Best Western Sault Ste. Marie

DISAPPOINTING!!! It's difficult to get away anywhere when your partner has terminal 4 stage cancer, so we booked one night locally in what we thought would be a nice hotel. A queen room with a fireplace and sofa to snuggle up together. Our assigned room was missing a drawer. There also was a sweater left behind and stuck in the sofa bed between the cushion. There was no remote for the fireplace so it didn't work. I asked the very agreeable and understanding concierge to be switched to a similar room with a fireplace. They switched us to a room with a jacuzzi which we couldn't use because of my spouse's attached personal medical devices. There was no couch and the fireplace had missing parts so it wouldn't work either. Really? Why did you switch us to that room ?Couldn't management have checked the fireplace BEFORE we had to move everything?. Since nothing was unpacked, we asked immediately if we could move back to our original room. It at least had a couch so we could hold hands and sit together while we pretended the fireplace worked. We were told "Sorry". Can't do that. The hotel is full". Really? Our old room was gone in 5 minutes ? Poor management ruined what could have been one of our last special moments together. The discount on our bill for the "inconvenience" was irrelevant to us. This hotel should not be offering "rooms with fireplaces" if they aren't functional and surely housekeeping should be checking for missing furniture and items left behind. Who is managing this hotel??? I have up to now relied on the quality and reliability of Best Western. Never again in spite of the apologetic hotel staff.

This hotel is very comfortable. It's older and a bit worn, but it's comfortable and conveniently located. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. This is just a reasonably priced and comfortable place to stay with many amenities conveniently located nearbyl

I am beyond impressed with not only a spectacular group of people that are employed at This hotel. It's slim to non to have a perfect event go well or encounter different employees from different areas that literally all had the same response of how can I help you and a smile with it of gratitude for doing so. My daughter first baby shower wouldn't have received an applause without your help also . Truly impressed from the start with a Shiney bell. Thank you for putting many smiles on so many faces. The beds could've been better but overall I loved the room! Beds were very uncomfortable but pillows were amazing. Great location to everything! It was right by many stores that I love. Great location if you want to go to Canada. Staff was amazing and helpful in everything! Had no problems!

Seriously in need of an upgrade. I have been here for the last 4 years and this is my 5th winter. The hotel seems like nothing has been updated since the beginning. I have stayed in multiple rooms. 1st and second floor and they are getting worse with every year.

A great staycation hotel locating close to shopping & the bowling alley. We booked a holiday hotel stay to enjoy the pool. A very large pool with sauna & lounge space. We enjoyed all the pool time yet found what appeared to be non-guests / visitor passes made use loud at times with some unsupervised kids. Room was extra large, quiet with comfy beds. Breakfast buffet was also well stocked & something for all -

Received an upgrade to a suite as a prtiority member. Room very comfortable - TV a bit small. Fireplace in room - never seen that before!! Great breakfast - very helpful attendant.Friendly desk personal. Quiet!

No significant problems to report. The weather could have been a bit nicer, but no way for the hotel to fix that sort of thing I suppose. I mean they could install a dome over the city I suppose, but then the would need ALL the hotels to pitch in….

I stayed two nights. Hotel staff was very friendly and professional. Room was very clean. Temperature control was perfect, bed was very comfortable as were pillows. Very quiet stay. Excellent night's sleep and I don't usually sleep well on the road. Breakfast was delicious. I'm diabetic and lots of low carb choices. Coffee was good. I'd stay here again anytime.

Super kind and courteous staff, amazing breakfast and great location. We loved the location and the staff was very knowledgeable. It is close enough to downtown and activities, but far enough away to be peaceful. The room was huge, super amazing pool area and great guest services. We would stay again.

The room was very clean everything appeared in good shape. The bed was a little softer than we would prefer but we could tolerate that but the problem was how bad the both beds squeaked loudly whenever one would move. I have a hearing problem (aids in both ears) always remove my hearing aids when going to bed. I could hear the squeaking of the beds during the night without the aids. That was bad. : ( The breakfast was great clean and friendly help, lots of options something to please just about everybody If and went on my next visit I will check the condition of the beds before I check in. We like squeaky clean but not squeaky beds : )

The room was very comfortable, staff is very friendly and helpful. Is in a good location. Breakfast has many choices, like waffles, eggs, meat and also sweet rolls. We have stayed here before and planning on staying again.

So, before you enter the hotel you can smell pot (someone smoking it outside the lobby doors AND a strong odor of over-scented disinfectant. The lobby smells of disinfectant. It's spacious and uncluttered. Chevk in as friendly and we got a great restaurant recommendation (Lock View). The room was right down the hall. The room smelled of heavily scented disinfectant but also old perspiration and faintly of urine. Carpeting is stained in multiple places. Room is large with a sofa that sinks almost to the floor when you sit on it. Room has a refrigerator, Keirig coffee maker, desk and safe. Room darkening shades ANd blinds. I stayed at the Hampton inn last year and prefer it. This is ok for one night.

We returned to our room and found it in the same condition as we left it. No beds made, no emptied garbage, and no fresh towels. Maybe I'm old-school, but when I pay the peak hotel prices in the summer, I expect some good service. On the other hand, their full breakfast was amazing.

There were a few stains on carpet in our room. Most important the beds were clean and comfortable. Being a smoker we had a great location. Excellent breakfasts. Staff was amazing and so helpful. Will stay again.

The Sault Ste. Marie Best Western was reasonably priced, and though not right downtown to be centrally located, was off the loop to allow for easy access off the highway and a quiet foot traffic. The staff was kind and personable, helping us feel welcomed. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was hot and fresh. Overall, we would reccomend this location if staying in Sault Ste. Marie and would definitely return if ever in the area again.

Several years ago my mom got a compression fracture in the handicap bathroom. The bar in the bathroom was slippery. They took a report but the manager refused to check out the slippery bar when I tried to show her. The next morning the manager and report were nowhere to be found. I asked for something to put ice in and they wouldn't do anything. I finally found a pharmacy and bought a couple of ice packs for her. Fortunately I had an extra cane in the car and she barely made it. For over a year I tried calling and the manager was nowhere to be found and never returned my call. I finally got someone from corporate to talk to me and they finally took a deposition. At the end of the call they suggested I contact a lawyer. Small town, tight group so nobody would help me. I was finally told by corporate that it was to long from the injury and they weren't responsible. She didn't want to go to the hospital and end up stranded so far from home. I took her to a hospital at home and she couldn't walk for months. I finally decided the truth should be known. I don't want someone else getting hurt in case they didn't fix the room yet.

Good location. Several restaurants in immediate area. Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable. Very friendly staff at reception & throughout the hotel. Breakfast provided included scrambled eggs one morning & biscuits & sausage/gravy following day. Waffles, brkfast cereal, etc. Well stocked, even on busy morning.

We stayed for two nights to see my daughter at LSSU and to go to the I500. The room was clean breakfast was normal hotel stuff bagels cereal waffles sausage and biscuits eggs and sausage etc coffee juices muffins

As usual, the BW in SSM never lets me down. Had a great swim in the pool and relaxed in the sauna. Perfect for the first snow-fall blues! Followed it all up with a great breakfast the next day! Couldn't ask for anything more!

The hotel staff was professional, efficient, very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and everything was good working order. The breakfast buffet was very good-Many options to choose from. Great location also.

Stayed for three October evenings, Stayed in an accessible room. It was large with a great shower. Powerful. Beds were medium firm. Room was clean. The hotel is starting to show its age. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would stay again and recommend to friends and family.

As stated, the rooms are clean, the food is hot and tasty, the employees are friendly and don't seem over-worked, and people that stay here are by in large, decent people. Having the opportunity to stay at several hotels, modernized chains seem to attract people that seem a little too full of themselves.

Convenient place to stay while visiting the Soo. The staff is very nice and the rooms, along with the breakfast, are a good value for the price. If you are sensitive to light in your room at night, beware. The blinds weren't ever working the three times I've stayed there and the lightweight curtain doesn't block out the parking lot lights.

Second time the Best Western when I checked in someone was already in my room at least this time they weren't smoking pot in the room? No compensation offered just a bunch of I don't know how this happened? Filled out the survey on how we can do better! Joke your a huge chain nothing is going to happen!!

Can't beat this hotel for the price. It is located a short distance from downtown Sault Ste Marie. The service was excellent and front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and the pillows were quite comfortable!

This was my first time staying in this Best Western hotel. Like other Best Western hotels staff was friendly and helpful, the premises were clean, and everything was in working order. I look forward to staying there again.

A very nice hotel that met all of our needs. Good security friendly staff, clean room, and good breakfast. Located conveniently near Interstate75 and just a short drive to the Soo locks and downtown Sault Sainte Marie.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast had a lot of things to choose from and they kept everything filled. Our room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. We had a microwave and refrigerator in the room which was nice. We will stay here again when we are in the area.

This hotel deserves the 4 stars just because of their impecable customer service. We stayed there August 17-21/2022. We only had one issue there which was 1 uncomfortable bed, we were moved promptly, when we informed the front desk. From the front desk staff, manager, breakfast staff, and housekeepers, everyone was friendly and helpful. Our housekeeper Dominic was FANTASTIC! The rooms are clean and efficient with a safe, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, and mini fridge. The rooms are a good size. The pool is big and the sauna is pleasant! The breakfast is from 0600-1000 and they do a great job! You have warm eggs, breakfast meats, waffles, cereals, juices, a little coffee bar, yogurts, pastries/breads, and oatmeal. The great thing is there isn't someone in the breakfast area watching everyone like a hawk like in other hotels I've stayed in. Also..their staff can come in and get food at their convenience, which I found refreshing and nice! Overall extremely pleased with this place! Their military/veteran discounts are good but in general I felt the rates were good overall. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because animals are not allowed. I have a ESA/dog and he usually goes everywhere with me but couldn't for this trip because of no animals allowed. So for future trips, when my dog comes along, we will have to stay elsewhere. For the people that have rated this hotel a 4 or 5…I have no idea where you may have stayed before or what your standards are. We checked in, went to our room and noticed a terrible musty odour immediately. Room felt damp. Slipped my foot out of my sandal and touched carpet - it was soaking wet. Went back to the front desk to advise. The front desk clerk apologized and worked on finding me another room. When the other individual behind the desk asked what room we were in, when it was noted as 1115, the nodded to each other as though they were aware of this room having issues. Next room we went to had a stale cigarette smell to it. The rooms are so outdated and run down. They are in need of a serious overhaul and refresh. Hallways are so dark. Hotel looks nice from outside and front lobby are is very nice (that's how they get you). Staff was kind and polite and the breakfast was decent. But we couldn't wait to leave the next day. Wouldn't stay here again.

The room was so clean. Fresh towels. The bed was comfortable. Love that a plug was readily available next to bed. Air conditioner was nice during our stay. Coffee and tea were right in our room. Loved that the had shampoo and soaps right in room in case you forgot to pack.

Hotel was clean, comfortable beds, and fantastic breakfast. The pool and other property areas clean. The staff, just awesome! I booked the wrong nights and they made it right and saved us from having to hunt down another hotel or potentially sleep in my car. Will be my go to hotel when staying in the area.

B.y.o.p. Bring your own plunger. Room cleaned once in 5 days just empty garbage cans they were out of bed linens and towels did not get towels till 8:00 p.m. always extremely dark and dated as are the rooms. Usually have good luck at Best Westerns but this is not good we'll be calling corporate. Gamecare because I seen several good reviews for the most part. Should have paid attention to the bad ones. If you stay here I wish you good luck I will look elsewhere with not recommend at all.

This hotel is in a good location and close to several stores and eateries. The building shows some age and the mattresses were old style mattresses. However, our room was so clean and the bed ended up sleeping well after all. Our tub/shower was so clean that it was shiny. Breakfast was good and we left feeling glad we chose this hotel. I would give this hotel my recommendation for other travelers in the Sault Ste. Marie area and would stay again if I were to be in the area again.

We loved our stay and would go back if in the area again. Nice clerk at the desk, friendly people working there, and clean rooms, and close to the Soo locks if that is on your Bucket List. There was breakfast and coffee readily available.

We have stayed here every time we travel to Sault Ste Marie. We will probably stay here again in the future. The staff is outstanding! Service is wonderful and breakfast is very good! Since last year, we have noticed small items usually associated with hotel aging. Our door lock did not work. The room was in need of some painting touch ups. Overall though, the room was very clean and comfortable. This is a consistently good hotel in the area.

Great location with easy access. The rooms were very clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. The breakfast had a good selection and tasted good. I would recommend this hotel to others if they were traveling in the area. The parking lot was well lighted and convenient. It is close to the Canadian border if you are heading there.

We have stayed many times at this BW usually for one night only on our way to Canada and back to the U.S. It is consistently well-maintained and has staff that have been there for a long time who are friendly and welcoming.

Check in was easy but then as we walked along the corners we found the hallways to be very dark even in the middle of the day. Our room was clean and comfortable and spacious with the exception of the bathroom. The bathroom was very dated and had an old Jacuzzi tub that had seen better days. The tub was very deep and they were no handlebars to help you get in and out of the tub. The hotel was not busy when we were there and staff, with the exception of one person, seemed oblivious to the fact that we were guests.

The hotel was clean, breakfast was delicious and staff was friendly! What more could you ask for. Our room was comfortable, lots of pillows and when we request extra towels (3 females in the room) we had them in minutes!

The hotel lobby and breakfast area have recently been renovated. They are beautiful. Super friendly staff. Hotel located in good area convenient to everything in the Soo. Big rooms. Comfy beds. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Rooms are a bit outdated but not horrible. Overhead staff talking about addition remodeling so my guess is the rooms are next. Overall great experience.

I've stayed at the BW in Sault Ste. Marie multiple times the last year. Rooms are always clean and staff always friendly. The breakfast is a great amenity too! Love grabbing a quick bite to eat before starting my day.

Josh was very helpful with flight and airline information during a terrible winter storm and lodging adjustment/information during an emergency crew adjustment. Breakfast was alway ready by 6 which was very important to our staff.

Great accommodations, great value. Staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Facility was very clean and seen staff cleaning through out the day. "Hot breakfast" was good for that type of setup. Will return next time I'm in Sault Ste Marie.

This place has a fantastic staff that does an outstanding job! The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the people working the desk and breakfast were very friendly and helpful. This was the second time I've stayed here and I'd definitely stay here again!

The hotel staff was very friendly. The pool was nice, the breakfast was fantastic. When we couldn't turn on our fireplace, the front desk guy came right down and found the switch for us. Great bed and great pillows.

Real nice stay at this property. The check-in clerk was so very nice & welcoming, made us feel comfortable right away! Greeted us as soon as we walked in even though she was checking in another guest (who was snotty). Property is very clean! Our room was so comfy & quiet! Room was quite large which was a pleasant surprise. The only real negative for the room was the shower head, pressure was great but the head was not the usual Best Western massaging head with many options. Breakfast was amazing! Food was tasty & variety was fantastic! First morning there was corned beef hash WOW & it was yummy! The seating area is nice with all the windows. Too bad the only scenery is the busy road but that could not be helped. Really good stay! Will definitely visit agaon!

We had been driving in a rainstorm and exhausted. i called the hotel from my phone, they had ONE room left. The woman took pity and reserved the room for us without making me read my credit card number. The hotel is clean, the room was really comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. The room had a coffee maker with choice of coffee blends. And they served a full breakfast, I intend to stay here again soon.

This hotel was clean and beds were comfortable. I would recommend it. Easy check in, easy to find and many restaurants nearby. Shopping across the street included TJ Max and Meijer. Overall, it was a great experience.

We really enjoyed staying here. It was the perfect location and very quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and kind. Our room was very clean and the bed was Super comfy! We enjoyed the delicious breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel if you plan on staying in this area.

I am a clean freak. I clean tub, sink, toilet and coffee pot but found theirs were very clean. The bedding was soft and clean so I didn't have to use mine. If I'm in the area again I will for sure stay here again! I've been in 7 hotels in the past 6 months and this one is the cleanest yet! It was well insulated too, I didn't hear any noises from other people.

We had a great stay, internet was lousy but the rest was great. The young man at the check in was really friendly, helpful and seemed to genuinely care.The bed was comfortable, room was nice and clean. The breakfast was really good, with many options. Sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, corned beef hash and more.

Very friendly staff, room was decent. This was not our destination spot but the availability and the price for the room was better than the Mackinaw City price. We enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately the pool was closed for our stay but we didn't need it. I am mentioning it because some other guests were bummed about it. Overall a good place to stay.

everything was great. they were back to full breakfast which we enjoyed with precautions. the room was clean and comfortable. the staff was very friendly and helpful. even though they couldn't clean the rooms we were given everything we needed.

It is pretty conveniently located near the highway. A few mile from the Soo locks ferry and Kewadin Casino. The parking is a bit limited it seems as the hotel shares space with another hotel on the opposite side of the parking lot. The lobby looks like a Hunter's lodge with high ceiling and a fire place. Reception was efficient and I was assigned a clean room with fresh bed linens. The pool is large enough and you can sit outside on a warm summer night. Mainly, I used this hotel for access to the Soo locks boat tour and night entertainment at the Kewadin Casino.

We rented adjoining rooms. One room was fine, clean with no issues. Our king room smelled musty when we arrived so we turned on the AC unit and sprayed lysol, thinking it was just from the humid rainy weather, and the room needing fresh air. But that night the smell was strong and moldy. We found peeling wallpaper next to the AC unit on the outside wall and evidence of water damage at the hem of the drapes. The bathroom was clean and smelled fine, the odor was strong around the window/ac unit/ bed area which was towards the outside wall. The smell woke us up all night. We discussed this with the night manager early the next morning and front desk associate. We were told maintainence would check it. When we arrived back that evening, the evening desk associate didn't know what was done. We found coffee packets in the ac unit vents and the room smelled like moldy coffee. We asked for the filters to be checked and an ozone machine. She cleaned our filters. It was offered to move us but we needed two adjoining rooms as we had our kids with us and there were none left. That night it was a bit better but the next day it rained and the third night was horrible. The smell was so bad we couldn't sleep. If it wasn't for out kids we would have left during the night. We told the front desk in the morning that there is obviously a mold problem in the room and they need to investigate before putting anyone else in the room. I can't imagine that this smell is a new thing. The hotel overall was OK and would have been fine if not for our room smell. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the lobby and breakfast room were clean. The breakfast buffet was very nice with a lot of choices and the staff was pleasant. The hallways are strangely dark as is the pool area. The water looked dingy because of it and the pool is really cold. This is not the fault of the hotel but we were surprised that there are few restaurants to chose from. The only one open for dinner when we arrived on Monday was Applebee's and it was short staffed. The rest of our week we found some of the fast food restaurants are closed due to no staff and some restaurants close early.The soo locks were amazing and the boat rode through it was fun. The downtown area around the locks was fun to explore with a lot of shops, ice cream and fudge. There are some restaurants there, but you want to check the hours. All Would have been great if not for the unbearable mold smell in our room.

clean and friendly place! chairs (plural) in room for relaxing were much appreciated since someone usually ends up sitting on a bed to watch TV or read. although you can't walk to town from here, it didn't really matter to us as it was like "coming home" to a quiet place after a busy day; we were here for three nights and would stay here again! it is convenient to the Interstate, the Eastern UP, and downtown Sault Ste. Marie

This Best Western was very clean and decor was pleasant to the eye. The express check in was simple and convenient. The breakfast was extremely tasty, wide variety of items and clean. The hotel was in a good area and easy to access. The value was worth it. We would definitely stay again. Actually this was our 2nd visit. The beds were comfortable and bathroom good size with needed items.

We are Best Western Rewards members so we try to stay at a BW when we can. The check-in was easy and quick. We had a room on the 3rd floor and it was nice and quiet. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. The room had a fridge and microwave. Room and bathroom was clean and we got a good night's sleep. This place fills up in the summer months, so book early and in advance. They offer a full breakfast.

Hotel was the best experience I have ever stayed with . Will refer all people to Best Western always .This is second time I have stayed at this location and I brought 2 other couples with me this occurence

Everything about this place was great....the location is good, (unless you want to be right by the tourist area by the locks)....rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff goes above and beyond to care about the customers. Even in the covid era of restrictions, they did not use it as an excuse and have found a way to provide a very good breakfast. We have been traveling as much as possible since the covid restrictions have allowed, and this has been the best stay so yet. Thanks.

The staff is very attentive, always willing to help out, and very friendly! 10/10 would come back again Every time I needed help with something the manager on duty would help me, they are very kind, and i have never had an experience so good!

The Room is rather dated with wallpaper and a musty smell. Contrary to the website posting the pool is open. The halls are dark possibly due to the type of light bulbs chosen but also done that way to disguise the old dirty carpet. The mattress was too soft. There was a heater in the hallway that had caught on fire. There was a plate directly above your head in the shower, where the paint was peeling. Wouldn't recommend. Overall an average stay.

First time staying in the Sault . Had a friend in hospice we visited . Good location , gas, food are all close by , is right off the expressway . Staff very friendly , easy check in and check out . Staff bagged the breakfast you picked out due to covid restrictions .

Clean, reasonable, & convenient location. We only stayed for 1 night, but the room & amenities were satisfactory. We would definitely stay at this location again. The front desk accommodated a last minute change that we had to make with regard to the number of people staying in our room. To our surprise they set us up in a room that was able to fit our party and the cost was the same.

Adam was the best! One of the best hotels I've stayed in. The staff was great, room was very clean. The breakfast was good. But the staff is what really sets this hotel apart from the other places to stay, they were the best!

The property is getting ready for some updates, but the BW in Sault St.e Marie is a great place to stay. Many places to eat and shop within sight of the hotel and just a few yards off of the highway (we did not notice any highway noise at night). The staff is super-friendly and they serve a great breakfast-in-a-bag, better than other places we've stayed recently.

It's a good hotel with nice and helpful personnel. Due to the covid pandemic breakfast was prepacked and distributed by the front desk, which we had to pay extra for. In which we declined. The selection of items is a weak point. Other than that it's a good place for one-two nights. The rooms were clean but lacking a coffee maker, paper & pen. For a BW Premier Hotel and price ... You would think this stuff would be included.

We had a very good stay. everything was a little different with the pandemic going around. the front desk and housekeeping staff was great. we had a grab and go breakfast which was fine under the circumstances. the room was very nice.

Very disappointed on how dirty the floors were in my hotel room. Every time my family and I took a shower, we had black dirt coming off the bottom of our feet. And is just from walking from the bed to bathroom.

We are very happy with our stay at this hotel.Very clean and the beds were comfortable. Good sized room with a microwave and mini refrigerator. Also a Keurig machine with coffee and tea. Bathroom was a good size with nice amenities. They served a bag breakfast with items that you picked the night before. A very good selection to pick from. The staff was excellent! Would recommend as would my cat Snorty McPoof, which stayed home to guard his food from the other cats.

I've stayed at this hotel several times over the last 2-3 years and I would recommend it. Now with Covid19, you have to wear a mask in all public places of the hotel. The pool and fitness center are closed. If you want ice, you have to ask for it at the front desk. I stayed 2 nights and no maid service on day 2. The front desk told me no one will enter my room during my stay so if I need anything, I should ask the front desk. The breakfast area is also closed. When you check in, you will get a slip of paper that has all the breakfast choices on it. Fill it out and return it to the front desk the night before. The next morning you can go to the front desk to pick up your breakfast (in a brown bag) after 6:00am and take it back to your room. Use the microwave in the room to heat up your sandwich. The room itself was clean including the bathroom. All the lights worked. The AC worked very well. Internet connection worked well too. Room included microwave and small refrigerator. Hotel is near gas stations and restaurants. Tourist attractions (like the Soo Locks and shopping) are about 2-3 easy miles away. I love Sault Ste Marie, MI, and I like staying at this hotel when I visit.

While this Best Western has a bit of an older feel, the rooms were very clean. The AC worked well and there's a heat lamp (!) in the bathrooms. The double queen rooms are fairly spacious, with a desk and deep drawer dresser. Breakfast is served via order at this time, with guests being able to choose one item per category out of your typical a la carte breakfast list, including breakfast sandwiches. Any public areas or amenities, like the ice maker, are currently off limits due to health precautions For under $100 a night we felt it was well worth it.

When we arrived late Thursday evening, the rooms were ice cold. The air conditioning was set at 54 degrees and on high. It was like walking in the deep freeze. Then we turned it down in our room and it never worked again. We called when we got back to the room on Friday and a person came up and said it would work, but it didn't and it was extremely hot in the room all night.

I found that all personnel whom I encountered to be helpful, alert, and very pleasant. Check- in was easy. Express check-out simplified the departure. The bill matched what was explained at check-in. Parking was convenient with plenty of room.

I stayed here for the second time in the past 3 months. I am a usual visitor of the HI Express in Sault Sainte Marie, but have ventured to stay here based on location, cost, and cleanliness. The lady at the front counter was very helpful, polite, and efficient. The room was very clean, and tidy (although a little outdated...see pictures). The bed was very comfortable, and the room was very clean, as was the bathroom. Doing some research, I discovered that this hotel is owned by the same person that owns the HI Express in town, and I would rank this as a “cleaner” hotel, albeit outdated a little. All in all, this is above average for the area and would likely stay here again.

We had looked at other reviews before we booked the room. We were pleased that it lived up to the remarks. Friendly staff, clean building. My husband used the pool. The sauna was not functioning while we were there and there was no hot tub (not deal breakers for me). We went for a business meeting but also caught up with family while there.

Stayed here for 2 nights on the weekend following Thanksgiving. We were very impressed with the size of our room. Having the 2 tub chairs with footstools was a big bonus and made relaxing very easy. The breakfast was excellent. Having a choice of turkey sausage and reg. sausage patties was an added bonus. The friendly, helpful staff was very impressive. Definitely will be back!

Whenever we visit the area this is our first choice for accomodations. Easy access off of I-75. Warm & welcoming lobby & staff. Comfortable room. Great breakfast. Nice pool and workout room. Great value. What more could a traveler want!?!

We spent one night here during our visit to the Upper Peninsula. Our guest room was clean and very quiet. The king bed was comfortable. There were two occasional chairs in the room. The Wi-Fi in the room worked well. The lobby is large. The rooms are a little dated. The hotel has a nice breakfast room with a good selection of hot and cold items. The room rate was reasonable.

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. We were very satisfied with everything about the stay. Staff was very friendly, polite and helpful and the room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities needed.

We ended up here in a whim and were pleasantly surprised. Fantastic staff, beautiful lobby, clean rooms and amazing breakfast and free casino shuttle for under $100.00. Will definitely stay here again, especially for casino venues. (The casino hotels allow smoking in their properties and the last time we stayed there, had to leave at 4am due to cigarette smoke. )

The hotel was clean and affordable. The rooms were a little dated but clean and well taken care of. The staff is friendly and willing to go the extra mile to please their guests. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

A little bit out of town, but close enough since we were also heading west for part of the trip. Nice to have a second sink outside the bathroom, but there was no mirror since it was kind of set up as a mini-kitchen. Friendly desk person, decent breakfast.

Our room 2120 was quiet, dark, spacious, with comfortable beds and a great shower. The heater/AC unit was very quiet and we heard no noise from the hallway or adjoining rooms. The room was dark - very few electronic lights in the sleeping area, good window shades, and dim lights in the corridors which meant no annoying light seepage through the door gaps. Breakfast had a wide selection of hot and cold foods and included herbal tea! The breakfast room and common area was the nicest we've had and the staff was friendly and efficient. Will definitely come back to this hotel again.

Rooms were very spacious clean and comfortable. The breakfast was also great. The location of the hotel is superb a few minutes was to the river boardwalk. However there was smell in the washbasin. Not sure the reason of the same. Management needs to check this out.

The property is very nice. It does need updating, but very comfortable overall. The staff is very friendly, and help with finding things to do. Very helpful in finding a place to eat. The breadfst buffet was fresh and very good.

Stayed at this Best Western while on a motorcycle tour of the UP. I found the room clean and comfortable. Price was reasonable for an older facility. Staff was courteous and helpful. Would stay there again.

We had a really nice visit. Room was really quiet, not a lot of noise from the hall or upstairs. We had planned for a late check-in and it was very accommodating. The breakfast bar had a large selection to choice from. Best Western will our choice for our next vacation.

The stay was great the clerk that checked us in was so helpful i am a platnium member she she upgraded our room it had a Jacuzzi. The breakfast was very good sp much to pick from . Thr room was super clean.

The staff was helpful, the beds were good and the breakfast was very good. The room was also a nice size. The only thing that people should know is this hotel is close to the highway and not near the downtown. That means you need to drive to the locks. The town is small so it is not very far from the river, but it is not on the river. It is centrally located to LSSU, the casinos, driving over to Canada and driving downtown. That was good for our purposes. The price was a little high, but we were there during the peak of tourist season. They have to make their money when they can.

This was the fifth hotel we've stayed in this summer, due to leisure and business, and it was by far the worst. My wife found a long black hair in the bathroom sink as well as in one of the towels. The furniture in the room looks like it is from the 1970's, as well as the green carpeting. The room had a musty smell to it and the AC unit had a bad fan motor that made a lot of noise. The pool was a nice size, but the water looked fairly cloudy (dirty). On the bright side, the hot/cold breakfast was very good with many options. Next time we go to the Soo, I would pay a little extra and stay at a different hotel.

Wonderful experience, we stay here every time we visit Sault Ste Marie. The staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to assist whenever required. We would definitely recommend this location when you are looking for a great hotel.

We stayed here as we spent time in town, seeing the locks and continuing over the border. It was a fine place to stay, but could use some minor refreshing. The service was helpful and friendly, and breakfast was good. We used the laundry and found it to be a better value than other stops earlier.

Location was good. Close to all of the areas we wanted to visit. Took the boat tour and got to go through the locks! Downtown area was very walkable and lots of eat and shop options. Concert in park was a nice surprise. Watched large vessel go through locks. Good viewing area.

We stayed at this location 2 years ago, and it's still a good hotel. :) There is a Wal-Mart and Meijer nearby, although stores in shopping center across the street have many vacancies. Breakfast was good, today we had mini omelettes (egg patties with cheese and folded over) and biscuits and sausage gravy. Coffee is available 24/7. It's not located right where the downtown activities are, but it's close to the highway.

We chose to stay slightly outside of town and glad we did. This was easy to find (in spite of road construction right outside!). The man at the front desk gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner at a local restaurant that was close by. They served a good breakfast and then it was an easy drive to the locks for our morning tour.

Rooms are great and comfortable,lacks large fridge,Tvs are smaller than in most Bests. Been to all other hotels in the area and this is the best. Breakfast is basic but good.. The pool needs tending but ok for a quick swim

Really liked this Best Western. The room was nice, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The place is very reasonable and conveniently located. The service was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was typical hot/cold hotel breakfast buffet. Not good but not bad but adequate, and at least you don't have to go find somewhere to eat in the morning. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this Best Western as my friend had points. We were traveling by motorcycles and he was helpful in recommending food places and things to see on the next leg of our trip. He welcomed us with a smile. Most definitely would recommend.

1st floor 2 Queen room was fairly clean but dated. Chair upholstery worn. AC unit noisy. Scratchy stiff towels. And then there was the micro/refrig/coffee unit. Really Best Western?! Did you run out of money??

We appreciate the friendliness of the front desk. They let us in our room early and are very warm and helpful with any questions we had. They actually seemed happy to see us, and not the fakey smiles we have seen at other places. The crew at the Soo ROCK! Now as far as the room goes, the only concern I had was I could hear the person snoring next store. This bothered me because if I could hear them snoring then other people could hear me! They sounded like a loud snorer though. Of course this is something the hotel is not responsible for. Overall we had a very good stay.

Great hotel and the front desk staff were so very pleasant and we dealt mainly with Joanne and she was so nice . The room was very clean and the breakfast was perfect. The area had plenty of Restraunt's and a mall right across the road.

The room was clean and spacious and included a fireplace. The room had a fire place. My credit card did not work when i checked-in but the staff was very accommodating. The location is good. Its 15 minutes from the US-Canada border. The hotel did a poor job in clearing snow from the parking lot after a snow storm. The guests had to shovel-out their vehicle on their own .

I reserved a suite for me and my partner for the night. We were very excited that it had a jacuzzi and a fire place. Unfortunately, there was hair in the jacuzzi and the fire place did not work. Other than that, our stay was fine.

I am from Michigan and my wife and I are both diehard Wolverines. We travel back to Michigan every year, usually with our grandsons. We always visit the Soo Locks and stay here. It is a nice hotel. Best Western properties are uniform and dependable.

The best in the Soo. A little expensive but worth the extra bucks. Stayed there three nights and each breakfast menu was a little different. Food was fresh and well stocked. The pool is nice and the facility in general is very nice.

Overall my stay at this Best Western was good. This was our second stay at this location. The staff is friendly and the location to I-75 was excellent. If the construction wasn't so bad this stay would have been exactly what I would expect. It was difficult by Google Maps to get around the construction to get to the Motel.

This hotel is nice and it's clean but the walls are VERY thin. We heard our neighbors talking and also heard their water (shower) running. We had a 1st floor room so if the guests in the room above us dropped something, we heard it. The fan in the bathroom was very loud and there was since there was no bath mat, we laid a towel on the floor to step on after showering. Breakfast was good and staff was very friendly.

Front desk staff recognized us as loyalty club members and gave us a better room at a discounted rate. Very professional, efficient,, friendly and offered great recommendations for local restaurants. Very clean hotel with modern decor, better than average breakfast area and coffee 'bar'. Did not use pool facilities but they looked clean. My family stayed at the Sault Sainte Marie as a launch point. To walk over the makanac bridge walk. The hotel was nice the staff helped set up a dinner at a local restaurant for twelve people it was awesome the wicked sister was the name of the Resteraunt the hotel had breakfast but we left at five in the morning for the walk. Nice room great bathroom. If I was ever to go to the same area this is the hotel to stay at

We were on our way back from a program in Quebec and needed to stop for the night. We did not have a reservation but decided that a Best Western was the place to stay. It was a very clean room, and excellent staff as well as a great hot breakfast to send us on our way the next day.

This was a fine stay, as the case in other Best Western Hotels; The room and bathroom were very clean; beds good with choice of pillows; new carpet. Enjoyed a swim in their very nice pool; breakfast good.

Our family stayed two nights in 2 separate rooms. No problems or issues in either room. Our bed was very comfortable and we all slept well. We didn't have time for the pool, but it looked inviting with plenty of room and chairs around it. Good size pool and the temperature felt fine. THe workout room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good with about 15 different food options from cold cereal to hot waffles and eggs. The staff was very friendly and engaging every time we walked in the door. They also have a veteran room rate that is outstanding. I would recommend this hotel.

the pool was pretty good size and very clean. there was a sauna available to use. the locker and shower area was very clean. the breakfast offered quite a variety and was very good. for an older establishment this is a very well kept facility. we enjoyed our stay.

By all appearances this is your typical budget hotel with a COLD pool and decent hot breakfast options. The lobby, pool area, and our room were clean and well maintained. It isn't the best, or worst, place I've ever stayed at. HOWEVER! We unintentionally discovered that this hotel contains the HOLY GRAIL of hotel rooms for parents of young (loud) kids - we had a room that was not directly above, beneath, across from, or beside any other rooms! Plus, it was HUGE! So if you're a parent of a child who can't control the VOLUME OF THEIR VOICE, or who walks as delicately as a T-rex in search of a tasty lawyer snack, seek out room 2127. I haven't been able to relax as much in a hotel in a LONG time. Every other hotel room from now on will be epic disappointments.

Would recommend this hotel. Close to the locks and casino. Clean, friendly and it seemed like a hard working staff (hell, one employee was even sweating and mentioned how he already had 15,000 steps that day). Internet was very slow but I was only there for a handful of hours and I forgot to report on it. The pool seemed a little dirty at 6 am but I saw that by 7 am they had already closed the area for a pool cleaning (I didn't have to say anything). Very good stay.

Great hotel at a great price. The room was spacious and comfortable. There is a nice indoor pool area that is open 24 hours. The breakfast area has plenty of seating. The lobby is decorated very nicely and roomy. There is coffee and tea available 24-7.

We were in room 1124, first floor near the pool. This is a handicap accessible room, with a roll-in shower and shower seat. It was a nice big room with standard amenities. The bed was super comfortable. There were two nice chairs with ottomans, plus a table and office chair. There was a fridge and microwave. The room decor needs updating (the wallpaper was bubbling off the wall in several places). Maybe it's what to expect from the U.P., but wifi log in was a little tricky. The desk staff were very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast had those egg and cheese omelets instead of sausage and scrambled eggs.

We were in the area to visit Lake Superior State University. The hotel was conveniently located to the school. Hotel staff was very friendly and gave us an excellent referral to a dinner location. Check in and check out were easy. The rooms, although a bit dated, were extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Despite all of the highway construction outside this hotel we found it a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. The staff was friendly and helped us find our way to the Sault Locks tours downtown. Our room was large and we enjoyed having the refrigerator to hold our food on this hot weekend.

Very clean. Comfortable beds. Right off from I-75. Might not be right downtown but, you can get in and drive to all the restaurants and sites. This is a good point to hop on the highway and go across the International bridge into Canada

Staff was very friendly and helpful.. Room still smelled like smokers had been in there. Towels and wash clothes smelled like smoke. Food was good, no snacks only coffee.. Paid way to much to stay there, could of stayed at the comforter Inn across the street for $30.00 less a night.. We stayed for 3 night.

Fast check in and lots of useful information given by receptionist. Room was large and very clean, bed was really comfortable. Free tea and coffee always available next to breakfast room. Good selection at breakfast.

Usually a first night we don't sleep well but we both did on our two night stay. The bed wasn't too hard or too soft. We had a King room with a fireplace and a jacuzzi. A safety assist bar for getting in and out of the jacuzzi would have been helpful. The room has a mini fridge with a wet bar and coffee maker. The room was large and a perfect get away for our anniversary. Staff was friendly and very patient helping me get on the wi-fi. Instructions in the room for access with Apple devices was incomplete. As others mention, breakfast is a great way to start the day and the young lady providing it kept a close eye on keeping everything full without overfilling so it was fresh. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and a man working housekeeping was very pleasant. Best Westerns can be spotty depending on the operator. This is the best, Best Western.

This is a beautiful Best Western, check in was easy. The lobby was very pretty. The hotel staffer did notice that I was a rewards member. Our room was on the first floor and just as nice as the lobby. Very clean and ready for us to occupy. There was also a safe in our room. This Best Western is close to the Soo Locks. The breakfast in the morning was hot and delicious. There was a wide variety of items for our eating pleasure. We used the express checkout. But we still stopped by the desk to let Carlotta know how pleasant our stay was. Everything was perfect at this Best Western. Many Thanks.

Visited for one evening. Greeted by two gals that make you feel welcome. It was quick and easy to register and bring in the suitcases. On the first of two floors. It is on the main drag, but quiet. There is a big pool and sauna. It offers breakfast too......ok....same as always. Check out easy too. I usually choose BW. I know what to expect and the price is reasonable.

I was on a trip and stayed here for one night. I did not have a reservation, but the clerk had me checked into a wonderful suite and enrolled in the BW rewards program in less than 5 minutes. I was then off to relax, and breakfast in the morning was great with some hot items as well. Definite return business here!

This was my first time at this hotel and I was definitely impressed with everything. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. Our room was big and spacious and clean. We paid a fair price here. The hotel is easily accessible from I-75 at Exit 392. It's 2 exits from the border and about a 10 minute drive to Canada. We will definitely stay here again

Positives: Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, quiet air handling units, friendly staff. Areas in need of improvement: wallpaper is peeling, wooden molding used around shower!? Renovation occurring around the property, decor is 1980s, analog thermostat, place is showing its age.

We selected the Best Western for a kind of spur of the moment get away night. The room was clean and quiet. We had a second floor room with 2 double beds which felt a little crowded. Would have preferred a king size bed rpm but that costed more. Breakfast was typical but I did appreciate the Canadian bacon. Would definitely stay there again. If I could have given them a 4 1/2 I would have.

After a long day of driving, stopped before crossing the border into Canada. Front desk lady was very friendly and patient and informative. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast had everything you would like. Definitely a place I would return to when I am in the area.

Of all the hotels in the area, this is our preferred place to stay. It is very nice and for the price with breakfast included it really its the mark. Breakfast is hearty, not a continental. Lots of choices.

We stay here every year when we fly out for our Disney trip, it's our favorite in Sault Michigan as we have stayed at others there. The staff is always friendly, and they even get us coffee if we leave at 4 am. Sometimes flights at CIU are early. The sauna is my favorite ammenety.

Everything that I needed for a business trip to the Soo. My room was no frills but clean with a comfortable bed and quiet surroundings. The workout room is simple but clean with cardio options. The complimentary breakfast was especially good with a lot of hot and cold options. Staff were all incredibly responsive and polite.

Good value clean and comfortable room and great staff. The lobby was being revamped when we were there and it is sooo very comfy! The breakfast was by far the best weve had in years. The location is ideal and good restaurants are nearby.

I was looking for a nice place to stay for a reasonable price. My handicap room was clean and handicap friendly. Kevin was very helpful with my reservation and made checking in fast. The morning breakfast had very good hot and cold food that tasted excellent. They had plenty of fresh fruit too!

Nice clean and quiet hotel with WIFI. Nothing special - close to the border. Very nice gentlemen at the check-in desk: joking with travelers, making us feel comfortable even though we were waiting in line for 10 minutes or so. Breakfast - avoid the cheese omelet. It was rubber.

Love that the Best Western offers great rates for Lake Superior State families. Best value for the money! There are quite a few hotels in the area. We will be in the area a lot over the next 4 years, will definitely be back!

We stayed at this hotel for a quick trip to the Sault. It's in a great location by shopping and restaurants. The locks are only a couple of miles away and a direct route from the hotel. The hotel is undergoing renovation which is looking very nice. The rooms are adequate and well furnished. Nice complimentary breakfast.

Just your average hotel. Chilly pool, no hot tub, but there is a sauna. Should have water as a choice for breakfast for those who don't like coffee and cannot have sugary drinks like juices. Easy check in/ check out.

It was our first time to this area so the location right off the freeway was a plus. Clean room, very comfortable beds, & good breakfast. Good map of the city that helped us to "explore" as well as spend time watching the ships travel through the locks.

Stayed here on a September 2017 trip to Sault Ste Marie. The hotel was a good value, but it isn't the newest hotel around. The room smelled musty when we arrived, and multiple pieces of furniture in the room had chunks missing from the wood from years of wear and could use some TLC. The room was very clean, with the exception of a significant and noticeable build up of minerals on the shower head - not the first thing you want to see in the morning. The breakfast is amazing! Hot biscuits and gravy definitely sets you up for a good day! :)

Stayed in Sault Ste Marie on way up to the Keweenaw and on the way back. Excellent rooms and service. Internet, decent breakfast in the morning. Stay there each twe go up North. Bed was comfortable. All was clean and nice looking. Liked having a small fridge.

noticed the clean smelling room right away. Carpets felt clean under my feet. We had no problems with the room itself. However, we had the squeekiest 2 beds (yes, both Queen beds were noisy) in the room that we've ever been in....

We stayed 2 nights here while in this area.The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. There were only 2 problem areas. The couch in our room was so broken down that if you sat down you could barely get up and when sitting your legs would rest on the frame of the couch. The other thing was the exhaust fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy.

We stayed two nights at the Best Western Sault Ste. Marie during our recent time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The room was well appointed, clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room had a king bed and a hide-a-bed sofa. The sofa was a bit "tired" and had seen a lot of use. The motel staff was very pleasant, professional and treated each guest in a way that made us feel special, not just another customer. The complementary breakfasts included the customary choices found in many motels these days. We enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again when in the area.

My husband and I are VERY unhappy with our stay at this hotel. He reserved a king bed room with a jetted tub TWO MONTHS in advance and paid in full at that time. When we arrived, the front desk clerk could not find our reservation. After we showed her our printed confirmation, she said she found it but that we were already checked in to our room. She then called our room and talked to the occupants of the room. It sounded to us like the previous front desk person had given our room away to this occupant for an undisclosed reason. The hotel was booked so the front desk clerk offered us a complimentary night in the extended stay hotel across the parking lot. She said it was clean but dated, basically and that we could talk to the manager in the morning because there was no manager on duty. When we arrived in the room, we were VERY unhappy with the accommodations. It was a subpar room to say the least. There were numerous stains on the carpet, a very worn toilet seat (my husband said the underside looked even worse...I didn't even want to look), old box TVs, a spider between the toilet and tub, one bed was firm and the other one sagged, the sofa had a one to one and a half inch hole in the upholstery, and it was just very dated as well compared to the room we had purchased for the night. It also was not a jet tub room. We were VERY disappointed as this was to be a rare weekend away without kids in a nice jet tub room. We tried to find another room after stepping foot into this one but there was only one other room in Sault Ste. Marie and it cost one hundred dollars more a night, than the one we had purchased from this hotel. We had no option, we had to stay. We were just going to talk to the manager in the morning, hoping that she would somehow make it right. It was not to be. After the manager was briefed by the other front desk staff person, the manager smiled and told us, "Sometimes people just stay in their room for another night and don't check out and there's nothing we can do about it because we can't touch their stuff. I'm sorry. Our hands are tied." We called Best Western Customer Service to file a complaint, three days after arriving home. They said the hotel has six or seven days to respond to the complaint (I don't recall which it was). After not hearing from Best Western for 13 days, I called today and they told me that a request had been sent to Expedia (we had purchased through Travelocity, which I guess is related) to refund our original purchase price. That is all they will do because they said rooms are not guaranteed through a third party vendor even though our reservation print out said the room was "guaranteed for late arrival." I have never heard such nonsense and am completely disgusted with this entire situation. We have yet to receive the original room credit on our credit card.

The staff is very friendly and willing to go out of their way to help. Never had a bad stay there, even in middle winter snow storms. Location is great, stores, Restaurants and Gas close by. Well kept facility, clean and maintained well.

Great hotel. Price was reasonable. Breakfast was very good, and staff was very nice. I would stay here again. The hotel was also in a good location and easily accessible to different attractions and the main interstate.

Always stay at this location when we travel that way because of the location and pleasant staff members. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay and treat you like family. The breakfast is good and has a variety of selection.

We had a great stay at the Best Western. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. The location is quiet as well. We had a fantastic continental breakfast of scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy and Canadian bacon, as well as bagels, cereal and etc. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel!

This hotel had a nice décor and the mattress was very comfortable. The television is a good size. The staff was friendly. The sausage gravy was very good for breakfast and there was a variety of other choices. This location is close to all the attractions we wanted to see. We would stay at this location again, if we are in the area. The next time we travel anywhere, I am going to check out a Best Western first since this time was such a comfortable experience.

Nice property.. Great staff that were friendly and attentive. The front desk agents made you feel welcomed and offered good dining suggestions. Close to I-75 and not very far from the Soo Locks. Good size rooms. Good breakfast. We would definitely return to this Best Western.

Staff was very accommodating, helped with restaurant and travel recommendations. Rooms and breakfeast were acceptable, great location.Some minor problems with cooling systems and wi-fi but staff tried to resolve it.

Upon arrival we were put in a great room - nice bed, couch and chair and it was very clean. Although I notice a weird smell upon entering, Left and went out to dinner and when we came back room was nice and cool and smell was pretty much gone. Took my shoes off and and walked to the bathroom and ended up with wet socks. The carpet was soaking wet in front of the bathroom. We went to front desk to tell them and of course they were full. the manager explained what had happened and gave towels for the floor and said they would check on it in the am. Came late the next day and carpet was still wet and the room smelled. Upon complaint we were moved to a different room. That room should never been used but I guess since they were full they had to. The breakfast was great and management friendly. Although all the work was done by use without any help from them. They never offered any compensation. The rooms were clean and up to date. Our second room was great - just smaller.

The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and hA A A great location right off I-75, and only 5 minutes from the city center. The staff was plesent and eager to please. The BW will be my first choice when I return.

Dan was the person who worked the desk and check-in, and he was very welcoming and professional. He greeted us and made sure I knew everything that I needed to know about our stay. It was great! He did mention that the hotel was going to be remodeled soon. I will look forward to the changes and updates.

We have been enjoying this property every summer for the last 6 or 7 years as we visit my mother. It's dependable, clean, quiet, serves a decent breakfast and above-all, offers pleasant customer service. This visit was exactly as expected. It may be pricey but the knowledge that you're going to sleep well after a 12 hour drive, is comforting. We will be back again next summer, BW. The only thing I didn't like was the new blue and white branding. It looks ordinary and run-of-the-mill like cheap motels but I won't hold that against them!

Great hotel. We only stayed 1 night but more would have been fine. Shuttle to cadino and back with a phone call. Good breakfast altho some things were running out. Biker friendly as we were allowed to park underneath.

Handicap entrance to pool is not acceptable. Routed outside the building needing to re-enter another door with key code to get back into pool area. When you leave pool routed back outside, and the door to get back in is locked with no key code entrance available. This could be bad situation in the snow and ice that is common in this region. We were very pleased with the hotel, staff, hot breakfast with hot waffles, and biscuits and gravy, eggs and canadian bacon along with fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereal. Great location! Go downtown and see the free observation park right next to Soo locks! Hugh ships right there in front of this two story viewing platform going through the locks within a few feet, and a nice children friendly information center, and did I mention FREE! This was one of highlights of our vacation. Also awesome dining, and shopping in this area!

So we've stayed in a lot of hotels and there are very few I would search out to stay in again - but this ONE BW would be on that list. It is above average on all the points that count to me: cleanliness (Love the "fresh remote"), everything worked well in our room, great location, GREAT breakfast - kids and I agree that it was the best hotel breakfast we've had all week. And we've stayed in other BWs along the way...this one is a cut above the rest! Would definitely stay again and would recommend to a friend! We were a little bummed there was no hot tub, but it had a sauna!

prices increased and service and cleanliness decreased. extremely dissatisfied with the last visit. I used to love this hotel. I hope that it improves. I would like to keep visiting this place if it changes

Enthusiastic and helpful front clerk when we checked in; room was clean and quiet. I only wished that the hotel rate was lower, but would stay again. Breakfast was average to good, but liked the location and the room was quiet and the air conditional worked well.

This hotel -- when compared to other options in town -- is a great value. Good location close to the interstate and to good dining choices. The staff and courteous and friendly. Breakfast is free and is far better than other Continentals provided by other chains..

For an older hotel, it was very nice. Very good assortment of items available for breakfast. The lobby was expansive and very nice, as was the breakfast area. The hotel only showed it's age if you looked closely.

We had a one night stay at this hotel in a suite for a family of five. The room was incredibly spacious - one of the most spacious our family has been in. The room did have a stale odor unfortunately and we discovered that the bathroom door would not close and we had a problem with the toilet running, and it turned out that maintenance was not in the building that weekend. We thought the beds were comfortable. The check in staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast at this hotel and though it was nothing special, there was nothing specifically a problem with it either. The location of the hotel was outside of the downtown heavily tourist area, which worked fine for us. It was a short drive to get there.

We payed a little extra to stay here based on the reviews we had read compared to the other Hotels. And man did we get TAKEN. Air Conditioning was inadequate and not blowing out much air and sink kept clogging up after just washing your hands. Went to desk to inform them of our issues they responded promptly but didn't really handle our problems. They came up to our room, messed with the air conditioner knobs, were there about 2-3 minutes and left. Air never was really adequate. After seeing they probably weren't going to take of our issues I told them we would "make do" which staying in a hotel you should never have to do. Overall, an ok stay but too much $$$ for average.

Slept well in a quiet room. Ate a nice breakfast with eggs and Canadian bacon or eggs and sausage. Glad to see the protein. The hotel was clean and had friendly service. Our only concern was the air was not working when we got the room and it was fixed immediately.

This was a wonderful facility with friendly staff. Easy access from interstate I75.Very quiet and clean. Breakfast selection was wonderful with adequate seating. We would certainly stay there again. Enjoyed our trip.

Very spacious King-bed suite, which included a kitchenette and couch that converted to a bed. Our beagle was traveling with us during this 'waterfall tour' and it was an extra $20 charge (very reasonable). Would stay here again - as it was only 5 minutes from the downtown Sault St Marie area.

Excellent place to stay when in the "Soo" area on vacation or travelling thru the area on the way to Canada. Value is very good, spacious and clean rooms, great breakfast and very helpful and courteous staff. Closes to numerous dining choices and a mini mall and Wal-Mart for your shopping needs.

Very Nice people, tried to accomodate me and make our stay there the most enjoyable, and it was! greeeeaat bed, pillows, sheets! CLEAN everywhere. The management team must to be very good and have the best staff. Will definitely come back next visit at Sault Ste Marie. The breakfast is excellent, the gym and pool adequate. What's left to say? Nice people!! Room old, bed mattress needs to replaced. The worst was the awful smell....sewer gas or pets previously. Used lots of Lysol...didn't help. If we were not so tired we would have left. The star is for nice people and breakfast.

This Best Western was very nice for our overnight stay to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan-We went on a family vacation to visit the locks. The hotel was easy to t he freeways and very easy to find. It is not in the heart of the city, but very nice.

good, i would stay there again if the beds were not so hard, i could not sleep well, other than that it was nice and quiet and enjoyed the stay, breakfast was good but not many tables, but seem like people ate and moved on so others could enjoy breakfast

Nice staff. Reasonable price. Comfortable room. Would have like to use the pool but arrived too late at night. The US side of Sault Ste Marie is much nicer than the Canadian side and I recommend coming here to those intending to cross the border.

Pool and Sauna are nice, but a hot tub feels mighty good on tired, achy bones. Buy and make some decent coffee. There is no privacy in the internet area; the lobby by the door is hardly a great place to have the "business center."

Staff is so helpful from reservation to check out. Breakfast Joan and Kim along with the rest of the staff are courteous and considerate of special needs. Assessible rooms are very nice and by door to parking so you arecan enter .

Beautiful hotel - wished we could have stayed longer. We were in town for our daughter's college orientation. We plan on frequenting this hotel on future visits. I hope to be able to utilize my points in the future.

Overall the hotel was very nice. The matresses, however, were terriblly lumpy and old. They were worn to the point I kept rolling to the middle and there was a hide lump in the middle which hurt to lay on. Also the hotel was super dry. Everything else was great though. Very clean and breakfast was good. Lots of options there.

The staff was friendly, the hotel clean and updated and the beds/pillows were absolutely comfy. This hotel sits across the highway from a strip mall so it was very convenient to shop after my work day.

At the moment of entry, you feel like you've stumbled onto something good. The check-in counter could easily support three staff members and matches the immense lobby with high ceiling and working fireplace on one end. Our selection was a king room, which included a couch, coffee table, a couple of chairs and workstation. And still the room did not appear nor feel compressed. Instead it was very roomy and accommodating. Breakfast is buffet style, but the staff was proficient in keeping it well stocked with fresh offerings and immaculate..

We always stay here when in the Soo. It is conveniently located almost next door to the bowling alley. It is always clean and the staff is great and very accommodating. Breakfast is quite good and a nice variety. Hot was HOT and cold was COLD. We look forward to Best Western every year.

An average to good place to stay when visiting the area for business or personal travel. The staff is friendly. The breakfast buffet from 6am-10am was much appreciated. The king-size bed was not firm and probably needs to be replaced. No way to keep light out of the room at night, since the drapes are not made to close.

We had family in town using 7 rooms for a funeral. Staff was exceptionally helpful throughout our whole stay. We had several different arrival and departure dates and all was handled smoothly. Great job

I travel to northern Michigan during the winter every year and this place seems to be the best value around. The Best Western in Sault Ste.Marie has great rooms, a very friendly staff, and a great location. It was perfect for what I needed for my extended stays.

No complaints everything was great. Room was ready early. Did not use pool. Breakfast was very good and everything was good and warm. Room was very clean. TV worked, blinds were good room could have been darker as parking lot was outside our room.

A impromptu overnight getaway and found this motel to be perfect ! Price was right, very clean. But the great thing was the most awesome comfortable beds and pillows !!! Just melted into them !!! Bathroom towels very soft !! It's quiet here and the free breakfast is generous. Pool and workout room is great ! Staff very nice and friendly. The heat / ac unit is extremely quiet and that was a big plus. Hate when these things keep going on and off during the night...not this one !!! Definitely a BW fan now !

Stayed here for our 5th anniversary. Wasn't expecting much but wow I was surprised. Room was clean, smelled fresh and spacious. Bed was firm-no sag from previous people. Neither the linens nor the towels had that bleach smell in cheap hotels. Coffee maker was clean-no scum or residue.Large clean bathroom. The pool was 24 hours and wished I had my swimwear. Staff are friendly. The breakfast was amazing. Both hot and cold choices and vast. Priced to meet or beat other hotels and well worth it.

We were visiting Sault St Marie for the fist time, and booked our room without knowing how close it was to the locks and attractions. We were very happy with our accommodations. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. If we are in this area again, we would certainly stay there.

Clean and neat, good breakfast (nice and hot), the gentleman who checked us in was extremely polite and helpful. My friends enjoyed the pool. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. Showers had awesome water pressure. Lots of fresh hot coffee, which was a huge plus for our group.

We arrived late; left early -- but, in between, this establishment provided all which we needed. There is some work being done in the parking lot and - with them having received some recent rain - that area was a bit muddy/messy .. but, the lobby, breakfast area, room and bathroom were clean. We were well served -- and we are satisfied with our experience!

This BW is heavily used due to the fact it is so close to "the Soo". I must say that the staff was excellent in all ways, always willing to help at a moments notice. The room was pretty much as you would expect in a tourist destination. It was pretty clean.

My friend and I stayed here on our trip through Northern Michigan. We arived to find out all the have was the jacuzzi suite left. I was excited because of the long drive from Detroit. The tub was to small. Im 6'3" and i couldnt even sit in this tub comfortably. Other than that the bed was comfortable and the room was nice. The front desk staff was a pleasure to talk to

I always review the typical free breakfast as what one would expect to get for free. However, this was not a typical free breakfast. Coffee was freshly brewed and hot - not in a pump carafe that is usually a little more than warm. In addition, one had four (?). choices, including Colombian. Hot biscuits, freshly made waffle batter and hot waffle irons, sausage links that were perfectly cooked, fruit, cereal, etc. The girl taking care of the breakfast area was friendly and all tables were kept wiped. The room was very clean. Pillows, mattress, etc. were very comfortable. Very nice stay.

I would not stay here again. There was an odor in the hall way which I did not like. I did not appreciate the dirty carpeting in our room . It had a big stain on it. The windows were dirty. My husband had to fix the shades on the windows so they would stay up. This used to be the best place to stay in Sault Ste. Marie. It isn't anymore. We always stayed in this particular room and were always happy there until this time. The hotel definetly needs attention. We did not even bother to have breakfast in the dining room. Also, I want to add the hotel workers were sitting outside smoking when we arrived. I do not want to be in an establishment that employs people smoke outside. It did not present a very favorable first impression of the place. We won't stay here again.

We did a quick stopover on our way back to Canada. Hotel was clean, room had a bit of a smoke smell. Beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. Hotel is in a great location, you can walk to near by shops and restaurants. I would have no issues around staying there again.

The hotel was similar to all Best Westerns'. It was very clean, friendly staff and quiet. The room was very nice and comfortable beds. We would recommend this hotel to others. We enjoyed a dinner locks cruise as well while we stayed overnight.

We were very pleased with everything about our stay in the Sault Ste.. Marie Best Western. The room was beautiful & really well maintained, clean as a whistle. The staff was helpful when any inquiry was made & the breakfast was varied, well presented & the attendant remained present & assured that the food was plentiful. I don't have any complaints at all.

We stayed two nights. Everything was very clean. Room was quiet. Lots of handy electrical outlets. Room is the typical tight space in the two queen rooms requiring bed sitting to watch TV. Breakfast was typical buffet.

Stayed here last Tuesday and the hotel was was great!! Breakfast was good, very busy but the staff kept up with the crowd. They catered to our motorcycles letting us park under the canopy and towels to use in the morning. I highly recommend staying here.

Definitely will stay here again. Quiet, clean rooms that were in very good shape. Everything seemed to be taken care of and very clean. Even behind the bathroom door which no one remembers. The staff was friendly and we had no problems. The breakfast was super! Separate coffee area too. Very pretty place and highly recommend.

Hotel conveniently located just off I-75 but only a few miles from downtown and the Soo locks. Nice and clean and comfortable. Also it was quiet even on ground floor with parking right outside window. Breakfast is nothing special but enough if you are a light breakfast eater. Staff is very friendly.

The room was a good size however whoever cleaned it used a strong chemical cleaner because the place had a strong smell. The breakfast was very good and the staff was very friendly however the place could use an update.

This is a nice BW located on the main strip just a short drive to the locks. There are several restaurants nearby as well as a shopping plaza across the street. Breakfast was very good as that particular day they had Canadian bacon and egg omelets..yummy as well as a nice change. Their staff was most helpful with directions and area information. Would definitely stay here again if back in this area...

We came in late and the only hotel staff person was very helpful in helping us get our TV working. She also allowed us to park in a temporary parking location because the only disability parking spot available was already in use. Despite the outdated hotel, the breakfast was better than the average free breakfasts offered.

The hotel is in a great location. It is a little worn in places, but still very clean. They had a very full continental breakfast. The staff was very attentive from the check in to the check out process. We will come back!

I would stay here again when in the north-east U.P. .The rooms were very quiet. We could hardly hear any hall noise or outside noise. The room was clean. Some of the other reviews scared me a little, but I took a chance and it paid-off.

Reasonable hotel with all the basics. Nice, clean, and well-furnished room. Had 2 relatively comfortable Queen beds, 2 chairs, desk, etc. Had a 1st floor room and could hear walking and talking in room above me. Recommend a top floor room. Good free breakfast. First let me start with Kim the assistant general manager, She was supper friendly as soon as we stepped in the door, she got us our room right away, we ask for directions and things to do and places to eat and even how to get to church she was so helpful, she gave us ideas of places to go and even gave us maps to every location. Her front desk staff and cleaning staff were also exceptional nice. We were only going to stay one night and decide to stay two, because of so many things, such as the rooms were nice and clean the bed was very comfortable, You didn't hear noise from the hallway or other rooms, we were in the jacuzzi suite, which had a refrigerator and microwave in the room also which was nice,The continental breakfast was also nice.They also have a indoor pool and exercise room which was nice. If you want friendly, comfortable, clean, restful and a decent price, this is the place to go.

The floor of our room was filthy dirty. I don't think the carpet has been cleaned since it was installed - however long that was! Although vacuumed daily by the staff, it was dark with ground in dirt. The carpet probably needs to be totally replaced as I don't think any amount of cleaning will help. The rest of the room was clean with nice towels and fresh linens daily. And having a safe in the room to store valuables was a plus. The breakfast was good offering numerous hot & cold choices. This hotel is conveniently located on the business spur so it was a quick trip into Sault Ste Marie and to all the restaurants and attractions.

Best Western Sault Ste Marie one of the best hotels in this area to stay in. Rooms are very neat, very clean and beds are extremely think and comfortable. The lobby sparkles and gives one the feeling of being safe and secure. You will not be disappointed staying here. Staff are great and very helpful and accommodating Reasonable price as well.

Beautiful, clean room to accommodate a family of 6! I loved the fact that our room was at the end of the hall- away from the rest of the guests. Well maintained pool, sauna, and fitness area. There was a laundry facility available which was very convenient. I had to call the front desk to ask for more blankets for the pull out bed but they delivered them to our room within a few minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was delicious! There were so many options - biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, bagels, etc.! The only issues I noticed: a sign saying there was a game room with an arrow pointing towards the pool area. We searched but couldnt find it. Not really a big deal though. Then our bathroom door didn't shut very well but hardly a reason to complain. Our family will definitely stay here again!

I was looking for something in the UP of Michigan for a family outing and reviewed the stars for chain and local places. Best Western had some of the higher reviews. Friendly staff, clean, decent breakfast (about your average hotel) but the mattresses and pillows were horrible! Woke up with a stiff neck and back. I am not a bed snob, but these were not great!

Over the years, we've stayed at this hotel on several occasions. The staff are always friendly, breakfast is good and most importantly. they have comfortable beds, pillows and the pool is great for the kiddos. We would definitely stay at this hotel again when we're in the area. Also, it's centrally located to shopping, restaurants and the Soo Locks area.

Had stayed here before and knew what to expect. The room was clean and there was an indoor pool for the kids. The breakfast that was included was very good with a variety of foods. A little updating would be good in the rooms and in the lobby. Front desk staff were exceptional.

We booked this online and didn't really know what to expect. The hotel was clean, friendly and well laid out. We enjoyed the pool area, the great breakfast, and the great location to the area attractions and expressway area. The desk staff was exceptionally friendly and made the hotel stay even better with their smiling faces. I would definitely stay there again!

A last minute change of plans required that we get a hotel in Sault Ste. Marie. The Best Western had the most positive reviews and a senior discount so we decided to stay here. We were greeted enthusiastically upon checking and given great directions to area attractions. The hotel is located on one of the main streets at the south end of town with restaurants and gas stations nearby. There is a very convenient plaza across the street with TJ Maxx, J.C. Penny, Kohls, and several other stores. Rooms are large and immaculate. Breakfast was substantial and the attendant replenished the food as needed. In addition to the staples of muffins, cereal, and yogurt, the hotel offered do-it-yourself waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits with gravy. The coffee is good, too. Overall, we were very happy with our visit!

Our family enjoyed staying at this hotel very much. The rooms are very up-to-date and clean. The breakfast was nice, but typical for hotel chains. However, the breakfast staff was very impressive. They took care to "bleach-clean" the tables which we very much appreciated since one of our group has a peanut and tree nut allergy. Peanut butter is available on the breakfast bar and could, thus, be tranferred to tabletops. The hotel is very convenidnt to I 75 and only a couple miles from downtown. Also, the mattresses are excellent and we all slept very well.

The room was clean when we arrived. The housekeeping was a little slack in that the maid did not replace tissues or wash cloths when we ran out and we had to ask for them. However; over all I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sault Saint Marie, Mi. the location is very close to shopping, eating, and downtown (but you would need to drive to the heart of downtown). The pool was nice but could have been a little warmer. The sauna was terrific and there was coffee with all the fixings available 24 hrs. a day in the lobby area.

This was a excellent hotel. We had never stayed at a BW before, but will definitely do so again. The room was spacious, clean and had a grab bar in the shower/tub. This was very important for safety, This room had wonderful amenities. Great location to restaurants and shopping.

We booked a room with a king bed and when we entered the room the stench of it almost knocked us out. It was horrendous. When we very politely spoke with the front desk explaining the situation the clerk told us there was nothing they could do because we did not book with them but through trip advisor . They could not refund our money or move us to a comparable room. The only thing they could do was offer us a suite which we had to pay for in full so we are out more than $140.

This hotel appeared 'tired'. Large room, good bathroom, kitchenette, microwave & fridge. A way out of town, but looks one of the best hotels in the area. Very little to do in town. Odd numbered rooms are best as they look over a grass area, even numbers look over car park.

The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The continental breakfast was also very good. No pets allowed was a plus for us. The location was a very easy on and off for the Soo Locks Boat Tour. The business center computer did not work. That was the only negative. Lots of places to eat outside of the hotel.

My family checked in July 17, 2016 for one night. Things we okay. The morning of Check out on July 18 as I was leaving the hotel room to check out & door slammed on my finger and I was in great pain. My finger was cut and turned purple. I went to front desk and they showed no sympathy just by looking at there faces and there were indifferent. Front desk called maintenance. Maintenance spoke to my husband and did say the door became loose and this was a common issue lately. Front desk asked me if I wanted to write a report. You would think a report would be done right away. I asked how long it would take, she said 10 min. The report kid you not took only less then 2 min. I know they where trying to avoid writing this report. I have been to many Best Western hotels and this one was not the greatest. I am wonder in the Manager of this hotel was notified of this incident.

This hotel pretty much gives you everything it can for the money. The staff were really great, particularly the front desk and the kitchen staff. The breakfast was warm and well maintained. There's just a little drive into town, a quick straight shot on the highway. The pool is rather large and just warm enough to swim without being too warm. There was even a sauna.

Check in process very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Our room was immaculate and comfortable. After driving around the area and seeing possible alternatives, it was clear that we made the correct choice in terms of quality of product and value received. The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Our sincere thanks for making our stay so memorable in a most positive way!

We've stayed at this property before, it is always great - spacious room, comfortable beds and quiet! The included breakfast is not our favourite here - we did not care for the cheese omelet or the Canadian bacon which looked like deli meat but there is enough to get you going for the day!

everything about this Best Western was everything I'd hoped it to be & more! Staff was friendly, and informative of the many sites to see in the area of Sault St. Marie, and I'd highly recommend! Planning on returning!

We arrived late, but had no problem getting our room. I did feel sorry for the man at the desk, however. He was swamped with requests apparently, and seemed rather frazzled. Breakfast was good, but the eating area was very small. There just wasn't enough room for everyone. It was a weekend, so there needs to be an extra room available to use for breakfast on the weekends.

EXCELLENT hotel and price paid! Very conveniently located off I-75. Very clean and very nice looking inside and out. Room was very spacious! Love having fridge and microwave. Applebee's right across the road along with shopping. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

We always stay in a Best Western Hotel if one is available in the area we are visiting. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and courteous. The Breakfast area is always clean and well kept with staff available if anything needs attention.

Clean rooms and friendly and helpful staff. Best Breakfast I have had at even higher priced Hotels. The rooms were not ready at check in and girl at the desk was rude about it. but besides that the stay was very pleasant and quiet.

I was quite pleased with the pleasantry of the staff and their efforts to accomodate us, as we had not made prior reservations. The room was very clean, neat and comfortable. Wifi service was good - not slow or laggy at all.

First time staying at a Best Western and the experience was very positive. Staff was excellent; room was very nice and well-equipped. With super-easy access right off I-75 along with close proximity to restaurants, shopping & casino, we would definitely stay at this Best Western hotel again!

Was here for a LSSU visit- What an awesome place to stay! Staff was friendly - from the checkin girl to the breakfast staff. room was clean and big, and the hot breakfast exceeded expectations! The food was fresh and a great variety! Will definitely come and stay here again!

Room was bigger than most and very clean. Staff was very nice. They have many rooms. This is a big property. We had a sliding door with a deck and a water view. Definitely a better than average Best Western.

Originally we had reserved a room at the local comfort inn. However when we arrived we were disappointed to find that the comfort inn was closed and we were given no notice. We saw the best Western across the street and it looked very nice. At first we were hesitant to make reservations there because of a prior bad experience with Best Western. Nevertheless we decided to take a chance. Now I'm glad that we did. The lobby was beautiful and the desk clerk was very friendly and helpful and booked us right into a queen size room equipped with a microwave and a very small refrigerator. But it was big enough to hold the items in our cooler. The beds were comfortable the room was up-to-date and clean and we had a nice flat screen TV equipped with my favorite channels. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic complete with waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, various pastries, juices and great coffee. my only complaint was that we could not regulate the blinds to close completely so in the morning the sun brilliantly beamed through very early and woke me up. Overall, this was an unexpected delight and we definitely would book with Best Western hotels again.

Nice quiet room, great mattress, Clean room, hallway, lobby and breakfast room. I got a great nights sleep. Great breakfast, Waffle maker was #1. Great coffee and all kinds of other breakfast items to choose from. I will be staying here again when going that way.

The Sault Ste. Marie best western hotel in Michigan's upper Peninsula is an outstanding facility. Neat and clean. The complementary breakfast was comparable to other facilities that charge much higher rates. They got it right. Our organization invaded with over 80 people and nearly as many motorcycles. While not all 80 were staying at this facility, their hospitality toward all of our people was first rate. They gracefully gave us permission to utilize their building and surrounding property for many of our mock situations for training purposes. Because of this, I will be booking with this establishment in the future for personal use.

Stayed 2 days here. Very clean, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, close to lots of shopping, only a few easy minutes away from the Soo Locks, etc. Very quiet. Good size, very clean, fresh smelling, well appointed room with comfortable bed. Special call out to Shelley, who kept the common areas spotlessly clean. I usually try to find one thing to point out that could use improvement, but in this case, anything I could think of would be pretty trivial. Okay, completing the rest of the survey reminds me of one area in which the hotel could improve. Business travelers, or even people like me who occasionally have to conduct a little business even while on vacation, usually prefer that the business center be set off in a separate room or at least in an alcove rather than in the main lobby. There, I've done my duty and come up with a "con."

This was in the middle of a week long trip. We had not made reservations ahead as we weren't sure where we would be in the middle. We were at a restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie and as we were finding Best Westerns were clean with a good breakfast we were able to make a last minute reservation here (not quite the summer season yet). Staff very helpful, had to do laundry. Laundry facility was clean and able to buy detergent at desk.

We really enjoyed staying here. The rooms were nice and updated. Everything was very clean and smelled fresh. The housekeepers do a wonderful job. Had no problems connecting to the wi-fi. Breakfast was decent. Eggs and sausage, sausage and grave with biscuits. Waffles, toast and pastries. Also some fresh fruit. Everyone was very nice and full of information. Dave in maintenance had lots of fishing advice. Thanks Dave! Joanne was at the desk most mornings and she always had a big smile and a "good morning". We will definitely stay here again.

Cheaper than most BW but a great place to stay. Breakfast was very good and staff helpful. Most BW are out of my price range. I wanted to use fitness room but was being remodeled, The only drawback. also pool was not opened

I love the way some BW's take their art décor from the surrounding area and this one does it in style with pictures of freighters coming out of the mist......typical of Sault St. Marie. It was an extremely hot day travelling and the room was a perfect temperature we slept like babies. This one's a keeper.

The room was clean and quiet even with being on lower level near parking lot. Only heard car doors once during the wee hours. The beds were a bit soft for our taste but we did sleep well. It was an older establishment but clean and kept up. The bathroom decor could use updating. Breakfast was very good with hot items offered. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

We booked here for a ladies weekend away and were pleasantly surprised how lovely this property was. We were delighted to find out that the pool was open 24 hours :D The Room was very clean and the beds so comfortable! Check in was cordial, nothing Wowing but nice... Each and every staff member we encountered was absolutely lovely and friendly and kind. I have to say I am overly critical of hotel stays because I work at another brand hotel and I can honestly say I have no complaints about our stay there, unless I was going to nit pick which I am not going to do because we enjoyed ourselves very much! I have stayed at a few hotels in this areea and this one is the best so far. It is a very well maintained property in a nice area. I enjoyed the breakfast which has a great selection and excellent coffee. The free wi-fi worked great and the room was clean and comfortable. It is priced competitively with others in the area so I will stay here again.

Pulled in around 1am. Check in was quick and easy. Room was clean. Got the Laker rate total of $89.60. Nothing special with this hotel, just a typical 2 bed room with a bathroom. Only 2 miles from the college and just off the highway. Parking lot was full, had to park at the hotel next door.

Our extended family gathered for a college graduation and we all stayed at the Best Western. Sault Ste Marie, Michigan is a fairly small city and several of the noted hotel chains have come and gone with too little year-round business to support them. The Best Western is located just off Interstate 75, a short 15 miles from the airport. The rooms were clean, quiet and very comfortable, with a safe provided in each room. The staff friendly and accommodating. A free breakfast buffet is provided and the staff worked to ensure that the various choices (cereals, fruit, breads, pastries, waffles, scrambled eggs and other choices) were stocked and didn't run out. This hotel is located on the outskirts of Sault Ste Marie, with the downtown area and the college we were visiting only a few miles away. All in all, a good value for the price.

My husband and I stayed in a king-size room on the main floor for one night. It's a convenient location, although maybe not the most scenic. However, for what we needed, it was perfect. The room and furnishings were in great condition, everything smelled fresh and clean, and the bed was comfy. The pool/sauna are open 24 hours, and they have a very impressive complimentary breakfast. The only downside in our book-- no hot tub.

Probably one of the most conveniently located and consistent hotels in the Sault. I stayed here last year. However, the rooms are in need of updating by now. Still, it's clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is on the small side but there are overflow tables in the spacious lobby area. They offer a full breakfast menu and have some of the best-tasting coffee I've encountered in hotels and available all day long. Rooms on the parking lot side can be noisy, especially if a tour bus is loading/unloading or idling at the main entrance. I've stayed here before and will probably do so again. But other hotels in town are renovating and this one will have to as well in order to keep up.

Had a wonderful stay. Because of my diamond status we were able to get a free room upgrade to a jacuzzi fireplace suite. It was very nice . Will stay again hopefully this fall. Anniversary trip in August maybe. Love it up north.

This hotel was right off of the freeway- easy to find and pretty central to everything. Only about 10 minutes from downtown and there are restaurants and stores right across the street. Pool is open 24/7, but no hot tub. There is a sauna though. The free breakfast included waffles, biscuits and sausage gravy, cereal, fruit, bagels, toast, eggs, Canadian bacon, etc. Very nice staff, made check in/out easy. The only downside was the heater was a tad noisy when turned on.

I stayed in the soo the other day for work and stayed at the Best western . I was made very comfortable and relaxed during the checkin. the clerks were very funny. got to have a sense of humor, all the time, no matter what we do.it makes life a lot more enjoyable. Very clean room and a very nice pool and sauna area.Very accessable to places to eat and shop. Breakfast was alright. that had a good selection.

Normally we stay at Hampton Inn, and this was 98% of what we'd experience there. Everything was VERY clean throughout the motel and in the room. The breakfast had high variety and the quality was excellent, we missed homemade oatmeal which would have been nice, and the variety of yogurts was rather limited. There was a safe in the room. The internet was easy to startup with. The motel was simple to locate off the freeway, had a good size mall across the street and was on the main road that went right downtown.

I stayed here for business because of the good reviews and I would stay here again. My room was clean and more spacious than I expected. The gentleman that checked me in was pleasant and efficient. The breakfast was above average for the type of lodging and the value of the room was great overall. I only had two very minor issues...the thermostat on the wall did not connect to the heating unit. I found that I had to adjust the temperature of the room at the heating unit. And there was not a hot tub. (I had not checked ahead of time, but assumed that a property like this would have one. My fault.)

Such an accommodating crew at this location. We always enjoy ourselves here. We come up for a bowling tournament every year and stay here; the location to the bowling alley, strip mall, expressway, and casino is great. If you are lucky enough to hit nice weather, outside seating is great.

Hotel staff was courteous and professional. The rooms are clean and comfortable. THe parking lot and grounds are clean and safe.The pricing is excellent. As a single woman traveling alone, Best Western made me feel at home even though I was seven hours away.

My family had a great time. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. We would stay at this location again in the future. The staff were very helpful and helping us find places to eat and visit with in the area

This is a very nice hotel, convenient location, with a great staff. The only thing I can think of is the mattress and pillows probably should be changed out. Love the 24 hour coffee; the lobby was very welcoming but missed the fire going in their fireplace.

A very nice place to stay...from the desk people who are professional, yet friendly, to the great beds with soft linens. it was quiet and comfortable. Will stay again...it's right off the freeway, easy in and easy out. breakfast was hot and plentiful with hot and cold choices, including eggs, biscuits and gravy:)

The motel was clean, the staff were friendly, but the noise was ridiculous. The staff did not address my concerns, which made sleeping conditions difficult. This is an annual trip for about 20 bowling teams from the Ishpeming area. We typically bring about 100 people each year to the Soo to participate in the tournament. Two years in a row, we stayed in the same motel, and two years in a row the hockey teams (kids) stayed there also. This created very difficult sleeping arrangements. I may consider other accommodations for next year.

I cannot think of any place I or my group would stay at. The location is excellent and the service is outstanding. I don't think it is necessary for me to write an essay on my stay in SAULT STE. MARIE MI. We as a group stay their because that is where I choose to secure a block of rooms with my card for my bowling crew to stay at. It is convenient to my crew for the ability of the crew to walk to the bowling alley.

Best Western just off I75 close to everything has a nice pool and great staff. Hotel was very clean and the room we had was fresh and updated . This hotel offers more than your moneys worth good breakfast and a great location.

Kim was working the front desk tonight and totally went out of her way to make my stay comfortable. I had brought a classic Humphrey bogart film with me on the off chance that they might have a DVD player in the hotel. They did not, but Kim called a neighboring hotel to see if she could borrow one for the evening to let me use. A half an hour later, she delivered a DVD player to my door. Thanks Kim!

The pictures and marketing for the property led me to believe there was more to be expected than a typical BW property. However, the hotel lived up to expectations for the type: no more, no less. Really good breakfast, adequate room with up to date amenities, clean. No issues with functionality of anything. Nice big pool in the fitness center.

Friendly service, Clean rooms, Close to restaurants and shopping. Easy access from the interstate. Has a pool,sauna and exercise room. Free breakfast had a good selection of food from cereal to make your own waffles.

I was really happy with our room, a double queen. Super clean and well organized. The staff was super awesome especially the head housekeeper. The pool area was perfect and clean. The only downside of the hotel is the small fridge, it was half the size of a regular bar fridge.

We were in town visiting family just after Christmas. We were impressed at the welcoming, quick check-in; clean, quiet, updated room; a pool for the kids; a truly hot breakfast; close to restaurants, shopping, and downtown activities, and all at a reasonable rate.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, and would definitely choose it again when we're back in the area. We unexpectedly needed a room, and hastily booked it just hoping it wasn't 'too bad', and we we both very surprised at how nice everything was. I rarely take advantage of the breakfast that is offered at most hotels, but did in this case and was again surprised at how well the area was maintained, and simply could not have asked for anything more. I never write reviews, but I feel they deserve a little of my time.

I was looking last minute for a place in the Soo as SSM is locally called and picked this because of the rate and convenience. THe hotel is very easy to get to, close to shopping if that is what you are going for and easy to hop on a major road to get anywhere else. The parking was easy, breakfast pretty good - eggs/ sausage/ waffels/ some fruit... room was clean and quiet. I had a problem with the tub draining, or rather not but not because of a clog... it came disengaged or something, they sent up a maintenance fellow on Sunday morning and he fixed it after several tries. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

First time staying there. Very convenient location near restaurants and shopping like Walmart and grocery store. Lots of parking. Rooms were larger than many hotels, which was good because we stayed multiple days. Breakfast room was a good size and the hot and cold selections was the usual and more than adequate. It was a place we felt comfortable lingering and looking out the windows. Fresh coffee available all day long off the lobby. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. Nice and quiet at night, even though there is a meeting facility on the second floor that had lots of activity in the evenings we were there. There is a guest laundry on the second floor, only $1 for wash and $1 for dryer. Super deal. HInt: go right across the highway to the mini-mall and buy laundry supplies at The Dollar Tree. The front desk staff and cleaning staff were so friendly and helpful. They even called to find out when an event started that we wanted to go to. I was impressed when seeing the cleaning staff at work through open room doors during the day - they were scrubbing diligently, not just a lick and a promise like some places. One person was even washing the inside of the dresser drawers. When we had a problem with the tub draining, maintenance came while we were out and took care of it. I'd definitely stay here again. Very good value.

We travel frequently. The Best Western hotel in Sault St. Marie just has to be the best hotel in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The room is updated and very clean. It is conveniently located and their breakfast was nicely presented. We have been traveling in the Upper Peninsula for several days. We originally had reservations for four nights in another city. We stayed one night and checked out. Made a reservation in another city for three nights; stayed one night and checked out. Now we are at the Best Western ...should have stayed here first. We could have avoided all of the travel as well as the unpacking and packing. Thank you to everyone at this hotel in Sault St. Marie, Michigan.

The location is good and the staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean but could use some updating. The Jacuzzi in our room did not work but they did adjust our room price as compensation. Overall a decent place to stay.

Very clean hotel, breakfast was hot and good. The room clean and very comfortable bed but missing the toilet paper dispenser. The roll was sitting on the counter looking for it we found that the whole front of the counter was missing. You ok just bad maintenance The second night I went to the front desk for a second blanket for the wife side of the bed. But they did not have any. Odd but true So we turned up the heat and around midnight the heat sounded like the it was on its last leg. I'll say we must be the first to use the heat since last spring

Nice room, comfortable bed, strong wi-fi, decent complimentary breakfast. Small refrigerator, microwave and one-cup coffee maker in room. Quiet. Restaurants and shopping close by. Have stayed here several times, always happy.

This is one of the nicest Best Westerns we've stayed in. The staff were all very helpful, professional, and friendly. Always had a smile and a what can I help you with for us. Rooms were very clean and beds were very comfortable. Housekeeping (we stayed 4 days) had everything freshened and refreshed, beds made. Everything nice by the time we returned for the night. We were extremely happy with our stay here.

Great hotel. It started with the staff. They were very pleasant and very informative. The room was updated, clean and easily accessible. The pool/sauna was clean and well maintained. The surrounding area had everything you needed. Walmart, applebees, McDonald's and plenty of gas stations.

Enjoyed our stay. Only problem was the internet connection. Could only get it in the hallway at first. I reported the problem and it started working in our room. Worked fine after that. No problem with anything else. They have a nice indoor pool and work out room that we didn't use.

Over all the hotel was very nice. The check in staff helpful, nicely decorated, basically what I have come to expect. However, When a tour bus is staying there, plan on taking your breakfast back to your room. There was standing room only, and the desk staff must have been a little to busy to notice that their guest were standing, sitting on the floor, and spilling coffee on themselves.

The hotel was ideally located for ease off and on the interstate, including to the International Bridge, as well as for driving to local attractions. Very clean facility and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of choices. Due to allergies that my wife and I have, we were especially appreciative that the hotel is a non-smoking and non-pet facility. When visiting again, we'll choose to stay.

Called ahead to book a room for that evening. Only room available was a 2 queen bed room with a fireplace. OK, so we booked that - non smoking. Arrived after dinner to find that our non smoking room had been smoked in. Really, the cleaning personnel couldn't tell. Notified front desk personnel and they offer to spray the room - note, no discount was offered. Didn't matter if discounted or not (but felt should have been offered) we could not stay in this room because of the smell of smoke. Personnel seemed indifferent about the situation, just a job. Ask for any recommendations since it was after 9 pm, was told all the hotel were booked. Went east down the road to find a charming one of a kind motel that was $40 less! No it didn't offer a breakfast, but breakfast doesn't cost $40. So at the end of the day, I was very happy where I ended up staying.

We stayed one night on a road trip heading west. This was a typical Best Western, with plenty of parking, carts to transport all of your luggage inside, and an elevator to help you get all of it to the second floor. The staff was efficient, the hallways and our room were clean, and there was no odor of tobacco smoke or mold. Our room was equipped with a mini-refrigerator. Our stay included breakfast, and it was a good one. There were eggs, sausage, and gravy if you wanted something hot. There were bagels, bread for toast, cereals, pastries, apples and oranges, yogurt, juices and coffee. The breakfast area provided ample seating, and there was a hotel employee who kept everything stocked and tidy. Checkout after breakfast was a simple matter of handing in our room keys. We were very happy with our stay.

The room was well prepared upon arrival. The bedroom was neat and clean, also the bathroom. Excess to the rooms from the lobby was through an enclosed windowed hallway to lobby. Picnic tables were located easily on the grounds next to the rooms. The air conditioner was audible, but not too loud. Easy access from rooms to parking lot. Gas stations and restaurants located near the highway.

Highly recommend staying here and not the Comfort Inn across the street. This hotel has nice clean rooms with nice Tv's a great breakfast, beautiful pool area and understanding staff. It is a welcoming environment. The only thing negative I can think of is the pillows were a little to firm, so take your own. Also within walking distance of anything you might need. Have a great Trip!! ;)
