« Easy Drive to Many Area Attractions »

This is a very nice property situated in a scenic area. The staff was excellent and our queen suite was spacious with both a bed, sofa, and desk with chair. Dillsboro is just a short drive to Cherokee, Sylva, Maggie Valley, Franklin, Waynesville, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountain National Park and numerous other area attractions.

« Moved to another room while gone! »

Please read this whole review. After being woke up at 10:30 pm our first night and told there might be a problem about our room we were informed the next morning we would have to move. I informed them we would not agreed to that. After putting a do not disturb sign on our door(I don't like my things touched by someone else) while in Ashville @ the Biltmore I was informed by phone that did happen. When we returned all our things had been moved to another room. Wish you could see pictures of how our things were left. Even my toothbrush had just been put on top of a ice chest and not wrapped up or anything. Computer was throw in opened luggage(not placed on desk as in other room) and other items as while. We stayed here because of a great article written in the Birmingham News about it's location. I will never believe what I read again but than you might not believe this. I told two managers we would not move and this happened anyway. The room we were put in had a headboard for a king and only a queen bed was there. The nightstands on the wall were therefore at least 8 to 12 inches from the bed. I booked on Hotels.com and booked a river view room. That's what we had till we were moved. I can't blame the staff but do the management. this could happen to you.

    « Love the River! »

We had a beautiful view of the river from our room! The breakfast room faces the river as well. It's a great place to stay, relax, and visit with friends. The town of Dillsboro is so cute and has some great places to eat! We love the mountains!

    « Warning--Room Rate was Changed at Check-In »

A word of caution before booking at this hotel: The original rate offered increased by $50 per night when we arrived to check in. There was no manager available on a Friday evening at 6:00 to help understand that we had only removed one night of our original reservation 3 days prior and we were never told that the rate had increased. We tried for 1 hour to get the problem resolved but to no avail. I would not stay here again because of the poor customer service.

    2
    « Warning - It's not what they advertise »

$222/night for a room that overlooks a parking lot although it advertised and what I confirmed was a 'riverview', runs out of 'hot breakfast' (see picture of the empty trays - all of them :15 minutes before closing), noise from the elevator and every car that opens/closes a door/truck, and wifi that provides a constant 'spinning wheel trying to load' service. Top this off with a front desk that says "yes, our corporate website doesn't match our hotel but you can call back on Monday to talk with a manager" and you end up with an highly over priced experience. This hotel is worth $68 to $73/night.

« Can't go wrong at this hotel »

Excellent quality and location. Very impressed overall. Book it. You will not be disappointed. Location and view from the river balcony rooms are a must do. Enjoyed the facility and the outside deck area.

    « Great Smokey Mountain »

Spent 3 days visiting Dillsboro, Sylva, and Bryson City. This hotel is right on the Tuck river and our suite had a balcony over looking the river. Breakfast had a wide verity of hot and cold choses. Coffee available 24/7. Nice sitting area with double sided fireplace. Great place to stay

« Beautiful, restful, relaxing riverside inn »

What a wonderful, surprising, beautiful place! Never knew about this little gem -- found it only because nothing else was available in the area (because of folks fleeing Florida because of Matthew). The surrounding area at first led us to believe we were going to be staying in an industrial facility or a warehouse, but then the property came into view and then we understood that part of the name (River Escape). We intend to escape to this hotel as many times as we can in the future when we are in the Sylva or Cherokee or Maggie Valley area (for example, to bring our grandchildren to ride the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad). Its was so peaceful and relaxing to sit on in the chairs just outside our room or walk to the veranda next to the lobby and drink wine and meet other equally happy guests (who made some excellent suggestions for other sights to see in the area). We wish we could have stayed here longer, but the place was booked up -- and certainly with very good reason!

    « Overpriced for quality »

We were pleased with the view of the river from our balcony. The rooms are outdated. The blankets smelled musty like they had not been washed in months. The breakfast was very nice and being able to sit outside while eating was a nice bonus. The check in staff and maintenance were very helpful and pleseant. Recommend you wash blankets and lowere the rate.

« Lovely room with great views »

We decided to stop in Dillsboro for the night on our way through the Smoky Mountains. Check in was quick and easy. The front desk clerk, Kassidy, was very friendly and helpful. When we asked her for recommendations for dinner, she printed us a list of restaurants in the area with the hours of operation listed for each. We chose a river view room. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our balcony had two chairs with a small table to enjoy the beautiful river views. The continental breakfast had a lot to choose from. Omelets, waffles, cereals, etc Off the lobby is a balcony with chairs and rockers to enjoy the lovely river views. We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel.

« Nice quiet place in a nice quiet town »

This was a nice place in a nice town and a great getaway for a weekend. The staff was very friendly and the room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good (eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, gravy, etc.) if you wanted to eat there, but is also very close to town and other options. We liked it and would go back.

    5
    « Excellent »

This was our second stay at this hotel. Hotel, service, and amenities are excellent. Setting on the river is great. Pool and Hot Tub area is very nice. Breakfast good. Staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. Would recommend this hotel.

« Listen to the river »

This hotel was a really nice find. We stayed on the 3rd floor, balcony room. It was really nice sitting on the balcony, listening to the river going over the rocks. The room was immaculate, beds were ok, and the hotel staff extremely professional.

    5
« Excellent staff and accommodations. »

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, view great, pool and spa were nice. The staff was exceptional. The staff provided a list of restaurants in area. We enjoyed the surrounding restaurants and sights. Vikki

    « average »

Average stay, breakfast was average, thought this was an overpriced hotel for overall experience. Staff was nice and friendly. Location was nice but difficult to first find. This was not a $200 plus per night facility in my opinion.

    5
    « A great escape »

This is a great place. It is right on a mountain river that makes nice splashy rapids sounds as I sit on my balcony. It is a bit hard to find but we have been her several times and know the way. It is very relaxing and comfortable and the staff is great.

    5
« Best Western River Front »

Located on the river with very scenic views. Hotel has been recently remodeled and updated and is a great place to stay. Not inexpensive but it is a good value for the money. A group of us have used this hotel for a fall mountain trip for the past two years and will continue to stay here in the future.

    2
    « Beautiful scenery BUT... »

Well kept hotel. Great breakfast. Lovely view overlooking a beautiful lazy mountain stream for relaxation until a 24/7 (Sunday included) barrage of gravel trucks thunder constantly to & from the intermittent blasting quarry 1/4 mile away. No sleep from the constant rumbling so we checked out next morning & went to a quieter hotel.

    4
    « Beautiful »

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food was plentiful and the view was spectacular. I believe we enjoyed all that there was to offer. We enjoyed sunrise and sunset by the water and watched the fog roll off the water in the afternoon sun. Very nice get away from the hustle and bustle of Cherokee. Do stop and get ya some wood as the fire pit was relaxing to watch. Had a great time listening to the water as we talked with other visitors by the fire.

    « Always enjoyable. »

Great hotel, love staying here and seeing the river. So peaceful sitting on the deck in the rocking chairs and watching the birds and watching the people going down the river in rafts and kayaks. Breakfast is very good for a continental breakfast. Rooms are nice and the staff is always great.

    « Beautiful views »

Staff are pleasant and helpful. Rooms are nice and spacious. Bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets were stained.. Breakfast was just mediocre. View of Creekside was excellent. Staff was very helpful and polite.

    5
« Love the Riverside Location »

We booked this hotel because of the relaxing and fun River Views right off of our balcony. What a pleasant surprise to arrive and find this very tastefully renovated hidden jewel. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Everyone on staff provided such excellent customer service, that it was actually noticeable how pleasant and accommodating they all were. We will definitely be back!

    5
    « Beautiful View »

there was a fantastic view of the river on the back side of the hotel, you can even select a riverfront view so there are many options. It is isolated as well so you are not smack dap in the middle of a city so it was peaceful.

    5
« My favorite place to relax »

You won't find a better place to relax and enjoy the beautiful riverfront setting. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening, toasting marshmallows and making s'mores. It's only a short drive to some great hiking and waterfall walks.

    5
« Excellent get away in the mountains »

The Best Western Plus River Escape Inn and Suites was a pleasant surprise find in the mountains. We had wanted to stay in a B&B for my birthday but everything was booked. We had a very bad experience once years ago at a Best Western in Niagara Falls and had never tried one again until now and I am very glad we did. We took a big chance this time and the hotel was lovely, quiet and on a beautiful location on the river. We only had some problems with the water pressure going up and down. Other than that, the room was big and clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was included and very nice as well. The balcony overlooking the river from our room was a wonderful experience. We would definitely return!

« Home Away from Home »

Love this hotel - Riverside is where I love to sit - been staying here for 10 years. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. No pets allowed - but there are ducks on the river to look at. Lovely outside seating by the river. Indoor pool which did not seem to be heated. Hot tub was very hot but very little bubbles.

    « Nice Spot....Poorly Managed...Double Charged! »

This Hotel sits nicely on the Tuckaseegee River in a nice quiet spot. I have stayed here often on Fishing Trips. The View is Great and the Wifi is Spotty. The Hotel has been undergoing steady changes....a remodel and new Management policies. Unfortunately, the trend has been noticeably downwards here. I have experienced Poor trips over the last year....with the Hotel constantly bungling my Reservations. On my last trip in August.....despite a Prepaid Reservation.....and a Call to confirm.....I arrived to No Room. When I told them that I KNOW Hotels hold back a couple of rooms to sell at Higher Rates....they magically produced a room.....but then insisted I pay again (Much Higher Price)....in spite of my showing them that I had ALREADY paid. The Front Desk Clerk told me there was little she could do about it (Double Charge).....but that it would be fixed as soon as a Manager came in! Over a Four Day Stay....No Manager came in or was available?....and the Owner proved Elusive as well. When I tried to leave a Voicemail....I was told "His Voicemail doesn't really work"....A VERY Bad Sign! I checked out under protest. Hotels.com tried to contact the Hotel on my behalf at least (5) times. I called MANY times......and was told "We're not able to refund money"??? So....I have been forced to Dispute the Double Charges. This is Unacceptable for Any Hotel. The Staff was Nice and Polite.....but Incapable of actual Help. My advice if you stay here....NEVER Prepay ....Only at the Front Desk, once you have your Room....and Happy Travels!

    « Fantastic stay »

I booked a river view room and got a first floor room upon checking in. I don't normally care for first level rooms, but I loved it this time. The double doors opened onto a patio that was then easily assessable to the common patio areas. The river view was great, rooms were clean and service was fantastic. It is also located really close to plenty of good restaurants and breweries. Can't recommend it enough!

    « Right time, place. »

We ran out of daylight and weather so we decided to "camp" out at the Dillsboro Best Western. We were not disappointed from check-in cookies to the check-out lunch bag to go. We got our money's worth alone from the pool and breakfast next morning and the creekside views and deck were awesome. The rooms were perfect, no complaints. We'd go hear again to take advantage of the great location and very kind people running the place whether it as at the front desk or breakfast room.

« Great place to stay very private location »

This was a very nice place with a great room on the river . I was impressed with the service and value . It is by far a better deal for your money than any of the other Hotels in the area I would stay here again for sure .

« Lovely View, Clean Hotel, and Friendly Staff »

We stayed two nights this past weekend. While the hotel was full, it did not feel crowded. We had a corner room on second floor with a river view. The balcony overlooked the river and was beautiful and relaxing. The lobby of the hotel is clean and nicely decorated and the back deck has a gorgeous view of river. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only very minor detail I would have liked is more than one hook to hang towels. There is plenty of parking. The free breakfast was fine. Just a tip, there is nothing within walking distance but the town is not far. The pool and fitness center were clean. Overall a very nice hotel in a beautiful location.

« Great Place to stay »

This BW has just been remodeled. It has a wonderful sitting area in the back over looking the water with rocking chairs. I was sitting out there one afternoon when I was visiting the area and a eagle flew right down in front of me. Breakfast is good it has a fair to good selection of offerings. The staff is pleasant. All in all a great place to stay.

    5
    « Great little hotel »

We stayed here for two nights over a weekend. We booked the last available room, which gave us the room that opened directly onto the lobby and breakfast area of the hotel. I've never seen a room do that before, but ours did. However, even being located across from the ice machine room, and in that location, the room was extremely quiet. The hotel is immaculate; our room was spacious and comfortable with a queen bed, a fold out sofa, and a table with two chairs, as well as a dresser with the TV on it, and a mini-fridge and microwave. The deck area of the hotel is wonderful with rocking chairs overlooking the river. We spent an hour sipping our drinks, talking with fellow travelers, and watching a fly fisherman in the river. There is a large indoor pool, and hot tub. The breakfast included a pancake machine, as well as a waffle maker, oatmeal, cereal, pre-cooked omelettes, bagels, biscuits, etc. The staff people were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is off the beaten path, but is a great location for touring the area. We will stay here again.

« One of the BEST! »

We just came home from our two night stay at the Best Western River Escape and it was wonderful! The staff is friendly and helpful. We didn't have any issues with our room, staff, check-in, check-out, etc..... Cookies in the evenings (Sun-TH) There is a lot of variety for breakfast and though it's not a restaurant, the breakfast is impressive. Omelets, pancakes, waffles, yogurts, fruits, juices, gravy biscuits....WOW! The outside seating along the river is wonderful. Plenty of tables and rocking chairs. We got our food to go one evening and had dinner outside by the river. Our 5 yr. old. loved it!

    « Dream room! »

My husband and I had been on a weeklong trip from Florida to Niagara Falls.. We stayed in a lot of hotels as you can imagine.. He called and booked this room for our last night before we made it home. Oh me... We were shocked at the beauty of this place.. Not only did we have a balcony, but these were the most comfortable beds of our trip.. Totally made us wish we had just one more night! We will visit again!

    « Stay in Dillsboro »

Excellent hotel, remote and on a beautiful river. Excellent staff and very clean property and rooms. Very close to an excellent Greek / Italian restaurant.Very convenient to GSM Railroad in Bryson City.

    « Wonderful 2 day stay »

Stayed 2 days here and everything was perfect. Clean rooms, wonderful views, great breakfast and outstanding staff. Our check in hostess Aaliyah set the tone reflecting an inn that truly cares for their guest. She and all staff were very warm and welcoming. This was a perfect stay for visits to Bryson City, Fontana Lake, Cherokee and Dillsboro. The patio in our room overlooking the river was a perfect setting to rest after a day of visiting all the sites and of course enjoy a relaxing cocktail. Thanks to all for a most enjoyable stay and we will be back.

    5
« Our stays at Best Western are always pleasant »

Staying at Best Western is always a pleasant experience. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the towels soft, the hot breakfast good and the employees pleasant. At Dillsboro, NC, the Tuckaseigee River flows just behind the breakfast room, adding to the pleasantness.

    5
« Breakfast Was First Class »

Really enjoyed our stay. The beds were clean and comfortable, the shower was the right pressure and the breakfast was hot with a good variety of items. Probably one of the best breakfasts out there. The staff was helpful and friendly everyday we were there.

    5
« Love the VIEWS from this Property »

Staff at front desk was great, breakfast was great, views from hotel were also wonderful. We went on the Tuckasagee River and had a great time as well. This is the 2nd time we have been to this property and it had been updated and we would come back again as well.

« Right on the River!!!! »

Beautiful riverfront views but make sure you ASK for riverfront or you'll be looking at the parking lot - location is otherwise a bit remote - have to drive to wherever your heart sends you. Nothing within walking distance. The hotel itself is well maintained, friendly staff, good breakfast fare in the AM. Common amenities avail... indoor pool, gym, hot tub, outdoor fire pits, picnic area and grills available for guests - all facing river... but if you are traveling to be near Cherokee Nation (casinos, hiking, waterfalls, white water rafting), probably best to go north another 20 minutes or so. Old Town Dillsboro has some cute little touristy shops, crafts, sweets, etc.

    5
    « very nice hotel »

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay. This hotel is in the middle of many activities. Had a great time shopping at the shops in Dillsboro. Loved the front staff, they were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and shopping.

    5
    « Excellent Staff & Sourounding »

We drove 1100 miles at arrived tired and hoping the place would be nice. We were pleasantly surprised! The staff that we encountered on the evening shift was extremely friendly and professional and welcomed us. And the morning shift was also extremely friendly and helpful. So was the cleaning lady when I asked for an extra pen, she was extremely friendly too! Great stay will do it again!

    4
    « NC trip »

Very nice hotel in a great location. Helpful and friendly staff. We would definitely stay there again. As usual, the free breakfast was far from acceptable. Dried out eggs and whimpy bacon with air bread for toast. Other than that, it was a good stay.

    4
« Great setting and above average hotel »

Hotel is located in a beautiful setting on a mountain river. Very quiet, clean, and fast Internet. Hotel is close to great restaurants and has a nice breakfast itself. Very nice sunrises and sunsets from hotel side facing river.

    4
« Love looking at the river! »

We were delighted with our suite overlooking the Tuckaseigee River. We stayed near the end of a 10-?day ?drive through western North Carolina, and it was a perfect way to end a lovely trip. The suite's extra room and the balcony could have used more comfortable seating, and the breakfast room needed more attention. (I watched people going for seconds and thirds scoop up the biscuits and gravy before I even had a taste!) But my husband and I had the beautiful view, which more than made up for any small problems.

    5
« Did I say CLEAN?? Outstanding Experience »

The staff at this hotel obviously takes great pride in the look, feel and cleanliness of the property and it shows! Outdoorsy experience with the luxuries of a hotel. Indoor pool, firepits, deck over the river were great!

    5
    « review »

It was a great stay, wonderful location. River view room was well worth it. Courteous staff, extremely friendly. I would certainly recommend to anyone traveling in the area. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

    5
    « Great place »

We had my wife's family reunion here and loved our stay. The rooms were nice and clean and we had a king suite which worked great so we could put our baby's pack n play on the far side of the room to keep from disturbing him. The deck overlooking the river was enjoyable in the evenings. And the staff was top notch. The manager, Season, even comped my father-in-law the meeting room we used to gather in. We would stay here again without a doubt.

    5
    « quiet »

This hotel was away from traffic, very quiet, on the river. Rooms were great. Beds were comfortable. We didn't have any problems & would definitely stay again if in the area. The front desk people are very knowledgeable about the area & are very friendly.

    « Western NC vacation »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. It was clean, and we had a wonderful view of the river. We would definitely recommend an upgrade for the river view. It was well worth it. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool was very nice and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have ever had at a hotel. The surrounding area of Dillsboro & Sylva were lovely quaint towns. We will definitely go back!

    5
    « Great visit! »

Lovely views of the river. Super convenient, quiet alternative when visiting the Cherokee Casino. About a 10 min drive MAX. Very clean and convenient to the adorable towns Sylva and Dillsboro, which have great breweries and restaurants!

    5
    « Nice hotel »

Booked a room with river view, this is great. Nice room with good facilities. We used the laundry room and drank free coffee on the balcony just watching the river. Both of us had a very good night's sleep. The breakfast area has a pancake machine!! Which lots of people used. We only stayed 1 night as we were travelling but wish it could have been longer.

    5
    « 2nd Stay but won't be the last! »

About 2 months ago my husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights. It was such a great experience, we decided to spend a whole week here for vacation. The view is stunning and the staff is fantastic. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and helpful. This is a great place to stay and take day trips in different directions. My only suggestion would be to hire a shredding company instead of burning your paperwork in the fire pit!

    5
    « Wonderful Views »

We stayed here for three nights and hated to go home! The front desk was very helpful and friendly at check in. The rooms were well laid out, spacious, clean and affordable. The extra cost for a river view room was worth the cost by far. We enjoyed our balcony and watching the river and those on the river. Our kids enjoyed the pool and breakfast which were both high quality. Finally, the boardwalk area with rocking chairs was a great selling point. I hope we can swing by for another trip soon!

    4
« Beautiful view, nice rooms, good breakfast »

Travelling with children from Raleigh to Atlanta we decided to stop half way and found this little gem. The view was spectacular overlooking the river. We were even able to eat our breakfast outside. The kids enjoyed the pool. The free cookies were a nice plus at check-in. Our room was clean and beds were confortable. The only reason I didnt give it a five-star was because they dont ban smoking on the patio overlooking the river. That part just ruins things when you are trying to enjoy the scenery and fresh air, though this would not discourage me from staying again, just a friendly suggestion.

    5
« Beautiful view, very nice staff, very clean »

This hotel is gorgeous. They renovated it a year ago and the entire thing is very nice and clean. The Tuckasegee river out back is gorgeous. We had breakfast while watching a fly fisherman. The rafting trips (that we were there for) go right by the hotel. People on the Tuckasegee are so friendly. The breakfast is great - waffles, pancakes, fruit, cereal, biscuits and gravy, coffee, etc, etc. The indoor pool and hot tub are great. The pool room is very warm. The rooms are very comfortable. Ours had a small fridge and a very small safe in the closet. The bedding and linens are nice. We were on the non-view side. The view side rooms have a small balcony overlooking the river. Not sure how much they would be, but the non view was a bit pricey ($180 for a Saturday night). I wish they had more seat and table outside. They have comfy rocking chairs to enjoy the view from as well. The staff was so friendly and wonderful. There is a train on the second floor, open to the balcony. They turned it on for our kids multiple time. It has a model of downtown Dillsboro. Hillsboro is absolutely adorable. The town closes up early based on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad schedule. The BBQ place in town is fantastic. Stay at this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

    5
    « Outstanding Service »

All of the Hotel staff were friendly and helpful at this hotel, but one individual stood out from the rest - her name is 'Season'. Very good 'energy' coming from this staff - well run. The only thing I would change is I would prefer to have fresh eggs, and I suspect that the scrambled and omelets we had were powdered or processed eggs.

    « Relaxing River Views »

Very nice place with river views. Watch the waterfowl swim and listen to the wonderful sound of the river from your balcony. This hotel has been updated. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The hotel is very quiet and there is a good, free breakfast. You are right in the midst of the Smokies, close to Cherokee and you can enjoy the small towns that are close by. Great place to stay in this area.

« Great Hotel in a Small Town »

My work travel takes me to Dillsboro, NC every few years and I always stay here. I especially love the view of the Tuckasegee River from the back terrace while enjoying my breakfast - this sets it apart from other lodging choices in the area for me. The staff are especially attentive and the place has recently been remolded too. I am generally a B&B person, and while I stay in hotels for work travel, every time I leave this place, I vow to come back and stay again for a leisure visit.

    « Anniversary Weekend »

We stayed here to get away for a few days. This hotel is on the river, and we got a room on that side. We sat on our balcony and soaked in the wonderful scenery complete with kayakers, tubers, and fly fishermen and women. For those that aren't staying directly on the river, there is a large deck overlooking the river complete with rocking chairs, tables, chairs, and umbrellas. The breakfast was really good, and the staff was exceptional! We will stay here again. There were two things that were negative about our stay: 1) the internet was not adequate to do anything, and 3) we got here at 4:00 (check in time is 3:00) and our room was not ready. We waited on the deck overlooking the river while our room was readied for us.... Inconvenient, but what a nice place to wait!

    « Hotel on the river's edge »

We had stayed here years ago when the hotel first opened and were a little apprehensive about whether the hotel was up to date. No worries - rooms were very spacious, the river view was fantastic. Good location, on the way to Cherokee or the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is worth the extra for the river view.

    « Nice Place - Great Staff »

I was very pleased with this hotel. Only feedback is that most of the fitness equipment was broken so I couldn't exercise during my stay. The location is great. On the river with incredible views. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had. Staff is very nice and helpful. They make it a great place.

« Reliable and Centrally Located »

We have stayed here over twenty times in the last fifteen years. The hotel is on the banks of the Tuckasegee River in quaint Dillsboro, NC. Small, always clean, recently updated, with friendly staff. In hotel complimentary breakfast is convenient before beginning an outdoor, mountain day.

« We Love this Beautiful Hotel and Location! »

We have stayed at this Best Western PLUS River Escape Inn and Suites in the beautiful mountain town of Dillsboro, NC several times, and we absolutely love it!! We always request a Riverside Room because it overlooks a beautiful, relaxing mountain river, where you can watch people tubing and canoeing. The complimentary breakfast is always fresh and delicious, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel!.

Very nice place to stay. We were last minute with finding a hotel and had just had a bad experience some where else. Checked in Best Western and were relieved to find a very good hotel room. Best Western in Dillsboro, Nc.

« The view is worth it! »

The hotel is right on the river and you can eat breakfast outside. The staff is friendly and helpful. Get a balcony side room, you won't regret it. The breakfast is pretty standard. The indoor pool area also has a private patio with a grill.

Great property and wonderful stay. Try and stay on backside, river view. You will enjoy this experience, Great hiking trails are nearby, Very clean and friendly staff. Try "Coaches" restaurant for a great steak.

« River View Rooms are the Best »

If you stay at this hotel, reserve a room with a river view. It's extremely relaxing. The location is great if you're participating in one of the many outdoor recreational activities near by. If you're there on a Sunday, make sure you eat dinner before going to the hotel for the night. Nothing is open but the Huddle House and I don't recommend it.

    « Beautiful Mountain View & Peaceful »

Were only at this location one evening, wish it was more. A good Value, beautiful River views and patio with rockers and table/chairs overlooking river. Request a river view room. In room amenities are good, larger size fridge, microwave. Indoor pool with hot tub a plus. Close to lots of activities and the Smokey Mountains. Didn't use, but outdoor grill available. Breakfast was included. Not gourmet, but quick and convenient.

    « Great Stay »

What a nice stay! We had a river view room with a hot tub. Room was fantastic, spacious, and very clean. Bed was comfortable, coulda stood another pillow but I slept well. Hot tub was nice and clean. Breakfast is extremely ordinary. Pretty good but boring. Typical hotel breakfast these days. Definitely will stay again and I recommend this place. Jackson at the front desk merits special mention. He was helpful, friendly, and very inviting!

« Bad start, but ended great! »

My visit was for a state conference. As a state employee, the hotel was booked with the school's credit card. At 7:30pm that night, while I was still 1.5 hrs away, I was informed that they would not honor the school's card, unless I had it on me. When I arrived, they were telling 4 other teacher's the same thing. In the end, I had to pay for the hotel with my on card. (Thank God, they took that, and did not cancel my reservation, as they had originally threatened to do!) To make matters worse, I had asked for a 2nd or 3rd floor reservation, since I was traveling alone, and they ended up booking me on the 1st floor, by the back door! (Now, these rooms had double doors with windows that extended the entire width of the room, because of the beautiful view of the scenic running river behind the hotel... Did I mention that I am female and I was traveling alone?) The room had a beer can and some beef jerky wrappers in the trash can beside the table, closest to the door. Now, that was the "bad start". The service I received after that was great! The view was fantastic! The continental breakfast had things for everyone; I can state this, because I cannot eat sugar, and most places only have muffins or doughnuts that I cannot eat. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed the visit, which is why I am still giving it 4 stars, despite the awful first night.

    « Great view »

We love to sit out on our room's balcony and watch the river and listen to the sound of the rapids. This is a pleasure year round. We have been here every season and just love it. Found some great restaurants in Sylva.

    4
    « Peaceful surroundings »

The backyard of the hotel is very peaceful. Even if you don't book the room with the view there are nice spots by the river to enjoy the view. The rooms are average but clean. The staff was very attentive. Few good restaurants nearby. I would recommend and would stay again.

    « Never Mind Reservations »

Visited the area June 17 - 19 and made my reservations on April 19. Reserved double queen accessible room on the river front. What we ended up with was a room on the non river front side. Also because they don't have tub accessible rooms at this hotel we had to go with a regular room, but even if we had gone with the accessible room it would not have been on the river front. Was told that we could have had a river front room the 1st night but would have to change rooms the next night to a non river front room because someone had made a reservation that week for river front room for our 2nd night! Why not let us stay both nights in the river front room since we had reservations for 2 months and tell the person that just made their reservation no river front rooms was available. Hotel was dirty in the halls and the bathroom shower bar was falling down and the towel hook was falling down too! Have stayed here before, but probably won't stay there again.

This hotel is very clean, staff is friendly. Great experience! The river side views are very nice. Would stay here again for certain. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Dillsboro Sylva, NC area.

« Awesome Hotel but Make Sure Fire Alarm System is Working »

All staff were very courteous and responsive, hotel is beautiful and a great deal for the cost, & a terrific location. My fire alarm went off late at night with no apparent cause or some malfunction and did not alert the front desk and was not connected to any other system in the hotel. I would expect that they would look into it and fix that ASAP.

    « Great hotel »

Easy location, great river view! Clean and comfortable hotel, pool and patio. I stay at this location when visiting relatives in the area. The balcony rooms overlooking the river are a great option! The complimentary breakfast has everything you would expect, waffles, toast options, cereal, yogurt, eggs, bacon, etc. Will be back again.

    5
    « Peaceful »

This Hotel along the river was so very peaceful. I had a very bad day and when I got to the hotel staff was wonderful. Very Accommodating. Cookies where there for a treat!! I unloaded my luggage and went out to the porch that looked out over the river--which had rocking chairs. I was able to sit out there and just unwind enjoying the tranquility of the river and hotel.

    5
    « pleasant and relaxing »

This is a pleasant and relaxing hotel situated on the river just off the main highway, The staff are very professional. The Breakfast is excellent plentiful choice of dishes well presented and well stocked. The hotel is quiet and peaceful and the balcony over looking the river is a must. The beds are comfortable.

« Nicest Best Western I have Stayed in »

I try to stay at Best Westerns to earn frequent stay points, so I searched for any near Cherokee and lucked into this one in Dillsboro. The recent remodeling includes carpet, premium tile, paint, and furnishings. The breakfast area includes a huge outdoor deck over the river. The indoor pool, hot tub, and fire pit picnic areas are beautiful too. Quiet and relaxing retreat

« Great hotel with river view »

Easilty the best 3 star style hotel I have ever stayed at. Recently renovated and looks new inside and out. River views are awesome and completely relaxing. Includes free breakfast and hot coffee always ready. The indoor pool and whirlpool are in excellent condition. A great stay.

« Great stay at River Escape »

Get a room overlooking the river, nice view and very peaceful. We spent 3 nights there and had a great time. Breakfast was decent and the coffee was good. The room was very clean and your typical two queen bed layout. Room had a fridge. micro and coffee pot (one weak cup at a time, much better downstairs in the breakfast area).

« Never want to leave!!! »

Every year, before Memorial Day, we stay at this Best Western. It is the best place to de-stress and get away from the world. Just to sit on the balcony, watch the river flow past, hear the birds singing and watch ducks and geese waddle past. Hotel renovated and breakfast area is awesome. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our very "favorite" place to stay for relaxation, peace and quiet.

« Your Mountain Vacation Experience Begins Here »

We have had the pleasure of including the Best Western PLUS River Escape Inn & Suites in our travel plans each year we visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Vick Patel and his exceptional team take great care of their guests and continues to add value added features to the property each year. This property recently added a Business Center area, a Retail area near the front desk to purchase Drinks and Snacks, updated their Lobby and expanded their outdoor walkway complete with several Fire Pits. Their rooms have been upgrades to modern amenities and have a mini-fridge in the rooms. I highly recommend a balcony room which has several chairs to enjoy the Rafters and Fly Fishing activity on the Tuckaseegee River. After a long day of adventuring out, it is always refreshing to hear the sounds of the river while reflecting on the day. These are private balcony rooms with a great view! If you choose to stay in a parking lot view room, you always have the option of visiting the outdoor deck at the back of the properly to pull up a chair and enjoy the river. For Rail Enthusiasts, The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Yard and Shop in Dillsboro is right next to the entrance to the hotel. The Railroad's Tuckaseegee River Excursion Train will pass right by the front of the hotel during it's voyage which is a great photo opportunity. This property is just a few minutes away from Downtown Dillsboro with a great selection of shops and restaurants and right off the 23/74 Highway. If you have plans to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cherokee or Bryson City, all of these destinations are close by and easy to get to. For a hot breakfast, easy to access quiet hotel, riverfront views and exceptional service, there is no other place to look.

« The peaceful beauty of Western North carolina »

This is our favorite Best Western and one of our top two favorite motels overall, with this being our 3rd visit. This was our first visit since renovation has been completed and it is beautiful, but from our first stay during their remodeling we have thoroughly enjoyed this motel. We have always had a river-view room as that adds to the peacefulness and enjoyment of the stay. Normally I wouldn't pay the premium price for a holiday stay (in this case, Memorial day weekend) as I did this time, but the River Escape is well worth it! Their complimentary breakfast has always been inviting and delicious and they have enough caring staff to treat the guests like favored children coming home! NOTE : Unlike the trend I have noticed among the BW brand, this motel does NOT serve machine dispensed (glorified instant) coffee, but flavorful fresh brewed.

« up set over the room with out walk in shower »

The hotel was very excellent but the clerk Susan mislead me the room, because I did get the room with walk in shower and my wife had very hard time getting her foots over the tub because of the problems she have with her foots.

« 1st class al the way except the hot breakfast »

I highly recommend this location. Rooms are wonderful, service is great, and location perfect. The river view rooms are beautiful. This hotel is located at the heart of the Smokey Mountains. You can access Asheville, Bryson City, Dillsboro, and Cherokee within 15 to 20 minutes. Plan on getting breakfast at a different location because the hot breakfast is all powder.

« Great place to stay »

Everything about my stay was fantastic...would not stay anywhere else but this location.Rooms very comfortable and staff friendly. Had a river front room and was such a relaxing stay.Plenty of outdoor seating areas to relax by the river.

« Nice hotel in a quiet area »

We stayed in this hotel on a recent trip to visit family in the area. The hotel is standard, looks recently renovated and has a free breakfast. All were great for this family of four. The breakfast had standard fare - cereal, toast, eggs, waffles and pancakes, yogurt and coffee. On nice days, you can even sit out on the deck and enjoy your breakfast alongside the river. My kids enjoyed the small indoor pool. The location was quiet, just set back far enough from the main road, but easily accessible to the highway. Dillsboro is just on the other side of the highway, and Sylva is just past there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return again.

    5
    « Awesome Experience »

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are gorgeous. wonderful view of the River if you had the balcony. Full Breakfast and you can eat outside overlooking the river. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. Will definitely stay here next time I'm in the area.

    « River view »

This Best Western has a great view of the river; leave your window open so you can hear rushing by! Clean, friendly, decent breakfast and recently updated bathrooms. We were granted an extended check out time since our daughter's graduation was later in the afternoon.

« Nice hotel, good location, nice breakfast »

Nice hotel. Great river views. Nice breakfast. Pretty pricey for one night at over $200.00. Family was in to celebrate daughter's graduation from PT school and the Best Western was the closet to our daughter's residence. So it was very convenient but due to it being graduation weekend the price of the room was high. Overall, it was a great weekend and convenient so I guess the price of the room was worth it.

« Best Place to Stay in Western NC »

My wife and I have been staying at the Best Western River Escape in Dillsboro about twice a year for over 10 years. It is our favorite place in the mountains offering quality service and an outstanding view of the Tuckaseegee river. There are a number of hotels in the area but this is the BEST!

    4
    « River Restorative »

Mountain hideaways can be a funny thing: One second you're on a busy road, or next to something industrial ... then suddenly, you've come upon a little piece of <<wow>>! That's the River Escape Inn, sidled up to a lovely stretch of the Tuckaseegee River. We've stayed here many times while we had a student down the road at Western Carolina University. The motel is a nice Best Western, updated pretty recently. Breakfast included. Indoor pool and spa. Friendly staff. The reason to be here though is the riverfront. A large deck with rocking chairs puts you right beside the riffling water. Mornings and late afternoons are prime for watching ducks, geese, heron and other birds plying the pools for fish. Stay on the river side, leave the screen window open and fall asleep to the rush of the river. Nice places to sit, wade and fish along the banks, too.

    4
    « Awesome Stay! »

I am usually not a Best Western fan, but our recent trip was absolutely outstanding. The front desk clerks were wonderful and absolutely accommodating with an easy check-in after 10pm after a drive from Georgia, despite the hotel being close to sold out. The morning breakfast was pretty good and we ate outside on the deck overlooking the river. My little 5 year old loved the view. The chocolate candy was a hit. We had friends staying at the local Holiday Inn shocked at how nice this property is and we really look forward to coming back.

    5
« Great place. Just next to river. »

Located just off main road next to the river. Very quite place with friendly staff. Ideal location for great smoky trip. We stayed for two nights. Breakfast was plentiful and as you would expect. Very clean rooms and nice balcony over looking river. Dillsboro is nice but not much going on.

    5
    « Enjoyable visit »

It was graduation weekend and everyplace was booked full. We got lucky to find a room at the Best Western after a cancellation. It cost a little more than we wanted to spend, but it was one of the busiest weekends of the year and I guess it was to be expected. We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the hotel is. The view of the river is AMAZING. The breakfast staff handled the full house with ease. Franklin not only booked our reservation but greeted us with a smile at check in. Overall, a great experience.

« Wonderful hotel nice ?elcome »

This is a lovely clean and relaxing stop over hotel we had a great stay over. The hotel does not have a restaurant but recommended an excellent eating place only minutes away which was great. Lovely views from the terrace and we really loved the location. Excellent breakfast provided. Would highly recommend it. We are non smokers and found that smokers were well away from the entrances Which meant we never were impacted by it.

    3
    « smoking not allowed »

like the location... loved to hear the sound of the river. Allowing smoking on the balcony is not a good idea. Will not stay there again unless I can make sure that the room below is not going to smoke. When door was open it filled our room with smoke.

« Rexlaxing on the River »

Best Western Plus in Dillsboro, NC is an outstanding Hotel. The River was so beautiful and the ducks were lovely. The suite was outstanding. Everything was perfect and enjoyable. The Breakfast area was outstanding. Loved the pancakes and waffles machines. Breakfast was outstanding, eggs, biscuits, and gravy, sausage, bacon, grits, oatmeal, all kind of cereals, orange juice, coffee, tea, milk. Just about everything anyone could ask for. A+ I highly Recommend Best Western Plus at Dillsboro, NC. Go enjoy and you will return to this lovely place and the lovely people who work there.

    « Serene setting »

We only stayed one night but had a very pleasant stay. The room was recently updated and very comfortable. The river front balcony with the beautiful view was an added plus and very peaceful. Dillsboro and Sylva are very quaint and beautiful towns with good restaurants and shopping. If you love the mountains, you will enjoy this area of North Carolina.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

The hotel was inexpensive, had a great free breakfast, had great views of the river, and a nice indoor pool. The hot tub was out of order, but other than that no complaints. I'll be staying here again in the future!

    4
« Remodeled nicely but lacking »

This remodeled motel was very comfortable and is a favorite of ours. My wife was unable to shower because of lack of safety bars. Breakfast bar was disappointing in that food ran out and no one seemed to be available to replenish food. We still like this motel but was disappointed at lack of attention to breakfast area and lack of safety bar in bath. I guess I should have asked for a handicap room but lack of safety bar could cause anyone to slip and hurt themselves.

    5
« Terrific in every way! »

As a grandma travelling alone with three young children, I really appreciated the attentiveness of the hotel staff. The young man at the front desk was terrific and offered a room close to the pool for the kids. Staff were very pleasant. The entire facility was spotless and sparkling clean. My 10 year old even made comments about how nice the hotel was. We arrived about 3:30 p.m. and the kids headed straight to the pool. We even noticed other guests cooking out on grills in the hotel patio area. There was a fire pit, although we didn't use it. Hotel is right on the river. I loved the relaxed and peaceful location. The kids loved the pool, river, ducks and the family of geese with five babies. The hot breakfast was good. I think everyone woke up at the same time so there was a crowd and we had to wait for more food to be prepared. But it was excellent. There is a deck with patio tables and rocking chairs overlooking the river - right outside the breakfast area, so you can take you food outside if you like. I enjoyed sitting out there with a cup of coffee early in the morning while the kids were still asleep. I wish we could have stayed longer. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel and the staff.

« Very pleasant with one hitch »

Great stay in great location. Surprised with a hot tub in room. Prepaid through .com site, and extended our stay. That's when we encountered the hitch which became very frustrating and involved several conversations with front desk.

    « Very good place »

Very nice place for overnight stay. Request a room on the river side of inn. The balconies outside room, overlooking river, are a special treat. Nice indoor pool. Good breakfast. Excellent staff. This was our second stay at this property and found it to be an excellent value both times. Rooms are as nice as Grove Park Inn in Asheville, but much more economical.

    « quaint mountain retreat »

Stumbled upon this Best Western and what a place!!It had been recently renovated and what a great job they did.The lobby is is chic for a best western and loved the piped in music. The drawing card for this location is the priceless view of the river behind. There is an amazing deck complete with rockers to enjoy the tranquility of this if you don't want to pay a high price for a private balcony. The breakfast was the usual and the beds are comfy and room was clean. The guy at the desk was very nice and the location is very close to a quaint downtown to go eat and shop some.

« nice lobby renovations, same old towels »

Jacuzzi tubs have been removed from rooms during renovations. Did not have a functional hot tub. This was an issue since we requested the jacuzzi tubs during group reservation. Towels are thin and rough, but there were plenty of them in the room which was a surprise. Love that this hotel offers face wipes for make up removal in rooms. Breakfast is ok, it is a hot breakfast, but lots of premade items instead of fresh foods that were not good. No fruit offered at all. Beds slept really well, this was an upgrade from last time we stayed there that occurred during renovation. The view is amazing, and so relaxing to sit on the deck and watch/listen to the river that runs behind the hotel.

« The Best has gotten BETTER!!! »

    « Clean,quiet and a bit elegant. »

Recently well-remodeled hotel. Excellent reception at desk and f/u service. Exceptionally helpful, friendly and outgoing - especially Taquich (sp?). Manager went out of her way - by far - to accommadate special swimming request. Very nice room and convenient to the Smokies. 2nd entrance sign covered by bushes and the place is a bit hidden but well worth effort. Housekeeping better than average.

    « Peaceful & Relaxing »

The hotel is located along side the Tuckasegee River. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed is very comfortable. We had a 3rd floor riverside room. The view and the river sounds from light white water rushing over the rocks create a tranquil setting (especially in the early morning as the sun is rising, and evening as the sun is setting).

This a beautiful location and all the employees were very friendly with great senses of humor. Loved the riverfront room and relaxing in the hot tub. Walking DISTANCE to Dillsboro and its cute shops, but not very conducive to walking (sidewalks, etc.) Decent walk into Sylva, too.

This hotel is AWESOME!! The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made sure that we had everything we needing to enjoy our stay. The views from the hotel are magnificent!! The river flowing beside the hotel was so soothing. I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know.

« Enjoy the River and the Breakfast! »

My husband and I stayed the weekend here and fell in love with the area. We were there to see the Pride of the Mountains marching band at WCU. This hotel was very convenient to WCU as well as Cherokee, casinos and large flea markets. The beautiful river was very enjoyable and the hotel had nice patios and sitting areas. We relaxed on the balcony watching the ducks and canoes. Breakfast was great - the works! Dillsboro and Sylva had great little downtowns suited for foot travelers. We will definitely stay here on out next trip to WCU.

    « WNC can't beat this place »

Honestly I'd prefer to keep this place as my own little secret. It's another jewel in the mountains of WNC. The breakfast was even better than most hotel breakfasts! And the view of the river just cannot be beat. Also, there was a clean indoor pool with a jacuzzi. SO GOOD!

    « Very Cool Location »

This hotel "ROCKS!" We (my wife and I) needed a nice hotel near both Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway. SCORE, this hotel is all about the Stream (Tuckasegee River) that flows right beside this hotel. Beautiful setting! While you are here try Speedy's Pizza in nearby Slyva (get the wings too / GREAT flavor). Best Wishes!

« Overnight Trip to WCU »

I just have two specific things I want to say... 1) after being on the road all morning, we were able to get our room at noon in time to clean up a little before afternoon meeting at Western Carolina -- huge plus! 2) the morning staff could turn up the heat on the breakfast items. Good variety, but all of the "hot" food & coffee was, at best, luke-warm -- disappointing. Beyond those two points, everything else was very good to excellent! Staff assistance, location, room quality, pricing -- wonderful, and we will be staying here again over the next four years!

    « served it's purpose »

Above average Best Western. We were looking for a one night stay to break up a long trip. Front desk personnel was extremely helpful with local restaurants. Rooms and baths were very clean and the breakfast was impressive. However the night we stayed there was a cold night (22°), there was a crack in the balcony door seal which made the room "chilly". The in room safe did not work. We would have complained to management, but we only stayed one night. Would stay there again

River side room, super staff, clean room a solid breakfast! Very pleasant stay, you (too) will enjoy this place. Next time we visit, we will stay here again!

We look forward to coming back. We absolutely love the people. area and everything about this Best Western!!! The rooms are very roomy. The only complaint we had was water pressure in shower. We have stayed here several times and have only experienced no water pressure once. Cant wait to come back.

The suite I visited in the Best Western of Dillsboro NC was absolutely spotless. Our stay was well provisioned and all the room had obviously been cleaned and provisioned with thoughtful care. The staff members are professional and courteous. We enjoyed our stay and would refer our friends to this motel without hesitation.

    « False advertising »

Booked because it's close to WCU, more expensive and farther out but thought the river would be nice and give my son and I a beautiful view to wake up to. I booked a suite to give us a little privacy. Suite just means bigger room to Best Western, no bedroom. I asked for river view, was told it 20 bucks more but the site didn't give options for a river view verses no river so the assumption was they were all river. I was told it's because I booked through a third party site. My advice, Stay at the Microtel instead.

« New Years Eve Visit »

This is the Greatest Best Western I have ever stayed at. We stayed in Pigeon Forge and decided to stay longer to bring in the New Year with all the hotels booked we were amazed that we found this diamond in the rough and I mean Diamond the place is fabulous and sets right along the river with an amazing view but most of all there staff "especially Katie" is outstanding they really know how to make a family feel welcome! I would recommend it to anyone and they have made it a place I would definitely go back to ! Thank You Katie and sorry I don't remember the gentlemens name that worked night shift and all the other staff for making it a Great Stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel, beautiful setting, good value. Nice pool, breakfast is on the better side of typical. Pay a little extra for a balcony overlooking the river. Worth every penny.

« Best night sleep in a long time »

The place to stay when you are in the Dillsboro, Sylva, or Bryson City area. The hotel is right on the Tuckasgee River. If you are lucky and get a riverside room you can open the door or window to your private deck and listen to the river while you sleep. Very clean, spacious and nicely appointed rooms. Would love to go back anytime of the year. Make sure you explore down the road across the river from the hotel to see the train wreck scene from the movie The Fugitive.

« Nice Clean Hotel, Great location! »

We came in for an overnight stay to ride the Polar Express in Bryson City! Dillsboro is great area, close to everything, about 12 miles to Bryson City-nice drive. Staff was very helpful, rooms were clean, sits on river which was so nice! Breakfast was wonderful! Great Stay! Highly recommend!

« Excellent service and amazing views! »

We came here on a whim and are so glad we did! This hotel has fantastic customer service, everything is sparkling clean and you get to sleep to the sound of the river! Definitely upgrade to the balcony with river view!!!!! I stayed in room 315 and it has a garden jacuzzi tub-- definitely a plus on my anniversary!

    « Holiday Couples Getaway »

We thoroughly enjoyed the River View room! What a wonderful getaway! Very private and romantic with the river flowing outside the balcony. The room was spacious and comfortable. Extremely comfortable beds and the complimentary breakfast was enjoyable too. The views from the window and balcony included the river and the surrounding mountains. Very picturesque! We just booked another stay at this hidden gem. I would highly recommend it.

« Elf on the Shelf »

This hotel was Awesome! My family and I stayed here while riding the Polr Express (very disappointment in the Polar Express). The hotel was the highlight of our trip. We wish we would have just spent more time at the hotel and skipped the Polar Express. Everyone at the hotel was nice and the hotel was clean and our money was well spent here. Breakfast was really good also. The best part about the hotel was that they have their very own Elf on the Shelf. Any hotel that has an Elf on the Shelf is tops in my book. We loved waking up in the morning and looking to see what the elf had done. Thank you for this experience.

« Amazing service with amazing views! »

I don't know that I could place enough emphasis on the great care the staff takes to make you feel comfortable and your stay enjoyable. From the front desk staff to housekeeping staff, everyone there makes sure your room is pristine and to your liking. A recent remodel added to the charm of this riverside escape and the breakfast that is included with your stay is second to none, a full hot breakfast is a rare find in today's hotel world. I will absolutely be back to this jewel in the mountains. Go Cats!

    « Enjoyable »

The place was very nice and decorated beautiful. Free WIFI for customers staying, pool, beds slept great and the rooms were clean! I recommend to double check behind yourself when leaving because i left something and called a few hours after leaving and got the run around. was told I would get a call back the next day and that was 4 days ago!! I've yet to hear anything! For the price I paid for the room, the least they could do is mail me my belongings on my Dollar!

« Great place to stay »

This is a beautiful hotel. The staff here is friendly and helpful. We needed directions. Front desk clerk found what we needed on Google. She printed them off for us and made sure we knew where we were going. Behind the hotel, there is a river. We have fun just watching the water. On the side of the hotel there is a fire pit . On summer evenings you could also grill out, there are BBQ grills outside. The deck overlooks the river. On the deck are chairs and umbrella covered tables.

« Best Hotel I stay at in North Carolina »

I was booked in a standard Queen Room but asked for an upgrade to go with my Status through Best Western and WOW!! Great room, great view, and great service. I was sad I could only stay one night. I could hear the river from my room which was really nice and I slept like a baby.

« Amazing Rooms and Views »

I highly recommend staying at this Best Western if you are going to ride the Great Smoky Mountains RR. The staff is really helpful and the views are amazing. I suggest you book early to get a river view room. Breakfast is a bust though if you enjoy eating sausage cause they never seem to have it out anymore. Other than that it's a wonderful place to stay.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

My wife and I were a little nervous driving to this hotel because of all the surrounding hotels that we had passed around the area. They weren't very nice looking. When we arrived at this hotel we were glad to see that the property and building were very nice. The staff was great and very helpful. The building seemed very new or freshly remodeled and our room was very clean and comfortable. The private balcony was nice with a great view of the rushing river.

« Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & suites Dillsboro, NC »

This is one of the best hotels that I have stayed at this year. The room was on the river side, and the view of the mountain and the river is fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and my room couldn't have been cleaner. The breakfast was very good, but I wish they would start including hard boiled eggs. The lobby, pool, and work out room were excellent, and wifi is great.

« Amazing Location and Experience! »

I was traveling to the Greater Asheville are for business and we ended up staying at Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites for close to 10 days. In my 10 days at this location I was given exceptional customer support by two people: Katie (who was new) and Erik (who was an amazing person). Rooms were really nice and VERY clean. I left my room in the morning in a complete mess and came back every evening to a perfect room, apart from my things which were exactly where I wanted them. Everyone was very thoughtful. One problem. The pool water was a little on the cold side, and the hot tub didn't work. They spent close to a week getting people there to fix it but there was a persistent problem. They assured me that this WILL be fixed for my next stay however. Average breakfast, but what can you really expect? The problem was that there weren't that many Vegetarian (eggless) options. Wifi was decent but got slow at night when everyone was online. Dryer and washing machine worked great. No complaints. Oh, did I mention that the location was AMAZING?

« Great locatation Friendly staff »

I considered other hotels in the area until I read the reviews. This hotel has recently been remodeled and is my preferred place to stay in Dillsboro, NC. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly. The river view was very scenic.

    « Wonderful, relaxing stay »

Even though we had only one night to stay, I have to say we were very impressed. We had another place reserved but decided to book here since the function we were attending was being held here. We were very pleased that we decided to make the change and stay here. We were able to check in early which was a very welcome thing for us since we needed to change before we attended the function. Both ladies at the front desk were very accommodating in getting us to the room early. The room was wonderful and the view from the balcony was fantastic. I am not sure if the rooms had been recently renovated or not, but everything looked to be new and was extremely clean. The entire hotel was clean and very well maintained. We didn't see one area that looked as if it had been neglected. We were extremely happy that we stayed and I know if we would ever need a hotel in the area we would certainly choose to stay here again!

Beds are comfy and cozy Full hot yummy breakfast! We will be back again and again! All seasons

« Great Out of the Way Stay »

This Best Western was very clean. The staff were all professional, courteous and knowledgeable. It was out of the way from things we wanted to walk to in town, but a nice location on the river. We would stay here again.

Best Western River Escape is named just as it is....an escape. The view of the river right outside the rooms is breathtaking and quiet. The Motel is nestled down a valley hidden from plan view of the small town across the way. A great place to come to , for relaxing, shopping, fishing, hiking or whatever your choice is..

« Wonderful balcony view of Tuskaseegee River »

We selected a balcony river view room and were stunned by how lovely it was. The beauty of the river and the Dillsboro area in the fall is awe inspiring! According to the staff they had just completed a complete renovation. The decor and rooms are surprisingly urban but comfortable and inviting. Pluses include The buffet breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, grits, pastries, cereals, a pancake AND a waffle maker, coffee, juice. The plates are styrofoam and the cutlery plastic but that is expected. The food was very good but go early if you don't want to wait for kids etc in line. The staff who are very friendly and helpful. The river view room we had a a very comfortable king sized bed and a sitting area. It had a huge flat screen TV, coffee maker, good sized mini fridge.Everything was new and clean. We didn't take our suits but there is a pool, hot tub, exercise room and a lovely boardwalk and picnic area by the river. Minuses: fall weekends just cost more, this place was worth is but use a service like expedia to check out rates. We called the day before to see if they had any room and our rate was dropped about $40 when we mentioned the online price. Fun Fact: you can walk about a quarter mile down the railroad track to go to Dillsboro. We enjoyed the walk!

« Great Hotel On The river »

This was our second stay at this hotel. I can recommend it highly. It is exceptionally clean in all areas. It serves a good breakfast that is included with the price of the room. The dining area is located on the river view side of the hotel and the view is great. Our room had a view of the river and a balcony that made us feel like we sitting out over the river. The beds are very comfortable and as I have already noted the room was exceptionally clean. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to help us locate the places we wanted to visit. If you want a room with a view of the river you pay a little more but it is well worth the extra money. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet area along the river. I would recommend booking with the hotel directly using their local number. They can give specific directions from the main highway because the local sign regulations require small signs that are easy to miss. Our GPS tried to send us in the opposite direction and that was frustrating for two weary travelers after dark. The person working the desk was an angel and guided us in by phone. It really is just a short distance from the main highway.

« Excellent Home Base for several days in the mountains. »

Hotel is freshly renovated, rooms like brand new, clean, well decorated and comfortable. Right on the river! Many rooms with patios or balconies within feet of the rippling water. Very relaxing. Near the scenic tourist railroad which may roll by a couple of times a day during summer months, not a disruption. Downtown Dillsboro is half a mile away. Quaint shops and cafes. Also a stop on the tourist railroad. Close to everything in that part of the mountains. 20 minutes from Cherokee, casinos and Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway and Western Carolina University. Not much farther to Bryson City, Nanatahala Gorge, etc. I was very pleased with the clean modern rooms and will come back.

« Nice location, better staff »

Nice location on the back side (river), front side railroad, but never heard a train. People that work there helpful and pleasant. Recently updated and I thought it was fine before. Only negative some fitness equipment could use some attention.

« Awesome Location on River »

Our favorite place to stop on the way to Gatlinburg through North Carolina! The main attraction is the location on the river and the patio overlooking the river with rocking chairs! The rooms are nice size and are clean, and the beds are very comfy!!! One of my favorite things is the fact that the rooms have a screened window allowing you to turn the air/heat off on cool nights, open the window, and listen to the water running over the rocks in the river! Awesome sleeping conditions!

    « Poor Customer Service »

This has been one of mine and my husbands favorite get away spots. I made reservations for the weekend of Sept 28th, Mountain Heritage Day. I had to call several days later to cancel the reservation because my Mother in Law fell and broke her hip. The woman that took my cancellation was very pleasant and asked why, I explained the situation and she informed me that it was all taken care of. I didn't get any conformation and didn't really think anything about it. When I got my credit card statement I saw that I had been charged for the room. I thought I was a hold charge because it wasn't 9-28 yet. I called and was informed I had been a no show. I have called several times and asked to speak to the manager, I'm always told that he isn't there. I have never received a call back. I have been very disappointed with the way this entire situation has been handled. Customer Service and retention is not the top priority for this establishment.

« Enjoyed stay but phone problem never addressed »

This was our second stay at the BW River Escape. The first stay was perfect. This stay was nice but there were problems. The rooms and baths are immaculate. Staff is friendly, but not so helpful on this second stay. The phone in our room did not work and it was never fixed and no apology given, no reason given, no offer of a discount. The different shifts do not communicate with each other regarding problems. The first person we reported the phone problem to promised to have a night manager knock on our door for our wake up call the next morning because the phone was broken but this did not happen and the following shifts knew nothing of the failed wake up call or the the repeatedly reported broken phone. On check out, we reported the broken phone again to the first woman we originally had reported it to and she did not remember us, the broken phone, or that she had promised to get a night manager to knock on our door for a wake-up call. We will give this hotel another chance because of our first great experience, the location over the looking the river, and the cleanliness of the rooms. Hopefully the phone will be fixed by then.

« Hotel with great view of river!! »

Get a room with a view!! Nice clean hotel. Small so doesn't feel crowded. Clean indoor pool, fire pit and ok breakfast bar with some hot items. Town has lots of shops and restaurants. Short easy drive to Great Smokey Mt Railroad and Cherokee.

    « Strongly recommend... »

I stayed at this hotel with a business group. We had 10 rooms from Sunday to Friday. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are clean and comfortable. The staff is professional, courteous, and friendly. Breakfast choices include pancakes, waffles, cereal, muffins and breads, apples and oranges, and beverages. Nice indoor pool (about 35 feet long), although the jets in the hot tub are very weak. There is also a large patio/porch complete with tables, chairs, and rocking chairs, that has a beautiful view of a fast-moving stream.

    5
« You MUST stay here »

We didn't have a reservation but got tired (road trip) and saw the Best Western billboard so decided to stay here. I can not recommend this hotel enough. Such friendly and helpful staff, clean, breakfast and a front row seat on the river. Inside seating that looks out on the river if it is raining/cold. Rocking chairs or table and chairs, on a huge balcony, if you want to be outside. It was perfect. We will be back.

« Great remodeling going on »

This hotel is just off the highway 23 with room and porch views of the Tuckasegee River. We've visited about once a year for 4 or so years. The draw is the view from the back porch with rocking chairs where you can just sit and relax but take heed, the sun can get hot on you. On our latest trip, Sept 2015, we were pleasantly surprised by the remodeling that was going on. The rooms have been updated and carpets have been replaced. They were bringing in new coolers for the newly added snack rooms. The wall a/c & heat units are still there, don't know what will be done with that. There were some minor inconveniences during our stay but no show stoppers. I love what they have done. From your room or porch you can see kayakers (some classes), fishing, ducks etc. Ample parking. Short drive to many attractions.

    « Great Find! »

What a great find! We needed to find a place for a one-night stay in-between others and the Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites came up as an option. While some of the reviews mentioned remodeling, we had absolutely no problems at all. The staff was great, the room, outstanding and the view WOW! Even though it was raining on the day we left it was still a gorgeous view of the river off of our balcony. Would highly recommend the facility and we will be back again, when we have longer to stay!

    5
« Very nice place to stay »

We were referred to this hotel by a friend. So glad we were able to get a reservation for the 3 nights we were there. Even though it was a rainy weekend, the view from our riverfront balcony made the dreary days well worth it! The breakfast buffet is relatively standard, nothing takes it over the top, but was nice to grab a bite to eat before we left to check out the local historic small towns. Close to WCU, we were there for parents weekend and is a short distance from the university. We'll probably be staying there whenever we visit WCU and our son in the future.

« Everything has been renovated! »

This hotel and it's staff were wonderful! I was very impressed with all the renovations that had been done. Everywhere you looked, inside or outside, you could tell that major renovations had been performed recently. Landscaping, the deck, the pool and hot tub area, the rooms, and the common area's all looked great and freshly re-done. We had a 5 day stay with them and got to know some of the staff, Chad, Season, Holly, all were super nice people, great personalities, and went out of their way to help in any way they could. We chose a room on the 2nd floor all the way at the pool end and enjoyed our patio view of the river that runs along the back of the property. Very relaxing public back deck with the same views too. We also has great recommendations for eating in the little town of Dillsboro and the next town of Silva. Two very nice and quaint towns. You can't go wrong with the location of this Hotel either, route 441 is within a mile to take you north or south. We experienced one full rainy day and found the with the recommendation of the staff at the front desk, a cab company came from another town and picked us up and took us to Bryson City to enjoy the train ride their, all at a very fair cab fair. Again, the staff was absolutely pleasant to deal with.

    « Worth every penny! »

As always, the quality, comfort, attentiveness of the staff, cleanliness of the grounds and building were top of the line. We would never consider staying anywhere else than this Best Western when traveling to the Western part of North Carolina.

    « River Escape »

Again an excellent experience. We enjoyed our stay and the convenience of the location to Cherokee, Dillard, Townsend, and Pigeon Forge areas. Access to local areas was exactly what we wanted and had a great time.

This is our groups 2nd stay at this motel and we had around 60 people. Excellent staff. We hope to come back again next year. We had a couple's son bring them from Miami and one man came from California. Some stayed over for an extended stay to enjoy the area.
