« Fabulous hotel, spa and fine dining »

My husband and I booked this hotel at the very last minute for our wedding anniversary. We gave less than 24 hours notice and they managed to book us in for the superior package, fine dining for that night, breakfasts, buffet lunch the next night, use of the spa and we also had a complementary bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival. They even managed to accommodate a request for getting us an anniversary card and bottle of prosecco as a surprise from a family member with just a couple of hours' notice. All the staff treated us like royalty and we were impressed that they remembered our names when there were over 100 guests. They all made our weekend very special and I would definitely return. Well recommended.

« Best Western Moor hall Hotel and Spa »

The Moor hall Hotel and Spa maintains a proper hotel experience with old world style and traditional commitment to service. The full English breakfast is excellent with so many choices. Just ask the reception for anything and they will try to accommodate your request.

    « Perfection »

Came here for our annual girls weekend away and can't speak highly enough of this place. Fantastic bedroom, lovely spa facilities, delicious food and friendly staff especially Mila and Carlos in the Oak Room restaurant. Can't wait to return ??

    « Fantastic Staff »

We've used Moor Hall a couple of times this year for events in the large banqueting room and each time I've been impressed by how smoothly the venue has made it for us. We do a lot of events at various different venues and having helpful and attentive staff makes a real difference, Moor Hall could not do enough for us and remembered the small quirks from when we were there previously. The buffet was delightful and the biscuits that were served with our teas and coffee were a lovely treat.

    « Fantastic staff »

I thought this place was pretty good value for money. Great location and a pretty interior, but most of all, the staff throughout the hotel were excellent. The full breakfast buffet was really good. Didn't have an opportunity to use the spa or gym - something to try next time...

    « Disappointing. »

My husband and I visited Moor Hall for an overnight stay as a little pre Christmas treat to ourselves. We have been fairly regular visitors since we had our wedding reception there 15 years ago and have always been very happy with the service we have received and the overall experience. It is a place which holds very happy memories for us. However, we are unsure whether we will return now. Check in was fine and our room comfortable, if a bit dated. The bathroom has obviously been refurbished and was fresh and modern. The shower, however, had zero pressure and was little more than a trickle. Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. As part of our stay, dinner in the Oak Room was included so we headed to the bar at about 8pm for a pre dinner drink ahead of our 8.30 booking. My husband informed the barman that we were had arrived and that our table was booked for 8.30. Normally we would be given a menu to peruse and our order taken before being seated. We observed this happening with all other guests. 8.30 came and went with no one coming to take our order. We waited until 8.45 and reminded the barman of our booking. He then went to find the restaurant manager, returning a few minutes later to tell us our table was ready. I'm not sure how much longer we would have been left to wait if we hadn't reminded the barman. In fact, we actually felt invisible. This is something that we have never experienced at Moor Hall. When we were finally seated at 8.50, service was prompt and the food of a very good standard. Following a nightcap, we retired to our bedroom at about 11.45. We were conscious at that point that our room was nearly above the Charter Suite where an event was taking place. It was very loud ( to be expected and we had no issue with this) but we felt that the music would probably stop at 12, 12.30 at the latest. At 12.45am, the music was still playing at full volume making it impossible to sleep. We fully understand that there will be events at hotels and have no problem with other guests enjoying themselves. However, we felt that this was just too late for patrons who were not part of the event. We should have been placed in a room away from the Charter Suite where we would not have been disturbed. My husband phoned reception at 12.45 informing them that we could not sleep due to the noise. He was told it would go off at 1pm (it finally went off at 1.10am). It did not make for a relaxing time unfortunately. The following morning, we enjoyed our breakfast in the Country Kitchen and the nice receptionist apologised for the late music when we checked out which we acknowledged and were grateful for. However, this (and the less than satisfactory service prior to dinner) definitely marred our visit and we don't feel we will return in a hurry. This is a great shame as Moor Hall is a place very close to our hearts.

    « It's a shame »

I was here for my sister's wedding I wasn't allowed to check into my room beforehand. The staff were kind enough to allow me to leave my things in reception. And then lose my trainers. But there was 'nothing we can do'. Lovely building though. And my sister is still married.

    « Going downhill »

We pre-booked and paid for two superior rooms. On arrival, at 4.15pm, we were asked for a credit card to pay for the rooms and, when I explained they were already paid for, I was made to feel embarrassed and wait there for 10 minutes until the manager was free to doublecheck. We were, of course, proved to be right. I did not like the receptionist's attitude and felt insulted by her manner Our superior double room was on the ground floor with a horrible view of the carpark. The other superior room was on level two with a nice view of the garden. We were due to go to a family party that evening, so just ate a small meal in the oak room before leaving. Our meat antipasti consisted of two packets of supermarket meat with some stale bread and a small bowl of oil. There were none of the usual artichokes, peppers and Parma ham which you would expect from such a dish. The beefburger was covered in mayonnaise despite being requested to be plain. Breakfast was delicious, served in the restaurant. We were attended to by a wonderful waitress called Jenny. She really was so elegant and kind and was the redeeming feature of Moor Hall. I hope her managers appreciate her. I feel that the rooms are overpriced and things are not what they used to be here. I have visited here many times and did not enjoy this stay as much. I have paid this price for rooms elsewhere in the country and received much better customer service and value for money.

    « Anniversary treat »

Looked this hotel up for a treat for my wife, found it on the internet. Contacted hotel as wanted a few extras as a surprise, flowers and wine.lady on phone was very helpfully arranged everything and upgraded our room at my request. Turned up a bit early but that wasn't a problem.lady at reception was just as helpfull ,went through everything the hotel offered and gave us our room. Our room was lovely, clean, little bit dated but still impressive, lovely bed, very comfortable.we went to the bar ordered some food ,wife very impressed at quality of sandwiches, but coffee was a bit weak.my club sandwiches and tea was excellent. The hotel is a mix of old and new but very vice to the eye, very relaxing.ideal for family gathering s,but price wise you would have to enquire. Our evening meal was great we settled for carvery, nice food, well cooked, not spoiled by leaving out too long.the one thing I did notice was that all the staff were so polite and attentive and I must ask the management to pass on our thanks to the dark haired waitress who served us that night,a credit to your restraunt.the young manager was was around to ensure all was well but with staff like her he had no worries.I can say along with my wife that's the best service we have received in a long while.breakfast was same attentive staff, tables cleared at your request.Sunday morning wife had spa treatment which she enjoyed. All in all we had a nice stay.I will pic up on negative point first Bathroom lamp on left of mirror not working, small areas of black mould round bath, bottom of glass shower screen showing signs of soap ingress very noticeable.room furniture showing signs of age.and the one thing I wanted was the flowers in the room on arrival.unfortunately they were not.however they did turn up an hour or so later after I spoke to the manager who was most apologetic. We found noise from guests returning to rooms from functions but the hotel does remind guests to be quiet. On the positive side ,plenty of parking, very attentive staff, nice surroundings, very nice building full of surprise snugs.very good food, and I will say again your dark haired waitress in the restraunt that night 12.11.16 does deserve recognition.

    « Poor treatments »

We stayed overnight at the hotel and spa for a friends 30th. The hotel and bar staff were amazing and could not do enough for us.. But my rating of poor is down to the treatments at the spa. I had a back neck and shoulder massage which was supposed to last for 30 mins and it was less than 20 mins. Not impressed at all! I would definitely come back to the hotel.. But wouldn't have any treatments.

    « Spa day disaster »

I have been to many spa days and I brought this off Groupon and treated my friend for her birthday which was to be her first spa day experience. Four of us went and unfortunately i have to say it's the worst spa I have ever been too and felt embarrassed that I had built up for my friend what it would be like. On arrival we were told by a leisure member of staff what to expect we were then offered tea and coffee which was great but had to send the milk back as it had a dark hair in it, we laughed it off. My first impressions of Moorhall was very tired and dated in desperate need of a refurb. We finally went into the reception part to be shown the facilities I could not believe the facilities which were offered. The changes rooms being used also for leisure members are so small you can fit about 5-6 maximum in there and it proved difficult as two ladies clearly leisure members felt they had a right over us to get changed, the facilities in the changing rooms are not set up for spa day members too. The toilets early morning had tissue all over the floor and the bins were over flowing. Hoping it would get better we went into the pool area and unfortunately there is very limited beds and table area which were all taken so we got straight in the jacuzzi, usually jacuzzis are a lot warmer than the pool in this case it wasn't slightly disappointed. We stayed in the pool area for no more than half an hour and decided to get some lunch. If I am honest the difficulty merely getting dressed in the smallest changing room ever I felt the facilities were not worth the while in going back after lunch. So lunch was preordered and we were taken to the Oak Room, the room looked like something out of "faulty towers", extremely dated table clothes which look like they need to be thrown away. We ordered sandwiches and a Caesar salad with chips, one of the gym instructors delivered two sandwiches to us after waiting 20 minutes then we had to wait another 10 minutes for the other two lunches. Lunch was fine and we were served by a lovely polite young man called Luke who clearly has excellent customer service skills and a real credit to Moorhall. Our treatments were booked in for 2 & 2.30pm so we went to the spa area before you go in for your treatments which is a bizzare room designed by someone who seems to love twiggs, the feeling is that they are trying to make it a spa but it just does not work and is tired and dated. Without going into too much detail through out the day 3 of us had upset stomachs and one of my friends was so bad had to go a couple of times during her treatment very embarrassing. There was no toilet facilities upstairs in the spa area so had to race downstairs back to the changing rooms to use the loo's once again these had not been cleaned or bins emptied from earlier. Treatments were nice although once again compared to other spas I have been to there was no explaining prior to or questions asked or anything about the products used which perhaps is just what I am used to and get everywhere is different but always think it's a nice touch. Well we all decided it was not worth the hassle using the facilities as it seemed difficult in the changing rooms and the facilities were just disappointing so we went to the bar. Once again Luke served us and I have to say on a disaster of a spa day he put a real shine on it and had it not been for him we would of left and gone elsewhere. There was no where to sit and so he went and found us somewhere upstairs with lovely little fire place just perfect and there we stayed till 6pm drinking and laughing about the whole disaster of a spa day but had loved catching up. Moorhall is just not set up for spa days to take place and it dosent flow at all in any area of what a "good spa day" should be, I felt really embarrassed that I had brought this for my friends birthday present. The facilities are far too small and crammed to have new people and members there and also as I said before is to "faulty towers for me, there's a lot of older clients who clearly go there the same time every week and therefore your made to feel they have priority. The spa day for four cost £160 & we the. Went on to spend £120 had it not been for the lovely attentive Luke we would have gone and spent that money somewhere else. I thanked him and informed his Supervisor how absolutely spot on he had been and is a real credit to Moorhall, thanks Luke.

« Lunch in lounge bar »

I went to The Lounge Bar for a casual lunch while I was between appointments in my day. In recent times my experience has not been satisfactory for a four star hotel. Sadly what used to be a pleasant experience is now over priced and average. Moor hall have been undergoing a revamp for the past few months and in my opinion the lounge bar seems to have been forgotten, the menu variety is limited and the service alongside it is appalling. For a simple sandwich with chips it cost over £12 (not including drink) and the service is lacking. I have been coming back to try and give Moor Hall a second chance but unfortunately it seems to be getting worse each time I visit.

    « Impressed »

Stayed one night for an event at the NEC. Arrived after a long drive at this lovely location up a pretty driveway to this very attractive hotel. Slight delay checking in as only one person on Reception but on entering my room was impressed with the size and facilities. Large charming room with a huge bed and yet cosy and warm. Large flat screen TV and a huge bathroom. Plenty of storage space and tea/coffee, fruit and mineral water provided. Cleanliness was excellent - absolutely immaculate. Nice view out of window over garden. Went for a swim in the Spa. Lovely pool beautifully lit and calming in the conservatory section, again immaculately clean and a great way to chill after a long drive. Charming staff at the bar, polite and welcoming. Next morning had a delicious breakfast, again charming staff and perfectly cooked poached eggs and excellent buffet. I would have stayed another night but they were full! I can see why. Would highly recommend this Hotel. *****

    « Really great hotel! »

The building itself is beautiful inside and out. The staff were very helpful on arrival and even provided us a phone charger as we'd forgotten ours. excellent hotel staff, the room was small but had everything we needed including complimentary chocolates and biscuits. One of the best parts about our stay was the high quality bed, one of the best nights sleep we've had. During our stay we visited the spa which is a really great addition to the hotel. Once again staff there were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was full of options and all to a very high standard. Negatives? There really isn't any, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend. We shall definitely return!

    « Mr D Jones »

I visited Moor Hall Hotel last weekend for a table in oak room, which by the way was exceptional. On arrival at the terrace bar we were greeted by a lady call Angie, what a refreshing change to be made to feel so welcome & served with such professionalism. Well be back again well done all & thank you.

    « OK »

Hoped for a relaxing break away in relaxing surroundings. Although pleasant and very clean, the room and bathroom were dated and the walls paper thin! I could actually join in with the conversation of those in the room next door! Corridors are very narrow and doors bang. Breakfast was a self service buffet and had everything you could want. Unfortunately we turned up at a busy time and had to wait in reception for 10 mins for a free table. Whilst I didn't use the spa/gym facilities they looked good and had this been a business stay I would have used them. I wouldn't stay again as bathroom not of a good enough standard but at the right price it is ok.

    « Pleasant enough »

Stayed here for two nights as we were visiting the NEC and it was convenient enough for that. Nice grounds and golf course surrounding the hotel. Booking in was fine but nothing special. We had to walk through a conservatory area to get to our room which was absolutely freezing. In general the hotel was very under heated - we stayed mid October. Our room was alright but cold and we had to turn up the heating, the radiator really wasn't big enough for the size of the room. The bathroom really needed refurbishing, it was very dated with the odd crack and mouldy bits around the place. There was a small vanity mirror where the glass was loose and was in danger of falling out at any moment, we mentioned this to reception after our first night along with the fact that the safe didn't work as the batteries had run out but nothing was done during our stay. There are two restaurants and the first night we ate at the smarter one, can't remember the name. Staff were very helpful, well trained and attentive. I started with excellently cooked scallops and we both had steak for the main course which was well presented and the upmarket chips were superb. The second night we ate in the carvery where although the waiting staff were friendly there was a distinct lack of training- wine bottle was just plonked on the table with no question of whether we would like to try it or at least have the first glass poured out for us. It is a set price for three courses with coffee which to be fair was good value. The entree salad bar was a bit tired and unimaginative but I couldn't fault the carvery from the excellent chap who served us who was polite, friendly and a credit to the hotel to the excellent quality of the meat. As said in my title, a pleasant enough stay but I wouldn't stay here again.

Visited for a casual dinner with a friend. We had fish & chips, burger, prosecco & g&t. Food was very nice. Greeted with a smile by Angie. She was lovely, polite & was working very hard! Very pleasant lady. Will return again to try the country kitchen or oak room

    « Stuck in a time warp »

The one redeeming feature of this hotel is that most of the staff are nice. However nothing else really is. I stayed here for 2 days and I found the food average especially breakfast and the rooms drab. Bathrooms have been refurbed but they are ill thought out. Just overall an average experience in a tired hotel.

« Murder Mystery Night was amazing! »

This property has such a lovely feel to it. Room was spacious with a lovely massive bathroom. Staff here are incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had booked in for the murder mystery night.... such good fun, really well organised. Food was great. Well worth the visit, definitely recommend staying here.

What a pleasant suprise I reserved a table for three in the oak room for Sunday lunch my first visit to this hotel the food and service was very good,The chef certainly knows how to cook a superb English roast with all the trimmings, hard to find these days. We look forward to returning to the oak room for more of this fare, and would like to thank all the staff for a pleasant lunch nothing seemed to be to much trouble.

« Birthday, Murder, Mystery Celebration »

I was invited to celebrate a friends milestone birthday with an invite to Moor Halls Halloween Murder Mystery Night, having never been to such a thing i duly accepted Moor Hall is just outside the main shopping area of Sutton and is approached up a tree lined drive it was dark when i visited but there looked to be substantial grounds on the approach to the imposing hall and golf club. The entrance hall had a fire in it and 2 large backed chairs that looked as though they would have been at home in the tale of Alice in Wonderland there were all sizes of rooms some large function rooms, some small cosy snugs, some for dining, some just for relaxing with a drink and hallways and corridors of various sizes ( my friend commented it s like a rabbit warren) . all of it however was clean and pleasant and staff encounterd very friendly and helpfull in directing you. The evening itself was enjoyable and different and suitable for all age adults, our group of 40, joining with other groups around tables of 8 making about 200ish in the room. The meal and entertainment were intertwined with a scene been set, followed by !st course, then some more story and scene/sound setting allocations per table, (audience participation similar to pantomime required) followed by main meal, more clue gathering and consolodating facts followed by dessert and then the writng of the lymeric and your tables answer of who and why and how followed by coffee and the correct answer and the presentation to the winning team. The food was pre -arranged from a choice of 3 per course and i personaly found it very good taste wise but would have liked to have seen a server of veg on the table as vegetables were minimal and the chicken looked lost on the plate having said that my dessert ( Pear Frangipan ) was much larger than expected. All in all a good night a lovely venue, good food and good company. Would consider this hotel for a celebration in the future and would do another murder mystery night.

    « Good Weekend Break »

Booked a standard double room at this Hotel for a short break. The two main reasons for picking this Hotel were location and the spa facilities. The room itself was basic and smelt of damp, was very old fashioned and could do with a refurb! The same could be said of the en suite. The room was however clean and tidy. Our room was cleaned daily but we found that used glasses/mugs were not being replaced and we ran out of soap. The front desk did organise for new soap to be sent up on request. The room rate we chose included breakfast in the Hotel restaurant. This was served in a hot buffet format and was excellent. Plenty of hot and cold options. You could also order vegetarian sausages at no extra charge. The spa was fantastic; we went in the early evening when it was very quiet (assume people were getting ready for dinner). The spa area itself is very modern, it included a pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and loungers. There are large windows for looking out over the beautiful grounds. The hotel provides robes and slippers for use in the spa but they forgot to put slippers in our room. We also found paper tickets belonging to previous guests in our robes. I wonder how well these were cleaned. On checking out, there was a bride waiting to pay and the hotel made her wait behind other guests which we found a little odd. The guests themselves asked her to go ahead. They also added a meal to our bill which we didn't have, and on complaining got told they ?would have to take my word for it', as though I was pulling their leg. Overall, a nice weekend away, with some minor issues here and there.

    « Spa break »

Lovely place to get away. Disappointed with the room, very small and TV didn't work. The pool was very busy but we enjoyed it overhaul. We had treatments also which were nice. Breakfast wasn't good, it was set up in both restaurants as it was so busy. Main one was full, so got sent to the other restaurant. Most things were empty, even though there was 1/2 hour left. Got told to sit down and someone would come to us, after 20 mins waiting we asked again, then got an apology.

« Fantastic hotel more than 5 stars »

This has to be the best hotel we have been to do far. The staff were fantastic the good was excellent and the rooms were clean. We had one of the suites and it was very spacious comftable bed with a double spa bath and double shower. Great for a relaxing romantic break. The spa and facilities were also fantastic. Will be recommending it to friends and family and anyone.

    « Nice 'n relaxing... »

Stayed here for several nights whilst working in area. Check-in was friendly and efficient. Slight walk to room, but easy to fine and well signposted. Room itself was adequate and well proportion with normal extras incl trouser press. Bed was comfortable. Good WiFi signal. Ate in bar area. Nice atmosphere with real fires and various offshoot rooms. Food was...ok, not amazing - just ok. Swimming and spa area incl sauna, steam room and gym. Breakfast was tucked away in a funny odd shaped room that resembled a greasy cafe in atmosphere. Breakfast was ok. Buffet style. Certainly would stay here again next time I was in the area. Parking may be an issue if spa is busy.

    « Fantastic overnight stay »

We stayed here for 1 night recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The receptionist was extremely pleasant and efficient. We were upgraded to a lovely, spacious room with all you need such as tea, coffee and chocolate, along with plenty of toiletries. We ate in the Oak Room and the meal and service were both excellent. We chose duck and ham hock for starters, chicken and sole for main and shared a chocolate mousse for dessert. All were superbly cooked and presented. We would also like to thank Pedro and Javier for their attention and great service. Breakfast was also very nice and it is good to see that the hotel uses locally sourced products.

« Really nice staff awful experience »

This beautiful looking Grand Hotel played home to my stepfathers 80th Birthday party on Sunday, on arrival our room was not ready and they stated check in as 3.00 pm so we asked could they telephone us when the room was ready, we had a nice function room for the 60 plus guests and the serving staff were both friendly and helpful, unfortunately the meals for the tables(approx 8 per table but 10 on ours ) seemed to be on an ad hoc basis, we had pre ordered our meals some weeks before most of our table had chosen the beef, 1 had chosen sea bass and one chicken. These were brought to our table but none of the beef. along with a fairly large serving of vegetables. The two diners with their meals started and finished and still no beef. Some 40 minutes later the beef arrived, it was fairly tasteless, but blade of beef often is so perhaps a poor choice and between 8 of us we had x1 bowl of vegetables these ran out after 5 people had had a medium size portion each. We asked for more and some minutes later a separate bowl of vegetable arrived but we were advised no potatoes were left, we had joked with the staff serving us who ver every apologetic and good humoured. By six o clock I had still not received a phone call for my room being ready so asumptively went to reception, true enough my key card was handed to me . On entering the room there were x2 blood stains on the sheets, i advised reception and 15 minutes later someone arrived and agreed it was blood , we showered changes to go to the bar for the evening , still no change of sheets, I advised reception on our way down. At the bar I ordered drinks and was told I could not put these on my bill until I returned to reception and gave them a card, obviously standard practise but we had never been asked to do this at reception. On returning to our room the sheets had been replaced, the too (125) was very warm, with no obvious control of heating available, we had to therefore open a window, following an awful nights sleep due to the main boiler for the hotel being on constantly till 5.30 in the morning, breakfast was a really good choice except there were no eggs and bacon in the buffet style bain marie tins, it was a little bit of a laugh at this point, and made me think that of a popular Torquay hotel. On check out I discussed some of these issues with the Manager who agreed to clearing my bar bill of £42.00 , I felt this whole experience was such a shame Im fairly local to the hotel (15 miles) and had heard many good reports , perhaps this was a one off experience but seemed a catalogue of situations that made my stay not a good one

« Great hotel, rubbish soundproofing! »

Arrived for a girlie weekend break and was checked in quickly. Hotel and surroundings are gorgeous! Were allocated room 2, not far away from reception. Went to carvery restaurant for dinner which was lovely. At bed time we settled down for (what we expected to be) a good night's sleep. Then, shortly after, the people in the room above arrived back at their room. No talking heard but the sound of the creaky bed was as loud as if it were in our room! They walked around the room a fair bit (maybe a late check in) and every footstep thudded through the ceiling. Then they went to bed and j thought peace would reign. But no, the people next door returned to their room in the early hours laughing and joking. Which is fine, I'm all for fun, except it sounded as though they were at the head of our bed! The cheers of "mmm, pizza!" at about 2am, followed at about 5am by the sounds of someone being violently ill, have led me to believe that perhaps the local takeaway isn't that good. Other than sound issues and the room being really hot with no air conditioning (easily remedied by opening the windows) this is actually a lovely hotel and I would be prepared to return. I would ask for a better soundproofed room though

My room was small and cold, and a long way from reception. The promised bathrobe was there, but not the promised slippers; two light bulbs were out; and I had to choose between kettle and radio due to shortage of power points. The radio reminded me of listening to Luxembourg as a child; crackly with very low volume, basically a waste of time having one there. Highlight was breakfast which was very good.

Perfectly adequate. Staff really nice and helpful but misses some of the nice touches you get in some other hotels. Very nice surroundings and a great looking place. There's a golf course next door which looked interesting. Should have taken my clubs!

« Dissapointed with customer service!! »

Stayed with my friend via a groupon deal. When we arrived to our room there was no dressing gown and no slipper, i asked for some and it took hours to come by this time ive been n used the gym n got back. We then had a meal in the carvey section we were allocated a slot 9pm may i add for tea and couldnt change it?!! When we got there there were no puddings left just slop, the carvey was dry and had been there hours and the starters and salad bar was taking away literaly as i sat down to eat my soup! We then had a rude encounter with a member of staff. I emailed customer service AND the manager direct who has ignored two of my emails... nice! Lovely place and beautiful breakfast but i think SOME staff members let it down. No urgency and no sorry for the way we were treated.

    « Mother/Daughter weekend »

We arrived at the hotel a little early so we asked if we could leave our bags behind reception and off we tripped to the Terrace Bar. There was a birthday celebration going on in one of the dining rooms but most of the guest were in the bar so it was rather packed. We ordered a bottle of wine and some cheese sandwiches. We took the wine to a table outside on the terrace - they do have outdoor heaters, which is nice. We sat talking for a while because we hadn't seen each other for quite a time and then we realised that we had nearly finished the wine and our sandwiches hadn't arrived. My daughter went to the bar to enquire. They arrived quite a bit later and were rather 'hard' on the outside. We deduced (like Sherlock Holmes) that they had been made when ordered and then forgotten about. Anyway, we soldiered on. We collected our bags and went to our rooms. Very nice modern shower room in both rooms but unfortunately teemed with an 70s themed bedroom so the effect was a bit lost. Comfortable beds though. We then head off to the spa which is very pleasant, although we didn't know what we should take with us, robes, towels etc. It would be good to have an explanation in the room so you know what to do. Dinner was interesting. I'm a vegetarian so there wasn't a lot of choice for me, which I'm used to by now. We ate in the carvery but the food was very disappointing. The quality wasn't good and the vegetables tasted like they were frozen and heated up. The hotel itself is in a lovely location and the Autumn colours set it off a treat. Unfortunately the weekend wasn't so much of a treat as we'd expected but we did have a giggle.

« Set in beautiful surroundings »

This is a fantastic hotel either for a break or a function. I organised a charity event here at the end of September 2016. The staff and event organisers bent over backwards to help me. When arranging large functions it is always a worry that the food will not be as good when catering for larger amounts of people. There was no need to worry - the food was excellent. My husband and I often go for Sunday lunch in the carvery which always has a great selection of everything.

    « Very dated & tired ! Breakfast is a shambles »

Stayed here for one night as we were attending a party near by. The rooms are very very tired and in desperate need of a refurbishment. I had to call reception when we got into our room as there was still some clothing left on the dresser from a previous guest.... Breakfast was a complete shambles with many people complaining. We waited over 25 minutes to be served tea & coffee and many people had eaten their breakfasts before they were given tea or toast. The breakfast is a buffet, food was plentiful but barely warm. When the toast finally arrived this was also cold The breakfast staff didn't seem to know what they were doing and they seemed very understaffed considering the room was full. I noticed a few families turned away as they didn't have any tables available !! I wouldn't stay at this hotel again

    « Family Birthday lunch »

19 ranging in age from early 20s to 96, all sat and enjoyed a 3 course lunch. Great service, good food, lovely location and reasonably priced. All the staff were very accommodating, especially Daniel who worked his socks off. Thank you for making my 65th birthday a real success.

« One night stay with breakfast and spa for two »

This family run hotel, restaurants and spa was beyond what we had expected. Easy to find, signed posted well and plenty of space to park Clark securely. On arrival we was slightly early however luckily a room was ready and due to us visiting overnight for a specially occasion the hotel staff upgraded us from a standard room to a superior room on them (free of extra cost) We was offered help with luggage, was giving all the hotel, restaurants, breakfast and spa information from hotel staff at desks. Both of us pleasantly surprised when we got to our room which was clean to perfection, had a lovely view, spacious and welcoming. A knock at the door and a card was delivered to us to wish us both on our specially occasion. The spa was fantastic, clean and peaceful. The restaurants are amazing! Room service available until late!! The staff members are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much for them and over all I would go back and recommend to my family and friends! Thank you to all the staff members!

« Mrs coles to be »

Stayed here for one night with my fiancé, it was a night away for my birthday. My other half contacted the hotel to tell them it was my birthday and upon arrival I had a card and cake! Very nice touch! Also the lady on reception who was lovely wished me a happy birthday! The room was lovely, and bathroom very impressive! Underfloor heating was amazing! Spa facilities were great, very clean and never ovally crowded. Breakfast the next morning.. well, when we arrived it looked like we picked a busy time! But the lady who took our room number found us a table quickly, bought us tea and toast & was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was gorgeous! Loads of choice and tasty too! Only thing I would have to mention was check in was quite late at 3pm, but didn't really matter as we went out for a couple of hours before arriving at hotel. Thanks moor hall for a lovely stay!

    « Lovely stay »

Both myself and my partner stayed overnight at this hotel. The food was wonderful and the room itself was very nice with a wonderful view of the hotel grounds! I would highly recommend to anyone. We will definitely be returning again.

    « Spa Experience »

Although we have not stayed at the hotel, we are regular users of the spa facility. Cant fault the staff or the lunch. The facilities are lovely and clean and the treatments wonderful. However, although it clearly states 'all mobiles must be turned off' on the door of the relaxation room our last visit was spoiled by a group of 4 'members' who when we entered the rooms were talking loudly and playing loud music on a mobile phone. When I commented on this to our beautician she said that they had had many complaints from other visitors but nothing had been done. This ruined what was an otherwise perfect day. Please sort this out Moor Hall - you obviously know who these people are.

This place is just beautiful to stay or just to eat. The food is expensive but expect a high quality meal and service! Great wine selection as well! The property is well maintained and has the wow factor- I would highly recommend!

« Tired and in need of facelift »

A lovely building with lots of character but rooms are more than tired and over priced. Minimal amenities in the rooms and the one I had was very noisy. Breakfast was good but service very slow. Disappointing for the price paid.

« Good all round venue »

I use this hotel on business quite a lot but my measure of a good hotel is whether I would take my wife there for a leisure break. This hotel hits the mark. It has character, nicely appointed rooms, good choice of bar food and restaurant and the staff are very friendly. In addition it has good leisure facilities and is situated next to a golf course. The only thing I would watch out for is that because it is used Monday to Thursday a lot for business visitors the rates can be a little high during the week. It does depend on what's on locally but I have found that from Thursday night into the weekend you can usually pick up a reasonable rate. T

    « Disappointing stay »

We stayed here in September 2016, and were very disappointed, upon arrival we were unable to book any spa treatments, even though it had been booked as a last minute deal. The first night we had our dinner included in the price it was a carvery which was hardly palatable, with the exception of the meat which was lovely. The second evening we ate in the main restaurant and the food here was lovely. Our room was also not cleaned to a standard you would expect from a hotel of this calabar. All in all a very disappointing last minute break.

Have enjoyed staying at Moore Hall, staff friendly & helpful. Good location for Birmingham but due to setting you feel as though you are in the country. Oak room restaurant, lovely meal, ambience just right.

    « Ladies who Lunch »

We recently visited Moor Hall for a Spa Day which was given to us as a Christmas Present. We have visited several times before and have always found the staff to be helpful and welcoming and they did not disappoint. The staff member on arrival was extremely attentitive and gave us a very warm welcome. We had a lovely day and felt very relaxed after our Massages/Indian Head Massage/Manicures. The new Relaxation Room is wonderful I particularly enjoyed lounging in here reading my book. Very impressed with this and hope it will be there next time I visit. We enjoyed a lovely lunch upstairs overlooking the grounds. Overall another very enjoyable day which we are very much looking forward to doing again.

    « Great Stay »

I stayed at the Moor Hall for 3 nights in September for work. Although the decor may be considered a little tired and datedin the room I had everything I needed for a very comfortable stay. Comfy bed, nice seating area, the bathroom even had a double jacuzzi! Fruit in the room, chocolates, proper coffee and bottled water all very welcome. The room I was in didn't have AC and it was an unusually warm few days. The carvery restaurant as a result was very hot. Food in the bar was a little overpriced but the carvery very good value. I opted for full breakfast in the room. Only a fiver tray charge and well worth it. Didn't use the spa but was told it was great. Beautiful, quiet surroundings. Only downside was lack of hot food options on the room service menu after 9.30pm. Friendly staff. Would defo stay again.

« Visited for Saturday night in October - a nice place »

Visited this Hotel for Saturday afternoon through to Sunday morning after visiting an event at the NEC and had a very nice time. The room (4 poster) and bathroom were large, clean and had plenty of storage. Did not eat there (went to nearby Bushundora indian restaurant in Sutton Coldfield instead), but went to the Lounge bar for a late drink and that was a very pleasant and relaxing place to stay. I did not go to the pool and spa... wish I had. The wood panelling in much of the hotel is really nice and gives the hotel a great Edwardian feel The grounds were very nice, and the adjacent woodland was perfect for a sunny October morning walk There was a large charity ball with a band near to our room, but any noise did not stop me falling asleep quickly (light sleepers should check their room location)

« Lunch at Moor Hall Hotel,Sutton Coldfield »

Six of us had lunch there today. Very disappointing for Hotel of this stature. Starters very poor. Only the soup and the salmon rated. Main course - five of us had roast beef, which was good. But the vegetables were very poor. The only greens were a few scattered string beans on a large dish of cubed swedes, parsnips, potatoes. There was, however, a nice dish of cauliflower cheese.desserts were very average. Service was very poor. We had to wait ages for our desserts and the coffee was dreadful, very weak with no taste at all. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, but we shall not be returning there.

    « Amazing find! »

I booked the hotel as a surprise for my mum for her birthday having. Sen let down by another hotel chain in the centre of Birmingham. I am sooo glad that I was let down as this place was amazing. It certainly had the wow factor as you drove up the drive. As we walked into the reception we were met with a beautiful open fire and large comfy sofas. Having checked in we made our way to the bar area. It was stunning. Another open fire more sofas and the most amazing wood panelled walls with a beautiful staircase. The view out onto the grounds was stunning. When we eventually made it to our rooms again we were pleasantly surprised with the size of not only the rooms but the bathrooms. We had booked a double, single and twin so we can actually report back on all 3 rooms. The single bed was more like a double just in a smaller room, the double room was very spacious with an armchair and free standing wardrobe. It was a really good size and a very large bathroom. The twin room was what it said but still a good size with a lovely big and modern bathroom. That evening we are in the Oak Restaurant, this is a lovely old room with wood panelled walls and a lovely high ceiling. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive but not intrusive. They had even found out it was my mothers birthday and provided her with a rendition of happy birthday. Having eaten some amazing food we retired to our beds where a good nights sleep was had. Breakfast in the morning was in the Oak Restaurant it was buffet style and plenty of it. The hotel definitely had the wow factor for my mother with the lovely old building and architecture combined with beautiful views. The staff were all so lovely and considerate I would definitely recommend it to people.

    « Brilliant short break »

I can honestly say that this is the first time I have stayed at a Hotel where every member of staff was welcoming, friendly and professional . From the first contact with reception , through to the Spa staff and evening dinner and breakfast crew...well done , Moor Hall your team are great. Our room was on the ground floor and was very well decorated , immaculately clean , had very efficient air conditioning and the under floor heating in the bathroom was a bonus . ( my only negative would be the fact that there was no bottled water provided in the room ) . The Spa facilities were very good , pool etc and again very clean and it was nice to relax on the poolside loungers . We ate in the Oak Room and had an excellent meal , particularly enjoyed the steak and pork main course , the food was well presented and cooked perfectly. Had a very peaceful and comfortable nights sleep despite the hotel being very busy we heard no noise from other guests at all . Breakfast was one of the best I've had this year and the hot buffet was very impressive . The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with plenty of parking , looking forward to my next visit already .

    « Afternoon Tea »

Came here today for an afternoon tea. Was very disappointed with this. The sandwiches was average; the cheese and pickle was more pickle with little grated cheese, the second roll of smoked salmon was half the size of the first roll. The Brummie scone was a morsel of very dry, over baked, tasteless bread. The scones was a little dry and had very few sultanas. The little jars of jam and cream was sticky on the outside to touch which was not nice. The cakes; the creamy strawberry parfait was too sloppy, as you tried to pick this up, it was slipping through your fingers, not even easy to eat once cut into smaller size. The cup cakes was extremely dry and tasted like they was yesterday's stock. This is priced as same cost as most other hotels but have had much better afternoon teas at local garden centre restaurants for half of the price. Best thing about this was the prosecco, large pot of tea and the lovely friendly staff. Would not recommend the afternoon tea at all.

    « Overnight business stay.... »

Stayed here for one night after sales meeting. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The WiFi is good so I could get some work completed. The bathroom was a nice size and the shower was large also which was nice to wake up and use. There a lot of choices for breakfast and the cooked English was excellent. Room rate was £97 so a lot more hotel for your buck than the Premier Inns or Travelodge.

    « Fabulous Spa day! »

Spent a fabulous day at this lovely hotel in an amazing setting. It was our annual "Groupon" treat and didn't disappoint. Pleasantly surprised with the new relaxation room. This was just what was needed as previously you had to relax poolside. The relaxation room is just fabulous! Lovely to have lunch on the terrace in the sunshine.... we did have to wait a while for cutlery and plates...but this was the only small hiccup throughout. Treatments and spa staff were all excellent! Great treatment rooms and the heated beds are just the icing on the cake!! Looking forward to next year!! Thank you!

« Rememberable anniversary Sunday lunch »

Arranged for a private Sunday lunch in the Wyndley Room for 13. The menu had a excellent choice and was chosen before hand. On the day the table was lovely & they helped with the decoration & cake table. The staff were 1st class, polite & served the food very quickly so we all ate together. We were at the table for 3hrs & in the room for 5hrs which was lovely as we wasn't rushed. The food was outstanding & plentiful & every plate went back empty. The head waiter popped in every now & then to check all was going ok but the staff were very capable. It was a lovely day that we all will remember.

« Gorgeous hotel, fantastic grounds, lacking in spa area »

We stayed here for a weekend getaway for my wife's birthday. Set in the lovely Royal town of Sutton Coldfield, you drive up the private road to arrive at the Hall, you are welcomed by some unique revolving doors and friendly reception staff. We stayed in a superior room and it had all of the mod cons you should expect from a 4 star hotel. The bed was comfortably to lay on and the view onto the greens outside was relaxing. There was no road noise, considering that the M6 is only a stones throw away from the hotel. The only complaint we had was that the pillows were not firm enough, but a quick chat with reception resolved that. We explored the grounds of the Hall where we found a lovely hidden garden; the conservatory that runs along the outside is a pleasant place to walk through or just to lounge and the main dining area looks fabulous - they had a wedding exhibition the day we arrived and I would imagine attending a wedding here would be fantastic, with some wonderful photo opportunities. It looks particularly stunning when lit up at night. The breakfast that was included was as expected, with a continental offering and a hot food option. I was a little disappointed that some of the options had further supplemental charges, but overall, you would not be able to leave there hungry or dissatisfied. The spa was lovely, again with friendly staff. My wife sang the praises of the girl who provided her Terraké therapy, feeling aptly relaxed afterwards. The swimming area was clean and well maintained, with a small hot tub/jacuzzi (enough to seat 2 people comfortably) on the side and a small steam room (large enough for 5-6 people) and a smaller sauna (good for 3 people). I felt that as the Spa is one of the main features of the hotel, the size of facilities were lacking. All in all, a good stay and if the opportunity arose again, we would definitely visit.

Warm and cosy hotel. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Country kitchen was nice for a meal with family. Special thanks to Connie and Grace at the bar and Dan in the country kitchen whom all made the stay very enjoyable. « Lovely place, but let down by the basics »

Booked one of the 1 night spa breaks as a 50th birthday surprise for my wife. Not worth the £315 (plus an extra £56 for drinks and going over your food allowance in the oak Room restaurant, (£4 for a jug of iced water), just for 1 night) that I paid for it. Very nice Hotel and very clean and nice food. The Spa was very nice, as were the girls who gave us our massages. What let it down was, 1, the bottle of champagne in our room on arrival (3:00pm) was missing, (not the first time judging by previous reviews), this was a special surprise for my wife and wanted to celebrate it on our arrival. I called reception immediately, they said they would get it sent up. We waited 30 mins and no sign of it so, as we was wasting our spa time, we gave up waiting and headed to the Spa. On our return to our room at 7:00 pm the bottle was waiting for us. 2, When I booked I enquired about the treatments available at the Spa and was told my 4 choices and that was it. No real options for a male unless you liked a pedicure, manicure or facial treatment. I must stress the Spa was far more accommodating than the reservation team and they quite willingly offered a treatment we were both more than happy with. 3, Arrived 10 mins before our reservation time at the Oak Room restaurant and was told to go to the bar have a drink by the 'Front of house' / 'Maitre d' and he would collect us. 25 mins later (15 mins after our reservation time) I had to return to the restaurant to ask if they had forgotten us, which they had, because the restaurant was only half full. The food was very good, although the 2 smudges of mint flavoured mousse on a plate as a dessert, was a complete rip off. 4, Didn't seem to cope with the numbers down for breakfast. We had nearly finished our breakfast before our coffee and toast arrived.Other people were commenting on this too. All I got on check out at reception when asked about my stay and I told them of my concerns, was 'Oh, I'm sorry about that'. If my wife had not been by my side and she was unaware of what I had paid, I would of wanted to speak to someone higher. All this said, a lovely Hotel with nice food,

What a beautiful place! Great setting, attentive, friendly staff and extremely welcoming. Went for the celebration afternoon tea, great selection of savoury and sweet snacks. « Afternoon tea... Complete disaster »

Booked Moor hall for a surprise afternoon tea for a 50th birthday with the family. Upon arrival, reception we're welcoming and pointed us to where we needed to be. As we arrived at the restaurant, a member of staff saw us waiting at the door but continued to talk to other customers. I understand customer service but a "I'll be with you in a minute" wouldn't go a miss. We waited for 5 minutes before she came over. She then told us our table is not ready but to go sit in the bar which is fine as our other guests hadn't arrived as of yet. After guests arrived we waited another 15 minutes before we approached another staff to say we are ready. They said " go to that room there" and pointed to the "snug room". We then had to wait another 20 minutes before we had to get again and go find a staff member be to serve us which happened to be the same lady who again ignored me until she had finished talking. A guy came in eventually took our order and brought in some tea. It then got to another 20 minutes and still no food. In the end we left. The manager Ryan apologised and took down my email for a complementary dinner.... Didn't receive that either. All in all, worst surprise ever, service horrendous and staff were rude.

    « Fabulous »

We booked at the last moment due to a change in our travel plans. The staff on the phone were most helpful and on arrival the staff were excellent. We had a nice ground floor room and had booked dinner in the restaurant as we were also meeting a good friend that evening. The food and service exceeded expectations and the restaurant certainly deserves it two AA rosette classification. The food was delicious and the prices very reasonable. Breakfast was equally enjoyable after an excellent nights sleep. All in all a lovely hotel and one we would recommend and stay at again when we are in the Birmingham area.

    4
« Mixture of excellence and tiredness »

What a contrast. The room to old and tired. With clunky air on and paper thin walls so next door sounds like they are in your room. Tv old and colour shot and an archaic WiFi system. But the star, bar and restaurant quite superb. I suggest taking the higher range rooms as my colleagues had done if you stay.

    « Spa day & Afternoon Tea »

Visited here for a spa day with afternoon tea included which was excellent. On arrival we were given a pot of tea and biscuits and given a tour of the spa area. We both booked for a neck, back and shoulder massage which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The pool area was clean and very relaxing. For afternoon tea we were asked what sandwich fillings we wanted, we explained we weren't big sandwich eaters to which the waitress then said we could swap sandwiches for fruit salad instead which we opted for, we thought this was a nice touch. The selection of cakes were great and were larger compared to some afternoon teas you get where the cakes are tiny. Overall we had a lovely day, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be returning.

We just had a 1 night stay at the hotel we really enjoyed our stay the staff are lovely the service was great. The only thing that lets it down is the dated rooms they just look a bit tired we stayed here 20 years ago and the decor was exactly the same then, it could just go with freshening up a bit.

    « Another good stay. »

We've just enjoyed a 1 night stay at this very nice hotel. We had stayed here before a couple of years ago, and really liked it so wanted to return. We arrived on Sunday afternoon. Impressive approach from the road. Large mainly Victorian property much extended. The hotel looked pretty busy, but check in was quick and smooth. This time we were in Room 71 on the ground floor. Views over the attractive grounds. Quite spacious and Comfortable room. Traditionally furnished. TV, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities etc. Nice bathroom. Only negative was being able to hear the other guests in the adjoining room. We used the gym and the pool and both are excellent. We went early evening and both were quiet which was great although it closes at 7.30. Breakfast was very good. Hot and cold buffets with an excellent choice. Staff were all very pleasant. No complaints and we would be happy to return.

    « Stopover »

Stopped here on a very busy Saturday. Hotel set in lovely grounds facing golf course. Multiple functions were taking place. Used pool late afternoon. Nice pool but bit dark in seating area. Went to bar and sat outside - lovely view of grounds. Staff very friendly but struggling with volume of guests. Bedroom was as expected in this grade of hotel - good selection of teas and coffee. Dinner in The Country Kitchen was carvery style. Again busy, staff very friendly. Cold buffet starter was ok but shellfish was on same platter as mackerel and herring - not good for those of us with shellfish allergy. Choice of three roasts for main with good choice of veg etc. Sweets were again ok. Breakfast normal for uk hotel. Would visit again en route south. Staff couldn't have been more helpful.

    « Variable »

Stayed one night on trip south. Check in busy and hotel obviously busy - usually a good sign. Room was average - good tea & coffee facilities , TV, robes, comfortable bed. Bathroom dated & in need of updating - bath panel falling off, shower over bath not that great and toiletries had very chemical smell. Used leisure centre - ladies changing room looked like tornado disaster site - towels and robes and hotel slippers everywhere. Pool area very comfortable- pool bit murky as serviettes/ tissues broken up & floating through water. Really didn't fancy a mouthful of that so cut swim short. Told staff of issues on way out & hope they dealt with it. Used bar at front of hotel for tea in afternoon - sat outside - lovely aspect however - tables all needed to be cleaned. Staff all busy but needed to clear down tables & keep place cleaner. Ate in Country Kitchen carvery & food fine and plentiful. Good choices and staff very attentive. I would say all staff we met & had contact with were very friendly and helpful. Used loos in public areas - these are lovely - obviously done up recently and very very well done. Hotel had wedding going on, about 2 or 3 private parties - but only time we felt crowded/ underserved was just before dinner about 6.45pm bar very crowded and staff overwhelmed. Good stay on the whole - think rooms bit tired - hope this is a work in progress. Would visit again.

    « Short Stay »

I only had a short stay, what a great looking hotel in really nice grounds ( golf course). The staff were all very polite and courteous. The room was nice, clean and well maintained, with everything you need. I had dinner in one of the bars, the food was well presented, and a large portion. Breakfast was buffet style, plenty of food, well presented. Overall a really good short stay. Special thanks to the staff who I found to be really professional.

    4
    « Spa Day »

The spa day was nice. Treatment was great, I had a back neck and shoulder massage. The staff were second to none, there really wasn't anything they couldn't do for you. The one guy who was there throughout the day (I didn't get his name) was doing everything and went above and beyond. Facilities are clean, fitness class was fun. The set up isn't perfect, as you need to go downstairs to use the toilet, swimming and shower facilities and spa and fitness is upstairs. There were minor issues eg running out of mugs but the staff were running around sorting it out. I think the relax room needs to have dimmer lighting as it is too bright. Over all it was a lovely day. Menu in the restaurant is not extensive and in parts very expensive so if you don't mind a good size sandwich and decent sides you won't be disappointed.

    « Grand hotel »

As you drive past several mansions on the private road to the hotel you get a feeling of grandeur. The historic building is beautiful and has fantastic views of the neighbouring golf course from the terrace bar. The pool was nice and one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel on our trip to Cadbury world. Our rate included dinner which was a lovely carvery in the nicely refurbished restaurant. The wines were really well priced but our rose wine should really have been served in a cooler not just plonked on the table unopened. I also thought the bar service was a little slow and they didn't clear tables very quickly. Shame as everything else was great. The bedroom was ok but a little dated but the sofabed for my daughter was not comfortable at all.. The bathroom however had been recently refurbished to a high standard. It was a warm night so we really could have done with air con although reception did bring up a fan for us. I think this is a beautiful hotel that just has a few minor niggles to fix to make it really good.

« Expected better for a four star hotel! »

When arrived my wife and I Ordered tea which I had to ask for again as it was forgotten, no biscuit with it either. Relaxed service considering the bar /outside area was not busy! In our room one of the glasses in bathroom was filthy, phone was very crackly and could hardly hear lady at reception. VERY hot water which scalded me,would have been nice to have a sign for health and safety! At Spa was a relaxing massage but they had double booked our double room and as this weekend was a surprise for my wife's birthday I was NOT impressed! Meal in Oak room on evening was below average and not up to a 2 rosette standard. Trust me, I know what that standard should be! When chocolate mousse resembles Angel Delight you know there is cause for concern! Staff were mostly lovely & polite which we were grateful for and the hotel grounds and general cleanliness were very good. In short not the best stay my wife or I have had in a hotel and would not want to recommend. Other reviews I have read have commented on the Spa area, the bar area and waiting times so it is obvious to me there is no learning from other guests bad experiences in this hotel! Pity as I like Moor Hall and its location!

    « Excellent »

I recent stayed with my husband for an anniversary treat. The reception staff were very pleasant and check was quite quick. We were asked if we needed hand with our bags and advised where our room was and all facilities. Ur room was very spacious and comfortable. The spa was also sagged with very friendly staff who didn't push you to purchase treatments. An all in all superb night away with m husband at this lovely hotel

« Im going to give Average although i am going to return. »

So the hotel itself looks fantastic from the outside nice entrance - check in very easy very quick. Plenty of parking Room was very small and shower is small It was a fair walk from the reception - so if you do have mobility issues let the desk know in advance. I would say that the room whilst ok is in need of an update you are not far off Marriott prices so you are going to need to up your game if you want the same custom. Swimming pool, Sauna and Steam - perfect Didn't eat in the hotel in the evening however the bar and little seating areas looked ideal for cozy chats right up to the larger gatherings Breakfast was good. Checkout was smooth. Staff Attentive - without being pushy Will return - hopefully to see a bit more of the hotel and lets see how you do .

« The Best Hotel we have stayed in »

We have stayed at this hotel now three times, each time being first rate, looking forward to visit number four. This visit was a last minute decision so we booked a weekend break at a great rate. From Check in and all the way through we were treated exceptionally well. The Staff at the hotel are the best we have experienced, friendly efficient and nothing is too much trouble. I could list all the staff we had contact with as first rate but a number of them deserve special mention. Kelsie - Reception, a small issue with our room was sorted quickly took ownership of the problem and got it sorted. Angie and Chloe in the bar went out of the way to help, we ordered lunch on the Saturday and as we have dietary issues were not sure how this would work out, we should not have worried. The food was prepared specially for us, delivered hot and very nice indeed. They also helped to arrange an afternoon tea for the Sunday PM, again with our dietary needs had to be done with care. The Tea was perfect! Mario - Oak Room, dinner in the Oak Roam was no less perfect, Mario looked after us, like his colleagues, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, we were not able to choose from the Starter selection, but he arranged for us to have something else, with no charge to make up for this. Michaela - Country Kitchen, as with others mentioned she took ownership of us and made sure we had what we needed remembering each time what was needed. Thank you to the hotel for a great weekend and as I said at the start can't wait to come back.

    « Tired and faceless »

Only stayed one night, not impressed if I'm honest. On check out wasn't even asked if everything was OK? It was just that, ok but no more. Room was old fashioned with dreadful furniture and basic. Was clean, but worn and tired. I thought there were hairs in the bath, but it was just cracks in the tub; the sink drained slowly, I put a kettle of boiling water down (on old hotel trick I've picked up) that made it a bit better, so they need to get to a Pound store and get some of their cheap sink unblockers to sort it. So left me completely underwhelmed, I guess for a load of guests after a wedding they are probably too drunk to care and maybe the golfers don't stay there? Next time I will use the near by Premier Inn, it will be less money too I suspect. Not a hotel I can recommend for any plus points at all I'm afraid.

    « Perfect »

The grounds the facilities and the stay was perfect. My partner brought me here as I have been stressed and tired lately. And he couldn't of picked a better place. Relaxing by the pool while reading a book is like time stood still for us. The breakfast in the morning was lovely. We were served by a young gentleman called Will and had a little conversation about the coffee. Well mannered and very attentive. I would recommend the hotel to friends and family and defiantly re visit :)

    « weekend break »

We stayed here for a long weekend. They had 2 weddings and an open day for weddings but it didn't make any difference to our stay. The staff were very good, even though you could see some of them were tired. The food was excellent, couldn't fault it. Breakfast was really good. Lots of choice. Room very spacious and clean. The only thing I would say is the rooms are on the warm side. Did have A/C but difficult to work. Other than that we had a lovely rest full stay. Oh and the pool was beautiful.

« All the boxes were ticked, apart from one..... »

My wife and I stayed at Moor Hall Spa on 27th August. Unlike my wife this was my first time at a spa and I have to say the facilities were very good. Not too large to make it feel that little bit special and not too small that everyone was on top of each other. Hot tub, sauna and steam room all off the good sized pool in a pleasantly decorated surrounding. Upon arrival we were quickly checked in and informed that we should walk from our room to the spa in the dressing gowns and slippers provided. We walked the short distance to our room via the long conservatory noticing a large function room set up for a wedding. Our room was very nicely decorated and laid out, four poster bed and views over the gardens. We changed into our spa attire and set off for the pool. Leaving the accommodation and heading back through the conservatory........... straight into the wedding party! My wife and I felt like two lambs (or fluffy sheep) going to the slaughter. We heard derogatory comments from some of the wedding party but not wanting to cause a scene we walked quickly through and into the spa. After a good time at the spa we returned to our room, checking first to ensure the wedding party were in the function room! We had supper, a very nice meal with an equally good bottle of Merlot! We then retired to the bar for a couple of drinks before heading back to the room. The wedding party was in full swing but it wasn't overly loud. I am a good sleeper, my wife is not and the next morning she said that the wedding party guests were not particularly quiet in the early hours! Breakfast was very good, a varied selection of hot and cold food. The staff were very attentive throughout and looked after us very well. At check out I made a point of explaining about the noise and embarrassment we felt walking to the spa. There are changing rooms available and this should have been recommended or at least mentioned. We were told that the wedding party were advised that spa guests would be walking through the conservatory. That is not the point, we should have been advised as there are other routes that could have been taken. We received a hollow 'sorry about that' jumped in the car and left. Very nice spa, good rooms, great food but we felt let down at the poor handling of our complaint.

    « Amazing hotel 100% recommended »

We have stayed at the hotel many times and our high opinion of the hotel is reflected as we chose moor hall for our wedding day. Everything was amazing. The staff are kind and caring, thoughtful and personable. They have excellent interpersonal skills. Nothing is too much. The venue is best described as luxurious. Menu choice is extremely varied and presented to a high standard. Most importantly it tastes exquisite! Wonderful place.

    « 2 night stay »

We were very pleased with our stay here, we had originally booked for one night but decided to stop another. The rooms were spotless, beds comfortable and robes were provided. The staff were absolutely lovely and very friendly. Breakfast area was a nice size the room divided in to two sections. The old part of the building was originally a "dwelling". There is a golf course next to the hotel and sitting on the patio you look over to the golfers. It was very calm and peaceful and booking out time was 11am which gives you a bit more time in the morning.

    « Chilled Weekend Break »

After reading some reviews I was a little apprehensive but given what I thought was a great price from the hotels summer hot deals website I thought what's to loose. So pleased my partner and myself took ourselves off last bank holiday to have a chilling out weekend. We had no need to leave the hotel during our 2 night stay. I was on crutches as I recently had a knee operation and was for the first time in my life in trust of the hotel staff and facilities to make my way around safely. I needed have worried and must say I was impressed by such things as a letter in my room advising of evacuation procedures. I even indulged in the spa/pool facilities for two days and have to say despite being a little unsteady on my feet managed very easily. The placing of hand rails outside the steam and sauna rooms gave me confidence to utilise the facilities to their best. The staff were kind and courteous and the young lady (with the red hair) at breakfast seated me next to the buffet so that I didn't have far to walk. On arrival our room wasn't ready despite being past the checking in time. I could see that a very large wedding party seem to have descended on reception at the same time so we sought refuge in the bar for a drink while the very efficient reception manager (eastern european gentleman) attended to everyones query and needs in a very calm manner despite being almost swallowed up at his desk. It wasn't a great deal to us and the complimentary drink went a long way to what was a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. The dinner with the deal in the oak room was perfect and yet again the restaurant manager made it a very enjoyable experience. My one gripe that I will put down to the young ladies inexperience was that when leaving a very wet floor towel on the floor in the bathroom we didn't expect it to be hung up with the dry bath towels on the same rail. I would certainly book again. Thank you to all of the staff who work so hard to make our chilled break just that.

    « Relaxing Stay »

We got a deal off secret escapes for one night with breakfast and spa access. Checking in was easy, they even had homemade biscuits on the counter. The awkward part was finding the room as there was a wedding on and we did have to barge past with bags to get to where the rooms are. Our room was big and spacious, the beds were comfy, the bathroom was clean - and there is a mini bar which is good as we bought our own champagne. We went to the spa wearing robes and slippers. The robes are a bit tired, but at least they are clean. It was awkward going past a wedding party in this outfit, but everyone was doing it so it was fine. The spa is small. You get a towel and there are changing rooms and water facilities. The room itself is hot, but there are staff around checking water every hour or so. The steam room and sauna are VERY small, but fine. The jacuzzi is OK and the lounging area could be a bit more comfortable. The showers/toilet facilites in the changing rooms were adequate. Real shame that I forgot to book my treatments in - they were fully booked! Staff in the bar are super friendly and try their best to make sure your needs are met. We saw two other groups in the bar area getting preferential treatment (for birthdays and anniversarys) which was nice. Breakfast was fab! So many drinks and food and bits to choose from. I just wish I wasn't so hungover as would have enjoyed it so much more.

    « Really lovely Hotel »

It was an offer. We used to live on Moor Hall Drive in the eighties and how that hotel has changed. I went with my daughter and our room was really first class. The beds were very comfortable doubles. The views from the windows were lovely. The hotel is on a golf course. There are two restaurants. We had a meal in the small restaurant which mainly does roast dinners. Food was good. We also used the swimming pool in the Spa which was lovely, large and clean. We would certainly go there again.

    « Excellent Food & Service »

We went to Moor Hall for a meal for my parent's 57th Wedding Anniversary, and dined in the Country Kitchen carvery. There was a great range of food for all 3 courses, all food was presented well & cooked perfectly. We have previously tried other hotels in the area, and can safely say that this was the best by far! All staff were very attentive, and made sure that everything you needed was sorted out. There was a good range of drinks, at a very reasonable price. Particular mention must go to Daniel, who really looked after our group - my parents had a wonderful celebration meal, and are looking to go back in the near future. Thank you to the Hotel & staff for a great time!

I was treated to a spa and overnight visit by my wife, beautiful surroundings and views from the room and patio areas. Excellent spa facility and very relaxed evening meal in the country style restaurant. A wonderful building only a short drive from the busy Midlands motorway network.

« Lovely pool and spa »

This hotel is very nice, staff very friendly. We booked a 1 nights stay through Groupon, fantastic deal, food was delicious which was in with the cost, we knew the rooms were standard when booking but a bit disappointed when we got there, some of the curtains were hanging down and brown mark on ceiling, but very clean, I always think that first impressions are important.

« Disappointing visit went from bad to worse! »

My friend kindly planned a second mini hen do to stay one night under a spa and overnight stay package, she lives in Liverpool and I live in Bristol so this was chosen as a halfway meeting point. On the plus side I must say the 2 Spa treatments and therapists we had were amazing, and that was the highlight of the trip and then it really went downhill from there. The swimming pool area could do with more seating/less people being allowed in at certain times, my friend is 7 months pregnant and there were no seats available around the pool area during our 2 hour visit. Also compared to other spas a better choice of complimentary herbal teas/chill out rooms would have been nice, rather than upright cafe style tables and chairs and a vending machine. In the evening we decided to have room service as my friend was tired and we thought we'd treat ourselves and had a £28 allowance each within the deal we had. Being that I am getting married next month, I wanted to try and choose a healthy option and went for the chicken caesar salad and hoped they would go easy on the dressing...this was a school boy error as what turned up was some iceburg drenched in sauce and some very dry ovecooked chicken, my friends duck salad was equally over loaded with dressing. being typically English I am usually too shy/embarrassed to complain but the food really was unedible so I had to phone up and re ordered some different mains, which were replaced, mediocre but edible. So far the stay had been mixed but it was the behviour from the staff, in particular one man at the front desk the next morning which made us decide we would never retrn. He immediately apologised for the food, without us bringing the matter up and offered us the dinner complimentary. Which we thought was a nice professional gesture, however this needed further explanation that we had already paid for the food within the deal so please could this be refunded onto our card. He tried to persuade us to return in the future and he would give us on upgrade. I relly had to push him on offering a refund despite him offering it to us complimentary in the first place. Then we checked out, paid our drinks tab, put our bags behind the reception desk and asked if they could please book a taxi for midday for us to catch a train. We came back at midday and waited outside, asked reception after 5 minutes and they said it was on it's way, it then got to 12.15pm and it was still a no show. By this time we had missed our train and would potentially miss our connection at Birmigham New Street. I went back inside and the guy on reception had the ordacity to say we never specified a time and he ordered one straight away when we checked out. This did not make sense as why would we put our bags behind reception if we were ready to leave??? I was just really shocked by how rude he was, I am 100% certain we specified a time, and as a professional he should have been apologising for the lack of communication and not checking the time with us. We therefore had to order our own taxi and pay to go all the way to Birmingham New Street. All in all a real faulty towers experience, and would not recommend to stay/eat there.

    « Nice, but.......... »

My husband and I came here on 29th August overnight with a groupon deal. Positives Lovely food, really nice carvery and breakfast The BEST massage I have ever had!! Very pricey at £67 but great for a treat Negatives The room was just ok. We felt like we'd been shoved in the paupers end. Dirty grouting on bathroom floor and walls and a lovely view of conifer trees one foot from the window which left the room feeling really dark and depressing. Was ok for a night but couldn't of stayed longer in that room. Beds comfy though. We didn't get a choice what time we had dinner, we were told we were booked in at 7pm and with having a massage booked at 530 this would leave me half an hour to get back to the room and get ready for dinner. The last thing you want to do is rush after a lovely treatment, especially with it being so expensive. We were told there was no moving as restaurant was fully booked and I couldn't have my massage earlier either. I just don't understand why we weren't given an option over what time we would like to go for dinner, I have never encountered this before and everything was just to rushed. I'm really really annoyed about this. Every other hotel we have visited we have never been TOLD what time we were booked in for dinner, surely you should decide this or at least be given options. So beware of that!!!! Overall, it was OK

    « Amazing place »

2 day visit over bank holiday for romantic break. Was a late booking so room was poor really but not worried as probably last one. Room was noisy and dirty but comfortable. Facilities a absolutely fantastic, service very attentive (restaurant possibly best I've experienced) food delicious and varied and all this makes up for poor room. All in all 5 star hotel and good price. Spa very good and grounds a pleasure to walk. Only 50 minutes away so will definitely return!!

    « Disappointing Birthday Treat »

This was booked through Groupon and chosen mainly for the Spa which was ok however the evening meal was shocking. To start it was ment to be Hor derves but it was just a salad bar with a bit if meat and fish so we went for the bland soup. The main was a Carvery, the chef was rude and very basic veg but what we did have was nice. When it came to dessert my husband ordered the hot option which came cold. Due to us being on the 8.30 sitting the rest of the dessert choice was poor. So I opted for the cheese and biscuits, which I had to ask for more biscuits as there wasn't any, the cheese was dried out and tasteless too and for the second time I had to ask for butter!! To go with the cheese my husband asked for a large port, which came as a small and we were not offered tea of coffee after our meal so we left! The room itself really did need updating, it was so hot we opened the windows which meant we got an early morning wake up call at 7am with the rattling of cages and deliveries but it wasn't too bad as we dropped off again only to be woken again at 8.45am to the smashing of bottles. Nothing like a lie in on a bank holiday. When asked the next morning how our stay was I explained I was disappointed, i'm not sure why she even asked as she wasn't bothered by my reply!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights this week and couldn't have been happier with our choice! We had bought a Wowcher deal that came with a standard room and breakfast both mornings (delicious & filling), but found to our delight on arrival we had been upgraded to a superior room - fabulous to have air con and a more spacious room on such hot summer days! The deal also came with tickets to the Drayton Manor theme park only 6 miles away, a great day out followed by a lovely swim and hot tub in the hotel spa/leisure area - bliss! Beautiful hotel with stunning grounds and relaxing conservatory and outside bar area to relax peacefully. Staff were very welcoming and made our stay complete. Can't fault it - 5 stars!!

« This Hotel has a lovely setting, BUT it is DESPERATE need of an internal revamp!!! »

I would have loved to have scored Angela B's hotel and her team higher BUT there is just to much lacking at this once GREAT hotel. I played golf on Friday 19th August with a Moor Hall member so decided to book an overnight stay at the hotel. Check in was terribly slow as a large hen party from up North had just arrived to check in! The lady on reception was very polite and helpful, but needed some assistance to help cope with the Hen party scenario. My bedroom was in desperate need of a make over very tired and drab, however the bathroom had recently been modernised and was good, Now the really poor part of the stay, the food in the Country Kitchen (carvery) was basically bland with very little flavour, the cold starters of fish, meats and various salads were ok. I guess having eaten in the Oak restaurant on prior occasions I was expecting much better food!! I understand economically the market that Angela B is now aiming for, but it's such a shame as with this with their near neighbour New Hall both used to be BRILLIANT now it's really basic and not worth the Visit, Sorry! Would not recommend or re visit.

    « Birthday break »

Stayed here earlier this month on a groupon deal. We paid £99 for dinner, bed and breakfast. Don't think it told you in the sales pitch that is would be a carvery meal. Not keen on carvery meals but we did still enjoy the experience. We arrived in the early afternoon and were going to go to the pool but didn't bother as it was a reasonable day weather wise so we sat outside and watched the golfers. The basic room was adequate but as other people have said is in need of a bit of tlc. The bathroom however had clearly been refurbed and was very nice. However the room was comfortable and had everything you should require. The dinner was very acceptable, I had the salad bar which consisted of a good choice of salad, meats and fish, my hubby had the soup. Carvery was ok. Nice choice of desserts. Drinks not too expensive. (Although did think the price of a cup of tea was over the top!) Sat in one of the lounges after with a brandy and did enjoy the atmosphere. Breakfast the next day was excellent, good choice of everything. Staff we came across all very pleasant. Would be a lovely venue for a wedding. Nice break for the amount we paid.

    « Brilliant again »

We had dinner here on Friday evening in the oak room the service is superb and the food good (although some portion sizes were a bit small). They were accommodating of all our requests and everything was den with a smile - senior staff were directing new staff well - wish more places trained staff like this!

« Lovely food but the room service let the hotel down »

My husband organised the weekend as a surprise. We arrived and he had requested a bottle of bubbles for the room which was a lovely thought. Unfortunately the bubbles were sitting in luke warm water as I imagine they had been delivered a while before we arrived at 6:30pm. He phoned for some ice and then phoned again. It took 45 minutes to arrive by which point we were booked in for dinner which was a little disappointing. Reception apologised and arranged for another bottle to be delivered to the room for our second evening. When we arrived back there was no bottle so my husband called down to reception. He called again 45 minutes later when it hadn't arrived. 1 hour 20 minutes later and again just before we were due to head down to dinner it came. Twice we were unable to enjoy a pre dinner drink which put a bit of a damper on the weekend. I am unsure where the breakdown in communication was but I would like to think this will be looked at following on from our complaint. The room was ok, I believe we had been upgraded to a superior room which I'm not sure it was. The bathroom was a little tired, we had to ask maintenance to fix the shower as the handle which controlled the heat was so stiff we couldn't get cold water out. The room didn't have air conditioning which was a shame as it was quite warm but we were able to keep the windows open so it wasn't too hot. The dinner on both nights was superb, the atmosphere, the service and the food itself was lovely. The Spa treatments we had were lovely, the spa itself is quite small, we were unable to sit by the pool and instead opted to sit in a quiet room which was very relaxing. The sauna Jacuzzi and steam room were in high demand so we didn't manage to make use of these facilities. Overall we had a nice weekend it was just a shame it was marred by I can only assume communication issues between reception and room service.

    « Absolutely Fantastic!! »

I stayed here overnight with my friend (20.08.16 - 21.08.16) and wow what a hotel! We arrived quite early, and the room was not quite ready so we took a quick walk around the grounds. The grounds aren't very big, but they are quite beautiful and in Spring I bet they are just gorgeous when all of the flowers are in bloom. The hotel itself is a lot bigger than we thought it would be and we enjoyed have a little look around. We were allowed to check in early, and the prosecco I had purchased for my friends birthday was in our room with a card. Shortly after a cupcake was sent to the room from the hotel wishing my friend happy birthday - she was very happy about that! I had booked through Groupon for a spa overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. The spa is lovely - a little small, but everything needed is in there. It is clean and well looked after and quite warm inside which is nice when you can see the rain out of the windows. The pool is one height all along which is what I prefer as I'm not a strong swimmer. We had a lovely afternoon in our room watching a little bit of television and getting ready for dinner. The shower in room 130 is amazing!! I don't know if they are all like that, but it's like a spa water back massage. It's so powerful it combed my hair out!! Amazing. The room was lovely and clean. The dinner in the country kitchen was delicious, I was given a large serving (which I didn't finish and felt guilty about - but I was so full!) and we ordered a crumble for dessert which I did try to finish because it was so nice. We had a walk around the grounds again at night and it was a little spooky and we had a little giggle at ourselves. In the morning we had intended to go for a swim (but we were lazy and didn't get up in time) and went down for breakfast instead. The breakfast was again delicious. We got down around 9.30am I think, and I would suggest getting down there a little early. We didn't have long to wait for a table but some people came down closer to the end of breakfast and had to wait for a table. All of the staff were very polite and we really enjoyed our stay. The gentleman on reception when we came in was fantastic - I missed his name but I think he may be head of reception. His customer service skills are way above what I have received before. A fantastic gentleman. I would definitely stay here again, but maybe bring my husband next time. Thank you for the lovely stay!!

« Relaxing stay with great facilities »

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. We were impressed with the beautiful grounds as we drove up to the hotel and a good welcome by staff on arrival set the tone for our stay. The large room with jacuzzi bath and 4 poster bed meant we could unwind properly and we found the room to be quiet. My wife always likes to look through the hotel brochure/guide and was very impressed with the amount of detail. It looked like the hotel would cater for every need you had. For example she had never seen a hotel offer to lend hair straighteners. These little touches were carried through with complimentary chocolates on arrival and fresh fruit. We met friends nearby for dinner so cannot opine on the evening menu but we were very impressed by the quality of service and food on offer at breakfast. We would certainly stay here again.

    « The Pip Report. »

Great stay lovely hotel in attractive grounds, well appointed superior double rooms spotlessly clean and a really nice breakfast. Good spa facilities as well. The staff were pleasant and helpful too. At £85 for the room for 2 with breakfast represents excellent value for money. However this was a Secret Escapes offer and normally is more expensive but they did offer ordinary doubles for 88 on the weekend we went. Was tempted to give it 5 stars just for having fried bread at breakfast lol. Fully recommend this to you. I would definitely go back.

    « Organised Accomodation »

We were arranged this Accomodation whilst visiting the area. Website doesn't do it justice as it is a very beautiful area and building. The room was satisfactory, and everything worked. The hairdryers are more powerful in the pool changing rooms though. Unfortunately, the staff really let the place down. Apart from the chef and a very smiley lady who we passed most mornings, not one acknowledged you. I had more "good mornings" from other guests then staff. They are very unhelpful, I rang an hour prior to my arrival as it says on the website that they are able to book a taxi for their customers and to give them a call to arrange. I waited around 15 mins from departing the train before arranging my own taxi. Then when I arrived I was literally given my room key, and no information on what times breakfast/dinner was and the process we needed to take to get these. We turned up for dinner to be told we were supposed to book and she would have to find some space for us - had the man on the reception explained this to us we would have done. Following on from that, the staff look down on you unless you are a higher class guest. The staff in the country kitchen are the same, however there was a lovely lady who was very attentive and helped us by explaining everything we needed to do. She worked in the mornings and I want to reiterate that she is the only one who helped us during our 4 night stay. Apart from a lack of friendly staff who believe in delivering good customer service, the hotel and its facilities are great. It would be best suited to someone who likes to eat out and not interact with others.

    « All Good »

I have no complaints about this hotel, I stay here quite regularly & each time I do I am impressed. The price is reasonable, the facilities are very good & the breakfast on most occasions is also good. I would recommend this hotel every time!

« Nice room, shame about the food »

I visited with my mum for her birthday. We stayed in a twin room which was very spacious. The decor is traditional in style but this suits the building. However, it was a room with no view from either of the windows - just two brick walls! We used the spa facilities - nice loungers round the pool, jacuzzi, etc. The downside to our stay was the food. We had a three course meal included in the price and this was eaten in the Country Kitchen restaurant. The first course was either soup or a salad buffet, which was ok. The main course was a carvery, or a choice of Cajun chicken or cod. I chose the cod which was a bit over cooked as it had been kept hot under heat lamps. However the vegetables were lukewarm and tasteless, a great disappointment. The dessert of key lime pie had a soggy base and bland filling. All in all, I only ate a small amount of salad, a piece of fish and a few spoonfuls of dessert. Not exactly the three course meal you would expect at a 4 star hotel! Very disappointing bearing in mind the cost of the stay. It definitely was not value for money and I feel that the price we paid was far too high for the poor quality of the food.

« Very good in every way »

Attended a charity ball and was delighted at the standard of accommodation, service and the food for such a large party. This really is a very comfortable hotel and know how to run a large function giving everyone a good time and excellent food and drink. Looking forward to returning soon.

    « Bee Keeping Experience »

We spent an evening here as part of a bee keeping experience package. Bernard the bee keeper was excellent, we had a great time and a got a real feel for the realities of beekeeping. The hotel room was also lovely with a nice touch of a birthday cake, I had not ordered this so it was a great touch. Food was also excellent, the fillet of beef was cooked to perfection. A lovely relaxing location and relaxing spa.

    « A birthday treat »

My wife booked us this via Groupon and the deal included access to Spa, evening meal and breakfast We arrived and checked in their was a wedding going on so gave us an ideal of how big this hotel is - huge as we only saw the wedding on the way to our room which was upgraded by the way. When entering the room they had left a lovely card a decorated plate wishing me a happy birthday - totally unexpected The room was clean and spacious and a lovely view of the grounds To sum up a great multi purpose venue for a big event, golf, spa or just to relax Food was excellent Drinks are not cheap Service is great with nothing too much trouble

    « Excellent Value »

My daughter and I stayed at Moor Hall on a Groupon voucher for bed, breakfast and evening meal. We were given a tremendous room (more like a junior suite) complete with our own jacuzzi bath! The food for our evening meal was very good but the breakfast was nothing to write home about. For what we paid, it was very good value. One point for the hotel restaurant manager. Your menus have no allergy information which is now illegal! You need to sort that out.

    « Lovely stay »

Stayed for three nights with my son who was playing in a competition. Was moved to a much larger twin room on request with a nice seating area. All staff most welcoming and helpful- especially the lady in charge of breakfasts- which were plentiful and delicious. We made good use of the spa everyday and it was never to busy. Nice staff there too. Did not eat in at night- so many places nearby. Would highly reccommend and would definitely stay again

    « Amazing! »

Excellent room - the deluxe jacuzzi rooms are just a delight to stay in. Big room, good size comfortable bed with good duvet etc. The room was so clean and perfect in every way. Room service came quickly and all staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was included and it was lovely food. It offered everything anyone could want for breakfast and staff were accomodating and quick to get you seated and hydrated. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and has a lovely wood or you to explore. You are also close to Sutton Coldfield centre and we found a lovely restaurant to eat in not far from the hotel. However, the hotel do offer excellent evening meals we just wanted to explore the area. I was so happy with our stay and I think we will be back for more anniversaries. Good value for money as the jacuzzi was in our room and it was huge! Could not recommend highly enough!

    « Never again »

Whilst the external of the hotel is pleasant, internally it is dated, smells of a 1970's carvery and the beds are hideous. Not only are they uncomfortable and not conducive to a good night's sleep, but this morning I am covered in bites from whatever insects shared my bed. I couldn't get out fast enough. Unpleasant at best.

Paid 50% deposit when booking through Booking.com. then 3 weeks before we cancelled but they took the full fee anyway without us even being there. We found a superior Hotel Hotel du Vin in Church st Birmingham which we highly recommend

    « Relaxing Spa Day »

Enjoyed a ?Seasonal Spa Day' at Moor Hall with my Mom. I treated her for her birthday. We had coffee and toast on arrival, which was nice but the staff in the lounge were a little rushed and it took a few attempts to get our order right. We then got changed and went to sit by the pool. One complaint is that it was stiflingly hot in the pool area. Although you are not supposed to have the doors open to the outside someone had opened one door slightly allowing a nice breeze. The pool area was clean and the pool is lovely. It wasn't very busy so we were able to enjoy swimming back and forth. After we had dried off we went for lunch, which was in an upstairs room. The room was clean and pleasant but not much atmosphere in there. We were eventually left in there on our own and no one came in to ask if we wanted anymore drinks. The food was nice, nothing amazing but plentiful. After we went for a sit outside in the glorious sunshine. We both had a Thalgo facial. Clean and tidy treatment waiting area. Treatment was very enjoyable and staff were lovely. Finished our day later with another swim. All in all a lovely, enjoyable day. Only minor moans. Already mentioned the heat in the pool area, which I understand has to be a certain temperature but it was a very warm day outside. Staff are lovely but not very attentive. The staff in the leisure club area didn't seem bored, although they were polite and offered help when needed. Feel that the place isn't being used to its full potential and was all a little disorganised.

    « Excellent Staff - Wonderful food »

Stayed here for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. We were allocated a four poster bed in a Superior room and a chilled bottle of champagne that I ordered was waiting for us to start our celebrations. Then to our surprise, a celebration tray and personalised card arrived via room service. The room was well equipped with everything we needed - iron, hairdryer, mini fridge and widescreen TV. The internet connection was acceptable for social media and e-mails. We dined in the Oak Room and had a 3 course meal. The service was excellent and the food was amazing - the steaks were cooked to perfection. On the 2nd night, we dined in the bar, and the food was just as good. Chips are the best ever. The hotel itself has a great history and the decor reflects this. The grounds are well kept and there is a wooded area to explore. The swimming pool, sauna and steam room are well worth a visit. All the staff were well trained, professional and polite. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will return next year.

« Sisters birthday afternoon tea »

This is our second visit for afternoon tea at moor hall, this time was for my sisters birthday. We were greeted beautifully and warmly welcomed by staff, the room was beautiful that we sat in as it was raining outside. The selection of cakes and food were beautiful and the cakes were still warm as they are freshly baked! A meme bed of staff asked if we were celebrating anything and on surprise brought out a plate with happy birthday on for my sister ! Love this place would recommend for afternoon tea!

« Murder (mystery) at Moor Hall »

Whodunit at Moor Hall? I recently attended a murder mystery evening at Moor Hall Hotel & Spa with a group of my friends and I have to say we had fantastic evening. We arrived early and took full advantage of the beautiful surroundings the venue has to offer by enjoying a light lunch and a beer (or two) outside on the newsy refurbished terrace. We were looked after brilliantly by the staff who were very friendly and helpful as usual. I wasn't sure what to expect from the evening but the poor acting, exaggerated accents and general laughs a minute from the murder mystery were just what the doctor ordered. My room was cozy and I had a great nights sleep which was followed by buffet breakfast which I was happy to take on as a personal ?all you can eat' challenge. I'd highly recommend Moore Hall to to friends, colleagues and clients for leisure and business activities.

    « Anniversary night away. »

We stayed 23 July for one night. We had a fab time! Weather helped! Friendly staff, immediately changed our room to one with air conditioning at check in, when we asked!! Room clean but dated decor. Maybe that's the style but not my taste. Didn't matter though as we didn't spend much time in it! WONDERFUL meal in the Oak Room. If you're booking for a treat night away make sure you book dinner bed and breakfast rate. Lovely gardens and terrace bar and fantastic spa. All in all a very enjoyable anniversary night away!

    « Afternoon Tea »

I had a lovely afternoon tea here with my sister in law, delicious cakes and sandwiches. It was quite busy, I think everyone had the same idea to treat themselves. Moor Hall is a big old building with creaky floors and big old doors, it a beautiful place.

« Weekend away in pleasant setting »

We enjoyed a weekend away taking advantage of a Secret Escapes special offer. The hotel is Best Western Premier, and adjacent to a golf course. We had a superior room which had fresh fruit, bottled water, chocolates and orange juice. It was quiet and comfortable with a lovely bathroom. Breakfast had a good choice of continental and cooked items. There is a spa with indoor pool and gym. Staff were all helpful and pleasant. There is free wifi and plenty of quiet indoor and outdoor spots to sit and relax. We would return.

« Steps, stairs, fire doors, corridors and no air conditioning! »

Guests at a wedding with an overnight stay. Arrived at 11.30am - and of course the rooms were not available. We had called twice before to alert the hotel that we would be arriving for the wedding and needed somewhere to change. They did say they would do their best - and with just half an hour before the service began we were allowed access to the room. If you are a "bath" person - do check in advance when booking as many rooms are shower only. We had specifically requested a bath - and we got it! A nice, spacious room - sadly no air conditioning or fan and the weather was blistering hot. They had left all the windows wide open, even in the bathroom but unfortunately there was little breeze to help. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room - which I feel is a good plus point, and a safe. (Ours did not work but we did not alert reception because we were rushing to get changed and ready for the wedding.) No porters were in evidence to show us our room and a passport might have been a good idea to find it! The hotel is full of character, old but in need of some TLC. Sadly there are no lifts and you find that you go up a set of stairs, through a fire door, down stairs, along a corridor, through more fire doors, up stairs, round and down stairs, left and right, past meeting rooms etc before arriving at your room. *Best to check the location of your room if you have any mobility problems as it is not an easy treck - certainly not where we were. The guests were already in the room when we arrived - and that was after reversing the down stairs, up stairs, corridors, fire doors, more steps, more corridors, more fire doors and back down to reception - only to find the room was up two flights of stairs - and yes - you guessed - through more doors! The hotel had laid the room out well and the chairs were decorated with seat pads, covers and pretty bows. Another plus point for this. Following the service we were directed out of the room - back down the corridors etc and down stairs to go into one of the many bars. We were able to access the terrace from here and the views over the golf course were lovely. The gardens are maintained - but sadly they had allowed cars to park on the lawns right in front of the hotel - where the photographer was going to take group and family pictures! Not all the tables outside had an umbrella to shade us from the heat of the sun - which was a shame. Photographs done - we were directed back inside - and yes - yet again back up stairs to the room where our Wedding Breakfast was to be served. Again nicely presented and I have to say - an excellent meal followed. Crayfish and prawn tian with seafood sauce & brown bread - this was delightful and was a very big portion, Minestrone soup to follow with parmesan croutons, I passed mine to hubby as this was a bit rich, very, very thick and filling for me. Next was pot roast lamb shank - cooked perfectly and falling off the bone - but succulent - not dry at all. This came with sautéed potatoes and roast vegetables. Dessert was an individual apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream - this too was a success - well presented and tasty and not too large. Fresh coffee and petit fours to end. For hotel food I would say this was extremely good. After the meal we were once again shipped out along the corridors, through doors, and downstairs!!! Guests with limited mobility really struggled as there are no lifts for the access route we had to repeatedly take. Time to socialise, relax and make use of the swimming pool for a few hours before we had to go back up stairs - YET AGAIN - for a well laid out buffet supper. There was various functions going on, business meetings up and downstairs, residents and people coming in to dine plus a variety who were using the leisure facilities and wandering through the hotel, the bars and outside on the terrace - in their fluffy big white dressing gowns as provided by the hotel. In summary - a nice hotel but if you are thinking of booking a function at all - do please check where the room is and its accessibility or you could be very disappointed with the distance you have to travel, all the stairs, corridors and fire doors. Several of us are going to return - but will be going to meet up for a meal. This will be served in one of the many dining rooms - DOWNSTAIRS. And I have no doubt the food will be very good. Our bedroom was very hot - so do request a fan if there is not one in the room.Unfortunately we were located near the bottle waste bins. Sometime before mid night they wheeled out a trolley full of bottles and from the noise and banging these were dropped one by one into the recycle bin - bang, crash, bang crash on and on. This probably sounded worse because we had got all our windows open because of the heat - worth knowing if you want a peaceful nights sleep. I am sorry that this sounds alarmingly negative for me - but I am writing it as it happened and the pitfalls could make or break someone's special day.

« Sunday lunch in Kitchen Carvery - not recommended »

We booked here for my husband s birthday. Booked well in advance but when we arrived they had the wrong name. Staff were very casual and unfriendly. Starters were OK Main courses we couldn't eat. Complained about extremely tough beef comment 'I'll tell the Chef'. Chefs comment " I'll tell the butcher". Sweets were non existent in choice and we were told there were no more available ????? This is a large hotel that has different restaurants and function rooms decided to sit outside and have coffee.... After three attempts of dishwater we left. Will not return. PS. The manager said she wouldn't charge for sweets!!!! What sweets?????

« Pleasantly surprised with the spa facilities and dinner »

My partner and I have just returned from a night at Moor Hall. The pool, sauna and steam room were really lovely. The changing rooms were modern and clean (we're often disappointed with 'spa' facilities when we visit Hall hotels). We didn't have treatments but the staff in the spa itself were friendly and professional. In fact that rang true throughout Moor Hall, a lovely balance of service which we couldn't fault. Our room was not outstanding, it was fairly dated (again as is the case in these older buildings) but nothing to complain about. It had a large flat screen TV and our WiFi signal was strong and access fast. Not particularly spacious but large enough for us both, plenty of storage. Nice robes in the wardrobe and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom has obviously been more recently updated and was very modern and stylish. Both the room and bathroom were spotless. Tea making tray was plentifully stocked with a nice variety; including cafetiere and ground coffee. I was also pleased with the trouser press and iron provided, and you can even hire hair straighteners from reception! The highlight for us - dinner. The menu looked a little pricey but upon eating two courses it is definitely justified. The warm bread served was delicious. I had a Ham hock terrine to start; it was huge! The only fault maybe that it was so big! No complaints here. My partner had asparagus and was pleased. I had duck breast for main and it was exceptional. All the components on the plate were faultless and beyond expectation. Also, the £5 a glass Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was of very good quality for price. My partners steak was a disappointment unfortunately. It was somewhat tough and a little dry. Disappointing when paying that price but he ate it all and was satisfied enough. His sides were tasty and presented well. Breakfast was standard. Service and atmosphere again really great. Nice few touches such a smoothie at the self serve juices, nice fresh fruit and small selection of cereals. The pastries were very delicious. The cooked breakfast was nowhere near the quality of the food the night before. Fairly standard cooked English, serve yourself, some of the food overdone. But it was tasty enough and we enjoyed our breakfast experience overall. Just don't expect anything amazing! Go for : Spa facilities and dinner, very pleasant service throughout Don't go : if your require a large and modern bedroom and want a special or extraordinary breakfast

    « Wowcher spa day »

Three women aged 24. Paid £50 for spa day with 25min treatment. We were greeted by a friend lady called Charlotte who showed us to the bar where we had tea and shortbread overlooking the grounds which was pleasant. We then each had a treatment 1 being a facial and 2 of us had back massage, these treatments were brilliant. Whilst waiting for the treatment we had access to hot drinks and water. All three of us were very happy with our treatments. We then went to the pool which is of an average size. There is a very small sauna and steam room and a jacuzzi. The pool area can be used by club members which is off putting as there were children about. Personally for a spa day I want an adult only zone. There weren't many loungers however we managed to get three together so we could sit and read. We were told we had to book lunch in advance so chose to have two soups and sandwiches and a sandwich with curly fries at around13:15. Lunch was extremely disappointing. Two out of the three sandwiches were wrong, soup came out five mins after, there were chips missing and too top it off one of the glasses was dirty and had a bright red lipstick stain on it. After lunch we relaxed and use the facilities. When we came to leave the staff were apologetic and we did not pay for lunch. I personally would not recommend a spa day here due to the size of the facilities and poor quality of lunch.

Stayed on 9th July 2016 with my sisters and niece for a weekend spa and overnight stay with breakfast. We all had a lovely relaxing stay and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ate dinner in the Country Kitchen and found it very well priced. We would all certainly stay here again. Many Thanks

« Great location let down by facilities »

I stayed at the hotel 12th July 2016. Lovely old building, typical inexpensive style English hotel within the former home of the Ansells Brewery family. Décor and furnishings typically tired and disappointing. Single room very small, but adequate and bed comfortable. Came in after a round of golf on the neighbouring course (absolutely beautifully presented Moor Hall GC) and tried to have a shower-no hot water!! Drinks in bar unnecessarily expensive. Bets hotel breakfast I have had in a long time. So for a somewhat basic accommodation if playing golf, have a shower at the golf club and the bedroom is no more than ok , but ok. Wifi virtually impossible to access without fuss. One left feeling it could have been so much better

« Would not stay here again »

This is a very old and tired hotel that certainly requires a serious uplift. From the outside it looks like a nice hotel. The reception area is nice - but that is where it ends. The corridors are tired and worn. The corridor to our room smelt very funny, damp. We stayed for a total of 3 nights, 2 nights at first, then stayed somewhere else for a wedding then returned. The first night we stayed, even though the room was booked for 2 people, there was only one set of towels, which were marked. When we told the receptionist that the towels were marked and could we have another set, she did not even apologise for the marked towels! The walls are paper thin - and you can hear everyone walking along the corridors. Our relatives stayed in room 7 - this room is next to the door in the corridor - they said that it banged all night long, and was not pleasant. When we checked back in for our remaining night we were booked into room 7 - I refused to stay in this room based on our relatives experience. I am over 6 months pregnant and did not want a night of no sleep. Again the receptionist did not ask why I did not want to sleep in that room - or ask for any feedback, she just moved us. Makes me wonder if lots of people have complained about this room. The bathrooms are extremely dated, definitely not a power shower, more a trickle, with no nice toiletries, and the extractor fan does not work. Breakfast was chaos - when we were seated, the lady was in a flap about something else - we were not offered any tea or coffee, we had to catch another waitress to order - when this arrived a LONG time later the order was wrong, and she tried to just give it to us which we refused and asked for the correct order. We were also not offered toast and had to ask for this, again it took a LONG time for this arrive, having been taken to 2 different tables before coming to us. When 3 couples arrived at 9.45am - this just threw the waitresses into complete panic and meltdown. This is known to be the busiest time towards the end of service and they were totally unprepared. We have relatives who live around the corner, so this hotel was a great location for them - however, I would never stay here again and have told them never to recommend this hotel. We have previously stayed at New Hall, which although is more expensive, is totally worth it in comparison to this run down, old and chaotic hotel.

    « Afternoon Tea »

I went for Afternoon Tea with my sister and for £17.95 EACH, we were expecting the full Monty. However, we were disappointed and can honestly say although it was 'nice' it wasn't worth the money, the Ramada is half the price and just as good. There were 4 finger sandwiches each, the Scone was small and came with only 1 small pot of cream and Jam which we had to share, normally you get a pot each. The cakes were nothing special, we would have preferred more sandwiches to cake ratio. My sister thought the bread was a bit hard. However, the staff were lovely, especially Ryan on Reception who was really helpful and friendly.

    « Beautiful Grounds »

I think some of the reviews on this hotel are unfair. My friend and I stayed her because I found a groupon offer which include spa access, dinner an breakfast. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the rooms are old fashioned but not tired. I think traditional and have character would be more appropriate! We stopped in room 130 which was a twin room with a modern bathroom and amazing power shower. The room was quiet and the towels were lovely and fluffy! Reception staff were friendly and helpful. There are no lifts in the hotel so it may be with mentioning of you have mobility issues. (I didn't see a lift anyway). There were a few niggles with the hotel which I will mention so maybe management can look at. The outside veranda is peaceful and beautiful and I enjoyed a glass of wine whilst I did some work but the tables were so slow to be cleared and cleaned. The waitress wasn't very smiley either. And the main thing that lets the hotel down is the carvery food in the country kitchen restaurant - The meat was beautiful but unfortunately the rest tasted like it had been there for ages. New Potatoes were inedible and hard, parsnips were undercooked and the veg was old and I think the stuffing balls were rock hard. The starters and desserts were nice. Daniel & Jess the waiters were lovely. A credit to the hotel. The carvery server was friendly too. Such a shame - if the food was sorted out I think this hotel would get much better reviews. The pool area was clean and relaxing. There is a small jacuzzi , steam room and sauna. Top tip: take the robe and slippers from your room to spa. We forgot and you don't get one at the spa.

« What a lovely place to spend a girlie spa day and night with mt daughter! »

Overall, we've been very impressed with all aspects of the hotel. Our superior room was as the name suggests and, on arrival, was stocked with a bottle of wine on ice, soft drinks, water and chocolates. Everywhere was clean, staff polite and willing to make your stay as best as it could be. Food in the carvery was ok, we were so full that we took desserts and a tray of coffee back to the room, no problem! Breakfast was served in the restaurant, buffet style, a good selection of hot and continental style food. Spa was clean and very warm, good job there's a fair sized pool to cool off in! The only problem we had was the noise from the car park. I purposely asked for a quiet superior room and didn't get this, had a dreadful night's sleep, was wandering around the hotel in my bathrobe at 4am, couldn't sleep. We were on second floor, room 190, so if you're a light sleeper, like me, please ask about room location when you book and INSIST on a room away from the car parks. Mention this review please, as I have been really disappointed that I didn't get a quiet room when I'd specifically asked for one! Also, we were extremely hot at night, not realising there was an aircon thing in the corner of the room, so check this out when u arrive!

« This hotel is tired! »

I stayed for 2 nights this week and on arrival was offered a very small very tired single room. I returned to reception and was offered another small very old fashioned and tired room. The beds are very uncomfortable and in need of change. I would not return to this hotel until they invest some money on the rooms. The pool area is nice but changing rooms very old and tired as well.. A great place if you are over 70 and appreciate dated properties.

    « Lovely grounds »

We came here as a group of ladies between 25-35 for a hen weekend and we wasn't disappointed, the spa was lovely although wasn't as big as we thought but equally as enjoyable, the grounds was beautiful. The rooms we nice but average but everything u would need for a night away. We didnt eat in the restaurant so can't comment but the breakfast was fab lots of choice. Overall great experience.

« More of a spa half an hour than a spa break »

Myself and my mother like to have the odd spa day (as you do), so when we found a Groupon voucher for Moor Hall hotel Spa break we decided to try it. Now although we would not return I would like to say there were some positives, so we'll start with those. Firstly all staff members that we came across were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful! We found our room very cold and reception organised a heater to be sent to our room. Our window wouldn't open and they sent someone straight away to get it open. I wish I could remember the name of the chap that was front of house at dinner as he was extremely attentive, helpful and friendly and was doing a great job!! The food was very nice and plentiful in the country kitchen. For the price paid on Groupon it was good value to have a bed for the night, Breakfast, dinner and access to the "spa". Now the bad points and our reasons for not returning. The spa was in my opinion and this may sound harsh but, a glorified swimming pool. That was literally it. One room with just a pool, a small bubble pool, a very very small sauna and a small steam room. It became very busy and we couldn't even get a seat to sit on and there wasn't really anywhere to hang your robes so they ended up on the floor. You certainly couldn't spend more than an hour in there before becoming bored of the lack of facilities. It was also quite dirty and no one seemed to be checking on how the room was. Guests had left paper cups on the floor in the steamroom that were just becoming a soggy mess on the floor. There was no toilet paper in the toilets and the toilets were quite dirty with paper on the floor, again a soggy mess. Having spent time at hoar cross hall, aqua sana (centre parcs) and fairlawns this place was a huge disappointment. We would of tried some treatments but unfortunately they had no spaces left for anything which was a shame. The rooms in the hotel were OK, we stayed in room 15. The bed was comfortable but the decor was a bit tired looking. And the walls were paper thin!! while in the bathroom I could here every single word of a conversation as clear as day as if they were in the room with me. So all in all the hotel itself is fine to stay in as a hotel but to come here on a spa break it's dire.

    « We left after one night . . . »

Our satnav guided us past the entrance and to a rear lane in a residential area, so keep your eyes peeled and enter where the sign is located! Our room was on the ground floor, as requested, as they had no lift. It was comfortable, no complaints. We had been asked which restaurant we wanted to eat at and I said one the first night and the other the next night, so we ate at the Owl's Head, the more formal one. We had a terrible dinner -- the starters were sliced octopus, rather tasteless, and four little scallops in pesto. Duck breast usually comes in small slices, pink in the middle. This duck breast was a large dry slab -- just awful. We took a look at the Country Kitchen and it didn't look great, but having later read the other reviews. I think we made a mistake and should have eaten there. We had booked for two nights, but I checked at the desk and found that we could cancel the second night with no penalty, so we did.

    « Good hotel... »

Stsyed here in the romantic break deal, good price and good service. The rooms were large and clean and the spa was decent (although does require a little TLC). The service was good and if your in the area would recommend for a relaxing night away

« Wow, what a fabulous and amazing hotel »

We had the most amazing time at the Best Western Premier hotel and Spa. We stayed for 2 nights and loved every second staying at this hotel. I upgraded our room to a four poster bed and the upgrade charge it was very reasonable and well worth it. The staff were so very friendly - they couldn't do enough to help and the hotel was beautiful. The gardens are also beautiful. The spa was also lovely and very long opening times, so you could make the most of your stay at the Best Western Premier hotel and Spa. The food was outstanding, we ate in the country Kitchen Resturant, which is a cavern menu and it was the best meal we had in a long time. Very generous portions and a huge selections of different staters, main and deserts. The deserts were heaven and such a huge choice. The price of a 3 course car very was incredibly competitive - only £17 each!!! The stay at hotel was so much better than we ever could have imagined. We will rebook in the future as its one of the best UK hotel we have ever stayed at. Thank you so much Best Western Premier hotel and Spa for a wonderful mini break.

Its our anniversary again so decided to have a spa and lunch at Moor Hall Hotel and Spa.What a really nice treat it was too. The hotel is full of old world charm and character and is set in the wonderful Moor Hall Drive, with fantastic views over the Moor Hall golf course.. The pool is fine and the Spa was very nice .we both had a mini facial, which was really nice and relaxing.. Lunch was well cooked and the presentation good, the staff also very nice as always.. Thank you all at Moor Hall for making our special day very special .. 5*****

    « Nice »

Nice is not one of on favourite words but it is most suitable. We got a Secret Escapes deal for DB&B. The staff were lovely, sourcing a fan for us and sorting out any query. The evening carvery was fabulous - with the best tasting cabbage I've eaten (cooked in port) and unlimited puddings! We used it as a one night stop off as it is ideally located near the motorways of the midlands. Will look at booking again if need a mid journey stop again.

    « Country restaurant »

Not as good as I was expecting. Choice of starters very limited and carvery not the hottest. For the extra money its not worth coming here over other carveries. Waitresses very efficient though. What food we did have was nice although as already stated not that hot. Also there was a prom night on which we weren't told about when booking and as the driveway is only one car wide (!!!!!) meant it took twenty minutes to get in the car park. It was 12 years since I was last here and it will probably be a similar amount of time before I return....

    « Girly spa break - fabulous ! »

We had a great time - as we always do! But the staff were especially helpful and polite, beautiful food and treatments. I highly recommend the luxury back treatment ?? the only slight negative was lack of air con made the room hot at night and the pool area was very hot. We are definitely going to be back ! Please note - best to book treatments in advance if you particularly want a specific one.

« Red letter day voucher »

Got this offer from red letter days & personally I think they keep back the good rooms for full paying guests/weddings etc, quite a small room, towels had stains on & hadn't been set our neatly almost like someone was half way through & forgot. Limescale round the ball seal that I could wipe off with finger, something nasty on the wallpaper. All sorted when spoken to customer manager although he only changed towels we complained about & really should have changed all. Very busy, nowhere to park as big party & wedding so had to move car later that night. Bed room right above kitchen so smells. Could do with updating. Had carvery in the country kitchen, very good price for what you get - starters either soup/roll of the day or cold meats/salad (pasta, rice couscous), selection of meats for main, potatoes, Yorkshire, veg & gravy. The dessert either mini selection, hot pudding with ice cream or chocolate cake (to die for). Ate at 830 & was very quiet perfect time to eat as when we walked past at 6ish it was heaving & you couldn't hear anything except voices. Free shortbread on reception. Very friendly staff. Nice terrace & bar. Spa was lovely & clean.

« Country pleasantry just outside Birmingham »

The room decor was a little dated but nevertheless a lovely space looking out onto their rather spacious gardens and golf course. Breakfast was lovely and staff very pleasant. Plenty of grounds to go for walks and explore. Overall a very peaceful and pleasurable stay. Would definitely go again.

    « wonderful »

went here for a night with a friend for a girly spa day to celebrate my birthday. what a place, it is so lovely here. wonderful location in great surroundings. The reception staff were lovely, in fact every single member of staff we met over the 2 days were really friendly, all had a smile and they should be proud of this. We spent the day in spa and a wonderful back and neck massage. the girls were lovely. The 2 staff at the reception were great and so welcoming, nothing to much trouble. we had lunch in the oak restaurant and we shared a fish platter which was to die for. They then bought me a wonderful surprise a large plate with happy birthday on it written in chocolate served with fruit and chocolates. Spent rest of day in spa around the pool using the wonderful facilities. our twin room was clean and good facilities.. We had dinner in the country kitchen restaurant, a great choice of starters at the buffet, followed by a carvery then a selection of desserts. Wine was good too. We spent the rest of the evening in the bar taking our drinks on the lovely terrace. Breakfast was great again with a great choice. I actually can not fault my 2 days spent here and I will def be returning.

    « Sunday spa break »

Pros: Hotel room was perfect with stunning views of the gardens and golf course, loved the fluffy bath robes and slippers, the bathroom was a great size and very luxurious. Spa treatment was a back massage which was very relaxing in a nicely decorated room. Pool, jacuzzi and steam room were awesome but the sauna couldn't fit more than 2 people in. Full English breakfast in the morning was outstanding quality and lots to chose from. The scenery was perfect. Cons: the bed pillows had strands of hair under the pillow case but on top of the pillow. Carvery in the country club kitchen was lukewarm. Hottest bit of food was the cauliflower cheese bake. Service was poor as we were left sitting there wondering whether we ordered or helped ourselves. A pint of lemonade took 15 mins to arrive. We were offered soup to start, it was served in a cauldron as if to help yourself, the waiter said he would get it for us but after waiting 15 mins we just got it ourselves. Not enough parking spaces

« Friendly and helpful staff »

It's not often that you stay in a hotel where the staff are as attentive at Moor Hall. I found the staff to be very friendly and pleasant. I had lost an item of personal belonging; the duty manager spent 30 minutes running up and down stairs and making calls trying to retrieve my belongings. It's not often that staff are prepared to go the extra mile, especially when the loss is not due to their mistakes. I would recommend this Moor Hall simply because their staff make you feel welcome.

« Lovely afternoon tea in an historic country house »

Afternoon tea at the Moor Hall Hotel was in the old building (the original country house). Via the old wooden staircase we were shown to a small room with a choice of tea's or coffee, plenty of cakes and sandwiches and a beautiful view from the terrace over the golf course - A lovely afternoon out in a lovely country house.

    « Highly recommended »

We spent a night here on a groupon deal and would definitely visit again. All the staff were very polite and made the effort to speak to you. The room we stayed in was very nice and quite large. The bathroom was nice, modern and clean. When we arrived we were hungry so sat on the terrace and had a sandwich whilst watching the golfers play. It's a nice quiet place to have a drink on a summers evening. Later we ate in the carvery and it was delicious. The mushroom soup I had to start was very tasty and the meat on the carvery was excellent. I would highly recommend eating there during your stay. The only thing we didn't try was the spa because we didn't have time so I can't comment on that. All in all we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at moor hall, we couldn't fault anything.

    « OK for a business trip »

I stayed here this week for 2 nights as i was on a business trip and i was working not too far from Moor Hall so ideal location. The hotel was in a lovely setting and as i was driving up Moor Hall Drive i thought i was headed for luxury but when i actually arrived in the hotel i was disappointed! The hotel is quite old and it smelt old too! My room was dark and gloomy, very poor lighting, shower wasn't brilliant but the room was quite clean. The staff were really friendly and room service was very punctual but I wasn't impressed to find little fish in my chicken Caesar salad, it was awful!! Breakfast was great, cant complain and again the service was good. The gym facilities were also good. I was disappointed when i came to check out and they couldn't print me a receipt for my evening meals but the lady did say she would forward it on to me, i hope she does. This hotel was ok for my business trip but had i booked this for a weekend away or a special occasion i would have been disappointed.

    « Great spa break »

I booked this after seeing an offer on Groupon. It was a fantastic deal for one night including spa use plus dinner and breakfast. The hotel is in a great central location and only a short distance of no more the 30 minutes by car from most Birmingham attractions. The hotel is in beautiful grounds and we were greeted by very friendly reception staff. The homemade cookies at reception are a lovely touch and are really tasty. After check in and a quick coffee in the room we headed to the spa. Included in the price is use of the gym facilities, pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. My Aunt also managed to book an early morning massage. I tried to book via the spa website upon our arrival but gave up. On the off chance I called the spa and was offered an appointment for the next day which was perfect. Upon our return from the spa we discovered only one bath sheet for both of us to share, no shower gel and no tissues. I spoke to reception and these were very speedily replenished. Dinner in the Country Kitchen was really lovely. A buffet of cold starters or soup greeted us followed by a carvery. We had no room for dessert and just settled for coffee. You must have a drink on the beautiful stone terrace. The gardens are really beautiful and the sunken garden is a real gem. The next morning breakfast was again buffet style but you could order from the menu at extra cost. Please make sure you sample the home made strawberry jam which was delicious. There is ample selection of breakfast items for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The food cold be warmer but it is always difficult to achieve when you are operating a buffet system. By the time we checked out we had exhausted the tea/coffee/milk in our room so I think a few more on the tray would be helpful. The room was equipped with a Guide to Birmingham which was both useful and enlightening. There is also a hairdryer, shower cap and glasses in case you have a cold drink. I think a bottle if water in each room would be good. The welcome chocolates looked like they had been there for a while as the foil was scratched off one of them. The biscuits on the tray were divine and really nice. Overall we had a lovely stay. I completed the comment card and I have received an email from the hotel again apologising for housekeeping malfunction. It is good to know your comments have not fallen on deaf ears. We are definitely looking to return but we will bring our husbands next time so they too can enjoy a relaxing stay at Moor Hall Hotel.

« Great Ascot afternoon great food »

We have been going for some years and the hotel never disappoints. The reception you get is great and the food for so many people was fantastic. Very well organised and a great atmosphere meant everyone enjoyed themselves. We had a table for 8 and we all enjoyed it . Thanks to Ros who is our contact there . See you next year.

I regularly stay at Moor Hall having tried many hotels in and around Birmingham in the last few years and have always found it excellent. Although medium size with good facilities it has a feel of a family run, friendly hotel

« Lovely Break apart from evening meal service »

Hotels and room was great reception staff very friendly and welcoming, used the leisure facilities which were great. Poor service for Calvery meal 8:30 Sunday evening for one slow service waiting to be seated was then taken to our table and left there no information on what to do what was included in the meal no drinks offered, went to the get food the chef wasn't forthcoming had to ask. In the 30 minutes that we were there no waitress came to see how it was n if we needed anything, it wasn't busy it seemed as though they were too busy clearing up to leave. Breakfast in the morning however we no fault service and food brilliant. Great relaxing break barring very poor waitressing service for the evening meal.

« Grounds lovely, but hotel in need of update »

Stayed here at the end of May as a anniversary treat for my partner and myself. Overall it was ok, I wouldn't go mad to stay again but as we're currently in the middle of having our bedroom decorated, it was nice to get away from the mess! I'll list the pro's and cons: Pro's: - Grounds in which the hotel sit are lovely and very well kept - Staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly - The downstairs area of the hotel is nice, traditional wooden panels etc and is very welcoming. - Plenty of places to sit in the bar and a good selection of drinks. - Extra seating in the conservatory area, but you have to be quick as the oldies like to nab these seats to read the newspaper! - Although we didn't eat in the a la carte restaurant, it looked and smelled gorgeous. - My partner said the gym was good, I didn't use it, but I'll take his word for it. - Breakfast was fantastic, its help yourself and there is everything from cooked breakfast to cereal, to fruit, yogurt and pastries Cons: - Being pregnant, I can't use many of the facilities in the spa, but tried to book a treatment 3 weeks before our stay and again a week before. Both times there was no availability for anything! Would be good if the hotel could give an indication of how far in advance these things need to be booked on their website?! - The rooms are clean and tidy, but they are quite dated and could do with a lick of paint. We paid abit extra to upgrade our room to a superior, but I don't really know what we got extra as it looked the same as a standard room on the photos from the website. - Its not much of a treat having what I assume was a hen do, rolling back to their room at 2am, shouting and slamming doors. This went on for a good ten minutes. Sound travels quite badly up and down the corridors, - The carvery could be better. The choice is good and the waitresses are lovely, it just lacked something that I can't quite put my finger on. - The pool area is small with not much seating available. I didn't get to use the pool while I was there as it was so busy. Overall, it was good to get away for the night and it was somewhere that we've never been before. Location is quite good and it was a comfortable stay...but I think for the money you could stay somewhere nicer with better facilities and more up to date rooms. Would I stay again? No, probably not, but I am glad we gave it a try.

« Excellent and friendly hotel »

We booked this stay for my partner completing an important exam. Booked through secret escapes. On arrival the hotel looked lovely. Checked in and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. When we got to the room- was a decent size. We were promised shortbread and strawberries but these weren't in the room. I called down and these were brought up with no problems. We went down for the 3 course meal at the carvary. The staff again were friendly. We were so impressed with the buffet starters and puddings. The carvary was tasty and good quality. The person carving the meat was down to earth and had a good sense of humour. We decided to go back to the room and the assistant manager was stocking up the bar. Again, friendly!! We decided to finish off the strawberries and shortbread- even though we ate so much. There were even chocolates, hot chocs, filter coffee, orange juices, fruit, waters, teas etc included in room price we didn't manage to get onto the mini bar! Had robes and slippers and decided to chill in the room for the evening. The room got quite hot and the air con didn't work properly with the windows closed. This meant we had to open the window- it was gone 12am and there was a lot of noise outside from shouting, laughing etc from the party. This happened for over an hour and a half! Even after closing the window, after a while we could still hear them and the room was too hot. The pillows weren't the best so we decided to ring down for some extra ones. We have had such a good time- we didn't want these few slip ups to ruin our night away. The night porter brought up the pillows very quickly and after that we were a bit more comfy, and had an okay sleep. We were welcomed to breakfast in a friendly manner. The food tasted delicious and we went back to the room to chill for a bit because we had late check out. On check out the receptionist was lovely. Overall we are happy with the stay and want to come back. The staff are friendly and couldn't do more for us. Thank you so much. Chris and Lewis :)

« Average and better out there for the price »

My wife and I stayed here as a little getaway for our anniversary , the service overall was really good from the staff , pleasant and helpful , however the 2 rosette restaurant was average and fairly uninspiring and waiting to get our food was someone what a mission , just to get dessert was a 15/20 min wait with less then 10 covers , this seemed to be the same around the hotel we were waiting a age just to get a pot of tea , no rush in serving you within this establishment , however our worst night came on the Friday, obviously a function on and our room was 2 doors away from it with music blurring out till around 12.30 to 1 am can't believe they would put a normal guest so close to a function, surely a better use would be for those attending the function to be closer as they would be arriving in there rooms possibly at the end of their night, dissapointed to say the least, and for that reason alone wouldn't recommend you staying there if a function is on and your close to it, something I would check if booking .

« Nice hotel but not good quality service »

Hotel and environment is very nice. It is located 25 mins out of Birmingham city center by cab. Rooms are good-sized but a little bit old fashioned. The quality of service in the hotel was not so good as they did not reply to requests on time and did not keep their promises (such as telling somebody to check a problem in 15 mins but needed a call again after one hour to have somebody). Moreover they charged my friend full prize who canceled his reservation a week ago. Then he said "ok give me my room as I paid the full prize to you" but they said they gave his room to somebody else. This is totally not good way of communication. I will not stay in this hotel anymore and I advice you not to stay as well.

« Food was defintly not four star hotel quality!!! »

Me and my partner and two small children stayed at the moor hall hotel on Saturday 11 june. When we arrived and on our way to our room we were met with leaking roofs and wet carpets which was a bit annoying,The room we stayed in was ok and clean and the beds were comfy. The big let down for us was the food in the hotel. We ate in the terrace bar restaurant as it was the cheapest and as we had our two kids we didn't think it would be appropriate to eat in the other fine dining restuaranrts they had to offer, I got the fish and chips which was a big let down as it was overcooked and a bit on the flimsy side ,the chunky chips were not crispy at all and tasted very sweet like they had used potatoes for mashing and not ones for chips,I ate the fish and a few chips but left the rest. For £15/16 I expected a lot more for a hotel with 4 stars. My son had cgicken nuggets and chips , nuggets were not fresh chicken they were frozen. The service in the restaurant was stretched you could see that the staff were running between 2/3 roms for dinner and it took us a long time to get the bill and with two small kids we needed to get out as quick as possible.Breakfast the next day was also pretty average and again this was disappointing.

« Much better second time around »

Following an initial visit we enjoyed our second one much more so. The Duty Manager, Karl, shows outstanding professionalism and a real focus on customer care which is really quite rare. We had a comfortable stay in pleasant surroundings and enjoyed relaxing. Thank you.

« lovely hotel and pleasant staff »

We stayed at the Moor Hall hotel for one night with our four children. On our arrival the staff were very welcoming and even brought us some extra drinks and fruit to our room even though we hadn't requested this. The room was lovely and spacious with a great bathroom and spa bath, much to the children's delight! Lots of towels were provided which was great. The pool and leisure facilities were fantastic. We had our evening meal and breakfast in the county kitchen restaurant, both were very satisfactory. We are very happy with our stay here and would definitely come back!

« Nice surprise nice location. »

Stayed at this hotel because it is fairly close to a job that I am working on. It is in a beautiful location with great surrounding gardens & golf course. The hotel building is impressive & seemed to be very well maintained, it was busy & I did not notice anyone with a glum expression face. My room was very nice with plenty of space for me to relax with all the expected amenities, a nice view through a big double window. The minor gripe was that there were no socket outlets close to my bed where I could plug my phone or lap top into during charging. This is my first stay at this hotel & I liked it that much that I have booked again for next week & I will probably continue to do so until the job & I am working on is complete sometime in the new year.

    « Amazing staff... »

I stayed at Moor Hall during a recent trip for work. My four week stay turned into eight weeks. Each morning in the dining room I was greeted by the most amazing "breakfast team" - Katie, Jenny, Chelsea, Amy, Sue, Anne and Tracey. I entered the UK and Moor Hall not knowing anyone and left with fond memories and friends. We talked of family and they gave me tips on things to do and see outside of work and truly helped make my stay amazing. Although I was anxious to get back to the states and my family I was sad to leave the gals that I had met and enjoyed over the course of my stay. They made my trip and I truly felt I was leaving friends. Well done Moor Hall on an excellent team.

« A proper carvery where they carve the meat like on the films! »

I went for a Sunday lunch expecting a carvery instead it was a superb 3 course meal for £14.99. The meat carver certainly didn't believe in thin slices. There were 4 in our party and we all had different meat all had the same opinion ,it was the tasties meat out of any of the carveries around Birmingham .I must comment on the veg it cooked properly none of the aldente rubbish ,together with the large choice of starters and sweets it was all a delicious bargain .It is a little cramped for room but the helpful staff make sure everybody is looked so well that space is not an issue.Make sure you book early!

    « Wonderful anniversary celebration »

This was our first visit to Moor Hall to celebrate our anniversary. We had a wonderful room with a four poster bed and a beautiful view of the the grounds. The spa facilities are great, the pool was lovely and well maintained. Dinner was superb, we upgraded to the Oak restaurant and I can't fault the dinner and wines at all. The only point to note is that there is a dress code to use this restaurant, however a group had been allowed in with track suits and trainers which lowered the tone for other diners and ourselves. Breakfast was also delicious and the customer service was excellent throughout the entire stay. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

« Seminar event and Overnight Stay »

I hosted a customer seminar event for 60 people in the Sutton Room today. The room itself was stunning, a perfect venue for a presentation type event and the equipment, projector and screen etc was all top class. The conference staff, particularly Gail and Karl were exceptionally helpful and the whole team were professional and quick to react to any request. I would not hesitate to re-book Moor Hall in the future. As for my overnight stay, the room was large and modern and the restaurant (carvery) was possibly the best value for money that I have experienced, the quality of food was exceptional. Thank you and well done on reaching such a high standard.

We weren't rushed and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We will be back soon

    « back again! »

our third stay since Christmas, that alone bears testament to how much we rate this hotel! Always look forward to returning there, great staff, rooms, surroundings and one of the best pints of Guinness you'll get outside Ireland! always leave with a tinge of sadness ,but feeling so relaxed we feel we have been there longer than we actually have..Isn't that the way it should be? I think so...so until next time......

« Great for a seminar or meeting, Friendly staff »

I recently visited Moor Hall whilst attending a meeting. We were kindly offered a tour of the hotel and spa as well as the picturesque grounds. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and worked hard to ensure that we were all comfortable throughout the day. There are a number of conference rooms perfect for meetings , seminars and conferences. I highly recommend the afternoon tea.

    « Hotel for a special occasion »

Went here for a weekend to celebrate our friend's golden wedding anniversary. The hotel was set in huge grounds and surrounded by a golf course. It was sumptuous. The staff were just terrific. Our room was magnificent: everything you could every need. The special lunch was terrific and the staff did our friends proud. There were 2 functions going on at the same time and yet we felt we were the only ones. Well done the Moor Hall hotel. For that special occasion I don't think there is anywhere better in the Birmingham area.

« Very good wedding venue »

This hotel has long had a good reputation but this was my first visit and I wasn't disappointed. It's a lovely setting in a well-maintained (and extended) Victorian building of character with spacious grounds and overlooking a golf course. The wedding ceremony was very well organised and the wedding breakfast was really good. Excellent service and good food, nicely presented and tasty! Well done everyone concerned.

    « Afternoon tea »

Lovely location for afternoon tea. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who directed us to the lounge for tea, but weren't sure on arrival where to sit due to lack of staff. However, once seated it was a nice level of service - once we had everything, we were left to ourselves. Gorgeous little walk beside the golf course afterwards. Food very pleasant; we've had more generous afternoon teas for the price, but there was enough that we felt replete while there were still a couple of little cakes left: for these we were provided with a box to take them with us. Plenty of space in the lounge despite it being a bank holiday.

We held a business social event in the Ladywood Room and the service we received was fantastic, the staff couldn't do enough for us and the food was outstanding. « A great place for a meeting! »

A small meeting of ten people was handled beautifully. Great meeting facilities were provided with a discrete area for eating, the buffet was excellent and the service was great. The hotel itself is the right mix of traditional architecture with modern decor creating a warm atmosphere and welcome. I will definitely be using the hotel again.

    « Could be better »

Stayed for a weekend. Front of house very friendly and extremely helpful. Room was clean and full of the usual toys like coffee and WiFi and TV etc etc. The bed was soft but okay. Any softer and you may require a crane to lift you out. Used the Spa which is adequate but far too loud - even in the Sauna and Jacuzzi (why can't people see these as areas for relaxation - not as an opportunity to test the acoustics). The food. Hm - not so good. We used the country kitchen for one dinner and one breakfast. Dinner was decidedly average - carvery + one or two other options. Quantity was fine but the quality nothing to shout about. The atmosphere in there is not relaxing and more akin to a canteen than a "country kitchen". Breakfast was similar - there was a wedding the night before so I was like a scrum at times. Even if you had your table people were barging past to get their food or to sit at there own table. Again the food was average. Had a bite for lunch on the terrace and had this idea someone would come and ask me what I wanted etc. Nope - you have to go inside and order and then they bring it out. Ordering inside was problematic - if the phone rings or they need to chat with a colleague this will take priority. In this area in particular the arrogance of some of the staff was shocking. No eye contact, dismissive and ignorant. This was a shame as the team on reception were faultless and the reception area leads you to believe this is going to be something special. Well it could be, but far more attention to detail is required.

    « Charity support event »

We are a group of cyclists from Sutton Coldfield who participated in a charity fundraising event this last weekend, from Barmouth in Wales to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. We cycled the 300 mile route in 24 hours, and we had scheduled stops. I approached Moor Hall to see if they would be willing to support our event by laying on much needed food and the chance to meet our families, as they were also supporting the same charity, Breast Friends. They were excellent, their support to supply us great food and a room to eat it in and change clothes etc was a significant boost to our morale, with still 180 miles left to cycle. We cant thank them enough for what this meant to us personally and for the support of the charity. Excellent

We had a lovely time at this hotel using a Groupon offer for dinner and nights stay, which we felt was really good value. Very comfortable room, nice pool, lovely dinner, beautiful grounds and very friendly staff. Charlotte in particular was very helpful at reception. Thanks for a great stay!

I took hubby for a birthday treat. Hopefully he came away feeling relaxed like I did. great back massage, lovely grounds, food was lovely, spa, pool, steam room, all clean. Needed more private changing rooms and need more toilets around. The pool was rather small. Staff friendly and have good knowledge

« Lovely hotel with great food and wonderful staff »

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend treat and were really impressed with everything there. Our room was really clean and tidy, newly refurbished with a very comfortable bed. The meal in the Oak Room was 1st class - why not go for a Michelin star ? The spa was super and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Milos in the restaurant who made the evening interesting and fun. Will definitely visit again.

« It was a beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting »

We stayed for 4nights at this hotel. It was really a lovely stay. Fabulous location. The staff were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We were going to have dinner there but thought that the menu was not very exciting. There were lots of people in for both lunch and dinner so the quality must have been good. It just didn't do it for us. We will definitely stay there again.

« Hotel by the Golf Clutse »

We were warmly greeted on arrival and although we were earlier than expected our room was ready for us. We were in the area for a funeral and stayed for one night only. On being made aware of the reason for our visit the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, and took time to tell us the best way to get to the venue. We had a light lunch before heading off and a drink in the bar later in the evening. Breakfast next morning was excellent and we were greeted with smiles from staff at reception and in dining room and asked how the previous day had gone. Very impressed. We have stayed here in the past and since then many of the rooms have been refurbished. Our room was large and well appointed with a nice new bathroom. Would definitely stay again.

    « Afternoon Tea »

We went to Moor Hall Hotel and Spa for Afternoon Tea with our Family to celebrate my Sons 30th Birthday. On arrival we were very politely escorted to a private small Dining room wonderfully set out for us overlooking the Gardens and Golf course which we didn't book but as it was available we were offered at no additional charge - Top Quality Service! The Hotel is spectacular and the Service we received was absolutely Brilliant and second to none. The Afternoon Tea was superbly put together even with Children as young as 6 years old catered for. Obviously Tea was included and additional drinks were available at reasonable Hotel prices. Exploring the Grounds and the History of the Hotel after Tea was great and tired us all out before a relaxing time on the well managed, clean and Tidy terrace. We would recommend the Hotel and its Afternoon Tea to anybody who understands and values Quality at its best!

    « Amazing »

Staff really friendly, clean and comfy, we got a really good deal, one nights stay, with 3 course dinner for 2, full breakfast each, use of jacuzzi, pool etc included. Twin from comfy beds, lovely surroundings, easy to find. Henry VIII used to stay here.

    « Cosey »

We went at the beginning of May during the week day. There was a good range of vegetarians and alcohol free options available. Food was well presented, staff were attentive, cosey atmosphere, decent portions and of course lovely decor. It's well worth the visit, my favourite part was desert though, that was the highlight of the meal.

    « 100th birthday Celebration »

This is a lovely venue, you can have a Spa experience and it has a golf course. We hired the Bracebridge room for a family celebration, and many of us stayed overnight at the hotel. Our celebration night was great, the food and service was spot on, special mention for Jamie who was so helpful and attentive...no request was too much for him. recommend this place if you want to celebrate in style.

    « afternoon tea »

Went for afternoon tea , twelve of us on May 12th. Afternoon tea is expensive and extra drinks push the price up further, however, the surroundings and staff , in particular Ryan who went out of his way to make the experience extra special complimented the occasion, making it worthwhile.

    « Daughter's wedding. »

The night before the wedding we had seventeen family and friends meet up and have a meal. They put us in the Ladywood Room and we had the room to ourselves which was brilliant. The next day the civil ceremony, drinks, canapés, wedding breakfast, bedrooms and all staff were absolutely fantastic, this turned our daughter's wedding into a magical day. We have had many family and friends comment at what a fabulous day it was. Sally (wedding coordinater) you are amazing no question was to trivial for you, this made Rachel and Daniel's experience very memorable. Thank you to all of you. XX

« Great food, great accomodation and lovely atmosphere »

I stayed here on business two weeks ago. I also ate in the a la carte restaurant (there is also a carvery one). The food was excellent. The staff were keen to clean up and myself and two colleagues were enjoying our chat as you do. The staff resisted the temptation to do what most staff do in those circumstances and hurry you out. They were very patient and understanding. The accommodation itself was also excellent. Good wifi speed too. Free parking is also a bonus these days. I will certainly stay again. The bar staff were very friendly and accommodating too.

« Nice time had by all »

Hotel was nice although the rooms are not 4* IMO. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the leisure facilities were all really good. We ate in the oak room and the food was excellent (apart from the disappointing cheese board). Breakfast was also good. Would return for sure.

    « Outstanding professionalism throughout. »

Friends wedding, food excellent and plentiful throughout, could only get a double room with double bed for myself and best friend, with the promise of a twin should there be a cancellation. No cancellations, but was given 2 single rooms for the same price, brilliant service by happy and courteous staff. My standard single room was bigger than any double I've stayed in! Excellent Maitre D' quietly observing/overseeing the wedding meal, faultless from start to finish.Bottle of wine £19,not a criticism,as I expect this is normal in a place like this, but want to let people know so guests make sure they take enough funds! :) Beautiful place, will come again.

    « Hen Party »

Visited Moor Hall today on a hen party package. The package included tea coffee and toast on arrival. Use of the spa facilities. A treatment and a buffet lunch. There were three hen parties booked in today as well as hotel guests using the pool and facilities. There were 10 in our party. The spa was not big enough for all of the people trying to use the facilities and only 8 beds and 8chairs around the pool. The buffet lunch was served late. Consisted of the bare minimum of food, dumped on the table by 2 members of staff who were never to be seen again. We were offered nothing to drink no jugs of water on the table nothing. If it wasnt for the prossecco purchased by our beautiful bride to be at £25 a bottle we would have had nothing to drink. The changing room was so small you were tripping over people not good at all. On a high note the facial treatment was brilliant. No complaints there at all. T he company of my fellow hens and the wonderful treatment made the day. Future hen parties check out the facilities first and the number of bookings on the day you wish to visit.

    « A must visit »

The Moor Hall Hotel is a wee gem in the Birmingham area. It is set in lovely surroundings with a gold course on the doorstep. The building itself has loads of character. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food in either the restaurant or bar is delicious. I would highly recommend a visit here.

    « Peaceful break »

We had 24 hours to escape life and the excellent service and environment of the hotel enabled us to recharge ourselves. Although a Ball was taking place we didn't hear a sound as we settled to a welcome nights sleep. We dined in the Oak Room which was a welcome change from the carvery option. Service was the right balance of discrete with attentive. No calling us 'guys' as in some chain hotels!!

    « Fragrance gone mad! »

We stayed here for a night following a family celebration, and we thought it merited an average score. Everything was okay, nice food, decor in good state, nice grounds, pleasant staff. But.... One big drawback, the bedroom had been air freshened beyond belief! a really sickly cheap fragrance they we just couldn't get rid of even after leaving the windows open all afternoon. It did make us wonder what smell they were trying to mask.... Lots of parking, lots of rooms, it was ok overall.

    « Lovely food »

« nice driveway to a tired hotel »

On it's day this hotel must have been quite magnificent but it needs investment to smarten it up to be a good hotel or better. The rooms were OK but our TV didn't work properly for example, the barman wouldn't bring drinks we ordered to our table ten yards from the bar even though he wasn't busy, the chef didn't know how to make soft scrambled eggs..........nothing terrible but nothing brilliant - just OK.

« First Class From Start To Finish »

We have just returned from an over night break at this hotel on a Wowcher Deal. Everything about the hotel is first class, right from check in to check out. We arrived a little before the check in time, so thought we would have a look round the hotel first. We found our way through the hotel and onto the terrace, where we sat for a while in the sunshine. Our first impressions were very positive and stayed that way throughout our time there. The check in was very quick and efficient and a polite young lady told us the way to our room. We were on the first floor in a superior double room and the bedroom looked out onto the gardens and golf course, which was lovely. The room was larger than most hotel rooms we have stayed in and was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The added little touches like a few chocolates and complimentary bottled water, along with two soft drinks, plus some fresh fruit, ware most welcome. There was a free safe in the wardrobe, along with bath robes and slippers and there was a mini bar, which you could have stocked if you wished, along with the usual tea/coffee/biscuits etc. The bathroom was quite large and modern and had complimentary toiletries, along with a hand gel dispenser on the wall and was spotlessly clean. We took advantage of the leisure facilities and were most impressed again. We enjoyed our swim in a fair sized pool and made use of the sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi .The changing rooms were small but very clean and had two showers and the usual facilities. Our dinner reservation was in the Country Kitchen Dining Room, which serves a three course carvery and everything about it was very tasty and well cooked. There was a range of desserts to suit all tastes and although we were quite full we managed to sample some of the delicious offerings. Tea or coffee was included and we were waited on by friendly, efficient and very polite young men and women who were a credit to the dining room team. The room was only small but very cosy and there is also another restaurant for clientele with more cosmopolitan tastes and that looked very nice too. After dinner we relaxed in one of the many small, but snug lounges, with a drink from the bar. There are lots of different rooms, for lots of different functions and there is a huge conservatory overlooking the garden area, where you can sit and admire the views. The hotel manages to combine the modern with the 'olde worlde' with the greatest of ease and it works very well. Our only regret was that we had not booked a longer stay at this lovely, relaxing place, but maybe next time!! Everything was just perfect and the staff really make you feel very special and nothing is too much trouble, as they want you to enjoy your time at this lovely hotel. I would recommend it to anyone that wants something a little bit different, in beautiful surroundings, with friendly staff who care about their guest's comforts..

« Themed night great food »

Didn't stay over at the hotel, went to a themed night there. The room we were in for our meal was lovely and the food very well presented, hot and very tasty. My friend and I had the salmon served with new potatoes and was delicious. The men had chicken which they enjoyed and the chocolate brownie at the end was to die for Would definitely return

    « Elegant and fresh »

    « Wifi and Phone reception issues...again! »

I work away a lot and use Moorhall when working in the Midlands. I find the grounds lovely and enjoy the open fires at dinner when enjoying my evening meal. I do find the rooms a little dated, perhaps this is just my personal preference and the bed uncomfortable on a few occasions. Having said that, the staff are marvellous, polite and friendly nothing is too much trouble. The major frustrating factor of this hotel is the poor wifi and zero phone signal in many of the rooms which is essential when away on business. After a call to reception...not from my mobile obviously, they rebooted the service and it improved. The food is lovely and I'm sure if I was staying solely for leisure purposes rather than work my rating would be 4/5.

    5
    « Amazing! »

Fabulous room- spotlessly clean, staff were wonderful, Spa a lovely experience and dinner and service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and the service we received at dinner was incredible. Will certainly be returning to this hotel and we had a lovely relaxing stay. All I can say is thank you x

    « Conference venue »

The company I work held it's annual divisional conference at this venue in the Charter Suite. Facilities were very good, staff very attentive and the day went without any drama. We held a dinner in the evening for about 80 and the food was better than I expected for an event of this type. Many of us stayed overnight, the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was also very good and plentiful.

    « Champagne afternoon tea »

We visited Moor Hall today for a celebration afternoon tea for my mother in law's 70th birthday. The ladies serving us, Connie & Kerry, were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We had our tea in the gallery and the intimate atmosphere added to the occasion. The pastry chef should be commended too. As a keen cake maker myself I thought the quality & selection was fantastic and extremely good value for money. The treacle tart was divine! The only down side was listening to my mother in law coo about her birthday treat for the 40 miles back down the m42 and a further hour when we got home ?? Thank you Moor Hall, it was everything we wanted, and more importantly what my lovely mother in law deserved X

« Great welcoming weekend break »

    « 70th Birthday Celebration »

Perfect venue, perfect surprise party for my Dad! Having been married here 10 years ago Moor Hall was the only choice to hold such an important evening for my Dad. The staff were amazing and utterly professional throughout. They could not have been more helpful and attentive to us and our guests. We were looked after by Jamie who deserves a special mention as he went above and beyond to make our evening one to treasure. The Charter Suite is simply stunning and the views from the conservatory are lovely. The food was excellent and many of our friends stayed overnight and enjoyed the hearty breakfasts the following morning. I would highly recommend holding your special event at Moor Hall.

    « Nice Hotel Overall »

Nice hotel and surroundings, very traditional. Food and Bar area nice with open fire. Room Clean and Comfortable, Personally I wouldn't put the rooms in 4star category could probably do with a little tasteful updating etc. We had a problem with the shower as could not adjust the scalding hot water . But it was resolved by the porter who had to make a repair. (not Ideal as I am sure it would have been noticed by room service prior) but they did attend promptly. But overall a nice stay with excellent food. The pool, sauna, steam room and changing rooms are small which is a bit of a let down but the back massage was excellent. Would not hesitate to stay again

    3
    « Overnight spa break »

The hotel is set amid a golf course to the north of Sutton Park. The building is quite grand and the interior very traditional. The welcome was friendly and efficient. As we were on a discounted voucher we were given a standard double room (room 3). The room was nicely furnished with dressing gowns and slippers provided. There was no view as the window faced a wall/window about ten feet away. There were a few issues with the room, for example curtains would not close. The swimming pool area was very nice, modern and clean. But there as only about eight beds so you will need to be lucky to get two relaxer beds together. We had an evening meal included in our package. The food and service were both nice but not great. For what we paid we got excellent value for money. But my three star rating is based on paying the regular price.

« An oasis, well placed for NEC »

We stayed here recently while attending a 3 day Exhibition at NEC. Took advantage of their 'Spring Break' - 2 nights b&b plus one night dinner at £200 for 2. Very well appointed hotel based in a country house built in 1905. Has been extended sympathetically over the years but still retains that Country House feel. The public rooms are very comfortable with much of the original oak paneling and stained glass in tact. The fireplaces have been kept - there were open fires in the reception area, the bar and the main restaurant. There is a well appointed gym and pool/spa. The rooms, although not large are adequate, although 2 armchairs instead of one in the room would have been nice. The bathroom had clearly been recently renovated and was fitted to a very high spec. There are pleasant grounds and gardens overlooking the adjacent golf course. Small touches such as complementary canapes in the bar one evening made the stay very pleasant. It was a 14 mile/20 minute drive to the NEC and I would recommend it, and use it again.

    « Why look elsewhere »

This hotel is a real hidden gem. From the lovely private drive to well kept grounds, I can not fault this hotel. I've stayed in many hotels and there are many who have more stars that do not compare. The reason being the staff. Put simply, everyone cares. You are welcomed and acknowledged by everyone. From the front of house through to the maintenance team. The food is superb and the rooms are perfect. From standard to delux there's something for everyone. I will definitely be back (with the family and for business). And finally the wi-fi is very fast and easy to use. So I was able to get plenty of work done. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

    « Nice, friendly hotel. »

Visited this hotel a couple of days ago and stayed for a night to celebrate my birthday. The room itself was a little dated, but clean and tidy with a modern on suite bathroom, (but no bath). We visited the Spa area for a swim and sauna and there are beds with cushions In there to relax on, a warm temperature in and out of the pool area, sauna, steam and jacuzzi also. I have to say the service is brilliant, very efficient and friendly and the food is excellent! Defiantly worth a stay if you like quaint, with a 9 hole golf course and lovely country walks. Also there are generally deals on Groupon for an extra good price! ??????

« Great place to stay but uncomfortable bed »

We went for a weekend away for our anniversary - the staff were great and the hotel was lovely. They left a chocolate message that said 'Happy Anniversary' in the room, a nice touch. There were weddings happening over the weekend we stayed, but it didn't interfere with our stay. The noise level was fine and the stay was good. The room was clean and very large but the bed was the only problem - it was very uncomfortable. I thought it was just me, but my husband agreed. The restaurants were great and the food was amazing. A good place to stay overall. We used the fitness suite as well and they have free classes to join for pilates, spinning and aerobics. The changing rooms were clean and well maintained and the pool, sauna and steam room were great too. I would recommend this to anyone.

    « spa weekend »

I was supposed to attend a Spa weekend with a friend for her special Birthday. She cancelled due to illness but since I was flying in from Germany I didn't want to loose all that money so I went alone. I had a lovely time the treatments were fantastic. I had a meal in the Oak-room. Not only was the service first rate as once the manager knew I was alone ensured whole team were very attentive and ensured I did not feel uncomfortable alone but the food was plentiful and delicious. Thank you to all who made my solo Spa weekend a wonderful experience.

    « 50th Wedding Anniversary »

We booked this hotel following a cancelled venue and we are so glad we did, the day was organized by Sally Lane (Events Manager) and her team. The room and table were dressed to perfection and the excellent menu was served by the dedicated service staff. When we arrived we noticed that was a overhead projector and within a few moments one of the team connected my computer (memories of the last 50 Years) to enhance my presentation. After a very successful day the quests wound down in the Ladywood Room which had been reserved for our party prior to departing. If you are planning a Wedding, Anniversary or Special Event you should consider this venue as your first choice

I went to Moor Hall for a spa day last year and ever since i have attended every 2 months for a spa treatment! I pick a different treatment each time and i have always left Moor Hall feeling excited about which one i am going to chose next! I have the majority of my spa treatments with Amie and she truly is a credit to the company! All the spa staff are friendly and a delight to talk to. I always highly recommend Moor Hall to anyone looking for spa days or the one off spa treatment.

The room was clean and suited us. We will definitely return.

    « Wonderful Overnight Stay »

We stayed at Moor Hall on Easter Saturday as we were attending the evening reception of a wedding being held there. We had also booked in for afternoon tea as it was my brother-in-laws 60th birthday also. The bedrooms were lovely especially my brother-in-laws who I had upgraded for his birthday. I had mentioned in my email when booking the rooms that I would like a nicer room for him as it was his 60th birthday. When going into the room there were chocolates left for him and a card to celebrate his birthday which I felt was a really lovely touch. The afternoon tea was yummy and the wedding reception was great. Breakfast the following day was buffet style but very nice and everything was piping hot. All the staff at the hotel were wonderful and very friendly, nothing was any trouble for them. I can recommend this hotel to anyone

My Sister & I had enjoyed a relaxing day at the Spa, the spa is as good as any, however we did enjoy a fabulous massage - that is highly recommended, however the one thing I would avoid is the food...the service was poor, we pre-ordered and still had to wait 45minutes for salad!! When the actual food arrived it was incredibly disappointing...way too much sauce, it was sickly, the chicken salad was just lettuce really...however it didn't spoil a good day, we would just avoid dining next time.

« Wonderful birthday family weekend. »

Fourteen of us have just had a fabulous weekend at the moor hall hotel. The staff were excellent particularly Connie who took it upon herself to do whatever she could to make our stay as good as it could be.. as a large party we were treated so well and always had a wonderful space to be together. The hotel itself US lovely and our superior rooms were spacious and luxurious. All in all great value for money.

    « Really impressed »

Stayed overnight on a package when attending a Murder Mystery Evening. From check in , to walking round this olde worlde building to the room comfort and bar area every thing was excellent. All staff were pleasant , attentive without being intrusive . On a huge plus the bar prices for a hotel were also ( in my mind ) exceptionally reasonable. Never got chance this time to sample the Spa / pool / Sauna area but a return visit to sample the free use of the slippers and fluffy robes may be on the cards. Would have been cheaper maybe not to stay overnight as we love quite close geographically , but I am so glad we did and hope we get chance to again

« Spa treatments and lunch »

The setting of the hotel was lovely and the hotel and Spa was very comfortable and spotless. Me and my mom were very impressed with the spa treatments and the staff were lovely and helpfully. However, we stayed for lunch in the bar area. Initially, the lady who served us didn't really seem to know what she was doing and didn't seem to have very good customer service, but did seem more attentive after. We had to wait ages for our food to arrive and we had only ordered sandwiches and chips. The sandwiches were dry and the chips weren't very hot. Considering the standard of the hotel we were expecting much better. Another family also complained how long there food took too. 2 very large parties came in after we had got our food and God knows how long it would have took to get our food if we would have arrived after them. Me and my mom had said after the spa how impressed we were and that we would definitely go back and have a full spa day with the lunch included. However, the whole lunch experience let us down and changed our minds. Can't fault the spa experience though and would definitely recommend that.

As ever, Moor Hall came up to the standard we expect from them. Have visited several times and the staff are extremely pleasant and always say hello when they see you. The room was clean and comfy. Will definitely be back again soon.

We booked the Ladywood Room for my mother's funeral reception. Lovely setting, beautiful private room and excellent service from staff. Food was good, too. Everything perfect for the occasion. Thank you.

    « 2 night break »

Stayed here recently as we were attending a birthday meal nearby so booked in on a 2 night break for £200 which was great as it was DBB for the first night and B&B the second which was perfect for what we needed. Our room was OK the heater wasn't working but that didn't bother us as the room was quite warm. It was clean and comfortable with a more "traditional" decor rather than modern which was quite a contrast with the bathroom which was a modern porcelanosa suite. The bath didn't drain properly and ended with a foot bath whilst having a shower (this was reported on checkout), and the sink was quite small but all clean and perfectly functional for a short stay. Bed was comfy but if you have a window open at the front of the hotel you can hear everything! Dinner was lovely but beware they will book you a time for dinner and you may not get in if you arrive late! This nearly happened as we got caught in traffic and arrived around 8pm and when asked about booking in for dinner (we didn't pre book dinner purposely as we didn't know what time we'd arrive) they said they had us booked in for 7:15pm! Which we hadn't booked and we were unaware of this reservation! They then had to call the duty manager to see if they could fit us into the oakroom and would call us if this was OK....we didn't get a call but we it chased up and found they got us in for 8:30pm. The food was lovely, very tasty and service was efficient and in line with a 2 rosette restaurant but would be nice if the staff smiled a little more! Breakfast was great, a nice selection of food both hot and cold and the ladies who worked that shift were bubbly and smiling which was nice to see at the start of a day. Reception was friendly but need to double check some info as we were told that four Oaks station was a 10min walk away.....it was about double that! But this wasn't an issue as we got the bus into Birmingham in the end and the lady on reception was a trainee so was perfectly forgivable. We didn't get time to use the leisure facilities but if they matched up with the rest of our stay I'm sure they would have been great! Would stay again ??

« Nice hotel, apart from room too hot »

We stayed here for one night in room 154, it was nice room apart from it being very hot, room was above kitchen, breakfast was nice and spa was good, apart from hot tub was a bit cold and had to wait nearly ten mins for it to reset itself again, was busy with wedding, so would advise to check if functions are on if you want a quieter stay.

    « Nice Hotel & Spa »

Had nice weekend here with lovely room and good facilities. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Asked reception for some more milk in the room and it was delivered almost immediately. Bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Food was good but no better than our local carvery. Breakfast was good albeit a little too cool as the plates were not warm to begin with. Country Kitchen restaurant was full when we went for breakfast but we were shown almost immediately into the oak room restaurant instead of waiting for a space to become available in the country kitchen. This was a much bigger restaurant with lovely decor. Had full use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room. The hotel has lovey gardens which are well worth a look around. Overall a good weekend. We would go again but hope they warm the plates up first before breakfast!

    « Fantastic stay »

We had a fabulous weekend. Couldn't fault the hotel or staff. Definitely come back again. Staff attentive, friendly, chatty and efficient Food was excellent whether in the bar or resturant. Rooms excellent. Enjoyed the use of the spa and definitely chilled afterwards.

    « 70th birthday afternoon tea »

We visited the hotel for an afternoon tea for my 70th birthday and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and so was the service. The pastry chef should be commended for her brilliant crisp light pastry, her scones and cake. Out of this world. The girl who served us was efficient and very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I can highly recommend them.

    « fantastic stay »

Staying overnight with 3 ladies, treating one friend's 50th birthday treat. We were treated well by all staff and had a lovely afternoon tea, spa treatment, carvery dinner and of course lovely breakfast. Were too comfortable to move away each time!

    « Brilliant »

I took my partner for a weekend spa break on valentines weekend. We had such a lovely time, the food was beautiful, the rooms were cosy. The staff were lovely and polite. The spa was clean and very hygenic, also very relaxing. We will be back again soon!

    « Wonderful 70th Birthday weekend »

Perfect location, excellent room, staffing levels exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for them. Had a very enjoyable party meal in the Country Kitchen and also an evening meal on our second night. I have Coeliac disease and it was good to know that they cater very well with gluten free gravy always and plenty of fresh gluten free bread. On our last day my daughter joined us for coffee who also suffers from Coeliac disease and we both ordered gluten free scones - wow ! - they were the finest we have ever tasted as the pictures shows - we long for our next stay so we can indulge again !!!

    « enjoyable »

this hotel I can well recommend the staff was 1st class and the hotel was clean, the room as large and well decorated. the food was 1st class. our first time in a best western but not our last. the grounds are well kept and need to go back in summer to sit in them

    « An excellent 50th birthday treat »

Hotel is located in such beautiful surroundings and we were all given a very warming welcome esp by Connie. The food in the the country kitchen restaurant was superb. If I had to find any fault it would be that accessibility to the spa changing rooms and pool were poor due to steps. Overall a most enjoyable stay.

    « Overnight stay »

We stayed for one night for the Soul and Motown night on Saturday 5th March. The evening was great, well organised and I'd like to give Jamie a special mention - He organised us a table for two which was much appreciated and his friendly, approachable style is a credit to the hotel. Only criticism would be the rooms. We paid an extra £25 to upgrade to a superior room. Superior it wasn't! The room was dated, had a damp smell, puckered carpets, bathroom was tired with old tiling and a sub standard finish. Definitely in need of a refurb. Overall an enjoyable stay but mainly because we were using facilities/event rather than the room.

    « Bring ear plugs »

Lovely place, lovely grounds, lovely room, great food, spacious rooms, friendly staff. We used the leisure facilities but they were very busy on the Saturday afternoon as there was an event on, plus it was Mother's Day weekend, so not very relaxing. Much better on the sunday morning when there was only a handful of people there. Didn't have any treatments. My only complaint is that the walls are PAPER THIN. We were in room 77, having gone to bed relatively early we were woken up later by the sound of the two women in the room next door arriving back. Now they were only talking at normal conversation level but we heard almost every word. They may have had the tv on too, or maybe that was the room the other side, or above?! So take your ear plugs just in case!

    « Motown night »

We stayed over at moor pool hall hotel & spa for a Motown evening.. I would recommend anyone who's looking for a great nights entertainment to stay here.. The food was excellent & the staff were very helpful & friendly. We stayed in a premier room .. Which was very comfortable indeed.. Can't wait for the next show..then I will make sure I will make use of all the facilities they have on offer there..

« great service, friendly and fab food! »

we arrived to an 'up-grade' to a suite which was a lovely surprise. the staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. we both had a very good treatment in the Spa - the staff there were so nice too. Drinks in the bar with great service by lovely cheerful staff - and a superb dinner in the Oak Room. the bed was super-comfy (room 133) and the breakfast was hot, tasty and again served by brilliant, friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. And you are right - the local honey is gorgeous! we will recommend.

« Dated and over priced »

The outside is deceiving, looks amazing but for the price you pay for the rooms it lets you down. This place needs updating or a big reduction in price. Would not advise if looking for luxury. Place is not that good unless you drive.

« Woeful afternoon cream tea »

Having recently undergone surgery my wife decided to treat us both to an afternoon cream tea for 2 at Moor Hall. Such a pity that our experience was so poor. The room we were served our cream tea in was really nice with a lovely ambiance and view over the golf course, such a pity that what we eventually served was not up to a similar standard. I I chose coffee as opposed to tea, (not being a tea drinker) and as soon as I poured same it was very apparent that the coffee was very very strong, on tasting it there was no doubt that it was not drinkable, I drink and enjoy good quality black coffee but this was not good and even stronger than the strongest espresso, I had to ask for hot water in order to dilute this awful liquid. I would be amazed whether anyone could have easily drunk this coffee and enjoyed it. The waiter took away my coffee to add hot water and reduce the strength of it. Even so, it was not good and got our afternoon tea off to a poor start. We were then delivered our 'food' on a 3 tiered stand and it was apparent that the handle was 'sticky'. The sandwiches were of a poor quality. My wife had ordered vegetarian and hers came on a separate plate. The bread was dry and in our view not as fresh as we would have expected, however, what did disappoint was the total lack of filling. I had two of my small pieces of sandwich where I couldn't tell what the filling was, such was the lack of filling and poor standard. I am convinced that whoever prepared our sandwiches would not have been happy themselves had they been paying for this fare. Why such a lack of filling in the sandwich? I now turn to the cakes. We had 2 scones but clotted cream for the equivalent of 1, such was the lack of cream I ended up having one half of my scone with just jam. We then had 2 small donuts that were the type purchased from any supermarket for the kids, they were tasteless and dry. Without dragging out my disdain at what we were served, the remaining cakes were not what you would expect. Where was the homemade Victoria sponge or similar cake? My wife paid for this 'treat' and I feel awful complaining, however, I feel so annoyed that she had spent her hard earned money on what was very poor and expensive fare. Come on Moor Hall, you should be better than this.

    « Lovely relaxing weekend. »

Myself and my mum had a weekend at Moor hall for a bit of R&R. She booked on a bed, breakfast and 3 course dinner offer and all were fab. After getting a little lost looking for our room we eventually found the lift. Our room was lovely! Very spacious twin beds and a hamper on arrival which I thought was a nice touch. We had a very pleasant nights sleep even with there being a big party down stairs. No noise at all! The food was fab and a great choice, something for everyone. We had pre booked into the spa for the hot stones treatment and my i'm glad we did. Hands down the most relaxing spa treatment there is! The girls in the spa were lovely too. Over all there's a great feel around this hotel and I would definitely stay again and recommend.

    « well worth a stay »

We stay in room 76 which is a good size and well equipped. It has all the luxuries you would expect from a best Western Premier. The bed was very comfortable, the tea and coffee facilities where very good with a 2 person cafetiere, And also the touch a couple of apples is appreciated. The only negatives were The bathroom floor could get extremely slippery when wet, and that we found it very difficult to control the heating. This definitely wouldn't put sustaining this location again. I have to say the staff are very helpful and very attentive.

    « Friends suprise 30th spa stay »

I booked this hotel spa stay through wowcher for my friends 30th birthday. Four of us stayed over night in 2 double rooms. Tones and slippers were provided. We was not disappointed, the service and stay was lovely. We had a small hamper on arrival delivered to our rooms, rooms were clean and spacious. We paid additional for our treatments but evening meal & breakfast was included with great choice. Restaurant staff was courteous & polite. Will definitely be returning here and have recommended to friends and family ??

    « Disappointed »

Ladies at front desk were very helpful. The room I stayed in was a good size but the decor felt very outdated (same applies throughout the hotel). Main things I was disappointed in was the wifi speed. I could hardly load a page on my laptop let alone watch any videos. And the main reason I was disappointed with this hotel was the service I received at the bar. I asked for a chicken salad and it took 46 minutes to arrive. How does a chicken salad take that long. When I asked the staff about it they replied "I don't know, I wasn't here when you ordered it"

« Wedding at Moor Hall »

We were very fortunate to hold our wedding at Moor Hall on Valentine's Day. We could not have wished for a better day. Everything went perfectly. All of our family and friends have commented positively on the food, the service and the hotel staff. We would like to thank Jamie for his organisation and care throughout the day. He was brilliant. We've just returned from our honeymoon and reflecting back on the big day, it could not have been any better. Thank you to all of the members of staff that made our big day, exceptional. Thank you D & J x

    « Beauty treatment »

I visited Moor Hall for a full body Swedish massage which was purchased as a valentines gift. My massage was lovely and the therapist was helpful and advised treatments to try. The only thing I would comment on is during the treatment I could hear members of the public talking and although the therapy rooms are decorated nice they a light colours whereas a deep purple/red would feel more spa like. Maybe have some relaxing music on in the area where you wait for your treatment.

    « Comfortable, well-appointed hotel. »

Pro: Based in an impressive hall in extensive grounds, surrounded by a golf course and including a spa with excellent pool. Friendly service, comfortable lounges, spotless bedroom with outsize bed. first-class full English breakfast. Con: No lift, most bedrooms up one or two long flights of stairs: nobody mentioned this or asked about disabled access when we booked by phone. Nor did the reception staff warn us when we arrived (early afternoon) that both restaurants were fully booked for the night, which left us eating in the bar which offered a fairly basic range of meals. Cold keg beer only.

« Night without the children »

I took my husband to Moorhall having been there on a girls weekend. On the whole we had a lovely stay. However there were some minor issues during the stay which were addressed immediately by the staff, to our satisfaction. I would definitely stay there again

    4
    « Lovely stay »

Me & my friends had a lovely stay and enjoyed an hour or so in the spa. Check in was quick and the rooms were clean. We made a reservation in the Country Kitchen for 9pm which may have been a bit late. The staff were tidying around us and preparing tables for breakfast the next morning which made us feel rushed. The next morning at 10.10am we had a knock on the door from two ladies in black and pink tracksuits claiming to be house keeping. This seemed strange as they had a small bucket and a few cleaning supplies and were dressed in adidas tracksuits for work. I asked if we had to be out of the rooms by 11 and they had no idea. Overall it was a relaxing night away and would go again.

    « Spa day.... »

Myself and my Mum booked a Spa day here for mum's birthday treat. When we arrived we were told that we couldn't book any treatments as they were fully booked that day. It would have been nice to have been informed that we needed to pre-book these! Lunch was ok, the food was so so. The room where spa guests are taken to eat is dire. It seems spa guests are kept out of the way! We used the pool area, jacuzzi and the steam room during the morning, which was lovely but after lunch there was no where to sit, and the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi were constantly full so we had no choice but to stay in the pool as there was so many people in the pool area! With 4 hours of our day still remaining and not being able to have treatments, this was not what we wanted, so we left early! The changing rooms are too small and the showers smelt like urine! A disappointing day overall! Will go elsewhere in future!

    « Excellent »

Went for afternoon tea for a baby shower. The private room was grand and we all loved the afternoon tea. Very efficient service without being intrusive. The only thing would have been to show us the way to the private room as it was a bit tricky to find.

« Disappointed, what a dump. Cold and dirty. »

Welcomed by a cold room, with a net curtain hanging off and a wide open window. Turning the radiator on sounded like a pool flume with a massive drop. Someone has sprayed the toilet door, and no one has cleaned it off, possibly ever? Someone needs to employ a French Polisher, or maybe just chuck this stuff in the bin. When they are at it they could replace the 30 year old wall paper, and maybe rehang the non straight TV on the wall. Just this time don't put it in front of a picture.... Well thought about. Holes in the wall, trim missing and a telephone from the early 90s, not to mention the nice beds that are so soft I think I will roll of them all night. Oh and look at the lovely ironing board cover, going to have fun trying to use that. This is a joke. Someone come and straighten the lampshades yo and give them a dust. Two days here, not looking forward to it. Please come and give me a refund so I can stay in an I is somewhere.

    « A Freindly well run Hotel »

Having stayed at this hotel for over 3 weeks i can honestly say that the service, food and the amenities are of a consistent high level. The location near to Birmingham is ideal for buisness and pleasure but far enough out of the city for a quiet relaxing break.

    « Another fantastic stay »

Visited for a 2 night stay incorporating Burns Night event. Stayed in a Superior room which was fantastic, very spacious. The Burns nights was briliant. Good atmosphere and lots of laughs. We ate in the bar on the Thursday eening which was lovely. We also had afternoon tea which was very good. Drinks are a good price and the staff are very friendly. We used the room service which was quick. The drimks arrived before the food and the food arrived hot within the time we were told. its a beautiful place, looking out of the golf course with a nice pool and a spa. The Oak room restaurant is delightful. The Country Kitchen restaurant is a cavery style which I don't like personally but the food smelt great. Breakfast was excellent, choice of eggs - I recommend the poached... large choice of hot items and choice of continental too. We have stayed several time and will definately return in the future. Their special events/tribute nights are great.

« Hen party spa day »

We recently visited here for a spa day for my hen and it was lovely. The facilities were clean and nice. The staff were lovely and looked after us really well (especially the bar lady Connie, she went out of her way for us all, such a lovely lady). The food was good and we got our own room to eat in. The only negative I have but its nothing on the hotel is that some of the members that go can be quite rude as it seems they don't like parties going to the spa from comments they made whilst we were there. But overall I would recommend this hotel and think I'll be bringing my partner to stay a night as it was lovely. Thank you moor hall :)

    « Spa Day »

Great day fantastic service especially from the waitress Connie. It was my daughters Hen Party day and we had a lovely day. The meals were out of this world and they catered for my daughter who can only eat gluten free food. We had a truly wonderful day and relaxed by the pool and in the afternoon by the fire. The treatments we had were truly relaxing and we each experienced a different treatment such as manicures, back massages and hand massages. Thank you to all the staff and especially to Connie who went out of her way to make the day truly special

« Some good bits, a few not so good »

Overall this was a nice hotel to take my mum to on a spa break. The hotel is full of character with amazing wood panelling and stained glass. The room was clean, with comfy beds and tea and coffee making facilities. The spa facilities were nice, with very relaxing treatments. The staff are very helpful with a good level of service. Dinner in the oak room was good quality food with plenty of ambience. As part of the deal we were on, we had a voucher for pre-dinner prosecco and canapés and these were excellent and a lovely bonus. On the negative side; we were surprised at the lack of complimentary toiletries in the bath room. There are several hidden extras food wise; it states that dinner is included in the room rate, but when you get to dinner, the menu states you are entitled to £28 spend. The mains especially in the menu were quite highly priced and for £28, depending on your choices, you may not even stretch to two courses. At breakfast, items on the menu were at a supplementary cost compared with the self-service breakfast, and whilst I was looking forward to eggs benedict I wasn't going to pay £13.95 plus £2.50 surcharge for it. Lastly, the treatments we had booked in the spa were more expensive than when I booked them a month ago, due to a price rise. However, the spa did not tell me this until the treatments were over and could not honour the original price. I have since emailed the spa manager, but have as yet received no reply (3 days on).

    « Spa Weekend Treat »

"A very brief but luxurious stay, we stayed at the Moor Hall Hotel and Spa for 1 night. Located on a pedestrian or walking street along the old town square in Sutton Coldfield. The hotel is an old building but well renovated into a 5-star hotel; it's a beautiful family run hotel with open fires and beautiful internal and external surroundings. The quality overall was excellent, and everything was clean and spotless. The bed linens were an absolute delight. Pure comfort and there was plenty of room to spread out the luggage and put clothes away. The stay was superb. On arrival our room was ready, a very luxurious, clean and impressive family room, consisting of 2 double beds. Our evening meal and breakfast was included within our price which was catered for according to our dietary requirements (halal meat). All the meals were absolutely delicious, including the carvery which was also a very good value for price. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of hot and cold offerings, fresh fruits and juices, full English breakfast veg and non-veg and many more. We requested for a late check-out, it was approved. The reception personnel were very helpful, friendly and eager to please as well as all other staff including the night porters. The Spa staff were extremely accommodating and helpful even at short notice. A very relaxing 50 minute massage which was also included within the price. All staff were very helpful and extremely accommodating. Nagena, Alyia and Farah Going back in the summer can't wait"

    « Return Visit »

A second stay at Moor Hall. Last visit was September 2015 for our son's wedding. This time for a family reunion. It felt good to be back especially after a long journey from the North of England. We arrived very late in the evening but were welcomed by late night staff and a warming fire in reception. The bar was empty but again the staff on duty were welcoming and pleasant. Our room was not as good as during our last stay... large and comfortable but the bathroom needed some TLC! However I do enjoy staying at Moor Hall and as it was only for one night managed the bathroom. For information it needed taps to be replaced as they were not the correct size for the basin and water came over the side continuously, The lighting was poor and the magnifying mirror on the wall not in very good condition. All simple things which if replaced could make such a difference to the comfort of the room. Without doubt the heroes of Moor Hall are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and they are consistently pleasant, courteous and greet visitors with smiles. As it was Saturday the main dining room was not open for breakfast which was a pity as eating in there is a much more pleasant experience than the alternative dining room. Unfortunately it was overcrowded and claustrophobic. However the chef prepared alternative eggs without hesitation. It was difficult for the staff as the dining area was very full and queuing at the breakfast bar was unpleasant. We booked the "Oak Room" for a family party. It was a great success. The food was delightfully presented and overall very good. The staff on duty in the Oak Room were wonderful, particularly the maitre d'. Constantly making sure that all was well. Must also mention the lady on duty in the bar... excellent. Moor Hall once again made sure that our visit for a family reunion was a good one.

« Well run, good value »

Impressed with Moor Hall on a one night stay with family between Christmas and New Year. We were on a very good deal but the staff went out of their way every time in terms of service and are clearly very well managed. Hotel is attractive and well presented. It's close to major roads in West Midlands (Tamworth snowdome, Drayton Manor, Belfry etc) but quiet.

    « Beautiful hotel! »

We visited this hotel as we had saved up Tesco clubcard points and decided to treat ourselves to a weekend away, with the discount using our points. Well, what a lovely place! Lovely, spotless room, nice staff, fantastic swimming pool with cosy chairs, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Pretty grounds to have a walk round too. Breakfast was delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. For dinner we visited a toby carvery and a pizza express, both only 10 minutes away. We'd love to return next year when we've saved more clubcard points for another discount. Highly recommend!!

« Lovely Hotel in a Great Location »

We stopped at Moor Hall to celebrate my wife's big birthday. We had a spa day on the Friday which included dinner in the Oak Room and breakfast. Then a meal for all the family (24 in total), on the Saturday in the Country Kitchen. On the Sunday we had dinner in the Country Kitchen and a 6.00pm late check out so we could use the spa facilities again. Moor Hall is a lovely hotel with many nice features. Ideal for couples and families. The Oak Room is splendid and the food excellent. The Country Kitchen is more of a carvery but still good value. The staff were friendly and the service was good. All our demands were catered for were possible, which included changing the layout of the tables several times in the Country Kitchen shortly before our family arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. I got the impression that the staff were used to arranging things and helping people plan their evenings. This helped alot. It was clear that the hotel was aware that it was my wife's birthday as they added nice little touches such as an upgrade to a feature room (highly recommended). They even remembered a birthday card and some goodies. A small but nice touch as so many hotels don't bother. Food was excellent in the Oak Room and Country Kitchen. Everywhere was clean and the staff were polite and helpful. Some small points that didn't ruin our stay but could have been a little better - When we first attended the spa we weren't shown around, just pointed towards the stairs leading up to the pool and gym. We've never been before so would have liked a tour. Also it was a bit of a tussle keeping track of spending as the deposit for the meals I paid for weeks ago weren't taken off the bill, the late check out was £60.00 but it had been added on twice. Also it should have included dinner in the Country Kitchen but this was also charged for. But once this was pointed out it was all corrected without any hassle. It's the same with any hotel I guess, there are multiple bits of the business charging various items and you just need to keep an eye on it all so any mistakes can be corrected. As a wedding photographer in a past life, I'd also recommend this hotel for weddings as the interior and grounds are superb. A little hidden gem just over the road is Mitchells Shopping. It's a collection of art and craft shops. Just turn left out of the front gate and you'll see it sign posted on the right. I love Moor Hall. So much so that I've applied for a Best Western card to gain points as I know we'll visit many more times this year. In the Summer the gardens are wonderful and in the Winter you can always find a cosy corner for a coffee and a book read.

« Disaster stay, so disappointed »

Contrary to the majority of reviews on here, we didn't enjoy our stay and won't be returning. My partner booked this for my birthday - an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast on a Saturday night. It had the potential to be amazing as the grounds and spa are lovely. Unfortunately it ended in a swift departure and tears! The room was spacious and clean with a good size bathroom. No complaints there! But everywhere needs some tlc...a light bulb required changing in the bathroom, wonky lampshades..this was reflected throughout the hotel. Things that are so easily rectified. We used the spa including the jacuzzi and steam room. Rather lovely and indeed relaxing. The problems began to arise around dinner. We had a 3-course carvery dinner booked for 7pm. On arrival, the table was covered in crumbs despite us being the first guests in there. The food was unappealing and we endured a 20 minute wait for the greens (undercooked when they did eventually come) so we couldn't have our main course until they had arrived. Admittedly we were offered complimentary drinks for the long wait, but it was pretty awful considering they knew guests were booked in from 7pm. It should have been no surprise! The actual food was ok but pretty uninspiring. Desserts were manufactured. It felt like a canteen meal. Service wasn't much better either. Lots of tables being moved around, conversations shouted across the room and general rudeness ensued. The restaurant manager seemed to have an odd manner with me which upset my partner. We had a terrible nights sleep as there was a party taking place in the main dining room. The room next door was also incredible noisy, both up late and awake early. I think we had 3 hours sleep at most. My partner had to complain at reception to ask them to do something about it. Breakfast was ok but we were forgotten about after attempting to order poached eggs. The waitress apologised but by then we had had enough. A £50 retainer or whatever you want to call it was taken from my partners card , apparently for drinks we might have charged to the room. Protocol as with most hotels, but instead of only holding this fee, it won't be returned for 5-7 days! Madness! We have been offered 25% refund pending management discretion following our complaint about all of this, but we await the outcome. Just a bad stay with terrible customer service and food. Hardly a birthday of dreams. I'm gutted for my partner as he really wanted to make my birthday special :-(

    « Perfect stay »

Recently visited moor hall hotel and spa for a days relax with my partner before starting back at university. Originally we found moor hall on wowcher, but as the hotel could not carry out this deal on a Tuesday our room was upgraded to make up for this. We were very satisfied not only due to the quality of the room, but also with the spa facilities, the sunken garden which we visited on our last day, and the food served in the evening and for breakfast (We chose to have the English favorites platter to share which we would highly recommend). Our stay would definitely have made 5/5 if it hadn't have been for a lack of smiles from staff and a few cleanliness problems including a dirty spoon and a spillage in our fridge, however we would love to stay again.

    « Apalling Customer Service »

Booked a Spa trip for 16.01.2015 as a birthday present for a friend for 5 people. We were given times of treatments and were all really excited to visit. We picked the hotel as it was central for everyone to travel to from all over the UK had excellent trip advisor reviews and the spa deal was amazing value with 28 pound going towards dinner in the oak room restaurant. We have all made travel arrangements and the birthday girls partner had put money behind the bar for us all to enjoy. We have today received and email stating that they can no longer accommodate our treatments. I could understand maybe 1 or 2 mix ups but 5 separate peoples treatments? It is apparent that they have received an offer from another group who will pay them more money, however given their inadequate response I assume we will never know. I would like to confirm that the booking was made yesterday after several phonecalls checking availability so I therefore cannot fathom what has changed in 24 hours. We now cannot get another spa in Birmingham for next weekend as there are 5 people and that is an awkward number for any hotel to accommodate and it isn't exactly much notice. Not only that even if we wanted to we couldn't book anywhere else as our money is tied up with this booking. Quick enough to take our money but seem to have issues with quickly refunding despite their mix up. We are still yet to receive an apology. Not only can we no longer go but we are all down on the money spent for travel arrangements. BOOK THE SPA WITH CAUTION!!! YOU COULD WELL FIND YOURSELF DISAPPOINTED AND DOWN ON CASH!

« In reality probably a three, but deserving of a four as the staff and bar area are great »

A last minute meeting necessitated me booking a hotel in Sutton Coldfield area. I paid £75 for a single, one night excluding breakfast. I was a little unsure as to whether or not it would be worth the money or not. I still am. I walked the 1.5 miles from Sutton Coldfield station. As the hotel is down a fairly dark country road, it would've been a big help to have had lit signage on the road, so as to help me see where the hotel was. As it was, I missed it and walked straight past. Check-in was quick and everything was explained courteously. I was given room 124 which was a small single. The room was warm and clean, as was the ensuite. The shower could do with some attention but other than that, all okay. I was pretty confident that at £75, I was not getting value for money. Had it been a double, £75 was probably spot on. The downstairs bar area is lovely. The ambience coupled with the service made me reconsider my evaluation of the £75. Perhaps I was being too mean. I ordered a baguette sandwich, which for the cost £6.75 was great value. At this point, I thought yup £75 probably just scrapes through as a fair price. The shower in the morning was quite entertaining as the head needs replacing and water was firing in every direction other than downwards :) Easily resolved and I'm sure a few £ will fix it. Having had a late night, I got a bit lost finding the way back to reception to check-out. Again, some more signage internally would be very helpful. I walked from the hotel to Four Oaks station - probably the wrong way - as it was again 1.5 miles. Nice to see well cared for grounds though. Pros - staff and bar area are really nice. Cons - still not sure £75 for a small single is good value Would I stay again, yup. Would I recommend it, yup. Just make sure the room rate is slightly better

« Best Western - Moor Hall Hotel & Spa »

A special place primarily because of the wonderful staff and the first class facilities. Thanks to all the people front of house and behind the scenes who made it possible. If you were to know us and the fact that we drove 130 miles to come back for a second visit within a couple of months says everything.

Just returned from our second visit this year and we weren't disappointed . 14 in our family ranging in age from 7 to 76 and we all had a fabulous time.Cant fault the staff for their excellent customer service...nothing is too much trouble. Special mentions to Pat, Duty Manager,Charlotte on reception, Dan in the bar and Georgia in the spa. The rooms are spacious and clean, food is plentiful and bars are so welcoming with real log fires. We look forward to another break away.

    « New Year's Eve Break »

Four of us recently visited Moor Hall Hotel for a two night break, including New Year's eve celebrations. We were travelling from Bedfordshire, so visited Warwick Castle en route, which was definitely worthwhile. Parking at the hotel was easy and we were soon greeted in the reception by a warm fire and helpful staff. We had decided to upgrade to a superior twin bedded room beforehand which was only a few pounds more, but well worth it. We had two double beds, seating area with comfy settee and large bathroom with shower and separate bath. All the food during our stay was excellent, as was the service we received - nothing was too much trouble. Our stay included the New Year's eve buffet and disco, which was well worth the money and great fun.

« New Year party package »

Booked Moor Hall for their New Years Eve Buffet Disvo package. Left it late to book do was limited with the accommodation that was left, so ended up having to book a jacuzzi bath room. I was fairly worried that at almost £400 for the package for me and my wife was a little on the expensive side, so to say I was a little apprehensive about the quality would be an understatement. However, I needn't have worried as from start to finish the whole thing was great. Fantastic room with a huge jacuzzi bath and a walk in shower to boot, lovely big bed and the room was even stocked with luxury robes to relax in. Also little touches like being given a welcome basket with orange juice, fruit and chocolate in made it even better. The night itself was fantastic and the food for the buffet, the disco and everything involved was great. Staff were very polite, helpful and seemingly happy to help in any way possible. All in all it was a faultless stay...topped off with a superb breakfast in the morning. I'd definitely recommend Moor Hall and in fact we're already looking to come back for a spa weekend on the strength of our stay. Thoroughly recommended. Thanks to all the staff for making New Year's Eve 2015 memorable.

    « Carvery - give it a miss »

We went for a carvery. Very disappointing food. There was a starter selection which looked as if it had been out for days and was very poor and very little choice. The carvery did not have beef on as it was not cooked and the fish was a curled up piece which had been sitting or hours. The desserts were a few pieces of cheesecake and 2 peices of coffee cake. No fruit and no cheese. All very disapointing and we would not return. For £16.95 the local Toby is better value. Maybe they had run out of food after Christmas???

« BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT CARVERY »

Sunday 6th December 2015, I booked the Country Kitchen Carvery for a family meal to celebrate my 60th birthday and was delighted with the way it all went. The Menu was excellent and catered for all food tastes ? from Great Grandchildren to Grandparents. Can't thank the staff enough for making the day so special, for being so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble ? even when I changed the seating plan at the last minute! The festive setting also added to the ambiance and the whole family thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

    « brief overnighter »

We stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting friends nearby & booked a couple of rooms as older & younger kids with us. The drive up to the hotel & surrounding area is lovely. Very friendly & efficient check in. Our family room was very generous - being 2 rooms with a connecting door in fact, with a separate twin for the older kids. Breakfast was a fine assortment & well presented - all fresh & plentiful. We were impressed by the amount of Christmas decorations all around the hotel - which is fairly large also. Our stay was brief as we were out with friends for the evening & no chance to try the restaurant & use any of the facilities - but all looked promising. For the price we paid the hotel has a luxury feel compared to other more "generic" hotels we have used. I also dropped my wallet in a corridor & was called the next morning by a guest who found & returned it - if they are reading this then many thanks again & perhaps the hotel attracts such an honourable class of guests.

« Very good hotel and restaurant »

We are lucky to have a choice of a number of family owned and managed businesses to choose from in this area. Moor Hall, Fairlawns, Swinfen and Lea Marston all offer excellent facilities and a level of service that are rarely matched by corporate hotels outside of London. Well done to all concerned.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights over the Christmas period. From the minute we walked in the door it was impressive. The welcoming reception area with a roaring open fire was immediately inviting. The rooms were beautifully presented. All staff were very friendly throughout the whole stay. Breakfast every morning was delicious. Even had room service one evening which again was superb. Definitely recommend this hotel.

A small party of four but many larger groups. Pleasant area to meet outside the Charter Suite. Fab decorations throughout. Food was excellent. The maitre 'D and his staff were super efficient. We were not kept waiting and food was hot. Each table had crackers balloons and party poppers. We pre ordered a wine package which was at the table when we arrived. A good price also. Table promptly cleared after coffee ready for the disco. A very good dj who had everyone dancing throughout the night . We couldn't find any fault with the organisation of the party. A brilliant night.

    « Wedding reception Nov 2015 »

I write to express my great satisfaction to everyone at Moor Hall who contributed to the wedding celebrations of my daughter and son-in-law on Saturday 28 November. The professionalism with which the event was arranged, organised and carried out was second to none and the courtesy extended by all staff was exemplary. From our first contact with Sally, I felt that our arrangements were in safe hands, her organisation and clarity of communication without question. To the food tasting event, which was a great pleasure. Our thoughts and comments were discussed and clearly noted. And the event itself. The meals were professionally presented, well timed, courses quickly served and cleared, of extremely high quality and consistency and extremely tasty. A few guests with last minute dislikes were catered for instantly. Jamie, a true professional without doubt, showed a keen awareness of all aspects of the event and was in constant touch with members of the party. He knew exactly what he was doing. The candlelit Charter Suite looked stunning, richly decorated, the background room and table lighting at just the right level. Everything seemed fine. I could fault nothing. I could go on. There is much I noted with pleasure during the day. But here I have a problem. I have mentioned a few people only. I noted many Moor Hall staff contributing on the day. Everything I witnessed pleased me. I met a number of staff but many I did not have the pleasure to meet. I want to thank them all.

    « Spa Day Package »

Went to Moor Hall for a day Spa package last week. I have been here a few times, only to the spa days you get all day starting in the morning they offer you Tea or coffee with toast or a biscuit, light lunch as much as Tea Coffee and water as you like during the day, use of the gym swimming Pool sauna 20 minutes facial afternoon short cake with Tea Or Coffee before you leave. I don't think much of the dinning area where you sit you to have your lunch could put quests in the nice dinning area where they put you to have breakfast when you get there! The sandwich's I had were awful stale bread I hate stale bread it as to be fresh for me I had some curly Chips they were very salty not good i like my salt but not that much. last time I went there they gave you a desert not this time it must be one of their cut backs. not sure I will return.

    « Terrible room »

I booked this Hotel because of someone's recommendation but we had very unfortunate experience.booked through Secret Escape. We were given Room 15 and as soon as we opened the room my heart sank because it is half the size of our bedroom and very dark with a small window looking into hedges few yard away. I use a breathing apparatus for sleep and there was no power point near the bed. I complained about the room but instead of changing the room they provided me with a long extension lead for my apparatus. So it was far from a luxurious break as advertised by Secret Excape. Some of the menu in the Oak Room is not up to the standard of a four star hotel although the room is beautiful and staff very friendly. The Leisure Center is very nice and it was some consolation. I have now learnt to enquire about the room before I use ?Secret Escape again.so that the luxery escape form your home does not turn out to be this experience again.

« Rooms and breakfast great »

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend for my partner's birthday. The room was clean , warm and comfortable. Staff at reception were friendly and efficient. Went to the lounge bar for something eat as the restaurant was full ,we ordered fish and chips which took about half hour to turn up .The food was disgusting fish was dry and batter had too much bicarbonate the chips, as the waiter described as hand cut chips was black and soggy , will never be having that again . For day two 29/11/2015 we went for breakfast staff was great food was hot and fresh . Lady at reception at the sauna was great . For dinner I had reserved a table for my partner's birthday, when we got there , there was no one greeting . Then a young lady called Jess turned up and ask if we had a table reserved. I ask her whats on the menu for the evening which she was not sure as she told us the fish was salmon but when we went to the carvery it was sea bass .The food on the carvery was cold , pork and beef was displayed in the same container , this is not acceptable. Yorkshire pudding was hard and cold ,was not impressed at all as it was a birthday celebration. Staff were more keen to stand in the small room by the greeting area and have a laugh than pay attention to diners Over all I would stay at the hotel again but would not eat from the carvery or the lounge bar as it was a let down .Would love to give this place a five but was let down by the standard of the food

    « Amazing Night Away »

We stayed at Moor Hall on a celebration package which include dinner, bed and breakfast with half a bottle of champagne and chocolates on arrival. We arrived and were checked in by 2 very welcoming and friendly receptionists. The room was stunning and had a 4 poster bed which was very comfy. We then went and used the Gym and swimming pool which was great. The gym had everything we needed for a good workout including TV's on the equipment, the swimming pool, sauna and steam room were all very clean. We were lucky enough to have the space to ourselves. We then dinned in the Oak Room which is a stunning room, The staff were all highly trained and were very friendly and attentive. They offered water and more bread which I enjoyed :) The food was delicious, myself and my partner were making yummy noises with every mouthful. Breakfast was equally as good and the staff in the breakfast room were so kind. I cant wait to go back to the hotel for our next break away.

    « Excellent »

Stayed here in early November as a weekend break to celebrate a birthday. Arrived about 2 o'clock to check in and the reception staff were very helpful. The room was spacious, and comfortable. The hotel was large, but not impersonal. We enquired about the spa and were told we could use it whenever we wanted - so first thing after unpacking was to visit the pool This was reasonable size and had steam room and sauna so suited me fine. We ate out that evening but breakfast next morning was superb with the staff doing everything to make us feel comfortable and at home. We ate in the main restaurant one evening and this was indeed fine dining. The wait for the food was a little long and may have made one or two guests uncomfortable, but when the food arrived it was indeed worth waiting for. A tour of the grounds is well worth while and we took some great pictures whilst out. In all this is one of the better Best Westerns that we have stayed at and if you are in the area and looking for a place to stay this one is highly recommended.

Stopped at the Moor Hall hotel for a "George Michael" tribute and meal with an overnight stay, the hotel was lovely although a little tricky to find, the staff were very welcoming and polite, the room was quite good with everything we required for our stay, the drinks were quite expensive but a fair choice, the meal was quite good. The show was enjoyable but only lasted for one hour so was again quite expensive although the disco was on before and after the main act. The breakfast was reasonable although even after three attempts we couldn't get "hot" toast.

2 weeks after getting married in Hong Kong my wife and I had a second wedding service for family & friends in England, with reception at Moor Hall. We did a lot of the arrangements with Sally via email, she and her team provided a fantastic reception for us, delicious 4-course meal, all our guests enjoyed their time at Moor Hall. Thanks also to Karl and catering team for looking after us on the day. Hotel was nice, we stayed overnight in nice room with 4-poster bed, pool a bit on the small side, breakfast had many options so we thoroughly enjoyed that! Grounds are beautiful, we were fortunate to be blessed by rare sunshine & blue skies which certainly helped bring out the beauty of hotel grounds,

    « Very disappointing.. »

Booked the Girls Night In as a surprise for my granddaughter's birthdays. Their room was lovely and birthday cards had been provided. One member of our group had to wait nearly 3/4 hour for their room to be ready. My room had dirty curtains, the side of the bath was hanging off and only one bathrobe had been provided for 2 people. As use of the Spa was a major part of this stay the bathrobe, which we had been told would be provided was important. I requested a robe within 10 minutes of arrival and was told it would be provided, 10minutes later we had a visit from housekeeping to check the room was okay and I asked them too and they also promised one. An hour later I decided to visit the Spa without one. On return to the room later, still no robe. I reported it again to reception after our evening meal, they were astounded that it had not been dealt with. One of the 'highlights' of the stay was a private sitting room to watch CD's and chill out with popcorn etc. Everyone changed into pyjamas etc, I couldn't as I had no robe. When we checked out the following morning I still had not received one. I filled in a comment form and was eventually contacted by email and received a very unsatisfactory apology. Not the experience I had been hoping for and I definitely would not visit again. Attention to detail is so important and was sadly lacking here.

« Excellent Staff and Facilities »

We held an evening business event at this hotel and were bowled over by how helpful the staff were in some of the trickier moments of the preparation. Rooms were well presented, spa is lovely and the evening meal and breakfast were a delight. We will stay again.

« oak room restaurant is excellent »

We ate here late October, mid week, the hotel was really busy, but staff were very attentive. I was impressed with the menu and the room is very romantic. as we were a couple, they put us in a quiet corner which was excellent. I had the lamb, which was excellemt only critism, was the chips were far too large to eat

« Lovely setting with lovely people! »

Excellent venue-I went there for a MotorSport awards ceremony and the food, drink, service and hotel were excellent thanks! The staff friendliness and keen help-because we had a few queries for the ceremony on the day-were all were swiftly concluded. I can fully refer this to anyone who wants a venue for business, leisure and oh the breakfast will set you up too...

« A lovely evening at Moor Hall »

I visited Moor Hall for the first time yesterday to have a meal and a drink with a friend who was staying there and was not disappointed. A beautiful rambling old property with a very welcoming feel. The staff were very attentive and the bar area very relaxing. I had a bar snack of a burger and chunky chips - very good quality served in a brioche bun - excellent. Many thanks too to the member of staff who organised a taxi home. A lovely place to stay.

We returned to Moor Hall last weekend after a 5 year absence. We held our wedding reception there and booked a weekend stay to celebrate our silver anniversary. It was wonderful to find that the sense of 5* luxury had not altered in 25 years. Our room was superb, the décor smart and comfortable, the standard of service throughout the weekend was exemplary and we would not hesitate to recommend this as a venue or just a place for a luxury weekend stay.

    « Very nice »

Just spent one night here. Hotel is good value, good order and very helpful staff. Best breakfast in ages - including free range eggs. I got a room upgrade and my room was massive. Chocolates in the room were a nice touch. Later in the week I stayed in the nearby Ramada...if you get the option go for the Best Western

« Can't speak highly enough of Moor Hall! »

Moor hall exceeded all expectations in every aspect. The staff are friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay special. Our room was completely spotless and the extra touches were much appreciated. They included apples, chocolates, bottled water, cans of orange and a morning newspaper. We enjoyed a delicious room service meal during the evening while our children slept soundly in the comfortable beds. Our meals were splendid we are very much looking forward to dining in the Oak room in the near future for our wedding anniversary in December. At breakfast they had a very good selection of food and the staff were very attentive. The cooked breakfast was delicious and served from 6.30am. The leisure facilities are well equipped and also spotlessly clean. The spa treatments, a facial and pedicure were both very good and a nice way to relax. We throughly enjoyed our stay it's a beautiful hotel with stunning grounds, we enjoyed Autumn walks and there's lots of history to uncover, our children were particularly intrigued by the time capsule within the hotel grounds. We have already recommended to family and friends and can't wait to visit again. Moor hall is now a firm family favourite of ours!

« Lovely place to stay, each time we visit family »

outstanding service, lovely rooms and grounds. We arrived from Canada, at about 11:00 am. We really wanted to shower, before heading out for a meal for our Aunt's birthday, and certainly didn't expect our room to be ready. Nothing is too much trouble for Moor Hall. They gave us passes to use the spa, so we could shower and change. They kept our luggage in the office. When we arrived back, our luggage was already waiting in our room for us. Each day at breakfast, we had superb service, even finding my sister peanut butter the first day, and having a wee dish of it ready for the following days of our visit. Our cousins and family came for a celebration lunch on our last day, and everyone was very impressed with the service and quality of food. The young ones had a wonderful time in the grounds exploring with their parents and uncles. You just can't fault this establishment. I always stay here when I visit, and will continue to do so.

« Spa Day was bliss »

I booked a half day spa for my wife's birthday. It was really good value at about £49 with (hot) drinks thrown in & a cream tea (including sandwiches etc). A 25 minute treatment for each of us was also included in the price. The facilities were great - decent sized, warm pool along with sauna and steam room. Also, a gym, though we can't vouch for that as we wanted a lazy day. The general decor and ambience was also good and the staff were first rate...very polite and obliging. A special mention to KATIE on reception and a young lady or slightly Oriental appearance who did my back massage....sorry I didn't catch your name!). In fact, all of the staff were a credit to Best Western; top marks. The hotel has nice period features and has a golf course on site; it's very agreeable, scenery wise. We've had several spa breaks and this rates very highly overall. Hope to go back!

    « MAGICAL WEDDING DAY!! »

We recently held our wedding day at Moor Hall and we really cannot rate this venue highly enough. Every member of staff from the general manager, Sam, to the lovely waiting staff, were so helpful and pleasant. Our wedding planner, Sally was very helpful, answering my many questions before the big day! We had the personal service of Jamie (banqueting manager) throughout our day and he was there to assist with everything, whatever we needed, he was there. The food was just perfect and many of our guests commented on how good it was. The whole day was a dream come true, followed by the perfect party night! Several guests said that it was the best wedding they had ever been to... Thank you so much to all staff at Moor Hall for helping to make it such a great success! Wish we could do it all again! The exterior and the grounds are very picturesque and the interior décor is in keeping with the style of the building. The breakfast service was excellent both the helpful staff and the quality and selection of food available.

    « Overnight Stay »

We visited the Moor Hall hotel this weekend to meet up with my fellow Breast Cancer survivors. We stayed last year and returned due to the wonderful time we had. We were not disappointed again. All the staff at the Moor Hall are lovely especially Connie who looked after us really well. We had a lovely separate dining room, the food was wonderful and we will no doubt be back again next year. Thank you again xxxx

« Excellent location, food and service »

From the time we arrived until we left we had first class service. The room was very good and bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was up to date with a good shower. All the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts excellent with a wide choice to suit all tastes. We can especially recommend the Oak Room which we thought was a lovely room with great staff and last but least first class food and a good range of wines We enjoyed our first visit so much that we have already booked to go again.

    « A very disappointing Anniversary stay »

I booked a spa break through Secret Escapes for our anniversary , It included a superior room and a massage each so I was expecting a luxurious relaxing stay . This is not what we got. The drive up to the hotel was beautiful and the building itself looks stunning from the out side I was really looking forward to the stay. We checked in and went to our room we quickly put our clothes away and got our swimming costumes ready for the spa and massages, we had bathrobes in the room but no slippers so my partner went to get some from the housekeeping staff who were in the corridor . (we should have had slippers) I noticed in the bathroom that we only had 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel so I rang down to reception to ask for 1 more of each, we then went off for the massage and pools . We had our massages, used the hot tub, pool steam room and sauna, the pool area was not as large as I anticipated and there were not many loungers but it was a pleasant relaxing experience. We chose to shower back in our room as time was getting on and we had a meal booked in the Country kitchen restaurant . When it came to having a shower that is when it all went down hill some new towels had been sent (2 bath towels) 1 of which was badly stained with blood !!! ( obviously I didnt use it) We then found that the hair and shower gel in the shower was empty and the "luxury" toiletries they provided were 2 shampoos and a body moisturiser that had been used and was empty!!! upon looking more closely I could see that the bathroom floor was quite dirty and had long black hairs on it !!! I was now thinking the room maybe had not been serviced correctly . Dressing quickly for dinner I stopped off at reception to show them the blood stained towel, empty body lotion and to tell them about the other issues and to ask for extra coffee, sugar and milk (empty sugar packets were also found on the coffee tray) The receptionist did apologise and asked if we wanted to change rooms I did decline this offer as we were about to go for dinner and all our clothes and possessions were organised in the room so I just asked for the issues in our current room to be rectified. I will say we had a lovely meal in the country Kitchen carvery restaurant and the staff polite and efficient , nearing the end of our meal the manager came to apologise for the issues we had raised and said that a complementary bottle of wine would be in the room for us. So I thought upon going back to the room all we be ok BUT NO upon going back to the room yes we had a bottle of wine but none of the other issues had been resolved!!! by now it was late and we were tired so went to bed. Breakfast had a good selection for the continental however the hot selection could have done with being warmer. The sun was shining so we a a bit of a stroll around the grounds this was lovely then we had a sit in the conservatory again lovely in the sun . Over all what should have been a relaxing, luxury ,anniversary break was not as relaxing and certainly not luxurious . I understand that in the hospitality industry it is busy and demanding and things do go wrong this is normal and happens in many places but what disappointed me the most is that nothing was done to rectify the issues we raised , at the time changing rooms did not seem necessary or a real option as it would have effected our evening enjoyment and would most certainly not have been relaxing , I honestly thought our current room would just have a few simple things correcting and the fact these were not is the issue. If things go wrong Im satisfied if they are quickly put right but on this occasion they were not . From now on I will make sure I thoroughly check rooms before I unpack , luxury cannot be guaranteed

« Wonderful Hotel with fantastic staff »

Just had two nights here and it was great. The hotel and grounds are lovely and the room had everything we needed and was nicely decorated and clean. Shower was especially good, hot and full. Breakfast had a good range of choice. We spent some time in the pool, steam room and jacussi. The pool isn't huge but it's fine for an afternoon swim and relax. The best thing was the staff, they are of all ages and you just feel looked after. On arrival we asked about Chinese or Indian restaurants - although they have a nice restaurant they didn't try to push us in there and produced a sheet with the addresses of different cuisine restaurants in the area. At breakfast Sue was a star, immediately understood us and got whatever we wanted. She had my husband weighed up and when he asked 'where he could get black coffee' told him with a straight face that it had been banned in that hotel since 2008 because it made people like him giddy. She also 'told off' two of our friends who spotted us through a door and came in the back way, for using the 'tradesmans entrance'. I know this all sounds a bit bad in writing, but it was actually showing her people skills as it made our morning. We loved this hotel, they genuinely seem to care and we couldn't fault it.

    « Granary Kitchen »

The staff at Moor Hall Hotel and leisure club are absolutely amazing!!!! Kind, friendly and very helpful....... Though the food in the granary kitchen was simply ....... 'Passable' thank goodness for the £8.95 off as I would not have been impressed paying the full price at all!!! The starters were acceptable but the main course was dried up, zero presentation and zero flavour.....

    « Couldn't have been any better!!! »

I visited Moor hall hotel in September as I was holding a surprise 50th golden wedding event for my mum & dad. On arrival I was impressed with the beautiful old building situated in the most gorgeous grounds. I was then greeted with a very warm welcome at reception. My stay went smoothly enjoying the gym pool & spa facilities , the evening meal and breakfast was of high quality food. My room was clean & comfortable and I was really looking forward to now sharing this with my mum & dad & the rest of the family. To say my mum & dad were blown away by their surprise is an understatement!!!!!!! I cannot thank Finola the events coordinator enough for ensuring the afternoon tea we'd arranged was everything we could have hoped for....... Any dietary requirements were taken into consideration so that everyone could enjoy the plentiful sandwiches cakes & scones. As well as their afternoon tea we surprised them to two nights stay in the hotel too....... I cannot thank the staff involved enough as my mum & dad are STILL a few weeks later saying what a fantastic amazing time they had and it's given them a lot of happy memories...... We would like to especially thank Connie (who's well into retirement age!!!!!) for looking after them so well during their stay and Ann & Nicola for restaurant service with more than a smile..... There are many more but sadly I didn't get their names!!!!! All I can say is that all of the staff at Moor Hall go that extra mile to make it more than a pleasant stay!!!!! Your managers should be very proud! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough ...... Well done Moor Hall you've certainly got something special there don't go changing it!!

« WAY overpriced and poor food »

Starting with the positive - the room. Comfortable, clean, effective air con, limited tv choice and lovely biscuits! Food is average in the bar - burger was not particularly hot and the chips were Betty greasy. Breakfast was a shambles, took 10 minutes for the staff to find me a tea bag, I ordered toast and got ONE slice and the poached eggs were watery and coated in vinegar. Add this to the £155 per night price tag and the cramped car park, it gives me the impression that it's geography is the only thing keeping this place alive. I won't be returning.

« Fab venue with brilliant management »

Stayed there for a weekend on a dinner, B&B break with my 4 siblings. The rooms were spacious and clean and the food was excellent. We had a couple of minor concerns over service during dinner which were dealt with speedily and efficiently by management leaving us feeling like valued customers. we definitely plan to go back next year. Fab location for running, walking and just meeting up and relaxing together with great spa facilities and a very amusing spin instructor in the gym!

« Very good experience, but shame about the over use of air freshener »

The hotel is close to Four Oaks train station and is set in sizeable grounds. Bedroom and bathroom of a good size. Room clean and tidy. Service very good. Food excellent. Only criticism is that the bedroom had an overpowering smell of air freshener that remained throughout my stay. Apart from the impact on my asthma, one always wonders what such over-use of air freshener is covering up.

    « Wedding reception »

Have just spent two nights at moor hall for my sons wedding. Fantastic venue and staff made everything run smoothly. Food at reception was excellent, as was food for the rest of our time there. Would highly recommend it. Special thanks to Jamie for his attention to everything.

    « A most welcome surprise! »

We stayed at Moor Hall Hotel last weekend for a family wedding. I had not expected the hotel to be anything but reasonably good. However after spending three days there along with family and friends I cannot praise the hotel enough. Without doubt it is the staff which pushed this hotel into the "Excellent "bracket. From the moment of our arrival absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Everyone in reception, bar and restaurant were welcoming, polite, attentive and charming. We immediately felt at home and relaxed in a very special way. The room which we had (74) was lovely although some of the wedding guests staying with us remarked on their rooms being dark and small. All guests staying in the newer part of the hotel were extremely happy with their rooms. The wedding reception (my son's) which took place in the Banqueting Suite was faultless. Jamie the manager for the day should be well and truly rewarded for his superb professionalism and attention to detail. He was always one step ahead noting everyone's needs and ensuring that the day was perfect for Bride and Groom and guests. The staff working with him were superb. Continually smiling, checking that everyone had all that they needed. I cannot praise the way that the wedding was handled enough. The day was an occasion that will be remembered for years to come. All our guests commented on the wonderful attitude of all the staff throughout the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed their stay there. Thank you Moor Hall for a lovely weekend.
