The BEST WESTERN Hotel Olimpia boasts a central position in the ever romantic mystic Venice alongside a typical living canal. It is close to the Basilica dei Frari (the School of San Rocco) and few minutes walk from the Grand Canal. The position of the BEST WESTERN Hotel Olimpia makes easy access via car / airplane/ train or even cruise ship, and is extremely close to the Piazzale Roma and to the train station, a position which allows the guest to easily reach Venice making any transport of luggage, trouble free. Car parking, if necessary, is pre-arranged by the management. We have recently completed a renovation making our services more inviting: reading room, bar, Internet access and a nice garden, a real bonus by Venetian standards. The breakfast room has wall to wall windows facing into one of the typical canal. The bedrooms are all decorated in a typical Venetian style dating back to the early 18th century complete with private bath/shower room, hairdryer, air conditioning, telephone, satellite television, radio and mini-bar. Where not included in the rate, breakfast can be purchased at the hotel, at 5 EUR per person, per day. City fee excluded, up to 3. 5 EUR per night, per adult over 10 years old and 10% VAT included.

    « Very Nice »

Well decorated and updated bath and bedroom.Great location away from tourist crowds and short walk from train station. Friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff. the breakfast, ordered in advance, at 5 euros apiece a bountiful buffet. Highly recommend this hotel.

« Great Location and Good Staff »

We stayed here during our trip to Venice. The hotel is just a 10 min Walk from SL station. Good option to dine around the hotel. The waterbus station is just 5 mins walk. Staff are friendly and helpful. Like any hotel in Venice the rooms are small but overall the interiors helps you in getting out of that cramped up feeling. Highly recommended if you want to avoid stairs while crossing canals. Overall value for money.

« Great Location for Pre or Post Cruise »

For a pre-cruise hotel, the Olimpia is ideal. It is not fancy but it has charm and is perfectly located! Our room was in the least expensive category, a classic double. It was small but we knew we would not spent much time in it. The room overlooked a lovely garden area. it was very quiet. I think the garden view would be better than facing the canal. For longer stays I would suggest a bigger room. The room had what we needed: comfortable bed, room safe, free Wi-Fi, heated towel rack and a good shower. It was decorated in a charming Italian style. The breakfast buffet was great. There was a good selection of eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit and cold foods, cereals, juices and even champagne. The breakfast is not included in the rate (at least mine) but could be added for an extra charge. It was well worth it. When you arrive, you get coupons for a free glass of prosecco. There are tables by the canal but it was cool out so we chose a window seat in the cozy bar. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We felt welcome. They provided a map and suggested walking or water taxi routes. There are scenic walks and lots of shopping, restaurants etc all close by. The location couldn't be better. It is right on the canal and a very easy walk from the direct airport ATVO bus or the train. As well, there is a water taxi stop at the front of the hotel. If you are going on a cruise (or coming from a cruise) the People Mover is located near where you get off the airport bus. Make sure you check the ?Venice for Visitors' website because it gives good info on the ATVO and People Mover. When I booked, I got the best room rate using the hotels own website. There are lots of instructions on how to buy the tickets for the ATVO bus from vending machines. We found it easy just to purchase the tickets from an agent right at the bus. The bus stop is right outside the main exit. The busses leave frequently and get you directly to the Piazzale Roma in about 15 minutes. From there it is a 5+ minute walk to the hotel. Be warned, there is only one canal bridge to cross but there are a lot of stairs on the bridge that you must drag your luggage over. Looking at the google map street view from home was a big help to get orientated when we got off the bus. When we checked out, the hotel called a private porter to take our luggage to the people mover. That cost 15 Euro for our two very large suitcases. I'm sure younger people, or those with less baggage could easily carry their own bags. We old wrinklies thought it was money well spent. If we visit Venice again the Olimpia will be our first choice.

« Great Value/location/breakfast included worth the stay »

My husband and I travelled along ways from Canada to Venice Italy. Like most visitors to Venice you don't know where to stay. The Best Western in Venice was worth the stay. It was the perfect location to the downtown area. Restaurants and shops near by. A breakfast included . Clean rooms, helpful friendly staff. What more could you ask for. They even gave maps and directions around the city. Defenitly worth the stay. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

    « Venice experience »

The hotel is located a short walk from the car parking and the train station. Some of the windows face the canal but we've got a nice room facing the backyard. Breakfast was very good and had very many items, including wine :) We liked the room decor. We would choose the same hotel if we are to return !

« Great hotel with a canal view and easy access to the cruise pier and airport! »

The reception and the bell staff were very helpful and welcoming. We booked a room at this hotel for its close proximity to the cruise ship pier so it was a five to ten minute walk to the people mover, going over one small bridge, which takes you to the pier. The Piazzale Roma, which is the bus depot to and from the Marco Polo Airport, is just a few steps from the people mover so the Best Western Hotel Olimpia is conveniently situated. Our room was nicely appointed and the breakfast buffet was a wonderful deal! We will definitely book this hotel again!.

    « Great Hotel! »

Great hotel - great staff - great location that is close to train station (8 minute walk) taxi stand and water bus (1 minute walk). Great breakfast with salmon and champagne. Great recommendation by staff to eat at Al Bacca Felice.

    « Nice hotel »

Hotel was very nice, close to Piazzale Roma and all transportation - water bus, taxi, and trains. Good restaurants nearby. Not close to St. Mark square, but certainly withing walking distance - 45 minutes to an hour - wandering through the narrow streets and over canals. Staff was very friendly, spoke excellent English and had good recommendations. Highly recommend.

« Decent price but a bit far away from the action »

First time to Venice and we arrived by train from Florence. We stayed for two nights in September Location We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the train station and the airport bus. Because Venice is connected by bridges crossing the channels, we had big bags and so had to lug them across a few to get to the hotel. It wasn't too far though (about 15 mins walk) and there are porter services along the way (not sure how legit they are but they are around if you need them). The airport bus is just outside the hotel so that's very convenient but it's a bit of a walk to San Marcos Square and some of the major attractions ( about 25-30 min walk one way) It's the same distance walk to the direct ferry/water bus that takes you out to Burano and Murano islands which are a must do when visiting Venice. Hotel Facilities The hotel is nicely presented and the porter assists you with your baggage up to the room. We had the cheapest room option and it was nice and spacious with a view overlooking the canal outside. The room was beautifully decorated and had cupboard space, a desk and a couch. Not much noise from the street and there were quite a lot of restaurants in walking distance from the hotel (a couple directly below too). Hotel offered free wifi but no breakfast ,however on arrival they offered breakfast for 5€ which sounded very reasonable. We didn't see what was on offer, but it still sounded reasonable. The bathroom was spacious with a big shower, however the sewer smell got a bit strong once you used the warm water, but I think this was generally a Venice thing due to the canals. It was quite an expensive hotel, but everywhere in Venice is very expensive. We didn't open the windows as I think the mosquitos could have also been a issue with the water so close. Friendly, helpful staff, this hotel was ok for the price. Just a bit far from the main attractions but it was enjoyable wandering the alleyways and stopping at shops along the way. Highly recommend doing your research for restaurants in Venice as you can get caught out paying a lot of money for very average food.

    « Post cruise stay »

Booked a post cruise stay here. Great location....take peoplemover to Pizzale Roma and just three bridges to hotel. Entire staff was great! Room was comfortable and very clean. Cab to airport is a two minute walk from hotel. Will stay here next visit to Venice!

« Lovely hotel close to public transportation »

We stayed at Hotel Olimpia for two days following a Mediterranean cruise, selecting it because it was a short trip on the people mover from the cruise port to Plaza Roma and then a short walk to the hotel from there. It also provided easy access to the city's bus station when we needed to catch a shuttle to the airport. The hotel is beautiful, with clean, comfortable rooms. Ours faced the canal and we heard very little noise at night. The hotel has its own breakfast room and offered a nice variety of choices. A nearby Vaporetto (water bus) station makes it easy to reach all the key sites in the city within 20 minutes and it is about a 30-minute walk to San Marco from the hotel.

    « Perfect hotel pre-cruise »

We stayed at the Hotel Olimpia for one night prior to leaving on a cruise. We booked a junior suite (room 205), and it was perfect. The hotel is situated within a very short walk of the buses. Literally over a small pedestrian bridge. If you don't have much luggage, you could easily take the bus from the airport. You can see the hotel across the canal from the bus and taxi square. The room was very comfortable with lots of room for our luggage, and a large bathroom. The room was very clean, and quite elegant. Certainly not at all like a Best Western in the United States. Our room also had a balcony with a couple of chairs, and overlooked the canal. Very picturesque. The breakfast buffet is an extra 5 euro, but well worth the price. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay there again.

    « Delightful stay »

Came here after our cruise and had a wonderful stay. Very close to piazzale roma so it helped not having to go too far with our luggages. The staff here are super nice and so helpful. We couldn't check in early but they held our luggage for us so we could roam around. Rooms are very nice. Beds super comfortable. Bathrooms are modern with rain showerheads. They have a breakfast for €5 pp and well worth the price as they offer so much! We definitely will be staying here again if we are in the area. Thanks for making our stay in Venice great!

    « Not what I thought »

There's nothing spectacular about this hotel except the location to catch an early morning shuttle bus to the airport. The Good: the triple rooms are spacious, clean and there's plenty of hot water. The courtyard is pretty. Breakfast was plentiful. The Bad: Our 'canal view' rooms looked onto the bus station. The key operates ALL the lights as one entity, so either ALL the lights in the room are on or they are off. If one person wants to stay up and read then all the lights in the room have to stay on. We put the 'do not disturb' sign up, they came and cleaned the room anyway. It was windy and the wooden shutters banged all night. Front desk was nice, but not all that helpful. They gave horrible recommendations for very touristy restaurants. Wifi was spotty. It's not budget friendly. Really this is just an average hotel. If I'd gone in knowing this, I wouldn't have been so disappointed. The other reviews were so good, I decided to trust them. You win some you loose some. Overall a very touristy 'Americanized' 3 star hotel.

« Nice Hotel and Great Location »

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in October 2016 and recommend it! We would stay here again in a heartbeat! We were coming into Venice on the train, so wanted a hotel walkable from the train station because we would hauling our luggage. We were not interested in hauling our luggage on the vaporetto or hiring an expensive water taxi. There were two bridges we had to cross but it was short walkable distance from the train station. The hotel's location near the P del Roma was a plus because the ATVO airport bus stop was nearby and we were able to walk to it with our luggage in 5-10 minutes. Having been to Venice before, We didn't see the need in staying near San Marco. Each morning With our 3 day Vaporetto pass, the waterbus station nearby made it convenient to get to the sites we wanted to see. We took the #1 waterbus the first day (and that stopped at every stop and took almost an hour down the grand canal.) But days 2-5 we took the #2 vaporetto that was an express to the San marco area. Also, the People mover to the cruise ships nearby makes this convenient for anyone on pre or post cruise stay. Even though we could see the buses at the P del Roma from our window, the room was quiet. We had a room overlooking the front canal. The room was average sized. The bathroom was modern and large. We paid the 5 euro p/p per day extra for breakfast. We felt this was a good value for the variety and quantity of breakfast food provided. The front desk staff and the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The map they gave us was detailed enough to get around, though i wish it had the names of the Vaporetto stops marked on it. The room had an electric kettle and the hotel provided instant coffee packets and cream packets, but we had to ask every evening to bring us the packets. They didn't automatically replenish them during the room cleaning. Note, they had real coffee drinks at breakfast. We just needed a jumpstart every morning with the kettle coffee. We found several good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel (walking away from the bus area), and there is a trattoria next to the hotel, but we didn't get a chance to try that one. There is a small garden area at the hotel, but the weather was too cold to enjoy it more. We recommend this hotel and would stay here again because of the location and convenience.

« A lovely boutique hotel well placed in Venice. »

We travelled to Venice as a group of six, three couples, and we booked this hotel by perusing the web. It was a great choice, well placed for arrivals by train or bus and well placed for a bus to the airport when we departed. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed; and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was also close to many restaurants and eating houses and well placed to explore Venice. We would return to this hotel.

    « Return visit »

We stayed at the Olimpia three years ago and we're very glad to return. Since we were last there it has been refurbished not that it seemed to need it before. This time we had a lovely room at the front of the hotel. Being cold we didn't have the windows open so weren't affected by any possible noise from the canal below or Pizzalle Roma across the way. It was lovely to look out and see the Venetians going about their life. The bathroom was beautifully decorated, very modern with some Venetian twists. It was my birthday while we were there, which the hotel had obviously noted from my passport. On the day of my birthday on arrival at breakfast the staff had very kindly decorated the table with a balloon, rose petals and chocolates. What a lovely surprise (thank you Hotel Olimpia!). The breakfast buffet was great value for five euros. There was a good choice including Prosecco and smoked salmon. Having noted a previous review noting the trust worthiness of the staff, my husband accidentally left his wedding ring in the bathroom one day and we were very happy on our return from a day out to find it still there! I just can't recommend this hotel enough for value, cleanliness, friendliness of staff and location. We will return again!

« Great location, Great Staff »

Hotel is conveniently located to bus for airport, and the local water transportation. The hotel staff gave us directions to a glass blowing factory on Murano so we could take the water transport to Murano, then walk to the glass blowing demonstration. All wonderful. We were only able to stay one night post cruise. There were 5 of us, and we had one triple and one double. Great rooms. I highly recommend.

« Great location and lovely old-fashioned hotel »

Stayed for two nights earlier this month with my husband and another couple. We chose this hotel because of the location, just across the canal bridge from Piazzale Roma which is the last point at which cars can go and within walking distance of the train station. Got a transfer from airport at a very reasonable 45 euro fare. Just a 30 minute walk to St. mark's square, through windy picturesque streets with lovely wee shops and views. You could take the vaporetto but would miss a lot. We got a water taxi back, well worth the 60 euro fare for the comfort and fun. We were all very pleasantly surprised when we arrived, very friendly welcome with information, help with cases and complimentary prosecco. The decor is very venetian but not overdone. Comfortable, ultra clean and spacious rooms, which were quiet and the kettles with tea and coffee were much appreciated by us Brits. 5 euros for breakfast was extremely good value and we particularly liked the mackerel and salmon. The wee bar was a nice place to sit for a nightcap. All staff could not have been more friendly, professional and helpful. We would definitely book again for a return visit.

    « Helpful and comfortable »

The hotel let us store a bag while we went on a week-long cruise. After our return, we spent a long day walking around Venice. A few glasses of Prosecco and a pizza were just what we needed and the Hotel Olympia met the need. The room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious.

« Best choice for Venice on a budget »

Initially we booked at a hotel just outside Venice next to Mestre station to save money. Big mistake!! We discovered this hotel right near the train station in Venice and the lowest cost room (Rosa room) was only $25 more per night then the hotel near Mestre but it was far, far better and had a fantastic location. We had a wonderful breakfast well worth the small added charge and enjoyed walking through Venice far more because we were now close to our hotel if we needed to stop in for whatever. With the hotel at Mestre Station we had to leave the hotel for the full day and had no convenient refuge if we needed it. We loved this choice and it was the best value for the location. Being close to the train station meant only a short distance to carry luggage. The hotel itself is beautiful as was our room.

    5
« Great location, Great breakfast »

Walking distance from the train station and the people mover. Short walk to the vapporetti boats. The hotel is on a canal but our room had a courtyard view which was nice and quiet. The hotel does have a bar and places to sit along the canal or you can sit in the courtyard. The room was good size and nicely appointed. There is an elevator and porter service and they will store your bags on check out day. We were there one night to catch a cruise the following day. The breakfast spread was terrific and certainly worth the extra 5 euros.

« Great location, great hotel »

Great location and great hotel at Hotel Olimpia in Venice. We arrived by plane and took the bus from the airport to the Piazzale Roma. Our hotel was a short walk from here - very convenient and easy. We traveled to Mark's Square, the Rialto Bridge, etc. by water bus which was also a short walk away (purchase the day pass because you will end up riding it a few times). The staff at the hotel were fantastic - they recommended restaurants and provided a map and directions as needed. There was also a delicious continental breakfast available for a small cost. We were going on a cruise and this was the perfect location, the People Mover (transportation to the cruise ports) was nearby - about a five minute walk away near the Piazzale Roma. Highly recommend Hotel Olimpia and would stay here again if I ever return to Venice (I hope I do).

« Great place to keep going back to »

Fantastic hotel been there 5 times now great breakfast and staff are very helpful. Location great for train bus and water bus. You can also walk into the centre there are many different ways. Great restaurants and bars near the hotel and they are not very expensive. If you need any help just ask Robert at the hotel he is very good.

    « ' Great Stay ' »

First time at Hotel Olympia but definitely not the last! Great location with good access to main bus/train station. Visited Venice on multiple occasions and this stay was slightly further away from the tourist mayhem , and thanks to the brilliant helpful staff we were recommended some very good bars and restaurants in a lovely square about a ten minute walk away. Our room was quite small but immaculate with plenty of storage, comfortable bed and amazingly quiet! Breakfast was excellent, great choice of everything to start the day. Will recommend with enthusiasm!!

« Great choice for a Venice stay close to transportation venues »

The best: Breakfast to die for. Definitely spring for the 5 Eu buffet! By far the most expansive and delicious breakfasts we enjoyed anywhere during our two-week trip. Will never forget that lemon cake! Next best: Hotel cleanliness and amenities. We were upgraded to the top-floor junior suite. Spotless, spacious and quiet. Nicely furnished. Having a drink in the evening at the hotel bar was a really nice touch, especially with Marco tending. Selena at the front desk was very helpful with restaurant and getting-around-town tips. The garden was beautiful; unfortunately, due to rain, we didn't get to enjoy a meal or drink amid the flowers. Honorable mention: Being less than 10 minutes' walk from the train station, water taxis, pretty much anything you'd need to get around the city. The only downside: Our luggage was a bit of a challenge. A two-week trip in variable fall weather meant we needed two good-sized bags. While most of the bridges near the train station have ramps making luggage handling easy, the two biggest ones don't have these ramps. Including the bridge to the BW Olimpia. Still, it was worth the minor hassle and we'd definitely stay there again.

« Excellent hotel and location »

Well situated to many sights and away from the crowded, touristy hotels and their crowds. Excellent hotel staff who had great recommendations for eating and sight-seeing paths. Full breakfast for 5 euros, a great value. If you have lots of big bags, you may need to hire a porter to get them over the canal bridges. WE arrived by train and there are hotels on same side as the train station along one of the main streets, -- upside are no bridges to cross with bags; downside is hordes of tourists once you step outside of hotel--not a big deal but one to note.

    « excellent hideaway »

This hotel is so handy when arriving to Venice by train or bus yet close to walk to all the many highlights Venice has to offer.its a bit of a maize for first time travelers so its handy to off load the luggage then explore.the staff and facilities are exemplary and standards throughout the hotel are of a very high standard rooms are a bit of the small side and the bathrooms but of a high standard.

    « One night pre-cruise stay »

Not much to look at on the outside but really nice inside. The staff were really helpful, multi lingual and very professional. Great central location, may access from Marco Polo airport and convenient to the cruise terminal. Only a short walk to the Grande Canal.

« Convenient for cruises, good experience »

My wife and I stayed in Venice for two days before a cruise, and after researching options on TripAdvisor and elsewhere, we chose the Hotel Best Western Olimpia. We had a good stay, and would stay there again if we return to Venice and wanted to be near the cruise terminal. The hotel is just off the Piazzale Roma, which is where taxis and buses to/from the mainland stop, and next to the cruise terminal and train station. It was very easy to walk to and from our hotel with our luggage; there was only one bridge to cross (with stairs up and down). We arrived at the hotel early, around 10:30am, but they let us check in immediately so we didn't have to store our luggage while waiting for a room. Luna, at the front desk, was very friendly and helpful. The hotel and common areas are small by US standards. The elevator was barely large enough for the two of us and our two suitcases. Our room (#111) was a pretty good size size for a European hotel, with a decent bedroom and a large hall/sitting area. The queen bed was actually two smaller mattresses made up together, but the bed was comfortable enough. The room was sparsely decorated, with only one painting on the wall of the sitting area. The canal-view windows opened, with wooden shutters outside and no screens, and they did a good job of blocking light and noise when everything was closed. The were separate climate controls in both the sitting area and bedroom, which worked reasonably well, but were hard to use because of the numerous tiny controls with tiny labels. The bathroom had a large shower stall (no tub) with good water pressure. There wasn't a lot of storage space in the bathroom or the bedroom, but it was enough for our short stay. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet for an additional 5 euros p/p per day, which is well worth it. There was a limited selection of hot and cold items but they were good, and you could eat outside in the garden, weather permitting; we ate in the garden the first morning, but it was too cool the second morning. The check out process on our last morning was quick and painless. We've never stayed in Venice before, so I don't know how the Olimpia compares with other hotels in the area, but we enjoyed our stay there and had no issues, and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

« Great location and friendly staff »

The title says it all. The breakfast for 5 euros is also decent. Other than this, I cannot highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were tiny with no room to unpack anything. The bathroom shower could not maintain the water temperature properly & kept changing from burning hot to cold. The provided hair dryer had very little power and was useless. My overall feeling about my experience was that I did not look forward to coming back to this room each evening. Also, all air conditioning is turned off on Oct 1 and there was a very hot spell while we were in Venice. We were able to open the windows, but it was stifling in there. To the credit of the staff, I will say that they offered to change our room, but since it was our last night, we declined.

« wonderful hotel in Ideal location »

Booked and prepaid online. Arrived by cruise ship and disembarked in Venice. FromCruise terminal wheeled bags one block to the"people mover " overhead train. Next stop get off and walk one block keeping to the right of the square.Cross over foot bridge and turn right t top of and against bottom of bridge and your hotel is right there on the canal! SO convenient! From out side it looks rather plain but is anything but on the inside. Beautifully decorated in marble etc and extremely clean! Wow! Staff were there for you and your needs. Room equally impressive and very quiet. Beautiful courtyard swell. Bkfast for 5 euros- hard to beat for the value in Venice. Of note is the location. We were advised by many to visit but not to stay in or near St. Marks Square. So glad we listened! This hotel is so convenient to cruise port, Airport bus, Water taxis and hop on hop off water buses. Cruised right to St Marks Square etc and then walked the town. Cruised back at night to our hotel. In town you have to wheel your bags for blocks and blocks which we witnessed repeatedly. NO thanks! This hotel is in an ideal location for all activities, all with in block or two to jump on and enjoy! highly recommend it!

    « Excellent Service »

Only came into this hotel for a drink because we were staying and the sister Hotel next door. The service from the bar man was excellent, I would definitely recommend staying here or for a drink! Right on the canal, very quiet and not too far from the grand canal!

    « I was skeptical »

Stayed at this hotel October 14th and 15th before our cruise and on October 23rd after our cruise. I had read all reviews before booking but was skeptical that the hotel was as good as the reviews. After being there my skepticism was unwarranted. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Our room was comfortable and immaculate. The staff was a pleasure. At reception each individual knew our name and room number and were very attentive. The were more than helpful in giving us directions to where we wanted to go. Breakfast was a real treat and great value. The location was very convenient. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel and to recommend it to others. Absolutely great value.

    « Great stay »

Stayed here for three nights post cruise and everything was great. Staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful. Room was very good size and large bathroom. Limited drawer space though. Breakfast was awesome with great selection of items that should please everyone. Great location for getting to airport on ATVO and for using public water bus(ACTV). Would definitely stay here again

    « I'd think twice... »

We booked this hotel for an over night stay in Venice based on good reviews. Also, we were getting off a cruise ship & then flying out of Marco Polo airport the following day. So as far as convenience, this was nice for our family of four. We took a taxi, 20E from cruise ship to the hotel, with short walking distance to hotel. Easy check in process. The staff was friendly. However, our room smelled as if something had died in the vent system. Also, they advertise A/C, then once we check in tell us that is not an option. We were forced to open our windows to let fresh air in. Luckily it was a cool night & us southerners didn't sweat ourselves to sleep. Upon checking out, they had added a breakfast fee which no one in our group had eaten the breakfast at the hotel. They corrected it with no problem but if your not checking this, it's yet another added fee. I'm giving terrible reviews based on the false advertisement with the A/C & most of all the terrible smell from the air duct in the bathroom. Other than that, like I said it was conveniently located for what we needed. We were able to take a short walk to the bus station the following day & catch a bus to Marco Polo for 8E per person, took about 30 min to get to the airport. The hotel was clean, like I said the staff was friendly, if it had not been for the malodorous smell, I'd be giving better reviews.

Close to the train station and bus terminal, and away from much of the hustle and bustle of Venice, we loved this hotel! Though a 20 minute "bus" (boat) ride to San Marco, we were very happy with the location, and enjoyed the time on the bus down the canal! Well appointed, with friendly and welcoming staff, the rooms are large (to European standards), well maintained. We did not eat breakfast, however, our travel companions enjoyed daily. As a side note, even with a map, we were a bit lost on arrival. Traveling Italy for 2.5 weeks, we had a bit of luggage between the 4 of us. Hire a porter at the train station, he will bundle your luggage, and take you to the hotel door! Well worth the $30, vs, roaming lost over bridges and crowds!

    « Just right »

Very near to the bus station (about 100yards) which helps when arriving from a long trip. Not that we were aware of the buses at all. We stayed for three days so saw several changes of staff and all were good people. Helpful especially as we had to ask the usual questions that guests must do many times a day, every day. Breakfast was € 5 which given this is Venice was fantastic. So we ate well then and it set us up for the day. The room was fine; modern and comfortable. The location was very a great place to start from. The city proper begins immediately, There is a canal outside the front door; you are just into the atmosphere immediately.

« Good location, friendly service »

In order to avoid carrying your bags for long distances through the narrow streets of Venice, going up and down stairs over the many bridges, a location close to the bus station (where the airport shuttle arrives) and train station cannot be beaten. So much easier to enjoy the beautiful walk to the centre without your bags! The hotel is located in a 'real' neighbourhood - yes there are many tourists all over Venice, but in this area there are many shops and cafes etc that cater for locals not tourist exclusively - the streets and canals, and restaurants and cafes are quieter than those around St Marks' Square. The hotel has a lovely garden, and tables along a canal bank where you can enjoy drinks of coffee. The breakfast choice was excellent! The staff at the hotel were very welcoming, and I felt that the hotel made a big effort to ensure guests enjoyed their stay.

    « Fabulous Courtyard »

The rooms were large, clean and very comfortable. The staff could not have been any nicer. They spoke great English and were always willing to answer questions. The breakfast was crowded but top notch. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't such a nightmare to get to with heavy bags. They warn you just before you arrive that you will have to cross a bridge - make that at least 2 and probably 3. When they say cross a bridge though they mean haul your luggage up and down stairs!

« Beautiful Hotel, Great Location & Friendly Staff »

For our first visit to Venice, staying at Hotel Olimpia was a great choice. The hotel was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. For a three star, it felt very luxurious. We had a room for three which was as sumptuous as the public areas of the hotel. The room was also spacious with a great view of the canal. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the location as it was easy to find as it is very close to the main bus station Pizzale Roma. We had a snack in the bar which was pleasant especially the ice-cream. The buffet breakfast was very enjoyable, all served and displayed in a very stylish way. Watch out for room tax which is in addition to quoted prices. The simple dinner we had was also highly priced. At the time of booking this hotel GBP was stronger against the Euro and at arrival much weaker making this a very expensive stay. Having said that, I have always wanted to visit this unique city so I am pleased we stayed at this hotel as it offered us a beautiful and convenient introduction to Venice.

« Great location, comfort and service. »

This was my second stay at the BW Hotel Olimpia. Arrived around 10 am and was happy that my room was available at the time. My daughter was to arrive the next day. Room was set up with twin beds and we had a lovely bathroom with tub and a view overlooking the garden. Received excellent information (directions, water bus info, etc) from the front desk staff several times during our 2 night stay. The breakfast buffet is bountiful. The fact that this hotel is only one bridge away from Piazza de Roma makes it ideal for the traveler. The fact that it offers comfort and great service just adds to the positives. Would readily stay here again and recommend it to others.

    « cruise convenience »

get place to stay pre/post cruise- easy access to people mover to get you to cruise port with access to taxi service both by water and car, we had the car service drop us off and it was an easy track to hotel and easy access to water taxi (which is not cheap). safe and convenient for elderly/walking difficulties but does require one set of bridges to access from taxi drop off

    « Loved it.. »

What a wonderful place.. as this was our first trip to Europe and I am a huge researcher and planned our entire trip..I wanted to find hotels that were reasonably modern and close to everything and provided breakfast and where possible, a view. Venice was the one place I wasn't too sure about the 'modern' aspect ... but WOW our room was gorgeous and my partner, who I was really worried about not liking it... (he's not into old fashioned styles) loved it too... it was modern yet had that Elizabethan style.. we were on the 4th floor so we had a beautiful view overlooking all the houses etc, the breakfast was delicious and they even provided champagne.. we flew into Trevisio airport and decided to catch a taxi into Venice, I had already emailed the hotel about getting there and they did suggest a shuttle bus for 10€ or the taxi for 90€ .. we were tired and it was about 8pm and Trevisio is about an hour from Venice so we caught a cab.. all the cabs and buses and trains stop at the same place in Venice and our hotel was right there... absolutely perfect location.. we stayed in Venice for 2 nights and we boarding a cruise, which the hotel was in a perfect location for because we hoped on the 'people mover' for 1.80€ which took us directly to the port not even 5 minutes away... fantastic stay and would definitely stay here again.. highly recommend

« Nice spot, bad experience »

This hotel is really conveniently located (extremely close to Piazzale Roma) the room (#208) was great (right on a canal), and the staff was friendly and helpful. It also has an amazing back garden, which is an oasis of tranquility and is very lovely. Everything you could ask for, right? Being I travel a lot for business, I have a habit of testing the honesty of the maids. I once, many years ago, felt my bag might have been tampered with. So since then, I set a trap. I place my bag a certain way, and when I come back to the room, I can tell immediately tell if the bag has been moved. I place the bag away from where it might be accidentally bumped by say, a vacuum cleaner or whatever, so as to not have a false result. I sometimes even also lock the bag, even though I have nothing of value in it. Anyway, I came back to the room, and not only had my locked bag been moved, the zipper was broken. I guess the temptation of the locked bag was too much for the dishonest jerk. I brought the bag immediately to the front desk, showed them the broken zipper tab, and misaligned teeth of the zipper, and told them the bag had been opened and that I was disappointed. I also mentioned that this event had tainted my stay with them and my whole visit to Venice. They were not happy to hear my bag had been tampered with, and apologized and said they'd look into it. But I never received any other feedback for the rest of my stay (3 nights, Oct. 12-15th). Luckily, not being a travel newbie, all our valuables were in the safe, so the maid (I assume it was the maid, but it could have been a bell-hop or someone else, of course) must have been quite frustrated to find a magazine and cell phone charger and other miscellaneous $0 value stuff in the bag. From that point on we were extra vigilant about not leaving anything in the room of any value, just in case. The safe was stuffed to the gills, let me tell you. Earlier today I received the survey I was waiting for: "How was your stay?". I filled it out and detailed my disappointment over this incident. To their credit, the Olimpia replied immediately saying they were investigating, that they would be able to trace who had entered the room as the keys, which were a magnet type device I have never seen before, are individually identifiable and access is recorded. They also said they would let me know the result (I hope it is an immediate firing!). But it would have been nice the next time i passed the front desk that someone provide me this information in person, and perhaps have said, "here's a free drink on us", or made some other gesture. But alas, it did not happen, so what could have been an excellent rating is unfortunately an average. I did leave a note in the room when we left, written in Italian, saying I knew they had touched my bag, that I had reported it, and that I hoped they lost their job. I would still recommend the hotel, despite this one bad apple. We stayed in and visited several cities in Italy on this trip, and we encountered more scummy operators in Venice than anywhere else. I guess it is one of the more touristy places, so beware of hucksters and thieves. They seem to be legion in Venetzia.

« Wonderful Hotel for cruise passengers »

We arrived late morning and hauled our very heavy bags over the bridge which wasn't really that bad as the steps are pretty shallow. We received a warm welcome and the staff offered to hold our bags as we explored. When we returned, they were already put in our suite that we were upgraded to. A canal view from the front balcony and garden view from the back, just beautiful. The room looked like it had been completely redone yet keeping the old charm. The little café outside on the canal was a great place to have a snack (the mushroom pizza was excellent) and a drink and watch the boats on the canal and the beautiful scenery. We took a long nap and when we woke up, we decided to find a late dinner and there were many great places right there. We had a fabulous dinner and some incredible gelato then back to the hotel for a restful night's sleep. The breakfast was varied and plentiful and we ate outside in the beautiful garden. The staff arranged transportation to the ship for us that included someone hauling our bags back over the bridge. We would love to stay there again. Thanks for the warm welcome, the staff was so nice and there's free Internet!

« Close to Piazzale Roma »

After much research to find a hotel in Venice which was close to transport and the cruise terminal , we decided this was our best option. We were not disappointed. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and our rooms were clean with comfortable beds. We stayed 1 night pre and post cruise and we found the hotel is in fact ideally located for easy access to transport and the cruise port. Only 1 bridge to cross from Piazzale Roma, a real bonus with luggage. We easily strolled to the Rialto area and took the Vaporetta to St. Marks Square. Nice gardens with sun loungers and tables for dining outside, small but well stocked bar. A great hotel in a beautiful city.

« Well located for cruises »

We stayed at the Olimpia for the night before a cruise - it's very well located for the people mover to the cruise terminal. Breakfast is outstanding and there's a lovely little garden at the back of the hotel (although I recommend a good spray of DEET if sitting outside!). Decent room (with tea and coffee making facilities) and a free glass of prosecco in the evening.

    « Fantastic »

Very near to where the bus drops you off from the airport so you don't have to drag your cases between people and over bridges. Room was a little small but had everything we needed. Breakfast was buffet style but best of all the hotel had a garden at the rear with somewhere to relax and sunbathe. All in all could not fault it and we hope to return soon.

    « Outstanding service »

Excellent choice for a pre or post cruise stay. Our room was ready in the morning, allowing us to rest after an overnight flight. The room was well appointed and quiet, with a canal side view. The staff staff were very friendly and helpful, especially so in forwarding items we had left left behind. The water buses are within easy walking distance, as is the people mover to the cruise terminal. Good canal side restaurants and gelato stands are nearby.

    « Exceeding Expectations »

Having stayed at many Best Westerns in North America I've learned to expect an average budget conscious hotel. Such was not the case on our visit to Venice, Italy. The Olimpia was a small boutique hotel on a canal which was located right in Piazzale Roma and minutes from the Cruise ship terminal. The rooms were stunningly decorated in period furnishings of old Venice yet with modern day amenities. The washroom was impeccably clean as well as the room. At the back of the hotel was a lawn with gardens which was a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. At the front of the hotel were tables along the canal where you could have a glass of wine al fresco. The breakfast buffet offered was nothing like I've seen in other Best Westerns. It was excellent with its many choices. All in all this was a great hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone especially if you need to be close to the cruise port.

    « Very Good »

We stayed here for three days in late September. It is ideally placed near to the transport hub at the place de Roma. The hotel offers bed and breakfast and has a bar. The staff spoke excellent English and were friendly and efficient. The rooms were well kitted out and very clean. The breakfast gave you plenty of choice. The hotel also offers a free taxi ride to the Murano glass making factory on Murano island. You could walk to a lot of the sights from this hotel. We used a 24 hour Vapparetto (water bus) to get to the farther areas such as St Marks square. The price was very competitive for Venice which is generally a bit pricey. I would recommend that people use this hotel.

Located in Piazza de Roma, best location if you are cruising. Hotel is so 'Italian'. Very clean and very quiet location. Has a small courtyard that you can enjoy. Staff is so very friendly and helpful.

« Good and peaceful stay in Venezia »

The hotel location is good, just about 400-500 mts from the train station. We managed to reach there lugging our luggage. Hauling it over the bridges was a pain, but that's Venice for you. It is located on a quiet street and arm of the canal so no traffic. Small garden in the back which was pretty. Service was good. We were offered breakfast for 5 Euros per day per person and the spread is great. The person managing the break fast is a especially cheerful lady. Upon checking in the lady at the reception gave us a good idea about how we could walk to the other end of the Grand canal and cover the San Marco Piazza, the Rialto bridge, the Ducal Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. While on the way back we could take the vaparetto to a stop near the hotel. We managed to lose ourselves in the lanes of Venice. Beautiful place, delightful small eateries. Google was on hand to guide us back to the hotel.

« Excellent hotel, close to the port! »

The staff was friendly and was very informative, after checking in they gave me a map of Venice and circled the location of the closest water bus that could take us to/from St. Marks Square. Since our room wasn't ready yet (we arrived early in the morning) they were able to keep + store our luggage while we could explore Venice. The room was nice and clean, bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean and modern looking. The AC was quiet and didn't bother us during the night. The view from our room was fantastic, it gave us a nice view of the front of the hotel. The room contained amenities such as a safe, mini-fridge and coffee maker. The location of this hotel is perfect for anyone staying before or after a cruise from Venice. There were minimal bridges (2 small ones) and steps in order to get to/from the hotel from Piazzale Roma. It's a 5 min walk to/from the People Mover + Piazzale Roma. The WIFI was very fast and coverage seemed good anywhere in the hotel...perfect for playing Pokemon Go (2-3 Pokestops here). Breakfast was very good, selection was very impressive and the cost was very minimal (5 euros).

    « Wonderful hotel »

We arrived after an overnight flight and we saw the hotel right away when we got off the ATVO bus from Marco Polo airport. We walked over one small bridge and arrived at the hotel. Check in was easy and our room wasn't quite ready as it was only 11 a.m. so they took our luggage and we went out to explore. Our room was ready when we returned in an hour. We were on the 3rd floor room 305 on the front of the hotel overlooking a small canal. The room was nicely decorated even though it was on the small size. The bathroom was nice and modern. The breakfast buffet for 5 euros was delicious. Check out was speedy and we were on our way to the cruise terminal. I would recommend this hotel for anyone taking a cruise.

    « Great stay »

After spending hours reading at hotel reviews, we were so pleased we found this hotel. The hotel was beautiful. The location was perfect (no trundling cases over countless bridges like so many bedraggled visitors we saw). The staff were brilliant and very helpful. The buffet breakfast - including bacon and eggs! - was a great way to start the day. Our many thanks to all the staff at Olimpia for helping make a great holiday great!

    « Second stay......still highly recommend! »

We visited this property five years ago and were so impressed that we booked again without looking at other options for this trip. Perfect location, next to Pl Roma, easy access, beautiful rooms and grounds, very good staff and an excellent breakfast...everything we wanted. We arrived very early from our cruise ship, and understandably the room wasn't reAdy, no worries, as they stored our bags and when we returned late that afternoon, we just got our key and the bags were in our room waiting. Our bathroom seemed newly renovated and was very nice, the bed super comfortable and the view into the garden was beautiful. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. If we ever return to Venice again, this will be our hotel of choice.

« Realistically priced hotel in convenient location »

Chose the Olimpia specifically for location next to Piazzale Roma and the People Mover to the Cruise Ship Terminal. It was so close you could see the People Mover station from our room window across a small canal. Room was smallish but you cannot expect much more for a bargain price in Venice. Only complaint was the shower which was impossible to keep inside the enclosure and ended up drenching the whole bathroom floor.Breakfast adequate. Rare to get a small garden with a Venice hotel.

What a great experience. The hotel staff and reception was amazing and always ready to assist and even helped with doing reservations on our behalf for day trips. The buffet breakfast is one of the best I had at 3 star hotels and really worth it and a big varity. The rooms are reasonable in size, beautifully decorated and well cleaned. The best part of the hotel is the location. Very near the bus and taxi terminal and train station. Lots of restaurants nearby and gondeliers about 80 meters from hotel. I will definetly return to this hotel when I am back in Venice. Highly recommended.

    « Best of everything!!! »

From the check-in experience to the check-out, everything was great. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We arrived late and the desk clerk was very helpful getting our luggage to our room. Very nice pleasant room and comfortable bed. Clean bathroom and nice shower. Chose to eat breakfast at the hotel. Nice small buffet for 5 euros. Better bargain than any in the US and the food was really good! Beautiful grounds, close to the bus station, cruise port and vaporetto. A perfect hotel to stay in Venice!! Highly recommend!!

« Charming Hotel with Good Transit Connection »

My wife and I stayed here for a night before our cruise of the Mediterranean. First of all, the hotel's location is very convenient for our connection to the cruise terminal. A direct bus from the airport took us to Plaza Roma for Euros 8 each. The hotel is right across from the Plaza. You do have to negotiate two bridges with steps. It is a bit of a struggle if you have large luggage. Going to the cruise terminal is also easy. There is a People Mover train that takes you to the cruise terminal from Plaza Roma for 1.5 Euros each person. The hotel itself is a charming old building. We stayed in the old wing. There is no elevator in that wing. You'll need the bell boy to lug the luggage up to the floor for you. The hotel staff is very pleasant though. We have the superior room which is an average sized hotel room in Europe. Furnishing is part old world and part modern. Overall it is a comfortable room, though not luxurious. There is no dinner service in the hotel but there are plenty of cheap to expensive restaurants around

    5
    « Peaceful »

The hotel is so peaceful, great to walk around and I loved being in the "Bungalow". It was a garden room maybe, but it was amazing. The staff was great and very helpful. The hotel is right on the water and has it's own water taxi stop right across the street. However, to get to the Vaporetto (Water bus) is a nice walk away.

« Ideal hotel and location for post cruise stay ! »

We could not fault this hotel and all the staff were extremely friendly. It has a lovely traditional charm about it. We had a very nice room overlooking the garden and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever had. There is a very nice small garden with a few tables and chairs outside and also 4 sunbeds. The hotel is not in the centre of Venice but it is in a very nice area with plenty of cafes and restaurants and it is in a VERY convenient location for the bus station if you want the shuttle bus to the airport (only about 5 to 10 minutes walk). The bus is only 8 euros per person. Arriving off our cruise we took the People Mover train which was about 10 minutes walk from our ship and the train takes just a few minutes to the Piazzale Roma where the bus station is and costs 1.5 euros per person. A tip to reduce the number of steps over canal bridges with your luggage to get to the hotel is to walk right to the far end of the square to where the airport buses leave and there is a pavement without any steps down to the canal.Turn right and walk along to the top of the first bridge then down the steps on the right and the hotel is just a couple of minutes along that canal. Will definitely stay here again the next time we are back in Venice !

This is the 11th time we have stayed at this hotel. It is well situated close to the bus and train stations. Rooms are lovely and you could not want for anything more at breakfast. Staff are very helpful and friendly. We have stayed in many hotels in Venice over the years and whilst a lot of them have been great we find this hotel is perfect for location, comfort, facilities offered and of course, wonderful staff. We will be back!!!

    « First-class hotel, wonderful location! »

I, along with 13 of my friends, recently stayed at Hotel Olimpia. The hotel itself is very clean, with nice size rooms, all decorated beautifully with a Venetian flair! Everyone on the staff was extremely courteous and helpful, especially Marta, Gloria, Robert and Thomas at the concierge desk. I was very impressed that each time I walked up to ask a question, each of them stood to answer me and were just as helpful and cheerful as they could be. It was refreshing and very much appreciated! The breakfast was excellent, and there were enough choices to satisfy everyone. The choice to sit in the beautiful breakfast room or out in the garden was a nice decision to have to make each morning. The location of the hotel is in a quiet part of Venice and only a very short walk from the train, vaparetto and the parking lot for cars, vans and buses. It was perfect! If and when I return to Venice, this will be my choice for a hotel.

    « Convenient, relaxing location »

The location of this hotel is super convenient to/from airport and especially to/from cruise port. Located near bus/train terminal and people mover - only have to cross one bridge. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Room was large and clean. Bed was fairly comfortable. Very quiet. Nice tables in front along canal with bar service are an excellent place to relax in the late afternoon. Could not have been more ideal location coming from cruise then departing with very early morning flight. Plenty of nearby restaurants. Easy access to vaporetto to get to St Mark's.

As ever with Best Western we were not disappointed. Location is the key and for anybody coming in to Venice by land transport , look no further. We stayed at Hotel Olimpia prior to embarking on a cruise of the Adriatic. The location was perfect for transportation from the airport and to the cruise ship terminal. Decided to stay here because of the good reviews on tripavisor. Stayed 1 night before a cruise and we really enjoyed everything about this hotel. « Unreservedly recommend this friendly family hotel. »

Hotel Olimpia must be the most conveniently located hotel in Venice for anyone traveling in by bus or land taxi from the airport. We saw it plainly as we got out of our taxi, and a walk of less than 100 yards over a small bridge took us to it. It is also very near the vaporetto terminal and the people mover rail transport to the cruise ships. We had booked a superior double in the main building. The room was of good size, including a good sized shower room, was very well furnished and provided a very comfortable bed. It was immaculately clean. We had breakfast in a very pretty , private and quiet garden, while the dining room was also very attractive. Breakfasts catered to every taste and were very good. This is a family hotel and what made our stay so enjoyable, more even than the quality of the accommodation, was the helpfulness and friendliness of staff, both family members and other staff who quite clearly were happy to work there. Marta, a member of the family, advised us on restaurants and made bookings for us at our chosen restaurants before we travelled to Venice. All staff were interested in how we enjoyed them. Staying there for 3 nights before going on a cruise from Venice, they very helpfully looked after our luggage on the morning of our departure until we were ready to set off to the ship in mid afternoon. Venice, we thought, was a magical place and it is no exaggeration to say that our stay at the Hotel Olimpia was an integral part of our great experience of the city.

    « Lovely restful place »

Stayed here for a few days post cruise. In easy walking distance from the transport hub of Venice. Yes there is some walking up and down steps over bridges to get there but take a look at Venice and this is what it is with bridges over canals. Reception staff friendly and helpful, hotel easy to find and in an out of town area of Venice but well within walking distance of the main sight seeing areas. Many eating places around the hotel and a small supermarket in walking distance.Room clean and comfortable, room quiet, air-conditioning the best we experienced in Europe. Beds comfy but one of the nicest things was the breakfast area/courtyard/green space area at the back of the hotel. So lovely to have breakfast here or relax there any time of the day. Breakfast 5 Euros and well worth it. Area in front of the hotel faces a canal and you can sit here and have a drink. All in all a very good experience, upon checkout a short walk to the transport hub to meet transfer to airport. Would love to stay again.

    « Terrific! Terrific! Terrific!! »

Close to busses, water taxi, public water bus, train! Welcomed by wonderfully friendly staff who speak excellent English (and rather skillful Italian). This venue is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The room was spacious and well appointed. Comfortable bed. The five euro extravagant buffet is a spectacular bargain. The garden provides an elegant setting to enjoy the melon and scrambled eggs and croissants and prosecco

« Great hotel for cruise terminal Look out for Room 307 »

This is a very good choice for anyone wanting a pre or post cruise hotel..Situated very close to the Piazalle Roma transport hub, it is well placed for the water buses, people mover and airport bus. The hotel offered a nice cruiser arrangement which included breakfast and a welcome drink which may be enjoyed in the bar, garden or terrace. Breakfast and service was very good. We would recommend with proviso to check accessibility of room -- ours was a 4 bed on the 4th floor up in the attics. The bedroom(s) were a very reasonable size, bathroom (shower) adequate but lift only reached 1st floor! Not so desirable if have a lot of luggage or mobility impaired

    « More than perfect! »

Me had an awesome experience. We loved out room -we had a nice view to the canal- and it really looked like a dolls room! Perfect for staying here! It's close to the bus and train station , but also close -30 minutes- to San Marcos ! It's great if you don't want to walk all around with your suitcases or pay an extra water taxi in Venice. Breakfast is not included in the price but is totally worth it, when you arrive, ask the guy to include it! Take your time to enjoy the little garden, it's soooo relaxing while you enjoy the welcome cocktail!

« Great stay at this clean, well-located Venice hotel »

The Hotel Olimpia is a charming hotel on a small canal just steps away from the central bus stop. As our visit in Venice was fairly brief, the proximity to the bus depot, water taxi, and train station was crucial to maximize our transport options and to minimize back-and-forth trips. That said, at no time did the hotel's proximity to these transport options somehow mar or interrupt our stay. The hotel is close to transport choices but the feel is that of most of Venice -- a special island that feels a world away. Our spotlessly clean room was decorated in an old world style (which seems to be the norm in Venice) but all furniture was new and in excellent condition. Our room comfortably slept four (two adult and two kids) and was fitted with a sleek, spotlessly clean modern bathroom. The highlight of our stay may have been the absolutely lovely outdoor breakfast we enjoyed in the peaceful, picturesque garden out back. The bountiful spread of tasty food would please almost all palates and featured a great variety of delicious Italian pastries. How wonderful it was to begin the day awakening in a quintessential small European hotel offering a delicious breakfast outdoors in a peaceful garden while hearing the church bell toll the hour at 9 am. Bellissimo! For those not familiar, the Best Western (BW) name in the U.S. is usually synonymous with a cookie-cutter, low-to-mid grade motel experience. But in Europe, BW is simply a marketing vehicle for independently owned boutique-style hotels, each with their own unique charm and usually offering a pretty high quality product (strong 3 star to 4 star level quality). I usually steer clear of BW in the U.S., but have no qualms about checking out their offerings in Europe ? they often provide excellent quality, special charm, and good value. So don't let the BW name scare you off. The Hotel Olimpia was a great choice for us and I would definitely recommend it to others.

« Venice hotel. Best western Olympia »

I'm so glad we pick best western hotel Olympia. The location is great to get in and out of the city. You only have to cross one bridge though we made a mistake took extra bridge. It's not so much fun dragged your luggage up the bridge and down. The hotel staff is wonderful so helpful Marta and Nicolas ( I think ) were great help. Our room is very nice ,facing the canal Unfortunately our room must be in the old section because to get to our floor 2nd floor, we had to take elevator up to first floor and walk around the hall way and walk up 19 steps to our room. So when you book maybe you can request room that you can take an elevator all the way up. Our friends who stayed on 2nd floor and 3rd floor can take the elevator all the way up. Again it's beautiful room and generous breakfast for €5. We will stay here again if we come back.

    « Excellent 2nd stay »

Another good stay at this hotel. So convenient for Piazzle Roma. I pre booked the fast bus from Marco Polo Airport which terminates minutes from this hotel. Welcomed back by the hotel receptionist as we had stayed there 5 years previously. We had booked a classic room which was comfortable and clean. The bed especially comfortable and very quiet. The breakfast can be taken in the hotel garden or in the breakfast room. Good selection too. The staff are so caring and friendly. It really feels as though they are part of a happy team. If you need to stay near the bus station, train station or are taking a pre/post cruise this is a hotel to recommend. Not far to walk to the attractions either. A very good stay.

    « Brilliant Place »

We are currently staying at the hotel and it is a wonderful experience. From the friendly staff to the friendly cat in the beautiful courtyard garden out the back for breakfast - it's all good. The location is wonderful- off from the noises of the Grand Canal but still close to all the areas of interest. Close to the bus station, all public transportation- train trams buses and water taxis. Rooms are very comfortable especially the bed. Good breakfast and nice area out the front for a beer along side a canal.

« Wonderful Hotel to End Vacation »

We stayed at the Olimpia for one night at the end of our cruise. We chose the Olimpia because it is close to the cruise ship terminal and right where we would catch the bus to the airport the next morning. Our room was wonderful; large and modern, but still with Venetian charm. The staff was terrific.

    « Convenient location »

This hotel was conveniently located. The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff was very courteous. The breakfast buffet was terrific and offered both American and European selections . Would definitely stay here again.

« beautiful hotel with excellent staff and location »

Stayed 2 nights after a cruise. The room was beautiful and spacious. They upgraded us to a suite which was a great surprise. There were courtesy drinks upon our arrival and breakfast each morning was delicious. They offered a great variety to choose from.

« Beautifully updated and very convenient property »

This is one the most convenient hotels before of after a cruise. It is a 10 minute walk from the people mover with only one set of steps to cross. The front desk staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are recently redecorated and we were given a junior suite after having booked a superior double room. Great breakfast and a beautiful garden in the back of the property with chairs and lounges. Highly recommended.

« Great location near train station and cruise terminal »

We arrived a day early for a Mediterranean cruise starting in Venice. We wanted a hotel we could take a cab to. Olimpia turned out to be a gem. The taxi stop is about 50 yards from the hotel, across a small canal. The staff was welcoming and arranged transfer of our luggage to the ship the next day. The room was small (this is Europe) but more than adequate. The breakfast (included) the next morning was spectacular. We were a 3 minute walk from the vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal and we actually walked to Piazza San Marco in about 20 minutes.

    « Hotel Olimpia Experience »

As a guest in this elegant hotel, it was one of the best hotels in the world! There is so many thing to talk about from the staff to the room. As you enter the hotel you will find a solid marble floor that is spick and span to your right you will find a nice hotel employee that can help you check into your room. After you check another staff member in a green suit will guide you to your room. That is when the magic came in place. The room is vast and neat you will find one bedroom and then there is some kind of medieval door that leads you to another bedroom which has two sun roofs but be careful there are plenty of mosquitoes that fly into the room and, when it's raining don't open it unless you want to flood the entire hotel. The bathroom is very glamorous and spotless, The floors in the bathroom is made of marble and the normal floor is made out of polished wood. Unfortunately the room has different outlets with three little holes if you have a device that doesn't plug in then bring an adapter or buy one there which is about 12 euros.(Keep in mind that this room is at the top floor The Staff is very nice they say ?Good morning? to you every morning. When you are done checking in a staff member will bring all your luggages up to your room. The lobby is clean and smells like grapefruit or something like that, the back of the hotel is a great scenery for photographers the flowers are scattered everywhere are they are vivid. There is a nice pathway that leads your either in a circle or a different building. That was pretty much my stay I loved this hotel. One more thing, There isn't a pool!

    « Nice location »

Located close to the train station and buses/taxis to the airport so you will not need to lug your luggage on the crowded water buses or pay for the expensive water taxis... Room is clean. Staff was friendly. Recommended!

    « Very good »

Location is perfect, people in the hotel is very nice and the breakfast is top. If we go back to Venice, we'll be booking certainly again here. The rooms are very clean and there is not a single sound from outside, your nights will be very cool.

    « LOVED IT! »

The hotel was selected by our travel agent as a spot near the cruise terminal/people mover. We easily negotiated our suitcases over the one small bridge to the hotel. What an absolute delight! It is located in a convenient, very quiet location ~ far from the madness of St Mark's Square. It is an adventure to walk the labyrinth of passageways and bridges from BW Hotel Olimpia to St. Mark's Sq. Manager Serena, Marta and Thomas were extremely helpful and friendly and eager to offer assistance whenever needed. Breakfast in their lovely garden exceeded expectations. Organic food was available, eggs, yogurt, bacon, sausages, fresh rolls and baked goodies ~ list goes on! The stewards, housekeepers and bartender were stellar. Highly recommend this quiet gem in a bustling city.

« Popular option for cruise travelers »

We booked Hotel Olimpia because of its proximity from the main train station and to the people mover. Our train was scheduled to arrive late evening and we would hardly have any time to explore Venice prior to boarding our cruise the following morning. Thus, we did not want to pay a higher nightly rate for a very brief stay. From the main train station, the distance is timed at less than 10 minutes. However, if you're hauling luggage, mind that you need to walk across a long pedestrian bridge followed by a smaller bridge. (If you arrive in Venice earlier in the day, you'll find more guys offering to carry your bags to/from hotel for a small fee). For the cruise-bound traveler, you only go over the smaller bridge to navigate your way to the people mover. Otherwise, note that the hotel is not accessible by vaporetto. Our room was on a higher floor and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Check-out time is strictly enforced but you can stow your bags easily. Hot (American) and cold breakfast options were decent - we enjoyed the variety of local breads and pastries available. We would certainly consider staying here again for pleasure.

    « comfort in venice »

we were only able to stay one night, but the hotel is centrally located ( tko us any way) the rooms were very comfortable and clean.our room was by elevator and the one flight of stairs. the people were very helpful and kind

    « This is a good hotel »

OK, so it is not in a fashionably central area, and it is not swish on the outside, but it is good inside! And there is a garden - rare in Venice, with breakfast outside in it an option. Our room (on the small side though said to be superior) was at the front of the hotel overlooking both a canal and, a bit further away, the bus station, but there was no noticeable noise. Interior seemed recently refurbished, clean, reliable new lift, and reception staff good. Vaporetto stop nearby, so all in all very convenient location.

« Wonderful hotel in a great location »

Stayed here after getting off of our cruise ship. The hotel is very convenient to the public transportation from the cruise port. It is very charming and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It is located right on one of the canals and it is a lovely place to have drinks. I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

    « awesome »

Very convenient location for the cruise terminal. Easy to walk everywhere from this location. Very friendly staff, fantastic breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Just love the lemon cake. No need to catch a water taxi from airport. Plaza Romania is just a bridge crossing away. All transport from airport goes there.

    « Charming and convenient »

The service was exceptional and the staff welcoming and helpful, which is not always the case in Venice during the high season. Our room was small, but comfortable, well-designed, and with a nice Venetian design touch. Although very close to Piazzale Roma, it has a nice back patio where you can have your breakfast in the morning, and it sits on a small canal.

« Cruise travelers - this is a great location! »

If you are going on a cruise out of Venice this is a great place to stay. It's quiet in the room even though you are located very conveniently close to Piazzalla Roma. We had a late flight into the Venice Airport - took a 40 Euro taxi (on wheels) to the Piazzalla Roma and walked about 3 minutes with our luggage to the Hotel Olimpia. We stayed a few nights in Venice, then walked 3 minutes from the hotel with our luggage (we brought carry-on roller bags and backpacks) to the Piazzalla Roma to get on the People Mover to get to the cruise ship docks. Upon our return from the cruise we picked up a car from Tranchetto (right by the cruise docks) and then dropped the car off after 5 days of driving through Italy. You could drop your car at the airport or drop it back to Piazzalla Roma and then take a cab back to the airport (we stayed one more night in Venice since we had an early flight). Lots of options with this location - the Hotel Olimpia is clean, quiet, very polite personnel, very conveniently located and served a nice continental breakfast. We are a family of four and booked a quad room which fit everyone comfortably. We were able to hop on a Vaporetto to Murano, or up the Grand Canal with a 3 minute walk, and we also started our Gondola ride from this area. There is a small Coop market and restaurants located nearby as well.

« Excellent Hotel, close to all transportation means »

We stayed here a night before our cruise and 2 night after. the hotel is a 3 min walk from the main square so coming from the air port and going to the cruise terminal is very easy. The hotel is clean and quiet with very pleasant and helpful staff. breakfast is very good and inexpensive.

    « A Great Place in Venezia »

The hotel is very well located, just on the entrance of this mystic city. Since there are too many bridges to find a hotel easy to access on Venezia was a must for us. We just left our car at one of the garages on the entrance and walk about 100 meters to the Hotel. the hotel is clean, elegant, just beautiful. It has a great garden where you can enjoy the delicious breakfast they offer. The staff is friendly. the room was spacious and amazing. We are very happy with our choice.

« Best Western Hotel Olimpia »

This hotel was located within a 5 minute walk from bus station and train station. It is on the opposite side of the island from St Mark's Basilica however this just allows you to take in all the sights either on foot or by vaporetta! The hotel is very clean. The garden is quaint and beautiful. The breakfast (included in your stay) is excellent! Staff were helpful and friendly and there is even a small bar attached that you can enjoy. Would definitely choose to stay again!

    « Excellent hotel »

We stayed here prior to our cruise, two lovely peaceful rooms for our family and what a superb breakfast including Prosecco ! Such a lovely quiet location but with all the main attractions of Venice just a walk away. We so enjoyed sitting in both the pretty gardens where we ate breakfast each morning as well as having several drinks in the canal side seating area served by one of the friendly waiters. The reception staff were lovely and especially Roberto, what a gem ! On the morning of our cruise the transfer via the people mover just a short stroll away was effortless. We have stayed in Venice previously before a cruise but the location and facilities of Hotel Olympia were by far the best we have experience. We will certainly be staying there again and would recommend the hotel without hesitation. Brenda Weatherill

« Great location to stay a night after airport »

We needed to stay one night in Venice after arriving to Marco Polo and then move on to Punta Sabbioni. Hotel Olimpia proved to be an excellent choice at a resaonable price for this purpose. Location is great - just a hundred meters from the bus stop and the vaporetto peers. The staff was very friendly. The room was quiet and big enough. The breakfast was surprisingly good in the courtyard garden. As for disadvantages: the ceilings are very low in the room, there were too many mosquitoes.

    « A 3-day holiday in Venice »

The hotel is lovely with its 16th century style mixed with modernism. Location wise, I found it was the best as we were at less than 5 min walk to the terminal (bus, taxi, train) considering that one has to carry luggage up and down the bridges. The quality of the stay was wonderful, the staff is very friendly, speaks many languages, is resourceful and respectful. Visiting again, I would definitely go back there without hesitation. Thank you for the wonderful stay!!

« Wonderful hotel in Venice »

We stayed at Hotel Olimpia for one night after a Mediterranean cruise. The ship arrived early into port and as a result we were at the hotel very early in the morning. They were extremely accommodating and helpful in making us comfortable and holding our bags until our rooms were ready. They provided us directions and information about the city and off we went exploring Venice. Upon our return later in the day our mountain of bags were safely in our rooms waiting for us. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was welcomed after a long day touring the city. In the evening they provided us with recommendations were dinner which we enjoyed thoroughly. The hotel is well situated to public transportation making access to the hotel very easy. Highly recommended this hotel based on our experience.

« Great hotel for those about to take a cruise »

A beautifully appointed small hotel located within a 2 minute walk of Piazzale Roma (which is where the People Mover to the cruise terminal is located.) The hotel faces a small neighborhood canal and surprisingly has a garden courtyard, an oasis where breakfast is served. I concur with the other reviews - quiet, well appointed rooms with nice bathrooms. The breakfast was delicious. The complimentary wifi worked well. The hotel staff is extremely helpful. The front desk person (Marta) is cheerful & accommodating. She loves her work & her city of Venice. The bellhop was so attentive that he did everything short on unpack for me. I feel that I received full value for the money that I spent.

« Excellent location for cruise terminal »

We spent a night here before our cruise the following day. Arriving earlier than normal check-in time was not a problem and we waited in the beautiful garden area for a short time until the rooms were ready. The staff were extremely helpful and arranged a taxi to collect us the next day to take us to the port. We chose to explore the area around the hotel on foot as we have visited Venice before and wanted to get to know a new pert of this beautiful city. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area which suited us but it would be easy to walk or use public transport to reach all the main attractions too. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped. There was no noise from the street outside, allowing for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice to suit all tastes. I would definitely recommend this hotel - especially if you are staying at either end of a cruise. The staff are all friendly and very willing to assist in making your stay a pleasant one.

« They were terrific, wished we'd had more time... »

Our trip to Venice didn't start out great. We'd booked a cruise and planned an extra day before to spend in Venice. The Airlines took that day (and night) away from us with jacked up flight delays. We spent that extra day (and night) waiting 11 hours in Heathrow Airport. It is important to point that out in this review because we didn't arrive at the hotel until 2:30am the morning of our cruise. We had called the hotel and told them what happened and they held our room for us. When we arrived, the night manager met us with smiles and showed us to our room. The room was exactly as the pictures showed, clean and well appointed. It served us well for the 3 hours of sleep we squeezed in. Breakfast offered many choices of both sweets and savories. The hotel held our bags for us while we did some "combat sightseeing" (It appears others did the same as the bags were racked and stacked--not the greatest time getting ours out from the back, but understandable--who doesn't want the chance to see more of Venice?) The location, which we didn't have a chance to appreciate the "night" before was perfect for catching the people mover to the cruise terminal and the Venice water taxis. Thank you Olimpia Hotel for helping us make the best of a rough and quick visit to Venice!! We will definitely keep you on the top of our list should we find ourselves in your beautiful city again!! :-)

    « Delightful »

Lovely hotel in every regard. The refurbished rooms are quiet, well appointed and a very good size. The bathroom is a generous size (only negative is the lack of bathroom bench space). The décor is traditional but nicely done. The public areas are also very pleasant and the garden area at the back of the hotel is a lovely spot. The breakfast was sensational! And all of this wonderfulness was matched by staff who were 110% pleasant, helpful and efficient. We ended up booking this hotel because of the location (we were coming off a cruise and had to get a very early flight a few days later so easy access to the airport bus or a land based taxi from Pizalle Roma was the key driver) and what a gem we ended up with. In terms of getting around in Venice it was less than a 5 minute walk to catch the vaperatto which travelled down the Grand Canal or walking no more than 25 mins to be in the key tourist spots. However there are numerous restaurants, bars, cafes, shops etc within a 5 minute radius of the hotel. If we return to Venice we will definitely choose this hotel again.

« A quiet location for busy Venice »

Hi. We stayed at the Olympia for 3 nights recently. It's very close to Piazza Roma. You can see it from the bus terminal after you arrive from the airport. I enjoyed it here because it's quiet, and you can get a good night's sleep. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is good. One night, I came home late and called the front desk to ask about a small shop that was open. I wanted to buy some fruit. The shop was closed but the older gentleman at the desk offered some fruit from the hotel at no charge! I expected an apple or an orange, but I received a whole tray of fruit!! That gentleman went out of his way to please a guest. I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you.

« Great choice for families, near bus terminal »

Booking a hotel in Venice was particularly tricky and required a lot of planning. First, we were a family of four so we needed a quad room, and choices are not as abundant as we would like to be. Second, it was a two night stay and we wanted a place that would have a convenient access to the both the ATV bus terminal (from the airport) and also the Santa Lucia train station. Also, being in the middle of the summer, a working AC would be more than a plus. Finally, some comfort items, like someone all the time in the reception, a luggage room (for sightseeing after checkout), and an elevator to minimizing howling luggage upstairs for four people were definitely pluses. The BW Olimpia meets all these requirements and we were more than happy with the choice. For the record, it was not cheap at all (Venice is not cheap) and it was not super fancy, but for Venice standards, it was like a four star hotel. Now to the review. First, a note about booking. This was one of the few instances where the hotel website rates/deals were not the best. We got the cheapest rate via booking dot com, which also offered a $5 per person buffet breakfast, which is a great deal. I suggest you look around, and the let the TA booking engine point to the best deal, and always compare to the hotel website. Probably the best thing about the hotel is its proximity to the bus and train terminal. We arrived at Venice by taking the ATVO bus ($8 euro per person - very convenient and fast with wifi on board) and landing at Piazzale Roma. From Piazzale Rome you can actually see the BW and have only to cross a small bridge to reach the hotel. Then, on the day we left, we need to go back to the Piazzale Roma, cross a long bridge (I think it is called Pte de la Constituzione) with about 50 steps and 50 steps down, then roll your luggage flat to the train station. A 10-minute walk. Hotel rooms are not big, but I thought we had enough space for 4. The bathroom was very well appointed and very clean. Shower head with good water pressure. A queen size bed and two sofa beds, very comfortable. Furniture is old, but then you can claim they are antiques. I was particularly indifferent on that. AC worked very well, very refreshing to be in the room. We bought breakfast and it was quite good. If the weather is good, you can have the breakfast outdoors in the patio/garden. Or you can eat indoors taking advantage of the AC. They have hot items (like eggs and bacon) but I preferred to stick to pastry, cheese, charcuterie, etc. Very friendly reception desk, they will be happy to provide tips for dining and how to move around. Since it is near piazzale roma, it was very easy to reach most places by taking the vaporeto (we bought a 48 hour ticket). A bonus: it happened to be my birthday the day we checked in and hotel send a complimentary bottle proseco (Italian champaign, since you cannot call sparkling wine champaign unless it comes from that particular region of France) and orange juice for the kids. A very nice touch. All in all, the hotel delivered all the things we expected it would, so I am giving it the highest mark. It was not cheap by any mean - for a comparison, the rate of the BW Olimpia was about the same as an all-inclusive in a highly rated resort in Jamaica, but then this is Venice, it was high season, and very few hotel met the criteria above. I am happy with the choice.

« Great hotel and location »

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our room looked over the garden and hence was quiet and picturesque. The room itself was beautifully decorated and the breakfast offered everything you could want. The hotel is situated on a quiet little canal and is close to the train station and only a 5 minute walk from the vaporetto stop. Would definitely stay here again. If arriving by train it is possible to walk with your luggage to the hotel however as you need to cross 2 bridges (one big and one small) I would suggest having a porter take your luggage as they do this on trolleys and then you only have to follow the porter and not resort to following directions and maps. Cost was €15 which we thought was reasonable for 2 large suitcases and hand luggage.

    « Great staying »

Clean little hotel, very helpful staff, great inexpensive breakfast. Close to bus and taxi, also cruise terminal. Some distance from the center, but very charming walks. As everywhere in Venice - accessible to water taxi. Prosecco in a morning. Try mackerel pizza around the corner: I was anxious but it was delicious

    « Great location »

We really enjoyed our stay here,5 mins walk from the train station. Our room overlooked the canal, the bus station was also just across a bridge next to the hotel .Clean hotel ,the staff were friendly a nice small bar area with tables outside overlooking the canal.Breakfast had a good choice of continental breakfast. Lots of nice restraunts nearby,2 right behind the hotel were good places to eat outside.5 mins walk from the train is over a bgi bridge wich is all steps! If you have big luggage and would struggle you might be better paying a porter at the train station, they seemed friendly enough and had big sack trucks. We struggled getting over the bridgeand we are pretty fit.

« Beautiful hotel, with a very good location »

This hotel is really nice, upgraded but with a feeling of Venice. Right by a canal and a 8 min walk to the Train station and 5 min. Walk to the car rental. It is a little bit of a further walk to St-marks square maybe 20-25 mins. Walk and a 15 mins. Walk to the rialto bridge. It's a great quality price hotel. We LOVED IT! A 15 TO 20 MINS. Walk in Italy is nothing. You are really close to the dorsoduro area of Venice were it's beautiful and not so commercial as the rialto bridge, gran canal area. Where you will find great restaurants and not as expensive!

    « Absolutely perfect »

This hotel is fabulous as are the staff. The breakfast was the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and the showers are great. Would 100% come back here. Personally I don't eat meat but the fish option was fantastic. There was salmon and Mackerel and it was delicious.

    « What a wonderful experience! »

We arrived at the hotel very early after a cruise, but the kind and helpful staff took care of the luggage before the actual check in, so we could immediately start enjoying the marvelous city. Our room was simply amazing! Spotless, with the charm of staying at a 16th century building plus all of the contemporary amenities and a gorgeous terrace with canal view. The hotel has an adorable garden to sit and relax after a long day and a delicious breakfast...great location too! Thanks, Gloria and rest of staff! I know without a doubt where to stay next time I come to Venice. Grazie!

This is definitely top of the line when it comes to Venice. The boutique hotel in my opinion is extremely well designed from the get go. The hotel itself has an amazing atmosphere and design from architecture to the rooms. Dont miss out on this place if you are coming to Venice.

    « Excellent Stay! »

We spent two nights at the Olimpia Hotel and it was fabulous! The location is great with easy access to the train station, but most importantly, the facilities, the staff and the breakfast were all excellent. It's a beautiful reprieve from a hot day of touring Venice. The Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful at the hotel. We had even left postcards at the front desk for mailing and realized at the airport that we had forgotten to put the address on it! The staff found the card and wrote the address for us. Super service! In my opinion, the hotel deserves a 4 star rating. The rooms are beautiful and make for a wonderful sleep and rest. I would definitely return!

    « Venice in April »

We stayed at this hotel in April for 5 days for our first visit to Venice. The beautiful hotel and the friendly helpful staff helped to make this holiday perfect. Our room was delightful and on the 3rd floor it looked out on to a canal and then over to the bus station but was surprisingly quiet. The shower was very clean and fresh and looked like it had been refurbished recently. The breakfast every morning was amazing, with everything you could want included, hot cooked food, pastries, fruit, cold meat, fish and cheese, cereal, juice, coffee, prosecco and more. We had a great trip and will come back to Venice one day and will stay at this hotel again. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

    « Beautiful hotel »

My husband and I stayed here while in Venice. The hotel is extremely convenient to Piazzale Roma, where the buses drop off (including the airport shuttle that we took). It was only about a 2 minute walk over a small bridge to get to the hotel. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful and spoke English well. The hotel itself was gorgeous and very clean. The room was comfortable and the view our room had of the canal was breathtaking. The biggest draw of the hotel was the fantastic air conditioning that worked very well despite the July heat. The hotel is convenient to several small restaurants and shops, and the bigger attractions are only a short boat ride away. Catching the bus back to the airport was a concern of ours, and the proximity of the hotel to Piazzale Roma was a major draw. Within 5 minutes of checking out, we were on the bus. Overall, we would stay here again.

We sifted from one hotel to this one after poor service. The lady at the front desk (I think her name was Selena) was extremely helpful, she spoke perfect English and helped us find a room. The rooms were clean, well set out and had a comfortable bed. This hotel is close to the bus station an a short walk to the railway station. Breakfast was amazing. The staff were all helpful and made our stay in Venice an excellent experience after a rocky start, would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights before our cruise. This hotel is so cute, loved the decor, loved the employees. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Our air conditioning was not working the first night there. I notified the front desk who immediately had someone to repair it, but unfortunately didn't work again after a few hours. They were out the next day and had replaced the thermostat which made for a much better nights sleep! They were very apologetic about the inconvenience and brought us fans to get by! They offered to put us in another room but we didn't want to switch rooms. The breakfast was outstanding! The trip to Murano offered by the hotel was wonderful! I would definitely stay here again if we ever returned to Venice!

    « Very nice hotel »

This hotel was clean and quite. The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke English quite well. The breakfast was good and a relative bargain for only 5 Euros. The only downsides were that it was fairly expensive and the room was very small. It would be ideal for a single traveler.

    « Beautiful & friendly hotel »

Arrived in Venice after overnight train from Vienna. 10 minute walk from Santa Lucia railway station. We arrived at 9.00 hoping just to drop our luggage off. Busy reception staff we very helpful and anxious that we knew what room we had booked being a small room with en suite bathroom. Concerned we would be disappointed. Far from it. The room was delightful beautifully decorated and all we could have hoped for. We were given a map of the city and helpful suggestions for walking into st mark square. Having been told we could check in at 12.00 instead of 2.00 we were discussing our plans outside the hotel when the receptionist came out to tell us we could have our room at 10.15 as it was almost ready.. Bed was comfortable and breakfast delicious and the complimentary drink that evening in the lovely garden was a welcome addition. Would highly recommend this hotel.

« An oasis in a very busy city. »

Due to the strange numbering system of houses in Venice the postal address is of no use to a tourist it is situated in Fondamenta dwella Burchielle. Leave the station and bear right which will bring you to the Ponte de la Republica. The designer of this bridge decided to light it by lights in the speps which themselves and which are one or two strides wide. These steps are dreadful to use when carrying lugage (as are all the bridge steps in Venice) there is a narrow non glass strip down the centre. The bridge is always busy! The bridbe leads you to the taxi rank (land taxi that is) and the bus statin. Keep to your left until you come to the Tre Ponte. As you climb the steps of this bridge you will see the hotel slightly to your right along side a small canal. At the bottom of the bridge turn right and proceed along the walk way, the hotel is the third building on your left. There is a doorman and a luggage porter. Reception is friendly ane very helpful, all speaking perfect English. I was lucky, I was given room 142 which is across the garden at the back of the hotel and is in an annex which is actually a building facing a small square. The garde is little used but is an ideal place to relax at the end of the day. My room was beautuiful, that is all I need to say. The breakfast selection is good. I had dinner at the restaurant nextdor, a canal side table, try throwing a piece of bread into the canal and wait for the fish to take it. Everything about this hotel is very good and I can thoroughly recommend it.

« Great location to the People Mover, friendly staff, clean hotel, beautiful grounds, but pricier than maybe it should be »

I'm super picky about hotels and their cleanliness, so just making note of that. We stayed here to be close to the People Mover as we were leaving on a cruise the following day, and also didn't want to spend a ton of money on pricier hotels. I chose this one based on reviews, location, and the fact that it wasn't a comforter on the bed, but more of a washable and clean duvet type (comforters in hotels gross me out because I imagine they haven't been cleaned). The front desk staff was very nice and accomodated our higher floor with a view request. But honestly, they were explaining about mosquitos being present (it was a warm June 23rd day) and with Zika going around, we opened the windows to look at the canal, and kept the closed the remaining time to avoid mosquitos and enjoy the a/c. The bed was clean, but the couch had some stains on it, and the bathroom was clean, but the shower drain was super clogged when we showered, so we were standing in about 6-8 inches of dirty water: which grosses out the germaphobe in me. It was 11:30pm Venice time when we were showering and the front desk said there were no plumbers/maintenance men around so we'd have to wait until morning (which is when we'd be checked out) The breakfast had a nice selection of food that was decent (we paid a little extra to eat here as it wasn't included in our reservation). This was our very first night in Europe, so being used to American breakfasts of french toast, pancakes, eggs and bacon, the boiled eggs, salmon and cheese, and dainty pastries (which weren't overly fantastic) were foreign. But if I wanted an american breakfast, I would've stayed in America ;) or gone somewhere different for breakfast. All in all the conveience of having your breakfast readily available in the hotel lobby was worth it. The front desk allowed us to use their landline to call my cell provider since my international calls weren't working. I was easily, and unexpectedly, on the phone with them trying to troubleshoot my phone's defect for at least 45 minutes, and the front desk staff couldn't have been nicer. They also give you a welcome drink at the bar when you arrive. A lot pricier than we'd spend normally on hotels, but for the location this place was great.

    « Lovely Hotel & Amazing Staff »

My friends and I stayed at the hotel while on a European vacation and it was an amazing experience. The location made it easy to navigate around Venice. The hotel is clean, beautiful and comfortable and the best part was the welcoming staff! The staff was patient, kind and incredibly helpful. Robert in particular was absolutely lovely, helpful, accommodating and engaging, so much so that I will miss him. He's a genuinely wonderful person. Anytime I'm back in Venice, I will always stay here and look forward to returning for my next visit!

« Great location for a pre and post cruise stay »

We chose this hotel for two pre-cruise nights because of its location. We took the high-speed train in from Rome and everything I read was that it was "two bridges away" from Santa Lucia station. However, the first bridge is a doozy and there's no ramp for easily taking your luggage across. The second bridge is smaller and much more manageable. When leaving on a cruise you only take that second bridge back to Piazalle Roma, then turn left to head to the People Mover to the cruise terminal. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite, but that it was on the 5 floor and the lift only went to the 4th. After a groan from us they said not to worry that the porter would take our luggage up. The room was a converted attic so it was of an odd configuration but the air conditioning was cold (almost too cold!), the room modern, and the bed comfortable. You would never know that it was built in the 16th century. We had breakfast included in our rate and it was decent, though the breakfast room did get crowded. There's a garden in back where you can eat and relax though we didn't use it. The staff was always helpful. The thing I noticed right away is that if you asked a question they would always stand up when they talked to you. I know it's something little but as an American I don't think I've ever seen that before. As an aside, after our cruise we flew out of Venice Marco Polo airport. I've never seen a worse airport in my life. If you are arriving from a cruise may I suggest you take the 4-hour high speed train to Rome, spend a couple days there, and then fly out of Rome? You can find my review a great hotel in Rome in my profile.

    « Great location -- amazing breakfast »

This is an old hotel which has lost some of his historic charm and architecture features because of recent renovations to modern amenities. However, we had the best service and the room had a fantastic air conditioning system. Venice was unbelievably hot during our stay. The hotel has also an excellent location, right next to the train and bus stations. The best part of this hotel is the breakfast. It was so copious!

    « Fantastic experience »

This was the last part of our holiday and with Venice being quite expensive we had no real expectations. When we booked, the hotel was full, however they confirmed accommodation in their annex. When we arrived we were surprised to be told they had managed to secure us a room in the hotel itself with a canal view. We were delighted! The rooms are lovely and bathrooms very clean. Staff fantastic and extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was delicious with loads of variety. All in all a fabulous experience. Bonus is the proximity to both train and bus station. No water taxi needed to get to hotel.

« This Hotel and Robert saved my friends and I! It is gorgeous and filled with amazing staff!!!!!! »

When my friends and I arrived in Venice, we had to change where we originally were going to stay and find a new place last minute. I tried to find a place online via kayak but had no clue about navigating the neighborhoods. I thought I had found a spot near the center, but realized when we were dropped right in the middle of town near the bus station to get to it, the hotel I chose was on the main lands (oops, nowhere near Venice)! We could see many hotels right where we stood near the bus station and the first one that stood out was Hotel Olympia. I thought fat chance of getting a room at one of these places right in the middle last minute, but I knew the three of us had to try. It was a hot day and I was ready to get rid of my bags and shower after traveling from Prague! As we walked into Hotel Olympia, the much needed blast of AC was very refreshing and the marble surroundings were so elegant. We then were greeted by the very kind Robert. As frantic as I was, he was calm, so helpful, and very patient. Thank goodness because our short stay of two nights at Hotel Olympia were amazing!!! No problems speaking to the staff in English either. The rooms were comfortable and beautiful! Oh the stunning gorgeous courtyard view!! The shower had plenty of room too. After worrying where in the world we might stay, a long nice hot shower to unwind was amazing!! The cozy beds had me sleeping so soundly each night as well, especially with the very cold air conditioning! Then, on top of all that, the breakfast that was included with our stay was plentiful and very yummy! I would stay there again just for the breakfast, but more so for the staff! Robert was a life saver and was so accommodating. After unwinding and getting ready for dinner, we came down and asked him for a recommendation of where to eat. He recommended a fantastic place and the food was amazing. Oh, and it was very easy to get to since the hotel was centrally located right next to the bus station. We easily could walk to everything and were able to hop right on a bus to the airport when we had to leave for our next destination. The other staff helped out a lot as well and spoke perfect English. However, Robert made our stay just because he saw how stressed I was and calmed me down when we first arrived (a hard thing to do with my stubborn attitude at times). I would recommend this hotel to anybody and everybody. Not just for the Hotel's comfort and beauty, but especially the many helpful ways of the staff. It is worth the buck. If I ever go back I am definitely staying here again.

« This Hotel is a real Gem!!!! »

Enroute to a cruise to Greece from Venice, we decided to arrive a day early to avoid the stress of missing the boat. We decided on Hotel Olimpia since it was close to the cruise ship dock. Were were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms. This hotel had a a flower garden courtyard which is rare in Venice.. The courtyard can be used for lounging or dining. Just outside the front door of the hotel were its outside cafe tables right on the canal. The housekeeping, bar keep and hotel staff were friendly and informative. The hotel was easy to get to since this part of Santa Croce is adjacent to the mainland. Hop off the the bus from the airport, walk across a bridge and your there. Santa Croce, one of the 5 provinces of Venice was charming. Many locals reside there, and it is much less tourist like than the popular San Marco. After our cruise we spent another 3 days in San Marco out of convenience to be close to the action. If I had to do it again, we would have stayed at Olimpia and used the Vaporetto, (public bus (boat) service for day trips into San Marco.Oh, I forgot to mention the breakfast. While we were expecting Continental, they had more variety than IHOP!

« Ideal Venice hotel location »

Hotel Olimpia is ideally situated - close to Piazzale Roma's bus and vaparetto water bus; St Lucia station and Cruise terminal. Rialto and Academia areas are only 15 min walk. Many small pizzeria nearby. Our third floor room overlooked a beautiful garden. Quiet, with large comfortable bed but storage space tight. Excellent breakfast with optional outdoor tables beside sunny garden. Staff were excellent and friendly. Highly recommended for proximity to transport, ease of access and for quiet, relaxed stay. Great value.

« The Hotel Olimpia is a GREAT hotel!! »

We were warmly welcomed to the Hotel Olimpia. Our room was beautifully decorated and the marble bathroom was gorgeous! Our room overlooked a canal, and we were able to see the Grand Canal from our window, too. The breakfast was fresh and delicious with a wide variety of choices. The garden in back of the hotel was beautiful. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Olimpia to anyone visiting Venice!!

« Hotel gem one of a kind »

We stumbled upon Best Western Hotel Olimpia and couldn't have chosen a better hotel. Last minute my friends and I needed a place to stay and Robert was more than happy to help. Lucky for us there was availability for the two nights we planned to be in Venice. The hotel and rooms are very clean. The staff is amazing everyone was so kind. Complimentary breakfast was fantastic. Robert gave us great recommendations for food and sightseeing. Needless to say Best Western Olimpia was such a pleasant encounter with delightful hospitality and will be our hotel for any future visits to Venice. Our stay and experience is one I will never forget!

The hotel is very convenient if you are looking to stay close to the bus stations. We stayed two nights, the staff was very friendly, the room was bigger than expected and very clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

This is a great hotel. It has a prime location situated next to Piazzale Roma and the train station with easy access to cruise ships and the train. Rooms are large and with all the necessary amenities. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. I will stay here again in my next visit.

    « Great hotel »

We came in about 9pm and checked in at the hotel. The check in process was fast and they gave us a great recommendation for dinner close by that would still be open. We took the bus from the Venice airport and this could not have been easier to find. It is very close to the bus station and train station but you don't feel like it is. The room was comfortable, clean and very nice. The bed was really comfortable. We had the breakfast and it was wonderful, it was not included with our rate but was only 5 euros a day and was a great deal. It is so easy to walk everywhere in Venice and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

« Staying in this hotel, make your wonderful Venice experience easier! »

This is our second time to Venice.I chose this hotel as its location is the best, just few meters to walk to ple. Roma, which is convenient to visit every part of Venice by vaporetto waterbus and to airport by ACTV or ATVO shuttle bus. I especially enjoy the space of the room and the newly equipped facilities, clean and well decorated.Oh,don't miss up the luxury breakfast,it is just fantasy!Definitely will return again!

« The most wonderful hotel »

We took a cruise in June which left from Venice. We've visited this hotel in Venice before and had a wonderful stay. This trip was even better! The hotel has had an upgrade and is even more beautiful ! The staff was never too busy to book a tour or give directions or answer questions. They let us leave our luggage before and after our stay!! Andre went out of his way to find us another bed (we had booked a room with a queen bed not knowing that in Italy it is required for a small one to have their own bed)! You really must stay here when you visit Italy. The hotel is by the canal, close to the train station and port. The breakfast is a and eye appealing, delicious buffet overlooking the beautiful garden!! You won't want to stay anywhere else in Venice..

« Perfect hotel, excellent breakfast! »

Excellent hotel can't fault it at all, lovely clean room, a nice mix of venetian and modern decor very pretty throughout the hotel. Good location easy to get around by boat or foot. Lovely staff very friendly. Breakfast was fantastic, massive choice of food and lovely to sit out in the pretty garden of a morning. We actually booked for November but had to change the dates to April, and we had booked a non refundable room, but they were more than happy to change it for us without any charge, Fantastic customer service.

    « Nice to visit »

The hotel is located very close to the bus main station, on a small chanel (any in Venice? :) ) It is very nicely decorated, combining vintage with modern touch. Restaurant very good (have to wait a bit for cooking) and the employees friendly. Same are the pigeons that will join you for lunch/dinner :)

« A handy little Hotel easy to find... »

We arrived to Venice, from our princess cruise and made our way to this little hotel. The staff were very helpful and efficient. Our room was small with a very modern on suite bathroom. The morning breakfast was lovely you have a choice to have it by the garden or inside a cafe style area, again simple but satisfying. In the afternoon there is a bar downstairs to have a cold beverage and again you can sit outside on the canal or inside the bar area both lovely. When leaving this hotel is a very short walk to the main bus station that takes you straight to the airport,( As in Venice you will see people lugging bags, suitcases loaded up going up and down cobble paths over and under bridges... it can be quite a challenge that's where this hotel is great) I hope you enjoy your stay as we did and make the most of Venice.

« pre cruise stay in Venice »

Great hotel for anyone going to Venice before a cruise. Excellent position a few minutes from the bus station. If you are travelling from Venice airport this is where the bus stops.Hotel is also a few minutes from the train station and the people mover which takes guests to the cruise terminal. Vaporetta and access to Grand Canrel a few minutes away. Absolutely ideal for anyone travelling. Hotel is lovely very clean, nice breakfast and very pleasant staff. An added bonus is the lovely garden, an oasis in the centre of the hotel. Blissful to sit here in the sun after a hectic day or before starting out for the day. Some breakfast tables are laid in this area. We had no difficulty in transporting ourselves and cases to our cruise ship. It couldnt have been easier. However if you are disabled it might be more of a problem. There are some steps from the bus station over the canal to the hotel. We did see people on the street with trolleys to help transport cases etc.Offers of help also came from passers by. Hotel can arrange transport though if you are in this situation. People carrier is only 1 Euro 50 one way for 1 person plus cases.

    « Pre-cruise Hotel »

We booked 4 rooms at this Hotel for our family for 2 days as a pre-cruise hotel. We were welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient for transport from the airport. A very short walk from the taxi/bus area in Piazalle Roma. The rooms were very good and the garden area was beautiful. Ideal hotel to use before cruising out of Venice.

« Best Western Olimpia Hotel - Venice Italy - Fantastic!!!! »

The Best Western Olimpia Hotel in Venice is a hidden gem! My family of 4 spent four nights there in June 2016. We also traveled with another family. This is one of the few hotels that can accommodate four people in one room. The hotel is located just a short walk from the main train station, water taxis, and ground transportation. It is on a side canal which connects to the Grand Canal in Venice. The staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and made us feel welcome. English is widely spoken, I would like to recognize the outstanding welcome we received from night manager Roberto G.. He was always willing to help and answer any questions we had. He made us feel right at home and was such a kind and genuine person. The daytime hotel staff was also excellent with Andrea going out of his way to assist us with anything we needed! The hotel itself was very clean and had an amazing breakfast! They also had a beautiful garden area, which was a surprise! Sipping a cappuccino or glass of wine in this setting was very memorable. My only regret is that our vacation was over and it was time to leave! I highly recommend the Best Western Olimpia Hotel and will return! Do not hesitate to make a reservation,,,its that good!

    « Best Indeed! »

A mere 15 minutes bus ride from the airport at 8 euros per pax the Best Western is easily accessible from the Piazza Roma. Just two weeks bridges across the Terminal which in Venice is unusual! 450 bridges in all. So if one has mobility issues or travelling with young children this hotel is great! Breakfast was superb at 5 Euros each. Lovely stay.

    « Pre-Cruise Hotel in Venice »

This is a nice hotel in a great location for cruise ship travelers. We stayed here two nights and were able to walk with our luggage to the People Mover which takes you close to the cruise ship terminal. They offer a nice breakfast.

« Great hotel in Venice. Perfect location »

A great hotel, literally opposite Piazza Roma (where the transport arrives into Venice) so you can easily walk to the hotel with only a couple of bridges. Hotel was comfortable: room was good, bathroom was modern. Staff were very helpful welcoming. Breakfast was good also with plenty of continental choice. There is also a nice seating area out the front of the hotel by the canal which is pleasant in the evening. Main attractions are about a half hour walk away which is fine, lots of bridges to go over which is expected, but better to do this walk from the hotel to the tourist attractions than have to do it with your luggage to a hotel nearer the centre!

« Bautiful hotel near cruise port »

Family of 4 needed a room for one night. Surprised by how nice this hotel was. We had the top floor room. Kids in one section, us in another. Spacious bathroom with walk in shower. King size bed and sitting area. Boys had sofa and extra bed. Mattresses were comfortable. Breakfast was typical European style which suited us. Hotel located a short walk to start of water bus, so easy to see Venice sites. If you need a place to stay before or after you cruise, i recommend this hotel.

« Lovely hotel, convenient location »

Our cruise ended in Venice and we wanted to spend a couple of days in Venice in a location that was convenient to both the People Mover from the port and the bus station for the airport bus, and Hotel Olimpia fit the bill. An added attraction was the lovely garden, where we would have breakfast and drinks after touring the city. The location is an easy walk from the People Mover: as you exit the People Mover, look straight across the bus station. You will see Hotel Arlecchino. Olimpia is next to it to the right, across a small bridge. We arrived in the morning and our room was not ready yet, but the hotel stored our luggage and suggested that we buy a 24 hour pass on the vaporetto, which we did, and had a lovely morning sightseeing on the Grand Canal. When we returned, our room was ready, and our luggage had been brought up. I had requested a quiet room on a high floor. I was a little perturbed when I saw that our room number was 109, but it turned out to be on the third floor, facing the lovely garden. The front desk was very helpful and the clerks spoke perfect English. The breakfast buffet was excellent, consisting of scrambled eggs, sausages, cold cuts, lox, cereals, yogurt, fruit, juices, coffee machine, and chilled Prosecco -- a very Italian touch. The only minus I can think of is that the lighting in the bathroom was terrible, and some shelves for toiletries would have been a nice touch. A caveat: if you are a member of the BW rewards program, make sure to book this hotel either directly or on the BW website. I booked on a third party website and did not the get points.

« Great value for money »

Love this hotel and keep returning. It's comfortable, clean and convenient with a friendly atmosphere no hesitation in recommending it for a stay in Venice. Have now stayed in it 3 times. Location near the bus terminal and the rail station is very convenient for the traveller with the usual plethora of restaurants and bars nearby. A bit of a hike to the main tourist attractions but isn't that part of the charm of Venice! We have stayed at the hotel on 3 occasions and it is always our first choice when planning a trip to Venice. Staff are friendly and speak English fluently. A very relaxing place to stay.

« Charming hotel in perfect location »

We stayed just one night at the Hotel Olimpia and loved it. We had paid a bit extra for this hotel (compared to others) and also for a superior room, but for the little extra cost it was so worth it and we felt spoilt in our luxury room. We were staying the night before a cruise which made the location very convenient- not having to drag our luggage further into the city than necessary. We got the bus from the airport and then the people mover to the cruise terminal. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the garden was very good (particularly the lemon cake). Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a luxurious hotel with good value for money.

« Venice Hotel for Cruisers »

The PLUSES : The Hotel Olimpia is part of the great Best Western chain so its services meet a high standard. Everything here worked. Unlike other Venice Hotels we have stayed in the floors are level! Hot showers, spotless bath, linens and a new elevator to get up and down. Great professional staff and a marvelous buffet breakfast. THe staff made our excursions to the Opera and The Peggy Guggenheim Museum a great trip by foot with a good guide map and a return by Vaporreto that was less wonderful. We booked this hotel since we were disembarking from a Holland America Med cruise and needed good access to the cruise terminal. In prior years I have struggled with luggage whenever we visited Venice. Once by car we left our bags in the trunk and worried about them since they are not accessible after you park. Two years ago we used the People Mover from the Cruise ship and found that we could walk on the roadway faster ( but harder.) Since we were cruising we had a lot of luggage - 4 large rolling bags. This time because of the P. Roma location of this hotel we used a CAB! 20 Euro from the cruise terminal and no sore back - bargain of the day. Another advantage of the P. Roma location is that the Taxis have a regulated rate of only 40 Euro to Marco Polo Airport ( saves about 20 Euro over the Cruise Terminal charges). The Taxi rank is an easy roll over one bridge with perhaps 30 steps to lift your bags over. Now the NEGATIVES : High Tides: This applies to ANY visit to Venice. We got shut down on our Opera night by one of the infamous high tides - we had the worst in 8 years on June 16th. ALWAYS CHECK THE HIGH TIDE TABLES FOR VENICE AND BUY YOUR WADING BOOTS IF NECESSARY. You do then get to see Venice like the Honeymooners Ed Norton would have liked! The Olimpia Hotel and most of P. Roma is on higher ground, so if you are not out in Venice you should be very comfortable. Food: Venice is not great for food. There are a number of very good Pizza restaurants near the Olimpia as well as a very good bake shop for better dessert and coffee. It is possible to get a good meal in Venice, but it will be expensive, probably require a Water Taxi to get to ( figure a 100 Euro for that luxury) and won't make you think you are in Milan or Naples. Crowds: A problem with the P. Roma location are the crowds during rush hours. As you return to the Hotel on a Vaporetto or water taxi you will get delayed by the traffic jams with folks headed to and from the train station and car parks. Returning from The Accedamia Bridge near the Guggenheim Museum took well over an hour and it is way too hot and crowded for safely taking photos ( which you can do when you are outbound from S.Roma.) On Opera Night we dined in Harry's Bar, very formal and our best clothes on of course. As we left for the walk to the Opera the street filled with water. In ten minutes it was a foot deep and gushing FROM the sewers. The rats in Venice are good swimmers and seemed to enjoy their outing! We were not getting to the Opera and the Vaporetto was not stopping there either. We used the Alilaguna Express boat from San Marco to get BACK TO THE CRUISE SHIP TERMINAL - ONE STOP, FIFTEEN MINUTES. We walked over to the People Mover ( which now costs 1.5 Euro ) and were back to our hotel in 20 minutes despite the flooding. General Warnings about Venice : Crowds = pickpockets. There are lots of migrants begging on the street, recently mostly African migrants. If your heart goes out to these folks have some coins handy to give them, you will need a bunch since they are at every corner. Venice is magical - even wallets can disappear when you take them out. Getting lost : There are no street signs to guide you. The names of streets are supposed to be painted on the walls of the corner buildings. The best guide points are occasional corners with Yellow panels with direction arrows to basic landmarks, such as Rialto, S.Marco, Accademia, P.Roma. IMHO - Best to have a map and a good sense of where those landmarks are relative to your position. You need a compass for this. The compass in your phone is a great help in interpreting your paper map. I found Google maps to be pretty useless as the narrow streets block reliable GPS or cell location. They work fine on the bridges and Piazzas but send you in circles otherwise.

    « A delightful surprise »

We were given a room in a building off the main hotel. To get to the room, we passed though a beautiful garden, full of flowers and greenery. It was a very nice surprise. The room was elegantly decorated in an "old world" style. It was clean, spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The water was hot and plentiful. The hotel is located close to the Santa Lucia train station and the Roma bus and tram terminal. If coming from Santa Lucia, you have to lug your suitcases over a couple of bridges; if coming from the Roma terminal, you have only one bridge to cross. All things considered, it's not too bad. The staff was friendly, professional, and fluent both in English and Spanish. They were very helpful to us regarding buses and bus schedules to the Marco Polo airport. (The Marco Polo airport is sometimes referred to as "Tessera" by the locals, after the town of the same name. There is another airport located at the town of Treviso.) Great room, great location. Highly recommended.

    « location, location, location »

The hotel is 3-4 minutes walk from the where the airport shuttle drops you off. Only 1 bridge to lug your bags over. % minutes to the people mover if you are cruising. Its also the same to get to the nearest water bus stop. A kiosk to buy the tickets and book a godola ride is just off to the left of where the buses park. The quadruple room is comfortable and furnished in a classical style. The service is efficient. The breakfast is adequate. We did not face any mosquito menace, the a/c was on and we closed the windows. In all a comfortable stay and very convenient location for coming in to and going out of venice.

    « Little gem »

This hotel is beautifully appointed. The soft furnishings and decor are fresh and clean. The bathroom is clean and has beautiful tiles. The location is perfect with easy access to the people mover, train, bus services and car park if you get car transport from the airport. It is situated next to a quiet canal where you can sit and enjoy a few drinks and a light meal whilst watching people walking over the bridges at the end of the canal. The breakfast area is beautifully decorated and has outdoor tables in the pretty garden out the back. Our room overlooked the garden which was quiet. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly cruise passengers as it is not far to the people mover to the cruise terminal.

« Cozy hotel with good location »

The hotel location is very nice, close to train and bus. For people going to cruises, the people mover with direct access to the cruise terminal is just a few steps away. Our hotel room in the back building is very nice and quiet, even though no elevator. The courtyard garden is lovely. But the absolute best is Robert G. greeting you at the reception desk. He is very helpful and knowledgable, but his dry sense of humor is exceptional. So don't be intimidated by his serious manner, he is having fun and wants you to have the same. When you know him more, he will share life stories and knowledge. And ask for his eye glass collection, we were impressed ...

    « Perfect! »

The location is priceless!! Want to drag 100lb worth of luggage over 8 different bridges and get lost? The you should find another hotel. This place is right off of the people mover/ trains/ buses! It's really nice on the inside and way more room than the other we stayed at. If your going on a cruise, I HIGHLY suggest staying here. For a euro and a half each, you can ride the people moved the the terminal and it's a very short walk! Totally worth it! The staff was friendly- and you even get a free voucher for two people to have wine on the porch.

    « Great "Mistake"! »

I cannot say enough about this place. My party of 4 was meeting a friend in Venice. We crossed some wires and there was a mix up on travel dates so we ended up in this part of Venice to meet our friend who had made arrangements for our accommodations who was not there. It was about 10:30 in the evening so we needed to get a hotel. Walked into one, did not care for it. Went to this one next. It was very nice and we were worried about how much it would cost. The kind gentleman at the front desk gave us a very fair rate in consideration of the fact that it was fairly late. We were tired, hungry and of course needed some wine:) They kept the bar open for us and brought us some food they had prepared on the fly which was nothing fancy yet perfect. The could not have been more friendly and welcoming to us and the rooms were charming and bed was very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. They held out luggage once checking out until we could meet up with our friend and also helped us find the correct water taxi. We did even go back later in the week for a glass of wine there. I loved this hotel for a variety of reasons and recommend it highly! Oh yes, it is also a great location!

« Great location, excellent service and friendly staff »

We had stayed here once before, and didn't hesitate to book the first three nights of our honeymoon at Hotel Olimpia. They arranged a private transfer from the airport and welcomed us back on arrival. The staff are always very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We were greeted with a two free glasses of prosecco and a bottle of prosecco in our room. The bedroom was clean and tidy and had a old Venetian style but to a modern standard. Good breakfast(buffet). Location also good. Minutes away from train and bus stations, and water bus.

    « Great stay »

Clean, clean, nice employees. Best western in Europe are not the US version. Don't get turned away by the name. Also very close to train and bus station. Which is nice with a bunch of luggage. You can manage without help. I would stay here again.

« Budget conscious and charming »

Charming hotel set in a converted 16th century building. The rooms are very spacious with quaint painted closets and matching chairs. The bathrooms were clean and well lit. The shower was a bit narrow but the water pressure was perfect. Beds were comfortable but by no means grand. Closet safe was very small (no room for laptop - another reason I should have left it home). Air conditioning in room was not overly loud. Buffet breakfast in the morning is €5 extra - worth it for the selection, plus you can eat it in the outdoor garden. It is a bit of a maze to get to the rooms but once you learn the route, you'll be fine. Narrow hallways and small elevators not recommended for families with strollers. May be able to get some main floor rooms as a work around to this. Pleasant staff but wasn't used to being asked to drop off my room key every time I exited. Less than a 10 minute walk from the train station. Easy access to water taxis to get around Venice. Would recommend.

    « A nice hotel »

We spent 3 nights with our friends on a quick visit to Venice. We were initially worried about being so far out of town but it is a quick vaparetto ride. Lovely well-appointed rooms, although our friends was facing the alley and a bit noisy. A good breakfast in a lovely space. The staff is very helpful and speak most English well. The bar is well appointed but is really just the breakfast area.

    5
« excellent location with helful and friendly staff »

This hotel is conveniently located10 min walk from railway station and less than 5 mins from bus station and vaparetto. It's on a quiet street but restaurants and bars are close by. Our room on the 4th floor was very peaceful and overlooked the red tiled roofs of other properties and walled gardens below full of flowers. The room was immaculately clean and included a dressing room which was a luxury we weren't expecting. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Thanks in particular to Robert G at Recepton for his helpfulness. Breakfast was worth the extra 5 euros per day and included the option of delicious cakes and pastries.

« Friendly, comfortable and a complementary drink! »

We stayed at this lovely hotel one night before our cruise in May and two nights after the cruise. Hotel Olimpia is located on a quiet side canal. There were tables by the canal where you could enjoy a snack or a drink or just sit and relax. The location is superb - very close to Piazzale Roma, the transportation hub, with buses to the airport; the train station, the people mover station and the vaporetto (water taxi) station are located there as well. There is only 1 small bridge to cross, to get to the hotel, which is extremely convenient when dealing with luggage. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We received a ticket for a complimentary prosecco. They also offer a complimentary water taxi to the island of Murano which includes a tour of a wonderful glass factory with exceptional works of art. After the tour you are free to walk around Murano and then you pay for your return trip. We got a 24 hour Vaporetto pass which worked well for us. The Vaporetto runs 24 hours a day and there are many boats and many routes. Hotel Olimpia is an old building which has been updated. The elevator is small but works well. The rooms are very clean and well appointed though on the small side, as is often the case in older buildings. We were fortunate to get a room with a sofa but not all rooms had one. Our window overlooked the beautiful back garden. A note about mosquitoes. Venice, with all its water, has many mosquitoes. The hotel does not have screens - they aren't the custom in Venice, apparently. They offer a plugin device with a pad to kill any mosquitoes in your room. We had a pizza in the bar after a tiring day and it was delicious! And Breakfast: mmmm. Breakfast was served on tablecloths with china and cutlery and a piece of chocolate beside the plate!. It included eggs, bacon, sausages, salads, spinach pie, smoked salmon, breads, fruit and the most delicious baked goods. The lemon cake was amazing. Juice and a coffee cappuccino machine was available as well. You could take your breakfast outside to the tables in front of the garden if you wished. As you can tell, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Olimpia immensely. It was a lovely oasis to return to after a long day of exploring Venice.

« decent hotel with a great location »

the best western olimpia has a great location especially for cruisers. we managed to have an especially easy commute from the airport using the actv bus.the staff was really friendly and helpful, always smiling. the water bus station is also 2 min away making commutes to the major tourist sites easy. the room was spacious and well maintained. it faced one of the minor canals. the breakfast buffet was had a decent enough spread.

« A very nice hotel, especially if you're going on a cruise »

The convenience of this hotel for those flying into Marco Polo airport and staying in Venice before going on a cruise, is that you get off the train, or bus, from the airport and it's a short walk over to the hotel. Then it's a short walk from the hotel to the people mover to the cruise terminal. That by itself was great. But the staff being friendly, the breakfast quite good, the old setting where everything was pretty new, all made this even better.

« Hotel with Great Location »

The staff at this hotel was very friendly and accommodating. We rented a car and the location was a quick walk to the parking garage and what looked like the bus/train station. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was descent.

This hotel was simply fantastic! After looking through up 100's of hotel we are happy we chose Hotel Olimpia. You save a lot of stress buy getting of the train and walking to the hotel. The rooms were comfortable , the breakfast was 5star (even Prosecca is served) The hotel staff were all so friendly. Unless you can afford a thousand Euros a night , you wont get better value- worth every cent

« Amazing hotel in Venice, very impressed! »

We had a wonderful experience at Best Western Olimpia. My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights for our anniversary and we were very impressed with the quality of the hotel and staff. The property was truly impecable and beautifully decorated, very Venetian style but not with old-smelling furniture, everything seemed new, yet classical. The staff was absolutely amazing, very friendly and caring. Upon departure, we checked out at 5 am because we had an early flight to catch, and they even prepared a breakfast bag for us with croissants, fruits, juices and toasts for our trip to the airport. A major convenience of this hotel is that it is right next to the bus and train stations, meaning you don't have to drag your luggage all around Venice or pay an expensive water taxi ride as if you were in the center of the island.

« Great stay in a great city »

Hotel is close to transport - a 15 min walk from the rail station, and just opposite the bus and taxi terminal. We asked for a superior room and were given room 205, the "Romeo and Juliette Suite", an upmarket accommodation. Definitely the room to ask for. Breakfast is excellent and we sat in the garden, a profusion of flowers and loveliness. The male breakfast attendant was warm and helpful. There are cafes and restaurants all around the hotel. BWestern is on the edge of the city, a great plus for us. After spending a day pushing thru thousands of people, coming back to a quiet area for dinner and to end the day was great.

great location. short walk to train station and bus terminal-reasons I chose-had 6:30 flight out of Venice. Room was fine, front desk helpful. Part of hotel where I was was a maze. Needed help to find way back to room. All part of the charm of Venice-Entire city is a maze and amazing.

    « A Must Stay At »

What a fabulous place!!! This beautiful hotel just encompasses the very classic, historical, magical essence of Italy. The hotel is absolutely just exquisitely beautiful down to the very last detail. We stayed here for our honeymoon, and could not have chosen a better place to stay at during this special time. The room was spacious and emulated the very essence of the Renaissance era...just beautiful. One of the things we enjoyed most about this magical place, was the complimentary breakfast buffet!! Holy food heaven, this buffet was not only breathtakingly, artfully presented, the food was absolutely SPECTACULAR!! Like melt in your mouth, out of this world delicious. Only minor thing was that the beds were not the most comfortable, but still decent. Prices were reasonable considering the hotel and service was professional and friendly for the most. We will most definitely be staying here on our next visit.

    « Small Boutique Hotel »

I found this hotel very conveniently placed near the main bus and train terminal. I landed in Venice from MILAN by train. The hotel is at a walking distance from the Rail Terminal. A small hotel by the canal with basic amenities. I do not find the tariff of Euro 168 plus taxes justifying its stature. Moreover, i felt that Venice is a costly place being a star tourist attraction. Nevertheless, i would like to exercise better option for stay next time. Breakfast was also average. My room also did not meet my expectations in respect of its size and amenities.

« Best location in Venice »

We've been to Venice before and always tried to stay around the main sights. What a mistake. This hotel is close to P Roma and the cruise terminal so is really convenient to arrival and leaving without having to mess about on the water with luggage. Venice is such a small city to walk around you can get to all the sights really easily too. Apart from a great location, the hotel is fabulously clean and well run. Friendly reception staff who even let us leave luggage with them for a few hours when we returned to Venice after a cruise having stayed there the week before! Breakfast was good. Fresh and with a good choice. No queuing either when we went at 07.45. All in all a great hotel - you get what you pay for

    « Wonderful hotel! »

We enjoyed our 5 nights of stay at Hotel Opimpia and agreed with most of the positive comments made by the other travelers. I only have a couple of things to add: The city map received from the front desk was short on details, even with very few street names on it. But the 4 suggested walking itineraries between Piazzale Roma and Piazza San Marco were helpful. We walked all of them with great interest. If you need to do laundry and do not intend to use the hotel's service there is a dry cleaning and laundry store around the corner from the hotel. The store's name is called Tre Ponti and it provides drop-off service.

    « Excellent »

I agree with Corey J's review. This is an excellent hotel in all ways but especially for cruisers. The staff is excellent: our bags were lost by the airlines; the hotel staff did its best to help retrieve them. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Our room, 205, was canal side, quiet at night, and very spacious (junior suite). This is our third visit to Venice. Thus our third hotel. Our favorite remains La Calcina, but for location/proximity to transportation, Olimpia is our choice. Restaurants in the area are good. We especially like Las Ramblas, a block from the hotel. (Not sure why this restaurant received so many bad ratings. Perhaps things have changed in a year.)

    5
    « Great Hotel »

Within walking distance of train station, restaurants nearby, staff made great restaurant recommendations, helpful with booking water taxi tour. Room was very spacious, elegant and clean. The café in hotel had a terrific breakfast. We had a light lunch there one day and it was excellent. Would stay there again.

    « First trip abroad »

This was the first time we went to Europe and booked Hotel Olimpia for 3 nights on a friends advice. Loved the room, the garden and the breakfast. The staff was great and very accommodating. If we ever go back to Venice I'll be staying there again.

    5
« Convenience to all forms of Transportation »

Nice rooms, good service and the convience of an excellent transportation system to get to all of Venice and surrounding areas. Cafe is outside on the canal. Cheaper if you buy a total breakfast in the hotel. Coffee is not cheap.

« Great Location, very nice spot »

If you're looking for a hotel to stay in before you board a cruise ship, this is the absolute best choice. It is a short walking distance from the people mover, but out of the way just enough to be quiet. We stayed here for a night on our honeymoon before boarding our cruise the next day. The room we stayed in was very nice, clean, and other than the shower not working (the hand-held sprayer worked fine), we had no issues. I don't even remember mentioning it was our honeymoon, but the hotel sent up a bottle of champagne for us complimentry, which was a very nice touch. We faced the rear of the hotel, which was very quiet with little noise throughout the night, even with the window open. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was exactly what you would expect from a European hotel, no surprises. The free wifi was excellent quality, which is rare amongst hotels I've stayed in, so that was a pleasant surprise. We will gladly stay there again if we ever cruise out of Venice again, and will definitely recommend to our family and friends as well.

« Very convient hotel to cruise terminal »

Nice hotel. We selected for its convenience to the bus terminal and cruise terminal. Nice garden to have an after noon glass of wine, but a 5 Eur glass of wine is very skimpy-maybe three oz. Better by at the bistro next door and sit by the canal.

    « Location! Location! Location! »

This was our second visit in as many years to both beautiful Venice and what my wife and I consider to be one of the best hotels to stay in while in Venice. We stayed 3 nights prior to our cruise. As the title of this review suggests, the hotel's location is perfect. Located in Piazzele Roma, it is close to the cruise port via the People Mover, walking distance to St. Mark's, Rialto Bridge, gondolas, many, many restaurants. I could go on and on. The hotel, while quite ordinary looking from the outside, is extremely comfortable once you enter the front door. The staff greet you warmly, and on this visit they even remembered us from our previous visit. I had requested the same room and it was ready and waiting for us on our arrival. When the porter/waiter, Mazharal came to take our luggage to the room, his mouth dropped and he ran to us, hugged my wife and shook my hand as he also remembered us. How many people would the staff see in a year, and yet remember us? Robert at the front desk also remembered, and sent a bottle of Prosecco to our room. Another very nice touch that was appreciated. Marco the bartender also gave great service when we needed a nightcap. A buffet breakfast is included in the room rate and it is quite extensive. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, cereal, cold cuts, muffins, juice, pastries, coffee, fruit, cheese, yogurt and more. In our view you won't find a finer place to stay in Venice!!

    5
« Close to all transportation and cruise port »

People make the difference throughout all issues of rooms, food, cleanliness, location, etc. Its the people - Gloria [front desk] couldn't be nicer she made a point to always say hello and ask what she could do to help. The lady handling morning breakfast - fantastic, friendly engaging in conversation always busy doing more than any other, the middle eastern gentleman not so much say hello he says nothing ask fro something he disappears. As for location if you ar taking a cruise very close 3 - 4 minute total walk from the bus from Piazza Roma [main station from airport]. People move to cruise terminal at Piazza Roma [1.5 euro/pp] , water bus to San Marco square [ at Piazza Roma [7.50 euro/pp]. And this is all within a 3-4 minute walk and only over 1 bridge. I recommend this as a place to stay, especially fro cruises and access to transportation.

    3
    « Nice clean hotel. »

My title sums up the hotel. If I could I would have given a 3 1/2 because of the breakfast and service there. We found the room too hot and couldn't leave the windows open at night since the mosquitos were bite and I react terribly with them as there are no screens in the windows. The bed was not very comfortable you could hear the springs in the one we had. The bathroom was a good size and enough towels but once in the shower the water would change between cold and hot making for a very quick shower and leaks all over the floor. We chose it because of its closeness to the cruise ships but now knowing the area probably would try somewhere else.

    5
« Nice hotel for post cruise stay »

Hotel is next to Polazzo Roma with only one bridge to cross. Had room 208 overlooking the canal. Nice room and bath. Elevator only goes up one floor and then must take a flight of stairs up to room. OK for us but bellman had to handle several large bags. Left bags at 8:30 am after leaving ship and they were in the room on our return. Porters to help with bags to/from hotel are available in the square across from the hotel.

    4
« Nice hotel close to the train station and cruise port. »

We chose this hotel based on other reviews and because we were coming off a cruise and would be travelling on by train and we wanted a hotel mid city but close to the port and train. The staff were very friendly and the hotel nice and clean. The room had a sitting room attached, no bath only a shower. We took the people walker from the cruise terminal to Roma Square and then walked to the hotel and it was an 8 to 10 minute walk. It was also a 10 minute walk to the train station. Our rate included wifi and breakfast. Breakfast was a buffet. There is a lovely outside sitting area at the back of the hotel.

    5
« Great hotel for cruise ship passengers »

We booked this hotel because it was within walking distance of the cruise ship and was right next to Piazza Romana (bus terminal) and the Grand Canal. What surprised us was that not only was it convenient, it actually was a nice hotel. We only stayed one night. It was perfect as we arrived by cruise ship and left by bus to the airport the next morning. Others that we met on the boat were staying at hotels closer to the center of town and they spent a significant amount of time and money getting to and from their hotels. We did not spend much time or money getting to or from our hotel.

« Wonderful hotel and staff »

How did we get so lucky with this hotel! It was fantastic. From the time we walked in Robert made everything so easy and we felt very welcomed. The staff, I think his name was Islam, took charge of our bags and deliver them to our rooms. He showed us everything in the room with such pride. You knew he loved his job. The room was spotless and the bed and linens were heavenly. Marco, the bartender, made us a wonderful drink. The breakfast was wonderful and a great way to start the day. Would love to stay here again one day.

« Perfect location and fantastic staff »

Location: The hotel is, in my opinion, in the perfect location. Only two min walk from Roma Square where you can get bus/train links in and out of city and 5 min walk to the Vaporetta transport to the other side of Venice and the islands. Also lots of water taxis within walking distance. It is 20 min walk to Rialto Bridge which is a great walk to see things and about 30 mins to Guggenheim museum (worth going to) and 40 mins to St Marks Square. About 10/15 mins walk from the hotel there is a great street of bars and restaurants. The Hotel: Staff are incredibly helpful and arranged our taxi to and from airport and helped with directions and trips. Breakfast is awesome, literally everything you might want and only €5. Marco in the bar from 4pm is so lovely and looks after you (you get nibbles with your drinks) and there is a canal to overlook or the beautiful gardens. Our room overlooked the garden and was newly refurbished and clean. Beds comfy and shower fantastic. Would stay there again for sure!!

« Great location! Great Staff »

This was our first stay here. We were family & friends on a 3 week trip to Italy which began here in Venice. We took the bus from the airport to Venice and it left us off with a short walk but quite adventurous to our hotel. We needed to cross a few stair bridges (literally) to get to the front door, and this can be difficult when you have heavy luggage. You can see the hotel sign but getting to it can be tricky. We made it! Andrea the front desk person was so kind and helpful to all nine of us. He took our luggage because rooms were not ready yet SD it was only about 11:00am. The rooms were available & staff moved all our luggage to the room. Rooms are nice, average size and clean. Our room overlooked the canal. They have a wonderful breakfast which was part of our room rate. All kinds of pastries, hot items cheese meats fruit. Breakfast room is bright & cheery with nice decor. They have outside seating which is great for lunch drinks & just hanging out! Marco the afternoon evening bartender was super & slot of fun! Great service drinks & food. He does it all! The service in all aspects is excellent. The vaporetto stop to take you all around Venice is 5 min away. What a great place to stay. Also by staying here it forces you to the backstreets of Venice where you est ,& shop with locals for a much better price than the tourist areas. I would stay here again if I ever come back. We spent three nights here & really enjoyed our evenings on the canal. And did I also tell you that Andrea & Marco are both very easy on your eyes!! Great value for the price.

Perfect place to stay in Venice. Very close to Piazale Roma the bus/car plaza and the Cruise Ship docks. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and spoke English, but appreciated your Italian phases as well. Read other reviews as well. The have a superior breakfast food and room with a great selection of items. See the photos. This will be our Venice hotel from now on. We were 3 traveler friends 30, 60 and 80. The 3 triple room worked well with a twin Murphy style bed.

    « Surprisingly amazing »

When a hotel ticks off all you'd want from a hotel, and exceeds your expectations, it deserves the most pompous boasting. Hotel Olympia was chosen for its proximity to the train station, boat station and bus station (all are within 5 minutes of walking). But we were mighty surprised by their service. As we reached, we requested for an advance breakfast because we were leaving the next morning too early to have breakfast. And they happily obliged. Breakfast is great there. There is a large beautiful garden in the backyard ideal for warming under the sun in a wintry Venetian day. The rooms are basically mini suites, as the en suite room is quite large, replete with a sofa, table, flatscreen tv and lot of space to keep your luggage. The bathroom is large as well, brimming with all basic necessities. The bedroom is beautiful with classic, ornamental Venetian decor. One couldn't ask for more staying in this kind of hotel. They offer 2 glasses of complimentary Preseccos, or you may choose to have water instead. The highlight of the hotel is that the windows of both rooms open to a canal, from where you can watch gondolas passing away. Beyond the canal is a square that is kind of busy, thus great to just sit around and watch people and the typical Venetian day to day affair. Hotel Olympia reaffirmed the Venetian romance, in its own sweet way, brings to fore the Italian hospitality and their sweet gestures.

« Delightful and well-located hotel in Venice, Italy »

The Best Western Olimpia is an excellent choice for a stay in Venice. It is conveniently located very close to all modes of transportation, as well as being close to the cruise port. The hotel is charmingly decorated and very clean. The mattress on our bed was very comfortable. The delicious breakfast is one of the best I have eaten, with much variety and many choices. The entire hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.

« First time in Venice »

The hotel was booked through my parents as part of our Italian holiday. On arrival and first impressions of the hotel really pleased me. My young daughter and I were given A7 which has a front view(bus station etc). The room itself was more than efficient for us and its decor was rather beautiful and grand. The first night after dinner and exploring, young Thomas on reception had noticed it was my birthday and arranged a lovely bottle of Prosecco for us to enjoy! The hotel itself was very handy and quite central for exploring. We used the map supplied and followed the easy yellow signs for the sights. The breakfast room was well supplied and the staff were very helpful.

« Beautiful hotel and great service »

This hotel was really close to the train station - it took like 10 minutes to walk from there. It's also really easy to walk everywhere in Venice from this hotel. I loved the location. It was also really, really pretty on the inside! The decor was nice. And the staff was incredibly nice. They gave us tips on where to go and put together a map for us. On our last day we had to go to the airport at like 5am, and they knew we were checking out at that hour, so when we went to check out they had packed us breakfast to take to the airport with us! I had no complaints about this hotel. They also had a welcome champagne ready for us when we arrived. I highly recommend it!

    « Great hotel! »

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel following a Viking Ocean cruise which terminated in Venice. We chose this hotel from the internet based on its location and some very positive reviews. Re the location, it was only minutes from the cruise ship dock and the Piazalle Roma, where one could catch a bus to the airport, a train or other land transport to wherever and water transport into Venice. Re the latter, we used that means only once, a complementry water taxi to Murano which picked us up right at the hotel and the vaporetto service back. The rest of our 4 day stay in Venice, we travelled by foot, getting a bit lost on a couple of occasions but for the most part, finding our way around with little difficulty. As for the Hotel Olimpia, it was very clean and comfortable. Ourroom was spacious and just off a lovely garden area in the back where we often relaxed and ate our breakfast most mornings. The breakfast was wonderful and much more than we expected with fruit juices and Proseco if one wanted to add it to their juice, fresh fruit, cold meats, cheeses, eggs , sausages and bacon, a variety of cereals and pastries, yoguts, acoffee machine that offered various brews. The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and helpful and had no problem conversing in English. Before we arrived in Venice and while on our cruise we corresponed with Gloria on how to get from the cruise dock. Since it appeared to be only minutes to the hotel, we thought we would walk there. Gloria recommended we hop on the people mover to the first at stop at Piazalle Roma and walk the short distance from there to the hotel. That proved to be a good suggestion as access from the dock to thoroughfares on which one could walk was not readily apparent. In addition to its close proximity to thevarious means of transport, there were several nice restaurants closeby, a co-op where we were able to buy, cheese, fresh fruit and wine, an ATM, etc. We would highly recommend the Hotel Olimpia to anyone visiting Venice. BTW, the rates are quite reasonable a complementry glass of Proseco upon arrival and a 10% discount in the hotel bar.

    « our second time »

This is the second time we have used this hotel. As before, we were delighted with every aspect of it. The staff are lovely, especially the two young men who were on duty the day we arrived. So helpful and friendly. The young man at the reception desk ( I am so sorry I don't know his name) noticed it was my stepdaughters birthday that day, and arranged for a bottle of prosecco in her room. What a lovely gesture. Our rooms were large , and traditionally furnished, with a large double bed. I think the rooms are a mixture of sizes, we noticed this from the open doors as we passed. Breakfast is very good, with plenty to choose from, hot or cold. Breakfast room can be a bit cramped when it is busy, but it was no big deal. The garden area is lovely, but it was a bit too cool to sit out for long, while we were there. The hotel is in a great position for seeing the sights. It is handy for the water bus, and train station, for anyone wanting to go further afield. There are lots of nice restaurants in the area, and if you walk past the railway station, there is a lovely bustling area with shops, and eateries. The walk to San Marco is easy if you follow the yellow signs. Its an interesting walk with lots to see on the way. Back to the hotel review...I would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

« Lovely romantic hotel at a reasonable price »

Stayed here for one night and was pleasantly surprised. It is located 5 minutes walk from the train station abs also very close to the port. You walk in and are greeted with a friendly smile with a porter to take you your luggage to your room. The offer other services as well like tours which we didn't get a chance to utilise. The rooms were gorgeously decorated and what surprised me most was when I looked out the windows and they have an absolutely beautiful garden. If only it was summer, we would've had breakfast there instead of inside. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic! A wide variety was available from traditional sweet pastries, and the usual Western breakfast this but they also had Mackerel fillets, boiled eggs drizzled with olive oil, caprese salad, Lots of different cheeses and meats and of course PROSECCO!! Will definitely be back for our next trip!

    « Fantastic »

This hotel ticks all of the boxes, from it's location near the bus station, to it's wonderful and clean rooms (overlooking either the canal or the garden), breakfast, lovely garden, staff and most of all Robert on reception (a Welshman working I n Venice - who would have expected that!!)- what an excellent guy, knowledgeable, funny and nothing too much for him. The only negative I can think of is the low water pressure which makes the shower a little weak - a very minor niggle on what was a wonderful stay.

« Good VFM, good location for airport bus, trains and waterbuses. V clean, tidy and greta breakfasts - highly recommended »

Situated about 5 mins from the bus and train stations with just a few steps to negotiate, this BW hotel is excellent VFM when compared with others. The staff are delightful, the hotel is very clean and the breakfast is just the job with a great selection of fruit, pastries, cold meats, cheeses, salmon and some hot choices, it is certainly sufficient to set you up for the day. Located 5 mins from a major waterbus terminal to either the Grand Canal, St Marks Square or Murano the location, price , staff and food should make this a realistic contender for all stays in Venice. We stayed in 2 superior rooms which were well proportioned with nice shower rooms, safes and good sized and comfortable beds. The décor was very Venetian!. The small and well kept garden was a delight too especially in the sunshine and being able to use the hotel sunbeds! All in all a great stay and big thank you to Robert G who taught me a little more Italian each day.

    « 3 night city break »

an unpretentious traditional 5star hotel which overlooks the Rio Dei Tolentini Canal (and is ideally situated near to the bus station which is a 40 minute ride to Treviso Airport) The hotel has elegant venitican style rooms which feature 18th century inspired furnishings, even the bathroom the rooms all have mini bars, satellite tv, free Wi-Fi, and a safe ( tea and coffee facilities are also available if you ask at recption) My stay was absolutely wonderful room was spotless, towels and bed linens changed daily. Full breakfast available, english, continental, vegetarian, cereals, meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurts, and fruit juices, also chilled prosecco (for a bucks fizz!!!) hot drinks coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc. also a cocktail lounge and beautiful gardens The highlight of my stay in the hotel was all the stay especially Robert on reception who was a mind of local information, he had my sense of humour and we got along swimmingly (and we did have some banter too!!!) also the cocktail barman Marco was also great to chat to, all the staff were all helpful, friendly and a credit to Best Western as it made my stay the best hotel stay ever !!! All the staff were helpful, friendly and marvelous and very helpful in helping us find good restaurants. i had agrat

    « Great hotel »

Central location close to public transport network. Room was clear, comfortable and quiet. Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful excellent breakfast Basic Italian food available in evening but nothing special

    5
« Very helpful and convenience »

We arrived from the airport via the bus and only had to cross 2 bridges to arrive at our hotel. We were greaten with smiles and quickly unpacked and headed to see the town. The location was perfect for shopping and dining. The breakfast was included and was excellent Italian breakfast. I would stay here again

    « Good stay! »

Nice staff, clean rooms, special generous breakfast. Centrally located, no complains, really recommended! The only negative side is that sense to pay for our Wi-Fi. We found the concierge recommendations very helpful especially for dining!

    « My 50th Birthday in Venice »

We both enjoyed our weekend break at the Hotel Olimpia. All of the staff were friendly and Helpful.Robert who worked on the reception was helpful and possessed a great sense of humour, hilarious at times "Thanks for the alcohol free chocolates on my Birthday". The room was spotlessly clean with a lovely view of the canal and the gondolas. I would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

    5
« Beautiful hotel with excellent location »

I would stay there a thousand times, with excellent location, walking distance from the train and bus stations its the place to stay. Super nice staff who made our stay better than ever. Very nice rooms, and if the breakfast is not included in your rate, don't worry about it, because it's 5 euros per person for a nice buffet. Loved everything about this place

    5
    « A Real Gem of Venice »

The Hotel Olimpia was within eyesight of the Piazzale Roma when we arrived on the "People Mover" after a cruise. The staff was extremely helpful, professional, and spoke excellent English. Our room was a delight. Its décor made us feel like we were really in Venice. The breakfast was far and above what we normally get at other hotels. Location, location, location -- this is the place to stay. We were within five minutes of the water bus station which took us anywhere we wanted to go. What a great little hotel.

    5
« As good as it gets in Venice »

Balancing price with location and quality, stay here. Best Western in Italy have an excellent reputation. This is a good example. Rooms are well appointed. Modern and great beds. Breakfast excellent. Rooms with garden view a must. So quiet, yet bang in the middle of everything. Can't find fault with this place. Have been here 4 nights and will stay again.

    4
« Best Location for airport and train access in Venice! »

We travelled by bus from the airport and what a delight to get off the bus and see our hotel name just across one bridge! As we were travelling onwards by train, the staff suggested and arranged a water taxi to bring our bags the short distance to the stataion. The service from all the staff was consistently superb as each staff member was helpful, informative and pleasant. We had absolutely NO complaints and all eight members of our group had no hesitation in saying "we would return".

    5
« Easy access to Hotel from Train Station. »

This hotel was perfect for our quick stay. Located within minutes of the translation, it was easy access. Property was nicely done and room size with large and very comfortable. Our room was 103, which was above a restaurant/bar and while at one point we did hear noise from the establishment, once mentioned to management, they took care of it. Was very impressed. Breakfast was good with plenty of selections.

« Location and staff excellent »

First visit to Venice with a group of friends, the location of the hotel is great for access to bus, train and airport. We only had to cross a bridge to get to the hotel and were not struggling through crowds and across canals with bags which we witnessed other visitors trying to manage. The hotel is lovely, breakfast also, and staff so helpful and good humoured. I would go back, and intend to do so as soon as possible.

    3
« ok hotel but good location »

The hotel is located off of Piazzale Roma which is just one stop past the main train station. The room had canal views which was nice and we could also see the Piazzale. Breakfast was average. The staff was hot and cold. Some people were very friendly while others acted like you didn't exist. The hotel itself could have done for a renovation (although I think they were in the process when we were there).

    5
« Excellent location, helpful staff »

The Hotel Olimpia was quite the surprise. We chose it for the location, close to Piazzale Roma with easy access to the airport, water taxis, and cruise ships and away from the most touristic area. The staff at the desk, particularly Roberto and Gloria, were so helpful, recommending nearby restaurants which were excellent and giving directions to a concert that we had booked ahead of time. Our room was about the typical size for a European hotel and had a renovated and very clean bathroom. Great options for breakfast. Beautiful garden in the back. Would return on the next trip to Venice.

    4
    « Great hotel »

We enjoyed this hotel. We were able to sleep so good. Very near to the bus station to the airport, water bus station. The room was a bit dusty. Very stylish and clean. Breakfast is good with a lot of food to choose. Will recommend

    3
« Charming, economical but a bit faded »

Love the staff, especially the head waitress at breakfast. Love the peaceful garden and its friendly cat. Room was small, with no coffee maker. Location is convenient to the train and bus station as well as the water busses (vaporetti). And not "seedy". Breakfast was fine, but crowded. Nice coffees and Italian pastries. The room also was not quite there-- a bit faded, with a broken shower door and walls in need of a fresh coat of paint. The price seemed a lot for what it was but relative to other choices in Venice I believe it was reasonable. A good budget choice.

    2
« Utility Only because of Airport »

Drab breakfast (by italian and chain hotel standards), bad wi-fi (which I really needed for work), useful location to airport, only stay here for work, is a mood killer in other respects. reception friendly Was upgraded to a bigger room but it was just two rooms connected by a door, not a proper suite - furniture and flooring an eyesore. But clean enough and served its purpose.

« The "Best" hotel in Venice!! »

Stayed here with family for 3 nights and really pleased that we picked this hotel. Located in Santa Croce, this is a quieter area of Venice but within walking distance to most key land marks. On arrival we we greeted by the pleasant receptionist and she gave us a map on where to go, transport etc which we found very helpful given it was our first time! Our room was 307, located on the 1st Floor tucked away at the top and really impressed! It was clean, airy and comfortable. Breakfast was on another level! They had everything on offer - Pastries ,cereal, toast, fruit, cheeses, meat, yogurts, pizza and prosecco...needless to say I treated myself to a glass why not! There was an outdoor garden which is great to eat breakfast outdoors if you have nice weather....we were fortunate enough. I can't offer many tips but can highly recommend this stunning hotel. Special shout out to Robert the Welsh man on reception....you were a pleasure to deal with!

    3
    « Great Breakfast »

The staff was great and the bed was comfortable. The room was nice but larger travelers beware the show is is very small and you may not fit. Inquire prior to booking or at check-in. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful. IT is a quick walk from the train station so no need to board a vaporetto upon arrival. A stop is close by when you venture out.

    4
« Quaint hotel at a great location »

One of the best hotels at the entry to Venice that is especially convenient if you are arriving by road from the airport and haven't taken a water taxi or even if you are coming in via rail, this is right off the main Piazzale Roma center. Great value and a fresh and bountiful free breakfast everyday will let you rejuvinate and walk or take a water taxi into the city of Venice for your stay. Rooms are average sized but comfortable, service is nice and attentive.

« Five star staff and breakfast. Two star rooms. »

Very convenient location. Charming and helpful staff. But small, claustrophobic rooms without screens to defeat the ubiquitous mosquitoes. Anyone over 6 feet would bump their head on the ceiling. Add screens to the windows and I would happily return. Feeble Wi-Fi.

  • 4
« 6 star breakfast, mosquitoes a problem at night. »

Stayed 4 nights in mid march. Would recommend it. Great location just across from the bus station. Breakfast was great. Room service food and bar food was reasonably priced, tasty and delivered hot. Staff were beyond helpful. Beds very comfortable. However. Stayed in March when air conditioning was not turned on. Our room, 103, was hot and stuffy and because we had to keep the windows open fully open at night full of mosquitoes. No screens on windows. Would fully recommend this hotel if they could fix this problem! Jim.

    « Beautiful »

Lovely Hotel, couldn't fault it at all but the staff really made our time special. The hotel is in a great location just by the train and bus station and it is very clean. Robert was really helpful and gave us lots of tips where to go and where to avoid, it was a real pleasure to meet him. Would definitely stay here again!

    « A four star experience. »

This three star hotel felt like a four star to us. Location is excellent, far from the hordes in the area around St. Mark's but close to the train station, shops and restaurants. The Desoduro where the hotel is located, feels more open and quiet than busy St. Mark's Although there is a steady stream of people on the sidewalk to the train station several doors down from the hotel, Olimpia itself is very quiet. A quick walk over a bridge takes you to numerous restaurants and the Grand Canal. At the front of the hotel is a small canal. If the water is low, a water taxi can pull up directly in front. Although we had to dock on the other side of a bridge, one of the porters from the hotel carried our bags over. The hotel isn't large but feels light and airy. At the back of the hotel, is a lovely garden leading to an outbuilding where our room was located. The room was small but pretty, decorated in a typical ornate Venetian style. The bathroom, however, was large with a walk-in shower with a detachable shower head. Our room was on the ground floor and I would recommend a higher floor. The outbuilding backed onto a wide walkway. Though it wasn't busy and the window was protected by bars, we didn't feel comfortable leaving the shutters open to let in the breeze. The continental breakfast was excellent, as seems typical of good Italian hotels - sweets, delicious deli meats, breads, cheeses etc. If we ever have the good luck to return to wonderful Venice, we will stay here.

« Best Hotel On Our Trip »

After 17 days in Italy, I would rate this as my favorite hotel. It is easy to find near the bus zone. The lobby is beautiful. Our room was gorgeous. It had everything you would expect from a nice hotel. All of the front desk staff were excellent - especially Robert. He was funny, helpful and a great story teller. I wish he would have been around when we checked out. Also the breakfast and views were good. Well worth the price!

    « Birthday weekend »

What a really nice hotel. Special mention must go to the night receptionist Robert, who was the most helpful person you could wish for. He was always happy to advise/listen!! His recommendations for local restaurants was superb. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and their breakfast is the best way to start the day. It's closeness to the bus station (2 minute walk/one bridge) means you can quickly be out exploring. We will return, an ideal base for your holidays due to Ideal location!

« Such a good hotel, it deserves a gold medal! »

What a great hotel - fantastic staff, lovely rooms, great location and a very good breakfast to start the day. We so enjoyed our stay - and all the staff were very helpful and professional, Robert on the front desk, in particular, being a warm and welcoming presence. This hotel has very high standards throughout, from cleanliness to staff who are only too happy to help. I definitely recommend it.

    « Second visit »

This was our second visit to Best Western Olimpia. It met our expectations the same as the first time. There were several of the staff still working there and remembered us from our previous visit. Our room this time was in the annexe which was really nice.Breakfast was plentiful and a good choice to set you up for the day. Robert on reception still as cheerful and helpful as ever. He has a brilliant personality and always brings a smile to your face. Keep up the good work one wonderful hotel with great staff.

« Lovely hotel with a great staff »

We throughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The hotel is very charming and well located as you can walk to the train station as well as buses. It's also surrounded by many good restaurants. The staff was extremely warm, attentive and very helpful in mailing my shoes I left behind onto my next hotel. They stayed in constant contact with me until I received them. I was quite impressed. We truly enjoyed Robert who recommended great restaurants and his great sense of humor. The staff in the bar were most accommodating. I would stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

« Great hotel great location »

I really enjoyed my time at the BW. The staff are all professional and couldn't do enough to help. Robert was a great help with his witty humor and great recommendation really made for a great stay. The room was very comfortable and well appointed with decoration from the area. I would recommend the hotel to all. Great gem of a hotel. Thank you Robert for your great advice and fun spirit. A room with a view.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

This hotel is fantastic. We stayed in March 2016 for four nights. The rooms were really superb and the staff very good, especially Robert at reception. He is professional, friendly and a real asset to the hotel. The breakfast is self service buffet and is pretty good...even Prosecco available should you want to start early !

This hotel is outstanding. Should be 4 star. All the staff are excellent. Everyone is very polite. Breakfast is delicious. Room and bathroom were lovely. Shower is powerful and big. Great location. We stayed in room 112 which looks out on to the canal.

    « Stay here! »

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Beautiful and unique with terrific service. Don't let the Best Western name deter you. When I think of Best Western, I honestly think of lower level and was hesitant to stay here for almost 300 euro per night, but I was desperate and wanted to be near the train station w all our luggage. So glad to be desperate! Right on a smaller canal and close to bus and train. Glad not to be near noise of big squares but a short walk away. BEAUTIFUL hotel and so uniquely decorated. We were in a suite that allowed our 20 yo daughter to have her own space. Free glass of prosecco on arrival. They loaned us US adapter and brought coffee pot etc to our room on request. Unreal breakfast for only 5 euro! Best of all - the staff!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    5
    « Very good value »

The staff was great. Robert at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. The bellmen were pleasant and attentive. The rooms were very clean. I would recommend and would definitely stay again. By far the best Best Western I have ever stayed in. The staff really go out of their way to help. By far the best service we received during our 10 day visit.

We loved our stay there! The rooms were clean, very nice, and comfortable. We had a perfect backyard view. The staff was amazing. It was in the perfect location for enjoying the entire area! Ristorante recommended was really yummy!

    « Wonderful Hotel Olimpia »

We have just spent 2 nights at the hotel, March 6th and 7th and I cannot commend it enough. We arrived and were greeted by attentive, professional staff who showed us two different rooms and offered the option of either. The professionalism, attention to detail and cleanliness rated as some of the best I have experienced, even at far higher prices. The hotel along with its sister hotel, Arleccino are superbly located a short distance from the train station and offer an easy walk to all Venice attractions. I could go on about the breakfast, garden etc but would urge you to try for yourself.

    5
« Great location, and a decent price »

We arrived at Piazza Roma late, in the dark, and utterly baffled by the map we'd got from the airport. Luckily, the hotel is easy to find (even in the dark), and well placed for getting around Venice, as it's next to the main transport area for rail, gondolas and water taxis. The chap at the front desk (Robert) was very helpful indeed, and full of really useful information. Our room was clean, and had a nice bathroom, if a little small, but then, all hotel rooms in Venice are a bit cramped. We'd definitely stay here again.

    5
« As it was hoped to be....and more! Thank You to all colleagues at OLIMPIA »

The welcome from Robert was superb. It felt like we were returning friends, not strangers. Such an Asset to your hotel, you should be proud! The room was something else, and the fact that it was at the top of the house with a skylight above the bed was superb! What a touch.! Room warm, clean and very well presented. Asked for tea/coffee making facilities, and within 5 minutes it was there..... Same with iron and ironing board!!!!! TOP SERVICE!! Breakfast Enough meat cheese, bacon, tiny sausage/lardons eggs and the usual continental stuff to satisfy anyone. You won't complain. Prossecco for breakfast, with smoked Salmon..... Dare we? Well....! .. No-one else drank it, but us.... But what a luxury... It wasn't for the alcohol, it was for the experience!! And that's what it was... A luxury. A taste of pure class, just like the hotel. Great service, clean ( absolutely ) and efficient colleagues, ALL working together. Superb location; walkable (700m) with two 23kg cases from the train station, and less from the bus station, it's a cracking location. Luggage storage room was safe. On arrival we witnessed a receipt given for the number of bags deposited by a guest, , and we were asked for the paperwork when we collected ours to ensure we collected the right bags ( a greatly re-assuring process). Young girl who checked us out was very efficient, explained bill, took the left luggage, and also said "good morning" on our way in and out of the breakfast room, or reception area was representative of the whole experience. Thanks again Robert for the tissue paper for the "gifts". ..It saved them "clunking") ! Not asked for, not even thought about.......... But he just set off and got it, and then wrapped our gifts up.......what a touch..... Shows experience, and great service... (Please don't expect him to do this as a regular service, it was a ONE OFF!!).. A "MAGIC MOMENT" for me and my wife regarding service standards. Bar on the "island" opposite the breakfast window is a good find for a swift aperitif..... Lovely lad behind the bar... And the prices were good. (Alpero/Prossecco Spritz is "Bang on" Ask Robert for any local info you need. He is absolutely worth his weight in gold. His Tips and info on where to eat/how to travel/local knowledge are given with absolute confidence, ( we followed his recommendation, and weren't ripped off, and ate at his recommended place 3 times during our 4 day stay...so you can trust what he says). We wanted reasonable prices, and good food, not "rip off" and he provided it..... And if you wanted " top notch..SPECIAL" he would no doubt be trusted to direct you to what you asked for too. Room, Location, service and Breakfast could not have been better. Tip. Murano is cold in winter...... It's open, not as compact as Venice, not as narrow streets, .... Wrap up... Also.... Find "the Boatyard" stop off and get crostini' and Alpero/Prossecco at the deli opposite the boatyard.... SUPERB!! And say "Good morning/afternoon to Robert when you come in the hotel............or he gets grumpy ! Hope you get to Hereford Sainsburys again soon Xxx from Tracey and Julian. That's blown it now... Good review, and ....... It'll be too expensive next year !!

« Best western- best value »

What a fantastic hotel. The rooms are amazing as well as comfortable and functional. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice in wonderfully light and beautifully decorated rooms with a choice to sit indoors or outside on the canal front or well kept gardens. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much for them and Robert in particular is an asset to the hotel, his local knowledge and friendly, witty manner is most welcoming. We highly recommend a stay here for the experience of the hotel and location to bus terminal and train station being within a short walking distance.

    « Wonderful »

Booked this hotel with my husband to celebrate my 27th birthday. To start the hotel was soooooo easy to find, being right by Piazzale Roma. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but once inside it's full of venetian charm... I feel like redecorating my entire house since visiting Venice. Staff greeted us warmly and although we were about 5 hours before check in they agreed to have our room ready early and store our bags in the mean while. Without even having to ask they gave us a map and showed us the easiest way to get to St Marks Square. Breakfast was great for 5 euros per day per person... Having paid almost this much for just a coffee in certain shops it feels like a real bargain and there's sufficient choice for a couple of days worth of breakfast. The room was an excellent size so that we didn't feel cramped and it was again very well decorated... loved the shower! If I could pick one negative about the hotel (and this is really from racking my brains) it would be that the hair dryer in the bathroom isn't very powerful... it wasn't an issue though as it was adequate. I loved being able to open the shuttered windows each morning to see the canal too. It made me appreciate where I was all the more. On the morning of my birthday staff wished me happy birthday and on my return to the hotel on the evening there was a lovely bottle of prossecco on ice waiting for me in my room. It was very much appreciated and made me feel like a really valued customer. I know some people may wish to be closer to the tourist attractions but I'd really recommend otherwise... to be so close to a water bus, the main traffic hub and a 30 minute walk from St Marks was honestly perfect... it meant we were able to find some of the better restaurants that were off the beaten track a bit as well as some lovely wine bars. I loved the daily walks to some of the more popular areas. I'll stop now before I bore you with any further details but obviously would 100% recommend you stay at the Olympia on your upcoming trips to Venice!

    « Nice Hotel/Good location »

Robert greeted us when we arrived and was wonderful. The room was quaint on the 4th floor. The hotel is so close to the train station and a water bus away from all the main attractions. We did not purchase the breakfast with our room but did eat there for 5 € and was pleasantly surprised. All in all, a great find!!

    « Very Good Hotel »

We have just come back from a five night stay here. The hotel is perfectly situated being easily accessible from the Paizzale Roma, the bus terminus, so you don't have to take suitcases too far! Easy access to the Vaporetti stops too. Although it appears at one end of Venice it doesn't take long to walk to places or travel via the Vaporetti. The rooms are lovely with good bathrooms. You can ask for tea and coffee making facilities too. All the staff are really warm and helpful and respond very quickly. Breakfasts are excellent with a good variety. I would go back to this hotel and definitely recommend it.

So close to parking right on the canal. Clean big room. Bathroom was good size as well. Caught the last two nights of Carnaval. Cute old charming buildings everything you can easily walk to and if you want to go a bit faster you can use a water taxi. Breakfast had a good selection. Love that most the hotels in Europe have their own expresso machines that are self serve. The building was Under some repairs while we were there... I would have thought they would have taken a siesta like everyone else but didn't seem to the two nights we stayed.

I don't like writing badly about hotels as I work for the Radisson and know all the hard work that is done npby any hotel staff . To start with the location is very handy just one bridge over from the bus station . The breakfast is very good by Italian standards , the staff where friendly and the rooms are nicely oppointed and and in a good state , although I did see cobwebs in one ceiling corner and found the beds on the hard side. The problem I have is regarding room 1A don't stay there or 1B if your light sleeper . Inbetween those rooms there is another room with no number ! . There was loud music coming from this room 12pm came and passed and decided i had enough knocking on the door resulted in no answer .so I called the reception who then immediately called that room , I know this as I could her the phone ringing .There was someone leaving or coming shortly after but the music continued untill 1.30 am . The next morning the reception told me I there was no music and me and my partner must of heard the wind ! They said a old Japanese lady was in the rom next door ,I assume they meant 1B as you can't put actual guest in a room with no number ! I can only assume it's used as private residence or staff . Would I stay again yes but not in that room even though i feel they where not being truthful , it's just so handy to get into Venice .

« Great place to stay, central location for lot's of fun activities, easy access to Cruise Ships! »

We went to Venice a couple of days ahead of the start of a 16-day cruise through the Middle East. We chose this hotel on great recommendations and its ideal location near the Cruise Terminal. Quaint and elegant hotel, right on one of Venice's main canals. Very close to the train and bus station (5-minute walk). Only one bridge to cross over and it's an easy one. Great location, beautiful garden views, nice, clean, large rooms. Excellent breakfast buffet. All of the Staff spoke English and were quick to provide assistance and recommendations in & around town. Would love to stay here again. Next time we visit Venice, we will definitely book the Olimpia,

    « Lovely stay »

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of Jan 2016 for our honeymoon. Hotel easy to find and short walk from the main train station. Rooms spacious, clean and well equipped. Free breakfast and wifi great. Close to all attractions. Negatives: The bartender could do with some training as you can tell he wasn't too sure of the drinks. Also guests next door were very noisy. Overall would stay here again.

« Beautiful Hotel on the Water »

Quite an elegant hotel, right on one of Venice's main canals. Very close to the train and bus station. Great location, beautiful garden views, nice, large rooms. Prosecco and nuts for happy hour out on the walkway by the canal. Excellent breakfast buffet. Would love to stay here again. Next time we visit Venice, we will definitely book the Olimpia BW.

« Winter Carnival Visit to Venice »

Nice cute hotel within walking distance from the Central Train Station. Walk out of the train station, make a right, walk over the bridge and you will be at the Pizzale Roma the bus station .. walk on to the left and over the small bridge and you can see the hotel building right in front of you. The room nice in a quiet part of the building in the back and was very comfortable. The front desk was very very helpful and also gave me a welcome drink :-) St. Marks' Square and Rialto are about a 20 to 30 mins walk along the cute streets of Venice. Will recommend this hotel for sure.

    « A winner for several reasons »

Not only is the hotel close to the railway and bus stations...with a minimum number of bridges to carry your suitcase over..but the rooms are of a good size and quality, and the 5 euro breakfast is amazing - cereal, bacon sausage and eggs, cold meats, smoked salmon, breads, toasts, fruit, local cakes...the selection is endless. If you arrive in the evening you may well be greeted by Robert, and Italian who speaks English with a perfect Welsh accent., and who gives excellent advice.

« Great Location and Staff ,excellent all round hotel »

Just got back from 6 nights in Venice , The Best Western Olimpia is within a stones throw of the Piazzale Roma and the Vaperetto stops for all the major sites and islands. We stayed in room 405 overlooking the canal. Really comfortable room very clean and well furnished. The reception staff spoke perfect English , thank goodness as my Italian was strictly tourist standard only. As we arrived early our bags were stored whilst we wandered off through the alleys and canals of Dosaduro. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was very good with plenty of choice. Our only regret is we couldn't use the garden due to the cold weather in warmer weather meals can be eaten al fresco in the beautiful walled garden. We saw fellow tourists battling with luggage on the waterbuses or up and down the alleys near St Marks Square and were even more satisfied with our decision to stay at the Olimpia , which is 2 minutes from the Airport bus stop.

« Lovely hotel with great location »

The location of this hotel is perfect, very, very close to Piazzale Roma, where the bus to airport, and many water bus would stop. The room size is reasonable in Venice. The breakfast is good. The staff is kind and nice. I love this hotel, highly recommended.

    « This is a wonderful hotel. »

We stayed in room 112 overlooking the canal, try to book this room. Everything about this hotel is top notch from the friendly English speaking staff, phenomenal breakfast, the elegant accommodations and one of the best locations for exploring Venice. Use the Vaporetto to get around, any other form of transportation is way to expensive. I promise you will not be disappointed with this hotel. We would go back here in a heartbeat.

« A delightful hotel well positioned for enjoying Venice. »

The Best Western Hotel Olimpia in Venice is a delightful hotel which is well positioned for enjoying the many sites that Venice has to offer. The hotel is also very close to the Bus Terminus, Main Railway Station, Ferry Piers and walking trails (from 1 to 5 minutes' walk) within Venice making it easy for guests to not only arrive at the hotel but also to explore Venice's many tourist and shopping areas. The hotel is decorated in a period style and the rooms are comfortable, functional, large, well-appointed and we had a very comfortable bed. The hotel offers all the amenities one expects of a Best Western hotel and the staff are friendly, helpful and are always ready to help guests. The hotel offers an excellent and varied continental style breakfast (however it should be noted that the English style hot food selection is limited). We received excellent advice from the Concierge at the hotel, Robert G., who advised that the hotel's ideal location made it easy to walk through Venice. Robert is a jovial and witty character who is a native speaker of both English and Italian, having grown up in Wales and Italy. He certainly made our stay at the hotel more memorable and enjoyable. Irrespective of which walking path you take from the hotel, look for the yellow signs and arrows directing you to S. Marco, Rialto or Accademia and you will soon find yourself walking along delightful shopping streets which bring you to Venice's iconic tourist locations. To return to the hotel simply look for the signs pointing you towards either Piazzale Roma or Ferrovia (the bus terminus and railway station respectively). Using a map in Venice is not easy and one is better to enjoy meandering through the canals, embankments and squares and taking in one of the world's truly remarkable cities.

    « Fabulous location »

Absolutely loved this hotel. Breakfast was fantastic, perfect start to the day to wander around amazing Venice. I was travelling with my parents and 6 year old son and we all loved it. The location is fantastic, easily accessible for car, rail, water bus & water taxi. We arrived by water taxi and it was well worth the money, felt like James Bond!! Rooms are clean, well equipped and up to date we stayed for 4 nights and loved every second of it. Can't wait to come back.

« Weekend Getaway in Venice »

My family and I chose to stay here mainly because of the breakfast included. It was delicious! Staff was friendly and location was convenient to the bus shuttles/vaporetto. It's about an easy 25 min walk to St Marks square, with a few bridges to climb over. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because the bed we had was a little more firm than what we're used to so we didn't have the best sleep.

    « Lovely hotel »

The location is great, 5 minutes walk to bus station and 10 minutes to train station and from there you can take water bus to wherever you want to go. The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially Robert G who is very charming and funny. The room is big and clean, we had a great time when stayed in Venice.

    « Loving Venice »

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Robert at reception was unbelievable, a such nice guy and so good with my kids. Hotel was clean and staff efficient and good. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The location was excellent and the breakfast was also very good. Overall a great experience, thanks Robert.

« One of the highlights of our European vacation »

Our 3-night stay at the hotel last Christmas was the highlight of our European holiday, in terms of both service and quality of accommodations. Special commendation goes to Robert at reception, with his unique accent and wicked sense of humour. He's a real gem who played a big part in making our stay comfortable and memorable. Our spacious room on the 4th floor was a delight too, with a view of the canal and a good-sized bathroom. It was immaculately clean and appeared newly refurbished, modern yet with a touch of Venetian charm. Although we were right next to the elevator, we did not find it noisy at all. Breakfast was another definite plus, offering - among other things - generous slices of fresh ham and free-flow prosecco. The location of the hotel is excellent, just a short walk across the bridge from the railway station and a few minutes away from the nearest supermarket; many restaurants within comfortable walking distance. Although it's a bit further from the touristy centre of St Mark's Square, it only means that we had the opportunity to explore and see more of Venice on foot. I'd rate it 4.5 stars, but that doesn't seem possible! All things considered, I'd give Hotel Olimpia two thumbs up and would thoroughly recommend it.

    4
    « Convenient location »

Breakfast is amazing. The rooms are very fancy and the bathrooms are more spacious than most Italian bathrooms. They have a private garden and it is beautiful. The only thing I can say I didn't like is that during the winter season, they only have heater in the rooms, no air conditioner, which I think happens in most Italian hotels. At night, it can get pretty hot. It was close to Garage San Marco which charges 30 euros for 24 hours.

    5
« Perfect location for Venice and side trips »

Five stars for a 3-star hotel. The location is perfect for arriving at the Venice bus station from the airport and to be at the hotel in three minutes; less than a ten minute walk to the train station. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is outstanding and included. The neighborhood is pleasant and not too crowded (crowds, restaurants and stores nearby on Lista di Spagna, just past the train station.) Walking, It's ten minutes to the Frari Church or fifteen to the Rialto bridge. If you are in the mood for a side trip it's easy to head over to train station (Padua is nearby and worthwhile).

    « Great experiente! »

The hotel is very Good. The room is absolute beautiful, clean and tidy. The room has some nice details like warmed floor in the restroom and warmed towel holder. The staffs are very friendly and polity. This is a 3 stars hotel but it could be a 4 stars, for sure. I would return to this hotel in a next time for sure. The breakfast is excellent.

« Great location, clean comfortable hotel »

We stayed at the Best Western Olimpia for 3 nights in late December. The hotel was warm and cozy, clean, comfortable and in a great location close to parking , the bus stops and not far from the train station. No need to lug suitcases up and over bridges and everything in Venice is within walking distance (as long as you don't mind walking). The breakfast is very good, with a wide selection of hot and cold foods, and good coffee. We had room 112 - I would avoid it in future as it is at the top of the first flight of stairs, just beside the elevator. It was a nice, spacious room, with a recently renovated bath, but it seemed like everyone stopped outside our room to have a conversation, even in the early hours of the morning. During the second night, there was a bit of a party outside our door at about 1:30 am and we had to ask them to be quiet (not quite that politely). We mentioned this to the front desk the next morning and they were very apologetic and said that they would speak to the night person on the desk as the door to our room was just up the stairs from the desk - if they woke us up, he must have heard it too. The manager sent us a note and a bottle of Prosecco as an apology - very nice gesture. We will certainly consider the Olimpia the next time we come to Venice, but will ask for a different room.

    « Incredible »

We stayed at this hotel in our honeymoon in Italy. It was our best election, over Firenze and Rome and cheapier than this places! We loved the decoration of the building and the room, the absolutely delicious breakfast (fresh and tasty), and the amability of their staff, specially for Andrea in the reception. The team also helps you to choose best restaurants in area for a good balance quality/price. We are planning our next trip to Europe and certainly we will pass a couple of days in Venice again!

« Exemplary Customer Service and Close to Parking »

The Best Western Hotel Olimpia is a great option for families. The rooms are spacious, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is appealing for all ages. The hotel is an easy walk from the parking garages located just over the causeway from the mainland. Venice is an expensive place to stay, but the Hotel Olimpia is an excellent value. Our family would not consider lodging anywhere else on the island.

    « Better than expected!! »

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night only and were pretty impressed with the décor and cleanliness of our room! The staff was kind (except for the elderly gentleman that worked at the front desk at night, maybe he was having a bad day). Unfortunately I didn't find the bed to be too comfortable, it was a bit on the hard side and the pillow was like a rock!! In the morning I checked my husband's pillow and his was very soft. We left too early and missed breakfast so I can't say how it was but it smelled good. It is super close to the bus station and this is was my main reason for booking here.

Friendly & comfortable. This hotel is ideally situated, near rail, bus and airport links. Friendly helpful staff with first rate accommodation. « Venetian Elegance on Piazzale Roma »

We stayed two nights in this beautiful hotel. Just a five-minute drive from the Port of Venice cruise ship parking terminal. This was important to us since we had just come off a cruise and we needed parking for our car. Our GPS took us to the right location, but we couldn't find the hotel right away (until a local resident pointed it out to us). Directions on the website could probably be better. There is a parking garage located very close to the hotel where we left our car for the two days we were there which worked out just great. The hotel is very conveniently located within easy walking distance to everything you want to visit in Venice--from the Rialto Bridge to St. Mark's Square. Our room was beautiful, with a gorgeous view of the courtyard garden. Free WiFi and a wonderful breakfast greeted us every morning--coffees, tea, fresh breads, croissants, pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurts, preserves, etc. There is also a small bar in the front of the hotel. Tables outside invite you to sit and people watch by the water as passersby cross the bridges. We walked everywhere, and felt we had really experienced Venice by the time our two days were over. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in giving directions, too. The room was very beautiful and well appointed as well as very quiet. It was a magical visit. Loved Venice and the ambiance of the hotel significantly added to our overall experience, Highly Recommend!!!!

« Pleasant and nice stay »

The Best Western Olympia hotel provides the décor and ambience of a typical stylish Venetian small hotel. Although it can be considered as one of the modest small hotels when compared to the palace hotels to be found in some expansive areas in Venice, it is certainly well worth the stay and the value for money. The staff are super courteous and helpful and we were assisted with some queries we had. The breakfast includes, cured hams and cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, yoghurt, bacon and sausages and even spumante. The rooms are clean, comfortable with a great shower and a minibar. The window of our room overlooked a canal. What was also great for us was that it was directly near Piazzale Roma and so it was easy for us to transfer from the Venezia Santa Lucia train station to the hotel and also to catch the bus to Treviso airport on the day of departure.

« Hospitable staff, great location »

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel that is wonderfully close to the bus and train stations, and is located right along a canal. In the midst of renovations, but not particularly noticeable noise or inconvenience. We stayed in a room on the top floor overlooking the canal. Room was very small but nicely decorated and very clean. Only downsides were the noise from the street (there's a bar just down the way) and the small size of the bathroom- the sink overhung the toilet, making it very difficult! Staff was very accommodating and kind, breakfast was wonderful. Would recommend.

    « Convenient and pleasant »

Hotel Olimpia Nov. 5 and 6 This is conveniently located off piazza Roma where the buses and Taxis drop off at the end of the Causeway to Venice. After a short walk you only have to cross one bridge to get to the hotel. This is also very convenient to walk to the "People mover" (automated elevated tram) off Piazzale Roma that gets you to the Cruise port. The Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and room 208 was well appointed and very clean. Staff can help you with your bags as there is limited elevator access to all rooms. The washroom has been modernized and also had a bidet. This particular room had a view across a small canal towards Piazzale Roma. Rates were reasonable for the time of year. Across the Piazzale Roma near Vaporetta gate B there is a Co-op grocery store where you can buy wine and groceries. This is relatively close if you want to pick up wine prior to Boarding the ship. On our second stay, Rooms 405 and 406 are newly renovated and are on the top floor with close elevator access. Same view over the canal toward Piazale Roma. The hotel will also arrange for a taxi if you need to get to the airport.

    « BELISSIMO! »

Having stayed in central Venice on a number of occasions in the past we were unsure of the Olimpia Hotel and its location. What a wonderful experience this turned out. Bus shuttle from the airport took us within walking distance and we even managed the cobble stone streets! Check in was a breeze and the room overlooking the canal was fabulous. The room was well presented with all the mod cons but with a venetian flare! Breakfast was to the highest standard regarding presentation and selection with never ending prosecco! The location was quite surprisingly central and shopping in central Venice was achievable by a number of venues and short cuts that we managed to find all be it on the last day. We cruised out of Venice and easily walked to the people mover which took us to the Port area however our ship was at the end of the pier but the walk was pleasant enough. The staff at the Olimpia need special mention as they went out of their way to ensure that our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. There is a number of excellent restaurants within a short walk and the garden area is a pleasant surprise.

« Great pre cruise hotel »

We stayed here for 3 nights prior to our cruise and had a wonderful time. Because of back issues I was able to arrange through the hotel a pick up at the airport and delivery of us and our luggage to the hotel, as well as again getting the luggage and us from the hotel to the cruise ship. Nice place, lovely garden, good breakfast and excellent staff.

« Irresponsible attitude towards guests belongings »

We checked out today at about noon from the hotel and the hotel assisted us with luggage deposit till the evening as our flight was in the late evening. While depositing the luggage we asked for a luggage deposit receipt which the lady at the counter said was not required, we double checked and she said was not required.we deposited 4 pieces and on our return at about 5.15 pm when we returned and asked for our luggage to our dismay only 3 were found. The fourth one they said was exchanged with another guest as per the then present assistant "Robert".My wife being a hotelier asked them to trace the guest who would have taken the luggage using their surveillance footage. What was extremely disappointing was that Robert said he was not authorised to do it and their was no senior in the hotel to look into this. We are yet to hear from the hotel on any track of the luggage. Robert confirmed that the management will take responsibility of this and would either get the baggage to us or would cover our monetary loss of 4000 euros and our loss of credit cards, debit cards, identity proofs etc. We were told that General Manager would not be available before Monday and nobody could do anything. We would like to use this platform to seek an extremely responsible action from the hotel.the hotel senior management was not even ready to come on the phone to talk to us. This isn't hospitality and no guest would trust a hotel of this repute in such a case. We seek appropriate responsibility display from the hotel team.

« The Hidden garden of Venice »

Following our cruise to Venice we stayed at this beautifully refurbished hotel, situated only metres away from the excellent transport links at Piazzale Roma. The hotel is situated on a quiet small canal and ouzes Venetian charm. We stayed in room 403 which is at the back of the hotel and was very peaceful. The spacious room has just been refurbished in a traditional Venetian style with a large contemporary en suite bathroom. The room included a modern air conditioning system (hot/cold), mini bar, flat screen tv, and all the necessary extras expected. The hotel has a small bar and a wonderful, pretty and tranquil rear garden. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and spoke numerous languages including English. They recommended the trattatoria next door which served good, cheap, traditional Italian food and excellent vino. Bottle of Chianti DOC was only 18 euros. We had breakfast in the nicely decorated breakfast room which was completely self service. Although the hot breakfast option was very limited (inedible scrambled eggs, hot dog style sausage, bacon), the continental option offered an excellent selection of cold meats / cheeses / pastries/Danishes and Italian cakes along with fruits ,cereals etc, etc. The hotel is within walking distance of the vaporetti/ ,train station/bus station/taxis. Definitely a place to stay in this wonderful city.

    « What a wonderful visit »

We were looking for a hotel near Piazzale Roma. After reading Trip Advisor we booked Hotel Olympia. Upon checking in, we immediately felt we were home. The staff is so cordial and helpful. The Prosecco our first evening after a very long flight was wonderful. We never dreamed at the price we paid, there would be such a delightful feast for breakfast (including more prosecco). Our room was immaculately clean and very roomy. In short the Best Western Hotel Olympia is our permanent home away from home when we visit Venice in the future.

« cherry on the cake »

Venice is a very beautiful city and stay in this hotel was the cherry on the cake. Walking distance from the bus station, clean, nicely decorated, breakfast to die for and VERY helpful and attentive staff. Receptionist was so sweet surprising me with a complimentary bottle of prosecco, upon noticing it was my birthday (the purpose of the trip was a birthday celebration) and Claudia at breakfast was so nice. Can't recommneded enough.

« Tip top hotel staff and location »

I have been coming to this hotel for some 8 years. Why because it is to me exceptional for the price. The staff are also so very nice. OK so the stay is Midweek in November so the rates are at their best. I organise the trip with friends and during all these years we only have one slight complaint and that is this year the rooms were a bit hot. As usual the mosquitos had their fun with me but the room had an anti mosquito plug in which I forgot to turn on the first night so my fault. My room has been updated fairly recently as were the rooms of my 5 companions. The bathroom was ultra modern and it and the bedroom beautifully clean. The sheets seemed to be changed every day bar one. Nothing better than sleeping in a bed with clean sheets. It is very difficult to fault the room other than the fact it was a bit too warm with the windows shut to keep those pesky mozies. The hotel has recently had an update throughout including a new lift. All very tastefully done. Breakfast is included in the price which is not always the case in Venice. Terrific choice including smoked salmon and Prosecco. The staff well what can I say. Without exception they are all so very nice helpful and professional. I shouldn't single out anyone as they are all so good be it reception breakfast room concierge and housekeeping but I will and that is Serena. Always was very helpful. Many Thanks to you and your fellow staff for another memorable stay. The hotel is well placed for the cruise ships so many people only stay for one night. However it is for me ideally situated to get to most places in Venice and surrounding islands being right next to Piazale Roma. A two minute walk to the hotel from the airport bus terminus and a three minute walk to the vaporetto. I will be back next year and would not dream of staying elsewhere.

« Location, breakfast, staff, rooms, all good. »

This was the second time staying at this hotel. Will stay again. Great location, easy walk from the train station with luggage. Check in staff very friendly and helpful with walking maps to San Marco. Also good advice taking the vaparotto (sp)to tour the canal. Make sure you take the one that makes all the stops not the express. Breakfast above average, champagne !! Clean room, with modern bathroom. Will stay again

« Nice and clean hotel »

Very nicely decorated hotel, within walking distance of Piazzale Roma which is where the bus station, taxi stand, and even airports coaches. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast room was on the smaller side and quite crowded at certain times of the morning, but the breakfast itself was great and with a lot of variety. Great start to your Venice experience!

    « Wonderful staff! »

There are so many reasons to recommend the Best Western Hotel Olimpia: the location for us was perfect since the hotel is near the Piazzale Roma, which is very near the docks for the cruise line that we were taking; the rooms were clean and well maintained (indeed, "impeccable" is the word that comes to mind) and the breakfast- included in the price- was excellent, including a large choice of breads, pastries, cereals and hot items as well. The most compelling reason I have for recommending the Olimpia, however, is the wonderful staff. They were all unfailingly friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Let me single out Andreas and Thomas who were very patient giving directions to various sites in Venice and advice as to transportation to cruise ship, airport etc. and Robert who went out of his way- even though he was very busy at the time- to make a room change when the first room we were given didn't quite fit our needs. They all went the extra mile to make our stay a pleasant and memorable one. The next time I am in Venice, I definitely plan on staying at the Olimpia once again.

    « Really Good »

Great little hotel in a superb location for accessing Venice via public transport (either by train or airport bus). Bus station is 5mins away. Small hotel and small room, but has had excellent renovations making it quite modern. Excellent included buffet breakfast and good wifi. Exceptional standard of cleaning, my room upon arrival was immaculately clean. Only did one night here after a cruise, but hard to fault from my brief experience. Would stay again.

    « Perfect for us »

I chose this hotel because it was close to the train station, thinking we could easily walk with our suitcases without taking the water taxi. The only thing I didn't notice when I "google mapped" the route, was that the large foot bridge we had to cross over was a myriad of hundreds of steps. No way could we drag our bags up these steep steps, so we employed a porter who ran up to offer help. He charged 5 euros per bag, but it was WELL WORTH IT !! He struggled, even using a special metal cart, and he earned every euro. He took us right to the hotel lobby. Fortunately we kept his card, so we knew who to call when we left. If you use the hotel concierge, the service they use charges much more, and won't come promptly, because they are in great demand. Our rooms were on the top floor, with ample room, a small desk, remodeled bathroom, chairs, and windows facing a small canal. Shutters on the exterior were closed at night and helped to keep sunlight out. Keys are large and brass, so you leave at the front desk when you go out. There is a very small bar across the hall from the front desk, a computer desk with one computer further past, and to the right are two dining areas. Breakfast is very good, and the coffee machine has many options of choices. There are tables outside in the front, and in the back, which are in a lovely, large garden area. The computer is not fast, and you have to ask for the special code to get @. We had a late afternoon snack with our complimentary Proseco on the back patio, before we ventured out to explore nearby spots. All guests are given a "Welcome to Venice" paper, informing them about using the in room safety deposit box, and anti-mosquito plug ins. Guess we "lucked out" because it was windy and cool enough that the mosquitos were not a problem. It also gives the Free Wi Fi password, breakfast and check out times, and info. about restaurant items. There is also a statement that says "complimentary tour to Murano". The Murano glass factory, called Vetreria Bisanzio Gallery, has apparently made "deals" with many (or most) hotels in Venice, to offer "free" water taxi service, then you are "on your own" as far as taking the water bus to Burano or back to Venice. It sounded good to us, so we signed up. However, this is "the scoop"- the teak wood boat is sleek, with no "head room" inside, but since there were just 4 of us, we stuck our heads outside and had a fun ride over enjoying the ambiance of Venice.. The boat pulled right in front of the factory, where we disembarked and then were led into the working area., We sat on small bleachers and watched a water pitcher being "blown". Next a guide named Luigi took us over to the factory store, which is on several floors, and is full of gorgeous blown glass art pieces. The prices were extremely high, but we had no knowledge of the "going rate" for these glass pieces. Our friends decided to make a purchase, and after several glasses of wine, and being taken to the "private, special" art room for a tour, we wound up making a purchase also. It happened so fast- Luigi is a master salesman. No, we didn't have to buy anything, but got "swept up", and now believe we paid approximately double the real value of the vase we got. It is gorgeous, but was very expensive.! The bad thing is that they have a "network", and offered to now take us on the same boat "free" over to Burano Island. We made a HUGE MISTAKE in taking this boat ride, because we did not see Murano at all. When we docked on Burano a young lady greeted us - huh? She said she was there to take us to a "free tour" of a lace factory. We didn't want to upset her, so we went, but were "stuck" in the shop for a long time, and given another big "sales pitch" to buy lace, which we didn't do. She then dropped us off at her cousin's restaurant for lunch, which had one of only 3 bad meals we had on our 16 day journey around Northern Italy. Another "rip off"! So, the lesson is- IF you take the boat from the Olimpia to Murano. do not buy anything until you have had a chance to walk around to all of the other shops on the island, so you can compare art pieces and prices. Do not take the "free" ride to Burano-go on the water ferry, so you are free to do as you please. Overall the hotel was perfect for us, because we weren't in the room much, and it was close to the train station. It was comfortable, and the employees were friendly and helpful. In the mornings we could see buses unloading hotel, store, museum, and restaurant employees, who live outside of Venice. When you get back at night "peek into" the bar area for free cookies, or other snacks. We enjoyed our stay.

« Perfect location for cruisers »

This hotel is in a great location for people getting on a cruise ship. Only 2 foot bridges from the trains, taxis, etc. Great American breakfast with excellent service. Rooms were extremely small by American standards, but we slept well. The rooms were clean, wifi was free (albeit slow) and staff was great. The hotel is laid out funny, so the rooms can be confusing to find. Our shower didn't drain, but really a minor issue. We stayed two nights before getting on a cruise ship and were happy that this hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to see.

Stayed here just over a month ago for 3 nights early Oct. Staff always at the ready to be helpful, informative and friendly. Thank you Marta, Andrea, Mattia and Roberto. Clean and quaintly refurbished rooms. Wide range of breakfast choices and very obliging staff in this restaurant. Small bar area at the front with outlook to the small canal. A few cafe chairs and tables at the front of the premises overlooking the canal. Beautiful garden at the back with sun lounges. Marvellous location and very close walk to the bus station and not far from cruise ship port. Transport easily arranged by staff for this purpose. We had a lovely view of a smaller canal. Thank you so much. I hope to go back to Venice and will definitely be staying at this friendly, excellent value for money hotel. Grazie Tanta Donna August West Australia

    « Very satisfied »

Spent 3 nights with my wife. This is a superior 3 star hotel. We came in by train and left by airplane. The hotel gives easy access to both and to the Grand Canal boat bus. Do note that like almost all hotels your must walk up and down bridges from the transportation. The bridges have steps, not ramps. Porter service from the train station and from the hotel are available. With heavy luggage I recommend it. The included breakfast is good tasting. During our stay it included eggs, lox, cereals and pastry.

« Great Updated Hotel and Location! »

We stayed one night prior to leaving on a cruise the next evening. The hotel room and bathroom were clean and recently updated. We requested an upper floor room and were located on the 4th floor overlooking a small canal. The hotel location can't be beat. It is situated just a couple of walking minutes from the land bus drop-off point and people-mover to the cruise terminal. Breakfast was included and had hot and cold selections. The staff was professional and very helpful. If we ever visit Venice again, we will stay at this hotel!

« What a pleasant surprise - we loved it. »

We made the booking primarily because the hotel was close to the Piazzale Roma, hence close to the cruise ships. But what a gem this hotel really turned out to be. Robert greeted us at reception - welcoming, helpful, attentive and funny. Thank you Robert. The room was clean (as new) , well equipped, lots of space and lovely views. Unbelievable quality breakfasts! We loved it!!

Great breakfast each morning in order to kick off our day of sightseeing. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel is close walking distance from the bus terminal. I would have no problems recommending this hotel to friends and family.

    « Venice »

This is a really convenient and funky hotel! It's located very close to the main parking lot and is very quiet - nicely away from the frenzy of the crowded piazza. (But an easy and beautiful walk). We were given a gorgeous room in the tower, plenty of space for a family of 5. Breakfast buffet was amazing. Staff super friendly.

I loved staying in this Hotel. Our hostest "Marta" was super nice and the room looked like it was located in a small palace. I had a great night sleep, everything was super neat and the hotel was super quiet.

    « 3 DAYS IN VENICE »

Venice was a place we wanted to tick off the bucket list. After nearly 2 months of touring England and Europe the Venitians were a bit of a let down. The appeared rude, impatient, money hungry and didn't really want the tourists there. The exception to this were the staff at the Olimpia Hotel. They were always friendly, went out of their way to be helpful and made our stay in Venice a lot better than it could have been. We caught the train 1st class from Munich to Venice Centrale. Although the train station is close it was still an effort to get 2 very large bags over stepped bridges to the hotel. I would recommend a pre arranged porter with a boat next time. We did this on the way out of Venice and it was a lot easier. We didn't like Murano, if you are not intending on spending big money a lot of the store owners are pretty rude, not all but a lot. We loved the Basilica and the Palace in the main square of Venice, well worth a look. If you stay at the Olimpia I would recommend the restaurants and Gelato place just around the corner on the canals, literally one minute walk, very friendly and a great meal - 1st time I have ever had the black squid ink on a pasta meal. The rooms are fairly small but very comfortable and clean we had a view of a beautiful garden courtyard. $1300 Australian for 3 nights - wifi was very slow and patchy. Very quiet location. Hotel catered well for my wife's gluten free requirements at breakfast.

    « Considerate staff »

The female hotel desk clerk ( I'm sorry, I can't remember their names) and the porter walked across the bridge and helped carry my luggage back to the hotel. I really appreciated this because I use a walker to help me get around and this would have been even more challenging for me in addition to all the steps I had to climb to get to the other side of the canal. The maintenance worker boats should be required to park some place else, so that they do not block the entrance into the hotel where the Water Taxis drop off guests. It's best to take a Water Taxi to this hotel to avoid trying to maneuver your luggage the bridges, lots of steps and uneven stone pavement . Loved the hotel.

« Perfect hotel for airport transfer and exploring Venice »

We stayed for two nights prior to boarding our cruise The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast offered a large variety of food. The rooms were small and recently updated and clean. The price was a good value. We took the airport bus directly to P. Roma and could see our hotel when exiting the bus. The cost of bus was 1.5 euro per person. There were steps over a bridge which wasn't easily navigated with luggage. There were porters at the bus stop that took us to hotel with luggage for 10 euros. From the hotel we got on the people mover (next to Parking garage) and for 3 euros dropped us at cruise terminal. For exploring Venice, the waterbus stop was near hotel. We purchased a 24 hr pass for 20 euros per person. This was the perfect location for us. Restaurants were nearby in additional to train station.

This hotel was even more than we expected. Located near the rail station we were there in 5 minutes. The check in was excellent with a touch of humor about the breakfast which as very good. We took the recommendation and got a room facing the garden. The only downside is we left the windows open at night and of course there are mosquitoes there due to the water. My mistake. We were local to everything and easily accessible to the water bus (vaparetto). The 3 day pass was super and easy to use. Breakfast was very nice as I think everyone went, but plenty of room. We were especially thankful to Marta for assisting in directions especially for our Anniversary Dinner at Riviera. No walking necessary as the water bus took us right there instead on the 25 minute walk through the maze of Venice. We were there in plenty of time which added to a wonderful evening. The hotel is very nice and the shower reminds me of my time on submarines, but as always rooms are efficient in Europe. The easy walk to the station made it nice as numerous times in the city we saw folks pulling their luggage behind them searching for the hotel or a path to a boat. Service was excellent and the room was kept and prepared early each day.

« Best Western Hotel Olimpia »

Stayed here for the week. It was all very clean with great staff, good beds and working A/C. Very close to the bus station [just one small bridge away] the breakfasts were better than expected and if they did not have it on display they cooked it for me. I would recommend this hotel to couples or for those joining the cruse liners moored near by. If I went back to Venice I would book this hotel again for sure. p.s. its also very close to all the main Venice water bus, starting points so its easy to get good seats on them.

« A one night business trip but would return for a holiday »

This hotel was booked for me by an agent after I found it on TripAdvisor so I can't comment on price. It was my first trip to Venice and although i had looked the hotel up on a map, i had no real idea where it was. The good news is that the hotel was very handy for the Piazzale Roma (I came in by taxi and the driver pointed out the hotel which was literally a 1-2 minute walk). The hotel was pretty quiet on a small canal and considering I was at the front of the hotel on a Saturday night I got a good night's sleep. The location is also very close to the Waterbus (1-2 mins walk) and it took me 30 minutes to walk to St Mark's Square - but be warned; if you don't have a map and a very good sense of direction i guarantee you'll get lost! I used the map app on my iPhone which worked really well and i only got lost once! So, location is excellent. Back to the hotel. The receptionist was very helpful and I was assisted up to my room. I also got a voucher for a free glass of prosecco in the bar The room was not large but it was big enough with a decent sized bed, clean, air-conditioned and with free wifi (this did not work at first but a quick chat with the helpful receptionist fixed it - and he checked that it had been fixed). Bathroom was modern with good fixtures - even one of those foot spa thingies! (bidet). Breakfast was OK. It was quite busy but there was a good choice and decent coffee. I would definitely stay there again.

« Charming hotel in perfect location to discover Venice »

This is a charming hotel, with every facility and very friendly staff. It is in a quiet area overlooking a canal and only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Canal. There is attention to detail in the decor, a nice breakfast room with excellent choice, and a pretty garden to enjoy. The main advantage of this hotel is its' proximity to the Piazzale Roma bus terminal, you can see the hotel from there and this avoids searching the narrow streets for your chosen hotel.

    « charming hotel »

Small charming hotel in a convenient location. We really enjoyed our breakfast in a pretty cozy courtyard. The hotel also had a covered spot with tables and chairs next to a small canal. This was a very relaxing spot to have a cup of coffee or glass of wine following a very tiring day.

« Ideal Hotel for Cruise Line Passengers »

The hotel is located near the Piazzale Roma bus terminal. There is only one bridge to cross to the hotel with your luggage and you don't need a porter to trolley your luggage unless you stay at other hotels within Venice. Our room had view of the canal with gondolas which we loved. Breakfast was included and there was a great range to select from. The rooms were very clean and presentable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were going to get the People Mover to the ship terminal, but the receptionist suggested we go in a private taxi van with other guests going on the same cruise. This was very helpful as the taxi van driver took all our heavy luggage from the hotel to the van and then dropped us off at the entry to the cruise liner. We did not have carry luggage up to the People Mover and then walk the distance from the People Mover to the cruise ship.

« Perfect location for cruise passengers »

Very nice hotel with nice size rooms and a great staff. Every staff member we delt with did everything they could to make our stay more enjoyable. Short walk from the bus terminal (300-400ft) but still quiet. Also a short walk to the people mover that takes you to the cruise terminal. Convenient to the water taxi lines that take you all over Venice. After seeing people dragging their bags through the narrow streets and alleys around San Marco the slight inconvenience of having to take the water taxi seemed to be an advantage. The only minor complaint I have for the hotel is that the shower was very small. Great Eropean hotel. Will stay here again if we mome back to Venice.

« Best of the Best at Olimpia »

What a delight to return to this gem! Renovated with careful planning, thoroughly update, yet not lost its charm and style. So close to transport, Piazzale Roma and train station, also light rail etc. a water taxi can arrive at canal outside the door. Staff obliging all obliging, helpful and funny (Robert you are one of a kind). Breakfast room staff smartly dressed. Food choice, plenty. Be back for a third visit if we ever get a chance!

« The Perfect Ideal European Hotel! »

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Hotel Olympia, Venice, Italy for three nights before boarding the Island Princess Cruise ship for our Mediterranean Cruise. The location of this hotel near the train station, bus stop, taxi stands and vapporetto (water bus) was perfect as we did not have to tote our luggage very far through the city of Venice. Upon arriving in Venice our private water taxi from the airport dropped us off at the door steps to the hotel. The guest rooms where very quiet, clean, comfortable and well appointed with a nice relaxing European flare that was not overly excessive. The hotel employees were always very helpful and friendly and spoke very good English. The breakfast bar was excellent and I highly recommend the lemon coffee cake pastry, the apple pastry, the pizza (yes for breakfast and it was superb), and the hot chocolate and coffee espresso drinks! If and when we return to Venice, this will be our first choice in hotels.

    « Super hotel »

Beautifully appointed. Excellent friendly staff. Welcome drink on arrival. Large rooms very nicely decorated. Quiet. Free safe and wi-fi. Wonderful breakfast, seating both in the restaurant and garden. Very close to Piazza Roma, so handy for the cruise terminal and airport buses. Water transport also on the doorstep. Hotel advertises short walk to Piazza Roma. Yes it is. Only downside for us was that you have to cross two canals ( with many steps) to get there. As we were joining a cruise ship we had heavy cases. There are porters in Piazza Roma, but we arrived at 10pm so too late for this service. The hotel ordered us a taxi to the ship. For an extra charge the driver comes to the hotel and carries your cases. Well worth it for us.

    « Excellent All Round »

Don't be put off by the initial look from outside, this hotel is in the perfect location, next to the bus station, with easy access to town. The staff were very helpful, with a special mention to Robert the Italian night receptionist. Clean and comfortable. Perfect for weekend break in Venice.

« Excellent Location and Exceptional Staff »

As a group of two couples we stayed here for two nights. The hotel location is excellent (no dragging bags through the streets of Venice) it is right beside the bus station. It doesn't look great from the outside (a little bit faulty towers) but that couldn't be further from the truth when you enter the building, it was spotless inside. The staff were very helpful guiding us on our way for our first visit to Venice. We have to make a special mention to Robert the italian night receptionist who with a wicked sense of humour and his welsh accent was priceless. His advice and recommendations were excellent and contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The rooms were a little dated but were clean and had everything we needed for our stay we would definitely recommend to others.

    « Magical stay! »

We loved our stay here ? the service, the staff, the location, the décor ? all fantastic! Cleanliness: The hotel (the reception lobby, elevators, rooms, common areas) was absolutely spotless and sparkling. Comfort: Our stay was very relaxing. The ambiance is snug and cosy. Facilities: They have shower (no bathtub), soap/shampoo/conditioner etc, LCD TV, a beautiful outdoor garden (not sure if they have a pool), telephone in room, restaurant & bar. Food & Drink: The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. We had their breakfast which was absolutely lovely. They have a nice bar area as well. Location: Hotel Olimpia is located in in Venice's historic center ? Santa Croce. It is very well located ? a few minutes walk from the Basilica dei Frari, and the also the Grand Canal. Also the bus terminal and the train station are both nearby and at walking distance. Rooms: The room featured 18th-century Venetian furniture and décor. If you likely old style wooden furniture combine with luxury & comfort, you will absolutely love the style. Service: They offer room service, car rentals on request, laundry services and daily housekeeping. Staff: The staff was very welcoming, helpful, awesome, very hospitable and pleasant to deal with. Value for money: Yes, very much. Wifi: WiFi is available free across all areas of the hotel and the restaurant. Connectivity is very good. Overall an enjoyable stay and a first rate experience.

« Your home away from home in Venice »

We were pleasantly surprised as this hotel delivered on everything promised, plus more. It was our little quiet oasis after spending the day exploring, with our room overlooking a tranquil garden. Breakfast buffet every morning was enough to keep us going until late afternoon. We could not fault the friendliness or efficiency of the staff at all times. Location is perfect for access to the Cruise terminals, land and water taxis, people mover and Vaporetto terminal. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
