« Good location, fair price, nice staff, good room »

Had a superior room on 3rd floor facing street. Large room for Paris, nice bathroom. Carpet could use a cleaning or replacement. Beds comfy though odd square pillows. Large bathroom with ok shower. Bathtub could use bars to get in/out earlier. Shampoo and soap in dispensers only. Staff helpful and friendly. Large selection of magazines and newspapers in lobby. Odd wifi needed to sign in every time. Good breakfast. Yes the elevators are small but there are two and they come quickly. Good area. Close to Trocdero and Arc de Triumphe. Hotel 2 blocks from Victor Hudo metro stop. Area has many restaurant choices at many price points. Good bakery (boulangerie) at Victor Hugo square for breakfast. Supermarket there too for pics is and supplies. Lots of locals and feels safe. Would stay here again

    « Perfectly located »

After reading the negative comments about this hotel is felt it needed some positive comments. Position in Paris is very important when your there for sightseeing. Walking for me to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc and all the tourists areas was important and This hotel allows that. Our room was spacious enough for two with a large shower ensuite. Wifi worked. Breakfasts quality and plentiful. Staff extremely helpful. The lift....... ok it's small ..... so what! There are two. Please do not let this put you off. I managed 2 suitcases and 2 persons in the smaller of the two. Having to wait. Really no hardship. Lots of small bistro restaurants nearby better value than eating with a monument in sight!! Excellent value hotel.

« Extremely clean, well equipped Hotel in a great area »

A lovely clean Hotel in the safest part of Paris. Very spacious room with a large bathroom. Hotel staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. Hotel is an easy walk to The Arch and within walking distance of The Effiel Tower, it is also just around the corner from one of the most typical Parisian streets, Rue Lauriston. On Rue Lauriston you will find the most original restrauants in Paris, Schum, which only serves traditional French food at ridiculously low prices.

    « Lovely stay »

Long weekend in Paris - checkin was easy & quick - nice clean room - quiet area - staff friendly . Didn't have breakfast bottom of the street nice bakery. Little store next door which is handy. Metro 10/15min walk

    « Good hotel for sight-seeing »

My husband and I spent a week at this hotel earlier this month. It was in a very convenient location. We walked easily to the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysee. For further sights we took the Metro which was located maybe a block away from the hotel. Our room was small but very clean with a newly renovated bathroom. The hotel breakfast was excellent - pastries, yogurt, bread, cheese and eggs and sausage - something for everyone. Very good coffee too.

    « Happy Surprise--A Real Find! »

My husband and I stayed here for five nights and found it a very pleasant, well-run small hotel. We chose it for its location--close to the University of Paris Dauphine. It's not in the main tourist area, but the neighborhood is interesting and has plenty going on, particularly around Place Victor Hugo (where the metro is). The rooms are small, as others have noted, but given the high cost of hotels in the city, this one is a real find. The hotel is well maintained, very clean; the staff are helpful and friendly; the breakfast is excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here on my next trip to Paris.

« Good location, good service, comfortable hotel »

Nice place to stay in Paris - close to Arc de Triomphe and sightseeing, but on a quiet street. Easy walking to the Arc, Metro stops, bus stops; a bit further but still very walkable to Eiffel Tower area and Seine River. Very tiny elevator, so you'll make more trips if you have big bags. Room was clean and comfortable.

« Good Value Hotel in Nice Neighbourhood »

We booked this hotel as it was excellent value. Our room was compact but comfortable and clean. The neighbourhood gives a good flavour of Paris and there are plenty of nice places to eat nearby. Even though the room was compact, we were generally happy with it. Just a couple of negatives - the pillows are square shaped which makes them not that practical or comfortable. The bed is large enough for normal shaped pillows, so not sure why they have square ones. Also the only toiletries provided are a hand wash in a dispenser. It was ok for washing hands but not soapy enough to use as a shower gel. These are only minor points and the rooms are definitely worth the price we paid. One negative experience was that, when waiting in the lobby a good while for the lift (which is small and just has enough room for 2 people without luggage), it finally arrived with a member of housekeeping staff in it. I assumed she would see the queue and get out and let paying guests use it, but no. We couldn't get in the lift with her so we ended up taking the stairs, whilst she went up to our floor in the lift. Not ideal at all. If you're going to rely on such a small lift, then surely guests should have priority over its use. All in all a decent hotel, just without a few frills you would usually find at a 4 star. Then again, the room was very good value, so definitely worth it if you get a good deal as we did.

« Rooms are worn out »

Elevator works when it feel like it... Room are worn out and small curtains dont close all the way , no shampoo internet s super slow just below average stay wont go back. Nice thing is close to place victor hugo and a walking distance to trocadero.

« Great location and good value »

Stayed here with two friends for one night and we thought it was great. Quiet location but great local bars and restaurants very close as well as a brilliant Boulangerie. Also, only a five minute walk to the metro and therefore really quick to get to all the main sites including Eiffel Tower and L'Arc de Triomphe. Fairly basic but has what you need if you're going to be out and about most of the time and it is super clean. Staff were great, they allowed us to check in a little early and answered all queries very helpfully.

    « Comfortable Hotel »

We were part of a tour and this was the hotel we were assigned. North Americans will need to understand that they are in Europe and not everything is like it is in North America. The room is a little smaller than you may be used to. The elevators are very small - one is about the size of a telephone booth. The hotel is very clean and the service very good. The breakfast in the morning is better than most. As well, the location was convenient. Just a few blocks from the Champs-Elysees and steps away from a metro station. Tip: remember you are in France - so there were only a handful of English television channels. You may need to rely on your tablet or laptop for Netflix. The wifi was very good as well.

« Value, Clean, Service, location to Eiffel Tower and Arc De Triomphe »

Stayed here a night before I flew out the next afternoon from CDG. Btw Shuttle to airport €26, good value but make sure you book it at least an hour more than needed. Good wifi, very friendly service, decent sized rooms with comfortable beds with large flat screens especially for Europe! Decent pub at the end of the street and a great bakery for outstanding croissants, macarons and pastries for your mornings! My reco is to skip the breakfast and hit the boulangerie! I also hit the Eiffel Tower a short 12min walk to check it out. L'Arc De Triomphe is less than 10 min away. check out Churchill's Pub near the Arc De Triomphe for a well deserved beer! I want to highlight the friendliness of the front desk and others my entire stay. The lady offered me a water or something as I waited for my shuttle! Really nice!

    « Good hotel »

We were on first holiday in Paris and our friends helped booked in this hotel. It is a small one but clean and tidy. The location is good where we can walk to the Triumph of Arch in some minutes. One of the staff is not very friendly but overall the hotel is good

« Very comfortable and close to the Champs-Élysées »

Decent size room with en-suite shower. Superb view of Paris from the room. The only negative about the hotel is the size of the lift. The hotel is at a walking distance of the Champs-Élysées which is an added bonus.

    « Decent hotel »

Overall nice hotel, the rooms are fine, not too spacious though. We had tiles on the floor in the room (I am more used to carpets), that is the only thing that I slightly disliked. Th rest is good - perfect location, quite sleep, nice breakfast, friendly staff

« Stay at the hotel »

The stay was nice. The staff was kind and nice. We asked for soy milk at breakfast and got one bottle when we got there. Though the second one had to buy on our own. The lift is abit small but ok. The location is very close to arch de triumph. And a short walk to eiffel tower. All in All we liked it and would definately come back again

    « Amazing hotel »

This hotel was great. It was close the Eiffel Tower as well as les champs élysée. (Meaning an easy walking distance) several great bistros close by as well. I highly recommend it and will stay there again when I visit Paris in the near future. We really enjoyed the morning breakfast that was included with out room rate.

« Perfect location, nice hotel »

This hotel was in the perfect spot for our girls trip to Paris, walk about 15 minutes in one direction to the Eiffel Tower or in the other to the Arc de Triomphe. The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were very comfortable. I would stay there again, if I ever am lucky enough to return to Paris.

« Great location on the west side of Paris »

This location is quite convenient for the west side of Paris: a few steps away from Metro Victor Hugo and an easy walk to 'Arc de Triomphe' or 'the Trocadero' overlooking the Eiffel tower. Room size is pretty good for Paris compared to other hotels we stayed at in the past. Our room on the 7th floor was very quiet and we certainly enjoyed a good night sleep. To our surprise, we even had a small patio that we were not expecting. The view was onto a large water reservoir, something we never imagined when we are at the street level. My mom was staying in another room which had a very different shape and layout. I am guessing that rooms come in different shape and size. Breakfast buffet was very diverse and we certainly enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice. A very enjoyable stay overall.

« Much Better than expected..... Great staff »

Travel agency booked this hotel for us and I wasn't so sure on the district/arr. but as it turned out this was a great base with some special staff and very good quality of decor The night manager / Emmett was a true super hero and helped me a number of times, felt like I had a friend in the city, really rare but much appreciated. We ate at Le Stella one night just round the corner - very good authentic Lyon cuisine and local clientele. Cocktails at the bar in the Peninsula up the Rue Kleber were a nice change of scene. The other bars on Rue Kleber worth a try......wouldn't bother hunting down the Sir Winston which is in the Arr. and appears in some guides though....

« Great hotel for Paris Marathon »

Booked this hotel for one night in order to do the Paris Marathon. Excellent location for those doing the marathon. It is about 5 min walk from both the start and the finish. The hotel made a room available for those who were leaving Paris after the marathon so that they could have a shower - even provided towel at no charge. One other hotel quoted me €89 for such a service! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris for the marathon. It is also a 3 minute walk from the victor hugo metro. Those working at reception [I spoke with 3 different people during the stay] were all really helpful and friendly.

« Great location, wonderful staff. »

Great location, small room but didn't matter to me since I wasn't in Paris to hang out in my hotel room! Very short walk to the arc de triomphe and the shopping and restaurants on Champs-Élysées. As it was my first stay in Paris I was surprised at how easy it is to spend a day walking from this location to many of the main tourist attractions. The breakfast was surprisingly very over priced in my opinion and I would recommend a nice local cafe or something instead. Staff were wonderful and friendly. Great quality for price and would recommend of looking for a nice basic hotel for visiting and travelling around the city :)

    « Just okay »

Not available for check-in until 5:30pm. The room was dark red, dated and very small. Toilet was big (almost same size as the room) but without ventilation. Rooms are all in different sizes, be prepared to pay same rate but completely different experience. Good luck!

« Good location, close to underground »

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Samira at the reception was really helpful and very pleasant and the reason I gave a 5. She also recommended Resturant Victor which was excellent. Hotel is in a good location close to the underground, good restaurants and tourist attractions.

« A perfect location to explore the city »

The hotel was clean and withing a walking distance to all touristic attractions, and metro stations. The room was not very big, but we did not expect a big room since we were focused on the location . We did not use any of the hotel facilities, because we were out all day. The staff were courteous and accomodating. We checked in early because our flight arrived early, so we were given the room before 12.00 noon. Regular check in was at 2.00pm.

    « Meh. Just okay. »

The rooms are very small. The room decor is old and cheap looking. Our room faced an alleyway where an alarm beeps loudly every 23 seconds, this went on for a whole week. . It was impossible to sleep without ear plugs. The staff are apathetic and unhelpful. The complementary breakfast was the mediocre. Won't ever stay here again.

« Cheated - A hotel that is overbooked and "finds a solution" by sending you to a lower quality hotel for the same price! »

I arrived to the hotel Monday afternoon to find out that according to the receptionist, there were no more rooms available. The hotel was full. Therefore they had overbooked their hotel. I was then told that they would send me to another hotel, that was also Best Western and was 100 mts away and that given the inconvenience they would give me a better room and would include breakfast. Even though I expressed my frustration and annoyance about this matter (at the end of the day I booked their hotel not another one) they did not have another solution. So trusting their word about the quality of the new hotel I decided to just head to the other hotel: Ambassade Hotel. As I walk into the hotel it was like going back to the 70s (to say the least). Not only the quality of the hotel was a lot worse but the state of the hotel was careless. Wall paper missing, curtains hanging loose, elevators that clearly needed an update and very noisy rooms. As it was literally less than 10 hours that I had to stay in the room and it was clean and warm I just decided to take it calmly and express my opinion in the web. Honestly I feel cheated. I had to pay for a room that I did not book (and would never book) and was of worst quality almost the same price that I was paying at the Best Western (I couldn't care less about breakfast that is why I had not booked it in the first place). Is Best Western just overbooking their hotel and making a deal with Ambassade Hotel by sending customers to their hotel yet getting a lot more money from the customers vs what they would pay for that hotel? Not what I had expected from Best Western. First and last time I book a room in this hotel!

« Good Location, great service. »

Stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. No chance to use my carefully prepared schoolboy French as everytime I was welcomed in English. There was a taxi strike on at the time and the person on the desk on the evening and morning of my depature was very keen to make sure that I had all my travel plans sorted and was offering to help in any way that they could. The location is great, located in a quiet side street, near a few metro stations. I would certainly return here for future visits to Paris.

« Fabulous, comfortable friendly place to stay »

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The room was adequate with en-suite bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and visiting in January the room was lovely and warm. The breakfast served plenty of choice from fruit, cereal, fresh bread, hot eggs, sausage and beans, cold meats and cheeses, pancakes and maple syrup, fruit juices tea and coffee. A great way to start the day! The staff were very friendly and helpful, we pre-ordered a taxi for our return to CDG Airport but the hotel arranged a taxi for us, cancelled our pre-booked taxi and saved us 24 euros on the fare! The location was brilliant, 5 minute walk to Victor Hugo metro station and 15 minute walk to Arc de Triomphe and Champs E'lysees. We would not hesitate at staying here again and would highly recommend this hotel.

« Voila, Best Western lives up to its name »

Recently spent 5 days at Best Western, Victor Hugo. A beautiful Parisian style building with an excellent location for metro, Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. Pleasant front office staff who were always very helpful. Excellent and well furnished rooms, we had one on the 1st floor so did not have to rely on those Paris lifts that fit 1 person ! Breakfast was superb, all the fresh meats and breads, croissants and the ability to boil you own eggs. Fresh juices and good coffee made a perfect start to the day. Highly recommended if you want a central location within walking distance to Av. des Champs-Élysées and do not want to pay too much for your accomodation.

    « Good location »

Stayed at the Best Western Victor Hugo Hotel for our trip. The location of the hotel was fab. 5 mins away to the Metro. 10 mins walk to Arc of Triomphe and 30mins walk to the Effiel Tower. The hotel's bed was big (ok from comfort POV) and basic facilities were on hand. Our room was on the front which was very noisy from traffics and people around. Good location, fairly easy to from the Eurostar station... Worth consider his hotel. Enjoy.

« Not overly impressed with room, consider the price »

I stayed here for a week on business. I know all hotels in Paris are expensive, but considering the cost of this hotel, I expected better from the room. It was quite small, with just a small space around the bed, and a very small desk area. The windows were also small, and the lights where a low wattage, so I found the room very dark in the evening. I also felt the decor was a bit dated, although other people may like this. The size of the bathroom was acceptable, and the shower was ok. Despite the small size of the room it was kept clean, and I did have a comfortable bed. Another gripe was the internet service, which was so slow as to be practically non-existent. Breakfast was standard for Continental Europe, and this was ok. Staff serving the breakfast where quite friendly. Not a bad hotel, but be prepared for a small room if you stay here.

    « A disappointment »

I have stayed here several times over the years and found this hotel very satisfactory. In many respects it still is. It is clean; the beds are comfortable; it is quiet but well located near metro stations and the Arc. The breakfast is fine and the breakfast staff helpful. The lifts are typically French - small and optimistic about how many could ever get in! For Paris, it is well priced for the location. The big disappointment was the front desk. We had paid well in advance via our travel company; but when we came to leave by some glitch they tried to slap on a massive surcharge for facilities we had already paid. Everyone makes mistakes, but it was the way this was handled that grated. The clerk was aggressive and nasty, and we had to scrabble through our luggage to find the invoice to prove our point. No apology was forth coming for the error. This was not down to a language problem as we have very fluent French. As we were not private bookings but came via a company which deals with this hotel frequently it seemed unnecessarily hostile. Not sure I will return on my next trip to Paris.

« Clean and functional, good location »

I stayed on business, and therefore didn't spend a great deal of time in the hotel. However, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and breakfast was good. The location is excellent, very close to Place Victor Hugo and the Arc de Triomphe. Metro stations aren't too far away. I would stay here again next time I am in Paris.

    « A Nice Hotel! »

We stayed at this hotel during our stay in Paris and it was a great decision to stay there. Not only were we in a great shopping area, but the restaurants were great too, not to mention the celeb spottings. The room we stayed in was quite nice and a decent size. The bathroom was big as well. We had everything we needed. My husband ate the continental breakfast and found it a good deal for the cost. Would stay there again.

    « Would return »

This hotel was a good location. The staff were very friendly and the room were clean ,and nice and it had security at the front hotel.Could not ask for more.Love it and would return and recommend to all my friends.

« Short break in Paris »

My husband and I have just spent four days visiting Paris. The Victor Hugo Hotel was wonderful. It was really town centre just about a 200 hundred yards one way, to the arc de Triumph about 300 yards from the Eiffel Tower. There are plenty of places to eat round about and the metro is really close. The hotel is comfortable with all the usual facilities and it is really worth taking the breakfast option. There was only boiled eggs available as the warm option but there is a vast variety of croissants and bread and the coffee flows freely. I would really recommend it to anyone.

« My granddaughter attends a French middle school, we brought her to Paris to raise build confidence in speaking French. »

The staff were very friendly, and were pleased to converse with granddaughter in French. They were very helpful, Olga during the day, and especially Ioan who greeted us when we returned at night. Our room was spotless, roomy, and freshly made up when we returned. It is well located, close to Arch de Triumph, Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, and subway stops. We would book this hotel again if and when we return to Paris.

« Great first time experience! »

The Best Western Victor Hugo Hotel was a grear overall experience . The rooms were cleaned daily and breakfast was included. The all you can eat breakfast would be considered a Continental breakfast in my opinion but it still did the trick. The hotel it's self has great security, someone is always at the front desk and the front doors get locked around midnight, to get in to must buzz. The view was beautiful we were facing the streets of Paris. The hotel room itself was smaller then we both expected but theres so much to see in Paris you don't spend much time in your hotel room. As for the elevators they are very small, one person with one large luggage can fit at most. The room was cozy and the staff was friendly and helpful. This location was perfect for us and if we ever return to France we would return to Best Western Victor Hugo!

    « Close to perfect »

This hotel was very close to being perfect. Perfect location (10-15 min walk to Eiffel Tower) and 5 minute walk to Champs-Elysees. Many metro stations nearby. When you get in your room, you will be surprised at the small-ness of it (all hotels in Paris are like this). But you will get used to it after a day or so. Breakfast was great. Only problem: terrible wifi. It works- but slowly. Very slowly. If Wi-Fi in your hotel is essential to you, I would recommend going elsewhere. Otherwise- GREAT!

    « Very good location »

Stayed as a couple February 2015 Breakfast was good - you could even request gluten free bread which is handy if you're a coeliac like me! Lovely choice of cheeses, hams, eggs etc. The rooms were clean, spacious and warm (which was a must in February as it was freezing outside). The location was excellent - easy walk to the tower, or the louvre. There is a metro at the end of the street too. There were several bars nearby with lovely staff and some excellent wines. The concierge was very friendly.

« Beware of Bait and Switch »

I booked this hotel by clicking on a sale price advertised on Trip Advisor - the link took me to the hotel website where I was able to book the room at the advertised price. I paid and reserved the room. A day later, I get an email canceling my reservation without any explanation! When I contact them, they state that there was an error in pricing and I cannot have that room at the "low price" advertised. I am highly disappointed that a "reputable" hotel would not honor their advertised price and it's very sketchy business behavior.

    « Great Location »

This hotel is very well situated and walking distance from Metro, Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. Rooms are small but OK. The morning breakfast was very good. We are thing of using this hotel again.

    « 3 day stop lovely »

Stayed here in a twin room with a friend for three days. It is so close to the arc de triomph and the Eiffel Tower about a 10-15 min walk to both. Breakfast was good and the rooms were fine and air con worked well. I would recommend to stay. Down the road in a quiet street is a junction and many many local restaurants here too

    « Great Location »

Great location and metro is close by, staff are friendly and accommodating and rooms are kept clean. Sure it is on the smaller size but it has everything you need. Loved that you could walk to the Eiffel Tower. Breakfast had a great variety and the coffee is fantastic!

« Amazing Spot for two nights. »

We stayed here for two nights while a flat we had for the summer nearby was being prepared. To be honest, were it not for this amazing location I would have given an average rating. Simple details that seemed off for a Best Western (and one at this cost). The opportunities for improvement: - While we had asked for a room with one bed for two what we actually received was two singles pushed together. I was a bit surprised that a BW in such a great location, and for this price, wouldn't simply have a full or queen. The bed ended up moderately uncomfortable. - The shower did not properly drain. - The free coffee in the room was a nice touch but the machine was disgustingly filthy (did not use and asked to have cleaned). - The hotel needs a bit of a touch up. Walls mainly. - Gauging at the hotel lounge bar (while not exclusive to this hotel- I have always found that a bit odd) they charged more for drinks than even the very high end restaurant next door). - Wifi was out the entire first day and night. This was ironic since the hotel's advertisement as well as virtually every sign in the place, state how it offers free, good, wifi. The AMAZING! - Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Other than the coffee maker the room was kept very clean. - The VIEW!!! We were on the top floor and could see the Tour Eiffel from our rooms. That was spectacular. It was a short walk over to it and well- spectacular. Food at the two restaurants was very good. Overall, we were comfortable in this small quaint hotel. We would come back. Some small details, mostly the bed and the shower, are fixable. Overall this is a GREAT spot to be in Paris. My one suggestion would be with service. When a service, the Wifi in this case, is not properly functioning, take the initiate to inform guests of alternate, close, locations.

« Glad to See It Is Always Nicer »

I have been staying at this hotel for over 15 years. I am happy I found it years ago and like to return. Originally I don't think it is was a Best Western, but every time I go there, it has become more modern. First of all, it is a super location. Right between two Metro stops. This summer we had the pleasure of visiting Paris during a record heat wave. We would head out each morning and had to return to our air conditioned hotel rooms each afternoon to escape the heat. Due to the super location, that was not problem. The rooms were super clean and nice. I had a single and it was a nice room. The bed was larger than a twin. The breakfast was also very nice each morning. There are several near-by places to eat at night. Also you can find a little corner super market right outside the front door if you would want to pick up some water etc.....At the end of our trip we took a taxi to the Gare La Est and it cost us between 25 and 30 Euros. I would book this hotel again.

« Average Hotel in Paris »

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times. The hotel and rooms are all kept very clean and it is in a very good location. However, it does have some flaws; (1) the WIFI is terrible to the extent you cannot use it (2) the breakfasts need some improvement (a better range is required and less tinned food) (3) there is not enough room to hang clothes properly in the wardrobes (4) re-organise the rooms so that you do not bump into the fridge when trying to get into the room(s) - more than one room suffer this problem. (5) finally try and bring some life into the bar, perhaps make sure it is properly staffed.

    « Victor Hugo - Paris »

Very clean, though a bit musty. Tough for someone with bronchial issues. But overall - Fabulous location! We walked almost everywhere, and when we didn't have time to walk, the Metro was close to the hotel.

    « Fabulous View »

Going to a wedding we wanted to say near the reception venue- this was around the corner from Pavillion Kleber; not an area we have stayed in before. Chosen due to location and price- not too far from the metro. Not the easiest of connections to other locations but still very convenient for a walk down the Champs Elysees. The room was small but we do not go to Paris to stay in the room- more than adequate, clean, nice sized bathroom with a bath; large TV which we never even got the chance to turn on; kettle AND coffee maker- saved packing ! We were on the 7th floor and had a view of the Eiffel Tour which was the best ever. No soap or shampoo so take your own unless you are happy to use the "all in one" in the bath; a bath with a shower over.We did not make it to breakfast as meeting friends etc . Was quiet so good sleep quality. It was boiling hot in the room when we arrived so all rads were turned off and then it was fine and we could sleep with the windows open. Would stay again.
