Best Western Plus Hotel San Damianu

The grounds of this property are natural and pretty. We didn't use the pool, but the pool environment looked very nice. We had a nice room with a small balcony with good views of the countryside and Sartène. Breakfasts were good. Two drawbacks - 1. it's a steep walk up to the town of Sartène. 2. There is early morning road noise from the winding street below so I used ear plugs to sleep

Just arrived in the beautiful little town of Sartene, excited to visit the southern part of Corsica, we parked our car in a free spot in the hotel parking lot near a small building: near there was some discharged stuff stacked in a messy way. When we went out for dinner, a man popped out from the building we had parked near and asked us not to park in that spot because he lived there. At the check-in desk, there was a girl (who speaks barely English), with no BWH uniform or any other sign to help us identify her as a staff member. No one helped us with our luggage (the lift was broken every other day). The room was spacious, but more maintenance should be done regularly: there was mold in the bathtub, the wardrobe handle was broken and after few days when we tried to open a drawer, it fell down and no one fixed it even though we asked. The cleaning and maintenance of the common area should also be much improved. A guy, who was supposed to be the maintenance and gardener guy (not dressing uniform), was wandering around with poor results. Also the cleaner stuff. At the end of the day, we ask ”Where's the manager?” Has the butler murdered him like in an Agatha Chiristie story?

This is a great hotel and was by far the best hotel we stayed in on our 3 week tour of Corsica and the South of France - it takes some finding as the hotel is perched on the side of a steep hill and is virtually undetectable from the road - fabulous views, great staff and clean, well equipped rooms with good-sized balconies - superb swimming pool - large, secure car park - excellent breakfast - 10 minute walk into the old town square, 15 minutes going back to the hotel because it's up hill !

We liked the nice view from the breakfast room and the room's balcony. Beds were comfortable and A/C worked well, so did WiFi. The staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good though not much remained 30 minutes before closure and they were unable to make fried eggs or espresso. Hotel is deep need of refurbishing because it is oldish and badly maintained: the gutters were rusty, the furniture looked outdated. Bathrooms date back from the 80s. Elevator was being repaired and didn't work most or the time. Breakfast items were missing 30 minutes before the time of closure. Parking space was always full and dangerous to access. The location of the hotel is steep climb from the city center. We had booked a twin room and were given a double room upon check-in. It took reception half an hour before figuring out they could give us a triple room with one double bed and one single bed. Our room had a direct view on the breakfast terrace.

We spent 3 nights there. The staff was welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious and filling—great views from the terrasse. The bedroom was roomy, comfy and clean—great outdoor pool. The hotel is conveniently located because it's not directly in the center of the town (so less noise and crowd) but just a 5/10-minute walk from it which means you do not need to take your car either. Would stay there again. The only drawback is that there is no restaurant in the hotel for dinner.

Liked · The view of the landscape with a side of Sardene is the highlight. You enjoy it too on the pool, which is also great. A lot of parking spaces. Nice room with relatively new facilities. Teapot. About 20 minutes drive to Propriano and its beaches. You can also enjoy a walk to Sartene Disliked · It was diffcult to regulate the water in the shower. On the balcony there was a gap between the glassrail on the floor and we traveled with a crawling baby. Everytime we tried to close the gap with a chair for our safety, the service staff came in and opened it again. The breakfast was rather poor. The last negative aspect was an inclined toilet.

We stayed in this hotel at the beginning of August and we really enjoyed it! The hotel is very nicely located on the hill and from the room balcony we can see the town and also the see! It is also very close to town centre with beautiful cafes and restaurants. On the other hand the staff was very nice, breakfast was served on the nice terrace with gorgeous view. The parking was free and had a space for everyone. The only bad thing was that there were so many wasps around swimming pool. It was ok to be in the water but once you started sunbathing wasps tried to sit at you. Overall, highly recommend this hotel

It's perfect for one night. Rooms are a bit dated. And go under the category shabby chic. This hotel wants to be more than it is. BUT the rooms have absolutely fantastic views if you book the right view. We did ;). Pool. But not used. Reasonably close to town. Nice staff. Breakfast just average.

Stayed here 19-26 July and had a great time. The welcome was good with lovely, English speaking staff (my French is very poor). The rooms are well decorated and maintained and all have exceptional views from their balcony. The hotel offers breakfast on the terrace, in your room or an express service at the bar for those in a rush. They do not do evening meals but the town of Sartene is only a short walk away where there are numerous restaurants. The swimming pool is small but more than adequate and is also well maintained. The service from the hotel bar is good. Car parking can be limited if you are last back at night but the hotel managed to squeeze me in and it was only an issue once during the week.

Lovely mid range hotel with amazing views and lovely property close to charming town and restaurants. There was a delicious breakfast served daily on covered terrace also with peaceful views. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. My entire family enjoyed staying at this charming property. Nice pool and gardens too.

My wife and I received extraordinarily good service from this hotel during our stay (initially as part of a tour group) on April 30 and May 1, 2018. I had picked up a food poisoning bug at a previous location and had to go to the local hospital. The hotel staff (a family: husband, wife, and adult son) were extremely accommodating to us, transporting us to and from the hospital (at no extra charge) on multiple occasions and otherwise taking care of our special needs. The hotel is beautifully appointed with gorgeous views. Our large room was comfortable and clean. The food was good. We recommend this hotel and its proprietors without reservation.

Stayed 1 night with 2 rooms. View and quality of rooms is good although nothing special. Good breakfast for 14€ on a lovely terrace. The pool is big and heated. No restaurant, so you need to walk 10 mins into town where there is plenty to choose from. Wouldn't stay a week but for one or two nights it is fine. 210€ per room is on the expensive side for that kind of hotel though.

Stayed there 2 weeks ago. Very nice and spacious room with a balcony overlooking the valley and the mountains. Nice linens and very clean. They offered a generous and well presented buffet breakfast well worth the price. Staff were very helpful in locating a doctor in Sartene to see me because of my bronchitis. A nice place to stay.

A great pity that Milk was not provided for that "cup of tea" we were told that they needed to "re-stock" THIS IS NOT GOOD Sadly the Restaurant was not open either - THIS IS RATHER BAD FOR A BEST WESTERN GROUP HOTEL

I spent a few nights at the hotel after Easter. I was conscious that some of the reviews have been variable so I wasn't sure quite what to expect. However, I thoroughly recommend the hotel. Our room was a good size, clean and modern with a lovely view of the valley. The hotel manager couldn't have been more helpful, but he talked quietly so wasn't all that easy for us to understand with French not being our main language. Will happily stay there again.

Crackling little hotel on three levels, views aplenty. Actually in the Best Western chain, great terrace dining area and pool. Lift from car park to lobby. Tricky to find, but in the right spot for access to the town, despite being on a serious hill. Breakfast (pay locally) is same price as offered on websites, and a bit heavy for the options. Best swing by a bakery on the way out somewhere. Brilliant little gem in the mountains but only twenty minutes from some of the beast beaches in Corsica.

The owner/manager has anger management problems and verbally assaulted me over a minor incident of replacing 4 bottles of beverage from the mini bar fridge. I felt threatened and concerned at the time that the manager would physically assault me. He barged into my room, opened the fridge and started shouting at me. He insisted he was giving me an "ed - u - cache - she - ion" while shouting at the top of his voice. After the incident, I went to reception to indicate my fear and disgust at what had transpired. The owner manager was sitting besides the reception staff . She kindly translated that he was not going to attack me physically. Well I do not approve of being verbally abused because I replaced 4 x 300ml bottles with my own beers. Whether this is disrespectful to the management or not, it does not justify such behaviour. It's a real shame because after the incident, he was exceptional nice, offering us a complimentary beverage from the bar and a coffee in the morning. If it was not for this managers/owners anger management problems, I would gladly recommended this hotel to others. There is a risk no doubt that if you perform some act that is not to the managers satisfaction, you will equally be at risk of such behaviour. Occasionally I leave reviews, all positive to date on various sites but feel obliged to warn others. I would except an apology from the owner/manager if he acknowledges his problem and takes steps to seek counselling. There are numerous reviews before and after our stay that confirm his behaviour.

We booked this hotel since it was conveniently located outside the village when driving around the island. The room was large, clean and had a wonderful view from the balcony. Spent the eavning on watching the sunset... We didn't try the breakfast. For the price we paid I think it was a really good choice.

Sartene is a nice little town, however there is really not much to see. The hotel itself has a good location with very nice views. There are good parking facilities, however a bit too small for the number of rooms. People at the reception were nice and friendly (even the owner who has very bad commentary in several comments is not unfriendly). The rooms are pretty large with a nice balcony overviewing the city of Sartene and the valley. You can even see the sea far away. Rooms are clean but decoration is rather poor and simple. Breakfast is OK but the choice is limited. With nice weather you can take your breakfast on the terrace. We had dinner in the hotels' restaurant 2 times. It is not bad but not more than that. The atmosphere was pretty cold, a bit of music in the restaurant would help a lot. The hotel has a nice well kept small garden an a small but good situated outside swimming pool. To conclude : it is an average hotel, good to stay for a couple of nights. There is nothing to do in the evening after dinner, even the bar was empty ( Sartene itself, is also really dead in the evening). To discover the south of Corsica, Sartene is a good departure point.

We had a horrible time. In brief, we got to the room in the evening and after 5 mins discovered a rat/mouse in our room. We called the hotel manager and he came into the room in a confrontational manner. He said we were in the "countryside" and therefore this kind of thing was to be expected (the hotel is in a small town). We disputed and said regardless hotels shouldn't have rodents in their room and if this was a potential problem it should be managed. He then started yelling and saying we were making a big deal out of nothing. We felt intimidated and asked him to leave our room and he said "it was HIS hotel and he would come and go as he pleased". We decided we were not happy spending the night there so packed our bags and left. We asked him to refund our money and he said "No". We were in the room a total of about 25 mins (including yelling time). my Fiancee and I are very easygoing people so for us to get this upset it takes a lot! So basically, go at the risk of having a mouse in your room as it is "normal for the countryside" and also risk getting yelled at.
