    « A Fabulous Weekend... »

We celebrated our 40 year School Reunion at the Carrington in Shepparton and it was a huge success (there were around fifty of us). This was mostly thanks to Mary, Kathy and the staff at the Carrington, for whom nothing was too much trouble. The function room was perfect, with facilities for a powerpoint, and music throughout the night. The food was wonderful - plenty of it and beautifully cooked. Although it was finger food, everyone was happy with the amount and quality. Drinks were served at bar prices, and the range catered for all tastes. Mary and the team made sure that we had everything we needed for the event to run smoothly and everyone commented on the great choice of venue. A number of our ex-students stayed overnight in the accommodation which was terrific - lovely and quiet. Breakfast next day was held in the restaurant, and again, nothing was too much trouble when quite a number of us turned up! Two of the restaurant staff particularly, went out of their way to make us welcome (I think Linda? and a gentleman whose name I didn't catch). All in all, I would highly recommend The Carrington for a fabulous experience!

« Good Location, Average Stay »

This hotel is in a good spot in Shepparton and for the price was not a bad value. However, the staff seem to have some serious tension between upper and lower-middle management. They had trouble getting us checked in due to miscommunications between faculty and blamed each other. There was a wedding party going on during the weekend of the Triathlon so those who needed to sleep were kept up by loud music and people drinking in the car park until 11pm. The rooms were ok, small bathrooms with some average plumbing but bed was large and comfortable. The TV and dvd players were very old and dvd player was broken. There was nothing special about the rooms and we were glad we got the booking at a low price. Overall, I think for Shepparton it is one of the better places to stay as some of our other mates who were racing said their accommodations were even worse elsewhere. We did not try the restaurant in the hotel but it seemed clean nice and was open for breakfast. The main lobby and toilets were clean and comfortable. For a discounted price it is a good value. There was parking and again all in a good location, across from Victoria Park and near shops and cafes.

    « pleasantly surprised »

Business trip again and one night in Shepparton. Checked in and found booking had been made for one week later. This was not a problem, still got the same standard of room that was booked. Reception staff very helpful as she was about to go off duty but stayed to make sure all was okay. Room was half way down eastern ground floor side of rooms. Parking outside room not designated and was warned that external dining guest may take park spot if I was out for the evening! Room was very surprising. The decor made me think I was in an upmarket Hotel rather than a rural motel in NE Victoria. Very neutral tones, and a comfy chair. Dinner and breakfast in my room. Dinner was pretty slow to arrive but was not too bad when it got there.Staff friendly. I have noted other comments about the grounds. It was hard winter and obviously outdoor pool was not in use,BUT it was pretty grotty with leaves and general detritus around the enclosed area. For later guests, I doubt the area had been touched since the previous summer. Suggestion to Best Western plus Carrington: Designated parking for your in-house guests. They are your bread and butter and casual external diners find parking in other areas.

« Lovely spacious room; beautiful reception decor; no indoor pool as advertised; outdoor pool unkept and dirty. »

This review may sound a bit heated, as i am so upset i am writing even before checking out. I am heavily pregnant and booked a night away before baby comes - i chose this hotel as it had a beautiful outdoor pool and all i wanted was to enjoy the water. Check in was delayed due to computer issues so it gave.me time to go look at the pool - it was very dirty....  When asked about it, reception staff said they couldnt do anything as 'the boys' werent there and she did not know when and if that could be fixed. Later i was told it would take up to 4 hours to clean it so they wouldnt do it - they didnt even take the bugs from the top! I even offer to do it myself and heard a big no. Back in the room i had a look on Booking.com and realised an indoor pool was advertised; i went to reception to ask and was quickly shut down by another reception lady 'Wotif is wrong, there is no indoor pool'. Followed by not believing me that the outdoor one was dirty, saying the problem was a storm 'the other day'. The pool area was covered in cobwebs, the water feature was off, chairs with thick brown dust, branches and bugs in the water and the worst: black slime coming off the pool floor tiles. To make a long story short: in the 2 instances - with 2 different staff members i was antagonised. They were confrontational and actually raised their voice to me, acting like i was being a total inconvenience. They did not feel accountable for any of the issues, blaming the weather, the external websites, changes i made to my reservation, the busy wedding they were having that day.. Not once i  had an apology or any show of good customer service, a show of care and concern - even if nothing could really be done, their attitude was the biggest problem: lack of care for the customer. The second lady walked off on me saying i could come for breakfast the next day. As if getting free breakfast was the reason for this. They didnt spoil my weekend because I didn't let them, but this was a terrible experience. Certainly not coming back, a shame as the premisses are actually lovely. Latest news: coming back from dinner our parking spot was taken and apparently is a free for all and you might have to park in the street...

    « Weekend away »

Lovely place , great staff, even with the out break of Mozzies there were right on hand to fix it . Asked the lovely lady at night for a plates and cutlery after restaurant was closed and it was no trouble for her to get them for us .

    « Mixed review »

Checked in to this hotel. Went to have a swim in the pool however it was dirty so wasn't able to swim. Very disappointed with this. Room was lovely. Bed bit uncomfortable. Great big tv. Would still stay again. Extra bonus was the fly/bug spray to get rid of the mozzies that made their way into the room.

« Great location opposite the lake »

In Shepparton for work and this was the last available room. The suite was very large however little furniture where you can sit and be comfortable. Heating was cranked up to 30 degrees to keep room warm, no hope for bathroom which is very spacious but it was like walking into a cool room.

« Not bad for Country accommodation »

I grew up in Shepp so I'm not always a glass half full with views of the town. This place was great. Fresh clean and modern. Rooms were smallish but no biggie. It was clean and modern so that suits me. Parking to the front of the room so under our watchful eye. Sounds weird but it's that old style Hotel where you can drive up to your room past reception. Even though it was to cool for a swim there is a pool and a restaurant so all services at hand. Can walk into town centre but we drove. Don't want anyone remembering me !. Overall quite good and for a special price under $120 I'd stay again.

    « Overnight Stay »

Check in was quick and smooth, I had a room upstairs which overlooked the back garden and parking lot. Parking was easy for my large 4WD. Room was generous in size, clean and modern. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower pressure was great. TV had a great selection of channels. Great stay and friendly staff. Check out was also faultless.

    « A Cut Above - Classy »

A quality & tasteful motel, fitted out to impress! A delight to stay in. WIFI internet was not secure & very difficult to get connected to. cobwebs on ceiling cornices in bathroom didn't quite go with the decor though.

    « Tre ordinaire »

How hard is it, regional Victoria? To drag yourselves from the till and into the rooms you're providing? Freezing cold in Shepparton..freezing. Three rooms booked..none together as 'we're full with corporates tonight'. The globe in my bedside lamp has blown..the room is freezing and ordinary. The Tv control doesn't work properly and the milk for tea/coffee,long life rubbish...seriously...how hard is it to replace this crap with a little jug of fresh milk..? Or to pop down a little prior to our expected arrival to turn the heaters on? It's the little things, always...

    « A great experience! »

Stayed here for two nights and it was lovely. Very clean and everything was new and well looked after. Service was exceptional. Staff very friendly and willing. Overall an extremely pleasant experience.

    « Wonderful staff »

We arrived late due to airline hold-ups. The host, Mary, was so accommodating in ensuring that we would be able to get access to our room no matter what time we arrived. The dining room staff were also friendly and helpful. It sounds cliche but real country hospitality. The room was clean. We would recommend this motel.

    « Sensational »

We stayed two nights at the Carrington and could not fault a thing. Great location (across from the lake) and only took a few minutes to walk into the CBD. We had one meal in the restaurant and all the staff were just magnificent. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms were modern and stocked with great quality toiletries. We will definitely stay at the Carrington again.

    « Top Class Restaurant »

Food & service here is very good quality. Ambience is warm & welcoming. Has a small relaxed couch area for pre dinner drinks or coffee/dessert. Always a favorite for us. Nice view across the lake. Open for dinner only though

    « Not a Best Western Plus »

I would compare this hotel to Kew Victoria, another Best Western Accomodation. Certainly not in the same category. The rooms are certainly a lot smaller, specially for a Excutive King. Sure yes it is very clean, as it should be. The shower was just a common one, nothing out of the ordinary, not that you stay in the shower, however comparing it to Kew the Carrington is the same as any Jo blow motel on the side of the road. I think I would try somewhere else before coming back. Oh, we stayed in the Excutive King Room, what a let down.

    4
    « Clean and tidy »

Stayed here for a night on our way to Melbourne and this motel is pleasant, easily located on the main road and quiet. The room was smallish however clean and tidy and had all the necessary amenities one would need to rest up after a long drive. The receptionist was friendly and recommended several local eateries for us to choose from. A very pleasant stay.

    « good value »

Stayed for 1 night in early June as part of a work trip. My room was very comfortable, good size bed and tv and the shower was really really good. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious ( i had the pork belly) and there was a good wine selection. Breakfast was also tasty and ample. The room and breakfast deal was value for money.

« Can be noisy on the weekend »

Stayed here on a Saturday night and called while on the road and paid $150 for a room. The Good: Comfy Bed, Clean Room, Big TV, real milk. Pleasant receptionist. Room ambience. The Bad: Poor range of pillows, carpark was being used by restaurant patrons so no parking right outside room, noisy (but it died down as the restaurant closed). Wifi that is free but continuously kicked me off - so annoying. For the price I probably wouldn't stay here again I am a light sleeper and enjoy winding down surfing the net and playing Words with Friends.

« A little bit of bling in Shepparton »

We stayed for two nights in Shepparton during a recent road trip to Victoria. The Best Western Plus is a fine accommodation choice, with comfortable and spacious rooms and importantly a very clean bathroom. It is a bit of a walk to the main shopping area but we weren't there to shop, we spent each day touring. Our main purpose was to visit Cactus Country in Strathmerton. We ate in the dining room on the first night and the food was good and plentiful. The second night we ordered room service and again the food was really good - a warning though, don't order too much, the meals are very large. The lobby and dining room are very glitzy with a touch of Hollywood, and we loved the added bling in the rooms by way of the lampshades with the glowing New York skyline. These little touches make a difference, especially in a regional hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room was quiet and restful.

    « Great stay »

Stayed here for one night for work and it was an excellent stay. Wonderful staff. Beautiful rooms and lovely restaurant. Loved the way I was treated as a single person, dining alone! Great location near the lake and within distance of everything I needed.

I stayed in Mansion room on opposite side of hotel. Quiet charming and spotless. The grounds gorgeous. The staff beautiful. Great for a romantic weekend. Will definitely stay again. The restaurant has a great wine selection and great food

« Stayed in "Shep" overnight, really nice staff and modern clean rooms »

I drove from Melbourne for a meeting and because of the distance stayed overnight. The internet was good (10 mbs) and reliable. The bathroom was modern and clean. The bed was great. I like to charge my phone overnight next to the bed, the power points were behind the bed, just a bit difficult to get to. I was really quiet in room I couldn't hear any traffic but I did hear the train at 5:30 am ( rain line more than 100m from the hotel). The breakfast was great, great coffee overlooking the lake. We had a late dinner (8:15 pm) the staff were fantastic and food really good.

« Nice rooms but snobby service »

Stayed here multiple times for work and eventually had enough of the pretentious, moody receptionist.Have moved on. Overall, the hotel rooms are new and well furbished. My preference is to stay in the upstairs rooms as they are larger, and some have nice views of the lake.It is a main road out the front though so it does get a little noisy with traffic. The regular downstairs rooms are newer than some of the other motels but still suffer from bugs which come in when the lights are on. The Manor has very plush rooms but the doors pretty thin so you'll hear your neighbours leave. Also, it's a short walk to the car park.

« Rude staff dirty room »

My wife and I booked a room paid 180 a night was placed in room no 2 of the old building, on first inspection the room looked nice and tidy but the closer you looked the worse it got their was a large Mould build up on the ceiling above bedroom window, the front of the toilet below the seat was covered in what looked like caked on poo. I noticed half a can of insect spray in the cupboard, I later found out why they had it after been in the room for 2 hrs I had 10 insect bites on my face alone. After calling the hotel reception at 1130 pm I was told they would bring up another can on insect spray to help Fum agate the room, no apology no nothing we left the hotel the same day we checked in, I have stayed in a lot of best western hotels both here and in the states and after this episode we will never stay in a best wesrern ever again

    « Shepparton overnight »

Had an overnight stay in Shepparton and chose this Motel after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. We chose a renovated room, and found it to be of very good standard, lovely new bathroom, plenty of room and a comfortable bed. As the room was at the rear of the Motel we did not have any traffic noise. Do not be fooled by the "Grand" reception. The rooms behind the facade are normal motel style rooms.

    « Business Stopover »

Recently stayed at The Carrington while travelling for work. Did not pre booked but upon arrival the reception lady was very helpful and pleasant. Hotel is located across the road from the lake and has a big walking track if want a evening or morning walk. Had the option of executive or standard room. Chose the standard and was very impressed. Ground level parking outside your room which is great for any sales rep who carries stock and samples as usual requires countless trips to the car grabbing stuff through out the evening. Room was excellent, comprised a large bed and 42" LCD T.V, was spotless and bathroom was modern with excellent shower pressure. Room had a great sofa chair that was so comfy actually fell asleep in while trying to catch up on work. My only suggestion would be a more comfortable chair at your work station as the current was solid and a little sore on the back after driving all day. Had room service dinner. Do yourself a favour and make sure you eat in house as the connecting restaurant is amazing. Overall a great hotel and would recommend

    « Successful Shepparton »

Travel in the Shepparton region can provide some long days, then one can be assured of a fantastic stay here at the Carrington. This was my 5th or 6th stay here & I have never had a bad nights rest, it is a great hotel close to the centre of town. The rooms on the upper level over look the lake which provides some time to reflect on the days work while sipping on a drink from the mini bar. Beds & pillows I have always found to be very comfortable while the bathroom is well lit with a good shower. Room service menu has plenty to choose from for both Dinner & Breakfast. Will be a returning customer when next in the region.

    « Less than perfect »

Room I booked wasn't available and tried to pass off an inferior room in the manor house as an upgrade. Found Condom wrapper on floor in the room. Room had a very strong musky odor(mold?). Tried to switch rooms but was no better. Door to balcony was broken. Door into hall was of poor quality and didn't block light or sound from hall. Rooms need an uplift. Staff was pleasant but didn't appreciate being questioned by house keeping the next day about the condom wrapper found in the room and they didn't even apologies for not seeing it when cleaning. Restaurant is very overpriced for what it is. Ordered a $16 chocolate mousse which was made with nestle melts(cheap cooking chocolate). How do I know this? Well the waitress told me after I complained the the dessert tasted of cheap chocolate. Could understand why it would taste bad if the chef had used nestle melts.

« Great conference location and accomodation »

Thanks to the Carrington for providing wonderful conference facilities, fantastic food and beautiful accommodation for our work function. The service from Mary and the team was very professional. Great to work with. Thanks for a great function.

« Great hotel, request quiet room »

Arrived quite late after driving through thunderstorms, to a warm welcome from the lady on reception. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped, including free WiFi. There restaurant offers breakfast but note that it is is closed on a Sunday night with no room service available either. Very comfortable bed and pillows but unfortunately, thin walls so I could hear the neighbour snoring for most of the night! Also, there is a train that runs thorough the night which would be heard from the room I was in. Friendly, efficient check out. The hotel is well located, opposite the lake and in close proximity to the town.

    « R and r »

Stall hear for some r and r and it was great becomes cit was my birthday so I had it there and we got the room was or ready made up so you had to do was just sit and watch TV and the good bit is that the kitchen is heady behind a door so you don't have to looking at it but it looks like a motel more then a hotel becomes or the rooms are on the ground so you can just walk to them

    4
« modern and clean motel - almost 5 star. »

The hotel is modern, very clean, spacious and comfortable - a level above other Best Western Hotels. All modern amenities including fridge with mini bar, Austar cable channels on TV, pool with a sun baking area and on site parking. There is a restaurant / bar - but i did not attend so cant review. Located on the highway opposite the Lake and green zone. WiFi was available for a small cost (from memory).

Stayed 1 night in King room with spa. Great size room with all the creature comforts. We had a balcony with a view to Victoria Park Lake which was very nice. The staff were friendly and the quality of the hotel in general was very high. Great location, short walk to centre of town.
