« Great place to stay »

We stopped here for the night. What a wonderful hotel/motel. Located off I-95 but far enough away where you heard no traffic noise. The room and the entire motel and grounds were clean and in excellent condition. The staff were excellent. We had a King room and the bed was very comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Located close to restaurants and shopping. We would certainly stay there again and certainly for more then one night. Would recommend this motel to family and friends and certainly worth the price.

    « Small pet-friendly rooms »

My son and I stayed at this property on our way south to Florida with two small dogs. I like that they do accept pets and have pet-friendly rooms. However, the beds were really small (don't believe they are Queen - felt like full sized) with small square pillows. Loved the soft water! The accommodations were fine overall, but the property did not feel like other Best Western "Plus" hotels I have stayed in...didn't really see the Plus! The breakfast buffet was fine as well - had eggs, bacon, waffles, pancakes. Just really cramped but they are able to move people in and out quickly and it was well maintained. I did choose to stay in another pet-friendly hotel in the area on our return trip north. Mainly because my daughter joined us and there was absolutely no way we could fit two people on those beds. And they did not provide roll away cots. Overall, the room was clean and the hotel well run. The rooms/beds just were not adequate for our needs.

« Best Western Plus in Santee, SC »

This one-story motel is an excellent place to spend the night.--a comfortable, clean room with an enjoyable breakfast and homey breakfast room. Supper club type restaurant is a short walk away, right next door. It hit the spot.

« Once again a great place for your golf trip »

So close to three awesome course...across the parking lot to the driving range, great amenities, and the breakfast will satisfy everyone. The beds are terrific and the room is big enough to accommodate all your equipment and still have room left over.

« Very comfortable spacious room »

We only spent one night en route Florida to Virginia and needed a comfortable place to stay. This hotel fitted the bill completely. Comfortable, clean and quiet. Great breakfast too and friendly staff. We'll be back.

Very nice decor and welcoming atmosphere. Easy to park car in front of room for easy access. Excellent breakfast for departure. No need for additional verbiage in spite of trip advisor's insistance on more words

« Best Western Santee- Home Away From Home »

Great Hotel! Rooms are always clean, pool is sparkling, and breakfast in the morning is hot and fresh! Can't say enough about this gem of a hotel! From the minute you walk into the lobby, you know that you are going to have a great experience! My family has stayed at this hotel for 40 plus years. The rooms are beautiful and look like new! We would not consider staying at any other hotel in Santee! I wish more hotels were like this property. You won't be disappointed!

    « Great experience »

Comfortable, clean and reasonable. Right off route 95. Breakfast is nice, fresh and pleasant. Been saying at this hotel for 5 year and was never disappoined. Great restaurant. Food is awesome. All of the staff is great

« Great place to stop on a drive from North to South »

We have stayed at this Best Western several times and it never disappoints. The room and bed are fine and It is right off I-95 exit 98 Santee, SC. Next door is an excellent seafood restaurant, Captain's Quarters, which you can walk to from the motel.

    « Good for I95 trip »

Friendly ladies at the desk. All one level. Can pull car very close to front door. Dated room. Adequately clean. Wifi worked very well. AC good. Quiet. Good TV. Small bathrooms. Better than most other motels in the area. Coffee in lobby 24 hours.

    « One night stay »

Very nice hotel. Large rooms, quiet. very clean. Comfortable bed and large chair. Nice flower and plants arrangements around, chairs and tables and two hamacs to spend time outside the room. Good breakfast hot and cold. Several restaurants at walking distance or very short distance by car.

    3
« Quick stay on the road »

The rooms were clean, but small. Had the basic amenities. Full breakfast buffet was included , but the quality was fair. Inexpensive and fine for one night. Parking right outside your room was great when traveling and having a packed car.

    4
    « Comfortable »

BWP has a very convenient location to I-95. The reception and breakfast room are very nice and adequate size. My somewhat inexperienced tells me that this is an older property that was redone. Our room was smaller than comparable properties, but the furnishings, carpeting and beds looked new and fresh. The tub in the bathroom seems to be original, but the marble countertop for the sink was contemporary. Another good feature is that all the rooms are at ground level, making access easy.

    4
    « under re model »

Nice hotel in a very good location. Our room had new shower/tub new carpet, and room paint ( not in the bathroom yet) so it shows the room we had was under a re model process. It was very clean and the bed was great. I little more money than I thought for an older hotel but they seem to be bringing it back up to date. A nice compound, nicely laid out.

    5
    « Running from hurricane »

This resort was a wonderful surprise location staff and the restaurant next door was a pleasant surprise. Will definetely stay again on our way to and from florida. Easy on and off Rt 95 and close to gas stations which is good for traveling. Very nice pool

    5
    « Terrific VALUE »

Everything was neat, clean, friendly, reasonable rate, delicious breakfast. The bed was very high for me. I am 5 ft, 5 in. This hotel has a separate wing for those who smoke. I thought that was considerate. It also had a bible in the room. I haven't seen that in a long time. Nice!

    4
« Clean and easy access »

On our return trip from Disney, we stopped at this hotel. Not your typical Best Western. All rooms are on the ground floor with entrances from Parking right in front of your room. Not my favorite, but much easier than carrying suitcases up stairs! The room was clean and typical of what most of these hotels off the highway are. They have free hot breakfast...you need to walk outside to get to the breakfast area...not an issue for us. There were a lot of golfers at the facility. There is nice restaurant right across from the parking lot but we opted for Cracker Barrel which is about 5 minutes away (but difficult to get to)! I would stay here again if our travels take us this way.

    4
    « Another winner. »

Extremely easy and smooth check in. Room was excellent, with comfortable bed and no funky smells. All rooms are open to the outside, so you can park right at your door. Awesome AD and overall pleasant stay.

    « Best western Santee »

A very convenient location just off I95. Great Restaurant right next to hotel. Friendly staff and easy to get in and out. This is a great place to stop on your North South travels as you go up and down the I95 corridor.

« Reliable choice in Santee »

Welcoming staff and lobby after a long day on the road. Average size room with little frills but clean and comfortable. Pool area looked nice although we did not use it because of the weather. Breakfast was the standard coffee/juice/muffin variety. Seafood restaurant was right next door but check their hours if interested.

    « Large clean room »

We stopped here on our drive from Virginia to Florida. I thought it was a good value for the price. The room was large and comfortable for 5 (2 adults, 3 kids. We did prepare for one kid to sleep on a mat on the floor). The only downside was that half of the AC unit was not blowing air, so it was slightly warm in the room. It wasn't bad enough to complain. The pool area was nice, and the general feel of the property was safe and inviting. The buildings are one-story and brick, with parking in front of your door. The breakfast area was crowded, but the food was very good. Overall, it was a good stay and we would definitely stop there again.

« A lovely older motel, immaculately kept »

We have been stopping in Santee, South Carolina, on our annual trek down to Florida from Philly and have tried to book a room here, but they have always been full. Now I see why. We lucked out this time. A large, well kept, immaculate room, a lovely pool area, and a free morning breakfast, hard to beat. My husband appreciated the convenience of parking right outside our room; no second floor. A great restaurant a few steps away affiliated with the motel. AAA members get a very good rate.

    4
    « Santee inn »

Driving from Virginia to Florida and this was a great location to stop. The room had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot. Bed was comfy, room was clean and free breakfast available. Heated outdoor pool .Parking is literally right outside your room! which I originally thought I would not like, but made it super easy to unload the car with a toddler.

    4
« Clean rooms, quiet place »

Nothing real flashy about this hotel but the rooms were very clean and it was quiet. They have a sign on the door that said no pjs in the lobby where they have breakfast but it didn't seem to be enforced. They had a nice selection of food for the continental breakfast.

« Great hotel to rest for the night!! »

Found this hotel on Priceline for a good deal. We were driving from DC and needed a halfway point to crash the night on the way to Orlando. Didn't think too much of a Best Western but i was wrong! I arrived around 9pm and the young lady at the desk was very friendly and helpful. She quickly checked me in, gave me the keys and directions and i was on my way to the room. The room was LARGE. Larger than i expected. Beds were big and comfy. The room had a microwave and minifridge. Bathroom was on the small side but i suppose they sacrificed that space for the living area. More importantly everything was clean. One of the best parts was that all rooms were on the first floor so guests can just park right outside their room. In the morning, there is a full breakfast served in the lobby. AMAZING breakfast for supposedly a 3 star hotel (felt like 5 star). They had scrambled eggs, delicious breakfast potatoes, breakfast sausage, toast, oatmeal and even biscuits and gravy! This breakfast match or exceeds some of the other places out there that charge an arm and leg. Checkout was simple. Overall, i would definitely stay if i were to pass through again!

« Nice, Clean Little Motel »

While traveling from Florida, we stopped for the night at the Best Western in Santee off of I-95. The employee at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We were impressed with the room. It was extremely clean and the furniture/decor appeared relatively new. They have a really nice outdoor pool and a separate restaurant and the property. We aren't big on breakfast, therefore we cannot speak to the quality of the food. Great hotel if you have a physical disability or would prefer a motel that is on ground level. We were able to park our car directly in front of our room. We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again when traveling back and forth from Florida.

« Best Stay In Santee »

After many many years staying at the Holiday Inn in Santee we tried the Best Western Plus in Santee. We were so pleased, it became the place for us to spend the night in Santee! Very clean, excellent and very helpful front desk, and is totally reasonably priced. Although we have never had breakfast there, we are told it is very, very good! One floor easy in and out and for us the best part our favorite on the road restaurant Captain Quarters right next door!

    5
« Clean, recently remodeled with a great breakfast! »

This was a pleasant surprise on a recent road trip. It is an upgraded older style motel. The best part is the breakfast and the best part of the breakfast is the grits. As any grits connoisseur can tell you there is an art to making good grits and this place knows how to make them. I would stay there again just for the grits. Also, there is a nice pool area just off the dining room which is a nice place to have a cup of coffee. I have stayed in several places in Santee and this one was worth the extra twenty dollars or whatever it was.

    4
« Best Western Plus, Santee SC, just off of I-95, so it was convenient »

Clean place, breakfast was ok. Nothing wrong with the hotel, it was small, but clean. Conveniently close to I-95 so if you're making that long trip up and down I-95 and need a break, it's just fine. Would stay again if needed.

    5
    « sweet motel »

a large and attractive property all on one floor. nice private and quiet rooms that are very clean and well appointed. the staff is very friendly and helpful. there is a very nice restaurant adjacent. nice campus with attractive outdoor pool

« Great place to stay! Newly refurbished! Comfortable beds! »

Room was great-beds, towels, shower area all good. Quiet but that have been the time we were there. They try to place people in every other room so you don't get noise from other guests There is a restaurant next to the property-I think it is run by the same company - Captain's Quarters. The food there was edible but not exeptional. The beer selection has no craft brews-not even Sam Adams and a limited liquor selection. Breakfast was okay-they have bagels, yogurt, fruit, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage. Quality is not the best but it is good enough for families to feed the kids. The fruit is both fresh and canned. But if all you want is a nice quiet sleep, I recommend the hotel! There is a pool that looked nice.

    5
    « Clean and friendly »

We didn't have reservations. The front desk was professional and very friendly. Our room was clean and newly renovated. Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. We went next door to the Captains Quarters which was recommended by the front desk. That was awesome too.

« hotel stay in South Carolina »

The is the best Best Western we have ever stayed in. The room was lovely, the bed very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. We will definitely stay here again when we travel to South Carolina! Hopefully, sooner rather than longer.

    4
    « Comfortable and convenient »

This hotel accepts pets and has several nice areas to walk the pet. The rooms are standard fare. The location is a stones throw from I 95 so it is easy to find. It is located just behind a very nice local Southen restaurant and near several others. They offer a nice, big breakfast before you are back on the road again. It happens to be adjacent to some strange little park like area with life-size elephant and giraffe! On the other side is a golf course so there is lots of grass and trees.

    4
    « Family reunion trip »

Nice little hotel in Santee. Kinda in the middle of the main drag of Santee, very close to restaurants in Santee. The breakfast bar was really good. Recommend this place for nice quiet clean place to sleep with a jam up breakfast bar for the morning.

    3
    « One Night Stand »

This Best Western is more than adequate for a one night stay while traveling north or south on I-95. We have stayed there at least twice a year for the last 6 years and never had a problem. Nothing fancy but fills the bill for crashing for a night's rest.

    4
    « Stay in Santee »

The hotel staff is very attentive and the hotel is clean and welcoming. I used the pool area and found it to be very clean and relaxing. The Internet was fast and I was able to complete my work easily.

    5
« Always pick this Bewst Western Plus »

My 3rd stay here. I actually plan my drives to stay here. Very "family owned" feel to the place. COMFORTABLE beds. ALL GROUND FLOOR rooms. Lots of other hotels at this exit and I only consider this one.

    5
    « Clean and Comfy »

This hotel has a nice appearance and although you drive up to your door and there are not inside hallways, I felt safe. The room was clean and odor free. A great stay overall. Close to 95 and many restaurants.

    4
    « Family Trip »

The staff were very friendly and except for the air conditioner keeping my husband awake at intervals, the room was clean and easy for a handicapped traveler to maneuver around. I would not recommend the Shoneys restaurant that is close by. Not happy with the food quality, but the Cracker Barrel one mile down the road was good. We were very happy with the fact that there was parking right in front of the room and everything was on the main floor and not multiple floors.

  • 1
    « Highly Disappointed »

Where do I start? We were in town for a family reunion and this was the chosen hotel for everyone to stay. We booked a room with 2 queen beds as we were traveling with two children for 4 days. . The beds are full size beds not queen. We had to beg for towels each day they seemed to be scarce. We returned from an outing on our 2nd day to find not only had fresh towels not been left but I room had not been cleaned. We reported this to the front desk but the staff did not seem too concerned. This is clearly a motel not a hotel. Bugs were able to get into our room from the outside due to the door not sealing properly. The bathrooms are entirely too small. The only almost good thing was the breakfast but the breakfast area was small with very little seating. The Internet service was spotty. Very old and run down motel. Spend a few dollars more and go across the street to Hampton Inn.

    5
    « Restful Night »

After a long day of traveling in 90 degree heat and thunderstorms, I was tired and need a rest. I stopped in Santee only 2 hours from my destination. The Best Western was right of the exit and easy to get to. The staff was very welcoming. The property was very quite comfortable and clean, nice surrounding. I felt very safe. After the good night sleep, I had a breakfast that was very satisfying. They, also, included a to go snack for the road.

    3
    « No A/C »

Staff real freindly...Room clean but a little small...Pool real nice...A/C in the room not working very well...! They changed it out but the one they put in is not working either...I would stay again as long as a/c worked..

    5
    « WONDERFUL »

FOR A GREAT NITES SLEEP, sleep well in the plus, plus, plus Best Western Plus. For price, rest, clean, breakfast, pool and helpful staff you will want to stay here. Even all the guests were friendly and welcoming. Your welcome!

    3
    « ok »

The hotel was a stop over on my way from Virginia Beach to Cairo Georgia. The hotel was ok and the layout was nice, however being all one floor motel type rooms, you can hear everything outside your door all hours of the day, and in addition to that, the shower cold knob was so tight that most people would not have been able to turn it

    4
« Great Place to Stay just of I-95 »

Far better than adequate. Old-style "motor inn," where you park in front of your room. BUT, inside you find a modern room. Great beds, fridge, microwave, high speed wifi. We will try to time our North-South trips to stay again.

    4
« Clean room, nice staff »

Very clean. Nothing is out of place in the room, no repairs are seen in the room that need to be done, which is rare. Very polite staff, who seem to all take their jobs seriously. Pool area is spotless, pleasant all around. Several restaurants close by.

    5
    « Excellent Stay »

I would most definitely stay here again. I go from Florida to NY a couple of times a year. I am marking this place a definite stop. They take pride in keeping up this place. The beds were queen size not double. Matresses were new. Cleanliness was a key to the hotels success.

    5
    « Great night »

This hotel was a great find. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. Checking in was a breeze compared to other places we have been. The breakfast was very nice and the area was kept spotless and well stocked.

    « Common Sense »

I reserved a room at this house on Friday at 8:00 PM +/-. I made a mistake by not checking my reservation prior to booking. The reservation should have been Saturday/Sunday not Friday/Saturday. When I arrived at BW I was told that even though they had been paid by you they were going to charge me again. I have the privilege of paying twice for one room. The response from the motel was that since there was a third party vendor involved that could do nothing. We went over that ground 3 or 4 times. I asked that since they had been paid by you what would be the harm of recognizing the error that they would forgo being twice for the stay. I could readily understand double payment if the motel had been sold out on that Friday but it wasn't. It is neither your responsibility or the hotel's to protect me from my error. So what we have is an unhappy customer. Unhappy because I was honored by paying twice for one stay. Now I may be missing something, but wouldn't it have been better all the way around if the motel decided to forgo charging ne again for something that they had already been paid for. Again, certainly my mistake with the reservation......

« Pricey for location but well maintained. »

Everything is good about this hotel but check-in staff is not welcoming or friendly. Park at your room since it's a 1 floor hotel and wonderful restaurant next door. Also. They have a nice complementary breakfast in the morning. Too bad the desk staff is unfriendly.

    4
    « Pleasant overnight stay! »

Traveling from Florida to New England and had been on the road all day. Convenient location off the I-95 Interstate with front of room free parking. Room rate very reasonably with a clean and well decorated room. Staff pleasant and helpful. AAA recommended. Free breakfast buffet was a nice surprise the following morning in the on-site restaurant. TV and free wi-fi was also available for personal and business use. The only minor complaint was the toilet area could of use some upgrading, at least in our room. Overall a good experience for an overnight stay!

    5
    « Amazing stay »

I don't give high marks as a general rule however this facility and staff deserve them. Best stay I have had anywhere in quite some time. Easy access, clean rooms, pleasant staff and a more than adequate breakfast choices make this a great place to stay and I will do so the next time I am in the area.

    5
    « Great Deal »

This is a great deal for the money. Very accessible to everything in the area. The room was outstanding and I stay in a lot of rooms, this ranks up there with any of them. The pool area is safe and clean, the morning breakfast is good enough. Nothing that will amaze you but good.Just a quality stay.

« Best Western Plus at Santee, South Carolina »

We have stayed at this hotel in the past, though the last time was a few years ago. We found the most recent upgrades very nice, and the beds themselves were very comfortable. The pool is just the right size. We were a little disappointed that there was a 30 to 45 minute wait to eat in the restaurant without a reservation which we were not aware of, so we ended up eating at a very poor Shoney's. We love the area and would stay again.

    4
« Good for overnight stay »

We stayed one night during the week. The breakfast was good, standard continental fare. The pool was refreshing, clean and in good condition. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The front desk personnel were helpful.

    « Not bad »

Friendly staff. Nice room, had a microwave, mini fridge, a/c worked great and it was upper 90s outside. Breakfast was good the next morning. After checking in I learned from another guest I could have saved 35 dollars had I booked online....live and learn. Definitely would stay again.

    « Comforting Relaxing Hotel »

This was one of the best hotels to stay overnight while traveling North or South on I-95. Rooms are on the ground floor and spacious. Easy access to the highway. I would recommend this hotel to anyone couples, family, etc

« Not bad at all »

Visited Santee, SC during the week of 7/7/16 for a family reunion in Holly Hill. Here are the best things about this property: the outdoor pool is AMAZING! I felt like I was at a private resort during the 2 mornings I spent some time at the pool. I was the only one poolside and it was fabulous! The water was warm and the pool was clean. In the evening it was more crowded with children and families, but that wasn't my concern. The breakfast was also very good and beyond my expectations. The room was basic, and as long as the air condition worked, I was fine. There was a small fridge and a microwave...both perks and the cable had more than enough channels. The worst things about the property....the rude housekeeping staff. I wish I had gotten the name of the rude young woman who, with much attitude, and not a pleasant word or look, dropped towels off at my brother-in-laws room. Disgusting, is the nicest way to describe her demeanor. In addition, our room was not cleaned the 1st day, and on the 2nd day, it was cleaned, but they didn't leave any wash cloths or towels. Overall, if visiting the area, I would stay here again, just not for 4 nights.

    2
    « A taste of the ghetto »

It is a great place to go if you do not want to get any sleep because loud parties will keep you awake. The hotel staff will not stop the parties. I finally decided to pack up my family in the middle of the night and get out of the hotel. There was a weird guy who sat outside by our door all night and it appeared that he was on drugs. The noise carried in to my room so we were unable to get any sleep.

    « Nice overnight retreat »

Excellent stop over as 1/2 way point on travel to Tampa. Very clean, and maintained well with comfortable queen size beds and quality linens. Pool was clean and refreshing and relaxed our weiry grandchildren who had traveled over 14 hours for a normal 8 hour transit. Pleasant staff and very nice breakfast. Breakfast offers hot waffles, sausage gravy, quality yogurt, cereals, scrambled eggs. Constantly maintained and kept clean and appetizing. Stayed on travel to and from Tampa, when moving my granddaughter for college. Certainly will be a regular stop in the future

« Good Place to stay »

I was staying for one night on my trip between DC and Orlando, FL. The hotel is in very good condition, very clean rooms, the staff was very friendly and nice, place very quiet, the pool in very good condition and very clean, in the area there are good restaurants.

    « Driving home »

We were driving home and decided to stay for the night. We chose the Best Western and were pleasantly surprised. It is very easy to get to restaurants and gas stations. The rooms were very clean and everything worked. Even had a mini fridge. The breakfast the next morning was free and had a good variety to choose from. They offer a military and veterans discount.

    5

« Way better than expected! »

This is an older style property, as am I (!!) with parking at the room door. Fine for me, but others prefer lobby access, I know. The property is conveniently located by the Interstae exit, but there is no highway noise. Restaurants, fuel, food store nearby. The rooms are clean with all the expected and hoped for amenities. A much appreciated plus is the water pressure in the shower...fantastic.....and the water drains quickly and freely from the tub ! Too often, this is not the case and slow drains are a personal pet peeve, but this is not the case with this property. I found the front desk attendant to be efficient and personable. The breakfast area is adequate (larger than some others I've experienced), clean and staffed; the breakfast items plentiful, fresh, varied and well presented. I didn't use the outdoor pool, but that area was like the rest of the property: clean and well maintained. This is a nice place to stay and I would not hesitate to return.

The rooms were great, the staff was friendly, the beds were cozy, the breakfast was delicious, and the price was perfect! ($50 less than it's neighbors on that day) The building is showing some signs of aging, but it's more character than anything else. I saw that they had an assistance chair for getting elderly into and out of the pool. I didn't use it, but thought it was a nice touch... like the hammocks! They're right off of the interstate but the noise from it wasn't noticeable once you get indoors. It's walking distance (50 feet from door to door) to a good seafood place (not associated with the hotel). It gets packed so reservations might be a good idea for groups of 6 or more.

« Great Place to Stay »

The room was immaculate and the staff extremely helpful. The breakfast was the standard hotel fare, but it was hot and plentiful. My only complaint was an inattentive waitress at the adjoining restaurant. I would stay there again!

    « Not For Me. »

This Best Western covers a lot of land with all rooms on the first level. There is a small pool, free wi-fi, and the typical breakfast fare in the morning. Check in was easy and fast thanks to the nice receptionist. The condition of the room I was given was under par; the door was ajar so there were mosquitos/flies already in the room, the rugs were stained beyond acceptable, I found dead bugs and other things left on the rug, and the AC unit was so loud that each time it turned on I was woken from my sleep. The "deadbolt" on the door was made of a very malleable, soft metal that would not provide a barrier for anyone who intended to break in. I've paid less for much nicer and cleaner accommodations. When I called to make the reservation I was told I could not have my two small dogs with me. As a result, I reached out to a AAA representative to arrange my accommodations and he happened to call this same hotel...they told him pets were not a problem. Hmmmm... As a single gal, I did not feel safe due to the malleable metal locks and I was put in one of the rooms farthest from reception (again, it is a very large property). This place is just not for me and I won't be going good back to this particular hotel in my travels south.

« Starting to show its age »

Nice clean room with a comfortable bed. You can park right outside your room. Lots of places to eat nearby. Front desk clerk made recommendations as to which were good. Good lighting in room and I liked the recliner. Flat screen TV, fridge, m'wave and coffee maker provided. Decor is looking a bit dated. Friendly front desk staff is one reason I stopped here again. Was here in March for one night. Breakfast is typical motel continental breakfast fare. Coffee was especially good. Good stop for travelers.

« Great Place Great Price »

Weren't sure what to expect in this small town but were very pleasantly surprised!! Clean and comfortable! Very safe area. We loved the landscaping and the hammocks! The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds were a nice size and comfortable.

    « A good value for a superior product »

The room was large and finely appointed. The bed was very comfortable with clean fresh bedding and the shower had the best water pressure I've found in a hotel in a while. It's all on one floor, so there is no stairs, which is nice for this retiree. The hot breakfast in the morning was very nice with scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage, self made waffles, grits and sausage gravy, biscuits, hot and cold cereal, yogurt, etc. The coffee was also excellent. There's an employee on constant patrol during the breakfast hours to refill the items and keep the area clean, and she does an exceptional job. The breakfast area is fairly large, but a bit tight if there are lots of people eating at once. But based on our lovely room and this more that adequate breakfast, we definitely will be staying here again.

« Lovely hotel and GREAT breakfast! »

We stayed here for the night on our way to Florida. What a lovely little hotel. There are many options for dinner nearby, the hotel was clean and the rooms smelled good. The beds were very comfortable. Our family got ice cream nearby and enjoyed it on the hammocks and lawn chairs by the pool. The breakfast was wonderful! Eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, grits and waffles! We enjoyed the fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal as well. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!

« Best Western Santee- Home Away From Home »

Awesome hotel! Great staff, great service! Rooms are nicely furnished and clean. Very peaceful and quiet. Great breakfast in the morning, to send you on your way! Wouldn't consider staying at another hotel on this exit!

« Our "Go To" motel »

This motel was recommended to us by friends and we were happy enough with the accommodations that this will be our stop on our drive north and south at least twice a year. We have referred anyone we know traveling on Interstate 75 to this Best Western.

    « overnight stay »

we haven't stayed here in a few years and was pleasantly surprised with the improvements. When we travel on 95 heading south again we will definitely stay here. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Having a restaurant so close to the hotel is a definite plus.

« convenient, great will motel »

When traveling to Hilton Head SC, my husband & I stopped a night at the Best Western in Santee, SC. It is so convenient, right off I-95. There seem to be a few dinner spots close, even those we had already eaten dinner when we arrived. Check in was a breeze, we had a nice king room, near the end of the motel, but that was ok, it was on quiet. Walked to pool area after getting settled. Clean area, nice pool area. The continental breakfast the next am was very good, with lots of options. Again, I think it was the best place to stay in Santee

    5
    « More than expected »

I did not expect an older hotel to be this updated and clean. Our family got two rooms and both were better than anticipated. We were on a fishing trip and fished all night. Showers were clean and beds were comfortable! I will definitely use this hotel again:)

« Great Stop in Santee »

For an overall "value", the BW Santee is an excellent location. Centrally located for golf, recreation, restaurants. Rooms were nicely furnished with direct tv service. Breakfast was well prepared and the entire facility was very clean.

« Stay & Play Golf within walking distance »

Fine location for a Best Western PLUS. Can walk to one golf course behind the property & another golf course is about a 5-minute drive further. Can walk to Captain's Quarters for a nice dinner. CQ is located within the hotel's parking lot.

    5
    « Very Nice »

A nice place with good pool area, a very good buffet/ BBQ can be found near the entrance to the Santee Lake park (I am not sure of the exact name of the park). The joint is located in a very old general store.

« Great if you want a quiet, adult stay »

We have stayed at this hotel several times, and there have been few, if any, children there. The hotel is all one story so you can park right outside your room. I would recommend not getting there "hangry", because your nearby restaurant choices are limited. There is a nice restaurant right next door, but it is only open from 5-9 pm and it's a little pricey and you might have to wait for a table. Otherwise, you've got Huddle House and Shoney's. Drive up the road a bit and you've got McDonald's and Cracker Barrel. The breakfast in the morning is nice, but it is very tight in that room, have to be very careful maneuvering around. Another thing I would like to mention in case it might be an issue for some people, the beds are pretty high off the floor! I'm 5'4" and almost feel like I need to make a running start to make it up onto the bed!

    4
    « Very nice stay!! »

We really enjoyed our one night stay here! We arrived at the hotel at midnight and we were checked in very quickly by a nice gentleman. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was well stocked and the area was clean, the lady at the breakfast area greeted everyone who came in. I will stay again.

    3
    « Clean rooms/ Broken A/C »

Rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast was Good, but not enough space or big enough tables for families bigger than 4 people. Was a long night beds were comfortable but AC was broken. Pool was clean. Workout room was great and they have a laundry room which was good. Resturant we didn't eat at but had excellent reviews, but we had thai food across the street and sushi was excellent.

« Stay at Santee Best Western on Fathers Day 2016 »

This is my favorite place to stay when traveling over 9 hours. The bed and accommodation are so comfortable and I love the pillows. They had a good choice of breakfast items. Almost forgot to say that the homemade cookies were a great touch. The pool area was very inviting

    « Family trip for 2 »

Will make another reservation when traveling north from Florida. and recommend it to others. We understand it is an older motel, but the Santee one has been delightful for seniors. Price is right, accommodations are clean. Staff is friendly and helpful.

« Santee, South Carolina Best Wesstern »

This hotel was beautiful and comfortable. Room was large and well decorated. The breakfast choices as well as the room was well done. We enjoyed our stay here and will be sure to return for a longer stay.

    « Rest for a weary traveler »

After 10 hours of driving on a 22 hour trip, with intermittent restroom and snack breaks, the Best Western sign was a welcomed sight. Comfortable beds, clean room, free wi/fi, and complementary breakfast which we did not take advantage of due to an early departure hour. Would definitely choose a Best Western Plus hotel again.

    5
« Late night stop on a roadtrip »

This hotel seems to be very popular and very busy. However, the night clerk on duty when we checked in late, was very pleasant and attentive. He took extra care to make sure all guest reservations were handled properly and each guest was settled before moving on to the next guest. The entire staff was very pleasant and respectful. True southern hospitality here!. The rooms are clean and the beds are so comfortable we did not want get up! This hotel has only one floor, a huge plus for me! And you can park in front of your room, which made loading and unloading luggage very easy. The pool looked very refreshing, even though we did not have time to use it because we slept in, and there were even hammocks for guests hung under the trees for guests to use. I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area again.

this is the second time I have stayed there and I will come back next year. the staff is friendly, rooms are clean as is the entire property.,family friendly. Clean pool, free breakfast. Good value. It gives an aarp discount. I got 2 queen beds for 85$. There is a lot of restaurants on the exit or just walk next door to the captains quarters.

    « Always fine »

Santee represents our halfway to our home in FL. We have always stayed at this hotel and have never been disappointed. It is comfortable with an excellent restaurant on the property. We look forward to the stay. It is a respite from the 95 traffic.

    5
« Great Place to stay »

This Best Western Plus was easy to get to from I95. The room was clean, the decor very nice, the bathroom was clean--which is very important to me. The only thing was the size of the refrigerator, very small, and when traveling with a cooler, not everything could fit, especially with a tiny freezer.

    5
« Overnight in Santee, SC »

Stayed here on way to Orlando, FL. Hotel was very clean and the morning breakfast is well presented and good. Since it was only one night, we did not use some of the amenities, such as the pool and exercise room. The room met all of our needs and served two tired travelers very well after being on the road for eight plus hours.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

    « Favorite hotel on I 95 »

This is our hotel of choice when we travel on I-95. The staff is wonderful very friendly and welcoming. Room is clean and smells fresh. Microwave refrigerator and free wifi in the rooms. Linens are nice and beds are comfy. Wonderful breakfast in a cute room. The pool is small but the Pool area is nice. We like parking in front of our room. Love the coffee and cookies in the lobby

    « NC Retiree Satisfied »

This Best Western exceeded our expectations. We choose this hotel due to the reviews posted on TripAdvisor. These reviews are important to me when choosing a place to stay. This was a one level hotel that was beautiful inside and out. Older but updated and well maintained. Quick exit off I-95 and lots of eateries close by within walking distance. For the golf enthusiast, there was a beautiful golf course next door. The breakfast was outstanding. Real eggs and sausage! The coffee was excellent too! Bed sleep great with nice linens and pillows. Also enjoyed the nice treat of cookies in the evening! I would definitely stay here again. Keep up the good work Santee Best Western Plus!

    « doesn't get any better! »

sqeaky clean room. park right outside your door. wonderful breakfast. friendly staff. what more does a person need. oh yes, a nice restaurant for dinner just a short walk away. they have a very nice outdoor pool area. the santee best western has it all. one of the best breakfasts i've had in a long time. freshly cut fruit, eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy, and the usual suspects found at hotel breakfast bars. the hot food was very hot and the cold food was nice and cold. the breakfast area was very clean, not always the case at a hotel breakfast area. we would absolutely stay there again.

    5
    « Comfortable and convenient »

Driving to FL and stopped in Santee for overnight stay. Best western was perfect. Just off 95, had a restaurant with good food and it was clean and neat. Would definitely return again if I was passing by.

    « Annual golf outing »

Every year our group brings 32 golfers to Asante. Usually we stay in on-site condos but the units we booked weren't finished being built so the golf course put most of us up in the local Best Western. It has been a while since I've stayed at a Best Western hotel not my first choice personally when travelling but the accomidations and amenities were very good to great. Beds were comfy, rooms and bathrooms were clean, tv was modern flat screen with satellite TV set-up. Everyone was friendly. Great stay....

« "Good stop on the way south" »

Excellent stop when traveling south. The accommodations are clean and comfortable and the staff helpful and courteous. The breakfast should make any traveler satisfied. The pool area is very attractive and a good place to enjoy breakfast. There are many restaurants in the area and one on site. We've been stopping at this motel for many years and have never been disappointed.

Golfing and hanging out with friends. We love this place. Always clean and the staff is awesome. The location is great for golfing or dinner Ten years we have stayed twice a year. Can't wait until our next trip in Sept. All of my friends truly enjoy this motel town and all the restaurants in the area

    « EXCELLENT STAY »

This was a short stop over on our way from our home in Florida to our place in PA. I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The staff were very helpful. There was an outdoor pool that was heated. A hammock and chairs made a nice reading or relaxing area. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and plan on staying again whenever we drive to Florida or back.

    3
    « Getting old »

This is the third time we stayed here. The rooms seem to be getting pretty worn and very out of date. This is worse in the bath area. The carpet feels old and brittle. The sheeting on the bed was ridiculous and we froze all night. It was $50 cheaper than across the street though. We didn't even bother to try the breakfast which went down last visit and was over at 9:30 AM on a Sunday

    5
    « Florida Bound »

2nd time staying here on the way to Florida. Consistency is the name of the game. Comfortable bed, clean room, great shower pressure, delicious breakfast. I just wish the towels were a little softer. The pool was also open, which is a bonus! Will return every time. Just wish they still allowed pets..

    5
    « Nice and quiet »

From the outside, the hotel appears to be kind of cute. Inside you can tell it is old, but they really try to keep up the maintenance. I beds are actually really nice and given how it is just a little ways off of I-95, it is very quiet in the rooms. I would recommend this place if you need a stop over for the night.

    4
    « Great Find »

Our first experience with BW+. Inn was newly refurbished and clean with large room, nice furniture, large flat screen TV, upholstered chairs, good reading lights, and REALLY COMFY beds. Have noted it for overnight stop north and south travel on I-95. We tried Hampton Inn and Suites at this location (sold out) but was very satisfied with our second choice.

    « A surprising gem »

We've stayed at Best Western's before and been very happy with the properties and staff. The decor of this place just wowed me -- more than the run of the mill hotel decor. And the staff were friendly and funny, too, very welcoming. It was a brief stay on our way from one place to another, but became a wonderful part of our overall trip. The restaurant was fun, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was really good, too.

    4
    « Good Value »

While this is your typical Best Western, it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is small and older, but for a night or two, it's doable.Free wifi and breakfast make this a great value for the money.

« Couldn't ask for anything better at this stop! »

Hotel was convenient, clean, comfortable, efficient and great price. Nice pool, wonderful breakfast and across the street was an excellent Thai restaurant! Had yummy cookies and coffee in the lobby too.

    3
« Decent place to stay »

The continental breakfast was very good, the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly. The bed, however was very uncomfortable. We were there for 3 nights and that is too long for this place. Not much to do around Santee unless you golf or fish.

    5
    « Great experience »

Love this hotel. We like the ambience and the staff was very polite. The room was great and everything worked well. I would recommend anyone traveling up and down the I95 corridor to stop in and enjoy a relaxing stay. I have stayed here before and was satisfied enough to stay here on this trip.

We have had good experiences with Best Western for the most part. It is a good clean hotel at a good price. Great breakfast. Good internet. Pleasant, helpful staff. Comfortable beds. This hotel is all on the ground level so it is easy in and out. Very enjoyable stay.

    « Nice Stay »

One night stay at this motel on way to Florida in late March. Convenient location off I-95. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Comfortable king room. Very impressed with the cleanliness. Bathroom was small as noted in other reviews, but vanity and sink were located outside of bath, so it wasn't really an issue. Very friendly and quick check-in. Good hot breakfast with many choices. We like the old park at your room door motels. Too many these days are not as clean as this one. Glad we took a chance. Will definitely plan to stay again on our next trip south.

    4
« Good place to stay »

The rooms were very clean. The staff was accommodating and breakfast was plentiful and free. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room. It was a great central locale to visit other areas of South Carolina and convenient to other resort areas but not too expensive.

    5
    « Great stay »

The staff was helpful. The hotel is great. The breakfast was really good and always full. The staff ensure the items were hot and fresh. The only cplaint is that some of the older guests were leaving very early and alarming their cars every time they put an item in it and went to retrieve something else. Not the hotel's fault but it made it made for an really early wake up call.

    5
« Great for an overnigt »

Recommended by a friend to come here. Stayed here twice for an overnight with family and it was great! Just what you need when stopping during a road trip. The continental breakfast was great as well! Will definitely come back! Great price too!

    « Clean and Comfortable »

We stopped in on the way to Florida. Our reservation was handled efficiently and quickly. The staff was friendly. The Inn is clean and quaint. It is a park in front of your room property. We felt safe. The beds are comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast bar was good. A definite stop back place!

    « Happy in Santee »

This hotel had been recommended by a friend several years ago. Santee fits our travels to and from our home in Florida and each time we visit it seems to get better with age. There is always a feeling of freshness relaxation and caring. We have told several of our friends and they have also stopped there. We will be there in October on our way south.

« First class all the way! »

Stayed here on latest trip to Florida and was extremely pleased with this property. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and courteous. Room was exceptionally clean, spacious and comfortable. Very tastefully decorated with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in a hotel. Has an on site restaurant. A free full complimentary breakfast is available, with hot and cold entrees. Will definitely stay here again.

    « Worth the Rt95 stop »

An excellent little find on our way to Florida. Rooms are small and you can't change more than your mind in the bathroom, but the place was clean and a short stop from the highway. Santee is a small town with only a few restaurants in the area, but enough to make a dinner choice of Mexican, Thai and American. We made the short walk to Captains Table and the food was really good, but not cheap. The breakfast was really a nice surprise. Eggs, waffles, biscuits gravy and grits. Cereal muffins, bagels juice and coffee. Will stop here again if we make another trip.

  • 3
    « Noisy »

The staff at the hotel are very nice. That said the hotel is very clean and has a nice pool. The only problem was that all the rooms are located on ground level so it's noisy. People driving up to park and the lights come right through the curtains. Also, people like to gather outside the smoke free rooms at late hours and talk. The acoustics aren't great. I checked out at midnight because it was to noisy and drive all night to panama City Florida. Would not stay here again.

    5
    « Great customer service »

    « Highly recommended motel »

We stopped here both on our way to Florida and back home . It is a very clean and attractive motel convenient to I95. We don't usually like to stop at motels where you park your car right at your door but we stopped here because of the good reviews we read . The rooms were spacious, nicely furnished and exceptionally clean .They had a good breakfast with many selections but the room was quite crowded .

    « A definite "Plus" »

Stopped on way to Florida. Selected this place because of T.A. reviews. This is an excellent overnight stop. Desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. You can park right outside the door to your room. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Amenities include a m'wave, fridge and free wifi. There is a heated pool and workout center. (The pool will be drained and cleaned shortly in preparation for summer.) There are restaurants within easy walking distance. The only negative was a couldn't find a soda machine. Definitely would stay here again on future trips.

Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Typical layout. In my opinion, the majority of hotels chains that I use up & down the east coast within this price range of $150 a night or under, need to renovate their bathrooms more often.

    « Very Nice Motel »

We stopped there on our way back from Florida. We usually stop at Santee but had never stayed at Best Western. The facility is very nice, well maintained and the staff is friendly and efficient. The price is reasonable and includes a hot breakfast with waffles, eggs and meats. The pool is heated and very clean. We will stop there again on our next trip.

    5
« Beautiful Room, Good Price »

The minute we stepped foot in the door we were greeted by a friendly, pleasant front desk clerk, our check-in was quick. Our room was very nice, clean and supplied with all we needed. The bed was very comfortable not much outside noise, got a good nights sleep. This was a handicapped room which had a two different chairs provided for the shower. Breakfast was very busy the next morning, but since one of us was handicapped we were sent to the business center so we could have a seat, really nice people. We will certainly return to this hotel.

    5
« Great Place to stop »

We always stop here on the way to florida. It is a very convenient exit from Rt95 and back on. The rooms are always clean and neat. The Motel has many extras and serves a free breakfast that is properly presented and gets you ready for the day. We have always had the best of luck dealing with the employees, who are pleasant and knowledgable about what they are doing. there has never been any problems and we have stayed several time. the price is very reasonable and the entire property is well cared for. I wish I could say the same for the restaurant next door. We have always ate there and the meals were good. It was convenient as they share a parking lot with the motel. This year we were seated next to 8 loud obnoxious golfers who did nothing but yell and scream for the entire meal. Nobody said a wood to them. This is an upscale and fairly expensive rest. that has always been good but We go to Mcdonald's next year

« Best Place in Santee, SC »

My family has staying in this hotel for close to 25 years on our trips between the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Ormond Beach Florida. We never even consider another location. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the grounds are landscaped nicely, the area is safe and secure, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and the pool is wonderful. The proximity to the interstate, gas stations and restaurants is perfect and the check in and out times are very convenient. The room rates are excellent and you get much more than what you pay for, especially considering other options in the area. The staff is friendly and professional and the breakfast is excellent. You should stay here.

    « Excellent hotel »

I usually stay at marriott hotels but since there was not one in the area I chose this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and it was great. Sparkling clean, fresh smelling, and lovely. All rooms on first floor and newly furnished very pretty and comfortable. Several small outdoor tables and chairs around perimeter of the Hotel. Though it was not pool weather, the pool and pool area was well maintained and crystal clear water. The lobby and breakfast room are very pretty and breakfast was fresh and good. Walking distance to a few restaurants but Captains quarters next door was very good. The staff is pleasant and helpful. As a new yorker a really nice hotel like this for under $100 was a pleasure. We will recommend this hotel to others.

« For a decent half way stop: »

Best Westerns are not my usual preference, but after examining many of the positive reviews and opinions put forth, I decided to give this particular one a try. The price of the room came to $93 after taxes which I would state was a fair value. All the rooms are at ground level and offer parking right outside the door. While traveling in luggage overload mode, knowing that my vehicle is within eye and earshot is reassuring to me. The woman at the receptionist desk was polite and informative. The room was freshly cleaned. The mattress was firm (which I happen to like). The bedding and sheets were crisply made up. I was seeking a hot shower and good night's rest, and this place delivered. One minus: breakfast is not put out until 7am sharp. Left standing outside, several of my fellow I-95 travelers were in agreement that getting underway just a half hour sooner would have made this stopover a bit nicer.

    « BWI Santee SC »

The Best Western Santee SC is easily reached from I95 with restaurants next door. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are well kept with a comfortable bed (we had a king bed) and clean bath room. The complimentary breakfast had a wide choice of food to choose from including cold cereals, waffles, eggs, grits, juices, coffee, and pastries. The outdoor pool was open even though we visited in February. The WiFi was easily accessed and provided high speed internet access. The only negative was that all the rooms open to the parking lot not to an interior corridor.

    « Warm Welcome »

We had a lovely room here after a nearby hotel was sold out. Same amenities...pool,breakfast,etc. And a much more reasonable price. We will stay here again. We walked next door to Captain's Quarters for dinner. The next morning the complimentary breakfast was delicious and gave us a great start for our continued drive to Florida.

« Not as good as the reviews state, keep looking!!!! »

Reading all of the great reviews on here led me to this hotel. Let me just say that everyone else must be NUTS!!!!! This should not be rated 4+.... It is everything I would expect from an average, dirty, slightly run-down, motel. A solid 2.5 is more like it. Upon check in, I had to "air" the room out for about 10 minutes because it smelled strongly like a nursing home. The mattress was awful (feel every little movement) and the bedding made me itch as it was very rough. There was even a leather recliner in the room, never saw that before (slightly weird). We were counting the minutes until checkout. Quality of sleep overall here was dismal. I paid $85 on a Saturday night, which I though was decent at the time, but looking back I would have rather paid more for something nicer. In fact, I feel you could even pay less at a roach motel because this place is not even marginally better. Free breakfast and very nice staff were the only pros to this place. Do yourself a big favor and drive a little further. Booking this was a mistake.

    « Great for kids »

Rooms were great/clean, Breakfast was awesome. When traveling from Miami to Maryland and vice versa, it's a perfect place to stop. The pool is clean and in good shape, there are a bunch of restaurants near by, and the value was great.

« Overnight stop off I-95 in SC »

This Best Western was very clean and well maintained. Check in was easy. We had no reservation. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom was small and slightly dated but very clean, plenty of towels. Amenities- coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, tv, free wifi, free breakfast, newspaper, ironing board, hair dryer. A restaurant is right next door. A small fitness room was also available and an outdoor pool. All units on first floor with parking in front of unit. Polite desk clerks. Overall a good experience.

    « Good Rest Stop »

This hotel is at the mid point of our dirve to Fla. We stayed both to Fl and from Fl 2 months later. Both stays were excellent. Quick check in, no hassles, clean room, everything worked and breakfast was great. All at a reasonable price. Keep it up!

« Walk to a great restaurant for dinner »

This hotel was the cleanest hotel we stayed in during our 17 day trip. The check in staff was very efficient. All of the rooms are on the first floor and you can park right at the door to your room. It was nicely furnished, had a microwave and refrigerator and very comfortable beds. Also has a very nice restaurant on the grounds that you can walk to.

Breakfast excellent but not much for vegans. Right next to Lake Marion Golf Course. Dated in some ways, but very nicely furnished. Could use a footstool. Terrific restaurant on the grounds, great seafood meals.

« Nice stopover on our trip »

The hotel is situated quite near the I95 so it was easy to find, all the staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, nice and comfy. Breakfast was included and was quite sufficient for our needs. The staff recommended the Captains Quarters restaurant that was adjacent to the hotel for dinner and we can promise that this was a really good recommendation. Don't miss it if you stay here.

    « Overnight halfway home »

Returning from Florida, Santee is a good halfway location to my home in Virginia. This hotel has very convenient parking at the door and a very good restaurant and shopping nearby. The hotel is well maintained and is usually available at a reasonable price. I have stayed there a number of times and have not had any complaints.

    « Disappointing response !!! »

This is a review for the stay I could not make. While a group of us have enjoyed our stay here for a local event each March for the past 3 years, the female manager made it abundantly clear recently that our group would not be welcome again this year. I believe it stems from a bad decision she made last year during our stay to clean the carpets in 4 (of our 16 total) rooms on the same day they were to be used. She tried to dry the carpets prior to their arrival around 5 PM, by cranking the heat up which resulted in rooms with temperatures in the upper 90s ? and the carpets were still leaching water when stepped upon. Her husband (co-manager) recognized how bad this was and ?comped' the room for those four members of our group. This was the culmination of a bad visit (unlike the prior 2 years) and was not the only problem. They relied on an employee (who is no longer with them) to handle our reservations and she placed us in rooms that were not as requested. Interestingly, another employee who made the reservations the prior year commented that she knew the reservations were not as we wanted. We worked through those issues and were able to more or less resolve the problems and I wrote a nice review ? particularly after the husband co-manager corrected the wet carpet problem. He also told me to contact him next year (this year now) and he would assure that our reservations would be as we desired. Well, after 3 weeks of attempting to contact him and leaving messages for call backs, I was directed to his wife. She appeared to know who I was and why I was calling. When I asked if we could again reserve the rooms, she quickly said the rate had increased (10+%) and we could not reserve several of the rooms on that side, as we had in the past, because they are now ?special' rooms. We come from all across the state and it is important that we are placed in the rooms in the back portion of the property adjacent to a grassy area, so we can set up chairs and visit. I don't know what could be any more ?special' than a group wanting to reserve a specific block of 18+ rooms for a weekend---the same group and same weekend from the previous 3 years. Although it has not been a problem the prior three years, it is now a problem. When I inquired about these changes her response was, ?things change?. I asked if it was something we had done in the past and she said it was not but that ?things change'. I believe she was upset that her husband ?comped' the rooms last year and she decided to punish us. I asked if she could tell me who the owners are and she refused saying they would say the same thing. We made a trip to Santee and have located another motel that is happy to have 18-20 rooms taken for the weekend. We will be there this year instead of celebrating our 4th year at the Best Western ? thanks to Mrs. Springs and her non-customer oriented approach.

« First time - will stay again »

This was our first time trying this motel for an overnight stay travelling to Orlando. I can only re-enforce the other positive reviews - just as advertised. Clean, quiet, well managed, great breakfast.

    « Don't hesitate »

There are lots on motels in Santee. This one is a winner. EZ off 95 and very clean. Stayed there on way to Florida. Not overly priced. Lots of restaurants nearby. Free breakfast . You won't be disappointed

    « Pitstop Stay »

Santee is the halfway mark on my way from FL to VA and I needed place to sleep and recharge. BW was great. All one story rooms which eliminated noise. The hotel is just off the I95 for just down far enough to avoid traffic noise. Plenty of places to eat & gas up. Service was nice, breakfast hit the spot and room was clean. Will make this the place to stop for next trip to VA.

    « Great location »

Another good Best Western. The room was very clean, the beds comfortable. It has a great restaurant right in the parking lot. Breakfast was standard but good. Will stay here again. The only complaint the person on duty that night just handed us our key, never gave us the wifi password and was not unpleasant but was not friendly either.

    5
    « Another Great Trip »

Never a disappointment. Bedding was comfortable and the room was clean. Parking at the door of every unit makes handicap access easy. The quick breakfast offered in the morning is good with more than adequate offerings for everyone.

« Great room for a great price. »

We have been staying at this same hotel for the last three years when we visit for the Grand American Coon Hunt in Orangeburg, SC. This is a great room for a great price. Rooms are always clean and the staff is very curtious. It's good to know that you can still get a good clean room for a great rate. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone passing through.

    « Highly Recommended! »

We stayed at this Santee, S.C. Best Western one other time and wanted to stay there again because the room was super clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was very nice. Our experience this time was no different! We always enjoy our stays at Best Westerns. We are never disappointed. There is a restaurant in the parking lot of the hotel (The Captains Quarters), that is very nice.

    5
    « Very comfortable stay »

Room was near the back of the property and across from a golf course so very quiet. A short drive took us to a nearby state park where we enjoyed a short hike to unwind from a long drive. Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast contained a variety of hot food options as well as the standard cereals and breakfast breads. Would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « A Very good Choice!!! »

We have no complaints with this old motel. It has been updated. The location near I 95 and across the street from gas stations, a convenience store and the best restaurant in the area; the Thai restaurant make this a solid choice. It is nice that you can park your car in front of your room and enter it directly. It certainly is a cut below those motels that were built in the last 10 years. Also the outdoor pool is very nice. We will probably stay here again.

    4
    « Nicely renovated hotel »

These rooms are ground floor entry pull in parking, i.e. a real motor inn, and so your bags pull into the room easily, no lifting. All the amenities worked and the beds were comfy. Since it is a renovation, the bathroom area is tight, it probably could not be reconfigured. Breakfast had a bigger size dining room and good variety of hot and cold items. A separate building houses the 3 smoking rooms and the pet owners' rooms with a lawn behind. The pool looked clean, big, and inviting even though it was winter. There is nice outside landscaping and a plantation like feel about the place. Of course we will be back.

    « Great Help »

I booked on-line and made an error. I booked the day before I planned on getting there. They corrected my error, to my advantage, with a big smile on their face. They were wonderful especially the young lady at the desk. She handled the problem professionally and is a credit to the Best Western PLUS Santeee Inn.

    « Great as Always »

    « Excellent Stay »

Have been staying here each year for the last 15 years for New Years. Expectations are high and our Family has never been disappointed. Complimentary breakfast is more than expected as while the offerings are limited, it provides a complete breakfast with eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, toast, pastry, etc...

    5
    « Nice and budget-friendly! »

The hotel is strategically located next to I-95, which makes it perfect for overnight stop from/to Florida. The room was very clean and everything was good, we enjoyed our quick stay. Complimentary breakfast was included, and it was quite hearty - I especially appreciated freshly made scrambled eggs and fruits.

    « Surprised »

Was doubtful about staying at a Best Western due to past experiences but this property was very nicely decorated inside and out. Pleasant staff. Clean and very well maintained. Room was clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast was good but maybe could use some fresh fruit. No complaints.

« Good location and clean »

Stayed here a few times on our way to Fla from NJ. Great location and restaurants in area; clean and neat rooms; helpful staff. We know we will have a good stay and depend upon this BW ever since we found out about it from friends. Highly recommended.

« Wonderful Stay After Being on the Road all Day »

Love this hotel. All rooms are on one level with parking in front of your room. Rooms are very clean with great beds. We have stayed numerous times here because we know what we are going to get for our money. They are right off the highway but it is a quiet area with lovely grounds. We arrange our drive so that we can make this our stop for the night on our way to Florida. Excellent breakfast. Cant say a thing bad about this place. Must add they have a very friendly staff.

    3
« Disappointing stay -- how is this a PLUS? »

Very disappointed with our stay here. We had stayed at a Best Western in Venice, FL and were extremely impressed. While the Santee BW is a charming, throwback style ground-level motel with a lovely pool, the hotel is in desperate need of some updating and attention to detail with respect to cleanliness, etc. Our room was pleasantly decorated yet had a strong smell of bleach. I'm not sure where that was coming from because the bathroom actually had shower tile that needed cleaning. Additionally, the lighting in the bathroom was so inadequate that one could barely see while in the shower. I'm uncertain how this location qualifies as a BW PLUS. At any rate, I would not stop here again on my way to/from Florida. While it is certainly good enough, I don't think that is the standard one should aim for.

    5
« Excellent value, Great quality »

This is a very nice place to stay. I recommend it highly. Bed was very comfortable. Free breakfast seals the deal. All rooms are at ground level so you park directly outside your room. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

    « Good Experience »

Room was large and clean. Very good restaurant right next door. It was a short walk from the room and reasonably priced. We left too early for the breakfast but they let us in to get coffee to go which was very good.

    « Pleasure »

This hotel is all on one floor. You have parking in front of your door. This hotel has one of the most beautiful dining rooms for breakfast... They have a very large selection including a hot breakfast if you prefer. They have a restaurant called "The Captains Quarters" which serves seafood, steaks and you can even get hamburgers and wings. They also have a lounge where you can get a cocktail.

« Santee Inn Best Western Motel »

Clean and comfortable. The motel is located next to the Interstate. Easy on and off. The room was quiet. Motel has swimming pool, but it was to cold to swim. Laundry facilities on premises. Breakfast served at the motel. Their are a large number of restaurants within walking distance.

    5
    « Nice Overnight Stop »

I've stayed here often on trips up/dwn east coast. Best value for the money. Staff is excellent, the breakfast is good and always hot. Very easy to find, right of I95 and quick return when leaving. Good selection of places to eat close by.

    « Will stop again! »

This hotel is clean, our room was large and the included breakfast was a nice start to our day. The desk staff are friendly and Mary was really nice, explaining where we should park because we are pulling a small trailered dinghy. We will stop here again on our trip North in April. Also there is a nice restaurant within walking distance, Captains Quarters.

    5
    « Affordable gem »

Renovated rooms, lovely southern charm to common areas, and much cheaper than other chain hotels. Very comfortable. Doors do open to the outdoors (motel style) but allows you to park right outside your room and lessens noise. Very courteous staff. Much more value for your $ than other options nearby.

    « It's OK, but not "Plus" »

We spent the night at this Best Western as a stopover while driving between southern Florida and southeast Pennsylvania. We were simply underwhelmed with the hotel. The room was clean, but the overall feel was the room was due for a renovation. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were little squares that looked more like over-sized after-dinner mints than pillows. There was no desk to work at, only a table, with no outlets nearby and an ill-matched chair. One plus was the WiFi - it supports both 2.8 GHz and 5 GHz (dual-band) access. On the other hand, the TV was a minus. since when does any motel, hotel, residence, or whatever not have HGTV in their lineup? Actually, we can survive without a nightly dose of House Hunters, but the channel offerings were amazingly limited. It's not that we came to watch a lot of TV, but the small list was another symptom of "it's OK, but it's not 'plus'". Breakfast was, again, just OK. And that's really the summary of the experience: OK but not plus. Unfortunately, the bill was "plus". Next time we come through the area, we'll study our options far more closely.

    5
« Nice, comfortable overnight stay »

We were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We weren't expecting much for the price but we ended up having a very nice, comfortable overnight stay in a comfortable, clean room. Everything was well maintained, clean, and the staff was friendly. Some positives: you park at your door, large tv in the room, super comfy pillows, quiet, close to several restaurants, and nice powerful shower heads (that matters to some people like me!). Negatives: bathroom could use some updating but it was still very clean. Overall, great stay, we would stay again for sure.

staff was cheerful and glad to assist in any way possible when asked, and also checked to be sure things were ok. with our 18 month old grandson with us, he left more food on the floor than he ate, and the lady taking care of the breakfast bar took care of it and was admiring him. tipped for the extra work , was on the higher end price wise, but worth it.

« Very good value for your dollar! »

The hotel looks to be a refurbished motor court with doors direct to the outside.-- your parking is literally at your door. No interior hallways here. If you need ice, you got to go outside. The staff is friendly and efficient, and check-in was quick. in fact, our remote control was not programmed so I called the front desk and the lady immediately offered to bring one to our room. For it's age, this Best Western holds up reasonably well. The room was clean, quiet with a mini-fridge, microwave and small coffeemaker. Regular coffee and tea available. The in-room wi-fi is free and worked fine. The beds were very comfortable. The bath set-up was typical of old hotels -- sink and mirror adjacent to a separate toilet and bath/shower -- though it's an older bathroom an attempt as a makeover was made with little success. Breakfast was good and overall it is a good deal. I just wish that the renovations would have been more consistent.

    « Good Recomendation »

    « Fantastic Overnight Stay »

My wife & I were travelling to Chapel Hill for Thanksgiving. We usually stop in Santee as our overnight way station. Based on some Trip Advisor reviews we decided to stay at the Best Western this time as it was considerably less expensive than the competition. And you know what......it was FANTASTIC! Immaculately clean, well maintained, spacios, attentive staff, solid complementary breakfast. Thank you to the previous Trip Advisor Honest reviewers who persuaded us to stay there. And thank you to the Best Western, Santee, S.C. for a great night's stay.

    « An Overnight Stay »

This was a short stay after a long day on the road -- a one-night layover, en route to a Thanksgiving family reunion. This exit (#98) is always busy, so you don't get the feeling of being in a remote spot off I-95. The hotel looks to be a refurbished motor court with doors direct to the outside.-- your parking is literally at your door. No interior hallways here. The staff was friendly and efficient, and check-in was quick. For it's age, this Best Western holds up well. The room was clean, quiet and nicely appointed with a mini-fridge, microwave and small coffeemaker. Regular and decaf coffee and caffeinated tea (bring your own decaf) were available. The in-room wi-fi is free and worked fine. My brother and I shared Rm 132A -- a double bed room (queens) for under $80 a night (pre-tax). The beds were very comfortable. The bath set-up was typical of older hotels -- sink and mirror adjacent to a separate toilet and bath/shower -- though it's an older bathroom it's received a recent makeover, and the water pressure was good. We didn't eat there, so can't speak to the free breakfast that came with the room, but the breakfast set-up looked familiar. All in all, a fair value and easy-on-off stop for motorists who want to get off I-95. I'm not normally a big fan of Best Westerns, but I would stay here again, and would recommend it to others as a safe, comfortable hotel that's a step above the two-stars. NOTE: This review is based on my independent opinions and observations. I have NO connection to Best Western or any of its franchisees. I received NO compensation for this posting.

After stopping at another hotel in Santee that didn't stand up to its rating, we decided to try this location. So glad that we did. The office was clean and up-to-date. The check-in was flawless, and the room was delightful after a day's long drive. We have no need to stop anywhere else!

    « BW Plus minus »

This hotel has a convenient location right off 95. Restaurant on site. Nice property and pool area. The room is comfortable, good shower but PLUS not really. I have stayed in several Best Western Plus this one is just a regular Best Western Property. Frayed towels the bare essentials of soap and shampoo. Room was clean and had a frig and micro. I expected a little more from a Plus otherwise it was just fine.

    « Comfortable Surprise »

We were so pleased that there was a restaurant on the same property that was not a chain and offered good food. This best Western had a pleasant staff, comfortable beds in well appointed rooms. There was a good selection of breakfast items. They did a good remodeling job. We were happy to park right in front of our room. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area or driving N-S.

After driving over 10 hours from FL this was a convenient and perfect hotel for our family of 4. Food choices nearby were good for dinner, and the morning breakfast was clean and ample. They even have a heated pool! Room was clean and fully prepped for our unexpected stay. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

I had stayed at the Best Western Plus previously and had reserved a room for an annual trip I make north from Florida. Arrived early evening, no problems with check-in, room was clean as could be. Next door is the Captain's Quarters Restaurant, had dinner. I would stay there again. It was exactly what I expected for the price.

« Found wet unchanged bed »

When I informed front desk person she was defensive and said she could only refund my money instead of giving me another room. I requested she do so whereupon she said then she would call the general manager. I waited and presently was informed they would give me another room. There was no apology and it appeared that she believed the problem was caused by me. She asked if something was dripping from the ceiling. The bed covering was dry but only when I pulled back the covers did I discover this wet round spot. She suggested it was damp sheets. No. It was a definite wet round spot. It was clear to me the bed had not been changed

« Golfing in Santee Again »

The Best Western here in Santee is probably the best place to stay, always clean, maintained, great breakfast and staff that will always provide great service. Weather it be an overnight or a week stay like mine...you will not be disappointed.

    « not quite a Plus hotel »

several check-in problems for us and other guests (many arrivals at same time), some had reservations, other did not. Almost non-existent water pressure in sink and noisy bathroom fan. Thank goodness for housekeeping staff who helped to coordinate rooms.

    « A terrific value »

This is a very attractive, very clean hotel. The staff is pleasant and the breakfast buffet was very nice and very fresh. I would (and am) staying here again. It is conveniently located with easy on / off access to I95.

    « Back again..... »

I have stayed at this hotel several times while traveling from Canada to Florida. It is an easy on/off I-95. Any staff I came in contact with were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless, lovely decor and comfortable bed. Loved that there was a large desk, and comfortable desk chair for all my computer needs. Good internet service. I have always had a pleasant experience in this hotel and will definitely be back. One suggestion......breakfast can be very busy in this hotel so I suggest and early breakfast if you are at all anxious to get one road.

    « Hotel Beware »

Warning if you stay at this hotel you will need to protect yourself from the maids. Take Digital Photographs of the room with someone from the front desk before you check out. Anything they damage while cleaning your room will be billed to your credit card. Also if you stay more than one day never leave anything in your room, we came back to find the door OPEN to the STREET with the DO NOT DISTURB sign still on the door. If you want to watch TV, you will need your on DVD player, their cable system has so much interference the rolling lines will make you ill to watch. Nice pool but plan on cleaning the bugs out yourself. The exercise machine is a joke. You will also need air freshener to cover up the smell from septic system or something. Having your car next to your door is great unfortunately groups of drunk golfers can also gather at your door to party in the middle of the night. Plan on shaving in the shower since the flow restrictor on the sink will not let enough water out to wash off your razor.

    « Could be a bit cheaper price-wise. »

When you walk into the room, you become overwhelmed by the decor. It is very nicely furnished. However, when you look a little closer, you see scuff marks on the walls, with remains of dead bugs, which is never something you want to see, especially for a restaurant you paid a bit more for so you wouldn't have to worry about any bug problems. As was said in previous reviews, it is a bit on the smaller side, especially in the bathroom, but it's not bad. The sheets seem a little damp, I'm wondering if that's just the humidity. Otherwise the bed is pretty comfortable. That being said, I wonder if the price is due to the well-kept pool, and the golf course right next door. I have not used these amenities, but I am also on a trip from Florida back to Jersey. I suppose people staying here, enjoying these things, would think the price is worth it. Overall, I feel like if you give the rooms a once over everyday to check for bugs (dead or alive), it would probably closer to your asking for. Just make sure it's show-ready! *i hadn't had much chance to interact with the staff, but when my mother was at the front desk, they seemed extremely courteous towards her.* ( also air fresheners might be a good idea, because someone smoked in this non-smoking room)

    « Quaint place »

Older style Motel, single floor with outside room access. Not bad for a place right off the highway, but the person that checked me in would be my vote for grumpiest BW employee of the year. She also treated my business associate even worse. That just made the stay uncomfortable, but the morning breakfast was good. I stayed 4 nights so overall not too impressed. So much for southern hospitality.

« Good place to stop while drivng »

This Best Western Plus had excellent bed for a good night's sleep. The room and Lobby were clean. Next door was an excellent restaurant, The Captain's Quarter. You can walk there. We will stay here again when driving through. Less than one hour drive to Charleston, SC.

    « Oldie but goodie »

This is an older facility with every room on the first floor and doors to rooms facing the parking lot. It makes it extremely convenient to unload the car. The room was very clean and the bed has a pillow top so it was quite comfortable. We will stay here again when we head North.

    « Great value »

This older but extremely clean and nice Motel is a little GEM. located right next to a golf course if you like golf. Also located near Santee River which is well known for its great fishing. I stay there quite often when in the area. I am typically there on Business. Some good restaurants in the area also.

« Good place to stay over. »

The hotel was a good stay over. My wife and I were satisfied with the amenities. We had some good restaurants nearby to eat out. We eat at Pizza Hut almost across the street from the hotel. Real good. The price for the hotel room was in the ball park. Our hot breakfast was excellent.

    « Mr. & Mrs. »

This motel is half way between our PA and FL homes. It is always clean and quiet. The beds are comfortable and showers have plenty of warm and soft water. The breakfast is great. We make it a point to always stay at Best Western but all BW's are not equal.

« Nice Find off of Route 95 »

Clean, comfortable, friendly staff and right off Route 95. Restaurant is excellent and so is the breakfast. A delightful find have been coming here for several years. on our way to Florida. Perfect place to stop and relax.

    « Golf Trip »

Once again this is probably the best hotel in the area to stay. This was a very wet weekend with all of the rain that was dumped over the South Carolina area. The staff go the extra mile to make you stay a pleasant one.

    « It's fine, not special »

It's a recently refurbished older motel. It's nice, not outstanding, but nice. I might stay there again or I might look for a better value. The tub/toilet area was cramped, but the room was spacious enough. Seems to attract drive through travelers and old men golfers.

    « Spotless rooms »

The hotel staff arriving and departing were polite and courteous. Our room was spotless and all amenities were in place. There is even a small closet should we have needed one. The internet worked properly. The breakfast was appetizing and the kitchen staff was polite. The lobby was cozy and the restrooms were very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for one night or more.

« Good accommodations for the price »

The room including bath was very clean (although there was some painting needed over some recent repairs in the bathroom). The room had a small refrigerator which was handy for storing soft drinks and some snacks. Breakfast was free, but unremarkable. The eggs and sausage were processed tasting and cold although there was yogurt available as an option.
