    « Excellent find »

Brilliant hotel in a great location. 10 mins drive from the NEC. Staff really helpful and pleasant. We are in the bar and the food was really nice. Breakfast was excellent. Nicely laid out room with lots of space. Very good waiting staff and the choice of food on offer was faultless. Our room was very clean, comfortable bed and the best pillow I have had in any hotel I have stayed in. Couldn't fault anything. If I was bring really picky I would possibly suggest better heating in the bathroom, but would definitely not put me off staying again and recommending. Very convenient for the centre of Birmingham as well.

« Good hotel for a short stay, staff very helpful »

We were visiting the hotel as I had bought my husband tickets for the classic car show at the NEC for his 50th birthday. I booked through Booking.com and paid a month before arriving at the hotel, adding my husbands name to the booking before we went in case he needed to put anything on the room tab. However when we went to book in the receptionist said that the room had not been paid for! This was extremely embarrassing as we had a queue of people behind us and spoilt my trip as I then had to try to see what had happened. The receptionist was very understanding and said not to worry and she would try to see what had happened her end. It turned out that Booking.com had produced a second bill in my husbands name when I added his name on which was why it showed unpaid! I was very grateful that the receptionist had taken the time and trouble to rectify this on my behalf and sort out the problem. At least someone knows how to do their job properly Booking.com ! Anyway, back to the hotel, the room was clean and tidy and comfortable but in the hallways and stairs area the carpet was threadbare and looked as if they needed replacing. Breakfast was hot, service was good and there was a good range but we were a bit disappointed that we could not have an evening meal as we were told that we needed to book the day before for this. Would use this hotel again but would book direct next time thanks for the help

We chose this hotel as we were going to the Classic Car Show at the NEC. The staff were all friendly and helpful and made our stay most enjoyable. We dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent.

« Terrible food and terrible service at reception »

I have visited for 1 night and although the room is OK my experience with reception and the food i received can only be described as terrible. I do not feel that i would ever visit this hotel again and struggle to understand how it is rated as a 4 star hotel?

« Pleasant hotel for a weekend stay. Good location. »

Stayed at this Best Western plus for two nights to attend an event at the NEC. Room was clean, spacious and well equipped (larger TV than most places I've stayed recently and free Wi-Fi). The lock was missing from the bathroom door, but as I had a room to myself didn't matter. Was surprised the hotel doesn't appear to have a lift as the room was upstairs and quite a distance from Reception which seemed further with luggage. Staff helpful with checking in and information. Ate in restaurant Saturday night, bit of a wait as busy (as I would expect on a Saturday), food good, portions large. Good location for touring this area as not far to NEC, Coventry, Birmingham. Nice foodie pubs nearby too.

« Great hotel, great food, lovely staff. S »

Stayed here for one night before the NEC the next day, arrived about 5, check in was fast and efficient, the room wasn't large but clean warm and comfortable, we were booked into the restraunt at 7.30, shown straight to our table, the staff we really friendly and helpful, the menu is not large but there was something for everyone, when the food came it was delicious, really tasty. The breakfast again wasn't the widest range of choice I've seen but was hot and tasty, especially the sausages not processed uniform sausages but good meaty butcher sausages, will definately stay here again.

« Was good, just not eggcelent. »

A friend and i stayed in October for 2 nights as we where attending a concert at the NEC. Room price was very cheap as this was done as a staff rate, due to being a worker for Best Western. Room seemed clean, however there was a lot of dust in the air, this set my friends allergies off and she spent both nights sneezing. It had everything that we needed for a 2 night stay. Was very large and spacious, however very outdated, the first time in a very long time that i have seen a trouser press still functional in a hotel. There was a function on the Sunday night that we stayed, and the only way that this effected us was the limited parking spaces, but no noise disturbance. The reason for the title of this review is because there was an awful eggy smell coming from the bathroom, and if you left the bathroom door open to air it out, it made the whole room smelly, but if you left the door shut the smell was then unbearable when you entered the bathroom. I completely understand that these things do happen, however this was not a smell that had appeared from the last time housekeeping would have serviced the room to when we stayed. Night staff was very friendly when we had an issue with our room key. We only had breakfast on the last morning of our stay, lots to offer, however most things where empty, but that is our fault for leaving it till 9.15am to come down for breakfast. Hotel was a close drive to everything that we needed. Would return again in the future.

« Okay but could have been better »

I stayed here just for 1 night for a business trip in Coventry. Parking was tight when I pulled up and it was also packed, car was parked in like a sardine. Went to the front desk to check in, the hotel lobby was nice and quaint but rather dated, the reception guy was very nice but didn't know about my allowance for food and drink set by my company so had to tell him and he took my word for it, (Luckily I didn't take the mick with this) The walk to my room down the dark and gloomy halls was long and I thought at one point I was going round in circles. Room was nice enough I guess, nice size TV and bed was comfy enough, the bathroom was nice and clean and no stains anywhere that I could see. I used the ironing board and trouser presser so they were useful and worked well. Now a couple of things I was not impressed with at all, my heating didn't work no matter what I did to it, I called down the first time and was told to do this and do that and then to leave it to work, did all that still didn't work. I called down later on because I needed a bath robe and a shaving kit ( I had forgot mine) was told shaving kit is fine, no to the robe, as they were for executive rooms only, but I could buy one if I wanted....Fair enough. One thing I was very happy about was the WIFI, this was free and worked great, and seeing as I couldn't get any service (3 user) this was very handy, Ordered some room service later on and went over by a couple of pounds on my allowance as I wouldn't have been able to afford one drink otherwise, food was prompt and tasted fine. Few hours later when I was almost asleep, the phone rang and the kitchen said I needed to come and pay for the room service charge (£4) best to say I was not pleased that I was called at almost Midnight in regards to £4 and told them I would pay it in the morning when I checked out - to which I was replied with "No sir it needs to be paid now" rude and pathetic for £4. I said take it over the phone and let me get to sleep (later on I found they had taken more then £4) I also mentioned while I was on the phone that the heating was still not working and I was freezing, they said they would send someone straight up. 30 mins later still nobody so I just went to sleep cold. Woke up for breakfast freezing, and went downstairs, no signs or direction to breakfast and a massive queue to check out so I walked around until I found the breakfast hall and sat and had some breakie, food was good and lots too choose from so I'll give them that. The staff were polite and called me sir and offered Tea and Coffee so those standards were as good as expected. All in all, defiantly not a 4 star hotel maybe a 3 at best, I have stayed at other 4 star hotels which have accommodated me a bit better, I would stay here again but at a push, as I heard they get a lot of car break in's and there is a dodgy council estate next door. Plus I was worried about someone banging into my car all night. Advice to the General Manager - if one of your staff says they will do something, make sure they follow through with it. Being cold at night would annoy anyone. Perhaps some staff over the age of 18 would help also.

« Perfect for airport and parking clean and comfortable »

We stayed at this hotel on 21 October just one night on our way to Birmingham airport. We chose this hotel as we were able to leave our car in the secure, barriered car park for the duration of our holiday plus it was exceptionally good value overall. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, bedrooms plenty large enough with tea and coffee making facilities. I was delighted to find biscuits on the tea tray!! The hotel is not too fancy, no airs and graces but staff are very friendly throughout from reception to bars and restaurant staff. There is a grill style restaurant with a bar and a more formal dining restaurant with a bar just outside. We chose to dine more formally and were not disappointed by the well presented pleasant meal. This hotel is perfect for an over night stay for the airport, a taxi transfer was included in the price, as was our collection from the airport on our return. The journey takes around ten to fifteen minutes and drops off just outside your chosen terminal. All together a very enjoyable stay. We will use this hotel again if we need to fly from Birmingham. Would recommend it.

    « OK but disappointing. »

Stayed here for 2 nights in order to visit NEC which is only 10 minutes away. First problem was a mix-up over our booking but the friendly reception staff resolved (but didn't explain) this. Room was very good with a large comfortable bed, good TV and clean en-suite. The hotel was very noisy until late and from early morning, mainly due to poor soundproofing. The noise was mainly doors banging, bins being moved and pipes/showers/loos. Double glazing would help but the noises from inside the hotel present a bigger problem. We will not be using this hotel again but will probably continue to use Best Western who have other hotels in this area.

« Excellent hotel, lovely staff »

Arrived early morning for a day at the NEC. As we were not coming back until very late in the evening they arranged for rooms to be made available early. A nice touch. Much appreciated. The quality of the hotel is very high in both rooms and public areas and the breakfast quite acceptable. Would recommend staying here for the NEC as it is only a short taxi ride away.

    « 'Comedy of Errors!' »

On arrival Thurs evening) they had no record of our booking despite the fact that we had booked in June for this November stay.......good job we had printed confirmation! However Kay , the reception Manager dealt professionally and quickly with the problem and rectified this for us. The room was clean, well lit and with a comfy bed. The section of the hotel we were in had lift access and was quiet. We ate in the Houston bar on the Thursday night where the staff were helpful and the service good. The food was excellent. Breakfast on the Friday morning was in the main dining room, the staff were attentive and pleasant and the food was once again of a good standard with plenty of choice.... both continental and cooked choices (sausages lovely). At this stage we would give the hotel five stars and have to be very picky to find fault..............HOWEVER At 11.0pm approx on the Thursday night the fire alarm went off...intermittently several times....no continuous tone and after much deliberation by us and several guests we evacuated the building to the car park. There was no direction from the hotel staff, no instruction, no marshaling and basically it was free for all! Eventually we were told when we could return and only the people on the floors affected by smoke were given tea and coffee even though we had all been stood outside in the cold. Very poor organisation by staff...they need some fire training and the alarm attending to. Friday morning breakfast was the complete opposite to Thursday in terms of staff service and attention to detail. The table we were given had not been laid properly. tea and coffee had to be asked for as were teaspoons, butter and plates, The dirty plates were not removed from the table and the staff gave the impression the whole job was just a chore to them. The service of the room on the Friday was OK apart from one of the clean bath towels (unused) being removed and not replaced , hence we were left for no reason with only one bath towel! Reception brought us another but it took a good half hour...good job we realised before getting in the shower!! Friday evening we ate in the Houston bar again having made the reservation the night before when we were in....but guess what...they had once again no record of the reservation! and even though it was the same shift leader and he had taken the booking, the service was appalling. Our food took over 30 mins to arrive and the staff were complacent in their manner. Overall the hotel in nice, clean and well situated but we feel that some staff need a lot in the way of training in customer service, as they are letting the hotel down, and more attention should be paid to the small things that matter.Other staff members on the other hand are a credit to the hotel. Depending on the price/deal that could be arranged would reflect on whether we stayed here again. Our star rating falls to a four as we were very disappointed with the issues we experienced and the 'errors' we encountered, and hope that our comments are taken on board by management.

    « Lovely hotel for a wedding »

My partner and I stayed overnight for his sons wedding everything was wonderful but for goodness sake employ some different bar staff. The two boys had definitely not taken their happy pills. The rest of the hotel staff however were great.

    « Noisy »

Very nice hotel lovely room but have to say we had to be up for 5am and courtyard outside our window music playing till midnight and group of people out there a making a lot of noise and it's now 12.47am will complain before we leave not happy at all.

« Pleasant staff, spacious room, less than average food »

The title sums it up. We had a two night stay ( stay play with Warwick Castle). The staff at the hotel were very welcoming and always polite. Excellent customer service. The room was lovely and spacious with everything you would expect from a hotel room- big beds, clean sheets, enough pillows ( bit too warm if you are not used to sleeping with the heating on). The en suite was a decent size but the shower needed a thorough scrub- if you can wipe the shower scum from the grout with your own finger, then it demonstrates that that the shower only gets a quick rinse between client changes. We ordered room service one night and were very underwhelmed by the quality. Breakfast was what you would expect from any average b+b (apart from the sausages which were lovely) some of the fruit was from tins, the selection wasn't anything different- cereal, fry up, pastries, toast etc. Nice but average. I won't rush to stay there again.

    « Overnight Stay »

Hubby and I stayed her for one night whilst attending the Genting Arena in Birmingham. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and arranged a taxi for us immediately on request. The room was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and quiet and the breakfast the following morning was to die for!! We arrived at breakfast 20 mins before the close of service and there was still lots of food of very good quality. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Nice hotel »

We stayed here for one night for a family trip. We were visiting Warwick castle but it was a bit of a trek, would stay nearer next time. Reception staff very friendly and very clean and tidy hotel. Rooms well equipped apart from a terrible hairdryer (definitely take your own) Nice large tv and wifi and iron etc. The bathroom we had was tired looking which was a shame as the rest of the room was nice. (Lamp didn't work though) Was a good hotel for the price. Car parking fine. Not many otherfacilities but that is reflected in the cost. Would recommend if you were looking for somewhere in that area.

« Nice hotel but a little warm! »

I stayed in this hotel in July 2016 on business. The hotel is about a mile from the "centre of England" monument in a nice village setting. I am unsure as to whether the hotel has been extended or if the current configuration is as built but it is quite a large building with several wings. The check in area is quite small but I was seen to fairly quickly and given good instructions on how to get to the room which was some distance away. The common areas were all clean and to a high standard although it did feel a bit jumbled up in places as you had to walk through the bar and dining area to get to the wing of the hotel where my room was. The room itself was very comfortable and quite spacious with all the usual amenities including a fairly good sized television and mirror. My view was quite limited as it was on a side of the building blocked by a row of trees and a path but it was very quiet which is always a plus point for me. The only real downside to this room was the lack of any air conditioning. There was a fan in the room but as with all of these things, it was incredibly loud which made sleeping quite difficult. The window opened but when it's already really hot outside it doesn't make much of a difference. The bathroom was of a good standard, no evidence of mould or poor cleaning and definitely useable without any complaints. I had room service which was acceptable, the waiting time was approx. 15 minutes and I can't fault the food but presume the restaurant would've been a better option if I had the time to spend in there. Would I stay here again? I probably would as it's very good access to Birmingham Business Park which is where I needed to be the following morning (approximately 10 minutes drive). The air conditioning issue in the summer is a concern though so I would probably check elsewhere first if visiting in Summer again.

    « Superb Park & Ride »

Easy access to Birmingham Airport, this is a brilliant hotel with excellent food. They regularly seem to do special rates for park & ride and provide an outstanding service. Room was large and comfortable, all staff were pleasant and polite and the breakfast was superb. Whilst we have only used this hotel as a p & r facility I feel sure the Manor would be a splendid base for touring the area.

« First night of honeymoon spoiled »

We stayed here the day after our wedding and booked 1 night with parking whilst we were abroad for the week. We can't fault the taxi service to Birmingham airport as they were fab. They dropped us off with no problems and were at the airport on our return within 5 minutes of our call. The hotel however left a lot to be desired. Unbeknown to us at the time, our friends had called several weeks before our wedding and paid to upgrade our room to the bridal suite along with prosecco, a card and chocolates to be there for us on arrival. When we originally booked, the hotel offered us an upgrade with it being our honeymoon so we were pleasantly surprised to find a four poster bed in our room and assumed this was the hotels upgrade free of charge. (A nice room but definately not a bridal suite??) There was nothing else in our room when we arrived at 3pm, which was already an hour after the usual check in time of 2pm. About 4 ish a hotel employee delivered a bottle of prosecco with 5 small chocolates on a plate and when I asked where they were from, he replied that they were compliments of the hotel!! We then went out for a meal and apparently while we were out, our friends had spoken to my mum who had confirmed that we had checked in but that we believed the gift we had received was from the hotel. After much complaining and running around on my friends behalf that night the hotel apparently apologised and delivered a fruit tray to us around 8pm along with a box of lindt chocolates and finally a card with exactly who the surprise was from! All of the above spoilt what should have been a lovely collective gesture from our 6 friends and a lovely surprise for us on our arrival to the start of our honeymoon. The hotel told my friend that the reason it wasn't ready on our arrival was because we checked in early??? We checked In just after 3 ... Over an hour after check in so that was a blatant lie?? The fact that they had 2 weddings there that day was clearly the reason that our gift had been forgotten but instead of saying that and putting the issues right, it was all just blundered and tried to be covered up. I'm guessing these weddings also had the bridal suite so did we even get the room my friends had paid for?? I'm not sure after the palaver above :( Our 'bridal suite' had a broken floor lamp and a telephone that was constantly engaged so our evening was interrupted further to try and fix those but the hotel ended up giving me a separate room card so that I could use a different bedroom to make a phone call. The friend who had spent her evwning trying to rectify for us eventually saw the funny side and now calls it fawlty towers but I'm left feeling upset and angry on their behalf. As we had an early flight, we were checking out at 3:30AM so unfortunately most of the prosecco and the fruit tray were wasted. All in all, a waste of money unfortunately for my lovely friends who were eventually offered a partial refund (but didn't want it due to the gift element) and a waste of a lovely surprise due to way it was carried out, when the hotel finally got it right. The duty manager that night apparently said that if we had booked direct with the hotel then they would have refunded the cost of our stay for the problems but as we had booked online with a 3rd party then they couldn't do anything?!. I'm pretty sure they could have offered something better by way of an apology to us and they definitely should have refunded our friends. I know it wasn't a small sum of money so what they originally got for their money was absolutely pitiful. Unfortunately this looks a lovely hotel from the outside but currently I wouldn't be tempted to return or recommend the hotel in future. I'm pretty sure our 6 friends who put in their money for our surprise gift wouldn't recommend them either!!

    « Train fest... »

From the welcome until departure the service was really good. We were there as a group booking, no doubt at a very keen price, but I certainly felt as if I was important to the hotels business and received impeccable service. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the end of convention dinner was very good - no corners cut! I shall certainly use this hotel again when I am in the Birmingham area. Special mention of the ladies on reception at the weekend - they are a credit to the business.

« At £112.50 for the night it was not particularly good value. »

Our stay at this hotel was rather marred by the fact that a model train conference was on and our room was placed doors away from rooms in use for meetings. Battling through corridors full of chattering delegates to get to your room is not acceptable (especially if you are not involved). Otherwise, reception was efficient and the room was clean. Breakfast is nothing to write home about! At £112.50 for the night it was not particularly good value.

    « Very Good »

Stayed for a business dinner and award evening. Room was ready at 2pm and reception service was 100% professional, courteous and informative. The evening dinner was stunning and the table service well managed, timely and orderly. The room was well equipped if a little tired and is the only negative in my review though that is a little churlish of me. Breakfast was self serve and beautifully cooked yet again. The sausage in particular was awesome, the toast burnt or unto attend. I would certainly stay again and my negative comments are there only because in almost every way it scores 10/10!

    « Wedding Anniversry »

My husband booked a surprise night away for our 44th wedding anniversary where we actually had our wedding reception all those years ago. We were not disappointed it was as good as 44 years ago, room very comfortable and spacious as was the bathroom. He had booked a table in The Regency but on arrival we found that there was a private party in there, so we were booked into The Houston bar and lounge we also were given a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Food and service were very good, so was the breakfast which is a buffet, my only complaint would be that a pot of tea would have been nicer than a waiter walking round and topping people up.

« Perfect place to stay before flying from Birmingham airport »

We stayed here for one night before an early morning flight from Birmingham airport. It was a good experience, everything was good, the car parking, the friendly receptionist, the jug of fresh milk that was brought to our room within five minutes of my call to reception. The arrangements for the taxi to the airport (cost included in our stay). The room itself was very good. and we slept well before our 3.15am alarm call, which unusually wasn't made by a machine but by the night porter who was friendly and informative as we checked out and got into the taxi. We will certainly stay here again if flying from Birmingham airport.

« A great alternative to staying in the NEC or Solihull areas »

The hotel is easy to find and very accessible from Junc 6 of the M42. The NEC area is expensive for hotels and generally very busy, therefore this hotel offers a good quality and cost effective alternative. Car parking is available on site (a little tight) or on the quiet'ish road outside. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. Comfortable, well appointed rooms, with very large televisions. Good wifi, but no mobile signal. Breakfast was very good. We did not have dinner in the hotel, but chose to stroll 10 mins up the road to the Meriden Spice restaurant. Quite quirky being located on the first floor of the Queens Head pub; good food, although slow service.

« Great start to Honeymoon!!! »

We stayed here overnight before flying on our honeymoon .....We did an inclusive package...car parking, bed, breakfast and 3 course evening meal in the restaurant. The room was suitable and warm and the bathroom very adequate....The meal was lovely and filled a hole....The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and we were taxied to and from the airport with no hassle or stress....would stay here again if flying from Birmingham....We noticed if you didn't want to eat in hotel...There was a fish & chip shop down the road and a well stocked shop with sandwiches etc....It was worth the money, and our room was lovely and quiet with a very comfy bed...and I'm fussy lol!!! Thank you.

    « NEC stop over »

Lovely hotel fabulous for weddings. I can just see brides walking down the sweeping circular staircase with the huge crystal chandelier. Staff very helpful and polite, food choices quite good and cooked to perfection. Rooms are a very generous size, tall ceilings that help with spacious feel. Two windows with lively thick curtains to block out the light that actually fitted too. We had double room with large flat screen tv not piddly at all. Bathroom was huge and powerful shower but didn't keep the floor dry. Plenty of coffee/tea and even biscuits. Didn't try the breakfast as we were rushing to get to NEC for grand designs show. I would definitely say stay here.

« Did not want us to use restaurant »

I booked a 2 night stay for me and my wife using an offer of 2nights with 2x breakfast and dinner first night inclusive. When we arrived at reception, we studied the menus for the restaurant and lounge bar and selected the restaurant. Receptionist insisted it would be very busy and struggled to book us a table. We asked for 7.30 table but nothing available until after 8.30. We were advised to use lounge bar. We accepted 8.30 and were then offered 7.00 table to avoid crowd. When we arrived there was a table with three people, empty apart from them. Around 7.30 a group of nine arrived. That was it. There were no other customers and we left around 8.30. Left us feeling they did not want us to take the inclusive dinner in the restaurant. Glad we insisted on going there. The second night we went to the lounge bar. Took an hour to serve soup. Shower was over bath and difficult to control temperature. Apart from that, hotel was ideally situated for our visit to the NEC which was about a 10 minute drive.

« Good hotel away from expensive NEC area »

We chose this hotel for an event at the NEC because the hotels near the venue were ridiculously high priced. This was a reasonably priced hotel and I did picture just a bed for the night. This is a lovely hotel with great staff. It's close enough to the NEC to use taxis. The hotel was busy with weddings during our entire stay and we didn't notice as the design of the hotel keeps noise away at night time from the sleeping areas. Breakfast on our first day was more miss than hit, as the staff seemed to be unable to keep on top of restocking the basic food items. It wasn't overly busy, but on the second morning breakfast ran smoothly. Considering the prices of the hotels near the NEC, I'd highly recommend this as a fantastic alternative, even using taxis every day made this a cheaper stay. I'd definitely stay here again.

« Good location for NEC »

We stayed here last week while visiting the NEC for the caravan show. Lovely hotel in a quiet setting. It was easy to get to and from the NEC about a 10 minute drive. The room was very nice, clean and a large bed. Just be careful in the bathroom though the tiles on the floor were very slippery even when dry and with or without shoes on. We enjoyed a lovely buffet breakfast in the morning which consisted of full English and continental. We decided to travel to Coventry in the evening to eat out which again was an easy drive 15-20 minutes. Although we enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar on our return and those in the bar that were eating the food smelled and looked appetising. For anyone that fancies a walk through the village there are a couple of pubs within easy walking distance from the hotel. The village also had a coop, spar, pharmacy and chip shop. The staff were all helpful, pleasant and friendly and we would not hesitate to stay again if visiting the NEC.

« Acceptable one night stay »

Chose this hotel due to price and location close to Genting/Nec . Check in was swift- beautiful looking building & free car parking were the highlights! Taxi arranged for us by hotel to Genting arena at 4.30pm cost £12 our return journey from Genting to our hotel... After 11pm came to £7.50- :-/ bar closed at 11.15pm however we were told if we sat in lobby/ reception someone would come take a drink order... Reception assured us 15 mins later someone would be along soon- then Some 25 minutes later we noticed someone at the bar serving :-/ then breakfast... No juice, then ran out of sausages hash browns and beans, once those were replenished no plates- then no bacon- went to make toast while waiting for plates and bacon... No bread never had to eat breakfast in stages before. Our visit was laughable- no major complaints just these little instances made me giggle staff were courteous and friendly trying there best to keep things going! Room was clean and tidy bed was gorgeous and so comfy! Would stay again :)

« Not suitable for park and fly »

We booked a park and fly room both outward journey and on return. The hotel where the rooms are have no lift so dragging a 20kg case up 2 flights of stairs isn't ideal. Staff very nice. Hotel rooms very tired and dated. Suprised it's a four star and not three.

    3
« Not just me that was tired - so is the hotel! »

My room was fine apart from poor water pressure in the shower - worse than at home which was a disappointment! My friends all had odd little things that weren't right, no shower gel, towel rail not heated, key didn't work. Nothing drastic, but little niggles. The food was good, well presented and service efficient, and breakfast excellent. Unfortunately the whole hotel just left us feeling as though it needed a little TLC - and new carpets!

« Overnight stay for family visit »

Reception was good despite awkward customer immediately in front. Room was large, clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable and air conditioning/heating good. Only disappointment was breakfast the next day which at £ 13.95 should have been a lot better than it was despite it being cooked to order instead of the expected buffet style. Items ordered / not ordered were or were not on the plate, tea had a peculiar taste (certainly not Breakfast Tea) so that part not up to standard. However overall a satisfactory stay

    « Park and fly »

Well organised, easy parking, staff great. Room lovely and meal at Houston's really good. Taxi driver was so rude, didn't speak, snatched prepaid ticket from us and drove like a mad man. Horrible journey to airport.

« Gem in middle of England! »

Booked for Park n Stay. Great location, took a walk once there and found two very nice local gastro pubs and had a drink but decided to eat at the Meriden. Very nice meal at a reasonable price, so easy to go upstairs to bed afterwards. The room was spacious and the bathroom had everything you'd need. The other great thing about this Park & Ride is that you park your own car in their spacious car park and it stays there until you return. The cab to airport and back was included in price and extremely professional and timely. Overall would definitely use this hotel again when flying from Birmingham.

    « I was embarrassed. »

I'm disappointed by my review. Room was OK, food in Houstons pretty good. When I came to leave Houstons I was informed I couldn't put it on my bill and would have to pay. I only had my key with me as I had assumed I could charge extras to my room. I was mortified as other people in the restaurant were listening. Went to reception and receptionist put it on bill. Got back to my room and the restaurant rang room to say I hadn't paid. They should have checked at reception rather than calling me. Whole episode was embarrassing and left me feeling like a thief. Not sure I'll be back.

    « Park and fly »

We have stayed in this hotel several times and use the facility of park and fly which is very convenient and good value for money. Unfortunately this particular visit we went to check in and our room wasn't ready. The reception staff were very pleasant about it but we had to wait hours. Eventually the ' problem' with our room couldn't be fixed so they upgraded us it did not look any different from any other room and it was upstairs and a long way from the exit but it was a nice gesture. The taxi service to the airport was really good the driver was polite and friendly HOWEVER on the return journey when one has just been on a flight lately there always seems to be a hiccup. The procedure is phone the number on the voucher and a cab will be there asap this has not been the case on the last two occasions. The driver said he would be there in five minutes he was much longer was not helpful and even asked us for change for the machine all we had was euros. It isn't the fault of the Hotel of course but they may like to look at which taxi company they are using.

    « Fantastic »

We should have booked this hotel in the first place. After our rather unfortunate experience at the Brittania, Peter took us in and welcomed us. We were treated with respect & given a room at the last minute - 2am........ most Hotels would have refused at this hour. Superb place & highly recommended.

    « Great start to a holiday »

The hotel is perfectly placed for us on the right side of Birmingham and also quite close (but not to close) to the airport. There is ample parking to the rear of the hotel, where the car is left for the duration of the holiday and no shuttle bus to struggle on with your luggage. Transfers are by taxi included in the price. We had a comfortable quiet night followed by a super breakfast. Most importantly the staff were all friendly, helpful and professional.

    « Lovely hotel »

Hotel staff very helpful and friendly, restaurant food good quality. Room spacious and beds comfy, we stayed for 1 night with 7 night holiday parking good price which includes taxi to and from airport. We stayed on a Sat night it was very noisy after Midnight with lots of banging doors. I think a midweek break would be much better.

« Well placed and professionally run »

Not much to say. Got a great deal on secret escapes so only paid £69 per night for large double and 2 breakfasts. This review reflects this price. Hotel pluses - Well located/large/clean/ample car parking/large well fitted rooms/comfortable bed/well presented breakfast room and restaurant/pleasant reception. Negatives - no Spa-pool/limited grounds/no lifts/rambling layout (it took a while to acclimatise). Also, My room was made up but tea/coffee/biscuits not replenished. Incidental I know, but to me this shows 'lack of care' and has moved this review from a 4 to a 3 star. And also the room key failing?!. Why are we using these electronic 'jokes' that continually fail when an actual key works every time. One man had to return twice to reception with a key card that had failed, and I only sat there once for 5 minutes in my whole stay. How many are actually failing? It makes you wonder doesn't it. The little things really do matter I am afraid. And 'No' I did not contact reception because that should never have to happen for what should be a matter of routine. Almost there but not quite.

« Excellent Food, Staff and Service »

The company i work for has used a great many hotels over the years for our annual conference. The service of this hotel far our reached any other that we have stayed at. Location. Great location 10 mins from Airport and National motorcycle Center (this is where we hold our conference) Hotel Staff: Exceptionally friendly, speaking to our guests, opening doors in the hallway. Reception was easy all our guests had to do was sign and pick up key at reception which was waiting for them. Food: The food was very good, we had three course pre order menu for about 85 a night, we were in the hotel for three nights, each night the food was served hot and fast, about an 1.30 tops for all three courses to be served. The waiting staff were exceptional, loved the personalized menu cards. The buffet breakfast is great, you could also order off a menu and there was marmite bonus. Bar staff served fast and there were plenty of them. The Rooms were clean and tidy, some could do with a bit of updating. Behind the scenes, the events planing team are easy to deal with and very professional, accommodating our requests. Communication through out the departments is exceptional they actually communicate. This is where a lot of hotels fail and details get missed. The only minor things i could say is the mobile phone signal is non existent (bad or good thing). For me this was a little difficult as i organised the event, however they were more than accommodating in letting me use there phone. The land line phones didn't work in some of the rooms. There were minor issues like every event, but they hotel dealt with them in prompt and efficient manor. We have already booked this hotel for next year.

« Nice hotel, ideal location withing 10 mins drive of NEC. »

Check-in - We checked in around 8pm so evening shift had started around this time. The staff was friendly and polite. Staff - Although we had very limited interaction with the staff other then when we went down for breakfast they were polite and efficient. Room - The room was an average twin bedroom, spacious with a desk and couple of armchairs. The room has a large cupboard with hangers and then 3 sets of draws and a cabinet where there was a small kettle. The bathroom has a large bath with combined shower (Water pressure was a little low so shower wasn't that great). WIFI - The hotel has a dedicated WIFI service that is free to use, when checking in they provide you with the required password to use the service. Location - The hotel is ideally located being no more then a 10 min drive from the NEC and the M42. The hotel is also near to a local shop and has some nice walks around the local area. Overall - The stay was very pleasant, clean and would happily use this hotel again.

« One nights stay including car parking for 14 days and transport to Birmingham Airport and return. »

The room and evening meal were excellent.I was extremely impressed with the size of the rooms and the quality of the food. The staff were so helpful even when we left at a very early hour of the morning to catch a flight. The transport to and from the was first class and on the return to the hotel, after a phone call it, arrived five minutes later. Without a doubt the next time I fly out of Birmingham I will use this hotel. To my wife and I it was fantastic value for money

Very tidy, smart hotel for work. Great location to M42 in under 5 minutes. Room very nice, plenty of parking and nice ambience. We had a group dinner which was good quality. Service very good too. Would use again.

    « Fantastic, Friendly Staff »

We stayed here for one night and were extremely impressed. The hotel was clean and efficiently run but what impressed us most was the friendly staff. They have obviously been well trained, but even more importantly someone has done an excellent job on recruiting a great team. You can't teach 'personality' and every member of staff had their own individual friendly, genuine, approach and you were made to feel like an important person, not just another guest. I can't single out any one member of staff as they all deserve praise from the evening and morning receptionist, the staff in Houstson's Bar and the staff serving breakfast. The morning cleaner also gave us a cheery 'good morning' as we went by. The bedroom and bathroom was exceptionally clean and very comfortable and all of the public rooms were very well maintained. We ate in Houston's bar in the evening and the lasagne was one of the best I have ever tasted. The buffet breakfast was also excellent and everything looked fresh and appetising. The hotel is located in a small, pretty village which is only 5 minutes away from the NEC so it's a perfect place to stay if you're visiting events at the NEC. That said you wouldn't need an excuse to stay there and it's great value - their Christmas offer is very tempting!

    « Excellent stay & park »

We stayed at the Manor for one night (6th Sept) but but left the car there while we went on holiday for ten nights flying from Birmingham airport. We found the hotel to be very plesent, from a very nice member of staff who checked us in & made us feel very welcome. My only gripe was that we felt like a bit of lunch so ordered two cheese/pickle sandwiches with fries, when this came we thought they had used a full jar of pickle & a sprinkling of grated cheese on both, not very nice at all. This made me a tad wary for breakfast the next morning but no need to have worried as breakfast was excellent so made up for the poor sarnies. Room was fine, nice & clean & a lovely large tv in the room so spot on there. The taxi transfers were included in the price & these were fine, so I would recommend the hotel & would not hesitate in staying again.

    « Mixed thoughts. »

Stayed here about 4-5 times total during may. It was for work and luckily work paid for the hotels. This is an overall review of all the nights I stayed. The interior of the hotel was top notch, very friendly staff and a good looking hotel as well. The food was very good here in my opinion and I had the best food here in over 5 different hotels in Coventry. The steak and fish and chips were very good. The desserts were fantastic. The rooms were large with a very good look about them. Those were the plus points. Now what I didn't like... In one part of the hotel about rooms around 400, well you can't get a mobile signal at all. Also one of the rooms I stayed in I could not sleep one night due to loud noises coming from the ventilator. The noise kept coming on every 7 mins or so and very loud, seriously I could not sleep plus that night I already had a bad headache and hearing that noise was the last thing I wanted to hear! I phoned the reception and she didn't know what it could be at first but said "it should stop soon but if not ring me back and we will have to put you in another room". Another 40 mins and still could hear it, it was very loud and sounding something like loud drilling, it was even louder from the bathroom. Apparently the sound was coming from underneath my room. I phoned up again and this time she said "we can't put you in another room, we are fully booked!". I went downstairs to reception anyway to tell the woman in more detail and was angry that no other rooms were available. I had to put some tissue in my ears to camouflage the sound, still could hear it but not as bad. If this happened just on one night then I would give the hotel 1/5 as a rating, however because of the decent rooms in general, food and a decent looking hotel I have given it an overall 3/5 but if there was a better phone signal and no loud noises then maybe a 5/5 rating.

    « Excellent stay »

Arrived for a one night stay as we were visiting friends. A few parties and a wedding reception were also being accommodated but the hotel easily catered for everyone. Our room was very clean as well as our bathroom. No noise was heard from guests returning to their rooms after their celebrations. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal which was cooked to perfection. Our breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices available. We would certainly stay here again when we are next in the area.

« Great hidden gem with best in class service »

I was in need of a hotel to stay for a friends wedding and from check in to check out the service was exceptional. The rooms are large and they let me check in early so I could get ready, the car park has ample room and the location means it's super easy to get to Hampton, Birmingham and the motorway. I couldn't recommend this place enough-such a bargain price for such a lovely stay. Thank you!

« Fun hotel where the staff still know how to have fun »

With my work I stay in many hotels across the UK ... Usually they are part of a chain and come with perfectly polite but somewhat programmed staff - especially around the NEC. It was a pleasant surprise to stay at the Best Western in Meriden (4 miles from NEC) and to be greeted by staff whom had individual personalities whilst maintaining a good level of professionalism. The hotel is nice throughout - clean with decent sized bedroom. The staff in the bar were always welcoming; Serrina and Jack were super friendly ... and very hardworking (in fact always seemed to be working). The breakfast also deserves a mention as this was really nice and consistent - we stayed 3 nights and every morning it was to a great standard. I apologise for giving one of the waitresses a near heart attack by dropping a mushroom on the floor ... The poor girl must have thought it was a mouse running towards her feet as she physically screamed! In Meriden - with its somewhat village feel are a couple of great pubs for eating out: the Strawberry Bank and the Bulls Head ( a great Sunday roast in the later). They're both a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Only grumbles about the hotel - the plug in my bath was useless, only has one job to do and failed miserably. Also, the juice dispensers at breakfast always seemed to be near empty. No one likes the dregs so if you don't want to fill them at the end of the shift please just use smaller jugs and keep the filled. All in all a great stay and I will definitely stay again next time I'm visiting the NEC.

« Poor place to stay »

The room, albeit large was very dirty, with crumbs, hair and all sorts of stuff lingering under furniture, under the put up bed and on the carpet. Not a nice experience. The food was awful. This was probably the worst steak I have ever had. When I complained at the end of the meal, I was accused of eating most of it already, to which was not true. It could be a cracking place, but my trip was topped off with some elderly, irate gentleman losing his temper at the receptionist as he had been to the loo and no loo roll was in any of the toilets (or any in the disabled), and hence he has unable to complete his toilet routine.

We stayed 2 nights and had a lovely stay. The staff were polite and welcoming and gave us a nice quiet room as there was a large wedding party on. Breakfast was fabulous and the staff attentive. Definitely return. Well done to the whole team, from the managers to the housekeepers. Keep it up. Thank you

    « Felt Cheated »

Booked a Sunday night here when attending the Autumn Fair at the NEC. Chose it because it wasn't right in the NEC complex so was a little cheaper but rated at 4 star with 2 rosette restaurant. Booked initially in what was described as a standard double room - Standard Double Bedroom with plasma television, freeview channels & hospitality tray. Complimentary WiFI and car parking included for the duration of your stay. When checked booking the night before to print off confirmation realised it said for 1 person not 2. Went onto the online booking management system to amend for 2 people and was offered only an executive bedroom for a couple of pounds less so booked this room which was described as - Executive Bedroom Traditionally styled bedroom with double bed and lounge area, 42" plasma television, upgraded toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, mineral water, freeview channels, newspaper, free WiFi and free parking. I was quite happy that we were now getting a bigger room and TV, bathrobes, slippers, mineral water and newspaper and assumed this was offered as it was last minute amendment. Fortunately we left the NEC about half an hour before it closed on the Sunday so were only third in the queue for checkin as there was only one member of staff on the desk. When I gave my name the receptionist produced a pre-printed card for 1 person in a standard double room at the higher price so I showed my amendment confirmation and the receptionist changed 1 person to 2. I explained that we were now expecting an executive room rather than standard double and was told that all the rooms were executive and ours definitely was, so I then pointed out that the cost was now different so the receptionist agreed to charge me the lower amount and explained that the card was printed before the amendments and that a new card hadn't been printed but the details had been amended on the system. We went to the room - dark, dated with a view of roof tops, two chairs fitted in under the windows but hardly a lounge area, dirty, ripped net curtains, flimsy upv windows and stained cushion, a large TV but too large for the room, you couldn't really sit far enough away for comfortable viewing; bathroom clean with nice tiles but with one of those grubby shower curtains rather than a screen; bathrobes but one had obviously been worn by a previous guest as the collar was covered in dark orangey make-up and what looked like either a small rust or blood stain, no slippers, no mineral water, toiletries but we had no idea if they were upgraded or not and it was at this point that we realised we hadn't been asked what newspaper we wanted in the morning. At 6.30pm we went down to look at the restaurants to book an evening meal but didn't mention any of these issues at reception as guests were queueing the whole length of the lounge area while the solitary receptionist tried to cope with demand. We called at the bar for the mineral water, the bar tender said we would have to pay but allowed us to take one small bottle of mineral water when I showed the confirmation email. We booked a table for 7.30 pm in the restaurant - as we passed Reception guests were still queuing in a snake-like fashion through the lounge area and out through the front door but at least there was an additional member of staff on the check-in. The food was delicious (best ciabatta I've had in a long time, well-cooked belly pork even though no crackling as we'd seen other diners have, soft and creamy dauphinoise and a rhubarb and apple wrap with just enough tartness) and the staff polite and friendly but quite obviously understaffed in the dining area and presumably in the kitchen as the staff had to keep apologising for the lateness of courses to all diners. At 9.10pm I asked a waiter if I needed to sign anything and was given a print out of our meal with the cost to sign and assign to the room. I had paid by credit card at reception for the room and breakfast and had given the hotel the same credit card details to confirm the room booking. The quality of the food had somehow made up for the poor quality of the room but it was short-lived. At 10.15pm we had a call from a waiter in the restaurant asking that I pay for the food now as there wasn't a credit card account open. I asked if it could wait until morning as I had signed to accept liability for the bill and had given the hotel my credit card details twice already but was told that I could either go down to the restaurant to pay or the waiter would come up to the room and try to use the credit card machine up there. Reluctantly I went down to pay and yet again couldn't make any comment at Reception as there was still a queue for check-in with the original one and only receptionist. We slept well after turning off the noisy air con as the mattress was comfy although the pillows were a bit hard for my liking. Breakfast was generally good quality but again the staff were obviously under pressure to maintain stocks on the hot and cold buffets and I was disappointed that we didn't get our own tea pot or have the facility to get our own hot drinks but instead had to rely on the waiter supplying exceptionally weak tea from a flask. As we checked out I was asked if we'd had a good stay so said there had been ' a few niggles' so when this different receptionist asked if there was anything she should be aware of I told her all the above and said that most of the issues appeared to be caused by failings in administration and management. As I spoke the receptionist seemed to me less and less interested but said she would make sure that my comments were passed on to the relevant people. I decided to write this review to make sure they were noted - the hotel has some exceptional staff with a restaurant serving delicious food but the hotel needs updating and the day-to-day processes and procedures need an overhaul to provide a 4 star experience for guests.

    « almost perfect stay »

stayed here last weekend for an event at the NEC, was very impressed when we pulled up to the hotel, its gorgeous from the outside its no wonder people choose to get married here, the inside is just as striking. The staff were great, rooms were lovely, only downside was the aircon was not working in the entire building, we had 2 rooms and neither had it, which made sleeping abit uncomfortable because it got quite warm even with windows open. breakfast the next day was simply amazing, spoilt for choice, but again one little gripe and its not just with this place but with others i have stayed at...The sausages, not everyone likes cumberland sausages or sausages with seasoning, neither my brother or son liked them, i on the other hand loved them as did my mother but cant see many children being fond. other than that absolutely great.

    « Beautiful Hotel »

What a beautiful hotel. Our beds were comfortable and the room was lovely. Unfortunately we arrived late and were put in the very farthest room possible. Long walk to our room but that was fine. Unfortunately the WiFi was not. Even in the hallway in this room we barely had one bar. No air conditioning in the room and was a very hot night. We opened our window but it looked out on the dumpster so no a pretty view. Was too late and obviously every room was full or I am sure we would not have been placed in this room. Front desk was very friendly the next morning and was aware of the lousy wifi situation. Free parking which was great. Room had complimentary biscuits to go with the complimentary coffee- a nice touch. Thank you - all great just don't stay in the end of the hallway room.

« Nice Hotel could do better »

Stayed there from Saturday the 28th-30th August 2016 on a 2 night break from Great Little Breaks website which included tickets for Warwick castle interestingly had I booked the hotel direct and bought tickets for the castle it would have been cheaper so not that great a little break. Very nice staff, very nice room although as per previous visitors the room was stuffy and you could not adjust the heating or air con. On the first night we found out that the bedside lamp had a blown bulb and informed reception. By the time we left on Monday it was still not fixed and I was reduced to giving them the bulb as a reminder for the next guests. They have 2 restaurants one called the Regency and a grill bar called Houstons. When I phoned to book the restaurants I had to book the Regency for Saturday and Houstons for Sunday as I was told the Regency was closed on Sundays. It turned out that we cancelled the Sunday because they had a very poor selection of beers with no real ales at all even in bottles which is just not on so we arranged to go to the Bulls Head in Meriden which was very nice and had a good selection of real ales. As we passed the Regency on Sunday night there were people in the there having food and when I queried this I was told they forgot it was a bank holiday, really??? Incidentally the food in the Regency on the Saturday was very nice, credit where credit is due. Breakfast was excellent no complaints at all and once again staff were very helpful and attentive. So overall we enjoyed our stay but attention to detail is what moves a hotel from average to good or very good. Suggestions, get some real ales in the bars and when a client asks you to fix something do it on the spot don't take messages for people to ignore.

    « Brilliant location »

I chose this hotel because we were going to visit relatives in Birmingham and wanted to go to Warwick castle, on our way home from Scotland. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with airconditioning. Plenty of parking, a couple of pubs in easy walking distance serving food, so all in all, a good stay. Plus, 2 nights here only cost £20 more than 1 night in York at an Ibis!

« Not what it appears to be! »

We went as a couple for a stopover on a Sunday night. We arrived and reception was fine. Although having seen rooms advertised at in excess of £200 we were expecting something better. We got a deal and upgraded our room but my wife's first comment was that the hotel is a bit dated. We got to the room which was a good size although directly outside the window was a 6 foot wall with mature trees above blocking out all light. It was like being in a basement. Also outside was a wooden gate that someone had left open and, being a breezy weekend it swung and banged all night! Facilities in the room were nice with Orange and Apple juice left to welcome us. However, the temperature in the room was stifling. It was like a sauna and no controls in the room to turn it down. We ended up requesting and receiving a fan from reception which we had on all night. My wife sat on the bed to discover a bug, beatle type, in the bedding. Luckily it had left this mortal coil so we just got rid of it but it wasn't a pretty sight! We were handed menu's for the two restaurants at reception only to be told that, it being Sunday, only the bar/grill was open. If you advertise two restaurants when I book I expect two restaurants to be available. Why don't you state that only one is open on a Sunday? However, we ate in the bar and had roast beef. The beef was lovely but the vegetables that accompanied it were woeful. I have never seen a roast dinner with no green vegetables at all but there were 3 tiny (and I mean no bigger than a 10 pence piece) roast potatoes plus a few(very few) tiny diced carrot and parsnip cubes. That was it and whilst the quality was good it was excessively expensive for what it was. By the way, don't expect a phone signal unless you want to spend the evening in the car park...it's the only place to get one. Then came breakfast. We entered and were shown to a table by the waitress. The table though was still dirty from the previous guests so we were asked to wait a moment whilst they cleared it and set it again. This took 10 minutes with us standing in the restaurant waiting. They ran out of some items at breakfast too..... I could go on but the whole experience was very poor. I doubt anybody has ever paid in excess of £200 for this hotel because even if you booked at that you certainly wouldn't pay. We paid over £50 and I think it was a waste....This is not what it advertises itself to be so please take heed.

    « Disappointing hotel »

Stayed here twice now, first time neither one way or the other on hotel. This time walked up stairs and corridor, numerous occasions smelt urine. Food pretty poor, salad cress and lettuce, squid over cooked and took 35 minutes to arrive, even the staff were asking where the food was. Staff are lovely and very attentive but overall disappointed with hotel. Rooms are 9 out of 10 for cleanliness but corridors not! Air condition not working again, it just seems to happen when the temp outside is 23!!! Asked for it to be checked but hey ho still not working.

We stayed here while visiting an exhibition at the NEC. Check in was good, fast efficient and friendly. Room was as expected with no nasty surprises or issues. Breakfast was lovely , plenty of choice, fresh fruit etc, good choice of cooked foods. Had our evening meals in the Bistro bar as it had a good choice of vegetarian dishes, reasonably priced and good friendly service.Easy access to NEC.

« Good value, good service, clean and comfortable »

We stayed here for one night when visiting NEC. THe NEC is about twenty minutes away, and is located in the quiet picturesque village of Meriden, with its pond full of geese and ducks. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Beds are big, decent size TV in the rooms, and the bathroom is spotless. Breakfast in well cooked and plentiful Large car park Only down size if it is called that is it was like a rabbit warren, and People did walk outside our room looking for their own giggling in the early hours but this is not the fault of the hotel or ths staff

« Amazingt stay at a lovely hotel »

The room was clean spacious and cool. I find a lot of hotels are so warm in the bedrooms but this one wasn't plus as a bonus we had air con. Staff were friendly helpful and welcoming. We booked through Groupon and had 2 tickets to Warwick castle included everything was ready for us on our arrival. There was even two wedding receptions taking place during our stay and apart from the little argument that took place in the car park which only lasted 5mins it was very quiet.

    « Overnight stays best! »

This hotel is best for overnight stays and not longer. They cater for weddings at weekends and it can be noisy. The Princess wing is dark and does not have aircon. The food is very hit and miss... comprehensive breakfast if required is ok. We were disappointed with 50% of our evening meals during our stay.

« Return visit for 1st wedding anniversary »

Included in our wedding package from 1 year ago, we returned to The Manor for a complimentary dinner, bed and breakfast. It was really nice to be back in the Regency restaurant where our wedding was last year. We had excellent service from all staff. Reception and restaurant staff are all very professional and I cannot fault them. All have a can do and friendly attitude. The food was lovely - we had the 6 hour braised beef for dinner - absolutely gorgeous. The enormous choice at breakfast was all to a high standard. Room was very comfortable and we didn't hear any noise from the wedding that was on as we were the opposite end of the hotel. Thank you to all.

    « Overnight Family Stay »

The Hotel in in a beautiful setting away from motorways etc...The staff are so helpful and friendly especially Kay the receptionist! The family room was idea for an overnight stay, fresh linen, large TV, good WIFI. Our room was ground floor at the back which looked out to a small furnished courtyard. Four of us stayed in a family room, 2 adults and 2 children, 15 & 11. They were very pleasantly surprised! Great parking at the back of the Hotel. Really good breakfast, great selection.

    « Manor Hotel, Meriden »

This is a very comfortable Best Western Plus. The standards of service, food and drink are high. At this time of year it's a real bonus to not only find air conditioning but that it works! The hotel is ideally situated for the motorway network, and the pub down the road claims to be the exact geographical centre of England.

    « Pre flight stay »

We stayed here as a family prior to out flight to Greece the following day. The reception staff were very welcoming and accommodated out needs. We had requested a late check out 2pm which was not an issue. The restaurant food was very nice and well priced. The rooms were sizeable and very comfortable. Over all a great stay/rest prior to out Greek holiday. Thank you all.

nice rooms, plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits, also shampoo, conditioner and soaps. A nice breakfast room and the food was varied and good. We didn't eat in the restaraunt so can comment on this. plenty of free parking. Staff on reception and in the dining area where very friendly and helpfull. Would definately stay again

« Overnight stay with parking »

Good price for overnight stay for 2 friends and a 1 weeks parking. Taxi to airport included and we'll organised (there and back). Good setting, lovely hotel and gardens. Only issue was the temperature in the bedroom (can't remember the number). No air conditioning but also towel rail full on and unable to turn down/off. Rang reception who said they would send someone up. No one arrived. Went to reception bit later. Peter was excellent, sorted another room on same corridor whilst it did not have air con as least the towel rail was not on. (He also offered for us to look at another room but declined). Also got porter to help us with bags. Would use again but request a room with air con.

« Lovely setting, helpful table staff, but..... »

The setting is lovely, the table staff were very attentive but the overall rating is poor. I attended a retirement buffet for 50 (approx) people. We were expecting several round tables and the food to be placed on a serving table. We had a very long rectangular table so the whole event was more like a board meeting than an informal gathering. There were no starters. The food included what appeared to be boiled ham, smoked mackerel, pasta salad, coleslaw and mini quiches (which were very tasty). The only green salad were the garnishes on the ham and mackerel. There was a choice of two sweets, fruit salad and a chocolate shortbread with cream. As many people opted for fruit salad we had to wait whilst the chef prepared more. These varied from mainly diced apple to some that included other fruit. Tea and coffee were served but no mints, petite fours etc. At £20 plus per head this does not represent good value. No apologies were offered at any time. I felt sorry for the table staff. The general feeling was one of disappointment.

    « Mostly great »

The hotel is large but the grounds at the front are lovely as are the majority of the common areas. Our room was clean, large with a lovely bathroom and a great shower. Breakfast was lovely, selection of cooked, meats, cheeses , pastries etc all served in a very pleasant restaurant We ate in Houstons and whilst the food was good we thought the young staff could have benefited from more training. I wish we had chosen the restaurant for our meal

« Average hotel. Poor restaurant & food. »

Stayed here for a couple of nights for a family wedding nearby. Our room was clean and reasonably sized but with rather tired and dated decor. The hotel did provide complimentary biscuits tea/coffee and a room safe, which was all a bonus Dinner at night was very poor with some of the food clearly purchased from Iceland or equivalent, The calamari was particularly dreadful and the stand out worst dish of largely low quality food. Breakfast was a little better but not to be recommended.

    « Wonderful Service »

I booked a table for 23 people for a 70th Birthday Sunday lunch. We sat at a large oval table, in the Regency Restaurant which was a perfect setting. All week we had been in contact with Elise at the hotel to make arrangements & nothing was too much trouble. From arrival to departure all went perfectly. The restaurant supervisor ensured that the service was fab and the food was all well presented, hot, fresh and tasty. Nothing was too much effort and there were compliments from all the guests. Thank you to the Manor Hotel, we will be back soon.

    « Very good »

We stayed for one night after a wedding nearby. Staff were friendly, check in was smooth, room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast was included in our room rate, and was very good. It was buffet style with lots of choice. Staff came round frequently with tea & coffee. Cons: housekeeping woke us at 8am to see if they could clean. They knocked again at 9am; I put the do not disturb sign out at that point. Really, the hotel should be communicating check outs to housekeeping so they are not disturbing guests.

« Good hotel, great staff! »

Stayed here for one night a couple of weeks ago. Seemed busy with business conferences but this affect my stay. Check in was very quick and efficient, the young man on the desk kindly carried my bag to my room as I was suffering with a bad back at the time (sorry I can't remember his name!), he then very helpfully showed me a way back down to the reception area so I didn't have to use the stairs. A little gem you have there! More than willing to help and all with a smile. My room was comfortable and clean - no complaints there. In fact all the areas I saw were. I had dinner in the bar area, the staff here too were very friendly and efficient, the customer service in the hotel is great. The food was well cooked and presented, plenty of variety on the menu. I didn't stay for breakfast as I had an early start. I would definitely stay here again!

« The staff were great »

The room on Ground floor very hot inside, windows would only open a bit , had fan on all night , it was not that hot when we went I would say it was 20 , the towel rail in the bathroom was on and you could not turn it off I asked . so this is a problem . no hand rail, as I have leg trouble so I grabbed the towel rail to get into the bath to shower and burnt myself , not thinking . But staff were great !!!!!

« Good standard for the cheap prices - hygiene an issue at breakfast »

All the staff at this hotel were friendly. Our room was good. Nothing special - but did the job. The TV was huge. The room has lovely tea and coffee facilities. Nice to get the little freebies in the bathroom too. Our view was straight on to a brick wall, so not great. The bed was also very old, as our feet were higher than our heads! There was not a guest services guide in our room, so we could not use room service, if they even did it?! Shower was nice. Towels were quite don't. All in all, the room did what it needed to. The breakfast was unfortunately our let down. The sausages were swimming in grease, and full of grissle. The black pudding was revolting. The hash browns were very oily. The scrambled eggs were covered in beans. The bread was very stale. Our drink order was taken - we asked for a tea and an orange juice - we got a coffee and an apple juice. Then to top it all off - my husband found a pubic hair in his food!!!

« Good clean functional hotel »

Spent four nights here spanning over two weeks for business. Got a great rate for a superior room. Clean, comfortable beds. Breakfast was good - self service, but pricey if you weren't particularly hungry. Staff at front desk were very helpful. I was in room 130 which had air con which was perfect considering I stayed during the hot spell. Car parking plentiful.

« Good stay for location to airport »

Stayed for one night as convenient stay for airport, lovely clean rooms, pleasant surrounding, friendly staff. We had dinner in the bar and grill, meal was not great at all, under cooked food, we regret not finding a local pub. Complained and had money off our bill, I would not recommend the food Apart from food stay positive

« Very good hotel must be one of Best Western's top hotels »

Stayed here for two nights whilst on business check in was good room was nice and clean, lots of free parking and free wifi. There is a choice of two restaurants one is mid range fine dining and the other more mid range pub grub I used both whilst there and the food was very good in both. I will stay again.

    « Enjoyable family stay »

We booked accommodation for one night at this smart but family friendly hotel. Our room in the Princess wing was clean and comfortable and large enough for a family of 4. Two single beds for the children would have been better than sharing a pull out double sofa bed and air conditioning would have been welcome , although a fan was provided it was too noisy to leave on when trying to sleep. The welcome from the reception staff was excellent and very accommodating / helpful regarding our trip to Warwick Castle. It lacked any leisure facilities though access to a nearby sister hotel with facilities was offered. The buffet style breakfast was lovely and catered for adults and children. Would definitely stay here again.

« Wedding reception and overnight stay »

Attended this establishment for a summer wedding. The food tasked lovely, however, as it was a carvery option for the main, service for guests needs to be addressed as it took over an hour to serve all 9 tables and the first tables plates were being cleared before the last 2 tables had even been invited up to get their food. Bar service was very speedy and very cheery and drinks reasonably priced. Reception handled 2 large wedding parties checking in all together and pretty early at 1pm which was great. Rooms were fresh with an up to date appearance however bathroom could have been cleaner as the tiles particularly around the toilet didn't look like they had been cleaned in a while. (Also, good to note that this hotel does not have a lift so if you have trouble with mobility, I would suggest contacting them before arrival to ensure a ground floor room) Breakfast was a slightly more difficult matter. When checking in, we asked if we could have breakfast in our room the following morning and were told by the receptionist that she wasn't sure as it was busy and to come back a little later to check again. We later went back and asked again, we were told quite confidently that there was an order form in the room and that as long as it was hung outside of the door before 4am, breakfast would be bought up in the morning. As we had this in mind, we set a late alarm, but breakfast did not appear - we double checked to see that the order form had been collected but it was still there. We went down to reception where they apologised and said that we would have breakfast within half an hour which was then met (we were offered a late check out but unfortunately had prior arrangements) All in all, a nice venue for a family wedding, and rooms are nice - just needs a few tweaks. Would recommend to a friend.

« Great stop over when flying from Birmingham. »

Stayed over for one night before an early flight from Birmingham Airport. It was the hottest weekend of the year and as other reviewers have said, it was very hot inside the hotel. Having said that, it is a lovely, old style of coach house hotel, very traditional in design, but with comfortable bed, clean bathroom with toiletries and tea and coffee facilities. Our room was a ground floor room ( don't know if hotel had a lift - but no lugging cases up and down) with French doors opening on to a central courtyard. We could open the doors for ventilation but did not feel we wanted to leave them open all night. Fortunately, the hotel had provided a fan which was very welcome. Quick and easy check -in, by a very helpful receptionist who booked us a wake up call and advised us where the dining room was, should we want to eat. She gave us a copy of the menu to take to our room. We did eat in the bar area, had a huge club sandwich (£10) and fish and chips (£12), lovely, helpful staff. Prompt efficient taxi pick up to Airport (included in price) with explanation of what to do on return ( return pick up also included). Free car parking for holiday time also included. Very happy with service and would recommend and use again.

« Ok But Way Too Hot »

The Manor is a nice little hotel with friendly service and a good restaurant. All of this is unfortunately ruined by the extraordinary heat throughout. Our room was a standard room with no air conditioning and just a fan. It was boiling. This was nothing compared to the bar though. We went in for a bite to eat and thank goodness they were full as it was like a sauna. It's not a great level of comfort. The main restaurant was fine though as all of the doors were open. Overall, nothing wrong for the price but be sure to book a room with air con.

« corperate hotel with a gem of a restaurant »

Stayed here for one night on a flying visit to Birmingham. The rooms are pretty standard and the double bed was just that (no massive King or queens size bed). All fine however Bathroom /Shower good , clean . But the gem is the restaurant . A two rosette restaurant , served great food Beautifully presented and served and reasonable priced. Breakfast served real sausages and all HOT. Staff very pleasant and welcoming . Would definitely stay here again... Well Done

    « A Lovely Hotel »

Booked this hotel for 1 night with 2 weeks parking to go on our holiday from Birmingham Airport. What a gem of a place. Book in swift and reception staff very friendly and helpful. Ground floor double room with everything you need, and bed very comfortable. As part of the deal we booked a 3 course evening meal. We had a choice of 2 restaurants. The food was delicious and very well presented. Reception booked us a taxi for the next morning to take us to the airport. Prompt service which left us relaxed and ready for our holiday. When we got back from holiday we rang the number the hotel had given us for a taxi to pick us up and take us back to the hotel to pick our car up. This was all in with the package we booked. I have to say a lovely hotel and I would highly recommend to anyone. We shall certainly use again when flying from Birmingham airport.

« Fantastic service esp breakfast »

We stayed at this hotel as we were visiting Warwick castle, the rooms were great and breakfast was super with great service we'd defo return. There were 2 weddings but we weren't disturbed at all. The only issue was the small foldaway bed for the 3rd person in the room, it would be OK for young teenager but a little small for a 6ft male!

    « Amazing hotel! »

We stayed overnight with a deal from Groupon that included tickets to Warwick castle which was stunning ( make sure you visit!) The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful and check in and tickets were so easy to do. The room itself was huge and had a proper large TV with a kettle and hairdryer . Lovely marble bathroom with bath and lovely shower . Even though there was two wedding receptions happening there we didn't hear a thing! It was really wonderful and the hotel itself is stunning with beautiful grounds and two bars. In the morning the breakfast was buffet style but was extensive and there was so much to choose from! The staff were really attentive and brought drinks to our table ! I was well impressed and will definitely be staying here again. In fact my partner and I have considered having our wedding reception here also! The rooms are clean, the bed is huge and really comfy and staff are lovely. If ever you're up this way stop over as its a gorgeous place to stay . Plus it has a restaurant and two bars but we ate up in Warwick town so I can't comment on this but if breakfast is anything to go by then I'm sure it's first class too x

    « A comfortable hotel »

I like this hotel the rooms are comfortable and the restaurants are good with great service. There is plenty of free car parking both front and back. Only cautious note is you have to book a bedroom at the back as the front rooms overlook the ballroom and can be very noisy especially when there is a wedding. I have booked to stay again.

    « Mixed experience »

We stayed at the hotel as part of a groupon deal & whilst the trip was good value for money I was disappointed by a couple of things. However, starting with the positives: the room was clean and we had air conditioning which was good considering the other 4 people in our party did not. The reception staff were efficient and friendly. The food in Houstons was very good & they catered for my son who didn't want any of the usual kids menu & so adapted an adult meal for his size and kids menu price. Breakfast was good & had a big choice. What disappointed us was that because there was a wedding we weren't 'allowed' to use the hotel bar which was quiet and sold a brand of beer that wasn't in the restaurant bar, only to find wedding guests using the restaurant bar & so we had to queue unnecessarily. It made us feel like second class guests due to us not being part of the wedding party. The pull out bed was broken too. However we didn't complain about this until the morning & so didn't give the hotel staff chance to fix this as we only discovered it late at night.

« Airport Park and Ride Stay with 3-course dinner »

We had booked an overnight hotel stay with three-course dinner, parking for the week and transport to and from the airport. We did not realise the booking was with Best Western as we had stayed with another Best Western in June and were not very happy with the WiFi access which had been really restricted. Wow, what a difference between the two hotels. The receptionist was really helpful, including informing us about the Best Western Loyalty card which entitles you to upgrades, no other Best Western had told us about this?? We had the choice of two restaurants to dine in, one fine dining the other more relaxed. We choose the more casual restaurant and the food was of a very good quality and I would certainly recommend eating there even if you are not staying. The parking is onsite, so you know where your car is and your keys stay with you. The rooms were clean and quiet so we got a good nights sleep before our early start. The taxis to and from the airport were on time with no hassle. All the staff were really friendly and efficient, well done to you all. And the WiFi access which made us dubious about staying was excellent, not restricted as it was at the previous Best Western we stayed at. Where are we staying when we next fly from Birmingham or visit the NEC , definitely here. Bob and Lyn

    « Good value »

Booked a 1 night stay here as we were flying out of Birmingham airport early the next morning . It is located in a lovely little village called Meriden which is about a 10 minute drive from the airport . The staff were friendly and efficient. The eating area seemed slightly to formal for us to we visited a nearby restaurant . Hotel exterior is very good and the gardens well kept. The rooms were clean and had everything you needed, perhaps slightly dated but still excellent value for money. Had a great nights sleep here and will certainly use again when flying from Birmingham .

« Reasonably priced accommodation near Birmingham »

This was a comfortable and professionally run hotel. We obtained two nights very reasonably priced on Wotif. The room was large and clean. There was air conditioning but it was inefficient and the room was very hot. There was complimentary wi fi which worked well but our room was a dead zone for mobile reception. On the first evening there was a wedding. This was loud at times but did not affect us greatly. We ate in the informal restaurant , Hudsons. Due to the wedding we were informed there may be a delay in food service but this was negligible. The food and service in Hudsons was superb, and they catered very well for children. We had breakfast the following morning. Unfortunately this was a bit disappointing. Breakfast service ceases at 9.30 am. We arrived at 9.10am and some of the selections were exhausted (eg fruit for cereal, bread for toast). The staff were inattentive and seemed to be focused on resetting tables for lunch around us while we had breakfast. I had to ask for plates for the hot selection and also for additional coffee, and tea. Notwithstanding, the breakfast food was fine, just the staff seemed preoccupied. Despite these criticisms I would still recommend this hotel.

« Needs to try harder »

Nice looking hotel for a Best Western and rooms were of a good standard. Just doesn't quite live up to its 4 star aspirations. Bookended a long haul trip here as it was close to the airport with good parking. First night the executive room air conditioning consisted of a desk fan! Houstons was average at best but breakfast was decent enough. On both nights the wi-fi was appalling and the mobile phone signal was non-existent. Worst of all having arrived back after 24 hours travelling we were allocated a room on the 1st floor - 2 heavy suitcases, no lift - tired tantrum! When asked for a porter they didn't know what that was - some poor waiter was seconded to help. I would not really recommend this for airport stays as they are just not geared for travellers - there was a wedding on which fortunately on this occasion did not disturb us but this does seem to be what they do better.

Had a lovely evening with our 6 year old son in this hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was great and the meal in the Houston bar was very nice. Once again the staff in the bar were brilliant with us and our son. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone ????.

« Double check your requests! »

Stayed for one night prior to early morning flight from Birmingham Airport. Room was slightly shabby and had an odour of stale cigarette smoke. On checking in at Reception we requested an early morning call for 2.00 am. We asked the young man on duty how long it would take to travel by taxi to the Airport, as we needed to be there by 3.30 am. He assured us that the journey would take about 15 minutes, and therefore suggested that he book our taxi for 3.15 am, to which we agreed. On the following morning we were awoken at 1.50 am, to check that we had booked a taxi for 3.15 am. This was confirmed. Then had a second call at 2.15 am to say that our taxi had arrived to collect us! The night porter refused to accept that the mix-up had been made by hotel staff, and asked the taxi company to return at 3.15am. When the driver arrived to collect us at the time we had requested, we overheard the night porter lay the blame squarely with us (the customer) and said that we sent our sincere apologies for our mistake!! If we ever stay at this hotel again, we will ask for written confirmation of any requests made to staff, as clearly some of them have a lot to learn about customer service.

    « Princess wing :) »

Stated at this hotel for 2 nights with work as I was attended a show at the NEC. Very easy to find, lovely rooms in The Princess wing (very apt for me), service was fab from check in to leaving. All of the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Would definitely stay again next time I need to go to the NEC.

    « Briiliant staff »

We stayed at this hotel overnight for my birthday after a day out at the NEC. From the minute we checked in the staff were lovely! There was card wishing me happy birthday on the bed. We had a meal in the Regency restaurant and the food was wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. As the room was so dark we managed to sleep through the breakfast service but the kindness of the chef meant we didn't have to leave on an empty stomach. The room was a little tired with the odd cobweb but the friendliness more than made up for this. We will most definitely recommend and stay again.

    « perfect »

Stayed here overnight before a flight out of Birmingham. Also left my car parked at the hotel for two weeks. The hotel is beautiful and you would know you were ten mins from the airport. The price included parking and taxis to and from the airport which were very prompt and hassle free....When flying from Birmingham I will definitely use this hotel again.

« Perfect Hotel when flying from Birmingham »

Stayed at the Hotel on a 'Park and fly' basis staying overnight on the return. Reception was quick and courteous and they called a taxi which took 10 minutes to arrive (included in rate) On the return rang the taxi company and arrived at the hotel. Check in quick and efficient and allocated a ground floor room which was more than adequate for an overnight stay. The Park and fly rate was a bargain and far better than cheaper than some of the Airport parking. Will definitely use this hotel again when flying from Birmingham Airport

    « Stayed for a conference »

« Good, but hot, overnight stay »

We stayed here overnight to break a long journey from Cornwall to The North, This is a pleasant hotel a cut above a number of best western hotels, the staff were universally friendly and efficient and all seemed eager to meet customers needs. Especially at breakfast were Sian worked very hard to keep pace with the steady flow of early customers and should be congratulated. Food in the Houston grill, which is apparently themed on an American diner, is very good quality and reasonably priced. We had only one complaint, the overly hot bedroom which, despite this comfortable bed, meant it was difficult to sleep. When we mentioned this to reception we were told this was because a decision was taken not to extend air conditioning to that part of the 'Princess Wing' in my opinion an error of judgement very evident on a warm July day. The only way of cooling the room was to open the French doors on to the garden - not a practical solution. The heat is increased due to the oversized heated towel rail in the bathroom, this is above the bath and cannot be switched off. Despite the heat I would stay here again, but would want a air conditioned room.

    « Very pleasant stay »

Groupon deal, overnight stay and Warwick Castle entry. Myself, my husband and my 2yr old stayed. Room was fine, usual hotel room. A little tight with a pull out bed, not much can be done about that. Reasonable cleanliness, I'm quite fussy. Some parts of the room were a little shabby (net curtains in particular), but nothing bad and not worth complaining about. Ate in Houstons in the evening. Food was great, although a little pricey. Breakfast was great! All staff were fantastically helpful and friendly. Couldn't have done more for us. What more could you ask for? Would visit again. Especially if there was another great groupon deal on.

Comfortable room with nice spacious bathroom and a very comfortable bed. We were at the back so it was nice and quiet too. There are two car parks so plenty of car parking spaces and its very close to the NEC too.

« Overnight Before Flying from Birmingham Airport. »

We had one night and car parking at The Manor, before flying from Birmingham airport the following morning. The hotel is very nice, the rooms are very comfortable and extremely quiet. The bed was comfortable, we had a good nights sleep. Only one slight fault is that the room we had did not have tea/coffee making facilities. There is a nice bar which is reasonably priced with good service, which also serves good food again at a reasonable price. There is also an A La Carte restaurant. We were more tan happy with our stay and will certainly stay there again should we fly from Birmingham. I would highly recommend this hotel.

« First class again..wish all Best Western were like this »

Stopped 4 nights DBB. Having booked via Best Western central reservations asked for an upgrade if available. On checking in was upgraded to room 220. As always with this hotels rooms are spotless. Comfy bed and powerful showers. Ate 3 nights in Houstons and once in the restaurant. New menu in Houstons and the food is excellent especially the baked camambert which is huge. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast good every day. On Saturday afternoon / evening there where 2 weddings taking place so hotel was busy parking was limited but the food and service was brilliant. What I like about the hotel is the staff. From reception to bar staff, waiters waitresses and management level, the service is always with a smile and nothing is too much trouble

« Excellent service at the Manor. »

We stayed at the Manor Hotel prior to flying out from Birmingham airport. They had a great deal for stay and park, including an excellent taxi shuttle service. At all times there we were treated in a friendly, efficient and helpful manner, especially by Kay at reception. The room was very good, although air conditioning would have been a bonus, but comfortable, clean, stylish and quiet. We will definitely choose to stay here again.

« Busy weekend but still great!! »

Stayed here as part of a wedding that was happening at another hotel on the 24th, but we stayed the night before also. Check in was quick and met by a nice young gentlemen. Help was offered for our suitcases and the room we stayed in was a good size and had everything we needed. Ate in the restaurant and although they had a big table of what looked like 20+ this didn't worry the staff. They were all so nice and accommodating to someone who is a gluten free and a very picky eater! Was a little shocked to find Sian (who i think was in charge of the restaurant or atleast in charge of shifts??) working the evening, and then breakfast, and then evening, and then breakfast again! seemed like she never left. Hotel shifts i suppose. She was very chatty and seemed interested in actually making conversation. Lovely girl. Breakfast couldn't off been better on both days. Saturday better than Sunday, but Sunday they seemed to have the entire restaurant full and must of been 100+ people!! stil got us a table within 5 minutes and we had coffee offered the second we sat down. The staff here work so hard for what I can only assume isnt the easiest job. Food hot and tasty, no problems. Would recommend this hotel, just for the staff if not anything else! Credit to the hotel.

    « Great weekend stay »

Lovely hotel in Meriden. Pleasant and helpful staff, nice rooms, good breakfast, great evening meal. You pay a little more than standard BW hotels but worth the extra. A large hotel, my room was on the second floor towards the rear so involved a little extra travelling. Very popular so car park fills up quickly.

    « A Hidden Gem »

Easy to find, great location reasonable rates when booked through "secret escapes" booked two nights DBB for £228, dined in the main restaurant on the Friday night, excellent table service, good quality food, Sian the Maitre de was brilliant. Good choice of foods at breakfast including Black pudding!! dined in "Houston's" on the Saturday night, asked for two well done rump steaks, but one could have done with an Elastoplast! was still bleeding, staff offered to change it but had lost appetite by then. Staff overall were excellent and friendly, although reception staff were the exception, when booking in we were given the room number and directions to the room, no info on dining or times etc, when enquired later, receptionist was still a little unsure. Saturday morning we reserved dinner for Houston's but Saturday night when we went to Houston's, were told no booking had been made but the staff dealt with this no problem. We also asked reception for some more milk cartons for the tea tray at 20:30 on the Saturday night and up until we checked out, we still had not received them. Overall though a excellent hotel

    « Poor for a 4 star »

We arrived to book in any they couldn't find our reservation. After at least half an hour of standing at reception waiting while they organised our rooms, we were given our keys and advised we would have to wait for one of the rooms whilst they changed it from a double to a twin. When we eventually got in we discovered that the sheets on the two beds only covered half the mattress . When we called down to reception to tell them, we were told - Oh yes some of the sheets are too small for the beds.???? As if this was somehow acceptable. We then had to request that they changed the sheets to some that actually fitted the beds. Breakfast was distinctly average for a 4 star hotel. The staff were at all times pleasant and friendly, just unfortunately quite inefficient.

« One night stop over »

We booked here to attend the NEC, which was a short drive away. We arrived late and slumped into a lovely room, with 4 poster bed and French windows, which we left open all night as despite rain it was warm. Lovely hotel, friendly staff and good food. Room service menu was limited but that's my only moan.

    4
« Good place to stay for nec events »

We stayed as a secret escapes deal and we thought we got good value. The hotel was clean and modern but with miles of corridors and as far as I'm aware no lift. All the staff where very pleasant and helpful. The car park is huge but when 2 weddings on are not big enough. The food was god but did not quite live upto their advertisement, seemed to be trying hard but not quite making the grade. The wine list was not big but the wine I tried was extremely good. The NEC is 6 miles away and we took a taxi which cost £11 each way which meant we could do a lot of sampling at the good food show.

« Superb place to stay before flying »

We have to say this place was great. From the moment we got there the staff could not have been more helpful. The manager helped us with our cases and we were upgraded to a exec room as it was my birthday . The grill bar where we ate at night was great value which is unusual for a hotel. We had excellent service and cannot fault the customer service. In fact when we fly next from Birmingham this will be our hotel of choice to stay with an excellent taxi to and from the airport, all included in the price!

    4
« The best place to stay when attending the NEC »

This hotel is within a short drive of the NEC and yet has all the facilities of a major town/city hotel. It has a full range of good food options. The staff are efficient and friendly. It does tend to get booked up early especially at the time of popular events at the NEC. I try to book at least 6 months before to get a good rate.

    « ideal for a weekend break »

Very neat and tidy hotel, lovely breakfast and the grill restaurant was very good and good value for the money as well. The rooms were lovely and the beds were very comfortable. Reception staff and the grill staff were really friendly everywhere was very well decorated and clean. ample car parking and easy to find and good position for the motorcycle museum and Nec. Good wifi coverage as well.

    « A wonderful wedding weekend »

We stayed for two nights as guests at a friend's wedding. The hotel is very well presented and the staff are very well trained, helpful and courteous. There is a free car park at the front and rear of the hotel. Our double room was very comfortable and clean with mainly good quality fixtures and fittings. However, the wardrobe seemed a little worn and of inferior quality. We also had free wifi which was very useful as mobile phone signals were poor within the building The wedding meal was of excellent quality, and the service was impeccable. Our breakfasts were also very good but a couple of things could do with improving. The toaster was very small and slow so guests were forced to queue even when the restaurant wasn't busy. A larger machine would be more appropriate for such a large restaurant. On the second morning it was fairly busy, resulting in several tables were being un-cleared for long periods, and some service of tea and coffee was slow. It appeared that there was probably insufficient staff. In summary, we had a very enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again in the future

« Excellemt for Park and Fly from Birmingham Airport »

Stayed for one night before flying out from Birmingham airport on holiday. Price was very reasonable for an overnight stay, taxi transfers and a week of parking. Airport was just a 15min taxi ride from the Hotel. Transfers with the A2B Radio Cars was very efficient even when we left hotel at 4-15am cab was waiting for us and no wait on our return. We ate in the hotel bar the night before departure and sampled the new menu, food was very good, just what we wanted before going away on holiday . Extremely clean and staff were very friendly & helpful. Good value for money. Located in a lovely village, will definitely use again when flying out of Birmingham..

    « Gardeners world »

Stayed here for 2 nights after visiting BBC gardeners world. The staff wee so friendly and helpful to everyone especially the bar manager who despite being a couple of staff down was smiling and cheerful throughout service. Only downside was the room was really hot. Would definitely stay here again. Accessible for NEC in a lovely spot

    « Only regret »

Stayed over on our visit to the Gardeners world show. This hotel is huge but, the staff still had the personal touch and were very friendly and helpful. The room service menu could do with being a bit larger as variety wasn`t great but the food and wine were of a good quality and very enjoyable. Our room was large with the usual tea/coffee making and a selection of complementary products in the bathroom. Excellent fluffy white towels and bathrobes. Very comfy four poster bed, two large armchairs, coffee table, double wardrobe and chest of draws complete the furniture with 3 large classy looking lamps to give extra lighting. Large french windows leading out onto a Juliet balcony overlooking the central courtyard. Breakfast was the usual self serve and was fine. My only regret was just staying one night in room 413 The hotel is 10 mins from the NEC and i am sure to be back.

« Excellent Stay - Very Good Restaurant. »

This is a sizeable Conference Hotel, just some 2 miles from the M42/NEC, and ideal for a stay if visiting the NEC for an Event. Located in a the really pretty area of Meriden, just of the M42 and really easy to get too. The rooms are modern, spacious and well fitted out. The Restaurant is excellent, truly excellent, I have not had such an enjoyable meal in a Hotel for a very long time, and the price was very fair. Excellent Breakfast the following morning - Nice to see good fresh ingredients, correctly cooked. Excellent Chef. Certainly will be using again when I am in the area. Booking is advisable as the Hotel is really busy.

    « What a Find! »

When you are traveling to Birmingham, the last thing you expect to find is a hotel in a small village just of the main drag. Good parking comes before cost as far as I'm concerned, so to find a large hotel with a huge parking area behind and a rear entrance is nothing short of luxury. There is no lift, but I was offered help with my luggage, so getting in and out was easy. The room was large and clean with a great shower. we had dinner for 15 in the restaurant and the staff were very accommodating, allowing us in early and coping well with latecomers. Food was excellent and we didn't have long to wait for each course. This place is a real find and with easy access from the M6 and M42, I would not hesitate to stay here again

« Good room and food, awful WIFI »

I had a Superior room which was a good size. It had a good sized desk for those who need to work and a large TV to relax in front of once the evening work is done. The bed is firm and comfortable and bathroom well equipped. I am very happy with the room and for £60 (via Hotel.com) it is very good value. HOWEVER, as a business traveler the weak wifi in my room especially (314), and the rest of the hotel is not acceptable. There is no excuse for wifi to be strong throughout the hotel. If you need to work in the evening like I do then be aware! Note: I have written this review off line ? On a brighter note I ate in the Bar & Grill which was a better experience. I order a glass of Rioja which was very good and Calamari and rib eye steak. The calamari was well cooked and lightly battered. I judge if the chef if any good by how well they cook steak. My steak was ordered medium raw and it was cooked perfectly. Thanks to the Chef. In summary I would stay again as long as I didn't need to rely on the wifi. Note to the hotel ? the wifi is easy for you to sort out and there is no excuse for the bad signal

« First Class stay.... again!! »

This was the second time we have stayed at this excellent Hotel, and this time we took our dog with us. Everything was just the same as when we stayed the first time, the staff were brilliant, the food and room excellent, and although there were 3 weddings on over the weekend we stayed, we still managed to get a parking space in the Hotel Car Park. We have just booked again to return later in the Year...enough said!!

    « School Prom... »

Just fantastic....room was great, food was excellent and plenty of it. Brownies were a real highlight. Great atmosphere and the outside space was beautiful. Staff efficient and attentive. A lot of our students are quite inward looking and for them to get out of the city into the countryside and see a lovely venue like this and for a few hours to be so important had a real impact. I would 100% book you again!

« A good hotel for park and fly »

We recently travelled overseas from Birmingham Airport and took advantage of the park and fly arrangements. The car park was busy but there were a few spaces left so we managed to get parked in the rear carpark which has a security barrier. The receptionists were friendly, welcoming and informative. The taxi arrived quickly and the transfer to the airport was without incident. On arrival back in the UK, we called the taxi company, they advised us where to wait and texted the details of the taxi reg and make as they were arriving and phoned us to let us know they were approaching. When we arrived back at the hotel we were again greeted by another friendly receptionist and although the hotel was noisy with wedding receptions our room was in a very quiet part of the hotel and we were not disturbed at all. The breakfast the following morning had a good variety of hot and cold options, the food was hot and again the staff were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend. The rooms were traditional and a little tired but clean and comfortable.

« Quiet, comfortable room and good service again »

This is my 4th stay at the Manor in Meriden. Once again it provided a quiet comfortable room within easy reach of NEC and Birmingham Business Park. Staff are friendly and efficient. the room was clean and comfortable and provided plenty of space to work and relax. Good, reliable free WiFi

    « Impressive from outside »

We stayed here as a group booking from Friday 20th May 2016 to attend a wedding nearby. Whilst the staff are friendly, this is all I was impressed with. We were allocated to room 202 which has a very noisy extractor fan outside attached to the kitchens - this is not switched off at night and unfortunately kept me awake all night. The same on Saturday night by which point I had had enough and made a complaint to the night porter. He was very friendly and offered me a room move which I accepted - unfortunately my partner did not want to sleep in a different room and so we ended up sleeping separately. The breakfast was good although the bacon very salty and it felt like the staff could not cope with the demand for breakfast. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly reception staff where he asked if we were part of a wedding group. We explained that we weren't which would have been a good opportunity for the reception staff to explain to us that one bar was reserved for wedding guests only - this wasn't the case and so when we did approach a bar which was open, we were told we could not order there and had to go to the bar in the restaurant. That was fine although when the bar we were allowed to order from closed, we were not allowed to order from the bar which was still open. This was at 11pm so it wasn't as if we were ordering late and it felt that better treatment and services were available to wedding guests only despite the whole group paying a lot of money for the same service. The hotel is impressive in terms of decor - it is a little dated but I think this adds to the charm of the buildings character but besides from that, I was really unimpressed with this hotel and having worked in hotels before, I know that it is the little things which make a customer's experience.

    4
    « Overnight Business Stay »

Clean, comfortable, inexpensive and reasonable food. Try and get a room nearer the centre of the hotel as there was lots of walking upstairs and along corridors involved in getting to my room. The room was spacious and well presented and the food was of good quality and sufficient quantity.

    5
    « Sunday lunch »

Fantastic place. Staff and food excellent. Not crowded and plenty of room. Resturante manager first class. Staff best we have ever had, nothing too much trouble. Very very good! Had Easter meal there and it was lovely. Have been on many occasions since.

    « Worthy of a visit »

My Wife and I spent the day and had overnight stay at this 4 star hotel. The food was excellent and the staff were all friendly. I have two gripes. The first is there is no lift in reception to the upper floors. I was told it is because it is a listed building. There is one at the rear but this doesn't help elderly people if they have to walk all way to the rear. I can accept that this hotel is a listed building, but come on Solihull planners, this is a hotel where elderly and handicapped people visit and stay. It wouldn't hurt anything to put a lift inside the building next to the reception. The second gripe is, I may be old fashioned but I like my morning coffee or tea in a cup and saucer not a mug. Where does one put the wet spoon, only on the clean white table cloth. Having said all that, a first class hotel and we enjoyed our stay emensly.

    3
    « Room service average »

Entrance and reception are really nice , rooms are OK comes with the usual compliments WiFi and phone signal are a bit hit and miss on the plus side beds are really comfortable, room service menu is a bit rubbish not much choice, and if you want to eat in bar lounge you are in for a long wait, staff were really disorganised look busy but not actual doing anything ordered 2 pots of tea which was left on the bar a good 10 mins in the end we went and got them are self's from the bar.

    5
    « Overnight with parking »

Second stay here in January 2016 was just as good as the previous year. Stayed over for one night with two weeks car parking, prior to our early morning flight from Birmingham Airport. Deal also included free return taxi to airport, which is about a ten minutes drive. Staff very welcoming and always eager to help. Had a light meal in the bar area, which was perfectly adequate for our needs. Have no hesitation in recommending this great hotel to anyone. We will certainly book here again, should we have an early flight.

    4
    « Lovely just a bit dated »

We stayed here for business around area of Coventry and wanted quiet time instead of bustle of city hotel. We found it here only thing is room a little dated but for one night slept well and breakfast great.

« Good Staff Average Hotel »

I cannot fault the hotel staff, but there was just something about the hotel itself that didn't live up to it's potential. There was only a lift in the new part of the hotel making it difficult to get to the room along with our luggage. This may seem petty but the web site said lift. The staff were lovely but couldn't tell me how to get to Stratford......nobody knew!!

    1
« Nowhere near worth the money! BEWARE THIEVES! BEWARE THIEVES!!! »

I stay in lots of hotels through business. Holiday Inn, Marriot, Mercure etc. This has got to be at the very low end of the scale. There were long hairs on my bathroom floor. The iron spewed out a viscous brown concoction which had I not tested prior to use, would have been all over my clean shirt. It's now all over their ironing board and a towel. The room was generally scruffy and didn't look properly hoovered. The decor was tired with bare patches on the carpet, bathroom tiles from the 80's and chips in said tiles to complement the hair in the bath. The room was about 4000 degrees C and would have been cooler sitting on the surface of Mercury (the planet not the element). The worst part however, was the shower. The curtain was mouldy looking but the shower itself needed David Blaine to control the temperature. I was dancing a highland fling in and out it as it went from utterly, dangerously hot to freezing cold in an instant. If you have children, seriously, do not let them sit in the shower or bath with the water running as it is not safe. £116 per night for an 'Executive Room'. I wont be back.....however, there was worse to come... At 07:15 I got a call from the desk to tell me there was a problem with my car. The window had been smashed and my golf clubs stolen. Another car in the same car park had been done as well. Zero help from management apart from allowing me to use the phone. Zero input from those that were working through the night and despite having countless CCTV cameras...zero evidence for the police. This place is a shambles.

« Lovely hotel - but not suitable if a function is on »

Hotel was lovely. It was unfortunate however that there was a wedding on the night we stayed and our room was directly overlooking the back of the reception room. Everytime people went outside for a cigarette we were disturbed. We requested if we could move but were told we couldn't. I am an asthmatic and can not use air conditioning, as it was a hot night and I couldn't open the window due to the noise I hardly slept. Such a shame as the hotel was lovely, and majority of the staff were amazingly helpful.

    2
« Very average for a 'plus' hotel »

I was there to attend a party with a large group of friends. What a soulless place it was. They had lost my son's booking - they eventually found a room for them but were not very understanding. The whole place was very ordinary and the room was very average. It wasn't cheap but the lack of niceties felt like cheese paring - where was the mineral water in the room? Where were the variety of teas in the bedroom? Why was I given a mug with my breakfast? Why was the food so poor? And where were the feedback forms? Ummmm

    4
« Very nice and super convenient »

Stayed here while attending a function at the motorcycle museum near NEC. 15 mins in a taxi from Birmingham airport and then 10 mins to museum. Beautiful building with lovely grounds in a small village. Good breakfast choice of continental or full English which was delicious. Great room with air con and all other amenities were great. Overall very good value for money.

    « Soulless »

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel and my wife and I felt as welcome as a verruca at a swimming pool. Can only say that the hotel is devoid of any kind of atmosphere.Had to explain at checkin that we had prepaid and also when we checked out.No "hope you enjoyed your stay etc".First and definitely last stay.

« Very average Best Western »

Stayed here for 1 night as part of a park and fly package for Birmingham airport. It looks nice from the outside but frankly that's pretty much where it ends! Once inside it's quite old fashioned in styling but not a traditional, intentional old fashioned styling. It's tired and a little bit musty smelling. The bedroom was ok - the 2 big pluses: a real iron and ironing board and proper loo roll. Lighting was shockingly poor. We arrived a little before 10pm due to work commitments and were offered a very, very basic selection of food for room service only. Not brilliant after a late drive. A nice enough bar which avoids spending too much time in your room! Staff were another saving grace for this place. Helpful and friendly. The thing I found most odd was once we parked our car at the rear of the property, we were easily able to gain access into the rear of the hotel without any access key, taking us straight into a main ground floor corridor of bedrooms. As an often lone female staying at hotels around the UK I found that quite unnerving and certainly wouldn't recommend it on that basis. Literally anyone could have got in the same way - at 10pm. Get your security tightened up and get some new carpets and give the place a 21st century touch.

    « Stayed with 4 colleagues »

Upon arrival there was plenty of room to park and the building looked impressive. The check in was both friendly and efficient. My room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived at 7 but soon filled up. The service was extremely slow and hard work (the only reason I didn't give 5 stars). But the food was first class. The breakfast was great and service was much better.

    « Fabulous Hotel »

My husband and myself stayed here over night enroute to Dubai. The Hotel is beautiful with fantastic gardens and situated in a lovely area. The room we stayed in was good and on par with some of the other main stream hotels nearer the airport ( actually I lied it was better) . We dined in the bar area on the evening and the food was really good . Taxi to the airport was on time and picked us up on our return within 15 mins of request. We will absolutely be back next time we fly from BHX . Thanks for a great start to our holiday.

« Nice looking building but lots of problems »

Two nights here. Took an eternity to get checked in with five guys checking out and four of us trying to check and just one solitary guy (Guillaume) manning reception. He worked fast and hard and was brilliant but the lack of staff available at a busy reception period is inexcusable in this industry. The four of us ate the first night in the bar but the service was lousy and slow. Having had mains the dirty plates were left in front of us for 40mins before anyone took them away and asked if we wanted more drinks or desert. The steaks had been served on wood boards that had been left so long in front of us that the blood has actually been absorbed in to the wood which was starting to smell disgusting. Steaks need to be served on plates NOT wood! This was made worse by a member of staff idly chatting to a customer sat on the table next to us and ignoring our required service. The second night we ate in the restaurant which much had more attentive staff and the food was delicious but smaller portions than the bar food and obviously more costly. We left the restaurant and went to the bar for a couple of drinks before bed. The bar was in chaos. People were complaining about the food service in there and the staff clearly overwhelmed. The bar was soaking wet to touch and the floor in front sticky with spilt drinks. We didn't stay in there. On the last night two cars were broken in to right in the from car park of the hotel too. Room was large with good A/C but the bed was two singles pushed together meaning the headboards that were mounted on the wall were not over the bed. One member of staff worth a mention was Harry who served us at dinner - a chatty and happy guy!

We has two rooms opposite each other as we were two couples. The rooms were very comfortable and we all had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was really good cooked beautifully and piping hot. « Very good »

The day staff were polite and helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was a delight. Really cosy. It went a little wrong in the evening however. When myself and my mate returned around 11 o'clock the night receptionist seem very irritated she had to do something. I asked for a couple of sandwiches and a bucket of ice to be sent to the room, again she seemed very displeased by having to do something other that sit. A real shame.

    « Always Good »

Everything from the start was very good. Polite booking in with the staff and when I realised I had booked the wrong type of room the staff on welcome could not work fast enough to put it right, (they didn't have too) and a nice upgrade thrown in. The Hotel is spotless and very presentable. the room was very presentable and clean. All the staff are very polite. Did not use the bar, but it looked smart. Breakfast was a buffet style and satisfying. There is table menu that you can some little extras from and staff are available if want something topped up. No problem getting to bring extra tea and coffee.

    « Christmas trip »

Me and my mother stayed here for a Christmas break and we really enjoyed the stay the staff was really helpful and even went out of their way on a few occasions to make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. The food was gorgeous and was happy to know that all the food was local and fresh. The food was very presentable and couldn't find any thing wrong. The rooms was nice and comfortable always kept clean all i have to fault for the roooms is the shower as we had trouble with the temperature setting as i was either cold or too hot to touch. The hotel is located in a nice area to go for a nice walk. I would recommend this hotel to friends and i am even thinking of returning in the near future.

« Manager Mannering from Dads Army »

Don't get me wrong , good hotel up till now great staff, helpful , kind and professional , Until the new manager spoke to us like we were children and carried on talking to his staff in the same way, no respect he reminds me of Dads army. I felt like it was a TV show , I was looking for the hidden cameras , this is a country hotel easy going up till now,,,,very stiff ah well things change

« A beautiful hotel, convenient for Birmingham airport »

We found everything at this hotel gleaming and in apple pie order, all very fresh and clean and well maintained. The standards here are very high, and the décor immaculate. The food was faultless for taste, quality, freshness and presentation, in fact perfection was achieved here for both dinner and breakfast. Only two teeny weeny problems - the staff member in charge of breakfast had not been made aware that we had paid for this in advance, so I had a rather embarrassing fumble in my bag to provide the proof! The stainless steel breakfast coffee pots just would not pour without dribbling on the tablecloth which was naughty of them! We would definitely recommend this hotel, and will certainly be returning for another stay ourselves.

« Start of our honeymoon »

We stopped here as part of our honeymoon and the night before we flew off to Mexico via BHX airport. The staff were really friendly and the hotel is very clean, tidy and inviting. We were also upgraded to the best room which received no complaints from us what so ever. Thank you for making the start of our honeymoon a very memorable one.

« Unimpressed with most aspects of this hotel »

I stayed here for one night due to a work meeting at the hotel. The room was nice enough and clean but I left feeling unimpressed and disappointed with the hotel and the facilities. The food in their restaurant was mediocre for both breakfast and dinner. The service was slow and there wasn't much choice at the buffet. The juices were about to run out and the fruit selection was poor. We were down early but it looked like everything needed replenishing which it wasn't. We had lunch provided as part of the conference facilities and we all felt there wasn't enough food provided and all in very small portions. The conference facilities also weren't great, the room was nice and big but hot, none of the staff knew where the ac controls were. Our projector had dots all over the bulb which greatly affected the presentation as it interrupted words and pictures. Overall it felt like a real let down as the building is lovely to look at and the rooms rather pretty but the quality fell short of where you would expect it to be.

    « Great Hotel »

This hotel is really well located for Birmingham & West Midlands. easy access to motorway, NEC & Airport. Excellent quality hotel, with friendly, pleasant & helpful staff. food was very good quality. Situated in a pleasant village with local shops and pubs offering alternative dining. However, we ate at the hotel and were not dissapointed. Will definitely stay here again

« Good place to stay »

Second time we've stayed here when attending an exibition at NEC. Lovely room, clean and comfortable. Everything you would expect from a hotel room. Breakfasts were good, with good choice and well presented. Staff were very friendly and very helpful both times we stayed. a couple of pubs within walking distance, both of which served food too. I would recommend it!

    « Wedding »

Why would you want a wedding here? This is why Just a note to say we had a fantastic Day/night, Dallas was superb as our host as we had a few niggles we didn't know about and it was sorted in a flash without people knowing, a sign of experience and coolness . compliments to your heafchef and team, food was excellent, hot, filling and waiters/waitresses were friendly and efficient lots of positive comments on the chicken dinner, especially how well it was cooked as was the potato, so filling as well as the starters/desserts. Room looked fantastic on the day and night and would recommend your venue to anyone. Perfect location's for photo's as well. Many thanks Mr & Mrs Radburn

    « Great stay »

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while exhibiting at the NEC. Nice hotel, comfortable bed, is a little small when you are used to a super king. I would recommend booking 2 singles rather than a double if you value your sleeping space. restuarant chef is superb and all the staff were very friendly. Bar food was average. Really cannot fault our stay.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Lovely room and bathroom, nicely decorated and furnished. There were tea & coffee making facilities although they were very mean with the amount of tea bags etc. left in the room. Shower was very temperamental and we found it difficult to adjust the water temperature. Room was very hot at night in spite of the heater being turned off and the window open. Food was very expensive and there was no real ale available in the bar so we were forced to eat elsewhere.

    « Great stay »

We were going to the Genting Arena to see ELO and found this hotel by default - what a lovely mistake that was! Beautiful building, lovely rooms and helpful staff. We did have lunch at the Bull pub just down the road which was great but the menu at the hotel looked very appealing and if we had stayed longer would definitely have tried it. Breakfast could have been better organised by changing just a few processes - such as have the glasses for the fruit juices by the fruit juices in stead everyone had to go back to their table and bring their own, no chance of taking a juice and water - no glasses! Buy in better hash browns they were in pieces and not a whole one amongst them! Perhaps not cooked enough so they were just breaking up?? the black puddings were sliced paper thin - i have never seen this before please slice them properly. The teapots really were an issue - every table had BIG tea stains where the teapot could not pour without dripping tea onto the table. It wasn't just out table - as we walked out we couldn't see a table without the stains! Save on laundry bills. I have to congratulate you on the quality of the sausages, superb pork flavour with just a hint of seasoning - please could you let me know where they were from? Overall a lovely stay and we look forward to coming back soon.

    « Birthday meal for 8 »

Nice food very well presented but let down with the service. The staff were not attentive enough, particularly towards the dessert and coffee stage. I don't like to rush, as we were all happy to spend time together, but I had to get up and go over to the staff to move things on to the next course. The staff were standing with their arms folded and chatting in the corner. On the menu one of the desserts had a word missing so it wasn't clear and needed explanation, I would have expected that this would have been made clear when handing out the menus. I had to go over to ask for coffee to be served, no one asked who wanted what, they simply bought over 8 coffees but not everyone wanted coffee, there were no little Chocolates bought over to accompany the coffee, so again I had to go and find someone to bring them. When they did arrive the had just been tipped on the plate upside down. We have been the manor many times over the years. I doubt we will return ??

    « Hidden gem »

We arrived at this hotel after our visit to Disney on ice at the NEC. We arrived at the reception and we were greeted by the staff and we felt at home straight away. The staff were very welcoming and couldn't have been more attentive my wife uses a wheelchair and the gentleman on reception asked if needed an adaptive room? But we had a family room so this would be adequate for us. Entering the room we were pleasantly surprised, the room was cosy and well presented and very roomy. At first we couldn't find the tea & coffee making facilities ?? But after some searching we found it in the cupboard. One thing maybe they could include a few more milk pots and as it was a family room maybe more than two cups? Although the staff were very obliging when you ask for more. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

    « Overnight stay »

Excellent stay. Very accommodating with early check in available. Room/bathroom clean and comfortable. Lunch time food excellent and well presented although should use white plates instead of dated wooden platters that are cracked with a risk of contamination especially for vegetarian food. Staff helpful and pleasant. Plenty of parking available. Good location. Would visit again.

    « Handy for NEC »

Large Hotel with friendly helpful staff. Short drive to the NEC and equally good for walking out in the country side. Very pleased with quiet and good sized room. Car park always full and designed for previous generation of cars and slim people. They had a 200 person wedding so we thought the kitchens might be a bit busy and walked down the road to the Bull inn which serves really good food.

Lovely hotel. Room service was my only complaint. But this was dealt with by the manager in the best possible way. She showed me what excellent customer service is. She would be a credit to any hotel. After care at its best!!!! Room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable; I could of stayed in it all day! !! ??

« For an AA 4* hotel with such a good reputation I wasn't expecting those dirty rooms »

I have recently stayed at this 4* hotel , with my husband and our friends , we had the rooms 214&215 . From the pictures and reviews we expected the hotel to be very nice and to provide good services , but surprise ... the rooms we had were absolutely filthy and not even basic cleaning carried out . Both rooms were dusty , my room 215 even worse , could touch anything without finding dust on . - The kettle was so dirty and dusty that I couldn't even use it . -The presentation of the rooms ..... completely missing ( valances of the twin beds joined together weren't matching ) , bed looked horrible . - pillow case and towels were stained - the toilet was all over dirty ( pee stains all over poring down the bowl and on the base as well with pubic hair attached ) , in the other room 214 the toilet was dirty as well same stains plus blood spots ( just disgusting ) . A maid was sent to clean it but she hasn't done it properly as some Staines down the bowl were still there after ( probably they were too old) - the shower dial controls were not cleaned and the curtain rail very dirty and rusty - the sink tap on the bottom side was dirty same as the water stopper inside the sink - all vanity unit around the sink was extremely dusty ( see pictures ) - coffee & tea shelf was dusty and sticky ( see pictures) - there was an old hair dryer holder attached on the wall without hair dryer ( which probably got removed ) and I wonder why maintenance couldn't take it down if is not used ..... but I know why ....to collect the dust in it .....( see pictures ) - a magazine on the dressing table was dated Spring 2015 So to resume the housekeeping part I am horrified , not even the basic cleaning has been carried out for the new guests to stay in . I can't understand how they can receive guests in those rooms , no respect at all for the money we're spending there . The furniture was very old in the hotel especially in the bedrooms . The few good points in this hotel are : - the bed was quite comfortable - the staff were friendly - the salon for breakfast I found it very nice and the food all right , enough but the croissants weren't replenished when ended ( oh yeah and a hair was found on the tongs )

« Very good in parts, only. »

Stayed three nights b & b and attended a 'banquet' for a family anniversary. The attention to detail, presentation of room, food and general facilities for the 'banquet' could not be faulted. Well done. The public areas were sparkling clean, as was the room, which was spacious and well-appointed. Staff were generally courteous and friendly. Faults - the room despite being on the 2nd floor had no lift and was a long way from reception. The breakfast was at times shambolic. Despite a printed menu, not all food was always available and had to be requested. Tea and coffee are help yourself i.e. teabag in a cup, that's not good enough for a leisurely meal in a hotel with pretensions. The machines serving coffee and hot water not reliable and were out of action by the third morning. We were given a battered metal teapot which didn't pour correctly. At checkout, in addition to our bar bill, we were asked to pay an extra £40+ with no explanation. Later contact showed the hotel had charged a VAT-exclusive price. I paid but with a bad grace.

« Breakfast coffee lets the hotel down »

Stayed one night to attend NEC. Although needing updating the room was clean and airy. Chose to stay here because Best Western and expecting a certain standard. Looked forward to my coffee at breakfast but this was such a disappointment. Two small self service machines where you could take your "transport cafe" mug to fill up. One machine was out of order and there was quite a queue. Coffee was tasteless and although the table had a lovely crisp white tablecloth the mug had no saucer so where to put the spoon after stirring the coffee? Very disappointing and expected more. Also something to be aware if you are using this hotel for the NEC - it cost me over £22 for a taxi each way. The hotel website says its 3 miles from the NEC but both taxi drivers told me it was 5 each way. Quite a hefty extra charge for a night's stay.

« Average One night stay »

Stayed here last night as we went to see Adele perform. First impressions were good. Was able to park out front and check-in was smooth and the receptionist was friendly. The room seemed pleasant at first until you start to notice the stains on the bedding and the towels. This is when I asked my partner how much he paid and whether it was a 3 star or not. I was utterly shocked to find out it cost £115. This hotel might look nice as you wonder around the lobby but the housekeeping of the rooms certainly needs attention. Stains on the bedding and towels. Also the dusty TV and bedside table lamps are a no go especially for a hotel that is meant to be a 4 star and charging £115. For this lack of attention to detail I rate this hotel as average. No menu in the room to be able to order room service. Also No mention of this in the guest information book either so cannot show images or pass comment on the food. Breakfast was included with the stay but this stops at 09:30 after a late night out this wasn't something we were entertaining the thought of getting up for. Would I recommend? Probably not as I don't think we had value for money. I've stayed in many 4 star hotels and the standards of the housekeeping let it down. Would I return? Only if it was half the price.

    « Dissapointing »

We stayed tuesday night. No issues with the hotel or room we requested a room service menu from reception and were informed it was in our room, it wasn't. So called down and were told it would be up straight away we waited 45 mins before calling down again for them to then bring one. That morning we were awaken by banging at 6.30am to pipe work which continued until we left. Not a great experience.

« Nice hotel, good breakfast, and restaurant, clean and spacious »

Bar staff really slow, and not at all informative, no one cleared our table, so we ended up moving to a clean table! Reception more helpful and restaurant staff.. Nice clean rooms, although not enough hot water for a bath.. If you have a groupon voucher for a 'sparkling afternoon tea' prepare to be disappointed, we had a huge plate of cheap sweet cakes, sarnies were not part of the tea apparently.. very disappointing.

    « Groupon trip »

We booked this for a cheap getaway over Easter weekend. Sadly I had a bad cold so we were unable to enjoy the weekend more but the deal included afternoon tea, breakfast and two tickets to Warwick castle. We had a normal double room, which was tidy and clean. Good, free WiFi, comfy bed and tea and coffee making facilities. Water pressure in shower was a bit dodgy but managed a shower, our complementary soap was binned after the first night despite it barely being used so didn't have another to wash hands with, which was a bit strange but luckily we had some with us. Breakfast was included which was your typical breakfast fare. Nice and well cooked. Had to ask for some proper coffee as stuff in machine wasn't great but staff were friendly and helpful and brought filter coffee over. Some of the crockery was a big tired looking but understandable when it's as busy as the hotel is. We had afternoon tea which was nice. A little sweet, having a sandwich option would have been good. We didn't eat there in the evening due to me not feeling well but the menu looked good and reasonably priced. There was a wedding on the second night and we didn't hear a thing which was nice. Our room was a bit of a walk from reception but that was fine. Gardens looked nice and overall perfectly fine and worth the package deal. Well situated for Birmingham airport and NEC in a nice little village. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.

« Comfortable Hotel with a great breakfast »

Nice modern hotel about 10 mins cab journey from the NEC and ten minutes from airport. Nice food to be had in the hotel bar, would recommend booking a table in advance as it tends to get quite busy. Bar staff are a little slow, so need to be patient, but overall a perfectly adequate place to stay if you are heading to the Birmingham/NEC area for business

« Trade Association meeting catered well but Bar Staff- so slow!!!!!! »

Part of a Trade Association- held a quarterly meeting at the Motorcycle Museum. Only 15 minutes from Hotel. Networking dinner at Hotel. 60+ diners. Catered for very well with pre-arranged menu. Well organised. Service staff knew what they needed to do. Bar Staff in main bar afterwards were so slow. Many people went elsewhere to pubs in village. Breakfast was well presented & very good. Expansive Hotel. Good & easy parking. Rooms clean & typical Best Western. Wifi was available in rooms. Mobile Telephone reception( Vodafone ) however was weak.

    « Lovely hotel :-) »

Great hotel , so handy for the NEC just a few minutes drive away ! Lovely clean spacious room, we could have done with more than one pack of biscuits between two lol ! Fabulous breakfast , amazing scrambled eggs too. Had supper in the bar area, which was extremely noisy as the football was on very loud ! We asked to change tables , but was told that they had been pre booked , on leaving , the tables were still empty ! Parking was great as my friend is disabled , we found a spot just outside of the back door. Would happily stay again !

    « Nothing special. »

Food was not good, at all, in the restaurant. It's like the chef is overthinking the dishes and adding odd combinations. The bar manager was awesome. She found us what we were wanting to drink. We were part of a group. The dinner served for the group was terrible! We had upgraded to an executive room, thankfully, but it was average, although it was clean. Parking was a nightmare! No lift, so pack light.

    3
    « Slightly disappointing »

We booked this through Groupon for an overnight stay and were a little disappointed. The room was clean and tidy although there wasn't enough hot water for a bath. We had the evening meal which was ok although they seem to be trying a little too hard with the nouvelle cuisine. The service was good and the staff friendly and we didn't have any issues parking. Breakfast, on the other hand, was very good. The afternoon tea was pretty awful with no sandwiches and lots of high sugar sweets and slightly stale scones. The service was crummy; perhaps they knew we had booked through Groupon? The next table seemed to have a rather more acceptable service and food.

    « parking chaos »

We have stayed at this hotel on many occasions before flying out from Birmingham airport. The last few occasions there has been nowhere for us to park which seems ridiculous as it is advertised on many sites for airport park and stay. We recently stayed and were asked by the receptionist if we could get up earlier before leaving for the airport to find somewhere to park, considering a taxi had just been booked for 4am this would mean getting up at 3am!! Complete chaos!!!

    « Crufts »

Excellent place to stay for visiting the NEC. The reception staff were very helpful when I booked in, and changed my allocated room as the original was on the second floor, with no lift, & I had 2 dogs with me. All the staff were helpful & friendly.

    « Wonderful stay »

I stayed as part of a large group during the Crufts weekend and I could not say a bad word about our stay! We were upgraded to an executive room which was pristine throughout. Our evening meal was delicious, portion size was great. The breakfast was nothing short of outstanding! What a huge selection of delicious hot and cold food. We had planned a hen party for one of our group which was really noisy, the reception staff kindly let us use part of the foyer so as not to disturb other guests. I could not recommended the hotel enough. Thank you for making our stay so special!

    « Crufts 2016 »

A group of us stayed here for crufts 2016. There were approx 25 of us. We preordered our dinner which still took time to arrive and it was cold. Dessert arrived and it was cold also. for such a big hotel, they should be used to catering for big numbers at any one time. Cannot fault the staff. They were great. Esp Simon at the front desk! I'm glad he liked the cupcake!! The rooms were spacious but not what I expected when booking superior. Was thinking of something a little more grand but again couldn't complain, they were clean and comfortable. It would deff be a hotel we would think about using for crufts again next year.

    5
« Excellent stay from beginning to end »

Not sure why you'd review this place badly, I've stayed in numerous Best Westerns, they're always pretty good and this one is no exception. We were staying a couple of nights whilst attending Crufts, Friday and Saturday night. It has a great frontage, impressive looking and it's in a nice little area, good start. On arrival served promptly and processed without any fuss, second floor room. No lift but that's not the end of the world, you get to admire the impressive chandelier on your way up the stairs! Great room, a nice size, spotlessly clean, big TV, free wifi and everything worked ... all you want from a hotel room frankly. Shower powerful enough to remove skin ... After a pretty disastrous visit to the Bulls Head down the road for our Friday evening meal (avoid this place, trust me ... It's awful) we decided to eat in the InnKeepers lodge bar and grill attached to the hotel on the Saturday night. Reasonably priced simple grub and service faultless. Spot on. We look forward to staying here next year when Crufts is on again!

« Great location to the NEC with fabulous surroundings »

We chose this hotel as we were visiting the NEC and needed somewhere close for 24 people to stay in the same place. The outlook of the hotel is very impressive and the reception staff were very welcoming. The rooms were very comfortable with a big television and everything in the room that you could need in a hotel room. The only downfall was the service at dinner time. We had pre-ordered our meals to make things easier but a lot of the people felt their meal was below standard due to it being cold or not cooked to their desire (steaks over done) There is a lovely atmosphere around the hotel and we would definitely be staying there again.

    « Not the best »

We held my mum's 50th birthday party here. The event manager that assisted us was very helpful and friendly. However, the room and catering was quite pricey for what it was. With regards to staying here, the rooms are also quite pricey for what they are and are in need of modernization. Wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

« Overall nice hotel with some minor niggles »

The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are helpful and smart and the food is good. The car parking spaces are very tight, especially if you have a larger vehicle (estate car or larger). Houston's Grill was very busy the night we ate there. Long delay for food to arrive but it was really tasty when it did come.

« Not the greatest of Best Western »

Booked this hotel for valentines weekend. Upon arriving there was no one on the front desk and had to wait a few minutes. Then after you climb some very glamorous looking stairs you get to the top and walk into 1972. Off along a very long corridor, lots of twists and turns and doors. Which you kind of expect if you book a basic room. But because I booked a superior room I expected a little less of a walk. Into the room, where the carpet was separated from the edges of room. I was feeling a little parched from the long walk. But I had to hunt high and low for the tea and coffee making facilities as nothing was explained or any direction given. The American grill restaurant was a good touch however. Fish and chips seemed to be a popular choice and I always opt for a burger, of which mine was well cooked with a nice amount of pink in the middle so it wasn't over cooked. Back in the room, went to relax to find only one dressing gown had been hung up. Quick call to reception to get another one!! Breakfast in the morning wasn't a great experience, broken coffee machines leaving a que of 15 people. Empty fruit juice dispensers and was given a dodgy look and asked why, when I asked if I could have an avocado!! All in all was expecting a better experience for the money I spent. Don't let the photography of the outside fool you, it isn't surrounded by green fields.

    « Very disappointing »

It helps to sleep. That's why I overnighted the day before Crufts. That's why I paid well over £100. It was going to be a long long day. Room 202 was directly next to a humongous venting chimney. Now I am not an insomniac or light sleeper, but after lying awake for 4 hours at the sound of what appeared to be a Jumbo taking off outside the room I rang down. We can't move you and we can't turn it off I was told. At four a.m. I managed to sleep till my alarm went off at 5.30. On speaking with the duty manager I was promised some money off my bill but two days later I have heard nothing. Mytrip to Crufts was effectively ruined ... this absolutely needs looking at and the room drastically reduced In price . I await management comments and resolution for my ruined night.

    « Lovely Hotel »

Stayed here for a business trip/conference. The hotel is lovely, very clean and well laid out. The rooms are spacious and equipped with all you need. Wifi was good in the room although some areas of the hotel struggle to get signal. We ate in the Houston Bar and the food was good, typical bar food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Conference facilities were excellent.

    « Restaurant management »

Have stayed here a few times before, and then came here for a meal for 8 guests. Ate in the regency restaurant for a change. Started off well, busy ish but not too busy so you felt uncomfortable. Great menu selection (only suggestion is that the hotel provides more vegetarian option - one of my guest had no choice by to have the Mac and truffle pie, and although it was very nice it wasn't what she fancied) Service great, was only two girls working (which we thought was outrageous considering there was atleAst 30 people in) and we were mainly looked after by Natalie. Very bubbly and lively girl. Throughout the night a table of 14 arrived and they were rather rude and loud. Foul language coming out of their mouths was appalling so we asked Natalie if we could speak to the manager. No less than a minute later the other female working came over and introduced herself as Sian. She explained that we wasn't the manager but she was the shift leader and was more than happy to assist with our complaint of the noise. Within a few minutes she got Natalie to relay another table for us on the other side of the restaurant and then kindly went and asked the loud table to keep the noise down. She moved all of our drinks and coats for us. She even helped my 96 year old nan walk to the table! And she is slow and it probably wasted a lot of time when Sian probably had a lot to be getting on with (because there was only 2 of them working) There was no fuss, no drama, she instantly dealt with the issue professionally and effectively. We felt like nothing was too much trouble for Sian and throughout the night she was there checking everything and ensuring we were happy. Why this young girl isn't the manager or atleast a supervisor is beyond me. Shift leader hardly feels like a role that's worth anything these days. After the meal 2 of us then went to the bar and grill for a drink where we met a young gentlemen, who had no name badge. However during conversation with him we found out lost his badge that day in the washing machine and that his name was Logan. Bit rough round the edges and a Very shy chap but he was very focused on what he was doing and very polite. Kept up the customer service and made conversation whilst still cleaning and doing the job. I feel like with a bit of confidence he would be fantastic. I love this hotel and will 100% return again!

I have stayed here a number of times over the ladt 6 months and have been impressed by the level of service from the staff. Front desk are helpful and efficient. Food in the bar is reasonable but generic average beer. The rooms are large enough and clean. I have always had a good night's sleep.

« Not really "superb" or "plus" »

It's close to the NEC. It's in a busy business area. It's close to the motorways. Which is why I think they don't try harder. It could be superb - the rooms are big and clean, the beds are comfortable, it has a restaurant and a bar - but something is not quite right. Setting up for breakfast while people are finishing their evening meals. In a mostly empty restaurant, taking people to tables that have not been fully set. Dry overcooked food that fails to live up to the menu promise. Undrinkably weak breakfast coffee. Super narrow car park spaces (so you can't open your door). A strange humming noise all night in the room at the level that just prevents sleep. And reception staff that can't be bothered to ask how your stay was. But I guess if you are full due to where you are then why bother going the extra mile.

    5
    « Really very nice »

Attending the Caravan and camping show at the NEC, we had an overnight here on the Sunday night. Spotless and smart, cheerful staff a nice big room with a massive bed! No restaurant service but small meals available in the bar. Disappointing wine list but the sharing plate was very good.

    « An excellent find! »

We booked this hotel for a weekend Valentine break & from the time we arrived everything was excellent. The staff were so friendly & helpful, the room was a little dark, with bushes almost immediately outside the window, but otherwise it was nice & warm, well decorated & big, the TV was big screen, the room was very clean & well laid out. Our meal, we chose the set meal from the gala menu, was excellent; camembert for starters, chateaubriand for mains & a lovely type of fruit brulee for dessert, all were simply delicious! We were even given a pack of question cards to keep us 'amused' over dinner. Sadly the event was not that well supported, but not the fault of the hotel. Unfortunately we had to leave early, on the Sunday morning, due to notified family health problems, but the reception staff were so understanding; we even received a refund for that night, something I was not expecting. We will definitely visit again. A chance find on the internet turned out to be a real gem!

« Poor bar service ....Business stop over near to NEC »

7 of us stayed over at the Best Western as we were exhibiting at the packaging innovations NEC. The hotel does looking amazing from the outside. The rooms are just excellent modern very clean great shower. The first night we ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent. The biggest let down for me and my colleagues was the bar. Drinks on the first night was ok snacks was only pretzels and olives. If you order olives they take just absolutely ages as they don't come from the bar. Twice in the first night I had to ask what gad happened to our olives ....... And again on the second night. Night two again the bar...... This time it was really very busy, around 10 plus people at the bar wanting to order drinks, one bar guy trying to do his best. The other side of the bar two staff red headed girls ( who earlier where serving drinks ) where just chatting away for ages totally oblivious of the growing crowd at the bar. One of my colleagues eventually lost his temper at the very long wait at the bar and asked them if they intended to actually to any work??????, they both looked very embarrassed and one of them straight away started helping out at the bar. Loved the hotel, food, rooms, bar area needs sorting out asap as it lets down the whole experience of the the stay at the Best Western.

« Good facilities and good meal »

Stayed here for 1 night for a business event being held at the hotel. Looks very nice on the outside and parking was nice and easy. Arrived about 8.30pm and was booked in quickly. When I arrived at my room it was a twin room with two single beds but as I had booked a King room, I called to reception to see if there were any available to swap to. The lady was very helpful and apologised for not putting me in the room I had booked and changed me to an executive King room, even meeting me half way with the room key as corridors are a little long! Room good size with nice big tv and amenities in bathroom provided. As I was staying alone I contemplated room service but decided I fancied a walk so headed to the Houston's restaurant. Was not made to feel rushed or uncomfortable with being alone as sometimes happens, food was nice and what I expected, staff were not overly attentive but it was quite late by this time. Overall, a good stay that I would recommend and stay again.

« The devil is in the details »

No warm welcome, no information regarding breakfast facilities or location, no assistance offered with our luggage, no morning newspaper offered (we had to ask) and the non-functioning lamp in our room that we immediately notified the front desk about was not repaired or replaced during our stay

    « Business Trip »

Myself and 2 colleagues stayed at this hotel before attending a training course at Warwick University. We had an excellent meal in the a la carte restaurant, the good was very good and service excellent. The rooms were large and airy and well equipped.

    « Average »

Booked in here for two nights, very disappointed though. I thought the whole place was bordering on shabby and definitely not worth the high price we paid which didn't even include breakfast!!! Bits n the bedroom had missed being cleaned I.e. Finger marks on mirrors etc The bedroom was a massively long walk from reception which was tedious every time we needed something. The restaurant was also a huge let down, it was cold and dismal, I asked to be moved to a table with some light, it wasn't ambient, just dark. Main course was ANOTHER let down, only one choice as I am vegetarian so it was like it or lump it....so I had the macaroni pie...supposedly with cocoa in the pastry, didn't like the sound of that combination but there was nothing else I could have had. When it arrived it was pastry with Thyme not cocoa .....the taste of the thyme was sooo over powering I couldn't taste anything else. I asked the waitress who said it was cocoa, I then asked her to question the kitchen and she returned saying yes it was Thyme!!!!!! I thought the whole dining experience was pretentious and horrible and expensive too. If you are thinking of coming to this hotel.....eat out, there are three other places very nearby of similar price and fantastic food. Two good points though....the bed was very comfortable and was close to the NEC. This place is average and you can certainly get better for less money.

« Huge hotel well appointed and clean »

I have stayed here on business twice in Feb 2016 for a total of 6 nights. This is a huge hotel and it could take quite a while to get to your room from reception, I was a little surprised that they do not have any lifts. Both times check in was very good. There is parking to the front and rear however if you park in the rear you will need a code to get out which you get from reception. There are two restaurants one fine dining and the second called Houstons is more cheap and cheerful, the menu here is limited and one evening I ordered the Chicken and chips and when I was half way through the chicken it was full of blood, when I told the waiter all he said was that the chef was 'sorry' not really good enough. My advice would be to walk half a mile down the road to the Bull where the food is a lot better. My rooms were nice and clean and on the second stay the room they gave me had a noisy air con unit and they moved me to a better room straight away. It is in a good location if you are attending the NEC or flying out of the airport. The breakfast is very good and nice and hot and plenty of choice.

    « Not very impressed »

Stayed here for the one night to celebrate Valentine's weekend. We decided to book an Executive King Size room but when we checked in the room was quite small & quite dirty, there was dust in quite a few places. The window was filthy dirty & it looks as though this was a family room as there was an adjoining door, this is not what we paid for. We went to the bar & grill for a drink & something to eat, we had barely sat down & was asked what we wanted to drink, the waitress then stood there waiting & we felt under pressure to order something as soon as we could. When our meal came this was slammed down & noticed that the couple next to us each was treated the same. There did not seen any atmosphere at all while we were there which was disappointing. We were not asked once if the meal was Ok. Breakfast the next morning we told the waitress our room number & was taken to a table right more or less at the back of the restaurant, was not asked if this was ok even though there were lots of tables closer to the front. Was then told that the coffee machine was very temperamental & if we wanted a coffee to ask but then she went, could see a lot of people trying to mess around with trying to fix it to no avail so eventually asked for a pot of coffee. The cooked breakfast had all the usual buffet style breakfast but ran out of bacon as we got there & then had to wait for this to be replenished, fried & scrambled egg were cold. When we then checked out asked the receptionist if we were stopping in an Executive Room as this seemed quite small to be told yes & if we wanted a larger room then to book a superior executive room, no apologies were given & did not ask at all if everything was ok with the stay. Quite disappointing really as we are Best Western members & never really have a problem as we like to go away at least once a month however this will definitely make us think again about booking with Best Western.

    « Airport park & stay »

Stayed here for one night before a flight from Birmingham. Hotel is simple to find with no problem finding parking. The facade of the hotel is impressive - a very attractive building. Our room was ok. We were given a disability access room with open shower - unfortunately, there was a lot of obvious hair left by the shower plug from a previous guest, which made me wonder about the hygiene level everywhere else if this had been overlooked! The room was adjoined to another room, and the adjoining door wasn't locked when we arrived - thankfully we didn't assume the hotel had done the sensible thing and locked it when the last guest checked out. We ate in the American style restaurant and the food was fine - nothing special and quite greasy but ok. Restaurant staff were very friendly and professional. All in all, a fine hotel for a quick stay, but concerns over hygiene due to hairy shower and greasy food means I'll probably opt for a different accommodation next time.

« STAY HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR BROKEN INTO! »

We had the misfortune of staying here recently and left our car for the duration of our holiday. On our return I found my car window smashed and a few items stolen from the boot, nothing of any great value, but I still had to fork out £250 for a replacement window and winder mechanism. The hotel has CCTV which picked up nothing at all and the hotel refuse to accept any liability for the damage, even though the Duty Manager admitted to me that they have a constant problem with cars being broken into. Not only was my car damaged but another car near mine had been done along with several others. Despite this the hotel still refuse to acknowledge they have a problem with crime on their premises! The staff were not very helpful at all and did not have a clue how to handle the situation. The General Manager informs me they regularly patrol the car park however the Duty Manager admitted he didn't know how long my car had been exposed to the elements for which proves these patrols are not happening! The General Manager also told me the reason the incident was missed by the CCTV is because the mast the camera was attached to had been knocked over by a customer reversing into it, but the CCTV cameras are attached to the side of the hotel, so yet again another lie to try and deflect the blame from them!! The car had been left for days with a smashed window and exposed to the elements and all the hotel offered was some gaffer tape and a bin bag to patch up the window for the 2 hour drive home in the rain! They refuse to accept any blame for the situation even though they fail to adequately protect customers against the crime problem this hotel clearly has! The hotel room itself was small and uncomfortable, not what I would expect for a supposedly 4 star hotel! I would obviously not stay here again and would advise anyone else not to do so unless you want your vehicle damaged!

« Service and Quality of food outweigh all other issues »

I stayed here for 5 nights during Spring Fair. On arrival late Saturday i did overhear that it was first come first served when it comes to rooms. I arrived at mine to find an adjoining door which really bothers me and i understand from many other females travelling alone that it is a no-no. I can put a chain across the front door but not the adjoining door! I asked to be moved to be told no more rooms available. I really must have been last in. Having pushed the tv cabinet in front of the door i relaxed and settled in. Single bed on a 70's looking divan with what looked like a put-me-up next to it but all in all a comfortable bed for the night with a clean bathroom . I think i was in the kids room part of a family room!! I did arrive when a party was in full swing downstairs and didn't hear a thing which was appreciated. The decor in the bar and restaurant could do with a little bit of an uplift but again, the quality of food and level of service was absolutely fantastic. Breakfast was run of the mill buffet and came with the standard teapot that leaks all over the table whatever you do. I'd love to take this place and redecorate throughout but the people make it great. I'd stay again.

We chose to hold our daughters 21st themed party In The Cedars Suite.Meetings prior to the evening to ensure all requirements were met, gave a comforting impression that the prime importance was indeed customer satisfaction and communication was excellent and friendly at all times. The evening was a huge success . Dallas was amazing being so helpful and obliging . Buffet was superb and praised by everyone .Vibe DJ topped the night with his fabulous disco and photo booth gave amusement to all . All guests that stayed overnight thoroughly enjoyed their weekend complimenting our choice of venue, food and entertainment. « Hotel and airport parking »

Great hotel, room really comfortable with large TV. Staff lovely and the food was excellent. Convenient for airport parking and the price we paid included a taxi to and from the airport. Would definitely stay here if I was using the Nec or airport. The hotel facilities are great and was impressed with the cleanliness especially the toilets.

    « Nice hotel »

stayed for one night on business, very large hotel, nice rooms, good food, poor wifi and even worse phone signal (vodafone), Comfy rooms, very large flat screen TV, Nice evening meal in the american style restaurant, and a very good breakfast to leave.

    3
    « OK but unexciting »

The rooms are good but there are too many irritating bits about the rest of the hotel. In no particular order: - expect long and badly signposted walks to your room - the parking is very busy and badly laid out - breakfast is not great and certainly not up to European 4star standard - bar is low in style and atmosphere But the wifi works well, location is convenient and access to Birmingham airport is good

    « Perfect getaway »

This hotel raises the bar for other best Western Plus hotels in the UK when it comes to hospitality and good service. You get a very warm welcome at the time of check in ELLIE get full marks for that, the team at the Grill are friendly and prompt with the service. The GM Lucy Talbot walks the extra mile in doing all what it takes to full fill all almost every request ( with in reason to accommodate the guests....experienced this first hand. Breakfast was the next best thing that happened for us on the start of the day (Monday Blues) KRISTINA was brilliant with her service, made sure it was a fine dining experience in the morning.....what can I say.... THANX very much

    « Brilliant! »

This was our fourth time here for overnight stay, parking and taxi to and from Birmingham airport. Can't fault it. Check in is swift and professional, staff are always polite and friendly, the rooms are always comfortable. Houstons food suits us. The taxi service is always reliable. What more can you say? I think maybe an important point is that we're not treated as 'second class citizens', just because we're there for only one night and our car is there longer than us. All in all it has always been a great experience for us and we've recommended it to several friends.

    « Excellent deal »

Decided to grab a night away and really enjoyed ourselves. Excellent deal with afternoon tea, glass of prosecco, dinner & full breakfast included. Food was very good. We were given a very comfortable room away from wedding party that was taking place. Had a slight issue, as I left something behind when we left - the management were really helpful and the item was posted back to me.

« Could not fault it. »

This is an excellent hotel if you are a traveller to and from Birmingham Airport. Smooth check in, warm comfortable room, good standard of food at a reasonable price, 7 days car parking and a taxi to and from tha airport. What more would you want at a price that was VERY reasonable. Would definitely stay again.

    « Good airport hotel »

Stayed for one night prior to an early start for our holiady. Rooms well kept comfortable and clean. The car stayed at the hotel and they arranged a taxi to and from the airport both ways went without a hitch. The food was excellent we were surprised that the choice of menu had changed from that advertised on the website. All in all we would use the hotel again.

    « FREEEEEZING ! »

This is a lovely hotel by anyone's standards but my personal experience means I can't rate it as highly as I would like. I checked in (quick and easy) and then headed to my room, it was freezing cold. When it's -2 outside I would have expected the hotel to ensure the room was warm. I set the thermostat on the heating and headed for a meal. On my return the room was still freezing. A call to reception brought me a space heater and an explanation that a couple of rooms had problems with the heating and it would be looked at. The heater didn't really heat the room sufficiently and on returning to the room after a full day out the heating hadn't been repaired and despite the space heater being on all day the room is still cold. I really shouldn't be paying this much money to sit with a coat on ! Despite the cold, the room is very nice, spacious and clean (apart from the woman's lipstick I found under the desk on arrival). A large flat screen TV, plenty of storage and a very comfy bed. I had 2 meals in the bar and the food and service was top quality. There is wifi in the room and all over the hotel but this was poor and connections kept dropping out, I ended up tethering to my phone to get any work done. So in summary if the room had been warm and they had bothered to fix the heating after I reported it, this would have been a 5* review but leaving guests cold leaves me little option but to report this visit a disappointing one.

« Reliable Comfort and Relaxation »

Very clean and comfortable with a good, individually cooked, breakfast and close to the airport and NEC - all in a quiet location. I will visit frequently to and from the airport but recommend it also for the NEC and for the local golfing.

    3
    « Nice but dated »

Looks impressive from the outside. Fabulous building. No staff on reception when we arrived but eventually she heard us and came from the back office. Not a particularly warm welcome - no smile. Our room was located on the 1st floor through a rabbit warren of corridors. Occasional chairs along the way to rest which were shabby and spoilt the feel of the hotel. Didn't see a lift but there may have been one. The room was large with a nice view onto the back courtyard but viewed through grubby net curtains with a cigarette burn in them. The furniture was very dated. No tea or coffee making facilities AT ALL (which we should have checked as we do like our tea) and it was 2.85 each in the restaurant. The bed was 2 singles pushed together with a topper but very comfortable. Pillows were nice and soft and comfy. Flat screen TV. Air heating which wasn't brilliant given it was 1 degree. The bathroom was big and modernised with a great power shower over the bath. Lots of hot water and clean. Breakfast was not included in the price and was 10.00 per person(!) which we thought was a bit excessive as I only ever have cereal and toast. We didn't use the restaurant as we felt the prices were a little expensive so we went to the local Toby and had a fab meal for half the price. Good location for the NEC. Wouldnt stay again because of the lack of tea and coffee making facilities and the expensive breakfast. An OK hotel with delusions of grandeur without the grandeur.

« Christmas Eve before a Caribbean Cruise »

We spent a great night at Manor Hotel before going on a super cruise for Christmas and New Year. The hotel was as before very welcoming and was a great place for a super dinner before flying from Birmingham. Eve on Christmas Day morning. The staff were generous and helpful to two exited travellers away from home on the Holiday weekend. Our room was immaculate and there was plenty of room for our luggage. Transport to from the airport was also included in their Park and Fly package.

    « Excellent Stay »

Stayed overnight here last weekend for a family celebration and couldn't fault it. Room was lovely and warm - very clean and well stocked with teas, coffees etc. Bathroom had good selection of toiletries and lots of fresh towels. Many thanks to Housekeeping Manager Kieran Beirne and his staff - it was really excellent. Breakfast was also excellent, freshly cooked with as much or as little as you wanted. All staff were attentive and friendly. The only negative is the hotel could really do with a pool, even so I would certainly stay here again.

    « I'm Still Hungry!! »

I went for a meal to this establishment with friends and found that there was indeed a mixed bag. The entrance to the restaurant was on a notice but the entrance had a very bumpy slope and no handrails. I am disabled and so it was a very fraught entrance, not helped by the member of staff stating that there was a ramp at the main entrance, talking to me as if I know the layout of the place. There was only one disabled car parking bay near to this entrance which was already taken. Not a good start. The maitre D was a very accommodating young lady who showed us to the table as there was a funeral gathering in the pre meal bar so this was out of action. She was very friendly and made sure everything was OK for us. I went to use their disabled toilet facilities later, and found them well lit, new, clean and overall very very good. Well done there!! The meal was ordered along with drinks and they all got served by a very pleasant and attentive staff. Best Western has really good staff, keep this up team!! The meal was well cooked, and presented well, BUT....it wouldn't have fed a 5 year old!! When you pay £35 each for a 3 course meal I do expect a little more food, even if it's additional vegetables or the potato. Sorry Chef but this was not a full meal but a sampler. The dessert was of a reasonable size, but the starters and main....very very small. I won't be gracing this restaurant again until I know the size of meal is to increase. Overall the experience was made good by the staff, and the general pleasantness of the restaurant, but not the content.

Held a family engagement evening at The Manor Hotel. The night was perfect. Great staff, great room!! Thank you to everyone, especially the Chefs, the food was really really good, it went down so well everybody throughly enjoyed it. Thank you to the service team and the bar team!!

    « Lovely stay »

We stayed in room 124. The room itself was nice but the bathroom was for a disabled person which neither myself or husband are. The hotel was very quiet so why they put us in that room I don't understand. The breakfast as usual was excellent, really good choice and all good quality food. Will definitely stay again but will make sure when booking in it is not a disabled room.

    « A great weekend break »

This hotel gave us a relaxing weekend together. Only about 20 minutes from Birmingham we spent Saturday night at the Grand Central / Bullring shopping complex then returned to a comfortable bed in a quiet hotel. The traditional decor makes staying here feel like a holiday rather than a business trip to a bland hotel. In the morning we were surprised by the most delicious hotel breakfast we've eaten in ages. A large selection of hot and cold food, well cooked and very tasty, easily matching the breakfast in more expensive hotels. Service from staff throughout the hotel was excellent and would definitely stay again.

Came to the Manor for their All Inclusive New Years eve bash. This was the 2nd year running for us and i didn't think it could be better than last year...but it did.For the money you pay it is unbelievably good.Plenty of variation of drinks for all tastes (1664 in bottles..my favourite ) from beers to spirits and wine, along with a lovely hog roast, with wedges salad etc. Some of the people there wer moaning initially about one drink per person....my god grow up you morons. This was qucikly changed to,two per person.Very quick and efficient bar service by very friendly and professional bar staff

« Black Tie New Year's Eve, Dinner and Dance »

We booked a table for a New Year's Eve Dinner and Dance, with overnight stay. The dining room looked stunning when we entered for our Dinner Dance, the meal was excellent, and hot when served, and as the hotel were catering for around a hundred and fifty people, I was impressed with the service. The band and disco kept us dancing until the early hours, and all of our party commented on how good they were. The room for our overnight stay could not be faulted, and was very comfortable. I have requested information for next New Year's Eve.

    3
    « Lovely exterior »

Lovely setting and appearance. Very nice location. Price of drinks were very expensive. Only a diner serving bar food - no restaurant. Generally most staff were friendly. Unfortunately the hotel lacks atmosphere.

    « Relaxing Christmas »

We stayed at the Manor for four nights over Christmas 2015. I had asked for a ground floor room because my husband has mobility problems. We were allocated a room in the Princess Wing - very pleasant, clean, very comfortable bed and with everything we needed. Unfortunately on Christmas morning, there was a major problem with the washbasin drainage in the bathroom, but the problem was taken care of in a calm and efficient manner, and our belongings were transferred to another room while we were having breakfast. This room was on the first floor of the same wing - fortunately there is a lift. We hardly left the hotel as our prime reason for going away was to relax and we were able to do just that. We went to midnight mass at the local Parish Church and on our return there was hot chocolate and mince pies waiting for us. The meals were what we would have expected and the breakfast selection was excellent. All the staff we encountered, from reception to restaurant/bar staff to housekeeping staff were pleasant and helpful and we felt looked after. We are considering a return visit next Christmas.

    5
    « Exceptional - Best Christmas break we've had »

We booked thru super breaks and had room 220 an executive upgrade. On arrival we noted the very high standard of cleanliness - always an impressive start, and we weren't disappointed. From beginning to end the whole stay was excellent - in particular the organisation of the main meals - xmas eve dinner / xmas day lunch and boxing day dinner was impeccable. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and hats off to the kitchen team - flawless performance at the busiest time of the year - this is one is a 'keeper' and deserves a return visit

    « Christmas 2015 »

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch and stay at the Manor Hotel and would like to not let such an occasion go by without making official recogntion of this. The restaurant looked festive but elegant, the staff were unfailingly obliging and the meal, delicious. Throughout the evening, when most people expect to be at home with their families, staff on duty continued to be courteos and helpful. May we commend senior staff and particularly your manager who has the task of overall responsibilty.

« Clean, spacious and good value room »

I stayed at this hotel with some work friends after our Christmas party, and was very happy with my stay. Our party was at the Heart of England Conference Centre, and this was about a 10 min taxi ride away. My room was spacious and clean, and had a comfy bed and a big television. I slept well and didn't hear any noise from the adjoining rooms. I heard a bit of noise from the corridor when people came in late, but it didn't go on for long and wasn't a problem. There was plenty of space, and the room had a small table and chairs as well as a chair at the desk with a large mirror on the wall. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet, with a good selection of hot food and pastries. My only gripe was that the shower in my room wasn't very powerful, but it wasn't really a problem and my other friend's was fine so may be just a one off. I would happily stay here again.

Friendly smiling helpful staff a credit to the hotel. Even being part of a corporate booking made to feel very welcome. Lovely room. Comfortable bed. Everything you need to hand. Ample parking. Very handy for NEC

    « Felt a little let down. »

Stayed one night on business and found the rooms about "par for the course" nothing over special. My evening was spent in the bar area having a large fish and chip supper. The starter of prawns, I found somewhat tasteless, but the mains, delicious. I couldn't put my finger on the problem, but there was an incessant low noise all night (not unlike a distant generator). Tried the heating, the air-con, the bathroom extractor all to no avail. The breakfast was good, hot and massively varied.

« Excellent airport parking deal »

Just had one night stay in hotel with 15nights parking, taxi transfers to the airport included. Very reasonable price -better than any of the on-airport options. Hotel is clean, car park spacy and feels safe. Houstons grill brilliant for a meal - staff fantastic. Great start to the holiday - and the taxi to the airport was a Mercedes S class! Pick-up on arrival efficient. Wouldn`t hesitate to use again

    5
    « Super Service! »

Our last stay was less than perfect but the hotel offered us an upgraded room and we decided to give them a second chance. So glad we did, the room was very nice and we had a superb meal in the Houston restaurant thanks to Sian who was so friendly and professional and ably assisted by Rachel and Kristina. They could not have been more helpful and the food was excellent!

    4
« A great place to stay for the NEC »

The hotel is well presented and good value for money. The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. Be advised, the bathroom floors are tiled and can be very slippery. Breakfast was good quality only let down by cheap weak coffee, but that is personal preference of mine. The NEC is only 15 minutes away. There is ample parking and the location is quite. We ate our evening meal at the nearby Bull public house which was lovely. The only thing which spoilt our trip was a traveller wedding at the hotel which was allowed to continue until 3.30am which ruined our nights sleep. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again but I would check for weddings!

« Nice comfortable and classy hotel »

Stayed here one night on business. Hotel is in small village of Meriden and really handy for the NEC and the general area. The reception is freindly and welcoming and all went through with ease. The rooms are comfortable and of a good size. The bathroom was modern and had a bath. All was clean and tidy and there was a large tv with all freeview. Only real criticism of the hotel is the WiFi, in my room it was intermittent and sometimes hard to connect, it really needs sorting. I ate in the restaurant here. It's a banqueting room so wasdifficult to get an atmosphere, it's a little farcical because everyone goes to. The far end so the waiters end up having to walk 20 or so metres to you. On the subject of the waiters they are a little too subservient in a Basil Faulty kind of way, yes sir, please sir no sir, of course sir kind of way. I had the lamb which was good if a little overpriced. I think it was more like banquet standard than restaurant, hard to say what it was about it, perhaps a little too ordered on the plate. Overall a good place to stay if you are visiting the NEC and I would say good value for the standard if you get it under £100 as I did.

« Probably best sleep I have had in a UK hotel »

Business took me to Solihull/Birmingham. Best Wester Manor turned out to be perfectly located for my meetings. From the moment you step in you feel friendliness in the nice manor house. Spend some time working in the room. Nice room, good facilities, well functioning WIFI - did the job nicely. Had dinner with some business associates in the Hudson grill in the hotel - remember to reserve. It is difficult to get a table if the hotel is full. I have the best sleep I can remember in a hotel in UK. Good beds, very quiet location and a pleasant temperature - I will come back again just because of that. Good breakfast, fast service and no waiting time. Good quality and excelent value for money.

« Tiny Carpark And Horrid Staff »

Start with the good its a beautiful hotel with a nasty council estate next door. The car park is tiny with very narrow parking spaces this meant that my large car was pranged in night :-(. I then went to my room which was a very long walk from reception and as I had paid to upgrade to there top room I was expecting space and comfort but sadly I was very mistaken. The room and bathroom where very small and dated. The bed was very hard and I did not get much sleep. I had also paid extra for breakfast and this was completely inedible. To top everything off I accidently left an expensive item in my room by mistake so called the hotel 30min after my departure. I was told they would call me back which never happened so I drove all the way back to the hotel only to be told that someone was now staying in the room so they would not check and would call me the next day. again this did not happen. I then got a call nearly 2 weeks later saying it was not there and no one has seen it. as I new exactly where it was and told them this it means someone at the hotel stole it from my room but would not do anything about it.

    « Wedding Weekend »

Our son and new daughter in law's Wedding was held in the Hotel at the start of November 2015 in the Regency Suite. For the most part, the majority of the Wedding Party arrived on the Friday and left on the Sunday. What a wonderful time we all had! Check in was quick and painless; we had a large room which was fully furnished and met our needs. The Restaurant easily accommodated a large group on the Friday night. We were also pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices applied at the bar throughout the weekend. The breakfast on Saturday morning was a little hit and miss with the younger staff being issued instructions to clear tables and refresh bread, tea sachets etc. However, once Dallas the Event Coordinator arrived on Saturday everything went like clockwork! He was visible and on hand throughout the day and he made sure that the Wedding Party and guests were content. Little things like the fanfare of popping corks when the toast bottles were opened, to checking and advising as the day progressed. The Wedding was a lovely event, made even more memorable by the pleasant environment and organised approach of the team on hand - well done to all!

« OK. Clean hotel with friendly staff, did the job! »

We stayed here at the end of September 2015 as we were attending an event at the NEC. As far as distance to and from hotel to the NEC, it was great. Maybe around a 10-15 minute drive. The initial drive up to the hotel was nice, the building itself was pretty but the car park was fairly small (there is a front and back carpark). It is not actually in Birmingham but in a place called Meriden which other than than the teeny tiny village which had a fish and chip shop, a small Spar and Co-Op, had nothing to see at all. We drove for miles for a decent shop or restaurant and ended up in countryside with no signal and had to turn back. Local pubs on the way didn't have any idea where the nearest supermarket was, so I have no clue where people actually shop in this place! The hotel was OK inside, was a little dated but the bathroom was beautiful. A few minor picks, the plug in the bath didn't hold water in and two of the lights in the room didn't work. But as a place to rest and sleep, the room was fine. Breakfast on a morning was expensive. We didn't realise it would be as pricey as it was and £30 for us both, for a full English breakfast which wasn't that nice but due to lack of places to eat in the area, we were hungry so paid the bill. So I would definitely not make the same mistake and recommend enquiring first on breakfast prices! Overall, was an OK stay. It was convenient to NEC with a fairly decent price but if we were ever back in Birmingham area I think I would spend a little more and look elsewhere.

    « Excellent Throughout. »

I stayed at this hotel for five nights while on business at the NEC, and found it to be excellent. The room allocated to me was very quite, even on the Saturday night when a wedding party was at the hotel. The room was spacious and well equipped, wit a most comfortable bed. The bathroom was of good size with a bath with shower overhead. The shower had really good pressure and temperature control.... something I really appreciate. The room cleaning ladies did a magnificent job throughout my stay. The restaurant provided a wide selection of interest and well presented dishes, and service was prompt. Unlike many hotels with a buffet breakfast, there is a selection of hot items that were both hot and very fresh. No dried up food here !. For the more healthy eaters there is a a good selection of fresh fruit, muffins, and croissants etc. The bar area is pleasant, and the only thing missing is the availability of a proper "real ale" on draught. It would have been wonderful If they served this.... just an observation, not a complaint. All in all, I had a great stay in a good hotel, staffed by kind and helpful people.

« Great hotel and location »

All staff seemed young; i'm obviously getting old! That said they were all extremely competent friendly and welcoming Breakfast was varied, fresh and wonderful Rooms were clean cosy and so comfortable Well located for the NEC; about 10-15 mins drive

    « Friendly staff »

We ended up heading to Houstons restaurant which is part of the Manor Hotel after been let down by the Meriden Spice restaurant, it was getting quite late on Saturday evening and we were worried we wouldnt be able to get anything to eat, we neednt have worried, the lady behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming and showed us to a table, the menu was limited but had good choices on offer, I went for the veggie bean burger which was delicious, my husband went for rump steak. Which he said was slightly underdone for his liking (he'd asked for medium to well done) but it was still quite pink. Needless to say he said it was OK. Nice surroundings and good food and drink with friendly attentive staff.

    « Wedding to remember »

This is a week late but thanks to the staff at the Manor its something I must do. So last week we had a family wedding that I was best man for. Family & friends list was big with some flying in so it was a weekend gathering. Groom & I arrived Friday to drop things off. This was my first time at the hotel with first impression very good. We met Dallas who is one of the most helpful people you need if holding your wedding. From start to finish Dallas was there making sure the hole wedding run smoothly with out any worry to the Bride & Groom. For this I personal like to thank him. He might say it's his job but he deserves a pat on the back so I'm putting this review so if you not sure what to expect hopefully this will help you choose. We booked in the Houston bar & grill the night before. I highly recommend booking a table. The was a staff member Rachel working the day time who is extremely helpful and will look after you well, as they all do but she was one of them who stands out. 19 of us sat down that night. So we did not give Chef a heart attack we put our orders in separately also it helped splitting the bill. I found the food hot plus at a good standard considering the restaurant was full. I had starter, main, two side dishes, desert & 2 beers coming in at £35 for the quality of food, service and hotel I was shocked easily to say I'm coming back. Day of the wedding Breakfast was ok if I could find any faults with it coffee/tea pots that did not spill over the table cloths. It offered continental & cooked breakfast you just helped yourselves. Tea coffee was bought to your table on request. Nothing troubled the staff happy to help. The wedding Hopefully you take a look at pictures it went smoothly with massive work from Dallas & his team Quick turnaround for meal & speeches Again the wedding food was outstanding not small portion that's leaving you still feeling hungry. Soup, roast beef, chocolate moose. We had short gap while the room was turnaround for evening party. The waitresses who was manning the bar all day was excellence as well making sure everyone was happy. I highly recommend this place we are booking our next event here it's that good. Thanks for reading it hope it helps

« Very basic hotel adequate for one night »

Although staff were relatively attentive the hotel itself was very disappointing. Room was musty, high speed wifi was NOT. 3.07 down and 0.73 up. Breakfast dried up and ordinary and no juice. Usual dripping coffee jug. AND the music (Heart radio) could not have been louder at Breakfast.

« Very Old Building and messy Organization! »

Confirmed reservation not found on Check-in? 3 Floor Building no lift; Internet so slow cannot even open any web page... Decent room and Breakfast but room difficult to be reach even more difficult if you carry luggage..

    « close to NEC »

My daughter booked this hotel as a surprise for my birthday as we were visiting the craft show at the NEC, we were made welcome and room was a large twin with lovely comfy beds, very clean and tidy throughout the whole hotel, bathroom was large with a big bath and shower water was hot and after a long day shopping was much needed. We ate in the restaurant which was not busy food was well presented but not huge portions. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style but plenty of choice and all hot. All in all we had a pleasant stay and found staff to be very friendly

« A beautiful facade but not much behind »

No garden but a parking, no smile but busy staff, a bathroom to be repaired when not renovated a price quite high for what it is in the middle of nowhere but still not in the middle of the beautiful English Campaign and someone to kock at your door in the momrning during your shower to see if they already can make the room and don't get out in the corridor after 8am it looks like a laundery with thousands of dirty sheers all around the house....and corridors are so long that you can feel how little care is given to Customer feeling of well beiing. No really not a good place to go and at this price, breakfast was not even included.

    « What a gem. »

We love this Hotel - in such a beautiful area of England - the Midlands. Meriden is a pretty village with an obelisk representing the "middle" of England - the hotel is impressive on arrival and the interior is beautiful with soft furnishings and oozes comfort and luxury. We chose to stay here because Meriden is not far from the airport and after a long flight from Australia, we just wanted somewhere to rest up for a couple of days before heading on to visit friends. We were glad that we chose this lovely hotel - our room was comfortable and large and quiet - the hotel restaurant provided a deliciious breakfast with a wonderful choice. The staff were friendly and helpful and car parking is available. What more could we have wanted - it was just beautiful.

    « Warm, comfortable & good staff »

Came here when visiting the NEC on a business trip. (Only 10 mins walk from NEC). Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were kind and approachable, couldn't do enough. Breakfast was nice and cooked well. Buffet style cooked breakfast with the usual. Also continental options available. Would visit again!

    « Relaxing comfortable hotel »

Stayed here for an anniversary weekend with the wife, exceptional room, very comfortable and relaxing. The staff were friendly especially the guy behind the bar. Breakfast included in price and could eat as much as you wanted. Free wifi and large TV. Only thing bad was no spa or pool otherwise this would be a great 5star hotel but 4 will have to do.

    « All went wrong »

Where do I start? The personnel were just untrained and did not take any note, nor share them: I ordered a taxi to the airport a day before, but they forgot to order it, nor document it to the next shift. The next day I had 5 groups in front of me and no taxi, causing over 30 minutes of delay for tight schedule. The breakfast was poor, to say the least, with only cold goods on display that ran out all the time. Warm food was apparently made to order - but that was only told after me and several others made a complaint and had to leave for work. Our work team was not the only one, I have heard many people complain at the desk about breakfast screw ups (charging them for non-used or non-delivered breakfasts, poor quality etc) The promise to compensate for the poor breakfast was also forgotten, as the one who checked me out had no clue about it, but "promised to let the manager contact me" Again... one week ago and I am still waiting... This is a hotel that does not have it's game together at all

Just remembered to write this review. Used their park and fly service which was brilliant. They take you to the airport then collect you back again. Didn't have breakfast but we ate there the night before our flight. The food was lovely. Had a superior room that was good and was quiet. We have already booked to stay here before our next flight. It was also reasonably priced

« Staff and service are brilliant, rooms comfortable & clean »

My Dad and Partner stayed here while attending the Cat show at the NEC, one of their cats escaped whilst in the hotel. The hotel manager and staff where very accommodating and helped to look for the cat and the gentleman at reception printed off posters to put up in the local area. We really appreciated the help and assistance during the 6 stressful hours the cat was missing. Room was very clean and comfortable

Stayed here overnight before flying from Birmingham airport .Rooms were comfortable and very clean.Staff very helpful.Didnt have breakfast, but had a meal in the evening which was quite good.We parked at the hotel while we were away ,and had a taxi transfer to the airport.I would certainly use this hotel again if flying from Birmingham.

    « No air conditioning! »

I had a ground floor room. There where French doors opening onto a central courtyard. On arrival entering my room I was surprised how hot the room was. I immediately located & switched of the heating, unfortunately there is no air conditioning, on a hotel at this grade & at this price in 2015 this is simply not acceptable. I opened the French doors but obviously this is a security issue, so whilst the room was unoccupied I had to close the doors again. During the time I was in the room I had to wedge the doors open with the coffee table as they closed by themselves if not. This was not the only reason that I hardly slept for four nights. My room had an adjoining room I guess for families. I did not book this type of room. The adjoining door between the bedrooms are right next to the bed, I had to endure my neighbours activities all night long. Every morning I was woken by his alarm. The bedroom decor is very old fashioned & tired. The room card keys have to be recoded every evening if you visit the NEC, this is annoying. The hotel advertises that it's a 'NEC hotel', this is incorrect as it's not near the NEC & there's a fair drive every morning & evening. The car park becomes quite full early in the evening. On the plus side the resturant was quite nice, good service with friendly staff. The food itself is of good quality & reasonably priced. The menu choice is very limited though & the food was quite bland. I will not book this hotel again.

    « Poor service for 4 star »

Rooms were clean and comfortable, Staff miserable and itcseemed an effort to help you. FOOD awful, cooked breakfast sitting in fat, room service atrocious asked for selection of ice cream and was told we don't do that it's not on menu.... Room service menu designed to detract people from ordering, next night lasagne came in a presentation dish but no plate!!! VERY expensive for service received. Will not be back.

    « NEC stopover »

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and always found it helpful, friendly and comfortable, and not forgetting the excellent restaurant and service. One night we did go to the bar restaurant for our evening meal, it was not for us, crowded, slower service and a little bit noisey.

« Cracking breakfast, let down by reception. »

Booked for one night as was attending an event at the NEC at short notice. Looked OK as we walked in. Reception staff were a bit indifferent when booking in but polite enough. Had room 214 which was very well presented and very comfortable. Breakfast was the usual self service but I thought it was of excellent quality compared to most of the other hotels of this standard iv used in the past. I told the restaurant supervisor to pass my comments onto the chef. When checking out, I was settling the bill at the desk when someone came up at the side of me and started talking to the receptionist. They proceeded to have a conversation around me and I found this incredibly rude. Perhaps point this out to your reception staff. Overall an excellent stay and a nice place. Reception could do with a bit more training/supervising.

« Reasoneable accomodation, attentive Staff, Poor Grub »

We stayed here as we were visiting the NEC the following day. Its well placed for the NEC. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There are two restaurants, and we chose Houstons, for our evening meal, which is a restaurant within a bar. Service was good, and Staff attentive and polite, but the food was bland, and the wine list was poor, and all in all at £60.00 represented poor value. Breakfast is served in the Regency restaurant, is a buffet style and of poor quality. I got the impression that the food had been in the serving trays far to long without being refreshed. Considering the quality of this hotel the cost is far to high, but like many of the hotels in this area capitalise on there location to the National Exhibition Centre and charge higher than acceptable rates for poor standards. Parking is on site. I doubt we would ever return to this hotel.

« Mixed feeling but would go back »

There are things that where done very well and things done very badly. The positives were the friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, The rooms where clean and very comfortable and the food was good. The negatives were that even though rooms had been booked well in advance the hotel decided to re book some of the rooms in our party to other guests. This was very disappointing especially as an organisation we had spent a great deal of money on the venue. Both pints of bear where off. I asked for a tonic and received sparkling water. And the breakfast table cloth hadn't been changed from the previous nights dinning.

« Base camp before take off »

A very good price indeed for overall an acceptable experience. Although there was a mix up over our booking it was suitably sorted out. We did not try the restaurant as it did not really appeal we walked down to the Bull's Head. Very clean rooms but wifi was a bit hit and miss depending on where your room was situate.

    « Pleasant business stay »

I wasn't expecting too much from this place but it turned out to be very good. Room was comfortable and adequately sized, everything worked properly and was in good order and condition. Quiet and well positioned for local activities. All in all a decent alternative to the Hol Inns etc locally. In room aircon was noisy but I sorted that by opening the window ... I didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked somewhat soulless, there are a few places within a short stroll that are pretty good. Probably the best hotel WiFi I have come across in some time - fast and reliable.

« Comfortable but no wow factor »

Stayed here for one night to attend event at NEC which is very easily accessible in about 10 minutes by car. Public areas all very nice. Comfortable room which was beginning to show some signs of needing updating (marks on lampshade/slightly old fashioned feel to room but I guess some might call it classic). Ate at the diner which was good - good service/nice food. All staff at the hotel were pleasant and helpful. Overall for an overnight stay it was OK but for the amount we paid it was nothing special.

    5
    « Overnight for dinner »

We stayed at this hotel as we were attending a dinner function at the venue. We really weren't sure what to expect & were pleasantly surprised - our room as a good size, super bathroom & with everything you could need. The dinner was great - good choice of menu & couldn't fault a thing. Breakfast the next morning was also good - help yourself buffet worked well for us.

« No Room at the inn »

I booked the hotel room some 5 or 6 months in advance. I phoned on the Saturday around 1 pm to say I would be arriving late. this was confirmed that it would be no problem. I did arrive at 930pm to be told that they had no room for me. The reason given was that the system had crashed that afternoon while a wedding party was going on and that 2 extra wedding party guest had be allocated my room by mistake! I was given free return taxi to a sister hotel some 3 miles away, given a drink at the bar, given full breakfast and given a full refund of my room cost. The hotel really could not have done any more.......EXCEPT KEPT MY ROOM FOR MY LATE ARRIVAL!!! in spite of all the apologising it was not what I wanted since my group was having a meeting there the next day. Out of al the people only the night manager on the Saturday night was helpful . NOt a hotel I would stay in again.

    « Our Sons Wedding 10/10/15 »

We arrived Friday afternoon around 4pm. This was to give us time to get ready as I am in a Wheelchair. The room we had was adapted for a Wheelchair user like me and was very good. The room itself was very good. A full English Breakfast which was included in the price which was very good and at 55.00p a night good Value! The Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast were very good. Service excellent. The whole of Saturday and the evening were great. Finally left tired but happy around 12.30am on Sunday Morning. Every one concluded it was a great time.

« Good overnight stay but nothing special »

Building looks impressive and grounds are pretty. Car park is free however badly designed and awkward! We arrived at 1.50pm and rooms weren't ready, and when we returned back later they asked why we had booked a family room which we hadn't at all, so had to switch the rooms. My grandma's room was clearly rushed and wasn't clean! However our room was clean and very spacious and lovely bathroom. My only quibble was no bottled water in the room however there were 2 glasses as if there should have been. We asked for a bottle at reception and just got a pint of tap water...The bar lacked a bit of atmosphere and was in a rather bland modern looking room which is SUCH a shame considering the hotel had a lovely rustic feel in the lounge and would be so much better if they served drinks there. This brings me on to my next point that the hotel inside is actually rather small & cramped as most is used for events & meeting rooms. We did also have to walk what seemed like miles to get to our room. That said, if you're looking for a hotel near the NEC & city centre and don't want to spend £300+ like other hotels are, then I would recommend this hotel for an overnight stop.

« Overnight stay and holiday parking »

Stayed night before holiday. Great deal on overnight stay, including breakfast, parking and taxi to and from airport. Very efficient and friendly staff. Nice restaurant with reasonable prices. Upon our return at 2.30 am, we could not find the car keys and were invited in by the night porter who provided tea and coffee at no charge while we searched. Will definitely consider doing it again.

« Avoid and go somewhere where your room isn't resold »

Booked an overnight here to attend a conference. My partner booked and paid for the room, had confirmation etc. Endured a 3 hour drive to get here, to find the car park full with idiots even parking and blocking the throughfare. Walked to reception, side stepped the drunk who was throwing up into the bushes near the main door ( classy NOT ). Checking in to then be casually told there was no room for us, but instead we could stay at the sister hotel just down the road, and the hotel would provide a free taxi there and back Asked to speak to the duty manager, advised none on duty. Asked to speak to any manager, again none on the premises. So despite booking, having both verbal and also email confirmation, the hotel had given our room to someone else. I advised the receptionist that we will take the overnight at the sister hotel complimentary and also we would have a full refund. I can't comment on the bedroom as ors was being used by someone else ! I organise conferences and seminars and stay in hotels all around the world, I would not wish Best Western on my worse enemies; I would hate to think I had booked the park and fly offer here prior to going on my holiday somewhere.

Stayed here the night before our holiday. Its close to Birmingham airport . They do a great deal . Stay over and taxi too and from the airport for £120 ... Saves all the hassle ! Lovely stay and food was good . Very clean and comfortable Really helpful staff . We would like to thank and say how wonderful the young girl behind reception was ... Precious is her name and she went out of her way to help us recharge my cars flat battery.... Hahah that's one draw back, leaving a VW Beattle in the car park for 18 days un used . Precious you're a super star thank you x

« Great for NEC Stay »

The second time I've stayed at this hotel now when on business at the NEC. It's a few miles out from the NEC but if you're driving then it's not an issue and gets you away from the NEC site prices. The hotel looks really impressive when you arrive and is in generally great condition inside. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The majority of the staff were extremely friendly, particularly those in Houstons Bar, the only exception was one or two of the breakfast team were a little abrupt at times and missed basics like serving tea and coffee. Breakfast is a little pricey at £10 per person per day and it seems a lot of the room rates do not have it included. Go early for breakfast if you want a decent selection. In the evenings we only ate in Houstons which was good quality but with a fairly limited menu if you're there for a long stay. As the hotel is popular for functions, the car parking can get quite tight both at the front and back of the hotel. Wifi was a bit patchy, sometimes it worked really well but other times could barely load a page, particularly at peak times. Don't stay here if you're planning to go into Birmingham City Centre though, you'll get a shock at the taxi prices!

« Leisure Break - Beware of Weddings »

Stayed here one night as was off to see Warwick Castle the next day. We had booked a travel cot through our booking agent but this hadn't filtered to the hotel - not a problem though, the hotel sorted us out with a travel cot with no fuss. Staff were friendly and courteous, however, as other reviews have mentioned, there is often weddings on and as such there was very loud music playing until 11pm, which travels through the hotel. The staff were aware we had a 1 year old and put us in a room as far away as possible from the noise, which was good, but we could still head the dull thud of the latest Rihanna song. Breakfast was good and no issues with cold tea or waiting. Staff again good in restaurant Other reviews state there are no lifts, but I found one! Free Wi-Fi is a bit hit and miss, but you'll need to rely on it as my mobile network reception was very poor (not the hotel's fault though!)
