    « Excellent service »

My family really enjoyed our stay in Best Western Chinatown. This hotel has excellent service, starting from the front desk staff, Phyu Phyu, and the dining crew headed by the two managers Kyaw and Aung. They have mastered my kids' favorite dishes and serve us with absolute care! They also placed us in rooms big enough for our needs. Thank you Best Western Chinatown!

    « Perfect location »

Lovely and comfortable room. Free water and peach juice everyday in the lobby which was a nice touch. The location was very convenient and easy to walk to night markets with plenty of foods and things to buy and see. The staffs were very friendly and helpful and help us to bargain with a taxi driver. However the hotel must be near a temple or something because we can hear people chanting all day long which was quite hard to sleep at night.

    « Great stay. »

We had Exec rooms on a high floor facing the street and with a view of the Pagoda in the distance. It's true that t here is quite a bit of traffic noise, but no enough to bother any of the four of us. It's likely the rooms on the other side may be quieter. The breakfast was great with lots of variety and pretty decent bread and coffee. Staff were well trained and helpful, especially a young chap at the front door. Ask for the hotel address to be written in Burmese for the cab drivers, and they will write it on a card with translations for the major attractions - very useful. The location is close to the open-air bbq street stalls around 19th St. There is also a great little bar there with cheap mixed drinks and pretty decent food (can't remember the name, but it's easy to spot). Easy walk to markets and colonial area, picked up the 2014 LP guide to Myanmar for 8000 kyat on the way! We ate in the hotel first night, but there is better outside although, apart from the bbq food, it's not all that easy to find - the popular tourist restaurants definitely require bookings. Interesting street life all around. We all enjoyed our stay here.

    « Amazing service »

Lovely room and amazing service - I left my speaker in a room and the team very kindly found it and delivered it to a friend's hotel. Thanks again for your help! I would recommend staying here if ever in Yangon.

« Excellent location of superb hotel »

Nice lobby with powerful aircon. Welcome drink, check in with payment in cash in US dollars. Upgraded room for free. Room at the 8th floor with no Shwedagon Pagoda view but very quiet. That what we appreciated the most after a long flight from Vienna-Doha-Bangkok-Yangon. Right in the center of downtown, 100 meters from 19th Street - bars, night market. Breakfast very good, excellent choice of local products. Very posh restaurant. Happy with the hotel overall and I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. If I´m back in Yangon I know where I will stay. Excellent value for money. Attentive and professional staff.

« Very nice stay at Best Western Chinatown Hotel. »

My wife and me were very pleased to find a very nice room in this hotel. It as a very nice bath that fits two people! A little disadvantage was that it took a lot of time to fill it. The air condition does not switch of after you have left the room, so you enjoy a very nice temperature if you return.

    « Excellent stay »

Our room overlooked the Shwadagon pagoda with lovely arrangements, staff were friendly, breakfast wholesome with lot of choices. Very near to the Pagoda. Overall an excellent experience. Will definitely recomemd to others.

« Great location, but traffic noise »

Beware the reception desk will try to put you in a windowless, subterranean room no matter if you asked for an upper floor or not. I insisted I have upper floor. Given #808. Still unbelievable traffic noise. A/c in room worked fine. They need to replace single pane windows. Halls, elevator and lobby were sweltering. Breakfast was included...but inedible. Location was best feature...walked to waterfront, boyoke market and around downtown. Took 90 minutes to drive to airport due to miserable traffic at 8p.

« Great location but very loud! »

So, first of all I was super delighted to have an upgrade to an Executive Room (I booked a Deluxe Double); this was awesome. The room itself will be a delight to anyone who loves gold and yellow coloured decor though I found it all to be a bit much! That being said, the beds were SUPER comfy and the room itself was nice and cozy. HOWEVER, despite being a chain hotel, the windows are still only single paned glass so you can hear ALL the honking AND the loud music outside at all hours of the day. The location is fantastic for walking around and exploring the city (the night market is right outside!) but if you're sensitive to noise at night OR as early as 6:30am, this might not be the place for you! If you do stay here, I'd suggest asking to have a room in the back for potentially a quieter stay, but you won't get the view of Shwedagon Pagoda. Oh, and BRING AMERICAN MONEY to pay for your room AND any meals you have in the hotel.

    4
    « Convenient location »

The bellboys, restaurant and housekeeping staff were friendly. The reception staff in the evening were not very friendly or helpful. The security guard on our first day had no idea where Kadwagyi Lake was, hence we were dropped off by the taxi driver at the wrong location. After that, we sourced our own taxis. The executive room had a good view of Shwedagon pagoda. The location was good, though if you are a light sleeper you definitely won't want to stay here, as the traffic is very loud and seems to last all day and night. The breakfast buffet had great choices. Overall, it was a good hotel.

« Clean, efficient, great location »

Really happy with this choice in Yangon - far more sensible price compared to competitors. - great location in Chinatown - clean, modern rooms with excellent AC - good breakfast - super friendly and helpful staff Even if you wouldn't stay in a Best Western elsewhere, I actually rate this one quite highly!

    4
    « Good budget hotel »

The Best Western Chinatown is centrally located and is within walking distance of the amazing Bogyoke market. Good but small rooms, decent free breakfast buffet. Free and reliable internet. I was there on a holiday weekend, and at least for that weekend the hotel restaurant offered a single fixed choice option for other meals. Cheap cab ride to the airport, cost me 8000 kyat (~$8.00 US). Get the porters to negotiate the cab fare with the cab driver before you leave

« Great location, The place to stey in Yangon »

We had 5 nights in a mini-suite for an incredibly great price! The location is great, walked to town center, railway station and all over the Colonial Yangon. The hotel has been recently renovated, the staff if helpful, breakfast has great choices... could not fault it if we tried! During the day the road noise is evident, but this dies down by 10 pm. The streets in this area are full of life, stalls, small eateries. Central Yangon has more flashy hotels, but not a cafe in sight, just large brand shops. A 15 km taxi ride from the airport costs US$8

    « BW - my second H?me »

BW always my choice of stay when i am on Myanmar mission. The hotel staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. I always feel BW is my second home. Special thanks to Front Office Staff (lovely ladies) and FB Managers- Kyaw Swar Oo and Aung Than Zaw and the crews (Thet Zaw Tun, Moe Moe,Thin Thin Khaing, Min Min Thant and the rest) for making my wonderful day and putting an efforts in remembering my name, room number and my choice of food and taste (less oil, salty, sugar, onion and garlic free)...

« Depends on what you are looking for. »

We were on a long trip and needed a place to crash for a few days. We stayed here twice. Once for two nights and once for three nights. I wouldn't call this a bargain hotel, but you get what you pay for in Yangon these days. I've been going to Yangon since 2008 and have been part of the change in 2012. This hotel isn't in the best part of town, but it was what we needed. We needed a clean room, with a great air conditioner, large bath tub, shower stall, clean hot water on demand, and a staff that did not disturb you. If you stay here, stay on the upper floors as far away from the street as you can. We had room 1208 both times, and I requested it because the AC got very cold, which is what I wanted. After being out and about in the country, we needed quiet, cool, rest, and to be left alone for a few days. Each room has a small fridge, hot pot, and large flat screen TV. A quick trip to the grocery store meant we didn't have to leave the room for days and could recuperate from our other travel. So if you want a place to crash that's clean, cool, and has comfortable beds. This is a great place. We didn't do any local site seeing around the hotel, so I can't say anything about that. I've stayed here more than once, and they remember me each year. Probably because I'm the crazy guy who goes into the room and doesn't come out for 48 hours or more.

    « Too nosiy »

Went with a bunch of friends and although the hotel is nice it is just too noisy as it is situated on a corner where the buses and cars seem to thing blowing their horns are more effective than the traffic lights. We were also let down by reception not being able to relay messages (even not being able to pass on tickets and confirmation from our tour operator!). Food on the other hand especially breakfast was quite good. Next time I would find a quieter location!

    3
« Good grief, the noise! »

I booked BW Chinatown with my eyes wide open - we'd read the reviews and were well aware to ask for a room away from the main road that would (hopefully) be quieter. After we were booked, I sent an email asking for a quieter room but did not get a reply. We arrived in the afternoon and were upgraded - great. We got up to the room and oh boy, what a racket from the busy main road out front with the constant honking. I called Reception to ask if it would be possible for a change in room - they said they would try and call back. After 20 minutes with no reply, I decided we would give it a chance that night. Yes, the traffic does get better after about 9pm, but you will still hear honking into the night (just less) and it does start early too. Double glazing would be wonderful. If you are a light sleeper, look for a hotel elsewhere off the main road. The water pressure in the room was awful too. The sink flow was sputtering in various directions. The shower's warm and cold water was patchy. Meals at the hotel were good. Breakfast had a good variety of cooked items and breads. There were also a few Asian and one Burmese item (e.g. mohinga fish soup). A curry at dinner was very tasty and fresh (though there were many flying bugs invading our table). The location is convenient to check out the night market and bustling Chinatown. I would look elsewhere for a more peaceful yet well located sleep the next time I'm in Yangon.

« Oasis amid the Chaos »

We have just spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Everything was perfect and I'm at a loss with some of the negative comments I have read. OK , it has a small lobby , no gym or pool , and sometimes the lift can be a little slow especially at breakfast time so if you need all that than best go somewhere else and pay 2-3 times as much. The value of the rooms and food for the quality provided is great. ROOMS - Basic rooms are small so it is well worth paying a little extra and go for the Executive rooms. They are a good size with everything you need. All amenities are provided icluding iron , safe etc and there was always plenty of hot water for showering in the morning. DINING - The buffet breakfast has plenty to choose from , both savory and sweet , and it certainly sets you up for the day. We ate in the hotel dining room every night because the food was so good ( we ate mainly Asian dishes ). The staff were all great and VERY attentive!!. There is a Happy Hour? from 3.00 - 11.00pm every day with drinks at 30% off and overall the cost of the food and drinks was extremely good. LOCATION - It was just what we wanted being in Chinatown amongst all the character and chaos of downtown Yangon. Taxis were always available out front of the hotel or nearby. There is some street noise to be heard in the rooms but it is not so loud that you can't get a good night's sleep. The traffic noise eases off a lot after about 9.00pm. We couldn't fault the Best Western and if we hopefully come back to Yangon again this is where we will be staying. Ten out of Ten!! If you don't like the hustle and bustle of downtown areas which are usually very busy and grimey than this may not suit you. Seasoned travellers who enjoy Asian culture will just love it.

« Outstanding Place to Stay in Yangon Chinatown »

After many trips to Yangon, I have found the best hotel in Chinatown. Best Western Chinatown has "best" in its name for a reason. The staff at the front desk are very pleasant, professional and always ready to assist you in any way you need. The staff in the lobby are also highly professional and pleasant. Aung Ko Latt makes an incredible omelet, and the wait staff are their to clear plates and make your breakfast an enjoyable time. The buffet is great. I cannot say enough about the housekeeping either. They went far beyond the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable in every way. If you need a "home away from home," check into the Best Western Chinatown!

« Hotel in the heart of city »

This hotel is located in a very busy area with lots of small shops, hawkers and traffic all around. It may seem to be a very happening place but beyond restaurants and a famous lane with street food, the area is very chaotic. Those looking for a peaceful, clean and orderly location should not book this hotel. The rooms are small but well appointed. Staff is extremely polite and friendly. As with many Best Western properties, the hotel is built in a small area restricting an adequate reception and lobby space. There is no swimming pool in this hotel.

« A new hotel in the heart of historic Rangoon »

If looking for a comfortable stay in a quality hotel, then look no further. Located in old Chinatown the BW features excellent features, excellent service, excellent staff and excellent meals. It is new but does not enjoy a very large footprint, but has 12 floors and unfortunately only one lift which is a bit of a concern when the hotel is busy, because of the delays that result. Also it can be quite noisy because it fronts Anawratha Road which carries a lot of heavy traffic which goes on all hours, but front rooms enjoy a great city view across to Shwedagon Pagoda.

« Nice pancakes for breakfast! »

Located in the old part of Yangon this hotel presents similar standards to others in the BW chain - no surprises. The breakfast was very good with sufficient variety to cater for all tastes. The amenities were as expected and the staff friendly and helpful. assisting with an onward hotel booking.

« Premium Rooms and fittings and super breakfast »

We just stayed the one night here but were really impressed with the hotel. The bedroom was excellent; spacious and comfortable with a tasteful decor and a premium feel to all the furniture and room features. The bathroom had a great selection of complimentary toiletries. Also, loved the big window from the bathroom to the bedroom that could be blocked off with an automatic descending blind. The breakfast selection was just superb; huge choice and nicely cooked, the best I have experienced. As we found with all the hotels we stayed at in Myanmar, all the staff were super friendly and helpful and English was spoken well. There is no pool/gym etc provided at this hotel.

« Good location near Chinatown; strong AC »

We are the type of couple that needs some space, privacy and A/C. Best Western met our expectations and more. Staff was kind and remembered us (we started and ended our Myanmar trip here). Breakfast had a lot of choices (mostly Asian). Try the BBQ skewers on 19th street! We ate at the unidentifiable one closest to the Best Western (with a refrigerator) on 19th street 4 times.

« Good Hotel at Good Location »

Stayed here for 7 nights on business trip from 20th to 26th October. The hotel is good mainly because of the service team who is doing a great job from Rooms Division to F&B. They are not only friendly, also very helpful and understand the need of hotel guests. Hygiene level of the hotel is also high which make my stay comfortable even though premise was small with limited facilities like gym, swimming pool and self service laundry. Breakfast served is combination of asian and continental. Limited choices for cereals but the live egg station balance it. There is also varieties of breads available. For people with braces (like myself), the congee and soup of the day absolutely safe our day! The same restaurant that serve breakfast also serve lunch and dinner (the only restaurant). The in-room dining menu offer good varieties of western food eg. burger, pizza, salad etc and Southeast Asian food eg. chicken noodle, fried vermicelli etc. There is no bar here. Hotel is strategically located in downtown China Town which makes accessing to many different area especially tourist spot convenient. It may not be a good idea to walk for a short distance of 1km but taxis is always available and hotel service team will assist you to ensure reasonable fees before sending you off. In the evening, you may take a walk around hotel to explore local night market and street hawker. Though, not a good idea to try street hawker food unless you have strong stomach. The downside of this premise is the size and noise pollution. Traffic by the street is my everyday wakeup call. If you are a light sleeper, you my like to request for a room not facing the street. Overall, it is a good Best Western hotel with a great service team.

« Good Business Hotel with the Bonus of Spectacular Views »

I have now stayed in 5 different hotels in Yangon in my search for one I can call home on my routine business travel there. The previous bunch all had their pros and cons, and this is no different. Usually I stay either around Kandawgyi Lake or Sula Pagoda, depending on my schedule for the week. This time I decided to try something different, and I was drawn to Best Western Chinatown in a search for somewhere with a good breakfast, stable internet and good streetfood options for the evening. I took an Executive Room, which was on the 9th floor, largely as on the basis of the promise of a view over Shwedagon. The room itself was large, clean and well appointed. It's a new hotel, and so I expect everything will tarnish a little in time, but for the moment you can't complain. The décor is however incredibly garish and really not my taste at all. Lots of gold and wood veneers. I usually like buildings with character, and this really is not one of them. However I did know this would be the case from pictures. What makes up for this was the view from my window ? a sweeping panorama northwards with Shwedagon looming on the horizon beyond the pretty British era administrative blocks of Yangon general hospital. Without this view, I'm genuinely not sure I would stay here again as the ambience in the room otherwise is too over the top in their attempt to do celebrity-glamour-on-a-budget. One issue was that I had selected a double bed, but instead received a room with two singles pushed together. This in itself is not so much of an issue, but the problem is that there is a large protrusion in the headboard as well as all plugs being located at this central point (right behind your pillows) where the bedside table is supposed to separate the twin singles. This means I had to push the beds back apart to a twin arrangement as it's really not possible to use otherwise. For me, I really wasn't bothered and didn't even mention it to staff, but if I was on holiday as a couple it would have been a real issue. The staff were all excellently trained and as friendly as you could wish for. I'm not sure how much you can credit the hotel for this though ? I've been visiting Yangon for two and a half years now and every staff member at every place I've stayed has been really quite excellent. I live in India and travel here extensively. The difference in general level of customer service at lower and mid-range hotels is leagues apart. Breakfast was another big plus for me. It's an extensive buffet, with various hot and cold options. I would have liked a wider fruit selection in a country with so much to offer, but this is common to all hotels I've stayed at in the city. They've thought about the selection in general though, and gone further than they had to I would say. There's a nice selection of pre-brewed tea infusions for example, and I was thrilled to find koya on offer (pandan and coconut spread) alongside jams. I didn't eat in the hotel apart from that though, so I can't comment on the quality of lunch/dinner. This brings me neatly on to location. On my trips I tend to spend at least 2 or 3 evenings having dinner on my own, and I often want to do so in my room to get a little work done or put my feet up. When I stay near Sula Pagoda I find that 80% of streetfood options (that can pack for you) in the area are closed come dinner time, and a lot of the time I'm not in the mood to sit on my own in a restaurant. Chinatown is different, it's more or less the streetfood centre of town. Immediately in front of the hotel is a line of places offering Burmese-style dishes. These are oily as is the standard nowadays, but there is a good range and it's all tasty. Just around the corner is of course 19th street. At the southern end of this is the core of the Yangon BBQ scene. I won't wax on about this, as there are plenty of separate reviews for that. There are also various small bars in and around the area, and a little convenience store right next door where you can buy beers. If you are a tourist and interested in proximity to sights, it's quite well located, but some might want to be further to the east (near Sula) or in the quieter mid-town area to the north. You can walk to a lot of things from here, but it's quite far to the west so walking all the way to the sights in the east will result in much sweatiness for most months of the year. In summary, it's a good business hotel (internet was good and stable) and a decent tourist hotel IF you get one of the rooms with a view. There's certainly nothing wrong with the place in general, but it's just a little too shiny for me if there wasn't a nice big window to distract me.

    « 1st Class »

Stayed at this hotel during October twice, once for 4nights and then had a 3 night stay. From the Manager down to the housecleaning staff, nothing was to much trouble. Congratulations to all staff on a job well done, and keep giving your guests those smiles. Would recommend this hotel to anybody, and the price is great. The breakfast was enjoyable with plenty of choices. Hope to see you all sometime in the future.

« Very very friendly staff »

We were received very warmly and friendly. The room service and the restaurant service have been very attentive, the rooms clean and the location in the middle of all the sightseeing spots. Especially Maung Maung Lwin, the doorboy, was very kind and treated us more like family members than guests. He helped us with our lugage and served some fresh juice and water and let us cool down at the lobby during the day. He did a great job, so much better than the staff in orher hotels, really good service - thank you very much!!

    « Best hotel experience! »

We checked in in this hotel for a conference in novotel. This hotel was the perfect place because: 1.) its in the chinatown so when you want cheap but good quality food you can just go down your hotel and eat outside. 2.) fast internet service 3.) good food during breakfast 4.) good hotel service 5.) its in a busy street so getting transportation was not a problem at all. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends who are going to visit myanmar!

« STAYED HERE FOR 14 NIGHTS & VERY IMPRESSED WITH FRIENDLY STAFF »

Arrived at BEST WESTERN Chinatown Hotel on 22/06/16 from Sydney / Australia via Kuala Lumpur for 14 nights until 06/07/16. On my arrival around 11am I'm immediately made welcome by the reception staff, offered an up-grade & happy to except Room 806 [Executive Room] on level 8. The room is spacious with all the mod cons & modern large bathroom, good views from my room window, TV + tea & coffee facilities, comfortable large bed & excellent Air-Conditioning System, free WiFi with excellent fast connection & a Safe for your personal valuables. Room cleaned daily by friendly staff & Laundry service available if required. Breakfast was excellent in the dining area named Eastern Orchid Cafe Dining on level 4. All staff were extremely helpful with reception staff happy to suggest a confident local driver & tour guide for my 14 night stay. The hotel is in a very convenient location where all the action is literally outside the main entrance, many local shops within walking distance with cafes & restaurants more popular on 19th Street. Complementary soft drinks were offered to guests each time you re-entered the hotel in the lobby area. Paid USD $20.00 one way for my transfer from the airport to the hotel arranged through management via email. In total paid USD $941.92 for my entire stay for 14 nights including Breakfast [Credit Card Payment facilities available if requested. There are many tourist attractions within walking distance from the hotel. I recommend this hotel for all ages to stay & room rates are reasonably priced. Only one small negative comment was the very slow & small lift during busy times i.e guests using the Lifts for breakfast. I don't think this hotel would be suitable for guests with special needs especially wheelchair use due to the steps leading up towards the Lift and cramped inside for steering a wheelchair. I wish to thank all the staff & management at the hotel in making me so welcome during my 14 night stay & being so helpful & hoping to re-visit sometime in the future. Hotel also offers Foreign Currency Exchange offering reasonable exchange rates for overseas visitors. Yangon International Airport is approximately 20 km away.

« Great Hotel in great location »

A quality hotel in great position in downtown Yangon. Good value with clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was excellent providing a wide variety of local and western options. Friendly and helpful staff, big thanks to Thomas who gave us some great information

    « Nice hotel »

A Nice hotel in chinatown. We booked superior rooms but have been upgraded ! Which was very nice. The rooms were really big with a nice view of the pagoda, clean and the beds were really good. The breakfast was good and tasty with great choice. The staff were really nice, polite and really hepful. The street is really noisy which could be a problem if you're sensitive...which wasn't our case. I would recommend this hotel as i think it' s a really good hotel with good price.

« Reasonable price for good service in downtown Yangon »

Great friendly reception staff that welcomed us at checkin. Our room was nice but unfortunately had a problem so we were upgraded to a better room, unfortunately that one had a bit of a problem to and were moved again.. and then again.. finally we were ok and the room was great, at the front with a view of the golden pagoda. Breakfast was nice with an egg, pancake and waffle station, they even prepared a breakfast box for our early flight, nothing seemed to much trouble and taxis arranged by hotel seemed reasonable. Negative was that I emailed twice and never received a response. All in all a good hotel, and reasonably priced. Walking distance to many things downtown.

    4
    « Stop over »

It's what you would expect from a Best Western. Clean large rooms although we were upgraded. We stayed here on an overnight to be more down town. It take at least 30 minutes from the airport to an hour with heavy traffic. Basic breakfast. Asian and Western options.

    3
« Great value but be warned that superior rooms don't have a window »

Hotels are expensive in Yangon, and the Best Western Chinatown is a one of the most affordable for a hotel with a global brand. The location is great and you can walk to many of the tourist sites in Yangon. However, note that the back of the hotel abuts to another building and the windows have been sealed off. I first walked in, my room, I saw there was a sealed-off window and this is something I cannot accept for this grade of hotel. So I went back to the front and they upgraded me to a "Deluxe" room which was sill on the back side but was on the end and had a small window, so at least I could see outside. Breakfast choices were pretty slim. Worst part is that there is no brewed coffee, but instead a machine that dispenses Nescafe.

    « Excellent stay »

The room was clean, comfortable and perfect for our stay. The location is great and its close to the china town market and one of our favourites 19th street with all the food stables and bars. The hotel itself has one of the best breakfasts we had during our stay in Myanmar. The staff was so nice and helped us with everything. Special thanks to mister Maung Maung Lwin for helping me finding a souvenir shop and assisting us with answers to our questions!!!

« Great Location and Great Service »

I stayed here with my partner . From the check in process on the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. Laundry services were excellent . The breakfast each day was something to look forward to. We had dinner in the hotel on one night and it was very good . The hotel is right in the heart of everything. Very very good place to stay.

Location is great, room is very cosy plus nice decor. and perfect shower! Lobby very small. Breakast room is quit spacious and bright. Breakfast is ok. The hotel is at 17st. On the 19st you can find massage shops, food shops, streetfood vendors, during night time only.

    « 100% satisfied »

Considering the other hotels I have stayed in Myanmar this was the best. More surprisingly it was the worst rated out of them. They gave me a free upgrade to a better room for no reason so that always helps I guess. My room was spacious, very clean, great view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Everything was up to date (TV, bathroom, bed). The breakfast had anything I needed and was catering to the western and eastern culture. Service was great, dry cleaning quick. English was somewhat of an issue but expected. The location is great if you want to see chinatown for whatever reason. It is nasty :)

« A clean oasis amongst a desert of filths of Yangon »

Most, if not all the hotels in Myanmar, including Yangon are overpriced for what they are... If you compare with its neighbouring countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia. We spent two nights here before heading to Bagan. The staff at Best Western were great and the boys at the concierge were keen to show my partner how to put on a longhi. They don't speak much English but very nice and pleasant. There is a market street next to the hotel, which smell really bad... Of course this is not the hotel's problem but I was filled with joy to be back in this basic three stars hotel after sightseeing Yangon a whole day. This is a city which has a long way to go with things as basic as hygiene. There were heaps of rubbish uncollected not far away from the hotel. It's really not nice to be passing by... On the first night, the lady at the reception directed us to a "restaurant street" two blocks away from the hotel. Well, it is a hawker street full of people eating on the street with rubbish bins right next to you. We ate at the hotel restaurant on the second evening. The price was about the same as the semi-street food from previous night. They would try to sell you the local Myanmar wine but I would pass on it if I were you. One thing though, the shower was designed in such a way that the glass door doesn't hold water in so the bathroom floor is always wet!

« THREE NIGHT STAY IN BUSTLING YANGON! »

Recently flew for a three night break in Yangon flying with Bangkok Airways from Chiang Mai with my girlfriend.Daytime flights on time so nice and straightforward. Landed at the brand new & impressive Yangon International Airport & getting through Immigration was a breeze.Fixed price of US$8 for 30-40 minutes drive to hotel in Chinatown depending on the traffic. Pleasant reception staff and fairly quick check in.Paid extra for a Junior Suite but worth the money for the extra space and large bathroom with Shwedagon Pagoda view.Room comfortable and clean with large bed and international tv channels. Breakfast was pleasant served on 4th floor with an excellent variety of food on offer.Staff are very pleasant and a special mention to the restaurant manager who remembered me from my last visit who is very polite & smartly dressed who I always have a nice chat with & keeps an eye on restaurant proceedings. The location of the hotel is excellent in the middle of Chinatown-a 10 minute taxi to Shwedagon Pagoda costing no more than 2000 kyat & a 10-15 minute walk to Sule Pagoda & Scotts/Bogyoke Market though hailing a taxi might be worth it as it is a very hot and humid city. Being based in Chinatown it can get quite noisy in the room but for me the noise and environment added to the atmosphere of the area. Return to airport straightforward though make sure you change your Myanmar Kyat money before Immigration as there are no money changing facilities after. Overall an excellent hotel with good location with pleasant staff in the heart of the city.Thank you.

    « Clean, comfortable, cool. »

This was the first hotel I stayed in while in Myanmar, having read lots of things about hotels having small rooms and so I wasn't expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised. My room was huge and had a view (albeit distant) of the pagoda. It was clean, it was comfortable, it had good ac and a nice hot shower (you have to run the water for a while). Yes, it's a little noisy (I was on the 8th floor) with the traffic at the junction below but it certainly didn't stop me getting a good night's sleep. The staff were nice and the breakfast was a good mixed buffet. Location is right in china town beside the night markets and stalls. It's a bit of a walk to downtown but I did it no problem. Really nice place.

« Perfect location for exploring the city »

I stayed in this hotel for two nights after first arriving in Yangon. The hotel is around a 40 min taxi ride from the airport and costs around 8,000 MMK. The hotel is located in the hustle and bustle of Chinatown and is a 30 min walk from Shwedagon Pagoda and about the same walking distance to the Strand area. There are lots of street food stalls in and around the hotels locality - where many tourists as well as locals were eating. The hotel itself is very welcoming with friendly and helpful staff. Although the rooms are small, the beds are extremely comfortable which helped get over our jet-lag. We had a room on the 8th floor. The room was quiet and we were not disturbed by outside noise. Breakfast was plentiful with a great selection on offer to suit both western and eastern tastes. There were many restaurants in close proximity (if street food isn't your thing) to the hotel. We did not sample the hotel restaurant - however looking at prices it did seem a little expensive for what was on offer.

« Experience china town in Yangon »

A nondescript hotel at first glance right at the heart of Chinatown . Hassle free check in . Rooms are super clean and spacious but the deluxe ones are rather small . Room price is very good . Prompt room service and BF is very good . Super friendly staff . A great first hand experience of the city right outside the hotel from 5 am a bustling bazaar opens up selling vegetables , meat , local foods , electronics , clothes , lots more , a super interesting bazaar . In the evening a block away from the hotel one can try the endless barbecue stalls & restaurants , beer bars , massage , etc , on 19 th street Chinatown . Really a good hotel location to experience Yangon at its best . A must stay hotel in Chinatown , Yangon .

« Centrally located hotel that's value for money »

Stayed here for 3 nights. Located near 17th street within the Chinatown area, the hotel is a 15 min stroll to Saint Mary's church and Scott Market. A variety of dishes were offered for breakfast, shower was good. Only thing to note is that the hotel is along the main road and the traffic noise might affect some rooms.

    « 5 Star. »

Best hotel i have stayed in a long time, you cant fault this place. Arrived early and got free room upgrade, reception staff, concierge and bell boys very friendly, courteous and helpful. Rooms have good air-con and bathrooms with large wide screen t.v., clean towels every day and room service but the beds are the best and most comfortable rest i have had in an Asian hotel ! Breakfast is very good with eggs made to order, large selection of cereals, Asian and western food, fresh fruits and cakes, lovely pastries. Staff at breakfast very efficient and friendly. For the money you pay you wont get better a truly 5 star service, like i said its the staff that make this place a total pleasure. One final point if you can tip the bell boys in reception it is always appreciated including the staff that clean your room. Bell boys will arrange you taxis around the city, be assured they will get you a good rate and negotiate for you. Stay here if you want to explore Chinatown.

« Good location and pleasant »

Though the furnishing appears overdone and designed by an old aunt. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are cordial. The food is good! Room rent is reasonable. What more you can ask for? The only complain I had was my room was designed as a connection to another room with a door in between and I could hear all their Skype conversation. Check out for that particular room in case you want privacy.

« Reliable place in Yangon »

It's centrally located and when I checked-in, i got an upgrade to a bigger room. The room is pretty small and almost no space to open your luggage. But it's super clean and super comfortable. The window is very small too. But apart from that, everything is good. Breakfast is plenty, wifi works and friendly staff.

    « Food, room, people »

Worth it's money. We got a good deal, booking the room. The noise is barely heard from the streets during the week days, but starting from Friday evening till Sunday at around 8 pm is getting louder. (lots of travelers mentioned noise at night from the streets due to not good sound control windows). We were tired enough to fell asleep quickly, but noise is definitely not what you want to hear at night. Room is small, but clean, and in Yangon you actually want to visit around and not stay in the hotel, so comfy bed and shower is what you want at the end of the long day. Breakfast has traditional local dishes with the suggestions "must try" or explanation of the dish, that helps you to learn more about the country and its taste.

« ok place that is look a little tired. »

We were in Yangon for a 1 night layover and this place seemed reasonable priced. This is in downtown Yangon and it is about 1 hour away from the airport most of the time. It doesn't look like much when you pull up to it. Walk into the lobby and it looks ok if a bit tired. The location is in Chinatown which for us made no difference as we did not get a chance to walk around much as it was raining the day we were there. You are greeted by friendly staff that speak english well enough. It is very strange that there are about 10 steps to get up to the elevator. Not sure why the elevator would not come down to lobby level. The rooms we got were very cozy, to be generous. There is barely enough room for two twin beds a small desk and two chairs. One of the chairs blocks access to the tiny closet that juts into the room. On the plus side there is a safe for keep your valuables. One of our rooms had a seriously stupid and potentially dangerous layout. There is a bout a 3" cutout to the entrance to the bathroom that is in the room. Since the rooms is so small when you walk by the bed you need to be careful not to trip on that hole. Not sure why they would do that. Very stupid. I tripped on it once and almost twisted my ankle a second time. The bathroom was generously sized compared to the room. There is plenty of hot water and the shower was rather nice with a waterfall shower head and hand held shower nozzle as an option. As with all of Yangon the water is not potable, but they provided enough bottled water to brush your teeth and make some tea or coffee. There is free wifi that worked well enough. There is also a flat screen TV with a few channels, though they all looked pretty bad. The linens were clean and the AC worked really well. We had a window that overlooked some other buildings and you could make out the river. The other rooms had some plants corralled in by bars. Basically no view, but not really missed as there is not much to see. We ate lunch at the restaurant. The food was pretty good and while the prices are probably very high for the area, they were reasonable by US standards. We had food and drink for $10/person. The service was also very good. The breakfast buffet, included in our room rate, was also very good with a mix of hot food and other cold food. You could also get omelets made to order. Not being adventurous enough to sample the food out on the street it was nice to have a restaurant in the hotel. For the price we paid, about $55/night , this was a good value and under similar circumstances I would go back.

    « Good location »

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August 2016. The location of the hotel is perfect! Minutes away to circular train station (Lanmadaw) and Chinatown. Down the road, there are a few restaurants too to grab food. Receptionists were friendly with simple command of English! Helpful staffs too! Room was clean and bed was definitely comfortable. Good wifi and breakfast was a spread with different types of food being served for the past 3 days. The room service was equally good! However, the noise insulation for the room need to be improved. I stayed at level 10 but I still can hear the traffic. I can even hear my neighbor watching tv at night. It will be perfect if the hotel can invest in noise insulation window and wall partition.

« Good room but not really good restaurant »

When we arrived, they didn't have the kind of room I had booked, so they upgraded us to a room with a view of Schwegadon Pagoda. The room is a good size, but the decor is very brown, and very indian looking. The bathroom is very big, with a free standing bathtub, a shower, the toilets and a nice modern sink. Everything is enclosed in glass walls. It's clean, but I guess with the humidity of the climate, you can see rust in a few places. It might not been helped. We tried the restaurant for dinner. The food was not very good (specially the desserts) and the staff probably wants to do well but they are always coming to your table and it becomes annoying. They probably don't know better. I think their training is probably not very good. Is this Best Western's executives' fault? We asked for a Ricard for aperitif, they didn't know how to serve it. I asked for water to add to it, they brought water and filled up my water glass... it's hard to tell them that they do it the wrong way... They pored the beer too hard in the glass and half of the glass was foamy... The prices are not cheap for Asia, so I think that Best Western should do a better job in training them. It's not the people's fault, they eager to please (maybe to eager, always showing their names so we could write could comments about their performance). The people at the reception desk where very friendly and speak good english. The neighborhood is not great, it's very dirty. It's supposed to be in Chinatown, but it looks more indian than chinese. I can add that 2 days in Yangon are too much. It's better to use the second day in another place. The pollution here is horrific. If I had to come back to Yangon, I would probably be coming back to this hotel, I think that It's hard in Myanmar to find good places (except 4 or 5 stars hotels).

We had a fantastic stay. The room was clean, comfortable with a very good bed and very nice. The service was excellent. The breakfast was very good, with lots of different choices. The restaurant served good food. There is lots of noise from the street but a wonderful view to Swedagon. We were very satisfied with this hotel and would recommend this hotel. Thank you to the staff for a very good stay.

« Decent stay for decent price »

In spite of my average rating, I would rate the Best Western Chinatown Yangon as an above-average value-for-money stay for Yangon. The rooms of this property are small but come with all you need. The bed is comfortable, there is a good range of bathroom amenities, Wifi is free and there is a decent choice of channels with good reception. The people are friendly and the restaurant serves a good range of decent quality food at reasonable prices. I had to leave early which is why i cannot comment on the breakfast offering, which was included.

    « Outstanding Value »

The price of this hotel was so low and it included breakfast. It was close to my customer, so I stayed there. When I arrived, I was truly amazed. The hotel was pretty up-to-date. The room was large and the bathroom was really great. The room had a view to the north which you could see the famous structure Pagoda (I think that is what they called it). Breakfast was not just an ordinary breakfast, but a full breakfast with just about anything you could imagine. The surrounding area seemed safe, but have not gotten out much yet. The only downside of the hotel is the elevator was a little slow, but fine. Staff was super nice and always smiling. I would definitely stay here again.

« Excellente service matig probleemoplossend vermogen »

Let me start by saying that the service specifically in the restaurant is excellent, Their english is decent, they do everything right and i loved having dinner there. Unfortunately I ran into some problems in my room (the water temperature kept changing, without reason) and they were not able to come up with a proper solution. They tried fixing it first for multiple days, which did not work, after which i asked for a different room... Unfortunately it was a smoking room and i really dislike smoking. All in all: Decent food Excellent restaurant staff Poor maintenance staff/problem solving skills

    « Convenient location & great staff »

First trip to Yangon, and stayed here for 3 nights. Booked their executive room, was in room 1003, corner spacious room, but view of Shwedagon pagoda was blocked by an electric pole, and it gets a bit noisy from the morning traffic, The hotel staff which i've came across were always courteous and helpful. Buffet breakfast was a good spread and menu changes daily while i was there. I had their pastas for lunch, which turned out to be too dry. Convenient location to get to most places . There were a few misses with daily house keeping, but nothing major. There is a small convenient store right next to the hotel, with limited choices but meets the basic. There is a street of food & fruit stalls behind the building during night time. Turn left from hotel and head straight until you see the row of stalls on your left. I didn't try the food stall, but got rip off paying for the fruits. So, be prepared to bargain. Overall, would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room: spacious and confortable! The view was amazing! We could see swedagon Pagoda! Tea and coffee available. Bathroom: spacious but a little bit smelly (normal in the rainy season) with all the amenities.theres a shower and a tub. Location: right in the middle of everything! 3 steps from 19th street (restaurant street, just after the church). 5 min from swedagon Pagoda by taxi or 25 min walking. Breakfast: good breakfast, good variety of food and fresh. Staff: the best staff you can have!!!!! Very helpfull!!!! They took care of our bus tickets to Bagan and gave us very good tips for visiting yangon! Tips: if you want to visit the reclinning buddha, you can take a taxi for 5000 ks. To go to the bus station it will take 1 hour if no traffic and will cost 10 000 ks.

    « Amazing Aircon! »

For myself and my partner, the location of this hotel was perfect. Lots of the other 4/5 star hotels were up closer to the airport so you can't just walk out of your hotel for a wander around. This hotel however was smack bang in the middle of china town. Easy to catch a cab to the Shwedagon, markets, people's park etc. Room was lovely, staff are so friendly!! Food in the hotel was a little expensive ( for Burma) and quite small portions, but we ate out most of the time anyway. Best restaurants nearby are Golden Pho and Mai Thai ( You can catch a cab!) Would definitely come back here. Ps skip the museum if you're planning on visiting; much of Burmese history is still censored out, so there is nothing about the history of Myanmar. If you want to see 5 story's of buddha statues though then be my guest!

Location is very convenience. Near to market and eateries. Breakfast is delicious. Staff is polite and helpful. Taxi is readily available. Checking in and out is fast. Aircon is cool. Negative side is the lift which is slow. Another negative side is the shower room without a shower curtain causing water to splash all over the floor.

« best quality-price rate and well situated in the city »

Not very impressive from outside, this hotel has however renewed rooms and presents a fairly good comfort despite some structural shortcomings; in the first place the one and only single elevator for all the guests but two elevators for service staff. Food could be definitely better and widows cleaning also belong to the room-make-up. Apart from these minor details, service is extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Taxis are always available at all times and hotel staff is helpful in finding a suitable transport to your destination. Booking.com should not tell its customers that AmEx is an accepted way of paying at this Hotel when this is not true! That can lead to serious problems in a country where money transfers are tricky, cumbersome and most of the time failing. When cash dollars are brought in, the banknotes should be impeccable; even the usual small red stamp often found on 100 US$ banknotes is a reason good enough to refuse.

« Good room, small hall »

I spent a week in this hotel, the service is good and also the room. They could improve the shower stall in the bathroom that was without any protection, so the water went to the floor. The hall has not big space in case of need to discuss with other people, or working in common areas. The Wi-Fi signal and coverage is excellent and location in the downtown very good, even if several taxi drivers had difficulties in find it.

    « Very good hotel »

I have been in Yangon about five times and this is the second time I have stayed at a hotel in which the rooms are not ridiculously badly furnished and the air coming from the air con is not smelly. Ah, and the breakfast is on the upper scale from edible. Staff are very friendly, too. Water temperature in the shower was a bit temperamental, but the room (deluxe, I think) also had a very decent looking bath tub. Only one lift means waiting times at breakfast time are a bit long. Street noise from early in the morning was an issue for me, being not a particularly early riser Oh, almost forgot - from my window I had a view of the Shwedagon! Will definitely stay again.

« Conveniently located, friendly staff »

The BW at Chinatown is nicely located for quick walking trips to 19th Street, the Night Market, Ferry terminal etc. While a swimming pool, gym and multiple lifts would have been appreciated, it's really fine for a Yangon tourist. The Breakfast is pretty good & the friendly staff make up for minor inconveniences.

« Warm hospitality, great value for money! »

Stayed for 3 nights at the hotel. Well located, next to the 19th Street, known for its BBQ food and bars. Cosy, comfortable and clean rooms. Fine restaurant with a great breakfast spread, included in the room tariff. Warm and friendly staff went out of the way to make our stay a memorable one. First, I received a visit from the floor manager with a basket of goodies because there was some disturbance from the above floors. Second, they specially prepared Vegetable Thai Green Curry and Steamed Rice meal for me (since I am a vegetarian) that made me super happy and satisfied after a long day of sight seeing and hunger pangs at their peak. Certainly recommended!

We found this hotel to be excellent in all regards - it was clean, well located for walking to the main Bogyoke Aung San market, the river and the Strand Hotel, and small eating places. The room was quite large and we had a room on the front which viewed the Shwedagon Pagoda in the distance. The staff were also excellent and very helpful and the breakfast which was included in the room rate was good.

We stayed 2 nights in the best western chinatown hotel. The location is very central and the room / hotel was clean. Breakfast and staff was also good. The only downside of this hotel is the noiseness due to the huge traffic in yangon. But if you have earplugs its no problem to sleep.

« Friendly hotel in an excellent location »

Hotel is located in a prime location, a few blocks away from the busy Chinatown night market, and 10 mins drive away from the major attractions like Central Railway Station, and pagodas. There's a mini mart just next to the hotel. so it's really convenient to pick up small bites and any necessities. Room and amenities were in good condition, and staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which helps to create a really pleasant staying experience. Stayed there for 3 nights, and the wifi connection was really stable. Breakfast spread was good, but may get a little boring after a few nights of stay. Stayed on the 9th floor facing the main road, and the noise of traffic was still quite loud even in the night time. Light sleepers might wish to request for rooms facing away from the main road. Overall, still a great stay!

A variety selection for dinner if you do not want to go out. An excellent hotel porter who always checks on you how you are, where do you want to go and always tries to explain how to travel from one place to the other. We will definitely stay here again on our future trips.

« Two weeks On Business Trip @ This Small But Comfortable, Clean, Friendly & Affordable Hotel »

Check-in was efficient and within 15 mins with reservation. All staff are friendly, and the room they gave me on the highest floor with a small window overlooking the street was quiet and private (end of corridor as requested). Room comes with high speed Wi-Fi, well stocked up mini-bar, requested for iron and iron board which they provided without question (some hotels in Yangon do not provide as they encouraged you to use tier paid laundry service). Water pressure and temperature work fine (do not take for granted in Yangon as some 3 & 4 star hotels may not necessary have these working well.) Oh, breakfast was good, a little mixture of local, continental and american. All and all, the price of USD 60+ for this comfortable room with breakfast included, is a really good bargain. Will be there tomorrow for another one week. Highly recommended.

    « Comfortable, accessible »

My wife and I stayed here three nights, and if ever I would go back to Yangon again, I would choose this hotel. It's accessible, and kind of makes you feel that you are safe, and in a familiar place. I think Myanmar is a familiar country for Filipinos, food, looks, weather-wise. But one thing that helped me appreciate it was the comfort provided by the hotel. Employees of the hotel were kind, and I and my wife could just feel that they were really doing their best to deliver quality service. I salute the employees, and think that the hotel should really take care of them. They never made me feel that I was in a different place and was miles away from home. Breakfast buffet was exquisite. It was more than I expected. For a first-timer in Myanmar, I loved this hotel.

    « Stayed here 8 nights - loved it! »

Perfect location, very clean rooms and super friendly staff. Not to forget that the restaurant has really good food that surprised me. The best part of the hotel is that it is located so close to the 19th street, great place for food. Ask the reception for a vietnamese restaurant which is located very close too!

« Small rooms but great location »

Stayed in a twin room here and the room was definitely on the small side. With 2 suitcases, it was difficult/impossible to unpack. However, for 1 or 2 nights it works - clean rooms, good but small again bathroom, nice variety at the breakfast buffet. Location is great, right in the middle of Chinatown and easily walkable to main attractions. Staff really friendly and helpful.

« Good location and excellent breakfast »

Stayed here as a part of a tour package thru Ayuda Myanmar Travel Agency. Lobby- simple but with excellent front desk and doorman service Bedrooms- nicely decorated, strange see thru bathroom and toilet from bedrooms. Comfy beds and with amenities. Street facing rooms have an excellent view of the Shwe Da Gon pagoda but the noise from the street are quite loud, Wifi-strong, fast and simple log in process. Breakfast-delicious varieties of local choices as well as waffles and fresh fruits,

« Good location & breakfast - but can be noisy »

Great location in Chinatown and not far from the key sights like Scott (Aung San) Market and the food stalls of 19th Street. Shwedagon Pagoda is a short taxi ride away and the downtown sights like Sule Pagoda are all within walking distance. I would agree with other reviewers that rooms at the front of the building can be noisy due to traffic outside (and there is a lot of honking in Yangon!), however, they have views of Shwedagon Pagoda. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the aircon worked well, there are safes in the rooms - no complaints there. The breakfast buffet had a lot of choices, from your standard fried rice and noodles to an omelet bar, fresh fruit and pastries.

    « Perfectly located »

We spent 5 nights in this nicely appointed hotel on the edge of Chinatown. The location was fantastic being close to 19th street and a short/cheap taxi ride to almost everything. The only disappointment, and the reason for a 4 instead of 5, is the constant traffic noise. The room windows need to be changed to filter out the constant car horns from the intersection below. Once they do this the hotel will be one of the nicest in Yangon. Our room overlooked shwedagon pagoda for an amazingly beautiful backdrop, especially at night which was a partial trade-off for the noise. I'd assume the rooms on the other side of building are quieter. The buffer breakfast was nice and the staff throughout the hotel were always polite and extremely helpful. The room itself was very clean and modern. A comfortable place to stay.

    « Excellent Breakfast »

The rooms are clean, have a very nice shower. The breakfast beats the other 10 hotels in Myanmar where we stayed by far in range and quality. The size of the room on floor 9 was small, the room we also had on floor 12 was larger. They serve drinks on floor 4 although it is not a full fletched bar. Staff is friendly and speaks good english.

    3
« Good and bad for value »

Good We got upgraded to bigger room which is nice, the staffs was friendly and the breakfast were lots of option considering the size of the hotel, location in the crowded chinatown but everything was walking distance and easy to get taxi. Bad The shower glass box already deteriorated, as there are many spot of dried brown yellow water on the marble walls, no offence though it will need more maintenace to survive more years. The other is it gets very noisy in the rooms as the sound from outside enter the rooms got very loud most the time. For fair price you will get this overall average.

« Great Location, Excellent Dining Room »

We stayed here after our Pandaw River Cruise from Mandalay to Yangon. It is a central location close to the Scott Market and Chinatown. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The breakfast is absolutely first rate - one of the best! The dinner menu is equally good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room had a good view of the Shwedagon Pagoda beautifully lit at night. There is room for cabs to park.Though not a luxury hotel it definitely met our needs as we toured Yangon for 4 days .

« Great hotel. Wonderful staff »

We stayed at BW during a vacation through southeast Asia. It was our first stop in Myanmar and we were a bit curious about the country and what we were going to find. The hotel was a kind surprise. All staff very gentle and atencious. They arranged bus tickets to Bagan to us and were ready to match any need we had. Great room. Really clean and comfortable. The Breakfast was good, with many different options. Would go back there, for sure.

    « Fantastic Experience »

Yangon was a stop on our Anniversary trip and the hotel made it very special for us. There were rose petals all over the floor, a rose petal heart on our bed, and welcome gifts for us. The staff made it very special for us and it will be something we never forget. The room was beautiful, spacious, clean, and everything worked perfectly. The location is perfect as it was a short walk to 19th street where all the action is at night. I highly recommend this hotel -- and thank you again Andrew and your staff!!

« Very Good at this price range - couldn't ask for more »

The BWCH is well located budget hotel and ALL the frills have been directed in the correct place - THE BEDROOMS! Upon entering the hotel lobby/reception you may expect very little - but once you're up in the rooms you'll be more than pleasantly surprised. All the trimmings of a up scale hotel and all in very good condition as well - big king size beds that an comfortable and supportive, in-room safe, robes, large flat-screen TVs, numerous plug points, well appointed decor, mini-bar, large bathroom with rain shower and a separate jumbo-sized bathtub (I'm 187cm / 6'2" - and I fit comfortably in the tub). Staff are VERY HELPFUL and attentive, most speak a workable level of English. Remember you're in Asia and sometime an honest response can sound a bit curt - but it is not intended to be short - ALSO bear in mind that English is a second or even third language (usually self or informally taught!!) for hotel staff - things will get lost in translation. Breakfast offering was more than decent - no complaints as was their bar service in the evening (which is also in the dining room). There are few common facilities - it is really simply a very nice place to rest your weary traveller feet after a long hot day of trekking around. Check in/out - can get a little chaotic if there is a large group of you. Traffic noise from about 6am is unavoidable (honking is a national pastime) - even on the 10th or 11th floor. Their next serious CAPEX should be to improve the sound-proofing for the windows across the property.

    « Paperthin walls »

The hotel is in the chaos of Chinatown which was quite interesting to experience. The biggest problem was the noise-not from outside but inside the hotel. When my neighbor decided to make a SKYPE call home at midnight I could swear he was right beside me

    « Nice Small Hotel »

I and friends stayed in early December 15, BWC Hotel is set in good location in the city centre. we spent two nights, Nothing to worry or negative. coz we just stayed at night and spent time outside. Wifi is free and breakfast serve as buffet in Asian and western. Will be back to Yangon and stay here again.

    « Ask for a QUIET room!!! »

I stayed here a total of 4 nights - 2 at the beginning of my Myanmar trip and 2 at the end. The first room I was given was a the 4th floor facing an alley in China town - VERY noisy with monks shouting prayers from loud speakers. I went downstairs and requested a different room. This time it was on the 10th or 11th floor, not facing the front street and in the center of the hallway. It only had a very small window, but that was fine - no view anyway and less sound. Bathrooms were very clean. A/C was frigid. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast buffets were quite nice and filling. Restaurant was nicely decorated and service was attentive. If you want to save some money over 5 star properties and you aren't too picky, this hotel is very doable. Everyone tried very hard to make me happy.

« Nice oasis in the heart of the city. »

We stayed here for 4 nights recently. We arrived on the overnight bus from Bagan around 6:30 am and only had to wait until 8 am to get into our room. The room had everything you needed, including a much loved kettle (our first this trip). The room is not real large but set up nicely and very modern and well furnished. The bathroom has a separate shower - also our first this trip. Bed was so comfy! The breakfast is superb and we actually ate in their restaurant several times as a way to end the day with not hassle. They have a very varied menu and all was prepared well. Staff everywhere were very helpful - front desk, housekeeping on our floor, and our very sweet servers in the restaurant. We walked almost everywhere from this hotel - including Chinatown, various temples, markets. Taxi's are cheap if you prefer.

    « Excellent »

We arrived in Yangon and were booked in a budget hotel around the corner (Mr Lee hotel), I won't go into details but decided to look for a new hotel for the remainder of our stay (2 more nights). I went into reception & agreed a price (better than I could find on the internet) with the front office Manager Mr Andrew who upgraded us to a better room which was on the 6th floor facing the front of the building. My wife had been ill with travellers tummy & Mr Andrew went to the pharmacy with her to translate, she returned with medicine that really helped. The room was L shaped large, clean & well appointed as was the bathroom. You could hear noise from the road outside but not as bad as we have experienced in most busy cities. The breakfast was one of the the best we've had after travelling in SE Asia for 9 weeks. The restaurant situated on the 4th floor served eastern & western food. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is good. We booked a coach journey to our next destination through the reception & one again Mr Andrew went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we got the journey that suited our requirements after many phone calls. This hotel suited our needs perfectly at our point in travelling, with a few western comforts & food to revitalise us before moving on. Would highly recommend & a huge thank you to Mr Andrew & his excellent staff.

« For sure I would never go there again »

According to our reservation our room should have had a "city view" and be 19 square meters wide. Instead the room had NO windows (indeed there was a window, but with a wall 1 foot away - see picture attached) and was no more than 10 m2. Disappointing! No help on that from the staff. On the opposite, Breakfast was good.

« Nice hotel stay, excellent breakfast! »

Stayed here for two nights while in Yangon. I got upgraded because they were fully booked in the category of room that I had reserved. My room was clean, comfortable and spacious, and the bathroom was a good size. Good A/C and wifi was fairly fast. The breakfast buffet was easily the best out of the four hotels I stayed in in Myanmar. My only complaint was that my room was facing the street and right next to the elevator and stairwell. It was pretty noisy at night, and I had to use earplugs to sleep. Next time I would request a room away from the street and elevator.

    4
« Good value for money »

The hotel is conveniently located in the eastern part of the City center close to main attractions. Staff is very friendly, unfortunately English sometimes not sufficient. Good stable Wifi, excellent breakfast buffet. Rooms are clean, a little bit small if you take a standard room.

    5
« Excellent services, staff and breakfast!! »

In the midst of so much "chaos and noise" it was nice to retreat to a nice "western" environment. The reception is deceiving for its size, as once on the fist floor, the hotel is quite huge. Windows are not double glazed which does not affect the temperature, as the aircon was very efficient, but it does affect the noise, which although not loud, was a constant beeping of horns below. Also, note the wifi in general in Myanmar is awful (Feb. 2016) - forget anything more than checking emails or whatsapps...

    5
« Ideal stay in Yangon »

Great location, clean, spacious, and excellent breakfast. All in all a good value. One caveat is the street noise. There is a fair amount of noise during the day (that's Yangon), but was not a problem at night. The noise-sensitive might request a room on the back side.

    4
    « Small room but that's Yangon »

Others liked their large rooms with big windows, ours at the back was tiny with one small frosted glass window. With luggage it was a tight squeeze BUT the bed was the most comfortable we experienced in 3 weeks and the wifi was as good as it is at home and that was definatly unusual. The room was clean and nicely decorated with all the usual facilities. Our first non smoking room had a heady smell of smoke and air freshener and the reception tried fobbing us off initially. The second room was fine if just as small and dark. We had a decent burger for lunch in the restaurant which wasn't expensive and at breakfast there was a good choice. The area around the hotel is busy and noisy so our room at the back had its advantages. The price was very reasonable for the standard of hotel but we did book a couple of months ahead.

« good hotel while in Yangon »

After a long trip including delayed/canceled flights, arrived here in the morning...and couldn't have been more pleased. They already had my room ready. Room was big, clean and modern. Staff super friendly and helpful. I walked almost everywhere from here, except the Shwedagon Pagoda. Reason I'm giving it a 4.5 and not a 5/5 because the room wasn't too well soundproofed.. The sound of traffic a bit too loud for my linking. That being said i'd stay here again but probably at a higher floor.

    5
« Huge rooms for excellent price »

Loved my one night stay at the Best Western Chinatown. Located in the hustle and bustle of downtown Yangon, the hotel is a hidden treasure. The staff are wonderful, even upgrading my room for the night. The room was huge, extremely clean with a large bath. The many powerpoints located in the room was amazing, Myanmar hotels often seem not to have enough. The price for one night was much better than other medium/up market hotels in Yangon and I dare say the room was much nicer too! I would stay here again in a heartbeat if I came back to Yangon.

« Great hotel though nothing in vicinity »

Stayed here cos of its proximity to 19th street but realised there's no good street food there. The bbq food is not nice on 19th Street. The Good Evening Sea Food Shop after you exit from 19th Street is so much better. Nothing else you can find in the vicinity except a Grab&Go minimart next door and a shopping mall, Junction Centre (Junction Maw Tin) 15mins down the road on the left once you exit from hotel. It's a wet market on the 19th street in the morning. Bogyoke Market is 20mins walk away, so won't bother since cab is cheap and there's nothing to see on your walk there. Will probably not pay this steep rate again for the very small rooms here since there's nothing much at the doorstep and the only lift takes a long time having had to serve 12 floors. Cab is about 2,000ks for not more than 15mins ride. Forget about the superior rooms which is still listed as their normal deluxe rooms, pathetic size. Was informed the room type is still not updated in their website which makes it hard to know which room you're booking for if you book through online agents. The deluxe twin rooms which is their business deluxe can only fit one 27" luggage by putting onto their luggage rack. Go for only the executive rooms which offers a huge room and a huge bathroom with a bathtub. Was lucky to get free upgrade as there's no available smoking room for the deluxe room that I booked for. Wifi was great. Breakfast was sumptuous though the coffee was very disappointing. I was also given a free packed breakfast for my early check out at 5am which was a very nice thought. My friends did not get it though cos the hotel indicated that you need to prebook for it which I didn't too. Airline details was submitted for all of us through the online agent. Luckily, the hotel assisted to prepare another 2 sets for my friends nevertheless. Overall, service in hotel is good.

    « Loved it! »

clean, very friendly and good and well equipped rooms, the Best Western is a great refuge from the hassle of surrounding streets of Chinatown. Great location (night market). Great breakfast and good Wi-Fi.

« One of the great memories in Myanmar! »

The staff were polite, informative and attentive. Free juice offered at the lobby. The room is well-equipped with modern furniture/decoration and the size is also big enough for two people. The hotel offers a rich breakfast buffet. Conveniently located hotel; local market is in the area, the convenient store is next to it. However, we could hear some kind of prayer calls every night in our room, bathroom had drain problem; we had to give the water level 10 minutes or so to drop, ants on the bed. There's only one elevator for the whole hotel. Overall, a great experience.

« Great location, value for money. Comfy beds and tasty breakfast. »

We loved our stay at the Best Western. It's right in the middle of downtown, plenty of markets in walking distance. Around an hour from the airport. We tried to organise an airport pick up, but the hotel ignored us. We inquired about this more than 3 times. But it was easy enough to do this ourselves at the airport. Beware - the hotel have maps available from the reception. But they are simplified and streets are missing. Great value for money, good range of food at breakfast. Good service. Only problem we had was when trying to order room service. We should have just gone down to reception to have someone translate for us, over the phone, the person we spoke to could not understand english. This was the only problem we had. Everyone else was great - if someone could not speak english, they found a colleague who could help. If I plan to be in the area again, I'd return.

« My trip to Myanmar »

The location is ok, Chinatown is not easy to negotiate, poor walkways , lots of trash and unpredictable traffic discipline are all a challenge. the hotel staff try to help but there is a lack of even simple English among many, room was quite big and clean, breakfast was good. Ensure you have local currency or USD

« Wonderful boutique hotel with excellent service »

First time visit to Yangon and decided to stay at this hotel and must say, loved it. The rooms are very good and spacious, very good service and an excellent breakfast. In additional to this their happy hour, certainly made us very very happy. Would recommend this wonderful boutique hotel to anyone, especially first time visitors and also the location of the hotel is terrific!! close to pretty much all the major tourist spots and also can walk to various restaurants and eateries.!!

    3
    « Average place. »

Its a small property in the heart of China town. The rooms are just enough for 2 people. The reception is crowded and there's no lobby to speak of. The lift is slow and there is only one available. It takes forever to come especially in the mornings when its crowded. The location of this hotel is good and convenient. You can get a taxi at any time of the day or night. The staff at the reception are good. But the restaurant staff needs to learn to smile when asked for something. Overall its a average experience - neither bad nor too good!

« Wonderful stay in Best Western Chinatown Hotel »

Excellence customer service, nice room decor, comfortable beds, clean and good buffer spread make our stays memorable when we visited Yangon for the first time during the last Christmas. Because the town has so much development going on,the noise from the opposite construction site woke us up very early in the morning. We purposely chosen China Town because we wanted to see the way of life of the people here. House keeping neglected to clean the upper shelves of the cupboard and floor behind the door, leaving behind a thick coat of dust but after we informed the front desk, it was immediately attended to.

« New Refurbished Rooms, Great Service and Location »

Booked with Agoda. Check in and check out were a breeze. Very friendly front office and concierge personnels and they speak pretty good English too. Took a junior suite. Both rooms have a nice view of Schwedagon Pagoda. It looks nicer at night albeit a little far. Room size is a little small for this category but it is big enough. I was in 909 (non-snoking floor on the 1st) and 709 (smoking floor on the following nights). The smoking room wasn't available the 1st night so they got it for me for the following nights. The staff were great about the move, I packed up my stuff and they just moved them to the new room when it became available. Totally hassle free. The other problem with room fronting the main road is the noise from the traffic below. The Burmese has a habit of honking every other minute so the noise can get to some people. It didn't really bother but it might bother light sleepers. Probably need to check with them if they have rooms which doesn't front any main roads... Both rooms are clean and the bathrooms are with a large size bathtubs, shower cubicle with rain shower, WC and single sink. I really have an issue with the sink faucet coz it sprays all over the place. Didn't kill me but my toiletries get splashed everytime I use the sink. Plenty of towels, sufficient toiletries incl toothbrush set. Just be careful with the hot water. It takes awhile to get warm then it will sort of go from hot to cold at intervals. Make sure you test it so as not to be scalded. They provide hair dryer, umbrella, shoe polish stuff, ironing board, iron, yukata/bathrobes and safe. The rooms have pretty decent free wifi so that was really great. It is located in Chinatown so plenty of hustle and bustle every day. Chinatown is in grid format and there is literally a small market selling fruits, vegetables to meat at almost every junction. Right in front of the hotel, there are food stalls with seatings selling typical local dinner dishes. So if you fancy street food, it is right at the door step. It is not all that near to the main sights like Sule, Shwedagon Pagodas but not too far from Bogyoke Market. You will need to negotiate with the cabs before you get in coz they don't have meters. The cost of the cab depends also on whether it is peak hour or not. I am lousy at bargaining so probably ended up paying slightly more than others. I have to say that the restaurant serves pretty good food too but at a much higher price, of course. The breakfast is pretty good too with good variety of Asian and Western cuisine and an egg station. The decent spa is about 5 mins walk. Sapel Spa. Turn left as you come out of the main entrance, then cross a main road, then take the next left and walk right to almost the end of the small street. Decent place but the cost is about 3x higher than other places. But the atmosphere is extremely different. Overall, if I come back to Yangon, I would stay here again.

    « A Very Nice Stay »

We stayed at the Best Western Chinatown for 5 days including Christmas Day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had a room on the 7th floor which was a deluxe double and was perfect for two people. The surprise was the bathroom which was equal with anything you would get in a western hotel. The toilet flushed and didn't run continuously, the shower had good water pressure and there was regular hot water. Nothing to complain about here. We loved the position right in the middle of all the Chinatown action and not that far (walking) to the Colonial Quarter. Breakfast was good. We did do lunch here one day (as finding a cafe as we know it offering sandwiches was tricky) but the hotel filled this requirement very well. Staff are lovely , good English & very, very polite & friendly over all it was wonderful & we can't wait to come back!

    « Split-personality »

We stayed in two different rooms--and I do mean different. One was tiny, cramped, with a view of a solid wall six inches away from the window. And silent. The water in the shower warmed up by the end of the second shower. The other room was spacious, giving a great view of the area, with the Shwedagon Pagoda in the distance. With lots of street noise and an almost incessant beeping of car horns.Hot water in less than a minute. The large room had a curious feature: a big picture window from the bedroom into the bathroom. I'm not quite sure of the purpose of that. Maybe my imagination is too limited. I just closed the blind. There were a couple of farcical touches, like the electric kettle whose plug didn't match the electric socket in the coffee alcove, and the little double-sealed toothpaste tube with not toothpaste inside. The immediate area is not a good one for walking or exploring. Sidewalks clogged with people and merchandise, and streets with no safe way to cross. Staff are very friendly, extremely helpful. Absolutely top-notch breakfast. I'd call this a 3-star rather than the listed 4, but value for money, especially if you get the large street-facing views and don't mind street noise.

    « Most Enjoyable Stay. »

My girlfriend & I recently stayed at Best Western Chinatown & really enjoyed our stay. Its well located just a 15 minute walk to Bogyoke Market & Sula Pagoda. It costs a maximum 2000 chat 15 minute taxi ride to Shwedagon Pagoda & a 45 minute 8000 chat prepaid taxi from the airport. We were fortunate enough to stay in a very comfortable executive room with views of Shwedagon Pagoda.Very comfortable bed, excellent choice of tv channels & a modern & brand new bathroom. Breakfast was excellent served in a clean & modern setting with a great choice of food.Staff including restaurant manager were all very friendly, helpful, polite & spoke good English. Also bedroom cleaning staff were friendly & polite. The only slight problem some people may find is this hotel is right in the centre of Chinatown and the outside traffic and noise starts very early and finishes late. For me this wasn't a problem as I felt it was part of the atmosphere that makes up this wonderful city of Yangon but others may find it a little noisy. We enjoyed the hotel so much we have booked again so looking forward to our return shortly to Best Western Chinatown hotel Yangon.Well Done everyone-Excellent!

« Wonderful Hotel in Great Location »

I had the opportunity to stay here for just over two weeks, and I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. It's the bustling Chinatown district, so there is a lot within walking distance of the hotel if desired. My room was extremely comfortable, and it was cleaned well each day by friendly staff. In fact, the staff everywhere in the hotel--front lobby, front desk, cleaning, restaurant--were extremely friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure the guests are satisfied. In addition, the WiFi in the hotel was outstanding, particularly for Myanmar. I cannot imagine why someone would be unsatisfied staying here.

« Functional and value for Monty. »

Staff: Very attentive and friendly. Sometimes maybe over-attentive? Rooms: I got one vith view of the Pagoda. But then you also get quite a bit of traffic noise until fairly late at night. My room was quite big and well appointed. I did not share taste in style with the interior decorator, and I will not call on him for my livlig room! Very comfortable beds. About the Best ever! Small things:The toilet is in a glass cubicle. The shower in another glass cubicle next to it. If traveling with a partner I much prefer to do my ablutions in private. And shower in private. The door for the shower opens inwards. What if you fall in the shower, and you are alone?? A very small thing: In all of the nice and big bathroom there is only one small hook to hang a towel. This should be easy to correct? And move the toilet roll to become within reach, when sitting there? Breakfast: Nothing exceptionel, and largely geared to oriental tastes. Eggs made to order. A big plus for me! All in all: A very good hotel offering good value. And if you are Lucky an exceptional View of the Pagoda. I Was lucky !!

    « Central location »

We walked past the hotel as our current hotel was fully booked and we couldn't extend. On arrival we were shown an executive room which had a great view on the Pagoda and was large and spacious so we booked for 2 nights the following day. We checked in and were given a similar room with a better view. The rooms are very large. There is some street noise (we were on level 8). Breakfast is a large buffet with omelettes on order. The hotel staff were extremely helpful with booking bus tickets etc. The location is central to everything in the downtown area.

    « Excellent Location »

The hotel was nicely located within the vicinity of Yangon's Chinatown and city center. No problems in finding food and shopping as night market in Chinatown is just walking distance. Room was on the smaller side but adequate to accommodate 2 persons. Room is clean and nicely decorated with touch of golden ambience. Room only have a small window with minimal views of the street. Bathroom is clean but the shower area does not have enough enclosure causing water spilled all over the place. Hotel only have 1 elevator which was chaotic during morning rushtime as guests flocking to check out or going to breakfast floor. Breakfast is very good with lots of varieties and alterations on days. Overall a good value luxury hotel in Yangon.

« Spacious, clean room and convenient location »

As the hotel is located in Chinatown along the main road, it comes with the constant car horns and buzz from the streets below. For light sleeper, a pair of earplugs will be helpful. Comes with convenience of location! The frontline and service staff were very friendly and helpful and help us to check in earlier. The rooms were comfortable and clean and free wifi connection was good. The views from our room offered the Shwedagon stupa and Yangon skylines. The breakfast spread was the best I had in Myanmar as it served a wide range of food, bread, coffee and tea too, just to name a few. Fortunately, the hotel came with a lift too. It was conveniently located to walk around Chinatown and accessible to Bogyoke Aung San market.

« Great location and service »

We stayed in early December for 3 nights. Great service and room (decor was a little busy but hey - pretty typical of the region!). Great location and the best breakfast we saw on our trip! You can walk to many places from here. The Wi-Fi was really consistent too.

    « Convenient and pleasant »

We arrived early in the morning after our overnight bus from Bagan. However, we were unable to check in until 1 hour later. The staff was helpful and attentive. They assisted us in getting taxi and let us know the fares which is very helpful. The location of the hotel is convenient as it is located on a busy street and taxis are easily available. However, do get the hotel personnel to assist in getting one to avoid being over charge. There are also street food outside the hotel. It is also walking distance to the Bogyoke Aung San Market. The room was not very spacious but you are able to find everything you need. There is no view from our room. Wifi is accessible and connection was fine. The food was also acceptable with different varieties and reasonable price.

« A central, convenient and welcome little hotel in a great location »

Super friendly welcome and functional but comfortable and everything-you-need rooms. Good buffet breakfast and working wifi. Great views from our room. Overall a lot better experience and service than many of the larger 'luxury' resort hotels. Conveniently located for downtown walking and 19th street -amazing eating opportunities. During the day the road is noisy, but it quietens down substantially at night. Does what it needs to well. Great value.

    « Downtown gem! »

Stayed twice in a recent visit to Yangon and was very impressed. Clean, comfortable with all the mod cons....and all of them work! Which is no mean feat in this developing country. Extremely comfortable bed, luxurious bathroom with a consistently hot shower. Both my rooms had a great view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The staff are wonderfully attentive and will hail you a taxi, give you expert advice on local eating places (19th Street is only a short walk), or change your perfect US$100 bill into the local kyat. The buffet breakfast is varied and plentiful. You cant go wrong in using this hotel as your base to look around Yangon. Walking distance to the Sule Pagoda and the Colonial district.Travel time from the airport will vary depending on when you arrive. The traffic in Yangon can be horrendous so plan on an hour to travel to and fro. Walk where you can.

    « Convenient and comfortable »

I stayed in BW Chinatown in November twice. This is a smallish hotel with a small lobby. It is on a busy street. I had a corner room on the 12 floor over looking the street. The room was large, with a large bathtub and a separate shower. The wifi signal was adequate. During my first stay, I had to take an early morning flight, the hotel packed me a breakfast which was yoghurt, banana, a sandwich. A nice gesture at 430AM in the morning. Their morning breakfast buffet is a mixture of local and standard fare western spread. The staff was very accomodating and helpful. Full disclosure: I am a platinum elite with their loyalty program, so some consideration should be expected :)

« Great stay in the heart of Chinatown »

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and had a room on the 10th floor with a great view on shwedagon-pagoda. The room was spacious and very clean. For breakfast a good selection of European and asien food is served. Location is great - directly in Chinatown - and a lot of interesting places are within walking distance. But the very best in this hotel is the staff and management - service is excellent and very, very helpful! Especially the manager himself and the two girls on the front desk! We would definitely recommend this newly opened hotel.

    « Great new hotel! »

Showed up a little early and had no problem checking in! Room was really nice. View was not great, but I was just there to sleep. Staff were super nice and the breakfast was amazing!! Would definitely recommend... Allowed a late check out until 1 pm for free :)

    « A little oasis in Yangon »

After trudging through the busy and somewhat dirty streets of Yangon, the Best Western in Chinatown was our clean little homebase. We did have a couple of issues that have opportunities for improvement. Our first night at the restaurant we had curries, but they were not very good. But, we did go back for most of our stay but stuck with the special offers, which were fantastic. Don't skip dessert, trust me. Breakfast was always fantastic with a great selection and the minibar in the room was reasonably priced. There is a small market for some quick supplies next door and with a main street out front, staff will help you get a taxi and negotiate a price. The busy street starts at about 5.30am and finishes late. Make sure you have a high floor room. I don't think it would even matter if you had a room on the 12th floor, you will still hear the street noise. But the higher the better. Trying to have dinner on the 4th floor and talk to each other was challenging. The bathroom in our room had some mold in the shower but the toiletry selection was good. It was kind of hard to get use to the toilet in the glass box, a bit strange for us. The bed was comfortable, we have had our issue with overly hard mattresses in Asia but this one was a comfortable mattress with good pillows. The room has a safe, robes, tea and coffee facilities. Our room had a desk to which came in handy to do some work on the road. Wifi cut in and out but was still usable. The staff were the stand out, from the reception, to the doorman, room attendants and restaurant staff everyone was fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. We booked with Booking.com and got a good price compared with other hotels. A gem of a find.

    « Constant Street Noise »

This hotel faces a busy street with incessant horn honking beginning at 07:00 am and continuing all day and well into the night. Windows are single pane when they obviously need the sound absorbing qualities of double pane. Although rooms are newly done and attractively furnished even the ?large? Executive rooms (supposedly 32 sq. meters, but actually 27 square meters when measured by a highly accurate handheld laser) seem smallish. Compared with the four other hotels I have seen in Yangon this hotel is overpriced and somewhat inconveniently located. For those who care, the hotel is not guest friendly. Cons: Constant street noise, mediocre breakfast, small rooms, not guest friendly Pros: Relatively new, good Wi-Fi (but must reconnect frequently), helpful counter staff

    « Shwedagon Pagoda »

We stayed on the top floor (12th), even room numbers facing the Shwedagon Pagoda. Cleaning staff spoke good english and the rooms were very comfortable especially the bed. Our room had both a shower and a bath. Staff very helpful in helping with directions. Most of the attractions are a short taxi ride. We asked the front desk to recommend a car and driver. The person driving us was very polite and we had a very relaxing time. Lots of local shops lining the nearby streets and it was enjoyable. Breakfast was adequate. Staff lovely. Overall kudos to the hotel staff!!!

« Nice holiday stay in Yangon »

Very good room, I had all breakfast, lunch and dinner - excellent! The staff very friendly and helpful. Desk personnel spoke/understood very little English - so here is a possibility to improve. Sum up - a very good place to stay!

« Comfortable with Nice Deco but small room »

We arrived at the hotel early at 7am after the overnight bus from Bagan. The hotel staff are helpful and is flexible in allowing us an early check-in at 9am. Totally grateful for such gesture after a long strenuous bus journey the night before. The hotel provides relatively good room-service menu, pizza is great. The taxi ride quoted is also reasonably priced. Within the vicinity of the hotel, you can walk to Bogyoke Market and Sule Pagoda. There is a small convenient store right beside the market. The hotel provides stable and good speed wifi, both at the common area and in the room. Very good! The hotel room we had was small, but it is well decorated. The lighting is bright and good. The bathroom size is good, with good water pressure. The hotel staff is helpful, friendly and can be well understood as most of them speaks English.

« Good BF but Bad Bath Room »

Me and friends stayed at Best Western Chinatown for 4 days. When you had a hotel around Chinatown you always find so many foods stalls or restaurants. The location was ok and near several Buddha temples but not the best location if you preferred clean area. The reception staffs are polite and helpful. I got room no 901 it was disappointment for us because the window faced the wall so there was nothing to see and the shower was no door so water splashed everywhere and looked messy. The faucet was cheapo style and water splashed around you. The bed was ok and cleaned and convenient but the room was small with huge flat TV screen. I still enjoy my stay because the BF was so good with local foods like tofu bean sprout, samosa, mushroom soup, many more and all was good. Just don't pick up room no 901.

« Good rooms. Good breakfast. Smoking should not be allowed »

We booked a non-smoking room but ended up in a smoking room which smelled of cigarettes since you stepped out of the lift. Other than that the room was quite decent for the price you pay and breakfast offered a good selection. It's located on the main road so if you get a room next to the street you can hear the cars honking all night plus the events at the temples nearby. Bring your earplugs.

    « Fair »

If you want to be in the center of town and have Western comforts, this hotel is probably a good bet for a fair value. The hotel itself is small. There is no fitness center. The front facing rooms are unbelievably loud and noisy. Windows are not insulated so noise (horns beeping, traffic) is continuous all night long. The rooms are appointed well and modern, but cleaning service is poor. There is a breakfast buffet, which is very good. Wifi is very fast and reliable. When we were there, we had no hot water, and the hotel staff didn't seem to have any solutions or really try, which was frustrating.

« Best hotel in downtown area for this price range. »

As stated in the title, I believe that if you want to stay in this area then this is the best hotel in this price range. The staff were very friendly from the beginning. They offered us a free upgrade, but we actually preferred the first room! Every single member of staff would stop what they were doing to say hello whenever you walked by. The room was fantastic. It was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was also large, with a great shower. The room and hotel were very clean. I thought that the location was very good, with great access to the food and drink options of Chinatown. When we wanted to organise a private car to drive to Naypyidaw, they were able to source one for an incredibly good price compared to the prices given by taxi drivers outside. There were only 2 small downsides. The first is the wifi. It was fast when it worked, but we found that it would often lose connection. Also it isn't too well insulated against the road noise, although it is far better than other hotels we stayed in within the same area. The car horns and loud music outside start early (6.30am on our last day), so if you're a light sleeper perhaps consider earplugs. If we visited Yangon again I would absolutely choose this hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting.

« in the Yangon Centre »

A good hotel: rooms nicely decorated, not very big but comfortable enough. Hotel located in the Yangon centre, at a very busy street and it can be a drawback: very loud until late at night (even though our room was on the 10th floor). This shortcoming somewhat compensates smiling and helpful staff, and the view from the window on Shwedagon Pagoda. Very rich choice for breakfast. No nice experience at the beginning: the hotel requires payment already at check in which is nowhere to be found on Burma. The possibility of arranging tours by the hotel: e.g. to Bago at attractive prices.

« Fabulous hotel in the heart of Yangon »

This hotel in the bustling Chinatown centre of Yangon is a rare pearl. From luxurious rooms to a buffet breakfast fit for a king, what distinguishes this hotel is the personalised service. This hotel's staff uniquely cares about its guests - and this is evident in all sorts of small ways (greeting you by name, providing an early rise breakfast box, and sorting out quickly anything which you want - including a room cleaning at 8 PM). The breakfast buffet is truly amazing. A large selection of "western" style breakfast staples is supplemented by a Chinese buffet, plus Japanese and Burmese dishes. Honestly, it was a pleasure to stay at this hotel. I recommend it without hesitation! One small note: This hotel is located downtown. If you are a light sleeper or disturbed by the hustle and bustle (and smells) of a poor and tightly packed Asian city, best not stay here. And finally, the WiFi is very slow. But you can request a cable which provides a much faster transmission.

« Lovely hotel and good value »

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Nice comfy beds, great bath and shower and the breakfast was excellent with many choices. Make sure you try the restaurant for dinner. Really good. Excellent wifi.

« Comfortable, clean, great value, great breakfast »

Stayed for 5 nights, and found it extremely comfortable, well located (walking distance to Sule Pagoda, Chinatown, Sakura Tower, main train station) and nicely furnished. Had a room at the back, so no view, but I only stayed at night, so it didn't matter. Breakfast was great, with a good choice. Cereals, egg station, lots of bread and pastries, noodle/rice dishes, local soups/mohingya, juices, teas, coffee. A great pop-up street cafe just outside, and a convenience store next door with a chemist next door on the other side. Staff very friendly, helpful and professional. Wi-fi nice to have, although you do need to keep logging in every so often. But not really a problem, and the speed is ok. Comfy, big bed, nicely appointed room with safe, toiletries, hairdryer, desk etc. Would definitely stay again!

« Value-Added Business Hotel If Not For The Stench of Chinatown »

The folks are friendly and location is great. This hotel and the other at Greenhills share the same owner. The room comfort is comparable to the other. For the western tourists who are interested to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the central area, this BW is certainly a good choice. The lobby is small, but make up by the staff who tried hard to serve and please. I did not appreciate the stench of the Chinatown area though.

« Very comfortable with the best breakfast »

To me, compared to the dirty and filthy streets and the unbearably hot weather outside, stepping into this hotel with A/C was a bit like entering the heaven from hell :-) I have enjoyed the breakfast the most as it has included all sorts of Asian or Chinese stuff such as congee (with salted eggs, preserved egg, fermented bean curb etc.), noodle, fried rice and many other dishes (like lunches!) ...these just have just pleased me (if nobody else). There are also pastries and I saw people get omelet cooked for them etc. It's like the best "free" breakfast ever. I often felt like staying in the hotel more than walking under the scorching sun. The only imperfection was a few ants that I have seen during the last day ?? Including tax, I have paid $210 for 3 days, best deal when I tried to look for hotels in Yangon. The Director of Sales has allowed me to pay by credit card before I arrived such that I could avoid the 2 or 3% fee that they might charge if I paid by credit card after I arrived. Though the room may be small and it's got only a pair of narrow windows (up and down), the equipment seems modern and abundant including sandals, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, razor, hair-dryer, etc. The shower should have a one more glass door to prevent the water from splashing out. Nevertheless, they seem to have did some work such that the water would eventually go down the drain. The staff are polite and smile all the time. Overall, this is place that is definitely worth recommending.

    « Nice stay »

Hotel was in a great location, close to the market. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and included free wi-fi. Our room had a view of Shwedagon Pagoda. We'd definitely stay here again!

« Very friendly and helpful staff »

I have been very pleased with the location of this property as many tourist sights are within walking distance. Rooms are tiny but have everything you possibly need plus they are extremely clean. I am only giving it a four rating because the restaurant needs improvement, e.g. a broader fresh fruit assortment at breakfast would certainly be appreciated. Restaurant staff speak very little English so placing an order is kind of a lottery or maybe the menu should be more specific as to ingredients and preparations.

« Great value for the money. Highly recommended. »

This is the best hotel for me so far during my 3 weeks here. Very comfortable rooms, well appointed, very quiet. And very good Internet. Breakfast is great. Staff, as is true everywhere here, are very good. The on site travel agent is good for helping with onward travel. I'd recommend this hotel and would stay here again. It's very central to tourist sites in the city.

« Decent Value for Yangon »

Hotel inventory has not caught up yet with demand in this city which makes Bangkok seem like Zurich. The surrounding neighborhood is pure chaos, ask for a high floor. Room is compact but well appointed, bathroom nice, hotel quite new. The 1 elevator makes for long waiting. Very good breakfast buffet, great selection. Front desk could use charm school and will push you to pay cash, which if you do commits you to your entire stay if you wish to leave Yangon sooner. The young man concierge / doorman is great and really helpful hopefully recognized by the hotel leading to a bright career path at the hotel.

« This hotel should have a higher rank on TA »

The main reason I booked this hotel was because it was cheap, star rating, and I could prepay. I wasn't expecting much. But I was shocked how clean, modern and spacious the rooms were. Our room even had an amazing view of the Shwadagon pagoda. Location was awesome and easy to navigate. The breakfast selection was good. Service was good. It deserves a strong, solid 4 rating.

    « Great Stay »

Hotel is modern, really clean, lots of toiletries and fab staff. Restaurant was great too. Bit noisy but it is a city. It's a great choice all round and I would stay here again. city. Better than more expensive hotels we used while in Burma. Would highly recommend

« Clean hotel in Yangon Chinatown »

We stayed here mainly from consideration of location and value. This is a fairly new facility. The "Business Deluxe" room we had was a bit congested since it seemed the standard size room with two beds. There was hardly enough room for convenient use of the chair or other seats in the room. The bathroom was good. The walls of the shower and toilet are glass, If you don't want to be seen by your roommate using those, only one can use the bathroom at a time. The room was well supplied. The staff was eager to please. The restaurant breakfast had enough variety (with some variation day to day for the hot dishes). Omlets/fried eggs were made to order. The staff in the restaurant were attentive and helpful. The reception area is very narrow with a total of 4 chairs, two in one corner and two in another. The street front is also not very attractive. Even though we found this to be of very good value for staying in Yangon, the commute to other parts of downtown was very time consuming. The street on which this hotel stands is particularly congested in the late afternoon and evening. A mile and half distance easily took 20-30 minutes. The room we had was not very sound proof. We could hear the rain and the broadcasts from what seemed to be a nearby temple or a political rally came through loud and clear. Hallway noises were also not hard to hear.

« Clean and modern hotel »

This was our first stop in Yangon and were upgraded for our stay...the room was large and had a great bath. We had a great view do the pagoda which is lit up at night. We returned after a 5 night tour for a 2 night stay and were give a room at the rear that was quite tiny.........had a hard time moving around the room with 2 suitcases. That would be my only criticism because the room was clean, bed very comfy, a/c was quiet, the staff we encountered were great and breakfast was probably the best we've had in our 3 week visit to Myanmar.

« Very nice and value for money »

We stayed at Best Western for 3 nights, the hotel is very new and clean, it is located at the 17th street which means it is close to everything, however as the hotel is located at the main road, it can be very noisy during the day. If you are looking for quiet hotel, I wouldn't choose this, but if you are looking for a 3 stars clean and tidy hotel, this is what you should book. There are lots of street food right at the bottom of the hotel, very convenience of for experiencing Myanmar street food! Simon at the lobby is very helpful and nice, the breakfast is also good. Overall we are happy with our stay and it is value for money!

« Lovely Little Hotel and Service »

I wanted to stay at a decent International Hotel in Yangon for the first few nights and picked this one. Location wise, close to 19th St... Pleased to report that the room was super comfortable with a great flat screen TV and facilities, very comfortable bed and sheets, really no issues aside from slow Wifi. That aside the staff went out of their way to help me - Indeed I asked for an early check in which was taken care of; I went away to Bagan for a few days and they kindly allowed me to leave my larger case in storage with them, this saved me a big headache; When I returned from Bagan I arrived at 7 am, and they were really good to let me take the room at that time so I could get some much needed rest rather than wander around the town half asleep until 1400 pm.. (or pay an extra half day) The Duty Manager Mye Myiat was extra helpful with local advice, booking taxis and bus tickets on my behalf, and his staff were equally kind and always did their best....Special mention Ms. Phyu Phyu Aung at reception.. also fabulous... Top breakfasts also.. In short highly recommended and I intend to be back asap and use the hotel as my home in Yangon. Thanks to all the team Gavin

« A Notable Addition to Choices in Yangon »

The Best Western Chinatown was a pleasant surprise: reasonable prices and high quality accommodation with a well-trained, professional staff, in a good location in the central city. From here it is easy to walk to major sites including Sule, 19th Street, Bogyoke Market, etc. Some have complained about the neighborhood, but it is really just a typical Chinatown setting. The restaurant here also earns high marks for quality and service. There were two drawbacks... an oddly snapped room (which is not unusual in Yangon) and quite poor water pressure. The hot shower just dribbles out. It may not be an issue for many, but I found it very disappointing, given the quality of the room in general. Altho, the hotel mentions bathtubs in its literature, there was none.

« One of our best stays in Myanmar »

We stayed here 2 nights, and this was one of several Myanmar hotels we stayed at. Staff were great, and hotel was clean with good facilities. Great air-con, which we apprecite more now that we have stayed at other places with awful, or no air-con in Myanmar. I think this was one of the better hotels, but the prices reflect this as it was also one of the most expensive. As other reviewers have noted, it is in a dirty part of town, but you are centrally located, and the dirtiness is inherent to Yangon. Breakfast far exceeded expectations given other reviews - we were very happy with the choices. Good free wifi available in room.
