"Would stay here again when next in the Region"
RoyalWarwickshire, 03 Octobre 2023

Stayed with a group of 31 people. Location is perfect lovely surroundings and ideal for walking into the centre. The Double room was clean and well maintained. Stayed for dinner on one night only. We should have stayed for more. Bar service on the patio and in the bar. lowest 5.5 ABV. Cava sold with ice buckets. Breakfast was very enjoyable. Weather was beautiful. Coach parking was close as there is one bay near to the front of hotel. A lot of staff spoke English and were friendly and helpful which made our stay special. Visited the Memorial to the Missing in the town ( get the gate code to be able to gain full access). We also visited the Chemin des Dames, Caverne du Dragon, Le Musee Memorial de L'Armistice at Compeigne. Would stay here again

"Too expensive for the service."
Andreas G, 20 Mai 2023

Place is not worth four stars: Breakfast was not very good, artificial scrambled eggs with not taste at all. Cheese was also rather simple. When you come a bit later like 9 o'clock there are no tables. Room is large and clean,

"TVR Tour of Soisson"
ericappleby, 02 Mai 2023

Our group of 20 TVRs and 40 guests were looked after brilliantly by all staff, including Aubin and Jose. Coped so well at all times. Made our stay very enjoyable. Secure carpark underneath had the TVRs covered. Soisson was a short walk to the centre, and Laon a short drive away. Well done all, looking forward to our return.

"Lovely room"
t_parker400, 22 Novembre 2022

Had room with terrace over looking church under ground secure parking . Breakfast was extra but didn't enjoy everything help yourself or make your own pancakes all machines . Evening meal was good although staff were mucking around in kitchen and not very professional . Good for stop over . But wouldn't want to stay longer

"Excelent hotel with friendly staff."
jamessR347EY, 08 Octobre 2022

Had a room with balcony which was a good choice after a long day on my motorbike. I could relax with a drink. Rooms were very plush, comfortable, clean and tidy. Safe and coffee making facilities included as well as A/C. Restaurant served excellent food and the breakfast was similar quality. Safe and secure parking in the underground garage for my motorbike. A walk to the abbey opposite is a must to explore.

"Great Stay"
hbrWoking, 30 Septembre 2022

Booked room only so can't comment on other facilities Room was excellent- on second floor with a terrace which had a wonderful view of the Abbey. Staff were excellent & room a good size with very comfortable bed and pillows. Very convenient to walk the city.

"Great hotel but horrible restaurant!"
johnrherzog, 08 Juin 2022

The hotel is comfortable and very well run. The huge black mark is the restaurant. We anticipated a fairly comfortable, mildly expensive restaurant offering contemporary cuisine. Frankly the service was remarkably bad -- certainly the service in the average pizzeria would be far more attentive, friendly and refined. For instance, when we finished one course, each of us left the cutlery on the plate. The waiter then dumped the cutlery on the table so that he wouldn't need to replace it. The cuisine was not much better. Our fish was drowned in at least 250 ml (one full glass) of an extremely sweet sauce. Fortunately we could rescue some of the asparagus risotto as it had been shielded by the fish. For dessert I opted for fresh fruit, and that was actually very good. The price would have been justified if the service and the cuisine were much much much better. We may stay at this BW hotel in the future but we will certainly be very very cautious with respect to the restaurants of BW hotels.

"Highly recommend this place to stay, friendly, some staff can speak English. Rooms clean"
Krisy64, 28 Mai 2022

Decided to stay outside of Paris as we were heading to England the next day . Found this place Very friendly greeting, we don't speak French so that was a relief as some of the staff do! Room was small but clean. We could lay our suitcases on the floor easily Restaurant was lovely, excellent service , but they don't know how to cook a steak lol I had a hard time chewing it! Nothing like our scotch fillets we get back home ! Also check out the Abby across the road it's amazing I recommend staying here

"just enjoy your time"
luksmels, 08 Novembre 2020

If you want do your job, let BW Plus do their job. I really enjoy my stay because there is everything you need, even on lockout in country. Restaurant is Michelin Stars quality, staff is helpfull and friendly, room is perfect, but don't forget to book it with a view, on first night it is hard to fell asleap.

"Great place"
JulianCa, 05 Mars 2020

A lovely hotel based in centre of Ploisy. Good accommodation and food. Rooms are clean and of good size with separate toilet/bathroom. Free Car park located under the hotel. 3rd time staying at this hotel and staff do a brilliant job.

"Comfortable hotel in great location"
gwenkay, 20 Février 2020

Good location with free parking. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. It was nice that they had muesli and granola. Quiet view of a grassy field from our window. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Disliked · The bathroom and room setup was a little strange. I really don't like frosted glass doors on bathrooms because if your partner is up before or after you it wakes the other person up too with the light. This room also had an extra 'mini window' between room and bathroom. It should have had the shower on that side as it had no light of its own.

"Fantastic Base, Well looked after"
Buttonbear, 30 Janvier 2020

I recently stayed at the Hotel des Francs whilst in Soissons on business. From start to finish the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I was initially a bit worried about being on the ground floor (room 001) but even though I had the front car park outside of my window, and the door to the pool and spa outside the door, I wasn't disturbed by noise once during my whole stay. The temperature of the room was just right despite it being a laminate and tile floor, and there was ample storage for my clothes etc. The bathroom was huge and very clean, although the toilet was located in a small cupboard outside the bathroom door. I ate dinner in the hotel restaurant 'Le Relais des Vignes' on each night of my 3 night stay and never once felt let down by the menu choices, quality of the food or the service, which is important when travelling alone. I ate from the Menu de Marche each evening, which at 19E for 2 courses of 25E (including an amuse bouche) for 3 was great value (and I would have eaten from this menu if I had been on a personal trip and paying my own money). I can't speak for the wine choices but from the reaction of the other diners (both residents and non-residents) there was a pleasing selection available. On 2 nights I ventured out in the evening for a walk before dinner. The hotel is in a perfect position to walk down a brightly lit, wide boulevard with ample pedestrian crossings (the whole town appeared very pedestrian friendly) past the ruins of the Abbey of St. Jean des Vignes (visible from the front of the hotel), and then a short 10 minute walk to the Cathédrale Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais de Soissons. Walking past the Cathedral takes you into the heart of Soissons, with a selection of shops and services available including a Carrefour City (a French Tesco Direct/Sainsburys Local) with toiletries, drinks and snacks available, several pharmacies (you can't buy paracetamol in supermarkets in France, only pharmacies) quite a few shoe shops, bookshops and a Sephora (which unfortunately closed too early for me to browse). On the morning of my departure I was able to walk around the Abbey ruins just as the sun came up. Although L'Arsenal (the museum) wasn't open due to the season, there were informative plaques around the site and I was able to wander at my own pace. Behind the hotel is a newer area, where the Music & Dance Centre (architect Henri Gaudin) is situated - also the location of La Mie Caline bakery (I was very lucky to experience their Galettes des Rois and lunch menus whilst visiting my client) All in all, for a town I had never heard of before, I would be more than happy to return to Soissons to visit more places, and would happily choose Hotel des Francs as my base for this.

"A welcome find in a most attractive town"
Nicola B, 02 Octobre 2019

We were delighted to spot this modern attractive hotel just after we drove into Soissons and even happier to find they had a room - at an exceptionally reasonable rate of €90. The staff were welcoming, and the hotel was clean, modern, with a large comfortable bed and everything you could wish for. We had a drink in the bar and then room service - fast and nicely presented and exactly whAt we felt like. Breakfast the following morning gave us a good start to the next leg of our journey, and we will definitely return and recommend to any friends going that way.

"Best Western, Worst Customer Service"
Julie L, 07 Juillet 2019

I was part of a large group of friends and colleagues who stayed here for a wedding in the area. Upon our arrival well after 3pm - a reasonable time to assume a guest would be able to occupy the room they have reserved and paid for in advance - a group of 15 of us were told the rooms were "not ready" and that we would have to wait for an indeterminate time in order to occupy our rooms. With the wedding starting at 6pm, and a shuttle arranged by the bride's family to transport us to the venue at 4:30pm, time was running short to check in and get ready for the shuttle. As it was a Saturday in a small town, cabs were also hard to come by. We finally were given the key to our room at 4pm, making it virtually impossible to be ready for the shuttle. After asking the frazzled woman at the reception desk if she would consider paying for our cab because we would now have to order one to get to our destination, she huffed and replied that "I can not, it is not our responsibility, I have three weddings this weekend, and I am doing the best I can. My cleaning crew has been cleaning the rooms since 8am. I am sorry but I can't do that." So clearly the hotel's good fortune in being fully (over?) booked was the guests' misfortune. Have never experienced such a customer unfriendly attitude and with so little empathy for the situation that the hotel created for a large group of customers. The rooms were fine, if you prefer no air conditioning at the height of summer.

"Clean comfortable rooms in Soissons "
sbpilot12, 02 Juin 2019

This was our 3rd time to stay at this best western hotel in Soissons. Rooms are clean, air conditioned, and have a nice view of the Cathedral a few blocks away. Covered parking is available if you have a car. Checking in at the front desk was quick, easy and friendly. Morning breakfast is best if you're there at 7am when they open up. Reasonable choices available for breakfast but scrambled eggs were runny one morning and not available the 2nd day. Bacon was limp and undercooked the first day, and crispy and perfect the 2nd day.

"Decent Lodgings at Soissons"
Philip R, 18 Mai 2019

A fairly new hotel, the Hotel des Francs is conveniently situated on a quiet but broad avenue a short walk from the main street. The rooms are smallish, but well-equipped with what travellers need, including a work-table, safe, and good complementary wi-fi. The bed was comfortable. The shower had a good water pressure, but was lacking in good lighting. Breakfast was satisfactory, with a limited but quality range of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, yoghurt etc. Adequate free parking below the hotel. Perfect for a short stay.

"ONE NIGHT STOPOVER"
dimartaldridge, 13 Septembre 2018

The hotel did everything well but the restaurant service was a bit slow which might have been because we were a group of eight. Also I could not get the air conditioning to work and did not see any instructions. There was some noise from other guests above us which disturbed our sleep.

"Lovely new hotel in Soissons"
Jane L, 11 Septembre 2018

This hotel was built under carbon neutral requirements. The rooms are not carpeted so they feel cleaner. The hotel felt very clean overall. We walked to everything we needed in the City. We originally booked for 2 nights but extended to 4. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the Eglise Saint-Jean-des-Vignes. We would definitely return.

"Modern Hotel well located"
BillDewberry, 06 Septembre 2018

Location is in a quiet part of town the Des Francs is a well appointed and comfortable hotel. Rooms are good but AC should be standard these days in such a new hotel. The hotel charges for breakfast which is excellent but leans towards expensive for France. Didn't use the pool or facilities as only one night. You need two nights because you might just get a dinner. What ? Well this hotel has a restaurant with a nice menu and a good but I think pricey wine list. That's if you wait and wait and wait for you need an hour for each course. Makes sure you order dessert with your other courses. It is dire! People left mid course others complained. It tasted good and so did the wine but hopefully you can keep a conversation with your table partners. Breakfast is a buffet!

"Property let down by no A/C and grumpy bar staff"
S6blr, 22 Août 2018

This will be a short review as I really want to spew venom at the owners. How in God's name do you expect rooms with a 6” wide X 46” High window to allow ANY COOL AIR into a room genius's? We sat/layed sweating all evening for what appears to be a quite new facility that desperately needs A/C! We sat outside on the veranda trying to cool off with bar beverages and ordered dinner fully clear we wanted to sit outside to eat. A rude young man told us it was about to rain and we had to move inside. Where, you guessed it — no A/C greeted us in the restaurant. Never ever going back here - staff on front desk don't answer the phone so when I went to ask for another room I was told to be glad we had a fan. Huzzah!

"Nice hotel but....."
Clare R, 04 Août 2018

On the hottest summer ever, the air con was broken. The staff informed us that it had been broken a while ??? We only chose hotels that had air con and would have cancelled if we had been informed. There were fans in the rooms but out of the 4 rooms we booked 2 werent working. No manager to speak to?? Also a barely big enough bath towel and a towel that was too small to wrap around your hair?? Do they think of this ? Overall disappointed.

"No aircon "
ReetJL, 14 Juillet 2018

When we booked the hotel we were of the understanding that the hotel had aircon. The room has the thermostat and vent like you have with aircon. I asked reception and was advised there is no aircon in the hotel. However, we since learnt that there is but only in very few rooms. This is supposed to be 4 star, so I think it should have it with that type of rating. If we knew we would not have booked it. Lesson learnt me thinks and it's not cheap!!! On a plus side the rooms are clean and the staff are nice.

"Very good"
Emixamnotsag, 18 Juin 2018

The room was nice and clean with comfy bed and nice bathroom. The hôtel was really modern, clean and the staff was really nice and caring. The spa was a plus : pool with a hot tub and a a hammam, but unfortunately the hot tub didn't work. The restaurant o the hôtel was delicious and the view when eating outside was really nice.

"Decent hotel in Soissons"
Timothy M, 17 Juin 2018

Stayed here for one night. Check in was friendly and easy, and plenty of parking available. Situated in a quiet part of town. Room was clean and spacious with a nice bathroom. Dinner was good and service attentive. Decent value for money. Recommended

"Most rooms have no air-conditioning !!"
Dennis C, 14 Juin 2018

We were in room without air-conditioning which was intolerably warm. We offered to pay for a "comfort" room with air-conditioning to which we were moved, but then water stared pouring from the ceiling unit and we moved back to a room without A/C. Otherwise, hotel is OK; suitable for the winter, but not 4 star.

"Only One Thing Wrong"
EuroWhenever, 13 Juin 2018

This is a very nice hotel. It's modern, attractive, and located in a very nice part of Soissons, with views of impressive abbey ruins across the street. It has a fine restaurant. Breakfasts are typical and certainly adequate. The rooms are comfortable and have beautiful bathrooms. Free, underground parking is a plus. My wife and I would happily return here, except . . . No air-conditioning. As other reviewers have said, it's really shocking that such a modern hotel wouldn't have it in all their guest rooms. We were here at the very beginning of June and the weather was really nice, with temperate conditions. Our room, however, was a hotbox (It faced south, so the sun was on it much of the day, until sunset). The lovely fresh air outside the window just couldn't penetrate. I cannot imagine what said room would've been like in July or August. I guess the sight of a good-sized electric fan on a counter in the room should've been a hint that help was required. It wasn't enough. So, in summary, I'd highly recommend Plus Hotel des Francs, if you're visiting between, say, October and May. Beyond that, I'd have to reserve my endorsement.

"Most rooms are NOT AIR CONDITIONED."
shcarlyle, 10 Juin 2018

This hotel is just fine except for the extremely puzzling feature: built in 2010, its builders apparently decided NOT to join the 21st century. Only eight of its rooms are air-conditioned. We were lucky to get one of those rooms. However, on our second night, just as we were getting ready for bed, water began dripping from the ceiling. We had to change rooms -- this time to standard room with no AC. We were lucky in that the evening was not hot. Still there was poor ventilation, even with a fan. Here is a modern hotel in France where, in the summer months, it certainly can get very hot, and yet most of its guests are condemned to discomfort. It defies reason. Do they not want to attract guests? And is not summer the busiest season? Go figure.

"Good in parts"
Snipsy47, 29 Mai 2018

Excellent location for visiting the centre of Soissons. Free car parking at hotel. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is pleasant, modern décor and very clean. BUT one receptionist can't smile and offers no information and the standard room is unbearably hot in warm weather (no air con and fan is inadequate.) Whilst we were there the beautiful new Boulevard Jeanne d'Arc was closed to traffic from mid afternoon until after 10pm. Many other roads were closed too because of a road running race. The hotel did not inform us of this problem so we spent an hour driving round the town trying to find a place to park within walking distance of the hotel. It was very frustrating! Fortunately it was our second day there so we had a vague idea of the road system. Many other guests were somewhat annoyed too.

"Excellent Service!"
twozerouk ., 26 Mai 2018

I usually avoid French hotels but stayed here for a car event. Pleasant staff and a fine room. Good restaurant and private secure parking a big plus. Within easy walking distance of the city centre and venues.

"Friendly and welcoming comfort!"
Leah W, 02 Octobre 2017

We have returned to stay at this lovely fairly new hotel a second time because we enjoyed our first stay there. I would suggest booking well ahead as the hotel is popular and fills up quickly. The rooms are modern, spacious and comfortable with everything you need to make your stay a pleasant one. Good free WiFi and on-site parking too. The on-site restaurant is great for evening meals and breakfasts are amazing with both hot and cold options. The staff are so welcoming and helpful which really helps when you are in a foreign country and far from home. The location is great too for exploring Soissons as the Abbey ruins are just over the road! It's also not far to walk into the town to see other historic sites.

"Nice hotel "
Jan-Lennert G, 06 Septembre 2017

For work I spent one night in this hotel. The room was nice and even tough my French isn't perfect they did their best. I don't like French food, but the steak was good. Great view from my room at the cathedral. There were many choices at the breakfast buffet. Would go again. I needed a lunch packet for on the road. Normally they don't do this but for me they made an exception. This has been the best lunch packet I had so far with a great sandwich, salad, desert and fruit.

"Great stop over"
Andrew H, 15 Août 2017

Stopped here one night on route to Bavaria and once found ( most of Soisson roads seemingly being dug up) it ticked all our boxes. Good safe parking, attentive staff, good rooms and excellent restaurant.

"Very nice"
Chris B, 15 Août 2017

Very nice hotel, dry clean and comfortable.Unfortunately no food available and the bar was virtually non existent. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend for an overnight stay but maybe no longer.

"Good quality hotel"
Milymollymandy, 13 Août 2017

A really lovely hotel. Very friendly staff and fantastic surroundings. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything you would expect from this level of hotel. Shower was lovely too. Would love to go back again.

"A really great example of a well run chain hotel"
sheridan s, 22 Juillet 2017

Soissons is a very attractive town and well situated for those looking for a pit-stop on their way to more far flung locations in France. The Best Western is situated on the edge of the centre of town close to the leading tourist attractions ( St Jean des Vignes). The rooms are well equipped and well-decorated. The wet room bathroom does take some getting used to, but the shower was powerful and instantly hot. Extremely comfortable bed and pillows, quiet location and free car parking ( very rare now amongst the hotels we stay in). Altogether a brilliant example of how a chain hotel can be. Yes there is a degree of impersonality involved, but the staff are friendly and the amenities ( including a really good pool and exercise room), more than make up for any shortcomings. The wifi is very good and free. A great place to stay.

"Average"
rpmeduri, 09 Juillet 2017

This is definitely more of a business type hotel than a leisure one. The staff is very kind and attentive and always try to be helpful. The rooms are OK, but there is no air conditioning and if it's warm outside the room basically turns into a sauna and there is no way to find relief - the windows are also very small and you can only open a small part of it. The gym definitely needs some refurbishment, the weights are worn out and there is not much in terms of equipment. The swimming pool is indoor only and looks fine, we actually have not tried it because the weather was great. The breakfast is below par: there is absolutely no choice for gluten free or dairy free eaters. The only warm options are scrambled eggs with bacon, and if you don't want to wat pastries you can basically only eat slices of ham and cheese

"A hot stay"
Timbers31, 01 Juin 2017

My wife and I stayed in the hotel with 2 friends last Sunday night. The staff were very helpful, the room was clean and the food was good but there was no air conditioning in our bedrooms on what was the hottest day in the year (32 C in the afternoon) so our rooms were unbearable despite the provision by the hotel of a small fan. Also there was no extractor fan in the toilet or shower area so both these rooms became very humid. When my wife mentioned the lack of air conditioning the following morning she was told that 8 rooms in the hotel did have this fitted but presumably they were the executive rooms and at a price.

"Excellant"
annofupnor, 09 Mai 2017

Great food, rooms and staff. We were a group booking visiting from the UK. Staff very helpful and the rooms were all good. The food we thought for a group booking was outstanding. Good selection for breakfast. We had a walk in shower and separate toilet, not sure if this is for all rooms.

"Nice hotel"
Jan-Lennert G, 11 Avril 2017

Nice hotel in the middle of town. Clean rooms and bathroom. Looks pretty new. Good food but to much fish for my liking. I asked for a lunch bag which they normally wouldn't do, and the made one especially for me, great sandwich, salad, drink and yogurt.

"Hotel in nice surroundings"
ChristerHagglund, 22 Novembre 2016

Nice hotel in wonderful surroundings in the old city of Soissons. The ruin of the old monastery Abbey of St Jean des Vignes. Only one in the staff speaks sufficient English. Nice restaurant with really good menu.

"Excellent hotel close to town centre"
John L, 14 Novembre 2016

Very easy to get to as it's not in the centre of town, this hotel is smart and modern with well appointed rooms (including tea/coffee making). The spacious parking is undercover and free of charge - very unusual and appreciated. The staff at reception were all very friendly and dealt with check-in and out very efficiently. A short walk will take you to the pretty town with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Warning - Sundays are very quiet with limited open bars and restaurants. We didn't use the restaurant or had breakfast, the latter too expensive for what we eat first thing in the morning. We would certainly return to Soissons and stay at the Best Western.

"Too hot"
vbow, 31 Juillet 2016

We had a pleasant stay in this hotel but the room was far too hot. It seems that most rooms don't have air conditioning. We were provided a fan (upon request as opposed to room standard) but this is hardly a solution as they are extremely noisy and not designed to replace air conditioning. It also didn't make sense that the bed duvet was a winter one and that every time the maid had been the only window in the room was closed so you always returned to a poorly ventilated, hot room. The staff also seemed to vary in ability. Some staff members were very helpful, happy and polite whilst others didn't really want to offer any help or even just a friendly morning 'hello'. Apart from heat the room was very pleasant, a good size and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed time spent on the terrace for a drink.

"Huge disappointment"
LawrenceKK, 25 Juillet 2016

Our usual stopping over en route to the UK and I thought we would enjoy a pleasant final night at the hotel in which we'd previously stayed more than two years ago. Quite what has happened in that period, I don't know. The hotel is now a triumph of style over substance. Everything looks lovely, including the beautiful planting outside! But where to begin... The welcome was perfunctory and the staff maintained this disinterest throughout. The room was hardly a good-sized double and there was far too much furniture taking up unnecessary place. Just how many, uncomfortable, seats can one have in a small room? But for lack of comfort let's talk about the absence of air-conditioning and - even with the one small window fully open - the stuffiest room I've stayed in in many years. And just why was a winter duvet on the bed, which made sleep virtually impossible, as well as the internal and external noise. The power points seems to have a life of their own and required wall switches to be turned on before some of them worked; none of this was explained and little was simple. The wifi took a number of attempts, not helped by an unhelpful member of staff and speeds were mediocre. Given the hotel's proximity to Calais would it really be problematic to have one UK channel on the TV; Sky News, for example, which we'd had elsewhere in France and Italy? The TV is wall-mounted and huge with three bright and irritating lights which could only be extinguished by unplugging the set and its receiver box. The shower room is also far too hot and no matter how hard one tries in the, unlit, walk-in shower, the water is going to encroach into the basin area and make the whole floor wet. Thankfully a short stay but one which will remain in the memory as a real dampener at the end of a lovely holiday. Not somewhere to which we will return!

"Comfortable overnight stop"
david244730, 08 Juin 2016

Easy to find, this modern hotel presents well on first sight, although the lounge/bar/dining area being all co-located can be quite noisy. We were made welcome at reception, had a very good dinner and breakfast and the bed was extremely comfortable. The one downside was the lack of enthusiasm of the receptionist on check-out - she appeared to have better things to do than deal with clients.

"Very good value in Soissons"
VanDerMeid, 08 Mai 2016

We stayed here one night en route back to Calais & the UK. Best Western Plus are reliably comfortable and up-to-date business hotels, and Hotel des Francs is no exception. It was excellent value, perhaps because Soissons is not a main tourist destination. Our dinner was very good, but be careful or you could spend a fortune on the wine.

"Good hotel"
Matthew P, 04 Avril 2016

Stayed at this hotel last night. It is a clean and very well presented hotel, the beds are comfortable and quiet. The evening meal was okay but the burgers were too red/raw within for our liking. The omelettes and desserts very good. Breakfast is a limited offering but good. Yes we would use this hotel again.

"Beautiful View of the Abbey from the Hotel!!"
yupoarist, 30 Décembre 2015

This area of Picardie is void of any top notch hotels. The Best Western Hotel Des Francs was the best we could find. It was a modern hotel, large rooms, free underground parking, and nice breakfast. We opted for a room with a terrace overlooking the abbey. The view was fantastic, especially at night when the abbey was lit. The rooms are modern, clean, and well appointed all at a reasonable price. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

"Nice clean hotel, weird wifi"
Baunataler, 14 Décembre 2015

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights while on a business trip in the region. The breakfast was OK, the room was nice and clean, the personnel helpful. They also have an underground garage free of charge. The wifi connection was weird though. Every five minutes I got disconnected and when I tried to load another page my browser went first to the hotel website where I had to click "Connect". The speed was alos sloooow. It was really annoying. Other than that I could say it was OK.

"Overnight Stop"
Christine E, 21 Octobre 2015

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel which we found very comfortable and convenient it is modern and has secure parking. We ate in the restaurant and both enjoyed our meals. The room was very clean and a good size. We found the staff friendly and helpful. We would definately stay again.

"Super Hotel"
David W, 12 Octobre 2015

This is a very good modern hotel - lots of space in the public areas and the bedrooms - bed very comfortable - Selection for breakfast one of the best we have found in France - food and service in the restaurant for dinner also of a very high standard. A very enjoyable stay. Only issue shower tended to flood the bathroom.

"Second visit - still lovely"
roamingroto, 22 Septembre 2015

This is the second time we have stayed here in 18 months - last time was with a group for the Circuit de Laon - and it is still a really lovely hotel. Quiet, clean, nicely presented rooms with air conditioning (think we were upgraded as we only booked a standard room!) with a beautiful view towards the old cathedral. They serve a very good breakfast and dinner in their dining room on a Sunday night was good too, although a greatly reduced menu from the norm which was a bit of a shame. Although a slight detour from the Motorway north of Reims, it is well worth bearing this hotel in mind for a very comfortable stopover on the way to/from Calais. Would totally recommend it

"Best - Best Western!"

Beautiful hotel. Really modern, so quiet and rooms so comfortable. Beds were great, only downside was the shower wasn't the greatest (shower head in room 121 may need replacing) We arrived quite late and the kitchen was just closing but they were still so accommodating and made us some sandwiches and salads, which were plentiful and delicious. Breakfast was fantastic!! I would 100% stay here again!!

"One night stay on route home from a holiday"
Martin L, 13 Septembre 2015

An extremely good hotel with safe secure parking if you need to stay in Soissons for an overnight stop. The staff are extremely helpful and the rooms very comfortable. The hotel restaurant is also pretty reasonable and although not particularly cheap is good value for money. The one draw back is Soissons is not a very inspiring place to stay.

"Very welcome place to stay"

After a 500 mile trip and 2 weeks in a tent, this hotel was a lovely was a lovely place to stay on our way home. Lovely room, balcony with a view of the abbey, and a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant

"Great Overnight Stop"
parisamsterdam2007, 27 Août 2015

We stopped in Soissons overnight after driving from Paris. We'd stopped in Compiegne for the Armistice Clearing, Pierrefonds for its magical castle and the Château de Coucy. So we arrived at the Hotel des Francs tired and hungry after a long day. Reception was quick and efficient and we were in our modern room overlooking a ruined abbey in minutes with the car parked free in the underground lot. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom had a walk in shower. A couple of drinks from the bar and the restaurant was opened at 7. The service was friendly and quick and we had the most interesting club sandwiches ever. I can't comment on breakfast as we eschew hotel breakfasts. All in all a comfortable and pleasant place to stay for one night or several.

"Perfect in every way!"
CarolineMidlands, 26 Août 2015

We stayed here for one night and were really impressed with this hotel. Situated in a very quiet part of Soissons overlooking the Abbey, everything was perfect from check-in to check-out. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful, the room was small but very comfortable (with the softest pillows!). Restaurant was good even on a Sunday night when there were very few guests and the food was excellent. Likewise breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We were trying to change our Eurotunnel booking which we were unable to do on the internet and the receptionist very kindly allowed us to use the phone without charge. There was nothing negative we could say about this hotel and I am surprised at some of the reviews. We would most definitely return and can't praise the hotel enough for comfort and great service!

"Surprising charm"
Cheryl T, 19 Août 2015

I stayed here with my husband for one night and we were pleasantly surprised by how modern it was and by the fantastic view we had. We were impressed with the room, which was spacious, clean, modern and functional, with a sliding door separating the bedroom from the rest of the room, providing privacy and darkness. A walk in shower and separate toilet area was very well decorated and spacious. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was very good value and delicious. We had a walk in the morning around the area, which was stunning. Some lovely shops to visit and a beautiful church. Worth staying if you are in the area.

"Avoid"
Scrollop, 15 Août 2015

We arrived for a one night stay. The hotel appeared very quiet, with, perhaps, 4 other rooms taken. Whether this is because it is the August holidays or this hotel has a reputation, who knows. Positive aspects: 1) Modern, clean enough. 2) 150 metres walk to the picturesque abbey; some rooms have views on the abbey. 3) Our room shared a small balcony. Neutralaspects: 1) 600 metre walk to the centre of this very quiet town, with, it appears, not many attractions or things to do. Negative aspects: 1) Rooms are small. We had a "deluxe" room where they added a fold-out single bed for our 5 year old daughter. Very pokey room. 2) Air conditioning is not used. It is installed (there is a dial in the room and vents), though, on this humid, hot day, we asked the concierge if it was broken, he said they don't have any (oh, really?). Eventually, he offered a fan. Thus, we had a poor nights sleep in a small, suffocating, humid room, and had to leave the door to the balcony open during the night. EDIT: apparently there is a "comfort room" with air conditioning. The more expensive "deluxe" room does not. 3) Maintenance is poor: toilet did not function well, air conditioning as above (though they have probably turned it off to save money). Sauna was not functioning with a wire hanging down from the ceiling. 4) Breakfast is poor (though there aren't other options within a short walk away). Some watery scrambled eggs, a few cereals and croissants. Small variety of foods. When we arrived for breakfast there were no scrambled eggs, no water, no bacon, no milk, no croissants. 5) There is nothing really to do immediately surrounding the hotel. It appears to be in a new development. No local vibe or character. 6) No refrigerator. 7) Underground carpark is not secured: anyone can walk in. The restaurant is overpriced for slightly above average food. There aren't many hotels in Soissons (for reasons that become apparent when you arrive). This hotel is ranked no 1 on tripadvisor. Is this as they have paid to be ranked the first or are the others genuinely poorer (let's hope not)?

"Nice room"
Heggvin, 29 Juillet 2015

Stayed here for one night on a very hot night in July. We had not booked and had looked for a hotel for a while, and was happy that BW had rooms available. The room was great - very comfortable bed, nice bathroom. No ac was a big minus, it got really hot. ( I think superior rooms have ac) We had dinner outside in the cool breeze, and my scampi-risotto was excellent. Breakfast the following day was ok, not possible to sit outside - another small minus. Free parking in the basement, and free wifi was a plus.

Hotel is located well opposite the Abbey with underground free parking, but having to carry your luggage up a spiral staircase to the reception is not easy. The reception area looks very modern and...

"Excellent new hotel"
LUCDEBELLEFEUILLE, 29 Avril 2015

Easy to park for free. Newly constructed hotel. Excellent rooms. Fantastic restaurant. Close to downtown. Probably the best hotel in town. If you are looking for a hotel in Soissons, book a room at the Best Western PLUS Hotel des Francs.

"Great location in great town"
Tamas E, 17 Février 2015

Great location in great town, close to town center with lots of restaurants, shops and a great beer cellar producing local beer and selling a large variety. Hotel is nice, rooms are grear. Coffee maker is hidden behind the mirror and swimming pool is quite small.

"Good night sleep"

We had not been to Soissons for many years, but decided to try out the new Beat Western. We were not disappointed. The hotel is a joy to be in. The rooms are excellent, the décor imaginative, the parking facilities excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. We shall certainly return and will recommend this hotel as one that MUST be visited.

"No value for money."

On arriving there wasn't a receptionist present. The receptionist give us a key, but we can't open the roomdoor with this key We booked a LUXE-room at 188,50 € (B.&B.); No fridge in the room, no LUXE. Poor breakfast. for 13,50 €/p/person. Good parking. Bathroom was dirty.
