« Horrible Staff but Great Location »

There's a good chance that those of you reading may have family and/or guests joining you long after check-in. Let my experience serve as a warning before you book. Forewarning: This hotel programmed their elevators to always stop at the lobby regardless which direction its going and every single person is carded upon re-entry. After check-in and returning from a night out with friends & family, the following scenario played out. We had 2 rooms with 2 beds w/ pull out couches booked: - After checking IDs, the clerk working denies everyone from going up. Tells us that we need to pay for extra guests. - OK, I understand he's following rules. I offer to pay. He denies that request. - I ask why. He says it's hotel policy. (Then why did he tell me in the first place?) - Baffled, I ask to book another room and - without hesitation - he says the hotel is full without even bothering to check the system. - 2 other unrelated guests staying at the hotel return from dinner (who both stayed the night before) and get denied since one of them wasn't 'registered'. - Now, 3 rooms worth of people are arguing with this worker in the lobby. - Refusing to compromise or let us pay for extra guests, he ultimately let 2 of us go grab our belongings from our rooms. - Seeing no solution and no refund in sight, we were forced to book rooms at a motel. What's sad is that we received help from a different fully booked hotel in the area who pointed us in the right direction. - Here's the kicker, he mutters "Never book with us again" while we were leaving. Completely uncalled for from someone working in the hospitality industry. Major Takeaways: - Anyone returning after 10PM, not 'registered' during check-in, will be denied entry - Guests still CANNOT be added if they show up late. - Apparently, you can still be denied even if you already stayed a night. - Staff would prefer lose your business rather than accommodate one extra body in a room. - After reading other 1-star reviews, it proves that my situation is reoccurring at this hotel. Their hotel policy is backwards and their staff is in dire need of training in hospitality etiquette.

    « Close to Everything »

Stayed here for 2 nights. This hotel is a bit older but is right downtown. We had a suite, nice little sitting are and comfy beds. The only problem we had was with the toilet as it ran and then almost flooded on the last morning. They did send someone to fix it ASAP. Coffee in room was good. I also really liked having a little balcony. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Parking was inexpensive too

« THE WORST PLACE TO STAY! »

My family and I booked two room for the weekend here at the Best Western, I have to say it was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The service was soo bad we didn't even stay a night. We had one extra person in our group and they wouldn't let us add him to our group. We waisted all that money paying for the the rooms for the weekend and ended up staying at a motel. The man in the front big guy named "Ab" was really rude and told us "please don't come back." WOW really! I will never be staying at this Best Western again!!!

« Early Check in Surprised and pleased us »

After an early arrival after a long flight from Australia we needed to drop our luggage at reception until our late PM checkin. To our surprise the check in staff went beyond the call to find us a made up room so we could checkin shower relax etc. This meant our 3 day stay with Best Western Chateau Granville began well and made our entire stay memorable. The hotel service and restaurant were very good and we will make this my go to hotel for future Vancouver visits

« my great stay at the Chateau »

I was very pleasantly surprised by the renovations, very well done. I used to stay at the Chateau in the 80's, my union used to have their conventions at the Chateau. No complaints at all, but one suggestion re your restaurant, put pizza for one on the menu, like Earls or Speak Easy, Makes for a nice snack later at night. After all what is the microwave good for. Honourable mention to the cleaning staff as well, great job.

« Always an Excellent Experience »

This is my go-to place for business in Vancouver. Super easy to get to off either the Horseshoe Bay or Tsawwassen Ferries. Always warmly greeted, parking is easy and only a nominal fee for underground city parking - cannot be beat. Rooms are huge, well equipped and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Love the shower heads - I didn't want to get out from underneath it. Enjoyed my coffee in the morning in my room, easy to check out and get to my downtown meetings. And a great rewards program through Best Western too. This place makes business travel easy!

« New construction close to Granville »

Great hotel if your clubbing on Granville. Decently priced for a 20 year old hotel. However on the south side there is a new tower being built it's very close and Monday to Saturday would be very noisy.

    « Always Great! »

Spent the night for a meeting. always great service and facilities. the changes are great, easy parking and good wifi. Can not ask for more! Was on 15th floor this time and the King room was a nice layout.

Very clean and centrally located. The area is Definitely Downtown Vancouver! Not an area you would like to walk with your family. The underground parking was appreciated. The onsite hotel was excellent.

    « Best in Vancouver »

This is the best hotel in Vancouver. The staff are terrific especially in the restaurant and bar area. They could not have been more hospitable and friendly and caring. Love this hotel I cannot wait to come back.

« Great Hotel, and Drew (the Bellman) is Our Hero! »

Very comfortable hotel! After checkout, my wife realized she lost a diamond ring in the room. Drew the Bellman saved the day by getting on hands and knees to search. He found it under a chair cushion!

    « Great as always »

Great service at this stay once again. Room was clean and comfortable. Sofa and chair in the sitting area could use an update to something more comfortable, but this is a minor point. Hotel staff was once again friendly, professional and personable right from check in to check out. For the price, I find it very hard to beat anywhere else in the downtown area. Close to everything. 5-10 minute walk to BC Place and Rogers arena. Great variety of restaurants in the area in all price ranges.

    « Stopover Stay »

We stayed here pre and post Asian trip.Good location and very helpful staff. On our first visit we had a room that had a bedroom separate from the main area. The room was large with great living space. A TV in both rooms, microwave, fridge and a safe in the room. Close to shopping and restaurants. Bed is firm but comfortable. Free WI-FI as well as computers available in the lobby. We had a problem with our safe and it was taken care of within 30 minutes, the safe had to be replaced. On our second visit we were on the 15th floor. The room was smaller, no separate bedroom and no safe. There are safety deposit boxes at the desk. The room was adequate for our needs but the separate bedroom would have been nice. We were there on Halloween Weekend and there was a very loud all night party on the street. The hotel does provide your room with earplugs to help you sleep on noisy nights We locked our keys in our suitcase and a staff member cut the lock and told us where we could get a new lock. We had room service breakfast on two occasions and it was great. There is a restaurant in the hotel as well with decent food. I would stay again as the staff are excellent and which is a big plus for me.

    « Best Western Granville »

This hotel has become our homebase every time we visit Vancouver. It is clean, underground parking, has a great view of the city, centrally located and good value. The staff are informed and polite and the rooms are quiet.

« Great and location is good as well »

Stayed here last weekend for the first time. The location is good - walking distance to many things. Everyone was very nice. Our room was comfortable, and the bedroom surprisingly quiet (we had an end room) to lots of street noise outside. Slept very well. Nice to have a small fridge in the room, to buy bottled water and keep (because they offer bottled water in the room for $3.50 each - ummm....no!!!! The restaurant that is next door/attached serves a GREAT breakfast !

    « Birthday/Concert »

We stayed here for my birthday/Sum 41 concert and it was awesome. Room was really nice. The toilet was a bit too fancy for me (heat warmers etc.) but it was kind of fun! The staff was really nice as well. Didn't know we had to check-in before parking and a fellow from the hotel swiped his card for us to get in to go park. Really appreciated it. Front Desk staff were nice too! Not a fan of the pay parking, but it seems to be common in Downtown Vancouver. I will be booking again for a stay in March!

    « Great!! »

We found this location on TA and I can't say enough about the location. It is perfect if traveling with dogs! A dog park and off leash area just down the street! Wow! Way to go Vancouver!! We love staying at the Best Western Plus chain as we always have great experiences while traveling with our 2 dogs. This hotel did not disappoint! Thanks BW for catering to those of us and our pets!!

« Nice hotel in downtown Vancouver »

Stayed here before a cruise down the western US. Nice multi storied hotel with balconies. In Oct. it was a bit cool out there but I imagine in the spring and summer it would be nice to sit out there with a drink. The front rooms face a fairly busy street with a good view of the near by tall condos. My room in the back faced some construction but no traffic noise. We were on the 4th floor. The hotel has an attached bar and restaurant and there are numerous restaurants all around. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful as well as the concierge. We got there well before checkin and wanted to take the hop on-hop off bus. The concierge let us know it is about a 1 1/2 hour ride around Vancouver and at this time of the year the bus terminates early. He advised to take the bus in the morning to take full advantage of it. Unfortunately we had to get on a boat so we did not have the time (maybe next time). He did tag our luggage and store it so we could go out to a late lunch and walk around until checkin time. The room(s) were quite large, a sitting room and a bed room. 2 flat screen TVs a micro wave, a small refrig (inside a cabinet), and a coffee maker. The bathroom was clean and had adequate towels. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were full ( with my wife's head raised a bit she did not snore, a blessing). There is no doubt if I go back to Vancouver for any reason I will stay at the Chateau Granville for it's central location and great staff.

The staff was exceptional, the room very clean and comfortable and the location was great. The service was so far above my expectations and the price was fantastic. Good job BW Plus. You guys have out done yourself!

    « excellent quality »

The hotel is exactly as a hotel supposed to be, in a good way; everything is well organized and well planned, and everything works. The restaurant is great- we had both dinner and breakfast there. When I come back to Vancouver- I will stay only here.

    5
    « excellent downtown location »

Central to skytrain, the Commodore Ballroom, Rogers Arena, BC Place Stadium, Science World etc etc and shopping. If you like to get out of the hotel for breakfast and dinner, the Templeton is right across the street, funky, fast and fun service, good breakfast. Right nest door to that is a Thai place we really enjoyed too, just can't recall the name.

« Central, Friendly and Very Comfortable »

This hotel could not have been better to begin our holiday in Vancouver... Bruce the Night Manage had helped with many aspects of our visit and made our stay superb !! Location was central for all we wanted to do with nearby ATM's and local color !! Would highly recommend it for value for money !!

« Vancouver Best Western Plus Granville »

The location of this hotel is very good, friendly staff, nice room, Good Food, Price very reasonable. Easy access to Sky Train, Taxis right in front of the hotel, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vancouver, BC

    « Expensive but nice »

Fortunately I was able to book the room with rewards points. Otherwise the two nights would have cost me over $500. I had a "queen superior view room" which was advertised as having a "a breathtaking bird's-eye view of the city". Well, if you call some big condo buildings and a construction site breathtaking, I guess it fits. The room was fairly small compared to other Best Western hotels but I guess that's normal in a big city. It did have a fridge, microwave and coffee-maker. Breakfast was not included which is a bit of a let-down considering the room rates. The lobby was extremely busy whenever I went there, lots of people (tour groups maybe) checking in at the same time but I had the impression that it was handled quite efficiently. Parking was extra at $16 plus tax per night. Personally I think it should be included as well but what can you do. They have a concierge which is really nice when you're new to the city and need recommendations for places to see, restaurants, etc. Location is quite good to explore the city but there are some questionable shops and people around. I would stay there again but only if I could use rewards points again. Otherwise their rates are just too steep.

    « Great overnight stay »

We were looking for a one night stay in the city and this provided everything we wanted. 2 beds, sitting area and free WIFI - we had to pay to park our car but it was convenient underground parking. The unit was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was available in the morning in the cafe downstairs and was very reasonably priced.

    4
« Great location, clean rooms, good security »

Quick check in, decent clean rooms, good internet and television. Great location right on entertainment row! Rooms have definitely been updated and very nicely! Restaurant very good downstairs! Friendly staff and a pleasant stay.

    5
« Enjoyed the Earplugs and Chocolate! »

I stayed here on Friday night. The underground parking was perfect, in gated and locked. The check in happened without a hitch. The room had chocolates on the bed, and there were ear plugs for our ears to ensure a quiet sleep. I would stay here again.

    5
    « Very pleased »

I stayed here for six nights during the first half of October and can say this is an excellent choice of hotel. My suite was very clean and comfortable; all the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful; the bar and restaurant (both on the ground floor) were very pleasant and set slightly back from Granville Street. The service was great, too. The wi-fi was free, easy to connect with excellent coverage - and separate passwords for public areas and my suite. To address some of the earlier points: Yes, the hotel is in a somewhat rundown part of downtown, but by no means a reason not to stay there. It's within walking distance of Robson Street, restaurants, cafes, buses and the SkyTrain and also ideally located for Granville Island and the airport. There are often one or two taxis waiting outside, but also a direct line in the lobby to a taxi company. The two lifts were busy at times, but not always and the waits weren't too long. There was some noise from party-goers outside during the early hours on some of the nights, but this is to be expected from a downtown hotel. I loved the view of the city night lights of the street below from my fifth floor suite. I was also awoken by noise from guests during the early hours on a number of occasions - but this was beyond the control of the hotel and can happen anywhere. I would certainly consider staying here again.

    « Almost great »

We spent three nights in a one bedroom suite at the back of the hotel facing a construction site.We requesred a quiet room and as it was a long weekend, it was, as predicted by the reservation clerk, very quiet. The two beds in the bedroom were comfortable, but the pull out couch was not. The location was wonderful for shopping, ethnic restaurants, the art gallery and transportation by bus around the city. Parking fee was reasonable, under the hotel, secure and spotlessly clean. We would stay again but choose a room with three beds.

    4
« Great location. Nice inside »

The hotel is about a 20minute walk to a lot of nice areas like Gastown, English Bay and the port to take the sea-bus. There are restaurants and bars along Granville to go to as well. The hotel was very clean and fairly quiet.

« Chateau in Mid Town »

After having a dispute with another hotel chain, my wife and I decided to stay at the Best Western Chateau Granville. As far as location is concerned not right in the middle of Downtown but close enough with plentiful easy cheap public transport, to all the mainstream tourism sites, also an easy walk. After a 3 flights from Sydney to San Francisco ( 14hrs 40 mins) , ( 5-hour layup) 2 hour fight to Vancouver and a 30 minute taxi trip to the hotel, my wife and I were just about in "Zombie Land". We were warmly welcomed by Aleah, I think that was the spelling of her name, we made our way to our room. The room was very comfortable for what we wanted. The hardest part is understanding the "upside down" switches for the lights and using the shower, which we soon got used to. Had a meal in Edge Restaurant, attached to the hotel. Good quality food, reasonably priced. The next morning we had breakfast. Cynthia attended to us with a warm welcome and attended to our requests and asked the appropriate questions as far as choices. We enjoyed Cynthia's company for the bulk of our stay and missed for a few mornings when Cynthia was on I believe Conference Duty. We stayed at the Chateau for just on 9 nights, and ALL of the staff attended to our questions and requests with a smile and support. Special mention for TOTAL Customer Service, to Aleah, Danny (Concierge) always with a smile and a hello, and the Duty Manager on our last day who promptly checked out our room so we could get our cash bond back, so we could return to Sydney. Would definitley if coming back to Vancouver stay there. Allan C

« Staff deserves a Plus, Hotel does not »

The staff here were friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. They were able to suggest some great things in the area to do, assist with taxi information, and they are more than willing to exchange USD to CAD after you spend all of your money on nearby Robson Street! We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which was spacious and comfortable. However, the setup of the suite isn't the greatest. There's a large desk that's blocking the fridge area. If someone is sitting at the desk they will have to move to allow access to the fridge. There is only one air conditioning unit for the entire suite so the temperature fluctuates between the main area and the bedroom. The biggest gripe I had about the room is the cleanliness. At first glance the room looks clean. But if you look closer, there is dirt and grime in the corners, especially in the bathroom. There were also little bugs in the bathroom. I informed the front desk clerk who said he would leave a note for housekeeping but did recommend that I be the one to make it known as the hotel will respond much faster to customer comments than his notes (so I'm making it known on Trip Advisor! I also left a note in the room though just in case). The location of the hotel also isn't the best. As others have reported, it is across of a sex store, there's numerous homeless people all along the street, and there are several bars and strip clubs in the area. I would NOT walk around at night. There are always cabs parked in front of the hotel- use them at night, even if you're only going down the street! We saw some scary things happening when we ventured out one night. It is unfortunate that the hotel condition and location is poor because the staff are great. I probably would try another hotel the next time I'm in Vancouver.

    « Perfect downtown location! »

Quick, friendly check in. Awesome location. Many convenience stores and restaurants close by. Room super clean. King bed very comfortable. Large screen tv. Keurig coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge. Secure underground parking extra charge. Would definitely stay here again!

    3
    « very average »

The hotel is in a convenient location. Rooms are OK, maybe a little old and not great value for money. Overall the hotel and it's facilities are nothing impressive. The 2 bellmen that were on duty during my stay were exceptionally friendly though and definitely made a difference in my view of the hotel.

    2
    « Not for families »

The hotel is across the street from a peep show, there is a strip club on the next block, and the night time is full of sirens and yelling. Wouldn't want your kids to walk in this area, even during the day. The parking garage is almost impossible for vans and trucks to get into. The best part is the gym in the hotel. No pool though. Most of the staff seemed overworked. Had to wait a long time to check in. The boy at the bell desk was the most friendly and helpful staff in the hotel. We had to change rooms because someone had smoked in the first room we were given. Otherwise, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the small fridge was helpful.

    3
    « INteresting stay. »

This hotel is right in the heart of Shopping and Club life. Multiple clubs down the street, and fun restaurants That being said... it is loud at night. The hotel however provides ear plugs, which was nice :) The place where the hotel is situated though... there is a strip club down the street, and an Adult store kiddy-corner from the hotel. Just an interesting atmosphere. The restaurant connected to the hotel was great.

    5
    « Good overall experience »

Having stayed in Vancouver before we were aware of the location of the hotel. Just a 10-15 minute walk to downtown and the port. Breakfast and dinner was good value and very good. Would be happy to recommend to others and would definitely consider staying here again on future visits.

    4
« Best Location and Bellman »

The hotel staff were all very friendly and the rooms were very clean. We especially liked the bellman named Drew who was very helpful each day we stayed. He was honest and humoured us as well. Overall an excellent location to all the attractions - Stanley park, Gastown - a short bus ride, Rogers Arena, Aquabus ferry, Granville island, Sunset beach and excellent bars and restaurants only a short walk away. We will definitely be back !

  • 5
    « I would stay here again »

The staff was very helpful and friendly. At the bell desk, Drew and Deiniol were very helpful and gave us great advice for getting around. This is close to Granville Island. Do as Deiniol suggested take the aquabus to Granville Island. The walk is long and a little scary across the bridge. Our room was large and comfortable. The bedroom was separate from the sitting area. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave. This Best Western does not provide free breakfasts, but they do have room service and a restaurant downstairs. This was the largest Best Western that I ever stayed at. Lots of restaurants around the hotel.

    3
« Pleasant stay in the city »

My friend and I enjoyed our stay on Granville. The amenities were sufficient and the suite had two large flat screen televisions. The rooms were clean and kept clean over our two night stay. Each room has a balcony. Unfortunately ours faced a building under construction and overlooked the roof of an unattractive old building. I also thought that for the price, the shower could be much nicer. There were cracks in the tiles and the grout could use a good scrub. Overall we enjoyed our time here but I think I would choose to stay elsewhere next time.

    3
« Party Time on Granville Avenue »

If you are young or very young at heart and love to party hard (millennial style), then you would LOVE this hotel on a Friday or Saturday night. We found out by hearing the party scene outside our room window (even though we were on a top floor). Not much sleeping for us Saturday night. Otherwise the one bedroom suite was acceptable in a three-star style. Popcorn ceilings. Need for refurbishing. Breakfast was generous. We found out everyone asks for a top floor, quiet room. So we got the top floor, but wrong side of the hotel. the hotel is good for families and heavy sleepers.

    4
« good value, very impressed »

Stayed for 1 night recently for business trip. Myself and colleagues were very impressed with the size of the rooms, quality of the accomodations and the amenities provided. Staff were efficient and friendly. Having a large room with balcony, separate bedroom and sitting area was unexpected but very nice.Facing the back of the building was quiet all night. Location was convenient to everything, and underground parking for an additional fee was available. I used the fitness room and ate breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, both very good.

    5
    « A very good all-round experience »

Hotel prices in downtown Vancouver are really high. The Chateau Granville was really good value. The prices were reasonable and the suites were very spacious - with separate lounge with desk and bedroom. The restaurant downstairs also had friendly and efficient waiters and good quality and value food. The hotel is within walking distance of all in downtown Vancouver, even though it is not on the Waterfront itself.

    5
    « Great find »

Great location, great staff, great lounge and restaurant, what more can I say. Oh yes our room is fantastic. We will stay here again the next time we are in Vancouver and will recommend it to our friends !

    « Nice »

This is a pretty convenient location. Room was good. The corridors slightly dingy. Staff friendly and helpful. The Edge restaurant here is really good. You can easily walk to lot of nearby restaurants especially in Yaletown.

    « Good hotel »

This hotel has several offers which cannot be booked over the internet. I found this very annoying as we were trying to book from England and they could not seem to understand that I could not just use a Freephone to discuss the details with them, and of course, I had to ring to give credit card details instead of going through the Best Western site. We stayed one night before a cruise & three nights after. The hotel itself and the rooms are very nice and the area around is Ok with some nice restaurants and pubs nearby. We particularly liked the Two Parrots & White Spot. Unfortunately, there are some extremely seedy, shops & clubs nearby too, and quite a few people sleeping on the streets although we never felt threatened. It was very easy to walk everywhere from the hotel with a HOHO bus stop outside. The only bottled water in the room was to be paid for and the coffee machine had only four pods. If you wanted more you had to pay. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and it was just OK. The service was terrible even through there were only half a dozen people in the room. Our companion never did get a glass of water to take tablets with. This bad service was repeated when we called in for a drink later that night. We were patently ignored whilst the two bar men carried on a conversation and only with reluctance, eventually served us. We did not go back The two concierge were outstanding and went out of their way to help with luggage, directions, taxis etc.

    « Great location »

We were 3 adults travelling and were given a suite with 2 beds and a sofa bed... Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Lots of space to unpack and relax. Front desk and reception service was excellent. Within walking distance of bustling area with dwntown mall and a great restaurant attached to the hotel. Would definately stay there again.

    « Great location »

Good hotel locates in downtown Vancouver. You can walk to everywhere and this makes it very convenient. The room was nice and spacious and the balcony was nice too. We didn't go to the restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay. Convenient to everything . Friendly staff. We truly enjoyed our stay after an Alaska cruise and to see more of Vancouver . The restaurant was a plus, but there was a pastry shop just down the street that was wonderful. Delicious apple strudel :)

« Do not stay at this hotel ! »

Do not stay at this hotel! Elevator constantly breaking down, I've been here twice and both times this happened. Decor dated in the room I stayed in and had a funny smell. There was garbage under my bed that never was clean up in the 9 days that we stayed in the room. And the kicker, I stayed in this hotel in April and was not billed for it until 6 months later, with zero communication for the hotel, and my gift card I had provided them was not used. Do not stay at this hotel!

« Good Location, well situated hotel »

Hotel is in a good area with local transport links, short distance to gas lamp area, Chinatown, Grinville Island. Davie street close by has good local eating places for breakfast, this is the LGBT area. Hotel is nice, slightly lacking on housekeeping, which is hopefully being addressed, rooms are a lot smaller than USA rooms, we had a king suite which was very small, be aware, but are nicely fitted out

My husband and I stayed her for 3 days before our cruise and were very, very pleased with our lovely and comfortable suite. The beds were comfortable, the maid service excellent and the hotel personel very friendly and helpful. Drew, the hotel bellman was an absolute angel and most helpful in answering all of our questions pertaining to this beautiful city. We would definitely rate this a number 10 plus and stay no where else while in Vancouver. (Don't forget to take good care of Drew. He deserves it!)

    « Awesome customer service »

We had booked at Howard Johnson down the street and had nothing but trouble and they told us to ask at Best Western for parking..who sends you to the completion? Best thing they could have done as we ended up transferring hotels. Ralph and Bruce (Manager) had not only fit us in on short notice but upgraded us as we had such a bad experience at HJ. They were awesome, room was great, clean and huge.

    « Sleepless in Vancouver »

I recently stayed at this location with my Mother for our annual Mother/ Daughter weekend. While the room was adequate (although the fridge froze our food) the noise at night was awful and we both had little sleep. Significant sound proofing needs to be added to these rooms. I wouldn't stay there again.

At the Chateau Granville you will get value for your money, a great location and friendly "natural" service at the Reception and Restaurant. During a couple of my stays this was proven to me over and over again.

« Great location and very nice. »

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a king size bed and room with balcony. The room was very spacious and nice. There was a restaurant within the hotel and that was very convenient for us. I thought the prices for breakfast were a bit expensive but after ordering breakfast the first day, we realized how generous the portions were. The entire staff including restaurant were most helpful. Cabs were very easy to access and it seemed to be a great location to get back and forth to places we toured. I would certainly stay here again if we are in the area.

    « 2 nights stay »

We booked into this hotel as it seemed central for Vancouver and all the amenities. It's a large, quite nice hotel. Perhaps a bit dated but clean and well equipped. Our room had a balcony. The photos on the website are very misleading. It is at the rough end of Granville Street and to get to it from the railway station we passed peep shows, night clubs, strip joints. There were any number of rough sleepers and pan handlers who asked for money all the time. There was drug paraphernalia and vomit in a couple of places. I know this probably happens everywhere in any big city. We were on the 14th floor and so had a good view of Granville Street at night which of course looks very colourful. It meant we were also out of the range of the late night fights, police sirens, possible gunshots and brawls that woke us both nights we were there . Whilst the hotel was ok and clean and the staff polite and helpful I would be very reluctant to return. Sorry.

    « Good »

Good location although some may say Granville Street is dicey. I walked back to my hotel at ten from Yaletown.. No problem. I did not visit Granville St at all. Room: Excellent. Although as a female traveling alone I was put into a room with access to a beautiful and shared outside terrace. Beer can outside that door in the morning. BUT... Just don't stay in the floor.. The suite was great! Nice staff and clean and safe underground parking. Good walking distance for several things. I am fussy and I would recommend this hotel.

« Excellent hotel but location is not family friendly »

Well the hotel and staff are really good. Well cleaned and serviced despite old building. No swimming pool though. Rooms are cleaned and well maintained. We had breakfast at the hotel Restaurant and liked it. Problem we faced is the down town night life and there are many R and worse rated clubs which we didn't think is a nice place for family vacation. Traffic is also a problem in downtown.

    « Nice hotel »

Clean rooms, friendly staff and useful to have restaurant next door. Location for us wasn't the best as there are adult shops & clubs all around the hotel and the area seemed quite rough - not great with young children. Due to the area it was also very noisy at night, police sirens and shouting etc. Hotel itself was good.

    « Wow ! »

This hotel is amazing !! We were lucky enough to get assigned the top floor ! The room was beautiful, bed HUGE and the view lovely over the city, especially when lit up at night time. Facilities great; offering a modern, clean gym and a very nice restaurant on the bottom floor. Close to Gastown and Yaletown and not a far walk to Granville Island or Stanley Park. (We do love to walk though) Close to the train station which was fantastic when coming from the airport.

    « Great location »

We stayed at this hotel in downtown Vancouver just one night while in the city to go to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. It was just a 15 minute walk each way on well lighted, populated streets so it was a good choice for that. The hotel is very clean, modern and has good staff. It has secure parking for an extra fee of about 16$ per night. Wifi is free and quite good strength. We had breakfast at The Edge restaurant, part of the hotel. It was very reasonable and very god service ad food. I walked to the Pacific Centre to shop and again an easy walk in the afternoon. There are lots of restaurants around for dinner. We went to the Banana Leaf on Davie Street and again walked. We would definitely stay here again. It was perfect or a visit to downtown Vancouver. My only complaint would be only 2 very slow clunky elevators for 15 floors. A few times we had to wait as elevators came and went full of families with all their luggage. We had a gorgeous view from the 15th floor! It was also a very quiet hotel. Soundproofing was good :)

« Good enough, but could use a refresh »

The location of the hotel is very convenient, but the area is a bit dodgy as it's in area where gentrification has started, but hasn't gotten all the way there. The staff is helpful and friendly, the room was clean and spacious, and the rates for a downtown hotel are reasonable. The rooms are in dire need of a refresh. From the phone in the bathroom that's straight out of a time capsule to the hostel-like hallways, it's clear there hasn't been a significant update since it was built. It's surprising that such large rooms had doubles rather than queens, and the mattresses are on the uncomfortable side of firm. I probably would not stay here again, though that's also because I probably would not stay in downtown Vancouver again. Transit has improved to the point where it's easy enough to stay in a nicer area without missing out on the city's main attractions. It's no longer worth paying a significant premium to stay in a part of town that is sketchy at best.

« Nice rooms, seedy area. »

The room was very nice although could use an update starting to get a little shabby. The hotel staff was excellent and very helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was really great for breakfast. We had drinks and a snack on the patio in front of the restaurant after a long day around Vancouver, very nice. The street the hotel is on is probably populated with more homeless, vagrant, drug using bums than any area we saw except between Gas town and China town. They use every other doorway as an outside urinal. The rest of the city is great. It is obvious that the city cares more about leaving the vagrants alone than keeping the city clean and nice for the residents who pay their salaries.

« A great family hotel with superb service and good location »

For a family reunion before and after a Disney cruise, we took four rooms before and after the cruise. I highly recommend this hotel for other couples and families vacationing in Vancouver. It is great value for money. The suites are extremely comfortable and spacious, which is very helpful for families. The staff service is flawless. We had a lost bag and Drew Sargent the duty manager volunteered to resolve the problem with the airline, which he succeeded in doing within the hour, letting us not lose valuable family time. The other front desk staff is especially helpful. Requests for Pack and Play beds for toddlers was responded to immediately. The Edge restaurant attached to the hotel has excellent food, reasonably priced. Special thanks to Odra for great service in the morning, and for Melvin taking care of us at lunch. Philip Bryant, sales manager, did an excellent job coordinating our room requests which totaled ten nights.

« Really nice Best Western! »

More upscale Best Western than most. They were in the process of some renovation off the front lobby but no real problem. Our room was comfortable and clean with a beautiful view of Vancouver. Restaurant right off lobby where we had a good breakfast. Excellent concierge who went the extra mile!

« Beautiful hotel in a 'seedy' area »

the hotel was beautiful and the front desk staff very friendly but I cannot recommend the hotel because of the location. While walking to find a restaurant for dinner the smell of marijuana was very strong. The 'locals' appeared to be mostly homeless street folks. Not to judge them, but not a comfortable situation especially with a small child. I booked the hotel to use my air miles but never got to use them and had to pay full price because I changed my arrival date. Apparently this is not an option available when booking with air miles. I will be contacting air miles to see if I can get my travel miles back. I had booked a room with two queen beds but was given a room with two double beds.

« We had a great stay at this hotel. »

Wonderful view from the 9th floor and the room was clean and very spacious. Loved the fact each room is a suite with separated living room accommodations. Could use an update one day though. We enjoyed the breakfast in the restaurant and the waitress was wonderful.

« A beautiful city with so much to do »

A good comfortable hotel which was chosen primarily because of the room configuration as we were travelling with our two teenage girls. It is based no more than a 10 minute walk from the main shopping area and art gallery. Service from the hotel staff was first class. If you don't enjoy walking buses & trams stop outside the hotel and provide easy access all over the city. The location may not suit those with younger families as Vancouver does attract a number of vagrants albeit we were never threatened or felt uncomfortable. A beautiful city which we will willingly return to and would be happy to re-visit this hotel.

    2
« Noise you and uncomfortable »

There was construction in the hotel as well as across the street. The beds were uncomfortable and the pull out practically unusable. Disappointing for the price we paid. I will say the staff was very accommodating and helpful. We probably won't stay there again

    « Family reunion bliss »

My wife and I were here with our son and grandson and 30 other family members for a six-day family. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the location was right in the middle of town. There are a few sketchy areas on Granville but nothing to be afraid of. The food in the restaurant was excellent as well. The only minor complaint I have is we were not allowed to have wine or alcohol in the reunion conference room.

Accumented all age groups well, also handled changes in group plans well. They helped guide us to trips and local scenary, but we had other plans availavible. Some of our younger parents needed additional items for their children and staff. handled it well..

    « Good value »

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to a cruise out of Vancouver, then for 2 nights upon our return from the cruise. The hotel was a good value as we have 5 people and needed one room. All of the rooms appear to be suites, with a sitting area that has a fold out sofa, and then a bedroom. It gave us plenty of space to spread out. We also had a balcony on both of our rooms that was nice to stand on and look out at the city. One room we had faced Granville Ave, and they provided ear plugs for the street noise at night, although we did not need them. The rooms are basic - nothing fancy. The beds are not all that comfortable, but NOT uncomfortable either. The room was clean and has a fridge. The air conditioners do not work well. The sitting area stayed cool, but the bedrooms in both of the rooms we had were extremely hot and stuffy. We ate at The Edge, which is the restaurant connected to the hotel. It was very good and the service was excellent.

This hotel has great location, good size rooms, comfy beds, yummy restaurant and friendly staff. If you are going to a concert, hockey or football game or just want to site see, this hotel is close to everything! Not to mention the awesome food at the restaurant! I highly recommend this hotel.

« Comfort , views and friendly staf »

As we were staying in Vancouver for a few days, we didn't book any hotel in advance. Driving by the best western, we stopped and inquired for vacancies. We needed 2 rooms on the same story and the staff was extremely helpful. We had 2 beautiful , clean and very pleasant rooms on the 15th floor. What a view ! The mattress was very comfortable, linen was fresh, bathrooms are in excellent shape. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Vancouver. Price wise ? One of the most affordable in the area.

« Confortable in the downtown »

Great location, comfortable room and bed!! In the middle of the Yaletown you can visit very interesting touristic and gourmet locations, by walking the surroundings. You can get the Waterfront and False Creek in a few minutes. The bed is carefully prepared for a good rest after a long day of exploring Vancouver

    « Great Long Weekend »

First time in Vancouver and we were not disappointed!! We were happily surprised to find that we were upgraded to a suite with a balcony overlooking the city when we arrived on Wednesday night. Very clean and spacious. The hotel is in a great location, you can easily walk to many attractions in about 20 minutes or less. I cannot say enough great things about the staff - they were very friendly and knowledgeable, had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do, and concierge had a coupon and map for just about everything you might want to do! If you are visiting Vancouver for the first time and not sure where to stay, this is the place!!

« Good balance of quality and value »

Had not stayed at this BW before. Great location and a spacious suite room for a reasonable price by Vancouver standards. Walking distance to all sorts of things. Indoor parking was slightly awkward to access from a laneway, but otherwise just fine. On-site restaurant was good. Service was good throughout, except at checkout when the desk was busy with early arriving check-ins and express checkout had not been offered. All in all very good.

« Premium Suite Hotel - 100% Carbon Netural ecoStay »

We arrived on July 25, 2016 on an early flight for 3 nights. We left our bags and explored Vancouver city, the waterfront, and enjoyed a delicious lunch before returning at 330pm to get our room. Our room was 1109 a premium 2 double bed suite with a separate sitting area, refrigerator, microwave. Coffee machine with complementary coffee/tea. There was a sofa bed, coffee table, desk and chair. The bathroom was a bit small, but clean with lots of towels. The usual hotel shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and soap was complementary. The view was not the greatest as it overlooks the back alleyway of the hotel. The cleaning staff did a great job of cleaning the room and everything was great. Free high speed wireless was also included. I didn't give 5 stars, as I think breakfast should of been included for the price charged.

    4
« Good service and food »

We enjoyed our stay. Booked a suite which was great to have the bedroom separate to lounge room - the extra space was great. Nice to have a balcony you could get out on and look at the lights of Vancouver. The Edge Restaurant was good for breakfasts and dinners, the service and food were really good.

    « More like 3 1/2 stars »

Not the first time we have stayed here. We love the location, so close to Yaletown and amazing shops and restaurants. The location is also very good for walking downtown and although it does have its characters, it is a great neighbourhood. Service is great and rooms are older but clean and roomy. I would only say 31/2 stars because to me 5 is perfect so 4 is fabulous and this hotel is very good for what it is. But I have to say, it was very pricey, probably because of the time of year.

« Good place to stay prior to cruise »

Stayed here prior to our cruise to Alaska. Excellent hotel, within walking distance of everything, a lot of nice park area to the southwest and northwest, although a few blocks directly north of the hotel is pretty seedy.

« Wonderful staff, room and restaurant right in Yaletown »

We enjoyed our stay at Chateau Granville! My son and had 4 nights (double suite) and my daughter and her husband had 3 nights (king suite). Our rooms were quiet even my daughter's was next to the elevator and ice machine - that says a lot! Both suites were clean, fresh and had comfortable beds/pillows. The carpet and tile in the bathroom were a bit outdated, but were fairly well maintained and clean. Well located - many awesome restaurants, shops and the ocean were very close. Can rent bikes at several places near by. Rodney's Oyster Bar on Hamilton is a must eat at! Staff was super nice, very helpful and really enjoyed our breakfasts everyday at the Edge! Great value stay and we would stay again!!

« Very nice hotel, good staff, comfortable rooms »

We had a wonderful stay at the BW Chateau Granville. The hotel was beautiful, the beds comfortable, and the restaurant on site had great food and beer choices! The staff was pleasant, answered all our questions we had. It was within walking distance to Granville Island and a short cab ride to Canada Place (where we got off our cruise ship). You can easily walk to GasTown from Canada Place as well. The only thing that could have made it better for us was if they had a shuttle to and from Canada Place and the Airport (even at a price). This would be a nice extra that would have been a great convenience but definitely not a necessity. They did make the arrangements for a cab pickup to the airport for us, which was nice...We really enjoyed our stay!

    3
« Great staff, nice room, ropey neighbourhood »

We stayed in the hotel at the start of a 3 week trip. The staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant, and the room was clean, fresh and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are also good. However, that area of Granville Street feels a bit uncomfortable - more people on the streets and under the influence of various substances than we saw elsewhere in the city. As we were jetlagged we were not out late, but I don't think I'd fancy walking in that area late at night.

    2
« Poor Service in the City »

From Whistler, stayed in this hotel overnight for my flight going back to the Philippines the following day. Location of the hotel is pretty scary because there were so many unlikely characters around the area since this is near clubs. Too far from the bus stop where our bus from Whistler stopped. My aunt and I walked very long dragging my luggage. When we got to the lobby of the hotel, the staff didn't smile. She looked at me, gave her my name for my reservation. Handed me my room key, said a few things that I didn't understand because it seems she's in a bad mood. All I heard clearly was my room number and that's my key. Then, nothing. Not even to offer help for our luggage. The room we stayed is clean and space is just about right to roam around. Big bed, good smelling sheets but the view is awful. I like the bathroom though, especially the controls for the toilet bowl. Because of the vicinity where this hotel is located and the staff's attitude, I will never stay in this hotel at Vancouver again.

« Good bits and bad bits »

I found this one difficult to review........read on. The hotel is well located - good service, good restaurant and close to other restaurants, 20 min walk to the Fly-Over, opposite a mini supermarket etc The rooms are resonably spacious, very comfortable beds and have good pillows (although 8 is way too many) and great city views. BUT......the bathroom is very tired (stone benchtops are new but everthing else is dated the 70-80's), my towel was so worn that it ripped. The air con is very noisy, however, they supply ear-plugs!! There is a microwave in the room, but no plates or cutlery. There are straws but no spoons for coffee making - very weird. There is a bar fridge but no drinks or snacks for purchase. There is an ice bucket but no glasses. The coffee machine was positioned so high that I had to stand on a chair to see inside (I am 175cm tall). We were on the 14th floor and I think any lower would have got traffic noise. They had so many little notifications scattered all over the room that you couldn't put your stuff down without moving it all first. They promote being "environmentally friendly" but they should start with reducing all the unnecessary paperwork!!

    « Special staff »

I needed help while in Vancouver. Traveling as a senior solo traveler, sometimes logistics don't work out easily for me. I tried several places to help me with special arrangements, and when I got in touch with Rebecca at this hotel, she listened to what I needed, and arranged for me to get the help I needed from her hotel. I arrived there and Drew, the concierge was ready to help me. I was greeted kindly and taken care of. I can't thank these two people for all they did to make my short stay in Vancouver a success!

    3
« Comfortable stay though property looks and feels old »

Within easy walking distance to most places I needed to go to - Robson Street, CF Pacific Place, Hyatt Hotel (where the Sea-to-Sky downtown shuttle pick-up was) etc. Nearest Aquabus stop to go to Granville Island from is at Hornby Street and that is easily reached with less than 10 min of walking. Gentleman named Drew at the concierge knows everything and is amazingly helpful - what a delight!

« Best Western Plus Chateau Granville Hotel & Suites in Vancouver, BC, Canada »

A truly excellent hotel with old fashion class and elegance. The restaurant, conveniently located in the hotel, is superior in all respects. I enjoyed one of the best omelets I have ever had and home fried potatoes were to notch. This was our first stop on a Princess Cruise Lines Cruise Tour to Alaska. The trip could not have started more perfectly.

    « Really good base »

Really good place to stay - although the street it is on makes you think what have I come to!! However it was only the one small area outside the hotel which was a bit rough. Room was nice, staff were excellent and you can get to lots of places easily from here. Only thing I would suggest would be a few more complimentary items such as a few free bottles of water. There was water in the room but was expensive!

    3
    « CONVENIENT LOCATION »

I had a king suite which was really a lot bigger (and more expensive) than what I needed. I picked this hotel because it was the closest to where my friends were staying in the Holiday Inn which was totally booked. The location was the best thing about the hotel. The worst thing is that my room smelled like someone had smoked in it.

    3
« Decent hotel, perhaps not worth the rate »

I had a good stay at the Best Western on Granville St. The staff were especially good, always friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean, and it had a great view of the city. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable. I'm not sure it was worth the steep price tag, but I guess that hotels are expensive in this area in the summer.

« The Staff take this place from Good to Great »

This is my second time staying here. I chose it again because I remembered how kind and helpful the staff was and the location. Good news, the location is till the same. Good, central, close to a lot of restaurants and easy access to transit. In my last review I stated how comfortable the beds were, that too is the same. I would suggest one thing and that is update the plug ins. My phone charger kept falling out of not one but two plugs, I'm not sure if that's a hazard but it was annoying. Also the number of plugs. Most hotels have plugs in the base of their lamps, maybe they could update and do that because most times I had to leave my phone on the floor to charge. Now saying this it's not a reason to avoid this hotel just something I noticed. The concierge staff is amazing, the day time man Drew was very helpful in tips for things to do, how to get there, points of interest along the way. The evening man was always smiling and very polite. One change I noticed that I found very helpful was a card asking what exactly we would like the chambermaid to do. I like this because many times I have not put the towels down for changing yet they did. This add makes communicating with staff very effective. The front desk staff was also very helpful, trying their hardest to answer all questions. I will return to this hotel on my next trip to Vancouver and I hope to see the same happy helpful faces.

Very comfortable room. We stayed in the Executive Suite. The restaurant, Edge, offers exceptional service, and, delicious fare of several types. I highly recommend the Meat Lovers Omelet for breakfast. The room, and, all amenities are very well kept. The Concierge cannot do enough for you. We will definitely stay here again.

Have stayed here numerous times over the last 2-3 years. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. The very spacious, extremely comfortable suites are great for extended stays while working on the road. Hotel Location is superb for getting around Vancouver, particularly walking. Transit very close to front of hotel

    « Holiday Break »

Had a nice suite on the 10th floor; it had everything we needed for our stay. For us it was in a good downtown location as we could walk to most areas or take the water taxis to get about. Yaletown was close by with its bars and restaurants, so it was handy for a night out.

« Not that great for what you pay for. »

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel had a very 'old apartment' feel to it. The rooms were reasonable size with a balcony facing construction of another building so it was noisy and not a great view. The beds were okay and we didn't realized we paid for 2 twins bed so a bit less room than we're accustomed with. The pillows were comfortable. The shower and bathroom was mediocre. The elevator vibrated every time we used it. No free breakfast and the continental breakfast is priced at $12. Just walk to Tim Hortons a couple blocks down no problem. BE WARNED that right across the hotel there's an XXX store with peep shows so caution when you are travelling with children. Also, there's a strip club that you have to walk past before you get to Tims. There's under ground parking so your vehicle is secure but you have to pay for the parking which is $12. We thought it would be included in the hotel price but no. Free wifi with your own password. I didn't think it was the best location and value is mediocre at best. Some of the reception were nice some were pretentious.

    « Highly recommended »

My wife and I were on a round trip from Calgary to Vancouver and return through June and july 2016. We planned to stay in Vancouver for three nights. From start to finish we found this hotel excellent. It is in the perfect place (Downtown) to visit so many places within walking distance. When we first arrived we were greeted by a young man who was not only polite and courteous but very helpful. Not having visited Vancouver before we asked him about the transport system. Not only did he provide us with maps but also printed out a step-by-step route of how to get to one place (Queen Elizabeth Park). We had a suite on the top (15th) floor and everything was perfect - the room was clean and bright and the bed was very comfy. The only thing we found odd was that there were two bottles of water in the room for which they wanted to charge CAD3.25 each. Most other hotels we stayed in during our 16 day tour gave complimentary water to guests. The adjoining restaurant (The Edge) was very good for breakfast. You can also have dinner there but I would recommend any of the many eating places in Downtown or the surrounding areas, there's lots to choose from. All-in-all a very enjoyable stay and we would not hesitate to return here if we ever visit Vancouver again.

    « Great 2 night stay »

Very good 2 night stay, clean room, central location, safe underground parking (extra fee). We parked the car and walked the core for 2 days. Hotel is within walking distance to Robson Street and a 15-20min walk to GasTown and the Port. Lots of shopping and eateries.

    « Fantastic Accommodations for a Family »

Stayed overnight at the Best Western before taking a cruise. The suite was large (one room had a sofa, television, fridge, and desk, and the other had two beds) with a balcony overlooking the city. The sofa bed was more comfortable than the one I slept on during the cruise. Staff is very friendly, and the restaurant had a very good breakfast (I recommend the West Coast Salmon Benedict).

« Nice hotel in a convenient location »

Hotel is a nice hotel in a good location. Accessible to Granville Island and a fairly long walk downtown. Very active area at night with a lot of bars / clubs in the area and homeless people sleeping on Granville Street. Staff was helpful and friendly and the restaurant on the premises was fine. Parking on-site for a fee is convenient and safe. Two room suite was spacious and clean. No overall issues with this hotel.

    « Great Hotel »

I haven't stayed at a Best Western in decades so was a bit leery of booking here. But to my surprise this was a wonderful room! Decent size bedroom and a great sized sitting room with a balcony. Looks like they recently remodeled as there was newer carpet and furniture. Bathroom is decent size but does need a bit of updating. Had refrig/microwave/Kurig. Location is not the best place. Across the street is a XXX place and the area is a bit seedy. Homeless people are around and lay on the sidewalks. At no time did I feel unsafe but I wouldn't want to stay in this area again. There is a restaurant attached which had good food.

« Nice large room, very clean »

We really like the junior suite style of the room. Room well equipped with little refrigerator and microwave in a cabinet. The room and the washroom were very clean. The hotel is very well situated downtown Vancouver.

« Great hotel with easy garage self-park »

Room was great with separate sleeping and living areas. Easy to find and park. Some of the area surrounding the hotel is questionable....homeless in doorways and adult shops very near the hotel, but a nice little local market across the street next to Templeton's...an old fashioned diner that was pretty good.

    2
    « Disappointed »

The Hotel is drab and tired, depressing brown furnishings are very unappealing. Carpets and room smelt musty and unpleasant. Noisy and undesirable location. Can't say anything positive especially after staying at another nearby hotel the week before which was very good. Best Western needs to uphold their standard!

« Great Location nice Hotel »

Great location on Granville street in central Vancouver. Within walking distance of all the major sights. Very comfortable large rooms with conformable beds. Rooms have tea and coffee making facilities which are handy and lovey balcony's which is particularly nice to get a view of the city. Definitely include breakfast in your stay as it wasn't too much extra and you get a full Canadian breakfast included which makes it great value. Hotel has underground parking and a gym. We also used the Vancouver skytrain to get to and from the airport, you can walk from the skytrain station to the hotel within 7 minutes and the cost to go oneway to the airport is only $8 much cheaper than a taxi and quicker too. I would stay in this hotel again and would recommend to anyone who is looking to visit Vancouver

« Comfortable lodging, strategic location »

We had an excellent stay. The beds were very comfortable and although our hotel is near a street that gets lively at night, we heard no street noises. Some might consider one of the nearby street environments as "dodgy" but we walked around those streets day and night and never had any problems. We just considered it part of the adventure. Staff were all very polite and friendly. Breakfast was a bit repetitive but was good. Parking fees are extra but not extremely expensive. Would enthusiastically stay here again!

    1
« Stay away!! The location is the only thing good! »

We are here now, front desk was extremely rude and unwelcoming! Our room reeks of OLD OLD carpet not sure if we will be staying the whole time or not! We aren't a fussy family but this hotel needs a good cleaning and new carpets! And Alana needs to smile!!

    4
    « Great Location »

As Always, I so enjoy anytime I can get back to Vancouver and this Hotel is always a place where I feel right at home in the center of the city. Close amenities and walking to great food, transit and everything one needs for a great stay in Vancouver, I can only hope you expereinces are half as good as mine over the years.

    3
« Good stay however... some improvements beneficial »

Decent hotel, decent area however not the best area for kids in the evening as some parts of Grandville are less than desirable. Hotel needs upgrades, rooms are out dated and tired. Most staff are nice and professional.

« Good location in the Heart of Downtown Vancouver »

Checked in early on a Thursday. Our room was ready. The front desk clerk was efficient. If our room had not been ready, they had offered to keep our luggage at the front desk while we jumped on the shuttle hop-on, hop-off city tour bus that stops outside their hotel. We were on the 17th floor I think. Our room was uniquely shaped. Very small but nice view of the city skyline with an outside patio. Clean and nice décor. The maître d on the first floor was very helpful and friendly. A bit noisy at night - we heard people shouting on the streets below but that's typical in a large city. We had dinner at the restaurant which was just average. Breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was not good and overpriced. Dried eggs, horrible sausages (really large - German style? or maybe Canadian style but as big as kielbasis - I was expecting Bob Evans style) and the toast was very dry and thick. The price of the room was reasonable.

« On the whole a good hotel »

We stayed for 2 nights, my initial opinion of Vancouver wasn't a good one as the area the hotel is in is a little rough although the hotel itself was very nice and comfortable. Unfortunately when we arrived we had trouble getting into the car park as there were road works round the hotel. We were on the 4th floor at the front but wished we had a room on a higher floor as the noise in the early hours with traffic and people was quite loud. My daughters were on the 3rd floor at the back and were woken by the building work going on, so presumably once that is complete it should be ok.

    3
« Good location and more ... yet for that price could be better »

Pro: Very good location for walking around. Train not far and many great restaurants near. High floor is great for view (see photo) and not to hear the setreets. Friendly staff. Con: The air condition in the room makes a lot of noise. When it is hot the AC is needed, yet, sleeping with the air condition on is not practical with such a noise. Almost all places we slept had a central quiet air-condition which in that level of price for the room sounds logical to have...

    « reasonable value »

location was good and room clean and comfortable booking was easy and they were able to accommodate our change easily. we rented bicycles from next door and were able to get to Stanley Park almost completely by bikepath. cab fare to/from waterfront less than $9

    5
« Very pleasant accommodation in downtown Vancouver »

I've been staying at the Chateau Granville for decades. It sustains it's excellence even though it's now a Best Western franchise. Disappointing that I was not granted Best Western credit on my (professional) husband's account because he was not registered as a guest as I was attending a Supreme Court hearing as a witness on one of his files with an Agent appearing on his behalf. Way too many restrictions to apply for Best Western membership status.

    « MY 2016 BIRTHDAY STAY »

What an amazing wonderful stay! our room was outstanding, staff very helpful and friendly lots of smiles :) We will stay at Chateau Granville every time we come to Vancouver ............thanks so much for making our stay very comfortable and safe

    5
    « Excellent location »

Staff was very helpful and efficient. Very clean hotel and location was excellent. With Drew's help we were able to do lot more things in and around downtown area. Our room was very clean and bright. Most of the sight seeing things were walking distance. Airport and Cruise Terminal were not too far from the hotel.

    4
« Good location and staff »

This is a great "affordable" option in downtown Vancouver. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We found our room adequate, but smaller than normal US standards. It suited our needs fine for 2 nights. If we were there longer, I would upgrade to a larger room. We did not encounter any noise issues and did not find the neighborhood scary or concerning. Yes, there are homeless people but they did not bother us. From one direction you find a lovely neighborhood with tiny restaurants and shops. Cabs are easily available and very reasonable. There is also a decent restaurant and lounge onsite. I would definitely consider staying at the same property.

    4
« Great overall experience, would return »

We recently spent four nights here and would definitely recommend. It's an older hotel but was well-maintained with some updates and most importantly, was clean and in good shape! It's a good home base for exploring Vancouver and while some reviewers have noted the "eclectic" nature of the area, I never felt unsafe (and we walked nearly everywhere except to Chinatown). The staff was terrific - in the restaurant and at the front desk - always smiling and helpful. Parking rates were reasonable for downtown Vancouver and we added the daily breakfast option which was great - made to order, not a buffet and you can substitute a lower-priced entree for the standard eggs/breakfast meat/toast/hash browns. There is currently nearby construction going on as other reviewers have noted, as well as some street noise (sirens, car horns, etc.) but we didn't find it so disruptive that it interrupted our sleep. The only downside was there are only two old and slightly creaky elevators which were very slow, and on our last day one went out so checkout was slower than usual since the one working elevator was so jammed. But overall, we'd return if our travels take us back to Vancouver.

    2
« Beware this is not a non smoking hotel »

As soon as we entered our room it was obvious it was a smokers room. As I suffer from acute sinus we asked the front desk staff to change rooms. We were told none were available...they said they would put an ionising In the room for hour an hour when we went for dinner. They denied it was a smoking room, and that smoking was only permitted on the balcony... The room absolutely reeked from smoke. The front desk staff were abrupt and unhelpful and really did not want to hear about our concerns. We had booked for three nights in a suite, so we're somewhat surprised.. The hotel is also in a very run down area of Vancouver, a lot of homeless people and addicts on the streets.

    4
    « Pete & Vicki »

Really enjoyed our stay, the room, service & food was excellent. Our only complaint was the construction noise from the building next door that was under construction. For us, staying three nights, maybe a room away from the noise would have been better.

    4
    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed here following a cruise. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Gave us excellent tourist advice and restaurant selections. Room was large, comfortable and clean with a nice view. Location is interesting. Kind of an eclectic area. Restaurant was excellent.

    3
    « Disappointed »

Location was disappointing as it was in a run down part of town. We selected this hotel because it had 2 beds and a pull out couch bed but we felt removed from all the action. If I could do it again I would have paid more and stayed near gastown which seemed much nicer. Concierge Drew was very helpful so Thank You Drew.

    « Love this hotel! »

Great room, free parking, free wifi, convenient location, great free breakfast!???? Staff could not be nicer!! Would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to friends and family members.

    3
« Perfectly adequate in downtown Vancouver »

Stayed on a business trip, my first time. My room was large with a bedroom and TV and a lounge area with TV, desk, couch, balcony etc. View of street below (Granville) which is not a particularly attractive area particularly after dark when the 'night time economy' kicks in. A bit of traffic noise, sirens, shouting into the early hours mostly at weekends. Sex shop opposite and occasional loiterers, not unpleasant just a bit tacky! Staff friendly and helpful, we did not eat here other than breakfast which was from a varied menu. Conference rooms we used on the ground floor rather spoiled by patrons of the bar/restaurant if we overlapped.

    5
    « Comfort and friendliness »

Had a lovely stay at the Best Western Chateau Granville in Vancouver. Rooms were generous in size, very comfortable and the hotel staff very friendly. Hotel has a nice bar and restaurant and a Fitness Suite. Hotel is ideally placed for shopping and for Granville Island for artisan shops and great restaurants - watch the sun go down of an evening from the harbour there. Free shuttle buses to local sightseeing places stop outside the hotel, so couldn't be better placed.

    5
    « Outstanding Customer Service »

Drew the bellman and Brie in The Edge lounge treated you better than being family. Drew was a very valuable source of information for things to do and acted as if there were no other problems to handle. Brie, the waitress/hostess in the Edge Lounge and Grill was very sweet, attentive and treated you as if she had no other customers to service.

« Good location, comfy beds »

Stayed here for 3 nights. Located at the upper end of Granville Street, bout 10-15 mins walk from waterfront. Friendly helpful staff. Good size rooms and king size, very comfortable beds. Stayed in 15th floor. No big noise problems. No kettle, or spoons in room. Coffee pod machine in room. Good size TV

    4
« One week plus stay »

Adjacent busy road but ideal for public transport. The room was very comfortable and clean and everything worked properly including bathroom / shower. From reception to leaving the staff were pleasant and very helpful. Good breakfast too!

    « Hotel with a great location »

We are enjoying our two night stay in a suite. The staff is so helpful. Bruce, the manager gave us tips for restaurants and activities. We took the train from the airport and walked 4 blocks to the hotel. The hotel is 10 blocks from the waterfront, near Gastown , and 6 blocks to the water taxi for the Public Market. Shopping and restaurants are nearby.

    5
    « Wonderful simply wonderful »

We stayed in this hotel 5 nights total. I was unsure if it when I booked. The service was fabulous. Everyone was so nice and helpful even when arriving at 1am. The rollaway was brought right up. Extra pillows- no problem. The restaurant was really good!! Yummy food! They have a cruise package where you get free breakfast. We had a slight issue with wifi and we had a guy in our room within 5 min helping us. Everyone was just so nice. Beds comfy. Location was ok- but the service made up for it. Kid friendly. Very small convenience store right across the street. Wonderful hotel would stay again!

    5
« Great location, great staff »

We stayed at Chateau Granville for five nights. Outstanding service and value for a hotel located in the center of downtown, very handy to Granville Island, Yaletown, and entertainment district. Easy to get around on the bus system or reasonably priced cabs. Had a 5th floor room with balcony looking at Granville Ave. Enjoyed a couple of meals in the restaurant as well.

    5
« great place to stay »

We stayed here for 5 nights in may. we were on the top floor (i think) facing the front and we had a balcony. the hotel is in a great location, and it was only about a 10 minute walk from the Skytrain station. even though it was a busy street outside, we slept like logs and its nice to see a bit of life. There were a lot of homeless people in the area, which makes me quite sad, but nobody bothered us at all. there is a stop for the Capilano suspension bridge shuttle right outside the hotel, and the shuttle is free!!!. i would stay here again, and would recommend it. The only thing i would change, is it would have better if there had been a couple of chair on the balcony so you could sit out there, it just seemed a bit of a waste :(

« Great place to stay! »

Picked this hotel off Trip Advisor because it had suites. We were not disappointed. The suite was nicely updated and comfortable. The downtown location was very convenient with underground parking for us. The first night we found our refrigerator was not working. Within five minutes a hotel staffer was in our room checking it out, and 10 minutes later the hotel manager himself was changing out our refrigerator because the maintenance guy had already gone home fir the day. The Fitness Center was spacious and very clean, well equipped with new high quality Matrix equipment. The Edge restaurant was very good with high quality food and professional staff. We were treated well by all staff and would stay here again when in Vancouver.

    « Ate here - no complaints »

Taking the trolley back to downtown from UBC we arrived at 8.30 PM and just went round the corner to this Best Western for a nice chicken teriyaki before turning in, having been recommended this place to eat by our nearby hotel. Very acceptable.

« One night at Chateau Granville »

Hotel is well situated downtown Vancouver. Stayed for conference. Cab ride from conference center was less than ten dollars. Clean room and beds. Quiet. Balcony and window that opened for fresh air. Just what you expect at Best Western Plus.

« Great location for a stay in Vancouver. »

We (two mature couples) chose this hotel for a 4-night stay in Vancouver and were very happy with our choice. Our rooms (suites) on the 9th floor were spacious, comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. Public transportation (trolleys and buses) going in all different directions was right at the front door, the stops for the on/off sightseeing buses were right there as well as a taxi stand. And, for those who like to go on foot exploring the surroundings - large numbers of restaurants, etc. are within very easy walking distance as well as are lovely residential areas with tree-lined streets and parks. Granville Island with all its attractions is nearby (walk is feasible, but a bit long) as well as the river with its tour boats and water taxis.

    4
« Pros and cons but mostly pros »

Our room, more like tiny apartment, had a very comfortable bed and even though the ice machine was just outside our door and a construction site next door, the room was quiet. The view in the living room was of the many skyscrapers, not a bay view but still pretty spectacular. The breakfast which you pay for is huge and delicious. The front desk and concierge and especially the older doorman are all very helpful and friendly. The hotel is centrally located. So what is the "con"? The immediate neighborhood. Lots of panhandlers and a sleazy "entertainment district." We came out one morning to a police wagon that had just loaded a screaming somebody. Since you usually are not in this area very long, it doesn't take much away from the many good aspects of this hotel.

    « Star Performance »

This has been our second stay at this property in one month. Without a doubt, the staff at this property went well above any expectation anyone could have for the type of stay I required! On virtually no notice they were able to accomodate me and my stepdaughter for an emergency stay which lasted two weeks during a very busy time. I received such compassionate care from the staff while my husband was in the hospital. A very stressful time for me and his daughter. A huge thanks to the Manager, Bruce, and all his staff for alleviating one more worry on me as to where I was going to stay during my husband's hospital stay. Four thumbs up!

« Excellent Staff ..... Quiet, Comfortable, Over Night Stay!! »

Flew into Vancouver for an overnight before we began a cruise out of Vancouver on the 29th. Good access from the airport. Upon arrival we found the staff to be friendly, professional and efficient in booking us in. We found our room to be clean, quiet , with a great view of the surrounding area . Was tremendously impressed with how helpful the staff were with regard to any of our questions re the surrounding area .... restaurants, grocery etc etc. Although breakfast was not included we did find the EDGE restaurant attached, although a little pricey, (no more, no less than other restaurants nearby) provided great service and good food choices. This applied as well, to supper the evening before. The concierge (Martin) was particularly helpful and accommodating on our day of departure ... added to the quality of this facility. It's close location to the cruise terminal, plus all of the above make this an ideal central location. Would return and would highly recommend this location without hesitation.

    « Very nice stay! »

I stayed here over night and enjoyed it. The room was super clean and massive, so plenty of space for luggage etc with all the necessary amenities. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom had plenty of space. The only down side of this hotel is the noise. Obviously it is very central in downtown Vancouver, which is good but its not great for the noise and I also had a balcony because my room was at the front of the building which had a great view but wasn't great for me because of noisy guests on other balconies. Also, the air con unit in the room is a bit noisy. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you can afford it!

« Wonderful first visit to Vancouver »

The Best Western Plus Chateau Granville Hotel & Suites was a fantastic place to stay. We flew into Vancouver the day before leaving on our cruise. The hotel is just minutes away from the cruise port. It is also in the entertainment center of Vancouver and surrounded by great restaurants. The Edge, a restaurant connected to the hotel, also has wonderful food and great service. Our room was simple but very comfortable and included all the amenities and complimentary items. The bed was super! The view was of the downtown and I was worried it would be noisy but it was not. The desk staff and bellhops went out of their way to make our stay easy and enjoyable including great recommendations on things to do and see. We highly recommend staying with Chateau Granville Hotel.

« Three day vacation at the Best Western Chateau Granville. »

We staid three days, had a wonderful time, thanks to well trained and dedicated personel. We staid in a suite with a view of downtown: it was comfortable, spacious, well equiped. The wifi service works well. there are also three computers available in the reception area, if needed.

« located in the Heart of Vancouver »

This hotel was clean, service was efficient, breakfast was not included in the room price but there was a sit-down restaurant where a good breakfast could be had. Most important was its location, which was in the heart of Vancouver. Many interesting sights, including China Town, were within walking distance.

    « You can't go wrong..... »

What a great hotel, clean, up to date, right in the middle of the city. The rooms are just perfect....separate sleeping area, with a sitting area, two televisions, immaculately clean. The area is noisy, but then again you are in a city! The hotel staff are extremely professional and efficient. Also this place is a good value for what you get!

    « Good Location »

Pleased with everything especially the bellmen who were very helpful and offered ideas as to what to do and where to go . Our suite had comfortable beds and pillows with a great view and fireworks! What more can one ask for!

    « A great place to stay »

Great large two roomed suite plus balcony. Very, very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble and both concierges were knowledgeable about the area and had useful tips. Would stay there again and again. Food was good also.

    « Good location »

Nothing but good things to say about this property. You get a Best Western upscale value here in a good location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room could have been cleaner. Parking is pretty funky though.

« Ron White night at the Orpheum »

We got a room for a comedy night at the Orpheum. I wanted a room with a padio and king size bed. This place was a great choice. The padio was so nice in the sun. The room was as expected. Nothing out of the ordinary. It was a quick and simple walk to the venue. We would do it again.

    4
    « Great downtown location »

Very pleasant place to stay: clean, stylish and friendly. Room was small but nicely decorated and had the work space and electronic outlets I needed. Only downside was a VERY hard bed. Loved the balcony!

    5
« Great location and staff »

The staff was excellent. Always helping you and giving key information to make your Vancouver trip was as good as you wanted. They printed bus routes, maps etc.and gave you tips on how to travel and make you save money. WOW! They were all great morning staff and night staff. The hotel is perfectly located central to everything. The rooms were clean, the beds and pillows comfortable, the desk area practical and the living room large. The balcony was nice since we had such lovely weather in Vancouver. There is construction going on a new building right next door, but it did not wake us up in the morning. Maybe there is an agreement as to when they can start making more noise. The room had a fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee machine (so you can have breakfast in the room). We wanted to try the restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, but we never did. Wifi was very good and free.

    5
    « Wonderful Experience »

Had a most pleasant experience at the Chateau Granville. The room was pristine and comfortable; enjoyed room service - both the food, which was excellent and the wait time approximately 15 minutes. Would definitely return.

    « Top Notch »

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in may for the Who concert and relaxing and the hotel and staff met all of our needs with advice and directions to different places in the city to see. Granville Island and Hastings Park were most enjoyable.

    « Very accommodating !! »

Hotel is clean and comfortable. Best part is the front desk which always trying to find an answer for you. Never made to feel silly asking questions about the area, eateries, etc..?.. Parking is a bit tight for some spots ? that the way the building is. High praises to the maintenance group with quick response replacing a clock with no back light. Wi-Fi was good - rarely lost a signal. All good ? would I stay there again ? yes I would.

« Best Hotel in Vancouver! »

I stay at this hotel every time I go to Vancouver. I have come here for a romantic getaway, family vacation, to see a concert or hockey game, the location is perfect for any of those things. The hotel is clean inside and out, the staff is very helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean and well kept, the beds are comfortable and (though we didn't use it this time) the food is great in the restaurant. I never even look at other hotel choices, this is my "go to" hotel.

    « amazing hotel ! »

Hotel is EXCELLENT. my room was big, and i also had an extra living room with a couch and a big flat tv screen. Room is clean, comfortable..close to everything you need ! Price is good ! If i go back to vancouver that's where I'll stay again.

    « Vancouver value »

This was our first trip to Vancouver. We try to stick with the Best Western brand when possible because we accumulate points for free nights. This hotel was located very close to a lot of walkable attractions. We were able to take transit from the airport to a stop within about 6 blocks of the hotel. Staff was VERY friendly. When we had to rebook a bus trip to Whistler, the concierge was more than happy to help us. Most Best Westerns offer a free breakfast, this one did not, so a little bummed by that, but not a deal breaker. I would highly recommend this hotel based on hotel location, room cleanliness and space, very good wifi and great staff.

    5
« Absolutely wonderful place to stay »

Best western staff and management went beyond the kindness and definitely exceeded my expectations. I was robbed on my trip and they helped me, called the police and took care of my stay so that I can be comfortable. Definitely would stay again.

« great place to stay »

Really nice hotel set out on the main street in downtown Vancouver. Little busy all hours of the night so if your a light sleeper this area may not be for you. Very attentive pleasant reception upon arrival. We were put on the top floor 15 over looking the main street. At night the view is breath taking. Looked like a Vegas strip Well lite up and quite beautiful. The room was very clean and a good size. There was a little frig and it kept our drinks nice and cold. A normal bottle of 500 ml water was $3.50 which I thought was rather expensive however right across from the hotel is a store and a few small markets are within walking distance. Beds were super comfy and we had a balcony which was great for picture taking. Highly recommend this great hotel.

    4
    « A rather good option »

The hotel is in a good spot, close to plenty of restaurants as well as Granville Island itself. Even better is the accessibility to transit meaning you have plenty of options available to get around. Cost isn't excessive, rooms are rather decent. It's a rather good option.

« Clean and Comfy in an Eclectic Neighbourhood »

Stayed in suite 903 (2 double beds, separate living room, balcony) with a city view. Room was very comfortable if a little cramped for the two beds and amount of furniture in the living room. Bathroom was super clean and the shower was superb - great water pressure and lots of hot water. The towels were thick and big. The hotel itself is in an interesting neighbourhood on Granville St, in an area that is undergoing a bit of a transformation. One can find great restaurants and bars mixed in with second hand shops, "adult shops", head shops and high end boutiques. So if you like to people watch and like a mosaic of experiences, this is a neat place to stay. It is also close to Robson Street with all its shopping and the downtown core, or a quick taxi ride over the bridge to Granville Island in the opposite direction. The hotel staff were quite friendly. 'Ralph' was at the front desk when we checked in and provided superb, professional, friendly service.

    « A very enjoyable stay »

We arrived at the Best Western and found it to be a great place to stay. The staff was helpful and the room was large and comfortable. I was a little nervous after reading some reviews that said elevators had been down, but both were working while we were there, no wait times. We would definitely stay there again!!

« Friendly Staff and Clean Room »

Friendly Staff - Room Clean - Bathroom very neat - Bed very comfortable. Excellent view from the room Price of room reasonable. Spacious bathroom Negative side: One elevator was broken. Only one guest-elevator worked and it was small and slow. However overall, we had a great stay at Grandville Best Western Plus Hotel. No hesitation to stay there again should I travel to Vancouver again.

    « Downtown location »

This mini-suite was well appointed but the living room furniture was very uncomfortable. The restaurant had minimal service and the food was average. It was close to grandville island. Easy walking distance to downtown. Friendly staff.

    « Poor stay as »

I was very disappointed with my stay. I came for a convention that I missed most of the Saturday night activities because I was stuck on the 15th floor. I had paid to a Banquet I never attended after waiting 15 minutes for an elevator that never came. I cannot walk up and down on stairs due to a knee injury do I was stuck. ALS missed the speaker and the comdian. The view from my balcony was a building under construction.

« Great Food and Friendly Helpful Staff »

We were welcomed to the hotel and our cases were swiftly taken to our room, no more pulling of the cases after a long flight ! The rooms were clean and a good size, with comfy pillows. The breakfasts and evening meals were really good ,so we ate at the hotel quite a lot ?? Tom the restuarant manager was really welcoming along with the other staff, that we felt at home, the food service was timely and they were always to hand checking that we had what we needed and our drinks were refilled ?? I would recommend this hotel, it is also in a good location for visiting many of vancouvers attractions

« Location was OK, close to everything Downtown. »

Granville Street can be a little sketchy as far as street people, but they didn't bother me. Staff here was great and the rooms were nice with a separate bedroom. Price was ok for Vancouver (some hotels can get very pricey.

    « Excellent service »

Stayed at this hotel for 10 days recently. The food was excellent quality. In fact after trying it out on our first day, we kept returning. The breakfast was freshly cooked and of a high standard. Every meal we chose off the evening menu was delicious and of generous portions. We thought the prices were very reasonable. The staff were very helpful and friendly and always had time for a chat. Especially the Restaurant manager who had a brilliant sense of humour and was very friendly. Also the the general manager was very helpful as well. Really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it

« Great location, very friendly staff »

Used this hotel as a base for a few days in Vancouver. Location was just right, a few minutes walk to many downtown theatres, restaurants etc. The room was spacious, bright and comfortable. Check out the various packages available, there are some great values. The breakfast was humungous! The staff were very friendly and especially helpful when we had to leave unexpectedly.

« Early Wake Up and overpriced »

The hotel was okay, but way too much money for what we got. We were on the 6th floor, directly across the ally from a building under construction. At 7 AM, we were awakened by the banging and crashing sounds of over a dozen construction workers starting their day of work, just across from our room, less then 50' away.

« Not bad at all. »

It was a nicely appointed room, separate living area from the bedroom. The furniture is dated 70's. There was only one chair at the table which could seat two comfortably. Natural lighting from large windows. The bathroom is all done with small tiles and peeling wallpaper.?? bring a mirror for close ups as they don't have any in the bathroom. Hope you like hard beds? They were ready to help with booking a last minute dog room. ??there is a nice dog park close by. If you have kids definitely the suite - had 2 double beds in a separate bedroom, a pull out sofa bed and 2 TVs, microwave and fridge. Lots of natural light from large windows and balcony door.

« Stay here and say hi to Drew for me! »

This hotel exceeded my expectations. We were expecting a basic hotel room (one room with beds and a TV, bathroom), but it included a separate room with two beds and a TV PLUS a room just for a living area with another TV. The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. The hotel is in a prime location for anything touristy you could want to do in Vancouver. The restaurant attached to the hotel was our favorite place for breakfast. We tried a few places in the area and that one was hand down the best. Drew greeted us when we arrived to the hotel and he was our favorite! He helped us find places to watch the hockey game and restaurants to go to. He was all around friendly and was quite funny too.

« Very friendly and helpful staff, great value! »

Our stay at this well located property was made better by the friendly and helpful staff. The room was well appointed and spacious, and surprisingly quiet considering its city neighborhood. Double beds unusual size for a hotel, but extremely comfortable w great bedding. GREAT value for Vancouver!

    « Evening Out »

Stayed here on a Wednesday, and loved our room and view. Up on the 15th floor facing the city! Staff very friendly and helpful! Excellent room service food too! Will definitely stay here again when I need to come to Vancouver.

    « Excellent! »

Our stay at this hotel it was wonderful. The staff is very friendly, the suite is spacious. There are two double beds in a separate bedroom and in the family room there is a pullout hid-a-bed. It fit our family of five perfectly. Everything was clean and we have no complaints.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, halls and lobby, conveniently located for restaurants, hospital. Within walking distance of downtown and Stanley Park (if you walk regularly). Close to train station to airport. Staff was very helpful in offering suggestions and guidance.

« close to downtown venues »

we chose this hotel for the location...just a few minutes walk to the venue we were going to in the evening...bonus with this was to park our car at the hotel for duration of stay ( a $20. charge for overnight)..several places to eat at or choose the great food truck that parks down here....parts of the area are a bit seedy - ( there are homeless people hanging out on the sidewalk in the evening ).. just go online ahead of time to check out the area so you know what's there and what's within walking distance..check the public transit times if you want to go further. ..wear your walking shoes and plan your trip from a good central location.. our room was comfortable and clean with the sitting room (the couch and chair were a bit dated) separate from the bedroom ..the beds were fine with decent linen... we never noticed much street noise and the two sets of curtains give you an option of how dark you want the rooms. ( it gets slow down in this part of town in the later evening anyhow)....the staff were efficient, polite and approachable..ps..one of the two elevators was still broken but it was't that bad to deal with..would have liked the stair option though..we'd stay again..

    « Oh Canada!! »

This hotel is located on South Granville street. Granville street can be quite intimidating to people, with peep shows, street people doing drugs, marijuana shops and other seedy elements of the big city. That being said, this property is close to Yaletown which appears to be the new trendy neighborhood and a light rail station. Plus a Aqua Bus station that goes to the shops of Granville Island. I have never felt threatened on Granville Street, but I probably wouldn't be out at 3:00am either. This hotel was quite clean, comfortable and a pleasure to stay at. Flat screen TVs in the living room and bedrooms were quite nice and the refrigerator, microwave and Keurig machine is something all hotels need to have. Paid parking charges were average for a big city and the onsite restaurant seemed nice although we did not eat there. Lots of dining, entertainment options nearby makes this a convenient location. Balconies overlooking the city are nice to peer out over Vancouver. We definitely enjoyed staying here.

« Vacouver vacation with kids »

We stayed in a suite, and we were really happy with the room - it was ample space for my husband, myself and our 3 children, and was very clean. Had a microwave and fridge too. The staff was helpful, and friendly with directions on how to get around the city. This was our first time in Vancouver, and the hotel is situated on Granville (street name) and the section is a little grittier than I would prefer - not that anything happened, just something to be known. Though around the corner headed that direction you head towards Yaletown, which is super nice, so it was only one side of the hotel that was on a not so nice street. Also one of the elevators was broken our entire stay, and it definitely caused longer than normal wait times. You could not take the stairs up to your floor either (only down) because the doors were locked at each floor. Used the gym in the hotel and no one was ever in it which was great for me, and it was super clean. This was the first Best Western I have ever stayed at that didn't offer a continental breakfast (many local breakfast options), but something to keep in mind as well, especially if you are staying with kids. Parking was also an extra cost. The location was great though as far as accessibility to everything.

« Best Western Chateau Granville »

We stayed 4-4-16 thru 4-6-16. 3 rooms. Upon arrival their only working elevator quit with people inside it. Their other elevator had been inoperable for many days. We had to use the service elevator until they got the main elevator up and running later that evening. It was very frustrating at times to wait 10 to 15 min for the elevator with kids and an 84 year old mother in law. I felt upon check out we should have been given a small credit to each room for the inconvenience. Wifi is horrible, only one person can use the wifi in a room at a time. (not a good idea when you are offering suites, which draw families or larger parties) Drew was a great bell man, and the front desk friendly. The hotel may want to look into what they can do to have the adult store moved to another part of town. My kids wanted to go there since" a peep show is only .25 cents" thank goodness we aren't uptight parents though we did have to explain .

« Best Western Plus Vancouver »

Main Elevators out of commission during our stay (should have received some type of credit on our bill ) 3 rooms, 2 days. Rooms ample space for the family to spread out. Wifi is horrible, only one person in the room can be on wifi at a time or it doesn't work. Decent location. Though I encourage management to do all they can to get the adult store across the street to move to another side of town (my kids wanted to know what a peep show was, and could they go since its only .25 cents.(thank god we have a sense of humor!

    « I don't know »

This is hands down the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in as far as street noise is concerned. Obviously not something the hotel has any control over-and they do offer complimentary earplugs in the room. Thankfully I travel with white noise so my sleep was probably better with that. Based on that alone I probably would not return to this hotel or request a room on the back side of the building. While we were there only one elevator was working and this is a 15 story hotel so you can imagine the wait times if you've got someone going to the garage and someone waiting on the top floor. We were on a high level floor with kids so taking 12 flights of stairs was not an option. I hope this gets fixed soon because it was a huge inconvenience. I thought the price of parking was incredibly inflated. $16/day to park in their own private garage. The wifi situation was not ideal. They have wifi for each room. You enter your rooms passcode and you have wifi while you are in your room. The moment I stepped into the hallway it would disappear and there is no public wifi for the hotel so when I was in the restaurant or in a friends room wifi was not available. This may seem insignificant but when you are traveling internationally and racking up the charges, it leads to a big problem. Several great little restaurants within walking distance and a Starbucks about 400 feet away Overall the hotel was nice, clean, and I thought the staff was welcoming but I do not believe I would be interested in returning as this just does not fit my needs.

« Friendly, courteous staff. Convenient location. »

This is our second stay at the Chateau Granville. The last one was four years ago. They have upgraded the rooms including the windows and balcony doors since, significantly reducing the street noise inside. It is conveniently located near on Granville (a straight shot to the airport) near Granville Island, Yaletown and not too far from the Robson district and downtown. There's plenty of good restaurants within a short walk. That being said, there are some 'street people so you might want to opt for a taxi ($5-$10 CAD) later at night or if the weather is inclement. My only complaint would be the fact that there was only one public elevator in service during our visit and they had posted notices that this has been and would be the case for some time. This would have been enough for me to rate them a 3-Star property had it not been for Drew, the Bellman who did everything possible to insure our stay was as pleasant as possible, including offering the service elevator if he noticed a long wait or a queue of more people than could comfortably fit into the next lift.

    5
    « Granville Review »

The only working elevator was extremely slow. A person should not have to wait 5 minutes and more for an elevator to get to you. Parking fees should be included in room price for 1 vehicle and any extras should be charged accordingly

    « NICE AND CENTRAL »

I have been in this hotel on March 2016. The hotel is located practically at walking distance from downtown. The personnel in general are very polite and efficient. The room was large and clean, the bathroom was a regular one, essential. Wifi connection was free and very fast. Laudry service was fast and good. nThe restaurant in the hotel had a very goos quality of foos with a large choice in the menu, but a little bit expensive. The hotel room rate was excellent and ratio price quality was very good. in summary a very nice hotel.

« Great location, super staff »

We were able to take part of the WA state residents special. If you are from WA state you should check this out. From the moment we arrived we received the very best treatment from every member of the staff. Jonathan, Daniel and Patricia took very good care of our every need. And when they were busy Nicholas [the manager] stepped in and helped us. Our room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. We had a two bed suite with a separate livingroom. There was a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Both livingroom and bedroom had TVs. The hotel is in a very good location. Close to both shopping and many restaurants, and if you like to walk, Gastown, and Granville Island. The have an enclosed parking garage. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Also check out the Edge, the restaurant, it's the only place we ate while there.

    « Great place »

The location is perfect as you can reach the central part of Downtown including Yaletown, which is becoming a hub for a dynamic mix of the dining and entertainment experience these days. The view from the balcony is outstanding as you have a lookout for the downtown area plus the mountains in the backdrop.

« Fantastic room, comfy bed, convenient but.... »

First spend the extra money and get the superior double queen with balcony. Lots of room, fantastic beds, fridge, microwave and great view if on Granville side. Make sure you get a high floor, 12th was great. 1204 specifically. Downside (all the clubs are on this street, plus side-you can't hear if you keep the windows shut). Taps in sink and shower wonky so be careful you don't freeze or burn. Once you have them set right, don't breath on them or bump them in anyway. Likely need tightening. The weekend we were there one elevator was down, the sign said for a "short" time. 5 days and counting is NOT a short time. Very unhappy people with long waits. All stairway doors locked. Maybe they should have just kept an employee at the service elevator at least at check in/check out time. He could have gone to the top floor and checked for folks and kept working his way down. Or at least be honest and say the elevator is out for a week or more. Just don't lie and say "short". Would have given 5/5 if they had the elevator thing controlled better and tighter taps. Friendly staff though, clean rooms and great access for the Orpheum.

« Nice hotel, dangerous location »

This hotel is what we were expecting of a BW Plus, good value, clean room, great staff, tasty food in the restaurant. The problem is the terrible neighbourhood. There are peep shows right out the front door, 3 strip clubs on the next block, marijuana shops, tattoo parlours, disgusting streets with excrement and throw up, gum, garbage and homeless. There are ear plugs in the rooms for noise. If you're going for a wild bachelor party, get some piercings, smoke some weed, or want to try the gay thing, this is your spot. If you have a family, choose somewhere else.

    « Lovely stay »

We had a great stay at this hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable, with great pillows and the room very spacious. The bathroom was clean and the shower good. The view down the granville strip is amazing from the 15th floor with the snow topped mountains in the background. The location couldn't have been better. Walking distance to everywhere without being on top of the noise. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for one aspect of our stay. When we returned back to our room after a day out the door to our room was open. It must have been left that way after house keeping had been in. This was extremely worrying as we left all our valuble skiing equipment as well as I pads, passports and money in our room. Thank fully nothing was missing. We reported this immediately to the reception desk and were met with no apology. However, it wouldn't deter us from staying there again. The breakfast at the edge was lovely.

Great place near to everything you would want to visit - within half an hour on the airport sky train. Staff lovely. Only criticism having to pay for orange juice on a prepaid breakfast seemed petty. Also fast internet connection available.

« Great location, great room »

This is a great location downtown vancouver where you can walk to many attractions. We easily walked to BC Place, Rogers Arena, Robson Street, Vancouver Convention Center, Canada Place and about a 10 minute walk to the nearest skytrain station of Vancouver city center. Sky train from the Airport to YVR city center was 7.50 per person and only 2.50 pp for the return. It took 25mins from YVR to city center. The hotel was easy to find and the front desk check in and out was quick and friendly. Our room was on the 12th floor and we enjoyed the view! We had a one bedroom suite with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker,2 tvs and a balcony. We ordered dessert from room service and it was fairly quick and was delicious. There are so many great restaurants within easy walking distance. Great hotel, would definitely stay here again with family or on business.

« Best Western PLUS Chateau Granville Hotel Review »

I would have to say i would never choose another hotel in this city, neither would my friends. Ever time we come to Vancouver we stay here. Elivators were slow this time but it will be fixed obviously. And on the far side of building there is construction of a new high rise so its loud from monday to friday mornings and such but not so bad. Id say definatly stay here.

    « Good location »

Suite was great - roomy, lots of closet space, bed very comfortable. location great for downtown restarants, shopping. Catering was fine. Only real negative was that only one elevator was working during my stay. There is construction going on next door- not a problem if you are planning to be out and about during the day.

    4
« One elevator out of order »

Always great service! I appreciate an early check in. One pit fall was that one elevator was out of order for my one night stay which made for a long trip from the top floor. Parents: it's not amusing what so ever when the elevator is out of order and you allow your kids to press every floor on the one operating elevator!!

    4
« Consistently great service - great value! »

I usually stay at the Chateau Granville in downtown Vancouver. They provide great customer service, the rates are very affordable. Rooms are clean and roomy (suite) Love it there! We had a room with 2 double beds, very clean and comfortable, two TV's, wifi, fridge, Keurig coffee maker. Loved it!

« Very nice rooms but inadequate elevator capacity »

On the positive side, this hotel has nice rooms, is located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, and has nice urban views from the room. The staff is friendly and professional. But a serious negative, at least during my stay was that one elevator was out of order. This property is a fifteen floor property and has only two elevators, chichis inadequate as it is. Take one out of commission and now you have 15 minute waits to get down to the lobby or up to your room. They really have a problem in this regard.

    « Great location, »

Great location, great service, staff were very friendly. Vancouver is really a beautiful city with wonderful places. Many places can be visited on foot and transportation near the hotel is very easy to use.

    3
« Experienced early morning construction-the back rooms »

The facilities are great and stayed here before. However, this time around, customers should be made aware that if you are being put in the back row of rooms, there is a high-rise construction and I anticipate that this will go on for another year. Too much noise from the construction. Was not warned.

    « Everything I remembered »

I was in Vancouver for the weekend for a conference. I've stayed at this hotel before and as I was coming in by train from the airport thought I would stay here again. It's an easy train ride in and the walk from Yale Town station on a Friday night is right through one of the entertainment districts. It's great if you like people watching and don't have too many bags. My checkin was super easy and my room quite lovely. The bed was great and I fell into it for an undisturbed sleep. I had a friend picking up a package from me and the front desk was only too happy to help coordinate that for me. I love the smell of the shampoo in the rooms. It's really minty or something. Anyway it helps to really wake up the senses in the morning. I'd stay here again.

« Central Location within walking distance to attractions »

We were in Vancouver for a show at the Commodore Ballroom which is located just a block & a half from the Chateau. Everything you could need can be found within a short walk from the hotel. Lots of great eateries like The Famous Warehouse, & Carl's Jr.; Liquour/Beer & Wine stores; funky shops; grocery stores; shopping centres; theatres; art galleries; museums; parks; and so much more. The staff at the Chateau are friendly, accomodating, helpful, and knowledgeable about their city. The rooms are clean & spacious & very comfortable. The chateau is our new go-to hotel!!!!

« Big Rooms! Okay ammeneties »

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Chateau Granville Best Western. The rooms were very big and for staying a few nights it was nice having a living space separate from the bedroom. Our shower head drooped down a little and wouldn't stay up which was fine for short me but was an inconvenience for my boyfriend who is 6 feet. I am glad we found a good deal on the room as construction next to the hotel caused quite a bit of noise and also made the view from our balcony less enjoyable. If we had paid full price for the room I may have found that more of an annoyance. Parking was convenient and although not super cheap seemed reasonable for downtown Vancouver. Location was nice, we could walk to many of our destinations. Elevators were a little rough but the building isn't super new so I suppose that could be expected. Our only main complaint it probably about the breakfast at the hotel restaurant Edge. We both ordered over-easy eggs one morning and when we received them they were a little on the under-done side (very runny in the middle... not just the yolk but the white too, and a little cold). At the time we thought nothing of it but we're quite sure that it is what caused my boyfriend's salmonella food poisoning that he came down with that evening. Since they were organic eggs I would suggest ordering them more on the done side to be safe, or enjoy breakfast somewhere else around the hotel which we did a few mornings (I would suggest cafe crepe or YaYas bubble tea). If we stayed in Vancouver again I would probably see if we could find somewhere else, it was okay but full price rooms would be a little much for just a cheap vacation (we booked through Groupon) and the business-style space in the rooms was more than we needed.

« Amazing hotel, sweet staff »

We booked a room this weekend and accidentally made a mistake and booked a room with two double beds. We explained this to the front desk attendant and she immediately helped us and upgraded us to a king suite. This hotel is amazing. Chocolates on the bed with a hand written note saying "Have a nice day". Balcony views are amazing! Walking distance to everything. The staff was just so kind and friendly answered all our questions and never hesitated to help us. Very good experience i will go here anytime I am in Vancouver!

« In the heart of it all »

Best Western has kept the Grand at their Chateau Granville Hotel & Suites in Vancouver. Fully modernized and stylish, with a helpful staff; this hotel is right on Granville Street amidst the nightlife of Vancouver. With artfully decorated suites/rooms, you'll get a sense of Vancouver's apparent change into a super city. With a parking garage and it's own restaurant and lounge, this Best Western definitely has the PLUS. Reasonably priced rooms paired with the courteous and professional employees make for a nice stay. Within walking distance of the dining district and a short cab ride from Gastown; you won't need a higher priced hotel to get the same experience. A bonus is the higher suites with great views of Vancouver's growing skyline.

    « Excellent all rounder »

I booked this for its location and reviews. Thought it was very well located and in easy reach for tourist siteseeing in Vancouver. The room was modern, very comfortable and clean and I liked having a balcony. Was on the 15th floor so street noise was not an issue. My only negative wasn't really to do with the hotel as I had a couple in the next room have a very loud argument at 2am as they returned from a night out. The hotel does have a sign in the lobby asking people returning late to keep noise to a minimum but it looks as if this couple didn't pay attention. Had it gone on any longer than it did I would have called reception. Found all the facilities and staff were great and as it was raining during my 3 day stay it was very useful to be able to borrow an umbrella from reception. I had one breakfast at the hotel which was lovely - a huge plateful which I certainly enjoyed but there were cheaper places very nearby. Overall excellent and I would certainly recommend and also stay again if visiting Vancouver

« Staff Treat You Like Family »

The rooms are not only very clean and well kept, but the staff is what keeps us coming back. We come every year for medical reasons and have gotten to know the staff. The staff have also gotten to know us, and treat us ever so well! The location is close to great restaurants and shopping, and the attached restaurant is also very good. Will continue to stay there!

« Great location, very clean room »

We stayed at this Best Western on a Friday night. We chose this hotel based on the location, as we were attending a concert at the Commodore Ballroom. It was under 10 minutes to walk there. Granville is a busy street on a Friday night with lots of clubs and concert venues. There are many late night food spots, so you can grab a bite on your way back to the hotel. Our room was very clean, and tidy, with a comfortable bed. It was also quiet. Our room had a balcony which was a nice addition. When we came back to the hotel at around 12:30, we had to be let in by a security guard and our room number verified. We were told this is to eliminate someone staying in the hotel bringing a whole group of non-guest in. I suspect this is due to night-clubs being in the near vicinity. If it keeps the hotel quiet, I'm in! Overall, a nice place to stay that is close to evening entertainment. We would choose this hotel again because of it's cleanliness and because it's quiet.

    « Clean & quiet »

We stayed on a Thursday night, it was very busy with the hockey game scheduled that night. Our room was ready on time, it was clean, comfortable and quiet. Our room faced away from Granville. Parking was reasonably priced. Centrally located.

« Nice place to stay »

We stayed here for 7 nights. The hotel is located towards the South end of the "entertainment district". This means there are plenty of bars, night clubs, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. The public bus has a stop about 1 block South so transportation is easy. However, any of the rail stations are a bit of a walk. I suppose I should point out that there is a bit of a homeless issue around the general area (not at the hotel). They will politely ask for money but they are not aggressive. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained. The staff was helpful and professional. The only noise to speak of was the occasional police or fire vehicle. The free wifi was great. Each room has its own passcode; once you leave your room, the wifi will drop off. However, while in the room it was rock steady and fast. I found free wifi to be fairly common around downtown Vancouver.

    5
    « Great stay. »

My family and I stayed in a suite. The room was clean, and had lots of space for our family of four. The beds were very comfortable. The food was fantastic. And the staff are friendly and helpful! It's walking distance to lots of great shops, food and more!

    3
    « Location, Location, Location »

The location of this downtown Vancouver Hotel is perfect, out of the hustle and bustle of the down town core, however walking distant to it all. The location of you room is key at this time as there is a new building being constructed next door and the noise from the early morning constructions starts does not start your day well. So ask for a room away from the back alley. And the location of the underground parking entrance is difficult to get to due to the closing of the lane at one end due to this construction. The Edge restaurant attached is marvelous and the cost of restaurant and hotel are affordable .

    3
    « Very clean »

The room was quite large and very clean. The wifi was quite strong and had no trouble with connecting. Hotel is a little old and needs upgrading. Not enough power points in the room. Bathroom is a bit tired. Couldn't get the plug in the bath to stay in.

« Good Value for Location »

Chose this hotel as it was given reasonable review by TripAdvisor. I found it to be exactly as what was described on TripAdvisor. The location is convenient but not particularly pleasant as it is near a grubby street. But near enough to nice areas that it is acceptable. Hotel is okay. Service was very good. Cleanliness was very good. Rooms were better than what I expected based on lobby decor. Bed was terrific. All in all an average looking hotel with better than average beds and service.

Great location and comfortable stay at this Best Western. There is plenty of restaurants, pubs and things to do within walking distance of this hotel. You will not go wrong if you are in the area and choose to stay here!

    « Wonderful staff »

I was in town for a Dr. Appt. at the hospital, and it was only a five minute walk from there. The hotel was clean, quiet, and affordable. The staff were friendly, knowledgable, and continually went above and beyond to ensure my stay was as stress free and pleasant as possible. I will definitely be staying there on any future trips to Vancouver. And will tell my friends about it. Keep up the great job Best Western!!!

« Good value for the money »

Good central downtown location close to bars, restaurants, False Creek and sporting events. Approx 10 minute walk from either Yaletown Roundhouse or Vancouver City Centre (light rail stops). Location is fairly safe however there are some sketchy areas. My room was very large (suite) however the carpet and fabrics (chair and sofa) were tired. King sized bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

« Excellent staff, clean, classy room decor, surprisingly quiet, great location. »

We had high expectations of this hotel because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel and staff exceeded our expectations so much so that we extended our stay for an extra night. They couldn't have been more helpful, from my first call to the hotel to enquire about different room options to the excellent bell service, to the meticulously cleaned room. The bed was very comfortable, the restaurant was excellent, in fact, I can not think of any complaints to mention whatsoever. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for personal travel. Because we were there for a leisure stay, I didn't pay attention to business facilities so can not comment on that aspect.

« Central downtown Vancouver location with good value for the dollars charged. »

Decent room in a surprisingly quiet location in the centre of everywhere we wanted to walk to. We would stay there again and I would definitely recommend your hotel. If there was one minor con, it would be that we had wished that your television channel line up had offered at least one movie channel.

Reasonable rates, nice rooms and we were going to Black Sabbath concert that was canceled and we made the best of the situation and had a good time. They did go out of thier way to be understanding of our situation and gave us free parking extra coffee at no charge. We will go back there for sure.

    « Just Perfect...Just Do It »

Was visiting Vancouver BC for a few days and couldn't have chosen a better hotel. Located in the heart of everything and service was top notch. The room was spacious and immaculate. The shower had a powerful shower head which is always a big plus. The bedroom and living room each had a flat screen TV. The WiFi is secured in that each room has a unique password. Parking is available onsite for a reasonable fee. The hotel has a restaurant - The Edge - which has a phenomenal breakfast. Walking distance to Stanley Park. Free coffee with a Keurig coffee maker. Refrigerator in the room.

    5
    « Top 7 Reasons »

*Check-in process was fast, friendly and efficient. *Parking is just $12 a day; a steal for a city like Vancouver where $45 per day is not unusual. *Impeccably clean guest rooms. *A short walk to the Yaletown SkyTrain station; if you're flying into VYR and want to stay in the city, SkyTrain is the best way to get downtown. *I walked a few blocks into Yaletown and there's dozens of restaurants to choose. *Most Best Westerns have a complimentary breakfast, this place does not. *Complimentary Wi-Fi was good.

I am rating this as an excellent value for your dollar as we booked ahead and paid under $140 tax in for a King Suite . Large room , sitting area , computer table , balcony , large bathroom , fridge , coffee machine , 2 tvs and more . You pay for breakfast here but the food quality is above grade . Close to Yale Town , bars and restaurants , Granville Island and anything of a distance like Gastown is only a $7 cab ride .

« Great price, nice rooms, good service »

Location a tad shady, Rooms very clean and spacious, service was good, comfy bed. Price was great. I will would definitely stay there again, but would avoid walking down Granville St. to access the hotel.

    « Convenient and affordable! »

Family friendly (even furry family members!) helpful staff, reasonably priced, clean and conveniently located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. We were surprised when our room was actually a suite with a separate bedroom. What more could you ask for? This will be our go to hotel from here on out!

    5
« Close to everything down town »

Checked out the museum, art galleries and shopped. It was just fun to walk to the water and not need our car to get around. Staff in the restaurant were friendly. the food was plentiful, well presented and very tasty.

    « Super Service »

Have stayed here twice. We expected a room with 2 beds, received a suite. Fantastic upgrade. Staff was excellent. Service was excellent. Will stay again at this location and have already recommended this hotel to others. Optic TV, quality in room coffee. Plug to charge a phone in the lamp on the desk. Many little things that made for a great stay.

    « Outstanding Service »

I had an outstanding experience staying at the BW Granville location. The room was everything you would expect from a 3-star hotel. You won't be blown away by style, but the hotel and room was very comfortable, well maintained, and clean. It is the service that really sets this location apart. Check-in and out services were provided with great courtesy, speed, and overall professionalism. The concierge was extremely helpful in advising attractions as well as transportation. In addition to the direction he provided, he was very personable and a pleasure to chat with in general. As part of a long multi destination trip I had to do laundry before departing all on my check out day. Since I had a large load of clothes, I chose to go to an off site laundromat. The desk staff were very helpful in allowing me to store my luggage, access it again following the laundromat, store it one more time for lunch, and finally return it for departure. All in all, it was a great experience! Thank you!

    « Nice hotel, location isn't great »

The hotel itself was in good condition & the staff was very friendly & accommodating. I know Vancouver very well, but for a new visitor, the homeless situation & street people would be uncomfortable and may deter future stays in this hotel.

    « Great value »

This is great value accommodation with rooms large enough for families with young children. The room was reasonably priced, clean and comfortable. It is located in a convenient location in the city, however I was a little concerned with the location being surrounded by several adult stores and strip clubs as I have 3 young children. The staff were friendly and helpful.

    « Well located »

My husband and I stayed for one night at this hotel on our way to Vancouver Island, we picked this hotel because it was close to our hire car pick up. We arrived about midnight due to a plane delay from Alaska and left at 9am the following morning so can only reall coment on our room. We stayed in room 1414 on an upper floor which had a very comfortable queen bed and pillows. The room was spacious, clean with lovely decor, we were given ear plugs which we didnt require. The bathroom was compact with a shower in the bath, which had good water pressure, plenty of toiletries were supplied. The only problem being there was long black hair in the bath and on bathroom floor. Overall a pleasant overnight stay.

« Great stay in Vancouver »

This is the best place to stay when in Vancouver as it so close to everything. In addition, the hotel is well maintained and the rooms clean and enjoyable. The only downside is that if your room is on the Granville Street side, it can be noisy at night.

    2
    « Pretty good except.. »

I came over from NYC, where I am used to a very loud atmosphere. It is almost midnight, and there is a bunch of extremely loud people outside my door. I called down to the front desk 10 minutes ago and they have still not sent anyone up. This would not be so bad if I did not have to catch a flight early in the morning. I will NOT be staying at this place again, at least not on the weekends

    « Great hotel »

We stayed here for four nights while touring Vancouver. It is a well situated hotel and rooms are great. The Hop on Hop off Bus stops right outside the door as does the shuttle bus to Capilano Suspension bridge. Our stay was very enjoyable and we would recommend staying at this hotel.

    « Unexpectedly WOW'ed! »

After a very last minute decision to drive from Whistler to Vancouver to surprise my bestie for her bday, I booked this property. In my haste, I entered the wrong day (it was a non refundable, no change reservation through Booking.com). After calling Booking.com, they contacted the hotel directly to see if they would change the date, penalty free and they did:) Arriving way before checkin time, I assumed I'd check in, park and wait until the afternoon to have a room. Katie (I hope that is her name, who I think also made the reservation adjustments) was awesome and checked me in with a room! YAY!....That was not the only 'YAY'.....The room was HUGE! A one bedroom with two queens, a mini fridge, 2 TV's, couch, desk etc. I want to note: as a mild OCD person, the remotes are all in little sanitary bags, there are chocolates with hand written welcome notes on then bed (which are super comfortable) and the room/bathroom was very clean! I was able to unwind after a crazy morning and be ready for a nice dinner out. Once we had returned from the celebrations around 10pm the TV in the bedroom wasn't working (nothing like a movie night) :) The Manager on Duty (I was pretty tipsy so can't remember his name) was awesome and came within minutes to fix it. We had an amazing stay! I travel every few weeks to Vancouver and was staying in various properties. I have now found my second home and will not book anywhere else. Thank you BEST WESTERN PLUS Chateau Granville Hotel & Suites. Looking forward to the next stay!

    « Good location »

This hotel location gave us easy access to downtown - Robson street, BC Place, Rogers Centre etc. Lots of restaurants to choose from. The hotel suite was great - comfortable and good value. The weekend was a bit noisy being right on Granville , as we were near clubs and bars. Also be prepared for seeing the homeless snuggled in blankets in the nooks along Granville Street. The restaurant "Edge" on site was very good and offered room service Underground guest Parking was about $20 per night taxes included Wi-fi worked good and free computer access in lobby for air flight check in and print. Overall good experience. Would stay again.

« Great location downtown, within walking distance to most places »

A great place to stay, within walking distance of Stanley Park, Granville Island and lots of places to eat. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We did have to ask for our room to be made up 2 days in a row. We usually leave in the morning to go site seeing or shop in order to give the housekeeping staff time to make up the room, then return in late afternoon to get ready for the evening activities or just relax. This was the only thing we had to mention to the front desk. The restaurant was excellent for any meal any time. I would certainly stay here again if I needed to stay in downtown Vancouver.

« Non Smoking room smelt like an ashtray »

We booked 3 nights x double non smoking room (bed & breakfast package) for our family of 4 (2AD,2Ch) when we arrived we were told only the adults would be supplied with breakfast. We thought this was strange after travelling through Canada for 3 weeks all other hotels had provided breakfast for 4 when we booked this type of room. When we entered the room the smell of stale smoke was overwhelming, we opened the windows and balcony door but after complaining about the breakfast didn't want to start another fight. So decided to put up with it. During the night we couldn't sleep because of the smell in the linen and the room, we all felt sick and left the following morning and checked into another hotel for the next 2 nights. We asked why they would put guests into a room that smelt so bad and they just shrugged and said they had tried to get rid of the smell. Do yourself a favour do not book this hotel.

« Perfect location, you can walk to everything, plus lots of places to eat & shop »

Staff were very nice & helpful, room was clean, everything was perfect. I would stay there again if ever the occasion arises. Location perfect for buses and just walking around spent a whole day at Stanley Park, rented a bike right at entrance to park and it was a beautiful perfect day!!!! then walked the wharf and had lunch by the water & dinner on our way back to the room.

    « Value on Granville »

Very good price for a suite with separate bedroom and lounge. A couple if blocks walk to main centre of town and Granville Island. Easy transport in bus. Friendly front desk. A few downsides - decor is dated and tired and Vancouver zoning means sex shop across road. Have to walk by homeless kids dossing down on Granville street to get to town. So location loses out a few marks. Sofa bed is hopeless and needs replacing and beds are double. So 4 people in suite a but tight. Still all in all good value for the price we got.

    « Worst treatment ever! »

The staff members are super rude! We booked the hotel because we wanted to go clubbing and stay only one night in downtown. At 2 am we came back to the hotel, the door was locked! We buzzed and they let us in. The guy at the counter, (James) was super rude, asked us for Id and didnt want to let my friend upstairs because apparently the room was for two people and we had one extra person. I told him that she is just visiting, but he told us that she cant go upstairs because the visiting hours ends at 10. What kind of hotel is this? I asked him well she is going to stay so whats the fee. i can pay. he refused to give us any price saying that the room is a fire hazard room, and he wouldn't let her go up. So i went upstairs with one of my friends and came back to drop my other friend but she came upstairs with me to pick her stuff. James saw us going up freaked out, started calling our room, sent one person upstairs with a walki talki as if he caught criminals. he caused so much drama at 3 am. finally I told the guy who came upstairs that we are under no condition at this point of time to drive her! I asked him to give us 20 min so I can come downstairs and he was like no i cant, i finally went downstairs and explained to James that I am not going to drive so tell me what is the price or give me another room. he finally charged us 20$ more. It is so funny how a fire hazard room can suddenly become a normal room after paying 20$. I have never seen any hotel with stupid rules like this. I always could have visitors coming in without getting harassed. I never write any reviews but this hotel for sure needed this one!

« very memorable last meal »

If you want room service do not expect to be taken care of if you order ten mins before closing. All signage and verbal promises stated room service available till 10:00 pm. It could have been my wife's last meal if her cancer surgery had not gone as well as it did. She was not allowed any food after midnight so room service was very important to us. You never know who or why a meal may be so important.

« Spacious rooms in a central location »

Hotel had very large, clean rooms. Stayed here over a weekend and it was mostly quiet, however, the room overlooked a construction site so I imagine that it would be noisy during the week. The hotel did provide earplugs which was a nice touch. Large bathroom with lots of counter space, and mini fridge in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a taxi stand right outside the hotel so transportation was never an issue. The hotel is in walking distance to the downtown, Gaslight, Davie Village, and Yaletown areas. There are a mix of properties and derelict buildings on the street, but that seems pretty on par for what we saw in Vancouver. Perfectly safe walking around at night.

    « Beautiful view & comfortable bed »

Downtown Vancouver close to all the nightlife. Went to canucks game 20 minute walk. Big bathroom. Beautiful view & awesome sleep in the king size bed. Check in and check out were very fast & hassel free. Only issue is restaurant closed at 10 & advertisement in elevator said 10:30.

Good location. We got a room upgrade which was a nice surprise as our room wasn't ready when we arrived even though we were early. Rooms were big and clean. Enjoyed the special toilet! View of the city. Like the work out room with it's newer equipment too! Elevator a big slow and shaky but overall a great place!

    « As usual - a pleasant stay. »

Stayed a couple of nights on a business trip. Close proximity to downtown and reasonably priced. If staying in the hotel rooms (i.e. not a suite) the door to the balcony does not lock which is not a safety concern; however you do hear a bit more street noise than one would expect even on the 14th floor.

We spent 4 nights over Christmas this BW in downtown Vancouver. Staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful when required. The King suite was clean, spacious and modern with a balcony. « Our Stay »

The hotel has been refurbished and we enjoyed the King Suite very much. We had two TVs: one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The room was clean and the bed was outstanding. We like the pillow so much that we are trying to buy some for our home.

    « Beautiful Hotel »

We had a great time at this hotel. Staff were ever friendly, our suite was impressively large with large flat screen TVs and very clean. Nice location with easy access to Granville Island market which is well worth the visit. We had a late flight and securing our baggage was as simple as 1, 2, 3. We would definitely stay here again.

« Excelent price quality relation, friendly staff »

1- ROOM The master room is separeted of the living room, it has two queen beds for 4 people. Living room big sofa bed, therefore were enough for my family (5 poeple). The washroom has all necessary for us: soap, shampoo, towels, hair dryer etc. Coffe/te machine. The service room was daily, they changed all towels, the cups. 2-LOCATION Great location, because 15 minutes walking we were in the BC Place Stadium, Vancouver Loockout Tower, very close to Robson street (cormercial street), close to Granville Island (Public Market). 3-EXTRA Excelent staff, good gym, edge restaurant nice, two TV (a in the master room and other in the living room and very quiet room. 4-CONCLUSION Hotel very very recommended, Thank you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

    « Location, Location, Location »

Stayed here for only one night while downtown for a concert. Perfect location as we could walk to Rogers before and after the concert. If saved time waiting for cabs and we could get to the pub after the show nice and quick. It was perfectly located right in the heart of all the action. Walk right down Granville for tons of restaurants choices and cool places to hang out. The room we had was the one bedroom suite. It was nice to have a fridge and living room area to hang out in for a drink before the show with friends. It is always more comfortable to have this type of space instead of having a beer on your bed! The beds were small, 2 doubles I think, which was not really what a couple wants in their room but it was just fine. A little harder mattress than what I normally like but all in all a good night sleep anyways. I would definitely stay here again when going downtown. Highly recommend it for a quick weekend getaway.

The BW Chauteau Granville has central location, reasonable prices, great restaurant. Secure underground parking. Suites are very spacious and comfortable but slightly dated decor. Somewhat limited menu. We'll be back.

Stayed here in town for a hockey game. Great location, in the heart of a great area downtown, surrounded by plenty of things to do, see and eat. Hotel is immaculate from top to bottom. Room and bed were very comfortable. Plenty of included amenities: free wifi in room as well as common areas, 24 hour gym, fridge in room, balcony with great view of the city. Very inexpensive considering the amenities and cleanliness. Staff was extremely courteous, specifically Drew, the friendliest, most helpful concierge I've ever met. The meals were very good, We were pleasantly surprised to have a microwave, fridge and coffeemaker in the room as well. « ECO »

Your rooms and service were exemplary. The design and layout were superb. I especially thought your balcony entrances definately above and beyond. You seem to have met all your ECO systems. I find it hard to believe that under your current guidelines that YOU have not replaced your water closets!! If you went to say a TOTO or equivalent toilet you cou7ld not only raise the height of the toilet but but cut your water consumption from about 20L to 6L and even more if you purchased the dual flush model which only uses 3L on a PEE flush. I'M not sure how many Toilets you have but I am sure would make a substantial difference. The other concern is that if you installed soap and shampoo devices to the shower wall it would save greatly to the amount of discarded soap and or shampoo and wrappers . Thankyou for your attention to this comment and I hope it will make your establishment even more cost and ECO friendly. Thanks, Robert Rowland rjr2005@telus.net

    « Great service! »

Best Western Plus Chateau Granville is about 3 blocks from Robson Street, which is the main shopping district in Vancouver. Although the hotel seem to be not in a great neighborhood, I found many different ethnic restaurants around the hotel. The French bakery and café is one of my favorites - the owner is very friendly and nice and it is located just around the corner of the hotel. The room we had was on the 7th floor, but it had nice views, very spacious and clean. The bedding was very nice and comfortable as well. Front desk/concierge was very helpful with maps and directions as well as suggestions of restaurants.

    « Enjoyable return stay »

I came to Vancouver for a weekend of hockey and stayed at the Best Western Chateau Granville for the second time. Rooms are affordable and great for single travelers. My room was comfortable and I slept well even with the weekend party scene down on the street below. If noise bothers you, ask for a higher floor. The hotel is on or close to all public transit which makes touring around Vancouver that much simpler. Less than 30 min to airport. For LGBT travelers, the hotel is a few blocks from Davie Village. I will stay here again on my next trip to Vancouver.

    « A darkhorse but good place »

This place tends to be considered kind of a middling hotel, but I think that is inaccurate and doesn't do the place justice ..most of the rooms are suites, with separate bedrooms, which is great , lots of space. But best part grest staff and service, and little things like overlapping curtains so you can have total blackout, something most hotels don't do...also all rooms have balconies and you an smoke on them if you are a smoker this is very convenient .. tends to have a lot of young people because of room size and very reasonable prices, but don't let that deter you, because it is a concrete building the rooms are very quiet. I stay here a lot and have many occasions where there are 2-3 people in next room and I have never heard them. A good choice to stay in Van in my opinion

« Good choice in Vancouver »

The Hotel was very nice, close to down town Vancouver. We were also lucky to have experienced the rare lovely weather there. The room itself was clean and equipped with a King bed. At the 11th floor we had a wonderful view. We can also highly recommend the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. But just letting those know who are used to European portions beware as these are definitely North American sized portions, delicious but big. The only thing that could have been a bit better was the reception; We missed the good mornings or good nights when walking past the reception desk.

    4
    « Hot wire deal »

Booked with hot wire and got a great deal for two nights, which was about half of what I would have paid otherwise. I got a suite which was amazing. I loved having two rooms to myself. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the lack of cctv (or security) in the corridors made it a bit scary for a solo female traveller. It was also very noisy on the Saturday night, with one room either having friends over or partying in the early morning hours. But a call to reception fixed that. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who called! The area wasn't the greatest, but since I didn't plan on going out at night, I wasn't worried. View from my room was fantastic!

    4
« Superb for an overnight stay »

We stayed just one night here. the rooms were well furnished, the ac wasnt noisy and the bed was comfortable. best part was the surprisingly fast free wifi. Our room included breakfast which we had in the cafe on the ground floor. It was excellent and the portions were really large. Staff were courteous despite being busy dealing with the multitude of cruise ship passengers in the lobby.

    4
    « Central, new amenities »

This was a nice room, great view, central, the room was smaller/compact then we expected but we were out most of the night as we went to a concert. Room smelled clean and was overall very clean however we did find a condom wrapper under the bed, not a pleasant find. But overall, great stay and we would stay again.

This Best Western is very reasonably priced and clean. It is conveniently located close to downtown restaurants. I would recommend this hotel if you want affordability and convenience. It was very clean. My only negative comment is that the bed could be better. Overall it is well priced.

« Great City Location Vancouver, BC »

My wife and I stay here. I was working and she was close to shopping and more. The on sight Restaurant and bar is worth hanging out at. We did visit two locale Restaurants within walking distance. Close drive to Stanley Park. During the summer this would be a grand place to stay because of the closeness to attractions and being in down town your right in it. Enjoy! Cheers!

The Best Western Plus Chateau Granville Hotel & Suites is a great play to stay while visiting Vancouver. The hotel is located in a great central location that allows you to walk around the city as you enjoy the sights.

    « Great stay »

We had a 1 bedroom suite so it accommodated 5 of us quite well, including 3 teens. It was value for money. Athough it was on Granville St where most shopping are, the hotel is situated quite far up so it takes about 10-15 min walk up. But it was manageable for the rate we paid. There's a balcony in the room so we got 1 that overlooks Granville St, which was good. However, we were displeased by the fact that after a 15 hr flight, the hotel didn't have our room ready till almost 3pm. We were 5 very tired bodies spread about in the lobby for almost 2 hours. Can't say the staff were sympathetic towards us, who were seated in clear sight of their Front Desk Reception.

« Great location Reasonable Rates »

We stayed here for two nights and were very impressed with everything about our stay. The staff was very helpful. We appreciated being able to pick up our car a few hours after we had checked out. The staff was very polite, even summoning the elevator for us!

« Fantastic first visit to the city, fantastic hotel experience !!! »

I came over from Calgary on a business trip that I wanted to mix in with some pleasure. From the moment I got in , I was greeted warmly, check in was a breeze and the room was in excellent condition, staff was very accommodating and friendly, especially the front desk manager, Nick , who helped check me in and seemed genuinely interested in making my stay the best it can., I even asked him for some restaurant recommendations and they were all outrageously good ! (I think it was for La Terazza and Il Giardino). I certainly enjoyed my stay in this great city and Chateau Granville was a big part of that !

« Great Hotel in Downtown Vancouver »

This hotel was excellent in all areas. Great location, friendly staff, and excellent food in the restaurant/lounge. Internet was a little slow, but the views from the balcony were spectacular. I would highly recommend this if staying in downtown for a concert or vacation.

« Good for the Price »

A little run down but good value. Excellent shower, great linens and beds. Weird smells in places but super clean in the room. Earplugs a nice touch although didn't need them. Kind of sketchy part of Granville, but felt safe mostly. Great location to BC Place event. Would stay again.

« good for the price »

Basically had everything we needed. A bit of a sketchy part of Granville, but felt safe. A little run down, weird smells. Shower was awesome! Beds and linens were great. Love that earplugs were provided in the room-nice touch! Didn't try the restaurant but menu looked good.

    « Father - son weekend »

I booked the hotel ( suite ) and had my sons fly in from Alberta. Hotel and staff were helpful and location was good to get around. Cabs are fairly reasonable if you need to take one around downtown. Breakfast was excellent, no need to look for one, its right here./

« Great hotel conveniently located »

Very comfortable hotel, clean, helpful and pleasant staff. Not luxurious but not bare bones and very comfortable. Nice towels, nice bathrooms. We stayed in a King Suite, there was an extra closet and luggage rack. Two comfortable chairs, desk, microwave, Keurig coffee, and hair dryer. Would definitely recommend and stay there again. Extremely convenient location.

« Great location, close to downtown. »

This Best Western offers a fine location downtown, friendly staff, underground, secure parking, and a nice restaurant on site. The rooms were very clean, and well presented. I guess all of the rooms have balconies, which is cool.

    « Repeat customer »

I frequent Vancouver on a regular basis for business. Initially staying at different hotels because they were closer to where my business venues were held. After some time I realized that I felt more at home when staying at the Best Western Chateau on Granville. The staff have always greeted me with warm smiles and always checked if my stay was as I wanted it. Everything one could want in a stay could be found here. Right from a cozy, comfortable bed, to great food, and even a stylish meeting place for important clients, the courteous staff will deliver. I would highly recommend for a weekend getaway or any business trip.

Great location!!! Close to beautiful dog park, grocery store and Yale town restaurants Good value... Comfortable beds Good size rooms. Balconies are a bonus... Solid construction. Rooms are a little tired, mold on bathroom tile and hallway and room smelled of cigarette smoke. This hotel could be a real winner... With some deep cleaning and a few interior up dates.

    « A pleasant surprise & I felt appreciated »

I need to come back to explore the amenities! They seemed very nice but I did got have time to check them out. This is a place I could stay for a while. I had expected 2 double beds &, as I was on my own, that was fine. I had not realized, however, that it was to be a one bedroom suite. Living room could easily accommodate a 1/2 dozen and there was an outdoor balcony. There were closets in 2 rooms, lots of drawers, 2 TV's, 3 phones. Staff was very pleasant, always asking about my stay and could they do anything for me. I felt valued and appreciated for staying there.

    « Not friendly »

Room smelled like cigarrettes when we got there. At night the staff would ID us just to get on the elevator. Would not allow us to bring a single guest to our room that wasn't on "the list". We went to see a hockey game and had friends staying nearby and none were allowed to come to our room.

    « Centrally located. »

It is always a pleasure staying at a hotel where they remember you. This is a consistently clean and friendly place that is a bargain pricewise. I have been staying here about 24 times a year for the past 5 years and have seen a lot of good change in the appearance both inside and out. KH.

    « Surprisingly good »

I stayed here four nights and was very happy I did. The recently renovated room on the 14th floor was great. The balcony was a nice bonus, but it was really the finishings inside that I appreciated. The toilet had a remote (!) to work the heated seat, bidet, and dryer. The rain shower head from the ceiling didn't have much flow, but I really didn't need it. Some commentators have said that this is a rough part of town.I think that it depends on what your comparing it to. There are a few clubs on Granville that get dodgy after midnight, but you can simply walk a block or two further and it's great. I'd recommend it to nearly every one.

« Very good value for Downtown Van »

Location is great - easy walking to Yaletown, the Canada Line and the waterfront. The room we had was large, with a balcony and large windows to enjoy the skyline. This is an older hotel but seems to have been upgraded recently (new carpets, lights and furnishings) and very comfortable. On-site restaurant was very good for breakfast - quick service, good food and reasonably priced. The area during the day is fine but does take on a different vibe at night because it is close to clubs and bars. Can be a bit noisy on the street at closing time.

« Aging facility in a rough part of town »

I really like to write wonderful reviews, but in this case, I can only say that the staff was very helpful in providing guidance on attractions, a great restaurant nearby (The Fish Shack), directions to get to each of these places, and printing my boarding pass. However, the facility is older, there was a distinct lingering disinfectant smell in my room, and I could hear sirens going throughout the night. I suspect that the reason for that was that this hotel is located in the "entertainment district", code, I suspect, for the red light district. Diagonally across the street there were triple X's in red on a building marquee, there were many vacant, boarded up buildings along Granville, homeless people were everywhere, and it appeared as though there were working girls making their ways through all of this. Police were often evident throughout the area. Despite their presence, as a single woman, I felt very unsafe, and was relieved that a great restaurant was just a half block away, although it seemed to be much farther than that as I was sprinting down there. Although the kindness and helpfulness of the staff were wonderful, I would not recommend this hotel for unattached women or families with children.

« Great place for the money! »

I stayed here two nights and loved it! The room is big, the bathroom is a nice size but the best part is that it had a balcony and you could get fresh air! The room has everything you expect like an iron, a fridge, a microwave, a coffeemaker, etc. The bedding was nice and comfy. There is free wifi and the parking is very reasonable. The location is great, i loved the neighborhood, but it may be too grungy for some folks. It's close to a bunch of bars, restaurants, shopping. I walked everywhere and left the car in the garage. The restaurant on site is ok if you don't want to venture out, but a bit boring...

The room we had was a suite, had a separate bedroom with a living room with a sofabed. The bedroom was pretty spacious , same with living room. the only downside was there was no bathrobes, the cofffe machine did not work. in all it was a pretty good deal for the money

    « tried to help »

This hotel is fabulous. However, in attempt to meet their 'green' standards, there was confusion and our room was never attended to by the cleaning staff. The desk staff couldn't have been more helpful and their location was super for the touring we did.

Had a nice room on 10th floor nice view friendly staff and they were helpful when I need to know what buses to take were the stops were. Next time I'm in Vancouver will be booking my stay here again and the food at the restaurant in the hotel was grate and I my self cook for a living and have bin for awhile.

« Nice hotel but dodgy area. »

The hotel was clean, comfortable and value for money. However the area was a little dodgy with sex shop across the road and people doing drugs on the street. So probably not a great place for families. Not sure I'd stay here again.

We loved our room, the balcony really added to our experience. The location is good, close to everything. Walking out on Granville Street in the afternoon is an eye opener to someone from a rural setting. We really enjoyed our stay, the breakfast in the restaurant was excellent as well. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is very nice, in a great location, close to bike rental, buses, and offers many places to shop for food and supplies. The streets are filled with homeless people which Vancouver's downtown in known for.

« Location, Cleanliness and Amazing Staff »

Stayed for 3 nights at the start of October 2015. Right from check in I was impressed by the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Room was great, nice layout and spotless which is the most important to me. We were there for a conference and every detail was perfect. We had an afternoon off and really appreciated the location, there is even a free Capilano Suspension Bridge shuttle that stops at the hotel. Couldn't ask for more in downtown Vancouver.

    « Excellent »

Attended a conference held at this property. From time of arrival to time of departure, everything was excellent. The meeting room was comfortable and featured lots of natural lighting. The food & banquet staff were excellent. The dining room and lounge were very warm and welcoming. Breakfast was a highlight each morning. The room was well appointed, the bed extremely comfortable, very clean! Would highly recommend this hotel, perfect location.

« Great people! Superb service! »

From arrival to departure, we have been impressed by the quality of the hotel, its impressive cleanliness, the friendliness and helpfulness from the staff, and the immense importance given to even the smallest details. Internet was fast and stablel. Microwave and refrigerator in all rooms: very clean. We were there for five days and tried many things on the breakfast menu. I have not eaten better breakfast anywhere. It is the best place to have breakfast, even if you do not stay at the hotel.. An outstanding value for the price. Everyting was great. One word resumes it all: WOW!

« downtown vancouver long weekend »

Really nice hotel in a perfect downtown location, close to hockey, football and soccer stadiums. Big rooms and great friendly staff. Plenty of good places for food and drink right on Granville Street, (Lemon Grass Thai right across the street is really good). My wife enjoys the shopping which is all along the street as well as at the malls such as Pacific Center nearby. Easy to locate when coming to the city from the north or the south. Sky train is only blocks away too.

I have stayed here many times for medical appointments. The staff at the Best Western Plus Chateau Granville was very friendly and extremely helpful. I have limited use of my legs and was in a wheelchair. They couldn't do enough for me. I was always greeted with an open door and smiles. I will continue to make this my "go to" place when I travel to Vancouver

« Fantastic stay in the heart of the action! »

Bed 4/5Mattress firm/soft Room 5/5 room is very clean. Good number of outlets. Flat screen. Has desk area. Also room has a microwave and refrigerator. Shower warmed up ok and had mediocre pressure. We were on the top floor so that may have something to do with the water pressure. Wall Unit AC. Free wi fi . Price $$ Proximity 5/5. Right in the heart of the action! Granville has lots of bars, clubs and eateries. Surprisingly with all the action the hotel is very quiet. Hotel has a very good restaurant.

« Very good service and food. Very noisy! »

The staff at the front desk and in the restaurants are excellent. Food is really good! Loved our groups reception with fantastic food and service. Suite was well appointed, comfortable bed and two flat screen TV's. Great massage shower! The only complaint is the constant noise, shouting, fights and sirens from Granville Street. Do avoid room 405 where I was in as it is too close to street level. I did discover ear plugs and a note the 2nd night I was there and it did help a little bit. My recommendation is to take a much higher floor to avoid the noise from street level.

I stayed for the first time at the BW+ and was very impressed with the rooms - spacious and well appointed. The service from front desk to the restaurant was so friendly and efficient. great location, walking distance to all the key spots downtown. our business meetings and welcome cocktail reception were excellent. overall an excellent experience...good value, great service, delicious food and great rooms. thanks for the GM and his great team.

    « A pleasant surprise »

I needed a room in Vancouver for a few days and my usual hotel wasn't available. After some searching I booked with this hotel and checked in quite late the first night. My stay was a very pleasant one, starting with the front desk staff. The suite was clean and huge. It was also very quiet. Parking was well lit and secure. The restaurant served a nice dinner and a very full breakfast. The cost for meals was appropriate. The staff was efficient. Absolutely no issues with this hotel. The location can seem a bit sketchy, but that's the West End for the most part, so use your safety mindset and get out to enjoy what this part of Vancouver has to offer. There's lots to do and see within five minutes of this hotel.

    « My go-to hotel on a night out »

I have stayed here a few times over the last few years. It is my go-to hotel when going out for a night on the town. Located on Granville Street you are within walking distance to most bars, clubs, restaurants etc. and because it's not in the middle of the strip there is not as much foot traffic noise. The rooms themselves are clean, comfy and spacious. The front desk staff were very friendly and gave us a great brunch recommendation that was just across the street. Would definitely stay there again.

    5
    « Great Location »

Hotel is located close to Yaletown and many places for good dining. Staff in hotel top-notch, friendly. Rooms very spacious and balcony overlooked activity on Granville and city lights, very nice. Clean, everything in working condition. Would definitely stay at this hotel next time in Vancouver!

    3
« Well located and relatively competitive on pricing. »

This hotel is a decent, well located hotel in downtown Vancouver. The immediate area is a little seedy, but given the price point, this is not unexpected. The room was a decent size and the staff were OK. I'm not sure I would stay again, but that's probably because I would have preferred to stay a bit further inland rather than in downtown.

    « Mostly all pros »

We just spent 3 nights here pre-cruise Sept 24-27. We arrived at almost 11pm on a rainy Thursday evening and our check-in was super-quick and easy. It was just my husband and I, we had reserved through Expedia, and we were given a room with two double beds on the third floor. The bathroom was handicapped (we did not request this) but this was fine. When they say suites they mean suites ~ you have a completely separate bedroom where you can sleep and shut the door while the other person has an office area, couch and chair, and the bathroom is also in this other area. Very nice setup for people who may be on separate schedules or have kids or couples like us ~ I wake-up early and my husband sleeps-in. We had a balcony facing the street and there was also a window in the bedroom and in the living room that opened for fresh air. Also, we had called ahead and asked if there were smoking rooms available and they said no however, they do have a small area in front of the hotel where smokers can go plus you may smoke on your balcony as long as you keep your windows shut and you do not throw your cigarette butts out there. My husband was very pleased with this information. So ~ first impression is a nice hotel with a great room and a full-on view of a sex shop across the street. What kind of sketchy area are we in, we thought? Well, we would soon learn we were in a perfect area and there are no problems here whatsoever. At 11pm at night we walked across the street to the little Granville Street Grocery store (a few seconds away - we could see it from our room) and got some sodas and sandwiches as we had not been able to eat earlier due to flight delays/changes. What we learned over the next couple of days was if you walk out in front of the hotel and turn left and go up one block then make a right (onto Davies Street), you are less than a 5 minute walk away from tons of restaurants, several Starbucks, grocery stores, fresh produce markets, stores selling t-shirts, a community garden, etc. The location of this hotel was perfect for us as it is also a designated stop for the Capilano Suspension Bridge shuttle which we took to Capilano and back, no problem. (I highly recommend you do this, btw). The Wi-Fi in the room was free and worked perfectly. This hotel practices "green" measures and so we requested no maid service while we were there but the maid did check with us each day to see if we wanted or needed anything and she was an incredibly kind lady. We had one breakfast and one dinner in the hotel restaurant/bar ~ The Edge. The breakfast was very hearty and delicious. Our waitress was quick and pleasant. We had a beer one evening during happy hour and also excellent service. Our dinner was again good and we had a great server who was again very nice. All around fantastic service here but please note they do close at 10pm. They have specials every evening during happy hour which is 4pm to 7pm. Cannot say enough nice things about the service in this hotel - morning to night - excellent staff all day. We also walked just about five minutes away to Pho Central (again on Davies Street) and had some very good and extremely large portions of Vietnamese food one evening. The front desk and concierge were always helpful with instructions or answering questions. We were even given discount tickets to Capilano Suspension Bridge. A taxi to Granville Island was less than $10, both ways. A taxi to the cruise port was less than $10. Our taxi from the airport was set at $31 and it was a quick ride. Everything about our stay was pleasant and we would most certainly stay here again. The one big con of the stay came after we checked-out (there are many more pros I could write about) but it is something that still irks me and had I accessed Internet that day their rating would be a one not the four I've giving them today: On the day of our cruise we checked-out around 10:30am. Around 3pm that afternoon we realized we may have left something rather valuable and personal to us in our room (a small blue/teal makeup-like bag that held the valuable contents). I searched everywhere in our cruise cabin for this small bag and the last place I remember leaving it was on the desk in the hotel room. I called the hotel from the ship around 3:00pm and they told me they would check with housekeeping and then disconnected the call (this was a male voice). The Holland America representative then called the hotel for me and I was given a female who told me they had rang housekeeping but no one was answering and it might not be today until they knew - she was obviously busy and very annoyed by my request to please check today. When I explained to her that this bag held some valuable and personal items she could have cared less (I was almost in tears on the inside). She was quite snarky and said to me "What time is your ship leaving?" and when I replied "4pm" she replied "Well, are you going to come pick-up the bag today?" Well, no, I can't but I want to know if you have it or not. She then said there was no way to find out that same day whether or not they had the bag. I asked if she could check with lost and found and she said housekeeping handles all the lost and found. I asked if I could call back in an hour and again she said it would be the next day until they knew anything. She then took my cell phone number and said she would leave me a voicemail. I explained I would be in port the next day and would check my voicemail at that time to see if they had found the item or not. She was incorrigible, she wanted me off the phone, and she was very rude while I was heartbroken at losing the contents of this bag. I went back to my cruise cabin completely devastated. I never received a follow-up call from the hotel or a voicemail about the bag. They had my name, my phone number, and all of my information but never followed-up. Luckily, we had locked this bag in our safe in the cruise cabin and forgot.... but what if we had not? The way this was handled was the only sour note to our entire three-day stay.
