    « Good location »

We stayed for one night over the American thanksgiving weekend for a hockey game in Detroit . We arrived in Windsor earlier than expected, we called ahead and we were able to check in about two hours early, which was amazing. The lobby is clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and polite. Check-in was very quick, parking was very reasonable at the multi-level behind the hotel that does have an enclosed walkway to the hotel, it is a bit longer walk to the hotel by way of the walkway though. The location for our visit was extremely convenient, there is plenty of bars and restaurants within close walking distance, the casino is also a short, direct walk. We used the tunnel bus to get to downtown Detroit, and the terminal is right across the street from the back entrance to the lobby. The only complaint that we had was with the room itself. While we were pleased with the rate ($178 after tax), we were disappointed with the condition of the room. The bed was very clean and comfortable, but the room was very outdated, old carpet, and furniture, the bathroom was also clean, but dated and dark. With some room renovations this would be an amazing hotel. Perhaps just drop the PLUS and just sell it as a regular best western. For the absolute amazing location we would stay here again.

« Nice place with a scenic view »

This was our very first visit to Canada. It was a comfortable place to stay in Windsor with a nice breakfast buffet. A nice park with a wonderful view of the Detroit skyline is just walking distance. Parking is not very convenient, though, as you have to cross the street at the back of the hotel.

    « Terrible Customer Service/Unfulfilled Promise »

We booked this hotel for 3 days and all we got was terrible customer service. To start off with, we paid for a River View room and they end up giving us a partial view room. Beds are horrible - They need to be upgraded! Went to the front desk to ask for something and the front desk was extremely rude - "we don't carry that here at front desk" This was the person's reply and he completed ignored us and starting helping another customer.

« Great place with a wonderful view! »

We have been here several times and really enjoy the city of Windsor, ON. The rooms here with the view of the Detroit skyline is beautiful. Wonderful city to walk around to the restaurants, shops and entertainment (Caesars). Highly recommended.

« Love what they've done with the place! »

My husband and I just recently visited since it changed over to the Best Western and we absolutely loved it. Very modern and clean. Breakfast included - all for a very reasonable price too. Will definitely be staying here again.

    « Awesome time »

Main reason why we were here was for my friend's wedding. Easy to locate from the border. Nice location as it is at riverfront. Room is quite small but ok. Overlooking the river which is nice. Near elevator. Parking is at 12 dollars a day at the rear of the building right across the street. It is safe but I would think that the parking lot rightly behind the building could be for the guests. Extra care provided to us. Got a note from them as we did not want any housekeeping... frankly we left for a day to go to Niagara falls. They offered us towel which was nice but we did need new towels. Breakfast may be too redundant. Very little selection. Same thing every morning. Lack of condiments like hot sauce, mayo etc. Lack of bread selection.. may be bagel, more wheat bread or rye. May be biscuit and gravy on sundays may not be a bad idea for more variety. Walking distance from restaurants .. too cold to walk though. I am a desert rat and cold and is like water and oil. Lol. I guess that's Canada weather for u. They offer exhange for US dollars to Canadian dollars which is convenient. Walking distance to the wedding reception which was nice. Overall it was good.

    « great location »

I visited Windsor for business and selected this hotel for its location. Was lucky to get the top 22nd floor and the view is fantastic. room are huge, with 2 queen beds, very clean and comfortable. free Wi-Fi and free breakfast which was quite good but served with paper plates and plastic cutlery.

    4
    « Great View »

The hotel over looks the river to Detroit. You can have an amazing walk, run or bike along the river walk way park. There are many restaurants close by for an evening out. Easy access from the hotel to downtown shopping.

    5
    « Great Stay »

Stay at this hotel always when in Windsor. Clean, great location, great view from room and fitness center. Parking is reasonably priced and handy at the back of the Hotel, and easy access to the Tunnel to the States.

    « Weekend stay »

Checking was smooth. Parking is around back in parking garage, somewhat inconvenient. Rooms immaculate and very comfortable. Hotel has a pool but no hotub. 100% smoke free, but could smell smoke on our floor. Breakfast, included was very good. Lots of space to eat. Close to downtown and most amazing view of Windsor coast line, Detroit river and Detroit skyline. You pay for the view.

    « Amazing view!! »

My husband and I went for a romantic anniversary trip. We were not disappointed!! The room with the panoramic view of the river and Detroit skyline was worth every penny!!! The hotel was modern and very clean. It was also very conveniently located to several bars and restaurants. Fantastic stay!!!

    4
« Great View and Good Value »

One of the most impressive views of the Detroit skyline can be seen from the windows of this hotel. The hotel is located close to the casino and the arts centre and it takes only a short walk to get to downtown locations. The rooms are adequate in size, clean and comfortable. It is solidly a 4 star venue.

    5
« Views for all & great staff! »

All rooms seem to have a river view. Visiting for a hockey game in Detroit - perfect getaway with a view of the city and escape the madness of conventions. Check in was a breeze and the views (even partial) are simply amazing. Red & white accents made it home feel for the Red Wings. Everything and everyone was great - very helpful. Bathroom faucet was pretty weak, very low water pressure but everything else was simply perfect. Parking was available across the street behind the hotel for $12/night - great location within Windsor.

    « Not worth it »

Everything looks great from afar. The lobby is lovely and updated and the front desk staff was pleasant at check-in. We booked a 2 queen room. When we got to our room, they were not queen sized beds - they were double. The bathroom fan didn't work. The a/c heat unit in the room was filthy! And when we opened the panel to turn it off - we couldn't because it was missing the nobs and the labels! They charge $12 to park and it is in a sketchy public parking garage on the block behind the building. We parked on the 4th level and tried to use the elevator down but the elevator didn't work and we got stuck in it and had to pry the door open! The stairwell was so dirty that you didn't even want to touch the doors or the stairs themselves. This hotel was definitely not worth the price! Will not be staying here again and will be seriously reconsidering staying at any other Best Western in the future.

    1
« The location might be good, that's about it. »

If you think you're getting a deal, you've got another thing coming. The continental breakfast is awful, the A/C unit in the room sounds like a Hemi truck engine, and my room seemed dirty. The staff was friendly though at arrival, and the bar lounge is really nice.

    5
« Great place to stay! »

I was very pleased with the staff and cleanliness of the rooms. My stay was a pleasurable one. The view was breath taking from my room. The only drawback to staying here was having to pay for parking. I would defiantly tell anyone that visits Windsor about staying at this hotel.

    4
    « Great weekend Getaway !! »

The hotel is great with all its amenities, close to downtown and right on the waterfront. Room view of the river and Detroit was really nice. Only thing ... their breakfast is decent but closes way too soon at 10:00 a.m. the staff was already clearing things. Could use to stay open longer until 10:30 or 11:00 a.m. Busy hotel but clean and great service from front staff (forgot her name but she was very pleasant and helped us out tremendously). Great weekend getaway except for the Halloween bash happening next door to the hotel ... you could hear the music through the walls. Beware of coming on Halloween weekend !!

    5
« Great spot on the waterfront »

Clean hotel with comfortable beds. Walking distance to casino and the waterfront park in front of the hotel. Great views of the waterfront and Detroit from our hotel room. There was coffee available in the lobby, but it wasn't worth drinking.

    4
« Loved it, and an awesome view!! »

We were on the 15th floor, with an awesome view of downtown Detroit. It's a busy place, but we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was decent. We walked to the casino, it was 10 minutes maybe. Parking was convenient, but drop your bags off first.

    2
« Best Western in Windsor - Not worth the money »

Came here thanksgiving weekend - Bars were OK, not very lively - The view is beautiful but I am sure the view at the casino is just as lovely; would have stayed there had my partner not forgotten his ID. They say the parking is free, they try to charge you thereafter for parking when you have already left the hotel Hotel tried to charge me TWICE for my stay because they are unorganized and clearly incompetent in the hotel business. The receptionist even had the audacity to say sternly ' you owe us money ' . Sorry I am a working professional and last time I checked, I paid my dues the day of. Ten minutes later she apologized after reviewing records and said although she tried to get into my account to take out money - and was unsuccessful because it was not authorized - the 20$ she did manage to charge to my card, only $6 will be refunded because parking... I have stayed in many hotels for business or travel, Best western in Windsor was the most hassle I have had to endure. I got a room with a king-sized bed - the rooms are very small, similar to hotels you would find in NYC and despite the height, traffic from below can be heard. I will not be returning nor recommending this hotel to those who visit Windsor

    « Best Best Western »

Great place to stay in Windsor. I will stay here in the future. I stayed here when it was a Hilton. It is even better now. Great views of the river and Detroit. Walking distance to everywhere I wanted to go.

« Great Rooms, Awesome Views of Water, Lousy Breakfast »

My friends and I came here for a girls weekend. The hotel itself is very nice, great rooms, good service, beautiful views of the waterfront, convenient location, but the breakfast was definitely lacking. They advertise it as a full breakfast, and in essence it is. They have warm dishes, including waffles which were good, as well as your usual cold cereal, toast, bagels, some apples and pears. My complaint was with the eggs, which I don't think were really eggs. I think they were some kind of powder mix because the texture was strange. They also had sausage, which were great big fat links that were awful! We didn't even eat them the second morning.

    « Detroit fun Canada Price's »

Family went to a Detroit Red Wings game and stayed at the BW in Windsor. Great choice. Wonderful breakfast. Kids enjoyed the simple pool. View from our room was to die for of the Detroit skyline. And prices were well below that of the US competition. Will stay again if I'm up that way.

    5
    « Nice »

Really enjoyed my two night stay here. The pool and workout area has a beautiful view. The room was clean and large with very comfortable bed and bedding. The breakfast was amazing with a large variety from fresh-made waffles to eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereals and pastries. The tea and coffee offered all day was also appreciated. The staff was perfect and I would love to go back one day. The only negative thing I can say is that the parking is across the street in a city garage and you have to pay extra for that. All in all, 5 stars.

    5
    « great view »

We stayed at this hotel for one night. We were not expecting such a nice room with a great view of the river. We wish we could have stayed longer. Staff are soo friendly and helpful. It has a great breakfast. So much to choose from.

    4
« Convenient to the casino, performing arts centre, greyhound »

I was at this hotel for business for two nights. The check-in was smooth and an upgrade was provided upon request. I was on the 12th floor and had a view of the Detroit skyline. My room had a queen bed. The layout is a little unusual and there is not a comfortable place to watch the television due to the angle of the bed. As well, without drawing the curtain properly, you will be sharing the view with your neighbour! The desk was large enough to work at, fridge worked well and ice was on the same floor. The hotel was clean. The breakfast area is very busy in the morning, offered scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, waffles (pre-made in a warmer) and make yourself, juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit and hot and cold cereals. The staff are very good about replenishing all areas. The parking was a bit of an issue, you must exit the front lobby entrance, make your way along a one way street to find the parking lot at the back of the hotel. I opted to pay the extra for the onsite parking. The alternative offered is in the parking garage across the street from the backdoor parking lot. Staff were pleasant at all interactions.

    « Overnight business travel »

Very nice hotel ( I think it used to be the Hilton), all rooms have fantastic views and are pleasantly decorated . It is a work in progress as they are remodeling the lobby Bar and restaurant. Parking is out back at $12.00 per day

    « Birthday Trip! »

I went here for my friends birthday weekend and it was perfect! Very nice and clean and the service was friendly. It was also right down the road from the strip (walking distance) which saved us gas, the trouble of paying for parking, and we got to enjoy everything differently. 10/10 would do again.

    2
« Yes there were bed bugs »

I usually check before I book a room, but this was done by a colleague. If I had checked, I would not have stayed here. I was there for just one evening and when I got home, I found the tell-tale sign of a bed bug bite on my wrist. 3 bites in a row. Extremely itchy. Room 808. Crossing my fingers I didn't bring any home.

« If you like a little peace and quiet, stay here!!! »

Last trip to Windsor I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, but it was full of 19 and 20 year old kids wanting to go bar hopping. The Best Western is for ADULTS, and is better priced, no drunken teenagers. If you want a spectacular view and a peaceful night's sleep, stay here. Only two things they need to improve, which is not a deal breaker for me. 1) put exhaust fans in the bathrooms 2) the "full" breakfast needs much improvement, as it is basically already cold before it even gets on your plate. Upside: the staff is fantastic, great fitness room and the internet didn't crash on me one time. I will be staying there again.

    5
    « Wonderful Stay »

Had a wonderful experience at the Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel. Great staff always willing to help out. Hotel very busy but handled it very well and with professionalism. Breakfast was delicious! Lots to choose from. Will stay again and will definitely recommend. The view Amazing.

    « Awesome View »

The room was very clean and the staff was super friendly!! This location had a very inviting atmosphere... The bartender Audrey was very nice along with the young waitress working with her. We will definitely be back for another stay.

« GREAT ROOM AND STAFF »

Booked a room for a Friday night. The staff and room were gorgeous. The king bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Room so clean. The view was out of this world. Coffee in room was premium and all amenities were upscale. A big thank you to Amelia who helped in the booking of this property. She was outstanding.

    5
    « Great staff/clean hotel »

excellent friendly staff on check in, clean rooms, great breakfast buffet. Parking is a bit cumbersome, had to leave hotel and walk to public parking garage. covered walkway under construction and unavailable. would recommend hotel stay

    4
    « Great View »

The Hotel overlooked the Detroit skyline and was close to the downtown Windsor business core. The breakfast has a large variety of options and was plentiful. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and check-in was quick.

    2
« An OK stay at best »

The only compliment I have about the hotel is its view (we're on the 21st floor and it's river front). At check-in, the guy at the front desk literally made me wait for a good 5 minutes or so, because he apparently had to finish some unfinished stuff for someone else. While he "apologized", he didn't say that with any eye contact, so to me, that really couldn't count and he really didn't meant whatsoever. It was really just to acknowledge my standing right in front of him waiting and saying "I know you're here waiting but you'll just have to wait until I finish". Then the so called "newly renovated" room really isn't that new at all. It even still has the stale smell! Then at night, when we tried to turn on the heater, it instantly smelled liked burning, literally like something's on fire kind of burning. So strong that I was even worried that the fire alarm would go off. We had to turn on the AC to get rid of the burning smell. Then came the breakfast time in the morning. I was looking for something similar to that at Hampton's, since it's hot breakfast. Oh my wasn't it just so disappointing. The scramble egg was beyond bland, and there's no salt and pepper (unless I completely missed it). I didn't try any of the bread or English muffin, as there's no while wheat/ grain options available. (I didn't try the sausages either to be fair) It was so bland that I almost wanted to stop by at a Tim Horton's for another breakfast. I'd not recommend or return next time.

    4
    « Good View »

Everything was so good but a little bit dark in the room. Elevator has some problem... please check them.... Bleakfast was good but how about prepare an Oriental food...... The coffee in the lobby was very impressive. There was not information about city...like maps ...

    4
    « Comfortable »

I was here for business and enjoyed my stay. There was a nice hot breakfast and overall the accommodation was pleasant. Good value and location to downtown and the Casnio. I would definitely return again.

    « Recent overnight stay »

Pros: beautiful riverside location; friendly and helpful check-in staff; nice, modern room; close to tunnel or bridge to U.S.; parking garage close by Cons: Exterior could use an update; Breakfast - really nice breakfast room that serves very mediocre food (rubber eggs, pale bacon, cardboard waffles) on paper plates with tiny plastic utensils and plastic juice cups. Is it too much to ask to have REAL plates and cutlery?

    5
« Beautiful View of the Park and Waterfront »

Hubby and I decided to stay at the Best Western Waterfront Hotel in Windsor as we were going to see the Alice Cooper Concert at Caesars. This hotel is really nice. Our view was amazing. Our room was clean, comfortable and as we were on the 17th floor, we had an amazing view of the Detroit river and park below. I will definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Windsor. Service was great and the free breakfast was filling. There was always coffee and tea in the lobby and a coffee pot and fridge in our room.

    5
    « Great View. »

The view is beautiful from the top floor . Gardens in the park are incredible. I wanted to keep the blinds open the entire time we were in the room. The skyline in Detroit at night is amazing . The bed was comfort and the coffee was great. Only one issue is the elevators are not all running so going down I waited 15 min and stopped on every floor. Not fun if your trying to get to breakfast . Left the room at 9:45 and got down for breakfast at 10:05 and of course it is all gone. I did like the hotel and will stay here again.

    2
    « Not worth it!!!! »

After staying at the best western we will not return for any visits to windsor. Rooms were old looking. Newer items but still old. They still have the older model wall mount ac units which are loud and poor at best. There are 3 elevators and you wait a long time for one. We were on the 15th floor so not much of a option but to wait. There is no lobby bar or restaurant to eat at or have a drink. Counter staff were not happy to be there. We checked in at about 3pm on Friday afternoon the 30th and staff was miserable. Not at all worth the almost 200bucks to stay.

    4
    « Great hotel »

Stayed here for a family wedding in Windsor. Very nice clean room and hotel. Beds were super comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was horrible - how scrambled can taste so bad and be served as such was unbelievable. Would have loved to be able to pay for a good breakfast. Complimentary should not equal bad. But we did not come for the breakfast. We would definitely come back for the hotel. Service and employees were friendly and quick.

    5
« Great view and great beds »

We stayed here on our way to the States. We took the 24hour special for $129 night. Great rate and beautiful view. The beds are awesome. Very comfortable. Would highly recommend this hotel. Right beside it is the Keg. Perfect service.

    5
    « View - simply stunning »

Attended a 3 day conference in August. Reception area was welcoming, check in was fast. Room was clean and wonderfully cool as it was 33 Degrees every day. The view from my room was the skyline of Detroit and was breathtaking.

    4
    « Great hotel with a view »

Went to Windsor for a show and booked the Best Western to stay over. The room was great and had a great view of river and the city of Detroit. The staff were friendly and the complementary breakfast was great. There is no on-premises parking but there is a parking lot across the street and the hotel will provide a parking permit for your stay for an additional cost which is charged to the room.

    3
« Great beds, poor service. »

Stayed for 4 nights for a family wedding. The beds were absolutely lovely - the best so far. Unfortunately the air conditioning was noisy, & the desk staff were less than helpful. Standard answer for every question was "no" or "I don't know ". And really?? Poor quality paper plates and flimsy plastic cutlery in the dining room??

    4
« Fantastic views of detroit »

We stayed here for a friends wedding. The room was spacious and with fantastic views across the river to Detroit. Breakfast was chaotic on the Monday as it was Labor Day, and the hotel needs to be more prepared for busy days. Location was great and hotel very clean. I just loved the view

    « Loved the BW »

Went here for any over night trip to see a show at the casino. Lobby was very nice, modern and clean. Check in was a breeze with a pleasant staff. Room very comfortable, nice bed, and plenty of space. Standard bathroom, nothing bad about it, nothing over the top. The free breakfast was decent and a surprise since in most cities you are paying for your breakfast. The location, as mentioned in previous reviews is great. Close to many restaurants and only about a 10 minute walk to the casino. I will defiantly stay here again when visiting Windsor.

    4
« Good view and location »

Went with a large group and the hotel was very accommodating. The rooms are neat and modern. Breakfast was below average at best. Has a nice view of the river and the location is very convenient being right downtown.

    « Recent reunion stay »

55th nurses reunion stay. Everything was absolutely great!! I had a room with a panoramic view of the river and Detroit skyline, and it was fabulous. My sister, who resides in Windsor, booked this exact room for her anniversary!

    « Beautiful Hotel »

We really enjoyed our stay here - the hotel/room were beautifully appointed. We had a room with a river view which was super. The décor of the room was fabulous; colours, drapes, bed linen, wallpaper pictures. It was very clean as was the whole hotel. The staff were very pleasant, welcoming and eager to serve, especially Stephanie who helped us tremendously with our dining requirement. The breakfast room/lounge was very roomy and designed to accommodate a large number of guests. The breakfast was super; food fresh and plentiful. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Windsor for a concert. It was the perfect location for a concert at Caesar's - we were able to walk there and back.

    4
    « Amazing Location! »

Focusing on the positives, this hotel is perfectly situated and has breathtaking views. The Windsor riverfront continues to improve and kudos to parks and rec for making it so beautiful and usable. This hotel has accommodating and friendly staff and a very generous breakfast. The suite I stayed in was large and comfortable but could use some refreshing. I liked the large tv and a quality bed.

    4
    « overnite stay »

We stopped in at this hotel on our way to Toronto. Great clean renovated room. The tv was not clear and the sound was bad. Need new TV. Great breakfast options and presentation. The eggs were cooked so dry and the bacon was way under-cooked.

« Mom and Daughter reminiscing trip »

I am writing this review while we are still staying at The B W Windsor .... The Good ; Most of the staff are wonderful Audrey and all the other staff in the kitchen go above and beyond to help make you feel comfortable in fact Audrey and I have become friends , any staff we met in the hallways where very polite and helpful and our house keeper on the 17 floor is just such a sweet lady and very good at her job, Stephanie at the front desk is another wonderful employees. The not so good ; There are a few staff at the front desk seem a bit more intarested in there own doing then helping guest ( this has happened more then twice as I would not mention if it where less ) VERY DISAPPOINTED; With there advertising team , it states there is a Bar /Restaurant There is not ! not yet, they have been saying for ages soon soon so the staff tell us . one of the reasons we booked our 10 night stay here is because there was a Bar/Restaurant so if we just wanted to stay home we could , My Mom has a walker so not easy for us to walk to far so we need to get a taxi just to eat which adds up plus we wanted to have some night to just stay in , we have not said anything to staff as its not there fault its head office and Advertising staff as on the web site it states there is a Bar/Restaurant , so please either change your website or give a gift voucher per night for the inconvenience. But all and all we are loving our stay here.?????? and that's because of the great staff they have here .

« Beautiful Interiors but not worth it »

Beautiful lobby and rooms and elevators, Friendly staff and beautiful decor for a refurbished hotel. ( It used to be the Raddison,we had stayed there and had a pleasant stay at $100 a night) The beds must be the same ones only older and about as comfortable as sleeping in the car. Breakfast was good and lots of variety but at $189 a night state taxes plus room tax was outrageous Its noisy and we were awakened by loud talking all through out the night and e were on the 19th floor. I wouldn't stay there again if it was the last place on earth. They had just sprayed the room with some kind of insecticide not really strong but still not a pleasant smell. The heater cooling was noisy and only made the odors worse.

    4
« Good location on the riverfront »

Location was excellent. Right on the river front and close to downtown area. Parking across the street in garage was convenient but was an extra charge. We were not informed of the construction on the front of the hotel which caused some check in problems. There was a large wedding party at the hotel and they monopolized the breakfast area. The hotel made no accommodations for the large crowd. Indoor pool looked clean although we did not use it.

    5
    « Top Notch »

First time stay at this hotel. Very impressed. Front desk staff were very helpful and check in was a breeze. Room was spotless and loved the added touch of a makeup wipe in the bathroom. Had a river view room with king bed and it was spectacular. We will be back.

« Nice hotel, terrible breakfast »

Nicely situated hotel, great views of the river, riverfront and Detroit. Staff are very friendly and helpful, but the free breakfast is awful. You deserve better, go buy breakfast somewhere else. Otherwise, nice place.

« Great location and value »

We stayed here to see a concert at Caesars Windsor. The hotel is in an excellent location, our room had a panoramic view that was awesome, the bed was comfortable but a small "queen" and the room was clean. Parking is $12.00 and located behind the hotel, very easy to find. The breakfast was okay, the hot selections scrambled eggs, sausage and coffee were gross but everything else was good, the attendant was very attentive with stocking up. Would definitely stay again, for the price it was great.

« Great location, great value »

Spent an evening here to break up a trip from Milton to Chicago. Great location with fantastic views of the riverfront and the Detroit skyline. Room was very clean and updated. Beds are a very personal / subjective matter, these particular ones weren't my cup of tea (too rigid and high in the centre), but clearly others have not had any issues. Parking required some navigation for the walk back to the hotel, just follow the signs and you'll be fine - or walk directly from the parking building to the hotel at the street level. Additional $12 fee, my vehicle was safe and undisturbed. Free breakfast was more than adequate and appreciated. All the stuff you would expect - juices, cereals, bacon/sausage, eggs, bread etc... The value and location make this hotel easy to recommend.

« Terrible service, making a bad situation worse »

Booked the hotel in March using a Trip Advisor-recommended online travel site, Hoteling. Was coming to Windsor for a friend's wedding; there seemed to be a lot going on the weekend of our visit so the wedding party was not able to block enough rooms for out of town guests at this hotel, and it was recommended that all guests try to stay here. Bestwestern.com did not show availability for Saturday night and calling the hotel direct didn't provide a different result. Hoteling, a company that came up in a search on Trip Advisor's site (not an ad that linked out), showed two rooms available at $130/night; a friend and I booked right away, as we were both in the wedding party and wanted our spouses to be at the same hotel. Fast forward 6 months to September and we arrive Friday afternoon to check in, only to find out that our rooms were cancelled by Hoteling, who apparently has gone bankrupt. Hoteling had already charged our credit cards for our rooms. This definitely was our problem and we cannot and do not fault the hotel for this. The hotel staff seemed to have knowledge of Hoteling's bankruptcy and expected to see us, as if they had experienced this with guests before. We were advised that Hoteling had cancelled our rooms and there was not a replacement reservation made for us. A customer-focussed and proactive hotel would have contacted its guests prior to arrival, since guest personal information was on file, and asked if they were aware of the room cancellation and if they needed to have a new reservation made. Instead we were presented with the news upon arrival and told we could be accommodated Friday night but not Saturday night, as they were full. Our names would be put on a cancellation list in case someone did not show up or checked out early. Having little choice at this point and being late for the wedding rehearsal, we checked in for the one night and hoped something would open up. This fiasco had us miss the wedding rehearsal and put us in trouble with the bride and her family. We woke up Saturday morning around 7 wondering if our luck would change and we wouldn't be forced to call around town to find a new hotel. We were required to meet the groom at 9 am to prepare the day's festivities so we did not have time to mess around. I called the front desk to see if a room had become available and was told that one had indeed freed up but but it was the last one. I asked why we weren't called, being on the cancellation list, but was told that others had called ahead and taken the other rooms. I notified my friend of this and he went down to the front desk to confirm what I had already told him. He then tried looking online for options, even though I told him that he and his wife could stay in our room with one bed, if nothing could be found. Bestwestern.com showed a room available; he asked the front desk again if they had a room, since it showed online, and he was told no. He booked the room on his phone in front of the agent who then, almost immediately, said "oh look, I guess there was a room available." Problem solved. Naturally, our room rate was not the same as what we booked through Hoteling...Friday was $230 and Saturday was $260. We asked if we could have the wedding rate that was offered to other out of town guests, $170/night, and the agent chuckled to himself and said "no, that is no longer available to you and we can sell this room for $100 more than what you are already paying." I certainly agree with the principle of supply and demand, but I also agree that customer service overrides this if one values its reputation. If we weren't in a situation where our reservation was cancelled and we were standing in their doorway wondering what to do, asking a ransom rate would be in order. If you show up without a prior reservation or are booking at the last minute, you have the option to accept or pass. We weren't quite in that position, although we probably could have slept in a car or out of city limits. Situations like this show a company's true colours. Instead of taking a bad situation and coming out like a hero - calling ahead/holding a room in case we show/trying a little harder to accommodate - the Best Western Waterfront in Windsor made a bad situation worse. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone and will avoid the Best Western chain whenever possible in any city. I will also be forwarding my experience to executive colleagues who work in the automobile industry in Windsor, which is a major part of the city, so they may recommend other hotel options to visitors and vendors when visiting Windsor. And shame on Trip Advisor...they should really align themselves with better companies if allowing users to book travel through their site. Now, to try and get my original booking money back through the credit card company.

    « Always a Great Stay »

Just returned from an overnight at the Best Western Plus and once again had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff is very friendly and so helpful. In fact, remembered us from a previous visit a few years ago! We arrived earlier than we intended and they were able to put us into a room quickly. In fact, the ladies at reception contacted housekeeping and asked if they could please rush with the cleaning of our room. The room was very clean and we had a fabulous view of the waterfront. The buffet breakfast was quite substantial and again, staff were on hand to help. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will return. Thanks for a great stay.

« My recent stay at Best Western in Windsor Canada »

Excellent location and excellent hotel. Very clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very convenient, and the Internet service was very good. The parking lot is right behind the main hotel building, but that did not present a problem, as the parking tower had a bridge to get to the hotel main lobby. The view was wonderful from my window.

    « Not a hotel as such »

The view is really quite stunning and the room was very cheap, so I don't want to be totally negative here. It may be just right for some guests and perhaps my expectations were too high. But the hotel is not really a hotel at all, with almost no staff and offering almost no services. There's no doorman or valet parking service, with the parking arrangement in another building being confusing and difficult especially if you're travelling alone. Actually, it wouldn't be great for a family either. People park their cars right up against the front door and in the second lane, and slowly unload, leaving other cars with nowhere to go but on the busy road. Then they haul out carts for luggage themselves. It's a startling introduction. There are no bellhops. There is no room service. There is no restaurant. The front desk staff are rude. There is nothing in the mini-bar. The breakfast buffet was unspeakable; I don't know how it's possible to make scrambled eggs that bad. Water came out of the orange juice machine. There was no staff to clean up the tables. (The plates are paper and the utensils are plastic, which seems really wasteful.) The ceilings are so low that I don't think a really tall person could stay here. The air conditioning was so loud in the room that it was difficult to talk but at least it functioned. I could go on. It's a place to stay overnight, and the park outside the hotel is lovely. But that's it. I now see why people like AirBnb. If a hotel offers you nothing, why not stay in a smaller more comfortable place for less money? So stay here by all means, but it's eccentric and not really a hotel at all, more like a highway roadside motel but taller.

« Always a pleasure to stay at »

We have stayed here several times over the last couple years, recently this summer while enjoying one of the festivals in downtown Windsor. The hotel has changed names and is now owned and operated by Best Western and the renovations are fantastic. We always like staying in the panorama rooms and they have a view second to none. The staff have always been extremely helpful and the rooms clean.

Overall our stay at this hotel was very enjoyable and the location was awesome! Would gladly stay there again. My only complaint was that the staff could have explained the parking garage and how to use the pass card.

« Great Hotel, amazing views »

We loved the views and the location of this hotel. Enjoyed walking along the waterfront. Highly recommend this hotel. Close to everything we needed. Beds are very comfortable too. We will stay here again for sure.

Best Western Waterfront is an excellent hotel , Great King room very spacious and very comfortable bed with phenomenal waterfront view of Detroit city and river! Including a big breakfast and easy access..

    « Great »

Great Hotel with a nice view of Detroit. Pool is good but the whole pool is only 3.5 feet deep, There is also a sauna. There is a big breakfast too. It is also very close to the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel Bus and Caesars.

« Great Stay by the river »

Best Western Riverfront is an excellent hotel. All rooms have an amazing view of the river and Detroit skyline. Breakfast is included in the stay and was very fresh and hot. No complaints about this hotel will return next time I am in Windsor.

« Very comfortable but skip the breakfast »

A group of six spent our weekend in Windsor to attend an Art show in Lasalle just outside the city. It was a very busy hotel with eight weddings! Our two rooms were good. Nice beds and it was clean. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. Nice view of the waterfront despite the rainy stormy weekend. The only two negatives were parking and the complementary breakfast. The food was not good and the parking was a city lot that was crowded. Windsor could use some more hotels.

    4
    « great room »

The rooms were comfortable and quiet and decorated nicely. The breakfast, not so great. great views of the river and Detroit. not much space at the door for checking in or loading. parking on the block behind hotel.

    « Just as advertised »

We stayed here as a more economical option to Caesars as we were going to a comedy show. The hotel is exactly as its profile states. The room was spacious and clean. The fridge was convenient and the view was pretty. The buffet breakfast is in the lobby-crowded but adequate. Directly across the street is the waterfront. You can access the walking path easily by walking across the street. The only drawback is the parking. I recommend- if the weather is ok- not to use the covered walkway. It takes you through a maze to get back to the hotel. Instead, go down to the main level of the parking garage by elevator and walk across the street.

    5
« Great rooms AND service »

King room very spacious and very comfortable bed. Friendly staff! Great complimentary breakfast and hard working kitchen manager keeping breakfast buffet fully stocked during busy times. Pricing is very reasonable, too.

    4
« Excellent view of Detroit river »

This hotel is right next to the water. You can see the Detroit river from the hotel window. It is also the closest hotel to the Adventure Bay Waterpark where you can literately walk over. The Caesar's casino is a good 2 minute walk as well. Parking is an extra charge of $12 and it is located in the public parking garage across the street. Tip for when you check in and out the hotel has a lot right behind hotel where you can load and unload luggage. Breakfast had good selection and decor was welcoming. Would stay here again if going to the waterpark.

    5
« Best view in Windsor »

The panoramic view of the river front park, the river and of downtown Detroit (especially by night) is amazing. The location puts the hotel in walking distance of everything you could want to see or do.

    4
    « AMAZING VIEW »

We were on the 22nd floor and had view of the river and Detroit. it was our 1st time to Windsor and would stay here again. The only problem was the was an bad odor in our room but our view was the pay off for not saying anything.

« Great Location and Value »

With (surprisingly) scenic views of Detroit, across the road from a riverside park, walking distance of Caesar's and a hot breakfast, there's no better value in downtown Windsor. Parking won't break the bank but is not included in your stay. The garage behind the hotel can be charged to your room if requested at check-in. Be sure to use the unloading parking spaces behind the hotel as the skyway walk connecting the hotel to the garage is out of the way and indirect (just walk across the street after parking for the night). A decent sized indoor waterpark is next door but not included. The breakfast "buffet" is the typical hot complementary selection but is a nice start to the day.

    4
« Very nice, modern and conveniently located »

Very clean and modern upscale hotel. Wonderful views of the river and Detroit skyline. Full breakfast included. The rooms are very large but the king bed we had was too soft and bouncy. Parking is in a garage immediately behind hotel for $12 a day with in and out priveleges. Short walk to Caesars and the waterfront is right across the street.

    « over night getaway »

The room was very nice ,the view of the river was amazing, breakfast was not bad. we walked to the casino along the river. We would stay again. The staff was friendly. Parking was in the back of the building . Charge was $12.00 for one day

« Hotel okay, not impressed with reservation process »

Hotel was okay. Room fine. Our Riverview was partially blocked, but that was fine as it was a last minute reservation. Bed comfy. Our issue was with our reservation. I made a last minute booking and typically steer clear of online reservations as I like to personally book. I called the hotel directly and was cut of mid-sentence by the receptionist and sent to the 1-800 line. The 1-800 line then had to locate the hotel for me and charged me more than what I found online. After asking, I was able to get a Costco membership discount. I was frustrated and accepted. Upon arriving at the hotel, I tried to upgrade to a King size bed, but this was not a simple task as "I booked through reservation line and should have done so through the hotel". Apparently the computer has a hard time altering online reservations done through the 1-800 number. The receptionist was sweet and made the effort and got me a king size bed upgrade, but the charge was more than what was posted on the internet. "There was nothing she could do." and at this point, I was frustrated and paid the extra. The other concern was with the construction in the area by the parking. I understand this may not be the hotel's area exactly, but this is the parking area that the hotel tells their guests to park at. The walkway and entrance to the lobby was horrible. The elevator was covered in debris, dust and construction supplies. I was wondering if we were even in the right place. Someone could have at least taken a vacuum to the place occasionally. My bags were covered in dust.

« Very nice Best Western with Beautiful View »

Nice place, would recommend it for the views...rooms not too big but beds are very comfortable. FYI: Parking is 12$ and they do not tell you this when they tell you where to park. That is my only real criticism.

« Clean and great location »

On our family vacation headed towards the states it was a wonderful stop over right downtown where there was tons of restaurants to go to. Toastys was amazing you'll have to try it if you go. Hotel itself is very clean beds were very comfortable kids enjoyed the pool and I thought the workout room was really well-equipped better than most.

« Beautiful hotel horrible front desk staff »

I was at the hotel for a week for business. When I checked in there was difficulty with my reservation. I explain the situation and show them the booking and was informed repeatedly that they didn't have the information. Having stayed at several best westerns previously I knew the information had been faxed to them prior to me being checked in and after having to argue with Angela at the front desk for 15 minutes she finally agreed to check to see if The fax that arrived. Once she did that I was able to check in. Every time I needed anything and had to speak to anyone working at the front desk it seemed like I was bothering them. The least courteous courtesy desk I have ever seen. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are great. I will never stay at this hotel again. In 10 years of travel for work and hundreds of hotels this is the worst by far experience I've ever had.

    4
    « Great location »

Close to most things and across the road are beautiful parks and walking paths. Hotel rooms are quite nice, but our view was mainly a brick wall. A skyline view of Detroit would of been nice. Breakfast buffet was nice and seating area well appointed. The bus terminal is just around the corner and so easy to get to Devonshire mall.

    « Summer get away »

We stayed at the Best Western Waterfront hotel. The rooms to get are the panoramic view, worth the money. The free breakfast is a busy place in the morning. You my want to pick a off time as find a seat and table is a chore. Parking in the rear parking garage across the street which costs $12.00 a day.Upon arrival drive to the rear of hotel to REGISTER and UNLOAD your car. We seen people bringing luggage out of the parking garage >Da. They need a handicap parking area on the ground level at the rear of the hotel. Also ramp onto rear of hotel .We seen several people trip over steps with luggage. A Shuttle to the casino would be a asset..We went to a show there.. We would stay again..

    « This is a gem »

Great location if going to Detroit or casinos. Beautiful room, very romantic and what a 360 degree view of Detroit river. Bed was cosy and pillows a little soft. Very friendly staff, especially during breakfast buffet. They kept everything clean and made sure to replenish anything that was empty. Will definitely be biditing this hotel again.

Friendly service, clean rooms and a great view through dirty windows. Close to park and casino, and dining. The walk from the parking garage was a little creepy. All things considered, well worth the price.

    « Geat Deal »

I booked this hotel through expedia because it was chraper than going through hotel website. The hotl was perfectly located, as we were only there for the Waterpark. So between waterpark, waterfront walking, and parking lot, it was all a 3 minute walk from hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly. They remembered our names each day we walked throught lobby. Lobby is basic but beautiful and clean. Rooms were spacious enough for my family of 3. Wifi is free, automatic connection. We had rental car, there are limited restaurants within walking distance. The local restaurants were not very appealing. my family ate at them due to lack of options but were not impressed. So you will need a car for better food options. Hotel is in front of bus terminal local and greyhound but there were no problems or concerns with that.

« Could be better, maybe? »

My first title was going to be Worst Western, really. I've stayed other places and felt when I arrived comfortable, no angst or anything. Glenn assisted us with our room reservations and was told as I had requested a king size bed, also requested a microwave in the room, wasn't there upon arrival. I've never seen a small KING size bed until this weekend at this hotel. There wasn't any fussing because the property was sold out because of a baseball tournament. My children waited until Saturday to get in the pool because the property was overrun with kids, barefoot all over the place including the pool. The water was gray and murky, really. They didn't get in I couldn't blame them. Glenn informed me when we were leaving that was there version of a king size bed. Their version. The views were okay, nothing else because of the angle of the room. Breakfast was okay. I'll definitely come back to Canada its wonderful, the people, shopping, hospitality outside the hotel was great. But I will look for a better hotel or just drive on to Toronto. Stephanie , hotel clerk, was very helpful, friendly, gave us good directions to the mall and restaurants.

« BEST VALUE IN WINDSOR »

Partial view of the river, very friendly reception, continental breakfast & clean, professional hotel.. You can walk downtown for entertainment/food or walk right across the street for a visit to riverside. I think this is the best value in all of Windsor. My only complaint is lack of parking, otherwise a fantastic hotel!! Would recommend & return!

    5
« Wonderful place to stay »

We really enjoyed our stay. We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival. A wonderful surprise. Hotel was close to restaurants and local attractions, and boasted a beautiful view of the river. Would definitely recommend this hotel and can not wait to stay there again.

« Great views and nice breakfast buffet »

Nice employees, very helpful. Great view of Detroit. Rooms clean and comfortable with room to move around, not cramped like some hotels. Nice breakfast buffet, if you get there early. Price was great too! Close to restaurants and shops, all within walking distance. Riverwalk runs right in front of hotel (across the street). Only draw back is parking is behind hotel, but there was a walkway across.

    4
    « Great view »

Comfortable beds, blackout curtains, room faces the river for a nice view of the bridge or the casino. Room has fridge and coffee maker. Good sized room with chair and separate desk/chair, nice big modern TV. Bathroom had all the amenities including bar soap but not liquid body soap. This hotel was previously a Hilton and was sold (downgraded) to Best Western. Parking is extra and costs $14/day at the garage in the back of the hotel. Easy walk to riverfront and the Ouellette which is the main street and the casino (10 minutes). We stayed two nights and breakfast was a chore, lots of people in one area and it was always congested. They had scrambled eggs, pork sausage, cereal, waffle maker (they actually need two because the wait was always four or five deep), cereal, yogurt, bread, bagels. Did not see danishes but did find one lonely croissant. Would stay there again

    4
« Great location for a short family trip »

Just enjoying a brief overnight stay while we were going to visit Adventure Bay. We opted for this hotel, despite being a bit pricier, and seemingly not having any tickets for the water park (more on that later). Check in was smooth, despite the construction out front, and to our pleasant surprise, they did have discounted tickets to the water park. The room was modern and clean, maybe a bit cramped, but it would easily work for one night with the 4 of us. One small complaint, while the window view did overlook the river and Detroit, it was so foggy, it was difficult to get a really nice, clear view. The pool was excellent, not many people there so we had it largely to ourselves. As other have commented, the breakfast was average at best, the basic yogurt and fruit all worked but the pastries, eggs and meat were both kept in limited supply and not the greatest tasting, though edible. Go for the location and pool, not the breakfast.

    4
    « Windsor - Best Western »

In general the staff is well appointed, service fast and satisfactory, quick service at the front desk. Parking is remote, across the street - issue in bad weather. Breakfast menu a little bit limited, when more guests - need to wait for re-supply of items consmed

An excellent hotel in the heart of Windsor. Clean spacious room overlooking the Detroit River. Friendly staff, great amenities. The free breakfast was a pleasant surprise. We will definitely return. Thank you for making our stay pleasant.

« Never Again at this Hotel »

Piss poor quality for the price paid and the experience for uncaring staff. Wet moldy smelling carpet for the ten foot entrance into room and lack of concern from the hotel staff. Did not offer to me to change rooms, nor even a token of compensation for putting up with the smell and wetness. Only provide a very loud noisy fan that will not dry the carpet overnight. The carpet was wet enough to need professional water extraction.

« Good location, nice view! »

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Waterfront hotel for three nights. We are a family of four and booked two rooms. Originally, we planned to stay just one night, but added two more the day of check-in due to last-minute changes to our accommodation plans. We were certainly appreciative of the hotel's ability to accommodate us at the same price on such late notice. We paid an average of $320/night, via Expedia. The first night was booked two months in advance. The rooms were maybe a little smaller than a typical Best Western, but the view of the Detroit River was spectacular. We had a lot of business in Windsor and didn't spend much time in our rooms. The rooms were very comfortable and modern. They had bar fridges, which were convenient. The room booking included breakfast, which included a good selection of hot and cold food. We used it all three mornings. I'm told that the bathtub plugs didn't work in either room. The rooms included Wi-Fi at no additional charge. Staff were all very friendly. Check-in was a little tricky because they were resurfacing their driveway, which meant we had to park in the driveway of the building next door and leave at least one person with the car. In addition, the overnight parking is across the street out the back. It is connected by a walkway, but it is a long, winding route through seemingly abandoned corridors. The trip required an elevator ride part way through. We also found after check-out that our parking pass had expired the previous day, but we were able to get that sorted out easily. Overall, the Best Western met our needs. I would stay here again and probably wouldn't spend much time looking for a better place to stay. Given that 4 out of 5 is effectively my highest rating, I wish I could give it a 3.5. This is definitely higher than a 3.

    4
« Good hotel, good view, great price »

The staff was polite, check in and out were quick and easy. The room was a decent size, not huge but good enough for our group. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The only issue I have is that the sign out front doesn't clearly mark it as a Best Western. We had a difficult time finding it. Is within walking distance to the casino, which is what we wanted as we were attending a concert there.

    2
« More like Best Western Minus »

Pros: 1. Staff was courteous 2. View of the river and Detroit was nice Cons: 1. The hotel signage outside was not clearly marked as a Best Western, so I could not find it. 2. If you need to get a good rest, don't stay here. Too many kids and partying people all around making lots of noise, even into the wee hours. 3. Breakfast was awful.

    1
    « Very poor »

The only good thing about this place is the view over the river. The staff are rude and unhelpful and the hotel has no bar. The breakfast was inedible. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless the location was essential. I guess that's because Best Western is a franchise and this place is a pretty poor example.

    5
« The BEST Best Western »

This is the best Best Western my husband and I have stayed at. The free breakfast had some healthy choices which was a plus for us, though it was a bit of a madhouse during peak breakfast hours. There were lots of places to sit though. The room was very sizeable, and the bed was comfortable. The fridge in the room was a good size, and the coffee maker was standard. The shower had good water pressure and nice hot water. Great view out the window. We were in room 1502 with a partial riverview. The fitness room isn't huge, but it's a cool layout with a full view of the waterfront. The pool is on the 3rd floor with the fitness room, and it is a nice setup though it's only 3.5 ft deep. The women's restroom/locker room in the pool area had a nice sauna and changing room area. There was also a nice waterfront boardwalk. We stayed here after seeing a show at Caesars, and the front desk was staffed even after midnight to check us in. Parking is $12 with in/out privileges in a garage behind the hotel.

    « Best Best Western »

This location is hands down the best Best Western location I have stayed at. It is not in a normal motel setting. It is a nice high rise hotel at a solid 3.5 stars, closing in on 4 stars. Great location, right at the Windsor water front. Water front has a nice board walk and a great view of Detroit skyline. Friendly front desk staff. The setting of the breakfast area is spacious, bright with a river view. Breakfast staff is efficient, but less enthusiastic than the front desk staff. All rooms have river view, either facing the Ambassador Bridge or Downtown Detroit. Some rooms in the middle have full river view. Very comfortable beds. Parking is additional $12 plus tax in a covered parking lot behind the hotel. If you are visiting Detroit or Windsor, this hotel is a great choice.

The BW Waterfront is in a good central location for downtown Windsor. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Most of the rooms have a great view of the Detroit skyline. The view from th ehotel is fantastic. The Hotel is great, and its location is wonderful. I had a niece stay. The 2 issues that I may mention are 1. the fitness room was unavailable from 7am- to 5pm ,2. the front of the hotel is in renovation, so there is a problem of parking before check-in.

« Great location. Rooms need a makeover. »

Conveniently located across Dieppe Gardens, the hotel offers a great view of the river and Detroit skyline. It is only minutes away from the Caesar casino resort and restaurants. Rooms are comfortable but furniture are outdated and walls are paper thin. We had loud neighbours playing music in the middle of the night in the rooms on both side of ours. We had to call reception at 2am to ask them to ask these guests to stop, which they did. It probably happens quite often. Breakfast was blah. Crunched space which is not practical when you have large groups showing up for breakfast (there was a school group that day). Scrambled eggs and sausages, bagels and cereals. That was pretty much it.

« Nice, clean rooms with stunningview of the Detroit river »

We booked two rooms for one night - both rooms were clean and tidy. Both rooms also had a stunning view of the Detroit river. In-room fridge. Comfortable beds. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Windsor. Centrally located downtown, next to the river.

    « Will return »

We really enjoyed our stay at the BWP. Apon arriving there was construction out front (we were not aware of this) but we simply pulled up in front of the building beside and went and checked in. Lady at front desk was great..gave us the 20th floor and the two queen beds we requested. She said 1 bed rooms had Panorama view...ours had a partial bit it was still great! At night the lights from across the river was awesome. Room was clean/comfortable...a bit smaller then we are use to but well decorated. The bathroom had all the amenities plus I liked how they even had a travel size make up remover wipes. Breakfast....buffet style: yoghurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, fruit, bagels, toast etc. A good way to start the day. Pool..never used but looked @..on 3rd floor. Didn't seem too big. We would stay here again for sure.

« Best Western Plus Windsor »

Front of the building was under construction, work out rooms were unavailable, water pressure in the basin was nearly non- existent and we had no idea at the time of booking on-line that parking was $12 extra which would have been the cost to stay at the casino where parking was free and that was the main reason for our visit to Windsor. Plus, after paying for the parking, we had trouble with the tickets issued to us coming back invalid.

    « Fireworks Spectacular »

Booked a panorama view room for the Ford Fireworks Show for July 4th. Although the hotel was going through some renovations at the time, having a front row seat to watch the fireworks from my room (actually from the bed) was well worth it. The night weather was beautiful but I opted to watch from my room vs. going outside down by the river across the street. Hotel is ideally located as I walked one block over after the show and was in downtown Windsor. You have to get your name on a list in order to be able to book a room. Booking starts in April of the year you want to go. I hesitate giving this info out because I do not want you to book my room. LOL. Watching the fireworks from the Canadian side gives you the Detroit skyline in the background. Just cannot beat it. Perhaps I will see you after next year's show when going out to get a cocktail is the proper thing to do. Oh Canada!

    « Nice room - great view »

Pleasantly surprised with the view of the water! The building is built so all rooms face the water- which is amazing! The bed were comfy an room clean. We only stayed for the one night to see a concert at the casino (which is walking distance). The breakfast was nothing special but it's free.. We will more than likely be back!

« Waterfront location is great but summer construction..... »

Our room was pleasant and roomy enough for a 2 night stay. We did not notice any noise from neighbours or the hallway despite being almost sold out. Our view of the river was also very pleasant. The dining area is roomy and breakfast was pretty standard as far as what you would expect from hotels offering breakfast as part of the room rate. I must say that I would prefer hotels that offer a sit down breakfast service over the fend for yourself at the buffet options that are so prevalent at most hotels now. While I appreciate having a bite to eat upon wakening, I don't appreciate watery eggs, salt bomb sausages and crumbly bread with no taste whatsoever. It's fine to grab a juice, coffee, muffin and perhaps a banana but when I sit down for a hot breakfast, I would prefer to pay for higher quality menu items and have them prepared and served to my liking. One other note, which will be a temporary issue, is the construction going on at the front of the hotel. The construction site and ongoing work blocked the sign and we missed the hotel on the first two passes. There was no indication on the website or booking site that construction was going on.

    « Windsor best western. »

Nice comfortable place to stay. Plenty of food for breakfast and with walking distance of downtown. Room was clean and view of the Ambassador Bridge was very nice. However the air conditioning was a bit noisy but nothing that would Keep you awake.

    « Spring/Summer Weekend »

What was initially built as a Hilton Hotel in the 80's, this hotel has nicely renovated rooms from past Hotelier with much needed and updated Lobby area. Don't expect a lot of frills but all rooms are a decent size with incredible views. The breakfast included is nothing to write about but good for a quick nibble before you head out. Riverfront parkway and sculpture gardens are directly across the street, definitely go for a nice stroll, jog/ run, bicycle or blade. Overall a good location, comfortable rooms. Lots of kids in the pool.

« Great Hotel in Great Location! »

We stayed here for 2 nights for a family getaway and we had 2 rooms with outstanding views, ample and generous space, and we will visit again. I was very satisfied with the customer service and the breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed by my family.

« Not the 'Plus' you were hoping for »

Needs a lot of improvement. Staff needs to be well trained about hotel's reward promotion. The breakfast is EXTREMELY disappointing. Although there were good things like comfortable beds and pillows, the hotel lacks many of the 'Plusses' it tries to sell to consumers. But Windsor doesn't have a lot of hotel options, some other chains are building new properties. Perhaps that will make BW Plus to go an extra mile for their guests.

« Good if away on business. Reasonable cost, »

Good place to stay if on business. Comfortable bed, clean room, clean bathroom. While not a 5 star hotel, it nevertheless hits all the bases I care about when travelling on business. Parking is a bit inconvenient as you have to park in the parking garage across the street which makes carrying things just that much more difficult.

    « Surprisingly Wonderful! »

Had never stayed here before but had an extremely nice stay. Came from Detroit to watch Fireworks from the Canadian side of the river with 2 young men. We had a great visit. The location was perfect for watching from the room or going outside. The staff was warm and friendly. Everyone was in a warm spirit. Will definitely return for mini-vacations in the future. Complimentary breakfast was a real treat!

« Nice location for fireworks »

The room was nice, clean, comfortable. Had to pay for parking. Did have a view of the river looking south. Usual hotel breakfast. We were there for the annual Ford Motor Co. Fireworks display. Great location for the fireworks.

« 55th Birthday mini vacation in Windsor »

It was my 55th birthday coming up and so I decided to treat myself to a mini vacation. I booked a junior suite at this hotel because I love being so close to the water plus I love watching the ship traffic. Check in was very fast and efficient and I was up to my room in no time. The room itself was huge with lots of windows overlooking the Detroit river and the skyline of Detroit. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on and I was wishing I could have fit that mattress into my car to take home with me. The maid service was done early and properly. The only complaint i would have is after parking in the parking garage across the street behind the hotel the route that you have to follow to get back to the hotel does not make you feel very comfortable. It meanders though a very rundown part of an adjoining building and I would not want to take that route late at night. Other then that I would highly recommend this hotel.

    « Beautiful!! »

This brand new hotel has large, clean, well-appointed rooms and has a gorgeous panoramic view of the Detroit River and the Detroit skyline. You are in the heart of the city of Windsor and near three beautiful gardens. The hotel restaurant is not yet open, but will be a wonderful addition. The breakfast buffet is a nice amenity. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for someplace to stay in Windsor.

    5
    « Good location »

Great location for taking the bus to Detroit Tiger games. Rooms are clean and comfortable and free WiFi is appreciated. Parking lot is motorcycle friendly and safe. The 200 word min limit if frustrating for this review because I said it succinctly above.

« Family Stay in the hotel to attend a wedding. »

Hotel is located at very good location and every room has river view which is very beautiful and soothing. Hotel is very neat and clean and the staff is very courteous. If I visit Windsor again, I would prefer to stay in this hotel.

Wonderful location to all amenities. Very clean and highly professional staff. Good size rooms, great water pressure (shower) and comfortable bed. Solid value vs other options available in the downtown core.

« Good stay and nice view »

The room was okay... Standard with nice view of the river and park. Check in was fast but it was difficult making a reservation. I had called 4 times because the first 3 times I called to say that I wanted to make a reservation only to have to be put on hold each time I called in for over 15 mins each before I hung up. Yes I timed it. Finally the 4th time I called Melanie had helped me book a room. I would've booked it on their website but there was an error on their site and couldn't book online.

« Expected more from Best Western »

The room was nice enough, although dated (there were nails & screws in the wall for some reason) and the breakfast buffet was good, but everything else was disappointing. We waited a long time just to check in as three employees were helping one person that didn't even have a reservation at the hotel! They were all trying to help him find other lodging while I waited... and waited. The room itself smelled horrible. There was a hockey tournament in the area and we were right in between 2 rooms of hockey players. The room smelled like a hockey bag, and when the teams arrived back in the early hours of the morning, it was very noisy. When I complained about the smell at the front desk shortly after checking in, I was hoping for either a room switch, or a cost reduction, but neither was offered. The only offer was for someone to come up and spray air refresher in the room. The parking is across the street at the back of the hotel, which is very inconvenient, especially on a cold, rainy day. Our room was advertised as a river view - which was only partially true. The view was mostly blocked by a large wall. Definitely not worth the cost, and would not book there again. I expected much more from a Best Western hotel - a chain I would usually trust.

Had a great room overlooking the river and park. Good included breakfast--not fancy but filling. Pool was refreshing after a day hiking, as was the sauna. Overall, a great base for exploring southwestern Ont.!

    « stay »

At this time I would not recommend this hotel, maybe when all the construction is completed. The breakfast was not laid out in an organized manner but it was fresh and very good. The air condition cove fell off and I repaired it, The ceiling in one area was peeling.

    « Expected Better »

Stayed one night. Entrance was under construction. Had to find rear entrance. Parking is terrible. We used the sleeper sofa. Was terrible. Had to take the mattress off and put it on the floor. Would not stay again unless we had two beds. It was the only room available. We were there for a wedding next door. I mentioned the sofa at check out. They didn't seem to concerned. It a shame because our view was beautiful.??

    « Great View! »

We stayed in one of the "Panoramic River View" rooms. The view was amazing. Who knew the waterfront and skyline of Detroit was so beautiful! The breakfast wasn't the best but it's free and it's a hot meal to get your day started. We chose this hotel more for it's location. Most things are within a few blocks radius.

« overnight stay to see the Blue Jays in Detroit »

we picked this hotel as it was very convenient and close to the border for crossing over to Detroit. We were very pleased to find it was close to the Casino. and also the Bus Station. We were able to catch a Shuttle Bus across the border and for the first time went through the Tunnel to get over to Detroit.

    4
    « Amazing View »

I would recommend this hotel as it has a great view, friendly staff and easy to get places. You can walk right out of the hotel to get to restaurants or down to the waterfront for a great walk. The only thing it didn't have was a hot tub, but the pool room and work out center over look the river.

« Decent hotel, great location »

Since BW took over this hotel, it seems like they're trying to overhaul it, but it's still very much a work in progress. There is still no restaurant, and there is construction going on. The breakfast is horrible - tasteless powdered eggs and sausages are the only hot option. Otherwise, rooms are clean and comfortable, the internet actually works!, and the staff is excellent. The location is beautiful - right on the riverfront with beautiful views.

    « Perfect »

We stayed one night prior to going to the Blue Jays game in Detroit. It was 10 minutes to the parking lot at the ballpark including the border crossing. The hotel was everything we expected. Nice rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent. The location on the waterfront is beautiful and it is a short walk to the casino if you are interested. Parking is $12 in the garage behind the hotel. A bit of construction at the front of the hotel was not a problem. The Keg is right next door. The best WiFi we have seen in a long time.

    « Beware it will cost $12more »

Hotel was nice and clearly renovated at some point. Looks a bit tired in spots (furniture in lounge / restaurant, elevator) There were small annoyances. Our room was supposed to accommodate 4, but only had 3 of everything. (Call down to housekeeping). Parking is in an adjacent lot which was across the street. Be prepared to fork out $12 extra. That was unexpected :( Shower in pool only sprays cold water. Kids didnt like that after swimming. Knob doesnt turn to warm in ladies changeroom. Pool was nice expecially decor and loungers around pool. Very contemporary. Riverview room was nice view & coffee/tea in lounge was very nice. Bed was comfortable! Wish they would include parking. That really soured our stay. $180 for a night in Windsor is too much.

« What a view from BEST WESTERN PLUS Waterfront Hotel »

Its a great location right on the waterfront. Perfect place to ride a bike, rollerblade, walk along the water front looking out to Detroit. Close to some great restaurants along the water. Rooms are clean, breakfast is included. Hot eggs, sausage, bagels , cereals , fruit, coffee and juices.

    « No Power! »

My colleague and I were staying at this location as we were attending the Movement Music Festival in Detroit just across the way. We were attending the festival to do media coverage. During our stay was an apparent SCHEDULED maintenance on Monday, May 30. There was no power throughout the ENTIRE hotel (including the rooms) for 8 hours (9-5), and we were NOT informed upon reservation, nor upon check-in that this would be taking place, despite the fact that it was scheduled! This was extremely detrimental to our operations. We were unable to charge our phones, laptops, get ready as the room was dark, nor was there Wi-Fi. We were unable to do our jobs for media coverage! With no laptop power or Wi-Fi, we could not upload or edit photos nor write or post the articles we were required to provide. In addition, we could not take more photos as there was no way to charge our camera equipment. Had we been informed about this SCHEDULED maintenance prior, we could have made other arrangements (which should NOT be necessary in the first place, but at least it could have been done). I am extremely dissatisfied with the lack of information provided by the staff, as it affected mine and my colleague's work.

« The front staff gentleman saved a customer »

I came for a night stay, on business. The room was booked through Expedia. I was told at checkin that I was being put on 3rd floor and there is a pool there, but the view is great. Before seeing the room, I expected a lot of commotion, but didn't expect so much to be wrong as there actually was! Smell of chlorine on the floor, bad smell in the room, dated lights (and one made constant hissing/electric-gone-wrong) sounds, bad view, ugly carpet, etc. It does get better though. I went down and thankfully the gentleman (white hair, chubby) listened to my plea and put me in a different room on 14th floor. If he hadn't done that, I had decided never to return to Best Western. The next room, 1401, was perfect! These pictures are from 1401. Will visit again, but this time on pleasure (God Willing). View from room was awesome.

« Great service, small rooms, bad for allergy sufferers »

We stayed at this hotel for two nights over the long weekend for a soccer tournament, the rooms were small and what they told us were queen beds were only doubles. The fridge in the room is very small and too cold, froze everything even with trying to turn it down. Both nights my husband and I woke up very stuffed up and only felt relief upon leaving the hotel and getting fresh air. This is an old hotel that has had a face lift and I wondered if there was mold in the walls causing my allergies. Breakfast area was very large and we used it for a team potluck dinner without issue but the breakfast food was very average, powdered eggs, cheap sausage, small dry muffins....typical hotel breakfast unfortunately. Staff were great at the front desk as we had left items in the room after checking out and they were very helpful. Parking was a pain since you had to squeeze into a very tight parking lot behind the hotel since the front entrance was closed for some type of repair to unload your vehicle then go inside and check in and get your parking pass then go back to your vehicle and move it across the street to the lot. And as we had a cooler and lots of luggage to bring in we used a trolley but there isn't a ramp at the back entrance or assisted entry doors making it very challenging to say the least. (Hotel Mgmt - please put in a ramp and assist entry doors!) Would I stay here again, only at the right price....

    « Loved the View »

This B.W. is located right on the Detroit River with wonderful views of the Riverside Park and Detroit. We arrived early and were able to check in, which was a very pleasant surprise. Rooms are clean, neat, comfortable beds, soft pillows and great views. Great blackout curtains allowed us to sleep in late! Nice sized pool and fitness area overlooking the river. Parking across the street was convenient and only $12, Felt very safe walking around the riverfront, lots of places to eat and within walking distance of casino. Because we slept late, breakfast area was extremely busy and running out of food. Would suggest getting there at least an hour before it ends.

« Nice notel in a superb waterfront location, but very noisy »

This hotel is well-furnished and in an excellent location right on the river. Rooms appear to be arranged so many have river views; higher floors are better. Staff are friendly. There is a major noise problem, however. It apparently caters to students of all ages, and they are constantly running around and making a lot of noise, even late. I was in an otherwise nice room on the 17th floor, but except for one other adult with whom I commiserated, it appeared that every other room had groups of high school girls in it. They additionally left many of their doors propped open so that, not only could they shriek to one another in their own rooms, but they could shriek across the hall to their friends. They also did a fair amount of running back and forth between rooms, somewhat lower but still quite substantial shrieks during the runs. I complained to the desk but not much happened; about an hour later, ca. 11-11:30, they quieted down, but this problem really ruined my 2 night stay. It was odd that there seemed to be no chaperone for these kids, at least on the 17th floor, and I am amazed that the hotel wouldn't realize that they were creating a huge problem, and that they didn't do something serious about it after my complaint. It's enough of an issue that I'd strongly advise against staying there; there are other nice hotels competitively priced in the area.

Overall this is an excellent hotel. Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly & helpful. Good assortment of food at breakfast. The hotel is situated in a great place. Close to USA bridge, Casino, great restaurants. Beautiful parks across the street. We don't have a problem recommending Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel.

« great veiw of river »

Take a front room if you can upgrade its worth it. The side rooms are also nice with view of river. This hotel is not luxury and needs some work. No parking on site. I don't think Windsor has the kind of money to support luxury hotels since 2008 crash however it is a nice clean hotel with great views. The parks in front of the hotel are beautiful and you can walk all along the river. Close to many restaurants.

« Great hotel except for the bedbugs »

Loved this hotel aside from the bites. Staff were all really great, location was perfect, the view was spectacular. Room was comfortable and clean, but unfortunately room 2010 has a bedbug issue. Noticed some bites on shoulder the first night. We were down by the water all day so we assumed they were mosquito bites. After check out the following day noticed more bites on hands and legs. I've had experiences with bedbugs when travelling before. The bites start out looking like mosquito bites, then swell up and weep a couple of days later which can make reporting the issue later to the hotel look sketchy. Fortunately there were no further bites after returning home so here's hoping they didn't come with us. General manager never responded to an email sent a week ago. It's a really great hotel otherwise, hopefully they can get the bug problem under control.

Stayed one night to go see Jeff Dunham at the Casino - loved that it was walking distance to the casino and so many choices of restaurants in walking distance as well - would definitely stay at this hotel again - friendly check in staff and beautiful room overlooking the river with panoramic view

    « Filthy »

Holes in the walls of a suite where a picture over the bed was removed. Holes in the wall on entry. Two fridges and no microwave; one of the fridges looked like something left over from a corner store. It was old and rattled so we had to unplug it to be able to sleep. Microwave in lobby smeared and filthy inside. Glass doors full of fingerprints not cleaned over night. Sheets on bed did not fit and weren't tucked in. The view was of the river if you craned your neck otherwise you saw the brick wall next door.

I'm not going to lie I had really low expectations for Windsor but was pleasantly surprised. Pros - room decor was new, modern and fresh looking - the staff were vet nice and friendly - coffee was available all day in the lobby - the view of the water and park was STUNNING! - the location is super convenient with a lot of amenities around - park across the street was lovely and very nice to walk, jog in Cons - parking was across the street and you have to check in and then go move your car - parking has a fee - the bed was pretty comfy but I found the sheets a little scratchy

« Excellent staff, and even BETTER STAY!!! »

We had a decently large group in for a function over a weekend and the staff were very helpful for the foreign family of ours. After being there for several days our family got to know the names of many of the staff who work at the hotel. Also a special thank you to Peter who built a baby bed they had for our little one. All of our family enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, The breakfast staff were very welcoming and more than helpful on anything we needed! I would reccomend this hotel to everyone visiting the Windsor/Detroit area. Well worth the money!

    « Great view »

Had a king bed room with a partial view of the Detroit River. Check in was a bit slow as had to wait for them to finish my room (even though we showed up about an hour after the check in time). The room had a comfortable bed, and was clean. A bit on the pricey side considering it is only a 3 star hotel.

« Nice Hotel, Good Location But a Bit Pricey »

Stayed for a swim meet so the location was excellent and the self serve breakfast was pretty good. Typical Best Western Quality but at Hilton prices so not good value. Probably the best option of a limited supply in downtown Windsor.

« Excellent View, comfortable bed »

Wow, fantastic view and great location, close to the tunnel. The bed and room was Very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing to write home about, but free.... Enjoyed the waterfront park directly across the street. They has a Beautiful widescreen TV in room, but had no digital signal available (what a waste of a great TV).

« Overall average, but problems with front desk and noisy guests »

Stayed here for 3 nights for a half marathon. The room was updated, relatively comfortable. TV was not HD, but it worked just fine. Nice that there's a small fridge in the room. The breakfast buffet was just ok....not great, but not terrible either (and there is a fair amount of selection of food). There was a partial view of the Detroit skyline, which was nice. Free wifi worked well. Two things decreased my rating for this hotel: parking and security. The front of the hotel is under construction and there's no parking. Parking is in a lot around back, which you don't find out about until you get there. It's an additional $12/day, which seems high for the city. At least the parking charge gets you in and out privileges. On Saturday evening (the night before the race), there were several girls in the hotel room next to us that were getting ready for a night out. There were very loud, so much so that we complained to the front desk. Three times. The first two times, the front desk called up and asked them to keep it down, which worked for a few minutes. But they kept getting louder and louder. At one point, they were so loud both in the room and in the hallway that my friend went out to ask them to quiet down. This prompted a fourth call to the front desk. The answer to all of this? "We called security and they said they can't do anything since it's Saturday night". I wish I was making this up. How on earth does the night of the week have anything to do with whether or not you can do anything about noisy hotel guests?? Not to mention that the front desk did nothing about it....no compensation, no apologies, no offer to move us to another room. Very poor handling of a situation on their part. If not for the parking and security issues, it would be average.

I stayed here for one night while on business. The hotel staff were very friendly, and the lobby and common areas have a modern look. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and i enjoyed an excellent view of the riber. I would stay here again next time i am in Windsor. The continental breakfast was what you would expect, and does not disappoint.

    « Great view »

This hotel has a great view of the waterfront and the Detroit skyline. One of the nicest hotels in the city. It's disappointing that you have to pay for parking (Almost every other hotel in the city has free parking, including Caesars Casino). We were a little dissapointed to find a hockey team staying on our floor with all of their equipment bags airing out in the hallway but once we were in our room, it was great. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

    « excellent service!!!! »

amazing customer service!!!! Angelina greeted us very pleasantly only to tell me that booking.com had cancelled my reservation according to their computer records- I didn't even have to show them that it was still on my dashboard on my booking.com account- they took me for my word and gave us a free upgrade of queen beds instead of the full I had reserved- the only thing was that we could no longer have a river view room, but our view would be a partial view (which was still awesome)- Not happy with booking.com but thrilled with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel!!! We asked for extra towels and within 5 mins we had them to our room- they recommended a very good pizza delivery service right to our room- their pool and meeting areas were all very clean and all staff we encountered were more than helpful, friendly, and thorough. Made for a super fun half marathon and girls weekend!!! will stay here again for sure!!!

First off Breakfast closes on time. But it is worth getting out of bed. We enjoyed breakfast and beautiful views. Sitting right on the Detroit River with a wonderful view. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly and accommodated every request. Indoor access to the parking garage and a very nice and updated lobby. The rooms look exactly like the picture which if you are a traveler you know this does not happen as often as it should. The higher your floor the better the view.

« Great views of the USA! »

I was looking for somewhere to stay in the Detroit area after driving from Niagara over to Chicago and came across the Best western plus waterfront hotel. It is literally minutes from Detroit through the tunnel crossing and arguably much safer to stay here than in Detroit itself. The Lobby was huge and the front desk staff were really nice and helpful. I paid for a riverfront view room which was definitely worth it as it's a cool view. The room itself is a decent size and was comfortable enough without being luxurious in any way. There is a breakfast served in the lobby in the morning which was standard hotel affair but decent. I would recommend staying here over staying in Detroit!

    « Nice hotel »

The hotels location is really nice with a beautiful view of the river and Detroit. Rooms are pretty big, the room I stayed in needed a facelift, however the beds where really good. Indoor pool and gym availible. Staff was really nice and service minded as well. Complimentary breakfast was also very nice.

We were relieved to be able to have a good sleep before our busy day in Windsor...Some hotels have hard or horrible beds but waterfront had awesome beds which were very comfortable...i will stay again and recommend this to others We had a delicious breakfast...there was lots of options to choose from so even the pickiest eaters can eat

    « Partial is not a view. »

We booked a room here for one night. One attraction was that all rooms were described as riverfront views. When we arrived, we were told that our room had a partial river view. As it was late, we accepted the room. The next morning, I looked out our doorwall, which was locked so we could not go outside. The view consisted of the Ren Cen and not much else of the river. The majority of our view was of other walls of the hotel. I walked outside to look at the building and noticed that the majority of the rooms appeared to be of this type. Not sure what the rate is for the true riverview rooms but I paid $200 CAD which I felt was high.

    « Disappointed »

Not good value for the price paid but good location. The hotel is under going renos so perhaps when it is finished it would be worth the price. One night stay only just to go a concert so really didn't spend much time at the hotel.

    « Worst experience ever »

The parking lot and hallways are definitely run down and the room was not even checked properly before check in. Used water bottle was in my suite. Lots of kids running are running around the street in the middle of the night. Impossible to sleep! The amount paid I would definitely recommend some other motels. The floors in the room are barely swept. Disappointed and disappointed. Not coming back ever. Breakfast is ok but a lot of things ran out fast, especially drinks. The beds were very soggy.

Was disappointed that the hotel charged extra for parking. Aside to that everything was acceptable, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was ample and well laid out is a beautiful and comfortable setting.

« Good stay in excellent location. Million dollar view! »

Wonderful staff, newly furnished and renovated rooms. Extremel comfortable bed and pillows. Good buffet breakfast in large airy room. Partial river view is breathtaking. I will go back just to get a room with a full river view. Room appeared to be a bit small for the two queen beds. High curb in temporary parking lot forces lifting of heavy beds to use the rear entrance. Off site pay parking is very short walk away but still a bit of a nuisance. I will definitely use this hotel again.

« Adequate room, Awful "free" breakfast, Elusive General Manager »

This hotel used to be the Hilton property in downtown Windsor, overlooking the Detroit river. Unfortunately, when the domestic auto industry hit the skids in about 2009, this negatively impacted this hotel. The club lounge closed, and it only briefly re-opened years later. The then management never put another dime into the place, so it fell apart. The dining room deteriorated as did the rooms, to the point that, for whatever reason, Hilton's name was removed from the door. New owners apparently took it over yet, by that time my organization which always sends some of us to Windsor on a rotating and regular basis, had bailed out. We were staying at a nice enough hotel in another location. So, eventually we decided to return to the Waterfront, as it was called before it joined the Best Western system. While the location is downtown, my own view is that does not get us much as downtown Windsor is nothing special. When the hotel became The Waterfront, it still had doormen/concierges, which was handy, although the dining room had closed. During my prior stay last Fall, as well as my recent stay this March 2016, the hotel touts its so-called "free" and "included" breakfast. "Included" is a better descriptor, because it is paid for within the room price. I discuss the breakfast further below if you have the patience to keep on reading. As of this past stay in March I can say the rooms are adequate. The work area is spacious, the furniture is recently new and in good shape, and the beds comfy. The bathrooms are also fine, with reasonable hot water pressure. The view remains the same as it always was--the view of the water was always this hotel's selling point and that, due to location, remains. I got a bathrobe on request, yet I suspect these are the ones stockpiled and will not be replaced when they wear out. Unfortunately, it appears that those who run the place decided to terminate the long-serving concierges who were always helpful, and make the hotel less "full service", probably reflecting the Best Western approach. At least the front desk staff are for the most part the same--many of these folks have been present since I began staying there three or four times annually back in the "Hilton days", so for over 15 years. They now have to help carry boxes to and from the rooms (my job requires lots of filing and paper despite this high-tech world in which we live). I miss the full service experience that we used to have at this place, including bathrobes, concierge lounge, a proper dining room, etc. There is as of yet no dining room so during winter one must go out to eat for lunch and dinner (or order in). We are told that a restaurant is coming--time will tell if it does and, when it does, if it is any good. The "free" breakfast is simply awful. It was awful when I stayed there last Fall and it was again awful when I stayed there in March. The so-called scrambled eggs are made from a powder and are just yucky. The sausages are horrid. The bacon is ok, albeit greasy, yet ironically this one semi-edible item of hot food is often not available. The first morning of my recent stay I asked one of the staff if more bacon was coming out as the bin was empty--"in 30 minutes" I was told. Really? I guess nobody was monitoring it to see when it was getting low. As most regular guests know the sausages are awful we go for the bacon, to try and mask the yucky taste of the eggs, so the staff should monitor and replenish as needed. Hot food on the buffet also did not stay very hot. The next day, day two of my stay, I was told that there would be no bacon at all because the hotel was full (of some young folks involved in a competitive swim contest--who were for very much the most part well-behaved). So, when the hotel is full, bacon is not served; we can all eat the inedible sausages and the awful eggs. On day three however, contrary to what I was told bacon was available. It was edible, and thankfully there was yoghurt and pastry. Yet this breakfast is really not worth the price. I took the trouble to hand-write a note for the hotel GM on the first morning of my three night stay, offering constructive feedback. As of later afternoon of day two, as I had not heard back, I attempted to phone the GM. Yet he has no voicemail, so I was unable to leave him a message. I had included my business card in my note and suggested that, if he could not reach me while I was in his hotel, he could call or email me at my office. On check-out I asked at the front desk if he was around and was told that he was in meetings but would be in touch. Yet it is six weeks since my stay and I have not heard from the General Manager in response to my detailed note. As a frequent business traveller, it is my experience at most hotels that management wants to hear from and learn from their guests. Management (good management, that is) is usually very interested in the experiences of their guests, good and bad. Over years of both business and leisure travel, to hotels all over Canada and the US, as well as Europe, I have always had a response from and interest shown by a hotel manager or GM in the relatively rare circumstances when I have needed to reach out. Certainly, management with whom I have spoken in hotels are receptive to feedback. In this case, especially, as my organization spends a fair amount of monies at this property between guest rooms and the boardrooms we use, one would expect the courtesy of a response. I guess my expectations are too high? Also, I have never heard of a GM not having voicemail. This appears to me to be an attempt to hide from guests, and avoid feedback. Yet that is the opposite of what a hotel GM should do. The view and the decent rooms, capable housekeeping, plus the long-serving and capable front desk staff, are what keeps this place from being a one star. The awful meal service at breakfast, which the hotel touts as so wonderful and "free", and the lack of dining facilities, holds this place back along with the diminished service provided. I also wonder about leadership given my lack of response from the GM. Generally, considering quality, value and price, one can likely get a far better experience at the Casino hotel for likely not much more money, if any more at all. It would also be a full service experience. I would much prefer to stay there given the choice of very good dining options and great rooms which the Casino hotel offers. Yet given the nature of my work that location (optics of a casino) is off limits for us. Alas.

« Nice Hotel - breakfast is disguting »

This is a nice hotel, and I would definitely stay again, but I wouldn't eat breakfast there, it was truly disturbing. They were out of juice for the kids, the eggs were ok, the sausages were the worst I've ever had. Stay at the hotel, but eat elsewhere.

« Location if it matter with amazing views to the Detroit River, »

This hotel is in excellent location if you are in town for some work. The services are fair, good house keeping and healthy breakfast. The wifi was not your typical hotel wifi, in fact it was very good. The parking is not included in your hotel rate, they provide you parking in the back structure for $12/day which is totally fair being you are in down town. View of Detroit river is amazing for all the floors.

    « Fantastic View of Detroit/River »

Can't get much better view of Downtown Detroit and the Detroit River. Our room was clean and comfortable, enough room for two. The windows are situated to provide a maximum view which also results in being able too see into your neighbor's room and vice versa. Not an issue though, just close drapes partially. Well located and easy to get to from the U.S. Will stay again.

    « beautiful view »

loved this location the view from the room was incredible the room was clean and updated the pool area was really nice but shallow and the gym had the same spectacular view of Detroit and the river breakfast was good the only thing missing was a hot tub

    3
    « River View »

The view of the river from our corner room was phenomenal. I do think the THREE ladies at the check in desk could have been more interested in our check-in. Especially when they were telling us to park in the structure behind the hotel - which they assumed we knew about.

    « Good hotel -- hidden fees »

This is a very nice hotel right o the Windsor Waterfront and beside the indoor water park -- which was wonderful! However, there are many hidden fees, not the least of which is a $12 parking fee that is not mentioned until after you register. The fact that there is really no other sensible option makes this seem a bit underhanded.

    4
    « Definitely Worth It! »

The room was very clean and the staff was quite helpful. I loved being able to just walk across the road to use the boardwalk. It was a little confusing with their parking but still workable. Very quiet and close to many things. The breakfast was average, but the breakfast bar was very small and overcrowded so I wasn't able to really access it. The only issue I really had was that I couldn't print anything when using the business center, even though they had printers there.

    « Swimmers in Windsor »

What a great place to stay for swim families. The international calibre facility is within walking distance. We were VERY impressed with Emelia the general manager. Staff was always freindly and helpful. The speed of service was shockingly fast. Its a very busy weekend hotel, so be prepared for all the casino goers and we had a global hockey tournament stating with teams from all over the world. The beds were really comfy...which is ultra important to swimmers. The staff was professional, ultra friendly and helpful from check in to check out. We travel all over the country with our athletes. Jeff at the front desk was great. Rooms were clean, not terribly large. Breakfast was usual cluded fare, but fresh and well presented. We look forward to coming again.

For the price, nothing better in this Canadian border city. In every way, it exceeds your expectations, cleanliness is immaculate. Would not stay anywhere else whenever I am here. Try it and you'll love it.

    « GREAT HOTEL »

This hotel is nice and clean, it is within walking distance to downtown and the casino. You have to park in a parking garage behind the hotel that is across the street which is a little annoying but it's ok. If you are looking for a place to eat close by go to Bubies on University is great I would recomend this hotel

    « Love this place »

I am most of the way through a two-month stay at the Best Western Plus Waterfront. The hotel is newly redone and looks great! The rooms are clean and comfortable. I was particularly impressed with the super-friendly housekeeping staff, although the front desk staff comes off as a bit aloof. The weekday breakfast is higher quality than the weekend breakfast, the latter of which features powdered eggs but does not include bacon. The WIFI is almost unusably slow. Overall I would be very pleased to stay again!

    « Good for a getaway! »

This hotel was very reasonably priced for my friend and I to get a night to be in Windsor. Very nice interior, extremely kind and helpful staff, and best of all, they have a huge breakfast in the morning! (Though it is still hotel breakfast keep in mind.) This hotel made me feel like I was staying in a real classy place, without the ticket price. So that alone is enough to get high marks from me!

« Great Price for View, Location, & Ammenities »

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel venue. My view of the Detroit River and Detroit Skyline was amazing. The room was updated and very clean with refrigerator, coffee maker, Internet, and new flat screen TV. The breakfast buffet was what you would expect - nothing fancy - but was included in the hotel price. I will definitely return for future visits.

    3
    « Too much noise »

The hotel itself was nice, and the renovated rooms with the view were great, but it appears that the hotel is a party house for the downtown crowd. The noise from our adjoining room was unbearable and mngt. seemed kind of indifferent. We ended up changing rooms, and then the noise from a different party group continued till 3:30 AM. We called for help, but the night desk staff seemed to say "Get over it" Don't stay here on the weekend.

    « Travel for work »

I have stayed at this hotel twice now for work, once in January and again in March. The hotel has been renovated, and the rooms are nice and comfortable. Lovely views from the rooms. Very friendly staff. Downsides- I do not care for the parking garage in the back for parking- it is the only option. It looks like they will eventually open a bar/lounge but it is not yet open- and there is no restaurant on site. The breakfast in the morning is just ok. Will likely return.

We had a lovely time here. it was super crowded in the lobby and for breakfast, but it was a fun-crowded, like you were all having a good time! Pool was great, other families playing there made it extra fun for kids. Breakfast was really good. Parking was close. We had a really good experience!

    « A river front jewel! »

We stayed at the hotel on the last night of March break. In addition Johnny Reid was appearing at Caesars Windsor that night so yes it was very busy! But the staff had it all under control. Clean and comfortable rooms with absolutely stunning river views. Friendly, helpful staff assisted me with accessibility for my disabled spouse.Good hot breakfast. We felt very welcome and we will be back.

    « Business Trip »

Good hotel for business located downtown close to City Hall, restaurants and walking path along river. Friendly and helpful staff with quick check-in and check-put. Had a good rate for 55+ on a renovated floor with panoramic views of the river and Detroit. Free coffee and breakfast is nice, but could use some more healthy choices (ie: variety of fruit, nuts, etc.) Will definitely stay here again on next business trip.

« I made my own Belgian Waffles!!! »

The breakfast buffet is located in the cavernous Lobby Bar and I have repeatedly enjoyed it. Fresh juices and fruit are plentiful. Both hot and cold dishes available and I made my own Belgian Waffles! Staff is always friendly and available and are topping off products. After cereal, toast, eggs, yoghurt and the yummy waffles I need to go back to bed! Thanks!

    « Wonder what's it's like to live in a fraternity house? »

I will start off this review by saying the room and the service was great. My poor rating has almost nothing to do with the hotel itself. The hotel was completely over run with US college kids, coming over to Canada to drink (lower drinking age) and party all weekend. The staff even told us that these kids had booked up 75% of the rooms. We were there for 2 nights and the first night was pretty noisy - but we managed; the second night was better. We were there with 2 other sets of couples and they both had worse experiences than us (being woken up by yelled profanities every hour on the hour). One of the couples complained and were upgraded (the hotel was good about it) - but even in the upgraded room, they were kept up all night. Similar complaints from our other set of friends. In the halls and elevators (around 10:30), expect to find empty solo cups and discarded (mostly empty) liquor bottles on the ground. At the complementary breakfast, expect it to be loud and see 19 year-olds wandering around barefoot. As I said, the hotel did their best to keep this under control (and I get that these kids bring in a ton of business for them). I would just rather not be anywhere near them. Will not stay there again.

    « Comfortable Stay »

3 couples booked rooms since we were going to a hockey game in Detroit. We arrived around 2:30-3 PM and 1 room wasn't ready. I requested to be moved from an upper floor and got one on the 5th floor. It was a foggy night so the other couples could not enjoy the view but from our room we could see Joe Louis Arena and the river. It was absolutely beautiful. Trying to check in was somewhat of a nightmare. We could not park in the driveway of the hotel on Riverside Rd since there was construction going on and the driveway was closed due to a sinkhole. We eventually found a parking lot in the back of the hotel that allowed us to check in. It actually worked out well since the hotel parking lot is in the municipal lot located right across the road. Parking is charged on your bill and costs $12.95 a day. Our room was clean but I got locked in the bathroom twice due to a faulty door handle. One of our friends found a dirty face cloth hanging on the shower rod and that the bathtub had not been cleaned. The "Queen Bed" is the size of a double but this is the new standard in hotels. The staff there are really nice and appeared to take our concerns to heart. We enjoyed our breakfast buffet and the staff there went out of their way to ensure that it was totally stocked and that the guests were having a good experience. It was very busy but they were happy to help us in any way. I would definately stay there again. Excellent value for the location and very kid & pet friendly. The hotel does charge you an extra $10.00 extra for rooms overlooking the river. We were not informed of this at the time of check-in but it was worth it to us.

« Disgusting breakfast downgraded the hotel »

disappointed for the breakfast.. Thought it would be a lot more up graded as the room was classy but the quickie style paper plate plastic fork, powdered scrambled eggs took away from the lavish room. The bed was very comfortable but had spring breakers partying next to us and had to call front desk,(no fault of the hotel) We loved the room and the view of the river and Detroit..

« Had a wonderful stay with the family »

We enjoyed the pool and the nice rooms. I believe they just renovated the hotel and the rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was good and staff seemed nice. Parking was for $12.00 a night which was okay considering we were staying downtown. Overall great experience and we had a great view from the room.

« Clean, comfortable, beautiful view. »

A very updated and modernized decor. Friendly staff and lots of lobby seating and common space. Beds were super comfortable and hallways were quiet. Parking off site at an additional cost per night. Pool area seems old but functional and clean. Breakfast buffet was in a cramped corner and very difficult to access due to the number of people trying to use the service. We settled on a piece of fruit and yogurt as it was a very long wait to get to the hot items. Lovely river walk directly across from the hotel.

The room was comfortable and had the promised view of the river. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast did not match the photos and was crowded due to insufficient space and equipment. As soon as any hot food arrived it was in such short supply that it was finished by a handful of guests.

« Fix the signage and parking »

This hotel needs better signage and the parking is not really safe for solo female travelers. On the plus side, the rooms are beautiful, great views, and the mattresses are one of the best that I've ever had in a hotel.

    « Awesome view »

We came to Windsor to visit family and have stayed at another hotel on the river before and found the view awesome. We thought we would try the Best Western this time and wasn't disappointed. Pros & Cons: Pros: View Clean spacious room with pano view (we upgraded) as our original room was smaller, partial river view with main view of a roof top. No appealing to us. Breakfast was great. Good variety Check in and out was fast and friendly. Cons: Pool was ice cold. Parking was a little sketchy. Across the road behind the hotel. Main level mostly reserved parking so its second floor or higher. Not well lit behind hotel

I had a very pleasurable stay. I was there for 3 days and the location is perfect, the room view was amazing The staff is friendly and welcoming. The General manager came to our table at the restaurant to introduce himself to us. Very professional.

    « Very nice stay »

Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The only issue that we did have was that the name was being changed over from the "Waterfront Hotel" and we did not see the Best Western sign from Riverside Rd. This made it a bit hard to find. The parking was right across the street in a parking arcade - found on the backside of the hotel. Nice clean room, large, lots of amenities. GREAT location to the Ceasar's Windsor Casino which was why we were there - to see David Spade. It was about a 5 minute easy walk, close to bars and restaurants. Will definitely stay here on our next trip!!!

In walking distance of restaurants, casino, and right across the road from the waterfront park. The value was Excellent. Breakfast was self serve sausage, scrambled (powdered) eggs, waffles, toast, fruit, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice. Plenty of seating and clean and maintained. We were on the 14th floor. Excellent view. Shower had lots of hot water and excellent water pressure. Our room was clean and some effort was put into the decor. We would absolutely stay here again.

We were very happy with our room and the staff at the Waterfront Hotel. Great shower, and I had a good sleep. The breakfast was a little disappointing and the first morning there were big lineups for every breakfast item. The other challenge was trying to drop someone off at a very crowded front door, then having to do 3 left turns to get to the parking a bloc away. Stil, the hotel was fairly priced and our room had a lovely view of the Detroit skyline.

« Everything is in good standard! »

This is the hotel will meet most of your expectation for family travel. Very comfortable, clean/quite room. Breakfast is good enough to get start in the morning. Our room has the river which is great. Fitness centre was perfect to suit our need. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

    « Comfortable stay »

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night on a girls' weekend. The hotel was clean and bright. There was construction at the main entrance at the time, but it did not impact us. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the hotel was quiet, despite being very busy. The room was quite small, as was the bathroom. It would have been a nice touch to have a small refrigerator in the room, but space did not permit.

    « GREAT EXPERIENCE »

This had to be one of the most fulfilling hotels stays I have had in quite some time. The service was amazing, the veh was awesome, and the location was perfect. I will definitely stay here for all my trips to Windsor

    « When in Windsor »

Situated right on the river, and adjacent to the St Clair Arts Centre and downtown, this is the ideal spot for everything in Windsor. Very nicely appointed hotel, with big rooms and comfortable bed, what more do you need

    « Great experience »

Location is excellent, can walk everywhere. Rooms are large, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The rooms were nice and quiet. Great view from the room overlooking the Detroit river. This was our first time in Windsor and would definitely stay here again. Overall a great experience.

    « Decent stay »

View was beautiful and bed was comfy. The water pressure in the bathroom was very poor - especially the sink. Breakfast was chaotic which was to be expected except we saw one staff member cleaning up and she picked up plastic glasses from the floor and returned them to the cup dispense area as if they were new. If they do that then out in the open then what do they do behind closed doors? Anyway, that point aside, breakfast is really chaotic and busy and not properly stocked. Overall, we would stay here again because it's a great location and reasonable price, but we'd pass on the free breakfast.

    « Comfort and Help! »

They had just done some beautiful renovations. We had an excellent view of the river and skyline across the river from our room. Excellent, helpful staff who arranged a car to pick up our daughter across the border when we forgot our passports. Comfortable beds. Great pool and gym. All round wonderful stay.

    4
    « Excellent location »

This hotel is a great location on the waterfront and within walking distance of many restaurants. Fantastic views from hotel room. Excellent fitness centre. Great value. It could use a bar/lounge and faster internet.

    « Good »

Beautiful room with a wonderful river view. Great location for Windsor Aquatic Centre. Wonderful trails on the riverfront. Staff were very courteous and helpful. The breakfast was a good assortment and a little earlier that we were told which helped when getting the athletes to the pool for early warm up swims.

    « Windsor Water Front »

We stay here when we visit relatives in Windsor. It is conveniently located downtown and within walking distance to most attractions and Restaurants and pubs . The rooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable. The Inn is in process of renovations and the renovated rooms are much improved. Currently there is a restoration contractor trailer parked very inconveniently in the front entrance area. Front Desk staff customer Service has improved inj the past couple of months. Improvement in service was needed. Peter in the maintenance section is a very welcomed employee worth his weight in gold. He should be the Employee of the Month.

    « Waterfront Windsor »

The Best Western Waterfront, Windsor had the best full view of the Detroit River, and Detroit across from it. It was an amazing view, never been matched before anywhere for us. We would stay again. We are not fond that the hotel charges extra for parking, and the fact they don't have their own restaurant, but The Keg was very close and we received a totally impressive meal there. We would stay there again though,

    « Windsor »

The hotel was clean and comfortable. It is a great location and other than the hotel being booked solid with OFSSA wrestlers, it was a good sleep. Breakfast was very busy and hard to get at any food because of so many teens.

« Great location, clean and quiet »

Stayed here for a night with a couple friends for Autorama in Detroit. Hotel has great views and is in a great location for food and access to the tunnel to the USA. Rates were good and great hot breakfast provided! Parking is not onsite but across the street and cost an additional $12 per night.

« Nice hotel in downtown Windsor »

This hotel was great and centrally located. I was going to the Caesar's Windsor and it was a short walking distance. The hotel was clean and reasonably priced. The beds were basic doubles which seemed very small and not as comfortable as some.

    5
« Great room with a wonderful view »

We were in town to see a show at the Casino and rather than drive back we stayed the night. The hotel is only a few blocks from the Casino. The room was clean and appointed well, with a very nice view of the river. Breakfast was fine, nothing special but it got the job done.

    4
    « nice room »

everything was very good and to our satisfaction. the only thing that was a little annoying was being awakened at about 3 am by noisy people in the room next door. the casino is nearby which is good but then so can people be coming into their rooms at all hours of the night and maybe having too many drinks.

    « Girls night away »

My friend and I had tickets for a concert at the Windsor casino so we decided to stay at the Best Western Plus Waterfront. We stayed on a Friday night and the price was pretty good at $185.00 total. A room at the casino was over $400...crazy! The room was clean and the beds were comfy! The view of the river was pretty and the lights of Detroit were nice. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was included and was tasty. The Keg is next door and the casino was about a 7 minute walk.

« Excellent new hotel in Windsor »

Fantastic service, clean, beautiful panoramic views of the waterfront, lovely pool and spacious fitness area. Great location, good price. A 5km waterfront trail steps from the hotel was an enjoyable stroll for my family and I. It's nice to see a new Best Western Plus hotel in downtown Windsor.

    4
« Great views but wish it had a restaurant »

All of the rooms have a great view of the Windsor waterfront and the Detroit skyline. I wish there was a restaurant so I didn't have to head out to eat when the weather was bad but other than that the hotel is great and i would highly recommend it.

    5
    « Excellent hotel »

The Hotel is excellent and I would go again every time the breakfast was not superb . However it was adequate, well laid out and good The staff were pleasant and very efficient Our room was facing the Detroit river so we had a full view of the river and Detroit. Heating unit was really noisy and we couldn't keep it on at night due to the noise.

    3
« Good for the Money »

We stayed here after seeing a concert in Detroit. The savings over a place in Detroit made the hassle of crossing the border worth it. This hotel is very clean, a must for me. There is a buffet breakfast included which was about average. They weren't prepared for the number of guests they had that night. But the woman replenishing the breakfast items did a great job. The buffet included make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon along with assorted cereals, yogurts and pasteries. The parking was not included. It was a cost of $13/night. The lot is covered and directly behind the hotel across the street.

    « one night stay »

We arrived early and knowing 3 p.m. was check in time however we got our room at 12 p.m.when we arrived which was fantastic. When we checked in the receptionist was pleasant and told us we had a room on the 16th floor with a great view. While the view was amazing! Never sat in my room just to look out a window but this time I spent at least an hour just taking in the view of Windsor/Detroit. The pool was on the third floor and a good size although we never used it there was alot of families enjoying it. The breakfast area seemed to be a bit crowded at times but the seating area was very spacious. Parking was extra but you didnt need your car as you were close to all amenities.

    5
    « Riverview »

Stayed here over Detroit hotels even though business was in Detroit. With the dollar exchange and the free breakfast is made sense. The hotels in this price range state side didn't offer free breakfast and some didn't have a pool. For the dollar this was the best safest place for me.

    « Excellent overall accomodations »

Our stay at this hotel was excellent - clean comfortable rooms, very quiet, and very nice real dining room for breakfast. Everything was above expectations. Will stay here again and no hesitation to recommend.

    « Incredible view »

Best River view in town. Quality / Price exceptionnal. Few steps away to main street and waterfront promenade. All staff very kind and helpful. Nice pool and fitness center. You will enjoy your stay at BW Waterfront.

« Room was not ready on time and Poor Heating »

They claimed rooms were sold out day before Valentine's and they couldn't clean in time for next day. Check outs were very late at 12 and check ins at 3, we came at 3:30 and not ready until 4. Heat was set to max (30C) when we got there but not heat at all. During winter season too, the thicker blanket had to be used but was on top of closet instead of on thin sheets on bed. Recommend going to Caesars instead. Pay a bit more but much much better

    4
    « Conference »

Stay was pleasurable except for the party goers next door. Staff quickly and promptly addressed the issue. Security made sure the rowdy guests were in compliance to orders by conducting checkpoints through out the night.

« Casual place to be »

I recently got a hotel room at waterfront and the view was amazing the room was kind of small for the price that we got it but the view was worth it, only thing that was upsetting was that they don't have room service, a jacuzzi and I also lost my pencil case I believe one of the lady janitor stole it and the breakfast eggs were bad but aside from that everything was good q

    5
    « Great location, view, & value »

We selected a panoramic view on the 10th floor and it was excellent! Staff was welcoming and helpful. Location is fantastic 5 or 6 blocks from Caesars and the Oulette St. nightlife. The only issue was breakfast was packed and picked over. But overall for the money its a great value!

Shower took a long time to get it to work Make up mirror was burned out Heater came on every 45 minutes or so and woke me up it was so noisy Freezing cold outside and not enough blankets on bed Ridiculous parking at front to check in Even more ridiculous of a line up to check in

« Nice rooms but breakfast could be better »

We stayed on the 16th floor as I requested a higher floor. There was a youth hockey league on the 5th floor and boy could you tell when you passed it on the elevator. We stayed here around a year ago when it was under renovations. Is alot nicer now but the breakfast is so so. Not bad for free buffet and with how many people they serve. Still had the $12 a night parking in the garage behind hotel. Not many options when it comes to parking around here. Room was all new with exception of the 1980s thermostat, closet and phone. We would stay here again no questions asked

« Great View Poor Service. »

The breakfast was the worst I have experienced. I did nok know eggs could be cooked so badly. The electrical outlets in the room did not work. Parking is only offered as an upcharge on top of the bill. The women who checked us in was rude. While checking out the maid was right in the room before we even had our bags out! The view of the GM building was nice.

    5
« Good location and price. »

Nice view of the Detroit skyline, 10 minute walk to Caesars. Room was clean and quiet. Everything worked as it should. Check in went without a hitch. Free parking across the street. Nice expedited check out with room receipt left under the door. And free breakfast too.

« Nice Alternate to Casino Hotel »

We were headed to a concert at the casino and were disappointed to find that their hotel was sold out. We chose to stay at the Best Western as it was nice and close. Our room was on the 20th floor with a beautiful view of the river and Detroit skyline. We enjoyed our stay although it would have been a nice touch had a shuttle to the casino been offered.

    5
    « excellent »

room card did not work at first, so I have to go back and get a new set of room card. Staff apologized and card work for the second..Staff was courteous and helpful. breakfast layout was disorganized and needs better organization

    « Great view! »

Stayed for one night. The parking was not a joy. It was very cold and we had to find our way from a parking lot across the street behind the hotel through a maze of hallways and elevators without clear direction. It also cost us extra to add insult to injury. The room however, was very clean, modern, comfortable and had an exceptionally nice view. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was included and had a nice spread including eggs, sausage, bacon, breads, waffles etc... Would stay there again.

    5
« Good value and view »

Great views and location! The Pedway entrance from the parking lot entrance is a little sketchy. Enjoyed a walk along the water and the easy access to entertainment and restaurants. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. No hot tub, this is a feature that should be considered at some point. The breakfast area is very spacious and a few tables have views of the water, which is a nice touch for the morning coffee.

    « Every room has a view! »

I stayed here for one night last year when this was known as the Waterfront Hotel. As the name states, it is right on Riverside drive with great views of the river and the Detroit Skyline. The location was great for my purposes, and my room was clean and the newer bed and bedding was comfortable, though the other furnishings were a bit dated (they were in the process of renovation!) Breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold items with a spectacular view from the second floor dining room(they were in the process of renovating a different room on the first floor for breakfast though, which is too bad...) My only problem with the hotel was the additional parking fee, which is the same with most of the downtown hotels and is kind of ridiculous, but I was working at the Casino that week so just stayed parked there for free and walked over... Overall a good stay and would stay here again. I recommend checking prices on booking.com. At the time, the price difference of booking with them and booking direct was about $30 and the hotel wouldn't match it!!

    4
    « Stayed here for a wedding »

The Waterfront is very convenient for a wedding or event at the Centre of the Arts connected to the hotel. No need to even check a coat. The view is outstandingt of Detroit River, Detroit skyline, Belle Isle and the riverfront. Staff is helpful with kind words and smiles. Breakfast buffet was substantial so you won't leave hungry.

    4
    « Windsor »

Hotel is in a nice location with a good view. The room was clean and the furnishing comfortable. The location is close (800m) from the Windsor Casino and there are good restaurants close by. I will definitely stay here again on my next business trip to Windsor

    3
    « Hotel rating »

Overpriced for this hotel given the overall quality of the interior, the "full" breakfast (which was an overstatement) plus paid parking as an extra. Access for registration not that easy what with a non-operating front door and barely room for two cars up-front.

  • 4
« Fabulous view of Detroit »

The hotel is close to numerous bars and restaurants and only a couple blocks to the casino. The rooms are large and spacious. My room had a king size bed and faced the river. The rooms were clean and the free breakfest buffet was an added bonus. Interaction with the staff was limited but everyone seemed happy and helpful. I would stay here again without a doubt.

    5
« Excellent accommodation for a business traveller »

The Best Western Plus Waterfront is situated in downtown Windsor, close to several restaurants and a liquor store. My room (King bed, single) offered good, relaxing views of the river and the Detroit skyline. The room was well-appointed and modern and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel's front desk staff were responsive and courteous. The complementary breakfast was good (though there was no fruit salad offered, there were still choices) and the hotel coffee, I thought, was exceptional. I would recommend this hotel for a business traveller wanting clean, refined, comfortable, quiet, and enjoyable accommodation close to other restaurants in the downtown core. I would even stay here if I were a personal traveller.

    5
    « Worth the Trip »

Excellent riverfront view, comfortable rooms, activities within walking distance, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent restaurants nearby ( the Keg Steakhouse and Bar , one short block away, had excellent food and atmosphere). Casino Windsor and its entertainment venue, The Coliseum, is approximately a short 5 blocks away. Other, top notch, local acts in the casino.

    « Good hotel - great rooms - 2 flaws »

Good hotel. Good service. Great view of Detroit and the river on the waterfront side. Closely located to the COBO centre, bus station and several great restaurants. Comfortable beds. However what doesn't make this a GREAT hotel: 1- Bad cable connection. Please switch to satellite TV with numerous channels where movies can also be ordered. Basically, join the 21st century. 2- Brutal WIFI connection. Slow to the point of being useless. Piece of advice: better Wifi service with password so people outside the hotel can't connect and steal the connection. Basically, again, join the 21st century.

    « overnight for a wedding »

Hotel was very clean, staff was excellent,, only disappointment was that there wasn't an actual restaurant at the hotel. They did have a continental breakfast that was your typical breakfast, I am not a huge fan of these breakfasts

« Spectacular view but some things to be desired »

We stayed here on 1/17 and rented the King Junior Suite. We had the Splash Package that allowed us 4 tickets into Adventure Bay across the street. Pros - The view is unsurpassed. Absolutely breathtaking view of Downtown Detroit skyline and riverfront. - Clean, updated room - Awesome health gym with several top notch treadmills and elliptical machines, weights, mats, and weight machines....all looking towards riverfront view - Pool is kid friendly atmosphere with 3.5 feet across entire pool. Sauna is nice added bonus and pool is fully furnished with bath sized towels. - Pleasant staff Cons - Television had poor reception on most channels - Horrible WiFi - No bar or lounged - Continental breakfast was less than desirable - Virtually nonexistent snack shop (there were bags of chips on shelves and a freezer of ice cream and pop) Overall good stay but wished there was a lounge for the adults and the food was better.

« Windsor / Detroit Auto Show Visit »

My Wife and I booked a king suite at the Best Western Waterfront and we were pleased. VERY comfortable beds, the swimming pool and work out area were in great shape and we made use of them. They also had continental breakfast in the morning, nothing spectacular, but all the essentials were there. The bus terminal behind the building was convenient to walk to, we ended up getting a package deal for bus fair and auto show admission for around CAD $24 a piece. We also hit up Caesars casino for a show, it was a bit of a walk, but worth it for the money we saved. We will stay there again.

    4
    « Windsor Downtown »

Not the hotel it was. If you stayed here say 5 years ago you are in for the new stripped down version. Fewer staff and less service. The great second floor dining room and lounge at this location is no more. Not sure what the PLUS is. Maybe the additional charge for parking.

    5
« Great Stay near the waterfront »

I stayed here for 2 nights over the holidays. The location is great, with a view of the river and Detroit skyline. The room itself was very spacious; the king bed was also very comfortable. The staff were friendly and when I had to cancel one of my 3 nights there was no hassle. Would stay here again if I'm in the area.

    5
    « Great View »

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and have been pleased with each stay. There is a great view of the Detroit River with the city skyline as a backdrop. The staff is professional and the rooms and beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is adequate, although the eggs and sausages are a little questionable. Overall, it is a good value for the money.

« Not a great place for children on holidays »

I stayed at this hotel with my three children over New Year's Eve this year. Everything seemed fine until the entire hotel started to fill up with American teenagers who came over the border to get drunk with Canada's lower drinking age. By the time we put our children to bed for the night, the entire lobby was swarming with drunk teenagers, swearing and being rowdy. I understand that people celebrate on New Year's Eve, but the parties at this hotel went all night, into the morning, on every floor of the hotel. Our floor (7th) was possibly the worst, with people yelling, swearing, and fighting in our hallway, well past 4AM. My wife and I were trying to keep our kids asleep, and we were too scared to go out into the hallway to ask the drunks to be quiet. The teenagers had torn down ceiling tiles and crumbled them on the floor outside our room, and at 3:30AM, security finally came to remove some of the rowdiest kids. (I later learned that one of them was arrested). I informed the hotel staff that we would not have booked this hotel if we knew that every floor was going to be reserved for rowdy drunk teenagers, but the staff seemed to shrug it off, claiming this is what happens being so close to the border. More security and better enforcement of quiet at night would be recommended. I realize that it was New Year's Eve, but the festivities should start to wind down at midnight and not ramp up for the next 4 hours. I likely will not return to this hotel.

« Great location on waterfront »

Great hotel right on the waterfront. Close to everything including the casino. We stayed for a wedding in the attached centre for the arts. Overall great stay. Includes a free breakfast, but we did not wake up in time for it- that was my only regret!

« Lovely hotel right on the water »

We stayed on a Sunday evening. Check in was fast and hassle free. Our room was on the 15th floor with a panoramic view of the water and the Detroit riverfront. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a small fridge inside the room. We were able to use their inside walkway and attend a comedy show later that evening at the Chrysler Theater. It was great not having to bundle up and walk or drive to the show. Also, the walk way was a nice short cut to the Keg restaurant. Parking was included with our room and was right outside the back of the hotel. Breakfast buffet was also included, but it was your typical cold scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, breads, etc. It was very crowded for breakfast. We will stay here again.

    « Nice hotel - great location! »

River view room. Quite nice and spacious. Over all clean but the bathroom needs updating and there was some mildew in the grout in the shower. We didn't have many dealings with the staff but house keeping was very nice.

« They are so rude »

The workers are rude. The hotel is clean, but I was not happy while staying there. I was charged higher rate because I didn't have my CAA membership card on me. I was able to get the difference back after arguing with them quite a while. felt so bad. I was there to relax, but they ruined my holiday.

    « Its a Matter of View »

Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel is close to everything. Casino, bus station for getting to Detroit, downtown restaurants and best of all the Riverfront. Views from the room of the Detroit Skyline and river are fantastic. Recently renovated makes it a first class hotel at a reasonable price. Parking is in a garage across the street. Get a parking pass from the front desk and the rate is less.

    « Inexcusable behaviour »

Room is fine but service was just rude. An employee came up to our floor for a noise complaint and heard us laughing so knocked on our door. After telling us to be quieter he barged into our room and spoke directly to each person in the room with attitude. All of us were understanding and calm but he was not. This employee would not listen but continued to yell and threatened to call the police.

    4
    « Still learning »

Rooms are beautiful and all face the river. New as a Best Western Hotel property. Still needs to learn the Best Western rewards system. I am a Diamond member with 90 stays per year. Most hotels recognize the loyalty upon registering with an upgrade to a suite if available. My upgrade was a corner room. Hotel breakfast was terrible. Bacon was raw and scrambled eggs floating in water. I think they need to improve quite a bit to be a Best Western Plus. Hotel advertises on site restaurant. There wasn't one.

    4
« Very comfortable, great view, and no surprises »

This has been bought out by the Best Western (from the Hyatt) in mid 2015 and under new management, there are no more surprises. Bed is very comfortable, big screen TV still uses analog, but lots of stations. Hot breakfast in the morning with processed egg and bacon and sausage--nothing special, but good for complimentary.

  • 4
    « Renovated and comfortable »

Had a great view of Detroit and the river from 21st floor. Bed was very comfortable. Hot breakfast was standard BW style. Located close to Ambassador bridge and U of Windsor. No surprises except my door on our side was in rough shape--perhaps it is on the to-do list.
