Above expectation. Room were nice and clean. It had everything I needed for my working station. I called maintenance. They came in and fixed the problem. Went late for breakfast and the lady assisted me with everything I wanted.

"Our stay at Best Western 500 Ocean Blvd Santa Cruz"
aasantoscoy, 19 Février 2024

The service was ok. The room was terrible It was dirty. The toilet seat was dirty, Mold on the shower glass, hair in the shower, dead bug in the corner of the bathroom and furniture was dusty. You could hear all the noise from the room above and everything from people passing by in the hall way.

This Best Western was amazing. Hospitable, great breakfast, amazing staff and the price is right. We had a special needs dog and everyone was so sweet to him, which we really appreciated. I would stay here again.

"No room service"
Francesc2137, 19 Octobre 2023

The room service never came despite I asked to be done. No towel change no nothing. I asked for refund and explanation nothing was given to me. Horrible experience for me and my family . Will never go back to best western

"Great stay"
marti695, 28 Septembre 2023

Fully renovated and large rooms with plenty of room to work. Convenient access to Highway 17. Was able to park directly in the parking garage and convenient to local restaurants for dinner. Would recommend.

"Not a usual best Western plus experience"
charlesstuttig, 01 Septembre 2023

We were not greeted as rewards members. When asked for our bonus gift we were told we could take a bottle of water or points. There was a coffee stain on the wall in the bathroom. We did not have enough towels or washcloths in our room. This was remedied when we asked at the front desk. The set up of the room was odd there was no place to hang a dress as the closet only accommodated shirts or jackets. There was poor lighting in the room. The only place there was Amira was in the bathroom. There was only one night table on one side of the bed even though the room was quite large. Breakfast room was also set up very oddly. Milk for cereal was in another section of the room by the waffle maker. Although they advertised a menu for breakfast it was not adhered to. The woman Laura working the breakfast area was fantastic but it was too much work for one person to do. Although there were three cereal containers they only had two types of sugary cereal. They seem to be missing the raisin bran. They ran out of waffle batter. There was no Coffee pot but rather a machine that dispensed one cup at a time. This caused a line for coffee at breakfast. There Wasn't a pad of paper or pens in the room and when I asked at the front desk I was given one sheet from the best western pad of paper. This was our first travel since the pandemic and was not the type of experience we have usually found at best Western plus. This hotel needs to make changes to maintain their plus status.

"Disappointed with Best Western in Santa Cruz"
jcnolan57, 13 Août 2023

If you're ok with your room being unclean and incomplete, this is your spot. Also doesn't look like the pictures on the website. The manager was friendly and helpful as was the maintenance man, not the rest of the staff. Not my typical experience in a BW.

"Surface boost, actual falter"
ramblerfood, 03 Août 2023

Have stayed here several times and will again despite the dip in service. Although the property was recently renovated the experience was not as good. Sadly the room cleanliness lacked, the light colored vinyl or laminate floors are much preferred for allergens and cleanliness but show everything as our room had various items including several dead bugs right inside the door against the wall to the next room. The sheets were ripped, the comforter between the sheets and bedspread had a 12 inch in diameter yellow stain (pee maybe?), and the bathroom had mold issues which may be hindered the very loud and poorly working fan. Breakfast quality has taken a dive. Previously there were open windows for the breakfast staff to communicate with guests but the renovation made those windows now walls. The coffee and beverage area are tucked around the hall to the elevator completely away from the rest of the breakfast area so it took us a while to find it. There is only a single coffee machine so a long line forms as people try to figure out the machine and then wait for their latte, etc. to brew. There were limited hot items including a bell pepper studded omelet (didn't try it as it contained cheese), bacon, some kind of potato (unsure it allergen friendly), and make your own waffles. No hard boiled eggs, cheese. There is a yogurt machine but it was out of service (sadly this means no choice of flavors or plain/unsweetened options). Alternative diet items are not labeled (chex didn't say what kind it was, found a gluten free oatmeal option mixed in with the others) or not advertised (discovered vanilla soy milk was available by asking). Sadly, due to the volume of the guests, the lone breakfast server Laura (fabulous and congenial as always), tried her best to keep refilling (hot items, napkins, utensils) and had to deal with shortages (someone didn't order milk and the notified manager hadn't made it to the hotel by 9 to bring any--sorry guy who I saw with a dry cereal bowl wandering around and opting not to use the chocolate milk--only option available). We have always like staying here because of the breakfast, location, and value but it is not what it used to be. Unfortunate.

"Bad News Hotel!"
C158EVthomast, 31 Juillet 2023

Be prepared for a $25 charge for early check in and an additional $100 Deposit”. And the parking garage was made for mini-coopers and filled with large SUV's with hardly enough room to park. I had to get out with all my things before my husband parked the car because there was not enough space to open doors on both sides. Horrible setup so be sure to have a tiny car if you want to stay here. The second night, we were out all day and arrived back at the hotel about 9pme. There was no one manning the front desk and we had only 1 washcloth in our room and wanted a second one (for 2 people). We could see there was a room behind the front desk with shelving that held extra towels and washcloths. FINALLY, the same girl showed up and disappeared looking for housekeeping? To get us a washcloth instead of getting one from the room right there. We never did get another wash cloth because..... We got tired of waiting and went on up to ur room. Tried to use the toilet and it started to leak badly. We tried calling room service but no one answered so apparently there is no such thing. Called several times to the front desk BUT NO ONE EVER ANSWERED. My husband finally went back down to the front desk where there were several people waiting for help. Eventually he got the same young woman who said there was no one to help with the toilet so she would have to put us in another room. By now it is 9:30 and we really are exhausted. I went back down and was given a new room key on the next floor up and so far from the elevator and stairs! The same girl had offered to get us a rolling rack for our luggage to help with the move. Disappeared again, we got tired of waiting and trudged up to the new room totally exhausted by then. A two-room suite that was ot as good as our first room! First room quiet, second on a busy street with a LOT of noisy traffic! Heard music a good part of the night coming from somewhere. Horrible “Suite”! Another young couple with a small child was being moved to a new room at the same time and very displeased as well. In the morning we had to take showers where THERE WAS NO SHOWER CURTAIN, and no bathmat either. We chose not to get completely dressed and go down searching for an employee at 6:30 in the morning to get a shower curtain, knowing they didn't answer the phone and probably no one at the front desk and we didn't have time to waste waiting another 1/2 hour. Took showers which of course flooded the floor! Had we used all the towels to sop up the water. Considered the quilt on the bed but we probably would have been charged that $100 fee for damages. Towels such as there were, were thin and looked more like Motel 6. The coffee pot had not been cleaned and still had a pod in it! Breakfast was cereal & fruit and not what we are used to in Ashland Oregon at Best Wesern Windsor Inn, with a full service array including eggs, sausage and hash browns. Really – DO NOT stay at this understaffed, sub-standard hotel!

"Great place with Super Friendly Staff"
drarnilsen, 21 Juillet 2023

This is a great place to stay. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Breakfast was awesome. Coffee was available whenever I wanted along with hot cocoa for kids. Staff was accepting of my dog. I enjoyed my stay and will stay again.

"Unsafe, dirty and smells horrible"
betteratthebeach2018, 16 Juillet 2023

Our room immediately smelled like bug spray or leather car freshener. I was told it was cleaning products. It made us nauseous. It definitely was not cleaning products. The deadbolt didn't work, we weren't able to move rooms per the manager. We felt unsafe. The bathroom has dirty marks behind the door the towels were worn to see through status and stained, and dirty piles of stuff in the corner. There was no screen on window and it opened all the way. Scary when traveling with small kids.

"Great housekeeping, terrible management"
foxfamceleste, 09 Juillet 2023

The management assigned us a room that was not cleaned and then proceeded to have us wait an hour for it to be cleaned instead of assigning us a new room. The parking garage is small and we paid a spot for the night and we returned from dinner to find no spots available despite us paying for our spot.

"A true professional manager"
Jason O, 17 Juin 2023

Vanessa Amaral, was an amazing manager. From the time we arrived she was prepared with our rooms and extremely friendly, she made us feel like we were visiting a family member. She and the staff went out of their way to help us and feel welcomed. We asked about surfing and they helped us out finding rentals and even where to take a lesson. The breakfast staff was very happy to say good morning. The hotel was a beautiful open floor plan and clean. This is a five star hotel at a family friendly price. Thank you for everything.

"I love Santa Cruz"
wickedpoppyz, 13 Novembre 2022

I was impressed with the location of the Inn. It was a ten minute walk to downtown and about 20 minutes to the Boardwalk. The sandwich shop across the street was delicious and gas was right there to fill up before you continue on your journey. I was also able to walk to the bank. I had no need to get in my car to enjoy the Beach. I go to Best Westerns because they provide a really great breakfast to get you going to explore the day without having to worry about where to get food and coffee. I felt safe and comfortable.

"Newly renovated hotel"
Piper804, 27 Septembre 2022

Newly renovated hotel. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Bed super comfy!! The breakfast was good and had many options to choose from. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit difficult due to construction/repaving parking lot.

"Not worth the price"
olmostded, 20 Septembre 2022

For the price we paid for staying at Best Western, I would have at least expected a cleaner room that doesn't have a current water damage issue. The wall behind the TV was dripping water, most likely from a pipe in the wall, but who knows. The walls and curtains had obvious stains that make me question whether or not they're actually taking the time to clean the rooms. I noticed the obvious stains on the curtains when i went over to open the window (which offered us a view of a wall in a dark hallway). The only positive thing I can say is that breakfast was good, lots of options.

"Not a lot of hot water"
mackenzierobison, 26 Août 2022

For the price of staying at this hotel, it is not worth it...Property is poorly maintained with paint peeling off of the walls and unfinished paint jobs in the rooms. In addition, the room we stayed in didn't even have enough hot water to supply a 10 minute shower. The only redeeming part of our stay was the first room we were put in in reeked of covered up cigarette smoke and I requested another room and they happily accommodated my request. Glad we were able to change rooms anyways, because the first room we were in was on the bottom floor along the border of the lobby -- not a great place for a hotel room, in my opinion! The location of this hotel makes it convenient and walkable to downtown Santa Cruz and a few good restaurants, but honestly wish I would have spent the extra $20-$40/night to stay elsewhere. Won't be staying here again and likely will avoid Best Westerns in general.

"disgusting x pathetic"
alive2thrive2017, 21 Août 2022

There is NOTHING good about this box built on a parking garage. There is no entrance, the room was dirty and small. the bedside table so small couldn't put a cpap and your phone. No pugs in the lamps so had to unplug the clock to charge phone. One small office chair, tv remote crap, hall ways dirty, hallways really dirty, looks unvacuumed for weeks, bugs on ceiling, shower luke warm... WoW. it is unbelievable and all for the cheapest rate of $412 for a king and sofa sleeper. Any good reviews are from hotel schills and Bots. More: the bacon was floating in half inch of grease, eggs were typical powdered but dripping water with every bite. The dining tables so small just enough room for 4 but w 4 chairs. The DUDE serving breakfasts clearly a Meth head with very dirty clothes. I have pics of it all but can't figure out how to upload any on Tripadvisor. Oh yes and the Hot tub: empty, and crazy dirty. There is more but Nuff said.

"Loud and broken"
STEarl79, 16 Août 2022

The halls were extremely loud until early morning. Didn't have sofa sleeper like they said, motion light so when we moved at night bright light came on, no hot water, very low water pressure, extremely loose toilet, broken curtains a breakfast was not good at all

"Definitely will be back."
Mbec22, 07 Août 2022

Great price for the room! We had a king suite and the hotel is currently being remodeled so we got a nice remodeled room. The breakfast options are great. We had something different every morning. Definitely will be booking here again next time we visit Santa Cruz

"Pitiful from start to finish"
LovinSanDiego, 21 Juin 2022

Wow! I have not seen a hotel fail in so many areas, possibly ever! They have a parking garage with no mention there is a fee, which you find out about once you've schlepped your luggage a half block up a steep sidewalk to get to the front door. They have an elevator but it only accessible once you've checked in and been surprised by the parking fee. The front desk person was “filling in” and she was clueless, but very nice and tried her best, as did a man who worked there who I assume was maintenance. Next, we find out the jacuzzi is down during renovation. What, they are renovating?!! First we heard of it. Next, we get to our floor after going on a hunt for a bell cart (with a flat tire) only to find no flooring in the hallways, or baseboards and a paint job apparently somewhere in the middle of being done. We were told we had a renovated room, but once in the room had to call the front desk to change rooms. Our “newly renovated” room smelled of mold, the shower was dripping a dithered were numerous stains and mold in the shower. The only chair in the room was torn to shreds. Seriously! There were no electrical outlets near the bed even though they just renovated. The countertop was stained, melted in one spot and dirty. Eewww! So, we were shown a different renovated room with too much gap in the door where about a 1/4” gap showed light from the hallway and the sounds of the ice machine and guests walking in the hallway. It had other issues too, so we requested to see a third room and finally accepted it. It was also renovated, but the toilet leaked substantially so the water had to be turned off and only turned on to flush and refill but then there was a flooded bathroom floor. There was no microwave, very few electrical outlets in difficult to reach places. The new sofa sagged, the TV remote did not work and the mattress was awful. Both my husband and I awoke with sore backs to the honking and heavy traffic noises starting at 6am. The renovated rooms were done in 80's decor in the breakfast area and decorated very poorly in the rooms. We went to tell the front desk we were checking out the next morning and the front desk clerk was “filling in” (the second clerk we had who knew nothing) and told us they showed no one by our name staying in the hotel! We walked out! I urge you to pick another hotel! There are too many good ones who get it right and this hotel was significantly overpriced, especially considering they were under renovation! Is it even legal to rent to customers when they have no working smoke detectors in the rooms? Isn't that required by law?! Please, do not stay here. Pick another hotel! We stayed June 2022.

"Unexpected stay"
josegomez825, 29 Janvier 2022

It was an enjoyable stay! The room was a mini suite with lots of room. I was surprised with all the space it was bigger than any other motel that we have stayed in. DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK! Will also recommend to family and friends!

"A Basic Place to Stay"
Lightning21, 23 Septembre 2021

The hotel is located on a main street. It features covered parking below the hotel. The room had a microwave and refrigerator. The internet speed was good and measured at 9.97 Mbps download, 3.07 Mbps upload, with 11 ms latency. However the wifi would get interrupted and was proven to be somewhat unreliable during our stay. The room only had one luggage rack, which is becoming a trend, so if you have two suitcases on will need to take up a chair or sit on the floor. The sink is located outside of the bathroom. The hotel had no wash cloths. They said they had been "backordered" for months. I guess they never heard of Target or Walmart. Upon checking in, the first room we were given smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. This room had a small bathroom where you would need to step into the shower in order to be able to close the bathroom door. Fortunately they moved us to another room of the same type since it is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. This one did not stink and we were also happy to see that the bathroom was not too small. The hotel is in need of some maintenance as the toilet paper holder was not properly secured to the wall. The toilet featured a power flush that would splash the seat and floor if the lid was not closed prior to flushing. They had a modified grab and go breakfast available. It is also not that long of a walk to the Santa Cruz Dinner if you are in the mood for a sit down breakfast. The Thai restaurant across the street serves good food. There was a noticeable homeless population living in the surrounding area. The hotel was a bit pricey when we stayed.

"Comfortable and Safe"
fcline2016, 07 Septembre 2021

With so many unhoused persons loitering around Santa Cruz, this interior corridor property felt relatively safe. Parking did not feel safe, though. Anyone can walk in from the street and tamper with the vehicles. Not enough parking for the size of the hotel. There are 10 fewer spaces than available rooms as per the hotel staff's description. I had to park on the street two of the three nights I was there. The streets around the hotel are full of wandering unhoused people. Breakfast was bad for diabetics and people who are otherwise concerned about their health. Almost every single item was low fiber and added sugar.

"Do not stay here"
fishygirl9235, 19 Août 2021

This hotel is a disgrace to the best western brand. It is understaffed and filthy. Insufficient towels, AC not functioning. The front desk clerk, Rudy, was wonderful. However, there was not sufficient staff for a hotel of this size.

"Falsely accused afterwards"
JoeynShell18, 17 Août 2021

Me an 3 of my family members were on our way home from spending a great day at the Wilderness water park for my son's 13th birthday. We were tired an checked in at the Best western in Morristown TN. We arrived around 10pm. My mother went in an payed so we stayed. After being home over 2weeks now. My mother got her bank statement and noticed that there were 2 charges. One charge was for the stay that was agreed upon of $103.00 then there was another charge for 175 .00. She just called and they said it was for smoking in the room. No one smoked in that room. There's noway I would ever give them that satisfaction. I already knew that u would get charged if you smoked in the room but, I didn't know they were saying it to so many people. This is so wrong. My goodness this motel is making a ton of cash without having to steal and lie for it. This is observed. People contact your cardholder b4 u ever stay at a Best western.

"Worse Customer Service Ever"
Mffuller, 04 Août 2021

I booked a room with best way is um with Best Western plus suites in Santa Cruz California approximately 2 months before my arrival. I was aware of the $100 deposit and that my card would be used online to hold the room . I called the motel to confirm that my room had a jetted tub because it was not clear on the website I also asked if I could pay cash when I arrived and I was told yes . I suffer from Severe arthritis 8 bulging disk and migraines it is imperative that I have a hot tub in order for me to sleep and not be excessive pain. Upon our arrival I was asked for my credit card for a $100 deposit which I was fine with and I wasn't fine with them putting a hold on my funds in my bank for the entire cost of my stay totalling $1100.00, this is not mentioned in their policies.. My booking confirmation says there's no prepayment required and I was told when I called that I could pay cash . The manager refused to take my cash and ultimately I ended up putting money on my daughter's card. They charge the full amount of my stay which would be a prepayment on her card otherwise all my funds would have been held up by them on my vacation had I put it in my bank account. We finally made it to our room and it was filthy we left and went out for the evening and when we returned to our room I filled the hot tub up. I had to cleaned it first because it was filthy and the jets didn't come on there's a timer and a button that we're both pushed several times and the jets never came on there's no instructions in room on how to operate the jetted tube. At this point it's approximately 11:30 at night I go down to the front desk and explain what's going on, the desk guy gave me keys to another room he followed us up to room I assume he tried to turn the jetted tub on, being that was my complaint. I say assume because I was busy packing all our stuff up to go to the other room. If he turned it on and it was working there would be no reason to move me to another room I assume he also found that it wasn't working when we arrived in the new room it was smaller and had no jetta tub It was late at this point I just wanted to go to bed when I folded out the couch bed add no pillows no sheets no blankets . I made my way back down to the front desk and requested a pillow and sheets. The room was old and dirty, large sticky brown stains on carpet, you could tell nothing had been cleaned the counter tops had crumbs and sticky stuff smeared all over them. I immediately emailed the motel manager.about my concerns. The following day we left for the day and went about our vacation plans I never heard back from the hotel. We got back late again I didn't sleep the couch mattress was extremely uncomfortable if you lean to one side the whole bed would tip up on its side there was stains all over it. The next day Wednesday the 28th I called he returned to my call we played phone tag for a little bit I ended up talking to him ( Dan Sunda) Dan tells me that him and the maintenance guy went up to the room and the hot tub works just fine I asked him why he did not contact me and he said he did not want to wake me up so he rented it to somebody else . He claimed I was up all night and I must have been sleeping he also asked me what time I went to complain about the hot tub and suggested that I was down there at 3:00 in the morning which is a lie and ask me why I did not put a complaint in during normal business hours well to my knowledge the hotel desk is open 24 hours and I did indeed contact him immediately that morning Dan announced he was going to look at his surveillance cameras, suggesting I was lying about the time I went to front desk. This is super Insulting and him dictating my sleeping hours and when I should be awake and not it's also insulting and intrusive. I'm on vacation with two 15 year old girls I did not sleep the night before because it's the night before because of the extremely uncomfortable bed I was forced to sleep on. . So now he has held up $1100 of my funds. II now have a room with no jetta tub hes rented my room out that I paid for and has no intention of resolving anything or producing some kind of refund he suggested that I was harassing him and his staff, suggested that I leave the hotel telling me that I had issues He has ruined my vacation that I spent over a year saving up for he is intrusive he is aggressive he is not willing to resolve any issues he was judgmental he made remarks about my income status and my character. He has insulted me. I asked for a receipt when I checked out of the motel and I was told to get one from booking.com I am still waiting for a receipt from the property I had a problem parking due to the parking spaces were made for mini cars the security in the parking lot was rude when I asked him for help backing me into a space. The place was filthy, nothing worked and horrible customer service. I want a refund I paid for a room that I did not get to enjoy I was insulted and humiliated in front of other guests, my kids and hotel staff. I was looking at reviews for that hotel there was atleast three other reviews from the same week I was there complaining the jetted tubs did not work. I have attached screenshoots of reviews. I tried resolving this with the motel directly with no results, no intent to resolve..in fact he has blocked me from his work email. I deserve a refund. I've been employed with the state almost 20 years now, i travel often for work, I will not be staying at your Hotel again, I'm also aware of check in policies and the management is not following them, he is very rude and is not keeping the Hotel in good condition. I have never experienced such vile behavior from any establishment I've visited. The reviews confirm it. 2505342877 confirmation # Best Western Plus Suites 500 ocean st Santa Cruz Ca 7-26-21 thru 7-30-21 Dan Sanda (manager) Michelle Fuller

"Newer looking building is dirty and furniture is worn and stained"
Pond_h0ckey, 03 Août 2021

I would recommend choosing another place. This may have once been a good choice but the hotel has seen better days. Building needs a deep clean from top to bottom and room had dirty carpet with dirty and staned and broken sofa bed. Location is good, parking is good, there seems to be promise for new management.

"This property is not in the best condition."
Wantedtowritecurses, 25 Juillet 2021

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel. At check in, I was advised that, in addition to my Friday night fee totaling $315, I would be charged an additional $100 on my credit card in case I damaged the room. This fee might be refunded within 7 days of my stay. The clerk advised me that the fee is "standard procedure," but I travel quite a bit - at least I used to pre-covid - and I do not find this to be standard procedure at all. After checking in, I took a cart to the garage to fetch my baggage. The door between the garage and the elevator is controlled by the room key, and mine did not work. A kind young man who worked at the hotel let me in. I took my cart up to my second floor room, and my key did not work on the door to my room either. So I had to lug my cart downstairs and wait in line for another 20 minutes at the check in desk to obtain a key that worked. Returning to my room, I decided to watch some of the Olympics on TV, however the TV also did not work. My room was shabby and poorly laid out. The furniture was knicked and dinged. The paint was chipped in many places. The carpet was stained. There was hair on my bed that did not belong to me. And the sink was not even in the bathroom. There was only 1 good thing about this hotel; the lady who dispensed the breakfast items was very generous. Oh, and by the way - this hotel hides the tea, so if you are a tea drinker rather than a coffee drinker, you had best bring your own tea bags. Except during breakfast hours, you will not be able to find any. Even during breakfast hours, you will have to wait in a long line to get a tea bag. In summation, I would avoid this hotel. It was not worth the money, and there are many better properties in Santa Cruz.

"Average"
souzamrachel, 25 Juillet 2021

The pictures on the site look really nice but the hotel itself was average. The lobby area was updated and looked nice but the rooms were not up to par. The bed was a little hard and not comfortable. Housekeeping did not come to our room at all. Breakfast was offered each morning with multiple options for each day. The staff was nice for the most part. The lady at the front desk was not too nice when we decided to check out a day early. The location of the hotel was nice and close to just about anything you are wanting to do in Santa Cruz.

"Skip this one"
Jeanne b, 20 Juillet 2021

Sounded great in reviews and the sales pitch from the Webb site. Do not judge a book by its cover. One can hear the flushing of the toilets even in the hall ways. The furniture is soiled, the toilet is old school height, the breakfast is a joke, the breakfast sandwiches were just barely warm , the muffin was mashed I took it back, the waffles were a total Mickey Mouse item. Not a great stay, we are old and have traveled extensively, take my word ….go somewhere else.

The room was in poor shape the carpets where stained and ripped, the cleaning of the room was poor. I went to speak to a manger to Express my concerns about the room but didn't care. It's not I have always stayed at a best Western Hotel and I've never had bad service like this before

"Be Prepared"
maggier7772021, 24 Juin 2021

Dirty and stained carpet and sofa bed. Rusted hole in bathtub where drain cover should be. Someone came in tried to fix tub? left rust tailings in the tub, propped the bathroom door open with an ice bucket and never fixed the tub. Drain plug did not work and the caulking around tub was corroded, brown or missing. Stained tub walls. Was given a large hefty size garbage bag when asked about the garbage being picked up. Bagged garbage and left outside door per instructions and no one picked up. Had to pick up yourself towels, there were no washcloths, food crumbs in microwave. Breakfast go early in the morning as hot food was gone when I went later, and be prepared to wait a long time if you do go later than 7AM. Plus, the staff seemed to be the best they could under a work shortage, especially the breakfast ladies. The beds were comfortable. I think a deep cleaning on all the carpet and furniture would be a great start in making this a better stay.

"Frustrating experience & Disappointed"
Julie B, 23 Juin 2021

My husband & I booked this trip to spend time with the kids/grandkids at the beach for four days. Hubby had to attend a zoom meeting & work for a couple hours each morning. The ethernet cable did not work in our room. The front desk solution was to change our room. We changed rooms. That cable didn't work either. Then they tried several passwords for the wi-fi, which did not work. We was able to connect the wi-fi through the phone, but it had a poor connection & was intermittent. We were finally able to connect to an outside Xfinity hot spot though my phone for his laptop zoom meetings & work website. This took several hours of our Sunday away from family and caused a lot of frustration. The room was not cleaned well, we found used personal products near the sofa in our suite, disgusting. The breakfast left much to be desired with no hot food or proteins and the coffee was bitter & watery. Two lights in the room did not work, the shower head was stuck on a hard spray and the jacuzzi was out of service (no water with fencing around it). I specifically called prior to booking and asked about amenities we would require (ethernet, wi-fi, jacuzzi & breakfast). Nothing was said about limited breakfast items, no coffee during the day, jacuzzi out of order and lack of ethernet service. The website also states 24 hour coffee, which was only open during the limited breakfast hours. Parking is underground, very narrow & not enough room to avoid door dings, even when being careful. We had to back out of the parking stall to load & unload our vehicle. Two of our three nights we had to wait in excess of 20 minutes for people to leave before we could park and go to our room. Many of whom were not registered at the hotel (there was a notice from management on the windshields). We are extremely disappointed that the name 'Best Western' was on the building. It is in not in any way what we have come to expect from this chain.

"Super convenient and comfortable"
gabfusco, 10 Juin 2021

Super close to the beach and downtown. Hotel is always clean, staff is friendly and accommodating. Nice breakfast options. IMy family and I plan on staying here Everytime we come to Santa Cruz in the future

"My experience"
brandi9272021, 17 Mai 2021

I did not get the Rome I was told I was receiving. In the Room that I did get looked horrible from ripped things, stains, broken and messed up the walls. One particular woman there what's extremely rude to multiple guess. Eva was her name I believe. I did however get 2 nice gentleman to assist me before my encounter with Eva. Josh was his name. The manager was nice as well. Stating that I will NEVER stay there again. The rooms definitely weren't worth the price! Well my room at that.

"Great Location"
JensenJeni, 10 Mai 2021

Hotel located very central to food and activities. Room decor outdated and couch looked very old and used. Bed was comfortable. Could have better pillows. Hot breakfast not available yet but had options. Over all was pleased and will stay again.

"it's okay"
tklectro, 10 Avril 2021

not a high end place, but you knew that already. People are nice, friendly, and try hard. Always something missing though...one time we checked in there, and every electrical appliance needed to be plugged in:TVs, lamps, clock...? Last two visits, only one TV worked, We asked desk to take care of it, they said they would, no one did. Time before last, they has three days to fix that problem, and didn't. We stay for the beach and Boardwalk and downtown convenience, not for the luxury of the place. It's okay.

"Professional service/Room security lacking."
william648, 07 Avril 2021

The staff was kind and professional. My check-when smooth and quick. There were plenty of luggage cart to haul my things to my room. I thought I had a great value for the location with my military discount. Unfortunately the pool was closed during my visit. I would have appreciated a notice on the website declaring the status of the pool. The breakfast was lacking, I primarily blame COVID measures for this. It was a brown paper bag with vending machine food. The biggest failure of my visit was the staffs lack of concern when I told them the deadbolt on my room door would not work. I could not lock my room. The staff told me they would fix it eventually.

"Nice, but I not what I paid for"
Christine C, 02 Avril 2021

My main objective in finding a hotel in Santa Cruz was having an in room jetted tub. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Best Western offered this amenity. I paid extra to reserve the suite with the jetted tub. They had an option for early check in, where I made sure I noted this because I had read before that some guests did not receive this amenity upon arrival. The hotel staff ensured me that room 325 had a jetted tub. This was not the case.

"Fantastic Staff!"
juanmstrong42, 31 Mars 2021

My girlfriend and I stayed here over the weekend and we had a wonderful stay!! Our room was on the 2nd floor tucked away in a corner. This is perfect for us since we did not have a neighbor on one side of our wall. Staff are very friendly, professional and on top of things. The room was spacious and very clean. Our toilet bowl flushed very aggressively and loud but I see that as a plus. Parking is downstairs in a garage and it looks like it maybe limited to spacing but we had no problem parking since we found a spot during our two night stay. This is my 3rd time staying here and it is my favorite location to stay at.

"Bad plumbing"
nekwa2021, 19 Janvier 2021

The hotel is very nice, lobby was nice and cleaned. Clerks were very kind and patient. Breakfast is grab and go in a brown bag which is fine due to Covid but there's only coffee in the lobby and you have to get cream and sugar from front desk. Rooms are huge. 2 TV's were awesome plus microwave and fridge. Only problem was our toilet kept getting clogged up-3 different times so maintenance had to come in and unclog it and weird smells from bathroom which was probably the plumbing.

"Great Value/ Great Staff"
U5141QFdanielw, 17 Septembre 2020

This is the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed at! Less than a mile from the beach, their staff does an excellent job making sure you feel at home. Jasmine and Jay were extremely helpful. I'll definitely be back!

"Impressive one man show!"
simplyme365, 09 Août 2020

I arrived late at night and was greeted by a very friendly front desk receptionist. He helped me find a good parking place for my trailer and got me a key when I locked myself out while simultaneously answering calls, mopping and helping other guests. Room is also very clean and comfy beds.

"Excellent service"
R3314WHaaronk, 13 Juillet 2020

Myself and a friend arived late night early morning in santa cruz finding most hotels closed. From the time we enter the parking lot of the security guard was very helpful Dave I believe and the gentleman at the front desk NJ was extremely Pleasant very accommodating a great joy to do business with I got you get a raise throughout the evening apprehended someone attempting to break into our vehicle and there is no damage done or nothing stolen these guys made our stay very much enjoyable and safe thank you Jay and Dave

"Interior Room with no air circulation during COVID-19"
jenniferscholl, 14 Mai 2020

We arrived late after a long day and we were exhausted. The room was an interior room with no access to outside windows or doors. The doors and window opened up to an enclosed atrium in the hotel or a hallway. The lights in the bathroom would not come on. The HVAC unit was not functioning properly. The unit was covered with dirt and dust. When we finally got it to work with the remote, it smelled very stale and disgusting. The room was dingy and did not feel clean. The room was very uncomfortable for three of us sleeping on two Queen beds as we could not control the temperature and it was hot and stuffy. I found this unacceptable to place a family in a room like this during COVID-19. Breakfast was a "grab and go" brown bad with a water and a small muffin.

"FRONT DESK WOMAN MADE W FALSE ASSUMPTION, TOOK MY LAST HUNDRED DOLLARS WITHOUT WARNING & HAS LEFT ME SHELTERLESS OVER IT"
rebeccaAnnHill92, 04 Avril 2020

extremely unhappy right now that the lady up front took it upon herself to take the literal LAST hundred dollars i had to my name all because she ASSUMED AND ACCUSED ME FOR SMOKING IN THE ROOM AND WORSE THAN THAT SHE ACCUSED ME OF ACTUALLY COVERING UP THE VENTS AND SMOKE DETECTORS IN THE ROOM!?? First she never even brought this to my attention and tried to talk to me about it AT ALL! 2nd. I don't smoke and i would never in my life think of covering up a smoke alarm system and putting myself and everyone else in the hotel at risk of fire danger. What kind of woman does this lady assume I am!??? and the last thing: my partner noticed the bags over the alarms and we thought it was because they were brand new and they didn't take the packaging off of them or something, we never even thought it was because someone would be smoking in the room. The room doesn't even smell like ciggs because the three out of the four of us who stayed there don't even smoke and i would never allow for that to happen! We also never received ANY kind of room service because I paid another $130 to stay the night there- even though the beds were extremely poor quality- but I thought that would include room service but it apparently didn't; anyway, I had to call up front to ask for towels, toilet paper and cups and when i did we were still all talking about the bags on the smoke detectors and so i asked the lady who picked up the phone while asking for our room supplies that there were bags n the alarms in the room if she knew of it, and the only thing she said in return was that she would ask and get up things i needed and call me when i could come pick them up. when i picked the towels, etc., up she never said anything about the alarms but by that time I was already absent minded about it- as i was never concerned about it much- because once again i just thought maybe they were new!! when i called and asked why i was charged the woman was very snooty to me and talking down on me as if she didn't believe anything coming out of my mouth. the worst thing you can do in customer service is make the client feel disrespected and talked down to.. and that's exact what she did and how she made me feel!! I would never think to do that! and yes i did lose my temper after she was about to mention for the 3rd something which implied she thought i was lying- but after something like this who wouldn't. that was MY LAST HUNDRED DOLLARS UNTIL NEXT WEEK AND MY ONLY MEANS OF SURVIVAL DURING THIS SHELTER IN PLACE AND I HAD A DEAL GOING ON WITH AN AIRBNB BUT NOW THAT I DONT HABE THAT 85 dollars UP FRONT I CAN KISS MY SHELTER GOOD BYE! and all because SOME SNOOTY WOMAN OVER THE COUNTER MADE A FALSE ASSUMPTION AND RAN WITH IT AS IF THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF REALITY TO IT. NOW ILL BE SLEEPING IN MY CAR TILL NEXT WEEK. i am taking this situation to corporate. And i will never stay at your facility again- and i actually stayed here quite a bit. but i can never chance this happening again! moral of story: NEVER MAKE ASSUMPTIONS WITHOUT FIRST SPEAKING WITH THE PERSON YOU ARE MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT!

"Horrific stay - avoid"
1855Runkle1855, 28 Mars 2020

My wife and I stayed here while I was in the area for business. We found hair, dirt, and trash in the bed. There were spider webs in the corner of the room. The couches were stained, and gross. The hotel was also loud.

"Great place for a retreat!"
teresainhislove, 06 Mars 2020

The Staff was friendly and helpful, they accommodated our group of 25 retreat goers well! The best thing was the breakfast! They put out a complementary minimum) Draft saved at 8:35 PM. feast! and the coffee rocks! The room we stayed in had a couch and chair an extra sink as well as a couple of beds in a separate room. When you walk into the inn the fire and colorful lobby area is fantastic! We brought our own dinner from Pizza My Heart and used many tables there to enjoy it! We were there in 2018 but it did not give that as our choices.

"Not without some flaws"
Jaime P, 25 Février 2020

The room, despite being right off the central eating/main open area, was comfortable and surprisingly quiet, except for the heavy footed person(s) in the room above us. The walls on either side of the bed had light and dark smears on them which was disconcerting as they were obvious. Otherwise the room seemed clean. We couldn't open our window as it was missing the pin to unlock it and allow it to slide open and the screen was falling off. Breakfast consisted of waffles, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, sweetened vanilla yogurt, eggs, and meat. Pretty standard fare but no healthy, gluten free, unsweetened, or non-dairy alternatives seem at other standard BW properties. We were told parking was going to be an issue given the hotel was completely booked and the under hotel garage isn't very large. Don't know where to park otherwise given it's on a busy intersection corner with no street parking.

"Not a place I would pay for"
SirDuderino, 19 Février 2020

We used our hotel points for the room so I can't complain about the value of the room. But I am disappointed in it. It was an inside room with no windows for fresh air. The AC unit was broken/didn't work very well so the room was super stuffy and unpleasant to be in. Thankfully it was only one night. I will definitely stay somewhere else next time we're in Santa Cruz. The receptionist was very nice.

"Great stay but Hotel needs a MAJOR refurbishment!!"
Jaimelynn, 10 Février 2020

On the Best Western website, you are given an option to book a room with a fireplace, which was a big selling point for me! A day before I arrived, I checked my confirmation and it didn't say anything about a fireplace room so I called to confirm. I was told by a very nice young lady that they had removed the fireplaces because of safety issues, but she would check to see if there were any rooms that had a fireplace and would ask if it could possible be turned on for one night. I thought she was providing excellent customer service...even if she had no intention of checking at all...at least she made me feel like she would try. Upon check in, I was told that I was in room 330...The Honeymoon Suite, which made me giggle a little, but ok! When I opened the door, there was the fireplace, and even better...it turned on! I would just suggest 2 things, one is to remove the fireplace option from the website and two is, please refurbish these rooms. The furniture is dated and dingy and cheap looking. For over $200 a night in the winter...I really would expect nicer, maybe more beachy decor. Where it lacks in aesthetics, it makes up for in friendliness and great customer service.

"Good hotel with great location"
MonkeyKing814, 03 Février 2020

Nice hotel, clean, good breakfast. Location is perfect to walk to downtown or the boardwalk. Room was clean but old decor. Staff was so nice. Parking is easy and safe. Good value - join the membership program it's free and useful benefits

"Pleasant stay"
wbmsueann, 02 Février 2020

My husband and I stayed for five nights. We have one problem for the hot water wasn't working they fixed it within an hour. Breakfast is enjoyable with different choices and the staff is friendly. We would come back. The only complaint I could say is the bed could have been either updated or better he was your base of the line bed so every movement was felt by your partner.

"Santa cruze stay"
MATVEY C, 17 Janvier 2020

Nice Clean Hotel! With a clean rooms, and very good service. Helpful staff, good restaurants at walking distance. Garage type parking space. Free breakfast was very good with a big selection of different items.

"Good Location"
828sherriec, 12 Janvier 2020

We've stayed at this location a number of times. It is walking distance to downtown Santa Cruz. Despite being on a busy intersection the rooms are quiet. I like that breakfast area is large with bar seating that has charging stations.

"BW Santa Cruz"
McKelly72, 11 Janvier 2020

Best Western Plus All Suites is an easy location to get to. Good car parking and central from downtown with easy walk access. The hotel is what you would expect from BW. Clean, spacious and well serviced. Pool was out of action but otherwise good value for money stay.

"Worst Hotel Ever"
ejpala33, 06 Janvier 2020

Normally Best Western are a decent place to stay. Not the one in Santa Cruz ! I was travelling with my wife , 3 year old and 3 week new born. We had purchased $70 worth of food, that we expected to be able to refrigerate. Well the refrigerator and the heater weren't working. W e called the front desk, and they said they would send some one with in the hour to fix it. No one ever came. All my food was spoiled, and my children were freezing all night. We told the manager what happened, and all she did was get my phone number and say she would call us when she spoke to her boss. We never got a call !

"Good value"
jmoughan, 29 Décembre 2019

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was nice, the room was clean, and breakfast was excellent. I'm not sure why there were negative reviews because our visit was very pleasant!! I'd definitely recommend this hotel to other families passing through the area.

"Would Not Recommend"
Clinton11201, 26 Décembre 2019

Upon first entry the hotel looked great. Nice lobby, friendly staff. Unfortunately, the room was very disappointing. It smelled off, had peeling wallpaper, beat up furniture and permanently stained and damaged walls throughout. I believe the housekeepers did the best they could with the space. There was also a broom handle wedged to keep the window from prying, not a reassuring sign for safety. The breakfast in the morning was good but we were eager to get out of there. Would not recommend unless the rooms were renovated. The next night we were in a Best Western in Monterrey and it was day and night!

"Noisy room, no window, no bathtub"
marthad667, 03 Décembre 2019

My daughter and I stayed in this hotel for one night on last Saturday. We were assigned a room directly across from the coffee and breakfast area, which means we were awoken quite early by employees setting up breakfast. Not their faults - they were just doing their jobs, but it was noisy at 6:30 am. The room also did not have a window to the outside, which just drives me crazy. I need fresh air particularly in a hotel with interior corridors. Finally, there was no bathtub and I like a relaxing soak in a tub after a long day of traveling. That all being said, it was an okay stay and I slept well until I was awoken at 6:30.am

"Santa Cruz getaway"
joaquintabera, 27 Novembre 2019

My girlfriend and I did a quick last minute trip to SC and decided to stay here. The deal breaker for us was the WiFi and free breakfast. Which did not disappoint. It's a great location because it's in the middle of everything!

" Breakfast or “ lack of” POOR SERVICE "
Maddy0823, 24 Novembre 2019

The room we had was absolutely perfect! Large, clean, roomy, and housekeeping very nice people! Then we went down for our breakfast or should I say “lack of” breakfast! We went down at 8:30 AM and they were out of waffle mixture, Both bottles of syrup empty, pastries container 1 left, bread container 1 left, no coffee, no forks!. Patrons were waiting for food. I went to front desk and told “Eva” we needed food and she said she'd be there when she was done checking out patrons. We finally found one employee named “Serena” who was suppose to be working the dining room... she had a bad attitude! A gentleman stepped in and told her he paid good money to stay there and he expected hot warm food when he came down for breakfast. She acted like she was doing all of us a favor! She is not an asset to Best Western and real left a lot of patrons upset!

"One night stay "
Rochelle1986, 20 Novembre 2019

We stayed here for one night as part of a trip up highway 1 to San Francisco. The hotel was in a good location, close to downtown and short drive to the wharf/boardwalk. The staff were lovely on check in and check out, the room was clean, and large (it had a seperate lounge area). The beds were comfy however the pillows were definitely NOT, I woke up with a massive headache from sleeping with a poor pillow (only small too). So would advise them to get new ones!! The lighting was poor in the room, there didn't seem to be enough for the area Parking was free and easy, the aircon was a little noisey so we didn't have it on but luckily it wasn't needed anyway. Breakfast was very plain and simple, nothing to rave about but enough to have something light to eat. There was no in room safe so that was annoying as I don't like to leave passports etc out. But overall was a pleasant enough stay for one night

"Don't stay here."
ashndavid, 11 Novembre 2019

This was my second time staying at this hotel. The first time the only issue I had was parking because my group traveled in 2 vehicles and they only give one parking pass per room, even if your room can sleep 8. This time was just 4 of us traveling in one car so I thought it would be fine. I was wrong... Our room was in poor condition upon arrival but I didn't think too much about seeing a dirty towel and an empty soda bottle on the counter, and used soap in the dish because people make mistakes, and the housekeeper probably just forgot to finish that area. Then later my husband, who was the first to use the restroom, said that there was urine and toilet paper left in the toilet. That irritated me a bit more. I let it go though and as my family started settling down in bed for the night, around 10pm, someone started to unlock and open the emergency exit door in our room. Totally freaked me out, we called the front desk and were told that security would be sent up to check it out. Never heard anything after that, but it made me start thinking that employees probably hang out in that room on a regular basis. One of them was clearly comfortable enough to try to come in at 10pm and with the soda bottle, toilet, and sink/counter area being left the way it was, they probably don't have many guests stay in that room so it's become a hang out. If that's not enough to turn you away, the first morning we went down for breakfast at 7am and there was nothing out. As we were waiting to see what was going on a younger woman came rushing in, late for work and started getting food out for the many guests waiting. This really made our day start later than we wanted. I'm not normally one to complain but I've never stayed in a hotel and had a bad experience. I'm pretty good at letting small things go but I hardly slept due to being afraid someone would try to get in our room again. Time for corporate to do an overhaul of this hotel.

"Nice Large Room"
ShanaTravels4Work, 10 Novembre 2019

I stay at a lot of BW for work and enjoyed staying in a suite. It was fun knowing I had the room to spread out. I often travel with my own food so it was convenient to use the microwave and refrigerator. I will be staying here again. The parking garage is a bit small and difficult to use. Lots of compact spaces, not many compact cars.

"Great for one night stay in California road trip"
1970TravelChick, 07 Novembre 2019

We last minute booked this hotel on our road trip from San Francisco to LA. The room was clean & comfortable. Our room overlooked the hot tub which wasn't a problem for us as we arrived late & left early but I feel it would have been an issue if we were there for longer. Check in & out was quick & staff were efficient. Free parking was also a bonus. The breakfast that was included in the price was also great & kept us full for hours. All in all for a family of four it offered great value for money.

"Buyer beware "
stacybirnie, 05 Novembre 2019

Its disappointing to write this review but here it is. It seems part of this hotel has been renovated and part has not. The part that is not should NOT be rented to anyone! ANYONE! Full disclosure I was using my points (therefore considered a free night) with that I dont expect to get a premium room. However, I do expect to get a clean room in good repair. At check in I was given room 222. The location was poor, that could be overlooked.... the condition of the room could not be. There literally was paint peeling off the walls..... in multiple location. Cigarette burns marking multiple pieces of furniture (this is a non smoking property). The stains on the carpet were so many I didn't bother to count. I stood there stunned, I honestly could not believe this was a Best Western hotel let alone a plus. I went to the desk, tried being as cordial as possible explaining that I could not stay in that room. Initially the clerk said that's all she had and I almost walked away but I just could not imagine staying the night in that room, it really was that bad. I just had to tell her strait out , I'm not staying in that room, and it shouldn't be rented period it's unacceptable. She reluctantly put me in a different room ..... room 333. This is the thing, 333 was a beautiful room it was like night and day, a completely different hotel .... I couldn't believe it. BUT what really irritated me is clearly they know the state of their rooms. Management is lacking if they think its acceptable to rent a room that has paint chipping a peeling from walls, cigarette burns all over and a carpet so stained it was unbelievable. That initial experience affected my view of the entire stay, that first impression is what I remember not the nicer room (I basically had to stand my ground to get.) It shows lack of overall care and I won't be staying there again. Side note: the lack of cleanliness on the entire ground were evident, there was litter everywhere and this is an indoor property.

"Best Western does it again!"
Rockinbassman56, 04 Novembre 2019

I love the care and consideration given at BW. They are always friendly, helpful and eager to please! There is a great variety at breakfast and it is tasty. The location was great! We were minutes from the beach!

"Much Needed R&R"
LosToledos, 29 Octobre 2019

As a Best Western Rewards Member, I had booked my stay for this hotel about a month before our trip. Fast forward to the day of arrival and I receive a pre-registration email and I did state I would like early check-in since I was traveling with 3 small children and to rest and freshen up. Within 10 minutes, I receive a text message, not a robo-generated one acknowledging my email and said she would try her best to accommodate but could not promised. I understood and completely understand. I showed my husband and we both chuckled since we could not believe it. We decided to kill time, grab lunch and a few hours later, I got another text saying my room was ready. WOW!!! Make my way to the hotel and Hailey was with guest and she did greet me and let me know she would help me when she finished. When she became available, I told her I needed to thank the wonderful person I was texting in. She said it was her and told her how much I appreciate her excellent customer service. I arrived at my room 330 and fell in love with my suite which had a hot tub. The bed was comfortable and the interior climate was just right. Next morning, we make our way for the breakfast which consist of make it yourself mini-waffles, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, bacon. We were greeted by Helen who asked how are stay is and if I needed anything. While she is refilling stations, wiping tables, clearing plates, she interacts with each customer which score many points in my book.

"Our room was disgusting!"
lisettemedel, 17 Octobre 2019

Upon arrival everything seemed nice but as we walked up to our room everything was filthy. The floors were dirty and trash thrown in the hall. Our room was disgusting as well. The floor was also dirty and we found hair on the bed as well as in the shower. Considering it was a junior suite, they only provided two bath towels.

"Family home away from Home!!"
blainegoocher, 09 Octobre 2019

Not having stayed yet at any Best Western "Plus" this was our first stay. We are seniors and this was our first visit to California and to a BW "Plus". Excellent hotel, easy check in, beautiful rooms as "Classy" as any Hilton, Hampton, or Marriot properties we've stayed in and I traveled in work the last 10 years on a weekly basis. Competitive rates, above average security in parking and located near all your destinations. The team at BW "Plus" were fantastic to work with, help with directions, answered all our questions seeing were "newbies" to visit California. Very professional staff across the board. Keep it up BW "Plus".

"Very good evening"
Mark W, 08 Octobre 2019

On a road trip, we're never sure where we'll stop for the night, so every hotel, even BW is a crap shoot. We shot very well this time. Everything and everyone was just right. The nice lady that checked us in noticed that we had forgotten our goodie bag, so she sent one of the guys up to deliver it. The rooms are unusual in that there are windows facing outside and inside. Strange, but quirky in a good way. The indoor atrium was very nice. Mane the place feel more open than is usual in a hotel these days. All-in-all, if we go through here again, we would stay here.

"Good hotel and stay"
anilt413, 09 Septembre 2019

Overall hotel is nice, beautiful decor inside , staff is friendly parking garage is small so they only allow 1 vehicle per room. The room is spacious and beds are comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. Will try Best Western plus again in the future.

"Different type of Best Western"
johndC8932TT, 03 Septembre 2019

We stayed just a night at this hotel but we wished we could have stayed more. The reception staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is like a courtyard with rooms all around. The center court is the spacious breakfast area. The rooms were very well apportioned and the bed was very. comfortable. The breakfast we very good. The scrambled eggs were the best I have had at at any hotel we have stayed at. Fresh and fluffy, not the micro wave kind you often get. I definitely recommend this hotel

"Best Western is THE BEST !"
vickisgarden7413, 25 Août 2019

Best Western is THE BEST because they do everything ever so very well! The staff are ALL friendly and welcoming. They offered help with several things. The breakfast bar is exceptional ! The pool was a delight !

"Far from Best"
Renee002, 24 Août 2019

The first night was great-good, quiet, open garage parking space, nice breakfast-we've stayed here before and liked it. Then reality began to sink in. There was no maid service to make up the room. My husband mentioned it at the desk. The soft drink vending machines were both broken. It took an effort to find the fitness room. There are signs that this place needs renovation badly-torn window blinds, chipped plaster, blistering paint, stained carpet...Black fungus in nozzles of in room Jacuzzi. Next day, no maid service. Mentioned at desk...leave for day. I come back early-no maid service. Complain. Wastebasket full, out of coffee. They tell us we are not in the system. I show my room key card. They say we were assigned a different room number and marked as no shows. Wait, read paper. No maid service. Good I got there before housekeeping closed. Complain. Finally. Stay ok, now have coffee. Leave for dinner. Key doesn't work on return. Complain. Given new room key. Told we will need to move to a different room. Pack. We were here for a family vacation and used our loyalty program points for 3 free days, then had 2 paid days. Maybe this is the reason for the problems; don't know, heard other people complaining at the desk also. Good night's sleep on the last night so 2 out of 5 nights, no problems-below average!

"Surprised by the room"
BWEncinitas, 19 Août 2019

I was put in a king suite with a bathroom separating the living room and bedroom (it had 2 tvs). It was perfect for my visit to monterey car week and the santa cruz boardwalk. Walking anywhere isn't bad but if you wanna get there faster they have these electric bicycles you can rent. Everything was good breakfast, furnishings, and staff- I wouldn't change a thing keep it up!!

"Bestwestern boardwalk"
HECTOR Y, 17 Août 2019

Good place to go when on a family vacation the beach and boardwalk are a nice walk from the hotel with much to see on the way. Lots of shops to stop by and restaurants to eat at while walking to your destination.

"Loud and poorly laid out"
mojofor, 16 Août 2019

Our group had three rooms here. We switched one because the wall adjacent to the hotel hallway had glass bricks that let light in all night. The second room pull out sofa was only a twin and we had planned to have two kids sleep there. The third room had a very disturbing vibration each night that went on for over two minutes. There was loud traffic right outside. The "hot tub" was either a tiny pool or a large hot tub that was not that warm and a little dirty. Shower took forever to get warm in one of the rooms. I really wanted to just keep my mouth shut because my mom was paying for the family get together, but it was very frustrating.

"Decent Place to Stay in Santa Cruz"
Duffyruns, 05 Août 2019

We stayed at this hotel for our summer vacation. The rooms are a decent size with a separate living room area from the bedroom. The hotel offers hot breakfast in the morning, including eggs and a make your own waffle station. The beds were comfortable. I found the hotel not to be the cleanest. There was debris in front of the door of the room the day we checked in, as it had not been vacuumed in a few days. I have found that if you can see some areas not being cleaned, there are other areas that are not being cleaned that you cannot see. There hotel was also in need of minor repairs throughout. The hotel is not close to the boardwalk or downtown Santa Cruz.

"Does the job"
shaukisr, 03 Août 2019

We had a one night stop in Santa Cruz.... the hotel for the price does the job... it was comfortable... but the room smelt of mouldy milk... we were also very close to the breakfast area so got woken up by all the noise outside from people having breakfast. Breakfast is included in the price and it's a great breakfast, kids loved the make your own waffles machine.. there was a nice selection but not sure I would stay here again...

"Warning"
MRG805, 01 Août 2019

Before you go: if you think you are booking a “suite”-ask if it is a large room with a sofa bed and a king bed separated by a small partition with one TV or two separate areas with a bathroom in the middle and two TV—they have both and call them both a suite. I thought I was booking a suite and found out otherwise at check-in. The young man behind the counter seemed to be the only employee at work at 3pm. After entering the room, I realized we were not given the wifi code and the sofa bed had no top sheet or pillows. I tried calling the front desk on and off for an hour…..no answer and no “housekeeping” option on the room phone. I eventually went downstairs to get the wifi code and ask for a sheet/pillows. Over an hour later, two sheets arrived at the door but no pillows. We left the hotel for dinner and had to ask again at the desk for pillows when we returned. Another confusing and frustrating experience was the tv. I don't know if it is their cable provider's fault or what but there is no channel line up in the room and no way to tell when using the remote what channel you are on or how to find one you want. Pressing the channel up or down button did not reveal channel numbers or even networks if it was on a commercial. Seems like a small thing but you end up spending a ridiculously huge amount of time trying to find a channel you want to watch. After settling in to sleep at 11:30 pm, the carbon monoxide detector/alarm went off and scared the life out of us. It stopped after a few seconds and although concerned, we thought it might be a fluke and seeing no commotion outside in the halls, we settled back down to sleep. Again at 1am, the alarm went off, this time waking us from sleep and staying on much longer. We didn't know if we were being poisoned by carbon monoxide or if the alarm was mal-functioning. Either way it was the middle of the night and we couldn't sleep there. Since no one answered the front desk phone, I went down there to find help. Once again, there was a (different) young man working alone and didn't seem to understand me when I explained the problem. He eventually assigned us a different room which we had to pack up and move into half asleep in the middle of the night. As other reviewers have noted, the “atrium” inside area of the hotel was a hot, humid ninety degrees and the air smelled moldy and gross. The AC in the rooms worked but apparently cannot keep up with skylight over the main hotel. On the plus side, the hotel is centrally located and has a great free breakfast with bacon, eggs, waffles, cereal, bagels, and yogurt. But overall very disappointing experience for $200 per night. Keep looking.

"Watch out for dirty rooms"
John Y, 31 Juillet 2019

I'm not one to complain but this hotel just needs to be renovated. Stayed here for 2 nights. Our first room had blood stains on the drapes. The bathroom had a 30 degree tilt and the carpet was horrible. Moved into another room and pretty much the same. Paid $280/night for this? The staff were at least very pleasant. Management needs to either renovate this place or just tear it down. The bum fights outside were very entertaining to say the least.

"hotel room"
Andyda c, 28 Juillet 2019

Rooms service didn't answer phone calls terrible at cleaning didn't even clean the room ask for more blankets hunged up the phone in my face breakfast was disappointing eggs tasted old and sausage was so plastic tasting bed was harder than some rocks hotel room smelled so bad it was a disgrace and totally not worth 200 dollar a night the hot tub smelt like piss it's was dirty it was unbelievable there were only 2 workers who really help me out if you go here ask for the Latino guy and the black Latino great workers they had great customer service but other than that everything else just not worth it & the white guy great worker as well

"Its ok"
647nathan, 24 Juillet 2019

Ok location. Some rooms are ok. Others not. Service is ok. Parking is extremely tight. Get there early before 4pm (check in time) I waited 1 hour due to "your room is not ready yet" even though booked through booking.com

"NOT A GOOD PARKING SPACE"
tingonzales, 16 Juillet 2019

Can't go out of my car when I park side by side. This have been their problem ever since accdg to their staff but it seems that the managers of this site is not doing their job to make their client's stay pleasurable.

"One night stay "
Cheryl1412, 15 Juillet 2019

Stayed for one night while travelling down route 1. Room was great for what we needed as family of 4 with 2 teenage children so 2 room suite with king size room, double bedroom and sofa bed was ideal. Lift wasn't working so we had to carry cases upstairs not really any amenities and breakfast was very basic. Would give room a higher rating than overall

"NOT an All Suites Hotel-Be careful"
Frank N, 15 Juillet 2019

This place mis-advertises it's facility. Just stayed here and it was NOT a suite. Just two beds and a bathroom. Dirty and moldy shower. No temperature control as the unit panel did not work. And to the older lady working the front desk the morning of July 14, 2019...get a new job! Rude and seemed "put-out" by any questions. I will NEVER stay here again. Only good thing was the breakfast. If this sounds like the place for you for $300 a night, book-on.

"Dirty"
paulrY7468BT, 15 Juillet 2019

This hotel is dirty. There was fecal matter in the toilet when we arrived and it was not cleaned up for the entire legnth of our stay. Items (coffee, etc) were not restocked daily, and they even left opened, half used items instead of supplying new ones. The beds were hard and very uncomfortable.

"Close to downtown with parking"
kstorm804800, 11 Juillet 2019

This is a nice location probably 1 mile or less from beach. It's possible to walk to downtown (1/2 mile) The under hotel parking is in and out 24 hours, but it does fill up and the spaces are very narrow. Most cars will fit, which is very convenient. I used to live in this neighborhood, and it's right in town. I asked front desk for a room that did not face Ocean Street and Soquel Avenue, and it was quiet. When the room they assigned us was right next to the breakfast area, I asked them to re-assign us and they did. The breakfast was well-attended and the food tasty and abundant. Hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, toast, cereals and some fruit. The coffee was good and was re-filled it upon request. Their were multiple servers keeping up the food which was open late (until 10:00 AM). Also their is one elevator, so good for families taking kids and supplies to the beach.

"Bad don't stay"
Chris G, 08 Juillet 2019

Terrible stay. Do not stay. Staff is rude. Rooms not clean. Parking a mess on weekends m. Do not stay if you want a nice stay. Housekeeping did not come in during four day stay. Front desk was rude and incompetent

"Great stay"
Maggie S, 04 Juillet 2019

Great value for your money. Rooms are spacious and the breakfast is wonderful! Staff was friendly and helpful. Just a 5 minutes walk to Main Street restaurants and shopping. The only issue was too many homeless in the area but that's not the hotel's fault.

"Road trip"
lennygee2015, 03 Juillet 2019

Great hotel and location. Close to local restaurants, walking distance, and easy reach to board walk. I really liked the clean rooms, and included breakfasts every morning. Unfortunately, the elevator broke Friday, and wasn't repaired until Monday.

"Dirty! Not worth a penny to stay in."
Adventure60249349169, 03 Juillet 2019

Broken glass on the floor, dirty elevator, bathroom smelled like urine. Linen was obviously dirty. There were long black strains of hair throughout the room. Loud cross traffic. Overall, worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

"High hopes but disappointed"
janeg901, 27 Juin 2019

Elevator didn't work, had to get luggage from garage to room. Laundry facilities didn't work - disappointing after a week long road trip and that was one of the main reasons why I chose that place. Room had a musty odor. Bathroom smelled like urine, had a dirty towel hanging on the shower curtain and there was urine on the toilet seat. Alarm clock was unplugged and flipped over on one night stand, on the other night stand where I wanted to put my cpap, the table was covered with something black and red and looked sticky. Went to front desk a few times but was greeted with a post-it that said "back in 10 mins" or "be back soon". The hot breakfast was probably the only highlight. I'm a BW Rewards member, wasn't offered a snack upon check-in either. What happened Best Western? I have pics and video of the room as well.

"Great place to stay"
Relax22458672862, 24 Juin 2019

I will definately stay here again, clean rooms, great staff, great location, GREAT BREAKFAST!! I think it would be hard to get a nicer hotel in this area for a better price. You get more Bang for your Buck here!!

"very nice hotel in Santa Cruz"
amundsong, 19 Juin 2019

I stayed at the Best Western All Suites Inn in Santa Cruz last month. The hotel is conveniently located on Ocean street within walking distance of downtown and the boardwalk. The hotel was very clean. The WiFi was excellent with good coverage of the signal throughout the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a good value with every room being a suite with good sized rooms. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very nice.

"Very clean, comfortable, and great free breakfast"
happygalfromCA, 18 Juin 2019

This was our first stay at this Best Western Suites in Santa Cruz, CA for my son's wedding. GREAT large and comfy and clean room and very tasty breakfast with many choices in a spotlessly clean sunny breakfast room! (Very yummy bacon!!) Wonderfully helpful and friendly front desk "Eva"

"Not your typical Best Western Plus - Disappointed"
Bill W, 16 Juin 2019

Definitely not your typical and expected Best Western Plus. Room was clean and nice but issues were prevalent. Issues at check in. Could not program room cards (4 attempts with a pair of cards and then had to re-program daily afterwards). Business section non-operational in that you could not print anything as the printer was not working. Juice machine non-operational the entire week. Definitely not worth $300/night when I was staying at Embassy Suites up and down the coast for 40% less.

"Not worth the money"
Roam62892539249, 14 Juin 2019

The room is not as pictured the jacuzzi does not work our TV did not work 99% of the staff was rude there is little to none parking if you're handicapped there's only three spots and forget it because they're taken up by trash cans

"Bad"
Guide40816096706, 13 Juin 2019

Bad quality for price point of room!! Room smelled so bad my boyfriend had trouble breathing. The locals at the restaurant knew it had a bad reputation No room replacement was given when we told staff

"Terrible and dirty"
KarenStays, 13 Juin 2019

This hotel is the most disgusting, dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Our toilet had pee on the back of it. The shower head was filthy. The sink had water spots. Our sheets had stains. We actually had to go to the front desk and request new sheets and change them ourselves. Pillows had streaks of dirt on them, so a second trip for new pillows. Hallways of the hotel were littered with junk and needed a good vacuuming. When you spend more than $300 a night for a hotel room, you at least expect it to be clean. I don't mind basic, but filthy is unacceptable. Hotel staff wasn't super responsive about it; took 20 minutes to get housekeeping to come up and re-clean the toilet. Don't stay here.

"Big Suites!"
Bonnie T, 10 Juin 2019

This is a wonderful place to stay when in Santa cruz. Parking is convenient. Clean. Full breakfast. Coffee and tea available all day. You get an extra living room space. My family enjoyed every part of this hotel.

"Okay stay but definitely not a suite!"
Stay56899694643, 08 Juin 2019

Out of 5 hotels on a recent family trip, this was the worst one which was disappointing given that these were supposed to be "suites". ABSOLUTE WORST TV's: Takes 4-5 seconds to change channels, doesn't display what channel you're on, and doesn't match the printed room guide. FILTHY JACUZZI: broken jets (no bubbles), water is filthy (filter system doesn't appear to be working adequately), and never any pool towels available. ROOMS NEED NEW FURNISHINGS: room looks updated but pull out couch was filthy and stained as if they just kept all their old furniture. Bathroom has only one hook so towels couldn't dry.

"Great, except.."
Escape01352060535, 07 Juin 2019

Please be aware bw charges your card you use to reserve the day before you arrive even if the booking site says won't charge till arrival! So make sure you use a card that has enough money on it. Call ahead if you want hot tub/jets to be working when you stay. Other then that breakfast was great, room was nice and big. Great location.

"Overall good Hotel"
Passport32036956641, 06 Juin 2019

Room was decent and service and amenities were great. Great location . Breakfast buffet was very good and didn't have to wait for items to be filled up. Water dispenser is awesome.Mattresses alittle hard for my comfort.

"Nice Hotel"
Cheryl D, 31 Mai 2019

We were driving from San Francisco along the Pacific Coast Highway and googled hotels in the area for a last minute place to stay and we found this hotel for a reasonable price. We had a King Room with a comfortable bed and shower with great water pressure. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the front desk workers were very nice.

"amazing service"
Adventure42207, 31 Mai 2019

one of the better places I have ever stayed in and I travel a lot..............great service from every employee, they are friendly and helpful with anything you ask............good management for sure and always greeted us with a polite professional way

Sherpa00718338822, 13 Mai 2019

Great place for the amazing price. The 2 bedroom family suite is the way to go with teenagers, large parties or multiple families. Great location. Garage tough to get in and out , breakfast was great and rooms very clean

"Would be a zero."
Anton S, 13 Mai 2019

Horrible best western. Bed was broken and they would not switch me. I did not get any sleep because it was so uncomfortable. No soap in room upon arrival. I had to wait 10 minutes before staff even showed up at front desk to help.

"A Night in Santa Cruz"
Quest35473401780, 10 Mai 2019

My honey and I wanted to getaway...so we decided on Santa Cruz. We stayed at the Best Western Plus it was amazing...the room was spacious, lovely, with a nice view. I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. I can't wait to get another weekend experience here at Best Western Plus

"Patty Rocks"
arawkstar, 01 Mai 2019

Me n my friend stay at this hotel, when we first got there we were Not to satisfied with our room, but Patty came through. She was able to accommodate us with no problem. Which made us happier and made us very comfortable. She really turned this experience into two thumbs up. Thanks again

"Disappointing Decline"
oldpoet53, 26 Avril 2019

The only saving grace was Pattie Gilbert. She is kind, respectful, helpful, and so much more! We've stayed at this BW twice a year for the past 20 years. This trip was hideous. Housekeeping and front desk were rude, inept, and unprofessional. If Pattie leaves, we shall find other accommodations for future Santa Cruz stays.

"Hard beds and an extra $50."
Navigate37030563363, 26 Avril 2019

They charged me an extra $50 deposit (that still hasn't been refunded) that I wasn't told about up front. The beds are like a rock and breakfast was bad. The room was clean and coffee was in the lobby was pretty good.

"Once an area favorite, but now that is unfortunately changing."
Brandon T, 23 Avril 2019

The Best Western All-Suites Inn has for many years been a favorite hotel of mine while visiting the Santa Cruz area. The staff at the hotel was always helpful, friendly and attentive. The rooms were always clean, comfortable, well appointed and in great working order. And they provided a great value and good location for my family and I. Unfortunately, my last two stays at this property have fallen well below what has come to be expected. During our last stay, the floor on which our room was located was uncomfortably hot. It was at least 90 degrees if not more in the hallway. Our room was fortunately a little cooler. However, even with the thermostat turned down as low as it could go the thermometer in the room never fell below 85 degrees. Needless to say, the heat made for a terrible night's sleep for my family and I. I am well aware that technical problems happen, but when I alerted the front desk about the problem I was met with a very dismissive response and no apology or even a simple promise to look into the matter further. I later called down again because we were in need of an extra sheet and pillow as well as some working television remotes. We never received either. Upon checkout I am always asked how my stay was and thanked for choosing their property. This time I was not. I think I was lucky to have gotten a “have a nice day” as I walked out. Not all was bad during our stay. The maintenance staff and all involved with the provided breakfast have always been and have remained friendly and helpful. The breakfast they provide was also very good. Great location near downtown and the Beach Boardwalk. And even despite the terrible night sleep we still managed to have a great trip to Santa Cruz. This property has become hit or miss. I went from always having wonderful stays here to now encountering broken beds, TVs that do not work, broken AC/heating systems and a dismissive front desk staff. It pains me that I can no longer whole-heartedly recommend this property to visitors. I hope things turn around soon, so that I can once again call the Santa Cruz Best Western All-Suites Inn my go to property in Santa Cruz.

"Deferred Maintenance"
jimkT3841HO, 22 Avril 2019

Although the entrance to the hotel is different, it is a central location. The staff is friendly and does the best they can The problem is the disrepair of the the hotel: 1-The jaccuzi jets did not work 2- Ice machine did not work 3- Soda machine was empty, took our money 4- light in hallway flickered 5- lamp on rt side of bed had no wall plug 6- moldy smell in bathroom 7- First two days no made service, had go find someone to get fresh towels, trash removed, etc. It is a shame, as we often stay at Best Western Hotels.

"Very dirty and in disrepair"
bluebellezza, 07 Avril 2019

We chose this place because we were traveling with our toddler and wanted a suite with two rooms. It was helpful to have the separate rooms but everything else was extremely disappointing. The room was very dirty and in disrepair... the couch had visible stains, the sink in living area had a crack in the faucet that sprayed water unless we tied a towel around it, the chair at the desk was torn, paint was peeling off the wall in the bathroom and other walls, the jets on the tub were so filthy I couldn't give my toddler a bath, the bed didn't have a blanket on it for two nights (it was just a third sheet), the front door didn't meet at the bottom (like it had been kicked in) and to top it off housekeeping left the front door open one day so when we returned from dinner our room was completely unsecured. It was also about 80 degrees in the main hallway for some reason, and the free breakfast was very poor quality. The coffee dispenser clearly isn't being cleaned properly and the coffee smelled so bad I could bring myself to drink it.

"3 1/2 stars -- a nice stay"
Melissa D, 26 Mars 2019

While this place is a bit run down, it was still a good place to stay for our family. We appreciated the size of the room -- a 2 bedroom option converted from two previously single rooms into a large living area with kitchenette and two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Be aware, the bedrooms do not have their own doors -- they are open to the hall -- but they were both king-sized beds and were comfortable and good sized. We loved having two bathrooms (both with jetted tubs) and the size of the living area was great for our family. The living area also had a pull-out bed which we did use for some of our children. The kitchenette has sinks, a microwave, and a mini-fridge with a table that could seat four. Our biggest downside was that when we first checked in our room smelled pretty strongly of marijuana, enough that it made us a bit nauseous. We didn't really want to stay in the room. We opened all the windows and turned on the fans and went to dinner for a couple of hours. By the time we came back it was much better, but that really was not exactly a pleasant experience. The continental breakfast was quite good for hotel fare, enough that our kids were thrilled every morning. The hotel was pretty close to the beach and a good central spot for our trips to Big Basin Redwood Forest. We dealt with several members of the staff and all were helpful and accommodating. We did use the guest laundry facility and appreciated that it was available. While we had a really rough beginning, overall this was a good place to stay and we ended up being glad we had a room we could all share rather than two separate rooms as we often need when we travel.

"Race Weekend"
Dream18832692517, 24 Mars 2019

Service was good. Staff was friendly. Room was spacious. Breakfast was great. Location was good for us! Some furniture was mildly broken and huge ink stain on the carpet. Room key didn't work so they had to send maintenance up to fix it but that was done in a timely manner.

"Great stay"
Dreamer27797093814, 18 Mars 2019

Great service even when I booked for the wrong dates and needed to change. Brianna helped me get as close to the rate as I booked and the room and service was very accommodating. Great location in Santa Cruz.

"This place has gone downhill swiftly"
340cheryles, 09 Mars 2019

We always make a point of staying at this Best Western Plus in Santa Cruz because we felt in the past it was outstanding, but during our stay this past week we were very disappointed. The outside of the hotel is terrible. Half the paint on the wall shingles is gone. The outdoor hot tub looked filthy. There are homeless people living outside across the street. It seems like many people come in off the street during the day and hang out in the lobby. The room we had had several black stains on the front room carpet that may have been burn stains. There was also a huge water stain in the middle of the front room carpet. There was a pile of discarded pistachio shells under the couch in the front room. The bathroom when we came in had a long dark hair on the toilet seat. The shower had hardly any water pressure at all. The sinks hardly drained at all. The bathroom smelled of mildew. The windowsill in the bedroom had a hole in about 1-2 inches in diameter. The window could not be opened even a tiny bit and it would have been nice to have some fresh air. If we put the air conditioner on it felt like a blast of arctic air going across our bed and it was unbearable. The worst of it was when I put the “privacy please” sign on the outside door handle the maid just came in anyway while I was sitting on the bed. There wasn't even a knock. It was very unnerving. On another day, when a maid came, she asked me what I needed done and since it had been 2 days I asked for some clean towels and for the trash to be emptied. She emptied some trash but ignored the bathroom trash and couldn't even refill the empty container for the toilet paper which I didn't notice until after she left. I had even left her a $5 tip for her 1 minute of work. We had a pile of empty plastic bottles and newspapers sitting there the whole week, but neither maid would take those out. Overall, this used to be nice place and we've stayed here many times over the last few years, but now I don't know now if I would ever come back here. It was extremely disappointing.

"Family friendly hotel"
Sarah K, 03 Mars 2019

I stayed here with my husband and 2 year old son and we had a great experience. We had a corner suite with a fireplace and recently remodeled bathroom. Breakfast was adequate and the location was great for walking to the beach and downtown.

"Our "go to" hotel for surf trips to Santa Cruz."
Michael H, 21 Février 2019

We cakes free surfing trips to Santa Cruz per year. We want a hotel that's clean, comfortable beds, and good breakfast. This hotel has met those needs just fine for the last eight or nine years. In addition, it is centrally located in Santa Cruz which makes our walks downtown or even to the wharf relatively easy.

"Ok place but not if your on a motorcycle."
Eagleyes5, 19 Février 2019

Had been on motorcycles for 2 days through all kinds of weather and all we wanted was a hot tub. We called ahead to confirm they had a hot tub and the receptionist confirmed they had one so we paid a lot extra to stay here. Get there unload all our gear was looking forward to relaxing in a hot tub and its not working and is filthy with branches from the trees in it looks like it had been down for awhile. Nothing more disappointing when you ride and need to warm the bones. I did make reception aware and she did apologize but nothing offered. The rooms shower had no pressure and vending machine on 3 floor is down. Second floor its missing and didnt know there was one on first floor even after I asked at the front desk if there were any vending machines that worked. I wouldn't stay here again if I come back on a motorcycle cycle cruise. On a positive note thou the rooms are very clean. But was still cold and sore by morning for another day on the road.

"Best Western Plus Santa Cruz"
George B, 06 Janvier 2019

Nice location and ample free parking underground. Building is nice and clean and lobby area is bright and inviting. Seating area around fireplace and tv. This area also has lots of tables and chairs since is serves a eating area for included breakfast. Breakfast included many fresh fruit and pastry items. Eggs and bacon and sausage. Cereals and yogurt. Great variety. Room was good size. I had 2 queen room with TV for the 2 beds. There was also a sitting area with a separate couch and TV. Very pleased with room size and amenities.

"Christmas in Santa Cruz"
Dreamer12579168055, 01 Janvier 2019

We visited our cousins in Santa Cruz during Christmas, staying in the Best Western Plus which was very close to our relatives. We enjoyed visiting them and experiencing some of the amenities that Santa Cruz has to offer - the beach, red bike rental, Pier and the Boardwalk.

"Nice room for family of 5"
Itchy0512, 20 Décembre 2018

3 teenagers. Very nice decor. Very clean. Excellent bathroom with nice products. Great beds. Good seating options.Included breakfast was fine, with some healthy options. Close to downtown and the beach boardwalk area.

"Awful, awful, awful"
493HaroldB, 15 Novembre 2018

We wanted to use Santa Cruz as a jumping off spot to explore the coast. Our room wasn't ready at 4 o'clock, but we were greeted by a pleasant woman at the check in counter once we figured out how to get in. The building is receiving a face lift and plaster and paint are everywhere. The rooms are weirdly configured as both couples in my part had king suites but were nothing alike., our room wasn't cleaned over a 48 hour period and cob webs were evident in the corners. A large stain greeted you when you entered the room and the traffic noise prevented any serious sleep. Not recommended, sleep in your car!

"Recommend"
Cynthia W, 01 Novembre 2018

Great check in with Pattie and out with Eva. Good Breakfast with plenty of selection. Our room had a jetted tub and fireplace. Nice and cozy...We have stayed here twice now and look forward to the next time we are in town.

"Friendly service, good breakfast, large room"
ksanybody, 23 Octobre 2018

My husband and I stayed overnight the second weekend of Sept 2018. It was not crowded the weekend after Labor Day, and fine for use as a place to stay when visiting friends. Our room was facing Ocean Ave and so we got some late-night drag-racing traffic noise, but that really didn't bother me much as I sleep with earplugs when traveling.

"Just Average quality"
YCRealtor, 22 Octobre 2018

This hotel was nothing special. I was expecting a better quality experience for the cost. It appears that it may have used to have been an outdoor corridors hotel that was converted to indoor. There was a window facing the indoor corridor (odd). The room had a cobweb from one side to the other. I showed up an hour early for check in and was told the room wasn't clean yet. Returned an hour later (at scheduled check in ) and the room was still not ready yet. The girl behind the counter worked quickly to get a room for me and the other person there waiting. Just not the quality or experience I expect from an All-Suite hotel.

"Felt like a dingy crime scene"
hdayallen2018, 04 Octobre 2018

Considering the price relative to other establishments this place was very disappointing. Room smelled like toilet bowl cleaner and marijuana...pretty filthy. The windows looked they hadn't been cleaned since the 70s, there was blood on the curtains, the floor was sticky, the towels were dirty, the sofa was rank and the noise was unreal. I would have rather slept in my car. Never again.

"Thin Walls!"
Wayne H, 19 Septembre 2018

I do not recommend this hotel because of the super thin walls. Tried to get an upper floor but front desk said they didn't have any available. So not only was there a loud group of people next to us, but a noisy neighbor above us also. I usually just turn on the bathroom fan for some 'white noise' but it's on a motion sensor with auto shutoff timer that can't be overridden! So none of us got a goods night's sleep! If your a heavy sleeper or wear earplugs, this might be a place for you because of location and it is clean. Not really an 'all suite' hotel though, because there is a sofa with a TV and a few feet away there is the bed with another TV - No divider at all.

"Front desk service"
Mr_V1011, 14 Septembre 2018

Elizabeth, The young lady @ the front desk is ever so helpful... Any question I have, from places to eat or places to visit on my downtime it helps that she is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. When I had a request for my room she was more than happy to help me with it and took care of it on the spot, It's a pleasure to be greeted with a smiling face after a long days work, if for no other reason Elizabeth would be the reason for me staying here again.... Thank you Elizabeth for your kindness, helpfulness and great attitude keep up the good work... Mr. V

"Good hotel"
jose m, 28 Août 2018

Location: On the main street (Ocean) close to downtown and boardwalk. Hotel: Single building- 3-4 stories high with an open ground floor parkinglot Room: Good size room, smaller sized bathroom, Small livingroom area and wetbar Positives: Location to downtown and beach, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms. Negatives: Cannot switch tv to HDMI unless they bring you the master remote. Ranking at time of writing: #20 of 54 Hotels in Santa Cruz As stated this hotel is close enough to downtown but a bit of a walk to the actual beach. Conveniently located on the main street and easy to find. There's a CVS a short drive (walk-able too). Hotel is very clean and the employees i encountered were very nice and helpful. Only experienced a problem with the TVs but it was quickly solved. Thank you Eva and Justin!

"Does what is says on the tin"
Dave B, 28 Août 2018

This is an OK hotel for an OK price. The location is pretty good (pier and sea front are walkable) Breakfast could be better and our room was right by the ice machine so only 4 stars I'm afraid. It had potential to be better. Massive room and was very comfy.

"Elizabeth & Eli Outstanding Customer Service"
Adam H, 24 Août 2018

Elizabeth and Eli (Front Desk) were extremely helpful in helping me find a solution to a third party booking agency's problem. They were outgoing, funny, and extremely efficient in helping me find a place to stay. Best customer service I've experienced in a long time!

"General Manager Ana Super Courteous and Attentive"
Jennifer D, 22 Août 2018

The Front desk staff and General Manager Ana were super attentive and understanding concerning an error with my reservation that was made through a third party website. The front staff alerted Ana to the situation and she immediately corrected the problem. Ana was friendly, helpful and gracious without exception. That being said, I'd recommend staying at this hotel knowing that the staff and general manger will not disappoint.

"This was a fine hotel."
glendq, 19 Août 2018

I was not sure about this hotel from some of the comments of the reviews but it turned out to be a very nice clean and quiet place for me to stay. Parking is very tight and I did scrap the rearview mirror on the right side of the car backing out of the stall cause there was a post very close to the car.

"One Night Stay"
ars629, 16 Août 2018

I would have to say that we got a pretty good price for a two room suite. It was a huge room but not set up well. It's like they just busted down the wall to make two rooms into one. They need to do some major updates to the room and add more furniture. Our couch had crumbs from the previous patrons, and the shower curtain rack was on a screw barely holding on. The bed was nice, but the room needs a makeover badly. The hotel halls were filthy, a little vacuum could help. But the front desk staff was amazing. We won't be coming back, but it was ok for a night.

"Average accommodation in a less than average City"
Slg_Cal2018, 16 Août 2018

Hotel reception staff were very helpful and the highlight of the stay: public areas were dirty and the stairwell and elevator filthy. Rooms are basic although large however there was a significant amount of staining to the sofa bed in our room - not at all enticing to sleep in. Overall, given it was our first time to Santa Cruz were were astonished at how run down the City is given the high price of accommodation. We will not be coming back, the Pismo area is far cleaner, family friendly and does not suffer with the socio-economic issues that were staggeringly obvious in SC

"Hobbit Bed and No Blankets ??"
edp584, 11 Août 2018

We attempted to get a blanket so our son could sleep on the floor since the foldout couch is smaller than a single bed (close to toddler size in width), no way to sleep two on it like I was told. We were told numerous times that the hotel had no extra blankets at the time and to try back later .... we tried back later 4 times over the course of 3 hours until it was nearing midnight before giving up. I find it very hard to believe that a Best Western hotel has not a single extra blanket... this fell way short of my regular Best Western.

"Not sure why this is a “Plus” Hotel"
Julia G, 02 Août 2018

This hotel was obviously an Embassy Suites at one time. It's nice to have the additional sitting area but it's so dark and depressing in that little corner. The room had a weird smell. More like sweat than smoke, and the furniture was pretty scratched up. My drapes were broken so had to leave the left one open. I was told I'd been upgraded but I couldn't fathom what I gained. Pros: helpful Patti at the front desk, comfortable bed. I'm a Platinum rewards member and this has been my most disappointing stay with Best Western.

"Good Location for Slug Families"
CaNative07, 02 Août 2018

We stayed here as this hotel offers a discount for UC Santa Cruz families. It's in a good location; very central and close to River Walk area and a short drive to UCSC. Covered parking is another plus, but can be tight and is not guaranteed. We requested a 2-queen room. It also had a sofa bed in the separate living area. It was very comfortable for myself, my husband and our daughter. Hotel is in general good shape. A/C in the room worked really well. Some peeling paint in the bathroom which otherwise looked recently remodeled. Odd windows that open to the hallway - they do have blinds. Amenities in the room were a little bizarre. We had 4 servings of coffee (great), but 3 were decaf (whaaa?). We had conditioner, but no shampoo. Some plugs in the room worked, some didn't. The hotel's computer station printer did not work at all, and one computer didn't have a mouse. We did not stay for breakfast but it looked like a nice set up. Check the amenities: no bar in this hotel, which for families dropping a kid off at college may be necessary. ;)

"Trip to Boardwalk with Grandchildren"
Charles K, 26 Juillet 2018

We booked a suite (two rooms combined). It is a newer hotel, not in walking distance to the boardwalk. The suite was large, but not well designed. There was also no information on channels of the TV, services etc. in the room. Merely the bible. Service was slow... we needed the pull away sofa made up... they eventually delivered sheets so we made it up ourselves. One of the kids did lose a toy and it was recovered and delivered by the front desk (we were thankful). The breakfast was okay and worked well for the grandkids.

"Breakfast was a nightmare"
JorIB88, 25 Juillet 2018

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and I booked it remembering that it was good the last time. The rooms are nice, and the bathrooms looks brand new. Parking can be a hassle in the evening as the garage was totally full, and we had a big SUV that could not fit in the compact spaces. The breakfast was a NIGHTMARE! It seemed that all the guests in the hotel wanted to have breakfast at the same time, and almost everything was empty. No eggs, no bacon, no bagels, no cream cheese, no waffle batter. The person working in the breakfast area seemed a little overwhelmed, and did not have anything to refill other than some nasty hamburgers.

"Good service"
lourdegarov, 23 Juillet 2018

the rooms very clean and spacious, the service very good. the elevator needs an anti-slip mat or floor because the People who come from the jacuzzi leave everything wet on the floor and it is very dangerous and dirty. the breakfast is good but the line for the waffles takes away the appetite to anyone and the scrambled eggs do not taste like eggs and the texture is quite unpleasant.

"Mediocre hotel with high prices"
Jennifer S, 10 Juillet 2018

Worst Best Western we've ever stayed in. Property and rooms need upgrading. Our room had multiple missing amenities when we arrived (no hand towels, no shampoo, no sugar/creamer packets for coffee, no TV guide, no visitors guide). Bathroom had pedestal sink with no room for toiletry bag. Shower stall wasn't cleaned thoroughly. Overall dinginess to rooms and facility. Breakfast was just ok. We were given a 20% discount on one night (of three) because of my complaints. For the high price of this stay, we should not have had anything to complain about. If the prices were more reasonable, this isn't a horrible place to stay -- about a mile from the beach boardwalk. They just need to up their game.

"Do not stay in a room on the 3rd floor - #316"
oaktree2015, 09 Juillet 2018

I thought there would be less noise from adjoining rooms by staying on the top floor - wrong! The heavy air conditioning units for the hotel are mounted above this room. They operate 24 hours a day - noise and vibration - making sleep impossible. The room was partially remodeled recently - no carpet - floor tile - easy to clean - less luxurious. Bathroom has very poor lighting for shaving and showering - saves electricity. TV screen is too small to view from the bed especially if you are over 60 years old. The housekeepers were repositioning their carts in the hall way blocking us and they did not say good morning or excuse me. The "Seattle" brand of coffee tasted like sewer water. On a good note the waffle machine makes great waffles and the outdoor spa is clean and relaxing at night.

"Comfortable and spacious"
GoodKarmaTraveler, 26 Juin 2018

Our room was huge with a living room and a bedroom separated by the bathroom and vanity. Excellent Wi-Fi and nice desk in the living room. A breakfast way above average for a hotel breakfast. Fresh fruit of several kinds. Cute little waffles. Hot eggs and bacon. Cereals. Yogurt. Juices, etc. We were by the street and didn't hear a thing. Very quiet. And the King-sized bed was terrific. There was a TV in both the living room and in the bedroom.

"2 room suite nice"
Rebecca G, 10 Juin 2018

Staying one Saturday night in suite with 5 of us for Santa Cruz boardwalk. Room was clean, 1 king bed, 1 queen and 1 full pull out couch. The in room jacuzzi tub was a plus I wasn't expecting. 3 large tvs, fridge, microwave and air condtioner. Staff was very helpful. Only 18 minute walk to boardwalk. Breakfast was good, large variety and plenty of coffee. Parking available to guests. Room cost was reasonable for time of year. Only concerns would be a night there is questionable people in area. Enough so I would recommend not roaming around outside at night. Pretty typical of any larger city.

"Breakfast was Great! Carpets need work."
LMoccia, 23 Mai 2018

Overall our stay was enjoyable. The hotel was relatively quiet and comfortable. Breakfast left nothing to be desired - it was really good and I would recommend the hotel just for that. Location was convenient, though not as close to downtown as others. The carpets and furnishings in the room are aging and it shows. This point may not have made it onto this review, however there was also a thick layer of dust around the edges of the carpets in the room where they meet the walls.

"Itchy night stay"
miguelsalazar80, 19 Mai 2018

The room was nice but once we laid in the bed we started to itch all over we got very little sleep and checked out the next morning and stood some where else where we didn't start itching and finally had a good night sleep

"Needs remodeling"
Jeremy B, 11 Mai 2018

The pictures of the rooms on the internet isnt the actuall room (hotel) room.Stains on walls in room, stains on carpet, holes in curtains for the windows, and drain plug in shower wouldn't stay open in shower.

"Excellent service from Eva at the Front Desk"
mpmann, 05 Mai 2018

I have been staying for several weeks on work related business. I tend to stay here during the work week, and go home for the weekend. This week I checked out on Friday with reservations to return on Sunday. A few hours later I discovered that my plans had to change, and I reappeared at the front desk to see if I could check back in. Despite it being a busy weekend, Eva was able to move my regular reservation to Saturday, and then find me a different room for Friday evening. On Saturday morning she called me to let me know that my long term room was ready ahead of schedule, and I could transfer right over. I was delighted with her efforts on my behalf!

"Pleasant surprise"
Kate C, 03 Mai 2018

This hotel was a great choice. We usually stay at a different hotel down the road but they didn't have rooms. We were worried about the reviews online but as soon as we went in the door we knew we got a great deal. Room was really big and clean I think they had just been redone. The kid at the desk around 7pm was very friendly and had someone bring out new cookies after we got back from dinner. The food at breakfast ran out fast but they were nice and filled it up the best they could. There was a jacuzzi but we wish they had a pool too We're already booking our next trip this summer.

"Fantastic trip"
jrhoads7902, 28 Avril 2018

We had a really nice stay last week. We had stayed a few months ago and weren't that impressed but they have made some upgrades. The breakfast room was clean and kept stocked and they had fresh warm cookies at the desk when we checked in. My kids enjoyed the spa, and everyone was friendly and smiling. Overall great time, will most likely stay next time we come up.

"All Suites and Great People..."
GRSTraveler, 23 Avril 2018

Easy location to get to with underground parking my car loved it. Smooth check in like they were waiting for me (Eva) and when I mentioned going out to dinner gave me discount coupons introducing me to a fine dining experience. Atrium with skylights made breakfast invigorating with a family atmosphere. Quite enough to get my business done undisturbed. The staff made an effort to get to know me and say hello by name (Jessica)

"Close to beach, good for the family"
ljtex2, 14 Avril 2018

This is our 3rd stay at BWP all suites Inn. It is about 1.5 miles from the beach and boardwalk and an easy drive to amenities, restaurants and shopping. This is a good hotel for a family with free breakfast, at least 2 larger family suites with private space for adults and kids. There is a fitness center, which my husband used daily, as well as an very small outdoor pool/hot tub. The room we stayed in is like 2 rooms combined with a shared living room and dining area, 2 bathrooms and a queen bed in each space. It came equipped with min fridge and microwave, 2 sinks and plenty of counter and storage space. I note this because we brought groceries for lunch and snacks and had a place to store it all. There is a parking garage for the hotel and it is tight, especially if you drive a van or larger SUV. The beds were fine, we only had trouble with a few minor maintenance items that took almost the whole visit to be addressed. There was a blown out light bulb in our room which my husband reported immediately and was promised someone would come change it on Tues. night. No one came he reported it again and ended up going to the front desk and requesting bulbs and changed them himself. The bench in our room had a crack and was broken, we reported it and were told we would get it taken care of quickly. Again my husband had to call back the next day and then a man found a bench to replace our bench (used at the dining table by our kids), this on our last nigh of stay. My husband noticed another blown out light by the room door and ended up changing it himself instead of waiting for repair, which at this point was slow. These things were annoying but not enough to dissuade me from staying here again. There was also the annoying problem of a family who checked in on our last night and allowed their child to repeatedly run up and down the hotel room for hours (as late as 11pm). We called it in and it finally stopped only to start again at 6 a.m. the next morning, fortunately we were checking out that day. The staff is nice and professional, breakfast good, this is not a fancy family hotel, but satisfactory with a beach vibe.

"Terrible"
cassieharang, 06 Avril 2018

Customer service was the worst when our items were damaged in washer it was like nothing to them they credit me back what they thought the item was worth I would not stay there again all that money no.

"Really nice"
whittier, 30 Mars 2018

Clean, updated hotel in a convenient location. What more do you need? Friendly employees, easy check in/out and a nice large suite for two nights, that's what. Well stocked breakfast area with plenty of items to choose from. You can easily walk to shopping and restaurants from this location. It is situated on a busy intetsection but no noise problems. Only drawback (and we forgot to notify the front desk) was the tv in the bedroom would cut out every now and then and create lots of static. Not really an issue since there was also a tv in the front room. All in all, two thumbs up.

"Spring break in CA"
Claudia T, 18 Mars 2018

We stayed here for one night. It was a convenient location from the boardwalk and had free breakfast which suited us traveling with kids. Checking in quick and was easy, and they accommodated checking us in early since a room was ready. We arrived on a Tuesday morning, which may not be the busiest time generally. Irene at the front desk even upgraded us to a larger suite where we had room to spread out a bit more, which we appreciated. We did agree to sign up for their free rewards program which helped. The breakfast was great as noted in reviews. A nice offering of eggs, bacon, waffles, cereals, pastries, fruit, coffee, and juices. The property was clean and we were comfortable for a one night stay.

"Horrible, for the price and cleanliness I wauld stay at motel 6"
julioroman10, 12 Mars 2018

I am a Diamond member and have been a customer for 8 years. I frequently used Best Western for work all the time. This is the worst Best Western I have ever stayed at. I had choices for my family get together and drove 3 hours with my pregnant wife to stay at your hotel. We were very disappointed. After our stay we had a skin rash and we both had headaches, we needed to go to the doctors.

"Bed bugs"
K6706PQhannahh, 08 Février 2018

Yup. Stayed in a two bedroom suite with a little crawly in my bed sheets. GROSS. I checked out a day early because I was very disturbed by it. Reception apologized, but that's it. I will never stay here again.

"Nice big room"
WeeLuv2Travel2, 07 Février 2018

Checked in early afternoon and were happy to get checked in right away. Room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Underground parking was fine and there was a cart close by to take our luggage upstairs. Bathroom was clean but it took ages for the hot water to come through which was a concern in this drought situation. Breakfast was ok but not too many healthy options. That being said, would not hesitate to stay here again if in the area.

"Don't stay here!"
RichRey, 03 Février 2018

I booked a 2-rm suite with 2 queen beds for a weekend trip with the family. This was a mistake. The lobby and staff were nice but the people hanging around were questionable. There was a lady with a bunch of bags in the middle of the hall working on her bike and a guy, not an employee, walking around the halls like he was lost or looking for something. The room was older. Carpet was a thin, stained carpet. One of the curtains had a tear in it. The beds were old, uncomfortable, and squeaked like crazy. The worst part was the smell. I opened the window to air out the room but the smell lingered. I couldn't place it until I was in the restroom. There was a piece of feces just under the lip of the toilet. It wasn't a small piece either. I asked to have house keeping come and clean and de-odorize the room while we went out for a bit. When we got back, the smell was gone, for the most part. After working in a hospital I'm a bit of a clean freak. I wash my hands constantly. The next morning I woke up with pink eye. I can't remember that last time I have ever gotten pink eye. My suspicion was the pillows. Skip breakfast. Do your family and self a favor and don't stay here. You've been warned.

"Not bad, horrible entrance"
Wara P, 28 Janvier 2018

It was really difficult for us to parking and finding the lobby, signals are poor and bad located. The lady on front desk gave us some directions to get to a boardwalk we could never get to. In the other hand, the hotel is located in a nice zone and Santa Cruz has amazing sunset.

"Noisy and worn"
M S, 16 Janvier 2018

Hotel was very noisy with street noise excessive (on a busy intersection) and interior noise almost as bad from the lobby. Rooms are dated and worn. Not sure what their definition of a suite was but our room was a very average basic hotel room. Not a suite at all. Poor value for the money.

"One night turned into two ..."
shiltsfamily, 12 Janvier 2018

Nice, friendly hotel, we were road tripping from the midwest on college tours down the coast and this was our first stop. We intended to do one night here and ended up staying two. Loved Santa Cruz and this was a reasonably priced, good location to start our California adventure

"Fun, Relaxing Place to Stay"
nellf2018, 01 Janvier 2018

I enjoy coming here with my family. The suite allows enough room for us to spread out. The Jacuzzi is a winner with kids and adults alike. Breakfast makes things easy. I bring my own additions, such as smoked salmon, to make it more enjoyable. Great location. comfortable beds and room, friendly staff.

"Great Location-walking distance to Downtown Santa Cruz"
hameda223, 01 Janvier 2018

The location of Best Western is great. Super close to boardwalk and walking distance to downtown. We stayed on NYE for reggae show at Catalyst. Check in was easy however our room wasn't ready until 4pm. We had room 225 which had a balcony. Unfortunately you're not allowed to smoke but it was nice. The rooms were clean but very dated. They needed a good painting. Parking is underground and very limited for large trucks but we managed. Other than a horrible experience at Hula's Grill downtown...we had a good sleep and decent coffee in the morning...

"Ok stay"
Flamingo411, 31 Décembre 2017

We arrived at 6pm for check in. The lady kind of states at the computer perplexed for most of the check in. Not very welcoming. The elevators are small and Very very slow. The room had scant bedding for the sofa bed. Just sheets and one pillow in the dead of winter. Had to call for pillows and blanket, which they made us go pick up at the front desk. Never had this happen at a hotel before. Room only had towels for 2, we were a family of 4. The bathroom qas nice and updated. The bed comfortable. The AC/Heating unit dated, and the unappealing carpets stained. Overall, good price, and good enough for one night but could probably find something better. Lots of choices in town.

"California Dreaming"
AuntieMame10, 28 Décembre 2017

Nice property. Getting in is tricky. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The TV's not the best quality. The lobby I was told had once been the home of an indoor pool. Kinda funny for California. They remodeled the hotel and removed the pool to make more space for the breakfast area. Well like many remodels it falls short of being done right. The breakfast area is cramped and the food is zig zaging in the funky room configuration and very cramped and hard to maneuver around. The counter depth is very shallow and things are laid out as best as they can be for a poorly designed attempt at a breakfast area that customers requested. The staff was lovely, the room clean, the beds comfy, I would just have hired a better architect to remove a pool and convert it to a room. They did a cute job on the beach theme design, but cute is not always practical and this case barley functional.

"Happy with visit"
joyfuljess, 26 Décembre 2017

We got here a little early for check-in. Unfortunately we were informed that a lot of the cleaning staff had called in sick so it would be a while. We asked to leave our luggage with them in case we decided to go somewhere, the staff was very helpful and friendly and recommended restaurants and activities nearby while we waited. My kids and I were tired from driving all day so we sat in the spacious lobby for an hour or so and then decided to go get dinner. We walked across the street to the Thai place and then walked back and a room was ready for us. We got room 332, top floor. So far we love the room. I'm in the bed area watching TV and my kids are in the sitting area reading and playing with Legos and enjoying the breeze coming in through the window. The room is clean and very spacious. The bed feels firm, not sure how comfy the pull out is yet.

"Santa Cruz Best for Family"
gorg33, 25 Décembre 2017

Excellent location for our family to visit Santa Cruz. Breakfast very nice, parking convenient. Rooms large, beds comfortable. We hiked in the nearby mountains, visited the beach three times, enjoyed walking downtown and delicious meals in the area.

"Retro Beach Vibe"
Jennifer E, 23 Décembre 2017

This is an older hotel that embodies the surfing and beach vibe of Santa Cruz with its retro decor. We stayed in a third floor suite and it was very quiet, clean and welcoming with a total of 3 large screen TVs, microwave and refrigerator. It is within walking distance to the boardwalk and many other retail stores. The parking was free with an underground garage with security and there was an elevator to the lobby and other floors which could be accessed with your room card/key only. I would definitely stay again.

"It's fine"
chienandalusian, 18 Décembre 2017

Not fantastic, not the worst, just a fairly average hotel that has clearly seen better days. Could use a general upgrade and freshening. My room had a bedroom area with, oddly, a window that looked out into the hallway, and a separate area with a couch and table and TV. The room was fine, it just seemed a little dated. Friendly staff. Spacious on-site garage. Good location in Santa Cruz. You could do worse, but you could do better too.

"Avoid"
354kareno, 12 Décembre 2017

Not worth the rate being charged— no one should pay a cent more than $60/night. Don't get suckered in by Reward Point offers— they try hard not to let you use them. We cut short our vacation stay here due to these and a number of other issues that I won't take the time to list, but here are the troubling highlights: 1. Safety first. Tripping hazards: carpet unraveling at bathroom door, light switches and lamps poorly chosen with a missing bulb we had to order and dresser drawers that won't stay closed. No safe to store valuables. 2. Atmosphere: Lighting can't be adjusted above glum in living room/kitchen area. No dressing mirror in the king bed room. The sliding doors between the bedrooms doesn't close. Scratchy pilled poly-blend extra blanket is not cozy on the too hard and small couch. Having to sign into wifi several times is annoying. 3. Bathroom: Has the only hook in the entire suite (2 bedroom queen king suite, room 323), from which a hairdryer is hung. Barely thick enough course toilet paper and towels. So little surface area meant we had to place brushes, combs and such to the desk area. The baffled shower head robs pressure to rinse well. No bath mat. 4. Because of the lack of hooks, you'll need hangers, but have too few. And that's only one of the items you'll want to talk with the hotel staff about, but you won't find paper or a pen. 5. Comfort: right off the bat we had a low battery message on the thermostat which did not work. The clock was an hour off, but I guess Best Western Plus thinks resetting is the guest's job. 6. Coffee packets not resupplied. 7. TV: no way to correct aspect ratio so the picture is distorted. The remotes are terribly slow and not because of the batteries, but bad design, which they push as a “Clean Remote” for “easy cleaning.” No cable service guide to channels. This is a property needing attention, but claims to have been refurbished. We're feeling ripped off by Best Western.

"Needs a deep cleaning"
Chris D, 05 Décembre 2017

The hotel is in a decent location and the staff was friendly. However, the carpet in the room was stained and disgusting. It looked like a cheap motel. I expect better from Best Western, they usually have a much cleaner presentation.

"Great People, Great Location!"
Curtis G, 03 Décembre 2017

We were very satisfied with the great customer service and price for the location. BW never fails to start you off with a nice breakfast that will fill you up. The front staff for morning and night (Marissa and Elijah) displayed wonderful hospitality, offering their knowledge of nearby restaurants and resources. We will be staying here once again very soon, just would love to see the carpets completely clean. Other than that we enjoyed our stay!

"Good location"
mexicoamigo, 01 Décembre 2017

Older property with some updates. Good breakfast included. Our room was in the back, lower level, dead end. Wife was uncomfortable with the room location, but we did not ask to be moved to another room. It was a little spooky back there, but room was OK.

"Breakfast is Awesome!"
Manuela C, 27 Novembre 2017

ok. The rugs throughout could use a serious upgrade, however, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We added an extra night because of the breakfast! It was awesome with really good choices of breakfast foods. Hot and ready to eat each day! The staff were very nice and friendly. Our room was super comfy too! Loved this hotel.

"Bed Like Sleeping On a Board"
C7621MNdeans, 27 Novembre 2017

The room was clean and had a decent layout. I was not thrilled with the bathroom who puts a pedestal sink in a hotel bathroom no place to store anything. The worst part was the bed it was awful. I did not get a decent nights sleep all week while staying there. Also the underground garage stunk and should have been sprayed down or something to clean it. The breakfast was average but got old when all they change was the meat from bacon to sausage. I probably would not stay at this hotel again. It was a good location but beware there are a lot of homeless people around the area.

I would like to say I will stay here again even though I had an issue at check in was given a room that was dirty and not made up. Staff was not very accommodating when we asked for a room outside of the inside court rooms as the 2 rooms we were given (1 dirty and 1 clean) both of these rooms had no windows or air flow which leaves the room with an odor. After about 30 minute of running the air the odor subsided. Was not pleased with staff as he blamed the computer for telling him the room was cleaned. He went on by saying his computer said the room was cleaned..I asked does the supervisor check prior to checking the room was cleaned? No response. All in all the hotel is fine and worth the value due to the location and the rooms were fairly average - not enough electrical outlets by bed for a sleep machine - good thing I bring an extension cord.

"Great Place to Stay in Santa Cruz"
Chris A, 13 Novembre 2017

We enjoyed nice rooms, with comfortable beds. We stayed in a King Suite. .Great Service. Everyone was friendly, Breakfast included, eggs, waffles, bacon, yogurt, fruit. The hotel is close to everything, It is a nice walk to the beach or SC Warriors game.

"Predictably Good"
David P, 12 Novembre 2017

We've come to rely on this Best Western Plus for clean, quiet, well- appointed rooms when we come to Santa Cruz. It's location is really central to the things we like to do - in fact it's within moderate walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shopping and movies. The hot breakfast buffet offers enough variety to put it above others. Staff are always friendly. Try it and you'll see!

"Happy"
elizabethtA521VI, 10 Novembre 2017

Nice rooms but heater had much dust inside of so I didn't use it. A little too much noise outside at night for a weekday. I could here people talking and yelling right outside my window in the middle of the night. The breakfast was yummy and nutritious!

"NOT CLEAN!!"
carolinam, 09 Novembre 2017

The bathroom was very dirty with hair from previous customer(s) all over the bathroom floor and very dirty carpets and couch.. Very bad odor in the room and could not open the window to alleviate the smell since there was some type of child lock on the window. There are much better/cleaner hotels in Santa Cruz....

"Scary place."
3Constance2016, 08 Novembre 2017

We checked in here and were horrified at the exposed dripping pipes in the lobby and shabby dirty carpet. The bed was hard, pillows hard and woke up to smoke coming in. Later fire alarms and fire trucks appeared.

"Best Western Santa Cruz"
Darlene H, 08 Novembre 2017

We have stayed at this hotel many times in the last couple of years. It is clean , close to everything and they have a great spread for breakfast, The staff is always friendly and are quick to help if there are any issues.

"Used to be a friendly welcoming place"
Jeffrey Z, 06 Novembre 2017

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times; given the great location, reasonable price and pleasant, clean surroundings it is my go to place in Santa Cruz. Staff used to be welcoming and acknowledging of frequent visitors. However, on this visit things had clearly changed, and their was little of the customer service attitude I found so responsive in the past. I found, too, that they had misrepresented or left out some key points of policy, such as the never stated anywhere one car per room (which was never before the case) and the "suite" with the pull out sofa "bed" which was more like a small cot. I hope they go back to the lovely Santa Cruz vibe of the past as the hotel has a lot going for it.

"Seriously?"
Kurt A, 29 Octobre 2017

We checked in about 3p. Noticed a woman sitting in her car next to ours when we parked. Didn't think about it much. Left and retuned about 4 hours later and she was still sitting in her car. I went to notify the office. The clerk said, “oh yes we know. She's been here since yesterday. Her card was declined so she stayed in her car.” I'm sorry - WHAT?? She went on to say, “if you think it's a problem we can ask her to leave.” I'm sorry - WHAT??? Why don't YOU think it's a problem? And isn't it enough that I brought it to your attention enough for you to act on it? Unfortunately the rest of the stay was decent - but I can't recommend this place based on that.

"Beat expectation"
Bruce P, 28 Octobre 2017

Very nice surprise as we were allowed to check in way early, 12:30 pm. This almost never happens. The front desk even gave us a choice of 2 different floors. They upgraded us to a suite instead of the mini-suite that we had booked. The room was clean and well appointed with a large flat screen tv in both the sitting room and the bedroom. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Sometimes things don't work"
P505BPsteveng, 27 Octobre 2017

The TV remote did not work and after the staff changed the batteries still no joy. I did figure out how to make the TV work manually so all was not lost. Also there was no Black or Green tea at breakfast. The staff really tried to help and make things work.

"Quiet and Cozy Stay"
LAECJ, 22 Octobre 2017

We arrived extremely early (10:30 am) to the hotel unexpectedly. We called the hotel to see if by chance we could get an early check in or just drop our luggage off. Marissa was very friendly and was able to get us into our room right away. She was very helpful and provided us with some recommendations for near by restaurants and attractions. The hotel was in a prefect location for us. Our room (#209) was quiet and comfortable. The continental breakfast was delicious and convenient to start the day. We enjoyed our 2 nights stay at the hotel so much, we decided to stay another night. We had already checked out and left the hotel when we decided four hours later, we wanted to stay another night. Marissa was helpful again in getting our room quickly cleaned so we could check in again. We will definitely come back to this hotel when we return to Santa Cruz. Caution to those with larger SUV's....the parking spaces under this hotel are small. The parking garage is one way in one way out. We were lucky and got a decent spot every night. There were some larger vehicles that had to take up two spots due to their size.

"A good value"
365lynnes, 20 Octobre 2017

The staff is very cheery and welcoming. The suite was large and clean. The hotel was quiet during the night. We slept well. The breakfast had a variety of items and was well staffed. The coffee was excellent.

"Family road trip"
jackwillsboot, 19 Octobre 2017

We did a 2 night stay here back in July on our California road trip. Lovely hotel, great parking facilities. Room was lovely, plenty of amenities. Breakfast great with plenty of choice. Walkable (just about) to the Boardwalk and downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

"Very functional and clean but really bad parking"
LADuckFan, 16 Octobre 2017

This wasn't my favorite Best Western. Its very clean and comfortable but lacks the special amenities I usually enjoy at a Best Western. My real hang up was the bad parking. You need to get there early for a parking spot -- when I asked I was told your contract doesn't guarantee a parking spot...

"Great Family Stay!"
letherbuck, 10 Octobre 2017

Being renovated..which means, for instance, the stairwell had a wet paint sign on it…no biggy. This is an older best western that they are fixing up. Some parts are great already, some still need a little updating, but staff works hard to keep it clean. They are friendly, make you feel at home. Went out of their way to help. We had been disappointed with our hotel the night before, scheduled for another night there, but we asked to leave early, called the Best Western All Suites Inn, said they would be happy to take us and would give us a 2 room double queen, with pullout sofa, sitting area and table and chairs for the same price as our double queen very tiny room down the street. When we arrived to check in, I asked if it was for sure the 2 room double queen with sofa and the guy smiled and said, even better, we upgraded you to the 2 room king suite with 2 bathrooms!!! Awesome!!! Happy family! What a blessing! We were able to do laundry while there…$1.00 for wash, $1.50 for dry per load. Parking is a parking garage under hotel, a little tight for suburbans, etc. but our car was fine. Parking is free so that was nice. We all filled up with breakfast buffet, nice coffee/tea selection, waffles, bread, peanut butter, cereals, fruit, eggs, bacon. We could have lived in this room..it was so spacious.

"My absolute favorite hotel!!!"
melissacU1575SS, 04 Octobre 2017

Always clean, friendly staff, NICE rooms, away from the beach traffic but still close enough to the Boardwalk/Beaches. I feel safe here, the breakfast is always great and have never had a disappointing trip while staying here. Will not stay at any other hotel in the SC!!!!!

"Decent place to stay the night in Santa Cruz"
sarasC2937IL, 01 Octobre 2017

The hotel is undergoing remodeling and upgrades, so it's a mixed bag. The central atrium/breakfast area provides ample seating and lots of natural light. There is a decent spread of food (waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereal) and everything is consistently refilled. The suites are very spacious, but the beds are rather firm and uncomfortable. The sofa bed/couch also has really stiff cushions, so we didn't sit there. The carpets are worn, so we kept our shoes on. The pedestal sink in the bathroom provides scant space to place toiletries, and the shelf above the floor is so small, so we had to place our toiletry bags on top of our cooler that we kept in the bathroom. Also, the parking garage has narrower spots, so you may have difficulty parking a larger vehicle (we have a large, long SUV). You enter the hotel by taking the elevator or stairs up from the parking garage.

"Nice!"
Espikes, 01 Octobre 2017

All was in order. No problems except a large tear in seat of desk chair and there was only one trash can in the room. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is great. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. I would suggest to the hotel chain that they fix some issues with the parking garage. The spaces are too narrow. Also, even though we did not have any problems, it seems like there should be more security from the garage to the upstairs lobby and floors after 9:00 p.m,. or so.

"Great hotel. Regular visitor"
John L, 21 Septembre 2017

I stay here a few times a year. Always nice and the beds are comfortable. Traditional BW breakfast. Friendly staff. Easy to park. Restaurants are close. I'd rather stay at this Best Western out of any in the Sacramento area, I've tried several.

"Great location & price!"
brendac722016, 21 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for 1 night on our way to San Francisco...I didn't do much research because it was a last minute stay. We were very happy with this hotel. Was much bigger then what we thought, both front desk people at check in & check out were both very friendly. The rooms were very spacious with 2 queen beds and the bathroom was great because it was a "wet room" only down side in bathroom there are no shelves to put any of your belongings and there is space to add some sort of shelving. Downside to the bedroom was there was a strong odor like they used a lot of cleaning supplies or air freshener to cover up something. Once we the air conditioner on and I used 1/2 bottle of Febreeze it seemed to be ok. They offered complimentary breakfast which was very good, very nice breakfast area. The hotel looked very clean in the common areas and there is free parking. Great location to Santa Cruz pier where there are a lot of restaurants, shops. Would definitely stay here again.

"Great Stay"
likestotravel246, 18 Septembre 2017

We went to Santa Cruz to attend the Follies. The Hotel was within walking distance to the beach, the Civic Center and a wonderful restaurant where our family ate called Café Mare. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

"Great experience"
travlemom, 14 Septembre 2017

Very nice hotel, hot breakfast options, comfortable king bed in bedroom. Sofa-bed has the bar in it, so was a bit uncomfortable our daughter said. Otherwise a great place! Close to main access to downtown S.C.and neighboring restaurants

"First floor blues, but nice."
timidtravelerUs, 09 Septembre 2017

Nice room, fine sheets, and pillows, good wifi. Clean, although not sparkling. I was on the first floor in the back and noticed a door near my room, It was locked, so I felt secure. But then had a window in the room that opened right onto the sidewalk. I wish there was a more secure bar for that. Just felt a little insecure. I would ask for a front room. Nice cozy front entrance. Staff was friendly.

"Santa Cruz Trip"
Mary Jane L, 07 Septembre 2017

We receive a room with two queen beds and a large living room with a queen-size sofa bed. Spacious and very comfortable. However the firm bed was slightly uncomfortable for me although my daughters were fine with the firmness. The breakfast provided was delicious.

"Spacious and clean"
Catherine N, 06 Septembre 2017

Best Western Plus All Suites is a great place to stay. The staff were all very helpful, going out of their way to please us and make us feel welcome. The rooms were spacious and clean with a living room and bedroom separated by the bathroom in between. There was some street noise, but it died down later in the night. We ate complimentary hot breakfasts before going on our way, and the value for such a pleasant stay made this place excellent.

"DISGUSTING"
751tessar, 06 Septembre 2017

Unclean room. Don't go here unless you like unwashed pillows that reek like mildew and foul feet. So awful that the smell soaks into your skin and hair and you smell like it too. Dust everywhere. Do they ever vacuum? The manager was so rude, unprofessional, with a ghetto appearance. She even bad mouthed kids in front of my children. Not worth the money or the health concerns of not washing linens and pillows.

"Stayed here on work"
882christopherv, 03 Septembre 2017

Location was good, and the hotel overall was pretty alright. Stay was without issue. Pretty much, solid all the way around. Nothing much more about it than that--a pretty standard, run-of-the-mill hotel-ing experience.

"Convenient and Clean"
Ricechex01, 30 Août 2017

Room was clean. Parking was adequate and had no trouble finding spaces or fitting the car in them. Stayed in a corner room, not facing street. No noise. AC was cold. Good water pressure. Close to all.

"Great Destination"
Jay C, 29 Août 2017

Great hotel. Would bring family back again. The attitude of the staff was exceptional. The front desk staff was very helpful with all of our needs. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. There really isn't any one person to point out as everyone we encountered was friendly and accommodating.

"Short Santa Cruz Visit"
whl1310, 29 Août 2017

this was a short two night visit. Price was a little higher than I would have expected but was driven by supply and demand. Hotel location was within 25 to 30 minute walking distance. However, we drove the car and parked at the boardwalk for $15.00.

"Choose your room well"
Tony R, 25 Août 2017

This hotel has very mixed reviews. We would only recommend the room that we stayed in, #325. It is an enormous suite, looking over the back. It has three hand basins, two TVs, and is the size of a typical Santa Cruz apartment (well, almost). The quirks: the hand basins don't have stoppers. We bought a universal one (a large flat rubber circle) that worked fine - and the desk told us all the rooms had the same basins. Crazy in central coastal CA. Also through there are three hand basins there was no provision near them for hanging towels! Weird. Otherwise, a large comfortable room. We always found a parking space in the garage, but the spaces are narrow so you may have problems with a large SUV. The only other problem is the price - but this is Santa Cruz. We would go back but only to room 325.

"Clean, Efficient and Friendly"
juliecI2896PG, 21 Août 2017

Nice large suite that has a sleeper sofa as well! Breakfast was filling, eggs, bagels, bacon, waffle stations, juices everything needed to fuel your morning. Service was friendly and the rooms were large enough to move around. Coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave are in the room. Location close to Soquel street where there is a bunch of new restaurants and stores. 10 minute walk to the Boardwalk. Overall, great hotel.

"Santa Cruz Delight"
Steven P, 21 Août 2017

A very clean comfortable friendly place. Only a mile from the boardwalk and wharf. Underground parking was a little tight but manageable. The breakfasts were great, the staff were friendly and very helpful, check in and out was effortless. A very well maintained older place that is only old in architecture, not in a bad way though, it adds charm and variety to the otherwise ordinary.

"Fantastic time!"
GeorgeSeabron, 16 Août 2017

Close to everywhere I wanted to go; downtown, wharf, restaurants. Staff was impeccable, thoroughly professional. I came in the late afternoon and although there were plenty of guests at the front desk within a minute and a half I was checked in and heading towards my room. Room was clean as were the amenities. The gym, spa and breakfast bar made my business trip a lot more enjoyable. Special kudos to the front office staff!

"State deployment in Santa Cruz County"
jameslishman329, 16 Août 2017

Out of all the hotels I've stayed at, this one has the most courteous, friendly, and professionally employees. The front desk personnel are always willing to help with a smile (they kind of make you feel right at home). I am staying down here for six months+ and this will always be my first choice. The lobby is always clean and the room service is outstanding. Thank You BW for making my time away from home as enjoyable as possible.

"Would highly recommend staying here!"
KOKnight, 15 Août 2017

We had a great experience staying here. The only difficult thing is parking in such tight spaces. We enjoyed our clean and spacious room. We had a king bed and a fold out bed in the couch. The bathroom was very roomy. Our room was not too noisy other than traffic. The continental breakfast was nice. The staff was helpful and friendly.

"Great Stay while at conference"
sydneyj856, 14 Août 2017

Nice room, within walking distance to city center and community events/shopping/dining, great breakfast, kind staff, horrible internet connection and very tight parking spots but other than that the stay was enjoyable. Staff was attentive and prompt and even provided me with a stamp when I needed to mail a letter.

"Quick stay"
meganmV1795EG, 13 Août 2017

Wondeful front desk team! Parking was frustrating. A lot of double parked cars. I had to park a block away and walk to the hotel at 1 am. The cleanliness of the bathroom in the room was very disappointing.

"Best Stay"
Philip S, 07 Août 2017

My family and I were in Santa Cruz for three days and stayed at the Best Western Plus. Little did I know I would have enjoyed so much. And with the assistance of a young man named Najii, I'm looking forward to another stay very soon.

"Good trip"
N7061IWsusand, 05 Août 2017

Hotel was quiet, we were able to sleep. Very clean, and staff was very friendly. Good breakfast. The only issues we had was a broken shower, and it is very hard to find parking. If you don't get there early enough, people can literally take up two spots and there's nothing the security guard will do.

"Another great stay"
allnamestaken44, 04 Août 2017

Pricy but a great place. It's location and amenities can't be beat in Santa Cruz. The pool remodel was done very well. A lot more space and expanded food and drink options. Tiffany and Brittany were super helpful and nice

"Don't Stay"
kathleen5124, 03 Août 2017

I travel all over the world when an African hotel would be preferred you know it is bad here. The room smelled bad. It took 3 Hours to cool room to sleep. The Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The rooms on web-site need to be updated. Not the room there. Had to park 3 blocks away, Very Limited Parking. No help regrading parking from staff, just said 'anywhere you can sometimes we send people to next door hotel to park there'. They had a tow away sign.

"Santa Cruz Boardwalk"
rebeccaeW5206FS, 31 Juillet 2017

This was a great place to stay. Just under a mile walking distance to the Boardwalk and the beach. With the free parking at the hotel we didn't have to worry about parking at the Boardwalk which was a nightmare.

"Nice hotel"
Dorette A, 27 Juillet 2017

Enjoyed a hot breakfast every morning! Nice room, very spacious, liked the extra bed, great location. A bit pricey but worth it. Missed swimming in a pool, but the Jacuzzi was nice. My review needs 200

"Great Breakfast but musty room"
leahp236, 26 Juillet 2017

This breakfast had plenty of both cold and hot items. You will get full and feel very satisfied. Lots of seating too. The best part of our stay! Beds were comfortable enough though we had a skylight in our room and it was too bright for my daughter to sleep well. Very strong musty smell in our room compared to the other rooms my family stayed in.

"Family of Five."
Anthony G, 25 Juillet 2017

Great hotel. Close to the Boardwalk. Rooms are large and clean. Pull out bed helped immensely. Parking can be difficult when returning late in the evening. Breakfast area gets busy and is messy in the morning.

"OKAY room expensive"
Caroline G, 21 Juillet 2017

I visit Santa Cruz often and have stayed in numerous hotels, need to write a few more reviews... I booked this through southwest air and information was poor, to bad, at best online. Room listed as HAND TUB - now you may know what this means but I could not figure with ten clicks until I arrived and asked. It stands for handicapped tub- meaning a regular bathtub with several bars. Not mush else in the room is "adapted," I don't need access but my Mom does - but she was not on this trip. Vanity is a little ugly to allow room underneath (shows the plumbing.) Hotel has a pool in the center of the complex. If children are in the pool the noise echoes. Room a B for cleanliness- the white duvet needed washing. House telephone broken.Toilet ran all night but I was too tired to walk downstairs and complain. They have a full breakfast. I looked at all the foods- a pancake maker, cereal, boxed oatmeal, yogurts, whole apples, whole oranges, couple kinds of juice, and coffee. Special effort with cooked egg whites, turkey sausage and regular bacon. A full breakfast that children or adults can find something quick before you head off to the beach or event. Location is not walking distance to beach or fun zone but is away from the lower what shall I say.. old motels. Staff at desk friendly. Elevator slow. Someone complained about parking but they must not have asked or perhaps put up a sign staff - there is parking down below the building with plenty spaces. Use your room key for access into the center of the building. Construction on Ocean makes the turn into the driveway fast, but room to stop and check in. Travelling alone I felt safe which is a 5 star to make up for the little things

"The Hotel was fine heavy street noise but nice otherwise"
N8534SZandrewt, 21 Juillet 2017

The Hotel was fine, heavy street noise but nice otherwise. Staff 'was helpful and the breakfast was good. The parking was tight but at least they didn't charge for it. The rest of the review is to fill space to make the 200 character minimum.

"Clean room. Bad WiFi."
ibm600, 19 Juillet 2017

We checked in and got our room. Pulled out sofa bed and crumbs all over and looked like someone had slept in it! Called front desk. Offered us another room - said no since we already had unpacked. Anecia offered to vacumn and put clean sheets on sofa bed. She was very nice. Give her a raise! Parking was very tight under the hotel. A lot of compact spots. we drove a van. no charge for parking. We walked to the Beach Boardwalk. Took us 15-20 minutes each way. Fun! Breakfast was good. Very tight. Lots of people. make own waffles (long line), scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins, toast, juices, cereals. small fitness room was fine. 4 machines. looks like they updated rooms lately. very clean. wifi did not work or was very slow. wifi worked in middle of night when no one was on it! stayed here 3 nights. drove to big basin redwoods 1 day and drove up hwy 1 ocean beaches one day. both very enjoyable!

"Nice room, Staff was nice"
Roger W, 19 Juillet 2017

We stayed 4 nights. Room was clean. Break fast was average for hotel breakfast. Not bad, Not great. Staff gave us some restaurants. If you go to Santa Cruz, this is a good hotel if you are going different places. The best thing to do is zip line at Mount Hermon. I had a room and couch you could sleep on.

"Skip this place"
Jason S, 19 Juillet 2017

Extremely run down motel. The garage does not have enough parking spaces so we had to park across a very busy street. Majority of spaces are for compact cars. Motel clerk said she couldn't do anything about it.

"Nice, but avoid room 110"
jeff573, 19 Juillet 2017

Generally what you would expect from a Best Western. Clean, nice full breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, in addition to the standard continental breakfast fare). But stay away from room 110. It is across the hall from the kitchen, which begins to get noisy around 5:30 in the morning, I could not sleep through the racket. The sink in the kitchen emitted a high-pitch screeching sound that was intolerable. When I brought it to the attention of the staff, they said nothing could be done.

"Good place, Nice people"
Patriperezg, 12 Juillet 2017

Nice, big and clean rooms. Parking available (which seems something I appreciate nowdays since a lot of hotels don't have complimentary parking). Good and convenient breakfast. People are very friendly. Eva at the front desk was super nice and helpful. Close to the board beach walk.

"Horrible service, did not stay here, very uncomfortable."
kimandronald, 11 Juillet 2017

Went to check in with reservation thru Expedia with our service dog, told clerk we had a service dog, she ask what service did the dog provide? I told her we have her documents of service and would be happy to show her. She said she could not ask for that, but showed me a paper saying she could ask the service, I again said I did not feel comfortable with discussing that with her. She said if I did not I could not stay at that hotel. I was shocked! We travel at least every 3 months for that last 2 years and have never experienced anything like this. I was very uncomfortable, after telling her minimum information I went to the car and called Expedia and ask them to find us another hotel that I could not stay at this hotel. Expedia was great, they know how much we travel. They found us a suite at Casablanca Inn by the Sea, great move, awesome clerk, friendly! I told her we have a service dog and she said great, no problem. Older hotel with updates. Felt very comfortable here, we may stay an extra day here. The dog loves it too!

"Choose carefully"
Richard R, 10 Juillet 2017

I will preface to say that we wanted a suite. Your experience in a single room may be different. We had 4 people staying with us. 2 in the BR, 2 in the pullout bed. There is a door separating the 2 areas for privacy. There is 1 A/C unit, in the pullout bed area. So when the door was closed, there was no A/C in the bedroom. The window doesn't open much. When we opened the window to try and get some breeze, it was a bright as day because of outside lights. And to top it all off the bed is very hard. Some might like that; we do not.

"Decent Stay"
Heidi H, 09 Juillet 2017

Desk clerks were awesome. Rooms big and clean. Location wasn't bad- about a mile to the beach. Took a star off for the horrible parking garage. There were marked "compact" spaces but all the spaces looked compact. Hard to park a larger car.

"Shared room anyone?"
Jen C, 07 Juillet 2017

Not a cozy stay as someone was using our bathroom when we where out. Soap in the shower and whiskers in the sink. Carpets stained. The whole place needed a carpet shampoo and vacuum. Eek! The staff was ok and friendly but not helpful when we alerted him if the bathroom situation. Hotel is not in a great area and is about a 25 min walk to the the boardwalk through a total slum!

"Always great!"
David P, 06 Juillet 2017

This is a clean, well-maintained example of the Best Western Plus brand, with a friendly staff and a really perfect location for everything we like to do in Santa Cruz. A moderate, invigorating walk from the Beach and Boardwalk, a short walk from movies, restaurants, galleries and shops. We love it!

"Santa Cruz Trip"
Rhonda C, 01 Juillet 2017

Very good experience overall. The street the hotel is on is a little shady and the exterior was pretty tattered, but we were pleasantly surprised that the inside was very nice and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. Great breakfast service!

"Great value"
K6412JVjoshuas, 01 Juillet 2017

Daddy, Wife and Toddler had plenty of room and lots of space. Nice looking interior and room. TV was a little static issue. But, beyond that, everything was good. Decent breakfast options in the morning.

"stay in Santa Cruz"
silverrose7, 30 Juin 2017

loved this hotel. it was within walking distance of the santa cruz boardwalk and beach. room was upgraded so it had a sitting area as well as the sleeping area. the bathroom had a walkin shower with a skylight which was great. the bed was heavenly. best sleep we had had for awhile. breakfast was also great with waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, muffins etc. we only stayed one night and would have loved to have stayed longer.

"Paul Thorn at the Rio Theater "
Rich W, 27 Juin 2017

As always a pleasant stay at this hotel. Check in fast. They had our room ready early as requested. Parking is tight for larger vehicles but can be done. I will always stay here when visiting Santa Cruz.

"Not a bad place to stay."
Brits at Home, 27 Juin 2017

Hotel is older facility. Has had update within past few years. Breakfast was on par with several other hotels we've stayed at in past year, pretty good choices, hot and cold.Tables needed cleaning more frequently. Room was good size, 3rd floor, comfortable and not much traffic noise during the night. We were there on a Sunday night and Parking was no problem. We'd happily stay again when in SC.

"Parking Beware"
ronniea340, 26 Juin 2017

Be careful if you get in after 6pm you may need to park somewhere else and hike it back to your room. You can Uber it back unless you are lucky enough to find a parking close or a block away. You would think you pay for a room you get a parking.

"ok"
Tcard2013, 25 Juin 2017

This Best Western is just ok. The good part is no parking fee. The bad the parking is very small. We have a large car and it was difficult to park. They have no pool only a spa. Also breakfasts in the morning were very hectic. They did not seem to have enough people to run it with the large crowds in the morning. It is a good central location in town and Ubers were great to take. The price was responsible for a weekday stay.

"Amazing customer service"
Nkiruka U, 22 Juin 2017

This hotel had excellent service. Especially from the man at the front desk, Najii Wilcox, who was very kind from when we checked in to when we last saw him. He came out and personally helped us find parking by telling us to take his spot. Also, the woman at the front desk Sara was very kind and also very helpful as well. They made my stay at this hotel that much better. Along with the nice facilities and spacious rooms. We will definitely be coming back here soon!

jennie10733, 20 Juin 2017

I recently stayed in this hotel with my family. Me my husband cousin and my two over 16-year-old daughters . When we entered the room we were in shook. Before we entered the room we were looking for a parking lot in the hotel complex. The parking lots were so small the some cars took up two lots and after a 12-hour drive we had to park somewhere on the street where the parking limit was two hours. When we entered the room it smelled very bad, the room didn't have a window, it was very dirty, the furniture old, there wasn't a fridge. When we complained they told us we could have a new room, with a window and a small balcony, the next day. So we had to stay in the stinking room for a night, where you weren't able to sleep or rest, even with a shirt pulled over your nose, trying to escape the bad smell. We had to ask for extra towels every morning. And on the last day two of us had to clean themselves with dirty towels, because we didn't get clean towels after asking twice for them. We had to check out at 11 that day and when we came back from the breakfast we found the towels in our room. But it was already to late since it was 10:30. Which was not enough time. The breakfast was very small with not a lot of choice and very bad taste. The orange juice was literally orange colored water. The workers reacted very friendly and calm when they received our complains. They gave us a 200$ sale on the room for one night, which was not enough for such a bad hotel. For something like that, you shouldn't pay money for that. If we would have known that earlier, we wouldn't sleep in that hotels for free. Very bad. Not recommend.

"Hot Small Hotel"
B5164AElorenam, 20 Juin 2017

It was hot the parking stalls are very small, be careful not to ding your neighbors' car or get dinged....the hallway smells the rooms are small and the A/C barely works and when they clean your room they turn the A/C off.

"BAD VISIT"
Luiza R, 17 Juin 2017

I came to Santa Cruz .CA. from Oakland .CA and I expected a great BW welcome, well that was not the case. The front desk clerk(Eve) was so slow in checking us in. After we waited 20minutes for her to check in previous guest it was our turn and yes people she did take 20 min to check us in. The room decir is outdated and for furniture old. Besides new furniture this hotel also needs BETTER housekeepers. The wall area around the light switch in the bathroom is staned. with black marks. Their is dust on all the lamp and lamp shades, their is also old chips on the floor. Previous guest gum on the floor. Well enough of the housekeepers, let's move to the two t.v in my room that did not work. All I'm all this hotel needs a huge up grade.

Rooms are old and smelly....beds uncomfortable.breakfast a joke unless you like cereal....not cost effective and overpriced moved to Hotel Solaris much better experienceFront desk had problems with reservation and my individual requests could not be found.small parking area near traffic and freeway

"Need more parking"
F8959EOricardoc, 13 Juin 2017

If going to this hotel, keep in mind parking is a problem. Due to the small parking structure and lack of enforcement, people double park or take more than one space and leave other guest without parking.

"Free Breakfast was a Joke"
calmtnman, 12 Juin 2017

Fit's of all, let me say that this is not a bad place to stay. Room & common areas were clean and attractive. But for nearly $200/night (w/tax), I expected more. My biggest gripe is the included breakfast bar. On both mornings, if you did not drink coffee you were out of luck finding a beverage -- no water, no milk (which made it hard to use the dry cereal), and no juice (for 48 hrs there was a not in service sign on the juice machine, with no indications of any attempts to repair or replace it.) My second morning, when I got to breakfast, all of the above were missing, plus, the warmer for the meat, potatoes, & eggs were also completely empty. In addition, if you are not driving a compact car, the garage parking is problematic -- tight spaces with walls and posts everywhere. The entrance & exit for parking is the same drive which has difficulty accommodating two vehicles at a time. And if you are thinking of parking there and walking to the beach or boardwalk, be ready for a 20-minute walk each way.

"mediocre hotel"
ChristineLebeauB, 12 Juin 2017

There was a very loud dripping noise that woke my husband and I both up at 5am. Our son was sleeping so we could not go down to complain and do anything about the problem at the time. Finally in desperation, we turned on the air conditioning to drown out the noise. After a while the dripping sound stopped, so it's possibly an issue with the HVAC system? We came down for a work meeting in the morning with new clients and the inability to sleep properly negatively affected our work. In addition, I chose the hotel in part because of the hot tub, and it closed at an unreasonably early hour, 9pm, so we were not able to take advantage of that. TV was broken in main room, carpet in room and hall was dirty and stained. Hotel is on a busy street and on a Saturday night there were loud motorcycles and police sirens. They shoudl put in better windows and insulation. Breakfast was OK, typical hotel fare. Good tea choices, poor coffee.

"A great place to stay when enjoying a Catalyst Concert"
Debra W, 11 Juin 2017

We chose this hotel because it was just a few blocks away from the Catalyst Night Club. Although we live just 45 minutes away, we opted to spend the night in Santa Cruz so we wouldn't have to drive home after enjoying a late night concert there. Before the concert, we walked from the hotel to Pacific Street to have an early dinner. We had the best mahi-mahi at an Irish pub. While walking back, we enjoyed an a capella girls group sing on the street and we had delicious chocolate treats as we strolled leisurely back to our hotel room. The next morning we made waffles in the lobby! Overall, it was a fun experience. Thank you BW!

"Very Good Value"
Madrigal95640, 08 Juin 2017

My husband and I stayed here two nights during our first trip with our 6 year old granddaughter. The price was quite reasonable and the room comfortable. "All suites" is however a bit misleading. We thought there would be a separate room or at least alcove for our granddaughter; in reality there was a partition about 3 feet high and 4 feet long between her couch that made into a single bed and the head of our king. It worked out okay. The breakfast was great-- I really appreciated the scrambled eggs and meat (bacon one day and sausage the next) and my granddaughter loved making waffles with sprinkles. She also loved the hot tub, which was actually hot and not just warm. It was a bit leafy though. We would definitely stay again.

"Location "
travelswithpet1, 03 Juin 2017

The location was not quite what we thought...it's on a pretty busy corner with no land around it (so traffic is noisy) and has very tight and minimal parking below the building. It all seemed a little sketchy...quite a bit of street life happening at all hours and almost seemed like they would walk by the parking structure and inspect it. I had no idea that Santa Cruz had so much homelessness on the streets! We met our friends here and all have very young children. We had thought the beach would be an easy walk, but were not comfortable waking with the toddlers on the street sadly. The hotel itself took a LOOOOONG time to check us in and it was getting late after a long drive with a 2 yr old, so that was rough. We liked the lobby area and my girlfriend and I were able to sit by the fire one evening and chat. We would not stay here again. Really only good for a business person.

"Very clean and pleasant stay"
shoghero, 30 Mai 2017

The hotel location is perfect as it is only few miles from the beach and boardwalk. The suite was very clean and big enough to have 5 guests. I was surprised with the breakfast as is had quite a lot of options from waffles, to yogurt, juices, & teas.

"Decent Stay Terrible Staff"
Damien J, 30 Mai 2017

The amenities, continental breakfast and rooms were decent. We decided to stay an extra night and probably should have just gone to another hotel. The lady at the front desk was rude and unwilling to work with us. We asked if we could have the same room & rate. While she told me the room was available but the rate was going up $50 she told my wife 5 minutes later the room wasn't available and we'd have to switch to another room but would have to move all of our stuff out and put it in our car until 3 or 4 when the room would be ready. After finally deciding to stay we ended up in our same room and it was ready within 30 min. Needless to say we had to bring all of our stuff back from the car back to the room which was on the 3rd floor. The front desk gal was nonprofessional and rude. No customer service skills what so ever.

"Happy"
MS N, 26 Mai 2017

I arrived late evening. It is confusing to find your way from the parking lot to the main entrance however security was very helpful. The gentleman that checked me in was polite and informative. The room is spit into two areas, a sitting room and a bedroom. Both were nicely furnished. The environmental controls took me a minute to figure out. Tips: The remote for the environmental controls has a panel on the front, it is for further control settings and not a battery compartment, the remote works on line of site so you have to point it directly at the unit for it to take the commands. The environmental control unit is quiet. There is no pool. The rooms appear to be well insulated, I hardly heard my neighbors. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. No bath only a large shower without a shower seat.

"Birthday Vacation"
mzchivius73, 23 Mai 2017

This hotel was great all around, from the staff to the rooms, Excellent. Our king suite also had a dbl-sided fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. Great pricr for a very nice room. Friendly staff and security guard was always around. Also close to the Boardwalk.

"Best Santa Cruz hotel"
381kumarv, 22 Mai 2017

Excellent service even we reached at 9pm , the staff were well prepared. The rooms were excellent condition and so was the internet service. The food was great.i would recommend this hotel to my friends and family members.

"Road noise ruined this experience"
beckymD9125SD, 20 Mai 2017

This motel is clean with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The staff was friendly. The only issue is that it's very hard to sleep here! I managed about 3 hours of sleep with the traffic noise. I suppose if you're hard of hearing or a very heavy sleeper this motel would be fine.

"Excellent location"
BizWhizTraveler, 19 Mai 2017

This is a great hotel. Please book direct if you want rewards points, they may be able to price match. The room was nice and clean, no traffic noise. The staff was super friendly. I travel alone a lot and found it safe to roam around to the shops across the way. Few good eateries nearby. They didn't charge for parking either.

"Misdirection and Low Quality: Not a Good Place"
StevePacificNW, 03 Mai 2017

The "All Suites Inn" provided us with a room with no suite. A wall about three feet tall insinuated itself from one regular wall into a quarter of the room. To me, that doesn't make a room a suite. This is misrepresentation. I had reserved a room, but they had not held that particular room for me. Wasn't that nice? I got a first-floor room with lots of lobby noise. There are lots of these. Kind of like living in a small arena. A lobby bathroom was out of service and had a note on it to that effect. Okay. But seven feet from that was a lobby bathroom in service. No mention of this on the note. Are you impressed? The underground parking lot has but one entrance. There is another driveway, but they have blocked that off. So if you don't park right by the one in-use entrance, you may be maneuvering a large vehicle (I have a SUV) like mine for an extra few minutes to get turned around in the lot made for compact cars.

"High quality room, but a little high priced"
DonaldYokum, 28 Avril 2017

Travelling with the GF and her two nine year old grandchildren, we needed a room of adequate size for our night in Santa Cruz. I'd stayed at a few BW Plus motels, and had been impressed with their facilities, so I chose this one. Was a little put off by the price, considerably higher than the other motels in the area, but needed the space. Check in was easy and cheerful, and we got a ground floor room, as requested. The room was spacious and well appointed, plus being immaculately clean. Beds were quite comfortable, particularly liked the pillows. A pool and a Jacuzzi were available on the same floor. Didn't try the breakfast, though it looked to be very well received by many of the guests. Would return!

"Disresepcful guests"
khawkinson, 24 Avril 2017

While the hotel itself was nice, the lack of respect by other guests - loud yelling in the halls in the wee hours of the morning. We actually had a family "lose" their child who attempted for quite a few minute to enter our room by banging on the door at midnight. Once the parents realized their child had left their room, and was trying to get into our (banging on our door and creaming for "mommy") they proceed to have a screaming match in the hall proceeded by door slamming and more yelling. The staff did nothing.

"Great place!"
Lulucita21, 20 Avril 2017

Looking for one night stay in Santa Cruz with my family last minute was hard, but thankfully I found this hotel with a beautiful room with a king and a queen bedrooms, and the extra bedroom in the living room, enough space for 5, 3 adults and 2 kids.

"Loved my hotel room"
Oceanlife253, 16 Avril 2017

We stayed here 2 nights during spring break, drove down from Washington. The outside of the hotel is unique, the same goes for the layout of the inside. The room was amazing, and admired the floor plan. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast buffet had a lot to offer. Unfortunately most things were already gone when we went down & was pretty crowded. Had 1 issue, had the maid trying to prepare our room for new guests after our 1st night even though we were booked for 2 nights. Had to sort it out at front desk then got a 2nd $50 hold on our account. Other than that issue & limited parking it was a 1 of the best hotels that I've stayed at. If we make it back to Santa Cruz, we will be booking here again.

"Wonderful Experience at Santa Cruz Best Western"
jeannegale8, 16 Avril 2017

My sister and I regularly stay a night or two at a Santa Cruz hotel. We have tried several and Santa Cruz Best Western is the absolute best! Staff is helpful and very positive. The central area is a friendly atrium gathering place. We tried the inner suites which are very nice with every amenity needed and comfortable beds. On our last visit we tried an outer room with windows to the outside. This was our favorite. Spacious with two bedroom areas, a work or dining area and a visiting area with a pass through gas fireplace. We look forward to our next visit!

"Be aware of parking problems"
Joan W, 14 Avril 2017

To quote, " Our parking is on a first come, first serve basis. You should've gotten here earlier. Park across the highway in the street and move your car in the morning so it doesn't get towed". What?!

"Windows facing walls & Suites that Are not."
Alanmin, 09 Avril 2017

My friend got a "suite" but it was just a hotel room with a couch next to the bed. I got a real suite, but the living room had no exterior window, but a window that faced into an interior hall. Breakfast had few options, and when yogurt ran out it was a while before an employee showed up so I could ask for more. I've stayed at some very good Best Westerns, and this was the first one that simply did not make the grade.

"Rude and a nightmare of an experience"
LeeAnn W, 07 Avril 2017

My husband and I took out 10 year old daughter and her girlfriend to Polar Express and we stayed at the Best Western that night. As you can imagine our daughter and her girlfriend were super excited. When we get there my husband and I have the girls go sit down while we check in. They did. They decided to come stand with us as we checked in and they were talking and giggling but they WERE NOT yelling or running around. The lady behind the counter (who was already being short with us and not smiling) told the girls that they needed to learn to whisper and keep it down or she would kick us out of the hotel. 1. They weren't being extra loud or obnoxious. 2. It's suppose to be a family friendly hotel. 3. It was not her place. Whatever we just let it go. Went up to our room. We are in our 2 bedroom suit and it smells horrible. The furniture looked disgusting. You would think in a suit things would be nice. Anyways, we traced the smell to our beds. So, I called downstairs and explained. The front desk clerk said it would be a couple hours but she will have housekeeping change the bed sheets. We were play with that, thinking everything would be better once we got back from the train ride and get ready for bed, we realized the sheets are visibly soiled (they were suppose to be changed) and the remotes didn't work. We call down stairs again and had to argue with the lady st the front desk to get housekeeping to change our sheets again. Before she agreed she was like you could go stay the night elsewhere and I was like fine, but we want are $250 back and she said that wasn't possible because we didn't cancel. Plus, we couldn't find another available room. We tried. Of course after we get home I call the customer service line to complain because I want our money back. The customer service agent said that wasn't possible, but he could give us points for a free room at equal or less than the value of the room we stayed in and the points don't expire. He said no and I asked if I could use them anywhere and he said yes. So, I was happy with that outcome. Well, I went to go use our points for a free room in Oakland for a trip in May. It's not working on-line. I call and I am informed that I don't have enough points for a room in Oakland ( the room is only $150, so it's cheaper than the room in Santa Cruz.). I asked how that was possible and explained what I was told. They informed me he gave me enough points for a tier 1 hotel but I needed 21,000 (he gave me 8000) more points for a room in Oakland. So, I explained that, that wasn't what I was told and asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told that wasn't possible and they were perfectly capable of helping me. They weren't. So then I was hung up on. I called back again and once again they refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor and told me since I agreed to the solution in November there was nothing they could do. I explained I was only okay with it because I was given wrong information. So, I asked to speak to a supervisor and once again was denied. So, I called back and once again they refused to let me talk to a supervisor. They pretend to solve your problem, but they really don't. Their customer service is horrible. Hopefully this will get the attention of their corporate office (which I have called twice and left messages).

"Great Value in Santa Cruz"
W7115KYwilliamn, 04 Avril 2017

This hotel offers a great value for staying in Santa Cruz. It's a short walk from downtown and just a few minutes by car from the boardwalk. The rooms are comfortable and clean and very reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is highly satisfactory, with the waffle station being a special and delicious touch.

"Dirty, Dirty, Dirty"
Scott B, 25 Mars 2017

Used my Best Western points for two rooms for a quick family get-away with our extended family. So embarrassed that I booked this hotel for them. Both families had to change rooms at check in because of odors and second rooms were not any better. Bathrooms were dirty and looked like they had been skipped. One of the rooms had a skylight over the bed with a shade that looked moldy and was falling down. Room fridges smelled like old rotting food. Can't believe this was a Best Western Plus! What a waste of my rewards points, should've just used them for gas cards and spent money for a nice hotel. Don't stay here!

"It worked for our visit-nothing special"
nrretreat, 09 Mars 2017

First off, this hotel was difficult to check into. The entrance is through the underground /street level garage. The hotel sits above the parking but it's not clear when you are driving on Ocean St that the garage is where you need to enter and then walk up or take the elevator to the first floor reception area. We had a King bed that was comfortable. The bathroom had an "open" with shower stall w/ wall barrier. You had to walk in to turn on the shower. Be prepared to get cold water on you at first. There were a only two large bath towels along with smaller ones and was clothes. The room included a single packet style coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Good wifi. Breakfast was decent-cold cereal, eggs, bread, yogurt, waffles, oranges, apples, bananas, toast, etc.

"Best in Santa Cruz"
christinao767, 23 Novembre 2016

The most affordable room available in Santa Cruz and not a thing to complain about. The property and rooms are very clean, the staff is helpful and accommodating. Updated rooms, very comfortable bed, quiet. The complementary breakfast is a great way to start the day. Will definitely stay here again, whether for business or pleasure.

"just soso"
tiejunl2016, 23 Novembre 2016

smell no good, too far away from the park to registration. should be cheaper on that condition. clean the air and environment. it's near the route 1, and it's convenient to go up to free way. The lobby and rooms are in a close environment , it's not that open air and feel not that open .

"Santa Cruz"
donnahT2851UO, 19 Novembre 2016

What a super close location to the boardwalk and downtown. We were able to walk to dinner and shopping. Rooms are spacious and clean. Earthbelly and Buttery is a must go to! The Boardwalk is a short drive away.

"Clean"
CALVIN R, 19 Novembre 2016

very clean and comfortable. good breakfast. close to downtown and boardwalk. good parking. nice layout of hotel. friendly and accommodating staff. never had any problems at any best western hotels we have used.

"Not so bad"
521martym, 17 Novembre 2016

The room was too big and felt lonely if only one stays. But for the price, this is the best in the city. I needed better pillow for myself. Select many different pillows with different thickness and hardness. The quality of breakfast was acceptable. .

"Nice Hidden Gem"
rgforrest, 14 Novembre 2016

First off we were given a room over the garbage pickup way to noisy the next morning we spoke to the desk clerk & a new rm. was given to us on the top floor (3 stories) near the back nice space & quite , they serve a decent breakfast & we were close enough to walk downtown .The population is around 65000 so not bad to get around the pier has some decent places to eat & you can park right on the pier , good happy hrs. as well as good food for a reasonable price .Weather is a mean temperature of 65/75 good find for us anyway .

"Receptionist was rude. Put me off."
David P, 10 Novembre 2016

Room was okay. Location isn't very nice but not too big of a deal for me. The reason I gave it a bad review is because I was treated pretty rudely by the receptionist which claimed not to have my reservation. It really put me off and made me feel uncomfortable during my stay. If this isn't a big deal to you, you can ignore this revert ew for the most part. Otherwise, find another place. Hope this helps.

"Good Experience"
Bianca G, 08 Novembre 2016

Front desk was helpful. Received what I needed in a timely manner. I really enjoyed the sauna. The breakfast could have been better. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean. There was a refrigerator in the room which was helpful.

"Clean and comfortable"
Chris T, 29 Octobre 2016

We arrived in Santa Cruz on a Thursday evening and after driving around this coastal town for a bit, came across this hotel that had a vacancy. The place is located on an intersection, has parking below and looks as though it is being renovated. My fiancé and I had a king room on the second floor that had a view over the adjoining buildings. There is a service station on one corner, a couple of asian restaurants on the other side of the road and a distant view of the roller coaster. Front counter service was good, the room was clean, tidy and a good size. The buffet breakfast was available from 0700 to 1000am and was common of most American hotels we have stayed in: toast, bagels, cereals, yoghurt, coffee, tea, Would definitely stay here again.

"Not the best location"
valueman84, 28 Octobre 2016

This hotel is not in the best of locations - the rooms were fine - had a separate living room area and the dual vanity was appreciated - the bed was comfortable - breakfast menu and area was OK - staff was very cordial and efficient - we had an outside room and the traffic noise was disconcerting - sounded like trash pickups all during the nite - if you stay here do request an inside room to counter most of the outside noise - good underground parking area - like many of the BW hotels minimal lighting in the rooms here and their tissues were more like fine sandpaper - fair room rate for the area -

"Problem solved"
marywB8089BQ, 27 Octobre 2016

Earlier I reported a complaint about lack of follow up with a problem, no hot water. Since then the hotel contacted and I am more than satisfied. They apologized for not getting back to me. They were generous and gracious.

"A bit outdated"
Tkucz, 26 Octobre 2016

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in October, this was our first visit to Santa Cruz so we weren't sure where to stay. Although we walked to the beach/boardwalk area it is a very good walk and not a walk everyone would be willing to do (probably took us 20-25 mins). If you want to be closer to the action this isn't the best location. We found the front desk staff and check in and check out to go smoothly. The rooms are large and have been updated, but the rest of the hotel is old looking. The carpets in the hallways are old and dirty. The lobby and breakfast area are also outdated. The breakfast is the standard, nothing special. We just felt for the amount we paid we did not get our monies worth.

"A great place to rest and relax. It is also near most attractions and Downtown Santa Cruz."
Mike G, 24 Octobre 2016

The room was extraordinarily clean without the lingering smell of cleansers. It was large and spacious "King Suite" with a pull out bed that would have been perfect for young children (they would even have their own tv). The complimentary breakfast was uneven in presentation. The first day was a marvelous mixture of bacon and eggs (waffles, Danish, muffins and bagels were also available). The second day was rather a disappointing serving of sausage (eggs depleted) as were the Danish and many other items. But I never rate the breakfast as part of the actual "stay."

"Santa Cruz Surf Trip!"
Peter T, 17 Octobre 2016

The Best Western Santa Cruz was conveniently located near to the Downtown and Convention Center on Front Street and to the Pier and surf breaks. Had a great new organic restaurant across the street. The location had easy access from Hwy One straight off the Hwy down to it's location on Ocean with easy in and out parking at street level.

"Big room for a nice price"
Remco K, 12 Octobre 2016

A nice hotel with big rooms. It has a modern feeling to it. A big plus is the nice extensive breakfast. The location is to far to walk to the beach. The parking garage in the basement is not to big and can only be reached with an elevator.

"Needs room remodel."
Edward L, 10 Octobre 2016

This place has décor from the 70's. Bed was hard as a rock. Very low water pressure for shower. Fireplace did not work and they knew that before I booked the room. Still charged me for it. Lights from outside where very bright and this room had no dark curtains to block the light. Was like trying to sleep in the daytime.

"Bad Beds"
Ronald B, 10 Octobre 2016

The beds are very hard. Our room was not ready when they daid it would be & other people checked in while we were waiting & got the same room we were waiting on. We had done all of this on Booking.com over a month before we went over there.

"Below Average BW for more $$"
Ryland D, 07 Octobre 2016

This Best Western was the most expensive hotel on our 6 day trip to Northern CA and was our least favorite. The rooms are sizable but decor seems outdated and cheap. My wife pointed out it looks like this hotel was at one point an outdoor hotel that got enclosed. Parking was very tight, a lot of frustrated drivers couldn't fit in the spaces, it was

"Bad experience"
Adnan K, 04 Octobre 2016

My overall experience was bad, Dirty kitchen and shower. Very noisy and amenities were of poor quality. Breakfast was pastries bought from Costco.Coffee was warm and old.......After looking at the hotel website, my expectations were high. Unfortunately, My wife and I were very disappointed. We thought we will have a nice anniversary celebration. But that was not the case. The hotel staff new it was our anniversary, but newr acknowledge it.

"In Santa Cruz for a Wedding"
MarciaDi, 27 Septembre 2016

Needing a new place to stay other than our usual motel (We come up every Thanksgiving) we thought we'd try the Best Western All Suites Inn. We'd be staying a full week so needed a bit more room than usual. It was a very busy weekend so there were not many choices and the BW had several different room configurations. I asked for a quiet room as reviews stated some rooms were noisy. We landed in the King Suite with Fireplace. It gave us a sitting room, nice sized bathroom and a king bedroom. Unfortunately, the weather was exceptionally hot so we didn't get to enjoy the fireplace amenity. It was clean, though some of the furniture was a bit worn. It was cleaned well every day and we didn't feel like we had to constantly Purell everything we touched. There was a TV in both the bedroom and sitting room so my husband and I could watch different things at the same time--just like home. The bath was a jetted tub and shower combo, and there was both a small refrigerator and microwave. The air-conditioning worked well and quickly as did the elevator. Parking was offered below the hotel, though we had to park on the street one night due to excessive weekend business. Ice and vending machines could be found on every floor. The breakfast was a thoughtful and complete offering from oatmeal to fresh waffles, fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon. The coffee did not always live up to Santa Cruz standards, but I suppose that's too much to ask. It was served in a bright breakfast room with green plants lining the open second floor. Several free newspapers were available for morning perusal. We look forward to Thanksgiving when we will be back and have 4 rooms reserved for various family members. We'll update then.

"Comfy, helpful and great for wheelchair guests too"
JacquimNZ, 23 Septembre 2016

We stayed in the 'disabled accessible' room. The bathroom was large, and perfectly set up for my quadraplegic companion. There was plenty of space between the beds. There was an extra sink outside the bathroom if needed. There was even a security peephole at wheelchair height as well as standing height - a first for us. The hotel even had a chair to lower a disabled guest into the hot pool. The battery had died, and one was on order, the staff checked and apologised. We had to take two parks side by side in the car park, when we asked they told us there was a disabled spot on the street, accessible by a door near our room, but that door opened on a hill, which made it too hard for my friend to push his chair, and we'd have liked to see a disabled park under the hotel on the flat, with the other cars. The free breakfast supplied was nicely varied, and hot coffee was available all night. The rooms were comfy, and the hotel was easy to find. We would recommend it, and we would visit again

"Great View Close to the Beach!!"

Booked for the kids to stay while visiting Santa Cruz, good location, very reasonable, and clean. The staff was very kind and friendly... the transaction was easy! The kids had a great stay while visiting the area and UC Santa Cruz... close to all the sites and the BEACH! Mahalo!!

"Not bad!"
Joe080, 07 Septembre 2016

We spent one night in this hotel on our way from Big Sur to SF. It was our fallback as we didn't find any place in Carmel! The hotel is a bit over priced for its quality. Rooms are spacious but furniture is very old. It is not that close to the beach and the busy boardwalk nor to downtown.

"Pleasant Stay at BW Plus in Santa Cruz"
Lorena R, 06 Septembre 2016

Stayed at this hotel for business. They offer the State Rate and the accommodations were very nice. The hotel is clean, service is great, and there was plenty of parking. If needed, I would stay there again. :)

"Great stay"
B E, 30 Août 2016

I had a wonderful stay, I had a good value for the suite I was in, no pool but the staff, room & pricing made up for not having a pool. I would return & recomend this Santa Cruz Best Western Plus Hotel.

"Uhmmm"
Adam P, 28 Août 2016

So the room scores a 4, the area and the rest of the hotel drags the score down (vs the price). If the hotel were less expensive then the score would be higher. It is about 3/4 mile from the main areas of the Main Street and boardwalk but note that in the evening you will be walking past 50 vagrants on your route to anywhere.

"Perfect Stay"
familyof4fromGR, 27 Août 2016

We initially booked this room for 3 nights but after the first night, we booked it for a 4th night. We had a King/Queen suite and it was very roomy and quiet. The breakfast was great as it always offered scrambled eggs and either sausage or bacon, had the usual cereal/milk, yogurt, oatmeal and waffle makers with asstd toppings. The staff was fantastic! I was a little leery of the parking garage, based on other reviews, but did not see what the big deal was. We hade no issues or complaints whatsoever. We also ate at Marianne's Ice Cream all 4 nights. They have over 80 homemade flavors and are very reasonable! If you walk to the boardwalk, which is about 25 min, go the way the hotel recommends thru the downtown area. We thought Ocean street looked like a straight shot but it goes through a residential area that feels a bit awkward with people just milling around the street & houses. If you are looking for something to do, you MUST take the time to drive to Big Sur. It is a gorgeous drive with so many turnouts with breathtaking views. Also look up Pfeiffer Beach on Trip Advisor (not to be confused with Julia Pfeiffer beach of Pfeiffer State Park). This is one of my most favorite places I have ever been!!! We also went to Big Basin Redwood Park which was really cool. Would love to return to the Santa Cruz area and stay here again!

"Lucky to even get checked in!!"
Julia R, 26 Août 2016

We arrived at 9pm with a reservation, but could not find the right place to park while checking in. We drove past, into the underground lot, got trapped in their, tried to go around the block which was not possible, and eventually crammed our honda into a tiny parking spaces. Everyone but the driver had to get out first. There is not nearly enough parking in the hotel for the hotel. The spaces are VERY SMALL even compared to SAN FRANCISCO. Ruined our whole stay. DO NOT PAY MORE TO STAY CLOSE IN TOWN ONLY TO NOT BE ABLE TO PARK. There is not even street parking there, or any other options nearby. Way to lay out the welcome matt, I wish we stayed at any other place we considered - which were all considerably less expensive. The room was across from breakfast, handy but loud in the morning. The breakfast was good, the size of the room was awesome. It felt like a cave though, no window in the room at all and not enough lighting.

"Great family place"
BrookeRochs, 24 Août 2016

We were very pleased with this hotel. We had a hard time finding the front door, even after walking all the way around the entire property (TWICE!!) we only saw the tiny sign next to the otherwise unmarked door because other guests were walking out. However once we found our way to the front desk we had a great stay. The lobby and rooms were clean and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast buffet was far and above your typical continental breakfast. Eggs, bacon, make your own waffle bar, bagels, cereal, yogurt... It was a perfect start to the day for our family of 5. Also, Mary Ann's Ice Cream is a short 20 min walk from the hotel! We will definitely be back.

"Good Value"
Terrence M, 22 Août 2016

Clean, well decorated lobby/ dining area ,good room, nice bed and pillows , good full breakfast buffet that is tended to. Hot tub, gym room and sauna. It was really the first time I really enjoyed staying at a hotel.Close to boardwalk.

"Good location and great service "
dougsum, 22 Août 2016

Family friendly. Large clean comfortable room. Parking, WiFi, and breakfast all included, which was nice. Our only complaint was that neither of us found the bed very comfortable, but that could have just been us. Otherwise very pleasant stay.

"Room not ready and unclean"
stsusabead, 15 Août 2016

Luckily we only stayed for 2 nights but on arrival at 6pm our room was not ready and we had to wait 30 minutes in lobby after a 7 hour drive! The lobby and communal areas are unclean , floors and tables dirty. The room ok. Ok for 1 /2 nights but not any longer.

"cozzy and comfortable"
637cathleenb, 14 Août 2016

The staff was very nice and the area was perfect to where I had to go. The rooms are very clean. Breakfast was good, there is a lot to choose from. Jacuzzi bath tub is a plus. It is almost like a one bed room appartment just missing the refergerator.

"good central location"
David D, 12 Août 2016

Staff and amenitites are very helpful and comfortable Location is away from the beach area but very near the downtown. Parking for larger cars and SUV's is very tight. Road noise in some units is disruptive of sleep.

"Good location, Parking sucks!"
MeshaG, 10 Août 2016

I was in town for a weekend soccer tournament and hotels everywhere were booked. I was pretty lucky to come across this hotel. I really enjoyed the location of the hotel. We were close to the boardwalk and restaurants. It was also not too far away from the highways. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was nice and clean. Breakfast was also decent. The main issues I had with the hotel was the bathroom and parking garage. The bathroom was small and difficult to enter. Perhaps they should have made the door to the bathroom swing out inside of in which would have made entering the bathroom a lot easier. As for the parking, thankfully parking is free; however the garage is very small and so are the spaces. It was very difficult to park my SUV there and one night we actually had to park across the street because my car couldn't fit into any of the spaces that were available. All in all, I would probably stay here again if I was unable to find anything else available in the area.

"Nice rooms,"
ThomasGBG, 03 Août 2016

The room are large and well maintained. There is a small pool at the hotel. Good breakfast. 10 min drive to the Boardwalk. Attentive staff. Free indoor parking. A small fitness room and a small sauna are available.

"Spacious and delicious Breakfast"
SanDiegobound2012, 03 Août 2016

This hotel's breakfast room provides more space to gather items and sit than most places I've stayed. Usually, I have to wait or bump elbows with other guests trying to get our food and drink but this BW separates the areas (ie coffee/hot water across from the food areas) with plenty of space to move. Good food, too.

"Noisy"
bmpe77, 02 Août 2016

I stayed here for one night after I booked it at the last minute while I was delirious from visiting Yosemite and then driving for hours. I paid a hefty price for a suite with a whirlpool. The suite was pretty nice in itself and the tub was a bonus after driving and hiking. However, like the previous reviewer, I was awakened at 2am by a loud, large group outside. I called down to the desk, and within about 10 minutes the group dispersed. Upon checkout I noticed a basket of earplugs at the front desk. This would have been nice to know. All of this would have been less of an issue if the air conditioning had the option to leave the fan constantly on. I despise hotels that do not allow the fan to be left on continuously. Also the air unit was in the main room, separated from the bedroom, so you can't close the bedroom doors and get air conditioning, and now you know that opening the windows is out of the question. Breakfast was your basic American continental, plus eggs and sausage. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again due to the price/noise ratio.

"Alan kennedy"
Kennedy5leeds, 01 Août 2016

Stayed for 2 nights in a 2 bed family suite which was adequate providing you spend more time away from your room rather than in it . The hotel is situated on a busy junction some 25min walk from the boardwalk and wharf. Sleeping proved difficult due to constant traffic , noisy groups outside in the early hours and then garbage collection at 5am Breakfast is very basic which would be acceptable if you had somewhere to sit and eat it but there is simply not enough chairs and tables to cater for all the residents All in all very disappointing and would not chose to stay here again On the plus side Monteray is a lovely town and well worth a visit the aquarium , cannery row and Fishermans wharf in particular All in all not too struck with Santa Cruz

"Trip Advisor"
Timothy M, 30 Juillet 2016

It was nice but we usually stay at Marriotts. We were in the best location for the Wharf to Wharf. We had fun with friends. The breakfast was fun to make the waffles. We have stayed at this particular hotel for a number of races but my husband has not run it in about 7 years.

"Good!"
Anna T, 29 Juillet 2016

The hotel was pleasant to stay at. The staff were friendly during check in and check out. Will be coming back again. Also wanted to mention that the hotel only had a bath tub not a pool, thought that was a little weird. Other than that it was great!

"First Family Trip"
kmorgan75, 29 Juillet 2016

Looked for a hotel quickly and did not have any trouble with check. Great deal for very short notice. All and all I would definitely stay at this place again if back in the area. Why does this need a minimum number of characters????? Doesn't let you leave the page without the minimum characters. Such crap!!!

"Great stay at a great hotel"
Lindsay W, 28 Juillet 2016

We booked our room at BW for a 2 night stay near the boardwalk and it was the best decision. The room price and size was great for our family of 3; and the complimentary breakfast was awesome. I usually don't like to stay at hotels because you never know who was in the room before you,but this hotel was very clean. No complaints at all. Oh and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Next time we are in Santa Cruz, will definitely stay here again. Just wish there was a pool.

"PLUS: it is not"
simondog, 28 Juillet 2016

The room was fine; clean and comfortable. The outside of the property is unkept but fits in with the general area. My biggest problem was that the walls are so thin. Plus, our room was surrounded by corridors. We had corridors on three sides of our room. Our window faced the inside of the hotel directly into the lobby. Children played kickball up and down two of the hallways. Staff asked them to stop but only after I left my room to ask. We were awakened by the breakfast crowd directly outside one window and a jackhammer sound on the other side of the wall. I would not have believed this was a BestWesternPLUS. PLUS it is not.

"My Daughter is a Banana Slug !"
Lydia F, 28 Juillet 2016

I was relaxing while my youngest daughter attended her U.C.S.C orientation. While relaxing in my room , I became aware of the quietness within while a busy intersection hummed and rattled just on the other side of the wall. Nice.

"Room with a viee"
TheAskews5, 28 Juillet 2016

Had we have know the room had no window we would not have booked here. Was adequate for what we needed. The pull out bed was very uncomfortable and our son have very little sleep. Rooms noisy because it was located right outside the the breakfast area. Ok for one night.

"Customer Service is top notch!"
TravelDeMistyFied, 26 Juillet 2016

This is not the newest Best Western I have stayed at, so it is a little worn, but maybe that is the norm for Santa Cruz? However, it was clean and very comfortable. The rooms are large and have a seating area away from the sleeping area; it is not separate however. The couch has a fold out twin mattress, so that is nice if you are traveling with a child or even an extra adult. The bathroom had a large jetted tub! There is a microwave, small fridge, and extra sink too. The breakfast is included and quite good. They have the usual fare, but the scrambled eggs each morning were like you made them at home not the runny weird ones that are usually offered in this type of setting. Also, they had some good bread choices, and a healthy high quality yogurt. Coffee and tea are available at all times. The desk will also give you bottled waters each day. This was a really nice perk! The very best part of the hotel was the staff. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. So much so that we really remarked at the customer service! Housekeeping did a very nice job. Parking is a bit of a pickle. It is under the hotel and limited. Some of the spaces are super small and there is no way that an average car could fit in them. We got pretty lucky most of the time, however when we came back late at night a couple of times we parked on the street.

"So So in Santa Cruz"
Amy R, 25 Juillet 2016

I wont say this is a bad hotel, but I expected it to be closer. This is not within walking distance of the Boardwalk with kids. Maybe with healthy adults. Brought my mom with bad knees and two little kids. The hotel was clean and secure. Rooms open into the interior of the hotel. They have the typical free breakfast bar, nothing special. The gal working the counter was very nice. If you plan on using the fridge just know you have to turn it on to get it cold first. They turn them off between guests.

"Enormous Hotel Suite"
Hanika P, 22 Juillet 2016

The size of the suite was most-impressive. For a family of four (2 adults, 7 year-old, 1-year old) there was plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. The room was clean and the breakfast was good and plentiful. Everyone on staff was very helpful and they even had additional toiletries if any guests had forgotten to pack anything. As had been mentioned in previous reviews, the parking spaces in the parking garage are TIGHT so please be aware of that fact if you are driving anything larger than a sedan. We drove a Nissan Maxima and although we fit into the spots, we too found them to be tight. Oh, and this property is close to the beach- it was maybe a 5 minute drive from our hotel. A definite plus for our family.

"Not my favorite Best Western"
marileef55, 20 Juillet 2016

This was my first time to stay in Santa Cruz. Room was very clean and staff was friendly and efficient. Limited parking and parking spaces way too small. The breakfast eating area lacks efficent seating, but the food was good. No pool, but other indoor amenities. All the amenities you would expect in the room, but small for a suite and needed updated decor.

"Quality for a decent price"
Carroll D, 18 Juillet 2016

This is a good place to stay if you want to have a care free fun time and not have to worry about draining your bank account. Friendly and clean with easy access to everything in the area. I have been staying here for the past 10 years and never had a problem with the staff or my stay. Love it here.

"Great hotel for families "
Heather B, 17 Juillet 2016

I was very pleased with our stay here. The staff is very friendly and the rooms were clean. I liked having an extra seating area for the kids. I also felt safe here as it is away from the boardwalk and quiet. The city does not feel as safe as it has in the past. It is within walking distance from the boardwalk and downtown. Great location!

"Amazing"
Alana T, 16 Juillet 2016

My boyfriend and I stayed here for My Best Friend's Wedding and we were absolutely Blown Away by the customer service and Hospitality. They not only checked us in early but let us use their conference room to get ready for the wedding with no charge and also checked us out early without charging us for the next day. they are one of the most amazing hotels with one of the most amazing set of staff you could ever ask for. Parking is limited but hospitality is worth it. We will be back. Thank you best western

"We will comeback"
brogie19, 16 Juillet 2016

Nice hotel, close enough to the boardwalk that we were able to walk.Nice room,we had a front room with a pullout coach,a tv and a bathroom. A bedroom with a king size bed,a tv.A bathroom with a nice jacuzzi tub and a big shower and two pedestal sinksand a separate toilet,in its own room. The breakfast was ok,the dining area is small,so it can get crowded.

"Wonderful Room"
Sylvia B, 15 Juillet 2016

The room was absolutely wonderful! It was large and comfortable with two t.v.'s. The parking situation was very tight. We got in late and was only one tiny space left. There were not enough spaces to sit down for breakfast. During the busy time, there were people waiting around for tables.

"Coastal rest stops table room. "
Dee W, 13 Juillet 2016

After driving along the coast all day it was great to have a comfortable room. It was a little hard to get into this location, a U-turn on the street and into underground parking to get to lobby. Strange but standard quick check in once inside. The breakfast in the morning was available with plenty of seating area. Room was a large suite and comfortable bed.

"great value and location"
toccara s, 12 Juillet 2016

the rooms were really nice. the suite was so spacious it was hard to look for belongs to repack once it was time to checkout. the room had a fireplace, two bathrooms that were full stocked with lotion shampoo etc. the staff at the front lobby was very helpful with any question or request. the breakfast was fully loaded with eggs , waffles, bacon, oatmeal, bagels, coffee, oj, and so much more. this hotel is a great gem.

"Santa Cruz Gem"
chrisb55, 07 Juillet 2016

The Best Western Santa Cruz is an excellent option for those wanting a nice quiet place to stay in santa Cruz. The room comes with a morning breakfast served in the center atrium with ambient lighting and fresh air that makes the morning refreshing.. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and well suited for a good stay. The Boardwalk is a 20 minute walk away. lose enough for a visit, far enough away for a quiet nights sleep.

"Good family spot"
Diane W, 01 Juillet 2016

Stayed for 3 nights in the 2 room suite. My husband and I and 3 teenage boys who hung out in one of king bed rooms while my husband and I had the other king bed room. Also was living space, fireplace, with pull out couch and dining space. 2 full bathrooms with spa tubs. Breakfast was plentiful with good selections and free. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Location is an easy mile walk to the boardwalk. Only negative is there were no doors for the bedrooms. The hotel could use some updating but We would definitely stay again.

"Santa Cruz trip"
Christine N, 01 Juillet 2016

Overall it was very good. Room was clean in a good location. The suite size was good and comfortable. Breakfast had a full array of choices each day. Enjoyed the outdoor spa. The parking garage is a bit challenging. Hard to maneuver or truck with camper shell.

"Great Stay"
Karen S, 30 Juin 2016

We only stayed one night during a quick trip to Santa Cruz, but this was a perfect spot for us. Convenient, clean, comfy bed and good breakfast. Staff was friendly and parking was good. The room was spacious and quiet.

"great stay"
835darlenec, 25 Juin 2016

pricey and location is not close to attraction but room are clean with fresh sheets and big.. awesome stay , my kids love it and..enjoyed.. good breakfast ,friendly staff and close to downtown and restaurant..

"Comfortable Stay for a Beach Weekend."
269jesicaj, 25 Juin 2016

A worthwhile hotel to consider if you are planning an overnight trip in Santa Cruz, CA. Although the hotel is a bit more expensive than others in the area, it offers a lot of amenities from a fitness center, to in-room wifi and a continental breakfast in the morning with plenty of food options. Also, the hotel is reasonably located to offer you entertainment at minimal walking distance. From the Boardwalk to Downtown Santa Cruz for shopping it's just a short walk away.

"Good Location and Parking Provided"
ctalan, 25 Juin 2016

Not on the beach but good location with easy walk to boardwalk. Underground parking is great in the hot summer. Breakfast was nice with good variety. Lobby area very small but comfortable. Some nearby restaurants, Thai and Chinese.

"large room set up with ex blankets and pillows already for sofa bed. parking should have larger slots there too tight."
marlen r, 22 Juin 2016

Stayed in rm with king sz bed. Pretty large. Had sofa bed as well with ex blankets and pillows in closet. Rm was perfect and staff were very friendly. parking was really tight. I arrived late and had to park on street.

"Nice rooms. Good location."
Greed0992, 20 Juin 2016

My girlfriend and I stayed here two separate times. Both times were nice experiences and we enjoyed our stay. The oversized rooms are great with comfortable beds and nice amenities. The staff is very attentive and caring and the overall feeling of the hotel it nice. The only complaint I have is the parking situation as some "spots" could not even fit a smart car. So if the hotel is booked up you may be out of luck if you leave or check in late. Very close to downtown santa cruz and the boardwalk this hotel is a great location with reasonable prices.

"Always an Adventure!"
JohnAndCrispin, 19 Juin 2016

I do so wish I could tell you about our stay at the Paradox Inn, but we didn't know of it when we booked at the Best Western Plus All Suites Inn. We are in town for a wedding, and the groom chose where to recommend the party stays. Always listen to the bride. The hotel rooms are large. Ours has two rooms that are a mix of ADA Inaccessible. The mattresses on both beds are the most durable we've ever slept on. The air conditioner has a quaint chirp sure to entertain you throughout the night. When the cleaning staff does eventually get to your room, they do a great job making the bed. There is entertainment provided every morning at 6:00 am by the children in the room above. The races must be something to see! We are so grateful that the management would not interrupt the festivities. I would hate to have missed even a minute of it! All in all it was a stay to be dismembered. Thanks to Best Western for a miserable stay!

"Good Time"
Cynthia D, 19 Juin 2016

The room was nice outside of the dripping air conditioner. It was nice to not be able to hear other people. I would have enjoyed a pool. We had kids with us and the ocean is pretty cold so a pool would have been great. The parking garage was a disaster, basically, you had to park early and not leave to make sure you got a place with the parking pass we got. Very unorganized.

"Convenient"
Arthur B, 19 Juin 2016

This is a relatively small hotel, but very convenient to the boardwalk, shopping, and restaurants. Hotel staff were considerate, helpful, and professional. The room was pleasant and comfortable. Parking was convenient and plentiful.

"Good trip without breaking the bank!"
Linda P, 15 Juin 2016

Traveled with 3 friends and we all shared a 2-bedroom suite. Here's the story...there is really only 1 bedroom with a king. The "second" bedroom is an open area with no door, but with a queen bed. Living area was small, but had a double sleeper sofa. There is some wear, it was clean and housekeeping was in every day. Breakfast was usual (scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt), good, but nothing special. Staff was very pleasant, and location was good--easy access and close to restaurants, beach, etc. Cost was reasonable. Only negative was parking! It was under the motel and very tight spots. I would stay here again, but it probably isn't for anyone looking for luxury.

"Nice home base"
jayares2015, 13 Juin 2016

We came to NorCal for a friend's wedding. This hotel was a nice home base for the weekend as the activities were all within a decent distance. The room was clean and comfortable, with the exception of the bed. There was a hump on the side I slept on and I felt like I could be thrown out. Unless the 3rd floor offers it, there's really no view of the beach since it's several blocks away. In fact, the first room we were given looked directly at a wall. The second room at least let daylight in. We kept the window open all weekend and enjoyed the nice breeze at night. Breakfast is satisfactory with a varied selection. There is an onsite parking garage with free parking, but spaces are limited and it's a tight squeeze to maneuver.

"Excellent stay for family"
Shawna S, 09 Juin 2016

We enjoyed this hotel. The 2 bedroom suite accommodated our large family, and it was nice to have 2 bathrooms with spa tubs. We were very comfortable and have been stayed here twice. Would recommend this to any family.

"End of school year trip!"
Smeasporter, 05 Juin 2016

Great hotel, room, and location. We stayed in the King/queen suite and it was perfect for our family of five(2 teen girls and 6yo boy) Spacious, quiet, and clean. Nice hot tub. The Continental breakfast met all our needs. Will definitely stay here again.

"Clean, reasonable, and large rooms"
Soulefulltraveler, 02 Juin 2016

Right in the middle of town, with parking and breakfast included. Extremely friendly staff at check-in (Ashley rocks!). Large suites with fridge and room to spread out. Old hotel, but well maintained and clean. Walk to the Boardwalk. We'll be back.

"Best In Santa Cruz"
Marcia B, 31 Mai 2016

Very Clean , family oriented, close to boardwalk, great service, great breakfast , and fare price , checking in was great, hot showers, cold fridge, the suite was fabulous with a table , so comfy for being away from home .

"Great location"
June F, 26 Mai 2016

Rooms were clean and spacious...beds were comfortable. The only problem we had was that there was no attendant working the continental breakfast. Guests head to go to reception to ask for this and that but other than that, I would recommend. Very close to boardwalk also.

"A decent hotel"
Patrick H, 24 Mai 2016

Stayed here for two night. It was comfortable and had a good complimentary breakfast. The staff seemed friendly enough and it was close to everything we wanted to visit. It seems to cater to a younger crowd.

"Another wonderful stay!"
Rebel B, 23 Mai 2016

This hotel is a great place to stay! Great rooms, friendly staff, awesome breakfast and always enjoy our trip!! I would highly recommend this hotel for this area! Close enough to the Boardwalk and close to downtown Santa Cruz!

"So Nice!"
Damien M, 22 Mai 2016

Stayed for a week. I looked online multiple times at every hotel in town, checked prices and amenities, read reviews, finally decided on this one. Good call! Don't let the location at the very busy intersection of Ocean and Soquel fool you, It's a 5 minute walk to downtown and another 10 to the beach, 15 minute drive to UCSC. Pakinin is free under the property. but limited, just park it and walk to anywhere in town, or better yet get a bike! As to my stay: Wonderful! Room was awesome, bed was amazing, seperate living area, 2 big flat screens with free hob, wet bar, mini fridge and microwave, super clean modern bathroom. (Ask for an upper level room with a city view.) Very nice extra large hot tub, sauna, workout room. tee and coffee in the lobby all day, comfortable seating areas, fireplace, nice atrium. Hot breakfast included, very good! Place was impeccably clean and maintained and the staff is superbly awesome. I know where I'm staying when I go back in the fall!

"Great room, fabulous service."
Caroline19712014, 16 Mai 2016

Wow, easy to find, staff so accomodating, gave us a newly refurbished room, which was a suite and very lush indeed. Truly great stay very clean rooms, breakfast was very good great variation. Nice pool area, clean and warm

"Rested well"
Marti B, 16 Mai 2016

Three nights; Thursday through Sunday. We were given a room on the third floor with our window facing east. It was a nice little suite with ample room to stretch out and relax at the end of the day. Being on the third floor; the water in the shower and in both sinks would sometimes sputter when turned on initially; it was fine once the water had displaced the air in the pipes; it may be a little disconcerting if you aren't used to this (discussed with another couple at breakfast). Parking is available underneath the hotel; you get a little slip to put on your dashboard. Breakfast includes a decent selection of instant hot and cold cereal, eggs and breakfast meat, items to toast, waffles, and beverages. If you have special dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, etc), you may need to plan an alternative as selection is low. Location of the hotel is pretty nice. It sits on the corner of Ocean St and Soquel Ave. It is a little over a mile to the Beach Boardwalk. Travel south on Soquel for 0.5 miles and you are in the downtown area: museum of art and history, shops, restaurants and other local businesses. North on Soquel are more businesses, a smattering of restaurants - many with live, local entertainment. Staff was friendly and efficient. When we arrived, the lady behind the counter was still going through training; both she and the front desk manager were very gracious. We had prepaid for the room, so checking out meant that I just had to turn in the keys. Due to the location of the hotel, you may hear some light street noise (mostly during commute time) and occasional sirens. Most of this is diminished by simply shutting the window. I prefer to have windows open as opposed to having the air conditioner on. Overall we enjoyed the stay and will certainly go back to this location.

"No suites at the "all suites" Best Western"
Michael T, 16 Mai 2016

I was specifically looking for suites at hotels I stayed at with my mother during a recent trip. For each booking in the different cities we stayed in, I would call to confirm that by "suite" I was getting a room divided by a wall and door (so that our snoring wouldn't bother each other). The person at this Best Western that I booked with assured me this was the case here, but when I arrived, it was not. It's just one room, with a bed and a very uncomfortable sleeper sofa. Staff didn't offer me any kind of discount or anything else to make up for this. Also, the parking is horrible (extremely tight spots). The one positive thing was the bathroom, which was very clean. This room actually cost more than a real suite at the Embassy Suites near SFO the night before. So I can't say that Bewt Western was good value for money.

"Nice place to stay"
corip102, 03 Mai 2016

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast. Close enough to the Boardwalk to not have to deal with all the people. Walking distance to some restaurants. Very easy to find. This place has a large hot tub just lacking a swimming pool.

"Not worth the money"
P6870UQandrewl, 30 Avril 2016

Great location and good breakfast, but the parking spots in the parking garage are too small. They should try to have more parking available outside their parking garage. Our room was considered a "suite," but honestly there was nothing special about it. All that meant was that there was a roll out bed and TV in the small living room. And our mattress was not comfortable.

"Good place in Santa Cruz"
brandenburg456, 26 Avril 2016

For our family I reserved a suite that had two sleeping areas and a living area. The service at the front desk was helpful and friendly. The room was large and clean. Parking is controlled, but we were allowed to leave our car for a while after we checked out. It's about 20-25 minutes walk to the beach, but it's definitely one of the nicer hotels in the area.

"Great stay in Santa Cruz"
rxjames, 25 Avril 2016

The Inn was excellent. Good value for the money, great breakfast, central location, was able to walk most places. Parking was tight. Wish they had a pool in addition to the hot tub. Wifi was fast and easily accessible.

"Good Value Hotel"
Ghaith391, 22 Avril 2016

The hotel is centrally located to downtown and the boardwalk and it is a very comfortable and clean,it is extremely good value for money. The front desk staff is very friendly ,efficient and helpful. We stayed in the hotel 6-Nights. We had an amazing Two spacious Suite Rooms ,Room was clean , with comfortable beds, and the Bathroom is good. All of the appliances in the room were in 100% working condition. The Wifi is Strong. The Free Buffet Breakfast in the morning was excellent with good selections. Parking garage is free but fills up fast, especially in Weekend!!! Only real issue was street noise on the side of the Hotel.but it gets better later in the night. We would definitely stay here again.

"We'll be back"
lastminute22, 19 Avril 2016

I never know what to say about BW breakfasts. But this was the only BW to offer REAL hard boiled eggs out of the 4 BW we stayed at last week. I do wish the wifi was a SECURE connection, rather than an open one. And for the price paid, I really feel the rooms should have at least a little 3-4 cup coffee pot, so I wouldn't have to bring one. Those single cup hot pots are near useless. The bed was VERY comfy, the staff was VERY wonderful.

"Nice Hotel"
TravelinMinee, 17 Avril 2016

Enjoyed our one might stay here in April. Room very large & nice, updated bathroom. Breakfast ok, nothing special. Staff very nice & helpful. Only complaint on our room was that it faced a wall, literally. We spend very little time in our room, so it was not a problem.

"Convenient, Solid Service, Ample Breakfast in an Unusual Floor Plan"
Nelson J, 16 Avril 2016

Our family recently stayed at this property while on spring break. We were traveling with another family and the location was convenient for what we wanted to do in Santa Cruz, which was to visit friends in the area, see the Boardwalk and test our skills at the legendary Delaveaga Disc Golf Course (amazing track!). The lobby is bright, colorful and contemporary, fully modernized with games (XBOX) as well as shared board games on the tables. Front desk staff was sweet and friendly as were the breakfast team and engineering staff we encountered. We felt the service, breakfast and location were fine for the level of hotel. The tricky part on providing a fair review is that we ended up in a central room, which is what it sounds like, a room that is situated just off the lobby in the center part of the hotel. So the hotel rating is a solid 3, the interior room I would put at a 2. As an interior room there are no windows to the outside and the door opens directly into the buffet line at breakfast. We were pretty beat from travelling so didn't worry too much about it, but it is a funky setup indeed if you end up in one of these rooms. The good news is that these center rooms are large, but the window that is near the door pretty much has you on display for anyone in the lobby if you open the blinds, so best to keep them closed. I imagine the more traditional rooms are adequate and the staff certainly went out of their way to make everyone happy and I noticed that there was a management person working respectfully with staff members on some basic improvements to the lobby and other areas of the hotel. It appears the operator is genuinely interested in continued improvement to the property so hopefully that includes figuring out a way to improve the inner rooms or convert them to meeting rooms or something else (that's perhaps what they were before they became guest rooms). Request a room other than one of the interior chambers and I expect you'll have a positive experience. If there interior rooms are the only ones available you may consider alternative arrangements.

"Allocated horrible windowless rooms! Switched rooms easily but new rooms were disappointing too"
Ruffin55, 16 Avril 2016

We booked two suites for a party of three. We arrived around 5pm but one of the rooms wasn't ready so we had to wait (not a good start). But things got worse when we saw the rooms. One (two queens) had no external window or natural light. There was an internal window into a dark corner of the atrium which let in very little light even with the shutters open - not that you could open them if you wanted any privacy. The second room (King) had a window of sorts but facing directly onto a wall (another reviewer has posted a picture of this). Neither of the rooms had pleasant lighting and both felt like thinly disguised concrete boxes - which, of course, is exactly what they are! The staff were helpful when we asked to change rooms although we had to wait again before one was ready. This time we got a pleasant enough King suite, but it faced directly out into the main road outside so was incredibly noisy. Has the hotel not heard of double glazing? The double queen suite we we switched to was actually a one-bedroom suite at the back of the hotel. The bedroom was fine although the window looked out onto an overshadowed courtyard so was pretty dark. But the sitting room was pretty horrible - dark, starkly furnished, harsh lighting and with the TV bizarrely placed on top of rather than inside the TV unit - presumably the TV didn't fit but perhaps the hotel could have thought of buying one that did! I can't think of anyone choosing to sit in that horrible room gazing at the empty hole in the cabinet, but I guess the suite might suit a family that wanted a separate room for their kids to sit/play in. Another annoyance in this room was that you couldn't open the bedroom and bathroom doors at the same time (although splintered wood suggested that people had tried to!) and the bathroom basin was in a separate room from the WC and shower but had no towel rail. Come on guys, what are you supposed to do with the towels? On the plus side, the staff on the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful and the breakfast was above average with a good selection.

"Santa Cruz."
884dianea, 15 Avril 2016

Clean spacious suite. Courteous employees. We were checked in quickly, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great eggs, sausage , yogurt, fruit, cereal, pastries and more. Assorted games were placed on the tables when breakfast wasn't on. Great idea! We enjoyed our stay and will return.

"Great hotel!!"
Choli D, 12 Avril 2016

The customer service could not have been better!! Even the guy in training was sweet and helpful. The hotel is clean inside and out. Has a modern look inside and in the rooms. The continental breakfast has multiple options and accommodates lactose intolerant people like myself. The Jacuzzi is big and relaxing. The location is about a five minute walk to downtown and eight minute walk to the beach, so we saved on parking.

"Lovely room"
Sarah C, 10 Avril 2016

Very friendly and helpful staff, on arrival we met Ashley who was very helpful in getting our room sorted as we arrived a little early, all other staff we met were also very nice, our room looked out on the hotel lobby which was a little bizarre, the room itself was lovely, had a little sitting room area and bedroom area, lovely shower as well. The only complaint we had was not for the hotel but another guest in the room above who had a small child i think that was just running and jumping around, this was at 11.40pm, I did complain that this had woken my son and the person on duty was very polite and promised to get in touch with the room and ask them to keep the noise down. which they did. apart from that the hotel was lovely hot tub was fabulous, lovely and bubbly, would stay here again if we ever went back to Santa Cruz, ideally situated for going out and about in the car and also for walking down to the boardwalk. Car park is under the hotel,so ideal.

"Surprisingly good - excellent location - Santa Cruz"
oaktree2015, 10 Avril 2016

First time we have ever stayed at a BW hotel. I have been reading in my hotel trade magazines that BW has made a tremendous effort to upgrade and offer a diverse mix of accommodations. The Patel management runs a tight ship and we would definitely recommend this BW Suites in Santa Cruz.

"Best Western Plus is always the Best"
Marilyn R, 01 Avril 2016

We have started using Best Western Plus the past three years. Sometimes, we just want to be sure we have comfortable beds. Our last trip was a family trip with grand children and they are so accommodating. The family suites have everything you need for a restful stay and nice family area to play cards or watch TV.

"Clean rooms"
Marian B, 29 Mars 2016

The room was very clean and updated. Bathroom and shower were big and roomy. Parking was a bit difficulty it would be especially difficulty if you have a big suv. The parking is underneath parking garage and spaces are limited.

"The Perfect Hotel Room"
Darin P, 28 Mars 2016

Those of us who have traveled with our children all know the nightmare a standard hotel room presents. Two adults and two kids trying to get by on two queen beds in a small room is not for the weak of heart. However, this room was perfect: a two bedroom suite, to include a sitting room. Two king beds, two bathrooms, three TVs. I marveled at the splendor that was our hotel room. Spacious, and not cramped at all... it was perfect.

"Very Friendly Staff"
Jennifer D, 28 Mars 2016

I booked this hotel right at the beginning of Spring Break and I felt the price was very fair in light of that and it's proximity to the Boardwalk. The staff was very friendly and the room was huge. 2 TV's inside, Microwave and Refrigerator. Gorgeous shower. Breakfast had a lot to offer and had very convenient hours. My daughter and I had a wonderful time and appreciated the comfortable King Bed in our room.

"Nice staff but was very noisy"
George F, 20 Mars 2016

I had a room about midway back from the street but it was very noisy with the sound of motorcycles taking off when the light changed. The hotel is located at the corner of Ocean ave and Hwy 1 entry ramp. Traffic getting out in the morning is almost impossible and the traffic noise from these streets will keep you up at night.

"Aways the BEST place to stay"
katandthegeneral, 15 Mars 2016

We always look forward to staying at a Best Western when we travel. The best value you can find any where! The rooms are clean, the service is wonderful. Parking here is FREE! Love the location..close to everything in Santa Cruz. can't wait to return!

"Extremely disappointed with staff and establishment"
bonniee958, 15 Mars 2016

Upon arrival they had changed my suite to a regular room with 2 beds and a partition with sofa on other side; therefore no privacy and not what I had reserved. The staff said that was the best they could do for me. So TV's in same room do not work as one or the other is 2 loud to actually hear your program, furniture was subpar and very old and scratched up. The tv was low so you could not get comfortable when watching. Staff not pleasant. We had a great day for a concert and the boardwalk with some students at UC Santa Cruz but not happy with this establishment at all.

"Happy to have stayed here..."
Jan B, 29 Février 2016

Great value and a very clean and beautiful room. My room was in a very quiet place in the facility. The parking lot can be a bit tricky particularly if you have a large vehicle. The breakfast area was delightful. And the standard Best Western breakfast is lovely.

"Great Hotel"
makjms, 27 Février 2016

We were upgraded to a family suite. It felt like we were in a separate room for our kids. They absolutely loved having the privacy and the king bed. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a normal Best Western breakfast, tasty. The breakfast area was really big and that was great to not be packed in like sardines. We did enjoy the hot tub but really wished there would have been a pool. The parking spots were pretty tight. We all in all thought this was a great place to stay and will stay again next time we visit Santa Cruz!

"Nice room and close to downtown"
Holly M, 22 Février 2016

I was really pleased with the size of the bedroom. Conveniently located close to downtown. Less than one mile and an easy walk. I was with 2 other couples and we walked downtown for dinner and some live music. Planned on taking a cab back to the hotel but we decided to walk instead. Nice way to end the evening.

"Nice place to stay."
Jbonebrake, 22 Février 2016

We walked up on a Sunday and they had a room. It is nice to have the extra space in a suite but seems to be a bit more expensive than what some sites said it would be. A little loud with kids moving about upstairs but comfortable bed, and a big bathroom were nice to have.

"Good Service in a beautiful place"
Edda Q, 17 Février 2016

All the attention was excellent and the environment was very welcoming. After a long trip (hours driving), that is a PLUS! I recommend this hotel and if I come back to Santa Cruz, CA I would stay in the same hotel.

"Really Cool, but confusing interior"
MrRedlands, 10 Février 2016

I stayed here one night on a business trip. Rooms are really nice and modern with a nice flat screen tv. (I dont know if i had an upgrade but i had a corner room, that had a small living room with a tv, desk, couch - that could be turned into a bed) and a bedroom with another tv in it. The bathroom was very big. Small fridge and microwave included plus all the small necessities. The outside looks a little old but once you go in its kind of like a doughnut with the rooms on the outside of the big empty space in the middle. It was very confusing navigating on he inside since the hallways lead in different directions, yes they have signs but still needs more then a day to adjust to the layout. Breakfast wasn't as fancy as i expected from a BW but it was ok. ( fruit, yogurt, coffee, juices, and a waffle maker ) I will definitely stay here again if in the area .

"Great location and good price"
Michael J, 10 Février 2016

This hotel is in a great location and pricing is great. I stayed two nights and would stay again. Breakfast was excellent with good selections. Room was clean and only real issue was street noise on that side of the Hotel. Otherwise, the place looked great, clean and central location to plenty of activities.

"Thank you!"
fnorry, 18 Janvier 2016

Ashley at the front desk is friendly, professional, and accommodating to our family. The manger and staff were very welcoming and made sure we were happy. They do this for everyone. This is our 3rd visit. We'll be coming back for the workout room and spa. A++

"Perfect for us"
MikeHPuyallup, 12 Janvier 2016

This hotel fulfills our criteria for a good hotel (friendly staff, comfortable beds, free breakfast (very good), good location, and very good value). We have stayed here for years and will continue to do so.

"Excellent visit to the area!"
CaAnonymous, 05 Janvier 2016

Kudos to both Ms. Maryana A. and Maria from Best Western Plus All Suites in Santa Cruz. They both were exceptionally helpful with our reservation, questions and needs during our stay. Our room was excellent - clean (most importantly), very comfortable and very quiet - everything that we could have looked for. Again, would not ever hesitate to stay here again; worked very well for a base for all our hiking trips! And, no - no vested interest in this establishment, we just believe in kudos where deserved. Thank you for making our stay very pleasant!

"A great place to stay with children - Cold Lounge"
Nell F, 04 Janvier 2016

The layout of the room was perfect for a family. It had a living room area next to the beds, including kitchen amenities. The hot tub was a big hit with the children and provided in house entertainment. The downside is the lack of heating in the main communal lounge, where we ate breakfast. People were literally wrapped up in their overcoats and down jackets for breakfast. It was very uncomfortable. The hotel could easily purchase space heaters to compensate for the lack of central heating. Pleasant and friendly staff.

"Santa Cruz Getaway"
Jennifer W, 04 Janvier 2016

The front desk staff is very friendly. The breakfast was mediocre. The hot tub was fabulous. The basic suite is a large room with a couch, nothing to exciting but good for a small family. Overall I felt it was a very good value.

"Spacious room , great service and very nice complimentary breakfast"
Kristina A, 31 Décembre 2015

I was in Santa Cruz to work so needed to spend a lot of time in my room. It was the weekend before Christmas, so I expected some parties, but was not prepared for a soccer team that seemed to be holding a practice on my floor after midnight. The management got them quieted down and when they started up again the next morning helped me move to a different floor. My new room was much nicer and I was able to enjoy my stay and get work done as well. The parking garage is tight but parking in Santa Cruz is always scarce and at least there was no extra charge like at some hotels in the area. I plan to come back to this hotel and think it is the best deal in town.

"Santa Cruz Inn Rocks!"
Rob T, 29 Décembre 2015

Really great and fun place to stay, great location, hop skip and a jump to wharf and nearby beaches, clean, friendly staff was excellent in suggesting food places open and directions etc, good free breakfast in the morning, just a delight!

"Old school hotel with some good features, needs to improve the parking,"
crazy4nature, 23 Décembre 2015

Good location for anyone who needs to be centrally located in Santa Cruz. The rooms on the street are quite noisy but it gets better later in the night. I got upgraded to a small suite with a sitting room and additional TV. The room was quite large, clean and very comfortable. The shower was modern. Amenities are low quality but acceptable for a Best Western. Breakfast is included but with the hotel sold out, everyone seemed to be in a rush to get their breakfast so I went somewhere else. The parking is pretty bad, the spaces are small and limited so you may have to park in the street. There is a handful of restaurants not far from the hotel. If you want to treat yourself to a nice dinner go to the restaurant inside the Hotel Paradox.

"Great Stay!"
megan l, 19 Décembre 2015

Loved this hotel, it was centrally located to everything I wanted to do on santa cruz. The room was clean and spacious, comfy bed, nice tv. The free breakfast really good, hot waffles, eggs, bacon, etc. Definitely would stay again on my next santa Cruz trip!

"Nice"
nancylS990MM, 29 Novembre 2015

Everything was very nice. The people upstairs were very noisy and the desk clerk took care of it. The breakfast was good and enjoyed the atrium. A little pricey but in the same range as the other hotels.

"2 Blocks to Downtown Santa Cruz"
Julie O, 16 Novembre 2015

Great location if downtown is your destination, 2 blocks to downtown Santa Cruz - shopping, dining, theatre and overall people watching. Free permit parking underneath the building, you can pretty much walk everywhere. Rooms were recently updated and tastefully furnished, bathrooms are bigger. We had the King with SofaBed and there were plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.

"Very helpful and comfortable"
Kimberly S, 14 Novembre 2015

I had to come into town unexpectedly because my son was in the hospital. I worked with Maria and she was very kind and helped me get situated. My room was cozy and the bedding was very nice compared to most hotels.

"Great Customer Service From Some, Terrible From Others, Creepy Place - Needs Major Renovations"
Outofdodge_10, 12 Novembre 2015

The location and price were very good for this hotel. I was with a relative so she and I needed separate beds. We arrived and they didn't have two queen beds, only a king bed. They did upgrade us to a suite that was very large, but in a dingy and creepy part of the building. I think it's used for handicap people, but it was eerie. My bathroom had hair on the sink, so not cleaned and it felt like it, which was disgusting. The toilet in one bathroom didn't work and the refrigerator didn't work properly. The TV's were quirky and we needed to call in the tech guy to fix them. Same with the internet. Even with his help, we had intermittent internet service. It was mostly nonexistent. There were fire alarms all over the room on the handicap side which I found to be strange. Why so many? The parking is underground and there is enough of it, but it's sketchy with the one-ways and all of the poles to maneuver around. It's in a location that is close to the beach by car. The tech guy was really nice and so was the lady who checked us in. But we cancelled the room on the last night after staying over a week and she never did it. They said it was too late when we checked out, but Expedia fixed that. It was their mistake for telling us it was taken care of and not doing it. One of the nights we arrived at the hotel and there was someone passed out on the lobby floor with someone next to them rubbing their head. Nobody did anything. I guess they didn't want an ambulance because it was some sort of panic attack. It was strange. There was a free breakfast, but I didn't bother. In-room coffee. The rooms were very large, but I didn't care since it was creepy. The air conditioning wasn't working in one room of the suite.

"Great Value"
DarinOregon, 11 Novembre 2015

The hotel was conveniently located to my business meeting, was comfortable and clean, and the service was outstanding. The front desk manager provided me with local information that was very helpful. Will definitely return in the future.

"Big Rooms, Good Location, Free Breakfast @ WiFi"
Don R, 11 Novembre 2015

I've stayed at this hotel on a number of trips to Santa Cruz. It's convenient, clean, the staff is friendly and rates are typically quite good. The location isn't in downtown or along the beach, although you can be at either one in a few minutes in a car - or a comfortable walk on a nice day. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, a New Leaf and Whole Foods markets nearby if you want to do some meals or snacks in your over-sized room. Most of the rooms are large, some of them very large and great for families or a larger group. I think the hotel may have been built in several phases, as every room I've had is different, and the overall floorplan of the hotel is a bit hard to figure out, but it all works. I've always had a refrigerator and microwave, and sometimes a sofa, chairs and seating area. TV's are big, WiFi is free, and they serve a decent hot breakfast for free every morning. There's lots of free underground parking and it's got a lobby and common areas - unlike many of the motel properties around the area. The two cautions I would have is that some rooms only have windows that look into an indoors courtyard / atrium. It's not bad, just a little weird if you're wanting to see the outdoors. The other is electrical plugs at the desk or bedside are limited - and you may be crawling along the floor to find plugs. For those of us who travel with phones, computers, and other electronics gear, it's a bit of a throwback since so many hotels now have plugs on the desktop and bedside tables. If you want luxury or charm, this isn't a good choice. But if you want something that's convenient, friendly, and know that everything is going to work this is a great option.

"Not Recommended. Very Unsafe Room."
Wildwoodatheart, 05 Novembre 2015

It is hard, for some reason, to find a good hotel in Santa Cruz. We travel there often, and all the hotels seem to be "dumpy". The standards just don't measure up to just about any other place to which we travel. That being said, this place, at first look, appeared to be better than average. The parking situation is horrible. The spots are small, with poles making it difficult to maneuver in the garage unless you have a small car. The lobby is spacious, but it has a large (but dirty) sunroof. This makes it incredibly hot inside. There are not open windows, so the sun bakes the place. We were given a room with no outside windows; it was stifling when we checked in. The first night, we cranked the air conditioning and got a good night's sleep. The second night, the air conditioner began making loud growling sounds, so we turned it off. However, it got so hot and stuffy in the room, we had to turn it back on. Then it started spitting out chunks of ice, literally flying out of the vents! We shut it down, but it took a few minutes for it to shut off. When we called the desk, they said there was really nothing they could do. We asked for a fan, so the air would at least move in the room, but they didn't have any. So, we were forced to try to sleep in an unsafe room. In the morning, we spoke to the new desk person who apologized and gave us a small discount. They said that since the hotel was totally booked, they would not have been able to move us. They didn't really seem too concerned that a major piece of electrical equipment in the room was totally unsafe. I would NEVER go to this hotel. By the way, the included breakfast was nothing special, and they did not keep things stocked up or keep the tables clean.

"Santa Cruz Hotel -Worthwhile Choice for a Higher Pricetag"
269jesicaj, 04 Novembre 2015

I usually book my stay at this hotel when my boyfriend and I want a short vacation in Santa Cruz. It's not as cheap as other hotels but (in my opinion) you get what you pay for. Clean rooms that are kept immaculate and a staff that is always friendly and helpful. Worthwhile choice for comfort and close to a lot of Santa Cruz attractions.

"Not bad for Santa Cruz"
Pamela W, 03 Novembre 2015

Staff is super friend and nice, the facilities are not the cleanest... however this is one of the nicer hotels if you want to stay near downtown SC. If you are not staying at the beach I recommend staying here.

"Don't Go There"
saturdaydiner, 02 Novembre 2015

This is the worst hotel for the price I've ever stayed in. Let's see, water out from 8 AM to 2 PM on our first full days. The AC sounded like a jet taking off. It's not clean and the overall facility shows lack of upkeep. On a day I went to use the workout facility, it didn't open until 9, and the 4 pieces of equipment were barely operational. Don't stay, run away!

"Halloween in Santa Cruz"
Zoe F, 02 Novembre 2015

The Best Western All Suites Inn was great. I went to Santa Cruz with my son, his best friend and the best friend's mom. We had an amazing room with 3 sleeping options. The boys got their "own" room and shared a king bed, one of the moms was on the queen bed in another room and the one of us was on the pull out (the least comfortable option). We all had our own spaces and the room was very comfortable for 2 10 year old boys and 2 moms. The jacuzzi was a nice addition to the weekend and fun to soak in. The breakfast was good and just an easy way to start the day. We would stay here again.

"Convenient and clean suite"
lisustain, 20 Octobre 2015

Pro: Friendly staff, good king bed, fridge and micro a plus. Good choice of breakfast, comfortable common area with games, good amount of parking and very convenient. Con: Sofa bed good for child or young teen. Small for most adults and not comfortable.

"Why stay anywhere else?"
Michael M, 18 Octobre 2015

Oh, for so very many reasons. Quite a walk to the beach and the amenities therein; not that's necessarily a bad thing just something to be aware of when booking your next visit. The room however, was something else. The bed was next to the entry door...in all my born days, I've never seen that before. And for good reason, it's very loud when trying to sleep (which was impossible anyway as the bed and pillows were surprisingly uncomfortable) whilst drunken idiots made their way to whatever room they could manage to break into hour after agonizing hour. And if you call room service the door opens so that the attendant is looking directly at whomsoever may be in bed. Now that takes a specially trained idiot to engineer...hat's off to you my friend! And you may be sure that my pen will not sleep in my hand as I resolve here and now to dedicate the remainder of my live to search the world-over for a worse lodging that this Best Western in Santa Cruz, CA. in an effort to prove once and for all that this is the worse lodging on the planet. OK, that may have been a bit over the top...so, bottom line, I wasn't thrilled about the experience. Bye now.

"New remodel"
richardsY3194BD, 17 Octobre 2015

Very pleased with the new remodel that was 99% done when we arrived. Older reviews in Yelp had criticized the cleanliness and outdated carpets and furniture of the rooms but the newer reviews had praised it for its remodel. I found the newer reviews accurate, the rooms were roomy with an area set away from the bed with couch, tables and chairs that we used to entertain our friends that joined us. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

"Good value Hotel"
HelenMSheffield, 15 Octobre 2015

This is a very comfortable and clean hotel which is extremely good value for money. We had a very spacious room with a sitting-room area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast which had plenty of choice. Laundrette for guest use. We found a very good restaurant a few minutes walk away - food was delicious and reasonably priced (The Hindquarter/H & Q). However we didn't like Santa Cruz and it was rather a long way to places of interest..

"Recently Upgraded but missing some details..."
Michael W, 15 Octobre 2015

The entire property gave me the impression that it had just recently been built, until we entered our room and found the plugs barely able to hold a USB phone charger and an HVAC system that looks to have been in the wall since the 80s at least. If not for these missed options for property improvement this review might have been near perfect, however a noisy wall mounted AC certainly doesn't help my suite seem cozy or comfortable...

"Not fantastic but good"
TheDataMan, 14 Octobre 2015

Close to downtown Santa Cruz. My guess is that originally this was a different brand of hotel as you usually do not see Best Westerns that are all suites. Our one bed room had a separate reading area with t h a couch and chair. Pros: nice shower, good size room, normal BW decent breakfast buffet. Cons: bed was too firm, room was noisy from the hallway and outside, a/c system was too loud and difficult to control so we had to leave the window open, coffee was terrible, expensive.

"Santa Cruz"
Sarah B, 14 Octobre 2015

Great stay on the way up the California Coast. The hotel was easy to find and walking distance to restaurants. Check in and check out were a breeze. This was one of the best beds we had on our three week trip.

"On the Road"
David S, 12 Octobre 2015

We stayed in this hotel (1 of 19) during an extended road trip and while there was nothing technically wrong with it, it is an old property in need of repair and modernization. The room was clean but the appointments were old (except for the monster TV). The parking lot had sketchy characters walking in and out which made us worry about the safety of our car.

"Nice weekend trip"
Kwalker5050, 12 Octobre 2015

My friend and I just returned from a weekend wedding for my nephew, and we stayed at the BW in Santa Cruz. The hotel was recently renovated and the rooms were clean and spacious. The check-in staff was very friendly, efficient and helpful. My friend is disabled and we needed assistance with our bags so the front office person paged the hotel maintenance man to help us, which was really appreciated. The breakfast was adequate and convenient. Our only suggestion would be to have a snack machine or a small store where we could have purchased something light. They also didn't have any disabled parking, which we could have used.

"Great Family Get Away"
Lisa G, 09 Octobre 2015

My husband and I spend two nights here...we had to book a hotel at the last minute and got a good deal here considering it included breakfast as well. The hotel could use a little freshening up...the furniture is pretty beaten up, the carpet is like a roller coaster but it is clean. It does appear that they are in the process of renovating. The entrance from the parking garage is pretty gnarly and being your first impression of the place they could probably do a better job. The breakfast offering is similar to most but they do have Tazo tea which is nice. For the price, it was a good deal. The staff was great!

"Not a good experience"
Laura R, 09 Octobre 2015

The fridge in my room was broken, the window was broken and wouldn't lock and it was on the first floor so I felt extremely unsafe, it was next to the kitchen area and was very noisy, pillows smelled like mold and the first two rooms I was given were dirty.

"Good Stay"

Ashley and Maria at reception were exceptional and so was Vance. We were helped changing rooms from the corner to the center of the bldg due to noise from the street/cars. The hotel is located close to restaurants and freeways, though not sure if by walking distance. Breakfast is included though it could be more interesting. Parking is covered and on busy days it could be a challenge to find a spot if you have a big car (we didn't). I didn't particularly like that the first thing I smelled when leaving the room on the 2nd floor was the smell of burnt toast/wafer.... a better ventilation system would greatly help. When on third floor/corner room the a/c was too far away to feel it on the bedroom, on 2nd floor room the A/C blew our ears .... In general this hotel has a great value and with a little effort it could be excellent

"Very Nice Surprise For A BW"
SeaCay62, 03 Octobre 2015

After staying in a dump in Salinas the previous 2 nights, what a pleasant surprise when I checked in here. Room could easily be in a much higher priced hotel. Everything looked updated and clean. Hallway carpets nice a bright. Nothing out of place at all. Check in was smooth, clerk was very pleasant and helpful. Huge spa, no pool. The area is a little off the tourist path, but close enough. Quiet rooms, never heard any traffic, hall noise or adjacent room noise.

"Excellent service. Nice rooms."

Really impressed with the front desk service. Super kind and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and decent sized. Parking is horrific. Get a spot in the basement garage early or you'll have to find a spot on a very dark street behind the property. Despite this, I will definitely return. You really can't get a better deal or a nicer room in Santa Cruz and I am certain that this hotel has the best service in the city.

"we liked this hotel!"

My wife, 2-y/o granddaughter and I stayed at this hotel for a quick get-away. We were very happy with the friendliness and professionalism of the lobby staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable. A little dated, but clean. We will definitely stay here again.

"Great location. Has potential"

This hotel is in a FABULOUS location. The front desk staff could not be more helpful! They really try hard from setting out board games every night to helping you park your car. Management needs to support their staff more: 1). Why are their rolls of carpet and building supplies taking up valuable parking spaces when there are NOT enough spaces to begin with? The poor staff are outside in the lot desperately trying to help customers! 2). If you're going to have a room with balcony and sliding door then it needs a screen. Also a way to lock it open a little so you can get some air without risking safety. A simple Pvc cut to a legs the so that you could put it in the door track 3) when they remodeled rooms they didn't bother to hook up Thermostat properly so if you're sleeping in the living room, you get no air unless you open door...but you can't do that because there's no screen or way to secure it open a little. They did give me a fan that I put in between bedroom and living room so I could get some air 4) shower head is too low (anyone taller than 5'7 has to duck to get under it. Also water flow is just terrible. It's because they put in the cheapest shower heads.
