"Newark Trip"
sarahelsie, 16 Mars 2024

Lovely staff in the bar and at reception. Food top notch. Room spacious and clean. Couldn't ask for more for a weekend stopover in Newark. This hotel is situated right in town so walking distance to all shops and bars. Will definitely be back, thank you Deincourt Team!

"Don't bother looking at website"
Go48381294872, 14 Novembre 2023

My wife booked Sunday lunch for 13:30 for 4 people by email. Received email confirmation. Later received email stating lunch not possible as chef only there from 18:00. Asked why website was advertising Sunday lunches earlier received the reply that that was before Covid and that the website needed updating. What a lazy Company!

"Nice Weekend "
BARRY G, 06 Novembre 2023

Stayed for 2 nights as we had a wedding to go nearby. Excellent stay staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean and warm , Would stay again if we were in the area . Not far from the town square and parking at the hotel was no problem and free

"Deincourt Hotel. Newark-on-Trent"
Mike B, 24 Septembre 2023

Very convenient location and good parking. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Liked the early breakfast. Comfortable, spacious and clean room. Easy access to the National Space Centre at Leicester and the Civil War Museum is impressive.

"Home from home"
Rosanna B, 14 Août 2023

What a wonderful home from home this lovely hotel is - so welcoming, warm and friendly. Already got two more trips back planned! The breakfast was cooked to order and was outstanding. The evening food was fresh and scrummy too. The bed linen was air dried, which is a rare and wonderful thing. The rooms were sparkling clean. If someone did find a fault they would only have had to ask anyone in the team to put it right - I feel a bit upset about one or two of the reviews because it is really special and delightful and nothing is too much trouble for the most excellent staff.

"Terrible."
Weekender123456, 14 Août 2023

Booked 2 nights through booking.com as a couple while visiting friends in the area. Arrived and waited over 5 minutes in the deserted, dirty and stale smelling reception area for someone to appear to book us in. Arrived at our room which was also dirty, dusty and stale smelling. Bathroom was dank and smelt. Didn't look like it had been cleaned in quite a while! Roughly 6 sheets of toilet roll with no spare roll anywhere to be found, empty shower wash dispenser, no working bulb in toilet area and no window so no natural light to help the situation. Wasn't brave enough to use the shower cubicle so can't comment on that! Very noisy night, guests in and out of the doors and up and down the stairs. Breakfast was sparse, two pieces of bread left to make your own toast with, no orange juice and was told they'd run out with no apology, cooked breakfast was cold and inedible, pain au chocolat so dry and stale it couldn't be swallowed. Staff wandered around in dirty mismatched clothes not seeming to care and we didn't see them smile once. Not a pleasant experience at all. Decided to check out and pay to go to another hotel for the second night. Receptionist's reply to telling her we were checking out early was “ok luv”! No question as to why we were leaving early, was everything ok or how was our stay! Terrible customer service! Paid £348 for two nights so we were astounded at the poor quality of everything! Would never stay there again or recommend it. Horrible and costly experience all round!

"Very pleasant experience!"
Wheelercg, 26 Juillet 2023

What a wonderful hotel this is. My daughter used this venue for her wedding reception, upon arriving the function room was decorated beautifully. The staff were were very attentive and the food was fantastic. (We had a hog roast) which was outside but we knew this upon booking. We stayed the night in a comfortable and clean queen sized bedroom! Then had breakfast which was lovely too. Reading some previous reviews I don't think these are fair as being the brides father I know she was offered different packages and different prices for these options, maybe the previous people didn't want to pay a little extra!

"Are you having a laugh Deincourt??? Smoking in the rooms is illegal you do know that right? Learn to apologise."
maidee79, 24 Juillet 2023

Arrived on the 27th of May for one night. There were no staff at the reception and I was checked in by a cleaning staff member. The first thing I noticed about my room was the strong smell of stale cigarettes which suggests smoking had been taking place in this room, I reached for the remotes as I wanted to watch Formula One and to my horror it was caked in dirt. I told the staff I wanted a room change and they spoke down to me and told me there were no rooms, and I was unlikely to find another hotel as there was a beer fest in town. I videoed the entire room and it was shocking . At the very least I expect cleanliness. I did not sleep in the covers of this hotel beds as I noticed a few hairs .I complained, and was told ‘we would speak to housekeeping “ I was not offered an apology. I woke up with a hoarse voice from the smoke in the atmosphere. I am not a smoker. I am bitterly bitterly disappointed by this hotel. They do not offer comfort or cleanliness .disgusting I would not recommend them to my worst enemy .

"Don't book function room"
531samantham, 20 Juillet 2023

Wedding reception here. The wedding was amazing but I felt for the bride and groom because of the experience. The room is too small, licence for 120 only had 50-60 there, people sat outside in the rain, even a 3 month old baby. Rude staff. Wouldn't recommend.

"Amazing Staff and service, Lovely newly refurbished room."
dpG8800EV, 30 Juin 2023

Great hotel! Great Staff! Great Food! Makes it a pleasure working away from home. I stayed in a newly refurbished room that was done tastefully and I'm sure the smell of fresh paint will disappear quickly but it did not bother me. Would 100% recommend the fish and chips from the Bar menu with a pint of Cromwell ale from the local brewery

"Tired hotel but brilliant service"
Dickie65, 02 Mai 2023

Stayed 2 nights as we were in Newark for a family wedding. Rooms were tired but spotless. Good shower with plenty of towels. We'd asked for a double/twin room for 2 and were given a family room so had loads of space. The only downside was that it was in the annex which was on the main road - so you could hear busy traffic outside from about 6am. Breakfast was cooked to order (you filled in a form with your breakfast choice and time and handed it into reception the night before) - once you were in the dining room, the breakfast came out within about 5-10 mins. During that time you could help yourself to tea/coffee, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast etc. Cooked breakfast was excellent - made with quality, local ingredients and it came out piping hot. The hotel was short staffed so if you wanted to have dinner there, you'd need to have made a reservation in advance - they couldn't accommodate walk-ins (even if you were a resident) on the day. Judging from the quality of the breakfast though, I'm sure dinner would have been good. However, the hotel was within walking distance (about 5 mins) of Newark where there were plenty of restaurants to choose from. The bar is manned during the day/evening (we had drinks before heading into town for dinner) - and when we came back from the wedding after midnight, the night manager/security guy got behind the bar and served us - nothing seemed too much trouble. All in all, we had a good couple of nights at The Deincourt, made all the better by the great service.

"5* stay"
Olivia D, 24 Avril 2023

The hotel is in a brilliant location. Rooms are lovely and clean. We had a meal in the restaurant it was superb and the staff are all friendly and helpful. Cant recommend this hotel enough. Thank you Deincourt Hotel will definitely be staying again!

"Great stay!"
shanes870, 08 Décembre 2022

Stopping in Newark on business decided to stay here. Can't fault it although the rooms are tired they are comfortable and fit for purpose. The food is great offering plenty of different options. The staff are very attentive and always willing to go that extra mile. Would stay here again!

"Smelly room uncomfortable mattress"
718admin, 13 Octobre 2022

Room was tired - not a problem however the bed was uncomfortable - woke up multiple times to shift position of a bed spring. As soon as you stepped into the room it smelt dirty and of old sweat. In this day and age and for the price charged this is totally unacceptable The bathroom was clean and smelt far fresher than the bedroom. Shower was ok but ended up standing in several inches of water. Room lighting was limited.

"Avoid"
Mike H, 30 Septembre 2022

Very poor standard of rooms. For the same price I could have stayed at a bright, modern premiere in down the road. Best Western need to have a serious look at their investment in property and upgrade.

"First weekend in Newark"
JDA_uk, 24 Août 2022

My partner and me were looking for a central hotel for my first fishing trip(s) in the area and a night out over a weekend. This hotel was ideal for what we needed, providing onsite parking and a cooked takeaway breakfast at 6:30am. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating and it was them that really made the hotel so welcoming. They also really added to the character and feel of it. We didn't try the food at the hotel, but did start and end the evening from the nicely decorated bar area, we could of easily stayed there all evening but wanted to explore.

"Terrible! Avoid if possible"
Scott G, 22 Août 2022

Terrible! Dated hotel, grubby and smelly. Stayed here on business and we were advised not to eat here, you pass the kitchen on route to the bar area it did not look clean. Corridors smelt musty, parking is limited and to be honest I wouldn't trust the car to be there in the morning. Beds hard and uncomfortable!

"Fantastic Staff"
dpG8800EV, 17 Juin 2022

Had a stay in Newark for 3 nights and chose this Hotel over the overs in the area and pleased we did. The staff could not do enough for us and the food was fantastic. Nice bar to sit in and a lovely beer garden at the back with a good selection of real ale which was a nice surprise. Rooms were clean and well presented and a fantastic shower and fluffy white towels. An absolute must if you come to Newark as we had friends staying at an other hotel in Newark and they ended up joining us for Breakfast at our Hotel.

"Dated and smelly."
ChrisBLeeds, 24 Mai 2022

Dated, run down building, damp type smells in the corridor's. Room was dirty, the toilet seat area had not been wiped down from the previous guest. Only had toast and some cereal for breaky so can't pass comment on that, did not use my business allowance in the restaurant as value my insides.

"Avoid "
Tracey H, 23 Mai 2022

O very very poor breakfast rubbish bedding poor main meal poor not very clean at all won't be going back the hotel smelled foisty could do with a good make over staff were ok but not professionally presented saw the cook in the kitchen no apron waiter's no apron avoid If you can

"Not for me "
Jeanfroj, 23 Mai 2022

First impressions not good, expected more from Best Western (obviously this is a franchise) staff pleasant enough had to wait for our room because it wasn't ready “we were full yesterday “ ermm I don't think so, room was clean enough (or so I thought) sheets and towels nice and white, bed mattress pillows were rubbish, hardly slept at all, bar meal on the evening , well! Ordered Cajun chicken with sweet chilli baguette, a warmed bagette with a pack of £1 Bernard Mathew (not knocking BM) chicken drowned in Sweet chilli sauce, (I like my chilli sauce but blummin heck!) we had to order Breakfast the night before , apparently so they could cook it then and dish it up in the morning , no one asked “is everything ok ? “ I wonder why . Then the piste de resistance! I found this in the bathroom (note the pic the mind boggles) needless to say we won't be going back!

"Basic to say the least"
Markieg190, 01 Mai 2022

Where do I start. Hotel is comfortable. The continental breakfast minimal I had to go around other tables to get sugar for cereals and pastries are about 2 inch square. There was a massive domestic argument next room and in the corridors for nearly 4 hours hotel staff did nothing not even phone police to sort it out so no sleep that night. Reception lady real nice that was a bonus

"48 for 48"
Chris_Shilliam, 28 Mars 2022

We took advantage of this offer and picked Newark as we didnt want a long drive and hadnt been there before. The hotel is a typical BW 3 star hotel so dont expect luxury.Everything was ok and good value.Drinks and food were reasonably priced with a fair selection. We probably had the worst positioned room in the hotel(32) as it was next to a busy road. However it didnt bother us but others may complain. The hotel is a short walk to town and in a good position and easy to find..We would stay again if we had to go to Newark. We are also fans of the Blue Monkey brewery and they have a pub in town!

"Fabulous for one's and two's or family's"

"Very Pleasant Stay, friendly helpful staff"
PatrickP287, 22 Janvier 2022

Stayed two nights in what we discovered was the converted Nurses home of the old Newark Hospital. The room we had with a Kingsize bed was excellent comfortable and nice and warm. The step down into the ensuite might be tricky for anyone with mobility problems . However, the staff from reception to the bar and Restaurant could not have been more helpful and friendly. We hope to return later in the year.

"Ok ish."
louisse, 05 Janvier 2022

Room was ok, clean but dated. Had to wait a long time for someone to check us in though. The breakfast was dreadful. Instant coffee , with water from an urn . The breakfast order was taken the night before and I think they cooked it the night before. Good location but we won't return.

"Poor service"
kayandstuart, 28 Novembre 2021

Hotel not to a good standard, was told ALL family rooms "were on an accessible GROUND FLOOR LEVEL" in fact there were steps up to the room... over charged for food and staff argued that children were infact adults (8&10) WOULDNT BIOK THERE AGAIN!

"wedding evening meal"
lin w, 21 Novembre 2021

We chose the breakfast room in August for my stepsons wedding meal as there were only about 30 people coming. January the Manager was lovely and so so helpful. The room itself was lovely, the tables looked beautiful and the pretty outside courtyard garden was an added bonus. The food was amazing, we opted for a 3 course roast dinner, it was lovely, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. there was good choice for vegetarians too. I would definitely recommend the restaurant !

"A poor reflection on a well-known brand"
538sueos, 11 Novembre 2021

Location was perfect for us and initial impression of this Victorian building was good. However, the room we were allocated in the annexe had a lot to be desired. I can forgive a drab interior needing a lick of paint, but I am totally unforgiving where cleanliness is concerned. The bed linen has seen better days, the pillows need to be replaced, the mattress topper was stained as was the mattress. Skirting boards around the bed are dirty and there is dust around the mattress and valance. Totally unacceptable, particularly during Covid when hygiene should be the top priority. Staff are friendly but in short supply. Breakfast for my husband was adequate, but as a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs, my cooked breakfast was half the size of my husband's for the same price and luke warm. I won't be making a repeat visit.

"Definitely average"
properjob929, 15 Octobre 2021

A few days spent at this hotel was rather disappointing. The overall impression was of a somewhat drab decor and furnishings and a considerable lack of staff. The room was reasonably comfortable and the bed and bathroom fine. Dinner on the first night was good if a little slow arriving and was well priced. Staff were friendly, but just too few. The lunch menu was in the room and we decided to have lunch at the hotel on the first day. We were less than pleased when we were told that "We do not serve lunch". No mention of this when making the booking and the menu still in the room. No doubt the hotel has suffered from post covid staff difficulties, but it is no excuse for withdrawing facilities without due notice to guests.

"Amazing Hotel"
barryfS2048DX, 30 Septembre 2021

The owner and staff are amazing. You are made to feel welcome from the second you walk through the door. The bar and restaurant are fantastic with a great choice of food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The rooms are clean and tidy and the beds are comfortable. It's like home from home

"well looked after"
SHAUNYB43, 30 Septembre 2021

Excellent hotel, foods great a good choice which changes regularly, staff look after you sorting anything you need nothing a problem I stay here regularly when I'm working in the area. staff are very friendly and the bar is great selling a good choice beverages to choose from, always have a great stay.

"Nice Hotel"
trevorjH4618OW, 30 Septembre 2021

Great staff and good food at a good price and a nice pint of real ale. Clean and tidy in all areas. Nice beer garden at the back. Plenty of parking free of charge and quality free WiFi in all areas of the hotel

I had a really lovely time at deintcourt hotel for my friend daughters wedding. we had a lovely meal the night before the wedding the wedding and reception was excellent. Great and friendly team of worker. manger and her team go above and beyond.

"Stay"
sarahelsie, 30 Septembre 2021

Stayed here for 3 nights bed & breakfast very comfortable beds room was clean, staff was helpful food was very good, had evening meal there to lots to choose from on menu, will stay again for sure, thank you

"Lovely Hotel in the heart of Newark"
dpG8800EV, 17 Septembre 2021

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights bed breakfast and evening meal. The food was of a very high standard and the staff could not do enough for us. Nice double room cleaned well with a lovely clean smell about it. Nice bar downstairs offering local ales as well as branded. Would defiantly stay again.

"Just demoralising"
Roam56499920893, 11 Septembre 2021

Booked single room at last minute - running short of options. Met with institutionalised smell and grubby carpets. Room & decor was Life on Mars only so much smaller. Left with no refund and checked in somewhere else. Would've slept in the car

"Dire, booked one night - didn't stay"
AlanandGill, 06 Août 2021

We booked this Best Western, as we've stayed in them before around the country, however this was bad. The staff were polite and helpful, however at first we'd been given a third floor room with no lift, with mobility problems said no. We were then offered a family room, at £17 more, ok we'll take that, dreadful room. As soon as we opened the door, the first smell was stale smoke, it was the same stale smell of smoke there used to be in a tap room at a pub, that was first, then the beds and bedding, I have seen more appealing bedroom furniture in some barracks, plus the bedding carried the stale smell, to say we were shocked was an understatement. Went for a walk into Newark, during which we decided we weren't stopping there, this hotel lets Newark down as well as Best Western

"Letting down Newark"
Jake K, 26 Juillet 2021

Unclean room, no way to contact front desk with noise above all night and no-one there when I checked out. £75 a night for a hotel experience that was more like a hostel. Bad advert for the town especially when it's struggling to come back from Covid-19. Placing no blame on staff who I can imagine are overstretched and doing their best. Assuming this is a management or systematic problem. Either way, I'll be staying with Premier Inn in future and happily paying more with peace of mind that I'll have a clean room and a good night's sleep.

"Absolutely Dire - Booked two Nights, but only stayed one!!"
N7582XKjoyceg, 16 Juin 2021

Staff very helpful, plenty of hot water, frontage and reception presentable, but alas that is where it ends. We were allocated a ground floor room in an adjacent annexe, this being a very uninviting Victorian building, albeit with correct fire safety etc. The small room (38) was accessed under the fire escape, near a rat bait station! The room only had space for one chair, which meant taking it in turns to sit down. Both bedroom and bathroom had windows that were easily opened, however the bedroom window if left open would eliminate security and the bathroom window when opened comprised privacy, being in view of passers by and property opposite. There was a lot of noise from the room above and from the adjacent room, which made us wonder if it was used for accommodating vulnerable people. As regards food etc, breakfast was reasonable quality, even though the toast was inedible and beverages were in paper cups. We had steak for our evening meal at a supplement that was acceptable. The dessert (raspberry cheesecake) resembled a quarter of a jam tart with the ice cream option which contained lumps of ice. The beer ‘Cromwell' was of an inferior quality, of which some was left, on further research it was brewed on a home brew basis. We have stayed over the years in numerous Best Western branded hotels, both in Europe and USA. We chose a Best Western hotel because they are usually of a reasonable standard. However we found this was an exception to the rule at this hotel, and wonder when it was last inspected by Best Western (which room was inspected).

"Budget comfort"
varneetshukla, 21 Novembre 2020

Nice little hotel in Newark fitted with most daily requirements. Quite, calm and filled with helpful staff all around. I will be using this for a few more trips until Christmas so this will be me second home for a while.

"Went for a funeral"
234debsb, 15 Novembre 2020

Stayed at deincourt hotel Newark on trent for 2 nights attending a family funeral The staff where excellent very attentive nothing to much trouble The food was excellent breakfast and dinner good stocked bar will return when lockdown is over

"Business trip"
Philip M, 01 Août 2020

Another stay at the Deincourt and as usual a pleasant relaxing trip for work. The rooms were standard but they do the job required. The breakfast area was relaxing and quiet with plenty of choice for everyone.

"Nice to be welcomed at the Deincourt Hotel in these strange Covid-19 times"
IMH-Sussex, 12 Juillet 2020

The hotel was open with full breakfast available and full evening meal menu being served. The hotel staff were welcoming and the safety precautions taken were exemplary. I would recommend this hotel in thse difficult times and support it as they are providing a vital, well organised service in these difficult times.

"Very nice hotel"
098dc, 04 Juin 2020

Staff were friendly and welcoming Assisted with anything that I needed Food was very nice and quick service Rooms were clean and tidy had everything I needed Will defiantly recommend this hotel for any one

"Fantastic Staff"
Scousems, 10 Mai 2020

If a hotel is as only as good as its staff well this hotel deserves to win an award at Hospitality of the year. Nothing's an inconvenience no matter how small. I'd rather stay here again as opposed to some of the other more upmarket ones, the ones with condescending staff. I definitely recommend this place to one and all

"Poor, poor, poor"
Tyke55500000, 29 Mars 2020

l booked and pre-paid a single night at the Deincourt, but due to the recent outbreak of Covid-19. I called the hotel and asked to cancel my booking, however I was informed that the booking could not be cancelled but they would allow me to move my booking as long as it was booked before the end of the year. I understand the uncertainty that this Pandemic has caused, but moving forwards this is not the greatest PR for Best Western and I know I'll never book another Best Western hotel based on this experience. Poor show Deincourt!!!

"Night in Newark"
Darren W, 04 Février 2020

3 star hotel near centre of this small town; 5 mins in taxi from railway station. Good choice in restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms a good size, clean and furnished to an OK standard

"Budget Hotel = Budget Sleep"
ChrisD398, 28 Janvier 2020

We stayed here for 1 night, arrived around 10pm and went straight to our room. We had room 29, it appeared worn but clean. As we got our heads down we discovered two things. The noise from the road next to the ill fitting wooden window was loud, it began to die down around midnight and started again at 6am. If you want to sleep then I would not recommend this room. The extractor fan for the shower flapped all night and kept us awake as well. At breakfast the staff thought we were in a different room to the one we were in, as we'd paid a little more I'm not sure where we should have slept.

"Not the greatest"
Angela S, 31 Décembre 2019

Spent two nights here on the weekend between Christmas and New Year to attend a wedding in the area. Staff were lovely, but rooms were tired left a lot to be desired in both small size and facilities provided, given the Best Western label. There was an overall musty smell in the place, and the plughole in our en suite sink smelled very stale. The wardrobe was basically an inbuilt cupboard (with tea making facilities in the other side of it!) that would only take coathangers at an angle as it wasn't wide enough. Also breakfast was piping hot and freshly cooked, but used a lot of oil that at times seemed to have burned onto the pan giving the bacon etc a blackened appearance. Was disappointed overall.

"Overnight stay on business"
Iain H, 07 Décembre 2019

Spent the night in the hotel whilst working in the area. I'd say an old hotel with an older decor but have to say the place was clean and tidy with good facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar was great for a few drinks prior to a easy 10-15min walk into the town centre. The full English breakfast the following morning was great. As s hotel to just spend the night in its great. Room was ok size with a large bathroom. Very warm though.

"Brilliant stay as always at deincourt"
Rachel B, 26 Novembre 2019

Lovely staff, great room will be back next year for our girly weekend in newark. We love this hotel, great location plenty of car parking space. Friendly staff always very helpful, we have stayed here 3 times now. 10 mins walk into town great location.

"Staying at The Bentley Hotel, Lincoln"
neilrichardmartin8, 25 Novembre 2019

I have stayed at The Bentley Spa Hotel in Lincoln for the majority of the last 5 weeks whilst working an interim role in the area. They deliver a great service, I have had a comfortable stay, and have had some tasty meals. Highly recommended.

"A few nights away "
humphriessue9, 29 Octobre 2019

Booked this hotel as we have stayed at Best Western hotels before, and being in Newark on Trent we were between Nottingham and Lincoln it was perfect for us. We booked a King room and although the bed was Kingsize the room wasn't. Our room was on the 1st floor in the annex which has no lift so had to carry everything up and down the stairs. Breakfast is really fresh and plenty to choose from. Had 2 evening meals in the restaurant both of which were lovely. Did go to sit in the bar but found it on the small side and rather noisy.

"Birthday dinner"
Paulene P, 16 Octobre 2019

My mother in law celebrated her 70th birthday, recently, by having a family/friend dinner. The meal was served efficiently and pleasantly, portions were very good with the staff very attentive and happy (always a bonus, last thing you want at a celebration is surly staff!). Management should be pleased with them.

"Great for the price"
suzyc514, 25 Septembre 2019

Needed to be in Newark for the night. Only about £35bb for a single room free parking and town centre. All staff friendly helpful and attentive. Standard best Western decor. Great value for money. Clean room Offered help with bags. Restaurant open late. Breakfast a good offering. Anyone not giving 5 stars needs to evaluate how much they are getting for a great price and seriously get over themselves.

"Tidy hotel with great staff"
Scott-ManchesterUK, 22 Août 2019

This hotel is a regular for me and my team. Always a good welcome, rooms are to a very high standard and the staff, food & beer are very top quality. A fridge in the room would be a key advantage to store cold drinks

"Very tired decor and old fashioned hotel but OK if you can get for a good price"
Footiemagpie, 16 Juillet 2019

We stayed for two nights over a weekend. There is free car parking, and the hotel is just 10 minutes walk into Newark town centre. We had booked a twin room but allocated a double on arrival - however the receptionist soon rectified this. We were placed on the top floor of the annex - this was in the roof of the building, with a small window, no air conditioning, and no lift - so we had to carry luggage up 2 flights of steep stairs. If you aren't able to do this, you will need to ask to be on a ground floor. The breakfast choice is good, freshly cooked and you can order whatever you want. However, the breakfast room is old fashioned and could do with a bit of a decorate. The staff are very friendly. The hotel itself is just old and needs a bit of a makeover. It was clean, however, and I would use it again if I got it at a reasonable price - we got a twin for £100 a night including breakfast which we didn't think was bad. If you're just looking for a room for business, and aren't planning on spending too much time in the hotel, then it's OK.

"A bit tired, but OK"
David J, 15 Juillet 2019

Stayed on business so couldn't really complain. Room perfectly adequate but a bit tired; no air con and WiFi interminable. The restaurant was OK, I guess. The food nicely cooked and waiting staff friendly. However, had a bit of plastic wrapping in my dessert. Waitress apologised and went to inform chef; nothing else in the way of explanation or apology which is a poor show in my opinion.

"Superb Customer Service & Excellent Prices"
DigitalGirl01, 14 Juillet 2019

I recently stayed at this hotel for the second time and was just as impressed as my first visit. Located a short walk from Newark centre, the hotel has a bar, lovely garden and the rooms are more than adequate. The best thing about this hotel are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they are all very friendly and helpful and are always smiling! All the staff here exude genuine warmth and seem to really care about their guests. A special mention must go to the lovely Gail on reception for all her help. On my previous stay I had stayed in a rather small room so requested a larger one with less exposure to traffic noise on this second trip. They booked me into room 11 which was great. A very comfy bed with large bathroom (and bath) and plenty of toiletries and tea/coffee. I had dinner here one night which was excellent (burger and fries and cooked to perfection) and the breakfasts are always good. I love this hotel and will definitely book again next time I am in Newark or the surrounding areas as its excellent value for money with simply amazing service.

"Nice hotel close to town"
Pinkertonx, 12 Juillet 2019

The hotel is on a main road into town, which is about a 10-minute walk. We always ask for a quiet room so noise is not an issue, particularly in the summer when the windows are open. We had a good-sized room on 1st floor with all necessary amenities and a decent shower room. Downstairs is a cosy bar with 3 real ales and a large dining room. Arriving on a Sunday after a hearty lunch we decided on eating in the hotel and our choice of tuna salad niçoise was excellent. Washed down with a couple of well-needed Adnams Ghost Ship ale. We then walked into town for an hour's break then returned for coffee in the bar. Breakfast was rather limited – no fish – but my omelette was freshly cooked and very enjoyable. Without exception all the staff were friendly and welcoming.

"Convenient to Newark Town"
Jeffery N C, 09 Juillet 2019

A very interesting town within a few minutes walk. Try not to have a room facing the road. A very good breakfast . We were in the annexe which was a little old fashioned and with steep stairs and no lift.

"Not good"
Dean444, 04 Juillet 2019

Very poor accommodation very dated and didn't feel clean. Carpets and bedding have seen better days. Wifi good. Woken at 1pm by rowdy guests singing in the bar. Food average and very limited menu. Not a good stay.

"Not up to scratch."
bigsteve1970, 25 Juin 2019

Really very average for a Best Western. The place is really tired and needs a serious amount of TLC. 80s decor. Small breakfast. Old sheets and duvet. No toilet roll in room. Had to take a credit card imprint despite a corporate bill back booking. Semi derelict building next door. Car park could do with a few pit holes filling in. Tired very tired. Friendly staff however.

"Great Location"
TROLLEYDOLLY69, 28 Mai 2019

Excellent hotel, close to town. Stayed at this hotel for a family function that was being held there. Rooms are tastefully decorated and clean. Great power shower cubicle however bath towels need to be bigger too short and didn't cover appropriately and I'm an average size person. Reception, bar and breakfast staff all very pleasant, friendly and polite. Adequate parking. Breakfast, dining room and bar are all lovely areas.

"Appearances can be deceptive"
WaivedWife, 22 Mai 2019

Stayed for one night and were a little apprehensive given the derelict building next door and the shabby signs for the restaurant at the front. Although we arrived in the early afternoon, we were allocated a ground floor room in the annexe which was perfectly clean and comfortable though the furnishings are a little dated. Really wish we'd been given the option of a room in the main hotel which was a complete surprise when we went through for breakfast: spacious, modern and light! Really friendly staff and delicious breakfast.

"Great stopover"
Bill M, 20 Mai 2019

Driven past Newark many many times but stopped off on our journey back from Stansted to the Scottish Borders as we had had a long day Room was nice small but spotlessly clean and a comfy bed breakfast was excellent and the staff were all very very friendly and helpful It's really true that a smile goes a long way to making one feel welcome and there were smiles a plenty We will use this as stopover in future as the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the market place which has a great selection of pubs and eating places Plenty onsite safe parking which is a bonus

"Average at best, but food was very good"
Tangsoored_11, 03 Mai 2019

Stayed in Newark for business reasons, and I have a bit of a mixed review for this hotel. The good, food in restaurant was very good, plenty of it, piping hot , tasty and great service from the staff and highly recommend. The ok, the rooms are a bit spread about and buildings are showing there age, it generally looks like they have spent some money on the rooms and they are well decorated. The bad, the most important part of hotel stay has to be the bed, and here they let themselves down big time, these are probably the cheapest most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept on. Even through the duvet cover you can feel the springs, so not great. Please invest in the mattresses as this is not the place to try and save.

"Pleasant stay"
Amyghosthunter, 14 Avril 2019

We stayed at the Best Weston hotel in Newark-on-Trent , it was a really pleasant stay, the staff were nice and polite, the hotel it's self was clean and the restaurant was really clean too , the service was great and the food was very nice, we couldn't find any fault, we will be back in the future.

"Brief stop in Newark-on-Trent"
dbggbww, 03 Avril 2019

One of my favorite hotels with very friendly and helpful staff and owners This feels like a home away from home. The only fly in the ointment on this occasion was the amount of construction happening on the road directly outside of my room, otherwise another great experience

"This poor sad hotel"
938BrendaT, 24 Mars 2019

I can only reiterate what others have said. The staff were lovely and the food was good, hot and well cooked. But that's where it ends. No good for the elderly or disabled. Our booked room was up several flights of stairs which I could not climb so the receptionist kindly put us in a family room on the ground floor. I can only think that it wasn't expected to be used as it did not look to have been recently cleaned. Very dusty and musty with a stale smell. Cups with lipstick and tea stains on them. Pillows so old they were lumpy and flat. The "walk in wardrobe" (understairs cupboard) hadn't been cleaned for years. The floor was filthy and it smelled awful. The lethal duck board in the bathroom is so slippery when wet it's a death trap. The pipes being so old are very noisy and being partly under the stairs there was the constant thump of feet. The worst of all came at 5.30 a.m. when the guest above us came in after a party and started slamming doors. That was the end of any sleep. I don't think I've ever been more pleased to leave a hotel. So sad because the staff and chefs are trying really hard.

"Fantastic staff - superb food. What's not to like?"
andy k, 23 Mars 2019

Well, if you've watched Fawlty Towers, this place is the polar opposite! The staff are superb, they cannot do enough for you at any level, always ready to serve you and friendly and engaging. The food is magnificent as well - the rib eye steak was unbelievable! It's an old building so you have to live with bedrooms that reflect this, but it's the service and staff that make any stay welcoming, and the owners and staff go well beyond the extra mile! I was working in the area with a few others from our company at a show and the way we were catered for will ensure we will be back next year and well beyond!

"The best Receptionist! Very helpful and personable. Much appreciated!"
HertfordshireToni, 04 Mars 2019

Nice, clean room, good breakfast and my second stay at this hotel. Very convenient for Newark town centre (only a 7 minute walk). Really good customer service from Reception who booked a taxi, advised on parking and travel routes around the current roadworks.

"Would recommend "
skybluesSteve, 12 Février 2019

Staff were first class. 1 night stopover for work, great value for money £56 b&b. Double room on first floor, yes dated but spotlessly clean. Had a drink at the bar, staff and atmosphere were good - breakfast was also good. Hotel is a short walk into town. Was able to watch Skysports main event on bedroom tv - good for us sports fans. Internet was free but was a little slow 8/10 Next tine working in area will return....

"Woeful"
jonathanh1608, 19 Janvier 2019

Bar full of foul mouthed drunkards room cold and small food mediocre Not worthy of being a Best Western Feel sorry for the staff .... they are nice and helpful but obviously have there hands tied Could be good if more Care was taken running it

"Great!"
Scenic796530, 19 Novembre 2018

The staff couldn't do enough for our large group. Extremely attentive, friendly and patient. Quiet and comfy room on first floor (Rm 12) with lovely spacious bathroom. Would visit again and would highly recommend for parties.

"Can't praise highly enough!"
CharlieDickens, 19 Novembre 2018

I rented the Cedar Suite at The Deincourt for a really special event, as well as booking a accommodation for three nights for myself a a number of good friends who had travelled from all other the world. Over 100 guests attended the event. I was liaising with the hotel team for approx 2 weeks on the run up and I have to say that they were so friendly, accommodating, patient, helpful and a real pleasure to deal with. Many of the guests who attended praised the hotel and its staff, service, food and drinks. It's quite deceiving from the road as you cannot really appreciate the space they have inside. The Cedar suite was well decorated - quite separate from the rest of the hotel so we really felt like we had our own space. The room opened out onto a pretty lawn and courtyard. For a 3 star hotel, I must say, having travelled and stayed in hotels for work all over the world, the Deincourt offers great value for money, comfort and good quality food and drinks, and wonderful service with a smile. I would recommend this hotel hands down and once again extend my thanks to the whole team for being such a pleasure to deal with. Best wishes.

"Very lovely and friendly hotel"
atlantaguei8, 19 Novembre 2018

I visited the Victorian styled Deincourt Hotel for 2 nights and they provided an excellent service and were very welcoming too. They had a lovely function room in which included a bar, fairy lights, a garden and we were also able to decorate it with our own things such as photos, lights, balloons etc. I couldn't have thought of a better place to stay suitable to the occasion. There was good food, free WiFi, restaurant and a lounge/bar area too Thanks again Deincourt Hotel! I highly recommend!!

"Outdated, desperate need of renovations "
sohailr294, 14 Novembre 2018

I was given a room in the old nurses quarters, Which is a seperare building. The room was freezing, soon realising there is a fault with the heating. It took 2 and a half hours for someone to pop up as there were only 2 staff members working. Credit goes to the staff, staff are fantastic and is the only saving grace for this hotel. The duvets were stained so they also needed changing. It was obviously my food in the restaurant was microwaved, far too hot to have been done on a stove.

"Tiny room, not worthy of the price"
NeilRBBath, 29 Octobre 2018

For the price I paid I got the tiniest singe room that felt like something more akin to a student room in a house than a half decent hotel. Bed linen and pillows felt old and worn, horrible metal wardrobe, slow wi-fi. Nothing endeared me to the place, including the fact that the car park cost me £3 to say in overnight...of course when I checked in they said I could have a slip for the windscreen to avoid paying...but I had already paid by then! I thought breakfast was going to be the redeeming feature I until my eggs Benedict arrived. True there was an egg(singular) in it (The clue is in the name guys, it's called EGGS Benedict, not egg benedict) and some ham, but there any similarities ended. I post a photo to help others avoid this misleading disappointment. Needless to say should I need to return to Newark, I shall not be staying here.

"Do NOT except room 39"
Andy C, 09 Octobre 2018

What a great shame room 39 has resulted in a low score. Room 39 smelt of damp, my clothes the following morning smelt. Bathroom floor disgusting. The room has no natural ventilation. I'm not one for complaining and causing grief for hotel staff, HOWEVER, the hotel manager should stay in room 39 to see how bad it is. Bed mattress needs throwing away too. Lay on it to understand why. On a HUGE positive, the Reception, Bar staff, Resturant service was over whelming. Evening meal was SUPERB.

"Great hotel"
Gail P, 02 Octobre 2018

Great friendly atmosphere. Good size rooms. Excellent restaurant. Very warm welcome staff are great. Nothing is too much. Close to lovely market town centre with great old buildings and national civil war centre. Great place to stay.

"Dated and noisey"
kirstyre, 26 Septembre 2018

This hotel is very dated. My room was on the ground floor and next to the bar. People where in the bar till very late and it was extremely loud. I got no sleep, I refused to eat breakfast as the hotel was not in great condition. When I complained to the staff on check out, it took her a while to say sorry and said they would put a sign in the bar! Like that's going to work!! Still got charged full price. Terrible staff and terrible hotel.

"Possible one of the worst hotels of its class I have had the misfortune to stay in."
isaacgrhead, 19 Septembre 2018

I did not book this myself it was booked for me. 3+ stars on TripAdvisor. 3 star accommodation according to visit England. A work trip with limited time spent in the hotel. Functionality required only. As a 3 star hotel or 3+ on TripAdvisor poor doesn't do it justice. It is so dated it probably hasn't been updated since before I was born. It feels like prison. My student halls were of a higher quality. As a low cost hostel it would do fine. It would be equally suited as a venue for filming an 80s crime scene. I highly recommend avoiding.

"Tired"
Andy S, 10 Septembre 2018

Stayed in one of the out building side rooms and it was very dated. Smelt very shut up and only a single bed. Not somewhere I would recommend and won't be staying here again. Sadly this area is not served by good hotels.

"Really nice room and excellent staff"
Excursion720514, 07 Septembre 2018

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at Kelham Hall. Staff were so helpful when we arrived in a panic after being stuck in stand still traffic on the A1and had to be at the venue before 2pm. Taxi sorted and they even let us dump our overnight bags at reception for them to take to our room so we could leave straight after check in. Room was lovely with a very good shower and breakfast was nice.

"wedding"
June W, 02 Septembre 2018

we had a really good time at our friends wedding here stayed 2 nights. the staff were very attentive to all the guests and nothing was too much trouble. everything went like clockwork for the wedding once again thanks to the staff the food was good also . i would reccomend this hotel for any function

"Best?"
JD28, 28 Août 2018

Stayed at the western Deincourt recently and to be honest I wouldn't rush back. The front of house staff were very nice and helpful but sadly they haven't got the quality of facilities they need to be able to work effectively. Our room was ok but not very clean, even though the cleaning staff were very good at banging around in the morning. The communal areas needed a good clean as well. Small shower cubicle, small basin and a toilet which you needed to hold the seat up as it constantly tried to close!! Restaurant was good with fresh made soups and a decent selection of dishes. Ok place to stay but not worth the money.

"A Surprise once you are inside"
Doug T, 28 Août 2018

From outside you would think much as there are works going on to these old NHS buildings. But once in then you are rewarded with a polite welcome, staff are great, and rooms and food are just as good. Real Ale was a real hit. Comfortable and quiet.

"Great stay"
janiceelli0tt, 14 Août 2018

We stayed here for my nephews wedding (different location) The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean Our room had a fan which was needed. The hotel met all our needs. The restaurant and garden area were excellent. Good food in the evening and at breakfast. We'll worth the money.

"Avoid!!!!!"
kirstybee87, 12 Août 2018

This hotel needs a complete renovation. Beds are old and creaky (and tiny!), bedding and towels are scratchy and worn, furnishings are from the 70s. Not to mention the bizarre paint choices...! Our room was right under a staircase and all we could hear all night was people going up and down stairs. I will say that the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping staff are all doing an excellent job because the hotel is very clean and they were all friendly and helpful. It's clear the owner isn't putting any money into it at all.

"A disorganised rabbit warren"
Kapitivisitors, 30 Juillet 2018

Given it's associations and brand name, it was a mess. We had to travel with heavy suitcases up multiple flights of stairs, the bed was rock hard, the bathroom tiny and the room roasting hot with a fan that sounded louder than the trucks roaring past the only window. Laundry booked for one day was overlooked so we had to wait after checking out while they found it, and half was still wet. Dinner was OK, breakfast OK too, but service the first day was non-existent as staff were too busy replacing boxes of cereal. If you are hankering for 70's retro hotels, this is a sure thing.

"No value for price- find another place"
deborahnan, 22 Juillet 2018

Hotel room small and shabbily fitted- reasonably clean( only thing I can say makes this 2 stars vs 1)- VERY hot with windows that only open half way- loud fan provided- window opened to courtyard and a club playing awful music until after 12am. The extortionate price for this room did not even include breakfast- if cheaper and rated lower it would be ok. Also the trip advisor price through their service was £20 higher than the hotel's rate for the room!!! That is quite a commission! Don't bother find somewhere else and book directly.

"Time warp hotel..."
Coonan M, 20 Juillet 2018

Poor hotel by best western standard.. room are small old and out dated. WiFi is none existence and would drive you around twist as it so slow if you need to use it. Breakfast is a poor. Most of the staff are friendly but one lady was quite rude on checkout when she could issue me a receipt for my stay.. Over all 1*

"Resist the near-monopoly on Newark hotels and go somewhere else"
civertson, 04 Juillet 2018

This hotel has decided to stay in the 80s or thereabouts, simply because there are almost no competing hotels in Newark. My room was cold due to a drafty window that also couldn't keep any noise out whatsoever, the fuse for my room randomly popped and staff took 15 minutes to fix it, breakfast is nowhere near what I've had at other Best Westerns (which in itself isn't much of a high water mark, truth be told). A special treat for us business travellers also - if you want to iron your shirts, you have to trek outside to the laundry room in a separate building. A pity star was awarded for the location.

"Comfortable and friendly"
Andy R, 04 Juin 2018

We spent two nights here last week for my son's wedding in the town. Staff are very friendly (especially at breakfast!) and the bar is 24 hrs (not that we took advantage)! Our room was a bit small but clean and comfortable with en suite and tea & coffee in the room. Good location as you can walk into town in 10mins which is quicker than by car due to horrendous roadworks and diversions. Would stay here again..

"Mini Mid. Week"
Ian C, 03 Juin 2018

This was my First stay anywhere spending tesco vouchers. The hotel inside was very nice, all area's very clean, staff very friendly. The two brackfasts we had were 5* , the one extra evening meal was a little expencive but worth the money. As i was staying with my disabled Mum we had to have a room on the ground floor of an annex, this was a little inconvenient, the double bed was fine, the room clean & tidy, But there were no disabled facilities, for my Mum to use the Toilet in the bathroom, ie no hand rails, or frame to have , i did ask at recepion.. I would have thought they would have made sure of this when i told them i was booking & my Mum was disabled... As for the rest of the stay . A Good location & a nice place to stay. can't say about the rooms inside the main hotel as i was in an annex. Cheers Ian.C.

"Pleasure"
Gina c, 27 Mai 2018

Stayed for 2 nights, staff friendly but room awful. Stayed in annex ground floor situated under a fire escape. No double glazing and a bit of wood with” to hold window open” written on it to hold open an ancient sash window. Very dark room with shabby net curtains in place. Worst best western I have stayed in an if I didn't have a loyalty card it would have cost 110 to stay there per night without breakfast. Room worth 60 at most. I can only presume, because of the lack of competition in Newalk they manage to get away with it.

"My stay."
Rebecca R, 22 Mai 2018

We came here at the weekend for my best friends wedding. The hotel staff were loving and so helpful. The only downside is that some of the rooms are really tiny but it was fine to say we were just literally staying in the beds at night. We enjoyed our stay. Also I stayed in room no. 31 and if anyone has found a teddy it would be ours. Haha we need it back. Thank you

"Dein court"
chriswren2016, 21 Mai 2018

This is the best hotel i have ever stayed at all the staff were very friendly, polite and professional. They went above and beyond for my stay and couldnt believe my eyes with what they had done for my brother and sister inlaws wedding. I would definately come and visit again 5star rating for me everytime

"Wedding Party - fantastic week end "
Roy O, 21 Mai 2018

My niece got married on 19/5/18 and we stayed here for 2 nights 18/5 and 19/5 as the wedding was held here. Check in was quick and we got a slip to put in the car from reception as we parked in the overflow car park. My son and his girlfriend were in room 29 and we were in room 34 both in the annex part of the hotel. Both rooms were the same super king size beds big room and shower en suite - toiletries were provided in bathroom shampoo conditioner body cream and shower gel. The complimentary tea tray was good including 2 packs of nice biscuits. There was a shoe shine machine just inside the main annexe doors which was useful to polish up my shoes just as we were leaving for the wedding. Breakfast - good choice of food fresh fruit salad, yogurts, pastries, ham cheese, small boxed cereals, choice of fruit juices. On the Saturday we chose the hot breakfasts off a menu and on the Sunday it was laid out buffet style but the waitress took your egg order and brought it out then you just helped yourself to the hot food sausages bacon beans tomatoes hash browns fried bread - there was a toaster machine which you could use and a large basket of fresh sliced brown or white bread plus small jams and packs of butter or margarine. I can not fault the staff at this hotel they were all very helpful and friendly and they worked their socks off especially on the wedding day - the food was great both for the wedding main meal and Buffett at the night time was all fresh and tasty . The main room was fantastically decorated and the service was so efficient the staff are a credit to the hotel. Can't understand why people put such negative reviews we had the best time and would definitely stay here anytime we are in Newark ??

"Disappointing"
Frances H, 23 Avril 2018

The hotel on arrival had a board up with 'Funeral Wake' on it - as we were arriving to celebrate our friend's birthday we were a bit disconcerted! The receptionist then said that was from the day before. Not the most auspicious of welcomes! Our room was on the ground floor near the kitchen and bar with people outside our window smoking. The room was tired looking and in need of refurbishment. The bed was not very comfortable. The bar seats were faux leather which again gave a jaded appearance. The breakfast was disappointing with undercooked bacon and over cooked mushrooms. As it was only for one night it was bearable but would not recommend anyone staying here for pleasure. However the staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them.

"Best Avoided Western"
Dieppois, 09 Avril 2018

This hotel has an excellent location, being convenient to the major routes and the town centre. It is advertised as refurbished but no date is given. We were welcomed on arrival and the reception staff were helpfull. We dropped our bags in the good sized room and went into town. What could go wrong? On our return there was a horrible smell coming from the (small) bathroom. Clearly the plumbing wasn't part of the refurbishmnent. Then we realised part of the reason for the room looking a good size was that the King Size bed booked was actually a smaller standard double. The pillows had gone past their useby date. The cooked breakfast was good and served by friendly staff. Those wanting a Continental type breakfast could be disapppionted with the choices. We queried the bill on checkout and this resulted in an almost accusational attitude. The overcharge was removed and after we paid there was no thank you or even a goodbye. Overall, not a happy hotel.

"Midweek trip"
Jacqueline W, 16 Mars 2018

Had a lovely night here the staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was ordered of the menu so was fresh and hot. Rooms nice and cosy large bathroom really enjoyed our stay only about ten minutes walk to the town

"Not very good"
Sharon E, 26 Février 2018

This hotel could do with some much needed refurbishment. I've awarded 2 stars for the lovely receptionist and helpful team, the towels were good and the shower was excellent although it did need a thorough cleaning. The room was grubby with cobwebs and dust in the room and bathroom. The mattress was extremely hard which may work for some. I wouldn't stay here again.

"Avoid!"
Neal148, 21 Février 2018

I unexpectedly found myself in Newark and had to find a room for the night at 8pm. I came across the Deincourt and booked a room at a cost of £93 plus breakfast. The room was in the annex and to say it was tired and dirty is an understatement (see photos). I ate in the restaurant and the pork and apple pie turned out to be a bit of chopped roast pork with a slice of pastry on top. The vegetables were fine as long as you like your cabbage boiled for at least 40 minutes and reheated in the microwave. The breakfast was OK and the staff were pleasant enough. The hotel needs to be updated - a 1970s style leatherette sofa is not acceptable in 2018. As a Best Western Rewards member I have stayed in many Best Western hotels and this must rank as one of the worst and appalling value for money. Best Western is a franchise operation so I will write to the head office to suggest that this hotel is inspected as a matter of urgency - I don't believe it meets the brand standard. One final point - don't expect to check out early. Reception is not open until 7:30am and you can only hope that the hotels emails a receipt to you.

"Me"
Karen W, 19 Février 2018

Due to our visit in September we now reflect our thoughts about the accomodation provided underneath the beds after my partner looking for his key it looked like last year's dinner party was under it we did report this to reception as we booked for a week however no action was taken . Upon visiting the restaurant we found the food mediocre. After finding the manager she was sat at the bar drinking with local builders who occasionally Pop into the bar on the way home they were all loud and vulgar even though I tried to raise our issues with her I believe her name is January but not sure. I stopped at the bed and breakfast as I don't believe it to be a hotel as I was visiting my sister from Nottinghamshire as we had just lost our father however reception staff were very friendly. It's such a shame we found it run this way as we traveled back to Torquay staying in the best western at Paignton with exceptional facilities all round. It should be reported to York HQ were the base is .

"Fantastic stay"
Ann B, 19 Février 2018

Visiting family in Newark. Hotel was 3 star but Definitely worthy of one more. Room and bathroom imacculate. Bed and pillows very comfy and good facilities. Plenty of tea, coffee milk etc. Cosy and warm room. Breakfast, had a good choice and ours was very tasty. Great discount on breakfast for booking when we checked in, rather than paying on the morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again - highly recommend

"Few days away, taking in the races too"
Monkparkfarm6, 07 Février 2018

Had a great time in Newark, what a lovely Market town, the hotel was only 3* but the bar in it was small but nicely decorated also the small room attached for small functions was beautiful, our bedroom had a 6ft bed which was comfortable & an ensuite shower room in it, both were more than adequate for a 3 star hotel. The breakfast room was quite run down with chunks missing in the wall next to our table, the staff were all really friendly & helpful (which is why I have gave 4/5) but the breakfast was awful, we only had it on the first morning & didn't bother going down for the next 2 mornings, I had eggs benedict which came on toast with a mustard & butter sauce (unusual, it would normally be hollandaise) but it tasted disgusting, I think the breakfast chef had just got a massive spoonful of a very dark & cheap catering French mustard & chucked the lot on top of my food, I just couldn't eat it, it covered everything, my hubby's sausages were well over cooked to the point of being hard & tasted like cardboard, no complaints about the actual hotel & staff though, they were lovely but I won't be having breakfast there again unless the breakfast chef is retrained??. We didn't try any other meals at the hotel so we can't give an opinion on the food in general & the kitchen does have a Five star food hygiene rating. We would come back to this hotel but it would be on room only basis

Usual quick overnight stop . Easy to find in good location . Nice friendly welcome and free parking. Nice smallish room very clean and tidy. The bar area was nice with sky sports and a gain friendly staff reasonable price drinks and the bar food was a good standard and again good on prices. It has gone in my book of good hotels to stay .

Small family celebration for a 9Oth birthday. Staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful either in the planning or on the day. Very nice food and a nice bar to relax in. Nice to have table service in the bar. Great rooms and all reasonable in terms of price. Could not fault the hotel or the staff. Ian Palmer

"Family Party ????????"
mnicholls54, 06 Janvier 2018

Great Hotel. Professional helpful staff stayed in room 10 which was clean tidy & had everything needed for a pleasant stay. We were attending a family birthday & the buffet was perfect & the bar well stocked with fast service.

"Surprise 40th Birthday party in function room."
Joshua M, 06 Janvier 2018

Best party I've been to in a long while, due to an excellent venue and staff. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Plenty of food and variety for everyone. In house DJ provided a fun and excitable disco. With over 100 people attending the party, there was enough room for everyone to enjoy themselves, and enough food too. Overall an amazing night.

"Highly recommended."
Kay S, 02 Janvier 2018

Excellent staff, very friendly and professional. Check In was trouble free. Hotel in central location. Parking ok. Food was excellent. Great choice for breakfast and cooked perfectly. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"new years eve"
holly310, 01 Janvier 2018

well after reading the recent bad reviews we were considering whether to cancel our reservations but thought twice about it . we were a party of seven looking to spend the night celebrating nye at this hotel . well my opinion is ignore the bad reviews this is a nice place to stay . very good location with only about a 5 to 10 minute walk into town . check in was quick and efficient . we had rooms in the main building which had been refurbished very clean and adequate for what we needed. new years eve went with no hic cups a lovely buffet was laid on and a room decorated for the event with non stop bar service and a disco . . lovely attentive staff who would go the extra mile . made my grandson a sandwich and brought him ice cream upon request what a lovely gesture. room was very comfortable and breakfast a must very well cooked as much toast tea and coffee as u liked and several different breakfast items to chose from as well as a full English and if not included in the price of your room only 8.50 . lovely friendly helpful waitress who kept the dining room very clean and tidy . enjoyed our stay here so if you are thinking of giving it a try please do as you wont be disappointed x thank you Julie and tony Kelly part of the lupton party

"Enjoyable NYE, very good value for the money we paid "
Melanie L, 01 Janvier 2018

We have just come back from an overnight stay at the Deincourt Hotel. We spent NYE here with family, had a marvellous time. I can't praise the staff enough, they were so friendly, couldn't do enough for you, went that extra mile to please. Lovely buffet and disco for New Year's Eve. I have 1 slight gripe, the rooms are slightly dated but ours was nice and clean, cant grumble for what we paid, the main hotel is better than the annex. Breakfast was lovely too. The moaners who have left the bad reviews, if you are expecting 5* standards then stay in a 5* hotel. No problem with this hotel, I would go back for an overnight stay. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay enjoyable!

"kennel sized room"
evoNO1, 26 Décembre 2017

I stayed one night on 22nd December 2017, booking in was tiresome as the key card did not work 3 times , nice walk back to reception each time. The room was very small with an even smaller child size single bed (room 39). I booked room only for £51.00 for the night. The hotel is not far from the town centre and has all the amenities you would expect from a major chain. I would not stay there again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Sorry for the bad review but I can only comment on what I received..

"Fawlty Towers!!"
PhilgoodUk, 24 Décembre 2017

A pre Xmas visit to Newark thought a Best Western would be fine for a short stay but my god this place is dire!! I've stayed in so many hotels but this is the absolute worst!! Mattress on bed worn out the decor was dated and the room smelled musty.. In fact the main door was left open on the main kitchen to public corridor so the whole hotel smelt of old cooking oil! Restaurant and bar almost empty in the two days I stayed here..says it all really ??

"One night stay, with Husband on business"
Ian G, 22 Décembre 2017

Stayed one night as husband was on business. I checked in at 2pm whilst husband was at work. Room 7. Room was very small, cosy an understatement!!. Noted straight away carpet was dirty, with bits of fluff and dirt especially along the edges. The kettle was also dirty, grimmy even, I emptied the water out of it, and cleaned it up. Noted that the sink in the ensuite was also dirty around the taps and plug hole. The toilet bowl was also dirty. I almost felt like going back down to the reception and asking for some rubber gloves and the cleaner's trolley to clean the room properly. The edge of inside of window panes were black. The bed linen was well worn and had a 'smell'. The pillows were cheap, lumpy, thin. The room furniture was cheap and shabby...... Not chic!!! The whole hotel appeared shabby and dirty. Definitely NOT a Best Western. Could do with a complete make over,

"Filthy"
Steven K, 15 Décembre 2017

This was on a company Xmas party booking and we were in room 18 on the top floor Reception staff were very good during check in On entering the room it smelt like a sewerage, so we went out and purchased an air freshener, and then left it in the room for an hour. This didn't help so approached the reception staff who were very helpful if slightly embarrassed who promptly sent a very nice lady up with bleach and more air freshener. She was unable to locate the source of the smell although she said it was very unpleasant. After putting bleach in all orifices I jokingly said maybe someone left a poo in the bed to her. She then left the room and my partner pulled back the covers on he bed to unveil a number of brown light stains on the sheets (these weren't the cause of the smell) I promptly went down to reception and complained again, where once again they were very apologetic and told us the bedding would be changed while we were out. On returning to the room lter the bedding had been changed but the smell was still there, On other notes Bar staff and serving staff were excellent and the breakfast was very nice.

"Dirty bathroom . Filthy floor and dirty grimy shelf. They left a used toilet roll with 2 sheets left on the roll ??."
Michelle S, 05 Décembre 2017

Stained dirty carpets. Dressing table very grimey. Food awful. I feel sad as this was the company xmas party. Will not be booking this place again. The two receptionist are lovely and helpful. Sadly this doesnt make up for the shoddy rooms and food.

"Not the 'best' Best Western"
bandjclifford, 04 Décembre 2017

The positives first: The welcoming receptionist was efficient; The room was clean, as was the ensuite; The public rooms were bright and nicely decorated; The tea/coffee making facilities in room were generous; The young members of staff, serving a large party, were delightful on our first evening. Sadly, the negatives: The environs are scruffy and unwelcoming with derelict buildings adjacent to the car park; Room 19 was drab and so small that there was no room for a bedside cabinet one side of the bed - a semicircular shelf of about 30 cms diameter on a bracket was fixed in lieu; The ensuite was nearly as large as the bedroom! The wall to the adjoining room was so thin that you could hear all movements in it; We had dinner on the first evening of our stay and we were competing with a large party who had apparently came from outside. The 'mashed potato' looked as if had been watered down, a Yorkshire pudding was about the size of a jam tart, and the parsley sauce accompanying my wife's fish was so runny as to be tasteless; Breakfast was ok, but on our second morning a very small section of the dining room was allocated (probably only about 8 covers), and in between serving us, the waitress was moving chairs from one part of the dining room to another! When I settled the bill I was not asked if everything was satisfactory. Overall, what this hotel lacks is SERVICE! We have stayed at many hotels in this franchise, and the staff have always been very attentive. We did learn that Newark is very short of hotels and guest houses, and this may be why this hotel falls short of the usual BW standards. I hate writing negative comments (as my many previous reviews will show), but I really feel that improvement is needed at this establishment.

"Good location"
ChelleBrailey, 26 Novembre 2017

We booked a twin room for a Thursday night stay, hotel is great location wise being on a main road and only 10 mins into town for the shops, so we avoided trying to find somewhere to park all the time. There is a distinct lack of parking though for the amount of rooms, luckily the hotel shares another car park at the back, otherwise it would be a problem! We were put into a separate building on the top floor (2nd), there isn't a lift here, so whilst we were able to do the stairs, it is worth knowing (as we weren't told until we checked out), that all twin rooms are on the top floors. The room was decent size, having the eves take up half the room, it made it feel smaller and l could only comfortably walk on one side of the room. My friends bed was comfortable, mine however wasn't, the springs were felt when you laid down and made it a bit uncomfortable, but for 1 night it was bearable. The shower cubicle was good and clean and the shower itself lovely and powerful, it was nice to have toiletries available, however we had brought our own. The only criticism would be no toilet brush available. Breakfast choices were very good, various individual cereal boxes, fruit, pastries, porridge and cooked options, we both had full English and it was nice. Reception staff were friendly & helpful. I know the property is old although decoration is good, we probably wouldn't stay there again, had we been put into another room lower down, this review probably would've been more favourable.

"Just what I needed"
RustyArrow, 23 Novembre 2017

Book this for two night as was in the town and not to far show the show ground, I returned each night to a warm friendly clean hotel, food very good value and was fine, beer was excellent and very nicely priced which for hotel beer was a nice surprise. My room was very clean and warm, the staff at this hotel are excellent, nothing to much trouble and very friendly. I will be booking again without a doubt.

"Weekend away"
X2386OSpaul, 26 Octobre 2017

Ideally situated for anyone visiting Newark on Trent, far enough out of town to not be disturbed by late night revelers but only a five minute walk from the centre of town. The staff were very polite and helpful and although we ate out in town the first night the second night after walking most of the day we decided to take a chance on the food in the hotel. We didn't need to worry our meal was very good, well cooked and generous. Our room was in the annex, clean and tidy may be a little dated but that didn't bother us. The only downside was that the annex is close to a light controlled road junction on a busy road which was fine if you kept the window closed but we like fresh air. I am sure the rooms in the main building would be fine.

"Not the Best of Best Western"
Alan S, 21 Octobre 2017

Firstly some of the rooms are in an annex, access to these is across the driveway. The room/annex building smelt old and in need of updating although the room was clean. The beds however were not comfortable, the springing could be felt through the layers of material. The shower however was cramped but very powerful! Evening meals were adequate without being exciting and the breakfasts had a good balance of 'help yourself' buffet and from the menu. The staff were helpful and friendly, in fact the receptionist had turned the chore of room juggling into an art form it seemed!

"Excellent"
kel236, 08 Octobre 2017

Excellent service and great value for money on food and drink. Staff friendly and management excellent. Highly recommend the Sunday roast or chill in a relaxing atmosphere by the bar and chill watching sport

"A comfortable stay"
leannehowat, 20 Septembre 2017

We have 2 bedrooms booked over the course of the weekend - 1 double (2 nights) and 1 family (1 night) before a wedding at Kelham House. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who checked us in swiftly and directed us to our room in the annex. The bedroom was clean and tidy if not a little dated. We changed and headed to the bar for a G&T. The food was lovely and drink reasonably priced. On arrival back in our room we unfortunately had a leak from the room above, the hotel moved us in the main house swiftly and with no issue. The main house rooms are nicer and quieter. Our second room was also in the annex. Again the room was clean and tidy and very spacious. Our stay was nice and reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and food delicious.

"Friendly staff."
David M, 16 Septembre 2017

I had a small room in this hotel overnight as I was just passing through. The restaurant was fresh and clean. Good food and service. I will be passing again and will stay again. Thanks for sorting out the tv.

"Had a Lark in Newark."
spotbot1, 28 Août 2017

Booked this some time ago for a wedding as we were attending a friends wedding there. Free Parking was and is a bonus anywhere and it was here, a 10-15 wander into the lovely historic centre, location almost top marks, the staff were all exceptionally helpful and patient. Our Room 6 was at the back above the dining room, so quiet and cooler than most, a large fan was provided as it was a very warm day, the room was very clean and large with the usual desk come makeup station, 2 full height mirrors to please the Ladies, the ensuite was small but adequate with a large and powerful shower plus all the creams & gels you'd need, lastly a nice big comfy bed, breakfast was a vast array of cooked food etc and I saw some people eating lunch & it looked very nice I must say. So all in all top marks and the first place on my list should I return to Newark.

"Comfortable and clean"
Jane V, 28 Août 2017

There is a lack of hotel space in the area so the hotel was busy but that didn't affect our visit at all The young woman on reception was a delight - helpful, polite and very efficient as well as friendly - she even remembered why we had been visiting the area when we checked out. Rooms are clean, bathrooms big and they contain all you need for an overnight stay - parking at the front of the hotel was also much appreciated. Breakfast was good if a little muddled - they should have a note explaining that you need to order your eggs to get your plate for the buffet. The food was hot and plentiful, coffee service a little slow but we weren't in a hurry. I'm not sure I will ever be in the area again but if I was I would stay here

"Wonderful stay!"
urmantrude, 26 Août 2017

Could not fault this hotel. From the minute we walked through the door we were very impressed. All the staff were amazing and so nice. Room was spotless as was the dining room. Bed was really comfy. Had a great nights sleep! Breakfast was lovely. We would not hesitate to stay again. 10 out of ten for customer service. Receptionist was so helpful and was very knowledgable.

"Bargain price, good location, wonderful staff"
MarcusHurley, 15 Août 2017

I stayed here for work this week and arrived just after 2PM. There is a small car park at the side of the hotel and then a larger one at the back. Check in was pleasant and my room (number 5) was lovely - a good size, quiet, a four poster bed, nice bathroom and plenty of workspace. Wifi was good and there was a nice selection of drinks including squash sticks - never seen those before. I ate in the bar downstairs and the service was superb - every single person was helpful, attentive and friendly. The food was great too - generous portions and well presented. All in all this was a great stay and very good value, I am trying to engineer some more work in the area so I can go back :)

"Lovely overnight stay "
Ian K W, 10 Août 2017

Nicely greeted at reception by the staff I was further welcomed in the bar and dining areas before settling in for dinner and drinks Relaxing ambience quietly busy yet efficient the meal arrived and was well presented My room was cosy with tea making facilities and biscuits All in all I slept well and comfortably I am hoping to return as it was a delightful experience

"visiting with friends"
Marta K, 10 Août 2017

Lovely place to stay - stuff are extremely helpful, managers are very nice, any problems are solved immediately, rooms are clean and food was excellent. will stay again ! if you want quiet room just ask :)

"Total lack of sleep "
Tomlondon80, 07 Août 2017

I wasn't expecting much from this hotel and I was not disappointed. Everything about this hotel is lousy. My room (3) was located next to the hotel's 24hour bar - what a joy being kept awake by drinkers until about 1am - really useful when you have to work the next day. When I asked to move room the stressed and unhelpful receptionist told me they were fully booked - so they gave me a rubbish room even though I checked in at 520pm and saw people check in after me. I am fully aware it's a 3 star hotel and I was expecting basic. However I won't be staying here on my next visits as I value my sleep.

"Shoddy Hotel and service"
Ravenstone63, 03 Août 2017

Let me start by saying that my company pays for me to stay in various hotels around the country, as I'm not footing the bill I'm not inclined to complain. This hotel was an exception I was booked in for two nights, but checked out after one. When I arrived at the dinning room I asked the manageress if I could stay in the bar until my meal was ready, I didn't clearly hear her reply and asked her to repeat it, she answered in a peevish tone of voice. I didn't expect hotel staff to take such a tone but decided to let it go. I ordered a steak rare but when it arrived it was well done. At £18 a go this was not acceptable. The room was drab and tired looking, it had the feel of a bedsit rather than a hotel. The TV did not work when I pointed this out for the second time to the manageress she became quite snappy and ended up saying I could go and find another hotel if I didn't like it. As it was now 9 o'clock at night on a rainy night in Newark I told her not to be ridiculous. This was the last straw for me I cancelled the second night and went to stay with relatives who live in the area. This hotel has since been taken off the roster of hotels my company uses.

"1 night stay "
User, 30 Juillet 2017

Stayed for 1 night while attending a local wedding. Reception sorted us with an early check in which was great. Room clean tidy & warm. Staff friendly. Had to wait for breakfast items to be restocked but overall had a satisfactory stay

"Great staff bedroom nice but a little dated"
Sue G, 26 Juillet 2017

We were in one of the annex rooms, the bed was big and comfortable but the big downside was that we were right against the main road on a very busy junction. If at all possible get a room in the main building which sits a little back from the road. The breakfast was good, we had a full English. Glad we were only staying one night due to being in the annex.

"Training week"
justand2014, 22 Juillet 2017

I was in Newark on a trading week with work. I arrived quite late on Monday after a long hot day in the classroom the friendly staff had mine and my colleagues paperwork ready and our rooms ready. We went down to a very clean bar with plenty of choices from the bar and also an extensive menu. Must admit I thought the wait was a little long for the food after ordering but then after the second night realised this is due to everything being cook fresh. Breakfast is served with a friendly smile in a great room. During my stay I found the staffs attention to detail great. It was extremely hot during my stay. No air conditioning but a great fan. All I all I couldn't have asked for more. Would stay again.

"Ok for one night"
Jane62Essex, 21 Juillet 2017

We stayed here for one night to break our journey up to Whitby. The good points of this hotel is the bright, presentable breakfast room with adequate breakfast choice and also the short walk into town. We never tried the 24 hour bar. Unfortunately there are no good points we can give for our room (room 40). This is in a separate building from the main building and everything creaked about it! This room is on the ground floor so we had all the creaking from people on the floor above, creaking when they went up the stairs to their room and could even hear when they opened and shut their drawers! Our bed also creaked with every slight movement, which was awkward as it is pushed up against the wall. There was very little space in the room. The shower had no force and the light above the mirror didn't work, which didn't help when it was a windowless room. All in all it was not a comfortable stay but as it was only for one night, we didn't complain. Maybe other rooms were better???

"Try somewhere else"
Aidan O, 12 Juillet 2017

While the staff are friendly and helpful, the entire place is jaded and it could be a location for a 1950's film. The breakfast helps (a little) but its not really a venue for a sparkling weekend. It seems the place needs a complete modern makeover, better management and attention to the minor details that make an enjoyable stay.

"beautiful room, horrible noise"
tracy r, 12 Juillet 2017

Hot night; opened windows; noise unceasing all night. Could see & hear ventilator fan under our bedroom from kitchen. The staff said we should have phoned down; we said we were up at 4.30am & my husband went down at 5am; no one was in reception or seemed to be around. Later staff denied; said the ventilator had been switched off at night. We didn't sleep. Room prepaid, they didn't offer any recompense.

"Definitely recommend for families and those looking for relaxed environment"
ciarat619, 12 Juillet 2017

A large family group stayed here this weekend and having read previous reviews we were not expecting much but we all agreed they couldn't have done more for us and a rating of 5 is justifiable. The rooms were fine, clean and adequate for what we wanted, all had fans and although it was very warm this weekend we did well. Breakfast was great, no request was too much and they accommodated a lot of weary heads well after breakfast finishing. They accommodated a very early check in and very late check out for one member of the party and all in all they helped a family to get together to celebrate a wedding in a nice setting without any issues. The staff were extremely friendly, we had food in the evenings and lunches and would recommend and stay there again.

"Hidden gem"
Rebc11, 10 Juillet 2017

This weekend we have had a large group of family members coming to stay in the area for a wedding. Whilst the decor is dated, I absolutely cannot fault the staff, the food and the drink. Staff were attentive and helpful- in particular patient with some more demanding requests! And the food more than hit the spot at breakfast! (We didn't eat an evening meal) All in all a super weekend Thanks so much

"Miserable stay"
Sy Mand W, 18 Juin 2017

Unfortunately the room was unbearably hot. There was a fan, but that was about as much use as a chocolate teapot. My husband put a tissue in front of it and it didn't move until it was 4 inches from the fan, completely useless. It actually made our stay uncomfortable and a little miserable. Feel the price is overcharged too. Had this of been a premier inn at least they would offer more than " a lot of people have said the same, sorry " doesn't quite do it sorry. This weekend was a xmas pressie from my husband to me to go and see UB40 at the Newark festival. This really did spoil the night away. I couldn't bear to go down to the bar for a relaxing drink. Sad as in this day and age comfort of a customer in a hotel is paramount

"Truly dreadful in almost all areas"
nicdouglas, 15 Juin 2017

Let me start by saying this review is not a reflection of the staff at the hotel who were courteous, helpful and friendly. This hotel is beyond tired. The room I had looked and felt like a student hall of residence. The sash window in my room (11) rattled all night. The floor was covered in beads (remnants of the previous night's Indian wedding party), one of the mugs had tea stains, the top of the kettle was filthy with grime, the biscuits on the tea tray already open and to top it all off there was a scraggy big toenail left on the bathroom floor. Vile! Breakfast the next morning was taken in an acrid, burnt toast smelling room and the ingredients were inferior quality. The bacon was like soggy pink cardboard. I stayed here because I couldn't get a room at my chosen hotel. It used up a free reward night from an Internet booking service so only cost me £11. This was still not value for money. I won't be staying again. The owners of this place are cutting quality corners wherever possible to maximise profits at the expense of customer satisfaction. I wish I had driven the 100 miles home instead of staying over. My stay was in June 2016.

"RAF brats get together"

"OVERNIGHT STAY MEETING NEW FRIENDS"
blackvelvety2k, 11 Juin 2017

On arrival we found the car park was pay and display, but when we signed in at the main desk, we were given a slip to put in the car for free parking. Was a bit disappointed on first entering our room, it seemed small and full. However it did contain a double wardrobe, tv, on a shelf was tea/coffee making facilities, a floor fan, dressing table and a double. Only complaint - the carpet could do with a good shampoo. The room, in fact the whole hotel had a strange smell and yet I find it hard to describe, I didn't like it, but not enough to complain. The bathroom wasn't that much smaller than the bedroom, nice towels and toiletries. We joined the group we were meeting, in the beer garden, which is a tidy size, but could do with some more tables than just 2, and more chairs for other guests (we were no way a large group but had all the chairs.) Despite me making a point (as I was told to do twice) at front desk and the bar, that did not want any vegetables or potatoes on my plate, no kind of garnish on my chicken, I was presented with a plate containing 3 BIG roast potatoes and couldn't see my chicken, it was so covered in some type if herb that looked like bird seed. The plate was taken away and brought back minus the roasties, but the chicken still covered, so I left it. I ordered 2 puddings. The sticky toffee pudding, smelled nice, but it looked like 2 slices of dark fruit bread, I let someone else it. The fruit crumble was very nice and I wish I'd had more. After an enjoyable night we went to bed, the fan was on, but the room was very warm, but I had a comfortable sleep. For breakfast, I had 2 sausages and 2 rashers of bacon followed with a banana and an iddy biddy glass of juice (Why can't we have a proper glass to drink our Juice?). A nice breakfast but would have liked a bit more as I didn't get much the night before, but judging by the notice put up at breakfast, I get the impression they must have guests who try to eat the hotel out of existence. It wasn't brilliant, but it definitely didn't make me say, I wouldn't go and stay again.

"Our perfect wedding"
36Sharon2017, 29 Mai 2017

We had the most perfect wedding day. January, the events manager, worked tirelessly all day and couldn't do enough for us. She met with us beforehand and listened to all our ideas, which she carried out impeccably. The whole venue looked stunning and was extremely clean. They provided all the flowers in our wedding colours. The garden area was well kept. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The wedding breakfast meal was superb as was the evening buffet. The DJ was great. We stopped in the bridal suite which was lovely. We couldn't fault anything.

"If I could score a zero I would!"
ChantellaD, 26 Mai 2017

Have stayed at many best westerns and this is by far the worst! My colleagues room had pubic hairs around the toilet when he checked in so he asked to change rooms only to go into the second room and find it was directly above a running fan all night! The rooms are in need of a refurbishment, the receptionist never asked how the stay was , was this because she knew the response she would get? The doors to the kitchen and external were open all day with no fly screens, the person cleaning the toilet in the morning also made the breakfast! Overall, not a pleasant experience.

"Well located and good value"
BrucknerTheMaster, 24 Mai 2017

The Deincourt is very handy for the centre of Newark. My single room was perhaps a tad pokey but it did the job and the amenities were all fine, apart from the WiFi which kept going missing (only for a short period in each instance, though). The breakfast was very good and, for the record, so was the meal that I had in Cartwheels. The total cost was more than acceptable.

"Regular business stopover when near Nottingham"
Bryck, 09 Mai 2017

Stayed here 5 times over the past 2 & half years. Location perfect for us being a short walk into town with all the facilities you want within close proximity. Rooms are good beds comfortable. Staff quite friendly and problems get sorted ultimately. Couple of real ales in bar is good. Car park with enough spaces close by. Breakfast provides ample of what you need to start the day, staff friendly. So would recommend as it's good value & only 5 mins walk from an exceptional quirky real ale pub that is provides delicious refreshment after a hard day on the road!

"Practical overnight option"
Ptahsuti, 09 Mai 2017

Location On the edge of Newark but only around 5 minutes walk from the town centre and bus station and about 15 minutes walk from either of the railway stations. Accessibility Check with the hotel before booking. Rooms in the main building are all upstairs with no lift but the newer annex may be different. Noise Street noise is minimal and fire doors shut out noise from the bar very effectively. Main building rooms suffer from typical older building odd noises from plumbing and radiators. Rooms Standard single rooms are small and only contain a single-size bed, bathrooms likewise are small. They are however perfectly comfortable, well decorated and certainly suitable for an overnight stay. If you are able to obtain a reduction on the full rate they are a bargain; much less so if the full rate were charged. The hotel Public areas vary in standard and suffer from a pervasive odd smell, probably a cleaning agent of some kind. The selling exhibition of mainly local paintings displayed throughout is a nice touch - more attention needs to be drawn to it Staff Excellent, efficient team

"Great weekend"
simmo36, 03 Mai 2017

Great hotel, staff were friendly and efficient. We were checked into our room early. Rooms are comfortable with everything we needed. We were made very welcome in the nice 24 hour bar. The hotel is an easy walk in to town.

"Solo travel"
Philip_May79, 03 Mai 2017

I stop here every year on a business trip but this year it was something different. Not stump with the usual boring room within the main building but given room 39 across in the smaller building. For a solo traveller this room is ideal, a bath with a shower above giving options for relaxing. A comfortable bed for a change, only downside is the tv remote is not suitable for the built in dvd player so pointless bringing dvds. The wide has either been updated or the signal is stronger in this room, no issues streaming netflix in the room. The breakfast and the staff in the mornings were exceptional again. I used the Cartwheels restaurant on the 2nd evening and the food was very nice, highly recommend the strawberry and stilton salad to start with. Only negative for the restaurant was the waiter/barman. Needs to go on a course on how to interact with customers, lacking confidence. All in all a very pleasant stay and hope next year is just as satisfying.

"First impressions count"

No free car spaces and had to pay overnight parking charge around the side of the hotel. On booking in, the lady on the reception desk informed me that we didn't need to pay for parking after all. I suggested that this was not made clear and that another gentleman had also paid for parking at the same time. No reimbursement offered. The lady then suggested that we were booked in as room only but I queried this and argued that we had booked online and the booking included breakfast for two people. The lady rolled her eyes and gave us our keycard and we were directed to our room. Hard, uncomfortable bed, dated but clean, very average breakfast, friendly reception staff the following morning. Handy for Newark town centre. Not good enough!

"Great showers but feels a bit tired"
Jonfox4, 02 Avril 2017

Issue I have always had with Best Western is inconsistency. I generally don't book them. However, booked this as were visiting a wedding nearby, price was ok and thought try the again. Arrived at about 7pm, and the room hadn't been serviced from the previous occupants. To be fair we were swiftly swapped rooms. The new room was reminiscent of a better than average B&B, as was the breakfast environment. Decor has been maintained but on a reliant and repair basis. Like an old house with 10 coats of paint. The bed had a hard spring running across it and wasn't overly comfortable. Shower was excellent. The birdcage looks lovely, shame money hasn't been spent elsewhere. Overall the place was ok, but I would probably choose a Premier Inn next time.

"buffet for a wake"
_rapplewhite, 27 Mars 2017

I booked a wake for my brothers funeral, the room was nicely presented with tea and coffee available for our arrival. when all the mourners had arrived the buffet was brought out consisting of a selection of sandwiches and quiches (absolutely delicious) to suit all tastes . the waiting on staff were very attentive without being intrusive tea, coffee and water were replenished with out being asked . Overall a very nice experience on a very sad day.

"Pleasant, friendly and value for money."
Tony E, 17 Mars 2017

Recently stayed at this hotel for business and was totally amazed by the whole experience. The room was spacious, clean and excellent facilities. The Restaurant for evening meals was the best I have experienced in a long time. The food is freshly preparred, very reasonably priced, excellently presented and delicious. Breakfast is excellent too with excellent service and tasty produce. The staff from reception to housekeeping and waiting staff are a credit to the management and themselves, very helpful and polite. I would certainly return here and would highly recommend the Deincourt Hotel to others.

"dissapointing breakfast and morning staff"
Paul C, 13 Mars 2017

i came here for an overnight business trip with a colleague our welcome at reception was welcoming and efficent by a very courteous member of staff and we both headed off to our rooms. I was allocated room 15 which was small but functional although the toilet is so close to the wall that you have to sit side saddle. An odd experience to say the least. We went down the the bar for a couple of beers and dinner and were welcomed by lovely attentive staff so top marks from me. After a good nights sleep i came down for breakfast and after the previous night i was expecting a pleasurable experience. How wrong i was/ I came into the dining room to be the only one in there as placed my order with the waitress. More guests arrived along with my colleague who placed their orders and then i noticed others were getting their orders before me including my colleague who came down 10 minutes after me. When i asked where my food was, and complained that others were being served before me i was told by the older waitress that "you'll get them when it comes!" to which i quipped i was 186 when i sat down. She brought a breakfast to the table and i pointed out that this wasn't what i ordered where she tutted and walked off with the meal saying the cook was having an off day, returning a few minutes later with the correct meal. I took one look at it and realised it was inedible. The bacon was so dry and overcooked it resembled dried jerky and the scrambled egg was overcooked. I left quite dissapointed and without eating my breakfast. after what had been a pleasuralbe stay it was a shame the my breakfast esperience didn't match the rest of my stay. as someone who is due back in the area very soon i will no have to look elsewhere for somewhere to stay..

"Clean room and great breakfast"
andrewgD784SG, 12 Mars 2017

The staff were very helpful and everything was clean. The rooms had all the essentials and some. The only downfall was that it is slightly dated but really great value for money. I would stay again with no hesitations

"British Dragonfly Society Meeting"
MickTw, 27 Novembre 2016

After reading the views before visiting I had my concerns, but beside the room being a bit on the small size, see photo's, I found the staff welcoming, the room clean & tidy & breakfast enjoyable. Friday night after booking in etc we visited bar & had some dinner, which we found was to our liking & we're offered a table in the bar or in the restaurant area. The Friday night was quiet with only a few people for breakfast the next day, were you ordered your cooked breakfast. The Saturday night was busy with two groups in, some people wedding party & a fancy dress dance party, found this out talking to the other guest at breakfast on the Sunday morning, were breakfast this time was a help yourself from the heated tray's but the eggs were cooked to order, with the staff working hard to keep the trays etc topped up with food. When looking at the website photo of the hotel you can see it's in 3 parts, the left hand side is reception, bar, restaurant, breakfast room & accommodation. The centre shows you were parties/wedding reception our held, to left is the annex where there is more accommodation, there is no lifts in the annex, so if you have trouble climbing stairs ring first. The rooms in the annex have 2 keycards, one which you need to put into a slot just inside the door to turn the electric on for the room, also all the smokers stand outside between the annex & main hotel reception door so hold your breath. The car park is to the left of the buildings, were if you're not parked beside the hotel you our given a parking permit for the pay&display car round to the left & behind a building under-development. If the hotel has a function on, like when we stayed the park can be very busy & tight on space. Would look at staying here again & it is a quick short walk into Newark town it's self.

"Best Western A*"
ashleykS5486HF, 24 Novembre 2016

Brilliant value for money, very clean, excellent staff and nice rooms. Overall a excellent choice for business or pleasure! My trip was solo to meet up with work colleagues, hotel is in an excellent location and cannot complain! Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. A*

"Convenient for town centre"
PHEL56, 20 Novembre 2016

Had a room in the annexe. Bit stuffy - difficult to ventilate as on ground floor. Room on the small side. Double bed small. Pillows were little more than cases. Furniture could do with refreshing. Bathroom OK. Tea & Coffee facilities fine. Didn't use the restaurant, but had breakfast on the 2No. days we were there which was fine. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, Particularly Melissa on reception. If it wasn't for the staff, I would probably have marked the hotel lower.

"Let down by traffic noise"
Red_Admiral_R06, 16 Novembre 2016

Well located hotel close to the centre of Newark. Rooms in the annexe are spacious warm and comfortable with hair driers in the room and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel, has a 24 hour bar, though not sampled on this instance. A good breakfast was provided, but, if not included in the room rate costs £8 unless ordered at check in, in which case it's only £4 (which is good value) I would stay here again but would request one of the back rooms as the local traffic, which obviously is outside the hotels control, is noisy until well after midnight and starts again between 4:30 and 05:00 in the morning which is a pain of you are a light sleeper. Would have rated 4 if the room had been quieter

"Overpriced"
010473emma010473, 12 Novembre 2016

We needed a hotel room at short notice as an overnight stay. Although we were grateful they had a room the £90 they charged was very overpriced for the room we were given. The mattress was very hard, we had a kettle but no mugs or tea and coffee and the decor was awful! The only 2 good things about our short stay were the lovely staff and a pretty good breakfast. Would not stay again.

"Not great"
Gareth E, 07 Novembre 2016

Stayed one night - handy if you want a bed within walking distance of Newark town centre, but little else going for it. Room was small, badly furnished and decorated - like staying in the spare room of an elderly relative. Bed was small and uncomfortable. Breakfast and staff were both pretty good, but would avoid for anything other than a brief stop in a convenient spot.

"Had a party here"
Malcolm F, 06 Novembre 2016

The staff were wonderful. They couldn't have been more helpful. Great venue for family get together made all the better by ease of arranging and help during the evening. Buffet was well presented and good value for money

"I'm not going back again"
AlanPickess, 03 Novembre 2016

Room stank of mould/damp, skid marks on the toilet, so cold despite having 2 t-shirts and a thick jumper on, & shower didn't drain properly. Reception was polite & breakfast ok but will definitely stay somewhere else next time.

"Terrible hotel"
A_Random_Pearswan, 02 Novembre 2016

Let me start by saying the staff are very pleasant and professional. Our room was on the entry hall near the bar and restaurant and was incredibly noisy until at least 3am. The toiletries provided by the hotel had already been used! The whole building smelt of cooking. The bed was ridiculously uncomfortable. Breakfast was terrible.

"Not boutique but immaculate"
Helen S, 01 Novembre 2016

I stayed here for one night whilst travelling with work. To be honest, it wasn't really my cup of tea at all...I prefer something a little more boutique, but saying that, I would recommend this place as it was immaculate. I arrived very late, but the friendly staff insisted that there would be food available for me, which wasn't AA rosette standard if I'm being harsh, but was tasty and very good value for money indeed. I sat in the restaurant, and the waiter, I believe he was called Gareth was exceptionally enthusiastic and helpful. I watched him laying the tables for breakfast, wearing WHITE GLOVES!!!! Yes, its true. The cutlery was spotless and super shiny and the fabric napkins smelt of fabric conditioner. The floor was spotless and the skirting boards looked immaculate too. My bedroom was small, and again, perhaps not really on trend, but was faultless. The bed was comfortable and the linen and towels were super clean. The only downside was that my room was rather warm, so I opened the window to be awoken by the noise of the extractor fan from the kitchen below early the next morning. On departure, I asked for a receipt to be emailed to me, which happened, very promptly. Overall, I would say that this hotel would suit an older traveler...but I certainly wouldn't complain if I needed to stay there again as I was very well looked after indeed!

"NEVER AGAIN!!!"
jjroberts91, 29 Octobre 2016

Spent two nights here and what a sham!!! Most staff have about as much customer service skills as a Circus preforming animal!. Staff can't wait to talk about the clientele as they leave the room when not realising there is other members of that family remaining in the bar. Rooms are poorly kept clean zero communication between staff regarding booking! Avoid at all cost look else where for temporary accommodation. Safe to say not even worth one star never been so appalled in a hotel in all my life

"Friendly staff - average accomodation"
Eliza2B, 26 Octobre 2016

This hotel is quite central in Newark and walking distance to the centre of town and the castle. We had an upper room, which was average to small and quality of the bed linen was poor. We waited a very long time for a very ordinary meal at night. Breakfast the next day was better. Staff were very helpful and friendly

"Everthing you want from a hotel"
dorothea g, 18 Octobre 2016

Stayed two nights ,Good location 5 minutes walk into Newark, plenty of easy parking, good clean room well maintained , plenty hot water , all facility's working, plenty tea coffee biscuits, quiet, breakfast great all you need, staff helpful, good modern bar and restaurant. great price, could not be better, have no hesitation in staying again.

"Hotel handy for Town Centre"
mikbanbury, 15 Octobre 2016

Pleasant Hotel walking distance from town centre, rooms reasonable, clean and tidy, we had a shower only ensuite but very good strong shower, all the normal facilities and very impressed with the Wi Fi which was available in all rooms. We had a very pleasant evening meal in the Restaurant and all staff were all very friendly and helpful also very good breakfast. Over all we had a satisfactory stay.

"Great find "
Anna_hallas, 07 Octobre 2016

This hotel was lovely, the reception staff went out of their way to be friendly and extremely helpful, the bedroom was really pleasant and clean , it was particularly nice that the room was individual, so many hotel rooms look the same, the shower was good and the bathroom clean, breakfast choice and service was also good, very nice all round hotel

"Nice stay"
Kerry F, 03 Octobre 2016

Went for 1 night to visit a friend, we had two rooms. One was a double and the other was a single, the single was very small which wasn't ideal but an overall good stay. We ate before we went out and the food was very nice, hot and was a decent price.

"Great staff - time for modernisation of rooms"
AnnieCroft2016, 28 Septembre 2016

The location is wonderful for Newark town centre. The housekeeping was a very high standard and all the staff were great. However, the rooms really do need bringing up to date and making more comfortable, and the rooms with doors onto the driveway are probably not as secure as they might be. They appear to be internal doors hidden under the fire escape. I probably wouldn't stay here again based on the standard of the rooms.

"Fabulous Room. Fabulous Staff"
Karen M, 19 Septembre 2016

Myself and Two friends booked a family room here at completely the last minute. Our actual destination was Lincoln, but that was totally booked out. We really didn't know what to expect ( wasn't expecting much to be honest) but, wow, we were blown away. The Hotel is lovely (really lovely) and the receptionist ( Maggie) was wonderful. We needed to get to Lincoln by a certain time and Maggie went above and beyond to help us .. giving us a map .. telling us the times of the train.. giving us the numbers for Local cabs( the most reasonably priced ones) and even organised a cab to take us to the station. We didn't have to wait too long to get into our room and when we did, it far exceeded our expectations. It was a very roomy family Suite, very tastefully decorated and had all the little touches.. Kettle with Tea, Coffee and sugar etc. Shower gels and Shampoo. Towels laid out on the beds.. that you could possibly need. The shower was second to none! The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast we had the next morning was superb .. Everything you could possibly want was on offer. Every single one of the staff were polite, friendly and very helpful... But obviously a special shout out to Maggie! I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel to anyone. Well done Deincourt Hotel... Well done. x

"Good food, good wine, lovely staff but bad bed."
jgndante, 19 Septembre 2016

The car park is too small but you can park in the pay car park without a fee. The staff are very pleasant and go the extra mile to help you. The food was well cooked and presented and the serving staff were nice. BUT the bed was like concrete and the pillows were dead. The towels were also a bit old and the bathroom was not very fresh. It is well situated for Newark - a few minutes walk, plus Lincoln and Nottingham are not far away.

"Vast Improvement"
jwhunt, 14 Septembre 2016

I have stayed at this hotel over a number of years while visiting friends in Newark on Trent. Over the years standards have slipped and last year I said it would be the last time I stayed there. But it's to close and convenient to where my friends live, so I gave it another chance this year. I'm glad I did. I must say a big thank you to the management and all the staff for making my stay enjoyable.

"The Most Uncomfortable Bed in Any Hotel"
Marilynx48, 12 Septembre 2016

I stayed here for one night and was very disappointed on a few points. I requested ground floor "if possible" - a politeness that turned out to be a big mistake. When I asked where my room was, I was told up 2 flights of stairs which turned out to be 4 flights. I was told there wasn't another room available and was made to feel that it was my fault as I had booked a single room. I reached the room which was well-appointed but smelled musty. The very creaky bed should have been condemned many years ago. The side that had been used to sit on was about 10-15 cms lower than the other side. As I turned to my left side, I had to hold on to the side of the bed with my right hand to prevent rolling back and as I turned to my right side, it gave the feeling of falling out of bed. Also, both pillows were much too old for comfort; the bottom one of which had been previously used. The single glazing, and the fact that I couldn't manage to open the window, meant that it was dripping with condensation when I woke up. I had the standard buffet breakfast but was shocked at the "Lincolshire Sausages". It was dreadful high cereal content version of the real thing and looked pale, microwaved and was floating in water like a frankfurter. There is a large car park at the side of the hotel but beware, it has uneven ground and no lighting. I won't be staying there again.

"We Love Maggie"
600moo, 05 Septembre 2016

We were in Newark due to Lincoln being completely booked out so we had no idea what to expect in this town . We booked ahead on the phone and lowered our expectations just to avoid disappointment . How wrong we were . When we arrived the rooms were still being cleaned from a wedding party but Maggie suggested we wait in the bar , we chose the garden which was lovely . Maggie came through and let us know our room was ready and had made a map of the route to the train station and what the times were etc .. ( we ended up getting a cab ) . Our breakfast was excellent and the staff were super friendly . I cannot recommend this place enough , thanks to everyone who made our stay a pleasant one xx Especially Maggie ! :)

"Very pleased"
trodin, 17 Août 2016

My wife and I were a bit unsure when we arrived at Deincourt in early August after reading an adverse comment in the reviews. We were very pleased though as our stay progressed. From the moment we entered the reception to after we left the staff were friendly and could not do enough for us. The room was excellent and the lounge in the evening was very comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant and I have no idea how the adverse comment could be made. it was a pleasure to stay there and we would have no hesitation in staying there again. Terry Rodin

"Staff are realy friendly"
KamilSz1, 09 Août 2016

I stayed for 4 weeks and all I can say is that this is excellent place to stay. Staff members are helpful and very friendly. I had to change hotels few times during my stay and I couldn't book a room for 2 nights so I asked receptionist to help me find something, she asked around and found me really nice place. They are when they are needed, you do not have to wonder around to look for someone to order a meal. Rooms are clean and quiet. In comparison to other places in Newark this one have highest ratio of price/services/placement. I will definitely stay there next time.

"Wedding"
toyotaaygo, 07 Août 2016

My husband and I got married on 6th August at Deincourt and it was a wonderful day. The staff couldn't do enough for us and with January in charge they did an excellent job. The layout and decorations for our wedding were just how we had planned it and everything ran smoothly thanks to January. The food was superb and we would highly recommend it. Thank you Deincourt for making our day so special Jill and Andre Lovatt

"Disappointed "
Kurly01, 30 Juillet 2016

We booked 2 rooms, both were in the annexe. 1 room was very close to the main road so kept waking up to the sound of cars and people going past. We arrived at 13:56 and were told to wait till 14:00 to check in and they had to make sure the rooms had been cleaned! Blood on the sheet hanging down that covers the bottom of the bed. After returning to the room after a night out we found that the sash window had not been locked, so someone could very easily have got in to the room. Check out is 11, so we were relaxing in the room at about 9:45am when a cleaner decided to enter unannounced! She apologised then later said she had done it a few times that morning?! Won't be staying again!

"Weekend visit"
Adam_Sharpe, 24 Juillet 2016

Booked in for a weekend visit. Great location, being able to park the car and walk everywhere was a great bonus. Meal in the Restaurant was very good, and also the late night bar meals was a very good idea. Only downside was the fact that the bar was open to non-residents and there were many of them on the Friday and Saturday night, fortunately our room was away from the bar...

"Handy for town centre, other than that I'd rename it "Fawlty Towers""
David B, 15 Juillet 2016

Never again at a Best (or should I say Worst) Western hotel. My wife and I booked 3 months in advance travelling with another couple for 1 nights stay. We arrived at 5.45pm to be greeted by the manageress with the most appalling attitude. We were told our room was ready but our friends must wait another 20 minutes, no explanation given, told to wait in the bar & they'd bring their key when the room was ready. 30 minutes later the key finally arrived after we had to chase this up ourselves. The following morning we arrived ready for breakfast at 8.45am with no tables free and a large queue of other guests waiting for tables meaning we had to sit on bar stools in the bar, after queuing for another 10 minutes one of the staff brought us each a plate with our fried egg and our cutlery and told to wait in the queue to help ourselves at the self service buffet. We found they had no food left apart from a few rashers of bacon and a couple of mushrooms. No yogurts, fresh fruit, juice, croissants, bread to toast, etc etc, nothing else at all, not a sausage (excuse the pun). I must say my cold fried egg was nice. We asked if the food could be replenished and one of the staff brought a bowl of baked beans taken from one small tin and that was it. On checking out we, our friends (and many others) complained and in the style of the Channel 4 programme paid what we thought the room was worth for the nights sleep only because the breakfast was a disaster. The following day I received the obligatory email from the hotel asking for my feedback and surprisingly one week later I've not had a reply to date.

"Clean,comfortable, well located"
hollymccabe2016, 10 Juillet 2016

We were staying 2 nights for a wedding and we're quite worried after reading a lot of the negative reviews.however, our room was a reasonable size, the bathroom was almost as big with a new bathroom suite and a great shower, the room was clean and fresh and the bed comfortable. We stayed in a room that someone else has recently reviewed and it's interesting to note that they don't mention the huge new bathroom with the brilliant shower. The tea/coffee tray was well stocked and there was plenty of shampoo etc. the whole place smelled fresh and clean. Service at reception and at the bar was quick friendly and professional. Breakfast has an unusual arrangement regarding ordering eggs however food was fresh, hot and tasty, served in nice surroundings opening out onto a lovely garden. Honestly, there were no faults. The room was very warm however we had a fan and the windows could be opened. What do people do at home when it's hot? There was some noise from the road but not enough to cause a disturbance. Most hotels in towns and cities are located near roads and I don't see how the hotels can then be responsible for the road noise. Free car parking is provided. If I had taken into account only our own room I would have awarded a higher rating however I know from others in our group that their rooms were much smaller and with very small bathrooms and so perhaps there is a need for an overall balance. Although the cost might have been less, there is little or no comparable accommodation nearby and the hotel seems to be full most of the time, so the price is probably about right. All in all, there is nothing wrong with the place. People need to understand that they are not going to be staying in 5 star accommodation, they are staying in a small independently run roadside hotel contained in an old building that offers clean comfortable accomodation in rooms in all shapes and sizes, that will suit the needs of most people most of the time. If that's not what you are looking for then best go elsewhere, and pay a lot more.

"A good value hotel in a great location."
Happy_Lounger, 10 Juillet 2016

The hotel is in a good location a short walk from the centre of Newark-upon-Trent. It is on a busy road so is easy to find however this does mean that there is some noise. There is plenty of car parking around the back of the hotel although it was not that easy to find. Initially, it appears to be a pay and display car park and I was given a permit when I checked to place in the car so the signage could have been better. I was travelling as a single female and was allocated a room on the ground floor. The room was small and perfectly functional with bed, chair, desk, wardrobe, TV, mirror, hairdryer and kettle with tea/coffee/biscuit/milk. There was no air conditioning so I did not feel comfortable opening the window at night. There was plenty of hot water for the shower and toiletries provided in the bathroom. I was advised that the reception would be staffed until 11pm and that after 11pm, there would be a night porter. I returned after 11pm and the reception area was deserted. Breakfast was served in a light and airy dining area with a view over the garden. There was a good selection of food at breakfast –cereal, cheese, pastries, bread, toast, yoghurt, fruit, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Hot food was also available, was made to order and delivered quickly.

"Weekend stay"
AnnesleyRed, 26 Juin 2016

Found the hotel clean and the staff very polite and helpful. Only had Bed and Breakfast and the breakfast had a good choice of food continental or English. Plenty to choose from. Room was spacious and clean and the shower was good too. Sited on the main road , a five minute walk to the centre of Newark.

"Average -apart from the temperature! "
AbiHillModel, 22 Juin 2016

Booked a Single room B&B for the Miss England semifinals in June 2016. The room itself was up a few flights of stairs (no lift) and fairly tidy - though there were some cobwebs and mucky marks in the bathroom. It was INSANELY hot though - I can't sleep with a fan humming away or a window open to outside noises, so i did toss and turn a lot. I asked some of the other girls who also found the same in their room. I had eggs benedict for breakfast and they were ok, but certainly nothing to rave about. Overall for what I paid it was ok, but I have stayed in nicer hotels for the same price.

"Disappointed "
AimlessTraveller22, 22 Juin 2016

Needed an overnight stay in Newark and booked this off the best western website as they have always been reasonable. Well this was quite a disappointment, the room looked like it had last been decorated in the sixties. The breakfast was pretty poor quality, there was even a sign up telling you not to eat too much. I must say however that the staff were helpful and friendly.

"Fantastic Staff"
b0rap63, 18 Juin 2016

Stayed one night at the hotel whilst visiting friends. The hotel is very smart and clean although not well sign posted if you are from out of town. On arrival the receptionist is very smart and very welcoming. Our room was in an annex next to the main building right on a main road. The room was on the first floor up some steep stairs which I think any one with slight mobility problems would struggle. The room itself was very clean and of a good size although it was a bit cool. After a fantastic shower we went down to the bar/ restaurant area which was very nice and yet again the staff were superb and could not do enough for us. We ordered a bar meal of a cheese baguette with salad and fries for the wife and a chicken baguette with salad and crisps for myself, on arrival the food was fantastic and good value for money approx. £10 the only down side was it took them over an hour to serve the meal which on a quiet night, as it was, was a bit too long and my food was delivered without the crisps. We had a fair nights sleep until we were disturbed by the traffic noise early in the morning as the windows are not double glazed. Breakfast, which is served 6.30 until 9.30 was very good with very good service and was served promptly and well cooked, very good value for the £8 cost.

"First Class"
Julie J, 17 Juin 2016

Stayed here for one night - upon arrival had to fill out reservations form which asked if there were any health issues should there be a fire - as I have a hearing impairment thought this was a good idea and was also asked if I had any dietary requirements - being Gluten Intolerant again was good to be asked on arrival. When I went through to the bar, ordered a drink and put it on my room bill I was then asked if i wanted to look at the Gluten Free menu .......what a change not to have to ask for one :-) The following morning was offered Gluten Free sausages to go with a Full English AND Gluten Free toast.......the staff were were friendly and I couldn't fault this place at all - Highly Recomended.

"Why is this in their portfolio"
Terence K, 17 Juin 2016

By far the worst Best Western we have stayed in. As loyalty card holders we were extremely disappointed. Our room, 30, was in the attic, it was small and uninviting. The en-suite was sad. The walls had been painted over without filing the holes or removing the lumps; the shower mat was mouldy and the shower gels etc had already been used. When using the sink early in the morning hot water was running out of the cold tap. This hotel is in serious need of an overhaul.

"Saturday night"
Nicola H, 12 Juin 2016

One night stay at the Deincourt. The staff are lovely and helpful and the bar lounge and restaurant are pleasant. The hotel was very busy with a wedding which did impact somewhat on our experience. It was noisy into the early hours with people waiting loudly for their taxis outside below our window. Our room in the annexe was small and a little tired and very warm. Breakfast was a buffet unstead of the usual table service - and we were a little disappointed with this - although this is no reflection on the hard working staff and it was possibly due to the numbers of guests. All in all an ok stay but wouldn't rush back unless the room rate was much lower than what we paid this time.

"Memorable for the wrong reasons"
Stephen J, 29 Mai 2016

We were allocated room number 40 in the annexe part of the hotel which was very compact, dark and dingy with the rickety old bed shoehorned into a space which made it inaccessible from both sides. Road noise and noise from other residents in adjacent rooms and the entrance door slamming, creaking floorboards made for an impossible nights sleep. Thankfully it was only one night. However, what made things worse was the fact there was only tepid water available in the bathroom at 8.30am making a hot shower impossible. Thinking there may have been a high demand at that time of the day or perhaps a particularly long run of pipe work to the bathroom, we allowed the water to run for a reasonable time before reporting this to reception who apologised and said it would be checked. Unable to wait any longer, a refreshing cold shower was taken. On checkout, when asked how was our stay, I reminded the receptionist of the absence of hot water in the room and again an apology was forthcoming. Finding this unacceptable I advised that I was unwilling to pay the full room rate. The manageress allowed a 15% discount. Just as we were settling the bill, the manageress appeared and told us the water had been checked and found to be okay and there had been no other complaints, almost insinuating disbelief. When I again stated this was not the case at 8.30am and thought it may have been for the reasons stated above again this was dismissed without apology. Poor customer service on the part of management.

Each year I work in Newark for a few days, the last few years stayed at the Millgate Hotel but reverted back here as no choice in the matter. The last time I stayed I was in the worst room ever. However, on this visit I noticed that room is no longer available to the public. I was on the top floor and although the same size, amenities it was a totally different experience. Much quieter, more relaxing and a much more enjoyable stay. If you are going to stay here ask for a room on the top floor, you won't regret it for the relaxation you will get.

"Dated, Dismal and Disrupting my sleep"
David P, 06 Mai 2016

I was really disappointed with the standard of the room itself, it felt cramped, dated and whilst not dirty it felt tired. I think a revamp is perhaps needed. (I was staying in room 18). In addition the sash window in my room did not close properly so i was subjected to the traffic on the nearby road which destroyed my sleep on both nights. In the restaurant the menu seemed very limited and whilst certainly inexpensive I would of happily paid more for a greater choice and quality of offering. I have to say however the staff were polite and keen to help I checked on the hotels occupancy (they were 'pretty full' and on the basis my work colleagues room was worse than mine decided not to complain at the time and stick with what i had.

"Party"
Teresa B, 05 Mai 2016

We came here for a party on the 16th April. I was very excited about it because we have booked our wedding at the hotel in september. The meal was lovely. I had the beef and it was so tender, there was certainly plenty on my plate, and satisfied me being a big eater. The fudge cake was divine also. I was going to have canapes on arrival at our wedding, but have cancelled them due to realising the meal was so filling that we would not need them. Staff friendly, could not do enough for us. I am now relaxed knowing my wedding is in good hands. well done Deincourt

We have stayed at the deincourt several times and absolutey love it.They have comfortable rooms great food and super friendly staff that really go out of there way to assist you in every way.We will definitely be back again soon.

"Nice hotel without being over the top"
Dolemite600, 26 Avril 2016

Everything about it was good without being over the top. Breakfast was value for money. Although we did not use the bar (we were only there for one night) it did look good. Actually had hand pulled beers. You were only about five miles walk from the centre of town. Although we checked out on the Saturday morning, they were fine about me leaving my car in their car park until I left town that afternoon.

"Overnight stay"
ali1165, 25 Avril 2016

Stayed overnight in a family room for a wedding. Hotel looked slightly shabby from the outside but inside was fine. Room was great value. Very nice helpful staff. Room had kettle etc. Excellent cleanliness. Would use again.

"Don't Even Bother."
emilyjf95, 16 Avril 2016

Don't even bother checking in - there's a Premier Inn 8 minutes down the road cheaper and cleaner. Never been in a Best Western so shocking. Bedding bobbly, rooms barely big enough to fit one person in. Everything littered in dirt. Shower looked horrendous. Asked to cancel booking and the receptionist was rather rude, too. Just don't even go there.

"Nothing Best about it"
foodee76, 16 Avril 2016

LET'S START AT THE VERY BEGINNING... It was an organised party, with a pre chosen food order. It was an arrive at 7pm for dinner being served at 7.30pm. We didn't start our first course until 8.30pm. The mushroom starter was great but the soup was terrible. It looked like thick processed baby food. It was also very very salty. ON TO THE MAIN COURSE... roast pork, was hard and not nice. I had the beef and got the scrag ends with all the nasty bits. The mash was like watery lumpy potato no flavour to it all. Most definitely not the 'creamy mash' advertised! The roast potatoes barely had any colour to them. The vegetable side dishes did not look inviting, all the vegetables were dumped into the bowl they all tasted the same and looked similar. And finally ... Sticky toffee pudding my favourite - usually, but not here- it looked like 2 slices of malt loaf on the plate, it had hard, crusty edges and was dry. You then had a choice of cream or custard to put on. We were unable to pour the custard from the gravy boat as it was thick and lumpy. The Eton mess had approximately a quarter of a strawberry in it and the apple and blackberry crumble was of equal, poor quality. In summary, the presentation of the food was dreadful, the taste was flavourless, the service was slow but the staff were polite especially the young lads. Basically you had a chance to promote your food to 50 people with the possibility of increasing your business. We have been to a Best Western before in Worksop and it was beautiful. However we, most definitely will not come back.

"A tired Hotel"
Graham G, 06 Avril 2016

We visited as we have friends in the area and we where having a celebratory night out in Nottingham. It's a pretty tired hotel that needs money spending in the rooms. Our bathroom was bugger than our bedroom but the cleanliness if the bathroom was poor. Limited parking unless you go and use the overflow parking which there is a cost for its not expensive but the hitel says free parking. Didn't have breakfast although i paid for it we saw what the kitchen loomed like the previous night. On the whole for one night it was bearable but that's it.

"Moderate Experience"
peter m, 04 Avril 2016

We booked in for one night as we'd been invited to a 'do' at nearby Kelham Hall. The Staff were helpful and friendly - particularly the young man in charge of the Bar. However the room was pretty dire (No.37) in a building fronting the road. The bathroom had no bath. It was simply a narrow corridor with a loo at one end and a shower at t'other with a basin in between. The overall effect of the room was 'tired', lacking in character amnd not somewhere you'd like to stay in for any length of time. The breakfast was pretty good, in fairness

"Staff pleasant, but hotel is mediocre"
Sparky0191, 01 Avril 2016

1 night stay on business. Given room at front of hotel which faces main road and so was noisy. Room was large, but décor was very plain and it felt shabby. Dusty surfaces - so could have done with a good, deep clean. En suite was ok, but shower small. Good choice at breakfast and freshly cooked. Staff all pleasant and chatty. At £75 for B&B not cheap. Would I stay again - probably not.

"below standard room"
Micheline H, 31 Mars 2016

This hotel is situated on the main London Road into Newark and onwards to Nottingham. We asked for a quite room but where given a room at the front looking onto the road and traffic noise was audible through the night. Room was very basic and looked shabby and not very clean. Light above sink in bathroom wasn't working. The decor looked like it could do with a complete refresh. We heard noise from other guests walking upstairs and in room above - plumbing, pipes etc. Not pleasant at all. On the plus side breakfast was fine and staff friendly. It cost £79 inc breakfast. Not value for money and certainly not as good as Premier Inn or Travel lodge.

"Really impressed"
Louise S, 23 Mars 2016

Good location, parking was good, which is a must for me! Great sized room and good shower. What made it for me though was the excellent customer service throughout my stay. I particularly liked the evening staff who accommodated my late eating requests and were super friendly. I would happily stay here again

"The hotel was great, the room was a big disappointment"
396joannac, 09 Mars 2016

I booked a single room. These days you often expect a small double bed for single occupancy. What I got was a child's single bed. The mattress was the hardest I have ever encountered and that's not an exaggeration. The bed squeaked whenever I moved. The door to the room itself was so stiff I had to use both hands to open it and it didn't easily close and certainly not by itself which I felt was a security risk. The room was very clean and had the amenities you'd expect. Good TV, reasonably fluffy towels, tea/coffee facilities, soaps, hairdryer, free secure parking, all really good. I didn't book breakfast in my rate but did use the facilities at extra cost. A great, possibly newly built, addition. The breakfast area was nice and the selection good. I only had toast but I wasn't disappointed with the selection and menu on offer. I didn't use the bar but it looked like a great space. Clean, fresh, comfortable, nice atmosphere. For a Best Western I was really surprised at this standard. If the room had been a better size and the bed a better quality this would be a really good value hotel. I would not recommend a single room unless seen. As it was, I felt a bit cheated.

"Our wedding day"
Vicki M, 05 Mars 2016

Where do we start. . Well this was everything and more than we wished for on our wedding day. Bridal suite decorated lovely so perfect. The food for the wedding breakfast was amazing and catered for gluten free for every single thing my husband needed. The hot and cold evening buffet was delicious with so much to choose from all our family and friends were so impressed. I have to mention how January and all the staff there are simply brilliant at what they do. Kind caring and helpful in every way. Nothing is too much trouble even if it's above and beyond. Thank you to you all for making our special day simply the best we could have ever wished for .. Vicki and Andrew Mccarthy

"great location"
MattyMower, 28 Février 2016

My wife and myself stayed here for one night ,because we were visiting a couple of National Trust Properties in the Area, there is plenty of space's for your car.The receptionist was very helpful and explained everything regarding meal times etc, we stayed in room 40 which was just to the side of the entrance on the bottom floor so no stairs ,the room was a double but one side of the bed was against the wall so you had to climb over the bed to get out ,the room itself was really small and out dated for a price of £90 with breakfast ,we had a evening meal and drinks which was really cheap but excellent service, the breakfast was fantastic so it made up for the small room ,overall I would stay there if I was in the area no problem

"Stay at Newark"
J8049YKjonathand, 26 Février 2016

Not value for money. The staff were very friendly and did their best. The rooms are average and the place needs an uplift but its clean and functional. I was only staying for one night so was not looking for anything exciting which is what I got

"Definitely worth a visit!"
Babs061, 16 Février 2016

Just enjoyed a great evening in the Cartwheels restaurant as non-residents. We have been coming to Newark for 30+years visiting family, but have only just discovered the restaurant here! Tonight was curry night alongside the regular menu and offered a very tasty selection at excellent prices. The venue is very comfortable and the staff efficient, friendly & very helpful. We have now booked in for Mother's Day lunch, so proof of how much we enjoyed it!

"no complaint"
Donna_and_Pete, 15 Février 2016

well firstly if I reviewed twice it's because it said my first review didn't submit. i am actually writing this review while we are still here. we are in a family room a couple of steps across the car park from reception. we read a review saying room could be noisy but personally not found it a problem at all. my husband and I are here with our 1 and 4 year old. staff are really friendly. we had a lady called fliss set up our travel cot who was so nice. someone cleaned our room this morning. I felt awful as the children had let toys all over and they had all been cleaned up and our eldests bears had been put to bed which she loved. the evening meals (steak night in particular) are lovely. no complaints at all 10 out of 10 close to town and attractions would stay again

"short stay"
Julie W, 02 Février 2016

It is a friendly hotel close to the town centre rooms on the front can be a little noisy from the roads It is a clean and basic hotel with everything you need for a short stayrooms were clean and a good size the breakfast was very good apart from the lincolnshire sausages which were definitely not! But there was plenty of choice of other items. Staff were helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble

"Decent hotel for a stay in Newark"
Shantele72, 01 Février 2016

A few of us stayed at this hotel for a funeral we were attending in the area. The rooms are clean and spacious and its a good location, just five minutes walk to the town centre. The bar is good, with helpful staff. Didn't make it down to breakfast so can't comment on that. Only complaint was the bed - it was just not comfortable - springy and small for a double. Didn't have a great night's sleep as a consequence, so glad it was only the one night. Apart from that all was good. Parking is also free.

"Celebration turned sour."
YorkDouglas, 31 Janvier 2016

Having spent a wonderful reunion dinner with old friends, our weekend was spoiled by the "experience" of room 34 in this "hotel " The room was quite dreadful. The bed was lumpy and hard. The single glazed sash windows were a joke letting in noise and cold air.Teh decor was something out of the 70's. Please best western spend some money on this plane, before we return in future. The bathroom light did not work, and the shower was designed for a small, thin person. What did we pay £75.00 for.

"lovely clean hotel"
Malcolm J, 10 Janvier 2016

Room was very clean and spacious, 5minute walk to town centre helpful and understanding staff.Excellent breakfast ,alarm call in morning even booked me a taxi for my trip to showground.I can recommend this hotel for a trip to Newark, all the local sights are close at hand.

"People who care"
Paul T, 01 Janvier 2016

I'm writing this review because of the excellent service you get at this hotel in the respect of the sevice and quality of food. We have not stayed in the hotel so I can't comment on that, we use this place quite regularly and you always get a great welcome when ever we go they serve an excellent selection of food at great prices and good selection of beer which is kept to a high standard. January and Gary who are the owners always give you great welcome. We have just had Christmas dinner and attended the new years eve function and both of them was first class, we also arranged a meal with the family on the Sunday after Christmas because that was the only day we all could get together they set it up in the main restaurant with all the Christmas crackers which made it feel special, a big thank you to January for that. This is certainly one place in Newark people should come and try the staff are great as is the relaxing atmosphere.

"Another pit stop. "
Jazzmouse1, 22 Décembre 2015

Once again only in a hotel for a few hours in between Nottingham and Edinburgh. Very handy for the mainline station (5 minutes in a cab) Staff were very friendly and helpful despite my late arrival. Festively decorated bar was unseasonably quiet but was, on this occasion, a blessing. Eggs Benedict for a rather early 7am breakfast was very good.

"50th birthday bash"
singingboy, 15 Décembre 2015

Earlier this year me and my wife held our joint 50th birthday party here. What a great night it turned out to be. The hotel staff were so helpful throughout and even joined in with the fun and even the karaoke and treated everyone with the upmost respect ( well done to you all ). The manageress was brilliant throughout the entire process of the planning of the event and even when we decided that we wanted a buffet that they had not tried before ( a mixture of slimming world recipes and tapes ) they delivered it with perfection. we were allowed the use of the function room, restaurant and garden which gave us loads of space. We had a group on that came highly recommended by the hotel and a photographer that was allowed to set up a photo booth in the restaurant area. Some of our guests stayed the night and were not disappointed by the staffs enthusiasm to please. I would recommend this venue to anyone thinking of having a celebration here and don't be frightened to ask for what you want to make your night special, you will find the manageress ( January) very helpful. A big well done to all at The Deincourt Hotel for making our night special. Colin & Sarah

"Deincourt Hotel"
Terence S, 12 Décembre 2015

Nice hotel in a great location, you can walk to the town centre in a couple of minutes. The staff are friendly and efficient . The room was fine, and I had a good nights sleep I would make a point of using this hotel again if visiting Newart.

"Short break in Newark"
David W, 10 Décembre 2015

A pleasant hotel run by a friendly, helpful team. Our stay was spoilt by traffic noise we had a room at the front of the annex which is not double glazed, ask for a room in the main building which we were told do not have the same problem.

"Don't have breakfast!"
Tom T, 07 Décembre 2015

The room was quite good, clean and a very nice bathroom. Getting to the room was not encouraging however, you pass the kitchen, which had the doors open into the corridor and there was an overpowering smell of curry. The kitchen did not look very pleasant, there were pans everywhere and trash all over the floor. We should have learned from that because the worst breakfast ever came out of that kitchen. You have to wait for a plate to come with your choice of egg on it, the self service buffet had bacon that appeared to have been steamed, wet and greasy, sausages that were tasteless and seemed to be meat free, tinned mushrooms, metallic tasting grilled tomatoes, and soggy hash browns. This was definitely a breakfast to miss.

"Ok Room, Terrible breakfast"
mrtubs65, 05 Décembre 2015

The hotel was cheap enough and the room nice and warm. The shower was outstanding as very powerful and hot. However, the room wasn't particularly clean with the glasses in the room being covered in the previous occupants toothpaste. The breakfast was truly horrible. You were offered a choice of egg which was cooked separately and bought to you. That was fine, what wasn't was the help yourself buffet. A few pieces of dried bacon that looked like they had been there for a week, about 6 slices of mushroom swimming in grease, soggy hash brown and dry & congealed beans, At the end of the day the hotel was convenient and cheap but to be honest would rather have had no breakfast rather than this.

"A pleasant stay"
alundj, 26 Novembre 2015

The Deincourt makes the best of an older building by provided good facilities and a welcoming approach to their guests. The room are of a good size and very comfortable and the ensuite is quite spacious. The staff were all very helpful in the bar area and in the restaurant. The food served was of an above average quality and we would recommend the Deincourt when needing somewhere to stay in Newark

"one night stop off"
Martin T, 18 Novembre 2015

hotel is clean the staff were excellent, it needs a bit of a face lift , breakfast only Ok but it was early, car parking adequate, bar clean and tidy and the choice of beers and wines was good, shower in the room was excellent and the bed comfy and clean

"Comfy hotel accomodation"
Mal E, 11 Novembre 2015

This is clearly an old pub that has been modernised and is now part of the Best Western chain. The building is two story and no lifts. Amenities include an open all hours bar and a good restaurant. Evening meals can be had as a counter meal or a sit down meal in the dining room. The meals are good. Breakfast is choice of continental or full English and is good value. There is off street parking. The internet was generally reliable and stable save just after breakfast and just after dinner.

"Worst Best Western Ever? Which passing circus clown gave it 3 stars?"
David H, 09 Novembre 2015

Fortunately we only stayed one night but that was enough. The main hotel has little charm. It looks like a former Masonic Lodge. The Annex - one of a pair of semis - in which our second floor minute room was located is something else. There is no lift so getting up the narrow, steep stairs to the room with suitcases is extremely difficult. Quite how one would escape in the case of fire is something the local Fire Prevention Officer should investigate. The steeply sloping ceiling bore many marks where previous occupants had banged their heads in it. It produced a very claustrophobic effect. The hotel is centrally situated near a junction on the old Great North Road from which traffic accelerates so traffic noise is considerable. Naturally it has no double glazing. The bathroom was primitive and the towels supplied were very grey and grubby. We doubted whether they had been washed but if they had, it was certainly not in the recent past. At least we escaped the utter horrors of Room 3 but having seen where it is located we can sympathise with an earlier reviewer who spent sleepless nights there. Those few staff we saw were friendly and breakfast was fine and served quite quickly but those were the only positive aspects of our stay. What is to be done? If it does not have a listed status, demolition would seem to be the best solution. The site would lend itself to redevelopment and a more modern hotel would doubtless benefit the town and any future clients. Which joker gave this run-down establishment three stars?

"Great service, lovely food and hospitality"
johnev2014, 04 Novembre 2015

We attended for the first of a series of soul music events which was set in a suite off the hotel. We didn't stay over hence I can only review the facilities, the food and staff. The function room was very nice, the staff were extremely courteous and helpful . I'd like to give special credit to Gareth who went out of his way to assist in any way he could. The food was very good, a Sunday Lunch in our case although the menu was both extensive and very reasonable priced. Eating in the Dining Room was a very pleasant experience. Well done to manager January and all her staff. Be assured we'll be returning soon!

"excellent hotel"
Joyce A, 03 Novembre 2015

we decided on this hotel at the last moment and so glad we did! only a small hotel but the staff are so pleaseant and most helpful in all areas rooms are basic but clean food in restaurant was excellent would definitely stay here again

"This Review is No Exaggeration - Definitely Avoid Room 3"
rosyleatea, 28 Octobre 2015

Stayed 2 nights, beginning of the week. Positives - friendly, helpful staff. Good freshly made food, well presented and quickly served. Room clean and tidy. Negatives - avoid room 3 at all costs. The room is situated between the guest/staff toilets and bar/lounge ( the bar tv is mounted on the adjoining wall to the bedroom ). The kitchen is directly opposite the bedroom, smokers corner is directly outside bedroom window. Night 1) Sleep disturbed constantly due to tapping/ clicking noises coming from the laundry room, situated on the opposite side of the courtyard. We spoke to the helpful receptionist the following day, she assured us she would investigate and if nessessay move us. When we arrived back later she explained that she had spoken to housekeeping and we were assured a quiet and peaceful night 2. How wrong these words were. Night 2). Arrived back at hotel early evening after a very long day. The hotel bar was already busy, with a football match being on that evening and with the bar TV mounted on the wall adjoining the bedroom, the actual bed situated next to this wall, understandably the noise filled the room. Regular shouting, cheering, swearing which was appalling. As the night wore on things did not improve, stomping up and down the corridor, past the bedroom door, to use the toilet. We hoped once the match was over things would calm down, this was not the case. The noise, swearing, stomping etc continued until 3am !! At one point we heard what we thought was someone vomiting in the bar area. Not long after 3am things settled down, but not before more stomping past the bedroom door, swearing and slamming of doors. Short lived, around half an hour later, banging on external doors, which were opened and voices again could be heard. We presume this was a member of staff commencing work as the kitchen became a hype of activity, with loud talking, banging of pots and pans, and what seemed to be the loading of the dishwasher. It was now past 4am, we managed to doze until 6am when again we were awoken to loud talking outside our room, someone asking what time they would be ready ( presume breakfast ) - reply 6.20am. By now we had slept for two hours, it became clear things were not going to improve so our bags were packed and we made our way to the breakfast room. We would like to point out that the staff were very welcoming and breakfast on both days was most enjoyable. Upon checkout, the receptionist we had spoken to the previous day asked how our second night had been. She was informed all of the above and was very apologetic. She was informed we would be leaving negative feedback on tripadvisor and we would be complaining to Best Western about our experience. The receptionist informed us she had spoken to the staff who had worked during the previous night. The fiasco was apparently due to a well known local who would not leave the premises, she actually informed us that he was sick all over the bar (the bar is 24 hours supposedly to hotel guests only). I do not believe that this was an isolated incident after reading all the negative reviews on Tripadvisor, the receptionist was informed we had read these reviews. By now two members of housekeeping had joined the receptionist to hear my concerns, I informed all three ladies that the staff are a credit to the hotel, but I am afraid that is as far as it goes.

"Brilliant western"
Stephen M, 28 Octobre 2015

Really nice staff, food great and rooms lovely! Terrific hotel and great location for getting about town! Would stay here again definitely and highly recommend this hotel. Reasonably priced, comfortable and ideal for people wanting to visit the old market town of Newark!

"Poor Best Western"
Mark S, 21 Octobre 2015

I have always found best western to be of a high standard, but this one lets them down. I was in a small annex on the main site. The room was clean and tidy and looks to have been recently repainted, but they should have done more. It looks like they repainted by non professionals. Finish isn't smooth, nice hand print half way up the wall and the paint is already coming off where they had filled holes. The shower is old, but perfectly serviceable and powerful. The shower curtain was rubbish, didn't fully enclose the bath and was difficult to pull round. The shower mat was old, moldy and starting to fall apart. The bed felt like it was on slope and the mattress was quite soft & lumpy. They also need to improve the sound proofing as I could clear hear the lady walking around her bath room upstairs and the water through the pipes when the loo was flushed. The double glazing needs repair as it had bad condensation in it. On the plus side, the staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful

"Average, but ok."
SaveFerris101, 12 Octobre 2015

This was an odd building with an annex etc. didn't look fully around the property or savour the delights of breakfast. The room however was sizeable and clean, but a bit dated with a dressing table and mirror, oddly positioned wardrobe and an average shower experience. For the price I would have expected something a little more. There was nothing bad as such, just average.

"Another visit "
BMorriss, 01 Octobre 2015

Always find this hotel comfortable, clean and warm ( don't like being in the building next door which is part of the hotel) but always confirm this when booking. Idea distance for a short walk to the town centre.Parking to the side with extra to the rear which is chargeable

"Worst Best Western Ever"
Catherine M, 25 Septembre 2015

Very disappointing, horrible room in annex, towels were beyond grey, carpet dirty, pokey stairway.....3 flights no lift....would not consider ever again. Surprised it is a Best Western since they are our preferred group in USA.

"Ok, but make sure you check your bill"
Tina C, 17 Septembre 2015

I have stayed at this hotel some years ago when my brother got married and found it clean and very pleasant. It was as i remembered, friendly staff, nice meal, clean room, however the bed was not very comfortable and needed replacing it gave me a bad back. I was travelling on business which was due to be charged back to the company i was doing work for, the hotel took a pre-authorisation swipe of a card in case i went over my company allocated allowance. Ii checked out in the morning and thought nothing of it, however i spent nothing that evening before so i shouldn't of been billed anything, to my surprise i was billed for the room and the evening meal and it was charged to the card i swiped, i wasn't checked out correctly so i only noticed the money had been deducted after i checked my bank statements. I was annoyed to say the least, i rang the hotel and they told me they couldn't refund it till the morning as the person who deals with accounts wasn't in. Not sure i will use this hotel again after this blunder !

"Poor hotel with poor service - best avoided"
Mike_engineer, 17 Septembre 2015

I had the misfortune to visit this hotel. The room had not been cleaned as i found out when I went to the room. I was then "upgraded" to a room which fronted the busy main road. The room was really noisy as there was no noise deadening. The room was poorly finished. I asked for an iron and iron board and was told that it was not possible. I had to go to the laundry for this which was outside, defeating the benefit of the ironing. The breakfast was actually sad - no effort made with poor quality food. finally, the receptionist made a mistake with the bill and did not even bother to apologise. All in all, poor quality hotel and best avoided.

"OK for business traveller"
Big-M-Toft-Hill, 16 Septembre 2015

Converted from an old hospital accommodation wing or the like, it just feels a little "industrial", work like suspended ceilings in the hallway and poor buildings in the old car park. Some of the staff are very good. The rooms are OK. Wouldnt take the wife there for a special weekend.... But reasonable for work and good for access to the town for a walk.
