    « Very disappointing hotel »

We booked the Best Western PLUS Hotel, in Sofia, through Booking.com. rated to be a 4 star hotel. It was a great disappointment when we got there. It was an old hotel, very basically decorated and the room didn't look anything like shown in the photos. The worse picture was the carpet...absolutely filthy, with huge stains all over the carpet and with an unpleasant strong smell. The TV didn't work and the guy, after calling him 3 times, he came over the room but didn't sort the problem out; only in the following day we found out the remote control didn't have batteries .We couldn't stay in such a place.!! We had already paid for 5 days of our stay in Sofia and according to the rules, we couldn't cancel . The following morning we had a talk with the manager , I showed him the pics I had taken from the filthy carpet and to summarize the report, he agreed to cancel, the remaind of our booking, apologized for the state of the room. We moved to a beautiful Radisson Blue Hotel in the best part of the city, with a nice view.

    « Very Comfortable Cabanas »

We stayed one night in November at Villa Sofia. We booked using the Best Western web site and reserved a cabana with breakfast, which was very reasonably priced. Our room was huge with a small kitchenette and large bathroom. The floors were heated stone, and the furniture was large, beautiful wood. The setting was private, even though there were plenty of units. Our only hiccup was that the breakfast room at the cabanas was not operating, so we had to figure out in the morning that we needed to walk a block away to the actual hotel to find our included breakfast. Because the center of town is an easy downhill walk, it was a 15 minute uphill walk back after dinner. This could be an issue for some, as it is a bit steep, but it was not a problem for us, and after experiencing three different accommodations in Bariloche while traveling in and out of the city over a month long period, this is the hotel we would definitely book for a return trip. They had parking available and our wifi worked great.

« Good place. Not family friendly »

We stayed at the Cabanas (208). They are nice and well maintained. The breakfast at the hotel (80m away) was great (cakes, pastries, wafles, bacon & egg, etc). The children playground was well equipped (including a zip line and a trampoline (broken)). The winter & gym were ok but they had too many rules that prevented my 8 year old from using them (no kids under 16 on the hot top even with their parents??). The kids club was a disappointment. We expected to have somebody taking care of kids but instead we found out that we were supposed to be there and look after the place. It is just a room with toys and my 8 year old cannot stay alone? The WIFI service was terrible (no service on peak hours). There was an issue with the hot water that they could not fix while we were there (they were working on it). Overall: nice accommodation but it is NOT a family place where kids can roam free and have fun

« Do not stay in this place ! »

Our stay at this "place" was for one week. Actually it was too long.... I don't know with what I should begin ? With the awful reception and the total unfriendly personnel or with the 100 Meter distance crossing a street to have our breakfast at another facility for a miserable breakfast. The peak of the mountain was the shower pressure which felt as if someone is pi..ing on you !!! What was funny though is the explanation of the manager that this is a normal issue in the city :)) Not to mention the wifi that works for 10 seconds and stops for 5 minutes which is also, according to the personnel, a normal phenomenon.

« Great Staff, Cabins Just Okay »

Stayed for a week in November. We hoped for better accommodations in the "cabins," which are 4 rooms to a building. You could hear the people in the adjoining units. It was hard to make much of a meal with the very minimal, tiny kitchenette. But it was certainly adequate. WiFi was abysmal. The actual hotel is a three minute walk up the road. That is where you find the breakfast room, a lobby, and the gym. You could easily walk into town, but the steep walk back may be hard for some, as the sidewalks are sometimes non-existent and there is loose gravel to navigate. We like hiking so the walk back up was fine for us. The "spa" is really just a small town gym facility, used not only by the guests but also by the locals. I liked it because everyone was friendly, and I felt more a part of what was happening in the town rather than cut off at some resort. When I travel I want to be with the locals, and you certainly are at their "spa." I think what's best about Villa Sofia is the staff. Eugenia at the front desk certainly stands out. She went out of her way to help us with reserving rooms for elsewhere on our trip. Since our Spanish is so bad, she was a delightful helper when we needed it. Housekeeping was on top of keeping the room clean and stocked with fresh towels. Marcos and many others made great suggestions on where to eat, places to see, and where to go hiking. I am sorry not to remember more names. Really everyone working there was great.

« Everything you need, and then some »

My wife and I stayed four nights in one of the cabins; the room itself was more spacious than expected, which is always good, and had everything you could wish for. Three main comments come to mind (in no particular order): first, we were surprised how friendly and helpful the staff was (from reception to housekeeping). Second, breakfast was unreasonably expensive: slightly over 100 pesos per person, knowing you can find decent breakfast in town for 30-40 (ours wasn't included, so needless to say, we didn't have breakfast at the hotel). And third, it's worth noting that the place is located up a hill, which can turn out to be a pretty tough climb for those with back problems (like ourselves). Overall though, it was everything it advertised and we were happy with our stay.

    « Poor very poor »

This accommodation is split in 2 locations separated by almost 1 block. Hotel is on one location, apart hotel/log cabins on the other. The log cabins location offers NO SERVICE whatsoever. The breakfast areas is completely closed and if you wish breakfast you just go to the other location and PAY for it. The log cabins are catered with the most MINIMUM I have ever seen, specially for a BW. A tiny microwave, 2 small electric burners and a mini fridge, which does not even cater ice trays to make ice. Lest I say that there are no ice vending machines, and the worst part about it, is that when you ask for ice at the reception desk, you are diverted to the other location, where once agan they do not provide guests with ice, as they have no furnishings to put it into..!!!!!!!!!!! furnishings in the log cabins are the MOST BASIC I have seen: 3 plates 3 wine glasses 3 knives and forks 1 frying pan Wi-fi is NON EXISTENT, It seems that some router was burned out but it has never been fixed. So no wi fi connection, not even in the reception, nor in the main hotel location. The phone in the cabin, nbr 206 was dead when we arrived, and was still dead when we left on Nov 11. I claimed for this the first and second day, but never got a positive reply, not even to say they were working on it. The spa, gym and pool area, are loaded with people that are not hotel guests, but monthly paid citizens of the area that come into use the facilities. Gym facilities are almost impossible to use after 9 am as they are literelly taken by these people, same happens with the swimming pool. The main hotel location, is supposed to cater with a lounge bar,..................which is closed, and has been closed for the past 9 months.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked the receptionists at the recptions desk at both locations to add my BW membership Nbr to my stay................they did not know how to do so.............!!!!!!!!!! I must say this is the worst BW I have been ever. I work in the tourism trade for the U.S. Dept of State, so I am aware of the standards that are expxcted to be a BW franchise or affiliate......................but this was the worst I have experienced.

    « Basic 3 star accommodation »

This is a very basic hotel and apart hotel on the Best Western chain, but noteven up to Best Western standards. Lacksa lot of service both at the hotel and at the Aparthotel which are actually log cabins. Amenities are scarse and comfort is even more scarse.

    « A great hotel in a wonderful place »

The hotel is great, it's a beautiful hotel, with big and clean rooms. The breakfast was great too, the staff was good and well, it's a really beautiful hotel in a beautiful city. Stayed there in july/2012 and would stay there again.

    « Nice setting but there's better »

This hotel is located away and up a steep hill from the town centre, so be prepared for a hard walk back if you dont have a car. These apartments are all self contained with a well equipped kitchenette. I paid to have breakfast included but this is taken in the hotel itself about a 200 metre walk. The breakfast was simple but typical and adequate. Unfortunately the front door lacks privacy with only a see through curtain to cover the glass doors. The wifi there was terrible and for the most of my time there useless. Some of the staff spoke good English and were helpful. The quality of the invoice is poor and I had to return in order to get a better more legible copy. Overall this hotel proved very poor value for money after I had checked out and discovered better and cheaper hotels in the centre.

« Visiting San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina »

I was with my family. Very near of the main streets of Bariloche. Easy to take transportation. Rooms were comfortable, no air conditioner, only heater, but not necessary, outside temperature was cold, near 50° F. Facilities were good, pool, spa, gym, etc. Breakfast buffet was very good. Wifi included in the room.
