Best Western Wakefield Hotel St Pierre

Staff were excellent, room not quite up to the mark. Room really needs an overhaul and update. Noise from neighbouring rooms was also an issue. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Parking was very convenient.

I cannot believe I'm writing this review, but here we are!!! We have stayed here plenty of times and never had an issue. It meant that much to us that my partner and I booked our wedding here. Everything was going great but a few weeks ago I noticed on social media they had gone quiet and posted nothing. But thought nothing of it at first, now at 38 weeks pregnant I find out my wedding is cancelled…. Through my Auntie, not the hotel, my AUNTIE!!! They didn't even have the audacity to call me. All the while, last week the wedding coordinator reassured me it was ok for guests to start booking rooms!!!! They must've known. If she'd not rang I'd still not known!!! We are truly devastated. Luckily for us we have found another venue at a lovely manor in Leeds. A lot CHEAPER!!! So a blessing in disguise really. Mel the head wedding co ordinator didn't even seem arsed when my partner Stuart rang up to see if what my auntie was saying wasn't a misunderstanding. All he got was a “it's nothing to do with me” well I'm sorry but it's a lot to do with you!!! Please avoid this place when or if it should reopen!!!

Just a couple of days before my reservation I rang the hotel direct for some more information about the booking and then to be told that my reservation was cancelled because the hotel was closed. No information was send to me about this. I had to go and find other accommodating so I could still attend my daughters wedding party

A quick overnight stop as I had a meeting in Leeds the following morning. The staff at this hotel were all incredibly friendly and really helpful. Due to some delays I arrived in the middle of the night but was still able to get checked-in thanks to the night porter. The breakfast was great and the overall stay was amazing value for money. The hotel is a bit tired in places but the bed was comfy, the shower was hot and the view out of the window across the fields was an unexpected bonus. I stay in a lot of budget chain hotels in the course of my travels. This hotel was comparible in price, but a much nicer place to spend the night and definitely with a better breakfast.

We had a two night stay whilst visiting friends and attending a christening. Saturday night we ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious, friendly service and the food was fresh and hot. Got talking to a few couples in the bar and had a lovely night. Sunday night we hadn't realised there was no food on but the staff Mel and Caroline couldn't have done more to help us as we had been out all day. They offered to make us pizzas and even give us local takeaway details if we didny fancy pizza. We finally settled on a Chinese but when we rang they couldn't deliver and Caroline drove us there to collect it. An example of going above and beyond for your guests. We were even able to have a late clock out in case we needed it before out journey home. The staff couldn't have done enough and really made the experience at this hotel thank you. Hotel room was spacious, comfortable and clean only thing I would change would be the pillows they were very hard and uncomfortable but it didn't spoil our experience at the hotel. If we are in the area will definitely stay here again

Lovely room .friendly staff. Breakfast was disappointing. Everything else was good. Very peaceful location, and lots of walks to explore. Room was warm and bed extra comfortable. Will visit again. Four star

I stayed 3 weeks in different rooms and cannot complain about any, all the rooms were clean, had plenty of space, free Wi-Fi and the option of room service. The staff here however are outstanding! More than helpful and welcoming, will go the extra step to help you out if/when they can and the service is quality. I Always came back to a clean and tidy room and items left behind were returned. The food menu has a wide variety and tastes great. Great place to stay and definitely will be returning again.

Staff were very obliging after pointing out the summer weight duvet, with minus 3 outside. Room was comfortable as was the bed. Pleasant stay all round. Restaurant was a little middling, usual pub fayre.

Our recent stay at this hotel was superb, The staff were all lovely and the food was amazing. I came along with a group of 60 people for an event and had a lovely evening meal as well as a buffet breakfast in the morning! I came down early for breakfast and it looked amazing... i've put pics on of it too Complements to the Chef and breakfast staff, The girl at reception was so helpful too. The room i stayed in was nice and very clean, was given extra towels when i asked too. Bed was nice. Close to newmillerdam too so good location and they have a car park infront of the hotel so parking is easy.

A lovely atmosphere and genuine staff who are warm and welcoming the place has the atmosphere of how it used to be before the world went into a rush of stress. This place is peaceful and private in the perfect setting for any occasion. yo can have walk through the woods to the lake call for a pint at an old character stone pub walk back eat at the hotel enjoy the beautiful rooms the nice staff. This is no hassle and bustle hotel its really relaxing and welcoming and you won't get better unless you spend double and even then you may just about get similar.

We were looking for a place to hold a family get together to celebrate our wedding that we had in Jamaica. We spoke with Mel at St Pierre who found the time to speak with us, despite us turning up without an appointment. Mel talked us through our options and we were delighted with the packages offered which enabled us to invite 30 family members for a wedding breakfast and 75 evening guests (we invited 125 at no additional cost). The cost of the package was extremely reasonable and I believe the best value in the area, particularly when you consider the location the venue is set. Mel gave us lots of help, advice and assistance. We literally had no idea. There was no pressure to buy. We purchased the wedding breakfast package and Mel began with all the options, table arrangements, backdrops, split rooms, sashes, chair covers. It was quite bewildering but welcome advice considering we had no idea what we wanted! The cost also included the bridal suite which was lovely and big. Literally nothing was too much trouble for Mel. On the day the table was set exactly as we agreed, and the food was outstanding. A lovely 3 course meal with coffees afterwards which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. We then had to vacate to allow Mel and the team to set up for the evening. When they opened the room it was spectacular. Exactly as Mel described, her vision became a reality for us and it was truly special. The DJ was also included (Richard) who was brilliant, he took requests, kept people dancing and the next day we received lots of photos taken by Richard from the DJ stand which was brilliant! The bar staff were fabulous too and made sure people didn't have to wait too long for a drink. A fabulous day and night. The next morning breakfast was included, and the buffet hot and cold breakfast was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Because our family lives all over the UK it was great for them to be able to stay over in the same place and join in a lovely walk around the dam the next morning. We only have good things to say about St Pierre. If you are looking for somewhere to hold your wedding reception that is great value look no further. If you have no idea what you want (like us) go and spend an hour with Mel, you will have so many ideas to consider. Mel knows her job, she is clearly talented at planning wedding receptions and made our day very memorable. Thanks Mel. Carole and Mark

The St Pierre is very clean and the rooms are comfortable It has a nice bar area ,but the dining room is quite basic. The staff are welcoming and friendly and very helpful. We stayed for a Christmas Break deal and found it was very good value for money. The food was very nice but there could have been more vegetables. The breakfast menu had a good choice for the buffet but the full English was small . It was quiet but still good value.

The staff at this hotel are so friendly & helpful. Anything we needed for a busy New Year's Eve was attended to with a smile & friendly banter. The evening food & entertainment were also very good, & breakfast was delicious.

This wasn't our first visit here, but it was our first Christmas Day visit. There are so many positives relating to this visit that I hope I can remember them all. Communication between the hotel before today was excellent, and staff were always knowledgeable. We arrived 15 minutes early and we got a drink from the bar. The staff were efficient and friendly. We booked in at reception, and we didn't have to wait long until we were seated. The room we were seated in had a seating chart on the door, so finding our table was easy and also had our family name on the table, which we felt was a lovely touch. The adults were all presents with a glass of sparkling wine as we entered the room. The room wasn't overcrowded, which we appreciated considering the situation over the 2 years. It also meant families could have a more private feel with regards to their Christmas lunch. One of my concerns when booking was the 2 sittings. Only an hour apart. I didn't want to feel rushed for such an important meal as we have felt at other venues on Christmas day. I was assured that this wouldn't be the case and we could spend as much time as we needed. This was refreshing today as we were not rushed. We were given time to eat and talk without feeling pressured to finish, so the next course could be brought out. Each course was really tasty, it was a shame that I couldn't taste the liquorice in the starter but it wasn't enough of a problem to ruin the meal. Different members of staff served food and cleared the table, and they were all a pleasure to interact with. The lady taking drinks orders always made sure we had enough to drink, and orders were brought to the table quickly. I'd asked that my daughter be included in any santa gift giving as she's at that awkward age of not being sure if she believes or not, and this request was fulfilled and we were overwhelmed at the thought that had gone into it as normally a selection box is given in these circumstances. The table was also beautifully set with a centre piece and chocolates and nice quality crackers. All in all, we hope to return throughout the new year, and we would happily recommend the venue. Thank you for making Christmas a memorable one.

Arrived around 1pm and was allowed an early check in which was fantastic as I had a birthday party to go to at 2pm. Normal check-in is at 3pm onwards. Bar was open but the receptionist couldn't turn the pumps on so offered us a free tea or coffee. Evening time there was a Christmas party taking place in the bar area so it was very busy. I asked if I could have a couple of sandwiches and was offered room service free of charge Breakfast had plenty of choice and efficiently ran

We usually have a good stay here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean an fairly well kept, biscuit and refreshments always filled when used. This visit the lift out of order, which is a pain literally I have arthritis. But will be returning.

Nice friendly, staff,we was on the 2nd floor,lift wasn't working, but hay ho,not to many steps,corridor was dark and not very inviting. Room was nice and clean, but cold when we walked in,no heating in the bathroom,tiwel radiator, but it didn't work. kettle in room,only downfall ,not easy filling it with water from the tap,with them being so small . Don't think the restaurant was open,for evening meal,as there was a works Xmas party that night,so ended up down at one of the local pubs...Breakfast wasn't the best,I have had,plenty of juices,ceral, toast etc,but English breakfast, I would only give a 3 out of 10.ww both had a full English, but the sausages,was different!!!

We stayed here for a family reunion and the first impression was one of the Crossroads Motel, a step back in time. Rooms had paint coming away, loose taps, very old fashioned. Rooms were dirty and generally, the whole hotel lacked love and attention to detail. Breakfast was OK but generally, the meals were expensive for what you got. Staff...very helpful and this was a positive. Thanks to them.

It's very well past it's sell by date and desperately needs a refit. Therefore, it's not good value. I wouldn't stay again if I could avoid it. The staff do a good job despite what they have to work with. I'm sorry this review is a bit soulless, but it is truthful and mirrors the overall experience. (Soulless).

99% of the staff are excellent but the day time receptionist is awful! Ignorant and very unhelpful! Such a shame that one person can let a great team down! The other members of the team are cheerful and helpful

Stayed here as it was close to a party we were attending. Hotel was ok, corridors very dark and not very nice. Bed comfortable. Terrible breakfast but the staff made it a good experience, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay again.

Food not too special. Breakfast was poor for the price. Unable to sleep due to the wedding. People not attending the wedding could have been roomed at the other end of the hotel, instead of being roomed above.

Good location, decent enough room - a little dated but it wasn't really an issue. Good price for one night and free parking onsite (limited spaces). There was a wedding on at the time of our stay so we were a little concerned that the wedding party would be noisy throughout the night.. however, there was no noise from the wedding party, but from (what we can only assume) the staff above us. We were on the second floor and there didn't appear to be any rooms above us as the lift only went up to floor 2. It was like a herd of elephants until very early hours of the morning. We're not ones to complain but we'd travelled very early from Wales that day and went to a show in the evening so we were exhausted and could do without all the noise. To add insult to injury, we were awoken early by very LOUD talking and laughing right outside our door in the corridor. When we looked through the peephole of our door, we were gobsmacked to find it was the cleaning staff! They had zero consideration for the guests. We expect to have a relaxing experience when visiting any hotel, we can forgive noise from weddings/events that are taking place but you don't expect it from the staff of the hotel. It wasn't just for a few minutes either, they laughed and joked LOUDLY for a good 20-30mins! Lastly, before taking a shower, I was standing by the sink and the bathroom light fitting fell on me! Luckily, it only landed on my foot (which was agony by the way!) and not my head. We put the light fitting back as we didn't want to be blamed for anything, not what I expect to be doing when staying in a hotel (room 302 for reference). Upon checking out, we were hoping to raise the above concerns with the receptionist but they were sadly too busy talking in the foyer and we had to leave so I've been forced to leave this review instead. We won't be returning again, simply because we had the worst night sleep and sadly, this was due to the inconsiderate staff.

The room we were in, and I believe most of the odd number rooms on the first floor, had a lovely view of the back of a dirty roof, adorned with a fine selection of soggy cigarette butts. I think guests should be made aware that they might end up in a room with a total lack of any kind of view before booking. I would not have booked a room if I had known this. In general this hotel id devoid of any kind of character, whatsoever, unless you enjoy staying in a '70s sit-com filmset. The chairs in the bar area were worn and dirty; the table was sticky. Altogether, a depressing and unpleasant stay. The evening meal was fine; breakfast was plentiful and good. The staff were kind, pleasant and helpful.

First impressions? The bar area could easily be lifted from Blackpool Promenade, and the reception area was tired. The room itself was absolutely spotlessly clean but it was a bit dark and dingy, though the bed was excellent and the shower was great. Back to the bar, where the prices are nothing short of daylight robbery. £4.60 for a bottle of Peroni wad bad enough, but to then pay £5.50 for a pint of SHANDY for my colleague was scandalous. Breakfast looked great and I had a good bacon sarnie, but please turn the damn radio down in there.

I was staying with my daughter in room 208 and he mattress was in a very poor state, the pillows were hard and very uncomfortable. The room had dirt around the edge and the carpets were dirty. I was very disappointed with my first experience with a Best western and the amount of money you charged

hotel clean & tidy, but starting to show signs of old age, staff very helpful and friendly, cooked breakfast very good. its really a business hotel not one to holiday in, so wasn't expecting the ritz.

the hotel is a good place to use if you need to be near Wakefield. rooms are a little old and need a re-vamp. but overall the bed was comfy and the breakfast was very good. the price you pay is good for what you get.

I stay in this hotel occasionally and Best westerns frequently all over Europe. This hotel will no longer let you charge drinks/meals to your room so you no longer leave with a single invoice, not acceptable for a hotel of this stature and a part of an international brand like Best Western. Please resolve this.

Tired and dated hotel and rooms with very poor lighting in guest rooms and reception areas. Loads of light bulbs needed replacing so it was really dark in places. Good bar service. Reasonable choices for hot and cold breakfast. Hot water for tea kept running out, although staff acted quickly when asked. Hardly any choice of teas. Rooms clean, beds comfortable (our was larger than a super-king). En suite was fine and shower had plenty of hot water. Plenty of parking. For what we needed, it was pleasant enough and well-priced.

We have stayed at the BW St Pierre previously, as it is very convenient for where we need to be. It is still a good hotel and is still very reasonably priced especially in these economic times where everything is so expensive. The staff are very helpful, friendly and efficient and the breakfast is very good. Parts of the hotel are looking a rather tired and our room is certainly in need of a makeover. it was very dark, with dark scuffed wall paper and dark lampshades, which made reading very difficult. More lighting in general is a much needed addition throughout the hotel. However, everywhere was very clean and tidy and I understand from the receptionist that a refurbishment is due to take place soon. One other comment for management, I have a blue badge and am therefore able to use a disabled parking bay. When we arrived at the hotel there was another large vehicle in the second disabled bay, taking up a lot of space. Which meant we had to park in the only other disabled bay, but there is a large bush conifer tree next to the bay, making it extremely difficult to exit the car. The bush does not need to be removed (although that would be the ideal solution) but it should and ought to be pruned back from the bay as soon as possible.

The pillows were hard. The bed dropped in the middle where I lay I woke up with a terrible back ache. The noise from the wedding was horrendous kept us awake. The view from our window was a tiled roof.

Always feel welcome. The room is great and facilities are good. We can really relax there and get away from the stresses and strains. Breakfast was good with a wide choice of warm and cold food staff were lovely.

The extractor fan in the bathroom needs cleaning, clogged up with dust. Also, replacement toilet roll impossible to get to. Other that that we love the hotel, this was not our first time and won't be the last. Large car park, ideally situated for Newmillerdam. Very reasonable priced.

We've been going to this hotel for years now, always loved it. But this time, not so much. Bring Richard back! I feel for all the old staff, they've replaced people with the managers entire family. Prices have gone up and to be honest it's not the best decorated hotel and the rooms are falling to bits, but it didn't really bother us because we were always made so welcome, but not this time. Booked our usual rooms and it's never been a problem EVER in the 9 years we've been going (it was booked well in advance). This time though the new manager wasn't having any of it. So we didn't get the rooms we'd booked. Found out later from a couple staying there, they'd looked at several rooms and weren't happy, but the manager offered them the room we'd booked! Then when going to breakfast we wanted to sit under the light, where there was a place for 4. We just asked the young lady (the managers daughter) if we were OK to sit there. She said yes and she'd just clean it for us. Only for the manager to come out and tell us we couldn't sit there because it needed cleaning. We said we'd wait but he was having none of it. After we sat in another seat, not 2 minutes later the table had been cleaned and a couple sat there! Weird, it was like he didn't want us there. Mind he was very tentative to friends of his that were staying. It's sad because we went there almost every other month, we've started looking elsewhere now.

Was so wanting this to be a good stay, unfortunately it wasn't. Very, very dated rooms and not very clean either. The odour in the room was suspect! Now the staff were lovely and looked like they were very over worked. The room was just awful! If it wasn't for the fact we were attending a wedding, I would not of stayed! Breakfast serving times were 7am to 10am - we couldn't order hot food until 8am as they weren't ready! The cost at the bar was overpriced. Just a shame as the hotel is in a lovely area and has a lot of potential! Needs a deep clean and major updating. For the price I definitely would not stay here again.

Had stayed previous week and reported no hot water. Later reported water very tepid. A week later, in the same room, the water was still cold. Staff friendly but way way too over familiar ('darling', 'sweetheart', 'lovely'). This may be OK for younger guests but not for us. The overall impression was that the hotel does 'work' as such but has too many ragged edges (e.g. only one working card machine, a front door that does not close letting in the cold air and so on, no USB charging points in the room - not even in the mains sockets).

Not great, room was large but furniture shabby. Meals were just pub grub nothing you would expect in a decent hotel. Breakfast was OK but hurried by staff clearing the juices etc before people had finished eating. Wouldn't return unless they upgrade things s little. All very tired and dated.

Hotel generally a little tired and in need of some investment. Bar reasonably well stocked and car parking free. Breakfast was excellent. Not the cheapest. Staff were very helpful. Room was quiet and clean although there was no shaving point in the bathroom.

I visit the area frequently, and this how now become my preferred stopover. The hotel is quite dated but importantly its very clean, and the staff are especially welcoming and friendly. In the summer I lover that its near a lovely nature reserve to walk around in the evenings, and in Autumn its cosy, and feels safe a secure for a lone female traveller. Fantastic old school homemade chips too - comfort food!

I had 2 sleepless nights at this hotel - the beds are not comfortable and mine had a big dip in the middle. Very dated, simple hotel. On the plus side the staff are nice and breakfast was good. Area around is nice. Hotel could do with a big revamp.

I honestly can't rate this place higher . I turned to the hotel after being let down at short notice by another venue , and what a blessing is disguise it turned out to be . The service we received from Melanie and all her team was second to none . Right from me making the booking , through to the actual night, the staff couldn't do enough for you . They were all so polite , Friendly and down to earth . An absolute credit to the hotel . The function room was perfect too , very clean and comfortable. I was really pleased with everything. If I ever need another function room I'll never look elsewhere as this place has everything you need . I would highly recommend.

I book as working local and needed ev charge over night. The charger was busted which caused me a few issues. Other than that the hotel its self was fine. Good value if the advertised facilities were working.

Always a pleasure when I have to stay in the area to have my overnight stay here at the BW St Pierre. Home from home the team truly do look after you and nothing is too much trouble. It is appreciated and will always return

Never again! Dark, dirty and it smelt like someone died in there. The staff seemed preoccupied or vacant all the time and the place needs to be overhauled. It was seriously like a motel from a horror film. Dodgy electrics, dirty walls and woodwork, the bed was like it had been snapped and bodged bag together. Seriously find yourself another place to stay.

The hotel is a bit dated with decor and I found the bed uncomfortable as I could feel the mattress springs. There are weeds around the building and car park. It all gives the hotel an “unloved” feel. The food in the bar was okay, but nothing special, so only ate there once. It felt like the ingredients being used were basic. Staff were great, breakfast was excellent with a good choice of continental buffet and cooked, and the hotel was clean. This hotel has the potential to be really good, and if it had some money spent on it in key areas it would be.

Very good stay. Hotel situated in a nice area of Wakfield just past Newmillerdam. Rooms clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, food very good, and the breakfasts a real bargain ! Will definitely use this hotel next time we 're in Wakefiel

This was the second time staying at Hotel St Pierre. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and there was plenty of choice for breakfast. I would highly recommend the hotel and will definatly be returning again.

This was our second stay at this hotel, lovely clean hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, rooms a little bit dated but very clean and comfortable, we will be back later in year as have family we visit and this hotel is perfectly located for us.

Arrived and checked in, one room ready, one room not. Appreciate short staffed but not helpful when you've travelled half way across the country. Given keys and advised no other information. Would advise people to seek the information through reading yourself. For example, wasn't pointed out where the wifi passwor was or what time breakfast was or even what time check out was. If you get a room on the top floor, ask to move. We had the family room. Nightmare. A million degrees to hot, asked for a fan, never arrived. Blind was broken in the room, again, ask for it to be looked at/fixed, not sorted (another 5am wake up from my little one as the room was as bright midday sun. Breakfast filled a hunger gap but wouldn't bother again. Between the family party ordered everything off the menu, safest bet being the omelette. That said, staff were really friendly.

Another visit to the St Pierre completed and again was made to feel welcome by all the very helpful staff. Only one remaining issue which I think could be easily rectified ! Please revert back to the old way at breakfast where the customers doesn't have to stand and wait ages to make their own toast in the low quality toaster and then suffer warm coffee out of a flask jug The hot coffee in the little coffee pots was perfect and the toast used to leave the kitchen within a minute!! I don't understand why it changed

We stayed Friday and Saturday on DBB basis overall pleasant stay rooms clean and airy. Breakfast selection good as is evening meal, however at present the evening meal is served in the bar which on a Saturday evening can be very noisy due to wedding reception.

Used this hotel as was attending a wedding at a nearby hotel. A few local pubs just 10 minutes walk away. Clean rooms. Tasty, full English breakfast. Friendly staff. Parking in front of the hotel. Value for money price.

The hotel is in an excellent location for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth. The staff are friendly and it is very good value. The breakfast menu is varied and the onion rings at dinner are amazing!

Great little place. Fantastic reception staff, lovely staff doing the breakfast which was cooked to order and is by far the best hotel breakfast we have had in a long time. Rooms had everything you need.

Despite the promising location, and the fact that we had enjoyed a stay there in August last year, we were very disappointed with our stay. The room we were given was right above the ballroom where a very jolly wedding party was taking place. Whilst we are very happy for others to enjoy celebrating the wedding, we didn't enjoy the loud disco music through until 12.00 midnight or some of the wedding guests with more stamina than us who stayed up drinking, laughing and joking until 7.00 am! If we had been in a room at the back of the hotel, it may not have been as much of an issue - but the option was not open to us and we had not been warned beforehand. It also meant that the restaurant and bar food was not available to us that night either. The room itself had seen much better days: paint crumbling off the wall, a few large cracks in the bathroom sink, some stains of an indeterminate nature in the carpet, a broken chair, a cistern that failed to flush properly and the electrical safety tickets on the items in the room were dated as far back as September 2005! The breakfast was a buffet of fried things and apparently, a buffet prevented them from offering scrambled or poached eggs! All in all, not a place we will hurry back to.

Picked this place because it was close to the Yorkshire sculpture park. The mattresses were sagging, taps dripping, the breakfast room was dark and unappealing, no air conditioning. Staff were good but working with broken tools.

Stay at this Hotel recently, good value for your money but don't expect any think too fancy. No toilettes in the bathroom, I'm sorry but a hand dispenser over the bath doesn't count, when we enquired why they wasn't one by the sink we were told that the last guest had stolen it and they had no replacements. If it had been me I would have sent someone to the local shops to buy hand soap, just saying and one of our Party had their catalytic converter stolen from their car.

The hotel was lovely and staff was extremely friendly, The only issue was the room was boiling, the heating wasn't on and I opened the window and it never cooled down, but other than that it was lovely

It's in a beautiful and quiet location and the hotel staff were really friendly and made the stay even better. The rooms are spotless and have everything that you need. The rooms are a little old-fashioned but they will be redecorating very soon, so I will stay there again when I return to the UK. The bar, lounge and restaurant are lovely. The breakfast with so many things to eat was incredible.

Our daugher and her husband married here recently from booking the hotel to leaving the morning after the wedding the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble! Mel especially took care of my daughters requests for her big day and she guided us through the best way to make the day as amazing as we could have wished for, we found her advice to be fantastic, lots of little tips we hadn't thought of. We used the Room Decorating team that the Mel recommended (Thompson Towers) and they created rooms which were absolutely beautiful, we could not have been happier, all our guests commented on just how beautiful the ceremony and reception rooms were! Mel also suggested using the florist that the hotel also used which gave a seamless transition between the table decorations and all the wedding posies, button holes - everything arrived on the morning exactly as we had ordered, freshly made and beautifully arranged. Throughout the day nothing was too much trouble for any of our guests and everyone was catered for, the food was amazing, both in presentation and taste, again we had loads of compliments from our guests who were totally surprised by the food as it arrived to the tables. The evening reception was just as lovely, the DJ was recommended by the hotel, he accommodated our own play list and added to it lots of tracks to keep our guests on the dance floor! The evening buffet was fab, plenty of food and a good mixture so all guests found something to eat. We had many guests staying over, this made the wedding feel more like a weekend event, breakfast was lovely and lots of it too! We could not have wished for a happier day from start to finish, in my opinion, Mel is the diamond of this hotel for anyone wishing to have a wedding here, she works hard to make sure that you have a beautiful day to remember from start to finish. If you are thinking about holding a wedding here, I would advise to attend one of the wedding fayres that they hold so you can really see how the rooms can be transformed, these organised days allow you to speak to the decorating team, florist etc, but even then, until you see the room with your choices (colours, decorations, backdrops, signage) on the day of the wedding you do not realise just how beautiful it can all look, this is not just my opinion, but the opinion of very many of our guests who were just as impressed by everything on the day as much as we were. An added bonus of this hotel is also the location, Newmillardam lake and woodland is stunning, I cannot wait to see the wedding photos with the lake as the backdrop! A nice hotel to have a stay, nicely situated for walks etc and also the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.We only stayed for one night but the staff were friendly and helpful it was a lovely English breakfast , there is also a nice lake nearby and a lovely walk round it flat for easy walking.

What an amazing friendly and well organised venue I had my wedding ceremony and even do here on 5th and it was fabulous welcoming and caring staff my son is autistic and the all staff were amazing the food was put of this world and plenty to feed everyone All in all they are brilliant at making your big day the best It can be The wedding planner made sure it all ran smoothly and talked me through the whole thing keeping me calm And the bar man was brill I was still standing after ally guest lest he make me a nice drink to take my room to relax Much love to you all and thank you from me and my husband We will be back for are Anniversary

Very dated, food was awful. Staff were very friendly. There was a wedding in the function room which is next to the bar. Never heard such foul mouthed parents and children in my life. Children were running around the bar area whilst you are eating and the mess they left was awful.

Made a late booking. Realised I wasn't going to be at the hotel until 2:30 in the morning. I phoned reception. It was answered by Tracy reassured me. That's a 24-hour reception. She was very friendly and professional, on the drive up I called reception again to confirm my rival time this time it was answered by Ben who again was reassuring Upon arrival ben was waiting for me? Presented the key to me and took payment. We had a little chat and again, the service was excellent The room was very comfortable and quiet good bathroom with plenty of hot water The staff at breakfast again very professional and polite, I had a full English which was delicious Very enjoyable The staff are very, very friendly, helpful and courteous It's lovely little hotel I would hardly recommend

I was disappointed with the hotel as the condition and quality differed from pictures shown on the website. The ambience in the bar/restaurant was poor with the only barman doubling as waiter and server which meant delays in ordering and receiving food. The menu was very basic, although the food was ok, none of it looked like what was shown on the website. Breakfast was ok, the standard of food was good. Overall I didn't feel that I got value for money.

The hotel is very dated. But surprisingly very clean. The walls need a lick of paint, and the furniture reminds me back in 70/80'S that was used in executive rooms for the business traveller, the room was surprisingly big, and even had a bath. Breakfast was ok, some items cold, and the eggs needed a fish slice not a chip scoop, it made all the eggs break up and looked unprofessional . Would stay again but maybe when had refurb. Staff were lovely. The surroundings it was in was lovely. We got a really good deal on it, but if paid more money wouldn't have been happy. Alison

The staff very nice and welcoming, but a very basic hotel in need of a complete overhaul. Everything is very dated from the mid-80s. The carpet is dirty and stained. The beds are old and quite uncomfortable. The food is not so great. The chips for the evening meal was a jacket potato that had been cooked many hours before, sliced, and then deep fried. The worse was the water - but very likely not the hotels fault. Smells like a peat bog and was a little worried about drinking it.

Friendly helpful staff. Great location as visiting Newmiller Dam. Rooms and hotel in general very outdated . Room quite dark and very hot with no air system and only able to open window slightly. Quiet environment.

We visit family here four times a year and love the hotel and surroundings. The staff are very welcoming and can't do enough for you. The rooms are clean and smell nice. The breakfasts are lovely. A real home from home experience overall. There's a great pub nearby called the Dam Inn that has live music on Friday nights and is well worth a visit.

I did enjoy my stay with my partner however the evening was spoilt by a rude woman over the bar/restaurant area who was complaining loudly about her meal to the point me and my partner felt uncomfortable to finish our drinks that we retired back to the room for the night. Felt sorry for the poor girl who was serving them as she tried her best and demanded a refund. That's more than what I would have allowed. The rooms them selves are fairly clean, the walls could do with a lick of paint as there were patches of paint which appears to be a completely different colour to the walls themselves! Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, I gave this place another chance and safe to say I won't be returning. It is a shame as the hotel it's self is in a stunning location.

We always love a visit to the hotel after getting married here in 2017. We visited on Sunday and had a beautiful father's day meal. The Goats cheese and red onion tartlet starter was so tasty, the mains were cooked perfectly, 10/10 mash! Puddings were gorgeous. Massive shout out to Mel & Sophie who always make us welcome. Thankyou to all the staff. Waiting time between courses was perfectly timed! See you all soon x

We travelled to visit local family, and to have a nice lie in each day as our lasting trip before our baby is due. We had two different rooms due to availability. Night one, standard room. Right next to the cleaning cupboard so as soon as the morning cleaners are active, no hope of sleeping in. Make sure you request not to have that room. Night two, the four poster suite. We paid more, expected a decent sleep, but unfortunately not. The extractor fan in the bathroom doesn't turn off, and the cooling system fan is right outside your window, so the whole room just 'buzzes' It defeated the whole point of staying in a hotel to me. Staff are friendly, but when I complained, I was just given an email to contact, and a full hearted agreement in which they said... ' Yes it's awful, if you sleep at the front there is road noise, to one side its loud late because of weddings and events below,if someone uses a bathroom or a room below of above you uses a bathroom the extractor fan stays on to keep everyone awake for up to 17 minutes. Then we got unlucky with the cleaners and cooling fan location.... ' Sounds like a shrug and carry on situation, so no point in me complaining, but to be useful, if you want to sleep the best bet according to them is rooms 320's at the back which are quieter. (Otherwise all clean and friendly etc, we didn't use other facilities just went there at night to sleep). Good luck!

First of all this was a last min booking we literally booked half hr before we arrived . I only booked it as it said they had a nice restaurant so I thought me and my husband could have a nice meal and a few drinks , when we arrived the restaurant was closed , only bar food available to eat in the small bar area where there was a rock band playing in the room right at the side , not very relaxing at all . We chose to have a few drinks then order food to our room , when we got to our room the bed had been used and there was tea wrappers in the bin , we called Down to reception and 2 lady's came up they couldn't understand hiw someone had been in our room but said they would change the bed as they didn't have any more rooms available we agreed to this but by this time we had already ordered food so the food was sat waiting while the room was ready which ment it was cold and dry buy the time we ate . We decided to just get in bed and get some sleep but then at midnight a couple entered our room using a card , as you can imagine we were shocked. We rang down to reception who said they would send someone up , no one arrived so my husband went down , yet again there was nothing they could do and the receptionist just walked back into her office . So all in all we spent about 150 pounds on a night that was just ruined from start to finish , no sleep as we were worried who was coming into our room next . We did revive a free bottle of wine but after all the messing about didn't drink it and that was all that was offered . No refund or anything . Would not go back to this place , on the plus side the 2 lady's who we did deal with were friendly and polite.

The building isn't historic and it isn't modern - you might say it's dated and the decor is overdue a re-working - but the St Pierre's setting is pretty, the bedroom was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, meals in the bar and at breakfast were really tasty, and all of the staff are super friendly and helpful. There is plenty of free parking, WiFi works well, prices are very reasonable, and it's a short drive from the M1 and lots of attractive spots. I would definitely stay again, and would certainly thank the staff for doing their jobs with such positive energy. It was ideal for a two night business stopover, and the hotel runs with care and evident pride in looking after guests.

I absolutely loved my recent stay. Ben could not do enough for me and really puts the customer first. He was extremely knowledgeable and went over and above keeping me company on many subjects. He is a credit to the company and deserves a promotion!

This hotel is perfectly placed, being very near to fabulous walks and also to popular attractions. Stayed here 3 or four times now and each time have been blown away by the friendly, helpful and cheerful attitude of all staff members. Breakfasts are superb with multiple options to suit all tastes. Rooms are a good size and clean. Can't fault it, especially considering the value for money from Groupon deals.

We were travelling from Manchester to Newcastle following a holiday abroad, and needed a place to stay over on the way home due to the unsociable hours of our flight back to Manchester. This hotel was easy enough to find, was equipped with everything we needed and the staff were lovely. We had the best nights sleep we'd had all week due to an uncomfortable bed during our holiday, and we didn't feel rushed to check out. We'd definitely stay again if looking for a place to stay in the area.

We wanted a drink in the bar with friends but had to take the drinks to our room as staff where stood right outside the door smoking and the smell was overpowering. This did not look good for people passing the hotel. Also the pillows in the room were very hard. This is our only complaint as everything else was good

Hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. Rooms are dated and dingy and not as described when booking. We were really disappointed. The actual location is fabulous and the staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

We held our annual ladies night at the St Pierre hotel, Wakefield. Mel and her colleagues were absolutely fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. Everything I had requested on the day, from the special dietary requirements, the seating planning to the DJ/ singer positioning, were all catered for with no problem and ready at the time that was agreed. The meals that we had ordered were excellent, has was the service. I couldn't have wish for anything more. Thank you to Mel, for the help she gave me, planning and organising the evening and to her hard working staff for making it a wonderful night. We will be coming back.

Lovely hotel and staff, very good breakfast, excellent value for money. Excellent location. Hotel room dated and would be lovely if refurbished, more modern. All in all we still enjoyed our stay and will return.

Hotel is situated in a really nice place with a lovely lake and a fab pub just down the road. The hotel itself is really clean and well kept. The staff are friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble for them. The service is excellent

Very nice hotel right next to the Newmiller-Dam, decent price for a short stay away. The breakfast was very good value. They do nice food and have a reasonably priced bar, also you are close to a few pubs and the Dam itself so you can go for a wander. It's not too far off the Motorway (5 mins), well signposted and easy to find. Would Recommend.

Upgraded too a so called executive suite £115 for one night upgrade cost £40 . Only difference too a standard double was 2 seater settee coffee table or and jets in the tierd worn bath . Room was very tierd also . When i upgraded the lady behind the counter wrote £30 on a regerstration form but charged me £40 very big disappointment when i looked online the room i was in looked like a junior suite . Staff was friendly and breakfast was excellent 3rd time ive stayed here but definitely would upgrade aga8n if we returned.

Had a great welcome upon are arrivel, we had already checked in on line so only needed to make payment. Good choice of drinks at the bar and a menu to suit most pallets. Room clean and well equipped, Breakfast was excellent good choice and well cooked.

Small dingy dark attic room without a proper window.. Room was filthy.. And very dated... Would not recommend to anyone... Maybe okay for a workman who doesn't care. Got a shock from the light socket. On a positive note the staff were very helpful

We had an absolutely superb day from start to finish. Mel, the wedding planner has been a star since the first day we visited, always answering emails and calls quickly and efficiently. And then on the big day, everything went perfectly. The ceremony room was beautifully set out (Cezanne suite) and the wedding breakfast and evening room was decorated just as we'd hoped (Monet suite). All of our guests commented on the lovely food - and that was the canapés, the main meal and the evening buffet. Any request was dealt with immediately. We had a ceilidh band and dancing and the room was a perfect size for that. Mel was on hand all day and she and the whole team were fantastic. I have not one negative comment to say.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location for nearby walks. Ideal location as a base to explore other tourist attractions and site seeing areas. We upgraded the room whilst we there and really enjoyed the additional space/ facilities.

We booked this as a groupon deal and it was a bargain. We got breakfast and a free glass of wine included so won't complain too much. We don't drink wine so luckily got a draft pint instead but after the waitress poured it, she then got told cider wasn't included. I don't see the difference between cider ok draught and the lagers on draught but that was the managers view. The room was in the attic with eave ceilings that were low in places and we both hit our heads. It was clearly an older style room and there were holes in the lampshade and it was very outdated. The bed was very uncomfortable and had a big dip in the middle that we both ended up in. It was also very warm so we opened the Velux window but it didn't allow much of a draft unfortunately. After a not very good nights sleep, breakfast was tasty and fully stocked. Great filter coffee and fully English was top notch. The staff member was on her own due to a sickness and she was running round doing everything bless her. The restaurant was also incredibly hot in that my husband had to leave halfway through breakfast from feeling light headed due to it. I have notified the manager and he has advised about the sickness and that the place is having a refurb at the end of the year, which it needs. Great location just off the M5 and there is a lovely lake for a walk nearby. Rooms just need an upgrade and a new bed but it was a bargain!

We have just completed our holiday with the Great Western and it was a real joy. The staff went to great lengths to make us feel welcome and the service was very warm and personal. The bedroom was lovely with a great view. The overal decor was one of organic growth to make residents feel comfortable.

My wife and I took the opportunity of our youngest son being on a school trip to get a rare night away together. It would have been great except that the fan located on the flat roof outside our room (211) was very noisy and the room smelt strongly of highly fragranced cleaning products or possibly air fresheners. We asked about changing room, but the hotel was full. The staff were aware of the fan being faulty and are waiting for it to be fixed. They assured us it would be turned off when the kitchen closed at 9:15. We left the windows open as much as possible to clear the air, and went out to eat. We looked at going to the pictures to delay returning to the hotel, but there was nothing on. We kept the windows open and put up with the noise, and the fan did turn off at the time they said it would, and didn't come back on till 6:45am. We slept with the windows open. The breakfast was good, the room was clean, the staff were friendly. It might just be one room that had an excess of fragrances - maybe someone had smoked in there previously, and the kitchen extractor fan might get fixed soon.

Disappointed that one of our two rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I'm afraid leaving the window open doesn't really make it better. Whilst the view out to the rear of the hotel was open fields, it was somewhat spoiled by the amount of litter that has accumulated along the rear perimeter. The rooms were a decent size and the bathroom was ok, but the furnishings are a little tired and “patched up” in places. The hotel did the job but that's about it.

Room was as expected, a bit small but OK, Bathroom a bit small. Prefer a separate shower rather than bath with shower but OK for 2 nights. Bed was very large and comfortable. TV and channels OK. Tea & Coffee OK. View was OK from window. Breakfast was great, full English, plus fruit, plus cereals, plus other extras. Used Electric charge point which was not advertised as being on-site so added bonus. In a good location for our visit to friends and relatives, and good for a quite walk around the local dam / beauty spot.

We had a celebration of my mum's life on Mother's Day, 27th March. From my very first enquiry several months ago Melanie was sympathetic to our needs and wishes for the celebration. Her advice and suggestions were great and just what we needed. On the day, despite being very busy with Mother's Day lunches, nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautifully set up, and Melanie checked that we were happy with everything. When people arrived early we were able to bring forward the serving of the buffet. The food was fantastic, everyone said how delicious it was and the children especially enjoyed the brownies! The scones with jam and cream were a tribute to mum who loved her scones and were just the right touch. Everyone who attended has been in touch with me to say how much they enjoyed the afternoon and how much mum would have loved it. Nothing was too much trouble for Melanie and her staff, I can't praise them or thank them enough. I heartily recommend this hotel for any similar function and will happily stay with them again.

Comfortable room, food generous portions, well cooked and presented. Good value for money especially the dinner, bed and breakfast inclusive rate. Very close to countryside parkland and amenities on the edge of the City. Close to the motorway.

Had no hot water on 2 consecutive days. No hot in both shower/bath and sink taps. Dirty tea spoons and cup in the room. There were Human hairs in the bath and the bath was dirty and requires cleaning.

Usually stay at St Pierre when visiting Newmillerdam , the hotel has great welcoming staff but the rooms and general areas are in desperate need of an upgrade, the rooms are generally clean but so so tired....breakfast is absolutely lovely one of the best to be honest just hotel needs a refurb to match the fantastic surroundings .....

The hotel was clean and tidy. The rooms were well maintained and had everything you would need for a night away. Breakfast was lovely! All staff were pleasant and accommodating. We were served in the bar area by a girl called Sophie, she was superb!

Really enjoyed our stay,staff extremely polite and helpful.Visit was for grandsons 18th party,would highly recommend this hotel.Also only 20 minutes drive from Cannon Hall Farm,a favourite place of ours to visit.

Excellent hotel. Very good staff,.excellent service and good food, very nice area to walk around as well as the walk around the Damm. Wakefield is just a bus ride away, and Barnsley is the same. 2 golf courses not fare away, plus not bad surroundings

Reception staff are accommodating, looks great from the outside but don't be fooled by this. The hotel is tired and in my opinion has lack of management and structure. Rooms sticky and needs a thorough clean, General cleaning and lack of attention is poor. We saw drunks in reception, rooms with dirty bedding and carpets , smokers surrounding the hotel entrance. one star at best.

This a nice hotel in a good location. I stayed over a weekend (3 days). Staff are very good in every department. The hotel gets alot workers staying overnight. So not ideal for a romantic break. The hotel has a restaurant but it is closed at the moment. Restaurant needs to open to attract more people. The area has two beautiful pubs within walking distance. Alot of pubs within driving distance. The hotel needs redecorating. I was in an Executive room but you would not say it was an Executive room by looking at it. Great area around if you want to do alot of walking.

When we booked my worries around covid and cancellation were dealt with. On the day the hotel was very clean. The room was set out beautifullyand the food was very nice. We had a wonderful celebration at the St Pierre and all our relatives and friends thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The meal and the DJ was excellent. My wife and I would like to especially thank Melanie for making the event so enjoyable having made all the detailed arrangements. My partner and I booked while travelling From Manchester to home. Stopped to have a night out in Wakefield. £7 taxi to centre and£15 back to hotel. Staff friendly, early check in. Room basic bed clean and comfy. Ironing facilities. Spacious room. Breakfast was nice. Hot and tasty. Would return if passing for a night out.

A fantastic weekend away in a lovely hotel. Food excellent, staff very friendly (special mention for Tracy, Ben and the lady with long dark hair). Slept like a log, peaceful and quiet. Reasonable bar and food prices. Can't wait to visit again.

The photos of the hotel obviously show the best parts, standard rooms are in need of modernisation but they are clean and comfortable. The pillows were quite hard so I purchased my own and used them instead.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights in February to get away from home as I am suffering from “ long covid”. We wanted somewhere nice and quiet and where we wouldn't be bothered and this is what we got. Reception staff lovely n helpful. Was disappointed we couldn't eat at the hotel so had to drive elsewhere. Room was old but bed was huge and comfortable. Bathroom was nice and shower good but hot water in sink was hit and miss. Curtains could have done with an update. Both chairs in the room were collapsing and we could have done with a little table but to be honest the room was fine and the hotel had a lovely feel to it. Reception staff lovely and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. Free parking was a bonus. We had a couple of lovely walks. Thank you.

Enjoyed our weekend at the St Pierre. Unfortunately restaurant was closed but there are several pubs nearby and in walking distance if you don't want to drink and drive. Our bar meal on Friday night was lovely and we were well looked after by Laura K . Pity wedding on second day so as nowhere to sit in the hotel we went out despite Storm Eunice. Think in hindsight they could have put the wedding guests in the restaurant so leaving the bar area free for other guests to use. All the staff were friendly though and breakfasts were value for money. We will definitely stay there again if we are ever back in the area.

Room upgrade we chose was real bonus as my wife who is early riser could have her own space! Food always good here and despite wedding party on Saturday night really enjoyed our visit staff really friendly and great feel to the place clean comfortable but not too stuffy

A very friendly hotel, the staff made us feel very welcome, lovely breakfast (better on the first day when cooked to order, rather than the buffet on the Saturday, but that was still very nice). We had a basic double bedroom, which was a bit tired, but as we were only sleeping there we didn't see much of it! We liked the village setting and it was convenient for the motorway without being on top of it. Hope to visit again.

Very welcoming Hotel tell staff were very helpful couldn't do enough for you food was a bit basic could be better hotel a bit dated but they comfortable would recommend it for a few days holiday plenty of other places 28 and plenty of walks not far from the area

Staff were great. Christian deserves a raise and that wakey lass was phenomenal too. Hotel needs to be renovated though felt like stepping back in to the 80s. Fan quite noisy in bathroom which was pretty annoying. All in all I'd rate it 4/5 stars.

The room wasn't anything fancy but was clean and the bed was really comfortable. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, just the ones serving the breakfast did not seem interested. There was plenty of parking on-site which is always an added bonus. Breakfast itself was poor, seemed precooked and taken off a buffet but served up for you. Portions were really small with only 1 of most items given to you. No-one asked if we wanted more drinks/food or if the food was ok. Cold buffet selection is very limited. Overall the hotel is ok but definitely would recommend going somewhere else for breakfast.

We have stayed here many time because the staff are always so friendly the food is also very good some of the rooms are a little dated but there good size and always very clean nothing is to much bother we will always stay here when we visit Wakefield good value for money as well

Having missed out last year we returned on Sunday 16th January for our annual Allotment Lunch/Fun afternoon. Everything was set out with Covid in mind, plenty of hand sanitising stations ,even on the tables, no hold ups in the bar etc. 51 of us had the confidence in Melanie Hall and her team to keep us safe with the Sunday Lunch being up to its usual standard. Melanie always goes the extra mile with nothing being too much trouble. Always a pleasure to return - we have been doing this since 2006 so they must be doing something right. Thanks to all, Bridget

To be fair the hotel itself has a bit of a tired feel but everything else including the staff was great. The hotel is in a great location with a few pubs and eateries very close and loads of walking and cycling options virtually on the doorstep. The breakfast was superb! Despite the hotel being virtually empty (Sunday night, early Jan plus rampant covid!) there was plenty of choice on the cold buffet/cereal section. The full breakfast was cooked to order and was spot-on! The bedroom was a bit drab and lacking a bit of light but everything functioned and the bed was really comfy so had a great night's sleep

What can we say we held out wedding reception at the Hotel in November. It really was the best day ever nothing was too much trouble for the staff to make groomszilla happy. They searched for weeks to find the perfect colour confetti and added special little touches like Leeds signs on our postbox. The room just looked beautiful. Special thanks to Richard, Tracy, Sophie, Ben, Christian, and the of course lovely Mel the wedding organiser she's become our friend now. She Did eveything we wanted and more. Wish we could do it all again. Thank you all so much.

I stayed here with my mum on a Christmas shopping weekend. The hotel is clean, with added precautions and tidy and complies with Covid details. The staff were amazing, kind and attentive and so friendly. Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again.

We stayed over for one night last weekend. As we've come to expect now, the hotel itself is lovely and the area is well worth a visit. The rooms are clean and provide all you need for a stay. The breakfast is fabulous. But the best feature is the staff who are a credit to Best Western. Richard, the manager and his team are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Myself and my husband got married here on the 13.06.2021 (on our third wedding date- thanks covid!) I honestly cannot praise this hotel and it's staff enough. From booking our wedding in 2018 to our wedding day, we have had nothing but constant support from Melanie Hall- wedding co ordinator. We could not have asked for a better day. Mel went above and beyond to make our day extra special. By the time it got to our wedding day Mel became like family to myself, my husband & my parents! She worked so hard to ensure that the decorations were perfect, the day ran smoothly & that everybody was happy. The food was fantastic. 10/10. So many guests commented on how nice it was. I, alongside my dad are coeliac and we had food carefully prepared for us from the 3 course meal to the buffet. Neither of us got sick- bonus! The rooms that we stopped in with my bridesmaids the night before were clean and spacious. The bridal suite was also stunning and very clean! We would recommend this hotel to anybody- whether they want to book a private function or just stop the night. The staff are friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for you. Thank you xx.

This was our third stay at St Pierre, and every time these lovely people have surpassed expectation. There is always a warm welcome and a genuine sense of helpfulness, and - travelling with two elderly but feisty parents! - all help and support on booking-in, getting into rooms and ensuring we're all ok is greatly appreciated. There was a massive power cut in Wakefield on the weekend we stayed, but even with no food available, the staff did their best to make us comfortable; recommending take-aways, supplying plates and cutlery, cleaning up our Huge Mess with no fuss whatsover and generally making sure we were happy, warm and comfortable. At breakfast the following morning, St Pierre even made us up little 'travel-bags' of sandwiches and drinks to take on our journey back from London, in case we got stuck along the way. Nothing was too much trouble - and all done with a warm Wakefield smile. Would highly recommend this clean, peaceful and cheerful hotel for anyone looking to stay.

We had our wedding at hotel st Pierre at the weekend and was amazed by the service we received. As bride I stayed at the hotel the evening before and Richard was an amazing host. On the day Melanie was great in making sure the day rang smoothly and making sure everyone was ok. I also have to mention Sophie and Christian who were very attentive also and worked so hard making sure our guests were well stocked with food and drink and having a great time. The rooms were clean and food was amazing we had a great time and would highly recommend to anyone. Thankyou to all the staff for making our wedding weekend as amazing as it was!!

On Friday 5th November we held our wedding reception at this lovely hotel. We'd been dealing with Melanie (the wedding organiser) for the last few weeks as we'd only just booked our wedding last minute. Nothing was too much trouble for her and everything was organised to perfection. On the day she attended to all our needs constantly checking everything was to our satisfaction. The food was amazing..the chocolate brownie to die for. The bridal suite was perfect...wish I could re-live this day again. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location plus great value for money

Breakfast and evening meal was delicious with all staff being friendly and attentive with nothing being too much trouble. Hotel itself could do with upgrading. The bedroom although clean could do with redecorating

Just stayed at this hotel, which we booked through a Groupon Deal. It was basically £40 per room per night, including breakfast and a welcome drink. Staff were super friendly and very helpful. Room was a double with bath and shower inside. Bed was rather uncomfortable, not a great mattress, but clean, and made every day. Water instantly hot at all times. Breakfast was continental, plus full English if required. Individually prepared, and brought to the table. It was ok and value for money. We didn't use the restaurant but saw the meals, they looked well prepared, and not a bad choice. Overall the hotel was in a super location, right by a country park with great scenery, cafes, and great walks. It's really good value for money. I would use it again if this same deal was available, but wouldn't pay higher.

OK the hotel is very tired we'll our room was .... BUT it was very clean . The staff were very tentive and on the ball in serving. And couldn't do enough ... we only stayed 1 bight as a stop over . But the staff are a credit to the company.. thank you for making our short visit pleasurable... then the breakfast was very nice highly recommend

We had our wedding reception here on the 23/10/2021. The day was perfect!! Melanie and her team are absolutely fantastic. From the moment we booked nothing was too much trouble. Melanie was so supportive and helped us book the things we wanted for the day giving us lots of recommendations with what would work for us. Melanie and her team made sure everything ran smoothly on the day and were always checking in with us to make sure everything was ok. It was perfect!! Everyone commented on how nice the wedding breakfast was and the evening buffet was. Also making changes for guests that didn't like certain foods. The breakfast was also fantastic for the guest that had booked to stay overnight. Every guest commented on what a perfect day it was! We can't recommend enough, Melanie and her team created our dream wedding reception and we can't thank them enough.

located near a Dam so if your a walker lovely place to visit room nice enough, food was good staff very helpful. very busy place several parties on so book table quick as it fills up after 7 will use again when working down here soon

We stayed for 2 nights. The room wasn't particularly nice with double sheets on single beds so most of the bedding was on the floor. Both of the single bed mattresses need changing. A burn mark in the carpet and cobwebs in the corners. The staff however, were lovely and very polite. I think the whole hotel needs a coat of paint and a revamp. Also the lighting in the breakfast room needs updating but fine if you were a mole. Would I recommend - no I wouldn't

This three star hotel is in need of a revamp and it's only redeeming factor is the staff who are all polite,friendly and professional. The bar lounge area has grubby furniture that smells and we found evidence of a lack of cleaning in our room and damaged furniture and a large burn mark in the carpet.

The staff were wonderful and lovely, rooms were clean and plenty of sanitizing places. Cooked breakfast as well as a continental and this was lovely too. I couldnt eat the normal food due to an operation so the manager went out of her way to locate something I could eat. Few pubs within walking distance and the dam 3 minutes down the road. Would love to go again

If you want a cheap room to crash for the night,go for it. But be warned,there are other budget hotel rooms in other places that will be much better than this one. Unless you like old,stinking,dirty,stained,no shower pressure and everything very very dated rooms,then go for it. Premier in or any other b and b will be better than this place. Shower has no pressure,took an hour bending backwards and nearly breaking my back to wash my hair. Bathroom shower is placed half way down the wall so the shower head hits you at the chest and not above your head,this is 5ft8 person which is average. Very dated blue tiles. Everything wonky and nothing decor wise hung straight. Stains on carpets as if a murder scene was filmed there. Dust on everything from probably 100 years ago. Bed very uncomfortable ,towels like sandpaper and with holes and stains. I feel like after the worst night there,I need a shower after and get myself tested,because I am certain this place will give you some sort of disease.

Hotel centrally placed with ample parking. The rooms were clean and Staff friendly. Ideal location for viewing West Yorkshire stately homes and parks. Sadly our trip was for family funeral but Staff were extremely helpful eg. getting taxis etc. The best thing was didn't have to queue for petrol on our return home 200 miles away when one considered that supplies were running low all over the country.

Great staff and location don't compensate for a poorly designed building with tired decor. If ever a building suffered from "value engineering" anything that might be aesthetically appealing out of it, its this one. Needs pulling down and re building.

Room probably not quite as we expected, ready for update, food was very good, excellent rump steak at evening meal, very good breakfast, very filling, bacon was good quality, sausages ok. Staff very pleasant.

The hotel looks like it needs a refurb. My bedroom was adequate but dated. Good TV and internet. Parking also good. I did have breakfast on one particular morning and that was fairly average. The hotel is in a great location but I don't think there was any outside seating are for guests which was dissapointing.

Rooms are spotlessly clean, even if the decor is a little dated. Staff friendly and helpful. Showers good, with plenty of hot water. Bed comfortable, but pillows could do will being a little more fluffy (just my personal preference!) Breakfast is good, and cooked to order, so no tepid food on a buffet. However, breakfast room has no windows, which makes it feel quite dark. Bar food menu good, and the food served was very tasty. Great location, with a lake and a country park to walk around just a few minutes walk away. Despite being in a beautiful village location there are 2 pubs serving good food and an Italian restaurant just a few minutes walk away.

Room was OK, but very gloomy; the curtains had been hung in such a way that they could not be opened. The piped music in the bar area, where we had an evening meal, was loud and very intrusive, making conversation very difficult. This alone would put me off returning in the future.

We paid for an upgrade and didn't get anything off the list as advertised. We had to ask for additional towels, as there was on one of each (hand and bath towel) there were two of us. We contacted the reception to ask if we gad received the upgraded room, to be to we had and they would bring us the water up. We never received anything (bottled water, chocolates, news paper and larger room). We later found out our friends who stayed 2 doors down had exact same room size as us and they had paid for the standard double. Our upgrade was meant to be the executive double room.

Dated, tired and looks nothing like the photos. I honestly thought I'd walked into my Local Royal British Legion, as with a lot of Best Westerns, you need to take the word best with a pinch of salt. It looked like the most recent refurb was the early 90's. Dark wooden decor scuffed paint work and a brick tunnel that doubles as the corridor. For the price I'd say it is a stretch asking for what they do. Food is tasty but the presentation was terrible, but what made it worse was the wait for the starter and then the 15min wait for something to eat it with. The main was a tastie Ceaser Salad, but Croutons were substituted for dry toast cut into squares. Best Western Spend some money and bring the place up to date

We just stayed here for one night during a tour of the north. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the receptionist who recommended both a nice restaurant and a good place to go for a walk. The rear rooms backed onto fields and so were quiet. Breakfast was excellent and very inexpensive, with lots of variety and all of good quality though strangely no marmalade was available. Location was very good with on-site parking, good restaurants short walk away and a lovely Riverside walk also just down the road. It was in a very convenient location for visiting the Yorkshire sculpture park.

I stay at this hotel on a regular basis. I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and will definitely be returning soon. They staff are very friendly and helpful, they make the stay even more enjoyable. Rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated.

What can I say.. 1st class service from start to finish, it took us 3 year to get to our wedding day due to covid but Mel & all the team went above & beyond for us throughout, the day was amazing exactly what we had hoped for & the food was amazing.. thankyou to you all & for making the start of our marriage a good one

All the staff in the hotel are very friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble, we have stayed at this hotel at least 6 times in the last 2 years and every time we always experience first class service

All staff were very friendly and helpful. The room facilities were good and the room was clean. The bathroom was spotless and there was plenty of hot water. Had fish and chips in the bar which was very good and the breakfast choice was good. The hotel decor and furniture is a little tired but perfectly adequate and clean. In my view the hotel and room was good value.

What can i say after previously having stayed in a Best Western hotel nr Bath that we did not enjoy meant i had my reservations about staying at St Pierre but being close to us wanting to visit Cannon hall farm took the gamble . Well we should not have worried hotel is fine rooms fine breakfast good and the staff first class .Best Western you should be proud of these hard work friendly staff ,special thankyou to receptionist who i think was called Laura and the the two Traceys made our stay enjoyable thankyou . Uprgraded our rooms to be met with fifthly carpets dirt beds pillows , hair everywhere , slept on our own towels 3 out of 6 of has bites , couldn't sit on the chairs as you would fall right through , stains on the bed , dirty headboards awful place , the only nice thing was the lovely receptionist, we left after one night , be prepared to hear everyone in the next room paper thin walls

Had to change rooms to a cleaner quieter room, constant door banging from 3pm til midnight, then again from 6am. Dead spiders & cobwebs, scary old carpets, curtains coming away from pole. Dark dingy room with small window, view obscured by overgrown bushes, I felt neglected and quite jumpy because of the loud slams of doors. Second room ok but mirror filthy. Again dingy room, view obscured by adjacent roof. At end of visit I felt quite miserable. Good points. Breakfast is amazing, tasty, good quality cooked food. Beds clean and comfy, the deep bath was wonderful,. The beautiful location had good quality restaurants, Newmiller Dam to walk round was delightful. Large ASDA 5 min drive away. I wish St Pierre Hotel would get their act together because if they had an update and took more care on cleaning they would have a top class establishment.

Absolutely fantastic. Pur wedding day at hotel st pierre was amazing. It went better than expected and myself, family and friends who stayed there loved it. Great rooms and a wonderful breakfast. Mel looked after us all from start to finish and could not do enough for us all. The rest of the staff were not far behind. 100% recommended to anyone and not just for weddings 10/10.

We wanted a place to stay for one night whilst over that way doing some walking. We were not disappointed and would visit again. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, without exception everyone we spoke to was very welcoming and a credit to the hotel. The only minor grumble would be we were on the top floor and the room was quite dark due to having a slanted half window due to being in the eaves. It was also too hot. Despite this, the room was spotless and as we only stayed one night was not an issue. I expect we will be having a return trip and can recommend. Also is in a good position with pubs to walk to. We didn't eat at the hotel but at a local pub. The hotel breakfast was delicious and served by very friendly staff.

My wife and I have been to the ‘Best ‘ Western a few times before. The hotel is well situated for local walks and amenities. What makes the hotel our first choice is the excellent staff in the hotel , that make you feel right at home. You could be forgiven for thinking all of the staff are related. In some sense they are, united by a desire to make their guests have a good time. The rooms are spacious, the food excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Booked our next stay before we left !

We got married here and I cannot sing enough praises. We didn't have to worry or stress the staff and the wedding planner Melanie couldn't do enough for us. the decoration and extent to detail was amazing. You truly made our wedding a dream come true. Stayed at St Pieere Hotel for the wedding night of my sisters do. The Hotel staff did a marvelous job the decorations, buffet, music were absolutley fabulous. Really enjoyed the evening and the atmosphere couldnt have asked for anything better

I stayed over at this hotel to make it more convenient for my travel to work the next day. I had got an upgrade to four poster bedroom so was delighted. When I arrived the receptionist Rachel was brilliant as were other staff. Friendly and welcoming. That is really all I can say that is good. The room advertised for a Four Poster was a frame of a poster, on a normal bed. Two leather sofas in the room, one which had tears in it that had been stitched in places. The shower head was also loose. The worst thing though was the noise at night outside my room on the roof. The so called Four Poster room had what I think were the air conditioning units and possibly generators outside my windows. The noise meant I had very little sleep, two hours I think. No warning was given for this. This shouldn't happen at any room, but definitely not at a Four Poster upgrade. I didn't have food as it was bar food only and I know that can be hit and miss. I paid for breakfast which was £8.00. I don't eat hot food, but the buffet was limited in fact much less available than a premier inn. When I checked out the overcharged me, but Rachel put this right immediately. The staff are great but I won't risk staying here again.

I don't wanna be too harsh. The exterior is extremely misleading. The only saving factor is the location and staff are nice but that's it. We decided against staying the night and drove home the same day.

The location was very nice; near a country park and not far from the motorway. The rooms are a good size and the bed was comfortable. The hotel needs a bit of TLC as far as decor, but otherwise fine. It would be a good hotel for a fairly casual meeting or event.

We decided to stay here for 2 nights on our drive down from Scotland. All seemed OK until they said you have a room upgrade which I'd been told wasn't possible by a earlier email as the suites were not accessible by lift and I'm disabled. The lady on reception told us it was only up 3 stairs coming out of the lift. So I agreed as we were both tired after a 5 hour drive. The receptionist swiped my debit card and I thought nothing of it. We got to the top floor came out the lift went up 3 stairs opened a door and we're confronted by another 12 stairs, my wife has a bad lung condition so I carried the case up nearly killing myself. The room was OK but definitely not a suite, it was tired, flaky paint a corner jacuzzi bath with overhead shower with no grab rails for people with disabilities. I bit my lip and said we are here now let's get on with it. We then went to the bar as I was looking forward to a nice cold guinness and they had ran out, so a bottle of cider it was. We then went for a drive to see what else was about. We thought we would eat in the hotel that night as it was getting on and we were tired. After struggling to get in the shower we went down to the restaurant to find it was still closed due to the covid, they were doing bar food only, not a inviting menu but we chose scampi, chips and peas for me and the wife had bbq pulled pork nachos with, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Shock horror when it turned up it was cooked to death, the chips were fresh but matchstick thin and black, the scampi could have been used to play football with. My wife's was just a plate that looked like it had, had the food thrown on from 50feet away and burnt. Hence we didn't pay for the food but we're still hungry. We had crisps in the room. I ordered another bottle of cider to be told they didn't have any more. I could go on. But I won't. The reception staff and breakfast waitresses and the evening young lady waitress were so kind and helpful. It needs a massive upgrade because at a £100 a night for a type of suite is well over the top.

The hotel was in a good spot location wise. It was a short walk to the country park, which was a lovely walk around. Also, if you venture out there are plenty of nice pubs, all serving food. Staff were very welcoming, good check in, the lady asked what we were planning on doing and if we needed anything then just to ask. The room was on the top floor, which was fine, but it could have done with some TLC, the curtains had hooks missing on the curtain rail and the net curtains didn't fit the window, the room was very warm, could do with some air con the only other thing was that the shower pressure needs to be reviewed, you were able to have a shower, but it was a trickle. The hotel and the room were very clean. Breakfast was plentiful and there was a good choice, again the dining room was very clean, the breakfast staff just need to be a bit more visible to guests, as we had to go and find them in their little room chatting. I would recommend the hotel if you fancy a break in a nice place.

My partner & I had our wedding here on 03/07/21 . It was postponed from the pandemic year & we were hopeful the restrictions would be lifted so we could party with our friends & family. Unfortunately this didn't happen but the staff & management at this hotel bent over backwards for us . We had a truly memorable day , in no short measure due to Mel Hall & all of her staff , it was like being served by friends , they all truly made a difference & everyone commented on it as well as fantastic comments about the food , my son & his partner are vegan & their food was the same standard as everyone else's . My brother has already booked his wedding reception here on the strength of our fabulous day . For personal service & great food do not hesitate to book this venue ! Regards Mark Sykes .

We have used this hotel for several years and always it to be convenient and comfortable for family visits. The staff are excellent and extremely helpful and the rooms are thoroughly cleaned. My only complaint is that some of the rooms would benefit from a refurb and the exterior woodwork desperately needs attention. But for what you pay it is excellent value and very quiet. We had a problem with a hard mattress in room 311 and mentioned it to reception. We were immediately upgraded to 211. A wonderful spacious room with a very cosy bed. Thank you x

A lovely place to stay close to country walks. Staff excellent and extremely clean hotel. Some of rooms need a refurbishment and exterior woodwork in need of repair. We keep returning because it's so comfortable and friendly. Room upgraded.

Just returned from a 3 day break and we found it really good. All of the staff were excellent. Hotel and room was clean and comfortable. English breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable. Well stocked bar good choice of drinks. The hotel is in a good position close to the New Miller Dam with decent walks around the dam and surrounding area, also a couple of decent pubs. We will be back in the near future Thank you.

The room was so comfortable that we overslept and woke up after breakfast should have finished. After a quick call to reception, the staff kept the kitchen open for us and we had a great breakfast. That summed up our stay, the staff were all friendly and helpful, the room and facilities were everything we could have wished for and we will certainly make this hotel top of our list to stay at next time.

Turned up at 1 so had a little walk round village and it down poured i was soaked . So i went too hotel as soon as i walked throu door lady behind the desk new up she got checked my room was ready and got me booked in what a star . Lovley quite room 203 had a lovley 5 hours kip as coming grom Scotland woke nice brew then onward travel too london. Thanks guys

great location. the hotel was pleasant , very nice staff. clean rooms with tea and coffee. bar if you wanted it, all fine for a few nights. breakfast ok . the bed was very comfortable with nice linen and good shower . all in all it did the job an£ was good value for money

Had another overnight stay here and it's standards remain high in our view. The room was clean and tidy, had everything you need. The breakfast was fab. The key positive however is the staff - efficient, so friendly and hospitable - a credit to Best Western. Thanks for a great stay.

We arrived at the hotel and was greeted by a very pleasant friendly man behind the reception who booked us in and was very helpful we had a good night the room was clean and comfortable we went down for breakfast and was greeted by lovely staff who were very pleasant I ordered scrambled eggs with smoked salmon but was told they had no fish so I ordered the only alternative full English we waited 15mins then it arrived the only thing that was edible was the egg both my wife and I left the rest witch was a pity because the serving staff were friendly and polite the chef (cook) truly needs replacing

We stayed at this hotel in July 2021. We have stayed in Best Western hotels before and have never been disappointed. This is a budget hotel for which we paid £69 for the 2 of us including breakfast. We didn't expect the Earth for this price and we got exactly what we expected. The location was actually better than I hoped for. It is in Newmillerdam and just a short walk from the hotel is the dam and associated lake. There is a lovely walk around the lake. The hotel itself is uninspiring from the outside. It is a 60's/70's boxy building which doesn't scream “stay here” but inside it is clean and reasonably well decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size. The bathroom was tired but both bathroom and bedroom were clean. We had an evening meal which was served in the bar rather than the restaurant due to a function being on therefore we only had the bar menu available. Having said that, the choice was reasonable and the food was tasty. The breakfast was also reasonably good. All in all, this hotel delivered everything that I expected of it for the price that I paid. Well done Best Western.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. All Covid safety measures were taken. Comfortable bedrooms. The breakfast area was well spaced between tables and a very good breakfast of either continental or full English breakfast was available

We booked to stay 2 nights at Hotel St Pierre in July. We arrived early and went to reception to check that it was okay to leave the car in the carpark. Laura on reception was busy trying to find a man's jacket and then spoke to me. As I left there was a gentleman trying to push a wheelchair through the doors, Laura went to his help without being asked and I was very impressed with her caring manner. We went down to dinner later and was looked after by Ben who was very attentive, helpful and friendly all evening and Richard the manager who was also friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean throughout and the food (both dinner and breakfast) was very good so thank you to the Chef. We both had a great time and the hotel just made it perfect.

Hotel is dated but clean, comfortable and covers all travellers needs. Staff are exceptional, friendly, polite , nothings too much trouble . Foods reasonably priced and better quality than IHG. Value for money 9/10. The one thing that lets the hotel down is no air con in the suites. Return trip booked

An excellent hotel which was really great value for money with helpful and friendly staff, with comfortable and clean rooms, and facilities such as bar and restaurant. The hotel is near to a pleasant walk near the water and some nice pubs and cafés.

The hotel staff and wedding planner Mel and her team made our son's wedding run very smoothly in spite of logistical difficulties with social distancing restrictions. Because of these restrictions we were not able to have the evening party but the hotel are holding it for us at a later date.

Booked last minute, staff friendly, room clean with everything you needed, breakfast was tasty and accommodated my dietary needs. There were a few pubs that were walkable and plenty of parking. Thank you for a lovely stay

Somewhat dated decor but right next to newmillerdam reservoir which is pleasant to walk around. It's not a place I'd normally stay but due to covid hotel with vacant rooms were thin on the ground. Parking at hotel was good, bar and food was acceptable, room was not really worth the money and a refurb or price drop.

Stayed overnight as did many of the guests at my wedding and everyone praised the staff who worked so hard to make my day special. The service was great and I have booked again to have my evening event in August..

Very nice stay at this hotel. We have been once before, was nice then too. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and basic, which is fine, but is quite dated. If it was to be updated then it would be perfect , as it is in a lovely location, with a beautiful lake. Would definitely stay there again. Only little gripe, it was a little bit noisy this time , as there was a wedding party staying last Saturday night, but obviously that cannot be helped. Overall really nice stay :)

The staff and service were good, but the room was definitely not up to standard. Especially as it was a junior suit. Crack jacuzzi bath, there were hairs in the bath and peeling paint and wall paper. All in all I was very disappointed

Very friendly, helpful staff... Good food cooked fresh... Clean, tidy room... Plenty of parking... Only down side was furniture was a little dated... Stayed with a motorcycle tour group and we where made very welcome.

I regularly stop here when in Wakefield on business. The hotel is in a quiet location which means a good nights sleep and the WiFi in the rooms is good, meaning that it's easy to catch up with work in an evening. The staff are always friendly and the rooms kept clean. The hotel is close to the "dam" which means it is easy to walk out of an evening for some exercise and there are a couple of good pubs within easy walking distance if you fancy a change of scenery.

My wife and I booked one of the suites. Lovely spacious living room and a large bedroom with 4 poster bed. Staff are very friendly and a good breakfast. We will be staying again. There is a couple of good pubs around the corner.

We booked an Executive Room for 3 nights. Web site offered daily news paper, water, chocolates and tea & coffee facilities. We never saw any paper, nor chocolates and water and tea/coffee were not restocked. Room was not cleaned at all - nothing to say so prior to booking and other hotels offer cleaning etc when guests are out. Very poor indeed

every thing is there. just needs up dating. No grab handles to get in and out of the bath/shower. no shower mat, I understand covid and not having any income for twelve months, but its not changed since we stayed there four years ago.

Stayed here 3 weeks ago and last weekend. I have to commend the hotel on how well they are dealing with the current situation. The staff as ever are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious but to be honest we've never had a bad meal there. The room was immaculately clean with plenty of tea and coffee. There's a lovely walk round the dam a stones throw away and the pub opposite the car park serves lovely food. I would not hesitate to go back, in fact will be booking to go in November again. I'd recommend contacting the hotel for the best deals and not booking with Groupon.

The hotel desperately needs updating. BUT when we had a problem with our room they upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost apologising profusely. Website when we booked said a continental breakfast would be available but when we arrived a full Yorkshire could be ordered - a nice surprise. It is situated very close to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Pugneys Country Park. Within walking distance of Newmillerdam. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area because of value for money and the lovely understanding staff. We also felt very safe Covid wise. Plenty of hand sanitizer stations.

We stayed there for 4 nights and I understand about cov-19 but we never had our room cleaned the whole time we were there we were out every day bed was not made we had no clean towels but the other rooms were cleaned because we saw them being done as we were going out for the day if they had told us they would not be doing our room from the start it would have been fine

Dated hotel. Rooms pleasant. Very clean, just not modern. The staff are welcoming. Restaurant is OK, but one chef overdoes. it with salt. No healthy living here. Ample car parking plus 2 Bluebadge spaces.

Now full of illegal immigrants so you will be unable to book. Don't know how long this is for. Staff are trying to prevent people from knowing what's going on there. This is all taxpayers money. If you get the chance to book a room make sure you get illegal immigrant rates

This is full of immigrants this is more of of an hostel than hotel what a mess it looks total disgusting for such a beautiful village . I will never be booking or recommending this place again so sad to see a lovely hotel looking such a mess

Very friendly, the staff will go that little bit further to make sure you enjoy your stay, the restaurant was closed due to the Coronavirus, only the bar menu was available with limited staff, they did the best to make my stay as best as possible

Stayed here loads of times the staff and atmosphere is second to none the staff are more than helpful they can't do enough. Don't want to single out anyone member because there all brilliant. Will carry on using st piere when in the area .

Stayed for 2 nights as it was close to my business meetings the following day. Spacious room with good internet connection. Rathersmall bathroom but clean. Decent breakfast and both bar meal as dinner in restaurant were ok.

Whilst St Pierre isn't the modernist of places, what it lacks in it's decor it makes up in everything else. Me, my husband, my Sister and her husband stay here on a regular basis as it's not far from Sheffield where we live. It has great walks just a stones throw away, with lovely pubs close by. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and the food is excellent and well worth it's money. We used to go to Whitby twice or three times a year but now we've found St Pierre we don't have to travel so far for a welcomed break and go there around 6 times a year! So if you're thinking of staying here, do it, like I said, it's not modern but it's super clean and a great place for a welcomed break.

This was our 3rd visit to this Hotel. Brought some friends with us this time. Attentive staff, excellent food, and reasonable prices at the bar. Room was nice and clean and was lovely & warm. Good choice at breakfast and good quality ingredients. Nothing negative to say about the place. Will be back again later this year!

Clean room and comfortable bed. Staff were helpful and friendly Good base to visit the Hepworth in Wakefield and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Reasonable buffet breakfast. Excellent value overall. Decor slightly dated but that didn't matter to us.

This was remarkably good value. Clean room, spacious comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast. Staff were friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend to others. Had some difficulty parking initially, but this was due to a large group of elderly people attending a gathering, so left and had a little drive around, returning half an hour later

Excellent staff, hotel very clean but a bit dated, breakfast was great , but the evening meal we had was awful I never thought a gammon steak could taste so bad and my wife's fish was passable so.... go bed and breakfast and you will be delighted with this hotel , so all in all not bad except for the evening meal

Stayed for a night for business purposes it was comfortable and quiet. The food was nice we were the last to eat for their evening service which in turn delayed the courses coming out.. This wasnt a problem because the food was worth the wait, the only thing I did find unprofessional was after finishing our main course there was a long wait till our plates were cleared and offered dessert due the the restraunt staff eating their dinner in the same dinning area and after 15 minutes one of the staff noticed we were waiting and came over to assist while still having a mouth full of their dinner.

Friendly staff and clean and comfortable accommodation. Got groupon offer which was a fantastic offer and made the weekend away even cheaper. Short stroll to other pubs, 3 in total all of which did food. Visited Lakeside cafe for chateaubriand which was just melt in the mouth. Nice stroll round the dam

Excellent, staff are first class nothing is too much trouble, the food is excellent everything about this hotel is first class and excellent value for money, it's our second time at St Pierre but it won't be our last

I stay here on a regular basis when visiting my children and I cannot fault anything about my visits. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is very nice. On the odd occasion I've eaten dinner that is also very nice. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Been to Hotel St Pierre for Sunday lunch to celebrate my dads 90th birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Staff were very attentive throughout and nothing too much trouble. Can highly recommend and have booked again for next week.

We stayed on a chilly Friday night, the hotel was very quiet we were greetly warmly by reception staff who informed us of everthing we needed to know, our room was very clean very warm and had everything we should require for an overnight stay, we had a very good filling meal in the hotel resturant, with some lovely wine. Next morning after a cosy nights sleep in very nice bedding we had a lovely breakfast, there was huge choice and it was tasty (mushrooms a tad cold but hey ho) served in a lovely room, I think I will visit again and enjoy the hotel for its calmness, and pleasant location

Reception staff were tireless in their efforts to find us the perfect noise-free room. Restaurant staff at both dinner & breakfast were attentive, without being obtrusive. St Pierre was a very pleasant oasis after the long journey North.

50 Allotment buddies from St John's returned for our annual post Christmas Lunch. It was lovely to see the Monet Suite modernised and refurbished. As usual Melanie Hall and her team looked after us so well, nothing was too much trouble and I am now on first-name terms with the Chef and his staff who prepared a wonderful lunch - no complaints at all. We pre-book our menu choices which works extremely well and the room is always set out just as we like it. Thanks Mel and team for all your help, we will be returning next January without a doubt.

Needs a facelift. Couldn't get a meal in the restaurant on a Saturday night after a three hour journey. No food served on a Sunday. Not much to do in the area. Would not stay again if I am honest. Staff friendly

We have stayed here a few times. The staff are unbelievable so friendly and helpful they can't do enough for you. Food is delicious . Really enjoy it. Rooms very clean and comfortable bed. A real treat for us. Already looking forward to next visit.

We stayed after seeing a special offer. Thought its better than driving home and we can have a drink as well. Everybody we met was happy friendly and smiley. Nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Chelsea as she seemed to be everywhere when we arrived, sorted our rooms then served behind the bar. The room was comfy, everything you could need. We will be staying again

As a 3 star hotel it is basic but good. We have stayed a couple of times on Groupon deals, and the hotel can't be faulted on value for money. The room was big, although a bit dated for some. The service from the staff is excellent as is the food. Had the pork chop for dinner, and it was extremely good. The location is perfect for walking around Newmillerdam, and we would definitely stay again.

Went to this hotel with family for new years eve I can only say what a joy it was from begining to the end we arrived the afternoon to an afternoon tea the food was brilliant fresh sandwiches cheese and crackers and all types of cakes tea and coffee too so much choice the staff were great too very helpful they couldn't do enough for us .the evening started at 7ish with prosecco there was 13 of us we were in a side room just off the main room we had a fantastic table it was as if we had our own room again the food was wonderful we had different things I had the halibut for my main course it was beautiful. There was 4 courses followed by coffee and chocolates the staff again were wonderful nothing was too much trouble the table was cleared quickly for each course the music was good there was a couple singing they were very good .our room was very clean we were on the ground floor plenty of tea and coffee in the room .breakfast next morning was just as good there was a good choice from a full english to cereal even smoked salmon i can only say thankyou to mel and all the staff thankyou from all of us for a really memorable time we will be back

Stayed here for New Year's Eve overnight package good priced drinks excellent food staff worked very hard all night and at breakfast only thing I could say about the hotel is rooms need updating all in all an enjoyable night well done

It was a lovely night with lovely people, the staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was very well done in my opinion and the wine was great, we had 2 bottles of prosecco for midnight and I barely noticed it go down!

We have just had a wonderful celebration at the St Pierre for our Golden Wedding Anniversary with 61 guests.I cannot thank the staff, Melanie in particular, enough for taking care of absolutely everything. She was always available to help and give the best advice down to the smallest details. The celebration room and tables looked beautiful. The food and service excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole experience surpassed our expectations. Quite a few of the guests stayed at the hotel and commented on how helpful and friendly the staff were. I would highly recommend the Hotel for any function.

We were organising a wedding reception for our son but to follow a tiny intimate ceremony with a limited number of guests. From start (the initial enquiry) to finish (the wedding breakfast itself) Melanie and the team were superb! We booked accommodation for ourself and the bride and groom and Mel supported us with the best rooms, nothing was too much for this amazing team. She helped us choose the right room for the wedding breakfast, suggesting last minute changes just to make it absolutely perfect. We cannot commend this team and the venue enough for anyone, especially, a short notice winter wedding. Will never be able to thank them enough!

I cannot speak highly enough about the lovely party we had here for my aunties surprise 60th birthday party. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional and Mel couldn't do enough to help us and went out of her way with personal touches which made it extra special. The planning and on the night were great and the party went seamlessly and a great time was had by all. Would highly recommend the function room and they were responsive to our needs and wants. The food was of good quality and very tasty and they were very family friendly.

We had our wedding here this weekend and I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff at hotel st Pierre for helping to make our day so perfect. Mel in particular has been amazing for me and my husband from day one when we first booked our wedding here. She has been there to answer all our questions and assist with all the little changes we have made along the way. And this weekend has gone above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. The day itself was everything we could have hoped for and more and I would definitely recommend this hotel to any future brides!

Average hotel We have stayed twice now and both times been refused room service after 9pm because the kitchen was closed, after my first visit I was told I should have been offered at least a sandwich but nothing had changed surely it's not difficult to make a sandwich with a few crisps on the side so they could teach the bar staff or reception to do this. The beds are not the most comfortable we have slept in and not sure about the trust issue of holding money from your card and returning it a couple of days later if you don't spend it .

Stayed hear twice on a Groupon Deal. Ideally situated for the Village which has 3 excellent pubs. Check in was prompt. Evening meal was of good quality with no complaints. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was of good quality also. Rooms were clean and tidy. Bar area had plenty of seating. Hotel staff were very friendly and nothing was any trouble. Would definitely stay again. Recommended!

Not a great stay. The hotel is a bit tired looking and in need of a refurb! Breakfast was very limited choice on the buffet. The omelettes are okay. Wouldn't recommend the smoked salmon and egg (stingy on the salmon and shell in the egg). Staff aren't overly friendly. Evening meals are better, you get what you pay for. Big rooms, comfortable beds but thin walls!

Check in was straightforward. Room was on 3rdfloor - lift only gpes to 2! Not a problem for us, but it might be for some. Bar meal good. Breakfast good. Room average. I thought bed too soft, but my husband found it comfortable. Shower not great, but ok. Good tea and coffee in room. Staff fine. Good location. Handy for motorway, Sheffield and Wakefield, but nice country ambience, with walks nearby.

We recently had a charity night ball at St Peirre for Forget Me Not Children's hospice. The night was fantastic. The room was beautifully decorated in the charities colours. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Mel is an incredible events organiser who goes above and beyond her duties. All the bar staff/waitresses are wonderfully mannered and really make you feel at home. I would not hesitate to have future events at this beautiful hotel.

Amazing staff, very helpful! Breakfast was of a great standard, and although the room had little lighting this didn't affect our stay at all. Lovely little break away before the birth of our child. Highly recommend.

Big shoutout to Mel for organising our Army reunion, she made it so easy and understood what we needed. The staff were all amazing. The bedrooms were really nice, clean and tastefully decorated, everything you would expect. The breakfast was outstanding. They even catered for dietary needs (gluten free.) The event was fantastic, they allowed us to decorate with flags, bunting and balloons. 30 people attended and all fed back with positive comments. Brilliant value for money, served with professionalism. Their DJ was brilliant and kept us all dancing, I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for any function. The staff are flexible and cater to all needs. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be using them again. You will not be disappointed with any function here.

Well what a fantastic venue!! The whole weekend went smoothly without any issues. The staff went beyond what was needed just to make my day special. Mel helped me plan my day from start to finish and gave me guidance from the first time we met. If I had any queries she was quick to answer emails and returning phone calls. My guests had the best time at my wedding and that was down to Mel and the staff at the St Pierre. I cannot thank you enough, shall we do it all again next weekend? Thank you

We have stayed here a dozen times this year and love it. Very friendly staff that can't do enough for you. Nice clean rooms, and fantastic value for money. The food is very good,and plentiful. Would definitely recommend. A and L Brown.

Close to a beautiful village with lovely walks. The receptionist was friendly and helpful on arrival but was covering a number of roles (reception, bar, coffee) which meant people had to wait quite a while. Evening meal was okay but the staff seemed unsure and lacking in confidence. We were advised that there would be a delay with our deserts, when asked roughly how long they didn't know and didn't think to ask the kitchen. We decided to forego desert and head to the bar only to find the same team were serving bar meals as well as the restaurant - they could have even suggested we relaxed in the bar and they'd bring desert. The room (top floor) was clean, and adequate for a short stay but there was an issue with the plumbing, sound of water running all night that was loud enough to keep me awake and when a neighbouring room used water we got a high pitched noise. Reception was informed on check out so hopefully the next visitor's to that room didn't experience the same. Good selection of hot and cold breakfast items and the cooked food was replenished regularly.

Managed our wedding reception and helped massively with the planning for the whole day. As we have family from far and wide accommodation was a priority and this was arranged flawlessly. They also provide additional toiletries on request. Wedding breakfast, buffet and breakfast in the morning was superb and managed by attentive staff. Breakfasts were fresh cooked to order. Hotel is located 5 minutes from Newmillerdam, with some local amenities. Whilst we are local we will be recommending this hotel for visiting friends and family in the future.

Visiting family in Royston, the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, room was clean and cleaned every day, breakfast was very nice and plenty of choice. The bar stays open late. Would stay again. Thank you.

Staying overnight as a solo traveller on this occasion. Felt very welcome and the staff could not do enough for me. Very pleasant, helpful and effective in their job roles. Friendly and helpful at reception. Room was upgraded as hotel was quiet, so I enjoyed a larger room. The room was spotless, if a little dated but nothing was missing from the stated offer and the kettle and cups were sparklingly clean. Shower easy to regulate and reasonably powerful. Bar staff assistend me in request for reduced salt/butter to my meal. The food was made perfectly to my dietary requirents as requested and I was able to enjoy the meal in my room watching a good movie. Part of hotel being renovated so hotel did not look its best from the outside due to the whitewashed windows of the function room, but work will be completed very shortly. Excellent location for my visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Would certainly like to stay again.

Stayed for just one night room only, hotel was welcolming and reception very friendly and helpful, our room was of a good size and nicely furnished, also everywhere was very clean, bed very comfortable.

The first time we've been here and it will be the last. As you walk in the dining room is on the right with no atmosphere at all, it looked really boring and we would not eat there. We were asked if we wanted breakfast for £8. 50 and if we didn't book it then it would be £14. What? We have 2 breakfasts in Wetherspoons for £8.The walls in the room were so thin you could here everything next door. The milk provided was in sachets which I've never seen before and didn't risk trying to open one. The bed was quite small but all was clean. Not coming back

We stayed here 2 days on a business trip to Wakefield. It is a lovely hotel, clean and comfortable.. Staff were very pleasant and helpful especially the lady who booked us in on reception. The restaurant was quite small and the menu very limited buthe bar menu as varied. We ate two nights in the restaurant and it was ok but nothing special.

The hotel is dated once out of reception, the corridors are dark brickwork and gives a very enclosed feeling, the rooms are in need of a paint and new carpet as both were marked all over. The bed was large and the room was a nice size. The bathroom was on the small size in comparison to the room. Breakfast was pleasant with a good choice of freshly cooked food as well as the normal cereals and pastries. It's a little out of town but there is a nice walk to the local pubs.

Okay so the room is a bit dated but it was clean and comfortable. We had the £69 Groupon deal and couldn't fault it. Glass of wine each on arrival, two course evening meal and breakfast. Great little break

The room was clean enough. There was no AC and the window was tiny, there was no view outside. There was sufficient space and furniture for two people. TV worked fine. The bathroom was tiny for a hotel, but clean enough and the shower was good and hot enough. Its good if you want somewhere quite and remote. The day there was a function the car park was jam packed which meant we had to park off road on grass near a field. They were meant to leave at 11pm, after I asked on the phone they said the ar park was empty, when i went down most of the ars were still there, managed to find one but meant trecking few mins down the country road at almost midnight. Staff were helpful when we had questions. Nothing really to do nearby on foot, no shops withing walking distance, think one was 30 min walk. Theres a lake nearby for a good walk. You really need a car/train to do anything entertaining in the day. The Food: The Good... The scampi and chips was nice as a first meal. The Veg curry was prob the best meal I had. Served with naan and popadons and sauces....A nice flavour too. The apple crumble was just ok, esp as I couldnt pour the custard over it. Breakfast omelette was actually quite good and filling. The buffet selection was limited but had yoghurt, cereal and juices. You had to order most things via menu. When we ordered the Indian MIx started im ont sure which was the pakora and which was the onion bhaji and there was just one small samosa, 2 would be better. The pizza tbh was prob one of the worst ive had, the dough base (which i assume was freshly made) had a strong yeasty smell and the cheese was not nice. (This is my opinion based on trying many different pizzas) The Bad... Limited choice in the restaurant especially for vegans. It was difficult to ascertain the price food items as they were not individually priced. A 3 course meal costs about £25 per person. Sometimes the wait can be long, even at breakfast. Bar staff seemed a bit panicky when ordering or asking questions. On one day there was a function in the hotel which meant guest staying in the hotel had to wait till 8PM to order food (and usually dinner ended at 8.30PM), even after 8PM ordering was tricky, with the restaurant not serving . So we had order at the bar, which at the same time was serving the people from the function. They were kind enough to waiver the tray to room fee. Nachos we ordered one day were horrible tbh...they were glued together with hard cheese, with the salsa at the bottom impossible to reach without tearing the nachos apart with both hands. Nachos should be like at the cinema, nice crispy seperate nachos...runny cheese and seperate salsa dip. The custard on both occassions was horrible. It was hard and curdled. Custard should be piping hot, runny enough to pour and smooth with no curdles. First day ordered omelette and a hash brown, the hash brown never came. Cleaners kept leaving bags of tea/coffee sachets etc.. by the end of our stay we had like a plastic bag full of the stuff, we just left it there. I think there was a bug going round there alot of people were coughing or clearing there throats. Last day a hug spider crawled out from under the bed..

Family room was not accessible fully if you have a pram need help to get to if your on your own or want to take pram to room alone. Sky light in room so light woke us and baby up. Bathroom tiny too not very good

Had our wedding here on the 28th I cant thank Mel and the staff for everything they did not just for me and my husband but all our family and close friends, nothing was ever a task when we asked for things or If anything needs doing it's was Also immediately, everyone is lovely and so welcoming and they made our day that extra special. The food was excellent especially the sausages for breakfast and the Yorkshire pudding we had for wedding breakfast, would definitely recommend anyone to go here for there wedding day or even just a night away.

The best part of our wedding was we didnt have to worry about anything as the wedding ran smoothly. Preparation goes a long way on our part and that of the wedding coordinator Melanie. Melanie is quite an extraodinary woman with her years of experience in knowing what works in a wedding reception and making those personal touches to our wedding that would reflect on who we are as a couple. Melanie worked very closely with us in guiding us in our preparations in the 6 months before the final day. She was always happy to see us and took a personal interest in making sure our wedding day would be a day we would cherish. Nothing was too much trouble for her The Hotel also works closely with Thompsons Towers whom provided the room decorations and colours themes, actually seeing it on the day was simply stunning. Finally and most importantly we received lots of comments from our guests on the quality and quantity of food at the wedding breakfast and evening reception. I was aware that the Hotel had won awards in 2018 for the quality of food so it was no surprise that the food was simply outstanding. All our guests said they had a wonderful time and it was the best wedding they had been to and with a great atmosphere. The staff were amazing and looked after us so well the whole day. Again particular praise goes to Melanie whom without her the day would not have been the success it was.

We had our wedding reception at Hotel St Pierre, and it was amazing. Melanie who co-ordinates the weddings is helpful, experienced and friendly, making our day certainly run without any problems whatsoever. The room was beautifully decorated, the staff were all helpful and professional. They were helpful the morning after making sure we'd remembered all our things and getting us back on our way as husband and wife. For the package deal we took, I don't see how you can get better value for money. 5 stars.

Not too bad a stay, Nice area with a few nice local bars just down the road. Hotel a bit dated but served the purpose. Staff very helpful and friendly, Bar area could do with some comfy seats. Only had 1 breakfast as eat out all the time, huge breakfast though. Generally needs updating

Stayed here Friday and Saturday nights for a wedding. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and given a room on the 1st floor which overlooked fields. The room was opposite the lift and we thought it may have been noisy however we didn't hear anything. The room was clean albeit decor a little tired. We understand from the staff however the rooms are going through a period of updating. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and were surprised with the quality of the food. Breakfast was included in our stay, fruit, yoghurt and cereals and full English. The food at the wedding reception compared well to the meal we had the previous evening and the wedding supper too. The hotel was clean and staff were pleasant and accommodating. The hotel wedding planner did a fab job. The hotel is very close to nice walks and not too far away from the main shopping centre. Would stay here again

We had our wedding at hotel st pierre yesterday 06/09/19. From the moment we met Mel and the team in March 2018 nothing felt too much trouble. Our wedding day was the best day we could have imagined and much more....Mel and her team worked there socks off from dusk until dawn. If you are looking for a place to get married I would highly recommend Hotel st Pierre!

Excellent venue for a wedding! The staff here go above and beyond for your special day, there's not a detail missed and they set the place up fantastically. It was an amazing atmosphere from start to finish and I can not thank Mel and the team enough for what a great day we had.

The family room we stayed in was located on the 4th floor, however the lift only goes up to the 2nd floor. So at 9 in the evening after a family wedding we had to lug our pram case and two children up two levels of stairs. The room was absolutely boiling, the windows didnt open, and in the double side the window had no blind so let the light in at 6am. The pillows were really hard, we did not sleep well here at all. Not an enjoyable stay and i would not recommend.

St Pierre is a great little hotel. It is looking a little tired now and is due a refresh, however I have stayed here twice and both stays have been perfect. The breakfast is excellent! The location is beautiful!

We had our Wedding at Hotel St Pierre recently. We requested relaxed, informal but meaningful. We got what we asked for. Mel and the whole team looked after us from first walking in not knowing we would get married there. Nothing was too much. I can definitely recommend for any function, party, stay over night, even just to call for a coffee. Every bit of food we had was delicious, canapes, buffet and breakefast. Its on our door step and we had never been there, we will definitely be back. Thank you St Pierre.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay in one of Hotel St Pierre's lovely suites. We were warmly welcomed by Tracy, enjoyed a very nice meal on the first night (special mention for the delicious mushy peas), and enjoyed a few drinks in the bar where the ever helpful Josh couldn't do enough to ensure all guests were well looked after (especially appreciated in the middle of a wedding). The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and I very much appreciated extra coffee sachets being left when I asked for it. The daily chocolate bar is a nice touch too. Thank you very much Richard and team for your kind hospitality. We look forward to coming back! Hopefully soon...

Recently stayed in wake field for a weekend away with my partner and few friends, The hotel was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay with you. The only thing was the standard of food was a bit of a let down with the steak being over cooked for our taste aside from this we will defiantly be back again. Lovely environment with a few great country pubs . Many thanks!

Went there for two days to meet some friends, had a Groupon deal, so it was a bit cheaper and a free bottle of wine. The staff were very friendly, it was busy. Our first night included a free meal, and you could have any dish from three different menus. The food was lovely, the waiters excellent. The breakfasts were big and enough to fill you up for the whole day. The bedrooms were spotless and they managed two weddings for the two nights that we were there. This hotel seems to have everything going for it.

This hotel is well located if you want a quiet spot close to the county park and the Hepworth gallery. It is very reasonably priced but the interior of the hotel has seen better days and really needs a face lift. The staff and very good and helpful. Apart from drinks we only had breakfast which was good with speedy service and a good choice.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel, the staff were all friendly, helpful and professional, the food was all home made and tasted fantastic, the room was clean and had everything we needed, the bar was very relaxing. All in all a great experience.

Again very friendly staff. Spacious room. Clean & tidy. Comfortable bed. We slept like a log lol we went out locally within walking distance to a couple of pubs. Fresh air did us the world of good & as soom as our heads hit the pillows we were sparked out. I did say comfortable bed lol thanks again. Im sure we will be back x

The hotel was unclean and outdated, paid extra for a suite, it was dreadful, it was also in the loft space so very hot in the summer with no windows that could open, I asked to move, was downgraded to a standard double, which strangely was slightly better, and definitely cleaner. I wouldn't recommend staying here there are far better hotels at a similar price, if you do stay, do not waste the extra money on a suite!

Just make sure there isn't a wedding going on and that your room isn't at the front to avoid noise disturbance. Nice pubs and walks close by and near motorway connections and city centre with everything you need.

Loved the hotel clean comfortable, great food. All the staff were superb. Helpful efficient, friendly and very helpful. Lovely setting. My wife and I were guests at a wedding reception, there was another on at same time. No less efficient? I recommend this hotel highly.

Stayed there for one night only. In room 221. The view looked out onto woods which was very pleasant. It was very clean in bathroom and the room, but carpet though vacuum look stained and needed replacing. The rooms were a little tired in general but still very clean. Hot water very hot in bathroom so mind the little ones. Breakfast was good a nice selection from the usual continental to full English. Staff very accommodation and friendly. Only thing I personally didn't appreciate was while waiting outside for taxi there were alot of smokers near the door. I had to go back inside the foyer because I got sick of breathing in their smoke. Otherwise great stay and slept very well. I would stay there again.

i was only there for one night but it was enough , the room i was in was old fashioned and in need of some serious TLC , it was clean but looked dated the wifi signal was poor the service in restaurant was poor, the guy serving seemed out of his depth and untrained my soup was cold and tasteless he offered to microwave it it also came with a roll and two pats of butter that were as hard and as cold as ice cubes the main was okay but juts okay it was just the time it took to get a meal or drink or anything that was the issue i thought the break fast was okay until i had to pay , 14 quid a bit steep and when i was told if i had pre-booked only have been 8 well that is not good

Spent a couple of nights at this hotel and would not hesitate to return. Large, comfortable bed and room, fantastic breakfast, and beautiful area - stunning an easy walk from the hotel door. Staff very friendly, attentive and courteous.

This hotel without a doubt is to be avoided. Rooms are dirty old fashioned and have the worst bathrooms I've ever experienced. Dank stuffy poorly ventilated room with stains on the beds and carpets. I changed my initial room to a family room but it was on the top floor and even more stuffy with the same old out of date electrics, wall mounted TV that must be 15 year old very poor sound quality. The beds are cheap quality with a mattress that provides little to no comfort. Each morning I woke up in agony due to such a bad nights sleep. Seriously I can not wait to catch my flight home !!! There's no fridge in your room and as it's so warm and stuffy it's impossible to have a cool drink. The bathroom is totally out of date with a fixed over bath shower head very 1970's no water pressure ( as you're in the attic space ) poor flush on wc. My whole experience at this hotel was stressful and turned my trip into a tiring experience. The house keeping was lazy not making beds correctly not removing dirty glasses or cutlery not replenishing towels or coffee. Just pure laziness. Someone should teach house keeping how to use a vacuum cleaner as the carpets are disgusting. I would never stay in this hotel again or recommend anyone else to. There are better options within the immediate area. I felt sorry for the nice girl on reception but she really needs to get a job elsewhere as her good customer service is wasted in this dump.

Certainly not the most modern decorated. But I prefer the more 'homely' feel anyway. We stayed in a spacious family room on the top floor (Mind Your Head!). The beds were comfy and the room was clean. We stayed during the aftermath of a record breaking heatwave, the room and corridor were very warm. Some bottled water in the room would have been a nice touch, especially in this situation. We chose to eat at the restaurant, which was the only downside to our visit really. I found the food to be too expensive for what it was. There are two charming pubs and a restaurant just a short walk down the road. I found the hotel to have good levels of cleanliness. The highlight of the visit was the staff. Everyone we encountered on our stay were approachable and helpful.

We had our evening reception here after our Las Vegas wedding a few weeks prior. We followed recommendations from Mel (the wedding co-ordinator) and booked Thompson towers and ace party's magic mirror. Mel and the team honestly could not do more for us and decorated the room beautifully. The DJ was great and the guests loved the Buffett. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a venue for their evening reception.

The Hotel was clean comfortable and well managed. The bedroom was pleasant and very clean.Staff were always helpful and the food was good. A lovelyhotel to spend time in. It was ideally placed for our short visit to Yorshire.

5star review for the staff friendliness and efficiency. The hotel looks a bit tired though. I stayed in an executive double which to be honest was very basic. No idea why it would have been better than a standars room. The outdoor area consists of about 5 small tables and chairs outside the main entrance basically in the car park. It was ok but nothing special.

We had our Daughters evening wedding party at st Pierre. Everything was organized perfectly by Mel , thank you. The buffet was excellent. Everyone really enjoyed it . The DJ did a brilliant job too. We wished to return to our hometown of Barnsley to research our family tree and a Groupon came up for The Best Western St Pierre Hotel in Newmillerdam. This was for a two night stay B&B with a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine on the first night and late check out. I really do not know how they do this deal for the money! The Staff - they were so relaxed but efficient, you could tell they all enjoyed their job and this led to a very appealing atmosphere. They cater for weddings and events which I imagine will be popular. The food - Excellent! We had the Indian starter and chicken curry which was 5 star quality made to our taste with all the trimmings and a bottle of Sauvignon all included in the deal. I was so good we ate there the second night too. They have a restaurant but you can eat in the lounge bar which we chose as it was a great venue. The room - We had 212 which was a nice quiet room. No view and the window only opened about 10 inch but it was adequate. Bathroom with bath and shower. Everything you could need. The decor is a bit 70s but spotless and well laid out. The area - We know Newmillerdam well being born and bred in Barnsley and i is still a lovely area to visit and walk around and enjoy the wildlife. We had fabulous weather which really does help. There are also another two pubs if you want a pub crawl. If you want a really nice relaxing stay with excellent food and service give St Pierre a visit.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a base for Durham (don't ask cricket world cup was on) and then Leeds. Hotel was cheap less than £60 per night and the staff were great, the beds were very comfortable (3rd and 4th floors) and the room clean, the free wifi was a good speed. The only thing I could moan about was the pressure of the shower which wasn't great but usable. Didn't eat here but the food looked very good. The first night was really warm and sunny so gravitated to the Dam Inn PH just past the dam down the hill. This was really busy and a great spot to watch the world go by on a wednesday evening. Plenty of parking and around 5 minutes to get on the M1, Newmillardam is lovely and next time I'm back I will take my running gear to go for a run around the area.

This is my go to hotel whenever I want a break a way. The rooms are lovely, the staff are friendly and I absolutely love the area; Newmillerdam lake next door is always a joy and just love the overall sense of serenity I always experience when I stay as a guest. The free wifi is always a bonus to.

We had a wonderful day for our wedding everyone enjoyed it food was good. Just a few niggles, guest rooms could be obtained cheaper on groupon. Decorations and guests favours disappeared. Evening buffet in adjoining room was missed by some guests as it wasn't announced. But overall a very memorable day. Thank you.

We had the most perfect wedding day at Hotel Saint Pierre. I have nothing bad to say about it. We had the ceremony, reception and evening reception at the hotel and it was very good value. Mel the wedding co-ordinator was great and from the very begining made everything so easy and nothing was any trouble. Everything was decorated to perfection. Thompson towers provided a lot of the extra decorations and it all looked beautiful. The food was fantastic so thanks to the chef. Everyone who came said how much they enjoyed the day. The DJ at the evening reception was fantastic and played all the music everyone liked. He even took photos of our first dance and sent them to us. A few people stayed at the hotel which was available at a discount for guests. All in all I would definitely recommend this venue. Thanks to all at Hotel St Pierre for a thoroughly memorable day . Very poor accomodation. Room 405 on top of hotel had a very small window with curtains that were tied together and could not be opened, this made it very dark. Also i had a desk chair which was very unstable and the dust was very thick- I have pictures to prove it.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I can honestly say I had no complaints at all and I will be returning again and again. This hotel is in a beautiful location at New Miller Dam. The interior of the hotel is lovely and the rooms are lovely too. The food at dinner and breakfast is superb and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and they all go out of their way to help and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I'd like to take the opportunity to say thank you for making my stay so special and a truly relaxing and stress free experience. I will definitely be back!

Stopped here for 2 nights. Room very spacious and comfortable. Staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Only ate in restaurant for breakfast but again Staff were great and friendly and the food was freshly cooked and very good. It is also in a lovely location, 5 mins walk from New Millar Dam. Would definitely return if back in area.

What a great place to celebrate our breast cancer support group-Breast of Friends-quarter century anniversary. The room was beautifully presented, the staff very attentive and the food delicious. Would recommend to anyone looking for a that personal touch for their event.

Old, tired hotel. Desperately in need of a complete overhaul. Everything about this place is stuck in the past but it was ideally located for my business needs. Chef needs a kick up the backside, just because its deep fried fish doesn't mean i want half the contents of the fryer on my plate.

Had our wedding here on the 25th May 19. Well what can I say, our wedding was perfect in everyway. From arriving at the hotel we had quite a few rooms booked for bridal party and guests. All room very clean tidy. The beds were so comfortable and bedding was lovely and fresh. The morning of our wedding lots of things were being delivered staff were fantastic ringing me in my room to make me aware. And for Mel she was just fabulous sorting things out to the lead up too the ceremony. She deserves a medal She has helped me from day one 2 years ago to plan my wedding and it was perfect. I had the room changed 3 times through out the day for different things and couldn't fault any of the staff. Fantastic team. At the evening do the dj was brilliant he is just what you need, made us all feel so welcome with everyone on the dance floor partying the night away. Overall I wouldn't have changed anything at our wedding we loved it and love Mel for all the hard work she put in and also the team. Keep up the good work Mel & the team xx

From the moment we arrived at Hotel St Pierre everything was brilliant. The first night the bridal party stayed in the 4 poster room (211) which was spacious allowing the party to get ready easier, clean and well appointed. The wedding was perfect. Mel & her team worked magic, nothing was too much trouble and both Mel and Rebecca was happy to talk everything through with us before the wedding. Thompson Towers provided the decorations which completed the rooms to a high professional finish. The function room was exactly how we wanted it and the food was exceptional with a lot of complimentary comments from our guests. The resident DJ was brilliant, playing a wide selection of music and getting everyone up dancing. Our day was perfect and would highly recommend Hotel St Pierre. The wedding night we stopped in the directors suite (408) which was gorgeous, beautifully decorated complete with whirlpool bath. We had breakfast on both mornings which was great with a good selection of options. All staff was polite and friendly,we would like to personally signal out Mel who is the wedding fairy and was even on hand to help with our 3 year son when he was overwhelmed during the ceremony.

My best friend got married here in March 2019, she spent a lot of time planning this and paying attention to detail. We stayed over the night before, the bride and bridesmaids. We arrived to check in and was told that £100 needed to be taken off our cards as a deposit, this wasn't confirmed on booking, not all of the girls had £100 to take off their card which caused stress and wasted time sorting it out. We then had a pamper package which was lovely and couldn't really be faulted, it was the perfect girly night my best friend wanted the night before her big day and she was finally started to relax. The morning of the wedding we had breakfast in the restaurant which was lovely. In the mean time third parties were arriving, to set up the room, the florist etc. The bride called reception to ask the florist to fetch the flowers to our rooms where she was incredibly rude, as you can imagine my best friend was already feeling stressed and nervous on her big day, this just fuelled it even more. The florist delivered the flowers to our room after eventually being allowed. and said the staff had been ridiculously rude and after she spoke to us she was swearing and being extremely rude about the ‘bride to be'. Staff continued to be rude on numerous occasions throughout the day and there was other factors leading up to and after the big day which should of been handled much differently. It was still absolutely beautiful day, it's just disappointing that the staff here don't take into consideration their guests/customers and events, especially on such a big occasion. And if my friend hadn't but the time and effort in sourcing outside companies, I dread to think how it would of gone.

My daughter had her wedding here What a pain that was ...... the wedding was lovely but trying to access rooms was a pain We had family travelling the wedding was at 1pm We asked if it was possible to have our rooms at 10am and also 12pm for travelling family to get changed, I was personally told that was not a problem on the phone when we booked to then turn up with cases dresses suits steamer to be told no even tho the rooms were empty and not used the night before we would be charged extra if we wanted them before 3pm When the receptionist was confronted about this with my other daughter she swore and walked off and was very rude, the following day she denied this Anyway the rooms had cobwebs in the windows and were really out dated I took a photo in a mirror with my kids the mirror was that dirty it was appalling and I have the pic to prove this All I can say is ..... dirty place with rude staff!!!!

After spending two years planning our wedding i am disheartened that i have to write a bad review. I will say that the DJ , Food and the spa staff were amazing. However my guests where left appalled with the staffs behaviour and attitude towards us.(one even swearing in front of my florist) The wedding coordinator lied to me and told me my dad didnt want to see me before i walk down the aisle - turns out he was told he wasnt to come to my room... The wedding seating plan that was included in the package price was a piece of paper stuck on the wall with 3 names spelt incorrectly and didnt even include my father in law. My mum was told she could check in to her £115 room early as no one was booked in, when we went for the key in the morning i was basically called a liar. i asked the receptionist to speak to the previous person who was on reception and the girl wouldnt. she said they wouldnt give me the room early as this is loosing the hotel money, bearing in mind i had 3 rooms booked for the night before and after. We were 15 minutes late into our room for meal as the wedding coordinator was showing another couple around Even showed them into our room that was decorated by a third party! while we were sat waiting... i asked her about this the next day to be told that her manager booked this in and she had to follow her diary. I emailed the manager my complaints to be told no one was showed round during my day .... I feel as if i have been made out to be a liar. the above issues are not half of them but i dont generally write reviews unless i feel necessary. If you decide to get married here i would consider using a third party wedding organiser who can also be there on the day as things discussed beforehand do not happen and you also need to check every detail and get everything discussed in writing however getting a response to emails is difficult. I feel the wedding coordinator is understaffed and more attention to details is definitely needed.

Always a great friendly hotel to stay at for commuting to either Wakefield or Barnsley, staff always friendly and helpful. Hotel is outside of City Centres ,Quiet, which is useful when on business as don't want sleep disrupted. Food choice is good and if ask Chefs will listen and if have available , cook to your liking.

We have stayed at the St Pierre in the past and it is still just as good as it was before and the staff were lovely as usual . We had an executive room this time which wasn't much more expensive but well worth it

The hotel is situated near the New Miller Dam, & the view across the Dam is lovely. The hotel staff were very helpful, & the food was plentiful & reasonably priced as were the drinks. The room was spacious & comfortable & I slept well.

My husband & i have just returned from an overnight stay. We arrived at reception & was asked to 'hang on a minute' by a man who was unfortunately not wearing a name badge but is easily identifiable by his ginger hair & beard. We waited at least 3 minutes for him to finish something that could have waited until he had 'welcomed' his guests, the warm welcome i expected never came and we were grunted at whilst being given our key and told we were on the top floor with no lift available. We found out ourselves there was a lift at least to the second floor. The room was very dated, a loft room with a sloping ceiling which my 6ft husband could not stand up in , the toilet did not flush properly and the shower was a trickle. The curtains were ridiculous as the window was sloped and would not hold a standard sized curtain. The best thing about our stay was the food, superb and plenty of it. The restaurant staff were lovely and very helpful , always with a cheery smile. Such a shame the room was so shabby & the 'ginger man' couldnt be bothered with us otherwise i would have been tempted to revisit.

This is one of the best hotels I have been in lately, they could not have been more helpful, they even phoned for a taxi for me when my car was in the garage being repaired. the rooms are of a good size and the showers work very well, the hotel is clean and food for breakfast cooked when you order it not a Buffet.

Excellent breakfast. Staff were friendly and efficient. Booked an Executive Room but don't think it was worth the difference tbh. I gather some rooms have been refurbished but ours definitely wasn't amongst them. Comfortable enough. One particularly noisy guest woke us twice during the night but not the hotel's fault.

Excellent service from the moment of booking right through to the day Mel the wedding co-ordinate was fantastic couldn't do enough for us very down to earth all our guests commented on how good Mel and the team was. Lovely atmosphere resident DJ was fab too again couldn't do enough for us. Rooms where spot on food was beautiful lovely friendly staff. Thank you for making our day so special.

We held a family party at St Pierre on the 20th of April. Melanie the duty manager was fantastic and the resident DJ was excellent. The food was terrific, well presented and very tasty. Then we danced the night away until we ran out of time . Thanks St Pierre for a wonderful evening.

We entered to a friendly and efficient greeting and check in by Tracy. After settling in we went for dinner and had a lovely wine and two courses. Then The food was delicious with good service despite a wedding going on. The wedding wss not obtrusive and rather pleasant too. The room was very clean and the bed had a comfortable firmness. Breakfast had several options and check out was super easy. The area is residential and peaceful so we went for an evening walk around the reservoir. Great spot to get to local attractions like the Hepworth Wajefield gallery or Yorkshire Sculpture Park!

Courteous and helpful late night check-in, it was nice to be recognised by the night porter even though I was back after four years. Comfortable Room and healthy breakfast options were catered to. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Had our wedding on Good Friday and the hotel was superb. Melanie and Richard accommodated everyone really well. Even the photographer who managed to get an exclusive of Richard. Lol. Rooms are nice and clean and staff are friendly throughout. The meals for our wedding breakfast were spot on. Portions couldn't be better and everyone seemed to enjoy. If anyone is thinking of a venue for a simple, elegant wedding. This place fits the bill with amazing photo opportunities down near Newmillerdam.

We just wanted a night away to unwind and the Best Western was the perfect place, nothing was too much trouble the food was delicious and all in all the whole experience was excellent value for money, I would certainly recommend it

The photos on the website need updating as the rooms are very outdated and in need of some serious refurbishment. I didn't like the daisy chaining of extension leads not at all safe. Staff very pleasant, I didn't have dinner as the menu was limited but I'm sure I could have asked for something healthier. Wouldn't stay there again.

Just had a weekend here with one of their offers, 2 nights dinner and some Gin tasting. We don't live too far but liked the look of just getting away for a couple. Its a 3 * hotel so we were realistic about the level of comfort. The room was clean and everything worked fine. The service was FANTASTIC, nothing was a trouble, the staff were very pleasant, polite and easy to speak to. We also ate in the bar and the restaurant both nights (one as part of the package the second was just because we couldn't easily find somewhere else because it was busy) and I'm glad we did eat there. The menu is standard but the food was done very well and that's what you want - decent portion and presented well - both nights. Breakfast was very good too. I had smoked haddock one morning - cooked very well. Overall a great value for money stay and pleasant staff. I hope to return at some point.

Rooms need refurbished beds so uncomfy 2 singles stuck together and fell apart in middle Creaking floor boards from guests above was kept awake all night with them walking up and down . Had to check out early as couldn't bare a 2 night stay at this hotel

Well what can we say this was the most amazing wedding ,from the start of dealing with Mel and her team we was welcomed felt so much effort from Mel and her team ,they made our day so magical it was truly unbelievable every thing from start to finish was the best day ever we had over 100 quest who each said they had the best day ever and the staff couldn't do enough to make it special the whole weekend was wonderful this hotel and the team make this place what it is are a great team to make anyone's wedding so special ,the food was restaurant quality we have not got one thing we could say negative about this place Mel we adore you and your team you simply don't get the credit you all deserve working at this hotel your boss should be paying you highly for your hard work and dedication to this place ,if Mels boss is reading this please please give these lot some kind of a reward for how hard they work at your hotel love you all Mel your truly wonderful and you have th4 best team ever thankyou so so so much

We had a family party for my mum and dads Diamond Anniversary in the Cezzane room which was perfect. It was private with its own bar. The buffet was superb and Melanie could not do enough for us. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We had our wedding there in December and mel the wedding coordinator went above and beyond, the hotel itself is clean and the rooms are fabulous, would def use this place again, the staff are friendly and the service was 100%

Whole experience fantastic,had our lovely wedding ceremony and reception here and was looked after very well by the lovely Mel and her staff,nothing was too much trouble and would happily recommend to anybody else

This time we stayed during the week and the staff and service was just as good as before although the hotel was much quieter. The food was superb and my husband had a steak cooked to his liking and I had hunters chicken which was delicious.

From the moment I checked in, Laura looked after me, made sure all my needs were met with a smile and a positive outlook. I have never experienced such an easy, informative, professional and lovely welcome to any other hotel. Another mention to Becky the duty manager who continued to maintain my positive experience with her friendly manner, nothing was too much trouble and all my needs were met. The food was delicious and the rooms were comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone!

The room was lovely, spacious, well decorated, the bed was comfy and there was tea & coffee facilities available, we didn't want to leave the shower as it was excellent. The wedding chapel was nice, when we retreated to the bar after the ceremony a couple of trays of sandwiches were distributed, they didn't last long, there should really have been more food available we thought (maybe that was the arrangement?). The reception later was a much better fair, the food was hot and there was plenty of choice. In the morning the breakfast was excellent, there was a lot of choice, the food was hot and the staff were very attentive and polite, a credit to Best Western. Many thanks to Chelsea the Assistant Manager in training who was a joy to speak to, my wife had left the new camera on the table at night but thankfully it had been handed in and we collected it in the morning. We look forward to returning to Hotel St Pierre.

I just wanted to thank all the staff at St Pierre for a fabulous wedding celebration for my daughter and son in law. Every single member of staff have gone out of their way to make it a very special occasion for us all. Particular mention must go to Melanie who has been outstanding. Her attention to detail, efficiency, advice and approachable manner have been so appreciated by both myself as Mother of the bride and the bride herself. Thank you Melanie. Hotel accommodation for ourselves and guests was good and where there were a couple of issues, these were dealt with effectively. Breakfast was excellent and a lot of of guests commented on how good the food was at the party. Hot and cold food both excellent and well presented. Reception and Bar staff were very friendly and helpful. DJ Ric is also worth a mention for playing just the kind of music we wanted and even kept the children dancing (well running around really to music and flashing lights!) !! So, once again, thanks to everyone

Lovely and clean. Nice smart bar reasonable prices rooms modern n brekky lovely. Had a very nice stay. Was a wedding so was very busy but staff were very helpful n check in and out was quick. A deposit of 50 pound is required but u get that back on checkout.

Made a reservation at the St Pierre on a special weekend deal, this was to include a standard double room, 2 course evening meal and full english breakfast. This hotel is part of the best Western hotel chain, its got a great location just a few yards from New Miller Dam on the outskirts of Wakefield and Quite easy to find from most routes including the M1 itself. We duly arrived just before 2pm, being the check in time, there was a wedding reception in full swing, so there was a happy atmosphere in the reception area. The receptionist didnt seem to be very much alert, as at 20 minutes past 2pms I reminded her about the check in time and sure enough the room was availble ...hhhmm?? Standard fair sized double room, very comfortable bed, well maintained and airy, with all the usual utilities including a very welcome heating system, flat screen TV, telephone, nice bath / shower room, open wardrobe desk and chair...the only negative was that the only view out of the window was a roof from another part of the building and was too high to see beyond it. The evening meal was ready from around 5.30pms, the dining room was welcoming, well laid out and no restricted seating. The the waitress staff were very friendly polite and helpful, the menu had great variety of choices and the Steaks with trimmings were excellent, this was a two course meal and once again there was a nice flexible attitude, as I asked for a fresh fruit salad which wasnt on the menu, but duly delivered with ice cream, so nice restaurant sorroundings, pleasant helpful waitress service and great meal for sure. Similarly, breakfast in the restaurant, starters like cereals toast, were self service, once again there was a real good choice, and especially with fresh fruit in juice like Grapefruit segments and yoghurts were ideal, the English breakfast was waitress service and offered a flexible choice of typical English breakfast fayre, so breakfast went down well too. Overall a very pleasant overnight deal / stay here, and hopefully it wont be the last time, so very recommendable, especially for those visitng the New Miller Dam area for a day out or weekend away.

what a fantastic hotel We visited as a potential venue for our wedding but didn't go with high expectations after viewing venues with extravagant decor and large gardens. However after 5minutes inside we felt like we were home and with family. everyone especially mel was so friendly and welcoming, down to earth and helpful we just knew this was the venue for us. from start to finish the staff bent over backwards to do their upmost to make our day the best they could. Hope to return for events in the future thankyou so much.. The new Mr and Mrs Barratt

We had a lovely Valentine meal last night at St Pierre... Food and service was excellent as always.... We regularly have sunday lunch here which is always lovely too....We would highly recommend St Pierre.....

We stayed for two nights on a group on deal. Nice clean room overlooking fields. Very nice food. Staff lovely, particularly restaurant staff made us feel very welcome. Located near a lovely walk through woodlands and newmillar dam. Couple of nice pubs close by with restaurants and entertainment- all two minute walking walking distance.

Next to a busy road with some noise, so ask for a room at the rear of the property. Plenty of parking right outside. Bar food available all afternoon but the same (limited) menu as the restaurant. Food was 'ok' but nothing special. Breakfast was good, made to order. Executive room but we couldn't see what made it such – maybe a bit bigger?

Just visited the hotel for our wedding and was perfect. All the staff were kind, polite and helpful, Melanie and her team look care of everything so we could just enjoy our day, the venue looked lovely and was just every thing we wanted cannot thank the team enough

Booked a groupon two night deal here including evening meal and glass of wine for two on first night...upon arrival I asked if I could have a meal on both nights as I was travelling alone to visit friends in the area. Yes I could was the answer........in fact everything I requested was done here...I had a superb meal in lovely surroundings, and could choose anything from the menu.... lovely, friendly staff....sadly I had to leave on the second day due to illness......imagine my total surprise when checking out when I was offered another free nights bed and breakfast when I come to Yorkshire in the future as I had already paid for the two nights...this is true customer service. I shall be returning as soon as I can...... this is a really lovely, mid priced hotel...if you see a groupon deal to this place, grab it with both hands...it's in a lovely area, beautiful countryside and the best service I have experienced in a long time. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by reception and promptly checked in to our room for the next couple of nights. The room was spacious and very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a little on the small side but was again, exceptionally clean. We went down to the bar and again were made to feel very welcome by the staff who couldn't do too much. The beer was well kept and reasonably priced as was the Merlot wine. There was quite an extensive food menu to choose from. I chose the Chefs Pie, chicken, ham hock and leek with chips, peas and gravy. My fiancee went for the beefburger with cheese, chips, coleslaw, salad and cheesey o's. Together with a side order of chips and battered onion rings. Both were delicious and great value for money. The following morning we went for breakfast and were impressed by the selection available on the buffet table, cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, yoghurts, danish pastries among the item's there. We both thoroughly enjoyed the full english breakfast, bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash brown, beans, mushrooms and an egg cooked however you liked it with tea and toast. Later in the day we returned to the bar for a few drinks and food. I went for the beer battered haddock and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. My fiancee went for the battered chicken breast burger with chips, salad, coleslaw, cheesey o's and a side order of battered onion rings. Once again, both were excellent and great value. In conclusion, we both had a great couple of days here and were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff who made us feel soo very welcome. We will most certainly be back in the future.

I visited the hotel for the very first time on NYE for the gala party. What a night. Fabulous food and reasonable drinks prices. The staff looked after us so well. The atmosphere was amazing. Fantastic 80s duo and a fantastic disco that played until the early hours. Great music with loads dancing the night away. This is a little gem of a place and well worth the money for such a great night. Mel and the team worked so hard they never stopped. 5 stars to the Hotel St Pierre ❤️❤️

Hotel is clean but very outdated, bathroom needed some serious maintenance as was cracked and not in good repair. Made to pay a security deposit on 3/1/19 of thirty pounds for a 1 night stay as of 14th Jan its still not credited. There are better places for the money.

2018 saw us visit this hotel three times - why? The food, the Christmas and New Year events and the fabulous staff. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff especially Melanie and Richard. Great compliments too to Becky, Sophie and Ben who were all very helpful during our stays. Christmas Day lunch was excellent - the food was great and we had a quiet and satisfying day. Boxing Day we had 30 people for lunch and the staff were terrific. Great service and the food again was excellent. This year we also opted to go with another group to the New Years Eve function - what a great event. Superb buffet lunch in the afternoon, champagne reception and excellent four course meal. This was followed by a great disco and duo act where we danced until 2. I hesitate to recommend as you'll all want to come next year! - We've booked already and are looking forward to catching up with the great staff and fabulous food in 2019. Fantastic events and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Happy New Year to all the staff and owners - Pranay and Pritti and thanks for letting us into your great hotel.

Just had our third visit with friends at this lovely small hotel in New Millerdam..again we had a great time .. lovely boxing Day lunch have to service was 1st class even though it was very busy...rooms a good size only small issue for us was the bed in need of replacing not the best we have slept in room 317 ..the staff are all cheerful and pleasant.. We will definitely be back!

Just been to this hotel for the weekend for our daughters wedding ,it was a lovely wedding and the hotel did us proud the wedding organiser I think her name is Melloni was very good indeed she did everything possible to make the wedding run a smoothly as possible , the food was very good indeed at the wedding itself and then we stayed for Sunday Lunch and the food was beautiful again and on both occasions Melloni oversaw everything ,all the staff from the cleaning staff to the waitresses were really good,we literally had no worries , Well done Hotels St.Pierre

I do stay at Best Westerns and this for all its good was poor for me on this stay. Great amount of noise in the social areas that i was not warned about. went on until 0030hrs. then the doors to the bedrooms. they slammed shut. annoying when the parties finally finished and you think you might be able to get to sleep at last. (oh no) Friendly enough staff just unable to help with a disappointed

Stayed here last night 17November. Rooms extremely clean and staff go out of their way to accommodate. Stayed in room 307 and it was very quiet and dark which is just what we wanted after a family party in Mapplewell. Have stayed in 2 or 3 hotels in Barnsley when visiting family, this one is by far the best in terms of value. We certainly would stay again. Thank you Best Western you ticked all the boxes!!!

Was at a business conference in the area, very smooth check in, extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble, room i will agree a little dated, however very clean, bed extremely comfortable, black out blinds which are brilliant, reasonable coffee and tea tray, excellent tv with good sound, bathroom had everything i needed including a heated towel rail. I ate in the bar and once again the service was above excellent, the meals are huge and very good quality, the bar prices are very reasonable, breakfast was freshly cooked, if i am honest the best value for money hotel i have stayed in. The staff, all of them that i came across were excellent. Will return,

For the price I paid last minute I suppose this hotel was ok. The rooms were what I would class as standard, probably a below par 3*. The hotel itself is very dated, dark and dated decor and a lot of old wooden furniture. The bar area is also very dated and dull. As best westerns go this was probally one of the lower end ones I have stayed in. I would recommend it for a single night stay and would not recommend it if you had to stay longer.

A pleasant stay was had in the hotel with staff friendly and rooms clean and comfortable. Nicely located in a village with 3 pubs to choose from for drinks and food if you decide not to eat in the hotel.

We had a lovely night's stay, the staff were so efficient and friendly, the room was perfect and the breakfast was excellent, would recommend to anyone. We hope to use again in the future, the value for money was excellent.

Can't recommend this place enough. Excellent value for money. Food is of a very high standard indeed. OK so the rooms and decor is a little outdated and a tad tired but it all works and the place is lovely and warm. The hotel has plenty of character unlike other 'premier'/'lodge' chains which are completely soulless. The staff are fabulous and can't do enough for you. Will be back!!

We recently got married here,we couldn't have have asked for a nicer hotel to exchange our vows. Melanie was brilliant from our first meeting to our wedding day. All our guests complimented us on how lovely the room was decorated to the wedding breakfast and our evening buffet,the food was fabulous,a big thank you to the chef and his staff,some of our guests had dietary requirements to the chef they were not a problem. We stayed over the night before our wedding and our wedding night where we stayed in the bridal suite which was beautiful,we had guests staying overnight they told us how lovely their rooms were. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and freshly cooked. We would like to thank Melanie and staff for making our wedding day so special. Love John and Deborah Holding

We stayed here for one night on a dinner, bed & breakfast rate. What a fantastic hotel with staff that are friendly, helpful and super efficient. The food was exceptional, fabulous dinner and breakfast. In fact some of the best hotel food we've had. Can definitely recommend and we look forward to staying there again soon.

Why do I keep returning??? Simple - I know my wishes previously negotiated with Melanie Hall will be carried out even before I get there. The staff helped me decorate the room prior to the Sunday Lunch with a Difference (Quiz about my husband's life, fun around each table with a 'pass the parcel' style quiz together with singer, Brin, who sang to us all afternoon. The Lunch was nice and hot, the staff aim to please - all under Mel's guidance and we are back with another party January already booked. Never fails to please - thank you again. Bridget

Had our wedding here on 29/9/18, was the most perfect day! Mel was amazing, decorated the reception room perfectly and just how I wanted, Richard was a great help looking after our dog! Had a group on night stay at this hotel, and really loved it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The breakfast was also delicious. Plenty of parking. Nice couple of pubs nearby.

We stayed here at the weekend and the hotel is tired in every aspect. This was probably reflected in the price we paid but even so there was noting to entice us to use the bar or restaurant. There was a wedding reception taking place but our stay wasn't affected by this. The hotel is nicely located to visit local attractions but don't think we'll return because of the tired state of the hotel.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and happy to help. The room we were given was on the 2nd floor via a lift. The room was clean and a nice big bed which was very comfortable. The dinner we had was delicious, I had a curry and my husband had a sirloin steak with a mushroom sauce which was the best he'd ever had! After a good night's sleep we had a breakfast which was a buffet style with everything from full English to cereals,yogurts, pastries etc. Tea,coffee and toast was served to the table. All the food was superb and I would be happy to recommend this hotel and to go out of my way to stay again. Wedding reception when we were there but it didn't disturb us in any way at all.

A lovely hotel, overlooking fields to the rear, well maintained and with friendly, helpful staff. Easy to find with a great pub and carvery (The Dam) 2 minutes down the road. We only used it as a 1 night stopover but it's ideal for National Trust properties.

26 of us in the Matisse suite were looked after royally by Melanie and her staff, Our three course meal was excellent and complimented by all who attended. Nothing was too much trouble and every help given in the organisation to ensure the event ran smoothly. 12 months previously I enjoyed an identical event for my own 80th party which had been organised so successfully by Melanie that prompted our return.

Well what can we say! We had our fairytale wedding here on 22nd September and it was magical. Mell our wedding co-ordinator was absolutely amazing! She alleviated so many worries we had. We planned our day in 10 weeks and if it wasn't for Mell it wouldn't have happened! She did fantastic along with her team! Food was fantastic and let's just say you can't please everyone! But hey ho! Our bridal suite was fantastic and very comfortable! We honestly can't thank the hotel enough for everything they did! We will definitely be heading back for another stay! Our daughter and son in law had their wedding reception at this hotel, and I feel that I must on behalf of my wife and I, give our opinion of the staff and the hotel. Mel the wedding coordinator was the best support we could ever have wished for, her advice, experience and opinion was very important to us when planning this wedding in such a short period of time. Every time we attended the hotel in the planning stages, we were offered complimentary drinks and we were very impressed with the options were were offered for the day. I do not think she could have been more helpful if she had wanted to be and I most definitely cannot thank her enough. Mel alleviated so many worries and stresses that my wife had shared with her and I cannot think of one single thing to criticise. Becky one of the senior staff was excellent and the rest of the staff were polite and helpful even with difficult and demanding guests who were not happy with the arrangements we had made for the very young children menus. However, we have had so many remarks from guests complimenting the hotel on the menu and on the way the day was organised. I guess you can never please everyone. My daughter and her new husband stayed overnight and were thoroughly delighted with their room and could not speak highly enough of the hotel. The day for us was magical my daughter and son in law were thrilled with everything and felt that Mel and her team provided them with the fairy tale wedding that they wanted and with only 10 weeks to plan this, it went without a hitch. We are terribly disappointed that some of our guests felt it necessary to complain without first speaking to us. Thankfully everyone else had a fantastic day and we felt that Mel and her team went the extra mile to ensure that it was in fact 'The Perfect Day'.

We were at our nephew wedding on Saturday and we were very disappointed with the service and the food. We checked in the night before and as we were checking in the F&B manager was ringing round to get staff for the wedding. Next was the room looking for a socket to charge our phone it was an extension cable under the desk. Please be aware that your credit card is swiped for £50.00 on top of the room. The breakfast was not that good very small buffet with not much choice. I've had better in budget hotels. The bar prices are higher than usual. The wedding breakfast was pretty crud the leak and potato soup was more like vegetable. The main course was atrocious dry and hard chicken over cooked vegetables. The children in the party were given no starter but a dish of veg and gravy no dessert when asked for ice cream we were told that was paid for. There is more but I don't have time to list.

We had a fantastic day. Perfect venue for our wedding and reception enabling us to go down to the dam for some photos. All our guests commented on how helpful all the staff were, how nice the food was and that our wedding was one of the nicest weddings they had attended. A massive thank you to Melanie, the Wedding Co-ordinator and her team for ensuring everything ran smoothly and catering for all our needs. A perfect day from start to finish.

A surprisingly good little hotel. After booking a nights stay my wife broke her ankle and is in plaster. The hotel switched us to their disabled room on the ground floor. Very helpful staff. Good quiet location. Would go back.

We stayed here in August and had a great time. Yes the decor is a little tired but everything else was excellent. Great staff, clean & comfortable rooms, tremendous value! Maybe not for you if you crave the elegance/clinical feel of a modern/boutique hotel, but for anyone wanting good quality at a great price then this should definitely be on your list. Very good country location with Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Mining Museum, Hepworth Gallery and various good value eateries within reasonable distances. The big plus for us was that we travelled as a couple with two children and the hotel apparently has three pairs of adjacent/adjoining rooms (i.e. a double next to a twin with internal connecting doors). This is something that we found difficult to find in other hotels but it gave us all the security, privacy and fun that we were after! Finally the breakfast was a good combination of cold buffet and hot food cooked to order, and they catered for a gluten free eater reasonably well. Very pleased!

Staff lovely, cleanliness good, however the hotel is stuck in a time warp. very dark. Our room small and miserable. Pillows are dreadful. could not open the window enough to cool the stuffy room. Quality of the decor was poor. I suggest the painter needed to go to Spec Savers

We had our wedding their on the 25th August day and night do. Mel the wedding co ordinater couldn't do enough for us to make our special day any better. Lovely surrounding for pictures. We had the honeymoon suite for two nights added BONUS. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a wedding venue with lovely staff.

This is typical of a best western. Lovely helpful people in slightly tired surrounding. The dinner in the restaurant was OK but the full english breakfast was worth praising. If I go up to the area again there is no reason why I would not stay here.

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly. We have wheelchair. Disabled park and ramp next to entrance, accessible room was good with great wet room and easy transfers from chair. A bit tight in the room but manageable with some rearrangement of furniture. Breakfast was good and cooked and served to order which is so much easier than balancing plates on knees. Great location near huge lake and woodland.

I stayed overnight after being at a party. The room was comfortable and the hotel had a laid back vibe (despite a large wedding party being downstairs). It's within a short walking distance of a couple of pubs and Newmillerdam itself. Worth a stay!

My wife and I have just returned from our eldest daughters's wedding and the reception thereafter at this venue. Family and friends travelled from far and wide.From arriving Friday afternoon to leaving Monday morning the wedding and weekend was a great success. To Mel the wedding co-ordinator and staff a sincere Thank You for making sure everything went smoothly. The food throughout the weekend was excellent. Breakfast plenty of choices and well cooked. For the wedding reception out of this world. Would certainly use the Hotel St Pierre again without any second thought. Stuart Smith

We stayed here Friday night. Receptionist was very friendly and efficient check in. The room was nice and beds comfortable. All was fine until 2.48 in the morning when we were rudely awoken by a very noisy bell from the fire alarm which sounded for a few seconds then went silent. Assuming a false alarm with such a short duration we put our heads down and tryed to get back to sleep. Then ring ring ring it went off again. Over the course of the next hour or so the alarm went off several times. We had an early start in the morning at 7am and went the rest of the night without getting any real sleep. The night porter who checked us out informed us the alarm was faulty and apologised for the disturbance. It turns out the fire alarm panel is about 30 years old and is in dire need of updating. I'm not sure of Best Westerns policy on a disturbed nights sleep. I have stayed at Premier Inn where the sort of thing would have been quickly resolved with a full refund. I will wait and see what Best Western have to say for themselves.

We stopped here for one night midweek, the room was large, clean and tidy, everything worked as it should, the staff were very friendly and offered help where they could, we asked them to book a taxi and it was no problem at all, The breakfast next morning was great, good quality and plenty of it, we didnt have an evening meal as we went to a local wedding. One small niggle was the banging doors, every time someone left a room the door would bag shut behind them, very annoying the first thing in the morning, i think its the fire door safety attachment on the door to make it close, most other hotels are the same, if i could invent something better that would shut the door quietly i would be a millionaire...lol Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return.

I have no hesitation in recommending Best Western Hotel St Pierre for excellent service with friendly and efficient staff, in an attractive location convenient for visits to Barnsley and Wakefield and surrounding South Yorkshire area.

Stayed for one night. Location very good. Rooms basic with tiny bathrooms. Extremely noisy, from people in corridor and from neighbouring rooms. Seems like there is a wedding on every weekend. So bar and restaurant taken over by them.

Went to a family gathering for Sunday Lunch. We were quite a large party so had to pay a deposit. It was very busy with another party of Sunday lunch diners but the staff were very organised and we didn't have long to wait for any of our courses. The food was lovely. The Yorkshire Puddings were a bit rubbery but to say how many people were dining at the same time it is only to be expected. The staff were efficient and friendly. The cost of the lunch was reasonable.

Just home from attending and staying the night at St Pierre due to a family wedding! Firstly, Id like to say how a couple of the staff were lovely, especially Caitlin and the new starter waitress. However, what really let this hotel down was the surprise £50 deposit. Considering how many of the wedding guests were staying the night, we'd have thought somebody would've mentioned that we'd all have to pay £50 EXTRA deposit on top of the over priced rooms. You get the deposit back (sometimes, but that's yet to come) but we weren't informed which left many of us stranded in the middle of know where with little cash for the expensive bar. Also, if you're visiting remember to pay it in cash as those who pay it via card don't receive the deposit back for 10 days. The lady on reception was quite unsympathetic and kept reiterating that we'd pay it if were in the Hilton - but that's certainly not where we were. The rooms are spacious, which is awesome. However, extremely dated and needs a whole revamp! Dingy and low lit, kinda reflected a Stephan king movie or an episode of twin peaks. Rooms were clean, just take your own shampoos etc as there isn't any complimentary in the bathroom. Walls are paper thin. We were woke up at 7:30 after much banging coming from all directions but it's expected in a place like this! Wasn't all bad, was a lovely ceremony and we did all have a dance around and the food was lovely! Be very careful when getting your deposit back as unfortunately, a good majority of us had been deducted for alcohol we never bought and which we could prove as they were unsigned for which is super sketchy. Would recommend if you're there for a night and need something quick, would not recommend for a relaxing stay with value! (Picture of corridor to show how dingy it looks)

After spending the day here at my sisters wedding we booked a family room months ago stating it would be for 2 adults,3 children and a baby,when arriving to our room we was placed on the 3rd floor and the lift only goes to 2nd floor so we had to carry the pushchair up 2 flights of stairs to then arrive to our room for there to only be 1 double and 2 single beds!! When I went to reception to complain we wasn't offered to be moved rooms and I asked were my other child is ment to sleep and they wanted me to pay a extra £20 for a camp bed which i refused!! And told them they knew how many people it was for when it was booked and nothing got said on the phone!! The receptionist who I found very rude saw her manager who provided the camp bed for free!! They also never tell you when you book your room there's another £50 deposit to be paid which if you pay on a card can take 10 days to be returned to your bank!! £120 we paid for this room and it was very dated and basic and not a lot a room,wouldn't recommend having a wedding here if family want to stop the staff never smilied other than 1 young barman and a couple of waitresses the rest seemed quite rude,also the kettles in the same part as were the children was sleeping not in with the double bed

We have just returned from this hotel,we only stayed the one night ,we had a back room which was quiet,the breakfast was self service so you could get what you wanted .i would recommend this hotel,and definately stay again.

We stayed two nights at this hotel in August 2018. Unfortunately the hotel looked like it had not been decorated in at least 10 years. Our room was dark and dingy, with curtains hanging off the curtain rail as there was only 6 curtain hooks holding them up! They required at least 20, to hang correctly..at the cost of pence and basic housekeeping. The dining room for breakfast was a dark room without any windows and felt gloomy and oppressive. Staff were friendly and the breakfast satisfactory. The service did lack some basic finesse and could so easily be improved. Toast arrived in a rack straight onto the table, when putting this on a plate would have been more hygienic and better presented. Value paper napkins could be replaced by cotton napkins, given the laundry facilities within the hotel. The whole dining room needed a coat of paint (currently brown), to lighten the room and make it feel bright and welcoming.

Extremely pleasant and cozy atmosphere.Friendly staff always ready to help.The cleanliness and the arrangement of the rooms is impeccable.The service is at a high level.I'm definitely going to visit this hotel again Thanks!

I held my wedding here on 11th August 2018 and the day was amazing!! From the planning right through to the day itself ran smoothly and Melanie couldn't do enough for us. I made several changes along the way all of which Mel accomadated, even making changes and adding things on the day!! Mel knows her stuff when it comes to weddings so if you are booking, definitely listen to her and take her advice! All my guests commented on how good the day was and how nice the food was. The bar staff were really friendly and attentive remembering what most people were drinking which saves time when ordering drinks, all drinks are reasonably priced in fact cheaper than you would expect to pay at a wedding. Our rooms were clean and breakfast was lovely. The DJ literally played anything requested which is always a bonus. We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay having stayed at other BW hotels and been disappointed. The booking in was easy and staff extremely efficient. The room was very clean and tidy as was the hotel overall. Our breakfast was better than some we have had at 5 star hotels and the staff were great. My requirement for gluten free food was no problem at all. Would recommend this hotel with no hesitation at all. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here as it was the closest hotel to a local venue. We were not expevting too much for £70 including breaffast, however we were pleasently surprised. There was a wedding at the hotel when we arrived and we had been given a room away from the wedding party to prevent any noise. Breakfast was of good quality. We will definately return if in the area.

We held our wedding here on the 21st July 2018 , from start to finish from the planning of our wedding to the actual day the staff couldn't do enough for us . The room looked beautiful and the afternoon tea we had was 1st class . For our evening reception again the room was flawless and the evening buffet was gorgeous.The main reason we booked for our wedding here was down to the actual staff every single one of them are lovely and a credit to the hotel and special mention to Melanie the wedding coordinator, this woman knows her job inside out and saved us alot of hassle and money too by making suggestions and guiding us in the right direction in the run up to our big day, she's a star.We booked the bridal suite which was beautiful, comfortable and as a Jacuzzi bath which was an added bonus. If you are considering booking here for your big day do it!! You won't regret it , we couldn't have wished for a better day .

Hotel easy to find, clean, tidy and smart Staff welcoming and polite Room clean, tidy and everything you need. Asked for softer pillows and got them within 10mins. Bed comfy, fresh towels everyday and bedlinen clean Breakfast plenty to choose from even a fussy eater like myself. Asked about lactose/gluten free items and was informed they can provide what I need or I can bring them myself and they will keep safe in kitchen. I will defiantly be using this hotel again. Had a standard double room.

Got this room cheaply, no complaints, it is well placed for Wakefield and rambling about the area, pleasant greeting and departure at the reception desk. Had a peaceful night in a large bed, what more could you desire ?

We go to the hotel on a weekly basis and have always found the hotel staff are always friendly and extremely hospitable nothing is too much trouble. The food is always consistent and the management is always on hand.

Stayed here whilst attending a local event.Room was clean and comfortable. However stay was totally ruined by a group of youngsters drinking, shouting and screaming well into the early hours. Banging doors etc. No member of staff appeared to try and stop them. The following morning we complained to a member of staff and were told cheerfully that ours was the 4th complaint she'd had and she'd only been on duty for 15 minutes! I find it amazing that hotel staff have so little regard for their guests that they would not have challenged the appalling behaviour of a few in order to ensure the comfort of the majority of their guests. Also I would have thought that they may have been concerned that those people who live in the houses opposite the hotel would also have been disturbed by the shouting and screaming in the car park. Needless to say we will not consider using this hotel again.

Me and my freinds were stopping at the hotel for one of my freinds birthdays, we got to the hotel and we were shocked cos we all had to pay a 50pound deposit fee she we had already paid for the rooms. We had a good night out of the hotel because there prices were really expensive. So when we woke up the next morning we were greeted by people shouting at is all saying that we were too loud in the hotel last night, but we weren't even there. They then tried to belittle us cos we were the youngest guest there and they were arguing with us for 2hours. We then left the hotel because they wanted us to pay 1050pound cos We were loud, which was pathetic cos it wasn't even us. Would not recommend staying here at all

Stayed with a friend on Sat 7th July,decent hotel bit dated but clean and everything you need for a night away.Breakfast really good and clean beds and towels and the staff were all really helpful ,don't like the £50 card swipe when you check in as it takes 10 days to refund your cash when the room had already been payed for stayed all over the world and a swipe was taken but never any cash to be refunded bit of a old fashioned practice but other than that a good stay.Now to the not so good part a group was staying in the hotel having a party and we were kept awake all night,apparently all the other hotels guest were too and it was a topic for discussion at breakfast,loud music banging doors and shouting and swearing went on until at least 3am it was reported lots of times to reception but still didn't stop.I would have liked to see a little more concern at the reception desk to sort the matter .Next morning when asked how our stay was we mentioned it and it was just glossed over and was told the said loud guests were still in bed but would be spoken to later,lucky them having a lie in when we'd all been awake half the night ,this said it wouldn't stop us from staying again but if we did and it happened again I would question what the hotels policy's were for dealing with disruptive guests .

Stayed here on sat night, had no sleep due to loud lager louts running up and down the corridors with the staff not doing a thing about it to stop them. If you want to spend the night in an infant school I would highly recommend but if you want a good night sleep dont bother. Oh and another thing take out a bank loan for the restaurant and they charge you the sneaky holding fee on top of the room when you check in, just incase you are a naughty guest, but obviously if you want to run up and down the corridors all night thats perfectly acceptable!!!! Stay away , best western? More like spaghetti western!

Stayed one night after a family event in the area, how rooms and prices vary.... our room was very spacious and comfortable with a sofa and 4 poster bed while my other family members rooms were pokey, dirty, and stuffy and far more expensive. The lift was broken so having to carry cases up the stairs was a nuisance We didn't have an evening meal here but did have breakfast which was very nice. I just don't understand how prices can vary so much room to room
