BEST WESTERN on the Beach,Gulf Shores

Great stay! Family oriented place. We checked so many prices and this place was one of the cheapest. My wife and I chose price over comfort and had no idea how awesome and comfortable it would really be. A girl named Woshane (sweet little Jamaican girl) was so good to us! Her attitude alone sways my decision to return. Love that gal! Great stay! Great people! = Great vacation!

    « Awesome Location »

I brought my parents, hubby and toddler on a weekend to Gulfshores. And we were looking for a place to stay. It was off-peak already so the stay was around $80/night. We were initially assigned to a room on the upper right side of the building (facing the bldg). I checked the view and it was limited because of the adjacent building. So I requested to be transferred to a room with a view. The lady at the front desk was so patient and welcoming. She was able to find another room but on the other building. It was on the second floor. It was a room with a kitchenette with 2 Queen beds. It was overlooking the ocean. It has plates, spoons and forks already. It has a separate elevator. We saw some mosquitoes there on the hallway and elevator. We had breakfast at the Pancake House. It was great! It was not included in the booking. The bathroom was just a little small. But the view was awesome. It was just cold when we went out to the ocean as it was already October. If it was peak season, the price of course will be high. The swimming pool is located inside the small building infront of the Hotel. It was decent. It's 4 stars for me because of the proximity to the beach.

    « Weekend getaway »

The hotel stay was good, room was clean and had friendly Desk Staff. The weather could have been a little better but we made the best of it. The Restaurant Breakfast food was horrible, over cooked bacon and sausage (like eating jerky) and the Service was very poor.. I will not eat there again.

« Always a great time and so affordable! »

We always stay at the Best Western on the Beach when we go to Gulf Shores. The rooms are huge and very clean. The pool is sparkling and you are right on the beach! Spend a few more dollars and get an ocean view room. It is worth it! There is a restaurant downstairs, but we preferred to eat around the town. What we like most is that this is affordable!!

    « Average »

This motel is older however it does have a few things going for it. The overall motel is clean. It is located right in the beach and our room had a full size fridge sink and small oven. DO NOT eat at the pancake house which is in the motel. It is awful. There is no breakfast included.

    « Perfect Getaway »

Exceeded expectations!!! Clean room, friendly staff and great rate :) Very convenient to Hwy 59. From the moment we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised with the expeditious check-in, the friendliness of all the staff, the cleanliness of the room and the room was well stocked with plenty of towels. The Island Pancake Restaurant on the premise was a pleasant bonus!!! Indoor pool was great too.

« It's a hotel with the most uncomfortable beds around! »

When we visit the Gulf with our children we prefer to stay in a condo. Not only do we have the privacy of separate bedrooms but we also enjoy the use of a kitchen, and usually washer and dryer. On a very last minute weekend getaway during a busy holiday weekend we decided we'd stay at the Best Western. It's a hotel and I'd say you get what you pay for but in our case we paid a ridiculous amount to have lodging on the beach. The room had a musty smell and right off I noticed hair in the bathroom floor, along with sand in the kitchenette area. To make matters worse, the balcony area wreaked of urine! We decided to dine one morning at the on-site restaurant. Service was wonderful, the food okay, but the prices were through the roof. We would have eaten in our room and taken advantage of the mini-fridge, stove top, and microwave, but there was only 1 bowl and 2 mugs. Housekeeping did not remove our garbage from the room nor did they supply us with fresh disposable cups for coffee. Best Western, please do something about those horrible mattresses! Thank goodness our stay was for only 2 nights because it was the worst sleep I've had in a long time. As for the positives - we had a lovely view of the beach and staff at check-in were very friendly. I'm being quite generous giving this location an "average" rating. I'm seriously disappointed that we paid a prime amount for such a low quality hotel.

« One of the last hotels on the beach! »

With all the expensive condo's at gulf shores the is a really great hotel to stay at. The staff is very friendly and the beds are very comfortable and the room was updated and modern. There are rooms that have balconies that view the gulf waters right on the beach. We will definitely be back.

    2
    « just not impressive »

booked a room for one night based on the rating. I wondered where have these people stayed before. everything is dated, and just feels dirty. I just kept telling myself, only 1 night and its a best western.

    5
    « Relaxing »

Great place to stay. Nice rooms. We bookek two rooms for two nights and it was very relaxing. The rooms were nice size and we got a kitchenette in both rooms. The balcony overlooked the beach. The only complaints would be the hot tub wasn't hot and when we tried to sit on the balcony all we got was the smell of cigarette smoke coming from below.

    « Visiting »

Our visit was wonderful. Yes we will be coming back there soon . The rooms was clean and nice even the employees was very nice. We had a wonderful time there. The island pancake house was wonderful to have breakfast on the beach.

« Amazing Staff and a Great View »

We were amazed at how wonderful Treena, the housekeeper cleaned our room. She made sure everything was done perfectly. She made us feel like we'd known her for years. That is truly hard to find anywhere else anymore. Lashane at the front desk was so wonderful from the phone call all the way up until arrival, beautiful smile with a personality to match. We will definitely be back to this lovely place that felt like home on the island!

    « Cute »

Cute place! Would stay again. Rooms could be cleaner but all round good. My family and I took a summer vacation and stayed. Friendly staff and management seemed great! I am a blogger so I write about hotels, motels and B and B's. If u are looking for somewhere nice to stay that's family friendly I would say this is a cute, ok place to stay. Prices are a little high but all around good

    5
    « Great location »

Great hotel room. Easy walk to the beach. The rooms also have a balcony which overlooks the beach. When we visit next time this is the hotel we will be staying at. All of the great restaurants are within walking distance from the hotel as well. Very Pleased with our stay.

    5
    « Pleasure »

From start to finish, the customer service was tremendous. It really made our experience much, much easier than I anticipated....From the reservation over the phone, through the check in process, all the way through the check out process, the room, the view, the service was absolutely eloquent!

    5
« Great value during the week. »

Perfect for us. Inexpensive, clean, really nice staff, pool, beach. It isn't fancy and could use a little work here and there but we enjoyed our stay and would easily stay here again. Loved the positive music in the lobby.

    4
    « Nice quite retreat »

We enjoy the stay every time we vacation in the Gulf. a excellent retreat to get away and enjoy the gulf, sites and food in the area. We enjoy the Lamberts cafe, the US Alabama and the military exhibits around Mobil area. The water is beautiful and refreshing and peaceful. Just sit back and enjoy the beach activities, people watch or sit in the room deck and enjoy the sun from there if you don't like going down to the beach that day and have breakfast in the room if you like. we had a good time doing what we wanted while there.

    4
    « Overnight stay »

Beautiful view of the beach... counted dolphins all morning. The hotel was convenient to many activities, shopping and food. The beach was beautiful and not crowded. Easy drive down from Foley. We didn't use the pool. Parking was a bit tight.

    5
    « ocean view »

We was in room 628,awesome views, very clean, nice and quiet.spacious rooms. Shower was perfect..housekeeping does a wonderful job...Heather at the front desk was very helpful and nice, the other gentleman didn't get his name he was also nice and polite

    3
    « Acceptable »

The location, the pool & the staff make this place acceptable but I do not think I will be back. There are not many "hotel" options here so we tried this place because it was on the beach. The beds were comfortable, we had a patio overlooking the beach, & the pool was great. (3 ft only) but the room was terrible, old, dirty, falling apart.

« My husband and I went to Gulf Shores, Ala. for a few days and we did not have a reservation, big mistake. »

You walk into the hotel and your first impression is a clean reception area with very friendly staff. The girls at the desk were very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and places to see. They make you feel very relaxed and welcome. The layout of the hotel can be a little confusing but the rooms are clean and comfortable with beautiful views from your balcony. I definitely would stay here again.

    5
« Beautiful hotel on the sugar-white beach. Can't wait to go back! »

Absolutely beautiful family-friendly hotel. Right on the beach with room facing the beach and ocean. We were in room 304. 2 queen beds, kitchenette, balcony with table and chairs on it. Extremely clean and had good service while we were there. They did forget to replace the dish towels after we used them and they took them to launder, but that's a minor issue. Large room with plenty of room to move around. Had an indoor pool with natural light and an outdoor pool; both were nice. Within walking distances to souvenir shops, restaurants, etc. Air conditioner worked well. Beds were extremely comfortable. Reasonably priced, particularly compared to competitors. We hated to leave!

    5
« Unique features right on the beach rain or shine »

Loved this hotel very boutique feel in lobby but once you move on there is a big pancake restaurant then a pool with a cave ..Excellent beachfront access. Absolutely beautiful indoor pool across from parking. Adorable chairs set up inside of property to sit and look at beach but not walk to beach. Chair and umbrella rentals on beach from outside company $30 full day for double padded chair. Discount if not full day. Gift shop in lobby 24 hrs. Great value outstanding hotel. If you are extremely picky bathroom sink is a bit small. Room and bed was comfortable with refrigerator microwave sink and I think stove.

    « Everything was AWESOME »

This was a last minute vacation for my family before my son went back to school. We have not had a vacation in many years so we were very excited. We were not disappointed by anything during our stay. The location of the hotel was just minutes from many of the different attractions offered in the area. The parking lot was clean. The free wifi and high speed internet worked great during our entire stay. We stayed in room 319, it was clean with super comfy queen beds and pillows to die for. We liked that the kitchenette had a full size fridge. The coffeemaker worked great and the complimentary coffee was pretty good. It also had a nice sized stove and a microwave available. The room had an ironing board and iron, awesome blow dryer, clock radio and nice size flat screen tv. There is a vending machine and ice machine on the floor. The location on the beach is very cozy. The indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs were clean and enjoyable. The staff was super. LoShane was working the front desk when we checked out. She is very knowledgeable about the hotel and the gulf shores area and we didn't feel rushed at all while leaving and that was especially nice. We even bought us a pillow for the road! I will definitely book us with Best Western again, the price was very affordable and I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

« Good experience, great staff »

Just returned home from a visit to Gulf Shores. Hotel was exactly what I expected. Clean, reasonable rooms. Staff was great. My battery died the first night. Not only did the maintenance guy(Wes) offer to give me a jump start, he took me to Walmart to buy jumper cables. Then gave me a jump. Really nice guy!! Won't find that everywhere. All in all, a good experience.

    5
    « Great experience »

Hotel nice and right on the beach. Stayed in room 521, was next to elevator but did not make much noise at all. View from then Balcony was great!! Room was nice and smelled clean. Bed comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Loshane who checked us in was awesome!!! I can not say enough about her. So friendly and made sure our stay was great.

    4
« Would Stay Here Again »

Hotel had clean rooms and a friendly, helpful staff. It was located right on the beach with two pools (indoor and outdoor) as well. Restaurant food was good but they need a hostess and better organization.

    2
« Good but not great. »

Stayed in room 99, room is arranged where the bed is right next to the interior hallway and elevator. There was so much noise that it kinda ruined the stay. Avoid room 99! Room was very dated, but not bad at all. The beach was nearly on top of the hotel. When we arrived there was a roach on the ceiling, but that was the only bug I saw at all.

    4
    « good experience »

good experience at best western was nice on the beach at gulf shores. the beds were very nice and comfortable. directly on the beach. close to all the attractions and easy to get to. would definately stay there again or recommend to friends. next time would pay a little more for beach view. problem with elevator. and because on the 3 level side didnt realize where the outdoor pool was and person registering us didnt advise of the hotel breakfast or the chairs on beach/etc.

    5
    « Awesome »

I have been wanting to go to the beach for months and so this particular Monday I asked my grandson if he wanted to go with Nana to the beach, he said that would be awesome, so on we wet. We had no clue where we were going to stay, I just knew it had to be on the beach with a view. We stopped at the Best Western and it was Awesome

  • 5
« Excellent Service and Courteous Staff »

The room was very clean and the staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful. The price of the items in the lobby store were very reasonable - we were pleasantly surprised at this. The Christian background music made us feel very comfortable. It would be nice to have an in-room safe. The hotel is directly on the beach with gulf view rooms - the view is awesome! The pool is very inviting - our children always got to know all the other children in the pool and we enjoyed meeting their parents. This is a very family friendly hotel. We will definitely be coming back.

    4
    « on the beach »

This is our second time to stay at the Hotel. We did cut our stay short by one day due to beach construction that blocked off the beach. There was still access to the beach by walking down the beach, but with the back of the hotel, and adjacent property on one side blocked off, we thought that the beach would become too crowded. Once the construction is over, it will be back to normal.

    5
    « Remodeled, quiet, relaxing. »

Our family enjoyed the stay! We stayed two nights and felt completely relaxed. Our room had been recently remodeled. Being that it was directly on the beach, it would be impossible to keep the sand out of the walkway because there were guests going back and forth from the beach all day, so we were understanding of a little sand in the carpet.

    1
« Horrible do not stay here! »

I first would like to say how important it is for people to be honest about their reviews because I read them before booking a room! This hotel is the worst I have EVER stayed in and I have traveled all around the world! I thought after paying $499 for one night that it would be very nice! Boy, was I shocked when I saw the room and the bathroom was even worse! I will take into consideration that it was getting close to the end of Summer Break! EVERYTHING about this hotel was dirty, the elevator, the hallway leading to our room, the carpet in our room was so nasty I would not walk barefooted on the carpet or let our children!!!! The TV did not work but for a few minutes. The bathroom is very tight for one person and I am a small lady! Upon our departure the elevator was broken and I had to ask housekeeping to help us and I called the front desk, after 15 minutes it was working again! We had breakfast in the hotels pancake house. The waitress spilt a glass of ice water on me, no worries accidents happen! The food was ok, not like everyone raves about! The staff in the restaurant was great! I have been to Gulf Shores many many times and have always had a great time! But, this was not the case for this trip! I would NEVER stay nor recommend anyone else to stay at this hotel unless there was a complete makeover! I think the owners really need to take a good look at their investment! I hope this helps someone!

    « Mini-Vacation on the Beach »

My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night while traveling down the gulf coast. The staff put us in room 426. It had 2 queen beds that were extremely comfortable. The room had a beautiful view of the white sandy beach and emerald water! Most of all, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and gracious enough to give us a free breakfast coupon at the pancake house restaurant located in their lobby. All in all, it was pricey, but it is on the beach.

    5
« The staff was wonderful »

The staff at the Best Western on the Beach was so personable. They went way above the necessary thing to make our stay so pleasant. We only had to mention something and it was handled. The room was very clean and the location to shops and places to eat was great. The girls that worked the reception desk at night were so pleasant to be around. They helped with anything we needed included giving great tips about area attractions. We will defiantly be back soon.

    4
    « Family get away »

Nice family get away. Room was spacious and clean, however the bathroom was rather small but, it served the purpose. Very quiet, family atmosphere, located right on the beach within walking distance to souvenir shops and restaurants. Maid service was offered everyday, however we just requested clean towels and trash collection daily. This did appear to be an older hotel, but our room appeared to be recently updated.

    5
« Much needed rest and relaxation »

My daughter and I had a wonderful mother/daughter time. The weather wasn't that great, but the room was very pleasant and the balcony looking out at the beach and water was relaxing. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful.

    4
    « Spring Break March 2016 »

We took our daughter for spring break to visit with friends. Great location and clean room. Great indoor pool and hot tub ! Young lady at desk during our checkout was sweet and helpful! I cant remember her name, sorry.

    5
« Great service great view! »

The staff was excellent and the view from our room was breath taking. The rooms were standard but you are paying for the view and being right on the beach The staff personally greeted us and always made sure to ask if we were enjoying ourselves. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We will be back.

  • 4
    « Good for a quick getaway »

Older hotel but very clean & neat. Beds were extremely comfortable and pillows super soft. The rooms are bare minimum but we came for the beach. Had a great ocean view from the 3rd floor. Pools were nice. Free parking!

    5
« Can't get closer to beach, some staff went above and beyond. »

The rooms are utilitarian. They're as advertised, but nothing special. But we didn't stay here for the room! The staff was adequate, except for Wes, who went above and beyond, being helpful, friendly, and gracious. If you're gonna spend a lot of time in your rooms, you may want to find somewhere else, but if you want to be out on the beach and you want a room that's really close, you aren't gonna find much better.

    5
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

After reading multiple bad reviews, I was going to cancel my reservation! I'm really glad I didn't, this was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in! The rooms were decent sized, the beds were comfortable, the pillows were amazing and the staff was phenomenal! Everyone was very friendly and went above and beyond to be sure we had everything we needed! I will definitely be staying here for years to come!

    5
    « Family Vacation 2016 »

The hotel is in a very nice location. We had ocean view on the second floor with the Pancake house right in front of the hotel. The staff were very helpful as well. We were able to get adjoining rooms for our kids so me and my wife could have privacy.

    4
« Great view, below average service. »

This hotel is a little pricey however the location is worth it. The kitchenette in our room was great, but the house keeping staff was lacking in cleaning our room, taking out the trash, and even bringing us towels. Which we had to go down to the front desk to find. Beach access was great.

    5
« Best Place In Gulf shores To Stay! A Beach Front Hotel! »

LaShone was EXTREMELY helpful! even though it was a busy time at the front desk, not only did she help me but she also introduced me to her manager who was very glad to have us their. The room that we had was magnificent!

    4
    « Can't beat the view! »

This motel is right on the beach. It is walking distance to entertainment and shopping. We LOVED the balcony at sunset time. Be aware that unlike most Best Westerns, this one does not include a free breakfast. We had one minor issue, and that was at check-in. We arrived late after a long drive that included car trouble. When we got to our room, the roll away we had requested was not there. After waiting close to an hour for the front desk to bring it, my husband finally went down to get it himself. But this was not a deal breaker. It was a fantastic value for the views and beach proximity. We hope to go back soon and stay here again.

    5
« Don't miss the BEST of the BEST »

We arrived 2 hours early, our room was ready and we were offered NO early check in fee. The employees were very accommodating, pleasant, and professional. Our room was fantastic, we were on the 6th floor with an ocean view which was beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel experience for your next trip to Panama City Beach Florida.

    4
« Best Western on the Beach »

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. I wish the pool was bigger. It had a rock waterfall that would have been beautiful if the waterfall was actually working. The kids loved it, but the pool again was just so small.

    4
    « Great view »

My husband, cousin and I stayed here for vacation. Pros: Great customer service from front desk staff (especially Heather). When we accidentally booked our room through a hotel booking site instead of the hotel website, Heather gave us great advice on how to fix the problem and then gave us a discount on our room to compensate our trouble even though it wasn't their fault)! Room is right on the beach (balcony hung over sand), great location. Absolutely fantastic food at the pancake house of the hotel (keep in mind, not included with the cost of the hotel). Cons: Rooms feel a little dirty (ours was clean, I believe this "dirty feel" could be be from the humid feel the beach can sometimes have). Bathrooms are so small you barely have room to dry off and the kitchen has no utensils to cook with. Would recommend this hotel if you want to be right on the beach and are on a limited budget. We would stay there again.

  • 5
« Great Customer Service! Great view! Awesome beach! Onsite Pancake House with good food! »

Enjoying my stay! Great place! Older but clean and comfy! Thanks Heather for helping us move to a room with a kitchenette! You were so polite, courteous, and accommodating! Great view! Everyone is so friendly- front desk, restaurant staff, housekeeping, even guests! I'll be back! 7/16/16

    « Decent, nice view »

The property is a little dated but the staff is awesome, from the front desk to the maintenance man, very friendly and helpful. I had a problem with the sink in the room draining, maintenance was there within 5 minutes to fix it. I would definitely stay here again.

    3
    « Old »

This BW needs to be redone. We stayed 5 nights at an average of 300 a night. Which was too much in my opinion. The maids cleaned our room each day but we had to ask and it was hard to communicate because they spoke very little English. They tried and I give them credit for that. Our room had a stove top(2 eyes) sink and small fridg. But almost nothing as for pans and no utensils. We didn't cook much, just made cold stuff. The balcony is a joke, so small that you could hardly use it. Shabby is an very accurate description!

    2
    « shabby »

The location of this hotel is GREAT, right on the beach, but the hotel and rooms are shabby. The pool has a water fall that does not work. There is no free breakfast. The maid did not clean the room after being asked to come back.

    5
    « Birthday celebration »

Hotel is right on the beach. Our room was clean. Bed and pillows were great along with the A/C. We also had a balcony room. Beach was nice and clean also. Staff greet you every time you walk in. Very friendly.

    4
    « Excellent Staff! »

We showed up to Gulf Shores with no place to stay. We called the Best Western on The beach. Allen took care of us and hooked us up with a room beach side for $30 less than Hotels.com was advertising. The room was clean and simple the bathroom and shower looked new. It had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The outdoor pool was open all night. The only issue I had was there was no free breakfast. In fact the breakfast was $10 a person and up! The staff in the restaurant was friendly and helpful. I would go back to this hotel but definitely go somewhere more reasonably priced for breakfast.

    1
    « Worst Western »

Worst Western (not best). never, never, again! This place charges over 300. Per night for a room so sub par it's criminal! We had a room that was given a kiss and a promise from the housekeeping staff and they never kept their promise. The bed was not turned over and we found 2 bloody pillows that had been left. Makes me believe all they did was pull the covers up from the last guest. The coffee maker still had grinds from the last guest as well . Just GROSS! We had no amenities like shampoo etc. Lucky I had my own. There were drywall pieces missing and ceiling tiles falling and mold in the shower. When confronted management barely shrugged their shoulders and could not have cared less. Let me say it again... Worst Western...Never, Never, Never Again. Consumer beware of biohazard in your bed!

    5
    « Great Vacation »

This is a very nice motel sitting right on the beach. There is ample parking, an outdoor pool, an indoor pool, and a breakfast cafe. Rooms are big with a nice bed. My room was clean and was cleaned every day. I had a patio overlooking the pool and with a great view of the ocean. We will be back.

« The beach is amazing »

The room was clean, view of the gulf from the balcony was beautiful, the staff were helpful and friendly. Plenty of food and drink in walking distance. Did not eat at the onsite restaurant, but it certainly smelled good walking by. Not one bad experience.

« Wonderful front desk staff!!! »

This review is for customer service. I've traveled everywhere in the US and out and I will tell you this staff is the warmest and most helpful group I have ever experienced. They genuinely want to make your experience a great one! I encountered a bit of a problem with family connections and these folks were the kindest I've ever met Thank you from the bottom of my heart. PS-I did enjoy myself after that stressful day??

« right on the beach »

This hotel is right on the beach...we just walked out of the lobby and relaxed all day! The rooms are a little dated but very clean. I highly recommend renting a chair and umbrella from the service provided directly in front of the hotel. Roy is an awesome attendant!! One of the best relaxing vacations I have had in a long time! Also within walking distance of the Hangout! i

« Clean room, beach access »

The lady at the front desk was very friendly, the room was very clean & had a full kitchen, which was unexpected. The hallway was dreary and almost creepy, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the hall! :) Loved how easy it was to just walk outside onto the beach from the hotel elevator. The beach was super clean, and the hotel had a convenient outdoor rinsing area. Lots of shopping nearby. Nice balcony to hang wet swimwear.

« Wonderful location, great service, and very relaxing stay! »

This was our first trip to Gulf Shores and we chose the Best Western based upon reviews from other visitors. We were in an oceanfront room with a kitchenette with two queen beds. The property is a bit dated but very clean and the view/access to the beach was second to none --- we were on the beach w/n 3 minutes from walking out of our room. We stayed at the property mid-week and the rate was very comparable to that of other places we could have stayed at right on the beach. We had to check out a day early due to events at home and the front desk staff was very accomodating. The only real negative I can report was that the bathroom was very small. Not sure if that is a function of having the kitchenette-style room but it was clean and functional so not a real big deal to us. We will definitely stay there again.

« Price gouges on weekends »

No toilet paper holder, missing refrigerator rails, Pancake House prices are stupid high. Indoor pool is a shelter built over a pool in the middle of the parking lot, therefore you have to go OUTSIDE to access the INDOOR pool. Probably will not stay in Gulf Shores again.

    2
« Poor hotel for the price »

Not worth the high price. Old hotel. Location is on the beach and in a great location. The indoor pool was extremely hot. The outdoor pool is very small. Hotel does not offer any beach or pool towels. Must use room towels.

« A Great Place to Stay; A week on the Beach!!!! »

Our family just returned from Gulf Shores and had the most delightful week of vacation. The stay at the Best Western on the Beach was the perfect location and the staff was outstanding!!! From the check in through out the week we were made to feel like we were the most important guests in the hotel. Michelle led the way of staff that were so helpful, kind and friendly!! We had a room with a view of the Gulf and would not change a thing if we were returning tomorrow. Great Week!!!!!

    « First family vacation »

We loved this location it is right on the beach and was perfect for our family stay. The staff was great especially Trena ! Location was perfect for dinner , shopping and site seeing. I would recommend this place. Most everything in in walking distance be sure and visit Rita's for ice cream treats.

    4
    « Wonderful Stay »

Great location, rooms spotless, comfortable beds. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant every day and it was excellent. We would definitely recommend and return to this hotel.

    « Awesome »

Omg I loved it right by the beach clean room the beds were amazingly comfortable and the pool and jacuzzi was the best the only thing I disagree with you should not have to buy your breakfast when you pay 1500.00 for a room they should have a free breakfast or give you food coupons while your there!!

    3
    « Weekend Stay »

Great view of the gulf and walking distance to restaurants and bars. Rooms are not very sound proof and music/TV can be heard from surrounding rooms. Elevators are slow. Smoking is allowed near elevator and you have to walk through the smoke.

    « Can't wait to come back! »

We had an excellent experience during our stay! The staff was very friendly and professional. We absolutely loved our room, it was clean and looked like it had been recently updated. We stayed in the King studio suite and we will definitely be requesting it when we come back!! The location was great, so close to everything! Nice clean beach, amazing indoor pool pool and spa and a really nice outdoor pool as well. Can't say enough about it, just ready to go back very soon!!

    2
    « Not impressed »

Our ocean view consisted of 75% wall and 25% ocean view. The staff was not friendly and thought the price was high for just an 'average' room. It is close to the beach which is nice. I wasn't happy with this hotel and we won't stay again. The restaurant in the inside is outrageously price me and not that good.

    5
« Best place to go for family fun! »

Awesome rooms right on the beach! Private beach, both indoor and outdoor pools !! Can't say enough about the friendly staff, clean rooms, fantastic pancake restaurant in the hotel. Walking distance to sea and suds or the pink pony. Only minutes to all the best souvenir shops. We will definitely be back!!

    3
    « Average beach hotel »

Was an average hotel. Little high on price for what you got. It is on the beach! I mean as soon as you get out the stairwell it was a matter of 20 ft then you were in the sand. It needed some maintenance and updating. When you look back from the beach to the hotel it looks a bit out of place cause this only being 5 floor hotel with the next door condos being 20 floors. Over all its an alright place.

    4
    « great view »

staff one of the best I have ever encountered. Only thing is room was kind of small for price. the view was to kill for. on delivery service for food was pizza. only one elevator but you can live with that

    3
« Best Western on the Beach Gulf Shores »

Older property but well kept. Good beach access at the property and very close to public beach and public facilities. At peak times parking is available but not necessarily convenient to the room. No free breakfast bu Pancake House integral to the property.

    2
« The view was the only good part »

We arrived at the hotel late on a Wednesday and checked out on Friday, so it was a short stay. Our room was hot, cramped and uncomfortable (the AC was turned all the way down to 60 degrees and it was still sweltering in there. Also, the ice machine didn't work (and wasn't fixed after reporting it) and the phone in the room didn't work. We did have a great view of the beach and the hotel itself was on the beach. Because it is a pretty small hotel, the beach in front of it was not terribly crowded, nor was the pool area. It would have been nice if there was a restaurant or bar inside the hotel to avoid having to trek over to the extremely crowded Sea N' Suds or Hangout locations. Even a poolside bar would be nice. Also, you had to pay a separate company to rent one of the umbrella shaded chairs and couldn't just charge it to your room. Overall, we had fun but the hotel is not one I would recommend if you are going to Gulf Shores. At almost $300 per night, it wasn't worth the cost.

    4
« Great location, ok standard. »

This is no luxury hotel, but not a too basic motel either! In the middle of it. Very friendly staff, fabulous location at the beach and great ocean views from the room. Superb beach! (Downsides, although not very important: air condition system not very good, chlorine smell in room and hallways, motel atmosphere)

    « Great Getaway »

This was a 1st trip to Gulf Shores, and by far, a great trip. Very clean property, and the Island Pancake House, was a very nice breakfast. Pecan pancakes were very yummy, and the rooms were unbelievably clean. We had a direct walk to the beach and, although there were some shells, and i would recommend wearing shoes down to the water, the view and seagulls made up for it. once, i accidentally dropped a peanut off the balcony, and within minutes, we had several seagulls 'asking' for more peanuts! Great trip! Will be back!:-)

    4
    « Quick Stay »

No problems with the room except one bed was very soft. Might be OK for kids though. Room was mainly for beach vacationers with a little kitchenette. Not a bad price for a beach front hotel, but the peak season hadn't started yet. No free breakfast, but a nice little restaurant located with the hotel.

    3
    « Birthday get away »

This hotel was what I could find for the days I wanted to get away. It is not crowded, great view of the ocean. The room was reasonable size, well laid out with everything you would need except extra hooks or towel rods in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable. All the above would have made it an excellent stay and great value EXCEPT there were used condom wrappers- one in the drawer and one under the night stand! So if they improved there cleaning crew, it would be great. Walk across the street to Waffle House instead of bothering with the folks at the Island Pancake house- enough said on that.

    5
« Great 1st visit to Gulf Shores! »

We visited Gulf Shores for the 1st time this weekend. Happened to walk in to ask a question about their Pancake House and Heather was so awesome that we ended up changing hotels and staying there Sunday night. The room was very big and comfortable with any amenities that we needed. We were directly on the beach with an awesome view! We will be returning to this hotel in July due to the great customer service that we received from Heather as well as Bobby!

    4
    « Very accomadating »

When I arrived I was in a room on the street side - the staff, Heather I think, was very helpful & moved me to a beachside view! Plenty of parking, staff all very good, property to notch! My only negative was night latch not attached to the wall. Did not eat breakfast, wasted to, looked so delicious!

    5
    « hangout »

The Best Western was optimally located for Hangout. amazing location. nice, clean room. The staff was excellent. Very attentive, kind, and genuinely interested in making sure we had everything we needed. Healther, Stephanie, and Michelle Rock!

    2
    « Friendly but overpriced »

The hotel is very old and our door didn't shut well enough for me to feel comfortable there. The price is outrageous for such an old hotel and they don't even offer the usual free coffee and breakfast. They do have a restaurant that they recommend but don't even give you a coupon for a discount. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean but at $320 a night other than having a beach it is nothing I would want to go back to.

    2
    « Fair! »

The hotel is old. That the building is old is obvious. The halls are narrow and have a musty smell. The hall carpet was dirty. The room was just adequate. The room did have a small refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was barely adequate and way to small. The 'balcony" was small with old plastic chairs. The ocean view was nice but every thing else detracted from it. Worse, they double charged us and we still haven't gotten that corrected!

  • 2
    « Dirty carpet throughout!! »

Clean bed. No bugs seen. Hot shower. Carpet in the room and halls looked like it was from the 70's. My daughter's socks turned black from walking only in the room. Can not recommend until this place has some major renovations. Also, if you need a crib, there is only one available for the entire place. My buddy rented it for his son and it had a wheel missing, was wobbly, and looked dirty.

    5
    « Millie stuckey »

Wonderful place to stay. Rooms clean, very friendly staff from checkin to checkout. You have to try blueberry cheesecake pancakes. They are not on the menu but were recommended by our waitress. The hotel motto is "Aim to please" and they really do try. We will stay here again next time we are in Gulf Shores.

    5
« Awesome stay in Gulf Shores!!! »

the location was perfect, the staff was friendly, the accommodations were superb! We stayed in our of the private cottages, I loved that we had all the pleasures of home. The huge front porch allows you to hear the waves crash, smell the salt air, but still enjoy the privacy of a residence. The house was well stocked and the beds and sleeper sofa were very comfortable. Every shopping area and a bunch a awesome restaurants are literally 6 blocks away. Within 2 miles there are several attractions plus the free beach. Could not have found a better accommodation for the value.

    4
« Great beds and pillows!! »

We spent three nights at the Gulf Shores Best Wedtern on the Beach. The pillow top beds were fantastic as were the pillows because there were both 2 soft and 2 firm pillows on each bed. The toiletries were also good quality, Bath & Body Works. The hotel itself is modest looking but you can't beat the location. The beach starts about 30 steps from the elevator. In addition the front desk staff that checked us in were fantastic and so helpful and kind. Overall I would highly recommend it.

    4
    « Short Get away »

This was our first time staying on the beach during a vacation. it was a great experience. locations was very nice. over all the hotel and price was a good deal as well. We are very pleased. We look forward to booking with them again.

    « Great View »

Had a great time. Clean, comfortable, great service and friendly people. The view was excellent and the cafe in the hotel was a great place to eat and convenient. When in gulf shores you could not ask for a better place to stray.

    4
    « Nice friendly staff »

We enjoyed our stay here to visit with friends in the area. All staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside we could see was that it seemed a bit pricey both for the accommodations and their on site restaurant but guessing they are probably in line with other hotels for Gulf Shores.

    5

    « Beach front paradise »

Prime location..right on the beach.. Walking distance to several restaurants and souvenir shops. Beds are comfortable--especially the pillows! We had a room with a kitchenette facing the gulf and it was beautiful. Balcony has table and chairs so you could sit outside and have a beautiful view of the gulf. Hotel staff was wonderful- especially Michelle! She went above and beyond to make sure our trip was enjoyable. Geraldine from housekeeping was amazing as well! Very friendly staff! Very clean. Will most definitely stay here again.

« Riding the Southern tier on a tandem bicycle. »

We we greeted cordially, but we had to wait an hour for our room. The desk clerk gave use some ice for our drinks and we headed out to the pool area to sunbath. We were right off the water so I walked down the beach? The room was nice, a little smaller than usual and on the 2nd level so we parked the bikes in a secure area the hotel provided. Clean room with effiency, good bed and sheets. Wfi was a little slow but ok. Nice little balcony to sit out on, not waterfront (25$ more). Good resturants in walking distance.

« Awesome, clean, and on the Beach!!! »

Awesome, Clean, and on the Beach. The manager was polite and very accommodating. (extra parking across the street for big trucks and trailers). The pool was nice and clean. The cleanest and best Hotel on the beach in Gulf Shores!!! The next time we go to Gulf Shores we will be definitely going back to the Best Western. Hands down.

    « Beach Paradise »

We did not get a room facing the beach . The simple fact is I want to be setting on the beach if I have tie to set and look at it . The hotel staff was wonderful . The beds at this hotel are so comfortable . They have wooden lounge chairs on the beach so you don't have to drag a chair with you . Honestly it was so quiet and relaxing I get a much needed vacation and rest . I love this place and the atmosphere is perfect its clean and I don't think we will ever stay any place else in the Gulf . We chose a room with a fridge and it was the perfect choice

    5
« Amazing location, excellent staff and clean/ updated accommodations. »

I stayed in one of the cottages across from the beach and I highly recommend staying there. It is a home away from home. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and overall the cottage has a homey feel. You also get access to the hotel pool and hot tub which is very convenient. I loved my experience with The Best Western and can't wait to visit again!

    « Has it all! »

Beach view rooms, outdoor pool and hot tub overlooking the beach, offers hotel rooms or cottages, restaurant Island Pancake on property(which also overlooks the beach), chairs on the beach for your use, what more could you need??? All that plus a very friendly and accommodating staff made for a very relaxing weekend. We will definitely be back!!!

« Perfect little run away »

Great location, right on the beach with pristine clean sand, cool pool & Hot tub. Offers chairs on beach, water sports rentals a few steps away, & lots of restaurants & beach bars with a short walk. Staff was very pleasant, helpful & true southern charm. Island Pancake House, restaurant inside, has amazing food(best grits ever), exceptional prices, overlooks the pool. We stayed in one of the cottages located across the street, all the amenities of home, nice neighborhood. Huge porch for hanging out, washer & dryer, dishwasher, tubs in both bathrooms, big driveway, access to all hotel amenities. Right in the tourist area, can walk pretty much everywhere, bike rentals offered nearby too. Made for one heck of an great girls weekend getaway!

    5
    « On the beach! »

This place is perfect, except for no free breakfast. While there is a pancake place on-site, it is nothing to write home about. Other than that, this is our go-to place for a short weekend beach trip!

« Cold indoor heated pool. »

The front desk ladies are very nice and helpful. They listen to your complaints and report them. They offer ideas of where to eat. The noise from construction is super loud, but the manager limits the timing to an hour at a time. The indoor heated pool was COLD. We could not enjoy it, which was one reason we paid extra to stay here. My mom would have benefited from the pool on her stiff joints/muscles. We did enjoy the hot tub which was bath water temp - not hot. Our view from the handicapped room was great The outdoor pool was pretty but no one was using it - too cold outside. They need a ramp to get into the indoor pool and to block the parking spot in front of the door - as we could not use the walker to get into the pool area. Our stay was nice but could have been better. Our last night some lady and two kids were screaming late into the evening for over an hour, and I had to call downstairs. The man at the desk took care of the problem immediately and he was nice on the phone. If I go again it would have to be summer months since they say they can't raise the water temp in the heated pool. I think over priced for what we got. Had a much better stay in two other Best Westerns for half the price and that included a full breakfast - Sweetwater and Daphne locations. The rooms were clean. The mini frig is hard to use since it is in a low cabinet and moves around when you try to shut the door. Hard for any handicap or regular person to get into it.

    5
    « Awesome Stay!! »

Out stay was only one night, but we absolutely loved it! The staff we interacted with (during phone call making reservation, front desk staff and a couple cleaning people) were very friendly. We got an amazing deal on an oceanview room with a great balcony to relax out on and soak in the view. The room was clean and while you could tell it was old, it was nicely updated. Not your typical hotel room by any means, and I am extremely picky and a major germaphobe! If you're looking for a ritzy five star hotel, this is probably not going to please you. But if you just want a nice and clean place to stay with an amazing view and friendly staff, this is your place!! We will definitely return. (As you can see by my photo, the view from our room was beautiful. We all got a kick out of our breakfast time "visitors", who flew right up to our balcony!)

    « PERFECT BEACH WEEKEND »

I love, love, love this place. Its so clean and comfortable and the best beach view. My sister and I too a runaway weekend. We stayed at this Best Western several years ago. We loved it. Trena, our cleaning staff was the nicest person. She made it even better. She is fantastic and asked us if we needed something each time we ran into her. She is awesome at customer service. Can't believe she is cleaning rooms, I mean she is great at that job, but with that personality and customer service skill, she should be doing something where she can utilize those skills more. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Great views....great staff..quiet room...comfortable bed.! THE Location Is superb...You can walk easy 1/4 to 1/2 mile to at least 5 of the best seafood restaurants here. Pink pony especially for good food and fun. Great breakfast at the Island pancake house right below your room. Moderately priced and excellent. Pier within a mile. Wonderful stay!

    « Peaceful Ocean View »

We were on a two night stay for a friend's wedding. The staff was amazing, the room was amazing, and the view was breathtaking! We did encounter some construction going on in the room below us. The noise was annoying, but only lasted about an hour.

Best Western on the Beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama is very clean, pleasantly decorated, and the staff is very friendly, polite and efficient. I always stay here when I come to the beach. « One Night Stay! »

We stayed at the Best Western on April 2nd for one night. We took the kids to the beach for a short stay since it was their spring break. This hotel has clean rooms and the front desk staff were friendly. The pancake house inside the hotel had good food. We had to report to the front desk staff that the pool was cold. The indoor heated pool is one of the main reasons we chose to stay at this hotel since it was early April. The indoor pool was suppose to be heated but it didn't feel heated at all. The indoor pool was very cold! Not sure if we will stay here again since we wanted an indoor heated pool and this pool was clearly not heated. In my opinion, this hotel is over priced. The elevator smelled like urine. One good thing is that the room was clean.

« Modest hotel with perfect location »

I rated this hotel as average since there was not a "GOOD" option, otherwise I would have rated it as good. The hotel is dated, but they do try to keep it updated the best they can with paint and decor. However, because of it's age it has small rooms, very small bathrooms and smells like an older hotel. That being said, it enabled our family to stay beachfront on spring break on a tight budget. We got a room with a kitchenette and were able to have a balcony with a million dollar view, quick and easy access to the beach and a comfy bed for a great rate. The hotel staff was very friendly and the indoor pool option was great since it was a little chilly for outdoor swimming while we were there. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great location on a modest budget!

    « Good, clean fun! »

Our family decided to spend a few days in Gulf Shores, AL for some relaxing, fun time on the beach. Our decision to stay at the Best Western was a great decision. Very clean, genuinely nice staff, great view, nice price, wonderful beaches - all during spring break. Wonderful experience for our family.

    « Great service »

This was my second visit and I would recommend this hotel. Clean rooms and very convenient to restaurants. We had a balcony, oeann view room. Great. My niece from north Georgia was with me and her 15 year old son. She was impressed with how clean the hotel was. Would definitely stay again.

    2
    « poor stay »

Fast check-in and nice lobby, filthy fridge-especially on the bottom, , leaky sink in the bathroom, filthy bathroom walls and floor with long black hair all over that stuck on sandals and feet (very disgusting), filthy and "powdered" carpet, cover on bed hadn't been washed in ages by the smell and feel, bad odors, would not eat in restaurant there due to room hygiene. Internet rarely worked well, very loud and swearing/rowdy young people on their balconies yelling at people walking by, hot tub was basically cold and poor jets. Cleaning staff knocked on door early in the morning when the sign was on the door for "quiet please". Beds are very soft but room really hadn't been deep cleaned in probably years.

    5
« Centrally Located, Beach Perfection »

We stayed in a 2 queen kitchenette beach front in room 302. The room was spacious and offered a terrific view of the gulf. We did not utilize either pool because the outside weather was ideal to stay on the beach during our 3 day stay for Spring Break. Heather was super helpful and let us check in at 12:30, which allowed the fun to begin upon arrival. The beach area outside the hotel offers chair rentals and it was the only section that wasn't overcrowded as far as the eye could see. Our room was 2 doors from the elevator and we never had to wait. We walked everywhere we went because it is in the middle of everything. I would definitely stay at this Best Western again. Highly recommend this hotel, especially for a nice place to stay for just a quick trip to the beach.

    4
    « Nice beachfront place »

We have stayed here many times, and you can't beat the Gulf Coast View. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, so if it is raining there is still something to do. It is well kept and the rooms are clean. The staff is extremely helpful. Michelle and Stephanie checked us in and helped us with a number of questions that we had about the local area. The beds are doubles, but are comfortable as are the 5 star pillows. There are kitchen and kitchenette rooms available, and when you figure in cleaning fees for a condo, the price for this is much better. It also has the indoor pool, so it makes it a much better place to stay than many others during the off-season.

    5
    « spring break »

as the other 2 times we been there we have enjoyed the staff treats u as best friends and Stephanie wow impressed she remembered us as if we were there yesterday. It was very clean, the rooms, the halls, the office the swimming pool area. The only complained I have it this last time going 3-14-16 the prices doubled than the other 2 stays we had. so next vist I we will be more prepared to have checked other places, but overall top 10 for us

    « We had a wonderful stay! »

My family and I stayed at the Best Western on the Beach in Gulf Shores, AL as we were in town visiting family. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. The rooms were clean and fresh and the staff amazing and helpful. We all slept great and can't wait to stay there again on our next trip to the beach.

    « Outstanding Staff »

My family enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly (Southern Charm)! Nice beach access as well. This was our second stay and I'm sure it will not be are last. Nice central location as well next to dining and activities.

    « Excellent Experience »

It really is a great hotel. Me and 4 other guys stayed in a room with two beds and a kitchenette. We thought the quality of the room was great and had no problem with space. I was really impressed with how patient the staff were even with all the spring break chaos these past weeks. Being a room with 5 guys the room got somewhat messy at times but the cleaning staff were always understanding and somehow managed to make the room spotless again. All the staff was extremely nice, the lady at the front desk even stopped some guy from stealing from my car. location was perfect, we could walk anywhere we wanted to go within 15 minutes. Would definitely stay again.

    « Spring Break Destination »

Overall an acceptable place for college students on spring break, but certainly not worth $400 a night, which is what we paid. I would not recommend this as a "nice get away." Service wasn't terrible, and rooms were nice, but not worth what we paid. It has a great central location on the beach, everything is close and a nice walking distance.

    « Great overall trip. »

Some friends and I stayed at the Best Western on the Beach during spring break, and it was all we could ask for and more. The location was one of the best parts about this hotel, with it being right by the beach, walking distance to the Hangout and a lot of restaurants, and close to a bunch of other college kids. Friendly staff and the rooms were cleaned well. Only down side is the indoor pool and hot tub close too early (10:00). Would definitely recommend!

« BEST HOTEL ON THE BEACH!! »

We stayed at this hotel during Spring Break week. Every part of the hotel, rooms, beach area and pool area was very well kept. The owners take pride in their hotel and their beach and it shows! We loved it!!!!! Heather at the front desk was awesome!

very nice staff members. The outside appearance was below average but the inside was pretty good and the beds were comfy. The lobby smelled like smoke but overall good experience. The location was perfect, right on the beach!

« Great place and lots to do! »

Great ocean view with clean beach. We're here during spring break and they're keeping it under control. Michelle at the front desk is stellar with lots of "to-do" suggestions which were spot on. Our house keeper is wonderful as well!!! Great for families with kids of any age (maybe not during spring break though)

    3
    « BEACH TIME »

If you want strictly beach time, this was okay. Just look past the smells of things not cleaned up going down the hall. The Mattresses were awesome. It was like sinking down into a giant pillow. Only wish I had gotten a beach side room which I thought I was getting according to first look on the web site. I could have upgraded but this trip I was on a budget.

« Best Western in Gulf Shores, AL »

This is by far one of the BEST hotels I have ever visited. The staff was beyond helpful and gave the best customer service I have ever received. I would recommend anyone and everyone to visit this amazing hotel! The staff was what stood out the most. They all were friendly and made me feel right at home. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    « Amazing, clean, well-run hotel!! »

I stayed here for two weeks. Mr. Thompson and Michelle were so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond what's expected to make my stay possible! This hotel is kept clean and fresh. Even the stairwells are enameled white and kept spotlessly clean! The hallways are fresh and clean also. The housekeeping staff does a wonderful job and make every day feel fresh and new. This is also a very solid, quiet hotel. You'll sleep like a baby! I thoroughly enjoyed my second story balcony facing the ocean. I can't wait to go back!!!

« Very nice place to stay. Michelle, who works at the front desk, is the best! She's friendly and was very helpful. »

Nice location with many great seafood restaurants nearby. The room was nice and had a great view of the beach. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and provided great advise on where to eat and things to see. Also, there some nice golf courses in the area that I won't mind playing again.

« Lovely beach, disappointing room. »

We splurged to stay here during Spring Break, choosing it primarily due to the location (directly on the beach). The rooms are well-worn and small, though everything seemed clean. There was a great deal of yelling and "partying" during our stay, obviously due to the fact that it was Spring Break week. It was unsavory to find cigarette butts everywhere from the smoking college kids sitting around everywhere. It was difficult to get towels that we requested and I was told that I would have to come to the front desk to get them myself. When I did so, the attendant looked at me and said that I "sounded young" on the phone, which is why she questioned me about how many were in my party and insisted that I come pick up the towels myself. She explained that the college kids were hoarding the towels and leaving them with few. There was no gym, no laundry facility, and no complimentary breakfast. The pancake house cost our family over $70 (5 people) for a standard breakfast. It was delicious and the view was nice, so that's a positive. I wouldn't choose this hotel again for the price.

    5
« Michelle is the best!!! »

I stayed for several days! Had the most amazing time. Michelle the lady at the front desk was the best. Everyday I asked her about good restaurants. Each time she never disappointed me. Each time you walk in the door she always had a smile on her face. The hotel was very clean and I enjoyed staying there. Will come stay again!

    5
    « Excellent! »

Our stay at Best Western on the Beach was amazing! Michelle was so very helpful! We spoke several times on the phone prior to arrival and everything went smooth at check-in and check-out! I would definitely stay here again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

« Not worth the high price »

This is NOT what I expected when we decided to splurge for the $150 per night room or when we booked at a Best Western hotel. Took at least five minutes of me searching and calling out for someone before an employee actually showed up to check me in. All the while, the phone was ringing off the hook. The clerk answered the phone and helped that customer before assisting me. Once she was there, the check in was quick and easy. Once at our non-smoking room, we opened the door and were overwhelmed with the smell of cigarettes. It smelled like an ashtray. It was so strong that it left our stuff smelling like cigarette smoke. The pictures on the walls were almost completely turned sideways they were so crooked. Our youngest child (2 year old) started crying EVERY time we walked into the room. She would beg to leave the room and start crying. She kept insisting that the room was "scary" and "it was going to get her". Sounds odd, I know. She has never acted like that before and we have stayed at multiple hotels since her birth. The beds were not bad, actually pretty comfortable. Room was relatively clean but just seemed dingy. The locks on the door leading to the balcony were low and easy to turn. Not good for little fingers or families with little ones. The cable stopped working about 2 hours after checking in and it never started working again. My husband made it through about 10-12 minutes of a shower before the water turned COLD. Tried to wait to shower, hoping that it would warm up again but that did NOT happen so we all took luke warm to cold showers. Bathroom was VERY small with NO counter space. There were lots of loud, cussing, half-naked, hateful teens-20 somethings everywhere. They were throwing trash down in the halls, in the elevator and ALL OVER THE BEACH. We took our kids hunting for shells and had to dig around beer cans, cigarette butts and cigars that were thrown on the ground. They were very loud the entire time; yelling, running, banging the walls, etc. There were large groups of people partying on the beach and in the sitting/Parking areas with loud music. They were funneling beer, dancing, practically fornicating. We did not appreciate this with our small children/pre-teens. It felt more like a frat party. The indoor pool was located in a separate building than the hotel and not secured for guests only. It was in a very dim room with no towels available for drying off after. There was very limited parking that fills fast and doesn't feel very safe. Over-all, it was a waste of money and we won't be back.

« Best Western Gulf Shores is a Hidden Gem! »

We stayed at this oceanfront hotel in Gulf Shores, AL recently and stayed in an oceanfront room. The balcony was spacious and we were able to see each sunset over the water. The room is equipped with a very comfortable bed, kitchenette with cooktop and microwave and refrigerator. Overall this is a great choice. The location is within walking distance to many restaurants like the Hangout, The Pink Pony, or several others. You can walk down the beach or along the street sidewalks. If you have never been to Gulf Shores, you must walk on the beautiful white soft sand to the clear blue water. IT's wonderful!

« Awesome place on the beach! »

This hotel is one of our favorites to stay in. It has a super staff, kitchenettes in the rooms, and an indoor pool with 2 spas. I'm not a big fan of hotels without continental breakfast, but with the kitchenette, we just make our own breakfast. The Pancake House is great, but it has very slow service so we never eat there. The pool is my favorite amenity but it is not open year round. For the price, you can't beat it anywhere on the beach!

    5
    « Great Visit »

We enjoyed our stay! Being able to swim in March in the indoor pool was awesome! The view of the sunrise from the balcony was spectacular. Everyone was so nice to us. Michelle that checked us in, the ladies that were cleaning the rooms, and Heather checked us out. The room was clean and nice! We ate at the on-site restaurant, food and service there was really good also!

« Loved being on the beach. Take the elevator down and you are there. »

nice quiet room. All rooms come with kitchenette which would be nice if you don't want to eat out. But it makes for a small bathroom.. Love the pillows. wifi was free and actually worked. We even bought some pillows and brought home.. my future daughter in law wasn't pleased by the coarseness of the towels but I didn't have a problem with them

This hotel seem to be very until you get in there they need some update done and new things in rooms to source it up I have been in alot of best Westerns and they just kinda fell off the cliff but the staff was very nice and helpful

    « No pool »

We arrived on New Years Day and it was not a good start for our year. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The pool was closed for maintenence but we were not told at check-in so four of us are standing outside in our swimsuits and winter coats trying to get into the pool only to find no water and the door locked. When I went back to the front desk to find out what is going on and find out it has been closed for weeks but they didn't bother to let us know. The lady up at the front desk told me if we find another hotel we would get our money back but she refused to refund it when we went to check out. I called Best Western but they couldn't or wouldn't do anything for us because each one is independently owned and operated. I contacted BBB and they received no follow up from the hotel. I did not get anywhere with the general manager either. Now I will try and recoup my losses with my credit card company. I would not stay here if it was free.

Thanks to them and everyone here for making our stay a very enjoyable experience. We appreciate the management and their Christian testimony.

First thing to ask about is the discount for Military, AARP, & 55+. The views & the Incredibly short walk to the water is THE BEST ever!! The rooms were just right with the most wonderful beds. Sleep came so quickly & the best I'd had in a long time. The rooms are wonderful. The beach front rooms are a little more expensive but Well Worth It. Private balcony, kitchenette w/pots pans dishes, 2 queen size beds in my room. Fresh paint & remodeled bathrooms. Here is sunrise, midday & sunset from my room. There is the Island Pancake House in the hotel. The food is Amazing! If you are 55+, you get great discounts.

The Great Western offered terrific value. It is right on the beach and we had a balcony overlooking the ocean. The staff is friendly, the rooms have been recently updated, and housekeeping did a great job. For a beach hotel, it is hard to beat.

We took our 6 year old grand daughter on a short vacation. The location to the beach was great. Just a short walk. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. « Nice Place with friendly staff »

We spent four nights and enjoyed the stay very much. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel and rooms appeared to have been recently renovated and everything was clean and nice. We have stayed in this hotel previously and always enjoyed it.

    « Location is everything! »

This hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. Michelle at front desk went above and beyond. Can not beat the location on the beach. If you are looking for upscale amenities, you will be disappointed. No pool towels, no room service, no food after 1:00 pm, no bar. Before leaving WI I asked if the outdoor pool and hot tub were heated and was told yes- One if the reasons I booked there. In fact, neither were and we could not use them the entire stay. However, great beds, linens, and views! Nice quite place with nice staff.

    5
    « Very Nice! »

We've stayed at this hotel numerous times and it never disappoints! We just spent the weekend again two weeks ago, and as always, we have nothing but good things to say about it! The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and attractive! The staff members are as professional, helpful, and courteous as you could hope to find anywhere! The view of the beach is gorgeous, and the restaurant is yummy! All of this for an exceptional price! If you're looking for an enjoyable and pleasant place to stay, with a great view and an economical price, this is your place!

« More than we imagined! »

Upon arrival Michelle the attendant at the front desk was more than accommodating she told us of the amenities available at which point we said we forgot our bathing suits she pulled out bathing suits for our sons from lost and found that still have the tags on them and insisted that the boys keep them she went above and beyond our entire stay our hotel room on the 5th floor with two queen beds and a mini fridge and microwave was more than enough for our four person family we feel comfortable the beds are amazing like sleeping on clouds and the view is to die for we intended on staying one night needless to say we gladly paid for another night in this little slice of heaven on Gulf Shores

« Great View Hotel Ok »

The hotel was average..room has no frills and needs a little updating but was clean. The view of the beach was amazing and staff was more than obliging. The restaurant in the hotel IS AMAZING, food excellent and view GORGEOUS. This was our 2nd stay here and won't be our last.

    « Great Beach Hotel »

I have been coming to Gulf Shores all my life and the Best Western has been here for most of it. It has true old school LA beach character. Been through many hurricanes and ready for more. The front desk is absolutey charming. Thank you Michelle! The King Suite is fabulous! But don't expect many dishes in the kitchenette , the dual AC units make up for it as well as the seperate, dark, "sleep" room. Twin Kings! Are you serious? Absolutely try the Smoked Aligator Sausage Breakfast! And one block from The Sea an Suds!!! Its got some cracks but don't we all!

    « Fun night! »

We spent Lundi Gras night at the Best Western On the Beach in Gulf Shores, Al. My wife and I brought our two-year old granddaughter to enjoy the Mardi Gras parades in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The parades were fun, so was our stay at Best Western! For a reasonable price we received a clean, comfortable room, with a direct beach view, on the fourth floor - even though it was cold, we slept with the balcony door cracked open so we could hear the waves. The staff was friendly and polite. The beds were comfortable. Everything worked. We will certainly stay here again!

    4
« If It Were Anywhere Else... »

I'm giving this hotel four stars, but if it were anywhere else, it would probably get three, maybe even two. It is VERY old, with pipes running down the hallways. Walls and carpet are stained in the hallways. I imagine it's hard to keep it looking nice with all the sand! The indoor pool is located in a separate building, and it is nasty! Our girls played in the pool while my husband and I sat in the hot tub. It was okay, until he turned on the jets. That stirred up all kinds of nasty stuff floating around in the water. We didn't use the hot tub or indoor pool again. Now for the good stuff: This hotel is right on the beach, and, for the price, you can't beat it! The view is amazing, and we had a room on the ocean side with a small balcony. Our room also had a kitchenette, which was perfect. The bathroom was a little small, but manageable. The room itself was nice and clean. The outdoor pool is awesome! They have a waterfall fountain, but it wasn't working at the time. Still, it was really nice to have the pool right on the beach. Our kids loved that and so did we! The staff was very nice and helpful, and the main lobby area was nice. The lady at the front desk was super friendly, and we enjoyed talking with her. We would probably stay here again, and I think you would enjoy your stay on the beach!

« does not accept pets »

Did not stay here because they will not allow pets. Went to Trip Advisor and looked only for pet friendly hotels. Went somewhere else to stay. Need to change that setting, so other people don't stop there with pets. Staff was helpful in helping us find a pet friendly hotel.

    « Weekend Gateway »

Met our brother and sister in law for a quick weekend together. The folks at the hotel were wonderful, the room was good, except the doors were very hard to shut, and simple. I gave a 3 star cause I think the hotel is average. I know that ocean view would mean the cost is more but $170 in off season seemed an awful lot for what we got. Would visit Gulf Shores again but would find a different hotel.

    4

I was scared the room next to us would hear the horrible noise when we turned the light on in the bathroom. It was a loud grinding noise. Room was not clean 2 days in a row. We loved the room and the personnel at this hotel! From the time we walked in the front door, all of the hotel employees were warm and friendly, giving us a welcoming feeling. Clean hotel with amazing ocean front rooms. We enjoyed the beach and our balcony. Plus front desk Michelle was so helpful and bubbly. Probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've had. Loved the relaxed and helpful feel of the hotel. Easy to get to. It really does sit right on the beach. There aren't many public hotels RIGHT on the beach.

« Dirty and Not Worth it! »

Dirty room. No hot water. Unfriendly and unknowledgeable staff. We went sight and unseen and regret that choice. Would not stay there again. The hotel was unkempt and dirty. Bathroom floors were gross. The cleaning staff left napkins on the floor, which indicates they didn't vacuum very well, if at all. We'd pay more to get a beach front room at a cleaner place. Save your money and go somewhere else.

« best hotel in gulf shores alabama »

the Best Western in Gulf shores is the best hotel on the beach, they have rooms over looking the beach for the romantic couples, and rooms facing away from the beach for those who need less noise. This hotel has a great restaurant inside it. Stephanie Keith gave us excellent customer service, greeted us with a warm smile, and she was a great professional at the front desk. She had a great amount of knowledge of the lay out of the hotel, and restaurants in the area. Had an all around excellent time at the best western.

    « Great Nights Sleep »

The hotel is located right on the beach with great views. This was a very clean hotel. We stayed two different times and had the most comfortable beds and pillows ever!! The rooms were spotlessly clean. The staff, Michelle and Heather were most friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

    « ANOTHER GREAT STAY »

This has been our 5th year in a row that we have stayed at this motel for our annual Gulf Coast trip and as usual great room, clean, very comfortable and great beds. They have went up on price for that time of year since we started but as all good things that price must come to an end. We will be back hopefully in 2016

« Amazing View?.Amazing Service?.Just what what we were looking for! »

I will be back! You can not beat the view, staff and rooms. Hands down the best hotel bed I have ever slept in. Large rooms with beach front views. Close to everything! Not only does the staff make you feel like family but willing to help you with any needs.

I highly recommend this place to everyone. Service and staff were excellent! Don't forget to try the Island Pancake House!! Everything is made fresh NOT frozen like other places. Thanks to the hotel our family vacation went smoothly and wasn't a hassle to enjoy the beach.

Wanted a little after Thanksgiving beach get-away. Best Western on the Beach turned out to be a wonderful choice! From check-in to check-out, it was one of the most relaxing experiences I have had. The desk staff were professional and friendly. The cleaning staff were gracious and accommodating. The rooms were clean, fresh, and complemented the view very nicely! Beautiful rooms with a beautiful view - could not ask for more and can't wait to go back!!!

Had the best time staying at the Best Western on the beach. Our family get away couldn't have been any better. Our room was bigger then expected and beyond clean!!! The view off our balcony was breath taking. Nothing but a beach view. We were within walking to everything. And the ladies at the front desk went above and beyond to help point us I the right direction. Defiantly will be going back!!!!

    « AWESOME AND PEACEFUL!!! »

Yes, the hotel may be a little outdated. But, they're doing so much to update it. The rooms are clean and beautiful views of the gulf. It's so convenient to restaurants, and shops. The staff was awesome, and very helpful!! Michelle and Heather were so helpful in checking in, and checking out. Michelle is so personable, and such a great lady to work with in making reservations, and there to help you with anything- she makes you feel like family. Heather was so helpful when checking in, and any questions you had. If you have children- check out "The Hangout", the kids will love it! And it's only a walk away. Love it, the beautiful views of sunrises, and sunsets...

    « Roaches everywhere!! »

Me and my husband decided to take a trip to the beach for our 3rd anniversary. We noticed that best Western on the beach was a top rated hotel. So that is what we picked. Little did we know it would be one of the nastiest hotels we have ever stayed in!!! The elevator smelt like something was dead. The breaks made a really loud noise then smelt burnt. Now to the hotel room we stayed on the 3rd floor and there were roaches EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!! on the bed in the refrigerator in the cabinets all in the bathroom. I am going to add a few pictures for reference! I would not recommend staying here. When we told the lady at the desk she just gave us a blank expression and said she would have the manager call us.. a week later and still haven't heard from them.130.00 after tax for a room full of roaches I couldn't even sleep... The only good thing they have going for them is the view.......

    « Wonderful »

We stayed at the Best Western just for a short trip over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised! It is an old but renovated building directly located on the beach. We had a room in the east wing, and the balcony was right on the beach, as close as it could get. The view is breathtaking. The rooms were clean and had a little kitchenette. Unfortunately, the kitchenette was not well equipped. There were just two plates, three spoons, no real glasses, hardly any pots or pans, no bottle opener or scissors, no cups etc. The bathroom was small but efficient. The beds were wonderful. The staff was very nice and helpful. They told us about the Oyster Festival the next day and we went there and had fun. I will definitely come back.

    « Old beach hotel »

Best Western Gulf Shores is an old, remodeled hotel. It has been remodeled but the footprint of our bathroom was just big enough for one person. The only way I could get a King bed was to take a King with a Jacuzzi. It was barely big enough for one. I specifically asked for a NON SMOKING ROOM and she told me they had two buildings. The sixth floor of one building was still smoking so I said NO. The East building is Non Smoking so I chose it. When we arrived I found out that the garage below was the designated SMOKING ZONE. Go figure. First night in and we had a cigar smoker right below us. This continued all week and I said something to ?Heather? and she said she can't do anything because that's designated smoking. The bed was great. We had a large trash bag full of stale beer bottles and trash that stayed just outside of our room for 24 hours. I said something on Tuesday noon and I was told someone was supposed to pick it up the day before. It was removed by the time we left an hour later but a new one was waiting. It was picked up 2 hours later. Of course our room was right across from the Coke and Ice machines. NOISY? The toilet rocked like it needed to be reseated on the Wax Ring. Will never do this again

« Great Stay at the Beach »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. The room was great. The personnel were very helpful. We asked for a good place to look for shells that weren't broken and was given a good suggestion. Also when asking for supper recommendations the staff was very helpful. The breakfast restaurant was an excellent value with great food. Thank you.

    « Pleasant Night »

Everything was as expected. It's hard to find a place with a beachfront view for just one night but this was exactly what we were looking. for. The staff was helpful. The room had an unusual smell but it's probably from being an older building. It was very clean and I am nitpicky about this. Overall I would recommend this hitel.

This was a great place to stay we were on the beach and close to most everything else we wanted to do. We could walk to eat and not have to repark the car. It was very clean but not upscale. They did not have complementary breakfast, did have a restaurant that servers breakfast and lunch. The staff was friendly and ready to serve.

Every now and then my wife and I like to get away for a night or two. We stay at the Best Western on the Beach. We know during our stay there the staff are friendly and our room is clean. This trip we had a beach- side room. My wife loves to leave balcony door open to hear the waves in the evening. It is a very relaxing sound. I like to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view as well.

Our first time in Alabama was lovely . My family was in Orange Beach for a graduation, and our stay at the Best Western on the beach was fabulous. The front desk clerk Michelle was awesome !! She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was no less than perfect. We definitely will be back again and again because of Ms. Michelle.

« How lucky we were to find a super place »

Wow my husband and I were so happy with everything the room was very large and was furnished great. We had an ocean view room so we sat on our deck and could watch the beach and ocean. The hotel supplies the beach with really comfortable chaise lounges and umbrellas which is nice . The staff is super nice. Michelle at the front desk was so helpful. We had never been to Gulf Shores, AL. We are from Calif. She helped us so much with the information about the area and things we wanted to see and do. This hotel is a great place to stay at a very reasonable price.

    « Stay on weekend of oct.16, 2015 »

Check in was great - fast -- hotel room clean, beds were comfortable - room is on small size. The restaurant is open only for breakfast and lunch. It was nice having the kitchenette. Great being right on the beach! The pool was a nice treat since it was too chilly to be in the water. Parking was a little tight but wasn't a problem for us the whole weekend. The reception area does not have free beverage area and they don't have a small place for selling items - you have to go to the nearby stores if you forgot anything.

    5
« We absolutely loved this hotel! »

Michelle at the front desk was so nice! She didn't just throw us a room key and send us on our way. She has true southern charm! We will be back for another visit soon! Our room was very clean. We got a room with a king sized bed and an ocean view and private balcony. Restaurants and shopping just a stones throw away!

« Best deal in town. Wow! »

I booked a room for my wife and I for a weekend gettaway, mainly because it was inexpensive and had a beachfront view. We stayed here several years ago. I was expecting it to be decent but nothing fancy. We were amazed at how nice everything was. Everything drom the lobby, to the pool, to the room looked freshly remodeled and super nice. Of course you can't beat having the pancake house downstairs which I believe is the best place to get breakfast on town. You can tell that the owner has gone to great lengths to make an older facility modern and clean. We will definitely stay here again.

    « Loved the view & beach. »

« Better Customer Service Skills »

Don't use trip Advisor when booking anything at this hotel. The hotel would not honor the confirmation number provided by the travel site stating it was a bogus confirmation number, then they would not honor the reservation, called the hotel directly, reservation still incorrect, then upon check in had to pay a higher rate than quoted. Front desk staff not friendly and kept saying "NO".

    « Lazy Weekend »

We headed down to Gulf Shores for a lazy weekend in October. The weather was gorgeous and the beach was beautiful. Best Western on the Beach is an older hotel. We were in the older section - the carpet is worn, the furniture dated. Our room was funky but the bed was really comfortable. We had a big fridge, microwave, sink, and a kitchen table. We booked through Hotels.com so we weren't able to get an ocean view. I'll go back, but next time will book through the hotel so I can stay in a room looking over the ocean. The room was clean. The maids and hotel front desk staff were excellent. You can't beat the access to the beach. Head down the elevator, step out, and there you are!!! Convenient location! We walked to numerous restaurants and bars in the area. We'll be back - especially in October!

    3
    « Fall Break »

This is an average hotel with an above average location! The beach is amazing...get an upper level room with a view. The indoor and outdoor pools are both nice. Beware when booking...this hotel still has smoking rooms. I wasn't paying attention and requested a smoking room when booking online. We were stuck with that room for our first night, but changed rooms for our remaining 2 nights. Both rooms had maintenance issues. The restaurant was delicious and the service was good...but it was expensive. We were far more impressed with the Holiday Inn Resort on Pensacola Beach...which is where we stayed the balance of our trip.

    « Beyond Disappointed »

I made this reservation so I could bring my kids to the area where my husband had been working about an hour from where we live. On the way to the hotel, we received a phone call informing us that his grandfather had passed away. It was a total shock and needless to say, we needed to turn around and headed back home. After composing myself and trying to make a plan for the coming days ahead, I realized I had to call the hotel. I never imagined that all I would get was a cold "Sorry" and reference to the 48 hr cancellation policy. I was completely blindsided! Do we really care so little about each other anymore that a death doesn't trump a cancellation policy? Of course I understand if I was just cancelling for no reason, but I feel this was a pretty important reason! I asked for the manager, and the unfeeling desk girl said he would only tell me the same thing. I told her I wanted to talk to him anyway to at least vent my frustration, and she said I would have to call back. I called back several times and he was never "available." If they are going to be so rigid with their policy, then the manager should at least be man enough to take the heat when a person is going to be charged $230 for a room that they can't stay in because of a death in their immediate family and take the phone call. I will try my best to warn everyone I know about this place and to take their business elsewhere. I know I will

    « One night stay »

Stayed in room on first floor that was right outside the employee smoking area. View of gulf was not great. Could see more of the pool and sand dunes. Noise of door opening and slamming shut kept us awake during night and in morning. Very over priced for what we got.

    2
    « Cannot recommend »

This hotel was a bit of a disappointment the room we stayed in was overpriced, noises and cramped. The entrance door had a large gap at the top and bottom the bathroom had cracks where the Sheetrock met the tile. Overall it looked like it was poorly renovated. For the money you can do much better

    3
« Nice beach and sand »

Traditional beachfront hotel. Lots of families and children. Balconies a plus. The staff were pleasant. Nice beach, soft white sand, doesn't burn the feet. The water was calm, and very shallow for quite a ways out, not really good for actual swimming, though probably good for children. Also, when I was visiting I noticed that the Gulf Shores water didn't have that brilliant emerald blue-green color that the Pensacola beaches -- 40 miles up the coast -- had. The outdoor pool (water a little cloudy) was heated but not very warm. The indoor pool was heated and it was warm. My fifth floor room was clean and comfortable, but over the 4 days I stayed it often took a few minutes to get the hot water going. I didn't eat at the onsite Island Pancake House but it sure looked popular, people lined up to get in. For Thai food lovers: you won't have much luck finding it in Gulf Shores! Pensacola International Airport (PNS) is about 40 miles away.

The rooms are clean, the hotel is quiet, the beds are comfortable, the AC works, and you are right. on. the. beach. Yeah, the greeh halls are a bit funky, but the rooms are as updated as the architecture will allow and the price is good for the location. We will stay again. P. I called to get information about booking 40 rooms for a conference there in 2016. The lady at the front desk (10/20/2015 @11 am) was EXTREMELY RUDE and would not answer any of my questions. She would not tell me any rates, and would not tell me even if they have conference rooms at their facility and raised her voice at me. Everything happens for a reason, I would not want to work with this company.

We had the pleasure of visiting the best Western on the Beach in Gulf Shores, AL a few days ago, and it was a great experience! Every employee we encountered was more than accommodating, friendly, and helpful! Even the owners went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel special! I loved the amazing view! The hotel is directly on the beach, so it was very nice to hear the waves and smell the saltwater! While there, we enjoyed a delicious brunch in the hotel's Island Pancake House! Both the Quality and the Quantity of the food was above-board! The restaurant staff and employees were extremely helpful and friendly! And the prices couldn't be beat! Our entire visit was very positive and enjoyable! We look forward to visiting again soon!

« Overpriced for the room that we had! »

We were greeted pleasantly at the front desk by clerk, Michelle, who was very helpful. She also recommended a restaurant, which we did enjoy. We had reserved a streetside room. This is an older hotel and in need of updating. Our room was large enough and the beds were very comfortable. The TV was great. However, the bathroom was not clean and the room decor was kind of shabby. There were actually two large holes in the upholstery of one of the chairs. Though on the street side, it was quiet. Employees should be trained on what to do with rewards club members when they have a gift card. Michelle who checked us in stated we should use it when we checked out and the person who checked us out said we should have used it when we checked in. We were disappointed there was not a complementary breakfast, as there are in most other Best Westerns. We did not try the pancake house, but enjoyed walking on the beach.

« SICK I WASTED TIME AT THIS HOTEL!! Worst hotel I have ever stayed at!!! »

I had to make a quick trip for business to Gulf Shores and decided to stay on the beach. I found this hotel on trip advisor, and had my work travel agent book it for me. I drove from Atlanta, so I arrived at the hotel to check in very late. At check in the gentleman was very friendly and I was quite impressed on his hospitality. They had already checked in into Room 99, and I proceeded to my room. When I arrived to the room, I was in TOTAL SHOCK but went to bed because it was late. The next morning before work I was so upset on my room, that I created a list of items. 1) Dead Flies in the window seal 2) No Iron 3) 1/4 a roll of toilet paper with no extra roll anywhere to be found. 4) Bathroom lights are as bright as a flood light in the bathroom. I could not even put on my eye makeup in there because my eyes could not adjust. There were 4 bulbs that had to be 200 watts. 5) You better be awake by 7 because if not, the maid carts, banging of doors will wake you up. 6) Maid makes up room and inadvertently throws my glasses from night stand to floor (which I almost stepped on) 7) Carpet is FILTHY. Never has been vacuumed so I chose not to walk around bare footed because I had never been to the beach yet, but I had TONS of sand in the bed from me walking on the floor. 8) There was not even a "Please do not disturb sign", so like I said before your personal alarm clock is 7 before the maids bang on the door once, and walk right in. 9) There was a vanity with a sink that was sitting in the living room (not hooked up) . VERY odd. I understand they are the top hotel in the area, or whatever but I have NO idea how they received this unless I was just placed in the janitors closet and everyone else's room was completely different.

We stopped here on a whim as our vacation was over. We had already left our hotel and went to eat, and we said let's just stay one more night. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the price was right. There is a pancake house in the hotel that is pretty good.

« Not What We Were Expecting, Different From Website!!! »

Before we ever come to the hotel it had a number one rating with tripadvisior, plus an employee promised us a third floor room of the hotel in the East wing. When we arrived at this hotel it was already 12:30am due to traffic accidents and were hoping for an easy check in. However, this was not the case. We were promised a room on the third floor and a roll-a-way bed for our 5th family member. The employee manning the front desk was not helpful and told us that he did not know if we even had the roll-a-way bed or not and suggested that we make due for the night. He then suggested to go to Wal-Mart to purchase a air mattress, then take it back to the store after we used it or sleep on the floor; we thought this was incredibly rude and dishonest an employee would even suggest for a guest to do that and that we refused to do that. We also had an issue with the bill saying we would only be charged for 2 nights instead of 3 nights. So he gave us our room keys and we took our luggage to the third floor like he said to and found out the room was instead on the second floor and we went back to the front desk to complain that we were not located on the correct floor and he said it was his mistake. When we went to the new room it was not what the pictures showed; it was not clean, there was ceiling leakage and mold was showing through, the bathroom exhaust fan was too small and caused for mold on the ceiling, the ice machine looked to never have been cleaned with mold in it, and worst of all there was ROACHES in the room! When we called to complain they did not fix the issue and gave us the run around. The manager never got back to us until 2 days after we returned home and he suggested we were lying about the conditions of the room and what his own employees said. And we were still charged for 3 days despite what the other man said and the manager said he would maybe adjust the bill for all the problems we faced...$50.00 off the told bill after we had one of the worse stays ever in a hotel. I do not see how this hotel was rated number #1. If we could have redone our stay we would NOT have chosen this hotel and will NEVER return here as a guest.

    « great Location! »

My daughter and i flew down for the weekend just to get away. I was surprised to find the national shrimp festival was going on. I found this place on the internet. It turned out to be pretty good. The rooms are clean and it is in a great location! Right on the beach! It also seems that the majority of rooms have a balcony. Can walk to the Shrimp festival. Only downside is parking is a bit limited (but may be due to the festival) Would recommend and i would stay again, except next time i would get the ocean view.

This hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. I LOVED the Christian music that was played the entire time there. This will be my place to stay while visiting Gul Shores!!

« Great view from our oceanfront room. »

We had a Great view from our King oceanfront room. We very pleasantly surprised with our room and balcony. The cleanliness of the room could not have been better. Not one grain of sand, not even on the balcony. The helpfulness of the staff and crew could not have been better. The bed was very comfortable. We had plenty of hot water and and space in the well stocked bathroom. Maybe only a couple of items that needed attention. No weather stripping around the entrance door allowing light in at night. Also, the pool lights stay on all night allowing light to come in on the balcony side. We stayed in a No Smoking room, which was GREAT, however the smokers seemed to congregate at the only access to the beach from the Hotel forcing all guests to walk through the smoke to reach the beach. One other thing, it was pouring rain when we arrived and there was a black BMW parked under the covered area that was meant to be used by guests to check in/ check out and stay dry. We came to find out this BMW was owned by an employee. We thought this was very thoughtless on this employee's part. We would stay at this nice Hotel again.

    « Love it!! »

Found on Internet wasn't disappointed! Room on the oceanfront, beautiful white sand, clean room and wonderful friendly staff. Especially Michele so friendly and helpful. So nice not having to be in an automated busy condo. Recommend to everyone and will be back.

The service was phenomenal to say the least, we had an ocean front room that was immaculate in it's presentation, the ocean view was more than my expectations as I selected a ocean front room. My spouse and I were both very pleased with the service at the front desk, Michelle one of the desk clerks gave us great info about dining and shopping. This was one of the Best stays I have had recently if not ever in a hotel the accommodation met all of our needs and expectations. Lola T.

Clean rooms, great front desk staff, great beachfront location. The staff in the restaurant were surly and our breakfast came to the table cold. My butter wouldn't even melt on my waffles. Our room had no weather stripping in the door, so we had a constant wind whistling. It was especially bad if we had the balcony door open.

« Step out your back door onto the beach! »

My sister and I went for a last minute girls trip. I always stay at B.W. because they are always nice and friendly hotels. This is no exception. You can walk out the back of the hotel and you are on a beautiful beach. Stephanie at the front desk (and another woman who I failed to ask her name) were so friendly and helpful. The ocean view room we had was pretty standard, not a lot pf frills. No points on the toilet paper here! But the beds were very comfortable, towels and linens were good, the power of the shower was strong and plenty of hot water. You have to remember it's a beach hotel and things don't stay nice long with all the wear and tear they get (carpet). The hotel grounds are really pretty and are kept spotless. There was a guy cleaning every time I went outside. I will definitely stay here again!

My wife and I like to get away from the stress of everyday living. We chose best western on the beach for its locality. We continue to return for the quality of service we receive while there. Their beach side rooms are great.

    « beautiful ocean views »

The exterior looks very rundown. The rooms are spotless & cottagey looking. We had an oceanfront view with kitchenette. The bed was unbelievely comfortable. The breakfast at Pancake House was terribly. After eating, grease was puddled in the bottom of my plate. Location was perfect, close to everything. Chairs and umbrellas were $30.00/day. Free parking under the hotel. The front desk couldn't tell me where Gulf Shores Parkway was??? Housekeeping was very nice.
