« best room with plenty of room »

We stayed 1 night for a short get away. We had room 201 on the corner in the front. Very large and looks like it could accommodate a large party with adjoining room on the side. We love walking to the plaza. Lots of restaurants nearby. Very nice place, front desk very friendly. Dog friendly.

« Pretty good but be upfront on pet policy »

We booked a 1 night stay and brought our dog. The fact it is dog friendly was the reason we stayed here and the location was great, just 1 block to the plaza. The bed was comfortable and we were on the ground floor which made it easy with a dog to take her out. There were a couple of issues, first they gave us a key to room already occupied. We went back and they had already realized their error and gave us a room in the ground floor. This was fine except for the kids running around upstairs for hours which was very loud. Also their pet policy was very strict. Despite allowing pets to stay (for an extra $35 per night) they make you sign an agreement that says you can't leave your pet alone at any time in the room and they threaten to call animal control if the pet is causing any disruption to others! Our dog is very well behaved and we planned to leave her in the room (crated so no risk of damaging the room at all) as we had dinner plans (the whole reason for the trip!) It is a bit unrealistic to say you can't leave the pet at all as you can't take it to the hotel breakfast or any restaurants for dinner. I totally understand that they want to ensure there are no crazy dogs destroying rooms, but they should be clear when you book that pets aren't allowed to be alone at any time. Like I said, it wasn't a major problem for us as we did bring her crate, but I was half expecting a phone call during dinner to demand we come back to the hotel as we left our dog alone!! It sounds like the prices fluctuate a lot but that's to be expected in such a popular location. We paid about $150 for a Saturday night and it was good value for money.

    « Loved! »

Big rooms, fireplace, huge bed! The staff was extremely helpful! Close location to the downtown square. We were able to check in early which was great after a very long drive. Will definitely stay here again!

    « As expected »

This is a very well run and well kept business. It was a comfortable stay with a decent breakfast. Hot tub was also clean and powerful. Staff was on point and location was great for local food and activity.

    5
« Very comfortable rooms, just a little outdated. »

Very spacious and comfortable room! The decor is a little dated. Bathroom is spacious but no place to put your things in the bathroom itself. The fitness center is really small. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

    « Unpleasant experience »

I had an awful experience and didn't get to sleep until 2am. Unbeknownst to me, the window to my room was open when I check in, and I didn't discover it until the middle of the night. So it was very loud because I could hear everyone in the courtyard and hot tub. As well, this meant the heater fan kept coming on trying to keep the room warm. As well, the toilet ran all night. On check out, I wanted to complain and have the room-safe charge removed, but the manager made me too uncomfortable. He couldn't figure things out on the computer, and was very distracted because he said he was training someone else. It was a very unpleasant experience and I will not recommend anyone else use this hotel. It was very expensive and not worth it at all.

    4
    « Great Value »

This is our third visit, and so far the best experience. The room was in better shape than previous rooms--clean, comfortable, very pleasant. It is a 5 minute walk to Sonoma Plaza, where there are many shops and restaurants, as well as a large park and historic buildings. Factoring price and location, this can be a great deal. There are some things that need improving. Breakfast is included, but the hot items could really be better. The wifi was poor--slow and inconsistent--but free. The bathroom area needs updating/remodeling. But on the whole, this is a great place to stay.

« So accommodating and relaxing! »

Even the smallest details were perfect during our stay -- * Quiet, fragrant garden courtyard * Refreshing cucumber water, tea and coffee in the lobby * Ample breakfast buffet included fruit, yogurt, bacon, make-your-own waffle * Immaculate room, comfy beds, romantic fireplace, private patio * Ultimate relaxation by the pool, hot tub and sauna * Carefree walk to The Plaza

    « Great stay »

The hotel is very conveniently located near the Sonoma town square, restaurants, and shopping. Our room was huge and the breakfast room was delightful with a good selection and attentive service. The courtyard was very nice with a pool, large hot tub, and a fire pit.

« Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn Valley of the Moon Suite was a touch of heaven »

The suite we were in had two balconies, a fireplace, a refrigerator with complimentary bottle of wine, a large jetted bathtub, two televisions, a Bose radio and sound system, shower with opposing shower heads, and a quality king-sized bed Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in the area, and will recommend it to our friends and associates.

    « This is a great find! »

Great little find!! Book in advance! This Best Western hotel is located just 2 short blocks from the Historic Square. It is owned by the Krug Family. They also own a sister Best Western property off Dry Creek Rd in Healdsburg. Both have been remodeled/updated. Dry Creek perhaps a bit more. Love the layout of this hotel. It reminds me of Melrose Place with flowers dripping off the second balcony to an open court yard and heated pool below. It has a hottub, steamroom and outdoor fireplace area to enjoy while your back on the property from touring Sonoma. I tend to ask for rooms closer to that area(116, 117, 127, 126) as the place is all suite hotel with a cute little back patio door to access the courtyard without going out your front door. I love that almost all the rooms have a fireplace and certain rooms allow for you to travel with your dog. Huge plus! In the morning they deliver a small bakery basket to your door. Not your type of breakfast? Not to worry, if you prefer it, there's a whole foods across the street and a few places on the square to eat. They offer on site bike rentals, too. Book ahead as this place always sells out.

« Best Best Western Hotel I have stayed in »

We stayed there last month for 3 nights while wine tasting. We had a wonderful suite in the rear of the property. It had a balcony, fire place and Jacuzzi tub. We loved it. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The location was perfect, just steps from the downtown area. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area.

    5
« Central location, no need to drive, walking distance to town and wineries! »

Perfect location for walking to town, wineries and restaurants. Room was very clean and spacious, we had a corner room. CVS and Whole Foods were right across the street for snacks or other necessities. Breakfast room was very sufficient for quick breakfast. Pool, jacuzzi, and fire pits in courtyard.

    3
« Standard Best Western, a little expensive for what you get »

Stayed here for two nights whilst wine tasting in the area. The hotel is laid out a little like a motel with rooms on ground and first floor, arranged in a square. Rooms are clean and decent, spacious, but they feel as you might expect from a Best Western, a little dated. The hotel has a lovely pool with jacuzzi and loungers. Breakfast is basic with machines that self serve you cereal, cakes, bread and pastries. Overall very much an average Best Western, also bear in mind it is a 10 minute drive/20 minute walk from the centre of town.

« Central location, walking distance to Plaza, very clean and comfortable »

Just got back from a trip to Sonoma and a stay at this Best Western. Great location - two blocks to downtown with it's many shops and restaurants. Our room was large, with a fireplace. The bathroom was sparkling clean and the shower was great. Breakfast variety was excellent for a buffet and the staff was very helpful. Coffee to go is a plus! The breakfast room can get crowded so better to eat earlier or later. Whole Foods and CVS are right across the street if you want to pick up snacks, etc. The hotel was also very convenient for our day trips to upper Sonoma and Napa counties. We would stay here again and also recommend to friends.

    « Sanoma »

    « Two Women on a Winery/Hiking Trip to Napa/Sonoma »

Two women on vacation to hike, see wineries and eat at great restaurants stayed a couple nights at the Best Western in Sonoma. Our room with 2 Queen beds was especially roomy with a fireplace and Duraflame log as well as back a terrace looking over the pool. The room had a safe and was supplied with 5 luggage racks? the most I have ever seen in a hotel room no matter how upscale. The location of the hotel is in easy walking distance of the Square, restaurants, and Massage Envy for those who need a massage to help with the hiking. The free breakfast was located in a lovely setting with a terrace and offered hot scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, coffee, tea, etc. Coffee and tea were also provided in the hotel lobby. In addition the hotel offers complimentary yoga by the pool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. The only significant drawback was the weak internet access. Evidently, Best Western's WIFI system requires the user to go to the Best Western WIFI setting with the strongest signal and then to Yahoo or Google to put in the password. However, the nice man at the reception desk failed to tell us about this process. There was info in the room to help us understand what we needed to do, but it took us a while to see it. Our bad on this one. However, even when we completed this process, access to the internet was iffy both on IPhones and on PCs. Cell reception was also not sufficient to connect to the internet. The only other caution was the noise level from other rooms, which disturbed the one of us who is a light sleeper. Otherwise this was a very good Best Western, with a great location, that offered us coupon discounts to some of the local wineries.

« Fabulous elegant affordable choice »

Located 1 walking block to the town square, we were able to walk to restaurants, tastings, and the farmers market on a Tuesday evening. Elegant hot tub under a gazebo, beautiful pool all in a private quiet courtyard, free access to a local fitness center, clean up to date room and very comfortable bed, breakfast- best I have had at a Best Western and I have stayed at 10 this year, I look forward to returning soon

« Great hotel right in the walk-able city center of Sonoma »

Very pleasantly surprised to find a fireplace in our GIANT room. The room was about twice the size that I was expecting, and everything was very well maintained. Great hotel right in the walk-able city center of Sonoma.

    3
    « Good Location »

Although this hotel is in a brilliant location for the main square and a some lovely shops opposite, we found it disappointing. The room was always very dark, furniture dated and dull. The bed however was very comfortable. For us having the breakfast room a little away from the main hotel was not so good, especially if it rained!. The staff were friendly and polite.

    « Excellent value, 5 star experience »

We needed 1 night in the wine country to celebrate an anniversary. I called the Best Western number and asked if they had a room with an in-room jacuzzi in the Napa-Sonoma area and they found us a wonderful room at the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn. We even got a discount for joining BW rewards program. The room was beautifully appointed, fridge, microwave, fireplace, King size bed extra comfy and the large jacuzzi tub. We were in a room over the adjoining convention center, very quiet and lovely. The Boze radio provided dreamy music for us. The hotel is across the street from a Whole Foods Market, which was perfect for a little cheese and wine in front of the fire.

    « Oasis »

The Sonoma Valley Inn is the place to stay in Sonoma . Its close to the town center and restaurants . It has a cozy feel to it and reminds me of the way inns used to be . Its drive up to the door which I prefer . The staff is very friendly and helpful with a smile .

« Great location and price! »

Loved that we could walk to the cute downtown square where all the shops and restaurants are located. You really can't beat this location! Room was spacious and comfortable. Has a wood burning fireplace! Staff was friendly and helpful! Also can't beat free breakfast...was very convenient when we had an early morning tour booked (and by early I mean 10:00am....this is wine country!) Would definitely stay here again!

    « Comfortable stay »

Very well located, only a short walk to the main square in Sonoma. Our room was very clean and comfortable, but our favourite feature was the fireplace in the room which we used every night of our stay. The furniture is a little dated and the lighting a bit dull, but the bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well. We didn't use the pool but other guests did and seemed to enjoy it. The staff were very helpful and gave us lots of recommendations of places to go, and even gave us some coupons for wine tasting. Would happily stay again

« A decent 3 star hotel, close to Sonoma Plaza »

My family of 4 stayed here for 5 days recently. We had a good experience. The little fireplace courtyard is fun to sit in and sip wine and chat, in the evenings. The breakfast in the mornings is well run, well stocked and well managed. Kirsten & Co are going out of their way to do a superb job. The hotel itself looks like it is about 40 years old. Popcorn ceiling gives it away.... :) But the management is doing a decent job on maintenance. The front desk staff are very polite and friendly and helped us a lot with maps and wine-country info.

    « Sweet Staycation »

My wife and I chose this for a short, local Getaway. Comfortable bed. Nice fireplace! One very nice afternoon in the sun next to the pool. A really good breakfast. And just a block from Sonoma Plaza - we could walk to wine tastings and dinner. Didn't need to touch the car for two days. The employees were nice and everything was clean. We would do this again!

    « Cech-Corrado Weddng »

Very enjoyable experience, We were there for a wedding Accommodations were perfect. Breakfast was delish and abundant. Appreciated the hours assigned. Unfortunately, we were unable to visit any of the local wineries, due to time restraints, but will schedule more time on next visit

    « Awesome service!!!!!!!!!!! »

First of all I want to send out a big THANK YOU to Drew who worked the evening shift at the check-in desk. He was amazing - so kind. I feel bad but I did not get the other gentleman's name at check-in - we put him through a lot but he just laughed it off - and was a huge help to us. The best continental breakfast - such a variety - and it was free. Another hotel in the area charged us $12.99 for their continental breakfast and it was just basically fruit and oatmeal!! The rooms were comfortable and clean. I just cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was at this Best Western. If I am ever lucky enough to return to Sonoma I will stay at this hotel.

    « Very nice place »

We stayed one night and had the next day to see the area which we have seen before. This is a very nice place. It had a pool and hot tub and a very nice patio area with tables near the hot tub. The room was clean and nice and the deck area was overlooking the pool area. We could exit to the pool area from the deck of our room. Nice atmosphere and decor. We enjoyed our stay. We required a 1 PM checkout which they allowed.

    « Sonoma, CA »

Walking distance to shops, restaurants and the main square park. Amenities, good. Breakfast, good. A variety of items. Hot tub rooms were located on the 2nd. floor. Suites rooms, very spacious. Pool and hot tub located outside, close to front desk.

« A Really Nice Place With A Great Location »

My wife and I stayed at the BW Sonoma Valley Inn for 5 nights in September and used it as a "base of operations" for our tour of the CA wine country. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and felt it was similar to staying at a small B&B, but without the higher cost. The rooms are relatively spacious with most having a fireplace and private balcony overlooking the courtyard. In addition they offer a hot breakfast each morning, have a heated pool, hot tub, & sauna, and provide free WiFi. Furthermore the hotel's location is outstanding and within walking distance of the town square, specialty stores, numerous points of interest, and loads of great restaurants. In summary, the Sonoma Valley Inn provides a wonderful hotel experience at a fair price. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

« Sonoma last minute getaway »

I won some tickets from a local radio station to an event at the Sonoma Fairmont Mission inn. The prices for an overnight stay there were not in my price range so after doing some research I chose this BW. The location is perfect. Black Bear diner and Whole foods is across the street and the Sonoma square is within walking distance. The hotel is clean, our room was directly above the lobby which I thought might be a problem with noise but it was not a problem. We will definitely return when booking another trip in Sonoma.

    4
« Excellent Customer Service & Great Outdoor Space »

I booked two rooms for my bachelorette party from 15-18 September, and due to a computer glitch one of our rooms was given away the first night. Before we arrived at the hotel (very late arrival due to evening flight from the East Coast), I received a phone call explaining what happened and instructions on the alternate hotel they already booked for us, no charge. Although it was disappointing to have our party separated that first night, the Sonoma Valley Inn went above and beyond to make up for the mistake with various methods of compensation. We were so happy with our stay! The rooms were very cute and decently spacious, and the double queen beds were pretty comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub, outdoor fireplace,, and evening wine tasting! Also, the location is so close to everything! We walked to dinner both nights, and were able to Uber to several wonderful nearby wineries. All and all, it was a great place for a group celebration!

    5
    « Awesome at a price »

We had no reservations as we weren't sure where we would be that day, but stopped at this hotel and were pleasantly surprised. While the room rate was a lot more than I normally would pay, didn't want to travel around looking. As it turned out there was an Indy Race at the Sonoma Raceway we were unaware of. The hotel is near town center so walking to different areas was easy. The staff were very courteous and helpful and the room was awesome with a fireplace, microwave, frig and patio overlooking the pool and Jacuzzi. For easy access to the pool area, rx a room on the bottom floor. The breakfast bar had so many selections, there was something for everyone. The hotel was within easy walking distance of several wine tasting rooms.

    5
« Excellent base for exploring the area »

We stayed here for two nights while exploring the wine area. From the moment we arrived we realised we had made a good decision. The reception staff were friendly and helpful; the rooms were large and well equipped (strange but quirky to find a fireplace in the room); the courtyard with pool, hot tub and sauna was relaxing. There was a good variety of hot and cold food provided for the free breakfast and the ladies who were in attendance always had a smile and a "good morning". The only negative was that our room (132) and other corner rooms cannot access the pool directly; if we were staying longer we would have asked to move. We would definitely stay here again and hopefully for longer next time.

    « Still a Great Value - Comfortable Stay »

My husband, two teenagers, and I stayed two nights at this hotel. We had stayed here 15 years ago and loved it ? so it was our first choice when returning. Check in was smooth and quick. Front desk staff was courteous and our room was ready early. Loved the fresh chilled cucumber water in the lobby, and coffee and tea was also available for guests. Parking is plentiful and free. Laundry facility is also free for guests ? which was a terrific perk. We did not use the fitness facility, but it offered a few machines and chilled water. The hotel itself is close to Sonoma Square, so it's a fantastic location Although a little older facility, it is well kept and very clean. We had a 2 Queen room with balcony and fireplace, which we loved ? also a mini fridge and little sitting area inside. The room was spacious although I'd like a little more storage space/drawers for belongings. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and reasonably sized, with good water pressure and shampoo/lotion amenities provided. Would like to have had more shelf or storage space for toiletries. Plenty of towels, however. There is a coffee maker and complimentary coffee in the room. Breakfast was included. It consisted of eggs, bacon or sausage, baked goods, fruit, coffee, and juice. There is a small pool and about 12-15 chaise lounge chairs in the inner courtyard, which was a nice place to gather late in the afternoon ? this seemed to be the place everyone went to with their cup of wine after a long day. Towels are provided and there is also a restroom, sauna, and hot tub in the courtyard. Nothing special but we loved this peaceful little area. The only downside was some guests were smoking by the pool, so the air was a bit smoky when we were there. The Whole Foods store across the street is a great place to buy a bottle of wine, some gourmet snacks, and even some hot deli foods if you don't want to eat out every meal. We were impressed with the nice variety. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. Although a little older than when we were here last time, it still was a great value for a fantastic location in Sonoma. Nice sized space for a family. Very comfortable stay and we'd come back again!

    « Covering the basics »

We stayed here on our last trip to Sonoma in an effort to see if saving on hotel rooms would change the way we viewed the area. On two previous trips, we stayed at upscale, high end places and wondered if we fell in love with the pampering and amenities or the town itself. We also did this in two other California towns. In the other places, the Beat Westerns were awful. Dirty and basic but the Sonoma Best Western was a different animal. We were met at the desk by Pauley who took care of our every need and answered numerous questions. Our rooms were spacious and well equipped and we were in walking distance of the center of town. In the evening, we met other visitors as we sat by the common fire pit. The free breakfast was the only bummer as it was really worth more to pay and eat some palatable food. Our beds were comfortable and other linens at least soft and large enough. We found that The hotel wasn't what made Sonoma but that Sonoma made it worth the hotel.

    5
    « Beautiful Courtyard »

This place had a private 360 degree inner courtyard with a pool, hot tub, and sauna. Also had tables, outdoor heater. The rooms all opened up to the courtyard. It was within walking distance to the Sonoma Plaza with shops and restaurants. You can drive to Sonoma and Napa wineries and also the Central Coast wineries.

    4
« Good vale in downtown Sonoma »

I stayed as part of a large group of motoring friends and enjoyed the stay the hotel is well appointed and very local to the main town square and a strip mall The room was great and well appointed. My room was a corner room on the second flirt facing outward If you have trouble with mobility ask for ground floor too and don't ask for the suites Breakfast was hot and cold and very good Overall for Sonoma a good value hotel

    5
« BEST WESTERN Sonoma Valley Inn & Krug Event Center »

Very nice room, breakfast, and staff. The guy at the front desk at night was very nice, and gave us a free room upgrade, because we booked the wrong night. Very good muffins, and you get 10% off at the Black Bear Dinner across the street, if you stay there.

« Convenient Location - Needs an Update »

While attending a weekend wedding we stayed at the hotel given family and friends were staying there as well. The hotel is in a convenient part of town and a block or so from the central park area and hub of restaurants. The hotel could use an upgrade in its rooms as the appearance is a bit antiquated. The rates seemed a bit pricier than normal but due to its location and time of the year seemed to be understandable. The center courtyard where the pool is located is a nice place for friends and family to gather during the day.

    3
    « Cozy motel »

Pros: Location - very close to Sonoma center, Whole Foods Market right across the street. rooms are spacious and clean. Nice pool area with jacuzzi. Breakfast included. Free parking. Calm and relaxing atmosphere. Cons: basically it's a motel with jacuzzi and breakfast. Good for overnight for those who are more interested in the wine tasting. Bottom line - in comparison to other hotels in Sonoma (quite expensive) this is a good value for money but very average.

    4
    « 10yr Anniversary Motorcycle Wine Tasting »

It is a great place to stay. Very clean, natural fireplace, yoga in the courtyard. Staff is beyond excellent, with fantastic suggestions for winery tastings. Nice outdoor space for breakfast! Great value.

    3
    « Good and convenient »

Convenient stop-off. Fit for purpose as a base for exploring but not a destination venue to hang around in. Somewhat impersonal, no bar and low grade breakfast facilities. Por wifi - so not deal for conference delegates! Our room was pretty noisy.

    3
    « weekend getaway. »

Hotel is average, this place is only for you to sleep. if you don't mind the noise of the loud air condition unit. The Lobby need to be updated, the carpet floor behind the counter is so dirty The location is ok., if you want to get away to have overnight weekend for wine tasting. its located in the old downtown area. you will find good local restaurants (whiskey bar) and also Catholic Church is walking distance, there is also a replica of the mission church. oh wine tasting you can go to the reception and pick which wine tour you want to take. but if you are driving you will enjoy it more you can take your time and choose which winery you want to go. I would recommend the Castle its a little far from the Hotel its about 35 to 45 minutes drive in Napa/Calistoga but its worth the drive.

    3
    « Weekend Wedding »

A block or so from the center of town. The king with fireplace was clean, but not available when we arrived on Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm. Ready by 4 pm. Room was basic. Breakfast was basic too and basically horrible. Scrambled eggs cooked in identical half circles. Tasteless. Tiny thin bacon - tasteless. Bananas- green but edible. Kind of low end. Price per night was high for these accommodations.

    4
« Just around the corner to the Plaza! »

Lovely room off the pool with a small balcony. Very good breakfast , well prepared...even scones! Beverages available all day...no, not alcohol :) Quick walk to the action and several tasting rooms. Blessedly quiet .

« Good family hotel in the wine country.... »

In the middle of the week, we suddenly decided to go away for couple of days and Sonoma came to my mind - my daughter was going through the monotonous extended summer - my wife also said yes and we just drove off on Wednesday morning. Paulie from the hotel helped me book a room with very reasonable rate. After all day in Napa, we arrived at Sonoma Plaza and within 2 mins we found the hotel. The reception was great, got the room in 5 minutes and got the room we wanted. Nothing very fancy, pretty good room and everything we wanted were there. Beds could have been a bit firmer, but it was fine. Next day morning breakfast was pretty good at the Krug Center Hall of the Hotel - food was good and staff was friendly.

    « Comfy Hotel-helpful Staff »

Stayed here Thursday and Friday night ( BIG increase in price for Friday night!) Enjoyed the breakfast with waffles, eggs, bacon, yogurt and muffins. Plenty of beverage choices too. There's complementary yoga by the pool- I didn't have time to take advantage of. Nor did I use the inviting pool/spa. Check in and out was quick. Reception area has beverages available 24/7. Room was quiet and comfy. Used the fridge for purchases:)

« Dated, but good price, clean, & breakfast! »

This Best Western in Sonoma is close to town (2-3 blocks)! The staff was very helpful and the ground are well kept. Although it's an older, rather dated structure, Best Western has updated the furniture and decor in the rooms. Our room had a fireplace, a mini-frig, and window air conditioner. The breakfast buffet had eggs, a meat dish, several kinds of bread and rolls, juice, dry cereals (love the granola), hot oatmeal, coffee and hot water for tea. All in all a good pick for the location, price, and quality of the room.

« NICE IN COMMON SETTING »

Picked this off the internet for a one night stay in Sonoma. It came with a couple free winery tasting settings. We got in later in the afternoon so with business hour type of restrictions we couldnt make it until the next day to the tastings. It wasnt planned that way, but we made it work. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful with eating and drinking places to go that we would like. the room was very nice and clean. Large and welcoming. The hotel sits in the midst of an older town setting but it blends well into the surroundings. I would stay here again without question. The morning breakfast was also really good and free!!!

    « Great Stay »

We stayed here for one night for the wine tasting part of our trip up the west coast. We thought the hotel was in nice condition and our room was huge! It had a fireplace with a log in it, AC, nice bathroom and shower and delicious complimentary hot breakfast. It was within walking distance to many wineries, wine tasting rooms, restaurants and a cute little downtown. It is also close to both Sonoma and Napa. The only complaint would be that there is no microwave, but it wasn't a big deal!

« average, much better out there for the price »

wished we had stayed in Napa at the Ivy House instead .pillow sucked. rooms are dated. breakfast had powdered eggs. internet was very slow. no elevator to second floor. had to haul all my gear up the stairs the whole time, asked for lower floor, would accommodate. will try another hotel when on business in Sonoma, or just stay in Napa moving forward.

« Perfect location and friendly staff »

This hotel is close to the square and walking distance to many restaurants. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make this a great experience. We have stayed at this hotel several times and will return again.

« Sonoma is a definite bucket list item! »

Let me just start by saying that Sonoma is authentic. It is not one of those contrived destinations where corporations create a hamster like environment for tourist to visit. With this authenticity comes great unique places to stay and eat. A hotel we keep coming back to is the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn... It is a happy place to stay. The staff there have always been helpful kind and eager to share information about local attractions. The guest are friendly too. The place hat has a great energy about it. The rooms are clean but slightly dated, nothing that will bother you after a glass of wine or two! The beds are spotless with a fresh clean top sheet over and under the comforter, and super comfy pillows. We have stayed at one of the newer and more luxurious inns in town and it was lovely, shiny and new but when we return to Sonoma we will stay at the Best Western because of the service, comfort and vibe. Cheers!

« Nice hotel and close to town. »

This is a very nice place to stay while in Sonoma. Town is a block away with many tasting rooms, shops and restaurants. Down stairs room had access to the pool and hot tub, and a seating area. Provided breakfast is very good. Guest laundry is free. A Whole Foods is across the street. Only complaint was that there were no in room microwave ovens. There was one microwave in the office. Second time here and will be back.

« Not so bad not so good »

Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn & Krug Event Center is in a convenient location. There is a shopping plaza with a Whole Foods Market opposite from the main building. It is literally across the street. So convenient. It's a plus! The outlook of the motel is much better than inside the room. The room is just regular motel room, dark and windows facing the hallway which you will not open the curtain. Our room is included breakfast. Breakfast hall is located in Krug Event Center which is just a small building behind the main building, serving coffee, juice, cereal, fruit, toast eggs etc. We had some coffee and cereal and we were on our way. In conclusion, for the price of the room in "Sonoma", it's not bad. But for the standard of a motel/hotel, it is just average.

    « Nice Getaway! »

We traveled as a three generation family and rented three rooms. The rooms did vary in features. One room had a VERY high bed and was difficult for those in our party with mobility issues. Another room had no fire screen covering the fireplace. The room with the high bed was more worn than the other two. The furniture was more dinged up and the showerhead dial dislodged when trying to change the spray pattern. Beds were comfortable, but varied in softness levels. The outside grounds were well kept. The pool had leaves, hair and other debris (insects, etc.) floating during mid-afternoon, however. It was also hard to walk by the pool deck when it was wet. The health club was ok and provided a light workout. The best part of the stay was the breakfast. Nice surroundings, hot food and pleasant, helpful staff. Much better than breakfast experiences at other hotels.

« Overpriced Motel but with some Positives »

My family stayed at the BW Sonoma Valley Inn for 2 weekend nights. Here are the Pros: My kids enjoyed the pool, hot tub and the free breakfast. The motel employees were very courteous and friendly. The location is excellent, and very close to Sonoma Square, Train Town, the Mission Solano, nice restaurants, etc. Here are the Negatives: The room was quite outdated, had a lot of spiders and other bugs due to apparent non-use for a while, and the carpet looked very tired. There was mildew in the bath tub. Overall, it was the experience of a budget motel room but at resort prices.

« Two nights in Sonoma »

Well-maintained property in an excellent location. It is a short walk to Sonoma Plaza where you can enjoy all of the great restaurants and tasting rooms and in under 30 minutes you can drive to over 50 differnt wineries! Rooms are clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends!

« Great Location, Good Value »

The best thing about this hotel is the location, less than 2 blocks to the Plaza with all that it has to offer (good restaurants, stores, farmers' market). It is also across the street from a strip mall that includes CVS which is handy if you forgot to bring something. Room was clean, everything worked properly. There were 2 straight-backed chairs with padding that were not comfortable; the desk chair was better. There was a fireplace with a Duraflame log which we did not use. We had room 129 which had a view of the stairs to the 2nd floor but it appeared that almost all the other rooms had a little better view. Breakfast is in a building a short walk away. It was kept fully stocked, never ran out of anything. There was a pancake machine which made so-so pancakes (too dense, not at all fluffy), oatmeal, scrambled eggs and the usual selection of cold cereal, bread, pastries. Pool area was clean and quiet. We did not use the pool but enjoyed the whirlpool. You pick up pool towels in the lobby and walk through to the pool courtyard. I booked directly at the Best Western website. At first it seemed I would get the same AAA price as advertised on other sites but when I entered 3 nights, I got an even better rate. There is no elevator so if carrying your suitcase to the 2nd floor will be a problem, be sure to ask for a room on the 1st floor. If I returned to Sonoma, I would stay here again.

    « Overnight stay »

We appreciated the large rooms with comfy beds and the option to use the fireplace. The large hot tub and courtyard provided a great space for hanging out. We also appreciated that there were many options available for breakfast such as fresh pastries, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, eggs and waffles. A healthy grocery store is conveniently located in the strip mall across the street along with a drugstore and other stores. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating.

    « Hotel didn't have my booking »

I had a Tripadvisor confirmation number but the hotel had nothing regarding my reservation. Luckily they had a room and charged me the Tripadvisor rate. The hotel was in a great location and very nice and comfortable. I will go back again but I won't be using Tripadvisor to book it. I can't find anyway to contact Tripadvisor to find out what happened to my booking.

    « Nice Hotel But......... »

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights July 2016. The pool area and breakfast area are simply beautiful! There is coffee always in the lobby. The breakfast is plentiful and good with outside seating if you choose. The rooms are a little dated but clean. There is free wifi and free use of the laundry facilities. Don't find that very often. My problem was with the staff I encountered. Second day there we were gone all day to the wineries. When we left the maids were in the room next door. When we returned our room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk. I was told I must have left my do not disturb sign out and that is why no cleaning happened. No I did not as I did not have a do not disturb sign. But I was made to feel this was my fault by the front desk person Darrel. I asked if someone could come clean and bring towels. I was told very rudely that housekeeping had left for the day. So I asked for towels at least. One hour later 10:30 got towels. I checked out with Gabby. When I asked for a receipt I was told that she could not give me one. I made my reservation with an outside 3rd party and I would need to get my receipt from them. I didn't quite understand this as other hotels I had stayed in did not follow this policy unless you had prepaid. Anyway Gabby was very condescending and didn't want to be bothered to explain. It is very nice to stay in a beautiful facility but if the hotel staff treats the guests with disrespect that pretty much leaves a bad impression. Sonoma is a beautiful area and these are the only 2 people who were so rude during our stay there. But for the price we paid at this hotel they should have been jumping thru hoops to make us happy. Maybe these 2 need a little mentoring in dealing with customers in a pleasant manner!!!

    « LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION »

Stayed here to attend a family wedding in Sonoma. Nightly rate (for weekends) was $300+/night. After all, it is only a MOTEL, so was expecting nicer rooms for that price. But the location of the hotel more than made up for the room rate. It is located off the busy "main" streets, yet is only a block away from the downtown area and their central park. Weather was lovely, so we walked everywhere that weekend. GOOD TO KNOW: It's a dog friendly hotel, fireplaces in the guest rooms, free wine tasting in the evenings, free morning yoga classes outdoors, by the pool, and free Breakfast (albeit typical free-hotel breakfast) included in the room rate. The walk to the breakfast building was shady, along a well-groomed path with benches and garden art. Sufficient supply of coffee & tea was provided, along with breakfast choices (waffle iron with two types of batter, scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries, breads, yogurt and fruit, etc.). The hotel employee ("server") made sure the tables were bussed and the dining room was clean, that coffee was replenished before it ran out, and ensured a sufficient supply of food was displayed for the guests. Good job there. No valet (it's a motel), and "drive-up to your door" parking. The hotel is a rectangle, with an open atrium in the middle (the pool, hot tub, and garden area), so most rooms (ground and 2nd floor) have a view to the pool/garden. My room was on the ground floor with a patio, and had a low, private gate that let me walk right to the garden/pool area from my room. Second floor rooms have a balcony overlooking the same. My room had a fireplace and think most of the guest rooms have a fireplace. The hotel is dog friendly and Whole Foods, CVS, and Black Bear Diner is nearby. -The hotel grounds are clean and well-kept. I felt safe here, being a single traveler. -The rooms could use a facelift, and better/more lighting in the guest rooms. It was a little too dark for me - even with all the lamps on. -A/C units are those "swamp coolers" type. I had to kneel on the ground to see the control buttons on the unit. BOTTOM LINE: I would stay here again because of the location.

    « Girl's weekend out 2016 »

Stayed here for our annual Girls Weekend Out with childhood girlfriends. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. Front desk was welcoming and polite. There is ice cold water, ice tea and coffee in the lobby The rooms are clean and modern. Comfortable beds air-conditioning in the room. The breakfast was included and had the basic continental breakfast. Scrambled egg, bacon different breads for toast, fruit, juices cold and hot cereal The breakfast is served behind the building in their conference room. Great outdoors gas fire place and seating area There are bikes to rent $20 for 2 hrs and $35 for all day. A few Blocks to town with shopping and restaurants We used the hotel through groupon which included free wine and cheese tasting

    « Functional and clean »

We booked this hotel as it was a pick up spot for our 1/2 marathon. It is located on a busy corner and a short drive from downtown Napa and other quaint dining spots. We did not stay in our hotel but for shower and sleep. The room was large and clean. Minimal traffic noise and we felt safe. We stayed on the second floor and were awakened by our upstairs neighbors walking around, getting out of bed to go to the bathroom etc..the floors are very "creaky." The pool is super tiny and the hot tub looked clean (we did not swim). For the price this hotel was functional and clean for our girls weekend. I'd book again, but request the 3rd floor!

    « Continued Excellence »

The Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn continues to deliver consistent service and experience. This is the third stay at this hotel and the staff continue to be professional and happy to meet our needs. You can't beat the location. This hotel is a great value!

    « Convenient and comfortable »

Enjoyed our 1 nite stay here. Tranquil surroundings and convenient location. Across the street from Whole Foods and 2 blocks from the Sonoma Square where everything happens. Dont miss the Farmers Market held each Tuesday when in season. Food, wine, music and merchants abount. BW is in the right place for it all. Nice pool and hot tub. Would come back and stay longer!

    « Better, but... »

The property is basically sound, the location is good, and the property is clean. There is still a need for renovation, not just basic painting, but replacing wallpaper, flooring, fixtures, etc. The room was large and had many good points, but a lower floor room will have various plumbing sounds and footsteps coming through. The courtesy and attentiveness at the front desk varies--it should be uniform. Still, for the price and location, it is not a bad option.

    3
« Great central location, average hotel »

My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. The location is the best part about this hotel, as many other reviewers have said. It is literally across the street from Whole Foods and a short walk to the town center. The hotel itself was nice. It has a nice pool and spa, plus a steam room. It was pretty full when we stayed there (June 2016) but was fairly quiet in our second level corner room. The room itself was adequate - spacious and bright. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner, but the jetted tub was awesome. The wifi signal was not very strong. I feel this place is a little over priced for what it is, but I guess it's because it's in a desirable area. The town itself is rather sleepy (we were there on a Saturday and there was not much going on) so this hotel is better for relaxation rather than going out. Would be ideal for a wine tasting trip.

« Perfect location, spacious room »

My husband and I spent 3 nights in Sonoma at the Best Western, and we would definitely stay here next time we're in wine country. We chose the Best Western because it was significantly less expensive than spots actually on the square, but it's only a couple blocks farther. The hotel is an easy walk to the town square (5 minutes at most), and there's even a short-cut path from the hotel to town that's lined with flowers, trees, and a fun ostrich sculpture. Our room was huge and had a mini fridge and a fireplace. The rooms all form a courtyard around the pool area, but noise wasn't a problem. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. The free hot breakfast was great and the coffee was the best we had during our entire trip to northern Cali! We enjoyed having breakfast on the patio off the main dining room. Plenty of free parking for hotel guests. No complaints except that we should've planned to stay in Sonoma longer! :-)

« Best thing about this Best Western is the location »

Excellent location just off the main square in Sonoma. We were required to book for two nights even though we only wanted one. Rates are high for what you get. WiFi is spotty and erratic. The room was nice but not too clean with dirty grout in the bathroom and a very dated look. Mattress was soft and the pillows were large and hard. Bed was poorly made and we had to take it apart to get the mattress cover from ending up in large lumps. No top sheet just duvet. Breakfast was adequate although the scrambled eggs had the consistency of powdered eggs. I would only recommend this hotel if you want to stay near the square in Sonoma.

« Quick trip to wine country »

Quaint clean perfect for family getaway to wine country. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was very basic but OK The hotel is right in the center of all activities in Sonoma Walking distance to food shopping and a lot more Would go back if ever back in wine country Free laundry!

    « Awful »

This hotel had the worst ratio of price to value than any place I have ever stayed in my life (and I've traveled a lot). This may seem like an exaggeration but it is true. It was unbelievably terrible. The room was dirty and old (we stayed by the pool on the ground floor), incredibly dimly lit, the pool was small and dirty. The only good thing I can think of about this hotel is the location. To think about how much they charge versus what you get is truly mortifying. If you are considering this hotel at this price point please spend a few more $ and go to the fairmont or Renaissance - I can't imagine they would be anywhere as awful. Again, I am not exaggerating and I dislike when people leave unfair and biased reviews based on one encounter with a rude person or something similar. Here the totality of the experience was god awful.

« Sonoma Places to Stay »

Nice little old Best Western, could be cleaner, but great location within walking distance to downtown square...pet friendly also! Was a business/personal trip. Front desk was nice, service average in terms of giving information about the hotel and area. We only searched pet friendly hotels for this stay so I cannot compare pricing or cleanliness or service to other hotels in the area.

    « brilliant »

We arrived in Sonoma on a Saturday night & couldn't find a room, but I liked the look of this place so booked it for the Sunday & Monday night ( we then found a room a few miles away off the interstate for the night). We arrived early on the Sunday & our room was ready. We like it so much we extended our stay by an extra night. Fabulous pool area, lots of seating, we had supper in the seating area 2 nights, Wholefoods is just across the road. Back to the pool area, (why do people smoke in the pool when they think no one can see... , and I was surprised to find that dogs are allowed around the pool if on a leash.......but on the sunbeds???) Neither of these are the fault of the hotel staff. Great breakfast served in a detached building, really good choice & there was outside seating. We took advantage of the yoga sessions which were held around the pool area. The location is fantastic for an easy walk to the square & Tuesday evening farmers market, lots of fab food stalls & live music. Bikes are available for rent, great to get around the vineyard tastings. Chilled water & iced tea in the lobby all day, & really friendly & helpful front of house people. definitely recommended & would make this my first choice next time I'm in Sonoma, thanks .

    « Sonoma Valley Inn »

We stayed at the Sonoma Valley Inn and Krug Event Center for two nights while in Sonoma. The location was outstanding--we were able to walk everywhere. Our room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. The added benefits of the pool and jacuzzi were great. The complimentary breakfast was also a plus. For NASCAR fans, we heard some of the drivers stay here!

    4
« "We're here for the vineyards, not the hotel" »

This is a two-story motel. The rooms are dated and worn, but they do have a fireplace and a Duraflame log if you are inclined. The hotel encircles a courtyard that has a small but lovely pool on one end and a wine-tasting patio on the other. While there is no restaurant (other than the breakfast served in the small conference center on the premises), the hotel is across the street from Whole Foods, CVS and Baskin Robbins. The hotel is two blocks from the Sonoma town square, where a wonderful array of restaurants are.

    « Don't believe the hype! »

Yes, the "motel" has a great location. But come on people, it is still a Best Western Motel. Every thing about it is motel. It is not a Hotel and it certainly is not an Inn. Just because it is in fancy shamcy Sonoma, doesn't give it the right to call themselves an "Inn"! The furnishings, the in room amenities, motel. Two floors,no elevator, motel! The staff, clueless, motel. The breakfasts, motel. Quaintness, motel. Weak wifi, motel.

« Best Stay in Sonoma »

It would be nice to have an exhaust fan in shower/toilet area, pocket door in this area slid roughly and was loud, couch is a bit uncomfortable. These minor issues did not diminish the long list of other great things about the suites at your location. The courtyard and landscaping is beautiful, the room and amenities were very comfortable and pleasing and the proximity to downtown is ideal. Thanks, Mike.

Room was spacious (we had a corner room) and very clean, a little street noise one night. Great location. Continental breakfast in a beautiful garden setting. Would definitely stay there again. We were there looking at Sonoma State for my daughter....a 20 minute drive.

    « Always happy here »

This hotel is one of our favorites when we visit the Napa area. It is convenient to the Sonoma Sqaure, which we love the Tuesday evenings of food, families and fun, outing. Vendors galore with food trucks, fresh fruits and vegetables, & crafts. Also, close to shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and clean. The grounds are landscaped very nicely. We love the courtyard in the evening sipping wine around the fire pit and meeting other people that are staying there. There is a nice pool and hot tub. The continental breakfast is in a different building, but very nice.

    « Great location! »

I have stayed here for work many times, and every time, it's been great. It is close to the plaza. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is friendly. Great breakfast, too! The only downside is that there are no refridgerators or microwaves in the standard rooms.

« Relaxing Exprience and Wonderful Staff »

My wife and I checked in on Sunday June19th as the first stop on our Anniversary Vacation to tour the Wine Country. After a long flight from Minnesota and fighting the Fathers day traffic from San Francisco to Sonoma we checked in late around 6:00 p.m. The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful, and when they found out we were there for our Anniversary even upgraded our room to a suite in the Event Center. What a nice gesture, and a very nice room with separate Jacuzzi, a balcony, very comfortable bed and even a bottle of wine in the refrigerator...good show. One glitch however, we could not get the air conditioning to function properly. I'm still not sure if it was the a/c or just "user error" on my part. When we called to have someone look at it, they sent someone quickly (remember it was getting later Sunday night). I have to give him credit for his yeoman like efforts to get it functioning, but to no avail. Not a problem here, they just moved us to the room next door (now we got two balconies...whoooohooo). The rest of our stay went without a hitch. The breakfast was simple eggs/sausage/bacon with the standard cereals, danish etc. but was done right with staff making sure everything was refilled promptly. When we ventured out on our own tour of the wineries, the staff was very helpful in giving us suggestions and supplying us with discount coupons for tastings. Thank you. We chose this hotel because of it's location to the square, and it is just the right spot for low key. moderately priced, relaxing "home base" for a wine country experience. We highly recommend it. Thank you to the staff for your efforts all around.

« A good place to stay in the center of Sonoma »

The only problem during our 3-day stay was that the hotel computer was down at the time of our departure, and it took a week before our receipt was emailed. But everything else went very well. The hotel was quiet, the room was clean, the staff was helpful, and the free breakfast wasn't bad. Another plus was the location--around the corner from the town plaza and across the street from a shopping center.

    « Nice hotel »

Great place to stay- loved the spacious room, beautiful grounds and general area. Room had good space and separate bathroom behind a wall so others that sleep later are not disturbed. Also had an a porch type area with 2 chairs that overlooked the pool. Beds and furnishings are updated and comfortable. Breakfast was busy but quite edible and entire staff was both competent and helpful. No surprises

« lovely stay and perfect for Sonoma Plaza »

This hotel is situated around the corner and a 2 minute walk from the historic Sonoma Square Plaza. Rooms are built around a central courtyard and swimming pool with security gates for private access. My room was big and very comfortable done in a lodge style and even came with a fireplace (although not needed when it's 90 degrees). Breakfasts were self service buffet style and had everything you could ever want. Breakfast could be taken in the dining room or outside in the lovely courtyard garden. Definitely recommend this place

    « June in Sonoma »

I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western Krug Center. The weather was ten degrees cooler than the valley that made for comfortable exploration of the quaint little town square. I like this hotel because it has a hot tub, sauna and pool in a courtyard and lovely fountains and birds singing. I always request a lower patio so I can walk from my room to the pool. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the town which has lots of shops and restaurants. We chose the Swiss Hotel for our meal on there patio. Their food is home-style, and delicious, but there are more gourmet options around the town. If you go during the week rates are cheaper, but the wine tasting around the town ends at 6!

    « Nice location/staff »

Other than the nice location and wonderful staff and grounds, this hotel isn't much to write home about - especially given the price for 2 nights. Rooms are dated; loud AC that shuts off for no reason.

Friendly staff, welcoming lobby included tea/coffee/lemonade. Adorable courtyard with fire pit, hot tub and pool. Each room has a patio. Breakfast was enjoyable as well. « Good location, Good Value »

This older motel has been recently renovated and offers helpful staff, good location and nice amenities. In the inner courtyard, you'll find a pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Breakfast is offered in a separate building, but we didn't get a chance to sample it because we always walked into town to try out local restaurants. That's another plus for this hotel -- you can easily walk to Sonoma's central plaza for shopping, sight-seeing and sampling the many restaurants. Hotel rooms are a good size with balconies, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards. Our room had a fireplace with a pressed log and matches ready to go. The sink area was a bit small for two people, especially because the coffee/tea service was on the counter. Special kudos to Gabby on the front desk, who went out of her way to respond to an awkward situation at check-in.

« Nice place to stay for a break in Sonoma valley »

This was nice hotel/inn - comfortable, well located , with most amenities a person on a short break would want. Check in & out process was smooth. We were lucky to have a ground floor room, with parking just outside, which was convenient for moving luggage. Overall we had good stay

« Amazing Stay and Great Location »

Had a great time in Sonoma. We are a 30 year old couple that wanted to find a hotel close to the action so we wouldn't have to worry about driving home at the end of the day. This hotel is perfect for that, it is maybe 15 yards to the plaza, which is where all the good restaurants are. The hotel also offers an amazing military discount, friendly staff, and Jacuzzi. Highly recommend

« location is the best part, along with pool »

I usually don't stay in a hotel like this, we paid $400 each night for a small, uncomfortable room. I give an average rating, because for the star rating of this hotel, it is probably average where it falls. The pool was a great amenity. The location is why we chose this hotel. Across from Whole Foods and short distance to Sonoma square hot spots. The breakfast is not anything to look forward to. Customer service was acceptable.

    3
« Convenient but needs an update »

Our room was just OK. Small bathroom and sink area. Needs updating. Best part was the easy walk to the square and tasting rooms and restaurants. There is a substantial breakfast included. The coffee is weak and tasteless though. The HVAC is seriously old and weak. Hard to get the whole room cooled.

« Nice location to the plaza...needs customer service training »

Just a block off the plaza, comfortable rooms, large bathroom (sink outside) and room has a working fireplace. The center area with pool, Jacuzzi, steam room -- tables to sit if you could get the staff to start the small fire pit. Breakfast in other building (Krug Event Center) or is it--first morning yes; pancakes, bagels, apples, bananas; second morning the door is locked -- no note nothing. Walked over to lobby -- desk clerk noted as you can see it is in here this morning. Why no notice-- "most guest figure it out" Yoga is offered free on M, W and F in room states 8am signed up in lobby-- All ready to do yoga--no instructor; went to lobby to ask; Yoga starts at 9am --"didn't you read the poster by the pool" we showed the room promo :-( Check out; I had to provide my email to get my receipt-- ok I was emailed my confirmation, emailed a reminder -my email is not in my folio? Guess what - I never rec'd my final statement by email. Wifi was good and easy to access. The desk clerk smoking next door wasn't too attractive either. Nice Best Western I would say 3 star property -- but the cost of $270 a night- you would expect better customer service -- the staff could not care to be there in our opinion

« For a good price go, otherwise skip it »

I'm amazed by people writing favorable reviews as that was NOT our experience. Pluses were: across street from Whole Foods Market, CVS pharmacy, pizza place and a diner. Also easy walking to a large variety of irestaurants a couple blocks away. Negatives: old decor, not very clean, maintenance issues in the room and outside, poor quality wifi, poor quality breakfast, very old and noisy HVAC, filthy exhaust fan in bathroom. low quality toilet paper, towels, etc., door security inside room was a joke. No elevator, but just 2 floors. Bathroom floor tilted and no where to put toiletries. Front desk had an idiot working when we checked in. Not of a quality usually associated with Best Western brand. So, if you get a good price stay as other hotels seem very pricey, but if not a good deal, spend your money on a higher priced hotel. We had what they called a "family room" which had a pull out sofa in addition to the king sized bed, but the room was odd. It was noisy from outside traffic.

    « Here for a wedding »

The room was great - bathroom a little dated - but everything was clean and comfortable (including the bed!). The staff was wonderful and the free breakfast, acceptable. We did not use the pool but relatives did and liked it. We liked the proximity to downtown square and many wonderful restaurants and bars.

« Great location in Sonoma »

Nice hotel near the Sonoma Square! Lots of local wineries at the square so no need to drive out of the area. Be sure to visit Roche winery! Fun shopping to break up the wine tastings! Whole Foods market is across the street to grab some goodies for your picnic in the park. Been going there with the family for 28 years. Great education buildings at the square. Highly recommend a Sonoma trip for the whole family.

« Not worth the price »

Comfortable and great location/proximity to downtown Sonoma. Average accomodations in room; gardens/grounds average and relaxing; breakfast the worst that we've encountered with Best Western: located in tightly crammed lobby, awkwardly arranged and quite inaccessible without stumbling over fellow guests and staff. Unfortunate considering outrageous pricing for a one night stay.

Location was very good. It was in downtown Sanoma. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very good for the value. Included breakfast, free parking and wi fi. Would recommend this hotel to visitors going to Sanoma valley

« Free yoga by the pool ?? »

A pleasant surprise. Friendly staf, pool&spa&steam room, complimentary breakfast, 3 times a week free yoga class by the pool. All day water and ice tea in the lounge, during the day also coffee and tea. Rooms were fine, with a balcony. The best thing, the location, across the street from whole foods and only a few minutes walking to the historic plaza and restaurants of Sonoma. For those who want to do wine tastings without driving, Sebastiani is withing walking distance. Also a bit further, but beautiful is bartholemeu. For hikers, the short overlook trail gives you views over Sonoma.

« Perfect Place to Stay for any trip »

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times with and without my significant other and children. It is the best place to stay to be in walking distance of restaurants, shops and wine tastings. The front desk staff has always been helpful in pointing us in the right directions, and acquiring reservations at superb restaurants. Paulie was extremely friendly and helpful- Keep up the good work guys! There is a pool, jaccuzi, and sauna, on the property, the rooms are clean- and many have a balcony and a fireplace! There is even a laundry room onsite, if you need to wash a few things. Oh, and the breakfast will start your day off right- the women who work the breakfast work really hard to make sure you have what you need. I will always go back to the Sonoma Valley Inn!

« Best location and value »

We have stayed here often and always enjoy it. Great service and best location. One block to main square and across the street from Whole Foods, CVS and restaurants. Good location for a main hub in order to explore Sonima Valley. Nice pool and hot tub. Free yoga on certain mornings, Will return!

« Great bang for your buck »

Great location. Large, clean rooms and comfy beds. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone although quality is so-so. But what do you expect for a motel breakfast. Staff was really helpful and attentive. Pool and hot tub with lounge area was nice bonus.

This was an inexpensive option in Sonoma and we were very happy with it. The reception staff made some great wine tasting suggestions and gave us a whole bunch of free tasting cards. The room was very large with a fireplace. Parking was easy and location excellent.

We did not spend much time in the room, but the room was spacious and fit four adults comfortably. Convenient location, can walk to town and Sebastian Winery. Very comfortable room. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

« PERFECT LOCATION AND STAY »

We travel a lot, and when we look for a hotel, location and price are important. I found this hotel based on reviews on TA (my bible). Great find- great stay! No, the rooms aren't the hyatt, but they are perfectly clean with a good bed, a fireplace, and large bathroom counter. Paulie at the front desk was super welcoming, and gave us great suggestions. The included breakfast was perfect and was a great start to our days in wine country, We will be back!

    « Big Room, Not-So-Great-Bathroom »

The bathroom is where this hotel cuts corners, cheap T.P. and toilet seat, non-user-friendly tub/shower. One computer to serve everyone without a laptop. Great front desk people. Parking seemed adequate. No elevator, but only two floors.

« Disappointing! Noisy, outdated motel rooms, mundane breakfast »

We stayed at Sonoma Best Western in early April for 3 nights to attend a wedding locally. It is not even fair to call this place an "inn" or a hotel, it is a converted motel and shows its age. I would give the BW Sonoma its highest score for location, directly across from Whole foods, and walking distance to town. There was ample parking, and the daily breakfast was included in the room rate. The staff was good, helpful and accommodating. The housekeeping was above average. The downside are the out of date rooms: they are dark, not enough natural light comes in, paint is tinged and rooms just are not generally inviting. The carpet in my room was worn. The bathroom was more modern. The heating/ac unit was noisy and it may keep you awake as it cycles on and off. The bed was less than ideal, the mattress felt worn and mushy. While the room had a fireplace, it is not a gas fireplace and due to local restrictions you can only burn a single duraflame log each day (whoopee!). I could have overlooked much of this, if I'd been able to get a good night's sleep. But of the three nights I stayed there, I only really slept soundly one night, the other 2 nights I was disturbed by noise from adjoining rooms. Keep in mind that Sonoma is a big wedding town and on Friday and Saturday nights you may be woken up by people coming back from bachelor or wedding parties at 1:30 am. Which I was. On Sunday night the hotel was more quiet but then again on Monday night when more guests checked in it was noisy again until almost midnight. It is just not well insulated for sound. Our rooms were located adjacent to a staircase and every time someone went up or down the stairs or slammed the metal gate, it would wake me up. My sister heard noise through the walls of her room (TV, people talking on phone etc.). Our friends who stayed in a first floor unit said they could hear the people above them. The 2nd floor is not easily accessible, there are no elevators so you will have to lug your bags up the staircase. The lobby is very small, no real lounge and only a small sitting area. The breakfast room is large but on a busy morning you may have to compete for a table. The breakfast food, I am sorry but it is all food service "cafeteria quality." NO fresh fruit, only processed items, powdered eggs etc. It was edible but nothing special. A word about the front desk.. on check in, I was given a room facing the front and main road and I expressed concern about the traffic noise. The desk clerk said "oh the town quiets down later at night etc" but that is the wrong response. He should have offered me a different room on the side or back. Given that we had booked a month or two earlier and checked in early I am sure there were other rooms. The fact is that there are a lot of loud vehicles in Sonoma, including locals with noisy trucks and hotrod Hondas. You will hear the street noise in your room. Most of the rooms have a back window or balcony that faces the pool and hot tub. When there is a large group out there, you will hear the noise in your room. Lastly the price!! $200 a night, for a 2-star motel? Outrageous price and there are much nicer places we could have stayed for the same amount.

    « Loved it »

The rooms are a bit old but it wasn't a problem. It was big and it had a fireplace, it was very nice. The rooms on the ground floor have a back door that leads to the pool area. There was also free laundry, just bring your soap or buy at the site. The machines are not industrial though so drying takes a while. Breakfast was adequate. I liked the sausages. The front desk staff were accommodating but there were only 2 of them and they had to answer phone calls too. The hotel is only 2 minutes away by car to the plaza and to the restaurants. We got a deal on groupon and it included 2 wine tastings and 1 olive oil tasting, we tried all of it and we really had a great time! The tastings were at great vineyards too!

« Great Room in a Very Neat Town »

The hotel was located on a quiet street, just off the town common, and laid out in square with the pool in the center. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool. It had a business meeting center in a separate building, where they also served a generous and hot breakfast.

    2
« the rooms are very dated »

The lobby is nice, the outdoor areas are very nice but the rooms are straight out of motel 6. Staff is very pleasant and the location is excellent. You can walk to everything and Wholefoods Market is just across the street. If the hotel would update the rooms, it would be a great hotel.

    5
    « Wonderful! »

The room we had was big and comfortable. Nice view of the pool and hot tub. Super nice employees. So close to the square was nice. Love the Black Bear Restaurant and Whole Food RIGHT across the street, very convenient.

« Perfect, close to the center »

The hotel is located at 5minutes walking distance from the Plaza, the centre of Sonoma. The rooms are very good, clean, full equipped. There is a swimmingpool and a small SPA plus a sauna. The breakfast is probably one of the best we had during our trip in US. Wifi for free. Everything was perfect

« Expensive, pretentious, and not well maintained »

I stayed here for two nights while attending a destination wedding in Sonoma. I couldn't check in until 4:00 even though the hotel wasn't busy at my 2:00 pm arrival. The room was clean and quiet but the queen mattress was old and saggy. I expect something better when paying more than $200 per night for a chain motel in the middle of nowhere. The location is walking distance from the Sonoma Plaza, but in general it's the middle of nowhere. If not for the wedding I wouldn't have come to motel.

    5
    « WOW »

Can't say enough great things about this place. The location! Just a block from the square! Very clean and good size room-- with a fireplace and a private patio (or balcony.) It is an oldie but goodie. The complex was very pretty and well kept, and not generic at all. Lots of outdoor seating great for socializing. And Starbucks coffee in the lobby 24/7! Good breakfast, too! Thanks for a very great stay!

Had a great stay here. Was given a very nice suite and it was one of the best hotels I've ever slept in.nice breakfast in the morning and a fire pit to sit around in the evening to enjoy the warm Sonoma evenings. Only draw back was that he neighbors were up using power tools a little too early. Overall a great visit.

    « Nightmare »

Very dissapointing as we had booked bed and breakfast. First morning breakfast was in a Mission Hall which was across the court yard and then a car park from the hotel. Second and third morning breakfast was in reception area of hotel no seats for people to sit at. People were walking about eating cereal and carrying hot drinks which was a health and safety issue in itself. So very dissapointed. Also the hotel charged us twice for the rooms

    « Perfect location, quiet night's stay »

We got a great deal through Travelzoo, for this hotel. The location is perfect, just off the plaza and close to all Sonoma city has to offer. The rooms are basically appointed, but the woodstove is a great addition to this room. The tub area (tiles and where wall connects) could be cleaned and re caulked, simply just to make the rooms look more "fresh". But that is really my only complaint. The hotel is quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. They offered gluten free bread at the breakfast that was very welcome. We stayed three nights and I would defiantly stay again. Our room was ground level near the office. Also, Internet and wifi were strong.

    4
« Great Place to Stay »

The location of this hotel is great. It is located within walking distance to Sonoma Square. Free wifi and breakfast each morning. Very good selection for breakfast. Whole Foods and CVS are located within walking distance. Rooms are quite large, a bit dated but clean. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. We did not use the pool or hot tub but they looked good.

« Stayed here several times »

Like all Best Westerns, they're clean and consistent in all their services. This one is very well located and offers easy walking access to most things the town has to offer. Always stay here when in Sonoma.

    « close to downtown »

The hotel was in excellent condition. Most of the staff was great and helpful. I would not stay in the handicap room again. It needs to meet federal guidelines for a handicap room. The court yard was above average and closeness to down town was great.

    « Tough Call »

This is a typical best Western in terms of furnishings and amenities, but it is showing its age and is in serious need of remodeling. The lobby and common areas are well kept, but the rooms really need basic maintenance and painting at a minimum--and that would only be a stop-gap. It could use a major overhaul inside and out. The rooms are spacious, though. There is a pool and a hot tub. The breakfast is adequate (there is protein available) but not particularly good. Service was uneven and not always too professional. The early morning/overnight desk attendant did provide excellent service. Wifi okay, but varied in strength. If you are on the first floor, you will hear every step taken in the room above you. Due to location (a short walk to Sonoma Plaza) and basic cleanliness, it gets three stars instead of two--but it's a wobbler. Recommended only if you get a strongly discounted rate.

« In the heart of town... »

Just a block from the square and a Whole Foods across the street! Comfortable beds, spacious (if somewhat dated) rooms, great service, nice pool and hot tub, and a steam room. There was a free, well attended yoga class in the morning (Friday) and free parking and wifi.

« In the heart of Sonoma »

Excellent Staff!! Laci, Paulee, Drew were excellent. Paulee extremely helpful in giving me the Hotel promotions for areas of the wine country. If you don't know, what you don't know....., then all the information Paulee shared was beneficial. Driving was easy to the wine country. Google Maps on my iphone worked great as my GPS around California. Rooms were excellent, nice pool area. I just missed the "USUAL" chocolate chip cookies and popcorn machine in the lobby that I find in many of the BW hotels. If I return to Sonoma, I will definately stay here.

« Nice hotel in the heart of Sonoma »

I always stay at least one or two nights a year in the off-season Can't afford the prices during peak season. The hotel is very nice a three minute walk from the center of Sonoma. Really nice Jacuzzi and if you're lucky to get one of the lower rooms you can walk out to the Jacuzzi. The staff is friendly and helpful and accommodating. Breakfast could be better but it's got the basic stuff you need. Rooms are large and fairly clean with a nice fireplace. The location is quiet and safe good room for parking and good for children and families too.

    « Central & good value »

We visited the Sonoma wine region off season and I also had a groupon coupon. We stayed in a room with 2 Queen beds, with fire place and overlooking the pool. Very friendly reception staff and room was fine with comfortable beds, a large bathroom with a separate sink area outside the bathroom. There was also a safe and fridge. My only gripe is that the heating/AC unit sounded like a jet engine - they need updating/replacing. Luckily it wasn't too cold and we had a fireplace. There is a nice outdoor pool and large hot tub that was clean and well maintained. They also offer breakfast included with room.

    4

    « Excellent »

I made the reservation 3 days earlier as we traveled to Oakland to visit our daughter. We had never visited Sonoma but were well aware of the significance of its history to California. We had a nice desk reception on a very rainy night (we're used to the rain, being from Eureka) and got settled in our room. With a map from the clerk we navigated our way by foot two blocks to the plaza and Murphy's Irish Pub in a paseo on the east side of the plaza. We shared a couple of hearty beers (Guinness Stout and Newcastle Ale with tastes of some hoppy beers to show my wife the hop flavor) and a couple of menu specials, delicious bangers and an Irish stew (lamb). Shops were closed ( a week night in January after all) so we returned to the nice warm dry room. I love the California style of architecture with spacious porches on both first and second floors. Friday morning after an excellent hot breakfast at the motel's buffet room, we spent the morning exploring the plaza some more after shopping at the Williams Sonoma outlet. A historical tour of Sonoma Barracks, where the republic of California was born, and Sonoma Mission, the last founded California Mission. After lunch at Swiss Hotel we stopped by the Visitors Bureau and got some more ideas for seeing the area and a couple of coupons for Basque Boulangerie (pastries), and Roche wine tasting. The wonderful lady at the visitor center recommended visiting Vella Cheese where they make several dry Jack cheeses which are similar in texture to Parmesan. We finished with a walking tour of General Vallejo's beautiful home on the outskirts of town.

    « Great Location! »

This is a great location just off the square in Sonoma within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The décor is a bit dated. Our room was clean. Many, if not all rooms have balconies. Some have hot tubs and fire places. The grounds of the hotel have several places to guests to gather and socialize. We enjoyed sitting around a fire pit chatting with our travel companions. There weren't many places to plug in electronics, especially bedside. Rooms include a refrigerator and no microwave. Breakfast is included, though it wasn't stellar. The coffee was cold on one morning. Friends traveling with us had problems with a noisy next door neighbor. Our suite above the event center had some road noise and faint disembodied voices from the vents in the bathroom. I recommend the 2nd floor and either a room on the rear of the hotel (214-220) or a suite (room 322-326) above the event center. The hotel is not 100% non-smoking and we had a fellow next door hanging out of his door smoking. The location is great and if you qualify, you may get a great room rate.

« Wonderful visit to Sonoma! »

This property is in a great location and is very nicely maintained. This was our first time in the area and I would highly recommend staying here. Our room which was on the 2nd floor in the corner was huge with a very comfortable king bed. There is a small workout room which is nice after all the wine sampling to work off some of those calories. We didn't get a chance to use the pool or spa, but they looked very nice. The breakfast that is provided is the best I've ever had. There are many choices available including scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (depending on the day), pancakes (never had seen a machine that automatically made them before), cereal including hot oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, pastries/toast/bagels, and beverages. The room that is used is very spacious and nicely decorated unlike many places where you are crammed into a portion of the lobby. There is also a nice patio area outside with a firepit making a very inviting atmosphere. We stayed in late February so before the busy tourism season - therefore, we had a great rate for our 2 night stay. The office staff were also very helpful in suggesting good wineries to tour/visit and also good places to eat. Very nice!

« Love the doggie welcome bag! »

Conveniently located, friendly staff and a wonderful doggie welcome bag complete with tennis ball, poo bags and "bone" dispenser, collapsible silicon bowl and canvas/rope "frisbee" all in a nice reusable tote made this a stress-free visit.

    « Friendly staff »

I typically stay at this hotel when I travel to Sonoma. Each visit we have had positive interactions with all staff. The rooms have been clean and the breakfast selections are limited, but I have always been satisfied. Prices in this area are very high during spring and summer, but other times of year they are fair.

« Great location and price in Downtown Sonoma »

For the price it was great. Great location; short walk to the Sonoma square and right across the street from Whole foods. Nice home base to come to after driving out to other wineries or to walk if we just wanted to stay in town. Our room was quiet and clean and the "fireplace room" we stayed in was plenty spacious. The breakfast was adequate. A small laundry room with free washers and dryers was a nice addition. The grounds were lovely and well maintained. I enjoyed the tables out in the center with a fire lit every night. The pool noise was slightly annoying at times, but never too late at night. I would recommend it

« Great Room, Poor Desk Staff »

This is my 2nd stay & review of this hotel. The 1st stay approx 2 yrs ago was spectacular & I reviewed it that way giving it a 5* review. While our room on this occasion (a king w/fireplace) in the main building was very nice & included a small couch near the fireplace to sit & sip wine. The fireplace comes with a fire log, 1 per each night free of charge & additional logs can be purchased ($4-5). The logs seem to last about 2 hours give or take. The breakfast as previously reviewed was very nice & included bacon or sausage, eggs, coffee etc. in a very spacious area. FYI, the breakfast is served in the rear building of the property so there is a little walk (maybe 75-100 yards) & while it was not an issue for our party I thought I would mention it for those who might have mobility issues. There is no restaurant on site but the city plaza that is surrounded with restaurants is just 2 short blocks away & should be easily walk able for most guests. Also they do have a laundry facility that is free to use for guests with laundry soap available for $1.00, the vending machine wasn't working during our stay & when I called the front desk about it, they said they knew it wasn't working but i guess were too busy or lazy to put a sign on it to that effect. The reason for the 3* rating during our current visit can be contributed directly to the front desk staff, problems checking in with rooms not being ready, uniformed desk staff, problems checking out with mixed up credit cards. Just the entire interaction with the staff left a sour taste in our mouths.

    4
« All in all, pretty good »

This Best Western is very convenient located, close to numerous restaurants and the downtown and Plaza sights. It had good parking and easy access in and out. The best things were the front desk crew - always accommodating and willing to help - Dan on the night shift was especially helpful; the breakfast, though a walk through the parking lot and same day after day (could you throw some red and green peppers in the scrambled eggs from time to time?) which was kept clean and stocked, and its staff which genuinely cared how you liked things; and, the location. The more marginal things were just signs of aging - old paint, etc., and the occasional noise from the common area inside the ring of rooms. All in all, though, about right for the price, though I wouldn't pay too much more for this hotel.

    4
« Comfort & convenience in Wine Country »

Stayed here in one of the very spacious Jacuzzi suites for 3 nights whilst my wife & I toured the Napa & Sonoma Valleys. The room was spacious & had a very small kitchenette. Bathroom facilities were good - particularly loved the double basin so we weren't crashing into each other all the time. We enjoyed spending time on the balcony each afternoon, sipping wine and watching the sun set whilst debriefing on our day's travels. It's a short walk into the centre of Sonoma from the Best Western - convenient for those evenings out when you want to enjoy a few more beverages than you otherwise would if you were driving. One of our few gripes. The suite didn't feel 100% clean. More dusty than dirty. But nothing that would prevent an enjoyable stay.

    4
« Overall, good quality for the price »

This hotel served it purpose for what we were looking for in all areas except one, the fitness room. The guest room was spacious and clean and the breakfast included a decent variety. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. My only disappointment with this hotel was the fitness center. It had only one treadmill, one stationary bike, and a weight machine that did not work because an essential part was missing. If you plan to get in a good workout, hope that nobody else is planning the same thing!

    « Disappointment »

There are much nicer places to stay in Sonoma for the same cost...This place needs to retrain their staff in hospitality and to upgrade their facilities and furnishings. The location was somewhat misrepresented as "on the plaza" when it was really a few streets off the plaza - which for the 85+ year olds i was traveling with was not workable.

    5
    « Wine Country Wow »

Excellent value for the money, walk right into downtown Sonoma, great staff. Rooms overlook the pool courtyard, but at night it was very quiet. Breakfast was pretty standard, but you can enjoy it by the firepit outside. Terrific time here.

    « Beautiful stay »

I've been to multiple Best Westerns and this is definitely one of the nicer ones. The beds are huge, every bathroom has a heater, and there was a fire place in our room. The pool is a lovely space, and they do morning yoga by the pool some days, which I was very upset that I didn't get to attend. The breakfast is served in a second space that includes an outside firepit which was nice to enjoy very early in the morning. The only reason I rate it very good rather than terrific, is the fact that the breakfast was underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the stay.

    5
« Wonderful place to stay »

We loved this hotel. The location is perfect--one block from the plaza and within walking distance to all the wonderful shops and restaurants in Sonoma. The hotel has a nice choice of types of rooms--we had a room with a fireplace and that was big--it had a huge bathroom and had a couch in addition to the king size bed. The bed was comfortable, the furniture nice, towels and bedding of very good quality. One of the nicest things about this hotel is the private patio or balcony. Weather in Sonoma can be quite lovely and sitting on the balcony was great. The hotel also has a nice pool area, a jacuzzi, and even has yoga by the pool three mornings a week. The breakfast room is big and in a detached building--the breakfast was quite extensive. The hotel and our room was very clean, the staff was friendly, and the parking was good. There is even a nice small shopping center across the street with a Whole Foods store. We will be back!

The rooms are comfortable, clean, and conveniently located a block from the famous "plaza" of downtown Sonoma. The best part of this hotel is the free laundry! Yes, residents are provided free use of clothes washers and dryers. Just pay for the detergent. Extraordinary! The breakfast is standard fare for this kind of lodging - lots of carbos to enjoy but they did run out of my favorite - hard boiled eggs.

« Large room with fireplace »

Came here in dead of winter to get some writing done. The rooms are good-sized, with a nice bonus of a fireplace. Hot tub and pool are great for relaxing. Shopping center across the street adds convenience.

    « Fantastic stay for a getaway! »

Sonoma Vally Inn was a fantastic place to stay while in Sonoma! The value was tremendous! The whole property was clean and very comfortable. The amenities were fantastic. We got to enjoy a fireplace in our room, a wonderful hot tub in their pool area, a great pool, and a tasty complementary breakfast! The location was very close to the town square, where it was great to see wine tasting venues as well as quaint shops and great restaurants! Fantastic place, friendly and professional staff, and an all out fun place to stay. Again, a very good value!

« Good deal in an expensive area. »

This BW is a pretty good motel in a very good location. We were only there for one night and didn't use most of the amenities like the pool/spa/steam room. We did burn the cute 'lil Presto log in the fireplace, which was pleasant. Overall, this motel is a good deal. Housekeeping was not great. There were fingerprints of black soot (from the fireplace?) on the inside of the door. I washed them off with a tissue and water, but still...

    « Nice getaway »

Really enjoyed my stay at Best Western Drug Center in Sonoma. The room was nice and quiet. The breakfast was very good. And staff was polite and helpful, gave us a good tip on a barbeque restaurant we really enjoyed. I also enjoyed the jacuzzi and steam room at the end of the evening.

« Nice place to stay! »

Nice place to stay and great location! Right across the street Cvs ,restaurants in walking distance, and shopping!!! Loved the Spa and it was open til 10:00pm. Wine tasting with in a few blocks too:) We would stay here again

    « great time »

we had a really good time, rooms were clean and the staff were very nice and went out of their way to give advice. The breakfast was pretty good. Loved the location. The hot tub could have been hotter though.

    « A wonderful surprise! »

This place was great! When I booked, I didn't share with much excitement, but when we checked-in and went into our room we were shocked. It's a beautiful hotel for the price and wonderful location. Plus, the free breakfast in the morning is great. Not your typical free "breakfast" from hotels. Definitely recommend this place when staying in Sonoma.

    « Romantic and affordable »

My wife and I stayed at this inn and thought it was great. The location was next to everything. We purchased a groupon which includes two wine taste and a olive oil tasting as well. It was worth the $93 bucks for the night. Lots of restaurants close by. The vineyards was just 10 minutes away with some awesome scenery for pictures. A heated pool and a large hot tub was right outside our room. Loved it. Fire place was in the room also but additional log was $4. One log provided. It only last 2 hours, not cool lol. Other than that, we had a great time. Check in and out was easy as 1, 2, 3.

    « Nice place »

Our room was 133 very good location. Close to the jacuzzi and check in office. The room has a small balcony with 2 chairs and a small table and a gate that leads to the jacuzzi. The room was clean and big, the bathroom also a good size. We really enjoy our stay. The breakfast not very good, the eggs were watery and disgusting looking. Very good location, we walked everywhere.

« Budget motel, clean rooms, convenient location »

This is really a budget motel and was priced accordingly. But it was clean and offered a budget breakfast. Enjoyed the hot tub area. One evening the pool towel storage locker wouldn't unlock. Had to go to reception to get towels and while they were aware, they hadn't put a sign stating to come to reception. The fireplace and log was nice on the chilly evenings however the log gave off a very strong chemical smell - almost like the fireplace flue wasn't open, however the sign stated they were open. Central location in Sonoma. CFL lighting in the room made it feel rather cold.

    « Great Value »

Walking distance to all downtown Sonoma locations. The Best Western was clean, had guest laundry available and was a good no frills, motel style option. A great location! We would stay again if in the area.

« Quality sleep, very convenient locatio »

Have stayed here a couple of times now when visiting Sonoma friends. The hotel is well maintained, has a comfy bed and pillows. My room had a fireplace and one Duraflame log per day was complimentary. Nice to fall asleep to the cozy fire. Location is good both because it is less than two blocks to the plaza with its restaurants and browsing opportunities, and just across the street from a Whole foods. Will stay there again.

« Great hotel & super pet friendly! »

We had a great stay at the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn. We ended up booking the hotel the night of from our Hotel Tonight app due to an unfortunate Airbnb experience. The beds were so comfortable! I got some of the best sleep I had on our whole trip. The grounds were clean. I was super impressed with their dog area. It can be tough to find a good spot while on vacation to walk the dog so this was a nice feature. Water pressure is good. The fire place adds to the ambiance. I was SUPER bummed I didn't have a bathing suit with me. Bring one with you! It was so cold outside that I would have loved to use the hot tub and steam room! But it gives me an excuse to go back ;-) The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great stay!

« Great Location - Great Pet Accomodations »

The hotel is just a block away from the Plaza and walking distance to shops, stores and restaurants. Staff is great and helpful. Pets are welcomed guests and treated as such. Have always stayed at this hotel each trip to Sonoma and will continue to stay here.

« Excellent Place to stay in Lovely Sonoma »

Lovely place to stay in beautiful sonoma. The room we stayed in was nice and large however the view out the window was blocked by the stairs going to the second floor but that didn't really matter. The pool area is small but nice, the spa was great to relax in after a drive. We received free breakfast but this can be missed as it isn't that great. Overall would easily stay here again, it is in walking distance of the town and whole foods is across the road.

« The Bathroom Situation Ruins It All »

Not being a big bathroom-guy, it's unusual for me to rate a place based on the bathroom area. However, my wife is a huge bathroom person. She doesn't really care what the room is like, the bathroom is what makes or breaks it for her. The rooms are dated and worn with insufficient lighting. The vanity area totally blocks the entrance to the shower/toilet area (which is fairly large). Oh, that's not to mention the closet door is right in the middle of this whole mess. NOT a good situation. This is NOT a budget place being SEVERAL blocks away from the plaza in Sonoma. It's only redeeming feature is all of the first floor rooms open onto the pool area. I would not stay here again unless I ABSOLUTELY have to. Salute!

    « What a great find! »

We had a lovely stay at this dog friendly hotel. It's centrally located, a 5 minute walk to the main square, with the added bonus of a fireplace and mini log to return to on a rainy winter night. A full size log would have meant a longer, more enjoyable experience. There was a small patch of lawn to walk your dog and the room was clean. There were obvious signs of wear with the carpet but with the free breakfast (by no means gourmet) all in all it was a great value.

« Poor Response to Issues »

I stayed at the hotel for more than a week during the Thanksgiving holiday while visiting family. The door lock on my first room malfunctioned. The key card did not work each night I returned to the hotel. I had to go to the front lobby each night to get new key cards. By the the third day, I asked for 3 key cards, all of which failed. I asked for a new room, but due to wedding, I was told there were no rooms available despite the fact I had booked my room 3 months in advance. After the third night, I asked for another room again and was offered one. I packed up all my clothes and belongings and moved to another room. Very inconvenient. Upon check out, the front desk clerk did not even ask how my stay went or if everything was okay. I was not offered an upgrade or any refund for the trouble and inconvenience. Breakfast is mediocre and located in another building in the back of parking lot behind the hotel. I recommend going out for breakfast. The hotel coffee is weak, eggs are powered, the bacon looks and tastes like plastic, the orange juice is watered down. Altogether an awful breakfast. I travel much for work and I would not recommend a stay at this hotel. If you do, get a room on the first floor as getting upstairs to the second level is very inconvenient due to the hotel's poor design. Parking is an issue as well, there is not enough spaces around the outside of the building and getting to the rear parking lot is a long walk if you are on the second floor.

    « Great hotel »

Stayed one night at Best Western Sonoma Valley when we where in town for a wine tour in the Sonoma valley. Nice staff, clean and tidy reception and proper-sized rooms. We asked for three beds in our room, but this was not possible. Instead we got two separate rooms next to each other with the same size for no extra charge, good service! Location is good, close to the city centre.

    « Unclean Room! »

I'm very dissatisfied about the cleanliness of Room 217 when I checked in on November 28, 2015. I usually bring my own disinfectant to do a quick cleaning if necessary. In the bathroom, there were lots of hair in the bathtub. Upon looking underneath the soap dish in the shower, it full of black molds, and it was very disgusting! Looking under the rim of the toilet, it too was filled with black molds! I can only imagine if the bathroom floor was cleaned. I did my own cleaning of the bathroom, and I'm sure the cleaning lady found a black face towel that used to be whit which I used to wipe down the bathroom with my disinfectant. Right under the edge of the bed I saw what appeared to be a prescription pill. That tells me that the carpet was not vaccumed properly if it was even done at all! The fireplace has not been cleaned for a while, and it was full of soot!

Stay was wonderful. Fireplace in room was a great feature, but not used. Refrigerator hidden in Bathroom lavatory cabinet was nor found until just before checkout. Needed at least one very soft down pillow.

« Two night get away from SF »

The staff here were great. Very helpful in helping us choose a good and quiet room. We went for second story so no one would be over us. Breakfast was typical Best Western fare, but it was included with the room. This is not a luxury hotel, just a very nice Best Western motel conveniently located located just a block from the Sonoma square. A wonderfully relaxing two days away.

« Loved the cozy room and fire »

Perfectly accommodated us. Good location, can walk to CVS and whole foods. Downtown a couple blocks away. Loved the fire in the room, was perfect for a November night! Breakfast was average, but no complaints. Added bonus was free laundry machine to use.

    « Noisy guests »

We paid a lot of money to be put below what seemed like the service entrance. People were tromping around up stairs until 12am and started again at 5:30 am. This was not very relaxing or restful. I was really looking forward to sleeping in past 5:30 am. I was extremely disappointed.

    5
« Great place..... Beds too soft though »

I really enjoy my time here except for when it comes to getting any sleep. All the beds are supposedly new, but they ALL have pillow-top mattresses. They were too mushy for my comfort. I had to sleep with one of their pillows under my body to feel level on the bed (not in a hole). I really love the breakfast offer. It helps not having to wake up early to go get something to eat before I have to be at my appointments or start my leisure activities. Food tastes good and excellent service provided by staff in the dining room too.

« Close to Square, Very Affordable and Nice »

Very affordable, close to Sonoma Square. The property looks kind of old, but the rooms are very spacious, comfortable and clean. We definitely would stay here again the next time we travel to the Sonoma/Napa Valley area.

    « Great hotel »

We stayed here for one night while attending a friend's wedding at a nearby winery. While we were only at the hotel for one night, our stay was wonderful. The hotel staff were very friendly and the property was well kept. We enjoyed swimming in the heated pool on a November afternoon. Would definitely stay here again if we're in Sonoma.

    « Perfect »

My boyfriend and I are currently on a road trip from San Fransisco to San Diego and stayed at this hotel a few nights ago. When originally planning we looked at this hotel and were going to pay full price, but ended up getting a groupon for approximately 140$ for one night. This deal included wine tastings at Cline and Jacuzzi wineries. The location of this hotel is perfect. There is a Whole Foods and CVS directly across the street and a gas station and 7/11 on the corner. It takes maybe 4 minutes to walk to the main strip with all of the shops. There is also a pool, steam room, and a hot tub which we enjoyed in the evening. They also have several types of coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the lobby and fires burning outside at night time. In the morning they have a continental breakfast available. This hotel definitely would have been worth it even if we did pay the normal rate. Last night we stayed in Santa Monica and I paid (455$) for a room that was not even half as nice as the one we had at the Best Western Sonoma.

    « Ideal Location »

You couldn't ask for a better location in Sonoma. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from all the action in the Sonoma Plaza. Lots of great shops and restaurants to pass along the way. Only wish the bedding was nicer. Otherwise, great experience. Would definitely return.

    5
    « Perfect Location »

This was the best location that we could have picked for the price. The room and pool area was clean, staff was friendly, and the breakfast was GOOD! It was also walking distance to a lot of good restaurants, so that when we were done driving for the day, we could walk wherever we wanted to eat or shop.

« Needs to be cleaner and also needs updating, though the location is very good. »

The bathroom floor was not clean and there were cobwebs in the corners of the room. The furniture was a bit battered and in need of updating. The hotel bills itself as a luxury hotel, but didn't seem to have the extras one would normally find in one. However, on the positive side, the location is very good.

    « Great hotel »

My parents and my husband really enjoyed staying in this hotel! The location is perfect across a big grocery shop and CVS . Walking distance to Sonoma Centre. The rooms were really big and clean. My parents stayed at the ground floor with a small patio where you can enter easily the poolside. We also had a open fire in the room and that was really cosy. I loved the big bathroom. The pool is quite big and they have really nice sun beds along the pool. There is also a nice big Jacuzzi. And there is a steam room. I could stay here longer then 2 nights. If you like you also can enjoy yoga at the pool in the morning. Really a nice service. The breakfast was included and they served oat meal, yoghurt, waffles, bagels, muffins and there was a toaster. Staff was very friendly at check inn and in the morning fresh coffee and tea at the reception. We would like to come back and stay even little bit longer.

    « Perfect location »

Stayed at this hotel because we were attending a wedding nearby. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Sonoma Plaza, where there are many shops and restaurants. Rooms are large and the decor is nice, but the bathrooms need an update. Complementary breakfast was included, which was a time saver. Pass on toasting anything....worlds slowest toaster. Price for the Friday-Saturday we stayed was outrageous, but had no choice as it was one of the last rooms in the area at the time we booked.

    « Loved this property! »

What a terrific choice for our three days in Sonoma! Let me begin by sending major kudos to Laci, one of the hotel employees. Laci works in customer service at the hotel. I was traveling with a friend and we only had two days so we needed to be purposeful about our winery visits. Each morning, we spent some time with Laci advising her of our preferences, asking questions, suggesting routes, and her recommendations were perfect- and perfectly keyed to what we wanted. I cannot say enough about her knowledge of the area and commitment to helping us enjoy our vacation. Cheers to you, Laci! The hotel itself was in an excellent location, just a block away from the square. It was also across the street from Whole Foods, so we were able to just run over if we needed a quick bite. The rooms were more comfortable than we expected- a good size, fireplace, balcony. The bathrooms were particularly spacious, with a sink outside the toilet/shower area, but still separated enough from the sleeping area to not feel claustrophobic. The room was clean, the morning breakfast comprehensive and sufficient. All in all, highly recommend.

This hotel is just two blocks from the central square in Sonoma where everything eminates from. We had one of the family rooms which had counter area, a refrigerator, sink and microwave. Comfortable bed

« Great place to stay at »

This hotel is the best place to stay at, you are treated wonderful and the rooms and service are fantastic. The breakfast and exercise room are great also. Location is so central to all places that I needed to be at. I cannot tell you how great the experience was I am coming back again

    « Good facilities »

Fairly standard rooms, slightly dated but comfortable. Good small, private deck gives access to decent pool, hot tub and steam rooms. Most front desk staff are friendly and efficient. Free laundry, computer access etc makes it very convenient, as does its location, close to Plaza and shopping mall. Downside is poor breakfast, 2 very slow toasters just not adequate. Not cheap but fair value

    « Best Location! »

This is a great Best Western property! I enjoyed my stay and LOVED the fact that it's just one block to the historic plaza and those amazing restaurants, wineries and shops! The remodeled room was very nice and really big compared the average CA hotel room. Great friendly service and they are dog friendly!

    4
« Be ready for high rates »

For the amount of money we paid (standard for the area) I was really disappointed in the breakfast the hotel offered. During evening hours we had to run a lot of water before it became hot. Hotel is within walking distance of great restaurants.

« Great Access to Sonoma Square »

Great location and a helpful staff. Our room was extra spacious with a small kitchen type area. The walk to the Sonoma square was pleasant and brief. Well adorned to make the walk very pleasant. Nice breakfast and the event center. Lovely location in wine country.

« Noisey & dark but still a good stay »

Cons: Unless you're a heavy sleeper be preparred for the sound of slamming doors, suitcase wheels and passers by gasbagging through the night - the walls are thin! Our room had 3 lamps but no main lights and only 1 small window - I'm not a mole so that was a little annoying. Breakfast might be complimentary but don't bother - its nothing short of bland! Pros : Lovely bathroom Really clean and large rooms! Brilliant location Hot tub and Steam room was a great touch which we really enjoyed after our long day or travelling! Really friendly staff who were keen to help.

    « Always good »

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. We were lucky go get a room at the last minute and staff was very helpful. Room nice and clean and was nice stroll to Sonoma square. Breakfast offered nice choice of protein which is different than most plus they had a lovely outside patio which was wonderful to enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee.

« Just what I was looking for. »

    « California Vacation »

Hotel is large and quiet in the back we paid for a premium room but i think any room would have been okay. they do not offer breakfast but give you a coupon to eat at the resturant next door. The breakfast was not bad. It works well for a stop over on our way to Yosemite

« Perfect location, pricey on fall weekends »

Located a block or so from the downtown plaza, this is an easy walk to restaurants, bars, shops, convenience stores, etc. Our second-floor room had a balcony overlooking the pool. Room with two double beds was spacious by today's standards and nicely furnished. This is an older property that has received upgrades, such as new lavatories and some bathroom fixtures. The heat pump (AC/heat) went off automatically when we left room, so room was too warm upon returning, though it cooled fairly quickly. The complimentary breakfast in the breakfast room was great - scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruits, breads, yogurt, etc. When served in the lobby, it was minimal with hardly any place to sit. Staff members were all gracious and aimed to please. Priced at more than $400/night (including taxes and "assessments") on Fridays and Saturdays in September, I can't say it was a great value. For that we have stayed in far superior hotels in Manhattan, but there doesn't seem to be much competition among hotels in Sonoma.
