Best Western Royal Sun Inn & Suites

If you like older properties that have been well maintained and enjoy the charm of the older architectures, this might be the spot for you. We loved the fountain and garden area. While the rooms are indeed a bit dated, the essentials - appliances, TV's, fixtures, beds, locks - are all quite up to date and well maintained. It lacks the gleam of the latest chrome-and-glass wonders, but it is comfortable, inviting, and very reasonably priced. A short drive from the 4th Avenue district with quite a few interesting restaurants. It would be a great stop for a Route 66 themed trip. The complementary breakfast at the adjacent restaurant was excellent and a step up from the usual self-serve breakfast buffet unless you really want a LOT of food - and you can complement the free breakfast selections with other items are reasonable prices if you want. Service was great on all aspects. We would definitely come back!

The decor of this hotel is a desert theme that i really enjoy. The restaurant is excellent food and Ryan is just a super cool dude. Try the meatloaf sandwiches, You will enjoy this place. I highly recommend staying at this place.

See title; this room was filthy and in disrepair. The neighborhood was sketchy and populated by drug addicts and homeless. Police activity throughout the night when reported to management in the morning excuses made. I have pictures to share on the room onterior.

Lots of little unresolved issues that add up to an overpriced hotel and a lousy complimentary breakfast. No place to plug in phone for recharge; a bathroom light sensor that auto activates overhead light and awakens sleeping partner; late wake-up call for second time; items requested (microwave & extra pillows) not provided, though on second request did get pillows at least; terrible coffee in room; limited breakfast items and greasy, low quality food.; scratchy sheets/pillowcases.

I have stayed at a few BW's and thought this would be at least OK, especially with the location near downtown. It turned out to be so gritty that we couldn't even stay. The place was undergoing some renovation, so our room was in the middle of a kind of construction site. There was a bare mattress against the wall outside our unit, and some other junk on the other side of our door from the mattress. There was a truck and trailer with junk to haul away right next to our parking space, and then a dumpster next to that. The neighborhood nearby was about as unsightly as the room. We checked in and looked at other options. Radisson right downtown was the same price (plus $20 for parking), so we went with that and checked out. Half of our payment was refunded. The Radisson was much better. After this I know not to simply go with a place based on the Best Western brand. In spite of the name, the quality varies a lot. This was the worst of 5 BW's that I stayed at.

Our stay at this Best Western was the best part of our weekend. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, quiet room. Nice breakfast with several options available.Easy to find Best Western from interstate,

Fitness center not open until 8 am which doesn't work for most travelers. Hotel has strong chemical smell. Tubs appear old and dirty. Good location to downtown but neighborhood sketchy. Bed comfortable and lots of room. Do not recommend this hotel.

This place has a college campus kind of vibe and the restaurant is excellent. The have a meatloaf sandwich that is incredible. It's an older hotel and it needs remodeling, but the outdoor decor is very cool; palm trees, arched frames, fountains and just cool looking southwest decor.

Best Western Royal Sun treated us well for our one-night stay in October 2023. Our Friday evening check-in went smoothly; the front desk was staffed by the manager's daughter who welcomed me, provided water, explained the essentials, and directed me to my room. Carmen, the manager herself stopped by, too, and she was sincere and informative with her suggestions and evidently took pride in her property. I was surprised by their warmth, because my phone conversations with the lady on the phone had been less than ideal. She was curt, dismissive, and rather unpleasant. Our room was a suite, replete with an extra room with TV and sofa as well as full jacuzzi tub (of which we did not take advantage). Everything in the bathroom worked fine, including the water pressure in the shower. Our beds were comfortable although the pillows were oversized and left me with a sore neck. The air conditioning system filtered through the sink/washing area in the middle of the room, and unfortunately it was too loud. Thankfully the hotel left earplugs for the passing train – I needed it for the A/C. Beyond that, the room felt and looked dated (older carpet, older phone jacks, etc), and Cherry Wonderdog concluded it could stand an upgrade over the next few years. Breakfast was complimentary just a few steps away at the adjoining restaurant, Bumsted's. There was a good selection, and the pancakes, French toast, and eggs were all quite good. The meal only suffered from oily sausages, weak coffee (milk not provided), and a strong-armed server.

The photo on the website is of some other Best Western Inn and Suites do not be deceived. You have to go down a unlit dark back alley to get to the entrance of this hotel. It is more of a transient hotel.

If you have an opportunity to stay at the Best Wester in Tuscon, reconsider. The place is aged and quite dirty. The restaurant is about the same. Don't recomend eating there. The room carpet feels old and dirty. The shower barely spit out any water. TV remote would not work, even after the staff tried to fix it.

I stay here often for work throughout the years. 2023 rooms have new carpet from the renovation. Awesome looking courtyard in the middle of the hotel. Beto at the front desk makes my reservation, nice guy.

This is the third time I have stayed in this hotel. this time was very disappointing. We stayed in another part of the hotel than before. On day two of our 4 day stay we found that the carpet in our room was so dirty it turned the bottom of our bare feet black and the bottoms of our tan flipflops black. The room was poorly lit and the carpet dark colored, so we didn't realize it at first. Since the hotel was fully booked, we couldn't switch rooms. When I told the lady at the front desk when we checked out, she said "ok" - not even an apology! Room prices have increased but the musty smelling rooms, amenities, and cleanliness of rooms has not changed. Beds were comfortable. I cannot recomment this hotel anymore.

Rooms are large, perhaps too large. Internet works well. Breakfast is a voucher for a diner next door, with a fixed menu (6AM - 10AM). Food was good overall. The room was fine, mostly. Reasonably clean. Downsides: No bath tub. Rooms are VERY noisy - on 1st floor, you hear every foot step above you (every single one). It's seriously bad. The hotel provided ear plugs in the room, so you know it's a common issue. A loud fan might help mask the sound -- the hotel should consider providing that.

Front desk clerk was nice but also put us into an already occupied room. Manager was very nice and put us into another room but unfortunately the carpet stunk and the trash can right outside our door was overflowing and also stunk (98 degrees outside). Only ice machine working was next to the office which was the farthest point from our room that was at the very end of the hotel block. Breakfast was excellent.

Both front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. Vintage looking building, COMPLETELY updated and EXTREMELY clean. Plenty of parking. Complimentary delicious cooked to order breakfast at Bumsted's. It was NOT the usual hotel buffet breakfast.

The staff was pleasant and the facilities are clean and accommodating. Front desk attendant Mauro, is a great asset to Best Western for sure. He made sure to answer any questions we had and he let us know of attractions in the area. Mt. Lemmon was a great time. Thank you Mauro

GREAT hotel for the family. Rooms are clean. (The water is very HOT so beware of that). Very friendly; beakfast is great and Erin is an amazing hostess/waitress. This is our 4th visit here. Pool is crystal clear and the kids had a great swim - 8, 5, 3 and 1 year

Very clean, had refrigerator, micro, iron, magnified lighted mirror, coffee, maker. Also had nice lounge area outside the room, 2 chairs & small table, which had barrier walls for privacy. Free breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. I had No complaints. Very close to Centennial Hall. Great deal for your $$$. Very Friendly.

Angella gave us personalized attention with regard to the location of, and amenities in, our room. The room was spacious and met our needs. We enjoyed a quiet night and a good breakfast in the morning.

Had a short stay of 4 nights at Best Western Tucson. Note this is more of a motel than hotel.The hotel is just outside main centre but has a bus stop near. All buses in Tucson were free to travel at this time (Nov 2022) The ground floor room was big had all amenities.Onsite restaurant, we had free coupons for breackfast each morning, very good meals. there was also an onsite bar. Staff were very helpfull.

Great hotel. Angela at front desk super. Room was super clean. Quiet. Definitely will stay here again. Breakfast was good . Rooms were very large. Nice to have a restaurant next to hotel. Also easy to find off the freeway.

All was pretty nice, had a good and quiet stay at this property. I love the Karaoke Bar attached to this hotel, very good and fun . Breakfast was also good, nice couple who own this place. Would be back there if I was in Tucson. You can also walk to the city center, 14 min, very easy and safe

The motel is set back from the main street so there is no road noise. There is faint train noise but not bothersome. The outdoor pool was open in January. A full breakfast is available in the on-site restaurant. Though an older motel it is updated and clean. Angelia is a great receptionist and has been working there for over 20-years.

Despite how cold it was yesterday, I had a wonderful swim in the BW Royal Sun's large outdoor pool. I had a late dinner in the restaurant and it was good (the menu was so extensive that the waiter helped me narrow the choices down!). The free breakfast was excellent. The beds at this Best Western are especially comfortable.

Special thanks from Angela at the front desk who assisted with a reservation issue. Royal Sun Inn was clean, quite and comfortable. The breakfast was truly a complete one! The hotel is easy to spot driving on Stone Avenue. The secure parking and large size of the lot was appreciated.

Clean, spacious room. Comfy beds! Complimentary breakfast was delicious! Check-in was quick and easy. Rooms did not have funky smell. Fridge was included. Hotel was near downtown Tucson. Ample parking was available. Overall great hotel. I could tell it was well kept and up-to-date.

Cooked to order free breakfast now available until 10AM, heated deep pool, and friendly staff. I stay here every year for the holidays. It is easy to walk downtown and to 4th Ave. Central location makes it easy to drive to east or west side of town.

The staff at Best Western were very helpful. I had very lousy neighbors the first night and couldn't sleep. The administrator fully understood the situation. She upgraded me to a larger suite without incurring in additional charges since they did not have more rooms of equal characteristics as the one I booked. The rest of my nights were great.

The hotel was clean, good services and friendly staff. A staff try to help us book a room during midnight while other hotel was out all a room. A staff are super nice, help us look for a room ther meet with my request.

The room was very comfortable, clean and very well maintained. Location is very close to other restaurants and national park. Needs improvement, the shower curtain was not covering till the base of the shower and hence it was spilling water all over the bathroom making it messy. Provided the feedback to front office staff. Breakfast is very disappointing. We stayed in many properties of Best Western and they server way better variety / hot breakfast option than this location. This location has a dedicated restaurant but such less options to choose from is totally unacceptable for the standards of best western. Anything you ask they ask you to pay for it or disagree to customize it. Even the coffee was not hot.

Room was nice size, 2 queens. Good firm beds. An actual thermostat to control room temperature. Nice! Location was good, close to the university and the freeway. Security cameras all around property made me feel safe. Included breakfast was the star of the stay. Diner with multiple options for a filling breakfast. Staff was really pleasant and fun to be around. Great service and quality of food. Highly recommended.

We had a great overnight stay. Front desk staff was very good and we even got some exceptional travel suggestions along with printed maps. Breakfast was in the adjoining restaurant and cooked to order. It was very good

the staff was very friendly and efficient. They answered all my questions and were courteous. They wished me a Merry Christmas/happy holidays and gave me extra coffee packets to make coffee in my room. My room was always cleaned by the maids.

Satisfied with our Stay at Best Western Royal Sun Inn & Suites. Mid range & close to Tourist attractions. Great & Clean Downtown. Service was reasonably Above satisfactory. Restaurant , which is not part of this Hotel was okay but needs improvements in Breakfast menu & communicating with Guests.

Spent five nights at the Best Western Royal Sun and give them five stars, affordable, firm beds, friendly staff, good workout area, and Jacuzzi and excellent free hot breakfast every day at Bumsted's restaurant on the premises.

The rooms are clean, the grounds are well kept, they have a great jacuzzi and pool area, the rates are great, and it's just under a nice mile walk to downtown. We stayed there for a show at the Fox Theater, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The clerk at the desk came off a bit rough at first; but as the conversation flowed, she ended up a very nice lady. Jump on their offer of free breakfasts. You get decent coffee-shop style food, and some great coffee to start your day.

Very good, actually. excellent customer service, the front desk individual was very pleasant really knew her stuff, and they they upgraded us; and thanked us for being a Platinum Reward member and upgraded us to a suite. The breakfast in the restaurant next door was very tasty and a great wait staff!!

Very poor service for cleaning room not done 2 of the 4 days we're there, had to ask why our room was not cleaned, told they were busy checking people in and out. Restaurant we were given coupons for was terrible, food came out cold and wrong on plate, we were told to change it on our plate ourself

This is our favorite place to stay during our Tucson pit stops … super easy access on and off of I10 & the on site restaurant & bar are a bonus…unpretentious “down home “ goodness. The beds are comfy.

Pros: We'd stay there again. The location was ideal for us: easy access to I-10 and I-19, the university, downtown, and other parts of central Tucson. Our room was clean and very quiet. The staff were friendly. The jacuzzi was wonderful (we didn't use the pool). The landscaping is attractive. Cons: The TV channels were limited and hard to figure out because there was no channel guide. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The complimentary menu is very limited: for example, you have to pay extra if you want bacon with your oatmeal, which comes with a little fruit (when they have any) and toast and coffee. On our last day, the restaurant had NO EGGS and NO FRUIT. Unbelievable. Also on our last day, we got locked out of our room: when returned from our meagre breakfast, our electronic key didn't work. No one at the front desk could figure out how to fix the problem, and it took them ten minutes to realize that they could let us in with their master key. (They finally worked it out.)

We only stayed one night and the room features were dark, dirty and old. The spa room had a toilet that had obvious problems in the past and no one wanted to take a shower, let alone use the spa tub, as it had not been cleaned well. The sofa bed was lumpy, & very uncomfortable. The pool was not open and the fitness center was ok. The on site Bumstead's restaurant was average plus, which was a redeeming feature.

Nice suite. Two excellent TVs, but no Pac 12 channel. A channel guide would be nice. Two refrigerators. Hot tub looked nice but didnt use it. Breakfast okay. Carpet and couch could use cleaning. Decent price .

Angela is wonderful. We had a special request and she accomodated it. I called and could tell she was busy I asked if she wanted me to call back at another time and she said no I will do this right now. She quickly documented our request in reservation, assigned us a room and sent me a new confirmation. When we arrived, she handled our check in and we went to our room. A few minutes after being in the room she called to make sure everything was up to par and if we needed anything. I asked Angela about the fan and she said you have to put fan on auto and set thermostat to heat and to your temp you want. Well even on lowest temp setting it still made the room HOT and fan barely ran. If I put the temp higher, again room was HOT and fan barely ran. The room was hot and stuffy all night which made it difficult to sleep especially my daughter. SUch a bummer as we have been trying to find a hotel we are comfortable in in Tucson for some time now, especially with exterior corridors as that is so much easier. The room was pretty clean, a tad outdated. The train was an issue as well that night and there was a group of people in the courtyard having a good ole time until 2am, office staff did nothing so not much sleep from that either. You get a free breakfast at the restaurant next door, but they don't allow you to place your order over the phone and pick it up when ready. They want you to come in and eat. When I mentioned to the lady that that wasn't an option for us, she said then you will have to wait on hold for a good 30-45 minutes. She had already hung up on me once in the middle of our conversation. Second time staying there a week later. It was last minute as we had to cancel rest of our road trip and head home a week early. I called and asked if our special request could be met prior to making a reseration. It was granted then I made reservation but when we arrived to check in, the lady there (Clarissa something) was rude, not friendly, acted like she didn't want to be there or help us. She also wasn't fond of our special request and that I called earlier and was told it was granted. She then told me special requests are never guaranteed but I mentioned to her that I made sure our request could be met as there are no other options and that was why I first called to make sure it could be granted before reserving. She wasn't fond of that still. She started to tell me to go elsewhere but I told her that wasn't an option as we were guaranteed a room per our request (need ground floor due to no elevator and young lady in wheelchair) and it was late after a long days drive. She finally gave us a room. She was going to give me a ticket for our breakfast at the restaurant but I mentioned to her how they don't take phone orders for pick up and that going in there to eat is not an option for us so we don't need ticket. She just laughed. I do wish the hotel itself actually had coffee and at least a continental breakfast for those that don't want to eat at the restaurant or like us can't. Got to our room which was a nice room that wasn't the cleanest but oh well. We were only there to sleep and it did what we needed. I was just grateful we were accomodated and could stay the night. It was a pretty quiet night which was really nice but still had the same issue with not being able to get the fan to run, but opened the windows to get some air. I will bring fan with me next time we stay and not stay on a warm night. Next morning we ran into a few problems (nothing to do with hotel) causing us to run a little late but made check out time. Angela called about 15 -20 mins prior to checkout time to remind us what time check out was and asked to drop keys off. She sure runs a tight ship there which is great! I do look forward to trying this hotel again as we hope to visit Tucson for the holiday lights at the zoo and when we travel through on road trips, it is always our first and last nights stay. I am very apprehensive to stay when the temps are much warmer, especially warmer night temps but for cooler nights I don't mind the challenge with the fan issue and keeping room cooler and not stuffy.

This was a really nice place. Had a cook to order breakfast which was really good . comfortable beds and ear plugs to help you sleep. We did not use the ear plugs because we didn't notice any sounds that we needed them.

We would definitely stay here again. I booked a suite which was very spacious and comfortable. There was a bottle of iced wine on the bed with 2 glasses and some mints waiting for us. The breakfast provided at Bumsteads was very good and had a lot of options. We did the air and space museum and the Mission for sightseeing making this one of most memorable Anniversaries. Room was dated. Our room Needed carpet steam cleaned and house keeping did not clean room daily. We had to ask for clean towels every day. Beds are comfortable and staff is friendly. The complementary breakfast is wonderful and we really enjoyed the burger and meat loaf sandwich at the attached Bumsted's resturant.

Three nights in Tucson for business meetings. Good location minutes away from downtown. Area is near a park with homeless people, they sometimes wander thru hotel property, be aware of your surroundings. Full breakfast is included next to restaurant/bar. Second two mornings, two women in restaurant for breakfast very rude and condescending to not just us but all customers that we saw come in. They act like they are giving you a free breakfast, must, not realize hotel is compensating them for each guest. They will only give you one extra small cup of coffee refill, if you ask for more they ignore you. Hotel and restaurant owned separately. Older hotel, couple maintenance issues that could not be fixed, faucet loose, dresser drawers would not stay shut. On a good note, Amber who serviced our room was great, very helpful and polite. Be aware this hotel is near train tracks, trains all hour of day and night!!

The king suite was huge, with two 55 inch tvs. Room was clean and comfortable. Zero compliments. Will be staying here again when visiting Tucson. All the staff were terrific, the free breakfast in the restaurant bumsteds came in handy every morning, especially with the kids

The environment was pleasant and helped put me at ease. Everything about the room was comfortable and made sense. The restaurant and lounge are super convenient. The food and drinks were a premium experience. All things considered I got a lot for what I paid.

Nice location. The hotel was nice. The on-site resutrant had good food. Real close to the ollege and the local bar scene. There were train coming by but the hotel offers ear plugs if needed. We didn't need them.

We had a nice, large room with a Jacuzzi tub. The water pressure in the sink was super low; the shower was OK, but the tub probably would've taken a long time to fill. Be aware that the free hot breakfast is a restaurant next-door where you get an eight dollar credit. I think coffee was the only free beverage; I had to pay three dollars for a glass of milk. It was also three dollars if you wanted it to go. Aside from that, the food was pretty good.

Very clean and well kept property. Desk clerk seemed very preoccupied when I checked in and simply handed me my key cards and told me to check the boxes on the pay pad as they came up. Not a, "Hello, How Are You, Welcome", or any of that whatsoever. Good restaurant on the property called, "Bumstead's". Eclectic and a busy menu. Serving portions were huge!

The best thing about this Best Western was Angela who checked us in. She was super busy and the only one working, but was calm and handled everyone professionally. We were upgraded to a suite, but even though it was a non-smoking room, it still smelled musty. Our room had a jet tub, but it was old and gross. I don't think it had anything to do with the cleaning staff, it was just old and no way would I take a bath in it. The bed was comfortable. The reason we chose this Best Western was because of the location to Saguaro National Park and great restaurants nearby.

Really pleasant check-in experience. Even got upgraded to a jacuzzi room when we arrived too late for the outdoor hot tub. Thank you!! That really made our night. I loved the retro look of the hotel and diner next door.

Check in was a breeze. Angela was amazing, patient, knowledgeable and even called us in the room to ensure We were pleased. However, it wasn't until we returned later from dinner that we realized the noise we heard from the vents was t just AC. It was ongoing and loud. Thankfully, we were able to change rooms for tonight's stay (Day 2). The pool is clean and the rooms are lovely.

nice location, clean rooms, nice pool. Breakfast at restaurant was very good with lots of choices. evening staff not overly helpful, had to request AARP rate several times before she looked it up & applied. Morning staff very friendly. Would stay again.

We have stayed here frequently and have no complaints. Close to downtown and numerous restaurants and activities. Need a car to get around for the most part, although bus stop nearby. Great made-to-order breakfast.

Great room very comfortable beds. Great location right off the freeway. Breakfast vouchers. Room was very clean. Girl at the front desk was very helpful and super fast got us checked in really quick.

Great location, Large room, appreciated the free real breakfast and free parking. Comfy new bed mattress, amazing large TV. Front desk staff very nice. Did not like the carpet and the strong chemical spray in the room. The carpet was damp and dirty to walk on. Kind of creepy, and the smell will give you a sore throat from he chemical perfume.

Very convenient location close to highways, downtown Tucson and University of Arizona campus. Very friendly personnel, fast check in and check out. And the last maybe the most important - excellent breakfast.

I had a Pastramie sandwich that rivaled the best ones I had in Los Angels. The sounds the water,the pool very relaxing.Im planning a trip back with my Husband and we will stay 3 Days next time.

This hotel is a great hotel from the grounds to the rooms! The guest services are top notch, and the staff is friendly and professional. They offer a complimentary breakfast that is actually made to order in the connecting restaurant. The food and service are fantastic! I highly recommend this hotel while staying in Tucson, AZ.

Hotel was great. Angela at the front desk is terrific. Staff is nice. The rooms were big and the front sitting area was great. The pool and hot tub were in great condition and we used them a lot. The location of the motel is very close to everything we were going to see and do.

We enjoyed our second stay at this property. Friendly, efficient reception. Clean room as ND amenities. Everything in working order. Nice complimentary breakfast. Centrally located with easy access to all Tucson attractions. Looking forward to staying here again.

Stayed here 4 days after staying 7 days a a nearby Hyatt. Changed b/c Hyatt wanted another $31 per night. BW's rate was actually a bit lower than the original rate charged by Hyatt. The best part is that the room, breakfast, service, pool, location, rate, everything at BW was better. The room was spacious and the bed firm (not saggy on one side like the bed at Hyatt). It was far less noisy as well. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it.

Really nice experience. Great restaurant next door where we enjoyed breakfast. We will be coming back soon. Very close to Arizona campus and convenient to visit our son. Room was nice and clean. Located on the main highway to campus so very convenient.

had bathroom light fall into toilet and a waterfall from the upstairs jacuzzi, asked around other hotels I service and this is common.at 11:00pm when we were asleep, loud bang in bathroom, running water, found bathroom light in toilet, wires hanging , with water from upstairs jacuzzi, I learned to book upstair hotel rooms to avoid this from happening to me agin

As I always love to stay at BW when traveling and I need a rest stop because of the accessibility to get in and out easily from the road. The front desk person was so helpful and professional. Room was very clean.

Spacious room! Tidy! Best part is the hot breakfast made to order! Perfect for families! Staff and attendants are super friendly and we didn't feel like we are in a new place. Pool also is well maintained even though we didnt use it.

As always this Best Western location was well lit, clean, felt safe and inviting. The internet, TV, and other room amenities all worked as well or better than expected…always a relief when checking in to a room..I feel I must mention front desk employee, Alisha Hernandez, who was super knowledgeable and helpful to myself and my family. Really a standout employee.

Older location, but decent place to stay. Adjoining restaurant operated on contract with hotel has a lot to improve with customer service. Simply put, we are public health professionals in our state, and meet other public health professionals from around the country at continuing education seminars and conferences. We ended up reaching out to the local inspectors after our visit to the restaurant, because of our multiple concerns. A case number was provided, and we were advised and inspection was made where corrective action notice was provided. Bottom line, enjoy the hotel, skip the adjacent restaurant. There is plenty of other good local (and national chain) food nearby.

Clean rooms great breakfast and great value! I have stayed here several times for business and I it always hits the mark for me. I don't need anything fancy. The beds are sometimes a little hard but overall everything else was great!

This was a last minute decision to stay in Tucson. Site made hotel appear nice, but upon arrival you could tell it had seen better days. Pool was not working and people were making food in the parking lot. Had to work in the toilet to get it work right and the sink didn't drain properly. Carpeting was torn and was noisy throughout the night.

Angela, the Front Desk Manager was outstanding. The room and grounds were clean and the jetted tub was heavenly. I hate giving reviews on Trip Advisor, but this was worth the time and annoyance to make sure that the Staff are appreciated. they do a very good job in the center of Tucson. I have already stayed there again.

Loved this hotel and for the price it was perfect Staff was very polite, rooms were clean. They had a jacuzzi tub that was awesome very much needed. I'll always stay here when I'm in town. Of course there is breakfast available with your stay

Nice renovations. Easy check in and out. Clean rooms. Small parking lots for big trucks. Looks like a bad area of town but turned out pretty nice. They also provide ear plugs in case the train noise bugs you.

Had a pleasant time. Room was great. Was nice that Angela called to check to see that everything was good with the room. They also upgraded us to a suite which I never asked for. The breakfast was also great. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but we do understand that nothing replaces your bed at home.

Very clean facility with cable tv and a nice pool and workout room. Breakfast at the attached restaurant was complimentary and especially nice as the restaurant was run by local couple with a great sense of humor. I would definitely go back if I were passing through Tucson.

This was an excellent stay. We were in town for a wedding close by. The hotel was very clean with lots of parking. The room was very clean and comfortable. The pool looked inviting as it was very clean and picked up but we did not have a chance to get in. Breakfast was very very good. Although service wasn't the greatest (thumbs up to the cook). I would definitely use book here again. Was a little disappointed that they would not give us a late check out because I could have used another hour of sleep as the bed was comfortable.

Breakfast is according to the menu, if you only want toast, you have to pay for it. Any small change, costs extra, even if you do not want other side dishes. The coffee is also refilled only twice. And the staff at breakfast is rude.

My only qualm..but its not personal..rates are up everywhere..i only stay at Best Westerns.. We were in Tucson .for a U of A graduation. DONT let the surroundung neighborhood scare you..stay was great

The lobby was crowded with a 20 min wait to check in. The room key was not programmed correctly, so there was another wait to get the corrected room key. They treat everyone as a thief as they hold a $150 deposit, then refund it a day after you leave. The rooms are clean and quiet. The pool is clean and well maintained.

This hotel was a little out of the way for us, but a vast improvement over our last stay (elsewhere). The room was very nice, clean and everything worked! Bonus was free WIFI, parking and breakfast. It would earn another star if there were electric car charging ports, but maybe in the future. The hotel had a restaurant and bar on site, a nice outdoor pool and helpful staff. It was a relief to go there when under such a stressful situation.

Our room on the ground floor by the fountain plaza was clean, comfortable, quiet, dark and a good price, especially with the cooked to order breakfast at Bumsteads. Angela at the front desk and reservations was very helpful and friendly.

We are BW Rewards members and this is our second time at this motel. This is an older property, but it is completely updated and well maintained. Landscaping is mature and groomed. We parked right in front of our room. There is a restaurant/lounge on site. Motel guests are offered a free, cooked to order breakfast (from a smaller, but totally adequate menu). Now the best attribute of this motel is the front desk help. Angela has helped us on both our stays and she is a "jewel". She is helpful and pleasant, and she knows her"stuff". If you have questions, or need help with anything Best Western, she can help!

The rooms were adequate - the bedding and bathroom were clean. Carpeting was dirty. The whole facility is a bit shabby, but the staff was very pleasant. The property is in a good location for visiting sites around Tucson. The diner/bar next door to the hotel was very good.

Centrally located, close to the University and 4th Avenue. Easy access to downtown and Saguaro National Monument. Pool and rooms were quite clean, helpful staff and the free breakfast was as good as it gets...for free!

This is a fairly standard Best Western, half an hour's walk away from the downtown area on a busy road. It's worth paying extra for the Suites, which are much roomier. The decal is beige and brown and tragic, the carpets feel plastic, but the rooms contain everything you need. Breakfast is in the diner style restaurant and is good although coffee replenishment was slow. The housekeeping definitely fell short - either they didn't turn up or it was really a lick and a promise.

Our room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The pool and hot tub were clean and enjoyable and the staff is friendly and helpful. We especially like the breakfast at Bumsted's restaurant. It's far better than the standard hotel breakfasts!

The hotel is a little tired and in need of renovation. Air conditioning units in particular are extremely noisy, making it difficult to leave them on overnight. The front desk staff were friendly and cooked to order breakfast is very welcome.

The front desk receptionist was warm and receptive! Our room was clean and quiet even though the hotel was fully booked. I was recognized as a Diamond Rewards member, given a couple of water bottles and awarded 500 points. I would stay here again!

This is an older but well maintained property with friendly and helpful staff. We were upgraded to a large suite which came in handy as we travel with bicycles and need to bring them inside each night. The best part of the stay was the breakfast in the morning at Bumsteds. There are ample selections and the portion sizes are healthy, the food is tasty, and the service is friendly. You can't ask for much more.

Everyone is so friendly and beds are comfortable and you get plenty of pillows. We love the breakfast and the fact that there is a bar on property is definitely a big bonus. Excellent food. It's very close and convenient to downtown businesses.

This is an older property with outside corridors and no elevator to the second floor. I did like the fact that there were semi-private sitting areas with no smoking allowed outside each door, that allowed you to enjoy the Tucson weather. The room was small, but well appointed with a refrigerator and an occasional chair in addition to the desk and chair provided. The room was clean and the TV remote in a bag. What I liked most about the stay was the adjoining restaurant with free breakfast. You were given a choice of 8 different breakfasts. The ones we had were very good with friendly service.

This Best Western has been our "stay to " place in Tucson for almost 15 years. Consistency is the key I can count on it being a good experience.The location is great for the desert museum and easy freeway access as well as getting downtown to 'Old Tucson. Parking is good and there is a restaurant within the premises.

Hotel was in a very convenient location and felt safe and comfortable. It was a generally quite location with a small bit of train noise, but nothing that kept us awake. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. The bathroom and whirlpool tub were a bit outdated and tub looked old with some stains and cracked tile, but it still seemed clean. The pool and hot tub were very nice! We enjoyed the breakfast very much and thought it was much nicer than your typical hotel breakfast. Overall a nice stay!

Clean, convenient to downtown, comfortable bed, quiet. Did not like jacuzzi tub because of height getting in and out of shower. New sofa needed. TVs are small. Breakfast in hotel restaurant is slower than a typical buffet option. Can't say I loved the place. Overall, okay.

I was pleasantly surprised with many aspects of my stay. I called from the Phoenix airport to let the front desk know I was running late and was on my way. I was told not to worry, to travel safely, and I was given great directions to the motel. Very helpful since I had never been to Tucson. My room was clean and comfortable. I especially appreciated the fully lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom, the earplugs provided, the walk in shower (no tub - which is fine with me), and the full breakfast at Bumsted's restaurant (on the property). The location was also great for all the things I was doing in the area.

Hotel is centrally located to downtown shops and restaurants, it has a good restaurant on site with free breakfast, and also has a lunch and dinner menu. Rooms were ok but nothing special. Pool and jacuzzi are well located. Very friendly staff.

Whoever named this establishment the royal suites must have had a sense of humor. A Shoddy remodel fails to compensate for this building shortcomings. I would hardly call this a proper suite. The sitting room is small and consists of a couch in front of a TV. It opens to a small balcony but overlooks a parking lot. Wallpaper is peeling away from the walls. The bathroom is a remodel inside of a large closet, and the sink essentially blocks the toilet. There is no effective sound insulation between floors. This will give you a place to sleep and get you off the street but it is an overpriced establishment that fails to live up to its name.

There is no mention on any advertisement that there is train noise each time a train comes to a nearby crossing. There is no mention of a church nearby that begins bells at 4 a.m. and continue incessantly at 6 a.m.. They don't mention that noise is so bad the property provided ear plugs in the room (first time I learned noise might be a factor)

Our bed was uncomfortable and the hotel is older. Furniture in our room was broken. Desk staff was kind and professional, breakfast was super yummy. The bar is loud and rowdy until they close. I am unsure if this is a usual occurrence as we only stayed one night,

As close to downtown as you can get, without being downtown. Safe overall. Amazing staff that's very friendly and willing to help. The outdoor pool was actually heated and enjoyable. Would stay here again in the future. As much coffee as you need in room!

Visiting the university and picked this one for location. Loud trains over night, sirens, homeless, and aged appliances and amenities. If the price were less it would have been fine but it was high for the terrible night sleep we got.

Ideal place to stay if you are attending the Rock and Gem Show. Central to those exhibits on the north end of Tucson. Found mineral specimens at Barlow's, Bruce and Debbie Barlow owners. This venue is about 10 blocks from the Best Western. American Indian Venue is also close.

Place was clean, price was affordable, friendly staff, good breakfast, clean rooms, and had a whirlpool tub in bathroom, which made every night a rest full night. Easy parking and close to everything we wanted to do. Very enjoyable experience staying at this hotel.

Multiple things didn't work, tv wouldn't come on, major light bulb in bathroom was burnt out, and worst of all the hotel placed charges on our credit card for more than double what our total cost was expected to be.

We stayed at the Royal Sun while visiting family that lives in the neighborhood. It was handy but the rooms are dated. The free breakfast is great and the staff is always pleasant. The price is reasonable and we will probably stay there again, just wish they would update the rooms.

We had a king with sofa. Room was comfortable and spacious. Front desk staff were professional and pleasant. Angela and another receptionist were very helpful in providing info to enhance our stay. The one disappointment is that the breakfast they offer in their restaurant must be eaten inside with no provision for those who are not comfortable with inside dining. Even a bagged grab n go muffin and yogurt would have sufficed or we would have understood a service charge to cover the cost of togo containers. But overall this was our second stay here and we were happy again.

We wanted to be near the center of activity since it was 12/25 and we knew few things would be open. We were very happy with the location. Checkin was easy, quick and friendly service. Room and bed were fine. Found a fun restaurant that was open and had a drink afterward at Che! Great trip.

The people were fantastic, the accommodations great, and the breakfast was outstanding. The location was excellent. The upkeep of the property was worthy of special note. We were provided a extra special surprise with and upgrade for our stay. A very nice perk.

Very clean and well situated. The room smelled a little musty but that was because of where the HVAC was set. I'd suggest a simpler thermostat that is easier to use. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Room was well appointed and in good, clean condition. It's a shame the property is split by an alley.

Location was very dated and needs updated. Carpet was very dirty. Trains went by all night blowing horns. Floors must be very thin, the people above my room very noisy. Went to Bumsted's to use my breakfast coupon at 7;30am, out of fruit, granola and yogurt. The only nice things I can say are that the bed was very comfortable, room was large, shower was hot and the front desk folks were very nice and friendly and professional.

It was a really nice clean room. We were traveling with our 2 dogs and it is nice finding something clean and affordable. The staff was very nice as well. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for allowing dogs!

Room was clean. Shower, no tub, but it had hot water. Room was quiet enough. TV was a flat screen and large enough. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was much better than average, equal to what you would get at Denny's or IHOP. I would stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel for many years and always enjoyed it. I stayed there in May and had a great room. This time , not so much. The concrete walkways around the rooms are dirty. My room did not have a fridge. It's like the place is going to seed. Don't know if I will stay there again. For their price there is a lot of other nicer places to stay.

The rooms were clean. The hotel provides vouchers for breakfast to the restaurant across the way, the food was very good. The overall experience was great. Staff for both the restaurant and the hotel were friendly.

Very Good location, Very spacious rooms. WONDERFUL staff! Made a reservation on the road on the way there. Made an error in the reservation, and staff helped me fix it even though they did not have to. At check in, got a visual tour of property from outside the lobby, which was very nice. They also made great restaurant recommendations and a place for an emergency tire repair! The property is a bit older (they said 1963), but VERY well maintained, so has a genuine classic look and appeal. Very nice grounds. Breakfast is in a restaurant just across the main driveway into the property. About 10 items on the complimentary made-to-order menu. We'll definitely return to Tucson and definitely choose this hotel again!

Nice, friendly, efficient staff that was very helpful. The room and grounds were very clean and well kept. The adjoining restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and efficient. Food selection was limited but it was fresh and tasty.

This was not in the best neighborhood and a 25 minute walk to restaurants. Earplugs provided because they have karaoke nights. $299 a night was unacceptable for no maid service, no water provided in rooms upon checkin, Jet bathtub looked sketchy and room smelled like cigarettes

I found this Best Western as i was driving into Tuscon from a long drive out of San Antonio. I had travelled 882 miles in one day and was totally beat. I chose to stay in a room with a king size bed. I call it the king suite cause man was this room sweet. by far one of the nicest rooms i have stayed in. The shower was awesome and the adjoining room with sink and towels was roomy. The front desk recommended the on-site bar and restaurant. This too is one of the best restaurants i've gone to that's connected to a hotel. Most other hotel restaurants are seriously an after thought. the food was well portioned and the night life of the bar was lively. I suppose being next to a university is a plus lol. Great stay, clean room, good food and friendly staff. Will be staying at this hotel again anytime i find myself in Tuscon.

The suite we were assigned was nice. It was modern. It was quiet. The parking was convenient. The grounds of the motel were well maintained. The bed was comfortable. The carpet was clean. The cooked to order breakfast was a nice perk.

My family and I stayed at the Royal Sun Inn & Suites 9/21/21. We were in Tuscan to see the Gold Over gymnastics tour. Our suite did not resemble pics on line. Tub stained, carpet very dirty and hard beds.

I was in town spending my birthday with my family and chose this place based on location. I didn't really have expectations, but when we got there the customer service was amazing. They upgraded my room for free for my birthday. The ladies who checked me in and out wished me a happy birthday. My room was clean and very presentable. Overall my experience was incredible. Will definitely stay here again.

Terrible experience my room was not cleaned thoroughly we are still in a COVID-19 pandemic. Refrigerator had old ice cream in it that was melted and everywhere there was old butter in the fridge the couch had trash clearly sticking out of it the trash cans were not emptied and the bathtub was dirty very clear and evident that my room was not cleaned. I was offered some rewards points as compensation the next day I had to let housekeeping in my room to clean my room again I left the room at 11:30 AM and returned at 2:30 PM and the room still was not finished being clean I did not get access to my room until 3 PM at that time I went back in the room and the trash was still in the couch and there was actually a piece of steak left on the carpet that was missed from the trash housekeeping definitely needs to be trained. Completely disappointed and unsatisfactory

We had a great 3 night stay here at the Royal Inn and Suites in August 2021. We were dropping off our freshman at the University of Arizona. The location to UA was awesome! It was too hot outside to actually walk it (will try that in October when we head back) but the drive was around 5 minutes to campus. We stayed here based on the location. We did hit the pool everyday which felt really good in the Arizona heat. There were no towels though by the pool and you had to hike over to the check in building to get towels. Also, there were no coverings over the metals bars to get in and out of the pool. You really just had to dive in because there was no other way in without scalding your hands! The hotel is more "motel like" which wasn't appealing at first. However, I did really enjoy having chairs outside our door to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Every sign showed no smoking but I could smell smoke everywhere we went. Many guests were just sitting the chairs outside their rooms smoking and it was hard to escape. The front desk staff was exceptionally nice! They would bend over backwards to make sure you had everything you needed. We had no conditioner in our shower and 3 different people came by to replace it and make sure we had everything. We did see housekeeping walking by outside with their carts and they always greeted us and asked if we needed anything. It's easy to overlook the minor issues we encountered and the run down state of the hotel when the staff was so friendly and accommodating wanting to make it right.

My "go to" hotel for Tucson, never disappoints.Great location for downtown or the UofA. On site free breakfast is made to order and darn good. One star off, because the 'Rona is over and the property needs a bit of a refreshment, but it's very clean and comfortable.

Nice location and property, do need a car to stay in his location, but there is a nice cafe / bar on property, with frequent entertainment. BW offers a full sit down breakfast at the cafe next door. ( although on property, the cafe is not under BW management ). The hotel offers ear plugs, but we have never needed them, and the hotel is approx. 1/2 mile off I-10.

Front desk staff was friendly; our room (104) was very conveniently located on the ground floor close to the lobby; it was clean, comfortable and very dark at night with good blackout curtains. The complimentary breakfast to order at Bumstead's was quite tasty and we enjoyed immensely the CHIVETV videos on the large screen TVs in the restaurant! We will make this our headquarters as we visit our grandson in grad school at U of A!

We live in Phoenix and make trips every now and then to Tucson to visit some of our favorite places. We have stayed at the Best Western Royal Sun several times. We find the rooms clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub are also clean and we have enjoyed using them. One feature we find unique is the free complete hot breakfast served in a restaurant setting. The breakfast is always very good and cheerfully served. The hotel is convenient to the freeway and close to our favorite places.

The diner next door is great for breakfast. Rooms have been updated and were very clean. No problems, issues, concerns. I needed a place to crash for the night. The amenities next door were more than accommodating,

The location was not very good there was noise all throughout the night the suite was very nice the regular rooms were subpar AC didn't work well breakfast was subpar because they made it pay just to take it upstairs overall I would give it a 5 out of 10 and it has room for improvement

The staff were helpful, bathrooms could use some updating but the breakfast at Bumsteads was so incredible that it made up for any issues with the hotel. I would go back just for the breakfast. Hands down best breakfast at a hotel that I've ever had. And I do love the set up of the hotel and the courtyards.

We just stayed at the Royal Palms BW for a family reunion. The highlight of our stay was the hot breakfast offered at the adjacent restaurant, Bumstead's, which was part of our package. There is a set menu, but the selections are top quality, perfectly prepared and served by the friendliest staff. Our family gathered for breakfast each morning and the delicious food and kind service was truly a highlight of our trip. Also- I am a vegetarian and there were deliciously prepared vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu- a rare treat. We enjoyed several dinners, appetizers and baked from scratch desserts and each meal was consistently top quality with generous portions. Traveling with children isn't always easy but Bumstead's was always there for a quick and delicious bite to eat.

We stay at this hotel every time we visit Tucson. It is a great value for the money. It is clean, the staff professional and the beds are super comfortable. It is also very convenient to downtown Tucson and to the University of Arizona.

Business trip stay so all I needed was a place to sleep and shower. Check in was quick and Ashley was very friendly. Room was dated and worn but it was clean,spacious and had a fridge. Free made to order breakfast was a nice bonus. We did here trains in the early evening but other that a heavy rain we heard no other noise after 9pm. If you just need a place to stay right off the freeway for a night or two this one isn't a bad choice

After a 860 mile drive from Carmel and reading most of the Trip Advisor reviews for Tucson I decided we should try the Best Western Royal Sun. We were greeted by Angela and she is the most pleasant as others describe. Entering our cool room (outside temp at 115) and taking our things easily from the parked car we both commented This is Really a Nice Room! Spotless and refreshing! My husband is on a liquid only diet and hoped the adjoining restaurant offered soup. William, the host, was most enthusiastic and sympathetic. Lots on the menu but NO soup. William suggested he bring the box of soup and he would heat it up in a bowl. And the chef fried an egg (not on dinner menu). I had a piece f meatloaf and glass of house wine from the bar. Delicious! William, Angela, the comfortable bed and linens, good shower made our stay one of the best on our journey. Highly recommend this over the generic chain hotels. Oh I forgot to mention: after checking into our room the phone rang?!? Angela from the front desk checking on us to make sure everything was ok with the room. And to assure us someone was at the front desk 24 hrs. We left early before the restaurant opened for our complimentary breakfast prepared from an extensive menu. Not the typical breakfast bar. I never write but always read and use travelers reviews. I am so impressed with this hotel I felt compelled to share with others.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Royal Sun Inn. I requested that the two rooms I had reserved be close to each other and they were right next door! And being on the ground floor was super convenient since we had brought along our little dog...and we were happy to pay the $25 pet fee, too! And the (free) made to order breakfast at the restaurant next door was wonderful, too.

The front desk attendant (I think her name was Angela?) was incredibly kind and accommodating. I had concerns about my car as I had some valuable items inside and she made sure I had a good parking spot and even told the next person on shift that night to keep an eye on it for me.

The front desk guy was very nice. We were in a corner section of the hotel, but with 3 gals we felt comfortable and so were the beds. It was quite for most of the night. Some guy came into the outer hall and screamed, perhaps he had a bad nightmare, but soon he went away. We slept good and had a decent shower. We went to the restaurant onsite to have breakfast as they made it to order. The food was good, a nice choice. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head down and sleep, not a bad place off the hwy.

Room needs work, bedding, lighting need improvement. I had a king jacuzzi room, tub was very difficult to use and it was the base of the shower. Bath room was very dark and exhaust fan did not shut off. Several lighting fixtures in room did not work. Bedding needs to be updated.

The hotel was visually a masterpiece. From the beautiful fountains, to the metal southwestern decor adorning the 2nd floor railings. It's very impressive upon arrival. The interior of the suites are a bit dated, and they clearly went for style over substance, but the beds were comfy and it was overall a good experience. While normally a day trip, I'd stay here again the next time I need to stay overnight in Tucson.

Check in was quick and easy no stress there I saw that they had a pool and hot tub I wished l had jumped in the pool to cool down would be a relief from the heat. Room comfortable good quiet a/c which you really need bed was good walk in shower everything very clean and comfortable. The area where you are is walkable to the downtown area which is really interesting you do have also walkable restaurants etc all in all a good spot to stay in. Would certainly go back again.

We were traveling from California to Florida . Tucson was our first and last stop. After staying there the first night we decided to stay there on the return trip as well. It was very clean and comfortable.

I have stayed at MANY Best Westerns and have always had a nice time, and have stayed at this particular one before. Unfortunately this stay at this particular Best Western wasn't that great. The bed was so hard that it felt like sleeping on a pool table. The sofa bed was broken, they said it would be fixed, but it never was. Also it was covered something that I'm actually glad it wasn't usable. The first morning the water pressure for the sink and tub was very low and in the middle of my shower the water just shut off. The second day the pressure was again super low. We were warned to make sure there was nothing in our car and that it was locked up because many cars get broken in to. We got luckily that that didn't happen, but to say some unsavory characters were in that parking lot at night is putting it lightly. If it wasn't for the front desk, the maintenance, and housekeeping staff this Best Western would have gotten one star.

We enjoyed a quick comfortable stay. He enjoyed the sitting area, I enjoyed the jetted tub, and we both enjoyed the comfy bed. Too bad we slept in because breakfast menu looked yummy! Easy check-in and express checkout made it headache free.

I booked this room as an overnight in-town getaway. Living in Tucson I was concerned with the location but read the reviews, many of which stated they felt safe and enjoyed their stay. I booked a king suite with jacuzzi, mostly because my partner and I needed a stress-free place to stay for the weekend (the honey-do list is long)! Once we checked in and were in the room, I started the water in the tub. As soon as I ran the jets, a TON of disgusting matter shot in to the tub. My partner took a cup of this to the front desk - where they apologized and credited our stay 25%. The front desk stated they cannot find anyone in Tucson who will service their jacuzzi tubs. We ran the tub and jets four separate times and it never ran clean, so the entire reason for my booking this particular room was moot. I am thoroughly disgusted with the entire thing, and it makes me wonder just how clean the rest of our room was - let alone the hotel pool and hot tub - especially during these COVID times. We had dinner at Bumsteads and it was amazing - the food/staff there is the only reason this review isn't at 1 star - they deserve 5 stars! Once back at our room and in bed, a party in the suite/on the balcony above us started. Truth be told, I was expecting gunshots to start ringing out. Had my partner not been asleep when the party started, we would have just checked out then and not stayed the night. The only reason this review is not 1 star is the food and service at Bumsteads was amazing.

I've enjoyed BW hotels, however, this is more like a Motel instead of a hotel. There is no elevator and the noise level from people outside is apparent. They do leave earplugs in the room. Also, they recently allowed for full cooked to order breakfast but there was no 'to-go' option. I was told you had to eat inside only and couldn't take it outside. This was disappointing as I needed to leave very early. Room was clean, however, the strong cleaning odors forced me to leave the door open for a while as it hurt my lungs. The door knob had to use force to open. The bed was okay (firmer than I prefer) and the rest of the room was well equipped. I do not like to leave less than a 5 star review but since this BW was more like a Motel, I thought I'd share my experience so others can know what to expect.

We really enjoyed our stay at the motel. The staff was friendly, the service was excellent and the rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The outside pool and hot tub area allowed us to relax after a fun day of exploring the area.

We recently stayed at the Best Western Royal Sun Inn. It's a motel style property with exterior doors. Between hiking and going to Tombstone, we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. Here's what I liked about my stay: - phenomenal made to order breakfast!! The food was delicious and they offered quite a variety for the complimentary breakfast. The restaurant workers were also very friendly and outgoing. - the front desk staff and housekeeping was super friendly and attentive. With covid they don't do the daily housekeeping which wasn't an issue for us. I had some random requests that housekeeping provided right away. - excellent location. We appreciated being within walking distance from 4th Ave. where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. - spacious rooms! We stayed in a suite with 2 queen beds. There was a living space with couch and TV and a door separating it from the bedroom. The beds were super comfortable and the vanity area had plenty of counter space which I appreciated. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning it...the room was spotless when we arrived. We didn't take advantage of the pool or hot tub but we stopped by the area. Looked nice...the hot tub was bigger than I expected. Things that could be better: -the jetted tub in the bathroom is really old and should be replaced. It detracts from the room. Even replacing with a regular bathtub would be better. (In my opinion) - there is a train that is nearby. Honestly, it didn't bother me at all...I slept right through it but it could bother some people which is why I mention it. I appreciated that they supplied ear plugs. Worked like a charm! - the exterior could be freshened up. All in all, I was happy with my stay and will likely stay here again next time I'm in Tucson. It's a great value, comfortable, spacious room and the complimentary breakfast is delicious! It definitely exceeded my expectations. :)

Great location for us. Easy access to freeway but not too close. Staff friendly and helpful, facilities and room clean. Parking adequate and also clear of debris. Attached bar nice for an evening cocktail.

Everyone on staff is very friendly, the rooms are very clean. Restaurant food is great, Bumsted's bar is so fun. Prices are reasonable. We enjoyed star gazing from the spa each night. Highly recommend this hotel. It is very close to downtown Tucson.

We always enjoy our stay in Tucson, partly because we enjoy the Best Western Royal Inn & Suites so much. The recent updates to the rooms are nice to see. We always enjoy the full, hot cooked breakfast provided every morning. Also the on site restaurant has an extensive menu and very good food. The bar, attached to the restaurant, has excellent drinks/beers and Karaoke Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

My friend and I chose this hotel due to the easy walk to historic 4th St. The staff there is amazing! Extremely nice and helpful, they go out of their way to provide excellent service. The comp breakfast is fabulous and fun, in a diner style restaurant. The pool and hot tub were nice. And as an added perk, there is super fun karaoke right next door, 7 days a week! I will stay at this hotel every time I go to the Tucson gem shows.

Noisy (train whistles, day and night) and lacked daily room care. We had to go to the office daily to get towels, washcloths and toilet paper (1). Parking was tight. Best breakfast you will find anywhere.

The place was clean, although the bathroom was small and overall the room (we had a suite) was dated. The employees were helpful. A full breakfast was provided by the restaurant next door. It was good!

We liked this hotel because it is in a good location. We used it as our base for seeing Tucson area. We went to see National Parks and Bisbee and Tombstone. The room was comfortable and relaxing. There were a few details that we didn't like. One was the timers on the lights, which go out after a while. This includes all the light switches on the walls. Also the room was out of shampoo and conditioner. I liked that they use eco friendly wall containers for the shampoo etc. I did report this but since no one made up our room, we didn't get that done. There was a refrigerator.. I didn't like that there was no microwave. I loved the free breakfast and they had vegetarian options. On day 2 we hung the room tag on the door to say please make up our room. However it fell on the ground probably due to the wind and we did not get our room made up. That was not a huge problem but just a little disappointing. I liked that the room was large and there was plenty of room to do our yoga. We used the pool on the evening of day 2 and we had it all to ourselves. There is also a hot tub.

We had a complimentary cooked to order breakfast! Tofu, fruit, whole wheat bread for me and hash browns, eggs, bacon and sourdough bread for my husband! Amazing food. Our room was updated retro with a convenient walk in shower. We loved the location and staff and the ease of finding the hotel from I 10.

I was there for 12 nights while my husband was in the hospital. Every staff member was kind and considerate and met my every need. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. About 10-12 plates to choose from and if none of them satisfied a person they are the problem not the restaurant. It is pet friendly and while there my aged dog got sick and my grown children transported her a 4 hour drive back to my vet for treatment. As it turned out, we lost her. The following day when I notified front desk I no longer had a pet in the room-I got a very nice sympathy card with their condolences. Part of my stay was in March 21 and part in April 21.

I paid for a room that had a jacuzzi inside of it and the 1st room the jacuzzi was broken the 2nd there was no stopper to hold the water in and the desk just told me sorry thanks for letting us know. I wouldn't have paid $170 for a regular room.

We stayed and got king suite for 2 nights and ended up needing it for another night but they were booked up. I had 3 adults and 3 kids in our group...well Maria at the front desk did everything she could so we didn't have to pack everything up last minute and have enough space for us all...wasn't a suite but 2 queen beds and a pull out room in front of the pool was good. The rooms were clean and the restaurant by day/bar, club by night that is on the property was good and boomin at night. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone.

This property was excellent. We were close to the University, and had a ton of time to visit with our child. The breakfast was exceptional and ALL of the staff was so kind and ready to please. WE will stay here from now on when we visit Tucson.

For 20 plus years I have booked Best Western world-wide. I have had the pleasure of meeting many employees of Best Western on check in or at breakfast service. This Best Western has the hands down most remarkable employee. Her name is Angela. Angela was very kind to my wife my disability k-9 and myself. We had several issues that were resolved in minutes. The care and professionalism that she displayed, not only to us but others checking in is the best service we could and have ever received at any hotel chain. Best Western got it right in hiring this women who has years of life behind her. Mi wife and I are in our sixties and Angela was in our age group. I hope if you are reading this and are checking in at this location, that you meet Angela.

Multiple stays at this well-located hotel have been enjoyable. Staff is excellent and rooms are comfortable. Restaurant next door (under new ownership) offers convenient good food and service for both dinner and free breakfast.

Good location, close to Speedway Blvd., average room-but somewhat on the dull side even though recently remodeled; free full breakfast daily just a bit away was a real plus. Woman at motel desk gave very good referrals for restaurants for dinner.

We have stayed at Best Western's across the US, and they have all been very nice and not motels, so we were surprised that this was a motel style. We just didn't look at the photos on this site before booking. The rooms were typical motel layout, and nice and clean, despite the age. The bathroom had a horror movie window in the shower (like big enough for someone to climb thru), and while taking a shower the next morning, we realized it was unlocked the whole night! We were on the first floor, and the lot next to our room was vacant, so left us sketched out. The grounds were nice and clean - great large water feature out front. The breakfast was awesome! Rather than the grab and go other best westerns have been doing, you get a full breakfast at the restaurant across the street. And it was super delicious!

Over priced, hidden fees not shared with Expedia. Filthy rooms. First night was a disaster water damage created a problem with our king suite. Was called but no message left, we showed up early at 1p was not told at desk that our room had a problem but that they were behind on cleaning and some rooms were damaged. Was called an hour later that it was our room that was damaged asked to take a standard king. Called back later that a mini suite opened up. Then when we arrived back at the hotel at 330p they needed another hour to clean mini suite and asked if we would take a double queen standard room. Then offered to knock my price down to 112 a night (I booked the king suite through expedia for 118 the first night 113 the following 5 totaling $795) so then told "they could drop my rate to 108." The room was filthy...took a shower walked across carpets and bottoms of feet were black; toilet seat had blood or lipstick on the side. Next day got our suite, a bit cleaner but same problem with carpets (Need to give a shout out for Mary she went over and above to help...the only good aspect of this trip). Then when we checked out we were only charged 108 a night but all the taxes and fees totalled $774...I am no mathematician but 10+(5×7)= 45 not 21. Very poor hotel. And cleanliness standards extremely poor for normal circumstances, let alone in a pandemic!

Decent hotel for a short term stay, especially if youre not expecting to stay in your room all day. Lots of bathroom utilities provided by the hotel and a mini fridge under the TV. Wifi speed and strength is as average for a hotel. pool and hot tub available and at the moment of my travel they were providing breakfast for guests to grab. There is also a karaoke bar near the hotel. I didnt get a chance to go inside or look into if it was pretty active. I noticed it on my leave to the airport.

Very clean, excellent service, and super comfortable bed! Good location too. I would highly recommend this property. Checkin and checkout was safe and seamless. As a chain BW is consistently good. The staff makes your safety a priority.

This is a motel, not hotel. Shady people in parking lot and empty lot next door. Sheets had a dark stain near where you face goes. Bathroom very cramped but shower worked well. Check in and out was fast and easy.

Have stayed many times in the past. Never had any issues. The property has always been safe, but the neighborhood is a little questionable. Close to everything, but that is the case with any place in Tucson. One can easily make it to anywhere in Tucson in 30 minutes by car. You do need a car, not an area I would walk around. Best Western - Royal Sun Inn appears to maintain good covid-19 protocol. No complaints. Nice pool. Bed was a little soft for me, but would have been fine if i did not have back injury Very nice bar, connected to the property. includes a small café - only serves sandwiches, salads and appetizers. The menu is not the usual sandwich shop, but very creative and huge servings, but you can get a traditional hamburger, or have it dressed creatively. Their dessert selection, in it's self, is worth a visit. It is named Bumsted's (? sp) . They also have entertainment after 8:00. At the bar they maintain an excellent and strict covid-19 protocol.

Nice Property. Restaurant used to be associated with the hotel, but now it is a separate entity. They no longer offer the free made to order breakfast or the 2 free drinks. The bar now has karaoke and various special activities occasionally. Bumsted's is the name now(? spelling) they have a very large sandwich menu that's not your run of the mill sandwiches and huge amounts of food & excellent desserts. When covid is over this will be a very fun addition to the hotel experience.

The woman that checked us in was very kind and helpful during our stay. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable! They had a breakfast bag of fruit, fruit juice, a muffin and a granola bar. It is the standard for Covid times.

We were in Tucson for a family funeral. Looking for a clean place to lay our head at night. I tend to lean on other reviews when looking at places. The reviews here were very good. The beds were very comfortable and the price fit our budget. We would stay there again if ever back in the area.

quiet room great stay. i wish i had booked my whole trip there. The private owned restaurant seemed expensive until you get your large portions of food. great tasting nice look to bar. food was filling and tasting great. maybe slightly under staffed for the time of day. i would recommend the hotel and restaurant to anyone passing thru area

good bang for the buck! Many of the breakfast areas have been closed and so it will be far more convenient once the covid scare is at an end and they reopen! The service is generally very good at all Best Westerns!

Location wasn't quite as convenient as I hoped but driving to downtown was fast and easy just not walkable at night. Amenities were perfect! Pool was heated and hot tub was lovely! Breakfast and room solid! Bar and restaurant on site was absolutely amazing! Fun and great drinks. Food looked and smelling awesome too! Best bed ever! We both remarked how good the sleep was.

Staying here was pleasant. They have a bar with karaoke every night. And dinning onsite you dont have to leave once your there. Entertainment and food all in walking distance. Staff is friendly. The room was clean and very suitable for our stay.

We enjoyed our stay in Tucson. This hotel was convenient to everything including the Saguaro National Park, restaurants, and shopping. The room was clean and front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was disappointing as it has been during the pandemic with go bags that are lacking. We did stay at a competitor hotel on our way home and they were serving a hot breakfast in a very safe manner....basically you told a staff member what you wanted from the buffet and they served it to you like in a restaurant. I am hopeful that BW can adopt this type of breakfast service soon.

Do not stay here if you want a good nights sleep. The noise from the road and train whistles as well as the paper thin walls will keep you awake all night long. They give you 2 sets of earplugs with your soaps and lotions so they know it's a problem. I am a diamond member and this is the worst hotel in the Best Western chain I have stayed at.

Extremely loud train noises with horn blowing all night long & into the morning. Leaf blowers running at 7am. No sleep. Changed room three times due to door lock not working then thermostat. Peanuts & trash under sofa bed. Making me wonder when/if sheets ever changed if it's not lifted to sweep under.

Looked nice in pictures. When got there everything was just sub par. Toilet wobbled. Front door had cement flaking off and didn't shut good. The tv plug was dangling in mid air and it came unplugged. Tub looked so old.

This is a great no-frills hotel that is extra clean and comfortable. The on-site restaurant was good too. Front desk was very friendly and the restaurant staff was too. Great stop if you are on a road trip.

Front desk staff was great, but went quickly downhill from there... to numerous unidentifiable stains all over the floor and sitting surfaces, several different types of hairs all over the place, and for the finale... the jacuzzi tub turned into a DNA bath when I turned it on. FREAKING DISGUSTING!!! Will never stay here again or recommend them to anyone. Do something about your housekeeping!!

I stayed at the Tucson Best Western on Stone Avenue because it was nearest where I needed to be. Although it's not the best part of town, you couldn't notice at the hotel. My room was super clean and smelled like fresh linen. The amenities were more than adequate and I slept like a baby. I always stay at Best Westerns throughout Arizona, and this was one of the cleanest, best-smelling rooms I've had.

The motel was not crowded due to Covid 19, so I don't know why we were placed in one of only two rooms that was tucked in a hallway behind another building, where it never got any sunlight. Also not much ventilation. The room looked clean, but reeked of mold.

Room wreaked of cigarette smoke. Motel was sold out so no other room available unless I spent another $65. Asked the desk to get someone to deodorize it while I was out for dinner but they didn't. Cocaine straw sitting on one of the chairs, old pickle next to fridge, sticky fridge door. Piece of toilet paper between night stand and bed. TV too small and far away from bed to see easily. A strange guy came pounding on the door the next morning looking for some woman. Bed and bath were clean. Bed was comfy. Bar food was GREAT.

This property consists of several disconnected buildings adjacent to one another and laid out in sort of an "L" shape. My room was in the building connected to the lobby on the ground floor. There was a nicely groomed patio/terrace outside this building. The pool was one building down. Nothing fancy. The free breakfast consisted of menu options to choose from in an adjacent restaurant. You could also order additional food off the menu. The food and service were good. My room was big and clean and freshly renovated. It was not near the train tracks. So I did not hear trains, as other reviewers mentioned. They were redoing the lobby when I was there. So check-in and check-out were a bit awkward, but they made good with a tough situation. The hotel is not far from major attractions, though not walkable to those attractions. Overall, I was pleased with this hotel and would stay here again.

The room was a good size and clean. The train seemed to start running during the evening hours. My family and I could not sleep. The front desk failed to tell us about this minor detail. They put a pair of earplugs in the restroom. They should place them on the nightstand for easy access.

We spent the night using BW rewards points. When checking out, I was told the printer was out of ink so I couldn't get a receipt. The woman that checked us out said we would receive an email receipt. The emailed receipt shows a $30 charge. No idea what that is but I'll be calling to have the charge removed. In looking at other reviews, it seems others have had similar problems. Seems a foolish practice to pull on customers that have been loyal to Best Western. The room itself was ok - nothing special. The stairways and outside areas need a good power washing.

We enjoyed the location as it was easy to get to many of the tourist sights we wanted to check out. Breakfast was good with options that were good for those people that follow a Keto diet. The only issue that some people may have is that you can hear trains every so often, but it was not an issue for us and the hotel provided earplug in the room.

I booked this hotel since it is located close to U of A and I was visiting my daughter. Our room was on the second floor in the rear building near the pool. The room was clean and comfortable. Beds and pillow were great! I slept well. We had no problems with noise or train noise. I guess it doesn't bother me plus if it does bother you, there are earplugs in the room. If you have the window in your bathroom, you might want to close the bathroom door before bed. The light comes through in the morning. All the staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful. The bar next door was nice. I had the delicious empanadas and a local beer. 2 for 1 with the coupon from hotel. Bartender was nice. Karaoke looked fun but I couldn't stay long. The breakfast is typical of a hotel bf. It was good and had enough of a variety. Check in and check out were a breeze. Absolutely will stay here again.

Hotel was okay. Nice pool and fitness center. Hotel staff not helpful. I was unable to get the bill split and no receipt was provided at checkout. When I called several days later to get the receipt emailed, the hotel representative told me they couldn't do that and I would have to call back tomorrow for the GM. I shouldn't have to ask repeatedly for the receipt and I certainly shouldn't have to call back. At the very least the representative should have taken a message. I don't recommend this hotel.

This was a great value for a room. A joining shut-gun style room where we could have separation from the kids at night. Always a plus! The room was clean. It could be more updated and brighter. The staff were super friendly and nice. We enjoyed breakfast every morning. Thank you for cleaning up after our kids each day!!! The pool is very heated, like a bath tub -- again, our kids loved that. The downside was that I felt the hotel was not in the best area or neighborhood. Also it was not within walking distance of downtown or any type of grocery store or convenience store. Most likely you'll have a car, so this is fine. But sometimes we wanted to walk around or walk to downtown or the presidio area that was just a bit too far for walking.

Though neighborhood is slightly shaky, once you enter this oasis of fun and amenities you breathe breezes of paradise. Rooms and layout is pleasing with wonderful warm poo & hot-tubl. Big exercise room. Breakfast is a highlight with great food, wide selection, and above average service in a pleasantly updated dining room. The bar/restaurant serves excellent food and drink. A bonus is the high quality live music here too. They give coupons for the breakfast and bar too which makes the whole package a great value. Friendly hepful staff is the frosting on the cake. Don't pass this place up!

Beautiful property. As gold level best western members we were upgraded to a suite which was great. Room was clean, staff friendly and helpful.Breakfast buffet at restaurant next door was very good with wonderful staff.

A fine overall experience. Our room was comfy and quiet. Hotel staff was acoomodating. Happy that check-in was available at 2:30am, as our train was late in arriving in Tucson. Location is quite convenient to the very cool 4th Avenue district and to downtown. Complimentary breakfast was quite decent, and would've been even better if the menu had potatoes and skim milk. We stayed during the very popular Gem Show week, so price was a bit higher than we would've liked due to supply and demand. Public access computer in the hotel lobby came in handy when my cell phone died! Light sleepers might be disturbed by the sound of freight train whistles during the night and early morning hours, but our white noise phone app muffled the sound sufficiently.

Location: The hotel is in relatively close proximity to downtown, the interstate, and the University of Arizona. However, it is also located in a rather sketchy neighborhood, although there does seem to be signs of revitalization. One night I was woken up by a police helicopter circling overhead (not a good sign). One afternoon there was what looked to be a homeless young man eating at a patio table in the hotel courtyard, and he got up and left quickly when he saw me (leaving his mess on the table). Sound: The hotel is located near a very active freight train corridor. They provide ear plugs for guests – use them. Breakfast: So many reviews referenced a free made-to-order breakfast – and that was a big reason why I chose to stay at this property – but sadly that was not what I experienced. Instead, there was a very basic breakfast buffet. The women working the breakfast area were very friendly. Perhaps the hotel changed their model for how they provide breakfast. Check-In Experience: It was smooth. Room: Adequate. The lighting was not so good, but the space was clean. Property Layout: All of the rooms open to the exterior, motel-style. There seems to be plenty of parking. Because of the layout, you'll hear people in the parking lot if they are making a lot of noise. Environment: I appreciated the environmentally-friendly choices in the room. However, these practices should also be reflected in the breakfast area. I don't like using all that plastic. Overall: It's a relatively inexpensive choice, but personally I don't think I'll return.

I have stayed at many Best Western Hotels across the country. Some of them were excellent and some were very poor (Blythe, CA). My experience at the Best Western Royal Sun Inn & Suites in Tucson, AZ was an overall average one. The room was average to slightly below average. However, the hotel staff were very friendly and well above average.

Seedy neighborhood, loud, busy. Easy access to the Gem shows and down town. No shuttle service was offered. Also very close to Old art district, famous El Charro restaurant, 4th Avenue shops, and UA university

Our room, regular, was quite large, clean, and well kept. The desk staff could not accurately answer questions about the room though. Since it was on the end, noise could have been an issue. It wasn't really. Parking was plentiful. Breakfast was mediocre, but the ladies who managed it were wonderful. We'd stay there again.

I feel awful for writing this, because the woman at the reception was really kind, but we had awful issues with cockroaches in room 122. A friend and I were staying at the Best Western for Tucson Gem Show, and the first night a massive (2-3") roach crawled out of the vent near the ceiling. We had to call the front desk and have them remove it. We went that night and bought roach spray, which the receptionist kindly reimbursed us for, and she promised they'd spray early the next morning, too. They called the next day and explained that "a repairman was coming for our TV and microwave," and confused, I explained that we didn't have a microwave and our TV was fine, that the issue was roaches, they said, "Yes..... that," as though they wanted to hide the fact from clients at the front desk. Not sure if they did spray or if it did anything at all, because that night when we got back and opened the lights, a ton of tiny cockroaches scurried out from INSIDE the base of the lamp. We met with the receptionist and she immediately gave us a refund and we booked the rest of the trip with another hotel. She was really sweet but I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you want to take some critters home with you...

My husband and I stayed for 10 days and we were treated with the up most respect and kindness. My husband under went surgery so our stay was not for pleasure but the staff was so understanding and tried to make us as comfortable as possible!!

Booked this motel not knowing anything about Tucson neighborhoods. Needless to say my wife and I were a bit concerned about the neighborhood when we were in route within a mile of the motel. Seedy area is the best description we could think of. Especially since motel is across the street from a park that had tents set up. Wife was awakened about 3am to what sounded like a gunshot. Motel does furnish ear plugs which I used so I didn't hear anything at 3am. Motel is old but they've done upgrading in least the room we were in. But it still had an "old" vibe. Toilet set fasteners were loose and the seat moved around when you sat on it. The toilet tank flush handle chain came off and I had to pull the tank lid and refasten. Ewww. We were upgraded to a suite at check in and our room had a jacuzzi tub/shower. But there's no way we were going to use the jacuzzi! Ewwww! Got up in the am and heard what sounded like water dripping in the shower tub. There was a leak above our bathroom shower from the floor above and droops of water were coming out of the ceiling. Old uncomfortable furniture, one refer worked, one wasn't working or not on. TVs in both rooms were small but were mounted on a black backboard to make them look bigger. A bar was located on the property with a limited menu and we were given drink coupons by motel which were buy one get one free for booze only, not soft drinks. Limited menu but burgers were OK. Bar had a two person band and introduced themselves as singing various types of music including songs of "murder". We left after they started their first song. Breakfast was about a 2.5 out of 5. As a Platinum Best Western member this is not a place we'd stay again or recommend. For nearly $100 plus tax we expected better. Very disappointed. Glad it was for only one night.

We knew we were in trouble when we walked in the bathroom and they had complimentary earplugs. Noisy room, public bathrooms were beyond disgraceful, overall not a pleasant atmosphere. The food at the bar was directly from a freezer bag and less than satisfactory.

This hotel appears to be old, but it is very clean and nice! Obviously newly remodeled, comfortable beds and clean bathroom!!! Most important thing in my opinion. Nice breakfast facility and very helpful staff.

When I arrived late at night, my room had not been cleaned. I didn't eventually get into the room until 1:30 a.m. and was so tired, I missed half the event that was the purpose for my travel. I couldn't sleep because the room was so dirty (stains in the toilet, bugs on the linen, dust on the mirrors).

Room was clean, pool was nice and heated, hot tub was clean. Resturaunt had great food and the beer at the bar was cold. The staff was amazing. The location is close to shopping, food and entertainment. Can't wait to go back.

This is a completely updated motel. Room decor was very pleasant. Nice people who really work as a team, helping each other with the full motel. Nicest benefit was the breakfast. Not a mediocre, cold scrambled eggs, breakfast, but a sit-down meal with good choices of eggs, waffles.

We were worried about this hotel when we pulled up, but the room was clean and comfortable. If you are not looking for luxury, this is a place that will work. There is a nice bar and restaurant on the property. When we were there both the waitress and the desk clerk appeared extremely stress because of a shortage of staff. They did, however get the job done in the end.

Good location near downtown and the university but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the inner city (where lots of construction is going on). There is a park across the street where many homeless stay, can be off putting for some. Rooms are standard, could use some updating with old carpeting, our room had water stains on the ceiling and the mattresses were a bit harder than I had hoped for. But it was very quiet and we were able to get a good night's rest. Service at the front desk was exceptional and the gym was small, but very well equipped. Parking is plenty and free. Breakfast was delicious and made to order which was fantastic.

A nice hotel with a deep swimming pool and large hot tub. The exercise room as weights and three different machines. Ice and soda is plentiful and well placed. The free breakfast was like going to any good breakfast restaurant. A large selection of entrees to choose from, all cooked to order. Plenty of options to add at a small charge makes it possible to solve anyone's expectations.

The hotel staff is always very nice and helpful. It conveniently located. Minutes to downtown or malls for shopping. There is a lounge on sight, which makes it great to have a couple of drinks when you return. Lounge area is very inviting and relaxing.

We stayed here for 2 nights just after Thanksgiving. Our room was clean and the beds were comfy. Wifi was excellent. They have a hot breakfast which is served in a restaurant. Rather than having a buffet you're given a menu and you can choose from your standard breakfast combo things, or if you want to pay part of the menu has upgraded items. The complimentary choices were good so we stuck with that. The location isn't the best although it was close to major roads so we easily got around. There are quite a few homeless people around the hotel and in the park across the street. They were harmless but if that's something that bothers you this may not be the hotel for you.

We always stay at the Best Western Royal Sun when visiting our family in Tucson. The service is outstanding. The rooms are a little dated, but they are clean and comfortable. The fact they have a restaurant on property is a plus as well.

We only stayed in the room for about 8 hours but it served our purpose. The room was clean and neat, the staff was wonderful. I would stay again if I was in the area. We used our BOGO drink coupons at the bar, they offered a good variety. Unfortunately we left too early to enjoy breakfast

It served the purpose for what I needed. I was only looking for a 1 night stay closer to where I was going to, so it worked. I figured staying at over of the resorts but was a bit of a longer drive, but next time I'll probably go there as I feel the price difference is worth it. Additionally, there's a train that you can hear from the room. It did not bother us as we are heavy sleepers, and to be fair I don't know how early/late it runs, but couldn't not mention it.

The old woman at the check-in could not have been less welcoming. She wanted to be done with me as soon as she possibly could. I felt that it was a chore for her to answer any question I had so I kept it to one: are there any restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. I was not interested in going to Taco Tuesday at the BW restaurant next door. She sent me down University on foot. There is nothing on University for at least a mile from the hotel. There are many dining options near the University on University but not within walking distance. They did upgrade me to a junior suite which I did not ask for and I'm not sure why I was upgraded but thanks. I was there only for one night. I did not like the location. The neighborhood did not have anything to offer except a park with homeless people and a busy highway. Regarding the breakfast, it is "made to order" which is code for you order as if you are in a restaurant. There is no buffet. You get one entree and one beverage and you are expected to tip. You need to choose between coffee or orange juice. Coffee gets free refills. If you prefer a continental breakfast buffet, this is not for you.

I have stayed 44 time this year at BW Hotels in the East and the West. They are very accommodating and I have never had a problem in over 5 years I have been staying there. My favorite Best Western is the Royal Sun Inn and Suites. Why? The heated pool (in Winter) the Spa, the rooms, the internet, the food and the staff are wonderful and kind.

Rooms were semi updated but the carpets were old. Central location to Tuscon attractions on the edge of the university area. The toilet area was small but had a nice walk in shower. There was a sliding window to the back alley that we blocked with a wooden hanger to make it more secure. Our room had an adjoining room/door so we could hear the man next door coughing. When the fan in the room was not running you could hear the trains and movement in other rooms. No elevators. Second story was stair access only and this is a motel style. Pool was large and clean. It loses the sun early so get out and enjoy earlier in the day. Exercise room was okay but no TVs and equipment old. Breakfast was included and was a voucher for the attached restaurant. A nice variety of options and was a nice change from the repetitive standard buffet breakfasts seen at other hotels. Homemade cookies in the afternoons were a nice touch and enjoyed.

Great Location, Reasonably Priced, Made to Order Free Breakfast, Friendly and Helpful Staff. Whats not to Like?S Clean Rooms, Everything Works. small Refrigerator and Microwave Oven. As a Women Traveling by myself for Business I feel very Safe here!

The hotel was nice and clean, the room was very large and updated with newer good mattress, good sound insulation and darkening curtains , great water pressure in the shower. Staff was nice and friendly. Great breakfast.

When we arrived the room was ready. It was very clean and it did not smell. It is an older building but DON'T count that against it. Quite the contrary. It is built like a tank with real walls so you don't hear your neighbors and the grounds were nicely groomed as was the building itself. You have a choice 10 ten complementary breakfasts to pick from including a drink. Not just some sweet goods coughed on by others The staff was very friendly, professional and accommodating. I have had worse times at hotels that cost 150% more than BW. I can't speak of other BW but I was 100% pleased with the service, staff, and value at this one.

Although many people shy away from properties that have rooms that open to the outside, The Best Western Royal in Tucson, AZ breaks that mold. This property is charming, safe and delightful. My room was super clean and the bed was firm and comfortable. There is a pool, large hot-tub and minimal but useful gym on the property. I took advantage of the complimentary breakfast every day and it was great. Also, the owners have taken great pains to do some lovely landscaping and keep the property clean and charming.

We had a room opposite the pool and had a great 4 night stay. The room was clean and spacious and a good sized shower. The complimentary breakfast was good if not overly generous. The hotel bar was comfortable if expensive although the 2 for 1 drinks voucher took a bit of the pain away. 4th Avenue is easily walkable and the area is nice.

I was very satisfied with this hotel. When I checked in, I kind of wondered about the girl at the desk. She was very monotone and seemed disinterested. We went to our room then, and it was beautiful. The landscaping around the property was very pretty also. The made to order breakfast was really good and the cook, Jeff, was a terrific guy. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This motel is conveniently located off of I-10. Though the building was built many years ago, it is well maintained and up-to-date. Our room was roomy, the bed comfortable, and room clean. I great bonus is a central ac system which makes air conditioning very, very quiet. The breakfast is also very good with a restaurant setting with a reasonable selection of free entrees and one beverage. This is a really good motel.

excellent location in Tucson, close to downtown without the high downtown rates. close to freeway access, without all the freeway noise. close to university without all the university traffic. clean and comfortable.

We travel to and from California at least once a year. The Royal Sun is always our first choice to stay in Tucson. While not right off the interstate, it is close. The restaurant is at the site and is good. The staff is great. We will continue to return.

This motel is clean and a good location for being close to U of A. They do provide ear plugs, which I found odd until I heard the train whistle. I don't know the schedule, but I didn't hear it during the night, just on a regular basis starting fairly early in the morning. The motel is quiet otherwise. They do provide drink coupons and breakfast coupons, but we didn't use either.

Great Inn, the room was clean and the staff was friendly and courteous. The inn has a pool, a restaurant, and a lounge that had live entertainment the night I stayed. My stay also included a complimentary breakfast and bogo drinks at the lounge.

Stayed here with 2 other couples on our way through Tucson to Mt.Lemon. The staff at check in, did a great job finding us rooms so that we would be close. We were each given 2 for 1 beverage coupons which we we used to relax & visit in the lounge on site. We also were given breakfast coupons for a made-to-order breakfast which was delicious. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Tucson,good location.

I booked the room for one night. I checked-in really late. The rep at the time was nice and courteous. It took the clerk a while to register me due to the system being slow. Overall, my stay was good.

Good place to stay in Tucson if you are going to attend an event at the University of Arizona. An easy walk to the campus (1.5 miles). The bus stop is right outside the hotel and I used the bus system to travel around the city. The hotel was wonderful; quiet with comfortable beds.

This older motel has been remodeled and is very clean. The pool is handy, next to a small, but well stocked fitness center. They provide a free cooked to order breakfast and discounted drink tickets for their lounge. We had a problem with our shower draining the first day and we told the manager. He immediately had the problem fixed. Great service! I heartily recommend this place for their value, cleanliness and quality service.

Great stay in Tucson. Appreciated having two chairs outside the room to look at the evening sunset with partitions from room to room outside for privacy. The breakfast was excellent and the servers at the restaurant were friendly and gracious and willing to serve well even at 6:00 a.m.! It was an overall excellent service and I would highly recommend one stay there when in Tucson, Arizona.

Really nice budget place. Clean, quiet, good beds, good breakfast. You'd need a car or a 15 minute walk to get to interesting parts of town but Uber works well in Tucson. Pool is nice. Didn't use gym.

We live in Vail, and enjoyed our quick overnight stay. Breakfast cooked to order in a real restaurant was fun and different, the bar and free drinks was fun, too. The bed was super comfy. Only complaints is the bathroom light is on a sensor and was blinding in the middle of the night, and the air conditioner was loud. But overall, a nice place with a great location -- we walked to the Fox Theater for a show, and to 4th Ave for dinner and coffee the next morning.

Very good attention to details: powerful but very quiet A/C, top TV sets and ample programming (about 10 premium movie channels), lots of lamps, lights and electrical outlets, very fast and hassle-free WiFi, easy parking. It worked very well for our Saguaro NP West and East visits. Other Tucson attractions are close by. The hotel was built sometime ago but its convenience and style has been well kept. We booked three nights but extended it to five.

Very clean and cool air conditioning. The pool was pretty chlorine heavy. The free breakfast was prepared by the kitchen which was nice for a sit down meal. Would recommend this hotel for sure. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Thanks.

We overnighted at this property on the hottest day of the year, in Tucson. Our car thermometer showed a high of 119. Ouch! When we checked into our room, it was nice and cool. You would never know it was so hot outside! We hurried out to the swim-pool to cool off; the concrete pavers were so hot we had to wear sandals. Half the pool was in sun, the other half shade. What a blessing to go for a swim on such a day! Supper found us in the bar, where drinks, pub food, and an Indie band were available. There were also two tables of Texas Hold 'Em going on. The card-players were not noisy, so that was ok. The Hotel provided 2-for-one coupons for beer, wine, or House Margaritas. Nice on a hot day! The food was ordinary, but lots of it. The band was great; Natty @ The Sunset. Our room was quiet, cool, and big enough for three adults. A refrigerator, big TV, liquid soaps dispenser in shower all added to our comfort. The Hotel also provides a Cooked to Order Breakfast coupon to each Room Guest. Nice choices, good service. This is our second stay at this Property, and it was very pleasant. I would heartily recommend it, especially if one needs to be near the University or Banner Hospital.

We stayed at the Royal Sun for 2 nights while bringing our daughter to U of A. The hotel is close to campus, staff are friendly, check in was fast and smooth, room was clean and beds were comfortable. Complimentary sit-down restaurant breakfast was delicious.

When visiting Tucson and the UofA, we've come to stay at the Royal Sun over and over. It's oasis like courtyard and made to order breakfasts solidify our desire to stay at this spacious and clean hotel. The staff always makes us feel welcome!

Our check-in experience was the worst we have ever had, and we are on an extended road trip and frequently stay in Best Westerns. Angela checked us in and was rude in a myriad of ways. I was shocked to find there were reviews praising her by name because she alone made us think we would never return to the hotel. Next, the website says they have an exercise facility, and says it opens at 7:00 a.m. At 7:30 a.m. the facility was still locked; the front desk first said they would unlock it so we went and put on our workout clothes. But the facility was still locked. So another trip to the front office where we were then informed that the person with the key wouldn't arrive until 8:00, and that maybe the website should be changed. This was a miss by the hotel because we were not just passing through - we were looking for a hotel to be our regular home base since our son just moved to Tucson. We will look elsewhere for our next trip.

King rooms always spacious, clean and comfortable. Very nice to have restaurant on-site and cooked to order breakfast as opposed to trying to find a place elsewhere and experiencing a long wait. Extremely convenient for U of A visits.

We spent 8/2 and 8/3 here during a trip to visit our Granddaughter and as in all our previous visits it was excellent. Don Harrison checked us in promptly and professionally. We were happy to have a room on the ground floor and it was in fantastic condition with beautiful furnishings and was spotless. The grounds are beautiful and in excellent condition. The free cook to order breakfast is always great also. Barbie was our server both mornings and she's fantastic. We'll definitely return here on our next visit.

Traveling from Texas. Our stay was great! 1 night to rest before heading to our destination in California. We checked in on a Saturday. Easy and quick check in. Nice and quite afternoon. Room was spacious. Comfortable stay. Room was clean. We received coupons for drinks which we did use that evening. Next morning we had breakfastwas and it was excellent. Service was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel but tried to use Best Western rewards cards....nightmare. Twenty minutes to checkout. After numerous calls I think it is finally straightened out. There is something wrong when the rewards program is the problem.

The staff was most helpful when I explained we needed a first floor room. I should have had something on the phone but forget. They were very accommodating. The room was clean and quiet. This wasn't exactly a pleasure trip, my son had to go two doctors appointments on Monday.

Staff was very friendly, the hotel room was extremely clean and fresh. I was by the pool but I did not notice as it was so quiet. The restraint staff was accommodating and the food was fresh and delicious.

I first searched online for hotels/motels close to Old Tuscon and the Desert Museum. This is a motel where your door is on the outside. It's not the fanciest place that I have stayed but the staff and room were good. Our room was very nice and clean. We parked by our room. This makes it easy to unload luggage. Check in was easy especially since I am a rewards member. You will receive your free breakfast cards and a drink card for the bar. I do not drink but you can get a soft drink. There is a magnifying mirror and hair dryer mounted on the wall for easy access. Bath products are made in USA. Large towels. Soft beds. Good breakfast. Everyone we met here was eager to please, both at the office and at the restaurant. Great service. Cool air. Check out was easy too. Nice place and easy to get to attractions. Great place for the price. More money to spend on attractions. I would stay again.

Check in amd check out were great. Staff very friendly. Although our room had a moderate damp odor to it. We don't travel much 2 time since 2003 of of 29 yr marriage. Traveled/ drove MN to AZ to see friends

Wonderful staff all around. Awesome breakfast too. Beautiful surroundings, it's like an oasis upon entering the hotel grounds. Folks were friendly, always greeting and acknowledging you as you entered either at the restaurant or reception area. After my stay was extended from a week to 24 days, I felt like I was a part of the family. They were happy my house hunting search had come to an end. I highly recommend this hotel. They go above and beyond.

The hotel was in very good condition. The pool was great for a hot day. Check in was easy and the room was clean and comfortable. The options for breakfast were good it was at the cafe on site. There is a large workout room.

Great Hotel! Only complaint I had was we were on the the second floor and we had to pack our gear up the stairs, but we were out having fun and got in late, so cant expect to get the ground when yer in late. Breakfast is great!,, at the restaurant in the front of the Hotel, but be warned. It takes a little while to get in and out, not a big deal, but if your like us and have a big day planned, ya wanna get up and at em. We got a huge room with more than enough space and a jetted tub. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time in Tucson.

The hotel is really well run and this is shown in all aspects, be it the room or the garden and pool, and above all. the hotel staff. Breakfast was freshly made in their restaurant which had a counter like an old fashioned American Diner. Would really recommend this hotel. Excellent value for money. Wifi worked well and car parking safe inside the compound.

It was a stay over stop on our way to Carlsbad caverns in New Mexico. It was clean. Room nice looking and beds were comfortable . Check - was bfast and desk clear was professional and friendly .We would stay there again.

The beds measure 78 inches long by 58 inches wide. A standard queen-sized bed is 80 inches long and 60 inches wide. I'm six foot six, and had to sleep diagonally with my wife in the other bed. Thankfully the breakfast is made-to-order and was very good. The grounds are also well cared for.

This place is one of the best 2 star hotels we have stayed in. For under $100 we had a freshly painted king bed room, decent sized pool and a full breakfast made to order. The staff were friendly and helpful, as well. I would stay here again.

Checking in was fast. Rooms were clean and updated. Wifi password was found in card key, sign-in was easy and Wifi worked fast. Towels were replenished every day. Bed was tended every day cups I used were replaced every day as well, lots of attention to detail.

Positives: beautiful landscaping, great price, comfortable and clean room, kind and helpful staff. Includes complementary breakfast cooked to order. Restaurant/lounge attached Negatives: the first room we were assigned smelled horrible.(staff changed rooms for us without hesitation), trains go by all night, walls are paper thin and we could hear every person coming and going. Extremely limited menu and only the lounge portion was open around dinner so we would have had to eat there instead of the restaurant. Odd: instead of shampoo and conditioner we were gifted earplugs (should have been my first warning) Leather throw pillow? Anyone say 70's flashback! Overall, it was an alright place to stay. Didn't get a very good night's rest with all the noise, even with earplugs, which is the point of a hotel. Usually, we turn on the room's fan to create ambient noise but it was whisper quiet. (Some may see this as a plus). While there are a lot of restaurants and fast food places nearby, the neighborhood isn't inviting, we found three closed by 7pm and parking is difficult.

Good bargain hotel. It is vintage for sure but the rooms are very clean and well kept. The sit down breakfast is a good value, and you are given 2 for 1 tickets for drinks in the lounge. The pool is very clean and a slight issue with the room thermostat was fixed immediately. Near the university and walking distance to the old city center.

Great room. Very accommodating staff. Older property meticulously maintained. Small plumbing problem; maintenance appeared in a flash. Breakfast at adjacent restaurant offered ample choices, good quality.

As a long time Harley / Best Western member I always try and stay at BW properties when available. Some of the properties are in the older part of town which this one is almost right downtown and close to the fun places to visit in Tucson. I prefer the older places with a lot of character and this one is great. Love the place wit hall the great service and accommodations. Richard one of the maintenance men went above and beyond to help us enjoy our day hanging out around the beautiful pool.

I had never stayed at a Best Western, thinking it was not so nice. This one surprised me. The check in/out was a breeze. The staff treated us like they were our own personal concierge service. The room has renovated, clean and really comfortable. Bar/lounge was really fun and I guess this is a cool hip part of town, because it had quite a crowd. Breakfast was delicious. Parking was key for us because we had a boat...easy peasy. The entrance was a little low for some boats, but they even had a separate entrance so bigger vehicles could get through

We have stayed here several times. This is an older inn that has been remodeled. Rooms clean. Front desk staff have always been helpful and accommodating. Rate includes breakfast at the attached restaurant. Breakfast has always been excellent and wait staff are friendly and attentive.

Pros (1) close to university of AZ campus and downtown (2) good stable WiFi (3) free large parking (4) spacious king rooms Cons (1) sit in breakfast (complimentary) with server - long waits over 40-45 min to get your order, no way to customize your order - you need to pick from a predefined menu and they offer NO substitutes. So let's say if you wanted plate of fruit and toasted English muffins you can't have them as they are not part of their menu. Wait times are ridiculously long for busy mornings! (2) noise! Too much noise breeding through paper thin neighbor walls and from the patio and on the top of that the freight TRAIN which runs all night long every 30 min! (3) outdoor corridors, dark and VERY gloomy rooms, paper thin walls won't block off any noise (4) outdated 70s building suitable for a cheap motel or inn (rooms have been touched up but they still looked like a cheap motel) (5) room access cards would stop working every time when you want to get into your room. So annoying to run to front desk every time (6) NO microwave in the room! Even cheap motels offer this convenient feature to guests (7) looks as it they are trying to save out of everything - from breakfast, building remodeling Recommendation - Make the breakfast self-serve as in other Best Western hotels - it saves your guests time and they can have what they enjoy or need to follow their dietary restrictions. - Invest in some insulation - providing ear plugs to block off train noise is not a good option, especially if you have a little one in the room - Provide microwaves in the rooms - it's a convenience that will make people thankful

One night stop in Tucson. Easy access to everything.Smiling staff all over. Got a nice, huge room. All you needed to stay for a while. Nice heated pool. Restaurant close by do not serve dinner, however there are plenty in the neighbourhood. (We walked for 12 minutes and had everything we needed.) You get tickets for breakfast, you might want to add some more if you are really hungry. Bar is cosy, we had live music the night we stayed. You get a lot for the price you pay here.

Best Western chain is definitely hit or miss. When traveling with our dog we often stay at BW. This is one of the best. Clean, great free breakfast at a restaurant not in a lobby. If in Tucson with your dog give it a try

I arrived to check in and the older lady by the name of Angela at front desk was rude and was oviously having a bad day, she has no sense of humor what so ever. She was not friendly and made me feel like it was a bother to be checking in, the young girl was very sweet and made me feel like a customer should feel. I recommend removing her from front desk she has no people skills. Then in evening in following day I called to ask for toilet paper and the girl Ashley told me okay she would get us some, hours passed and I ended up calling again at 830 she said she could not leave the front desk unattended to get me any, it was seriously inconvinent and she was so lost did not have a clue how to work the desk.

We have attended the annual Tucson Street Rod Association's Rodders Days Car shows since the late 80's. Never knew about this hotel. What a very nice surprise. Rooms were clean and updated. Good wi-if signal. Beds were comfortable. Room was quiet. When you check in, you get 2 for 1 drink tickets and tickets for a full breakfast. (You do have to get your daily tickets from the front desk, but that is a toss from the bar and restaurant, so no big deal). Bar menu was great, we ate there both nights. Breakfast was free with your stay for many items but there was a backside to the menu where you could buy things and get $2 off. (I had the breakfast burrito which was not free). Every staff member, including the pool guy was so friendly and welcoming. Checking in and out was a breeze. We even booked for next year before we left! I highly recommend this hotel.

The Best Western Royal Sun Inn & Suites is a good hotel that features nice amenities. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the grounds are well-groomed, providing a peaceful environment. The detached restaurant/bar prepares delicious breakfasts from a menu-driven format and the bar features karaoke and bar-fare eats. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a diverse mix of local folks and hotel clientele. Will stay again!

I found this hotel after those closer to the university were booked up. I did not realize that my room would include a living room in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. It was very clean other than the bathtub that looked a bit dingy, though may just have been a bit old. The faucet was not secured and moved several inches each time I turned water on, but it worked. The layout was great particularly if I had others with me, however, my goal was sleeping and being prepared for meetings. I did not try the hotel restaurant as I was looking for healthier options. There did not seem to be anything else within walking distance. Other guests were friendly during the day, but seemed to not realize they should speak in an inside voice when standing outside of my room at 1am. With earplugs, I slept fine.

The hotel tries - it is a 70's era place that has fresh paint but has gone the extra mile to provide service and amenities. The diner style breakfast is a hit. The room was a bit cavelike, but had space and met our needs. Tucson was a tough place for us to hit a price point and be in a location that was proximate to areas we wanted to be.

Waitress Mary Lou was excellent. Very professional and friendly. The room was clean and neat. The front person, Angela, should be taught on how to greet people with a smile and look in their eyes and not on the computer.

This hotel was very clean inside and out. they have free made to order breakfast. this option is better than most breakfast. rooms were modern, pool was clean and hot tub was nice. they keep up with grounds and makes you feel at home. Everyone was super helpful and nice. Also the Breakfast and service every morning was amazing. Highly recommend and we will choose again if we make it back from Michigan. close to alot of stuff. good vacation hub. with in hour of tombstone, saguro national park, Mount Lemon and sabino canyon.. close to campus and lots of diverse food options. Highly recommended.

Found this property on TripAdvisor and am so glad we booked 4 nights (2 rooms, 1 wi/2 queens and 1 w/king). With a small gym, a pool & sizable hot tub, and chairs just outside every room, we could have hung around at the hotel more and had a nice time. We booked the hotel, though, because of its great location--easy to get to all the sights--and the price. Staff was super friendly and we LOVED the free yummy/large breakfasts, and 2-for-1 nightly drink deals in the bar (we ate in the bar 2 nights and both meals were good, especially the veggie burger!). Best Western Royal Sun definitely enhanced a great first-time trip to Tucson.

A typical American motel with swimming pool and exercise room. About 25 minutes walk from Down Town. Taxi cost 5.5 USD. Very helpful reception staff. Clean room with shower. Good WiFi. Very comfortable firm bed.

This hotel and its staff are amazing! The grounds (including the pool facilities) were pristine, the over all look of the outside of the hotel was well maintained, clean and looked inviting. As I entered our room I was pleasantly surprised to find that the interior was just as well maintained as the exterior. The room was cleaned, stocked and up to date. I really enjoyed our stay here and my only problem was my trip was too short, would have been nice to have more time. One thing is certain I will be back to Tucson (as I have family in Tucson and my daughter will be attending the University of Arizona) and I will be staying here in the future. ALL hotels should model themselves after this one!!

We stayed at this property for one night after we couldn't extend at another. When you pay over $100 per night, there is an expectation that everything works well, is clean, and accommodates every basic need and want. This property does meet that standard, but does it in a way that is unmemorable. Don't get me wrong: most times it is a good thing to not have anything memorable happen during a stay because it usually means everything went well. However, when there's nothing special to remember a place by....well, how would you decide where to book your next stay? Off the soapbox and on to basics: the room we stayed in had hot water, plenty of TV channels, medium comfortable bed with clean sheets, close parking, friendly reception, and good proximity to many things to see and do in Tucson. There's plenty of hotels to choose from in Tucson. With this property as with any, you just have to decide for yourself if you are getting everything you want for the money you pay.

The room was comfortable and clean; and the staff was friendly and helpful. We saw on the website that the restaurant is no longer serving lunch or dinner and we expected the breakfast to be the substandard food now found at most U.S. hotels/motels. To our surprise we were able to choose a free breakfast from a menu and have it made by a real cook. It was a large menu and good, fresh food.

Made reservations at the last minute and arrived very late at night. Easy check-in, great room both us and our dog. The cafeteria breakfast was an especially nice change from the usual motel breakfast options.

The Royal Sun Inn & Suites was a delightful change from the standard hotels in which we've stayed. It felt a world away from it's desert and strip shopping centers that surround it. It's lush landscaping and soothing water features create a pleasant and inviting courtyard and the suite style room assured that everyone had space for our family. The cooked to order breakfast really allowed a terrific start to our busy day after a restful nights sleep!

The best thing about this Hotel was its staff, hard working and friendly. The room was tired and dated and the fridge did not work, we have stayed at lots of Best Westerns and they have been better, also not close to much.

Our trip for this stay was a sad one. Family funeral service. We were greeted warmly and when we needed a later than late check out due to the services being longer than anticipated, we were graciously accommodated. We had a suite which was very clean and roomy. Felt like a hotel boutique. Cozy...

Stayed here for one night visiting Tucson for the first time in eight years. We have stayed in a few Best Westerns over the years and while this one was okay, it's not what we consider a typical Best Western. The room (237) was good sized and clean. Separate seating area, two flat screen TVs. Bathroom had a Jacuzzi tub and the hot water was more than ample. A made to order breakfast at an attached restaurant was free with the price of the room. The first word of caution is the bed. Hard as a rock. Don't expect a comfortable, softer mattress. Was like sleeping on concrete. In the bathroom area they had two sets of earplugs. We at first thought the walls might be paper thin but turns out the train tracks a few blocks from this motel. Heard freight train horns all night. In the seating area, the sofa was very worn out. When I sat on it it almost sunk to the floor and I only weight 170 lbs. The bathroom was another story. Dimly lit. The Jacuzzi tub is tricky to get in and out of if you're trying to take a shower (Take hold of the rail inside) Getting out is tricky too and I banged my knee. It's set very high. Also, the water knobs are tricky as well. Make sure the main knob is not adjusted to a twelve o'clock position while you're in there. You will get scalded. Now for the free breakfast...We went on a Sunday morning. The hotel was sold out and that corning two people called in sick. Took an hour for us to get our breakfast which was itself okay but greasy. My wife could only take a few bites. Our server was more than nice ad I made sure she did get a big tip. She was working 3x too hard. Now for the location. Located just north of downtown Tucson, this BW is surrounded by older hotels which might remind one of the older parts of Las Vegas. It is situated right across the street from a park that the homeless people hang out. There were about eight camped out directly across the street. Again, this BW does not measure up to our typical experiences.

I paid over $700 for four nights (Tues - Fri) which is too much for what I experienced. The hotel has seen better days, and is not in a good neighborhood. The first night I was there, I saw some decidedly sketchy people in the parking lot, so I went to the front desk to ask about safety, and was assured they have no problems on the property and told they have a security guard (who I never once saw). In the mornings, you see a homeless encampment with about 20 to 30 people. Pretty sad. I'd mistakenly thought that being fairly close to the university would equal a better quality experience. Not so. The rooms are dreary. Overhead lights are on a timer (motion detector?) so if you are sitting at the table reading, turn on the side light so you're not left in the dark. When I booked, amenities included a dining room on premises, which shut down before my arrival, (it is opened for breakfast). They also advertised an on premises “Cantina”, but that turned out to be more of a dive bar, with super bad wine. (Smile). Absolutely, positively, I would not recommend this hotel, but here is the contradiction: The staff that worked at this hotel, and in the breakfast bar, were wonderful. That goes for the wait staff, front desk people, housekeeping, and the happy gardener who sang as he worked. It's just that if you can afford to spend $700 for four nights there are much better options. Another word of caution, I thought I was spending $122 a night. That was in the large type when I booked. I only paid that for the first night. Nights two and three went up to about $160. The final night went up even more. such a strange way to do business, because I felt I was ripped off. You take that along with the neighborhood, and you do not have good value for your money. And overall, I don't think you have a great experience.

The management of this hotel is excellent. Every time I made a request, it was answered with action. The rooms were clean, well appointed for this class, and quiet. Breakfast was excellent - a large number of dishes available for free and very good. You cannot go wrong here. I'll come back.

Room was nice, clean. Had a mini-frig, but no microwave. No safe. Tub-sized shower stall, which was great, and the room we were in (108) had instant hot water. Wall color is a dark, which was not great, since it was an overcast week. Heated pool and whirlpool (outdoor) on site. I got in only once, due to the weather. The restaurant unfortunately is closed for dinner (right before we came). You can still get food such as burgers and quesadillas in the bar at night. They actually had the best prickly pear Marguerita I had on my trip! The quesadilla was really good; I think best use of green chile outside ot Tucson Tamale Co, Breakfast is super! You have a nice choice of free entrees to choose from (tip your server, though). They really know how to properly cook bacon! Everything I tried was great. The front desk staff was always helpful. Location was handy, being close to the I-10 and Saguaro West and all the other stuff along Gates Pass/Kinney Road.

We stayed here based on reviews and because we try to stay at BW hotels. We asked for and received a free upgrade to a suite. The room was comfortable, clean and very spacious. There was also a huge Jacuzzi tub which was nice to soak in after a long day of hiking. The breakfast is made to order which I think is much nicer than buffets where things sit around. Also the eggs were fresh and not powdered. We really didn't hear much train noise. If the room fan is left on, you really should not hear much of anything. All in all a nice stay

The outside of the property was lovely. Hot tub - Pool - Fountain- Landscape. The inside was OK with the exception of the bathroom which was dated and the toilet seat was old and stained. We scrubbed one stain off. They had night security due to many homeless across the street near the university. They have a restaurant and lounge/bar in property which is nice.

When we pulled into the resort, I admit I thought I made a mistake. The neighborhood was shady looking and there were lots of homeless. The hotel is old. But rooms were spotless. The restaurant was surprisingly good. Breakfast was great and complimentary. All in all a good place. Just make sure you lock your car doors. People were partying next to our car and left their bottles and food

Booked for 2019 Tucson Gem Show. Arrived while freight train was passing property at 10pm which made it impossible to carry on conversation outside in parking lot in front of lobby. Mentioned train to front desk clerk while checking in and she said not to worry that rooms come with free earplugs. Yes, you heard that right. You get FREE earplugs because property owners know freight trains are a dirty little secret about this property they can't or won't fix. Paper thin walls and atrocious outdated windows provide ZERO sound isolation. Trains run every 45min to 90min ALL night long. Left property for better location with another chain and regret not having used a different location initially. Picked this BW Royal Sun for its location near convention center - don't make the same mistake. GO ELSEWHERE. Any hotel that doesn't take actions to combat freight trains passing location except to give 25 cent earplugs needs to be closed.

Our family loves that you save plastic by having real coffee cups in the rooms and the shampoo and soap dispensers. We also like that you use regular plates and glasses at your breakfast and bar. The menu breakfast decreases wasted food. We thank you for being environmental friendly!!

Over all, the hotel room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Location is across the street from a large public park. Definitely not walking distance to attractions. Hotel staff was very nice and there is a restaurant connected to the parking lot.

Listed as Inn and Suites but it is what I think of as a two story motel ..2nts stay ... friendly welcome and speedy check in ... large complex... well designed and laid out .. was lucky enough to be allocated a large room on 2nd floor (remember, there is no ground floor in US) overlooking pool and spa pool plus have sitting out space on walkway ... room and bed comfortable ... all facilities and a first .. ear plugs ... soon became obvious .. the wail of a love stricken freight train calling out to its mate on a regular basis, day and night ... station through which, I assume, all freight must pass is only about a mile away as the crow flies ... traveling by coach from San Antonio to Tucson, we passed many very long, slow moving freight trains heading the same way. As with traffic noise,I found I soon got used to it and it faded into background ... earplugs not need .. but a light sleeper might think differently ... I would suggest reframing the sound and let it take you back to Western movies and books where the sound reminded lonesome cowboys, cowgirls and homesteaders that they were not alone! Breakfast includedo. .. a first ... no help yourself buffet but attentative table service with proper cutlery and crockery! Well done.

We travel quite a bit by land and after a day of driving it's nice to find a clean room and a comfortable bed. The hotel's staff is one of the best we've found. They are friendly, quick and professional. Our only request is to provide a microwave. I only drink tea and couldn't have a cup when I arrived and there isn't anywhere close to get one. The breakfast is great as it is provided in a restaurant, cooked to order and complimentary. Plus they offer other options for a price. Sadly the restaurant is closed for dinner. Now the 4 stars is due to the train. It isn't the hotel's fault, as the neighborhood has to live with it. However, if you are a light sleeper in need of a restful night, this is not the hotel for you. The train runs at all hours, frequently, and blows its whistle loudly. I have no issues as I sleep like a baby, plus I use ear plugs, but my husband had a hard time falling asleep, woke up several times, and I had to drive the first shift because he was too tired.

This hotel is a typical Best Western—nice facilities, well maintained and everything works well. However, it is located at the intersection of two major streets (Stone and Speedway Boulevard), and so there is a lot of traffic noise. It is an older hotel, so there is not much sound deadening included in the structure. Apparently this is recognized by the management, because the rooms come equipped with ear plugs. If you are a light sleeper, this not may be the best place for you.

We stayed here 2 nights while visiting Tucson. Front desk staff were very friendly. Great made to order breakfast at the adjoining restaurant each morning. They also provided BOGO drink offers in the evening. Location is just a few miles from a great selection of restaurants on 4th street. Some of the reviews mentioned trains, but it was not an issue for us. Rooms were clean and spacious.

We chose the hotel based on reviews and location. It provided comfortable beds and pillows, clean rooms and bathroom with good towels. Our drive saw us arrive early evening around 7pm and we were offered a choice of rooms either upstairs or downstairs. The pool area looked well maintained and people were using the spa and the gym. We were given drink vouchers and wandered over to the bar for some easy dinner and a drink. We were pleasantly surprised as there is entertainment every evening. We were lucky to hear a band Mo... something. There was one singer whose voice was very very good- the others were also good. The bar food was fine and was promptly served. Drink service was good. Breakfast is a great bonus here as the ‘free' breakfast is cooked to order and there are options if you choose to pay for different meals... all very reasonably priced. Our server was very friendly and attentive. There is a reason this place is busy and the other two places next door are empty. Is it not pretending to be high end....it is value for money. Yes, there is train noise but the room has ear plugs for guests. We didn't use them and we were able to sleep well. So if you are a light sleeper then the ear plugs would be the answer.

We have stayed here multiple times in the last few years and they have always delivered a great place for a fair price. The attached restaurant is no longer open for dinner (there are other places nearby), but they are open for breakfast and offer a great menu. They have a lounge attached to the restaurant and offer 2 for one drink special. People often site train noise, but we were not bothered by the train - they do offer earplugs as needed. Otherwise typical city noises.

An impromptu overnight trip to Tucson with my husband and I'm so glad we found this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable, offered fresh baked, warm cookies upon arrival. There is a cute little bar on site, which they give you two for one coupons for. We enjoyed some local craft beer, and again found the staff friendly. The room was clean, roomy, and so comfortable. If you have a chance to, get the room with the jetted tub. I took a swim in it and it was so relaxing. The bed was so comfortable we asked for late check out and missed the free breakfast. Loved that the location was close to downtown, and we will definitely be back very soon! Thank you for helping us have a great time!

We stayed here for 2 nights and especially enjoyed the breakfast, pool and hot tub. There was significant train noise at night and a homeless encampment in a park across from the motel. The motel is not too far from a better part of town. Our room lacked a microwave which is a considerable negative. Good tv with lots of choices.

Stayed here before always seems to have minor issues: broken ice machine, slightly "shop worn rooms". Lounge and entertainment was excellent. We heard a "Folk Fusion" artist named Jamie O'Brien who was absolutely world class.

Okay, I exaggerate. Just trains..lots of them. If you're a light sleeper, this may not be the place for you. I counted 16 trains passing by on night four because I couldn't sleep or believe the amount of train traffic blasting its whistle through the intersections of town. Being in the city, you'll hear the normal traffic and zippy motorcycles blasting by, but the trains drove me crazy, so much that on our last night because I couldn't sleep I counted 16 trains, not whistle blasts, passing by throughout the night just out of sheer curiosity and blood shot eyes staring at the ceiling. I also wish we knew there weren't elevators because my mother struggled with the stairs up and down each day, and to her disappointment no tubs. Otherwise, this hotel is clean, and the staff is professional and friendly. Great breakfasts and happy hours. Just wanted those light sleepers to be aware of this potential sleep hazard.

I personally like firm bed but this one felt like it was Comprised of a thin mattress on a board, something about the mattress was off. Still had a good night sleep- nice pillows. The style and structure of the suite we were upgraded to was awesome. Breakfast was good and freshly made to order – though the portions were rather small. Tip your waiter! The price and quality combo of this hotel is fantastic. One disappointment: Found a half eaten banana in one of the trashcans in our room- bananas can be especially stinky in general. Just a good reminder for housekeeping to glance in ALL trash cans when going over a room.

This hotel is awesome. We stayed 3 nights, had a room on the ground floor near the pool. The pool was supposed to be heated but don't think it was, it was perfect for laps but not just sitting. The room was huge, with a sink area separate from the bathroom, very handy. The bathroom had a window which we could open - a bonus. Bed was super comfortable. The room had a couch & fridge. And a porch with chair & table. Breakfast was included, allow time, it's pretty busy in there. They also have a happy hour onsite.

From check in with Angela to check out with Belem this stay was great. Not far from the university hot spots. Received an upgrade to a suite, large living area separated by a bathroom and bedroom. Nice Decour on walls. Grounds kept well-maintained. Had it been warmer I would've use the pool. The royal sun restaurant was fantastic. Kudos to the kitchen staff. Prime rib sandwich was out of this world. Breakfast is free - fantastic eggs, fresh fruit, bacon and waffles. All so very good.

Easy check in and out. Free breakfast in attached restaurant with option to pay extra for some additional dishes. Room was clean, bathroom clean, bed comfortable. Lots of parking. I'd stay here again.

Stayed here for two weeks, good location, room was clean, checking in and out was easy, nice staff, would recommend it,the only downside is you can hear people in the neighbouring rooms, other than that no complaints, two thumbs up!

I found this hotel when my daughter was coming to freshman orientation 2 years ago and it's the only one that we stay at because of it's continuous outstanding service and high quality rooms. Angela at the front desk is the best! This trip, we arrived early and I called Angela to see if we could check in early. At that time, our room wasn't ready, but out of the blue, she called me back an hour later and said it would be ready in 30 minutes. She hadn't offered to call me when we had first spoken, but she took it upon herself to call because it got ready sooner than expected. She went above and beyond, which is why we will keep coming back! Thanks!

The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay, from late-night checkin to late checkout. The restaurant and the bar were simple yet high-quality and pleasant. We would definitely recommend this hotel for families.

This is our second time using the hotel for a yearly business meeting. Building is older, but the rooms are clean and quiet. The free breakfast is large and delicious. The two for one drink tickets were only used Friday night, but was a great way to relax. On our final night we used the restaurant and the food was ageing fulfilling and delicious. We even brought back to the room. Only negative, no microwave, but the front lobby got us some plates and plastic silverware. With free ice we got our extra dinner and pie made it home next day, just as good. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

I searched carefully for a good quality, reasonably priced motel in Tucson and we were very happy with our stay at the Best Western Royal Sun. Our two queen bed room was very comfortable and the motel is well-located, with easy access to roads that lead to all the places we visited. An unexpected surprise was the full restaurant breakfast with wait staff included in our room charge - this full breakfast really sets the Best Western Royal Sun apart from other motels we have visited.

Our first visit in Tucson was great thanks to our two nights stay in this nice located hotel. Close to the fantastic Saguaro park East, we were pleasantly surprised by the great service of the personal of the hotel. Great spacy clean room and fantastic tailored breakfast.

Found this hotel last minute on Hotel Tonight and could not have been happier. The hotel is an older property but has been redone and is in great condition. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The room charge included free breakfast at the restaurant located on property. The hotel is very close to University of Arizona and I will definitely stay here in the future.

Well placed about 40mins from both sections of Saguaro park. It is on a busy street but most of the rooms are set back so you get no traffic noise. Prices are very reasonable so we had a suite on the top floor at the rear of the property. Desk staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Don't forget to pick up your vouchers for happy hour and breakfast. The room was very clean and spacious with a lounge area that could be closed off from the bedroom. Housekeeping has to be commended, the level of service was excellent. Breakfast is in the attached restaurant and the voucher covers a decent menu for freshly cooked meals and the staff at breakfast are really very good. I believe you can order from another menu but this does come at a cost. There was a school party there but the pupils were well behaved and apart from a bit of noise when they were in the pool you wouldn't know they were there. This hotel is perfectly placed for park visitation and we would certainly stay here again.

I loved staying here! The people were very accommodating and my room was very clean. I loved the breakfast . The evening Happy Hour was a deal and I was able to interact with other travelers. I will stay here again!

Facility is in good shape and well managed. Location is a trade off--it's close to downtown and the University of Arizona. But it's on a busy street near one of the busiest streets in town, and it's not exactly the better part of town. The value for the place is good, though, and the motel appears well secured.

All hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Room was good and hotel is pet friendly. Really didn't have any problems other than having a problem with TV but they send someone to help out within 5 minutes and the problem was resolved. Other than the rain, which I can't blame the hotel for, everything was good.

This Best Western is very dated. The property could be so cute with updating. It has a 60's vibe but the rooms need more TLC. You smell old cigarette smell in the room. Breakfast however was fantastic!!!

Though the price seemed right and the breakfast included option was appealling, there was a broken towel rack and something dirty on the comforter upon arrival. The front office staff were very helpful. Noisy and surrounded by a lot of transients.

When I travel, I always make sure I can find a Best Western near. I have stayed in this Tucson Hotel many times and am always satisfied. The restaurant is great for breakfast, dinner and a diversified bar that has events and karaoke. All the staff are pleasant and quick to help you whenever you need them. It is like being in my home away from home.

I chose this location because of the proximity to where I had to go for work. What a great value. The bed was a little hard, but we slept well. The room was overall comfortable and the breakfast was perfect. Staff was friendly. We stayed on a night when there was live music in the bar and it was great. I would stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights. We were wondering why there were ear plugs in the bathroom. Well we found out the first night. There is a train that goes by all night sounding it's whistle. The walls are paper thin, can hear the people next door to you likey they were in your room and they were just talking normal not yelling. They keep the pool open till 10pm. Kids were screaming while we were trying to sleep. Had to get up early for a flight. The room and were pretty clean it's just the other stuff I mentioned that weren't good.

Not top of the line and the breakfast is basic, but good value for money. Clean comfy rooms, nice pool, attractive gardens, very helpful staff. The bar looks basic but the food is better than average, the barman is great, and the Sunday we were there they had an excellent jazz group playing.

After retiring from the Detroit Police Department I hit the road on a year long journey I call Rebirth/Awakening. During my road trip I've camped and utilize hotel services through Best Western. BW has yet to disappoint...affordable, clean, comfortable and conveniently located across the USA. Anyone who knows me knows I am hyper-critical on customer service...BW has helped make my journey stressfree.

things I would ask for at this hotel: 1. Have a regular buffet rather than sit down at a restaurant. Though they are fast, still takes longer. If not possible, then at least let the customer take home a breakfast if one member cannot make it in time to get it.2. Have a microwave in room.3. As Tucson is on our route to California to visit family, my husband and I have stayed at this motel several times. We have always been very pleased with the rooms, the service, the staff, the onsite restaurant and more. Your stay includes a free, made to order breakfast at that restaurant and you also get 2 for 1 drink coupons for the evenings in the bar or the restaurant. There's a nice pool and spa, open for long hours and the location of the motel is quite convenient. Because I am a member in good standing, I have always gotten an upgrade to a suite without even asking for it. We highly recommend this place if you are passing through Tucson. Definitely a winner!

My son and I were out in Arizona as sadly my mother had passed on the way out to see her. We were looking for a reasonably priced motel. We found one that looked good until we got there and frankly I was concerned with staying at that location! We Google searched motels in the area and found the Best Western Royal Sun Inn Tuscon when we got there it was 100 times better than the first motel (not a Best Western)! This is my 3rd time stoping here on driving trips to and from California. Always very good. I have MS and use a scooter to my room and a walker in the room. The service to and from the room was fantastic. I was helped with my luggage and walker and unloading my scooter from my Dodge Caravan. The adjacent restaurant was excellent as well as was the lounge after dinner.

Hotel very clean, restaurant and lounge clean good service and good food. Bed is a little hard. Location is great for down town as well as central Tucson. Overall a very good stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

The Royal Sun,Tucson,looks a great place to stay all the public areas were clean with flower beds and trees. Not such a good reception though,the receptionist did not seem to be interested with her role,giving no information about facilities at all,wi-fi,or the location of the breakfast areas or restaurants, she appeared to be flippant with her replies to my questions about these matters,we made hard work of finding our room,due to this,It would be a good idea if the room numbers were fitted to the lower stairwells,at ground level,The room,however,agin without any information booklet,was nice, clean and large,the lamp was broken but the maintenance man , Richard,soon had this sorted with the minimum of fuss,extremely helpful and pleasant,a good team man,thank you.Slept very well, stay again ?....yes of course.

This place reminded me of a motel scene from a movie. Rooms were pretty spacious (although faint smell of cigarette smoke), cable was pretty robust in terms of premium channels, shower was powerful, A/C worked well, pool was warm in the summer but relaxing, neighborhood was a bit sketchy but felt safe inside the hotel fences, restaurant was terrible (and takeaway food served in styrofoam to boot), bar was a bit seedy with an odd local crowd. I'd stay here again, but only if the price was under $80.

Love staying at the Best Western Royal Sun Inn. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff provide excellent service. The complimentary breakfast in the morning is wonderful. We have been coming to Tucson for several years now and always stay here.

We stayed in a 2 queen bed room which had ample space for our family of 3. Room, hotel, and pool were spotlessly clean. Close to the highway but quiet location. Parking was readily available near the room. Breakfast was excellent in the restaurant attached to the hotel. Close to downtown locations, including a great restaurant we had dinner at: Cafe a la C'Art. Highly recommended!

A wonderful Best Western. We had a great suite upgrade to a beautiful room. Roomy, 2 tv's, 2 refridgerater and a huge king size bed. Breakfast was covered in the restaurant next door. Staff very friendly.

This place is very close to I-10 West easy off easy on. The hotel is close to everything in Tucson. Very clean wonderful staff and a great breakfast. If you you are traveling with a pet or with out this is the place to stay in Tucson

My flight got in early and I called to ask for an early check-in which was no problem (it is off season right now). Easy drive from the airport and super access to I-10 without the traffic noise. Stayed here because of Trip Advisor suggestions and I am not sorry I did. Initially, I drove up from behind the hotel and was a bit disappointed because it looked so ordinary from Speedway Blvd. Then I turned the corner and was met with a pleasant surprise. Anything this hotel might lack is made up with creative landscaping, friendly and helpful staff and an onsite restaurant that serves real meals - not a 'continental breakfast'. When I got to my room, the vent had a terrible noise emanating from it that would have been dreadful to try and sleep through, so I went to the desk and reported it. They immediately switched me to an upgraded suite that is well appointed, reasonably quiet, great air con, with black out shades to keep the heat of the sun on the outside. Bed is comfy, sitting room is nice, hot water with good pressure, working fridges (more than one - suite). It feels rather decadent to be staying here by myself! The only drawbacks: remotes to TV doesn't fully work, there is a train that runs fairly close and can be faintly heard from inside but it didn't bother me at all.

Stayed here for one night room very good, pool really great, evening meal in restaurant very good & moderately priced. The position of the hotel is good in fact I would have no hesitation in recommending it. But do feel that some staff training might be considered. The receptionist said 'you have a 1st floor room is that okay?' so we promptly collected our case from the car and were completely unable to find room, fortunately found a member of staff who was able to direct us to the ground floor. Not sure that it suits all your customers to have children screaming and yelling in the pool at 9.30pm at night. Having decided to make use of the onsite restaurant and have to say the food was excellant, however the service not so much. The waiter had an empty dining room which gave lots of time to study his phone.

We had a good experience with the hotel and ad jacent lounge and resturant. It was close to where we needed to be that evening. The only flaw to our stay the room we received was designated for handicapped people and we did not feel comfortable using the room because we are not handicaapped.

The Royal Sun exceeded our expectations by far. Comfortable and quiet (only modest foot noise from above). Excellent urban landscaping and many thoughtful exterior elements, down to the second-floor railings. Convenient location: we ditched our car several times to walk to the UA campus and great North 4th Avenue shops. Excellent, made-to-order breakfasts at the adjacent diner-like restaurant were an unexpected treat. (Consider a generous tip your friendly waitress even though the breakfast is free!) Lights in the guest rooms could be better positioned for travelers who like to read, but that's the case in most every motel. Wifi sometimes sluggish. Minor complaints. All in all, a great place.

Located in a busy part of town, however, once in our room it was peaceful and quiet. Room was large and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was convenient to have the restaurant/lounge/bar next door. Food was good.

I reviewed this hotel a couple of years ago, but am happy to do so again because this place never disappoints. My husband and I go on a lot of road trips and whenever we need to stop in Tucson, this is the place for us. We like the fact that there is a full service restaurant and a bar/lounge next door. We are issued 2 for 1 drink tickets as well as tickets for a full breakfast. The rooms are always clean and they are very spacious. The staff is friendly and efficient at the hotel as well.

Great location if attending events at the University of Arizona. I have stayed here every time I have come to Tuscon for a college even. The breakfast is very good and you have several choices to choose from.The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and in great working order.

The location was centrally located to all of our needs. We did all of our activities with-in 2 to 23 miles of the hotel. We had a noisy air condition system, the towels and pillows could have been better. One night at 2:30am, the quests next to our room was outside next our room chatting loudly, I called the front desk to complaint, which the desk warn these quests of the noises, they stopped.

This BW was an updated version of motels I visited as a child w/my parents. The difference was in the updated accommodations of this establishment that made it very comfortable and convenient. The breakfast was one of the best I've had in terms of choices, quality of meal and service. Instead of the usual serve yourself style arrangement, this BW actually had a restaurant style w/menus and servers to bring you your choice of breakfast. EXCELLENT! The location was convenient for our visit to the U of A, and was a determining factor in our choice.

The only real negative here is the weird parking for some of the rooms...not close. Our room was by the pool with outside seating area, nice. Room plenty large with nice bathroom. Bed good. We were out most of the days but had the cook to order breakfast each morning. Oh yum! We ate dinner there one night and wished we had eaten there the other nights. Food good, service wonderful, prices decent. Limited wine list but we found something. Overall, it was a good clean place with good service in a good area: not too close to downtown but easy to get anywhere.

First impressions are nice, the hotel grounds are nicely planted and bright and cheery. The check in was efficient, if a bit robotic and impersonal. Room was excellent, very spacious, spotless and modern, and the bed was comfy. There's also a couple of chairs outside (hotel is motel style) -which was nice, allowing us to sit out with a drink in the evening. Pool area also really nice. The attached restaurant is a bit dated and the bar lacks atmosphere, but the food in the restaurant- both breakfast and evening menu is excellent and decently value. You also get 2for 1 drinks vouchers which is a bonus. Only real complaint is that it's a good 20-25 mins walk to the main shops/bars/restaurants of Tucson, which I don't class as downtown or central as the hotel description suggests. When passing buses are going to ‘downtown' that suggests to me that you are not already downtown. It is handy for the freeway though. Trains are noisy in the night, but that's not the hotels fault, and just one of those things. If you don't mind being quite a way out of the main town area, the hotel is excellent and to be recommended.

Stayed here so we could visit the national parks and, being on Speedway Blvpd. seemed a god place to base ourselves. Check-in was efficient and quick. Had a suite which was quite big - living area with fridge and t.v., bathroom (wth anotherr fridge) and a large bedrom with another t.v. The suite was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast was served in the adjacent bar lounge. This was quite good but all the food was served together e.g. cereal and hot food, which got cold whilst eating the cereal! The bar also served quite good meals and had beers on draft. They also had a pool area with sunshine and shade. This hotel was very well run. I've never given 5 stars as I've never found perfection but this comes very close.

Breakfast was excellent and evening meals tasty. The convenience of an on-site restaurant after a busy day of touring was very appreciated. Pool looked nice though we didn't use it. We would definitely use this hotel again if we are in the area.

We recently spent 4 nights in this hotel. While the layout of our room was good and appeared to be fairly clean, there were 2 days our room had not been serviced because they never seemed to get to it before 4:00 and by then, we would have come back to our room from being out. I don't need my bed made and can reuse towels, but I like clean wash cloths, coffee and trash emptied daily. We had to request these things ourselves. Our room was also a little noisy...maybe for lack of better insulation?? We could hear people walking in the room above us and one night both of us were awakened by very loud pounding above. With the exception of those things, everything else was okay. The breakfasts were really good and the staff in the restaurant and hotel, were friendly.

Well kept retro best western with nice amenities for our brief vacation visit to Tucson. Nice outdoor pool area and hot tub. Free breakfast off good menu choices in the adjacent restaurant. Good access to Saguaro NP.

Where do I begin? The pros: budget friendly motel; offered extra BW points in lieu of snack and also no housekeeping services; free breakfast is cooked to order rather than a precooked buffet; two for one beer, wine or margarita coupon in the restaurant or lounge. Cleanliness of room was acceptable, although shower curtain was too long and dirty at the bottom (? the beginning of mold issues). Cons, advertised as "downtown" --- not my idea of being downtown (in fact I question the safety of the neighborhood). This is a two story motel with all rooms outside. If you like train whistles blowing at all hours (including 3AM) this place is for you. WIFI is not secure; upon arrival I was given a WIFI password but soon found out there was no secure WIFI. I questioned this both on our arrival day, as well a the following day, and got idiotic answers blaming others. On site restaurant is ok for breakfast, but go somewhere else for dinner. Would I stay here again, NO.

The Royal Sun Inn has beautifully landscaped grounds and large clean rooms. I love these old style motels that Best Western has put their stamp on. The Inn also has a great made to order breakfast that is complimentary with their rooms.

This was our second stay at this hotel and we love it. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. The hotel is centrally located to the attractions we like to visit. I highly recommend.

Great hotel with clean, comfortable rooms. Made-to-order breakfast is included. Staff was super friendly and totally professional. Michael, the maintenance man, was especially nice. He really went the extra mile for us and even offered to help load our luggage in the car when we checked out. This is our favorite place to stay in Tucson!

The hotel, overall, is very nice. If you travel with someone in a wheelchair, then you need to avoid the rooms in the back. There is no wheelchair ramp. We did not ask for a wheelchair accessible room, but come on, you still need a ramp for the rooms in the back. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We love the consistency of Best Western hotels. The Royal Sun Inn & Suites did not disappoint! Our stay was great from the check in until the check out. The restaurant for breakfast was great. Nice menu options and we even ate dinner there for two nights. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Other comments were made about noise but none of us noticed any noise from trains or traffic. Will definitely stay at the Royal Sun on our next visit to Tucson.

Good place to stay for reasonable price. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good! Hotel is near university - centrally located. Room was large with a suite. Hotel seems to be old but has been updated.

We responded to the survey. Would not go back at the end of the month but are being penalized $85 of the hotel fee. We will talk to the staff about our concerns when we arrive. As soon as we arrived home we did try to cancel but it was a few days too late.

This was my second visit to this property. I came back because of the positive experience I had during my first stay. Unfortunately, this stay was much less enjoyable because of a flock of very loud birds who were roosting in a large tree not more than 10 feet from my room door. The birds awakened my before dawn and did not stop until about 8 a.m. On my previous trip, I was assigned a quiet room in the corner near the pool. Other than this intrusion, that the hotel could fix if they wanted, I give the hotel a high rating . The hotel is well located for the U. of Arizona and a full breakfast is table served in the adjoining restaurant.

I stayed for a quick overnight while in town on business. The value or price was good, but trains tooting their whistles every hour or half hour starting at 2am made it difficult to sleep. The walls are thin as were the ceilings so you could hear other guests. Upstairs the person walked very hard on the floors before 5:30 am. Not a good nights sleep after a long travel day.

The hotel proved to be a very good value. The pool was heated and very clean. The breakfast was sit down style at an nice quaint resturant. Our suite had two refrigerators with a sitting area. Over all it was a good value for an updated older style hotel.

Old, dark, bathroom door had “something “ crusted on it. Check-in clerk brusque. Heard the trains every 45 minutes all night long. Thin walls and ceiling. Heard coughs and footsteps every time the people above us move around.

We stayed 5 nights and had a great experience. By booking ahead through BW we got an excellent rate. The room was large, stall shower but no tub. Has two levels and we chose ground floor. The pool and spa had lifts to help handicapped enter the water. The restaurant breakfast was excellent. Location is terrific— right off I10 next to Speedway. Grounds are well maintained. The facility might be older style but interiors have been updated. We thought it was charming. There was mention in the reviews of trains in the evening and we could hear them faintly but didn't notice after falling asleep. There is a public park across the street on Stone.
