    « A VERY NICE hotel »

There was plenty of parking and the staff was very, very nice. I really enjoyed the extensive breakfasts. The pool/spa area was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, the sink backed up and smelled vile. But I called the front desk and their maintenance main was knocking in under 10 minutes. He fixed the problem and then called in a housekeeper to clean the sink and surrounding counter. The smell immediately dissipated and all was well.

    « comfortable room »

It's on the pricey side, but there aren't many choices in this area. We find it better than average. And the breakfast is better than most in this class. We stay here when visiting family. The best rooms go to their frequent travelers.

    « Nice hotel »

We enjoyed our stay here very much. It was not far from the I5, so it was easy for us to get back on the road in the morning to continue our trip. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and we really enjoyed the jetted tub in our room. Staff that we met were very friendly and happy to point us in the right direction for places we wanted to see. We didn't love the breakfast compared to other Best Westerns that we have stayed at, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker, we would definitely stay here again!

    « Value Hospitality »

Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We were able to choose our exact room because of our three night stay. All amenities were across the road. Overall a great location. Rooms were a little dirty.

« Nice Hotel. Great Service. »

Very comfortable place to stay. Lots of space in rooms. Fun towel decorations. Friendly staff. Many places nearby to eat. Some you can walk to. Super Safe area. Certainly one of the better Best Westerns I have stayed in.

« I can't say enough good things about this hotel and the staff. »

I am always hesitant to stay in a hotel that offers breakfast as it is usually a disappointment. This hotel was a pleasant exception to the rule. The breakfast was great. There were was a nice selection of choices including fresh fruit and porridge and the staff seemed to go out of their was to bring in more food as it was needed. We were also pleased to see that the staff were friendly and seemed to like their jobs. The hotel is within a reasonable distance of shopping and of the city of Portland. Our room was large, clean and the beds were comfortable. The highlight for me was the staff at the front desk. Each person we dealt with went out of his way to help us. We didn't have GPS in our rental car, so the staff printed off maps for us to get to and from where we wanted to go. They also offered suggestions of places to eat and places to shop. They seemed to genuinely care about providing good service. We have visited the Portland area for over 20 years. This is the best hotel experience we have had in all that time. We look forward to returning.

    « Clean and Quiet »

Clean rooms, courteous staff, and real breakfast. Would stay here again. Did not spend much time in the room- but very comfortable. Lots of pillows, lots of outlets for devices. Towels were folded to look like turkeys, which was a fun surprise.

« Good price. Good stay overall. »

My room had clearly been a smoking room at some point. I have stayed at this hotel twice now and did not notice a smell the first time I stayed here. I would go back again but would request a room that had never been a smoking room. Very polite staff.

    5
    « Pleasant stay »

I have stayed at this hotel many times in many years as I have relatives who live across the road in a mobile park. This hotel is clean...quiet if you get a room to the back of the hotel. The breakfast has many choices....you would pay up to $10 for the breakfast if you ate out in a cafe. I will stay there whenever I am in town.

« Always a pleasure to stay at this hotel! »

This hotel has it all...great rooms and beds, kind, professional caring staff. Great wifi and cable tv on large flat screen. Safe, easy parking. Great complimentary breakfast. Rooms are very clean and tidy and updated.

« Overnight stay at BW Plus Northwind Inn »

Arrived in Portland early Saturday evening and was heading to Newport on Sunday. The location of this hotel was ideal for my journey. I pre-paid in advance to secure a better rate and was very satisfied with the room. Breakfast was good. Staff was great.

    5
« Excellent service and quality »

Great staff, comfortable beds and warm pool. The food was average for this chain but fresh. Overall, this was an excellent Portland hotel. We always appreciate best western and the quality it provides.

    5
    « Everything was great »

First off, I had been driving all day, and it was insane rain, I just wanted to get in my room and sleep, front desk was AWESOME. He let me know there was a grocery store across the street (I wasn't paying any attention to anything except getting to the hotel), just all around a very friendly guy and I wasn't feeling so overwhelmed. The room was amazing. Super clean, the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was great too!

    5
    « Quick weekend stay »

Exceptional staff -responsive and professional. Any questions I had were answered Ina positive and respectful manner. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. I like that we were able to open our rooms window. This hotel follows "Eco" policy and dispenses soaps, shampoos, lotion. In room coffee.

    1
    « Very poor stay »

Put grab bars in all bathrooms, not just a few. I had just injured my leg days before our stay, so the beds were so hard and uncomfortable that my leg hurt worse. Going to the bathroom with an injured leg and lowering self down to the toilet was almost too hard to do. There was a language barrier in the kitchen. My husband asked for pastries or sweet rolls, their reply was there were bagles.

    5
    « quick turn »

I returned to this property because of my last stay. It is conveniently located for west and southwest Portland business. The room was quiet and clean, breakfast was fresh and well stocked. This was a slow day so there were no crowds in the breakfast room. All security features worked. Staff was friendly and well attired for the class of the Inn. Exterior of property and grounds were well maintained.

    4
« Great place to stay »

This is my second time using this property. The customer service is excellent (Jonathan provided excellent customer service) from the front desk personnel to the staff handling the breakfast detail. The room was very spacious which included a sofa, a huge flat screen tv, comfortable beds, microwave and fridge. The reason i didn't give it a 5 is because finding the place can be challenging at first. The hotel is of HWY 99 and sets back off the road. At night it can be very difficult to find the hotel plus the lighting to the driveway entrance is not lit very well so you can drive right past it. other than that my overall experience has been great. I would definitely stay here again.

    4
« Been there done that... »

We stayed a number of times at this Best Western while in the Portland area recently. Every stay was consistently and comfortablely the same. We returned each time becuse their service was very good, and the staff were attentive to our request...even after hours. It was close to everything. My wife pointed out attention to detail with our towels folded into swans and mints on the pillows. We were at this BW 4-5 times over a two month period....and looked forward to each stay. We won,t stay anywhere else when in the Portland Tigard area...you won't be disappointed. KB

« Great hotel with great staff! »

We travel for business quite a bit and some personal travel as well and we're always on the lookout for a moderately priced, but clean and well-maintained hotel. We hit the JACKPOT with this one! Prashant Gupta is, I believe, the GM of this hotel and is not usually there, but he was the one who greeted us behind the registration counter when we arrived. He was so friendly and helpful, a bright shining smile and welcomed us warmly. He was actually the one who checked us in and gave us all pertinent information about our stay> he inquired if we were in town on business or pleasure and even though we were not going to be in town long enough to see some sights, he encouraged us to return and see the great tourist attractions in the area. The room was fantastic and very well apportioned. great view and very quiet! When we came down for breakfast the next morning, he had a coffee pot in hand checking with everyone to see if they needed a refill and jokingly said he needed to "earn his keep"! As we spoke with him about having to leave VERY early the next morning and we lamented we wouldn't be able to get breakfast, he asked us what time we would be leaving and they would pack us a to-go-bag with yogurt, fruit, bagel, etc. for the trip to the airport! Very cool! We WILL be back for a personal trip sometime next year and THIS hotel will be where we stay!

    « Great, comfortable hotel »

Wonderful place to stay, clean, comfortable, quiet, safe. The breakfast was great, lots of variety, something for everyone. Great location, close to many attractions, mall shopping, restaurants. Have stayed her many times and would stay again.

    4
    « Adequate »

We were able to do laundry and they had the supplies at the front desk. They left us a little goodie bag because we were on our honeymoon. Jacuzzi tub was nice but very loud! They gave us lots of towels.

    4
    « Love this hotel! »

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times for both business and pleasure. Its comfortable, great location and the staff is very friendly and professional. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needed to stay in the area.

    4
« Out of town visiting our granddaughters middle school. »

Trip for a middle school activity. Found it a good location and staff was friendly. Would use again when visiting Portland. Not real please with the outside parking lot lighting and a bit difficult locating the road to enter the hotel.

    5
    « Good value »

Drive little from the airport and great values and a clean room to be had. From reception to available parking, nearby places to explore - a great option in this location. Room was clean, quiet, relaxing - all that you can ask for

    5
    « Great and cofortable »

Great place to stay, comfortable, clean and friendly staff, would highly recommend. The room was clean and so comfortable and very spacious. i would stay her if I were in the area again. Made our trip so much nicer to be so comfortable.

    5
    « Business 431 »

This is a nice place and great city. The only complaint I had was the breakfast gravy was awful. Taste like it is canned. The room was nice and clean the staff was friendly and helpful. The pillows were small but they give you 4 for each bed.

    5
    « Worth Every Penny »

The room was clean and modern, housekeeping was excellent, and the hot breakfast was delicious and varied daily. They even allowed us to check in early since they had a room available. We have stayed here several times and the service just gets better and better.

    5
« short stay in Tigard »

booked it because of location being close to a friend's place ... I must say it was an awesome place, clean and tidy with very professional staff Breakfast could use some more choices, but was still pretty good

    5
« Willl stay here again »

Large clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and one of the best breakfasts we have had in a Best Western make this a must stay on future visits to this area. Pool and spa were sparkling clean, and a pleasure to visit. We had nothing at all to complain about, or even to suggest that might be improved. One of very few hotels that I can honestly give 5 stars to..

  • 4
« Comfortable Place to Stay »

We fine that BW's are clean and the beds are comfortable. BW is usually one of the first hotels we look to when we are traveling and need a place to stay. Staff are friendly and informative. There is variety in the breakfast items.

    5
« Good hotel in south Portland area »

This place is on the old US Highway 99 and is a little off the more heavily travelled I-5 route, but the deviation will be rewarded as the hotel is well equipped and comfortable, and priced reasonably. Beds are very comfortable (at least the King Sized ones are). There is a good Irish pub across the intersection within a 5 minute walk.

    5
« better than Best Western »

I've stayed in a lot of Best Western hotels over the years. Recently, I've sworn away from them. I booked this one because of the convenience of the location, the price and the suite for our family of 6. I expected mediocre at best but walked away very pleased. In fact, we were all quite surprised! It's obvious that the management team and owners are into making the best of our stays and experience, given their resources. Here's a quick list of specific observations: -incredibly clean rooms -feels safe (locked exterior back doors at night, good neighborhood, etc.) -comfortable beds -clean couches -low quality shampoo and conditioner but smart that they're in dispensers rather than little bottles (green and keeps costs down for them/us) -family suite was roomy and comfortable -good wifi -plenty of lights -small gym but complimentary pass to gym across the street or "workout in a bag" option -decent indoor pool -breakfast was pretty weak but to be expected for the price point

    4
    « Repeat customer »

I've stayed there before and will stay there again. Price is fair for what you get: a nice room, adequate parking, courtious staff, Hot breakfast, comfortable bed and daily maid service. You may not get to read this as they wanyt 200 charcters minimum and I feel what I said pretty well cover it

    5
    « Lovely »

Fantastic room and services for the price. They have a pool and served a hot breakfast. Thevroom had a king bed and everything was fresh and fairly new. The decor was great and fairly upbeat. The front desk check in was a breeze.

    5
« Very comfortable and convenient »

This was my second time here. Very updated rooms and facilities. Convenient to everything you need. Only downside was my room had a slight smoke smell even though non-smoking. The smell was not intense enough to switch rooms, though.

    4
    « Best western Tigard »

We were pleasantly surprised this modest priced hotel was clean and roomy. We were comfortable there The room had a couch and refer in it The free breakfast was tasty and the staff was very friendly The owner was onsite and was good for a joke. I'd stay again.

    5
    « Great Experience »

I return to this property each time I am visiting this area because it is reliably excellent. Staff are friendly and accommodating. I require ADA facilities which are comfortable and offer a king bed. There is a pool lift with a battery that is always charged and available. Rates are favorable. Food service is good.

    5
« Tigard Value at the Northwinds »

The Northwinds made a week long business trip easy and relaxing. The place was clean and the staff were polite. The breakfasts were hot and the coffee was fresh. I enjoyed returning for the evening all week...

    5
    « Tigard destination »

Property is clean and updated. Front desk staff helpful and referred us to wonderful Mexican restaurant. Room was spacious and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast room is small but works for the property.

  • 4
« Nice hotel / Would stay here again »

Rooms were very nice, had classical music playing in room when we arrived. Dispensers instead of little bottles which was nice. Staff friendly, entire hotel clean, comfortable environment. Only minor problem is we were disappointed in the breakfast, not 100% but with a few little things.

    5
    « Location, location, location »

The location of this hotel was central to everything we came to do in the Portland area. If you want to skip the hustle and bustle of the city and don't mind small 20 minute drives, then this hotel is for you.

    4
    « Great hotel »

Hotel was very clean, hardwood floors & the layout was very user friendly. Updated Suites. The staff was very nice & accommodating. We would definitely stay here again. Great location as you are right off the highway so you are close to whatever you need. Coffee, shopping, restaurants, ect.

    4
« Decent place to stay »

We were upgraded to the "spa" suite which we thought was great. But it turned out we went from a king sized bed that we reserved to a queen. Next time we'll ask more questions. It was a convenient location for what we wanted to do, but very awkward in and out of hotel onto one-way only street.

    5
« Home away from home »

Wonderful experience, courteous staff, clean and comfortable room. Nice touches including the "towel swans" in the bathroom. The room was quiet and we slept without interruption. Appreciated all of the amenities provided.

    2
    « Stinky Smelly Room 382 »

Room 382 smelled like a wet dog had run through a sewer. We checked in on Friday and only had time to drop off bags and run for a wedding so we opened the window to "air" out the room. The window was opened until we checked out Sunday morning and the room still smelled nasty. Only stayed there b/c my elderly parents live in Summerfield. Next time I'll stay down the road.

    5
« Great option for Portland area »

I was pleased to find this hotel while driving back from the south of Oregon to Portland. It was clean and friendly and everything you'd want for the night. Great rate and included a hot breakfast which I didn't get up for. The desk man provided me a lot of information for walking around Portland, even descriptions of neighborhoods that were visit worthy. This hotel reminded me of the extended stay Marriott's ambiance. The bed was super comfy too.

    5
« We will gladly return! »

Not only was the location convenient to everywhere we needed to be, everything about the facility was first rate. Rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable, the staff was pro-active and friendly, and the breakfast buffet is a cut above the norm. Highly recommended.

    5
« High Satisfactory and Good Coffee! »

This is a Best Western, but it felt more like a Courtyard or Garden inn. The room was VERY clean and quite large (2 queens and a sofa). The desk staff was kind and professional. The breakfast was ok.. the usual make it yourself waffles, cereal, toast and steamer pan eggs and bacon. Great Coffee!!! The breakfast steward worked very hard to make sure everything was clean, tidy and stocked for each new group. I will stay there again!

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

We were greated professionally at the front desk. When we entered our room it was at a convenient temperature, with sufficient lighting to move around. Classical musical was playing on the entertainment unit. Bathrooms were well equipped and maintained. Complementary breakfast was hearty and more than enough selection to make it healthy. Definitely would stay again and invite family and friends.

  • 5
    « Great trip »

Beautiful setting, great service, nice staff will book here again for sure, everything was very close by, the restaurant recommendations was great and we really enjoyed our evening, breakfast was the only thing lacking

    5
    « Enjoyable stay »

We stayed here for a weddding in the area. Hotel was perfect for us! Had no problems. Room was well furnished, clean, and comfortable. Would stay here again if we returned tio the area. Convient location.

    5
« Great choice for a good price »

The hotel staff is very friendly. The hotel overall is wonderful for the price point. Rooms are good size and comfortable, easy in and out as well, good location. Only items I would recommend improvement would be breakfast and cleaning of cups in rooms. I noticed it was the same cups and they were not washed, only cleaned with some sort of cleaner that smells. Not sure that gets germs out. Big concern for me.

    5
    « Birthday celebration »

Excellent place! Always stay in the family suite because it accommodates the best! Breakfast is amazing and there is restaurant in front of the hotel!! Love it! This is my go to place, i recommend this hotel to all my friends and family when traveling to Portland.

    5
« We're back after a yer and still love the place »

Still excellent service from the desk, housekeeping, and breakfast staff. The hotel is clean, spacious rooms, good breakfast, right off the highway. Lots of nearby restaurants for lunch or supper. Indoor swimming pool and hot tub. 3 floors with elevator.

    5
« Business trip turned luxurious! »

Beginning from the first phone call to reserve a room, the manager was kind and the upheld the purest form of customer service. The gentleman at check in was kind, considerate, and made us feel cared for & more than that, special! The room was superb, luxurious, quiet, and had the most beautiful sunrise view out the window to wake up to!

    « September 2016 »

Customer service is a plus. All of them provide with a warm welcome and make you feel home. Greg, Jon and Andrew have a great attitude. Whole variety of rooms to choose from. Bed comfort and decoration is great. Lots of surrounding places to visit and eat.

    5
    « Very nice property »

Nice property with nice decor and furnishings. Large window that opens. Nice L-shaped desk that faces window. Andes mints in room with music playing. Good location off busy road so it's quiet. Good pricing. Would highly recommend.

    5
    « Great stay! »

Although this location is south of Portland, it is very convenient to local restaurants, etc. We didn't mind driving into the city to do our sightseeing, etc. It was quiet and very nicely decorated. The breakfast was crowded, but with a little patience everyone got a nice hot meal. :-)

    3
    « Eh »

Room was ok. Breakfast was, well what you expect for free. We ate at a local place called Elmers, yum. Our bed was uncomfortable. The indoor pool and spa were nice. And since when does breakfast end at 9:30 a.m?

  • 4
« Clean, friendly and inexpensive »

$130 a night booked 4 months in advance. It was very clean and the staff was friendly considering it was OREGON. I would stay again if I was ever in the Portland area again. The only down fall to the place is the highway leaving the parking lot. You must turn right and then go down make a U-Turn if you need to go in that direction! Oh and it's right across the road from a Panda Express which I love!!

    3
« Long Waits To Be Helped At Check-In »

Hotel bed, room, pillows, shower, cleanliness all first rate. Wait time to check in ridiculous. Hotel clerk was helping some women operate her tablet and neither he nor she had any clue what they were doing. Nice Irish Pub across the street, definitely recommend the happy hour bar and appetizers.

    3
    « Average hotel »

This is an average hotel - room was comfortable but lighting was poor; comfortable bed but pillows were too hard. My room faced the road, and traffic noise was loud with my window open. Fitness room was small and so-so quality. I would recommend parking in the front lot, so the car is visible from the street. I parked in the back and my car was broken into overnight. There is no security camera in the parking lot. I was told that there has never been a problem but it sounds like break-ins are becoming more prevalent in the area.

    5
    « Quiet and restful »

Numerous stays at this property, the best. Landscape feature near the entrance sets the peaceful tone for your stay; a gentle stream of water surrounded by beautiful green plants and shrubs. Friendly staff, always willing to answer your questions and fulfill your requests. Tasty breakfast to start your day.

    5
« One of our favorites »

Love the rooms and the staff. All very friendly, convenient to lots of things in the area. The room is always clean. Staff goes above and beyond to help you with directions or getting a room at your next destination.

    5
« Northwind Inn more like Northwind in Paradise »

We came in to the room with the radio being played and and the sight and smell of a clean room. Over the years, our family has stayed there at this property multiple times for various reasons, and we keep coming back! Also, the bath towels are folded like birds and it took this Best Western room from a hotel feel to a room in the Caribbean feel. All around love this Best Western

    5
    « Outstanding »

Loved every aspect of my stay at this hotel. Impeccably clean, great breakfast, warm and friendly staff. Loved having a swim in the clean pool after a long day of travel. I'm fussy about showers but this one lived up to my standards!

    4
« Clean Hotel with Quiet Room But.... »

We stayed two nights and were generally satisfied with the property. A couple of issues need to be pointed out however. We booked a room with a king bed and were told by the front desk staff that we would be upgraded....to a room with a Jacuzzi tub...well that was fine except the bed was reduced to a queen. The rods on the bathroom towel rack kept falling onto the floor as the rack needed to be replaced. We left the rods on the floor and the maid staff merely replaced them so they would fall again. There was no Kleenex in the room. The room was quiet, parking was convenient and breakfast was very good. Wi-fi was good.

    4
« Great stay, Great breakfast! »

Clean, comfortable, and spacious room. Nice pool and hot tub to warm up on a rainy Portland evening. Best Western doesn't lie when they say they have the best breakfasts. We had waffles, eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. Figured our family of 3 saved $30 just on breakfast staying here. Only minor complaint is the walls seemed a little thin for my noise sensitive sleeping.

    4
    « review »

We were satisfied. We had an other family member who was not as satisfied due to the fact they tried to pay with cash and had to give credit cards not just once but TWICE!!! I feel that once the room was secured with a credit card there should not have been a reason to get a second verification.... not nice to those who pay cash only.

« Very nice-looking property, but there are definitely some issues »

This was the nicest BW I've ever seen. Very lovely property, nice parking lot, attractive lobby, and the room was big, clean and comfortable. Having a couch and a low table in the room was a BIG help. And receiving Andes mints on our check-in night was very much appreciated! All of the people working in the lobby were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was okay, but not everything they advertised as having available for breakfast was actually available. And the person working the breakfast area on Saturday and Sunday morning was late getting to work, I guess, and very grumpy to the visitors. Don't expect to have oatmeal while you're there. I waited 3 days for it to show up in the big pot, and, when it was finally available, it wasn't very good, sadly. Some of those instant oatmeal packages would have been perfect! Too bad they are not offered. I asked. Grumpy lady said NO! The wifi worked some of the time. When we checked in, our room was spotless. I guess the fact that we were there for 4 nights meant that the cleaning service didn't pay much attention to cleaning the room during our stay. It wasn't vacuumed while we were there, the towels weren't ever changed (which, for ecological reasons, I get, but at least take the ones that are obviously dirty!), and the beds were sort of halfway-made. Literally. Half of the sheets were tucked in, and half weren't, on the same bed. That amused us! We used the coffee cups, and those weren't washed, either. Perhaps we were supposed to clean everything ourselves? That'd be fine. If so, a note saying so would have been helpful. And some dishwashing soap. :) I will definitely stay at the BW Northwind again, as it's overall very nice (and conveniently located in a very quiet area!). I was hoping to be sent a survey, as I've always received surveys every other time I've stayed in a BW, but I didn't receive one this time. I would rather have said all this directly to the property owner, and not on Trip Advisor, but ... no survey received!

Great location, close to everything. The staff was super helpful in recommendations. My only and important complaints was second day hottub was more like a cold/warm tub. I really needed it but oh well. Breakfast was less than what we wanted and check out should be at noon instead of 11.

We always stay at this hotel when in this area. A perfect spot..great service..nice rooms. There are a lot of restaurants close by as well as shopping. It is a great value for what you get. The staff is always very helpful and professional. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Great location for visiting the Portland area. The staff was very helpful giving us advice and directions to some of the best places in the area to visit. The recommendations for restaurants was right on target. The rooms and lobby was clean and very welcoming. We stayed for four nights and never had any problems or complaints about the staff, rooms or breakfasts.

Employee called me before check in and was rude. Different employee checked me in was rude. Breakfast was good however kitchen staff was rude rolling eyes at me and my disabled son several times. Deep sighing and acting put out is not a good quality of hotel employees

Nice place to stay. Safe neighborhood. Clean, quiet, comfortable hotel. Regular hotel breakfast-they do have meat, little rubbery sausage things:) Overall nice hotel. We were only there to sleep, eat breakfast and move on so did not get a chance to explore the hotel or use the swimming pool or weight room.

Loved the hotel, John was a great person, Oregon is beautiful and the places we went and the food was wonderful. I recommend the historical society museum to understand the background of Oregon. The Rice rock and mineral museum gives you a chance to see the country side of Oregon as well as their array of beautiful rocks and minerals.

Let me tell you if your looking for an amazing place for a great price this is IT!! The entire staff and manager is amazing!! John at the front desk and well really everyone. The ladies that make up the rooms will help in anyway they can to make sure your well taken care of. I stay in 5 star hotels most everywhere I go. I have only found this hotel in this area to be the best of the best. There aren't any better. What ever you ask for they have it. And there customer service is by far the best I've have the privilege of having in years. Also I have been staying here about twice a year for six years. I've stayed at the down town Marriott an this is far better. Thank you to everyone here at the BEST I MEAN BEST hotel around here. Respectfully, Colonel PARADISE

I give a rate of 4 out of 5 . It's convenient to all the businesses ...the only negative is the distance from the freeway.. I thought its much closer to Portland. The staff at the front desk when we checked in is very friendly and accomodating.

« Always clean, comfortable and accommodating »

We have stayed at this establishment several times over the last four years and have always found it delightful. I've never seen it less than spotless, their continental breakfast is a step above many other hotel offerings and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Clean, quiet, and nice. Rooms are reasonably quiet from room to room noise and the vending machines were built into the edge of our bathroom with no noise, you could hear a little if you concentrated. Breakfast was fresh and hot, and kept full. Security features worked very well. The driveway in is a little sneaky the first time in. Most anything you could need is not far away. Easy access to major neighborhood streets so no need to use plugged up freeways .Elevators were clean and quiet.

This is the nicest BW we have seen, great location in a retired community, clean and friendly, and quiet at night. I highly recommend this hotel and location. Breakfast is okay...I ended up just going to Starbucks across the street.

« Excellent, quit and very accommodating. »

This BW was our last stop on a weeks celebration of 58 years of marriage. After a very long drive from Gold Beach to Tigard OR it was great to again work through Costco travel to find us yet another super BW room in Tigard OR. Thinking we would find a room on our own did not make reservations for our last night out.The Oregon coast was totally booked out so we were tired, hot ,and ready to stop. A nice welcome from the front desk. Wonderful, positive, room value above and beyond. Quite and comfortable. Ask for a suggestion for evening meal. Received positive and it was good. If and when we travel in Tigard area again will most definitely stay at the BW Northwind.

« Super friendly staff, but room #330 smelled of cigarette smoke »

This hotel has been our choice for many years whenever we visit family. We've always been pleased with the staff and the room. We were here for one night on our most recent stay. Our room, #330 smelled of cigarette smoke. It is marked as a non-smoking room. We didn't discover this until our return late that night. Too tired to complain and ask for a different room. We kept the air circulating and my asthma didn't kick in. Still, I have to wonder how housekeeping didn't notice the smell. It was pretty strong. Not sure if we'll go back.

    « Highly Recommend! »

Hotel staff were great and very friendly. Complimentary breakfast was great. When headed out one afternoon, there were hot fresh baked cookies at the front desk. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for our family. The suites face the busy road with a view of the rooftop but we were pleasantly surprised that the road noise was not a problem at all!! This was my third stay at this property and I have been very pleased with all my stays. Highly recommend!!

« This hotel is the best hands down! »

Always a pleasure to come to this hotel. Everything works like it should. The rooms are so comfortable and the beds are the best. Thick towels and high thread count sheets. The staff is awesome. The operations manager Greg Martin is an asset to this hotel always a pleasure to find him at the desk and he strives to meet the traveler's needs.

« The hotel staff was super friendly and the room we have was roomy and clean! »

We booked a one bedroom suite with 3 queen beds and stayed for two nights. On our first night, my sister went to the front desk to ask for hot chocolate as she was unable to find it with the coffee/tea bar. On the second night, the staff remember my sister's request and promptly provided her with a few more. ;)

I've stayed here a few times, but this time was the best yet. I'm a diamond member so I was given a spa upgrade. How lovely to have the spa! I slept very well, and the bed was quite comfortable. The chair was comfy and the mints were a perfect sweet treat. I enjoyed the room and didn't leave to use the pool or even have breakfast!

« Quiet, clean high end accommodation »

Very nice, convenient and clean. Took my daughter 16 along with my granddaughter 5 on a nice summer adventure. It may be the last one with both girls together, as sad as that may sound, this trip was fantastic.we visited many sites along our road from eastern Washington to the Oregon coast and around the north end of Pacific highway I know we will all remember this trip for the remainder of our lives. As I grow old and they grow up they will want to revisit this journey with the ones they love.

    « Quiet and clean. »

I booked a two queen bed room online. It was decorated very nicely and had a couch and table with two chairs. The beds were very comfortable and the room was fresh and clean. I didn't hear a sound all night. Breakfast was decent. I will definitely stay here again.

We were really pleased with the courteous, accommodating service. We were allowed to change rooms (2 beds instead of 1...teens don't like to sleep with Grandma! : ) Beds were very comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows. Our room was on the back of the building, away from the highway (recommended!) as it was very quiet...no disturbances. Coffee service in the room with a microwave, was a plus! Breakfast was more than adequate with high protein choices plus the usual breads. It was a great stay. And we'll be back!

Our stay at Northwind Inn was most enjoyable. Beds were very comfortable; lots of nice fluffy pillows; easy access to wi-fi. In room coffee service and microwave (didn't expect that!) « Average at best »

Sort of lack lustre on all fronts. Very average room with functional included breakfast. No fault of the hotel itself but more of a tip for people unfamiliar with the area, access to the hotel is from the southbound road only, making exiting the hotel to the north frustrating.

« Fourth time at Northwind »

Nice rooms, comfortable beds. We like the extra pillows on the beds. Excellent staff, cleanliness and service. Breakfast was a disappointment because of quality control and lack of freshness, especially the breads. All breads were stale and smelled old. Hopefully this will be corrected for our next stay. Check-in and check-out was a breeze.

Overall, very nice hotel - clean room, nice staff and nice grounds / location. Breakfast area is WAY too small for a property this size - packed, chaotic and stressed out breakfast crew. Location a bit farther away from I-5 than we thought, but would recommend for the value.

The Best Western Northwind was clean, affordable, nicely decorated, and had all the comforts one would expect for business travel. My room was quiet. Laundry and a fitness room were nice to have access to. Breakfast was good, though I'd suggest a scramble instead of the preformed egg patties. Overall, very good.

    « Best western lovers! »

We were booked at a best western in Portland and shortly before arriving came across a review stating 3 cars had been broken into in one night, in early July. We cancelled and I will say they were gracious regarding canceling even though it was a little past 4. We found the best western in Tigard and so glad we did. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed our stay and the price was about $50 dollars less for the suite, than the tiny room we spent the night in, in Medford at a comfort inn.

    5
    « Excellent value »

A two-night stop in Portland during a family vacation. Very good breakfast offering. Since the Northwind is a bit far from central Portland and rush-hour congestion is a considerable problem for most arteries going to and from downtown with the prevailing work-day traffic, we changed our planned excursions to avoid the rush-hour crush.

    5
    « Enjoyed stay »

We were in the area for a family reunion and enjoyed a very pleasant experience at the Best Western Plus Woodwind Inn. The staff was very helpful and accommodating from our first phone call to make reservations through check out. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good (on par with what we typically experience), although a couple of items weren't ready on time - a minor distraction for an otherwise wonderful stay.

    5
    « Super, great stay »

We received a warm welcome at check-in. Throughout our entire stay all the staff we met were very friendly. Hotel looks luxurious and is nicely decorated. Breakfast is OK but there wasn't much space (tables were taken)

    « Best Western Tigard »

Clean hotel, not worn down. Our specific room had a musty smell, but others in our group had no such smell. Located on a busy street but no road noise heard from back where we were located. Staff not overly friendly but efficient.

« Awesome huge family suites »

We stayed at this place during the 4th July long weekend (2nd July - 4th July). We had the 2 bedroom family suite to us. The rooms were very big with 3 beds. The bathroom was huge with nice toiletries. The hotel does have a nice swimming pool but we did not get time to use it. The best part of the stay was free breakfast. We really enjoyed the delicacies. I can vouch for the decaf coffee :) Parking was plenty and available. The place is on the highway but our room had very less noise.

« Very nice - great place to stay to avoid the southbound traffic nightmare into Portland! »

My 'usual' Best Western in the Portland area was not available so I booked here and was not disappointed. I have found that it is much easier to stay south of the city than north and this was easy to get to. It's on a very busy street but it's still easy to get in and out of the property, especially once you actually find the entrance and I did not notice any road noise. The only minor down sides....the wifi is a bit spotty and they have two different passwords depending on the time of day and the breakfast. They have a nice variety overall except the eggs. Oh my! I am not quite sure what it is that is served, but they appear to be some kind of hockey pucked (disc) shaped, rubbery things. I tried them on day one and decided that IF they were ever real eggs all the taste and nutrition had been removed. Stick with the other offerings. The staff are wonderful!

    4
    « Very comfortable »

Staff was nice & helpful. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Pool and exercise room were nice. Complementary breakfast was stocked well. Seemed to be short staffed during our stay, both at check in and check out there was no one at the desk because they were away helping other guests. Only thing about the room that was not comfortable were the pillows due to them being square. Kids had fun in the pool but the pool temperature was way too hot for me, almost like a jacuzzi before it is turned on.

    5
« Very good hotel, good value »

For those unfamiliar with the Portland area and its traffic, finding the property was tricky. And once there, the parking was cramped (mid-July). But the amenities far outweigh that. Comfortable, quiet rooms for a reasonable price. Very friendly and helpful staff across the board. Highly recommend it.

    « Outstanding hotel! »

This hotel is the gold standard for Best Western Plus. The rooms were spacious, modern, and comfortable. Greg Martin, the manager who checked us in, provided the best customer service I have ever encountered ANYWHERE. We look forward to our next visit to this fine hotel.

« Quiet, Clean, Helpful Staff »

Ask for a room facing the back parking lot or the North side of the property. Have been staying at this hotel twice a year for over ten years, and have experienced ONLY a couple of issues in all that time. Fun year round pool, good healthy satisfying breakfasts, and clean property throughout. Only negatives are the absence of an ice maker on the 2nd Floor. 1st and 3rd Floors have ice makers. Sheets and pillowcases should be replaced entirely every third night, at minimum, when staying for more than 4 days Lastly, rather than washing out the cups and glasses they should be replaced with clean ones each day.

    4
« Best Western Plus Northwind Inn & Suites »

Hotel was quiet and no problems experienced during stay. A bit distant from downtown Portland, but still easy to access shopping and other things. There are several nearby restaurants/pubs for breakfast or drinks with Pub Fare. Hotel staff was always friendly and helpful. King beds are much more comfortable than the Queen's...

    3
    « Ok stay »

The room was ok, until we tried to use a plug in behind couch. We told the front desk an they said they would take care of it. Breakfast was good, was surprised they had no milk. Coffee was good. Checking in was easy guy was really nice. Checking out was easy also.

We spent 3 nights at the Northwind Inn while vacationing. We were very impressed with the condition of the hotel, the friendliness of all of the staff (not just one), and the complimentary breakfast. « Do not stay in this hotel »

We checked in late and were impressed by the new BW logo, used to be blue, now golden orange. The room we were given was so dirty, the drapes also dirty. We called the reception and asked to move to one on the same floor, but he said only second floor available. It was too late and some were already in pyjamas, some taking shower. We have taken pictures of the room. I stayed at may BW, a BW PLUS should be a lot better than this. The worst part is the restaurant staff. They will not respond when asked to fill hot water. They asked us to clean the table and pointed to us that there is a sign on the wall. One of us (4) forgot to clean 1 plate and 1 cup. I don't think they should ask the guest to clean when they were hired to take care of us.

    4
    « Great Breakfast-Great Price-OK Room »

We stayed here for 2 nights. The location worked out great for our trip plans. The breakfast was very well stocked with eggs, sausage, waffles, along with the usual carb overload. The coffee was very good. Staff was friendly and our check in and check out was super fast and easy. The bed was OK, not great for my back. The bedding was clean and good quality. The room was clean except for the carpet. There were spots and it was hard to understand why the carpet was not cleaned when the rest of the room was clean. A large supple of outlets in the room was very helpful. Overall we were pleased with the room and the price. I would have liked a better mattress and a cleaner carpet. I would stay here again in spite of the slight negatives.

    5
    « A true gem of a hotel. »

This is my go to hotel. It is truly a remarkable hotel in the fact the people that work there are all so kind and professional in their jobs. The hotel is a shining example of the Best Western product line. The rooms are always are standard of cleanliness and everything works like it should. The furnishings are updated and the room is always presented well. The bed is always comfortable with plenty of "just right" pillows. The only problem is anyone that stays there will want to come back so this hotel often is full most of the time and if you are planning a stay do book ahead so you want be disappointed,

    2
    « Poor Value »

Worst value in our entire trip. Hotel had a sickly sweet smell in the hallway and room. Room was dusty and the fridge was dirty. Found left over food in it. Bathroom fan was noisy and we could hear the bathroom fans from adjoining rooms.

Excellent accommodations. Great value for the money. Will stay here whenever we are in Portland. The staff was always helpful and ready to answer questions at any time. « No view »

We arrived to a large room with 3 queen beds for our family of six. It was very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was the view out of our window. It was the top of a roof with several small satellite/cable discs (not sure what to call them). I appreciate being able to open my window and see some trees or at least the area we are in. At night there was quite a bit of noise as the rain was hitting something. Brought earplugs! The breakfast could have used some gluten free options. However, few if any hotels give attention to this! There are many people who sensitive or allergic to gluten. I think it would be a bonus. The service of the staff was good, professional and friendly. Breakfast area is a bit cramped, as I felt rushed to leave in order to provide seating. So I'm being honest but overall it's a decent hotel.

This is a very clean and spacious facility that is also fairly priced. Staff at this hotel are highly dedicated and put guest satisfaction over and above everything else. They appear to love their jobs. Will stay here again.

« Great Stay Extremely quiet rooms »

Enjoyed our stay with our extended family for one night. All three rooms we had we could not hear anything between walls, floor, or Ceiling.(We were on the 2nd floor) Road noise for those of us that had rooms on that side was all that was heard. Air/Heating unit was very quiet. Pool was very warm. Almost too warm for my liking but the kids loved it. Breakfast has lots of lactose, and gluten free items. (I didn't require them, but it was very evident by the labeling of things) Only thing that was an issue, the hotel staff would not let our family put tables together so we could all eat as a family. Rooms very clean, spacious, comfortable, updated and very affordable. Parking spaces are narrower than my liking especially in the front. (Drove a full size truck). If hotel is full, it may be difficult to park a larger vehicle. Majority of parking is in the back of the hotel. I would stay again. About a 20 Minute trip to the Oregon Zoo from this property.

« Great place to stay while in town for a wedding »

This was a great hotel to stay at while visiting Tigard for a family wedding. The front desk help was friendly and helped us get extra bedding for our extra guest. Our ground floor room was quiet and clean and everything was in good working order. There was a tasty full breakfast buffet that was different each day. The only drawback was a super-busy dining room on the second day; we had to take our food to our room to eat it because all the tables were busy.

    « Excellent!! »

I have zero complaints! Most hotels I usually stay at are either really expensive or dirty. This hotel was convenient, SPOTLESS, comfortable and quiet! The pool was great, too...clean and clear AND warm! This will be our go-to hotel for stays in Portland from now on...

    « Amazing first impression »

This is a very warm and comfortable place to stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the kind, friendly and sensitive attitude of Greg topped the end of a long days travel perfectly. Andrew also did an excellent job in making sure are needs were met by putting in a handicap chair in the shower for my mother. This is a very nice place to stays I would highly recommend staying here. The rooms are up to date and modern, it's obvious that management pay close attention to detail.

We've used this hotel for our family reunion several years running. The appearance, comfort of beds, cleanliness, professionalism and friendliness of staff and the great breakfast offered combined with the value makes it so we wouldn't want to try anyplace else.

    « TOP NOTCH »

We were completely thrilled with this hotel. Actually took pics of the room, it was so nice! Leather headboards, mints on our pillows, great pillows, chilled mini-fridge, nice big flat screen, AC unit was perfect, shower was awesome, tasty coffee, we could not have been happier with this experience!

« Good place to stay »

The room was very clean. All the drains worked absolutely. The microwave and refrigerator were clean and worked well. The bed and pillows were of high quality and very comfortable. I was not at all familiar the area of its location. Had I not had a gps coming and going would have been difficult. There was food and shopping within a short walking distance, Some of it was across the four lane Pacific Hy. The intersection lights are not pedestrian friendly. The breakfast was processed food and better than nothing. The service person was very nice and she presented herself well. I was impressed with how clean the room and bathroom was. It was just a pleasant experience. The grounds looked good and the noise levels were minimal. The discounted rate really gave me a feeling that I was getting a really good value for the dollars.

This is a nice property. It has changed to a BW Plus and raised the price. Still pretty much the same amenities. Good breakfast and the dining area is really kept clean. Great coffee. Front desk staff is always courteous and friendly. We are welcomed back as returning guests and always invited to return.

The room was clean and good size, bathroom was a little small, and sink space is in main room. The bed was really comfortable and I felt safe there. Staff was really friendly. I know we slept in, but when we went to eat breakfast they were out of everything but cereal......

« Great place to stay in Portland area »

We stay at this hotel whenever we stay in the Portland area. The hotel staff and amenities are excellent! They serve a full line breakfast, so we don't have to take extra time to plan on stopping to pick up something to eat! The have coffee machines in the room that brew one cup, which is just right for us. They also have pumps in the shower with soap, shampoo and conditioner, so I don't have to pack these items.

« Stay here when visiting in Oregon »

I like the hotel because it is very convenient for my travel needs and the check in and check out are very easy. It is also easy to book with Best Western on line and to use the direct call to them to book a room and answer any questions and make to trip work out for you.

This is a beautiful property. Very clean. Super nice, helpful staff. Beautifully appointed rooms, good working wireless Internet, The beds are a bit hard for our taste, breakfast has good choices but would rate the quality as just OK. Coffee is fabulous.

« Great room and location, but service lacking »

We stayed here on a visit to see our son and his wife who lived nearby in Beaverton. We've stayed at 5 different Best Western Plus hotels in the past year, and like the brand, even though we don't stay enough total annual nights to qualify for rewards (not a problem for us). This hotel is in a good location, easy to find, and on check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to see what a really nice room we had. We had reserved the room with in-room hot tub, and this was the nicest room we've seen in a Best Western. The room was clean, big, very nicely done, and appears to have been updated recently. So no problems at all with the room itself. The troubles for us began at check-in (on a Friday evening) when we asked about the breakfast offered in the mornings. We had a race scheduled for the next morning (Battlefrog Portland, you'd love it if you're into obstacle course races) and hoped to be able to grab a quick breakfast before heading out. We asked the front desk what time the breakfast was served and were told 6:00-9:00 AM. I didn't hear him (my wife did), so I asked again, and we were definitely told 6:00-9:00 AM. When we got up the next morning, and went to eat at 6:30, the doors to the breakfast area were locked. No signage indicating why. We went to the front desk, no one there, but a sign indicated that he was 'preparing coffee' for breakfast and to knock on the breakfast room doors if needed. So we did. The guy came out, looking annoyed that we were interrupting him, and when we told him we thought the breakfast was served from 6:00-9:00, he said, "well yes, it's served from 6:00-9:00 during the week, but on weekends it's served from 7:00-10:00." Great, good to know. Luckily we had time to wait and eat right at 7:00 and still make our race start time. But to be given the wrong time the night before (twice) was ridiculously annoying. So, back to the evening before, after we'd gotten settled in and and were winding down, we wanted to watch TV. However, we couldn't get the closed captioning to come on. I'm hard of hearing, so that's kind of a big deal to me. We didn't want to bother anyone at the time, had an early morning wake-up coming up, so we just let that slide that night. When we were talking to "annoyed guy who was supposed to be at the front desk, but was busy making coffee in the breakfast room" before breakfast, we mentioned the TV captioning not working, nor would the 'setup' button on the remote do anything, he asked for our room number, and said he'd have it looked at. After returning from our race later that day, we found that A) the room hadn't been cleaned from the night before, and B) the captioning on the TV still didn't work. We went to the front desk and reported both issues. The guy there said he'd get housekeeping to clean the room, and said to fix the captioning issue to hold down the setup button for 5 seconds until the TV turned off. Then captioning would work. We went back to the room and tried that. Didn't work. We cleaned up, and left for the evening. When we returned, the room still hadn't been cleaned, and we had no clean towels (we had a race earlier, remember, so we had dirtied the towels and hoped for new ones). We went to the front desk, reported that the room still wasn't cleaned, and we needed clean towels. We had to ask twice to get clean towels, and the front desk guy had to go back to housekeeping to get them. So yay, clean towels, but room was never cleaned. Oh, and the captioning on the TV still didn't work (obviously no one had vistied our room the entire day). Since we were leaving the next day (two night stay total), we decided than and there that housekeeping certainly wasn't getting a tip, the staff sucked, and this review wasn't going to be pleasant. The closed captioning was never fixed for our entire stay, the room was never cleaned, and front desk staff seemed more interested in telling us why things weren't done rather than getting things done. I should note that we were more than pleasant in our interactions, except for late Saturday night when we came back to a still dirty room and needed towels. We didn't raise a fuss even then, but were stern about needing clean towels for the next morning. We have no intentions of staying here again, in spite of the hotel's closeness to our destination. In fact we've already made arrangements with another hotel for our return trip in August. While location and condition of the room is what draws people to hotels, it's the people and the service that makes the stay worthwhile. This hotel has a serious need to train their staff in handling guest requests, and taking care of problems quickly and efficiently.

« All around nice place. »

My husband and I have stayed in this hotel before and have always been pleased. I want to say they have recently updated the decor but I can't be one hundred percent sure. When we checked in I could see instantly that the grounds were very well-kept. As I walk into the lobby I was greeted promptly and checking in was a breeze. We got to our room and I was blown away buy how clean, fresh, and well decorated it was. The bed was firm yet comfortable at the same time. They had plenty of pillows so we didn't have to ask for more from the front desk. Also it was nice to have the mini fridge already cool so we could put our leftovers from dinner in there. The AC was functional and quiet which was a plus. Normally I would have given this hotel 5 stars but on the second night we ran into an issue. We came back very late, around 11:30 at night. All I wanted to do was take my shower and go to bed but when I looked into the bathroom I saw that housekeeping had taken every single time we had, even the floor mat and didn't replace them. All we had was a hand towel and a wash cloth. So that was a major inconvenience. We ended up calling the front desk to see if we could get towels from them and they said they would keep some aside for us and we could come down whenever we were ready. Also housekeeping didn't replenish the coffee supplies and instead of making the bed they essentially just straightened it out in a way. Above all I would still highly recommend this hotel. I'm thinking we may have caught housekeeping on a bad day. Looking forward to another stay in August.

« Reasonable price and excellent hotel. »

Excellent hotel located not very far from Portland at a very reasonable price. Comfortable, clean, friendly staff, good breakfast and just about everything we were looking for. I don't have more to say but need to add these words to hit the minimum of 200 words.

Very nice and appealing hotel. Staff goes over and beyond to make a great stay. Rooms nice and very clean. Great tv and wide channel selection. Wifi great. Breakfast was just so so although there were plenty of selections. Nice to go to a hotel where everything works and the staff is great and the hotel is very clean such as this hotel. Definitely will come back for another stay.

« Best stay of the trip! »

Only had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 1 night before catching our flight home. But what a beautiful hotel, clean, modern and a friendly staff. Our room was beautiful, we chose the room with the spa so we were on the 1st floor. It was quite relaxing and the bed was very comfy. Our flight left early on Saturday so we were unable to partake in the continental breakfast. But this is a lovely hotel and I would definitely advise you stay here if you're in the area!!

« Memorial Day Family Visit »

The Northwind Best Western was a last minute selection but it was a first rate choice. We were surprised at how nice the rooms were and the overall quality of service. It was warm on the nights of our stay and I really appreciated the quietness of the HVAC - it did not intrude on sleeping at all.. The only complaints we had were the firmness of the pillows.

    « Overall very good »

Location is a bit off the I-5 aways but we prefer more suburb hotels anyway. Nice lobby, pretty quick service and accommodated our request for top floor away from the elevator. Pleased to see this remodel included laminate wood floors, so nice instead of yucky carpet!! Bed was comfortable. Pretty decently quiet at night. some road noise but run the fan and it should drown it out. Wifi is a little funky....two passwords one for am and one for pm??? strange. For the price paid compared to other Portland hotels, was very good value I think.

    5
« EASY HOTEL TO VA HOSPITAL »

This hotel is right on Hwy 99 and with a minimum of turns we were able to get to the hospital with getting lost. There are closer hotels, but we didn't want to hassle with the traffic. The hotel is convenient from I 5 by way of Hwy 217.

Good location, comfortable beds and clean rooms. Free parking and just overall nice place. Our family enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very quiet and you cannot hear your neighbors. The breakfast items were decent and there is one lady who is always working the breakfasts and is very nice, friendly and loves people.

« GREAT PLACE TO STAY, LOWER PRICE, WORTH THE EXTRA DISTANCE »

We have been traveling for a month and a half staying at quality places, and this is about the best we have found. Spacious, clean, friendly, helpful. You cannot do better, and if it is a bit out of the way, it is worth it I assure you.

« Home Away From Home »

If you want a clean, comfortable place to stay while visiting Tigaard Oregon we suggest The Best Western. The beds are firm, yet comfortable, the staff is awesome, the food ..wonderful. When you think breakfast here think of..Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, mixed fruit, apples, oranges, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuts, gravy, toast, bagels, orange juice, coffee, cereal. The main dish changes daily so you probably would both get the bisquits and graey on the same day as the bacon, egg, hash browns. There is a pool and an exercise room (which we have not used) available. IF you should happen to have a problem, the staff responds promptly (this last time our toilet plugged and there was a satff person at our door to fix it within three mintes!!) . We have never checked out of a hotel as fast as we did this last time. We turned in the keys, said good bye and were on our way out the door. We highly recommend this hotel.

    « Great staff »

I stayed here as a teacher leading a student field trip. The staff was friendly and interested in us. They each asked us about our trip and even researched things we had talked about to let us know more and to show they cared.

« Very clean and an awesome whirlpool tub »

My fiancee and I stayed here after some extensive hiking in the Columbia Gorge. The hotel is very clean and the bed was super comfortable, but the best part was the huge whirlpool tub in the suite. After a couple days hiking we were very sore and the tub helped to melt away the pain in our sore muscles.

We always stay at this hotel when we are in the area. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean. During this stay, the breakfast room staff was quick to replenish the food and the room staff had made our beds and given us new towels during the time we were downstairs for breakfast. The hotel is on a busy street but it is always quiet in the room.

    « Very nice »

    « HORRIBLE! »

Horrible customer service! Cracked sinks, broken soap dispensers "fixed" with towels shoves in the between to hold it up. Lights not working, moldy fruits for breakfast, kitchen staff yelling at guests, uncaring staff. Don't for anything they'll ask you to go to the store at 1230 am to get it rather then having the item you need available ( even basics). Young adults running around yelling and screaming, hopping around at 230 in the morning.

    « Tiny breakfast area »

Very small room where breakfast was serviced, people were forced to take food to their room because there was no where to sit, 4-5 small tables, each with a cpl chairs bumping into each other. Everything else was clean, rooms were updated and front desk service was friendly.

    « Perfect Hotel »

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Northwind Inn and Suites on our way to the Oregon Coast. Everything about this hotel was perfection. The desk receptionist was kind and knowledgeable. Our room was gorgeous and clean. I usually feel the need to re-clean everything the moment I got into the door. I did not have to do this. The beds were comfortable, the internet was fast. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip west.

    « Great stay »

I traveled to the Portland area to attend my mothers 100th birthday. This facility was the closest to the retirement center that she lives in; I could see the hotel from her window. As a member of an international civic group I spend many nights in a hotel. I feel I'm qualified to say that this hotel is in the top 5% of the hotels I have stayed in. The facility is in excellent condition and every staff member I encountered were courteous and helpful.

Hardly anyone here when we spent a recent Sunday night. Very nice room with great furnishings. Upscale looking interiors. Decent breakfast. « Offer amenities that are working »

For the area the price could be comparable to other room rates. The tax is higher in this area and any area around Portland is accessible. We went to another hotel that was cheaper overall and 20 minutes away. Closer to our basketball tournament.

This was an excellent hotel. The decor very attractive, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast had good variety. I would stay again and recommend this facility. My husband and I flew into PDX to visit my mother for her birthday. She did not have enough room for us and we found a place closest to her to overnight. The Northwind BW was an excellent choice. It's not just a clean place but one that is well taken care of and managed and manages to stay in tune with technology and comfort. We only stayed one night but would not hesitate to stay there again!

The value for the family suite was affordable. We had a great party and the people who stayed the night had a great experience. I paid for the room but did not stay the night. Hotel was very nice and front clerk very friendly and helpful. We were dropping our daughter off at school in Newberg and had stayed at the Best Western in Newberg, but it wasn't any where as nice or the people as friendly as the Tigard, Best Western just a few minutes from Newberg. Thank you for providing a clean and friendly place. Enjoyed the warm pool and hot tub indoors. I do however perfer the paper coffee cups to the regular coffee mugs and cups. Its a nice touch but when traveling sanitary wins over homeyness. There is just too many nasty stories about how the cups and glasses are cleaned by same rags as the toilets and such. I know that probably does not happen here but just the fear is enough for a heavy traveler like me. =)

I stay here every Christmas for a few nights. The hotel has always been nice and is a bit sharper and cleaner and newer these days. The Breakfast is mostly carbs, but it's free, and the coffee isn't terrible. SO that's not the worst way to start your day. If you're looking for a traditional american breakfast, you'll be disappointed, but it you just want some toast or a waffle or cereal, you'll be fine.

Just want to give a thumbs up.. Accommodations were nice. The breakfast was lacking a bit. Could have been open longer the 9 am being a holiday week and with the amount of guest, food should have been replenished quicker. The staff was friendly and helpful. All in all good stay.

Reasonably priced hotel with all the amenities and breakfast and coffee and great location. Indoor pool with hot tub, 3 floors, all quiet. Large HDTV with great cable package. Mattresses are a little stiff, but very clean with loads of pillows. If you like skinny pillows, bring your own. Free internet. Close to shopping. Pets allowed.

Room was clean and comfortable. Wish the hotel had more handicapped friendly rooms. Only negative experience was with other guests in the breakfast room. Young couple (brother-sister) obviously came in right from their bed and barefoot. Mentioned this to staff, but they were not asked to leave until properly dressed.

« Nice hotel within an easy commute of Portland »

Hotel was roughly a 20 minute or so drive south of Portland. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was pretty good, I'd say a continental plus style. Stayed here one night then returned for an additional two nights on the same trip.

« Best Western has been my choice lately »

Best Western has been my default the past few years and they haven't let me down yet. My stay here was no exception. Clean and convenient. I was a little irritated that I am a rewards member and I cant walk in and get a good deal. I have to sit in their lobby and book online through Hotels.com to get a decent price then check in. I am certain this makes sense to someone smarter then me but I find it very irritating. I thought the breakfast was a decent selection and the staff was friendly and helpful. I always demand lots of outlets and decent free wifi which this place has.

« Good place to relax »

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. There were good and not so good points about it. Good-the room was spacious with a great shower and comfortable bed and no problems with internet. Not so good-pillows were on the hard side (I had brought two from home to use). Breakfast was a selection of eggs, whole and cut fruit, yogurt, waffles, muffins & pastries, toast, cold and hot cereal, juice & coffee. With daily specials of different sausages. The hot cereal tasted terrible, like it had been really watered down when mixed up. I recently had to go gluten and dairy free and there were no options for me except the fruit and eggs. The motel could have at least offered a gluten free bread or cold cereal, and either almond or coconut milk. Thankfully there was a fridge in our room so I bought gluten free waffles and took some down to the breakfast room every day to eat. We used the swimming pool and hot tub once. The jets on the hot tub were terrible with hardly any pressure. We mentioned it to the desk and all they said was they would look into it. Overall, I would stay here again and hopefully they will fix the hot tub.

« Best hotel in the area! »

Excellent experience. Staff at all level performed better than at many more expensive hotels. The wifi connection was simple and fast allowing me do conduct my business without interruption while traveling. My highest compliments for the manager, he obviously keeps his team motivated, happy-looking, and in general a very well run operation.

« So much for a good price! »

This hotel has it all! The room and its amenities are laid out logically, and little touches make the difference: classical music and mints on arrival, a beautifully made bed, larger wall dispensers for nice-smelling products (less plastic waste), a large vanity (outside the steamy bathroom) with incandescent lights for makeup, many other light sources around room with fluorescent bulbs to save energy, a wall fan that stays on instead of clicking on and off all night (thus waking you up 35 times), multiple conveniently placed outlets for devices (no unplugging the lamp to plug in your phone or laptop), lots of storage space, clean, great price for what you get, etc. The staff are incredibly professional and courteous, and the hotel decor is warm and nicely modern. We were thrilled!! Pus the breakfast was better than most continental breakfasts!

    « Terrible Breakfast-Won't stay here again »

Only 6 tables for all the guests, cold biscuits, stale coffee cakes, powdered eggs (tasted like it anyway), fresh fruit under-ripe and the air conditioning blowing on every table so warm food is cold before it can be eaten.

Staff is very welcoming and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable. The location is nice, quiet and safe especially if you are traveling alone. Grocery store and pharmacy across the street just in case you forgot something.

    « Different! »

We liked this hotel that sounds like a chain but has a local owner touch ti it. Comfortable: absolutely. A varied breakfast bar not to be missed. Gel, shampoo and conditioners are supplied by wall-hung dispensers, So if you are concerned about what touches your skin, take those little bottles you removed from other hotels. A good place for a stay in Tigard/Newberg/Sherwood.

« Top choice for area »

I travel frequently on business and this is one of the best places I stay in Oregon. The rooms are spacious, pleasant, and well laid out. The L-shaped desk and chair is perfect for business and their are 2 outlets on desk and each night stand. The bed is high and comfortable. The staff are always helpful and the model of courtesy. Breakfast is standard fare with good variety and average quality. Get there early if you want a table as the room is small.

Great location to Hwy. 99W. Extremely comfortable rooms. Breakfast fare varied and delicious. I have family that live nearby and it is most easy to get to their residences. I have stayed at this hotel many times, and it has always been a pleasurable experience.

« Close to perfect, but.... »

So much to like and love about this place. I stayed one night to visit with a friend who was passing through Portland. Positives: The rooms definitely punch above their weight class. Absolutely beautiful, looking like they belong in a higher-level hotel. Impeccable cleanliness. Room is above average size. Huge TV if that is important to you. Incredibly comfortable bed. I slept wonderfully - I heard not a single sound outside my room. Breakfast was fine. Nothing spectacular, but nothing to get excited about. I didn't use the fitness center, but peeked in and it looked fine. Negatives: Hot tub was broken during my visit. A huge bummer since for me hot tubs are a big reason I enjoy staying at a hotel. The carpet outside 2 rooms was soaked the entire 20 hours I was checked in, like someone had thrown many gallons of water on it. Staff (including the operations manager) was aware, but seemed very unconcerned about it. Attention management - if you make me think you don't care about that, I wonder what else you don't care about. Why do hotels have to have volume on TV going in breakfast areas? We are bombarded with TV so much, is some peace and quiet at breakfast too much to ask? Turn on the closed captioning for those who want to watch. Location: Shame on me for not looking more closely at a map. I was disappointed with the hotel's location. Surrounded by generic shopping strips, and near nothing real. Portland is 20+ minutes away. Traffic on Monday outside the hotel was surprisingly heavy and slow, even at 10am. But overall, if the location works for you, this is a great choice.

« Issues, but helpful staff »

Upon arrival at our room, we found trash in trashcans. Front desk clerk was very apologetic and took care of it. Later we discovered we didn't have pad and pen or plastic water cups - it was like the room didn't get the complete treatment after last occupant. He was also very helpful and personable at other times. Had an ant invasion and although maintenance came and sprayed, the spray nearly asphyxiated us and we had to leave the bathroom vent and a small travel fan on while we vacated for a few hours. No outlet in bathroom made it very dark at night when we couldn't accommodate the night light we travel with -- a necessity for a handicapped person (no one wants to turn on a bright overhead light in the middle of the night!) Poor design of accessibility in shower. We found the breakfast a little sparse in comparison to other BWPs, but it was adequate. Plugs provided on nightstands / lamps were very helpful.

« great place to stay »

This is our favorite place to stay when visiting the Portland and/or Vancouver areas. The rooms are attractive and clean. They provide dispensers (with good quality products) in the shower and sink areas with soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of sitting space/furniture. They also provide a free hot breakfast that is tasty and very convenient. The pool is nice and clean and the treadmill works smoothly. The employees are all very pleasant and helpful!

    « Great Vacation Location »

This hotel is in a great location. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, many offer gluten free choices in case you require only certain foods. There are many shopping centers/mall within minutes of this hotel. Downtown Portland is only 15-20 away. I will be returning to this area again for vacation and will definitely stay at this property again.

« Comfortable, clean with marvelous surprises! »

Chocolates, by the bed, lovely décor, real coffee mugs, towels formed into swans...even the parking lot was laid out thoughtfully! Staff was great, helpful and friendly. The location could not have been more convenient for my business. I slept like a rock. Would definitely recommend to anyone, and would stay there again happily.
