Description

Dear guests, we would like to welcome you to our homepage. Since 1806 the Grand Hotel Russischer Hof, located in the heart of the city, has been a place of hospitality and encounter. Personalities of Weimar Classicism such as Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Hoffmann von Fallersleben, Clara and Robert Schumann, to name only a few, appreciated the then 'noble inn'. Keeping the long tradition alive is an obligation for us today to offer our guests individual and contemporary service. Here the shoes of our guests are still cleaned and the cars are parked and pulled up again by us. Bellboys are available 24 hours a day for your stay to provide services that have been forgotten in modern everyday life. The Grand Hotel Russischer Hof combines tradition and modern comfort in a symbiosis of hospitality. Albert Voigts (General Manager) and employees.

"If it was good enough for Franz Liszt..."
polruanlad, 16 Mars 2024

Loved my stay here. The Russicher Hof feels like a hotel from an earlier era (as indeed it is), yet with every comfort of a modern hotel. The rooms are gorgeously furnished and the staff was impeccable. No wonder Franz Liszt took up residence here. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, especially since Weimar is such a magical and interesting place.

"Beautiful Hotel with a Historical Feel to it"
Melissa0106, 28 Août 2023

Stayed for two nights, perfect location for exploring the town, comfortable beds and pillows, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Some interesting large old tapestries in the reception and dining room area. Car parking charges could be cheaper, though.

"Excellent choice in Weimar"
helenbrum, 30 Juillet 2023

Beautiful location, lovely old world grandeur in lobby, restaurant, and bar areas. Excellent staff, especially Kerstain and Alina. Loved the historical section rooms in the hotel. Clean, nice linens and very comfortable beds.

"Modern Retro"
radulescu201, 06 Juillet 2023

a very nice hotel, in the center of Weimar. Polite and helpful staff. Room was splendid, Breakfast was great. I hope I'll come back one day. and they have these little cards with quotes from Goethe, Schiller, etc. it‘s a nice touch. there‘s no room service

"Top service, Top accommodation, Top location"
planet-wolf, 12 Février 2023

Top service - very friendly stuff, that cares and fulfils any needs Top accommodation: rooms with sofa, internet, perfect bathroom, good mattress, pillow selection Top location: directly in the city center of Weimar

"Great stay!"
553elissas, 27 Juillet 2022

This hotel is older but still nice as it retains its old Europe charm. A pants press was in the room! And the bathroom is very European/small. But it was just for one night for us. We had a great Indian dinner nearby and loved the coffee across the street in the morning. We lost power when we plugged in a phone charger to an outlet but a worker quickly fixed the breaker box. One tip- when opening the door, turn the key right and hard to open the door! :)

"wish I had not stayed here"
jml712, 19 Octobre 2021

The drilling started at 7:30am. I am listening to it in the room as I write. The hotel is currently in the middle of a building site. When we arrived at the hotel two evenings ago, large machinery was breaking up lumps of concrete outside the front door and directly beneath our historic room. We were reluctantly offered a downgrade to a quieter room, with no reduction in price. The staff seemed unconcerned about the issue. As I've been typing the drilling noise has intensified in the "quiet" room. It was audible throughout the day yesterday when we spent time in the room. We were advised by the hotel a couple of days in advance of our arrival that there were some building works in the area which we were assured would not affect our stay at the hotel. Getting in or out of the hotel involves going through a building site. I wish we had stayed somewhere else, and I wasn't wasting time writing this review.

"Friendly staff but not worth the koney"
608maikf, 25 Octobre 2020

We stayed in a room in the old building. It had the charm of the 19th century. Our room was so quiet - that was a mega plus! The bed was very comfortable and the room quite spacious. The bathroom appeared rather old and would need a refurbishment. We would like to point out that the staff especially during breakfast handled the situation very well given the limitations due to Covid-19 restrictions!! Overall though the value for money is not the best as you can better hotels for a better price

"Top location, friendly service, good breakfast.... but decor is a bit dated....and"
FOL-1003, 28 Septembre 2019

.... the issue is with the rooms. The beds are clean bzt tge matresses are worn out, soft or just hanging in the middle too low. The resraurant is closed, but there are good offerings in town, so no worries

"Majestic!"
MariaMcGuinness, 23 Septembre 2019

Truly a grand elegant hotel. Room was serviced to perfection. Staff professional yet friendly. Excellent central location with bus and taxi accessible. Unfortunately, the restaurant was under maintenance so we can't comment on the food. Breakfast is available but we chose to eat elsewhere.

"quality and style"
wiltingbas, 04 Septembre 2019

Grand Hotel is correct. Fine location, fine facilities, fine service. Everywhere in Weimar is walkable; although the station is a stretch. Helpful staff; great breakfast and good public areas. We liked the bedroom and the bar area.

"Comfortable traditional and central hotel"
sjhHove, 23 Juillet 2019

This is a comfortable, traditional hotel in the centre of town. It's 10 minutes from the new Bauhaus museum, and a short walk to the centre of town. Our room was a reasonable size with comfy beds, a good size wardrobe, safe, a small but pleasant bathroom with bidet, lots of hot water and good products. The hairdryer is pretty weak and the shower over the bath is a bit tight if you're tall or large. Otherwise I think 23e for breakfast is far too expensive and there are a number of places a short walk away that do a good breakfast at a much more reasonable price. Otherwise recommended.

"Lovely, central hotel which has retained its style"
keithmalin, 14 Juillet 2019

We had 5 great nights at this hotel, located bang in the centre of town and easily accessible by car for loading and unloading. The grand frontage, stylish entrance area and public rooms all give an air of refinement and character. The standard double rooms are fine, if a little on the small side, but everything works as it should. Lifts are efficient and rooms well noise-insulated. The wi-fi is free and OK, although it did regularly drop out. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and excellent service. My only reservation is that I sent the hotel two e-mails with specific requests before we travelled, first in English and then in German. Neither was answered, and the reception desk did not feel like apologising for this. Parking at the hotel costs a sweltering 25 euro/night, but there is a completely free car park only 10 minutes walk away in Hermann Brill Platz. There are buses to and from this (5 and 8) if you don't fancy the walk. Lovely hotel, would definitely return.

"Inadequate AC"
John K, 09 Juillet 2019

Inadequate AC—we were in Weimar during a heat wave, and the AC couldn't cool the room. The breakfast is also forbiddingly expensive (23€ pp)—although there are plenty of cafés a few steps away. Otherwise, this is an excellent hotel. The room was comfortable, and perfectly quiet (ask for a room off the street). The staff seemed a bit stuffy, but it might just be that their English wasn't very good. We slept very well here, and would consider coming back—but not in July!

"Very Good Central Hotel"
TorstenR53, 08 Juillet 2019

The Hotel has been flawless in check in and check out. The room was very spacious and well equipped. To service and cleanliness there is no objection. The hotel location is perfect to arrive by car and walk the city. Parking and breakfast is find quite expensive in comparison to other hotels in Weimar. We enjoyed the stay over a splendid weekend.

"Brush up... your hotel"
LiALiliG, 04 Juillet 2019

It's a charming place, at least the facade and also the grand old rooms in the main building. The standard rooms are rather small, a bit run-down, with truly well used mattresses - a fact that all members of our party (a team of conference interpreters working in Weimar at a big congress) complained about. Swapping / changing rooms proved to be difficult, even paid upgrades were impossible, since the hotel claimed that it was sold out (in spite of the fact that the booking machine on the hotel website showed availabilities in superior categories). Anyway, we had the impression they at least tried to offer better rooms (or mattresses), and it did not really work out. Another downturner were the equally used and cheap plasic shower heads, and the fact that in order to take a shower you have to climb into the bathtub. The usual breakfast problem many better hotels constitute you experience at the Russischer Hof, too: Breakfast costs € 23.00 (and although it is not bad, it definitely isn't worth that much). In addition, we had to have breakfast in a very dark corner on the way to the kitchen, since the daylight breakfast room was only opened much later. A pity! We opted for a quaint little café for breakfast downtown for the rest of our stay. I had stayed at the Russischer Hof twice before, and I am sad to note that apparently it is going downhill. My whole impression did not improve given the fact that the manager of the place, after having requested and received my feedback for inhouse evaluation, only sent a very short reply saying "Sorry you didn't like it" (which I understood as "Why don't you book elsewhere next time?"). I might. However, I need to stress that the reception staff and housekeeping at Russischer Hof were very friendly and helpful. No complaints at all, here. And the human factor definitely counts!

" Very nice hotel"
BPK123, 28 Juin 2019

Stayed 6 nights in November 2018. Very nice hotel. Room and bathroom were small but cosy and with a small balcony looking at the side street. Excellent breakfast. Staff were friendly. Everywhere is within walking distance.

"Old World (sort of) Hotel"
rolliese, 22 Juin 2019

The hotel motif is that of old world as the history is rich. The rooms are quite nice yet absolutely NO air conditioning. Most days it was 26-30 and the room was extremely hot upon returning from work. repeated requests to leave the drapes closed were ignored. The location is excellent as there are several very nice restaurants, cafes and bistros close as there are many Weimar historical buildings and museums.

"Good location, rest is below average"
CYTT, 13 Avril 2019

The good: The location of this hotel is very convenient (that's why we picked it). The doorman is very helpful and friendly, luggage service and valet parking worked seamless and quick. Besides this the rest of this hotel is below average (and does not justify the price). Maybe we had just bad luck, but our high category room was facing a backyard parking lot and ab un-renovated neighboring building with empty beer bottles and rubbish on their balconies. Definitely not what you want to see for two days, so we had to keep the drapes closed all day. The interior is out-dated and the beds way too soft (or old and saggy). The bathroom offers a bathtub where you have to stand in to take a shower. Although clean, the facilities are also aged and low standard. The breakfast buffet and premises are average, while the choice of these and cereals is below average. Anyway the staff was friendly. When back to Weimar, we will not stay there again also we will stay away from the Best Western brand in future as we feel it does not reach up to a certain standard.

"A wonderful luxury place to stay in Weimar"
esanh24, 03 Février 2019

It could be one of your amazing experience by staying over Russische Hotel when you are in Weimar. Just you should bear in mind that during Zwiebelmarkt (mid October) and 1 May here will be super crowded and might be noisy.

"Weimar!"
Coastal579504, 11 Novembre 2018

What a lovely, convenient hotel..perfect location and beautiful rooms. The staff was very helpful and friendly and efficient. We could walk everywhere.... The rooms were always clean and well equipped. We would definitely stay there again!

"Your neighbor: Goethe and Schiller"
AndreasTravelling, 26 Octobre 2018

Just two minutes away from the famous Goethe and Schiller statues you'll find a hotel right in the middle of the city with spacious rooms, friendly staff and a adequate breakfast buffet. The poets are present in your room, at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Worldly wisdoms for a successful day...

"Holliday"
S4260DKmarcosm, 14 Octobre 2018

Hotel was very good and a sevico of first, I was very well attended and the linpeza in the rooms and excellent, a break feast where caviar has, whenever I can I will go back. a fantastic hotel where everything is very worthwhile not to mention that the city of Weimar and a spatula apart.

"Very pleasant hotel"
Alex-e7sas, 08 Octobre 2018

Stayed here for 2 nights. The location of the hotel is excellent. It's 15 min walking distance from the train station and the bus stop is right across the road. The rooms are small but cozy with all the necessary amenities. The bed and pillows are comfy. The breakfast is probably one of the best breakfasts that I have had. The staff is well mannered but a bit more smile would not hurt. I found them to be a bit to formal and less friendly . They provided me with a city map and helped with my restaurant reservation. I would definitely stay in this hotel when next time in Weimar.

"Classy Hotel"
Curtis1099, 24 Septembre 2018

We loved our experience - user friendly rooms, modern bathrooms, clean, spacious and luxurious common spaces. Beds were comfortable and we were able to sleep well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Easy to get to and well-situated in town.

"perfect position but expected more from hotel"
alessandro p, 12 Septembre 2018

If you need an hotel right in the center this is hotel for you. checkin and checkout where pretty fast but what disappointed me was : Gym : it is totally not what they advertyze and picture. WIFI: connection drops multiple times .

"Very nice hotel in excellent location"
MariaDavidRobinson, 09 Septembre 2018

Nice modern and semi-luxurious hotel on one of the main streets and very central to all the sights. Rooms were very good with a really nice modern bathroom. I am not a fan of valet parking, but it worked OK. Though I did have to wait longer than I would have liked to get my car on checking out, and when the driver delivered it he must have thought he was driving a rally car the way he sped up to hand it over to me ! But would highly recommend, and very reasonably priced too.

"Best Western Premier Grand Hotel Russischer Hof"
Ron S, 23 Août 2018

It's one of those hotels which really corresponds to its name - Grand. It shows at its lobby, with marble and granite inlaid floors, and continues with its hallways and rooms. Beautiful interior design. The room wasn't large but decorated very tastefully. Good central location, easy to find. Very efficient and helpful front desk. They provide valet parking for €20. And in a final nice touch they send you a personal email afterwards.

"Excellent location, luxurious facilities"
Davor R, 18 Août 2018

We chose a luxury hotel for a single night, and were not disappointed at all. The location is excellent, the room was impeccable and the service was exquisite. It would be a five star review, was it not for a small glitch, the personnel addressing me improperly during breakfast, using "du" instead of "Sie" in German, which I expected being a (quite) adult person. A bit of improvement needed there... Nevertheless, I highly recommend this hotel.

"Great location, luxurious room."
GregB943, 14 Août 2018

Located right in town it was a pleasure to stay there despite the fact that we are not fans of luxury (which this hotel has in spades). A full range of toiletries added to the pleasure of our stay. The valet parking was a bonus.

"Perfect Location"
Kaisermichelle, 13 Août 2018

Great place to stay when visiting Weimar. Grand hotel with a small boutique hotel feeling. I love that they still have real keys, no key cards. The breakfast buffet has so many options, you will eat enough to have to skip lunch. The location is perfect, just outside the pedestrian zone. Definitely recommend for anyone heading to Weimar.

"Nice Hotel - Lousy WiFi"
Terry G, 09 Juillet 2018

This is a beautiful hotel with well-appointed rooms, in a good location, but it has LOUSY WiFi. If you're used to being able to search for "things to do" or "restaurants near me," you won't be able to do it at this hotel, which is unfortunate. The WiFi worked for about 1 minute, then cut out for about 5 minutes, over and over again. When I called the front desk to report connectivity problems, I was told that I was the only person having problems.

"Best western ? not like the US! 5 stars!"
MeuterMedia, 28 Juin 2018

this is a 4 star premium hotel. the front is restored to the old (Rushian Hotel) marble all new, wonderful small bar and wunderful breakfast area. special event programs starting at euro 179 p.person. but last minute bargains available. meutermedia

"Very good"
sarahpayne5888, 08 Avril 2018

Highly recommend very nicely presented and very clean. The staff were polite and friendly. Easy 10 minute walk from the train station also a bus stop right outside especially if you want to visit buchenwald. Easy to navigate around the streets too.

"Not your average Best Western"
Eric L, 28 Mars 2018

I have stayed in many Best Western Hotels in the US. However, the Weimar Premier Grand Hotel Russischer Hof, is unlike any I have stayed in. It has a classical feel to it, with very friendly staff, most of whom speak English. Their restaurant is elegant and excellent. They also have a bar, coffee house and breakfast area. My room was comfortable and also had a classic feel (I liked the art). Most importantly, this hotel is in the center of town. I was staying in Weimar to research Goethe and Schiller. I was able to walk to every place in town, including the Deutsch National Theatre. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I am thinking of bringing my family for a stay in the futrue.

"Weimar"
388brucer, 30 Octobre 2017

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay. The hotel was centrally located within walking distance to most sites. The room was comfortable and reasonably large...however the air conditioning was not adequate at night and we needed to sleep with the windows open to have fresh air.

"JEWEL BOX IN CITY CENTER"
jeromeoconnor, 26 Octobre 2017

Classically styled lobby and appointments begins with appealing entrance in this small, almost boutique, hotel. Best Western in Europe is completely different than in the US. Air-conditioned, 32 inch flat screen TV with CNN. Free Wi-fi. Consider as the best in town in all respects. Everything in this compact town is walking distance.

"A truly grand hotel"
Ken G, 05 Octobre 2017

The hotel is a truly beautiful building right in the heart of Weimar. Rooms are spacious and well fitted, and the breakfast was extremely good. One particular highlight was the politeness and efficiency of the staff, nothing was too much trouble

"Grand Hotel Russicher Weimar"
629David, 23 Septembre 2017

Stayed two nights as part of a JS Bach group tour. Really nice room on top floor facing countryside with nice outdoor balcony setting. Far higher standard for the price that you would get anywhere in a major city. Clean, well kept, highly attentive staff, good restaurant, etc. Town centre location close to all tourist sights, restaurants, transport, etc. Top place.

"Excellent in every aspect"
greedy60, 31 Août 2017

This is a very good hotel in a great location to visit the many attractions Weimar has to offer. The decor is stunning and sumptuous, rooms are spacious , quiet and superbly fitted out with everything one would need. The beds are very comfortable. The staff are thoughtful and courteous always there to help, they all speak excellent English.. The breakfast was very good with an ample choice. I didn't want to leave!

"Comfortable and friendly"
Chains99, 26 Août 2017

The Russischer is ideally located in the centre of the town; an easy walk to the main sights. The breakfast offered a wide choice including a glass of sekt for those who wanted. All the staff were very professional and friendly. All spoke excellent English.

"Sleeping like a baby..."
Tatiana H, 08 Août 2017

It is Such a great and comfortable hotel. Nice people, good breakfast. The wonderful rooms with big bath tops and confortable beds are perfect to sleep all night like a real baby. We are happy to be here.

"Pleasant surprise - fantastic hotel in this quaint city in Thuringia"
leonardm65, 09 Juillet 2017

Was visiting my daughter who was on a 2 week German course in Wiemar. I was not a Best Western customer-until this trip. Super elegant 4 star hotel, in close proximity to main attractions of the city and museums, restaurants. Luxurious breakfast, with a wide choice of German specialities- even if this is not cheap at 21euros/head. Room/facilities matching top quality! Strongly recommended for a weekend visiting Wiemar/Erfurt.

"A Wonderful Week"
Rogerlenander, 04 Juillet 2017

Stayed a week with our Reformation 500 tour group. What an excellent choice to get a good night's rest, delicious breakfast buffet, greeted daily by well trained and considerate staff, and experiencing different dining experiences. Walked out the door into the heart of this enchanting city with immediate access to transportation, shoppes, and walking park trails. We a re ready to return again with the family.

"Historic Elegance in the Heart of the City"
dutch2220, 29 Mai 2017

There is absolutely NOTHING not to love about the Russischer Hof. From the excellent and friendly welcome to the amazingly beautiful rooms, you will definitely feel in the midst of luxury. I booked a single room at the last moment during a very busy time in Weimar. Even though they'd been fully booked the night before my arrival, they made every concession to get me an early check-in without additional fees. For this weary traveler this was very much appreciated and, frankly, much needed! Location? You simply cannot be more central - everything Weimar has to offer is within a short few footsteps away. You're definitely in the heart of this amazing, historic city. The room was on the top floor overlooking the beautiful landscape of Weimar. I actually preferred this to a city view and being able to relax on the private balcony was a true pleasure. A single room is quite spacious with a gracious entry, desk and work space, a cozy nook with a lounge to relax before bed, and a huge, fully outfitted bathroom. The bed was firm without being stiff (my preferred), and the bedding wonderfully soft. I was also pleased with the large amount of amenities that come with the room. Soaps, shoe polish, rivers, slippers, lotions - nothing was lacking and I felt quite at home. The welcome gift of mineral water and light snack was an additional unexpected treat! Although Weimar isn't lacking on restaurants, the breakfast at the hotel is an absolute MUST. The offerings I am sure vary according to season, however during my stay it included boiled eggs with cream and caviar, a huge variety of fruits and breads, cereals, veggies, scrambled eggs, Wurst - the list goes on and on. Suffice it to say no matter the dietary needs one will not go away hungry! Five stars out of five and needless to say I will be returning once again to enjoy the wonderful hospitality!

"Friendly Excellence "
smmalone2015, 10 Avril 2017

The Best Western Premier Grand Russischer Hof offers consistent, impeccable, excellent service while maintaining a warm and friendly atmosphere. I appreciate the balance of a warm, homelike presence of the staff with the elegance of a beautiful property managed at the highest level of excellence. Sometimes the efficiency of a property as tightly managed as this one can create a sense of cool distance. On just my second visit the staff greeted me by name. My interaction with the staff has continued to be warm and inviting at all levels. When one travels alone, at a great distance, and away from family, the atmosphere and service at a hotel can make an important difference. I appreciate very much the difference this hotel makes in my travels. I am not sure if the phrase offers the kind of semiotic punch I wish it to convey, but "friendly excellence" captures something essential in what I hope to conceptually signify when I remember my stay at this property.

"Good stay, very friendly staff"
Zenaidasworld, 19 Février 2017

The location of the hotel is ideal for attending the opera and visiting the many sights that Weimar has to offer. I had a very nice room on the top 4th floor with a little balcony. Extremely clean. Very friendly staff. Also good restaurant (reviewed separately). Very interesting history of the place. Many antiques in the lobby

"Very Good Hotel "
Marabou676, 22 Janvier 2017

The hotel has a great location, directly in the city center. Within 5 minutes walk you can reach all highlights of the city. The hotel is beautiful it has a very historical design. We stayed at a historical room. The design is great you feel like in old times never the less the equipment is new. The room was huge, beds are very good and the bathroom was as well clean and nice. So we can recommend to book this room type. The hotel as a bar, a restaurant and a cofe place. Parking is also no problem. You have a parking place just behind the hotel ( 2 minutes walk). In case you plan to visit the city you should stay at this hotel.

"Has ambition but can't achieve it"
KeithParker1949, 18 Décembre 2016

This hotel holds a 4* SuperiorDEHOGA rating (first class), it is a shame that the management cannot live up to it. We arrived full of headcold so felt it would be unfair to other guests to eat in the restaurant. We therefore availed ourselves of room service but did not fancy the English menu in the room. However, information in the room said we could also select from the restaurant menu but this was only in German. I therefore asked room service for a translation of the German menu only to be told by the person on the other end of the phone that she has too much to do and had no time to translate the menu. Five minutes later, there was a knock on the door and a restaurant menu appeared - in German. I do not call this first class service! We also required a gluten free menu for my wife and was told at reception to fill the card in in our room - this we did and sure enough, gluten free rolls were available for breakfast when we went down next morning. There w s also a substantial breakfast waiting outside our room when we returned which remained there for most of the day even though I told reception that they had made a mistake. The room seemed very good when we first arrived but although information stated that tea making facilities had been made available together with a hot plate for those wishing to cater for themselves, the room only had 2 mugs and no cutlery - I presume guests have to provide for themselves! The bathroom had a sink with a large crack in it and the standard of cleaning was more 2* then 4*. Our room cost £375 for 3 night - to this we had to add €19.50 per night for car parking and €19.50 per person per night for breakfast (twice the average in Germany) - it was explained to us that we could have caviar and champagne butthat sounded a little pretentiouse. I don't think we will be returning! This hotel has a no-smoking policy and there is a surcharge of €150 if one smokes in the room. As the bar openly sells expensive cigars, I asked the smoking policy in the bar. I was told that the smokers could smoke in the adjacent cafe after 6pm when the general ppublic had left (before this the strict no-smoking policy is enforced) - is this not double standards. This is not

"GORGEOUS hotel!"
Rose-Antoinette B, 30 Novembre 2016

Really everything about this hotel is so fancy, clean, and upscale! The staff really sets the bat high - they literally bend over backwards to accommodate their guests. I actually lost my wallet in the small coffee shop attached to the hotel, went about my day and didn't realize it was missing until much later. I saw I had a missed call - the hotel called my phone to say they had found my Louis Vuitton wallet (which was FULL of cash may I add). I ran back to the hotel- it was safe behind the desk, and not a dollar had been touched. I thought for SURE it was gone for good - this hotel is so honorable and respectable in how they do business. Can't recommend this hotel enough!! You won't be disappointed.

"FANTASTIC - Wonderfully Historical"
sharon33191, 24 Novembre 2016

Beautiful hotel - very historical Have a standard twin and it is lovely. Can't believe all the "comforts" at a very reasonable price. Extremely upscale decor and furnishings. Lovely modern bathroom. Meals horribly expensive though 19.50 Euros for breakfast. Just across the street is a Bake Factory for a very good coffee and pastry breakfast for less than 4 Euros.

"friendly and quiet"
Christofer A, 13 Octobre 2016

Good location, friendly staff. My room, supposedly "double or twin" was relatively small, and would have definitely been tight for 2 people. Very quiet however (4th floor on the rear side). The fitness room is very small and underequipped.

"wonderful hotel, awesome sleep quality"
snokie, 13 Octobre 2016

great hotel in a perfect location. Professional friendly staff. Awesome room, wonderful bathroom, sleeping comfort one of the best I have had in all my trips around the world. They also had a kind of pantry kitchen hidden in the room. Dogs allowed but not in the restaurant or the breakfast area. Anyhow... in case we come back to Weimar, this will be our first choice for another stay. The price is not too high compared to what you get.

"Beautiful historic hotel."
margiespr, 03 Octobre 2016

This hotel is in a central location, convenient valet parking and walkable to everywhere for lunches and dinner. We booked a suite which was quite spacious with a powder room as well. The staff at reception could not have been more helpful and almost the entire staff spoke great English. Sindi and Max were particularly helpful. Loved the breakfast even though I only had it once.

"Nice property poorly managed."
Mark G, 30 Septembre 2016

The hotel building itself is classic, though the lobby is poorly decorated; and the location is good. The rooms are quiet, even the ones facing the main street and bus stops. The main problem is the management. During my stay, the a/c wasn't working (the room was hot), the air quality was poor, the bathroom scale's battery was dead, the curtains didn't function properly, the wifi was dreadful -- only working intermittently, the fitness area's steam room was broken, etc.. The bathroom light had one setting -- blindingly bright, like a supermarket. The real shocker was no a/c and no internet. The front desk clerks acted surprised about it, but I think they are fibbing and the problems are endemic. When I asked to speak to the manager, they told me he took the weekend off, and usually didn't respond on his cell phone. Never again. A small point: this is the one hotel I've stayed in where they don't offer a free bottle of water.

"Quiet rooms, friendly staff, perfect location"

My room was small but very quiet and perfectly appointed. All the staff was dedicated and super-friendly. If I have a quibble it was that the wifi was intermittent (but the hotel was completely full and everybody had computers). Also room service was limited and there wasn't a lot of guidance about other meal options. But all in all I was very comfortable and very happy (and I'm a tough critic).

"Fantastic location, long history and great comfort!"
michael w, 16 Septembre 2016

The name and address tells already a lot. This grand house smells of luxury, culture and great history. Just to mention: It was here Liszt was living when he was still the extrovert and glorious top artist of his time. When you enter the lobby, you feel at once the good atmosphere and friendliness of this hotel, and you see that this is really good old luxury style. Everything is perfect here, and especially the breakfast is a very welcoming and friendly experience. Where else have you seen that all cooked eggs have a hand painted little face on it, and where else did you find a little piece of paper with some nice words from Goethe on each sitting place in the breakfast room? The location could not be better. The old city starts just across the street and you have the best possible starting point to explore Weimar. The hotel has also a very charming café where you can rest and just watch the people passing by, being served with all you could ask for. It's the second time we were here, and we will choose that hotel again next time in Weimar. Very recommendable.

"Quick stop at Weimar"
Monica S, 12 Août 2016

The hotel is just great! The only catch is that if you want to have breakfast, it is very expensive. But the location is perfect, so it is easy to find other options in the morning. Weimar is not a place that has a whole lot to do, though.

"Great location"
rosalinds538, 11 Août 2016

This historic hotel is in the centre of Weimar, beautifully appointed and within easy walking distance of all the sights. The only tiny complaint we had was that the Fitness centre was small and airless. Otherwise, a really lovely find!

Nice and steeped in history. Splash out on a suite. Huge balcony. Big bathroom. Old style opulence. Do not expect modern, this is the old 'Grand Hotel' of Weimar where all the celebs from the glorious past stayed and partied. Right in the center of Weimar.

"Very nice "

We had a very nice stay in this hotel. It is a very good location directly in the city center of Weimar within walking distance to the relevant historical places. It was especially nice to make a morning run through the 'Park an der Ilm'. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite and our package also included welcome drinks which were really good cocktails in the bar. The room was really spacious and the towels were nice and soft. Only drawback is parking which is quite expensive at 19,50 Euro. However, it is quite easy to find parking for free which requires some walking. It took us some time to get the information from the receptionist.

"A great hotel in a great location"
schatz44, 08 Mai 2016

This hotel has great rooms, a good breakfast buffet, a little expensive, but normal for Europe. Location on the edge of the old town is excellent. Staff friendly and informative. Parking is expensive but also normal for European cities. You have to use the valet parking option. Don't try to do anything else. The hotel has a nice bar but the restaurant offers fixed price menus only. You can find great food within a five minute walk of the hotel. Staff helpful in making recommendations. Ask for a upper story room not facing the street. That way if you need to open the windows to be comfortable at night you will not be bothered by the street noise. We loved the room, the location and helpful friendly staff.

"Welcome to 1976"

This hotel is in a perfect location if you intend on staying in Weimar .... Clean & comfortable. It is a complete throw back to the '70's. Had to upgrade my room to a suite as a "double or deluxe" room is laughable. My suite was very large, comfortable with two small twin beds placed together, tiny bedding .... a serviceable spot but not luxurious by any stretch. Bathroom was spotless but hadn't been upgraded since I was in high school. Front desk staff are polite but don't seem to be interested in their jobs. No English newspapers. Huge mediocre breakfast buffet. Bright spot was their dining room - an excellent dinner experience. Wonderful food and service.

"Pleasant stay, but negative experience with booking by Thomas Cook"
SpaceTravelerHH, 02 Avril 2016

Excellent check in, valet parking (20 Euros), very friendly service, sumptuous breakfast, however standard rooms are somewhat small, about 180 sqft, but this is fine for 2 days, there may be some noise from the square in front of the hotel, central location, excellent cafe with very nice decor booking through Thomas Cook was a disaster 1 double and 1 single room were booked at the same time and with the same credit card but only the double room was available when Thomas Cook was called the answer was that the single room had not been reserved, no reason specified, no e-mail was sent

"A place like home - just better"
AllaroundAsia, 17 Février 2016

A class of its own in Weimar. Old fashioned in the most attractive way: A willingness to serve the customer as good as possible, which has vanished from so many other places, is to be felt from the moment of arrival throughout the whole stay. The team at the hotel is really outstanding: helpful, knowledgeable and always prepared to attend to the guests. The rooms are spacy, tastefully furnished, immaculate clean and well maintained. Breakfast is fabulous, during the day the coffee house lures you in with coffee specialties and chocolates, the restaurant (Anastasia) is an excellent choice for dinner and the Romanow Bar is well stocked for a night cap at the end of the day. Do not miss!

Hotel ticked all the boxes. Easy valet parking (18 Euro), great location in the middle of the city, clean, quiet, nice staff. Grand entrance and big family room. Nicely decorated room (mix of modern and classic, much like the city of Weimar!) with TV, safe, minibar, good airco and very comfy beds, grand bathroom.

"Beautiful hotel"
MVCorey, 21 Octobre 2015

This hotel is beautiful, in a perfect location, and gives a feeling of quality and luxury. The breakfast is pricey but well within other hotel breakfast pricing standards, plus it adds champagne and caviar. It was a very pleasant surprise in a town we knew nothing about. A nice stop.

"Memorable, Outstanding!"

Thank you fellow Trip Advisors. I read your reviews of this hotel and booked it for our visit to Weimar. I took your advice and reserved a room in the historic part. Yes, we did have a large chandelier in our large room, a beautiful armoire and other furniture, and a bathroom with a shower to die for! We looked right out on the square, but thanks to the double windows, our room was super quiet. As for the elevator to our room, the art deco gold/black/mirrors made me feel like I was in a 1920's silent film. We never saw housekeeping; the room was just always perfect. The concierge was so helpful with every question, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. By the way, we took the tram from the train station, and our hotel was right across the street from the tram stop. We did not sign for the breakfast buffet, as I tend to eat lighter at breakfast, so we walked to Residenz Cafe [see my review for that], and it was perfect for us. This hotel is a winner!

"Very comfortable, great location"
3rdrocktraveller, 13 Septembre 2015

Very good room with good facilities. Breakfast was pricey so we ate out at a very nice Italian place down one side of the Rathaus. Bit overbranded with 'Best Western' everywhere, including on cushions. Would be nicer to lean more on its history for that.

"At least it has air conditioning ...."
Churchillswit, 06 Septembre 2015

The hotel has a history and some nice touches. But overall, it is a decidedly average place. Slow and indifferent service during our stay. The hotel tends to be overrun by large groups. When that happens you are basically on your own. Price is OK.

"Perfect location"
Amanda H, 13 Août 2015

I stayed in Weimar for one night and found this to be a great hotel. The rooms were very comfortable, and (thankfully) included AC as it was quite warm outside. The location is perfect - just cross the street and you are in the city center/car free area of cafes and shops. The hotel staff was kind and accommodating, especially Axel on the day I left. He remembered my name, held my bag for me, and helped me find a place to charge my rapidly dwindling cell phone - all after I had already checked out!

"Great historic Hotel"
SilkeW1982, 18 Juillet 2015

A beautiful hotel! The rooms in the historic wing are fantastic. We booked a Junior Suite and were upgraded to a regular suite. The hotel is perfectly located - you can reach all interesting parts of the city within a 5 min walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You have to try the cakes in the "Wiener Kaffeehaus" - delicious!
