« Convenient Hotel To Travelers »

This hotel is located at the exit 114 directly off of Delaware Route 1 in Smyrna, Delaware. Although it resides between Route 1 and 13 it is Quiet & Clean. It offers free WiFi and the rooms are quite comfortable. Cable TV Reception in the room. They offer a full breakfast (included in the room rate). Menu includes: Scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles with toppings. Danish, Muffins. Orange Juice, coffee, etc. There is also a Diner about 2 blocks away and a Pizza Shop around a block away.

    « Good stay! »

Nice room and clean facility. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice. Easy in and easy out from the front desk. We were only there for one night so that is all we have to base our opinion on. Motel was a little tricky to get into from the highway but no worries. Enjoy your stay.

« Beb Bugs and mice turds in the made bed »

Was booked for 9/29/16 and 9/30/16. Check in was fine except noisy party across the hall. Wife was in the shower, I pulled back the bed covers to find multiple mice turds. I live in the woods so I understand the little critters do get in from time to time. Then when I switched out the pillows, they had extras on a shelf above the fridge, I found bugs on the pillows. Bed bugs, as we looked them up on the net real quick. We checked more and the room was infested. We immediately packed up and went down stairs for a refund. Desk girl was ok but the owner she called to report the bugs and refund was terrible. Refused to acknowledge to incident and write a report in case we brought them back into our home. Not to mention, we had to find another hotel at 1 in the morning. Mice turds and bed bugs!! Will never go back and will take legal action if I find them in my home.

    « Clean and Quiet »

This my third time staying Smyrna Best Western. The hotel is clean, comfortable, quiet and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful. I can't comment regarding the breakfast because I'm on the road before they start serving it.

    « Great »

Stayed for 1 night, last night. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Check in was quick and easy. Staff was extremely friendly. I do agree with a previous reviewer that the entrance was a little confusing but it didn't impact my stay. Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

« Extremely clean, very pleasant stay, entrance awkward »

Room was very clean and quiet with nice linens, & thick towels. In-room microwave/frig/coffeemaker convenient. Continental breakfast selection great, but very firm about breakfast being over at 9:30 a.m. Entrance difficult to find, google maps says turn on Pharmacy Drive, but actually turn at the Rite Aid Pharmacy and then turn left on Stadium Street. 75% of staff extremely pleasant and helpful, one young lady was not.

« Not as good as it used to be »

We stayed at this BW numerous times in the past few years. We loved the location. Quiet and away from busy Dover. Probably the closest hotel to get you to Bombay Hook NWR. Also very convenient to shopping and gas. Food Lion, Dunkin Donut, Chinese takeout, etc. Plus, local gem Helen's Saguage House is nearby. The Smyrna Diner was nice. Over the years though, the service, cleaniness and quality has declined. I hope it gets better, so it doesn't lose regulars like us.

    « Nice Hotel »

This was our second time staying at this location. It is a very nice hotel and the staff is wonderful! Our only issue was that our bathroom had a sour smell upon checking in. It turned out to be the shower curtain and that was changed immediately. Breakfast is good, with eggs and sausage in addition to the waffles, etc. However, they need to get decaffeinated black tea and Splenda. The location is great for visiting Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

« Great inn. Not much to do in Smyrna »

So the best western itself was great. Very clean and updated. Pool is very nice. Service was great. We only stayed there on our way to ocean city. There really is nothing much to do in Smyrna. But the best western is awesome episode definitely stay again.

    « Old Reliable »

An annual stop on my way from VA to CT on a summer Sunday, this mid-way location that offers a clean, reliable hotel with excellent value! The management is very friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the free breakfast is tasty, and the experience very good.

« a bit hard to find, but well worth the trouble »

We were coming home from the beaches in OC, MD and had taken a detour and spent time with friends and decided we needed to stop before driving home in the dark. This hotel had the king bed we wanted, but after getting into the room, we discovered the smoke detector chirping. They did not have another king room, but gave us a queen with 2 beds just down the hall. The front desk clerk even tried to find a ladder to change the batteries! This has got to be one of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in! My only real complaint was that the AC filters were filthy! I have asthma, so I usually check them in every hotel we stay in and wash them if necessary. Breakfast was your typical waffles, eggs and sausage and the best coffee I have had in awhile. If we pass this way again, we will be sure to stay!

« No signage makes for crazy times »

Let me begin by noting that there is only one game in town in Smyrna, Delaware, The motel itself is nestled inside of a shopping mall, and the ONLY signage available is a street that is really the entrance to a highway!!! Otherwise one needs to know that the correct turn is into the shopping mall. At night, when I arrived, and called for precise directions cause my WAYZ was flummoxed, the young man at the desk had NO idea how to help me. I was on the highway that he kept telling me to find, but was unable to give me any indication as to how to find them, I came in at 10 PM pretty tired to find that: the ice machines were out of order, that the fitted sheet on the mattress did not have a large enough overage to stay put.....the place was totally mediocre but passable had I not become so grumpy in the efforts to find the place

    5
    « Staying for fun »

This Best Western has every thing, shopping center, Casino, Beashes are just down the road, the rooms are nice and clean, the pool is all in closed out side, and the employees are very nice. the price to stay is low

    « A very pleasant surprise! »

Awesome hotel with great customer service--especially the young man at the front desk. Rooms are clean (could have used a few extra towels, though) and the hallways are so wide and bright, unlike most hotels I've stayed! Very great stay and the express check out made my experience that much more convenient!

« In need of new Management »

This hotel has poor guest experience. The bathroom was dirty, urine in the toilet. The coffee maker had molded coffee in it. The room was layered with dust, even all the pillows. The front desk staff had a very bad attitude indicating asking for a new room would have meant waiting for hours. this was a bad experience, they need a manager who knows how to run a hotel.

    « will not return »

We stayed here last weekend 5/27/16 and 5/28/16 for daughter's graduation. After driving all night from Boston, we did arrive much earlier than expected. We had spoken to someone the evening before that said they would be happy to accommodate us with an early check in if possible. We called upon arriving that morning, and the day clerk told us check in was "3PM". We explained we had spoken to someone the evening before and her response was, "well they don't understand how the day shift works." We had relatives staying at the hotel so stopped by to visit them around lunch time. Besides their car, the parking lot was empty and the hotel appeared vacant. About 1:30PM we checked in with the clerk in person, who was short tempered and rude. She said our room was still not ready and we could not check in until 3PM. At 3PM the housekeeper was finishing his duties in the room we were assigned to. Again, there was not another guest in site at this place. The next day around 1:00PM we went back to our room to rest and freshen up between events that day; but were disturbed by a yelling match in the hallway outside of our room between the same day clerk and another guest. Our room was clean, and the breakfast was as described. Although our daughter will now be going to college here and we will be frequenting the area, we will not return here. Look elsewhere if you are looking for your stay to be pleasant, accommodating, and hospitable.

« "Nice room, great breakfast" »

Monday night, friendly clerk gave us choice of floors-not many guests in hotel. Didnt see any coffee service near desk-not a plus. Room was very clean & bathroom spacious, coffee pot/pods avail. Air worked GREAT! Heat lamp in bath. Continental breakfast, fresh, stocked; GREAT coffee. Clerk (Kena) kept the area spotless! Tuesday night w/no notice, repairs done to heaters=COLD SHOWERS. Desk clerk on duty seemed unaffected by our unhappiness- We were not impressed with his demeanor. There is a small plaza in back of hotel, we tried Nino's Pizza Monday & went back Tuesday. Service was decent, food was super. Dont be afraid to try it; the plaza llooks abit dingy overall but you will be surprised to see how bright and airy Nino's is. Great old time music from the 40'-50's; crooners like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin. Loved it. Would use this hotel again if in the area as long as HOT shower was available :)

    « Best Western »

Overall the experience was pleasant. The room was nice and well stocked and clean when we returned at the end of the day. However, breakfast was the same every day. Gets a little boring, but then you also know what to expect.

    3
    « Decent hotel »

This hotel is an average place to stay. The rates are reasonable. The rooms are fairly clean. The breakfast was ok, not great but gets you a quick bite to eat before you begin your day. The ice machines - one was broken, the other had dirty ice so use at your own risk! The staff was friendly for the most part. The exercise room could use a little attention. The equipment appears to be in need of some maintenance but I was able to get a decent workout in during my stay. If you stay here, request a room away from the elevator because there is a lot of noise from people coming & going.

« The best hotel to stay »

Again, it was a pleasure staying at your facility, and I would forever keep the Best Western in mind. the atmosphere was very clean and pleasant. Comfortable beds, very clean bathrooms and the Staff was out of this world.

    3
    « Average Hotel »

Hotel Service was ok for the price. It would have been nicer if they had more options on the breakfast menu and indoor pool especially during spring break because its not so hot outside for outdoor pool. Clean and good customer service.

« OK for What it Is »

I was traveling from Vermont to Hampton Roads, VA and needed a place to stop for the night. The front desk person was very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean, TV worked fine. Only problem was there was no hot water when I went to take a shower in the morning and I didn't want to spend time waiting for some as I wanted to get on the road. B'fast was what you would expect. There are some very nice areas for wildlife viewing nearby and plenty of places to eat and other amenities in the area right next door.

    4
    « Surprised »

I say surprised because at the rates they charge I expect to see a run down place. This is the third or fourth time we have stayed here. We use it as a way point on our trips north. The building and rooms have always been spotless. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. My only complaint is the towels. Well beyond their life expectancy.

    5
« what does this mean »

this hotel was very clean the beds were comfortable we enjoyed the breakfast items very much. we would stay here at this particular hotel again we travel rte.13 on our way up north ,at once a year, and we think this hotel is particularly clean and to our liking.

    4
« Good place to stay in Smyrna »

The Best Western in Smyrna is clean and reasonably priced. The beds are comfy and the staff is professional and on task. I do find getting to the hotel a little tricky. Even though you can see it from the road (RT 13), one has to weave through a strip mall parking lot and then around to the "back" of the hotel which is actually the front and reception., Do not attempt to enter the hotel from the RT 1 Toll Road access road even though it looks possible (it is not). Once I made that mistake and had to drive a very long way on the Toll Road before I could get off - my wife is still unhappy with me over that mistake!

    4
« Very clean and no problems »

This motel was extremely clean and the room was very acceptable. The staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was about what you would expect. Standard fare, but very good and plenty of it. Location is right off the highway and close to a lot of needed attractions (gas, food, church) and town center. We had no issues and would stay there again.

« Trip from Outer Banks NC »

Stopped here on return from Outer Banks, North Carolina. Extremely quiet and very clean. Check in was swift and easy. Check out uncomplicated. Staff very helpful and efficient. Complimentry breakfast including freshly made waffles were great. (Make them yourself) Parking near door to elevator. Easy trip back to northern New Jersey the next morning in less than three hours. Will book again on our next trip to the Outer Banks.

« Go to another hotel »

This hotel was dirty and nothing was even offered off my bill once I complained at checkout. The lady at check out listened to my complaint, but said nothing about being sorry or even discounting anything. I shut the bathroom door and had all kinds of hair behind the door. I looked down and had mold around the tub. I paid $86.50 for 1 night to stay in Smyrna DE.

    « Best, Best Western »

Hotel Staff was Excellent. Upon check-in they made sure we had all the information about Breakfast, Parking, Internet and Check-Out. Breakfast was Warm and Fresh. They had more than enough Qty and did not run out of items. Quality of the room and Cleanliness was outstanding. I would definitely recommend everyone to consider this Hotel for your next Stay.

    « Thanks »

We had no choice but to stay at this Best Western. BW has a poor reputation as it is on the lower end of the Hotel spectrum. However this was a little jewel. I found several things wrong with the place but it was, Ok! , I mean look I am stuck, the car broke down, No Marriott around, what are you to do. What is that saying "When life gives you lemons, make lemon aide". We were frozen and tired and stressed to the max. Best Western turns out to be the "Best" "Eastern" as well. We stayed in a nice room with the heater on full blast slept warm and dry in a King sized bed that had fresh linens and no bugs. It was great. I spoke to the manager to express the 4 items that needed attention, he was gracious and extended me a membership which I excepted. I only graded it as "AVERAGE" because it is a BW. Oh and the morning food was hot and the area was clean. I just upgraded it to "VG". Way to go Smyrna BW.

    « Excellent Stay »

We were heading down to Virginia but spend a night in Delaware. This is by far one of the nicest Best Western's we have ever stayed it. Extremely clean, comfortable bed, large room and a great breakfast with a lovely hostess!

    5
    « pleasure stay »

very clean--staff pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed or stay. This is near to our family and close to a lot of shopping areas. Breakfast with a lot of selection -coffee was great. I would recommend this to any one who needs to stay near Dover,De.

    2
    « Cleanliness of rooms »

The hotel is in a good location. Entering the lobby is nice, and the staff helpful. It appears to be family run. Unfortunately, we found an old chip bag in one room, dust and cobwebs in both, and our bed appeared to have been used prior. Wish I'd noticed that prior to sleeping in it all night.

    5
« FINAL LEG OF HOMEWARD TRIP FROM FLORIDA »

Decided to stay in Delaware for (1) night before heading home after traveling home from Florida. Was familiar with area and knew that tax free shopping and restaurants were close by. We had an handicap accessible room. Room was very comfortable, excellent shower, and breakfast choice was just right. Would stay here again Staff was very friendly also.

    4
    « Excellent value »

This hotel was excellent for the price. Breakfast was very good and well stocked, even with hot items and fruits. Check in was slow, but friendly. The room was large and clean and the bed was very comfortable.

    4
    « Easy Stay »

the hotel is clean with pleasant staff. the free breakfast is okay but should have more of a variety and less microwaved foods. since there are only a few guests at beakfast, a chef should be available for special needs. the place is hard to find. there should be a tall, brilliant sign on route 13 to indicate the location.

    4
    « Friendly and Welcoming »

We stay at this Best Western when visiting relatives who live nearby. It is reliably friendly, clean and welcoming. Great location, easy to find, near shopping. My daughter enjoys making waffles at the breakfast room.

    4
    « Comfortable and Convenient »

We stayed at this Best Western for 5 days while visiting the Bombay Hook Wildlife refuge in October. The bed was very comfortable, noise was not an issue at all, and breakfast was ok. There was coffee all day and breakfast consisted of Danish, waffles, cereal, hard boiled eggs, sausage, etc. Staff was nice and friendly. Housekeeping was a bit lacking. We did not have them change sheets every night but vacuuming and general clean up was really minimal but not intolerable. As for location, it was next door to a Food Lion and a great little Pizza Shop/Italian restaurant called Nino's. Everything we had there was great so that was convenient. The hotel was 8 miles from Bombay Hook and a lovely, rural, easy drive. If you were to stay closer to Dover AFB the drive would be in a lot of traffic. We were able to go easily then come back and return for the beautiful sunsets. We felt that for the price it was a great bargain.

    3
« Not as good as before »

We stay at this hotel each time we visit our son. It has always been a nice place to stay but this time was different. I'm not sure if there is a new manager or what but things were not as nice. The front desk clerk was not very friendly. Also, the breakfast was very disappointing this time. There were pre-made "fried" eggs and the sausage was cold. We had to place them on styrofoam plates and place in the microwave. I couldn't keep the microwave on long since this type of plate melts with heat. The waffle maker looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The person attending the breakfast area appeared to also be the front desk clerk that morning. The room itself was pretty standard for a Best Western.

« A small step above an interstate motel »

For the amount of money I paid, this was a really poor deal. The room was standard size and layout. The sheets felt like they were cheap and old. The comforter or duvet or whatever my smarer-than-me girlfriend called it was a hideous brown, and had the look and feel of something that, honestly, you don't want to see under a black light. The shower curtain had a lovely trim along the edge made entirely of black mold, complete with moldy stench. The shower head was a throwback to the "Low Flow" episode of "Seinfeld," really bad. I'm fairly certain the entire staff consisted of a high school kid, his dad, and the kid's curmudgeonly spinster aunt. The noise level was horrendous: 2:30 a.m., constant yelling, pounding on doors, thumping the floors... all in the hall right outside my room. Every time I was in the lobby, it was totally empty, and a phone was constantly ringing, unanswered. The elevator smelled like an old basement with a leaky water pipe. The only good things I can say: nothing set on fire, nothing broke, and the bedside lamps have electrical plugs built in, so charging my phone was easy. The ONLY reason, at all, that I stayed here was because the Sheraton in Wilmington had no rooms available.

« Screwed Up Reservation, Unhelpful Staff, Noisy Rooms »

Showed up for check in and was told the clerk could not find my reservation. I pulled up my confirmation email, he looked up the reservation and said that it was cancelled. I did not cancel my reservation and had received no notification that my reservation was cancelled. The front clerk just sort of shrugged and said there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to the manager and his response was that the manager was not there. Lovely. No apology, no suggestion for fixing the situation. Basically, just a shrug as we stood there with two little kids and nowhere to stay for the night. Luckily, I was there for a family event and a family member had booked an extra room for someone that could no longer make it. We took that room and had a place to stay for the night. We still have no idea who or why our reservation was cancelled and why nobody notified us of that cancellation. Breakfast was lousy. We grabbed an apple and banana and that was it. They had these weird cold eggs and some sausage. Waffle maker seemed to be working but was not about to wait a half hour for my turn. Rooms were noisy. Guests on the elevator with us were complaining about the same thing. You could hear people walking above you, we could hear a party going on above our heads all night and there was some sort of drip in the ceiling of one my cousins's rooms. Bottom line: This was a terrible experience and our family will be choosing a different hotel next time we have to stay in the area.

    5
    « Outstanding Place! »

If your travels take you to the Dover/Smyrna area, you will feel right at home at this hotel. The place is clean, lighted, well organized, with great attention to detail. The staff is friendly and available. I highly recommend this property.

    4
« Nice Place Clean Good Breakfast »

We enjoyed are stay. The staff was not very friendly or especially helpful. They were not rude, but did not go out of their way to help. The Breakfast was not ready at the 6:30 time posted. It was about 10 mins late and they did not have any hot eggs, just hard boiled. The staff, when asked about the eggs, did not give an explanation.

    5
« WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY »

Staff very friendly, room spotless. breakfast great. I would definitely recommend this hotel! One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Highly recommend. You can definitely tell that much care is given to taking care of the property and serving their customers

    4
    « OK room »

I prefer a hotel with windows that open. This hotel did not offer that feature. The hotel was mostly clean with comfortable beds and an edible breakfast. The pool looked clean, but we never saw or heard the filter running. Also, there was no chlorine odor around the pool.

    3
    « Just passing through »

We stopped for a night while driving. The room was fine but I'm not sure the cleaning staff cleaned our room...We found a swim suite hanging from the back of the bathroom door, the bath mat provided had holes in it and certainly needs replacing. Also, we were only provided 2 large towels and one face towel for 2 adults and 1 child!
