"Best Western Gold Rush Inn-Whitehorse"
Coastal293301, 29 Février 2024

Heart of Main Street. Rooms and hotel are very clean and tidy through out. Sidewalks are cleared. Restaurant serves good food, front staff and housekeeping are fast and efficient. I am definitely a returning and continued costumer. Highly recommend this hotel.

"Trip for Fun, Shopping and Appointments."
hotshot23dude, 21 Février 2024

Very friendly, respectful and accommodating staff at this hotel. I was upgraded to a suite which worked so well for my sister and myself and our dogs. Extremely quiet and peaceful and lots of room. Very clean as well and was impressed with them actually taking out the garbage etc.

"Goldrush Hotel"
101Sierra3, 17 Février 2024

Old and a bit quirky, but I love it. I try to stay here whenever I'm in Whitehorse. I will have stayed here every week for 4 weeks this February and wouldnt move at all. Great staff all around. The only thing I would change is a real coffee maker, not Nespresso. I dont like that at all.

"Very nice facility"
RMA1960, 31 Janvier 2024

The facility is older but well maintained and feels very homey and quaint. Its is very clean , customer service is amazing , I love that the restaurant is attached and the food is amazing. The shuttle service is on point , the drivers are very kind and courteous , this was my second time there, and I will continue to stay there whenever I'm in the Territory.

"Whitehorse Stay."
Venture39526180417, 16 Janvier 2024

Good location good hotel. Location was very close to the heart of the downtown so things were in walking distance. Room was clean and well maintained. Had an issue with the shower and hotel staff fixed it quickly.

"In need of a renovation and more staffing"
Under_fifty, 09 Décembre 2023

The room walls are paper thin. Terrible where guests are returning at 2.30am from the northern lights adventure or leaving at 4.20am to catch a plane. Our room did not have any ventilation with no air conditioning system and the old central heating not in use. The room smelt stale.

"Whitehorse Yukon Trip"
nsm712023, 27 Novembre 2023

Staff very friendly and attentive. Lunch/dinner at lounge was really good. Clean, quiet and cozy. Enjoyed the shuttle to and from airport. Would definitely recommend. We will be back for another stay but this time with family.

"No Customer Safety or Satisfaction"
mneholloway, 11 Novembre 2023

This BW has serious customer safety issue and they do nothing to alert or protect customers from the rampant vehicle thefts going on right in front of the hotel. They've known about this issue and when it happened to us they would do nothing to support us or make the situation better. The manager just made excuses and provided zero satisfactory remedies.

"Maybe the Best Best Western?"
travelandshop2014, 30 Septembre 2023

We did not have high expectations as we were switched to this hotel at the last minute due to the failure of our tour company to book out hotel. I have not held Best Western's in high esteem, so I was concerned. The main entry is a bit kitschy, but most hotels in the area are like that. This was a very nice Best Western. Clean, modern and just about the most comfortable bed I have ever had at a hotel. The staff was extremely friendly. It is centrally located on Main street and everything in downtown Whitehorse is in walking distance. The restaurant on the main floor had very good burgers for lunch. I enjoyed my stay and was sad to leave.

"Centrally located on Main Street, a nice place to stay"
TinkToo, 28 Septembre 2023

Centrally located on Main Street, this is a great place to stay. My room was perfect for one, but would have been small for two. Walkable to the river, restaurants and some shopping. Clean and comfortable. I was on the second floor and didn't really hear any other guests except for the odd heavy footstep. There is a restaurant/bar attached to the hotel as well if you don't want to go far to eat. No complaints, a nice place to stay in Whitehorse!

"POOR GUEST RELATIONS!"
Departure795476, 10 Septembre 2023

The good news is that we did get a room when most other places were fully booked because of wildfires. The bad news is that the desk clerk tried to charge us about $350 for the night, but backed off to $315 when I commented that seemed VERY high. Then when we got to the room I noticed a sign on the door (like you see in most every hotel) that specifies the maximum rate they can charge for THAT ROOM. That sign said the maximum was $265 per night. When I showed a photo of this to the morning desk clerk he acted VERY surprised to know they even had such signs in the rooms, but he could do nothing about it unless he called his "boss". From hearing only one side of the conversation it sounded like the "boss" was confounded too. Finally, when I persisted, and other guests heard what was going on, they relented and did refund the overcharge. Other than that the room was OK, not more than that.

"Just know construction is going on...."
northernlightstravel, 29 Août 2023

Just know that this hotel is right beside an expansion of construction going on. So it's NOISY! They give you ear plugs and try to help make it better but it's not great. We've stayed here many times and do usually love it. This time, the construction started really early in the morning so it shook us out of bed. Otherwise, the staff are always amazing and really helpful.

"Worst days off ever !"
luke l, 26 Août 2023

We stayed at this hotel on days off from work. It was so noisy in the room above ours that we couldn't fall asleep. When I mentioned this to the front desk they offered me a bottle of water. What kind of service is this ?

"Medical Travel"
Reija1978, 16 Août 2023

Friendly Staff a wonderful room and a amazing sleep. Located downtown a short walk to all your needs. Was in Whitehorse for medical travel I was able to walk to the hospital in 20 min. The only negative comment would be the Yukoners summer rate is crazy $250 a night but so are the other hotels.

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn - Excellent choice!"
Louiszwei B, 11 Août 2023

Excellent choice for our vacations. We recommend it: The breakfast is a bit expensive but worth the money. Every body working there is absolutely willing to ensure that your stay be memorable and super.

"Good option in Whitehorse"
SazS123, 07 Août 2023

Clean room. Enough room for a family of four with two queen beds. Opted for air conditioning which was noisy but well worth it. Free shuttle bus from hotel. Hotel is clean throughout. Corridors are slightly noisy but it is an older building. All staff very polite and helpful. We didn't eat dinner here. Breakfast choices better than some I've come across - not just fried food - choice of bagel and oatmeal and even a smoothie. Still not sure why much lighter and healthier breakfasts are so hard to offer. Fried food, heavy in salt shouldn't be the go to! Hotel well located in centre of town.

"For the price - not worth it."
PranteauFamily, 05 Août 2023

Unless you are on the upper floor as others suggest your room is hit or miss. My son and his family reserved a suite as they have a dog and no air conditioning and it was almost 30°c that day. Totally unacceptable, although they did provide fans the room did not cool down and it was a very unpleasant night for them. Our room was on 3rd floor and it was not that terrible. For the price you pay for a room here they should provide complimentary coffee and breakfast. Parking is not that great if you have to plug the meters. There is off site parking close To the hotel but there was a lot of interesting people hanging around the hotel and park across the street.

"Ideal for business or leisure travel!"
mbres911, 26 Juillet 2023

Excellent downtown location. Very comfortable room with all the amenities. The service was terrific from the GM to the front desk to the housekeeping teams. We had one breakfast and one dinner and the food was very tasty! We stayed on the top floor which seems to have been recently renovated.

"Convenient Location, Friendly Staff"
howe2023, 15 Juillet 2023

The historic hotel is conveniently located for exploring downtown Whitehorse. It is a little tired looking, but under going some renovations. All staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, our “neighbours “ were noisy, and so drunk that they kept trying our room door by mistake.

"Not the best, not the worst BW we have experienced (5/7)"
AnacoTraveler, 05 Juillet 2023

Best Western in all its varieties , is usually reliably clean and operational and this house was no different. It is a BW, not the upscale versions, but even at that it is an average house. It is a large slab sided building in downtown Whitehorse. Keys were available upon arrival and luggage arrived at the room shortly after arrival. The small lobby area leads to elevators, rooms, and to the on site restaurant. The house has conferencing facilities, exercise room, guest laundry and a spa. The room was a large double queen with a small bathroom- one of the key "features" of the room is you can hear every step someone takes in the room above. Further, at this time of year, an effective blackout curtain on the window would have been appreciated. It was well furnished with with a large collection of period art and photos. Lighting was adequate but most outlets were already in use. The room has a microwave and refer which inconveniently sit on the floor- seems a bit of an afterthought. The medium sized flatscreen tv has tons of channels, but no guide to deal with them all and many are not active on the system- frustrating. The room has one of those pointless espresso machine, but no safe, cups are plastic and paper- as usual. A powerful HVAC works almost too well, very good beds, linens and pillows. About average towels and toiletries for BW. Despite having the facilities (but maybe not the staffing?) the house could not provide group breakfasts for our tour- which we took at another motel in town. Breakfast is offered at the restaurant later in the morning, along with lunch and dinner. The food quality and and value at the on- site restaurant was good enough although service, like most of the hotel was erratic- from pleasant and attentive to surly and dragging. The room was serviced daily without being requested- nice. The offerings and rack rate are a fair balance- average rate for an average house.

"Whitehorse Best Western"
jeffreymackie, 25 Juin 2023

I like this hotel always friendly helpful staff. The restaurant is great. I would recommend it to others who arrive in Whitehorse. The location is convenient and the rooms are clean and comfortable, this is my choice in Whitehorse!

"Excellent staff service"
Janice0333, 06 Mai 2023

The hotel underwent recent renovations (4th floor completely renovated), rooms refreshed and staff service excellent! Short walk to everything within city centre. Excellent front desk staff and pleasant check in experience.

"Would not stay here again"
Brandon F, 01 Mai 2023

The staff were amazing people, very helpful and attentive. The location was awesome and just down the street from the best bison burger I've ever eaten. But when I walked up to check in I was stopped by a homeless guy and asked for a lighter andthen for some change 30 min later walking out of the hotel again. I was then worried about the items in my car the entire night. The next morning as I walked out of the hotel to find breakfast another homeless person approached me again asking for more. Loved the hotel and people but would not go back again sadly

"Alaskan traveler"
akdrgracer, 18 Janvier 2023

I have stayed many times at this property. Most of the time is in the summer. The noise above my room was a little excessive. People smoking dope by the hotel entrance was not acceptable .The bathroom tile was cracked up on the floor. I know that there are renovations going on to the rooms.

"Disappointing service "
Sarah K, 16 Janvier 2023

Very disappointed with the service. We stayed here for a night before and after our dog sledding tour. I left my GoPro accessory in the room and upon returning I asked reception (Max) if the cleaners came across it. He was very rude and unhelpful and said the cleaners had gone home and he had no idea. He then made comment that maybe they would have just taken it and not put it in lost property. I wouldn't stay here again upon returning to Yukon.

"Best Western is Beaut!"
Salma56, 19 Novembre 2022

Reception staff welcoming and efficient. Third floor room quiet and spacious. Appreciated close to elevator. Accommodates air crews and Northern Tales staff and custom easily. Fabulous bar and good pub grub. Central location to restaurants, shopping, tourist attractions.

"Clean and confortable hotel."
Ircania_Vasquez, 10 Novembre 2022

A friend recommended this hotel to us and we are not disappointed. This hotel has clean rooms and bathrooms, a confortable bed and good space. A good place to rest after driving about 14 hours from Fairbanks, Alaska.

"Hotel is nice"
trevorjames3, 03 Novembre 2022

Hotel is probably the nicest in Whitehorse and everything was good other then the noisy person above me. They where up all night screaming and stomping around but other then that everything was good. The restaurant down stairs had live music.

"Great Hotel in Whitehorse"
ashanti2020, 24 Octobre 2022

There is a number of accommodation options within Whitehorse, however the Best Western is centrally located within walking distance of restaurants, shops and other amenities. The staff was very helpful with any queries and a tour operator is also on site. The rooms are clean and quite big with all the basic needs, while the bedding and pillows are of good quality (no humps/lumps, proper firm pillows, warm linen etc.) Our room had a bath which was a bit on the small side, but sufficient.

"Very unwelcoming night shift staff"
temsland, 19 Septembre 2022

Night front desk staff very rude and condescending. Asked him a few questions regarding where to park and where ice and water where. Blood was on one of the duvets but because of his attitude we were very uncomfortable to phone or go down to talk to him about. The young lady that checked us in though was fantastic! Very friendly

"Whitehorse Yukon"
rhondawta, 13 Septembre 2022

"Older, clean, great staff"
barbarawI6358DC, 02 Septembre 2022

We arrived in town only to find our previous B&B reservation had been suddenly cancelled. We were in a panic. I walked into Best Western where Randy and William helped us out as they had just had a room cancellation. They were so helpful, reassuring and friendly. The hotel is older but our room was clean with a comfortable bed. Great location in downtown area. The adjacent restaurant had excellent food. All staff we encountered in the hotel and restaurant were friendly and eager to be of service. What started as a dreadful experience in town turned into the exact opposite. As Randy said, "Welcome to Whitehorse!" We will be there in September on our trip home and have made reservations to stop again.

"Comfortable bed."
568wandaf, 02 Août 2022

The bed and duvet were exceptionally comfortable. The air conditioning (not common in the Yukon) kept the room temperature perfect. The room was quiet and the blackout blinds ensured I had a perfect sleep.

"Hair!!!!"
tachas2022, 31 Juillet 2022

Shower, doors, floor and dryers are filthy and hairy. Front desk staff was polite and helpful. Thank you Wesley. But the room and bathroom…. 4 stars really? Impossible! Beds were lumpy and hard. Terrible!

"Nice stay"
Fromhome1, 26 Juillet 2022

Given the remote place that is Whitehorse this hotel was ok. We stayed 4 nights in total three nights pre a visit further north then another on way south. First three nights were in an older room which hadn't been refurbished but which was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning was incredibly loud and was stuck on cold but as it was cool while there we managed by turning it off and on as required- the unit was old so the noise would have been a constant. House keeping didn't turn up one day so the evening housekeeper had to do our room. Reception staff happily sorted it and the evening man was pleasant about doing it. On second stay we got a refurbished room which was much nicer as it was modern and the air con worked and was quieter but as it was an in wall model there was still some noise but not as bad. Bar is showing signs of wear with some tables and chairs being passed their best. Food is a average but it's not trying to be fancy. Some nights it was busy and long waits others ok. I have a feeling that like lots of places the hotel is short of staff at times and thus service not always at its best. On the plus side it's right in the heart of town so the shops and most cafes and restaurants are within walking distance. Didn't see anything that looked any better in the area. Reception staff were generally helpful and accommodating

"Our Best Hotel On The Alcan"
Sarah S, 22 Juillet 2022

This hotel was a Godsend on our Alcan trip. We asked for a quiet room and, for a slightly higher rate, received a room that was completely quiet, nicely spacious, and extremely comfortable. The beds were the best of our 64-hours-of-driving road trip. And, to my surprise, breakfast at the hotel was very good. The people at the hotel and restaurant go out of their way to make sure that guests have a good experience. We certainly did! Driving the Alcan isn't something that I anticipate repeating, but if I do, the first reservation I'll make will be for this hotel.

"Great hotel"
Coastal37529859589, 22 Juillet 2022

Hotel had very nice and clean rooms. Staff was very friendly. Hotel was located right downtown, walking distance to local restaurants. Hotel was quiet and alot of rooms were updated. Worth a stay if you are looking for a place to stay

"Above and Beyond"
shar0ncruse, 12 Juillet 2022

The team at BW Whitehorse were very welcoming and went above and beyond to look out for me during my stay. The rooms were comfortable and the location is perfect for exploring the town. The restaurant was friendly and the food was great.

"Misleading reservation"
Seaside09857733724, 06 Juillet 2022

Before I go into detail about the reservation, I would like to acknowledge that the front desk staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be when the error at check in happened. The customer service at this location was great. Through booking, we reserved a room that said it had two Queen beds and a pull out. As we are a family of six, we booked this room. Upon check in, we were given a room with two Queen beds. When we spoke with front desk, they said that there are no rooms with two double beds and a pull out. They were very surprised to see the confirmation we had with that detail. They did immediately send a single cot up to the room, which were grateful for. The miscommunication is between the hotel and booking, and I hope it gets fixed. Otherwise, as I stated, great front desk service, cute hotel and a good place if you want to walk and explore downtown. We would not stay here again as the room seemed cramped, but it would suit a smaller group, such as four people.

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn Whitehorse"
yvr2022, 22 Juin 2022

Excellent service and cleanliness. Very welcoming and attentive to the guests needs. Overall a very positive experience. Staff are polite and efficient . Rooms are large and spacious, as well. I would recommend this hotel.

"Stay Elsewhere"
489katherinee, 30 Mai 2022

I always read reviews prior to booking a hotel and I also write reviews hoping others will read also. First they booked the wrong type of room. That wouldn't have been a problem if the gentleman wasn't annoyed when I went back and had me standing there for 15 minutes while he fiddled around on the computer. You can hear people walking above you all night. TV kept going in and out of service. They offer no breakfast other than buying in their restaurant. They don't even offer you coffee. I went to look at another place while there so I can stay on my return trip from Alaska and I would recommend Northern Lights Lodge. Place is amazing and the gentleman spent a half hour showing me the different accommodations they have for less the price than what you will pay here.

"Beautiful & historical Hotel in Whitehorse!"
brittanynetherton, 24 Mai 2022

Great hotel! Staff were extremely helpful, rooms were extremely clean and really historical inside. First time in Whitehorse and it was nice to come back from work and relax to! Definitely recommend it here!

"Northern lights at the golden Age INn"
Halfcutnorth, 19 Avril 2022

I was invited to stay at the Golden Age in for a business trip last week. It was excellent. Though I did not see the Northern Lights, I had such a great time at the hotel, I was happy nonetheless. Everyone should stay at the golden Age Inn

"Gold Rush - Nightmare"
georginavilleneuve, 16 Avril 2022

I called in advance to make sure they knew I was coming with a service dog. The person who answered the phone told me I could not have the room that I booked because I had a pet. I told him no it is a service dog but he said no you have to go to a pet room. Then he told me because he was moving me he would give me a discount on the pet clean up fee? The fee was $25 then $50 then $100. Then when I again told him that my dog was a service dog he agreed to waive the fee. At check-in I tried to explain the issue again but the young man overheard and started yelling at me about my service dog? Then they insisted that we went to a pet friendly room that was right over the lobby and people were out front drunk and screaming. The room was beyond filthy and the tub was full of long black hair. The door to the bathroom was covered in dirt. The towels were yellow with age and the bathroom mat was disgusting. We just packed up and after we were able to get a room at another hotel. The overall room was dusty and dirty. I made sure to take pictures. We have stayed at the gold rush on each visit to see family. Never again and I plan on reporting the gold rush to the veterans association ,chamber of commerce and human rights. What a nightmare. What part of a service dog do you not understand.

"Characterful, comfortable spot with a cool vibe!!!"
catherinerehwinkel, 02 Avril 2022

We loved all the staff we encountered, the Gold Pan restaurant's good and atmosphere, and the location is amazing—right in the midst of shopping, bars, restaurants, other businesses. Was super comfy and I loved the prospecting gear on display in the lobby. Like a little museum. Would definitely return and recommend.

"2 Nights."
Glynis K, 30 Mars 2022

A night spent here at either end of our stay in Whitehorse, which meant 2 different rooms. Both were clean and with comfy queen beds. Furniture did look as if it had seen better days, but we were not staying long enough to worry about that. Bathroom clean, no hot water issues, as in the bedroom, mirror & vanity unit quite tired looking, but with a modern sink! We ate a few times at the adjoining hotel restaurant/bar, reasonable service and food. All in all, what this had to offer just suited our needs.

"Nice Place, Great Location"
Tracy B, 24 Mars 2022

Stayed 4 nights in a Queen room ..Was very clean and modern, comfortable bed ..located downtown near shopping and restaurants..I had a nice view of some snow covered mountains .Enjoyed my stay and would recommend!

"Two Night Stay"
Milford_PaMooseman, 12 Mars 2022

We stayed two nights while on a tour of the Northern Lights. The staff was excellent and the room was clean. We ate at the restaurant next door and the food was good. It is an easy walk to all of the attractions in Whitehorse. On my next visit to this area I would stay here again.

"Nice little home base in Whitehorse."
aar0nperr0tt, 07 Mars 2022

I hade a suite with a kitchenette, which was great, but I pretty much ate 80% of the time at the in-house restaurant. Super friendly staff, nice and clean, close to amenities. Room was nice and tidy, clean and well maintained. Food downstairs was great, with fantastic servers. Good atmosphere. Short walk to car rentals, shopping, more food, etc. Just remember the parking meters out front are enforced on the weekends!

"Excellent Restaurant"
TravellingJakeBlog, 06 Mars 2022

The hotel is in a good location but the rooms are tired and showing their age. The room was clean but it's hard for furnishings so old to really be clean. The restaurant is excellent, very good food and good value for money.

"Cozy, friendly location"
Natalie V, 30 Janvier 2022

Not a typical Best Western! The building is steeped in history you can feel at every corner. Comfy rooms. Great proximity in town. Very friendly helpful staff. Solid WiFi. The restaurant/lounge has friendly staff, great select and arguably the best Mac & cheese I've ever had! Easy walk to grocery, river, black street stairs and all parts of downtown! Note: airport transfers on hold due to covid however it's a quick taxi ride so wasn't a barrier. Also, I did a package tour outside of Whitehorse and the Gold Rush seems to be a familiar and regular pick up spot for a lot of tours companies making activities outside the city very convenient!

"An Oasis from the cold"
RollsRoyce3, 17 Janvier 2022

I doubt there are finer accommodations in Whitehorse. The rooms are pretty standard but seem to be a little more spacious. The heat works great and everything I ate in the restaurant was plentiful and delicious. They also have what they call Off Sales where are you can order beer wine or liquor to go. You're right downtown so if it's too cold you can just do some short walks and pretty much cover most of the downtown. I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. And you can get delivery from all the local restaurants. Great spot

"Very friendly staff"
northernvisit, 02 Janvier 2022

Our rooms very clean, all of the staff very friendly. Felt very comfortable and have never slept in a more comfortable hotel bed. Would have really enjoy fresh coffee early in the morning as the room coffee powder creamer was not the best. But they do have a fridge to put your own cream in. Very small detail, however the overall experience was lovely

"Great stay"
sweetgreatzy, 28 Décembre 2021

The location is convenient. Hotel room is clean. It's a pet friendly hotel. Only one thing that they should change is wifi. I can't use it so well. It's pretty slow. By the way, I would like to come back staying here again.

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn Whitehorse"
MJLV2021, 23 Décembre 2021

Very good northern hotel. Fast and friendly service. This hotel is in a great location at the top of Main Street. Only negative comment is that the Water in the bath/shower was only warm (not hot) in the latter part of the morning unfortunately.

"Nice place"
ochuko56, 01 Décembre 2021

like the hotel location because it was 10mins from the Airport, it was a short trip for us because we had to layover at Whitehorse. Hotel feels warm and homely , nice restaurant, friendly staffs, easy to check in/out.

"Great place to stay in Whitehorse, YT"
Albert C, 20 Octobre 2021

The hotel is right on Main St and walking distance to shopping and good restaurants. The room was clean and spacious with a TV, coffee maker and fridge. Good sized parking lot available. Overall a good experience and would recommend to anyone visiting Whitehorse.

"Stay"
esmith311, 16 Octobre 2021

Clean and efficient staff and room. Restaurant food and service and servers great, friendly and fun. Only funny issue is the bathroom was small, felt like you had to walk in and back out but joking aside clean, and well laid out.

"A Home away from Home"
871jasleengill, 08 Octobre 2021

Totally enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff at the front desk was amazing, especially Emily. So love how she handled the situation of room problems that we were having and right away made our stay the most comfortable and memorable. I would certainly recommend everyone to stay at this hotel. Emily made our stay feel like a home away from home for us.

"Great Gold Rush"
shearzone, 08 Octobre 2021

Clean spacious rooms with no funny smells. Gold Rush Saloon is a great place for grub and drinks. Walking distance to other restaurants and bars. Short drive to airport. This is my favourite hotel to stay at when in town and I would definitely come again. As a customer, the only downside is that it is often full!

"Disappointing"
Traveller881206, 01 Octobre 2021

Positive: - Located at Main street where you can find all the restaurants and pubs - Staff at check out was friendly and understanding - Free parking Negative: - room on 2nd floor (2 Queens beds), which we got, needs definitely a renovation. Old carpet, damaged furniture, smelling drains, etc. General bad air in the room. We know that there are some renovated rooms in the upper floors. You should book them - when we wanted to go to sleep the first night we found a dirty spot on the sheets of one bed. When I contacted the reception the only solution was that I had to look for a staff room with clean sheets and should change it myself for this night because there is no room service available after 4pm. We had to ask for changing sheets again the next day after 2pm. Although we got a CAD80 discount for the first night at check out this is a no go for a hotel which stays for cleanliness. Not to talk about what this means with regards to their covid guidelines… - staff at check in was friendly but not really helpful with the problem of the dirty sheets. Additionally she had private phone calls on two days and just noticed me after I rang the bell - price is too high for this room. We got far better rooms for lower prices during our five week trip through Western Canada - can't comment on food of the pub because staff just shouted there is no table available and after WE asked when the next table is available the only answer was just “maybe in 20-30min”. Sorry we ate at another restaurant with friendly staff after waiting for a table.

"Great downtown location, decor is very reminiscent of the Gold Rush days"
thankunextbeach, 27 Septembre 2021

Smack dab in the middle of downtown, this hotel is essentially walkable to most attractions of Whitehorse. Hotel is pretty spacious. Lobby decor is totally amazing, resembling like a wilderness lodge mixed with Gold Rush era decor. Room looks newly renovated. The adjoining restauramt has nice decor and has great breakfast. Though it is not free. Decor is essentially like an 1890s saloon.

"Great option in Whitehorse"
JamesE1335, 26 Septembre 2021

The staff is extremely polite, courteous and professional. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The 4th floor has been fully renovated but the older rooms are still nice. The fitness center is well equipped. The restaurant on-site is good. The location is excellent for walking around town. I've stayed at 4 hotels in Whitehorse and my last few trips have been to this one.

"Noise that went on all night"
robert2021934, 19 Septembre 2021

Worst night ever spent in a hotel with noise from room above that went on all night and I mean all night. The next morning I requested to be moved from under the noise makers and was advised that was not possible and those folks were staying for 40 nights. Totally unsatisfied and hard to believe we paid for such a experience. Had to find another hotel for the next night.

"Very well situated"
FarFlungStarling, 13 Septembre 2021

This hotel is located within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and historic attractions. It is about 20 minutes to the airport. The hotel itself is old but well maintained, clean and comfortable. Check-in and out is quick and efficient and lobby staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and bright with mini fridge and coffee maker. This hotel also has an attached restaurant/ sport bar (Gold Pan) which was super convenient. We stayed for 4 nights and were very comfortable here.

"Comfortable basic hotel"
Mjo1279, 07 Septembre 2021

Great property if you are looking for a comfortable and basic hotel in Whitehorse. No fancy bells and whistles but definitely comfortable and clean. It also had a lot of character, especially in the front lobby and bar.

"All around excellent experience"
Fearless02166973596, 04 Septembre 2021

I would not hesitate to use this hotel again, these people really care and do a super job. They kept our luggage safe in a locked up area until we could check in. When we needed to stay an additional night, they found a way of finding us (my hunting partner and I) a room to share in their fully booked out hotel.

"September"
health487, 02 Septembre 2021

I stay here a lot. Great service, nice housekeeping staff and hotel rooms are clean. Elevator is painfully slow. There is not enough parking spots so i would have to get up early to move my vehicle to the free hotel spots.

"Awesome stay following Lombok evacuation"
Remi068, 17 Août 2021

Front desk guy got me an upgraded room for the AAA price, as no regular room left. Also took the time to thanks me for visiting Yukon upon on behalf of local tourist industry. Kudo for him, hope he recognize himself here.

"Poor Parking Situation"
taurus0202, 07 Août 2021

The small dirt lot available was difficult for a large, towing vehicle and there was a lake forming in the lot that further reduced our options. If I don't park in the small lot, it had to be on the city street which is metered at certain times of the day. It was observably an unsafer part of town, but then the front desk mentioned there had been break-ins lately. While I appreciate the heads up, we would've had to unreasonably unpack all our items (traveling with 3 vehicles moving to a entirely new home). There's only a few options in the area to rest so we didn't feel as though we had much of a choice. The water was lukewarm for the better part of a shower and gotten warm towards the end. However, the beds and pillows were great.

"Quarantine in comfort"
Denise S, 17 Mai 2021

My stay at the Gold Rush was to isolate for 14 days as coming from BC. The room was beautiful and very spacious. Having a kitchenette was wonderful. I was able to walk and as it is right in the downtown.

"Clean and Great Location"
OdileElaRousselle, 08 Mai 2021

The Best Western Gold Rush Inn is a nice quiet hotel where the front desk staff is professional and efficient. The rooms are very clean as is the rest of the hotel including the laundry room which impressed me. The food at the restaurant/lounge is good, the service on the other hand has been disappointing on more than one occasion. I would recommend eating at the 506 All Day Grill across the street; the food there is always great and my husband and I have never experienced poor and bad service. The Best Western now provides parking cards to place on your dash and it seems to have improved the availability of parking which is wonderful. This hotel is pet friendly; their pet fee is $30.00 a night to a max of $150.00 per week. Very expensive pet fee but it is what it is.

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn, Whitehorse"
pdrath, 02 Mai 2021

The Best Western Gold Rush Inn is our favorite place to stay in Whitehorse. It is in the heart of downtown, and close to everything. The rooms have recently been updated, and are modern né comfortable. This is our home away from home.

"Business stay"
kalbhatti, 23 Mars 2021

Overall place was great considering the situation covid-19. We were greeted by the staff well. Great location middle of town. Great staff at the counter and bar/restaurant. Great bar and people although everyone was separated by plexiglass.

"Great Stay"
PBrais59, 25 Février 2021

My wife was needing to stay near the hospital while I was having surgery. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and prompt. With Covid playing a factor in all things we were impressed with the protocols in place ensuring maximum safety for their guests. I would stay there again.

"Best Western, Whitehorse"
kirksmeeton, 16 Février 2021

Clean rooms, good service, reasonable price, so yes would stay again. Staff was polite and friendly, one issue we had at the restaurant was resolved quickly and we were given a free appetizer from the restaurant regarding the issue. Overall was a comfortable relaxing experience

"Worse food ever this day"
Brianwal69, 14 Février 2021

My friend and I stop in for a burger and a steak. Both times his steak was over done and the halibut was dry too. Ordered a burger usually a safe bet...burnt way over cooked. Said our displeasure with our food to the server and nothing done about it. Won't be back any time soon. Other bartender rushed us out and was rude. Can't say anything good about the food. Talent has dropped dramatically in the kitchen .

"Breakfast"
W3887LYjohnv, 19 Décembre 2020

A group of us went for an office breakfast at the gold rush. The service was good but who on earth would serve McCain hash brown patties at a restaurant where you're paying 15 bucks for a breakfast?? Bad choice guys and I hope you change it back to real hash browns.

"Sketchy area"
tkhalaska, 12 Octobre 2020

Upon check-in the front entry was obstructed by several inebriated persons who were smoking and swearing. There was another homeless appearing person sitting inside the hotel lobby talking to himself and swearing. I inquired about breakfast for guests and was told there was a complimentary breakfast available starting at 0700. At checkout I was told there was a breakfast available for purchase and there was not even a coffee service for guests. The room was clean and the bed comfy.

"Best western whitehorse stay"
bradliesch7119, 09 Octobre 2020

Hotel was nice, staff was friendly. Room was modern and nice. I had breakfast and lunch at the lounge. Both were good and reasonably priced. Parking was convenient. Front desk had my email address incorrect, but fixed it and re-sent my recepts very quickly when I brought up the mistake.

"Nice hotel in a very good location"
abarker02, 26 Septembre 2020

This is a newer, well managed hotel only a short walk from the downtown shops, museums and restaurants. We found the staff friendly, our room clean and comfortable and the on-site restaurant convenient for breakfast.

"Most recent stay was great!"
DiverDown79, 01 Septembre 2020

I've stayed at this property a few times and wasn't expecting much. Apparently that's because my previous stays had me in the OLDER section of the hotel. My most recent stay was in the newer wing and it felt like a totally different property. The rooms & offerings were significantly better than my previous stays - brand new bed, huge tv, clean (or remodeled) bathroom; wifi was better.

"Not recommended"
norbertk228, 30 Mars 2020

Not so clean is fore sore. You can tell when you look around on the lobby or a walkway this place is never been cleaned properly before. Example in the lobby you can see close to the wall and the tiles meet filth is piling up that's mean it never used a map properly the walkway it's a very poor ceiling job looks like they're so cheap to pay proper maintenance to keep the hotel updated and being nice. The restaurant is horrible I ordered supper and dinner both time the food was burned. This is not a Best Western hotel quality.

"Whitehorse Visit"
kstapleton1963, 02 Mars 2020

For the most part it was a nice hotel with friendly staff all around including the restaurant and bar. The food was good and reasonably priced. The gym and board room is dated and could use some updating. The gym was very basic and limited in it's equipment however if only 1 or 2 people are in there at a time it works they just need to work on the atmosphere in it and a non gym like oder.

"Great Location"
AnDunn, 01 Mars 2020

We recently stayed in Whitehorse & stayed at the Best Western Gold Rush Inn. The hotel was in a very good location, you could walk to most places, including some very good restaurants. The hotel itself is a little dated, but very clean. The service was good. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is due to the heating; the room was very cold & they could not get the thermostat working properly, they did bring in portable heaters which helped and did work to heat the room. Overall, good place to stay, I would recommend them & would stay there again.

"Nice hotel "
Journeyfamily, 20 Février 2020

We stayed here as part of a tour package and were very pleased with our stay. - Good location near cafes and restaurants - Well appointed and clean rooms (a bit on the small side) - Staff were generally helpful and professional - On-site restaurant - Coin operated laundry available

"Good, simple and clean."
Jenn D, 15 Février 2020

An old feel with modern updates. The beds were very comfortable, it was clean and perfect for two nights. The gym was big, could be updated. Restaurant was also really delicious. Overall it was good, nothing bad but nothing fancy.

"Very nice hotel in center of town"
icsmithyvr, 12 Février 2020

Our rooms (in/out) we both nice. Comfortable beds, decent amenities, fast WIFI. No complaints whatsoever. Pub is a well-known local watering hole, with live music and a lively atmosphere on Friday's, but seemed popular on other nights too. Good value, friendly and helpful staff and easy access to the rest of downtown, the river, restaurants, etc.

"Great hotel"
giz768, 06 Février 2020

The hotel rooms have been upgraded and they are very nice. Great service from the front desk, restaurant and lounge, cleaning staff and any requests we made. Close walking proximity to several well known restaurants and shopping. The best place to say in Whitehorse!

"Our home away from Home"
pdrath, 16 Janvier 2020

Best Western Gold Rush Inn is our home away from home. The centrally located facility is handy for our trips to Whitehorse. The staff are friendly, and the rooms are pet friendly. The rewards program lets us enjoy a free stay a few to es a year.

"Good Location- Friendly Staff-Clean"
markwI3147BL, 12 Janvier 2020

The agency we used for our adventure trip, book this hotel on our behalf. The staff was wonderful. Friendly, helpful etc.. The rooms are very clean. You can tell once you see the bathroom, that this building and the furnishings are dated. The walls are very thin, so you can hear next door every person who walks down the hall in their big boots. Except for the sound proofing needs, it was a very comfortable stay.

"Poor preparation"
Martin400921, 07 Janvier 2020

We arrived mid-evening. At -26 C outside the thermostat stood at 0 and the room assigned had one inadequate baseboard heater under a large window. It took hours to become comfortable. With very few guests and creaky floors, another guest was assigned the room above us.

"Great stay"
robalaide, 06 Janvier 2020

I would happily recommend this hotel when staying in Whitehorse. The staff are friendly, rooms are clean, access is so easy. Just a really pleasant, no stress stay. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the waiting staff were attentive and kind.

"One of the best in Whitehorse"
D2DARWIN, 06 Janvier 2020

I have stayed at several of the local hotels and find this one to be one of the best. Staff was welcoming, Location was great lots of shops and eating establishments near by, room was clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced for Whitehorse.

"Fabulous place"
229margaretp, 29 Décembre 2019

Stayed there for northern lights tour. Very friendly reception staff very helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Had a great stay there. Whitehorse is a lovely place would definitely recommend it

"Wonderful Staff"
Betsy S, 29 Décembre 2019

Had an extended stay at this hotel for medical travel. The staff was wonderful and accommodating despite our ever changing plans. The front desk staff were all friendly and went out of their way to greet our dog and toddler. Even the maintenance staff would always stop to say hi.

"Good place to stay in town. "
Daysie2300, 27 Décembre 2019

In town and close to shops, restaurants and very easy to navigate. The beds were firm, comfortable and the rooms were clean. Front desk was helpful and friendly. We had lunch down in the saloon and it was good. No live music on our night but Friday-Sunday nights there is. The bartender was fun and friendly to talk with and answered our questions about life in Whitehorse. I would recommend staying here if you are wanting the small town feel. Stores and restaurants do close early so do your shopping first and then enjoy dinner!

"Great hotel amazing staff"
alikev80, 09 Décembre 2019

Great hotel we stayed here and the service was so warm and welcoming, the rooms were clean and of a great standard, the hotel bar restaurant was great as well, the staff in the bar were helpful we had the pleasure of having a bar member called Shannon helping us choose through the drinks menu giving us advise on what was a good drink (Ceaser) absolute blow your socks off but a must when visiting

"Pleasant and comfortable"
advisor45, 08 Décembre 2019

We didn't lack anything and we were treated warmly at this stay. It was nice to have our special needs met promptly; we were coming off of a hospital procedure and needed a quiet room away from the lounge and restaurant areas as there was live music that night ..

"Fantastic value and location"
Leo P, 05 Décembre 2019

Safe, clean and fantastic staff. Great location within walking distance of many services and attractions. A huge shout out to Tatjianna, one of the front desk personnel. Best Western should be very proud to have her on their team.

"Business trip in November"
kevinsmith22018, 02 Décembre 2019

They are in the process of renovating rooms. The room I was in was already renovated, and was modern looking. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. The location is central so I was able to get around the town without driving. The shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient. I am coming back in January and will be staying here again.

"Exceeds expectations "
CABear00, 27 Novembre 2019

I'll be honest I didn't expect the best things about this hotel prior to coming, but it was a great stay. The room was clean with very comfortable bedding. The service from the front staff was wonderful; Tatiana was always extremely cheery and kind. The location is great, everything is within walking distance and you're one block from the main shops and restaurants. The only negative I would say is that the floors are quite creaky, so you can hear the people on the floor above you moving around, but other than that the hotel was extremely quiet. I expected some noise from the restaurant below but didn't hear anything, this may be different though if you are right above it. If you are planning to stay in Whitehorse close to downtown, this is a fantastic choice and I'd highly recommend it.

"Vehicle broke down"
kittymissblue, 20 Novembre 2019

The staff made us feel so welcome. Room was clean and nice. Hotel kept up as well. Good restaurant on site and laundry. Room to park with our trailer. Housekeeping staff was very friendly as well. Would ask if we needed anything.

"Nice Best Western in great location"
Jeanette1, 16 Novembre 2019

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in October as part of our quest to see the Northern Lights. This was the perfect place to stay - great location on the main street with easy access to shops and restaurants, and the river is only a couple of blocks away. Also right by the main road leading in and out of town (4th St). Our room on the 4th floor was very spacious and appeared recently remodeled. Likewise the bathroom, with modern vessel sink. Heating was controlled by a thermostat on the wall and worked perfectly. The room, while facing Main St,, was very quiet. About the only downside was the extremely slow elevator - after using it one time, we chose to walk up and down the stairs for the rest of our stay, jokingly referring to it as our exercise plan. Speaking of Northern Lights, we had a tour booked through Northern Tales for the first night of stay. The tour meets in the lobby, so it's very convenient. No lights that night, but with a clear forecast for the last night of our stay, we decided to try again. Fortunately, the Northern Tales office is right in the hotel, so we were able to book a tour again - and voila - we saw them that night!! We ate in the hotel restaurant twice - had a delicious salmon sandwich for lunch one day - recommended! Lots of other restaurants nearby - Burnt Toast is great for breakfast or lunch. We also visited the Yukon Wildlife Preserve (about 30 minutes out of town) - awesome place to view local wildlife including bison, moose, caribou, and lynx among others. You can walk a 5-km trail through the preserve at your leisure. In summary, the Best Western is centrally located, with attractive, modern rooms - great place to stay!

"Best place to stay in Whitehorse"
davelilly2018, 31 Octobre 2019

I was in Whitehorse for 30 days for work (relief duties with the RCMP) the Best Western is the cleanest and nicest place to stay. The room I had was a small apartment with a full kitchen. It was perfect. I would highly recommend it. They were doing some renovations to make it even better.

"Great stay - too short!"
JML804, 30 Octobre 2019

Northern friendliness & hospitality at its best! Friendly and efficient. All staff encountered appeared happy at their work and smiling. Even the tile-setter (doing a reno) had a moment to chat and he didn't actually work for the hotel.

"Great location, friendly staff"
GillyT, 13 Octobre 2019

Spent 3 nights here. The hotel is in a great location and easy to walk into town. The outside is stunning and has been recently renovated. Out room was clean and comfortable and bathroom had a bath that was much appreciated as needed a nice soak after travelling. Reception staff were welcoming and friendly. We had breakfast here every morning and staff were very friendly and the food good. Had dinner here once and again the service was good. Food was fine but this is a noisy local bar and on the evening we went it was packed with people coming in to watch hockey on the tv screens. Its lovely to see it used by so many locals but we wanted something a little quieter on the other evenings. All in all this is a good base for exploring Whitehorse. Would recommend it.

"great hotel"
AnchalLll, 11 Octobre 2019

The hotel is very nice and the rooms are very clean. The location is very good, right in the town. The staff is excellent. they have a free shuttle to the to and from the airport and they have a restaurant at the location. We had breakfast there and it was excellent.

"WONDERFUL STAY!!!"
80Countries, 11 Octobre 2019

My husband I recently stayed at the Best Western Gold Rush in Yukon and had the time of our life! We actually extended our stay by 3 days because we could not tear ourselves away from this fabulous place! The location in town is perfect, the staff at the hotel treat you like family, the food in their restaurant is delicious (we ate there every night!) and the rooms were so comfy and clean!! This hotel deserves a standing ovation for making their guests feel so happy and special each and every day!!! Thank you so much Tarang! You went above the call of duty to ensure all our needs were met and always with a smile! :-) Jatin, your kind assistance was always appreciated as well! And everyone else at the front desk, puts their full heart into assuring your requests are cared for immediately. If you choose this hotel, you will never regret it! Go and enjoy all that Whitehorse has to offer and we hope the Northern Lights show up to wow you as well! Basing yourself at the Best Western Gold Rush guarantees a wonderful stay!!

"Nice room but overpriced"
wigsy, 06 Octobre 2019

As a Diamond select member I was somewhat disappointed with the Gold Rush Inn. The room was fine and the staff was very friendly and accommodating however it is way over priced for what you get. The lobby needs a makeover and they need more elevators. The restaurant there was very tired and outdated and looked like it had too many “colourful” characters in it, hence we didn't eat there. It is too bad it could be really good with some updating.

"Not worth the money"
Odile R, 17 Septembre 2019

Old Hotel, parking lot is very small and you may end up having to park a ways from the front door. The closest parking at 12PM when I checked in with an elder was in the back end of the parking lot in the alley. I did not feel safe. The room we had (314) had two beds in it and was very small, the door literally hits the bed as you open it. The bathroom door frame had water damage and could use a touch up of paint. We stayed here because my "go to" hotel in Whitehorse, the Coast High Country Inn, was fully booked. I had to ask for the parking permit at the front desk so that my car did not get towed. That should be a given, I should not need to ask for it or at least be offered the parking permit. The room was way too expensive for what we got. I was not impressed by either the staff or the facility. On the positive end of things though I need to state that the hotel is clean and was quiet. The bed I slept on was comfortable and my elder friend slept well too. Lastly, in the morning I took a shower and the water went from the set temperature to cold. It did this several times, I did not address it with the front desk because I just wanted to get out of there and come home. Besides, the front desk have no control over the water tanks. For those of us who smoke, this is not a welcoming place. They do have a bench a ways from the front door (rightly so) but have no ashtray. My suggestion would be to have parking assigned for guests that are either older individuals, young families, or women traveling alone. Parking in a dark alley is not anything that contributed to my feeling safe at 12PM. Their parking lot needs better lighting.

"First time here"
jenrunsal0t, 16 Septembre 2019

One of if not, THE best hotel in Whitehorse. Our room was excellent and service great. I would advise that they turn down the heat in the hotel, the elevator and hallways were too warm given time if year and temperatures outside (18 degrees Celsius). I will definitely come back.

"wonderful stay"
Howard B, 15 Septembre 2019

courteous and attentive reception at front desk, informative and showed interest in our conversation answering our questions about Whitehorse area. answered all questions and explained how the schedule for the restaurant hours were.

"Rays overview"
Raymond C, 15 Septembre 2019

We found this hotel very convenient to downtown Whitehorse and they have a shuttle to and from airport. The rooms were clean and well put together. Including a fridge, microwave. coffee maker etc. The showers could use a little updating but were functional and clean. The attached restaurant and lounge was excellent and friendly. Very good food for both breakfast and dinner. Would definitely stay here again if in Whitehorse

"Comfortable clean room in tired hotel."
LindaCC_10, 07 Septembre 2019

The hotels in Whitehorse are letting their visitors down. Restaurants, tours and other amenities are top notch, however the hotels are not. This is likely the best of a poor lot. Room was clean, bed was super comfortable with great linens and pillows, however the hotel inside is tired and not befitting other Best Westerns I've stayed in. Warning: WiFi is horrible ... it's a Whitehorse one provider problem,so just be forwarded, not a good place to try to get work done while away!!!

"Adequate Hotel"
805nsb, 26 Août 2019

For what is available in Whitehorse the Best Western is on the better side. Some rooms do not have A/C, only a desk fan. Internet is good. Onsite restaurant that is decent. Good location to downtown area. Friendly front desk personnel. Rooms are good.

"BEST IN WHITEHORSE"
Wayne154943, 26 Août 2019

I have tried four different hotels in Whitehorse; the Best Western is the cleanest, has the most comfortable beds, and the best lobby and room decor. It will be my hotel of choice for my next trip. The staff are great too.

"Family group"
karena108, 23 Août 2019

Our group of seven enjoyed our visit to Whitehorse and our stay at the Best Western Gold Rush Inn very much. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The beds are extremely comfortable. We had two 2 bedroom suites shared between 7 people. We had all the utensils, dishes pots and pans that we needed. Anytime we ran out of anything it was refilled for us. We really enjoyed our stay

"First Night in Whitehorse"
Girl-Friday56, 22 Août 2019

I arrived late at the airport and found a shuttle bus to take me to the Gold Rush Inn hotel ( foc) The staff were warm and welcoming and processed me quickly to my room. 2 large beds with en suite including a bath. Fridge and tea /coffee facilties. Ironing board and hair dryer. The aircon was quite loud and it wasn't until morning that I discovered a plug to disconnect it, obviously I was so tired I missed that. The coffee machine made great coffee and had a tea as well. A pity that I had to be away so early it would have been nice to relax a bit longer here.

"Expensive for what you get, a very dated Hotel that needs renos badly"
MogKelowna, 14 Août 2019

Whitehorse is not know for it's nice accommodations. But even with that this hotel was a disappointment especially for a Best Western. I had stayed here many years ago and it looks exactly the same - no updates etc. It is very dated and needs to be totally refreshed. The exterior is the best looking part. Check in and out was lengthy and a bit confusing as wrong room was assigned by the male front counter person. The room itself was not very clean (especially the bathroom) and smelled of cigarette smoke. They were fully booked so we couldn't change rooms so we were given two fans to circulate the stale air. The AC didn't work and it was hot in the room, the fans did help a bit and thankfully the outside air did cool down at night. Our room faced the alley which was pretty noisy after the pubs closed later at night. I suggest getting a top floor room facing the street. Both days when we returned to our room in the late afternoon our room was not made up. So we had to ask for it to be made up and sit in the lobby while they made up the beds. The only one positive about this hotel was two of the female front counter staff. They were awesome and tried to deal with our concerns as well as a few other guests that were not happy. They did their best and remained friendly and attentive. It is probably better in the off season when they are not full and can move guests to different rooms. This place is badly in need of renos/upgrades. Time to put some money back into this hotel especially when guests are paying Vancouver prices.

"Nice stay "
Dene-roots, 12 Août 2019

It was a good stay with A/C room. Pet friendly. Good walking distance to some great restaurants and local must see in the area. Had supper in the restaurant but would have preferred else where. Parking is very small, but you can park in the 24 hrs pay parking but it's free if your a guest. Staff at the desk were ok but made errors when it was time to check out. Finally after several days and calls they reversed the charge to our Visa. Will stay again !

"INTERESTING, COMFORTABLE TOURIST HOTEL"
gmdalberta, 07 Août 2019

My wife and I stayed here during a holiday road trip. This hotel is located in downtown Whitehorse, close to a number of restaurants and attractions such as the SS Klondike. There is ample parking on site, and the exterior is clean and well maintained. This is an older property that has been well maintained and renovated. The front lobby is a reasonable size, with a Mountie statue and other Yukon history items on display. The staff were very helpful and friendly, with a great deal of knowledge regarding the sights and features of Whitehorse. The hotel has 2 elevators, and quite a few rooms. The room we had was well equipped and large, with a very comfortable bed and very clean bathroom. The Internet was good, but the room lacked a reasonable number of power outlets. Breakfast was not included. There is a bar attached right off the lobby. I would not hesitate to stay here again, since it is quiet, well run and very central to the downtown.

"Never again"
brendaski3, 06 Août 2019

Nothing wrong with the room. Front desk was pleasant. Most hotels offer a better rate if you call them. These guys offered $269.00 for a room that I could have gotten online for $211. Really have to watch them. Also would not come and get us in the shuttle, only certain times. So we have to get a cab both ways back to the airport.

"Poor Value for Money"
abhishekpandey2019, 27 Juillet 2019

My apologies but i would say that the hotel has very high tariff considering the average facilities it offers ( creaking floors etc.). Staff is great though. Parking could have been better managed too. Though the hotel owns the entire parking lot, without any signage it seems that free parking for guests is very limited.

"Convenient location, old hotel"
LA2AK, 18 Juillet 2019

Check in was a bit of a mess, but we were finally able to get to our room after about 30 minutes. I had to specify that our reservation was prepaid so they did not charge me again, which seemed odd. The room itself was fine, and the beds were comfortable, but the room itself smelled off-putting. For the price, $185 USD, the lack of an included breakfast was also annoying. They are pet-friendly. Their parking situation is odd as you can end up parking somewhat far away from the hotel if it is full, and it was not convenient for someone towing a trailer. I might stay again if I was passing through and didn't have another option, but would likely review other hotels in the area further if I visited Whitehorse again.

"Lack of communication within staff"
jperegoodoff, 15 Juillet 2019

First time ever staying at this establishment, left our room at 6 am back at 9 pm. Arrived back to our room being unmade. Went to the desk, asked why? Desk clerk had no idea as if why. Asked for fresh towels, to use for the jacuzzi tub. Went back husband already in the tub, so I climb in. When I get out to have a shower, there is tape across the tub faucet handle. No explanation, so again go downstairs. The desk clerk still had no idea so I show her the pictures taken to prove what I'm saying. I can call maintenance as see if they can fix it. Ah at 1030 at night I don't think so. It'll be awhile before he comes and I'll be cranky cause it'll be late and no shower. So please move us to a new room. Sorry booked solid. So I request to call supervisor. No answer called someone else by mistake. Try again no answer. Then low and behold there is a note saying shower needs fixing close room. So miraculously she finds a room available. Must say that this room wasn't entirely clean, found some clothing that belonged to a previous guest. Our room ended up being by the motors or what ever they are called to run the air conditioners and what not. Or and no air conditioning in the room we moved too.

"Gold Rush"
Compass63673447773, 13 Juillet 2019

I have stayed here many times and the people are always friendly and willing to help. Generally things are more expensive in Whitehorse, but I feel we get good value at the Gold Rush Inn. The location is good as well.

"Quaint Hotel in Yukon"
sliderk9, 10 Juillet 2019

Nice hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. Excellent location for touring the downtown area and to all the restaurants. The only issue was the fire that occurred late one night due to not following hotel procedures (fire in a bucket that spontaneously combusted that was marked to be emptied each night).

We enjoyed our stay here so much very clean room great pillows friendly staff is walking distance of everything can't wait to go back great restaurant on site plus lots of shops and lounges in area very friendly people

When our Home Away from home stood us up ....this place came to our rescue !They were gracious and willing to phone around to see if there were anything else available ! tons of free parking and very centrally located ...we walked everywhere !

"Great visit to Whitehorse and area"
Bob K, 23 Juin 2019

We stayed at the BW Gold Rush Inn on 3 occasions during our vacation in Yukon. This is an older hotel with several additions over the years. The first 4 nights were given a 2 BR suite with a full kitche - very nice. The other nights were given a smaller suite all very comfortable. All in all, I would stay there again and recommend it to others for a stay in Whitehorse.

"Always a welcome stay"
Peter M, 17 Juin 2019

The Gold Rush is normally a high demand hotel in the summer and booking well in advance is advisable. The lounge/saloon is a very nice place to relax or unwind after work (a popular spot especially on Thursday nights); its a little odd as a breakfast restaurant as well.

"Two enjoyable stays"
operalover939, 16 Juin 2019

We stayed for two days at the beginning of the week and two at the end. In the process we learned (surprise!?) that the rooms at the back of the building are quieter and therefore better than those facing Main Street. The property is older and in places a bit worn; it needs some TLC. However, the front desk staff are very friendly and the housekeeping staff know their jobs. Furthermore, the hotel is within easy walking range of good restaurants, museums, and other amenities.

"Hotel very good. Food mediocre at best."
gdecaire, 10 Juin 2019

Room and amenities good. Front desk most helpful. Great to have laundry facilities. Restaurant disappointing. Breakfast sandwich not up to par. Had dinner special of ribs which neither of us ate as dry, chewy and tasteless. Told waitress and no action. No supervisor working to speak to, no offer of apology or bill reduction. Would not eat here again. However lounge itself good and good service.

"do not stay here!"
sauceylittlemonkey, 18 Avril 2019

elevator to 4th floor rooms does not work - you find out after they've over authorized your card for services you do not want. Front Desk staff were RUDE! I actually had to ask for a parking pass and where the parking was located - they did not offer!!!!! Room was not vacuumed, it smells and I would not stay at a Best Western again after this experience. Save yourself from the bad experience and stay elsewhere, where you are appreciated. Wifi is shotty also!

"Friendly "
70Brian44, 15 Avril 2019

We have stayed at this hotel a numerous times and have always enjoyed it. Staff is super friendly, during check in as well as during our stay and checkout. Had a great room although the air conditioning did not work (Yeah, right, in Whitehorse in April)but true. Could have used it. Will stay again on next trip. Does have the world's slowest elevator, but an opportunity to talk to other folks in the hotel.

"OK stay but very noisy"
Roam32191710776, 06 Avril 2019

The hotel is OK considering it is really very old. Being old it is a wood structure and very noisy with people walking and using the stairs. I absolutely recommend getting a 4th floor room away from the stairs. The first flights out are 6 am and when someone about you is out of bed at 3:30 am to get ready to go unless you are a very heavy sleeper it will wake you up. I was right beside the stairs and they get a lot of use, same thing extremely loud and it will wake you up.

"Noisy place"
Getaway395632, 16 Mars 2019

Music can be heard from our room from the lounge below and people walking fromthe room above. Cannot rest properly from all the noise. Complain to front desk and they said they could not help us which is unacceptable

"good hotel, good restaurant"
Yvonne H, 12 Mars 2019

Service at this hotel was excellent, all the staff was very friendly. The room has everything you needed, but wasn't fancy, but large. wifi worked well too. The attached restaurant services good food, and the location right downtown is perfect.

"Northern lights"
Ishkalishka, 20 Février 2019

I was traveling for work and was booked in this hotel. It's clean and comfortable. Staff are courteous and helpful. The restaurant serves great pub food and has a nice atmosphere. On the weekends the pub has entertainment that is worth staying for. You can book all excursions from the hotel, very easily.

"Big breakfast with a smile"
781lynna, 11 Février 2019

We loved the Gold Rush Inn - the central location made walking to dinner and shopping perfectly ‘winter fresh'. The accommodations were adequate - with soft, comfy beds. On weekends there is live entertainment that keeps very reasonable hours, not interfering with lodging guests. The best was Liz in the restaurant - every morning with a big smile, great service and a big breakfast to keep us going on busy excursions. Our family loved the friendly, hometown feel of the whole place.

"Best in the Yukon!"
deborahdK1971OB, 15 Janvier 2019

Everything worked at the Best Western Gold Rush hotel in spite of -35 degrees C. Our room, not fancy, but was more than adequate..it was very clean, well appointed, great service and care.Daily cleaning was very well done. The restaurant was fine especially if you did not want to go out to brave the elements.

"Gold Rush Inn"
Compass63673447773, 13 Janvier 2019

Good value. It is always hard to get a room in Whitehorse. The staff are friendly. The bar is medium sized , but good. The fitness facility was bigger than lots of places. Elevator is very slow. Location is very good

"Great location in the middle of town "
BillAnd, 01 Janvier 2019

Just checking out this morning, had two days at this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very clean and we had one of the largest room of our entire trip even bigger than the 5star hotels we had been staying in earlier. The lobby does get a little crowded at times but it is the pick up point for the tours so is very handy. Reasonably priced I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thanks.

"Very Comfortable"
NKJ2, 30 Décembre 2018

This is a very comfortable hotel in the centre of Whitehorse. The beds and pillows were surprisingly good.Could use al little better sound proofing between rooms though. The lobby and the front desk are small but the the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

"Location and comfort"
AM2_Toronto, 30 Décembre 2018

Enjoyed a few nights at the Gold Rush Inn as part of my Northern Lights experience with Northern Tales tour group. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Had some issues with my TV and they were quick to respond to the issue. Luckily it fixed itself, but still great that they were quick to offer help. The beds were very comfortable. The location was right on Main St. in Whitehorse, so it was a quick walk to everything you could want in Whitehorse. The restaurant/saloon in hotel also offered a good menu and local beer selection. Recommend staying here when you're in Whitehorse.

"Nice Hotel"
miguelc406, 29 Décembre 2018

Small confortable hotel. I spent 3 nights to catch the Auroras. The rooms are clean but needs renovation. You can tell because of some details that this hotel is old like the elevators. Friendly staff

"A pleasant Yukon stay"
kenliz3095, 22 Décembre 2018

The exterior of the premises is not inspiring but the Rooms are very comfortable and well layed out. Plenty of room and very clean. Very helpful staff and Tour Booking area. Hotel attached for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. I would stay here again.

"Hotel cancelled our booking without telling us!!"
Clodruss, 13 Décembre 2018

We stayed here on the first night in Yukon, the rooms are old and dated, but there is not much choice i guess in Whitehorse. If you can try and get your RV on the day you arrive and stay in one of the near Campsites. Better value for your money. We tried to stay here on our last night, but the hotel cancelled our booking without telling us or our travel agent. So we arrived at the hotel ready to check-in the the receptionist told us we didn't have a booking, and that WE had cancelled the booking 2 months earlier... This is of course was not true otherwise why would we be standing there. In the hour we stood around while the front desk tried to figure out who was to blame, a florist arrived to deliver the 80 flower arrangements for the wedding party that evening. SO guess where our booking went...?? We were kicked out to make room for a bigger group, thanks a lot Best Western!! In the end they found us a place in a BnB, seems all of the other hotels were already sold out... We found out later that this is common practice from the Best Western.

"Best location in Whitehorse "
twinklemelody, 12 Décembre 2018

So Glad that I stayed here as part of Northern Tales' package . Its location is ideal for a short vacation - a few steps away from souvenir shops, book shops, Star Bucks , subway , drugstore for extra moisturisers for the cold and dry weather . Walking distance to the picturesque Yukon River too . Rooms are larger than the regular Hotel rooms in cities . Bed was comfortable . There was a fridge and even a microwave oven in our room . I wish the shower was better though - the temp was somewhat inconsistent , either too hot or too cold . One surprising touch is the disinfected remote control ! All hotels should do this ! There is a restaurant on the lobby level that serves decent food . Salads, soups , sandwiches and even bison burger .

"Regular"
Glaucia C, 10 Décembre 2018

The location is very good. Cleanliness is poor. There is no breakfast and the service in the restaurant for breakfast is very poor and extremely time consuming. The service staff is very attentive and helpful.

"Best Western Whitehorse Yukon"
MicknMegan M, 09 Décembre 2018

Good hotel but who puts a bar with live music underneath a hotel! Not very family friendly in this manner as not one family member got any sleep due to the loud music and intoxicated people! Other than that it was ok but they really need to rethink the live music keeping everyone up!

"Lacking"
Sightsee04054479168, 04 Décembre 2018

hotel was just average staff not very friendly - spa closed all weekend - did not have room cleaned until almost 6pm They made me feel unwelcome almost - was not acknowledged as a member on check in and no thank you for choosing BW on check out. i stay at BW's across BC and Alberta over 30-40 nights a year and this location was the most disappointing

"Expensive, poor service, below average room"
Susan H, 22 Octobre 2018

We have always had a good experience with Best Western hotels, but not this time. The room was overpriced (by a lot). The sheer curtains were dirty and torn. There was no electrical outlet available near the desk for plugging in a computer or charging a device. In addition, the hotel staff was unhelpful. To be fair, management did respond to an internal review, so perhaps the deficiencies have been corrected.

"view northern lights from whitehorse"
elizabeth2wn, 17 Octobre 2018

Excellent service and staff. Good clean hotel. Big rooms, very clean bathroom and comfortable beds. Good organisation for viewing of northern lights. Good breakfast at adjoining saloon bar. Highly recommend.

"Northern Lights Tour"
Maureen G, 15 Octobre 2018

Stayed here for three nights as booked on the Northern Lights Tour. Very comfortable hotel. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms very clean. Microwave, fridge and coffee machine in room. The only downside on this hotel that being an old building the floors squeaked and you could hear people moving about above. Great location and able to walk to everything downtown. Many restaurants nearby including hotel restaurant. Shuttle to and from airport. Had snow on the day we were leaving which was really lovely to see.

"Easy to walk everywhere from here"
Jaboda, 14 Octobre 2018

Stayed here for two nights. The hotel was good. Great location you can walk to everything downtown easily. Staff were friendly and helpful with free shuttle to the airport and taxis. The room was standard but good, slept well and no complaints. Bed was comfy and good tv. There is a bar in the hotel and I was over it but it wasn't loud. No real view out the window of my room but no big deal. Solid choice. Thanks

"Close to town!"
cjkrimm, 14 Octobre 2018

This is a nice clean BW near the downtown area. They have a saloon that has live music on the weekends. They also have a airport shuttle that shows up right when the few daily flights land in Whitehorse besides also taking you to the airport at certain times. Just remember that breakfast doesn't open up 7am and that's the same time the airport shuttle leaves so you can't enjoy a breakfast if you have an early flight.

"Northern Lights tour"
Denise D, 17 Septembre 2018

Room was clean, had microwave and fridge, so we could prepare some meals. Was part of a group and other similar rooms were variable in size. I was a group leader for Girl Guides, we had 3 rooms of girls and 3 adult rooms and requested when we made our booking 6, that the girls be on the same floor and near the leaders. When we arrived, one group of girls was on the third floor by themselves and the remainder of our group with 5 rooms on the second floor. Fortunately, we were able to switch rooms around. Rooms did not have great sound barriers, you could hear people chatting in the hallway and the next room if they were really loud. The key cards took several swipes to open doors. But the room was clean and staff were great. Music in the bar at night, so if you're trying to get a nap before you view the lights, you're outta luck.

"Excellent choice"
Allen T, 16 Septembre 2018

We chose this in part because we're members of the Best Western loyalty program, but it would have been a good choice in any case. First, the hotel allowed us to store an extra suitcase while we flew to Dawson City for a couple days before we checked in here. The hotel also provided a shuttle for airport pick up and drop off (at 4:30 am). And the front desk staff obliged us by taking our photo with the Mountie and moose head in the lobby. The hotel location is quite central, but very quiet. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, and the bed was luxurious. Our only complaint was only being able to use it for half the night, due to our early morning flight.

"Overnight stay passing through."
Lyle M, 16 Septembre 2018

Nice clean hotel, upgraded to 2 room executive sweet and the front end staff were very nice and friendly! Close to downtown amenities and restaurants which made the stay easier as it was walking distance to get to everything!

"Traveling Through - Excellent Place to Stay"
Lynne U, 11 Septembre 2018

We had a great experience at this hotel. Nice clean rooms, comfortable beds, etc.. Right in downtown, so easy to walk to Antoinette's for dinner. Excellent blues band playing in the bar the evening we were there. Skip the coffee in the room (quite horrifying) and walk a couple blocks to Starbucks.

"Overnight stay"
MRTripper_12, 09 Septembre 2018

We stayed at the Best Western and were upgraded which was wonderful since we are celebrating 50 years married. The room was terrific. Breakfast is not included and is a bit pricey for what you get but all in all, terrific stay. We are staying at Best Western on our way back through Whitehorse.

"Nice hotel, shame about the noise"
Faience44, 19 Août 2018

This is a well-located hotel with nice rooms, comfortable beds, good service and helpful staff. But if you are after sleep quality, you might want to think about staying elsewhere. We were in the most expensive room, a two bedroom ground floor suite facing the back, and had a tough time sleeping. The walls and floors are very thin and the lack of insulation means you can hear everything in adjoining rooms. Here was our experience: Night one - couple in room above get up at 3.30 am and crash around for an hour. Garbage truck turns up at 6 am on the small service road at the back of the hotel. Night two - baby in room above starts crying at 5.15 am Night three - garbage truck turns up at 5.20 am Night four - fuel delivery truck arrives outside room at 5.50 and makes a huge noise for 10 minutes. My only advice is, stay on the top floor and ask for a room facing the main street.

"Great location!"
Kristine Q, 13 Août 2018

The location is near everything you need. With decent options fo restaurants around the area. Near souvenir shops and bank. Other hotels are located. Near Starbucks and Tim Horton's. Friendly staff. 2 queen bed rooms have lots of room. The bathrooms have soap, shampoo, conditioner, dispensers but also have small bottles by the sink.

"Friendly, helpful staff"
truecolors2018, 25 Juillet 2018

It was a treat to have such great customer service at a very busy time of year. Easy check in and convenient pre-check out along with shuttle service from the airport, I highly recommend the Best Western Gold Rush Inn!

"Terrible"
Carol S, 25 Juillet 2018

The night of July 15 while staying in this hotel we had a scary experience. We came back from dinner at about 10 pm. We noticed a burning smell upon entering, I reported to the front desk and was told that something must have burned in the kitchen. An hour later our third floor hallway was filled with smoke and the fire alarm went off. The hotel was evacuated. There was a fire in the laundry room. We can't understand why it wasn't investigated earlier. No was hurt luckily, this could have been really bad. We will never stay at a Best Western again. A week ago I reported this incident to your head office and was told that someone from the hotel would get in touch with me. I have heard nothing.

"PLACE TO STAY IN WHITEHORSE YUKON"
Shirlee m, 23 Juillet 2018

Even though this is an older hotel, the rooms were very large, clean. There is a bar underneath some of the rooms and the bar has live bands on the weekends so i would request a room away from that as those can be a bit noisy. our room was great. the restaurant we only eat breakfast but it was very good and reasonable price.

"Terrible!"
tammylbruce76, 23 Juillet 2018

I don't know where to begin. The front desk staff will overload you with information. Some of it is good, some is useless. Get their periodical they hand out and peruse it yourself. You'll save yourself a headache trying to figure everything out yourself. Ignore their recommendation of going to G&P. That place is terrible no matter how often they recommend it in the same set of sentences. The layout of the hotel is scattered and only has one main elevator to take you up and down from the main floor, thought here is another if you can walk stairs. Not conducive if you have young children or are unable to climb many stairs. Don't use the laundry facilities. The washer is ok, but the dryer is useless. I wound up giving up and having to hang my clothes to dry. The bathtub had a ring of film around it so if I were looking to sit in some warm water to relax because there's no relaxation facilities that don't cost ridiculous extra amounts, I couldn't do it. The weight and exercise room is cold. The ventilation in the room wouldn't regulate and 3 of us caught colds. The beds are rock hard and I wound up with back spasms all night. The noise from people walking around in the room above us was not only annoying but loud. If you are weary and have children, the saloon attached to the hotel might be ok, but you can't take your children in - no minors allowed. Either take a short walk or take your Vance's trying to find parking along Main Street. Speaking of parking, Best a western parking lot is don't the way and around the corner. In no way is anything about this hotel or it's facilities convenient. There is much more to this hotel to look out for before you choose to book, but I just cannot recommend this hotel if you have children or are older. If you are unconcerned about the cleanliness for the price, if noise doesn't bother you, if you like your beds rock hard, if you like scavenger hunts through the building, and if you aren't completely exhausted when you get there, then this place is for you. It is in a good location. I guess if I had to say something good, location is it. Otherwise: AVOID!!

"Above and Beyond"
Angus_English, 11 Juillet 2018

When I showed up at the Goldrush with what turned out to be no reservation as a result of a technological glitch and they had no rooms available the front desk staff called all over town to other hotels and even B&Bs to try to find me a room. When that failed to produce a result they offered to allow me to stay in their lobby where I could wait for a room (there was an early - 3 am checkout of other guests). They truly went above and beyond.

"Terrible stay!"
Lindsey P, 02 Juillet 2018

I was in town traveling for business, and the room smelled terribly of pet odor. The room was right above the bar saloon area, therefore barely slept. The shower still had pubic hair in the bathtub. I was very disappointed- especially given the amount of the hotel. It was very outdated, the floors seemed as though they were going to cave in. I definitely would not recommend this hotel.

"Nice historic hotel"
Laterisers, 24 Juin 2018

Very nice place to stay, being in an edge of town we found it very quiet, yet close enough to walk to a couple of nice restaurants. Room had a small refrigerator and air conditioning, both nice having driven from Alaska and not finding either standard in rooms. With uneven halls and the elevator that looks like the front of a safe, a historic milepost in the lobby, a fun quirky place to stay.

"Whitehorse"
lspoden1, 31 Mai 2018

Very nice hotel, excellent staff. Location was perfect. Wish that we had more time to spend in area and at this hotel. the staff went out of their way to do whatever they could to please, both on arrival and departure.

"Good Enough"
Will R, 24 Mai 2018

This hotel is showing its age, and the floor plan is confusing. The rooms have some newer features, but bones of the building are showing their age. The carpets could be cleaner. Whitehorse needs a new, comfortable hotel.

"We were in Whitehorse for the Firefit competition"
Emma-Llew B, 24 Mai 2018

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. Restaurant food was good. Location was great for us.Free shuttle from the airport. We really liked the town and enjoyed doing some of the walking paths. The venue for the Firefit Competition was excellent.

"Nice Comfortable Stay"
AlaskaJim, 24 Mai 2018

Had a quick stopover in Whitehorse on the way home to Faitbanks. Got the Gold Rush Inn on an Express Deal but very happy with the hotel. Location is perfect - right downtown. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. They appeared to be recently updated. Check in was a pleasure. The front desk staff were fantastic. Only complaints are the parking and noise level. Parking is a fair ways away and there was limited metered street parking for check in. It was cold, drizzling and the wind was blowing so it would of been nice to be a little closer. Thevrooms are not that well insulated and we could easily here the guests above us talking and walking around. We would definitely stay there again (after looking around town I am pretty confident this is the best you can do) but would request a top floor room.

"Second Stay."
DonCarlos001, 22 Mai 2018

This was our second stay at the Gold Rush Inn, and it was excellent. We were in a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen which was awesome. It is evident that the hotel is not new, but it is well maintained and very very clean. The only thing I could ask for in our room would have been better blackout curtains. If we are in Whitehorse again, we will not think twice about staying at the Gold Rush Inn.

"Read the review."
Noel E, 21 Mai 2018

check-in and check-out was kinda slow. the clerk was friendly with a "bubbly" personality. the room was large with a feint smell of cigarette smoke but at time not enough to complain about.room was clean and the television worked fine. WiFi was fine. shower was warm with plenty of pressure. after walking around town i came back to the room and took a short nap. at this time i really started to smell the cigarette odder and went down stairs and asked if i may had been assigned to smoking room. i was told there is no smoking in any room in Canada and i had the new clerk put a note that there was a smell of it so i wouldn't be charged for the odder. watched some TV and went to sleep. when i woke in the morning my scalp was itching like it used to when i went to a bar that permitted smoking, my clothes smelled of smoke. i quickly showered and left. i informed the clerk of the despicable cigarette smell in the room and i left. i have yet to hear from the management of this motel even though i asked to be called by the general manager who wasn't scheduled to arrive at work for an another hour the day i departed. as for the parking lot, very small, dirt/paved lot with no lines and cars parked everywhere and anyway they wanted. i'm planning on driving through Whitehorse in a few days but i will NOT be staying at this establishment.

"Great stay"
Brad K, 18 Mai 2018

The staff were great. They greeted you everytime you came in or left. The room was comfortable and very clean. The hotel is located downtown which is conveniently located to some great shop's and restaurants. Will stay they again

"A great hotel to get maximum done in minimum time while in Whitehorse!"
befarkes, 01 Mai 2018

This hotel's central, downtown location and amenities make it the perfect spot for a visit (short or long) to Whitehorse. I spent three nights there at the end of March 2018. Rooms are very comfortable, even when the morning temperature is -26C! There are plenty of good places to eat, even in just a three-block radius, including the hotel's own adjoining spot: The Gold Pan Saloon (good breakfasts between $10 and $18 and great serving staff). Most places of interest in the city either are within reasonable walking distance or within the range of a quick taxi or bus trip. For those with a rental vehicle or who bring their own car or truck, the free hotel parking can't be beat. For nature lovers, if you want to take guided nature tours, such as aurora borealis (northern lights) viewing at night (which I did) and dogsledding during the day, I highly recommend Northern Tales Travel Services Inc., whose offices are located in the hotel itself.

"Excellent Long-Term Stay!!!"
darrenl0cke, 01 Mai 2018

I stayed at the Best Western Gold Rush Inn from April 20th - 26th and had an excellent stay. Friendly, helpful staff, very good hotel facilities, close to downtown shopping and conveniences, and very good meals in the restaurant.

"Business trip to Whitehorse"
kidtripping, 29 Avril 2018

When I visit Whitehorse I always try to stay here. It's the best hotel in Whitehorse. They got better this time hotel is the same but they turned customer service up a notch. Great desk staff and friendly cleaning staff. Will be back

"Great spot!"
jordanmferris, 29 Avril 2018

Stayed overnight in Whitehorse on our way back to Alaska. Couldn't have asked for a nicer place. The staff is friendly, room was clean & comfortable. Restaurant next door is wonderful! Loved our stay!

"Very comfortable stay"
labommba, 08 Avril 2018

Very comfortable stay in Whitehorse, close to most shops and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and tried to answer all our questions. Hotel has ample of complinentary guest parking. Decent restaurant/bar (Gold Pan Saloon) connected to hotel. Very comfortable beds - slept like a baby!

"A very serviceable hotel, centrally located"
JeCCo87, 25 Mars 2018

A hotel that does the basics right - and in Whitehorse, that's all you need. Adequate heating and close by to main street. The hotel has an unpretentious and workmanlike feel. Rooms are large enough for travelers to store their many layers of protective clothing and importantly water pressure in the showers is good. The Gold Pan Saloon bar is connected indoors and offers great local food and beers at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and helpful and have a service oriented outlook. The is a tour agency embedded in the hotel so it's convenient to book tours and activities. The lift is a bit slow, so it was far easier and faster to walk up the fire stairs next to the reception to our room which wasn't an issue at all.

"Great place to stay "
User, 18 Mars 2018

This is a lovely friendly place to stay. We recommend it and will stay there again when visiting family. It has all the services you need including Wi-Fi, helpful staff and is at the heart of everything in this town

"What you need"
James F, 15 Mars 2018

Good basic accommodations convenient to walking around downtown and convenient to outfitters for excursions out of town. Has restaurant and bar if its too cold out. Rooms are clean and service is friendly.

"Travel agent made these accommodtions"
gowanderaround, 09 Mars 2018

The room was okay, basic and adequate. What reall bothered me was the bathroom lights. Whomever made this selection didn't use them in the middle of the night or try to put on some makeup. Once the lights were on, I thought I was in an interrogation room with white lights glaring in my eyes. They really need to fix this. Looking like a ghost from the dead, returned to put on mascara is pretty awful Location was quite good and staff helpful. The problem was possibly my travel agent as she never told me I had to pay extra for breakfast - any Best Western I stayed at prior to this, served complimentary breakfast

"Considering it's Whitehorse...."
KelownaTravelingMan, 07 Mars 2018

Have only stayed at this hotel in Whitehorse so I have no way of comparing it others. It's adequate and considering I only spend time sleeping there it suffices. May consider other hotels on future trips. The Gold Pan Saloon downstairs is neat. The elevator is painfully slow.

"The Great White North"
pitner2017, 06 Mars 2018

We found using your room card to go to correct floor great. Nice comfy room. Great water pressure and hot water for a shower. The bed was fantastic, my husband wants one. He said it is the best sleep he has had in a long time.

"Really basic!"

I stayed here for 3 nights. Good location just in Main Street, Whitehorse downtown. The rooms are clean enough and spacious. They have microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom is small but good enough. Decoration is a little bit old. The worst part for me is that they don't have a place to stay, a meeting area where you can wait 2-3 hours after check out or between one tour and another. There are 6 chairs at the Front Desk where you are cold after 5 minutes of wait as it's is front of the entrance. The business Center is a computer in the middle of the rooms corredor. There is a restaurant downstairs. It would be great if they would have a place to buy just a coffee and a pastry or a sandwich.

"Good Location"
Suryani T, 24 Février 2018

I visited Whitehorse, Yukon for 6 nights on Feb 12–18th. I stayed a total of 4 nights at Best Western Gold Rush Inn. The room is clean and well-maintained. But as expected from old building and wood flooring, noice insulation wasn't great. I could hear the television playing in the next room. Flooring would squeak when people in the next room or upper floor walked around. Anyway, I was mostly out very late on most nights for Aurora viewing so I would be so tired and just slept through. Other than the noice, it was quite a nice stay. All of the staff I've encountered were very friendly and helpful. It's also conveniently situated on Main Street, where you can find many restaurants and shops. If I were to visit Whitehorse in the future, I might stay here again for the convenient location.

"Great Location"
Bob H, 21 Février 2018

It's clean, comfortable, and in a great location. It's an older building and unless your room is on the top floor you'll hear someone else walking around late night or early morning. Get a top floor room, especially if you're going out late for Aurora viewing and hoping to sleep in a bit later in the morning.

"Convenient and Cosy"
LEE R, 20 Février 2018

My family and myself spent 4 nights at The Gold Rush Inn and found it to be very comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. It is centrally located in the heart of town so you can walk just about anywhere. The best recommendation I can suggest is to ask for a room on the top floor . The floors are wooden so footsteps and creaking can be heard above you which can be a little annoying at night. We would definitely stay there again.

"Great hotel "
yukonpeat, 19 Février 2018

Convenient, clean, comfortable. The staff here are truly remarkable. We had a hiccup the first night and Emily went above and beyond to make it right. Also the front desk supervisor ( I'm sorry I forgot your name) did a first class job. Within walking distance of a ton or bars and restaurants

"Great service"
trevors128, 12 Février 2018

Hotel prices are generally very high in Whitehorse. But the Best Western offered excellent service. It has a great gym. None of the restaurants have a continental breakfast. However, there's a great hotel restaurant that I ate at several times. Always busy, good but not great service. Excellent food. Good valve.

"Clean and convenient"
Paula M, 25 Janvier 2018

This accommodation is in a great location, short walk to the shops. As our tour company operated from here it was ideal for collection for activities etc. Most of the front desk staff were very helpful and it was greatly appreciated that there was a guest laundry. We would have appreciated knowing that we weren't allowed to eat dinner in the restaurant (cold nights after a big day…..) as we had 1 under19, but loved the 506 All Day Grill across the road. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.

"Great Location and very comfortable"
GuppyC, 23 Janvier 2018

This hotel is right in the middle of town, and is the starting place for a lot of tours, so it is extremely convenient. the adjoining restaurant was great and affordable for any meals, and they have a tour company that operates from within the hotel, making booking of extra activities very easy.

"Convenient and comfortable"
toosarmi, 08 Janvier 2018

Convenient location, right in the town. Close to restaurants, shops and attractions. This was great especially when snowing. Beds were some of the most comfortable we had stayed in on our trip through Canada.

"Yukon Hospitality"
A1157MImichaelb, 08 Janvier 2018

The hotel is a gem. Staff were warm, courteous and extremely accomodating. The room was spacious and clean. Good internet and tv. Bed was very comfortable and the room temperature was very good...despite the -40 degree weather outside. Shower was below average pressure and spray but there was plenty of hot water.

"Best stay in Whitehorse "
AussieTJ, 06 Janvier 2018

My husband and I stayed for 12 nights in a king spa suite which was huge and on the top floor overlooking Main Street in December. The staff were very friendly and always helpful I think they thought we were never going to leave hahaha. This is our second time we have stayed here we stayed back in 2015 for 8 nights and they have done some renovations since then which look great. The location of the hotel is very central and walking distance to all local shops cafe bus stops and more (we didn't walk too much it was freezing ??) We had breakfast and dinner a few times in the Gold Pan Saloon which is connected to hotel great atmosphere and great food and drinks, live music too some nights. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone ??

"Great location"
d0ndequiera, 06 Janvier 2018

We spent a couple of nights in Whitehorse before heading out for a more wilderness experience. The location of the Gold Rush is perfect if you want to see the town. All the restaurants and shops are within a few minutes walk. Plus the river, which has a great long trail for walking or running, is at the end of the street. We were here over the holidays and almost everything in town was closed, but staff went out of their way to make us enjoy out time. Rooms are big and clean.

"great experience"
S9690TWjohnc, 30 Décembre 2017

Recently stayed for 3 nights and would definitely recommend this hotel. Great location, helpful friendly staff and rooms were quite nice, quiet, comfortable and warm even though it was minus 32 outside!!! Found the hotel on one of those hotel web search engines, but got a better deal by calling them directly.

"Exactly To Expectations"
ScottC, 27 Décembre 2017

This is indicated as a 2.5 star hotel but it is a solid three. A perfect representation of a standard BW. Very comfortable beds and right downtown. A very pleasant experience after a night in a less desirable property in town. Would book here again in a blink.

"Very good Service"
kevinmrandchrisl2017, 26 Décembre 2017

The staff of the hotel was very nice, polite, and helpful. The rooms are clean and the restaurants at the hotel are easily accessible and has almost everything you would find in any restaurants. The location of the hotel was perfect as it is in the center of downtown and is within walking distance to many famous restaurants

"2 then 1 night stay December 2017"
Eric Y, 24 Décembre 2017

Stayed 2 night's initially on level 2, beds were extremely comfortable and check in was seamless, staff helpful. The major downfall and reason for a 3 rating was the 2nd floor is a nightmare re: noise from residents above on level 3. You will hear every footstep, at times I thought there was an aerobics class happening above me. It isn't just the noise the vibrations are such that it feels as though the roof may come down, very disconcerting, not to mention the disturbance to your sleep. Second stay for 1 night, which was after a 2 night stay out at another accommodation was pre our flight back to Vancouver. On that occasion we were given a 3rd floor room - far better & after our experience earlier we were mindful of how we moved around & how often. So if you stay here be sure to ask for the 3rd floor. Overall - comfortable & was also clean & well equipped with microwave, kettle + TV & WiFi.

"Neat and tidy, friendly staff, comfy beds and great amenities!"
Amanda P, 21 Décembre 2017

We stayed here as part of our Northern Tales Tour and every part of our stay was fantastic! The beds were comfy, the staff were friendly. The restaurant attached to the hotel serves a mean Bison Burger and there is a guest laundry which came in real handy!! Happy days

"Comfortable stay"
Melissa A, 21 Décembre 2017

The hotel is in a great location walking distance to everything. The staff (front desk and housekeeping) were all very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was new, the heating was a good warmth from the cold. The only bad thing was the poor wifi but I was told Whitehorse only has a single provider so the problem is common. They have a desktop with printer located outside the elevator to use though. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Don't expect to get any last minute day spa or hair salon bookings in Whitehorse mid December as it all books out quickly but nothing to do with the hotel, one of the day spas is located in the hotel.

"Lovely Rooms and Staff"
24bethanw, 19 Décembre 2017

Received an Executive upgrade as a Diamond Member. Nice view and bedding and jetted hot tub. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Lounge is rustic - good entertainment selections during the week. Food fare selection is good. Nachos were cooked flat but tasty.

"Another good stay, but noise still an issue"
Justine28, 19 Décembre 2017

Stayed here recently while in Whitehorse on a business trip. Had 6 nights in a room on 2nd floor facing the back of the hotel/ RCMP. Overall had a good stay here with just one night of noise disturbance. The check in and out were a breeze and a pleasure. The staff throughout the hotel and the restaurant were very pleasant and accommodating. The room, same as the hotel, was showing signs of aging, but was actually very comfortable and clean. Important to know they have microwaves and mini fridges in the room (though no cutlery, plates), so it is easy enough to prepare some simple meals (i.e. a bowl of oatmeal) etc. As mentioned, I was lucky enough to have just one sleepless night when someone above me was walking/ moving in their room most of the night (blaming the aurora tourists!). Thanks to the building's age or perhaps structure, it sounded like there was an elephant above me, made it very difficult to get any sleep. For the record, I did bring this up in their survey and they were very prompt in responding. If you want to avoid the noise, do ask for a top floor room that's facing the back of the hotel.

"excellent hotel in Whitehorse"
kennychen1997, 17 Décembre 2017

The hotel reservations department was extremely helpful in answering questions and request by email prior to making any reservations. The hotel offers excellent location, good and spacious rooms, great front desk staff, easy to arrange local tours and pick up. internet services available on each floor works well to enable on line air line check in. In hotel restaurant offers reasonably price meals. will definitely book same hotel next time or recommend to anyone visiting Whitehorse.

"Great as usual"
JohninBC, 11 Décembre 2017

This is as good as it gets in Whitehorse. Friendly, helpful and efficient front desk staff. The rooms are well maintained, and the property as a whole is clean. The bar/restaurant is good. A rotating tap would change up the draft beer selection. The food is typical bar fare. I highly recommend the hotel.

"Decent stay in Whitehorse"
A6338AKandrewc, 09 Décembre 2017

This hotel has a god location being downtown and within walking distance to most places. As far as hotels go it is average but is reflective of what is available in Whitehorse. Prices are high overall in Whitehorse so value for money is ok compared to other locations but good for Whitehorse.

"Whitehorse Beat Western Weekend"
GeoffGoodman, 04 Décembre 2017

Enjoyed the stay, bed was very comfortable. Hotel was the perfect spot to stay in downtown Whitehorse. Cool old west atmosphere, bit of history in the lobby and the onsite saloon. Could see how the hotel might have been back in the late 1800's.

"Hotel Good Lounge Bad"
mattmH1129RG, 04 Décembre 2017

the hotel is what you would expect nice place the house cleaning woke me up at 8am to clean my room not impressed don't waste your time in the lounge I sat for 20 min with no service not a beer nothing watching the staff eat food from the kitchen and joke around

"Excellent Location"
taramC5528KJ, 02 Décembre 2017

The only issue was some loud music one night. Not so loud that it interupted you but loud enough you could always feel or hear it. Tv does have enough channels. I expect more then basic cable in a hotel

"Fantastic Hotel - BW Gold Rush Inn"
285felipee, 02 Décembre 2017

This hotel was so clean and well served by excellent staff. From check in to check out, most staff cares and shows professionalism in their job. This hotel provides greater value for your money. The location was ideal,as it was at downtown core. Looking to be back again. Great job, BW!

"Warm Greeting during a freezing encounter"
haunter2017, 01 Décembre 2017

The reception at the hotel was very warm and courteous, while outside temperature was hovering around -23. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, spacious, and up to date. The restaurant had a great menu, and the food served was first rate and delicious. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

"Overrated"
gbenito2017, 28 Novembre 2017

Rooms not ready for check in, small rooms, small bathrooms. Evening employees not very kind. Location at Main Street, one of the main travel agency is located in their facility, main reason for them to recommend it

"Finally found a good hotel in Whitehorse"
shannondI6066MK, 15 Novembre 2017

I wish I had tried the Best Western Gold Rush Inn sooner. After numerous expensive, unsatisfactory stays in comparably priced hotels in Whitehorse, I had given up hope of finding a comfortable, clean, pleasant place to stay there. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Best Western deluxe double room I stayed in spacious, clean, tasteful, comfortable, quiet, and with everything in working order. My one complaint is that the room was too hot, and I was forced to use air conditioning in November, when the temperature outside was -20C. This is a common problem with hotels in Whitehorse, but it was better than the last hotel I stayed at in Whitehorse, where I had to sleep with the window open in similar weather! Overall I was very pleased with my stay and will return the next time I am in Whitehorse, which is fairly often.

"Rough, a little cold… totally awesome"
Armando L, 14 Novembre 2017

I spent a weekend in the Whitehorse, to see the departure of the Yukon Quest and the Best Western was an ideal place for me, since I needed a lot of protection in low temperatures. Service were good and a proper environment help me to feel the North :-)

"Clean, large rooms and extremely comfortable bed"
B9577ZYjennifera, 01 Novembre 2017

Had a very comfortable stay but the plumbing in the bathroom wasn't what I was used to at home. Not sure if it was because of the style of the toilet , but it always seemed on the verge of plugging - it did plug once and they unplugged it right away but the toilet really didn't seem to clear the bowl very well. The shower was also a bit of a weak point as the pressure was low and the pipes in the walls gave off an intense whining sound if the shower was turned on. It was pretty unpleasant first thing in the morning so opted for a bath. Other than that, the hotel was very comfortable. Really enjoyed the fitness facilities and having such a spacious room.

"The Whitehorse Best Western Gold Rush"
Margo D, 31 Octobre 2017

Great hotel in downtown Whitehorse. The building is beautifully decorated in the gold rush theme. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Whitehorse and surrounding areas are eye candy for landscape photographers. I am looking forward to going there again!

"Gold Rush Inn"
michaellR1671PE, 23 Octobre 2017

Average for Whitehorse but preferable to competition. Nice it takes dogs. Rooms clean, everything mediocre, staff not very interested, just a job. Friendly and polite but not much in the way of customer service and attitude.

"Good place to stay"
Olya S, 19 Octobre 2017

It has a good restaurant. The room is spacious, bathroom is clean and nice. Corresponds to the pictures people added in previous reviews. Location is very nice, just a short walk takes you to the river.

"Friendly approach to pets"
petercO6455GD, 16 Octobre 2017

Nice hotel, although a bit pricey. We appreciated the approach this hotel took to our small dog. They require a $100 deposit for damage which is not charged if there is no damage. Other BWs we have stayed at only have 1 pet room and once that is booked, they are not so pet friendly.

"A delightful stay"
Hugh P, 14 Octobre 2017

The management and staff make my Whitehorse stay at the BW Gold Rush the highlight of my visit. The Main Street location puts me in immediate proximity with my clients, and I have never been disappointed when dining in the Gold Pan.

"Always a good stay!"
KimmyK09, 02 Octobre 2017

We always stay at the Gold Rush Inn when in Whitehorse. Centrally located. The guest rooms are always very clean, bed is really comfy and front desk staff very helpful. The hotel is basic from a BW standpoint but never disappoints. It is an older building but management seems to take the steps needed to update as much as possible. Be aware that wifi is often an issue. Would recommend this as the place to stay in Whitehorse.

"Frontier Town Flavour"
Larry D, 02 Octobre 2017

This hotel is decked inside and out in a frontier town theme in tasteful ways. The lobby features a life-size Mountie, a six-point moose head, and an elevator door painted to look like a prospector's safe. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facility itself seems to be an older building with surface updates. The colour schemes match those of newer places, but the floors are uneven in places, the walls are not so sound proof, and corridors and stairwells are quite narrow. I did enjoy my experience of staying here because of the staff, including the fresh pot of coffee that was already available when I had to check out to catch a 6:00 AM flight.

"Poor Service"
Darren W, 01 Octobre 2017

Upon arriving from Australia for a family holiday to see the Northern Lights, we provided written documentation from Flight Centre and had paid in full for 2 rooms. Due to an error from one of the third parties they had told us that we only have one room booked. After many emails back and forth spending most of our first day trying to fix a problem which was not created by us we were finally given access to our room at 10pm. The staff were doing their best but it was clearly poor management not empowering employees to honour a written agreement with one of the largest travel companies worldwide. No compensation was offered and Best Western showed no responsibility even though they create these relationships with these wholesalers. If anyone in management would like to discuss this issue further

"Simple but Nice"
Matt or Jen R, 01 Octobre 2017

We stayed for three nights. The room was clean and spacious. We called ahead as we were traveling with a baby, there was a playpen waiting in the room for us. All the stuff were very friendly. We were staying in a dog friendly room and we were near an outside exit which was very convenient. Apparently they give little treat bags out for the guests with dogs but we didn't get one. Likely because we had someone training checking us in. Overall a nice stay.

"Above & Beyond"
User, 27 Septembre 2017

Stayed here on the way to Fairbanks with my 2 dogs. Was driving a 29' U-Haul with a car trailer, so was concerned about parking. I pulled over in front of hotel, trying to find a spot when the gentleman behind the desk came outside, crossed the street to help me in finding a spot. He was very helpful and I was able to park very close to the entrance. I appreciated the extra effort to assist a guest. The place is very pet-friendly too. Even had a couple of goody bags for them. Nice touch.

"Great Stay in a convenient Location."
jlrmp, 26 Septembre 2017

The staff at this hotel go out of their way to help you, they are friendly yet professional. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant attached to the hotel also gave good service, and the food was tasty.

"Amazing Hotel"
Andrea L, 26 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for 1 night, and the staff was really nice, the room was clean and we were able to stay with our 2 dogs. We got a goody bag for the dogs with treats and poop bags. There is a fenced dog park a block from the hotel which was amazing. They also have a sports bar with amazing food and drinks. They also had live music.

"Good place"
thon, 26 Septembre 2017

Stayed a couple nights here recently. Had a large handicapped room (for some reason) on the 4th floor overlooking the street with a large bathroom. Room was across from the elevator but never heard any noise. The bed was quite comfortable and room had a fridge and microwave. The only negative thing was that the light in the bathroom was over the mirror and with the shower curtain closed, the tub was quite dark, since the bathroom was so large. Had breakfast here a few times and the food was good. We didn't eat any other meals however. If we returned to Whitehorse this would be our first choice for a hotel again.

"Poor Treatment"
rebeccalT1894PC, 21 Septembre 2017

Do not decide to stay in this hotel. The staff made a mistake with my reservation and made me and my family sit in the lobby while they came up with the brilliant plan to put three adults in a room with one bed and a uncomfortable cot. I slept on the cot, my sister slept in a chair and my dad slept on the bed. They treated us like the error was our problem and they were rude and unhelpful. We finally got into our room which we where guaranteed was huge and the cot did not fit, we had to move the furniture ourselves. The bedding on the cot was not fresh bedding even. I stay in hotels all the time in Canada and I can tell you that the only great thing about this hotel was the restaurant.

"Well priced, clean and well appointed"
511hazelf, 12 Septembre 2017

Situated in centre of town with shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel is clean and well appointed with very comfortable beds and is quiet at night. Restaurant in hotel provides good pub fare at reasonable prices All staff are friendly and efficient.

"Good location."
BuffaloLake, 11 Septembre 2017

The hotel is tight downtown so you can wall to a number of museums, etc. Parking close by. Summer at the front desk was so helpful - it was hot and no AC so she waived the pet fee. The bar was down stairs so some late night noise and smoking so pick a room not facing the street.

"Noisy rooms"
Lisa W, 09 Septembre 2017

This hotel has very thin walls. And there is also a bar with live music which is great, except that our room was very close to it. When I complained about the noise I was told that if I come again I should ask for a quiet room. Central location though and the rooms are fairly standard and clean. But the noise really ruined our experience.

"Very nice room "
Neverpassupafreemeal, 09 Septembre 2017

Was a very nice stay here and would recommend it for sure. Would have been nice if the parking lot was a bit nicer but it was ok ad they are doing renovations I think, Eating in the bar wasn't the best but not the worst either, prefer restaurants without drunks but it could have been worse.

"Good hotel"
Barbara d, 07 Septembre 2017

Our tour group stayed here for 2 nights. Our rooms weren't ready when we arrived, so they brought us to a conference room and gave us drinks until rooms ready, checking in with us often. rooms clean and comfortable, there are elevators, you do have to use your room key to make them work. We ate breakfast here twice, supper once, and I had a lunch here also. breakfast was good, supper a bit disappointing, there was salmon, but didn't seem to be fresh caught, roast beef was good and very generous, overall, fine. hotel is in good location, I would recommend.

"Goldrush"
shmily214, 07 Septembre 2017

Unique hotel close to down town Whitehorse great staff enjoy staying here Beds are super comfortable Bar area and breakfast are really nice the hotel has done some renovations in this area it is a lot nicer than before

"Good hotel"
PSDPSD2014, 06 Septembre 2017

It was a standard best western minus the breakfast. We had a nice room with a jetted tub. The tub was not in the washroom but in the room like some old hotels have. Overall the hotel isnt fancy but it has the charm of days past! It was clean and tidy and the staff were helpful. We had to check out a day earlier- which they were very understanding about.

"Gold Rush Inn"
M5715BCbobg, 06 Septembre 2017

We found the rooms very comfortable, the staff were helpful around the clock. Checking in and out was easy. Shuttle service on time and courteous. The restaurant was clean, the staff friendly and efficient and the food was good.

"Don't pick a room next to the elevator!"
MPR1967, 31 Août 2017

We had a spacious superior room overlooking on the street ... very nice. Until we realized when it was bed time that the clunky noises didn't come from someone running their jet tub but came from the old elevator. Needed ear plugs and definitely no sleeping in when people are frequently making use of the elevator early morning. We asked for a breakfast voucher and the reception gladly offered one. We appreciated that. The hotel is well located and has a feel of the old west. Breakfast at their restaurant was good and generous but slow service, which seems to be a thing in Whitehorse!

"Great Staff"
gordonp776, 31 Août 2017

Staff were positive, energetic, fast, efficient, courteous and more than made up for the state of renovations ongoing in the lobby. Room was very very large, clean, bright, nicely decorated, well furnished, with nicely updated bathroom. I had limited time to sleep but the quality of sleep afforded was excellent and carried me through the long day ahead.

"Excellent staff."
RoadMaestro, 29 Août 2017

The staff at this hotel could not have been more helpful. I actually made a serious error on my reservation which was completely my fault. They took care of everything with complete courtesy and professionalism. It's nice to find people who really go out of their way and take care of customers. I would definitely come back to great service.

"Noisy room"
Guy S, 29 Août 2017

Very think walls and ceiling, can hear what people are thinking in room next to and above. Key to room failed several times a day and staff didn't care and took along time to be seen at reception. location in town is good.

"Great service"
ernestm317, 22 Août 2017

The service was superb. The room is large and well furnished. We were on the fourth floor, room 430 overlooking Main Street. A large TV screen and a very adequate bathroom. Do not be fooled by the external appearance of the hotel as it is clean inside. At the counter we felt that the service was run by student trainees, but they did their job very well. We stayed twice a few days apart and without asking we got the same room, which was very much appreciated. We recommend it to tourists visiting Whitehorse. Definitely we will go back there on our next visit to the Yukon.

"Some good, some bad"
Ted B, 20 Août 2017

Hotel staff were very helpful. The restaurant/bar had a good menu with tasty food. Breakfast was not included with my stay. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The in-wall air conditioner was completely blocked when the drapes are closed and therefore was almost useless during the night and morning to keep the room cool. Water pressure and water temperature were good, but the shower head was so bad you might as well be standing under a restricted garden hose. at $160 US a night I expected more.

"Yukon Gold!"
SkypeDaddy, 13 Août 2017

Whitehorse has a real frontier feel to it and your expectations generally need to be adjusted accordingly, no adjustment is necessary for this hotel! Reception staff were awesome, I watched them deal with the most impossible group of tourists who were harassing the staff with a litany of nonsensical issues and the staff never lost their cool, courteous to a fault. In spite of not having a reservation and Whitehorse being sold out on a busy summer weekend, Remi (kind reception lady) worked magic to find me a room. The hotel is absolutely charming and the rooms are delightful, comfortable, modern and clean. The experience was sublime and we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality.

"Great Hotel"
michaeleU7935VT, 10 Août 2017

The Staff was amazing and consistently went above and beyond. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Not the fanciest place I have ever stayed at but with the staff and the location, it was really was a great part of my trip.

"Downtown comfort"
KlondikeVisitorsAssc, 07 Août 2017

Enjoyed my stay at the Gold Rush Inn, staff very friendly and helpful. rooms are very comfortable. Located downtown on Main Street with good parking. Walking distance to great niche shops and the waterfront park.

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn is a Satisfactory Hotel"
bibi569, 06 Août 2017

There is nothing special about this hotel, but the rooms are clean and maintained. Location-wise, it's not great. Our room had views only of the parking lot, and the room was incredibly hot and there was noise from the construction going on. Basically, this hotel is okay as a base to explore Whitehorse, but not a place to spend much time in.

"Unique lobby"
David S, 05 Août 2017

When you step inside the hotel you know that you are for a unique stay. The rooms are modern, but don't expect air conditioning for all rooms. Children under 19 can't be in hotel restaurant after 11 AM. Worth the stay.

"Great location"
ChinaGal_57, 04 Août 2017

I would give this place a five star rating if they included breakfast but they do not in spite of having an on-site restaurant. This place is already expensive enough. So I will go into town and spend my money. The bed is super comfy and room has all amenities. It is very quiet on the third floor. The best thing about the place is the location, it is very walking friendly with a gorgeous riverside walking path just 4 blocks away. There are ample restaurants also and I would recommend the Klondike rib. It is spendy but worth it and service is great.

"A great place in Whitehorse "
User, 02 Août 2017

Stopped for the night with a small bus load of midwesterners. We thought it was a fun stop. There's a nice place to sleep, a friendly lounge and access to all that Whitehorse has to offer. The staff was helpful and accommodating. Thumbs up!

"Downtown Whitehorse"
Pauline P, 30 Juillet 2017

This is a great place to stay for business. It is close to everything including restaurants, offices and yet still a good nights sleep. Rooms are large and include a desk to work. I will stay here again.

"Awesome!"
sheilac611, 28 Juillet 2017

excellent services...employee staff, awesome food...awesome entertainment in your Gold Pan Saloon. I would recommend your establishment to my family and friends throughout the Yukon and Canada. I couldn't ask for anything more excellent service and hospitality.

"First trip to Yukon"
Anne T, 27 Juillet 2017

Great location, friendly staff, especially reception and helpful. Rooms clean and bathrooms have everything you need. Easy to walk to local restaurants, and down to the riverside of the Yukon. Walks around town, riverside trail, SS Klondike etc.Did have buildrs doing front near our bedroom but we were up at 9am, anyway. Corridors looked a little tired and can be a little noisy with rooms above etc. Airport transfers were available although we had hire car, but free parking available.

"Pleasant hotel stay"
anthalynnec, 16 Juillet 2017

The staff was very friendly-- Room was a bit warm and there was no air conditioning. But the window opened easy and there was a fan. We had a dog with us and was very pet friendly. Not sure I can get the 200 miniumum characters to make this post..

"close to uptown and the Yukon River"
hmtimko, 15 Juillet 2017

We had a room facing the street, but it was not noisy at all. We chose to have a window open and it was nice to have a breeze come in. They are under outside construction changing the clolour of the siding but we were not there to hear them. The room was large and comfortable and clean. The staff were attentive and helpful when asked questions.

"Decent hotel. "
Daniel M, 13 Juillet 2017

When we arrived after a long flight at 12 our room wasn't ready. They said they would but a rush on it and that was perfectly fine. We checked back at 1:30 and it still wasn't ready. We checked again at 2:45 and it still wasn't ready. Finally it was ready when we returned at 3:30. The room is regular, clean and efficient with not much of a view. The office staff were friendly and quite international. The exercise room is well equipped and features two tv's you can watch. The location is excellent as you are in the centre of everything. We would stay there again but the price was a little bit more than your typical Best Western.

"No wakeup call"
Andrew G, 11 Juillet 2017

Neither I nor my work partner in another room got a wakeup call early in the morning. This is very important if you have a 5AM shuttle to the airport. Fortunately we each had backup devices. The clerk at the front desk was well meaning but his excuse was weak. This small detail is an important responsibility for hotel staff. I stay in many hotels and most staff get this right.

"It's a hotel!"
meganelizabethmw, 10 Juillet 2017

The selling points for this hotel is the fact that it's near all the tourist-y shopping. It has some cool Gold Rush tourist stuff inside the hotel too which is nice. The rooms are average Best Western Rooms, nothing about them is going to blow you away but they're also not going to wow you. When I stayed it was undergoing construction and I had construction directly outside the window to the room. I can't comment on the view because I didn't feel comfortable enough to have my curtains open.

"Central location, slightly claustrophobic feeling"
LLee55, 09 Juillet 2017

The hotel is very near to all the shops in Whitehorse, which is a pretty small town, but since the weather can be very cold, it helps to be as as close as possible. Due to the small footprint of the hotel, the corridors, room and public areas are cosy or claustophobic depending on your liking for small spaces. However, it's all very well-maintained and clean. Heating was also adequate and the room has all the amenities. Hotel staff is alert and well-trained (mostly Japanese, due to the number of Japanese tourists staying here). You won't regret staying here, unless you need a spacious room.

"Good but not worth $200.00 a night"
dragonlady56, 09 Juillet 2017

I was on the 3rd floor, the guest printer did not work the both times I was there (I reported on the first time I stayed that it did not work) and when I came back it still did not work. On my second stay I found cheezies on the floor by the bed so the room had not been vacuumed and a 1/4 inch red bead in my bed so the sheets had not been changed either!!!

"YRQ"
colleenbX9242DU, 05 Juillet 2017

We stayed there before and after the Riverquest race. Staff were extremely helpful. Rooms are updated and very comfortable. I will stay there again when in Whitehorse. The lobby decor brings in some of the area's history and had contained interesting artifacts.

"Very comfortable"
Patrick C, 03 Juillet 2017

Very happy with the choice to stay here. Room was clean, spacious, and well appointed. Staff were very friendly. Location is good for easy walking around town. The wifi was very strong with all our devices. Without a/c it got a little warm, but the portable fan provided made it not that big of a deal. Highly recommend.

"Large rooms and in central location"
Neil91, 30 Juin 2017

We were in this hotel for just a night.Check-in was smooth but when we went in our room there was someone in it, which was very embarrassing. On bringing this to the staff's attention, we were upgraded to a large jacuzzi room on the top floor. The hotel is located centrally with plenty of parking. A great pub is on site serving good food and alcohol. Many restaurants and groceries are just a short walk away and the city streets are easy to navigate! I would definitely recommend it.

"Pleasant Stay"
geraldsJ433VU, 30 Juin 2017

Had read some bad reviews of the Gold Rush before booking there. As we had lived in Whitehorse for 17 years knew that this hotel was considered a premium hotel for the Yukon. We enjoyed our stay at the Gold Rush. Front Desk staff and housekeeping were very helpful when we needed assistance. The hotel is located at the end of Main Street so is within walking distance of the main attractions on Main Street and area. The restaurant and lounge are combined but food and service was good. Parking was not an issue for us even though their lot is small. Would stay here again if need be.

"huge rooms, central location - but problably not renovated since the gold rush"
canadianamigos, 29 Juin 2017

I liked the feel of the place. The front desk staff was friendly. The bar/restaurant was hopping. it's easy to walk through the whole town from there. The room we had was huge - large sitting area. Easily double the size of a conventional BW room. The décor and the tech needs a little attention. It's going through renos right now - so I'm sure it'll be nicer soon. For the north, one of the best places I've stayed in.

"Mixed bag"
chewat, 28 Juin 2017

This hotel is fairly dated. It is being renovated but still needs work. It is central, the rooms are large and beds comfortable but the air conditioning is weird and ineffective. The first night ours would not turn on at all so we opened a window which was noisy. I reported it that first evening about 5pm and was told they would look at it tomorrow (not helpful). They did and it worked but it was under then window so when you close the curtains, rather necessary in the summer, they covered the unit so we had cool curtains and we got hot - stupid! The one lift is old and very slow. It is good to have a guest laundry. There were not enough staff at the front desk which required a long wait to be attended to and when a bunch of extraordinarily rude Americans in a tour group decided to make a nuisence of themselves the poor girl was overwhelmed and received no support. We just gave up trying to get assistance and went away. A restaurant which claims to have won an award in 2008 and is still displaying it clearly needs to be avoided - we did.

"Great home base"
annebX9646CW, 26 Juin 2017

Clean, friendly and in the heart of Whitehorse, this was an ideal place to stay for our trip to the Yukon. The hotel was very comfortable with large comfy queen beds in our room and a great shower and room darkening blinds. Both the beds and shower were appreciated after the long hikes we took around Whitehorse.

"Should Have Been a Better Stay"
L6800TKbrianb, 26 Juin 2017

This Best Western gave us not an especially bad experience, but it should have been better. Calling the room after an hour or two to ask if everything was fine was weird and slightly suspicious. The confused response to my statement about the (recently installed) toilet not being well anchored to the floor [it wobbled when you sat on it] should probably have included some kind of action, such as: offering a better room, a discount on the room price, a voucher to the lounge... something other than merely apologizing that the maintenance staff was gone for the day. The room was clean and well furnished, if dated and not the most attractive. The two elevators were odd. The first required a room key card to operate and only went to the 3rd floor. The second on the 2nd floor, available by following a ramp up and around the first elevator, required no key and went to the top, 4th floor. Not a big problem, but odd. It's an older building, the walls and floors thin with more sound floating through them than we would have liked. Also, the window curtains didn't filter out quite enough light, especially on the eve of summer solstice. These two factors led to a night of poor sleep before getting up at 3:45am for an early flight.

"Good location, average stay"
cantravellor, 25 Juin 2017

We stayed for 4 nights in June. Check in was quick but elevator was broken so we had to use a roundabout way to get to our room on 4th floor. It was fixed by the next day so no issues. At the moment, there is a renovation going on so part of the hotel wasn't available for rent. This resulted in the hotel being fully booked. Our room was big, spacious and clean. It also had a nice view of the city. We were initially worried that it would be loud because it was right across from elevator (and I mean literally across from the elevator door) but it actually wasn't too bad. We probably heard more noise from outside our window. The bed was comfortable but the pillows too large and hard. Excellent cleaning staff and front desk service. We used the weight room and it was great. We were disappointed that there was no comp breakfast like at other BW hotels. We also thought it was quite pricey given the lack of amenities. The building is quite old so nothing special there but it is in a fantastic location right downtown.

"Nice remodel"
BobFarr2000, 22 Juin 2017

Since our last visit very nice upgrades in units. We got last room so ended up with the handicapped suite opposite the elevator. But wow still quiet and with a great new bed etc. After being down the street in B&B hell this was just perfect. We ll be back.

"Great Stay"
Paul F, 18 Juin 2017

Excellent hotel - clean and well appointed rooms and decor. Staff in reception and bars were friendly and helpful. Great location within easy walking distance to all attractions and amenities of Whitehorse.

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn, Whitehorse"
Eoin M, 18 Juin 2017

Comfortable hotel, centrally located, pleasant staff, some exterior modifications going on during my stay but interior is clean & modern with good, free WiFi, decent bar and restaurant although dinner menu is limited.

"Summer Solstice in Whitehorse"
TravellingMug83, 15 Juin 2017

We stayed here twice during summer vacation - our first night in Whitehorse before we set off on our camping adventure and on our last night for Canada Day!! We were upgrade due to our BW diamond status and enjoyed a jacuzzi room and were able to check in at 10am! We also appreciated the shuttle service to and from the airport - a trend I've noticed with Best Western! The hotel was located one block from downtown Whitehorse's main drag! It was a short $30 taxi ride to Whitehorse's beautiful golf course. A great pub is on site serving ice cold local brews - a real treat on a hot day! Restaurants are just a short walk away and the streets are easy to navigate! Wonderful trip to Canada's great north! This hotel is definitely worth a visit!

"Needed some air"
851vernk, 15 Juin 2017

We arrived at the Gold Rush Inn the 3rd day into our driving/camping trip up the Alcan Highway. Hoping for a shower and a good night's sleep. Showers accomplished but good night's sleep not so much. We have made this trip before and knew that the Yukon summers are often very warm. We did not think to ask whether the rooms had air conditioning so spent a sweltering and fairly sleepless night in our 3rd floor room. The room was well appointed and would have been a great stay otherwise. We would probably stay here again but will definitely ask if they have updated to some air conditioning first! By the way, the crab cakes at the Towne Club Restaurant next to the hotel were "to die for" good!!

"Week long stay (almost)"
seajaydw, 14 Juin 2017

We stayed here for almost a week, staying the first few days in their 2 bedroom suite as a homebase with a large group while we did some roadtrips (fantastic, quiet, fully equipped room but bring an eye mask for anyone who would be sleeping on the pull out couch as there aren't black out blinds in that room or kitchen area). "Summer" at the front counter was so friendly and helpful. The next room we stayed on on the 3rd floor was fine and worked great for the rest of our stay.

"Overbooked, no room for us."
Go2FunFood, 13 Juin 2017

We arrived only to find they had no room. Instead of sending us to their sister property just down the street they sent us to their sister property further away. They knew before we arrived this would be the case but didn't prearrange anything. When we got there we had to wait almost 30 minutes to be told there wasn't a room when the "manager" finally became available to tell us. They said the other hotel was just as nice and we were all registered there but not the case when we got there they had just been called minutes before we walked in the door. Disappointed.

"The hotel was very warm and under construction"
mariancamp2017, 12 Juin 2017

I found the front desk to be uncaring about placing us in a very small room for our week stay and not prepared to change us rooms. We specifically asked for a larger room as we were staying a week. The bathroom was quite small.

"My stay in Yukon"
tgun403, 06 Juin 2017

Everybody was super friendly, from the shuttle driver at the airport to the front desk staff, to the cleaning staff. They really made sure I was well taken care of. Right downtown too - great place to stay!

"Business Trio"
Michael G, 06 Juin 2017

I come to Whitehorse for 5 days at a time, twice/year and try to stay at this hotel. Hint: make hotel reservations asap as most people who come believe it's the best hotel In Whitehorse. Whitehorse is a high tourism city and no matter what season, they get high traffic. They are presently doing a refacing of the outside of the building. I've stayed at other hotels when I couldn't get into this one and they certainly did not measure up. The sports bar/pub attached serves excellent food.

"Yukon Trip"
edwardh285, 02 Juin 2017

Hotel was under exterior renovation so could not park in front making it difficult to unload and load bags. Restaurant was closed due to renovation had to eat in the lounge bar. Food in bar was fair. Only one elevator making it a bit awkward.

"Hotel stay"
kevinkG5152BE, 31 Mai 2017

Quaint hotel with friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay. would not hesitate to book here again. Good location, right in downtown Whitehorse. Found guest laundry very convenient. Overall a very pleasant travel experience.

"Poor service and poor value"
ghislainm284, 31 Mai 2017

Check in was inefficient and a farce. Due to poorly trained staff it took overall 15-20 minutes and this to be told at 14:00 that the room wasn't ready. Wake up call not delivered. Washroom fan not working properly. Noisy fridge in the room. Room temperature was way to warm.

"Great staff"
Katykau, 27 Mai 2017

We went to Whitehorse to ride some of the great biking trails. We chose the Best Western because the price was great for the quality of the hotel. The staff helped us each day to get our bikes out of hotel safe storage. On our last day after we had checked out we found that our car battery was dead. The manager went out of his way to help us. He found us jumper cables and offered his own car tongive us a jump and get us on our way back go Alaska. We will always stay at this hotel when visiting Whitehorse.

"Gold Rush Hotel - Whitehorse"
461gregoryc, 24 Mai 2017

Centrally located within walking distance of most downtown attractions. It is easier to use the stairs. The elevator is small in size and slow. Access card is needed to use the elevator and open the door to each floor - good safety feature.

"Highly recommended"
Kim K, 19 Mai 2017

There are a lot of hotels in Whitehorse. This one is the only one I have tried on my two visits there. Was told they had the best beds and the beds are comfy. Internet speed great. Probably more money than other choices, but the rooms are clean, quiet. Central location, walking disttance to some terrific coffee shops and places to dine.

"Nice Stay"
macedon2, 11 Mai 2017

Stayed 1 night in a king suite. The room was very large, and well presented. The bed was very comfy, and the room clean. The hotel is in a good location to go out and eat, or there is meals and drink on site. I have stayed at other hotels in Whitehorse and l would stay here again before the others.

"Open door policy"
DStanley11, 04 Mai 2017

I have been checked into this hotel for 30 mins now. Changed rooms once and housekeeping has walked in TWICE without knocking. Are you kidding me? I have been working in the hotel industry for 6 years now, and this is a horrible first impression of a property. Here's hoping the rest of my stay is okay....

"Nothing special"
Aida W, 29 Avril 2017

Just ok, nothing special. Not very clean, but bed is comfortable. Room is too cold for me, so I use my own blanket as an extra cover. Made forgot to clean a coffee maker after previous people. And it's no way to turn on a fridge and a microwave, because are no plugs around them or even close to.

"Whitehorse rest spot"
gordon w, 29 Avril 2017

This is a good spot to staay location is good, food and drink available on site. It is the north therefore the tating is compared to other northern hotels. Not as luxurious as southern hotels clean and.quiet..The shuttle service to hotel was prompt with courteous drivers. I would recommend this location.

"Noisy room on a weekend"
vegfam2013, 23 Avril 2017

We arrived at this hotel around 7pm. The reservation was in my husbands name as he is the one with the BW rewards card. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk advised me that if my husband was not present I could not check in without him. I advised her that my husband has the rewards card and we always make the reservations in his name for the points. I also advised that I have stayed at this hotel many times but have never had this happen. She stated that this was the "right way" to check in, and asked me if I could reach my husband by phone. After getting his "approval". She proceeded to check us in. I had called the hotel earlier in the day to request a room near the back of the hotel as we have found these rooms to be nicer and away from the elevators and noise. The person that I spoke to earlier in the day when I called said that she would put a note on our reservation. When I asked the front desk clerk if we had a room at the back, she said that we did not. She suggested that next time we call the hotel to request this and I stated that I had done this for this reservation. She looked confused as she looked at the computer screen, but changed our room to a room at the back of the hotel. She the. Offered us free bottled water and snack which I thought was a nice offering. So, next, we got to our room, which was nice, and at the back of the hotel and the Main Street , but I began to hear a thumping loud noise, which was the bar on the main floor which has live music on weekend nights. I called the front desk and asked what time the live music stopped. She said 10:30pm. Since I had a seven year old who would be in bed before 1030pm, I asked if we could move to another room. The room she offered was an "upgraded room" with jacuzzi tub. We went to the front desk to get our new room keys. The new room had a jacuzzi tub but the bed was a queen and the room wasn't actually as nice as the first room. It was also at the front side of the hotel, and we could hear drunk people coming and going loudly from the downstairs bar. I turned on the oscillating fan which drowned out most of the noise. The room was clean but needs freshening up and the room was tiny and looked old.

"Miner town"
Serene81, 21 Avril 2017

Clean, friendly, and accessible hotel. The room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Enjoyed listening to local artists sing and play in the local saloon. The main lobby felt like I stepped back in time during Gold Rush days.

"Warm and welcoming"
Albuquerque108, 20 Avril 2017

After a day on the sparse Al-Can, it was great to stay at the Gold Rush. Don't let the scary Mountie in the lobby frighten you away. The rooms were clean and well cared for, the beds comfortable and staff was helpful. After many days in rural territory, Whitehorse was like a civilized star there in reality. The food was good from the restaurant downstairs and more than enough to eat. Computers on each floor if you needed to connect to the world outside.

"Excellent stay."
Jennifer H, 15 Avril 2017

This hotel was just what I needed after hours of travel. Welcoming staff, cozy and comfortable room, perfect location...just step outside and you're downtown. Check in and check out were a breeze and the staff went out of their way to make helpful suggestions. This is the place to stay in Whitehorse.

"Helpful, Welcoming Staff"
V7954NLsarahw, 12 Avril 2017

The staff was very helpful throughout my weeks stay. When I needed scissors, directions, or simple conversation they were able to provide me with such. The rooms were clean and decently decorated in a way that didn't cause excess stress or disorientation.

"Business"
stacybV4565DS, 10 Avril 2017

One of the best hotels in Whitehorse. Located on aim street , walking distance to fabulous restaurants, unique retailers to give a unique northern shopping experience. If your in Whitehorse for business or pleasure I recommend the BW Gold Rush Inn!

"Great Hotel"
L9450AStraceym, 09 Avril 2017

The Gold Rush Inn is very central to everything in the downtown code of Whitehorse. Many, many good restaurants are close by or the food at the hotel itself is excellent too. Hotel staff are friendly and very efficient. The rooms are clean and the beds are super comfy. I can't say enough about this place or the staff...my hotel of choice when I am in Whitehorse.

"Comfort"
lorraineg137, 06 Avril 2017

This hotel is comfortable and quaint. It's close to other establishments for food or quiet drinks. This hotel has a great lounge area with very good food. It can be a bit noisy on evenings where a live band is brought in, making conversations difficult.

"Not your typical Best Western"
Mark E, 03 Avril 2017

Room had an odd odour to it which I could not identify. Told front desk about an malfunctioning bedside lamp and it was fixed promptly and properly. Odd wiring at the writing desk. There was not an available plug that my cord could reach (all available plugs were used by microwave, fridge, lamp and TV, Internet speed was glacial. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Was surprised to find out there was no breakfast buffet especially at the price we paid per night.

"9 day stay for business purposes"
Justine28, 27 Novembre 2016

This was my second stay at the Gold Rush; this time stayed here for 9 days (over two weekends). The hotel has a very convenient location downtown, free shuttle from/to airport, free parking for their patrons and free wifi. The room was comfortable, but was showing some first signs of wear and tear. Altogether had a very good, comfortable stay even though with one major complaint: the hotel can be very noisy at times. We stayed in a 3rd floor room facing the main street with the two lively bars; I usually don't care much about noise when travelling, but since I was here for work, it was really quite unbearable at times. The noises from the bars below were awful around the weekends and the late-arrivals to the rooms on the 4th floor above us (rooms with the jacuzzi) meant we had very little sleep during very busy work week (the floors between 3rd and 4th floor are so squeaky and thin that you hear every single step, running water etc). When checking out I was given some very good advice: to request a room on 4th floor and facing the RCMP/ back of the hotel. I will surely have to do that next time if I'm to stay at the property again. I would suggest following that advice, especially if travelling for work or being a light sleeper.

"gold rush is good"
Glen Thomas C, 19 Novembre 2016

i lived here for 6 months back in 2002--it's even better now--not a worry--friendly staff and a good rate. And the restaurant has great food at really good prices! Also great local bands and company in the bar area.

"Nice stay"
Egrant907, 26 Octobre 2016

We arrived in Whitehorse exhausted from our drive in from Tok, Alaska. Late check in was simple and our room was nice. It was very hot during our visit and there is no central air. We were on the first floor, which had a window that opened but was too close to the sidewalk/road to feel comfortable leaving the window open overnight. A fan was provided in the room to help with the heat. We stayed in the handicapped room that was right next to the bar/lounge, but it was closed so noise was not an issue. The room was pet friendly and we had no issues. Would stay there again!

"Very comfortable - recommend staying here if visiting Whitehorse."
Susan B, 26 Octobre 2016

We stayed last night and will be returning for another night in a few days as part of an Northern Lights package tour. The room we had was very large with 2 double beds, work desk, table and chairs and an easy chair and ottoman and large flat screen TV. Beds were exceptionally comfortable with soft quilts. Very clean; well cared for. Staff very friendly.

"Warm, comfortable and friendly accommodation."
JennyWorrell, 23 Octobre 2016

We stayed for 3 nights and the first night was a little noisy so we were moved to another room. No problem at all. Staff were friendly and very helpful and and we would love to come back to amazing Whitehorse. We dined in the attached dining room each night and again, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. No cost parking for the hire car was a bonus.

"Central location"
Sarah W, 22 Octobre 2016

Big rooms & central location make it an easy pick to stay for downtown Whitehorse. The food downstairs isn't the best, but it's convenient. Noise comes through the ceiling like nobody's business, and I found myself cringing when I was walking over my creaking floors, wondering what my downstairs neighbourhours were suffering through. The airport shuttle & luggage storage service went off without a hitch, and were very convenient.

"Noce"
70Brian44, 21 Octobre 2016

Not our first stay. Interesting that we tried a number of different sites, including Best Western and could not get a reservation. When we prepaid through Otel, there were rooms available. Desk staff not extremely friendly, with one exception. Cleaning staff were great, even though overworked. I understand the influx of Asian folks in the north this time of the year, but the desk staff should have a better command of the English language.

"Good place to stay in Whitehorse"
ShanghaitoAsia, 21 Octobre 2016

We have been to Whitehorse to see the northern lights. Hotel staff was fast, friendly and helped us with reservations, storing luggage and so on. Pub is open way after midnight, so even if you fly in late, there is time for a pint. Hotel offers transportation from / to the airport.

"Road trip "
Samantha R, 17 Octobre 2016

My husband and I were doing a short 3+ day road trip from Kelowna, BC to Whitehorse YT. We ended up arriving in Whitehorse at 9pm. We asked if they had any rooms available and they did (which is fantastic on short notice without reservations). We stayed the one night and it was great. I love the themed aspect and breakfast was amazing. I would definitely go back.

"Very nice place"
346normas, 12 Octobre 2016

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The amenities were great including a spa. I didn't get a chance to use the spa but it looked great. My room was great. The bed was clean and comfortable. I liked the fact that the windows opened which allowed me to enjoy the fresh and clean Yukon air. My room was a very nice size and because I was feeling sick it was great to spend time in there while I recovered. I would definitely recommend this place and I would certainly return with pleasure.

"Get place to rest our heads"
Katrina C, 12 Octobre 2016

The first thing when you walk into the best western is that you feel like you've walked into the gold rush saloon in the 1890's! It has wood finishes everywhere. The staff were incredibly friendly and check in was quick and painless. The only downfall was that the elevator going to the third floor was broken, other than that, our suite was beautiful, modern design with new bath fixtures and a jacuzzi tub that was in the bedroom. It is well situated to everything within white horse but far enough that there is very little noise during the evening hours

"Excellent"
qc_at_heart, 11 Octobre 2016

I have stayed at this particular Best Western in excess of 25 different times for both business and personal. I have always had excellent service from the front desk staff and I have never been disappointed in my room. I have stayed at other hotels in the Whitehorse area out of necessity and am always disappointed in them. The rooms at the Gold Rush Inn are updated and modern. They always have excellent WIFI which I can get Netflix and get caught up on a few shows. The telephones in the room have free long distance across Canada so you can make that call to the office or home. One thing I really like is that it is on Main Street, I can walk down the street to one of the restaurants/pubs and walk back, no need to drive. It's location on Main Street is close to stores, pubs, restaurants and the dog park. They also have free parking at the side of the building as well as offer a free shuttle service to and from the airport, they monitor flight arrival and departures. I have had to stay at the hotel previously with my dog and once again the staff was excellent when checking in. The pet rooms are more than adequate and the dog park is a few minutes away. The restaurant attached to the hotel is good and offers live music on the weekends. The prices have always been reasonable. The only thing to be aware of is the elevator, which is extremely SLOW. I usually take the elevator up with my luggage then walk down the stairs every other time. As I mentioned above I have stayed at various hotels in the Whitehorse area and I would highly recommend this one. Staff is excellent and so is the location. Chantal

"The location is the only thing going for this hotel"
Andylee52, 10 Octobre 2016

So I do have a couple of positive notes to mention. Firstly, this hotel is well located, only walking distance to most amenities, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. I also came across a few friendly front desk staff. But... for the following reasons, I will not return to this hotel, nor recommend it to anyone: - Upon check-in, I had to carry all of our luggage & shopping from the car to the room, as the hotel had only two bell carts, both of which were loaded with hotel supplies. Basically the guest facilities were being monopolized by lazy hotel staff. Not a problem if it was just myself traveling, but I had the whole family with me (4 total), which is a lot of luggage! - Rather noisy (upstairs and hallway). - Housekeeping cleaned and replenished our room, while we displayed a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. - Multiple items went missing from our room (Bag of chips, box of cereal), most disappointingly our son's teddy bear, which my wife remembers leaving on the bed, and upon inquiring into lost and found 3 hours after checkout, the hotel "did not find anything". A colleague also staying here, happen to lose some Bose earphones, which also mysteriously disappeared. The rate was also rather high based on the quality of product and service. I am a hotelier myself, so I am always evaluating/measuring "value for money"... and this just did not provide me with confidence.

"Nice older hotel"
PalmSpringsVisitors, 10 Octobre 2016

We like Best Western hotels and decided to stay at the Gold Rush Inn since it sounded historic and charming. Parking is behind the hotel, and we had no problem finding a slot. The lobby is small with some interesting memorabilia. We were on the 4th floor, and there is one (slow) elevator. Our room was large with a king bed, desk and chair, microwave, and small refrigerator. The bathroom was small but well appointed. The room, and hotel, were clean and quiet but seemed older in need of some updating. We had breakfast in the dining room, and there was a limited menu, one server, and a larger noisy group. For the most part, the staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location, with walking distance to restaurants and shops and, a little farther, to the river. We would like to visit Whitehorse again and would stay here.

"Average"
PriMSilva, 10 Octobre 2016

The hotel is clean and staff friendly however due to the age of the hotel you can listen to the others guests walking on the corridor and the upper floor. It is one of the restaurant opened for lunch (before 4pm) in the city. Food is ok.

"Disappointing..."
Omaron, 07 Octobre 2016

Other that the location and some good Front Desk staff, nothing to feel good about during this 5 days stay... Wooden frame building, super noisy place. Could hear everything happening outside, upstairs and next door. I had to change the room so left my brand new headphones behind together with a small amenities in the 1st room... I went back the same day but they couldn't find them. My colleague also forgot something after checking out and couldn't get it back... Founders, keepers style :(

"Great place and dog friendly!"
ak3250, 06 Octobre 2016

The rooms were excellent. All updated, clean, quiet. Great staff. Loved staying here and would definitely stay here again. The hotel is charming, all antiques in the lobby. Tons of character. Located in the heart of downtown just a few blocks from the Yukon River. Near anywhere you would want to be.

"Better than nothing"
Alain M, 06 Octobre 2016

Hotel ordinary service, restaurant/bar bad service, not helpful and not friendly, no smiles and no thanks. No room service! I visit Whitehorse 2 times a year and for the last 3 years it was my hotel not by choice... there is no many choice for hotel around...

"Central location, nice staff and well equipped rooms"
Sydney-sider_ML, 05 Octobre 2016

The room was booked as part of an aurora tour package, so I didn't have high expectations, but the hotel is located in a central location on main street with easy walking access to key areas in town. Staff were very professional and helpful, and the room was well kept and comfortable, despite the building being obviously quite old. They also had a free shuttle to the airport, which was very convenient.

"Nice Hotel"
Harleyriders10, 03 Octobre 2016

I stayed here on a business trip to Alaska. This is an interesting hotel. It has a lot of character related to the Yukon area. The lounge was very nice and the food was great. The only issue I had was that the parking is horrible.

"Nice serviceable hotel"
SaskTravlr, 23 Septembre 2016

We stayed 2 nights, while on vacation. The hotel I in a good location, walking distance to anything you want to do downtown. Plenty of room in the parking lot. Our room was on the 4th floor so no noise from the bar. There was some noise from the airport but it was minor. Mini-fridge and microwave in the room are a nice plus. Comfortable bed. Very much a "no frills" place but we were spending all of our time outside hiking anyways so we had no need for anything fancy. The only negative was the panhandlers hanging out on the bench out front of the hotel.

"Comfortable but some improvements needed"
Sharon S, 22 Septembre 2016

We stayed on two separate occasions for one night each. The bed was comfortable with good pillows, but the lower level lift wasn't working on the second stay and we had to carry our luggage down some stairs from a mezzanine like level. Apparently this happens quite often. On our first stay we stayed on the second floor, to which we could constantly hear people on the third floor moving around the squeeky floor boards. The third floor on our second stay was much quieter. We didn't eat in the restaurant/bar, when we tried they always had loud music and we prefer a quieter dining atmosphere. There are other plenty of good local restaurants in town anyway. The carpark is only small, and it worked on a first in gets a park. Although a couple of spaces were taken up by people not staying in the hotel. It is comfortable but there could be some improvements, I think the lift is a big need for an upgrade.

"Nice, comfortable"
zowieyellowflame, 19 Septembre 2016

Lobby is old and dated but rooms are lovely. Beds are really soft with plush, white linens. Window has a nice, dark curtain to keep out the light. My only small complaint is the water in the shower became hot and then cooled a few times without notice. Not a big deal, I would stay here again.

"Convenient, Great Door to Door Service From The Airport, Clean, Well Priced!"
sf g, 14 Septembre 2016

We were so well taken care of. As soon as we were outside the airport doors our shuttle was right there. The driver was very professional and friendly. We were at the hotel in no time. The staff at the front desk was very professional. We met Tyler from Dawson city, born and raised there, he was terrific. The other person behind the desk was kind of intense and serious, but Tyler was so sincerely welcoming, we were at ease and in good hands. (hope that is his name, young fellow, tall, glasses -high marks!) The hotel is at the very top of its star category. Clean and comfortable, safe. Nice size room, we had 2 doubles, it looked newly renovated and decorated. Good tv reception, sufficient channel selection, refrigerator, coffee maker. Maid service was thorough and friendly. We would stay here again for sure. Very pleased and so well situated. Great price. The shuttle back to the airport was on time and friendly. All was just as it should be. No issues, no drama.

"Has been a year since my last visit"
Tony Q, 12 Septembre 2016

Friendly checkin staff Had to wait for my room as I arrived early but was given coffee while I waited Room was quiet Very comfortable bed and good food in the adjoins restaurant Would definitely stay here again

"A little bit of luxury"
lizzy122015, 09 Septembre 2016

We enjoyed staying at this hotel, which was interesting and decorated in the era of the gold rush. It unfortunately only had two tiny elevators, and a lot of stairs. The room was very comfortable, but very hot. The service in the bar/restaurant in the hotel was rude to say the least, therefore we went out to eat dinner. Breakfast was very nice, with a good choice, but again service was slow and stressed.

"Great Service"
Corrinne W, 08 Septembre 2016

Stayed here last week and I was treated with a lot of kindness during a difficult time. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The clerk at the front desk was so nice, offering any help he could and also providing a compassionate rate. I always stay here in Whitehorse if I can & recommend booking ahead if possible as many nights they are sold out.

"Better than average, but good rather than very good"
Phillip L, 05 Septembre 2016

A well located hotel, with an old west feel about it. We stayed there twice on our tour road trip, the first time, with a relatively small room, the second time in a much larger room and for once on our trip, a very good size bathroom. The beds were comfortable, the rooms clean and we were happy to stay there. Even with street facing rooms, noise was limited. Facilities offered by the hotel included a bar, dining room and a free computer on each floor. Breakfast was pretty average, so if you could find one elsewhere, that would be preferable. Hint: The lift on the ground floor opposite the lobby is slow. Walk up the stairs (maybe 20 steps) near it, to a much quicker lift.

"Very nice hotel"
LesPicker, 05 Septembre 2016

Visiting Yukon can (should) be an adventure. When back in Whitehorse, the Best Western is a comfortable, relaxed place. I have stayed here before several times. On my last visit I had a King bed that was incredibly comfortable, with 4 fluffy pillows. The room was spotlessly clean, with lots of extra towels and the usual amenities. Wifi was strong. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, especially Tyler. The location is great, at the end of Main Street, so that you are just a block from the start of the shopping area, but in a quieter location.

"Very well located to what Whitehorse has to offer"
Geddes_7, 04 Septembre 2016

The Best Western Gold Rush Inn is well located - the highlights of Whitehorse are all within easy walking distance. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms comfortable without being remarkable. We were in a room on the top floor of the hotel. The elevator wasn't working which made moving luggage a challenge. Breakfast at the restaurant was acceptable - again nothing amazing, but nothing wrong either. I thought that the hotel was fine - nothing remarkable, but nothing that really warranted criticism. My ultimate test, would I return - quite possibly.

"Good location, comfy beds but bands are a killer."
Carmel M, 03 Septembre 2016

This in is in a great location and walking distance to everything. The staff are lovely and friendly, rooms very clean and beds are very comfortable. The only thing that spoilt the stay for us was the noise level in our room which was right above the salon where a band played each night till 10.30pm, so if you needing an early night, you will need to change rooms. We didn't eat a meal here except for breakfast which was fine.

"We loved this place!"
james s, 01 Septembre 2016

Crossing thru town on a move, they had room in our lot for our pickup and trailer. No hassle. They welcomed our cat for a small fee. The pub downstairs had good supper and outstanding breakfast, both at fair prices. Place was clean, spotless actually, and a professionally yet relaxed feel. Rates were competitive. And we were impressed with the service provided by first Benita who found a way for us to stay two nites when we found ourselves in WH early. And who took it on herself when she left her shift to brief her colleague Summer who greeted us on arrival and made us welcome. All in all, this was our best stay in any hotel in our cross country move.

"Comfy night's sleep"
Jane H, 31 Août 2016

Great value hotel.very comfy beds ,large two double room.modern, clean bathroom. Staff were efficient and checkin and checkout were quick and easy. Breakfast ok,a little overpriced for average food ,therefore would not recommend. Good central location.

"Whitehorse, a wonderful place to visit"
David S, 28 Août 2016

Stayed at the hotel for a week for a sons wedding. The rooms are reasonable, the bed was comfortable, the place is nice. My disappointment was that I was staying for 7 days but they gave us one of the smaller rooms. I know this because my son stayed in the hotel on the night before the wedding and he was in a much larger room. If your staying for a longer time why not offer a larger more spacious room. Other than that the hotel was quite nice and the staff were very friendly. My only other recommendation is to not have breakfast at the hotel, the menu is very limited, it's either eggs or nothing

"Comfortable in Whitehorse!"
worldwidelens, 24 Août 2016

We stayed at the Best Western for 2 nights and it was pretty good. The hotel is an old wooden building, so you can hear your neighbour above you when they walk around. We had a particularly busy neighbour who came back to his room at 3am and continued to shuffle around until 5am, so we had very little sleep on that night. We write him a note and the next night was better. We raised the issue with the front desk (Summer) and they were very helpful and asked if we wanted to move rooms. We said that we didn't and that we would write a note to the guest. The bed was comfy and the amenities were perfect, overall it was a good stay!

"Remarkable and wonderful"
lizD1030BU, 21 Août 2016

Can't say enough good about this hotel, we had such a wonderful experience staying there. We were a group of 6 heading out on a long canoe trip, we stayed there 3 separate times during our visit to the Yukon and had tons of gear. Every staff member was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, flexible, and accommodate our needs. The rooms were comfortable, well-appointed, the location is deal for exploring Whitehorse. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were up to date and well-equipped, our group stayed in a combined total of 9 different rooms during our visit to the province, all of them were great. We were given the loan of a conference room to sort and organize our gear before our expedition, and able to store our gear and explore the province once we returned from our canoe trip. I'd return to the Yukon in a heartbeat and would stay again at the Gold Rush Inn with pleasure.

"A Reasonable Option in Downtown Whitehorse"
BlackBear1959, 20 Août 2016

We recently stayed at The Gold Rush Inn on three separate occasions during a two week visit to the Yukon and Alaska - so we became quite familiar with the highlights and problems with this hotel. The front desk staff were always welcoming, attentive and efficient at check-in and check-out. The rooms are comfortable with some helpful amenities such as a fridge and microwave. There is free parking beside the hotel. However, some rooms are rather small and can be quite stuffy on a warm summer evening. On our final two night stay the elevator to the fourth floor was broken - this meant hauling luggage up four floors or an elaborate elevator - stair combination to reach your room. The hotel has a spacious and, what appears to be, well equipped fitness centre. Unfortunately, one treadmill was out of order and the other was stuck on a permanent incline. The water cooler rarely contained water. Be sure to request a room on the third or fourth floor - when the elevator is working - and a room that is NOT facing Main St. if you want a decent night's sleep. This is especially the case on weekends where street / party noise continues until 3 a.m. Finally, remember that you are not in Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa. You are not likely to get the same degree of refinement for the money as you would in an urban centre in the south. Overall, I would recommend The Gold Rush Inn - just be aware of a few of its issues.

"One night only "
Chug48, 19 Août 2016

Stayed one night (6 hours actually) and the room was ok, small, but clean and comfortable. Check in and out was very very slow. The hotel had an airport shuttle which would be very handy and all In all an ok place to stay. Price was way to high for a quick stay but what can you do when everything is sold out.

"Stuck in fifties"
Ellie N, 17 Août 2016

Arranged by Discover Holidays to stay 3 nights as a tour was on. Looks like built in fifties and has not been touched since. We had no air conditioning, they had one fan in room and was not enough for two queen beds. Our room was over the dining room which on Friday and Saturday had live band playing so we had no sleep. Tried to leave windows open but the people going in and our of music venue would smoke and laugh below our window. The hall carpet on 2nd floor and blue painters tape to hold it down for a couple of feet. Our room curtains had on short one and one long one. The food was heavy nothing light and overpriced.

"Quite possibly the friendliest people in the Yukon!"
DeborahMcK, 17 Août 2016

From the moment you check in until the moment check out, I never encountered such professional, knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly staff anywhere, and that also includes the cleaning staff! Obviously the owners deserve a shout out because without great leadership nothing could happen. The location is excellent as you can easily walk anywhere in the downtown core so you can leave you vehicle safely parked next door for free.

"Quaint"
Linda7132907, 16 Août 2016

Nice rooms & very spacious , clean & neat. Very friendly staff. Ask for a room on the back side. Nice & quiet there but did hear some folks complaining about street noise in the front side rooms. Crowded parking lot but it's off the street. Wifi worked some of the time but maybe that's just phones from another country.

"Awesome Stay! Thanks Benita!"
jennifertaylor085, 16 Août 2016

Great Rooms. What stands out is the Front Desk Clerk Benita! She went out of her way to ensure our stay in Whitehorse was memorable. Her professional and engaging manner made us feel very Welcome. She went out of her way to answer our questions as well as directing us to the local business' and sites. THANKS SO MUCH BENITA!

"comfort stay"
denise886, 14 Août 2016

We stayed a lot in Best Western in the past and this Gold Rush Inn is just as good as other Best Western hotels. Good and clean room with comfortable bed, fast wifi. There was no road noise and we have a great sleep.

"Good Base Camp"
Don S, 14 Août 2016

We stayed here for a week while touring Whitehorse. The rooms were well laid out and the staff was most helpful. The restaurant served good breakfasts. This is an older wood frame building so expect to hear some noise at night. Great value and location.

"Nice but pricey"
Fred M, 14 Août 2016

Nice old updated hotel located in downtown area. Paved part of parking lot is small and unpaved overflow could use some grading. Like most places in the Yukon, it is pricey for what you get bit is clean and comfortable. Would have been nice to have breakfast included. Would also have been nice to have A/C as it was a fairly warm day and not that cool a night.

"Northern Gem"
Wesley R, 12 Août 2016

Excellent staff , great food, good location and great prices. You will definitely feel home away from home here. Great atmosphere makes you feel as if you've taken a step back in time to experience the true Yukon

"Spoilt by the restaurant "
lambethn0rth, 11 Août 2016

A good hotel. Expensive but not by the standard of the North of Canada. Room was clean, well equipped and of a good standard. It had air con which is unusual in this part of the world where it is not often needed. Hotel was centrally located and close to a number of eating places. I tried to eat in the hotel restaurant on the first night but gave up after being ignored by the waiting staff who were more than happy to chat to their friends. There is a very reasonable Chinese just opposite and a lot of other restaurants so the attitude was hard to understand.

"check in procedure"
H5118OKmichelel, 11 Août 2016

seems to be a problem with check ins as waited for the airport shuttle. a few other parties were experiencing the same thing. told that the room wasn't ready and to check back later. we had to check back three times before getting in our room just before 5pm. check in is 3pm

"NOIEY"
750glennisb, 08 Août 2016

I will never stay at this hotel again. Bar in the hotel and another at the end of the block. Noise continues until 2 or 3 am with drunks on the street and vehicles running. The problem is the room wasn't air conditioned so that meant closing the window. Then there was the laundry cart on the tiLe floor right next to my room. Unfortunate wake up call anytime between 1 am and 8 am. I called the front desk at 2 am about the noise -No answer. Spoke to the front desk the next day..... they weren't interested. Only indicated that they were putting a/c in the remaining rooms as they could afford. Definitely not impressed.

"Had a blast from the past"
DoRae, 07 Août 2016

Only bad thing we found was the lack of close-by parking and being warned not to leave anything in our vehicle, a truck with lots of household goods my son was moving to Alaska so couldnt unpack it all. Fortunately the recent thieves did not strike. Hotel was nice, clean and friendly. Loved the saloon from gold rush days. Open mic nite was fun. Sang to earn my son a free beer and then my son did standup comedy...10 minutes of his recently deceased dads old jokes. Dad would have loved it. Made for a fun evening and food was good too. Would stay again if I had the chance!

"Disappointed"
steamboatskigal, 06 Août 2016

I figured a Best Western with good reviews on Trip Advisor was the way to go. So disappointed. Limited parking as others have pointed out - we were lucky and got a spot in the back, so not an issue for us. It's hot. NO AC and the rooms are hot. SMALL (I mean 18" wide small....) window, with no cross breeze. I am from Colorado and live in a house with no AC - I am not needy. But this....too hot. And, we had the privilege of being over the bar with live music until 10:30 PM. I am not a party pooper but when I am traveling, I want to go to bed early and get up early. Not happening here. Carpet squares in the hallways held together in many spots with colored duct tape - really? I am in the property management business, this is how you lose customers. Sorry, Best Western, you missed the mark by a long shot. We will be back to Whitehorse, but we will not stay here.

"Review"
Dennis H, 06 Août 2016

With no air conditioning in the room made for 2 of the nights quite uncomfortable, the service in the restaurant was terrible during breakfast each morning lunch one day, and dinner one day as well as drinks 2 of the nights

"Great service and comfortable rooms"
John C, 03 Août 2016

We suspect this is the nicest spot to stay in Whitehorse. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotless, beds comfy, and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. While having breakfast in the somewhat gloomy bar felt a bit strange, it was good value and had the best "home fried potatoes" I've had in a while. They were cut too perfectly to be anything other than store bought, but they were nice and spicy and had great tooth feel. Now, that seems way too much to say about breakfast potatoes, but don't you think they are usually almost inedible - dry, tasteless and chewy? When one hits on some good ones, they just have to get a special mention. On the same topic, why did Tim Horton's dump those yummy spicy little potato cakes they used to serve and replace them with Macdonald-like blandness? Anyway, stay at the Gold Rush Inn when you go north of 60 in Yukon; you will not regret it.

"Great hotel and awesome service"
U5604KGchriss, 28 Juillet 2016

I went to Whitehorse on business and I had the most awesome time. I was greeted and treated so great by everyone. The rooms were clean and the food was great. I really enjoyed my stay. I will definitely come back to Whitehorse and I will definitely stay at the best western.

"Not bad by Yukon standards"
Terry S, 26 Juillet 2016

We stayed twice for a total of 5 nights. Our first room was located at the back of the hotel and thus away from the late night pub patrons leaving at closing time. The second time we were in the front and heard a bit too much partying. Our room were fine and our beds comfortable and clean. The Wi-Fi was more consistent in the front room. We didn't have air conditioning which was a misery when the temperature rose up to around 25C. We did have a fan. Service at the front desk was efficient.

"Honeymoon "
NavygirlComox, 23 Juillet 2016

Great little place. Clean rooms. Had a jacuzzi in my room. Not all rooms have air conditioning. Close to all amenities. Saloon on site. Can be expensive. Paid $149.00 per night with my discount.no pool just a exercise room with 2 items. Everthing else was down for repair. Overall was great.

"stayed twice, different experience each time"
goodtogoOriillia, 20 Juillet 2016

1st stay were in a lovely room, air-conditioned and quite spacious. 2nd stay were in a smaller room which was not air-conditioned, long walk to the elevator not nearly as nice of a room. The restaurant/ bar is dark and dingy. It also seemed to attract some seedy characters and I was glad that the elevator required a card to operate for safety of its guests.

"So so stay"
cfb107, 20 Juillet 2016

Wow, what can I saw, triple A gives this a 3 diamond review did they miss the mark. Parking is either on the street with parking meters or a mud lot. The room had no AC with only a small window opening with a torn screen and a little fan. The tempts tire was 78 outside do you go figure the comfort. The room was musky dirty and old. Place needs a lot to improve. The front fest check in has its share of problems as well. The ice machine on the 2nd floor was broken.

"Helpful staff, smaller rooms"
AirCanuck, 19 Juillet 2016

As the street-front appearance would suggest, this is an older-style hotel with long, narrow corridors and small rooms that don't offer much open space. Our room overlooked Main Street, which was not an issue except the street cleaner came by at 5 a.m. and disturbed everyone in our room. Not the hotel's fault but still, added an annoyance to our stay. Room was adequate - clean but worn. Bathroom was clean too. Front desk staff were helpful to explain best parking practices. Hotel has certain rooms that are pet-friendly, but best to book those ahead of time. Hotel is near an off-leash dog park, ask for directions at the front desk if you don't know its location.

"NOT AIR CONDITIONED"
Rachel P, 14 Juillet 2016

I never thought of asking if room had A/C. When you pay $200 you assume. It was a hot miserable night :( Staff was very nice and the room itself was nice. Very clean, etc. Found it to be noisy. Walls very thin. No free continental breakfast. Would I stay here again. The answer is.. NO.

"Comfort in the Yukon"
DuncanMusicman, 10 Juillet 2016

We had the fortune of staying in a very large air conditioned King room on the top floor for five nights. The room was very clean and quiet. The bed was extremely quiet and we both slept like rocks for over 8 hours each night. The only problem with sleeping in late was the temperature of the shower. Very nice and warm early in the morning...barely lukewarm by 9 am. But hey....the awesome late sleep was worth it. The WiFi wasn't as fast as other hotels we have stayed at but it was free and got the job done (eventually). The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with all our questions. While the breakfast in the pub was rather pricey and the service was slow, the size of the breakfast was enormous and extremely tasty. However, for the remaining four mornings, we simply walked to other nearby breakfast choices. Extremely handy having a computer and printer near the elevator on the top floor. Instead of having to take the slow elevator down and back up, it was a quick few steps to print off tourist directions and information. Nice touch. Thanks for the very comfortable stay!

"Lovely setting and service"
klepper-geocaching, 08 Juillet 2016

We stayed here several nights on our way up to Alaska and one night on the return leg. The only item here we missed was a buffet breakfast. However on the plus side there are many good eating spots in this city and we certainly made the most of them. We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly stay here again if traveling this way.

"Great Experience in Whitehorse"
mikegc, 06 Juillet 2016

We arrived in Whitehorse via motorcycles after a cold wet ride up from Watson Lake. Checking in a bit early, our spotless room was ready. The restaurant/bar was perfect as we didn't want to go out for dinner. The food was good and we met some great people there. On the return part of our trip, we'll stay there again.

"A bit run down"
MickBaby8, 02 Juillet 2016

Recently stayed with my family at the Best Western Gold Rush Inn. It's a bit run down but it was a comfortable stay. Walls and floors are paper thin though and for some reason our floor was completely uneven. Felt a bit bad as my kids ran around a lot and not sure the people below is appreciated that especially at 7am in the morning! Really nothing terrible but also nothing amazing. They do have a free shuttle to and from the airport which is nice. It's also located in downtown Whitehorse.

"Conveniently located."
DrGreg1963, 30 Juin 2016

I have stayed here several times, but this is my first review. The city is small, so everything is centrally located. The check in was good, and the clerk provided me with some basic suggestions for dinning and shopping. The elevator is small and slow, and the hallways and rooms, while clean, are tired. I think they don't update to give the illusion of the gold rush days. I am ok with that as long as it is clean. Rooms were spacious and we'll lit and the bed was comfortable and rooms are quiet. There is a bar/ restaurant attached to the hotel, that serves basic pub grub which many locals frequent. The hotel is also an easy walk to many good stores, and much better restaurants.

"HTL doesn't correspond to the usual standard of Best Western Groupe Hotels"
yellowman2015, 30 Juin 2016

Just OK for a stayover after a longer journey. Staff could have been more helpful. Room was clean but it seems that last renovation is far back behind! Allocated room was located on backside of HTL with windows towards exhaust chimney. AC facility has not only provided fresh air into room but also all kind of cooking odors. But finally you 'll find just what you need after a longer journey as there are not a lot of other options around the Airport and Downtown aerea.

"Large Hotel with good sized rooms"
Carol B, 28 Juin 2016

Hotel looked good when we arrived. BUT staff on reception could have been much more friendly and helpful. Room looked great, Large (delux) room However we soon found we were above the extractor for the kitchen which was noisy and also smelly. Also noise from the entertainment in the restaurant could be heard quite clearly at night. Breakfast was served in the Bar -no buffet - no restaurant - service was a bit slow and have certainly had better. Wouldn't eat here again. Overall hotel rooms etc Ok but service and food let it down.

"Great central location, helpful & friendly staff, nice place to stay"
markeleven, 27 Juin 2016

I was in Whitehorse for a wedding last weekend and was staying at the Gold Rush. From the moment I checked in I knew it would be a good stay. The reception staff were professional and friendly, the room was on the smaller side, but had everything I needed and was both clean and quiet. My room had air conditioning, but I heard some others didn't. If you're staying in the warmer months - June-August you might want to get a room with A/C. The location is central -easy walking distance to everything in town in less than 15 mins including shopping, restaurants, attractions etc. Free parking was a plus. I'd happily stay there again.

"Just what you want after a day of travel (and a great fitness centre)"
Melissa H, 25 Juin 2016

I love my quirky bed and breakfasts and independent inns, but after a week on the road, it was nice to come here and get exactly what I expected. The halls are narrow and the elevator is really slow, but the rooms were wonderfully comfortable. The bed was good, the air conditioning was effective, the shower was good. The laundry in the basement was coin operated, but the front desk would make change and sold laundry powder. Best of all was the fitness centre. Some hotel "gyms" are awful. This one was nice: free weights and two weight benches, several cardio machines, mats, balance balls, two televisions with remote controls, and towels. And it was available 24 hours a day with your room card; since I'm a morning person travelling with a non-morning person, that was ideal.

"Something Was Off"
JoBee I, 21 Juin 2016

The room was clean & nicely decorated, which was a nice surprise considering the collection of drink vagrants wandering about our front. I got a little worried when I had to use my key card to operate the elevator. We got up to our floor and the hallway was NARROW & it looked run down. So opening that room door was truly a SURPRISE. That is until I laid down and the paper thin walls reminded me that underneath the "lipstick & rouge" it's still a dinky place. I the plus side, it was really close to lots of great stores!

"Best Western Gold Rush Inn"
Leonard F, 21 Juin 2016

Clean and comfortable hotel. Rooms were spacious, even with 2 queen beds. Staff were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the rooms are not air conditioned and the rooms get uncomfortably warm at times. The hotel has provided a portable fan to at least circulate the air. The Hotel had a licenced restaurant but I only used the restaurant once so cannot really rate it.

"great!"
judejamin, 14 Juin 2016

This is a great hotel in a great central location. Probably the best in Whitehorse for a chain hotel. Very clean and comfortable beds. Interesting Frontier town decor in the lobby, but nice modern decor in the rooms. Really friendly staff. The internet is slow but I suspect all of the Yukon has slow internet!

"great stay in a scenic location"
Sheldon1969, 13 Juin 2016

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. they truly seem to what to help. the room was clean and the beds very comfortable. over all this was a typical stay at a best western. as this is not a plus location there was no included breakfast but there is a restaurant attached to the hotel. the building looks a bit dated and worn on the outside but clean is the most important factor for me.

"BW Gold Rush "
Tamara B, 12 Juin 2016

The hotel is older with a comfortable vintage feel in the lobby. Staff was pleasant. Our room 110, on the first floor was clean with newer led lighting that is harsh and sparatic. The room was also very hot but, they do provide a fan. The bar next door had Electronica type music thumping trough the wall from around 10:00 pm until 2:00 am. The metal fittings in the bathroom vibrated and made noise and the bar patrons were directly out my window talk yelling and smoking for most of the night. For the amount paid I will probably find somewhere else next time. If you do stay here, ask to not be on the northeast end near the bar.

"3.5 stars, great location, great staff"
Kimiko Y, 05 Juin 2016

Stayed just one night here en route to Dawson, but no complaints! The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. My only complaint was the paper thin walls! I might have had an elephant in the room above me! All in all, i would stay here again.

"Location"
LoriOshawa, 04 Juin 2016

We chose this hotel for location. Was nice and close to downtown area for sightseeing. also the free shuttle too and from airport restaurant and lounge attached was very convenient and we enjoyed the entertainment on the weekend.

"3-star standard"
kceesse, 25 Mai 2016

This is a 3-star hotel and they charge 3-star prices, so I have learnt to not expect too much for it. Stayed here as part of the Northern Tales Tour for 2 nights. Pros - Good location in downtown area with some restaurants nearby - Shopping is very convenient - Large and comfortable rooms and bedding Con - The noise! The music from the saloon is very loud in the afternoon/evening, and I could hear it directly on my 2/F room and since this is not a tall building, I think it is not an isolated case - The smell! Parts of the hallway on 2/F just doesn't smell pleasant. Just smells like grease exhaust or something like that, and I don't know where it is coming from - The hotel is generally very old, worn down, vintage feel, and very 1980s. I feel that it is due for a renovation - Broken computer and printers at 2/F lobby - The saloon (only hotel restaurant downstairs) has friendly staff, but the decor and the vibes is a bit weird - Reception desk not always staffed - The hotel provided airport shuttle (even though it was booked before-hand) was quite full upon arrival and it was unable to pick up the additional guests who were also booked on the shuttle. Overall, it is okay property. I wouldn't particularly recommend it, but I understand that sometimes it is part of a tour package and you don't really have a choice. And I don't think Whitehorse has any 4 star or above hotels, so this would be a safe bet.

"Whitehorse Best Western needs a RENOVATION"
laurelinmss, 12 Mai 2016

Overall experience was ok, staff was great, hotel was clean but the decor and overall appearance needs to be upgraded. Inside and out this busy hotel really could benefit from a complete upgrade, its old out of date and run down.... But it has a really great location in downtown Whitehorse and is walkable to everywhere.

"Excellent"
Kelly B, 14 Avril 2016

Excellent choice. In my experience this is the best hotel from a location comfort perspective - great beds!. Very good value! The restaurant also agreed to a special request which was much appreciated! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Good place to stay in downtown area"
Cynthia R, 13 Avril 2016

The room was fine. There is live music in the Gold Pan Saloon from Thurs–Sunday night. Depending on where your room is, you may or may not hear the music. I heard it but wasn't bothered by it. The rooms have a TV, mini fridge, microwave, and wifi access. Nice location as you are not too far from various restaurants and stores.

"Pretty awful TBH. "
Harriet H, 12 Avril 2016

Very tired decor, overpriced, unfriendly welcome, no help at all offered with our very heavy bags! Rooms, tiny and uncomfortable. Ours had a crazy double bath taking up half the space. Ran it but it left a green murky line all around the bath on the waterline. Yuck.

"Nice hotel in Whitehorse"
Cindy D, 11 Avril 2016

Rooms were quiet and beds were comfortable. Each room contains a television, microwave, and refrigerator. The baths are nice - look newly renovated. Very comfortable place to stay. Seems very safe too.

"Good for a night"
JamesOwen, 11 Avril 2016

This place is not fancy nor does it try to be, buts its a great place in the centre of town close to everything. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed before we headed out to the resort for lights viewing

"Plane cancelled due to Weather and had to stay"
FederalMom, 10 Avril 2016

Our plane was cancelled due to poor weather in Ottawa, so we had to find a place asap. My son had told me that he had stayed here several times - and Best Western has never disappointed. the front desk person was kind, courteous, accommodating and super friendly - he even upgraded us!

"Good hotel"
srodday, 08 Avril 2016

The hotel is located on Main St, which is very convenient to shops and restaurants. The room is a good size, with refrigerator and microwave, hairdryer and free wifi. No room safe though. Hotel offers free shuttle to the airport. Thurs - Sun (I think), the attached restaurant has live music 7:30pm-10:30pm. I am not sure if it is year round. Anyway, you can hear the music in your rooms. It didn't matter as we were going on a Northern Lights tour but be aware if you are a light sleeper. (I did ask an English group if it bothered them as they were wreaked from travel and skipped the first night of the lights, but they said no, they were too tired.) Anyway, I would stay there again. Note, rates go up in the summer tourist season which starts in May.

"Vintage atmosphere with modern room"
D P, 05 Avril 2016

Very nice clean modern room in a hotel that has a very vintage gold rush atmosphere and layout. Our room was very quite and the bed very comfortable. They also have a larger parking lot right next door which helped with our truck and trailer. Great breakfast in the Saloon downstairs and again, I love the Canadian option of the sliced ham as a side.

"NOT MY FIRST OPTION"
liliannaavila, 04 Avril 2016

The hotel is ok and the location is very good, but it is a very noisy hotel. I could hear the steps and the water running from the rooms above and next door. People at the reception desk were very nice, but the housekeeping was very poor. They have a restaurant where you can have breakfast until 11, but then it turns into a pub so our kids had to go to eat somewhere else! Not good.

"Great customer service"
totravel2016, 02 Avril 2016

In addition to being a clean, quaint hotel in a great location, the customer service at the Gold Rush Inn was fantastic. I made the dreaded mistake of forgetting my iPad in my room, and only realized it the next night in a different hotel, in the NWT. When I called the next day I was relieved to learn that the Gold Rush had found my iPad. They arranged to have it sent back to me through priority mail, and happy to say that I'm now using it to write this review a few days later. Thanks again!

"Fait choice"
Alain M, 01 Avril 2016

This is not the best hotel of all but better than many others in this town. Good bar (Gold Pan) with good foods and local beers selection. A little gym well equip renovate last year. Early 19' decoration in the lobby and the bar/restaurant, lots of Northen Antique charm. Just 2 minutes walk for down town. Not a lot of parking place. Employees friendly most of the time, but not all! The room Internet is slow and sometimes, no signal.

"Noise"
F7413WOjohnw, 28 Mars 2016

Hotel was in a good location. Located at one end of the main street. Lobby is very poor with little options for information. Breakfast is fine, nothing special, coffee is good. Room was nice but extremely noisy from up above. Just walking all night long. Seemed like staff quarters but told not. Recommendation would be staying top floor. Ask for front of building as the cook vent was just below our room and we could not open our window due to the smell.

"A Very Good Location for Downtown Whitehorse"
River55land, 22 Mars 2016

First, you will probably be staying here if you go in the winter to view the Aurora borealis. It's not the only hotel in town but it is the most centrally located. My first recommendation is to not stay here either Friday or Saturday night. It's perfectly fine any other nights, but if you come a day early to rest before your northern lights adventure, the Gold Pan Saloon (attached) will keep you awake. If you are viewing the northern lights on the first night, you'll return around 3:30 am and the bar will be closed and you can be the one to keep everyone awake when you come in. The rooms are clean, not overly spacious, but with the absolute most comfortable bed I've ever slept in a hotel. However, the walls are paper thin and you hear everything through the walls. I had a yappy dog whose owner left it for a night on the town and the front desk couldn't really do anything. If you make your own reservations, ask to be away from any dogs or the end of the hotel with the bar. If you book through a travel group (we did Brewster which subcontracted to Northern Tales) you'll probably be put on the second floor. I'm not sure the third or fourth floor is any better, but a couple of floors would not hurt to dampen the noise from the saloon. The Gold Pan Saloon is a pretty good place for breakfast and lunch. We never ate dinner there but it's probably pretty good for that. Where else do you go in Whitehorse in the winter except to the Gold Pan? They are innovative in getting people to come in and Friday and Saturday will give you a little taste of a gold rush town. After the saloon closed, the people simply funneled out to the street and kept the party going. There is a spa located at the hotel and they do a nice job. I had a "relaxing" massage (they don't seem to do deep tissue) and the hotel has adequate wifi that is free (at least with our package). You are located on Main Street where most of the stores have not left for the "burbs" and you are in easy walking distance of most stores. To be honest, I wouldn't normally have stayed a second night with all the noise and I looked around for a second hotel, but they all had bars attached, so it would have been the same thing. What makes this a good place is the very comfortable bed, free wifi, a restaurant (saloon) on the premises and the center of activity for northern lights viewing.

"Great Location"
Ken J, 15 Mars 2016

The facility was typical of Whitehorse in that is was not fancy. It was clean and the location we terrific. We were within 4 blocks of the Yukon River and most of the downtown shops and restaurants. I would ask for a room opposite of the end where the bar and restaurant is located. We were out from 10PM -2AM watching the Northern Lights, but had we been in our room trying to sleep we would have had difficulty due to the loud music.

"Comfortable and central"
Smithereene, 13 Mars 2016

The lobby of this hotel is fantastic - oak panelling and tiny oak pigeonholes behind the desk that look right out of the gold rush era. Stuffed moose head on the wall. The actual rooms are way more modern and perfectly comfortable - even a cut above - just not as interesting as the lobby! Some nice additions - fridge and microwave, iron and hairdryer in the room, and there's enough plug sockets so you don't have to grope around behind the TV to plug your laptop in. The restaurant/bar is OK, pretty lively/pretty noisy depending on your outlook. Walls and floors are not at all soundproof, though I found it quieter than sharing a house with teenagers! Top floor is quietest but costs more; I asked for (and got) a room as far from the bar as possible. You can hear your neighbour running the shower, but it's not raucously loud.

"Great hotel and location. "
Steven T, 13 Mars 2016

Outstanding, funky hotel in downtown Whitehorse. Great bar and restaurant. Great staff. Good laundry room and machines. Walking distance to shops and the river walk. Airport shuttle. I have stayed there the past three years and have enjoyed it each time.

"Cosy Place"
Ella C, 06 Mars 2016

This is not not a small hotel but it certainly feels like one. Friendly & helpful staff, great food & pub, & a warm comfortable rooms with good amenities & very clean. They also can store your bags for the day.

"A Hotel with 'Character' right in the Middle of Whitehorse"
BirthdayBoy60, 04 Mars 2016

Although part of the Great Western chain, a very individual hotel. Situated on the Main Street in Whitehorse it is spread over 4 floors with well appointed rooms. The Bar/Restaurant is on a sports theme with TVs showing various sports and games - being Canada this was mainly Ice Hockey and Basketball ! The food was good, generous portions with a wide range of wines and beers. The hotel has lots of character and was an ideal base to explore the area. when we stayed at the start of our holiday and when we returned there for a further single night at then end we were given a free upgrade to a luxury room with Jacuzzi bath.- much appreciated

"Perfect stay"
KelownaKimmi, 22 Février 2016

This is a great hotel, well located, clean, quiet and comfortable. It's not new and the elevator is slow but who cares?! We had a great stay. We'll stay again next time we're in Whitehorse. The restaurant was fine for breakfast. There was entertainment in the evening but we were up on the third floor so we didn't hear anything.

"Had a fine three night stay"
SandTrap629, 17 Février 2016

If you are looking for a five start hotel, this isn't it. But if you want a nice clean hotel, with friendly staff and a good restaurant/bar the Best Western in Whitehorse is a good place to stay. The only negative thing we experienced is it is an older hotel so the floors squeak and the person over us was a little heavy footed. It didn't keep us awake, but you did know when he was moving.

"Character hotel"
OttawaMlr, 16 Février 2016

The room is decent and clean. My room was on the 4 floor and the elevator was not working. Weird washroom, huge sink and no counter space. Appreciated the fridge and microwave. The dining room was very busy, lots of choices .

"Beautiful old hotel"
PinkyLace, 16 Février 2016

I would recommend this hotel since its location is at the heart of the city...although its old but the front desk staff has been accomodating ....and the wifii was excellent. Overall we can never complain...thank you!

"not a family friendly place"
Phyllis W, 14 Février 2016

the hotel does not have a family friendly restaurant ,it was a sunday morning at 10:30 am and was asked to leave the place because the bar was opened very early, every other hotel in Whitehorse has family friendly atmosphere

"Pleasant stay"
Denise J, 09 Février 2016

Even though this hotel is getting old it is very clean and tidy. The restaurant food was a pleasant surprise and well priced. Trips to the Northern Lights and other excursions can be scheduled from this hotel.

"Loved the look of the hotel"
Stephanie G, 31 Janvier 2016

Stayed here for three nights which was included in our Northern Lights package. Outside of the hotel really does make you feel like your in a different century. Very spacious rooms, and loved the moose head in the reception. Nice staff. Close to all the cafes, restaurants and shops. The Gold Rush Inn which is stuck to the hotel had lovely food, really enjoyed my first ever bison burger.

"Nice stay and comfortable"
CampingSonia, 17 Janvier 2016

Hotel was comfortable and I enjoyed my room. The restaurant was closed during my stay due to renovations. Staff was friendly and helped me call a cab and airport shuttle. No complaints. The cop shop was behind the hotel, so I felt very safe.

"Good location"
Selina T, 14 Janvier 2016

Had a room on the 2nd floor above the saloon. We didn't have a problem with saloon noise as we left at 10pm for aurora viewing each night and didn't return until 2:30am, after the saloon closing time. If this is in your travel plans, noise is not an issue. Beds were gloriously comfortable. There were some noise issues as the people in the upstairs room liked to run around and clomp around in heavy boots. I guess if this is potentially a very serious problem, request a room on the top floor. For me, it wasn't a problem. The pub/saloon food was better than expected. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the steak sandwich was perfectly medium rare. There was one server when we went for dinner on a Sunday night but food and drinks came out quickly. Location was good as it was less than a 5 minute walk to Starbucks and Tim Hortons and located right along the main street downtown.

"Comfortable enough"
Bob_the_cat13, 07 Janvier 2016

Like other guests the elevator was broken for the duration of our 4 day stay, so we could use one elevator to the third floor then had to take the stairs, a little inconvenient, but ok I guess.. Room was clean and comfortable, decent coffee, but had a really small bathroom and noise could be heard from many neighbours, even the ones across the hall... On the upside the saloon attached to the hotel is fantastic, great food, big servings and friendly staff. Be sure to get there early as seats go quick. Also convenient accommodation if you are going on any of the Northern Tales tours as they depart from the hotel and the offices are also located within the hotel. Had great service from Benita on the front desk, one of the people travelling in our group got exceptionally I'll and we had to extend our stay by a day and Benita was very helpful in securing us the same room we had been in to avoid anyone moving. Whilst there is limited accommodation in Whitehorse, this proved very comfortable and convenient. There is also a free shuttle to and from the airport and free wifi.

"Perfect accommodation in Whitehorse Canada"
David K, 06 Janvier 2016

We had a family white Christmas in Whitehorse Canada and stayed at the Best Western Gold Rush Inn. The location of the accommodation is ideal and the accommodation itself was great. It's on the main street, rooms are clean and functional, there was a good gym, a saloon bar a restaurant attached (we had good breakfasts and takeaway dinners), the reception staff were always friendly and accommodating AND the tour organisers we used (Northern Tales) had their office in the hotel as well which made changing and making excursion arrangements easy. Loved our stay and if we were ever to go back would definitely stay there again, but might ask whether they had rooms with a kitchenette facility because you can get sick of eating out all the time.

"Room was great!"
Christine A, 02 Janvier 2016

The elevator was broken during our stay so we had to drag our suitcases up the stairs. Not a big deal though. The room was clean and comfy. It was also decorated nicely. Do not leave any valuables in your vehicle!!! We had several items stolen from our car in the hitel's parking lot.

"Creaky floorboards"
Racheloise, 18 Décembre 2015

We were rudely awaken by guests staying on the upper floors who kept stomping and running amok in their rooms at all hours. Sounded like a rhinosauras stampede...oh wait, wrong continent, we are in the sub-arctic region, not in Africa! Unless the guests were bisons themselves. Made a noise complaint to the front desk who said they couldn't do anything about it. The rooms were good sized and clean. I was NOT impressed by the staff at the front desk who did not know how to use the computer system to check out guests! Half a dozen of us waited in line for a good 20mins waiting to be served. Lucky we were all due on the same airport shuttle; hence the driver was kind enough to wait for everyone.

"Comfortable and Convenient"
Fergs52, 18 Décembre 2015

Good size room, very comfortable. Good bar, food Ok, but lacked some variety and imagination. Excellent choice of beer Bar used by locals which gave it atmosphere. Entertainment good. Centrally located and very convenient

"Missed the mark"
924kyleg, 14 Décembre 2015

All staff we contacted were extremely rude. We were not greeted when we came in at all. The desk clerk was on the phone. There was no "I'll be right with you" or any acknowledgment. When that call ended, he took 2 more calls back to back before acknowledging us 15 minutes later. He was very rude and short with us while checking us in. He expected us to sign the credit card receipt for double the room charge without explaining what the charge was for. He should have explained before we had to ask why the charge was so much. When we asked, he just replied "hold for incidentals" still didn't explain anything at all. He also notified us, that since we reserved a King Room, that the King Rooms were only on the 4th floor and that the the elevator that goes to the 4th floor was broken. He told us that we would have to use the elevator that only goes to the 3rd floor and walk all the way down the hallway to the staircase in order to access the 4th floor. I understand that mechanical things can break. However, it is how the business accommodates its customers during the mechanical failure that matters and the Best Western Gold Rush Inn miserably missed the mark on that step. They did not offer to help us with our luggage, they did not offer a room on a lower floor, nor they did not offer a discount on the room due to the inconvenience accessing it. The parking lot is also a shared parking lot with a pay to park lot and is about a half block away. It was small and does not accommodate large vehicles very well, kinda of an issue since I was in an F-350. This is something that should be noted on the website. The parking lot to the door was icy. A little bit of ice melt would go along way and could save someone from an injury. The room was okay but I feel the room was sub-par compared to the price point. I could hear loud people from the bar down stairs all night and was unable to get a very good nights sleep. Many things they need to address at this Best Western location, I've stayed at Best Westerns all over the US and I am even a rewards club member and have never had an issue with one until now.

"Horrible!"
Jennifer G, 13 Décembre 2015

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night. The staff was extremely rude and tried to double charge us for one room. The hotel is in bad shape and needs extensive repairs and updates. If we had not made a reservation ahead of time, we probably would have gone somewhere else. Definitely would not recommend this place!

"A clean affordable place to stay in Whitehorse"
Don S, 09 Décembre 2015

Located inn the middle of Whitehorse is this historic hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable but nothing spectacular. No free breakfast was offered. For the price and considering where we were I feel the Best Western Gold Rush Inn was a decent value.

"Great room"
S P, 09 Décembre 2015

The room was very nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff and the management there are all great. Prime location close to everything. And the pub was really fun, super busy, and great food.

"Updated since my last visit"
cassino, 01 Décembre 2015

It been a few years since I Have been to the Best Western Gold Rush inn. The room my group stayed in were all renovated. They were nice, with new bathroom, TV, and furniture. It was a pleasant 2 night stay in the hotel. Lobby was still the same, but I guess this is the charm of the Gold rush Inn. There is also a free airport shuttle from the airport and to the airport. they are coordinated with the flights.

"Great king bed, solid sleep, good location"
MattyFitzAK, 21 Novembre 2015

Not much to say. Lobby/elevator stuff is kind of a drag but you can't beat to location in central downtown Whitehorse. An easy walk to plenty of good dining options (we had a good meal at the Burnt Toast Café just a few blocks down). Also had some live music in the hotel bar, waived the cover by showing our room key. Nice perk. Our room was spacious and the king bed was wonderful. Bathroom kind of small but perfectly serviceable. Recommended.

"Very clean and comfy!"
517kathryn, 11 Novembre 2015

The rooms are lovely with very comfy beds and renovated bathrooms! The elevator is a little quirky but kind of adds charm to this hotel. Good Pub food and ice cold Yukon Gold beer on tap! My second time staying here!

"Gold Rush Saloon"
Michael B, 11 Novembre 2015

Authentic Yukon feel to this hotel, the saloon is perfect for the establishment. Modest in size but very comforting! Deer antler poutine was quite unique! Live entertainment was great! Hotel staff very courteous and location very convenient in downtown core.

"A nice clean place"
Gordon H, 09 Novembre 2015

It's a typical hotel, nothing to rave about, but nothing bad either. It was clean, warm, and quiet. I was on the fourth floor and didn't hear a thing. The elevator is incredibly slow, so get used to walking up and down the stairs. The hotel was nicely situated downtown, so we walked everywhere. Good hotel to stay at when in Whitehorse

"Off season"
70Brian44, 05 Novembre 2015

Hotel has been completely renovated since I stayed there last. Rooms now have air conditioning, although we didn't need it. Good location. Restaurant wasn't open, but full menu in the lounge. Food was excellent as was the entertainment! Unexpected for a Sunday night. Local couple and good music! Only complaint would be that the cleaning staff took a long time to get to our room. Didn't get it cleaned until 4:00 PM each day.

"Quiet get away "
Patricia D, 01 Novembre 2015

I got a spacious, clean room in a quiet corner of the hotel for a very competitive price. This was a great time to visit. There is a restaurant on site that serves a delicious eggs beni. The hotel is in walking distance of many other service and attractions. Three sushi restraunts, a great noodle house and even Tim Hortons, Starbucks and a great local coffee shop are close by. Across the street is a local herb shop that sells teas and lotions made from native plants. Down main street are a variety of shops that sell clothes and house wares. My favorite is a toy shop at the end of the street. Across the street from that is the river walking trail that shows a glimpse of the Yukon beauty. I have stayed in many accommodations in Whitehorse, the Gold Rush is my favorite.

"Great service, tired decor..."
Shara G, 21 Octobre 2015

This was an enjoyable stay. They hotel could use some attention/updating. My fridge made noise in the middle of the night so I went to unplug it… When I pulled in I saw not just a small amount of dust, but YEARS worth of dust and dirt that hadn't been noticed let alone taken care of. The carpets also appeared to not get that much attention. However, the bed was comfortable and the staff were rock stars. Also, I have mobility considerations and therefore requested the accessible room. I would say that this was executed by someone trying their best, but the accessible aspects were not quite delivered to "code" from my experience. It is still a climb in tub and the handles available are in awkward spots, plus the tub chair barely fits in the tub and didn't feel very secure.

"Stay Here when in Whitehorse"
Laurie S, 14 Octobre 2015

Awesome Service and the rates were great. Lobby brings you back in time to the Gold Rush Era from the front desk to the elaborately painted elevator door. The restaurant turned out delicious meals and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Main Street provides lots of opportunities for shopping (maybe too close because it was easy to get gold fever in the jewelry stores)

"Western stil saloon with clean and quiet rooms"
980saskiaw, 09 Octobre 2015

The Hotel makes you feel you have stepped back in time. Nice Best Western Hotel with clean and quiet rooms, nothing fancy but ok for a middle class hotel. The location is very central, all shops, restaurants and bars can be reached on foot. Front desk staff was very different - once extremely friendly and helpful, the second time not really interested. Good breakfast in the saloon, no high end cuisine, more burger stil but good - try the eggs benedict.

"Good location "
Surrey30, 30 Septembre 2015

Stayed here while traveling the Golden Circle. Very nice and clean. We were able to walk to the riverfront and also all the shops my wife loves. The elevator operated with the use of the room key. I liked that security. We were able to open the windows and lean out to see the northern lights. Beautiful.

"Great location and nice staff"
Natalie&Chantal, 26 Septembre 2015

Whitehorse has beautiful natural scenery but this hotel is like stepping back in time. Free, fast shuttle from the airport was appreciated, especially the friendly driver. Great location on main street with shops and restaurants steps away. Building facade is classic klondike-style. Decor is rustic, woodsy, a bit tacky, but welcoming. Nice view of mountains, sand cliffs, and sunrise/sunset from room. Staff at the desk are nice. Bar has a good selection of beers on tap. Decent space and free weights in the basement gym, but camera monitored by front desk was a bit creepy - must be there for safety reasons. Enjoyable stay if you adjust your expectations - this is the best hotel in Whitehorse, but average compared to other cities. Prices are surprisingly high in the Yukon.

"Friendly and Comfortable"
papawildcat, 25 Septembre 2015

We stayed here twice over a three week period in July and Aug. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, quiet and well appointed. WIFI was fast and free. Hotel is located close to several good restaurants as well as one adjoining.

"Good location "
DonCarlos001, 25 Septembre 2015

Stayed overnight while driving through Canada. The hotel is located in the downtown and within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and even a very nice dog park. We didn't try the restaurant, but it always had a few patrons. We had a very spacious two bedroom suite that was more like an apartment. Really wish we could have stayed a few days since the hotel and area seemed very nice. This would be a five star review if not for limited parking, we had a full sized truck and small trailer and I wouldn't try anything bigger. We parked beside the hotel in a small gravel lot, but it is not dedicated to the hotel so it fills up quickly. There is the occasional panhandler, but they were not intrusive. We would stay again.

"Great!"
Havovie, 14 Septembre 2015

Very central location, good room - we had a jumbo sized jacuzzi tub with jets! Hotel was going through some rennos so nice to see they care about upkeep.... only complaint would be that the elevator was SUPER slow and very hot in there. Wish the free breakfast was available... otherwise great time!
