    « Return visit »

This was our second trip to this hotel our room request for the same room was accommodated. The front desk woman was lovely, friendly and cheerful. The other staff we encountered during our stay didn't even acknowledge our existence hellos were ignored. The quality of staff and rooms has diminished since Jan. Showering was haphazard with a shower head that was more likely to collapse than stay up. The hotel is undergoing a tv upgrade so the available channels are minimal and not enough to provide adequate options of an evening after a day of exploring. We would have loved room service but options were so limited we opted to get takeaway delivered to our door instead. Won't be returning for a third visit anytime soon.

« Great Location with Parking in the Heart of the City »

For a business trip there wasn't anything missing, Free unlimited Wifi which worked great in my room on the 5th floor, very comfortable bed and suitable bathroom, though I never like showering in a bath. Towels refreshingly large and luxurious after travelling in Europe and only getting small towels. Desk area also more then sufficient to set up laptop and work from in front of window. Reception also well organised and helpful.

« Worth your time checking in »

Second time here. In the heart of Launceston with everything close by. Parking good with docket from reception. Decor is good and rooms very clean. WIFI is fast and reliable. Reception was very pleasant and Effecient. Will be back next time in in town.

    « Wotif /mystery hotel: Under construction »

Mystery hotel /wotif hotel is the best western. Look no further. Don't bother. It's under construction at the moment. Looks as if it's about to fall apart with the cords along ceiling tops hanging out and open. Due to construction no/limited television Channels. Safety wise- the entrance from best western customer car park into the hotel is completely open. Don't need to swipe in. Anyone can come and go and staff can't see as this entrance by-passes reception desk. Dismal place. Book an airbnb or stay somewhere else! Not worth it.

« Good value basic hotel »

The lobby and location of this hotel are a little on the seedy side - off the main street and not well lit - but the rooms themselves are clean, comfortable and well equipped and the rates are very reasonable.

    « Lovely Stay »

Arrived at best western in-pouring raining greeted with warm smiles and positive support staff. Big comfortable bed warm QUITE room with fantastic water pressure. After leaving previous hotel after a few hours being welcomed with genuine smiles really made our night. Thank you.

    « Close to town »

Close to town walking distance to things easy access friendly helpful staff room was clean and tidy bad thing not much parking available for this motel would recommend to any one wants a nice but cheap place to stay

« Danielle is the best!!!! »

I checked into best western plus Launceston after a family wedding on Sunday 6th of November. Just for a relaxing few days to see some old mates. Room was lovely. Bed especially. Room service very good, delicious and very quick Unfortunately I became very ill, nothing to do with the food, and the hotel staff especially Danielle were very kind to me. Danielle went above and beyond her job to make sure I was cared for and comfortable. I can not thank her enough! I will always stay here when I return and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

« Good central location but........ »

Best Western Plus. I don't think so. Paid parking and not even a guaranteed place. Get there late and park somewhere else. Tried room service and ordered ham cheese and tomato toasted sandwich. When the sandwich arrived it was 3 mm thick and only contained ham?... It was however redeemed by a handful of corn chips thrown on top of it.....mmmmmm. Following complaint it was replaced but I visit over 100 hotels a year and it was without doubt the worst "meal " (except Dunedin) I have ever eaten in a so called 4.5 star hotel. Bed comfortable but stay well away from room service food. At midnight the theatre next door decided to load a truck parked in the street directly in front of the hotel with lighting equipment accompanied by much banging and shouting. They were finished for the night so why should they care. Admittedly this was beyond the control of the hotel but still ruined the night. At least i was there for only one night. All in all a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons.

Hotel was excellent, as we arrived after dining room had closed we were able to get something to eat, which was much appreciated, the king size bed was also a bonus, that enabled us to sleep well even after jet lag.

    « good spot »

great location, good bed. seems to be getting a do over in decor , overall pretty good. the one downer is the TV small terrible reception. complained but was brushed off with an excuse about the wind. but if thats not important to you go for it.

    « Great spot »

neat &clean .central to town ,very helpful staff.Stayed in October 2016 Double room with view of Launceston .Carpark was easy to get in and out of. dont forget to get car permit or ticket will follow.

« Our visit to Launceston »

Very handy to central Launceston.Average rooms for $167 odd a night..Staff at front desk very good.Had full breakfast at same Hotel a few years ago -Magnificent,this time Rubbish .Went down for breakfast at 9am. (Breakfast 6-10am) .No cutlery ,hot food rubbish ,had been sitting there a WHILE. -the food not us-As we got up to go they started to re-do all the tables for the next morning .Get down early .Did complain at checkout and received a potion of money back.Grateful for that. Just one thing for $167 a night by 500 odd rooms you would think they would invest in decent bed linen -Doona had stains on it.Thank you.

    « Tassie weekend »

was clean and comfortable. They need a little more infor about the TV we found it confusing ended up turning it off. with no TV was a little boring. was to scared to push buttons in case we ended up paying for a movie we never watched. also paying for car parking when we are staying at the hotel thought that was a bit much..

    5
« Central to the city »

Enjoyable stay, beds are very comfortable, close to the shops, theatre and restaurants, always stay here when in Launceston. Book out is 11am, so nice to have that extra time on the weekend to relax, have a late breakfast before going home.

    « last minute booking »

was booked in after a cancelled flight. the kitchen stayed open for us as the flight was cancelled very late in the day. check-in was quick as they understood we were tired. they offered us phone chargers as many had not planned to stay the night. room was a little dated, shower was hot but did leak a little. overall, the hotel was good for a quick stay

    3
    « Beautiful Room »

The room was everything we hoped for except for the tv not working or the espresso machine or the central air. We asked for help and we were told that there were directions alongside everything so we had a double check and found nothing and just spent the whole stay wrestling with the central air settings as we were a bit hot and uncomfortable. It was still a great stay thanks to the lovely spa bath and sweet house cleaning lady.

« We decided to try something new, but it didn't work. »

We always stay in a major city hotel, which is getting worse and worse. So we decided to try something new and go to the Best Western. Our thinking was that we really only need a bed, but I guess we need something more. The receptionist had attitude oozing out of every pore, and I don't mean this nicely. The room was in an awful state of disrepair, and overlooked a car park, and the general vibe of the room was completely depressing. On the plus side, the location was great. However I am starting to believe you can't get a good room in Launceston city, (walking distance to restaurants), unless you go to the waterfront which costs a bomb.

    « Excellent accommodation »

Had 2 nights in this hotel. Comfortable beds. Nice hot showers. Off-street parking. For the tech-heads there was a very reliable wi-fi service (free). We arrived on the day that there was a street festival on so were expecting a bit of a noisy night. Not to be. Didn't hear a thing. Has a couple of restaurants on site (Snappers Restaurant and the Tram Bar Lounge). Nice food at reasonable prices. Only thing I found a bit of a concern was that the shower was in a bathtub, but there was no suction mat on the bath tub floor. Bit of a slip hazard if you weren't careful. Reception staff very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

    « Great Accommodation .. »

The Best Western Plus Hotel/Motel in Launceston was the best of the major accommodation places that we stayed at on our recent holiday to Tasmania..The thing that impressed me most was the friendly and helpful staff at reception.. Nothing seemed to be a problem to them..

« Not suited to a light sleeper »

Accommodation was nice, what you need in a hotel room and nothing more. There was a lot of noise in the room from guests in other rooms though as well as noise from the halls so could do with a bit of sound proofing. Also found it strange that we had one of staff walk into our room at 9am on our last day to check the mini bar items. She knocked once and then walked in. Thankfully I had just finished getting dressed. I am unsure why she couldn't wait half an hour until we had checked out.

« Good night in Launceston »

We had a good night in Launceston & saw a fantastic "Always Patsy Kline" but it was marred by an appalling breakfast of disinterested staff and stone cold plates and food. Would not put it down for the dog.

    5
« Quality and Location perfect »

Love the Best Western Plus Launceston - located close to the city centre and nearby attractions, the rooms are ideal with extra touches including a coffee machine. The staff are really helpful..thanks for letting me know about the Airport transfer bus that connect to the hotel.

    5
    « very good »

The front office service was just brilliant we received a phone call that night to see if we were still arriving as the time was getting on as we got held up at the airport we got instructions how to get to the motel. Room services was then ordered for us as everything was closed I could not fault nothing on the service. As we were leaving the next day the receptions helped us with road maps and advised where to go. Just marvellous.

    5
    « Great stay »

nice hotel with great staff at reception. I had my CPA exam in the hotel and I decided to stay a few more days ! the restaurant is probably the best in the area and waiters were really friendly ! the recommendation by the FB staff was the best and the oysters were one of the best I ever had in my life. Having been my first time in Launceston , I have had a great impression not only of the hotel but the city as well. My girlfriend also loved it. I can't remember the name of the guy at reception but he was wearing glasses, he was a true ambassador of your property, keep it up guys!

    5
    « Our Launceston Base »

Stayed at the Best Western Plus on recommendation of Flight Centre. Found it to be ideally located so close to the centre of town & seemed to be only a short walk to everywhere. Staff were very friendly & leaving our bags there for a week while we did the Overland Track was no problem.

    4
    « Welcoming »

After an appalling experience with Qantas where my flight had not left Launceston 12 hours after it was due to leave I was angry and exhausted. Qantas sent me to this hotel which was the only thing Qantas did right that day. I arrived at the hotel and the man on duty had the room ready, I only had to fill in a few lines on a form and I was handed the keys and he told me they were keeping the kitchen open for us (I was not the only Qantas victim). In the space of an hour myself and at least 10 other Qantas victims went from feeling furious to being thankful. The food was good, the room was comfortable and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff could not be faulted.

    4
    « Great stay »

I stayed for business, the tram bar was great for a meals, and the buffet breakfast was lovely. The service at reception and in the restaurant was fantastic. I will be staying here again on future business trips.

    3
« Decent hotel, perfect location »

A bit dated as some reviewers mentioned. But clean and comfortable, no issues. Very decently priced. Parking available. Very friendly staff who were more than happy to advise us on what to see, how to get there, etc. Central location within walking distance of most things to see and do in Launceston. Would stay again.

    4
    « Great staff »

Yes, it's old, it's certainly tired and it's showing it's age, but having stayed there twice in one week, the friendly and accommodating staff more than make up for all of that. The room was clean and everything worked as it was supposed too and on every occasion, the staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble or effort everyone was cheerful that made a nice start and end to the day. For the price, it's possibly above where I'd like to pay, but all said and dine, nice memories, nice sleep and BIG callout to the great people working there, a credit to the hotel.

    « Neat and comfortable »

Although a bit dated, the hotel is neat, clean and pretty comfortable. Old style motel, the beds clean and service great. Breakfast in the Snappers restaurant exceptional quality. Prices very good and hotel located smack bang in the middle of Launceston. An interesting Tram bar on the first floor and when checking in we received a pint of beer compliments of management. Do recommend

    4
    « 3 night stay »

From my initial dealings with the Reservation staff to those on the Front Desk when I checked in/out, I could not fault the level of service/friendliness displayed by all staff. Great location. The Tram Bar inside the hotel is a hidden gem - Happy Hour and seasonal dinner specials. The room had everything that one needs, including decent wifi service. The hotel though does need to make a few upgrades/updates - the carpet in the corridors are mismatched and dated; bathrooms need to be modernised. Parking is $6 per night. If I do visit Launceston again, I would most likely stay here again.

« Highly Recommended Hotel in Launceston »

I stayed 3 nights in Best Western Plus Launceston for my partner's exam and both of us really enjoyed our stay. All staff whom we met during our stay were very friendly and kind, especially Ben, who took our booking over the phone and checked us in was great. All information and requested were passed properly so there was a taxi driver waiting for us when we checked out. The room was specious and cozy; it was very clean and the bed was just perfect for us. If we have a chance to visit the area, I will definitely stay in the hotel again.

    1
    « Great Staff - Poor finishes »

Room finishes where terrible! Hair in the bathroom, on the carpet, in the towels, on the skirting, very disturbing. Paid car parking?? come on! Expensive rates. Beer in the tram bar not cold at time of opening, had to wait for cold beer on tap! Breakfast buffet was cold and understaffed. Never again.

« Fly in fly out long term stay »

Being a fly in fly out guest for the last three months I have been treated like a king. The hospitality of all the staff was second to none. Being away from home is hard but all the staff have made it a pleasure. The rooms have all you can ask for and I can honestly say I've been in a fair few of them as I'm in a different room every week because I checkin Monday and checkout Friday Their beds are so comfortable that I look forward to coming back week in week out. The location is right in town with the CBD at your doorstep.Shops, restaurants and even the theatre right next door. The theatre has great shows and even got to see the Melbourne Comedy festival. The Hotel has the tram bar which has a relaxing atmosphere and even live music. The restaurant has a nice cosy atmosphere with excellent friendly Waiting staff that even match your wine with your food. Chef and kitchen staff eager to please what ever your taste buds desire. There new spring menu is to die for with fresh Tasmanian produce, tender meats and beautiful seafood. Not to mention amazing Tasmanian oysters. Wow. The best part of my stay was being fussed over and made to feel special. Working away and restaurant in every night makes you quite fussy and a bit of a critic but The Best Western Launceston gets my approval hands down.

« Had to check out and find somewhere else »

On a recent family trip we booked a family room at this hotel through Qantas. Normally a safe place to book, I was surprised to discover after having to wait 2 hours to check in that the room smelt so bad we couldn't actually walk through the door. Offered a second room which was not really any better. Found alternative accommodation close by. Its a shame as with a little investment the hotel could be up to standard. I travel alot and this hotel has recently changed hands, with no real investment in refurbishment to date.

    4
    « Tramroom Resturant »

Small and busy - had to order at bar but the meals were great. Moderate prices, but steak cooked to my requests and very nice Also had a kids menu for $9.95 which suited my dinner companion. The old tram was part of the dinning room and you could actually sit in it and have your meal.

    4
    « No Complaints »

The room was a good size for 2 adults and a 16 yo. Location was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy at the back of the hotel. We could walk into town and to Cataract Gorge.

    5
    « Quick stop over »

Great facilities. Loved the tramroom restaurant...very intimate. Be mindful that parking and bottled water is advertised as being included. This is still great value stay. Very friendly and helpful staff.

    5
    « Clean and comfortable »

The place was perfect for a young family of four. Our room was clean, beds comfy and bathroom had a bath (great for the kids). Booking breakfast the night before made it cheaper and the kids ate free - always a bonus! Breakfast was tasty and good value. Good restaurants are close by, easy walking distance and the staff were very helpful in recommending places to go. All in all a good stay, we'll be sure to book again.

    « Expensive & Dated »

This motel is dated & a tired, but is centrally located in the town. It is a pity the motel does not control its own parking area for the best interests of customers - outsourcing parking management has given customers a poor outcome. Being charged a 'discounted' parking fee on top of expensive accom, & having to display parking permits on the dashboard & threats of parking fines & being towed away is just obscene. The carpets in the main passages were wornout. The TV was small. Restaurant staff were not professional & customer focused. There was months worth of dust on the carpets around the skirting boards in the room. This motel is just not worth the money - the experience was not pleasant.

    5
« Excellent value for money »

I was really impressed with this place. Ben at reception was very helpful and friendly. The beds were comfy, the room was spacious, good brekky and dinner. You'll like the dine-in heritage tram. Very central location. All round good value. The in-room coffee pod machine was a nice touch!

    5
    « Great value »

Great value for money and lovely large room. Service was great, room cleaned to a high standard every day. Bar staff were friend. Pool and gym available and short walk to Kamari beach. Great area of the island, close to lots of bars and restaurants

    4
    « Hidden Gem »

What a great hotel. Was very impressed, booked a family unit for 4 which had a queen and 2 singles, perfect for our family getaway. Very clean and the location is perfect being right in the city a walk to the centre, restaurants and city park. Had a car park out the back which was an extra $6 but we didn't mind paying that when you are right in the city. The free wifi was excellent and worked... Kids were very impressed with that and insisted we stay here every time we visit Launceston. The only trouble we had was trying to get in with the room key, took us a bit to get the hang of that!

    2
    « Best Western Minus »

Stayed one night and the only good thing about this place was the receptionist-Abby. She is the epitome of customer service and saved this place from being rated a one star. The entry driveway ceiling is in such poor condition, I honestly thought pieces would fall off. There is some sort of drain area across from doorway that has a hole large enough to lose a leg into. The carpets are filthy and stained, the structure itself has large chunks of 'damage' that someone has painted over very badly. The tram in the Tram Bar needs a good clean. The bathroom is about 30 years out of date and shows significant signs of wear and tear etc etc etc. Apparently this hotel is undergoing renovation but we didn't see any signs of this whatsoever. Really can't emphasise strongly enough how extraordinarily wonderful Abby the receptionist was-she made our short stay bearable, and went above and beyond to be of assistance. On a rather bizarre sidenote, we caught the shuttle bus from the airport (cost $40) and the driver had no idea where the Best Western was situated, said he'd never heard of it and asked the passengers were it was ! For $200 for one night, really not impressed at all and would not return.

    2
    « Marginal At Best »

Stayed here one night, wasn't very impressed. Not in align with US best western properties. Rooms were very standard. No fitness center. Super basic hotel in general. I know options are limited in the city, but was less than impressed.

    4
    « Overnight Visit »

We stayed here overnight after attending an AFL game at Aurora stadium. The location was good and a late check out at 11am was great. The espresso coffee machine in the room was an added bonus. Happy hour in the bar after the game was fun!

    4
« Good standard as Aussies expect »

All the usual room facilities including coffee/tea and jug which does not quite fit under the washbasin tap; cloths cupboard; ironing board & iron; stocked mini bar fridge; adequate TV and Free Wi-Fi. Good central location but on a side street so you may have to look out unless you come by airport shuttle to the door. Helpful staff, although some in the bar/restaurant my seem a little dismissive on detail. Some assume what you want, not what you seek (Straight Whiskey does not include ice). Rooms cleaned well every day. The Tram restaurant has a 1990 menu presented in a 2010 way. A special of fillet steak with pepper sauce, an updated Caesar (chicken) salad, hamburger with chips in a basket, etc.. All very well done and well presented but a management chosen old menu. Good breakfasts. Reception staff very helpful and most staff focus on the customer. (Except the restaurant manager, who focuses on his own way). I'd go back for value and convienance but not to impress a companion.

    4
    « Good value »

Stayed one night here with my husband. Comfortable, well equipped rooms with king bed. Free drink at Tramway bar a nice touch. Great atmosphere in bar with a tram in the middle of the room. Staff very friendly. Had buffet breakfast in the restaurant which was good. This hotel is well located and provides good value.

    5
    « Value for Money »

Conveniently located for the city and also for Aurora Stadium (the purpose of our visit). Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was functional and clean. Parking is easy and the cost can be included in the booking.

« Great hotel with fantastic staff »

After a few disappointing hotels in Launceston the best western was a refreshing change. The staff at reception were friendly and immediately welcoming. The upgrade options are affordable and great value for money. The rooms are nice and modern and very comfortable. Perhaps the only criticism would be the generic remotes for the Tv that don't really give you much option. The restaurant: we had dinner in the tram bar. Very unique. How often do u see an old tram in the middle of a restaurant. To get the whole experience of course we ate in it. The food was great although it came out a little cold but the taste more than makes up for it. A little disappointed that the other restaurant was undergoing renovations would have loved to try that too. Great hotel at an affordable rate

    4
    « Great stay »

Stay here whenever I'm in town. Very convenient location and parking is easy. I had a meeting in town the morning of my check in and they were only too happy to give me a car park pass early. Rooms a spacious and the wall mounted heater was brilliant - so much nicer than having an air conditioner on.

    4
    « Short Term stay »

The staff are always very accomodating for, parking and breakfast inclusive, rooms are warm not new although well maintained, cleaners do a magic job when you have little ones running riot, the tram bar is nice quiet and affordably priced, snappers restaurant is always good quality, generous servings and the full hot Breakky is a must. Centrally located affordable and easy to get around. The staff are a true testament to the running of this hotel, proud not prude!

    1
    « No sleep »

Hotel is in the middle of launceston with parking next door. $6 a day. Voucher available from reception. My room . . 413 was awful. Bed very hard and lumpy. Tv fuzzy. Could hear people talking all night and one poor lady coughing all night. Road noise was terrible. Walls are made of paper. The room was clean but there were stains on the carpet. The lady on reception was polite and efficient ? I wouldn't stay here again.

    5
« Great hotel, location and affordable! »

Very happy with our room and our staff. Staff were very friendly and helpful - even with our 4:30am checkout! Would definitely stay here again. Initial room was incorrect however staff corrected very quickly and we were not inconvenienced at all.

    4
« Affordable comfortable and well located »

Stayed here on an overnight business trip. Room was spacious, clean, had everything I needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located . Will stay here again. It was very affordable. The tram bar is great with an old tram front and centre. I have stayed in higher priced hotels in Launceston which were not as comfortable.

    4
    « Great Location »

Stayed here for three nights with friends - fantastic location in the middle town and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Happy hour in the bar every night. Service was good, room was nice with comfortable king size bed and very reasonably priced.

    4
    « Very well priced »

The room are a good size and very clean and quiet modern. The Tram bar has an old Tram in it wich adds character. Buffet breakfast is ok as well. The staff are very freindy and cheerful. Overall great value for the money.

    4
    « More than happy »

Friendly staff, room was perfect - comfy bed. Location perfect for us. 2 night stay was most enjoyable. The only downside was our meal in the Tram bar. Although tasty, it was basically cold except for the chips. However, it is noted the motel was booked out and the staff were ultra busy.

    4
    « A good stay »

Stayed here for one night after watching the Hawks at aurora stadium. Pros - great location and easy walking distance to everything in launceston, easy and very friendly check in, our room was ready really early which was fantastic, super comfortable beds, decent size rooms, drinks and early dinner at Tram Bar were inexpensive and delicious, excellent nightly rates available. Cons - the walls are quite thin and there was a bit of noise from the room next door and people yelling in the street, the property needs some love and a bit of a spruce up or modernization. Looks a bit tired. Will stay again when next watching the Hawks.

    « Disappointed »

The first night there we waited for over an hour and half for our dinner. There were only 5 other people in the dining room (and it was a Tuesday). Found it cheaper and nicer to eat breakfast and dinner elsewhere. Staff are friendly, especially housekeeping but overall sadly disappointed

    5
    « V good hotel »

On arrival, my room was immediately ready and I got taken to my room where the check in process was completed.  All staff was exeptionally friendly , contributing to the experience of feeling special and taken care off. V good hotel

    « Not a great start »

The room was quite nice and the staff were friendly. I honestly can't complain about any of that. Unfortunately I was stuck in a room with 2 single beds which I wasn't too happy about. But that isn't really the worst part. Initially they gave me a keycard for a room and sent me to that room. The keycard never worked. We went back and forth until they eventually gave up and tried another room. Went up to that room, entered, unfortunately for myself and another, I interrupted someone sleeping in that room. Turns out they gave me a key to someone elses room, someone who was sleeping. Finally got in to the room. As I said, neat, tidy, wrong sized bed but we got there. This place was disorganized to a point it ruined the slumber of another person.

« THIS WAS THE LAST TIME »

Firstly we were given keys to a room that was already occupied. luckily we heard a noise and did not just walk in as you usually do. went to reception and were given another room with a lame apology. Bathroom only had a shower over bath and was very dated as was the toilet with a dirty looking cistern. The room smelt very musty so we opened the window - no fly screen. Tried to put a bottle of wine in the fridge but the shelf was missing as was the bracket on the fridge door. I have stayed many time before and each time I am told we are updating the rooms - well I will NOT be back again updated room or not they have had more than 3 strikes. Also parking is $6 a night.

    « Average accommodation »

We have stayed at the best western quite Afew times over the years but unfortunately I think this will be the last ... When we arrived it was pouring with rain and we couldn't park out the front as there were already lots of cars there.. Went in and checked in .. We were given a room, when we went to our room I hard sounds inside, so I knocked on the door and a lovely lady opened the door! Clearly that room was taken. Went downstairs told reception and they said oh that's right sorry you the room next to that one.. So we went back upstairs and went in our room. The first thing I noticed was there were not 3 single beds but 2 single and a double .. Which was ok. Went into the bathroom and we were told the family room had a walk in shower, not this room it had a shower over the bath! Normally wouldn't be an issue but as we had a disabled person with us this didn't suit! When we called reception they to us we had been upgraded already ( to a room we didn't want). The room it self was spacious enough. But the fridge was broken and the shelves inside the fridge were missing. The toilet in the bathroom was peeling it was so old. The shower head kept falling down. There was no air conditioning only a wall heater.. So when we arrived the room smelt stuffy and wet. Opened the stiffened window but there were no screens on the window. There is one in the bathroom but you can't close this - it's always open! So you freeze at night as the door seal around the door doesn't close properly. The restaurant and bar are good and are also in the entertainment book. Breakfast was included and the staff there are lovely and efficient. The reception area is nice and open and modern just not the rooms! Free wifi in the rooms and carpark and is quit fast! Parking is a premium - there is a carpark but it's almost always full and its $6 a day.

« Tired rooms and disappointing breakfast buffet »

We spent 3 nights at this motel and whilst the location was good it needs money spent on the rooms and the breakfast service needs attention. The food was often cold and not replenished and plates were never cleared. Parking availability was also problematic. Disappointing as Best Western Hotels are usually known for good breakfasts and quality of rooms. The beds were excellent. The internet was very slow.

    « Great room. »

This was formerly the Mercure and maintains the quality, The Tram Bar is still there, great place to have a relaxing drink. The restaurant was very busy this night and service a bit slow. Was not impressed with the quality of the dish I had ordered, crispy skin Tasmanian salmon, it was dry, had bee sitting too long in the over I think waiting. Room was comfortable and a good sleeping bed. Location of this place is excellent for walking around the business area and some local attractions.

    « Little Disapointed »

Second stay here this year. Not sure what the plus means. deluxe king room not overly roomy. Poor lighting for work purposes. Smallish TVs. Room service and dine in with extended hours a positive. Beds comfortable. Shower facilites clean but again not much room to move. Car parking at added cost, not secure or guaranteed.

« Overnight comfort, verything worked »

First visit to Best Western Plus Launceston and was impressed. Close to CBD and the park, with easy access to get out of city Modern room layout. Excellent bed and clean room.Staff friendly and knew what they were doing. I was really impressed with what I got for the price paid, differently worth a thought when checking out hotels in Launcetson city

« Nice hotel shame about the neighbours. »

We stayed in an executive room on the 6th floor. Seemed recently renovated and was very comfortable. Great location right in town. Shame about the neighbours as even on the 6th floor somebody nearby was having a party on one night and it was "doof doof" all night until about 5.00am

« Terrible Service and Food »

I had worst breakfast in a hotel for two days in a row. Food was tasteless and very cold. The coffee was also cold and no apology offered even when this was brought to attention of staff. asides its central location, it has nothing to write home about. The accomodation was not well furnished and lacked basic necessities. This was despite me staying in a suite.

    « Very disappointed »

Stayed here on Saturday night. Not sure why this is a BW Plus. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded, the room although fine wasn't anything we wouldn't have expected from a standard room. Sadly the windows were single glazed and we were treated to the heavy beat of music until it was almost light and although on the 5th floor could even hear voices in the street. Breakfast was perhaps the poorest I've ever had in a hotel; service being non existent, food scarce despite 2 hours of breakfast still to go, tables dirty ... Thought we may have stayed an extra night but needless to say we didn't

« Best accommodation in Tasmania »

Staff are were absolutely helpful in every way and very friendly . Very nice feel to the room and spotlessly clean , as you arrive you automatically get the feeling that it is exactly how i have explained above, i would stay anywhere else. Very nice food at Snappers restaurant on first floor of this Best Western.

« Rocking tunes all night... »

Hotel staff were lovely, one in particular on night shift who was very helpful and accommodating.. Although unfortunately, I could hear the bar music alllllll night. Sounds like a lot of fun but not when you go to a hotel to sleep... Good location and close to restaurants

« Centrally locate, well furnished, delightful staff »

This hotel is great value for the price. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the linen and towels were clean and soft and plentiful, the toiletries were of a high quality. The room had split system air-conditioning which worked brilliantly and a well stocked mini-bar. The TV was smallish, had most of the free to air stations and some Foxtel ones as well as pay on demand movies. Unfortunately it is controlled by a proprietary hotel remote with limited functions (the lack of a "sleep" function really irritated me) The staff were all lovely. They were helpful, friendly and prompt. The hotel is in very easy walking distance to the city centre (5 minutes) and there are many restaurants and cafes close and a good old fashioned pub (Royal Oak) is just 5 minutes walk away. There are bus stops for major bus routes just 2 minutes walk away.

    « Very comfortable »

Very helpful staff ,after being stranded in Launceston because of the floods they gave us a good deal with breakfast included.the room was very comfortable and the facilities were excellent .,it is also close to the city centre.

    « Lovely stay »

Lovely stay here. Parking and breakfast were included in the rate, but not with all so make sure to check, and the staff was wonderful. Easy waling distance to the CBD make the location ideal. Comfortable room, though the bathroom is on the small side, the rest of the room had plenty of space.

« Beautiful Launceston Best Western »

Big beautiful rooms and the most amazing beds. Staff are delightful and very helpful - nothing was too difficult to organise. The room service meals were amazing. Very clean and modern facilities. I would definitely recommend this motel and will be returning.

    3
    « Needs updating »

Beds comfortable but bathroom old needed upgrade paint peeling of walls . Television didn't work asked reception to fix but stated to bad nothing we can do . Went to restaurant but only menu was room service one . Looked at internet menu but waiter said it had just changed. Such poor choice on menu.

What a lovely place to stay all the amenities that you need, We ate in the restaurant and had a very nice meal. The bar area was great with a happy hour each night where you can sit a relax with a nice drink or have a bar meal which was also very nice. There are helpful friendly staff, lovely clean rooms great room service. And a very friendly town to stay in.

    « Accommodation in Launceston »

Best Western was close to CBD, shopping, restaurants and the movie theatre .With in walking distance to Aurora Stadium. When in Launceston we would definitely stay there again. The staff are very friendly, helpful and looked after our luggage in storage until we were able to pick up our car later in the afternoon.

« Central and great facilities for conferences/meeting »

Location is perfect. Parking on site (fee applies), went to a conference here. Facilities are great. Food fantastic. Beds super comfy and rooms clean. There was a small fee for parking and limited spaces available.

« Great accommodation at good price! »

We stayed here two nights. The receptionist, Paula, was terrific - friendly and welcoming. She was happy do what little things like call a taxi and store a small obox of foodstuffs we had. The room was nice and warm in a Launnie winter and the king sized bed was fabulous - great size and as soft as a cloud. The bar was great - and the bar staff knew their job. We'd happily go back and stay there again!

    5
    « Business Stay »

I have always found Best Western Plus to be a great place to stay when there on business. It is central to the city and the service team have always been excellent. The rooms are well appointed and look forward in staying there again whether it be business or pleasure. Cheers Michael

    4
    « Simple and comfortable »

A king size bed that was very comfortable to fall into after a great hot shower. The tram bar has a home feel about it with a delicious & value for money menu. The Tuesday night $15 schnitzel & salad is great. The house salad was yum. Parking is easy & the central location handy to get around.

    3
    « Clean and friendly »

Stayed in room 202 Rooms very cramped especially as we had a low mobility room. In correct room given a checkin, however staff where very accommodating to assist. Great for families or couples would not recommend if you are traveling with a companion with wheelchair or assisted walker

    4
    « Good Location »

The Best Western Plus is a pretty typical hotel in the 3-4 star range. Its main plus for us was its central location to many of the choice restaurants and key attractions in Launceston. You'll also find Snappers Restaurant and the Tram Bar Lounge on the first floor of the hotel. Both are fine if you decide not to venture out for the evening.

    4
    « Lovely weekend »

Fantastic location in the middle town. Close walk to shops and the famous City Park. Facilities modern and comfortable. Luscious breakfast every day set up for a weekend of adventure. Enjoyed the stay. Look forward to our next visit.

    « Hotel is 3-4 stars , Service is 5 stars »

The hotel was ok for a 3 stars , 4 stars at most hotel. Room had only a portable aircon which works more like a fan. Try not to go during summer time then you will be fine. There are restaurants within a 15 minutes walk radius. Supermarket is a good 10- 15 minutes walk away. Should save money and go out for breakfast rather than wasting it in the hotel. Need to pay extra for espresso coffee which taste like crap. I would ONLY come back to this hotel because of the wonderful service of Danni, the lovely lady at the front desk / reception. She helped us in sorting the tour out ( we made a mistake in booking an early tour 4 hours away!) and was always pleasant and ready to help. After I flew back home, I then realized I have left my crystals in the room. Danni helped me to pack and mailed it back to me without charging me a single cent! Thank you Danni for doing me this big favour and the hotel should be so proud to have you as their staff.

    « Typical city hotel »

Our coach tour finished here. Our room was clean, modern and it overlooked the car park. Good toiletries and soft towels. We had a good meal for the majority of our coach passengers so 'mass' catering was better than some places we'd eaten at before. There is a part tram in the middle of the bar which is entertaining. The hotel is very convenient for walking into Launceston, about 2 minutes.

    « Comfortable stay »

I love this place for the location. It's really handy to get around and parking is easy. The shower was a surprise - hot water was instant which was a treat in the cold weather! Staff not quite as dedicated to delivering a faultless guest experience the Hobart equivalent but were pleasant enough.

    4
    « Always a great stay »

Great location, simple but nice rooms, If possible I always stay in this hotel. Close to Anytime Fitness Gym and town centre. The rooms are basic but have all that is required for a business trip. The Foyer is a little tired but one only passes through this area. I have not eaten in the restaurant as I always go out.

    4
    « Value for money »

Good location, quiet, clean & tidy room, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful receptionist. Free wifi. A good choice ! The hotel receptionist suggested us to view the marching on the ANZAC Day, and we had the luck to have nice acquaintance with the Australian veterans right before the marching.

    « really good. »

very central place to stay, rooms comfortable and clean, nothing special but very good. Room service was quick and food was good. Parking can sometimes be an issue, so get there early. Close to airport and express check out was very handy.

    « Wonderful »

Exceptional room with good quality appointments. Very quiet. Good food available and reception staff very helpful. Great value with the package booked Tassie Delights. Nespresso machine in room. Great location to walk to Cataract Gorge. Reception had a walking trail map to see local history. Very very pretty city to visit.

    3
« A Comfy Bed and Roof Over your head »

If your after a roof over your head, and sheets on your bed then this is the place for you. Basic comforts were available, but somewhat dated, which I guess can be expected. Grotty grout in the bathroom and a bit mouldy (perhaps due to having no fan) along with a shower head that a tall person received a serious leg work out trying to get my head wet, but this is me being picky. Tram Bar had a nice atmosphere to wind down after a days work, with friendly staff.

    3
« Good location, small room next to the laundry »

The location is perfect, to visit the city. However, we got a small room next to the laundry. We booked via Hotwire for 3 nights, so this could be the reason. The bathroom was OK, but a bit oldish. They have a deal with a 24h fitness around the corner for 10$. This was much appreciated.

    3
« no frills, large room but basic decor & fittings, handy location for meeting »

I booked here as it was a short walk to the meeting venue I attended, rather than staying at the venue. A few others at the meeting also stayed here despite it not being offered by the meeting organisers. Fairly tired looking exterior and not very attractive. Efficient friendly reception. Poky elevators, didn't notice if could use any stairs. Stayed on 4th floor, room opposite elevators but surprisingly not noisy. Large external windows with some view towards the gorge but blocked by city buildings, could see in the distance. Room itself plenty of space but average, non-confonting decor. Bathroom tap loose and moved with mixer but not leaking. Combined shower/bath with high wall to step over, ok if not infirm. Excellent wifi reception & speed in room, no problems and able to use multiple devices. Strange "wine in a glass" in the minibar, not game to try it - had plenty of my own wine from my cellar anyway... Had dinner there the 1st night, special chicken schnitzel, served plain with salad for $15 - what do you expect....surprisingly poor wifi reception in Tram restaurant. Breakfast variety ok but pricey ($18) for continental, didn't try the full cooked option. Not sure if I would stay again but not sure of other options in Launceston....

    4
    « Great room »

We stayed here for two night for work and ended up in a huge room with living area and a huge bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and the rooms were clean and quiet. Parking out the back is $6 a day which is disappointing but all in all a good place to stay.

    4
    « Just a room to sleep. »

With just a mere 18 hrs in Launceston we stayed here at the best western. My partner and I were upgraded to a superior room ..... There was nothing superior at all about it except we were on the top floor. The rooms were just average with a bed, ensuite, chair, desk and mini bar. The linen and pillows were beautiful. Really close to everything and easily accessible but once again just a hotel.

« Staff make the place »

The staff make this place. From check in to check out I was taken care of by funny and loving staff members. I only had 1 night but everyone was happy for a good chat and a laugh with me. Anything I wanted at 2am in the morning was pretty much sorted for me Good sized rooms and comfy bed close to centre of town. Will be coming back for sure.

    3
    « Trambar »

Serving size compared to pricing is very poor. I had about $6, $8 if Im generous, of food on my plate and I paid $29! I know there are other costs but considering those also I was very disappointed. One of our party had Atlantic Salmon and I don't think the chek could have found a smaller fillet if they'd tried and then it came with this measly bit of salsa. Nothing else substantial at all. No chips, no baked potato or anything else. We eat out often and get to know serving sizes. This will not be a place we will return to any time soon.

    5
    « Football Trip »

I can highly recommend spending a weekend in Launceston to see an AFL game. The Best Western Plus is centrally located so you can walk to the ground. They also have room service which is great when you have had a long day and want to rest. It is also close to the Princess Theatre (next door) so is perfect if you want to see a show. One tip if you have hired a car, instead of going straight into Launceston city go to Evandale and try the delicious wood fired oven treats at their bakery.

    4
« Friendly staff, peaceful surrounds, scenic views »

Nice place to stay with family, close to shops, restaurants, short walk to Woollies, no plastic bags for shopping, remember to take your own Brekky starts at 7 am on weekends, kids enjoyed free brekky... Room is clean and tidy, shower head was bit loose but was working ok... Overall, it was a good deal for the price paid...will visit again for sure..,

    5
« Friendly and well presented »

The reception staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and were only to happy to assist re information on Launceston. The room was extremely well presented. Attended the restaurant for breakfast which was good quality food which was excellent value.

    4
    « Great Location »

A short walk to all the main city centre attractions and stores, Best Western is a great choice for anyone travelling to Launceston. Avoid in the summer months however, as there is no air conditioning offered in rooms

    3
    « Convienetnt location »

Booking in was a breeze, staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had a nice view. The beds were comfortable, the room was close proximity to the lift. The bathroom however was not at all clean, the shower glass was dirty, not only with old water stains, but soap scum. The floor looked like it had not been vacuumed in a while and certainly not washed, there was hair not belonging to either of us on the floor. Overall cleanliness could be improved.

    4
    « Good location »

Very comfortable bed. Very well located and affordable. One slight annoyance- the room had the usual spiel about hanging up your towels if you didn't want them washed. Being environmentally concious we did this but they still replaced the towels. The next day we thought we'd solve the problem by putting up the "do not disturb" sign so the room wasn't serviced, but they still left us new towels outside the door.

    « Saf »

Old and shabby. This is the start of a trip planned for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Disappointing start. Bathroom look tired and the shower is awful. Staff very friendly, would have been nice if they had replaced the coffee for this morning.

« Far from maddening crowds »

We travelled by Spirit of Tasmania Cruise from Sydney to Davenport in Tasmania and drove to Launceston..after ten days stay at Melbourne and Sydney,it's a great relief to stay at Launceston..Best Western is pretty hotel located in centre of CBD, staff are very cordial and guided is in exploring the best in and around Launceston. It's a little town free from maddening crowds and quite friendly people. Everything closes by 9.30 pm and one has to plan in advance the great places to travel such as Cradle Mountain and Cataract Gorge...the town reminds of some forgotten ancient place with contented population. I wish we could have spent at least two weeks in Tasmania as it offers pristine beauty and freshness around. Few pictures of Cradle Mountain and Cataract Gorge are here.

« Great place to stay »

great place to stay with very friendly staff..the rooms are clean and internet is always fast. i would recommend this hotel for anyone going to Launceston. parking is quite cheap compared to every where else.

    3
« OK but Overall Average »

Beds comfortable. Shower poor flow and narrow tub. No A/C (which usually isn't needed). Rugs look like they need cleaning. Quiet room. Fast wifi. No nightstand between beds was inconvenient. Breakfast very complete. OK but just not a 4-star or 5-star property. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

    4
« Strictly for business only? »

Just a one night stay. Convenient location, comfortable beds, nice staff. Negative: the in house bar closed at 9pm eliminating the opportunity to chill over a nightcap within the hotel as we had arrived late. Dining Room: it lacked atmosphere at breakfast time. The buffet was fine but the dining room felt dated. Also a little effort in presentation could brighten the decorum of the room. Items such as table cloths on the tables for example. As stated the food was OK but the breakfast experience was a little deflating.

    3
« nice location with common room quality »

location is nice, quiet while the parking is not free, $6 perday. close to the main street and restaurant. you can walk to the most busy street within 5 minutes. room is fine but old and dark, but clean basically. nice staff and free wifi :)

« Great Hotel in City Centre »

Very comfortable room / bed / tea & coffee making facility etc. Breakfast was excellent ? we particularly liked the delicious fruits and the cooked choices ? good value for money too. Good parking arrangements with lift into the hotel. Not much of a view from our room - looking out onto nondescript looking buildings.

    3
    « unorganised and unhelpful »

Room was set up with a rollaway bed, as per the booking, every other factor was set up for two people. Two towels, two coffee pods etc.... Went to reception to ask for another towel and let them know that the rollaway bed mattress was ridiculously thin and the metal bar half way along the bed was digging into my sons back and could they do something about it. We went out for the evening and when we returned there was a towel on the end of the bed and nothing else had changed. My son said it was more comfortable sleeping on the floor!

    4
    « REAL DEAL »

The hotel is just right at the city centre. Rooms are clean and spacious. Good buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Real deal for the price! The only problem we had was the car park. Not many car park spaces

« I am a female and I had to ask for help with my luggage! »

I booked in around 6pm after travelling a long way on 2 different planes so I arrived very tired but no one offered to help me with my luggage so I had to ask then they charged the earth for the room at least the wake up call was free but no breakfast included

« Comfort, Convenient and Close to City, »

First time I have used Best Western. It was conveniently located, close to city. Easter weekend meant that many shops and services were closed due to public holidays, but the essentials were open and that's all we needed. Parking was cheap enough if needed. The room was adequate, king size bed that was very comfortable. Required use of the portable fan, which was working but needed to be replaced as some of the functions didn't work. Didn't use the restaurant facilities. Buffet breakfast expensive and wanted to explore some local cafes. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Free Wifi. Explored the Cataract Gorge which and local park with the monkey exhibit. Most interesting.

    4
« Comfortable and close to the city centre »

The room was comfortable and fresh, bed was one of the best i have found in a hotel. Close to the CBD and shopping areas. Launceston is the gate way to the Tamar valley. Worth a trip up the valley to Brady's Lookout and nearby wineries.

« Ok, but don't expect too much... »

The location of this place is very convenient if you want to be in the city centre. It's a place that's been around for a number of years now and despite a bit of a face lift it still looks basic and a little tired. The room was had was at the front of the hotel, so you could hear the traffic noise, but thankfully the bed was extremely comfortable making for a very pleasant sleep. There was portable air conditioner, but that wasn't very effective, thankfully there was also a fan which was much more effective. The staff were friendly and pleasant and if you don't expect too much this hotel is ok.

    4
« Conveniently located and very comfortable but parking poor »

A very comfortable room with a king sized bed. Well located within relatively easy walking distance to river and shops. Parking was a problem and there were no available spaces on one night so had to park on the street and then move car in the morning

    3
« One side of hotel is very noisy! »

We stayed here as part of a work trip a few weeks ago - it's your standard basic hotel. Clean spacious rooms with standard bathroom. Standard hot breakfast buffet. One BIG tip though, is try to get a room on the opposite side of the entrance side. I stayed in a room facing the entrance side, there are local hoons driving around being noisy PLUS there's the Launceston Town Clock that does a full chime every hour, on the hour, as well as a short chime every 15 min past the hour. I was exhausted after a full day of travelling and did not appreciate still hearing the chimes past midnight. I guess this is no fault of Best Western, but a tip to anyone wanting to stay here. My colleagues who had rooms facing the other side said they didn't hear a thing.

    5
« well situated to shops »

the staff could not do enough to help, food was enjoyable at the tram bar and the king size bed was the best for comfort. we were in close to most of the points of interest and shops. Walking distance to boags and the motor museum too

    4
« Better than ranking suggests »

Reliable option when staying in launceston. Facilities here are average but the staff seem to be able to lift the experience to a pleasant stay. Rooms are nice, good size with nice furnishings. Only negative is bring your own shampoo, branded items provided are pretty average. Plenty of places to eat at nearby or enjoy in house menus which are fairly varied. You love to see a pool and/or gym added here to make this hotel a better option. This is my second stay and would come again.

    4
« Nice and central to city centre »

We found this hotel very conveniently situated, staff were very attentive and our room was sunny and clean. Bathroom was a little small but very clean. Bed was so comfortable with awesome pillows..the best!!

    3
    « Average »

found staff friendly but highly priced for what we received in comparison to other similar priced hotels. Was unhappy with buffet and actually ate out one morning even though it was included. also everyone can use hotel carpark if they pay which means at times even though you have paid for parking it may not be available

    3
« Very average.... Desperately needs an update »

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. Great spot but we won't be back. Where do I start... Carpets stained, curtains were filthy, bathroom needed a good scrub and it was very noisy. And we had a superior room ?? On the upside the bed was very comfortable. Very dissapointed

    4
    « Good value hotel »

We stayed here for one night while on holiday in Tasmania. Close to the best value in our 2 weeks of travel. This large hotel is situated close to many good restaurants and cafes. The bathroom was a little dated however everything else was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and pillows were perfect.

    3
    « Drab room with no A/C »

The hotel room was a nice size, but it was extremely drab. We were there on some fairly warm days and had to open the window and run the fan for comfort. They also have an evaporative cooler in the room, but no A/C. The restaurant meal was lacking and two people could not finish their steaks because they were so tough. The hotel is somewhat conveniently located.

    « Director »

We do hope in future we stay in this hotel we can have more facilities such as good Gym room and swimming pool. Also this hotel needs to provide us more assistance for the day tour as we need to book from the city tourist information ventre not the hotel directly.

    3
    « Over Priced »

OK location. It is an easy walk to most 'sights'. Easy to drive to and there is on site parking. Rooms are Ok but really dated. This hotel could definitely use a renovation and is really not a Best Western 'Plus'. Restaurant is Ok but it closes at 9:00 pm. Front desk staff are extremely helpful.

    1
    « Terrible »

It was horrible from the start. Key didn't work (had to go up and down to reception 3 times before they would issue a new key). Three beds crammed into my room. Mattresses terribly soft and old. Room musty. Bathroom very dirty. Felt like I was travelling in a developing country. I've stayed at other places in Launceston that far exceed this Best Western. MOST DISAPPOINTING and cannot recommend it.

    5
    « Surprising! »

Nice spacious room and ensuite, friendly and helpful staff. Better than expected facilities and well worth recommending. Great location but surprised to be asked to pay $6 for overnight parking. We had to leave early and having a 24/7 front desk made it easy.

I traveled with an overseas travel company from the U.S. and they put us up at this "plus" hotel for 3 nights. The hotel definitely needs refurbishing. When I got there, it had no central A/C. but a portable air conditioning unit which, when carefully inspected, needed cleaning from the dust and dirt. Needless to say, I didn't turn it on! Complaining did no good as the hotel rooms, which did have air conditioning units, were fully booked. I guess it does no good booking 9 months in advance!!! I plan to take this matter up with the travel company when I return home.. The room itself was adequate, nothing to write home about. The lobby was the most horribly designed for a Best Western. It had no character and looked deserted most of the time. The breakfast was average. . I'd definitely recommend a better place to stay in a better part of the city.

Clean and quiet for the city we ate at restaurant and staff friendly and food very good. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was also very good . We could walk into shopping areas and restaurant if you use TripAdvisor for restaurants the ones that are up the top fill up fast so book ahead

« Convenience, basic standard rooms »

Older decor hotel (no more than a four star) located downtown Launceston. Hotel offers parking, wifi, restaurant, air con, room service and coin laundry facility (washing machine and Dryer located on third floor), standard room comes with TV, a proper hairdryer, a safe, TV, bar fridge and kettle. The hotel decor is somewhat dated, however has it covers all your requirements, rooms are quiet, shops are within walking distance. I would stay here again if needed. I booked on-line on and got great rate for 5 nights around $160 per night, I needed to extend my stay by one more night and the rate the front desk told was almost double... so didnt end up staying with them its not a 5 star hotel....

« Drab Interiors, Power Cut-off at Some Sockets »

First thing I noticed was the drab interiors. The bathroom was done up in old-looking white wall tiles and grey floor tiles, a look-and-feel of bathrooms of the sixties. There is also no means of warming up the bathroom - no heating lamps or radiators. Some time during the night power to some of the sockets was cut-off. For me, it affected the charging of my devices. Also, the small fridge in the room was affected with water from melted ice running into the carpet. The safety glass covering of the light in the mini-bar was broken with a jagged piece 2cm long jutting down at an angle. I usually take snapshots of places I stayed in to remember them by. This is THE ONLY place where I absolutely refused to take photos of. It is that disgusting.

« Right in the heart of town »

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in an Ex King room on the 4th floor we got Seniors discount but payed $143 for Friday and $161 for Saturday and payed $6 a day parking, It was very clean and comfortable but a few minor disappointments, there was tea & coffee making but no milk when I rang reception it took about 20 minutes to get milk and the young man was sent with a Litre jug of cold milk. There were no biscuits supplied and the shower was in the bath which would be a bit difficult for a lot of the elderly patrons that I seen.We ate in the Tram Bar and Bistro both nights and it was great value and very good food, drinks at happy hour prices. the barman Antonio was very friendly and helpful, It is in a great location and that's what you are paying for.

    « Bit disappointed »

This is a four star hotel but it is trying to save money cutting corners and it doesn't create a good impression. I've stayed here a few times and it seems to be suffering from trying to meet a budget rather than provide a service. It's in a great location and should be striving to be one of Launceston's best offerings.

« Hot, noisy and cramped - never again »

At $299 a night this hotel is kidding itself. From the moment I checked in at reception I was unimpressed and it just got worse from there. The girl on reception was not welcoming - barely making eye contact or smiling. I was told that it would be $6 for parking in the car park next to the hotel - but there may or may not be spaces available - so if no space, we don't have to pay. Now, I'm not complaining about the ridiculously cheap price - just the fact that there may not actually be a space available and was not told what the alternative was - so I asked. 'Oh, there's another car park up the road but we don't own that one.' So one presumes that if you have to find your own park you just have to pay whatever the going rate is. OK, maybe I've been spoilt with other easy off street parking in Launceston accommodations. But then we went to our room. Hot summer day in Launceston and we discover we have no a/c. Yes I should have read the fine print when I booked - but seriously, I've never stayed in a Launceston hotel at $300 a night hotel that does not have a/c. Instead we found an ineffective evaporative cooler on the floor (with inadequate instructions) that struggled to even take the edge of the heat. We found an old electric fan in the wardrobe and plugged that in as well. These two combined with opening the window (with no insect screen) eventually made the hot box of a room bearable to sleep in - but open window with no insect screen in the middle of the city is not conducive to a good night's sleep either - especially if mosquitos are around. The room itself is very basic and small, though clean enough. The beds are the best part - actually comfortable. The bathroom is small and old fashioned, with a door that does not latch closed and a shower curtain over the bath - which again I don't expect in a $300 a night establishment. I had only booked this hotel because my first preferences were not available due to the number of events on in Launceston this week - but I can honestly say, that for the price, it is the worst place I've stayed in Launceston - and I am a regular visitor. Never again.

« Run of the Mill Hotel »

Having a flight arriving late into Launceston, we chose Hadleys as it provided a 24 hour check in desk. The room was largish, the bathroom small and the carpet specked with an array of small stains. The room smelt stale - perhaps someone had been smoking in there or it was the bathroom. As it was late we could not be bothered with the hassle of changing rooms and settled down for the night in a very large comfy bed. At 6am we were woken to the sound of either a group leader or group member knocking on neighboring doors to tell them it was time to get up. This was followed at 6.30 by another round of knocking to let them know that it was time they were in breakfast. We let reception know on checking out and they removed the annoying $6 parking charge as some form of compensation (although it was not their fault).

    « Great location »

We stayed at the Great western on the weekend. We were greeted when we arrived by a friendly staff member which is always a good start to a holiday. The rooms are very clean and a very comfortable bed. The only small thing that stopped me giving this a perfect score was the room did not have air conditioning so it was a bit warm. We did go to the Tram bar for a drink which is on the premises it was a lovely place for a quiet drink but they do not sell any Cider which really surprises me as it is very unusual for a bar not to sell Cider. The Hotel is central to everything and we did not need to use the car just walked everywhere. Would definitely recommend this place to stay and will definitely stay there again.

    « It was ok. »

We got it on special - would not have been happy to pay full price. Very clean, well located, breakfast was good. No air conditioning meant very stuffy room which the evaporator did little to touch. This affected our last nights sleep before tackling the overland trek which was disappointing.

    3
    « Room »

The first room we had was shocking . A old air con which leaked water on carpet .Bathroom was disgusting the back of the door had not been wiped . We got upgraded at no extra price . I would not stay there again . To pricey for the quality of the rooms ...............

« Huge Room with spa »

this hotel was so clean and tidy and the room we stayed in was massive. the staff were lovely and reception were able to answer any question we had. Food was lovely also, and very close to everything, the bed was fabulous we didn't want to leave and wished we had stayed longer

    3
    « Adequate but dull »

Our room was adequate but only just with no air conditioning. The bathroom was decidedly tired. The hotel is reasonably well placed to explore the town but it's biggest shortcoming is that it has no facilities available between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm and apart from the duty receptionist is virtually dead between those hours. The bar then closes at 9.00pm despite the fact that there were several customers still there and wanting further service. Food was acceptable but no more. I am sure there are better hotels in Launceston.

    3
    « Just good standard »

Value for money wise I would say it's just ok The room although small for a superior king size was clean and well appointed including a nespresso machine The breakfast pricey for what it was and we didn't bother with the restaurant as there are more interesting establishments to try nearby The walls are rather thin as well as we could hear our neighbour coughing throughout the night. If it was $75 cheaper a night it would be just ideal as it is it's just an ordinary city hotel

    2
    « No Air Conditioning ?? »

All I can say is ask for a room with Air Conditioning - without it, the room is fowl - they provide a small fan, and a air 'cooler' both look like they have been pull out of 1980 (dust and all). I'm sure it's just fine in the cooler months, but in summer with a window that only opens 20cms, diabolical.

    « Very enjoyable stay »

We stayed here several nights on and off in January and found it clean pleasant and friendly in a good location to walk into town and even to the gorge. Reception and checkout were easy and the room was well equipped and (for a nice hotel) reasonably priced. The bathrooms could do with an update and the one time we had breakfast in the restaurant most of the components of the "hot" breakfast buffet were lukewarm at best (common complaint I find). When we left early to catch a plane we risked the room service poached eggs and they were hot and not overcooked - so well done there. Free WiFi but no free parking. Very friendly helpful reception staff.

    « Nice »

24 hr check in was helpful as we arrived around mid night when most of things got closed in the area. 24hr room service is plus in case you are hungry. We been offered free car parking when we paid the parking on parking meter outside.

« Great place to stay »

Great location in centre of Launceston, friendly staff and ready to help with our needs. Rooms reasonably sized but could have air conditioning for future upgrades. Car parking was not complementary and therefore had to pay $6 per night for this.

    « Tassie retreat »

Really comfortable room. Great location & the staff were very friendly & accommodating. We had dinner at Snappers on level1 & was found it very reasonablely priced. We also had the buffet breakfast there & were not disappointed. If we visit Launceston again we would definitely re-book again.

« Clean, Friendly and Central »

We had a great stay in Jan16. The staff were terrific with lots of local knowledge and so keen to help! A good value for money place to stay in the heart of Launceston and a short trip to many attractions like the Tamar Valley wine route. Parking is also available on site.

« Comfortable room, relaxing atmosphere. »

Very welcoming by staff at check in. Room was clean, comfortable and created a relaxing atmosphere. Great location, waliking distance to the City Park and eateries. In house restaurant was very good. The Tram Restaurant has good food, but service was a little slow.

    « Comfortable room »

The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable, Wifi was good, no safe in the room. The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. The lounge was nice. I think most anyone would be comfortable staying at this hotel.

« Comfortable room, great location »

Very easy access to central Launceston and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Didn't dine at the restaurant - the menu indicates at the bottom of each page that there are GF & V options, however none of the menu items have either next to them! There are plenty of dining options within walking distance which afford ample choices. Parking was very easy via a voucher for the paid car park right next door.

« Just the usual hotel room but most staff good »

What can you expect from a hotel room? One room, cramped conditions, the usual issues. The fridge was ancient and chock full of mini bar rubbish. The towels were fluffy and nice, however. One staff member gave the others a bad name by his hopelessness regarding a towel that wasn't put back after the room was serviced. He had to be phoned twice and then delivered it with his phone up to his ear and no apology. The other staff members were very helpful and polite. Photo shows view from bathroom.

« Happy with what we paid for. »

Read a few complaints, but this place met all our expectations. About $153 a night that gave us a king bed, air conditioning , free parking and free wifi and a view. Had room service one night and food was pretty good, but a little pricey. Beds very comfy, fridge in room, complimentary toiletries, free printing of boarding passes. Location good also. Would I stay here again? Yes.

« Poor Value to No Value for the Price, Stay Elsewhere »

Price Tues. night was NZ$179.00(US$129.77) and Wed. night NZ289.00 (US$209.50), with no explanation other than high season and the differences between the two nights was "supply and demand". No help from desk clerk when asked for confirming flights and transport to the airport; she said handle in the AM. Argued with desk clerk Re receiving BW points (she was wrong). Breakfast not included and no Best Western Rewards perks. Had one beer in the bar but it was very noisy so I drank my beer and left. GOOD NEWS ......the Royal Oak Hotel around the corner has a very good pub and food. Room lights were so dim, made reading impossible. Bathroom and fixtures dated. Tub if standing to use as a shower is dangerous since the corners of the floor are curved and slippery. Others issues, but no space here for details. Night clerk in the AM had no time to help and no one else on duty.

Stayed on the 6th level with city view .The room appears to have been recently refurbished, spacious, clean and bed very comfy. This hotel has a restaurant, bar and gym. Car parking for me at a ridiculous $6 per night !!Free wi fi for guests .Frindly staff.Good location; walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

« Very good location very poor customer service »

The room itself and the reception transactions were not bad. The location was very convenient. However I have to mention that we forgot a personal item in the room (our fault). The duty manager to whom I spoke to to locate it was not helpful at all saying that she could not locate the name under which the room was booked. She specifically said "this is not a good time". Was rude and the tone she used was not a polite one. Didn't feel very good about it for spending $169 a night. Don't think recommend staying at the hotel if you require good customer service.

After paying over $200 for a single night i guess i was expecting a little more .. old feel but clean. .clock not working .. air cond so small that was thrashing all night to keep it at 22c .. ok but would find somewhere else next time ..

    « Location is good »

The hotel is old. The room is so small for a family. The food is so so and I never see the restaurant opened. Maybe because that's cams season? but the location is good. It's next to the shopping mall. You can find everything nearby. It has free wifi. This is very convenient. No air-con. Is this same thing to other hotels in launceston?

« Great location and decent facilities »

I stayed with my husband and 13 month old son for 6 days in the Executive Room. Although the photos made the room look a lot bigger than it was, the bed was big & comfortable and had a great view of Launceston. The bathroom was a little outdated but worked just the same. Staff were very friendly and helpful although they did forget to get back to us a few times about special requests. The only two things that I was a little disappointed about was there was no microwave in the room & I had to keep going downstairs to have reception heat up my son's bottles, and the HDMI ability of the TV didn't work. My husband enquired with reception to change the TV channel to HDMI and they said it wasn't allowed. A little disappointed given the amount of money we spent on the room. Despite those two things, I really enjoyed my stay in Launceston. The best part would have to be the location of this hotel - very close to main shopping mall.

    « Good location »

This hotel is well located, near the centre of the CBD and walking distance to shopping, cafes and restaurants. I have stayed here a number of times yet keep forgetting that some of the rooms, particularly those offered at "special rates" don't have airconditioning. This isn't a problem for much of the year but can be very uncomfortable if the warmer months. Car parking is available behind the hotel but if you are lucky enough to get a spot leave your car there and walk around town as it is unlikley that you will secure another parking spot when you return during business hours. The rooms are of a reasonable size, adequately furnished and generally clean. Reception staff have always been friendly and helpful. On this occasion they organised a late dinner reservation for me when my preferred restaurants weren't open on a Sunday night. All up a good stay but I must remember about the airconditioning next time.

« Best Western in town. »

The hotel is nothing fancy, as it a Best Western Plus, which includes a breakfast in the morning, Nothing to write home about, as it doesn't cater to people with dietary problems. Rooms were reasonably kept up and staff were friendly but didn't go the extra mile. It was fairly priced and in a good location to a lot of things. I'd consider staying there again.

    1
    « Very ordinary for 4.5 star »

concede that it is very warm today, however would expect a 4.5 star hotel to have aircon. And no tissues! Were seeking an early check-in (12 noon) to prepare for wedding, requested via online booking - no response, called day prior to arrival and was told they would let us know - no response, called when 30mins away and very unhelpful and unwilling receptionist told us that could not guarantee and suspect didn't try. So guess what nothing available! Not unreasonable to expect at least a friendly attempt.

    « Okay for a short stay »

We only stayed a couple of nights & our room wasn't cleaned when we left for a few hours in the morning. Had to ask for clean towels etc. The cleaners saw us leave too. I read a review that said their room was opposite the cleaners room/stock room & the cleaners were noisy. Guess what? They were right. They were noisy & woke me up! Overall it was a good stay but the room was overly warm & we had to put the AirCon on through the night. Might be ok for those from Qld, WA etc., who aren't use to the colder climate. Lovely tram cart restaurant & nice food & ambiance. Very little car parking out back (even when you have prepaid for it. You have to get in early for a park for the night or you'll end up on the road with a parking ticket like us! Convinced the by laws officer was doing his daily revenue raising & very aware of the lack of parking available.

« Suite had space but lacked anything special... »

I decided to pamper myself by upgrading to a suite for my stay this time at the hotel... While I appreciated the extra space afforded by the living/dining room attached to my bedroom there was a distinct difference in the standard of refurbishment between the two rooms.. The bedroom was by far the better room... There was an ugly stain on the carpet of the living/dining room... Having a dining table was quite nice as I was able to eat my room service at a proper table as opposed to a coffee table.. Another advantage of the suite was the split system reverse-cycle air-conditioning unit which added greatly to the comfort level of the two rooms... The central position of this hotel is a distinct advantage... But after two stays here I'm beginning to feel a bit like Goldilocks...

« The best nights sleep I have had in a long time!! »

The location is very central and we went for a lovely walk through the city. Parking is only $6 and seems very secure (although this could be because we could see the car from the room). Check in was very quick and the customer service was wonderful, she explained in full everything I had booked and confirmed they were available till late for any dramas. We had booked the suite which was on the top floor. It was a great idea for us as we are a young couple on our first major holiday. It was romanic and very spacious, it seemed bigger than what the photographs depicted. We were very happy with the price which was around $300 for the night (through bookings.com) and this included breakfast but not the parking. We didn't eat at the hotel but could walk to the main part of the city for a large selection of food. Once back my partner went to run the spa to find out that our plug was broken (assuringly by the previous guests). I took it to the reception and they were apologetic and went to find us a new one which they said they would bring to the room when they had sorted it out. Within half a hour we had a new plug and apologises from the staff for this incident, my partner and I didn't care and knew it would be there if we were patient. We don't see the point in yelling at people who can't control these things. The spa was large and had room for the two of us to comfortably relax. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had the best sleep I have had in that week. We found out that morning that you can purchase the same mattress from the hotel through there promotion. I strongly considered this as it was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a standard buffet but was fresh, they were busy when we got there so there was food missing but this was filled quickly and we had a filling breakfast. Reception staff were very kind and were easy to talk to, we had a good chat before I checked out. The women next to us was talking to staff about sights nearby and they were polite and very happy to help her. The women who checked me out apologised again for the plug and explained that it had never happened before. Overall it was a wonderful hotel and we would stay there again of at other Best Western hotels in the same style of room!

    « Safe, clean, comfortable »

Overall, was not disappointed. However, expected a bit more as this is one of the largest hotels in a relatively large city for Tasmania. I have stayed in much more 'luxury' hotels for much cheaper, but it is clean, safe, and a bit higher end that the traditional European-style hotels that are popular in Australia. The room service was relatively quick, but they refused to order off the late-night menu because I called 30 minutes before the switch from the day/evening to the night menu (different items are on each menu). They also tried to charge me for two cars at check-out so ensure your bill is accurate so you do not get charged extra.

« Nice hotel, great location »

This is a good hotel, it's in a nice location and features large and clean rooms. The reception staff are extremely friendly. I found the bed not quite as comfortable as I'd like but maybe thats just personal preference.. Also the parking situation on busy nights is far from ideal.. The carpark was full during my stay but there is street parking available, if not on Earl street you'll find some on the next major street up the hill. The hotel offers breakfast but I had to leave before 7am (when breakfast starts) for both mornings of my stay.. Tea and coffee etc in the room is adequate as is the bathroom. The free wifi worked well and there were power points on both sides of the bed which is a rarity in most hotels.. Overall would recommend.

    5
« Very central and comfortable »

Thanks to Tom Tom we were able to find Earl St easily tucked away in the middle of the city. They had met our special request for blankets not doonas and we were able to open the window for fresh air. Everything clean and comfy. We had a king bed but there was also a single bed in the room which was a little squeezey but for the night no real problem. Getting into a bath for a shower is always a bit of a down particularly for short people.

    4
« Maintained the Best Western tradition of being well located, clean and friendly. »

Driving into the CDB of Launceston for the first time was easy, finding Earl Street was a little more challenging. Thankfully friendly locals gave clear directions to the Hotel which was right in the middle of the City. From then on it was easy to drive to and from the Hotel to the surrounding points of interest. Launceston, Australia's third oldest City has retained much of it's heritage; most of which is accessible with a short walk from the Hotel. Not surprisingly this Hotel echoed much of what we experienced at the BW Hobart; it was clean, convenient and had friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were well presented and were quiet ensuring a good nights sleep. The Dining Room needed to be brightened up and the breakfast was basic. Many of the Hotel guests would include some older citizens, therefore the shower in the bath was seen as a negative. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

    4
« Super comfortable large bed, great central location »

We stayed for 2 nights over a weekend and found the large bed super comfortable. The older style, front facing room was well maintained and partly refurbished, with pleasing neutral decor. The bathroom was very well ventilated and had a convenient clothesline for 'smalls' above the bath. There was some street noise at night, but this is to be expected in the centre of town. A group singing Happy Birthday around 11pm also kept us awake briefly. The courtesy computer in the business centre came in handy. Whenever the car park is full, guests may park in the driveway outside the lobby and leave the car key at reception.

« Good value room in a great location. »

Good value room with cheap onsite parking. Great location. Very close to the shopping mall and the cinema. However they only provided us with one set of toiletries in the bathroom, despite stating that there would be two staying in the room. But this was a minor problem.

    « NEVER AGAIN »

My daughter and I made this booking online with a package deal. We were told we would receive 2 for 1 dinner at the Snappers restaurant, free parking and a bottle of wine upon arriving. We looked up the menu and was happy with that and made a booking based a lot on this deal and the food on offer in restaurant. At least a month before arrival I rang to make a booking in restaurant and that was fine and rang a week prior to confirm and was all good. When we arrived we had to wait 10 min (in a 5 min parking area) before we could get out of the car. We were given a voucher for the restaurant and was told we could eat at either the restaurant or the Tram Bar Lounge to which we replied that we booked specifically the restaurant. We were given 2 keys to the room both of which took at least 5 - 6 goes before it would unlock the door. We went to have tea only to be told that the restaurant was booked for a function and we could eat in the bar. We were not happy at all but were tired and hungry. We ordered fish and chips. My daughter could only eat half her fish as there was a grey grissle running through one half of the fish that even the knife couldn't cut through. The barmaid did apologise and that was it. We cut our losses and went to our room. We later ordered dessert in our room and my daughter ordered Churros. They were soft on the outside and still raw in the middle. I rang reception and was told that was how they served them as they have to "tweek" the recipe as they don't have the facilities to cook them at a high enough temperature for normal Churros. I said but the pastry is raw and was told it was ok to serve them like that. They were not eaten. We had to ask about our bottle of complimentary wine as well. We paid $15 and bought a movie in house and 10 minutes from the end it stopped. The rooms themselves are very comfy. The shower is over the bath and is difficult to get out of. We did not get much sleep due to a church bell ringing every 1/2 hour close by. We hoped breakfast would at least be ok, but were disappointed. We were told we could choose to sit at 2 tables only (even though there were only about 6 other people there). The eggs were poached, hard yolks and rubbery. They did bring a plate of scrambled eggs to our table when we asked for them, but they were overcooked and rubbery. The only fresh fruit was a single Apple and some watermelon. The other fruit on offer was tinned. I thought I would try some toast but the only things to put on it were vegemite and 3 different types of jam that was in a bowl and not in individual sachets. There were no pastries (there was an empty basket with crumbs where they should have been). I decided to get a coffee and pressed latte and nothing happened, cappuccino, nothing, flat white, nothing. I asked the man there and he said the only one that worked was just straight coffee and you add your own milk and hot water. The man beside me said, so they are just there for show" and he replied yes. We were so over it by this stage and decided to leave. I spoke to a lovely lady Heather in reception who was sympathetic to our frustration In the end we paid for our nights accomodation (which was fine, except for the church bell ringing every 1/2 hour) and we paid for the 2 drinks. Everything else was waived and she then gave me a voucher for free parking for the day (upon which arriving at home discovered we had been charged for it). The whole experience was terrible and I would never recommend staying there. I am grateful to Heather for reimbursing us but it should never have happened.

    « Close to town »

We stayed at the Best Western Plus four 4 nights and the only thing we could find fault with was the shower. It was over a smallish bath tub and probably should be updated. Other than that it was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast (buffet) was terrific. There was plenty to chose from and all very well cooked and presented. Staff were very nice and were very helpful when asked questions etc. Very close to town centre. Would stay here again if in Launceston.

Stayed one night here on the way from Port Arthur to Melbourne. Nice hotel in good central position. Why do they have to have such narrow baths, where it feels dangerous to stand up. Take it out and out a shower in. Breakfast was good and the wifi was good.

    « So convenient....... »

This hotel/motel is so conveniently located next to the city center yet an easy drive to the airport. The room was clean, spacious, well appointed and the bed (the most important item) was a very comfortable King Size. We had a meal in the Tram room which was very good. Did not try the A la carte restaurant, but the menu looked good. The staff were polite, helpful and efficient.

    « It was 'ok' »

The best western has a good, fairly central location in the city, and walking to places was no problem. The room itself was fine, smallish but comfortable. There was no tv reception though... The bathroom was a bit cramped and didn't have a walk in shower... it was fairly noisy too with the theatre situated right next door. And to my surprise, I had to pay for parking when I checked out!

« Good deal at a great price »

We stayed at the BW, Launceston for a night on Nov 15th. We took the Tassie Retreat package and were upgraded to an executive king room on the 6th floor. Great views all round the city from there. Bottle of Morgan's bay Sav Blanc on arrival in the room. 2 for 1 dinner offer was great at the tram car bistro (snappers was closed on a Sunday night). Bill under $40 AUD! Free car park overnight, and big brekky the next morning at Snappers....everything you wanted. Pleasant stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks BW.

    « Comfortable and clean. »

Overall a good, quiet, comfortable place to stay with the mall just down the street. We had booked a room with a king size bed. The room was not overly large but fine for a short stay. Great location and handy to shops and restaurants.

The only item that brought the whole experience down was the staff making of the bed with the terrible blanket that had several holes in it. This was just unbelievable. The location of the car parking arrangement is not the best but we managed. The cooked eggs for breakfast were cold, but the rest was good.

« Central, convenient, but needs some TLC »

This central hotel, more for business travellers, used to be called The Great Northern, and was one of the best in the city. Time has moved on, but apart from a name change, not much has changed here. On the positive side there's free wifi, friendly staff, and location. Rooms are comfortable, but no walk in shower is a miss. Mini bar is frugal.

    « Comfortable »

Comfortable rooms, convenient location, bit confusing with the on-site parking, seems car park shared with adjacent Princess Theatre, appears to be first in best dressed! We did partake in room service for dinner and breakfast but had a problem getting a filled salt shaker!

    « Central location. »

Stayed here for 3 nights while working in Launceston. Check in was good but parking is limited. The room was clean but a little outdated and could do with a update. The bed was comfortable and room a good size. It is close to the CBD for food and shopping. The staff were helpful and always had a smile.

    « An excellent hotel »

We stayed for a couple of nights and were very happy with everything. The hotel was very central, the room was a very good size and well maintained, car parking at s low cost and the staff were fantastic, most helpful.

    « Overnight »

We arrived by plane on a Friday night and drove straight here for a late check-in. The staff were friendly especially in the tram bar but the room was basic and car park was full. Another car park was empty a short walk from the hotel though! We found this hotel to be good value and in a great location, it just has ageing facilities but overall a good place to stay

« Last night of our exciting adventure »

The room was so comfortable it was beautiful ... Mattress and pillows were Devine. the hotel is centrally located in the main part of town. The decor in the room has new and the room had a light and bright feeling about It. Our room had a bath which was fabulous. I loved the The newspapers in the entrance. Parking was very easy and overall we were delighted with the quality of our stay.

« Overpriced, but great location »

On location, this hotel is in a great spot in Launceston. It's easy walking distance to everything in the CBD. The staff were helpful & friendly. The hotel is a little aged, and offered nothing special, therefore I felt $139 was overpriced for one night. Other than that, a good spot to stay. Parking was a challenge, but staff offered an easy alternative.

    « An Average Experience »

Stayed two nights as part of a group of 12. Room was average at best. No air conditioning but we had a fan to move the air around. That worked out ok. We had two beds in room, a single and a king. But no desk nor chair high enough to use the little round table for computer. Had to type on my lap. It was conveniently located and we understand there may be some variation in the room layout and furnishings. They did provide a chit for a free drink in the bar but we found the bar a bit noisy and cramped. Oh well, the bed was comfortable.

« Central to shops and restaurants »

We wanted to stay close to the CBD, and this location delivered. We left the car parked the whole time. We were upgraded to a suite (possibly thanks to Best Western status) so it was great value for us. The room was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom looked dated. The spa tub jets had the paint chipped off them, the fixtures were outdated and the green paint didn't help. Parking is tight. You may end up without a space and yet they offer paid public parking. The first floor has the Tram Bar. Its quiet, relaxed and well stocked. Definitely worth a visit and a photo in the tram. The room has a fridge, coffee maker, and a safe. No microwave.

I find the staff here to be professional and fun. They are more than helpful and are great to have a chat with, which is great when you are travelling alone a lot. The location is ideal with walking distance to parks and restaurants meaning you can leave the car keys behind.

« Nice and comfy for short stay »

Booked 3 rooms and arrived with a dozen of luggages in tow. The hotel didn't have a porter, but luckily there's a luggage trolley. We are happy to do it ourselves anyhow :) Shame there's no connecting room. If you need one, do check ahead. Wi-fi didn't connect very well and slow.

« Great position in the city of Launceston »

This hotel was so very close to everything in the city and made navigating our way around very easy. The staff are very friendly and only too happy to help. Our room was clean and quiet - though the bathroom could do with a bit of an update. The cost of the minibar drinks and snacks were pretty expensive, but we don't usually buy form them anyway. the Tram bar downstairs was absolutely amazing! You can sit in a tram car to quietly consume your drink - great ambiance. Internet connection is free and wireless and very easy to use. The parking isn't free though, which is a shame, and this costs $10 a day. The sunset we watched from our hotel room was spectacular.

« Great Place to Stay right in Launceston »

Always spotlessly clean and rooms have been refurbished in beautiful decor. Have the most comfy beds with spotlessly clean linen. Situated right in the heart of Launceston within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We have stayed multiple times and will continue to do so. Cleanliness is paramount with my Motel choices and this ticks all the boxes.

« Central location inn Launceston »

Great CBD location with parking in the centre of the city. Walking distance to shopping, theatre and parks. Great food in the Tram Bar but limited seating. Quiet room and very comfortable beds. Hotel dated but still comfortable. Would suit business or family needs.

    « Launceston Getaway »

This Motel was very clean and comfortable. Central to town with CBD parking and public transport information supplied in the room. Also offered 2 forms of eating places within the complex. We went with the Restaurant and the meal was magnificently yummy ( but the wait of over 45 minutes was a bit much) and a nice gesture would be to have parking onsite complimentary with the stay instead of an extra charge.

    « Good location....generic accommodation »

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean however no air conditioning which upon entering made it feel quite hot and stuffy. Thankfully the window could be opened to let fresh air in. We ate dinner at the tram bar which was fine - very basic. Disappointing that being so close to the Tamar Wine region, the wine list was appalling! Breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular. Popular for business travellers we think. Bathroom was very clean which is nice.

    « Dinner »

Had dinner at the snappers restaurant was pleased. Steak I had was cooked just right and the big bowl of potatoes I got as a side dish was yum. My husband ha the salmon and he said that it was great. The restaurant its self could do with a bit of a make over because it is very dark and dingy. The staff are to be commended very efficient, helpful and friendly. Would I go back to this restaurant? Yes I would

    « Location, location, location »

If you need something right in the CBD centre, with a family room, cheap parking and free wifi, then this is the place! Staff were amazing and helpful and welcoming. Access to Princess Theatre on your doorstep, city park one block away and the Aquatic Centre is a 7min stroll up the hill. This is a great location for families.
