    « Comfortable and convenient »

I stayed at Bard's Inn because Groupon offered a great rate. Since I usually stay less than 24 hours in Ashland on trips, I tend to stay further out of town to save money, so being in a centrally located hotel was a real treat. The man who checked me in was very friendly and welcoming. Parking was scarce, as other reviewers have noted, but I was able to find a spot in the hotel parking lot. The hotel has four buildings, and my room was in the older, original hotel. My room was on the second floor (no elevator) which is a little rough when you have heavy suitcases and it's pouring down rain, but not insurmountable. Plus there was a great view of the hills around Ashland from the covered balcony. The room was not enormous, but had plenty of space for me and my stuff. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. There was a Keurig coffeemaker (I personally prefer ordinary coffeemakers because I bring my own coffee, other people prefer Keurigs) The digital thermostat on the wall meant I could adjust the heat and cooling easily. The AC/heat unit in my room was a bit noisy, though. Breakfast was way above average for a weekday, even by Best Western standards. There was a large selection of food, including sausage gravy and a scramble with veggies, bacon and cheese. No exercise room that I could find (the outdoor pool was closed for the season) but a walk around Ashland was a great (if slightly damp) workout. Checkout went smoothly and Wendy at the front desk was very pleasant.

« Value Motel with Multiple Buildings »

My family and I stayed here in November 2016 and found the town of Ashland very beautiful and quaint. I booked online and did not realize that this is a motel with multiple buildings, one of which is across a busy street with uncovered parking. We were in the building across the street from the lobby and breakfast. There is a traffic light and crosswalk so it is not too inconvenient to get to the breakfast, which was a typical hotel hot breakfast - breads and muffins, fruit, oatmeal, eggs and bacon, cold cereal and yogurt. Our room was small but clean (although the lamp was quite dusty) and the staff was pleasant. The heater takes a while to heat up the room but it is quite sufficient. Ashland is a small town and the majority of places to stay are motels or B&B's. Overall we were satisfied with the room.

    « Bards Inn Stay »

This was a very clean, nice room. All the amenities were in working order. Brittany at check in was very courteous and professional. For needing to stay downtown, I would recommend this hotel. Very close to everything downtown.

    « Traveling »

I'm not sure if I had a unusual stay or what happened. But I can't figure out how they have good scores. To start I'm moving from Portland to Texas. I had my car full of valuable items and had to unload lots of stuff.. Well I had to park out on the street a extremely long ways from my room. The night clerk didn't seem to care he just told me it's Ashland" your stuff will be fine. I still had no idea what that meant, I slept very little worried about my car and belongings. Also I froze to death all night because my heater was broke. Another really frustrating thing was they have the rooms on the other side of the busy road.. So after freezing all night and worrying about my car I got up to try and warm up in the shower.. hmm awesome the hot water got hot then cold, hot again then cold. That was terrible!! At that point I didn't even go have breakfast because the traffic was so bad I didn't feel like getting ran over. The only thing I can say that I enjoyed was the room was very clean. This BW also has several things that need updated. It does not met BW requirements. The owner needs to fix the items I'm assuming would be on the PIP.

    « Great stay! »

Ashland is one of my favorite places in the world. I decided to book this hotel instead of our traditional choice because we were traveling with kids and the place we usually stay doesn't have a pool. The room was small but very clean with cozy beds. It was within easy walking distance to the shows, restaurants and all the town attractions. I do not prefer to stay in motels and from the photos, did not realize I was booking a motel room. Next time I will book one of the other buildings (there are 3 or 4 of them that belong to this hotel). That being said, the owners of this hotel have done everything they can to make this place the cleanest and most comfortable it can be. Although the hotel was fully booked, we did not hear any other guests the three days we were there. Check-in was easy, service was wonderful, A/C kept the room cool, shower was hot, pool was fun, and breakfast was free. This was a great experience for our family!

« Quick Weekend Autumn Visit »

We booked and stayed in an extra-large King. We stayed in the building across the street from Thr office. Covered parking, which was wel-lit with ample space, was an extra perk. The room was great. It even had a little balcony. It was nicely appointed and had a K-cup coffeemaker. The bed was very comfortable. We're definitely going to book this category for our next stay

« OUR BEDS WERE THE BEST »

We had reservation someplace else and wanted to be close to town. So we moved over to the Bards inn. We are so glad we did. The room was so nice and the beds were over the top good. The free breakfast was good and we were so pleased.

    4
« Close to the action »

Sections of this hotel are older however the guest rooms are updated and the overall properly is well maintained. The location of this hotel is perfect for downtown and park access. Just park the car at the hotel and many activities and dining are blocks away.

    5
    « Excellent stay »

We were very warmly welcomed by the staff at Bard's Inn and were also given an upgraded room, thanking us for being members of their rewards program. They were also very helpful in providing a map and suggestions for dinner. The inn is well located near the theater, park and restaurant area. We would definitely stay there again.

    4
    « Great location »

So convenient with walking distance to downtown Ashland, OR and the theater. Clean comfortable rooms, furnishings and great bed. Would have appreciated coffee in the lobby and a working coffee maker in room. Otherwise enjoyed our stay.

    « A Great Value »

Rooms have wonderful sheets and white down comforters. Breakfast buffet is very very good - all freshly made right there eggs, bacon, sausage, quiche, breakfast casserole. Plus a full assortment of other things - yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, bread for toasting, and pancakes.

    5
« Again- the complete experience »

The perfect location and the nicest people you will find. I never look anywhere else when staying in this area... there are plenty of places more expensive and fancier... but you will never find a better, more friendly place to stay.

    4
« Nice hotel, great location »

Clean, quiet, and right in town. It was an easy walk to the downtown sights. Parking seemed limited and there were some issues with finding a space. The breakfast was varied and good, and did I mention the location, it was perfect.

    4
« Pleasant and convenient place to stay for the Shakespeare Festival »

This was our first time staying at this inn. The staff was very friendly and checked us in quickly. The rooms were clean and well appointed and quite comfortable. This is not the fanciest place, but it is very convenient to the festival. We plan on staying here again next year. They have four separate areas to choose from. Summer are nicer than others so do you look on their website for the info.

    5
    « The beautiful Bard's Inn »

The Bard's Inn is well run, friendly, competent, clean, serving excellent breakfasts. It is always a happy visit when I stay there, which has been for about 15 years. It makes a trip to Ashland very special, indeed.

    5
    « Great location »

The Bard's Inn has a great location when attending Oregon Shakespeare Festival performances. Service and breakfast is outstanding. The rooms are comfortable, quiet and there are spacious common areas where you can meet with friends or work.

    5
    « Bard's Inn »

The Bard's Inn is a very comfortable hotel located within walking distance of the theaters and great food in Ashland. For the money it is an excellent choice when attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

    5
    « Ashland visit »

Visiting Oregon is about enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful trees. Our room at the Bard's Inn was In the perfect setting nestled among the trees. We asked for a balcony to soak in the environment. The hotel and the town of Ashland were wonderful. We plan on going back to Bard's Inn next year.

    4
« Top choice for Oregon Shakespeare Festival »

The Bard's Inn is my preferred Ashland hotel for attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It is only a short walk from the festival, restaurants and Lithia Park. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and good value. Good location for families.

    4
    « Very convenient location »

Only 10 min. walk to OSF and most restaurants/shops. Rooms are quite small. Pool/Spa is out front in full viability to traffic and pedestrians. Otherwise no place to sit outside and no food or drink allowed in pool area.

    « Excellent experience at Bard's Inn »

We have recently returned from Ashland Oregon where we met with friends and attended plays at the Oregon Shakespeare festival. We stayed at the Bard's Inn, and were very pleased with all aspects of our stay. It was convenient to OSF, quiet, well managed, and had wonderful amenities. We highly recommend it.

    5
    « Perfect pampered stay »

We loved walking into this room - the decor was simple but elegant, and the bathroom had a very interesting layout, with the whirlpool and shower next to each other but nicely placed. The gentleman behind the front desk fulfilled our request for a "quite room with a balcony", and gave us the best deal ever! We had a quiet end room on the 3rd floor, with a balcony overlooking the town square just down the street. True, cars were whizzing by below, but if we closed the heavy sliding glass door we were in complete silence! We did enjoy this balcony which was provided with chairs. This room cost a tad more due to the whirlpool in the bathroom, but it was a sweet time, with a decent breakfast included in the morning (all the usual suspects, sausages (good) egg quiche squares, hard boiled eggs and yogurts in the fridge, pancakes, individual cereal boxes (my sweetie's favorite) and bananas. It was all great, and actually gave me a European feel. We look forward to going back soon!

« Comfortable, Convenient and Friendly »

We love staying at the BW Bard's Inn when attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The rooms are very nice. The breakfast is great. We often watch deer in nearby yards while eating. The staff is helpful. We are just one block from the theaters, restaurants and shopping that make Ashland such a great vacation, and we don't have to worry about parking.

    5
« Just stay here and keep it simple »

We wanted to stay in town so we could walk this delightful town. We called and were lucky to get one of the last rooms. The room was 5 star. I know it is I travel a lot. We were very pleased with our room and the location to this creative town.

    5
    « So convenient »

If you want to be in the heart of Ashland, consider this hotel a plus. This location enables you to leave your car and just walk to dinner and the theater. On a nice day, it's nice to have the pool there as well.

    5
« Wonderful to walk to the theatre »

Maid found blue jeans which we had left. The front desk called us and shipped them back to us. Great service. Disappointed that the water temperature varied significantly in the shower. Pay more and get a room in one of the newer buildings?well worth the cost. We had an elevator that was much appreciated. All amenities you expect at a Best Western.

    5
« Comfortable and Close to Town »

If you plan to stay at a comfortable hotel that is close to the main part of Ashland, Oregon, and if you are going to enjoy any of the OSF plays, this is the BEST place to stay. It is a few minutes walk to all the "action" in town, and it's very accommodating. The price is right, too. This is our first choice of Ashland hotels.

    4
« Great Hotel in the heart of Downtown »

I was in town on business and stayed at this hotel which was conveniently located with in walking distance of all the restaurants and shops of downtown Ashland. Due to airline delays I checked in very late and the hotel couldn't have been more accomodating including making sure they got me some cold bottled water. The room was comfortable. As others have mentioned the parking can be a challenge at peak times of the day but the staff is great at making sure you find a place for your car. I would stay at again if I were in town.

    5
    « Hidden Gem »

This was a great Best Western with a great location in a hidden gem of a town. The hotel was walking distance to great restaurants, bars, movies and the theater. The service was excellent and overall I loved my experience in Ashland due partially to my Best Western stay.

    5
« Nice spot in Ashland »

pick an upgrade room and it is an ideal location for plays in Ashland. Very easy walk to theaters and restaurants and rooms are excellent...clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was very good with wide selection. Ashland is a city you want to walk around and enjoy, the location of this property is ideal for that purpose.

  • 5
    « It's all about location »

My husband and I stay here every year for the Shakespeare Festival. It's nothing fancy, but it's comfortable and located within walking distance to everything cool in Ashland. There's a fairly decent continental breakfast included as well. Parking is limited so street parking might be the only option. We've never had a problem being parked on the street and we've never had to park too far away. Keep an eye out for deer, they seem to be everywhere!!

    4
« Close to Everything in Downtown Ashland »

I stayed here with my husband and 10 year old son. We loved the location...only a block from all the restaurants and shops. The staff was helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. Our air conditioner was very loud and I had to turn it off sometimes because it woke me up. If we had stayed longer than one evening I would have had to ask that it be fixed. This is an affordable hotel for Ashland and we would stay here again.

    4
« Best pet-friendly option within walking distance of theatres »

We always stay here because it is pet-friendly and close to OSF. Clean, comfortable and hospitable. The breakfast exceeds expectations. Our only complaint is that the room we we are assigned to because of the dog is across from the housekeeping room, and 3 or 4 large housekeeping carts sometimes end up in the hall just outside the room all day. Housekeeping staff need more space elsewhere to store stuff.

    4
    « Service and Convenience! »

Comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient breakfast with good variety of foods. Pool for afternoon dip in 100 degree weather. Easy walk to Oregon Shakespeare Festival, shops, restaurants and park.

« Upscale motel soothes the nerves »

My buddy and I had motorcycled from Eureka that day, via Crescent City and Hwy 199. Bard's Inn was a welcome respite from the road. Backstory: A few days previous to our stay, we figured we did not need the two rooms we'd reserved (thru AARP Travel Center). Failing to pay close enough attention to fine print. I inadvertently cancelled my reservation inside the 72 HOUR (not 24 hour) reservation window. Bard's Inn dinged me for cost of one room but graciously held open other rez. Turned out we needed that room after all ? ! ? due to unexpected change in plans while on the road. So, much appreciated. Room was about $140 which is on the high end of budget but facility, rooms and generous free breakfast make it worth it. And it's a high demand destination, being a block from the famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival. I'd stay here again, for sure.

    4
    « Bards Inn »

Very nice stay. Have stayed here before, and will do so again. Nice and clean rooms, good service, and only a couple blocks to the theatres. Nice pool, but the hot tub is in need of an upgrade. Good breakfast. Check it out.

    4
    « location is great »

Went to Ashland for a friend's wedding in May. Weather was great and the location of this Best Western is fantastic! Was very easily able to not use my car for the few days that we were there. Downtown is so convenient with coffee, restaurants, shops & of course the theaters for the wonderful plays. A very walkable town. I would come back to this Best Western in a heartbeat. The room was clean & comfortable and the breakfast was more than adequate.

    3
« Good location but limited parking »

Came to Ashland to attend the Shakespeare Festival. This hotel is a short walk to the venue, which is good because Ashland is VERY limited on parking anywhere. The hotel's location is so close that the area surrounding the lot was full of the Festival's patrons. So, if you move your car from the hotel's parking lot in the evening, good luck getting it back. Although there is no assigned parking, you are required to place on your dashboard the parking pass indicating that you are a guest at the hotel. Hotel staff was very friendly, pool looked inviting and rooms appeared updated but a tad small. We liked that they are pet friendly, but feel they missed the boat when they charge a pet fee but no "welcome fido" basket like other pet friendly hotels. Breakfast is more than your standard donut and coffee, but the waffle maker was broken and there was limited scrambled eggs available. The breakfast room seemed busy, so perhaps we came at the worst time. In the end, we would stay here again because of the location and the walkability to everything and the staff seemed very nice.

    3
« Property is ok. Ashland isn't worth a visir »

There is nothing charming or notable about the property but my room in the building across the street from the office was OK for a motel The only reason to stay here would be its convenience to the Shakespeare festival. However, since that is complete rubbish, rethink your trip

    5
    « Fantastic! »

I really enjoyed my stay here and wish I could've stayed longer. Pros: Spacious rooms Clean w/large queen beds that are VERY comfortable Friendly, helpful staff Location (easy walk to Lithia Park) Complimentary local paper/hot breakfast/pancake maker Warm Pool/hot tub Cons; Didn't see the pool towels Parking seems a bit limited if you check in late, although the staff will guide you to find the ideal spot.

    « Another great visit »

We have been coming to Ashland for about 15 years. After trying several hotels and B&Bs in the area we have settled on the Bard's Inn for the last 9 or 10 years. Consistently helpful, decent breakfast, clean rooms they are constantly updating and an easy walk to everything in town, all make it a pleasant stay. On our departure day we generally leve very early, around 4:oo am, the office is staffed and the overnight staff is alert and friendly.

    4
« Parked our car for the visit and walked everywhere »

The Bard's Inn is the perfect location for attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It's a 6 minute walk to the theaters and near many restaurants and bars. We parked our car (free parking) when we arrived and didn't move it until we left Ashland. Our room in the newer section of the motel was spacious and comfortable for 2 friends. The balcony was a nice feature and it was good to have a small refrigerator and coffee/tea maker in the room. The breakfast buffet was head and shoulders above the usual motel "free breakfast." The potato-egg frittata was really good and being freshly made all morning. I don't know how the cooks found the sweetest and most delicious oranges to serve each day. After breakfast, I didn't need a meal until a light dinner. I will definitely stay there again.

    4
« Close to everything Shakespeare!?? »

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel? We came for a Shakespeare play and time just to spend with a couple of our friends. The beds are very firm, the breakfast is average, and there is lots of traffic on the front side of the building where the pool is. However the pool water is cool & clean, the rooms were very clean, and we were very satisfied with what we received for the price we paid.

    5
    « The perfect spot »

First, the location could not be better. A short walk to the theaters and downtown area. The rooms and clean and the beds are superior to most any pace I have stayed. We had a 2 bedroom queen room. The bath had a large two sink vanity and divided the two rooms. The breafast was well stocked. And, of course the staff was very accomodating to any needs.

    3
« THE TOILET FROM A KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM »

This cluster of buildings has a great location for on-foot exploration of Main Street shops and walk to Shakespeare. Our reservation was made directly because of timing and short supply.$210/night for deluxe dbl queen. The beds were comfortable, the towels were nice, the breakfast was above average, the staff aimed to please. Unhappiness came about with the LOW toilet, the poor task lighting at wash basin; the slippery bathtub; poor water pressure; difficult faucet handles; no night-light; goofy electrical @ sink----not good for seniors or baby-boomers.

    5
« Great Inn in Ashland, Oregon »

After extremely unpleasant accommodations in other Ashland hotels, The Bard's Inn is refreshingly awesome. Room is exceptionally clean, and the rooms we've stayed in have a bar by the shower for ease getting into the tub, It's quiet, walkable distance from restaurants, park and Shakespeare plays, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is adequate with several choices and fresh fruit. Parking is free.

    4
« Walk to the Theater »

The Bard's Inn is conveniently located within walking distance of the core area and the theater. The Inn includes at least 5 buildings, and depending on which one you are in you may have to cross a main street to get from your room to the breakfast room. The Inn is clean, and the staff is friendly. Breakfasts are better than average for an included meal.

    5
    « Outstanding Location »

The Bards Inn offers clean rooms, a friendly staff, and a very good breakfast. More importantly, it has an outstanding location, right in the heart of Ashland, next to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and many outstanding restaurants.

    3
« Nice lodging close in downtown Ashland. »

Low-key lodging in downtown Ashland near the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Easy walk to the theater. Free parking. Free breakfast (typical free breakfast quality). Great service from employees. Family-friendly.

    5
    « Wonderful staff »

The staff of Bard's Inn were very helpful when we had to make some last-minute changes in our vacation itinerary. Bent over backwards to find us the best room. One block from the theater district with shows and restaurants. Also big for us-right on the Bear Creek Parkway bike path. We took advantage of that! Would stay here again for sure.

  • 2
    « No Parking! »

No guaranteed parking spot, for the price paid for the room, made this a ridiculous value. Might as well stay in a cheaper place further away and scrounge for parking near the theater, which we had to do anyway.

    5
« Great location and great nights sleep »

You can't beat the location . You can walk to any place you may want to go. The room was very nice and Clean !!!! We almost always stay at a Best Western and this will be one that we will keep on the saved list. The front desk staff was very friendly and most helpful to us. We got recommendations for dining and great directions for getting back to the freeway quickly.. I can't say enough about the location.. So very convenient for everything and there is so much Ashland has to offer. .

    5
« Don't spend money on other places...this place is PERFECT!!!! »

I cannot tell you how wonderful this place is. Centrally located...you can walk to all plays, restaurants, and coffee. The staff...excellent. And we had dogs so they gave us a nice big room with treats for the kids. I would not stay ANYWHERE else when I return.

    2
    « Not pleased! »

First I was charged for my room by Cancelon before I even arrived. They charged me more than I was originally quoted ( about 50 dollars more )! It was also non-refundable! Then we arrived there was one parking spot left and it was so tight; I had to climb out hubbie's door!! Our room is small ! The air conditioner is up on the wall so you have to climb on the bathroom counter to see the controls! It's loud also!!! The buttons on it don't work! He called the front desk and the employee immediately came and pointed out another control on the wall by the bed for it! LOL!!! Bathroom faucet is broken! Swimming pool is a postage stamp!!! Probably won't be back!!! I like Best Western Windsor better!!!

    4
« Pet Friendly? or Pet Tolerant? »

Nice hotel, good breakfast, quite clean. About your dog - paid the extra $20/night (standard nowadays) and the received an instruction letter of almost 500 words with restrictions and threats about pet tolerance and behavior. Fortunately, our good dog (and several pet-friendly restaurants) allowed us to enjoy our stay without paying the threatened fines or suffering embarrassing eviction.

    4
« Another fine stay in Ashland »

As a guest for many years at the Bard's Inn BW in Ashland, I always loved it and still do -- with friends, family or alone. Keep up the good work!! It makes attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival so much easier. It's just a short walk. Love that swimming pool, too!

    3
« It works for over nite stays »

Besides the air conditioning issue we had in the first room, staff tries very hard to accommodate you. Rooms are basic, but with comfortable beds, nothing fancy. They do not provide water in rooms, but if you're a BW member they give you 1 bottle per person. Water became a commodity in most hotels. Why??? Breakfast could use some more variety as choices go and quality of the present options, but they do bake their own pastries, which is nice and makes up for some short comings.

    4
« Terrific Location and Helpful Staff »

If you're in Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival, this is the place to be! A quick 5 minute walk will get you to all of the theaters. The rooms are nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. The staff are attentive and helpful with everything from amenities to local restaurant recommendations. I've stayed here 3 out of 4 visits and have never had a bad experience.

    3
« Good motel well located in Ashland »

Called an Inn, but it's a motel. Good room. 5 minutes walk from theaters and the Plaza. Ample breakfast with variety. Self serve buffet, not served. Excellent value. We like bed and breakfast inns with a more homey feel to it, but this was certainly adequate and with a great location.

    1
    « DON'T STAY HERE »

It is a very old, run down place to stay. Our building was creaky, and we could listen to EVERYTHING going on in the room above us. The ice machine was filled with little plastic baggies of ice. Breakfast was very minimal. The paper thin towels are size appropriate for children. The shower is bathed in that marbled plastic from the 1980's. I am certain the refrigerator was smaller than the one I had in my college dorm. Only 3 of the 6 jets were functioning in the hot tub, and once I saw the huge, black bug making its way around on the bottom, I got out as fast as I could. We stayed at the hotel across the street last Feb. Plaza Inn & Suites. Stay there. It is lovely, warm, cozy, and they have milk & cookies!

    « Excellent Accommodations »

Overall appearances and quality of the room was excellent, but that was reflected in the price of the room. Also, breakfast selection and seating area were much better than most other hotels that offer free breakfast. I would recommend this place for folk that are not on a tight budget and looking for a higher quality establishment.

« Bard is the best in Ashland »

Everything is excellent except the breakfast while was extraordinary. The location is right across the street from the Shakespeare Festival and allowed easy access to walking through town also. That's all I can say.

« Still home away from home! »

Once again we stayed here and once again were more than satisfied. The hotel is older, a little shabby on the upstairs balconies, but the rooms are clean, beds comfortable, bedding very nice. Our room was a good size and even though the bathroom faced the road, there was no noise to keep us awake. I know that some of the rooms are small but if you ask for a bigger room the staff will do everything they can to fulfill your wishes. Ryan at the front desk is a most efficient and pleasant young man. I had dealt with him on the phone a few months prior and was impressed again with his intelligence and helpfulness. He's a keeper! Also the location can't be beat...within walking distance to everything.

« Great location, comfortable hotel »

The hotel is a few minutes' walk to downtown Ashland. Comfortable room, good service, good breakfast with a range of choices. Free Wifi. A great base for getting to the Shakespeare Festival and Ashland in general.

    « Location, location, location »

We stayed 2 nights here on the way to Mcminville and one night on the way home. We had 2d floor rooms and didn't find that uncomfortable; our trip up was during a heat wave so walking around town was a bit challenging but the return was delightful and because the town is small, we were able to see quite a bit of it. The Park is beautiful with varied trees and plants, all labeled. The hotel was extremely comfortable, the staff great; the room was clean, bright and spacious and we will return here every time we visit McMinville (our son and his family live there). Standing or sitting outside gave us the most relaxing and beautiful vista of the surrounding mountains and trees.

    5
    « Comfortable »

We arrived in Ashland to a very comfortable hotel. The amenities were nice and the room was clean. It was worth the money for the comfort and ease. The location is walkable to many restaurants and to the festival.

    3
    « Flashback to the 70s »

Old motel with very small rooms. The breakfast serving area was way to small for the breakfast items, they should add another bar/serving area to spread out the serving dishes, coffee pots, etc. You are overpaying for the location near the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and downtown Ashland.

    5
    « Graduation »

We were in town for college graduation. The hotel was convenient to downtown shops and restaurants. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was your normal hotel fare but the keish (spelling) looked really good. We would definitely stay there again.

    4
    « Great location »

Excellent location for the Shakespeare Festival. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable bed, good breakfast. Room furniture needs update. They do have a variety of rooms, so maybe some have been updated.

« CC Hills Hiking Group »

The BARD's Inn is excellent. 29 hikers stayed here for four nights and everyone had nothing but high praise for the hotel. The breakfasts were outstanding and of course the location can not be beat. All over a perfect location with an excellent group rate.

« A Pleasant Place To Stay in A Great Location »

We stopped here at the last minute on a road trip. The staff member who checked us in was wonderfully polite and helpful. He gave us a map and recommendations to help us find dinner at a somewhat late hour-- all within walking distance-- which was much appreciated. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet in addition to being a good value. The complimentary breakfast wasn't as great as some others we had on our trip, but hey, it was free, and more than made up for by everything else.

    4
« A Pleasant and Convenient Place to Stay »

I stayed in the Nottingham, or economy, section of Best Western Bard's Inn. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable (with a comfortable bed) and had everything I needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and the very convenient location. If you are in town for the Shakespeare Festival, Bard's Inn is within easy walking distance of the theatres and dining options for all tastes and budgets. I would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Good location »

This Inn is very well located. It is near restaurants, boutiques and shops. Our room was very clean with a King size bed with more pillows than you can use. The drawbacks are that the room was quite small, no tissues were supplied and the presence of a microwave would be helpful. The personnel was nice and very courteous. Another main drawback, parking. was quite challenging (too small of a parking lot), however the personnel managed to find spots for people coming late. I would like to add that breakfast (served until the convenient hour of 10:30 am) is very diverse. Eggs, cereal ,bagels, fruits, etc available in a very nice breakfast room.

« The most wonderful, friendly place to stay while in Ashland »

I am pleased to write a review of this wonderful location. It is close to the Shakespeare Theaters. It is warm and comfortable while still being affordable. It has at door parking and a pool. It also has a great continental breakfast replenished by warm and friendly people. The folks who clean the rooms are terrific. The ENTIRE staff is caring and supportive of all our needs. I stay in Ashland often. I ALWAYS choose Bard's Inn. It is a lot like coming home!

    4
« Great location, room, and breakfast. »

This is a great place to stay in Ashland. Its right downtown and has quiet comfortable rooms. The breakfast is outstanding with a little of everything from pancakes to fruit. One step above the usual free breakfasts. I'll be back for sure.

    5
« Visited again, it's still our favorite! »

This was our second stay, and the Bard's Inn is still our favorite hotel in Ashland! The location is perfect -- just a couple blocks from Lithia Park and the Plaza, three blocks from the theaters, all the shopping is right there -- just the best location for all we want to do. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and the free breakfast is definitely a cut above other free breakfasts that we've experienced with other hotels. We will definitely be back again!

« Yearly Girls Get Together »

We are a group who have been coming to Ashland for the theater and staying at The Bards for four days for more than ten years. We usually have 3-4 rooms all in the building across the street nearest the downtown. The rooms are clean, spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable. Coffee/tea is provided and there is a small fridge. Sink/make up area is outside bathroom, which is nice. Lighting over sink could be better and a magnifying mirror would be a plus! Very good breakfast, almost anything you might want is included and available every day. There is a small pool by the dining area. Staff is great, very helpful. The hotel is a short walk to the Shakespeare Festival theaters and many stores and restaurants. The Main Street is just fun to browse or shop, and beautiful Lythia park is not to be missed- and all within walking distance! The best thing is there is no sales tax so if you are from California, you automatically save 10%! Enjoy!

    « Best Western Bard's Inn »

Great inn ideally situated adjacent to downtown Ashland OR. We were only passing through, staying only one night. But this would be a perfect base for a stay in Ashland. Everything about the inn was perfect, as we have come to expect from Best Western.

    5
    « Another great stay »

My wife and I stayed at Bard's Inn for the second time in 3 months, and our experience was as good as the first time. A terrific location with fun restaurants and beautiful walking paths nearby. Comfortable room with nice extras, a very good hot breakfast with local extras, and friendly staff.

    « Our Fav! »

We have been visiting Ashland for over 10 years now. We have always enjoyed our stay at the Bard's Inn. The rooms that we like are across the street from the office where they are spacious with Jacuzzis, small refrigerators, etc. They are always clean, and well maintained. This location is close to everything! We usually enjoy the breakfast there where they have a variety of items everyday, ie. cereals( hot & cold), eggs, burritos, quiches, meat, breads, juices, etc. The staff are also very nice and helpful.

« Quiet, comfortable and walking distance to Lithia Park! »

We have stayed here twice, Dec 2015- Feb 2016. The first trip we had a family suite located in a small private court behind the main facilty. Large comfortable room with plenty of seating, dining table - small patio and a private parking area. Second trip was a smaller room in main building, standard size room. This hotel is pet friendly but the rooms are exceptionally fresh. We were greeted by friendly staff, and when we pressed one to many buttons on the tv remote they were on top of things quickly and helped us fix it quickly. LIthia Park is a short walk across the street, and provides for a great walking tour of all the wonderful little shops, galleries and restaurants that make Ashland an amazing place to visit!

    4
« Very Nice, but Very Small Rooms »

The Facility is Centrally Located close to Everything. The Facility is Well Maintained and the Staff is Very Friendly and Helpful. The Well Appointed Breakfast Buffet is Very Nice. Two Negatives, the Rooms are Quite Small but adequate and there are No Areas available for playing Card Games.

    4
« Great location! Walking to all theater events. »

Clean, updated, comfortable. Breakfast included cereal, eggs, meat, juices, yogurts, bread variety. Hot tub, tho' rarely used ,a little buggy, was a good temp. Good front desk service , convenient to all Bard Theaters.

    4
    « Great spot »

The Bard is a wonderful place to stay to see Ashland, and enjoy a play. We stopped on our way home from California, and booked the least expensive room that they had. The $ was great. They do have fabulous better rooms in the two other buildings but on this trip we weren't looking for that. We had a comfortable room, walking distance to all the restaurants and the shops. Decent hot buffet breakfast.

    5
« Beautiful town, great hotel »

This hotel is great. It is located in a perfect, convenient spot in Ashland. It is a 2 minute walk downtown and to Lithia Park. The continental breakfast is great breakfast, too. I highly recommend this hotel.

    4
    « Very happy »

This facility is conveniently located close to good restaurants and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theaters. It has some elegant rooms, but I choose to stay in the older, "no-nonsense" section because I don't need a lot of space. The bed is magnificent and there's actually a comfortable chair and a good reading light for those who still read things.

    5
« Clean, Friendly, and Comfortable »

This hotel has so many great attributes. The rooms are very comfortable and especially spacious in the building we were in. We will definitely stay here in the future when we come to Ashland for a theater weekend.

    5
    « Wonderful »

We were able to check in early - at 11am and given a corner room which was larger than a standard room. The check-in process was handled very well and all the information we needed was shared. Since we are members of Best Western, we got a welcome bag which had bottled waters and granola bars - nice surprise. Hotel location is great - we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. One downside - parking can be limited at times. Breakfast was fine - lots of choices. Bed was very comfortable. Our AAA rate was $100.

    5
« Great place to stay over in Ashland »

Clean, close to everything, huge rooms! The location is very convenient to walk into talk and shop. The breakfast is very good but I didn't care for the scrambled egg product they use. Everything else is nice and many choices. Our room the first time was average but this last time, we were given a room with a full jacuzzi tub and extra seating area which was very comfortable.

    4
    « Bards In Stay »

Overall service was good to excellent. There was some noise from a boisterous group talking in the hallway on the first night. Breakfast was much more generous than a "Continental" breakfast. Parking was adequate in an area with limited on street parking.

« Comfortable stay in Ashland. »

On a recent trip to Seattle my wife and I stayed at the Bard's Inn for one night heading north and one night on the way home. Both times we found the rooms comfortable, clean, and quiet despite the inn being quite full.It is ideally located just a short distance walk from many restaurants, shops, and the Shakespeare theaters. The staff was helpful and even called us to say we had forgotten a favorite travel pillow in our room and they would be happy to ship it to us if wanted. Recommended!

    3
    « Excellent location / dated decor »

If you are planning to attend the Shakespeare Festival, this hotel is only two blocks from the theaters, as well as lots of restaurants and shops...but still a quiet location. We were pleased with the included breakfast. However, the room decor was dated with tacky wallpaper and worn carpet. While there was a new plastic shower surround, there was extremely low water pressure...making it difficult to rinse away shampoo. Also, there was no TV guide, and no broadcast channel to help locate shows.

    4
    « Good value »

Bard's Inn is in an excellent location for walking to the Oregon Shakespeare festival theaters, along with the shops and restaurants that come with the Festival. The rooms are attractive, the staff pleasant and fairly helpful, and the breakfast served as part of your stay has improved greatly over the past year, so that the food is varied and tasty, with healthful options. The only annoying thing is the absence of any place to hang wet wash cloths and used hand towels at the sink, which is separate form the shower and toilet, leaving the only options to throw them on the bathtub floor, wasting water and energy, or drape them on doors and the faux ice bucket, which looks tacky.

    4
    « Beautiful room »

This was one of the prettiest rooms we stayed in, with superb mattresses. Came with fridge and everything a person could need. The breakfast was quite good, with lots of choices. One odd thing was the parking. We stayed in a building with parking below. I drive a truck and we barely made it in, then the area to park in was quite tight. I just ended up parking on the street. The area around the area was really tight if you met a maid with a cart. The location was good, it's not right on 5, but downtown. Very good sleep.

    3
« Smell Before You Stay »

We were satisfied with this location until we were moved to another room. The second room smelled like human urine. I felt like I was punked. The first room was the quality we trusted at Best Western. What I didn't get was why they moved us to the urine smelling room. I don't know why we were down graded because we stayed another night? Could it be that I am Native American?

    4
    « Great Location »

We recently visited Ashland as part of an outing for residents of The Springs at Clackamas Woods in Milwaukie, Oregon. The staff were very accommodating and the extra help with our residents was appreciated. One of our resident's needed a handicapped room and although the bathroom facilities were satisfactory, the room was small and difficult to navigate with a scooter because of the size of the furniture. We were placed in accommodations across the street from the breakfast room necessitating the use of the van to assist our residents with less mobility. The hotel itself was well appointed and clean. The breakfast had a wide variety of items to choose from and was replenished in a timely manner. All the staff were friendly and Irene was invaluable in helping us get settled into our rooms. Although she had a day off, she returned to the property to see us off making our residents feel very special. The location can't be beat. We enjoyed walking through the town, visiting the many shops and enjoying the atmosphere.

    4
« Three Plays in Ashland »

The location close to the OSF is our main concern as we like to walk to the plays. The food was so so, the service very good. You need to have regular wooden backed chairs and a lower table so that they can be used to play games or do puzzles or even read the paper and use the table. The same can be said for the furniture in the gathering room. Those couches are worthless to sit comfortably, and even worse for short people.

    5
    « Outstanding Hotel »

We Stay at this hotel every year! Love the hotel. Very clean, staff is incredible. Excellent location where we can walk to plays, restaurants and shop! Rooms are large, beds comfortable. Would not consider staying anywhere else.

    5
« Perfect for wheelchair accessibility »

The shower at the hotel was even better in terms of accessibility than the shower I have in my own home! I use a manual wheelchair exclusively, and the Best Western Bard's Inn is easily the best hotel accommodations I've ever experienced. The bed was great, too. Highly recommended,

« Theatre Department field trip »

Conveniently located near OSF, Lithia Park, restaurants, and shops. An excellent breakfast that was way more than "Continental." Well-appointed rooms. A mini fridge, a decent bed (let's face it, when is a hotel bed ever as good as your own)? Excellent housekeeping. Friendly front desk staff. A gift for each student on departure day. My only complaint: hard butter does not spread on toast. Tell the uber-attentive dining room staff that it's ok to leave the butter at room temperature for breakfast! Can't wait to return!

« You are not far from the Bard on Stage »

We enjoyed nice accommodations and nice staff during our stay to see plays, shop and dine in Ashland. The Bard's Inn is close to all those adventures. Larger rooms in the building with the Standing Shakespeare portrait provide nice features of space, quiet and below the building parking. We will return on a future trip and plan adequately ahead to avoid impact of school tour groups. The short walk to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a plus for this property.

    4
« Pleasant, nice place to stay. Good location. »

Went to Ashland, Oregon, to attend the Shakespeare Festival and get in some wine tasting at local wineries. The play we saw was outstanding; the Bard's Inn was very pleasant - clean, nice staff. Very good location...easy walk to downtown.

    4
« Great location and spot for short stay »

King bedroom was very small but adequate for a short stay. Great location to Ashland's main amenities. If we stayed longer, we would ask for a larger suite. Great breakfast and very clean establishment.

    3
« Very small King Rooms »

The smallest king room we have stayed in, in the US. With the king bed it was very difficult to move around in the room. This room was at best a Queen room, which someone had put a king bed in. The location was a little difficult to find, one way streets, kind of a hidden drive way.

    5
    « Great location »

We love staying at the Bard's Inn because it is so very close to the theaters and shopping. We can park the car and just walk to everything. Rooms are great and the hotel is quiet during the night so one can sleep.

    5
    « Awesome! »

The customer service was excellent. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The lady at the front desk even brought up a microwave for me during my stay. This is the only place I'll stay in Ashland. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a nice room in Ashland.

    5
« Great location. Very nice property. »

We enjoyed our stay at Bards Inn. It's important to note that there are two sections of this hotel. The original, older side and a newer side. We weren't aware of this until we arrived and asked if we could be placed in a newer room. Evidently our reservation was in the older section, but the friendly front desk attendant was able to upgrade us to a beautiful 'newer' room with a very comfy king bed. This is not always an option so it's recommended to clarify this when you book. We had a nice view down main from our second story room. The room was well appointed - nice towels and linens. (What was missing was a makeup mirror. How about adding this amenity Bards?. ) The location of Bards Inn was ideal! We walked to the theater, restaurants and shops. Lithia Park is just across the street. We travel to Ashland once or twice a year. We found our new favorite place to stay.

    1
    « So small »

I went there on my honeymoon and thought I was getting a suite. It was very expensive and soooo small. I do not recommend this hotel. The decor is older and not as elegant as I would have hoped especially for the price I paid.

    5
« Yearly stay while traveling for golf »

I love this hotel. It is always as we expect and we are never disappointed. The close proximity to downtown Ashland is a bonus. It is the only place that we plan our halfway driving stop. Just wish they would consider a military discount.

    1
    « Smelly »

My friend booked this hotel, I was wishing it was my turn to book our hotel. Our room had a strange odor, not to mention the dirty mirror and hairy floors, service was not pleasant we ended up checking out earlier then we anticipated and went to a different hotel in Ashland.

  • 4
    « Fun »

This Best Western Has Outstanding rooms in the new section. The old portion has been up graded to a high standared, but it is crampted. The noise level in the older section is loud due to people comming and going. The walls are thin and you can here the people next door. The newer parts are quite and larger. If you end up in the older section bring ear plugs.

    1
« Strong odor, dirty carpet, and outdated »

The strong odor, dirty carpet, and outdated furniture made my stay restless, sleepless, and miserable. I forgot to mention that when I checked windows to see if they were locked, I found the bathroom window unlocked. I checked into the other BestWestern in Ashland and was very satisfied.

    5
« The best in Ashland. OR »

I have stayed in this hotel several times as it is very convenient for theater in Ashland. The hotel is attractive both inside and out and displays a bit of Shakespeare and Shakespeare's England in its design and decor. The rooms are good sized, comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly, knowledgable and informative obviously a reflection of good management. The breakfast is above the normal Best Western and the breakfast room is large and never seems crowded. Price is very fair for what you get in return

    5
    « Great location! »

We spent one night here on our way to S California. The room was very clean and comfortable. The Keurig machine in the room is a nice touch. The location is fantastic. We walked to dinner and took a long walk in Lithia Park in the morning before leaving. The breakfast is excellent with lots of choices. We enjoyed it so much, we're planning another trip to Ashland to take in a few plays.

« Perfect location, beautiful room, very friendly staff »

I stayed here one night with my sister and brother-in-law on the opening weekend of the Shakespeare Festival. Upon check-in they upgraded me to a deluxe room, and handed me water bottles and snacks. The room was very spacious along with a cozy chair and table, large mirror and vanity, refrigerator, and spacious bathroom. We were not cramped at all, and the extra room with 3 adults was nice. We were in the building across the street from the office, and it was in the perfect location within walking distance to bars, restaurants, Lithia Park, and, of course, the Shakespeare Festival. We couldn't have asked for a better room or location. We ate at Brothers for brunch (just a block away) the next morning, which I also highly recommend ? they have great espresso and delicious breakfast. I give this hotel 5 stars all around.

    5
    « Special experience »

The Bard's Inn is an attractive hotel spread among three buildings in the heart of Ashland. Wonderful walking paths and parks, as well as a multitude of fun restaurants and shops, are just steps away. Our room was quiet, very clean, nicely decorated and furnished, and had interesting architectural features, like an angled ceiling and small balcony. The bed was particularly comfortable. The breakfast was well above average, with high-quality items like locally-made fresh berry scones and mini quiches, sweet slices of fresh fruit as well as tasty eggs and sausage. While this is not a lavish luxury hotel, it offers an especially pleasant and engaging experience at a very reasonable price.

    « Anniversary Weekend »

We spent our 29th wedding anniversary in Ashland the Bard Inn was lovely and so close to everything. We had a fantastic time. The staff when we told them it was our anniversary upgraded our room. It was lovely and so relaxing. The Jacuzzi tub was wonderful. The small kitchen area was nice. The breakfast room was right across the street and convenient.

    5
    « good value »

perfect location for Ashland visit being just a short walk to a variety of good quality restaurants, park trails, and Shakespeare theaters, cute shops and bookstore. Our room was very comfortable and clean with two armchairs and a nice reading light. We accidentally left a charger cord and the hotel was kind enough to call us and hold it for us. I would stay there again next time I'm in Ashland.

    « Bard's Best Western Inn »

Had an excellent visit at this hotel. Caring staff, very clean facility. Close to downtown Ashland with many resturants, pubs, shopping available. Nice breakfast area and food assortment. Very quiet location.

    4
« Convenience is a plus - pets are tolerated »

The Bard's Inn is well situated at the north end of town. There are separate buildings, plenty of parking and a very good continental breakfast. Staff is friendly. Lithia Park is an easy stroll away as is all of downtown. Pets are tolerated in some rooms but there is an additional fee. Ashland has a large dog park but you must drive to get there. Pets are not allowed in Lithia Park. The motel does not provide 'poop bags' or a convenient yet safe walking place for pets aside from a 2' wide grass strip along the road.

« Nice place to stay »

Staff was excellent and room was clean, location was close to downtown and shopping. Breakfast was pretty good. Bed was not the most comfortable but I prefer a softer bed. Noticed a lot of skiers staying there so must good location for skiing.I would stay there again.

    « Great stay! »

We had a great stay here and Ryan was awesome at the front desk! He was very helpful, friendly, and kind. We were given a waking map of the downtown area and suggestions for dinner. Later on we were in need of an extra blanket and one was quickly deliver to the room. The breakfast was exactly what one would expect and was well run by the employees.

This is a very comfortable place to stay close to everything. Great breakfast provided. Connecting rooms are available with great parking. Very close to Southern Oregon University. Medford is just a few miles away and taking old 99 you get to go through small towns of Talent and Phoenix.

« Cute Rooms, Great Staff »

We stopped here on our way home from our Thanksgiving trip to Seattle. Was pleasantly surprised when we got into our room. It was actually a two bedroom suite (we were traveling with teenage boys so the space was nice). The room was clean and quaint. Walking distance to downtown. Breakfast was good with a lot of options. Staff was super helpful. Would stay here again

    « Ashland Oregon »

Located within walking distance to trendy eateries and boutiques and a beautiful park to walk my dog. The I-5 freeway was within 2 miles from BW. Needed a place that was dog friendly. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good full breakfast with a nice view. Easy to find. Busy street but easy to enter from the street.. On check-in we were given doggie treats for my little dog and granola bars and water and a newspaper for us.

« Just as Good in Winter! »

This was my second stay in this motel, my first was a year ago during fall. This time I stayed between Christmas and New Year's. This motel is located in downtown Ashland close to Lithia Park and the Shakespeare Festival. Many restaurants are within walking distance. Parking is available in an underground garage. Reception check in and check out was courteous and efficient. Our room was clean, roomy, and quiet. My husband and I enjoyed a good night's sleep. When we woke up in the morning rainy Ashland had turned into a winter wonderland. We had breakfast in the breakfast room overlooking Main Street. This is one of the more diverse breakfasts I've had in BW's. LOTS of items to choose from. After breakfast we walked to Lithia Park to enjoy the snow. Lithia Park is nice any time of year. One of the best city parks in the US, and it's practically across the street from this hotel! (See my review and photos of the park in spring, fall, and winter).

« Booked a room for the King Suite and in Room Hot Tube »

Showed up early with my wife after finally getting one night without our kids so we could enjoy the room and relax in the hot tub. Found that the hot tub drain was broken and that the manager was completely unavailable to address this issue. Despite this hotel having three buildings, there was only one employee working. Nearly two hours after checking-in, we were told that we would need to change rooms to a small room with a one person jetted tub in the bathroom. As well, I was told that the room would be $25 cheaper (as if I cared!). The frustration of this experience is that there was no one available who knew anything about this issue or how to even work the hot tub. The manager was not available on a busy Saturday night to help the lone employee covering for every guest in the three buildings much less our dilemma despite being contacted numerous times. And then, after wasting two hours of our time, the only compensation provided was to tell us the room would be less expensive. We live IN TOWN and the only reason we even decide to stay at the Bards is because it has the King Suite with the large Jacuzzi tub NOT because we need a bed to sleep in. My feeling is that given the wasted time, the inconvienence as well as the lack of services promised at booking, the room provided should have been fully comped and/or the room we requested should have been provided as compensation as a rain-check for a later date.

    5
    « Great Stay »

This was my second stay at the Best Western Bard's Inn. The room was comfortable, but the staff made this stay exceptional. They are always professional, friendly and helpful. An added bonus was the price was quite reasonable.

« First-time visit to Ashland & we lucked out! »

Our 1st trip to this town resulted in finding a very comfortable room with an upscale restaurant a few yards away. We parked our car in an underground lot, just a few yards from the elevator to our room. The room was well-appointed with super comfortable beds. We had a short walk to a generous breakfast buffet. Our stay couldn't have been better!

    « BW Bard's Inn »

The Bards Inn is the preferred place for us to stay when in Ashland, OR. it is pricey when the OSF is open but in the off season is a great place to stay because of its downtown location, allowing us to walk to the downtown and not worry about parking. The included breakfast is superb as long as the oatmeal is cooked enough.

« Nice staff, very clean but nothing special »

We chose this hotel, after looking over the others in Ashland. It was a few days after Christmas. We requested a 'handi-capable' room, which they were able to give us, it was over across in the second building, on the 2nd floor. Very clean room, but seemed a bit small, having 2 arm chairs cramped into a corner with a small round table with a lamp on top of it (we like to play Yahtzee before dinner). And each queen bed had 8 pillows each, is that necessary? And the maid set the heat to 80! Our room faced the street (right at the corner where the stoplight is), so traffic noise to deal with till falling asleep. And to get into the 'breakfast room' you have to walk up the sidewalk by the street and several steps, a bit much for my husband and his cane. And the breakfast wasn't that great either. Another surprise? No coffee of tea in the lobby. So while it wasn't a bad stay overnight, I think we'll reconsider next time in Ashland.

« A Few Steps Away from a Picturesque Central Village »

A few days before Christmas we stopped at this pet friendly hotel. The hotel itself is in four separate buildings. Our room with two double beds was a first floor room in a remote building in a quiet neighborhood. Before dinner we walked a few blocks to the central village to check out the restaurants we would consider for dinner. The central village was decorated in holiday splendor. This would be a good place to stay when the Shakespeare festival begins in 2016.

« Great location, well maintained, you can't go wrong, but forget their breakfast. »

This is a very large Inn, but kept at people size, as they have different buildings on three corners of downtown Ashland. Very centrally located, and you can easily walk to shops, a variety of excellent restaurants, and the beautiful Lithia Park. Also, good for jogging in the park. I was there before Xmas, and it was nearly empty, but the service was fine, and things were cleaned and taken care of without fuss. Parking is ample and free. The free breakfast, though, was not so great, and repetitive. There were powdered eggs, strange potato squares, rubbery egg mixture pies, limp, nearly uncooked bacon, and orange juice that was maybe the 10% kind, and a pancake machine that cranked out blah white flour cakes. Consider going to one of the nearby restaurants, like the Breadboard nearby, which was far superior to the Inn's breakfast offerings. Still, I liked this place, and you can get good deals online, for a lovely large comfortable room, and friendly helpful staff. I noted in this review that it was a budget motel, meaning reasonably priced, but do not mean cheap in its character. It is attractive and well furnished, and I had a wonderful comfortable king size bed. I would certainly stay there again, and do recommend it.

« GREAT location, excellent stay »

We were in the annex, in back, and somehow were given a HUGE room, downstairs, with a little outdoors sitting area. Service was great, the room was great (we could spread out). Breakfasts were lovely. Access to Ashland activities was easy and very good. Unless you're seeking a romantic B&B experience, I can't see why you'd stay anywhere else.

    « Quality meets affordability »

Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Quiet even though it was in the city and the curtains were black out so we could sleep in late. That was a perc for sure. Breakfast could use a bit more freshness and better quality breakfast meat. All in all, I would stay there again.

« Nice Rooms - Great Service - Pet Friendly - Good Value »

Driving from Portland south to the Bay Area, we always stop in Ashland as it is a 1/2 way point and a great village to visit. As we travel with a pet our selection for hotels are limited but Best Western usually offers 'pet friendly' rooms, as this hotel does. The front desk is always friendly and helpful. For the many years we drive through Ashland, we have never looked for another hotel to stay and will will continue to stay here!

    « Wonderful Inn »

This charming Inn had everything I needed making my trip more pleasurable. I enjoyed the location for walkability around town. I liked my stay so much, I am planning to go back with family and friends on a weekend getaway sometime later in the year.

« Location of this property is great. »

I would have probably given this hotel a lower rating if the location wasn't so nice. It is located at the very end of downtown near the plaza area. All of the shops and restaurants we wanted to visit were withing walking distance. The hotel is split into two locations, divided by Main Street, and caused a little confusion. The staff must be used to this because the spent extra time explaining where our room was located and how to get there. You do have to cross a busy intersection and park across the street if you are assigned a room in the other building. The room was nicely furnished and average size for a standard room. It was decorated in the typical décor for the area, Shakespearian. The only real problem we had was the shower temperature. My wife screamed a couple times during her shower due to the hot water almost completely shutting off on her. It wasn't as funny for her as it was for me. I showered earlier and had no problems. The other issue we had was the continental breakfast. I never expect a gourmet meal, but I at least expect it to be hot or at least warm. My eggs and sausage as well as some other items were lukewarm at best. I ended up having some yogurt and juice and left hungry. My wife and daughter had some quiche and they were better. I would have went and got one of those, but they were out. Even thought the room was not crowded. Overall, I would definitely give them another chance. The location is excellent and we love Ashland.

    « Cute and Comfortable »

Great location. The rooms are located in different buildings which are on either side of the street. The parking lot wasn't the easiest to access, but such is to be expected if you are staying downtown without a valet. We stayed for a number of days to enjoy the shops and see a few plays. Short walk to a number of restaurants, shops, and the theaters. Definitely a plus not having to find parking. The room was cozy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. A number of food choices at a buffet style breakfast.

    « Bard's Inn is great! »

Bard's Inn is the best place to stay the night in Ashland, Oregon. The location is great -- a two minute walk to the plays -- staff are friendly and the rooms are very clean. And the price is right. You really can't ask for more.

    « Comfortable and convenient... »

Stopped in Ashland for a concert on a motorcycle trip from Washington to SoCal. The Bards Inn was located conveniently close to the venue and many restaurants. All within walking distance! Spacious and comfortable room and a great staff. Breakfast area was large and offered good selection of items. Definitely a good choice for your visit to Ashland!

    « Great hotel »

It's located in the perfect part of town. The front desk was very friendly and nice. The rooms were spacious and the beds were super comfortable. The air conditioning and heater was quiet. Overall a great hotel.

« Best place to stay in Ashland! »

I have stayed at numerous hotels in Ashland and The Bard's Inn is by far, the best for location and modern conveniences. It may not have the charm of several of the older hotels but in the summer you need A/C. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are heaven! The Annex north across the street is a newer building and I thought the beds even lovelier than the main building. I have stayed in summer several times but this last visit was in November.

    4
    « Excellent location »

We appreciated the complimentary upgrade to the newer building with a parking garage. After a long drive it was great to be able to walk to Lythia Park and enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons. We loved the scallops at Harvey's!

    4
« Lovely room close to town and activities »

We arrived late in the evening and were pleased to find an available room in one of their newer buildings. Covered garage parking with elevator access were definitely pluses and the bed and shower were wonderful. We made use of the in-room refrigerator and the hallway ice machine. The hotel was just a few blocks from town but we drove because the weather was nasty and found a wonderful restaurant just down the road. This was a great find at a reasonable price.

    4
« Good hot breakfast and comfortable room »

Good hot breakfast and comfortable room. Will consider to stay again if we travel around that area. The only down side is that you have to walk across the road to have breakfast. It's a bit inconvenient with young kids.

« Clean and wonderful service »

Located near downtown Asland. We drove in after midnight to find we were given a complimentary upgrade. Front desk clerk at check in and check out were both very friendly and efficient. We had nice room with 2 wonderfully comfortable and warm beds. Everything in the room was nice and clean. Even had a little balcony. Only downside is that we came during fall when temperatures were cold and we had to rely on the heater in the room. Heater was very noisy that it had to be turned off at night in order to sleep. This wasn't much of an issue though because although the comforter felt very thin. It was actually EXTREMELY warm. Breakfast in morning had three kinds of juices, milk, coffee and even hot cocoa. Food wise there were choices of cereal, pancakes AND hot biscuits and gravy among lots of other things.

« Best Western in Ashland »

Very clean and comfortable beds, great breakfast in the morning, great selection of items. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. No workout equipment, had to use other Best Western across town, and their equipment wasn't that great. No washer and dryer. Maids made a lot of noise in morning

    « A nice comfortable stay. »

We spent one night at Bard's Best Western Inn in Ashland. We received a warm greeting upon our arrival and were in our room in just a couple of minutes. Our room was located just across from the main building so we also had a parking garage for our vehicle. Our room was nice and clean and very comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to ask for a room that is not on the street side of the building because we did have quite a bit of road noise all through the night. We want to give a 5 rating but will only give a 4 because of the road noise. Other than that Bard's is a good choice for a nice comfortable stay.

« Great place to stay in Ashland »

We had a wonderful time in Ashland which included a 3 day stay at the Bard's Inn. We would recommend a stay in late October to see the Fall colors and lighter crowds. We had great meals without reservations and all was in walking distance of the theaters.

    3
    « Friendly Staff »

Pros: The young lady checking me in was wonderfully happy and friendly to me and my dog Roscoe. While there was a slight issue with the room (odor), my overall stay was warm and welcome. I slept like a baby.

    « Perfect Location »

This was our first time staying at the Bards Inn in Ashland. Nice!! We stayed in the new building across the street and everything about it was amazing. You couldn't ask for a better location. We walked down on the plaza and all around town. I will stay here again next time we are in town. And I will highly recommend this to all our friends and family.

« Great location in Ashland, Oregon »

We stayed at this property in October, 2015. The location is perfect. Easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and the live theatres that Ashland is famous for. The hotel itself is very comfortable with adequate parking. The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was in a very nice breakfast room, The buffet was the best of the four Best Westerns we stayed at on this trip. It was the only buffet attended by a hard working employee who did a great job. She should be complimented. The price was reasonable but I think it is probably a lot higher when the theatres are fully operating.

    3
    « Expensive Best Western »

Average room in need of upgrading and very noisy if you are facing the street. No plugs on desk or night table for charging phone etc so have to hunt for it on the wall and disconnect a lamp. What is it ? the 19th century...? Very poor breakfast. Overall not worth the money. When I return to Ashland I will go somewhere else...maybe the Ashland Inn across the street.

    4
    « Great location »

A great location for those seeking to take in Oregon Shakespeare Festival activities or shop Main street in Ashland. We like staying in their rooms across street from main Inn. Have never been disappointed. Is not a historical place to stay like many in the area, but for the price is a nice, upper scale option.

« Ashland for Business in Late October. »

I was in Ashland for business for one night. The front desk staff was particularly helpful. My double room was the last one available, so seemed costly for just one person. But Ashland is an expensive city, and this was a nice place to stay -- very convenient to downtown, walkable, safe, and very well maintained.

    « Great value »

Best location and nice rooms. Breakfast is very basic and not very nutritious but lots of other places to choose from close by. It was a great choice for the price, parking is a bit difficult but staff were very helpful and rooms were clean and there are in room refrigerators.

    « Perfect »

Pleasantly surprised! We had a wonderfully quiet 2Q room w/a balcony. The bed was so comfy, extra pillows, pleasant all around. We slept so well. Breakfast was in a lovely room w/big windows overlooking old town, fresh food, good variety. Staff was friendly. Great location, just a block to old town. Would definitely stay again.

« Great Location. Great staff. Great beds »

First time at this property. It is walking distance to all the spots we wanted. Staff very friendly and the beds are great. They also allow dogs. We would stay here again. There is a great variety of rooms and they even have family rooms with bedrooms for the children. Quiet, safe and we enjoyed our time.

    « Downtown Ashland trip »

Hotel was nice, great location, good staff. Room facing the street was very noisy after the bars closed each night at 2am. The breakfast was not very good. Impossible to watch Netflix movies on laptop at night, the internet was very slow.

    4
    « A nice one-nighter »

Nice, clean, a bit pricey. Using the heater/ A/C requires taking a semester class. The phone didn't work. Cell phones are better anyway. I have to add characters to this for it to be accepted? Now THAT is stoopid! But here you go.

    « Pleasant surprise »

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel, it is cozy and comfortable. A bit expensive, but that must have been due to the tourist season. Location: +Downtown Ashland, close to many restaurants and shops Room: +clean +spacious +coffee maker, with all you need +tv, phone, hairdyrer +free wifi, with good speed Service: +breakfast was very good, diverse food and plenty. « Great hotel »

Great pleasant staff, helpful, and informative. Beautiful rooms, walking distance to downtown, always stay here when close by. Ashland is a great place to visit and Bards is a great place to stay. Rooms are always clean, nicely decorated, breakfast offered, outdoor pool and internet. Love to go to dinner and a play and walk back to Hotel. If you are staying at Ashland, try the Bards.

    4
« Close, comfy and courteous »

Close to the theaters and offers a free smorgasbord breakfast with many choices. Comfortable beds, clean, gracious staff. The pool is not for swimming laps, but would be great to cool down in the summer. There is a hot tub for relaxing at the end of the day.

    4
« Nice stay but our room was cramped. »

Great location, and rooms seemed recently refurbished. However, the room was cramped -- we could not walk between the armoire/closet and the bed with the doors open, and it had a very small sink area (the coffee machine and ice bucket had to be stored below in the cabinet). The housekeepers did not re-stock the coffee two of the four days we were there. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay, within easy walking distance of theaters and restaurants.

    4
    « Ashland stay »

Very nice hotel. Very large but well cared for. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast that was included in the room price was a cut above many included breakfasts. We only stayed one night on our way North, but would go back and stay longer if we were going to stay in Ashland for any reason.

« Great location, very large and clean rooms »

This hotel is perfectly situated just a couple of blocks from Lithia Park, restaurants, shops and the theater venues in downtown Ashland. Rooms were very large and clean. I was traveling with my dog and our room was at ground level, which was very convenient.

« Shakespeare Sojurn at the Bard's Inn »

This Shakespeare-themed motel is located just 4 blocks away from the three theaters that are venues for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The rooms are comfortable but not luxurious. Copies of USA Today are delivered each weekday morning to your doorstep. Their breakfast buffet is EXCEPTIONAL!

    « disappointment! »

When I went to enter my room, for some reason the door was open! That should have given me a clue but I was tired and just wanted to unpack and rest. The carpets were dirty and the A/C very noisy. I believe this room was not kept up because it is the room they give to hotels.com members! Very unfortunate and I will not be staying there again!

« The best stay EVER!!! »

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location; helpful staff; excellent amenities! We were there with a school group for the Ashland Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the hotel went WAY out of it's way to make our student group feel welcome. Breakfast was amazing! Fantastic staff. All around BEST hotel experience EVER!

« Great place to stay overnight or for a week »

The rooms make you feel like home, the breakfast will please the most fastidious dieter and the service is superb. For Oregon Shakespeare Festival Patrons it is a great location. Can walk to the theaters. Can walk to many restaurants. And you can have a great FREE breakfast without even leaving the motel pro[er.

« ?The good I stand on is my truth and honesty.? »

But in this case caveat emptor seems to be a more appropriate view of the management's guiding principle. We booked two Deluxe King rooms with balcony over eight months in advance of our September visit to the Northwest from Central California. Our room on the way up was quite nice, better than we expected in a Best Western. Good enough to improve the way I felt about Best Western properties. Verona room 785A was great. Balcony gave us a place to relax after a long drive to unwind, sip wine and reflect on our journey (all while siting on very cheap and wobbly plastic chairs). The room had good natural light and was very pleasant and generally OK as long as you like a wash sink in the room and not in the bathroom. When we checked out we were told we would have the same room upon our return (12 days later)--without even asking the clerk to reconfirm that fact. Upon our return we were given room 783-A in the same building. This room faced another building in the back, had no balcony and very limited natural light. It was like a cave. When we returned to the desk we were told that none of the balcony rooms were available at the time we made our original reservations. A total crock. What follows is a quick review of the facilities not covered above. Both rooms were larger and generally better furnished and decorated than most Best Western Inns, even BW Plus. The property location is outstanding for walking to most restaurants and Shakespeare attractions and to enjoying strolls in nearby Bluebird Park. Parking, at least in the Verona, is covered and very adequate. A luggage cart and elevator are available in this building. The breakfast room is quite nice and the meal offerings (and the efforts of the attendants) are quite satisfactory for this category of motel. We would have enjoyed it except for the deceit--it was beyond a simple misunderstanding. We would not stay here again even though we were planning to early next year. Dear manager: "Would you not have me honest?"
