    « Excellent Hotel »

Great hotel for the price. The room was large and comfortable with good wifi, and tv reception. The bathroom was very large and had great hot water and water pressure. The complimentary breakfast was very nice - I though there was a good selection and there was plenty of seating the the dining area. What I really loved was the 24 hour coffee and fresh cookies. We checked in about 7pm and they'd just made a fresh batch of cookies which after a long drive was really appreciated. Overall great value.

    « Bucket List Vaation »

We stayed at this great hotel for 4 nights while visiting Charleston - its in a great location just across the bridge. The hotel staff was amazing - so friendly! The front desk staff always gave us good tips on where to dine. The room was very clean and the morning buffet was quite good - eggs, sausage, pancakes, juice, yogurts, fresh fruit. We will definitely be returning !

    « Two thumbs up!!! »

Everything you could ask for in a hotel. Super clean, very friendly and helpful staff, room and bed were comfortable, quiet and peaceful, great location just a short distance from 17, easy access, very good breakfast buffet with a nice variety of hot and cold items. All at a very reasonable price. I will definitely stay there again during my next trip to Charleston.

Very clean - relaxing - near everything including downtown Charleston. Rooms are very well taken care of. Small facility - great if you don't like large properties where you struggle with breakfast - etc.

The front desk staff were wonderful. The room was very nice. The hotel is a great location across the bridge. Quiet and convenient to downtown. Breakfast was good too. Book online for a great price. We will be back.

« A very good hotel in Mount Pleasant SC »

We stayed here for four nights in November and were very pleased with the hotel, rooms, service, breakfast, etc. This is an older indoor corridor hotel that has been completely remodeled in a wooded setting a block off of the main highway, 17, that goes through Mount Pleasant. It is within three blocks of the main bridge linking Mount Pleasant and Charleston. The room rate was very reasonable.....less than half the of similar rooms across the bridge in the peninsula, historic, area of Charleston and only about a 10 minute drive away. We noticed that cruise travelers use the hotel and its parking options. We were very pleased that we were provided breakfast prior to the 6 a.m. opening of the breakfast room on the day of our early morning departure by air.

« Great location and wonderful staff »

Group of 6 spending a few nights in Charleston area before we leave for a cruise. We booked 3 rooms. The location is an older hotel but it is clean and well kept. I suspect the age of the location is why it is so much cheaper than surrounding hotels. I was just looking for a place to stay that way as clean and safe. The staff here is incredible and we took advantage of the parking during our cruise. I would certainly stay here again.

« It could not have been better! »

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. It was very clean, the breakfast was great and the hotel staff was friendly and polite. Plus, the price was very reasonable. What more could we ask for?

    « Great experience »

I would recommend this hotel hands down. Breakfast hostess Kenyalta is awesome. Breakfast is more than we expected. Great value. The beds are on the hard side. Rooms are clean. Hotel is centrally located

« Top marks for this BW hotel »

What a lovely place, we got a big southern welcome from day one and the smiles and help continued throughout our 3 night stay, adding to that we got upgraded for our 31st wedding anniversary which was an unexpected suprise our room was great and breakfast was nice, so we would like to thank Vanessa and the rest of the staff on the front desk for making our stay a little special.

« Great location, great service! »

A couple friends & I got 2 rooms here. We were in town for a concert in downtown Charleston. It was a very easy 6-mile drive to the Gaillard Center, and downtown hotels were much more expensive than the Best Western, so this worked out perfectly. It's also very close to Patriots Point. We went back to downtown the next day to explore the city & Fort Sumter, which you can get to from downtown or Patriots Point. This hotel was the perfect central location for whatever you want to do around this beautiful, historic city. The hotel was safe, clean, & comfortable. And they provided a good hot breakfast. Wifi wasn't very strong, but it worked. My friends stayed an extra night at the hotel, and the staff were very nice to let me hang out in their room until it was time for me to leave town.

    « Trip to Charleston »

This was a bucket list vacation to visit Charleston and decided to stay in Mount Pleasant. Beautiful hotel - very clean - maintenance was constantly cleaning! Desk clerks were exceptionally helpful. There was work going on in the area driving piles but by the time they started we were already up & it didn't bother us at all. Breakfast was good - and the value was exceptional!

« A perfect place to stay the night before a cruise out of Port Charleston »

While searching for lodging the night before our voyage to Bermuda, we found Patriots Point Best Western to be the best choice. The accommodations are first class and a satisfying breakfast is available to send the cruiser well fed and strengthened to face the rigors of boarding the vessel. Not only are the staff most hospitable, but Patriots Point allows a cruiser to leave his vehicle in their parking lot free of charge for the duration of voyage.

    « Very nice »

We stayed one night after a cruise. Since we got off the ship early I was going to cancel and head home but this hotel needs 24 hour notice or you pay a charge. Normally cancelling by 6 p.m. is permitted. Anyway happy we stayed here nice large room, clean. Nice breakfast selection as well. We like the area as it is much less expensive than Charleston but easy to get to.

    « Horrible »

We were on our honeymoon and we cut our honeymoon short by 2 days because of this hotel!!! 1. There was a hotel being built next door and the pile drivers shook the hotel every moring at 730..that woke is up, even though we didnt want to get up that early 2. The horrible smell in our room, they sprayed but didnt work 3. The beds were smaller then a normal bed, the worst bed i have ever slept on, I think a rock would of been better. We didn't sleep for a week and woke up every morning in pain!!! 4. The pillows?!?!?!? Where in gods name did they buy the pillows, i mean really, they were made for Santa's baby Elves. They were tiny, I mean they had to roll the extra pillow case up under the pillow it was so small. 5. The cleaning people never cleaned. They fixed the bed and that was it.. We had to go down several times and get things like, toilet paper, towels, trash bags, soap and the bags for the ice bucket. The only thing worth this hotel was the breakfast, great breakfast!!!! and the location, the hotel was about 5 mins from everything!!! We love travelling, and it was our honeymoon.....WE CUT IT SHORT TWO DAYS BECAUSE OF THIS HOTEL!!!!!

    « No complaints! »

Stayed there for one night with husband and kids. Perfect location if you are heading to Patriot's Point. For the price of the room, we had no complaints. The room had 2 queen beds. They were pretty comfortable. Lots of pillows. The A/C worked well. The hotel room had a little wear and tear but it was clean. There was sufficient hot water and the water pressure was pretty decent. Fortunately, they didn't use any of the nasty smelling room deodorizers less expensive hotels often use and the room had no odors. The continental breakfast was average but complimentary. They had eggs, sausage, yogurt, pastries, cereals, etc. They probably should replace or adjust the settings on the waffle makers. Our waffles were a little doughy likely due to the wear and tear placed on the waffle makers. The staff was friendly. Check in and check out a breeze. We will stay there again.

« Very reasonable for the price »

I stayed here recently while attending a wedding with my wife and our 2 adult sons in their own room. My wife and I were assigned room 201 which is a handicap room at the end of the hall. No problems with the room per se but a couple of issues -- the closet is set up for someone in a wheel chair and the clothes rod is much lower than standard which presented a problem for my wife's long dress. The bath is accessed by a pocket door which was okay. Our only other issue was after hearing what sounded like bongo drums several times the room shook slightly. It brought back memories of 'magic fingers' (whole bed massagers by vibration) from the '60s. Nothing to be alarmed about but it was a noticeable vibration and visible by water in glasses also vibrating. The breakfast was a disappointment from stays at other Best Westerns or Hampton Inns. Not much variety and a smallish space. My son's room was okay but the sheets on one bed did not appear clean. The elevator was a slow so we walked up and down the stairs except when we had our luggage. The price made it all worthwhile with the AAA discount and it is conveniently located between Coleman Blvd. and Highway 17.

    « Hotel »

Good value..had planned to stay at Quality to be with my group, but it was full. They recommended the nearby Best Western. My room was 1/2 the cost of the Quality..so turned out very good for me. Glad I waited to get a reservation!

    « Great location »

Very friendly staff.Very clean rooms. The free breakfast was great. The hotel was close to patriots point . So it wasnt far to get to boat to tour Patriots point and Fort Summter. Also the desk clerk gave us directions to a wonderful place to eat in Shems Creek

    « Convenient location »

We looked for a hotel that offered parking/transport for our cruise. The Best Western location fit the bill! It was easy to find. We were pleased with the hotel, transport and price. The driver was timely taking us to the port and notifying us when and where to pick up. We were back at the hotel by 8:10 A.M.! Pleased with this hotel and will stay there again!

    « Great Before a Cruise »

We stayed here the night before our cruise. Staff was very friendly, and the like cation was great - just 10 minutes from the port. Be warned if you use TomTom to find it - when you come across the Arthur Ravenal Bridge from Charleston, TomTom said to turn left at McGrath Darby Blvd. DON'T - turn RIGHT instead - the Best Western is right next to the Days Inn. Parking was easy, and the breakfast is free. We met our son there, so we had 2 cars. We were able to leave one there for free for the duration of our cruise. We drove ourselves to the pier but a cruise shuttle is available. I believe there is a charge for this, but we didn't ask since it didn't apply to us. The room and beds were comfortable, and we checked out at 11am and drove straight to the port. If we cruise again from Charleston, or even if we just go to visit the city, we will stay here again.

    « Patriots Point »

The hotel was in an excellent location. We were just minutes from Patriots Point and downtown Charleston. It was clean and the breakfast was good. The check-in was easy, attendants were very cordial and helpful. They had luggage carts which made bringing the bags up to the room easier.

    3
« Great location with friendly staff »

Hotel is conveniently located to Charleston and Shems Creek in Mt. Pleasant. Rooms are clean, A/C unit was very loud though. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A pleasant stay. It is a quick drive to Charleston over the bridge and there is a water taxi from Patriots point as well

    4
« It was your average hotel stay with a fantastic breakfast »

The hotel was your average Best Western Hotel. It had a clean room that met our expectation. The room was actually very large because of the design and being next to the elevator. It had a bid of a musty smell but once the a/c had run a while it was better but not gone. They get a star removed for that and the "closet" is a flimsy set of doors that resemble an ikea style wardrobe. We felt safe leaving our cars and walking the area. There is a great little Turkish place next door we walked to without hesitation. The hotel is very convenient to Patriot's Point (3 minutes) and to get to downtown Charleston by Uber ($8) it take 9 minutes. Great location for our needs. The breakfast was awesome. I like a big breakfast to start my day and they have EVERYTHING you could want. The eggs, ham, coffee, and biscuits were hot while they have cold milk, orange juice, and yogurt. I especially liked the waffle iron which was a nice touch. The staff is friendly and they were helping everyone in the computer area and calling for rides as requested. They greeted us everytime we walked in and bid us goodbye on the way out. They were some of the most hospitable staff I've seen in a while.

    « Untrained/unknowledgeable staff, lack luster breakfast »

I had paid for the room via Hotels.com so upon checkin I was asked for a credit card for incidentals. Gave the guy my card, and he charges us for the room, that I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR. He assured me it was a hold and it would disappear in 24 hours, feeling unsure about his response I asked again when the next clerk came on duty, so she checked and yes he charged my card wrong, I heard her tell him he put it under the room folder instead of incidentals. (At least she came in and I don't have to spend countless time on the phone with my bank straightening this out). He said there was only ice on the 2nd floor, there's ice on the 3rd floor. He said there was bacon at breakfast, there was none. He said there was biscuits and gravy and breakfast, there was none. All and all I would not stay here again, my dad stayed at a best western on the south side of town Called the Charleston Inn recently and he raved about how much better the breakfast was and more knowledgeable the staff was.

    4
    « Great location! »

I have stayed at this Best Western many times. The location is great. You can drive to downtown Charleston in 10 minutes or less. The airport is an easy drive, too. Mt. Pleasant has plenty of good restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel is in a quiet and safe area.

    4
« Nice, clean and convenient »

The hotel is conveniently located just across the bridge from the historic district of Charleston. It is clean, the rooms are nice and the breakfast is good. The pool was cold when we were there, but we didn't have time to swim anyway.

    3
« Nice place that could be much better! »

Rooms are fine, bed comfortable, and the location is wonderful. However, for the price there are hotels within 2 blocks that exceed this by a mile. Desk clerks are not interested in being helpful in anyway. My husband called 3 times (from another country) and left messages for me and not once did my message light blink or was I left a note at the desk. If you dont have a choice then stay here because the rooms are clean... but if you have a choice go across the street and stay at Sleep Inn.

    « Nice Upgrades! »

I've stayed at this hotel twice now... once 10/19/16 and once around my birthday in February 2016. In between these two dates, the hotel has had some major renovations to the lobby and dining area, which were a pleasant surprise upon check last week. The rooms had already been upgraded and were in great condition, and the lobby and continental breakfast area were remodeled and more accommodating for the large number of people that crowd into the breakfast area. The outdoor pool was open this trip, but it was a tad chilly, so we only stayed in for a few minutes, but it was nice and clean. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The rooms were clean and the bedding was all new from my previous stay. Free WiFi and hot breakfast included, and just minutes away from Patriot's Point, Downtown Charleston, and our destination - the Carnival Cruise Port! I will absolutely stay here again in the future!

    4
    « Perfect location! »

After travelling for a few days we were so happy to find this hotel - surrounded by trees, in a very quiet area but only minutes from the sea ( Shem's Creek area) and also minutes from the lovely new, soaring bridge over to Charleston. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast had a good choice and was nice. My only complaint was the musty smell in the room but after smelling the same thing in the Boone Hall Plantation house I realized it may be inevitable in that area. We will happily stay there again.

« Close to all major attractions »

The hotel is situated in a safe area and very close to all major attractions Charleston has to offer. Only 10 minutes over the bridge into historic downtown, 5 minutes to Patriots Point and 20 minutes to the coast. I only gave 4 points because the rooms could have been cleaner and compared to other places we stayed on our road trip through the southeast the breakfast wasn't as good as in the other hotels.

    4
« Good hotel in very good location, close to everythings »

No problems.Area is safe.Price is good for location.Everything you need can be found around.Beach is not faraway also.We will stay here again.Any small problems seems to be normal, like in any hotels, but once again location is very good.

    4
« Close hotel with basics close to Patriot Point and Charleston »

Greeted very warmly, given assistance to find things to eat locally. The room was large, bathroom larger, clean and ready. The air conditioner could be cleaned out as when it ran it smell mildew. We just opened the window and shut it off and were fine. The breakfast was great, constantly cleaned and resupplied.

    5
« Great Staff, Great Room, Great Rate!! »

My family stayed here for 1 night prior to our cruise. The staff was great - friendly, professional, accommodating. Our room was clean, the bathroom was large, beds were comfortable. The rate that we received was so much lower than the other hotels that we looked at, I was not expecting much. But, to my surprise, this hotel and its staff exceeded our expectations. Also, the breakfast service was terrific - not a "continental breakfast" - but a mini-buffet with a "make-your-own waffle" setup. My family was delighted. Will definitely stay here prior to our next cruise!

    4
    « Good value »

Very good value and location. Easily access both Mt. Pleasant and Charleston,. Very close proximity to Patriot's Point . Rate was very good considering the other options during our visit. Many restaurants, fast food, grocery stores and other shops adjacent to the area. I would not hesitate staying at the hotel again.

    4
« Great place to stay for the price »

Great place for the price and was very easy to get to all points of interest and restaurants. Nice room and it was very comfortable and would stay here again if back in this neck of the woods again. It was in a pretty quite location which made for a peaceful nights rest.

    5
« The best in Charleston »

Very clean. I loved this hotel. It has been recently remodeled. It's a wonderful place to stay. It is convenient to the beach and to downtown Charleston. You won't find a nicer hotel in the area. Parking is free and not crowded.

    3
    « Rude housekeeper »

We stayed here one night for a day in Charleston. Check in was fine. Lobby is ok. Room was not so good. Shampoo and lotion were used glad I always bring my own. The toilet was loose and wobbled. The carpet needed cleaning my socks weren't white or near it when I walked on it. They looked like I had walked on a sidewalk with them and shook them off a bit just nasty . The bed was very comfortable. Great location, great neighborhood. It was peaceful and quiet so got a good night sleep. The next morning housekeeping knocked on the door and says it's almost check out time and proceeds to walk in. She looks in the bathroom and walks out. Mind you check out is 11 this was between 8am and 9am. Won't go back

    5
« Great stay at a super convenient location! »

Fine hotel located just minutes from Patriots Park. Easy drive to Point for day at the Naval ship Yorktown or to ride to Charleston on the water taxi. Restaurants within a mile or two that are sure to satisfy. (Shem Creek area) Room was clean, although carpet might have been cleaner. Quiet location, comfortable bed. B[fast typical hotel b'fast - eggs, ham, toast, waffles, various bagels/muffins, cereal. Overall, good place to stay while visiting Charleston. Would definitely book again!

    5
« Best in Mt. Pleasant, SC »

Great place to stay, always clean. Staff is so friendly, esp. Ms. Beresse, she makes you feel at home and so funny. She will start your day out right. Breakfast is good, rooms are very comfortable and you are close to everything.

    « Excellent Location »

I have stayed at this location several times and have always been happy with the experience. The rooms are clean, staff is very helpful, and breakfast is great. This location is also convenient for attractions in Charleston. It is within 15 minutes of Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, Folly Beach, and downtown Charleston. Beautiful location just off the Ravenel Bridge

    3
« You get what you pay for »

No hand soap or cold water for brushing my teeth. But, it's a hotel room with cable and it's just a place to sleep. Folly Beach is only 25-30 minutes away, with food and bars even closers to the hotel. There's 4-5 bars and seafood joints within a mile of the hotel. If you're going for just a place to sleep, and not for typical hotel bells and whistles, save some cash and stay here. Very friendly staff, complementary breakfast?like every hotel?and free cookies, too! Perfect for those that want to be near the beach and not pay resort prices.

    « Overnight »

First time staying at this Best Western. We were very pleased.. The room was very nice , as was the bed. We were able to check in a little early so we were able to go downtown and have some fun. Very close to town and a lot of great restaurants. Not a bad price for this location. Good wifi. Again a very happy staff. Hope to stay here next trip if the price is right. Thanks again Pam & Fred

    « What a dump »

We got reservations here months ago for a trip we were taking. At check about half the time the doors would not open. It was dirty and very unkept. Went to get a bottle of water from the machine and it ripped me off. The last straw was the toilet would not flush. All of that being said the plus was that the girl at the front desk tried to help us out as much as she could. This will be our last Super 8.

    1
« not clean at all »

Room was dirty asked the front desk to have someone clean crumbs and food up that was all over the floor. Shower was dirty hair all over it. They only came in and picked up the big piece of food that was it very gross. My door would not close unless I slammed it 5 times. The pool area smelled like something died out there. never again

    2
    « Moldy smelling rooms »

Affordable location close to historic Charleston. The lobby was renovated and nice. Those few positives do not overcome the huge negative of moldy smelling rooms! It was overpowering like the rooms were flooded and never cleaned. Finally was given one room on the 1st floor that did not smell but the mattress was old and lumpy. Rooms need renovation!!! Breakfast was mediocre. Went safe and only had cold cereal. Will not return.

    1
    « Not a comfortable stay »

Due to the uncaring staff, terrible internet service, dirty rooms and very noisy beds our much anticipated vacation made for an unpleasant stay in the Charleston area. The location was ok if you want a bit quieter area.

    3
    « OK Place »

It was fine for my family and I. For the money relative to other places in the area, I thought it to be a fair value. I thought the staff to be pleasant and friendly. Rooms were OK. I've stayed in nicer, but I have also stayed in worse. The continental breakfast satisfied our needs. The staff routinely checked on people having breakfast to make sure everything was OK. I would have not issue staying their again. In short: If your particular of every detail of a hotel, this place may not be for you. If your willing to over look some imperfections, you might be OK.

    5
    « Great Rest »

Stopped here on a quick weekend get away. The room was clean and fresh smelling as was the hotel. Front staff was great and friendly. House keeping took care of our request for extra pillows. The property is convenient to a lot of attractions and a very short drive to downtown Charleston.

    3
« Good location and value »

This facility is showing its age, but is being updated. The location is close to the Fort Sumter tour boat location and Yorktown. The bathtub non slip mat had not been removed and cleaned under. It was gross. The room did not have a clock. It was very slow to hook up to WiFi. The room had a such a musty smell, we drove to a store and bought some air freshener. On the positive side the price was very reasonable. The breakfast was the standard no problems there.

  • 3
« Good value for our needs »

The overall experience was good. The room was not as clean as I would expect it to be. Our room was not cleaned during our stay. We requested adjoining rooms but unfortunately non were available. The location was great for site seeing. Free parking is a plus. The pool was warm yet refreshing.

    5
    « good value »

beautiful landscaping, good location, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. easy checkin and out. breakfast was sufficient.. nothing elaborate (pre-formed round flat eggs for biscuits) but as I received an industry discount I was fine with it.

    3
    « Satisfactory »

This hotel has the potential to be fantastic but falls short. The corridors were dirty as though they had not been vacuumed in quite a while. The beds were marginal and not comfortable. The room was small with barely enough room for the chair to fit between the bed and the desk.

    4
    « Visit to Charleston »

Very convenient hotel and close to everything. Went there with my son who is contemplating relocating there and wanted to stay somewhere that offered the best of the area. Close to the waterfront, restaurants and pubs and the city as well as the residential areas. Clean and efficient hotel with nice amenities and staff.

    4
    « Maid service questionable »

The hotel is great, but the beds were NEVER made up for us when we came back to the room later in the day. We stayed there four nights and the maids never made our beds...why?? We also had to beg for an additional roll of toilet paper when we were close to being out. Overall a great place to stay...except for the maids. Comfort of the beds is not too good, either.

    4
    « convenient and clean »

We were looking for a hotel that was close to downtown Charleston without having the pay an enormous amount of money. Best Western delivered. Although the hotel was under construction as well as the pool ( slightly disappointed by that ) the hotel was in a great location and the staff was great. We had arrived at the hotel after doing a considerable amount of driving to get to Charleston as well as doing a fair amount the site-seeing, we were exhausted and asked for directions to a restaurant that was close and had good food. They offered a few that were so close that if we were not so tired we could have walked with no problem. They also offered coupons for some restaurants etc in the area and told us about other attractions in the area. Very helpful and really nice considering they were busy and again under construction. When we left in the morning realizing that we did not have enough time to use one of our tickets for the botanical garden and we didn't want to see them wasted, so we offered them to two of the staff members in the office while checking out. Instantly one of the ladies knew exactly the person to give them to that was also staying at the hotel and she thought he would really enjoy using them. I was struck by her generosity of thinking not of herself but of someone else. It put a smile on my face and added to my memories of Charleston. Another great stay at a Best Western, comfortable bed, clean, a nice breakfast and great staff.

We were greeted by and cared for by all staff in a very professional manner and treated us like family. Even though the lobby and breakfast area was being remodeled we didn't feel inconvenienced at all. When we stay in any hotel we don't count problems we count solutions, and Sidney was there to take care of it right away

The room we had was very clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and very helpful with any questions we had about the area. The only drawback was the main lobby was under construction which forced you to use a side door of the hotel. It was nice enough that I will probably stay at this hotel again.

my family came to Mt. Pleasant to enjoy a great weekend together. We actually were to stay i some Suites up the road. when we got there they were almost slum like. We were appalled. We decided to try and make it work. At about 9 pm we decided it was too disgusting so we drove up the road and seen this hotel. Decided to stop and we were so glad we did. It was one of the most beautiful hotels and the staff was so nice to us.

Ok....here we go 1. Overall appearance is dirty 2. Room A/C was extremely noisy 3. You could tell carpet in the room had not been cleaned in quite a while. 4. I never expect the breakfast to be good, but this breakfast was from the bottom of trash can! 5. End with positive note....The location is very good!

Clean and spacious rooms. Pleased that the air conditioner worked well and kept the room cool and the beds had nice covers and pillow and comfortable to sleep in. The lobby was under re modeling but did not interfere with our staff.

Under construction. Beds were uncomfortable. Shampoo and lotion provided were only half full. Room was musty smelling. Continental breakfast was in a 2nd floor room due to construction. It was very crowded. Staff for breakfast was very friendly. But there was not a good variety. Overall, not a restful experience. Will not be staying here again.

« Good Value Even With Renovation Work Going On »

I stayed here for one night prior to going on a Carnival cruise out of the Port of Charleston the following day. Hotel lobby was being renovated but the front desk staff worked extra hard to accommodate me and my family. Hotel mattresses need to be switched out as they were very uncomfortable. However, the hotel is in a good location near the port, clean, and safe for our short stay. This hotel and others in Mt. Pleasant should offer a stay-park-and shuttle program to allow people like myself to stay there and be shuttled to and from the port for cruises out of Charleston. This would build loyalty and save your customers $85 in parking fees at the port.

« Still under contruction but Excellent Customer Service »

We stayed here for a wedding. They advised us of the construction in advance but the price was right so we went for it. (I hate paying a fortune for a bed to sleep in.) I have stayed in the Hampton Inn next door before and it was very nice but double the price which to me is not worth it when we don't plan to spend much time in the room! There are pros and cons to the Best Western. Cons - not much parking. Check-in is at the far right side of the building so on a rainy night it was a bit more challenging to get to. The pool is small and due to the construction the breakfast is very limited. Also, die to the old heat/AC unit in the room the room has a slightly musty smell to it. On to the Pros. Customer Service is excellent! Check in was super easy and there is staff everywhere to help out. Breakfast may be limited but they keep it stocked, neat and will get you anything you need. I had a sick child and they offered to make tea for her and bring it to our room. The pool - while small - is plenty deep, has a patio in the sun to relax on and even has a chair lift for assisting a disabled person into the pool. Thought was a nice touch. Location is easy to get to just over the Ravenel bridge and close to lots of businesses. Also, very close to Patriots Point if you want to go check out the boats. Room on 2nd floor was small for 4 people but not tiny. Bathroom was spotless, just needed more towel racks for handing wet towels. Water pressure is awesome in shower and beds are very comfy. Not too soft! Also, like that we had a large window in the room with a cushion over the AC/heat that made a nice window seat. Cute touch. And room had a microwave and fridge in it which we always need. Long way to go on the renovations in the lobby. And they should then move to the guest hallways as they could use a face lift. But it is a nice, quiet, hotel for the price with excellent staff!

After reading several reviews I was kind of scared what we may get into but having $150 worth of Best Western Bucks we decided to risk it and I am glad we did. They are under construction remodel. The room on the 3rd floor was complete and very nice with couch and 2 televisions ,granite in bathroom, small refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer and ironing board/ iron. The staff was so friendly. When construction is finished it should really be nice. I would definitely stay there again!

    « Needs Attention »

I understand this hotel has been under renovation since February. It is amazing it has so much more work to yet be done. The parking is quite limited and won't be that much more improved once the dumpsters are removed. Breakfast is more limited than I am used to at a Best Western but the woman managing it did so in difficult circumstances because of renovation and did a good job. I believe they will up their game once done. My room was "cleaned" but upon my return a half-filled coffee cup was on the desk and the amenities were not replenished. We used the make-up remover the night before and no new one for next day. And all towels not replaced. Tub took long time to drain and toilet handle had to be held down for entire flush. Most employees quite pleasant but a couple of desk people were a bit off putting - just not cordial. And when I got lost and called for direction (and found out I was just across the highway) I did not understand the woman and when asked further questions heard, "I told you ..." Not a great opening for an incoming guest. Décor was fine and bed and bedding was very comfortable. Great window cushion, so you could enjoy sitting by window. Will probably be nice place once renovations are done.

    « NICE employees »

This is a great location for the Charleston area. The hotel was under some remodeling work but it wasn't much of an issue. The hotel has the nicest employees on their staff. Our bed was not very comfortable but we have had worse mattresses before.

    « Very Pleasant Experience »

My wife and I were on a mini vacation to celebrate our 12th anniversary. Because of my business, we are not able to get away often. When we first arrived at the Best Western, we were a little concerned. Obviously there was renovation in the front lobby. We were directed to a side door. We were even more concerned when we discovered that our room was located two doors down from that entrance. Actually, it turned out to be very handy. We did not have very far to walk from our car. Probably, the friendliest staff we've ever encountered at a hotel. The room was not very large, but had everything that we needed. It was extremely clean. Even the air was very fresh with no musky odor. It appeared that this room had been renovated. What a very pleasant experience!

    « Huge Disappointment »

This was the fourth time we've stayed at this Best Western and it has gotten progressively worse. My mom and I stayed there while visiting Charleston. I understand they are in the middle of a renovation but I never saw anyone actually working on that. We had to go in the side door which meant walking through the smoking area outside. The check in process was ridiculous in a small hotel room. It was crowded and hot. We got 2 cards for our room and 1 never worked. Our room had 2 lights out. A bedside light and the light above the window seat. So that half of the room was completely dark. You had to move the coffee pot over to the bedside table in order to plug it in. The shower barely worked. I could actually feel the difference in water pressure when another guest showered. The bathroom had no air, it was so hot in there. No way to cool off. The parking was impossible. There was actually not enough parking spaces because of the dumpster taking up multiple spaces in the very front of the building. I'm not sure why you have that thing taking up parking spaces and not just next to the curb. My mom booked the room at my recommendation and I was embarrassed. I feel like if you are inconveniencing your guests to that extent, you might want to offer a discount or maybe vouchers for a local restaurant. There are too many other, nicer options to settle for this Best Western. I will not stay there again!

    « Never again »

We stayed at Best Western Patriots Point a year ago when we came for Spoleto, and it was a very nice experience. This year, awful, awful. Maybe they've changed owners? We arrived to discover that all the first floor public areas are being remodeled, with the temporary entrance off at the end of a hall, and checkin in a small bedroom, and breakfast in a large bedroom. They had told us, months ago when we reserved, that our best chance of getting the connecting rooms we wanted was to get there between 1 and 2 p.m., before the afternoon checkin rush started. But they got very snippy when we showed up at 1:30, and almost told us to come back later. They did give us a ten percent discount at checkin -- "for the inconvenience of the construction," they said, and only after we complained a lot before checking in. Little did we know. The whole front of the building is open to the elements, so every time the elevator opens, it gulps up a big lungful of damp, moldy, construction-scented air and carries it to every floor above. Having a room on the third floor didn't help. Our room was musty, moldy and damp. My sister-in-law is allergic to mold and couldn't stay there an hour. I'm not, but I had a sinus headache by evening. In the morning, we couldn't make the shower turn on. Both of us tried pushing, pulling, twisting, angling the faucet, but nothing happened. Just as well, really, as there is a huge gap between the tacky plastic tub surround and the fixtures. If we had been able to turn on the shower, it would have poured water into the wall space. We checked out after one night. They wouldn't discount the rate any more because they sent a maintenance guy to check the shower and he said it worked. And the weekend staff weren't authorized for a larger discount. "Call the manager tomorrow," they said. I have tried four times now to talk to the manager. She's never available. Assistant manager assured me she could take care of "whatever the problem was." But when I explained she said she would have to look into it and would call me back. She didn't. I called twice more for the manager. Ended up with the assistant again. She insisted there was nothing wrong with the shower, she had talked with the staff by phone when we checked out, and there was no problem. I won't be back. Ever.

    « Good location »

The room was very comfortable. I especially liked the large bathroom. They are in the middle of a renovation so the reception area is one of the rooms and the breakfast area is also one of the rooms. The staff seems to be making the best of a difficult situation. Mt. Pleasant is close for day trips to Charleston and far enough away to be less crowded and congested. Patriots Point just down the block where the Yorktown is located as well as the boat to Ft. Sumter.

« Good sized room, very clean »

My hotel room was kept immaculately clean by the housekeeping staff. It's got great access to highways across Charleston, although isn't in what I'd consider a hub itself. There's a supermarket and a variety places to eat nearby. Hotel decor/furnishing was a bit old/dated, but the bed was comfy and air con worked well. Breakfast wasn't great though...

Wanted to stay in a familiar area and chose a facility we'd used before. As with investments, past results are no guarantee of future performance; the previous time was very nice. This time... The rewards program wasn't recognized as expected. Several items in the room didn't work (perhaps only our room)? Television remote system is poor and our unit didn't work well. Fridge door was backward to cabinet door on the outside. While the wifi worked, it took some sifting through login screens to figure out where one logged in. Hotel staff had their hands full. In addition to a front entrance and lobby remodel, they were also systematically cleaning the carpets. I expect it will be finished at some point, but one staffer shared that they're "redoing the entire area so it will provide a great welcome to our customers." I hope so - but a better room would have been more helpful. In addition, the put the outside smoking area directly on the path of the altered entrance (due to remodel), so one had to walk through cigarette smoke to get into the motel. Lastly, a staffer was overheard talking to another - "I am so out of here." Perhaps it WOULD be better without them. I hope they get it turned around. The location is great; prices have risen which was unfavorable. But they have to have a product fitting for guests and for the Best Western brand. At this point, it's a steep uphill climb. If you're bent on staying here, my advice is to wait until the fall.

    « Disappointed »

We were in town for our son's college graduation and were very disappointed to arrived and find the hotel was under renovations (with no prior warning). Our room had a musty odor, the tub had a huge crack down the middle (covered over by a rubber mat) making us feel we would be visiting the room downstairs at any moment. The hot/cold water faucet did not work properly. I saw no signs apologizing for the inconvenience of the renovations. I would hope that once the renovations are completed, this would be a better place to stay.

    « BAD HOUSEKEEPING »

My wife and I stayed 2 nights here at the end of March. Although the location is good, the hotel is not. After our first night we went out and toured the area. Upon arriving back at the hotel after 6 pm, we found the bathroom had not been cleaned. I went down to the make shift office to complain. They told that no one was available to clean the room after 6 pm. Pray someone or something doesn't happen after 6 pm that may need attended to after that time. I told them that they had to find someone to clean the room. After calling the GM of the hotel, I was offered $20 for the inconvenience. I told them that I wanted a clean room not the $20. Also earlier in the day I had spoken to the housekeeping lady on the floor about the fitted sheet on the bed. It did not fir and was coming off the bed at the corners. She said that she would after that. Again nothing was done. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

« Don't know why there's not more stars for this guy! »

We stayed specifically to tour the Yorktown. Very close, with easy access, and restaurants too. Can't say enogh about The Chareslton Fish House, but that's another review. Best Western is a very good choice if you like reasonable prices for a nights stay. The staff was very accommodating, which I'm sure was hard given they are undergoing renovation. Our room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The breakfast, not so much, unless you want to tear open a cellophane bag and warm your....put in the term, sausage and egg, bagel, etc. We'd stay again and go out for breakfast. Easy access to Chareston and many other venues.

    « Don't stay here »

Staff is rude, hotel is undergoing major renovations as of 04/16 but graffiti is already back on the walls. We should have realized our mistake when we pulled in and there were signs posted by the local police department reminding us to lock our vehicle.

I would not recommend staying in this hotel until renovation is complete. Our room was a adequate and the staff was pleasant but the room was expensive under the best of circumstances which made our stay somewhat unpleasant.

    « Nastiest hotel room ever !!! »

There was food crumbs all over the floor in our room including a biscuit under the couch. It was obvious that the room had not been vacuumed. We had noticed the same in the halls. Looked like they had not been vacuumed in days, maybe weeks. I placed my reservation with the national number. When I called the national number back they told me they were not aware of any renovations. It was a big suprise when we had to check in and eat converted rooms. There was a very limited breakfast due to construction. The local people at the desk were no help in making our stay better, they actually argured with me saying that renovations was mentioned on the website (I booked on the phone). I was also told at check out they would offer me a credit and email me the information but they never did.

« Good Deal and Fine! »

Great Location / easy to and from Charleston!! Very reasonable and although it is only an average quality hotel, we found the hospitality staff above average! The front entrance area is being remodeled: we were 2 rooms down from it and did not experience noise difficulties in the evening. We'd go out for the day and come back at 4 -5ish to no construction noise. It is an adequate, clean, cheerful, and safe place to stay. The staff are doing their jobs well and were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful to us.

« Good even with the renovations »

First of all, I want to say that I NEVER stay in a hotel without reading Trip Advisor reviews. Therefore, I was well aware of the renovations and the less-than-stellar reviews that had been posted, and chose to stay there anyway, since I had stayed there in the past with no problems. If anyone has ever had renovations at their home or business, you should be well aware of alternate accommodations that have to be made. In my opinion, Best Western made the absolute best of a bad situation. Yes, check-in/out was in a room; yes, breakfast was on the second floor in a room, but management and staff made do with what they had. The girl at the check-in counter was very friendly and helpful. The "breakfast lady" was so very friendly and tried to make sure guests had everything they needed. There was plenty of food and variety at breakfast, even under the circumstances. And my room was perfectly fine. The beds were made perfectly, and the extra pillows were wonderful. I would definitely stay at this BW again while visiting the Mount Pleasant area.

« Had to change rooms (because the door lock was broken) »

Not happy that the door wouldn't lock (had to change rooms after everything was already unpacked). No exercise room. Would have been nice if I was informed that the hotel is undergoing a major renovation. I guess you get what you pay for !!

    « Fine but expensive »

Hotel is fine. Rooms are clean. Major renovations going on so breakfast was in small room and choice was not good. Area was safe and restaurants nearby. About 10min drive to downtown Charleston. Overall expensive as I've stayed in hotels for $60 that would be as good as this but cause this is Charleston!!!

    2
« Beware of major renovations taking place »

Reservation confirmed via Booking.com and was not aware of renovations taking place. After our stay I was advised that in fine print on website at bottom is the following: "The property will be going through renovation works from Tues 23 Feb 2016 until Tues 31 May 2016. During this period, guests may experience some noise or light disturbances, and some hotel facilities and services may not be available." The main entrance is closed & office is temporarily located in a guest room. Breakfast area is also closed & temporarily located in another guest room that is not large enough to adequately accommodate guests. Hallways were extremely dirty and weren't vacuumed during the 3 nights we stayed there. Refrigerator and a/c unit did not work in one of our rooms and it took 3 irons before we found one that worked.

« Get me out of here »

The place is old, dirty and the staff are not helpful at all. The breakfast was terrible and the staff managing the breakfast room, due to the hotel having reception renovations, was dressed in the dirtiest uniform I have ever seen. The only good part of this place is the location. This place is only a one star. For this place to compete with the lovely hotels being built next door they will have to completely renovate. Really it was very disappointing. I would not stay here again.

    « Under Reconstruction »

Hotel office, lobby and breakfast area are under a total rebuild. You must enter the hotel through side door to the right. This is the smoking area for employees and guests so hold your breath. Breakfast was standard fare with a very nice lady keeping everything stocked. The breakfast area room is very small and feels like a guest room converted into an eating area. BEWARE: IPhone app for maps doesn't work very well in this area...you'll go round and round in circles.

Under renovation. One bed look and smelled like it had not been changed. If it had been the only bed I would have demanded fresh sheets. The other bed seemed okay, but couldn't be sure. There is no screen in window to keep bugs out if you attempt to open them. The electrical cover plates are bent. Carpet is old and stained and appears dirty. Reception was under construction and we had diffilculty finding the check-in area. Pool is seasonal only When I mentioned to staff I wanted to change rooms it was indicated that my room was no different than any of the other on site. Check in and checkout, and breakfast staff were great!

    « Horrible! »

My husband and I travel to Charleston yearly. We love the area. Each time we enjoy staying different places. This time we chose patriots point. We love Best Westerns and found this one close and in our budget. When we pulled up the first thing we noticed was there was no lobby. As others mentioned the hotel was under construction and no warning. We got there late (after 11) so he went in the side door/ makeshift lobby in a room. He got our room and when we went up our room key wouldn't work. Apparently that room you had to turn the handle up. Not down like a normal door. We had asked for two queen beds in our reservation. We get inside and there is one queen and a sofa bed. No sheets on the sofa bed. My husband went down and the guy at the counter told him that someone should have called us because we were upgraded to a suite. This was no upgrade. Trust me. So being exhausted we tried to make the best of it. The next morning my husband went to talk to the manager. She said we had been given the wrong room. So she keyed two new cards to the room we were supposed to have received the night before. While she did acknowledge the mistake from the guy the night before our journey didn't end there. My husband went to check the room and there were people in the room. Long story short they were booked with no other rooms. They begrudgingly comped our room and we went and stayed elsewhere. We asked to speak to someone and no one has acknowledged the situation this was March 24th. We called beat western corporate and they said being a franchise that they could so as they wish. Horrible experience!!! Would not recommend this at all!

« Thoroughly enjoyed our stay »

The room was very large and very comfortable with more than adequate seating, which is often hard to find. The hotel was undergoing renovation, but it did not bother our stay at all. Bedding was comfortable and staff was very pleasant. There is a lot to see and do in this area, just a hop and skip from Charleston. We enjoyed taking the water taxi to Charleston for our tour...fun experience for our grandson. The water taxi operator was very pleasant and answered all the questions our grandson had. Breakfast was good as well.

These are not my first impressions-we have stayed here several times-it makes me wonder if there's a new owner? Lobby closed due to remodeling-had to enter through side door-temporary office set up in one of the guest rooms The desk said I didn't have a reservation-had to show her the confirmation I had printed off the online reservation Got to the assigned room and found out they had given us a handicap accessible room which we had not requested. This is still puzzling since it's not the first time this has happened. At least the other time they gave us a different room, this time they said all the rooms were reserved. Because of the remodeling, the breakfast was moved to a guest room which you can imagine was a joke. The wifi connection was slow much of the time-third day couldn't access at all-walked to other end of hotel hallway and had a strong signal A minor thing but the remote was broken (the scroll button would not work). Needless to say I couldn't recommend this Best Western to a friend neither will plan on staying here again.

This hotel is under construction and we were not advised. We were given the first room next to the exit door. The room had an odor in it which was not nice. Upon arrival at reception (which was in a hotel room due to construction) one of the guest services people was playing on her phone and didn't even acknowledge us. The room was clean, the amenities were nice, but this was not a spectacular visit. The hotel needs to up their game on professional and customer service. The one positive thing was the lady who was working the breakfast (in a hotel room due to construction); she was sweet and kind, always asking how everyone was. She was the highlight of the stay. I wish I could remember her name.

« Nice stay but currently under renovation »

I have stayed at this hotel several times previously. It is a nice hotel but currently the lobby is under renovation and checkin is done in a room on the 1st floor and breakfast is in a room on the 2nd floor. I am sure it will be wonderful when complete. This hotel is so easy to access and is convenient to go anywhere in the Charleston area.

    « happy in Charleston »

BW is a great location to downtown Charleston without paying the extremely high prices of the hotels in the area. There was lots of restaurants and shopping close by....all in walking distance. Staff at the hotel were very helpful pointing out where to eat, what to see in the area and in this instance they working out of a guest room as the hotel lobby was under construction. No complaints by the staff who checked us in and/or the ones that checked us out. We had a 2 guest voucher for the Mangnolia Plantation but we were unable to go so we wanted to pass this Free voucher for one of them to use. Instantly one of the staff said she had a guest who was staying with them for the last five days and she thought he would be very happy to have it. I was impressed that she instantly thought of a guest and not herself. That is loyalty. If you stay at BW in Mount Pleasant you will not be disappointed of its overall great value. We had a very enjoyed stay.

Under Reno.. Stated on website but when booking no mention of this. When checking in I commented on this to the employee and was pretty much ignored... Next our plans had changed so we had to cancel the second night as I originally confirmed a 2 night stay. the young man told me we would be charged for second night.. I reminded him of a 24 hour cancelation and I was within the 24 hour time. Ok got that straight...I think? Also while checking in we were told 3 times NO SMOKING and NO PETS had to initial 3 places on contract that I was informed of their rules . As if that weren't enough they had a laminated sign in room to make sure you understood! I am a smoker but also an adult. I am wondering really what kind of quests are staying here at this point. Lobby area a joke as well as breakfast area and what was offered. So disappointed.. Last but not least when checking my bank account the next day after returning home I have a charge for FULL amount for 2 nights on card.. Oh did I mention we paid cash to the "friendly employee"for the one nights stay on arrival? Needless to say I had to wait for manager to be on site to review my charges. She assured me my card would be credited back in 2-5 business days... And the employee had ran the card pre-arrival? Advise to travelers pay a little more and stay at Hampton Inn right behind the property.. What a mess of a trip!!!!!!!

This hotel may be fine after they finish, but it was a mess. Renovation under way. Not good. Lobby closed. Breakfast in a hotel room, very cramped. Plastic over entrance and doors. Ran out of towels. I would like to know my hotel is under construction before arriving.

    « Disappointed »

After staying at the Roanoke Rapids Best Western and giving it 5 stars, Patriots Point was the exact opposite. First of all, it was under renovation and no one told me. While it is noted on the web site, I called the reservation number in order to get the room. They should have told me but didn't (according to a staff member of the hotel). The room was old and worn. The breakfast wasn't nearly as good as the other Best Western AND because the hotel was under renovation, breakfast AND hotel lobby is now being held in guest rooms. Not my cup of tea. And inconvenient to boot. Even the grounds weren't up to par. Sorry, but you asked.

    « Location! »

This hotel is under construction, but they have taken every precaution to make sure the hotel is still clean and running properly. Location is simply unbeatable, much like the price. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip down south!

A great place to stay with great value. Currently the place is under construction but you would not know it. Location is great and minutes from downtown. Staff was beyond amazing. Very helpful... We would definitely stay here again... Bravo Zulu

    « Location. Location. Location. »

Great access to Sullivans Island, Isle of Palms and downtown Charleston. It is almost literally at the base of the Cooper River bridge on the Mt Pleasant side. Shouldn't take more than a few minute to get to downtown. Getting to Sullivans and Isle of Palms is fairly easy via Coleman Blvd. Going north on 17 can be congested depending on the time of day. The hotel looks like it is undergoing some renovations. The interior reception area is a little dated. But the rooms had been updated and were good for a 2-star hotel, even if they are a little on the small side. The breakfast was typical hotel breakfast - cereal, waffles, bacon, boiled eggs, oatmeal, etc. The lady who worked the breakfast was fantastic. Had a smile on her face, greeted everyone warmly and made sure everything was stocked and that no one needed anything. They need to make sure they keep her around. The hotel was perfect for a quick getaway where we spent most of our time out of the room. We went to Boone Hall Plantation and downtown Charleston on the two days that we were there. I'm a runner and enjoyed being close enough to the bridge to be able to run without getting in a car. Thanks for a great stay!

« Not up to BW's usual standard »

We stayed one night. The hotel is undergoing some renovation which means that there is a temporary entrance , a bedroom is being used as the front desk for check in, and the breakfast area is in a second floor bedroom. This isn't mentioned on the website when booking. Although we quite appreciate that when work on the building is being carried out there will be some inconvenience and disruption it is off putting to follow handwritten signs, check in in an untidy bedroom, and eat breakfast in a bedroom where the electricity for the whole room cuts out whenever anyone uses the toaster! The work is clearly needed as the rest of the motel is quite run down. Our room was clean and of a reasonable standard but there was no information booklet and the pillows were very small and not comfortable, and the shower wouldn't turn off properly. On the plus side staff were very helpful although we were not asked if everything had been OK during our stay when we checked out. We have stayed in several BWs in the last few weeks and standards are usually much higher.

« Best place to stay in Charleston area! »

This hotel is my first choice whenever I visit the beautiful Charleston area. Service is always excellent. Very clean. The Wifi can be touchy at times....but not horrible! And the cost is always better than any other hotel in the area. Its easy to cross the Ravenel Bridge to get to downtown, or head out to the Isle of Palms for the day.

    « Repeat Stay # 10 »

I stay at this hotel whenever I visit the Charleston area. It is convenient, clean, quiet, and reasonably priced. It is also near some good restaurants. The Guest Services staff is always pleasant, friendly, and helpful. One of the few hotels that I book in advance because I want to stay at that specific location.

« Good location; friendly staff »

Location is great - 5 minutes walk to the bus stop, drop off at the Visitors Centre then take one of the free trolley buses. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice and there was tea and coffee available all the time. We stayed 2 nights at the start of our holiday and then returned for our last night so that we could visit Patriots Point Naval Museum. Plenty of eating establishments close by and a large supermarket. The hotel is a little tired looking in places but both the rooms we had were large, clean and comfortable and were fully equipped with coffee machine, fridge, microwave, iron and TV. Good value when compared with hotels in the Historic District. Free wifi as well. Will definitely stay again if we return to Charleston

    « BW Patriots Point »

This hotel was an excellent value and the location was so convenient for visiting Fort Sumter and the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum with the USS Yorktown. Good food nearby. Hot breakfast and coffee always available.

    « Nice place »

We spend one night there, arrived late at midnight but our room as ready, clean and comfortable enough. The staff was very informative and friendly. The location is a hit if you plan a visit like us to the Patriots Point Museum :)

    « enjoyable stay »

It was clean, quiet and the bed was comfy. The breakfast room was clean and had a good variety of food. The man working the breakfast room made our stay enjoyable. He was friendly and cleaned up after us. Very hard worker. Close to our destinations. Bathroom was clean.

    « Prety Good »

This hotel is reasonably priced and in a convenient location which is easy to get to. Front staff is efficient and pleasant. Hotel is clean. We had a problem with a noisy air conditioning unit about 2 feet from the bed - but all rooms have this feature. Light sleepers will have a problem with this. The hotel ignores special requests (like making reservations well in advance and asking for two rooms close to each other). So, there is no point in making requests. Probably my rating should be 3 to 3.5 but, for the price, all things considered I'll go with a 4.

    4
    « Always clean »

We have repeatedly stayed at this location for its proximity to Patriots Point and College of Charleston Athletic complex. We always find the staff welcoming and the rooms clean. Rates are usually lower than competitors. They offer your typical hotel breakfast. We will return.

« Best Western, Patriots Point »

Good stay as usual, but Fox News Channel appeared blacked out. If that happens again, I will leave. I have stayed at Best Western most times when I travel. The beds are good quality and the rooms are clean. And good coffee don't hurt. But I was dismayed at no Fox News channel in my room.

« Poor housekeeping, poor maintenance »

We had 2 adjoining rooms and both rooms were not clean. At 1 a.m. we had to change rooms because one of the heating units kept defaulting to 87 degrees. The room we moved to had mildew along the bottom of the shower curtain and a price tag stuck to the bathroom counter indicating that the vanity wasn't properly cleaned. This is, by far, the worst stay at a Best Western we've ever had.

    5
« Great customer service and clean rooms »

We decided to say here because we went on a cruise and this hotel was close to the port and close to local attractions. We stayed for 3 days and there was 4 of us and the hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice and accomidating. There was a continental breakfast each day and it was very close to attractions so we could come back to the room and rest any time of day. Would definatly stay again.

    « Ok »

The Hotel has left his best days behind. It`s clean and safe. And all the surroundings are fine. But the staff isn`t really helpful and the room and it`s furnishing was pretty poor for the price we paid.

This is an ideal hotel to stay in. It is located just before the bridge into Charleston. The rooms are clean and the hotel personnel very accommodating. The breakfast was more than I expected. Food item selection was great.

« Worst Best Western Ever »

Found that bed linens were not clean. Body hair was all over both bed's. No housekeeping to change linens. Changed them myself. Night front desk clerk was apologetic. Requested the hotel Manager. She was not available. Requested that she call me. This never occurred. Breakfast - The breakfast area was nasty The waffle maker looked like it had not been cleaned in months. The coffee was nasty - undrinkable - and I am a coffee lover. Candy bar from vending machine was not edible ? had to throw out. The elevator door opening had excessive amounts of trash / drywall in it. Please note - we are Diamond level Best Western Rewards Members. We will not stay at this hotel ever again.

« Feel the Culture in the hotel »

A great location to do things in Charleston. The staff are mostly the Gullah Geechee people who were very nice and considerate. Would stay here again for future Charleston endeavors because of the great location and ride across the bridge.

    « Great place! »

We stayed for 3 nights and it was a great place. Got a two queen bed suite and it was really nice! More than enough room. Nice and clean. The girls at the front desk and the breakfast lady were wonderful !! The free breakfast was above average and filling. The waffle maker was a bonus!! There was also toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, yogurt, fruit and 3 different types of cereal. Juice and coffee too! If you can't find something to eat then you are too picky! An added bonus was the cookies in the lobby in the afternoon. I would stay again!!

« Best Western employs thieves and liars. Stole $500 iPad! »

When me and my family checked out from the Best Western at Patriots Point, we forgot our IPad in the room, next to the television. When we returned home and called the hotel to ask if housekeeping had found it, they said no one has turned in an iPad. And that was their final answer. So now someone has a new iPad, and apparently it's ok if you have thieves working for you, because we cannot prove anything. The management has been less than helpful, and it's unbelievable that someone can just blatantly steal at work, and still have a job. Don't stay at this hotel, unless you want to stay somewhere that your personal belongings are not safe. There are plenty of other hotels in the area, don't stay at one full of thieves and liars, and let them ruin your vacation, too

    « Patriot's Point Best Western »

The staff is warm and friendly. They murals on the hall walls is a nice touch. The windows even have a padded seat for you to sit and and look out the window. It is across the bay from Charleston SC. Patriot's Point Best Western is also close to the Civil War site Fort Moltrie. This Best Western is also down the street from Patriot's Point. At Patriot's Point is the WWII carrier Yorktown, WWII destroyer Layfette, and a submarine. Patriot's Point also provides ferry service to the Civil War icon, Fort Sumter. The Patriot's point Best Western is a very good hotel well located to explore Charleston SC.

    « Pleasant indeed »

The property, staff and accomodations were great. There is some re-decorating going on but in no way obtrusive to our stay. Each associated greeted us warmly. The breakfast room was a little small but the hotel was near ccapacity. Very close to all of the attractions we wanted to see.

    2
    « Really poor »

I had booked this room directly with the hotel because I would be getting in at 1am on Christmas day and checking out on the 26th and I wanted to make sure that was alright. The person I talked to said that was fine and said she would leave a note for a check in at that time and gave me the price and took my credit card information. Come 1am on Christmas when I arrive to check in there was no information about my early check in. The person at the front desk was rude and got on Facebook while I was standing there. I had no choice but to cut my trip short and just check out on Christmas day. He gave me the option to stay but for almost triple what I was told on the phone. Once I got to the room it had this strange maybe musty smell. The bathroom has long hairs stuck on the floor. Nasty. While the beds are comfortable and the free WiFi and breakfast are a nice touch the overall experience was subpar.

    3
« Room not as described »

The room was described as having a queen bed. The bed was smaller than a queen and uncomfortable, and the room was smaller than described. The HVAC was not calibrated correctly. The breakfast was average as was the service. The only above average things were the fresh baked cookies and the location which was excellent.

« Simple, basic hotel- nothing fancy, but a great place to stay »

My wife and I come to Charleston once a year at Christmastime. We've stayed at this hotel almost every year since 2008, and have never had a bad experience. It is clean, quiet, and the staff is courteous and helpful- I forgot my toothbrush this trip, and the night desk clerk comped me with a spare immediately. Like the title of the review states, it's nothing fancy, but if you are looking for basic accomidations, you won't be disappointed.

    « Okay Stay »

I stayed here Thanksgiving night with my family. It's a nice enough hotel. They had warm cookies out in the lobby, so that was nice. Check in was fine. The room was just okay. The décor was nice, but there were a few issues. The "up" button on the remote didn't work, which was frustrating. Also, the toilet continued to loudly "run" the entire time. We had to close the bathroom door to make it less noisy in the room. Also, there wasn't a toilet tissue holder in the bathroom. I know it's a little thing, but it's things like that that matter. Walking into the bathroom with the toilet tissue sitting on the counter was a bit off putting. I did see the free breakfast the next morning, it was sausage and gravy biscuits, waffles, cereal, danishes and coffee. I didn't eat anything, but I was told by a few family members it was good. All in all I probably wouldn't say here again, but it was an okay stay. Too many little issues to truly enjoy it.

    1
    « Dirty! »

The room we got was very dirty! In fact, we think that is wasn't cleaned at all since the last guests. Seriously. We found socks and other belongings (not ours) on the floor. We booked and arrived very late at night and we just wanted to go to bed straight away. The bed sheets had stains (did not appear to be washed because of the the look and feel of it) and it had lots of hair on it. I could expect this from a $10 bungalow in Cambodia but not from a $120++ hotel room in the US. We were simply to tired to complain and to try to get a new room that late. We should have off course, but sometimes you just deal with it and you never ever return. So a very poor maintenance made this to a not so nice stopover...

« Sagging mattress v. partiers in the lobby »

Cheapest hotel that wasn't booked so I snagged it as have had good experiences in the past with Best Western. Appearance was nice and staff upon check in was friendly. But then sleeping was another story altogether. First night someone let their kids loose at midnight to run the hallways and holler in the lobby area. Second night some gaggle of party goers decided to continue the party in the lobby until 2AM. I don't think staff did enough to quiet them down for the sake of other guests trying to sleep. You get what you pay for as the old adage goes.

    2
    « Our Worst Nightmare »

Let me first start off that the Staff of this Hotel was terrific. And the breakfast was good also. But the Hotel itself was not up to Best Western Standards. It needs updating, and rooms need to be cleaned a little better. The first room that we were given was 322. When we first walked in the door the room, it was freezing with frost on the window. We noticed there was a wining, screeching sound coming from the refrigerator. I called downstairs and I was told that we could change our room. The second room that we were given was 324 right next door from the first room. The refrigerator was a lot quieter so we were happy with that. Then I went to use the bathroom. When I sat down on the toilet seat it was so loose I almost ended up in the bathtub. So I tightened the screws underneath so it wouldn't happen again. But that wasn't all that was wrong with the bathroom. When you flushed the toilet it would run for a long time, and then would start making a gurgling sound. And did that numerous times though out the night. I proceeded to get ready for a nice dinner at Folly Beach. I reached down for the lotion that was provided for us to use, and noticed that it had been used by the previous Guest in the room. It was opened, one quarter used, and had grime on the bottle. Needless to say I didn't use it. And then the straw that broke the Camels back as they say happened next. We turned on the heat before we went to bed at 12:30am. The heater was so noisy that we couldn't sleep. We turned it down so it wouldn't go on as much throughout the night, but then it was too cold in the room. I sleep in flannel jammies, so I put on my sweater that I had on earlier over my jammies just to keep warm enough. I think that I finally went to sleep around 5 am. And had a 8 am wake up call. If you decide to stay at this hotel check everything in the room to make sure it works properly when you first arrive, so you can have the issue fixed. Will I stay at this Hotel again? Probably not. I have stayed at numerous Best Westerns across America, and this one was not up to the usual standards that Best Western strives on.

    « Needs some updating »

Overall, not the worst place we've stayed. The tub was stained, the carpet in our room was a mess. This was the first time that a Best Western would not let us check in an hour early. It was Thanksgiving and we had all day plans. Just wanted to unload the car instead of having to do it late at night!!!!

    « Better than expected »

In Charleston for a basketball tournament and stayed at this hotel for four nights. Staff were very friendly and the room was better than advertised (tv was bigger than the website said, and most rooms have mini fridge and microwave). Cost was less than half the rate for downtown, yet we were very close to everything. Bonus: we got to cross the beautiful cable stay bridge from downtown to Mt Pleasant at least twice a day.

    « best stay yet »

I had a 3 days business trip in MT Pleasant and I book my room at the Best Western hotel for 2 nights I wasn't sure on well the stay was going to be until I sign into my room. After checking in to my room, Right away I knew then it was going to be a good stay by talking to the front desk receptionist. And seem how clean as nice my room look the bed felt great. The receptionist ask me how long I was in town so I told her 2 nights 3 days. she told me if I wanted to get a room I need to check available prices and get one more night stay because the next day the rooms there was going fast. I know I wanted to stay there one more night so I did as she said and book my room for another night. King size bed the first night and a Queen size bed the second night. They had 2 flat screen TV's I had both of them on for an hour one on the New and Weather channel and the other one on my favorite show. I slept so good the first night I knew the next night was going to be even better. I was supposed to check out the room the next day after my first night then sign back in the even when I got off work. and I did but I forgotten my clothes in the room and the receptionist told me not to worry she will get with the house keeper and I can pick them up during my check in that evening when i got off from work. the stay was great the breakfast was great as well plenty of difference breakfast items to chooses from I told my co-workers they missed out on a great hotel with breakfast and a good night sleep they looked tired and hunger the next day for work lol. I was so happy I had to rubber it in their face. Thanks again for all the support Best Western Staff for making my stay the greatest 2 days in a long time. I really needed that and I will be back next year during my business trip again in Jan or Feb 2016

Michelle and Tiffany were great, as were the rest of the staff. Hotel was nice and clean in all common areas. The room was extremely accommodating. Hot Breakfast was always stocked and plenty. Loved the location- easy to get to downtown historic Charleston which is where we needed to be for the weekend. Also close to shopping and food!!

« So close to down town, and so much value »

Like staying in a hotel that charges twice the rate, at least and only 5 to 10 min away from down town. Much more then a standard motel. Clean and with all the bells and whistles. Could see if you had 4 or more you would think it might seam a little small, but for me a single senior the whole place made me feel pampered. The biggest surprise was the breakfast was as good as any waffle house, there was scramble eggs, sausage, and waffles, plus any extras you could think of. The coffee was so good it prompted me ask the lady taking care of the breakfast area who was doing such a good job, about the coffee, Turns out it was machine that used coffee concentrate which no mater when you arrived you could have the freshest coffee. Just another thing that made my stay. So thanks to all the staff of this hotel.

« Great location, great place to stay! »

« BW stay in Mt Pleasant SC »

We were attending a 55th college reunion. Have stayed at BW in past years/reunions. Had a great time. The Staff was great the room was clean and comfortable, especially the additional pillows, which I like because of hip, leg and knee problems. Being handicaped, both me and my wife, I liked being able to park very near the entrance. The breakfast was OK, the general stuff, I do not expect a $$$$$ style affair. The price was great for being close to Charleston in addition BW sent me a $20 off coupon. Other classmates staying in Charleston were paying $100-$200 per night compared to $80+- at BW. Only 15 minutes from downtown Charleston and The Citadel. At least 3 other couples and 1 single were at the BW with us. When we go to Charleston we will always stay at the BW. On our way home we stayed at the BW in Wytheville VA, off I77 no comparison, it was dingy, noise next door and upstairs, bath was not really nice, security was ?? and price was almost the same. We will stay at BW Mt Pleasant every time but no more BW in Wytheville VA. You get what you pay for, but why the difference within the same organization? I guess we will have to bite the bullet and try to stay at various BW's and see what happens, then check off the locations we will not revisit.

« A Great Place to go anywhere »

This was a perfect location and the service was well above and beyond the very reasonable price I enjoyed. The front desk staff and the breakfast lady were so sweet and welcoming. They did an exceptional job at making everyone feel at home and at rest.

« Very clean, super friendly staff »

A lot of the reviews I came across weren't that great, so I wasn't expecting much, however, we were very impressed. It was super clean and all of the staff members were so nce. We stayed for two days. Also, it was the first hotel breakfast that I've had that actually had eggs and sausage! I mean, it might have not been super delicious, but still pretty cool! Also, most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. It was actually SOFT, yet firm.

« Didn't expect much for the price, and was still a little disappointed. Febreeze commercial waiting to happen... »

While awaiting my parents to join me the following day at another hotel, I booked a room just for myself to attend a function nearby. I arrived in the evening (8ish), and then staff was fairly friendly and efficient. When I arrived at my room, there was an oddball character sitting in my hallway, babbling at me as I walked by....kinda creepy. The hallway and room had an overpowering musty smell that they had obviously tried to mask with some sort of deodorizer...but failed miserably. The room was hot when I arrived, but once I dialed the air conditioning down quite a few degrees, the smell seemed a bit better. The room was small but adequate. The bathroom was dated but clean. At this price, I wasn't expecting to be amazed...I was just hoping for a shower and a good night's sleep in an odor free environment. Although it wasn't the hotel's fault, I was awakened by the sawing and hammering from the construction site next door at 7am...You'd think they'd have an agreement to keep the noise down until a reasonable hour so as not to disturb the guests. Honestly, if they'd Febreeze the moldy smell out of this place, it would be a nice little bargain. How the staff doesn't realize that the smell is offputting is beyond me. I have been in hotels in Florida that smelled like this from flooding on the bottom floor, but mine was a 3rd floor room.

    4
    « Its Very Friendly »

From a practical respective the property is attractive from the outside ,is well located in a quiet location and has all the usual amenities expected of this chain. The rooms are fine and the property is clean. What sets it apart is the friendliness of the reception staff -particularly one night shift lady that we encountered -quite one of the best I've ever experienced.

    1
« First time to Charleston SC »

The front of the hotel is unkept with signs all over saying "lock it or lose it"! The front desk personnel were very rude.....they wouldn't even give me an "estimated time" as to when my room was going to be ready so I could plan when to come back. The room smelled very musty and stayed damp. Everything seemed clean EXCEPT the carpet....very stained and dirty looking. Our room was cleaned the following day except they didn't replace the towels (unbelievable) or clean the coffee maker (or refill coffee supplies). Breakfast was ok but cramped.

    3
    « No complaints »

We stayed here for 2 nights while on a road trip holiday and were quite satisfied with everything. The room was fine and the bathroom clean and tidy. Breakfast was not the best but it was the same as other BW properties we stayed at during the trip. Location is reasonable- a short drive to the ferry. Nothing outstanding about it but it was fine overall.

    4
    « Road Trip »

Nice property with clean and comfortable rooms. It's in a wierd location though and the staff isn't very knowledgable about the area. There are a lot more bars/restaurants in the area than it seems. A quick drive to downtown historic Charleston without the prices hotels of downtown.

    3
« Close to ports for your cruise »

Compared to the prices of other hotels in this area this place seems to be the best deal. If you are going to take a cruise I would suggest you Uber a van or taxi...hotel shuttle is a little high for a 10 minute ride.

« Great Value and Close to Everything at Patriot's Point »

We asked for a room on the top floor with a king sized bed and my requests were met. The furnishings were relatively new and the room included a refrigerator and a microwave. It was a short drive to the French Quarter. There were many restaurants close to the hotel. The room was comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.

    4
    « Caught Them Painting »

Hotel is within a half mile of the U.S.S. Yorktown as well as the Fort Sumter Cruise Line. The entire first floor of the hotel was closed off due to painting. Otherwise, the room was clean, and cool. (Room's air conditioner was turned off before my arrival). The facility was noise free. Hotel offers a good continental breakfast.

« Wish I Had Stayed Somewhere Else »

The desk staff at check in were awesome. We got to our room and everything felt damp, and there was a moldy/mildew smell. My husband ended up being sick from the mold. One day we left for the day, acknowledged the cleaning staff on the floor, returned to an unserviced room. The front desk got me clean towels, but that was all that could be done at that time. Bed was very uncomfortable.

    4
« Clean and Friendly Staff »

This was our second stay at this location. It was clean and the staff very welcoming and helpful. Typical continental breakfast items. The Wi-Fi in the room was not great on our smart phones. It was a quick drive over to Charleston and close to many great restaurants and the beach. I would return.

« Decent place, nice location »

This hotel is clean, quiet and non-smoking. Exactly what I look for when traveling. The bonus was the great location at Patriot's Point. It it convenient to good restaurants and the beaches. Couldn't ask for more.
