« Hotel rooms fine - outstanding free breakfast »

We checked into this hotel around 7 in the evening, and were more than satisfied with our rooms (we were a party of 3 in 2 rooms). They were adequate and clean, and very reasonably priced. The surprise came the next morning when we went down to the free breakfast. It was absolutely the greatest free breakfast setup I have ever seen in all my years of traveling. Two large steamers contained biscuits, link sausage, and scrambled eggs. There was a do-it-yourself wafflemaker with two kinds of batter - regular and pumpkin spiced. We were there in October. The other breakfast items were equally great. I cannot recall ever having been so pleasantly surprised by a free breakfast, and I'm sorry to say that I "pigged out" as they say.

    « Raintree »

This hotel was convenient with a good restaurant next door and a gas station next to that. Everything you need is right there. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was good.

« rooms smelt like mold and dog pee »

After traveling for 10 hours and arriving to the hotel, we find out that we did not have a reservation for the correct date and was told there was nothing they (the check in staff) could do we would have to call the main office of Best Western, but they did give us a room on the 2nd floor (no elevators) all the way at the end of the corridor and my husband is disabled and walks with a cane. When we got up to our room it smelt like mold and dog pee. We were so tired we just wanted a shower and go to bed. The water pressure in the shower was awful. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again.

    « When a queen is not a queen »

We made last minute arrangements to stay there as we didn't know how far we would get. There is a restaurant right next door so very handy for dinner and a glass of wine. The room was small but clean, however the queen bed was not a queen. It was a full bed so we had to ask for extra sheets and a blanket so that my husband could sleep on the sofa. Half way through the night he gave it up and came to the bed.

    « Smelly pet room »

Pet rooms do not all smell the best, but this one won the prize. The interior hallway also smelled strongly of booze. It was like someone dumped out a bottle of cheap whiskey outside the room door. The bathroom smelled of urine. It was overall very unpleasant. The door to the outside also did not close easily, you had to shove and force it to get it to lock. The walls are paper thin, heard our neighbors having sex! The ceiling has spots that look like puffy water damage, and the beds are horrible. Needs a total overhaul.

    « Pretty Good!! »

Displace pleasantly surprised my wife and I on our travels. The room was clean and while it is an older Motel everything was fine. We had a king size bed and the room was perfect for our one-night stay. You can't beat the price, $89.90 including taxes. Maybe the best breakfast we have ever had at a motel. Waffles eggs gravy and biscuits juice yogurt and good coffee. The attendant who takes care of the breakfast did an outstanding job keeping the tables clean and the breakfast bar filled with hot fresh food. Heck I would stay there again just to have the breakfast. No complaints.

« Do not trust this place »

We had reservations from the Best Western 800 number. When we arrived a little after 6 pm, the Front Desk girl told us she could not give us a room at the reservation price and would not even look up the reservation in the computer. Of course, the price she could give us a room at was about $15 higher. When we persisted, a man who claimed he was the owner of this hotel and all but 2 others in that town appeared and basically was telling us the same thing. He also told us we should leave when I argued back with him. That , of course, would have made it look like we we were no -shows. Eventually my persistence paid off, but by that time my husband I were very upset and exhausted. I have called Customer Service several times and have rec'd no apology but did learn in one call that our official reservation was somehow cancelled much later that night.

    « Disappointing! »

This hotel was not up to Best Western standards. It more like one of those independent hotels for $40. The sad part is, I paid almost $100. The bathroom had a urine odor and the tub drain was clogged and ran very slowly. It was really late when we checked in and I didn't want to hassle with a room change and I had a can of Lysol so we stayed and I was going to report it to the staff the next morning. When I did reported the problems, the desk clerk just looked at me like I was crazy and said "oh". The least she could have said was "I'm sorry, I'll have someone check it out"--which is all I expected.

    « Don't Trust This Place »

We made a reservation to stay here for one night in May, 2016 with our two pets in a handicapped accessible room. Gave a credit card to hold it. Arrived and tried to check in. They told us WE had CANCELED the reservation and had no rooms available. Totally untrue. We left in disbelief and hoped another motel in Effingham had a room available that night. We were fortunate and found a room at the Super 8. (Super nice man on the phone. Will stay there when we travel through IL again in the future.) To add to the insult, our credit card was charged for a one night stay with Best (Worst!) Western when we received our statement the next month. Called them to complain and their response was that when we canceled the reservation and rebooked it, we never showed up! Totally untrue AGAIN. We asked when the reservation was canceled, who called in to cancel, but they "didn't know." Such phonies! They made huge mistakes with our reservation and refused to admit what they did to us. They offered to put a credit on our account for the charge they should never have charged in the first place. Big of them! No apology from them and of course no offer of a free or discounted stay in the future to make up for their mistakes. Had they offered, we would not have accepted and will never consider staying there in the future. Their business practices stink.

« Breakfast was my only highlight »

Old property with rooms that open to the outside. We walked into our room and it smelled musty and dirty. There were flies all over, a smashed spider on a wall, and the floors felt damp leading to us wearing shoes the entire time. Bathroom is small but the more updated part of the room. Based on my experience, I would not choose this best western again unless there were updates made. However-breakfast was great! Hot choices, fresh fruit, and a good sitting area. It was the saving grace for me during our stay.

    « Payment Nightmare »

I stayed here with my boyfriend near the end of July. I hate writing bad reviews but I can not let this bad experience go unnoticed. First of all one of the young girls working at the main desk should not be working anywhere in customer service. Someone asks "how are you?" the correct response would be to ask the same thing back to your customer. Having an unfriendly staff member at the main desk sets a horrible first impression. Secondly. someone needs to steam clean the carpets immediately. I know I am not alone on this one because I read some other reviews but my boyfriend and I had black feet everyday from walking around our room. Other than this our room was okay but definitely not worth the price. Last but not least... Upon check in my boyfriend told the girl we would be paying cash when we check out. She said that would not be a problem however they still keep your credit card number in case of damage etc. We stayed at this hotel 4 nights and it ended up coming to $300. We left to head to our next destination. The Monday night my boyfriend checked his bank statement and $406 had been charged to his credit card (Canadian). He contacts the hotel immediately and they assure him there has been an error, that it will be fixed and if there is an issue they will call. That night no one called so we thought it was taken care of. The next day he checked his statement again and another $406 had been charged. At this point he is out $812 with no answers. He calls again and they said they will refund the money. The refunded it however they only refunded what they could according to that days exchange rate and not the rate the day he was charged. He did not receive a full refund with dollar for dollar amount. This is absolutely unacceptable and needs to be recognized.

    « Half Way Travel »

We figured that the best place to stay would half way between Texas and Ohio. This happened to be at the Best Western Raintree Inn in Effingham, IL. We've stayed at the this hotel before and was very happy with this hotel.

    « Passing through »

After the stay in McLean Texas this was wonderful. Large clean bathroom, working ac, huge roomy bed, watched some Olympics on the flat screen tv and checked in with social media. Ate dinner next door. Breakfast was laid out nicely and the coffee was very good. Back on the road by eight.

« The Waffles saved you from a Two »

First off we booked online over a month ago and requested a bottom floor room because of traveling with an elderly person that has trouble climbing stairs. We get there they are booked solid and tell us we are on the second floor with no elevator access. The room seemed dingy and the vanity bathroom area was cramped for my 5'9" athletic build I could only image if someone taller was staying there. There were two doors in the room, one leading to a shared balcony with the adjoining room beside us. The parking area seemed crowed and cramped which made maneuvering our moving van very difficult. The restaurant with the hotel was okay but nothing to write home about (we ate there because of location) The plus side the waffle area! Two kinds of batter and multiple topping options. However if ever in the area again will probably explore other options.

    « Horrbile Stay! »

I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone! We stayed 6 nights having our room cleaned once. I had to chase down a house keeper in order to get clean towels and my garbage changed. My daughter fell off of the bed(not their fault) having to break her arm and need surgery, but no incident report was taken. I had family stay at the same hotel as we were down for a wedding only to have dried up vomit on their wall in their room. My other family members that stayed were charged on their credit card twice after already paying with cash for their stay. I was charged $3.00 a day extra to have my keys reactivated when they had the dates we would be staying. The one front desk service woman was a rude person where as the only positive part of my stay was the one hotel front desk host was super pleasant she even gave us a few "Grab and Go" bags for our travels back to Canada! We had to check out a day early to drive back to Toronto, Ontario to Sick Kids Hospital as my daughter needed surgery on her broken arm. She now has pins sticking out of her elbow for 3 weeks, then they will be removed. A little compassion from this hotel would have gone a long way!

    « Ol.d Property but OK »

This is about what you'd expect for a budget Best Western. The property is old and needs some updating. Wallpaper and baseboard are peeling from the bathrooms and need to be replaced. Desk clerk also takes care of the rooms, so we had to wait a while for someone to show up when we arrived to check in. Parking lot was full of semi-trucks, but there was still adequate parking. The guest clerk failed to provide us the WIFI login and password when we checked in, unlike all the other Best Westerns we stayed at on our trip. The continental breakfast was OK, but the dining room is smaller than most of the other hotels in this chain that we visited during our trip. Also, because of the smaller space, the selection is slightly more limited than at other Best Westerns, but it was good and hot and there was plenty to eat.

« Great place to stay. »

This was my second time staying here as I was driving to the Midwest from NY. The employees were great. Loved the room even if the bathroom was a bit on the small side. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was great. The last time I stayed here I had to leave before breakfast, but not this time. I'll stay here again for sure!!

« Older property but well maintained »

Well maintained for an older property. King size bed was comfortable with very nice updated bathroom. Breakfast was average but filling. Location is right off highway but confusing to get to. No refrigerator.

« stay at best western »

nice place to stay at. very friendly and knowledgeable about the works of the hotel. clean and very comfortable. very helpful with directions. the breakfast is great rooms are clean and easy acess on and off the highway.

    « Customer Service »

The room was okay. The front desk clerk seemed bothered that we stopped and asked for a room. Pointed in a general direction for where the room was. She was rude when asked where to access the room, after we got back on the bikes to find out where to get in. She stated she told us there were doors at the side of the building. We have traveled 4000 miles on a bike trip and this was the worst customer service. I lost my purse with our card in it for points, and she could not find our number in the system. Overall VERY disapointed with this Best Western.

    « Good for a Night's Stay »

This is an older motel but has some updates. The room had new bedding and the mattress was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The carpet could use replacing. They had a pool which was pretty nice. The biggest con for this place is the noise outside of the room. Lots of traffic and tractor trailers. However, when we closed our room door, we couldn't really hear it. This is a good stop when traveling across the country.

    « Don't stop, Keep going »

Ths room smelled nasty, Both full size beds had twin blankets with king sheets as top sheets. The bathroom was so tiny that you couldn't raise your left arm so you could reach across chest to get tp. Also the carpet was dirty. Tje bottom of my feet were black from going brefoot. Should have checked out and not spent night,

« Good for the Night »

I would stay here again. Nothing special but I was extremely tired and needed a good night's sleep. Short and Sweet. Clean Quietish (a few loud migrant workers heading to a new farm. They were outside drinking but were friendly) Staff were very pleasant. Price was fair.

    « Poor experience »

They would not accept a coupon at check in. when I had said on the phone six days before, that I had. I was told to bring it in and the price would be adjusted. Apparently they decided not to accept them anymore the day before and would not honor it for me. They would not let me contact a manager to question it. I was upset!

    « Very clean! »

For the amount the room cost, the value was GREAT. Breakfast was GREAT. The staff was very helpful. The convenience of the location was perfect for us. We traveled Interstate 70 to Effingham then went 57 south to our destination.

« In my opinion they are great. Me and my family love it. »

This is the second time staying at a Best Western and this stay was great also. The staff was amazing on both shifts. I'm so happy they are around the United States. I am heading out again next month and I will be staying at Best Western.

When we left the Raintree Inn, the day clerk asked me how our stay was. I said I could answer in one word "abysmal"! The one night clerk on duty could not answer our request telling us how far the motel was from our location driving on I-70 west bound. All she knew was Exit 159 on I-57. I asked her to let me speak to the manager. She said she was alone in the office and no manager was there. Her final answer was to use my G.P.S. Lucky for us my cell phone had enough power to guide us the 47 miles to the motel. From the minute the handicapped accessible room, we knew this was not really handicapped accessible. Two double beds in a room made it hard to move with a walker. If the motel had a manager on at night, we would have asked for another room. Things went downhill from there. I killed two spiders that were crawling up the wall near my wife's double bed. The room had no refrigerator in which to keep her medicine cold as required. The room had no clothes closet, just a bar with hangers recessed into the walls. When walking in stocking feet, her white socks turned black on the bottom. The grab bars near the toilet were placed so she could not reach them. The shower had a hand held shower head, but water filled the tub and would not drain. The blackout curtains were of different lengths. When the air fan ran, they would blow out toward the bed enough that we became visible when it was running. It's noise was enough to keep me awake, and its regulator managed to leave me cold. After driving over three hundred miles, we were only able to get a grand total of four hours of sleep! I relayed this to the morning shift. They said they would look into it. That led to my parting word, "abysmal". No matter how low the rate, we will never stay at this motel, and maybe never again at a Best Western.

« Housekeeping needs improvement. Cramped bathroom »

First of all, the swimming pool was refreshing, although who though that black asphalt was the best color for the deck around the pool was not thinking of 90+ degree days in the sunlight!!!! Our room was 'ready' but not 'cleaned'. There was a towel still hanging behind the door of the bathroom. The carpet outside the bathroom was so soiled my wife made a pathway of towels so she wouldn't have to walk on it. There was debris and dust bunnies in several locations--most of which indicated that the cleaning had been very superficial between guests. The room also had a very strange rear door to nowhere by the bathroom! Breakfast was better than most with more protein choices than others.

    « excellent choice »

I felt like a valued client. The desk was quite courteous and helpful. The room was clean and fresh. The bed was excellent. Breakfast was readily open and ready. A menu of fruit. cereal, waffles, eggs and bacon were appreciated.

« clean comfy room in great location »

we stay here multiple times per year as it is a great location for our annual trips back and forth from Kansas to NY. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable, dog friendly, good beds, free wifi and breakfast, all at a reasonable rate.

    « Disqusting »

The hotel front desk was rude and the lobby smelled very terrible. No parking at all. Walking towards our room there were people out on the balcony/walkway smoking pot and drinking beer and swearing. I believe people are living at this hotel. No elevator so had to climb stairs with all our luggage. Upon arriving in our room tons of people were hanging out in the hallways being very loud drinking beer. Opened the door to room and it smelled so bad it made me want to vomit. Smelled like pure urine. It was old outdated dark and scary. We went straight back to get refund and front desk and she acted like we were crazy to ask for refund. Says they refunded credit card back and after a week and a half still battling to get refund. I advise stay away, very far away. Needs to be closed down and Best Western should be ashamed of this hotel.

« Very tired old motel »

Unfortunately, this old Best Western needs a major overhaul and modernization. The non smoking room was very smoky smelling b ecause the inside hallway obviously permitted smoking by employees or guests.

« Nice room and good breakfast »

This motel is close to the highway but we were not bothered by highway noise. A good restaurant was on the same property so we could walk there. Wi-fi was free and worked well., Breakfast had a better variety than some continental breakfasts and started at 6 AM which was good for us as we wanted to get an early start.

« Could have been better! June 11-12-2016 »

This motel is right next to the.Petro truckstop. Has truck parking.Checked in Saturday afternoon, asked for a handicapped room. Got one,but this one has a bathtub. Wanted a shower, with a flat floor. Have bad knees ,getting into tubs..With no anti skid stuff on the tub. So one could slide.. BUT when checked in The girl who was training ,did not .Put my name in correct! But my bill name was...HAd to call back Monday after I had checked out,to see if I left my ear bud there. I did. I hope Thomas has mailed them home..They cost over $100.00 !!!!!! Now the build is older ,and needs some remolding. To be updated! Those aluminum windows need help. The room was fresh, with a nice soft bed....I might stay here again...

« noisy, smelly but nice staff.... »

Stayed here last night on trip from Indiana headed south. I got a smoking room, but wanted no smoking. It was so late I didn't take time to ask for a re-assignment. First off, the a/c unit, while working, was so noisy I thought someone was coming in the window every time it kicked on. The room smelled like such stench of cigarettes, even my suitcase of clothes smelled like such when I got home. The room windows were unlocked with faulty latches which made me worry about locals coming in or truck drivers from the nearby facility, if any of them had wanted to break-in. I don't know, the front desk staff were very nice. If I'd had the energy I would have asked to have been moved, but that takes more energy than the 8-10 hours I was going to try to rest there. The morning breakfast was nice, and the desk staff in the a.m., was also friendly and nice. I won't be going back, but it was all n all, not that bad for the price.

    « Great stop »

Stopped without a reservation, Was a very friendly accomadating staff, Recommended a great place to eat, Room was very clean although bathroom is a bit small. Overall it is a great place, at first I thought it might be noisy as it is close to main highway, but it is very quiet, Good value!

« Hotel is Aged, Need renovation, Room not ready »

I am a HD Ride Rewards Member and always stay at Best Western Hotels, We have stayed here before on a trip home, but we picked this one again, not knowing we stayed before, for a concert for my mom and I at the Effingham Conference Center, for the Little River Band, Room Not ready, went to lunch, still not ready, told it was busy last night, now we arrive at 2pm, check in 3pm, still not ready, we wanted to rest, Very upset had to wait, for the handicapped Rm for mom to be done.. Mgr. not very concerned about it. I was. he said it will be ready, they were not ready even after lunch past 3pm. Near Truck Stop, Large, but quiet. small bathrooms, beds comfy. but in need of updates. Front desk manger needs to get it more together, esp since we wanted just to get to our room to rest before the concert. mom is 76. Handicapped room by lobby, only 1 way in, from the outside. other rooms have front and back doors, so be cautious, hallway for Handicapped room, going around is dimly lit. Mary, the breakfast host is great! Sharon, Glasford, Illinois

    « over night stay »

stayed here before in the past and hotel was clean and fresh but this time it was dirty. Not pleased with it at all. Will not stay again. we always stop here on our way to Tennessee to visit family but will be checking out other options next time we go

« Good room. Poor breakfast »

Only biscuits and gravy for main selection of breakfast. Has fresh fruit for breakfast. Room was clean. Location was good. Average place to stay. Front desk was friendly. I would stay here again if in the area.

    « Best Breakfast Ever! »

Room was no frills but clean and comfy. Property in general good for the price. Pool was being serviced but no problem for us. Just needed a good night sleep--which we got. The free breakfast was exceptional! Waffles, eggs, sausage, muffins, toast, cereal, toast, yogurt--just about anything you could want.

« Stayed a night on the way to Chicago »

The hotel is clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However this hotel needs major Renovations. The only new thing in the whole place is the flat screen TV. The door to your room isn't even a weighted door so you absolutely have to close it because it doesn't shut behind you. The decor and everything is very outdated. When we walked into the room there was only one bed and it was a very small double bed in the room. We had a reservation for 3 adults and ended up only one bed but thank goodness there was a couch so we made do because the hotel was sold out and couldn't switch us into a room with 2 doubles or even a king bed. It is rated two and a half stars but I would say it's a one and a half maybe two star.

    « Overnight »

This hotel is comfortable but it looks I dated. They need to rehab it to freshen up the property. Interesting Lee enough, the hotel was sold out tonight. All Things Considered, I might stay here again.

« OK for what it is »

We stopped here on our way home from Memphis just looking for a place to spend the night. We were a little disappointed to discover that there was no elevator to our second floor room. But the room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and our neighbors were noisy. The price was very attractive.

    « Beware »

When I tried to open the door, it wouldn't open. Thank goodness the room had two doors. The hotel was clean but really needs updating. I had a non-smoking room but there was an odor that wouldn't go away. I told the staff that I wanted to take advantage of the $50 bonus for two separate nights stay. They said it was taken care of but they didn't do it correctly, so I wasn't given credit for the night. I called the hotel and they insisted they did it correctly. I called Best Western Rewards and it wasn't done correctly. I always thought the the Best Western brand meant a clean & comfortable room. Not so anymore. I will do more research if I ever consider Best Western again.

    « Good Value & Good Service »

Good value hotel located next to a truck stop. After traveling all day, we needed just a place to rest our heads for the night. We originally contacted a couple other places first yet they were fully booked then we saw the big lit up Best Western sign from the highway. The had one room left on the 2nd floor- no elevator. The front desk staff are wonderful- polite and courteous. The room was clean, fairly comfortable bed, and good quick wifi. The free breakfast included: eggs, meat, waffles, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit, juices and coffee. There is a small bar adjacent to the motel. The hotel gives guests a complimentary drink ticket. There is also a diner/restaurant at the truck stop. If you don't mind the low rumble of diesel engines, this is definitely a good deal for your money. The next exit off on the highway has a big variety of chain restaurants.

    « Convenient overnight stop »

Good value for the money--especially with a discount coupon--but not quite as nice as I've come to expect from Best Western properties. Just a little worn around the edges--nice and clean, comfy bed, decent breakfast and easy access to I-70/57 with nearby restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Effingham is a convenient stop when traveling on either I-70 or I-57--lots of motels and restaurants. Close to the interstate but very well soundproofed--didn't hear a sound at night.

    « Clean comfortable room »

My family were traveling for a wedding and needed to stop for the night. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly. The hotel was close to the interstate and we enjoyed the free breakfast before continuing on our trip.

« Pretty good and clean - friendly staff »

I'm fairly picky and travel allot. My wife and I thought it was pretty nice and clean. The beds were average but comfy enough for me. Seemed like a safe area and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there again. Be sure to check out Niemerg's Steakhouse Restaurant across the interstate... it's a very reasonably priced restaurant with amazing good food.

« Getting Closer to an Excellent Rating »

This was our 4th year in a row to stay at the Raintree motel and they have spent time/money upgrading a property that was worn/tired rooms & facility. But our last stay was a much improved motel. If your looking for a good/honest motel you can't go wrong with Raintree now. Tip: the Iron Skillet truck stop behind the motel is really a good place for supper and in a short walking distance.

    « business trip planting »

Hotel was very clean and bed was great. Room was very clean and staff was very helpful in helping where to eat at .I would recommend this hotel to stay at close to Interstate so can get on and off. but this would be only problem is that sometimes you could hear traffic

    « Old style motel »

The rooms were renovated but not recently. The rooms are a good size. The bathroom is tiny but clean. The rug looks like it needs a good cleaning and there is a rip at the door. The hallway coming into the motel had an unpleasant odor, but the room was fine. This is a two story motel without an elevator. If climbing the stairs with suitcases is difficult for you then this is not a good stop. It was convenient to the highway.

    « A Great Place to Stay »

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years. While the building has aged, they have attempted to keep the property well kept and the rooms in great shape. We have found the rooms to be very clean and the beds very comfortable. They have added a hot breakfast including waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, fruit, hot biscuits, as well as the usual cereals, breads, bagels, muffins, yogurt, etc. Certainly something for everyone. It is very reasonably priced and a great value for your money.

    « very good service »

easy to get to and room was in good shape. I had a smoking room and it was clean and looked to be recently redone. Had a very good breakfast but missed the gravy for my biscuit. Very friendly staff and fast with my check in. Will stay there again if in the area.

    « Clean and convenient »

The staff was very nice. The breakfast was very good with many choices. Room was clean and everything was in good working order. It was a little noisy being close to the freeway. They do allow pets for an extra charge.

« mattress needs replaced, but very clean »

The mattress wasn't bad, but mushy and felt worn out, needs to be replaced. The room was very clean, considering the price, we were wondering if it was going to be okay. The highway traffic you can hardly hear and the cleanliness of the room was our most important issue when making our selection. The breakfast is very basic, juice, coffee, bagels as such

    « Just the basics »

The hotel is old, but clean. The room was nice and the bathroom was stocked appropriately. I had no problem with the room. Here are my complaints: 1) Under "amenities" it says they have free popcorn, but they don't and the employees didn't know anything about it. This may not sound like much, but I'm a popcorn-aholic and was super disappointed 2) There are smoking and non-smoking sections of the hotel. The problem is that the non-smoking section is the farthest away from the lobby, so us non-smokers had to walk through the smoking section of the hotel to get to the lobby. They should have this the other way around. 3) They ran out of food (there were no: eggs, muffins, toast, biscuits, yogurt, fresh fruit, or fruit cocktail) for breakfast on Sunday morning. We arrived at breakfast at about 8:45, there was still 45 minutes left until breakfast was over!

    « Comfortable »

We took a room to rest before finishing a long drive and were pleased with the Raintree Inn. Employees were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well presented and delicious. Room was comfortable and the sleep was as good as one can get next to an interstate.

    « Nice for a big dog »

The Raintree has plenty of green space in which to walk a dog. Very helpful for those of us traveling with our critters. Don't let the fact it is next to a Petro Station stop you. It was quiet and nearby trucks weren't a bother.

    « Not Bad »

Just passing through so stopped for the night. Overall nice place, good price. Only thing that bugged me was smoking and non smoking rooms next to each other. The hall was smokey. Room was nice and clean just small bathrooms.

« Amazing staff, I was stuck in town due to a illness, felt like I was home »

They knew I was sick, they made my stay so much more bearable, I really appreciated the staff who went above and beyond making me feel better. The room was clean, everything was current. They put me right next to the lobby so I would not have far to walk. Thank you so much,

    « Getting Better »

This is about the 4th year we have stayed at the Raintree motel and each stay they have stepped up the running of the motel. I hope on their bucket list for the motel are room updates as they are showing their ware and an up-grade to the beds would be wonderful by replacing the spring mattress for the foam/firm type bed. And it would be wonderful to have the motel include a small fridge and microwave also in each room as folks now a days travel with their own food.

    « Great rooms »

Had one comfortable room for my stay. Everything was so clean and one great bed. Breakfast was hot and ready in the morning. Becky at the front desk in the morning was so helpful and alway had a smile.

    « Great bed »

I stopped while traveling from Kansas City to Ohio. The people at the front desk were so nice and friendly I would stop again just to treated so well. The bed was perfect and the room was quiet. I was in a hurry and did not have time to eat before leaving but the coffee was good and also fresh brewed when I left at 5am.

« A must stop due to flooding »

Room was unpleasant, not quite clean. Bathroom had the sink right in the room, very uncomfortable with 2 people in the room. Location of the hotel was complicated to find , it was actually in truck parking lot. Had to walk outside ,very cold, to get to breakfast. Breakfast was good, lots of variety, but set up not very inviting.

    « Fine for a late-night stop »

This hotel is fine for catching some sleep on a long trip. Good sleep is debatable--the mattresses were not comfortable and the blanket that you get is very thin and worn down. Crank up the heat! The bathrooms are nice and recently remodeled but the rooms themselves are dingy and outdated. If you're looking for a clean place to crash and don't have a bad back, this is fine.

« Not worth BW points! »

We found the hotel to be in need of renovating. Smokers seem to think the non-smoking premises doesn't apply (and management apparently agrees!). We are BW rewards members and choose BW whenever we find a pet friendly location if we're travelling with Fido. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that are better choices, sad to say.

    « Not Happy »

In general, a barely adequate experience. Found highway truck noise to be uncomfortable. Complex entrance was difficult to access. Decor was antiquated. Corridors were creepy. Seems like a place you would stay only if you had to. Amenities were scarce. Seemed like a Truck stop.

« Nice place to stay »

We've stayed here several times over the last several years for trips from the south to northern Illinois. If you're looking for a nice clean room for a great value this is the place for you. They also have a very nice breakfast to get you right on the road. The restaurant next door is also worth a visit. Nothing fancy, but good room and food are great values. I suggest to friends and family. Check it out - you won't be disappointed.

« An Adequate place to stop overnight »

We have stayed at this Motel at least twice before and it is still the same. This is an average motel with clean rooms, good beds, easily accessible to the rooms and a good breakfast. The facilities could use some better 'maintenance' of public areas and better exterior door security features. Some of the door latches, locks, etc. are showing signs of 'WEAR' and need attention, but for all purposes, the safety is adequate. The staff is courteous and friendly and helps when needed. What keeps us coming back is its ease it getting off of the Interstate and within 1 mile of the next exit that had 'everything you want in types of places to eat'.

    « bussiness trip »

The staff warm friendly very informed on perks any questions I had , very quick to come to our room to fix tv issue, room was nice clean and comfortable, to my surprise excellent rate for pro. drivers breakfast good, lounge very good staff/bartender Nikki excellent, all around great place to stay, good location right next to I-70.

« Great place to stay! »

Not our first visit to this location but the friendly staff, clean spacious rooms and great breakfast keep us returning. Depending on where your room is located you might get some road noise but we have not noticed it on our visits. Staff are very friendly and willing to help. The restaurant next door has a new chef and we had a good meal.

« Well, you get what you pay for »

Pros: Price, location (very near interstate), OK breakfast. Cons: Location (very near noisy interstate), very simple/small room, outdated, thin walls, tiny bathroom, a part of a truck stop (if this concerns you). Also room was not particularly clean. If you just want a cheap place to lay your head, this will do, but I'd suggest spending a few more $$ and going elsewhere.

    « Very nice hotel »

This hotel is comfortable and pleasant. The rooms are clean. The bathrooms are very nice, offering extra towels, a curved shower curtain bar, and plenty of space. The breakfast bar is excellent, including gluten free cereal as an option for people like me who need that. Our dogs were welcome guests.

    « Great Friendly Place »

The Hotel is very nice and their people makes it a pleasure to stay here. Coffee and a great breakfast before going to work each morning makes for a great day. My room is always clean and my things placed neatly for me. Many thanks to the Hotel and their staff for making me feel at home.

    « Good basic stay »

Pet friendly. Military discount. Free WiFi. Easy access off of interstate, however if you have room on the front you will hear the highway noise all night. Rooms are clean but only shampoo stocked in room. Breakfast good - hot and cold choices.

    « Friendly service »

We arrived mid afternoon. Our room was ready and was ground floor as requested. Check in was efficient and friendly. Our room faced the interstate but I never noticed any noise. Breakfast was good. Rates are reasonable. We will definitely be staying again if we are in effingham

« Nice place to stay »

Motel is right off the highway. There is a late night longue, a gas station and a 24hr restaurant next door. They are pet friendly and have rooms with balconies! Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and roomie, beds are comfy. We stayed in 'off-season' but the pool area looked nice. There is plenty of property to walk your dog. The only reason I rated sleep quality very good instead of excellent is that being on the side of the motel facing the interstate you can hear the traffic noise some (and I'm not used to traffic noise at all), but it was not real loud. This is an older motel that has been kept well and remodeled.

    « OK Stay »

Based on reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, I was surprised by how different I experienced this hotel. While the staff were very nice and very helpful, the hotel was shabby at best. When walking into the main building I was hit by the extremely strong smell of what seems to be some kind of strong air freshener trying to cover up decades-old cigarette smoke. It almost choked me. And while my room was clean and basic, the same was true there...such a strong odor that my eyes burned. It took about 2 hours of running the fan on high to get rid of the smell, and even after being gone all day, when I returned I had to start over running the fan. Additionally, the shower curtain in my room was also smelly of mildew. The room was clean and comfortable and the wifi was reliable. The breakfast was fine with a very helpful and friendly staff person. But with the large number of hotels in the immediate area, I don't think I would try to stay here again.

    « Our Favorite hotel »

We choose Raintree Best Western when traveling from our Cleveland area home to Kansas. We have never been disappointed. The rooms have always been well-stocked, the staff always friendly and helpful, the rooms clean. We love the restaurant for it's convenience, good food and good service. We even have the option of taking the meal back to our room. We can take our small dog. The price is right, also.

    « comfort »

give the Raintree Inn a 100 trip a must stay...plan a trip with the Grandbabies and we will definatley stay At Raintree Inn...right off the interstate and close to other breakfast ..just perfect for the 700 mile trip breaks it down to a more enjoyable ride..

« great place to stay while on the road »

Room was clean and check in was efficient A little road noise and a distant train horn is all that was heard under normal conditions... heard someone late in the night check in to his room. He was very loud barking orders to his family and banging the doors. I guess he treats them like the family pets. other than that the hotel was very nice.

    « comfortable and secure »

Not fancy but felt secure and comfortable. Older property that was well kept and clean. Bed comfortable and handy, chairs and table, but no refrigerator or microwave. Stayed at this location twice during our trip, going through in Sept. and on way home in Oct. Was satisfied both times. Breakfast ok, the scrambled eggs should be avoided though. Had panhandlers harassing us in parking lot as we were unpacking vehicle.

« clean, friendly staff, very small bathroom »

Pros: Friendly clerk on the phone to make a reservation, was quick and painless, he blocked the room type I requestion, check in clerk was friendly at 7:30 PM, room was very clean, caulking around bathtub was bright white, bathroom smelled of bleach, fresh paint, newer, or at least non stained carpet, breakfast was good for free, waffles, biscuits/gravy, cereal, muffins, etc. TV was hidef, and had hidef channels. (Why is this so difficult?) Nuetral: Bed was soft for my taste, I like a firm bed Cons: No coffee maker in room, majority of BW's I have stayed at have a microwave/fridge. This room (King) didn't have room for one. Bathroom was tiny, door was about 2' wide. First time I have ever seen the closet rod in the closet going into the closet instead of across the closet, that says small. Not much the owner can do about that thought, the building is older. If the cons don't matter to you, this is a solid choice.

« best western raintree, effingham, IL »

We enjoyed this hotel for the short stay we were there. The rooms were very clean. Beds were very comfortable gave us a good nights sleep. The staf was very friendly and got us checked in quickly. Overall a good value.

    « Going home »

Nice, convenient place to stop after long day of driving. Easy to contact by phone while driving and very friendly service lady. Breakfast was warm and constantly restocked and kept clean. Very typical selection of food. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable - did not really hear road noise. AAA discount.

« Dark, Grubby, Not Secure »

I'm not certain where other reviewers stayed, but it doesn't sound like my experience. Our overall impression of the hotel was that it was old, dreary, and not well looked after. The room was ok, although our bathroom door didn't close. I'm not talking about locking, it didn't close. The main entry doors were dirty, windows dirty, and needed some attention. I hated touching the handles. The outside entry door at one end of the hotel had a broken window and the door at the other end of the hotel by pool, did not lock. In fact, it looked like it couldn't ever be locked because the mechanisms were painted over. This place needs major cleaning, redecorating, and maintenance.

« Just traveling thru Illinois »

I was returning from Oklahoma to Ohio and stopped and stayed at the Best Western in Effingham, Illinois. It was not a real fancy hotel but it was clean and had a wonderful staff. Beds were comfortable and they had a free breakfast which was good enough to get you started. Sausage gravy, biscuits, fruit, boiled eggs, etc. I would recommended this hotel to anyone traveling. They also had a restaurant on the premises which I did not go to and had like a casino so there were things in the area that were convenient and again the staff was great. Downside was there was no elevator to the 2n floor so you had to drag your suitcase up the stairs. An extra plus was that some of the rooms had balconies you could go out on so that was nice. Good stay.

« Nice over night stop on the way home »

We have been very pleased with Best Western in the past. This hotel appeared to be a well run and well cared for. Very clean room and bedding. Would definitely stay here again. A really good choice going south from St. Louis.
