« Good location, great breakfast »

Perfect location in the center of Svendborg. It's my second visit but this time, we got a room in another end, perhaps a never part of the building. However there was a lot of noise from other rooms and from the hall, so be aware of that. Bed was way to soft and pillows to high, so really didn't got much sleep. But service is good and breakfast outstanding.

« Great hotel, good food and great service »

A large hotel in the center of town, everything is in walking distance. Large and clean rooms. Large lobby bar/cafe. Great lunch and breakfast, very good food. Excellent place for a conference or large meeting.

« A Perfect Base for Touring Fyn Highlights »

My wife and I were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary by spending ten days in Denmark?after four days in Copenhagen, we rented a car and spent the next three days in Fyn, focusing on castles and beauty. Since Svendborg seemed to be a good base, we tracked the TA reviews, and elected to stay here at the Best Western, aka Hotel Svendborg. We quickly figured that there are not that many American tourists passing through here, as suggested by the very infrequent TA reviews in this area of Denmark?truly a shame, since this is a beautiful part of the world. When we drove into town, thank goodness for our GPS, we could not figure out where to park to address registration and luggage unloading. My wife ended up stopping in the circular public parking area in front of the hotel while I ran in and asked the front desk staff how this was going to work. The hotel DOES have parking, there are three parking areas on the street behind the hotel on Kedelsmedestraede, one of which is a two level option (street level and a narrow steep down ramp to a below ground parking area, and two others further down the street. We found plenty of spots in the underground area, which does access an elevator leading to reception. The front desk provides a slip of paper to put in the front of the dashboard to allow for the free parking. The front desk was consistently friendly and helpful, including recommendations for travel routes as well as making change. Our room was in the new wing, a long walk from the two elevators (one faces the outdoors a la Hilton, the other an interior one). The double bed was comfortable, the bathroom adequately spacious with plenty of shelf space, a walk in shower, which afforded adequate power as well as nice temperature. We arrived in the midst of an amazing hot spell, despite it being September, so we definitely had the fan running. The hotel breakfasts are as comprehensive as others have noted, including several cheeses, scrambled eggs, streaky bacon, sausage, several types of breads and rolls and of course Danish?.a cappuccino maker for those who want something beyond basic coffee?several Fyn specialties (pastry and cheese), smoked salmon, fruit bowl, on and on. We ate so much at breakfast, all so delicious, that we ended up needing little for lunch. We did dine once at the hotel restaurant, on our first night, separately reviewed, was terrible. As we did not want to walk far at the end of touring each day, we took the five minute walk to Under Uit for dinner the final two nights, that was great, also separately reviewed. The ferry to Aero is a short seven minute walk downhill, plus on one day we drove to Nyborg Slot and Valdemars Slot, enjoyed both, separately reviewed. The bar staff was very accommodating in providing us ice for the room?not only because everyone from US loves ice, but because it was truly VERY unseasonably warm during our early September visit. We are sorry to note that many visitors to Denmark apparently overlook this wonderful area of Denmark, we first learned of it per a Wall Street Journal article a year ago?it is gorgeous, the people are very very nice (their English is not as proficient as among the Danes in Copenhagen, but we communicated sufficiently well), and there is much to see. As such, if you are willing to make the very rewarding effort to visit Fyn, we endorse the star rating of the hotel posted at the hotel entrance. It is not a luxury hotel by any means, but meets most of one's travel needs adequately.

« Yhe hotel looks and feels a bit tired. »

Had an overall good stay at the hotel but it feels like a hotel that have seem better days. If you are looking for a gym, you need to go outside the hotel and the gym a very little. food is average but the service is good and with a lot of smiles and jokes.

« Business stay in Hotel Svendborg. »

This is a nice (business) hotel, beds are a little on the soft side. The reception is always very friendly and breakfast very good and a big assortment to choose from. There is a small gym and possible to make use of swimming pool next door. Bikes can be used from the hotel if required.

« A comfortable stay in the center of town. »

We like the location, the convenience of the room, comfort of the bed and most of all the huge spread offered at breakfast each morning. Not only was there bread and rolls, but also pastry. I also liked the ?ginger shots? offered. When we stayed it was full because of a large meeting in session. The hotel seemed to handle it effortlessly.

    « Comfortable and Central »

We spent a couple of nights here with friends while we toured the area. The hotel has free parking in the back, free WiFi and we had breakfast included. Last first: the breakfast was excellent. Tons of choices, fast efficient service and great quality food made this a fantastic start to the morning. The rooms are clean and well equipped and the staff is friendly, English speaking and knowledgeable of the area and attractions. Guys - this may sound weird, but don't miss a trip to the Gentlemen's facility downstairs. We got a chuckle out of the "decor." I'd recommend this to friends if they were going to this area.

    « A nice hotel good location »

The hotel is well located on the ferry harbour that take people to the Islands and within easy reach of restaurants and shops. The decor is of interesting antiquity with simple rooms on a main street with rooms in a building across the road. Very friendly staff and attentive service which is not always the delivery approach of Danish service culture. nice breakfast. The stay was really pleasant and would not hesitate to revisit and use as a base to explore quaint Svendborg with many excellent restaurants and good shopping facilities.

    « Great breakfast »

Decent hotel, average rooms. The breakfast however is excellent, with many different things to choose from, from yoghurt, to bread, cheese, meat and pastries. The staff is friendly. The hotel is close to the station and close to many restaurants. No airco in the hotel, so on the higher floors, rooms can be quite hot.

« Excellent Service; Very Good Room »

3 nights in Svendborg in 1 bedroom suite with pkg. that included bikes. Very efficient and helpful front desk. Bed and bathroom very comfortable. Weekend street noise can last into the 'wee' hours, though. When encountering a 'plumbing issue' in our bathroom --that I had inadvertently caused-- : no problem, graciously handled by front desk and fixed within hours. Very impressive breakfast buffet surpassed only by more impressive (though pricey) dinner buffet. (As one Dane later joked to us: "there's no word in Danish for 'cheap'. "). Maitre d' at dinner, Christian, was at once engaging and very helpful. Only negative: bikes --while I had expected their 7-gear 'city bikes' -- could have been better maintained.

    « Nice quiet rooms »

Good service, friendly staff, nice size of room (had a lux) and hotel is very quiet. Breakfast with local dishes and a really nice buffet. Only minor thing, the is not very good and the breakfast room is not very cozy.

    3
    « Free Parking »

It seems that every time we get a good rate on a hotel the room location is always in a far away room. It is hard to tow your heavy luggage to the last room on the floor. The room was right off the street and you could hear people partying below. Also all over Denmark are seagulls even inland. They wake you up all hours of the night since we have to leave the windows open with no air conditioning. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Denmark. Lots of choices.

« Very nice hotel, excellent food and service! »

I went with my two children to Hotel Svendborg for a weekend course. The hotel is situated in the middle of Svendborg in a very nice area. The hotel is beautiful and modern and the meeting facilities are very good. The room was nice and bright and there was a tub and a shower in the large bathroom (which had heated floors). The hotel kitchen made excellent food for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast consisted of any foods imaginable, they had specialty cheeses, dry cured ham, locally harvested honey, homemade ginger shots, eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, countless types of homebaked goods, cereals, etc. It was SO good! Lunch and dinner was just as good! I truly wish that I could go back again next weekend and I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

« Very good to be Danish »

Really service there is nice and hotel have a great bar/restaurant service for this area. The unique problem was that temperature was high and it don't permit to sleep well and as all Danish hotel bed cover is small but it is part of standard in Denmark.

« Bit tired but good value and location and breakfast »

Basic lodging but nice location with free parking and extensive and good breakfast buffet. We stayed here to pick up the car ferry next morning to Aero Island. We found Svendborg more interesting that our tour guides said it was. Lots of pedestrian shopping streets and interesting working waterfront.

« Cozy and functional Danish hotel - friendly staff »

It was a pleasant experience. Check in very smooth, little forms to fill out as in other hotels, quick overview of hotel at reception. Rooms are clean and functional. Nice view seeing part of the harbor. As it was raining there was little I could see, but nice feeling. Internet works straight after entering given password. Breakfast had local corner and apart from that all what you may need.

    « Typical Business Hotel »

The hotel is at a prime location in the town of Svendborg and shows all prints of a typical business hotel. The rooms appeared to be of aged and while the facility was sufficient some upgrade should come soon. The mattresses were very soft which may not be everyone's liking. All in all you get everything you need for a stay without much to ask for. What stood out was the breakfast with a huge variety of different items. Most notably freshly brewed coffee, cappuccino etc. In addition to the standard coffee and teas served. Overall there's neither any bad comments nor any exceptional positive remarks other than the breakfast. What makes the difference in every place is the willingness of employees to attend to special request and we were pleased to have a front desk staff requesting in a restaurant for a late dinner due to our late arrival.

« Solid place to stay »

All the boxes ticked for the travelling business person; the service technician; the local conference; but it remained a friendly average experience. Hard to put words on, but "it" wasn't quite there. The room was huge but barely furnished, the bathtub clean (I prefer a shower), wifi worked. All basically worked. The hotel even has added a few Danish design icon chairs and lamps in the reception, but it did seem a bit sporadic and without the overall plan. I DID like the breakfast touch where the standard offer was topped nicely with local specialities. That was a nice touch and a theme this hotel should implement all over with smashing result I am sure. The fourth bullet is not far away, but it issn't quite there - if you ask me.

« Best Stay at Best Western »

I stayed at this hotel overnight on my way to a wedding. The hotel seems centrally located near the shopping area so you are not short of options if you want to jump right into the town and walk around. The service from the front end staff was top notch. It was also quite quick and have no complaints about reception. Dinner at the hotel was also great with friendly and receptive staff. It deserves special mentioning since the menu did not contain food that I could eat (for health reasons) but the kitchen was quite accommodating in providing a meal that suited my needs and my palettes. Thank you. The rooms were large enough for my needs and Clean. The bathrooms (which I am finicky about) were also clean. You get items and a kettle to make l coffee and a fridge with a mini bar you can drink to your heart's content. The beds were comfortable and provided a good night sleep. Wifi works well for the most part. A 50 inch flat screen Tv makes its presence felt and the door/window lets in natural light. As the hotel seems to be in the Centre of town you should expect noises that cities make at 7am. If you are a light sleeper manage your expectations or ask for a room away from the main roads. The only downside is that the bedroom lights seem dim. No reading will be taking place in that lighting condition. In all it was a brief but lovely stay at this hotel.

    « Another great visit »

In July 2014 we stayed one night and were impressed at that time so we recently spent a couple of days at this hotel in Svendborg. We stayed in a spacious well lit room overlooking the main downtown pedestrian street. What we love about Denmark is that many hotels & motels serve a no charge breakfast. The breakfast at BW Hotel Svendborg is absolutely delicious with a wide range of offerings. The staff are always there to offer any help with a warm caring smile. We will always stay here when we visit Svendborg.

« Excellent Hotel and Location »

Great service from beginning to end. We were a party of 4 travelling around Denmark July 2014. The hotel was able accommodate us with 2 rooms without reservations. Rooms were modern and clean. Breakfast was beyond our expectations, especially being a Best Western hotel. My Danish mother-in-law was reluctant to stay there initially. They have come back to Denmark almost every summer for the past few years and normally stay in B & B's. They were also of the same opinion, great value for the money. We loved Svendborg, walking through the quaint streets that have a mixture of old and new buildings. We are returning to Denmark this fall and hope to return. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

« Great location, free parking, spacious and comfortable room, and OUTSTANDING free breakfast »

My review title says it all. This hotel is in the heart of the walking area, has free parking for guests and it's an easy walk to the ferry terminal if you're making a day trip to Aeroskobing (well worth it!). We were in room 104 which overlooked the walking area. It was spacious and light and the bed was comfortable. What we particularly liked about the room is that there is a door from the bed room to the vestibule, and another into the bathroom, so it's super quiet if one person is an early riser and can shower without disturbing the other. From the looks of it, the room has had a renovation, as the tiles in the bathroom were very nice and not the usual Best Western (in the US) variety. It's couldn't be more convenient to Svendborg's quaint cobblestone shopping area and restaurants. Free wifi. The free breakfast at the hotel was terrific. Very extensive. Again, if you're used to the US Best Western breakfasts, this will be a most pleasant surprise.

    « Mostly good »

Nice rooms, good breakfast, attentive staff, good reception. So what could be wrong? Breakfast ends at 9.30, I was told, which is far too early. I am not keen on an outside lift with my acrophobia, and this year the other lift stopped at midnight. Fortunately I was only on the second floor. The main problem, it seems to me, is that they are awful at replenishing bedroom supplies. I had only tea bag of real tea (as against fancy muck). Once used it was never replaced in 11 days! There was hot chocolate in the room. That was replaced on 7 of 11 days. The sheets got dirty - and stayed that way! The flannels in the bathroom, when placed on the floor, were removed. On four occasions they were not replaced. Sorry, folks, it is time housekeeping got a kick up the backside! I do wish TA had something between average and very good. This hotel is good, not very good. Needed for the app.

« Nice location in Svendborg »

Hotel Svendborg is nice located for exploring the town of Svendborg. Easy acces to the central part of the city and the waterfront is 1 km away from the front door of the hotel. Free parking for hotel guests. Nice and well cleaned rooms.
