    « Great Hotel »

We decided to stop over in Williamsburg to sightsee while traveling home. This hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. The beds were so comfortable and had plenty of nice pillows. The breakfast bar was hot and fresh. Location is excellent. Close to all attractions.

    « Very good value »

I found the hotel to be very clean the staff were always courteous and responded in a polite professional manner at all times. It's a huge plus with a family to not have to worry about one meal each day. The breakfast was fresh each day. The proximity to Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown is huge. I wish I had the time to take advantage of the indoor pool, maybe next time. I highly recommend this hotel.

« Shop till you drop! »

I came to shop and spend the night. The hotel was very clean and friendly. It was easy to get to from the outlet mall and it was also close to Merchant Square...but not walking distance. I would like to come again! I bet it is beautiful in the winter too.

    « Will Stay Again »

We enjoy this hotel. It's nicely furnished and good staff. It's convenient to many places to eat and tourist attractions. The eggs on our last visit in the spring were awful and we went elsewhere for breakfast this time.

« Close to Historic Williamsburg »

The hotel front desk staff was very pleasant. Discount tickets for Williamsburg are available at the front desk. The room was clean. Close to the areas of interest. Had to check out one day early and the front desk person inquired if it was due to anything wrong with the hotel or hotel service. I assured her it was not.

« Overall, a good experience and wonderful staff! »

Overall, a very postive experience. The problem was the inability to run the a fan on the a/c and heating unit in the room. It was annoying to have the fan cycle on and off all night. Would of liked to run the fan all night to help with the outside noise. Also, no fan in the bathroom.

    « Williamsburg Getaway »

We have stayed at this Best Western several times over the years and really enjoy our visits here. The rooms are always clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast is varied, plentiful and tasty. We already have reservations for a stay in December and look forward to this next visit.

    « Highly recommended »

A highly recommended hotel which provides at a decent price big and updated rooms, comfortable beds and a good breakfast. This was the only best western hotel that we enjoyed our stay in it during this trip and can be considered equivalent to other brands.

    « Pros and Cons »

We stayed in room 312. See pros and cons below as well as a summary of my opinion. Pros: The free breakfast is definitely good. Fruit, sausage, french toast sticks, eggs, breads, etc. If you are looking to save money on breakfast this is a great spread. The lobby area is really pretty and modern looking. Quick responds from front desk. Microwave and refrigerator in rooms. Cons: The rooms feel cheap/outdated. Some of the furniture in the room is very worn - especially the cabinet that holds the refrigerator and microwave. Beds are hard. There was holes in the bathroom walls that looked like they had tried to fix the plumbing at one point, but never sealed up the hole. Bathroom space is tight Shower curtain isn't long enough to keep inside the tub The doors that are located towards the back of the hotel need your room key to get inside - and this never worked for us. We even got new room keys thinking this would fix the issue, but it never did. This might have been the most annoying part of the stay considering there was no parking out front, so we always parked in the rear of the building. Summary is this: Its a fine budget type hotel. No frills and a little worn inside the rooms. The rest of the hotel seems up to date. I would stay again if the price was right just for the nice free breakfast.

    « Clean room, good rate~ »

Very clean room, bed was comfortable and plenty of hot water. Great location for visiting Colonial Williamsburg as it is only a mile away. Many restaurants and stores within a mile, and a Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral across the street. Breakfast was good with the usual hotel fare: eggs, meat, waffles, cereal, breads, yogurt, coffee, juice. All was fresh and kept well stocked. On-site pool and fitness center was clean and modern. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.

« Recent stay in Williamsburg »

Hotel located close to tourist areas and very reasonably priced during the weekday nights but prices doubled on weekend nights. Hotel was clean, staff were helpful, room was comfortable. Breakfast could have been better stocked.

    « Okay.... »

Unable to get into room because battery dead on door. Had to switch rooms. Picked this hotel for free breakfast. Errr. Coffee bad and eggs bad. If you just want toast and cereal....woo whoo. Key card still temperamental. Bed hard. Pool and jacuzzi not crowded. Room clean.

    « history getaway »

This hotel need serious updates. Every piece of furniture was scarred, beat up and uncomfortable. The beds were too small and mattresses so uncomfortable we had to split up and use both beds just to get some sleep after four hours of tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. Most everything did appear to be clean although stained and discolored. Heat/AC unit was too noisy but typical for that type. We were stuck in this hotel by a marketing company giving us discounted housing so we would go to a sales presentation so I didn't feel I could complain but I surely wouldn't stay there again under most any circumstance.

    « Good value »

This was a GOOD value for the money. If you are looking for a clean place to stay this is it, for what my husband and I were looking for. Now, it is not a place with a lot of frills but we were not looking for elegance. We were just wanting a clean place with daily housekeeping. You can smoke outside. Breakfast is included with the room. The staff is great, as is housekeeping. The motel is VERY centrally located for shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again if back in the area.

    « Hidden Gem »

We have stayed at this hotel (Best Western Historic) the last few times we have visited Williamsburg and recommend it highly....it is clean, very guest friendly and in a good location....it is a hidden gem.

    « Great location »

This hotel is only minutes from the village of Williamsburg. So many restaurants on the 'strip', too, ranging from fast food, to family style, to steak houses. Fresh made cookies available at the front desk in the evenings. Only wish the coffee machines in the breakfast lounge were on during the day and evening. It was much better coffee than what was available in our room.

    « Wonderful Staff »

This was one of those vacations where some things went wrong. We arrived later at the hotel than planned due to heavy rain and several highway incidents on our journey down to Williamsburg. We called the hotel ahead and were assured our room would be held until 6:30am the following day. We checked in and went to our room, leaving our things with the intent of getting something to eat. But, we couldn't get out of the room! The door was locked from the inside and the handle wouldn't move. Laughing, (was this an escape room?) we called the front desk and were liberated from the room in less than five minutes. Even the night clerk, I can't recall his name, found it odd and funny. He immediately put us into another room. Since the room was the same number as our house, we took it as an omen and moved to the new room. The room felt warm, but we assumed the ac wasn't on. My husband checked. It was on, but it was on low, so he turned it on high and we went to get food. We got back and the room was still warm, in fact it was stifling. We turned down the temperature as low as it would go and ate our food. The room was not cooling down. We were so tired after our long trip, we just didn't have the energy to ask to be moved to a new room. I never sleep without a blanket, especially not with ac on, but I did that night. In the morning, after finding out that the hair dryer didn't work, we asked to be moved again. We were spending a total of three nights at this hotel as we were going to Busch Gardens Hallowscream, and we couldn't tolerate another night in a hot room. The desk clerk gave us a new room with time to gather our things in the current room which was very hot by then. Just as we were about to move out, the manager called and told us she was moving us across the hall. She checked the ac and hair dryer herself. The moment I entered the room, it felt so much cooler. Third time is the charm. Yet, it wasn't. We returned from Hallowscream and couldn't get into our room. The key card wasn't working. So, we trucked down to the front desk and the clerk activated new key cards for us. Overall, each of the rooms was very clean and the staff was wonderful during all of our problems. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were fluffy, yet didn't flatten out when we laid on them. Breakfast was good. They actually had cheese on the side for the scrambled eggs. The attendant kept replenishing everything and cleaning the tables. Even with all the weird things that happened to us, we blame it on the spooky season, we would stay here again.

    « Anniversary Surprise »

Stayed at the hotel for our anniversary weekend. Husband had arranged to have flowers delivered. The hotel staff went above and beyond to decorate our room and added extras to help us celebrate our anniversary. It was a wonderful surprise!

    4
    « Guy at desk! »

The gentleman who greeted us on our arrival made this an average stay to a good stay, I think his name was Derek but maybe not.....we arrived 14th September if that helps! Worth his weight in gold to this hotel! He was so helpful and polite (far nicer than anyone else we spoke to from the hotel). So welcoming and could advise us on our needs. Room was clean and tidy and beds were quite comfy. Location wasn't too far from centre and only $10 taxi ride if you needed it. Well worth checking out!

« Wonderful Base for Touring »

A great place to stay for visiting the colonial triangle (Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown) and not overly expensive. Their breakfasts are very good and the staff is friendly. Getting to and from the motel is a bit of a challenge without using GPS, but GPS makes it relatively easy. A lot of amazing restaurants nearby that aren't overly expensive either.

    « Week at Williamsburg »

Hotel was a good value and included and indoor pool and hot continental breakfast in the morning. Best feature was location, which was less than a five-minute drive from Colonial Williamsburg and about a fifteen-minute drive to Busch Gardens. There were many restaurants within a short drive, as well. The hotel itself had good staff and was kept clean. The pool could have been nice, and temperature was always too warm or too cold. Breakfast, though cooked in the morning, was lacking in quality and dining area was always very crowded. Not an automatic return for me, but I would go back if I could not find a better value.

    4
« Convenient to Colonial Williamsburg »

Check-in was smooth, staff was helpful, room was clean and quiet. The hotel was close to Colonial Williamsburg allowing for easy access over two-day visit. Also location allowed for easy access to area restaurants, James River Plantations and James River Ferry.

    2
    « Decent Hotel - Horrible Staff »

The hotel itself is nice for the price but the staff was so rude that I felt like I was an inconvenience to them whenever I needed something. Otherwise, the hotel is just minutes from Colonial Williamsburg and many shops. I loved the location.

« Housekeeper Asked if we wanted our Room Cleaned »

first we had to change from our original room since the AC unit made a terrible noise then the second morning there my wife and I see the housekeeper in the hallway she has the nerve to ask if we wanted the room cleaned we didnt know what to say it was just not professional at all we came back after a whole day out the bed was not made and the garbage was overflowing from the cans management did take a very small ammount off the nightly stay b ut still this was just unacceptable we wont stay at Best Western again

    5
    « Best receptionists ever! »

This was a positive experience from the moment we arrived. They had our room ready early. The daytime receptionist had already actioned our room requests and noted our BW membership. She answered all our questions and had answers to questions we were about to ask. Maps, directions and leaflets to everywhere we needed. The room was well furnished including unusually two chairs at the table. WiFi was good but my wife had a problem connecting her tablet. The evening receptionist did everything she could, eventually ringing a helpdesk, before finally sorting the problem. The breakfast area was smart and recently refurbished. Breakfast itself was typical American fare. We had a problem with our fridge and our phone (partly our fault), but this was promptly fixed by a very pleasant maintenance man. We are very experienced travellers who have stayed in dozens of hotels in various price ranges in many countries. We can honestly say that we have never had better service than we got from Alexis and Tye. If only everyone had their "can do" attitude.

« A little dated but wonderful welcome »

We have just spent 2 nights here in order to see Historic Williamsburg. The lobby and breakfast area have clearly just been refurbished and are lovely but whilst the rest of the hotel is very clean, it tends to be dark and quite dated. The receptionists are wonderful and so are the waiters who keep the breakfast area spotless and filled up. What a team. It was lovely to have a coffee maker and a fridge in our room. I don't know if taxis are available but be warned it is quite a long, but extremely pleasant walk to Colonial Williamsburg but so worth it. Tickets are $40 dollars which gets you into certain venues, but we chose to just walk round. Certainly worth seeing.

« Power Went Out & No Emergency Backup... »

I previously rated this hotel. My daughter goes to school in Williamsburg, and we are BW rewards members. This is the closest BW to school. The power went out during the pass through of Hermine this past Saturday. Wife was in the tub when the power went out. Total blackout, and no emergency power whatsoever. Not sure how this is possible or legal for a hotel. About 20 minutes into the ordeal, the desk called to inform us that flashlights were available at the front desk. Power was out for at least 2 hrs. forcing us to go to my daughter's apartment to work on the computer. At check out, I asked about compensation for what went on. I understand that they cannot be responsible for acts of God, but not having backup power, in my opinion, is inexcusable. We were informed that there would be no compensation. Had we been stuck on the elevator, they have the ability to manually open the doors. Absolutely no customer service, AGAIN. Last time down we stayed at the BW in Newport News, a much nicer and cleaner outfit. You should weigh the drive time if you are a BW rewards member. In my opinion, the drive is not bad back to Williamsburg, and the operation there is light years ahead of what you will get at the BW in Williamsburg.

    « Not a Best Western PLUs »

Dirty room, stain in carpet, finger nails on floor , leaking sink faucet, broken dining chairs, rug ripping up near window in dining area..... Must say indoor pool was great except for leaking ceiling.

    2
    « Not the greatest »

We arrived here after a long drive of about twelve hours and were extremely tired. Thankfully, when we walked in, we were greeted by various extremely friendly staff, who got us our room immediately. The room was not the cleanest. There were spots on the mirror, and even a pin in the middle of the room that luckily no one stepped on. The pillows we also found to be not very comfortable. If you decide to take advantage of their free breakfast, get there early. There were no seats left when we first came down, but luckily some opened. The food served was just meh. Also, we decided to head down to the vending machine one day to get drinks. We got the drinks, and they were warm. When we asked a worker, he said all the vending machines were like that, and we were confused. However, when we went down to the pool vending machine to be sure we had drinks for the road, the drinks were ice cold, so that was odd what was said. The other thing that earned this hotel its second star is its location. We never had to drive more than 15 minutes to get to any major attraction which was nice. Overall, despite the nice staff and great location, I am not sure we would stay here again unfortunately, due to the issues with our room and the breakfast.

    4
    « Great value »

Our overall experience was very pleasant. After checking in we received a call to make sure everything was ok with the room. My only 2 minor issues were that when we got to the room after a long day out the AC was off. We called the front desk and no one ever answered. My husband eventually figured out what was wrong with it. My 2nd complaint would be the breakfast, although very nicely set with tables it was overcrowded. They did try to accommodate by setting additional table up outside. And the coffee was TERRIBLE!

    2
    « Filthy Dirty Everywhere »

Everything about this hotel was dirty and disgusting. Check the photos and judge for yourself. The chair in room had so many visible stains, we didn't even want to put a bag on it. The staff offered to replace it with one that was no better. The gym equipment looks like it has never been cleaned with drink stains everywhere and dust bunnies clogging the air vents. The refrigerator stand was disgusting. The bathroom vents were clogged with dust and the mirror revealed "graffiti" scribbled on it by previous guests when it fogged up. Rusted bathroom fixtures that looked like they were about to fall off the walls. Dust on top of the door handles. Was so happy to check out the very next day.

« Great hotel at a fair price. »

Rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Property seems well maintained and safe. Room had a king size bed and a sofa, fridge, microwave, iron and board etc. Breakfast had a great selection with all the things you would expect plus eggs, sausage and tater tots. Hall carpets worn and dirty but that was the only thing that wasnt perfect. There is an indoor pool.

    4
« Nice stay for the right price »

Had a very nice stay for the price we paid./ Enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and the breakfast and the staff was very nice. The location was convenient to Busch Gardens and Water Country. Convenient location to the shoppes and restaurants.

    « Very Nice Stay »

The staff at this hotel are wonderful and helpful. The stay was very nice with no problems with the hotel at all. The room was clean and the bed pretty comfortable. (Pillow top mattress but is a firm mattress). The breakfast was good overall and we did not have any problems finding a place to sit. This was a nice bonus and money saving service. They also have tickets to local attractions as a little bit of a reduced price which was great. This hotel is very close to Colonial Williamsburg so no long drives which was a real plus. The only thing I found not totally up to par was the carpet in hall/walkway area was not clean looking and a bit dated. The carpet in my room was clean. The room overall was very clean. I would return to this hotel in the future it was a great stay for the price.

    3
    « Well-priced with ample amenities »

This hotel looks to be going through a remodel. The entry and breakfast space was very modern and the staff was both friendly and helpful. The pool and jacuzzi were much needed after a long drive and although you could tell they were well maintained. The entire hotel was immaculate and the rooms were no exception. The rooms could still do with a bit of work, starting with mattresses. My kids shared a bed and they were quite comfortable, but my husband and I both felt the bed was hard. We both had a hard time sleeping and I also felt the A/C unit wasn't consistent. On the other hand, there was a flatscreen tv, microwave ,fridge, and decent shower pressure, which I believe all hotels should have.

    « Just okay »

There are a lot of choices in Williamsburg and this one is close to the entrance to Colonial Williamsburg. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. We arrived around 4pm. We were given a room on the 4th floor. The elevator was a little slow but when we arrived at our room it had not been cleaned. I went back to the desk and one employee grabbed sheets and went to clean to room. They gave us another room so we did not have to wait. The room was reasonably clean, however it appeared that the maintenance was not of the highest quality. The paint, the caulking round the sink/tub looked like an amateur did the work. There were water leak stains on the ceiling. The towels were old with any softness washed out long ago. There are lots of choices and I would not pick this one again.

    3
    « Family Trip »

Location was great as it was close to all area attractions. Room however, specifically the bathroom, definitely needs some updating. Free breakfast but if you want a table make sure you go down early because you will have a long wait for a table. The breakfast area needs to be better organized, especially the toaster section. The wait on the line took way too long. Maybe have that at the beginning of the line or move it altogether to it's own separate section. All in all the selection wasn't bad and best of all it's free.

« Best Hotel That I've stayed In »

This hotel is close to Williamsburg and the Water Park and Buch Gardens. The rooms are very clean and the house keeping staff does an excellent job of maintaining that level. Very friendly staff and they all have a smile on their faces. used the breakfast and it was a great bargain. Used the pool and it was very clean. My experience was great and this the third time I've stayed at this hotel. Will go back again

    « Felt Like Home »

I want to say that my family and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Historic area inn at Williamsburg, Virginia. The staff was so pleasant and kind. I felt like I was home. The Housekeeping crew are awesome. Very positive. Maris and Asheika at the front desk are so kind and professional. What a great way to come to a hotel and be greeted by these two wonderful ladies. The housekeeper Cookie is the sweetest, kindest, housekeeper. Even "P.C." who helps maintain the buffet bar was very entertaining and he maintained his areas to a Capitol T. I would come back again for my vacation next year. I truly appreciate the staff for taking care of my family. Well worth it and the AC in the rooms were great. Thanks to all the staff. Everyone is deserving here.

« Good, but not great »

This is actually the second time we stayed in this hotel, and we would come back. So that said, why not a raving review. I booked this place months in advance and got a really good price. Came with two grand kids, so the indoor pool and free full breakfast were both drawing cards. The down side; our room was a bit small, only standard size double beds, and was located right off the lobby. That made access to the pool and breakfast area great, but also added to the noise. TIP, do not accept room 107; ask for something else. Additionally, the hotel wifi did not work in the room, except right by the door into the hallway (I should say, it did not work on either of our iphones or my ipad, but it did on my windows laptop). I asked about it twice, but did not get any adequate response. We found a dirty pair of kid's underpants under the sink in the bathroom, and the coffee maker in the room was missing the basket so it could not be used. We told them about the underpants and the maid took care of it. Since I was right off the lobby and the coffee/breakfast area, I just left the coffee maker alone. It was a bit odd that the nearest ice maker was on the second floor. The pool was OK (it was better on our previous stay). The water seemed cloudy and it was closed one entire day (out of our four-day stay). That said, the price was very good, the breakfast decent, the location fine and the room clean. So, if the price was right I might stay here again, but not in room 107.

    « Family Vacation »

Best Western is a good place to stay for the price. It has friendly staff members. The house keeping staff go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. It is very close to all the Williamsburg attractions. Has a very nice breakfast area but get there early because of seating.

« An awesome hotel in Williamsburg, VA »

It was my 2nd time to stay in Best Western Plus Historic Area Inn hotel because it satisfied all my needs. The hallway and breakfast display were modern and lovely. The bedding and the room are comfortable and clean. The internet connection is fast and I like their new computers around hallway. My family also liked the hot breakfast with a variety of choices, even including French toast. The hotel staff was very helpful and considerate to give me a late check-out as well as the outlet direction. Overall, I strongly recommend this hotel and will stay again when I visit Willamsburg.

    « Really enjoyed our week-long stay. »

Booked through priceline.com as part of a package and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was welcoming, helpful and attentive. They were VERY busy the week we stayed (7-20 to 7-27-16) but the staff made excellent suggestions regarding the best times to take breakfast, the best places to visit, and offered several discounts on local restaurants and attractions. Very well situated near Colonial Williamsburg and the shopping outlets as well. Although busy the breakfast staff kept up with demand and the breakfast offering included eggs, meat and a carb daily (either bacon or sausage; either french toast sticks or tater tots), as well as a good selection of cereals (both hot and cold), breads, apples, oranges, yogurt, both whole and low-fat milk, fruit juice and coffee. Our room was clean and well-appointed, and included a fridge and microwave. Would stay again!

    « Satisfied visit »

First I had a difficult time finding a place to stay for a visit to go school shopping. The room rates were pricy for the weekend as I typically go with a Hilton property as my first choice or Marriott as my second choice. I went with Best Western after reading the reviews. After a two hour ride, my family and I arrived at the hotel greeted by a young lady named Asheika. I was advised that my reservation through a thrid party was for the next day. Totally my fault so, I could only be upset with myself. However, Asheika was able to place my family and I in a room at a discounted rate. I was so happy as the day was very long and I was tired. The next day my family enjoyed breakfast thanks to the hotel. We went to the local outlet for a day of shopping. Later, we needed to leave due to an illness. Because I made the reservation through a third party, there was a possibility that it would not be refunded. I contacted the third party customer service and spoke with a rep and was advised that he would ask the manager if I could cancel with a full refund. After less than a 5 minute hold, the rep advised me that the hotel manager Maris approved my cancellation with a full refund. Thank you Maris! So my stay at Best Western was well worth the visit and I would stay again in hopes of seeing both Asheika and Maris. They were really sweet and helpful, thank you!

« Great place to stay. »

Nice clean hotel, good location, rooms were excellent, great pool, good breakfast and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. My very fussy husband would definitely stay here again.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

While the Best Western isn't the best hotel with everything in it, it was still an adequate Hotel. We booked this hotel as a last-minute getaway and we were pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and spacious and while I saw several complaints about breakfast, we have none and there was even a big group here. We had no problems getting a seat. The breakfast choices were very nice with choices of hot and cold items. The rooms are older but then this is an older Hotel. The staff here was very friendly and helpful. While this isn't my first choice of hotels as I am used to different accommodations, if I had to I could definitely stay here again. The only thing is I would suggest that they update the hotel room so that it matches what you see in the lobby. And the carpets need to be cleaned or new carpet put in. I have been that if you are on a budget and want to be close to everything while hearing Williamsburg this is a good choice.

« Pleasant stay for long weekend »

Upon arrival, my family and I were checked in promptly. The front desk staff was friendly enough. Many updates have been done to the lobby and breakfast room, but the rest of the hotel has not been updated for quite some time - there is a definite multiple personality thing going on with the decor being extreme modern in front and Colonial for the rest of the building. Our room was comfortable for a family of four. The bathroom and sleeping area were clean and the beds were comfortable enough. There is an indoor pool, but we did not use it since we were in tpwn to go to Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, and Colonial Williamsburg (all within reasonable driving distance). Breakfast in the morning were mixed hot and cold items. There was a good variety and the presentation was good; however the room was very crowded and lacked space for people to sit. One morning we ate on the patio. This Best Western is a good overall value for traveling families. If I went back with kids again, this would be a good choice.

    « So Disappointed »

The room was not what we expected. The staff was too relax and almost unprofessional. The room was not what we expected and looked as if it was rushed. The couch smelled horrible, the desk chair was stain and nasty, and there was a roach that crawled into the bathroom as we were heading down to breakfast. We were unable to book another hotel on such short notice at a decent price (refused to spend almost double). They switched our room which looked better and very clean but the damage was done. The breakfast was nothing to sneeze at; they kept running out of items by 8:30 and it wasn't over until 10am! WILL NOT BE BACK!

« Best bargain in Williamsburg Va »

We have stayed at this hotel at least 6 times over the past 2 years and find it very clean. The employees are very friendly. The breakfast is very good with a nice variety of food. We will continue to use this hotel.

    « Smoking room for non-smoking guests »

My wife booked this room through Expedia. The hotel site did not designate smoking vs non-smoking. Upon check on the clerk at the front desk offered to check for another room but alas nothing non-smoking was available. This is a sneaky way for the hotel to sell its very stinky smoking rooms to unsuspecting tourists. The room was ok. It had the usual small wear and tear flaws but it reeked of smoke. Nothing had been done to even attempt to clear the smoke smell from the room. So here we were two people with smoke allergies stuck in this stinking room. We made the best of a bad situation but work up with full sinuses and soar throats for two days until we left. The bed was ok. The hot water was scalding hot and the cold water was lukewarm. The indoor pool was nice but a bit cloudy with chlorine and the outdoor pool was like bath water. Breakfast was average coffee and fruit were always available. Rating would be a 4 star if they had been clear about their listing of rooms available on Expedia

« For the price, could get better »

While we have stayed in far worse places, this BW was disappointing. I'll start by saying the staff was great and the location is spot on. The pool is large and warm, and the three video/pinball games were a nice touch. For the price ($109), however, I think you could get a much better experience from one of the many other hotels in the same area. Note the Internet was not working while we stayed, and I was asked to actually call the Internet company to work it out. After 30 minutes, I was told there was an equipment problem on my floor. Unfortunately, we could not connect from any floor, and ended up tapping the Econolodge wifi from next door (had an important task to complete). Was told by staff that the hotel has problems with Macs and iPhones, but this seems like a problem most hotels have figured out. Also, the floors/carpets in the hotels could use a good steaming, something that cosmetically would make a huge impact. And, our room had stains on the comforters and no desk or chair or other furniture to lie items on. It was inconvenient and in such a large room looked odd. It wasn't promised, but you should be aware of this. Overall, if everything else is booked, you will not hate this hotel. Given other options, we would stay someplace else next time.

« Good Value, Clean, Convenient »

This hotel has a lot going for it, from the free breakfast to the indoor pool (great when it's ridiculously hot outside like it was when we were there) and a small gym. The rooms and the hotel are clean, but for the most part, this could be any mid-range hotel. I think what sets this property apart is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the location. We had trouble with our bed linens... okay, we spilled a large cup of tea on one of the beds... and we had fresh and clean replacements within five minutes from a very helpful and courteous member of the front desk staff. The hotel is about fifteen minutes from Busch Gardens and Water Country, and Colonial Williamsburg, with wast access to the highway. There are several restaurants close by too, so that's great. I also had three great nights' sleep in our room. The mattress was firm, and the pillows were very close to "just right." The shades darkened the room nicely, and it was quiet. I do a lot of research on Trip Advisor before I book anywhere, and this place looked on par or slightly above most of the mid-range places in this resort town. Put that with Best Western's great reputation, and you have a great place to stay. I will say this, though... I've stayed in BW Premier and other BW Plus hotels. This one just makes it into the Plus category in my opinion. Needs a few tweaks here and there. But remember... Good Value, Clean, Convenient.

« One of the WORST hotel experiences ever »

We were here as a couple for five nights. Reservation requests were ignored even though we booked weeks in advance and had paper work to prove it. It took seeing three rooms before they gave us what we asked for. The breakfast layout and service was inadequate for the number of guests in the hotel. We are Best Western Gold Card members, and have never seen such a dirty, run down Best Western as this one. Other newer and less expensive hotels are in the area. The weekend rate here was $175. You would do do better in this particular location to shop around and avoid this hotel.

« Not bad for the price »

My family and I planned a vacation to Williamsburg VA. We were on a budget and this hotel and the package for Busch Gardens and Water Country USA fit our pockets. It is not a bad hotel. I did not see bed bugs, however something in the room bit me ion several spots on my neck area. It may have been a mosquito. The hotel staff is very helpful. The fitness room needs some TLC. There was a broken stationary bike and missing weights. The indoor heated pool area was undesirable because it was so hot outside. There was a Jacuzzi directly behind the pool, however it was just too crowded and I never attempted to use. The lobby is very nice, however it is also where the food is served for the continental breakfast and it is just too small for the amount of people staying here. I literally felt like I was on line at a school cafeteria. Overall, if you are on a budget then this is a decent hotel.

    « good choice »

book 2 rooms at Best Western for us and family friends from Florida and was really good choice , excellent location , clean ,very friendly and many amenities which make our stay very enjoyable .On negative side , breakfasts wasn't so good , place is crowded and hard to find a table .Not to mention that most of the very few good items are exhausted quick and not replaced .Also don't count much in internet quality .However non of the "negatives ' affect us much .

    3
    « Way too crowded! »

When we checked in, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the lobby was very nice. Our room was well cleaned and perfect for somewhere just to sleep at night after being out during the days. The bathroom was a bit small, so just make sure no one walks in while you are on the toilet or you will get hit by the door. My family went to the indoor pool two nights and a group of unsupervised teenagers were splashing wildly so it was hard for my daughter and I to enjoy the pool, which was on the cold side. The jacuzzi was very nice! My biggest disappointment was the breakfast area! There was a line for breakfast and then we had to wait for a seat, so your food was cold by the time you were able to sit down. They said there was seating outside, but it was so hot out there that it would not have been enjoyable. The second morning, we went to breakfast earlier and it was even more crowded than the day before, so we went somewhere else. The next two days, we endured the line and got a seat before we ate. There were simply too many people for the size breakfast area they had and it was poorly set up! The breakfast was very good with hot and cold choices, but not a very relaxing atmosphere for vacation. I would stay there again in the off season, but definitely not peak season!

« Great Location and Staff »

This hotel is close to everything and the hotel staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. Definitely would recommend this hotel if visiting Williamsburg. Breakfast items and choices were good and the rooms were clean and nice. Seems to be recently renovated with modern décor and the king size bed provided excellent sleep. The front desk was excellent and even greeted you on exit and entry each day of our stay. Very pleased with this hotel and close proximity to attractions, restaurants, and shopping.

    « glad only stayed 1 night »

The reservation was under wrong address for 2 rooms and given 1 wrong room with someone else's welcome kit on the table, solicited at entrance for time share, no fan in bath which meant there was mold on ceiling, free breakfast was ok to poor with canned fruit, stale pastry, eggs, sausage toast etc. The check in personnel were on the verge of rude. Very short and curt while explaining their mistake and not apologetic at all.

    « Awesome Experience!! »

My church youth group visited this particular hotel on June 30th -July 3rd 2016. From the time we arrived the staff was very professional & helpful. We were very impressed by the look of the hotel lobby. The dinning area was beautiful. Once our rooms were ready, we were very pleased with those also. We had trouble with the AC in one of our rooms but the staff quickly took care of us & got us setup in another room. I was very please at how quickly they handled the situation & how professional they were. I would recommend this hotel in the Williamsburg area to anyone. When in this area again BW Plus Historic Area inn is where I will be staying. Thanks Kandi Shaw, Vanessa, Asheika, Maris, Terry, Pri & Marletha for a great experience at BW Plus Historic Area inn!!

    « Great Location!! »

The proximity of this hotel to the colonial restoration, Jamestown, Yorktown and Busch Gardens is GREAT! The hotel itself was also excellent and we were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed for 3 nights and were very comfortable. The room was clean and the service was prompt. My only comment less than great is that the bathrooms are on the small side, but we did not find that a problem. On check-in, we were greeted by Maris, and then Kadian, who were both super pleasant, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the area and directed us to several restaurants with which we were also very pleased. Thank you to both of them. The breakfast area was very clean and more than adequate with both hot and cold foods available. Unlike other reviewers, we always were able to get a table without any waiting and found other guests very courteous. Also, there was coffee and tea available 24/7. We did not use the pool but it looked well maintained, although it was very hot in that room. All in all, I would not hesitate to highly recommend this hotel, and I would definitely stay here again.

    « Very nice property »

Stayed for one evening while in the area. Felt this was a very nice Best Western property. Room was clean. Beds were good. Plenty of towels. Free WiFi that worked well. We did not use the pool or another amenities. Oddly the breakfast was in the basement of the hotel, but appreciated how many choices there were. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay again if in the area.

    « Was suprised! »

I was pleasantly suprised that the room and hotel room was nicer and cleaner than I expected based on some of the reviews that I had read. There were friendly staff at the desk at night (Akira and/or Katie?) and in the morning to help with local questions and just basically to say hello and good morning. We asked for extra pillow and received them right away, no questions asked. Basically, I would stay here again based on a few factors: The rooms were triple sheeted and clean. Most of everything worked at it should and it was able to help guests have a less stressful time away from home. The pool was nice. Breakfast was exactly what I would expect with some cold and hot choices. Laundry facilities on site were a benefit to many as they were being used on and off for the evening by other guests. The staff regularly checked pool towels and made sure that coffee and tea were available even at night. Of course, nothing is perfect. Items which were not the hotel's fault....For example, the parking lot at our arrival was literally ringed with couples and singles smoking outside their cars. Yes. i know outside smoking is not a huge issue normally; except that I am allergic and had I been travelling alone could not have unloaded my car since the smoke outside and around the building was so abundant. The kids even asked why it was so stinky. The hotel does in fact have a smoking area; but I did not see anyone use it while I was there. Since it was off of the pool through a propped open doorway, probably a good thing. Finally, I have to agree that the breakfast area did also have a hard time handling the number of people eating breakfast but mostly due to the fact that several couples and older eaters were there a long, long time. I came down early to get coffee right when it opened and things were pretty normal. Came down again after getting the kids ready an hour later (8am) and we checked out at (10am) several groups of people had been sitting and eating at the breakfast station the whole time. From my understanding they were grandparents waiting for each of the family members. My personal opinion was that it was rude to save seats for literally 3 hours when so many people needed a space to eat. The hotel was putting out food as fast as they could and they would have never been able to keep up. I felt bad because this meal was not made to be an "all you can eat to fill you up to dinner type of meal". Another group was apparently meeting for coffee, for two hours -- wonderful, but could you take it to another place in the hotel? The worse part is that I am not nosy it was just that egregious. Hotel: The carpet of our room was a little bit damp as if someone had accidently thawed the mini fridge/freezer and did not know to check the drain pan. The sheets were clean and the bed looked great but the person who made the bed made it a little on the shorter side so we had to take apart the beautifully made bed to that the covers would reach nearer to our shoulders. The location suited our needs and we will not hesitated to stay here again.

Just had to write a review because our group had a great stay at the best Western historic williamsburg va. It all started with Kandi Shaw who took great care off all our needs and ended with a very friendly staff that made sure we enjoyed ourselves and also helped make our trip easier with there knowledge of the local area. I would suggest that if you are staying with a group or just yourself you give this place a try. I have had a lot of good and bad experiences and they are one of the best. Thanks again best Western historic staff We will be back

    « Breakfast »

The breakfast area could not handle the number of guests staying at the hotel. There wasn't even enough food and drink to accommodate everyone. We went elsewhere for breakfast. We won't be staying at this hotel in the future.

« Extremely pleasant and convenient place to visit. »

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We appreciated that they had laundry facilities and that they were located near many attractions. The room was very clean and had many amenities (refrigerator, free internet (that worked without any interference), and it was a safe area.

« Great location for all Williamsburg attractions »

Very helpful and pleasant front desk workers. Good breakfast variety with adequate table space. Rooms were clean but slightly dated. Microwave and refrigerator in room was very helpful. This hotel is located in very convenient area. Easy to get to Colonial area or Busch Gardens. Restaurants nearby. Decent value for the price.

    5
« very close to all resturants and shops -great walking distance »

The room was very clean and great size. Moderate furnishings but slightly worn. The entry hallway was rather dark-could stand a hall light. Otherwise I loved my room. I have nothing else to say. The staff was very attentive to all of my needs especially after having a very bad experience at a nearby hotel. They saved my vacation. I will recommend this hotel to all of my friends who plan to visit Williamsburg in the near future.

« Front desk admin very rude upon check-in »

PROS - about 15 minutes away from waterpark and busch gardens. Room wasn't that bad. The girl at the front desk was very rude and had a serious attitude upon check in. I didn't want to deal with her the whole time because I didn't want to have to curse her out. The light above the microwave wasn't working properly. It took about 30 minutes for it to come on after turning on the light switch. I called downstairs and was told that someone would fix it but that never happened. The staff breakfast was very friendly BUT the breakfast itself wasn't all that great. The food wasn't cooked well enough.

    5
    « Great Stay »

The staff was amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed the indoor pool and complimentary breakfast. We received everything we needed and more. The rooms were clean and fresh overall a great stay.

    « Overall Good Stay »

This is my first choice of hotels when in the Williamsburg area. This is our 5th or 6th stay at this location. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They make you feel like family. The breakfast area has been remodeled since our last stay, and it does not seem to flow as well to me. Some equipment was not working when we visited (Coffee machine). Overall, still a good stay.

    5
« Our go-to hotel for Williamsburg vacations »

The staff at this hotel is top-notch. From the manager, to the front desk to housekeeping, they all go above and beyond. This was at least our third stay here and we will continue to stay here in the future. It is a convenient location but the staff make this hotel over the top great!

    « Our Williamsburg Visit »

Best Western Plus was a pleasant surprise. The Staff was very attentive and made us feel at home from the first minute. Room was very comfortable and quiet even with families all around. We have usually stayed at either Hilton Garden Inn or Springhill by Marriott but we will now stay at Best Western Plus

    « Clean, Comfortable & Affordable »

The rooms were clean, desk service was great and friendly. Housekeeping did a great job. Breakfast does not include pancakes or waffles. Though there is sausage early in the morning and bacon later. Sometimes they run out of things but bring out others to replace them. One morning they ran out of yogurt completely and the fruit is canned (I think). Breakfast seems somewhat chaotic no matter what time you go, but everyone seems to flow and work well together. The breakfast attendants works very hard and keep up with everything pretty well. It was a bit noisy in the halls but we bring a fan so we don't hear all the hall chatter. Unfortunately even the best hotels have this problem. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

    « Celebrated Hubs Birthday »

Wanted to do something different for my husband's birthday and he does enjoy Williamsburg as much as I do. So I saw the reviews of the Best Western Plus Historic Area and made the reservations. When we arrived on 6/18/16, we were warmly greeted by the staff who told us about the hotel and the surrounding area. We have been to Williamsburg many times but this was the first time anyone took the time to give us a run down of the area and what was new since our last visit. Had a small problem with the room and was immediately given another room even though the hotel was booked to the max for that day. Our stay was so enjoyable that we extended it another day, again the staff was very accommodating. The rooms are well appointed and the bed (king) was very comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel as it is close to everything the historic area has to offer. An extra smile to Asheika at the front desk who is the sweetest and most accommodating human I have ever encountered. She is truly a bit of sunshine.

    « **Pleasent Stay** »

This was our 4 night family vacation to Williamsburg. The hospitality here was great. We didn't ask for much and we weren't complainers. When I had to deal with housekeeping for a few items it was with Miss Mary who is super pleasant. Also Ciarra the girl in the kitchen is great. She goes above and beyond to make sure you have what you need for your breakfast. And I'll tell you it's very hectic and people are very demanding. **MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR TONGS FOR YOUR FOOD.......lol!!** last but not least the front desk staff is very pleasant as well especially Asheka and Miss Vanessa. Overall experience was great. Miss Vanessa even stepped in to help the gentleman in the kitchen when Ciarra was off. She did the best she could with both front desk and kitchen. Only complaint would be rooms need updating for being a Best Western Plus and our tub drain was clogged so it drained super slow. But it didn't effect out warm stay at all. A+++++++!

    « Great Service recovery! »

We booked this hotel online at a bargain rate for our trip to Williamsburg. We chose a room with 2 double beds for us and our 2 granddaughters. The first room had key cards that wouldn't work consistently, so we needed to have someone in the room to open the door for others. Finally, we reported the situation to Vanessa at the front desk and she upgraded us to a room with 2 queen beds at our same bargain rate. We loved the breakfasts, the pool and the location. We also asked the front desk for recommendations for a restaurant and were given a list, with one circled as the best, and it was! We would come back if we were going to Colonial Williamsburg again.

« Will definitely being staying again soon »

This hotel was located within minutes to tons of restaurants and attractions. The room was very nice and clean so was the pool and breakfast area. It also host a huge menu for room service we didn't actually partake in the room service but the menu was nice. The front desk ladies all of them were very nice and helpful my family stay was great! Thank you

« Price was good, most likely will not return to this location. »

the beds were very uncomfortable. We selected a room with a jet tub, which did not work like it should have. Breakfast was good, however the forks, knives and spoons should be wrapped individually. Also when bringing out fresh food to restock the food that has been out awhile the old food needs to either be taken away or put on top of the new food, so someone is not getting eggs that have been setting forever. My wife worked in the food service industry for 7 years and was picking out all the flaws. I wish the pool had different hours for kids. I think its great the pool is open till 11 however, the kids should not be able to swim past 9. When we were there , we wanted to swim and enjoy the hot tub. However there were kids in the pool area that were jumping, screaming and going from pool to hot tub. Parents were not watching the kids closely, the kids were kicking beach balls and running by the pool.

    « Average lodging »

This motel/hotel, not sure which to call it, is fine for a vacation room in which to sleep. It was clean and offered a free breakfast. The room was average, nothing special. The TV remote didn't want to work otherwise the room was fine. The couple travelling with us had a dead electrical outlet so two of their lamps didn't work

« More than adequate hotel for the money »

Rooms are okay size. According to my wife, bathroom is too small. Some disrepair. Breakfast very good w/many choices. Pool nice enough. Decent location. Close to K-Mart, DQ, Mini Golf. Many good restaurants within two miles.

« Hotel needs better accommodation for Seniors/Handicap and Better supervision of Children »

    1. The room needs to be updated. 2. Commode was too low for Handicap/Seniors (Wheel chair height Needed) 3. Needed better supervision of children by the Chaperones (who were not with them at breakfast) Wife who is handicapped almost knocked down by the unsupervised children. 4. Management needed to reinforce upon check in with groups of children about needing to supervise their children. Could have been a law suit in the making if any Senior Citizen or Handicapped person were injured due to this unsupervised activity. And, 5. The key cards didn't work all of the time and had to walk around building to get in.

    4
    « Good, Close, Reasonable »

You are 5 minutes away from the Visitor's Center at Colonial Williamsburg. The rooms are very good, the breakfast scene is very busy in the summer with LOTS of people trying to eat. The rates are better than most properties around making for a good place to crash in between visiting all the surrounding historical sites, including Jamestowne and Yorktown.

    « Dirty!! Gross!!! »

The reception ladies were very friendly. It is an older building and needs a little updating but for the price I expected that. However, what I do not expect is a very dirty fridge (see pictures), hair in the sink and surrounding area, someone's USED bar soap in the dresser in a plastic bag, and in the other room, someone did not clean the toilet very well so their was someone else's feces along the rim. So, numerous health code violations from just that. Manager would not come out to speak with us, even though on premises, but instead had receptionist give us a a business card. This was after 8 am at 9 am when managers are there( she also went to the office door to get him/her). To me if you are a manager and refuse to address issues in person with guest checking out, then you should not be a manager. Very unprofessional. I don't get the good reviews. Are standards really this low and expected and people just do not care? Mind blowing. Therefore, I am doing a review to warn others that you get what you pay for plus hair, old food, poop, and used bar soap. Oh and dusty common areas (see picture) Must have been their version of "amenities". Go somewhere else!

« Stayed here for a week visiting the Historical Area »

Very nice hotel. Quiet. Clean. Very nice staff. Ideal location. Breakfast is the standard Best Western breakfast, so you might want to skip it and eat at the Cracker Barrel across the street or at one of the many nearby pancake houses. Great stay otherwise.

« Comfortable, friendly and swimming pool »

We had a couple of nights in this hotel. The lobby is superbly decorated and very modern, where breakfast is served also. On arrival we felt a touch of luxury, our room 2 queens bed was spacious but decorated in a old fashion which is a contrast from the lobby. Nevertheless the room was comfortable. It was enjoyable to have the use of the swimming pool, we were lucky enough to find empty both days. The breakfast was average, nothing special. We spent the day at the Colonial Williamsburg which is only a few minutes drive down the road, it's like stepping into the past. Highly recommended

The hotel was very good for the price. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The lobby was beautiful and pleasant. Nice variety of breakfast items. The beds were very comfortable. The room was ok. the pull out sofa beds needed some work. The bathroom ameneties could be changed to something better.

« nice hotel, friendly staff, great value »

The hotel was nice. The staff was helpful, from the person at check in to the housekeeper to the breakfast attendant. . Breakfast was good. (eggs, bacon, sausage and a host of other items). Room was clean and had a small fridge with a coffee pot.

« Welcoming Staff and Great Location »

We arrived late and the staff greeted us with a smile. The room we stayed in appeared to be newly renovated. Although it was a handicap room (hopefully there were others should someone really need it), the bathroom was very large with a shower chair that could be put into the standard bathtub. The choices for complimentary breakfast was great - fruit (cocktail and fresh), yogurt, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon (could have been cooked more), french toast sticks, toaster waffles, bagels, and more. The checkout was quick and they even offer a "Grab n Go" bag for those who have to check out before breakfast. Very nice. The location was great, off the busy highway but close enough to Jamestown attractions, Colonial Williamsburg, and downtown.

    « Good Hotel »

A very good hotel location. Great value for the money. Good service and pleasant staff. Also, the rooms are very quiet. Very close to all the attractions in Williamsburg. Staff were very helpful and courteous.

« Good location and friendly staff »

The best things about this place were the friendliness of the staff and the location of the property. The room had seen better days and overlooked the parking lot. However, you could walk over to restaurants and some shopping (especially for essentials). It was also close to the historic Williamsburg area if you had your own transportation. I liked having the microwave and refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was quite decent.

The hotel was very appealing. The lobby was very inviting. the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only problem I found was we chose the room with a jaccuzi tub. tThe tub was a nightmare. Maybe if house cleaning focused on cleaning these tubs better, it could be a great hotel to visit.

The lobby / breakfast area is bright and clean, the rooms are what you would expect! A nice indoor pool with a jacuzzi - and a nice bright laundry room area. The location is very centrally convenient for access to Yorktown and Jamestown as well as restaurants and shopping. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

« One fly in the ointment »

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Close to Colonial Williamsburg. Fantastic large indoor pool and whirlpool. Breakfast was mediocre and never ready to go at 7. Housekeeping and front desk staff very friendly and accomodating. The fly in the ointment was the male employee who worked the breakfast area. Our first morning the serving utensils weren't all out so when I didn't see tongs for bread I just picked up the bread for my toast with my hand...only touching the slices I picked up. This employee said to me, in front of other guests, "You can't use the tongs or at least a napkin?" I felt embarrassed at his uncalled for and sarcastic remark. He obviously doesn't know the meaning of tact or that admonishing guests is not in his job description. Judging by comments to other guests he doesn't know the meaning of please and everything he says sounds like an order. To make matters worse this morning he came up again and again in front of several other guests said "Use the napkin to pick up the food today." I am still in shock with the manner he spoke to me.

This was a good place to stay as we were only staying one night to see Colonial Williamsburg. Hotel is clean and quite staff very friendly gave us directions to a few places we wanted to see. The only draw back is that the air conditioner was a little loud but it was ok. Like the fact that they have in room coffee too. Very close to colonial Williamsburg too!! And lastly you really can't beat the rates.

    « Fabulous! »

I can't say enough about this hotel! First of all, the location is so central to everything and also nearby restaurants almost within walking distance but certainly not far to drive to anything. Historic Williamsburg is only a mile away! Rooms are clean, quiet and well maintained for an older hotel. Plenty of parking, free coffee all the time. Breakfast is good with a large variety to choose from and very carefully maintained. Breakfast room is big enough to accommodate the morning rush! There are many places to choose to stay in Williamsburg. We're glad we choose Best Western Plus!

    « Pleasant Stay »

We made very last minute reservations for a great price. Front desk staff was extremely friendly and informative upon check in. The room we were given did not have working AC, and with 2 infants we needed it - staff set us up with a new room immediately with no issue at all. Comfortable room, took advantage of the pool and great breakfast. We all had a lovely stay and would definitely use again and recommend!

« Great place to stay »

We enjoyed our stay here over Mother's Day weekend. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and so was the other areas of the hotel. Breakfast each morning was good. The location is very convenient for all areas of Williamsburg. We will remember this hotel for future visits.

    « Pleasant Visit »

I found the hotel to be a pleasant experience. Lovely décor. Friendly staff. No problems experienced. Out of the way of the hustle and bustle of Williamsburg, VA yet close to many venues. Close to many restaurants and shops.

    « Convenient location »

My wife and I visited Historic Williamsburg and chose to stay at the Best Western. It is in a convenient location, easy to find, and not far from the Williamsburg Visitor Centre. This is an older property, we were comfortable here and it was kept clean. Service was excellent; this is the first hotel that has ever called our room after we checked in to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Breakfast could be improved by adding fresh fruit; also the scrambled eggs were watery.

« Solid stay for this class of hotel »

My family stay here two nights. I was very satisfied with the hotel given its class. Mind you, this is not the Waldorf Astoria. So wipe that out of your expectations. For a 2.5 to 3-star hotel, this Best Western does its job very well. While some parts of the hotel look a little tattered. But in general, they were in good shape. No complaints from me for these areas that need a little TLC because I didn't pay for that level of extravagance. Also, the free breakfast was solid. Nothing special, but very good given the hotel price. The swimming pool was also really good size and good quality. We used it very night. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

    « Get-A-Way »

The location of this hotel was amazing for any activity we were interested in. Shopping, restaurants, and site seeing were very convenient. The hotel even provided a travel info booklet and a sheet of specific directions to areas/sites when pulling out of their parking lot!! This was a spur of the moment trip for us but I can't imagine planning a better place to stay, even in advance!

« Perfect for Families, Close to everything »

We stayed 3 nights recently with a 1 year old and this hotel was perfect for our visit to Williamsburg. A crib was already in the room when we checked in per our request and staff called the room shortly after check in to make sure we had everything we needed. The staff was so nice, everyone made a big deal over our little boy- and he loves attention and mommy and daddy love feeling welcome in a place with a toddler. Breakfast was better than typical continental with several hot options daily. Due to several large school groups staying while we were there you had to time it right, but the staff worked hard to maintain the breakfast area and keep food fresh. Our room was clean and comfortable king with a sofa and coffee table and desk and plenty of room for the portacrib. They also had a very nice indoor pool area with a large pool and plenty of seating. The hotel is convenient to Colonial Williamsburg (less than 5 min drive) as well as Busch Gardens and plenty of dining options. Overall a comfortable stay and a great value.

    « Luxury Near Wmsbg. »

A nice, quality hotel. Nice staff, comfortable lobby and adequate breakfast. Coffee from a Kurig, tastes like instant. Two beds in room, one not so comfortable. Needed replacing. Back room as requested overlooked the roof. Quiet and five minutes from Colonial Wmsbg.

    « Place needs a bath »

Breakfast is horrible. Brunt or uncooked food. Dirty counters and floors in lobby and eating area, Not vacuumed once during our stay. Door locks don't release and staff tells to try over again and again and very slow and then, sometimes they worked.

    « Everything I need at a great price »

Every time I come to Williamsburg, I stay here. It's located close to the Historic Area and William & Mary. I know I'll always have a clean room, great service, internet, free breakfast and a low price. They are now entirely smoke-free too. There is no other choice for me when it comes to accommodations. It's always Best Western Historic Area.

    « Family Trip »

First time to the area so read many reviews trying to ensure a good family experience. Decided to book the hotel with the least amount of poor reviews and crossed my fingers. We were greeted by two very friendly desk staff. They helped us plan our excursions and recommended good eats. Clean room with frig and microwave. Ten minutes after getting in our room the phone rang. The front desk checking in to see if we were satisfied or needed more of anything. Good breakfast choices to start our busy day. Very nice pool. Definitely would book again.

« Good value, great location, friendly and professional staff »

This Best Western Plus was a good value, great location- close to both Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Their staff was friendly and professional and went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. Rooms were very clean, and comfortable, and pretty quiet. There were a lot of families there during our stay and we never heard anyone.

Nice hotel, clean, spacious room. Refrigerator and microwave. Lobby and breakfast area very nicely done. Coffee 24 hours. Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurants walking distance. Williamsburg Colonial Village about 1.5 miles away.

    « Best Pool »

I enjoyed the pool area and exercise area a lot. It's an indoor pool, very warm and clean, and large enough for lap swimming if you're interested. The room was clean and up to date. Microwave and refrigerator a plus.

« Not crazy about this hotel. »

The furniture in the room was small and a bit beat up, the drawers sagged on the slides. Night table too small for books, etc, for 2 beds. Limited selection in dining room; same eggs and sausage all 3 mornings, few bread selections. Coffee not as good as other BW hotels we stayed at during this road trip. Chairs in the dining room not comfortable. Staff very nice and helpful.

    « Pleased »

Very pleased with the package deal we purchased for Williamsburg. It was a pleasant stay and I would go again. The kids had a blast in the pool and the hotel is close to everything we were interested in.

    « Good Hotel »

This is a nice hotel close to all the attractions at Williamsburg. The hotel is clean and well appointed. Free Best Western breakfast, it is somewhat bland but I guess better than nothing. Staff were polite and helpful with directions. I would stay there again.

    3
« Clean Room, Unsatisfying Breakfast »

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was awesome. The complimentary breakfast was unsatisfactory. Mediocre temperature, slow to replenish and several items not tasty at all.... A benefit we look forward to at most hotels. We checked out hungry and had to get food elsewhere. Disappointing.

    3
    « Just OK »

I'd say the best thing about the hotel is the location and price. It's close to everything you'd need in Williamsburg - Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, go-karts, and mini golf. The rooms were lacking though. They weren't that bad, but the beds were incredibly uncomfortable (like an air mattress) and the bathroom was really small. The sheets didn't seem as clean as they could be and the room always felt a little humid. The continental breakfast was ok, just not enough space to eat if the hotel gets crowded. One morning we had to stand and wait for a table. The pool wasn't bad, the kids enjoyed it. It wasn't a bad stay, but I don't think I'd choose this hotel again.

    « Everything we needed »

We spent 4 nights at the Best Western Plus Historic Inn. It was only a few minutes drive from Colonial Williamsburg and 15 minute drive to Busch Gardens. The room was standard and had a microwave and fridge which was nice. The breakfast was included and had hot and cold items.. Your standard breakfast. It was Spring Break so it was crowded but we were able to get a seat every morning. The main reason we chose the hotel was the indoor heated pool and hot tub were open until 11 pm and it was so nice to swim and relax after a long day of walking. The pool was warm and relaxing. The pool had a lot of kids since it was Spring Break which was good for us as our 11 year old had a great time meeting kids from all over. We had an issue with our TV which they immediately addressed. The front desk were very nice and helpful. The smokehouse restaurant next door was good and had gluten free options. There is a Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral across the street. We had a great time and will definitely return.

    « Trip »

Staff was great. Location to Colonial Williamsburg was really good (about 2 miles). The only down falls for this BW is the breakfast, noise, and the bed. I can only eat so much cereal, so my wife and I decided to go to Cracker Barrel. The bed was either very old or already wore out. The metal if you were sitting on the side of the bed would dig into your legs. With a bad back the bed is very important to me so that is why we cut our vacation one day short. I do not recommend the first floor to stay on because the noise from people checking in and the ones going to their room was very loud, I was finally able to go to sleep around 1 in the morning. Would I stay there again? Maybe, I would have to check out the bed first and make sure I was not on the first floor.

    « Well located hotel »

This hotel was centrally located in Williamsburg. Our granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed the indoor pool. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast staff tried to keep up with the spring break overflow in a pleasant manner. The only complaint was a lack of ventilation in the room's bathroom.

    « What You'd Expect from a 2 Circle Rating »

Nothing terribly wrong with the place. Room was clean, though in need of a bit of updating. For us, the nights were quiet, so sleep was good. Personnel were okay. Again, nothing really negative, but I felt like they went about their business like it was their job and they were waiting for the clock to tick so they could finish their shift. Didn't feel like anyone went out of their way to make us feel particularly welcome. Breakfast (included) was basic, served on cheap paper plates. On our second morning, they were hard pressed to keep up with demand, running out of items well before the end of the breakfast time. Cleanliness around the breakfast area, especially on that second day was also a bit behind schedule. The price we got was very reasonable, so I don't have any major complaint. Just don't expect too much out of this place and you'll be fine. Golden Corral and Cracker Barrel (are those two places always right near each other?) are within a minute of the hotel. Kmart right across street. Many other eating options within 5 minutes.

« Great stay and location »

The front desk reception Vanessa was amazing. So very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a great location and very clean. I love that the pool indoor which is great for cold weather. The breakfast was also good even though it got crowded quickly but the attendant did a good job keeping up with the items missing.

« Good value and location »

We stayed here for several nights during a Spring Break visit to Williamsburg. The front desk staff was really friendly and the place was reasonably clean although definitely an older property. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very crowded - the standard fare that fills you up but nothing special. Lots of families and the pool was very popular. The location is good - very close to Colonial Williamsburg and other attractions/restaurants. We would stay here again as a solid but unexciting choice.

« Always Coming to Best Western When In Williamsburg ... »

My business travel brings me to Williamsburg very often. Two trips ago, I stayed at another chain because their rates were lower. Sadly, it wasn't worth the savings. The other hotel's staff didn't compare to Best Western. With the exception of one person, they really didn't seem to care about their guests at all. Best Western has a friendly, helpful staff that make it their business to make guests feel like they matter. No more experimenting with other hotel chains. When in Williamsburg, Best Western will always get my business.

    « Tidewater tastefulness »

Last week, on the occasion of a visit to Williamsburg, I decided to return to this hotel after having had a satisfying experience there three years ago. Once again, I was not disappointed. It's amazingly convenient: located on the area's primary commercial highway, about 5 minutes from the Colonial Williamsburg Visitors Center and a couple more minutes from the historic area itself. (Treat yourself to an authentic colonial dinner by parking in the free public lot behind the commercial shops on Duke of Gloucester Street and walking to any of the historic area restaurants.) My room was spacious and comfortable for a surprisingly affordable price. It was a short walk to the lobby, the elevators, the multiple guest laundry areas, the vending and electronic games area and the lovely indoor pool. The lobby and breakfast area are bright and pleasant. The piney grounds are well-kept. And the staff are eager to be helpful. It should be noted that this is in a landscape fraught with all sorts of choices for overnight accommodations. Yet this hotel is NOT a get-'em-in/get-'em-out kind of operation. It's a non-pressured, tranquil place that makes an already interesting and delightful visit to Colonial Williamsburg that much more rewarding...in contrast, it should be noted, with another Best Western we'd stayed in the evening before, and for which we paid considerably more for a far less satisfying experience.

    « DISAPPOINTED »

Breakfast was a good selection, but all items were low quality, fake eggs, canned fruit, no variety creamers. Lights in room didn't work, keys never worked and constantly had to be replaced. I was looking for a step up from Quality Inn where we usually stay, but it was not. Room was small. Staff was nice.

« Stayed here for Jefferson Cup Soccer Tournament »

We stayed here for Jeff Cup. Overall very happy with our stay. Price is right and the location is great to the Warhill Complex (less than 10 mins away). Very large pool area. Plenty of parking. Location has tons of restaurants around it. Free breakfast, but have to be honest, I've had better complimentary breakfasts. Friendly staff and our room was clean. Would stay here again for a soccer trip. Free wifi.

« Delightful Stay and A Cookie When You Check In »

We stayed one night, just to get away! Trip Advisor had very good reviews and caught a deal for the night. It went up $35.00 the next day! Not right on main road so was quieter, staff outstanding, room clean and bed comfy. Wifi very fast. Continental breakfast also included sausage, eggs and French toast sticks. Clean buffet. Very tasty.. We saw that the breakfast area when we got in looked small, but at breakfast time there were a few tables empty and no one had to wait. And those chairs, nice and soft. If you find negatives about this place you are looking mighty hard! Thanks Trip Advisor and Best Western!

We recently stayed at the Best Western for a bowling tournament. I would rate this as one of the top 10 hotels we have stayed at. Very nice, large rooms with comfortable beds. « Great staff »

I am so late coming here to post a review of this truly nice hotel. We stayed Thanksgiving week, and got a great room at a terrific price. The staff was friendly, accomodating, and always at the desk where they should be. Good breakfast. Though renovations were being done while we were there, the workers did their best to be unobtrusive. The indoor pool was far warmer than that of any other hotel we've stayed in in a long time. And, at last, a hotel with a decent wifi. Not a bit of trouble with it as we've had at other places where they wanted the guests to upgrade to better wifi. Can't remember the manager's name, and I do want to mention her for exceptional attention to not only us, but other guests. She was the little pregnant one. Thank you!

« When Best Is Not the Best... »

Williamsburg, VA is a wonderful place to visit and check out Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. For most people such as myself who visits Williamsburg, a good hotel is often necessary to take advantage of what Williamsburg has to offer. I decided to take my family to Williamsburg for New Year's. This trip was a gift to my two daughters for Christmas. Because I have tons of points for Best Western, I decided to use the points to stay at this Best Western. This is my experience while staying at this hotel. Location The best part about staying at this hotel is the location. It is not too far from many of the attractions in Williamsburg. If you want to get to Colonial Williamsburg, it will take you under 10 minutes, depending on traffic. If you want to visit Bush Gardens, it will take you about 15, also depending on traffic. The hotel sits close to downtown Williamsburg, so you can expect some very good restaurants. If you are looking for your common restaurants, you can find Golden Corral or Cracker Barrel. The area is very safe. Service There are a few things about this Best Western that made it just average. On New Year's Eve, I checked with my family. The receptionist that day was doing her job, but it was clear that she didn't want to be there. She wouldn't smile at all. It was like she was very mad that she had to work on that day. Once I saw her face, I wanted to just get my keys and bolt to bolt to my room. One receptionist that I want to give praise is Maris. She was phenomenal. I realized that I booked the room for two nights instead of three. I told my wife, and we went to talk to her. With a simple smile and a few clicks on her computer, she used some more of my points to add another night. She can also cook very delicious eggs. She was the bright spot that made this hotel a pleasant stay. As for breakfast, it is nothing special. You get your typical Best Western food such as eggs, cereal, and juice. The breakfast area has plenty of seats, but I wasn't a fan of how close the tables were to each other. It seemed like I was going to bump into other people when moving around. My wife noticed that the person who was serving breakfast didn't care about refilling certain breakfast items. When people were asking for a refill of the cereal, he didn't fulfil their requests. Room The room was neat and clean when we entered. You will get hygiene items and towels. The bed is very comfortable, even though it was a queen. Also, there's a flat screen TV, which doesn't provide any digital networks. I find this a bit annoying, but I'm nitpicking at this point. The room had an amazing view of Busch Gardens. When the clock hit midnight for New Year's Day, my wife and I got to see fireworks from Busch Gardens. Extras There's an indoor pool I didn't get to use the it, but my wife did. She enjoyed it and relaxed her very much. There's a workout room, but I would consider it below average. I say this because it just had three cardio machines and no weights. As for parking, there's plenty of parking. As for WI-FI, it's decently fast, but a lot of people can quickly bog it down. Overall, could you do better? Yes, you can. Is it the best of the Best Westerns? No, it's not. Is this suitable to check out Williamsburg? Yes, it is.

    3
« Never pay full price for this place »

I purchased this stay through Groupon, so it was reasonable. If I had to pay in season prices for this place, I would be very angry. The beds were very comfortable, but the tile work and cabinetry was well used. The shower curtain had a burn hole in it and was hidden by twisting the curtain and putting it through the soap dish. Breakfast was so bad, I had to throw out the english muffin before toasting it. The fresh fruit was old and looked it. The front desk staff was so professional and helpful, I expected a nicer stay. The indoor pool was being renovated so I can't say too much about the shabby look. The front lobby and dining area was very nice.

« Great mid priced hotel and a great location for Williamsburg »

This is a great mid priced hotel. We were in the area for the Bush Gardens Christmas lights and it was only a short drive from here. The rooms were large enough to hold a pull out sofa bed and a king bed.The carpets, bathrooms, and furniture were in good shape. They did skimp on the towels, as those were a bit thin and rough. The indoor pool was very large and had a large hot whirlpool bath. I was thrilled to find that the pool was actually heated and felt comfortable. During a rainy spell my grandson and I spent some good time in the pool. The location is in sight of several restaurants, including a Golden Corral. The traffic is a bit heavy for walking to eat. The room cost us $100/night including all taxes (which are several). My daughter & family stayed in a separate room. The free hot breakfast was the usual Best Western, which I enjoy. The seating was packed.

« IT MAY WORK FOR SOME, BUT NOT FOR ME »

The outside of the building looks great. However, the inside needs renovations. To their credit, they have begun just that. The breakfast area is newly remodeled and nicely done. It has black top tables and white leather looking chairs. There are also two flat screens in the eating/lobby area. The continental breakfast was great the first day. It had a variety of items. On the remaining days we were there, they put out less breakfast items. The bathroom is small but it too appears to be newly remodeled and nicely done. There is a large flat screen television in the room. The business center is also nicely done. However, the carpets in the hallways are very dirty. In the room we were in, a portion of the wall is in a collapsed state. There is no exhaust system in the bathroom. The sheets and pillowcases had dried blood, paint, makeup or nail polish on them. The furniture in the room is worn and old. But the worst in my opinion is as follows: We had a Do Not Disturb displayed. Despite that, a housekeeper knocked at the door. We ignored it at first but she kept knocking. I finally answered as she was about to enter the room. She handed me a gift package courtesy of the hotel. It was bottled water, candy, a granola bar, and cheese crackers. She explained that she was told to knock even if a Do Not Disturb sign was displayed. The gesture was a nice one. I think management could have found a better way to ensure the guests received the gifts without disturbing them. Unless it is an emergency, Do Not Disturb means Do Not Disturb. Secondly, when we arrived, we had to go to the front desk three times because the lock would not work. Another guest on the first floor had the same problem. We finally had to ask her to come up to see if she could operate it as we were unsuccessful in getting it open. When she arrived, she stated the battery was weak and needed to be replaced. I wanted another room as we had to make several trips back to the car to bring our luggage in. She stated it was not a big deal and she would have the maintenance person replace the battery the following day. To her credit it was replaced the following day. She acted as though she did not want to switch our room. She told us just to make sure the card hit the back of the door. We did even though it took up to 3-5 minutes each time before it would open. Third, on our third day, I went to the breakfast area to retrieve a couple of packets of ketchup for my lunch after breakfast was over. The male attendant was sweeping the floor. As I retrieved the packets he stopped sweeping and looked up at me as though I was doing something wrong. It made me very uncomfortable. Lastly, on our last day the housekeeper kept asking my family member and I on four different occasions, from the time we went down for breakfast until we began to take our luggage out, if we were leaving. It became downright irritating. I do not understand what her problem was. I can tell you we were glad to be leaving.

We were seeking a hotel so we didn't have to drive home from Christmastown tired. Our stay at the Best western became a mini vacation. We plan on returning next year!

The staff was outstanding!! The hotel was under renovations that were not noted on the website. The whirlpool tub was flaking when filled. The pictures of the Breakfast Room, King Suite, and Fitness Center looked a lot nicer than what was actually available.

« not bad (off season during renovation) »

We visited 2 rooms 2 nights in December midweek. Although the place is in the middle of a renovation there was minimal disruption for either couple. The pool was open even though it is off season, unlike most hotels in the area. A bit high on the chlorine but for a hotel pool and the potential for problems it was not out of line. The breakfast was good with meat and eggs included which is odd for the area too. A bus group was occupying most of the seating both mornings but we got by ok. The room seemed clean and had no signs of improper cleaning. all in all for the price and the area it was ok. a lot of hotels in the area are overpriced tourist trap hotels with questionable cleaning and ammenties.... i will keep this one in mind for my next visit.

    « Most Enjoyable!!!! »

Had a great stay here for 4 nights, right from the door, the lobby was getting renovations, but you wouldn't know it,what I mean by that is that there were no disruptions to the lobby at all, the rooms were a little old, but very clean, housekeeping does a bang up job, the pool was a nice touch after a long day in Colonial Williamsburg, plus the closeness to the Williamsburg Info Center was great, also last but not least , was the breakfast, the usual fare, but was always hot, the place was kept stocked and clean by 2 gentleman, who were on top of things, the wifi worked great, plus the coffee and other things , yogurt, hot chocolate, tea was 24 hr which was nice. Also plenty of places to eat right up the street, my favorite Roccos and Cracker Barrell

    « Overnight Williamsburg Trip »

From the outside the hotel looks neglected, but as soon as you step in the doors it is a different story! The lobby is beautiful and the customer service is exceptional! Although you can see the age in the rooms, they are VERY clean! The only negative of this hotel was how thin the walls were. Laying in bed, you could hear the person in the room next to you using the rest room (very awkward). I was very impressed with not only the customer service, but also the cleanliness. It's a great hotel to stay for a night or two.

« Perfect for weekend trip to Williamsburg »

Our family visited Williamsburg and Busch Gardens this past weekend and this hotel was perfect for our needs. Front desk staff was friendly, room was comfortable and breakfast was adequate. Very close to historic area as well as Busch Gardens. Our only complaint would be the quality of the tv - poor sound and picture. We would stay here again.

    « Wonderful stay! »

I am so glad we chose this hotel to stay during our visit to Colonial Williamsburg. We had driven down from Washington DC and were quite tired. It was nice to be able to take a lovely hot shower and able to relax on a really comfortable bed. The staff was polite and helpful. The location was perfect---- very close to Colonial WIlliamsburg as well as William and Mary. There were many places to eat closeby. The best part was that we had an amazing pizza place right across the parking lot which was open late into the wee hours! And so when we felt hungry for a late night snack, we just walked across and ordered delicious pizza that was out of this world! While I appreciated the hot breakfast, I wish the food had not been so fatty. Liked that I could make my own waffles though. I would recommend this place to all anytime!!

    « Williamsburg visit »

Overall, I would say our visit was very good. A bit disappointed with breakfast as the eggs were a bit runny & the sausage links lukewarm. We did have problems with the room keys but that was corrected quickly but the bed comfort was not exactly what I would expect from Best Western.

    « Great stay. »

The hotel staff and the location (close to Colonial Williamsburg and William & Mary) are the best things about this hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the internet worked, and breakfast was just fine. Would stay again.

    « Don't listen to bad reviews »

This was a great hotel. People complained previously about the breakfast and construction. The breakfast was good. If you want great, go out and eat. You could not really notice the repairs in the breakfast room. The room was clean. The pool was also clean. We were so busy, we only used it once! Every person that worked there was very helpful.

When we arrived at front desk, the lady was not pleasant, no smile, just said license and cc . Made no conversation. Im thinking she was a manager because she was dressed different then other girls, and kept walking back to the back office(but not sure) Once we entered the room we immediately noticed the dampness feeling and saw it was very dusty. When we went to put our luggage on the bed we noticed hand prints all over the head board, i called front desk and asked to be moved ,The next room they put us in the a/c would not cool the room. The carpets were stained bad and turned all of our socks black. AND THE INTERNET NEVER WORKED DURING OUR STAY, THAT WAS HORRIBLE because my son was trying to do his online classes and couldnt do it. Other then those issues everything was fine. The breakfast area was clean and the breakfast attendant kept things stocked and he was very friendly. The house keeper (sorry dont remember her name) was very friendly and wished my son a happy birthday. This is a very nice hotel they just need to do some deep cleaning on their rooms and shampoo the carpets and wipe things down a little better in the rooms and tell their front desk ladies to smile. While we were there they were doing some remodeling in the lobby.

    « AVERAGE HOTEL...AVERAGE STAY »

Experience at this hotel had goods and bads and so I rate it average overall. Here's the pros and cons of our stay experience: Pros: 1. Close proximity to what you would like to do in Williamsburg. Colonial area is just a short trip down Richmond Road...outlet malls are a short drive the other direction on the same road...New Town area is a short drive down Monticello. Hotel is right off of Bypass Rd as soon as you turn onto it from Richmond Rd. 2. Wi Fi was great the whole time...a major plus for me. 3. Got a great night's sleep. Bed was very comfortable and there was little to no noise to disturb. Cons: 1. We and a handful of other guests got stuck in the elevator (a first for me). We had to push the emergency button and thankfully the doors finally opened). As we were departing, a guest who was already at the hotel was walking by and said it had happened before leaving me to wonder why there wasn't notification from the front desk to not take the elevator. We used the stairs the rest of the stay. 2. We had a nice HD TV but too bad there were no HD channels to watch. With no cable box, the channels were all analog and so they appear fuzzy on an HD TV. An upgrade is needed. 3. In our bathroom, there were what appeared to be numerous burn marks which appeared to be made by cigarettes on the vanity counter. Looks nasty and the hotel said they had a no smoking rule so either people are violating the rule or the counter needs replaced with something that looks better. So all and all...not bad but not great either.

    « Showing its age »

This property is in an extremely convenient spot for visitors of the Historic Triangle. It is showing its age, though. They are doing some renovation work in the lobby which is a good sign. The breakfast options are very poor. It seems like the owners are really trying to cut corners there, and it shows.

    « Best Western Williamsburg »

We love recommending Best Western motels. As a chain they are dependably an excellent value and have friendly, knowledgeable staff eagar to please. The Williamsburg Best Western is one of our return destinations each year. This year we were able to apply our Rewards points to the room, which made our free stay a bonus. The staff went out of thier way to not only remember, but make note of my birthday with a lovely card, gift bag, and a complementary bottle of wine from the local winery. The motel has always been clean, the rooms are very nice and the complimentary breakfast is extensive. Thanks Best Western, we look forward to staying with you again.

« Not the Best that Best western has to offer »

I would suggest trying one of the other hotels in the area as this Best Western simply doesn't rank as one of the better. Although they had construction going on and had signs posted they simply put us into a room right beside the construction. The hotel was almost empty and it's obvious why.

« Good Place to Stay »

Hotel staff is very good. Rooms are well kept and clean. Amenities are good. The breakfast needs some improvement, not much selection, but what is there is good. This was my second stay at this hotel, and overall it was a good experience and I plan to use it again next year. A good place to stay and reasonably priced.

« Very good location, good price, average hotel »

The hotel had a location that was great. It was close to everything in Williamsburg. There was a Kmart across the street and many restaurants that were very close. The price was reasonable. The hotel rooms needed updating(not just painting the old walls.) The rooms were clean enough but obviously had saw better days. There were a few signs for remodeling in place in the lobby. The rooms had the basic essentials. The staff left us with mixed feeling. Checking in was nice. I needed extra blankets and they were nice to get them. The next morning I took one of my kids to the breakfast in the lobby. The first employee (African American man) did not say good morning. Looked at me constantly in a strange way and was not happy I got coffee before he set up. So I went back up stairs and got my other kids (to give him 20-30 minutes to set up.) When I came back down another older(African American) employee was entering. He was polite to the staff but very rude to me and my kids. Why offer a breakfast if you are mad that guests are eating it? Overall, the stay was nice but was left with a bad taste in my mouth.

« Great staff, comfortable rooms, wonderful service. »

I recently stayed here while visiting Colonial Williamsburg. The location is great and the service was wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were so pleasant and friendly - glad we were staying there. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. I had expressed a concern about the breakfast and the assistant manager wrote immediately to me explaining they are remodeling and the breakfast selection was temporarily limited. I was offered and apology and bonus points! WOW! How often does anyone ever respond to a concern? I will go back here if I'm in the area. Service is everything to me.

« The fun I had in Williamsburg »

I come to Williamsburg at least twice a year I will be staying at Best Western from now on as long as they have rooms available my friends and I.The room was everything you could want and the price was right.

« A definite choice for future stays »

Excellant staff typical of Southern hospitality; make the guest feel warm and welcome; they were true to form. My husband developed a blood clot and could barely walk during the time of checkout. I requested a wheel chair but the hotel had none. but the staff jumped in to help right away. They assisted immediately and without asking they performed flawlessly. What a team!

    « Great stay »

Friends had recommended this hotel from their stay a few years ago. We were so glad we followed suite. The hotel was close or easy drive to everything we wanted to do in the entire Virginia Colonial Triangle and other places.. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great value. Planned on staying 2 nights but ended up 5. We will choose and recommend them again.

    « Great stay! »

We really enjoyed our stay this Best Western. It was in a great location, close to everything. This staff was friendly, the room was immaculate and very comfortable. The breakfast was ok. We never had a chance to use the indoor pool. The parking lot was huge and the grounds were well kept. I would defiantly stay there again.

« Vergy good hotel but in middle of nowhere »

Not in real centre of historical area but not necessarily a negative feature as allowed closer access to the cheaper eateries. Still not a lot one can do in evening. Good breakfast and indoor swimming pool a real bonus and practical size.

    « Nice, reasonable hotel »

We met our son in Williamsburg for a family vacation, and to re-visit Busch Gardens. The hotel offered military rates, and a hot breakfast, so we were very pleased. Our stay was very pleasant and the hotel is convenient to all attractions.

    « No Complaints Here ... »

Our stay at the Best Western PLUS Historic Area Inn in Williamsburg was pleasant. It was convenient to everywhere we needed to go. The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast varied from day to day. Overall, we would return when in the area.

    « Groupon clients beware! »

Check in: Oct. 2, 2015 Best Western Plus Historic Williamsburg, VA - Room 131 Purchased GROUPON on Sept. 28, 2015 @ $97.97 Immediately noticed the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the room. This is advertised as 100% Non-Smoking Best Western Plus. Went to the a/c unit and pulled the filters (see photo) which were grossly dirty. The unit had mold growing on it (see photo). The carpet was stained, dirty and discolored. Apparently it had not been cleaned (as in shampooed) ever! The drapery sheer was torn. There were holes in the wall that were unpatched but painted over (see photo) at the nightstand. The microwave/frig unit cabinet was old, and the particle board cabinet was delaminating. The surface could not be really clean because of the numerous voids in the particle board. There was a weak, single low-watt light bulb over the corner where this was kept but no service area or counter. The headboards showed skin oil spots where heads had rubbed. Metal door jambs on bathroom door were rusted up to 1? above the tile floor. The paint was bubbling around the door jamb. The internet rate for this room when we signed into the ?free? wi-fi was $69. We paid $30 more on Groupon. I don't know if we got the terrible room BECAUSE it was a Groupon of if everyone gets this quality of room. We asked the night manager to come and inspect the room. She came quickly and acknowledged the room and moved us to Room 127 which had similar issues, however, the a/c unit was cleaner and the room smelled better. We still wiped the entire room down with sanitary wipes ? cabinets, countertops, remote control, headboard, light fixtures, etc. The ground floor rooms where we were located are next to the washer & dryer room and arcade. There is no ice machine on the ground floor. I had to go to the main desk for directions to find ice which was located on the upper floors (2, 3, 4) The upper floors appeared to have been better treated and were nicer in general appearance. I telephoned the hotel the day before arrival and asked for a handicapped room to accommodate my 88-year old mother who is disabled and my 68-year old husband, who is also disabled. I was told that the (1) handicapped room was already taken for that night. Is it possible that a large facility ONLY has 1 handicapped ADA compliant room? I felt this BW was so below standard that I contacted Best Western HQ to report this incident. I phoned Groupon to let them know that their clients were NOT getting quality rooms and were being overcharged based on the Wi-Fi rate at check in. I sent photos to BW Complaint Dept. Having been a Best Western Gold Member for 25 years, I have stayed at many different facilities. This experience was the WORST I have encountered and I believe it is because the management reserves specific rooms for Groupon purchase and truck drivers. I am not the type to file formal complaints, but this BW was terrible and the management should be held accountable. If I had been a BW online customer, walked into this place and been offered the room, I would have cancelled and walked out. But, having spent nearly $100 on Groupon and no way of cancelling or getting my money back, I was stuck. This property is in no way a PLUS facility. The common internal carpets were dirty, worn and stained. The breakfast area was dark, dated furnishings, and cramped. The internet photos are clearly from a time-warp period of newly decorated or constructed rooms and in no way are a representation of the rooms offered to me.

    « Clean & Comfortable »

Since we were visiting many of the local attractions in the area, we were looking for a room that was both clean & comfortable and the Best Western Plus was spot on. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The towels were big and soft and our room also had a refrigerator & microwave. The Best Western Plus was only a few minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, 8 miles from Busch Gardens & 18 miles from Yorktown. The complimentary coffee & hot chocolate 24/7 were nice after a long day & chilly night. The complimentary breakfast was good too. Our favorites were the bacon, eggs and yogurt. The tater tots & french toast sticks weren't as good as they tasted like the metal pans they were sitting in, but still no complaints. Remember it's a free breakfast. Our only regret was that our trip was a short one so we weren't able to play the miniature golf course right next door, go to Jamestown & do some shopping. We also did not have time to use the indoor pool or gym. We will be back in the spring to experience more of Williamsburg and to stay at the Best Western Plus again.

The staff is great and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was very good and there were so many people eating it was hard to find a seat. But is was worth it. There was such a buzz of excitement in the people getting ready for the day's activities. We are looking forward for our return with more family members.

« Pleasant Place to stay »

Love the location of this Best Western. It's across from Pirates Cove Putt Putt, which has two wonderful courses, and Dairy Queen as well. Convenient to Colonial Williamsburg, and just a few minutes from Busch Gardens. Nice indoor pool, and a well supplied breakfast bar has always been popular with our family.

« First Night of Vacation »

Because of a family party, we checked in late so we couldn't participate in all of the amenities offered. The hotel was clean, the staff was efficient, the breakfast was standard continental. There were several people eating breakfast on Sunday morning and the staff worked efficiently to keep the breakfast bar well-stocked.

    « Nice staff »

Enjoyable, clean, comfortable stay. Complimentary continental breakfast, free wifi and friendly staff. We (my wife and I and when our kids were still at home) have always stayed at Best Western. We feel sure we will be safe and comfy. Thank you! The king size beds were the best! We had a great nights sleep.

« Short stay in Williamsburg, VA at Best Western »

Our visit to Williamsburg and Jamestown, VA was more comfortable with a stay at the Best Western Plus. The motel is not the most modern, BUT it had everything we needed to help make our nights stay welcoming and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, fresh linens (towels were still warm, in fact!), exercise room, indoor pool and a breakfast available. The facility is centrally located with easy access to Colonial Williamsburg or the shopping outlets and plenty of restaurants located near. AND I shouldn't forget the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies provided - Yum!

« Well Run Best Western »

This wasn't the fanciest Best Western my husband and I stayed in, but it most satisfactorily met our needs for a comfortable night's accomadation in the Williamsburg area. Room was clean and included a microwave and refrigerator which we did not use, but would be helpful if traveling for more than one night. It's name is a bit misleading because it is not within walking distance of the historic area. Breakfast had good variety and was well maintained. They do need to upgrade their bed pillows.
