    « How Many Times.... »

I am not sure how many times we have stayed at this motel. We have family in Melbourne. The day's travel to Wangaratta is enough for us to get to the lovely regional city of Wangaratta in enough time for dinner and then continue the next day. I have no idea how many times we have stayed at Warby Lodge, but it is quite a few. We have a room next to the office. Habits apply to many things, including accommodation. So we go there. It is on the main road, at the end of the shopping centre and you can continue straight on to Melbourne. The facilities a spotless and I do like having that little packet of biscuits that not many places provide. We also enjoyed going to the restaurant next door, which was closed in October 2016 for new owners and renovations. We shall enjoy going there next time. If you want a stroll, there are two magnificent cathedrals in the vicinity, the Catholic and Anglican Cathedrals are very close to the motel. And for the mundane reality of life a huge Big W one street away....which I always pop into before hitting the road!

« Such a lovely and clean place to stay, very comfortable. »

We stayed overnight, as we needed to be up bright and early to do the Ned Kelly CHase run, the man who checked us in, was so interesting and friendly, and we had a great chat. So close to Apex Park, so glad we stayed here. Thank you.

    « Adequate for a stop over »

Pretty basic, although some rooms have recently been upgraded. Bed was comfortable but not great. Wifi was a bit unreliable. The positives: it's close to the main street for restaurants, and the river walk and reasonably priced.

    « Quiet and clean »

We stayed one night in October and i liked the set out of the room. The Bed was comfy. We had a room with a big spa in it. Price was reasonable. There was a pool but it was too cold to swim. Central to shops. Well lit.

« Weekend stay for business »

Stayed here for a couple of nights for business, the rooms are comfy and clean, the rooms we had were further back in the complex so away from the main road and quiet enough. Could do with a modernisation as its a bit dated but met our needs, many of the TV channels did not have great reception.

    « Very comfortable »

Really comfortable beds - had great sleeps. Large room with microwave, toaster and kettle. Pleasant staff who didn't have any issues helping me out when I locked myself out of my room. Only thing that would be helpful would be some plates/bowls and cutlery, there were only coffee cups in the room. Overall very pleasant and comfortable stay.

« A little overpriced for the outdated rooms - Comfortable Stay though »

When stepping into the rooms you feel you are heading back to the 1980's. For a regional motel the rate of $128 for a Saturday Night was reasonable but the rooms could do with a full upgrade to enhance the guest experience. Overall the cleanliness of the motel itself was very good. Maybe a little more friendlier a greeting would help and being our first time in town maybe recommending some places to dine at rather than us having to go through the tourist brochures would have been nice.

    « Absolutely Average - Just »

A rather dated facility, cold, dreary & not staffed with the best customer minded person at the time. I found car parking next to room doors somewhat of a potential safety hazard if kids were about. The wall hangings in reception area seemed all on one theme (photos of old diggers) - something more generic would be in better taste I think.

« Rude bad attitude from staff »

On arrival walked into reception to check in. the guy eventually came down stairs, with no Hello, or any greeting, and I said I would like to check in and presented my printed Best Western confirmation. he looked at it, grunted and said "do you want that back". then proceed with the booking. I had booked for 1 adult, but at the last minute my partner decided to come, which I filled 2 adults onto the check in papers. He was miffed, and said we charge extra for 2 adults its not what you booked. I said "fine", but little explaination was given. No niceties like "that good or here for work, etc". then just handed the key. My partner has a dog,and it sleeps in the car. When the manager saw the dog he came fast and without any discussion bluntly and rudely with attitude said something like "no dogs in room, not at all, not at any time" and turned around and stomped back to office. At check in he was so rude, but this added to it. We were ready to walk out and stay at one of the good motels in Wangaratta. there are 2 within a few doors away. WARNING TO NOT STAY HERE.

« Blast from the past »

Reminds me of road trip motels when I was a kid. Nothing has changed. Simple but convenient. Close to main city centre with lots of cafes and restaurants. Large clean rooms offer a good night's sleep and first thing in the morning easy access to Hume Hwy to Syd or Melb. These motels were once the back bone of towns along the Hume and I think they are now becoming revived. Maybe a new trend is slow travel - turn off the Hume and smell the country air.

« A place to saty at reasonable prices »

My wife and I stayed here recently for two nights. The price was very reasonable, however there is no restaurant so meals had to be obtained elsewhere. The room is dated but very clean. The amenities in the room were adequate for our purposes. The "bar" is not cheap so beware of the prices there. The bed is solid and both of us believe it or not had good sleeps. The male person can't think of his name at present at the office is very pleasant and nothing is a problem. The breakfasts are very good and are delivered within the timeframes that you state, however beware of "add on's" pricing. Would we stay there again, yes as it basic but really you only put your head down to sleep. Also beware of the drop between the bathroom floor and the shower base and it also slopes towards the drain plug. Overall a comfortable place. The hotel has wifi but I didn't use it, I think you would have to ask for the password and most likely you will be charged for it. There is no conference room if you were thinking of having one there. there is a question below which asks "Is this a Classic Hotel" well yes it is if you only want to stay and sleep, in a sense it is classic in that sense. The hotel is close too the city centre and is also close to the "take away's of Kentucky fried, McDonalds etc apparently there is also a good Chinese restaurant adjacent to the hotel in in walking distance.

« Showing its years but always get looked after »

I travel for business frequently and whilst this establishment is showings its years you always get looked after. Mini bar has a selection of drinks and the guys make a great breakfast. It lacks cable tv but the internet speed is adequate if you have access to a streaming service.

    « Worst Motel Experience »

Was set up in the Best Western warby lodge for a recent work visit as everything else in Wangaratta was booked out. Darryl (who was in charge) is the single most rude and arrogant man I have ever dealt with. Absolutely disgusting customer service, and will answer the phone with a grunt every time. The rooms are also not equipped with Eating utensils or Crockery, and God forbid you ask to borrow any. Yet the rooms supply a crappy miniature microwave, toaster and kettle (go figure) The shower heads hardly even disperse water and both times the water was cold. I also had random clothing items appear in my room in the evening as if someone had intruded and left their belongings in my room. No sense of security. The over all experience was super uncomfortable and I couldn't have been more thrilled to move my business elsewhere when the chance arose. 0/10 Would not recommend

    « Lovely! »

Great place to stay when visiting this area! Close enough to restaurants and cafes but quiet and peaceful! The rooms are well appointed and clean! The hosts are very friendly and helpful! They recommended a restaurant for dinner which was lovely! Will definitely stay here again in the future!

« Probably generally fine, but inclined to overcharge if the opportunity presents. »

Having read some of the other comments, I thought Id add my experience which seems to gel a bit. I did the wrong thing by mistakenly booking this motel ie it was not even in the right region in Victoria (Wangaratta instead of Warrnambool). While I was almost certain I'd booked for the Warrnambool trip, when the time came I couldn't find a reservation for Warrnambool anywhere and rebooked. I became aware of the Wangaratta booking when the property (doing the right thing) called me. I was booked in for a stay starting Saturday night and we spoke Sunday morning (I'd missed a call Saturday). At this point I let them know my error and that we wouldn't be arriving.and were not in the region. Ultimately, while the T&Cs stated any no shows would be charged a fee equivalent to the first nights accomm (which is perfectly reasonable), we were charged for the entire stay. I was given various reasons for this, including that they still had to hold the room the entire time in case we did show up! We found this all pretty disappointing, including as they were not fully booked and obviously wouldn't incur any housekeeping/laundering/etc costs for us. So I cant comment on the motel facilities, but just flagging to travellers to make sure you are cognisant if you are making any changes or have any issues, it may not be a good outcome at this property.

    « Welcoming overnight stay »

I arrived late in the afternoon and was greeted with a beautiful clean room, with everything I needed for a restful night. The bed was so comfortable, a lovely deep bath to soak in, and the hosts so welcoming and easy going.

« Stayed one night on business »

Stayed here one night on business as it was the closest to my work budget. Clean rooms, friendly service. Fairly recently and reasonably renovated. Probably the best value in town for the budget I was on. Central to everything. The hotel is next to a primary school. If you don't like the noise of kids in the morning don't stay there. Didn't bother me at all. I work with kids and it was a happy sound of kids playing. It's also on the main road but I didn't notice any road noise at all.

    « Wouldn't stay again »

Service was poor- slow and unfriendly. When booking the website said Foxtel and room service however neither of these are offered at this hotel. They also couldn't provide any gluten free breakfast options. The walls to the rooms as so thin you can hear everything from all the rooms around you and outside. Rooms are dated.

« Great place to stay in Wangaratta »

We have stayed here twice & have found the motel very good on each occasion. Good location within walking distance to town & local services. It is quiet & located on the main road so it is easy to travel out for day trips to the surrounding areas.

« Fine for the night »

Stopped for the night for work. Owner gruff but pleasant. Room ok, worn but bed comfy, clean and shower hot. Intrigued as my colleague's room next door was much more up to date than mine. Did renovations stop there? Close to Main Street and dinner. Tip: The espresso coffee on the breakfast menu is not. It's one of those very ordinary coffee bags.. Real espresso however, is available with a three minute walk to town. Thank goodness for the central location.

« Old world Charm - Impeccable presentation and service »

While on the main road this motel is very quiet because the through traffic is non-existent thanks to the city bypass road. The room we had was stunning - it was a 2 bedroom suite with a separate sitting room. All very spacious clean and above all, comfortable. The free Wi-Fi is fast enough to use streaming download to watch movies. It is just a short walk into the city center where there is a wide range of restaurants to choose from. Finally, ample and secure off street parking is provided.

    « Close to Everything »

NCJC-MW and Malcolm A - My wife and I have seen the two sides of the owner. He was surly on arrival and when we asked for an extra towel for my wife the air became chilly. however, after spending a minute or two being friendly seemed to pay off as he became friendly and stayed that way for the rest of our stay.... The room was clean tidy and cleaned beautifully during our stay. We had breakfast on our final day and it was filling and enjoyable. Would I stay here again? Good question, for its location and accessibility to shops, and restaurants most likely.

« Rude, disgusting and just terrible »

I stayed here for one night, and I have to say this was one of the worst places I have ever stayed! On arrival the male owner was rude and wasn't prepared to provide us with our free breakfast provided with the room and written on both my booking sheet and his! After agreeing that we would pay for some of the breakfast I let it go and moved on with my stay. The town is lovely by the way. The room is ok, but it's a little run down and dirty. When breakfast arrived at our room they gave us the wrong drinks, which is no big deal, but I do not like tomato juice, so on check out I gave back the unopened drinks and explained to the owner that he accidentally made a mistake, he shook his head and told me "the people who got the orange juice didn't complain" I proceeded to check out and he told me to pay more for the breakfast than what we agreed. He was speaking very rudely and I asked him if he spoke like this to all his customer to which he replied "no just you" I was shocked as I wasn't talking rudely to him (and even if I was this is no way to talk to anyone) I would not recommended this hotel to anyone.
