    « Very kind »

Extraordinarily helpful staff. The room may not have the very latest in decor, but everything one needs is there. The presence of a restaurant in the building makes it possible to relax after a long drive and not have to go out again.

    « Staff »

Recently stay here with my grandson, the room we had 105 was nicely located to the door and lobby. We were checked in by Sabrina who was beyond helpful and educated on Best Western rewards. We saw her several times that night and she was polite and had a smile each time. The guy that came in after her was rather rude and refused to even talk to us, we asked him where the ice machine was and he just pointed. The food was okay, typical bar food with a small menu, but the waiter was friendly. I would likely stay here again because of the front desk staff.

« Great for pets; Restaurant disappoints »

My husband & I were traveling with our yellow lab for a one night stay. I had stayed here with my dog just less than 2 wks before our 10-13-16 stay. When I was there before, I had an awesome dinner that was wonderfully prepared. This time, however, in such a short time, they discontinued the restaurant menu and only had bare-bones choices. Very disappointing. I just took the soup bar... which was only tepid and left alot to be desired. My husband had an OK sandwich, but it was so different from the experience I had previously.though. Also, the server never introduced himself, wasn't personable at all, and you could hardly understand him. The breakfast was very good, very substantial. The grounds also seemed to be neglected. The weeds around the building were huge. If this is the direction the motel is going, I will find a different place to stay.

    « Just average »

The hotel is ok. It was a decent room for a decent price with a refrigerator. The breakfast was good. Pool and hot tub decent. The sink in the bathroom drained slowly. The staff is terrible. One staff member literally told me there is "nothing to do" in the area (I like to ask the locals what they recommend in case I missed something in my research). Another one had no idea where restaurants or anything was, not even the general direction nor could she offer brochures. Thankfully, the place has free internet so we could find directions and addresses ourselves and get where we wanted to go!

« Excellent Service and a nice place to stay »

The hotel is older and rates were excellent. Service was very good as we had trouble with the TV and the lady from the desk came to our room and fixed the problem for us. Breakfast was typical BW faire.

« Tired and lacks maintenance procedures. »

Peeling caulk, boring paint colors and low wattage light bulbs pretty much define this property. The shower drain seemed to run a bit slow as well. They also really messed up with our banquet meal and under prepared food quantities - not good. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable with four pillows provided. The AC worked as it should. The provided breakfast was presented well and the hot items were hot. The close proximity to ORV trails makes this an ideal location for this type of activity and there is even a gas station adjoining the parking lot so unlicensed vehicles can still get fuel without going out on the public roads.

« Service problems and high management »

I stayed here for my high school reunion, as did several other classmates. Our reunion dinner was in one of the conference rooms, and the place was packed with motorcycle riders. The room was not ready when we arrived, although it was an hour past the check in time. The service was not particularly helpful or friendly. The room itself was nice, a renovated king suite. It was a nicer room than I wanted and overpriced for the local area. It was quiet, at the end of the hall, despite the large number of motorcycles. However, the breakfast was very poor quality and served on styrofoam plates and cups. This is so very bad for the environment. I have stayed at worse hotels and many hotels around the world, but this is the only time I have eaten on styrofoam in the past few years. The food and service at the reunion dinner were abominable. The young man assigned to go the bar downstairs and get our drinks just stood around and was very slow when he did go. We had to be out of the room at 9 PM!!!! And the food...well, the pork was incredibly over done. The chicken did not look very good, the green beans were way overcooked. The mashed potatoes came from a box, it seemed. The best part was the salad, the very plain salad. The beverages never arrived. The food ran out before everyone was served, and it was 20 minutes before more food. We took a poll and resolved never, ever to have our reunion at this place again....and all of us staying at the Arrowhead resolved to find a different place to stay next time we are in Black River Falls.

    « New management problems »

When I made the reservation the clerk did not register it. The room was not cleaned up from the previous guest. They were flying US Flags that were shredded. I was there with a group and had a buffet dinner that they ran out of food and took over two hours to serve everyone. Good location for site seeing.

    « Can't handle groups »

I stayed at the Arrowhead Best Western as part of a group of about 125 motorcycle riders. We made arrangements with the hotel FAR in advance and that included two group buffet dinners. Things were so-so on the first night. The only real downer was that the pasta was cooked into paste. There was a ash bar [that we had asked for] and the bartender was a little surly but that was apparently because she wasn't ready on time. The second night the catering staff screwed up royally! We had the same size crowd and they came up about 20% short on food. It took them almost and hour to come up wait more food and it wasn't the same menu that the first part of our crowd got. The manager offered us one free drink each but by that time they were out of beer [our crowd is pretty basic and beer is the preferred drink]. The rooms were generally OK but be advised that if you get assigned to a room on the lower level there is sort of a "bunker feel" to them. The hotel is built into the side of a hill and in our mini suite the living room was small with a low ceiling and no windows. The room wasn't bad, you just need to have the right expectations. A couple of other things... It seems that there has been some shift in management and there is some work going on. The hotel is VERY spread out and the only ice machine was about as far from our room as possible. There were places for other ice machines, just no machines. Also, there was no security on the outside door to our wing. The card reader was broken for all the time we were there and the door didn't latch. Just lots of small disappointments.

« ATV trip to Black River Falls »

We try to take at least one trip to Black River Falls for ATV trip per year. We love the area and the trails. The Best Western Arrowhead Lodge is so convenient, as it is right on the trail head. Plus gas and other food places are right there. You never have to leave, once you arrive.

« Still a good place to stay »

We have stayed at this Inn many times. We have always had a good experience when we did. Our last stay was a little tarnished by the fact that there was a motorcycle rally and a class reunion along with the usually Saturday night crowd. It completely slowed down the dining room and lounge. I'm sure that neither of these events "just happened" at the spur of the moment. The management of the Inn should have geared up for these events and been better prepared. Also, the Inn is removing their wonderful dinner menu and going to a pub menu I understand. I feel this is a mistake. Time will tell.

    « BW »

This stay was better than the last. We at least had a shower that drained, the breakfast is your standard continental, no so great. We left and went to Perkins instead. There is always a very very long wait for the waffle machine.....

    « Banquet room »

Class of 1971 reserved a room fora class reunion. The food was ok, not great and ran out and took forever to get more. The room itself was fine but if you looked over the balcony and the area above the coffee service was very dirty. Broken light fixtures were lying on the top of the area above the front desk. Needs some TLC. I did not stay in the hotel, was just in the banquet room.

    « Cranberry Fest »

We have been staying at the Best Western (a.k.a.Orange Moose) for at least the past 10 years. We come every year for Cranfest. They have the best waffles in the morning. It's a tradition to stay here and we make our reservations for the following year before we check out.

« Nice lounge, friendly staff BUT rooms need work »

The hotel has a great staff that go out of their way to make you stay pleasurable. Ate at the restaurant, shrimp was good, bar pleasant. BUT the rooms are drab, shabby, strangely shaped and tiny. We had a queen bed and there was hardly any room between the furniture and the bed. Needs major update, furniture looks like it is left over from the 1980s. In a few more years it will probably be retro. Could be a nice hotel if renovated. Spend 60+ nights in hotels on business and normally find Best Western brand to be nice hotels, not this one way way way overpriced. We were charged $149.00 + tax for room that should have been $59.00. Will not be staying again

    « A pokemon go review :) Star added. »

So, I live here now and have found myself spending more time than is usual in this hotel's parking lot (I drive slow and try not to bother anyone! Honest!). So I thought I should give back and update my review. First - the security concern with outside doors seems to have been solved. That's actually why I added the star. But more importantly, the hotel is surrounded by pokestops which, after several disappointing trips for work and vacation, it turns out is not something all hotels have. The big orange moose, leaping buck, nature trail opposite the hotel, little orange moose, lodge decor, and culturally insensitive art are all stops. There are two more at the campground nextdoor. Spawns are decent around the oasis. The hotel actually has the best ones at the little decks by the pond - but since those feel a little trespassy as a non-guest I've only gone down there to catch the occasional dratini. If you or you + the fam play pokemon go it'll make this an even better place to stay.

    « Wedding Weekend »

We stayed he for my brother-in-law's wedding. The room was a good size for my husband, three kids and me. It did however have a musty smell. Breakfast was pretty good, but our room service was greasy.

« Wonderful staff and hotel! »

We booked through the Expedia app and paid for the room, but when we arrived they didn't have any rooms. Apparently Expedia was over booking the hotel, but luckily the wonderful manager Mandy and desk clerk Alex took care of us! They did some juggling and got us a room and even upgraded us for no additional charge! Love the service here!!

    « Never again »

First room smelled like Pickles, air conditioner so loud couldn't hear TV even with volume at full. Hallways smelled strong of air freshener, extremely nauseating. Second room, a suite, had hair on the bathroom floor, some stuck to the dried urine on floor. Shower curtain sour smelling with red mold on the bottom. Dirty sink with unknown substance in sink drain, dirty ice bucket/no bag, TV did not work in bedroom. The red Moose statue out front was nice, what I didn't know was the red on the Moose was a warning not to stay here.

    « Fun Weekend »

Quiet big, hotel room and nice staff. Could use a paddle boat to go around pond outside. Okay breakfast, only one waffle maker so many people were standing in line and the toaster was broken. Room was very big where they had breakfast and plenty of seating. Close to 4 wheeler trail and mini golf course we went too. Had a pool that was small, but our kids still had fun.

« Clean but small room »

The room was nice and clean but not spacious. everything was in working order and the staff were extremely nice. Breakfast had eggs, sausage, waffles etc. would stay again. The grounds are beautiful. The icemaker was quite a ways from our room, and the elevator was also far away. I would ask for first floor next time.

Plastic plates and cutlery at breakfast. Poor room service, one day bed not made just pulled across. Poor service at reception and a reluctance to resolve a problem. Night staff much more helpful. One a positive note the main barman was great, one of the best G&T's I have had.

    « Nice staff »

Enjoyed our stay at this beautiful part of Wisconsin. Great staff who were willing to go the extra mile. The breakfast was good and the restruant had a wonderful menu selection and great food; especially the salad bar! We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful part of Wisconsin. The staff were very nice! The breakfast was good. The pool was great!

    « Average Hotel »

Suite isn't worth the extra $, tub/shower wouldn't drain, so your standing in dirty water and it almost overflowed after two of us took a shower. Stayed here one other time and thought it would be nicer if we got the suite. It's not, it's just a place to lay your head, nothing special.

    « Major run-around »

My biggest regret is that there is not a "0" rating. I booked 4 rooms for my group of fishermen heading to Canada using Everything went wrong with the booking and I ended up getting stuck for paying for one of the rooms 2 times. A review of the documentation on the receipt showed inaccuracies that made tracing the details not possible. I got good cooperation from the manager at this hotel in trying to get a refund, but that was after screwing things up to start with. This is the 3rd year (or it could be 4th) a group of us have stayed here. We had problems the year before, but not to the same extent. But, one thing is consistent... the food is OK in the restaurant but the service is always mediocre. My recommendation... find another place to stay.

    « Cheryl's Review »

All was good. The only suggestion would be to put grab bars in the shower/tub. Altogether a great time and a fun place to visit. The town of Black River Falls is beautiful and lots of neat places to shop and visit.

    « Wedding weekend »

Stayed for the weekend room is terribly musty air filters on ac terrible dirty pulled front off unit and its filthy causing musty smell I am a hvac technician I would stay here again if the smell wasn't so bad now all out nice wedding clothes smell terrible

« One night stay between Chicago and Winnipeg »

An older hotel/motel down the road. Reception employees okay and fast, the rooms we had where too small for 2016. Low roof so very hot night in the summer, airco was too noise to let it run trough the night. Small bathroom. Had to take the stairs up with the luggage, not nice in the warm days.

« Great Road Trip Stopover »

We've stayed here two years in a row driving from MN to OH. It's a great place. The people are nice, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious. I highly recommend it! We ate in the hotel restaurant both years. It's plain hotel food, nothing fancy. The kids enjoyed their wings and I had a good hamburger. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but worth it not to have to go anywhere.

« Room was musty and had terrible order »

I stayed here for 2 nights because I couldn't get anther room close by. The room smelled musty and stale. The A/C didn't help and opening the window didn't help. All other business associates had the same experience with their rooms.

    « Good experience »

My husband and I enjoyed staying here. It had a nice Native American type decor, it was clean, the room was spacious, and the price was right - relatively inexpensive for a BW. The staff was friendly and helpful and professional. I would recommend and would stay again.

    « Unpleasant experience »

We stayed at this hotel as a family of 4 on a long drive home from a trip in Canada. We intended it only as a spot to get a quick night's sleep before hitting the road in the morning. We made a reservation online as we drove, had no problems and got a great rate. That's where the good experience ended. Check in was fine. Not friendly but quick and efficient. Our room was down a long, long hall and ended up being right across from the ice/vending area. The machines in there were insanely loud. We could hear them through the door but they were drowned out by the even louder AC unit (which blows up into the curtains not allowing you to have a cool room AND darkness). Regardless, we just wanted to wash up and rest. The bathroom was clean. The beds, however were awful. The comforter on one of the beds was stained all over with goodness only knows what (yellow stains). The other bed was covered in what appeared to be blood spots - on the comforter, pillows, etc. We stripped the beds and slept in our sleeping bags that were thankfully in the car. Reports to the front desk of this situation were met with mild apologies but not much else. We got up early and thought we'd grab a quick bite at the provided breakfast. And while this isn't the fault of the staff, other guests were serving themselves with their bare hands rather than the provided utensils. So, we just bailed out and got some food on the road. Didn't expect the four seasons but was hoping for a clean, quiet place. Wouldn't return.

« Enjoyed our short stay »

Large party in restaurant totally overwhelmed kitchen. I ordered a sandwich and husband had a bowl of soup from the buffet so he got his right away, but I waited an hour for the sandwich - finally gave up. Waitress was very apologetic and understanding - not her fault. Didn't charge for the soup.

« Like the Best Western a lot. »

Loved the charm of this Lodge and the overall area. The value you get for the price is outstanding. While the hotel may appear to be a little dated, the rooms and amenities were very accommodating. Did not try the free breakfast. Walked through and it appeared to be the usual complimentary fare breakfast items. Had a few minor issues with the room but did not follow up since we were there only one night.

« Ecellent Place to Stay Even While Remodeling »

Hotel is remodeling rooms and hallways by painting and changing the carpeting. They have improved the lighting even while going energy efficient. We had a quite restful nights sleep and the value was great compared to staying in the Wisconsin Dells. If your family wants water slides stay here and go to the water slide and go-cart amusement park a way better value and deal. Staff is friendly and this hotel overall is a great place to stay.

    « A great "One Stop" destination »

The title states that this is a one stop destination. There is everything and anything you need for a short (or long) stay at this Inn. They have a great restaurant and lounge, laundry mat on premises. There is a gas station next door and even a Perkins pancake house next door along with a taco John's etc. Also a cheese and ice cream place. Did I mention that it is located at the trailhead of the Wisconsin Stated ATV trail? My wife and I had the Prime Rib special and it was excellent. The entire menu looked great and pricing is reasonable. I would definitely recommend this Inn.

    « NIce comfy hotel »

The room was larger than what we expected and was clean. We asked for a first floor room due to a recent ankle sprain, but what I didn't know is they also have rooms at the ground level, so when we parked I still had stairs to climb. When we checked in there were several other people checking in, but we didn't hear a peep out of anyone and had a relaxing stay. I just wanted to mention that in a nearby room there was a couple in around their 50's that after they left they left the room door wide open, showing how big of slobs they are. Just because you don't have to clean the room afterwards doesn't mean you should leave the place a mess! It makes housekeeping spend needless time cleaning up after you, which may mean the next time you want to check in early your room might not be ready. Be and act like a responsible adult!!!

« Worst Hotel Experience Ever! »

We arrived at check-in time and our room still wasn't cleaned. The lady told us it would be about 15 minutes, and 45 minutes later, we still didn't have a room, even though we needed it to get ready for a wedding. I ended up doing my makeup in the lobby with a bunch of people there and even flies flying around, and then changing in the car. We finally got our key card when we came back, and excited to relax, we opened the door to our king "suite", which was the furthest thing from a suite I've ever seen. The entry room was smelly and the love seat was musty smelling! That doesn't seem clean to me! I paid nearly $160 for this crap room. Breakfast was meh; there were some options, but nothing that tasted good; everything was pretty bland, and the syrup for the waffles was all over the dispenser, which wasn't pleasant. At check out we complained about the late check-in, not getting our room when they said it was ready, the smelly room, and the breakfast. The lady took note about our complaint and said the manager would get a hold of me and try to work something out. However, I still haven't heard a word from anyone. I shouldn't have to be the one to initiate a complaint to a FOURTH person there. I'm a very reasonable and understanding person, but when I mention the poor service for a $160 room to several people and still don't hear back from anyone, that's totally unacceptable. Overall, it was a horrible hotel experience and definitely not worth the price!! No one should stay at Best Western.

« Still an amazing place »

Been here 4 or 5 times and still love pulling into the parking lot. Just a one night stay while heading up to north Wisconsin but had a great room and a great meal in their restaurant/bar. Very scenic and peaceful location.

    « Not good! »

I am not sure why everyone likes this place. We got to our room and it smelled bad. Very musty. The room needed lots of work. Then the next morning after our showers, I asked my husband if he left a towel hanging on the bathroom door. He said no. It must have been a dirty towel from a previous guest. Won't be back again!

« Worst Western maybe a better way to explain the staff. »

To start with, we normally don't stay at Best Western hotels. Nothing against them, just have a preference for other chains. We were here for a wedding and booked with the wedding group. When I made the reservations on the phone I made it clear that my wife was disabled and that we were traveling with a service dog. We called the morning of checkin to see if we could get any upgrades to the room as we saw a whirlpool suite in the site we are willing to pay extra for. The person who answered the phone was really rude to us and said because we booked the group rate we couldn't change. I've NEVER heard of a hotel turning down extra revenue! Got there to check in and waited some time. Neither my note regarding my wife's disability nor the service dog were in the reservation. The service dog wasn't a big deal and handled without any hassle. However we were placed on a second floor significantly far from an elevator. There are only two elevators in the building and only one capable of holding a luggage cart. It literally took me 45 minutes to navigate the cart through the hotel to our room and get the luggage unloaded. Bad design. The room itself looked clean enough, but bad design. No way to lay in bed and watch TV comfortably without laying on your side. The bed seemed to be comfortable enough. Not sure how well our drain worked in the tub, but it held water, so that's good. The fact that the "We don't want to wash sheets as often to save energy" placard was stained is disconcerting. I wonder what a UV light on the sheets would reveal? Night after the wedding my wife and I go down to the hot tub to relax and had plenty of time left. The gentlemen working the night shift proceeded to treat us like middle schoolers and give us ten and five minute countdowns and ultimately ask us to leave the pool area WHILE IT WAS OBVIOUS WE WERE DRYING OFF. Now onto the "breakfast buffet." We were in the buffet area finishing our breakfast around 9:45 and one of the staff literally walked by while my wife had food in her hand and asked us to leave. I get that the restaurant opened at 11, but we were doing absolutely no harm here and it was obvious we were wrapping up. Finally we had to call three people to ask for a late checkout. This seems stupid, the whole point of a late checkout IS SO YOU CAN SLEEP IN. The outside of the hotel needs some maintenance as there is peeling paint. There were also several pieces of extra furniture and other accessories in the hallway. Not exactly a great presentation. See my review for the on-site restaurant, you're best off skipping it. That being said the WiFi worked well and the Maids were very cordial. Overall we weren't impressed for what we paid. We stayed at a much nicer hotel on our way home for almost 1/2 the price. I can't say I'll try another Best Western after this.

« We were on an ATV trip and wanted to be close to the trails. This was convenient, economical and well worth it. »

You can literally park and unload your ATVs and start your ATV trip at the edge of the parking lot. The hotel has maps for the state park that is adjacent to the hotel. The desk staff is very helpful answering questions about the trails. The rooms have recently been painted and the carpet replaced (still smells of new carpet). The beds are comfortable and clean. There is free WIFI and free breakfast in the mornings. There is a gas station located next door in case you need gas for your ATV. I pity the maids who had to clean our room because even though we were careful, we still managed to get dust all over from our clothes. We booked our trip through Expedia but found out when we checked in the room actually would have been cheaper through the hotel. The room temp was within our control and the constant fan noise provided the white noise I love. Still a great find.

    « Enjoyable! »

Passing through and had a pleasant experience in a lovely setting. Beds were very comfy and front desk was welcoming. Dining room food was acceptable. Lounge was comfy but bartender not very friendly. Breakfast was above average. If we pass this way again we will definitely stay again.

    « Great overall experience »

Very close to ATV trails, nice pool/hot tub to relax after a full day of riding, clean comfortable rooms for family, good food right on site, everything was recently updated. Nice staff and no wait time to check in. Definitely will return on our next ATV trip to Black River Falls, WI.

« Was just what we needed »

We stayed at this property the first weekend in June. It was definitely an older hotel, but clean. We sat in the hot tub and enjoyed the deck in the back of the property shown in the picture. It was super relaxing sitting around that table having a few drinks.

« Great service and rooms »

Had a bad experience at a hotel in the sane area, so I called Best Western. Best Western expressed how sorry they were about how poorly I was treated at the other hotel. They offered me a room at their hotel at discount. (They did not have to be so generous, my bad experience wasn't their fault.) Best Westerns rooms were very clean and comfortable. They have a restaurant in the hotel that is VERY GOOD and affordable. Great experience and people. Thank you Best Western

« Looks like they are renovating! »

Nice room for the price. New carpet in halls (still had that new carpet smell). Room looked like it had newer carpet. Bedding was okay, not the best bed I've ever slept in, but not bad for one night. Breakfast was okay, typical fare. Great place for just one night.

    « Barefoot Regional stay »

Everything was fine with the stay. They had our reservation. They explained the charges and took our vehicle information. The staff was nice and professional. I will be coming back in a weeks for the Barefoot Nationals.

« Good nights sleep despite full house »

We normally stay here at Christmas when there are fewer people. So was pleasantly surprised that second floor in south wing was relatively quiet despite the hotel being pretty full with ATVers and motorcyclists here for nearby event. Beds were comfortable. We stay here primarily because of microwave/refrigerator. I think the rooms were remodeled last year since microwave/refrigerator are now located in a nook that previously had a second sink vanity area. We appreciate the new quieter refrigerators. With mobility problems we needed the "elevator" which is a small noisy hand operated lift in the lobby. However it worked ok and no one else seemed be using it, so normally it was waiting on the floor where we left it. Breakfast is usual: make your own waffle, small pastries, hot dish (eggs and sausage when we were there) dried cereal, small yogurts, apples, oranges, juice, milk, ok coffee and tea. Sat/Sun am with many people the restaurant area was available for seating so we could breakfast looking out at the lake rather than in the noisy (tv) breakfast area. If you want better coffee, there is the Mocha Mouse next door .

    « Doing some updates »

Nice convenient stay. Right off the interstate. They have done quite a few updates since my stay last year. Rooms are nice, everything worked like it should. The pool/hot tub appear cleaner than my last stay. Fresh paint on the exterior of building (not my fav colors). Good continental breakfast.

« Not As Pleasant As Our Last Visit »

I have to downgrade my previous rating. We were there on a Saturday night. That may have made the difference. It was very busy. We got a room on first floor (111) as I am in a cast and am using a wheelchair. While it was nice to have a first floor room right by Entrance 3, this did not turn out to be a good choice. We were near the bar and restaurant and the weight room was right next door. There was noise in the hall all night. I got very little sleep. The bathroom door was very narrow. I was unable to get my wheelchair in. Even with my walker wedged sideways, it was a struggle to get in. Needless to say, I only used the bathroom for toileting. The door was too narrow for any people, even able-bodied. The room, itself, was crowded with furniture. It did not lend to relaxation. Their breakfast room is in the restaurant. We didn't expect much and it lived up to its reputation. There must have been a large group or two there that night as many people came to breakfast even at 0600. It was crowded. We did appreciate that there was a restaurant open in the hotel. We were satisfied with the meal we ordered.

« Solid, dependable option for a weekend scuba trip. »

I booked a room at the hotel because it is conveniently located to Wazee Lake for scuba diving. The room was immaculately clean, the bed and pillows were quite comfortable, the bathroom was roomy and the shower water pressure was good, and I was very happy to see a mini-fridge. Staff members were attentive and polite throughout our stay. I'm very, very pleased with the value for the money and plan to return on future trips to the area.

    « Okay »

We traveled from Indiana to Washington & Oregon and back. This place was unique, and it provided a place to lay our weary heads. However, for the money we paid, it was the most dated and the most money out of pocket. To be fair, they are doing some updating. The AC was cold and the shower was strong and hot! Pillows were perfect, but hopefully they will get new mattresses. Under the circumstances, I couldn't give more than a 3 out of 5 at this time.

« Not Worth the Rate Paid - Outdated - Service Lacked »

Stopped here on the way home from a Boundary Waters fishing trip. The rate was better than most other big hotel chains in the nearby towns but it was way over-priced for the condition of the hotel. We had a ground level room that smelled musty, the bathroom had the moldy smell to it, it was just not worth $120 a night for the room we got. Had I paid $90 then maybe but I've done a lot better for $120 a night than this. We checked in at Mid-Night and the front desk clerk could not find our reservation and the entire check in process was very complicated for her. We went to breakfast on Sunday morning with 45 minutes to spare before it closed down and there were multiple items they ran out of (OJ, Breads, etc). Overall I would say this place has been "over-rated". The bed and the room was clean for the most part and I typically like BW, but I would not recommend this BW to family or friends. Also the showers and toilets from nearby rooms were noisy.

« Nice hotel by the Highway »

I allways look for Best Western hotel, Allways Nice, the right price. Felle welcome, Good Comfort. This time was no different. Went by at night on drive to Chicago. we spotted the Best Western sign and drove up. Got Three Nice rooms. Price was nice. will stop by agai if we pass by and need ar room

    « Interesting place »

This hotel has a interesting story concerning the orange moose that figures prominently. There is a big orange moose outside the hotel and they sell orange moose t-shirts and stuffed animals. The hotel was also just off the I94 expressway and was convenient.

« Good hotel at a GREAT price »

No complaints whatsoever. We were astounded by the low nightly rate for a hotel comparable to surrounding hotels nearby that were literally $75 higher per night. The staff were great. The complimentary breakfast was comparable to or better than most. And you just can't beat an orange moose as a welcoming party!

« A great place that has everything you need »

We have stayed at this Inn before. It is consistently a good place to stay. Always clean, always friendly, and always reasonable. The Inn is very up to date with electronics as well. Good TV and internet. We were just traveling through but I did notice that there was even a small laundry mat on the premises. Convenient for the people that are using the State ATV trails. A great restaurant with an extensive menu. A nice cocktail lounge and a cheese shop next door. (Hey! you ARE in Wisconsin) Fuel stations very nearby. We had a great stay. I highly recommend this place.

« Old Fashioned Wisconsin Holiday »

Even though the sign says Best Western, the place could just as easily be called the Orange Moose. It may be clean and commercial, but it has a wonderful charm to it. The check-in is warm and personal. Our room was big but sort of funky shaped. Everything was very clean. The restaurant was good and the free breakfast was sumptuous. The grounds and the lake give it a resort feel.

    « Great location. Friendly...Needs a little TLC »

Rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was ok..eggs...some sort of meat, and the usual dry cereals, coffes, and juices. Saves a few bucks versus eating out. The hot tub was broke, which would have been a nice thing to sit in after riding all day, but.....Also, people complained about the ice machines, but people were also filling up their coolers with it. It is not meant for that. I HAVE A SUGGESTION. Install an ice machine and sell bags of ice. Could be a moneymaker. The restaurant was welcome addition, and along with the bar was well used. I would stay there again. Also, has a big pond for kids to fish in along with a few paddleboats. The only negatives, carpet needs updating, and our ac worked barely at best.

« Decent hotel, one major complaint »

It's a fine hotel - exactly what you'd expect at this price point and hotel brand. Everything was clean and serviceable. Staff was friendly and the wi-fi was fast. Free breakfast was standard free hot breakfast for this type of property, no complaints and saved me a trip in the morning. I've stayed here twice now, one on each side of the hotel. Both of the side doors I've used haven't been secured. They have card swipers but are unlocked so anyone can come and go. As a woman traveling alone this freaks me out and knocked off a star. Maybe this will get fixed as they continue to remodel? I hope so. I know my room is secure, yada yada yada, it just doesn't feel great, especially as the property is just off the interstate.

    « Immediate Unwind -- »

Always plan to stay two nights -- Black River Falls is a sleeper of a town, and the Arrowhead is the place to relax, and enjoy it -- not far from anything you need, and close to many things you never knew you wanted, like a copy of a 1963 Look magazine, home-grown honey, or an a polar plunge in the deepest lake in Wisconsin. The town has an Upnorth atmosphere -- fun funky taverns, lots of good junk shops -- and very hospitable population -- everybody is helpful. As for the Arrowhead, always clean and comfortable -- and over the winter, made some nice improvements to the rooms. Having a jolly bar on site, as well as terrific food is a huge plus, and the service is just outstanding. Last but not least, this facility has more of a resort than hotel ambiance, adjacent to endless forest, the back-woods is just round' back!

    « RZR rider »

Great place to stay! Rooms were very clean, beds were extremely comfortable. We have stayed here in past years. We going on 4-wheeling trips with friends. It's a plus you can get on the trails right from the hotel parking lot. The bar and restaurant have great service and the food is wonderful.

« Stopped for one night during our travel from Chicago to Minnesota »

The hotel looks very nice on the outside. The front desk gentleman was pleasant as was the nice lady who tended to the continental breakfast area. The lobby looked nice but our room was very small, dirty carpet and the bathroom was filthy. It appeared they tried to paint over some mold. I used the shower in the morning and noticed a lot of hair in the drain. The mattress was very "used" and in dire need of a replacement. The rates were a bit too high for the condition of the room. The continental breakfast was not impressive. We just had cereal and weak coffee.

    « I love this place! »

From the clerk at the front desk to the waitresses in the restaurant - everyone is nice, friendly and helpful. Dining in the restaurant is always enjoyable and the food is delicious! Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

    « Great get away »

Beautiful area with lots to do outdoors, great restaurant, loved the shrimp alfredo, love the setting, the hotel staff was very friendly, we will be back in the winter for some snowmobiling and casino trip

    « Sunday night stay »

It seems a lot of Best Westerns are remodeling carpets lately very nice on the bare feet. We stayed in a King bed room nice & spacious everything worked. We had a nice corner spot the vending & ice machine was almost across from us. Nice pool & hot tub; we made use of it the last hour of the night nobody else was in it so we had it to ourselves that was nice. The bed was comfortable to me. It was nice the drapes closed completely to darken the room to sleep in late. Noise level wasn't too bad in the hallways. The shower was great nice forceful stream. Nice to have a fridge to keep cold water in it or whatever leftovers we had from their restaurant. The heater worked very nicely or as my boyfriend would say it blasted him out lol. We would definitely come back here

    « Weekend Getaway »

Friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant on site. Rooms have refrigerator, microwave and wet bar. Location is close to the interstate. Just down the road from the casino. Very close to a WalMart Super Center. Had it not been for the remodeling, I would have given it an excellent.

« One stop has all »

Very nice hotel. Even though it is old it is very well kept and clean with modern updates. Restaurant is very good and the lounge is well stocked! Gas station and a coffee shop located across the street make this a very convenient place to stay.

« Great Breakfast, newly remodeled »

We were just passing through and didn't have reservations. Staff was very helpful and the room was large and comfortable at a fair price. The hot breakfast was amazing! For our family of 7 it was nice to have that included. The kids enjoyed the pool. Parts of the hotel were getting new carpet and the entrance outside was getting remodeled. When it is done I'm sure it will be even better.

    « Very nice »

We were just here for the night on business. Had a very comfortable room, enjoyed the bar and a late supper. There were several families having fun in the large pool & hot tub. In the morning we went down for a delicious buffet breakfast. I noticed you could sit out by a small lake that had paddle boats. Certainly worth the value.

    « Economical and nice .. »

We stayed here on our recent road trip. The room was very clean and updated but small. The hotel was in the process of a remodel. The staff was amazing. Great budget friendly option. There is a bar and restaurant on site.

    « Wouldn't stay anywhere else!! »

We always stay here when we are visiting family. The staff is great & they go out of their way for you. The hotel is always clean. The rooms are very comfortable. The bar/lounge area is very nice and the food in the restaurant is very good. The breakfast buffet is good as well. There is a pool which my grandkids love. We'll be back in June!

    « Nice Hotel »

I am a truck driver and stay at this hotel on a weekly basis. The hotel is a nice place to stay with very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel offers a restraint and lounge area with great food. I would recommend this hotel to others.

    « Fun »

We stayed at the Best Western in Blackriver Falls due to a family visit. We have stayed here before and have always had a good experience. Beds are comfortable and the staff in the Lounge area, and at check in are all pleasant and fun. Pool area looks inviting. Will check that out next time.

« Not up to standards »

Was not up to standards we would normally like to see. It was most disappointing to see that the morning staff were not welcoming to us (exception of the food service person). The dirty conditions and the use of loud construction was very odd.

« Great Place to Stay »

We came across the BEST WESTERN Arrowhead Lodge & Suites when we were looking for a getaway near a casino and Tomah. Got a very reasonable discounted rate for a three star hotel. Property is well kept and is in the midst of renovation. Room was spacious and clean with fridge and microwave and comfortable furniture. Restaurant and bar on site with good food and not overly priced drinks. Ryan, Vicki, and Ash were especially nice.Took very good care of us and were fun to talk to. Also have a relaxing indoor pool and hot tub. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Nice »

Love the fact that it has a restaurant and a bar right inside the hotel. The staff was very pleasant and willing to do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. The room was very clean, but could use some more insulation to make it quieter so you can not hear as much going on in the hallways.

    « Arrowhead Lodge »

We always have a good stay at the Arrowhead lodge. They do a lot of work there to keep the facility updated and modern. When a problem arises, they try very hard to correct it. We stayed at this hotel several times for family vacations. I stayed here many times on business as well.

    « Happy with Service »

Overall we had a great time. Great room, pool and whirlpool. BW is working to improve aged carpets and is dealing well with upkeep. Staffed worked well with us. It's nice to have a bar and restaurant on site to enhance relaxation and convenience. continental breakfast was also good, providing a great selection of opttions.

    « Very Nice Accomodations »

Stayed her for 4 nights for work. Didn't have to leave the hotel other than for work. Loved the Orange Moose Lounge and the bartender Ash's stories. Fitness center could use some updating though. I thought the continental breakfast was very good as well.

    « Arrowhead »

Clean. Exceptional complimentary breakfast. Rooms small and dated. Internet strong. Dining facility good with food very good. Bed not especially comfortable.Personnel friendly and helpful. Easy to find and located conveniently to address possible needs.

    « Relaxing stay »

Great service allowed us to enjoy a fantastic little get away. We had never been to this city; the front desk staff was very helpful with ideas of places that we may want to visit and area things to do. Will stay here the next time we are in the area.

« Clean and all inclusive »

The Hotel is extremely clean and has a wonderful restaurant and lounge. We had good service from the minute we checked in until the minute we checked out. There was a function in town the weekend we were at the hotel and the hotel was overrun with children. The staff did their best to control the "young guests" but in the end poor parenting won the battle and it was a little annoying to say the least. I do not fault the hotel for this at all. We have stayed at BRF before and it is usually very pleasant.

« Took a family trip to go skiing and tubing at Bruce Mound. »

I always have love staying at this hotel. They are very accommodating. This time the night manager Joel was very helpful. I will keep coming back. We took a trip to go skiing and tubing at Bruce Mound and had a fun day. Then we took a short drive to Black River Arrowhead Lodge and stayed. They provided us with a cot. We reserved a room for 4 but unexpectedly had a few more join us.

« Best Western Arrowhead Hotel/ Orange Moose »

First of all, you definitely cannot miss this place, right off of I-94 heading "up north" via western Wisconsin, the Orange Moose statue is a sight to see! Right in front of the hotel, he is quite the attraction! My husband and I spent one night here January 10. The staff could not have been nicer, accommodating and friendly. The hotel itself is comfortable, updated and very clean. This was actually our second time here, with the first time a few years back, that visit was also wonderful! The hotel has an in house restaurant, the Orange Moose Bar and Grill, where the food is good and the wait staff very good. There is a continental hot breakfast in the morning, the dining area super clean and organized and the food delicious. We definitely will return, and plan to spread the word about this wonderful place!

    « Front Desk Staff - Helpful & Accommodating »

There had been a misunderstanding regarding the type of room booked. The late-night front desk staff member, Fran was helpful & accommodating and assisted in providing us with the needed room size. Very much appreciated.

    « Great place..styed 2 different times! »

Hotel is good and restaurant has good food and they serve a nice warm breakfast. TV in lounge restaurant had the Packer football game on for us to enjoy while eating! Staff was friendly and helpful. Big orange Moose stands out with a fountain.

    « Will Stay again A+ »

very nice front desk people, clean rooms, Beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was hot and very good. The swimming pool our children enjoyed. We were here for a Hockey Tournament. A++ lajfljad0ieraadfja0ser9e adfkblker ale=ajlvnekrouag

« totally poorly organized and not clean. »

I reviewed this years ago and thought with the newer more flattering reviews it may have changed...NOT.. This place needs total makeover and sanitizing...mold is seen and smelled in bath areas and halls. I have a serious allergy to this and could tell right away. Staff did not appear to be well trained as to what was the restaurant..or in the area around this city. Do not eat here.....processed food and poor at that.Places in town are better.

« Poor Operation, Nice Facility »

Overall, this hotel is well kept and has nice ammenities. However, over a 3 night stay found it is pooorly run and disorganized. In our group did not have room ready until 8 pm. Another was checked into a room that was already occupied. Did did not receive housekeeping service on one day after being gone all day. Dined at the restaurant on 2 evenings & service was slow with order wrong one time and never came, so ate a McDonald's. Told cooking staff in a bad mood.

    « Good placeto stay »

The rooms were clean and comfortable. They were on the small side though. The staff was very friendly and professional. The Orange Moose Bar and Grill had high prices, the service was mediocre, and my food was average at best. Several of my co workers are there and were very pleased so maybe my experience was the exception, not the rule.

    « Horrible Experience »

We called over the phone & booked a handicap room 3 wks. prior to our stay. We recv'd a confirm # from the front desk & it was emailed to us. When we arrived, they gave our handicap room to a lady who booked online that didn't need a handicap room. My husband is handicapped & was in a lot of pain & just wanted to lay down. We had to wait 45 minutes for them to move lady out of our room B-4 we could go into it. We were both exhausted & very upset over this. Then we finally get into the room & it smelt very unpleasant & musty even with fan on & we both felt nauseous. There were NO accessible outlets on lamps or nightstands which we needed for our CPAP machines. It was extremely dirty behind nightstands when looking for outlets. Only found filthy dusty extension cords. We stayed here in the past & it was a lot better, so it has really went down hill since. The carpet NEEDS to be replaced. We WILL NOT stay here again. The staff did however, try to resolve this issue!

    « Overall good experience »

Let me start by saying this hotel is in a very convenient location. Right off the highway. Nice grounds. The staff was all wonderful, especially Ash in the bar area. The room was quiet and beds were comfortable. This would be a 5 star rating if our room would've been properly cleaned. There were a few issues with cleanliness that really did damper our opinion of the hotel. It was okay for the price but they definitely need to invest in higher quality cleaning to make sure guests are not distracted by the wrong things.

    « We'd definitely stay here again »

This motel is right off I-94 and easy to get to. The grounds were well maintained, lobby was clean and welcoming. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant on the premises (great food). There is also a Perkins close by and more restaurants on the other side of the Interstate. The motel is a very large, spread out 2 story building. There is an elevator, but we had to walk down a LONG hallway to get to it, and after getting to the 2nd floor, our room was at the end of another LONG hallway. Luggage carts were only in the lobby. It would be helpful to have a luggage cart by the other entrance doors that are closer to the elevator. Our room was large, clean and laid out differently than most motel rooms. There was a sink in the room as well as in the bathroom. There was a microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker. Also, there was an easy chair. Work desk was large with a comfortable desk chair. The beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was large and had nice touches such as a magnifying mirror on the wall, liquid soap & shampoo dispensers in the shower and a soap dispenser by the sink. The complimentary breakfast was in the restaurant and tasted very good. Besides the usual items, they had waffles, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage and breakfast potatoes.

    « Pleasant Stay »

When making plans to go to the annual CranFest in Warrens, WI, we realized that rooms were hard to find. Many people reserve one year in advance. I decided to look out of the area and came across this Best Western. We were pleased with our decision. The hotel has very nice property, a great restaurant and is close to the expressway. It was approx. 20 mins to Warrens. The rooms are rather small but clean. The front desk staff was so-so. We had one girl that was extremely pleasant & friendly but upon check out we had a guy that was the opposite. He was rude & argumentative when discussing our bill. He wanted to overcharge us. That was our only complaint. Would stay again.

« Not A Thing to Complain About! »

I am pretty fussy. I will complain if I feel I have been underserved in any way. This motel left me with nothing to complain about. A quiet, clean, comfortable room, reasonably priced. Friendly staff at Check-In, Check-Out, and even when we asked the house keeper what turned out to be a stupid question. The complementary morning breakfast was more complete in offerings, and GOOD, compared to standards in most places I've stayed. Just not a thing to take issue with. Really!

    « wonderful surprise »

Traveling through the area without a place to stay, the orange moose outside of this property caught our eye so we stopped to check it out and maybe have lunch. The lunch was fabulous, the bar manager was very professional and accommodating so we decided this was where we would stay for the night. It is a very clean, and comfortable place to stay and all of the employees we dealt with were superb. Thanks for a great anniversary place. Would definitely stay there again.

    « Oldie but goodie »

This is obviously an older hotel with an outdoor/Indian theme, which is fun and a little outdated. When you first turn on the water in the rooms (sink or shower), it runs brown, but then quickly clears up. However, the positive far outweigh the negatives for this hotel for me. First and foremost for me, is this is a non-smoking hotel. They take this seriously and if someone has been caught smoking in the rooms, not only are they subject to fines, but the great effort is made to remove the cigarette smoke odor (maybe a little too aggressively as the room smells like you have stepped into a baby powder bottle). Next is the in-house restaurant, the Orange Moose, which provides a good range of food very conveniently. Speaking of convenient, the hotel is right beside the interstate for very easy access. The grounds are beautiful with lots of walking space and activities.

« Nice place great value »

We enjoyed our stay and found the room clean and comfortable. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful and the hot breakfast was very good! Everything we needed for a reasonable price. We will choose this hotel again.

« One of the best cared for hotels I've ever stayed at. »

This hotel is conveniently located just off I-94. It's got an 'arrow' theme starting at the entrance where the overhang is supported by giant arrows. The lobby is appropriate for the area, a log cabin feel with a fireplace for the winter and a seating area to cozy up to when you're out on the trails in the winter. The restaurant/grill is located right off the lobby and I have a separate review for "The Orange Moose Bar & Grill". When I came in at 7 pm on a Thursday night there was a sign on the desk stating that the reservationist would be back in a minute and she was. She apologized for keeping me waiting, she was helping a guest in another part of the hotel and she was the only one on duty. She was very friendly and I wish I could remember her name. It was October 22 so whoever was on duty that night is well worth keeping around. She was juggling guests at the front desk and the phone ringing and never lost her composure. We got a room on the second floor overlooking the lake. The lake is between the hotel and the highway so this meant we had the potential for highway noise however the hotel is far enough away that it's just a background hum. The little lake is man-made and very nice with a little deck area that was lit up with a table out there to enjoy on a warm evening. The hotel was very clean. The room had a safe, closet area, ironing board, iron, mini refrigerator, microwave, tv, desk, and a comfortable chair along with the two queen beds. It was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The beds were comfortable with lots of big fluffy pillows and we slept well. The bathroom was large and had a light up magnifying makeup/shaving mirror, hair dryer, and the hand soap was mounted in a dispenser on the wall. I appreciated that as I hate the bar soap you usually get in hotel rooms. They also had the dispenser for the shower gel and shampoo in the shower. The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. Most importantly the free wifi was fast and reliable. Overall I would definitely stay here again and recommend others to as well. I've stayed in more costly hotels that weren't up to these standards.

    « Reliable Hotel »

This is the third time we have stayed at this Best Western hotel over the past 4 years and we have had positive experiences all 3 times. The room are spacious and comfortable. We like the fact that this property has a restaurant and lounge. The included breakfast is a definite plus to most other hotels. The rates are also quite reasonable. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

« Good for a quick stop on a road trip! »

My fiancé and I stopped as we were driving through. Quiet comfortable and clean. Great breakfast offered-I always love seeing biscuits and gravy at breakfast. We would stay again if passing through again! Make sure that you take a picture with the moose!

    « Comfortable Stay »

Unique hotel right off 94. My room was a slightly different configuration from the ordinary hotel room. It was comfortable, quiet, and just what was needed for a stop on my trip. The restaurant on site is only open for lunch and dinner but there is a Perkins across the pond on the property if you are wanting something other than the continental breakfast offered.

« Decent hotel next to highway exit »

My first thoughts on this hotel were pretty negative based on age and very outdated décor, but I admit the stay wasn't bad at all. The entire property needs some a major cosmetic update, but the positives outweigh that. The hotel is conveniently located right off the highway, has it's own restaurant and bar, is near trails, and just a short drive/walk to downtown Black River Falls. I choose this one because it was pet friendly and it was great for that need. There is a lot of room to walk around, including a large lake that the hotel cups. The Orange Moose, the on-site restaurant was serviceable and is a pretty good on-site option for dining and drinks.

    « A great place to stay »

We were just passing through Black River Falls. We loved this hotel as it is a "one stop" place for all of your needs. They even have a small laundry mat on the premises. That makes sense as we noticed a lot of ATV's on trailers in the parking lot. It is our understanding that they are at the trailhead of the Wisconsin State Trail. The food was delicious, the room was extremely clean, and the lounge was very pleasant. Gasoline, and a fudge shop are just next door. The morning breakfast (included with the room) was very good. The eggs, sausage, and potatoes were great. There was so much that I would run out of space trying to include everything available. People were friendly as you would expect in Northern Wisconsin. A great place to stay.

    « x »

we were back for funeral Arrowhead was close to family and was clean and was fine I use a wheelchair and rooms were easy to get to. In the past when we have stayed with family we always stopped at bar for drinks and visiting with friends and have eaten there many times if not this tine

    « Checking in »

We were there 35 minutes early to check in and was told you cannot check in until 3:00 and she was rude about it. She could of said I am sorry our policy is you cannot check in until 3:00. Another customer came in 10 minutes later and was pulling his luggage and carrying shirts on hangers and also had a medical boot on and was also told you cannot check in until 3:00. We wanted to get into our room and change our clothes so we could go ATV riding.

« Hotel fine dont eat food. »

We have stayed at this hotel before and I will say the outside appearance is much worse than the inside appearance. What ever you do do not eat at the Hotel restaurant. The food was cold, took an hour to get and the help is not to willing to remedy any problems. As far as the rooms go they are roomy and comfortable.
