    « Well......ok but needs a lot of TLC »

First off it is not a Best Western any more. Made the reservation under the guise of BW, but when we arrived it had just changed this week. I can see why it is not a BW anymore as it is well worn in areas. Can't really hold that against the new owners, but not up to typical BW standards as we expected. The room could have been cleaner as there was still a lot of debris on the floor that a better vacuum job would have taken care of. Other then that the room was clean looking. The room did need a rehab - specifically ceiling and tub problems. Surprised there was no microwave in the room, but there was one in a nearby common area we used. Time will tell if the new owners are going to rehab this place or not. This place could go either way a decent budget hotel (as is) or a major rehab to turn it back into the advertised "Luxery on the water" ( which as it is, it is not). Staff was nice, and it did have a nice breakfast, and a fun looking indoor water park type pool. So just be aware of what you get at this time.

    « Nice but pricey »

Stayed one night on our way south. Room was quiet despite a wedding reception in the banquet room. Pool was noisy with numerous kids, but we did not use those facilities (big water park in center of hotel). Thankfully we had a quiet room near the river. Had asked for a river view from our room, but did not get one. No big deal as we arrived late and left early. We would stay there again, but at $153 per night, we felt it was over-priced for the location.

    « Dirty! »

The room was dirty and the pool area were very dirty! The lifeguards were very unhappy and unhelpful. They were on their phones the entire time, with their headphones in and sunglasses on inside. What if someone was actually drowning? The hotel is too expensive for the quality of it. Yes it has a water slide and kiddie pool, which is why we stayed there. However, was not worth the price for the La Crosse area.

    « Unique location »

A very nice stay, we really enjoyed the riverside deck. We had a poolside room which would be a great choice for families traveling with children. The pool has a waterslide and other water features along with a spa hot tub.

« Nice pool. Breakfast good. Rooms dated. All the doors stick. Odd bathroom ceilings »

Stayed as a group. Several rooms. With kids. Two nites. Pro: Pool was nice, well maintained and very kid friendly. Pro: Breakfast buffet was decent. Eggs ok. sausage fine. waffles. toasts. cereals. Not bad Pro: Staff nice and no issues. Found they have a security guard who walks the halls late at nite. one loud party next door and they handled it. Pro: Internet decent. Cons: All the room door/bathroom doors stick. Cons: Beds ok...but feeling some age Cons: Bathroom ceiling. really dont understand. Looks like stucco guy went home and let kids paint it. very uneven by inches...yes inches. very unusual. Cost t best western but will probably look elsewhere next time

« Upgraded for our Anniversary! »

I'll start out saying we've stayed in a fair number of BW. We normally go for a celebration, birthday, anniversary. When you book, there is a comment section to note any special requests or notes. I normally do note that we are traveling for a special Birthday or whatever the event may be. This was our 17th Wedding Anniversary, so I put that in those comments and also said an upgraded room would be great. When we checked in, we were greeted immediately with "Happy Anniversary!". And then he proceeded to tell us they had upgraded our King room to a King Suite with a river view! In all our 23 years of travel have we ever been upgraded! Room was great, comfortable bed, huge overall, bar area, walk out patio and Jacuzzi. Breakfast the next morning was great also, the staff were right there making sure everything was well stocked, helping out and keeping the area clean. You can tell they take their job very seriously. We stopped at the bar the night before also, and although they were busy, the bartender who served us was so friendly and helpful, even under the stress of being busy. This is the best BW we've stayed at!

    « internet service »

we have stayed there multiple times internet service sucks, laptop no log on/ tablets no log on/called tech service only to be told your room is a dead spot/I have stayed there in 5 different rooms same result

« Great view of the Mississippi River »

We had a beautiful room on the second floor with a river view. We saw a beautiful sunset over the river from our room. Walked to the riverfront with a very short walk from one of the entrances of the hotel. Very clean, large room with King bed. Shower was wonderful. We ate dinner at the Black River Bar & Grill that is attached to the hotel. It was very good. We had the pulled pork sandwich and a cheeseburger. Breakfast was really delicious. They had wonderful ham slices with mustard sauce that so delicious. there was also scrambled eggs, waffles, donuts, etc.

    « Just ok, »

This hotel served its purpose, but at a hefty price, the restaurant served ok food, but that is all, with very sad presentation. the tiki bar and patio area was a very nice way to relax and enjoy the view of the river, the "water park" was a kiddie pool, hot tub, and the larger pool (max 3' deep) had a slide. Us adults opted out due to slightly chilly water. The rooms were very nice, clean and large, but hopefully they will be upgrading the beds, we left after 2 nights very sore and very tired. There was a fishing competition and the parking lots were all blocked off with trucks and boats, they were allowed to leave tarps and gear spread throughout parking spots leaving other guest with a long walk back to the hotel. Our secure entrance was proper own with several extension cords being used for boats (??) When we mentioned this and asked about security and the trip hazard, the male desk clerk dismissed our concerns, I would stay again, but do not consider this ore than a $89 hotel, we paid $99 for Sunday and $140 for Sat,

    « I'll stay there again »

I was satisfied with my stay here, was just here one night on a business trip but was pleased with the attention the staff gave to everything. There was a large event going on in town and the hotel was the sign in/registration point for the event so there was a lot of activity while I was there but the staff was able to keep everything moving at a good pace and nothing seemed to be lacking. I will stay again for sure. Even though my family wasn't with me I would bring them here as the pool area is family oriented with a big slide into the pool and other activities for the pool along with a good sized lounge area to sit and relax poolside.

« Nice choice for kids, good amenities »

This Best Western is an older hotel that needs some updating but IS currently being updated. It offers comfortable rooms, a very nice indoor indoor pool with a slide for children, toddler pool and hot tub, an on-site bar and grill, outdoor tiki bar and restaurant and is located on the scenic Black River Beach. In season, you can walk out back, view the river, feed the ducks and walk the docks. We stayed on the second floor in a pool view room. The rooms are average. Housekeeping did not come in and do any "touch ups" of any kind; no quick vacuum, only asking if we needed anything and resupplying as needed. One of the reasons we paid for a pool view room was to be near the pool. One evening, my daughter went down to play on the water slide, 10 minutes before closing. In my opinion, a child can still have a lot of fun in 10 minutes. The lifeguards closed the slide door and began shutting down the water park area 10 minutes early. This upset me. When I called the front desk to voice my complaint, I was simply told that they would "talk to the lifeguards about it" as opposed to having them keep the pool open longer. The refrigerator did not work especially well. Aside from that, the location of this property is great; close to many restaurants and shopping. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the on site "Black River Bar and Grill" and will do a separate review on it. Extremely rude server, mediocre at BEST food and not worth the price. Go elsewhere to eat. However, the continental breakfast offered by the hotel has a WIDE variety to choose from; meats, eggs, make your own waffles, many toppings, yogurts, breads, muffins, cereals, beverages, coffee with flavored creamers. It would be hard to find something you don't like.

« LaCrosse WI River trip »

Ardis was the gentleman in the breakfast area. He was super friendly, informational and went out of his way to make sure that all food was replenished as soon as it was empty. He was by himself working and there were a ton of people there. He never lost his pace or lost his smile. He even took coloring pages and crayons to our table and others with small children!! Sandy at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very nice with a great smile. And she has been there for 30 years. The owner walks around checking rooms to make sure they are clean and ready for guests. He is there at the front desk and very friendly. The hotel is older with rooms opening into pool area, great pool area, but they have spent a ton of money to update it and make it nice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL

    « Best Western Review »

The room was okay. Comfortable, but not the cleanest. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good, but had long lines and ran out of food a couple of times. The pool was busy and there were some unsupervised children that were causing problems but the lifeguards did not do much.

« Weekend on the river »

We spent the weekend attending a wedding. The rooms had some maintenance issues. We had to change rooms mid-stay because of a water leak, but the staff was very responsive. The continental breakfast was always substantial and the food was fresh. Room prices were little high.

« Warm and fun and ... spectacular! »

My daughter and I stayed for one night at the Best Western Riverfront while driving from Rapid City, SD, through Detroit, to Windsor, ON. We paid C$107, including taxes (approx. US$80), which we booked less than two weeks in advance. For the price and in the circumstances, this was one of the best places we have stayed. We liked it so much, we almost started thinking about whether we could ever come back to La Crosse just to stay here again. The room was giant and located just inside the enormous indoor pool area. It gave it the feel of being accommodation at a high-end water slide park. While the main restaurant was closed when we arrived, the outdoor tiki bar and grill near the river was open. They didn't do room service, but they cooked up a dinner and gave us take-out containers to take back to our room. The room had an extremely efficient heating/cooling system, which I only mention because often hotel room thermostats don't seem to work or don't work quickly. This system adjusted the room temperature rapidly after we made an adjustment. The breakfast was fine. Nothing special, but I wasn't left feeling disappointed. The hotel backs on to the river, and it was so nice that even though we were driving 2,000 km (1,200 miles) in two days, we took a few moments the next morning to walk out on to the dock and just enjoy being there. On our way back, we both had the same thought, that the back area with the grass and paths had the same look and feel of an all-inclusive Mexican resort. The only down side was that on check-in, the desk clerk seemed a little detached and not particularly friendly. Given the great experience we had overall, including with the bar and grill staff, we assume we just got him at a bad moment. Needless to say, we would definitely stay here again if we were in La Crosse and we wouldn't bother looking around for other alternatives.

    « a surprising renovation »

although the hotel is listed as recently renovated, work goes on and there was work noise starting before 9 a.m., with access to one hotel entrance blocked off. The quality of the furnishings in general was very similar to what we would expect from a budget hotel at $60-70 a night, but this hotel costs twice that. In our room, the way the carpet had been installed was terrible, as there were tufts of carpet edging sticking out in many places, showing where the edges had been joined. The atmosphere of the hotel, outside of the attractive pool and waterpark area, was quite dated looking because of the unappealing brown and dark color scheme throughout. The breakfast was nicely laid out, but certainly average. All staff were very pleasant and friendly, which helped make the stay nicer. Would definitely not stay again.

« Room smelled very strongly of mildew »

We were on the last leg of our travels and arrived after 10pm with two sleeping children. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful moving our luggage up two flights of stairs as there is no elevator in the building. We stayed in a room overlooking the indoor pool area and we immediately noticed the very strong smell of mildew in our room. I also couldn't walk around on the carpet without shoes as it all felt damp. As with old hotels, this one felt very dated and dirty due to the smell. My son also lost toy car under the chair in our room. I lifted it to find lots of dirt and a half eaten candy bar from a previous guest. It was nice that breakfast was included but the price is far too high for the quality of the hotel and the room. We definitely won't stay there again.

« OK motel, don't let your kids use the water park, life guards are on their smart phones and do not pay attention. »

breakfast was hard boiled eggs, and sausage, weird, life guards were on smart phone with ear buds, didn't watch or see what was going on while kids were on the water slide, no supervision. and they want 200 characters in this review. food was OK, bartenders were good, staff was good. cleanliness was ok... grounds needed help, lack of information as to what the motel had to offer, no mention of a Tiki bar out side, mini golf, marina, etc.

« Looking forward to returning »

What a lovely setting! Breakfast on the patio with the river flowing by--my idea of a perfect morning! The beds were nice & comfy, breakfast great. I would like to come back to LaCrosse to ride my bicycle--lots of trails highlighted in the hotel's book in our room.

    « Exceptional Service »

This hotel went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, by filling all of our requests from the time of reservation to the time of check-out. The hotel may look a little dated on the outside but the interior is being updated and the staff is outstanding.

    « Disappointed!!!! »

Being a Harley rewards member we have stayed at this hotel many times they now will not allow motorcycles to park under the canopy and no towel was offered to wipe the bike off, I am not sure what benefit is left, never have we had a upgrade. The lounge in itself was excellent, server was great but shortly after we ordered other guests we met came in and left stating they would have at least an hour wait for food, we saw quite a few people walking out. We were told we would have a free hot breakfast, the only thing hot was coffee, waffles and sausage we were served cold hard boiled eggs.

    « Great Hotel »

Beautiful location, nice employees, enjoyable stay. I would encourage anyone traveling through the area to stop here. Outdoor activities....volleyball and minigolf on the property as well as a tiki bar outside. Very nice hotel...

    « Surprising bonus - the Missisippi! »

We booked a large quiet double room - and a quiet room is important because of the indoor water park and we were two retired women. The room was clean and comfortable, as we had expected, but the bonus was the outdoor patio and dock on the river. The duo playing music was too loud but we enjoyed drinks and a light dinner beside the river and then walked down to the dock and sat beside the mighty river as the sun went down. So, if the weather is nice and you have a room far from the action, this is better than your average roadside motel/hotel with access to the river being a major bonus for those who like that sort of thing.

« Stayed with a group of ten friends »

Recently stayed with a group of ten friends at this motel. We took 5 rooms. The front desk folks were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were close together, facing the pool. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We were riding motorcycles. We could see the bikes in the parking lot from the windows of our rooms. We appreciated that. The motel is convenient to the interstate. We enjoyed being on the river.

    « Adequate at best »

We attended a wedding at the hotel and stayed for two nights. The banquet space and staff were decent. The banquet restrooms were very nice and there were enough that you never had to wait. As for the guest rooms, they are in desperate need of an update. In comparison to the competition, the guest rooms were grossly overpriced.

« Disappointed on the River »

Driving across the country from Washington State to Washington DC, we stayed in several Best Westerns. I really came to like them and found this one just not up to the standard I had become a custom to. Reservations and check in were easy, plenty of parking too. We were given a room on the second floor at the end of a hallway. The door would not lock or rather I could not lock the deadbolt, it did not work. People were smoking 3 - 5 feet from the door I needed to use to bring our luggage in. I don't smoke and found that gross! The inside of the hotel is very dark and could benefit from a fresh coat of paint and some updating. Our bathroom floor was sticky, and the shower would not turn on. When I called the front desk they told me I needed to pull the shower knob REALLY, REALLY hard. I did that, a piece came off in my hand but it worked. I think if you can tell a guest how to fix something, you should just fix it so no other guest needs to ask. The paint was peeling on the shower ceiling and some mold was evident. The room was very quiet. The bed was comfortable and there was a nice recliner chair we enjoyed using. I walked over to the outdoor patio and Tiki bar. People looked as if they were having fun. I noticed that people were smoking at their dinner tables on the patio and at the bar. We ordered Room Service as the smoking was not ok. The hotel sits on the river and has pretty views. There is an interesting indoor "water park" there too.

    « Good Place »

this property has always been a positive experience for me. I have stayed here numerous times, and never disappointed. It is the only hotel that I stay at when I travel here. I have been coming to this hotel for over 15 years.

    « Daughters 16th birthday »

We stayed here for my daughter's 16th birthday We booked because of the waterpark nice pool area. The front desk ladies were very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast. The rooms are semi updated older property probably from 80's . Newer furniture and beds with linens and updated bathroom. We had a river view room nice view of Mississippi River . Bar and grill was good sat outside with river view food was good and good specials. Nice to stay and eat at Hotel. Hats off to Best Western they are doing a lot of good things. Rooms were very clean hats off to housekeeping we owned motels for 20plus years we know when a room is clean.

« Great place to stay on the Mississippi River »

This motel was very easy to find. It's an older hotel, but we found it to be well maintained. The staff was very helpful . There is an attached restaurant (with room service) and an outside Tiki bar near the river. For kids, there is a waterpark. We requested a river view room and were given a 2nd floor room with a partial view of the river. Since there is no elevator, we asked to be moved to a first floor room with a river view. The staff gave us another room immediately with no questions asked. The 1st floor room had a small patio outside the sliding door. Both the 2nd floor room and 1st floor room were oversized (that was mentioned in the hotel's description) and there was lots of room to move around. The room was clean and smelled good. There was also a loveseat, an overstuffed recliner/rocker, a good sized work desk, fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. There were lots of electrical outlets, The ac was very quiet and the room was peaceful and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but had a long sink and enough room to move around. the complimentary breakfast had all the usual items plus waffles, sausage links, hard boiled eggs, etc. The attendant was always busy helping guests, cleaning and restocking items. There were many nice little touches such as flavored cream cheese for bagels, a touch screen panel in the lobby that gives you local info, weather and an interactive La Crosse area map.

« Family friendly riverfront hotel »

This is pretty much an average Best Western overall, but it has some unique features. There is a large indoor pool area with a waterslide, small children's pool and hot tub. They had a life guard and the area was very well maintained and clean. For families with children this is an excellent feature. There is a large dock on the river with room for quite a few boats, so it is excellent for river cruising and I believe it is the only hotel in La Crosse with docks. There is an outside bar and the patio is huge. The staff were excellent overall and very friendly. I thought the bar food was very good. I had an excellent hamburger and the fries were really good. I hate soggy fries. Some of our group had pizzas. They liked the meat eaters, but were not crazy about the taco pizza. If you're cruising on the river this is a great place to stop.

    « Old »

Needs updating. Staff were welcoming. Rooms were old, beds fair. Windows needed to be replaced in the rooms they were fogged over by air leakage. If you are coming from the north it is easy to get too but from the south you have to travel all the way through the city. Breakfast was good. Checkout was easy.

    « Not what I expected »

The hotel looks older both inside and out. It also has a problem with moisture. The hallways were very hot and humid while our room was cool and damp. I believe it is because of the large open pool area in the center of the hotel. The bed was very uncomfortable. I swear I could feel a spring in my back. The room and bathroom were very clean.

    « Traveled by boat »

Boat docks and beach were great. Area seemed very secure. Only thing I would suggest is that there be an "adults only" time frame for use of the pool. Great family place, but some adult use without children in pool would be nice as well as relaxing.

    « mmmmmmmmmmmm ok i guess »

stayed in a king size room, must have been in the old part of the hotel (weekly stays) the outside door didn't latch at night..needed updates volume on tv was poor .. internet was poor. a lot of noise old bedding and towels, for being a Best Western I was let down

    « Much Needed GetAway »

Great getaway! My family was looking to get out of town and have some fun. The mini-water park was big enough that we could see the kids as we lounged on the pool side. The pool water slide was a big hit! Water was warm, hot tub hot and the kiddie/toddler area was great too!

    « Week Day stay »

Good location to I-90 in spite of road construction. Surprisingly small pool which catered to the young so used nearby beach. Rooms good for the price and the staff was friendly. Good breakfast with friendly and helpful staff.

« Nice relaxing place to stay! »

Rooms were clean, easy to access by the river by boat, leave boat overnight on dock. Safe. The pool looks fun but we didn't have any kids with us! Check in staff was great considering we have been on the river all day! We will stay there next year when we come visit.

« Decent hotel, but outdated. »

We stayed at this hotel while on a long road trip for one night. We are a 60 year old couple, and no children were with us. The room that we were assigned to was in the water park area, right near the bucket that fills and tips over about every two minutes! The rooms around the pool area are dated and have not been updated. There is an odor of mildew in the room. The toilet in our bathroom ran about ever Fifteen minutes. The room was dark and dingy. The lobby area was nice and you could tell it had been updated. The front glass doors going into the lobby were dirty and needed to be cleaned. The breakfast offered was adequate. To sum up this hotel, it could be updated and a bit more clean.

« Hotel is nice, Dock is poor »

The hotel has remodeled and room rates reflect this. The outside River Jacks has slow food service, up to an hour or more wait. The patio is nice if you bring your own drinks out. Rooms are nice and the pool area is unbearably hot. The docks have growth on them which will transfer into your boat. Several cleats are loose leaving the owner wondering if his boat will be gone in the morning.

« Decent with friendly staff »

Extremely nice rooms although not super clean. Still in good shape and quite comfortable. Breakfast was not very good but the restaurant in the hotel was amazing! Highly recommend. Staff was extremely friendly and I would stay here again. The indoor water park (very minimal) and pool area was a nice surprise and our kids loved it.

    « Clean and Updated »

I stayed here for 4 nights in a business trip. When I originally pulled up I was worried. The exterior looked dated, and it's not in the nicer area of town. As soon as I went inside I was put at ease. The desk was helpful, and very polite. My room wad updated, and clean. The first day my shower handle was broken, and they had someone up there in 5 minutes to fix it. Overall not a bad hotel at all. Great for kids with the pool.

    « Not impressed »

We stayed here for 2 nights with family for a wedding in town. The kids enjoyed the pool. The room was not clean. One of the beds had a broken box spring. Everything was damp and musty and smelly in the room. Didn't look like they had really cleaned for a while (dusty everything, old food under beds that wasn't from us, moldy/Mildewy ceiling and bathroom). They missed our room for cleaning and we had overflowing garbage and no clean/dry towels. Asked for clean towels in the morning and after 20 minutes had to call again because they still hadn't come. Definitely needs to be updated.

    « Great stay »

We love staying at this hotel when we are in Lacrosse. It is an older hotel but they do a wonderful job of continuing to update. It is also always very clean. The only bad thing is the breakfast they have. Eat elsewhere unless you like "Ham in Honey Mustard Sauce" at 6:00 in the morning.

« Nice hotel, would be fun for families! »

Hotel was very clean and beds were comfy! Our room was on the second floor looking out over pool area. Pool features a small waterslide and a nice kid friendly area which as evidenced by the kids there both days was very popular! We didn't use the pool ourselves but seemed popular. Breakfast was the usual complimentary breakfast, lots of choices and kept well stocked. Only surprise was, they only had hard boiled eggs, no scrambled either morning. There was also a beach area along the Black River and what appeared to be a nice bar area out there also.

    « Its ok »

It was mostly clean. They needed to clean the bathroom a little better, there was one long black hair behind the shower curtain, I have short blonde hair so I doubt that was mine. But honestly it was hidden behind a curtain so I dont hold that against them too much. I would've missed that hair too. But all in all it was clean and I felt safe to stay there. It was average, the free breakfast was average. It was a decent room for a decent price for a quick stay. I would probably book there again.

    « Accommodating, comfortable »

We visited Lacrosse with family. The Best Western Riverfront staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean but a bit humid. We had to keep the air-conditioning on high (it was in the 90s outside). The pools are great for children. They even have a big slide for big children and adults. There are two adults monitoring the big slide. Do not look for a beach at the hotel. There is nice one just down the road. (Black river beach) You can get a tomato juice or bloody Mary first thing in the morning at the tikki bar. The Restaurant was pretty good with good burgers, salads and fried cheese curds.yum Lacrosse has done a great job beautifying the downtown and Riverside area. If you get a chance go to Riverside park and walk the gardens on the north end. Walk along the river. Ride the riverboat.

« great place to stay »

This hotel is located on the black river. Rooms very clean and have nice indoor pool. There is a pier you walk down to view the river closer. There is a huge grassy area facing the river and a tiki bar with large patio. Enjoyed this so much we stayed two nights. Ate in restaurant first night and tiki bar on patio second night. Had hamburger and steaks both very good. I would stay here again.

    « Disappointed with noise & cleanliness »

Stayed here with our family while my husband was in town for work. We got a pool side room, and I would advise parents with young children to avoid that-- very loud as all noise from pool area echoes into rooms. With the pool closing after 10, bedtimes were impossible. Bathroom was also filthy when we arrived. Was also very small and impossible to have more than one person in there getting ready at a time. Also, had "quiet please" tag on door while my kiddos were napping in the afternoon and the maid service disregarded and knocked several times anyways to drop off some towels since they didn't have time to clean our room. Pool area was nice, but hardly a "water park" as advertised. Life guards were inconsistent with rules. Some parents were allowed to ride down the slide with their children, and then when some life guards were on duty it was prohibited. Likely wouldn't stay here again.

I think this hotel has been a little undervalued. Our room was quite nice, not perfect , but nice. The pool and recreation area is awesome for anyone with kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful and had some great suggestions. The Black River Bar and Grill in the hotel was very god and well priced. This hotel was a pleasant surprise for it's age. Would do it again!

    « La Crosse »

Riverfront Hotel is one of the better BW locations we have been to. We had a great experience with the room and the staff. It made our short trip to see the La Crosse Loggers play a game very relaxing and enjoyable.

« Rowdy but fun place on summer weekend- bring your energy! »

This place has a lot to offer. An outdoor Tiki Bar and massive deck that is very comfortable, a great sand volleyball court, decks right on the water, a small indoor water park (that's on overstatement, but what they have is nice). If you want peace and quiet, this is not the place, with kids having a blast screaming, adults drinking profusely, etc. However, it's all what you want. The rooms are comfortable, the staff was nice. I'll come back, but I like the rowdy stuff.

    « Hotel Stay »

Our stay at the Best Western Riverfront Hotel in Lacrosse was very enjoyable. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. Since the weather is nice, the deck and bar outside are now open. You can enjoy a nice meal and summer drinks outside overlooking the river. There was also entertainment inside the bar. There was a good variety for the free breakfast.

    « A comfortable night's stay »

We just wanted a stopover in La Crosse on our way to the UP. We had been looking at hotels on trip advisor, and many were either already booked or really expensive, so we held off booking anything. Then I got a notification from trip advisor that the rates for this hotel had gone we got a room for 80.00. For that price, the hotel was perfect. It was clean and comfortable and the free breakfast was good with a lot of seating available. We even sat outside on the patio with a view of the river. The pool area looked great for families, but we were glad to have a room far away from the pool, as it was much quieter. I would recommend this place for families with kids who like swimming and water slides. I wouldn't want to pay more than 80.00 per night for what we used it for, which was a place to sleep and breakfast.

    « Super always ! »

I been staying here for my work last 6 months.Always feel like home.Front desk people very nice.Bar and grill now open and on the river looks amazing.Rooms always clean and updated. When I check in feels like Home.

    « river living »

Enjoyed the hotel, the grounds where great, Had my dog, she loved the river, the patio and bar where great. Room was very nicely appointed. Enjoyed the stay. Breakfast was a little sparse, only some strange ham and gravy, no hot eggs, They did have hard boiled.

    « Nice basic hotel »

Nice basic room. Seemed clean but my asthma was fussed up so some mold must have been around, good bathroom. Quiet at night. Kids up in pool by 8:00. Good breakfast. View of river from some rooms. Had first floor room as no elevator. Thank you Trip advisor. Booked by Tripadvisor, no problem

    « Best stop! »

My Husband and I were on our Spyder (Motorcycle) We had been hitting rain and saw that we would be running into more rain & storms then we wanted to. So we stopped for lunch- seeing more rain on the radar... I pulled up Trip Advisor on my phone we saw that the Best Western was just a short drive away. So we drove over and quickly found a room. The lady at the front desk greeted us with a smile and told us where to park, what was there and to make our selves at home. That is exactly what we did! We explored the hotel. FUN pool and great play area for little kids. Too bad the water slide wasn't working- that would've been fun to try out. The pool area was nice- great for families. Outside there is a GREAT patio area. a fun tiki bar and wonderful views of the river. If we weren't cold we probably would've spent even more time outside. We had dinner at the restaurant on site. VERY PLEASED with the meal- more surprised that the prices for beer and sandwiches were NOT inflated. I had a great steak sandwich & fries- it was a special for the evening and it was yummy. Breakfast was nice. The NICEST man was working at the breakfast room he helped us with our waffles and told us, that he had just made the bacon- make sure you get some. It was the little things that the people working here that made the stay so very enjoyable. The room was fine. Clean and well taken care of. Free Wifi- worked great. our 'only' complaint- we could hear our rather noisy neighbors in the middle of the night.. Wish the rooms were a bit more sound proof. Beyond the noisy neighbors we had a great stay! We were well taken care of. There are many fun little taverns within walking distance. The on sight bar/restaurant is VERY REASONABLE. We were so glad that a rain storm 'forced' us to stay. We would stay here again in a heart beat!

    « A bit over-rated »

Not sure why this is a 3 star hotel or why it's advertised as a water park. Pros: friendly staff, waterfront location, nice size rooms. Cons: terrifically strong chlorine smell in the hallways from the "water park"; very meager breakfast. The weekday rate would be a fair price. The weekend rate is not.

« Yummy dinner by the river »

Delightful economy stay at recently renovated Hotel on the Black river. We enjoyed local La Crosse craft beer Downtown Nut Brown Ale and a steak dinner on the deck while watching birds and boats on the river . Several boaters pulled up at the dock and had dinner on the deck at the hotel restaurant Black River Bar and Grill.

    « Overall Great Stay »

This place offered great rooms and their outdoor area is phenomenal. I was able to sit out there and get all my work done in a quiet and peaceful area. I would definitely recommend this hotel to both business travelers and families. The service was amazing also!

The staff is awesome, especially Kelli Not sure why there has to be a minimum of 200 characters to write a comment. I got stuck for an extra night. Had called many hotels and all were booked. BW had 1 room left. I felt very luckily. It 's a great place to relax on the river.

    « Fun place »

We were driving and find best western on the road, very nice and clean place with water view on the deck. Looks like fun place for kids also, pool has kid slide and big one too. I will definitely recommend to my friends and family! Make sure do not forget to bring your swimsuit clothes

« Fast, Clean, and Amazing »

This hotel had great, efficient service. Its staff was very friendly and courteous. The room was impressive. It was clean and seemed like it had been recently remodeled. The overall experience was amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in La Crosse.

    « Exceptional!!! »

Man where do I start, this place is fun. Hotel got everything. i was there for my work. Staff was very helpful, rooms are very nice. They have deck on the river and a bar in the summer. I am going to come back.

« Looks great for kids »

Center of the hotel is an large pool area with slides etc. room was large & well maintained. Staff friendly & helpful. We had room service delivered from the restaurant. Prompt service. Sandwich was good. Nachos were unappetizing in appearance & barely edible.

    « Great hotel »

We have stayed at Best Western before and always have been treated great . The rooms are always clean and the people are always friendly. The only thing was that there was no elevator and had 2 floors and we were put on the 2nd floor which only had steps to the second floor but it was really my fault because I didn't tell them that I needed a 1st fl room.

    « Good »

The stay on overall grade was good, the bar and restaurant was a plus since I didn't have a car. They had a shuttle to the hotel from the airport so it worked out overall. The rooms were fairly renovated and the hotel was right on the river, location is good for a family trip next time.

    « Riverview Hotel »

I was on business trip, and found very nice inexpensive hotel on the river. They have nice courtyard on the river, and also bar on the river. Next time I will brig my family for vacation in la crosse,wi area.

    « Great riverside location »

Arriving on a sunny afternoon to find our room just a few steps from the riverside confirmed that booking this hotel was a good choice. Large room with small outside seating area. Bathroom had a useful three way corner mirror. Buffet breakfast was alright and had all the essentials.

    « Truck broke down »

Everything was excellent am a truck driver of 20 yrs and this was the best motel I've been at. People extremely polite friendly courteous easy to talk to and room was excellent. I will b back many times and will recommend to every driver I know. Thank you for a very pleasureable stay. Oh and yes the shuttle service is a big plus.

« Very Nice place to Spend Night in La crosse,WI »

I spent Night At La Crosse , WI at BW Hotel for work trip . I was Very Happy with my stay over there... full service hotel and nice Lounge . Did not use pool but they have nice pool Area if kids were with me . seems like they did recently renovation of hotel. hotel staff seems happy family

« This room is huge!! »

I stayed here the night before UWLAX's graduation. Every hotel in town was packed. Several places really jacked their prices. Not here. I was really impressed. My room was clean with a super comfy bed and a jetted tub. The breakfast was a typical one, but was good and plentiful - eggs, potatoes, waffles, and other bread, fruit, and yogurt. The view from the breakfast area was beautiful! The hotel pool closed a little early (10:30), and there were no adult only hours, but the pool staff was friendly. There was plenty of parking, too.

    « LaCrosse WI »

average motel where some improvements have been made. friendly staff. good location. nice continental breakfast. if you want a place to stay with a good location next to the river, this is it. not a luxury motel, but we like it; give them a try.

« Great place to stay! »

We really enjoyed our stay! My girls, 9 yr olds, loved the pool area with the slide! Breakfast was good, attendant was awesome always checking on items and helping ,cheerful and friendly! Definitely stay again!

    « Budget Friendly »

I stayed at this location on a business trip. The room was clean, with furnishings and appearance that was adequate; bordering on the need for an update. The continental breakfast for our meeting arrived late, but like a lot of things here; including the meeting room, was adequate; nothing special; but not worth complaining about. The noon meal also was adequate. I had to show you pictures of the pool and kids play area, as this appeared to be best reason to stay here. This was a budget friendly place for us to hold our meeting.

« awesome experience with nature of buety »

The experience was quite satisfactory. The staff was helpful when we had a problem getting into our room with the key. Except for an odor that we believed could have come from the carpet, the room was well kept and the bathroom was clean and it looked like it had been recently remodeled.

    « Best every time »

Stayed here all the time very nice hotel with outside bar,can not wait.Staff is always assure my reservation, and take care me,I recomand everyone this hotel for sure.Bar and restaurant has very good food as well.

« Great place to Stay!! »

This is a great family hotel. The pool and kid area is just what kids want. The parents can relax in a clean environment poolside. The rooms were very clean and comfortable to sleep in. The modern style makes you feel as if you are in a very expensive hotel, but for a reasonable price. Continental breakfast has a great variety so no one leaves on an empty stomach. Would recommend this hotel to everyone!! We will be back for sure.:) Stephanie

    « Good and clean »

The rooms were nice and clean, the staff was very good at everything they did. The kids were little noise at first but it did quite down later. The view behind the hotel was fantastic. The river and the little island couldn't ask for more. The breakfast in the morning was not bad.

    « Sleep »

bed was to uncomfortable to sleep other than that the service was good the breakfast was good - pool area was clean - friendly staff - it was a quiet stay - pool side rooms are handy- staff looked in appearance to professional -

    « Don't Stay not quite »

They tried to update this property, but failed in some areas. Very noisy, old doors, handicapped room was a long way to the restaurant and free breakfast. Heater wouldn't heat the room unless turned way up. Room was dirty when we checked in.

    « Very Accommodating »

After staying there several times and now using the rooms to do photo shoots, I have gotten to know the staff and services well. They have been very accommodating to me. Now the rooms have all been updated and they look great! The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of space in the rooms. Would recommend to friends.

    « Great family hotel! »

I would recommend this hotel to families. The pool area is a must to visit during your stay here! There is a deeper pool with basketball hoops and a fun slide, a small kiddie wading pool that also has a toddler slide, and a hot tub to relax in. While the hotel is older, there are obvious recent nice updates that have been done to the rooms and public areas. The continental breakfast was also a nice plus!

    « Thumbs up! »

Just had a great stay here! Lal at the front desk was very helpful and when I mentioned that I was at a bit under the weather he even made sure to find me a room in a quiet area of the hotel. (overlooking the water. bonus!). The hotel restaurant bar had great food and atmosphere. Can't wait to come back in the summer when the outdoor Tiki Bar is open. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in town on business and may even come back with the wife for some bicycling on the Lacrosse River Trail.

    « Bad weather Stop »

Was on my way to work. Realized that I wasn't going to be able to get home due to weather conditions, as I didn't get done until 1 am. Was happy that they weren't totally booked for the evening .Good room good breakfast and a good night of sleep .Highways were cleared made it home safely.

    « Very Good »

Very nice pool. Wonderful kiddy pool and adult pool with a slide and basketball hoops. Pool was nice and warm and very enjoyable with plenty of seating. Very nice continental breakfast. Staff was friendly and responded to all request. Hotel is older but is being updated. Our room was nicely updated. We would stay again for the right price.

« Very noisy pool area »

Our room was part of a square with the pool area in the center. It was very noisy, with kids screaming right up to 10pm when the pool closed. It was also easy to hear people stomping through the hallway upstairs and outside our room. After 10pm it was quiet. Free breakfast was nice and everything was stocked.

« One night for dance competition. »

Nice staff. Teenagers enjoyed the small "water park" area. Decent breakfast. Not very clean. Found junk on the floor behind dresser when I dropped something. Almost stepped in "something" (vomit?) in the Lobby.

« Comfortable place to stay »

Excellent location. Great people. Very good value. I have stayed here on numerous occasions and I always keep coming back. I'm closing in on retirement but hope to continue to visit good friends in the area in the future. I expect I'll continue to stay at the Best Western as I am very comfortable there.

    « Family Trip »

It was ok, the pool didn't seem clean, lifeguards were not watching swimmers as they should have, talking to each other and not watching the kids, the fitness room smelled so bad I didn't want to use it.

    « A work in progress »

Nice room with new carpeting, furniture, television, etc... Fan in bathroom sounded like a prop plane taking off. HVAC unit did not work properly. We set the temperature to the lowest setting (61 degrees) and it was probably 76 degrees. Finally had to shut off the HVAC unit and open the patio door in order to get some sleep. No security chain on the room door.

    « Show Choir Weekend! »

This Hotel is great spent 2 nights here. I was surprised by the comedy show on Friday night! The adjacent restaurant has great american fare food. The staff is very helpful and attentive. The hotel has a small water park and pool inside great for the little ones.

    « Excellent as Always!! »

I always stay here for my business trips in La Crosse, and it was excellent as always! I like the staff and the service, and I enjoy the clean rooms. I will continue to stay here and I recommend this hotel to business travelers.

    « Great hotel with lounge/restaurant »

The front desk staff was friendly. Check in was quick. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The internet service is fast. The pool area is great for kids and a nice area for adults to sit and watch kids. The free breakfast is great. They have both hot and cold items and includes some healthy choices. The lounge is very nice for relaxing. Drinks were good and prices are reasonable. A great place to stay.

    « unhappy »

No elevator. was misled about gathering area on 2nd floor; not told that it would close when the pool closed at 10/10:30. Had ask before booking the rooms that we wanted a place to gather with family and was told that this area on 2nd floor would be perfect. Was never told that there was time restrictions.

    « Best like always! »

I have been staying here periodically.Always like it,they have bar and Grill.I can not wait to go outside bar. People at front desk always feel me to go back and feel like home. Also best thing about best western in big parking lot, helps me with big semi.

« Pool weekend with kids »

Stayed at this hotel just for the pool as a treat for a friends kids. Pleasantly surprised by updated spacious room. Pool area was great for smaller children. Kiddie pool almost as large a main pool. Main pool depth is only 2'6" to max 3'9" which was great for non swimmer children. They were even still able to use the big slide. Nice perk was that the hotel had a ton of balls for use, which the kids loved. The ceiling was very high so there was not an overwhelming chlorine smell. It was extremely busy the night I stayed and the pool was full. The kids didn't mind but this would not be a place for childless guests! Even with the pool packed, there were still many chairs, tables and loungers free. My only complaint is that all pool and hot tub water looked murky. Although, again it was very busy! The guy running the continental breakfast did a great job keeping up with the high volume and still assisting guests (many of which are children). The area for breakfast was large and the selection was goog for a free breakfast.

    « Great hotel »

We had a blast. Decided last minute to stay at a hotel - booked this one for the pool and water park. Kids had fun in the pool and the "baby pool" - being 5 and 6, they are just starting to be old enough for the big pool and having the choice to go back and forth was great. Food in the restaurant was good and breakfast was excellent! We will be back!

We very much enjoy our stays at most Best Westerns. We only choose Best Western's when available. We have stayed here for the last 4 years of the MOSES Farming Conference. Of those 4 years, we seem to get the same room. We originally requested a room in a quiet area. The room we get, unfortunately is on the lower floor right next to the upstairs staircase. The structure must be wood, because the foot traffic up and down the hallway and stairway is very noisy. The foot traffic from the room above is also very noisy. We have had to call security in the past to quiet the noise down in the late evening. Fortunately this year, the family above us using the stairway and walking above us were very courteous and created minimal disturbance. Otherwise, the hotel is convenient for us, has a fairly comfortable room, except the big hard pillows and has a great breakfast with a very friendly host. The pool area is great, which is the reason for a full house of families enjoying each other and letting the kids have fun. Those little feet however, do make lots of noise running in the hall and in the overhead area. We don't blame them, just the old wooden structure of the building. We hope to return again, but will request a different room location. That's how much we are dedicated to the Best Western Hotels.

    « Best value »

The Best Western River Front hotel is one of the best run hotels I have stayed. It is clean, the facilities are well taken care of and the employees work hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast has a good variety, the food is hot or cold as required and tasty. The restaurant/bar has exceptional food at a very reasonable price. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. This hotel has it all.

    « Blast in LaCrosse »

If you enjoy water, this is the hotel for you. They have a fun water slide even for adults. The hot tub was really big for lots of friends. The breakfast was very good, with friendly service also. There were lots fun things to do in LaCrosse including a fun beer tasting at the Pearl Street Brewery.

    « Family Weekend »

I am from the area and planned a family/friends gathering at the Best Western. When we checked in, the customer service was very friend and informative, but once you walked past the friendly faces, the true hotel came out. This hotel has not changed since I was a child. There needs to be a serious over hall of cleaning! The pool was dirty, there was an odor throughout the entire building (moldy smelling), the pool area needed to be cleared out and cleaned - not to mention the bathrooms need some serious cleaning, and just an overall update.

    « Cheap overnight accommodation »

Stayed for a family visit. Seemed like a good place and a good price for overnight stay. Location off of the highway in an area full of other mid to low priced hotels. Free parking, free breakfast, friendly staff, basic accommodations, but tired, dated, older décor. Had some issues with room, but nothing out of the ordinary or unusual in a low budget hotel.

    « Best staff »

The room is average, but clean. Breakfast is comparable to what you receive at any of the chain hotels. But the friendly and helpful staff are what really make this hotel memorable. Was happy that there are pet friendly rooms allowing me to bring my dog and that the pool has "adult only" swim time in the morning

    « Poolside Room »

We stayed in a beautiful pool side room that was very modern and cozy. There is a large water-park suitable for young children with a large kiddie area and kid friendly 3" water-slide pool with basketball as well. . The is an excellent large continental breakfast with a large dining room. This is exactly what you want in a family hotel stay! I highly recommend the pool side rooms for young families.

« It was decent for the weekend »

Visited family in Lacrosse and needed a place to stay centrally located. Our kids were looking forward to the pool area at night but that ended up being a disappointment. The water too cold, the pool and hot tub over filled with people. The best was the under 1 baby and pregnant mom in the hot tub with a regular diaper on- started seeing the gel seep out and almost threw up. The "life guards" we're lazy and didn't enforce the hot tub rules. They did enforce my 4.5 year old not being able to go down the slide alone bc she's wearing a water safety device!? Never heard of that at any real waterpark we have been. The room's bathroom was bad- definitely needs a remodel. The rest of the room was clean and no issue really. The breakfast was lacking but the attendant was super nice. The area around the hotel wasn't the best but it is what it is.

« Dirty and Run Down is an Understatement »

Do not stay here. It is filthy and run down. The bathroom floor was so dirty I was afraid to stand on it, had to get extra towels to cover floor so I could use the bathroom. I skipped a shower one morning because I figured being dirty was better than touching the tub. The ceiling around the pool area leaks and the carpet is perpetually damp. I tried not to imagine how much mold was growing inside the ceiling tiles. This place should be condemned.

« Pool Area and Restaurant »

The newly refinished pool deck makes for a great environment to let the kids play ! The restaurant is very clean and the food is great. Portions are very large, so go there hungry !! Price is very reasonable. Nice friendly staff.

« Old, fairly good shape, snubbed by housekeeping »

Stayed two nights. Room not cleaned after first night. A 'do not disturb' sign was put on our door. I suspect the maid did it so that she'd not have to clean the room. We did not place it there. We ended up with two of those signs. When I told the front desk, they sent up two bath towels -- no hand towels, no washcloths, no bath mat. I'd not stay here again. The place has a huge pool/water play area. Perhaps it's a good place for families with kids to go swim at a moderate price.

    « Waterpark »

Grand Grand Daughter was particularly pleased with the pool. We enjoyed several hours there. Food in the lounge was perfect along with the kindliness of the bar tender. She is pregnant and a real doll.

good place for little ones as they have an area just for them poolside. continental breakfast has more than expected. good access to other eating places. also good shopping in the area. it is a good place for family gatherings.

« Best value for the money in La Crosse, WI! Loved it! »

We visit La Crosse often because our daughter studies Musical Theater at Viterbo Univeristy so this hotel marks our 4th different hotel in La Crosse. I have to tell y'all. It's our new favorite, especially when you consider the price. Not as nice as some of the other hotels in which we have stayed in La Crosse on the outside, but it's a different story on the inside. It's clean, quiet, the decor is nice, the beds are comfortable. We will be back again and again!

    « Super Duper! »

I stayed here before,Better than last time they were doing some renovetion again this time.I did not have problem with that.Bar and grill was nice decent enough to get something to eat and get going !I will stay again.

    « Great value »

Service is always good, food is good, nice bar, continental breakfast is really nice, rooms are clean, nice pool area, make reservations over the phone for best accuracy. This is my first call whenever I am in the area

Excellent Place to play, work, eat or just rest!!! Thank You for an awesome stay! Bed was nice and Breakfast was far better than most diners close by. My family enjoyed the pool and slide(shallower pool). We will see you this summer and next year as well!

    « great place! »

Stayed here for my daughters vollyball tournment and had a pool side room that was great and breckfast was omlets and potatos and sausage with all sorts of other choices.the location is right on missippi river and close to everything.

    « Very nice »

The hotel was very clean and the staff was pleasant. The breakfast was good quality (omelet, potatoes, waffles, cereals, donuts, etc.). Pool area was very nice... kids loved the big slide and it seemed well maintained and cleaned. Good location.

« Same nice stay Again! »

I have stayed here a couple of time last year. We have a great time in this hotel. Ardis was really nice specially in the breakfast buffet gave us an excellent attention, we really appreciate his good treat. Is really near good places and markets. I will recommend this Best western to Everyone.

    « Best Rate Ever!! »

I stayed here because I got an extremely good rate for the hotel. The hotel has several unique amenities, like the waterslide and restaurant, which many hotels do not have. For the price I paid, I did not expect the hotel to have so many amenities. That was a pleasant surprise!! I also really liked the clean room and enjoyed the service.

    « Great service!!!! »

One of the first things I look for when I go to a hotel is the service... And the service here was fantastic! The check-in process was quick and easy; it probably took me less than 3 minutes to check-in! Then when I went to the restaurant I encountered some great service there too!! I would highly recommend this place!

« Great quiet room with all the right amenities »

I stayed here for a business convention in La Crosse, and I greatly enjoyed this hotel! The room was extremely clean and quiet so I could do my work without any disturbance. The on site restaurant was perfect because I didn't have to leave my room to get something to eat! Also the service incredible and fast!

    « Slip Sliding Away »

Mini waterpark area was extremely cold. Moisture, heat and ventilation is clearly a problem here. Our room was a poolside room. Food was found when we slid the chairs around in the room, someone else's "rubbish" was under our bed. Kids had fun in the pool - that's the positive review.

    « Always The Best Western ! »

Best place to stay for business trips. I always stay here for business and i always receive great service, with nice and clean rooms! I would recommend this place to anyone!! I especially love the bar and grill because it means i don't have to go out to eat!

« You can not find a better place to stay. »

The people at this Best Western are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The Restaurant food is excellent and reasonably priced. The bar is clean, friendly, and drinks are good too. The breakfast has a lot of variety is always carefully prepared and ready to be eaten. You can be in a hurry and still eat breakfast. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. You could not find a better place to stay.

« Trip was fine until we checked out! »

We went up to visit some family over the holidays. The pool was nice, the rooms were clean, breakfast was everything was just fine until we checked out. I noticed an error on the folio that I brought to the front desk attention. The lady didn't quite understand how to adjust so she asked the front desk manager who never came out from behind his computer to help - just barked and said there was nothing they could do since I booked with a 3rd party. When I was explaining that I didn't book 3rd party but in fact booked directly at with a promotion they had for club members. He continued to tell ME I was wrong and there was nothing he could do about it all still in his office yelling from behind his computer. Didn't even offer a solution or do anything to help...its a shame too since I'm a corporate meeting planner that does a lot of business up north and always looking to add alternative cost effective hotels and conference centers to my clients' portfolios. Do you think I want to put my clients in front of someone like that?!?! How unprofessional...and all over an $8 difference.

    « Very Disappointed »

We stayed here for a new years eve party at the attached lounge. Which was horrible, the party was way oversold no places to sit or even dance. The food was average but there was a 45 minute wait and only three tables had people at them in the restaurant. Our room had cobwebs hanging from the fixtures, the patio door was broken making it useless. Which meant there was no way to get any fresh air in the room and the adjoining room must have had their heat up because the room was unbearably hot and dry.

    « good hotel »

We've never been impressed with the rooms, but they've been clean enough that we'll put up with them if we.. our room was very nice and clean and very spacious. The maintenance guy the brought us a luggage cart was very friendly

I chose this hotel because of the kiddie pool and I have 4 grandchildren who are all under the age of 4 that were going to come visit for 1-2 hrs at the hotel, when checking in I was provided 2 orange strips for pool with no further explanation, I learned later that I had to pay additional fees for these infants to be in kiddie pool. The second concern I had was with the "Continental Breakfast" offered from 6am-10am, my wife and I arrived at just before 9am to find it all but cleaned out of food. I managed to get a bagel and glass of Apple juice. She tried the waffle maker which was a disaster as it required nothing short of a jack hammer to get the pile of waffle pieces out of it. The third thing I would warn is the room walls are very thin and it was extremely noisy during our 4 day stay.

    « Nice hotel »

We stayed here on New Year's Eve - our room was very nice and clean and very spacious. Our only complaint was that we were on the first floor so when the people above us walked, our ceiling creaked very loudly. If you are staying here without kids, make sure your room is for enough away from the pool area because it's quite loud and the chlorine smell is very strong. We didn't utilize the pool area but I looked like a lot of fun for kids. They had a band playing in the ballroom which was do much fun! We've also been to the Black River Bar several times for comedy night and dinner. Their food never disappoints , can't say that for the comedy but it's still something fun and inexpensive to do on a Friday. Thank you for giving us an awesome New Year party!

    « Family get away »

Sandy at the front desk was very helpful and extremely friendly! The maintenance guy the brought us a luggage cart was very friendly and helpful as well. The morning breakfast attendant was super friendly and nice as well! The hotel is somewhat dated, but the room furnishings are updated. We throughly enjoyed our room. We had a king bed with a sofa bed. It was a spacious room and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small and the tub/shower was dated. Noise was not a problem in our room. The breakfast buffet wasn't the best hotel breakfast I've had at a Best Western, but it was ok. The pool area was cold and my daughters didn't swim much in the pool because the water was cold. But the pool area was nice, spacious and clean.

    « Disgusting rooms »

We've stayed here several times. We've never been impressed with the rooms, but they've been clean enough that we'll put up with them if we are traveling with children. Our nephew has really enjoyed the pool area in the past. This year, as a Christmas gift, I rented 3 rooms for my family so we could visit a relative in the area and the kids could enjoy the pool afterwards. Unfortunately, the pool was so cold, even the kids were shaking and getting out of it. At one point, I couldn't move in the hot tub because there were literally 17 people in it. Many were kids trying to warm up before going back to the pool. Parents were sitting in the pool area in their winter coats. My sister had a room near the pool. She said she set her heat to 66 and when she went to the room, her room felt much warmer. Our room was worse than what we typically experience. The bed was horribly uncomfortable. It felt like we were sleeping on a box spring. I always take clorox wipes when we come here as I expect to clean a little bit based on past experience, but this time the room was extra dirty. It wasn't vacuumed. There were bugs and cobwebs on the windows. There were bottle caps and a gold fish cracker next to the refrigerator, etc. My niece didn't report any cleanliness issues, but she didn't get much sleep. The walls are very thin and there were kids running around late at night and early in the morning. This prevented her from sleeping well. The worst part of all of this is when my sister was packing up, she was looking to make sure she picked up all of her son's things and she found dirty underwear and 1 dirty sock under the bed ruffle. Ewww! I was so embarrassed when she told me. (I paid for her room for her Christmas gift.) That was the final straw. I called the front desk to complain. They gave me two $25 travel vouchers to use at any Best Western. I took them, but it's unlikely they will be used. I can say with certainty that none of us will stay here again and it's unlikely that I will stay at another Best Western. In the future, we'll go somewhere with a smaller, warmer pool and much cleaner rooms that have more comfortable beds. La Crosse has a lot of options. PRICELINE users- If you bid on a 3 star hotel, this is the one you will get every time. I've quit using Priceline because of that.

Very nice room. We watched the Packers game at the bar. Some bar snacks and shots for a Pack'er score would make it a nice place to watch the game . nice pool area . We will be willing to come back in the summer and try the tiki bar along the river.

    « Nice Lodging ! »

I stayed at this hotel with my family and it was amazing! The waterpark was very enjoyable for my kids and I loved the restaurant and bar! Overall, it was a great stay and I will certainly tell my friends and family about this place!

    « Riverfront Place ! »

I stayed here for my work, was very nice and clean little old but very nice. Bar and restaurant had great service and great food! The place is right on the river, so I had a great view while I was there!

    « Awesome Business Hotel »

Stayed here for a business trip and it was a great hotel! This was my second time staying here and everything was fantastic: the service, food, room, cleanliness--Everything! Would definitely recommend!

    « birthday trip »

clean room, fairly modern decor. Liked having a fridge in the room. A little loud from the room above us, but we were near an exterior door and the hall & entry were surprisingly quiet. Toddler park, tiki bar & large patio, putting green might be nice for summer but we were there in Dec.

    « Probably not again »

We blocked a group of rooms for a hockey tournament and booked 2 adjoining rooms and were the first to book. We got there one room was on one side of pool and the other was on the other. Kelly was at the front desk and said wasn't her problem manager moved some people around, wow terrible costumer service. We finally did get two adjoining rooms, of course not poolside like we booked but same price. The trip went down hill from there with a rude bartender Jessica that night at the restaurant bar in hotel. We booked 14 rooms and no one was happy with this hotel. Bring ear plugs paper thin walls can here ice machine 5 rooms down. We will find different accommodations next year. The pool area is nice and when we had a different issue Candice at front desk was super. The breakfast in morning was also very good and gentleman running that was very accommodating.

    « great overnight »

We stayed here with another couple on recent overnight trip to see the Rotary Lights. I called a couple of months in advance and the hotel reserved two connecting poolside rooms for our two families, which was exactly what I was hoping for. The pools are great for kids under 10. My kids were comfortable and safe with the size of the pools, and we even ventured into the slide a couple of times. Clean, recently refreshed room and good variety at breakfast. They brought out different choices while we were eating, and the attendant was very friendly. Overall an incredible value for our two families.

    « Its great hotel »

Good hotel with great service. I have to say that it was amazing hotel which give you good comfort and amazing facility to stay and enjoy your self. one of the best hotel I have visited in my life. Must go with this hotel. its awesome.

« personnel at this hotel are terrific »

The personnel at this hotel are terrific. They are very friendly and helpful. The meals are excellent and reasonably priced. The bar drinks are excellent and also reasonably priced which is unusual. The wait staff and bartenders are very cordial. The breakfast contains variety, is well cooked, served at temperature and the personnel are very welcoming.

    « Not a good stay »

I was put in the wrong room in at check out. Had kid running around the hotel very early in the morning. Sounded like they were out side my window at 8 in the morning. Don't think i will being stay there again..

    « Croell Christmas party »

We were there for a company Christmas party, everything was great, the bartenders Mandy and Craig (sorry if I got this name wrong) were the best! Very pleasant and prompt with orders. They definitely went above and beyond their call of duty to make sure we were all happy! I would definitely go back to see them behind the bar!

    « Awesome time!! »

We had so much fun at Best western in Lacrosse, WI. There pool with slide, hot tub, and little kids water area was just what we wanted for the kids. Also, There was a bar and grill on site with continental breakfast FREE and there were a variety of a choices. The staff was very accomedating to our needs as well. There is no doubt we will be back again!!!!

« Great for family stays! »

This hotel is very nice. The room was clean and spacious. The only downside is if you're in the pool area and on the side by the kiddie pool, there's a bucket that fills up and dumps out in a loud splash every couple minutes. It can be hard to fall asleep to that right away, but you get used to the sound. I'm not sure why the hotel doesn't turn that off when the pool is closed overnight. The continental breakfast was fantastic. It had an array of items available including omelets and do-it-yourself waffles, which were a big hit with my family. And their breakfast blend coffee was very, very good. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room service was excellent as well. Ardis, who worked the breakfast area was extremely helpful and conversational. Our family liked him a lot.

    « As expected »

The good: reasonable rates, clean, friendly staff, on site bar and food The bad: Online reservation through hotel web site was wrong. Ordered king, was given other at check in, they did correct the issue at check in, lucky it was a slow night

    « Nice Hotel »

This is a very nice clean hotel. Front Desk Staff is friendly. Many updates have been done to the rooms. Comfortable beds. Nice pool area. Excellent breakfast included. Lounge is nice with entertainment on some nights

    « Stay out of room 224 »

We stay at this location every October. Staff is friendly, breakfast is pretty good, awesome pool, bar, and entertainment on weekends. Room 224 this visit was dirty filthy nasty. We refused the room and they upgraded us to a suite (only room available). 224 just has bad vibes, tore screens on windows, windows out of the tracks, beds weren't made, spider webs in every corner with residents (no kidding, true story), trash under the center table....we will NOT take that room again. Overall, it's a nice place with several amenities and a noon check out. We enjoy staying there and I'd recommend it. This last stay was a rare exception. I rate it as Very Good. Plenty of eating places around the hotel, and the next exit down has anything and everything. Really nice area.

    « Very nice visit »

We were in the La Crosse area doing some college visits. This hotel was not only right in the vicinity of the colleges we were visiting, but it was a nice size...large enough to offer nice amenities (though not really the pool was a really nice pool area, but more geared for smaller kids), but small enough that you often times were alone. (We were also there during the week.) We got an amazing rate for our room, and the breakfast is always nice.

    « A Wonderful Motel »

Our overnight stay at this motel was one of most enjoyable highlights of our vacation. We spent part of the evening sitting by the several pools in a cleverly designed room. A large room was the site for a fine breakfast in the morning.

« Wonderful stay for the family »

Great room, very quite, big rooms, loved the walkout patio our room had. Very professional and friendly staff. The free breakfast was by far better than anything I've ever had. The gentleman in charge of the breakfast Buffett was so very well mannered and loves his job very much. And he is very good at what he does. Only reason I did not give five stars was the pool is only 3 feet deep all around. And yes, this hotel is pet friendly.

« Great stay in newly updated Hotel »

This is a great hotel for a family vacation. The staff is excellent starting at the front desk with Sandy , The room attendants were very helpful and always asking if there was anything else they could do for us. The outside of the hotel has a fresh new look which looks great. The rooms all have new furniture, new beds and as well as new microwave and refrigerator. Hotel manager was very accommodating. Warm breakfast was excellent with very friendly staff.

    « Average Room »

They have done some remodeling at the motel, but not enough to be impressive. Some things in our room did not get cleaned; we had to turn the heater on during the night and it was noisy and not very efficient. Jacuzzi was nice.

« Fun pool for kids »

This is an older hotel that is in need of a remodel. The rooms are good size with a table, two chairs, mini fridge, and a desk. The beds in the room are full size not queen. The bathrooms are what need the most work as you can tell the age the tiles in the tub/shower loose and grout dirty as well as the faucet handle was loose making it hard to use. The plus side of the hotel was the nice pool area for the kids!

    « Great stay! »

We were in the Lacrosse area for an overnight stay. Check in went smooth despite the fact that someone was in training. Stopped in the lounge that evening for a drink and some appetizers. Order the sampler platter, it was huge! Good breakfast as well.

    « 5 Stars for Honest Employees »

We spent 2 nights here and originally were disappointed. The rooms (at least the one we were in) need renovation, especially the bathroom. Temperature in the room was either very hot or cold. No elevator to get to second floor. However the free breakfast was good and the indoor waterpark looked like it was great for families with young kids. However the best feature happened after we checked out. We accidentally left an electronic tablet in our room and didn't realize it until the next day. When we contacted the facility, housekeeping checked and it had been found when our room was cleaned and turned in. This type of honesty is something I expected years ago but wondered about in todays world. I give them a lot of credit for hiring honest people who seem to have the customer in mind! Makes up for any shortcomings in the room!

    « Great Stay »

Great stay at a nice and renovated motel. Beds were great. Great pool area for both adults and kids. Great breakfast and exceptional staff. Right on the river with a great area to sit, relax and converse with your friends/family overlooking the river and sunsets.

« Great Pool area, and wonderful employees »

The employees are very friendly and helpful, the pool area has 2 different pools 1 for small children and another one with a large slide. There is a sauna and a pool table. Very nice area. You are located on the river and it is peaceful, lock docks if you are a boater. Also Vollyball pit. I really enjoy my stay. They are always updating the hotel and grounds to keep it very inviting. The only con is I could not get cell phone service in my room. Tons of channels on the Cable TV.

    « Picked a nice place »

Returning from South Dakota and just like last time always the same friendly people, clean rooms, great food , great location. We will always return to this hotel,If the price is right like all the time.

« Was best like last time !! »

Lots of upgrades and improvements, new beds, new furniture, the best breakfast in town. Always get greeted with smiles and friendly faces. Can't wait until it's warm again so we can sit on the outside patio.

« Great Place to Stay »

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Lobby was very clean. Many updates have been done. Room was clean and quiet. Pool area is great place for families with children. Hot breakfast was great and there was a big variety. Excellent place to stay.

    « Good Choice »

One of the best overall experiences I had on a two week trip staying mostly at Best Western. Can't comment on exterior appearance as I arrived/departed in the dark. Appeared to be very pet friendly. Bed was very comfortable and refrig., etc. were of higher than usual quality. Very friendly at check-in, also very prompt and helpful with TV problem.

« Not Good on any Level »

We recently stayed here on our journey through the upper mid-West and Great Lakes area. What a disappointment! The hotel is in a less-than desirable part of town and there was only one restaurant (besides their own) which looked decent enough to eat at. Our room (#150) had mildew on the shower walls and the floors up above us squeaked so badly that we could hardly sleep. It didn't help that the people up there liked to stay up till late at night. The only real draw I could see was the indoor pool - it looked very nice, although the slide was closed when we were there..

« Kids liked the pool »

A little outdated, the neighborhood is just strip malls. Room and breakfast were adequate but not special. The view of the river was not capitalized on enough. The breakfast staff was friendly and efficient but the cleaning staff in the room was almost nonexistent from day 1 to day 2.
