    « Friendly Staff/Great Pool & Hot Tub »

A bit shabbier than it appears in the official photos (it probably looked like that when it was new). I'd still recommend this place though as it is great for the price. Friendly staff, good service, clean rooms. The outdoor pool has a perfect temperature. I've stayed in much more expensive hotels than this, that don't get the pool temperature right. Next time I'm in San Diego, I'll be back again, just for the pool! Swimming in it at 8pm in November, and it's Heaven. Two excellent hot tubs too. Restaurant is great - tasty food -fast service - great staff.

    « one nite stay »

stayed one nite, room was small for the price, the water in the shower when on would go from hot to cold. told desk clerk when checked out , said the water system is old and when too many people shower in the am, (6:30) that happens. did not tell her that my wife took one at 10:30 pm and same thing happen. sorry will not stay there again.

    « great place »

Truly felt the staff wanted us to be there and made ever accommodation. The restaurant on the property is a great place for any meal. The rooms are small but well decorated and set up. The pool was magnificent, well heated and extremely clean.

    4
    « Location »

For business this hotel has an excellent location to freeways, restaurants and business locations. Except for traffic problems I was able to get to meeting quickly. Hotel personnel should be required to inspect and see that the functionality of everything in a room is working properly. My bathroom door was warped and would not close at all.

    « Cheap but small »

Good Price but hotel is old and rooms are small and outdated. You can hear everything from the rooms next to you. It was a quick cheap place for the night but not somewhere I would stay for long! No free breakfast at this hotel but they have a small restraunt on property No charge for parking since its not downtown

    3
    « Decent »

This hotel is decent for the price and you get free parking and no huge resort fees tacked on. This is my main reason for doing a staycation here versus other hotels who have a lot of additional charges.

« Nice grounds, small rooms »

We thought the grounds of this hotel was very nice and well maintained. The pool and two Jacuzzis were nice and clean. The onsite restaurant seems to have been updated though the food is nothing special. Our room was small and dated. The furniture and interior in general was old. It is in a convenient location to attractions and large mall.

    « Conveniet and Comfortable »

Seven Seas is located in Mission Valley, the center of San Diego. Close to everything. Very large hotel, over 400 rooms. I was told there would be complimentary breakfast when I made reservations. That was not the case; however, there is a restaurant on the premises. Also told at reservations there is a comp barbecue at 4 p.m. It was never mentioned at check-in but I wouldn't have used it anyway. Nice place to stay, overall.

« No hot water and low water pressure »

I stayed here for a girls get-away in October 2016. I took a shower the first evening there and discovered there was no hot water, it was barely warm. The next morning we left a tip along with a note for the housekeeper asking to have someone from maintenance check the water. That evening when we arrived back at the room, we found that the housekeeper took the tip but didn't bother to inform the front desk or maintenance about our request. The housekeeper also took towels, including the ones we'd left on the rack to reuse, and didn't bother to replace all of them which left us short. When we discovered that there was still no hot water we called the front desk and explained there was no hot water. They said the housekeeper didn't inform them of the problem nor was it her job - it was our job to call the front desk directly. Anyway, they agreed to send maintenance. The man sent came and went into the bathroom. He was there for about 10 minutes. When he left he told us it was fixed. However, the next morning there was still no hot water! We again had to take lukewarm showers! So on our way out for the day we stopped at the front desk and explained the entire situation to Michelle. She was nice and tried to help. She told us that the maintenance man had actually reported that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the hot water in the shower. Of course this was a bit upsetting because we'd taken lukewarm showers for two days! Anyway, after haggling and a phone call to her manager, she agreed to send maintenance in the room again and to change our room if they couldn't fix the water. We went out and a had a great day. That evening when we arrived we were greeted by a very rude woman at the front desk (not Michelle). She told us maintenance had not checked on the hot water but that they'd just assigned us to a new room. So of course we had to go pack our belongings and change rooms at this point. Once in the new room in a different building we found that there was plenty of hot water and it even had much better water pressure. We were happy with the room change at this point. The next morning when checking out we again met Michelle. She again was very nice and apologetic. We asked for a discount of some kind because of problems we'd experienced for two days. She called her manager and offered us a 30% discount for the first two days of our stay. It was better than nothing. Overall, the place was fairly clean and quiet but the problems with the hot water and the rudeness of the evening staff dampened our stay. Also, housekeeping isn't consistent when guests stay multiple days and housekeeping obviously doesn't care about their guests otherwise they'd read notes left or at least take them to the front desk instead of just throwing them away. We won't be staying here again despite the helpfulness of Michelle who works the morning shift!

« Best Western Seven Seas very comfortable! »

There are several really nice things about this Best Western: The help at the front desk are FANTASTIC! On the phone and in person: friendly, informative, efficient. Reservations were easy to make and easy to cancel, which thankfully I didn't need to do! The hotel suites are located close to main traffic arteries, but set back from the street with a 'mountain" behind them, so you feel like you're in a private, enclosed area. lots of palm trees, great salt water swimming pool, work-out room right next to the pool and very nice, comfortable rooms. Very nice about letting me check in a bit early and there's a mini-food-mart within walking distance. Great breakfasts at the hotel restaurant too, which is also a very nice place to get some work or reading done. Truly enjoyed my stay here. Only drawback: Some type of cleaning material they use is too harsh and a bit smelly. I aired my room out daily.

« Late Night Hot Tub »

I enjoyed one of the two hot tubs being open late. The cute theme and color coordinated décor inside and outside of the buildings put me into relaxation mode. The diner on site is convenient. I slept comfortably in the bed. It was over all a quite restful environment.

« The best for the price »

Kings Inn was a dump, Travel lodge was worse, with dirty carpets and soiled furniture. Then came Seven Seas, Heavy set receptionist has attitude but other than that the rooms are small but pleasant, and the grounds are beautiful. Restaurant needs help with Chicken Fried Steak gravy, soups were wonderful. Very clean room, HBO SHO inc. I've stayed in them all in Hotel circle and about, Seven seas has it. Only other issue, the cleaning lady complained to me twice she has to much to do, 17 rooms a day, don't know for sure but it's not my business is it?? Seven Seas see you again maybe next time I can get the bigger room I asked for. William Riley

    « Great experience »

Good central location for San Diego area. Easy drive to downtown or beaches Excellent value for those who just want a clean, inexpensive place to sleep. Not for traveler looking for fancy beach or downtown experience. Staff was friendly and the on site cafe had decent selection and pricing

« Good hotel near conference center »

I was attending a conference at the Town and Country and was looking for a place near by, This hotel was a 10 minute walk. It is a little old but the rooms are comfortable and there is a nice jacuzzi and pool. Service was fine. I missed having a breakfast included. There is shopping center near the trolley stop about a 15 minute walk. I took the super shuttle from the airport which cost $12 plus tip.

    4
    « Friendly, comfortable. »

Half the price of the Hilton Resort. Half the size of a room at the resort. Had a fridge in the room, ice and vending machines nearby and free wifi. Beds were fine, and room was clean. I asked for a first floor room and got one. We were missing some towels when we arrived, but they delivered some pronto. The pool and hot tub looked nice, but I didn't get a chance to try them out. I loved their beautiful landscaping! What i liked most was the central location. 10 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes to the stadium, 10 minutes from the beach, and Balboa Park/Zoo. If you are looking for a nice place to just lay your head (albeit small), stay here.

    4
    « good »

Hotel was close to Town and Country where I was attending a meeting, but the price here was much more reasonable. The room was fine, the bed comfortable. There was a nice hot tub and pool. I wish breakfast had been included. I talked to various people who said this was one of the best hotels for the price in the mission valley area.

    4
« Very old, but comfortable »

We were surprised at how small the room was, very outdated, but very CLEAN! The bed we had was very small (full size) for the two of us, but we actually slept very well. The bed/mattress was very comfortable. The rooms got to the perfect temperature, so that helped, and the bathroom was very clean.

    3
    « serves it's purpose »

hotel has a fresh coat of paint since the last visit. pool area nice. great beds. small bathrooms and the faucet puts out just as much water as shower head when shower is on. very friendly staff. restaurant and bar aren't too bad. good location.

    5
    « Reasonable price »

It is an easy walk to the Town and Country. There is a separate restaurant attached that has good food at reasonable prices and the service is quick. There was a mini fridge and micros are available for rent.

    3
« Nice older retro motel »

Smallish room, clean, comfy bed, no cheesy bedspreads, nice pillows, decent bathroom, coffee maker, easy access from car to room, full on restaurant, pool, hot tub. Friendly fast experience front desk check in. Affordable, "clean remote". Will stay here again. Dog friendly too!

  • 3
    « decent for price »

Front staff is not welcoming what so ever! Highly disappointing. The room décor is a little out dated but the rooms are clean, and the bed is very comfortable. Pool was great, heated and salt water (I believe) which was a plus.

    5
    « charming , cosy »

I like the easy access to rooms Although older hotel, they renew the rooms, very clean. Outstanding and friendly staff. Hot tub was wonderful after a full day at the San Diego Zoo. Close to shopping and San Diego's old town district and Balboa Park.

    « get away »

The requests that we made were not made by the hotel. Room by the pool, king bed. I was told that a trolley ran near the hotel and there is none. The bar on Sat night was not very busy although we waited for 15 min. at a table before the bartender (from behind the bar) said we had to get up and order at the bar.

    2
    « The beach »

The stay was poor at best. This was in part due to the fact that the person that I made the reservation with was less than honest with me. I requested first floor by the pool with a king bed. I also inquired about a trolley near the hotel and was assured that there was. On Sat night we went down to the bar for a few and waited for approximately 15 min. for someone to take our drink order. The bartender at that point told us we had to get up and come to the bar to place an order.

    2
    « Worst Best Western »

I generally like Best Westerns because they are clean, reasonably priced, and very consistently good. Not overly fancy, but a good clean place to sleep. This hotel fell far short. There were issues with things in the room not working properly (the staff did repair the non-working light in the bathroom promptly). There were a few bugs in the room. The biggest problem, though, was noise. Weeknights were not so bad but on the weekend, especially Saturday, noise from adjacent rooms was so loud that sleep was impossible. I realize that the hotel doesn't have control over the behavior of its guests, but the rooms seem to have no insulation whatsoever to mitigate the noise. The best thing about this hotel was the very fast WiFi.

    2
« Don't expect service or a smile from these employees »

From the unreliable reservation, to the very delayed check in, the lack of professionalism and unwelcoming attitude of every employee, I would never stay at this hotel again. I believe you have the idea that my experience was less than wonderful. Interestingly, this is my second time staying here but I thought the first time may have been just one of those things. No, both visits were amazingly terrible.

    4
    « Good »

It was clean and orderly. Nothing awry. It was a comfortable stay. Nothing too exceptional but nothing bad at all. If I had to stay here again I would, and I would recommend it to others who are looking for a clean and affordable stay.

    4
    « Pleasant staff/pleasant stay »

Very helpful staff; patient and went out of their way to assist me if I had a problem. Rooms are clean. Great location as it is only a few minutes from the mall if you like to shop. Parking is a little bit of an issue when others take up more than one space and with the construction they have going on. But you can still park your car. Friendly staff, clean room... I look forward to staying again in the future.

« Nice place to stay for under 100 bucks »

Stayed here this week for two nights. Rooms appear to be renewed recently.. Clean and good towels and sheets. Coffee in room. Plenty of parking and it is free. Used the restaurant for one dinner good prices and very nice food. Breakfast had good choice and as coffee goes in the USA very nice. Would stay again

« OK for the night »

We needed a place to stay for the night after flying in. It was late so it was dark coming in I was hesitant at first... but was usually stay best western so we just drove up. The gal at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating so that was helpful. We had to drive to the back of the property and it was not well lit.. so I was not happy so I didn't want to leave any luggage in the car. We very not on the first floor so had to lug our bags up stairs... the room really didn't smell clean.. so luckily we only stayed there a night because of course we took the last room. This one I would not stay again.

    « Just OK... »

The first room I was in was musty and they moved me to another room which was not as musty. This is a great location when visiting San Diego. Close to the freeway you can go to several locations without even going into the freeway. The staff was helpful. I had several issues with the key card not working when I was moved after getting 2 sets of key cards and finally one worked. This place needs some updating. I got a great deal on this hotel but I will not think I would stay here again.

    « Kerri Thompson Dove »

This is the BEST "home away from home" hotel I've had the ultimate pleasure of staying at! Highest point being the staff that makes this place so enjoyable & without a doubt incomparable to any other. From the front desk to the restaurant (Best fish tacos, pizza & cheesecake ever!) to the bartenders & servers in Zak's Bar to the awesome housekeeping & landscaping staff (absolutely beautiful & spot on!) to security & a special shout out to Reuben in PG! A true gem! Anytime I go to San Diego, Best Western Seven Seas is where you will find me! 5 Stars!!!!!

    « Very Nice »

Our stay was very nice. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The grounds were clean and nice with all the green plants. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Also very close to Old Town and out attractions.

« San Diego Comic Con Accommodation »

Stayed for 4 days in July 2016 for San Diego Comic Con. The twin room was quite tight shared between 3 guys (with one sleeping on an inflatable mattress) but was very good value in comparison to other accommodation during Comic Con. Whilst the room was mostly clean, the bathroom was not as clean as preferred and an additional clean was requested and undertaken. The quality of the food in the restaurant was quite poor and advise to pick up some supplies before staying to avoid accessing Whilst the location was quite close to the convenient SDCC shuttle pick up, it was not convenient to anything else at least in walking distance. Being a motor inn it would be expected that you have a car to get around with otherwise it's a case of relying on the plethora of uber drivers in the area. For Comic Con would definitely consider staying here again due to the proximity of the free shuttle, outside of that would try to stay closer to the city centre.

    2
    « Just about passable »

Stayed here for one night. The hotel site I booked this with portrayed this as a hotel, when it turned out to be a motel. The place is very big and we were put at the rear of the building. We could park right outside. The room was dingy and the carpet was dirty. It was also quite noisy. We were also given tiny towels. The pool area and bar were fine. Wifi was strong. It was also well located. Very expensive considering it is amitel. Not what I had expected from Best Western brand.

    3
« Beware, the hotel staff steals your belongings!! »

The hotel was ok, rooms were clean. we stayed there for two days in February. The first day after we left room to our visit to the San Diego town, Housekeeping staff had come to clean the room. They cleaned it really well! so much so that i did not notice that they flicked my brand new Hair straightener. I had bought the new straightner just before the trip and it was good quality one ($100). It was a valentines gift from my husband and i carried it along with its box for this trip! When i check out after my second day, realised at airport that my item was missing. Contacted the Hotel staff for finding and told them how important it was. The hotel manager never bothered to call on their own, i had to follow up couple of times with them and then responded back that they did not find anything in room. I am not sure who and when they flicked it. I clearly remember checking my room that there was no item left behind anywhere before checkout. This means that they stole a day prior. They did not even have courtesy to apologize for missing item from their hotel room! Such a bad attitude from staff and housekeeping practices...would hate to stay there again.. :( :(

« Visiting my daughter and friends. »

I was in a Best Western in Anaheim in July. When I was in San Diego I chose to stay at Best Western again. The room are clean and the beds are comfortable. The serve is 5 stars. I will most definitely stay there again. I also have recommended this hotel to my friends.

    4
« Staff make the difference »

Had a enjoyable stay considering it was business. The outside appearance could use some work but the pool are is maintained nicely. The rooms were perfect for sleeping, I've been in more comfortable beds but they were not half bad.

    3
« It worked for what I needed »

My family and I stayed at this location for San Diego Comic Con (the entire week) this year. I wasn't confident in getting a hotel downtown so I went ahead and booked this one because I like the pictures and it was very affordable. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating and kind, we were into our room almost immediately after we got to the hotel. Our room was tiny by most average hotel standards but seemed clean. The week we were in San Diego was extremely hot (95 degrees almost every day) and the air conditioner had a tough time keeping up, I almost called to complain but knew we couldn't switch rooms or anything because the entire city was booked up for Comic Con. The hotel is definitely old - there are small things I noticed in our room - the shower curtain was so worn it had multiple holes in it, and the ironing board was broken and took some rigging to be able to use. The beds were full sized and were okay. Onto the good stuff: the pool and garden area were very nice. There is a large salt water pool that is very clean, with two separate hot tubs. The gym area is small but had several options and was clean. The garden areas were beautiful and well landscaped. I felt that it was worth putting up with the small room for the nice outdoor areas that my family and I used quite a bit during our stay. From a SDCC standpoint: the nearest shuttle pickup is outside the neighboring hotel, which is a short walk. The shuttles pick up frequently, we didn't wait more than 15 minutes for one but several times they were completely full and we barely made it on, especially during peak times. It took around 15-30 minutes to drive to the Convention Center on the shuttles depending on traffic, etc. If you want an affordable option for SDCC, this hotel is definitely a good one, you aren't really in your room much with everything going on and the outdoor areas are wonderful for relaxing after a long day of comic con.

Beautiful grounds, exceptional staff, excellent restaurant and convenient location with easy access to public transportation. A wonderful hotel experience all around. If the opportunity arises to return to San Diego I will certainly make my reservation at Seven Seas!

« Have a Great Time with Family in Mission Valley »

Best Western Seven Seas is a wonderful place for a family stay in San Diego. The hotel grounds are lovely, the staffers are friendly and helpful. And the location near major freeways makes visiting San Diego attractions very convenient.

« Worked well as somewhat budget option while attending a nearby convention »

We were 4 women in a room with two double beds, in town for 4 days for a convention at the Town & Country, happening just on the other side of the I-8 freeway. I'd say mostly positives for us! The property was obviously being attended to while we there, with gardeners replanting and pruning; the day we were leaving, the exterior building was being washed down. Very nice plantings all about. Cafe, very satisfactory. Free parking very welcome. Our convention was only a 5 or so minute walk away. We were anticipating free breakfast with the reservation (was discussed when reservation was placed) but because we didn't have documentation of that, we weren't able to counter the front desk assertion that we did not have breakfast with the reservation. So be prepared with your paperwork. Just about once a day, 1 or more of us had our room key cards not work, so we had to go to the front desk to have them reset; somewhat tiresome especially because we were housed in the furthest bank of rooms from the office. For the room, yes per other reviews, the a/c is set up such that it's an uneven situation, especially at night when sleeping. We dealt with it. Some sort of problem with shower pipes in the room above, when at 3 and 4 in the morning (!), a loud rattling pipes noise commenced, for a good 10 minutes. We alerted the front desk to the problem in the morning. The noise did not occur the next evening, but it could have been because then there was no one in the room upstairs afterwards during the span of our stay. Sure parking was very tight on the Saturday evening, but it was Saturday night, late; we did eventually find a spot. Frig worked well. Plenty of towels. Room didn't at all seem overly dated. Beds were satisfactory. We indulged in the pool one late afternoon, but it ended up being the same time as what appeared to be a family reunion; so shifted after a little bit to one of the hot tubs. Very nice nonetheless to have a pool and 2 hot tub options on the property. There is also a small gym facility adjacent to the pool. We would stay here again!

    3
    « One night stay »

Don't expect too much. It was cheap, sorta clean, outdated. But okay for a one night layover. Easy check in/out. Location was great with easy access to the highway. Not at a walking distance to any attractions but just a short drive away. Only cons were: The parking lot was tight. There was No free breakfast.

    5
    « nice place »

Wonderful place,,,, everything was great.. Check in was smooth, check out was smooth. Room was clean , staff was great. We went to San Diego to relax and have fun, Hotel Circle is a very nice place to get around the City.

« Good Hotel, Clean, Nice »

It was cheap. It was clean. It was nice. Good restaurants nearby. Seaworld, zoo, and whole lot of beaches no less than 15 min away from hotel. Cafe wasn't too bad either. Jacuzzi was nice as well. Would stay here again.

    4
    « A Warm and Fuzzy Experience »

Staying at this hotel is like visiting good friends - the tone is set by the hospitality staff in their caring and joyful attitudes. This then puts the customers at ease and they in turn, become caring and joyful. Meeting people in the hotel bar was a great experience and we even sang to some of the tunes played on the jukebox. There were several guests who were experiencing a return visit ( more like their fourth and fifth stay) and thus, were very comfortable and outgoing to all around them. The bartender greeted many by name and made sure that everyone was taken care of.

    3
    « Not what I expected »

I had several issues with this hotel. The beds were small and the room was very cramped, I didn't even know there were hotels that used double beds instead of queen beds. The a/c was hidden by one bed and so only half of the room was cool. The TV didn't work. The worst part was after paying for the room when we booked it, my credit card was charged again when we got there and the hold on my card was not released for 3 days. In essence I paid for the room twice before they released the hold. Positive side was the hotel was close to Sea World and you can get a discount when you purchase tickets at the hotel. The Café was great. Very affordable and great service and food.

    4
    « Exciting Hotel! »

There's so much to do when you stay at this hotel. There are a lot of young people in the jacuzzi or in the pool. There's a cafe, there's places to eat. The trolley is down the street, the mall is down the street. There's a boutique to get massages and nails done. I really enjoyed my stay. I arrived home close to midnight and the bed was hella delicious! Oh man. I just laid in bed hoping to watch some cable tv but I fell asleep 4 minutes after I crawled in. Totally recommend.

    3
    « Handicap Room-Poor »

The Handicap room had Mold in the shower. there was NO electrical outlets near the bed. Unable to connect my cpap machine. No handicap parking in front of the room. My room was located at the far side of the property. Not convenient for a handicap room.

    « Wedding Group »

Mission Valley Seven Seas was a very centrally located hotel for our wedding party. They were very attentive to all our needs and did extra things we requested to make our guest feel welcome. They kept in contact with us, and made sure our guest were taken care of!

    « 3 day stay »

This hotel was the only affordable Best Western in the area. The rooms are a bit old and needs upgrade. Beds were okay and the hotel attracts lots of latw night party goers. Parking is free although can get very crowded if you arrive late from your activities. Lighting is alsp minimal so be careful late nights.

« Great location, good price »

We stayed at the Best Western Seven Seas for the MLB All star game weekend. The room rates were very reasonable, and the room was as described. The pool is centrally located, and the hot tub as well. The location for the Best Western is within walking distance (10 minutes) of the trolley to downtown or to head north. We got a 3 day pass for the trolley for $14 and used this to travel all around San Diego. The one thing I learned after the first night was not to set the AC for the unit very low during the day, or else it will not perform well over night. The breakfast burrito at the restaurant attached to the Best Western was very, very good.

Hard to report issues with room when the in-room phone won't call the front desk and there are no instructions on how to do so manually. Room had leaking faucet. I went to lobby to report to front desk and they said they will inform maintenance but during my 4 night stay, that faucet was never fixed. Also, left towels hanging so I can reuse (as stated in their "save water" note card) and the cleaning people still took the towels. At least they gave new ones. For the price I paid for my room, there shouldn't have been any issues...The biggest perk of my stay was the free shuttle to and from the convention center running 24 hours a day. It was very convenient and saved me money. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Everything seemed clean. May consider this hotel again because of that shuttle.

« Nice Hotel for Car »

I liked this hotel for the amenities. The restaurant was good with very attentive staff. The pool area was very nice, with clean warm water and a hot tub. There was also another hot tub, separate from this area which was nice if the pool area was full of children. The room was small, but had all the necessities. It was well maintained. The location is just off the highway, but it did not seem like it, once on the grounds. The location worked well for me and my plans. If I had flown in and not rented a car, it would not have worked at all. It is just down from the Old Town transit station, but this is not walkable.

    « Awesome Hotel »

I was very pleased with this hotel, the room was beautiful, clean and comfortable and as a single woman I felt very safe staying here. I would definitely stay here again if I visit the San Diego area!

« Not worth the money for the product »

No water for nearly a day. When I spoke with the staff they said it was out of their hands. With that in mind I had to speak with the manager who after much conversation finally removed that day from my bill but I had to argue with her in order to get it. At first I was told that they would "gladly" cancel the remainder of my reservation with no penalty and I could go to another hotel. This was at 5 P.M. This was no way to keep a customer happy in my opinion.

« Worst Best Western Ever »

I see the previous 2 reviewers had the same experience I did. I had a reservation starting 7/15/16 for two nights. The desk informed me there was no water due to a burst pipe, but, was assured it would be on soon. There were no showers and no working toilets. By 4 pm, the water had not come back on and I was informed it may be another 4 hours or more. The manager shrugged his shoulders and did nothing to assist me in finding another room or even acknowledging that my weekend getaway was ruined! I asked the supervisor what she was going to do for me; she replied, "There's nothing I can do." Customer service was nonexistant; I ended up driving home the same day I arrived. Finally, the most disgusting aspect of the day was observing housekeeping filling buckets of water from the Jacuzzi to use for cleaning the rooms! Corporate HQ will be receiving a letter from me.

On 07/15/2016, the hotel had no water, subsequently my family of 4 were unable to bath and use the toilet. We, had to go across the freeway to the nearest mall to clean up and use the toilet. The hotel staff were no concern with our well-being.

After a unbelievably awful night at another hotel we came to this hotel. We explained what happened at another hotel. They were able to get a room cleaned and ready for us by 12:30 not msking us wait til 4 to check in. They went above and beyond to accomodate and we certainly appreciated them. Way to go BW Seven Seas your awesome!

« Nice but bad vent system »

A nice no frills stay. I don't think there is wifi internet on site. I wasn't told if there was. There is no complimentary breakfast. There is a restaurant on site, but we didn't try it. Sometimes when we travel, we just want a quick self service breakfast, and not a sit down service place. The room was nice. No frills. Good fridge (mini mart nearby). Good shower. Good beds. Good tv. Small room. Ventilation system didn't work. Felt warm and humid all night. Didn't feel safe enough to open the window for the cool night air. Overall, a nice place to sleep and leave. In San Diego, there are many other options if you are looking for a longer stay.

    « Central Location »

The Seven Seas is a good average hotel located on hotel row in San Diego. It is easily accessible by I-8 and close to the Fashion Valley Mall. From the hotel access by car to all San Diego is easy and close by. We found the location convenient to all we wanted to do. The price is right. The rooms are a little smaller than a usual Best Western room and the doors face the parking lot (not interior doors). It should be noted that breakfast is not included in the room rate but is available in the hotel restaurant.

« Decent standard and value for money »

Hotel is easy to find as it is just off the Interstate. However, it is a little to far from downtown and the attractions but that is reflected in the pricing. We stayed for 4 nights as a San Diego base which was fine. Staff friendly and helpful, room large enough and clean, car parking safe with ample spaces. Bar prices were a expensive for the standard of hotel. Didn't use the pool but looked fine. I would stay here again if visiting San Diego which I suppose is the acid test!

« You get what you pay for... »

Stayed with family who uses a wheelchair - so had a handicap access room. Note that all doors open to the parking lot. Be sure to lock your doors at all times as vendors distributing leaflets actually opened our door while we were in the room! Hotel says they did not endorse the restaurant as the food is not that good. VERY basic room - Two double beds, mini frig, one cup coffee maker, TV that we were unable to figure out how to even get to work...3 remotes on a tube tv. Room was generally clean - and location was good. Lots of hotels on Hotel Circle - this one was the best bargain. Probably would pay a little more next time and stay at a more updated hotel.

« Perfect choice for a last minute getaway! »

We booked our room the day of, and we were so pleasantly surprised once we arrived! Parking was very convenient, the restaurant was delicious, (Thanks Sanad!) and our room was very clean and smelled fresh. We are a family of four, with two teenagers, so it was a bit cramped, but that's our fault for not springing for an adjoining room. :) We look forward to our next stay here.

« Hotels in San Diego »

This hotel has a pool and a restaurant with a nice bar next door. You will like the convenience of access to I-8 and all the nearby attractions. Parking was good and the place is well landscaped so bring your camera for a poolside selfie. The rooms are accessed from outside so no need to walk through the lobby unless you are heading to the adjoining restaurant for breakfast.

« Looks Nice vs. Bugs and Sound »

I was on the bottom level by a stairway. My neighbors/anyone using the stairs were heard clear as day right through my door and wall. Luckily I am a heavy sleeper so I could block it out but my wife who isn't had to stay up longer than desired because we could hear everyone going by or in the room next to us. They weren't being excessively loud or having a party. They were just having regular conversation. Couple that with having to kill at least one ant somewhere in the bathroom each time you go in and that isn't the best. On the plus side, the staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. The overall look of the complex is really nice and they have two hot tubs (though one only had hot water because the jets weren't working). The pool has an eight foot section if you have little ones who love jumping in so you can sit in the hot tub and watch your kids tire themselves out. The pool closes at 10 but the other hot tub is open 24 hours. On a road called Hotel Circle, this isn't a bad choice but I would look for others next time.

    « Friendly Staff »

The facility was clean and well taken care of. Staff was accommodating and friendly, especially housekeeping and the restaurant staff. Location providing quick and easy access to San Diego Old Town, the Zoo and Balboa Park.

    « Nice week »

The hotel is located close to the fountain valley mall where you can catch the trolley to get around town. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the pillows were worse . If you are a preferred guest(member of the military or one of several corporations) the food is wonderful. We had breakfast and dinner there 2 days. Dinner does include well drinks. Ruben makes you feel at home.

    « INFESTED with bugs! »

The hotel is nice, the location is good, and the staff has been nice BUT it is infested with little cockroaches and they are every where! It is disgusting! I would recommend spending a little more money for a hotel that won't have you sleeping and going home with nasty bugs!

    « great location »

This hotel is not a 4 star hotel, but I gave it 4 stars because they treated us so well. We got a nice queen size room with a garden in the front window, no cars parking in front which was great. The room did not smell like a lot of reviews said. The employees were super nice to us. Housekeeping was super good, and took great care of us. Great location! The beds could be a little more comfortable, and yes I would stay there again, and ask for the same room. Super fast wifi. Thank you Sally, and all the housekeeping, and front desk people. Dates of stay May 20-24.

Amazing hotel!! Beautiful, has cafe, bar, pool, patios for rooms if you are a smoker..great price and only 75.00 deposit, not 200 like other hotels for incidentals. Very helpful and friendly staff. This will be my only vacation hotel now on when i come to san diego.

    « Great Stay! »

We have stayed at many Best Westerns and enjoy most of them. This hotel the staff were friendly, rooms were clean and ameneties were great! My children enjoyed the pool and hot tub. They also have a restaurant on site that seems like a good selection. However, we did not eat there as we had family dinner plans. We would definitely come back to stay here.

    4
    « Breakfast time »

The breakfast buffet offered at the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. While the food items were standard fare (pancakes, waffles, dry cereal, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, etc.), the main issue as the fact there was no AC at all. No breeze or hint of wind was felt as there were at least 5-6 families scrambling to get their share of breakfast (6-10AM) before it shut down in order to prepare for lunch. To get in, one must swipe their room key then no air whatsoever after that. Doors are kept closed at all times and no ventilation. While it is 85 degrees outside, it feels like 90 degrees inside as everyone wants to use the waffle maker.

    3
« Not great but not bad. »

only 2 problems really. Noise from other rooms and the smoke alarm going off for no reason. The staff was professional and friendly. Price a little high but it is San Diego. I may or may not stay here again.

    « It was alright! »

Everything was great with my stay, However upon taking our first shower the soap holder fell off the wall. As is it was freshly put on that day, No apologies or anything. I was shocked. But they did come back and replace it and taped a plastic bag over it.

« Waited to long and had reservation »

I called and made reservation 2 weeks in advance and requested a 1st floor room. I got there 15 minutes prior to check in and room was not ready. I waited 45 minutes and gave up and booked with another hotel. This is unacceptable as I'm also a Best Western priority member. I'm sure I will be charged a cancellation fee, but I will fight that, you better believe it!

    3
« Not bad for the price »

The location of this hotel is in a central area in the hotel circle.. Even though the rooms look like the escaped from an 80's movie they are, nonetheless clean. The cafe in this place serves good food for a reasonable price, the burgers were good, the breakfast is not bad at all (despite the slow service) however, most of the staff are friendly.

    « Customer service horrible »

I checked in late from work (approx. 10:30pm) The girl working the front desk (Paula) seemed to have been agitated that she had to come over and help me. As she started to check me in, the phone rang and she answered it and just started talking on it about rooms, pricing etc. and left me standing there. I was tired from a long day working and my late night dinner was getting cold. I finally tried saying something about finishing my check-in and she got off the phone and completed it, again been agitated. When I went to my room, I ate my dinner then decided to take a shower. "COLD WATER". I didn't want to call down to the desk to "bother anyone", so I took a sponge shower to get some sleep and take a hot shower before heading out to the airport. At 4:30am when I went in to take a shower, "COLD WATER"....can't believe it. I had no choice but to try and take a "COLD SHOWER" because I needed to catch my flight. When I went to the desk, I told the young woman (couldn't remember her name) about the cold water and she said "I will let maintenance know when they come in" and walked away. This is my 6th time I have stayed here on business projects and my last. I will not be treated like this from anyone. I have alerted my company about this and hopefully they will not book here again.

« Decent during my business stay »

I was staying in the 300 row of the premises for a business trip. The hotel is big with several rows of rooms. The whole 3-day stay was quiet and I encountered no major problems. The room is small and old, but good enough for one person. Front desk staff was helpful. Very easy access to freeways but did not hear any freeway noise. AC is loud. Screens in the windows were loose but not many bugs flew in. Wish there is a security mechanism or some sort of bar to prevent the window from being pushed open all the way (prevent intruders). Since the AC is loud and not necessary on a cool night, it will be nice to be able to leave the window open a few inches while sleeping.

Carpet had a very damp feel, almost as if recently shampooed near the TV and the room was a tad small but we were extremely satisfied with our experience and will definately be back. Pool was the best part of stay, it was a pleasent surprise that it was warm on a cold night. Very refreshing. Thank you for the amazing service, front desk staff were wonderful.

    « TOO MUCH SMOKING »

smoking is still terrible problem and tolerated by management. each morning starting - as early ast 6am - you are awakened by second hand smoke. everybody gets told there's no smoking in/outside the rooms but everywhere you look... there are convenient ashtrays filled to the brim outside of every room. and no signs. i witnessed renters changed over the 3week stay and neither of them obeyed any advise to not smoke outside their rooms. i dont have an issue with people smoking but when someone is smoking outside of there room and their second hand smoke is being sucked into my room by the ac fan theyre insensitive about it. it makes for terrible headaches. worst yet is the midnight smoker.. you know... the one who has to smoke outside of their room before they go to bed...my clothes and my blankets on my bed are drenched in tobacco and makes for restless nights. i like this hotel for the amenities... and have stayed at this hotel many many times over the last 15years but my last stay was the worst.

    3
« High value, good location »

Cannot beat the cost of this hotel, especially given the locale. Very convenient to San Diego airport and down town area. Nice pool and had a nice restaurant on site. The room was what I would describe as average - heavy use of perfumy rug freshener stuff that was pervasive in the room.

« Nice but don't expect WIFI or breakfast »

We stayed here a few days this past week. The rooms are okay, on the small side but overall clean with nice beds. The property is pretty large and we had a room that would be considered in the middle section so not too far from the office and pool area. With that said, wifi access on my iPhone was non-existent, it couldn't even see the network to connect so it was cellular the entire time :/ I can't imagine staying in the back section of the property so if you need good wifi, this is not the hotel for you. We called the front desk but they seemed to have no clue. The only other thing about this property that I didn't like was that there is no breakfast, no coffee (except in room) unless you pay at their very overpriced little cafe. If you're like me, I usually go with Best Western because they offer a morning breakfast which is just great when you're on the go! Anywhoo, I would stay here again if the price was right and it was the only option but otherwise the above mentioned issues are deal breakers for me!

    2
    « Disappointed »

I always have great experiences at Best Westerns but this one could use some updating, there is no complimentary breakfast (never seen that before at a Best Western), the staff was not helpful and kind of cranky.

    « Amazing Customer Service »

I didn't actually stay at the hotel- however... I had booked a room on a travel website. I didn't realize until the last minute that I had booked the room for the wrong night. I missed the reservation and my card was charged. I called the hotel directly and spoke to Steve, the operations manager. I explained my problem and he was able to issue me a full refund since the hotel was not fully booked on the night that I had reserved the room. I'm super pleased that he went above and beyond to help me out. I'll definitely book there again for a future stay.

Location was great, easy access to I8, SeaWorld, Beaches, minutes to airport, and Old Town. pool was beautiful. there were just 2 of us, and the rooms are small, but if you just need a bed, then it works. Just don't plan on eating, or relaxing in the room. rooms are dated and need to be upgraded. overall, It worked for us, and we would stay again.

« Hard time finding email contacts for hotel customer service?? »

We stayed 3 nights May 12-15th, 2016. No window in bathroom, fan and light switch all in one. The fan was so loud, we didn't want to turn on the light. Black mould was around the top of the ceilings and on the Bathroom tile grout area. I have a sensitivity to mould and Made an extra trip to the pharmacy for medication. Not what I expected from a 3 star.

    « Very nice motel! »

Of course, it's one of those motels in Hotel Circle... Not in downtown, not at the beach or at SeaWorld or at the Zoo... but a few minutes from all these attractions and also close to Fashion Valley Mall & Old Town, etc. I picked it to find an affordable but comfortable place to spend 10 nights and it was a right choice. The pool is very nice. A special mention to the waiters at the restaurant, very friendly.

    « Finicky Travel Agent »

The front desk supervisor Sally , came to the rescue, we were offered a room that didn't meet with our expectations, she was able to listen to what we wanted in way of a room and delivered a room location that was perfect. Thank you for all of the staff who were warm, friendly and helpful during our stay. Everyone was professional and so helpful. This was a birthday trip for my elderly little Mom, and I knew that Best Western was a good bet for price, quality of service and clean, comfortable beds and room. This was our first stay at this property, we will be back. Thank you Finicky Travel Agent

« Very nice accommodations good value »

We booked a room at this hotel for several days. The staff is very pleasant. The room was clean, free of strong odors and comfortable. We used the workout room but found that the treadmill was out of order during our entire visit and the air conditioner was not working properly so even with the door open the room was hot and air stagnant. Although the cardio machines were equipped with tv screens they did not work which was disappointing. Other than the disappointment in the workout room the rest of the the amenities were lovely. The landscaping is exceptionally beautiful.

    5
    « Quiet and Clean »

I like this place because in the middle of all the noise and bustle, it is quiet, almost as if it were removed from the crowded hotel circle area. The restaurant is surprisingly good, love the restaurant patio area too, when the weather is fine, which is most of the time in San Diego.

    4
« Clean, comfortable and affordable »

Pros: great location convenient to Mission beach, clean rooms, great landscaping, great bar and front desk staff had a room prepared for early check-in when I called ahead Cons: room was somewhat dated and I wanted the free breakfast Best Western was known for Overall this was a great value and I would stay here again .

    « Fun Trip »

A quick Mother's Day / Birthday Trip to San Diego Zoo for me and my wife made comfortable by the 2 nights at Best Western Seven Seas. The room was quite small but very comfortable. The restaurant was sort of like an old-fashioned diner with an attentive and friendly staff and excellent food.

    3
« Location and WIFI were great! »

Free parking, Free Wifi. Relative to other similar hotels of this calibre the price was approximately double that of what we were used to be paying. Location wise it was about 10-15 minutes to most sights in the San Diego area. Although rated as a 3 star it felt closer to a 2 star or a Motel in decor and room condition.

    4
    « Great location »

This hotel is conveniently located in Mission Valley right off of interstate 8. There is a restaurant and bar located on property. It is 100% smoke free. The room I stayed in was small with only a refrigerator no microwave. It was fine for the one night I stayed there. They have a nice pool area

    3
« Close to everything but watch the room type you rent »

The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is a hit or miss. Upon arrival, the room was very small, crowded, outdated & uncomfortable. Not what you would expect from a BW Plus hotel. We unpacked most of our stuff and went for dinner, only to come back to discover the bathroom had not been cleaned and there was urine and pubic hairs on the floor. I was extremely grossed out and could not use the bathroom. The TV box was also missing so we could not use the TV. I contacted the front desk girl and she was able to switch us to a different (and bigger) room that had been renovated, and was clean so that was a huge relief. She was able to do this even though it was close to midnight. The TV box was stolen from the new room as well (these must be popular in the USA...lol), but the great maintenance man was able to get one from another room and install it the next day for us. The hotel itself was very close to lots of activities, so the location is good, but if you want a nicer room, go with 2 queens or a king.

    3
« Quality depends on your room »

We had 3 rooms reserved here. I had requested one King bed and of course when I checked in they gave me what looked to be smaller than a queen but bigger than a double?!?! My bathroom was outdated. The bathtub was all scratched up rusted and there were hairs still in the tub when we checked in. Gross! The AC didn't seem to work very well but it wasn't hot out so we made due. The room next to us where my family was staying seemed to have been renovated. New bathtub or fresh caulking. No rusty scratches and newer AC unit. We also reserved 2 queen beds in this room and they gave us 2 doubles. This hotel is fairly large with plenty of free parking and our rooms were in the 3 building in the back of the hotel so I'm not sure if that made a difference. There were no microwaves available in you room but there is a mini fridge. I had to warm up my infant sons milk and the housekeeping did bring me up a microwave which I thought was very nice. There USA Cafe/Diner onsite which had pretty good food. Other than that I probably won't stay here again.

« Lots of possibilities but underwhelming »

My wife and I spent 5 nights prior to going on a cruise. We thought we would use the location as home base to do some touring in the San Diego area. This appears to be a 70's style location that could benefit from some additional TLC. While the concept is good(vegetation and private feeling walkways making you feel like you should be in the South Pacific). The delivery is lacking. We had a king room at the end of one of the buildings. The room was a nice size but whatever renovation had been done was not completed. The old doors, including the outside door was left on. The second floor walkways and the stairs could use some work also. One thing people should know is that buildings are two story and there are no elevator. This makes it quite a chore if you have heavy luggage and aren't fit. There is no complimentary breakfast like with many other Best Westerns. This is a disappointment when you are paying over $140/night on average. The restaurant on site is nothing to write home about. We had breakfast there one morning but went off site the remaining time we were there.

    4
« Close to Seaworld and Zoo »

This hotel is on beautiful, park-like grounds. The location is great, close to Sea World and San Diego Zoo. Overall the hotel was good, the rooms were a bit outdated but the pool area was very nice. While we were there the parking lots were being paved. We were not told about this at check-in: only finding it out when we arrived back after a day at the parks to find the parking lot blocked off and we could not enter or park anywhere even close to our room. Since we were there for a week, it would have been nice to have been told this beforehand. The paving crew was extremely loud, talking, yelling and smoking right outside our room and they started early! Again it would have been nice to know about this in advance. The pool area/hot tubs were nice after longs days at the parks.

« Great Bed for the Price »

Spent the weekend in San Diego for Padres & Cardinals game. One of the best nights sleep. Both bed & pillows were great. Room had delightful tropical décor & was very clean. A few things to mention, this is an older hotel without elevators & AC is noisy (Box under the window). But, this is typical for hotels on Hotel Circle. I've stayed in about 5 of them over the years. This was the best of them so far & plenty of parking. Which is nice when you get in late. Next time I'll ask for a ground floor room.

    5
    « Wonderful experience »

We stayed at the Best Western to visit family and celebrate our anniversary. Room was clean and personnel were very pleasant. Food and service at the restaurant was consistently good and oversized portions. Convenient location and very centralized. Would recommend this place to stay.

    3
« Our San Diego Experience »

Most Best Western properties provide complimentary breakfast with their stay. This hotel did not do that...nor offer a discount for hotel guests in their café. The bathroom was dated...no safety bars in the shower, low toilets. The towels were soft, however. For the price we paid per night ($150), we felt it was a poor bargain.

    1
« Not worth the money »

This hotel is old and run down, not the quality of other Best Westerns. The rooms and entire hotel are in need of cleaning and upgrading. The photos do not truly represent the property, they make it look much better than it really is. The location is not very good, on a busy road right off the freeway. Paying a little more at another hotel would be worth your money. Several other hotels on the same road were set farther back on the properties which would make it quieter. There also seemed to be undesirable people hanging around the area, which made me question the safety of myself and my possessions.

    4
« Nice Room Good Service »

this was a nice place close to a conference I attended that was $45 a night cheaper than the conference hotel. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The décor was a bit dated, but not in bad shape. My only complaint was that I had to go to another building to get ice. I would stay here again.

    4
« Great Price, Friendly Service »

I was looking for a place just to relax for a couple of days but didnt want to spend too much money. I found the hotel on Hotels.com app and chose it based on price. In my experience, Best Western usually has decent rooms and comfortable beds. so I decided to book online after browsing through the photos and reviews. Once I arrived to check in i asked about booking an additional night and it was actually $10 cheaper under the "manager's special". (Hotels.com charges a fee for use of their service). The woman behind the counter was very courteous and pleasant and even asked if I preferred first or second floor room. The hotel was obviously dated, but the layout is very pleasant, surrounded by lots of trees. Most all of the hotels in the Hotel Circle area are dated, so I didn't expect otherwise. The room itself was dated in regards to decor and furniture but it was clean and the amenties all worked except for the bathtub did not hold water very well at all. The shower was hot and powerful though:) The area around the hotel is the ideal place to be if you are visiting San Diego. It's close to all major highways that you would want to quickly get you to the beaches, Sea World, and shopping. Fashion Valley and Mission Valley Malls are located right down the street. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a decent place to rest and relax whether you are exploring San Diego, or just need a good night's rest.

« Hidden gem in San Diego »

For some reason the hotel address did not come up on our GPS system but it was easy to find since it was on Hotel Circle. The location was beautiful with the lush landscaping and hills behind the hotel. Staff was very pleasant, restaurant food was excellent. Rooms were a little outdated but very clean and comfortable. Even though the hotel is located right next to the freeway we did not hear any freeway noise in our room. We will definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

We where checking in under a friends and family rate and could not understand why the friends and family rate was more expensive then the actual rate if i would have booked it that same day. When asking the clerk she clearly did not understand what we where talking about and when asking to speak to a manager the manager was of NO HELP WHAT SO EVER. The lack of costumer service is astonishing. I cant believe they made us pay more and could do nothing to help not even offer a decent explanation. That isn't even the worse part. Upon entering our room we also encountered a used condom near the bed which for the life of me i could not understand how that could have went unnoticed. I really would have loved to have said wonderful things about my stay but this was by far the worst stay at any hotel i have stayed at.

« Small but perfectly formed rooms »

This hotel is extremely handy for the airport. I have never understood the Best Western policy of having the sink outside of the main bathroom and this does take getting used to. The room was small by comparison to the others we stayed in on our road trip. The bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds are beautifully maintained and really lovely to walk through. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to try out the pool or hot tub. The weird bubbles in the hot tub (it looked like someone had poured soap into it) did put me off using it. As there is a restaurant on site breakfast is not included. They have an extensive menu and the breakfast we had was perfectly adequate and a great start to the day. If you are only using this motel as a quick stop off before heading on somewhere else then I do recommend it.

    « GREAT PLACE »

I was worried because the price seemed low compared to other hotels in the area, but I took a chance because it looked great. IT WAS! Fun friendly bar, beautiful grounds, good food at restaurant, perfectly heated pool, plenty of parking, convenient location. Had forgotten I'd stayed here before, and the place was great the first time too. Will definitely stay again when I am in the area.

« Average rooms, beautiful grounds »

The rooms were as expected from a Best Western. Nothing special, but very clean. The grounds were very well kept and had beautiful plants that it felt very tropical. Parking was near the room so very convienient, but like a motel experience where the cars are all pulled up in front of the room doors. We enjoyed our visit.

    4
« Great Location and Landscaping »

I booked this hotel for the weekend after my daughter's wedding and I was very pleased with everything thing. The hotel was clean, and the service was good. Everyone one was friendly and helpful. The landscaping is very nice - tropical feeling.

« Perfect for the price! »

One of the nicest motels I've stayed in. A great place to stay for the price you pay. Our room was the perfect size for my family, it was very clean and well-kept. TV worked well, Internet worked well, air con worked well. The pool was nice and clean. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel and it was reasonably priced and what I'd expect from a motel cafe - no real complaints. The thing that struck me most was how well-kept the grounds are. There are loads of plants and trees and they are very well looked after and lots of care obviously goes in to it. It obviously has the tell-tale signs of a motel, thin walls, next to a freeway but we stayed 4 nights and were more than happy (although it did get noticeably rowdier on Friday night but not bad enough to wake up my 2 year old) All in all, a great place for the price!

    5
    « Value for money »

Great hotel/motel, well located, good service and facilities. It could be difficult to get to the main San Diego attractions if you don't have a car. Facilities include pool, spa, bar and restaurant and all are well staffed.

    2
    « Not the best »

Arrived around 9 in the evening and after getting something to eat in the cafe went to our room around 10. Were tired and was looking forward to a hot shower and going to bed. We we walked into the room it had a musty odor. but because it was late and we were tired decided it wasn't that bad, However, the shower was a different story. The water could not be regulated. It would go from freezing cold to scalding hot, then back to freezing cold had to stand under the had to wait for the water to run it's cycle to stand under. The tub was ok.

    4
    « Great location »

It's easy to get to nearby attractions such as Old Town, the zoo, Balboa Park Museums, and downtown from this hotel. Room rates were favorable, and the beds were comfortable. It's not fancy, but it does the job.

    5
    « Clean, comfy, classy! »

We stayed here while visiting relatives in San Diego. Nice comfy room, firm bed, clean, well maintained, nice smenities. Very nice restaurant and a great salt water pool. Close to Old Town San Diego and the beaches. A bit pricy for what we are used to, but we'll worth the price. Close to I-8 and 163 with easy access. Definitely will recommend to visitors to the area.

    4
« Convenient location to our event »

We stayed at this location to attend a conference. The hotel is easy access to the highway, has free parking and breakfast. The pool is nice, but was crowded during our stay, so we didn't use it. There is a private hot tub for adults on the property. We had to change rooms due to a leaky refrigerator that cause the room to smell like mildew. I had a lot of problems getting a wifi signal when I was there, but overall the bed was in good shape, the room, while dated in décor was clean and the grounds were well maintained.

« Good service, beautiful weather, reliable safe hotel »

Loved the bar and hot tubs. Nice place for families and out-of-staters to mix and mingle. Beds were plenty comfy and everything was clean and tidy. The staff was very friendly and helpful at every turn. Even though it was spring break in San Diego, this was a safe and quiet respite for my conference and training.

    4
« Clean Room Good Location »

The hotel is in a good location with easy access but there is also some noise as you are by a freeway. The room was basic, small but clean, the nearest ice machine didn't work but that was not an issue as there where several other machines.

    4
    « Old But Clean »

We recently stayed for 5 nights. Our room was small but clean. They need to do some updating to the bathroom outlets...when we plugged in the blow dryer, it fell back out as the outlets are so old and worn. The faucets in the tub needed to be updated and sealed properly and the bathroom sink drain was smelly. There is no microwave. The pool area and courtyard is lush and immaculate. The bed was super comfy. The air conditioner was quite noisy when running as was the bathroom fan, that went on when you turned on the light.

    3
« Great for just sleeping! »

I stayed at Best Western Seven Seas for 4 nights over spring break. The hotel is nice, but nothing special. Included: -Beds (they are quite small.....maybe a full size) -Small refrigerator (great for cold drinks and a few treats) -One serving coffee maker with the yucky hotel coffee (more like warm brown water) -Swimming pool and two hot tubs (this is the bat part of the hotel) The plumbing at this hotel was super loud! You could hear if someone upstairs flushed the toilet and if they were taking a shower (it sounded like you were in the bathroom). You also wouldn't want to flush the toilet at night unless you want to wake everyone up from The noise! There is a restaurant on site, but the coffee is horrible and the food is super pricey (not sure on the taste since we didn't eat there). The location is centralized and easy to get to off of I-5, but not a place I would probably go back to. There are a lot of hotels in the area, so some research into those would be a good use of your time!

    3
« Excels at being average »

To be fair, we checked in at 10 PM and just needed a place to sleep, so we didn't check out the various amenities. As others have noticed, this is a Best Western that does not include breakfast in your stay. Another oddity is that there was a deposit charged to our account for $75 to cover any extras, which was taken off at the end of the stay at check out. The room was average. The bed was average. Be careful where you park your car because there were drips from the trees on the car than required orange oil to remove. There are better choices.

    3
    « Average »

The hotel was clean, housekeeping was great. I had no microwave, the food in the restaraunt is over priced and mediocre. The hot tub and pool are awesome. There were no hidden fees, and it is centrally located to main San Diego attractions.

    3
« Comfort in the heart of mission valley. »

Nothing particularly outstanding but, it is a Best Western and therefore practically guaranteed to be clean and comfortable. The pool, restaurant, and bar are very nice. With easy access to shopping (Fashion Valley Mall), Old Town San Diego, Qualcom Stadium, San Diego Zoo and surrounding park, Sea world, and other places of interest it is a good place to stay.

    2
« My experience at this hotel »

I have stayed in many Best Western hotels in the last several years and I have received outstanding service from the staff. This is the only Best Western hotel I have seen that did not serve breakfast. I spent $216 for the stay, I am a platinum member, and they would not even give me a King sized bed for the price and instead assigned me to a disabled room, which I refused to take. When I was about to leave, the manager decided to reverse the decision of the front desk clerk and put me in a king bedroom. No breakfast of any sort was offered. There wasn't even a microwave in the room.

« Best Deal is San Diego! »

We've stayed here before and knew this was a very convenient hotel. We also booked 2 months early on hotels.com and got an incredible deal! It's just off I-8 so it's an easy jaunt to the beaches. And get East on the 8 and you can take the 163 downtown or to Balboa Park. It's a snap! The hotel itself is nothing special but the rooms are clean and well kept. The TVs are nice flatscreens, too. The pool is clean and warm - an excellent swim! There are 2 hot tubs - one for adults only. And there are exercise facilities, as well. The restaurant is a disappointment - nothing is provided, not even a roll and fruit. The food is food but expensive. There is a bar and happy hour but we didn't find the beer to be enticing. Still and all, we love the location, the landscaping and the price so we'll go back!

    5
    « Very good »

I stay here every time I visit family in San Diego. Its central location is great because the easy access to the highways and malls. Plus the hotel is always clean and the staff are great. I will always be staying here.

« Landscaping is beautiful BUT.... »

We loved the landscaping, if only there were beds outside! The whole outer appearance of the building was out dated, looked a bit run down to me. So from the time we pulled up there, I PRAYED that the rooms looked like the best western in Hemet CA. That prayer was not answered! The sheets looked clean but you do not get a comforter. I called and asked about it and she said no, but there's a blanket UNDER THE SHEET!! The bathroom was old, shower curtain rod raggedy and hanging, the bathroom gave me that uncomfortable feeling. The food looked drab and old and in need of a carpet cleaner. The doors didn't work properly, they were dirty, walls dirty, I didn't want to touch anything without sanitizer!! The fridge didn't work, the microwave was brought up to us and was filthy dirty!! The room smelled stale and of smoke yet they say no smoking!! Smh the customer service was not the best either and I DID NOT FEEL LIKE A DIAMOND ELITE REWARDS MEMBER!!!! This was the worst best western room I have stayed in! The one star was for the landscaping only!

    4
    « Surprisingly excellent restaurant - don't miss it! »

The Seven Seas' restaurant is an amazing surprise - delicious food prepared beautifully for an affordable price. You could pay double for the quality - but the chef here is great and the food is wonderful. In addition, the wait staff is courteous and very pleasing. Schedule it because it's convenient - enjoy it because it's great!

    4
« Great value but not shiny new »

Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Property is somewhat dated in appearance but clean and comfortable. Friends complained of noisy neighbors but we heard nothing from adjoining or above. We will stay here again if in the area.

    « If You're Looking For a Room From the 80's »

If you are looking for a hotel with completely dated furniture and decor, you have come to the RIGHT spot. The only thing new in the room was the TV. The sheets were paper thin and rough, the door frame was not snug, so we felt were going to get stabbed or robbed. But it was great for the solicitors that were constantly sliding papers through the open doorframe space. There was a chair in the room with a missing arm cover, so staples were exposed. Oh, and if you like garbage cans without liners, you are in for a treat! This place needs to be updated BAD. Not worth the money we spent on it.

    4
« "Close to freeway, parking included" »

First trip to San Diego, would stay here again. More of a motel than hotel, but our room was clean and the bed was very comfy. Tea/ coffee and toiletries included. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board, fridge, good free wifi and many tv stations. Cleaned very well each day. Didn't try the food or the pool. It's about 10 mins to the Old Town by car. It is on the "Hotel Circle" as the location suggests there are many hotels/ motels around. I noticed there is a bus stop outside the hotel, as we had a car I do not know the details.

    4
    « Affordable Comfort »

If you are looking for luxuries this may not suit your taste, but if you are seeking affordability, comfort, and conveniency you won't be disappointed. I only wish they had another breakfast option ,but the restaurant was very nice.

    4
« Good when in Mission Valley area »

I've been for a week in the Best Western Seven Seas hotel at San Diego Mission Valley area and I was pleased with this hosting. The hotel is well located and it is a good option when attending conferences at the Town & Country Conference Center due to proximity and good cost-benefit ratio. The rooms are convenient in terms of space and confort - specially the confortable bed/mattress. My room was equiped with mini refrigerator, work desk, TV (with more than 100 channels available), iron/ironing table, hair dryer, a hot tube in bathroom and good towels. There is a restaurant next to the front desk serving as breakfast as well as lunch and dinner with reasonable cost. The swimming pool is large and the area surrounding it is relatively wide. Parking lot is complimentary, as well as the wifi throughout the hotel and rooms. The room service also worked well. Good option at a convenient cost.

    5
« Good place to stay »

Very nice room, comfortable bed with good HD TV. Nice amenities and also good if you have children with you. Rooms are quiet and well maintained. It is right off the interstate and short drive to almost everything you could be looking for in San Diego.

    4
    « Location Location »

We stayed two nights. Great location close to major roads. Came to San Diego to see the sites and it is close to Balboa Park, Old Town and the shore area with the USS Midway. The grounds are beautiful in a park like setting. Our room was in the back very close to the freeway but did not hear any traffic noise. The room was clean and the bed was fine. The bathroom door stuck a little bit when opening it but it was not a big deal.

    3
« Great Hotel, Terrible Beds »

Chose this place because it was close to everything. Love the location and the staff was wonderful. The food in the cafe was great as well. It's a beautiful property and the landscape is wonderful and tropical. We really enjoyed our stay. My only complaint is that the bed in our room was the worst thing I have EVER slept on, and the room itself is WAYYYYYYY outdated and the walls are very thin. But over all I would probably stay there again. Hopefully in a more comfortable bed.

  • 3
    « So, so hotel. »

Let's start wth the positives. The location is good, easy to get anywhere. The price was good. The front desk was quick and professional, not super friendly, but professional. That's about it for positives. The hotel is extremely dated. The beds are tiny and uncomfortable. The room is in disrepair, broken lights, rusty doorways, loose outlets. We found a nasty bug in the closet. The towels are tiny and thin. I read that they recently updated their restaurant, with all the wonderful restaurant choices in this city, I think I'd worry more about the hotel and less about trying to compete with other restaurants.

    4
« Best Western, Seven Seas »

Hotel has been there for me for 20 years. Not elegant, but more home style. People are nice, hotel is clean. Will stay there again. Location is Hotel Circle, not far from Old Town. Zack's pub is worth a stop.

    « Nice hotel! »

My friend and I have stayed here twice on two different trips to the San Diego area. It is close to downtown San Diego and Ocean Beach which is important to me. We eat over in Ocean Beach but see theatre shows in San Diego. They did not have any 2 Queen bed rooms available upon check in this past visit but upgraded us for free to a King size bed which worked out perfectly. The rooms are dark (can make them dark for sleeping), clean and no bed bugs as I check before bringing in my luggage. I always wish we could stay more than one night as it's my number one choice of a place to stay in the San Diego area. Some hotels charge you for parking which I just dislike. I did my research before staying here the first time and it paid off. We had a horrible experience up in Vista and did not want a repeat of another crappy hotel. Next trip down to San Diego for another theatre show we will be staying here again. Can't recommend this place enough! It's easy freeway access off/on the 8 along hotel row.

    3
    « Vacation Stay »

This hotel is in a good location for visiting local attractions. The rooms were average, no microwave, but did have a coffee maker and refrigerator (you have to turn the refrigerator on). There is a restaurant on site that offers some interesting items like apple fritter french toast. But breakfast (no discount either) is not included with room rate.

« Great stay for a great price!!! »

We stayed here for 3 nights. I called early the day of check in and asked for two rooms that would be close to each other. They put me on hold and then came back and told me they gave me joining rooms. It was perfect for us...we had 6 in our party and it was very convenient. We went to the pool one night and used our room towels. We went to the front desk and asked for some more towels for the morning. By the time I left the front desk and back to our room the towels were already there!!! Great room service!! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Great customer service!! Also the landscaping is beautiful!! It's very plush and exotic looking. Very reasonable price but the grounds look like a resort. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel and will definitely come back.

« Best Western Seven Seas is the place to stay in San Diego »

While I only stayed for one night, everyone and everything was absolutely excellent. The room was very nice, totally upgraded, and very comfortable. The entire facility was well maintained, along with the pool area and fitness center. I ate in their cafe before I left and the food was great and the prices were reasonable. If I have to go to San Diego, I plan on staying there again.

    3
    « Small rooms »

Two-story motel near Pacific Highway. Good location not too far from downtown San Diego and the airport, but rooms were some of the smallest I've been in in the USA. Air conditioner was loud. Not exactly modern amenities, very much a 70s/80s theme other than the TV. Onsite pool, hot tubs and fitness facilities were in good condition. Wifi worked great.

    5
« could have stayed longer »

This hotel is convenient on hotel row. It is large with a restaurant available although the main restaurant is being redone. The food was good. The room was very nice and comfortable. We were back away from the main road so it was quiet. We really enjoyed the landscaped grounds and the pool. The exercise only had 4 cardio machines but it was nice having access to them.

    4
« Business Stay in San Diego at half the price »

I attend a conference once a year in San Diego and like to keep my costs down. I find that adding 10 minutes to my commute to the Convention center and paying half the price for a hotel room makes perfect sense.

    5
« Stay in San Diego »

For a one-night stay in San Diego, the Best Western was the place to be. For the price - What a value. Nice clean room and excellent not fancy restaurant with good food and great service. The location was just ten minutes from the Harbor area where my conference was held. Conference was at the Hyatt that was $100/night more.

    « Old, outdated »

Stayed here for Valentine's Day, requested a nice room with one bed, although not guaranteed through 3rd party internet booking, felt as if I wouldn't be accommodated, even though I'm a Best Western member - small rooms, many overlook depressing storage, maintenance area in back rooms area -- had to look at the inside of our rust, filled door (on the inside) - also depressing - Oh well, you get what you pay for

    5
« Nice place and very affordable »

We stay here everytime we're in town for the Supercross and it's a really nice place to stay! The room is really clean and the beds are really comfortable. We'll definitely continue staying here when in town.

    « Comfortable, convenient, affordable. »

Clean quiet room. Lovely swimming pool and spa. Rooms nicely appointed with Gauginesque art. Room was small but perfectly adequate. The pool area is clean and comfortable. I really can't think of more to say.

    3
« Not as it once was »

This hotel is not as it once was when I started visiting it. The staff is still friendly and professional, however it stops there. The rooms are out dated. The internet is intermittent they only provide wireless service. The water pressure is low and it only ever reached luke warm. At one point it turned ice cold on me. Unfortunately, I will find it hard pressed to go back.

« Worst Hotel Experience of my Life. »

My family literally had no working shower OR bath the entire duration of our stay. We had our two special needs sons with us who had to climb stairs to our room and couldn't be bathed at the end of the day. The staff was horrendous and someone still didn't manage to fix the issue with our shower/bath. Staff members were smoking near rooms and in the parking lot, and when asked to relocate away from my car because my five year old son has Bronchopulmonary Displasia, they literally ignored me and continued smoking their cigarettes! I will NEVER stay at a Best Western again. The complete lack of consideration for our situation, as well as the lack of respect for our two special needs sons was disgraceful.

    4
    « Good Stay »

This was a second stay. Stayed here for business and close to office. Price is reasonable for hotel. Room was nice and clean and staff was friendly and courteous. Didn't get a chance to check out breakfast, had to leave early. Overall. Satisfied.

    5
« It Looks Like Hawaii »

Ok, I know it's San Diego, Hotel Circle, but this hotel makes you feel like you're on an island somewhere far away. The landscaping is lush and almost tropical. It's far larger than it looks from the street. The rooms are a bit small, but they're still confortable with all the amenities except microwave...but I didn't miss that. And I can't wait to come back.

    4
    « Great Location »

This hotel is pretty amazing. Small rooms, however super helpful staff, and great pool. The location is amazing. I booked it as I thought it was far out and less $$, however took minutes to get everywhere for food, shopping, old town attractions and so much more. Skip the Seven Seas Café....worst food ever eaten. But beside that there are so many food options around this area.

    5
« Seven Seas is the way to go! »

As a business traveler, any time I come to San Diego I make it a point to stay here. Their Preferred Guest program is amazing. These folks know how to take care of you. Wouldn't stay anywhere else. Conveniently located near the Naval/Marine bases, the airport, and numerous other attractions.

    4
« Clean and comfortable room at a great price »

Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. It was handy having a laundrette on site, though it was pretty expensive. I would've given this place top rating, though I've knocked one off because we were very disappointed with the vending machines. I bought a candy bar and it was inedible. The vending machines are outside in daylight all day so the chocolate must have melted and cooled several times. It had a bloom (gone white) and was misshapen. I didn't even taste it, I took it to reception and explained the problem. They were very good and offered me a refund, but I was hungry so would've preferred a new, edible, candy bar. Overall we enjoyed out stay and would most certainly stay here again. We didn't have chance to try out the other facilities, but they did look good.

« Great Location and Spacious Hotel Rooms »

I visited this hotel twice with my family and we all loved it. Easy access on and off the freeway all while being a quiet and safe hotel. The room had upgraded new furnishings and there was a restaurant on site.

    5
« Great for your money »

Although it was clear this was an older hotel, it was clean, convenient, and well worth the money. The main restaurant was under-going major work, and I/we hope that the same price for the time of year remains the same. It was right next to major highways, but because of all the above mentioned, we were able to overlook that.

    4
    « a hidden gem »

The rooms are always clean and comfortable. I love the fact that it is several little buildings motel like but Best Western Style. So you walk out of your room right outside through beautifully manicured greenery that are tropical like and CA style. It is low key yet comfortable. The pool has no chlorine and water doesn't smell awful seems less toxic to skin and eyes. The first thing I do when I arrive from a long trip I take a swim in the heated pool to take the aches away of the trip. The Restaurant has decent food and you are always welcome by friendly staff. I come here once a year since 2001. They continuously do upgrades to the rooms or entrance, etc. They are always very good upgrades. And i have seen the same people working in this hotel since I first came to it, they remember you, and it tells you management is good to their employees. I think it counts!

« Just Your Average Best Western - Nothing Spoecial »

Check in was very slow. We established credit with credit cards and we got this long explanation about how in addition to our room rate we were going to have $75 held on our credit cards for incidentals and damages. Made no sense in this day and age. I had to call in regarding my Wi-Fi not working. That was handled efficiently by the supplier. My travel companion had the same problem but it was handled poorly. There was no express checkout. One has to go to reception to check out and get a receipt. Breakfast service was fairly good. The service staff has very long tenure.

    4
« Some reconstruction mayhem, but a good deal »

The restaurant and bar were under reconstruction. A meeting room was thus used for the restaurant and another room for the bar. The rooms were clean and well put together. They looked very nice. A free breakfast was not available, but the food in the restaurant was very good and with the very inexpensive rate of the rooms, made the hotel a great deal. The location was great for the various sight seeing we wished to do.

    « A good hotel choice »

I stayed at the Best Western Seven Seas in San Diego on a Friday night in January, 2016. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I was on the second floor. The original cafe on property was under rennovation. I got a great price on the room through Priceline. It was worth every penny.

« Excellent hotel for visiting San Diego »

I stayed here for three nights, I actually just checked out an hour ago, I'm writing this review from the airport. I was in town to visit a few friends last minute and I needed something affordable, but I refuse to stay in a dump. This met both of my demands. Check in was easy and fast. The front desk attendants were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and average sized. Not huge, but not tiny. Perfect for what I needed. The bed was comfortable, and I was well rested each night. The bathroom was also fairly clean (as clean as an economy hotel can be), and the water pressure in the shower was decent. The room includes free wi-fi and the connection was very stable. I was even able to download an entire movie in about an hour, something I've never been able to do on public wi-fi before. I used the pool and hot tub once, at 1 AM, so there was no one around. On a 50 degree San Diego night, the hot tub was amazing. I highly recommend going in the middle of the night so you can really just relax and not be disturbed. There's plenty of parking, I had no trouble finding spots. Security wise, the hotel seems to be in a safe area. It's on a road that runs parallel to the highway, and the only things on that road are other hotels, ranging from Super 8's to high end Marriotts. There is also a 24-hour convenience store down the street that's owned by one of the other hotels down there. Location wise, if you're looking for a hotel where you can walk to stuff, this is not the place you want. You NEED a car at this hotel. You are off the highway, and you will need the highway to get anywhere you want to go. However, if you have a car, this hotel is great for anything you might want to do. It's within 15 minutes max of everything in SD. Visiting my sister at San Diego State University? 15 minutes. Visiting my friends in Mission Valley? 7 minutes. Hanging out in Mission Beach? 10 minutes. Want to head downtown to the Gaslamp quarter for a night out? 10 minutes. I never had to drive more than 15 minutes to get anywhere the whole time I was here. Long story short, if you'll have a car at your disposal while in San Diego, this hotel can't be beat. Affordable, centrally located to everything, safe, clean, and an all around solid hotel. Probably the best Best Western I've been to thus far.

« For the price I paid, not a single complaint »

This hotel served fine for the purposes I needed it for - somewhere to sleep, shower and dress as I left out early in the morning and returned late in the evenings. I decided to stay here based on free parking, the cost but mostly the free cancellation (booked via Expedia). There was a bit of a queue at check-in. Was asked if I wanted a room on first or second floor. Chose second as I though it would be quieter. There's no lift but managed to get the cases up there okay. The grounds surrounding the room were nice. Trees, flowers and it looked even prettier lit up at night. The room could have been a little larger but for 3 nights it was fine. The sink was on the outside of the bathroom which I wasn't a fan of. Coffee making machine in the room. Free use of computer and printer in reception area (after leaving here stayed at the Bellagio Vegas paying fives times more for the room, plus resort fee and had to pay to print anything other than boarding pass so this little feature was appreciated) . Free wifi. There wasn't a lot of natural light. There were bottles of water provided at $2.50 but it's just as easy - and a whole lot cheaper - to bring your own.The cafe was closed but food was being served in another area. I didn't eat at the hotel, instead I walked to the Fashion Mall, less than 10 minutes from hotel where the was a food court and restaurants, including The Cheesecake Factory. Apparently there was meant to be a free shuttle bus to Old Town and the airport but I was told they're no longer offering this. Didn't use the pool or jacuzzi but saw others doing so and on a couple occasions I smelt the very strong scent of weed around the jacuzzi. There was a sign saying the hotel sold tickets for the zoo. Asked to purchase some on my arrival but was told they couldn't be sold til next morning. Tried again next morning to be told they still couldn't sell them but was given a $5 off voucher. Check out was extremely quick and simple. Experienced no problems with my stay here and the few times I spoke to staff they were professional, courteous and helpful.

« Great Place to Stay »

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel very much. Service and cleanliness were important to us - the hotel met both of those points, and more. The staff at this hotel was very helpful and accommodating, not just to us but also to other guests we noticed - excellent service. We were very comfortable with the room, it was clean. The property ground is also well kept, almost like a resort. Overall, a clean and great hotel for the price.

Nice service, price and beautiful landscaping. Room is nice and clean. Great location and hotel landscape is beautiful especially at night. We come to visit our children often and will continue to stay here every time we come to San Diego.

« Nice stay in San Diego »

Spent a couple of nights here during our stay in San Diego. The hotel is well located near attractions and shopping and easily accessible to highways. It is not a new facility but it appears to be cared for. Beautiful grounds with a nice pool area and two hot tubs. Very helpful staff and a clean facility. We were pleased with our stay.

    « Great stay »

I have nothing but good things to say. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the pool was great and parking was easy. It was a quiet room and had ample room for our luggage. My boyfriend and I drove to Vegas-phoenix-San Diego-LA , for Christmas and this hotel ranked up with the stratosphere in Vegas. It was a nice stay. I would come back to this hotel again.

    « not what i expected »

the information from the posting on what the hotel offers according to what I received at the location are not accurate. Staff were not very friendly and not helpful. This hotel needs some training in customer service I will most likely never stay here again or at any best western for that matter.

« Slow speed Internet also need refurbishing »

The internet was so slow that my data kicked in. That I could be OK with just a nuisance. I got back to my room around 9pm and wanted to take a bath. The stopper on the tub did not work so could not do that. I think it is funny how things that are so minor do not work and could easliy be fixed and left unfixed.....very disappointing. told the front desk the next morning.....so sorry........was all they said.....

    « Phewwwww... »

Checked in on Friday afternoon, advised the restaurant was under construction and the banquet room was booked, but the meeting room was being used as a temporary restaurant. No included continental breakfast is included as is customary with Best Western. Our room stunk with a musty, mouldy type of smell. It was located under the stairs and we heard every occupant that used it. This hotel is in dire need of remodel, especially the bathroom. Parking was a problem, it seems they have more rooms than parking spaces.

    « Nice and tidy »

We stayed here for 5 nights and found it very reasonable. The room wasn't big but was big enough for the 2 of us. Very clean and tidy. The room did have a fridge and a coffee/tea machine which was nice. The shower and toilet area was very cramped but was also enough for us. We did get room service once when we couldn't be bothered going out and it was not the greatest and cost a silly amount... But then We dined in in their on premise restaurant and it was really nice food, was no fine dining but a very hearty nice meal, the atmosphere in there wasn't very good but they were in the middle of renovations so this was no fault of their own and the staff/waiters were lovely and very accommodating . Had a swim in the heated pool which was beautiful and also indulged in each of their spas. A quick uber ride distance to the zoo and sea world which was handy, also quite close to the fashion valley mall which has a few places to eat, cinemas and shops. Found out AFTER we went to SeaWorld and the zoo they also offer shuttle service which goes there.

    « South Bound »

We were very disappointed in this Best Western. We won't stay there again. Price was to high for the quality of this hotel, no free breakfast or even coffee. Hotel is old and room was smelly. The staff was kind of snooty. We normally love Best Westerns but this was differently below the standards.

    3
« OK, But Not As Advertised »

The rooms are small but clean. The hot tub was nice. Beyond that, we had some problems. There is no airport shuttle service, as advertised, and despite the fact there are two large vehicles on site that didn't seem to move during our visit there. The front desk clerk said we couldn't make a reservation for shuttle service, but we could wait until we were ready to leave, and "see if the driver is available." She said if the driver wasn't available, she'd call us a cab to the airport. (That's about $30) The room service menu listed full bottles of liquor for sale, and we were happy to have a bottle delivered to enjoy during our evenings in our room. We were given a confusing explanation when we called room service, but basically came down to their remodeling of the bar, and no one having a key to the liquor for 4 days (exactly the number of days we stayed).

    « Lipstick on a pig »

Don't believe this is a 3+ star property. While the room was clean enough, the entire facility is in need of a complete renovation. We were very disappointed as we had a week reservation. My first clue that this was going to be sub-Best Western standards was the fact that their airport shuttle was unavailable for when we were arriving. I will say the hot tub was certainly hot enough and other than the foam that was created when the jets were on(add some more soda ash), was very nice. I am glad we really only slept here as we were about town for most of our stay.

« Great value and location. »

We stay here regularly when we come to San Diego. Can't beat the value, they have 2 nice spas, a fitness room, and heated pool, free internet, and the rooms are clean. The location is perfect for the zoo and Sea World or Balboa Park Museum complex, and close to a lot of good eats.

  • 4
« clean room , pleasant surroundings, well located »

Buildings are on 2 floors only, amongst very well kept gardens making you forget you are just off the freeway. The rate was very cheap for 3 nights. The room and bathroom had everything you need and looked recently refurbished. It was welcoming and very clean. Breakfast wasn't included but the menu has alot to offer, very big portions.

    3
« Very great location, although... »

This hotel's location is awesome, nearby are all other hotels including marriott, courtyard, in terms of prices, it is very competitive. Parking is a good leverage, as Best Western parking spaces are close to the rooms. Unfortunately there are other downside, they do not provide buffet breakfast, no elevators, and the front desk did not explain that they need $50 deposit per night on thecredit cards But overall it's still ok. Other plus point, it's close to fashion mall and outlet

    4
    « Good Location. »

The rooms are a bit small but the hotel is about ten minutes away from the airport. I like that it was near the North Park area, so its a great location if you are catching a flight out of Lindbergh Field and have a car to get around. Probably not the best place if you want to spend a night partying in San Diego.

    1
« Not Best Western Standard »

The Billing hold was double charged. Their billing asked me to call my bank so they can release it. I was told that hold would be only during the duration of my stay. After 3 days of check out they said we hold it for 5 days more. No Toiletries in the room. I had to buy my own. I spent hours try to resolve this, which took time away from our vacation and spoiled the stay.

    3
    « Average Stay »

The hotel is all right for a night stay. The service is excellent and the hotel is centrally located. 5 minutes to the Zoo, Sea world, Old Town and the beach. I had a function next door and couldn't get into that hotel, so I stayed at the Best Western.

    5
« Love it! It keeps getting better, 6 New Years Eves in a row »

I don't know how they do it. I own a small lodging facility in Alaska and there's no way I could offer this quality for this price. For an aging property, they have done very well with modest rates to manage the upkeep and maintenance. I walked in to my room this time thinking, I don't remember this higher-quality tile job in the shower...And maybe the carpet is newer...The bed was very good. I always love the central garden area, gazing on that from our room. It's always a delight to go there. This was the first time I used the hot tub and it was good. This was also the first time we used the bar. The drink was a STRONG pour!! Way more gin than tonic for an afternoon by the pool, but hey, not a problem! As usual, the room was very clean. I'm mystified how they do it, to keep everything so nice. It's such a joy to go here. A couple years ago, we made a huge mistake and stayed a few places down to save a few bucks--big, big mistake. We'll just keep coming back to Seven Seas now.

    2
« Should have paid a little more and stayed somewhere else... »

Not what we were expecting from a Best Western. Stayed here with my family of 4 because it was near the zoo and was expecting better from a Best Western. Room with 2 double beds was extremely small, hotel was quite dated and we felt uncomfortable. Thought we could get a roll-away bed with our room but they said it would not fit, They were correctm we could barely move in this tiny, tiny room! Will not stay here again.

    « Best western 7 seas »

not a bad place... not up to the best western level you expect from them. was ok for the trip to seaworld and zoo. just don't think your going to sleep in the grounds crew start early and are noisey. nothing special

« Christmas break at Seven Seas, San Diego »

Lovely grounds, very helpful staff. Breakfast in conference center as restaurant is being remodeled. Location is good (next to freeway and fairly close to downtown). Near Qualcomm Stadium. Thin walls between rooms. Very reasonable rates at least some times of the year.

    3
    « Clean Bargain »

Clean hotel, older, but fairly maintained. Could use a touch up here and there, but compared to other hotels/motels in this price range, this one is a better bargain. Good location, too. Everything in the room works and the room was clean.

« Very good for the money. »

Quiet and comfortable. Excellent location, not far from Balboa Park, Old Town, Sea World, shopping malls, downtown. The motel is a little dated. The hot water cut out briefly in the middle of a shower. The heater fan got noisy after running a while, but this is San Diego, so you don't really need to run the heater much. The room was cheap. I'd gladly pay more if continental breakfast was included, but they have their own restaurant, so I wouldn't expect them to undercut the restaurant. I was very satisfied with the excellent value.

    4
« Good value for money »

A good place for the money. The highlight was definitely the pool for my 3 year old who swam nonstop with no one else in the water. It's a 10 min walk to the fashion mall and trolley (great to get to Old Ztiwn and Seaport) but other than that (apart from a 30 min walk to another mall) you'll need a car to see anything. Restaurant average but next door there's a good burger place.

    2
« Not Friendly for Families »

If you're traveling with family and you have several pieces of luggage, then you want to avoid this place. The building has no elevator. Imagine the funny you'll have carrying your luggage up and down a flight of steps.

    5
    « I love this place »

I probably wrote a review about this place some time ago, when asked to. But now that I've stayed her for several years when working in the San Diego area, I would like to whole heartedly recommend Seven Seas Best Western. Normally when I do review a hotel I can only say what I experienced in the room I was staying in, but I've stayed her many times now, basically because I think it's a great value. The rooms aren't a Hilton, but they're clean and well maintained and the property is quiet and although the restaurant is a bit dated, when it's warm weather the patio restaurant is just great. I have clients that when I work with them in San Diego I have recommended this place. They usually stay at Hiltons or Marriott's and they now stay here when they come to town, because unless it's a busy time of year the price is usually under $100, which makes it a super value, while offering a comfortable and convenient stay.

    4
« Great place to stay »

I spent 2 nights at this property for my first visit to San Diego. It is an older property but it was very well maintained. The landscaping was especially nice as result of it being in place for years. The room and grounds were very clean. Although it is near the intersection of 2 major highways it was quiet. It gives easy access to many attractions in the area. There was easy access to the Mission area which has many restaurants. It had a nice pool and hot tub but it is a motel and not a resort property. All the staff who I had contact with were friendly and efficient. The price was very good compared to other properties in the area. I would stay again without hesitation.

    4
    « Good Location too »

The Best Western Seven Seas is conveniently located for access to downtown San Diego, the beaches, Sea World, and Old Town. It's an older property but appears to have been remodeled fairly recently. The grounds are very well kept and my room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable.. Staff members had a ready smile and helpful attitude. The restaurant is nothing special with a mediocre menu, but excellent service makes up for that. My ADA room gets a B- for getting most of the code right but missing on a few important points. All in all, this is an above average B/W and we'll be back.

    5
    « Excellent hotel experience »

This is the first time I have ever been moved to write a hotel review, but this hotel far exceeded my expectations. It is in the same area as a number of other low-budget properties, and I have stayed in several because it is close to my daughter, but from this point forward I will always choose this hotel. The check-in process was smooth, the property was well-maintained and the room itself was clean and very comfortable. The WiFi signal was strong, and parking was plentiful. The service and quality in the full bar and restaurant were both above average--and a surprise to even find in a low-budget hotel. I still can't believe the low price for the very high quality!

    3
« Decent rates, good value for the money »

One-night stay at the Best Western Seven Seas in San Diego. Good value for the money. Room was okay-sized and the bed was comfortable. The room is well insulated from the road noise but due to that it felt bit stuffy inside. In addition, there were smokers outside on the balcony so you just wanted to get in your room or get out to your car quickly. The bathroom was reasonably clean and looks to be recently updated. The registration staff was friendly, welcoming and efficient. The grounds look okay. Parking was bit tight at it seems they were high-occupancy that evening. I only spent one night at the property. It's a good value for the money. It's not terrible nor exceptional. Not compelled to recommend it though it's not all that bad. Location bit of a challenge but easy once you maneuver by the back road.

« Gross, no hot water & falling apart »

There was hair in the "clean" room, severe lack of hot water i.e. cool showers, mattresses worn out and hatefully uncomfortable, bugs and the sheets were threadbare and rough. Changed hotels right away in the morning

    « San Diego »

We have stayed here several times and find it is the most reasonably price hotel for the quality. Rooms are ample and is very quiet for being near highways. It is centrally located for all tourist activities.

    3
« Nice place to stay »

Fairly quiet room close to everything, very good value for the city, had everything we wanted. Good value for the money. No breakfast served like most Best Westerns but they do have a restaurant on site, a discount is offered for lunch and dinner, not sure why breakfast was not included in deal.

    4
« Good location and services »

We originally thought we would have to pay taxis to go anywhere. The hotel provides free rides on a shuttle to the airport which is only 15 minutes away, and also to San Diego Zoo and Sea world. You can also request a certain time and location to go somewhere ahead of time. A lot less stressful than calling and or flagging down a taxi. Very friendly staff and service.

    5
    « The right choice »

BW Seven Seas will be the right choice to make if you need a room close to San Diego and attractions. You get excellent service, nice pool and hot tub, with an exercise room. Comes with a nice restaurant with good service. Ample free parking, with a shuttle service to airport if needed.

    4
    « Well priced room »

Well priced room that was very clean. This hotel is conveniently located near Old Town. The hotel is somewhat dated, but overall in good condition. Have stayed at this hotel several times wit good experience each time. This is one of the most economical hotels on hotel circle in the San Diego area.

    3
    « Best Western 7 Seas »

Just OK...restaurant was convenient but overpriced. Probably has to do with the area it was located in. Hotel was convenient to most areas of interest, such as Old Town. the USS Midway Museum, Balboa Park, the Zoo, MCRD and the airport.

    3
    « Decent »

Not bad for hotel circle slightly out dated but clean the restaurant isn't terrible either I guess hot tub is open 24 hours a day pretty grounds slightly inconvenient location however absolutely must have a car

    4
« Ok hotel with a nice pool »

Nice and clean rooms with an average size. The pool looked very inviting, but unfortunately we didn't find time for that. The hotel offered free parking and was easy to reach as well as a good starting point for other trips to downtown (with the car), but on the other hand side it is located near really busy roads. In general, a rather average hotel, which served its purpose as a place to stay the night, while spending the days exploring everything San Diego has to offer.

« Certainly not the Best Western on this occasion. »

Had two nights here recently and was surprised at how basic it was to stay there. Having stayed at Best Westerns in other locations which were comfortable, roomy, spacious and attractive, I find it very hard to offer any words of encouragement to anyone looking for an endorsement of this place. On entering the main reception, there was a funny smell which immediately put me off. Then the receptionist on the main desk was wearing a leather jacket. Then came the no smoking warnings, deposit if there is anything broken/stolen. No real smile from her either. Not a great start. And then there were the rooms which were small considering it had two double beds in them. The beds were uncomfortable. The television in the room was basic, half the channels were not tuned in properly. The bath was very shallow, the toilet was not the best at flushing and made a loud noise when filling back up with water. It had a real 1970s feel to it - there were workmen fitting new carpet to the rooms when we were there but I couldn't say for sure if they made it to where we were staying or not. The site was not secure either as anyone could drive in and around to your rooms - no safe in the room either. For the price I paid, it was not value for money. The swimming pool was heated however but the table tennis facility was poor with the bats in need of repair and out of the two balls supplied, one was cracked and another had a dent in it - and the table was not put together properly. All in all, a disappointing experience from "Best" Western and would only use again as a last resort.

    « NEVER AGAIN »

Everyone's taste and budget is different so I hesitate to do this review but feel I must. I called the hotel ( actually motel) and was given all the best answers but found it was very much different then what I was led to believe This hotel (motel ) was very old and they said they were upgrading. I guess upgrades are obviously different to each person. The bathrooms were clean but chipped and scratched tubs. Old outdated colors and indoor outdoor floor covering. The towels were thin and poor quality as were the sheets and bedding. The outside was in bad need of upkeep. We would not have remained if this had not been a business rate. Fortunately that will never be an option again. We had to tote the bags upstairs and back down. Nothing near by to eat at unless you drive about 6 miles each way. We left as early as we could in the morning to go on to a lovely hotel

    1
    « One night »

This motel is very tired - rooms need a renovation. Room smelled when I opened the door and had to air the room out with the door open. Was not interested in eating at the restaurant after the state of the room.

    « Bare Bones »

No frills, no perks, no complimentary breakfast, not even a clock. There is a cafe and lounge on site, but If creature comforts are your thing, pick a different place. The place is dated but will suffice if you just want a place to sleep.

    « Positive feedback »

    « Old but clean »

It is dated but clean and comfortable enough for a night's stay. Renovation of it's rooms will make it a better hotel. An additional comment is that we could hear the noise from outside or the other rooms.

    2
    « Not impressed »

Best Western's are usually really nice, not this one. No luxury, odd smell, poor quality tv, heating didn't work, no blankets in the room, nothing special for the amount of money you're paying that's for sure.

    5
    « Concert »

We needed a room close to the concert venue. Checking in was very simple, not hassles. The room was clean, very reasonable for the area and close to the venue. The front desk fulfilled all our requests. Giving us a 1st floor room and side by side rooms.

« If you only need a bed to sleep in... »

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Checked in late and was told where our room was and then "dismissed" rudely. When I asked for clarification about the location of the room, I was treated like a I was bothering the night clerk. As for the room, the pictures on the BW web site are really misleading. Room has not been updated for quite some time and was very musty. My son started feeling dizzy from the mustiness so we started running the fan just to clean out the air. The mirrors on the wall may make the room feel bigger (which since its so small where quite needed), but gave the room a "creepy" feel when sleeping next to them and looking at yourself in the mirror. There are so many choices in San Diego I'd look elsewhere unless price is you primary driver or free WiFi which was surprisingly strong in our room.

    « First stay here. »

This was our first stay in this SD BW and it was good. Typical motel style complex, quiet, and well looked after. Had a great evening in Zack's Bar in the hotel, very friendly staff and patrons. Was surprised how quiet it was with the freeways on two sides of it. Could check it out again.

« GREAT LOCATION & THE PRICE IS RIGHT! »

« Awful, unprofessional, rude - Never stay here »

I booked this hotel for our San Diego vacation months in advance using my Best Western account, my member number , everything. I called in the day we were supposed to check in (I called in the afternoon) to let them know that we would be checking in late and the person told me it is all OK if we arrive before midnight, We arrived there at around 11 pm, I walk in to find out that my reservation was canceled and the room given to someone else. When I ask why, the answer is , well the afternoon personnel does not communicate with the night personnel to tell them stuff like that. As if I had called an individual on his personal phone to tell them that I would be checking in late. I called a Best Western employee...how can they say that employees do not communicate? Moreover, they hadn't only given the room for that night, but for the coming other 4 nights I had booked it and the hotel was fully booked. So, my husband , myself and our 3 years old daughter were now at 11 pm...on the streets of San Diego without a place to sleep. I called the Best Western call center, just to find out that they are not responsible for the actual hotels that use their brand and they could give us a room somewhere near Mexico for 400 USD per night...because they cannot match the price, again because they are not responsible for hotels. Never stay here! We booked Marriott instead and had a wonderful trip. The difference in price is not that large to have to put up with such rudeness.

    « Last Minute Trip »

We were thrilled to find availability at this hotel, as we booked it the week before our trip. Most hotels were sold out in the area, so we were pleasantly surprised to find comfortable, clean, and hospitable accommodations. We loved the location, which was within a couple miles of Old Town San Diego. If we ever need to return, I will definitely book this hotel.

    5
    « Great Cruise Package! »

All staff was friendly and helpful they helped with dining suggestions and directions as well as accommodating for our special needs group member. The cruise package was great. It included a place to keep our car while we were on the cruise itself. Convenient shuttle service to the pier was greatly appreciated! We didn't use the pool and spa, but they sure looked inviting and we LOVED the landscaping too. Lush and green. The room was comfortable and clean.

« Stay was too short. »

We were looking for a Best Western Hotel near the SAN airport. We found this nice hotel nestled in a beautifully landscaped scene. The hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. I would certainly stay there again. The rates were very reasonable and I can't wait to go out there again.

    5
    « Hotel Circle »

I really liked the location of this hotel. Walking distance to the trolley & the mall. I was warned that it might be a little noisy since it was next to the freeway, but my son and I didn't hear a thing. We were in town to watch the Steelers vs. Charger game. (Steelers won!) We were pleased with this hotel. We will definitely stay here again when we visit San Diego.

    3
    « Satisfactory »

A bit outdated and could use some upgrades/updates. If you book the reservation through Priceline or any other third party, don't expect to get points. The overall stay was satisfactory, if all you are expecting is a place to spend the night and not spend much time in the room/location.

    3
    « Acceptable, nothing fancy »

The hotel is fine for $80 a night. There's a fitness center and a pool, the parking is free, and it's close to a lot of things. The staff is very friendly. The room was okay, although I thought the outdoor ashtrays were too close to the rooms.

    « Find Another Hotel »

This Best Western is the worst we have stayed in our past three years of traveling and using BW facilities. Find another place to stay. We had a 90 minute wait at the airport when we were told it would be 40 minutes. Upon our arrival at the hotel, the receptionist was unapologetic and bordering on condescending when asking about the delay. The restaurant staff were slow and non-attentive after the order was placed and received.

« My Go To in San Diego »

I actually stay here when I have a gig in San Diego which is numerous times and for a number of years. Great price and quality! The diner is very convenient. They were very accommodating one year when the roads were flooded as if I were in a family run business not a cooperate chain. The location is not down town which I find nice and quiet and still a. easy drive to everything.

    « Disappointed »

I just came from a 5 hrs drive. Ready to get some rest. I have stayed at another Best Western in San Diego and was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and well maintained rooms. I walk in my room at this location and am disappointed as soon as I walk in. Everything is so small, which is understandable due to the age of the hotel. However, it doesn't excuse the room not cleaned well and the overall room needs a facelift. There's nothing wrong with an older building but there is something wrong when you pay 100 /night for a room that makes you feel like you need a shower. The bathroom tub has a patch poorly done. The sink counter had dirt on it. The towels were brownish in the middle. Good thing I brought my own. The remote for the tv is practically Brown on the face where it should be white. It even says the word clean on the bottom! And the front door doesn't feel secure, raggedy and old. Please give this hotel a facelift! Just want to mention that the staff is friendly and helpful. They are the only positive to this experience so far.

« Great Value and Location »

Hotel is a great location central to almost any activity in SD. Value is very good. upkeep and cleanliness is great. Ample free parking. Internet speed and availability was ok. AC worked great. Bathroom water temp and pressure were excellent. Pool was good and property has 2 hot tubs. Service was good. Cons: beds in our room were same hardness as the floor and left us in pain every day. on site restaurant is way too expensive for food types and quality especially the breakfast. Multiple flyers for fly-by-night food delivery places left in room. do your own Internet search and order from other known local places that deliver.

« Best Western Seven Seas »

The Seven Seas was an excellent hotel for what we needed..access to the interstates, clean, quiet, with a nice pool, saltwater hot tubs, solid food, an attentive and personable staff, and a great overall package. Spent four months at the Seven Seas and enjoyed it. We will be back again! Thanks, Dave

« Just fine for the center lane experience »

I found my room to be ample and clean. No issues to speak of. If you expect glamour go someplace else. This is just a good solid hotel at a reasonable price. I made the free coffee in the morning and with three powdered creamers it tasted just fine and I am a coffee snob. My room had a mini fridge which came in handy to store 3 waters, an orange and my medication. I had a room on the ground floor and you can pretty much hear others coming and going. I wish it had HBO or other channels of TV but if you pay, you can order current movies. WiFi and parking are free which is nice. The pool and landscaping are very nice. Check in staff is also nice and I arrived early and was given my room easily. I would stay here again.

    « just okay »

The shower went from hot to cold. Not good. The toilet screamed like a pig going to the slaughter every time we flushed. The towels were very rough and scratchy. Too much bleach in laundry I am sure. The beds were hard, but we slept okay. Grounds were lovely. I asked for more coffee from a maid. She gave me gave me a rude look. But, gave it to me. They had one outlet for the coffee maker and hair dryer. No sharing outlets for anything else.

    « Best Weekend Ever »

My husband and I stayed for a weekend. I was not thrilled with the decor, but the room was very clean. The bed was comfortable, so we were able to sleep well. The bathroom was old, but clean. There's a laundromat on the premises and we were close to it. I found that quite convenient. I had lunch at the cafe and really enjoyed my order. We spent one night at the pool and relaxed there for sometime before retiring for the evening. We stayed in room 409 on the first floor. We didn't have a view, but that's OK, because it was very quiet. Parking was easy to come by. We left on a Monday quite pleased. We'll stay there again without hesitation. By the way, the staff was very friendly. I recommend staying there.

« Average for what you Pay »

Old, but fairly well maintained. In room lighting was minimally adequate. Restaurant good. Only one computer in lobby which was out of order. Overall, a decent value for what you pay. I only stayed 2 days, but might consider booking again.

    « One night stay »

The night staff was wonderful, morning staff not so much. The room was nice, quiet and clean. The shower was unpleasant-little water pressure and the temp changes randomly. The food at the cafe was good, but service was a little "firm". Overall, not bad. I would stay again, the atmosphere was nice and it was close to where we needed to go.

    « Great Stay »

We enjoyed our stay, we relaxed in the lounge and talked to friendly staff. We are close to the mall and old town San Diego, family friendly. The beds could be a bit more comfortable, but worked for our stay. We would .be back.

    « Ok »

Not bad.. Room is nice. I asked for a Bottom floor because my knee. I got room 107. Approximately 20yards from parking.. But directly across from pool. I dragged all my gear (I'm active duty military ) up a set of 2 steps . Oh well right .. You get what you pay for?

    « Like A Tropical Paradise »

This was a great escape from the desert heat, but I wasn't expecting such lush grounds, like being in Hawaii. There is a cafe that offers room service, which was also unexpected. Two Jacuzzi, and a nice pool. Paradise without the high prices of a tropical vacation. So, yes, I am smitten.

this is the 3rd. time I have stayed at the Seven Seas in as many years it well placed for all attractions in San Diego. the grounds , pool and restaurant are all of a high standard. an added advantage is you can park right outside your room. there are also restaurants in walking distance and as with most Best Westerns the staff are always attentive Well done Seven Seas again!!!!

« Bad Check In Experience »

We were very disappointed that while we made a reservation for a lower level room by the time we checked in we were forced to take a stairwell up to the second floor. We specifically asked for a lower level as my mother has bad hips and a hard time climbing stairs. The second floor would have been fine had there been an elevator at least, but there was not which resulted in us hauling her luggage up for her so she wouldn't fall. We were very displeased by this to start with, but what added insult to injury was the extremely rude nature of the check in receptionist.
