    « Nice room - remote location »

Having read the reviews I assumed, mistakenly, that this hotel was near the restaurants and bars of St Jean. This is NOT the case. The walk to the nearest restaurants is a long way especially if you have a heart condition - which I do. Walking back by the beach would be hazardous and scary at night and there are stretches of the road without pavements. The only option - if not eating at the hotel - is to drive and not partake of the lovely Loire wine at dinner. Forget the golf club bar/restaurant - it closes at 7.30 pm. However the hotel was clean and once we got the barmen trained up a bit - the bar service was excellent. We ate twice at the hotel and they do some very nice food and a bit thank you to Siric (head waiter) for being so patient and translating the menu for us. Staff all very helpful although we were a little concerned when the breakfast waitress tried to mend the toaster by sticking a large bread knife into it! But no one was electrocuted so that's OK. We stayed in the area from 14th to 17th September and many places already shut for the winter. If you want lunch get to your restaurant by 1.15 or forget it!

    « A great holiday hotel »

We booked this hotel early on in the year and with a falling heart i watched the bad reviews build up. I was dreading this holiday so much due to the bad reviews that i was having sleepless nights. How stupid was I??? Firstly ... The OUTSIDE swimming pool. Children are allowed in this pool at anytime during the day. There are no restrictions what so ever. My children wore normal swimming trunks as did other children and grown men. Our boys spent many hours on this pool and loved it. The staff are great!! Did what they could to answer any question. Smiled, served us politely at the bar and were just fine. The restaurant was clean and breakfast was OK. It offered an assortment of breads, croissant, fruit, yoghurts, pancakes , ham.and cheese. Most importantly they served real coffee. No complaints. We did not eat lunch or dinner here so unable to comment. The hotel itself is a 5 minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the main promenade lined with bars and restaurants. You can either walk into town by going through the back of the hotel and along the footpath at the back of the beach or along the road. We often walked in one way and back the other. Both ways are a flat easy enjoyable walk. The rooms - There is no air conditioning bit we were told we could have a fan however we fell asleep with the balcony door open and it was very comfortable. The room we had was large. We had a bcony overlooking the pool, forest and sea. The room was for four of us (2 adults, 2 children) and was plenty big enough. My husband and i were in a huge double bed and there was a double sofa bed already pulled out for the children. We anticipated this so took a blow up single mattress for one of our children (he has eczema and figits all night, so nit great to share with) and he slept very well on it. Having this extra mattress made no.difference to the room. It was very spacious. We had a great holiday here. The hotel is really nice, we spent alternative days at the beach or by the pool, the resort has some lovely restaurants and is great for an evening cocktail and the hotel room balconies are ideal for sitting on at night sharing a bottle of wine. All four of us have said we would love to return and i think we probably will. I love France and i love the French peoole and this was such a fabulous holiday. Thank you x

« Overpriced for level of quality and service but great location »

Admittedly we booked relatively late (a few weeks in advanced) and the hotel is 3 star but felt that the price we paid was over the top compared with level of quality and service. We did not use pool or spa facilities so cannot comment on that. We had a comfort room which was very outdated and had no air conditioning. There was a nice balcony with sea view and unlike some reviews we found our bed very comfortable. The breakfast was acceptable (bread was good) but there was a lack of basic provisioning of water, hot food items etc. one guest had ordered breakfast in his room which came without butter or coffee!! The location is great and in easy reach of the beach, promenade etc. I would not stay here again.

« One of the best holidays ever »

Don't take notice of the negative comments written about this hotel! We have just stayed there for 9 days with our 4 year old and it was excellent. The hotels is friendly, clean, modern, with a great pool and restaurant. Its location for the beach and town is superb and the cycling is to die for. Some people I guess just need to get a life. This is not the Plaza Athene and nor should it be judged that way.

    « Dump »

We were staying at Appart'Hotel Spa Atlantic Golf attached to the best western, same hotel to be honest, one reception same staff in a studio. All I can say is what a hovel, an expensive one at that. Most of the staff are rude and certainly wasn't what was sold on the website. Luckily we were only staying over night on our way elsewhere. Very poor quality rooms, which are v dated, strange smelling corridors and a general mish mash of furniture and strange electrics. The only ok thing was the pool, which my son enjoyed. I will not be here again ever !

« Middle of the road hotel »

From the outside the hotel looks pleasant but the reception area is dull and dated. The room was satisfactory but the bed was extremely uncomfortable. We had a pleasant balcony overlooking the pool with a couple of chairs and a table. Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection of items. We did not use the pool or spa facilities so I can't comment on them. Overall it was adequate.

    « Dissapointing »

Sadly does not meet our expectations despite a good rating. If you stay in the studio expect nothing not even toilet paper. Don't expect any information. Don't expect a cleaning service. Do not expect a bed it is a sofa bed. Don't expect aircon. Don't expect a window or fan in the bathroom. We explained it was our honeymoon and we would pay for a nicer room and they said they were full despite still advertising rooms on booking.com. Very disappointed. Can't believe this is a best western.

« Too expensive for an average room »

The hotel offers access to the spa and wellness complex, but we did not use that. Just evaluating the room, good size, clean but the bath room is overdue for a update, I'd say that the room is 25€ overpriced. Certainly when compared to our previous hotel, Le Mauritia in Pornic. But we did sleep well, I must admit and they do have a good locker for the bikes.

    « Comfortable hotel »

Large bedroom and small balcony with table and two chairs.Plenty of cupboard space, fridge, kettle etc. Good WiFi and TV. Comfortable bed and bedding. Decent size bathroom spotlessly clean and good quality towels. Fixed shampoo/soap dispenser.A mat for use in the bath/shower available on request (the bath is slippery). Good breakfast selection.

« Good location ; noisy rooms ; average Thalasso center »

We were there at the end of August for a week-end. Location is good. But Hotel itself is average. Definitely not a romantic or fancy hotel. The rooms were very noisy. We were woken up by our neighbor just taking a shower. We felt he was having a shower in our own bathroom ! On one night, we came back late (2am), and had to wait for 15mn for someone to open the door for us. The lady was "doing something else" and was not answering the calls from the door bell. Rooms are clean and have nothing wrong. The Thalasso center nearby is also average. Average age is "retired". You must wear a swimming hat and for men a speedo to access the pool. Nothing wrong with it, it was clean and all, but nothing fancy either. In any case, we will not go there again. Not the worst experience of our lives, but not recommended.

    « shame »

could have done it better as the restaurant looked good but unfortunately the mains were extremely poor with no vegetarian, and not much of it or choice, the rooms were exceptionally noisy and hot with the bins just out side early morning and late at night. the staff were very friendly and the spa was a plus, its just a shame as it could have been so good

« Good Hotel in good location »

Really enjoyed our stay here. Room felt recently refurbished and was clean. Breakfast was buffet and was OK Had outside pool which was good, and access via covered walkway to adjacent thalasso-thrapy pool and jacuzzi. The thalasso pool was well equipped and OK Really liked hotel location in quieter part of town and with good access to beach and walks through pine woods

« A good choice for St Jean De Monts »

We had a duplex apartment, which had a double bedroom upstairs, with en suite (bath and vanity but strangely no toilet), and a kitchenette with double sofa bed downstairs, bathroom, and further single bed under the stairs. There was also a balcony overlooking the road and golf course, though the best view was from the really large velux window over the bed in the upstairs room. The hotel is a little way out from the main part of the resort / promenade, but this is actually a good thing: Any closer and parking would become difficult, whereas we had no problems, and this was in the peak weeks of August. Jean De Monts is a really busy place! We didn't use the spa or restaurant on this trip. We did sit in the bar area, and sat outside a couple of times when the unfortunate weather allowed. As this is a beach resort, I guess a smallish pool is no issue - it's not far to the beach. The lack of toilet in the en suite was a shame, as it meant disturbing the kids for trips to the downstairs loo, and the balcony did not get much use, as there was no outside light. Service was good - we realised at bedtime there were not enough sets of sheets, and after a phone call down to reception additional bedding was brought up to us really quickly. Overall though we did like this hotel.

    « Relaxing holidays »

Good service. Very pleasant room. Staff excellent & Helpful. Location not the best but amenities of a good standard. What I liked best was my room & restaurant & least no English Television also the area by the swimming pool could be much improved you did feel as though you were sitting in the car park.

    « Anniversary Celebration »

Had a lovely trip to this hotel for our anniversary. We live in France so the language was not a problem although the hotel receptionists and personnel in the spa spoke some English. Arrived in terrible weather so the spa was full but managed to sort out what we needed to do and had a steam and a swim. There are bikes in the pool and regular short classes to take part in at no extra cost. We already knew that "budgie smugglers" were the order of the day as well as swimming hats so had come prepared as prices in their shop are very high. Our room was lovely overlooking the small outdoor pool and garden. St Jean itself is OK but nothing to go crazy over. I would definitely go to this hotel again. Eat in the restaurant on the first evening and it was very good. There are nicer seaside places further down the coast but was fine for our short break.

« Ok for the money. »

We spent three nights in the Best western. We were allocated a decent sized family room which provided a bunk area for the girls and a small kitchenette, dining are and a double bed. The room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park and unfortunately was near the bins. Not smelly or anything but could be quite noisy. The location of the hotel is not ideal if you do not have a car as it is about a ten minute drive to both the beach and a few minute more the large Super u. We had breakfast included. It was ok, but choose the time you go down carefully. The ate you went the busier it was. There was only the only lady on serving most days and she was some what overwhelmed trying to keep the buffet stocked and the tables cleared. There was a few people waiting on two of the mornings for both a clean table or various crockery items etc. She was perfectly polite, but as a comment to management we all felt more staff should have been provided. The hotel is in some areas looking a bit tired and somewhat neglected, which was a shame. The weather when we stayed was raining which was a shame because the beach is lovely. We made full use of the indoor pool. We had not been informed before hand that it was SALT water but the informative manager was happy to explain the health benefits etc. We had been greeted on the way in so had no problem with what was on offer and what we could/couldn't use. It is worth noting that the water is not chlorinated so if like my husband you are prone to ear infection this may not be a good alternative. This is a great alternative to camping or caravan for the money, so I would recommend. Oh and to the person who hit my car in the car park and didn't leave a note ? THANK YOU!!!!!

    « overnight »

in apartment - bunks for the kids and small kitchen. Double bed was a pull out - fine for an overnight but couch uncomfortable if there a long time. Thalassa poll was great - remember though - no swim shorts for guys - speedos only and and a swim hat. tiny pool by bar has fewer restrictions. Basic room - clean and functional

Good room. Good service No international tv channels Poor poolside service not enough sunloungers No evening entertainment Hotel situated quite a long way from attractions. Cuisine totally French it would have been better if some international choices were on the menu. Food was expensive and no cheaper alternatives were offered. Gardens were poorly tended. Lack of flowers and outside area needed brushing.

Hotel in a quiet area we had room overlooking golf course, you will need to enjoy walking, beach 10 mins. Hotel restaurant very good, but, if you try other establishments and need wine with your meal it's 30 mins walk or 5 mins drive (without wine) to seafront area and fair selection of restaurants and plenty parking. St Jean de Mont has a seafront which is total apartments and only one hotel within 200yds of the very good sandy beach with cafes etc. Le bourg is the town area nearby which is a nice town with a huge market. Back to our hotel, we had good service/advice no complaints except the outside need a lick of paint ! no air con, room very warm. The SPA. Not much help offered by staff as to where to change or deposit cloths, where the pool was, it is a large place. We found the pool only to be informed that LYCRA shorts and CAP were required, (no previous mention of this requirement)but the lifeguard was found to be the only helpful member of staff, she allowed pool use on only one occasion with shorts. Salt level in pool to high for me, greater than the Dead Sea so not used again, using the small pool near the hotel.
