    « Beautiful location »

Excellent three night stay at this three star hotel set in beautiful rolling Devon countryside about four miles outside Dartmouth. Our room was a decent size, clean and the bed very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast whilst not extensive was more than adequate and hot food quickly served and nicely cooked. The evening meal menu changes daily and has a good selection including locally caught fish, well cooked. We enjoyed a round of golf on the nine hole Dartmouth course but it was no pitch and putt but a shorter yet very challenging golf course. Recommended.

    « Anniversary werkend »

Brilliant food, spa and golf facilities. Shame about our room. There was a bad damp smell in the bathroom, so bad that the last morning i couldnt take a shower, even with the light on the room was too dark to see to dry my hair, the bedside light switch was too far from the bed to turn out once in bed and the screw for tying back the curtains fell out. The cutlery in the breakfast room was dirty and the new menu contained dinner choices which were not available when we attempted to order (we were not informed beforehand). All a real shame as the location was brilliant, the spa could not have been better and the golf course and staff were brill ...

« We are frequent visitors to Dartmouth and have had excellent service. »

The rooms are to a high standard. The staff at the restaurant are always helpful and courteous, although sometimes there is not enough staff. We have been several times to Dartmouth and the welcome has always been fine.

    « Wonderful break! »

We came for a 3 night stay for our wedding anniversary and were impressed as we arrived by the beautiful surroundings. The reception staff welcomed us and gave us room 306. It's a very comfortable room but smelt musty and damp. Reception immediately gave us a another room overlooking the putting green, which was fine. The bed was very comfortable, nice bed linen and towels, bathroom with toiletries. Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are excellent, lots of choice and the staff are delightful, so helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant for one night and the food was delicious with lots of choice. Bar snacks were good too. My husband had 2 rounds of golf and was impressed with the course. The location is very quiet and relaxing but close to many great places. We visited Totnes, Dartmouth, Coleton Fishacre as well as walking on the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

One of the best Spas I've been too, fantastic treatments and service. Nice clean place nothing was too much trouble. Look forward to visiting again soon. Thankyou to everyone and keep up the good work it's really appreciated.

« Stayed a couple of nights with my wife we were meeting friends elsewhere.Nice, comfortable bedroom with excellent staff. »

Just what we wanted with a very good breakfast and comfortable room. Wonderful views across the golf course and a health improving swimming pool and spa which we enjoyed. Where ever we went the staff were friendly and helpful.

    « Wonderful experience »

My daughter and I took a three day break (August 2016) at this wonderful hotel. Set in very picturesque surroundings, the facilities were fantastic, staff welcoming and efficient, excellent food, clean and comfortable and the spa facilities were super. We have stayed here a lot over the years and have very fond memories. It has been some years since we stayed here but I must say that we weren't disappointed. I would suggest reducing the age limit for children from 16 to 14 as I found that somewhat restrictive.

    « A Golfer's Dream »

This hotel and cottages are in a beautiful location with a fantastic golf course. We stayed as a family in one of the cottages. The cottages are very spacious having an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a family sized dishwasher and there is a washing machine in the inner hall storage area. The 3 double bedroom are all en-suite and have good storage facilities. Complimentary products are left in all the en-suites and all bedrooms have a hair dryer as standard. There is a small garden/patio area at the back of the property which has table/chairs and there is also seating area in the front of the property with a barbecue. The owners have thought of everything a family would need on a holiday even supplying tea towels and dish washer tablets. The restaurant is quite spacious but can get quite busy but that isn't surprising considering the menu. So it is advisable to book. We had a number of meals in the restaurant from the Sunday carvery to hanging kebabs and steak and I can say that none of the meals were disappointing. Generally the staff were very friendly but one or two were off hand. Unfortunately, on this visit we did have a few issues concerning our lodge when we arrived, with regard to cleanliness and the maintenance of the lounge and decking areas off the bedrooms but, they were generally dealt with in a professional and efficient way during the first few days of our stay, and we were given a complimentary meal by way of compensation. The only major issue that wasn't addressed was the hand rail on the steps leading to the lodge. The hand rail to the lodge was wobbly and as my husband is disabled he found it frightening getting up and down the steps as he is unsteady on his feet and relies heavily on a walking stick. Fortunately, there was always someone around to help him. Also, the swimming pool area unfortunately was a disappointment. Cleanliness and maintenance being the main issues and we only used the facility once because of this. Dead flies on the window sill, dirty windows and clumps of hair in the actual pool, that my grandson called seaweed, was enough to put us off. We have stayed in the same cottage for the last 2 years and last year we were very impressed by the facilities both on site and the surrounding areas therefore we re-booked but unfortunately due to problems experienced I doubt we will stay here again in the future. We were offered by way of compensation a couple of nights stay in the hotel but as it takes over 5 hour to get there on a good run it seemed such a long way to go and with the motorways being as they are at the moment it just didn't seem feasible. However, the location is an ideal place for visiting the surrounding areas like Dartmouth, Paignton, Brixham and Totnes but the added advantage to us was the Woodlands Theme Park which is very close by.

    « Amazing!! »

Best spa I've ever visited! I absolutely loved it, such nice people especially Nicole who did all my treatments she made my experience at the spa so much more enjoyable I will definitely be recommending to all my friends and family. :)

    « Very Good »

just a quick one. Stayed here with my wife and three kids. Good accommodation, great staff and the food was surprisingly very, very good considering its a Best western. No negatives. Told to add more detail by TA so take your golf clubs, looks alike a good course with Buggies and has a driving range which I introduced my youngest to. Had a SPa which i didn't use because we were out and about all the time.

« Sonia couldn't have been more helpful »

Went just for one night with 2 girlfriends and their daughters. My friends were already booked in and I left it too late, the hotel was full. I rang reservations and spoke to Sonia who was amazing, went way beyond the call of duty and somehow found my daughter and I a room! So thank you Sonia, you are a star. Hotel was pleasant, room was clean and pretty big. Breakfast tasty. Our only issue was the distance from Dartmouth. We booked a taxi with a girl on reception, came down at 7.30 to go for dinner in Dartmouth, only to be told no Dartmouth taxis were available. The girl on reception had forgotten to tell us and unfortunately omitted to apologise too. Had to hitch with 2 very kind gentlemen from the golf club who thankfully took pity on us!!

« Lovely hotel with very friendly staff, fantastic food and wonderful spa »

A great hotel with super facilities, such as the wonderful spa - swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Rooms are of a good size and very modern - beautiful views especially if the rooms overlooking the golf course. Food in the restaurant in the evening is excellent and very good value and the breakfasts are especially very good. The staff are very efficient and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. Golf courses are super and the location is perfect for visiting Dartmouth and surrounding area.

« Great hotel good value for money »

Stayed here for 3 nights in August and I can only say it was great. The friendly staff couldn't do enough for us and the rooms were clean and tidy and spacious. Only one problem was it was roasting at night and because the curtains are so thick they don't let any air in. Apart from that I can't complain. We were there for a sports competition and had to start early in the morning. Because of this we would have missed breakfast but the staff made sure we got something to eat which was great. We ate in the restaurant at night and the food was lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

« Lovely hotel and spa break »

Visited this hotel at the start if August with a friend for a hotel spa break. Having family in the area i know Devon quite well, however finding the hotel was a little bit difficult as the postcode in in the GPS sends you around in a circle, a quick call to the hotel got us on track and once we arrived we were able to find our bearings for venturing out. The stay was lovely, nice clean and spacious hotel room with coffee making facilities and biscuits which were replenished each day of the stay. on the first night we had dinner included in the booking, this was a nice meal, lovely tomato soup. Breakfast each morning was lovely and made to your choice which was lovely. Spa facilities, the team in here were friendly and very informative, the facilities themselves were good, we enjoyed the pool with the sense showers and the steam room, slightly disappointed as the sauna on both days we were there appeared to only heat to 50 degrees we did mention this to the team who reset the sauna however this did not improve the temperature so we made the most of the other facilities. Overall a really nice stay, would recommend to anyone who just wants to escape and not venture out too much as this a middle of no where location.

    « Great lodges »

Lovely holidays year after year in these well equipped lodges. Use of the club house and spa adds to the holiday . Food is very good and breakfast included. Lodges have everything you need and close to Dartmouth and Blackpool sands . Tennis court as well and golfers heaven

    « Wonderful Golf »

Excellent location, wonderful golf, great food and lovely helpful polite staff. Golf courses were in tip top condition great fun and challenging to play, my brother and I enjoyed every aspect of the course such as the bunkers, trees and bushes. Always use a buggy for the golf!

    « Spa day »

Our first visit here for a day spa, couldn't fault it. Facilities great, staff very polite and helpful & food was very delicious (especially pudding) only negative would be the one of the treatment ladies never spoke at all to one of my family so slightly more information would help. Over all I would highly recommend!

    « Friendly, comfortable hotel »

Enjoyed a lovely relaxed stay whilst attending son's passing out parade at BRNC in Dartmouth. Staff very helpful, lovely countryside setting with very relaxed atmosphere. Good facilities, clean and spacious rooms.

    1
« Spa Facilities Poorly Maintained with Unhelpful Staff »

The Spa was a disappointment due to it being poorly maintained with unfriendly staff who showed little interest in their clients. Only half of the showers were working, no liquid soap was provided in the showers which is very awkward when on holiday. The lockers were rusty in places and mostly did not lock - in fact I could only find one available at 08:00 am. On one morning the towel provided by staff was so dirty that I was unable to shower. There was a radiator that had been removed from the wall and not replaced leaving filthy marks and bare pipes for all to see. There was much paintwork that had flaked off the walls showing plaster-work and one of the switches was very badly corroded. Even the plant pots around the Jacuzzi had corroded and left rusty marks on the walls, and the plants were withered. The sauna was not up to temperature and the gym was very small and claustrophobic. I am afraid to say that the wonderful photographs were in no way a true picture of the actual experience.

    « Good location »

Enjoyed our recent 4 night stay at the Best Western Dartmouth. Excellent location for exploring the south Devon area. Breakfast and Spa were great and location of the rooms very quiet, so not disturbed. Free WiFi and free car-parking which is always a bonus and not always available with other hotel groups! Thanks to the team who looked after us.

    « Break in Dartmouth »

The hotel staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely and clean and everything we needed in the room for a nice comfortable stay. The hotel is not the most aesthetically pleasing but you have to see through that. There is too much emphasis on golf although I am sure the course is outstanding. A bike rack would have been useful to store our bikes.

    « Fantastic carvery »

Went on Sunday for the carvery all beautifully presented and cooked to perfection Usually on a carvery the meat is great and veg not good or vice versa Here it was great & very reasonably priced Served by the head chef rob aswell very friendly & knowledgable Would highly recommend

« Nearly something for everyone »

Spent 3 nights in hotel with grandchildren who were staying in adjoining cottage. Staff were very friendly, bar food good and plentiful. The hotel is clean and tidy but there are signs of the need for some maintenance, the shaver socket didn't work, the window didn't open fully - we were advised to open the en-suite window and leave the adjoining door open, Not sure we could have stayed in the room if it had been hot weather. The swimming pool is a fixed depth of 4'8" and was like stepping into a hot bath, it was too hot and not refreshing - they can turn down the temperature and save some money. There were many small children staying in the hotel but there are no facilities for them, maybe they could make use of one of their function rooms to create a small play area which would make it more attractive for those families.

« Very enjoyable Spa and Dine Session »

My daughter, granddaughter and I enjoyed a literally 'last-minute' booking here recently and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The jacuzzi and pool were both a little cooler than we had expected, but everything was very clean and it was not too crowded. Steam room and sauna both good. We enjoyed a light lunch up in the bar, but were a little non-plussed to be the only diners wearing robes, although the Spa receptionist told us we would not look out of place. However, we enjoyed lunch sitting in the conservatory area overlooking the course. Afterwards we each had a massage to relax us before driving home. My only comment would be, given the bar menu prices, that £7 per person is not sufficient for a single course plus a drink.

    « July in Devon »

Having a few days at my favourite stop in South Hams. Could only book three nights in one of the lovely Lodges. Great location in rolling Devon hills. Good for golf and local trips. Off to FBI tomorrow at Dittisham, then Hope Cove followed by Bigbury on Sea Beautiful.

    « Spa/golf break »

Spent 2 nights at this hotel on a golf/spa weekend with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All the staff were friendly and welcoming from the ladies on Reception, to the bar/restaurant staff and the girls in the Spa. A couple of small criticisms; we booked twin rooms (no doubles available) and the singles did seem on the small side (2'6" we thought rather than 3') and the duvets were extremely thick for summer so we were rather hot! Other than that we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

    5
« Great place to stay! »

We stayed here for 3 nights on a busy weekend in July. I am lucky, in that I get to stay in luxury hotels with my job, but can I just say, that this is a great place to stay. The staff are wonderful, so helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and airy. The golf course was pretty good too, shame about my game though! All in all we had a lovely time here. We will be back soon.

« Golf break with friends »

Great golf course and in good order and not to busy (a long walk so suggest a buggy) My wife enjoyed the spa and thought good ( not excellent)but good Hotel staff all young and keen and generally very good Rooms were normal rooms bed was very comfortable a bit warm but there was a heatwave this weekend ( Sunday / Monday ) The only problem was we couldn't get into rooms until 15.00 and check out 10.30 next day which for the non golfer meant a spa and pool and sit on balcony but couldn't freshen up However a great weekend

    « Can't fault this lovely hotel. »

Brilliant, did a couple of days here using 'wowcher'. Was a lot more than we expected. The hotel is lovely, the grounds are stunning. We were offered the chance to be taken around in a buggy by the ground staff to see it in all its glory. The courses are also open to non members and clubs are available for hire from the shop. The food was exceptional and the staff were really friendly and helpful. A short, easily drivable distance from some amazing coast and beaches with ample parking and facilities. All in all a really good experience which we will be repeating at the earliest opportunity!

    « Golfing hotel not a spa »

booked a deal on a spa retreat website and the pictures looked lovely a real spa hotel. when we arrived the drive down the hill to the hotel looked lovely with rolling hills and a beautiful golf course. unfortunately when we arrived at the hotel I was very disappointed. the hotel was very tired and dated, and with the carpark full meaning we had to park in an over spill carpark quite a distanceform the hotel. On check in the staff were very plesant and helpful and we were given all the usual information on the hotel. and the surrounding area. Our room was on the basement/ground floor making it very dark and again the rooms were in desperate need of a good overhaul - again not quite what we had in mind or an anniversary weekend. After settling in we ventured to the spa which again had lovely staff but not what I would call a spa.. A small pool with a hot tub, steam room and sauna but the facilities were not big enough for the day spa guests and hotel guest using it.making it very crowed and after 45min we left We had dinner booked int he hotel for the first night and I have to say to food was nice not much choice on the restaurant menu but you could choose from the bar menu if you were happy to pay a supplement which we did. The bar very quickly filled up with golf groups, around 4 or 5 groups of 5-10 people which got very roudy at times and not the relaxing spa weekend we thought we had booked. after more investigating we found the hotel did not have a separate club house and there fore the bar became the base for tournament groups meeting, prize givings and raffles with lots of tables and whitebaords crowding the hallways people blocking entraces to the spa and the bar areas . making it very noisy over crouded and not very relaxing place to be. so I'm afraid we have rturned not as relaxed and chilled out as we had planned - maybe we should have avoided a weekend?? if you are a golfer this looks a lovely course, if you are a hotel or spa guest I'm afraid you just feel in the way of the golfers

« Great lodges, expensive bar decent enough pool »

Stayed a couple of nights in a lodge and ameneties were excellent. Very decent space but in top room shower in the eaves meant couldn't get under it. In ldges beds are not made up or towels changed. Bar was a pretty poor menu and expensive breakfast rolls were pretty poor.

    « Excellent »

Stayed for one night whilst on business in Dartmouth. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Superb room with very comfortable bed. Bathroom excellent. Bar and restaurant facility very good and a hearty breakfast to set you on your way. Good value for money.

    « Very Helpful Management »

My wife and I booked late for the Dartmouth Hotel & Golf Spa and got the last available room. We checked in about 4pm and on going into our room we immediately noticed there was a loud and consistent humming noise coming from a plant room just outside the window. We both new that this would cause us a restless night and reluctantly decided to see if we could cancel our reservation and take pot luck on what else we could find in the area. The receptionist tried to help but confirmed there were no other rooms available for the three nights we had booked. She then had a word with the Duty Manager who could not have been more helpful or friendly. She offered to put us in the Bridal Suite for the first night and move us to another room for the remaining two. Both rooms proved to be excellent and very quite. Overall the hotel was first class, good quality selection at breakfast with cooked to order menu. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were very good and we both had a very enjoyable stay.

« some good so not so ,,,, »

Nice weekend retreat , if a little tired looking , some of the staff very good , some not so good , to the point of being aggressive with my wife and her friend in the spa !!! its not the clients fault that the spa is so dis organised with too many people booked with so few spaces and if you are offering treatments perhaps you should have a facility to be able to tell paying customers what they are and how much they cost instead of standing at the desk in the spa,and telling customers to go on the internet to find the required information !!!!,,,,,, the difference between spa and hotel makes me think they may be run by different companies ,,decent restaurant and good breakfast friendly staff ,,,for the golfers the course is looking great BUT £26 for a buggy !! £12 to £14 is the going rate in Dorset ,charging a battery must be more expensive in Devon

« Very Pleasant Spa Day »

Had a really pleasant experience at the spa and leisure facilities. It was a special reduction with Travel Zoo. It included a facial and massage with afternoon tea. We also enjoyed a really tasty Carvery. There is also a large golf complex here. I would not hesitate to come again.

    5
    « Disaster to amazing »

Booked 7 for a spa day through Groupon, rang, booked, sorted, or so I'd hoped. Arrived to blank looks from reception in spa. No booking! We had all travelled quite a way, rearranged work, home etc and were ready to chill. The spa staff were amazing, we were offered free access to the facilities, towels, steam room, pool, jacuzzi etc. Spoke to lovely Steve in the bar re ordering lunch and the chef agreed a special price for two course, which were amazing. Chicken pad Thai then trio of puds. I'm not a pud person but they were lovely. In the spa we were then approached one at a time to see if we would 'mind having a free treatment!! as they had a trainee in that day. We had a super day, wished we lived nearer as I would have joined (not the golf, sorry) and we still have our voucher to use on a future day.

    « Spa Day »

Booked a spa day through travel zoo, rang through to the hotel and booked the for 30th June. On the day we arrived at 12 noon the time our treatments were booked for unfortunately to reception had booked our day for the following Thursday so not the best start. Fortunately the staff here are very helpful and they moved things around to accommodate us, we booked our treatments for 3pm. We went and used the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room all decent facilities and wasn't to crowded maybe a bit more than we would have wished for but not an issue. Limited amount of loungers available. We had afternoon tea and that was lovely , full body massage was good, facilities fairly clean and today although there was some maintenance work going on in the corridor which was a bit off putting and probably should be left till after closing time. The gym was adequate we would return in the future

The room did what it said on the tin. Very comfy bed ( with sheets and blanket as I had requested) and lovely and quiet. Also very convenient location for our visit to Dartmouth. Would recommend to friends.

    « Delightful day »

A group of us went to the Spa but there was a mix up and they didn't have our booking and were fully booked for the day. However, they offered us free use of the facilities and the opportunity to come back another time. Then, amazingly, they produced two members of staff (one was on her day off!) and offered us a free treatment each. What a lovely thing to do, we had the most fabulous day and are really looking forward to our next visit. The food was superb too!

« Good, Better, Best Spa! »

I am a regular visitor of spa's in South West and I have visited The Dartmouth Spa on several occasions, but this time I must write this review as the last three months this spa is becoming one of the best in Devon! The staff is very professional and can't do enough for you, treatments are good value for money and I always feel very comfortable and looked after. The eye for detail of the spa manager is incredible and I am already planning to go back for another wonderful spa journey.

« Devons Green Rolling Hills »

We were a group of 9 who were staying for a week touring Devon and used The Dartmouth as our base. The staff made us all very welcome and couldn't have been any nicer. The rooms were a decent size, nice and clean, the breakfast was excellent. We had dinner a few nights which overall was very good. We used the pool and a few of us had delicious massages in the Spa. Overall I would definitely recommend this property however the one disappointment was that although surrounded by beautiful green hills there was no walking possible due to the danger of straying golf balls. And if you get to the main road (up a steep drive way) there are no pavements/sidewalks. Another positive note though, was as this is a golf hotel we found the other guests to be charming and friendly, certainly not the way 'normal' hotel guests are.

    4
    « nice stay »

Hotel very nice if you get a course view room ! We were put in a room facing the brick/grass bank at the back of the hotel the first night, hardly slept at all because of some kind of 'pump' noise going on and off all night. Complained to receptionist in morning and she got our luggage moved to the 100% better room number 204 facing the course, so much better and made our stay very pleasant. Breakfast very good, freshly cooked to order, set us up for the day !

    « Amazing staff »

There were a group of us staying here for a wedding. Service at 12.00, coach due to arrive at 11.10 to pick up ca 36 of us. 11.30 no coach, not enough time to get taxis - all stations alert reception staff ferrying us all down to the church. Brill guys - thank uou

    « Very enjoyable. »

Stayed for 2 nights with a group of golfing friends and could not fail to be impressed with the whole experience despite seriously bad weather. Rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast cooked to order. Nothing was too much trouble for the pleasant and attentive staff. A wide variety of choice on a dinner menu and served promptly to a group of 16, well done. The golf course was in good condition. It is a good test of golf and a stern test of stamina. Get a buggy if you are used to flattish courses. The hotel provides golf bag storage in lockers, very good. Very good leisure facilities are on offer to ease a few aching muscles. I would not hesitate to recommend the venue.

    4
« The lodges were just right »

6 golfers shared 2 lodges,so we each had an en suite bathroom for 6 nights. We stayed June last year and the lodges have not deteriorated at all during that time, which is a bonus. The are finished to a high standard. You can park adjacent to the lodges and can easily cart your golf gear around between car and lodge.

« golfing week with society »

this is my 2nd year at dartmouth and this year we hired 2 lodges and hotel rooms the lodges had 3 twin bed rooms with ensuites but one room only had a bath the lodge was well maintained with decent internet connection we had breakfast included but no dinner the staff at the dartmouth were very friendly and helpful as usual. the course was in good condition however everyone in our society agreed that last year it was in better condition in 4 days the holes were never changed on green so putting was not easy as ball kept hoping on marks bunkers were terrible but you shouldn't be going in them i would still love to visit dartmouth again however i think our society will be going somewhere else next year lodge 4.5/5 staff 5/5 food 4/5 course 4/5 greens 3/5

    « Incredibly Let Down »

I really do not like to post bad reviews, however, I feel that this incident is deserving. A group of friends and I had booked the £75 per person spa package, to celebrate finally completing university, and we were recommended to go to the Dartmouth Hotel. We called to book for bank holiday Monday. On the previous Saturday at 6pm we received an email saying that due to staff illness the booking was cancelled and we had to call to rearrange the date. I completely understand that staff illness cannot be helped, however the way this matter was dealt with was extremely disappointing, hence why I think future customers should be aware. Bearing in mind it's not our fault, we were then told to rearrange, although we had booked bank holiday Monday for obvious reasons. So we asked for any other available dates of that week to which we were told we would not be accommodated at the same time, and our package would not be fulfilled. This was very disappointing, but instead of hitting trip advisor straight away we thought we would call again and further explain in order to give the staff a chance to provide a solution. This never happened, hence this review. Instead we were told to come on Monday, where we would be given a complimentary cream tea and could use the facilities, then on Monday they would check if there had been any cancellations for that day or the week. At this point we thought this was fair, but certainly not worth £75 if we couldn't have the treatments included in the package. So we asked if we took up this offer whether we would have a refund and could this be confirmed in writing. The spa were unable to fully confirm our refund and therefore, we were not prepared to lose this amount of money. We would hate for someone to book to stay at this hotel for the purpose of the spa, and then be let down like this. This really ruined our celebrations and we had been looking forward to it for a while as we had booked far in advance. Quite frankly their solutions were not good enough and we will never be booking with them again. If you want a good spa and hotel, I would certainly recommend the Cornwall Hotel and Spa, which is a lot better than this.

« Good hotel, great views »

We stayed here for 5 days, not being golf players didn't matter. Great views across the course. The room was large comfortable, good selection of biscuits and bathroom toiletries. The staff were very helpful and accommodating . Food was of good quality and the portions were not small. The kitchen was very good at varying the contents of your order if something on the menu didn't take your fancy. The spa was clean, neat and well presented. Worth looking for deals, we found a deal on groupon. The moany bit, I have issues with showers over the bath. The bathroom was serviceable the shower screen was inadequate . It was fine for the wife who is a small lady I on the other hand am a 6' tall large ( fat male) , so when having a shower flooded the bathroom floor. Get rid of the bath and put in a decent sized shower cubicle . the outside of the building could do with a bit of tic. However the many bit will not stop us coming back.

    « A lovely stay »

Some of my family have just stayed for 5 lovely days in the cottages at the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. On arrival when booking them in the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. They all had breakfast every morning. The service, choice and quality were excellent.

    « Best Western - Great Break! »

The Leisure facilities were fantastic, as was the food. Stunning location, golf course was immaculate! Stand and service were outstanding - the only down fall was the slightly dated decor. Very minor detail in a fantastic 2 nights away!

« My secnd visit, and will return!! »

A stunning setting, a very smart hotel with excellent food and drink and wonderful views of the golf course and along the valley. I have stayed with my family twice now and will certainly go back again for a spa-break which was extremely good value. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional and I would recommend a visit even if you do not play golf.

    « Two night/three day golf break »

Hotel was excellent and the championship golf course was first class with lovely views and challenging holes. The choices for the other golf courses was good also. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food could not be faulted. All in all great value for money.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

We visit the the hotel at least twice a year and have never had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you, the golf course is fabulously kept and beautiful. The spa area is also a hidden gem since its refurb. We always enjoy meals in the clubhouse (my fav being the hanging kebabs) and breakfast is fresh and delicious. Thanks all for some brilliant holidays and memories. See you again soon

« Many thanks for a great Golf Break »

I booked a two day golf break at Dartmouth Golf and Country club for a 40th birthday treat after a recommendation from a friend of mine. Golf course is superb with great golf holes and lovely views. Food was fantastic and the staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble making for a lovely, relaxed stay in a beautiful location. Only one small gripe was the noise near our room window outside which was a drone all night, but nothing a pair of ear plugs didn't solve! The only other little issue was that although we had free wifi the speeds weren't great and it kept dropping out, could do basic internet and emails but wouldn't support wifi calling on your mobile, an issue when the mobile signal is so poor. I loved the golf course and wouldn't think twice about going again in the future. Big thanks to all the staff for making our stay so relaxed.

I was part of a 16 man group of golfers staying in the lodges. We had a great 3 days, the food & accomadation were great but the staff were just fantastc, couldn't be more friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

    « Great room! »

We stayed here on our last night of a motoring tour of the South West. The first impression to us as non-golfers is that it is very spacious: both the surroundings and rooms. In particular the bedroom was very generous and had a very good bath and shower. The food was good and staff were friendly and helpful.

    « A lovely weekend »

We had a beautiful hotel room that overlooked the golf course, and our friends had the room next door. The two men played golf - a very challenging course - and the two ladies enjoyed the spa and the amenities. We also explored the surrounding areas in the car - awesome! We had a wonderful couple of days 25/26 February, at a special price..... the breakfasts were great, and the beds the most comfortable .... all in all, a great time was had by all.

    « Golfing Break »

The Hotel and its facilities are pretty good I was part of an 8 man golfing trip this is I believe the 8-9th time we have stayed at this hotel. We found Nathan Claire and most all of the staff really helpful and made us all feel very part of this friendly hotel. You have to show and be friendly to get the best out of people , only one supervisor did not seem to either believe in this or was a naturally grumpy type of person. The food was good with plenty of choice and the rooms clean and tidy, some are being redecorated whilst we stayed here for the 3 nights. Golf course in good shape and a good challenge.

« 80th Birthday Treat for My Parents »

    « FANTASTIC »

This was our fourth visit and is even better now than 5 or 6 years ago when we last visited. Everything, apart from the weather ( and we have requested an improvement on this on our next visit) was excellent. The rooms, staff and golf course you couldn't ask for better. Ideal for exploring so many interesting places nearby. Would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to visit Dartmouth and nearby places.

« Dirty and bad food »

I went with my mother for a spa day and was very disappointed, the towels they gave us for the pool were brown (they were meant to be white). The pool is tiny and the water felt greasy. I had a massage and that was nice but I really didn't feel looked after, it was as if the therapist couldn't wait to go on her break! For lunch we only had a choice of 3 dishes and no choice at all for dessert which was absolutely revolting, it was stale like it had been left out for days also the restaurant staff seemed like they really didn't want to be there.

« One of The Best Stays at this Hotel »

!4 of us went on our annual golf trip for three days. We have been to this hotel five times before but would say this time was the best. Rooms are just what we want in the hotel, the food was the best it has been really enjoyed all the meals. The golf course was not in bad condition considering the weather they have had to cope with . The staff we friendly and reception were really helpful with booking etc. Over all good break

    « Beautiful location »

Third visit to this hotel and it will not be our last. Hotel is nestled in beautiful countryside with fantastic views at the front overlooking the two fabulous golf courses. We played on the nine hole course and it has the most glorious views from every angle at the top of the hill. The staff in the golf shop are very helpful and informative. There is also a good sized swimming pool, which children are allowed to use at certain times of the day, with Jacuzzi, a steam room and sauna. This is next to the spa which is very well kept and offers some lovely treatments. I can highly recommend the facials and Sophie my therapist was superb with a great technique. I could have drifted off to sleep during my facial. I also had a French manicure from Nicole who was very good. The restaurant and bar is very pleasant (also the 19th hole) and this also has glorious views from the conservatory area. Breakfast was consistently good throughout our stay and I can highly recommend the hanging kebab dishes. The staff were very polite attentive and courteous. Nice comfortable room, with tea and coffee making facilities, and biscuits. Not huge but well furnished and again, a lovely view from the window overlooking the golf course. (not all rooms overlook the golf course).

    « Family holiday »

We booked 4 lodges here to celebrate a family birthday over the bank holiday weekend and we had an amazing time! The lodges are large, luxurious and contain every conceivable thing you could possibly need. Our party ranged in age from a toddler right through to mid-eighties but everyone loved it there and much fun was had by all! The staff at the hotel, especially at reception, are so friendly and the hotel has high standards in cleanliness and customer care. I would like to thank everyone there for a wonderful time and we are looking forward to a return visit.

    « A mixed bag »

A great location hidden in a fold in the hills about 5 miles from Dartmouth. A comfortable and spacious room and ensuite with views over the valley and ponds. However there was a buildup of black mould around the window frame and curtains (not something that happens overnight) so a bit of a damp problem. The extractor in the ensuite was not working on the first night but this was cleaned and fixed the next day. The restaurant is nicely situated on a split level with a conservatory part overlooking the golf course. The food was not without issues, with one good main course and another with badly overcooked fish (don't know how this could escape the kitchen). The staff didn't come to check if everything was OK until after we had finished. The breakfasts were cooked to order and all OK. Meals have to be paid at the bar and could not be charged to the "room". Potentially very good, but let down on this occasion.

    « 2 Night Spa Break »

Me and my mum enjoyed a 2 night spa break at the beginning of this week. We had a lovely time, nice chilled, relaxed hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The spa facilities were lovely, relaxing and clean. The gym is a bit on the small size but ok. We enjoyed the pool/sauna/steam room and hot tub. We had a few spa treatments, the spa staff very good, particularly Nicole who looked after me very well! Thank you. The food was really great, hats off to the chef, reasonably priced for hotel food too. The hotel was placed in lovely surroundings overlooking the golf course. Unfortunately our room was the the back of the hotel which didn't benefit from this view. it was on the dark side too. As we were on a spa break we really would have appreciated the view - if we were to stay again we would definitely request this! Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The bar/restaurant overlooks the view so we did get to enjoy it from there.

« Good value spa day »

We are local but we went for the mother and daughter spa day with full use of the spa and manicures and facials. The staff were delightful and Stacey's facials were excellent: she used a variety of products, tailor- made to our needs. She included a head massage half way through which was really good and unexpected. The new changing/showering facilities are great and relaxing on the terrace outside in the sunshine later with a drink rounded off a great day.

    « lunch function »

Function room has a great position overlooking the golf course and sea in the distance particularly from the veranda. Staff all very friendly and helpful and carvery lunch well cooked. However there is a feel of "retro THF" about the place. Room is cavernous and lacks warmth in the decor. Succulent meats not too carefully carved, the dessert spoons rather that serving spoons for the vegetables kept falling into the serving dishes, and my "pet hate" three meats served and one gravy fits all! Needs to be taken to a higher level.

    « Great Short Break »

Having just enjoyed 3 days here in the most beautifull surroundings this Hotel Golf and Country Club set in rolling countryside it has 2 excellent golf courses ( if you play ) and it is a great base for enjoying the delights of Dartmouth and the many surrounding things and places to do and see. Hotel comes with pleasent comfy room's good bar and the food is very good, excellent cooked breakfasts and Chef cook's fresh and enticing dishes daily alongside the every day Bistro menu, good choice of wines and cheerful attentive staff. Look for there short break offers you will not be dissapointed. The only ? we felt the Club could do with a coat of paint looked a little tired, then don't we all after a dreary winter.

« Premium Golf Tour Package »

My husband and I stayed here taking advantage of the two night premium golf tour package that is offered by the hotel. The rooms at the hotel are well appointed with a decent amount of space. The beds were very comfortable and the staff at the hotel lovely. The food in the restaurant was also very nice and reasonably priced We played the Championship Course which I highly rate, it was well maintained and a great layout. Unfortunately the greens were cored when we played there so it is hard to say what they are normally like but the fairways were in really good condition so suspect the greens would normally also be. We also played the 9 hole Dartmouth Course which appeared to be as equally cared for as the championship course - really enjoyed these courses. Day 2 we played at Bovey Castle and whilst the castle is pretty magnificent, the course not so. I would not recommend upgrading to the premium package to play on this course. The course itself including the pro-shop was not well sign posted and unlike the championship course there were no layout diagrams provided at the tee boxes which meant that you were often playing blind. The transition from the first nine to second nine is not sign posted at all. Again the greens were cored with no notification of this. Day 3 we played at Thurlestone Golf Course and again we loved this course. The views alone are magnificent but the course was superb and the climate provided a great challenge given the wind was blowing in the opposite direction to what it normally does. The lady in the pro-shop was especially welcoming and we felt right at home here. The fairways and greens were well maintained. Would highly recommend playing on this course as part of your package - do not bypass this one. On a whole, I would recommend this package, just not the upgrade. It was great value including accommodation, breakfast, a dinner and three games of golf with unlimited use at Dartmouth.

« Easy Ryder Cup Tournament »

I found my 3 night stay at the hotel to be excellent. The hotel is ideally located for visits to surrounding areas, with Totnes, Plymouth and the very pretty Dartmouth Railway running alongside the River Dart all within easy reach. Every member of the staff was professional, helpful and courteous. They always had a smile on their face whilst working and made me feel like nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was very good value, well cooked, well presented and tasty. I didn't use the Spa facilities so cannot comment on that. I will definitely return and look forward to my next visit. « chill out time »

Booked a one night DBB deal for a twin room. I also rang ahead and booked some spa treatments. From the first call I made to book , to all the staff in the hotel, all were exceptionally friendly and helpful and felt as if nothing was too much trouble. The ladies in the spa are lovely and helpful, my therapist Nicole was lovely. Everything was spotlessly clean in the pool, spa & changing areas. Our room its self was also spotless, not much of a view as at the back of the hotel. If you want a view ask for one facing the golf course on a higher floor. But we hadn't come for the view so it didn't matter. Plenty of space in the room with everything you would expect. The bar, restaurant area are pleasant and we had a table in the conservatory for dinner. The food is good but not exceptional, there are surcharges for some of the courses if you are on a DBB rate, this might annoy some. Our breakfast in the morning was lovely and plenty of choice not just the full English - kippers, smoked salmon & eggs etc. The only point I would raise is that there is very little 'comfy' seating in the bar area. If there are groups of golf societies - which there often are. There is no where to sit in the bar after you have had dinner, so instead of having a few more drinks we went straight to our room. But this is my only gripe after a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend for a golf or spa break.

« Good food, friendly staff »

Staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a deal that included evening meal, which although we had to pay significant supplements - the main and starters were fantastic! Dessert was disappointing though. Good selection at breakfast. Rooms were small but comfortable, bathroom a little dirty. The spa area was good but showers were cold and changing room was dirty.

« 2 nights at Dartmouth Best Western Hotel and Golf Club »

Stayed 2 nights at the Dartmouth Golf Club and Hotel and couldn't fault it. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel at home, yet offered a very professional service. We ate in the Bistro both nights and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The room was a nice large room, with good facilities, and although not a scenic view (only rooms on one side of the hotel look out over the course) it was very comfortable, quiet and nicely furnished. We didn't use the pool or spa but it was there if needed! No complaints at all, would recommend staying here and would certainly stay again.

« Spa day great treatments and tea but dirty pool »

Went on spa day with partner early in April. The gym was small but equipment was modern and worked. The jacuzzi , steam room and sauna looked clean but the pool was really dirty . A new pool spoilt by a greasy scum line all around the pool at the water level. There were also several clumps of hair in the water. The ladies changing room floor was also dirty . The staff were friendly though and the treatments were good ( massage and a facial) . The cream tea was delicious

    « Faultless! »

We only stayed one night which was an all inclusive gift from our daughter. It was wonderful! The room was a generous size and spotless. The tea/coffee making facilities above normal standard. All the staff we came into contact were polite and extremely helpful. The three course dinner was top class and we had no restrictions on the menu for being all inclusive. Breakfast was perfect too with a huge range of foods to chose from and all beautifully laid out. The dining area in the conservatory was glorious. I we didn't use the pool but I did have a manicure which was very professional and I loved a bit of pampering. Great location great food great service well done everyone I will be recommending this hotel to family and friends.

« Great birthday celebration break »

Just returned home from a three night break, six ladies - we stopped in one of the lodges. What an amazing experience! The lodge was really wonderful, extremely well appointment, everything you could want and more. We enjoyed daily spa treatments and use of the spa etc. We ate in the hotel restaurant on two evenings. Delicious well cooked and presented food, the menu changed daily and chef was happy to accommodate any changes we requested. Charlie our waitress is a delightful young lady who looked after us and the other guests extremely well. All the staff in the hotel and grounds were friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our break and hope to return again one day.

    « Lovely relaxing weekend »

The hotel is about 4 miles outside Dartmouth, but this wasn't a problem, excellent views over the golf course, staff very friendly and the food was of a good standard, and portions generous, rooms clean and beds comfortable, there is a indoor pool and spa but we didn't use the facilities. Would definitely return Dartmouth is worth another visit

A 2 night stay with unlimited golf at a bargain price. The course is superb, but book a buggy it's a killer! Food was very good, and service professional. Spa is small but more than adequate. Room was spacious enoungh and beds comfortable. Bathroom waterpressure could be better, and maybe more modern, but still acceptable. Overall a very nice place to stay.

    « Quality stay »

Stayed here for the second year in a row and as expected the Hotel was excellent. Food and service was brilliant and the rooms very nice and this year we had a decent view looking out over the golf course. The Golf course itself wasnt in the best of conditions, The Greens were awful, very little grass in places and very rough and bumpy. they were perfect last year so i would put this down to the weather being very wet and very cold down in those parts but definitly a bit of a let down this time around. What most courses do is give you a bit of a discount if the greens are being treated or are poor but im guessing as this was part of a package get away they didnt think to worry about it. Some sort of discount of even a cheap freebie like a ball marker or pitch mark repairer from the pro shop would have been a nice touch. Already looking in to going again next year as its a hassle free and relaxing get away.

« Good value relaxing short break »

I needed to chill out after a big sporting event. Lovely steam room in pool and spa area. Our room was excellent and looked out over the golf course with lovely views. The dinner was expensive if you tried the additional cost items on menu. Generally the food and service were good and breakfast excellent. All staff were nice and we enjoyed our one night stay. Good location for exploring this lovely part of Devon but hotel is not in Dartmouth which we knew before we booked. Wifi pretty hopeless.

    « Relaxing and cosy »

I recently visited the Dartmouth hotel and spa with fmily and friends whilst visiting beautiful Devon. Our room was lovely and clean and the staff were exceptionally helpful. They were able to provide us with plenty of ideas of things we could do locally. My friend and I decided to take a trip to the spa and we were booked in for a full body massage. I had Nicole, and she was brilliant. She was very professional and helped me to relax as I can be very shy about my body. She was able to put me ease. She was very polite. I have paid more money for inferior massages. This was well worth the money. The food was in the bar and bistro was lovely. All cooked well and everything was fresh. We could see that the chefs took pride in the work! Our rooms well well organised and cleaned to a high standard. Everything smelt fresh and clean when we walked in and we were able to enjoy lovely views across the golf course. Would definately recommend this place to friends!

I visited on Monday 28 March 16 and had a lovely stay. The room was perfect and the bed so comfortable. The staff were warm and welcoming. We had a lovely evening meal, plenty of choice and the food was perfect including excellent service. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

We had a 3 night stay with dinner B&B for 2 nights and B&B on the 3rd. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to look after us. The room was bigger than average with a lovely big bed. The view from the room was over the hilly golf course, which was very picturesque! Although the weather was awful at various points on our stay, the atmosphere kept us cheerful! The food was very well presented and tasty, with very good menu choices. We WILL be back and next time will bring friends and family! Excellent location for exploring Devon!

We booked a two night stay which included Dinner on the first evening. The room was spacious, warm and inviting. The bed & bedding superb. The restaurant was full to capacity, despite this the staff were efficient, courteous and most capable. The three course dinner was tasty. Our Chicken with Chorizo was exceptional. Compliments to the chef for producing such an excellent dish. Breakfast, once again everything we required was available and the cooked breakfast was lovely. The views from the dining room are wonderful. We hope to return.

    « Rasul mud experience »

First impressions were great, lots of people around around, stunning grounds and smiley reception staff who pointed is in the right direction. Very friendly and helpful spa staff who explained everything well. We picked what main course we wanted, there wasn't any choice for desserts- all we knew that a trio of desserts were available. and they phoned our order upstairs. We went upstairs for our 2 course lunch. we were showed to a table in the conservatory with lovely views- we felt very relaxed already. Delicious main course ( vegetarian option) I was so impressed it was very tasty! Desserts arrived- the waiter told us we had A mini lemon posset, strawberry pavlova and a profiterole. Great! Didn't eat the profiterole it was stale and just not very nice but the lemon posset was delicious. The rasul mud was good. However I wouldn't do it again. Yes It has left my skin very smooth. However it wasn't that relaxing for me. The marble seats in there where uncomfortable, I'm petite and couldn't get comfortable so felt quite restless. Also our mud didn't dry at all- witch was unexpected. Also there was a terrible smell coming from the drain. Lovely pool, sauna and steam room. Changing rooms well equipped. Felt very comfortable there. Over heard other guests saying how great and relaxing their treatments were- which means we look forward to coming back maybe for a massage and to enjoy the pool again, But would unfortunately skip the rasul mud experience. Also looking forward to trying the main menu. See you soon, thanks for a lovely day!

    « Let down »

Having stayed here before we were very disturbed by the number of out of control children running about hotel corridors until 3am making it impossible to sleep. We had also booked at gluten free in February but the hotel had no gluten free bread at breakfast time. This is such a shame as on previous visits we had been impressed by the ambience and care. These issues need to be addressed. The next day was different again and the bread arrived. We had vowed never to visit again but that would be a shame. Don't go visiting if a wedding party in booked in!

« Relaxing girls spa day »

Me and my friend used our Groupon voucher for the Rasul mud experience with lunch. We decided to go mid week on a Wednesday rather than the weekend. We arrived at 9:30 and had the Rasul straight away after receiving a robe and flip flops. For future customers: the experience is private and in a closed off room. We didn't know what to expect, but we were shown to the locker room where we could leave our stuff and then taken to the room. They provide you with a jug of water incase you get dehydrated, and space to leave your robes and towels. There are instructions on the wall as to what to do. Another little room (similar to a steam room) contains some seating and the mud which you put on your face and body. There is then steam which makes the mud firm up and then wash off. The whole experience lasted 45 minutes I think. From there we went into the spa, which was completely empty! Although we didn't expect 10:30am on a Wednesday to be busy, we were happy to have the place to ourselves! Very peaceful and nicely decorated, good views onto the grounds. We booked lunch for 12 midday, just as the spa was getting busier. We ate in a conservatory that was reserved for people with prebooked lunches. Food was great, and we also got a free glass of wine. My only fault with the food was that the desserts weren't that great. We then went back to the spa, just as everyone else was coming up for lunch, so we got the place to ourselves again! Ended up leaving around 4pm feeling refreshed and relaxed! Definitely recommend this place for a girls day, but try and go on a weekday. Have marked room and sleep quality 4 / 5 because there was no option for N/A as we didn't stay overnight.

    « Weekend Away »

Customer reception desk was great and so were the staff behind it.... That was the highlight - oh, apart from the setting. Room was ok, have found better travel lodges.... the room was suitably equipped and the bed was comfortable. We had complimentary toiletries and the bathroom was on the small side. Food - well not really one to mince my words... awful. Not what you ordered, cold, missing orders, no decent service from the staff, just plonked your food out, No checking on how we were. We actually brought champagne and that was just put on the table. We were not spoken to as to what is the occasion, can I do this for you, would you like me to serve the champagne.... a shame actually the customer service was like this. Atmosphere... well when we were there anyone who didn't have a golf top, or trousers on in the louge/bar area was looked at down their noses and it was a very uncomfortable feel. (By the way, we were not dressed scruffily either, nor had we split wine or showed stupidity, but hey, maybe we just landed on the wrong day !! Judging by the reviews of others, this review may make it sound like I was in a different place, but this is just how we found it.

    « Weekend away »

Accommodation is very nearly perfect with gorgeous rooms exceptionally well equipped. Lovely staff and nice clean spa. This is our second stay and we love it here. There are two very simple issues that make this stay less than perfect. Firstly, the food included in the package has supplements almost exclusively . We had a pork chop (very nice) and a fairly insipid chillie, it's a bit difficult to see how the food is included with so many supplements, a minor point perhaps but quite annoying. The second is that coming back after a brilliant day at Paignton zoo the room hadn't been serviced and we had no loo roll or clean towels. The lovely young lady at reception sorted this quickly (these are great staff) but it really needed a quick service for a 2 day stay. Don't be put off though this is a terrific place !!!

We literally couldn't have asked for a better time, the hotel was much better than I was expecting and the facilities were what you would expect from a higher classed hotel. The staff were great, the food was better than average along with the room being better than we thought. We had the couples massage which was lovely and had a nice day chilling in the pool and Jacuzzi which made for a very relaxing weekend.

Had a wonderful time here at the spa. Had a lovely treatment of which there are many to choose. The place was clean, neat and tidy and the staff were friendly and professional. After my treatment I had an excellent two course meal up in the restaurant which catered for my dietary needs exactly. Would recommend a stay here and a visit to the spa is necessary.

    « Short stay »

We stayed here for three days after having the first three days in Cornwall . The staff were polite , cheerful , and always willing to help. The food was excellent . The views were pleasant. The down side is that it is not within walking distance of anywhere. This is a perfect place for golf enthusiasts .

Excellent hotel. Stunning location. Fabulous indoor swimming pool, gym, spa etc. Great breakfasts featuring local produce. 10 minutes drive to Dartmouth and 20 minutes to Totnes. Excellent value for money

« Nice hotel with a good spa »

I've just come back from a stay at this hotel with the other half. We had a 2 night spa package, which included dinner on one night, bed and breakfast on both, and 2, 30 minute spa treatments each. The hotel is well-appointed. We asked for a room over-looking the golf course and were relocated to room 102, which was nice and comfortable. The bed was really comfy with good quality pillows and duvet. The room was a good size too and the bathroom was what you'd expect. We had dinner on the first night there, and the food was very good. We had a 3-course meal, but were so stuffed after the first and second course that we couldn't even entertain a third. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although I'd say that the receptionist could have been more helpful when we checked in, as instead of her giving us information about the hotel, we had to do all of the asking. We both had spa treatments which were really good. And the spa itself is nice, its not massive, but it has all it needs, a pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and gym. The hotel is in a very good location if you wish to visit the surrounding area. Its only about 4 miles outside of Dartmouth. We went for dinner into Dartmouth on the Saturday night and a taxi cost us £13. We had dinner at Bushell's Riverside which I can highly recommend. We had a lovely weekend and would almost certainly return.

« Lovely hotel with a beautiful spa »

Just spent the last weekend here and had a lovely time. The hotel was great and the food in the restaurant was lovely. Had a full body massage in the spa which was the best massage I ever had, very relaxing. The rooms could do with a little updating and colour but they were fine and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Can I also say a huge thanjs to the reception staff who posted back my IPad safely to me when I left it behind!

« We visited for a Christmas party with a large group »

This was an excellent venue - we were well looked after and enjoyed the whole experience. The food was fresh and appetising, despite being a large function, it was also hot! Staff were very helpful and the disco good too! We plan to return next year, again for our annual Christmas party. Many staff stayed the night and again reports were great - an all round winner!

    « Disappointing »

I stayed with my boyfriend in July 2015. From 7am to 10am the fire alarm went off continuously. No staff members contacted our room to say it was a false alarm and when I contacted the main desk and asked for an explanation they told me that they were 'tired' and there is nothing they can do. I found this highly unprofessional. We were assured that we would be contacted by the management team within the following week and unfortunately, 7 months later, I am still awaiting this phonecall. The hotel itself seems like a lovely place to stay with great facilities, however I feel that the attitude of the staff and the lack of communication turned a lovely stay into a massive disappointment. Unfortunately I would be reluctant to stay again.

    « Birthday Celebrations. »

We look forward to our annual visit to The Dartmouth and this year was no exception. Turning onto the winding road down to the hotel we were already chilling out. We entered reception to be greeted by Dee with a smile to light the dullest of days. Seeing our friends again is just one of the many things that, for us, make the Dartmouth spacial. After check in we made our way to the Valley Suite. It's our favourite but this year something else made us smile hugely. Sitting on the bed were two swans. Wonderful, and they so appealed to the romantics in us. We had to take photographs and then left them until it was time to shower. It was a lovely touch. I pre booked a Spa treatment and after breakfast on the Saturday I met Nicole in the Spa. She was very professional yet friendly too. I enjoyed a wonderful massage. I was definitely relaxed and chilled. Thank you so much Nicole. Breakfasts were excellent and it was good to see Kerry at breakfast. We thought we might go into Dartmouth for dinner one evening but the hotel menu was very good with changing daily specials. We were so happy we chose to eat at the hotel. Three dinners were very different, excellent quality and delicious. The Hanging Kebab is on the menu and my husband decided to try the chicken one. He loved it. Thanks Carl. I have to say hello to Charlie. It was so good to see you again. Your efficiency and charm are so appreciated. In fact the whole team beaver away so that guests can chill out. It's appreciated. We are already looking forward to January 2017 but don't want to wish our lives away so it just remains to say thank you to Dee, weaver of magic, and the wonderful Sam. You both make sure that a birthday celebration is even more special. You help us make memories. Thank you and to all at The Dartmouth, have a brilliant 2016. Turning off

    « 1 night stay »

We arrived on a very wet and rainy day and we're checked in swiftly. Our room was okay a little dated but fine. We had paid for an evening meal included which was a small portion of the menu my wife didn't fancy anything on the "available" food but the waitress arranged for her to have something else this wasn't mentioned in any way when we booked the room and tbh wasn't worth the extra payment. Breakfast was quite good. Overall just okay for the price we paid.

    « Quiet but romantic. »

We came here mid week so the hotel was really quiet, especially in the restaurant, but it was nice that we had the pool and jacuzzi area mainly to ourselves. The room was lovely and nicely decorated. We really enjoyed our stay!

« Groupon deal including Rasul mud treatment & 2 course lunch with prosecco »

We came here to use a groupon deal that had been purchased for us as a gift. We enjoyed the Rasul mud treatment & used the pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room. The 2 course lunch was enjoyable although the choices were limited (3 choices for main & 1 choice for dessert). We were seated in the conservatory area overlooking part of the golf course, which was lovely. Overall, we enjoyed our time here.

    « From One Extreme 2 Another »

A friend and I purchased the "mud experience for 2 including a 2 course lunch with a glass of prosecco" from Groupon. Well, the Rasul mud treatment was definitely worth the money, we were greeted by a lovely lady who provided us with robes and instructions, and the treatment was just as expected. At 12 we were booked in for our lunch, at which point our so far relaxing day turned into a right flop. We weren't allowed to to eat in the bar area with other guests, even though we were surrounded by empty tables. We was shoved upstairs, on our own, like we were an embarrassment, in a massive cold empty function room. It was silent. Zero atmosphere. And then, it got worse, it turns out the only meat option available to us was a cold chilli chicken wrap. So we're sat there, on our own in the middle of the room, playing music on my iPad propped up on the dinner table, eating a fridge cold chicken wrap that I could have got from the service station on the way there, the sound of empty bottles being thrown into a bottle bank from outside going off every 2 minutes, laughing off what a horrible lunch we were having. Need I go on. After the spa it was all downhill. We won't be returning.

    « New Year break »

Dartmouth is a lively town over the New Year, with a warm welcome for visitors and the Best Western Hotel is a great base at which to stay. We enjoyed the facilities of the hotel, including the spa, sauna and steam room while enjoying the nearby shops and pubs for a few days over New Year. The rooms in particular offer more space than many competitors, the wifi was free and quick, and the staff were warm and helpful. While I couldn't extol the dinner menu, why worry when Dartmouth has excellent restaurants , for example Taylor's. Also, it ihas the feel more of a golf club than a hotel - this has benefits with meals and drinks being readily available - but perhaps an area with comfortable seating would enhance the facility for hotel guests. For the golfer, the course on which the hotel is built is a fair, challenging test but on this occasion, mplay simply wasn't possible in the foul weather ! If you are visiting this area, this is a great place to stay at reasonable rates.

« WONDERFUL NEW YEAR BALL! »

The New Years Eve Ball at the DGCC was wonderful! We had a great time dancing the night away... however it was the firework display just after midnight that was the icing on the cake! Amazing! Loved it! We are local so will be booking again next year - not to be missed! Thank you for a great night.

« New Year at DGCC »

8 of us spent New Year at DGCC last night. Brilliant evening gala but weather stopped the golf despite every best effort of the staff. Will come back, maybe for next Gala New Year, food amazing, great band and fireworks - well done all at Dartmouth

    « 2 night stay DBB »

We wanted a short break near the coast and chose this hotel, the room was above basic and easy to get to from car park at rear. We both enjoyed the breakfast and evening meals which were above the standard expected. The staff were very polite, helpful and engaged in conversation. The bar area can get busy as it is also used by groups of golfers as there is no separate club house. We didn't use spa facilities but did look around and these were to a high spec. We loved Dartmouth which is a good 4 miles from hotel, however be prepared for the narrow winding roads which lead to the coastline beaches through picturesque villages.

« Great cottages, amazing golf and beautiful spa treatments »

We stayed for 4 nights after Christmas with family. We had a cottage each and they had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. The boys played golf and the girls had treatments and went shopping in Dartmouth. The kids went swimming every day and also played tennis so by bedtime they were finished! The staff are so friendly and we recognise many of them from our trips over the years which is really nice. The spa treatments are amazing. We had Nicole and she was really very good. Having this is a really good addition to the club and we saw lots of people enjoying it. If you are looking to stay in Dartmouth we would definitely recommend it.

    « A Pleasant Stay »

One night overnight over Christmas holidays on the way to Cornwall. Clean, pleasant rooms somewhat reminiscent of Travel Inn format rather than something more luxurious. Food was a little ordinary but it met the needs for both dinner and breakfast.

    « Restaurant review »

The food was very average. Not imaginatively cooked. As another reviewer has said, only One Vegetarian option which was Thai curry and I wouldn't have trusted the kitchen to get that right. Plaice was well cooked but too much pepper, new potatoes overcooked. 'Seasonal vegetables' turned out to be a salad. Our waiter not well trained.

    5
    « Romantic Weekend away »

Despite a blowy, rainy winter weekend we loved our stay. All the facilities were first-rate, the staff friendly and professional and the food and service brilliant. A few minor issues were sorted out immediately and professionally. The only minor drawback I would mention was the occasional noisy group of celebrating golfers and hen-night revellers - but hey - I guess they were enjoying the Hotel too (just a little too boisterously for my taste.)

    4
    « Luxerious Hotel »

This was a lovely luxurious Best Western hotel. It was pricey but we got what we paid for. The food in the restaurant was amazing- but could have done with more than x1 vegetarian option. All staff were friendly and approachable. The spa facilities- pool, hot tub and sauna were very clean and relaxing atmosphere. Lovely weekend break- just a shame about the weather!

    4
« Spa facilities were immaculate. »

We stayed for 2 nights... Our room was very clean, as were all the facilities. We used the spa and had a full stone body massage- which was extremely relaxing! The breakfast included many sumptuous foods such as strawberries, pineapple, melon and cooked breakfasts. Could hardly fault this hotel, although we would both say that the decor in our room needed updating... We could definitely tell that the spa had been recently refurbished.

« Worst choice of my life to stay here! »

I booked a weekend break for me and my wife for our anniversary. I wish I hadn't. Our room was small and dark. We had an evening meal the first night. We weren't close to the kitchens but our meal was constantly interrupted by the sound of someone shouting and swearing from the kitchen. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and language! The food we were served was cold and bland. We explained to the waitress who took it back (accompanied by more profanities from the kitchen, including some choice names I'm sure were directed at us for wanting better food). When the food returned it was not much better. We did not go back to the restaurant for any more meals, even the included breakfasts. I had booked a treatment for my wife. She was greeted by a very rude member of staff who said her treatment wasn't booked in and that we must have the date wrong! This was not the relaxing or romantic weekend we had hoped for, and quite frankly the behaviour of the staff is disgraceful!

    « 8 out of 10! »

Situated in a superb location, this is an ideal base to enjoy South Devon. This is a Golf Club hotel offering a relaxed, informal atmosphere, so I do not recommend taking your 'glad rags' and dressing for dinner. That is not a criticism, just an observation. The bedding, bedroom and en suite were spotlessly clean and fully functional. Everything worked! The bedroom overlooked the golf course and the view was beautiful. All staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, and the food was excellent, especially the breakfasts! The hotel facilities are designed as 'open plan', including the bar, restaurant and lounge area, the dining area being dissected by the passageway from the entrance/reception to the bedrooms. This detracts from the ambience preferred for an evening meal, and meant that people were walking through the dining area when we were eating. The only real negative comment from me is the arrangements for the spa and leisure facility. This is open to the public, including swimming lessons for young children. Access to the spa is restricted between 10am and noon, and 3pm to 6pm, when freedom from children from outside could not be guaranteed. These are the times when, due to the wet weather, we would have liked to relax and enjoy the spa facilities, especially the pool, but we felt outside visitors were given priority over us Also some parents allowed (and were allowed by hotel management) to run around the restaurant, after visiting the spa, while people were eating their evening meal. We will return to the hotel in the future, but will be mindful of this negative aspect, so it will not spoil our stay. Overall it was value for money!

« Not impressed with package deal »

My friend (bride to be) booked a package deal for us to use the pool and have a treatment she also paid extra for a pedicure. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna itself was great. However, my massage was okay but the therapist kept checking her phone which I thought was rude. My friend said hers was good. We had a two course lunch with this deal which was absolutely awful, I had seafood whilst my friend had meat. She couldn't touch her wrap as it was full of mayonnaise and lacking meat, she was not told what was actually in the wrap, she had chicken nuggets with this which were dry and tasteless. I had a tuna and cucumber wrap which also looked like it fell in the pot of mayonnaise, I had haddock goujons which were hard and dry. Then our dessert.....well a shop bought meringue with yesterday's cream and mouldy fruit on top, definitely made the day before. Could not believe it at that point we left as shocked by what we received, will not be going back.

    « Enjoyable leisure break »

Stayed few days November 2015 enjoyed a birthday break for my husband. Staff very friendly and helpful. Charlie was a great member of the team who made my husbands birthday dinner extra special adding balloons and table decorations a nice touch thank you. Room nice size with bay window overlooking putting green. Good views fromRestaurant, Food very tasty and reasonably priced. We are not golfers but it looked a good course if you wished to indulge. We did experience the Spa which we both enjoyed. Small pool, but nice jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. We both had treatments which we found excellent. It took 13 mins to get into Dartmouth centre which was certainly great this time of year for car parking. We also visited Brixham and Torquay which we used the ferry. If you visit Brixham do try Rock Fish Restaurant if you love fish. We would certainly stay at the Dartmouth again

« Great location but Spa staff disinterested »

Spa staff didn't appear interested, didn't show us around, explain, even stayed noisily changing refreshment cart in relaxation room after we asked her to leave! I was disappointed, the place looks great but not a warm welcome.

    « Golf trip »

Golf course was a bit wet, to be expected in November and on there's quite a trek between some holes. Pro's and con's - if you take a buggy you have to keep to the paths. Hotel it self is fine, booked a single room and have a big double bed. Staff are very friendly. Dinner menu had a good choice and food was fine with staff eager to know everything was alright. Very impressed with breakfast, good choice again and it wasn't a buffet. Only problem was very poor mobile phone signal but wifi availabe.

« Great value. Wonderful spa treatments. »

Husband and I wanted a couple of nights away and found this hotel on spabreaks.com - 2 nights B&B, 3 course meal on one night and 2 30 minute massages (or facials) each all for £210 (£105 per person) - a good deal! We were given room 206, a decent size room with large bed. The bathroom was a bit tired but clean enough. Nice freebie toilettries and thick white towels. The bed was made strangely as it had a thick duvet under the sheet and I can only assume this is to cover either a lumpy or old mattress (I didnt investigate though). Our 3 course meal was pretty good. The food was tasty, portion size spot on and service was quick and friendly but the conservatory was a bit chilly and the chairs not particularly comfortable. Our first massage was ok but was too short as only 20 mins long so I upgraded us to full treatments on our second day, me to a facial and hubby to full body massage. The upgrade cost an additional £15 each which I considered reasonable. Hubby said his hour long massage was "perfect" & my facial was the best Ive ever had. Spa staff are friendly and professional with no hard sell of the gorgeous but expensive Elemis products. The breakfasts are very good although the porridge I had on our first morning was not sweetened, it was solid and could be cut with a knife. It would have been nice to be asked if I wanted all milk, all water or half and half (my preference). The cereal, fruit, juice were all very nice (raspberries and strawberries too, yum!). Cofffee was hot and strong. The cooked breakfasts were good quality and tasty. Why are hotel toasters so rubbish? This one produced untoasted toast (first pass through the machine) but set the fire alarm off when a man put his "untoast" in for another pass! The hotel could do with a bit of a revamp, some areas are dated and tired looking. There was a leak on the stairs and the carpet was sodden. But its quiet and comfortable and not snobby/sniffy like some golf hotels. So, to sum up, we had a nice stay and may well come back (Im going to try and persuade my girlfriends to join me for a couple of days pampering and relaxing) but only if I can get a similar good deal.

    « Very good value. »

Stayed at this hotel 31st Oct to 2nd Nov 2015. Booked a family room that was a good size, modern and clean. The hotel overall was much better than expected. Very modern and new. Included access to swimming pool between 3 & 6pm which my 6 year old enjoyed very much. We ate here both evenings. The food was very good and at a good price, likewise the breakfast. The staff were friendly and provided a good service. The hotel is well placed for visiting Dartmouth and surrounding areas. I really cannot fault this hotel. We had a pleasant stay and would use this hotel again.

« Spa day with lunch and Rahul treatment »

We were really looking forward to our day of relaxation but felt disappointed when greeted by an uptight unhelpful receptionist at the spa when I couldn't access the voucher code on my mobile. I was told I would have to pay again and she just repeated we couldn't use the spa without the 4 digit PIN number. I appreciate the voucher is needed but had proof of payment on my email and she was expecting us as we had booked several weeks earlier, not very professional. Fortunately I managed to access the voucher code so was then asked to complete a questionnaire, interestingly enough one question asked how stressed I was, stress levels had gone up since arriving! However once "in" we had a lovely time enjoyed the light lunch and Rasul treatment. Customer service could be greatly improved but the facilities were good.

« Spa treatment with lunch »

The treatment and relaxation rooms were cool. During the massage I was cold . I told the therapist and she tucked the sheet under my feet!! My mom had her treatment next and when I told the receptionist and therapist how cold I had been and as I was worried for my mom, they shrugged their shoulders and suggested she removed her wet swimming costume. The only reason my husband next didn't complain was because he had been in the gym and was still hot. The relaxation room was very cool which didn't encourage sitting and relaxing. In the past we have visited and enjoyed the spa. Not this time. The girls seemed unwilling or unable to provide a solution to our issues. Not a pleasant visit

« Not good but not bad either, mixed feelings. »

I stayed here with my wife as a surprise present for my 30th, booked a room, spa treatment, 3 course meal and breakfast. Check in was interesting as reception is located the complete opposite end of the hotel car park for guests so we had fun finding it, but receptionist was lovely and helpful. Our room was big but for some reason the windows had been left open so we walked into a freezer! Left the heating on and went for lunch, as it was a Sunday carvery was on which was delicious but at £26 pound for 2 carveries and 2 cokes I was a bit shocked at the price. Later that day we made use of the pool, sauna and steam rooms which were lovely, but the highlight was the spa treatments could not fault the staff from start to finish a credit to your hotel. We had our evening meal which was a lovely setting overlooking the golf course, but unfortunately the food was quite poor except the soup starter, the chicken was almost rubbery and dessert I was picking large nuts out of a chocolate brownie.... Never have I eaten a brownie in that manner but maybe it is just my experience. That evening we were tucked up in bed and the fire alarm went off we evacuated outside only to be told by a "live in" member of staff that we may need to expect more alarms as it had already gone off multiple times that day, luckily this was the only incident during our stay. Breakfast was good we ate continental and I loved the options on offer, waitress very helpful and friendly. To sum up staff in hotel and spa are great, could not fault them. Hit and miss food, rooms are fairly average, I'm on the fence as to how to rate this place so I have gone in the middle.

    « Golf trip »

Nice hotel with everything you need. Course in great condition as it always is, thank you. Based on other trips we do our group found the bar menu, beer (£4.20 pint) and golf buggies expensive in comparison to other equal locations.

    « Spa Treatment & Lunch »

My partner & I visited for a Rasul treatment and lunch whilst on holiday in Devon. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. The treatment was very good and was fully explained to us so we knew what to expect. The changing rooms were equipped with everything I needed. Lunch in the restaurant was tasty and the menu was varied. We had an excellent view of the golf course. I would recommend and would visit again if ever in Devon.

    « An excellent stay »

What a beautiful location in a lovely part of Devon. Although not golfers we did appreciate the fine golf course that wrapped itself around the hotel. The views of the course from our room were excellent. The Pool, Gym and Spa are first class and we enjoyed spending some time there. We dined at the restaurant and can say that the food is very good and priced about right, considering the location etc. We'll be back to this lovely part of Devon again.

The Dartmouth gave me and my partner a fully relaxed great mini break. Thank you.

« Team End of Season trip »

Went with a large party of golfers. First impressions of hotel were good as receptionist was friendly and helpful. Bar area service for lunch was pretty slow, but quality of food that appeared both at lunch and dinner was much much higher than expected. Breakfast was also good too. Some dinner items carried price supplements which were hard to fathom. Room was clean tidy and comfortable. Golf course was in very good condition. It is a little nutty as it crosses some fairly extreme gradients. But great views and some holes individually are excellent. ... Everyone enjoyed it but wouldn't want to play it every week! Older folks took buggies and were glad they did. Overall we were well looked after...course condition very good, worth the drive down.

    « Comfortable »

Stayed here on business for a couple of nights and it was comfortable enough. Room was clean and a good size desk etc for work. Adequate wifi, which was free to use. On one night there was quite a rowdy all male group in the bar who were a little noisy. Food was fine, with breakfast available from 7am (although nothing cooked until 7.30am). Friendly staff and nice grounds (if golf courses are your thing!!)

    « Great Golf / Warm Welcome »

Two lovely golf courses, 18 hole championship, every hole is different and a pleasure to play, 9 hole is also a pleasure to play. At the hotel you will receive a nice warm welcome, comfortable rooms and good quality locally sourced food. Close to Dartmouth and its attractions- if visiting in main season, suggest parking at Park and Ride. Suggest Cherub Public House for a nice meal in an historic environment.
