    « Great remodel »

Pleasantly surprised by the great new Decour and remodeling. Spent a great deal of time in the pool area and there was absolutely no chlorine smell. Was able to order in pizza and relax by the pool with drinks had a great time. Lots of families around but not out of control not overly loud. For the price I paid it was a fantastic value.

    « stay of disappointment »

When you check into a hotel you expect a warm welcome. During checkin asked for awards points and produced my card was told it was too late, never had that before. we needed the internet to do my work but never did get it to work. Breakfast was to be a nice hot meal but when got there before 9 am no coffee, no sausage no pancakes, silverware machine was automatic and had an out of order sign, the only fruit was a few dried up oranges. I had scrambled eggs which were green tinged like they were made in a bad pan. No service person was in site. the swim pool looked inviting but did not go there. Checkout took 15 minutes.

    « Convenient location. »

This turned out to be a very large motel, but the many entrances and parking made it easy to get to your room no matter where you ended up. The staff was great, the wifi above average and the breakfast was competitive with other motels. The location was away from heavy traffic but only a short distance from the freeway. There were a couple of restaurant choices withing walking distance. It was also near a bike trail.

« Mildest Kung Pao Chicken Ever »

We got carryout including Kung Pao, Szechuan Green Beans and Lo Mein. Portions were huge and green beans were excellent. Kung Pao which was shown as spicy was a huge meaty portion and a great value, but not spicy at all. Disappointing.

    « Wouldn't stay here again! »

Arrived at 10:00pm after a delayed flight. Very slow check-in. Room key cards did not work. After reprogramming key cards, we finally got into our room at 11:00pm. Left room to get something from car, could not get back into room. Told there was a trick to getting key card to work. Took upwards of 20 attempts to get door open each time. Rooms far from clean. Breakfast late and nearly non-existent. Staff not very helpful. Definitely would not stay here again.

« Avoid this hotel completely »

Poor staff service, dirty rooms, no adequate breakfast, no coffee, careless cleaning staff with guest property, bad checkout protocol. This stay was your worst kind of nightmare. Wouldn't take a chance on them improving it in the near future based on manager attitude.

« Lots of excuses for poor service »

We prepaid for a 4 night stay through Orbitz. Because of weather, we didn't land at the MN airport until 11 PM. We decided not to drive the hour + to the hotel in a rain/hail storm, so called them and told them we would arrive in the morning and to hold our reservation. When we arrived at 11 AM the following morning, our room was not available, because "all rooms were dirty." That means they sold a room that had already been sold. When I explained that to the clerk, she gave me a blank stare and told me the hotel was under new management. When I asked her how quickly I could get a clean room, she told me not till after 3:00. She also couldn't/wouldn't refund my money for the first night. When I arrived to check in after 3:00 the clerk (different person this time) couldn't figure out how to check me in because I had booked through Orbitz. He also informed me the hotel was under new management. Then he tried to tell me he needed my credit card to pay for the room. When I showed him my confirmation that indicated I prepaid, he simply shrugged. The room was okay, although the bed was uncomfortable (mattress too hard, pillows too soft). Something else that was interesting and not to my liking was room service. I put the "Privacy" sign on my room because I didn't want housekeeping. That night I received a note that indicated they didn't housekeep as requested but would ignore a Privacy sign if I put it out the following day. I can't recommend this hotel.

« Good price; nice place »

We were very pleased with our service at the desk; room was clean enough but had a slight odor to it. Beds were okay, air conditioner was extremely loud. Great place for the price and very friendly staff.

    « great choice »

aside from the beds being too firm for my liking. it was a great stay. they were the only hotel who allowed us to check in past 3pm. all the others were booked at the time, and a few where only offering smoke rooms and prices were too high.

« Avoid Best Western in Mankato MN »

The Males were not helpful, haphazard at best and had no answers (said they would call in minutes with answers, did not call back). Very broken English, spoke another language in front of me when trying to assist me that offended me. This was while they were fumbling over my reservation and looked at each other and spoke a foreign language. I couldn't change the event locations as 12 persons were scheduled to arrive in approximately 11 hours or I would have!

    « Don't complain »

We rented the hot tub suite for 1 night as an anniversary gift to ourselves. My husband needed to use the internet connected directly to his computer and not in wifi. I did not work in our room. We talked to management, explained our needs and they misunderstood. They moved us to a room without a hot tub. We explained that we needed hot tub and to use the internet corded. We had been dealing with their "tech support" and front desk for an hour. We requested our money back if we could not have both our needs met we didn't want to stay. They offered the next room to use for internet only. We tried 3 additional rooms next to the hot tub suite and NONE worked for corded internet. They cut our bill in half which we were happy about UNTIL the next morning. At check out a note was added to our bill that stated "guest is rude and arrogant" This was on my bill AND in my account. I was livid. We were told that it was put in our account so that they knew for next time to make sure we had an excellent experience. I don't think so. I will never stay there again

« mostly nice except odor »

The location was very handy for us, and the front desk help was quick to give us a better rate when I inquired about setting the reservations up via internet source. The house keeping gal was very helpful in meeting our needs when we needed assistance. The room had a, I guess you may say a 'stale' odor..... kinda like the goodwill...... That is my only complaint with our stay.

    « I must be honest here »

Overall our stay was reasonable since we wanted somewhere within driving distance to MSP airport. I have already written the manager on the negative part of our experience so I will only summarize it here. We were finally able to check in around 4 pm we found the bed one of our rooms had not been made up (pillow stacked elsewhere) so not sure if bed linens were changed or not. We asked for another room which we given. That said we found the atmosphere and pool area very pleasant, the front desk staff and restaurant food and service respectable.

« Cold room, cold food »

When I entered the room the temperature was set at 67°. It was not comfortable at all. I had to turn on the heat in August to get the room up to a comfortable setting. The maid probably had it set at 67 so that it was comfortable for her while she worked, but certainly not comfortable for the guest. The complementary breakfast was as cold as the room. The eggs were overcooked and cold. The sausage was just lukewarm. When I mentioned all of this to the manager on duty his comment was "I'll mention this to people but there's nothing I can do about it now". A very unsatisfactory stay at the Best Western Motel in Mankato.

« Great Value for the stay »

Breakfast was excellent, rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. Pool area is large, breakfast is really good! Location is great, easy to get to. Price of the room was reasonable, very enjoyable nights stay.

    « excellent Service »

We stayed there 4 nights for a Car Meet in July. I can not say enough goods things about this Hotel. From the time you entered the premises you always felt welcome. The staff was very helpful with everything that you asked off them. The restaurant had excellent food at good prices. What more can I say, I will stay there again and will recommend this Hotel to everyone I know.

    « comfortable and welcoming »

We stayed one night. We were visiting Mankato to ride the bike trails. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was quiet. The pool was larger than others, but we didn't use it. Also a whirlpool, but didn't use. We parked our bikes in the room.

« Great place to stay for a week of Vikings Camp »

Love the free breakfast, easy parking and free wifi. Friendly staff and great overall value. Have stayed at this hotel on 3 different occasions and each time I am eager to return for next years Minnesota Vikings Training Camp.

    « Pleased »

We had a very comfortable pleasant stay. Room clean, comfortable, and cheerful. Free breaks excellent with plenty of choices. Waffles and pancakes. Beautiful lobby and pool area. Checked in on the late side but our request for a ground floor room was accommodated. Reported a couple of maintenance items for the next guest and was assured they would be addressed. Nice location, good wi fi made the overall experience a good one. We would come back.

« Exactly what a hotel should be at a minimum »

This place is exactly what you expect and need a hotel to be. Reasonably up to date, clean, comfy beds, flat screen tv and clean bathrooms. It is more than a 3 star place but I don't want to set any false expectations. Due to being under the weather, I didn't use the pool but it sounded like it was good based on the happy sounding swimmers.Right off hwy 169, several restaurants within view, one on-site and a Perkins within walking distance. They accept pets and it has a family vibe going. One big plus is that it had better soundproofing than other places I've stayed at. Not once did I wake up in the middle of the night due to thin walls. I would stay again.

    « Terrible customer service »

This past weekend my family and I were supposed to stay at this location. After some very unfortunate events we lost our room (exp card and dead cell phone so no received call) This was frustrating because we tried checking in from 11am-2pm (sat in the lobby the whole time) but were not able to because the room was not ready, however the employee at the front desk took our name and noted she would let us know when it's ready. Well we had to leave for my sons baseball tournament and were not able to get back until 10pm. It was at this time we found out we lost our room. It was frustrating that they gave it away since we were clearly there earlier in the day. They have their policies however and it is what it is. The bigger issue is that when I asked the manager how they could help us his response was "It's not my problem" that is where I lost my patience. I asked for his manager, I asked this individual the same question and unbelievably I received the same response! I then called the hotel manager and explained that the issue with the room was unfortunate but not my biggest concern. I explained that two of her managers gave me the response they did and AGAIN I was told for a third time from the hotel manager that it's not their problem! Our entire team was staying there and needless to say will not be staying there again!

    « Pleasantly Surprised!! »

After reading a few not so good reviews, I was skeptical. We showed up with no reservations and were able to get 2 poolside, very spacious, clean and decent sized rooms for a very reasonable rate. The beds were very comfortable. The 5 of us ate in the bar and had a good meal. The bartender/sever was wonderful! Check in and out was smooth and easy. All employees were very pleasant and helpful. I would def stay here again.

    « Great pool area »

We stayed with our (2) great grandsons and had a ball at the pool. It's big and has depths for kids and adults. The water was warm. They have a large hot tub. The breakfast was very good. The room was nice and over looked the pool but came with (2) double beds instead of queen size. We booked for (4) people and found double beds uncomfortable (their website says double, not queen). I gave a review to BW and was told I could have gotten a roll away or booked (2) rooms(not good options). I'll be more careful booking in the future.

« Great for 4th Fireworks, Bar should be open more »

We chose this hotel because we thought it looked close to where they shoot off fireworks on the 4th at Riverfront Park. IT WAS PERFECT!! We just pulled up camper chairs we brought and sat in the parking lot and the fireworks were fabulous. The staff was always friendly and the area was great. Some of the restaurants were closed on the 4th, but that's just a heads up. We had a great stay. My only complaint would be that the bar was seldom open. Now, that said, we stayed Sunday 7/3 (and the bar is closed Sundays) and Monday 7/4, and the bar may be closed most of the 4th, so maybe it really was not an issue, but I would have had a beer a couple times when it was closed.

« Great stay at a great rate »

Was in town for a sporting event. The location was right down the road from the park we were at. Breakfast was really good. Price was good and the staff was friendly. Perkins restaurant was right down the road.

    « Average stay »

We stayed on the way to a shopping trip. The hotel is dated and does not seem upgrades. Staff was great. Food so-so. Breakfast was very good and well spread out. I'd say the biggest downfall we had was a ball tournament was in town and a bunch of screeching little girls were running around. They should put a group like that together in a certain area so that others don't have to hear the noise and running up and down the halls.

    « adaquate »

I was only here for one night, staying out of necessity. I was a little put off by the window facing the pool area. It was never possible to have the curtains open unless you want to be on display for pool goers, or your neighbors across the way. It was clean enough...some stains on the bedskirt and mattress, but my bedbug check came out clean. Location is fine, the cab service is quick and easy. They do have room service with limited choices for anyone with any sort of diet restriction (but hey, you're in Mankato)

« Customer Service Best Western Mankato, MN »

My past stays have always been pretty much uneventful. The staff has always been friendly, the rooms quite and clean. The amenities are great and the Continental Breakfast is one of the best. Now I have experienced their customer service first hand after I made a booking error on the internet. I contacted the front desk who in turn gave me to Arlene who corrected the situation I created within minutes. She also gave me full credit for my booking error and booked me immediately for the original date I was looking for. Looking forward to my stay in October 2016.

« Best Western, Mankato, MN »

We have stayed here multiple times and find it very customer friendly, and comfortable. Very convenient, with it being right off of Hwy 169. Beds were fairly comfortable, a bit soft, I prefer a hard mattress, but I'm sure it is great for most. Nice to have a restaurant right on the premises for a nice meal. Great continental breakfast, huge selection, and very clean.

« The room was okay and the Hot Breakfast was very nice »

Hotel lobby looked spacious and clean all around. Check in was fast and easy. Front desk gentlemen were very courteous and helpful. The room was on the first floor and easy to get to. Our room number was 127. The room looked good but I did spot at least a foot long cobweb on the ceiling in the morning while sipping on the in room coffee. It had been there a while. I guess the house keepers haven't looked up at the ceiling for some time. The furniture that held the refrigerator and microwave had it's back side pulled loose most likely from the microwave being pushed back from closing the door too hard. The staples hanging out the back didn't look the best. Sleep was quiet and without problems. We were in town for a wedding and would most likely stay there again as the two demerits weren't that big of deal and the breakfast was nice.

« Rating based on customer service »

I want to be clear that this isn't about the hotel itself. That was adequate, and I have no complaints about the basics. Well, the lack of handicapped parking spaces was pretty lame. The problem was, I reserved an accessible room and was shocked to see what they gave me. The toilet is free standing. No bars or railing next to it at all. I am in a wheelchair and pretty strong, but that is a HUGE safety hazard. When we called the front desk we were told they were "compliant with the standards". Not an apology, or a 'how can we help', nothing. I was told I could use the bathroom by the front desk. You know, the one about a mile from my room. Um, I am in my third trimester now. Any idea how often I pee? Ugh. I just couldn't believe how we were treated. I travel often, and as a disabled person some things can be dicey. But airlines, airports, and hotels almost ALWAYS go out of their way to make sure I am ok. This was just a complete lack of empathy. Won't be going back to a Best Western.

    « Busy Weekend »

What a pleasant surprise! I've stayed at Best Westerns and been disappointed but this one was wonderful! Emily was wonderful at check-in, the room was great and Charlie the bartender was fabulous! We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay!

« Serviceable Motel on a Main Route »

This wasn't the newest or fanciest motel in Mankato, but it was in a good location, convenient to the route we were traveling. I would stay here again under the same circumstances. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast was good.

    « Just alright.... »

My husband, younger brother in law and I came into town for a sporting event. Upon arriving, the hotel was in a great location to the field that we had to go back and forth to for the sporting event, so that was a plus. Check in was amazing. I had the pleasure of being checked in by Thao who is truly the ideal type of employee for a hotel!!! Very knowledgeable about the hotel, restaurants, etc. He was very friendly and overall truly amazing!! My husband and I smoke and Thao was able to get us a room that we could easily access our car to grab things and to smoke if we needed to, so again, PLUS!!! Whatever you guys are paying him, its not enough!! Now, on to the rooms. Upon entering the room, it sort of smelled like wet dog. Like the carpets haven't been cleaned in a LONGGGGGGGGGGG time. The bathroom was slightly too tiny. Now, the pool. My husband, brother in law, and I wanted to take a dip in the pool/hot tub. When we got there, there were kids EVERYWHERE with no one watching them. Their parents were all just drinking in their own little corner, which made me feel uncomfortable. Another thing that bothered me was that these kids were throwing a ball back and forth from the pool to the hot tub. One actually hit me in the face. Because there were so many unsupervised kids, we left. Now, the breakfast. I thought it was rather weird that they had their breakfast in the pool area..... no one wants to smell chemicals in the morning while drinking their coffee.... just saying. Overall, I would say that this hotel was.... just alright.

« Comfortable bed and good breakfast »

We spent an evening here. The front desk attendant Thao was very helpful. He got us a room near the exit so my husband did not have to walk a lot. Later he also found us names of Asian restaurants in the area. The food options in the hotel restaurant may be limited based on the room service menu. Breakfast options included waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, toasts, juice, coffee and tea. I would stay here again but not on weekends because it was noisy with a lot of children playing in the pool area till late.

    « just ok »

Our room and hallway smelled. overall impression was of a tired property. remodeled lobby and nice breakfast but uncomfortable beds. Nice they allowed a dog and had a good dog area close by. Pool seemed clean and nice.

    « Food »

Everything was great...clean room..comfortable was very busy and noisy at first but the noise settled down by 11...BUT the restaurant food was aweful. ..when we didn't eat our food at all just drank the coffee they asked us we told them it was not edible and they still made us on them...

« Restored my faith in hotel service »

After a terrible experience at the Days inn, we found ourselves needing a room late on a Friday night. They were wonderful, gave us a discount. The following morning we just missed the hot breakfast. The gentleman who was cleaning the breakfast up offered to make us plates and brought us eggs and sausage.

    « As expected »

Location is good; 1.6 miles from center of town. I used this hotel as my overflow booking when the City Center Hotel was full. The room was of decent size, the included breakfast was decent, the pool area was large and nice. The hotel is two floors, but without an elevator. This can be a consideration for some.

    « winter blues retreat »

On a wednesday night in cold winter night in Minnesota decided to take the little one for a night in the pool. Very nice hotel, friendly staff nice little break from reality. Only downfall was the hot tub wasnt so hot. Which was a huge disappointment. The hotel is currently going thru renovations. Judging by the progress so far it is going to be very classy yet affordable.

    « Good Value »

We stayed two nights for a family reunion. Breakfast was good, but very busy (typical selection, which is fine with us). The room was clean, and comfortable. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice. I think it would be great for a family.

    « Old and Outdated! »

Very old and outdated property. Looks like it hasn't been updated in 25 years or more. The Wifi was extremely slow and could not keep the connection so I was unable to work on my computer. Food and service in restuarant was below average. No elevator?!

    « welcoming staff »

Nice place to stay! The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast is beautifully set up poolside. It is very clean and offers more variety then other hotels. However, I DO NOT recommend the attached restaurant! The service was slow and the food was cold. 2 of the 10 in our group could not even eat theirs because it was over seasoned with salt and siracha. When we tried to inform the restaurant manager, he laughed it off - literally!

    « I'll stay here again »

Nice hotel, needs some updating. Very clean, nice pool area and a very good restaurant. The service is outstanding in the lounge, I ordered food to go and it was hot, came with silverware and was prepared very quickly. Like most Best Westerns, the bed was very comfortable. For the price they charge, I feel it is a very good bargain. I do business in Mankato so I got a corporate rate which is probably why it was so reasonable but I would stay here if on vacation as well.

« Better than we thought »

From the outside we were skeptical but the entrance is clean and updated so that put us at ease a bit. The rooms were ok but could use a deep clean around the walls, doorways, hallways. Not bad for the price but nothing exceptional.

« Family Trip to Mankato »

Overall very good experience at this Hotel. Will stay there in the future. The Saturday Breakfast bar could have been set up a little sooner that morning. Buffet was being set up though out the service. It was eventually very good, but disorganized at the begging, moving things from one area to another.

    « Great value »

Good room at a fair price. I took note of some some older and recent reviews about the state of the hotel, but the remodel seems to have gone very well. The room was well-furnished, clean and quiet, and the building comfortably well-kept. I was not disturbed by other guests or road noise. It is within easy distance of Perkins (great place!) and other places as well such as gas stations and fast food, and just off the highway, making it a good place to stay for the night or a longer duration. Staff was friendly and helpful. Positive experience. Would stay there again.

« Nice stay, no elevator, great breakfast. »

Very impressive hotel. Loved the full breakfast with eggs and sausage. The pool area was nice and clean and didn't overwhelm us with the smell. Staff was helpful. Air/heat was noisy. The pillows were "folded" into the pillowcase and very uncomfortable until the second night when I realized they were just tucked that way. Coffee pot in the bathroom seemed unsanitary, should have been out on the dresser. The hotel does not have an elevator and is very long with many hallways so there was a lot of walking.

    « affordable »

Comfortable room. Free hot breakfast made an affordable room even more affordable. Hotel restaurant served excellent beef nachos. Conveniently located near a Super America, Perkins, Subway and the freeway.

    « Think Twice »

I would have to be desperate for a place to stay before I would stay at this facility again. The toilet had not been cleaned in a very long time. Was a dirt/mold ring around the inside of bowl. The plumbing pipes you saw while using the toilet were covered with dust/mold. The mirrors were filthy. In other words, it looked like this room had not been cleaned in weeks.

    « Nicely surprised! »

Great place to stay. Has an enormous pool area with plenty of seating! The hot breakfast was great, I was full until dinner! Front desk staff was very friendly as were the housekeeping staff. Plenty of parking, free wifi and nice room finishings. We were pleasantly surprised, would definitely stay again.
