"Great hotel and Location"
JToppo, 16 Septembre 2018

Stayed here for 2 nights hotel is in a great location only a couple of pounds in a taxi from the hotel into Bury town centre. Fantastic Entrance leading up to the hotel only negative I would mention is when it's dark there are no lights in the grounds which I feel is bad our taxi driver went the wrong way. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful through out our stay. Our room was also lovely very spacious and lots of room for 3 woman to get ready, large spacious bathroom also. One thing we did appreciate was the iron and board already in the room this was a great benefit. We didn't eat at the hotel so can not comment however we did use the bar, good selection of drinks and reasonably priced for a hotel, staff were friendly as well. We did use the leisure facilities which we all agreed were excellent, 2 large swimming pools, jacuzzi's, gym and Sauna's. Changing facilities were excellent and again staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Very friendly hotal"
PinkPinkFizz99, 09 Septembre 2018

The welcome from reception staff was warm and welcoming. The room was clean and well suited for our overnight stay. The furniture was a little tired. The bed was comfortable with lovely clean white linen. Breakfast was good, lots of choice the only downfall was the toast. The staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We would stay here again.

"Not the best"
_emmaellis90, 01 Septembre 2018

Me and my husband stayed in August. Whilst the view was lovely our room was not. The room had a vile smell and furniture not the best. After our night out we came back and managed an hours sleep before the fire alarm went off. It was on and off for over an hour. Everyone in the hotel ended up in reception whilst the night staff didn't no what was going on with the alarm. People were very distressed due to not knowing what was going on. We was not given any answer as to what was happening. I witnessed children crying because of the noise. Someone had called the fire brigade who came and managed to sort the fault out. The following morning we were then told we just had to have the breakfast that was just left. We felt quite rushed. The receptionist the following morning was absolutely lovely and couldn't apologise enough. We are still waiting for a manager to call us after nearly a week.

"Very friendly and helpful local people."
lorrpost, 30 Août 2018

Great stay would return, slight updating needed in some areas. Excellent service nothing to much trouble, good value food, good quality ingredients. Great that you can use leisure facilities next door as a quest of hotel for free. Beauty treatments on site to for extra cost, very friendly staff.

"Great stay as always !"
TraceyE466, 28 Août 2018

We have been staying here for a several weeks each year when we are over from NZ. What keeps bringing us back year after year are the friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. From Dan and Ash ,the managers , to Amy, Asher, Stacey, Sarah, Yasmin and Zoe on reception, Sharon and Julie in housekeeping, Anne , Portia, Nikita on the bar and restaurant and Gary in the kitchen , Vicky and Staci at the breakfast service, Pete and Brian in maintenance/ grounds everyone is friendly , welcoming and helpful. We feel it's a home from home. Rooms...theses are kept spotlessly clean and tidy by housekeeping with a good supply of tea , coffee, water and biscuits. On the negative side they are old fashioned with pine furniture which is serviceable but in need of modernisation. The shower is over the bath so maybe the bath could be removed and a walk in shower installed ? Breakfast....a good selection of the usual full English items, bacon, sausages, black pudding, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes etc that you help yourself to , so no small portions like at some hotels ,plus there are cereals, fruits, yoghurts and pastries etc for a lighter meal. You can order eggs of your choice and other breakfast items , the veg sausages are great , very tasty ! If you arrive late then the eggs in the warmer can be unappetising but fresh ones can be ordered. For those of us on holiday a later cut off time of 9:30 am rather than 9am in the week would be appreciated. Meals...there is a good selection of bar meals, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads, burgers etc or an a la Carte menu or up to 3 different specials each week. On our last weekend we had a family get together with over 20 of us to feed including 3 children and all the meals were done in a timely manner and brought out together. Thank you Gaz ! Reception....Amy and all the girls too many to name, are always friendly whether 9am or 9 pm and all our requests were filled. It was very hot whilst we were over so requested and got a fan as no air con at the hotel. Grounds.....always well kept with colourful flowers and neat bushes despite the lack of rain by Pete Stables...yet to try the pool and spa facilities next door but look inviting. Had a pedicure at Carriages there and Cath did a great job for me and my sister. Feet loved it !

"A quiet place"
KeithM3441, 26 Août 2018

The grounds of the hotel, which borders onto verdant farmland, are impeccable, the place just exudes peace & the helpful staff made this a very restful stay. The surroundings are a quiet oasis in a reasonably busy, but picturesque area, whether it is business or pleasure, I can unreservedly recommend it.

"Average"
Tracey J, 19 Août 2018

My husband and I stayed two nights in the hotels best room (honeymoon suite) room 5 although it was a lovely large room, spotless clean I've got to say the furniture was very cheap and nasty. The staff from reception to house keeping to waiters were very friendly and helpful. The use of the country club leisure facilities is excellent great pool , we also had a massage at Carriages Beauty Salon which was very enjoyable. My biggest problem with this hotel was the breakfast, it was disgusting. I'm not sure the sausages had any pork in, the bacon and black pudding could have been used to sole a shoe. The fried eggs had been cooked that long they were solid. Ok second day I tried the continental option poor quality, stale croissant that was it. We had to ask for a second cup of coffee as first one was cold. Come on Best Western it wouldn't take a lot to make a huge improvement.

"Openreach training stay "
User, 15 Août 2018

Just a quick review! This is my first week here and I've got another 5 weeks to enjoy everything off the menu! Tonight I had the best bacon and mushroom tagliatelle ever! Thanks. Only concern is bar prices, they would make a bomb if prices matched the local pubs!

"Terrible Hotel "
xraybadger, 10 Août 2018

Never ever again, what an awful hotel and what I have come to expect from Best Western. Many years ago I would always stay In BW hotels, but sadly now mostly run down properties. Back to this little gem. Staff in general friendly as you always get in BW hotels, the room number 41 from memory, stank of urine it was terrible, bedding seemed clean but the smell of the room was the pits, closely followed by the that musty kinda old hotel smell. The barman was fantastic and friendly but the place had the atmosphere of a mortuary. Breakfast was well below par and not worth the money or effort. Be warned

"Average at best"
446sueo, 02 Août 2018

I previously enjoyed my stays at this hotel, partly due to staff being attentive to my being a lone female guest. Anne in the bar gets a special mention as she was again brilliant, ensuring I was OK. Which was just as well as the hotel had an influx of males on a training course who use the hotel for their accommodation for the week. I can't complain about their behaviour, it was just the number of groups of men in the bar area and restaurant. I just felt uncomfortable walking through to the bar and sitting in the restaurant. The food was still good. I enjoyed a well-cooked steak but salad accompaniment was small and disappointing. On both mornings I was directed to self-service breakfast which was OK, but no one mentioned that other cooked breakfast options were available and I only discovered the menu card after I had selected food from the buffet on the 2nd morning. Generally, I feel rooms do not match the standard of other Best Western hotels I have stayed in; it is in need of modernisation. When I stay, it was at the end of the heatwave and had cooled down a bit which was lucky as rooms have no air conditioning and although I asked for a fan one never arrived. No sure it will be my 1st choice if I am in that area again.

"Overnighter"
ClockWatcher16, 30 Juillet 2018

Saturday night stay for a weekend away. Pleasant hotel, comfortable room and nice staff. Possibly a little more expensive than it should be, but no complaints. Friends had breakfast which they said was good. If I was in the area again, I would use again.

"Ideal for a stopover"
Andy3468, 30 Juillet 2018

Stayed at the bolt holt for one night whilst going on the East Lancashire Railway. Very good location, quiet but still close to the centre of Bury and costs less than £4 in a taxi to get there. Staff were very friendly, bar was well stocked and the leisure facilities were a great way to relax. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very busy but good quality. Will stay here again.

"Amy does it"
kit d, 30 Juillet 2018

The first point of contact with a firm is the make or break for an organisation, my contact was made with a young Lady called Amy. She has a clarity of voice, with a warmth and helpful manner a credit to herself and the Bolholt. Thank you For your assistance and also that of all the staff who could not have helped more. We booked to attend a family wedding also in the hotel and this is my findings first the good points. Staff ............. first class friendly, helpfull, from reception, bar staff, dining room and service staff, thank you. Cleanliness... Very clean, in all of the areas that I visited. Food..............excellent both breakfast and dinner (al la carte) Wedding ......Presentation, service, organisation excellent as was food. Barn setting adjacent to hotel beautiful setting. Setting .......Excellent area around Hotel is A good setting. Parking ..... excellent though sloped CONS. There is no lift within the hotel, or at least I was not aware of one. the higher number of rooms are up at least 2 half flights of stairs. our room was on the top level having two other sets of 4 steps each the last of which had very high risers to the step. the room had the benefit of a 4 poster bed beautiful and comfy, but no air conditioning. The handrail on the top steps requires attention, it is tight to the wall and may trap fingers at the bottom if you slide your hand down the whole way. Needs to project more at the bottom or be cut back. The shower is over the bath as standard in most hotels but there is no hand rail or any form of support to access or exit can be slippy. The pathway from reception to the barn is lovely old cobbles, but murder for elegant ladies attempting to access the barn from there, time for Bolholt to use a thinking cap.. All in all a first class break away a wonderful wedding venue needing just a little thought to top it off, blessed with excellent staff means you have a cracking base to work from . Come on management, thinking caps, easy walking path, covered or loan brollies?

"Prices much higher than the quality of stay"
singhasam, 17 Juillet 2018

A LARGE number of us booked in here as a place to stay ahead of attending the funeral of a friend the next day. After a drive of nearly 300 miles, all we wanted to do was unwind and grab a meal and a drink before going to bed. Instead of being able to do that we were treated to a slightly surreal experience where we went to the bar for drinks and to look at the restaurant menu well ahead of closure time at 9pm. You can imagine we were slightly taken aback to be told not so much what was on the menu as what they had run out of and which was now off the menu. Bear in mind this was still well before closure time. We made the best of it we could, but we were then told that the beer we wanted was virtually sold out. In fact, they only had one bottle left of it and even that hadn't been chilled and was naturally warm on a hot night. Shaking our heads, we were forced to experiment with other beers while some members of our party changed their order altogether. The meal itself was quite good although my vegetables failed to arrive and I had to ask for some, my food losing some of its heat by the time vegetables did arrive. As you can appreciate, this was a stressful time without trying to cobble a meal and drinks together from what remainders were available. So -- when various members and other guests chatted the next day -- we couldn't believe the poor night we had all had. A number of complaints were made about how hot the rooms were. Mine was stifling and impossible to cool because Health and Safety restrictions meant the window didn't open anywhere near fully, presumably to prevent overheated guests committing suicide by throwing themselves to the car park below! Add to that a stain on my bath towel which was as big as a small saucer and you'd think there couldn't be many more irritations.....but think again. The worst thing about my room was that the curtains barely came six inches below the windowsill which allowed light to come flooding into the room from below the curtain and from all up the side facing the bed because it was impossible to draw the curtain more than an inch past the edge of the window. This meant my night consisted of turning my back to the window as best I could and trying to grab a bit of sleep while sweat poured off my body. Management did their best the next day following my complaint and supplied me with an electric fan which left me with a stark choice. Ignore it and get another sleepless night or use it......and get another sleepless night kept awake by the noise of the fan! The situation was very frustrating because the bed was very comfortable, the sheets crisp and clean and the bathroom very clean. All towels were changed and the room made up, but it was nothing like enough to offset two sleepless nights caused by poor ventilation and very poor curtains which allowed so much light in that I might as well have drawn them and had done with it. Elsewhere the swimming pool and gym seemed of a good standard, relaxation seating by a television was good, free newspapers were provided in Reception, staff helpfully loaned me an umbrella to brave drizzle and go out for a walk and staff generally were unswervingly polite, friendly and keen to help. Early morning breakfast was good from cereals and fresh fruit to full English, toast and marmalade, good quality coffee and very attentive service. But the thing that really interested me about breakfast was that I found myself surrounded by fellow sufferers, some of whom said they had been staying at the hotel for several weeks. I quietly ate my bacon and eggs, surrounded by other guests whose main topic of conversation was what a poor night they had just had. Complaints were universal about the stifling heat in their rooms and they said the same thing about the fans provided, namely they were kept awake by them. It also seemed that a number of them had complained as well. I could say more about other complaints they made, but I won't mention them as they are unsubstantiated and involved things that I myself did not experience. Suffice to say, there were a few unimpressed people at breakfast with eyes bleary from little or no sleep. For me to face a funeral that day as well was not the best day I have ever had, particularly as I knew I was coming back to more of the same the next night. Bolholt does not deserve a "poor" rating but, as things stand, it didn't miss it by much and those making a visit in coming days if this heatwave continues should think carefully about making a booking not least because the entrance grounds are covered in thousands of droppings from a flock of Canada geese who crop the lawns! I had to pay £162 for two nights bed and breakfast and the experience I had did not deserve such a tariff which I felt was charging like a wounded buffalo. I will not be back. P.S. The funeral went a lot better than my stay at the hotel.

"Bolholt stables leisure"
Vicky B, 09 Juillet 2018

I just joined fantastic gym here. Good value for money. Set back off main road. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Two swimming pools one heated. Sauna, steam room. Highly recommend and also recommend the hotel on site too.

"Batmitzvah!"
Victoria C, 08 Juillet 2018

Thank you very much to Asher, Nikita, Holly and Emily for facilitating an amazing night we will never forget. Gabriela loved her batmitzvah, she had the best time ever! You were very helpful! It was excellent! Thank you

"Perfect for a late one-nighter"
frequenttravels81, 01 Juillet 2018

Arrived in Manchester around 7pm with a colleague. Reception were friendly. Halls were a bit run down but the rooms and bathroom were in a nice state. Clean sheets. Polite staff in the bar and restaurant. Plenty of parking. Although there was a large corporate event going on there were still plenty of spaces. Overall, a really nice stay. Thanks

"Grand "
natpatwright, 01 Juillet 2018

I recently stayed there for a friends wedding which was so close to the hotel. Rooms were basic but clean and fresh. I requested a travel cot beforehand which we got in our room with no issues. The bathroom was in good condition too, and had complimentary shower gel/shampoo attatched to the wall for easiness. The room was supplied with tea and coffee facilities, and even came with complimentary shortbread to enjoy our cup of tea with. The rooms also came with 2 bottles of water which was lovely as the weather was so warm. The water from the tap in the bathroom was drinkable though. The staff at reception were friendly, and were able to phone for taxis for us upon request. Room service was great too. Although if you want ketchup etc, I would definitely request this while phoning for your meal. Very pleasant stay.

"Mid Term Break"
Mark D, 27 Juin 2018

We went here with the kids for mid term break having previously spent a weekend here by ourselves. Great big room to accommodate 2 adults & 2 kids.. Lovely hotel in a quiet area. Great breakfast and leisure centre. Not too far from the centre of Bury. There isn't a separate kids pool which is disappointing and they have to be out of the adult pool by 5pm.

"5* customer service"
Charlie C, 27 Juin 2018

Had a great stay here for a business trip and just the service you want after a 16 hour day. Danielle on reception was extremely help and kind as were the rest of the staff who I crossed paths with. The venue is stunning and the rooms were clean although a little dated in the bathroom but for the money I have no complains would definitely stay again. I'm gluten intolerant which is normally difficult when staying in hotels but they had plenty to get me started for my day. Thank you all

"Hen Night"
Lisa S, 19 Juin 2018

Excellent hotel and great value. DBB fab full English, 70s/80s Party night all for £56 !!! Would definitely recommend and would stay at hotel if visiting the area again.Lovely grounds.Didnt get to use the gym or pool but that was also available for use.

"Hidden gem hotel and Spa"
MrP_MrsMH, 03 Juin 2018

We stayed overnight in Room 51. The room was spacious clean and had everything we needed, comfortable bed, great size ensuite and even an ironing board. Staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful... The highlight for us was the wonderful spa with two swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna etc - by far the best hotel leisure club we have visited.

"Old School Country Park Hotel"
Manuel S, 03 Juin 2018

When I say it's "old school" country park hotel it's not a postive comment. The decor and facilities are from a bygone era as was the change from the bar where I was given an out of circulation £5 note - shame on you Bolholt! The general feeling is that everything is being done on the cheap, the staff are poorly trained anad this is reflected in the quality of the service provided, which harks beack to the 1970s. We even had to ask at reception for toileteries that one would normally find in the most basic of hotels. Hot water seems to be scarcity between the hours 08:00 and 09:00, lukewarm showers really aren't my thinng! On a positive note the romm was presented in very clean state even if the facilities/ furniture tended more towards the basic rather than the modern - a trip to IKEA would pay dividends as would the installation of a Nespresso machine to provide a wider range of hot drinks in the room. Thought should also be given to upgrading the mattresses - something more supportive rather than soft would be appreciated. Breakfast is £12.95 for cooked and £9.95 continental, the former should be freshly cooked rather being served in a dessicated state from hotplates. The latter is obviously commerlcially bought that you'd probably do better to wait for the local Costco to open and go the bakery dept. Is there any chance that the breakfast service can be extended beyond 09:00? Evening menu is basic and limited, knowinmg what I know now I woul dhave taken a taxi to the centre of Manchester to eat, at least you'll have some choice. Our stay was for a weekend for a friend's wedding during which time i used the Stables Spa - again the decor and facilities were dated however there is a marked difference in the two facilities as whoever is running the spa is at least interested in providing a service. Regret to say that the likelihood of my returning is absolutely zero based on this weekend's experience.

"Lovely hidden gem in Bury"
einvalsledge, 25 Mai 2018

We stayed here for a weekend visit to Bury, heading to the nearby East Lancashire Railway. Lovely warm welcome and a very nice room with a lovely powerful shower (yay!). Very good food too, and s well-stocked bar for my wife's birthday weekend treat. All hidden maybe a mile from the centre of Bury. We also used the great spa/pool at the health club next door, all included in the price. Just what we needed!

"Good nights sleep"
randombird78, 25 Mai 2018

We stayed in the hotel for the weekend, had dinner in the hotel on the first night the food was very good and reasonably priced. Our room was situated at the back of the hotel, the room was spacious with a very nice 4 poster bed. The second night there was a wedding going on, thankfully the sound-proofing of the rooms meant that we could only just hear the DJ, and as advised by the hotel staff the wedding disco would be ending at 23:00 they were not wrong.

"Amateur hour, everything feels like it's been done on the cheap "
gebs14, 23 Mai 2018

Rooms are directly on to car park and it smelt of exhaust fumes & was very noisy Very flimsy furniture in the room, the wardrobe toppled when we put a suit carrier in it (room 20), and the door slammed. Luckily we'd booked in early so were able to to be moved to the opposite side of the corridor. Rooms in the back have path directly along side windows so no privacy at all unless you close the big curtains. The only chance if privacy is if you're lucky to get an upper floor room. Rooms very small and the beds are very low, beneath my knee height, and the bins in the room are tiny. There wasn't a tray for tea, coffee etc so everything spills onto desk if you're not careful Went to have a wash and bath at 10:00 and no hot water. The walls are very thin and we could hear doors banging late at night and very early morning so we did not get a good nights sleep. Everything feels like it's been done on the cheap, even the food Food very poor and they'd run out of 3 or 4 mains. The staff were very friendly but it was a little Hi-De-Hi. On asking for a bottle of beer on a shelf they kept putting it back on the shelf as it was the only one, they said “Why do you want that when there's only one!” She then walked off, asking the second server to give us the bottle, her response was “well she's gone to see if we have some more”. It took over 5 minutes to get the drink. The food has to be ordered at the bar before you go through to the restaurant itself. It went further downhill when the bread arrived and is was a slice of packet white bread cut in half! Melenzane parmigiana was uncooked, the courgette and aubergine were raw, the sauce very runny and tasteless and the cheese in a block on top. The potato skins were pale and limp, they appeared to be microwaved. Garlic and chilli chicken floating in oil, chilli and overpowered everything, couldn't really taste chicken. Dish was “served with rocket, Parmesan and cherry tomato balsamic salad” very little balsamic and couldn't find or taste Parmesan. An accompanying side salad offered with the dish served with very oily pesto dressing so taste clashed. Also had what appeared to be cheap shop bought coleslaw. Smoked salmon and king prawn penne pasta had far too much creamy sauce, only 3 prawns, the accompanying poached egg was rock hard and garlic ciabatta undercooked. We were going to complain about both mains but the waitress was extremely nervous approaching us so we left it, it's not their fault that the food was so poor. It was positive that the servers were embarrassed and chef offered 2 free desserts for the aubergine dish. However all the desserts apart from cheeseboard and ice cream sundae are “cake”. These are offered with Chantilly cream, ice cream or custard. They had no vanilla only chocolate or strawberry! Had scoops of chocolate and strawberry and again tasted cheap shop bought, no fruit or chocolate chips in them very frozen had not been given opportunity to warm at all. No real effort was made in presentation apart from a little greenery. The food was so bad we decided not to eat breakfast there nor dine there the following night. In the morning we could hear hoovering in corridor outside our room from just after 08:30 which I consider to be too early. They also knocked for us to vacate the room at 09:30 despite checkout being 11:00! Stables leisure club The facilities in the leisure club are fantastic. However this is the first time on using an “attached” leisure centre that I have been refused a second towel as “the hotel only pays us for one”, not great for those of us with long hair. One pool nice and warm, the other nice and cool for proper swimming, this one adults only. Also jacuzzi in this area. Not much seating though, only two loungers one of which was broken. Smaller pool includes inbuilt jacuzzi, a powerful 18 inch long shower and there's also a separate jacuzzi. Steam room and sauna has a proper plunge pool outside them. Plenty of lockers and showers but space between these is limited so if four lockers in use in a close area at the same time you fall over each other getting changed and on both of my visits reception deliberately gave out keys all near one another e.g the person in front of me had no.1, I had 2 and the next 2 had 3 & 4, this could be much better planned. Great showers and hairdryers with lovely seating but again limited space for bags etc. Whole area fairly clean apart from one large area of sand in big pool and some green discolouring around the steps etc. and a few plasters dotted around. I only saw 1 cleaner during my four hours there, and never in the pool area, so it's probably not surprising that it's not 100% clean.

"Poor breakfast and poor reception staff"
Ivor40777, 09 Mai 2018

Quality of breakfast items poor and had to wait 10 minutes in a queue for scrambled eggs but gave up in the end. Second time we have stayed here and the previous buffet breakfast was below par. On asking the reception for a price for 14 rooms for next October she suggested we go on booking.com and was not really interested in our enquiry. We have now booked elsewhere - we don't care for this type of attitude.

"The staff make this hotel"
Patrick O, 09 Mai 2018

We would definitely stay here again. Lovely, quiet location with nice grounds, back and front to walk the dog. Decor not the most up to date, but clean, tidy, comfortable and everything worked. If you're the sort who doesn't want to talk to the staff, then look elsewhere - this team were friendly, talkative and very accommodating. Food was wholesome, though breakfast sausages could do with an upgrade!

"We can definitely recommend & dog friendly"
Jay E, 06 Mai 2018

Wonderful surroundings and leisure facilities. The breakfast is very adequate and tasty with a good choice of self service full English and continental. Staff are customer oriented, helpful and friendly. The only weak point - the mattress in our room was a little soft and springy. Although decor and furniture in rooms may be considered a little outdated, I have to say that the housekeeping and cleanliness made up for any deficits in that area. The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings, clean and comfortable. Good value.

"A rather idiosyncratic hotel"
Guy N, 01 Mai 2018

When on business in Bury maybe five or six years ago, I spent a total of eight nights in this hotel, and was not terribly impressed. However, hotels change and, when I learnt that I was to be put up here for two nights by my company, I was hoping that I would be pleasantly surprised. On arrival, it looked precisely as before; it appears to have been assembled on the cheap from a series of formerly industrial buildings, and endlessly extended in a random way, without necessarily having ever been completed. Nevertheless, my room was a significant improvement, located where a building changes direction by about 30 degrees; this resulted in a spacious, trompe-l'oeil room which was wedge-shaped. It was comfortable and well-furnished, having apparently been refurbished in the recent past, and was certainly easy to live in. My major disappointment in the past had been the restaurant, where I had found the staff over-familiar and the service slow; this was unchanged - I do not anticipate reserving my table using my first name, nor do I appreciate being addressed as "love", "darling" etc, although I accept that this may be a local convention. My job requires me to process paperwork in the evenings, and I was not happy to have to hang around waiting for food the first evening; nevertheless, when I explained my time predicament, the staff suggested I booked a table for a particular time and ordered in advance on the second evening, but this did not really save much time. The food was certainly better than I had remembered, although I suspect the focus remains on quantity at the expense of quality; this would however appeal to their clientele, which is peculiarly "bloke-ish". The breakfast was reasonable, if unexciting, but the hot food looked unappetising and tarnished by waiting around for too long. If allocated this hotel again, regretfully the food aspect is certainly sufficient for me to ask to be moved elsewhere.

"Lovely surrounding, friendly staff and helpful. Just need a update in room door coming off hinges and shower leaking."
joannepessol, 22 Avril 2018

Restaurant staff very helpful. Room could have been better as shower leaking needs sealing around. And bathroom door hanging off. Needs modernised beautiful location. Lovely gardens. Would do a lot better if improve inside.

"Wedding"
Evs83, 04 Avril 2018

We stayed here following our wedding at the attached stables country club. Lovely rooms, well equipped. Reception staff were more than happy to help and prices were reasonable. Breakfast was excellent and my wife's evening meal the night before was great too. Would recommend.

"Excellent stay"
jode83, 03 Avril 2018

We would definitely stay here again. Lovely, quiet location and the staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. Loved the gin selection too. Clean and tidy with everything you need in the room.

"Overnight stay"
Tracey G, 03 Avril 2018

Stayed here on Sunday after a football tournament in Manchester. Lovely room which was spotlessly clean. Use the pool and spa which was fab except kids have to be out at 5pm and so my teenage daughter had limited time to use this. Had dinner and breakfast in the hotel both were good. So would come again when in the area.

"Standard"
Wilkie87, 01 Avril 2018

Clean enough room. Decor a little dated and funny smells in the lobby.....heavily tried to be masked with spray. Staff at the bar are a little slow on service at a function and the food was average. Nice little location and on the whole. Standard service provided.

"Overnight Stay"
Esp_Travell, 31 Mars 2018

My wife & I stayed over on B&B basis one Tuesday night this month. A warm welcome on arrival, which was an mid evening one, by the receptionist who directed us outside to an annexed part of the hotel to a family room, despite only being a couple. The room(s) were fine - two bedrooms, a double & two singles with entrance hall & en-suite bathroom - except for the fact that they were very cold indeed with all radiators turned off. After turning them on and waiting an hour or two the rooms did start to warm but it would have been much better had they been turned on prior to our arrival to ensure a more comfortable start to the stay. Breakfast the following morning was superb - pleasant, friendly & helpful staff & a wide range of choice. Service was excellent. The venue is great for a stay over & obviously a popular corporate event venue through the day. Would stay again but perhaps request a room in the main hall next time.

"Girlie weekend "
juemac17, 26 Mars 2018

Spent 1 night here 24th march with my 2 best friends. Hotel was lovely. Staff were lovely. Room was bit on small side but was clean and tidy. Breakfast was nice next morning. Hotel receptionists were lovely and helpful. Would stay here again.

"Warm and friendly staff"
Calum M, 21 Mars 2018

The hotel is really nice, the place is clean and the food is really good. The main stand out point is the amazing staff who go out of their way to welcome you and make you feel right at home. The pool and gym are good as well.

"Stayed the weekend for a wedding"
_jumijo, 20 Mars 2018

Stayed from Friday to Sunday for a friends wedding which was also at the hotel. Polite and helpful staff. Speedy booking in. Breakfast included which was a full English or continental. Staff at breakfast were very helpful and service very good, as well as the food. Room clean and tidy and bed very comfortable. Shower nice and hot. Food in restaurant in evening very good as well as the service. Wedding very well organised, and ran like clockwork which was no doubt due to experienced staff. Would stay here again.

"Good 3* hotel but let down by 2* restaurant"
bikergirl, 20 Mars 2018

I stayed for one night, chosen based on location for where I needed to be the next morning. Hotel was easy to find, with plenty of free parking. Check-in was easy and the lady on reception very pleasant. I had booked a superior 4 poster/canopy bed room and slightly surprised that in order to get to my room I had to go out of the hotel and cross the yard to an adjoining building. The room itself was very nice, and clean, but did feel a little isolated for a single traveler. It was a good size and did indeed have a 4 poster canopy bed, which was pretty comfortable. The bathroom felt cramped, particularly in the bath but it was nice to have a bath rather than just a shower. I was planning to use the gym but after being informed that it was again in a separate building to the hotel reception I just couldn't face wandering around in the dark along paths to try and find it in my gym clothes. I didn't really enjoy the restaurant experience, I asked for a table at one and was told that was fine but was expected to place my order at the bar and then wait in the bar until the food was ready. Whilst the bar was nice enough, it was pretty busy with lots of groups having fun, and it does make you feel rather left out when you're sat on your lonesome with just your Kindle for company! Very limited choice of beers available too. I was taken to my table after about 15mins, for my main of Cock & Bull (chicken and steak strips), which was OK-ish though I did ask for the steak rare and it wasn't. I put my finished plate to one-side after finishing eating, and it took over 20mins for the waiting staff to remove it and ask if I would like to see the dessert menu, I said yes, but after waiting 15min with no sign of the dessert menu, I gave up and went back to my room. Breakfast wasn't great either unfortunately. I would stay in the hotel again if I had to, but would look at alternative eating arrangements.

"Two night stay"
Maureen A, 18 Mars 2018

Check in at reception was lovely and easy with such a pleasant receptionist. Lovely clean and cosy room with all the facilities that we needed for a comfortable stay. Had a great dinner the first night and really wonderful "full English" the next morning. All the staff very helpful and full of smiles. Another "full English" the second morning before setting off back home. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

"Enjoyable stay"
Paul B, 12 Mars 2018

Enjoyed a one night stay as part of a family wedding at the hotel. Check-in was quick & efficient with the staff able to answer any questions & provide all the relevant information required. We stayed in a two bed suite. The main room was a touch on the small side & could have been laid out a bit better due to the amount of furniture in there. Only one door of the wardrobe could be opened as the bedside cabinet was in the way of the other door, not the biggest of issues but highlights the point. The bathroom was a good size. The only criticisms would be a) the height of the sink was fine for someone standing about 5ft tall not someone over 6ft it was that low b) the shower was good but to get the temperature right it was far too powerful and c) there was no extractor in there so the room ended up more like a sauna. Despite the above the room was well presented, clean & tidy and worth a visit If staying in the area again. The wedding we attended was in the Stables Country/Leisure Club adjacent to the Hotel. The staff again were excellent but in particular Jade. She served all evening with a friendly smile, a heartfelt please & thank you and went out of her way to help in any way possible.

"One Night Stay"
Jean M, 12 Mars 2018

Please be aware of this hotel if you arrive before check in the bar is not open until 2pm also you can only get sandwiches no hot food the restaurant opens at 2pm. Understood check In was 2pm so was willing to wait ,Danielle was on reception on her own, wedding going on so reception was busy with people booking in poor young girl was rushed off her feet she did open the bar as people wanted a drink and food, my husband asked about football on television was given remote which he had a problem with ! Danielle phoned the manager who was at home and was told to shut the bar and for her to sort the television out (she was totally on her own) This young girl did make us sandwiches and was trying her best in between looking after reception. Cannot grumble at all about the room as we did get a upgrade to honeymoon suite, clean, hot water housekeeping staff were very good. . I gave it Very Good as breakfast was fine and staff were excellent, issues with the bar and not enough staff in during the day. Where was the manager????? Please note you do advertise 24 hours a day for bar and light snacks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Nice grounds"
alan m, 04 Mars 2018

Stayed here for a wedding. Room was really nice as were the grounds.Found the bed very comfy and had a good nights sleep. Beer prices were as expected. The breakfast in the morning was very good and staff very friendly. Would stay again.

"Outstanding for our daughter's wedding"
joannorthey25, 03 Mars 2018

We stayed at this hotel (along with many of our family and friends) for two nights in February for our daughter's wedding. The hotel was great, the food was excellent, the service impeccable and the use of the leisure facilities at the adjacent "Stables" was a great added bonus. On the day of the wedding it rained none stop, but even this did not "put a dampener" on the proceedings, it was so good. In particular Asher - our master of ceremonies - was outstanding. He could not do enough for us and made sure that the day went off spectacularly well. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding that offers value for money, excellent food, great facilities and above all great service then look no further !!!

"Wedding!"
Lou1988_5, 25 Février 2018

We had our wedding here two weeks ago and everything went to perfection thanks to the organisation and efficiency of the staff. Sarah who planned everything up to the day was a massive help to me in the run up, and Dan and Asher who were there on the day ensured that everything went smoothly and couldn't do enough to help. The day went without a hitch!

"My Wedding"
Neil D, 23 Février 2018

Had my wedding here and it ran like clockwork! Special thanks to Sarah Hedley for organising it and also to Dan & Asher for their help and respect on the day for making it perfect! Would love to return & stay over in exactly a years time to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. Excellent pool & spa facilities at the ajecent Stables building so is ideal for a couples weekend getaway!

"Bolholt hotel"
Pam B, 19 Février 2018

Nice quiet friendly country hotel, near to bury if your interested in going to the market for a bargain or two . Set in nice gardens also has a spa but have not used it yet .nice breakfast although a bit ex pensive

"Scary travel!"
KMF44, 14 Février 2018

On the worst evening of the year so far I found myself driving from Cambridge to Bury. When asked, I presumed Bury St. Edmunds as I would be travelling from Cambridge but no! Was Bury Greater Manchester. Plus point? Through the wind, rain, sleet and snow I travelled the M 66 and across the highest motorway in England during the aforementioned weather! Imagine the my delight to reach the hotel and receive such warm assistance from the staff who were lovely. My room was a large single but had everything I needed, was warm, comfortable and I slept like a log. The swimming pool and spa were a bonus. Will definitely be staying there again.

"Holchem Conference"
928carlj, 11 Février 2018

The stay at your hotel was very nice all the staff where extremely friendly and helpful they where a credit to your company, I was even pleased to see that this year you have got Guinness on draft Thanks for a nice stay

"Lovely little find"
Jackie B, 04 Février 2018

Beautiful semi rural setting. Lovely clean fresh room with four poster bed. Alpacas in the field outside our room. Shame we were only staying the one night. Beware local taxi drivers who take you on a two or so mile diversion to charge extra for the fare!

"A good stay"
robertoY7090SD, 03 Février 2018

Good rooms, great staff, great service, would recommend, food is good too and the bar service ia great. Good menu with great selection. Would go back and stay again if in the area. Good parking and access.

"Great service!"
T3185LU, 03 Février 2018

Staying here for business and the service is great! The Bolholt is in a nice quiet area, yet Tesco is only a 10 minute walk. Amble parking. The swimming pool and sauna are highly recommended, just take your own towel as the ones they provide aren't very big.

"Wedding bridal suite"
FelicityBall88, 02 Février 2018

Our stay was very pleasant and the room was lovely. We stayed after our wedding at the stables country club. We had a room in the quiet zone and it was the bridal suite, this came complete with a four poster bed. Me and my new husband loved the peace and quiet alone time away from the kids! Access to the spa was a great perk and we spent a good few hours unwinding in the jacuzzi! Thanks for our stay, we would definitely recommend the bolholt hotel

"One night stay"
Mark R, 01 Février 2018

This is the second time we have been here and again everything was of a very high standard and we will most definitely stay here again in the very near future. The food is excellent, the staff are very helpful and the accomodation is excellent and we also like the fact that as guests of the hotel we have use of the leisure facilties i.e. the gym and the swimming pool.

"Good All Rounder"
mrp519, 29 Janvier 2018

Decent hotel, good leisure facilities. Spacious family room. Breakfast was nice but a slightly limited range of fruits / cereals etc.. The setting of the hotel is pleasant although the location is not great for travel routes.

"Straight forward, clean and efficient."
chrismitchell2018, 28 Janvier 2018

Found on Trivago; booked in 5 mins; arrived really late yet night porter was there in a moment and fresh. Simple & clean room. Slept great. Lots for breakfast; no faf when leaving as all payments and necessaries done during booking. job done. ta.

"Pleasant and comfortable"
Mandy P, 26 Janvier 2018

We were very happy with our stay at the Bolholt . We were there for a wedding and my only complaint was being charged £4.00 for a glass of water. There was a problem while we were there and the water was cut off for a time which obviously wasn't the fault of the hotel but my husband was charged for the bottled water they had to give which I'm sure you will be compensated for, otherwise it was a very pleasant stay

"business meeting"
Royb1977, 24 Janvier 2018

I attended a meeting here in October, staff and site were fantastic and would highly recommend using it. food was excellent and the hotel staff could not do enough for us and it was easy to get to being not far from the M62

"Not worth the money"
JessicaRobbins1234, 23 Janvier 2018

The beds are far to small and uncomfortable feels like a sofa bed! Our bathroom was dirty and so was the room. The hotel had no flowing water to it for about 5 hours and compensated this with 2 small bottles of water! Not sure how that helps

"Great Wedding"
852guestp, 17 Janvier 2018

booked to attend a wedding. Very friendly staff, and amazing wedding service and breakfast. main hotel very relaxing. Pool and Jacuzzi a bonus. Expect a bracing and challenging walk(over old cobbles) to reach the Leisure centre.

"Friendly staff"
J1640FLjennam, 16 Janvier 2018

Staff are friendly and helpful , hotel is a bit dated and some rooms were cold. Ours was fine but our friends had no heating that worked. The buffet breakfast was ok, I would personally prefer my breakfast to be grilled and not all fried but that's personal preference.

"Fantastic value for money, doesn't disappoint"
Claire M, 16 Janvier 2018

We booked a suite which was absolutely amazing. 2 huge, very well equipped rooms. Great value for money. Breakfast was the best I've had in a long time at a hotel and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely stay again.

"Christmas Do & Overnight Stay"
FranWilliams77, 07 Janvier 2018

We had our company Christmas Do @ Venue in December 17 and I stayed in one of large suites overnight. Location and buildings are slightly unusal, with the hotel be made up of a different aged extensions. Food was good, but nothing more - venue for the evening was good with a Casino theme. DJ was more interested in htting the bar than the beats - which didnt exactly help the atmosphere. Room was good, but with one of the coldest nights of the year and early morning snow - it hard to navigate the pathway.

"Chilled Christmas"
petep810, 04 Janvier 2018

Stayed for a few days over Christmas, it was very quiet but enjoyable. No restaurant but had room service so was nice and relaxed. Stayed in a four poster room which was very comfortable. We always stay here when visiting family as it's local and convenient.would recommend.

"Short break at bolholt hotel bury"
robertcarldenise, 03 Janvier 2018

Room was comfortable but small ,staff did oblige with a disabled toilet seat ,otherwise no disabled shower in double rooms ,only walking showers in single rooms! Sol was unable to use shower over the bath for 2 nights.

"Christmas visit"
MalBuryLancs, 31 Décembre 2017

Great value for 1 night stay at Christmas. Good friendly staff and very clean. Or booking had been lost but was sorted out and we arrived upgraded to a garden Room with a four poster bed. Would start again.

"A quiet location but close to town."
GMc04, 31 Décembre 2017

The rooms are looking a little bit dated, but there was enough space in the family room for 4 of us. We only stayed 1 night while attending a wedding reception, therefore the room was OK for a 1 night stay. Husband had a shower in the morning and he commented that the bath was pretty deep, therefore it was a little bit difficult climbing in and out of the bath tub. There was a good choice of food at breakfast. The hotel has leisure facilities, but we didn't have time to use these so can't comment on what they were like.

"Wedding of the roses"
Rebecca F, 30 Décembre 2017

Had my wedding here in November. Staff very helpful and all ran smoothly. The meal was great. Not seen pigs in blankets that big before. Good portions for the money paid. All guests were happy and commented how good it all was. Could have done with a room pre wedding with a bit more space to get wedding party ready but otherwise all was excellent.

"Great staff but disappointing standard of room"
TriciaTass, 28 Décembre 2017

We arrived to a delightful reception area with friendly and helpful staff but unfortunately our visit went downhill from there. Very disappointing standard with dilapidated furniture in lounge/bar and room. Torn and worn areas of Chesterfield lounge suites held together with sticky tape/clear packaging tape. Not a great look. Our room had a lovely outlook but was very outdated with furniture and facilities. Mattress needs updating and with no hot water in our shower - our planned lengthy stay was cut short as we decided to check out early.

"Christmas night at Bolholt, such a pleasant, relaxing stop-over."
Mintcake-David, 28 Décembre 2017

Having had a busy day with the children and Grand-children, not having to then drive for an hour and a half home, it was such a great way to end the day in such a pleasant Hotel. We had expected a cut-down breakfast but were surprised with the full layout and spread, using that infamous word, "Fab-u-lous"

"Shabby "
Mikeo111, 25 Décembre 2017

This hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. I have read some responses by that Proprietors which said that rooms are in the process of being modernised. However, I did see any evidence of that during my stay. I noticed some chairs in the public bar area which were even stuck together by sellotape. The Associated Leisure facility is very family unfriendly having very restricted hours for children to access the pool. On arrival, I agreed a late check out with the reception. However on the day of departure they were knocking on the door at 11am asking my family to leave.

"Winter special"
randrcarryer, 24 Décembre 2017

Value for money but better soundproofing of rooms is needed. Reception staff need to be much more welcoming. A smile wouldn't go amiss. The breakfast staff on the other hand were much more welcoming and the breakfast was good.

"Overnight Stay"
jacquelinep277, 22 Décembre 2017

Great hotel with spacious room nicely presented and spotless. Evening meal eaten in the Lounge rather than restaurant, tasty and again well presented But have to say best part of stay was the welcoming friendly young team of staff working there. Credit to the organisation.

"Perfect place to sleep"
olgah709, 12 Décembre 2017

I stayed only on one night. I had a standard room which was very comfortable. All staff and service lovely and very friendly. Breakfast was very good, all types of different food. I really enjoy that stay in Bolholt Hotel.

"Family Visit"
Shane W, 10 Décembre 2017

Started off badly as initially told we had booked room only (we had also booked breakfast ) sorted fairly easily . If you go in the Bar / Restaurant be advised it's not cheap. The room was clean and well maintained.

"Good stay"
CharlieFR, 06 Décembre 2017

Stopped for one night on a business trip, was very impressed the minute I arrived, very friendly reception staff, no bother checking in, found room to be very clean, well furnished, nice bathroom and bed very comfortable. Evening meal was also very nice and good value, found lady in lounge bar very helpful and polite, like the way they address you by first name when taking food order at table. Breakfast was again very nice plenty of it and again staff very pleasant and attentive. Lounge area really nice and comfortable to relax and have a drink. On reception at checkout young lady very genuine when asking if my stay had been ok and if everything had been to my expectations. Would definately book again if working over that way again.

"Good service and food"
grahamj140, 05 Décembre 2017

Stayed for three nights. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room on the ground floor was adjacent the car park. The bathroom window had no blind and in the dark the frosted glass was almost transparent (I checked it from the car park) so no privacy fitted a temporary newspaper blind. Did ask about the lack of a blind told all the rooms are like that and it is not a problem as there is frosted glass fitted. The food in the restaurant was good, service was good apart from Sunday breakfast where there was a real decline in the level of service. Rooms need updating but are very clean. Would stay again prefereably not adjacent to the car park.

"DS Manchester"
denise s, 05 Décembre 2017

Stayed here prior to our function which was at the stables which is more or less next door, The bedrooms were clean and comfortable although a little dated. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. It is in very pleasant surroundings close to Bury town centre.

"Excellent"
Cazaa, 04 Décembre 2017

Stayed with family for a Christmas shopping break in Bury. Everything was first class, from the friendly receptionist who checked us in to the fantastic breakfast. Room exceeded our expectations....everything we needed and so clean. Will definitely be returning

"Christmas lunch"
Rod B, 03 Décembre 2017

Went with 19 other people for Christmas lunch, Starters all ok. Mains cold plates,4 cold small pieces of potato, gravy very thick brown extremely salty beef flavored. Same gravy used for Beef and Turkey dinners. When staff were asked about this we were told its normal stock we use and maybe it is a little too salty. Christmas pudding came several people sent them back to be reheated. If they cannot provide warm service for 20 people what are large receptions going to get? Would not recommend this to anybody.

"Mr Bruce Russell "
Bruce R, 30 Novembre 2017

An 8 strong team of us arrived for a business trip and were incredibly impressed with the welcome and service we received throughout our 8 week on and off stay.. a particular huge thank you too Ann behind the bar who was always welcoming.. friendly and would always go out of her way to make sure we were happy. Another thank you to Charlie who would always pop up with her helpful manor and ensure we were catered for with a smile.. Asher is another thank you well deserved who was happy to assist with all our needs and poured some lovely beers, finally Holly who was on the receiving end of Rubans banter and she took it very well.. a lovely girl who looked after us with a smile and a fantastic sense of humour (happy birthday for the 2nd Dec). See you soon everyone.. lots if love. Xxx

"Fantastic "
angieeasson, 30 Novembre 2017

I have been staying in this hotel for the last 7 weeks due to working away from home and I can honestly say it's one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The girls in reception are friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. The breakfast staff are amazing especially Charlie she makes me smile every day. The house keeping ladies are also fantastic and the rooms are spotless and very comfortable. As I am away from my home for such a long time it's important to me to feel comfortable and at home and the staff in the bolholt make my time away from my family enjoyable in fact they are becoming like family to me.. so thanks to all the bolholt staff I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The surroundings are also beautiful and relaxing. Can't praise this hotel enough and I will definitely be coming back.

"Very pleasant stay"
meleeblake, 30 Novembre 2017

I have been staying at this hotel for a few weeks now and have found the staff friendly and helpful making it a nice stay while away from home. The food is good and always good quality and the hotel is well presented and based in a beautiful area with nice rooms. Would definitely recommend it.

"Helpful and friendly staff, lovely venue"
bbqinvite1985, 30 Novembre 2017

staff were fantastic and lovely. Very accommodating and helpful. Looks amazing when inside and out side. Lovely service. Fantastic bed rooms and facilities. View from bedroom waste nice also. Highly recommended

"Pleasant weekend."
Derek S, 23 Novembre 2017

We were invited to a wedding and the reception was held in the Horseshoe room at the Country Club complex. Most of the wedding party booked in for the weekend which made it very cosy. The hotel is welcoming with a comfortable lounge and various dining rooms. The management need to keep an eye on the small things eg.our room had a patched up hole in one wall and the sink had a crack in it,also the dining room floor on Sunday still had stuff from the previous night.Breakfast was plentiful but a choice of eggs would have been appreciated, scrambled both mornings.Poached was available if you knew you could order it.Overall,a pleasant stay and would recommend it ,but take plenty of money as the meals and drinks can be expensive.

"Not great and that's a shame!"
Jo J, 19 Novembre 2017

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at the hotel as it is close to family, the reception tell us when we arrive that the swimming pool facilities are closed and we should have had an email explaining that , we didn't, but that didn't really concern us, because it was around 8pm when we checked in decided to eat at the resturant, awful food! I had a prawn cocktail to start and it was some shredded iceberg lettuce with the tiny frozen prawns on top and some squirty sauce ( you could see the swirls on the top from the bottle) tasteless and my grandaughter aged 3 could have put it together! My husbands food was so dry he could eat his neither, room dingy, breakfast Luke warm at best and very cheap ingredients, it's a shame because the location of the hotel is lovely, it could have been and should have been good.

"Weekend stay - some customer service needs to be worked on!"
Michelle B, 12 Novembre 2017

I stayed here with some friends as one of the group had an activity to attend. The room that I and a friend stayed in was adequate - few things wrong which were rectified when we told a helpful member of staff (tall male, curly hair and glasses) - only one hand towel between two females and one bottle of water between two people! After a very long journey, all we got when we arrived at the reception (and all we could see was a top of a head and eyes - very high reception desk!) was "Are ya checkin in?" We were informed earlier by our colleague that the pool facilities were out of action from the following night, we weren't informed at all about this, but did get a very measly £6 reduction on the room due to this! My friends and I were so looking forward to morning and evening swims, but only got one evening swim. Due to the fact that there were two weddings taking place while we stayed there, I'm surprised that the pool wasn't closed until after the weekend, ie the Sunday night. The stairs to our room were very steep too, and floors creaked when walked on. Breakfast was very good, so much choice, from cereals, yogurt and fruit, a full English breakfast - to pastries, toast, juices, tea and coffee. The staff were polite but I did find one or two of them a bit abrupt. The "smoking area" was just outside the main entrance, and the smell of smoke was coming through to the reception area, and it was unpleasant to smell it. Despite my "nitpickings" I would probably stay here again.

"Nice place. Worthy value."
User, 08 Novembre 2017

This is my third stay at the BW in Bury. Nice place. Attentive service at front desk and pub/restaurant. Worthy value. Lovely grounds. Great workout facility next door. Rooms are dated, but clean. Good WiFi signal.

"Best of the Best Westerns for us"
T9910KZpeterb, 07 Novembre 2017

we have taught our granddaughters to swim here and the whole setting is lovely no matter what time of year you go.The staff are very helpful and nothing is to much trouble for them to help.we go several times a year on our own or with family.

"Excellent actually, however, Best Western, take note!"
moocakeDerbyshire, 01 Novembre 2017

This review was written with the objective of capturing the attention of Best Western hotels, not necessarily the guests attention!. Overall, I liked this place (I'm in hotels most weeks for at least 2 nights on business) and would return here, however, Best Western, your Manager, front of house and your chef need to read this... My 'journey' during my three days stay... PARKING: Difficult. BT obviously use this hotel, based on the number of BT Openreach vans parked in the carpark, oh well, 3 hour journey, managed to park eventually... CHECK IN: All I saw when I entered the reception area were the top of three heads/ six eyes staring, all seated behind the highest reception desk. I was hoping that somewhere, behind the ridiculously high desk, would be a smile to welcome me, it may have been more welcoming had on of the three stood up, but no one did. * Best Western, your front of house lack any type of behaviours in terms of doing what they should be doing to welcome and engage with your customers, very poor and I feared the worst for what laid ahead... THE ROOM: I needn't have worried! Lovely room, clean, spacious and comfortable, what more could a guest ask for? *Best Western, bravo, lovely room! THE BAR AND DINING AREA: Beginning to feel much more relaxed, much happier. Lovely waiting staff, very friendly. Really enjoyed the comfortable and relaxing surroundings within the bar area. *Thank you to the lovely people here, so friendly and welcoming THE FOOD: Night one, very nice burger, feeling good about the hotel now. Night two, a decent steak with a very tasteless peppercorn sauce, maybe just a one off? Night three, "Dear Chef, please just Google Chicken Cesar Salad ingredients, both parmesan cheese and the correct dressing (any dressing!) would do nothing but enhance this dish! It really is an easy dish to 'knock up' *Best Western. Overall... Such a shame that, as always, the front of house and chef can impact so significantly (negatively) on an establishment.. I gave this review an 'excellent'. I sometimes stay in some dreadful places, this isn't one of them. Just frustrating that improved front of house and chef skills could take this hotel beyond what it is today....

"Noisy....very noisy!"
Pauliet, 01 Novembre 2017

Ok, staying here at the moment so writing this review in room 40 (garden suite). Hotel is in an area that looks a bit....rough to say the least. Hotel looks nice, set in nice grounds. Modern looking reception that checked me in quickly. Room is nice, good size with a 4 poster bed and new looking furniture. Bar area lacking a bit in atmosphere, not a bad menu choice but food not brilliant....burger was a little tactless, steak in the surf and turf inedible as so tough. Main problem however Is the noise....both in the restaurant and the rooms. It appears that the hotel is used a lot because HT as every night I've been here the car park is full of BT vans. Restaurant busy with groups of guts (BT people maybe) and to be honest the language is pretty foul. Doesn't bother me too much but an elderly couple in the table next to me looked very uncomfortable. The noise continues in the rooms. The room above me had quite possibly the creakiest, noisiest floor in f any hotel I've ever stayed in. You can hear pretty much everything from the tv they have on to their toilet habits....not pleasant. Got to the point where I had to go and complain to reception one night as the noise from a radio was so loud and no answer to my knocking on the room door....turns the occupant had gone out for the night and left the music on.......go figure. Thankfully reception went in the room and shut it off. Health club ok with plenty good machines but the changing rooms disgusting. Absolutely stank to high heaven of stale sweaty bodies (yes I know it's a gym but shouldnt ever get this bad) and to get to the showers you need to walk past the urinals ( tiled floor) yuck! All in all would I return? No, sorry.

"No better than any other chain hotel. "
Traci P, 29 Octobre 2017

Negative- same menu & specials for our four days stay. Ok if you enjoy lamb. Restaurant staff very fed up! Not well trained. Breakfast not worth £13.00 no better than a travel lodge..... Worse thing about breakfast ... serve till 9 or 9.30 weekend, and they do mean these times. Even while your eating they take the food/buffet away. 9am finish by 9.04 first morning everything had been cleared. Not even a slice of toast. second morning 9.30 finish but you won't get any thing to eat after 9.38. Chef took everything away. Still a restaurant full of people eating. Think the idea is, you get all your food all at once and leave it on your table. But be careful the waiting staff will clear your table just as fast as the buffet disapears . Best things- rooms large, clean and warm. Lots of tea, coffee and water on offer. Irons & boards in every room. Bar staff (Ash and another young lady) very nice and welcoming. Spa area looks nice but didn't use the facilities. Love the surrounding area, lots of green space to sit out on a nice day. Squirrels running round. Large pond out the front of hotel. Very well kept outside. Thumbs up for the gardener. Nice atmosphere in the bar area and clean. I would stay here again but wouldn't be my first choice on booking.com.

David S, 25 Octobre 2017

We had a lovely stay here in the Boltholt. Everything was lovely, the staff, the food, the venue, the grounds and the rooms. The breakfast was also first class the following morning, really good choices and great service.

"Quiet and pleasant surroundings"
Tony M, 24 Octobre 2017

We enjoyed our stay here over 3 nights when visiting the locality. The staff are all great and nothing was to much trouble. Great breakfast and restaurant food which was well presented. Would stay here again if in the area.

"lovely stay"
kerrybL6350AW, 23 Octobre 2017

we attended a friends wedding which i have to say was perfect in every way. The staff at the stables were lovely and the hairdressers were fab and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel staff were also lovely except one who to be fair was very rude and not helpful at all , for a bar worker she was not interested in the guest all she was interested in were the men who were from BT who were also staying in the hotel. Myself and some other guest were in the bar having a drink and watching the telly when the BT guys asked for the channel to be turned over to watch the football not once were any of the other guest asked if this was ok or if they were watching the programme already on , at this point 4 guests got up and left as they did not want the football on. This thankfully did not ruin my stay and my friends wedding.

"great stay"
831steve, 21 Octobre 2017

had a very good stay sorry only one night the staff are excellent and thank you to Zoe on reception and did not get a name but the young lady on the main bar on Friday evening who was so welcoming. Breakfast was nice and hot and dog-friendly was a help.

"Staff make this place!"
Kelly D, 18 Octobre 2017

I stayed here for two nights whilst working nearby. When I first arrived and checked in I felt the hotel was a little dated; however, it was clear money had been spent on it to try and make it look it's best. My room was huge, bed was comfortable, towels lovely and had everything I would expect. What really makes this hotel though are the staff. Every single interaction was a positive one; at reception, in the bar and restaurant and at the gym. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone made an effort to say hello, they even remembered my name despite the hotel being busy. It's very obvious that people working here like it as it comes across in their dealings with guests. Thank you for making those two nights of my week away for work, staying in different hotels, a pleasurable experience.

"Just Ok"
Liverpool0879, 15 Octobre 2017

Room was sufficient and had what you would expect, if quite dated. Breakfast was a mediocre buffet, with the milk being off when used for my tea. Staff were helpful enough. For the price I think you can find better elsewhere.

"it's alright if you need somewhere to stay"
blondetraveller2017, 13 Octobre 2017

hotel is quite dated with creaky floor boards etc. food isn't anything special, especially breakfast with cheap poor quality produce. Hotel staff never smile and don't seem happy to be there. However beds are comfy, the hotel surroundings are nice and the pool and sauna is amazing.

"This hotel has a heart of gold"
Tariq C, 10 Octobre 2017

Amazing staff, service, extremely clean rooms (and many being updated) and a great lounge bar. What else can you say? When I visit the area, its like coming home. I can't compliment the people who work here enough. This property made me a believer in Best Western again.

"No Sleep!!!"
suzannelG2864KI, 07 Octobre 2017

Believe me I don't normally leave a bad review or complain. We stayed here for 2 nights attending a family wedding with 2 young children. I can honestly say it's the worst 2 nights sleep I have ever had!! The noise from floor boards & other guests was unbelievable. We had people shouting, smoking in the rooms, arguing the lot. Where was the security? Smoke alarms? Mentioned this in the morning to reception & was told “you should of told us at the time”.... It was 3 in the morning!!. That was there only response. Will definitely would not stay here again. We are still suffering from it now. Tired!!!!!

"Real mixed bag"
Manxman99, 04 Octobre 2017

The positives - room was clean and staff were friendly. The leisure club is excellent. The negatives - whole place is very dated. Walls are thin so noise carries meaning disturbed sleep from banging doors and loud voices. Breakfast room had hosted a wedding event previous night and floor was still filthy with glitter and left over food. Not good enough! Dogs were allowed to enter breakfast room and sit on seats in lounge - neither are good for hygeine.

"Family stay - Sept 2017"
Cheri M, 02 Octobre 2017

Lovely helpful staff who could do enough to accommodate us given that we arrived past 9pm and after restaurant had closed. The rooms were both clean and tidy. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Parking free and way to get to. Would recommend.

"Loved the leisure club"
edinmanc, 01 Octobre 2017

Stayed here on sat night for 1 night only . We arrived at 1830 , an immediate check in , dropped off our bags and went to the leisure club for a swim and a clean up. We felt so refreshed after it . We went to the bar for a couple of drinks before our meal , it was quite busy as there was a wedding on next door, which was the opposite of the restaurant as we were the only diners . We ate off the set menu , and thought it was good value , and apart from my wife thinking her pasta was a bit bland , it was excellent . Next morning we went straight to the leisure club for a good workout :-) . The amount and variety of equipment is immense, it has to be right up there for hotels gym , and the 'wet' side is superb . We didn't have a breakfast which is the norm for us. Special mention must go to Ash the duty manager, even though he was busy with the wedding , he took time out to come and chat with us when we were in the restaurant and bar and regaled us with stories of the hotels ghosts and other stories . A nice personal touch which made us feel valued , thanks Ash :-) A great stay for us and would stay again.

"Great services for one-night stay"
Sergio D, 29 Septembre 2017

The facilities were great (bar, restaurant, leisure). Helpful waiters. The room was kept warm and quiet at night. Breakfast was good too (no scrambled eggs though, at opening time 6:30). Excellent choice.

"Amazing stay!!"
Jak674, 26 Septembre 2017

As a family we stay in Bury quite a lot. Normally at the village. As we couldn't get in there we decided to try this hotel. Staff are amazing and so helpful and polite. From the reception staff to the bar staff they really make you feel welcome. Our rooms were clean and modern, have all the facilities you would need. Breakfast was good. The managed to seat our large family all at one table and staff were very attentive. The pool area is massive and clean. Sections for adults only which was good to have the choice. We all would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here from now on!

"overnight stay for wedding"
mrs lynne r, 25 Septembre 2017

Guest at a family wedding - Good location as hotel is close to motorway network . Staff very professional and helpful , service very good .Hotel is comfortable and clean but very dated- this is reflected in the pricing , therefore represents value for money.

"nothing special..."
Anne C, 25 Septembre 2017

attended a wedding and booked the room with breakfast to make the most of the big day. Room was tired and dated..(very brown!!) however bedding/bathroom clean. Breakfast experience the next day was not the best.. no tables available, not enough staff to get tables etc clean and deliver tea/coffee etc to tables in timely manner.. cooked food came adhoc to buffet serving dishes... had to wait/fight over the bacon/eggs :o) - a very average experience. Slept well.. but that may have been helped by the booze !!

"Worst breakfast of all time shame on you"
Paul C, 24 Septembre 2017

Stayed for a wedding which was lovely .. Bar staff and all waiting staff were brilliant but that's where the good part ends its all doom from here. Checked into room £75 for bnb for night not cheap and that was discounted rate for the wedding party. Room was tired and dated very 90s and had an a smell of mould. Was clean though and heating worked once we turned it on. Got up next day went down for breakfast absolute chaos in dining room full to brim no where to sit and about as big as a double garage ......we fell lucky as while the poor young man was scratching his head wondering where to put us a couple got up and left so we grabbed the table. It was quickly cleaned and table cloth changed. A pot of tea was quickly delivered. Went to get my fry up self service happy days .....no bacon ready, no sausages and no scrambled eggs. Okay I'll get my toast first only one slice of brown bread for toaster asked if any more ,,,sorry all gone. Okay made some whit toast and joined the queue of guests waiting for bacon etc. When bacon arrived about 15 slices it was thinner than paper and all burnt and in the blink of an eye all gone. Oh well at least plenty of sausage so grabbbed 3 ......couple of slices of black pud and the scrambled eggs had been filled so a scoop of eggs. Got back to my table and tasted my £12.95 breakfast. Disgusting doesn't come in to it sausages where cheap frozen rubbish tasted like cardboard and had obviously been cooked in deep fat fryer as burnt on outside and cold in middle so cooked straight from frozen. Bacon shattered like glass when I cut into it and eggs were overdone like rubber small saving grace was the black pudding. Your lucky this breakfast came free so to speak with the room or I would have deffo complained. You should be ashamed serving food like that at that price. Do yourselves a favour and go to premier inn and see how they do breakfast £5 cheaper than yours too. £12.95 for brekkie really your having a laugh. Worst meal I've had in my 45 years on earth well done

"Nice hotel for our anniversary"
BoltonMother3, 23 Septembre 2017

Staff at reception were very nice and helpful. We'd booked a garden view room, it was a good size, clean, had a four poster bed and even though there was a wedding and a 60th on at the time we stayed it was peaceful. The bathroom had the most powerful shower we'd ever had and the water was nice and hot. There is a children/family pool as well as a adult only pool( this one was slightly nippy) and jaccuzzis all these areas were clean although the changing/shower area could probably do with a bit of an update. Breakfast was a buffet style which actually worked out well, the food was nice and hot. The only thing that let it down was the murder mystery and disco . The food was very nice but not alot of it i.e 2 tiny roast potatoes, tables were set out well but we found the murder mystery dragged, all the actors didn't have mics so we missed some of it and it felt like they were just there to get their dinner and a drink. Then the disco never really got started. It was just aswell we were with friends so we had a good catch up.

"Excellent staff, nice place"
emmalA9178TT, 18 Septembre 2017

I really enjoyed my overnight stay. The food was good and the room was nice and clean, but the highlight was the great, friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely return if I were in the area. Good job!

"As usual fantastic"
DavidAWilson, 15 Septembre 2017

I've never had one single bad experience here. Highly recommended hotel. The setting is beautifully presented, the interior is comfortable and the staff are a credit to there company. I've been going here since the 80s and its never let me down!

"Nice cozy hotel"
Kevin1805, 12 Septembre 2017

Currently staying here and I must say that I am very happy with the whole experience. Check in was straight forward and my room is quite large, clean and tidy. All of the staff are really friendly and nothing is too much bother for them, breakfast is quite varied with a cooked or continental option and the evening meals in the bar or restaurant are 100%. I honestly cant fault anything here and I would most definitely use again for business or holiday visits

"Business visit"
woodersbraid, 11 Septembre 2017

Very friendly staff who actually seem to enjoy you visiting! Hotel a. It out of town but plenty of parking and good gym. Breakfast is a bit uninspiring but covers most bases. Some rooms need updating but if you drop lucky

"Nice grounds. Rooms comfortable"
peterca20, 06 Septembre 2017

Recently stayed here for one night. The rooms are comfortable, though a little dated. Grounds are very nice. We were disturbed at about 10.30pm by children making a noise outside our room, who were from a wedding being held at the hotel.

"Nice place"
I2646XRkevinv, 04 Septembre 2017

Very clean and tidy, nice room but no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, nice to have an iron and ironing board though. Lots of stairs to our room so anyone with mobility problems should arrange a ground floor room. Nice and quiet, very scenic and very pleasant staff . It's close to Bury, very cheap for taxis and we will stay here again.

"would not stay here again"

mattress need renewing, staff were not helpful or friendly, worst place i have stayed in, it was my nieces wedding, the bridal suite was no different then other rooms, she was very disappointed. we booked three rooms in january, friends book theres a week before, and had a lovely room

"All about the staff"
800rickyb, 28 Août 2017

Great food and hospitality with everything at and in hand. The rooms are clean and very cosy, in addition the leisure facilities are great with all you need to wind down after a long day, but the staff are what really makes this hotel.

"Wedding"
steven w, 23 Août 2017

I recently attended a wedding at the Bolholt. The young lady who was organising the staff was very good and a nice pleasant lady as well. One of the guests became ill and had to be taken to hospital and she was very helpful. The rest of the staff ...... Well mmmm. When the wine was being poured by the waiters one tried to put red wine in my empty lager pot instead of the wine glass!!!, later in the evening I went to the bar and asked for 2 cups of tea, a young kid who needs a lesson in customer service served me, he brought 2 cups of tea with no milk , I asked him where the milk was and his reply was that there would probably be some on the tables as the tea had been served to the guests about 1/2 previously, by this time he was leaning all over the bar. I made it plain that I was not impressed.

"Stayed 2 nights for a friends wedding"
kayet2610, 21 Août 2017

Over all a lovely stay with good facilities and clean rooms. Stayed in room 10 on the sofa bed which was not good, mattress thin and sofa quite tired, ended up putting mattress on floor, rest of room was clean and good facilities. Second night room 62, excellent, clean and spacious with lovely thick towels. Breakfast was brilliant and plenty of it. Minor thing, wedding was held at the Stables which was about a 6 min walk away, umbrellas would have been a really useful thing to have, apparently when asked they did provide them but had none at the hotel, maybe purchase more or staff could bring them back and forth on their travels? Just a suggestion, especially when you have heels and a posh frock on! The wedding was beautiful, excellent food and staff very friendly and polite. Could have done with a couple more staff at the bar as one young lady was all on her own for quite a while. But overall couldn't fault it.

"Lovely hotel"

Perfect for family holiday very happy with the staff and service received highly recommend thank you so much to the staff at the hotel especially the reception ladies and the lady at the bar she was very polite and helpful

"OK hotel with some issues"
W2985EAanon, 15 Août 2017

Very good location for us as we were visiting friends in the local area. The food in the restaurant was great. Overall good service from staff but a bit haphazard at times. Pretty clean. A bit noisy due to a wedding but not as bad as I feared. Room we had (no 2) was ok but only natural was from 2 small windows about 12 feet in the air as the room was in the eaves, so not much fresh air either.

"wedding party"

Ideal place if you are attending the venue at the stables. Professional and helpful staff Food was excellent at the Stables, nice breakfast at the Bolholt. Clean rooms nice chatty staff. Enjoyed our stay just wish circumstances were different.

"Average night away"
User, 13 Août 2017

Spent the night after attending a wedding at the hotel. Nothing really to shout about, was ok just for 1 night stay. Rooms very small, think we had a refurbished room but was very basic. The bed was really hard and would class it as a small double. The room had a kettle, iron and board so everything you need. Would I stay again? Probably not for the price we paid I'm sure there are far superior hotels.

"Aways welcome"

After 6 months away staff still remembered me. Ann and Porsche in the bar keep thing running smoothly. Good value rooms with Freeview TV, Iron, Tea and coffee (under table in cupboard) Very clean non smoking rooms. Plenty of parking, fitness and pool facilities, excellent breakfast.

Great hotel with good food. Room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Hotel team are an asset to the hotel always smiling and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was home from home and thank you so much. I look forward to my next stay when I am in the area

"Family fun"
681staceyg, 03 Août 2017

We attended a wedding at the country house attached to the hotel, the staff where great although a little eager at clearing glasses off tables. The hotel was nice and our room still had enough room despite that we had a double sofa bed and travel cot for the children.

"wedding reception"
844guestl, 02 Août 2017

excellent facilities for functions. great location for photographs. could reduce the prices at the bar, a bit inflated, however, you pay the price for the location as there are no other drinking places within walking distance.

"Great for our wedding reception"
lmagbr, 01 Août 2017

Thank you to all the staff at the Bolholt who ensured we had a great wedding reception. The service by all staff was fantastic, and we were looked after very well throughout our stay here. Particular thanks to Sarah for the preparations beforehand and Dan for overseeing the running of the day/evening The food was delicious and the rooms were of good quality. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding reception, thank you to all the staff for their hard work and attentiveness

"clean spacious property near Manchester"
susan s, 31 Juillet 2017

This Best Western is 30 minutes or so outside of Manchester and is a pleasant hotel to stay in for a night or two. The property and rooms are clean, roomy, and the staff is attentive and friendly. The bed and pillows were a little bit lumpy and the room didn't have any shampoo in the bathroom (perhaps you had to request it) so I believe if you are staying just a night or two, it is fine.

"Great weekend venue for a Wedding Reception"
philadams0n, 30 Juillet 2017

Attended my daughter's wedding reception at the Hotel at weekend. The staff were brilliant prior to the day in ensuring that everything was set up and ready for guests arriving after the Church. All guests were made to feel welcome, and the Manager personally ensured that the day went smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious, the service excellent and the venue was great for such an event. Many of the party stayed overnight and enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the morning. I would not hesitate in recommending this Hotel, Thank you

"overnight stop in quiet location"
Mintcake-David, 26 Juillet 2017

lovely surroundings, just a shame we didn't have the time to look round. Room was clean and tidy, bath towel rail needed repairing and the spring doors could do with adjusting so they do not slam shut in the middle of the night. Didn't get the chance to use other facilities, shame really, just didn't have the time.

"Hotel for work course"
jamie s, 26 Juillet 2017

Enjoyed my stay and look forward to staying again. I would say the drinks at the bar are quite expensive for the north west of England and can put you off having more drinks than you perhaps want to have or would usually have.

"Breakfast trauma"
philipn73, 25 Juillet 2017

The very best breakfast ever, marred only by cold plates. BUT, because I mentioned it one of the staff, on the second morning of our stay very warm plates were provided in an instant. By the way, where do they obtain the bacon, sausages and black pudding s. They are truly delicious.

"would visit again"

good value for money hotel , fitness facilities excellent two swimming pools just what we needed , staff friendly, would visit again got a good nights sleep , cheap taxi in to bury very nice setting ,,

"Lovely leisure facilities and breakfast"
Holiday-Mum-9, 16 Juillet 2017

Good for visiting Bury (with excellent links to Manchester). Not up to usual Best WEstern standards. Rooms are dated - they could never have been described as luxurious - but spacious and clean. Nice outside seating area. Bar smells foisty. Leisure facilities are great. Most staff are polite and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely.

"Very disappointed"
sanchivers, 16 Juillet 2017

we were in the rooms over the restaurant part. The stairs were very steep and narrow. The corridor leading to the room was very narrow. The room itself was small and had a strange smell. The bed was just a double, unusual for hotels these days. The hot and cold buttons on top of the taps were reversed, quite dangerous if you put you hand under what you thought was cold water. The Bolholt is badly in need of a complete refurbishment, the doors in the public areas are all badly scratched. On the plus side the staff can't do enough for you, very friendly.

"Friendly Hospitality"
walterbE1729JL, 15 Juillet 2017

This is a friendly hotel in a beautiful setting with ample parking and attractive facilities. My wife and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for friendly accommodation in the Bury area.

"Wondrefull 3 night stay"
Marco F, 13 Juillet 2017

Had a lovely 3 night stay at the Bolholt. Refurbed rooms with excellent location, staff and breakfast. Also great value for money at £81.00 p/night and Best Western Reward points also a big bonus. Buffet breakfast also a plus

The location, the venue plus blessed with good weather made our stay an excellent experience for us, all our family, friends and visitors. Nothing was too much by all the friendly, welcoming staff. Many thanks.

"Friendly staff, however, cupboard in the room, where tea/coffee, cups were stored had not been dusted and was quite off-"
Z1615GJjohnm, 07 Juillet 2017

Better care needed on some of the cleanliness of the rooms. Staff were very polite. Bar staff, nice and food was nice. Cover at bottom of my bed had marks on it and inside of the cupboard where the tea/coffee and cups were, had not been dusted and was thick with stoor.

When we visit this are the Bolholt Country Park Hotel is always one of our choices. We've always been happy with a stay here and this most recent one was no exception. A great position and lovely setting.

"Great hotel with friendly staff!"
kornbabe81, 01 Juillet 2017

Really enjoyed our stay at the Bolholt Hotel. The hotel has a nice old charm that you don't get with a big chain hotels. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly, always smiling and willing to help. Would recommend!

"Friendly Hotel"
paul h, 29 Juin 2017

Always good service and friendly staff. Always plenty of parking spaces within yards of the hotel. Rooms are always adequately stocked with tea/coffee/ biscuits/water. Curtains are extra good for blocking out light,so for once I slept in, in the middle of summer. Probably helped by the comfortable bed

"Best Western - The Best?"
B1530RHchrisc, 28 Juin 2017

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Bury area, it could be worth trying somewhere else. I don't know what alternatives there are around this area but this hotel is dreary, old and staff seemed to be very disinterested.

We arrived on thursday evening, spoke to receptionist quite friendly, we were in room 42, very noisey with doors banging, bedroom clean except for net curtains and window dirty. tap in bathroom loose. food was good not much choice, breakfast average, whole place lacked atmosphere wouldnt go again.

"Relaxed atmosphere."

Excellent hotel if you are staying for business or just a family get away. Wonderful staff, always prepared to go the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one. Food is tasty, with a good choice of menus.

"Wedding party"
roaminglady52, 20 Juin 2017

Attended my cousins wedding on the 17th June and stayed overnight. A really lovely hotel set in gardens and a wooded area. the lake is really a large pond but you can't have everything. Rooms are very comfortable and yes a little dated. This is an old building but I feel that is part of it's charm. Breakfast was the best I have had anywhere so we may come back. This was the hottest weekend of the year so you will need a fan from Reception. There is no air conditioning. Overall a great weekend.

"Disappointing"
Samantha S, 18 Juin 2017

Bedroom smelt musty. Iron in poor condition...nearly ruined my expensive dress. Poor attendance on Reception, no signs of a duty manager all weekend.. so couldn't discuss concerns. Room allocated in Quiet Zone...never had such a poor night's sleep in a hotel due to noise both inside and outside. Really poor quality sausages, orange juice tasted diluted, dirty coffee cup, had to ask for a change and coffee strength really weak at breakfast otherwise average.Won't be returning. Would rather have discussed concerns with hotel before posting.

"1 night stay for parklife"

Booked parklife very last minute and found this hotel to be one of the few remaining with availability. Didn't have high expectations as we just needed a room however I was pleasantly surprised. Had a phone call explaining the extra deposits required for festival accommodation which I understood and was fine with, all explained clearly and e-mail followed which explained it again. Paid on arrival, was allowed to check in earlier than advertised which was a bonus as meant we could dump our stuff and go! Room was clean & tidy and fresh didn't appear 'dated' in any way compared to some hotels I have been in. Hotel organised our taxi for us to the festival which as there where a few festival goers and a wedding on with many ppl coming and going they had a very organised system in place, very impressed! We got back at a late hour (maybe 2am ish). Met by the night guard who gave us bin liners for our muddy boots. He was high spirited and made us feel very welcome having a laugh n a joke with us. Got to our room, bed was comfy... that's all we needed, and room was quiet. Check out was smooth and easy Hotel was in nice grounds and plenty of Parking.

"Standard"
Jean D, 29 Mai 2017

Booked 2 nights, first room we were given we found bed unmade which was completely unacceptable reported to reception who found us another room which was on the ground floor and much nicer. Woken up at 3.00am with shouting and doors banging (although signs said Quiet Zone). Found the hotel had ok facilities, rooms basic, tea and coffee in the room which was nice, parking adequate, wifi practically non existent kept dropping out.

"Lovely hotel and grounds "
joanne b, 29 Mai 2017

I stayed here as part of a wedding party which it is perfect for. It's very quaint looking with gorgeous grounds. The room I stayed in was clean and comfy, the single bed was really comfy I slept really well, but like several others in the party was still being cleaned at 3.30pm when we got there. The meal and room where we had the reception was lovely but drinks were expensive. The breakfast was great with lots of choice.

"Very poor"
Craig S, 23 Mai 2017

Think I was given the worst room in the hotel. Floor uneven. Not a comfy bed. Window was 8 feet up and I couldn't reach to open or close it even on a chair. Gap between bath and wall to get to toilet was so narrow. A lovely approach seemed so promising to be given a lousy room. Best Western are on my list of brands to avoid.

annebdt, 23 Mai 2017

Stayed here for 2 nights clean and tidy hotel Room was clean but hairdryer was connected to the wallwith the cable going via a drawer and did not Wedding party and a beauty pagent were booked in also so hotel was very busy and noisey On second morning had run out of items for breakfast but staff not keen to top up/replace items which was disappointing especially as friend didnt eat anything else on the menu Had to go out for something for her Lovely clean hotel with polite staff in beautiful surroundings

"A pleasant overnight stay"
Gavin C, 21 Mai 2017

Booked two rooms at the Bolholt country Park Hotel, as with most Best Western Hotels, it was fairly basic yet still a pleasant stay. We felt all the staff we spoke to were first class which was rare. The rooms were a good size and parking was fine. We had some sandwiches which were probably the only dissappointing part of the stay, poor quality and overpriced. Other than that we would certainly recommend the venue.

"Friendly overnight stay"
ErrantX, 16 Mai 2017

Standard you'd expect from a Best Western; good quality rooms, friendly staff and good amenities. The chef made hot food at lunch for us despite handing a large birthday party. The swimming pool is in the next-door health spa. The pool itself was great; although they had no towels when we went (not the hotels fault; but consider taking your own just in case). Rooms were clean, decoration was a little outdated but the furniture was plentiful and functional. Shower rated an 8/10 because although it was powerful it didn't come out quite far enough over the bath for a tall person like me. Clearly the hotel is a regular wedding venue but we didn't feel we were intruding; there is enough space and privacy. The only downside was breakfast; there had obviously been a "run" on the buffet and the kitchen struggled to keep up. Once obtained the breakfast was nice enough, it just took a long time and several queues to get a plate!

"Nice hotel"
Andrew C, 15 Mai 2017

Stayed here for one night. Rooms are accessible via a lovely garden. There is a restaurant on site and a nice bar. Ample parking and you can use the gym and spa facilities on the same estate. Only a short journey to Bury centre and motor way

"Trip on the steam train"
joydarc, 03 Mai 2017

Fabulous hotel.. Gym next door amazing, welcoming, and free... Two pools...Sauna, gym etc,, Staff very welcoming. Hotel clean, warm... I would recommend this hotel Breakfast ok.. Help yourself to cereals etc., then waitress service for hot food. Tad over cooked...

"Pleasant location, nice hotel with swimmng facilities."
SteveBalstone, 02 Mai 2017

We stayed on a Saturday night over the May bank holiday weekend. There was a wedding reception / party taking place. Lovely to see people enjoying themselves. The party did not disturb our stay at all. The grounds and gardens are nice. The lake perhaps needs some freshening up. Make full use of the swimming facilities if you can. 2 pools, 2 Jacuzzis, sauna, steam room and cold dip pool. Not busy at all. Our room was very dated, (Artex ceiling, bible, clock radio etc) but the bathroom with bath and shower was very modern. Getting upstairs is not easy with extremely narrow and steep stairs. The corridor is wide enough for just one person. This is our second visit. Fairly happy for a £70 per night stay. SteveBalstone.

"Great staff very friendly, good food"
BellaPeterborough, 26 Avril 2017

Stayed for 1 night and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Room slightly dated but very comfortable. We ate in the lounge and our meals were very tasty. All staff were very welcoming. Best night sleep I have had in a hotel. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay there again. Rooms at the back of the property are very quiet.

"Great hotel"
kornelia00, 19 Avril 2017

Lovely hotel that I usually stay in, if I need to travel up for work. Great scenery, especially during those warmer days. The hotel has as much as I need for the overnight stay. Always a great rate, even at last minute

"Beautiful grounds"
janmag2015, 10 Avril 2017

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a coach tour package. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was small (double), but comfortable and clean. Meals were good, being part of a coach tour meant we were offered our own menu of 3 choices for starter, main course and dessert. We also had a set dining time. The food was very good and portion sizes I felt were just right. Breakfast was a buffet with juices, fruits, cereals, pastries and several choices of cooked items. You can request an egg cooked to your personal preference which is always a great option. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and well maintained.

"Super friendly, relaxing stay"
Sal353, 04 Avril 2017

We stayed one night as we had a meeting in Bury the following day. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms spacious, clean and nicely decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant and what lovely large portions, I couldn't do my meal justice even though the food was very good. The spa facilities were excellent and we even enjoyed a pre-breakfast swim. I'd happily stay and eat here again.

"Overnight Stay "
Gordon C, 04 Avril 2017

I stayed here with work overnight and it was a really nice hotel.. The room was very comfortable and cosy. The bathroom suite was nice and the shower was powerful. I had some bar food too. The burger was so greasy though. Had to eat it with a fork and knife. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

"Friday night stop over."
Marc W, 31 Mars 2017

Second stay here prior to a busy day in Manchester and it is fantastic value for money. Quiet location and a good place to start for visits throughout the area. Staff are very pleasant and the hotel is clean and the food is very high quality, being vegetarian it's not always accommodated well, however plenty of fruit and yoghurt and a large bowl of porridge for breakfast. Leisure facilities are amazing with a good gym and sauna on site and you're allowed to use until 2pm which is a major plus compared to some. Highly recommended and will be staying here whenever visiting the area.

"Friends wedding - overnight stay "
RaewynLancashire, 25 Mars 2017

We stayed here as our friends wedding was held at the country club close by. The hotel has everything you need, bar and food etc. And it is fine for an over night stay. Our room had dated furniture, but the bed was comfy and the room was clean. We were the first people in the restaurant for breakfast and the food was good, we needed to ask for butter and more milk for coffee. As we left where breakfast was served, all the staff were sat directly at the entrance to the room all causally chatting, which seemed unprofessional to me, even if we were the only two customers around. I would say this hotel is a good 3 star hotel which is fine for a quick overnight stay.

"Value for money hotel"
Angie_n_Lee, 28 Novembre 2016

Friendly and helpful staff upon arrival. Room clean, light and airy with a comfortable bed. Relaxed and cosy bar area open until late. The only negative was the hot water which took about 5 minutes for it to become warm and then eventually hot, and the extractor fan was very noisy too. Value for money on a room only basis. Would definitely stay here again.

"Good break"
Patricia H, 27 Novembre 2016

We really enjoyed staying here, staff were so helpful, food was very good, nothing was too much trouble, will definitely book again when travelling to this ares. Did not get a chance to use leisure centre, but will next time

"Mums 70th birthday spa and stay "
mummyw0ng, 21 Novembre 2016

What a fantastic weekend, took mum for a spa break for her birthday. The carriages spa was small but made it all the more special and personal, we had a back/shoulder massage with facial. Which was perfect. There are two pools a big one with a Jacuzzi on the side and a smaller pool. As I'm not a confident swimmer I used the smaller of the pools, which was so warm! With addition of the jacuzzi in the pool aswell as a separate one on the side just perfect. The changing room were clean and well maintained with good hair dryers and lockers. There is a steam room and sauna which we didn't use. We stayed in the family room 55 it was big and clean. Beds were comfy not to hard, The staff were all very helpful and polite. We had a light lunch after our treatments which was yum a variety of sandwiches, grapes, crisps and a toffee muffin!. We will be visiting again in the near future.

"Weekend away"
User, 13 Novembre 2016

Fantastic hotel, easy to find. Fast check inn. Friendly reception team. Clean and comfy bedroom and bathroom. Lovely gardens. Lovely breakfast cooked to order on Saturday morning. A little disappointed on Sunday it was pre cooked and served buffet style (kept hot) was lovely though and the waiting on and serving staff were very friendly even got us hash browns which weren't on the options. Made you feel nothing was any trouble. Came back to the hotel after a days shopping room was spotlessly cleaned and tidy. Towels, tea/coffee supplies etc replenished. Short walk into Bury town centre from hotel. Would 100% return here and highly recommend. Thank you to all.

"Ok hotel for business"
davedarkins, 11 Novembre 2016

Nice location, reasonable hotel, but no more than 3 star rating, room comfortable and well equips, but shower dissapointing, low water pressure and water flow. Reported tonreception, but no improvement after being "sorted" (allegedly) Food in restaurant ok, but service a bit slow,

"Comfortable room "
Tamara H, 09 Novembre 2016

Stayed 2 nights here after a long flight from Australia. We chose Bury as we had an event there on one of the nights. It was a lovely hotel, and even with weddings on it was very quiet. Will stay here again on my next visit over.

"Wedding"
Mark H, 05 Novembre 2016

Called here for a friend's wedding, the place overall looks clean and tidy, but I have found the bar staff not to be that helpful, I have purchased San Miguel at £4.50 a pint which I understand is hotel prices, but to not have it served in the correct glass, which almost makes the beer flat and in drinkable is a joke. If you can't supply the correct glass, don't charge the extortionate prices. As you can see in the picture it's totally flat.

Lovely place so friendly and quite an oasis in a busy area ! We had a family room and it was fantastic, the hotel was clean and tidy , could use a refresh but nothing that would offend you ! Great food brilliant atmosphere excellent value for money , had a fabulous stay and it made for a memorable wedding !

"Fab stay"

Overnight stay was fantastic! Great value for money, lovely, well equipped rooms, spotlessly clean and the staff were all really pleasant and helpful. Plenty of parking for our car and the hotel is set in beautiful surroundings. Definitely somewhere I would stay again.

I stayed here while i visited the east lancs railway. The hotel is a short taxi ride from the hotel, the hotel its self is very nice with lots of friendly staff. The room was clean and thankfully had kettle in the room. The bar had a good selection of wiskeys as well

"Value for money"
Adrian m, 30 Octobre 2016

Booked a one night stay while visiting Bury market and we must say for the price the rooms and service was good and the meals both in the evening and breakfast was first class. Paid more at one of these national travel inns and got no were near the service.

"Visiting family in Bury"
Christine Anne B, 29 Octobre 2016

Although the blind in the bathroom was a little battered, the hot water takes time to come through and the bedding could be updated, this hotel is a God send. It's close to the town center yet far enough away to be private. I believe it's child friendly as we have encountered children in the pool area in the past, and restaurant on this visit and although personally I like adult only venues, this has never been a problem on our 2 visits. On this occasion we didn't take advantage of their pool, spa and gym facilities but have in the past and found them excellent. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and the Saturday morning breakfast is cooked to order and is yummy. Order what you want and ask for how you would like it cooked and it's no problem ( this is worth its weight in gold for me) I cannot stand hot food that's cold. Sunday morning was buffet type breakfast (this could have been due to the wedding party on Saturday night) with hot food in metal covered containers but served by staff, only scrambled egg on display but alternative options by request available. However, the downside for omlette, poached or fried egg is the wait Whilst there could be improvements to decor, for value for money, I would challenge anyone to beat it. Thr icing on the cake for our last visit was how impressed we were that the staff and management went out of their way to accommodate us on charging our car. We have a Tesla and they do not have dedicated facilities for electric cars but provided a charging point after the manager Dan moved his car from his parking place so that we could plug in to an outside point for overnight trickle charge. Well done Bolholt. Over and above job description to please your guests. No question we'll book again.

"Poor rooms friendly staff"
tom22106, 27 Octobre 2016

Rooms 34 & 35 on ground floor had no or broken locks to some windows in the room. No hand soap provided only soap dispensers over bath in awkward position. Room 34 very dark and small. Both room 34 & 35 not inspected thoroughly as they were still harbouring last guests hair.

"Overnight stay"
Mick C, 19 Octobre 2016

Ample car parking, very pleasant staff, room good let down by dated bathroom and pathetic shower. Excellent breakfast. Would stay again but request another room as we may just have been unlucky on this occasion.

"wedding guest"
hilary h, 17 Octobre 2016

We attended a wedding and stayed over night. We found our room to be comfortable and had everything we needed. The kettle, cups, tea, coffee and hot chocolate was in the cupboard of the dressing table. We also had biscuits and a bottle of water in there. The bathroom also had toiletries. The wedding was well organised, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful from the cleaners to reception and bar. The breakfast was plentiful and well presented. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

"Folk Festival Find"
mediastar-1, 17 Octobre 2016

When I saw the line up I was determined to attend the Homegrown Folk Festival and I was not disappointed. I then had a problem finding a place to stay, obviously, the festival and the presence of the "Flying Scotsman" in the town made hotel/b&b rooms rare. However, this hotel was available for the two nights and although I was nervous of being so far from the centre, it wasn't a problem. There are loads of cabs, but I do recommend using the same company that the hotel uses, slightly cheaper than off the rank and the cars and drivers are professionally presented (as I found out when thinking that I was getting into my booked cab I realised I had been misled, the difference, as I insisted on being returned to where my cab was waiting for me, between the vehicles was marked and in the attitude of the drivers). That aside, the hotel has lovely grounds, apparently, as I found out from a lovely lady, Max, who sat beside me at the concert on Saturday evening, the gym and other facilities are excellent, but I was there for the music so didn't get to try them out. My room was really large for a single with some lovely porthole windows a frosted one in the bathroom and a regular window in between. I arrived just in time after a fraught week of eye problems, for the first concert, then took a cab up to the hotel where the very pleasant night manager was waiting to check me in. There was a short flight of steps to my room, so would recommend asking for a groundfloor room if you have issues with steps, he very gentlemanly carried my bag up for me, but I didn't have a problem carrying it back down, although I saw someone else struggle. Being on the opposite side of the annex from the main building with an outlook over the countryside, it was very quiet and that was good as there was a wedding disco on when I arrived back, but I was barely aware of it. Breakfasts were fine, good choice, well laid out etc, ok quality (let's say I've had worse quality bacon and sausages in more expensive establishments). Be aware on the Sunday after the wedding there were some over excited children running around and you have to trek across a hall to fetch your food as the hotel was very busy and I almost lost my cereal to a child who ducked round me as I was nearly going through a doorway, the father was not impressed that I remonstrated with the blessed darling, hmmm! My usual bugbear that minor issues of maintenance that had not been brought to the attention of housekeeping, before I arrived such as a non working shaver light in the bathroom and the curtain being slightly off its track making drawing the curtains at night for cosiness rather than privacy requirements somewhat difficult and awkward, it can't be that difficult to have the staff perform a snagging list as they clean after each guest leaves, surely? Those are very minor niggles, the room was large and clean, crisp white bedding, although the bed runner should have been taken away for a clean before I arrived. good mirrors, well planned plugs, big bathroom with ok toiletries, I have to say, if the shower is centrally fed, then it needs improved thermostatic controls, it changed temperature on more than one occasion. That being said, it is has a good ambience, it is clean and reasonably comfortable, if asked, given the opportunity I would stay again.

"Great find"
Linda M, 14 Octobre 2016

Anniversary weekend trip to visit East Lancashire Railway Centre for trip of a lifetime on the Flying Scotsman. Hotel has great tasting food, extensive menu, efficient service, wonderful staff. Comfortable four poster bedroom. Clean and warm. The staff couldn't do enough to make the weekend special. Efficient taxi service into the town centre. Cheaper than bus and door-to-door - this was the hotels recommendation. Lovely anniversary weekend spent in Bury, explored the town, including the famous Bury Market, visited the beautiful Parish Church, enjoyed a tasty meal and few drinks at The Clarence - highly recommended. Hope to be back soon to explore the area around Bury more. Thankyou very very much.

"Good staff, bad food"
Glenn D, 14 Octobre 2016

Staff here are very polite and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Avoid their restaurant though! The starters were very poor and the main meals were worse. Fish was overcooked and prawns were difficult to chew. The mixed grill had several meat cuts that could not be identified by appearance or taste. At £16.95 I expected something better. One wine glass was so dirty it was stuck to the table and the other was covered in pink lipstick smears. Breakfast next morning was no better, I only wanted sausage, bacon & beans but they took three attempts before I got the right food. As it turns out the food was freezing cold and inedible. Listen Best Western, Anne, who dealt with our complaint, is clearly an asset to you - I hope you appreciate her!

"Wedding "
Nathan R, 09 Octobre 2016

We recently had our wedding at the Stables Country Club which is situated within the same grounds as the Bolholt. We stayed at the Bolholt for two nights in the honeymoon suit. The room was huge, comfortable and clean. No faults. The staff here are very polite and friendly, they even made our pooch feel welcome. The guy who was meeting and greeting in the morning even took time out to see how our special day was despite the breakfast room being full. Breakfast is buffet style and there's plenty of choice. I would definitely recommend the Bolholt Hotel. Thanks again for an enjoyable stay.

"Lovely wedding venue"
janicehalliday59, 09 Octobre 2016

Attended a wedding here was a lovely place the meal was really nice and the reception room was nice stayed over night at the hotel room was lovely and clean only problem was it was quite a walk from the wedding venue to the hotel and was uneven ground to walk on lucky didn't have heals on then going back to hotel at night was very unlit in parts which was a problem as my mother was using a walking aid early on after we unpacked a very kind hotel worker drove us over to the reception from the hotel when another guest had pointed out the problem with walking on the uneven path with the mobility aid we had it was very kind of him to help us but we still had the same problem after the reception had finished its a shame the is not some kind of link corridor from the wedding venue to the hotel thankfully it wasn't raining but overall was a lovely place

"Signs "
Metravel, 02 Octobre 2016

Nice surroundings, decent room. Okay for a relaxing stay. The pool was a slight let down. The changing area smelt like a dog grooming parlour and the water was a little cold. I felt that the number of signs telling guests what wasn't permitted went way over the top, anything that stood still had a notice on it. Pretty unfriendly.

"A return trip after some months"
Paul C, 02 Octobre 2016

The location with the settings are ideal for a central point when visiting Preston,Manchester, Leeds and other P.O.I in the North of the Country. The rates for the stay and the food which is tasty treat would be hard to find an Hotel of this size to equal.

"OK. Nothing special"
BJREisman, 27 Septembre 2016

Having driven up North from London, I arrived VERY late at the Hotel (0330). To start with, the sign from the main road is poor. Had I not gone into Google Maps "Street View" prior to arriving, I would have struggled to find the place. There was parking on site (although there were only a couple of spaces left). I went into the Hotel and, as I had been told, found reception empty. There was a phone on the counter with a sticker on it that said "Phone for Night Porter". I tried to phone…but there was no answer! After a short visit to the toilet, I came back and tried the phone again….and….someone arrived to deal with me. I was in my room within a couple of minutes. The room had a standard double bed, a good sized desk, a bathroom with bath, toilet, bidet and sink. Standard stuff….but the place was clean and functional. The extractor fan made an awful racket…so as soon as I had finished using the bathroom, I turned the light off quickly in order to stop the noise! There was a radiator in the room, but no air conditioning. I opened the window and it let some air in…but on a hot summer day, I would imagine that the room could get very hot and stuffy. There was NO noise from anywhere in the Hotel that I could hear. I got into ed and went to sleep. In the morning, I went to breakfast and found both buffet stuff (continental and also traditional English Breakfast fare). Checkout was quick and I left. I had originally planned to use the Fitness center and Swimming pool, but I arrived too late at night. Would I come again? Probably not!

"Great staff "
Sandra S, 22 Septembre 2016

Arrived after kitchen closed for the evening and staff made me a lovely steak baguette and soup. Much appreciated after a long day . Staff couldn't have been any more helpful. Room was nice and clean and bed comfortable. Good hotel .

"lovely grounds"
Jennifer L, 19 Septembre 2016

hotel was in a lovely setting , 2 pools in the leisure centre and 3 hot tubs, breakfast was very good. the room was a bit warm so had to sleep with window open and the delivery of laundry was noisy at 07.30 on a sunday morning but other than that it was a pleasant stay

"Reasonable room but poor restaurant"
Gregor H, 14 Septembre 2016

My stays here, now three times (four nights), have been booked by my company. My experience of the restaurant, not the hotel itself, will mean I will asked to be booked elsewhere. The rooms are passable but with minimal toiletries and no tea & coffee making facilities. There is an iron & board though! Beds reasonably comfortable if a bit on the firm side. The rooms are clean and the housekeeping is good. But my four experiences in the restaurant: dinners are poor to very poor. The hotel's location, as the name suggests, is out of town. The nearest shop is a half hour walk away and there are similarly no options to eat out, so it has to be the hotel's restaurant if you want dinner. Most recently, the rib-eye at £20 is far too expensive and mine was tough and chewy, with much of it ending back on the plate! The vegetables in the side dish were unappetising and barely edible. The one good part were the chips: excellent. Perhaps I was unlucky as my dining companion's sirloin seemed okay. Overhearing another diner on my second night, I don't believe my experience is unique. Second night: prawns. Skimpy dish for £6 with about half a dozen medium sized prawn. In truth it would have been just as good serving the chilli/garlic melted butter and mop it up with the half mini-baguette. Trying for a safer main I opted for a cheese burger. It was substantial and reasonably okay, but bun was falling apart half way through. Wouldn't have been so bad but waited 25-30 (conservatively) minutes after my prawns. Then it was served with a "sorry for the wait"… would have been good if one of the waitresses had acknowledged the slow service before it became the ridiculously long wait. Sadly my experience on the previous two nights were similarly disappointing. Given there isn't much else to look forward to on a night away it is doubly disappointing. Did I complain: first and second time yes, but it was met with a degree of indifference by the waiting staff who clearly don't understand the value of customer care! There's a certain Bon homie from the bar man, but overall the service lacks professionalism and is slow. The food ordering is a quaint system done at the bar, then you wait and get called to the restaurant where your order is almost at the table before you are! Wouldn't be so bad if the following course arrived in a reasonably timely manner. Spending around £25-30 including a glass of wine, you could get yourself a decent Indian/Chinese/Italian meal if there were any of these within walking distance, but sadly there aren't! Breakfast on the other hand is good, particularly the cooked options: the Full English being available including local Bury black pudding. Choice of drinks and toast are on the table efficiently and all was well cooked and hot. It would be better bringing your dinner in with you and set your sights on breakfast as the main meal of your stay.

"Did the job!"
Unknown2313, 02 Septembre 2016

We stayed here for a family wedding. We only had a single night and the room was good. I would stay here again for something simular. It is nothing special but clean and comfortable. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings which is great to have a quick wonder around.

"Family Wedding at Bank Holiday Weekend"
Mark D, 01 Septembre 2016

We spent two nights here for the August bank holiday. The hotel is very nice and there is a great lesiure centre next to it. Breakfast was very good, the only down side is that i thought the drink was expensive. Also country hotel does conjure up images of it been in the country, which its not. We attended a wedding there and it was wonderful, the staff, the food , everything.

"fantastic yet again"
loopytraveller, 29 Août 2016

Once again a fantastic stay at the bolholt. We attended our friends wedding yesterday 28 August. The reception was a warm one and very friendly .thankfully the weather was nice so we sat outside the bar soaking up the atmosphere of the grounds .The room was a bit small but ample for a nights stay .The wedding room in the evening was fabulous .We paid for breakfast and it was ample ,the only thing that I found and it's just and me thing I like mini doughnuts and muffins for breakfast but you can't have everything lol .Thanks Best Western for a great stay once again

"2 night stay"
Steve H, 29 Août 2016

The hotel is ok and we have stayed there several times over the years and enjoy the Stable spa and gym. The rooms have been updated over the years but our bathroom did require an update as it looked tired. The meals are ok but not as good as last year

"Family wedding"
maureenwwjd, 22 Août 2016

Having read some negative reviews of this hotel before our visit for a family wedding I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff could not have been more helpful very pleasant both on reception and serving at the wedding . The breakfast seemed to come in for some bad reviews but all I can say was they were wrong. The breakfast was great. Yes it was buffet style but there was a good range of fruit, Cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice and cooked bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, black pudding and scrambled egg. You could order poached or fried egg if you preferred these. We ordered poached egg each morning and they arrived at our table in time for us to enjoy the cooked breakfast. There was also toast with butter or jam etc. Tea or coffee were brought to your table and topped up whenever you asked. The wedding reception was very well organised and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and changed each day. The rooms aren't that big but adequate for what you need. You also have the option of using the leisure facilities which are very good especially the pool and Jacuzzis. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay the grounds are wonderful

"Fantastic as always"
Huw R, 20 Août 2016

Always a pleasure to come stay in the Bolholt. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, standards in the hotel are always extremely high. I've stayed a lot in the Bolholt over the past few months with Work, and I always get a warm welcome whenever I return. Rooms are a good size, but try and get a family room if you can for more space, as it certainly makes a difference. The grounds are definitely worth a look around the lakes if the weather is nice. Restaurant always at a high standard! I definitely recommend trying the specials, or if you're feeling particularly hungry, get the mixed grill. You won't be disappointed!

We stayed here the night of our wedding, our wedding day 6/8/16 went splendidly, without Becky, Mia & coordinator on the day Vicky the Stables wouldn't run properly, our bedroom was ok, clean & comfortable, the breakfast however was bloody awful, bacon under cooked, sausages (if you can call them that) were absolutely disgraceful, it's just as well we stayed under "friends & family discount" because we wouldn't like to pay full rate for the b & b rated service

"Stay at the Bolholt"
Elizabeth T, 10 Août 2016

The staff are really helpful and the room spotlessly clean. I felt the furniture was old fashioned and tired but the bed was comfortable. I didn't eat there but all in all a comfortable, quiet and clean room, which was all I needed.

"Great Wedding Venue, Let Down By The Breakfast!"
Jason G, 08 Août 2016

Our Nephew chose the Bolholt / Stables as the venue for his Wedding reception so as a consequence we booked a room at the hotel for the night. The wedding reception held in The Stables part of the facility was fantastic, the room was beautifully decorated and the scenery outside is stunning. The Service Staff were excellent and Vicky who was the wedding coordinator was brilliant, she is truly an asset to the business and I would highly recommend the venue and Vicky to anyone. The wedding meal was very good for a mass catered event and the whole day ran smoothly, it was a great wedding. A couple of small issues, drinks are on the expensive side, over £4 for a pint of lager and the bar staff were stretched at times so there was a fairly long wait to get a drink at times. With regards to the hotel stay, the hotel is really nice, set in lovely grounds and it's fair to say has a bit of character. We had no issues at check in everything was fine. The rooms are comfortable & clean, no frills but also don't feel like a budget hotel. The price for the night was £69 b & b which we thought was good value for money. The hotel would have got a much higher rating from me if the breakfast experience had been better. There were numerous issues at breakfast. The service was so slow, it was a buffet style and everything was luke warm, the bacon was savagely under cooked, the sausages were absolutely awful, I mean awful, there were 20 + in our party and no one liked the sausage at all, it left a horrific after taste. My Wife and Niece ordered poached eggs, they took ages to come, in fact they had both finished their breakfast by the time they arrived, when they started eating them they both immediately realised that the eggs were off, in fact my Niece was nearly sick at the table. My Wife complained to a young waiter, who made no apology, he never came back, so my Wife found him and asked if he had reported the issue, to which he replied "yeh", again no apology, no offer to replace the breakfast, no manager or supervisor came back to us, it was really disappointing. We did report the matter when checking out and they did offer to refund the breakfast which we declined, we weren't after a refund, we just wanted someone to show some concern. I have to say that it really tarnished our stay, I would not hesitate to recommend this as a place for your wedding reception, but would not stay here again personally as the breakfast is a big part of my experience when staying at a hotel and this is one of the worst standard and experiences of breakfast I have encountered. I would gladly pay £100 for the night at this hotel if the breakfast was of a decent standard, waiter service instead of buffet so it can be cooked how you like it and better quality of the ingredients! You guys need to up your game massively on this score! All the guys in my party agreed with this last point!

"Wouldn't stay hear again"
Jemma M, 07 Août 2016

We choose this location for its surroundings the lake especially but on arrival the lake was more like a pond! We checked in and was hoping to sit out side an have a few drink but was told we wasn't allowed as there was a wedding on so we went to our room that had a view of a roof and fire escape stairs plus the noise from the wedding party that was rite below our room. The room it's self was nice but the bed was the most uncomfortable bed iv ever slept in, the positive side to our stay was the pool facilities were brilliant & the staff were very friendly that made up for the rest of our stay but I wouldn't stay hear again

"Basic"
Tracy E, 05 Août 2016

Stayed at the bolholt on business for 4 nights, service was basic, bar a few lovely people behind the bar. Food was ok but very limited menu although 1 night me and my colleague had the same food and had a dodgy tummy the day after, can't really prove it was the food but bit of a coincidence! Breakfast said 6.30 but was never ready for 6.30 still putting menus out and stuff well after 6.30! On checked out tried to charge myself over 12 pound stating I had gone over my allowance when in actual fact I owed about 2.95 as they had not added the drinks n food together, good job I checked!! Nothing to shout about apart from the leisure club as pretty decent!!

"Nice location-mediocre service"
Joanne M, 04 Août 2016

Stayed 4 nights on a business trip, uneven flooring to be expected, narrow corridors. Rooms are nice and clean and the grounds are stunning. The service however is somewhat average, same menu and same "specials" board, drinks are expensive,no urgency in serving customers at the bar.Food that was ordered was not complete nor what was always stated on the menu, my colleague ordered a Greek salad with olives, no olives had to ask where they were. Both my colleague and I were overcharged at the end of the visit had to be rectified and this had to be pointed out.Not the worst nights stay but neither not one of the best.

"Family stay."
Loughallen, 04 Août 2016

Stayed here for a night with my family in a family suite which are good and spacious, at the rear of the hotel looking out on the courtyard and garden. It has a good leisure centre. Some areas of the hotel need updating but overall good value for money. Tip , go for room only rate as breakfast not great.

"Lovely location for a wedding; lovely overnight stay"
lisaxdx2072, 03 Août 2016

We stayed overnight for a wedding and the venue was fantastic. The location is stunning and made for some great background views when the photos were taken. The room was lovely; very spacious with excellent bathroom facilities. The steps up to the first floor were very steep and the couple of steps up to the room were also the same so extra care would need to be taken especially if there were children. The food was excellent; both for the wedding and for breakfast the following morning.

"Friendly and relaxed with very nice rooms"
chrismcgilvray, 01 Août 2016

I have stayed often and the rooms are comfortable and always spotlessly clean.Staff are very professional but at the same time welcoming and friendly, the menu is typical of this level of hotel with cooking standards never disappointing. The grounds are very nice and the leisure centre/pool is a very useful addition.

"Some Negatives, More Positives"
runsabove, 28 Juillet 2016

Well, what you aren't told is that kids can only use the pool between 12-3 (or 2-5, sorry can't remember) but a 3 hour window which we missed. The pool was one of the reasons we picked that hotel, but as stated, we got £20 and a round of drinks refunded - not huge, but the room was good value to start with. Maybe worth bearing this in mind if the pool is important to you. The drive to the hotel had us thinking we'd made a mistake, through an estate, factories, etc, but once at the hotel it is in its own grounds, lake etc. Very picturesque. We had an executive family room, 2 adults, 2 kids (12 yrs). Nice big room, clean, bathroom, all great. TV lots of channels. We paid for breakfasts, which were excellent, good value (by hotel prices) we thought and good quality. We went for an Indian locally which was great with advice from the staff, all of whom were vert friendly and attentive. We had a couple of problems, so as stated above we had a refund immediately and a round of drinks comped. they didn't have to do that, so it was welcomed and totally made up for the disappointment as it was dealt with straight away. Car parking more than ample. All in all, I'd recommend it for the price for sure.

"Set in beautiful grounds"
Joanne M, 26 Juillet 2016

We recently stayed overnight for a family wedding. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful, nothing was any problem. A very relaxed atmosphere. The wedding meal was gorgeous, beef melted! Everything went so smoothly on the day. Management should be very pleased with all the staff on the wedding day. Bar prices a little high though. The hotel is set in well maintained grounds, plenty of parking spaces. Rooms are a little tired, but all clean & a comfy bed. We didn't try the leisure facilities so can't comment. Would definitely stay here again ?. Overall, a beautiful hotel.

"Amazing stay, and great hotel staff"
huwrobs, 23 Juillet 2016

I stayed here for four days last week with work, and I can't praise the hotel high enough! The room I was checked into was big, airy, spotless, and the windows had been kept open to cool the room down (we were in the middle of a heatwave, so it was roasting!) The hotel staff were more than happy to help with anything I needed help with, and kudos to the bar manager, she was more than happy to give me some ice to take to my room for my drinks, which was greatly appreciated! The hotel is set in some beautiful grounds, with two lakes, and a fantastic gym only a few hundred yards from the hotel, honestly I couldn't have had a better experience! Definitely worth a stay if you're in Bury for business or leisure, you won't be disappointed!

"Great leisure facilities"
foonoo, 21 Juillet 2016

We were pleasantly surprised on arriving here. Only stayed for one night, didn't have an evening meal or breakfast. We used the leisure facilities which were fantastic. A huge swimming pool for lengths and a smaller pool. There was also sauna and steam, jacuzzi and plunge pool. On leaving the pool my friend realised she hadn't been provided with a towel. On approaching the staff they informed us that all the towels had gone and to get one from the room?? We were in our swimming costumes and the swimming pool is a couple of minute walk outside. It may have been a one off as it was late in the evening and locking up. We shared a towel and headed off to the bar for a few drinks. The rooms were ok, with a double and single in our room. They are probably in need of some updating. A pleasant experience overall. We would probably return.

"Little things spoil the bigger picture. "
ukFirebaby, 20 Juillet 2016

I like this place, honestly. I've stayed over 200 times. Really. But it's casualness, if you're someone staying long term and known to the staff can get in the way of new visitors. Please teach the kitchen staff how to cook calamari, and stop the appalling 'self service' breakfasts. Also teach your breakfast staff to provide the 'tea and toast' within a 20 minute window. Very shabby on the food service front.

"Wouldn't rush back"
Judith B, 16 Juillet 2016

Stayed here for one night. This hotel seems to cater for wedding parties and if you are lucky ,as we were ,to stay there when a wedding party arewell behaved I suppose your stay would be acceptable. Rooms are very tired although clean .On arriving here were shown to a room smelling of cigarette smoke which was strange considering all rooms are non smoking, luckily the hotel managed to change our room. Breakfast nothing special.

"Always a pleasant experience"
keithg941, 13 Juillet 2016

Have been staying at this hotel mon-friday for over a year now and have always found it a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and always willing to assist with any problems. The location is good and you can stretch your legs out with a walk around the grounds/ponds. Bar/restaurant is pleasant with a decent choice of drinks and food. Overall a good value for money hotel

"Perfect wedding"
Helen B, 10 Juillet 2016

Just had my wedding at the main part of the hotel, it was perfect, the grounds of the hotel are wonderful for photos and for children to play. The room looked amazing and the food was beautiful, had the hog roast for the evening and it was delicious. The staff Dan and steph were great on the run up to the wedding answering all questions and Ash was brillant on the day he made sure the day ran smoothly and was always around incase we needed him, nothing was to much trouble for him, booked the resident Dj and he was brill... Couldn't of asked for a better day one i will always remember x

"Nice hotel, great fitness suite"
Paucambra, 04 Juillet 2016

Quick check in nothing remarkable or unpleasant. Our room was average, clean, comfortable. We didn't have breakfast. There was a wedding on which did get a bit noisy with the wedding guests outside the bar but wasn't too bad. The best thing was the fitness suite. 2 pools one was huge the other was really warm, hot tub, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, plunge pool, gym area.

"Staff need to do something about the noise."
Rachel H, 04 Juillet 2016

A wedding party at the hotel kept us up until 3am. They were very drunk, making a complete racket, screaming, shouting, stomping upstairs and banging doors. We called the number for reception and the night manager to report this. We got 3 hours sleep in total, after they then woke u up at 6am. To say we were angry is an understatement. Staff told them to be quiet once, and after the party ignored this, they didn't bother anymore. Many other guests also aired their concerns to us, and many of us agreed it was very poor management by the staff. We had that day taken part in a charity run and so needed a full nights sleep, especially as two of us had health concerns mad worse by poor sleep. We at the very least expected to be able to sleep at the hotel we paid £90 a night for. The stairs and doors by the corridor of rooms 8+ were very creaky and even before the party, the almost constant slamming of the door and stomping up the stairs was disruptive. There should be signs or something telling people not to slam the door (or some kind of new soft-close door put in) and to tell them to be mindful of others, being quiet coming up those stairs. Would definitely not stay here again.

"Really good time I work here"
joshuahodgins123, 03 Juillet 2016

Oh yes really good I reckon the staff and me are decent amount of time for the customers to really good people and also love everything there to really great I love you all haha mint time I work with to

"Visiting family"
Lestunes61, 03 Juillet 2016

Have stayed here on numerous occassions n have had a family member hold a wedding reception here. Very nice greeting at reception. We had booked a double room and a family room, rooms 20. and 36. Room 20 is situated right by the toilets which wasnt a problem. The problem was the noise from guests who were obviously attending a wedding beinf held there. Running, screaming, shouting and swearing, banging doors on the corridor until at least 1.30 am. Surely someone on reception could have stopped the noise mostly from young teenage girls because they had to go passed recepion to reach the corridor. Notices could be put up to keep the noise down and to respect other guests or a member of staff could wander around to make sure no noise was being made. Room 36 had the same problem cos that was right by the door onto the gardens. Not much sleep was had by any of us. We didnt book breakfast cos was an extra 10 pound each. Would visit again but certainly not in the height of wedding season.

"Immaculate "
SarahNRaJ, 02 Juillet 2016

The room was beautiful and immaculate, staff were helpful and friendly, the grounds are stunning, just a shame about being near the stairs! We were in room 8 and the noise of people almost constantly banging up the stairs and slamming the doors was really disruptive. There should be a sign asking them to be quiet seeing as the stairs back straight on to a room. This was pretty stressful as we'd just completed a charity run and were trying to rest up but the banging meant we couldn't.

"Our wedding x"
Louise C, 28 Juin 2016

We got married on friday 17th june 2016 and had an amazing day from start to finish...we booked it with Mia and she kept in contact regular to see if i was ok or needed any help, which was nice...The week before we married we met Vicky who was also lovely and realy put me at ease with everything right down to the scatter crystals..i then went away and couldnt wait for our special day...our day arrived and it was amazing the room was decorated as i wanted it everything in its place, the waiting on staff were VERY professional and served the meal quickly and efficiently...everyone was so kind and professional and nothing was too much trouble. I would definatly recommend having your special day at the stables...we also went in a helicopter and vicky held my dress up all the way from the horseshoe suite round to the helipad and waited till we came back down and helped me out with my dress :)...after the reception we went and had a drink in the bar with friends that were staying and when we went up to our room the key card wouldnt work so had to go back to the bar and get the man to let us in :( the room was ok but nothing special to say it was the honeymoon suite it had a four poster bed that was it no champagne or any extra little bits to make it special and when lookin in thecother guests rooms ours was quite small..but apart from the room had a lovely day and night x

"Weekend Break"
philipcN8598DI, 27 Juin 2016

The Hotel is set i extensive grounds which are well maintained. The hotel staff are professional and are always at hand to meet your requirements. The quality of the food is excellent and well presented. An excellent hotel for a weekend breaK.

"Needs better management "
Carol52 C, 25 Juin 2016

We stayed here for the second time in two years as it is the only hotel in this area. The room we stayed in seemed to have had a refurb, much better than last year. We love the swimming pools, the smaller one great for nervous swimmers being only 4ft 6ins deep. Now the BAD: The Breakfast has NOT improved, No prepared fruits, the orange juice nasty, no yogurt. The cooked breakfast has no fried eggs and the sausages are horrible. The croissant basket was not replenished. The coffee served in a one person leaky steel pot for two people. No one in charge to ensure smooth running. We will return when in the area as we enjoy the location and the pool.

"Return visit"
fiftythousand, 15 Juin 2016

I have been here three or four times, which says a a good bit about this place, the best bits, for me is a very pleasant courtyard garden where you can enjoy some evening sun with a beer or coffee if the weather permits . The rooms are not luxurious but are perfectly adequate for most eventualities. The reception and Bar restaurant are comfortable and make for a pleasant overall stay, the food in the restaurant is of a good standard. All the staff are always friendly and not officious. I have tried to book another night but the Best Western Website wanted c£90, which is too much for B&B, so I have had to book elsewhere, I will return again as long as the rates are reasonable.

"Fantastic weekend stay"
p h, 14 Juin 2016

Cannot fault. This hotel. Everything. Was perfect. Wonderful. Friendly. Staff.. great. Room /breakfast Had lots of choice. Many thanks to the reception staff. And the restaurant. Staff. customer. Service. From all the staff. Was excellent. We would recommend this hotel

"Old and worn, with an not Best Western Service"
Ronald1382, 13 Juin 2016

I was here for a company visit, the hotel is old and worn. The receptionsist ( when present ) tried to be friendly, but the service was poor. The restaurant did not really open, I could order at (an empty )bar and eat on a bar.... The breakfast was not ready at 6:30 ( none of the days I stayed) No Airco, No Minibar.... No supermarket around.

"Friendly hotel with fantastic facilties. "
Joelle C, 11 Juin 2016

We like this hotel so much that we've visited twice in the last few weeks. We took advantage of the bed, breakfast and evening meal offer and stayed in a family room. Both rooms we stayed in were a fantastic size, with all the amenities you would need (iron/hairdryer/kettle/tv etc). The quality of the food and service is what makes this hotel stand out for us. Top notch evening meals and breakfast. Both visits we made use of the on site pool/sauna/steam room which was a great added bonus to our stay. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel for a little breakaway. We'll definitely be returning.

"night in Bury"
Alan H, 10 Juin 2016

Initially the hotel looked okay from the outside. Staff looked as though it was a chore to be there. room was clean but the bed (albeit four poster) was extremely uncomfortable. Breakfast was over priced

"seriously, don't bother!"
karen w, 04 Juin 2016

Unsure where to begin..... The room absolutely stunk of smoke and we were only given the opportunity to change it on our way out so we didn't bother. There was a water leak in the bathroom next to the toilet, which meant every trip to the loo was strategic to avoid wet feet. The alarm clock made weird electrical sounds throughout the night ( we didn't realise it was that until the morning). Wedding guests from another party that were there did laps of the hotel, swearing and shouting throughout the night. No reception staff to tell at night time. The food was like a school dinner and any attempt to get it rectified was met with certainty that it should be the way it was presented. I didn't realise that pork could reach that shade of grey, but we live and learn. To be fair the breakfast was nice but after the appalling night's sleep, it was by the by. In addition the reception staff offered to refund some of the room cost in light of the awful experience that was had.

"As you would expect"
TheGoodFoodBoy, 23 Mai 2016

This Best Western does everything it says on the tin. Its got a good location and well priced. Lovely grounds and an exceptionally good leisure facility. That said the actual hotel is a bit tired. However nice lakeside setting and helpful staff. Clean comfortable and a nice addition of a four poster bed. Decent bar and lounge area. Super breakfast

"A warm welcome"
Gengis100001, 23 Mai 2016

I've been staying at this hotel over the last 8 years and I will continue to do so. Very friendly staff, excellent leisure facilities and very pleasant grounds. They've been remodeling over the last year and it's made a nice hotel into a lovely hotel.

"A great hotel"
Itsme1985, 20 Mai 2016

We recently stayed at the Bolholt to attend a family wedding. The whole experience was excellent from the wedding to the accommodation. I would certainly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue with its excellent food, service and beautiful grounds for photos. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and a pleasure to stay in. The character of the hotel makes it much more homely and welcoming, ideal for functions and breaks away. All the staff were helpful and made our stay a pleasure. We will be back and would certainly recommend as a venue to our friends.

"Fantastic Stay!!!"
Lindsay265, 20 Mai 2016

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and once again it was fantastic. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food excellent and the staff extremely helpful. We would like to mention Michelle on breakfast service, friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Overall once again a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Bury area.

"Don't go here"
clivo21, 10 Mai 2016

Seriously run down, dark, dismal. Refurbished with low quality, drab furnishings. Needs to be pulled diwn and rebuilt. We booked for 6 nights, checked out after one. Wine was toxic. Reception staff (Zoe and Allannah) were exceptionally friendly and professional. Full marks to them both.

"A good place to stay"
SJBLB60, 06 Mai 2016

We stayed here because we were visiting family in North Manchester. As best westerns in the UK go, this was one of the best. The room was a good size and well appointed. Clean and comfortable. Although there were 2 weddings on that weekend the noise was minimal. Mainly from guests who thought it was ok to shout and slam doors at 3am. The bathroom was a good size and the shower worked well. A grab handle would have been useful. It is an old building so no lift. The pool was 200 yards away along a cobbled path and was not open early mornings at weekend. I went down at 6.30am on bank holiday because I was told it opened at 6am Monday to Friday. It was closed and nobody thought to mention it when I asked. It was a good size and clean. Towels were provided.

"Good"
Rbyrb, 24 Avril 2016

Quaint hotel, it's clean and tidy but in an old fashioned building , the leisure facilities were very good , 2 large pool , sauna and steam room two hot tubs and a very well equipped gym. Can't wait to be back.

"Wedding!"
Adele S, 07 Avril 2016

Our wedding day was even better than we could have ever imagined. The room was set out beautifully, everything was the way I had pictured it. The food was absolutely delicious! And being a big eater I was extremely pleased to have my dinner served first. Everyone commented on the food especially the chicken, beautiful. The DJ Ian was fab too! I'm very much into my cheesy pop especially the 90's, he honoured that completely and I barely sat down all night! The only thing that could have been improved was the communication before the wedding day, we often felt neglected. On one occasion a picture was shared on facebook from someone else who had booked their wedding at the Bolholt and they had been sent a bouquet of flowers... which we had not been. It was little things like this that made us feel neglected. As I say the day could not have gone any better! Our honeymoon suite was beautiful and very comfortable.

"Friends Wedding"
Stephen H, 07 Avril 2016

The hotel room was clean and tidy staff was great.the hotel had free wifi through out. The corridors are very narrow to the rooms.the price for breakfast I thought was expensive. The overall price for alcohol was very expensive.i booked the room through booking.com when I checked into the hotel they charged me more than what I thought which I thought was very wrong. I have now sorted the overcharge out so be carful when booking through a third party that the hotel don't over charge you.

"Great staff"
Sueanpaul, 31 Mars 2016

The location of the hotel is great in a fantastic setting, the room was quite basic but very clean, breakfast delivered to our room was lovely and tasty. We booked a table for our evening meal the staff were fantastic very attentive ,the lamb shoulder was perfection would stay again

""New Years Eve Gala""
wildthingwarrington, 30 Mars 2016

We booked with friends for the " NEW YEARS EVE GALA" and unfortunately we were very disappointed We had been to this function on previous New Years Eve's and had really enjoyed both the food and the entertainment. However this year there has been some changes to the arrangements and it is not for the better. ( the party and buffet are now separate from the Hotel and takes place in "The Stables" )The buffet which has usually been excellent was poor compared to previous years and the disco was awful, It was so loud it was unbearable and several people as well as ourselves left the party before midnight and went to the Hotel bar to see in the New Year. We will not be booking this again. The Hotel itself is in need of a bit of TLC but our room was warm and comfortable and as usual the breakfast was very good. It was definitely not value for money this year. We will visit the Hotel again but not "The Stables"

"Tired and dates "
Jeanette M, 25 Mars 2016

We stayed here for a friends wedding . Our room was very tired ,dated and on the small side . The corridors are very narrow to the rooms . The toilet once flushed took a very long time to re fill making a noise for hours . I tried to boil the kettle which took so long I gave up . The staff were all polite and helpful . Breakfast was a major disappointment , not up to a standard I would expect in a hotel . The coffee was in drinkable and to be honest we couldn't tell if it was actually coffee or tea . The hot food was kept warm and not refilled enough and the cold selection was tinned peaches and grapefruit . I wouldn't choose to stay here again it was purely convenience because of the wedding .

"Wifi good and Room comfortable but food awful and hotel dated"
tdunbar86, 22 Mars 2016

This hotel is just average in my opinion. It's quite dated inside but the rooms are comfortable and have everything I need. The wifi is pretty good for a hotel and quick enough to stream a movie. The restaurant is a massive let down though. I'm quite staggered by how poor the food is. It seems like it's cooked really well but there is no flavour to anything. I've had a couple of starters and a couple of mains over two days now and they all tasted bland. I'm not a food critic or anything and I rarely leave bad reviews because quite often I find you get what you pay for and if you have a cheap meal expect a cheap product but the prices are relatively high £15 ish for a main. I haven't used the spa or pool so can't comment on this but the hotel overall is average and I have gotten what I paid for except for the food.

"Great value stay"
cazzyben, 21 Mars 2016

stayed here to visit the steam Gala at east Lancashire railway, the hotel is in lovely ground large carpark, the staff were really helpful & friendly, we had a lovely room with a 4 poster bed which had recently been refurbished, we were on the groun floor has my hubby disabled and there are no lifts but no problem the staff sorted it for us no trouble, there is a Gym and stables restaurant just a short walk from the hotel they both look good but we did not use either as we were dining & breakfasting with friends. Also had good free wfi

"Had a very enjoyable stay!"
dapper80, 14 Mars 2016

Stayed here for two nights for my wedding in the bridal suite. I have to say, I had a great time, and the staff really couldn't do enough for me! The room was very comfortable and I enjoyed spending time with my family and friends in the lounge area of the bar. Not only this, but they offered a cheaper rate for my family and friends, even though we were not getting married at the hotel. They had a gym and pool, which could be used by guests too. I stayed in the old part of the hotel, which was very pretty. I have to say that I had looked around other parts of the hotel and many of the rooms look like a basic travelodge. I do feel these should be updated. However, considering the reduced rate, my family (and I) were all very pleased with the hotel.

"Excellent value, lovely room"
MarcusHurley, 09 Mars 2016

I stayed here for a night when working nearby. There is a huge carpark in a pleasant setting. My room (23) had lovely decor and was a good size. Wifi was ok and the bed was the most comfortable i have slept in for a while. Food here was very good - both breakfast and dinner were good quality, well presented and very good service. The on site gym is a couple of minutes walk away but has very good facilities and plenty of machines. All in all a very good stay, reception and breakfast staff were excellent and the stay was a real bargain.

"room 54"
Rebecca D, 07 Mars 2016

already working as a housekeeper in another hotel..I noticed several things straight away what would need to be seen to..checking of the rooms properly as I found pubic hairs around the toilet area and side of the bath..cobwebs in the corners of the room..the skirting boards were dusty and on top of the wardrobes. the bed was very comfortable apart from the wobbly head board.. the bath was huge..it was fab but it was covered in stains from being so old ,I even tried to clean it myself .. it's a nice hotel with Amazing grounds just the inside needs a looking at ..

"Excellent hotel, great price"
James M, 06 Mars 2016

I stayed here on Saturday and Sunday night in February with my wife and 4 month old baby. Perfect for visiting friends in Manchester. Travel cot was provided for free, the room was big and clean. Price wise £70 a night including breakfast was quite reasonable. Plenty of choice at breakfast.i The free use of the pool and spa was a real bonus and fantastic facilities. The restaurant was empty on the Saturday night, surprising as the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Will definitely stay here again.

"Needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to date"

Expensive for what it is. I chose this hotel over a Premier Inn and wish I hadn't - at least Premier have a customer pledge which they honour if you don't get a good night's sleep! My original room allocation changed for some reason and whilst I had a room tucked away to try and get a better sleep it didn't work. The guest next to me returned at near midnight, let his door slam, went to the toilet (heard it all!), put on his TV and later dropped something like an ironing board on the floor. Didn't get to sleep until 2am and was woken at 5.30am by a intermittent banging/rattling noise from outside which had started in the evening. Did alert reception but didn't investigate or get back to me. The hotel is VERY dated and in need of a lot of work. Old furniture, carpets in a terrible condition and smells of cigarette smoke coming in from people smoking outside fire exits. The evening meal was very nice - despite the odd way of getting a table - and the serving staff were great. I'd hope this would be a hotel option for the business which visits Bury regularly but no! Paying such a lot sets expectations - room prices need to be cheaper in order to offer better value for money.

"Wonderful stay "
Annette T, 25 Février 2016

Spent 4 nights here. Had some really nice food, steak, gammon, fish and chips were good value. The staff were very helpful. Anne, one of the bar staff gives the best customer service ever. She could not do enough. Myself and 4 other colleagues loved how warm and friendly she was.

"Warm & friendly hotel "
Ian S, 23 Février 2016

The rooms are adequate & spacious with a comfortable bed and very clean bathroom. The bar area is small but homely with real flame fires and Ann the server is outstanding going over and above to ensure your stay is pleasent. I can highly recommend this hotel and when back in Bury will stay here again.

"DISGUSTING"
Emm6949, 18 Février 2016

What can I say?? Absolutely disgusting level of service from staff, rude, couldn't be bothered, asking them for extra cups and biscuits in room was too much. Room was TINY!! The worst I have stayed in and was absolutely FREEZING. Maintenance man was called he couldn't fix the problem spent the night shivering as nothing else could be done and staff members were just terrible! There was no bath. Bathroom ended before it started!! Extremely disappointed!! Stairs narrow, dangerous and no lift!!! Leisure facilities were the only darn thing good about this place even the car park is in need of serious care. Breakfast ends at 9am! This place is in serious care of revamp, remanagement and reorganisation. Shouldn't exist in all honesty. BIG waste of my £79. The Burnley Best Western was a dream, this was a complete shamble. Shall be writing to head office and requesting my money back. My advice = stay away from this ghastly place.

"Pleasant stay."
Amy D, 17 Février 2016

Enjoyed a pleasant stay during February half term 2016. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Restaurant excellent - service and food (portions: LARGE and varied menu). Leisure facilities are NOT on the premises, but at a neighbouring hotel's leisure centre. Hotel setting - pleasant.

"Hotel one thing/wedding reception anothet"
jonnygains, 16 Février 2016

Let's get one thing sorted the wedding venue is a separate business to the hotel and staged a great wedding which I couldn't fault !!! The hotel is tired, cold and in need of major refurbishment , we had room 59, it had a four poster bed, with half the curtains missing!!!! The bathroom was jaded with dirty silicone sealing , but there was lots of hot water !!!! The artex ceiling and lights were at least 20 years old and ugly!!!! The bed was small and uncomfortable !!!! So the room was a real let down !!!! However the breakfast was good , well staffed, and very edible so a saving grace !!!! The hotel has nice grounds and could be a great place to stay but I feel if you weren't staying over for a wedding you wouldn't stay at all , a real pity really as the wedding experience is so good !!!! SORRY I REALY WANTED TO LIKE THE HOTEL AS MUCH AS I LIKED THE WEDDING !!!!

"Pefect Valentines Wedding Day"
Debbie140216, 16 Février 2016

We were married at the Bolholt Hotel on 14th February 2016 and we had the most perfect day. Dan, Asher and their team excelled in everything they did to make our day wonderful, from the planning to the Wedding to the actual day. The Ceremony room was stunning. I was teary as soon as i caught a glimpse of their hard work decorating the room as we wanted. Our Wedding Breakfast room was decorated beautifully with everything i wanted doing done to perfection. Our meal was gorgeous, thank you to the chef and his team and bacon butties and wedges went down a treat later in the evening. We truly had a memorable day and would recommend Dan and his team to plan your wedding. Thank you to everyone at the Bolholt for making our day truly special. Debbie and Jonathan x

"Great wedding"
marie m, 13 Février 2016

Stayed for a family wedding ,room okay breakfast dissapointing and a little disorganised but apart from that had a great time with family and friends x The bathroom was extremly small the toilet had been squeezed in not well thought out .

"The staff are the saviour to this hotel"
Lesley C, 12 Février 2016

This hotel is in real need of a good refurbishment as the decor is really dated. The stairs to the rooms are steep and narrow so if you have more than one piece of luggage you need to make more than one journey. That said, it is clean and has the greatest bar and restaurant staff, they were so friendly. Food was good. I had sea bass which was delicious. Car parking is limited. Arriving in the dark the signage is not the best as I ended up in the country club part.

"So helpful"
Susandyer, 03 Février 2016

We stayed here on 1st February for one night. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We were very impressed by the staff, especially Dan, who were friendly, polite and couldn't do enough to help. We had an evening meal and breakfast and both were excellent. We would definitely stay here when visiting relatives in the area again.

"great wedding day "
Nicola L, 14 Janvier 2016

we had our wedding here in December and had an amazing day. the staff from the start were friendly and happy to help including our wedding planner. the day was very well organised and the rooms both for the ceremony and meal looked lovely. Ash and the other staff on the day were great to us and our guests. the food was lovely and people commented on the lamb dinner and cheesecake. we would highly recommend the hotel to other people considering getting married there and we have great memories now from the day.

"Disappointing & Poor Value"
Mike150564, 13 Janvier 2016

The hotel's position is pleasant enough and most of the staff were doing their best, but I found the stay really disappointing. The greeting I received on arrival was OK but seemed mechanical. The room was again just OK, but not great. Little things like the TV remote were dirty and the coffee sachets in the room looked as though they'd been there for years. You just got the feeling that the little things were overlooked. Dinner was chosen from the a la carte menu and should have been better. The slow roast lamb that I chose, tasted more like fast microwaved lamb that had been cooked from frozen, along with the roast potatoes which had clearly seen better days. Pudding was the best part - I had Bakewell Tart served with custard which was piping hot. I guess that wasn't produced on the premises either but was at least tasty. The coffee however was a different story - how did they make it, what was it? It was genuinely the worst I've ever tasted. They offered me a replacement which was just a stronger version of whatever they serve. And it was the same at breakfast. Breakfast (which I noted on my bill was described as 'UPSELL breakfast' was very poor. The sausages were hard and overcooked, the bacon fatty and luke warm. By the way, the UPSELL breakfast cost an extra £10! For the price I paid, the food element represented poor value and the room itself was expensive when compared with others and noisy from 5am. Some care and attention needs to be injected into the Bolholt - an inspirational manager should be hired to sort out the issues.

"2 weddings"
jimbob025, 11 Janvier 2016

I have attended two family weddings at this hotel On the second occasion we stayed two nights and had the use of the pool The experience was fantastic the room we stayed in was nice The weddings were amazing You could not fault anything Recommended

"Enjoyable stay friendly staff"
David F, 10 Janvier 2016

Stayed for 1 night only but would come back any time, very friendly and helpful staff, enjoyed the stay. Didn't have time to try the leisure centre maybe next time, food and bar very good. Nice clean room, no problems at all.

"Enjoyed our stay"
Catandc0, 07 Janvier 2016

We stayed here over Christmas ,just B and B as we have family nearby. The room was fine ,lovely big bath and shower over, bed good size but could do with a mattress topper for bit extra comfort and room nice and warm,on ground floor overlooking the garden at the rear. Ideal for reduced mobility guests. Breakfast was really good, bacon and sausages good quality and asked for poached or fried eggs which were delivered very quickly. Suggestion: warm plates please, and serve toast to the table as the toasting machine is quite inefficient and food has gone cold by the time the toast has cooked! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely use this hotel again. Thanks to the staff who were all very pleasant and especially the friendly chambermaids.

"family break"
gilleslaurent, 03 Janvier 2016

it was our first visit and was very impressed by the quality of all the staff. We decided to eat in the restaurant.Well done to the chef who made my t-bone steak how i like it.Thank you to Asher (deputy manager) who was very friendly with us and very professional. Will definitely come back and visit the spa again.

"Good value, no complaints about our stay."
Josephine M, 03 Janvier 2016

It's not a 'destination' hotel, we stayed here because it was handy to visit family nearby. It was fine, no problems with anything, and good value. Our rooms were upstairs along a corridor and there was no noise from coming and goings. Extract fan in bathroom was very loud, so you couldn't help wake someone else in same room, and you could hear the fan from next door room. I'd stay here again.

"new years eve ,family party"
Ka K, 01 Janvier 2016

We attend the new years eve party last year 2014 ,and had agreat night with our daughter and 2granddaughters Ruby &Amber at £49.00 each adult and half price for the girls,we had a great time, this year we decided to go again, last night wasn't the success of last years party ,we arrived at 6.30pm ,and recieved our free glass of cava, and the girls had a free fruit punch in achampange flute which the girls loved ,no sooner had the dico started than the dj said the buffet was being served ? About 7.45 ,much earlier than last year,as we slipped up last year not joining the que at once (not a great deal of choice later on last year) so we all went and joined the que straight away even though we were not really ready for food so early we thought we would put it at the end of our table to eat later, one the buffet were cold cuts of Turkey, ham and a sapoached dressed salmon, cheese sandwiches Dinky pork pie halves salads and Cole slaw, plus bread roll and butter ,or pie and peas, i t did look quite nice although I felt there could be a problem with it not quite stretching to the volume of people, on reaching the salmon I was sad to see that others had struggled to take a portion when I noticed it was more like salmon sushi!! It was pretty raw so not a good thing to have or give to Ruby & Amber,we each ended the trip to the buffet with a small plate of OK buffet food!!!!coffee was not available at the time like last year ,as they forgot to turn the hot water urn on? Sweet/ cheesecake were handed our by waitresses ,they too were not as nice as last year ,a shame really as the girls really like all the desserts as kids do ! It was then time for the children's entertainer ,last year our girls got involved and had good fun ,this year it was the same man ,in the same clothes, with the SAME ACT ,well our girls are 7 &5 yrs old and were not impressed, so his spot didn't go down well, with several others sat near to our table,!!!! The DJ was not very good telling us the time all night ,and getting it wrong ,lol, the girls began to have fun as there Mummy and I joined them to dance, but his programme of music left a lot to be desired ,I to was a DJ In the past, and I don't think he'd had a lot of experience, just as the dancefloor filled up and an atmosphere was gained he would put on some survey type songs and the floor would empty ,at 11.30 pm DJ said it was 11.50pm until someone told him the correct time ,good job or we would be saying hello to 2016 earlier than everyone else, we did have an enjoyable evening because we were in great company with daughter ,son in law and our lovely grandaughters who made our night ,.but at £49.00 each plus taxis ,and drinks (@premium prices £8.50 ,I lager, and a g&t,)was a rather expensive night ,that I didn't feel was good value for M oney,I was informed last night that this year there are new owners at the bolholt ,so maybe that was the problem, but we were disappointed??????

"A great New Years Eve"
inchhighLiverpool, 01 Janvier 2016

Stayed overnight for the New Years Eve party. Great hotel and food. Plenty of room in the restaurant, which is unusual for a big event party. Staff very efficient and friendly. Great bedroom on great floor with good wheelchair access. Great value. Looks like new New Year is sorted.

"Boiholt - Bury"
Andy H, 24 Décembre 2015

It A great hotel, I have stayed here a few days a week for the last 8 week and its my new second home. The staff are so friendly and make you feel at ease. I can recommend it. The food is a good standard and reasonably priced, the rooms are spotless and you will enjoy a comfortable sleep. There are leisure facilities on site which are free to guest but as i finish work late i have not had chance to use these. The grounds are stunning a an outside area is also available to guests. I cannot fault this hotel at all. If you do goyou will not be disapointed.

"Ridiculously noisy during night"
Carrie L, 21 Décembre 2015

We booked 2 family rooms recently and I'm afraid we will not be returning. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice with a good choice for the price. The room was a bit cramped and dirty (dusty on high furnishings and the bathroom floor) but otherwise nice enough and one of the rooms had a nice view over the front of the hotel. The reason for never returning was the noise at night. I was in room 8 which had a staircase right next to it and the staff and guests were using it right through the night. We were awoken every hour to running up and down, banging of doors and staff chatting loudly as they did their chores. I could hear every word so was aware it was staff and this is what riled me the most. The stairs were ridiculously creaky and I couldn't even exaggerate how noisy it was. If you're after a good night sleep, don't bother. It's a shame as everything else was pleasant and had quite a nice quirkiness to it. I've stayed in plenty of old hotels but have never experienced anything like that.

"* excellent lovely place, great staff*"
Sami J, 20 Décembre 2015

We only stayed here for one night while we were shopping in Manchester & bury for the Xmas markets but it was brilliant the staff was very helpful and always made sure we was accommodated well. The bedroom/bathroom was to a high standard and the whole hotel was lovely and homely. Thank you we had a lovely time and thank you to the receptionist he was really kind and helpful :-) we also got full use of the swimming pool, sauna, etc and that was brilliant. Couldn't of asked for a better hotel! Would defiantly recommend this hotel and I will be booking in the future for longer this time. Thank you :-)

"Poor reflection of the Best Western brand."
John V, 16 Décembre 2015

The room was a standard double, equipped as you would expect with the exception of a TV remote control which took 3 trips to reception to resolve. Not a good start as it was fairly late when I booked in it was made worse when I tried to shower in a rush, in order not to miss the restaurant, only to find the water pressure very poor which prolonged the activity. I then found I was the only client eating what turned out to be an enjoyable meal, which was let down when the staff deserted their posts before inquiring if a sweet of coffee was required ! The disappointment continued at breakfast, where the buffet style offerings were only luke warm and there was no choice of how your egg was done. On this showing it is unlikely I will be returning for further punishment.

"Home from home"
J M, 16 Décembre 2015

Not the most elegant façade but don't let this put you off. the staff are lovely and the hotel very comfortable. Bed could have been a bit firmer. Ideal for Manchester only 20minutes by tram. WiFi worked just fine and breakfast was good.

"Excellent visit once again"
Lindsay265, 15 Décembre 2015

I recently stayed at the hotel whilst attending a wedding. Could not fault the room, food and service at all. The staff were welcoming and made the whole wedding day go fantastically. Breakfast was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel both for a wedding and for simply having night away.

"Friendly welcome"
kimbo66_11, 14 Décembre 2015

Stayed here for ten days recently and can truly recommend this hotel. The staff are very welcoming friendly and extremely helpful. It can get very busy but they staff all take time to help you and give you a pleasant experience of staying here. From reception to bar ,housekeeping, waitressing to gardener and chefs they all take it in their pride to make you feel at home. Special thanks to Dan, Ann, Sharon, Portia,Asher, Harriet without you guys and the rest of the staff you made our stay here stressfree and very comfortable. Well done all you are doing a fantastic job!

"Very Good Hotel and Stay"
Leytherlass, 11 Décembre 2015

Booked two rooms here for one night , as we was attending a wedding . Lovely hotel in very large grounds . . The beds were comfortable and nice clean bedding . Our double room .. was smallish , but adequate for one nights stay , the other room was a twin and was very large .. The staff couldn't do enough for us , any help or enquires we had were deal with straight away . The breakfast in the next morning was good , but could defiantly be improved on . There was only a few choices of cereal on offer , no fruit . It is a Buffett style serve your self , they did offer to cook our eggs fried or poached , if we didn't want the scrambled eggs . Was very nice to be served fresh tea and coffee , and refills if needed . All in all though , was a very pleasant stay , warm and friendly staff . The rooms clean . Will definatly return here .. One thing to note .. The kettle is in the cupboard under the TV .... We spent ages looking for it and had to ask reception were it was ...

"Nice hotel, great staff"
CarlisleWeeps, 08 Décembre 2015

Stayed for a couple of nights for work. Room was a good size, nicely decorated and clean - the bath was lovely! Ordered room service and the food was nice and delivered in a timely manner. The main plus point, and the reason I'm writing this review, was the lady that served me behind the bar. She was so lovely and helpful! I ordered a bottle of wine to take back to my room and she carried the wine/ice bucket back for me and then when my room card wouldn't work (any magnetic cards demagnetise in my possession - always happens!) she went back to reception and got it all sorted for me. I didn't get her name but she is blonde with glasses and is a real credit to the establishment!

"Rewritten review!"
Leedsaway67, 07 Décembre 2015

It appears that the management objected to the contents of my previous review, as I referred to the experience of colleagues. I attended a sales training course last week. The public areas of the hotel were very run down, The Stables conferencing suites had water dripping through the stained ceilings, with ice buckets catching the water. Smell of damp & the buffet lunch was bland & virtually cold (supposed to be a hot buffet). Avoid!

"Welcoming and homely "
Coletia, 02 Décembre 2015

Having stayed here with my mum I had a great few days. The staff were very welcoming and helpful especially Ann... The food served was comforting and of high standards. The rooms were cosy and comfortable with all essentials available. Would highly recommend.

"Training meeting!"
Leedsaway67, 01 Décembre 2015

Attended a training meeting in the Stables. The hotel looks seriously run down, stained carpets & leaks dripping from ceilings. Saw three ice buckets, collecting water from leaks in stained ceilings. Room was pleasant enough, but the hot buffet lunch was virtually cold & of poor quality. Colleagues who had stayed the night before, complained of poor service in hotel bar & restaurant & run down rooms. Really glad I chose to travel to the event on the day. Wifi was also terrible, which isn't great when on business.

"Nice hotel very poor breakfast "
piggy2014, 24 Novembre 2015

Tidy but could smell fresh paint in rooms which ain't a bad thing unless u suffer with a bad chest Breakfast very very poor cold food cold room not many staff present Pool gym sauna etc etc fantastic Would I stay again if around there yes just without the breakfast

"Lovely "
lanie2602, 22 Novembre 2015

Just got back from a lovely stay at this hotel. It's our second visit here. We stayed in room 22 which is on the corridor just off reception. It has just been refurbished and there was a smell of fresh paint. Room was lovely bed comfy and clean. Shower was a bit of a let down when you got it to right temperature it was not very powerful. Staff were amazing very friendly polite and efficient. Breakfast was buffet style and nice. Grounds were pleasant. Swimming pool and gym area were nice too. Will stay again when visiting family in Bury.

"Excellent service"
GusLiverpool, 17 Novembre 2015

We visited the hotel with no expectations. We have been pleasantly surprised, for a mid range hotel the service was exceptional. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Restaurant not five star cooking, but again the service was great. We will be back.

"Our Wedding"
Holidays635, 16 Novembre 2015

We hosted our wedding at the Bolholt in the Summerfield Suite in October. We first visited in December 2014 by chance and had a peek at the function room. We were not disappointed. The feature fireplace was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and we felt the hotel would work perfectly for a single venue wedding. We couldn't have asked for more support from the team from our first meeting and in the months leading up to our wedding - from tasting menus, to a party night and meetings we were throughly looked after and every pre-wedding worry and question was dealt with in fine detail. Dan was exceptionally patient and committed to making our day everything we envisaged. During the wedding weekend we stayed in room 40 which was quiet, modern, cosy and comfortable. My parents took the other bridal room (Room 5) which was perfect for getting ready and has come through beautifully on the photos. It should also be said how BEAUTIFUL the grounds of the hotel look in our photographs - particularly at this autumnal time of year. There was a lot to do the day before as we were dressing the venue ourselves. The hotel had kindly stored our decorations in the days before the wedding. When we arrived the day before, Harriet had done an amazing job of getting everything together so we could get get to work on the finishing touches. Anne and Ash took fabulous care of our family whilst Dan the general manager headed out on a supermarket dash for cake supplies after a transport mishap! It was a team effort - without the staff we would have had an extremely long night!! Our hard work was rewarded with what can only be described as a FEAST in the restaurant. Amazing! The day itself was ran by the team to military precision. We didn't worry about a single thing. It is a testament to the relationship the staff establish with their guests that all the team came in the the lounge to see me before the ceremony. Thank you to Dan for keeping everything so calm, Alana for taking the responsibility of arranging my dress and Ash for the last minute check that my other half had remembered the rings!! The food was exceptional - we tested the talents of the team with 70 dining guests including a range of allergies and dietary requirements. We had nothing but positive feedback after dinner! Every detail was attended to by the staff - they literally picked our vision from our imagination and created it on the day to perfection. Everyone was able to relax and thoroughly enjoy the day thanks to the calm demeanour and organisation of the staff whilst they worked furiously behind the scenes! We had gone with resident DJ Graham - admitted biased but we had a cracking party! Graham had spoken with us beforehand and did everything we asked! Many of our guests chose to stay at the hotel and were as equally well looked after as we have been with clean, comfortable rooms and a lovely breakfast the following morning. It should also be noted how excellent the reception team are. So personable and accommodating. So many of our guests stopped us to comment of the friendliness of the hotel staff. The day after the wedding they continued the treat us exceptionally laying on teas and coffee and serving up our wedding cake whilst we open presents. We stayed another night and were looked after by Alana in the bar whilst we opened our cards. Whilst there we met a couple who had just booked their wedding in the Summerfield Suite. Obviously we couldn't encourage them enough that they had made a perfect choice! We had lots of pre-wedding concerns over the last year and can honestly say we had nothing to worry about!! We have already popped back to the Bolholt to collect a few bits after our honeymoon and as ever were treated as old friends. We are looking forward to returning with the family for New Year and continuing to spend time at the hotel for years to come. Thank you to everyone at the Bolholt. xx

"Great hotel"
loubear84, 15 Novembre 2015

We stayed at the best western bolholt hotel from 6th to 8th of Nov for a friend's wedding with our children age 7 and 2 very easy check in rooms were very clean spacious and comfortable our kids had fun. Grounds are lovely as is the stables wedding venue... found staff very pleasant and welcoming.... thanks for a great stay xx

"Spot On!! "
Nod89, 10 Novembre 2015

Stayed here for 3 x nights recently. It wasn't my first stay at the bolholt, I have stayed several times before. I can honestly say it has got better and better over the last few years. The food served is excellent both in the bar and the restaurant. The breakfast has been better and better on each occasion I have stayed. Both the buffet style and the table service when the hotel is quieter are excellent. Food is hot and plentiful and the staff are very accommodating even when arriving with only 10 minutes left until the end of breakfast. The lounge is a very comfortable area to relax in and the drinks fairly priced by hotel standards. The staff are so down to earth and friendly you can't help but feel like their personal guests. The bedrooms are comfortable and cleaned to a high standard. They have a cosy feel in-keeping with the 'country park' hotel. Overall I was able to have a comfortable, quiet nights sleep and a hot shower. The grounds are a real asset and look stunning on the drive into the hotel. They also manage to pack in ample parking to accommodate guests even where functions are ongoing. The proximity to bury and transport links make this a great hotel to see around and about the local area safe in the knowledge you'll be well looked after

"Lovely Staff"
Jodie G, 10 Novembre 2015

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night due to attending a concert at MEN arena. Standard yet very nice room with everything you could need (room 30) Very clean, amazing powerful shower and the comfiest bed ever! Most of all every single member of staff I came into contact with was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for a great stay will definitely return if in the area!

"AMAZING!!!!!"
Geraldine M, 09 Novembre 2015

Recently visited the hotel for a friend's wedding. What a great hotel - a real hidden gem and brilliant value for money. Grounds were absolutely beautiful, food was gorgeous the best lamb I have ever had and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. However, the best asset this hotel has are undoubtedly their fantastic staff, nothing was too much trouble, they all went out of their way to accommodate any request we made. We loved it so much we are having a family trip to the famous bury market and we are looking forward to making a weekend of it and staying at the hotel again. Well Done the Bolholt Hotel.

"A little gem hidden in Bury..."
Phil gail l, 08 Novembre 2015

Last November while searching for wedding venues we came across the Bolholt by chance. We had just viewed the "The stables" which is another wedding venue in the same grounds. We had popped in for a coffee and just asked out of interest did they cater for ceremonies. We were shown the function room and it was perfect. The beautiful feature wall with stain glass windows was perfect and it has been recently tastefully decorated in a contemporary fashion. In order to sample the food we booked on a Christmas party theme night. It was delicious we were a party of 5 and all had different menu choices and we were not disappointed. The only downside was we were nearly to full to dance. The decision was made and deposits were paid. Several times in the run up to the wedding we would call in for coffee and have bar snacks which is an understatement they should be called bar "meals". Everything is beautifully present and freshly made. For the wedding we stayed for 2 nights the breakfasts are faultless. Self service with constantly replenished hot delicious food. A choice of eggs on request succulent sausages and the best bacon we've ever tasted. On the Friday wedding eve we booked a table in the restaurant. Again we all had different. My black pudding in breadcrumbs and herbs starter was very, very tasty. The plates were empty. On arrival of the main of which 2 had a vegetarian pasta, we had steak and kidney home made suet pudding, fantastic. 2 had gammon and 1 had fish. We had clearly tested the chefs talents. The food was piping hot and beautifully presented there was an abundance of freshly prepared vegetables and boy were we sorry we chose the delicious potatoes cooked in their skins with seasoning. So much food how could we do it justice. We did, compliments to the chef. THE WEDDING DAY A - Maz -ing. Dan you are the man (he'd gone to the late night supermarket the night before to get cake glue for the bride as we had a bit of a disaster with the cake) over and above Big thanks. The whole day was run with behind the scenes military precision the room was gorgeous. For over 70 day guests the meal was 3 courses of taste budding fantastic ness. Piping hot butter nut squash soup with warm freshly baked bread. A beautiful succulent lamb dinner with boulangere potatos fresh vegetables followed by hot sticky toffee pudding with vanilla custard. All the guest commented complimentary remarks and everyone's plates were emptied. We were blessed with good weather and the autumnal wedding pictures in the beautiful grounds will be brilliant if the previews are anything to go by. The function room backs on to a seated patio area with beautiful private gardens for guests to enjoy. On the Sunday we enjoyed the leisure facilities and the whole family enjoyed a well earned swim and saunas. On our return to the hotel they had placed all the wedding gifts and cards in the very comfortable lounge area and had laid on tea and coffee for us all so whilst eating wedding cake we sat for the full afternoon enjoying each others company. Big, Big thank you's to Dan the manager and Ash you did us all proud and we couldn't have asked for more. ALL of your staff are fantastic and so helpful nothing is to much trouble. We shall definitely be returning for many years to come. In fact we are, New years Eve for the champagne dinner dance and for another 2 nights stay.

"Amazing wedding weekend"
MagsQ1952, 07 Novembre 2015

Attended a wedding at the Bolholt in the Summerfield Suite at the end of October. The wedding meal was beautiful and the whole day ran perfectly. The staff were lovely, helpful and couldn't do enough for you. My room was comfortable and clean. A special thanks to Dan for looking after me the following morning after I had a tumble and bringing me breakfast and an ice pack. Also thank you Ash who looked after me throughout the wedding to make sure I was ok on my feet getting around. We couldn't have asked for better service.

"Rude bar staff"
Phil H, 02 Novembre 2015

Stayed here on the 30th Oct the lady on the bar was rude I ordered a tuna sandwich as they stop serving hot food at 9pm so if you have travelled for ages to get there and you turn up after 9pm wanting a hot meal your best bet is to phone a take away Room was clean and nice but like a sauna Sophie on the reception was really friendly polite and very professional so if bolholt managers read this please please look after this member of staff she is an asset to your hotel Best wishes to all readers and to Sophie from Phil x

"Not great"

Bit disappointed if I'm honest, room was very old fashioned, evening meal wasn't great, very dry, wasn't theonly one in our party to complain...but couldnt knock the breakfast, should have asked for that the night before!!

"Lovely Hotel- Stunning grounds"
MillieHxo, 02 Novembre 2015

We have just got back from 10 nights at the Bolholt- we had a lovely time. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms were roomy & always clean and tidy. The chambermaids were so bubbly and lovely. The pool & facilities were stunning! The pool was breathtaking- especially sitting in the hot tub overlooking the grounds. The hair and beauty studio had competitive pricing too. The restaurant was fabulous- the steak was to die for! We found the hotel manager very friendly and helpful. My father in law is disabled and we found the hotel very disabled friendly. The only issues we had were the prices of soft drinks in the bar- £3.20 for a coke was quite pricy. Also, there was a wedding on the Saturday evening and there was commotion until the early hours- management dealt with this exceptionally well & peace was restored automatically. We would definitely return to this hotel & we thank you for the lovely stay!!

"Wedding guests"
PJ T, 01 Novembre 2015

This is an ok hotel, hallways to the bedrooms are shabby and need decorating, rooms are ok but dated, bathroom was nice with a good shower. Staff were lovely, very friendly. Breakfast finishes at 9.30am on a Saturday which we missed as had attended a wedding the evening before. Lighting in the bar is too bright, needs to be more subdued. Grounds are lovely.

"Expensive!"
MrsBrown33, 01 Novembre 2015

We attended for a friend's wedding this week and whilst it is a nice place (which you wouldn't expect driving up the road!) It cost almost £9 for a j2o and a pint of carlsberg! The wedding buffet was very minimal and the quality wasn't great either!

"Average "
nbrown5, 31 Octobre 2015

Nice looking place quite hidden from the main road. Thing that lets it down for me is the food not great at all. To be honest, to say it's average is better than it deserves. The place itself is clean with friendly staff and has a nice garden with out side seating. Needs a little bit more to stand out and a better chef

"Bolholt stay October 2015"
Steve H, 30 Octobre 2015

The hotel is good value for money and food has improved since last year when we were here. The spa is excellent and puts on free zumba and aquasize classes during stay. DBB menu is a bit limited for choice but you can have things off other menu. This hotel is very handy for Manchester etc. Wehave stayed here at least 8 different times over last few years and it has got a lot better than it was

"Lovely hotel"

"Excellent food and attentive bar staff"
446sueo, 23 Octobre 2015

Very good hotel with excellent food. Bar staff very attentive and I was impressed that she remembered my name from one evening to the next given the number of people to pass through. As a lone female visitor I was made to feel comfortable in the bar and restaurant areas. Could have done with more than one person on reception during peak check out time.

"Not the best"
Everton16, 14 Octobre 2015

Our room was very clean but that's it. It was a 70's legacy of miserable pine furniture and brown carpet and curtains. The breakfast was possibly the worst I've ever had in a hotel and the service was just as bad with rude, unhelpful staff

"Mediocre bed but great staff"
Jennie L, 13 Octobre 2015

The staff: The receptionists when I arrived were pleasant but the guy on in the evening was great, very friendly and helpful, recommended a great restaurant locally, staff in bar area were also very nice and welcoming. The guy in the evening was also nice but couldn't pour a pint to save his life something the hotel should look into when they realise their yield on beer is severely lacking. The room: well presented but freezing and the radiator wouldn't stay on. Bed very creaky and uncomfortable, can feel all the springs in the mattress. Can not get comfortable. Pillows very hard. Good shower. Nice facilities. Thin walls, could hear people talking and doors closing nearby. Food: had the panko breadcrumb brie and grape salad and some chips... amazing!! Earlier in the day my colleague got a ham sarnie and it was incredible. Hand carved ham with an apple and cinnamon chutney thing served with salad, crisps and slaw. Very delicious and reasonably priced. Coffee was okay. Very strong but that's how I like it but the milk and cups were cold so had to drink it very fast as it got too cold too fast. Haven't had breakfast yet as I'm writing this because I can't sleep but it's being delivered to my room for £3 surcharge, not bad at all. We shall see but I have high hopes after that yummy food. Overall not blown away but not too bad.

"Lots of little problems"
Maxopaxo, 29 Septembre 2015

We arrived at the hotel at 16.00 approx. The approach to the hotel and its setting are beautiful and first impressions made us very optimistic about our stay. The young lady on reception was polite and very helpful. However, matters went rapidly downhill as we made our way to our room. In the hallway there was a pile of used towels on a table. As we climbed the stairs to the next corridor, I noted that the carpet was frayed and a potential hazard. At the top of the stairs we passed through a fire door to be greeted by a mess on the floor, blocking our way. There was a large cardboard box containing rubbish and a number of items of crockery left on the floor. My husband had to move the box so we could pass down the narrow corridor to our room. As I took a photo of this mess, a cleaner saw me and literally whined, "Aww, I haven't had time to move it yet". BUT THEN DID NOT MOVE IT! When we finally got into our room, it looked lovely and clean and was very spacious but we noticed that there was no hospitality tray. We actually found it much later in the evening, inexplicably placed inside a cupboard. We attended an event in Bury and returned to the hotel after midnight. Even though there had been a wedding that evening the hotel was quiet and calm. This all changed at 4am, when I was woken by people shouting and laughing outside in the hotel gardens. This continued for over 20 minutes with no-one from the hotel asking them to be quiet. What concerns me most is that it may actually have been hotel staff making the noise. It took me a long time to get back to sleep, only to be woken again at 7.30am by the couple in the next room shouting at one another. Their shouting happened yet again at around 9.30am along with doors slamming and loud footsteps along the corridor beside our room. My husband and I were exhausted by our disturbed night and decided to refresh ourselves with a shower. Midway through his shower, my husband shouted that the water had stopped running. I tested the sink taps and the water was running ok but no water came through the shower head for over three minutes, whilst my husband stood and shivered, covered in soap. We left the hotel at 11am and hoped that no-one asked us if we had had a pleasant stay because we would have given them a very sharp and honest answer. The management of this hotel need to look at issues of health and safety, cleaning regimes and take into consideration that the enjoyment of one guest may be to the detriment of other guests. ps At no point during our stay were we told about the free use of the pool or the steam/sauna rooms.

"Nice Gardens"
Russ W, 28 Septembre 2015

So I tipped up after a long drive and hoped for smiley faces and welcoming cheer. Apart from the receptionist who did what she had to in general the staff were ok. Had a laugh in the bar watching the rugby and tried to get an early one. With weddings on etc it was a bit noisy but that was ok.. The bed was alright, the room a bit warm even with the windows open (hence hearing some noise). I noticed some paint chippings, the carpet had seen better days, the shower gel thingy in the bathroom didn't really dispense gel, the water pressure was useless but hot enough. Oh and the bath creaked weirdly?! (Room 46). All that was bearable. Being ignored at breakfast really annoyed me. We were told that breakfast was full so "Take a seat in the bar area" which we did. About 15 mins later we complained after loads of people left and 2 other couples (behind us) were let straight in. It was then 10 mins to finish time. Tables were dirty, no plates initially, no bacon initially, only a few scoops of beans left. There were some ladies in after us who fared much the same. So, all in all and having 24 hrs to think about it.. It was just ok. Probably not worth 3 stars but a strong 2. "Could try harder - but not an 'F' - yet"

"Great place to stay!"
Peter W, 28 Septembre 2015

We stopped here for one night for a visit to my family as many times in the past. The rooms are confortable, and well appointed. The breakfast is very good, and the staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the region for either business or leisure.

"Very tired"
jackplug, 27 Septembre 2015

Stayed her for one night to spa for a hen night and a murder mystery night, firstly we was classy hens, no tack. We arrived early and our rooms wasn't ready which is fair enough and they did give 14 of us a room to put our bags, must say the receptionist could of been more friendly and welcoming,we made our way to the spa and to be fair there was a lot of us and it was confusing, the spa is basic and ok but tired, after that we went to the main bar for food and because there was two weddings we could only have sandwiches, which was ok,the murder night was very good entertainment and fun, the food was not so good but not terrible however the chocolates with the tea and coffee where old and fusty,we had a good night but the room is yet again so old and dated and tired, our rooms where clean and fine, in general this place just needs updating badly.

"Disappointing"
Christopher K, 27 Septembre 2015

Musty room which had recently been re painted after leak; below par breakfast particularly on continental side; new staff training issue ; good reception staff who understood the issues I had; poor bed.
