« Expensive shoes never returned, obviously stolen! »

They somehow removed this review from a few weeks ago, so we are reposting it. We were a half hour underway back home when we realized we'd left an expensive pair of boots beside one of the beds in our room. We called immediately, were transferred to housekeeping and got voicemail, left a message which was never returned. Called again when we got back to North Carolina a few hours later, told a desk clerk our predicament, she said to contact the housekeeping manager and she would also leave him a note to call us. He never did, We contacted him the following day, no answer, so emailed and he replied by email quite a while later saying he was out. We replied saying he could at least take the time to tell us whether someone on staff did find the boots in the room. Nothing. Finally more than two days later, he emailed again saying they were not in the room according to staff he supposedly spoke with. But, it was impossible for the boots to have been left anywhere but in that room (after we got there, they were always in the room, never worn and never put back in our car), which means someone on staff found then after we left and took them. We are sure of that. Know it was our mistake for leaving them, but we followed protocol and alerted the hotel immediately after discovering we had left them, and kept trying to follow up on it. We mentioned to the housekeeping manager that we needed to file a claim. He never responded. We've never before in our lives not had a missing item returned to us by a hotel, anywhere in this country, and we have never been disregarded by staff like this before, either. We are frequent Savannah visitors but in the future we will avoid this place like the plague! We warn others to be sure they don't leave anything in their rooms because you will never see them again.

« Right at the corner of everything! »

Really liked this place, very comfortable and clean. Rooms are standard fare chain hotel, but decently appointed and decorated The ladies up front were borderline magically delicious! All smiles wanting to help!

Check in staff and concierge are so helpful and knowledgeable of the area! You are within walking distance of River Street, City Market and all other historical sites you would want to see - without paying the more expensive rates

    « Great location »

« Convenient, comfortable but the walls are paper thin »

This hotel is close to the historic district and central market. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, but the huge downside was the paper thin walls which meant every noise from the next room was audible. They were not noisy neighbours but it was ridiculous hearing them talking, moving around and in the bathroom. The hotel provides ear plugs, apparently for the traffic and street noise, but maybe they were subliminally meant for the neighbours. The pluses were the helpful staff and the breakfast, but we won't return anytime soon.

« Good value in a busy area »

This hotel was practically all that was left that wasn't $250 or more a night when we booked because it was a super busy weekend in Savannah. We have stayed in Best Westerns before and were expecting, at most, a pretty average hotel. However, some are far nicer than others and this happens to be one of those. If you are a really light sleeper and noise of the streets bothers you, then you might want to find a less busy area, as the Bay/Broughton St. Area can be rather loud due to car and foot traffic. The hotel does a nice job of combating this though, with free earplugs, a sound machine, and a constant fan option on the AC in each room. We found our room to be nicer than other BWs we've stayed in, and it is right by plenty of bars, restaurants, and shopping. We found this a great place to be with easy walking to everything we wanted (though the historic district is completely walkable in general). Overall happy with it and would use again if prices were through the roof!

    « Our Savannah Overnight »

This was the most friendly and helpful hotel we've stayed in over the last 2 weeks of cross country travel. We would particularly like to thank Chalon, Lakeia and Akilah who are behind the desk and Ally the concierge for all their help and advice. They all worked together to make our stay very enjoyable. The room was clean and in good repair and the location is right at the corner of the historic district with access to excellent restaurants and other amenities. The only complaint I have is the $20 dollar parking fee. I'm sure most of their customers don't just drop out of the sky at their door.

« Great location to River Street »

Best Western is a great location to River Street. You can even walk into some of the downtown shopping areas from this hotel. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast. The staff was very accommodating to our big group.

« Expensive shoes never returned, obviously stolen! »

We were here with our two dogs from Nov. 1-4, and after checking out and getting back on the road to our home in N.C. ---- we were already an hour underway in our 7-hour trip --- we discovered that we'd left an expensive pair of men's boots and two expensive pairs of dress socks in our room. We immediately called the hotel. The clerk patched us over to Housekeeping, where no one ever answered and the calls went to voicemail. We left a message per the voicemail instructions, stating our predicament, leaving our callback number, and asking someone to tell us the process for paying to have the items shipped to us. Late that nig ht, no one had yet called us back, so we called the front desk again and talked to a very polite and helpful clerk who said she'd check on the situation, and also make a note prompting the housekeeping manager to return our message. She called us back in half an hour and said she was not able to locate the items but they likely were locked in the housekeeping manager's office as most Lost and Found items usually were. She also gave us his email and direct number, but said he would likely get in touch with us after 7 the following morning. He did not, so mid-morning we emailed him, and several hours later he made a brief reply saying he was out of the office and "will answer all inquiries Monday." We replied and said he could at least take a moment to tell us whether the items were found or not. By lunchtime Monday, there still had been no response so we emailed again, and a few hours later he wrote back and said the items were not found. We replied saying that meant the items were obviously stolen by someone on staff, since the items definitely were left in the room after we checked out. We told him we would be filing a claim for the value of these items. We felt we were completely responsible in following proper process when we reported these items missing to staff as soon as we realized it; we even pulled over in very busy interstate traffic to do so! And we made several attempts to follow up on it, only to be ignored for several days and our items allowed to go missing. And, to think we stupidly left housekeeping a substantial tip in the room, on top of the excessive fees the place charges anyone bringing dogs (and beware, they also charge daily PARKING fees that are included in bills) ---- only to have our items taken from us and not returned! The boots were one of a kind to us and had a lot of sentimental value in addition to being top quality and hard to find. We wonder what deceitful person is enjoying them now. And we hope we find out....

    « Good place--Close to Downtown »

This hotel is close to Riverwalk & Downtown, walking distance everywhere. Their breakfast was good, employees were friendly. The rooms was ok to good. The breakfast consists of waffles, eggs, biscuits, gravy, grits, soy milk, regular milk, muffins, bagels, english muffins, apple & orange juice, sausage and of course coffee and tea. There is parking fee per day but it is worth it than driving around looking for a parking spot. They have a concierge service for you, very helpful in the morning hours.

« Nice place to stay good value »

Enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff at the front desk. Originally we were going to stay at a hotel a few blocks away from Best Western. It wasn't as close to the River, a little bit pricey. The staff we encountered at the front desk was rude. So that, made our minds up to go elsewhere.. Breakfast was good and a great selection to choose from. The Ladies in charge of breakfast we're friendly and keep it cleaned !!!! Mary ,the concierge was very friendly and very helpful. If we ever need to come back to Savannah will be staying here.

    « Great location »

We stayed her in Aug on our yearly family road trip. The kids enjoyed the pool greatly. Our dog was welcome and he did very well there. The location was perfect. We were able to walk around historic Savannah with no problems.

    « Loved My Stay »

The rooms were clean, safe and pleasant. The service was great and the beds were com-fort-able! We enjoyed the breakfast and the concierge was very helpful. Southern hospitality at its best. Would definitely stay again, and recommend. Within walking distance to the entire River experience and City Market.

« Don't expect to get any sleep!! »

We have just stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour group and it was by far the worst hotel of our trip. The complimentary ear plugs in the room should have rung warning bells!! We stayed a Thursday and Friday night - There is a busy construction site at the rear of the hotel which our room overlooked. To be fair this didn't cause great problems as our group were up and about at 8am so weren't that effected by the noise. However Friday night was a different matter! We were woken at around 1.00am by men and women screaming and shouting coming from the street next to the construction site. This continued until approx 4.00am. This is the noisiest hotel ever. There is also a very acrid smell around the hotel which permeates into the rooms and lobby area and was so bad one morning everyone's eyes were watering!! The included breakfast was good, but there were not enough tables and chairs so people had to queue for a table. Savannah is,a beautiful historical place and I would love to visit again but will give this hotel a very wide berth!!!

    « Tourists »

The location is great, right in the historic area at a reasonable rate. They have first come first show reservation which I don't didn't care for. They have construction going on next to the hotel, but the gave ear plugs and white noise to mask the noise.

« Very helpful housekeeping staff »

While at the airport, my 90 year old mother realized that she did not have her favorite heirloom from her mother. I called the hotel and asked them to please check the room for the box. Two employees checked the room for us while we waited on the phone. So glad there are honest people in the world. My mom found her jewelry in her carry-on but we are so grateful for the employees who went out of their way to help us.

    « Incompetent and rude »

Called early afternoon on 10/13/16 to make reservations. Requested e-mail confirmation, was told it would come the next day because the manager who does that was not in. No problem. .... Next day came and went, no emails. Called morning of 10/15 with same request. Went over name and e-mail address twice. Told e-mail was on the way. No e-mail, after four hours. Called a third time, got same man who took call that morning. Said he couldn't help, because manager had sent confirmation, "but could only do so once." I asked to speak to the manager, who was clearly annoyed with my request. Instead of offering to help, Britney said I had to call Best Western main customer service line. She declined to do it herself. So I did call the main line ... and canceled both reservations. This woman has no idea she works in the hospitality industry, and if they can't confirm a reservation after three phone calls, I shudder to think what the place is like in person.

« Where is the southern hospitality? »

From check in to check out the staff at this hotel was unconcerned with customer service. The location is good and the breakfast was lovely. That is where the hospitality stops unless you want to count complimentary ear plugs to help drown out the construction work at 7:00am

    « More a Motel than Hotel »

The rooms open onto walkways with direct access to the street. Standard room for the price, clean and comfortable. There was no safe in my room, and I had to carry my passport and spare credit cards around for the three days I was there. The location is great, just short distance from the river and town centre. There is a small swimming pool and a gym. All together very good value. I will stay there again.

« Only one employee to take care of all guests after 5 pm. »

Only one employee to take care of all guests after 5 pm. No TV remote and even after numerous requests in person no remote was sent by the only employee. Very poor service and as We were really very tired after having driven 600 miles we did not have the strength nor inclination to find a better hotel. We were always happy with Best Western till this day. Check my Review for Best Western,Venice,Italy.

« Good location, but poor room »

The location was great. On the edge of Historic District and close to River Street. Lots of parking space whenever you returned from a car trip to places further away. The room was old and a bit worn out. But the really bad thing was thing was an awful smell. We located it to the wall or floor (which was dirty) under the beds. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked (so they said), so we could not have another room. Hurricane Hermine was on its way, so we had to choose between driving away as early as possible or to stay one extra night. The smell made the choice easy: We left and drove 5 hours in belting rain, thus escaping the approaching hurricane.

« Good Location for all tours »

The rooms were on the back but wasn't to much activities during our stay. Earplugs were provided. Lots of things to see, eat and just have fun. The rooms were nice and the staff was very helpful and show true southern hospitality. Shout out to Mary and save those dimes for the bus "no" coach.

« Very close to Market Square »

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Savannah Historic District. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast served each day was more than enough for our liking. The ability to be able to walk to near-by historic squares and bus stops was an added plus for us. I have limited mobility to walk real far so this proved to be spot on for us. Having the DOT be a free ride to most of the city again was an added feature we didn't count on yet made the stay even more enjoyable. One thing my wife and I found to be a real plus was having a knowledgable Concierge on site. Mary and Ali were the two people who may our stay a hit by pointing out little known facts getting around the city and the best places to eat. Without their guidance we wouldn't have gotten around the city as fast as we did. The most important aspect of their presence on site was the friendly atmosphere they presented to us each day. Of all the people we met in Savannah Mary and Ali proved to be the most gracious. Two other people I need to recognize are the two people on the desk when we arrived. Although we arrived at 7:10 AM both Marcia and Chalon were both friendly and professional. At this time in the morning we fully expected our luggage to be stored until a room was ready. Much to our surprise and delight... Marcia and Chalon found a room for us immediately. WOW what a surprise. to be able to check in that early. Before too long... We were ready to go exploring that morning because we had time to change and freshen up. Mary our Concierge called a Small Bus to pick us up and take us to the Old Savannah Tours where we traveled around the city for nearly and hour and a half. With all the information we were given by Mary and Ali we never lacked a dull moment. Not that it would happen in Savannah anyhow but our days were filled with fun and laughter not to mention the good food and fine people we met along our travels. Thanks to all the good people at the Best Western Historic District. We had a great time and you all made our day... every day. Thank you, Gary and Annie Hatton

« Avoid the building work »

Building work going on at the back of the hotel . Very comfortable rooms , good size , with 2 x queen beds . Shower not the most powerful but does the job . Good breakfast coffee with shots available 24 hours . Good location .

« Great Hotel But Front Rooms Facing the Road Are Excessively Noisey »

Great Hotel But Front Rooms Facing the Road Are Excessively Noisy. Nice lobby. Nice basic free breakfast. My room was very nice but was on the small side. 2 beds but with kids it may be tight. The motorcycle noise from the street was unbelievable. My windows were rattling. I understand this goes on every night. I was there 3 nights. Not sure if the back rooms are better. So for this reason I can only rate 3 stars.

    2
    « Ugly and smelly »

Will not return Noises, smelly, not so clean in general Parking extra Free breakfast way below average Ac doesn't work well Not really in historic district even though it's advertised as such Yes it is near the river

    « Where's the Plus? »

Three night stay at this noisy hotel and we were disappointed. Needs an upgrade. Location is great for touring the Historic District, but breakfast was terrible and the rooms over priced. The TV cable service was unstable and we were not able to get many channels. Last night there also encountered a you know what...cxxx roxxx! On checkout there was no response, just a face like, "Oh, that's too bad". The conceirge was very helpfu, but did not make up for the fact that this was just not a typical B W Plus. We expected more. Also had to pay $20 a night for parking!

    « Great Location »

Great Location, great staff, room could use updating and water pressure was low. There was a lot of construction going on in back of hotel. All in all for the price it was a good choice. The breakfast provided was an excellent assortment enough choices to please everyone.

    « Best Value @ Best Western »

The location in Savannah was great. The entire staff, could not be more helpful. The rooms were clean, there is construction going on in the rear of the hotel, but we were not bothered by it. We stayed Sunday to Monday. Hotel, supplied noise machine, and earplugs. We did not use either. Staff was exceptional. I'd go back again.

    3
« Good Location is about the best I can say »

Great Location but the hotel looks very tired and is situated on a very busy road. There was construction going on at the back of the hotel which we were not warned about before we travelled The receptionist was not very helpful when we first arrived. The room was ok but we had a lot of noise around us.

« The best hotel to stay at on Bay Street Close to the River »

Great Staff, convenient to everything, squares downtown, the river and all the best restaurants and anything you would want to do while staying in Savannah. They have the best concierge on site to help you with all of your needs.

    4
« great location, price and service »

Within a block or two you are at city market and downtown with shopping, restaurants and live street concerts. This concierge service was great for booking tours and we got picked up and dropped off at the hotel. Hot breakfast was a good variety. Only complaint was the noise since it is on a main street and a vacation area with lots of traffic.

« Best Affordable Stay in Savannah »

We used to live in Savannah and went back for our 10th anniversary. So we were very familiar with the area and the hotel options available. The Best Western Historic District is the best value in a downtown hotel. Less than a 2 block walk to the City Market and the Riverwalk, a full breakfast buffet, and all staff (front desk, buffet service, housekeepers, and groundskeepers) were friendly and professional. Room was clean and quiet although the water pressure in the shower could have been improved. I'd read other reviews about the noise levels, and was glad to see wooden shutters on the windows, a white-noise machine on the counter, and a constant fan option on the a/c. I was pleasantly surprised that there really wasn't a lot of noise to block. There is some construction going on behind the hotel but it's not an issue unless you sleep past 9a on the weekdays.

    3
    « Nice Location »

This hotel had a nice little pool, and comfy rooms. While we were there, construction was occurring just outside the hotel, and when it is finished, I'm guessing it will be an even better place to stay. It was very close walking distance to many of the cool things Savannah has to offer.

    « Savannah 2-night Stay »

Spent two mid-week nights, while on vacation, at BW - Savannah on Bay Street. The condition of the room, although not deplorable, was in need of updating. One part of the room needed more lighting, There was no room safe, so we had to leave some valuables in our car. Bay Street is very noisy and this was the first time ever, in any motel/hotel where ear plugs were left for the guests. Our TV remote was missing and maintenance brought a loaner up to the room, but the loaner could only change channels...not work the volume or on/off. The complimentary breakfast was not very appetizing. On our check-out day, I was going to take the staircase from the parking lot up to our room, but a drunken bum was laying at the bottom of the staircase, causing me to take a less convenient staircase. Also, our electronic keys stopped working and we had to go get them re-set at the front desk, after waiting behind five other customers.

    « perfectly comfortable 2 night stay »

Let me start by saying that the location is wonderful. One block from City Market (lots of shops, restaurants, pedestrian promenade). One block up from River Street. I will say that there is construction and with hotel being on Bay Street there is noise. I am a fairly light sleeper but my sleep was not affected. The hotel does give out ear plugs and there is a white noise machine in room. Our first morning we had the breakfast room pretty much to ourselves. They have hot and cold selections and enough variety to get your day started. Second day there was a large group and all getting breakfast at the same time. Had we arrived about 15 min later the breakfast room would have once again been empty. You can choose from $20 per nigh on site parking or park catty-corner from hotel (at another property) for $10.00 per night. we elected to park on site and was very happy that we did. Could not beat the convenience of having car outside of our door. If you are wanting to stay in historic district, ALL hotels charge for parking. Some upwards of $30 per night. There is a fridge but no microwave, and yes, fridge is in bathroom. Said bathroom is quite large and ours was very clean. There is a concierge o duty in the am hours and hotel front desk staff was very helpful to us during our stay. I would return.

    « Our Savannah trip 2016 »

Not the best or the worse of the Best Western motels I have stayed in but it does lack some things. Like quiet neighborhood after midnight, sufficient parking, easy access to and from streets, and updated rooms. Breakfast was usual fare but was good. Everything was fresh and the breakfast area was well maintained.

« Don't book on this site don't stay there »

While traveling checked online for best rate, was quoted $79 asked if there were other fees such as parking and told no. Was then told with tax and fees would be $101. When arrived at best western was told additional $20 parking fee. Third party didn't tell me. I was summoned out of bed so she could run my card for $20. When I got my bill was charged a $22.99 internet booking fee. Do the math on that $79 room. There is construction directly behind the hotel an earplugs were left on our bed. The walls are thin and there were young people having a party and singing and also smoking on the balcony outside their room. Supposed to be a completely non smoking hotel. Absolutely would never book a hotel this way ever again. So in the end this hotel we ended up paying $144.59 for a $79 supposed room special. In the future I will call the hotel directly. It was a complete ripoff and a joke. Thanks for asking for my review. Hope you post it to warn others.

    « Awful hotel - a scam »

June 26, 2016 (Ohio person) Clearly that there are positive and negative about the place. Overall, mine is more negative than positive. In their website it looks so neat, so nice. Trust me, this place is a rundown hotel, more a motel than a hotel, considering what is in the website. This is a good example of ?pictures look way better than the real thing?. Only the lobby is OK. Everything else is old, rusted. I am not kidding, even in the stairs there was duck tape to cover some stuff. Yeah! I have pictures. Spend a day and believe my review, depending on your expectations and the people traveling with you. This is a $60 night place at most. I stayed at a Days Inn in Columbia SC on my way here, for less than half the price, that was cleaner, more spacious, larger beds, larger pool (even microwave/fridge), breakfast included, than this one. I actually will recommend that Days In Suite (exit to Columbia Airport, route 302) ? not a bad place for the price The pool is a joke ? it is way smaller than it looks. There were no towels and the place where to put towels was in shambles (have pictures) Ironic that they have a sign that the place is 100% non-smoking but I saw staff members smoking in the premises. Cigarette butts all over the place ? a day later were still in the stairs This place if any, is a one star ? trust me as I travel a lot Some, not all the staff, in the front desk were rude. One lady did not show to care about guests. So much for southern hospitality! A guy parked in my spot ? I went to the front desk and told them to give me another number. That was OK with me. Instead of showing some sympathy she said that was going to call a tow truck to remove the guy's car (what?). I insisted that it was OK since I wasn't told that parking numbers were pre-assigned (likely the same happened to this person). True that was written on the paper but that's not what I was thinking. I also assumed I could take any empty space Iron board was disgusting, with brown spots The beds were smaller than full (what is in the picture is not what you get) The bathroom door handle was broken The bathtub drain clogged ? have to wait 5-10 min for water to drain for next person Bathroom not functional since toilet and shower are together, therefore, can be problematic for many people in a room in particular with ladies The fridge was in the bathroom (what?) Only one light in the room with 2 bulbs of which one was broken No light for desk (keep in mind if you do some computer work or something that needs light in front) Etc etc TV programming was actually good Anyways, in summary, if you have stayed in a crappy motel along the highway think of this BW as no better than that. The place is rundown. For $20-30 you could stay in another hotel close by (e.g. Courtyard, Springhill) BEWARE of this place! It is not worth the price. I wish I would have read negative (or realistic) reviews by others but there weren't rooms available in the area for my dates

    « 12 Hog Members to Savannah »

Beds were extremely comfortable. Room was very clean. Great location for walking to Riverfront and downtown. A bit noisy because of location, but still worth it because of price and location. We were allowed to park two motorcycles per parking spot saving on the parking cost of $20.00 a spot per day

    « Small rooms »

The beds in the room were not queen size more like a full. My daughter had to sleep on the floor because there wasn't enough room for 2 people. Our room faced a huge construction site that started work at 6:30 in the morning. They do offer ear plugs but that's not something I personally can sleep with. Nice lobby with decent breakfast.

    « Great location but..... »

There is another hotel being built right next to it so there is major construction going on, you know it is not good when they have ear plugs on your bed when you arrive. The shower had no water pressure, there was some rotting on the lower wall by the door, and the bolt lock did not work. Could have paid more but overall this hotel worked out. They do charge to park, $20 a day but all the hotels downtown charge. If you are just stopping in to visit the downtown area this hotel will work. The staff were very nice. Beds were comfortable.

« Average at best. Good location. Clean. »

This is a average and plain hotel...but it is clean, well located, and the service was pretty decent. However, key channels on our TV didn't work for several days and the management kept making excuses rather than fix it. I did come to Savannah to watch TV, but it does seem like a reasonable expectation in a $150 room that the TV works.

    « Not too bad. »

We stayed here for 2 nights on our east coast roadtrip. We arrived early, 1pm so thought we would try and check in. No such luck. We were allowed to leave the bags but then had to move the car to an open car park on the opposite side of the road. We then spent the next few hours walking the town. Everyone has their own feeling about places and ours is no different. We felt the area down by the river was a little commercialised and tacky. Market street is basically bars and restaurants. Most of all we thought Savannah was a town of 2 sides, on one hand you have the historical parts then on the other hand its trying to be a town of expansion. When we managed to check in our room was on the rear of the building. Behind the hotel there is building work going on but this did in no way affect our stay. It seemed to start about 7:30am and finish about 4pm. On our first night we got woken up by a crying child in the next room at 12:45am. We gave it 20 mins but nothing changed so i went to reception to mention it. Then another child started to play so we had one crying and the other child (same room) playing. At 2am i went back to reception to make a complaint. Now i totally understand you cant help a baby crying but i was told by the staff the family and only checked in at midnight. This i find somewhat strange. Anyhow i said the hotel had a duty to ensure we had a decent nights sleep and 4hrs does not constitute this. I must say the hotel were great they straight away offered us the money back for the room that night. The problem was this was pre paid by our travel company so we are still waiting for a letter to be sent for that to go through. The parking at the hotel is $20 per night. The manager also waived that at the end of our stay. Breakfast was a bit manic. Loads of people trying to fight their way around but i suppose thats to be expected. We did use the pool which was ok, a little small but was fine. The hotel serves a purpose for visiting Savannah, we just were not over excited about the town. Staff were extremely helpful.

« Pretty basic, but great location. »

This hotel is in a great place, just a short stroll from Ellis Square and the buzzing Market Street area. It's also very handy for a stroll down to the river. Our room was fine, with a huge bathroom, albeit a bit dated. The beds were comfortable, with lots of pillows from which to choose. AC was noisy and leaked on the outside walkway. An added bonus was the free buffet breakfast - nothing marvellous, with plastic dishes and cutlery, but a good choice from cereal to muffins and waffles.

« unhelpful and obstructive staff; reasonable rooms; very noisy position. »

In August I toured the Southern states with 3 friends in two 1930s Rolls Royces. We were treated with great charm and courtesy everywhere we went, with the signal exception of the Best Western Plus in Savannah. We arrived early, at 12.30. Britney, the receptionist, allowed the two of us who were sharing to book in; but not the other two, who had pre-booked separate rooms. There were about 20 parking places outside reception, which were reasonably secure; about 20 more behind the hotel, alongside a busy road, with no security cameras. I asked if the 2 cars were able to stay where we had left them, close to reception. 'No,' said Britney. 'Those spaces are reserved for guests already here. You will be given spaces at 4.30 Until then you'll have to park some distance away at another carpark.' But the spaces were almost entirely unoccupied. Surely today's guests have already left? Why can't we have spaces allocated now? 'Company policy: no space until 4.30!' What? Even though one room has been already given to us? 'Not until 4.30!' The manager, to whom we appealed, was slightly more helpful: he allowed one car to remain, but only if we moved it to the far less secure spaces round the back, near the rubbish bins. We pointed out that the cars were old, vulnerable, and rather valuable. He was unmoved. One car round the back; the other shifted offsite until 4.30 when (you've guessed it) we were allocated a second space near the bins. This was a wholly unnecessary and obstructive policy. It would have harmed no one to allow us to leave both vehicles at the front from the moment we arrived. The 2 other rooms were finally released at 4.30, though the receptionist admitted they had been clean and ready for some time. ( Another guest with young tired children was also excluded until 4.30. He too was greatly upset.) Sometime later I asked clothes to be laundered. Despite the presence of a bag marked LAUNDRY, and a list for 'washing or dry-cleaning' (both of which I showed to a second receptionist) I was emphatically told: 'No laundry service at this hotel. The rooms were perfectly adequate, as was breakfast. But there was loud traffic noise throughout the night. As a final insult, we were charged $20 per car per night for parking. My advice: avoid this hotel.

« Great location Good rates but Noisy »

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Best Western Plus Savannah Historic District. First off this hotel is in a great locaton and within walking distance of all the attractions of Savannah. The rates were very good compared to other hotels in the area. The rooms are very clean and nicely updated. The staff at the hotel were all extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is included but we decided to go out for something more elaborate. The negatives of this hotel are that all the rooms face the exterior and we were woken in the early hours of the morning by guests returning from a night on the town making a lot of noise. This happened every night we were there. On top of that there is building work going on at the rear of the hotel which is where our room was located. On Saturday morning we were woken pretty early in the morning but Sunday they didn't work so we got to sleep in. The work is pretty major and I would imagine its going to be an issue for a while. When we checked into the room they did issue us with ear plugs, so I am guessing they have had some complaints but there is not a lot they can do about it. I would recommend asking for a room at the front of the building until the work is complete. Overall I would recommend this hotel, especially if you are on a budget and want to be in a great location. The staff at the hotel do everything to make your stay enjoyable. There is also a $20 per day for parking and space for only one car per room. We had 2 cars and found nearby parking for $5 per day.

« Best Western Plus and Minus »

This hotel had a lot of pluses and minuses. First the negatives. The hotel is in a very noisy area of the city. On my reservation I knew this and requested a quiet room. They also have limited parking ($20 per night). We checked in early in order to get a good room and a parking spot. The check in was horrible. The 2 girls at the front desk didn't know what they were doing. A lot of people were upset. They gave me parking space #28 when we went there a car was parked in that spot with the same parking pass I had for the same spot. We had to go back to the front desk and deal with all that confusion all over again. Our room was #301 which is the closest to the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Bay street. The worst room for noise. You know you have a noisy room when they put ear plugs on your pillow. Also the room came with no hand towels and we saw a giant roach crawling on the wall. Now the positives. Very comfortable bed and a great breakfast. What a great location. Walking distance to many spots. 3 minute walk to the City Market (nice shops and bars), 4 minute walk to Savanna Smiles (bar with dueling pianos and audience participation). Nice lady at the concierge. She called and got us dinner reservations at The Boars Head Tavern. I told the girl at checkout about our bad check in experience and she said they were going through some transitioning and she took some money off our bill. Always good to get money back.

    « Basic »

Basic room. Good location at one corner near river of historic district. Had one large cockroach in bathroom. One lamp out of 3 not working. Quiet. Breakfast good but not enough seating. Air conditioning good. No water pressure in shower! Great pillows!

    « OK Stay »

Hotel was alright and good location, although would have preferred river front. It was very hot outside and the air conditioner could not really keep up. The room was very small and not very comfortable. We had to pay extra for parking which was not mentioned when we booked by phone. Overall was a good place and what we expect from Best Western, but it was expensive for what we received. We booked the day of our stay and it was a clean available hotel. We have stayed at the Hyatt before which is a bit more expensive, but worth the difference in price. Overall an OK stay.

    « Room decor's historic charm a pleasant surprise! »

Our room was well appointed with decor that made the room look like it belonged in the historic district and comfortable beds. Was on a girls' trip with my daughters and was happy about the very safe feel to the hotel, both for on-site parking and for walking to and from the historic district. The pool is small but was not crowded. It was insulated quite well from street and construction noise. The pool was a refreshing spot to stop for a cool- down swim. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful -- had a couple of parking issues that they resolved. Although our room face the construction it was not loud in the room and it did not bother us at all. We also really appreciated the assistance of the young lady at the concierge desk who helped us find the restaurant that the girls wanted to try. Overall was great value for the price, with good location and outstandingly friendly staff.

    « Wonderful stay »

Fantastic stay in a very clean room with a very clean large bathroom. Staff amazing breakfast lovely with lots of choices. Yes there is building work but this is nothing to do with the hotel. It didn't affect us at all. Good air conditioning in room. We parked the car and didn't touch it for the length of our stay as everything was close by. Carpark is $20 a night. Most hotels we have stayed in have charged for breakfast and this one didn't. So paying to keep the car safe near by was fair. We will Definately be using this hotel again

    « LOCATION!!! 3 Day Getaway »

We really took advantage of the INCREDIBLE location of this hotel, we walked everywhere. I am writing this because I wanted everyone to know that i was not bothered AT ALL by the construction, it is not the hotels fault this is happening, and they even provide ear-plugs for the noise (we never needed these, we were only in the room at night to sleep. The hotel was decorated with a touch of Savannah through out, the breakfast was good, and just we needed before we walked the Historic district. The staff was knowledgeable about the area, friendly, and helpful. I higly recommend this hotel. Thanks for a great stay!

« Convenient location; helpful staff »

We visited Savannah for birthday/anniversary. The hotel is easily found from I-95; close enough to historic area and riverfront to walk and very clean and quiet. All the staff we encountered were friendly and loved the city. Only inconvenience was the one small elevator and large, young groups trying to go downstairs all at once!

    « Clean with a good location »

Clean rooms with a great location at the beginning of the historic district. At first our tv didn't work but we called the front desk and they sent someone up right away that fixed it in one minute. Only drawback is that parking was full and we had to park across the street, but we called the next day and moved to a spot on site.

    4
    « Motel-type, good location »

Between riverfront and historic town. Interstate at front, building works at back - the back is quieter at night. Earplugs are supplied. Big rooms. Staff very helpful when there were a couple of minor problems with one of the rooms. Breakfast OK rather than fantastic.

    « Terrible, hidden charges!!!!!!! »

We stayed here for only one day, and had 2 rooms since we were with family. The rooms were NOT clean at all! There was melted ice in our ice bucket, the carpet wasn't vacuumed, there were hangers on the floor, my mom found false eye lashes on the counter, her phone didn't work and there was missing knobs on the night stand, and her AC didn't work just to name a few things. Also they're a lot of charges that they don't mention. For example, you have to pay for parking ($20) per day, and there is a $75 security deposit per room. We got informed of this security deposit AFTER we got charged. Not to mention all of the TERRIBLE stares we got from everyone because we were the only Hispanic people staying here including employees, ESPECIALLY after they saw the type of truck we were driving. Breakfast was also terrible, it made my sister get sick (stomach virus) Overall PLEASE do yourself a favor and don't come here.

    « Great Location »

We stayed here for two nights as a breakaway trip from Orlando. The location is fantastic for historic downtown, just one street back from River Street and only a short walk to many of the sights, shopping and eating venues. OK so it's not the Ritz but it's great value with clean comfy rooms and a pool to cool off in if you're that way inclined. For us it did what it said on the tin! The breakfast was adequate, actually more than adequate because we've paid more on many an occasion for room only so a good breakfast included was an added bonus. Yes it's a little bit noisy.....but we have street noise at home so no biggy. But I'm saving the best until last; the staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful. Special mention goes to Ali the concierge who was so patient with our questions and who made some fantastic suggestions for restaurants. We'd definitely return. Great service and friendliness beats luxury any day!

    « Mother's birthday trip. »

We stayed here last year for mother's birthday week and we knew we would enjoy another stay at the same hotel. Plus it is close to everything we wanted to do while there. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, they went over and above other places we have stayed. The beds could be a little softer for me but otherwise a wonderful stay.

« Good location, good value »

Very convenient, very helpful staff, comfortable, clean rooms. Returned for second stay on return of trip. Would recommend. Had helpful concierge available for booking tours and travel information. Parking charge. Convenient location for walking to historic "River Walk". Lots of recommendations for restaurants. Elevator helpful. Breakfast, lots of choices.

    « Great location! »

The hotel is located near the river and in the historic district, short walk to Bull Street! Room was clean, bed was comfortable! Front desk was friendly and helpful! Breakfast was very good, with egg, sausage, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, etc... Parking spots are tight, but convenient, as you don't need to drive anywhere if you want to visit the historic part. We didn't mind paying the $20 because we saved not having to pay the parking meters or public parking to drive around. We will stay here again when we come to Savannah!

    « "Price Gougers" »

Let me just say all was well until we checked out and was hit with hidden fees: $20 for parking, and $150 for pet cleaning fee. I am 50 years old and the parking space has always been included with the room. And there is no way it would cost $150 to clean up a little dog hair. Every other hotel i used this week charged $20 for pets. All thats left to say is; " lesson learned".

« Ideal base for your Savannah experience »

Very comfortable accomodation with great friendly staff and a good breakfast. Ideal base for visiting Savannah just a short walk from River Street and the downtown area. Has a small well appointed pool which we got to ourselves for an afternoon. Excellent concierge service. Stayed on the first two days of summer, had a great time.

    4
« Great staff, nice beds, shortage of amenities »

Everyone is very helpful, breakfast is very good, just a couple of things: they don't have enough tv controls for every room and you can't change channels or modify volume if you don't have a control; the other thing was they ran out of floor towels, one day we had it, the other two we didn't. The location is very convenient.

« Terrific Location for Walkers »

This hotel is conveniently located near the historic Riverfront, but also an excellent walking proximity to historic downtown as well as many of the tourist attractions. Some walks are longer than others but the architecture is beautiful everywhere and a must see.

    3
« Great location, some things need addressing »

1 very pleasant lady @ check-in, ans the ph, solving prob, etc -took forever. 4 people-3 towels. Took 2 calls and 30 mins to get more. Received torn, stained towels. Dust in corners. I looked behind the nightstand to plug in ph, clearly had not been cleaned in years! Otherwise, room was comfy. All staff we encountered were pleasant and friendly and location was perfect.

    4
    « Very good. »

The best part of the hotel was the staff. They could not do enough for for you. Breakfast was the usual stuff, but you could eat outside. We were not on the construction side of the hotel, so we did not hear a thing. Parking was worth the $20 to feel safe, we left out bicycles on the rack on out car, the staff promised us they would keep an eye on them.

    5
    « Fabulous hotel »

We arrived at the hotel and were checked in quickly. We were allocated a room at the back of the hotel and a parking space right outside so we were happy that our vehicle was safe. The room was just lovely - nicely decorated and very clean. As there is construction work ongoing at the back of the hotel, staff have provided earplugs for light sleepers, which I thought was a nice touch. I didn't need them myself - a comfy bed made me go out like a light! Brilliantly positioned hotel and I genuinely hope to re-visit this town soon!

« Good Price. Good Location. »

Good Price. Very comfortable bed and clean room. Great Location. The city noise wasn't a big problem. I slept well. We were on the side facing away from the river so we didn't hear the construction noise, even when we slept in until 10.

    5
    « Fair prices »

Fair priced for its location right outside river street. Clean bed, large bathroom, updated rooms. There was a bit of construction nearby but not too much of a nuisance. The concierge was great. Nice old lady with tons of information about her city. Booked us a trolley tour and starred several locations for us to be sure to see. We will be back.

    « Very Good »

A comfortable and central located good Best Western Hotel. We enjoyed the offer of the tour operator desk for a complete visit of the City. Our thanks to the Hotel Manager who offered a generous compensation for a small problem with our room locker. We do appreciate the whole services of this Hotel.

    « CONSTRUCTION GOING ON! »

    « Great location! »

This is my third visit to Savannah and my first time at this hotel. Stayed at more expensive hotels the last two times. Decided at the last minute to stop in Savannah for 2 nights. Stopped by 2 other hotels first but they were booked. Really pleased with the location and staff here. Room adequate. Refrigerator in room was a plus. Noise wasn't an issue at all. Parking was alittle tight for a large SUV. Will definitely stay here again. Great location!

    « Comfortable hotel »

Easy to find, comfortable, spotlessly clean and a very good breakfast. There is also parking, where you can leave your car until 3pm day of check out - great if you want to do last minute sightseeing. Savannah is also a fab place to visit.

    « Savannah, 2016 »

I was very unhappy with this hotel. The rooms are adequate, but very noisy. Their computers were down and they just didn't seem to know what to do other than continue to put you off. They need a backup system to assign rooms without computer use.

« Overnight Stay in Savannah »

Excellent hotel at the edge of the historic district in Savannah. I loved the location -- 1 block to the Riverfront and 2 blocks to the heart of the Historic District. I selected this hotel because of its location and because it was less expensive than the other hotels along the waterfront. The room was very nice and clean. There is construction next door which blocks a portion of the river view. The downside -- you did not get to choose your parking spot. It was assigned to you.

    5
« Very nice hotel. Great location. Great staff »

We pulled in on a last minute stay as we travelled up 95. Storm was fast approaching, and we needed a place to stay that could facilitate our family, dog, and a tow behind trailer. They were able to do all 3! The manager approved us to have 2 parking spots for our truck and trailer. Front desk staff was very courteous and helpful. Rooms are surprisingly updated and cozy and don't at all feel like the Best Westerns I remember as a kid. Overall, a solid place to stay when traveling with the family.

« Good Value and Location »

We really enjoyed our stay thanks to the nice and efficient staff, the pleasant accommodations and the location. We were within walking distance of most things we wanted to see although "walking" for me means riding my mobility scooter. There is good handicap parking and the elevator has two doors making entrance and exit very easy. Breakfast was very nicely presented and good. You pay $20 for parking but they assign you a spot so you don't have to worry about not having one when you come back, however, there was someone parked in our spot the entire time. We talked to the front desk about it the first time and they took care of the issue immediately but later another car was in the spot. Since we had a handicap spot and didn't plan on moving the car, we didn't tell the desk about this second instance but parking is something to be aware of during your visit. They try to make it easy for you but guests either don't understand or aren't willing to cooperate. Overall, I really enjoyed the stay and recommend this property.

« Great location and breakfast!!! »

Just a minutes walk rom riverside and historic centre. The hotel, whilst the layout of the hotel is reminiscent of 20 years ago, the rooms are great. Very comfortable beds, 2 doubles. Although tea and coffee maker in room, there is coffee, tea and very welcome cold water in the lobby all day. Free wifi in rooms, and a reliable service. The free buffet breakfast is wonderful. Hot food includes do it yourself Mcmuffin, and waffles, cakes and fruit,cereals... Staff are sweet

    « MOTEL VS HOTEL »

I may be giving away my age, but when did motels become hotels. I like this place because it reminds me of the motels we used to stay at on family vacations when I was growing up. We used to go on a two week vacation every year to Florida and stay in motels similar to this one. They were all one or two floors high back then (the really big ones were four or five floors) with the room doors facing the parking lot and big neon sign out front. Although this motel/hotel is not that old, it brings back happy memories of a day when you could go to the beach and still see the sand dunes from your balcony / room entryway. This place is very clean and up to date with all the modern whistles and bells but the building (like the cars of the 70's) has CHARACTER which high rise hotels of today don't.

    3
« Great location, but old and loud »

We booked this through trip advisor (3 rooms in total but the trip advisor screwed up one of the rooms) - we thought this was a hotel, and were quite shocked when we got there and it was actually a motel style. The rooms are very old and somewhat outdated, the motel is on a major road so it's pretty loud, and the area is on the cusp of being a seedy area. During the day it's fine and the location is actually a good spot to walk to city market and the river front. They claim to have a fitness center (it's one weight machine, two ellipticals and a treadmill). When we checked in they also gave us earplugs due to some constitution in the area. (The construction bothered me less than the trucks on the road.). Overall, location was good, and we got a decent price of around $150 (cheaper than other hotels in the area) so I could deal with the mediocre rooms for just a couple of nights (but wear your ear plugs).

    « !st Anniversary »

Originally booked queen bed room. Apparently when I mentioned I am a disabled vet, the desk clerk gave us a disabled access room that had full beds. Uncomfortable but we made do. The location was advantageous for our trip. The second night an unruly guest made sleep almost impossible.

« May 2016 Best Western Savannah Historic District »

Breakfast was very good at this location. The charge for parking was ridiculous, $20.00 per night. We arrived early before regular check in and we were promised a ground floor room, but on returning after a walk, our ground floor room was given away. Location was excellent, easy walk to sites.

« One Night in Savannah »

This hotel is located within walking distance of the historic area of Savanna, and is not complicated to find. I was part of a large group (between 25 and 30) of cyclists on a fund-raising event. The accommodation was reserved by the organizer, and checking-in went smoothly, with friendly efficient staff. Singles and couples were all accommodated. My room, a double with two king-size beds was spacious and clean, with adequate lighting. The bathroom with shower/bath was also spacious, and included a small refrigerator. An iron and ironing board was also available. A continental breakfast is served in a dining room next to a lounge area and the lobby. Breakfast, which comprises the usual, but more than enough, buffet of inter alia, cereal, pastries, make-you-own waffles, and a small selection of hot food, fruit, coffee, and more, can be eaten outside where a limited number of tables and chairs are available in a courtyard, for those who don't mind the warm humid weather. Parking is available in the open areas surrounding the hotel building, but is restricted to checked-in guests only and a disc is provided for display on the dashboard. There are no good Views of the river. The City Market is a few short blocks away. Eating places abound. A good place to stay to experience Savannah's nightlife and the historic area and for buying tickets to ride the sightseeing trolleys.

    « Clean but loud »

This hotel on the inside was very clean, they also had a great breakfast selection in the morning. However they are doing construction right around the building that starts at 6 AM every morning, right after the night life crowd noise comes to an end. Also, they are not upfront about the $20 a night parking and wait to the end to charge you.

    « Hotel price/motel room »

We were on our way home from a vacation in FL, and wanted to stay a night in Savannah. The holiday weekend price was comparable to other hotels downtown, but the room quality was terrible. Dust and more dust, minimal water pressure, excessive noise - every time a room next to or above us flushed it was as if it was in our room. We wish we had chosen a different hotel, but it was too late to cancel when we arrived.

    4

This was my third stay and once again gets top rating for convenience and the most efficient staff. Ashley and her crew are most accommodating. The rooms are very clean, A possible inconvenience for some is assigned parking.

« This will be my Savannah stay place »

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out EVERYTHING was right on point. The employees, the room, the bed, the AC, the breakfast, the coffee all right on point, All the little extras made our stay the best it could be.

    1
« This is not a hotel, at best a motel »

All the rooms are accessed from exposed walkways, a feature of a motel not a hotel. Construction work is a problem for 50% of rooms, starting at 7am each morning until 7pm. Never before stayed in a hotel that issues ear plugs and has a machine to provide a constant noise to drown out other noises. Also got fleeced for $20 per day parking. Breakfast was difficult, not enough seats or tables. Yes a good location but wish we had stayed elsewhere.

« Great location - but terribly noisy and the worst shower I've ever used. »

This hotel left me with mixed feelings, I don't want to be too harsh because we could have just come at a bad time but, there was construction works right next to the hotel & they started at 6am.. sleep was not possible it was horribly loud, whilst this wasn't the hotels fault it just diminished the quality of our stay. The shower also had such terrible pressure it was laughable... However the location was fantastic, near the water and walking distance to all the sights. so if your thinking about booking maybe just make sure there is no construction happening, because it certainly made my stay less enjoyable.

« Ideal location for historic Savannah »

Initially we were concerned about the hotel as there was construction work taking place behind with heavy equipment but it didn't bitter us as the local authorities had restricted the times they could work. The hotel is on 3 outdoor levels and if you have a car you will be assigned a parking space - request a bay number near your room. The rooms are very clean comfortable and in good working order- sadly there was no safe in them which fir a BW plus is unusual. Breakfast is standard US BW food but all the cutlery and Crockery is plastic and with hot foods very hot to carry. Service was very good and staff were helpful when ever asked. All in all I give it "good but could do better quite easily"

The Best Western on Bay Street in Savannah Ga. is a excellently located, reasonably priced, clean and well serviced hotel. Close to everything, free breakfast and attractions representative located in lobby

    « Noise, Noise, Noise »

When you are greeted with a set of earplugs in your room you know there is a problem. At the time of writing there is a major construction site at the back of this hotel. Work starts at 7am prompt and continues to 4 pm. Then mercifully the night is quiet. Behind this, there is a derelict building, an eyesore, blocking all views of the river which may be the next construction site. At the front the main road, Bay Street, passes by with noise 20 out of 24 hours a day. Only for a few hours well after midnight does the noise subside. This motel style hotel is on the very edge of the historic quarter and as such is in a bad place because much of this quarter is out of reach on foot. You will need to use the expensive touring trolleys to see most of it. There are riverside restaurants within walking distance The rooms are large and well equipped. There's a children's swimming pool with loungers and a well equipped gym at one end. Only recommended for families who make more noise than is going on outside otherwise look anywhere else in Savannah. Breakfast buffet a bonus.

« Welcome respite for weary travellers »

After long coach drive in very torrid rain we were made very welcome by the staff. Courtesy coffee available, free wifi. Lifts to all rooms. We were able to leave fresh food in their fridge as our rooms were not to be really till later

Great Location Staff very friendly. Convenient to riverfront and all of the historic district. Easy to find. Would recommend It is an older hotel but well maintained and comfortable......... Concierge very helpful in booking tour

« Great Location in Savannah! »

You cannot beat the location of this hotel in Savannah! I stayed at the property on a business trip, and ended up walking everywhere. There are numerous bars, restaurants, shops, and more located within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel room was very spacious, and comfortable. It had all of the amenities that I needed for a relaxing business trip.

    3
« Construction in back of hotel »

Based on previous ratings of the noise at the front of the hotel, I asked for a room at the back. I was not told there is construction in the back and the diesel fumes actually went into the room as well from the construction equipment. I wish I would have taken a front room now. The construction was continuous from 7AM until about 5PM, so at least it did not disrupt our sleep.

    « Perfect stay »

A prefect Hotel stay in the middle of downtown Savannah, perfect Location with clean rooms and excellent Service. Nothing, really nothing to complain about. Big bathroom and a nice breakfast arrangement. There was a bit noise at night as we stayed there for a weekend. But we slept very well.

    4
« Great location, charming rooms »

We had picked the Best Western Plus in Savannah due to it's location in the historic district, as the majority of the things we were looking to do were in that area of town. It ended up being the perfect spot. Not only were we able to walk to our favorite restaurant, located around the riverfront, but we were also able to get picked up by a shuttle for one of the local tours. The room had lovely brick walls, and the bathroom was extremely spacious and had a huge shower/tub. The room was not huge itself but was more than adequate for a night's stay.

    2
    « Go somewhere else! »

We arrived after riding nine hours and were told that we had booked a double bed room for our three nights, I have never booked a double because of my 6' 6" height. We also were told that they didn't have our room as they overbooked that night so they put us in a out of service room for the first night. We heard all of this while she was talking to the manager. Didn't even offer any kind of compensation, take it our leave it. The breakfast and room staff were excellent, very helpful. The noise at this place is awful, they do provide cheap earplugs and a white noisy machine. Not any help at all. It is in a good location to walk old town. I only give some place a bad review if they deserve it and this place does for what they charge!

    « Best Western Construction »

Hotel staff were professional and courteous. Location was great in terms of being close to the historic district of Savannah however major construction noise behind the hotel (they are digging a hole for a building or parking garage) makes this location not recommendable. We were not particularly satisfied with the continnental breakfast and despite its inclusion with the stay we usually went out looking for a better breakfast. Rooms were clean enough and well prepared for our needs. Pool would have been nice if it wasn't for the noise .

« Nice hotel just too noisy »

We arrived after a drive from Atlanta. One protracted with delays on the highway. Hence we were tired. Last thing we needed to see were a tub full of earplugs on the counter and a warning that the hotel was noisy. I guess that puts the onus on us to check out more formally the travel agents recommended stay location. A real disappointment as the hotel itself does just fine. Its just exhaustingly noisy and I can't say that I slept at all. A real shame.

    3
    « Not expected »

The receptionist was friendly but sniffing. She had the flu perhaps. The room was clean and a little bit outdated. When we arrived it was quit. The view from our room was a hugh crane, drill bit, and dump trucks which started promptly at 7 am. I think they should have warned us about this ahead of time! Complimentary breakfast was good.

    4
    « Not what I expected. »

The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, the location was convenient, breakfast was good. I consider this more of a motel based on the fact that it has exterior doors. This means it can be very noisy at night and in the early morning. They do provide earplugs, a sound machine, and A/C with a constant on option to help block out the noise. For a Best Western this was not quite up to the level that I expected. It was by no means a bad stay but it was definitely nothing special.

    3
« Mary - The BEST concierge EVER! »

The definition of Southern hospitality should have a photo of Mary beside it in the dictionary. She was the kindest, most generous and affable concierge's I have ever dealt with. She made sure we were taken care of every moment of our stay. We had a lot of fun with her, and felt we were in good hands.

    1
« Seafood festival with friends »

The view from our room was a Hugh crane, drill bit, and dump trucks which started promptly at 7 am. I think they should have warned us about this ahead of time! The part of our group that found other accommodations left. This is unacceptable. They think putting ear plugs on your bed is enough to fix the issue. Room is clean but will not stay any longer than necessary.

    5
    « great stay »

perfect location..totally satisfied Walk to Riverstreet or walk to the square very comfortable beds. Only drawback would be the economy air conditioner ..could have been colder I prefer sleeping cooler but the air seemed to stay around 74-75

    4
« Great Location and Good Value »

The rooms and beds were comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located to both the river walk and market areas. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is on a main street so it can get noisy. They also do not have sufficient on site parking having some guests park across the street. They accommodate my motorcycle in a compact car spot after some convincing on my end. Overall a good value.

    2
    « Not A BW Plus Experience »

This hotel was okay, but did not measure up to our expectations of being a BW Plus based on previous experiences. Physical amenities could use some updating. Parking accommodations were poor at best. Price was lower than other nearby hotels, but still seem pricey for what was provided.

    2
    « Disappointing Experience »

This hotel is not up to Best Western's standards. It is located just in front of a rather seedy part of the riverfront. When we checked in early in the evening, the receptionist seemed interested only in ensuring that we parked in the correct parking space and provided the license tag. We were given no information on the location of the room, the parking space, the elevator or anything else in the hotel. The room was rather shabby, with broken items in the bathroom. Worst of all, a bag of purchases I made was missing after the room was cleaned. On a positive note, the manager immediately credited my account with the value of the items that were missing. Also, this probably is the lowest priced major hotel located in the historic district, which is why I chose it. Next time I will spend the extra money to stay elsewhere.

    1
    « Noise, Noise, Noise »

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it's reasonably well located on the edge of the historic district. Its major problem is that it's on a terribly noisy street and is so poorly insulated that the noise is almost unbearable into the wee hours of the morning (Savannah is a partying and drinking town). The hotel provides ear plugs, a sound machine, and a constant fan A/C system, but even these measures aren't enough. Add to this a sour staff and a totally unimaginative breakfast, and you have all of the ingredients for a miserable stay. Skip this one at all costs and find somewhere else.

  • 2
    « Not the Best! »

This Hotel is in desparate need of an update, room was tired and grubby looking there are better options of accommodation close by. There is construction work going on behind the Hotel, a white noise machine and ear plugs were left to compensate for the noise! Our room was on the 3rd floor at the rear facing out to the demolition taking place, not a great view and also quite dark with very creased bedding. Coffee maker and flat screen TV in the room but strange the fridge was in the bathroom under sink! Shower pressure was awful control handle very loose, bathroom needs serious updating. Small breakfast buffet on offer Cereal,Bagels, reconstituted egg & sausage etc to eat on plastic plates and cutlery provided! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Short walk to restaurants, bars,City Market,River Street and other historic Savannah attractions. The only good thing I can say about it is the location.

    4
« In downtown historic district »

The staff was nice, the room was clean and comfortable. They had assigned parking for $20 a day so you didn't have to worry about not finding a place to park. From there we walked everywhere in the historic district and along the river. The room included breakfast. The only issue was the clock did not light up in the dark so when I woke up during the night I had to turn a light on to see what time it was.

    5
« GREAT GIRL SCOUT VACATION »

I had stayed here 15 years ago with my oldest daughters gs troop, and it was no question to stay here again with my youngest daughters troop. Free breakfast and a pool were top priorities, and being right on the corner of town was perfect. Staff is excellent, concierge is great, everyone was helpful from making the reservations 9 months in advance to checking out.

    3
« Location tops the advantages of staying here at this hotel »

Compared to the surrounding hotels this one has the most competitive rates. But even at that it is expensive. It is all about the location. You can walk everywhere in Savannah from this hotel on Bay St. The price is well over $200 per night with parking. I have a problem with hotels that charge for parking ($20 per night) but such is life. Nothing spectacular about the room itself. The street out front is very noisy. They serve a good full breakfast in the morning. The gal that runs this area takes her job very seriously and can be seen always busing tables and stocking breakfast items. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Being that we had a rental car I did not want to stay outside town and drive through the traffic only to cruise around looking for a parking area. Nice to check in and leave the car for two days. That was why I booked this hotel.

    5
    « Wonderful Convenient,Savannah Hotel »

The Best Western Plus is a hotel that is located close to all the tourist areas of Savannah. The hotel is clean and has a great staff of friendly people. There was some demolition of a building outside our room that became somewhat noisy after 8am. I would highly recommend this property for it's convenience and friendly, helpful staff.

    5
    « Awesome Hotel »

Very awesome hotel - The room cleaning is very good and all the facilities available in room are very good. All the rooms are well established. Area is also very good. we enjoyed our trip in Savannah because of this hotel.

« Great Location but needs updates »

The location of this hotel was great, close to restaraunts and sites. Hotel was VERY noisy with alot of traffic noise and also guest noise. Beds were adequate but overall the rooms could use updating. There was a gap under the door that I had to put a towel over to avoid bugs from coming into room. This was one of the cheaper rooms in the vacinity and had breakfast so was OK for the price.

    3
    « Savannah »

Clean, comfortable, decent location at far end of Bay Street. Parking fee unacceptable. Average run-of-the-mill breakfast. Friendly staff. Parking a bit awkward, and getting out to walk around having to deal with heavy traffic.

    5
    « Nice Stay »

Hotel was nice and the staff was very helpful. They provided ear plugs so I was worried about the noise, but it was quiet enough. They had sausage and scrambled eggs for breakfast. The parking fee was 20.00, I don't know if that is what is charged at other places for one night of parking. The best thing about this hotel was the location.

    2
    « COULD BE BETTER »

Good location ,a good breakfast....but...no curtains on windows (all rooms have wooden blinds that don't keep the light out. Low water pressure , took a long time to fill the tub. Some other things that add up, like no basket on the( one cup at a time) coffee maker.I had to get one from the desk. My parking space was at the other end of the bldg. The bed was soft but OK.

no comment other than get the PAID parking properly scheduled with the guest in mind. No thought at all was any consideration shown and when I asked for a swap I was told NO way. This was upsetting as two spaces were vacant in front of our door which only compounded the lack of accommodation by the staff. I guess you were holding the slots for VIPS and to hell with seventy seven year olds who had to lug bags from one extreme to the other.POOR SHOW!!!

    3
« Good Location When Visiting Savannah »

The hotel is very close to Bay Street as well as City Center. It is always a good time exploring the city with its variety of restaurants and attractions. You can hear some traffic noise from your room, but the room was clean and comfortable. I do wish the Best Western chain would get better quality coffee for the rooms, but it was easy enough to go to the breakfast room for some better joe.

    3
    « Noisy, noisy, noisy! »

I would actually give this hotel 3 1/2 if I could. The location is fantastic, being in easy walking distance of all of the historical district and particularly the riverfront. However, its location on one of the main roads meant that it was incredibly noisy. Internal noise through the rooms left a lot to be desired as well. The room we had was on the 2nd floor facing the road and so we expected traffic noise but some of our group were at the back of the hotel and said that the problem was just as bad with late night revelers rather than traffic creating the noise. Our room was spacious with fresh looking decor. The bathroom was clean and possibly had new fittings. Breakfast was included but was a bit limited. Coffee was available 24 hrs.

« Noisy hotel with yuck breakfast »

On a long s=distance road trip, we wanted to overnight in Savannah. We didn't realize at the time that the Savannah Music Festival was in town that week and so the good hotels were booked solid. So we decided to take a chance with a Best Western on Bay Street near our favorite restaurant in Savannah. The restaurant was great but the hotel....not so much. This old style hotel with rooms that opened to the outdoors, not internal hallways, was not what we were expecting in the historic district. Bay Street, we now know, is a heavily travelled road with much have truck traffic as well as hot rods, big motorcycles and a traffic light at the corner where the hotel is located. All night long we were serenaded by big rigs braking and accelerating at the light, hopped up muscle cars doing the same, and big straight pipe motorcycles doing the same. Needless to say we were exhausted int he morning and were then treated to the free breakfast, a miserable selection at best. Reconstituted eggs were the main offering (yuck). Never again!

« The Good the Bad and the Ugly »

The hotel was in a great location. Within walking distance to River Street and the Historic District. However, being right off Bay Street and being on the street side of the hotel the street noise was horrible at times. Recommend asking for a room on the backside. Room was clean and the staff was friendly and professional. The water pressure was extremely low. I would stay here again but would have for a room on the back side of the hotel. BEWARE parking is $20.00 per day. They had a sign but did not see it and it was not pointed out at check-in.

« Hoping for More in the Historic District of Savannah »

Positive: You can watch the ships come in from your room. The cobblestone street of the waterfront is just down a flight of stairs and up the road a bit..5 minutes walking. The coffee bar and paper in the morning is convenient although there is a great coffee and pastry shop Goosefeathers the next block over. The concierge was pleasant and approachable, A blonde woman who's name escapes me. I must mention COREENA at the front desk, After mentioning upon check out that my daughter and I were given a room on the corner right next to the construction guys who literally walked on a catwalk behind our toilet and shower and that we had to stuff a towel in our bathroom vent for privacy and drown out the construction, guys talking and music she credited us one of the two evenings that we stayed. Negative: Dreary area..not for families...adult only is your best bet. Next door is an abandoned motel that abuts the property..separated by a fence. The stairs to the waterfront are historic original and cool but treacherous for children, elders and drunks. You are yards from the bars and the underground cobblestone street which is pretty darn dark. Again fine if you are an adult there to party. We booked two rooms and included our small dog at booking. We came in very early in the AM to check in. Next morning we received a $150 fee for having a dog in a nonpet room for cleaning. How were we to know the desk did not consider our booking when rooming us? Housekeeping scouts for this I think...could even be a racket for extra $$. If in Savannah for an evening for business or just passing through good location for best rate but no no no frills. We had little people staying below us. They performed nightly wrestling matches at the bar next door. Their trailer with all of their pictures in character covered the thing. Kind of sums up the visit.

    « Great service »

Very nice hotel, however overpriced for what you get. I would have thought it would be like a Marriott or Hyatt for what I paid. That said I agreed to the price and it was convienently located to the area and we enjoyed our stay

« Great rooms, great location, great price »

I wanted a nice motel in the historic district at a reasonable price. It turned out a got what I wanted. Sometimes, we found Best Westerns might be a little run down. Not this one. Great staff. Up to date amenities. Newly renovated rooms with up- scale furniture and appointments. We were very impressed with the rooms. Great location to the river and to main street. Good breakfast. Oh - did I forget to mention the price was very reasonable for the location.

    3
    « Terrible bathroom »

Broken toilet seat that slide and you reported and they didn't fix. Black molded toilet paper that the front desk didn't care. When you pay $470 for 2 night and seat on the toilet seat and it slides and pinch your leg that is very painful, and nothing is done.

« Good Value in historic Savannah »

This property is located near Savannah's historic market, the riverfront, many good restaurants, and is within walking distance of the entire downtown area. Museums and Savannah Music Festival venues are within 5-10 min walks. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful and we found the rooms to be very comfortable - a great value in a great city.

    « GS Stay »

The breakfast is amazing and the lobby a great place to gather between walks and if you need a place to eat some take out. We were a little disappointed at the level of street noise. It is to be expected with the city atmosphere but some of us found it difficult to sleep.

    5
    « Excellent »

I had read reviews regarding the "street noise" of this hotel. However, we had the good fortune of booking a room on the river side and there was no noise whatsoever! I would recommend this facility with a word of caution regarding where your room would be situated.

    2
    « Subpar Savannah »

$250+ is entirely too much to pay for this place, which is on the fringe of the historic district, and is borderline seedy. The staff is friendly and courteous, bur the rooms are quite noisy and not conducive to get a good night's sleep. We were kept awake by a noisy group, who also also awakened us. This could be prevented by thicker walls and/or eliminating the thin adjoining doors. I would only recommend this place if there were no other available rooms in this area?

    4
    « Fantastic »

This was a place we had been planning to visit for some time. Booked for two nights on our way home from Florida. It was overcast the first day and poured buckets the next day and was one of the best times! Savannah is beautiful, trolleys are a must and the hotel did not disappoint. Restaurants are plentiful and good. Would go again in a heartbeat.

    4
« Just what we need it. »

Hospitality is high here. Everyone greeted us when we encounter them. Rooms where clean and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and a good variety of things to choose from. The area is a little bit noisy.

    « St pattys fun! »

Great location for the historic district and for river street. However, the walls are EXTREMELY thin. You can hear EVERYTHING outside. I am a heavy sleeper so it was not a big deal for me, but if you're a light sleeper and go when there's a lot of people around, you'll have trouble sleeping. I can't imagine there are a lot of people similar to St Patrick's, so I can't imagine it'd be much of an issue. The bathroom also has no ventilation which can be unpleasant because the door between the room and bathroom provide little separation. The room could also use a few more outlets to accommodate a full room. Hotel staff was very nice. A little misleading because it's technically more like a motel or Inn due to the outdoor joined entrances to the rooms but that's not a big deal. Hotel staff also brought more towels but didn't make our beds or provide more toilet paper. So, overall could definitely been better considering the price paid.

    5
« Comfortable nice rooms - short walk to River Street! »

Check in was very pleasant, room was nicer than expected, nicely furnished, clean modern bathroom. Comfortable bed, good a/c. Parking was $15 extra, tight spaces, but it all worked out. Breakfast the next morning was good, plentiful variety and FREE. Good FREE Wi-Fi connectivity. Even though check out is by 11 am, you can stay parked in the lot until 5pm! A short walk to either City Market or River Street.

    « Savannah Best Western »

We spent two nights at the Savannah Best Western on West Bay Street this past two evenings. We had stayed there before and were very pleased with all aspects. This time the room was not clean at all. There was a shirt hanging in the bathroom from the previous occupant, there was NO toilet paper (even on the roll), no condiments for the in-room coffee and no tray in the coffee to even make coffee, there was a large amount of hair stuck to the floor behind the bathroom doors, the bath floor was so sticky you had to wear shoes to even go to the bathroom at night, we cleaned the toothpaste off of the backsplash ourselves, there were large finger nails on the carpet between the beds. It was obvious they did not sweep as there was no way they would have missed this. or mop the bathroom) We checked in to the hotel between 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM knowing that we could not get in until 4:00. No problem with that. We came back to get our keys between 5:00 and 6:00 so there was plenty of time to prepare the room properly. Other than that we really have no complaints about the hotel, but this was a biggie in my book.

    2
    « st. pattys »

St. Patty's day was insane! the rooms are nice & clean but the walls are thin! you can hear every conversation, every noise your neighbors make. The cleaning staff was nice, but not sure it's worth the sleepless nights bc of thin walls & cracks in door.

    « Christmas nightmare! »

We had reserved 2 adjoining rooms on the first floor at least 10 days before arrival and when we arrived we were told "oh I'm sorry, first come first serve" so what is the point of reserving ground floor rooms at all? We were given two non-adjoining rooms on the 2nd floor. One of the reasons we had asked for ground floor was because we had a 70 yr old veteran who did NOT need the steps to challenge his poor legs....2nd issue was the towel situation: We did not need any change of sheets or cleaning the room so we gave the maid our towels and asked for new towels. We left but had not received the towels when we got back that evening.so my husband went down to front desk and asked for towels and was told they would bring them up to our room. They never were brought up, so next morning we never took showers and dried our hands with kleenex. 3rd issue: We rarely had hot water. 4th issue:The nights were noisy with stomping over us.5th issue: We didn't realize that there were no microwaves in the rooms and of course were offered the microwaves in the breakfast room- but who wants to trapes down to that for a midnight snack? Of course there is only ONE microwave in the breakfast room and many people were huddled around that so breakfast consisted of cold and awful looking eggs and stale rolls... 6th issue: We payed for both rooms for two days before we left, yet my daughter's card was HELD up for 4 weeks with the amount on it as -she had arrived before we did and in order to go ahead and get the rooms had to give her card...Good thing we had a wonderful time at the beach, good food around town, enjoyed the beautiful decorations, and antique stores or it would have been considered a complete disaster...

« Great location for walking Historic Savannah »

Just a short walk and you are in the heart of historic Savannah. Close to restaurants, the river and all you would want to see. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nicely decorated. The breakfast has lots of hot and cold choices and plenty of seating both inside and out. The check in staff were helpful and friendly. The area felt safe when walking, even in the evening. Very handy to the hightway when arriving and leaving. Just a bit of traffic noise, which they do warn you about, seeing you are on the main street, but it tends to quiet down in the later part of the evening.

    5
    « Great Time »

We stayed at this hotel and it was the best. The room was beautiful, the people helpful and the location fantastic. Felt very relaxed, they have a gym as well! There was breakfast available as well as TV and computer usage. You can find coffee in the evening. Everything was clean and neat. Made you feel very comfortable.

« Great Location and value »

This is a basic hotel, but very clean and comfortable. We were traveling with our dog and it was great that they didn't charge us a huge extra fee. Parking was extra but you will find that in every city. The location in the historic district was walking distance to everything. We would stay at this hotel again.

    4
    « Was a good stay »

Hotel was clean and in a good location. Breakfast was well made and had many healthy options to choose from. The night life can be a bit noisy in the area though. The club down the street can get a little roudy and there isn't great noise blockage. I would stay there again though

« Nice Stay, Great Location & Newly Renovated »

This Best Western completed a very nice renovation of the rooms and common space. We checked in later in the evening and Sheri was extremely pleasant and friendly, in fact, everyone we encountered was engaging. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to the riverfront. One thing to keep in mind is this is an older building and no amount of renovations can fix the noise level. But they are aware of this and offer complimentary earbuds. For the price and experience, we would return.

    2
« Free earplugs in lobby »

We should have walked away when I saw the basket of free earplugs at reception. Hotel is at a very busy thoroughfare and I later discovered there was daylight showing through the bottom edges of door. Traffic noise sounded like the cars and trucks were zooming by on other side of the door ALL NIGHT LONG.

« Best value hotel in Historic District »

I wanted to stay in the city without paying 150 plus dollars/night. Found this Best Western Plus for right around $110/night. Parking does cost an extra $15/night. We walked from this hotel to everywhere in the historic district, plus easy quick walk to the touristy river street. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room and that is what matters most to me, so I was completely happy with this hotel. I spent weeks trying to find the perfect hotel to stay at, reading countless reviews and am extremely happy with this place. I will say the first night stay was on a Saturday and there was a TON of noise coming from outside (we had a room right on the corner) but the remaining nights were perfectly fine. I did notice when checking out there is a bin on the desk full of ear plugs. The hotel really can't do much regarding noise especially in a downtown area, its more of a city problem. I also want to mention the breakfast, excellent choices for someone who does not eat gluten. Eggs, fruit etc. Also the attendant was amazingly attentive at replenishing everything immediately. It appeared she took great pride in her job (this was 3/7 and 3/8) on 3/9 the attendant was less responsive.

« Price Match Guarantee is a Joke! »

I tried to book this hotel with the price match and the criteria make it impossible to accomplish for the best price. After multiple emails and phone calls I finally gave up! I couldn't believe they would not assist!

    « Great Value »

This hotel is right on the edge of the historic district and is within walking distance of River Street, Forsyth Park, etc. It is one of the cheapest options I have found and is clean. The cont' breakfast was average. I had a room on the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor and noise was not an issue at all. I will stay here again for the price.

« Rating Stay at Best Western Plus Savannah, GA »

This motel is very clean and the staff is very helpful and courteous. There is a lot of noise at night from people talking outside the rooms and children running up and down. Things usually calm down after 10pm. The motel is very convenient to River Street and a lot restaurants are within walking distance of the motel. We would definitely stay here again.

« Historic Center of Savannah »

Our hotel is on Bay St, in the center of Savannah's Historic District. A very nice complimentary breakfast is included. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent internet connectivity. The room was a bit noisy as Bay St has a lot of traffic. Parking is limited and the hotel charged $15 extra to park.

« Great hotel close everything! »

This hotel is located in the historic district of Savannah. It's very easy to walk to the river area and the City Market. The rooms were clean, decor pleasant, smelled fresh and the beds were super comfortable. The breakfast was decent and the staff was friendly and helpful. This was a great location that we truly enjoyed staying at. The only complaint, which is minor, was the noise of the traffic on Bay Street. However, I would stay at this location again in a heartbeat. It wasn't enough to deter me!

« Good Location to Riverfront »

Good location to riverfront area and very walkable to historic district of Savannah. Average room with comfortable bed and large bathroom. Room does open to outside. Easy parking but there is a parking charge. Area is very noisey due to traffic and late night revelers. Dog friendly. Green area to walk dog is one block away.

    « I will stay again!! »

I enjoyed every single thing about this hotel - from the location - to the friendly staff - to the breakfast. I didn't see a parking fee listed during booking, but when you check in, you receive a welcome letter. In that letter it states that you will be charged a parking fee. I was glad that they didn't try to sneak it on the bill :) Also, Jasmine at the front desk was SO FRIENDLY and welcomed us with arms wide open!

« Don't be deterred by other reviews of noise complaints. »

Okay, so we read a LOT of the previous reviews regarding the noise and were really not looking forward to our hotel stay. This was our first trip to Savannah and from the reviews I was expecting that it would be like Marti Gras EVERY night. The hotel is situated on a main street which is so centrally located that everything is within walking distance. If you want quieter, be prepared to drive and/or pay a lot more. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful and they give you a notice at check in that if you are concerned with noise to let them know and they will help you make arrangements at another hotel. They provide you with free earplugs AND each room has a white noise machine. When we finally turned in for the night we had no problem. The loudest noises came from the guests (so if you're reading this, be considerate and keep the noise down in the walkways to the rooms). Traffic wasn't terribly loud. The room was large with a refrigerator and a hot breakfast. Parking was $15 a day but it's worth it, in my opinion, as the free garages are a hike from most of the sights and street parking costs money too. So if you're like me and were raised in a city, the traffic and street noise is nothing out of the norm. The friendly and polite staff were absolutely wonderful.

« Reasonably priced but noisy location »

We stayed here due to the reputation of the best western brand. The room was very clean and had the amenities you would expect in a BW property. The price for a historic district hotel within walking distance of River St was a big plus. The bed was comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only draw back was the noisy location right on Bay St. We also had some loud guests who were talking loudly at 1-2 am on their way back to their room from an evening out. The hotel is not recommended if you're looking for a quiet place to stay. But for one night it was ok.

this was an excellent hotel and the price was great. we were right in the center of everything so we could walk to the destinations where we wanted to go. staff were excellent very nice and accommodating we will definitely stay again next year

    « PREEMPTED NOISE COMPLAINTS »

What a nightmare!!! It was like a police state. We were hassled repeatedly for noise that we were not making. A friend's car got towed and we paid for two rooms with only one vehicle so we were entitled to have another vehicle on the premises. IT WAS THE WORST

  • 2
    « So Noisy! »

We booked this hotel due to the lower rate versus what else was available in Savannah, GA. Needless to say, I was disappointed with what we got. We definitely got we paid for. The hotel is "motel" style with all of the rooms being situated with doors on the outside with no enclosed corridors. The open container policy in Savannah makes for a very noisy atmosphere late into the night. Trucks, vehicles, etc can be heard since the hotel is on one of the busiest streets in Savannah. I would not stay here again if I come back to Savannah.

    2
« room not ready for prime time »

shower broke, coffee maker broke, no facial tissues. thank goodness this hotel is in a perfect location to explore and enjoy Savannah historical district. I can't imagine the rooms are typically the way ours was as we were only there one night.

    4
« convenient and reasonable rates »

Located close to the river street shops and those around the center market, we found this to be a convenient place to begin the day or head out for an evening at a restaurant. Breakfast was ample and very well maintained. Desk staff and concierge were always helpful. Rooms were large and well maintained. Pay for parking, but the rates made up for that extra fee.

    2
    « Noise »

the road noise was terrible - the ear plugs they have on the front desk are not an option. WEAR THEM. If you are facing the street you will hear EVERY car that drives by. The staff are so use to people complaining about the noise they just have a well rehearsed speech about how the location is good and the hotel is old. It's called insulation around doors and windows - Get Some!

    « A refreshing stay »

We had a great stay at this Best Western PLUS. We could walk to everywhere in the historic district from the hotel. We had our two dogs with us and found that the Hotel and the city was very dog friendly.

« This place is horrible! The customer service is HORRENDOUS!! »

The staff was rude and unhelpful. I requested a cot when I booked the hotel about a month prior. I even called the hotel direct to verify the reservation 3 days before arrival and never once was I told that no cots were offered until I checked in, after a 9 hour drive! I asked to cancel the room upon hearing this, seeing as we had an extra person and needed the cot. I figured I could try to go to another hotel that could offer us one. It was maybe 6:30 and I was told that I would still be charged the nights fee regardless of whether I stayed or not because it was after 6. The front desk told me there was a chair in the room and that our extra person could sleep there. She also told me that if I needed extra pillows, comforters and blankets that they had plenty of them that we could use. I called down as soon as we got to the room to ask for the extras. I was told that there were no pillows, no comforters and that I could only get 2 blankets. I was also told that they wouldn't be delivered. If I wanted them I had to come get them. I got the front desk to pick them up and FOUR women were standing there waiting for me to get them!! All of them giggling and looking at me as if they were amused! This behavior is VERY rude and completely unacceptable. When I went to check out I complained about the service and everything else. The woman never even apologized. She told me that the bad services I received were all MY fault! My fault because I had 5 people in a room and it was a fire code problem!! How on earth would I know that? Not only that, I checked in the night before and flat out told them I had another person with us. If my original reservation was for 4 and I had another person with us that makes 5, do that math people!!! If it was such a problem why didn't they let me cancel the reservation when I asked upon check in knowing it was a fire code problem?? You can rest assured knowing that I will never again book a Best Western Hotel anywhere, for any reason!!

    « Safety (not) First »

The Best Western Plus in historical Savannah had some high and low lights. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, wi-fi worked fine. Decor is a little dated. Breakfast was about average. Staff was affable. Miss Mary, the concierge, was helpful and sweet. The outside stairs to the rooms were in disrepair. My husband missed a step due to a missing tread. This did not look like recent damage. Luckily, he only sustained some slight brushing. Staff did fill out an accident report. $15.00 fee for parking due to being in historical area. We were informed about this before we registered. Later realized not all chains in this area had a parking fee.

    « Quick Trip »

We planned a last minute trip to Savannah and booked the Best Western. I was worried about the reviews but overall we had a nice stay. They were fully booked the night before so we could not check in till exactly check in time. Once we got to our room it was nice. We were on the 3rd floor and had the lobby building as a buffer of the street noise. We had a good night sleep and the bed was comfortable. We had to head back to Orlando so just grabbed a donut from the continental breakfast. Which looked nice with lots of choices. The hotel is very convenient and once your car is parked it can stay parked for the entire trip as you won't be needing to drive.

« Overnight in downtown Savanah Historic District »

Originally planned to stay at a Best Western on outskirts of Savanah, They stated that a downtown hotel would be very expensive, Called and found that this hotel was very reasonable rate. Took a room and it was perfect allowing us to walk downtown for a lovely evening dinner. The hotel was perfect, Only problem was the couple next to us must have had an infant and they left this lullaby music machine playing all night. Not the hotels problem but was very annoying. Other than that great place to stay.

I quite enjoy this hotel. The location is great, breakfast is good. This is our second time staying here as a quick weekend getaway. My husband and I always have such a great time and vow to not ever stay anywhere else when visiting Savannah.

    « Central hotel »

The hotel is much more a motel than a hotel. Anyway, the location is very good just 10 minutes walking from the real centre of savannah. The price included also a little breakfast. The room is confortable even though a little noise. The people of the reception is friend and they helped me booking a taxi for the Amtrak station.

« They Never Cleaned Our Room »

Very disappointing visit! Although the beds were extremely comfortable and the room clean upon check-in, the housekeeping staff NEVER came in to clean during our three day stay. We went to the free breakfast every morning which was rather good and left for the day by 11:30 am. When we would return at around 5:00 pm to get ready for dinner the room looked exactly as it did when we left...beds unmade, no coffee, no towels, no tissues, no toiletries and no toilet paper. After calling the front desk, staff brought up missing items but the next day the same thing occurred. However, the day we were to check-out, she was pounding on the door to get in and clean. Can not comprehend why someone would run a business this way.

    1
    « Beware! »

Paid for paying then no spaces were available despite multiple attempts to find a space. Front desk would not refund parking fee or call towing on illegal cars. 2 inch space between bottom of room door and floor. Absolutely no hot water in the morning - NONE! Wore socks to walk on carpet and the floors were filthy. Tissue box was empty and only 1/2 roll of toilet paper. Front desk said we needed to walk back to front desk in middle of the night for replacement. Be prepared for constant sirens and drunks screaming outside the door. We didn't sleep at all and felt unsafe during the night. We promptly checked out the next day to find a place that was clean, provided parking places when we paid for them, and was quiet and safe. So so glad we did - it salvaged our visit.

« Great Hotel Located in Historic Savannah »

Best Western Plus in Historic Savannah is great. Great Location. Small walking distance to River Street with great little shops. Also a small walking distance to the City Market. Only downfall is they charge an extra $15 a night for parking, most other hotels in area do not charge this fee.

    2
« No hot water, late room cleaning, noisy. »

Our room was nice, free wifi good and coffee freely available in reception. However we had no hot water on our first night so couldn't shower. When I contacted reception they said that others had complained about this too. I returned to my room at 4 pm the next day and couldn't go in because they were only just cleaning it. Very rowdy youngsters were running around after 11 pm. Not impressed.

« Nice hotel helpful staff »

Hotel was nice and great location for walking around sightseeing. We did have an issue on Sunday 2/7...while getting ready for dinner we discovered we had no hot water. Being it was Sunday evening I was told there was no maintenance staff but they would check it out on Monday. The lady working the front desk Monday morning was very nice when I checked to make sure they would be checking it out she refunded Sunday's room rate and made sure there was a work order in the system. When we came back to room Monday afternoon we had warm water but on Tuesday morning water was cold again. Apparently they had just replaced all water heaters and the one for room 306 must have been defective. I advised the staff when we checked out that there was still a problem with the water not getting warm.

    3
« Good all around stay »

Clean rooms and good breakfast with attentive staff. Even with sound machines they provided I found it a little noisy. The location gave easy access to many nice Savannah favorites within an easy walk.

    « Savannah »

Like most hotels in this area it was overpriced. It is a nice hotel but the water pressure in the shower was very poor. Other than the price it was good. Clean and a great location. All the hotels in this area are overpriced which is a shame as it was the middle of February and a room costing $200/night is excessive.

    4
    « Great location »

We had a room on the third floor. Water pressure is minimally sufficient. Parking is an issue as the lots are always quite full and they charge $15 extra each day for the privilege. The room is big and clean and the bed comfortable. Everything is in walking distance which is a big plus.

    1
« No Parking, No water and Plenty of Noise..... »

We stayed here 2-13/14 2016 and got a firsthand lesson why VRBO is so popular in Savannah. The front desk and staff were very kind but it is obvious the owner doesn't care about supporting them. Parking was a joke and a free for all as all of the visitors to downtown use the Hotel parking lot and you are left to fend for your self. Top that with a complete shutoff of water to the tubs and showers for all of Sunday am and you are just ready to leave. The pet policy is obviously most friendly to those who leave their pets unattended and barking for hours.... Save your money and use VRBO...awful.

« Not the Best Western we are used to. »

Location was good. Check in was good. The property itself had a few issues. 1. There was a serious trip hazard on the outside stairs, rubber liner had came loose and was not fixed. What disappointed us the most ( and we are NOT picky people) was when we received a knock at our door at 10am and the house cleaning person said " I'm going to give you to 11am to get out of here" We already knew the check out was 11am, it was 1015am when she knocked, and we were busy getting 3 kids ready to load up and go. (We left at 1035am). Not the standard of quality we've come to expect from Best Western.

    4
« Great location and friendly staff »

The location is close to River Street, shops and eateries. The staff was helpful and professional. The rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are spacious. Next time I would ask for a room in the back because of the road noise.

    3
    « Savanah fan! »

Great location, noisy but they do provide a sound machine to block out the noise. Clean enough and pretty, updated rooms. Staff is great, especially Jasmine and the other gal at front desk in eves. Parking fee $15/night. The concierge is great also and will set you up and direct you to touring. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of choices for hot or cold foods. Shower was fine. WiFi and nice TV. 20 steps to the river, when you hear the freighter horn walk down and watch the cargo ship come in!

    4
« Very Good Location and Value »

easy to get to; one block from Riverwalk; trolly stop across the street; free shuttle service to trolly tour headquarters; concierge service was very helpful in planning events, purchasing tickets, map explanations and touring tips; decent hot breakfast included with room rates; elevator available for upper floors; we stayed for 2 days to tour the city which provided a good overview; room was above average for this price range- good value.

    3
« Lovely but noisey & charge for parking »

The hotel has been renovated and is lovely. However, the $15 per night parking charge caught me by surprise and the walls are not insulated well. The traffic noise was loud and there was a dog in the next room that had a very loud, low bark which sounded like he was in our room.

    3
    « Too many smokers! »

We are avid non-smokers. This Best Western is advertised as a non-smoking property. Not so much. Because the rooms are open to the outside, as opposed to a central hallway, smokers will step outside the room door and smoke on the balcony and/or the common walk-ways. Yuck! A sign near the lobby indicates that this is forbidden but it's not enforced at all and even several employees were seen violating this policy. We won't go back should we happen to travel to Savannah again. Proximity of the property to the historic district is excellent. River Street is a block to the north. Easy access to the "around-the-town" tour busses. Pricing is fair for the area even with the $15/day parking fee. You don't need to move your car to see all of the historic district - take a tour bus. The provided breakfast was very good and well stocked - the lady in charge is proud of her work.

« Best Western Plus Savannah Rocks »

Great hotel at a very reasonable price considering it was downtown Savannah. Thought it would be noisy, but worst noise was the horn from one large freighter on the river. Otherwise I was surprised at how quiet it was. Water pressure from the shower wasn't sufficient, but when I mentioned it at checkout I received a suitable credit without even asking, so all was good. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Great location. Easy walk to River Street and the historic district. Self-parking was $15, but the low room rate made that acceptable. Car did not have to be moved until 5pm on the day we checked out, which I thought was very reasonable. That gave us another day for touring Savannah without moving our car. Overall it was a pleasant experience, good value for the money, and I would stay here again.

    3
    « Noise is a big factor »

The hotel is fine with a great location in downtown historic Savannah. The room was clean and in good repair. The bed was nice and comfortable. It is one of the best deals price-wise in Savannah with breakfast included and $15 for parking. The big negative: the room was very noisy - both street noise and from neighbouring rooms. A room on the back of the hotel would help with street noise. I could hear the man in the next room yawning. Not sure how to get around that problem.

    5
    « Side Trip »

Excellent stay for the price. Close to the river walk and historic sites. Room was clean and very comfortable. Staff members were friendly. Only downside is the extra parking fee that they hit you with.

    3
    « Additional Parking charge $15 »

Location is great, front desk and reception area is terrific, staff is friendly and helpful. Room is remodeled and clean. However, this location is noisy. Security could be better. Pool should be heated in January. And the $15 dollar parking premium should disclosed before arrival .

    « I'd stay here again »

I stayed here for 1 night and I'd definitely stay here again. All the staff we dealt with were very polite, friendly and helpful. When we first checked in, we found that out toilet wasn't flushing but the manager on duty was able to move us to a new room thankfully. The rooms are a little on the small side but were very clean and the beds very comfortable. Hotel is only a short 2 min walk away from restaurants and shops. They also had a wide variety of options for breakfast and all tasted good.

    2
« Check The Fine Print »

I haven't stayed there. I was searching for a hotel in the area that is pet friendly and came across this one. The nightly rate was a good one. But, the fine print adds up big time! Up to two dogs are allowed at a fee of $20 each per night. Add $15 per day for parking and, you'll see how it no longer is a good deal. A shame, that's for sure.

    4
    « Clean »

Checked in and went to room. Even though this inn is non smoking the room was worse than a bar. Went back to desk and asked for another room. Reassigned a room right across the hall, clean, no smoke smell and quiet.

    4
« Great place to stay. »

Stayed two nights. Very warm and welcoming staff. Clean and tidy rooms with a comfortable bed. It did look a little tired around the edges if you looked really hard, but honestly nothing I write home about. I paid for the parking and always had a spot. A really great location in the historic district to go and do all the touristy stuff. Breakfast in the morning was a good continental, which includes everything you would expect. I was pleased and felt safe staying here while travelling alone. Only gave four stars as I did not utilise all of the facilities.

    1
    « Dont stay here! »

We were greeted by the front desk at 3:50pm and were told we could not check in until 4 pm exactly! We had booked and confirmed a king room and were told we could not have it. The room smelled. Front desk staff spouted memorized phrases but had not personal contact. Breakfast was good. We were in a room that was on the road and it was extrememly loud all night! This was the worst stay we have ever had.

    3
« Nice service but noisy »

Great staff but be prepared for noise between the rooms and also outside. This is more a motel than a hotel. Toilets are really noisy and the shower wasn't too warm in the morning although hot at night. You get what you pay for and it's good value and close to all you want to see in Savannah.

    4
    « Thank you Allie!! »

My boyfriend and I were here this past weekend for a mini getaway from Orlando,FL. The rooms are nice and clean; and perfectly located around all activities. The person to definitely to see when on a time crunch is the concierge named Allie!!! She was great! Was very helpful and willing to answer all questions and help book events. Just as a side note: if there is an older lady working the concierge desk, don't even bother stopping to ask her questions, not nice at all; very rude and short with answering any questions.

    « Hotel review »

Very good hotel. Located very close to Riverfront in Savannah Could have walked to the riverfront shops. Breakfast and service were very good Would stay here again. We were able to see the ships' lights as they sailed down the harbor from our room.

« OK if all you want is an affordable, central place to sleep. »

We chose to stay here because of the relatively reasonable price, and because it was close to many sights. Overall, it was OK. It was a busy hotel, without a great deal of charm, with efficient staff who were not terribly friendly when we were there. Rooms were comfortable enough, and cleaned to about the same basic standard as most of the chain hotels we stayed at on our two month road-trip around the USA. We had a room at the back of the hotel - the view is dreadful: a sort of no man's land next to the harbour. However, we were there to sleep, not look at the view. Breakfast was fine.

My family and I were at BW on New Years Eve and Day on our way to Florida. I goofed and left my Pandora jewelry behind. I contacted the hotel. It had been found and turned into management. « comfortable & very riendly »

Clean with a great staff and very comfortable. I thought that a $15 a night fee for parking was a bit unfair. But outside of that the location and services was great. The breakfast buffet was quite nice.

    « Comfortable and convenient »

We stayed one night. It was a very clean and comfortable room. Beds were amazing. It was close to everything that we needed to get to. I wasn't happy that I had to pay to park there. But all in all it was a good experience and will stay again.

    « Weekend trip »

Just got back from a weekend to Savannah & stayed at the Best Western Plus. The location of this hotel is really good. It is in walking distance to River street which is really convenient. The front desk ladies were really helpful & friendly every time we were stopped in. The bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned everyday. The only thing I would say needs some updating would be the ironing board & towels. The ironing board in our room was leaning and would barely stand alone with the iron on it, some of the towels were a little ratty but not all of them. I am not super picky so this would not stop me from staying here again, just something I might would update if it were me. We stayed on the busy street side & it is a little noisier as some have stated. It didn't stop me from sleeping because I actually prefer a little noise & to top it off the room includes a noise maker, which I appreciated. If you are a light sleeper I would recommend requesting a room on the back side of the hotel, it seemed a lot more quiet back there with less traffic. Overall yes I would stay at this hotel again. I only gave it 3 stars because that is about what it would be rated as far as a basic hotel room to me.

    5
    « Convenience of Location »

The location of this hotel is convenient to the historic district of Savannah. We took a tour of the city on The Old Savannah Tours. We chose the on and off daily tour. The company picked us up at our hotel and drop us off at the beginning location of the tour. We stayed on the tour until it ended. We decided what we wanted to see and on the second time around we got off and on and spent time looking at the places we wanted to visited. Note about visiting in January: most of the historic houses are not open at the beginning of the month or even the entire month. We were disappointed that a few places we really wanted to tour were not open. This was not mentioned before we went on the tour. We discovered it after we were actually going around on the tour bus.

    2
« So much noise during the night! »

The noise was not due to unrespectful people outside - as the receptionist tried to let me believe - but to the extremely poor quality of walls and doors/windows. The closure time for breakfast was always slightly anticipated. The carpets in the room needed to be cleaned up better if not directly substituted! The location however is really good.

    5
« excellent for location and price »

this hotel is located in an excellent area for walking the Historic District a, restaurants , river walk etc. The trolley service picks up at the hotel and drop off across the street. Value for $$$ was more than expected. would recommend to anyone !!

« Great value, great location. »

Wonderful hotel within historic district, helpful staff, great rooms, good breakfast. Very affordable, good value, couldn't be a better location for touring Savannah. Hotel looks to be recently renovated, one block from River Street attractions. Great deal for the price.

    4
    « Value for Some »

Clean, comfortable room and a good value for the money however those guests who are noise sensitive may have trouble sleeping here. Our room was on the lower level and between other guests walking by frequently to enjoy the city and exit the hotel or access the lobby, and the vehicle traffic at the main intersection, it was a little on the loud side. If you are looking for value, and have no trouble with noise this is a solid choice in a good location walking distance to mush of the city.

    « Very pleased »

I stayed here for one night. I was traveling alone and was placed on the first floor, which I normally don't like. However, I felt safe the entire time. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

« Great hotel, but a little loud. »

Hotel was great. Clean, friendly, nice amenities and very conveniently located. My only issue was that it was a little loud, but it was a holiday weekend and they were booked full, so that may be why. I would still stay there again though.

    « Bad Experience »

Arrived at the hotel around 4pm and couldn't check-in until about 5pm, then was told the linens wouldn't be available for another 1/2 hour. The lobby smelled like a backed up sewer. When we got to our room the sink was clogged. I called the front desk and was told the maintenance man went home for the day and he'd fix it tomorrow. I asked for a plunger and I'd fix it myself. Was told they didn't have one. I asked for another room. They didn't have one. We were left brushing our teeth over the toilet. The bathroom light switch is outside the bathroom, so you can't close the door before turning on the light. Which wakes up your spouse in the middle of he night.

    « Great Christmas Visit »

This hotel was warm and inviting. We stayed over Christmas and the staff made our stay feel as if we were with family. The concierge was wonderful and really knew her stuff. She offered travel tips as well.

    « Poor Service!!!! »

Our family stayed here Dec 31, 2015 through Jan 3, 2016. Housekeeping did not clean the room the entire stay. We had to call for clean towels and wash clothes daily, strip the bed, and gather our own trash. When we told the staff that we have been skipped every day, we were told "we were so busy we had to let some of the rooms go". I'm not sure what kind of business tactic this is, but it is a POOR one. Also, we booked a pet-friendly room. On our last day, the asked us to come sign the pet agreement because they had overlooked it on our reservation request. The staff then said we had to stay in the room while the housekeeping was cleaning due to the pet, which wasn't a problem for us, until they didn't show up for over 3 hours (The front desk said our room would be next since we were waiting for the housekeeping). In summary, the hotel's poor service cost us our last day in beautiful Savannah.

    « very nice hotel »

This is a very nice hotel in the heart of the historic area, close to all amenities, tourist shuttle, restaurants etc.Book ahead of time so you can have a room for sure. It was full when we were there in December.

    « Nice stay! »

Pet friendly and cozy! We have a two yr old Chihuahua that we traveled with. The hotel is very nice and the people are friendly and very accommodating. However, there was a large dog upstairs that barked for most of the night that made our dog bark as well. I finally had to call the front desk, it finally subsided. The hotel is located in a perfect place, easy to get to everything. Savannah is simply beautiful! Clean and peaceful! Try the Pralines!!

« walking distance to the heart of old Savannah »

comfie motel located between the river and the City Market, this motel is a haven after the shopping, a retreat from the crowds. i even spent a day just vegging out with their inhouse HBO movies...i needed to get away from the 'tourist' thing.

    « Excellent Experience »

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western PLUS Savannah Historic District over the Christmas holiday. We found it to be a great location, convenient to both River Street and Central Market. It was also within minutes of casual and fine dining restaurants. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean. The free breakfast was of good quality and plentiful with a variety of options for all appetites.

« Nice place to stay »

Right on the edge of the Historic district in Savannah this was a great location. Didn't like the $15 charge for parking but would stay here again. Staff was helpful and informative. breakfast was better than most.

    « location »

Nice hotel for the price and location. Staff was wonderful and room clean. Only problem was parents who don't teach their children that the hotel isn't a playground; they must not run and they must use respectful voices.

« Noisy but great location »

This hotel was close to River street, many restaurants, bars, and the City Market. Also very close to the free bus line, and trolley stop. The hotel was very noisy though. I would ask for a room in the back. Valet parking means you get a spot and you park yourself, which I prefer. I think the eggs in the breakfast were powdered and I thought the quality of the items offered could have been better. Still it was a good selection and free breakfast is always a plus.

« First time visiting Savannah GA »

Great location in Savannah GA Historic district within walking distance of many historic sites, restaurants and shopping. Staff was very friendly and we especially enjoyed the concierge service since this was our first visit to the city. The room was clean and well appointed. We did not like to have to pay the $15 parking fee per day-but am not surprised since this was in the middle of a city. We will definitely stay there again.

    « Just between friends... »

The hotel is still great (it was my fifth stay there I believe), but there are a couple of things I'd like to address. First, let's talk about good stuff. Everyone at the hotel (at least everyone I've talked to) are wonderful - friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, bathrooms are spacious and also clean. And it's within a very easy walking distance from pretty much everything in the historic district. And it's the most affordable property in the Downtown area. This is why I stay here just about every time I come to Savannah. Now, "not so good" stuff... It would be great if this hotel invested into having some sort of security. At least at night. It's not a secret that some people come to Savannah just to get drunk. And once they achieve this condition, some of them tend to be rude and obnoxious. One of the nights we were entertained by a couple, arguing in the walkway (lots of yelling and screaming and treats to call probation officer). As much as I hated it, I didn't think it was safe for me to interrupt. And I don't think it's safe for the night clerk to deal with this. Another thing - a note for sales and marketing. If you have a page on Facebook, please make sure you are maintaining it. The page should be used as a two-way communication channel. Not just as a means to promote your hotel. I sent a message to you via Facebook in November. I know the message was read, but I've not heard back from anyone. Not cool. Answer me. Even if your reply will not be what I am hoping for. Even if it's just one word. Don't ignore me. Honestly, this is what made me give you only 4 "stars" this time.

    1
    « Very very noisy »

This motel is so noisy it was very hard to sleep. It feels like if the walls were made out of paper you could hear everything from the next room. There are a lot of bars nearby which explain why it was so noisy so late and through the night. Don't go there if you want some rest.

    3
« I have stayed Best Western Plus & this was NOT a "PLUS" »

Liked the location and parking was adequate during this time of year, but this PLUS did not have the features or quality expected from a PLUS Best Western. Price was fair, though. The room was small and showing its age, light out in BR, and a few tissues left in box. Employees "milled" around entrance--especially at night. While this may sound unimportant, there are far too many hotels in Savannah to put up w/ any inconvenience. Concierage was helpful. Bottom line: This was a Best Western without the PLUS.

« Smell the of popcorn when you walk in »

Was easy to find, nice foyer with the smell of popcorn that you can take to your room. Check in was easy and gave us directions on where to eat. Walking to room the hallway had a bad smell to it, but it did not follow us into room. My husband went to hot tub and said it was wonderful on his achy back. Did not stay for breakfast, but would return to this hotel.

« I'm platinum in 4 hotel chains and I will never stay here again »

Looking for a place to stay with my wife, daughter, Pomeranian and Yorkie. Rate was ok breakfast was average. Made a reservation for three nights. (I'm a platinum member). Called the hotel to verify they accept dogs. Told them about my reservation. Waded through the large puddles created by the air conditioners. We even tolerated the Cobwebs in the upper corrners of the room. No major issues until I checked out. There was a $150 charge on my bill for room cleaning. Apparently, they put us in a non pet room and then charged us a cleaning fee. I was told that there is nothing they can do. I contacted Best Western Rewards and I received a response from the General manager. I couldn't expect them to completely tear down the room after hosting our dogs. Someone has to pay for that service. Never received maid service although this is normal when traveling with pets.

Great location without the price! Breakfast included in stay had something for everyone from omelets to yogurt! And the beds were so comfortable was hard to leave! Easily within walking distance of everything you would want to see in Savannah

    « Pleasure »

I took my husband to Savannah to celebrate his birthday. The hotel was very convenient to walking to sights and restaurants. The Riverwalk and the City Center were both very close. The hotel was very clean, ample breakfast, concierge service arranged pick up for tours. On checkout we mentioned a minor problem to the clerk, Correna, and she took care of this for us immediately and efficiently...with a warm and welcoming smile. We will be back,

    « It's Aa About the Location »

This hotel was in walking distance of City Market and the Riverfront. Other than that it was a very overpriced hotel. The noise outside was not good for sleep. We could hear the beep of the crossing signal, countdown and "wait" all through the night. The maid service didn't do our room up one day. The room could have been cleaner. Needed a good thorough vacuuming. The handicap bar was broken and to their credit was fixed as soon as we reported it. I probably wouldn't stay there again.

    « Convenient location »

Very nice hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Jasmine even took our picture by the fireplace. Clean updated room. Only issue was road noise. We stayed on the front side and the room had a noise cancellation machine which we definitely had to use. Bed was very comfy. Pool was freezing, maybe the heater was broken? Nice workout room. Best aspects of the hotel were LOCATION, staff, and price.

« Quiet hotel in a good location »

This motel style property is at the end of Bay St close to the river. Easy flat walk to the centre 5-10 minutes where there are lots of restaurants. There is a garage across the road which is handy for snacks and drinks.Had a room at the back which faced onto a road so did feel a bit exposed at night not being enclosed. Rooms were large, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was included and standard fare. No complaints would recommend.

    5
    « great location »

Best Western Plus is very closely located to River Street and to City Market. The lobby is beautiful and they offer a large variety for hot and cold breakfast. It is fairly priced for the location. The staff were extremely professional and friendly.

« Lovely hotel in a perfect location »

This hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the amazing historic district. Lovely rooms with nice shutter features in keeping with the local architecture. Comfortable beds and nice decor. Good wifi speeds and decent buffet breakfast. Only downside was parking at $15 per night.

We had a family group of 13 there for the week, and she was wonderful! She helped us plan our week, offering suggestions, providing maps and making reservations. This made our trip that much more wonderful. I highly recommend using her services!

    « Excellent »

Room was very nice and clean. Also, it was easy to find and the location was great. Just a short walk to Kevin Barry's Irish Pub. The service was excellent and the breakfast was very good. It is right at the River Walk and an easy walk. I recommend going down the steps across from city hall. They are easier to navigate than some of the others.

    4
    « Thank you! »

I would like to thank Mrs. Mary for getting my mother (who has a difficult time walking) to Forsyth Park after the Rock n' Roll marathon. Also, Jadon was great at helping whenever I needed him. Any of my needs this weekend were taken care of. The only issue I had was with the wifi. It did not like my computer. However, I visited the computers downstairs for my needs.

    3
« Watch out for excessive fees »

They charge an extra $34.00 per day for State, City, Parking, and Occupancy Fees. Internet and HBO never worked, when we asked them about it they could not do anything. Plus and additional $20.00 if you have a dog.

    4
    « Really Cute Hotel »

I work for Best Western, so when I travel of course I am going to stay at a Best Western. Loved this hotel more than the one I work at!! I'm jealous! only thing that bothered me was the fact that the remote stopped working in the middle of the night! Other than that I will, of course, be staying here again!

    « Very good value »

While not a luxury hotel, this is a good location and a great value. Located on the west edge of the historic district it is less than a 5 minute walk to the City Market and River Street. The hotel is an older property but has been well maintained. The rooms have outside doors. The king rooms were spacious with comfortable bedding. This may not be the place if you are noise sensitive as the rooms on the Bay Street do get a fair a of street noise but it was no problem for us. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, fresh fruit as well as the typical continental fare. The concierge, Miss Mary, was helpful and spot on with her advice.

    « Great location »

Typical Best Western - clean, affordable, decent breakfast. The location was great for all the touristy things we wanted to do in Savannah. Somewhat noisy but honestly it wasn't too bad during the night. By 7am the traffic and noise would increase. I didn't realize they charged 15 dollars to park. I'm not sure if the added cost is worth it versus other nearby hotels with free parking. Otherwise, I would stay here again.

    3
« Good location, but too noisy to sleep »

We had a room on the third floor at the front of the hotel and could hear street noise most of the night. Also, there was a wooden window shutter, but no curtain, so the outside light shined into our room all night. Maybe the rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter. The room itself was very adequate and clean and the A/C unit kept the room comfortable. We were here to see Savannah and the hotel location was great for walking to shopping, eateries and the historical sites.

    1
    « Don't Stay Here »

very noisy, all night you here the trucks going up and down the road. Do not stay in room 106 the door to the lobby slams every time someone goes in or out. Water on the walkway from the AC. Never got my wake up calls.

    5
    « Excellent Stay »

This was our first time visiting Savannah. The hotel was well located, clean, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast. Additional charge for parking of $15. No problem with wifi in the room. Would definitely stay there again.

    « Great location! »

We stayed two nights in a King room - the bed was great! Big bathroom - good shower - the small refrigerator was in the bathroom - which I thought was strange! The room was very spacious. Had plug-in on each lamp that made it easy to charge phones. Had a big selection for breakfast. Parking was limited in the front area where our room was - I guess that is why they charge for parking (which I think is ridiculous - that should be free with room rental). The location was really great for walking to Market Square & River Street. They have a trolley company that will come there to pick you up and bring you back if needed! Overall great value for your money! Will stay again if ever back in Savannah.

    « Pleasant »

We have never stayed at a Best Western and we were pleasantly surprised. Not knowing what to expect we were pleased to walk into a welcoming foyer and a most pleasant staff. The concierge was very helpful is setting us up for Trolley and Ghost tours. We would recommend this hotel.

    « Deceptive Rooms »

On arrival at our Hotel, it looked just like a Motel with the doors to each of the rooms straight outside. I have to be honest and thought that it didn't look very hospitable. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I went in. The rooms were very big and decorated to a high standard. The beds were exceptionally comfy. There was even an electric gizmo that I had not seen before that you plugged in and it gave off a noise to aid sleep. This was also the first time that I had come across table lamps with sockets in the base so that any charging of phones, tablets etc could be done without crawling along the floor to find a plug socket. The location was central to the Historic District and the waterfront which was easily within walking distance.

    « Robin's Weekend Getaway »

This motel is excellent, but the price has gotten to be too expensive. The rooms are clean, accessibility is great, location is excellent. They are pricing themselves out of customer loyalty. We stay here every time we come to Savannah, but if the prices go up any more, this will have been our last stay here.

« Don't be lured by the name. »

When we saw Best Western Plus, we expected more than we got. We have stayed at other Best Western Plus properties and have never been disappointed. Although the lobby was charming and clean, we were less than thrilled with the size and the amenities of the room. The beds were doubles and uncomfortable. We were told there were no queen beds on the property. The doors were all facing to the outside which made our stay noisy. Sirens and motorcycles all night. Considering the price of the room $270.00, we felt that we probably would have been more comfortable staying at one of the other hotels within a block or two that were also in the historic district. Additionally, we had to pay for parking and it was outside, next to the main street going through the historic district. Not the most secure. The breakfast was hot and good, the hotel staff was great and the concierge was extremely helpful, but it was way overpriced for what we got.

    3
« Great location for walking to historic district! »

Very pleasd with the location! Terrific breakfast buffet included! Concierge staff very knowledgeable and front desk staff friendly and efficient. Fitness center has enough to do cardio. The only complaint would be the noise level. Lots of traffic and sirens going by at night.

« The place to stay »

Not only were the staff friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to provide any information to make our stay better. The location of the Best Western (Savannah) was perfect. Close to everything - shopping, entertainment, historic district, great selection of restaurants.

« Pushy, Invasive Cleaning Staff »

Everything is nice about this hotel except the cleaning staff. I hate to rate the hotel service as bad because the desk staff are wonderful. However, the cleaning staff have entered my room every time I have stayed.

« Perfect location, amazing rooms, great people! »

This was our first time visiting this hotel, we were very impressed! Very clean rooms, smelled great when we opened the door. Beds were super comfy and plush, nice pillows and bedding. The continental breakfast was lovely, the breakfast hostess was nice and helpful. This hotel is located in Downtown Savannah, it is within walking distance to River Street, City Market, and many other attractions. I highly recommend this hotel, one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.

    5
« great price and location »

This is our second stay at this particular hotel for a reason. Its perfectly located and is one of the most reasonably priced for the historic district of Savannah. This was a last minute reservation after Hurricane Joaquin scrapped our previous plans made via a third party online. No issues checking in. The lady at the front desk on a Sunday could not have been more courteous or helpful. We were provided with tour information and some info on other attractions. She also called an checked on us about 10 minutes after we received our cards to our room. The rooms are of a fairly newer decor. My only concern when I stay at a hotel is a comfortable bed free of parasites, clean sheets, and no evidence of previous guests, hot shower, functional TV, mini fridge, and microwave. This had all those things. Almost never use the pool and I cannot confirm if this hotel even had a pool. Plenty of parking available. Complimentary breakfast was average with scrambled eggs, sausage, breads, etc. I would stay again and recommend this to others.

    4
« much better than it seemed from the outside »

Don't let the outside put you off The rooms and bathroom were spotless, a bit small but no too bad We had a room on the ground level which I normally hate for noise etc, but even though it is on a busy road it was pretty quiet at night, ask for a room at the back for a quieter stay The bed was super comfy It was a few minutes stroll to the water front and the historic district Free WiFi worked well and the room also had wolfgang puck coffee

    1
« Spend a little more for a better area »

There is a reason this place is cheaper than other places around it. They also charge for parking --- stayed one night and were charged for 2 days parking which is absurd. Awful location in a terrible area, just pick elsewhere. If they want to charge me for parking at least make the parking lot feel safe and do something about the absurd number of homeless people around the hotel.

« Best Western Plus Stay »

This was our first time staying at the Best Western Plus in Savannah Georgia. The hotel is located on W Bay Street, and is located in the historic section, we used our car only once and that was to go to dinner one night, otherwise we walked. Everything really is within walking distance, there is so much to do and see. The staff at the hotel were very very polite and always willing to help out in any way. Our room was very clean, it was located on second floor (street side) and the noise from the street subsided early evening and really was no bother, just alot of people having fun. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!!! Breakfast was simple and tasty and plentiful.

    3
« Good location for historic district »

Went to visit Savannah's historic district for the first time. Wanted to make sure to be near the action. The Best Western is located very close to the free shuttles that service the historic district so it was a good location. The good points - very friendly staff and the concierge, Mary was wonderful! Free breakfast and wi-fi are included in the stay. The location was great for access to the historic district as well as River Street, a very busy night place. The not so good points - being close to River Street, there was street noise to deal with. The room actually had a white noise machine to help, but we just kept the fan running on the a/c to block out noise. Being close to the river, there was the occasional ship horn to deal with. The rooms were not very modern and the service was erratic - one day, no shampoo, but 2 conditioners left. We drank coffee in the room. The next day, coffee was replenished, but no cups were left. If I were to visit again, I wouldn't rule out the Best Western, but I would explore other options as well.

    5
« Well situated and comfortable hotel »

The hotel is very close to the River Walk and therefore within walking district of all the sights. It is a large hotel which is very busy and fronts one of the main highways. It is probably best if you can get a room at the back as we did, but inevitably there can be some noise coming from late night revellers leaving the bars on the River Walk. There is of course a parking charge but I considered it to be reasonable for a big city. The breakfast room could be rather busy as the hotel also caters for coach parties. All in all I think this hotel is great value considering its situation.

« Trip to Savannah, Ga »

This hotel is central to just about everything in Savannah. It is one block up from the waterfront and shops on the famous River street. One block in the other direction to the marketplace shops and many restaurants. You can book all your tours at many locations throughout the city, including some at the hotels. This Best Western Plus has an excellent complimentary breakfast each morning with everything from waffles, cereal, sausage, eggs, all kinds of bread and pastries and of course juice and fresh fruit. Hot tea and coffee are available 24/7. There is parking on site for a small nightly charge. The front desk is available 24/7, fully staffed. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the house keeping staff very friendly. Overall, a pleasant stay.
