« No service and lukewarm welcome. »

We rebooked by phone several weeks ahead yet when we checked in the dour staff seemed to be highly enthusiastic and we got a very lukewarm reception. We stayed two nights but couldn't sample the restaurant because it was closed, without explanation. Advertised hi-fi was not on the air. There was no housekeeping to our room during the stay - rubbish bins remained unemptied, towels were not replaced nor consumables such as tea and coffee and cookies, very cheap bathroom linen, with no bathmats (or hand towels possibly supplied for this purpose???), cheap third world toilet paper. Dour checkout and a receipt mysteriously missing the Best Western logo, though perhaps Best Western should be happy about that. Third world quality provided by third world staff. Never again. A huge contrast with the excellent Best Western Colonial in Bairnsdale half and hour back up the road, which was excellent with friendly, helpful, welcoming staff.

    « Great views »

We stayed in this hotel for one night during our coastal tour from Melbourne to Sydney. It was the first (Mon)day of the school holidays and we were expecting to stuggle to find accomodation. But much to pur surprise the town was very quiet, including just about all restaurants. This Best Western ended up th only one we could see with No Vacancy on the door, but this may have something to do with a large group of bikers who had booked this place for a night. Great people! We got a seaview room, with a double bed and a fold-out couch, which was comfortable but defenitively not anything luxurious. For AUS$140 I found the price of this hotel a bit on the steap side. Great location though.

« Good location, close to town »

Stopped in for 1 night on route from Melbourne to Sydney. 1st floor rooms along the front have great views of the Lake. Hotel is close to other restaurants which was handy as their restaurant was closed. We found the room quiet from both adjoining rooms and the road until morning when we could hear the couple next door in the shower. Not good.

« handy to the town and opposite the wharfs »

Neat and clean with friendly staff... what more could you want for. How about a swimming pool and a restaurant/bar. There are also lots of bars and resteraunts nearby, and shops too. We'd stay here again if we were ever in the area.

« Best thing was location »

Very good location to the restaurants, clubs and shops. All within walking distance. Room was clean but outdated. Towels and bedding need updating. Bed was very uncomfortable, hard and I would say very old. Don't know what the bed replacement plan would be or if there is one. Don't think I would choose this one again.

« If i could turn back time.... »

The room is dated and the towels are completely ratty... They were at end of life about 4 years ago... even if the room is dated some little things like nice linen and luxurious towels can make all the difference. i went to get more milk from reception... no one came, so i rang the bell again and waited.... no one came... so now i am back in my room with no milk for coffee and wondering why work keeps putting me up in the dive motels.

    « Good spot »

Comfy clean room with air conditioning and wifi. Mini bar and guest laundry were great after a long hot motorbike ride as was the pool. Convenient (walking distance) to restaurants, clubs, pub and shops. Friendly helpful staff. Off street parking. Beautiful area to explore.

« Worst motel in 17 booked this trip »

It was windy and the door had a 1/4" gap that allowed cold air in all night. There was a tree/plant with huge leaves that touched the window screen and outside ceiling. The noise from this kept us up all night. The glass shower enclosure leaked and no bath mat was provided making for a slippery and dangerous floor. I sent an email with photos as we left before the office opened and followed up twice with no reply. Besides this , the place is quite old and worn and not worth the stay.

    « Clean rooms »

We stayed for one night, the room was clean and well appointed. The wifi was completely useless. The checkin was great and the owner did his best to accommodated our request for a nicer room and was helpful with dinner recommendations.

    « Good location »

We had a room overlooking the water, so that was nice but there are no divides between the balconies, so they are not private and also very noisy from traffic, and noise coming from other rooms meant we had to keep the doors shut. The room was large, renovated, clean and the breakfast was served hot and well cooked. The bedspreads and blankets on the beds, instead of doonas was a big turn off for me.

« fantastic location, great service and rooms to match AND fine dining »

we booked in to to a double room with a balcony so we can sit out and enjoy the magnificent view., the booking in over the phone and checking in in arrival was friendly welcoming and cheerful.rooms very super clean , spacious and had it all. the CLANCIES restaurant for dinner was the very best, super service great value for money and tasty food, Atmosphere, typical country an western, with magical relaxing music to match.hidden gem do not miss dinner here , helen the manageress at the restuarnt and manageress of hotel were the best

« The last Resort cause all the other places were Full »

When you go to a town and look for accommodation only to find that everything is fully booked you get desperate and take whatever you can as in this case it turned out to be the Best Western Banjo Paterson. The lovely host welcomed us warmly and said she could give us a front de lux queen room with lake views as this was on the ground floor we accepted her offer. We had seen this place on Booking and Trivago websites for $115 so the $145 tariff came as a surprise but who argues when u need a place to sleep after travelling all day. The room was compact and there was lake views if you looked through the bushes or walked along the patio up a few units. It is not the most modern place in town and as the room was in front of the service laundry it was best described as back blocks at best. There are a number of motels in Lakes entrance two of them are Best Western if the Banjo Patterson is anything to go by then I would not be staying in this town again.

    « welcoming staff »

Walked in and helpful lady quickly arranged a double room. Clean, good bathroom, aircon, enough utensils, tea, etc except no bottle opener. Comfortable bed. Views onto parking area but not a big deal. Good value.

    « Room with a view »

Checkin was quick & the staff were very friendly. Bed was a little too firm & the location of the spa switch was inconvenient, also spa jets couldn't be moved or adjusted. The food in the restaurant was very good, overall we had a lovely weekend.

    « Very Pleasant »

We found it a very pleasant place to stay Found the room very clean and roomy Friendly and helpful people Didn't think the restaurant was good value. But all in all the motel was very central and handy to most things

« Great location great value »

I had a room with a balcony overlooking the water, great veiws ,very pleasant sitting on the balcony especially at sunset, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable, good size flat screen TV ,the sofa lounge wasn't all that comfortable, the staff were cheerful and helpful, very good value for money

    « Holiday »

Excellent service reception helpful letting us know about places to visit very comfy pillows and bed great view from balcony room we had meals from Clancy's restaurant on site delicious and breakfast very good and well pricedOnly place I have been to and the toast was HOT.will definitely be back.

    « A Nice Place to Stay »

We stopped overnight at this Motel. It is nice and clean and airey and we had a room on the front with a balcony which looked over the Lake. It is very pleasant and close to Restaurants, cafes and shops. Good for a night or a week if you are in the holiday mode.

« Nice average priced Motel »

Stayed at the Best Western on Friday night. Nice room on the first floor overlooking the water. Room 20, had a good view, saw a pod of dolphins ,quite special. The room was clean, with all the amenities you need. The only thing was there was no lift so we had to lug our huge suitcase up the stairs.Ground floor room would be better if you have a lot of luggage. We ordered in room service from the restaurant downstairs. Very nice food,it was hot when delivered and was very welcome as it was teaming down and we did not want to go out. Quite central to all the shops, nice Motel.

« Two nights were two to many »

Staff were nice, but this is a bit tired, air conditioning did not work! Lights came on but that was about it. Had a cold shower the first morning as they were changing over the water heater and the plumber apparently turned the hot water off! Found the room to be stuffy. When I told the lady that there was no hot water she just said Sorry, when I told the young girl about the air conditioning she just said....hmmmmmmmmmmmm Room service for breakfast was good.

« Less than restful night. »

Upon check in the lady that served us was very helpful, and as we were working overnight, a late check out was arranged in advance. Fees for the late checkout were explained clearly and agreed upon at the time of check in. Unfortunately there appears to have been a miscommunication with the man working the morning shift at reception, as he rang the room, waking us up, and told us we had to leave or an additional days charge would be applied. By this time we were now awake and felt there was nothing to be gained by arguing the point. The room itself was clean and reasonably comfortable, apart from a lot of noise with people working up ladders near our room, resulting in a less than restful night. If you are considering this motel, I would suggest ensuring that any requests are clearly understood and communicated to all staff.

« Nice stay one night »

Walking distance to the town centre and located in front the lake. Nice and friendly staff. Neat and tidy spaces room. Restaurant provided ok food but nice dessert. Noisy fridge during the night, it needed to be replaced. A little bit noisy in the morning.

« Great Hotel and Exvellent Position »

Great Hotel to stay in. I with my wife have travelled all over Europe twice a year for the last 10 years and this hotel although is small is a great hotel and value for money. The balcony rooms are for a small extra fee have a very good view of the lake

« Nice clean hotel right in front of the lake »

Just a stopover with a large group of mates travelling on motorbikes through to Canberra for the Police Wall to Wall ride for remembrance. Lovely spot opposite the lake and a very short walk to the shops and restaurants. Had dinner at the local RSL (great value) but the restaurant in the hotel looked really nice, if not a bit pricey. Rooms were nice and clean and the staff friendly. Free wifi available. Would definitely book there again on next visit. Beautiful scenery in this part of the world.

    « Good Nights Sleep »

Had a look at a few in Lakes coming back from Sydney . August quite time of the year plenty of vacancies chose this one because of nice clean room ,a bit dated though ,with shower toilet in one area and hand basin in another. Comfy bed and soft pillows important for a good nights rest friendly and helpful staff member at reception, would stay again

« Decent enough, nothing special »

Staying here was a "cold call" selection as we were visiting the area. The motor inn is pretty typical of most country motels, plain simple, nothing flash. Once the heating was operating the room was comfortable enough, it was clean and pleasantly appointed. The bed was ok, a good nights sleep was achieved, and the bathroom was clean and relatively modern. Breakfast was your standard motel offering, was not expecting more.
