    « Was not happy with the Breakfast Room »

    I had no problem with finding the hotel off Interstate 81, no problem checking in, the room was fine. But, in order to get something to eat you have to go into the town of Radford. Parking in town is hard to find as the restaurants are surrounding the university. There is a subway as well. In the morning, I went to breakfast and was sadden disappointed, the bacon was so black that I wouldn't even touch it. With that I checked out and stopped somewhere along the way on my drive. The room is clean, comfy bed, staff at front desk was very polite and helpful.

    We did not get the room with bed we had reserved through Trip Advisor. Staff said they simply did not have the room we had confirmed. Hotel looked a little beat up along the hallways. Breakfast was good.

    « Not the best, Best Western »

    Just stayed one night. Who cares about decor? You're not looking to buy! On the positive, the room was clean and the internet fast. There was an odor but you quickly get used to it. The hotel rooms are spread out so it can be a hike to get to the desk or breakfast area. Breakfast was ok, except watery eggs and items not being replaced, despite the fact employees were sitting there eating. The beds were not very comfortable, and the walls thin. I could hear any conversation from next door despite running the fan constantly. Also I could hear the sounds of footsteps all morning. If you are a sound sleeper and a poor mattress and pillows don't matter, this place might be a good value.

    While we thought the hotel was scheduled for demolition ( it needs a complete makeover) the shower was the best we encountered in a week of travels! Worth the stay for this alone. The amenities were actually o.k. but the Bates Motel feeling was extreme.

    We always try to make it to the BW Radford Inn on our repeat trip between two homes in NJ and northeast Florida. We have found this to be a much better choice than other hotels along I-81 that are both pet friendly and similarly priced. We like the setting, which is off the Interstate and very close to this nice college town nestled within the beautiful Blue Mountains. The room and bath are always clean and quiet, especially on the side that is away from the parking lot. Beds are good. Plenty of convenient space to walk Fido. Generous breakfast included. If you have pets, make sure that you make that clear to the front desk from the start so that there are no misunderstandings. Pet fee is more reasonable than others.

    « Nice Stay for the Value »

    Nice Clean comfortable room. It was quite but wasn't very busy. If it had been more customers there I could see where it might could be a little noisy, like during college invents Nice, well displayed breakfast area plenty of access and easy to navigate well thoughtfully laid out.. I didn't need to cross the room with the bread to find the toaster. The hotel starting to show some age. but still well maintained. It was well located to the area I was needing to visit , and It wasn't costing me $180.00 plus a night either. All in all I would stay here again if I needed to be in this area.

    This BW hotel is located in the Blue Ridge Mountain area and quite near the local college. Quaint town nearby with a sufficient number of restaurants and site seeing opportunities. Reasonable rates and a great breakfast offered.

    I can not say enough wonderful things about the staff. Alex, Patricia, Ronnie, and Lisa are outstanding employees who went above and beyond the call of duty on our recent stay there.They treated us like we were family and I will never forget them and their warm hearts.

    « Right down the street from Radford University »

    My first time to this hotel. About 5 minutes from the exit off Interstate 81. It sits back from the road and looks very nice from the outside. As I entered the lobby the front desk is to my right. A very nice sitting area is sat back with coffee. To the left and tucked in a corner is the hospitality room where free breakfast is served and also to the left is a very nice fireplace that I wonder if they use during the winter months. The front desk clerk at the counter ( I forget his name now) on the September evening is very pleasant and very efficient and was able to recommend a very nice place to eat right in the heart of Radford University- the Radford Bar and Grill. Where iyou show your room key and you get 10% off. The first thing I notice is that there is plenty of parking spaces. My room is one the first floor. It is a standard room with the basics. It's clean and will do for the night. The bathroom is clean which is always a plus. Ice and soda machine is halfway down the hall which is nice. I don't have to go hunting for it. Breakfast starts at 6am for those who need to be on the road early. Although it has all the basics- cereal, waffles, juice, coffee , muffins, toast, eggs and sausage links my only disappointment was the sausage links. They were very over cooked to the point that they were black. Other then that the stay was comfortable and I will keep it in mind for a future stay.

    This hotel was in a beautiful, quiet, little college town with lots to see and do. Historical sites nearby, winery for touring, great view, hiking. . .lots of restaurants and stores for shopping. Friendly, helpful, caring staff. Would definitely stop here again!

    « Not what it used to be »

    We stayed here many years ago when it seemed to be in its prime. It has become somewhat dingy and in need of a facelift and repair. There was a big bucket catching water from a leaking ceiling just inside the main door. The lobby was somewhat dark and uninviting. Ice machine on the main floor was out of order. Halls and room had a musty smell. Carpet in room in need of deep cleaning. However, the breakfast was adequate and tasty. Plenty of room to sit since the attached restaurant, which is up for rent, was available for seating. However, the cost for a stay at this place made it pricy for the quality received.

    « A good nights sleep »

    After leaving NY and driving for 11 hours I was ready to stop and rest. I was trying to get home before Hurricane Hermine hit my area but I could not make it. After I checked in I was able to get a second night right away, keeping me out of harms way as the Hurricane marched up the coast. The staff was very accommodating and I was able to rest up for the last leg of my trip.

    I will point out that I am a Best Western Rewards member and this was my third time staying at this hotel. My daughter is a new student at Radford University and this hotel is the most convenient. The previous two times we stayed here, the hotel was undergoing renovations, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt when things were not quite right. This time I was told that the renovations are finished except for the fitness room. First, on a positive note, the staff is always friendly and helpful and the location is great if you are visiting the University. On the negative side, the renovations were low quality and only cosmetic. The paint color in the halls is dark ship grey and just looks terrible. I don't think the paint was the correct paint for the doors because almost every door has new paint peeling as if it did not adhere. Our room had a bathroom door that did not fit the door jam and would not close. The bathroom also had the exhaust fan and towel racks hanging as it appeared they were screwed directly into the dry wall and were not anchored. Our room fridge was old, wobbly, and the door at times would not close. We woke one morning to find the door did not close and all of our drinks were warm. The final straw came at checkout. Originally I had reservations for two nights, Thursday and Friday, to move our daughter into her dorm. A week prior, I called and asked if they had availability for Saturday as my wife and I decided we would like to spend a day visiting wineries in the area. They said yes, they had plenty of rooms available and added the third night onto our room. I was happy. My rate originally was $99 a night for Thursday and Friday. I was wrong to assume that the rate would be the same for the Saturday night because when I checked out, I was charged $209 for Saturday night. I asked and the clerk said they were completely booked that night. I don't think they gave me any discount for AAA or Rewards. I can justify $99 a night for an imperfect hotel that is convenient. I can not justify $200+. We are returning to the area in October and we have made arrangements somewhere else.

    Stayed there once before and there was a few problems stayed there again and everything was really good. We had no problems and they had also put new carpet down that look really nice. All the problems I had on the last stay was not a problem this time the room was better.

    Restraunt and Gym closed!! Pool was ok not a clean as I would like to have it....people where very nice.....very rural area so when I got to hotel and was told there is NO taxi or shuttle service it was very difficult !!!!

    My husband, son and I stayed here for 1 night after moving our daughter into Radford. The 2 young men at the front desk were nice enough but I quickly began to notice how run down the hotel was. Dark lighting, worn furnishings, chipping paint, etc. Our room had a large water stain on the ceiling with peeling paint. The bathtub was cheap and stained. The toiletries provided were the bare minimum.....not what I expect for paying over $200 a night. The whole place is old and dingy! I understand supply and demand; it was move in weekend and there is little competition. However, I expect better than what we received. I will not stay here again. I see other bad reviews from over a year ago and I see management's response that it will be fixed; I doubt this is their intention. They are relying on low competition and close proximity to Radford. Stay somewhere else and force the owners to renovate!

    « Holidome type hotel, lots of hotel for the money »

    We stayed here for one night of our road trip. We were in the Radford area to see historic sites connected to Mary Draper Ingles (definitely look up her story if you don't know who she is!). We chose the Best Western because they had a coupon in one of those highway coupon books you pick up at rest stops. I always thought those were rip offs, just offered to get you into the lobby only to deny availability and sell you a more expensive rate, but not so here. They happily took our coupon (it was a Thursday) and gave us the rate listed! We were glad to get such a great rate. The hotel seems to be an old Holiday Inn Holidome or designed after one. It's a good looking property, redone to look kind of colonial on the exterior and in the public areas. This was definitely one of our bigger bargains of our trip. Our room was nice and comfortable. I liked our bed and slept well. My partner did not. You know how it is with beds. They're different for all people. She thought it was too soft. The room decor was nice, dark wood and modern lighting. There were some nice little reading lights that can be directed with their flexible stem. We had a refrigerator in the room. The in-room coffee was a small one cup brewer that uses the small pillows of coffee. Not so great, but totally accepted. The area was nice and quiet. We felt fine leaving our fully loaded car in the lot over night. My biggest thrill with the room were the shelves in the shower! You don't get that very often, mostly because they're hard to clean. I hate having my toiletries falling into the tub multiple times each shower. If I was going to stay in Radford for any time at all, those shelves would sell me! We visited the pool and it was nice. It was an indoor pool and the room was very pretty, with a wooden trussed roof. I'm not sure it was heated, but it was not too cold. There is a hot tub with kind of weak jets, and a kiddie pool. There is an outdoor patio area surrounded by beautiful crepe myrtle. While we were in the pool, some "evil teenagers" arrived. They had beer bottles and loud music with them. They were responsive to my suggestion that they move their music away from my partner and I, so we didn't need to involve anyone else. My partner felt it was a bad sign that no one from the hotel stopped them at anytime. I don't think that any hotel staff knew what was going on. In fact, the only staff I saw that night was the young man at the desk, who was very nice and friendly. I dunno. I have a long history of working at hotels and just didn't think it was that bad - aside from having glass around a pool. If they don't have security staff, they should probably have cameras in the public areas or have the desk staff check the pool on a regular schedule. Breakfast was included in the room rate. It was in an area that used to be a restaurant, so there was plenty of room for everyone, which is so nice compared to what you usually see at a free hotel breakfast. They had eggs, biscuits and gravy, baked items, cereal, oatmeal, etc. It was all good, except the doughnuts which were a little stale, but no big whoop. My only "complaint" was that I was trying to make a call from their (really nice and large) lobby after breakfast. The ladies working behind the desk were so loud that I had to move, then finally give up on making my call. I suppose it was homey, but they might want to consider discussing "front of the house" and "back of the house" voices. I really liked my experience here and would stay again. My partner would not due to the bed and the pool area issue. But I'm writing this review, so four dots it is!

    We needed to stay near Radford University and had points so chose the Best Western. What a mistake - should have paid and stayed at LaQuinta. All was okay until we woke up in the morning to find hundreds of tiny ants on the dresser. While reporting this to the front desk the agent took a phone call from someone about check in time and was on the phone for over 5 minutes. Someone else tried to help and couldn't find us another room. Finally after about 15 minutes they got us another room. No on apologized or asked where the ants were so they could address the issue. Then we went to breakfast and the air conditioning was broken; no orange juice; no bowls; the doors to the room bathrooms did not open all the way and in one room wasn't painted. They are trying to renovate this hotel, but should consider renovating the staff as well. Will not stay here again. Already booked La Quinta for graduation.

    « Trying to reserve/book several rooms and banquet room »

    My daughter is graduating in December from Radford University. My husband and I came up from Richmond area for a visit and to look into securing a space for a graduation celebration. Since we live more than 4 hours away we wanted to make these decisions in person. We were also inquiring about booking/reserving several guest rooms at the same point in time, for out of town family who would be attending. We called this hotel the evening before to see if we could speak to a manager and look at the rentable banquet rooms. We were told to come between 7-3 the next day. We arrived at noon. We were greeted with confusion, rudeness and eye rolling. The very unprofessional manager Melissa, then proceeded to tell us we could not look at any rooms. Then went into a rant, before even giving us price ranges, that we could not have alcohol and if we did we would be kicked out. She mentioned alcohol several times. Now I understand she does not know us but my husband and I were standing there with our 15 year old son and our graduating daughter. What about our family made her think we were just there for a "party" room. I even very sternly said "this will be a family event" she did not stop and I had to repeat myself. I was very confused. Does Best Western frown upon making money? Do they train their employees to be rude, unprofessional and insulting? We really just wanted to book 12 guest rooms and the use of a banquet room for December. The manager provided us with no information even after checking the calendar and seeing that our dates were available, it was clear she did not want our patronage. She closed the conversation with telling us to call the fraternal order of police to rent a hall......huh! We left went straight to Comfort Inn. After receiving excellent, warm customer service we handed over our credit card and booked 12 rooms, and 4 hours use of their breakfast room. Best Western must have policies on who they take money from. If you are just renting a room for the night I'm sure they are adequate as this is probably the only skills they possess. However, if you are trying to celebrate an event with several rooms and several people just go down the street to the Comfort Inn.

    My son stayed there with friends. A problem arose and management was completely unresponsive and uncooperative in solving the problem. Not a good place to stay. The problem was solved by my son but he had to rent another room to solve it.

    From Patricia at the Front desk to the housekeeper who promised us a great breakfast, we met some wonderful customer service. The carpets were damp from washing but the people who work there are so pleasant.

    The Best Western in Radford, VA has been going thru remodeling and what a change. The halls are brighter and the rooms are more up to date. They now have USB plugs between the beds for easy access. I enjoyed my stay.

    I made a reservation through Expedia and then cancelled. However, Best Western (Radford Inn) refused to refund after they agreed to do so. First Best Western claimed that I was a "no show" and then claimed that I used the reservation...I didn't use it. In short, Best Western lied to me, lied to Expedia just to keep $84.15.

    Although this hotel is not in the middle of town it is very convenient to the highway and town. The rooms are clean and common areas are easy to access. The rustic lodge motif is charming.The hotel in nothing extravagant but very pleasant with spacious king bed rooms.

    First experienced on a dark and stormy night on the way to Charlottesville, I have now returned several times on subsequent road trips. This is s true respite that has only improved over time: the grounds have steadily been improved with landscaping and facilities (hot tub!). Breakfast is elaborate and comfortable.

    We stayed here during our long drive to PA. The hotel staff were very kind. The pool was great. They even kept the breakfast room open for an extra 15 minutes to accommodate us. I would stay here again though the hotel was 2 minutes from the highway.

    « First impressions was not good bet it got better »

    Had some paint smell from the construction as soon as walked in but we got used to it very quick ,rooms were clean and had cold air and good TV..Fridge and microwave was a plus Breakfast was average with eggs sausage waffles,biscuit, gravy cereal.Just OK....Wifi was great and free and would stream movies. It was a good bargain for the area

    « Best Virginia Hotel on I-81 Corridor »

    For any kind of traveler(s) driving the I-81 corridor in Virginia, there is 1 hotel -- very reasonably priced -- that stands out over all others: the Best Western in Radford, Virginia. It's not just the fact that the hotel is easily accessible from I-81, or that the rooms are very comfortable and up-to-date, or even that the pool is great or and the hot breakfast varieties are so good. No, it's the staff who can "make or break" a hotel experience, and Jonathan Davidson of the Radford BW is a ringing example of how best to meet traveler needs, including untangling, policy matters of an on-line hotel booking service as well as knowing how to respond to the allergy-driven culinary needs of a father and his 16-year old son. Davidson, it turns out, is a business student at Radford University, and he clearly knows "marketing." The BW corporate recruiters ought to be wooing him to become a BW Regional Marketing official, since he obviously knows the business and could enlighten many others in the hospitality industry! (White they are at it, BW Corporate ought to think hard about partnering with Radford University to ensure they get other enterprising business students to work for them at their hotel). Finally, kudos go to Radford BW General Manager Teresa Orange...who obviously knows how to run a hotel for the benefit of the customers while simultaneously making a nice profit for the company that owns the hotel.

    « Price explained ... »

    Was given a reduced room rate because it did not have blinds only a blanket to cover the Windows which was fine. We were tired so we just wanted to get to sleep. When we got to the room the toilet was broken, shower was dirty, and towels were stained! Front desk was very nice at check in and check out, I didn't bother to complain. I just learned my lesson for further visits. (I'll stay in Blacksburg)

    They was in renovation, and was a little bit noisy. But for one night it was OK, Price a little to high. It was a surprise when they do some renovation inside the hall way, it will be appreciated if we know in advance so we can decided if it was convenient for us to stay or not when we reserve a month in advance for the room.

    Very friendly atmosphere. Hotel is under renovations however, existing rooms are very clean and well kept. Beds are extremely comfortable!! FREE breakfast with eggs, sausage, biscuits, & waffles etc.. Exercise during your hotel stay will be limited as there is only 1 working machine out of the 3 available. Need creativity in your workout. Forces you to get out and explore the many parks in the area. Overall the biggest bang for your buck!

    Building in reviews looked very historic and attractive. Upon arrival staff was very helpful. About 1/2 of hotel rooms have been renovated and are quite nice. New king bed very comfortable and room well appointed with new furnishings. Free breakfast and wi fi. Would definitely recommend.

    It's a shame that you take advantage of people in town for the state high school tournaments. When I logged on the website to get my reservation the date automatically came up June 3rd. Pricing for that date was in the $80-90 range. When I set the date to June 9th (tournament time)the rate doubled with no discounts allowed. Shameful!!!! I am in the gasoline business and we are not allowed to price gouge during time of shortages. Also, I know you were remodeling, but the paint smell in the room was really bad.

    This best western is about 2 miles away from the interstate but is a good place to stay, the rooms are new, have been remodeled and updated, the staff were nice, breakfast was good several choices, inside of motel looks better than outside, no close restaurants near by , not in walking distance

    The hotel is undergoing renovations and the hallways have a strong new carpet and paint smell. The original room they gave me was dusty with dryway crumbles on the carpet and dust in the sink and bathroom.. Also a black ink? spot on sheets where the covers were folded down. They gave me a new room when I asked to change.

    « The hearty sounds of remodeling at midnight. »

    Looks like they are doing some nice improvements to the dated finishes. Bad thing for me is that I'm a construction manager and after a day on the jobsite I'd rather not go "home" to a construction site. I was given an ADA room, which isn't that big of a deal but the whole experience has been a comedy of errors. After waking up with a splitting headache the second night I told the girl at the front desk on my third evening there that I would be checking out in the morning. She was preocuppied with a 'friend' at the counter and didn't input anything on the screen so I went back the next morning to make sure someone understood that I was checking out and why. Same girl at the counter, she had gone home and come back and I'm not sure she input anything at that time either, just kind of made a waving motion in the direction of the PC. lol I left after 3 nights and now the management has refused to refund the remainder of my two week reservation. My office was unable to get the refund so now I'm going through the chain of command to have the balance of unused nights removed from my credit card. Never had a problem like this with any Best Western I've stayed at or any other chain for that matter. Will update as we work through this matter.

    « Not great, but not bad »

    I'll get my biggest beef out of the way first. We stayed here for graduation. I expected rates to be inflated but not to the ridiculous $250 a night! I don't know if it's the local management's decision, or a corporate thing, but shame on them!! This place is definitely in need of renovations, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. They have really nice pillows. When first entering our room the smell of the air freshner that the maids must spray to cover the 'oldness' was overwhelming, but in time dimished and was bearable. The cookies, lemonade, and popcorn in the lobby were a nice touch. The breakfast was about what you'd expect, but was good. Thank you for putting out the shredded cheese for the eggs :-) I had an issue with our credit card being charged for a friend's reservation who didn't cancel, but with little argument it was politely resolved and refunded.

    Stayed here a year ago and was not very good. Requested two beds but given a room with king instead. There was hair in the bed which we had to change ourselves. The room dirty. We were told that renovations would be made by next year for graduation.so we thought we would give it another chance-BIG MISTAKE. Given a SMOKING room that has not been renovated and it reeked. The furniture was falling apart and DIRTY. We had to go buy air freshener didn't help much.Thought a Best Western would be good, not this one. Will never return to this hotel.

    « Convenient location to University, making changes »

    We have stayed at this motel several times traveling down to Florida and returning north. We were pleased to see the mgmt. is finally putting some effort in the upgrading the rooms. Rooms are small and using my computer was not easy. No convenient electric outlet. WiFi was slow. It was also cramped in the room trying to use the table provided for computer use. Sitting right in front of the A/c unit was uncomfortably cold. There are few places to stay in Radford, so we will probably use this BW again, but wish it would finish upgrades.

    « Not quite cheap and cheerful. »

    My original plan was to stay at a Best Western Plus further north in Roanoke. Since, however, I was going to Carowinds the next day and just needed a place to sleep for a few hours, I figured I'd save some money and decided to book this hotel here in Radford. Was it worth the savings? Well, in a word, no. I arrived some time after 11 PM after an arduous drive from southeast Pennsylvania (Virginia, as it turns out, is an interminably a long state to drive through). The front desk agent was very friendly and even offered to give me a few send-off breakfast items in the event I left before 6 AM, which I did. Things started to go a bit awry when I asked about using my Best Western Rewards card number. She assured me that I couldn't, though I remained resolute that the Best Western Plus I'd be staying at in Charlotte would take it (they did, but I'll cover that in my review of that place a little later). On the way up to my room, several signs were posted requesting guests to pardon the renovations the hotel was undergoing. This was made abundantly clear to me as I was hit with a waft of paint fumes in the elevator, and the second floor hallway which smelled like I was touring a busy cinder block factory. Once inside the room, after fetching a second set of room keys as the first set had failed, I was relieved that the smell didn't carry over (though I'd spent so much time attempting to get the first set of keys to work, I may have gone noseblind by that point). My relief was almost instantly stripped away, however, after I quickly spotted a house centipede occupying space on the wall just above the refrigerator. Not a big deal; I simply grabbed a tissue and disposed of the uninvited guest. As I began to look around the rest of the room, I noticed other imperfections, like chunks of carpet missing around the walls, though I gave those a pass on the grounds that the hotel was under renovations and that I wouldn't be sleeping on the floors anyway. To the room's credit, the bathrooms were much more inviting. Neatly trimmed and pretty clean as well. Easily my favorite thing about the room. The shower knob, however, was a complete nightmare to work. It reminded me of an old Atari game controller. Touchy and imprecise, using it was like trying to land a lunar space module. One millimeter to the left, it was boiling; in the center, it could freeze mercury; one millimeter to the right, it could give you hypothermia. By the time I'd adjusted it to a bearable temperature, I reckon I'd wasted enough water to safely and comfortably contain Tilikum. Where things really took a turn for the worse, however, was when I attempted to go to sleep. Inspection had revealed visible stains on the sheets (which I turned in an feeble effort to avoid) and the bed was topped with the world's worst comforter; heavy, itchy and coarse. The cherry on top were the various LED lights that became evident after the lights had been turned out. Maybe this is something that only irritates me, but the dozen or so lights, none of which could be turned off, seemed to glow with the fury of a dozen or so suns. As a result, I got less than two hours of sleep which was broken up every twenty minutes. The next day, I had my season pass picture taken for Carowinds, presumably looking like a gargoyle (though in all fairness, I'm hardly what you'd consider handsome anyway). Here's the point I'm trying to get at: Good things cost money. Many things are cheap for a reason, and it's because they're horrid. And if something is horrid, then no matter what your savings are, it isn't good value. In conclusion, it's still not as bad as the abject horror of my stay at the Comfort Inn in Williamsburg, VA last year, but that by no means automatically qualifies it for a passing grade. I would only recommend it if you bring your own comforter and a set of black stickers to cover the annoying lights. Otherwise, spend your money on a more expensive, better hotel and you'll be much better off. A good night's rest and your happiness is worth the investment.

    The place was nice clean. The continental breakfast was top notch. There was water that lesked out if the celing in the bathroom over the commode I called about it and was told by a nice man this had been a problenm today he would have keys fixed and move us this was 9:00pm did not want to move everthing and our dogs, so he said they would have someone look at it tomorrow. Next night the same thing. I mentioned at checkout and I was just blew off. the pool are was not good

    Ants and bugs within room, and bad smell, usually not like this and have stayed here multiple times over the years. Seems to have gone down hill quite a bit and this was what the group of people I stayed with thought as well.

    « Was impressed, good rate, quiet, easy in and out »

    Hadn't stayed at a Best Western in many years, usually staying at LaQuinta due to their no-extra-fee for pets policy. Our dog passed away almost 3 years ago, so since we were driving from NYC to Asheville, I looked for a place on 81 about 7 1/2 hrs away, about my limit and the pet policy wasn't an issue (In fact, I don't even know what theirs is). We were very impressed over some of the little things such as: the refrigerator was actually TURNED ON and it WORKED (we always travel with some odds and ends in a cooler and it was nice to actually use the 'fridge); the breakfast items included eggs, sausage, biscuits.... rather than the usual waffle, cold cereals and white bread for toast. So both hot and standard items were a plus. Clean, quiet, very decent for under $69 (which is now apparently the "low" end of the market). AND the TV actually had MSNBC, Food, Comedy Central rather than the standard broadcast lower tier, 10 sports and 3 Fox Noise stations. Bravo! (pun intended). The LQ was across the street and the rate was about $20 higher. So, very impressed and I will be comparing BW rates now more aggressively. And if other BWs are as pleasant as this one - and for that rate ... we'll be choosing them more often. PS One footnote they are in the midst of renovation but it didn't occur while we were there.

    I like this hotel for it's location. It's away from the interstate and has a country setting. The indoor pool and hot tub and a good draw point also. Breakfast is fairly good and lots to choice, and popcorn in the evening in the lobby. I like the little cafe down the street also.

    We needed a place close by Blacksburg High School for a weekend event. The rate was great, the staff was very accommodating and the breakfast was delicious. Like - scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and more. Rooms were comfortable and ours had a fridge and microwave. The staff opened breakfast for us a few minutes early so we could leave on time to make our event. Next time we are here - this is where we will stay!

    « This IS where I'll stay when I go back to Radford. »

    I was very pleased with my stay. I stay in a lot of hotels, and find most staff just down right stupid, if not unpleasant. I know I have friends in Radford after staying here, and I will not consider another place upon my return. Very hot showers and a comfortable bed is what I'm looking for, and I got them both here. I enjoyed the hot tub a few times. But what surprised me the most is how caring the staff was. When we were snowed in, they went to the store to provide a hot meal (over and above the hot breakfast) for stranded travellers. Thanks to all of the staff there for all you guys did. Hope to see you again.

    Being Radford is a small town there is not much of a choice for hotels. We chose the Best Western because of reviews we read and because it was only 5 minutes from our granddaughter's apartment. We found Best Western to be very clean, the room we were in #110 was very spacious, clean and the beds very comfortable. Has a continental breakfast, heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, meeting facilities and plenty of parking. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. Best Western is also very close to the town of Radford and the University. We enjoyed our stay.

    A mistake by the front desk of giving out our room to someone else was very unnerving. 1st time that has ever occurred at a BW. The motel is convenient to our travel plans, but it needs updating in the rooms especially the bathrooms

    This is an old hotel. Where to start? Terrible WiFi: lost my s-l-o-w connection after 45 min?no desk, no outlets at all in room to plug into, thin blankets with no bedspread, no grab bars in shower, bathroom fan in my room very noisy, light switches worn out and hard to use. Breakfast had no warm eggs or bacon.

    The room was comfortable. Heater was loud. Staff, all of them were exceptional. The breakfast was great. Room was clean. Mattress comfortable. Price met good expectations. I would stay here again just for the staff. It is wonderful to have such great customer service.

    My hotel room was good. The beds were comfortable. Service was good. I checked in and out easily and quickly. there was a pool which we thought was good. The breakfast in the morning tasted good, but didn't have a good variety of foods. the pillows are comfortable and abundant. The maid service was good and they did their job well. It was quiet in our room. We liked that it had a nice window with black out curtains. Also that there was a air conditioner and heater!

    Located in this quaint college town of Radford, VA, this pleasant hotel is off the interstate and about 60 miles from Roanoke but it is worth getting off the beaten path. Restaurants are close and the town is lovely. Hotel is clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Pillow were awful, but that was the only blemish

    Very good overall. There is no restaurant, contrary to what the website advertise. The rear door was found insecure, the same occurred last year. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The shopping district is relatively close by.

    I work about 100 miles from my home. Because of this, I spend around 3 nights a week in this hotel. The staff always goes out of their way to meet my needs. Most of them greet me by my first name when I check in. I feel like this is my home away from home.

    Hotel was ok, but could use some renovations. Front desk agents were very friendly and helpful. Carpet is old, walls need repair and paint along with some other things. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Area is quiet.

    This facility is a well established Inn in a nice college town setting in the Shenandoah. We have stayed here before and we a little disappointed that the bathtub appeared to not have been cleaned to the usual standard. The rest of our room was fine. We also noted the corridor carpeting was looking like it needed a good cleaning. I mentioned these concerns at checkout and the desk clerk thanked me and made several notes. She indicated they had very recently made changes in housekeeping staff because of these issues. She also indicated that all the carpeting was in the process of being replaced. I felt comfortable that the issues are being addressed and will schedule another stay on a future trip. Traveler Tip. Check prices ahead of times. When there are events at the college the room rates can be significantly higher. At other times it has proven to be a good buy.

    I stayed at the Best Western Radford Inn for 8 nights. Nothing special about the hotel. Good room for a good price. The breakfast was better than I had hoped for. Scrambled eggs and sausage was available every morning in addition to the standard continental breakfast fare. The water pressure and hot water in the shower was very good. Ventilation of the bathroom was almost not existent, so best to leave the bathroom door open when showering. The only two issues I had during my stay was that the room keycard failed to work twice in the week during my stay and there was a strong smell of bleach in my room when I first checked in. That smell disappeared after the first night however, so I did not report it to the staff. If I have business at Radford University in the future, I will almost certainly stay here again.

    Nice staff, unkempt hotel. Good location, great walking areas. Exterior doors do not lock. Efficiency building not up to par with cleanliness. Staff poorly dressed, towels felt rough on skin. Good price but you get what you pay for. While staff are friendly, they don't have a quality hotel product to endorse.

    My wife and I stayed here after going to the VT/OSU game this year. We typically stay 20 minutes further down the road, but tried to stay closer to Blacksburg since the game wasn't likely to wrap up until after midnight. Tried to check in post 3 PM after calling ahead to make sure room was ready. We were at least 5th on the waiting list. Eventually, we checked in after 12:30 AM to find a room that was most certainly a smoking room at some point. Combine that with a competing moldy/musty smell and beds in need of an upgrade. If we were paying $49 a night, it was exactly what we would have expected. But at more than twice that - it was a disappointment. The breakfast was the best part of the stay.

    Have stayed here twice in last 45 days. Received room we requested both times.Clean .Adequate towels that even spouse does not request additional.Indoor poll was down for maintainance recent visit,but on previous visit was extremely clean and spacious along with hot tub. Indoor corridors with elevator provides secure passage to pool and breakfast area. Breakfast was standard plus but was replenished continually by two staff. Walking area with sidewalk at rear of property.We will return twice annually going foreward

    phoned 8 hrs before and ordered rooms, she said everything was good to go, arrived in my room and old sheets were on chair and no new sheets were on bed,had to get house cleaning to come to the room at 7pm to put on clean ones also had to kill bug climbing up the up the wall.

    « Disgusting room 161 »

    This place was so disgusting that I can't understand how they are even open. We stayed on 10/09/2015 because it was the only room anywhere in the Blacksburg area. Upon arrival at 3:15 pm after driving 3.5 hours there would be a 20 to 30 minute wait for the room to be prepped. This was told to (3) other people at the same time. We went straight to VT for the game and upon return we entered our room #161! If you stay anywhere near Radford avoid this place. And yes I do have pictures!

    « Did not support request for non-smoking room initially & no restaurant on site »

    Booked on Best Westerns website well ahead of time and requested non-smoking room. Arrived during the evening, but not late, and my reservation was found upon check in and verbally asked for confirmation that the room was a smoke free room. Received the confirmation and the room key cards and was instructed where to find the room. Was however very surprised to see an ashtray in the room plus quickly recognize odor from smoking PLUS hear a sound from above that sounded like a laundry machine. Walked upstairs to see if I could find the reason for the noise but could not find anything obvious. Combination of odor and noise lead that I walked back to the reception in the main building and asked for another room, and again asked for a non-smoking room and quickly received a room change to another room in the same building but on the other side. Walked back and found that that room also had a slight odor and that the temperature was colder than the corridor so I tried to turn on the heater but was not successful so I went back to the reception again and asked for another room. The receptionist went to check on a room in the main building to see if it was cleaned which it was so he change the access cards again PLUS confirmed that the separate building has few non smoking rooms but is otherwise is open for smokers. No excuse was offered for my trouble and found later on that hair drier not worked! Last but not least, this particular hotels page on Best Westerns website indicated a Mexican restaurant on site but this had been closed for at least 3 months. Conclusion is that this is not a hotel that I will choose again unless no other is available for reasonable cost PLUS I would request a room in the main building!

    « Would not cancel reservation during State of Emergency »

    There is a state of emergency declared for the south-west portion of Virginia and reports of bridges being washed away in Radford. When I inquired whether I could cancel my reservation on the day of due to the inclement weather and not wanting to make the trip I was told that I would be charged the full rate of the room. I understand that's the policy, however, in these conditions I would expect any decent business to make an exception. Poor customer service is a cultural issue, I am willing to be it extends into the rest of their business.

    Very good place to stay I do stay there quite often on business and am happy with the overall condition and the staff in that hotel I am a long haul trucker and do stay in motels all over this country and in Canada so I suppose in that respect I consider myself an expert in Hotel quality and this one is in the top three

    « Second rate... »

    I was disappointed in my stay at this hotel. When I pulled back the sheets at bedtime, I discovered 3 black human hairs in the middle of the fitted sheet... their color made them very easy to see... how did housekeeping miss them? In the morning, I discovered an empty can of beer in the bottom of the bedside table. I brought the problem with the hairs to the attention of the young man behind the counter in the lobby. He seemed to make a note of it, but didn't offer an apology of any kind. The room & linens were otherwise clean. And a minor complaint.... the landscaping was not being maintained. The complementary breakfast was about average. I was disappointed that yogurt wasn't offered... but that's an observation, not a criticism. I would not return to this Best Western...

    « Horrible Disinfectant Smell »

    The entire hotel and especially our room smelled so strongly of disinfectant/air freshener, that it made it impossible to sleep as I felt like I was being poisoned. I almost went out and slept in my car and would have left and gone somewhere else but every place else was booked that night.
