    « Best Western Lee-Jackson »

Nice hotel. I found it clean and the staff were good at what they do. No problems encountered. Easy off and easy on to I-81. Plenty of store and gas stations nearby so as not to have to hunt them down.

    « Worst stay yet »

Had some issues with noise and the room not being clean and price tryed talking to the staff didnt care not the first time something like this happend to me or at this hotel they dont like to do anything at all at any of the hotels

    3
« Ah....not so good, not so bad. »

Best part: sheets, comforters, otherwise, fair to not so fair for everything else. Needed two-four more 'smallish pillows' for a king sized bed. Carpet had that 'cleaner' smell. Smallish bath towels and the internet connection keeps resetting IP address. I guess for the money, it was ok, but you can hear every toilet flush around you, in other rooms and the heat pump units are 'heat or cool', very old fashioned.

    3
    « Acceptable. »

The hotel was acceptable, given the price. The hotel didn't offer a breakfast, but did have a Perkins restaurant on-site. The beds were okay. The hotel's best feature was its proximity to Shenandoah National Park. You likely didn't come for the hotel, but the views of the mountains. You'll be able to rest comfortably and shower. Use the money you saved for souvenirs or gas.

    2
    « Not a good choice. »

I needed a place for one night and this actually had pretty good reviews. It was not a good choice. The room smelled, the carpet was sketchy, it is a motor court which I didn't realize and that was not in it's favor either. Did I say the room smelled???? It did. Pay the extra and perhaps stay somewhere else. The desk staff were pleasant, however...... Not to mention, I have never in my life found a bed that hard. I'm not sure what it was made out of. Very strange.

    3
    « OK stay »

We have stayed at this hotel several times because it is convenient for our travel needs in the Winchester area. We were finally put in a room that was quiet and had been recently updated. The access to downtown Winchester and I-81 is excellent. Price is also affordable.

    1
    « Worst stay ever »

The morning after our stay, we found 2 BED BUGS in the room. The box spring on the bed that we slept on was terrible condition. The top of the fabric was torn. The material under the cover was BLACK. This was probably the worst stay for us.

    2
« This hotels should be classified as a Motel »

Would not recommended this hotel for single female international travelers with knowledge of safety awareness. There is no safe facility for storage of passport/cash as the keys are kept by the manager who is not alway on site. Cleanliness: I found an empty cigarette box at the bottom of the bed on the floor. (I don't smoke).

    2
    « Just Okay »

Needed a one-night stop-over en route NC. Contacted a friend who had occasions to stay in Winchester, and he recommended this BW. Location was convenient to I-81, and the price was right. Room was worn but clean except that my wife found several flying (winged) ants in the sink area, and both of the two double beds were hard and lumpy. Neither of us slept too well. No continental breakfast was included, but they gave a $2.50 coupon towards dinner or breakfast at the adjacent Perkins restaurant. Because of the recommendation, we did not check out any other hotels in the area, but we will do so next time. I suppose we got what we paid for, but will likely not stay here again.

« Convenient Location Great Servce »

In an area known for horrid hotel staff and check-in procedures, I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the staff. Hotal is a bit dated with decor and outdorr entrrances but well maintained and clean.

    « Ctl »

Pleasantly surprised after reading some of the other reviews . Updated room and bathroom. Dinner at on site Perkins a pleasure they had a 25% off deal. $2.50 voucher from BW used next morning for coffee &muffin the rug could have used a good cleaning. Room was facing main road but traffic at a minimum.air conditioning was quiet!!! Great value for the price definitely stay again next trip down Interstate 81

« Very good for the price. »

We stopped here on our way to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. The desk staff was very pleasant and eager to please. Our first room was clean and comfortable. Our stay on the way home was just as good although the furniture needs to be updated, desk chair worn in spots and the easy chair had a tear in it that had been carelessly mended. On the whole it was a much better stay than the Best Western in Gatlinburg. It also has plenty of parking for the guests.

    3
    « BW Winchester, VA »

Typical interstate interchange motel. Rooms need some updating but considering price paid it is a good value. Motel staff were professional and pleasant. No complimentary breakfast, instead you get a $2.50 per person voucher for the attached restaurant.

    2
    « Too loud »

If you're looking for a quiet night to get some sleep, then look elsewhere. This hotel's units are too close to a very busy main street which has a heavy traffic flow the entire night through. It is an older hotel which could use some updating but overall it was clean and the staff was courteous and knowledgeable.

    1
« Do not stay at this Hotel »

Terrible Parking, Rooms are not clean every day, Reservations changes are not recorded properly or passed down to Hotel Staff when accessing reservations on computer check in. I will not stay there again.

    4
« Good location for visiting beginning our trip to Shenandoah National Park »

Our room was very comfortable and clean. Had a good night's sleep on the king size bed. Staff were pleasant and helpful.. We had dinner at the Perkins restaurant next to the hotel and were pleasantly surprised how delicious and was pleased with the prices. We also had breakfast at the same restaurant and enjoyed it very much. Freslhy baked cookies were always available.

    3
« Good value, FILTHY carpet! »

Upon arrival, the room appeared clean enough as far as bedding, bathroom, etc. I wore white socks while in the room & in less than 8 hours, they were black on the bottoms! The carpet in this room was nauseatingly filthy & even sticky to the touch! Overall, the room was a good value & if the carpet would have been clean, it could have been a great stay!

    « never again »

the worse best western hotelthat i have every checked in or checked out - the staff certainly needs to be trained in courtesy and simple gestures of hospitality - they seemed to have no training at all even in their own homes - very very inhospitable stafff who need to work in correctional centers and not in hotels - they certainly can ruin a good name very effectively -

« One of the worst Westerns I'be been to »

Property in pretty bad shape, showing wear and not well kept; depressing. Got supposed no-smoking room that smelled awful. Place was sold out; all surrounding hotels were also so we stayed but complained; was given a can of Febreze!!! Imagine! I was furious. I asked for a free night for our discomfort and got no response whatsoever; management cared not one whit. I was promised management would be in touch but they have not. Price was the only good thing.

« Good value, very convenient to the Interstate »

I've stayed here twice over the past year and will stay again if needed - it's conveniently situated about halfway between Charlotte and NYC, just off the interstate. It's heavily used, I think, and the teeniest bit run down (coffee maker broken, but usable, shower curtain rod loose and drooping, but functional). They don't have the usual breakfast spread, but give a coupon for the attached Perkin's restaurant. It's been surprisingly quiet both times I've stayed, and the bed is fantastically comfortable; it's a good place to recharge before another day of travel.

    5
« Very clean, courteous, affordable! »

The hotel was easy to check into. Muffins and coffee in the lodge at all hours. Great front desk staff. Perkins restaurant is on the property and the hotel gave us $2.50 off for each person. Very clean room and comfortable beds. Nice large flat screen TV. Our room was $61.00.

    4
    « Pleasant suprise »

The hotels location and friendliness of the staff make this and easy choice for short and extended stays. Would be a great location for a home base while exploring the region on vacation, Close to eating establishments and shopping.

    3
    « familly »

Hotel staff was great . The facility was clean and well kept but well used. The breakfast was in the attached restaurant and was very nice.. we just did an overnight and were quite pleased with our Stay

    5
« Great Place with Convenient Rates »

The hotel is the best place to stay when in Winchester. The staff is very helpful and courteous. The same goes for the staff at the Perkins restaurant that is part of the hotel. Both hotel and restaurant are great and they both have a lot to offer with resonable prices and rates.

    « Nasty roaches »

I stay at best westerns a lot all over the country. I am a platinum member and will be a diamond member by end of week, so i know my BW hotels. I checked in and when i got to my room the AC didn't work. Manager comes up and says "its blowing cold" lol ok .. I got another room. The remote for the tv didn't work, and when i got the tv on, the channels were fuzzy. The seats looked like a sweaty butt say on em and were never cleaned, ripped mattress and when i saw the german roaches i grabbed my stuff and checked out. Im sleeping in my cat tonight. Thx BW winchester. Nasty stinky rooms.

    4
« It worked for what I needed at the time. »

I needed an affordable place to spend a couple of night close to where I was house hunting. This one came up as such. I had a second floor room in one of the sections near the road and there were no elevators so had to schlep everything up and down. The AC was adequate at cooling as this was a particularily HOT week. The room was clean and the bed comfortable...always a plus. There was a fridge as well..useful. The shower was a bit off the first morning as the water would not get warm but stayed HOT. The next day it was fine. I ate at their restaurant and was not dissapointed for breakfast or a late taco salad lunch. The only down was the road noise from those idiots who love to gun their vehicle off at a light. There were other sections that this would be less of an issue. Staff was friendly and helpful.

    4
    « Vacation »

Overall we enjoyed staying here, friendly staff, nice room except for the filthy carpeted flooring. Suppose it is hard to keep carpet clean when you come right into the room from the paved parking lot, but they could try a little better. The Perkins Restaurant joined in with this hotel was lovely... great food and service!

    4
« good for the price »

The internet connection was OK The room was clean and comfortable The pool looked very nice and there appeared to be a nice area to relax. The location was noisy as it was near the highway and there was traffic all night. Emergency vehicles went through fairly regularly

    4
« Nice place to stay »

My wife and I stayed here on our way to skyline drive. Rooms were nice, clean and bed was very comfortable. When we stayed I had a hard time finding the office as there was signage. Perkins restaurant in the same building, you get a discount coupon when you check in. Other restaurants within reasonable walking distance.

    « Great 2-star hotel! »

Not fancy, but, oh, so clean! Comfortable bed, semi-firm, but with some give. Friendly staff. Good air conditioning. Although an older hotel(we stayed there, 25 years ago), with drive up to your door, very quiet. Rooms and furnishings in very good condition. Had a little trouble with the TV, but nothing significant. Reported it to staff, who were appreciative for the information.

    4
« Not a great place, but purty doggone good! »

This is a very good 2-star hotel. Our only complaint is some minor issues with the TV. Room was comfortable, quiet, and very, very, very clean. One of the cheaper hotels in the area, even when compared to 1-star hotels, and a very good value. Would not hesitate to recommend it!

    3
« trip to visit family »

The room was clean and well decorated. We thought everything looked very nice. Smelled and looked clean. The first morning when we got up the light went out in the bathroom. We left the fan running hoping that when they cleaned the room they would fix the light. They did not. We came back. The bed had been made, new towels everything clean, light still out. The second night we were there our keys didn't work and we had to go back to the desk and get them to re-activate them. The young girl at the desk was very helpful and had our keys fixed in just a minute. Overall it was a good stay.

    « Stinky »

I'm a loyal Platinum Elite member with Best Western. I expect a hotel to provide what is promised. Disappointingly, this property did not. The non smoking room reeked of stale cigarette smoke so much so that I'll need to wash clothes and shower just before departing. Management is not doing its job when this happens...it not being aware, or, ignoring a stale unacceptable room. I'll be writing to management and corporate requesting a refund. This is an older property and needs a remodel and freshening. Check in clerk didn't acknowledge loyalty status...no smile, no greeting, etc. Stinky cigarette smoke in supposedly non smoking rooms has happened a few times. Best Western, I'm likely going to be moving my loyalty to other hotels that have newer, fresher properties. If you're listening Best Western, respond.

    « good »

good time the pool at the hotel was so nice and all the people were very nice we always love to stay here when we come ti o winchester its sour favorite place to stay its great and the restaurant there is really good to. i recomend it to anyone for a great stay

« Clean room with courteous staff »

Convenient location, friendly staff, clean room. The bed was not comfortable to me, and the fairly loud A/C unit kept turning on and off throughout the night. Granted us later checkout time when requested.

    3
« Ok, but could be better »

The customer service and staff are exceptional. The rooms were fair, the pool was nice. It was a place to sleep. Could there be things made better? Yes. There is NO breakfast provided by the Hotel. The vouchers for Perkins restaurant are a joke, equaling $2.50. I had trouble with the internet, but after about 15min are calling the help desk, they got it figured out, and the speeds were very good. The beds were comfortable and the refrigerator worked really well. If you want more than that you will have to spend more and go somewhere else.

    5
    « One night »

This was a very good hotel, from Check-in to departure. Room was clean, decor was excellent but slightly worn. Staff was very good. Good parking and easy access to major roads. Attached restaurant (Perkins) was excellent (food, service and staff). A pleasant stay.

    4
    « Pleasurable stay »

My stay was rather peaceful compared to other reviews. WiFi slower that expected but it worked. Short encounter with staff but they were polite. Traveled from Chicago IL to Winchester VA and I'd stay at the best western again

    5
    « Nice Stay »

    « Clean. Comfortable. Convenient. »

We stayed overnight here on our way to drive the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park the following morning. The hotel is one of those where you back your car right up to your door, i.e. there is no central hallway. The good part of that is it is nice and easy to unload the car. The bad part is that your door is right next to the parking area so there is quite a bit of associated noise. While this was a bit of a problem early in the evening, by 10 PM it was pretty quiet. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely firm and I gad trouble sleeping. The sink is immediately adjacent to the bedroom with no separation, so it is difficult to block out the noise associated with your spouse if s/he rises early. The shower was one of those with a tub but the tub was a hot tub ("jacuzzi") and was deeper than normal. A hand hold would have been nice to add stability while entering and exiting the tub. When we arrived the light in the shower/toilet room did not work. The front desk person came and changed the bulb, but why didn't housekeeping note that when servicing the room? Also, the sink ran vary slowly and it was literally impossible to run the water for more than a few seconds at a time without accumulating a sink full of water. We just put up with it but again, why didn't housekeeping report this (or if they did, why wasn't it corrected)? No complimentary breakfast. There is a Perkins in the main building and a $2.50 per person discount is offered hotel guests. All in all, our stay was OK but not great. If we return to the area, I'll check out options before returning here.

    5
« Clean affordable place to stay »

We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting the area. It's convenient to lots of places to eat and shop. The service was great. The bed was wonderful! We had just left another city traveling home where the rate was 4 times the cost and our back hurt everyday from the lousy bed!

    3
« Decent. Could be better »

This was my first stay here and I wasn't all that impressed. The staff was nice and helpful, but the room had some issues. The shower didn't work very well and the room was really cold and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. But it was a reasonable price and I can't complain about that

    4
    « Big, clean room »

Arrived at 10 pm and leaving in the am, so I can't tell you much. What I can tell you is the room is big and clean. The bed is comfortable. There is no complimentary breakfast, but you do get a coupon for 20% off from Perkins, the restaurant where the hotel's front desk is located. I am happy with the hotel.

    5
« We felt the love!!! »

We were so blessed by the hospitality demonstrated by the staff this past weekend! Plus the room was very clean, smelled great, very comfortable firm mattresses and little outside noise. We will definitely stay here on our next trip home from NC! Thanks!

    3
« Good place to stay for overnight »

Location was great, rooms could use some updates and they really should have someone inspect the rooms after cleaning.. The room we stayed in appeared to have been missed for dusting for quiet some time. Pool was clean.

    3
« Some good, some not so much »

On the good side, this motel is pretty clean, arranged in separate buildings with easy access, staff friendly, quiet, and a nice outdoor pool. And the biggest plus for me was that I could bring my dog for a low $8 fee. On the downside, however, our key cards got deactivated the first afternoon of our stay so we had to go up to the desk to be able to get in after lunch. Our room had no service on our first day, so back up to the desk for clean washcloths. No breakfast as usual in Best Westerns. There's a restaurant on site so breakfast is sold there. Not a bust, but I don't think I'll stay here again.

    3
« Convenient and pet friendly »

We needed a place to stay with our dog on a recent road trip to North Carolina. This hotel was pet friendly and was conveniently located across the street from Shenandoah University which had many scenic paths on campus to walk and get some exercise. The Perkins restaurant on site was also very convenient.

    3
    « Convenient and quiet »

I stayed 7 nights for a conference. Room was at the back of the property and VERY quiet with no road noise. Bed was hard, but big. Room came with fridge and microwave. Cleaners were good. Small fitness room. On site restaurant was good value and nice food.

    4
« Tired and hot after a reenactment »

we were tired and hot after a weekend at the reenactment and needed two things: good a/c and a good bed. This motel fit the bill perfectly! The room was already set at 61 when we unlocked the door and the bed was fabulous! It is an older style property, spread out, but there was room for our truck and trailer. It was a little hard to find, since the Perkins sign is bigger than the Best Western one, but for the value, it was a great place.

  • 2
    « personal »

Air conditioner in room was not working very well to cool room. was given another room and that air conditioner was worse than the first room. went back to the first room. There was a very large wedding going on, so available rooms were just about sold out.

    5
    « clean place »

Great hotel for the money! Much better than I expected. The staff was very friendly. It was very clean especially the bath room. Looks like it had recently updated except maybe the carpet. My wife and I was looking for a place just to spend the night that was cheap. I would have no problem staying again! The check in and out was has easy as I have ever seen. Good location right off the highway close to shopping and food. I have spent a lot more money on far worse places

    5
    « Great stay »

Price is right. Clean rooms, nice breakfast in Perkins. Staff is very nice and attentive. Easy access to interstate and attractions. Definitely recommend this place. There are some nice attractions nearby and a beautiful downtown area.

    3
« Good for Overnight Stay »

We stopped overnight at the Winchester Best Western/Lee Jackson Conference Centre on our way to Orlando. The hotel is large with a Perkins restaurant attached. The room we were assigned was clean and was adequate for an overnight stay. Breakfast was not included, but we were give 2-$2.50 vouchers towards a meal in the restaurant which we used for dinner that evening. We were told if we planned to stay for breakfast, to ask for 2 more, but we left early in the a.m., so did not take them up on the offer. The hotel is located in close proximity to the off-ramp to the highway and right next to a mall. That said, it was quiet and we had a restful night's sleep. I would not recommend this hotel for a long stay, but for overnight travellers it is a good option.

    3
    « Quick place for a wink »

We got in late and left early. Not sure if there was a continental breakfast since we left early. The room was clean. The beds were hard. Had a hard time sleeping. The rooms are kind of in a maze. It was difficult to find our room at first. Walked all over the upstairs! The ice machine gave out pellet ice which was cool.

    4
« Great place to stay »

This is a pet friendly hotel, but if you request it they do have no pet areas. It's easy to find, and very clean. There is an outdoor pool, very good sized. They have cable TV and high speed internet for free. There is no free continental breakfast, but they do have a Perkins restaurant onsite and when you check in they give you a coupon for $2.50 off your breakfast at Perkins for each person.

    5
    « Layover »

This was the halfway point on our driving vacation!! It was fabulous!!!! Clean, quiet, comfy, and the best part..... The deep jacuzzi tub!!!!! What a little gem on a long drive!!!! Bonus?!! Perkins pancake house, and dunkin donuts!!! Enjoy ur stay!!!!

    2
« Mold in jacuzzi, heavy layer of dust on headboard »

We usually stay at a Best Western when we travel and have never had a bad experience?.until now. The hotel could use some updates, at the very least. But, that's just cosmetic. The real issue for me came when I decided to take a hot bath in the jacuzzi tub. After filling it with hot water and submerging myself (including sticking my head under the water to wet my hair) I couldn't help but notice black mold floating in the water. Apparently, the jets hadn't been cleaned out in quite a while. Gross! In addition to that, it was blatantly obvious that the place hadn't received a good cleaning in some time, either. I wiped a thick layer of dust off the headboard. Dirty hotel room. I'd never stay there again.

    5
    « Excellent »

Right from the beginning the service was professional and excellent. The room was clean and even as a pet friendly room it smelled clean and fresh. The pool area and grounds were very clean and well kept. We will definitely stay here again and recommend this Inn to our travelling friends and family.

    4
« Traveling throgh Virgina on I 81, make this one of your stop overs »

Recently traveling for work I came to Winchester for a few days. Drove right straight here following my GPS. The place is one of the best kept motels I have seen in a very long time. Mopping the walkways to the rooms, very clean parking lot, super staff in the front office and a restaurant right here. The room was clean and relatively modern with a flat screen TV. My room AC was not up to par and rather than just telling me to move, in like 15 minutes it was replaced! Readers of my reviews all know that I travel a lot, I am always grateful when a property makes you feel this comfortable and welcome... Thanks to all the staff!

  • 5
« Great service and friendly »

The staff were great. I had just driven 446 miles with my dog and they were very helpful and fast with check-in and very attentive to my dog. Josh, in the restaurant was professional and attentive to my needs. The morning staff were also excellent.

    4
    « A good place to stay. »

We stayed there just one night on our way to NY. They were pet friendly as we like to travel with our dog. The room was very comfortable, and it was very quiet. A nice pet walking area. The staff was very friendly and nice. Would recommend this Inn for travelers.

    3
« Disappointing at any price »

We had planned to be further along our way down 81 so didn't really have much time to research a hotel. We figured this would be fine for the night and checked in at 11 pm. Drove around to our room at the rear of the hotel to see the lot filled (nearly every spot) with tractor trailers. The rooms smelled stale. We had reserved a king room knowing it would be a flight up but wanting that big bed. When we got into the room, there were two double beds. Too tired to do anything about it, we made do. At about 3 am, that packed lot of tractor trailers began to empty as one after another started up their engine and drove away. Paid the same for one night at the Comfort Inn in Greencastle, PA. It's the Ritz of lower cost hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Perfect for what I needed »

I stayed in 11 rooms this trip and this was the best. I arrived during bad weather. I lucked into this place because it was close and I couldn't handle the weather any longer. Front desk personal were great. The Perkins attached to the lobby was a life saver. The room wax typical BW. Clean, comfortable, and the price was right using CLC.

    2
    « BED BUGS! »

My wife and I stopped at this place midway between my parent's place in NJ and home. Nice "looking" room, except that we reserved a king-sized bed, but they were out when we got there. We settled for 2 twins. Woke the next morning to find my wife's legs riddled with bed bugs bites (doctor verified upon returning home). The Perkins Restaurant within the complex had some of the best pancakes ever, but I don't believe we will be stopping there ever again.

    3
« What you might expect of a cheap motel »

The best part is that if you are traveling through and just need a place to sleep, this is a cheap place to do it, and you won't feel unsafe. It's respectable in that sense. Otherwise, it's not super updated, no modern furnishings/decor, kind of janky in-room amenities (microwave, fridge), non-working TV cable, and not entirely clean. The bed was super hard too. On the up side, the AC unit was really quiet and kept the room cool with low humidity. They also accommodated our request to have a second level room.

    « Cleanest hotel »

I would have to say the hotel was the cleanest we have ever stayed at. The staff was friendly & helpful. Perkins is with this establishment & they have a wonderful Eggs Benedict. The bed was to hard for us but we are used to a memory foam mattress, so we did not sleep well at all. The pool was wonderful for my daughter & husband. I forgot my suit, so maybe next time. I would give a perfect score but the bed was an issue for me.

« Meets our expectations - great employees »

We are pretty brand loyal with Best Western. Never had stayed at this location, and made the reservations over the phone with Destiny on the front desk. She checked us in at the time of our stay, and she, as well as the other employees have a positive attitude, and treat customers well. The room was clean, and the price was fair. We ate at the Perkins rest, and it seemed to have gone downhill a little since our last eating there. The office is hard to find, as there is no sign on it, and it is in the same, seperate building as the Perkins, and not connected with the hotel buildings. So, when you go in, just beware of it. We circled the buildings, trying to find the office. If this is the worst complaint we have about this location, it is a good thing. We both would reccomend staying here.

    « Stayed 2 minutes.... »

Walked into a shabby room, heard yelling outside by another guest, and decided to walk right out. It was about 6 pm and did not want to be there later that night to be nervous about what was going on outside.

    « Not so great »

Quite a lot of problems during my 1 night stay there. But 1st of all, I had a good night sleep ready for my drive to TX. The hot shower was horrible. After a long distance drive, all I wanted was a good hot shower to freshen up. But it was lukewarm, low pressure with the droopy curtain. The sink was clogged up when I brushed my teeth. The fridge was rocking back and forth but it worked. The checkin receptionist was cold, no Southern hospitility here. The room was shoddy.

    « Nice Hotel »

The room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking (I was pulling a motorcycle trailer). Quick check-in and check-out. I will stay there again. The toilet was an "industrial" force flush toilet. Never saw one like that in a hotel.

    5
« Nice location, comfortable sleep. »

Conveniently located to but far enough from the interstate noise. Excellent service on check-in. Easy parking in front of room. Room very clean and spacious. Wifi and tv free. Room quiet and comfortable. Adjoins Perkins restaurant and discount coupons available.

    « NEED TO STAY »

The stay was very relaxing, and quiet. Clean rooms, close to the Mall and other surrounding stores, restaurants, sight seeing. The staff is very friendly, polite, and helpful. Perkins Restaurant also has polite, friendly staff. They have carry out. The rooms are very clean, and roomy, they have Wi-Fi, Fitness room that you may use. They allow pets also.

    3
« Good value, but long in the tooth »

The price was definitely right for the area, and pet-friendly. The hotel could use a facelift overall and in the rooms. The bed was nice though - good linens and very comfortable. The TV was small and appeared to be non-HD (or perhaps that was the cable). The room had a small fridge and microwave, which is nice. Unfortunately, all they had available were smoking rooms - I had to go buy a scented candle to cover the smell.

« A Stop on the Way North »

In general we have found Best Western hotels to be a good place to stop. This Best Western was clean, neat, and the employees helpful. The Perkins Restaurant attached to the lobby was convenient. We got vouchers to use at Perkins, which we did. There was no option for a free breakfast as with other hotels. Everything was ok, but not outstanding.

    « Civil War Trip »

The location was great, food was great, other resturants close, as well as a grocery store for beer. The staff was great & friendly. Stayed Tursday & Sunday night & would stay again. The motel was an older one , but has been updated.

    3
« Noisy place but good location »

My fiance and I stay here because of the reasonable price and the availability of parking for my truck and trailer. It is also easy to access I-81. We are in the hotel room only during evening and there always seems to be too much noise from the other guests and folks partying in their banquet facility. The amenities are marginal. If you are looking for a good night's sleep, go somewhere else.

    4
    « stayed before »

This motel is consistent in good customer service, carpet needed cleaning but rest of room was very good. This is my 4 th stay here. I will continue to stay here on future trips. Adjacent Perkins restaurant is a good place to eat anytime.

    4
    « Old but clean »

$74 after AARP discount. Just a stopping place on the way back home. Coffee, cookies, fruit available most of the time. A $2.50 per person discount coupon for the adjacent Perkins restaurant and bakery. The bakery is fantastic. For a meal try the BLT salad!

    3
    « It's ok »

It's a motel basically. Not much nearby but close to I 81. Room was small but functional with fridge and microwave. Stayed overnight on way home from Fla to Ottawa Canada. Not much around in terms of restaurants unless you include Perkins located on site. 10% discount for breakfast if staying at the BW? Texas Steakhouse next door is closed now so Perkins crappy menu is all there is. Not much else nearby. Look for some other place that offers some better food selection. Staunton maybe??? . Desk service was adequate.

    « Not A Good Experience »

We made our reservation 3 months before our arrival and requested a room on the first floor of the "dog" wing. Although we know that it was a "request", when we arrived late afternoon, we were told there were no rooms available on the first floor of a 2 floor building. I simply can't believe that at 5 PM, all the first floor rooms were occupied. Obviously, no one bothered to read our request. There is no elevator. Now the room itself - the rug was filthy. I wear socks in hotel rooms and they were disgusting. The sink did not drain - it was painfully slow, forcing us to use the bath tub for simple clean ups. Only one bed side table. We were told the hotel was completely full so they could not give us another room. You can do a lot better at another chain.

« Gem of an old dinosaur hotel »

Top notch. Gone are the days of exterior access hotels being safe or stay worthy. Not so here. We travel the I95 corridor often and have stayed here several times over many years. Our pet friendly ground floor room actually had the light on in the room when we arrived. The room smelled nice, a spray of some sort but pleasant and fresh. Furnishings a bit worn but still nice. The bed clean and fresh and comfy. Linens thick with a bit of a starched like hand. Pillows 3 per bed. Room lighting was superior Some hotels trying to save a penny have bulbs and lights that you need a flash light in the room. TV nice flat screen, a bit snowy pic though Bathroom spotlessly clean. Wonderful shower, nice hot water. Frig and micro. Fridge had ice area and was cold Again many hoteliers try to save and keep their fridges almost warm. A nice clean room, good rest at a fair price. The only thing that might have been nice was if upon checkout this morning the clerk had asked if everything was okay. She did not, but that was okay A nice Perkins rest attached.

    « A nice surprise in Winchester »

I had to go to Winchester to perform in 2 venues. It turned out this date was The Apple Blossom Festival, so the town was very busy.I secured a reservation at The Best Western at a GREAT rate and was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff and the room. I recommend this hotel strongly.

    « Interesting »

Stopped for the night enroute south. My sister, daughter in law and I got into our room which on the surface seemed clean. In reality , Blood and dirt on the interior door and on the bathroom door. Rooms are super noisy and very very dated . Hoards of construction workers drinking beer and listening to music outside of their rooms . Then at 5:30 am the same people start the diesel trucks and let them run for about an hour . It's cheap for a reason . Don't let the best western name fool you ! Terrible place

« Older style motel but clean »

I used my rewards points that I booked online 1 day before my arrival and it took the young man about 30 min. to hand me my key card. Also they used 12,000 of my points at check in and the room was only 8.000 points and he could not put my points back into my account. The room was older but clean. Only a 2 star because of the 30 min. wait to get my key and I booked online.

« Nice Room and Good Value »

Convenient on/off from highway, helpful, pleasant staff, clean, comfortable room. Perkins restaurant on site was awesome along with discount as hotel customer. Was able to walk to mall close by for some last minute shopping.

« Nice place to stay »

The Best Western in Winchester, VA is a nice place to stay. It has a Perkins restaurant on the premises. Room was comfortable and relaxing. The hotel is right off I-81, conveniently located. Staff was excellent with prompt service.

« Reservation mixup, & rude hotel clerk »

I called this hotel directly app 2 wks prior to our arrival, & specifically requested 2 first floor rooms together, with parking access near the rooms, as I was traveling with my 80 year old father who has very limited mobility. I was assured that the rooms were reserved as requested, & actually decided to stay here due to being given this assurance. However, when we arrived, at app 5:30 pm, we were told our rooms would be on the 2nd floor, & not together. There is no way my father can climb stairs, & he needs some assistance in his room, which is why our rooms need to be together. The front desk clerk, whose name was Destiny, was very rude & cold during our entire interaction. She informed me rudely that she knew nothing about my request, because I had not spoken to her! Needless to say I was rather taken aback . I was relieved that we were then offered 2 rooms together, on the first floor, as I had requested, but suddenly, she informed me that one of those rooms was not actually available, after already giving me the keys! Not knowing what else to do, & having nowhere else to go with a disabled 80 year old man, at now almost 6pm, their cancellation deadline, I said I needed to speak to a manager. The clerk then immediately decided that I was being "rude & disrespectful", (I definitely was not- I was slightly upset & flustered, and confused, as anyone else would have been at this point) , & she announced that she was going to cancel our reservation & call the police. Seriously. I am about the most harmless middle aged lady you've ever seen lol. I was absolutely astounded. I politely repeated my request to speak to the manager, who thankfully appeared, was extremely apologetic, and helpful, & did indeed allow us to check into the 2 first floor rooms. In fact, every other employee here who I encountered during our 2 night stay, could not have been more courteous, helpful, & pleasant. I do not understand why someone with Destiny's demeanor, attitude, & lack of any customer service or hospitality skills is doing working at the front desk of a hotel. I have never in my life experienced anything like this in any hotel ever & hope I never do again. I certainly hope this person does not remain in her position, as she is clearly not qualified to deal with hotel guests. I am giving a 3 star review, rather than anything higher, completely due to the unpleasant experience we had checking in. Other than that, I was very satisfied with our stay. The rooms were clean, fairly quiet, with comfortable beds. I was told by another desk clerk when I was checking out, after asking how to avoid a reservation mixup in the future, that it is best to call the hotel directly, as I had, but to ask for room # assignments at that time. I would definitely consider staying here again, when traveling with my father, since their setup is ideal with being able to park near the rooms, & avoiding him having to walk long distances.

    « Extremely nice Hotel »

Staff and room were excellent. Hotel was easy to get to off I-81. Attached Perkins restaurant was very convenient. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with all the amenities. The breakfast was a voucher for the attached Perkins restaurant.

« Clean and Fairly Priced »

We stopped for the night along the route to our vacation destination. We chose the hotel based on price and reviews. Everything was excellent for a 1 night stay, except that the bed was probably harder than the floor. The room was clean, everything worked and there was free coffee in the morning.

« Good stop when traveling the I-95 »

The main reason we selected this hotel on our trip from Florida was that it is pet friendly and it is conveniently located just off the I-95. Great hotel for a inexpensive and short sleep over before you head back out, north or south, on I-95. Breakfast was not included however you are given a $2.50 coupon /person to use for dinner or breakfast in the adjoining PERKINS restaurant. They gladly pack your order so you can eat in your room and watch TV like we usually do. Our first floor room ( 2 floors ) was comfortable but nothing to rave about. Couple of minor negatives about our room ( was located in a corridor that led to back ) was that we could not park directly in front of our room. The walls were not very sound proof. The lights in the corridor shone in our room somewhat because of the curtains. All that said, it was good value and I would return again next year, no problem.

    « Reservations mean nothing »

We had a reservation for a first floor room because we were traveling with a large dog. Got here and they had us on the second floor, at the furthest end away from the stairs. Those of you who have dogs know how much stuff you have to travel with. When I made my complaints known I was told that second shift doesn't assign the rooms so it wasn't their problem. And the room? It looked like it was furnished from a second hand furniture store. The table was literally nailed back together and poorly at that. Never again!!!

    5
    « Classy Service »

The hotel is in an excellent location and has great amenities with a good restaurant on site and was very competitively priced. The service of staff was great and accommodated all of our needs. We would definitely stay there again.

« BED BUGS!!! Worst hotel experience ever!! »

On March 25, 2016, I was driving home from VA to MD late at night with my husband and 2 young children. I got too tired behind the wheel and we decided to stop. My husband chose this hotel on hotels.com. It was rated well and it would be an inexpensive place to stay for the night. We were assigned Room 232. We walked in and the room was outdated but SEEMED clean. Cleanliness is all that really matters to me. We were all exhausted when we checked in (it was around 10:30pm) and climbed right into bed. We always leave the bathroom light on for our kids. That light helped me notice a bug on my husband's pillow as I started to close my eyes. We thought it was a tick because we had been hiking around in a park earlier in the day. We flushed it and got back in bed. We were out like a light. About an hour later, my 3 year old woke me to go potty. I was sooo tired, but I'm soooo glad she woke me up! I noticed another bug on my husband's pillow!!! At that point, he wondered if they were bed bugs, not ticks. He googled them, and yes, THEY WERE BED BUGS! they looked just like the picture! Aaaaaaaah! I hesitated, but lifted my pillow...2 more of them! Pulled back the sheets, found 2 more! Then found 2 crawling along the mattress! I started freaking out (full on panic attack) and my husband called the front desk. Luckily, we only found them in our bed and not the bed my children were in. My husband took one down to the front desk in a cup and the front desk person apologized and confirmed that it was a bed bug and told my husband that they hadn't had them there in 1.5 years. We were offered another room but my husband stated that we just wanted a refund and wanted to check out. We were only there for about 2 hours. I was wide wake at that point...and itching...we checked our clothes for bugs, then drove the remaining 2 hours home. We all stripped down in our garage (you DO NOT want to bring bed bugs into your home) and we gave the kids baths and took showers at 3:30am. Fun night! To make matters worse, no manager or owner ever called to apologize to us as we were told they would. It took 5 calls from me over a week's time to finally get in touch with a manager. The calls were obviously screened by the courteous front desk staff. The manager had always "just left 10 minutes ago" or "I'm not sure when or if they'll be in today, may I take a message and have them call you back?" I WAS NEVER CALLED BACK and left a message each time! So, I finally get in touch with a manager (I didn't bring up the bed bug issue that time) and I'm told that she will submit a form to hotels.com for a refund and that my account should be credited in 2 days. I waited 5 and still no refund. I try to call the hotel again midday but the manager isn't in...what a surprise! I then get the bright idea to call hotels.com directly. That agent was wonderful! She said that no form had been submitted by the hotel to give me a refund. I'm livid at this point. Really? What poor managing at the Best Western! The agent put me on hold to call the hotel directly and was able to speak to a manager right away...again, what a surprise! They weren't there for me 2 minutes before. She processed a refund for me and it took 2 days to go into our account. Hotels.com even gave us a $20 coupon for a future booking with them. It wasn't THEIR problem. See what good customer service looks like Best Western???? Learn from hotels.com...their agent apologized for my experience at YOUR hotel. So not only did we have to deal with bed bugs in the middle of the night with our young children, but it took over 2 weeks to get our money back and NO apology from hotel management regarding the bed bugs. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

    « Friendly & Economical »

I have been here over a week, and everything has been very nice. The service is friendly, and everything works and is clean. I have breakfast most mornings at the Perkins restaurant on-site. The location is very convenient to the mall and Walgreens. I would easily come here again.

    3
« "Get what you pay for" »

Inexpensive as far as Best Westerns go. No complementary breakfast but a discount coupon for the on-site restaurant. (a Perkins which was very good). Check-in kind of funky as you use a side door or go through restaurant. We got to assigned room and housekeepers were still cleaning it. Room 121 was just ok but located in a passageway and the room shades could not keep the light out. The tub did not drain properly. The TV signal was weak and several channels were not watchable. This by far was the worst Best Western I've ever stayed at. Would not stop there again.

« Best Western Great place to stay »

Heading south on way to Carolinas and Florida re pleasure vacation. We have stayed here 6-7 years as we pass through. So reasonable and the staff is terrific to accommodate the guests. They have an arrangement with attached restaurant which makes things so good to travellers. Best value for your buck and such a pleasant place to stay We stay there on the way south and also on the way north on way home as well . It's such a convenient place and we 're planning now to return back to the general area in late summer to explore the surrounding area as well ..

    4
    « Good Value »

This was my second stay here and it was better than the first. Our room had been recently remodeled and it was very nice. The amount of hot water is still lacking though. It is very convenient to 81 and it has plenty of good places to eat nearby. For the price it is a good value for a short stay.

    5
« Very Nice and Convenient »

This hotel is conveniently located off of I-81. The hotel staff was friendly, and the rooms were clean. A plus is that the hotel accommodates dogs. There is also a Perkins onsite which makes it very nice when travelling with children.

    « Always pleased »

I was pleased with out stay. We usually stay at the Best Western Lee-Jackson Inn & Conference Center, Winchester, Va going south and returning north. It's always clean, the staff are cheerful and helpful and the beds are great!

    « Excellent location-friendly staff »

Located in the Shenandoah Valley, very nice location and next to interstate, easy on & off. Room was very comfortable except the beds were a little hard for my taste. Very close to restaurants & shopping. Staff were pleasantly friendly & helpful

    5
    « Excellent facility »

My wife and I stayed at this Best Western in Winchester , Virginia on our way home from a vacation in Florida. I would rate the facility and the staff as Excellent! Common areas and guest room were clean and well cared for. The bonus was that a Perkins Restaurant was part of the facility. We enjoy dining at Perkins so this only added to the experience in a positive way. I would highly recommend this hotel.

    2
    « Out Dated »

The only good thing about this Best Western is the location. Easy access to the interstate. This place needs a drastic upgrade to the entire place. Probably better to just tear it down and build a new one.. Not sure when it was built but it seems like the 50's. If you do decide to stay here, the lobby is in the Perkins Restaurant. Not very well marked.

    2
« Would not stay there again »

The lobby was very hard to find and poorly marked. The woman that checked us in was very good, but that is about the only positive thing that I can say. The room was rather shabby and poorly lit from the outside. It did not feel like a secure location.

    3
« not much for loyalty »

I stay alot at motels 150 a year. Unless your a aarp or signed up with some outside discount. The discount for loyality will be 10% period. At comfort inn (choice hotel) they will negotiate with you on price because of loyalty I have started staying with best western hoping for the same with more consist room quality but not much a loyalty discount.

    4
    « Very interesting hotel »

This is an old fashioned motel but nicely updated. Having the Perkins Restaurant attached is a bonus. It was cold and windy the morning we left which made it open nature unpleasant, but the night before when it was warmer, I found it an interesting arrangement. Though not conducive to walking, it was nevertheless an easy walk to the Apple Blossom Mall.. Also the place was easy to get into and out of for travelling on I-81. I would stay there again.

    5
    « Always a good experience »

This hotel was clean and comfortable. I requested a first floor room which they were able to give me. It was a very pleasant stay. The hotel was conveniently located right off of the highway with many restaurants and gas stations nearby. They also had many rooms as it is quite a large hotel, but many separate buildings so you are able to park in front near your room with little walking.

  • 4
    « Nice place to stay . »

very close to shenancoah university. lot sof restaurants and shopping nearby. beds were very comfortable. internet worked, but mostly we just got there and went to sleep. the only things was that it was hard to find where you check in at, since it is located in front part of Perkins restuarant

    4
« Very good quality and inexpensive »

The Conference Center needs more obvious identification of the check-in office. It's in the Perkin's restaurant which does not seem affiliated with the hotel. There are tons of restaurants in the area in addition to the Perkins. Very good motel/hotel at an inexpensive price.

    2
    « Where's my room? Where's my room? »

She told us it was around back. And after awhile we did find it with help from a cleaning staff, though the numbers on the rooms were not sequential around the corners of the various buildings. Small room. Smaller bathroom with its sink separate. Place was clean however, and the beds comfortable. There was a gap in the door frame through which smoke from a guest seated on a bench nearby wafted through. There is no soundproofing, and it was a rather noisy location. It was convenient for those traveling route 81. Wi fi was really slow, basically worthless.

    4
    « cheap and decent »

Fridge was loud and shower curtain rod was almost broken loose from mounts, BUT! room was cheap, clean and quiet. bed was GREAT! All in all was happy with the room. Biggest problem was that I couldn't find the lobby!! It is ACTUALLY located next door on the side of the restaurant. Staff was all very friendly as well.

    3
    « Good Value »

We like this hotel as it is close to interstate. Rooms are clean but had problems withe mini fridge and the internet. We stay at this hotel when we travel to this area. Beds were very comfortable and lots of parking.

    1
« Certainly not up to Best Western Standards! »

The room we stayed in certainly did not reflect recent reviews! The room was not clean, mold in the bathroom, chipped tiles and mirror in the bathroom, broken light shade on floor lamp, lumpy old mattresses with inadequate mattress protectors etc. This is not a hotel, but a motel with outside entrances which is badly need of a reno! To add insult to injury, they present you with a $2.50 coupon towards a meal or breakfast to try to convince you to eat at the attached Perkins! No free hot breakfast at this Best Western! The price that we were charged did not reflect the room we received! We have stayed at other Winchester hotels and will avoid this one in the future!

    4
« Best Westerns are a lot better than what I remembered. »

This is the second Best Western where we have stayed in the past year or two and were pleasantly surprised. Very clean, linens were fresh, people were nice and homemade cookies and snacks were offered in the lobby everyday. The only down side was the shower - very weak shower flow. Beds were very comfortable, I wished I could have stayed in bed longer - but we had to get on the road.

    4
    « good place »

I have stayed at this one several times in the past with no problems. This last time however the bathroom shower rod attachment had been broken, also the king bed in this one was not comfortable. However the staff was not made aware of this by the previous occupants, So I would think they will correct these issues for the next person that stays there. I will still stay at the Winchester location regardless, just got a bad lemon that nite.

    4
    « Rooms clean »

The staff was personable and the rooms were clean but they need to consider updating the rooms in the near future. The hotel is just off the interstate which makes it very appealing. Perkins Restaurant is attached to the hotel and you get coupons off for the meals. Good deal.

    3
« You get what you pay for. »

Not bad, not great. Price was right so we used it. Beds were very uncomfortable, pregnant or not and the exterior door to our room locked properly but when closed left a gap in the door jam, enough to push it and hear it knock against the frame. Didn't like that at all.

« My regular stop going to TN. »

Bathroom could be updated with safety bar in tub area. But overall, this facility has always met my expectations. Convenient to several excellent restraunts and BW guests get a voucher toward a meal in the attached Perkins restraunt. Cleanliness and staff friendliness and help is what I look for and this BW has both. (Because this is also a conference center, motel guests might themselves without a parking place if a large conference is scheduled)

    3
    « Enough Already! »

More care should be taken in the HVAC system as the unit in our room had a thermostat tha was completely out of whack....desert heat when set at 70. desert heat when set back to 64...ended up shutting the unit off overnight....is this an example of B/W cost cutting measures??

    3
« Good warm place on a snowy night. »

Snowing when we got there. Nice front desk people. Very busy. Comfortable nice clean rooms. Beds not very comfortable. Perkins right at office so we did not have to travel to eat. That was a definite plus. Would stay again. Easy access to i95 and other restaurants.

    5
    « A wonderful place! »

This property is a must stop for us on our way to Florida. It is a people place- they care about YOU! From Lacey at the front desk, to the owner, to Amy the General manager, to Debbie our waitress- great people! In 2015, I stayed 47 nights at a Best Western property. This is not the most luxurious place- but it's clean, it's friendly, it's location is phenomenal (restaurants, shopping center, grocery stores, cinemas- so close, seconds access to highway)- this is one of my all time favourite properties. This is my kind of place- it's what I expect and the value is terrific. Don't take my word- stop in for yourself!

    4
    « Perfectly fine »

Nothing fancy, but a decent room at a very good price. I stayed because I was on a long drive, got tired and just needed a place to sleep. Found this Best Western n my phone and it was easy to book from the app.

    4
    « Great Access to Shenadoah U. »

The Best Western Lee-Jackson Inn & Conference Center has easy access to I-81 and is immediately across Millwood Rd. from Shenandoah U. where I was attending a conference. The good firm bed in the room was especially welcome. Restaurant was convenient to breakfast and lunch. Overall, a positive experience and I will definitely consider staying there again.

The pillow top bed was a treat and the staff were most helpful and treated my wife and I as if they really cared. They gave us coupns for breakfast for the adjoining restaurant and were served a delicious full breakfast efficiently. Thanks for a relaxing night we will be pleased to come again.

We stayed at this Best Western on night a the end of December 2015. This hotel is very well maintained, bathroom was spotless and bed very comfortable. The Perkins restaurant on site is excellent. We had dinner and breakfast -- food was great and reasonably priced. I left my purse behind in the room and within a few hours I received a call from the staff on my cel phone. Since we were already on our way to Florida, the manager Jodie sent it to me by Fedex -- the parcel got to destination before I did. Thanks Jodie and staff for your honesty and helpfulness. Great stopping place for snowbirds!

Excellent stay and great price - get the coupon book as you enter the State and you get a great deal. Very pleased with room and staff at reception desk. Very clean room and easy access off the highway.

    « Very disappointed »

We have pets & have always counted on Best Western to meet our needs. This past stay was miserable. We requested as always a first floor room as I have a slight handicap. We were on the second floor,in a room that was only partially furnished and we had to be moved. The bathrom was not ADA compliant had no grab bar or safety matting so it was not possible to,shower. Altogether is was a most unpleasant experience although one of the desk clerks tried to be helpful. The other one blamed the morning clerk who made the room assignments. The morning manager apologized and gave us a small re-bate which was hardly compensation and we shall not be using BW again.

I love this hotel! Great employees, Perkin's restaurant right off the lobby, clean room with a full kitchen! Just wish there had been pots and pans and cooking utensils available. It is right off the highway and so convenient to get to. This was the second time we chose to stay at the hotel and we plan to stay again. Pricing is excellent!

The customer service, hotel accommodations & amenities always exceed my expectations. The one problem we experienced with the guest room lock was immediately addressed by the Front Desk Personnel. The maintenance staff in addition to being competent was equally cordial. It's a perfect stay away from home for business or family travel. The restaurant food, menu selection and staff made the stay a complete pleasure.

This hotel is a terrific value at a great location. The property is older but very well maintained. The property has several separate buildings and is in a very quiet location. If you are staying in Winchester it should be at the top of your list.

Thankfully for smokers the Best Western Lee-Jackson In & Conference Center in Winchester, Virginia still offers smoking rooms. The facility is very good overall, though the room I stayed in seemed a bot dated. The attached restaurant is convenient and the discount coupon is a perk (though most places have an on-site breakfast buffet these days). The TV remote control only worked if you had it at the same level and directly in line with the TV.

Winchester, Virginia is half way from my home office to a project I am presently working on. The hotel is convenient to the interstate and offers in house dinning. The staff are professional and knowledgeable and truly courteous. will recommend to all my associates, have always preferred BEST WESTERN as my hotel of choice.

we always plan our stay when we are on the road to make sure we use this hotel. always a pleasure, always have an easy time getting in & always pick this hotel because of the excellent service & the perkins restaurant onsite is so much more convenient instead of looking for a place to eat. you will always be comfortable with both the hotel & restaurant!

No hot water for showers in the morning and a desk attendant who's response to our complaint was uh-huh pretty much sums it up. Definitely not recommended. There are other hotels nearby. Stay at one of them.

    « All the Difference »

I have been visiting this hotel on a fairly regular basis since June of 2015. Since then, I have stayed in the hotel (on average) twice each month. Early on, a few of those visits reminded me of awkward first dates--missed cues, mistaken terms, and little disappointments. There were problems with my bill: after returning home, I discovered I was charged twice for the same visit, and no one at the front desk seemed able to resolve the issue by phone. There were problems with the room: no phone in one room, no clock in another, a pretty horrific smell in one of the smoking rooms (of course, we expect a relatively strong smell in any smoking room in virtually any hotel or motel, but this was beyond strong), worn-out features in the rooms (stains on rugs, curiously dingy tubs, a poorly-appointed kitchen in a king efficiency room, an adjoining room when one was not asked for, mattresses that were way past their shelf life). Although all these things are true, they don't tell the full story of the hotel. It seems to be in a state of flux, on its way to genuine improvements in its facilities and rooms. In the time I have been going there, the lobby has been completely renovated. There are always cookies or apples and coffee waiting for guests in the lobby. Vouchers from Perkins (which is attached to the lobby and banquet facilities) worth $2.50 are given to each guest, for each night of his or her visit. The rooms themselves are improving, too: the linens and pillows on the beds almost make up for the usually tired mattresses. And along with what seems to be fairly fresh (and well-applied) paint, the wall hangings in the rooms are actually quite visually appealing. Most rooms have mini refrigerators and microwaves--which are in need of upgrading but still supply the basic service of the appliance. There are irons and ironing boards, small coffee makers, and flat-screen TVs that are programmed to work with remotes that are designed to be easier to clean and disinfect. The heating and air conditioning units are older, but they work exceptionally well for their age. All in all, the facility is in the process of moving from average or just below-average to good. But that fact still doesn't provide a complete assessment of the facility or an explanation of my overall rating because its best feature--its staff--has yet to be factored into the equation. Each time I have had any difficulty with my room or billing, I have communicated my experience to the manager, Amy Guzman. Without fail, she apologizes for any disappointment I might have experienced, clears up any issue with billing, and encourages me to give the hotel one more chance. In fact, she has given me a coupon for 20% off a visit that I have yet to use. The bottom line with her is that the buck stops with her: she will respond to and address any concern her guests have. The front desk people (in person) are incredibly polite and professional. Even when their computer system is having difficulty processing a change in information or printing a receipt, these people explain whatever is going on and apologize for the delay. In general, their service is what you might expect at a four- or even five-star hotel. And the housekeeping staff is just as helpful. Although there are other hotels in the area at which I could stay on my trips to Winchester, I have committed to this facility for one reason: although its facility shows signs of wear and many things about the room could be improved upon, its people are as reliable and helpful and pleasant and professional as any staff at any four-star hotel at which I have ever stayed. And that makes all the difference. P.S. Ask for a first-floor room that has parking directly in front of the room. Ask not to be put in a room on the back of the facility (the rooms are fine, but there is less lighting there, and down-and-out rooms still require a walk up stairs). If stairs don't bother you, ask for a room facing the college (Shenandoah). The outdoor pool (which closes in September, I think) is well-maintained, if small. You can request later check-out times, if necessary, and it is important to know that this is a pet-friendly hotel, which I think is just terrific Finally, there are coupons in coupon books available at some rest stops and places such as McDonald's that will give you a better rate. Because of these coupons, I currently spend about $56 a night during the week; weekends are a bit more expensive.

    « Not the Best »

Too hard to find the lobby, it's not attached to the actual rooms, but is attached to the Perkins Restaurant. Rooms are run down and need some attention. The beds are hard as rocks and not comfortable at all. No free breakfast, only vouchers for $2.50 off your meal at the Perkins. The only good thing was the price.

    « I got lucky this time... »

Got Lucky this time...December 4, 2015 Moving is often precipitated by hardships...this move certainly so. When i arrived, bedraggled and stressed by a cat shrieking in my ear for 6 hours straight, non-stop, the people were very kind. Upon glancing in the mirror, i felt lucky to be allowed inllowed in. It was that awful. The kindness from the people at the desk, all of them, as well as the beautiful lady who came to clean, helped me get better fast. Not to even mention the reason i went to them in the first place...the "multiple cats" thing which most motels wont allow, even though they say they are "pet friendly". Will never consider another place now in that area, even without the cats. I will be travelling back and forth down I-81 many times to get the rest of my stuff. Thank You, Best Western Lee-Jackson Inn & Conference Center, Winchester, VIRGINIA!

« Decent Place to Stay »

Very nice room for the money. It's clean and well kept. Lack of complimentary breakfast and a lousy picture on the television stopped me from giving them 5 stars. In lieu of breakfast the hotel gives you $2.50 coupons per guest for the Perkins restaurant adjacent to the hotel.

« Not what you'd expect from Best Western »

This entire property is old and tired, not at all what I expected from the Best Western brand. It was late, and we were tired when we arrived, so I'm glad I only needed to stay one night. I would not stay there again.

Personel is great and rooms are comftable for the price. Breakfast is good too. The place was really clean and the Internet was fast enough to watch my favorite TV show over the Internet. It was near the 81 and easy to reach. Place looks secured and a well lighted parking.

« Not the Ritz but great price »

We stayed here on a "just get out of the house" get away. We arrived around 3pm and were checked in by a pleasant young man. We had been assigned a room on the 2nd floor and I asked for a room on the ground floor. I had also read reviews on Trip Advisor that suggested that rooms in the rear of the property was quieter, so I also asked for a room in the rear. The front desk clerk did as I had requested and we were assigned room 155, a room with a king bed. The room was clean and furnished with all the basic furniture one would expect. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds that I have ever slept on. I had wanted to inquire as to what brand of mattress that it was but forgot to ask. There is a Perkins restaurant on the premises. Breakfast is not included in the rate but you are given coupons for discounts at check-in. The only criticism that I have is that there is to much light let into the room because the drapes just don't do the job efficiently.

« A Return Visit Confirms That This Is an Excellent Budget Motel »

We have stayed at this motel four times now, all because we have pets and because the location on the interstate is so handy. This is a budget motel, with rock-bottom prices--but don't be put off. It provides excellent places to walk your dog. The rooms are comfortable, though nothing fancy. The people at the desk are friendly. And you can order take-out from the on-site Perkins. All in all, it fits our needs to a tee and we couldn't be happier with it.

Stayed here for one night. The hotel was nice. Our room was clean had a nice Jacuzzi tub. The bed was a little uncomfortable and there wasn't much parking. Otherwise we liked this hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

« The price is right »

I would like to give a 3+ because it is a little better than average. We had reserved a second floor, non-smoking room, but at check in we were in a smoking room. We were changed to a first floor non-smoking room. I do not like first floor rooms for several reasons which were all a problem with our stay. Cars pulling into the parking spaces shine light into the room, lack of privacy, noise from upstairs and the stairs leading up to the 2nd story. There was also a smell in the room which was a room deodorizer or something left from cleaning. Whatever it was, it bothered me all night. The bed was super comfortable, but the outside lights prevented a great night's sleep. The room itself was large and very clean. The furniture had some scratches and nicks, but was OK. There was a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, etc. The TV was small and the reception was not good ( trying to watch the World Series and there was so much snow on the screen it was hard to make out the ball). Breakfast is not included, but were given a $2.50 coupon for Perkins Family Restaurant (on premises). That would buy a cup of coffee and tip. I might stay here again if only passing through and for one night.

« Great staff, clean, and Perkins too »

Needed a place near Route 81 as a halfway point to rest. Really did not expect much because of the price. BUT I WAS TOTALLY SURPRISED, to find a very friendly staff at the front desk, a very clean room with a refrigerator and microwave and right off the lobby is Perkins Restaurant to grab a quick bite. Another nice touch is the lobby coffee was hot and fresh.

« Much to be desired »

First, the place is clean, the beds and pillows are comfortable, and the shower and a/c/heat are all in good working condition. That said, though, the place has some real issues. The rooms need a third lamp or light source. The two lamps leave the room a little dim. Second, our room lacked a towel rack. The fittings were there, but the bar was not. The real problem, though, was a policy which seems incredibly discriminatory, and this is a policy shared by many hotel chains. When I made the reservation, I specified to the reservations clerk that we needed two adjoining or adjacent rooms on the first floor because we would be travelling with my 92-year-old mother-in-law, who walks with a cane because of her arthritis and needs us close by. When we got there, the front desk said that the only rooms available were two adjacent rooms on the second floor. There are no elevators. Their excuse was that the hotel was booked through the weekend and that the hotel only tries to honor such requests. The manager stepped in after my complaints and managed to find two rooms on the first floor, but they were too far apart for us to be of much good to my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law eventually decided to tough it out, but only ventured out of the room once each day that we were there. Such a policy discriminates against the elderly and infirm. With my mother-in-law unable to tackle the stairs to go out to dinner, we instead ordered take-out from the Perkins attached to the hotel each of the three nights, as well as for breakfast. Only once did the restaurant ever fill the order correctly, and then only because I stood at the door checking through the bag before leaving and questioned the server about an item. Every other time I had to go back downstairs and across the lot to the restaurant, sometimes more than once. Even check-out was an ordeal, taking more than 20 minutes, as the clerk had difficulty with the computer with both the couple in front of me, and then with me, as well. We have gone to this hotel for years, and this is the first time that they have messed up so badly. It might, however, be the last time that we stay there. We will likely give them one more chance, but if the problems persist, that will be it. Finito.

    « Awful stay »

First of all the room smelled musty when we walked in. We turned on the fan which should have been on before we arrived and this helped. The toilet in the room would not flush. We called the front desk and she told us she was the only one there and there was no one to help. So we asked her to leave a plunger by our door which she never did. We had to stay in a room with a toilet that did not work from the moment we got there. We tried to go to sleep at 10pm because of an early start on the road that morning but there was so much noise outside. By 11 pm the noise was just as loud so my husband called the front desk. The person who had just taken over went outside and asked the kids to keep it down. The did for maybe 20 minutes and then it started again right outside our door nonstop until 4am. Needless to say we got very little sleep and could not wait to leave this place. We found out the next morning when checking out that there were a whole bunch of college kids staying here while their dorm rooms were being worked on and all they wanted to do was party outside their rooms. The hotel had no security and the college had no one to oversee the students. The room was clean but due to a lack of a working toilet and noise outside our room all night this had to be one of our worst stays at any hotel ever and we have stayed in a lot.

« Do not stay here »

This was a terrible experience. The room was filthy, there were things broken, unknown stains on the carpet, black mold in the bathroom. The noise level all night was completely unacceptable. A car alarm went off for 40 minutes, I was booked next to two ladies with barking dog, and at 4am in the morning the trucks came to dump the dumpsters outside for at least 20 minutes. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. There were people outside my room talking until at least 3am. Car doors slamming, you name it you could hear it all. I tried calling the front desk several times and no one answered. When I complained in the morning I got an apology, with a question of why didn't I call the front desk. My reply was I did.

    « Unpleasant stay »

Bad experience from the start. They were sealing the drive and parking lot at hotel and had minimal signage to direct one to the registration area. One inexperience employee in check in area that spent 80 to 90 percent of time answering the telephone. The so called NO SMOKING room we were assigned to REEKED of cigarette smoke. After another delay at registration we were assigned another room. This room while better than the first, .had a nasty cigarette smoke odor. If you are looking for a smoke free room avoid this site.
