"Excellent choice"
randallg793, 29 Mars 2024

We booked the Aiden, based on reviews after moving out of our prior place. We had had a terrible experience with cockroaches, and we just needed something clean. The Aiden was the perfect choice. The staff is professional and courteous, the rooms are sparkling, and the hotel is within walking distance of the Riverwalk. Had I known about the Aiden prior to coming to San Antonio, we would've booked our entire stay here. This is an excellent value.

"Exceptional stay near convention center"
carab655, 17 Février 2024

Newly renovated. Gorgeous decor, large rooms, exceptional staff. Reasonably priced and super quick valet parking. Once you know how to get there, location is very convenient. Perfect combination of high quality hotel and self service.

"Nicely Remodeled Hotel"
gregc998, 10 Février 2024

I have stayed at this hotel for the past 25+ years for our bi-annual conventions. The new renovations completed during Covid have taken the hotel to a premier level along with nearby hotels such as Marriott and Hyatt.

"Very trendy! Newly renovated!"
jarissadotson, 08 Février 2024

My stay at another hotel was going terribly so I canceled my remaining days and booked at Aiden. What a huge difference! Everything from the lobby, the customer service, and cleanliness of the room was immaculate! They attended to my husband and I's every request and truly made our 1st anniversary special. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a trendy, hip hotel with close proximity to the Riverwalk without all of the traffic.

"Downtown Jewel"
Companion66921446493, 07 Février 2024

Walking distance to downtown San Antonio, like 10-15 from Riverwalk. Honestly one of the best experiences I had in the area as I was hesitant to book a hotel in the area due to bad experiences in the past. Everything here is on point from the staff to the room! Will come back.

"Aiden BW Alamodome San Antonio"
sbraudway, 05 Février 2024

This is a great hotel within walking distance of Alamodome. It is recently renovated, staff were friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were nice, with comfy beds. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

"Our stay"
sherrylabadie, 15 Janvier 2024

My daughter and I loved our room. The location was great. Service was great. Couldn't wait to share pictures with my friends and family. Even the lbby smelled amazing. Beds were comfy and we did not expect the room to be as big as it was.

"I'm pretty cheap when it comes to hotels but Aiden is worth paying for. "
Ann Marie L, 06 Janvier 2024

The room was very modern and had a wonderful view. The hotel staff were gracious and helpful. Our room wasn't quite ready so they gave us VIP tickets for the bar. Great shower and very comfortable bedding. A good suite experience if you need to stay for a few days. They also comped us one night of valet parking.

"Excellent yet Affordable!!"
RecklessLackey, 19 Septembre 2023

We decided to have a staycation for my birthday this year and I'm so glad we did! We felt like we out of town, the stay was so gratifying. We had tickets to the I Love the 90's concert so booking that hotel was a no brainer! So perfect, especially that balcony!

"Best Birthday Celebration"
tpowers04, 18 Septembre 2023

The hotel was exceptional; clean, convenient, friendly staff, nice bar, and comfortable environment. We will definitely be back. If you are attending any concerts at the Espee Pavillion it is only a short walk.

"Great Stay!"
doriyeater, 18 Septembre 2023

Went with a big group of friends and had a blast! The staff was so nice and very accommodating. The bartender was also very friendly and waited on us hand and foot. I would stay here again. Walking distance to the river walk, restaurants, and bars. Highly recommend the Aiden!

"Great stay"
maxlM3776OS, 14 Septembre 2023

Great experience. Very stylish and good location near St Paul Square restaurants. The staff was very polite and attentive. Everything is brand new and they have a bar and coffee shop inside. Rooms were well appointed and very comfortable.

"New Hotel and it's Wonderful!!"
cazandraqp99, 18 Juillet 2023

This hotel is downtown near the Riverwalk. It is an old completely refurbished hotel. It smells brand new and clean. The decor is very trendy and nice. The rooms are very large with a living room and kitchenette. The shower is very beautiful with great shower head and water power, it also has a hand held shower head. Great window treatments and very cool air condition. Valet was very professional. Great staff. Full bar is available for purchase. The hotel has a cafe and deli as well for purchase.

"Nice Hotel definitely"
Swterthenu, 10 Juillet 2023

If I was to return I would stay again. Price was good except the 20 a day valet. I think that should be included in the stay n you do ur own tips to valet. The hotel is rt down the street from river walk and other restaurants in walking distance. Nice clean and looks like a little boutique in the inside.

"Absolute best time at this hotel!!!"
EmilyBird12184, 30 Juin 2023

I was here with a big group last week, and we had the most amazing time at this hotel!!! The staff was incredible, the hotel was decorated so beautifully, very spacious rooms, and the location was amazing! We've already booked our next trip, you HAVE to visit this hotel!!!! (even though I kind of want it to remain a secret because it's that amazing!!!)

"Good location.Only microwave in lobby. No breakfast perks. $20 valet parking."
markcarlpaul, 09 Juin 2023

Best day and afternoon staff I have ever seen in all my travels I liked the close room locations to many attractions. Liked the clean rooms and lobbies. I really liked the professional staff and their appearance.

"Great stay"
Maria F, 26 Mai 2023

Amazing hotel with friendly staff. I needed more towels in my room and staff immediately resolved that issue by bringing more up to my room. Breakfast was delicious and many options to choose from. Not a far walk from the river center which was convenient.

"They aren't open but are taking reservations"
sungirl40, 08 Janvier 2023

Well, I have reservations for March 2023, and came here to look at pictures…and I see that they aren't going to be open till November of 2023….and I still have reservations and have yet to be notified by Best Western!!! Luckily I saw this and will be making other arrangements now!

"Canceled by hotel with no notice"
TnBB, 01 Janvier 2023

This facility canceled our reservation without any notice. Thankfully we were able to find accommodations that were probably much better. The location wasn't as good as the 2nd hotel we reserved and we would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Canceled with no notification"
TnBB, 20 Novembre 2022

Our reservation was mysteriously cancelled with no notification. Best Western Customer Service didn't even have a clue and had no information, and no help. As a BW Rewards member this is unacceptable.

"Cancelled with zero notification"
TnBB, 15 Novembre 2022

Can't review the actual hotel because our reservation was mysteriously cancelled with no notification. Best Western Customer Service didn't even have a clue and had no information, and no help. As a BW Rewards member this is unacceptable.

"Memorable in a good way"
F4981JCmichaels, 20 Août 2021

We stayed at 36 hotels on this particular trip. Most are not memorable, but this place is. When a hotel you stay at for only one day is memorable, it is because it was part of the whole experience you had in that particular area. This place was a beautiful old building converted to a hotel of suites. The room we had was furnished to match the ambience of the building: Wooden bed frames, and an antique wooden desk for example. The lobby doors were stained glass. A gorgeous building. Parking was relatively easy too. The staff was friendly and helpful. Knew the area well. The beds were comfortable, and housekeeping was impeccable. Easy freeway access on and off. You would be hard pressed to find anything wrong with this place. Even the prices were good.

"Best Western by the Riverwalk"
Harvey H, 30 Juillet 2021

This hotel is excellent. About a 5 minute walk to the Riverwalk and 10 minutes to the Alamo. The staff is so helpful and kind. The parking is easy and next to the hotel. I'll recommend this place to anyone visiting San Antonio. Also, access to the freeway is quick and easy.

"Wonderful visit"
meganvenegas, 28 Juillet 2021

Best western plus near the river walk was an excellent choice and we will be making it again. Staff was friendly, fast and efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Was a great affordable room.

"Anniversary"
Ryanfamily5, 18 Juillet 2021

This hotel is closely located to the Riverwalk. Older building well maintained with a lot of character. Close to freeway, shopping, entertainment, the Alamo, Amtrak station, Valero Alamo Bowl and restaurants are all in walking distance. San Antonio botanical gardens was a 10 minute drive away. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice selection for breakfast during this Covid time.

"Convenient location!"
sammichelle28, 21 Juin 2021

It was a good experience!! I would stay at this hotel again. Clean rooms, free parking lot an amazing convenient location. It was an excellent experience, will book again here when returning to San Antonio!

"Vacation on the riverwalk"
cornhusker2021, 04 Juin 2021

Rooms are very dark, need ceiling lighting. Construction going on above us after the Memorial Day weekend was over which was loud at times. Front desk personnel were for the most part very friendly. Not that close to the Riverwalk if have older people in your party.

"Nice little hotel, unfortunate circumstance"
nmcintyre32, 16 Mai 2021

We were pleased with the location on the breakfast of this property. Unfortunately, we were didn't realize the property was being remodeling. Had we known we may have decided to stay else where this one time. However, I do not think this would have been an issue, except that we hand a lot o drain flies in our room for the two days we were there. The property is a well furnished and beds were comfortable. The location is an acceptable distance to walk to the River Walk or have an Uber to pick you up and take you where you want to go. We would stay at this property again.

"Happy Stay"
dgcarpentier, 10 Mai 2021

We have stayed at this Hotel before in the past. Will continue to do so as it is conveniently located to Historical, dining and shopping areas. Far away from the crowds, yet close enough to walk to popular spots. This stay meet our expectations, except for the hotel construction going on with what appeared renovations.

"Classic accomodations. Rooms are large and quiet. Outstanding location in downtown area."
holleyb501, 01 Mai 2021

Great service and cool clean and quiet rooms. The staff always goes above and beyond. Location is outstanding to business downtown. Great value for the money. Close to all major highways and the Gonzalez convention center.

"Convenient Property partially in historic property"
Phyllis P, 25 Avril 2021

Really convenient to Riverwalk without the noise or price of a Riverwalk stay. This is our 4th time at this property. They are undergoing room renovation; but workers were considerate of guests. Breakfast was a plentiful grab-n-go bag. Manager gave us a bag full of goodies to be taken back to our rooms with beverage of your choice. No waiting. Fresh fruit, muffin, sausage biscuits, yogurt, granola bar. Something to please everyone.

"Outstanding"
Salter L, 22 Avril 2021

Overall the hotel is decent with the amenities they have to offer. They are under renovation right now so I'm sure it's going to be even better. Adriin at the front desk is one of the best workers they have!! She went above & beyond for my family!! She definitely deserves a raise!! Adriin is what made our stay AMAZING I have never met anyone like her. She is always very welcoming, very helpful & understanding. If you care about customer service like I do then you will definitely enjoy your stay at this hotel.

"Walking distance to Alamodome and River Walk"
DL2Some, 06 Avril 2021

The hotel is in the midst of remodeling and, as such, a bit disheveled. Our room was spacious and overall clean; however, the carpet needs some serious attention due to stains. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. COVID protocols are in place and rigidly followed. There are a number of restaurants nearby with our favorite, Toro, right across the street. Parking costs are reasonable for a downtown hotel. Breakfasts are brown bag and sufficient. Alamodome and River Walk are easy walks. If we return to San Antonio we would certainly give strong consideration to staying here.

"Conveniently Located"
MelCal90601, 02 Avril 2021

This hotel is within walking distance to both the Amtrak station and to the Riverwalk. Room was spacious for the whole family. My only concern how hard it was to figure out how to use the TV and due to the construction, parking was limited.

"Did not enjoy my stay"
natnmm513, 21 Mars 2021

I do not recommend staying at this location. The hotel was under construction which I did not get a heads up about that. The rooms need a serious upgrade. Bathroom towels were old. Tub did not look like it was cleaned right. Room was very dusty. The A/C was making a loud screeching noise all night and I did not get a good sleep. My experience there was not good at all!

"Over priced"
latarshae, 18 Mars 2021

Hotel is over priced for what it offers. Location is great for what I went for but other than that, I would not pick this hotel. If you are going to charge $200 plus to stay in your hotel then the service and amenities should match the price. Terrible breakfast and the hotel is under construction, with a terrible odor.

"Modern with old-world charm"
891bjw, 12 Mars 2021

This is the BEST hotel ever! The old bricks, tin ceilings and wood floors bring a great ambiance to the lobby. Staff is friendly and professional. Room decor is perfect. We walked to the Alamodome easily and quickly.

"Dont go"
christi862000, 10 Mars 2021

Not worth your money !!! Our rooms a/c didn't work then we had to change rooms mind you we have 5 children as well so once we unpacked we have to repack all of our stuff once we got done with that in the next room we went to it had a broken lamp in the room an when checked in they dont tell you that uou will be charged a parking fee of almost 20 bucks to park your vehicle in a unsafe place

"Good experience overall"
carleyrichard75, 12 Février 2021

Great location. Beautiful hotel. Very clean. Air conditioner had trouble keeping the room comfortably cool, even in February. Cold water I restroom was not working, but it worked in the sink just outside the restroom.

"Great Property"
Wagner M, 19 Janvier 2021

Very historic property. Has a very old vintage feel and the regular room was very large. There was some renovations going on while there, so there were some eye sores around. But overall very satisfied with the location and feel of it.

"Surprisingly elegant, and very convenient"
cngraber, 29 Décembre 2020

I chose this location without much knowledge of the area. My family is in good shape and we have no hindrance for mobi l it. We made it to Alamo in 5 minutes. Any where down town was within 15 minutes on foot. I like the motel much better than the larger ones simply because of the convenience. Only 4 floors, parking at main entrance. And never a line for anything. Additionally the hat that the building is historical is another big plus.

"Beautiful Lobby facing Downtown!"
tremedic3, 28 Décembre 2020

Very good location, Amtrak near by makes it feel even better to be in the area. Downtown is minutes away, 4 by foot, Downtown bus system makes it even easier! Surrounded by History and great Food! #winning

"BW Sunset Suites- Riverwalk Easy Walk Half way between Train Station & Riverwalk"
charlieswanner, 13 Décembre 2020

Our train was delayed, but they held our room for us, We got in at 3 AM next morning. Staff was very nice and helpful . Construction in process , but motel is clean . Room was very nice , very clean, mattress a little hard and low lighting but beautiful decor. with fridge and microwave. We really enjoyed our stay.

"Outdated room furniture & torn / stained carpeting."
WCH1970, 19 Octobre 2020

The parking situation for us was unacceptable, we wasted an hour trying to use the overflow parking garage. The experience was confusing and frustrating to say the least since the garage gate wasn't operational.

"Beautiful vintage hotel n great location"
ashleykuehne11, 03 Octobre 2020

I checked in and she said since i was a rewards member that I got free parking which was an amazing unexpected surprise! the dark hair check in lady was the most friendly an welcoming. (The blonde lady was the worst, the only downfall to the hotel) Its literally minutes from the Riverwalk and Alamo which saves so much on parking. I thought the room and hotel was so beautiful. I definitely staying there again when I go back!.

"Quiet Hotel"
Kathleenm2793, 01 Octobre 2020

Quiet little hotel within walking distance to the Riverwalk. It is not 3 regular blocks, it's three city blocks and going under a overpass. The walk was fun and we had a great time. The residents helped us when we got turned around and as two females, we felt safe walking at night

"Excellent hotel clean and quiet, I extremely recommend it!"
adolfoelias79, 04 Septembre 2020

The only thing I didn't like was the parking spot but they have acces to a garage and its nice, the inventive way to give you a breakfast and the atmosphere it's great, Access to your room is great also!

"Everything here was exceptional"
auraeliusluna, 13 Août 2020

Professional employee's and amazing rooms ... Very classy and Americana feel to the rooms .... After a long trip from Los Angeles union station and tired from a long , long train trip , I arrived here exhausted... I was greeted well and told I want you to feel and be comfortable and at home now ... No more Said and from that moment all tiredness went aways .... When I entered the room I was amazed and in shock how well everything is and clean .... I really do thank them all and how much I appreciate them making my stay marvelous....

"Covid19 affected my stay I think - average"
lance997, 21 Mai 2020

Little disappointed during my cross country trip. Staff was very friendly and the room was nice comfortable. I had a few issues though. Parking fee was added on even the town is a ghost town during the pandemic and there were spots everywhere - waive the fee during this - when I booked I wasn't aware also. No breakfast or coffee was offered in the morning even though every other Best Western I stayed at during the week had a grab n go bag and coffee available. The toilet seat had an "unknown" stain on it when I arrived which was kinda gross, but I cleaned it myself. Nice location and blaming Covid on the problems I suppose.

"Money was stoten by staff"
latarshae, 19 Mars 2020

I forgot some money in my room and when I called to ask it about it, my money had magically disappeared. Also, during events they mark their prices up by a $100 plus dollars and besides the location, their is nothing special about the hotel. The breakfast is basic and the rooms average. The front desk people are nice and friendly.

"Fantastic Team and Property"
Debbie B, 14 Mars 2020

We loved the decor and cleanliness of the entire property. Convenient to everything, yet not too close as to be too noisy. The customer service was perfect on every level during our stay. The suite was cozy yet quite roomy. The mini fridge kept our drinks cold and the bed was comfortable. Self-parking rates were very reasonable for this area and the parking garage is literally right across the street! We walked out the back door and right down the block to see several restaurants and others out enjoying San Antonio. Great location, excellent customer service, and cozy charm of this hotel makes it a place we'll definitely return to.

"Good value and location"
Joe C, 08 Mars 2020

We loved the location and opportunity to park very close. Had to pay for that parking but we assume that would have been the case for any of the downtown attractions. Easy access to the interstate. The room decor was nice but the room was a little dark despite all the lamps. The TV was very nice and the breakfast was good.

"Great location, friendly staff"
RayA1963, 05 Mars 2020

We choose this hotel as it was close tothe city centre. For that we were not disappointed, with it being just a short 200 yards from the entrance to the Alamo mall, from there all central attractions are in walking distance. The room was good, although the carpet wasn't as clean as it could have been, walking barefooted my wife's feet got dirt after only a short while, and this was not after showering. Breakfast was adequate although we only had breakfast two days, having opted for local restaurants on other days, truth is I'm a lover IHOP. The waffles were very light, we didn't choose hot savoury food, juices were OK, etc.. The other facilities were good, it was free parking, which we appreciated for a city hotel, the shop was reasonably well stocked at convenience store prices. Overall would recommend this hotel for couples and families looking to be in easy reach of attractions.

"Awesome Stay!!!"
ponysanantonio, 24 Février 2020

The hotel was an ideal location for the AT&T center, Alamodome and Downtown SA. The hotel itself was extremely clean and well kept. The staff, from the cleaning attendants to the desk staff were very friendly and professional. Always willing to assist you with anything. Best stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

"San Antonio Riverwalk and Alamo"
seniortravelercouple, 23 Février 2020

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Sunset Suites-Riverwalk. It is approximately 2 city blocks from the Riverwalk and about the same distance from the Alamo. The price for the hotel is very reasonable based on the quality of the hotel and location. There is ample free parking and it;s easy to get to.

"Affordable option close to convention center"
Dan M, 26 Janvier 2020

The proximity to the Convention Center and Alamo Dome is a huge plus. However, it is a bit of a hike just to get to the Riverwalk, and some may feel a litlte nervous taking that walk at night. However, there are a couple nice places to eat within the same block which are great options. The lobby has a nice, older charm to it, but the rooms themselves are in a different section of the building and are more your standard US hotel rooms. My king suite had a small couch, a nice desk to do work on, a small refrigerator, and was very comfortable.

"Amazing Staff, fantastic hotel and a great value!"
carterlis2020, 23 Janvier 2020

We were traveling with a large group, this hotel was within walking distance of our convention center. The staff was so helpful and accommodating, the hotel itself has wonderful charm. I would absolutely stay here again on a return trip!

"excellent place to stay"
paulgX5110FQ, 14 Janvier 2020

Whenever we visit San Antonio we stay here usually two to three times a year. It within walking distance to everywhere we like to go. Right down the street to the river walk area, shops , places to eat, everything is at your finger tips.

"Awesome"
pram0s, 13 Janvier 2020

I dont usually do reviews but for this stay I just had to. It is a great hotel to stay in. The entire staff was really nice and helpful especially the receptionist at check in. Hotel is walking distance from Alamodome and not to far from river walk.

"They gave you incorrect receipt!"
Reginamoon, 12 Janvier 2020

I paid with my travel card. But the receipt said I paid cash which is not true. I contacted the hotel and said I need a receipt that can prove that I paid with my travel card so that I can reimburse. They told me that it is how their system works, and they cannot help. For those who need to submit your receipt using your work card, BE AWARE OF THEIR SYSTEM. They are not willing to address the problem nor help you.

"pleasant stay"
meiyixenia, 08 Janvier 2020

Overall, hotel is clean, staff are helpful and within walking distance to the Riverwalk. I love the ceramic dinnerware that are used for breakfast rather than plastic or stryoform stuff. They still have some paper cups for people who like to take drink on the go but I am still very impressed with their environmentally conscious mind set.

"Great Location"
mrsheadguess, 07 Janvier 2020

Not only is this Best Western in a great location, but the staff is 5 STARS. Warm and friendly from front desk to housekeeping. Not to mention their breakfast is spot on. We really enjoyed our stay and it's wali g distance to the River Walk and the Mall. A beautiful lobby, great staff and rooms and a breakfast that has something for everyone!

"Great value"
kbroederer, 06 Janvier 2020

Great staff that knows the area well with great recommendations, good knowledge and extremely helpful. Such a great value with perfect location, helpful staff, and clean hotel. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

"Close to everything!"
Mary L, 02 Janvier 2020

Only a block and half from the Riverwalk, this is a roomy, quiet and historic hotel that lets you relax and still be in the center of things. The Alamodome and Sunset Station are just steps away, as are many bars and restaurants, plus shopping is fantastic in the mall at the nearby at River Center.

"Great location, but service was lacking"
traveladdict405, 27 Décembre 2019

LOCATION: The hotel looks very nice. It's within walking distance of all the downtown tourist attractions. THE ROOMS: The room was spacious. We had 2 beds and a sofa bed. The phone in our room didn't work, so the front desk said a technician will be in the room the following day to fix it. But no one ever showed up. STAFF: The employees were not necessarily rude, but they weren't very friendly either. It seems like they need some customer service training. PARKING: There is a parking fee of about $15 per night. There are only about 20 parking spots available. When those parking spots fill up, you have to park in a parking garage down the street. It is about a one-and-a half blocks from the actual hotel. BREAKFAST: The breakfast was decent. However, they started shutting down the food 30 minutes before the cutoff time. HOUSEKEEPING: For some reason, our room was not cleaned during our 2-night stay. And we didnt have a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door either. Since we never received housecleaning services, we had to go ask the front desk for clean towels and toilet paper. CHECKOUT: , I asked the front desk employee for a printout of my final room bill. She told me since I booked the room through Hotels dot com, I would need to contact Hotels dot com in order to get a receipt of my final room bill. I thought that was ridiculous because I always book my Best Western hotels through Hotels dot com and I've never had an issue with the hotel giving me a printout of my bill.

"Good value and good location"
SuzieLee71, 22 Décembre 2019

This is a terrific hotel in a great location just a short walk from the Riverwalk and Downtown. The hotel is decorated beautifully with heavy wooden furniture, hardwood floors and good carpet in the lobby and bedrooms. We really enjoyed the breakfasts (particularly the hot salsa) and we loved that the hotel uses real crockery and cutlery. We had a king suite which was palatial – it had a sitting area and a separate sink in the kitchenette/bar area. Our only gripe was that the lighting was insufficient in the room – there were no ceiling lights – just several lamps. This is highly recommended.

"Vacation"
smewborn59, 21 Décembre 2019

Vacation Time with my husband. We are not experienced vacationers and are very leary of where we stay but we have had a very pleasant experience with Best Western. It was noisy at this one in San Antonio but to be expected I suppose with it being in the city but the hotel itself and the staff was very nice.

"Nice hotel, desk staff needs some training."
cptbligh2019, 19 Décembre 2019

Front desk staff could use some training. The night desk person was very nice. Only 1 cup of coffee for the room. Had to ask for another packet for my wife. Exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work at all. The room was dark with dim lighting. Was treated much better at the Wyndham.

"Beautiful place"
Txtravler51, 24 Novembre 2019

We didn't recognize it at first because it doesn't look like the normal Best Westerns. Beautiful property inside and out. It felt warm and home like instead of the modern places which can look like a hospital. Alyson was the front desk clerk which was so professional and sweet. Enjoyed my rewards member gift bag. We will be back!

"Good value for San Antonio River Walk"
I4568URjamesb, 17 Novembre 2019

The motel has great rooms and is just 2 blocks from the beginning of the hotel area of the River Walk so it is a great value compared to them, especially with the complementary breakfast. I don't know why but I had the best nights' sleep ever with nice pillows and quiet AC/heating.

"Great stay"
Garjud, 08 Novembre 2019

Great staff. Good location for walking San Antonio. You can easily walk the entire Riverwalk as well as downtown. Two days were rainy so we went to afternoon movies in the nearby theatre. Large mall very close

"Good location for Alamodome"
jen850, 07 Novembre 2019

This is a fine choice if you are attending an event at the Alamodome. Very easy walk on well-lit streets. The traffic noise is more than I prefer, and the lighting within the room itself is very dim. The TV was weirdly tiny, and the tiles in the bathroom may have been the ugliest I've ever seen. But it was clean, safe, and convenient.

The worst stay ever except Vegas Winn 2009 next to elevator. Loud, rundown, dies not earn Plus recommendation. I have 500k points. Seen many hotels and motels. I once lived in the BW George west Texas from 2006 thru spring of 2013.

"Location and Ease"
268dougp, 04 Novembre 2019

We were in town for a Band Super Regional competition at the Alamodome. Dome was a five minute walk and the Riverwalk with all of its shops and incredible food was a quick and easy 10 minute walk. The great part is we were able to park our car at the hotel and everything we needed was in walking distance. We even ventured to the Market...only a mile away. Location and Ease matters.

"Stayed here for Bands of America Competition"
DogsLife3804, 04 Novembre 2019

First the positives: The location was convenient to the Alamodome and there was ample parking in a nearby garage. The front desk clerk was courteous and did his best on a busy weekend. The breakfast was decent and exceeded my expectations. Disappointments: I was most disappointed by the level of filth in the hall that extended in to room. The carpets were disgusting and the walls and light switch plates were dirty and some were broken. The air wasn't working properly and after an employee came up to investigate it was not solved and we were told we may be able to move to another room but the hotel was booked. We opened a window but our room was right on the freeway onramp and there were racing cars and motorcycles with loud engine noises until 3AM. The tile grout and floor molding in the bathroom was filthy. The foot boards on the bed were filled with some sort of splatters that had then been layered in dust. The floor outside the elevator was covered in a wood grained vinyl flooring and underneath the concrete subfloor was cracked and crumbled this crack extended under the carpet all the way down the hall of the 3rd floor.

"Probably the best hotel near the riverwalk for the price"
nontexan, 26 Octobre 2019

Good location, a very short walk to the Rivercenter mall. Price was great, and the price for parking was better than any neighboring properties. Room was great, staff was great, breakfast was good. Our new default location for San Antonio trips.

"San Antonio trip"
Passport521704, 26 Octobre 2019

From desk staff, especially Andres Castillo, were exceptional. The hotel is within walking distance of Alamo, and Tower of America's and Riverwalk. The trolley stop is very close by maybe 500 feet away. Would definitely stay here again if in San Antonio.

"Great location and very convenient"
Macopolo88, 24 Octobre 2019

I wish I could remember the names of all the staff members that assisted us during our stay in San Antonio! Every one of them provided informative answers to the questions I had. The hotel had that old Western look, which I didn't mind at all. After all, it is Texas. Our room was large and very clean. The location is perfect for tourists since it is within walking distance to the Riverwalk and a few attractions; for example, the Alamo, the convention center, Tower of the Americas, etc. I am very glad breakfast is complimentary.

"Great location for convention center"
paticcbba, 23 Octobre 2019

Alyson at the front desk made me feel very welcome! She's very gracious and friendly. The room was large and clean. I liked the oak furniture; it had a real western feel. I was on the street side, first floor so traffic was a little noisy, but I did not ask for another room.

"Great location for Amtrak travellers"
FranklinDcat, 19 Octobre 2019

Rick and the front desk team made us feel welcome the moment we checked in late after gettifng off the train. The station is a 4 minute walk away, so easy to get ro and has a VIA trolley stop outside to get you on the downtown loop. $3.25 for a day pass. The hotel itself is clean if a bit dated, and I wasn't a fan of the 4 poster bed with rather firm matress. However the King rooms are spacious and have all the amenities I needed. Breakfast was great with a good selection to choose from. I enjoyed my stay.

"Satisfy"
Ananoyola90, 07 Octobre 2019

the breakfast is a most, its clean, quite and good location hotel. It looks old fashion mix with a little of business look. The restroom didnt have a lock which that was a problem other then that the room was ok

"Great Location - be wary of parking add in and breakfast restriction"
D6307CHmichaeli, 30 Septembre 2019

The hotels is nice and clean - good location.I had a problem with the parking however. At check in, the clerk told me the parking was included in the base room rate, upon check out I found out that it was $15/day. my mistake for not noticing it when initialed things on check in but I was going by what the clerk said. The other thing that they have a restriction on taking breakfast food to the rooms.

"Pleasant surprise"
Thomas R, 28 Septembre 2019

The location is great if you are wanting to go to the S.A. Riverwalk or the Convention Center. Then the hotel itself is very nice on the inside. The service was excellent and very friendly. The rooms are clean, nice, and comfortable. Highly recommend the hotel and I plan on staying here for annual convention next year.

Hotel is in an excellent location for all the main sights. Rooms need updating badly as furnishings and coverings are so old they are dingy. Great breakfast. Loved the washing facilities onsite for guests.

"great location"

great location, everything is handy, Alamo, places to eat and of course the river walk a few minutes away walking. Staff very polite and friendly when we go to San Antonio we always stay at the Best Western

"Enjoyable stay"
goodeats159, 20 Août 2019

We had a really excellent experience at this hotel. The staff was so very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The continental breakfast was perfect always had enough food. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again

"I always come here when I stay in San Antonio"
musicteacher29, 29 Juillet 2019

I always come here for a music convention and I am always happy staying here. It is less than a five minute walk to the convention center. It is way better than staying on the riverwalk where hundreds of people walk through and there is a lot of noise. There breakfast is always good and the workers are sso kind!

"close to major attractions"
Elizabethfirst, 28 Juillet 2019

This is a basic Best Western Plus with a good hot breakfast, clean room, polite staff, a basic business center, etc. It is close to major attractions but be aware that it is on the other side of the highway, and I would not recommend walking under the bridge at night. The room is somewhat dark. There are several lamps, but the light bulbs could use a higher number of watts.

"Our First Choice for downtown/Riverwalk stays in San Antonio"
Sightsee18008597952, 13 Juillet 2019

Have stayed in this hotel more than once and the quality of the stay can vary. The first stay there several years ago, I would have rated BW Plus Sunset Suites Five-Stars. Have stayed there since, but the last time we stayed there, was very different. I strongly recommend staying in the parking lot side of the hotel instead of the street side. The street side can be very noisy all night long - especially if you have what sounds like an entire herd of elephants staying in the room above you :( With that said, I love this hotel's location, decor and the breakfast is usually excellent. The rooms are all well-equipped and the wi-fi is usually dependable. It's not the cheapest hotel available but certainly far from the most expensive. I rate them 5-stars for total value.

"RUDE! RUDE! RUDE!"
Amanda L, 08 Juillet 2019

Stephanie at the front desk was nice checking in and waved the parking once we pointed out how unfortunate it was to not have a pool on top of having to pay for off-site parking. She also let us know that breakfast ran to 930 weekdays and 1030 weekends, its actually 10am but, not knowing this, I arrived at 10:15. All the food was out, no one was cleaning up and multiple tables were still there. I got food and began eating when my sister-in-law arrived around 10:25. She looked around for a bowl, then asked the waitress, Carmen, for one (food was all still out.) when Carmen, VERY RUDELY, stares at her and says "We're closed!" My sister says, "Well, the food is still out. Can I have some?" Carmen:"I'll give you a bowl, but we are closed." So I say, I was told breakfast ended at 10:30. She argues with us to the point that we are just baffled. Then she begins talking to the other waiter (loudly, so we are sure to hear) that it's not her fault people wake up late and still want food. I couldn't believe she was acting like this and told her she didn't have to be rude, especially since I was told the incorrect hours. She snaps at me "We close at 10! And I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to him". I said "Yes, but you were purposely talking to him loud enough for us to hear. So, stop being rude!" At this point, I had looked over at Sylvia, the girl at the front desk, 4 or 5 times. She just started at us and made no attempt to diffuse the situation. Thinking all of this was over, we take our plates (foam to-go plates and to-go coffee cups) to our room. Carmen stares from the prep room as we walk by. She did not smile, try to apologize, NOTHING to rectify what had just happened. Instead, she waits a minute then comes out and says that we aren't allowed to have food in our rooms. The same rooms that have a microwave and refrigerator! Then she runs to Sylvia, who finally decides to get involved, and yells that we aren't able to take our food. We obviously did not want to eat around them like prisoners, and did believe they were just messing with us since it is obvious you are able to have food in your room, so we just said thank you and went in the elevator up to our room. Once in the room, we tell my husband what happened. He called Sylvia, only to have her start explaining why she and Carmen were correct in being so rude to us. Then she said we were going to be charged for taking food up to our room. I went downstairs to talk to Sylvia about why we would be charged and saw her and Carmen in the kitchen prep room basically getting their story straight. I wanted to ask why I would be charged but she was just explaining why she and Carmen were right to act the way they did. I asked why she didn't do anything when she saw Carmen being rude and she said it was none of her business because she is not her boss. I tried to explain to her that I don't know their hotel hierarchy and if anyone has a problem, they speak to the front desk and ask for the manager. Her manager wasn't there, so she should be in charge of diffusing the situation. She exclaimed she was not and would never be a manager. I was upset and said it was because kids these days don't want responsibility. She starts yelling and cussing at me that she "is a grown-ass woman" repeatedly, not allowing me to speak so I walked away to the front desk and told her I didn't want to deal with someone unwilling to have a conversation and I wasn't there to listen to someone try to cover their mistakes and to please call the mngr, Ana, who was coming later. A few minutes later, I see Norma, the "acting mngr" who was NEVER contacted during this event. She apologized for everything and offered to wave our last night there. I said that would be nice but I would have to speak with my husband. In the meantime, Ana tells my husband she has to "investigate" and would call us when she made a decision. Its been 3 days with NO CONTACT and we were charged for everything! PLUS, Ana told the girl to tell us she attempted to call us 3 or 4 times the first night, though we had no missed calls and no voicemails.

"3 blocks from Riverwalk area"
sitcomone1, 05 Juillet 2019

Very nice. Western design. Nice breakfast. Perfect for families. Price wasn't too bad. If you don't mind being a few blocks from the Riverwalk ; it's ideal. Save the parking hassle and leave your car at the hotel; it's really not that far from the Riverwalk. I recommend this hotel if you don't want to pay Riverwalk hotel prices.

"Great value near the Riverwalk"
921adriennen, 14 Juin 2019

We were pleased with this hotel. The lobby is charming, being original to the building. The rooms are typical for Best Western, but were spacious, clean and comfortable. This is easy walking distance to the Riverwalk, and not as expensive.

They will Nickle and Dime you to death with taxes, fees and parking. They charge different taxes and fees and all they say is that everybody has to pay them. Then they charge you over $16.00 a day to park in their parking small parking lot which is always full and force you to park you vehicle in a public parking lot blocks away.

"Nice Property"
JoeRay60, 01 Juin 2019

Nice property, no pool however I was surprised to see them run a skeleton crew on Memorial Day weekend with housekeeping and front desk reception. This caused a substantial backup with check in and room readiness

"Stay during conference"
marlicar, 23 Mai 2019

I picked this hotel for its Mission style decor. Although it is located in an older part of town and is not one of the expensive downtown hotels, it is a short walking distance to the convention center. The room was clean, quiet and when I pointed out two room issues to the front desk, they were taken care of by the time I got back to my room. Breakfast has multiple choices. The room rate allowed me to stay in budget. I would book this hotel again.

"Desperate for a room"
Roadrunner4C7, 13 Mai 2019

We were rescued by this BW property. We arrived by Amtrak Texas Eagle and thought we had a room at the Staybridge Sunset Hotel. WRONG, they had cancelled it because my credit card had been reissued with a new number. There were no rooms available. Staybridge called around and found a vacancy at the BW Sunset Suites. We walked the two blocks at 11:30 p.m. with no problems and checked in. There were two very fine members of the staff there to greet us. Having never stayed there we were unsure if we would like it. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at the size and cleanliness of the room. The complementary breakfast was great and very tasty. The location is great as it is located 2 blocks from train station and only 2 sor 3 blocks from the Riverwalk, shopping, and Tower of the Americas. Easy walking with wide sidewalks and crosswalks protected with signals. Very little noise from the traffic if you are on back side although you are overlooking the Interstate.

"AC not working"
Roving34070859103, 13 Mai 2019

Make sure AC unit is working properly and if not do not book room to other guest. I was very hot and it was unpleasant night to sleep in. I appreciated the location but it was a warm night in my hotel room

"Do not park in their parking Lot!"
Tex42_10, 09 Mai 2019

Adequate budget hotel with rude staff and shady surroundings. Enjoy!! Also the most bird droppings I have ever seen in one location in this parking lot. No signs, no warnings, just a bucket and a rag.

"close to river walk"
Inspire25798459897, 09 Mai 2019

Great quiet place. Within walking distance to the river walk as well as Towers of America. Good breakfast options. And great staff! Would recommend this hotel if you don't want to stay directly on river walk. Price was great too!

"Beautifully renovated old building...great decor, clean and comfy!"
Kathy B, 05 Mai 2019

Loved this hotel, but don't let "Riverwalk" in the title fool you..that's deceiving if you think it's on the Riverwalk because it's across the freeway from it. Not sure why they put that in the title, but there is a trolley station a few blocks away to take you to the Riverwalk area and the Mercado. The hotel itself is very stylish with Mission decor...very well done. The staff is VERY friendly, parking is nearby and 1/2 the price of hotels on the other side of the freeway and the room was very clean and comfy. I would highly recommend this hotel is walking the the riverwalk...about 10-15 minutes or to the trolley is not a problem for you. We really enjoyed our stay there. Breakfast was hearty and good and the wifi worked very well. All in all, a great place.

"Love the location, a hidden gem!"
Connector06335461677, 03 Mai 2019

Only suggestion, bring electronic chargers! None besides electric plugs. Love the price, location, convenience, staff, lots of walking around the area, easy access to highways, friendly folks, thank you!

Clean rooms, big rooms, friendly service, fair pricing, great location, near down town and the River Walk, great breakfast, near by to restaurants, bars, easy off and on from freeway, plenty of parking

"Clean and comfortable"
katyflower, 28 Avril 2019

We did not spend much time here. We checked in late and left early the next morning. Our suite was large and clean. The parking onsite was all taken so my husband had to drive over to a parking garage. We did not like that at such a late hour The young woman at the counter could not have been nicer! She was super polite and efficient The morning breakfast buffet had several choices. I just picked up a yogurt. My husband got coffee but had to pour it out. It was NOT good. All round... we would recommend this hotel and I bet it would be a nice walk to the river and other attractions or a quick Uber ride. We would recommend it for the $88 price.

"Located Across The Street From Convention Center"
gpbvkb, 19 Avril 2019

Stayed here due to being across the street from the convention center. Western-style room with a king-size bed (very comfortable). Didn't have time to have breakfast, but it looked good. Front-desk staff was wonderful and they called regarding my credit card on file. Quite thoughtful. Will return!

"Good locaion"
faythompson, 14 Avril 2019

Very nice hotel super big rooms with a massive bed and sitting room. Nice bedding and plenty of nice towels. Good in room coffee. A good breakfast and lots to choose from. Amazing super friendly staff who cannot help enough. Only one complaint would be the lighting in the room. There is no main light and even with all the lamps on it was very dim. This said I would definitely stay again.

"Great location"
VikramR422, 13 Avril 2019

Excellent location. Close to river walk. You can walk or use scooter to get to riverwalk area and to Alamo. Hotel needs cleaning though. My door lock gave me some trouble in night, had to go to counter 3 times. Overall nice

"Fine for a home base to sleep/shower.."
stacy m, 04 Avril 2019

Affordable, within walking distance to food and Riverwalk. Room was clean. Easy check in/out. Parking onsite is minimal- but free, however you get a code to park across street in a parking garage if needed. Hot breakfast is included, another money saver. Rooms/decor is old mission style furniture etc and building is very old, kind of cool because it fits the atmosphere of the Alamo and the Riverwalk- but not for you if your into modern decor/ clean crisp look, so to speak. We travelled here to visit our son on base etc and it was very close- just a few miles away, with easy freeway access. Overall, it was no frills, clean, and fit our needs for this particular trip.

"Decent stay, but had some issues"
mtcatsfan, 25 Mars 2019

We were there for a total of five nights. The hotel is clean, safe, and the staff that we interacted with were friendly. The breakfast is standard continental options, but was nice to have right there and not have to go out for at least one meal during the day, and it was good. Uber pickup/dropoff right in front of hotel worked great. A few things that contributed to my average rating: 1) Neither phone in our room worked the entire stay. Front desk was informed day 1 as we had to call with our cell phone to confirm the WIFI password. 2) Housekeeping skipped our room the 2nd day we were there. 3) On the 2nd day, the elevator broke and was unavailable the rest of our stay. Of course, we were on the top floor. 4) If you book a room, ask for the side that is not against the street. Morning traffic was loud. 5) Had an item delivered to the front desk and was never told it was there by hotel staff, so I had to call after I got home (and confirmed the item was, in fact, left for me) and ask the hotel to mail it. The location was convenient - a short couple of blocks to the Riverwalk, Tower of the Americas and other downtown options. Again, felt very safe. Would I stay here again? Maybe. But with all the other options out there, I'd probably look to see what else was out there at a comparable price.

"Expected better from a Best Western"
Explorer24073048527, 16 Mars 2019

I took the train to San Antonio, and arrived at the hotel about 8 or 9 am Sunday morning. I had sent an email telling them of my early arrival. I knew the hotel had been sold out the night before so, even though I sent them an email advising them of my early arrival, I did not expect a room to be ready at this early hour. I sat around for an hour, and then took the trolley around the city. When I came back about noon, I was told that there were still no rooms ready because a supervisor had to check after each room was cleaned (I don't believe this). Very shortly thereafter, a man checked in. I went up to the desk and they said nothing was ready. A mentioned the man and just got silence. About an hour later, they *allowed* me to check in. Very poor service indeed. Everything else about the hotel was okay, but this is the worst check-in experience I have ever had in decades of travelling.

"Great breakfast, Within walking distance of riverwalk, mall & conference center."
MsBPasadena, 11 Mars 2019

Had a problem with AC/Heat but was quickly given another room. Computer chair in 1st room was torn & unsteady. WI FI decent for a hotel. Clean room with fridge, microwave, ironing board, hairdryer, comfortable bed & a great breakfast. Friendly staff. Near trolley stop. Some toiletries provided if you forgot to pack. Suite with king, couch, computer chair & armchair. Waited an hour for our room to be cleaned or 45 minutes after check in time. .

"Basic. Basically the minimum (effort, emenities, information, location, facilities)."
G b, 05 Mars 2019

The hotel is not in the best of areas. The location is at an onramp to the highway and an underpass which tends to amplify car noise- as well as proximity to the rail road line. It can be very loud at night. Speaking of loud - the walls and ceilings are paper thin. We had a room on the 1st floor and the 2nd floor party sounded like they were intentionally jumping up and down on their floor (which they most likely were not even aware of the noise). We got moved to the 4th floor where it was only the neighboring rooms and elevator that could be heard. There are no amenities. If you happen to catch breakfast late, but while it's out you will likely be asked to leave the area for cleaning (we were, but grabbed the coffee we wanted anyway). Coffee- there is a little coffee maker in the room- there is only a one cup serving offered at any one time. We were two adults. We drink coffee. The fixtures are dated and water damage was evident along the base of the bathroom walls (particularly at the door jams) in both the rooms we stayed in; so, there may very well be a corresponding mold issue in the walls - we did not detect any smell but there was discoloration in both rooms (101 and 403). You don't want to park in the lot nearest the hotel portion, buy the large tree. We saw numerous vehicles absolutely COVERED in bird poop from the Grackels that roost there. They are a territorial, migratory bird about the size of a small crow and there are a lot of them. A white suburban and a few pickups were just covered in poop from the birds. We were told that there was complimentary parking in a garage across the street. We parked there- it ended up costing us $65 dollars. Now most of the service staff were very polite and engaging. We certainly left the housekeeper a tip. There are other minor issues like the slow and unsecured internet, limited TV choices- the highly annoying lighting - it was really dark in the room. They only have lamps. It must have cost more to install overhead lights, as well as properly insulate the walls and floor/ceilings - all in all it was built to make a buck for the owners (and it shows). I will say that the primary office building is a cool old historical structure- but are on the edge of the city and where you intend to be going. I would find something that is ACTUALLY Riverwalk next time. It's not anywhere near the river walk.

"Great location"
Trent H, 05 Mars 2019

This is a great location for Alamodome and Riverwalk. It is older, but don't have all the kids running around that you do at other locations. A little expensive, but worth it if you want to be able to walk to the Alamodome or Riverwalk (or ride a scooter!)

"Very nice hotel,very good Staff"
Dennis D, 13 Février 2019

My Wife and I had a very nice room and the staff people were a Great help making our stay very comfortable, The day clerk and night clerk were very helpful. the river walk was within walking distance from the hotel also the Alamo was easy to find on our outing. There are plenty of shops and a cafe to have a very good lunch

"Not a 'Plus' in my opinion"
Deb A, 10 Février 2019

Start with the good: Location! you can easily walk to convention, riverwalk, the stadium. Room size is good - but lighting is horrible. These rooms need brighter bulbs, and minimum of 3 tall lamps installed. We kept our curtains open for light from the streetlamp. We had to bring plastic glasses up from breakfast for the bathrooms. Coffee replacement was not good. We managed on day 1 to get more from a cart, day 2 the lady at the front desk managed to get into the maids area and get us coffee. The next 2 nights the young man on duty said no access to maids area - but coffee available in the lobby. 2 mornings I had to go down in my bathrobe to get us coffee! Thankfully only a handful of people were already up. Until the last night we only had 1 washcloth - then they gave us 3. Wifi was slow - but kind of like any other hotel.

"Loscation and value"

You get what you ay for, but if you need location and economy, this works while in San Antonio. Dark rooms and underwhelming breakfast, but right next to the conference center and walking distance from the Riverwalk

"Very nice hotel, great staff!"
Trail39813055265, 27 Janvier 2019

Service was excellent, breakfest was as expected, and the hotel atmosphere was excellent, it was also located close to many tourist attractions and resturaunts, bars etc.. I would definetly stay here again in the future.

"Was Pleasantly Surprised!"
SteveinTX, 15 Janvier 2019

My wife and I stayed here for the Alamo Bowl. It is located within walking distance of the Alamo Dome and San Antonio's Riverwalk. It was quiet and clean. Would highly recommend staying here since so many of the sites of San Antonio are within walking distance.

"Great Value - Good Breakfast!"
StlBluesTraveler, 14 Janvier 2019

We stayed here for a wedding in November. I found the accommodations to be perfectly acceptable for the price. Everything worked, everything was clean, everything was plenty comfortable for my tastes, staff was friendly. Breakfast in the dining room was surprisingly good and what I would describe as "continental plus", i.e. your usual continental fare plus eggs, b&g's, and a meat (ham one day, bacon the other). Definitely a highlight for me. I'm a breakfast guy :) Location was also great. Just enough off the beaten path to get you a good price, but still walk-able to downtown, the river walk, etc. A few cons (sort of): The gym and conference/banquet rooms are overhead and there happened to be a gaggle of unruly children running around at inconceivable hours while we were there. It was a TOUCH on the noisy side. I threw some white noise on our Bluetooth speaker and that was enough to pretty much drown it out. Mildly annoying but it speaks more to those individual guests than it does to the hotel. Also, it's a bit on the old side and it shows. Nothing detrimental, broken, or unsanitary. Just a little worn and/or rough around the edges. It is what it is. You're getting this value for a reason. Don't be a snob. If you want the Ritz, go stay there. In summary, as travelers we're not big on spending a ton of money on a place to crash. I like to funnel that money into the things we're doing during the 90% of time we're NOT in a hotel room. Little value spots like this allow us to do that, and every now and then you even get a good breakfast out of the deal. Would recommend, and would stay here again.

"Parking"
randy3357, 11 Janvier 2019

It was disappointing to arrange and pay for my stay in advance only to be advised I would be charged for parking even though their website identified parking as an amenity. It was also disconcerting to find the room I had secured was significantly discounted a couple of days later but I was advised my reservation was non-refundable and nothing could be done. On my final day i had a very early flight and was disappointed when I returned to my room around 3:30pm to find that housekeeping hadn't been there yet.

"Great customer service and beautiful room"
Connector64163032043, 26 Décembre 2018

"Horrible"
Safari27493318828, 26 Décembre 2018

Very horrible was over charged when I paid on line he changed the amount I paid to even more ac wasn't working and lighting is horrible didn't even have the room we originally choose then on top of that it was noisy

"Great value and close to the riverwalk"
Yoopr, 20 Décembre 2018

Hotel was a better value than we usually get for the price. The location was a few blocks from the river walk and we felt safe walking back and forth after dark. It was exactly what we were looking for. Would stay again.

"GREAT STAY! Will stay there again if in the area."
Lea R, 20 Novembre 2018

We had a great stay at the Best Western Plus Sunset Suites-Riverwalk. We considered staying longer but work called, otherwise we would have loved to have extended our stay. We loved the mission style decor of our room and the service was excellent. Most importantly it was perfectly clean. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Location location location"
190celestem, 19 Novembre 2018

We had our prophet speaking at the Alamodome, and knew traffic and parking would be a challenge. We were a short walk away. It is a 19th century building, but a nice modern room. Breakfast was standard free breakfast but quickly attended to when needed. The help was very courteous.

"Bed Crawling, Horrible Treatment from Management"
Lorraine B, 16 Novembre 2018

After travelling for two days we checked into our room and exhausted we fell into bed. After a short time my husband woke me something was wrong, his eyes and face were stinging. Turning on the light we discovered that his pillow and the bed were virtually alive with hundreds of ants. We hastily got up, stripped and decontaminated ourselves. Then upon phoning the front desk we were asked to to pick up a key for a different room which we did. It took up quite a time to repack, making sure we weren't going to be transporting the problem to our new room. We were both bitten and traumatized, my husband especially around the eyes which bothered him for at least 2 days! Our total sleep in the two rooms could not have exceeded three hours that night and ruining our first day in San Antonio, being so tired. We understand that these unforeseen things happen but what we do have a complaint about is the treatment we received from the on duty manager at the time. Although she did apologize, she was not about to listen to what we had been through and had only been informed about the incident by staff and not how bad it actually was. We stated that we felt that we should not be obligated to pay for a virtually sleepless night but all she would offer was free parking, really not to our satisfaction . and more of a slap in the face. Not wanting to ruin the rest of our stay we let it ride. When we checked out and there was no credit at all on our bill and no manager to talk to. The clerk said he could do nothing for us without losing his job. As we were doing our final pack, he phoned the room and said he could offer one night's parking credit but that's all. Clearly he had been in touch with someone. We take exception to the fact that the manger was very unsympathetic to us and then lied about crediting us. We do see a further parking credit on our card but we still feel this is unsatisfactory for what we went through.

"Close to Good Things,Walking can be tough"
S5722ZSsteved, 15 Novembre 2018

Sorry it took a while to review this place, but here goes. Very spacious clean rooms, extremely friendly staff. Quirky layout, being an old bank kind of gussied up, ie. the elevator getting to the fitness room. Not a problem, just odd. Had I had a knee not screwed at the time, easy walking distance to just about everything. Even then still quite doable. Breakfast really all you could want (try the Texas shaped waffles). My only real "complaint" was having to walk a 1/2 mile to buy a 6 pack. We only needed to rent a car 1 day, but easily could see a lot of trips around the area might make renting a car and paying for parking well worth it .Hop on Hop off well worth it, Riverwalk only 1/4 mile from hotel needs to be experienced to understand just how good it is.Price of the hotel very reasonable, GOOD place to stay. If we ever make it back here, we'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Great value!

"Great Hotel close to the Convention Centre"
Rob M, 04 Novembre 2018

This is modest hotel close to the convention center. Breakfast in the morning was included and reasonable. It had everything I would want for breakfast. The rooms were large with a king bed and extra sitting area. It lacked overhead lighting and the window were far from sound proof. It was however excellent value for the money.

"Nice and close to Riverwalk"
GatorinKY, 23 Octobre 2018

This hotel is not right on the river walk but is very close to it and other downtown historic sites such as the Alamo. Parking is extra at this hotel . The rooms are very nice size but the lighting is poor, even with all the lights on, could use an overhead light. The beds were comfortable . The towels were great and the bathroom was clean and hot water came quick. The breakfast is about what you expect in a hotel, but it was nice that they had real plates and sliverware instead of paper. The staff was super nice and helpful.

"Great staff close to most everything"
Tom H, 16 Octobre 2018

This hotel is not right on the river walk but is very close to it and other downtown historic sites such as the Alamo. Parking is extra at this hotel unless you are an upper tier member of the rewards program. For the hotel itself it could use a little updating as the carpet is old and not real clean. The rooms are very nice size but the lighting is poor. It was nice they had usb ports to charge phone (especially since I forgot my 110v plugin). The beds were comfortable and the only issue I found was noise at night. Was woke up several times from outside noise and room above us the person was stomping the floor for about an hour one night. The towels were great and the bathroom was clean and hot water came quick. The breakfast is well done and a good assortment of items from waffles to eggs/bacom/sausage and cereals, yogurts, and fruits.

"Clean & People friendly"
popcorn0609, 15 Octobre 2018

The rooms were so clean and smelled so good. Couldn't ask for a better breakfast. The service from check-in to check-out was amazing. The desk clerk was nice and so helpful. Maid service was great. Will stay again.

"Mini get away turned into financial NIGHTMARE"
myracalligan88, 12 Octobre 2018

Overall, this hotel was exactly as presented. We never had problems with parking, but we walked everywhere within walking distance. The staff was indeed friendly and the room was indeed clean. HOWEVER, This is where my complaint starts and why I am rating this facility a 1! We checked in Sept 27th and checked out at 6am SEPTEMBER 30TH. Now, the hotel upon check in collected a deposit that was pre-auth and the hold was supposed to be released 2-3 business days after checked out. The third day passes and my funds were never released back into my checking acct. I tried to give the hotel time (for human error or emergency situations that could cause a delay). I initially contacted the hotel on October 5th and spoke to a gentleman named Jacob who gave the phone to a young man named Chris. He listens to my complaint and stated that the hotel returned my funds on September 30th (which was not the case). He then requests for me to e-mail proof of my statement showing the funds pending. I emailed him and contacted him back. He stated that he did receive my email and that he had already forwarded the email to management. He continuously apologized and stated that he wasn't quiet sure why my funds never returned into my account. He asked for me to give it until the next Monday (October 7th). Well, Monday approached and my funds were still not there. I contacted him back that afternoon and he stated that there is nothing he could do. I requested to speak to a manager and he stated that there was no upper management or anyone I could speak to at this time. He said that the manager would be in on the 9th and that he took all my information down so that the manager would get to this and then he hung up before I could give him my contact number. It is now, OCTOBER 12, 2018 and the funds are still not released back into my account! This is completely unacceptable and very unprofessional!

"Very nice hotel is a very convenient location"
highrez, 24 Septembre 2018

Great place to stay in a super convenient location. The hotel is well kept with very friendly staff. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to San Antonio.

"Nice hotel, great for the price"
Scar_jeviscachee, 24 Septembre 2018

The staff were very friendly and helpful when I arrived. I happened to mention that I'd just stayed in a noisy hotel elsewhere and hadn't enjoyed it, so they specifically gave me a quiet room which I really appreciated! The room itself was an excellent size with great facilities (fridge, sink, microwave, desk etc.) and I could have happily stayed longer. It could have done with a deep clean though and two of the days I was there the housekeeping team didn't clean the room or change the bins.

"Short Trip"
Virginia G, 16 Septembre 2018

WOW What a fabulous place to stay. I would definitely recommend this motel to my friends. I will go back to San Antonio and when I do I will be staying here! Its a very beautiful place. Our room was amazing. Plus it's a hope skip and jump to the Riverwalk.

"Very clean hotel room!"
Christina F, 10 Septembre 2018

The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the riverwalk and has lots of parking. Very clean with excellent front desk service. Rooms are large and I like that ours had a separate vanity from the shower area.

"Amazing"
M2280VYrachelh, 04 Septembre 2018

I have never stayed at a Best Western hotel chain before but gosh I wish I have done this for any other trip. This is the most friendliest hotel I have been to as of yet. Definitely worth every penny!

"Great Find, Great Location"
TimandKayla, 31 Août 2018

We stumbled upon this hotel when we had to attend a convention in San Antonio. The convention discount rates at the hotels recommended by our convention organizers were all outside our price range so we did some shopping and found this gem. It cost us less per night and is just minutes from the Convention Center and River Walk. The decor is perfect for San Antonio with lots of wood flooring in the lobby and nice old-Texas touches in the rooms. The staff was super friendly, the morning breakfast was right on par, and we couldn't beat the location and price. There is a fee for parking added to your room, but it's very fair and will save you the hassle and expense of finding and paying for parking in downtown. With all our destinations within walking distance, didn't need our car until it was time to leave. We will certainly stay here again.

"Great location and very nice hotel"
David M, 27 Août 2018

San Antonio has something for everyone and Best Western Hotel sits right on the same street of many attractions. Riverwalk and Alamo are both walkable. Only downfall if any is no pool. Great breakfast buffet.

"Great place to Stay"
Kay M, 27 Août 2018

Great place to stay. Large suites with mini kitchen large living room. Comfy beds. Very clean. Fresh towels everyday. Toiletries available. Hair dryer. Complimentary wonderful breakfast every AM. Lots of choices for all apetites. Homemade waffles in the shape of Texas! Within walking distance of attractions( long walk)

"OK but nothing special"
teaki78089, 20 Août 2018

Not sure why this is a PLUS hotel within the Best Western Group. This is an OK hotel but nothing special. No pool and no workout room. The walk to the Riverwalk leads under a shady bridge of the Interstate with drug addicts sleeping at night. Breakfast is OK and I like that you can get real plates and silverware. But usually you have to wait for a free table because the sitting area is too small. As Diamond member I got the outside parking for free but I saw other people complaining about the 12.50$ price tag per night. Especially because the parking is not safe - we saw some cars with broken in windows. Our room was not ready at 3pm so we went to the Riverwalk first. When we returned around 5pm we were able to go to our room. We had a backwards facing top floor room which was quiet. Even the staff told us that the lower rooms are loud. However the top floor rooms do not have internet access and there is only one of two elevators reaching there. I think there are better hotels in distance to the Riverwalk than this one.

"My new favorite in San Antonio."
HelenF1010, 19 Août 2018

Easy access from highway but nice and quiet. The staff were so nice. The breakfast was hot and fresh. We're booked up for Christmas vacation! The price was a great deal compared to all the surrounding properties.

"Unrenovated Downtown"
LadyDolly4, 17 Août 2018

You get what you pay for and with that said I had no MAJOR issues. The hotel was located within walking distance to the River Walk and right off the bus line. Spacious rooms, hot and cold breakfast choices, WiFi ready, and helpful staff. Downside: the visitors above me were running or rough playing in their room late one night and I could hear them, my room was located closest to the street and could hear cars with loud music playing drive by, this is a older building so the lighting was not the best.

"Be careful"
thepetnannybrooks, 14 Août 2018

This hotel will take advantage of their customers. Fluctuating rates. I paid $50+ more per night than friends that were staying at the same time for same room. Beds weren't comfy, small pillows, no ceiling lights. No pool, internet was slow. Key cards not working. Just really unhappy that I'm a rewards member and had to pay $170/night when my friends were only paying $125 or lower. And yes I talked to the manager and all she did was refund me for parking. Which in my opinion should be included with your stay.

"Unruly Kids!!!"
SpecOps1722, 03 Août 2018

As a travel agent, I would not recommend staying on any floor below the 4th. I phoned the front desk, went in person to the front desk and made another cal regarding unruly kids making horrific noise in their room. We began to let the folks at the front desk know for over 30 minutes and to mo avail, we were told there wa as s nothing they could do but call and ask them to stop. This goes beyond ridiculous. Shame on you Best Western. Do not stay here unless it's the 4th floor.

"First visit to Texas"
Bill A, 01 Août 2018

My wife and I stayed here to go to the Drum Corps International competition at the Alamo dome. The hotel is furnished in mission style which we both like and was very comfortable also close to the river walk area. Highly recommend

"Good location - but you may want to avoid it"
CPaM68, 16 Juillet 2018

You should probably avoid the Best Western Plus Sunset Suites-Riverwalk unless you don't mind having your car towed, showering with cold water, drinking coffee in your room out of a dirty coffee pot, or having housekeeping clear your stuff out of the mini-fridge before you check out. On the first morning, I woke up around 7:30 to shower and found there was no hot water. When I called and reported it, they said that no one else had reported the problem but they would notify maintenance. The next day, I was up a 5:30 and had plenty of hot water but as I was checking out, two other people were complaining about not having hot water that morning. Apparently, it is a common occurrence that they run-out of hot water in the morning but they try and cover it up. On the day I arrived, I also found that the on-site parking lot was tiny and full of cars. As a result, they had me park at an off-site lot 3-4 blocks away. When I walked over the next morning to get something out of my car, it had a huge green sticker on the windshield saying that I was not supposed to be there and if it wasn't moved it would be towed by 10 A.M. When I went back to the front desk, I discovered that someone was supposed to have given me a receipt/paper to lay on my dash. The girl at the front desk must have thought I was trying to get an extra one for someone else and didn't want to give me one, but I put up enough of a fuss that she finally did. On our first night, I tried to heat some water in the coffee pot for tea but noticed a strange white substance mixed in the water in my cup. I heated more water and used the other cup but the white substance appeared again in the water. When I went to the front desk and asked for another coffee pot, the girl said they were all locked in the manager's office and they couldn't get me one until the next morning. When I left two and a half days later, they still had not replaced the pot in my room. Check out time was noon, but when I came back to the room at 11:30 to gather my stuff and check-out, housekeeping had already come in and cleaned the room. My clothes and suitcase were still there, but the stuff I had in the mini-fridge (snacks, cokes, 5 beers from a six-pack) were gone. When I questioned the cleaning staff, which was still working down the hall, they said that they had thrown everything away. Sure enough, everything was in the trash container on their cart. It was a good location, a good price, a nice enough building, a clean room, and not a bad breakfast - but it was not a good overall experience. Just know what you may be walking into. In my opinion, the Best Western Plus Sunset Suites-Riverwalk needs a new manager who can run it efficiently.

"Bed Bug, and No refund"
Won C, 15 Juillet 2018

I arrived at the Best Western Riverside Hotel late and checked in at 12:30 am. After washing, I sat at my desk to organize my papers but I couldn't concentrate on my work because I found bedbugs crawling on my sandal & leg. I felt a serious threat even though I didn't turn off the light yet on my bed. I immediately informed the front desk, repackaged, and left the hotel at 1:30 am. I found an another hotel, LaQuinta Inn & Suites, with difficulty because it was midnight. Next day I talked to the Manager of Best Western Hotel, Ana, and request a refund, but I was refused a refund, saying that she could not find bedbugs in that room and any signs of me lying in bed. It is a truly absurd experience and I still suffer from severe itching in several places near my left leg.

"Great location to Riverwalk"
michaelcS9068QQ, 09 Juillet 2018

Our room was very spacious. Breakfast was wonderful and the ladies were so kind and helpful in the dining area. There are two bus stops just steps out of the door. Easy getting anywhere on the Riverwalk. Will definitely stay there again.

"Nice"
Sosajb, 09 Juillet 2018

Good place to stay. Very clean. Walking distance of Alamo and other historical sights, Riverwalk. Nice breakfast included with stay. Pay for parking. No pool. Sundries type store ice cream bars bottled drinks personal items in nice lobby..

"Easy and quick walk to Alamo"
goandgi, 25 Juin 2018

A reasonably priced and clean hotel that includes a hot breakfast. Decor is tasteful Mission style throughout; the room could use more lighting at night, but all other amenities (bar, fridge, desk, bathroom) were fine. Wifi was not reliable, and front desk personnel was less than professional. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay.

"Second time just as good as the first..."
JJMLS, 21 Juin 2018

I LOVE this hotel. I know being a Best Western you dont expect as much from being as you would say, Hilton or Marriott but they are right on par with them both. Love the free breakfast/waffles. Comparable breakfast to Hampton. VERY convenient to the Alamodome AND Riverwalk/Alamo...both within an easy walking distance. The ONLY thing I dont like that they have changed is their booking procedures. I used to could book it like other hotels and it hold my reservation until a few days away but now they expect full payment the minute you book. I hate that. Given the fact that I dont know yet the exact number of days I need based on my kids band contest placements, I cant even book with this hotel now until I have exact dates and that's always iffy with school events. And by then it will be booked up and I wont be able to stay there. That's going to suck and that will be the first time in 3 years because they changed their booking policy. They will probably lose a loyal customer because of it.

"I love this hotel"
joyclark5, 18 Mai 2018

This hotel is conveniently located to the Riverwalk and downtown area. It just has a Southwestern feel and friendly atmosphere to it the moment you walk in the door. Check in was courteous and smooth. Our room was spacious and well laid out. Loved the real drinking glasses and coffee cups in our room. Comfy bed, and quiet nights sleep. Lovely breakfast area and hot breakfast. I look forward to my next visit when in San Antonio.

"Bullet hole?"
gottcoke, 17 Mai 2018

Wife and I spent 5 nights here. The first day we noticed a hole in outside window that sure looked like a bullet hole. I guess it wasn't really a BULLET but it was strange. I had gift cards to pay our bill and the girl at front desk took them and rang them in while we went to room. The hotel is about a half mile from the river walk and the center of the action. This is a nice place and even being ground level by the street it was not noisy at all. They serve a good breakfast and have a waffle machine that makes Texas size waffles. They are shaped like Texas so they are Texas size. They cleaned room daily and refreshed towels and soaps daily. It does get a little sketchy walking back to hotel with some of the homeless that can be hanging around the freeway underpass but we dealt with it with no problems but just be aware of people around you. I would stay here again but we may try to be more downtown next time. I found nothing wrong with our stay!

"Good location and friendly staff"
SydneyHappychap, 08 Mai 2018

Easy to find. Close to most attractions by foot. Room was a little dark but otherwise good. Staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. I think the only thing missing was a pool for the warm weather in S.A.

"Weekend birthday getaway"
boritx570, 07 Mai 2018

Was just ok. I was expecting more updated room (devices talking)and closer to the river walk, walking distance like 10 mins to get to the river walk. Breakfast need some bacon, sausages...for meat eaters :)

"Great little hidden gem"
stevensB355JG, 06 Mai 2018

Love this hotel - it has everything I want when when visiting San Antonio. The Riverwalk and Alamo are walkable distances. Yet since it's not right on the Riverwalk - you save a few bucks. Well designed rooms and common areas. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Close to Alamodome and Convention Center as well. Easy access to expressways as well. Only drawback I found is motorist noise in the evenings. Commerce Dr gets a few loud mufflers in the evenings and since the rooms are so close to the road, the noise comes right in - not an issue if you plan to stay late down at the Riverwalk.

"Functional Hotel in a Great Location"
Bill W, 26 Avril 2018

I stayed at Best Western for several nights during the Final Four and had a decent experience. The best thing the hotel has going for it is its location—it's close to everything! The River Walk, the Alamo, the Alamodome, the Tower of the Americas, and a ton of bars and restaurants are all an easy/short walk from the hotel. The hotel staff is also very friendly, professional, and helpful (with the exception of the heavy-set gentleman who works the night shift). Since it's warm and surprisingly humid in San Antonio, you'll also enjoy the fantastic air conditioning in the hotel and the rooms. The hotel itself is pretty basic with minimal frills. The most frustrating part of the stay was that the key lock on the room door took multiple attempts to unlock. Getting into the room was never easy. The rooms are a decent size, but the bathroom is tiny. However, the shower has refreshing water pressure! For some reason on the beds they give you 4 tiny pillows instead of 2 normal sized pillows (very annoying)?! If you have to iron anything, be warned that the ironing board in the room is below par. Also, the walls are super thin, so don't be surprised if you hear everything the people above or next to you are doing. Overall, if you can get the hotel for a reasonable rate, you'll love the location and courteous staff. Just don't expect trendy décor or a lot of modern amenities (for example, no electrical plugs next to the bed).

"Great Hotel near River Walk"
Debhw, 25 Avril 2018

Hotel was beautiful and convenient to the river walk plus price was great! We would stay here again. We had no problem with parking....had heard tales of this on Trip Advisor. We left the hotel by car once and did find a space available when we returned. We did discover there was a lot of road noise on the street side of the hotel and the insulation must not be great between floors because we could hear the people above us moving chairs, etc when we were in the room at night. These 2 things wouldn't keep me from staying here again though.

"Some Good, Some Bad"
MimiandPapa2862, 24 Avril 2018

We arrived earlier than the check-in time but expected that we could check in, leave our bags and not get into our room until later. This seemed not to be an option. Have stayed at Best Western hotels before and not had this problem. The clerk did tell us multiple times that we could pay a $50 fee to check in early and get a room since there were rooms available. ?? He also didn't seem to know where the hop-on bus stopped or have any other info. Now for the good news. The room was large, clean and very nice. Complimentary breakfast was excellent. The walk to the Alamo and Riverwalk was pleasant and not that far.

"Very Pleased"
Eddie R, 23 Avril 2018

Hotel was clean. Rooms were clean. Free hot breakfast was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Location was good. Not the closest hotel to downtown but just a few steps from the door is the VIA bus station. Public transport was very convent to the hotel. (Tip,Take the 301 trolly to downtown.) However i was warned by a bus station worker, not to venture any further east past the railroad tracks from the hotel. Not a good neighborhood.

"Short spring vacation in San Antonio"
Pamela F, 19 Avril 2018

We had great experience with our 3-day stay. It's a well-appointed facility, convenient to convention center, Aladome & Riverwalk. While there is some highway noise, it didn't bother us in our roomy suite on 4th floor. Bed very comfortable & Complimentary hot/cold breakfast was better than most. Streetcar 301 stops on front of hotel, easy trip/cheap trip into Alamo Center if you don't want to walk—day pass good idea if you want to visit missions or attractions out-of-downtown.

"So close to Alamodome!"
AFamilyAdventurer, 08 Avril 2018

Lucked out when this one opened up last minute for us. Second-closest hotel to Alamodome. Also easily walkable to Riverwalk and outdoor concert venues and all the Final Four Festivities. Small and had mission-style decorating. Clean and comfy. The ability to park our car there was absolutely KEY, as I heard tales of frustration from other fans who stayed at hotels farther out and had to try to drive in a find parking.

"Not overly impressed with staff at reception "
nittymane, 30 Mars 2018

Arrived to check in & to be literally snapped at to say “check ins not until 3, your rooms still dirty”. When we pointed out it was actually 3.30pm, the young lady who was tapping her long fake nails on the counter said “well it's still dirty”. We asked when it would be ready and she replied “maybe an hour, I could asked the cleaner, but you'll have to come back”. When we were finally checked in, we were checked in by a very lovely manager. This first impression really didn't make us enjoy the few days here. Breakfast was very average. Rooms are clean and of a decent size and standard. Cleaning staff are lovely and do a great job.

"Take Advantage of the Savings!"
Molly K, 26 Mars 2018

Exceptional hotel. Rooms were impeccably clean; staff way professional and personal; hotel is smaller so less hustle and a chance to actually relax in the lobby. A+ from check-in to check-out. Every, and I do mean every member of the staff greeted us with a smile and hello/good morning or evening EVERY day. The food service staff ensured all items were filled but they were so good you almost didn't see them coming and going. They were prompt to clean tables and the food was fresh and hot. Room was very clean and comfortable. Front Desk staff was very helpful with directions and recommendations. Housekeeping staff was very friendly and obviously took pride in their work. Skip the big money hotels and stay here. It's just a couple blocks away from Riverwalk and you won't get better service or money well spent at the high dollar hotels just down the street. We definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again when in San Antonio.

"Great stay despite billing debacle!"
kelsmith76, 25 Mars 2018

The BWSS is a fantastic value in SA. Close to the Riverwalk, big rooms, very clean, free breakfast. We were with a big group and there was a mass mix-up with rooms and rates upon check in and the staff could do nothing about it. After numerous calls to the Best Western 800 number we thought things were fully resolved only to find out that still, a few rooms were charged to the wrong credit card! At least the rate was figured out! Despite this, it was a nice place to stay!

"Useless Wifi, Service With No Smile, Cheap Pillows...But Good Location And Bfast"
justogabriel, 25 Mars 2018

The Year Is 2018, Most of us, use this things called Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops...Having a free "High Speed Internet" that is "High Speed" for 2001 is not worth it, you know is sad when not even the Facebook Ads will load....Yeah, there will be excuses, but at 8pm download speed was under 1Mb (Sure, I will be told many people were watching TV) but at 5am, it was a whole 1.2Mb... yeah, a prepaid cell phone plan has better speed. Second... 35 Parking Spaces, but 3X the rooms????? but because I parked there once, I must pay parking??? even if the second time (After diner) there was no parking available... Pillows...square and felt like they were stuffed with towels... Front desk, well, basic courtesy, but a "hello" with a smile and "have a great stay" would have been good to hear, I am sorry I felt like I was a bother to stay there. The Breakfast Crew were nice tho.

"Charming and comfortable "
jenenep2016, 24 Mars 2018

Lovely historic building with Mission style charm, very convenient to Riverwalk and downtown without being in the hub and bub. It is located on a busy corner next to the freeway so there is more street/traffic noise but nothing that headphones or earplugs wouldn't take care of. We were on the 4th floor with a nice view of the city lights. As commented in other reviews parking is a challenge but we arrived early afternoon and snagged a spot in front...gal at desk was very accommodating allowing us to park before check in time, so we were able to walk the few blocks to the Riverwalk and enjoy the whole afternoon there. The mattress was amazingly firm...extra firm...which my husband loved. We would definitely stay here again.

"Great location near the Alamodome and Riverwalk"
Trent H, 20 Mars 2018

This is an older hotel but is very nice. Staff is great and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is nice and not too crowded. Parking can be a hassle, but once we parked on site we pretty much were able to walk to everything we needed to get to.

"March 2018"
ihin0j0sa, 19 Mars 2018

the room was a little dark (ok except when we were getting dressed and packing) and the beds were not comfortable. But the service was great. Check in took a little while I think the clerk was new but so friendly and check out was fast and the staff was nice. Breakfast was great for a hotel, the attendant was so welcoming and the food was good.

"Nice hotel"
PhatPatW, 18 Mars 2018

Nice period styled hotel about 6 blocks from the Alamo and 4 blocks from the river walk. If your staying 2-3 days you can stay here and save some $$. If your staying in town 1 night it's not much more to stay closer. Every thing at the hotel was nice but front desk was slow all 3 times. Only 1 person ever working the front. There was a manager but they never helped. One time I waited over 15 minutes. House cleaning was great and so was breakfast. Loved the Texas waffles.

"Nice period style hotel in downtown a few blocks from alamo"
Steve E, 17 Mars 2018

This hotel is not close to river walk area so if you want that it will be about a mile away. They charge 12 bucks parking which is added to room charge. I think that's a bit much hence the 4 instead of five stars. Breakfast was average and thought it should have been more for this quality of hotel. Views were great from room as well as room itself was very comfy. Bed was firm and large. Tv was easily accessed for my external devices. Plugs and outlets were a bit sparse so bring adapters for more outlets if you need to charge lots of devices. Be sure NOT to park under any trees during the bird seasons as your car will literally be covered in poop. ( we didn't , I anticipated this, and included a photo of one unlucky tenant) see photos for highlights and views. Recommend highest floor for least noise and views.

"Within walking distance to River Walk"
mfsinmo, 02 Mars 2018

Stayed here several years ago and loved it; this time, no so much. First room we were given reeked of smoke in a nonsmoking hotel. Desk clerk was helpful, changing us to a different room that was large with a king bed and sitting area with a sofa and comfortable chair. Problem was that the room lighting was extremely poor with one table lamp with a dark shade for the sitting area. Overall the room was dark as others have observed. Room had microwave and refrigerator. Liked that we could open the window. Breakfast was standard fare with eggs, breads, cereals, yogurt, and fruit. Parking our first night was terrible. Lot was full when we arrived and overflow lot was not available. Hotel staff were helpful and had us park on a red curb for entire night...not what you expect when paying about $13.00 to park! On our previous stay parking was free, so we had not enquired about charges when making reservation. Over our multiple night stay, problem did not reoccur, but we were always anxious when driving out whether we would have parking on our return--does not make for a pleasant stay. Throughout our stay, we had to have our room entry key remade several times as it quit functioning. Finally, a pet peeve of mine, hotel had sign on entry door to effect of no public restrooms....very unwelcoming. From hotel, you can walk through a well-lit highway underpass, and on several blocks to the River Walk with many other shops and hotels.

"Never again."
deliah_wilson, 28 Février 2018

I stayed here for a games conference in January and I can safely say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Our room was dark. Even with all the lights on in the room it was still very gloomy. And I think this was to hide the fact that the room was very unclean. When I say unclean, I mean there were piles of pubes on the floor of the bathroom. The floor hadn't been vacuumed properly. The coffee maker had weird gunk come out of it when you put water in it. The walls here are paper thin. We were treated to the blow by blow game of Dungeons And Dragons that was happening either next door to us, or right above us on the first night. And the remaining nights we got to hear people walking around above us and going to the toilet. Plus the hotel is on a major road so at all hours of the night you get the noise from the street coming straight into the window. The breakfast selection was sub standard. I'm pretty sure the eggs from the second day gave me food poisoning. I could not wait to check out of this hotel. I will never stay here again and I do not recommend it to anyone.

"Poor customer service"
Barry m, 21 Février 2018

We stayed here for three nights in February, 2018. We did not have any complaints with the room. We did have a complaint with the parking situation that the manager refused to address. We arrived late (10:00) each night of our stay. There were no parking places left, so we were told to park in the fire lane next to the red painted curb. We didn't like parking there, but there was no other place to park. When we checked out we were charged $12.95 a day for parking, even though we had no parking space. I asked the manager to take the parking charges off our bill. She would not. I ended up calling the corporate office, and after they spoke to the manager, she refunded ONE night of parking instead of three. The corporate office sent us a check for the other two nights, but the manager wouldn't budge any more than a grudging refund of one night's parking. Thankfully, there was no fire in the hotel while we were there! The room was nice, but the attitude of the manager left a bad taste in our mouths. 910 ;00 p,m. to resolve at the corporate level.

the hotel was great located only 2 blocks away from the convention center. The breakfast was fresh and the staff working the front desk were kind and answered all questions and offered there services at all times

"Wonderful staff. Great location"
deniseksy, 07 Février 2018

We stayed at this small hotel while touring San Antonio. Location was excellent for the downtown river walk and airport. Noisy because you are right beside the freeway but extremely easy to travel because your right beside a freeway. We walked the 600 feet to the riverwalk withoutvany issues and once we were oriented to the place we were very pleased with the price and location of this hotel

"Great Staff"
Poolely, 03 Février 2018

Staff was great.. location is right off the freeway so pretty convenient to interstate and to downtown. Hot water was scalding in the evening but could not get hot in the morning. Odd.. but besides that visit was good..

"A lovely little gem of a hotel"
Don G, 16 Janvier 2018

We were attending an event at the Alamodome and wanted a place within easy walking distance. We stayed at the Sunset Suites and were extremely pleased with our stay. The lobby is a little hard to access because you enter off a rather busy street, but once in the lobby it is spacious and decorated with nice touches. I am partial to mission-style furniture and the lobby is done in mission-style, with many art deco touches. The room is also furnished in mission-style furniture. The decorating is very unique - it is certainly not "cookie-cutter". The area immediately around the hotel is very interesting - the neighborhood is in transition and has lots of charm. Just steps from the Sunset Suites is a lovely stone and brick church built in 1884 that was the former home of the St. Paul CME Church -- the first African-American church in San Antonio.

"You can do better"
dlh23, 13 Janvier 2018

The location itself is pretty much its main redeeming quality. It isn't a far walk to the Riverwalk. However, there were several problems... First, there is almost no light in the rooms. In order to put on makeup, or even read something, you need to go into the bathroom. If someone is using the bathroom, you are out of luck. The two lamps are relatively useless, and there is no overhead lighting whatsoever. Second, I understand that we were there on a busy weekend- New Years, but a hotel shouldn't have problems with hot water. We were there with another family, and they had the same problem. One morning, only one of us (there were 3 in our room) had hot water. After the second person took a two minute shower due to the lack of hot water, the third person chose to wait until later in the day. I don't feel that should ever be an issue in a hotel, and it happened repeatedly. Third, the two large bed frames have curves in the top that stick out toward each other, making a narrow space between the two beds even more narrow. Both my husband and I hit the frame with our thigh/hip more than once. In the middle of the night, when it's pitch black, it's almost dangerous. My friend in the other room did the same thing. He crashed into one of the frames during the night and almost fell over with pain. I personally left with huge bruises on each leg. Finally, parking was an issue. The hotel does have its own parking lot. However, at busy times, there isn't enough parking. One day, we came back to the hotel, and there were no spots. We asked the person at the desk what we were supposed to do. She said they had a lot a few blocks away and that someone would show us where to go and drive us back to the hotel. We had two cars full, so the hotel worker could only drive some of us. The others had to walk back. The next morning, when we were going out for the day, we had to get a ride back out to the other lot. If I am being charged a nightly parking fee, I feel there needs to be parking. If it weren't for the location, I wouldn't even consider this hotel. I am sure there are better options.

"Saldaña/Hernandez Wedding"
Maria R, 08 Janvier 2018

I called in early December to make reservations for 2 rooms and asked if I could have them adjoining rooms and the lady who I spoke to said they did not have adjoining rooms in this hotel. She stated she would send an email confirmation which I never received. I called on December 29th and a gentleman I spoke to send the email confirmations. I asked him again regarding the adjoining rooms and he stated that the hotel did provide them. He said he would make a note that this was my request. I called again on January 5th to again make sure we were getting 2 rooms together. The front desk lady said “yes it is noted”. Well when we arrived to check in she stated “well they didn't do it”. We booked these rooms for the Saldaña/Hernandez wedding that weekend. Very disappointed after 3 calls we stilll didn't get the arrangements we requested.

"Very Deceiving"
O9811RCrobertk, 03 Janvier 2018

Checked in late on a Sat. nite.Due to hotel being full, had to park over two blocks away and shuttled back and fourth. Floor giving away on fourth floor near elevator. Ants at the breakfast bar. No knowledge of area at the front desk. The room was very clean but a little noisy from the street traffic. Lock you out of the room before you check out at 11:00am.

"Nice Quaint Hotel! Good Location!"
BoilerMakerBob, 31 Décembre 2017

We were looking for an affordable hotel within walking distance of downtown/Riverwalk. This one is a ten minute walk to the Alamo and downtown and so popped up in our search and we went with it. The hotel is located a few hundred feet from I-37 and a few feet from Commerce Street, so you know going in that traffic noise will be a potential problem. We asked for the top floor on the north (back) side of the hotel, away from Commerce. This worked well to shield us from the occasional siren or noisy vehicle. The trade is, it put us on the side with the I-37 entrance ramp. I think we chose well but still heard an occasional motorcycle accelerating up the ramp. The building is a wonderful, a re-purposed commercial building of some sort. Looks like perhaps an old office building. The lobby is very nice, very "Southwesty." Our room on the fourth floor was also decorated very much in a south Texas motif, which we found very charming. The room was clean, and well appointed. The bed was very firm - too much so for my taste. The bath was nice and the housekeeper had arranged the towels in a decorative array with a "fan" in the center. Felt almost like a cruise ship! Parking is on site but costs (as do almost all downtown hotels) Breakfast was nice but not special. The ham and eggs were tasty. The oatmeal was soupy and runny. Fresh fruit, good coffee. Checkout smooth and painless. We would consider this hotel again when we visit San Antonio.

"Great location"
Kenneth P, 31 Décembre 2017

We've stayed here twice now. The staff is very nice, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the location is great, close to the Alamo Bowl and a short walk to shopping, dining and the Riverwalk. We like making our own Texas shaped waffles for breakfast - there's plenty of other food to fill you up as well. Would definitely recommend!

"San Antonio hotel by the Riverwalk"
Jim M, 30 Décembre 2017

This BW hotel is an easy walk away from the Riverwalk, which is why we selected it. It is an older property and does't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and attractive, decorated in the Mission style. Unfortunately, they have the hardest beds that I have ever tried to sleep on in my life, and we experienced a lot of traffic noise there as well. The included buffet breakfast is probably the worst we have encountered at a BW hotel. The room had several maintenance issues, including a flaky electronic door lock that only worked about one time out of 5. Also, we are used to being greeted at BW hotels with an enthusiastic appreciation for our Platinum status, an upgraded room, and an offer of either a snack gift or additional BW points, and we received none of this at the check in at this hotel. We might as well have been staying at a BW hotel for the first time in our lives, vs. the dozens of times we have stayed in this chain over the last few years. Overall, the this hotel has a convenient location if you are planning to visit the Alamo and the Riverwalk, but has almost nothing else to recommend it.

"The trip that turned into a nightmare."
Donna F, 28 Décembre 2017

The time spent with my family was wonderful however the hotel was miserable. I was double charged for my room. Had to contact customer care just to get my refund. Then the amount refunded was not correct. Save yourself from having to deal with hassle and book elsewhere. And to top it off the carpets are disgusting and the rooms smell terrible.

"Great price for a nice hotel"
heyjeanie, 28 Décembre 2017

Pleasantly surprised in 2016 staying here, returned in 2017 - for amenities in and near hotel, we could not be more pleased. Nice rooms, good breakfast with many options and very friendly staff - exceeds our expectations.

"Great Rooms and Friendly Staff"
S6903NEkarenj, 27 Décembre 2017

I enjoyed have a suite. I was traveling with my son and his girlfriend so it was nice to have a sofa to sit and talk to them. The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. Others commented about street noise. I didn't notice it. The rooms are large. The breakfast was good with lots to choose from.

"Good but could be so much better"
Dennis S, 16 Décembre 2017

I loved the decor of this property, breakfast was served with real dishes, and they had fairly soft bath towels. All of these great perks are diminished by the sagging floor outside of the elevator, the sink stopper needing to be reconnected, phone cover plates coming off the wall, and the stingy room coffee. The managers need to spend some time in other properties, they have a nice property here, but these little things show a lack of maintenance and care. If these are the issues the guest sees, what to the guests not see?

"Nice Hotel"
James S, 16 Décembre 2017

This was a nice hotel within walking distance of the Riverwalk and Alamo. Complimentary breakfast had selections. TV had ample HD channels. I did not like the square hard pillows on the bed, which were uncomfortable on my neck. Room had several lamps, but lacked a pole lamp behind a corner chair for reading. Overall, I would choose this hotel again.

"Convenient, a very good restoration, fairly priced"
P1709TEsandraj, 15 Décembre 2017

We enjoyed our first visit to San Antonio. This hotel turned out to be very convenient for our needs, blocks from the Alamo Dome and Riverwalk, decorated for the holidays. And we enjoy walking, though it was unseasonably chilly. Likely we'll stay here in the comfy, large rooms if we visit the area again.

"With wife and child..."
John S, 14 Décembre 2017

We decided to stay one night here on our way home from a working trip in Laredo. I'm so glad we did. This hotel is only a 5 min walk to the river... the room was small but cozy. The beds were standard and not queen so ya better be ready to snuggle... the room was clean but kinda noisy from the street, nothing ear plugs didn't handle.secure parking and friendly staff at less than 100bucks made this a great deal. I'm not into posh high dollar hotels. I just want a clean cozy room to sleep in. This is the hotel we will use when we come back. Value, clean, great staff, easy access and BW points...

"Great little hotel which has an excellent location"
savuka1958, 11 Décembre 2017

Stayed for a night prior to the Medical Congress that I was attending. Great location with reasonable rooms and great staff at reception. Breakfast was OK for a few days stay. Whilst we were there, our shower tap wouldn't switch off as the handle was broken ad the bathroom got fogged up as a result of the heat. However, it was fixed up within 30-40min by the lady at reception. The Riverwalk was in short walking distance. All in all, a reasonable stay.

"Ideal Location!"
FtMacTompkins, 07 Décembre 2017

Well..what can I say that hasn't been said already? I stayed here on the recommendation from a fellow runner for Rock'n'Roll Marathon weekend in December and I will highly recommend this hotel too! Ideal location within walking distance to the Expo, to The Start and Finish lines for the 5/10km runs and the Half and Full, easy to get to the Riverwalk that has plenty of restaurants and shopping stores. Front desk staff was AMAZING and so was the lady that took care of the breakfast area. A huge shout out to Crystal for helping us out with reservation. Rooms were comfortable and the beds were comfy enough that I did not have issues with my back in the AM. Pillows were great and the bathroom clean and spotless! Quality service at it's best! It is also just down the street from the Spaghetti Warehouse though I would not suggest walking that at night by yourself. All in all...Awesome hotel and it is just off the freeway for easy access!

"Perfect Location"
TJTravellerVictoria, 05 Décembre 2017

Great place to stay if don't want to be right in the middle of downtown. Easy walk to downtown Riverwalk, shopping, restaurants and sites. Very friendly staff. Great place to stay for Rock'n'Roll Marathon weekend in December.

"Ideal"
TeamHF, 30 Novembre 2017

Exactly what we were after... Good location (5 mins walk to River Walk), great friendly staff, large comfy bed, clean, breakfast included, reasonably priced parking, decent selection of TV channels, quiet at night and large room.

"Blinded by extra bills"
Joyceerine, 27 Novembre 2017

Booked using points, but, credit card was charged for other things anyway to the tune of $44.02 - room charge revenue, state hotel tax, occupancy tax, parking fee, and sales tax. Free rooms? Don't think so. Disappointed by that. Room was nice. Smelled like garlic from previous guests items in the refrigerator. Noisy from street traffic. Been awhile since it's taken 25 minutes to check in since desk clerk was on a personal phone call. Close to Alamodome - within walking distance. All in all, it was a good visit except the length of time it took to check in.

"Great hotel near River Walk and convention ctr."
392ralphc, 14 Novembre 2017

This is a really nice hotel in a completely redone building that is extremely convention to the expressways, to the River Walk, and to the Convention Center, as well as to excellent dining in the downtown area.

"Nice hotel & not far from Riverwalk"
mbmindy29, 13 Novembre 2017

Nice & clean. Had trouble with our room keyless entry. Not happy about parking had to pay 14.00 a day for parking. Called & made sure about parking but never saw the fee that is kinda hidden & they didn't tell me when I called. The girl at the desk was rude to us about the parking fee & said she didn't have to pay to park.......Would not stay again.

"Riverwalk and Tower of Americas"
kes2020, 11 Novembre 2017

both were lots of fun! We will go back often for fun trips and conventions! Family and friends have both enjoyed San Antonio with the Alamo and all it has to offer. Can't wait to come back again. Maybe with the entire family.

"Loved it!"
JJMLS, 10 Novembre 2017

Last year I discovered this hotel and went back this year for the same type of event. I will stay there again next year for the same event. It is literally the most conveinent hotel to both downtown Riverwalk AND the Alamodome. 6-8 min walk to both but surprisingly it is a quiet area. Wouldnt walk the area at night though. It is close to lots of restaurants (Dont go to Smoke restaurant!), bike rentals, Amtrak and trolley stops. It is a quaint place with stain glass sconces and old brick walls. It was formerly an old train depot made into a hotel. Love the free breakfast - equivalent to Hampton. Love the atmosphere and location the msot! HATE the beds - they are HARD and very uncomfortable unless you like sleeping on that kind of mattress. I dont. They make me hurt. The rooms have no overhead lighting. Lamps only so its often dark. Makes for good sleeping but not good reading! :) And very few oulets so its hard to charge your phone next to your bed. The rooms are as pricey as any Hilton and Marriott but they are also equivalent in style and quality. And the convenience makes it worth the cost though not for more than 2 nights.

"Nice hotel with character"
Debbourne, 01 Novembre 2017

Like many reviewers, we enjoyed staying at this hotel, with its easy road and pedestrian access to all the typical points of interest in the city. We had booked for 2 nights but stayed a third night to enjoy more of San Antonio, on this, our first visit. The room was sizeable and comfortable (though we found the lighting could have been a bit better). The breakfast was a typical Best Western breakfast which was adequate but more fresh fruit options would have been nice. It is not the closest hotel to the Riverwalk etc. but is certainly worthy of consideration with its ease of access, good on site parking and nice décor. Staff were polite and helpful. We would come back again, if in the area.

"Absolute Gem in San Antonio"
Ann W, 30 Octobre 2017

We reserved this hotel based on its convenience to the conference center. We were absolutely surprised at its charm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They never failed to greet us as we left the building or upon our return. They were also very knowledgeable about the area. The charm of this converted building was in the details that were preserved. It was fun to look around and find the little details. The furnishing reflected the style as well. The hotel is also within walking distance of the many San Antonio attractions such as the Riverwalk, the Alamodome, the Alamo, St. Paul's square, shopping and restaurants. We have already recommended this hotel to our friends.

"Wonderful service!"
harlenej2017, 25 Octobre 2017

Caring, helpful employees, especially Sylvia, the afternoon/evening clerk who found us the perfect room with a king size bed and tub. The breakfast items were delicious. Nice room with a comfortable bed. We had trouble with our room key, but that was finally corrected.

"Best Western - Close to most everything!"
cindydO4064VW, 23 Octobre 2017

I appreciated the location; breakfast was great! Lobby and breakfast are very clean and food warm. Value of hotel at the time I tried to book a bit more and could not get rate friends received! Would definitely book again for better rate!

Stayed here for the last 3 years for an event. If I tell everyone how much I like it, it may be harder for me to get a room in the future. We enjoy this hotel and SYLVIA is our desk clerk of the year award!!

"SPE Conference 2017"

Professional and courteous staff. The facility is strategically located near Henry B. Gonzales Convention centre and the Alamo. The location straddles business and leisure. The interior and immediate surroundings are very clean...sparkling Clean!!!!

"Great stay! "
megzilla, 14 Octobre 2017

We stayed here for a night in San Antonio. I was really impressed! Great location, clean rooms, tidy and very cute lobby. They have a hot breakfast, which is totally adequate. I really liked this location because it's a quick walk to the Riverwalk and the Alamo, but it's not ON the Riverwalk. We stayed on a Saturday night, and while I can see why some people might want to stay on the Riverwalk, I like my sleep and the Riverwalk can get hootie-wild and loud. This was perfect because it was so close and yet just far enough away. Two thumbs up. Another Best Western win.

"Comfort"
Patricia H, 14 Octobre 2017

My stay at this hotel was very comfortable. The room was real clean and the bed was so soft. Easy access to highways. Check in Staff was pretty bland but the lady who checked me out was so nice and upbeat.

"great location"
Orphie27, 13 Octobre 2017

From this hotel it is an easy walk to the River Walk, Alamo or Tower of the Americas. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and I liked the Mission style furniture. We had a beautiful view of the Tower of the Americas from our room. Overall it was a great experience. Here are some of the details that might give someone concern: There was a football game and other activities nearby on one of the nights of our stay and this caused a lot of traffic noise, even though we were on the forth floor it was loud. Breakfast was typical stuff. We came down about 15 minutes before the end of breakfast and there was only a couple pieces of ham left and if you get there earlier you can have real dishes (not plastic). It was a long wait to get down the elevator in the morning (I think it was tied up by housekeeping).

"Don't believer the negatives"
Bob M, 07 Octobre 2017

I was somewhat concerned when I read reviews saying this hotel was in a bad area of town. Any major city has its share of vagrants and colorful people who hang out in the downtown area and San Antonio is no different. I found the area to be typical of the downtown areas of major cities I have visited and neither the area or the people were threatening to me.

"Excellent Experience"
garner_heidi30, 02 Octobre 2017

Very helpful staff, clean hotel, close to city. I enjoyed my experience completely. I would stay at this Best Western in the future and consider Best Western Hotels everywhere in the USA and overseas.

"The best service ever!"
Aglaia K, 23 Septembre 2017

So friendly! Clean! True souther hospitality and the breafast!? Wow! Definitely big bang for your buck!!! Skipping distance from the River walk and all main attractions. Car isn't really needed if you stay here.

"BEST hotel nearest the Alamodome!"
J060170, 23 Septembre 2017

Aboslutely LOVE this hotel. It's expensive for a Best Western but it's so quaint and unique. It's a renovated Train Depot and the beauty and details throughout the hotel are such a nice touch. The staff is amazing and the best thing about the place is it's within walking distance to the Alamodome so you dont have to drive or pay for parking at the Stadium! It is also VERY close to a trolley station/bike rentals so you have other modes of transportation to the Riverwalk. HIGHLY recommend...wouldn't stay anywhere else!

"Extremely Poor customer service"
Triply2015, 20 Septembre 2017

Pros: -Good shower pressure -Cleaning Staff attentive Cons: -Dark rooms (improved with natural sunlight) -Poor customer service, which included: ----Refusal to process early check-in (even if I made mention that I did not need to be in the room) ----Double charged credit card for the same stay (I was told that it was due to the booking company I had used and was told to call the booking company myself to fix the mistake but when I showed them my email confirmation that said "paid in full" they retracted and said that they did make a call and that they go it settled). I only found out about the double charge from my credit card. I also got charged more than what was agreed upon by Best Western. No apologizes at all were given. ----Key cards would not work more than half the times, we had to keep getting it reset ----I mentioned my unsatisfactory stay and they said "do you want to check out" -- again no apologizes at all and no acceptance of constructive feedback ----Was told several different and incorrect things, was told that the staff who told us these things were "in-training" by their manager. When asked why they were not being supervised if that were the case - no response. The staff in training at least were nicer than their manager Overall, if you're trying to find a place to stay - go somewhere else were you won't get the headache and where your business is actually appreciated. I really felt they didn't care at all about whether your stay was pleasant or not.

"Would go 4.5 Stars if I could"
Kenn S, 26 Août 2017

Having stayed at MANY Best Westerns over the years.....this one makes the top 15. NOT exactly the Paris Hilton...but very clean....friendly staff.....most comfy bed and a nice breakfast with a fine variety and fairly good quality food. Better looking on the inside than the outside. Hallways were warm but then again, you're not spending much time in the hallways ! Lobby is wonderful - plenty of informative old pictures. NO pool. A less than half a mile walk will get you to a section of the River Walk....and maybe a half mile gets you to the Alamo. Very close to some City buses

"Close to River Walk"
Theresa R, 26 Août 2017

A little pricey for a Best Western, but the hotel is very nice,. clean. Breakfast on real plates!! not foam.Very friendly staff. Very close to the River Walk and the Alamo. about 4-5 blocks away. Parking is not included in the hotel rate.

"Worst hotel experience "
AshtonT712, 25 Août 2017

I recently stayed at this property for 2 nights. Both nights I was up all night listening to music from room next door. When I called front desk, I was basically told since I didn't know exact what room it was coming from, nothing could be done. First morning for breakfast there was a leak and breakfast attendant told the maintenance guy don't listen to front clerk because she was dumb. Upon arriving home I noticed I was charged on card I used to reserve room and also card I told them I was paying with when I checked in. So I called hotel today to see what happened and spoke Ana who stated she was the GM. She was very rude and interrupted me the whole conservation. I was told by her she would check into it and call me right back and she never called back. Charges are still on both card. It was my first time staying at a Best Western and it will be my LAST.

"Nightmare in the next room"
160ronaldt, 11 Août 2017

The night staff was extremely reluctant to deal with the drunk neighbors fighting. We went down stairs to the front desk and demanded the police be called. The fight lasted 4 hours so much sleep was lost and the manager did not seem to care.

"Worst experience at a Best Western"
jamesaN4298BB, 11 Août 2017

The outside appearance looks bad, plus you claim to be on the river walk which you are not. The neighborhood around is very questionable and doesn't feel safe(boarded up buildings around it). Not to mention, we paid for parking and had to park in a very uncomfortable place (your overflow parking)at night that was several blocks away from your hotel. Thankfully we didn't get broken into. There was also someone laying in our bed when we walked in to our room. We had to get another room that was not close to our group. Being close to our group was our first priority. I paid for 2 rooms together. The staff didn't tell us about the couch beds in the King rooms or we would have got the joining rooms. Instead we were forced to stay on seperate floor. The rooms were dark and very old feeling they smelled musty like dirty damp carpet. I guess this is were you claim to be the "historical district" well it looked pretty historical alright slash very old and outdated. The hallway smelled like weed I mean like it was being piped through the vents. They told me on the phone there was a pool and clearly there wasn't one. The ham that came out for breakfast was sour and not safe to eat. Thankfully I had a good gag reflex. Overall horrible experience we know better next time. I will not recommend this location. I will stay at your other locations but not this one. Worst hotel experience with Best Western ever.

"Great location"
marissa g, 10 Août 2017

The location was perfect for walking to the river walk and mall at a decent price and it also accommodated my family of 6 easily which was something I couldn't find at near by hotels. I would def book this location again in the future.

"Relaxing"
VivianaFeb2013, 10 Août 2017

We loved the fact it was close to the riverwalk but far away enough that we didn't have to deal with the traffic. It was close enough to walk. We had view of the Tower of the Americas which the kids really enjoyed.

"Great location"
Sam W, 07 Août 2017

We stayed here for 3 nights on a recent trip around the US. The hotel is in a great location and walking distance to the Riverwalk and The Alamo, and plenty of great places to eat nearby. The area is quiet and felt safe. Our room was big and the beds were comfortable. The free breakfast was good. Theres a small shop for drinks, snacks, ice cream etc. The room/bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner in places. But overall a good hotel. If you get a chance, walk over to Hays Street Bridge and watch the sunset! Would recommend this hotel for the Riverwalk!

"Super nice BW at walking distance from the riverwalk"
BossErpe-Belgium, 07 Août 2017

One of the better Best Western hotel we stayed during our 3 weeks road trip. VERY nice Best Western hotel VERY close to the river. Parking is not free but you pay less than on the river. VERY complete hot breakfast. The rooms are super clean and well maintained. WiFi is fast and free. Very nice people at the reception making a fast and accurate check-in and check-out. Microwave and fridge in the large room. Quite safe area.

Check in was good, room was good (as pics were shown). Hotel has a historic feel, room and was dark than I'm used too. Only little complaint was bathroom had an odor. (Water smell). Breakfast was great. Eggs, waffle, cereal, etc. There is a parking fee $13 (a night). And short distance to the river walk, restaurants, bank n bar.

"Stay here when going to the Riverwalk"
237donaldk, 28 Juillet 2017

This is a great place to stay for going to the riverwalk in San Antonio. Close enough to walk to the Riverwalk, but nice and quiet being just far enough away. Diamond members have the parking fee waived. Rooms are wonderful with a historical feel. The only drawback is that there are not ice machines on every floor like I am used to with Best Westerns, but that is just nitpicking, right?? I stay here every time I come to San Antonio.

"very friendly enviroment"
104hectorv, 26 Juillet 2017

we had a very nice stay, first impression was confusing we did no saw hotel when we passed by the first time, but once we reached the front it is a cozy nice hotel, breakfast is included which makes it easier to concentrate on the visits planed, it also has a great location to go visit museums, stores, zoo and just enjoy a walk at river walk.

"Start of our Summer Road Trip"
RichwithGirls, 24 Juillet 2017

Booked the Sunset Suites based on price and location. Was very happy with the hotel, and the short easy walk to the Riverwalk. The hotel was nice with large clean rooms. Front desk staff was extremely helpful in helping me print shipping labels.

"Worst Best Western ever!"
Marianne M, 13 Juillet 2017

I have stayed in Best Western hotels all over Texas but this one is a disappointment. The location is close to town and the price was lower than competitors, then I found out why. Right off the bat we were not able to get into the room and it took two trips plus the help of the maid to get the problem corrected. Btw, there is an additional $15 per nite fee to pay for parking! On the second nite we arrived to a full lot and no available parking space! When we told the front desk clerk (June 13th), she told us we would have to park a few blocks away if there was no parking near the hotel and they would give us a ride! We told the front desk clerk that we were having problems with the t.v., it turns off all by itself. She said it was a common problem in the hotel due to the age of the hotel and the equipment!! She offered no remedy or suggestion on how the problem would or could be resolved! Not only that, but she added that she is looking for a better hotel to work at!! Don't bother with a bathing suit, there is NO POOL! We will not be staying here again!

"Worst stay ever"
tawnericc, 08 Juillet 2017

My stay here at the best Western was the Worst experience I have ever had at any hotel. The staff was completely rude to us and even had one employee hit on my fiance and made her feel really uncomfortable. The phones in the room didn't work. The managers there treat you like you're the problem not them. The food is horrible. Just... Gah! So frustrated with them...

"Great stay"
321bobbym, 07 Juillet 2017

Had a great stay just like before. We have stayed there before and have always enjoyed our stays...... next trip will definitely involve another stay here. Close to river walk is a huge plus. Thanks so much for making our stay great!!

"Short walk to the Riverwalk"
wrig526, 06 Juillet 2017

Nice clean place to stay, room was great. This place had a great breakfast that's included. If you're doing the Riverwalk it's only a short walk away 5 - 10 mins. I would stay here again when I'm back in San Antonio.

"Super Location"
jane o, 05 Juillet 2017

A brief seven minute walk up East Commerce Street takes you to the River Walk, another block to Alamo Street and up farther to San Fernando Cathedral (1731). The staff is welcoming, the included breakfast is amazing (and tables etc. are CLEAN), and you are in St. Paul's Square where the Amtrak is located plus lots of other establishments. Just in front is the trolley stop with other attractions (Tower of America's and huge Astrodome). The rooms are large, fresh and clean. We stayed for four straight nights and will happily return!

"Best Western"
54justinal, 03 Juillet 2017

Location was great compared to Rive Walk. The staff was helpful upon arrival and explained any questions very well. There wasn't a TON of options on the breakfast bar, but they had all the basics and it was very clean and well stocked.

"San Antonio trip"
997reneea, 01 Juillet 2017

Very nice Hotel close to everything on the river walk. Nice clean rooms. Helpful staff great breakfast. Easy to check in and out. Didn't think you should have to pay extra to park your car in their lot.

"Super Convenient Location, Great Stay"
Meranda C, 28 Juin 2017

I had never been to San Antonio but was really wanting to stay close to the Riverwalk and Alamo. I typically look for Best Western because it's got the amenities I like with the price range I am good with. So, when I looked at the map I couldn't tell how beneficial this location was but I booked anyway. Turns out, it was perfect! Both spots were around a 10 minute walk from the BW, which was in downtown. It was so convenient! When you walk in, you definitely get a western vibe as everything is wood. The breakfast area is quite spacious and the building itself is historic. Also helpful is the in house store where I had to get nomz because too many things were closed. The smallest detail in the room was not overlooked and also came with plenty of stretching room. The only annoyance I had was the fact that parking there was $12 which I was not formerly aware.

"Great Hotel Experience"
Bonnie O, 26 Juin 2017

The staff, at all hours, were friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The hotel is in good condition. Everything was clean and kept up well. The rooms are large and comfortable, including a seating area, coffee table, and desk. We were able to get adjoining rooms that connected from the inside and that really enhanced our overall experience. The breakfast was plentiful and including eggs, sausage, grilled peppers, as well as the usual fare. There were a lot of options! The hotel is within a great proximity to everything. We walked everywhere easily and were able to come and go from the hotel without feeling like it was a huge hike. Traveling with a toddler, this is important. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again. The price was definitely worth it.

"Good Location"
Weldyn H, 24 Juin 2017

This BW is located in a good location as it relates to the Riverwalk. However, the night staff was a little curt toward my wife but nice to me. Strange! They had a very nice breakffast and the rooms were very nice. keep up the good work!

"I will stay again"
Jesus C, 20 Juin 2017

very helpful staff, overload parking but additional parking was available, shuttle to additional parking, walking distance from Alamo Dome, need for food places outside the hotel, overall i will stay again for my next event.

"Best ever place to stay, coming back."
Penny A, 19 Juin 2017

Excellent large clean room with super soft pillows and mattress. Great WiFi. Massive sized bathroom. Great breakfast with healthy options. Easy parking with vehicle right where you can see it. Close to marketplace and Alamo. Family friendly.

"Ideal base for visiting San Antonio"
583judithw, 18 Juin 2017

Very pleasant, attractive, quiet hotel in historic neighborhood just blocks from Riverwalk. Trolley/ bus stop is on the same block. Staff couldn't have been more helpful! We should have stayed longer!!

"Walking the riverwalk"
David and there... M, 15 Juin 2017

The riverwalk is a must see in San Antonio. Our hotel was four blocks from the river walk and we walked it several times, several days. It was an easy walk and we felt very safe. The hotel staff were helpful and very friendly. I would stay with BW again.

"Horrible Service"
264yasminj, 12 Juin 2017

My sister made a reservation for us, with her points. When we got to the hotel, we were told that there wasn't a room for us. The Front Desk agent was extremely rude and didn't even apologize. She was actually sending us away without even trying. We were really tired and our baby was very sick. My sister had to call Best Western and the hotel, there wasn't anybody in the hotel willing to help us. They finally agreed to put us in a room, but we had to wait like for two hours. I will never stay at Best Western again.

"Bad Location"
V1814BVhollyb, 11 Juin 2017

The hotel itself is okay. The hotel is located right beside a busy street and hotel interchange with a bus station right down the street. Lots of vehicle noise 24/7. If you are a light sleeper you may experience issues due to noise. Beds are very hard and pillows terrible.

"Awesome stay"
christinacJ1994ED, 11 Juin 2017

Loved the location. Friendly staff, clean room, and a good breakfast. It's a very family friendly hotel, and we loved the Decore of the rooms and lobby. We plan on staying here again on our next trip to San Antonio.

"Dated"
rogerrJ1000QG, 06 Juin 2017

Roof leaked. Maintenance man came in, dumped trash out of trash can onto the floor and then put the trash can under the leak. Left with trash still laying on the floor! I ended up changing rooms, with no help from hotel staff.

"Don't waste your time and money over here"
705rickyw, 05 Juin 2017

didnt have a pool, had to pay for parking and the lot was full when we got back from dinner and had to park in a dark lot 3 blocks from the hotel and the gates were unlocked all night. Elevator broke a couple times with me in it and the bathroom door lock didn't work. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at!!

"Comfortable and clean"
tiffann0509, 28 Mai 2017

I recently stayed here for a conference held at the convention center. This was a short walk from the convention, making it cheaper than hotels on the riverwalk. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is in some sort of historic building, adding to the ambiance. I was able to see a friend's room in a more expensive hotel down the road, and this hotel easily matched the quality for a better price.

"Pleasant stay in a historic motel "
Marine4life73, 27 Mai 2017

Nice location and conveniently located near downtown near the Tower of America, Convention Center, River Walk and Alamo. Just about 10 minute walk to River Walk area and the mall. 15-20 minutes to Alamo depending on your pace. Very pleasant staff, friendly, courtesy and helpful. Rooms are spacious, firm bed but comfy but need better pillows (thankfully we always travel with one). Rooms have small fridge, microwave, desk and couch, 42" TV. Breakfast is that of any other continental breakfast; gravy was bland with no flavor (only complaint). Parking here is $12.95 per night. Would recommend staying at this location

"San Antonio Trip"
Albert K, 26 Mai 2017

Born in Texas, moved to Arizona when I was six years old. So, I thought it was time to return to Texas to see the Alamo and other surrounding attractions. Seven day stay in an excellent facility, with exceptional staff, a yummy breakfast, clean room, super comfy bed, great view, internet, bus and trolley stop right outside the hotel door. Yep, it doesn't get much better than this!

"Great place to stay"
sbrister, 22 Mai 2017

Great place to stay! All the employees were great. Bianca was so good!! She went above & beyond helping us! Will definitely stay there again . Rooms were clean . Beds were comfortable . Rooms were good & cold !

"A Good Hotel but....."
468glenng, 22 Mai 2017

This was a good quiet hotel with a good breakfast. Staff were courteous and friendly. The location was central to the downtown core. Only problem was a faulty door lock that had to be re-keyed every day.

"Great location"
Dansker58, 21 Mai 2017

The hotel is a short walk to the riverwalk, the Alamo, central downtown. Mission style furniture throughout which added a nice atmosphere but was not comfortable in the room. The bed was super hard and the pillows were small squares so thick they hurt my neck. Headboard was uncomfortable when sitting up in bed. Wooden footboard was sticking out and hard to get by without bumping into it. Rooms were not as nice as other Best Western Plus hotels we stayed at in Texas. Hot breakfast was ok, hotel was clean. We also had to pay for parking which we never had to do with this chain. Unfortunate there was no pool or whirlpool.

"Excellent"
josegU4440LD, 20 Mai 2017

The service was awesome everyone they all went out of their way everyone that works there went out of their way they can make sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed awesome awesome service

"Convenient location - 10 minute walk to River Walk & Alamo"
Sheila N, 17 Mai 2017

Spent 3 very comfortable nights in a spacious suite. Air-con may disturb light-sleepers but we were so shattered at the end of 3 busy days sightseeing we forgot about it. Staff were friendly & helpful. Parking was 12 dollars per night which we hadn't accounted for - this is probably the norm if you want a guaranteed space.

"Clean hotel, caring staff"
sben495, 17 Mai 2017

What made this Best Western really stand out is that its staff really cares. From the front desk to housekeeping to breakfast staff, everyone was very dedicated and seemed to really care about the guests' experience. Hotel breakfasts are pretty much the same at this class of hotel, but at this Best Western even the breakfast (e.g., cooked oatmeal) tasted better! The room and hotel were very clean, the location was good (in walking distance to Riverwalk, Alamo, etc.) and the price was reasonable. I would definitely stay here again (even though there are hotels that are closer to the sights).

"Second Visit"
Michael P, 17 Mai 2017

What better endorsement could I give than coming back for another visit? The hotel is well located, just ten minutes walk from the Alamo and five from the river center mall. The rooms are large and well maintained. They are furnished to suit the character of the building which adds to the charm. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was good. Plenty of cereals, breads, fruit, coffee etc. The staff here are exceptionally attentive. I don't recall the lady's name who was on the front desk each night of my stay (13-16) but she was very friendly and helpful. It looks like exceptional staff are the norm here!

"Family Trip"
427cecilias, 15 Mai 2017

Watch the charges made. I had to constantly monitor my bank account for charges made by the hotel. Breakfast was good and well stocked. Hotel personnel was generally friendly. Even though, there was some miscommunication.

"San Antonio getaway weekend"
kristyf451, 12 Mai 2017

This is a wonderful hotel. It far exceeded my expectations considering the price that we paid. It is a great value. The hotel is in a nice location and is very clean. The bed was so comfy! It is a short walk to the start of the river walk and everything that is happening in the town. It's very quiet. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. You should stay here. I just can't say enough good things about it. One note, some of the reviews said the kitchen staff was slow to replenish breakfast items. This was a small issue when we stayed but only because the breakfast area was totally full. These ladies were doing their absolute best to keep items stocked. It was only a brief wait to get what you wanted at some times. It was definitely not an inconvenience and nothing to complain about like I have read in some reviews.

"Not flexible with guest requests"
cibiem, 07 Mai 2017

Plus: + Request for room facing parking lot was honored + Value + Nice room, decent sized King suite + Housekeeping pays a lot of attention to every detail + Spotless clean + reusable plates and silverware in the breakfast area + Best bed/mattress we had during our 3 weeks trip to the US + 12-15 minutes‘ walk to center/Riverwalk Minus: - Cash payment only accepted upfront - Not the slightest interest in appreciation of my diamond membership (that requests 30 nights at Best Western properties within 12 months) or the attempt to understand, that I was not asking for something unusual - Only few breakfast items We were booked for 3 nights and I wanted to pay cash upon check-out. That is not possible, I was told, cash payments must be done in advance. I asked for the reason, since I presented a valid credit card and the front desk made a copy of my passport. „We charge for each night“, the lady told me. That is an incomprehensible argument to me. I told her that I usually don't have trouble with cash payment upon check-out. The friendly smile disappeared. „No. Cash needs to be paid upfront.“ Bottom line: recommended for value and proximity to city center. However, I would not stay there again, as I neither felt welcome nor appreciated as a diamond member. The hotel itself is absolutely OK, but I am a guest in the first place and wasn't treated adequately especially in view of my Rewards membership. That behaviour is poor and is maybe only a personal issue. This reflects my rating it average.

"Affordable, charmer near the Riverwalk area"
lenaturner, 06 Mai 2017

This place has character and charm with large rooms. The room had a living area with a pull out bed. The room also featured a microwave, wet bar sink, and mini frig. The décor was older but in good condition. The free breakfast included: waffles, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereal, juice, and coffee. You pay for parking which is limited but it's in walking distance to the Riverwalk. We were on the second floor near a busy intersection; so that was a bit noisy. The noise from the third floor was aggravating each night as we retired for the night. The people above us moved around until late in the night and early morning hours. The ceiling and floor sound proofing was horrible. Overall the place was okay and affordable compared to other hotels in the area. If you book a hotel just one block across the interstate the price increases tremendously.

"Good Value - With a little walk"
jfreitag2015, 04 Mai 2017

Good Clean hotel, nice decor, helpful staff.. Is only a short walk to Downtown, Alamo and Riverwalk.. The walk is a little sketchy, so take a friend with you or Uber.. But other than that its a good deal..

"Sunset Suites River walk Best Western"
gregmY4698GQ, 02 Mai 2017

Great amenities for the price! The location is an easy walk to downtown and the river walk and also the other direction has many bars and restaurants so it is basically a better location then it appeared when we first checked in. It is very clean and has a nice large area for sitting and relaxing. It's near the highway but we didn't notice any noise in the hotel. Also very close to the convention center.

"Great Location"
Stacy M, 01 Mai 2017

Great location, inexpensive, extremely helpful staff. The hotel is within walking distance to downtown river walk and other points of interest. The room was very large, a little dimly lit but it was OK. There was a storm during our stay which knocked out power for a couple hours but the hotel staff was extremely helpful and let people hang out in the lobby and enjoy iced tea that they provided.

"Don't stay here!"
bunter731, 30 Avril 2017

The building itself is nice, rooms are very clean and have comfortable beds. My issue was the woman at the reception desk named Bianca. She was rude, full of attitude and acted like she hated her job! She talks like a robot spewing all the rules of the hotel and if asked to repeat herself, gets very aggressive and imitating. I was treated like a bother to her during my stay of one night. Wifi is not reliable; I kept getting kicked off. The hotel borders on the bad part of town, so if you need groceries or drinks, don't walk! I won't return to this location.

"Good location"
jkbear, 26 Avril 2017

This is basically a very nice hotel - I've stayed here several times. There were just a few things this time that needed some tweeking. I understand that the hotel is about to get a facelift. I would recommend this hotel.

"Friend reunion"
Marty C, 25 Avril 2017

Met up with 14 friends for 4 days , we all stayed at this hotel. Its a 5 to 7 minute walk to the riverwalk and to the alamo. If you don't want to walk there is a bus #301 that picks you up right in front of the hotel and for $2.75 you can take the bus all day . The hotel and staff were great and the breakfast was very good

"San Antonio"
angelagJ3062BH, 24 Avril 2017

I enjoyed my time in San Antonio during a recent conference. Very close to convention center and parking was reasonable. The staff exhibited wonderful customer service. My only complaint is that while I had a city view room, it was incredibly noisy at night (loud cars with music blasting).

"San Antonio vacation "
KCJ44, 21 Avril 2017

My husband and I stayed here April 9-16. It's a nice hotel very close to the Riverwalk, downtown, and freeway. The beds were uncomfortable and the bed frame too big for the size of the room as I kept running into it at night when the room was dark. The lighting could also be brighter in the rooms too. The staff was friendly and helpful except for one issue we had during the night ( I won't go into it on here).

"Great!"
U8424DYtarac, 17 Avril 2017

Everything was great- location, employees. Beds and pillows need improving. The shower hurt my kids because of the type of shower head but overall I would say everything else was great and within walking distance to everything- will stay again! Parking wasn't a problem for us!!

"Great Location; Great People"
X7813XQlindar, 16 Avril 2017

Everyone at the hotel was extremely helpful and gave us many tips about how to get around, what to see, and where to eat. The rooms were comfortable. The hot breakfast was very good. Very close to the Alamadome for the activity we were in San Antonio for. Close to buses and also easy to get to downtown. Had problems with the room keys but managed to get them to work.

"Gotta Love Texas"
collenec2016, 15 Avril 2017

This hotel was amazing. Everyone was so nice and friendly, going above and beyond. I didn't feel like a guest, I was family. I was laughing and smiling so much my cheeks hurt. Can't wait to go visit again.

"Noisy, Smelled, Out of Date"
44kirstend, 12 Avril 2017

It started off bad with the lady at the front desk acting like she was above me and she was right about everything and I was wrong. I work for the military and was not supposed to be charged occupancy tax and gave her my form which she was like "ok you won't be charged state tax" and I corrected her and said I wasn't supposed to be charged OCCUPANCY tax...she looked at me like I was stupid and then I showed her the form which showed the occupancy tax clearly stated and she changed it and was like "well it's still tax..." :/ Then I was put in a first floor room that was right next to the street! It was loud and noisy all night because there is a bus stop right there so you can hear the loud busses stopping right next to my room! The room itself smelled like mold and the air conditioner did not work at all! It was stuffy in the room. The shower pressure was really bad and it didn't even get that hot. I stayed Monday-Friday and I noticed that on Thursday night the hot water got better though. So I question if they increase the hot water during the weekend since it is more busy but decrease it during the week to save money. The decorations are out-dated and the lighting in the room was very poor! It was so dark in my room, even during the day! I turned on all of the lamps which are very dim themselves and it was still like living in a cave. Oh and the fitness center barely has anything in it! 1 treadmill, 2 bikes, a stair stepper type of thing and 1 multi use weight machine that doesn't have any of the necessary hookups you need to do some of the moves. No free weights at all! Overall very dissatisfied with this hotel. The only good thing it has going for it is its proximity to the river walk and Rivercenter Mall is very good!

"Great Location"
Alexandra T, 11 Avril 2017

The hotel is close to the Riverwalk, in fact it is within walking distance to the Alamo, Hemisfair Park and Market Square. It is clean, has a great breakfast and fantastic service. Bianca at the front desk was especially helpful. It is a wonderful place to stay.

"Lost in a moment"
Callmephil, 11 Avril 2017

I had planned to write a positive review of this hotel: fair price, quaint Art Deco decor, convenience to the Alamo and other San Antonio attractions. But they lost me in one moment because of one of the rudest things I have seen in a long time. I went to the elevator from my room, hit the down button to go to the lobby, when "Rosa" the housekeeper boarded the elevator behind me, reached around me after I had pressed the 1st floor button, hit some kind of override and we went up instead. She stood there and glowered at me like, "tough luck chump!" I ended up having stop at every floor all the way down to the lobby after Rose got off. Señora, por favor, no entiendes. Su trabajo es servir al cliente, el cliente no le sirve. When I come back, I will not stay here.

"Suite"
mhaeannc, 10 Avril 2017

Clean room and convenient place to stay because the river walk was near by. Customer service was great and comfortable king size bed. Not too pleased with paying $12 for parking though that was a bit overpriced

"Minimum parking available"
C9881WUritad, 10 Avril 2017

The hotel in general was satisfactory. However the night desk attendant was curt and unprofessional when we mentioned that we were not comfortable with having to park in the over-flow lot that was 4 blocks away in a dark, remote area that appeared unsafe--ESPECIALLY since they had the audacity to charge us a daily parking fee.

"Rooms are dark, parking is horrible, internet is slow as hell"
gregoryj602, 28 Novembre 2016

If you need a place to stay and a decent free breakfast, good place if you are willing to endur the titled items. The rooms are way to dark, even with the multiple light fixtures all over the room. The internet is so slow that you cannot complete the mandatory signon to use the "free" wifi. Parking is HORRIBLE, my vehicle was blocked by the double parked truck of another guest, and the front desk ask me if i need to move "now". I did not know that I had to provide my itenirary when i checked it. Move the F*&^ truck or have it towed....

"Very Nice Hotel & Staff"
Girky S, 22 Novembre 2016

My cousin flew into town for a few days and we stayed here. Everything went so smoothly. Bianca checked us in and was so friendly. I like how she greeted us immediately when we walked in the front entrance even though she was checking in another guest. Later in the night when we returned we were greeted w another smiling face (Roderick). Super nice guy. Both employees were amazing. We left super early in the morning and didn't get to have breakfast. Rooms were nice and clean. It's abt a fifteen min walk to the Riverwalk. If you're wanting to go to the Market Place ... it's about ten blocks away. Thank you Bianca and Roderick !! Star employees !

"Best Ever"
Dominic M, 21 Novembre 2016

This may have been the best hotel stay I have ever experienced in 50 years of traveling. I would not stay anywhere else in San Antonio should I return in the future. The location is ideal if you are arriving by train, visiting the Alamodome, the Alamo or the River Walk. The breakfast was warm and tasty , the room was spotless and comfortable, the staff was friendly and attentive to every need.

"Very Nice Experience"
johnpB1295YJ, 18 Novembre 2016

Very enjoyable and comfortable. The hotel is in a well-restored historic structure and does not - thankfully - look like a modern cookie-cutter hotel. Staff was extremely courteous and pleasant, and the room was clean and comfortable. The only knock against the property was the very limited parking.

"Excellent location and a great stay"
iconions, 17 Novembre 2016

We stayed three nights. The hotel was easy to find and was close to attractions as well as to the highway. The staff was excellent - very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. I was able to get excellent recommendations for dinner. The breakfast was always plentiful and warm. We had a very large room on the second floor just around from the elevator. The beds were very comfortable - the shower had plenty of pressure. It was a great stay in San Antonio!

"Great location "
Susan R, 14 Novembre 2016

We were in San Antonio for a Notre Dame football game and picked this hotel for the location. This hotel is just off the I35. Walking distance to the Alamodome, the Riverwalk area, Convention Center, Tower of Americas and the Alamo. Very close. We had a King Suite which was large and comfortable. Breakfast was provided which included eggs and sausage as well waffles and other continental breakfast items. My only complaint is the bed was hard and could use a better mattress. I would definitely stay there again.

"Excellent experience "
melifre, 12 Novembre 2016

We were very happy with the hotel and great staff. Benda and Stephanie made feel like part of the family during our stay..The breakfast was the best out all the hotels we have been in,this was certainly the best, Mrs.Vargas and Kizzy was on top of everything. We will be back.

"San Antonio"
Danny G, 10 Novembre 2016

Pros: Great location in proximity to the Alamodome, short, easy 10 minute walk. so we did. Cons: Very limited parking at Hotel site, had to use overflow parking about a block away, didn't like leaving vehicle away from Hotel that far, but Hotel Shuttle car was ready at both times we need to get to vehicle Room lay out was little funky, bed was close to the entry door, with huge suite for seating in the rear. Seemed to us that the bed should have been in rear of room with sitting area closer to entry door. but all in all it was good.

"Good value, good location, good breakfast"
Patrice M, 10 Novembre 2016

Price is good for the location, breakfast excellent, suites are large and spacious. Lighting in the suite could be improved. Great shower! Great bed. We were close to the convention center and the riverwalk.

"San Antonio"
NANCY L, 28 Octobre 2016

This is a great little hotel, very close to the Riverwalk but far enough away to have reasonable prices. We walked everywhere. The room was large, the breakfast great and the staff helpful. Would love to go back.

"Great Hotel in the City!"
reanders19, 28 Octobre 2016

Best Western Plus Sunset Suites is a superb base for exploring San Antonio. It is located within a mile of all major attractions and is on the trolley line. Once done, you return to a HUGE room that is very comfortable. Everything is clean and the bed is perfect for sleeping. The breakfast the next morning is ample and kept well stocked. And, best of all, the staff is the the friendliest and most accommodating we have ever experienced. In many ways, the hotel could be rated higher and the only thing holding it back is absence of some higher end services that most guests, including us, never us. For a great stay at a nice but not luxurious hotel, it can't be beat.

"Excellent location, especially for AMTRAK"
tdy1, 24 Octobre 2016

This hotel is quite old, but maintained as a modern hotel. Was greatly pleased with the location, especially it's only 2 blocks from the Amtrak station and a few blocks to the mall. The only negative was learning, upon arrival, that there was a parking fee. I am handicapped and a veteran, but there were no exceptions for the fee.

"Awesome Hotel"
sophiaarianna2, 21 Octobre 2016

Best hotel ever , Breakfast was amazing the biscuits and gravy were awesome (: Staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very big an spacious beds amazing the sofa sleeper was so comfortable also. i would 100% tell all my friends and family about this beautiful hotel...

we were very pleased with our entire stay ! ! ! the room was very clean and neat--the food at breakfast was really good and a great selection to choose from. this best western is in a good location-----just far enough away from all the sights and crowds, but close enough to walk to most of them.

"Excellent stay"
Thomas O, 20 Octobre 2016

This is a great hotel tucked away from the hustle of downtown. The staff, from the general manager down to the cleaning staff, were very professional and friendly. The room was very spacious. I would highly recommend this property.

"Home Away From Home"
kjw22016, 18 Octobre 2016

Great view of the Tower!!! I just loved waking up in the morning and looking outside. The staff was great! Mrs. Vargas was amazing i just loved her breakfast every morning everything was delicious. Ms. Martha in housekeeping was very helpful i never had to call the front desk to ask them for anything. I had wondered the hotel one night and met Roderick he was just a big teddy bear very funny. I also got to meet the parking attendant Myron very handsome by the way. I didn't even know he was outside patrolling the parking lot. Great job. Knowing he was out there made me not care about the small parking fee. In the morning Amanda and Stephanie were there to greet me. I thought they were sisters. Amanda gave me lots of coupons which was very helpful and i did use almost all of them. I did have a small problem with my drain i went to Stephanie and had Thomas the maintenance man meet me at my room and he fixed the problem right away. I loved everything about the hotel especially the way all the staff connect with one another as if they are all family. Its very very hard to find workers like that. I will most definitely be back so save my room!!!!!

"Surprise type of stay"
lillgood, 13 Octobre 2016

I was in town just wanting a decent place to stay. My friends were at the Hyatt but out of my price range. So my choices were red roof or best Western so I check both out and red roof plus was not a choice with low reviews no breakfast. So for the price I got this room was a steal hot breakfast great staff from Stephanie to Bianca they made my stay great to the great places to go eat to site seeing I was wowed by this and told my friends next time lets stay here save money leave happy thank you Best Western

"I felt right at HOME!!!"
Ana A, 13 Octobre 2016

The staff and reward point programs are second to none. Fine dining selection along the river with full drink service. The breakfast is amazing. ; -) What keeps us coming back is the coffee. OMG amazing fresh coffee that makes yow enjoy getting an early start! Thank you for keeping us happy. We will be back.

"Homeless Guy Outside My Window- Geez Louise"
VintageFutures, 06 Octobre 2016

We checked in on Friday night. 3 rooms, 5 people. What a nightmare. The noise was unbelievable, the clerk at front desk told us it would quiet down in a few hours, it never did. People yelling all night, motorcycles revving until the wee hours. Toilet water pressure and level was scary not sure if it was going to flush half the time and heard another couple complaining about toilet and refrigerator. The property is old, not really attractive but we were looking for a deal. I would have gladly paid at another property the over $700 for a couple of nights had I know this previous to booking. Woke up Saturday morning and opened blinds to see a passed out homeless guy less than 4 ft from our window which by the way had bars??? The room was okay. Musty smelling, sheets were old, dingy didn't appear clean. Didn't expect the additional parking charge that was another $100. The noise from the street was beyond not cool and annoying. Breakfast was okay. The lady named CeCe made breakfast cool. I would not recommend and will not stay again when I go to San Antonio. Positive? If you are a noisey partier, don't care about the riff-raff outside the hotel and want to be downtown then this will probably work for you. Not impressed.

"Nice place for quick stay"
Joegilliam, 04 Octobre 2016

We had very good experiences with this hotel. We were there only for 8 hours. We were traveling by Amtrack and this was strictly a Sleeping stay. Very very Happy with the service and the support the desk staff gave us. There were a couple of minor issues that the staff fixed very quickly. Would come back.

"3 Nights in San Antonio"
Nikki I, 04 Octobre 2016

Upon arrival we were impressed by the pleasant atmosphere of the hotel's interior. Stepping out of the elevator revealed soft spots in the flooring all the way down the hall to our room. Our room keys had to be reissued every time we left the hotel & returned. The bed was quite hard and uncomfortable. The TV worked well. Hotel was conveniently located to the convention center where our conference was held. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was great!

"Ok for a one night stay"
Colin L, 03 Octobre 2016

Room was decent, comfortable bed, but a surprise on checking in that there was a fee plus taxes for parking that was not included in room rate, the parking was not even secure just an open parking lot. breakfast was adequate

"San Antonio weekend get away"
Charles M, 30 Septembre 2016

i travel a lot for work and stay in many hotels and the Best Western Plus Sunset - Suites Riverwalk ranks up there in my top five. The shower was the best. Morning breakfast, all i have to say is if you go away hungry its your on fault. very convenient to all the downtown attractions.

"Very quiet and comfortable"
WavesJ-PA, 28 Septembre 2016

For being close to an elevated highway, the room was very quiet. The hotel is only 4 floors, so it seems like a small cozy place. And perhaps it wasn't high season yet, but we found the floor to be very quiet inside, too. The interior was a subdued southwest motif and the room was very spacious-- 2 beds and a seating area. The desk staff were welcoming and able to help with local info and a ride to the airport. The free breakfast was the standard fare, but adequate. It is a very close to the Convention Center and the Riverwalk (although not directly on the Riverwalk- maybe a 10 minute walk). There are some great restaurants in the nearby blocks to check out, too.

"OK place to saty"
JMBmelbaus, 25 Septembre 2016

nothing fancy about this place, it was ok - I guess that's why it has 3 stars. one thing is is within walking distance to river walk, alamo and the mall so that was good. We had extremely hot and humid weather which made walking very difficult so it was good we were not to far from the sites, Smoke the resturant was also across the street and this was really good (see my review) The train station is also right there for amtrack so it would be within walking distance. we did not pay for parking, due to being a rewards member, but there is a fee you do get breakfast, but most of the items were not very hot when we went so this was a disappointment, maybe early in the am might be ok - we went about 9am and they stop serving at 9:30am

"good location, bad hotel"
bronx616, 23 Septembre 2016

The hotel is only a short walk to the River Walk. The down side is the rooms need much attention, stained chairs, internet so bad that I was unable to log onto the Best Western homepage... Lighting, don't plan to read!, Breakfast we had cod eggs and cold sausage. Bathroom had broken and mismatched sanitary tiles.

"Worst hotel ever"
joethehoe, 21 Septembre 2016

When we checked in, we were given (supposedly) a newly renovated room on the 1st floor. The room was disgusting. It smelled of must and mildew, and there was a lot of blood stains on the bedding and bed skirt. We went back to the front desk and she offered another room on the third floor(which she said was a higher end room). While heading to the room it was hard not to notice how dirty the hallway carpets were. We entered the room and immediately were hit with the smell of must and mildew(my wifes asthma immediately flared up again). The shower curtain was torn and the shower head was dislodged from the wall. The tub was dirty and hadn't looked like it had been cleaned in weeks. This hotel was the most disgusting i have ever seen.

"Not Happy - so many problems"
USAFoodsGuy, 20 Septembre 2016

Disappointing for a Best Western Plus, just got here not long ago and I already want to leave! The rooms are advertised as ‘All Suites', not really – there just a bit bigger room. A suite generally has a separated seating area that is removed from the area where the bed is, not so here. The lighting is very poor, don't plan to read at night – no overhead lighting and the lamps are low and have florescent fixtures which are low light and yellow. The bathroom has broken sanitary wall tiles – not very nice. The ‘high speed internet' NOT – takes a few minutes just to download the yahoo homepage. Good News – the front counter staff are very nice and professional.

"Great hotel and great location. "
Karen E, 19 Septembre 2016

This hotel is very pretty. It is conveniently located to the Alamo, Tower of Americas, and the Riverwalk. The hotel staff, Brittany, was especially helpful in suggesting points of interest and a local eatery. This facility is a great value for your money.

"Nice place but get an inside room"
worldair, 18 Septembre 2016

We stayed for two nights and had a sixth floor outside view room. It sounded like traffic and ambulances were driving through the room. At 6:30 every morning the trash truck would empty the dumpsters. Request a room overlooking the interior courtyard. The staff were great and the breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Wifi was poor.

"Good hotel, okay location"
Euler01, 18 Septembre 2016

I had a couple of nights at the hotel in September 2016. The location is okay - there are many hotels closer to the city centre, with this being a 5-10 minute walk to get to a lot of touristy places. I saw a couple of interesting characters by the freeway underpass en route to the riverwalk. The room was excellent. Spotless, huge, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was included but quite limited and the cooked options weren't great. Overall, it's a decent choice if you get a good deal.

"Would totally recommend"
Katie E, 14 Septembre 2016

Recently stayed at the Best Western Sunset Suites for 2 nights while in town on vacation. Hotel was very easy to get to, as everyone says extremely close to the Riverwalk without having to pay Riverwalk prices. The rooms were very large and extremely clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. Never noticed any road noise, but I was on the parking lot side of the hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

"Good value, great location."
Mike P, 14 Septembre 2016

Historical location within walking distance to Riverwalk. Have stayed at the Best Western Sunset Suites several times and always find the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Be warned, they recently started charging for parking, but still a fair value. Easy on and easy off Interstate 37.

"Great Experience"
Rodney W, 13 Septembre 2016

We loved this hotel. The lobby and the decor in it are beautiful. It reminds me of some of the classy older hotels back east which are old, but kept up, which adds to their charm! The rooms were modern and attractive. Our hotel hostess (clerk) , Bianca, was very knowledgeable, friendly and solicitous of us as guests. We would definitely book a reservation there again if we return to San Antonio.

"Would not recommend"
rmfoutch, 11 Septembre 2016

Not worth the money. Room had a musty smell, lots of road traffic noise, front desk was not friendly, and very limited parking, plus they charge $14 for parking, then wanted to put us in their extended lot which was not in a very desirable location.

"No Pool :("
rocketman000, 10 Septembre 2016

Nice big room ( 110 , ground floor !! ) . great beds !! small pillows :( very comfortable , quiet , in good condition. the front desk ladies very nice , especially AMANDA. she gave us all sorts of coupons for all sorts of stuff. the breakfast room is nice and big. typical BW offering. Coffee ???? Location is good , at the east end of dt. close to a huge mall.

"Great Hotel in a Superb Location!"
we_are_brighton, 01 Septembre 2016

We stayed at the Best Western Sunset Suites - Riverwalk for two nights on our Road Trip in May this year. The hotel was in a great location to visit the Riverwalk and The Alamo only being an easy 10 minutes walk away. Contrary to some reviews that have questioned the safety of the area, we didn't have any problems and never felt any unease! The staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was great to get you started for the day! Room was not the biggest, but certainly adequate with a comfortable bed and very clean. We also had no problems parking in the hotel car park and had no need to use the overflow parking slightly further away as some other reviewers have mentioned. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting San Antonio! Price was very reasonable for it's location close to the Riverwalk.

"Overflow parking is an issue"
brennakis, 28 Août 2016

DO NOT CHECK IN IF YOU ARE SENT TO OVERFLOW PARKING YOU WILL NOT GET A REFUND IF YOU DO NOT FEEL SECURE THERE. Make sure you are okay with the parking location before you check in. If you have to park in overflow parking. We checked in on a busy night and told we would have to park off site for $15. I checked into our room, and while my husband waited for hotel staff. They took him to a sketchy, dark, and apparently unsecured location to park our vehicle. He refused to park there, and we left the room. The female front desk staff did not apologize or try to find us other accommodations but said if we left they would not give us a refund and was a little rude about it. We left, drove home 125 miles away and called the general manager the next day. He also refused to give us a refund, except for parking. The Best Western customer service at their toll free number was not much help either, since they follow whatever the property management says. So we got charged $164 for a 15 minute wait "stay" in a hotel room. I cannot rate sleep quality since I never even touched the bed, but we would have been up all night worried about our vehicle. Ultimately we did get a refund from corporate so thank you to the customer service oriented people there! I have stayed at other BW properties and have great experiences but I will certainly choose another property on one of my frequent visits to San Antonio. I hope they have improved their overflow lot and refund policy since our visit.

"San Antonio"
Michael P, 25 Août 2016

I stayed here for four nights in May. The hotel is walking distance to the centre of San Antonio and has a reasonably big shopping centre a couple of minutes walk from the door. The hotel itself is nice and the building has a lot of character. My room was massive and had a nice view out the front of the building. I didn't hear any noise from the road at night. Bed was comfortable. Room had everything one would need. Breakfast was good. I'm planning on visiting San Antonio again next year and would definitely consider the Sunset Suites. Staff were extremely friendly. Special mention to Brenda, who checked me in. She is the friendliest and most welcoming person I've come across in a hotel. A true asset to your establishment.

"Needs updates but great location"
Connie J, 22 Août 2016

The room was okay, and the stairwell and hallways definitely reeked of dirty carpet, but it's exactly what you would expect got the price point. I would stay here again, the staff was accommodating and the breakfast was good. The location is phenomenal for walking to the Riverwalk and great freeway access. I would definitely stay here again.

"Great time in the Alamo city!!!"
Scott D, 21 Août 2016

This was our 2nd stay at the Best Western PLUS Sunset Suites-Riverwalk. We really like its close proximity to the Riverwalk, the Alamo and other local downtown attractions. The rooms are large, decorated nicely and clean. Breakfast is not your normal paper plates and plastic utensils, but real plates and silverware. We look forward to returning in the near future.

"Room had a humid stinky smell, beds are hard, and parking has low security."
Karinalizette, 20 Août 2016

When we arrived we noticed parking was small and had no security, it was also not covered, just FYI. At night it gets full and they have a separate overflow parking. Our room had a very bad humid stink smell which I addressed but it was not taken care of. It smelled the whole four nights we were there. Their beds are also uncomfortably hard. An upside is their breakfast was good and the staff was friendly.

"Great hotel"
Kimberly B, 19 Août 2016

Fast check in. Used trolley to go to the market and Alamo, etc. Didn't have any problems. We enjoyed our stay. Beds were great. Stayed here before and would stay again. Breakfast was Ok! Two day pass on trolley was only $ 4.00.

"I wanted to like this hotel"
B9795GAjohnb, 13 Août 2016

They do a ot of things right at this hotel, and I enjoyed my stay until I experienced an unpleasant problem with my room on the last morning. I think it is how the staff handles problems that can really set a hotel apart. Unfortunately, management did not feel that anything was warranted here. They should have cut me just a little break on my stay to offset a unpleasant situation, but they chose to do nothing. The rest of the staff were great, but that was poor customer service.

"good stay"
Justin V, 13 Août 2016

not a bad stay here in San Antonio. alot better than the red roof inn. great breakfast . only draw back is the over flow parking lot it's about a block away. other than that great stay. the ac works like a champ room stayed cold all the time. short walk to the river walk

"Good Hotel"
kathyw0560, 10 Août 2016

Good location , short walking distance from the river walk.It doesn't look that great from the outside, however the inside is very nice. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The complementary buffet breakfast is a plus.

"Everything is bigger in texas"
Helena W, 10 Août 2016

Wow!!! Very posh! Massive room/ suite and massive bed! Coffee maker, fridge and microwave in room. Clean and well presented. Effective air con. Bathroom clean with lots of hot water and clean towels. Awesome water preassure!! You really get the feeling like they care- like they made the extra effort. Brakfast was lovely- lots of choice including make your own waffle mix and w sizes of waffle iron!! They let us leave our bags with them intill our flight There was a bit of road noise in the room - might bother a very light sleeper. Also no cental ceiling light. Just lots of lamps around the room. Made it kinda dark but hardly a problem. With in walking distance of the alamo and the river walk Very very impresed with this hotel- 100% recommended!

"overall, good hotel for business travel"
Robert G, 08 Août 2016

Positives: very helpful staff, great breakfast, a 5-minute walk from the San Antonio convention center, 10 minutes from the Riverwalk Negatives: walls as thin as tissue paper (I was listening to snoring from the next room), cramped parking But--I bring a "white noise" machine when I travel, so it worked out fine :)

"Good for business not for family staying"
Claudia D, 07 Août 2016

Clean, quiet and convenient location. Parking is an issue if you don't like to leave your car on the street. There is no pool; no restaurant. If you are staying with kids there is nothing to keep them entertained.

"Best hotel and staff!"
Danny W, 04 Août 2016

Arrived first night late, night staff Roderick and Myron were awesome. Morning staff just as great. Very helpful when we had to layover an extra day dt van issue. Very accommodating. Beds and room clean. Housekeeping staff met every need and more. Breakfast to top it off just outstanding. Everything that was supposed to be hot was. Cold was cold. Eggs, meat, and all the sides you could want. Price reasonable too. And in the middle of all the great tourist attractions. Wish I could have enjoyed, but gives our family a reason to come back to such a great hotel. Thank you again for being so accommodating. The breakfast staff to very kind and helpful too. What a great crew!!

"View of Tower of Americas"
CathyDArizona, 03 Août 2016

Nice hotel and close to Riverwalk to lots of good restaurants. Very helpful and efficient staff at check in. when they told us breakfast hours I told them I had to leave earlier and they said to stop by desk and they would have sacks with yogurt, fruit and energy bars. However, when we stopped by in the morning the young man behind the counter said he didn't see any and he certainly did not go out of his way to rectify the situation. When we got to the train station our train was delayed - sure could have used that breakfast bag.

"Very Pleasant Stay"
James C, 02 Août 2016

This boutique hotel was in a great location for me since I came in on the train. The station is just a few blocks away and within walking distance. Many of the downtown attractions (including the river walk) were also within walking distance although the San Antonio summer heat can make taxis or the trolley look more attractive. My room was spacious with a king bed and sofa with a microwave and small refrigerator. The room was clean and in good condition. They have a gift shop where you can purchase food and drink items including microwavable food items. There are also numerous restaurants in the area that deliver if you want to stay in. The staff was very nice. There was a slight delay in getting me checked in and I was offered a free soda for the inconvenience. The free breakfast featured self made waffles as well as scrambled eggs and sausage plus several bread selections and coffee and juice. It was plenty adequate for me. I didn't use the parking but apparently the lot fills up quickly. My only minor complaint was the lack of lighting in the room. The lamps were beautiful but the amount of light they produced left a lot to be desired. Opening the curtains during the day was pretty much a necessity for me. All in all, I had a pleasant stay and will be back.

"Great Place to Stay"
Georganne B, 01 Août 2016

This was a really nice little hotel to stay in right off of downtown, so convenient. The staff was friendly and professional. The restaurant they recommended for dinner was absolutely delicious - Maria Mia's on the Riverwalk. Loved this place. They just need to add a pool to be perfect!

"Best Western Plus just Average"
Monica J, 31 Juillet 2016

Pros: friendly staff, location, price, parking fee for the area was reasonable, breakfast Cons: traffic noise, lack of lighting and outlets in the room, no safe deposit box in the room (you can request one but too small to fit laptop or tablet), sofa sleeper had an odor, stains in the carpet and shower curtains. Water from shower spraying onto the wall; this is concerning b/c over time this will create mold.

"Awesome Staff"
David L, 31 Juillet 2016

Brenda and Alexa went out of their way to make us feel welcome and relaxed. We were able to get parking up close and a room in the quiet part of the hotel with their help. Dinner spots recommended and suggested by them were great also .

"Awesome stay"
Larry J, 29 Juillet 2016

We were in San Antonio for two conventions at the Gonzales convention center. The Best Western Plus Sunset Suites is very convenient to the convention center. Awesome place. Very friendly staff. Very helpful as well. We will be back.

"Awesome hotel"
Courtney J, 25 Juillet 2016

It was very friendly and the staff was the absolute best. They worked with my family and I. It's not really close to the River walk, but the scenery is absolutely beautiful. The buildings and the location were very good. The only other downside is that it has no pool. The breakfast was the best. Great hotel. My family and I will definitely stay again.

"Location and Brenda the desk clerk top notch"
CAJoetraveler, 25 Juillet 2016

First of all the location is first rate; walkable to the River Walk and the Alamodome. We found out that the hotel is due to have a substantial remodel soon which will make this choice even better. Brenda (Kirkpatrick, I think) the desk clerk was extremely kind, and very sincere in her desire to all she could to make our stay perfect. Free wifi, worked great for me. Good breakfast with fresh fruit and hot choices as well. Parking limited but they have an overflow lot not far away.

"Less than I expected"
Patcintra, 25 Juillet 2016

After reading the reviews abou the hotel we decided to book 3 rooms in this hotel for 2 nights since we are travelling with our daughter, my father in law and my mother. We arrived by lunch but our room was not ready what wasn t a problem for us , I just asked the lady in the front desk to hold our luggage so we could enjoy the city . I was surprised when she asked me why I need to leave the luggage in the hotel, that I should leave it in the car.I had to explain that we were travelling with our parents and that we need the car because they couldn t walk long distances so she decided to help us. By afternoon we did the check in and the room had a decent size and a refrigerator but it was very dark even with all lights turned on .Breakfast was good in a nice area. Hotel location was ok , close to area attactions but in an area not very busy so I didn t feel confortable to walk in this area at night. During check out we had another problem with the front desk, as we had pre paid our rooms in Brazil our credit card was just for incidentals and parking so I when to the front desk and told them that we were checking out and that I want to pay in cash for the parking( once my country charges 7% for all expenses that we do overseas with credit card) for my surprise the lady told me that she had already chargeded in my credit card the parking because many people leave without paying and sometimes the cards are declined so they had to charge before the person leaves the hotel. I travel a lot and I ve never seen something like that,I was really disappointed and dont recommend this hotel since the service was really poor

"Excellent all the way around!"
Jennifer T, 24 Juillet 2016

We stopped in San Antonio for the night and choose the hotel based on reviews. We arrived after 9 PM and it was a full house. It was very busy at the front desk. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and didn't skip a beat even with multiple walk up interruptions. She gave us a brief history of the building, now the hotel and encouraged us to look around at the pictures to learn more. She also helped us to find dinner upon our late arrival. We had to park in the over flow lot and were provided prompt transportation back by a very nice gentleman. He also offered suggestions of additional things to do while in San Antonio. He also gave more information about the hotel history. We enjoyed walking out to dinner and down on the River Walk. Our room was clean, well taken care of and a good nights rest. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but, it was available if we needed. We were promptly taken to our vehicle in the morning and on our way to see San Antonio. We would definitely stay here again! I would love to come back to San Antonio for a longer visit and stay here again!

"Great place to stay! "
mrjodyandconnie, 23 Juillet 2016

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was to stay at! We were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do near the river walk! The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was great! The staff was amazing! Will stay here again!

"Great place to stay except for parking cost"
GAYE P, 15 Juillet 2016

The hotel had a great location, It was about a 10 minute walk to the riverwalk. The room was excellent. The staff was professional. The breakfast was excellent. The only negative was the parking fee. The hotel charges a parking fee of 12,95 per night. When we made our reservations the parking fee was not mentioned. I believe this fee should be disclosed when you make your reservation not when you check in.

"San Anton Visit"
MarshmellowM, 13 Juillet 2016

This was my first visit to San Antonio. My husband had been here over 48 years ago when he was in the Air Force. Very nice hotel and a short walk to Riverwalk. Prices very reasonable. We stayed four nights with another couple. Room decorated in the Mission Style reminds me of Frank Loyd Wright. Hotel is close to The Alamo and sightseeing busses. Staff gracious. Good breakfast. I would return and stay again if we visit this area.

"Great Decor"
SnS_10, 11 Juillet 2016

Location was good, easy walk to the river walk area and we saw the trolley car passing several times but we did not use it. Mission style decor in the lobby and rooms was lovely. We stayed in a king suite on the ground floor. The room was clean and quiet and appeared to have been recently decorated. Breakfast room was well set up and staff made sure everything was kept filled and the area was very clean.

"Hotel Stay"
Charles L, 10 Juillet 2016

Excellent Trip. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was very professional and friendly. They were very helpful with recommending local sites and attractions to visit. They front desk staff went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. The maids ensured the rooms were clean. The breakfast contained a great variety of foods to enjoy.

"IF YOUR LOOKING FOR TROUBLE THIS IS THE PLACE TO COME!!"
John R, 09 Juillet 2016

WARNING WARNING WARNING. Do not trust this hotel. the staff are thief's. I had 1500 dollars stolen from my safe deposit box. I left it at the front desk trusting the hotel. I had to call the police to the hotel. the stress and anger this hotel caused me was unbelievable. I would never stay at a best western hotel again.

"Great choice for Conference "
davdell0812, 07 Juillet 2016

My wife and I and 2 co-workers stayed in 2 rooms for 4 nights in this hotel for a conference. Everything about our stay was perfect. The hotel is spotless, provides a great variety of breakfast foods, and the staff is superb. As mentioned, parking is limited, but the hotel provides transportation to an overflow lot in a VERY efficient manner. I never had to wait more than a few minutes to get to my vehicle. This hotel is within a few minutes walk to the Gonzales Convention Center and about a 10 minute walk to the Riverwalk. If I am ever in San Antonio again, I would definitely stay here.

"Booking "
Kim N, 07 Juillet 2016

We booked this room through Trip Advisor, only to discover that there were no rooms available upon trying to check in. We had to find another room at a different hotel after traveling 8+ hours from El Paso. The desk clerk was very apologetic about it. We were supposed to hear from the booking agency. They called and the connection was lost. Never heard from them again.

"Short walk gentle atmosphere on the street"
Sanna R, 06 Juillet 2016

A good place to spend a night or two while at convention. Within safe walking distance of Henry B Gonzalez and the Riverwalk Mall. Though on the street very quiet. Parking is limited. Staff was more than courteous and all were very knowledgeable.

"No compassion"
Enrique M, 05 Juillet 2016

I accidentally booked at this hotel on the wrong date. As I explained my case to the hotel's GM, he became very demeaning and reveled in being unhelpful. Due to the fact that I booked the room for the night before, I never got a chance to stay, but I still paid for accommodations I never recieved. The manager refused to adjust my reservation for the next day and never offered a compromise for the situation at hand. Some hotel points, a discount on my next stay, some type of effort would've been nice.

"Good stay"
Niquette P, 05 Juillet 2016

overall very nice hotel in a good location by the riverwalk. Clean and nice appearance. nice morning buffet style breakfast and friendly staff. Would have been extra nice if the hotel had a pool or a hot tub. The pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable for my son to sleep in, but will just have to make sure we get a double room next time.

"San Antonio Visit"
Randy B, 03 Juillet 2016

Check in was quick and pleasant. Rooms are large with view of the Alamo Dome. The remote control failed to work and discovered it had no battery. That was quickly solved with a call to the desk. The shower was very slow to drain and although we notified the desk, it was not fixed at our time of departure. The mattress was a bit firm for me. They did have a good breakfast and it was different each day we ate there.

"San Antonio Downtown Stay"
J. M, 03 Juillet 2016

Great location to San Antonio Landmarks such as the River walk, Alamo and Tower of the Americas...etc.. Wonderful Staff, Clean Rooms and Great Breakfast to get you on your way for the day. Loved the Historical Look of the hotel. if driving, Parking can be a challenge.

Hotel was good , excellent service. One thing I m I ssed was a pool . After driving all day and getting into to Texas humidity it would have been nice to swim. The bed was very nice, nice fluffy white towels, refrig, very convenient to the river walk. Breakfast was very good eggs, ham, waffles and all the other stuff. I would recommend this property

"Summer Vacation 2016"
RUDY C, 30 Juin 2016

We were in summer vacation in Houston Tx., decided to go to San Antonio, TX before going home. I booked this hotel on from trivago.com.The price was reasonable. When I got there, I was told that there was a parking fee for my car $12.50 plus tax. Also the ad said queen beds, the bed were small probably full size. The room was good size. IT did hot at times at night in the room. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good.

"Great staff!"
Janet D, 29 Juin 2016

Very friendly, cheerful, and helpful staff. Great value for the location. The location was excellent for the convention center. The room was clean and nicely furnished. It could use a little more light and bigger pillows though.

"Cozy/Romantic environment, Incredible Customer Svc, No resort fee!!!"
handsmoffcr, 27 Juin 2016

Was skeptical with reviews, but took chance anyways. Wow, what an amazing all around property, The employees here rival competitors like Omni and Marriott properties. The deal we got was amazing and was probably $200 less a night than the two I just mentioned!! We checked in early considering the flight arrived at 10 a.m and to my amazement the Mgr ANA walked out and said "No problem, I'm sure its been a long morning already". STEPHANIE, the front desk clerk greeted us every morning and RON every evening when we arrived back making us feel like were in the episode of Cheers, except in a Hotel. The rooms were amazing, lighting was perfect, decor was gorgeous (we are tired of modern/contemporary look) bed was hard but an incredible night sleep every night so kudos to the mattress. The breakfast, although eggs are like powder, the remainder and service by Caetherine (I believe her name was) FIRST class. Where else can you find a hotel charging only $13 to park (please dont increase it :) ) and NO resort fee from what I see!! We stayed at the hotel down the street previously for $33 every night,,,crazy. Overall, This property is amazing, It's not next to the Alamo if you want to be right downtown. My 10 y/o and I walked every morning and evening to downtown and it's quick, and about a 5 minute walk. The Hotel is well worth it and I always hate recognizing a great property, because prices increase across the board, but if they don't change any pricing, This hotel is one of the most amazing quaint hotels I ever stayed at. Great Job Ron, Stephanie, Ana, Caetherine and to the housekeeper we had whom was so Personal every day!!! Ana find out whom it was and take care of her. Hope to see you all soon and remember your staff rivals that of the Marriott!!

"Close to Alamo Dome"
107irenea, 27 Juin 2016

For a down home friendly feeling and close-in hotel, this was a great place to stay with helpful, caring staff. Car pool to hotel and split the daily parking fee. No pool on site, but pool privileges with shuttle to and from pool location at another hotel. Very quiet, comfortable suites that have fridge and micro and coffee. Also fresh coffee, hot cocoa and tea in lobby, free 24/7 is a nice perk along with hot breakfast of eggs, waffles and much more. Large wood bed frame can make navigating the room a bit tight. Overall, lovely stay.

"Nice for the money"
Melanie J, 26 Juin 2016

No need to post addtional photos because the hotel is represented honestly on its website. The hotel is in a great location for walking to the convention center, Rivercenter Mall, and the Riverwalk. It offers a simple hot breakfast which is a plus especially given the fair rate of the rooms per night. Incan attest to the issue of street noise which actually didn't bother us too much but it is present. Also, our room had a weird smell, not quite sour but I imagine its from the soiled carpet. The only improvement that I would suggest is that they clean the carpet or replace it when it is stained so badly. Otherwise, the staff is exceptional and I would stay again if looking for a budget friendly option.

"Enjoyed staying here!"
Kelly M, 26 Juin 2016

We really enjoyed our stay and it was much nicer than our friend's room at the Grand Hyatt. Parking was half the price, there was free breakfast, the room was very nice and very homey, and the staff were very friendly. Easy walk to the river walk and Alamodome, very convenient. We would stay there again.

"Wonderful!!"
montrac, 23 Juin 2016

Roderick was the best front desk person!! He was very helpful in finding street tacos and making me feel at home!! Love this hotel! Very clean hotel, comfy and very great breakfast! I'm glad there is security guard at night to make us feel safe.

"Excellent hotel/Excellent staff"
John H, 23 Juin 2016

Went to a convention at the nearby Alamodome and chose Best Western because of the location and price. I am sure glad I did. The staff was excellent: the clerk who check me in greeted me by name every time I passed by and helped me with several problems I had, not related to the hotel. The mission style/art deco furnishings really brought me back to an earlier time; I thought I was at one of the Grand Canyon old hotels or at an original Harvey House. Really set off a relaxing atmosphere. The complementary breakfast was terrific; the offering varied slightly each day we were there. There was even iced tea at all hours in the lobby. Staff; Location (it is also near the Riverwalk); Furnishings: BINGO.

"What a Gem!"
Mary D, 20 Juin 2016

We needed a place close to the Alamodome and we chose this hotel. It was perfect. More perfect that any of the other higher priced places. Location was fabulous. Staff was amazing. Everything was top notch. It was a great value for the $$

"Terrible parking situation...plus they make you pay!"
Patrick D, 19 Juin 2016

The hotel was fantastic. However, they have a TINY parking lot, so there is never open parking spaces. AND they charge you $13 a day for the privilege of walking blocks away to an overflow parking lot. I will NEVER stay there again.

"clean and friendly"
Laura M, 19 Juin 2016

Staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was hot and you had many choices. The room was clean and dark. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our trip to San Antonio and we will stay here again when we come back to town!

"Gorgeous lobby"
HouMSW, 18 Juin 2016

Best Western hotels tend to be a good value, and with a deal on hotels.com, this came up as the perfect choice for a convention at the Alamodome. The lobby is gorgeous, with stained glass and tin ceilings and original brickwork. Attached to the lobby is a four-story generic hotel, with decent rooms containing a microwave and fridge. All the rooms are "suites," meaning extra space for a desk and an easy chair. So far so good. Breakfast is the generic hotel breakfast: doughy pastries, yogurt, sludgy oatmeal, Fruity Pebbles. It would make more sense to give everyone a breakfast package upon check-in. Front desk service was lovely. Two irritants expressed by previous reviewers: the cards lost their code. The usual proximity to heat/cellphone/credit card was the excuse, but I don't have this problem elsewhere. The real problem is the parking. Forget this off-site crap, when you pay $14/night to park, you expect a parking space. We had to think long and hard before giving up our space to go out for dinner. It's crazy to make decisions on that basis.

"Nice hotel, but some frustrating issues"
aking0627, 16 Juin 2016

We really enjoyed our stay for the most part. Check in was seamless, and the woman who checked us in was so friendly. She offered great advice, took her time to answer our questions, and any time she was working the front desk throughout the week of our stay she would say hello and make sure things were going well. The hotel breakfast was okay... nothing remarkable, but enough options to keep us from getting bored. The room itself was nice. We booked for 2 adults and one child expecting to get a room with 2 beds, but ended up with a king and a fold out couch. The fold out was pretty terrible, with a 3 inch mattress over bars and springs. My son, who is 4 years old, had a hard time sleeping on it so we all ended up in the bed which made it hard for all of us to rest. Despite that, we still enjoyed the room and were impressed with it overall. We had some issues with our key cards throughout the stay - we had to get them recoded daily, as they would stop working. They said keeping them next to a phone would make them not work, but sometimes the cards were kept on top of a dresser, in a pocket alone, in a purse, etc and still kept malfunctioning. That was annoying, but not a huge deal. The major issue arose when we returned from dinner the last night of our trip only to find there were no available parking spaces. There was an overflow lot available "a few minutes away", but I was not comfortable with having my car a mile or more away from the hotel, especially since we had to pack our car to leave in the morning. I can understand if this was an issue in a free parking lot, and would have been annoyed but not upset. However, considering we had to pay $14 a night for parking, this was unacceptable. We sat in the car for about 20 minutes and were fortunate to get a space when someone left. The employee holding the front door and the one in charge of driving guests back from the overflow lot both had poor attitudes, explaining "parking here is first come first serve" and rolling their eyes when I told them I would wait for a spot. It seems to me that there should be other options when the lot is full.. valet, closer overflow, or parking under the awning by the front desk until someone leaves and they could notify us in our rooms all seem like better options than expecting guests to pay to park their vehicles far from the hotel. What was a pretty exceptional stay turned sour with the frustration and unnecessary attitude we experienced on the last night.

"Lovely, friendly hotel"
madamehughes, 15 Juin 2016

We chose this hotel because it was so close to the Amtrak station as we had to leave around 1 am for our train (we stayed two nights), but it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. The hotel is historic but all the fixtures were up to date, the amenities overall were everything one would want (including a boxed breakfast since we had to leave to early), all the employees went our of their ways to assist us and were very friendly and polite (the night manager even insisted on having the security guard drive us to the Amtrak station about 3 blocks away due to the hour). The bed was very comfortable, and the décor was very nice. One could easily walk to the Riverwalk Mall at the Marriott, but there was a bus stop a few yards from the hotel where busses and sightseeing trolleys picked up, so everything was convenient. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to others, especial Amtrak passengers.

"better than expected"
christinal262, 13 Juin 2016

I had a late check in and they were very accommodating. Sometimes the staff makes your stay a little better. Rooms were clean, breakfast was great and staff was friendly. Close to river walk. This location doesn't have a swimming pool.

"Very Convenient"
stevenlK8612RD, 13 Juin 2016

A nice property well located for the River Walk. The Hotel was clean and what you would expect from this chain in an urban setting. No surprises which is a good thing. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. Kudos to Roderick and Brenda.

"Great employee staff, very solid experience"
Aliasnial, 10 Juin 2016

At the very beginning, you check-in with a receptionist. I checked in with a very pleasant lady named Brenda K., whom went above and beyond with her customer service. The rooms were clean, and comfortable, more than enough for a solid hotel.

"Great price and nice room but horrible internet"
fdipace, 10 Juin 2016

Very nice hotel which is located "across" the highway from the riverwalk/Alamo so it does require a 10-15 minute walk under the overpass to access tourist spots. I was lucky to have a large room which faced the parking lot so my room was quiet. I suggest you request one that faces the parking lot and not Commerce street since its a busy street and can be noisy. Parking is VERY limited so if you can't find a spot you must park off site and they will follow with a van (not convenient at all) however for the low price of the room (hotwire) its worth it. The rooms are big, not sure why they call them suites (maybe because there is a little fridge), however mine was very large, clean but dark. The lights are all amber colored so reading is out! I travel for work and this hotel has the worst internet I've ever tried. If you are coming to SA for business I would avoid this hotel just because of their internet connection or should I say total lack of connection, it is very frustrating. However, the tv is a very large flat screen with over 74 channels. It was great to watch a movie. The bed was firm but I had no problem, the pillows are cheap and uncomfortable. (Very lumpy). The fitness center is an afterthought and they should just eliminate it. The hotel clerk who checked me in was extremely nice and personable. She is a true asset to this hotel. Over all for the price I would definitely stay here again.

"Not up to Best Western Standards"
Beverly K, 10 Juin 2016

Although this hotel is within walking distance of Riverwalk, the distance is not walkable due to traffic and safety issues. What was really disappointing was arriving on the 4th floor and being hit by an musty odor that was a combination of mold and some sort of cleaning or cover up product that set off constant sneezing and left me with a serious sinus headache all night long. Apparently there had been a flooding problem but the carpeting was not replaced. Now this Best Western is the highest priced in San Antonio but they also charge $12 a night for parking. In addition, every wooden surface is swimming in lemon oil which gets picked up by everything you set on it. On top of everything else, we didn't receive our Best Western loyalty points because we booked through Trip Adviser instead of directly with the hotel.

"Fantastic Customer Service"
felice953, 09 Juin 2016

The staff at the hotel were fantastic. Bianca Riley at the front desk always greeted me with a smile and provided help at every opportunity. The staff in the kitchen were also very attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and quiet. Great location for meetings at the conference center. Room lighting could be improved.

"Great Hotel!"
Staceywho, 06 Juin 2016

Me and my sister stayed at his hotel in April, so apologies for the delayed review but it we had a great time here. Thank you to the ladies on the reception desk, (there were two in particular but we didn't take names) who always greeted us and who were really helpful. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Alamo and Riverwalk and most organised tours pick up from the hotel, we did the Texas Hill Country tour. For Airport Shuttles we found that the majority of the time we were the first dropped off when arriving into San Antonio and the last collected going to the airport - we had an internal flight between so did the journey twice. Breakfast is served in a small dining area in the lobby, and had a good mix of foods on offer - waffles, pastries, toast, fruit etc. There's also a small shop located by reception for snacks and drinks. We stayed on the third floor and found the rooms quite spacious. Even though the hotel is located near the highway there was very little disturbance in our hotel rooms. We were lucky enough to stay in San Antonio during carnival and found the hotel really reasonably priced for location and amenities.

"Avoid at all costs"
Dorothy W, 06 Juin 2016

Extremely disappointed, Very old and it shows significantly. Stayed on first floor, street view. Heavy traffic noise. Air conditioner very noisy. Toilet very noisy. Carpet dirty. Terrible room odor, musty and mold smell. The lighting was extremely poor in the room. With every light on, could not read a book. It's a shame that they charge 12.95 per night for parking when you are patronizing their hotel. Gee - free breakfast but charge for parking - what a deal. Small mushy pillows.

"Clean and Convenient"
JRNSydney_Australia, 01 Juin 2016

This is a typically furnished and run Best West with its most convenient feature being that is just five minutes walk down a main street to both the Conference Centre and nearest access point to the Riverwalk, then only another five minutes round the corner to The Alamo. Frankly once you have seen the Alamo and eaten on the Riverwalk there is not much else in San Antonio so you are done. The BestWest saves you the sky high prices of the 5* chains that have built themselves directly on the river. We had an ordinary hotel room I would have said, so I don't know where the "all suites" comes from. Nicely furnished, decent shower and towels, comfortable bed etc. Unfortunately our room was on the ground floor with an awning outside and trees so we had almost no natural light, while the dark orange side lights did not alleviate that. Note that you are charged an extra $15 night for parking but that too is cheaper than anywhere else in SA. Not a very lively area round the hotel, although the streets are brightly lit and safe to walk it is on the corner of main roads and most of the adjacent shopfronts empty at present. I would recommend the hotel for convenience to the town centre, that short walk could save you several hundred dollars.

"Excellent location, clean room."
Christian R, 31 Mai 2016

Had a clean room with an excellent location. I really enjoyed the comfort of the bed and the a/c was rocking all day on a hot texas day. I loved the walking distance to the riverwalk, can't beat the price for a downtown stay. Loved it.... free lemonade at the lobby.

"Excellent choice for hotel"
Brandy G, 31 Mai 2016

From the check-in with Brenda at the front desk to the breakfast every morning and the wonderful rooms, this hotel was an excellent choice for my families vacation. Very clean, great location, free wi-fi and wonderful helpful staff! I would give it a 5!!

"business trip"
Michael A, 31 Mai 2016

clean, well kept, very friendly staff, helpful, and close to activities. the hotel in a area of good highway access, a part of town the city is really trying to revive easy access to river walk, more important close to Sunset Station activates.

"Great hotel in a wonderful location"
gawkdontstare, 30 Mai 2016

Great little hotel only 5 minutes walk from the attractions of downtown, and very close to the Alamodome as well. Paid parking but not overly expensive. Brenda at the front desk was FANTASTIC. She had lots of advice on where to start our trip and was a smiling face every time we passed by. The suites were very large spacious. My one complaint is that the windows seem to be very thin - our room was on the 3rd floor main road side and we could hear conversations outside and music from cars. Breakfast and wifi are also free. Overall, definitely worth to stay and I'd be back.

"Great location, spacious rooms & free breakfast"
funnypinkgal, 26 Mai 2016

The rooms are spacious and clean at a reasonable price. The staff are very professional and courteous. Best Western Sunset Suites is literally walking distance to Rivercenter Mall. Free breakfast. The only downside is parking which is $14/day.

"Wonderful staff, good value"
Keith E, 24 Mai 2016

I had the pleasure to stay here for 7 days after arriving in country from an overseas tour in the military. The staff (from the front desk, to general manager, to the cleaning lady) were consistently friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome and energetic from the moment I checked in. The front desk staff were very friendly and always polite. I always walked away from the front desk w a smile. The facilities were good, nothing spectacular, but clean and complete. $1.50 laundry, small gym, small convenience store, and daily breakfast (eggs, potatoes, yogurt, oatmeal, waffle maker, etc) made my stay easy. The mattress comfort was ok, a little stiff and cheap feeling, but I survived. The suite had a mini fridge, microwave, desk, coffee table, and a couple couches. I'd come back any time, and recommend it to anyone who is cost conscious but wants quality and a great value.

"Close to Convention Center and Free Breakfast!"
OrangeAustin, 19 Mai 2016

This was a delightful place to stay for a conference on the other side of the highway. I was concerned about walking back but the underpass is lit with LED lighting and there was plenty of traffic around. The location is in close proximity to the riverwalk and convention center making walking back to the hotel after a strong margarita very, very convenient! ;-) I would stay here again but know two things: Ask for a room on the opposite side from the busy street out front and second, parking is extra and costs $13/night.

"Big Room but would not recommend"
MLWill2, 17 Mai 2016

I stayed here for a safety conference in May, arrived at 2:30 and was told there was no one that could help us because they were in the middle of shift change and that they would not be able to check me in until 3 because all the rooms were dirty. Upon check in at 3:15 my room was large and nice but the walls are extremely thin and Ac extremely loud. For the price charged, stay elsewhere.

"Good place to stay"
iggylu2, 13 Mai 2016

When in the shuttle from the airport driving up the street to the hotel I was thinking "Gee, I feel sorry for whoever is staying here!". It looks like you are driving through an industrial part of town, a little shady. Surprise, it's MY hotel! Nice bright clean lobby, the front desk staff was very friendly, the room spacious and clean. I had requested a room NOT near the elevator, but of course got one right next to the elevator. I have to be honest, I never heard it nor the people getting on and off, so it was not an issue. I also requested a room on the parking lot side, as suggested from other reviewers. Well, we were on the street side and it is a busy corner. Commerce St. leads to downtown. The freeway off-ramp and on-ramp are right there, it was noisy, so if you are a light sleeper it will probably be a problem, but w/the fan or air conditioning on it didn't bother us. They had a good continental breakfast, there's a waffle maker, cold cereal that my roomie said was stale, milk, juice, toast/bagels/sweet rolls. They also had freshly cooked scrambled eggs, one day bacon, the next sausage, and fresh coffee. Very convenient to start the day. I chose the location because of the proximity to the convention center, and the reasonable price. It's a quick walk to the convention center, which was awesome, maybe 5-10 min. walk. About a 15-20 min. walk to the Riverwalk. Not really any places to eat close, unless you want to eat at Denny's across from the convention center. We had flyers put under the door twice for pizza places, looked up reviews for both and they had extremely bad reviews. Pretty sure they are doing that on the sly. There is a BBQ place over by the Alamo Center, and a bar if you go to the left when going out the door from the lobby on the street side. We didn't go to either place. They have a little shop in the lobby, w/snacks, drinks, ice cream, as well as toiletry items. We went walking every night to downtown and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe walking back to the hotel, so no worries there. We took a cab back to the airport, had them call for us and waited maybe 10-15 minutes. Over all, it was a pleasant place, and I would definitely recommend staying here.

"Nice hotel"
lcs942, 11 Mai 2016

The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. The staff are helpful and the breakfast is good. The location wasn't as central as I was expecting, it's about a fifteen-twenty minute walk to the river walk. Apart from that the hotel has good facilities and it's easy to get to from the airport.

"A non stay stay"
Michael A, 11 Mai 2016

I didn't even stay at this hotel at all. I had booked a reservation checking in April 28th and checking out April 29th. Due to the weather outbreak I had to cancel the trip. The policy stated I had to cancel 24 hours in advance (by 4pm the preceding day) which I did. Sure enough, several days later my credit card statement billed me as a no show directly from the hotel (I had booked through concur but the charge was directly with Best Western). I got bounced around, nobody called me back. The front desk manager on duty at 5/11/2016 flat out refused to give me my money back on the grounds it was a deposit required reservation which it was not- should would not listen...I got a bit loud and told her I would never stay at Best Western again. Now I have go through my bank- Major pain, more time on hold.. Because of this experience and poor customer service I refuse to stay at a Best Western ever gain.

"Great stay, optimal location!"
Joshua P, 10 Mai 2016

From the outside the hotel does not look like anything extraordinary. However, the inside is nothing short of wonderful. Great rooms, comfortable beds, clean, good service, and fantastic hot continental breakfast. 5 minute walk from the Riverwalk and 10 minute walk from the Alamo. You should stay here...

"Clean, professional and close to Riverwalk!"
Elizabeth R, 09 Mai 2016

This Best Western is clean, professionally staffed, and 3 blocks from the Riverwalk! Hot breakfast was excellent! Convenience store inside and very nice quality restaurant on the corner. Highly recommended!

"Great Location"
Tracey C, 09 Mai 2016

Hotel staff is friendly and the building is historic yet clean and tastefully decorated. The proximity to the River Walk and other in-town amenities is excellent. Street noise is my only complaint, but with a street-level room close to bars and other hotels it is understandable.

"Good location, good amenities, noisy street."
lyrix428, 07 Mai 2016

I tagged along on a trip to San Antonio with a friend who was attending a conference. She chose this hotel based on reviews here and its proximity to the convention center and the riverwalk. The hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly and efficient, and free breakfast is provided. They also have a little shop with water, snacks, sodas, ice cream, etc. This came in handy. The room we had was very spacious. (I don't know if all the rooms have a similar layout.) We had a king size bed as well as a fold out sofa. The room also included ample closet space, a large flat screen TV, mini-fridge and microwave, coffee maker, and a hair dryer. It had a living space that included the couch, a chair and desk. The bed was comfortable, the water in the shower was consistently hot, the air conditioner worked great, thankfully, as it was hot. The wifi was a bit slow at times but at least it was free. The location of the hotel is very good. A five minute walk will get you to the Rivercenter Mall or the convention center. Another 2 - 3 minutes will get you to the heart of the riverwalk or to the Alamo. My only complaint would be the noise from the street. When my friend made the reservation, she requested a room not on the street side based on reviews she had read. So of course we got one ON the street side. And Saturday night while we were there, the Spurs had just won their first game against Oklahoma. So we were treated to the sound of car horns honking in celebration for hours. But even without the extra celebratory noise, traffic noise was easily heard in the room. So definitely request, and possibly insist, on a room away from Commerce Street. One more tip: while we were there, two pizza joints had slid menus under our door. One night after a long day of walking around, we were tired and discussed ordering a pizza from one of them. A quick search here of reviews indicated that the food was horrible, and in some cases, the place almost sounded like a scam (credit card info given but no food ever arrived). Obviously we opted not to order from either of them. Definitely do your homework on anything like that that you receive.

"Nice Hotel"
John H, 07 Mai 2016

Very comfortable stay close to convention center, easily walkable. Also close to downtown attractions. Walking distance. Room was quiet and clean. Enjoyed my stay. Would stay again. Thank you for everything.

"great location"
Alan F, 06 Mai 2016

Great location, great food. Staff was excellent. Hotel shows its age, but very quaint. 2 blocks from the riverwalk. Great food down the street to the west. Smoke. Central to everywhere. I would stay here again

"Newly Remodeled - Nice Location"
Purdue_Paul, 06 Mai 2016

The hotel is about 1/3 of a mile form the riverwalk, convention center, and the River Mall. It's located in an area of Commerce St where there had been expansion some years ago. There had been several restaurants nearby but only Smokes seemed open while I was there. The hotel has been newly remodeled with a Southwest Mission style theme. It was nice to stay at a hotel that was not of the national 'cookie cutter' variety. One of the comments I read mentioned noise. One side of the building faces the main highway. The other is quieter, that is the side I was on. I had no sound complaints. Breakfast was a standard 'free' breakfast. .

"Older building"
jackocalgary_AB, 03 Mai 2016

Close to River Walk with quick access to a highway. Spacious rooms; mine had a king bed, couch, flat screen tv, microwave, fridge. The desk staff were pleasant. The breakfast was typical "free" breakfast fare with scrambled real eggs, sausage and biscuits & gravy. Rooms were a bit noisy between freeways and trains. Great choice if a short visit and River Walk/shopping are on your agenda.

"Visit to San Antonio"
Henry G, 03 Mai 2016

The Best Western River Walk is one of the most beautiful decorated Hotels we have seen in the Best Western chain. It feels like you are visiting a friend's house. The bed was very comfortable and the room was of very good size. All the staff was friendly and professional. The breakfast buffet was good but when you came closer to the end of the buffet, it seemed the staff was not to eager to replenish the food. The Location is good but not as close as we thought to the River Walk. All in all great place and would stay there again.

"One of my favorite BW's!"
W9535UMlisah, 02 Mai 2016

The hotel is in an older building in downtown San Antonio, and BW has done a great job of keeping it looking nice. About a 10-15 minute walk to the shops, Alamo, and Riverwalk. This hotel has a little convenience store and an ATM in the lobby. I've stayed here a couple of times and would definitely recommend it for the location and amenities.

"Would be my first choice if i came back to San Antonio"
Lauren W, 29 Avril 2016

Stayed here whilst visiting from the UK last week. Service was exceptional - staff were incredibly friendly and always said hello especially the two girls who checked us in when we arrived (Monday 18th), they were very welcoming and answered questions we had on other days. The whole hotel staff in general were brilliant: a great team. The Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Air Con was a god-send in the heat. Would definitely recommend here if staying in San Antonio. It's right down the street from the Alamodome & Amtrak station and a 10 minute (if that) walk to the riverwalk - very handy for all the fiesta activities last week ;) and for sightseeing. Also, it's right off the i-37 so takes barely any time to get to and from the airport.

"Basketball Tournament"
franklins, 25 Avril 2016

We stayed here four nights for an event at the AlamoDome. The location was perfect. The hotel was great. Loved the rooms. Breakfast was very good. Staff outstanding. Parking is limited so if possible get there early enough to get a spot. There's a charge for parking. We plan to stay here again next year for the State Tournament.

"VIVA FIESTA"
William W, 25 Avril 2016

my wife and I have been coming to fiesta for 2o years, We have been staying at this Best Western almost every year. The rooms are always clean the Staff is always friendly and the Food is always good. The bus stop is very close. And you are within walking distant from the Alamo maybe 6 blocks.we have been very pleased with the service here.

"Walking distance from Riverwalk."
madwmn1, 23 Avril 2016

It was nice walking about 3 blocks to the Riverwalk, room was very spacious and clean. The only problem I had was the smoke alarm started tweeting at 1:00 am. Told the front desk the next morning and it was fixed that day !!!! Breakfast was great hot , cooked there in the kitchen, and workers were very clean and friendly. Would recommend this place. Price as good also.

Madelyne D, 20 Avril 2016

This is about 3 blocks from the river walk. People were very friendly and helpful. Was clean and rooms were very large, you need to watch the foot board on the bed however, we ran into it a few times before we learned. Breakfast was really good and home made very nice workers also !!!

"my son's wedding"
Eva Marie O, 19 Avril 2016

This was or first time in San Antonio, and we were here for my son's wedding. I was pleasantly surprised when we first arrived the staff at the front desk was welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was clean, and nice. The bed could have been a bit less hard but overall the experience was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that wants a nice hotel at a great price point.

"Good place to stay, reasonable"
Paula D, 16 Avril 2016

I was surprised. I needed a place to stay for a couple of nights at a reasonable price. This hotel was not in the ideal location for me but, when I got inside it was spotless, nicely appointed, the room was very large and very clean. The personnel were very friendly and accomodating. The breakfast had good variety and was good. The location was not within walking distance of the riverwalk, for me since I am elderly. Just across the highway from the Alamodome. But overall a very pleasant stay. I would certainly recommend it.

"A true "BW PLUS""
OttawaToys, 16 Avril 2016

An excellent hotel in walking distance to the Convention Centre, Tower of the Americas, The Alamo, and The Riverwalk with its many restaurants, museums and attractions. You couldn't ask for more pleasant staff; a lovely room, good breakfast.

"did get refund"
dw980111, 15 Avril 2016

The manager did contact me, and provided a refund for the parking. The manager handled the refund very professionally, and I appreciated that. I realize errors get made, and it is how staff handles the errors, that make customer service pleasant or not.

"One of THE best BW I have stayed"
Alexunder L, 12 Avril 2016

I love BW chain and usually trying to find one in town I am staying at, some of my most favorite ones are in Napa and Santa Fe. Well, add one more to the list :) First time in San Antonio and decided to stay in BW again - made great choice again (and not just bcs of price). Nice location just 3 blocks from the River Walk and close to freeway. Room with touch of Texas but nice clean comfortable and even cozy. Breakfast is the better that some BW Premier, I love it. Stayed just one night but next time I'm in San Antonio - I am staying here again for sure! You'll like this hotel for super nice staff(extremely friendly), big nice rooms and really good breakfast. Cheers, Sasha

"Riverwalk and work made better by stay there"
Michael P, 10 Avril 2016

Had a demanding week long conference walking distance from this Best Western Plus facility and returning each evening to the motel was a comfort after a full day. Staff was great always friendly always attentive. Breakfast was tasty and filling

"Nice Breakfast and cozy room"
Hyunjung C, 08 Avril 2016

I was a bit worried about the location at first but the location is okay. Just nice short walk to River Walk area. The lobby looks much nicer than their pictures. The breakfast area is big and bright. Decent breakfast. No problem with hot water. Internet speed is fast at night but a bit slow during the day. I liked the water pressure. Coffee machine in my room seems to be replaced but still working. (It was not a problem because coffee is available in the lobby area.) It is not very quiet because the hotel is adjacent to I-37. Parking is 12.99 per day plus tax. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay.

"Great Location"
Jim d, 07 Avril 2016

For those wanting to be close to the famous River Walk and yet out of the hustle and bustle this is the place to be. A short two block walk to the River Walk makes this property an excellent place to stay for a short one or two night stay in San Antonio. This is not a big property but has all the basic needs. Arrive early so you obtain the relatively few parking spots on site. (I don't know what they do if the spots are taken.) The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Ask for a room opposite the main street. Staff were very pleasant and the breakfast buffet was very generous. I would return.

"Nice place to stay"
Joseph M, 07 Avril 2016

Although it's not right on the Riverwalk it's only a short walk. Hotel was nice and clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast was very good and the ladies taking care of it did a great job keeping things filled and hot.. Beds very comfy. Room cleaning staff did a very nice job. Would definitely stay here again.

"Good Hotel and Location"
Alan M, 06 Avril 2016

This is a good hotel, ideal if heading into the conference center close by. Also just a walk from the city center and River walk, where there are plenty of restaurants. You can easily get on to and exit the highway to all directions. Accommodation is very good, beds, linen, great, bathroom very clean, and nice soft towels as well.

"Ideal location"
andy h h, 04 Avril 2016

This hotel is lovely clean and comfortable. The staff helpful and friendly, location good for all the attractions. Lovely breakfast. I would recommend this hotel and San Antonio we loved it. Rooms clean and decorated lovely.

"Poor Parking and Breakfast Space, and Remote"
Leticia M, 04 Avril 2016

Upon arrival they handed me a paper to sign for an additional $12.95; what is wrong is that they have very little parking and made us wait to be taken to another location to park and be picked up by a van. Your front desk receptionist kept talking to herself and and answering herself while counting money instead of checking us in. We reported remote and they said they could nt fix it; she could have moved us to a room with a working remote, but did not. Breakfast was a mess they had too many people and did not open up meeting room until it was almost over. They kept running out of food because of number of people.

"One night passing thru town..."
JNPetrusek, 02 Avril 2016

A Nice Hotel with Beautifully decorated and very clean rooms. Great Breakfast! Terrific Staff!! Can't wait to come back again for a longer stay! The location in downtown at the Riverwalk is Excellent!!

"The Best Place"
MARI G, 01 Avril 2016

I looked on line over & over looking for the best deal, the best place to be at near the Riverwalk. I found it at Best Western, Sunset Suites. It was near the Riverwalk but away from all the noise. The room was perfect in every way. Won't stay anywhere else if I'm going to San Antonio.

"Excellent"
Stephen P, 01 Avril 2016

Our first visit to Texas and San Antonio. The hotel was brilliant. Lovely big room, clean, friendly and helpful staff. We arrived early and so had no problem parking at the hotel. We then didn't use the car again for 3 days. Downtown and the River walk are a very easy 10 minute walk from the hotel. Excellent stay. Thank you

"Brilliant "
ashleighnicolem, 28 Mars 2016

We only stayed for one night but I wish we could have stayed longer! We arrived off the train from California (32 hour train journey) at 5 in the morning. We were knackered! We had requested early check in (and informed them that it was our honeymoon) but we still expected not to be able to check in until around lunch time. When the receptionist saw is, she immediately told us that as soon as the maid arrived, she would request they clean the first available room just so we could rest until our room was ready, and that we could sit in the dining area and help ourselves to food. About an hour later, she came to us and said there was a room available for us to actually check in right away that had just been cleaned. It was better than the room we expected, more like a suite. It was really clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable and huge!

"Travel "
Rob W, 27 Mars 2016

Got the train in from LA and the hotel is ideally located. 5 min walk from the station and also local attractions. Shame we're only here one night. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and the staff are very helpful. I never give the full 5 when reviewing but they deserve it.

"Perfect For Our Stay"
Sandra P, 25 Mars 2016

Was skeptical because of the mixed bag of reviews on this place. First the Pros: This place is in an excellent location. We walked to our Expo at the convention center each day, avoiding the high priced parking (and lack there of) around the convention center. It is just a short 5 min walk...maybe two blocks at the most. We also walked to most restaurants and other events we were attending on the river walk and elsewhere. Close by are a Denny's, IHOP, Smokeshop BBQ, and a Spaghetti Warehouse. This facility is clean, well maintained for the most part, with large rooms, great breakfast, and a friendly staff. The rooms are clean, well equipped for work and include a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The bath has a great shower, is clean, and great towels. Our suite was 104 and it worked perfectly for the two of us. Enjoyed the space. Cons: Parking. The adjacent lot is small maybe 20-25 cars if that, if full, you have to park down the street a little ways. We were fortunate to get a parking spot the night we arrived and rather than give it up, walked everywhere, or took UBER the one place we need to drive to. The other con, is that on the front side of the building, you are right on the street. Corner of 37 and Commerce, major intersection with freeway. While we were not bothered by street noise as much as "people upstairs" noise, it could be a problem. Request a room on the back side if you are a light sleeper. Like so many places, this facility has gone to the energy efficient light bulbs. They make the room seem dark, at least until they come on to full power. we had every light on but still felt the room was dark. I run into this all over though and have just adjusted to it. Pack your own bulbs if you prefer grater than a 60watt light! All in all, because of the location, breakfast ( which is above what you usually find on the included buffet), room size (great if you want to have associates in for a drink, couch and chairs in sitting area) and price, this is a fantastic place to stay near but off the river walk.

"Great Location for Convention Center and Highway Access"
BHEBfoodie, 24 Mars 2016

Arrived after 10.00pm, first room assigned had not been made up, so switched to another room, but on ground floor, next to elevator and ice machine. However, there was limited nose this night. However as the dawn rose, so did the traffic noise outside the room, just 10 or 12 ft., from window and traffic lights which was not good if you want a lie in. Luckily I didn't. Room was large, very clean, bed was very comfortable, towels were soft, bathroom was likewise good and clean. Breakfast area well stocked, although the Danish pastry was anything but fresh, but there was plenty to choose from. Coffee was tasy and hot. Parking has to be paid for, which I don't particularly like, however it's what most hotels in San Antonio appear to do in the town center so I am told. It's a small issue but paid dividends as I didn't have to move vehicle whilst attending the convention center, so a perfect fit for me. All told, definitely a good hotel, good location, plus the desk staff were very efficient and so helpful. Will be back again sometime.

"Nice room, convenient location"
78judyh, 23 Mars 2016

Room was a nice size with sofa and sitting area. Clean. Breakfast was excellent. Were unable to keep noisy air conditioner on at night. Close enough to Riverwalk to be able to leave car in parking lot.

"Cleaning not completed"
Sean B, 23 Mars 2016

The hotel overall was good, but the bathroom had hair on the floor in several places on arrival. We informed front desk and they sent someone to clean it while we were out, but unfortunately they did not manage to clean all the hair from the floor. We didn't report this again to the front desk as we felt that they should only need to be informed of problems once, and we wanted to go to bed by that point rather than have the hassle.

"Daycation"
Lamisha T, 22 Mars 2016

I only stayed one night but it was well worth it! The staff was very nice and the entire place was very clean! The room was comfortable and very inviting. There were places to eat in walking distance. I felt very safe and secure while I was there.

"Wonderful Staff"
Jacqueline S, 22 Mars 2016

Staff was wonderful. Breakfast was great. The parking was a little difficult. Overall we had a wonderful time. We'll definitely be booking a room at this hotel again the next time we're in the area. We were walking distance from the River Walk. The best part of our trip was the Spurs beat the Warriors!! I recommend this hotel to all of my family and friends.

"Good price + clean + safe"
LOLAONROADTRIP, 21 Mars 2016

Comfort and conveniently located for a great price. This hotel is really nice, small, cozy, with small gym, but great breakfast and location. The rooms are spacious, clean, and are well kept. You get free parking and free breakfast. The hotel is walking distance to the river walk mall. There is a bike station across the street, so you can rent a bike and ride to/from downtown. This place is not 5 star hotel, but it has all you need to enjoy a 2 or 3 night stay. No pool or jacuzzi, but it's a good hotel no doubt. You can do your laundry here, they have guest laundry room, vending machines, convenient store, computer room.

"Great Inexpensive Hotel Near the Riverwalk"
Kelly K, 21 Mars 2016

Lovely, clean, friendly staff. I could not ask for more at this price point in this location. I very much enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. I was traveling for Business but would bring my other half here to stay for a getaway weekend.

"Room was enjoyable"
Donna H, 21 Mars 2016

I enjoyed my stay for the most part. The description offered everything that was listed. Thought parking was going to be a problem, however they had an over flow parking which was kind of costly if you come in more than one car. Parking for First car was 12.99/night and 25.00 per night for extra car.

"Family Trip to San Antonio for SeaWorld"
Tonya J, 19 Mars 2016

All staff members in which I came into contact with were fantastic. However, the lady who checked me in was WONDERFUL and FRIENDLY (I apologize for forgetting her name). She welcomed me by sight and my "nickname" which made me feel a strong sense of warmth and an open invitation to BW. She went out of her way to personalize my visit. And, Osbry, the manager, was very nice and open. The only not-so-good thing about my stay was the lack on on-site parking, but shuttle transportation to my car and back was available and accommodating. I will return for future needs. Thank you, Tonya Johnson aka Giggles :-)

"riverwalk stay"
Samuel M, 16 Mars 2016

Good hotel. Not a lot of complaints. Only issue is parking is minimal. Great location to Riverwalk. Breakfast is good, get there early for it as some like to eat up everything. Those munchers. Guy that drives you to parking lot is cool. Lady at front was cool. Stairway smelled musty but what stairway doesn't?

"State Basketball Tournament"
Iteach3rd, 12 Mars 2016

Very clean and friendly. We were able to walk to the Alamo Dome and to the River Walk. Not a lot of parking, but they accommodated us with an overflow parking. Breakfast was superb!! The rooms all had a microwave, refrigerator and a coffee maker, free wifi, a work desk and plenty of storage. It was an old building that had been restored. They had a picture in the lobby of what it once looked like. It is very tastefully decorated, and I love the fact that history was preserved!!

"Best value & comfort"
rodriguezjesser65, 10 Mars 2016

The room's are very comfortable & clean makes you feel right at home. Staff is very polite & helpful the indoor pool is huge & the Jacuzzi in the room is so relaxing, nice big led television with lots of channels to view.

"Best Western stay in San Antonio Texas"
Paul S, 10 Mars 2016

Recently I stayed at the Best Western PLUS Suites-River Walk in San Antonio Texas. The location of this hotel is convenient when visiting San Antonio. It is not located in the River Walk area, but the location is not very far from the River Walk and points of interest . The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the morning breakfast was very good. The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. My stay at this hotel was enjoyable. Due to the close proximity to IH-37, the rooms were a little bit noisy.

"Close to Amtrak"
Michael T, 10 Mars 2016

This was a very nice hotel. Good proximity to the Amtrak station. The exterior of the building was misleading, it was a very nice interior. The breakfast was very good. The rooms were a good value. The parking fee was a surprise.

"A Major Ripoff-Do Not Stay There!!"
Nicki C, 29 Février 2016

I used an online travel site to book a reservation. When I arrived, I was told that I had booked two reservations and was responsible for two rooms. I showed them my reservation, which was for one room, and even had the online site tell them it had been a mistake on their part. The management made me pay for the other room even though I had not made the reservation. No discussion on my part seemed to be able to sway them. I am taking this up with the better business bureau, but do not stay there!

"Lovely hotel"
Theark73, 27 Février 2016

The hotel was very good. It is in an excellent location, walking distance to the centre. The staff were friendly, although very frugal with coffee in the room, I had to keep asking for some more. The rooms were cleaned well and very large. The car parking is ok if you get their early enough. However, it was disappoiting they charge extra for parking your car.

"Charming Hotel"
Amberly K S, 23 Février 2016

Love the whole vibe of this hotel. Staff and breakfast were great. The hot water did not stay hot for very long before it became cold but after a few minutes it was hot again. Beds were really hard. The location made up for these two things. It was maybe a third of a mile away from the convention center. Can't beat that and again I have to point out how great the staff, breakfast, and whole vibe of the hotel made up for the other things.

"short"
Michael S, 18 Février 2016

late check in, early check out...select a room on the inside, away opposite Commerce. Stayed at the hotel a week later on Commerce and could not fall asleep. Perhaps rooms above level 1 would have be quitter. Night clerk did work with me, but could not provide a receipt at check out for catching the Amtrak at 0245...had not posted for the evening....

"Great Place!"
Krystal R, 18 Février 2016

Everything was extremely well taken care of except for the overflow parking place. It was very close to everything in downtown San Antonio. You can easily walk to the mall and the Alamo. It is also diagonal from the Convention Center; great place to stay if you are going to a conference there.

"Hidden Jewel"
Garry K, 17 Février 2016

Wonderful older, clean, friendly, place to stay. Good breakfast for the money! FREE Now 2nd closest to convention center. Very SAFE! Offsite parking not close but they will shuttle you to your vehicle.

"Good location, Good price"
Bookworms2010, 16 Février 2016

We stayed at this best Western and were pleased to find that it was only a couple of blocks form the Riverwalk. it is smaller than many of their properties but it was shiny clean and warm. The staff was welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was free and had some variety, and the prices were modest compared to most locations that close to the Riverwalk.

"Good service but horrible beds!"
fiftee7chevy, 14 Février 2016

My wife and I like to stay at Best Western Hotels because of the quality of services and accommodations we have always received. The services and amenities at Best Western PLUS Sunset Suites-Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas has friendly, professional staff and several nice amenities, including a very tasty breakfast meal. However, the mattress on the bed in our room was as hard as a rock. Neither my wife nor I rested well at all the two nights we stayed there. I recommend checking with hotel staff to discuss the mattress options available before booking a reservation there.

"Friendly staff and great value"
gregc998, 13 Février 2016

The staff at the hotel if very helpful and friendly. When you consider the rate includes a free full breakfast and parking isn't as expensive as the other hotels near the Riverwalk, this hotel is a great value.

"Nice hotel close (but not on) the River walk"
Randy B, 12 Février 2016

Very nice and comfortable room. The only complaint I has was very limited parking. I was afraid to leave for fear I would have to park down the street when I returned. Great place if you plan on walking to the River walk or convention center

"No sleep night"
John N, 12 Février 2016

I could hear the person sleeping next door snoring all night. the ac unit made my alergies act up all night. The cleaning crew was cleaning the room next to me at 8:30 am. If some one used the toilet close by the plumbing could be heard in the room. This is a charming place if you can be there by yourself no other customers.

"Great price , Great staff ... Great stay"
Logan P, 11 Février 2016

At time of booking I was a little worried that on the map if appeared off the river walk and thus a little walk to the action. My fears disappeared as once there it was a mere 5 minute stroll to EVERYTHING. Super price considering it was so close to everything. The staff were fantastic and some of that famous Texan friendliness especially Brenda who went above and beyond to help us Aussies.. The room was spacious with great modern facilities, free wifi and a microwave and fridge were very useful! Nice and quiet with a comfy bed .... What more could you want... Rather than pay a premium price to stay on the riverwalk. I would stay here again and save money to spend at the abundance of shops on the river!

"Great economy hotel"
Todd Erick A, 10 Février 2016

Pros: Great ambiance and decor from the lobby to the guest room. Walking distance to Riverwalk and The Alamo. 10 minutes from Fort Sam Houston. Hearty hot breakfast with lots of choices and great coffee available all day. Cons: No pool or hot tub. Additional daily parking fee

"Great hotel and location to Alamodome"
melissamE1202XN, 09 Février 2016

This hotel was a great choice for our daughter's cheer competition at the Alamo Dome. We had a lot of friends stay closer to the river walk and they paid a ton in parking fees at their hotel and at the Alamo dome. We walked to the Alamo dome (maybe 10 min) and we walked to the riverwalk and the Alamo (maybe 12-15 min) and we never used our car once! It was a safe area and great price!! Couldn't have been happier! Plus our room was HUGE!!! Also the staff was great and the breakfast was awesome! We made waffles every day and they had bagels, cereal. bisquits, sausage gravy, sausage, eggs, fruit, yogurt, juices! tons of choices!!! We will def. stay here again!!!

"Great Hotel and great location to the Alamodome"
Melissa C, 08 Février 2016

We stayed here for a cheer competition that was at the Alamodome! A lot of the team stayed on the riverwalk and spent so much money on parking and cabs/uber and we just walked everyday to and from the Alamodome and even to and from the riverwalk and never had to pay for parking or cabs! We saved a ton, not to mention saving on the hotel costs! Great choice by far! Also the breakfast was great!!!!

"Great Hotel"
Kim J, 08 Février 2016

This hotel is great. It is very conveniently located to the Alamodome and the River Walk - both are within walking distance. It is very clean, rooms are spacious, has a good breakfast and all for a reasonable rate.

"Great Value"
Mark D, 02 Février 2016

For the price is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. If you are looking for a lot of amenities this may not be the hotel for you. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was simple but very good. The staff was friendly and the place clean.

"Hotel just like the Texas folk....friendly and welcoming."
dobby48, 01 Février 2016

Very impressed when I arrived at the hotel. The lobby was beautiful, with stained glass and polished wood. The receptionist, Brenda, was also lovely. All the staff I met during my stay were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was extremely large and well furnished. The only downside was noise from the busy road, but luckily I had some earplugs.

"Birthday trip"
david l, 27 Janvier 2016

My son and I travelled to San Antonio for our respective birthdays. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were upgraded to a King Suite room. The woman behind the desk then guided us to an excellent Mexican restaurant in Market Square. EVERYONE working there was very friendly and helpful with all our questions about San Antonio. The breakfast was great and my son and I had a special trip because of the personal care the staff at the hotel took.

"Really Pleasantly Surprised. I will stay here next time as well."
TheLostShopper, 26 Janvier 2016

After spending over $ 200 a night on my last several trips to stay on the Riverwalk I wanted to save some $$. After doing some research, I decided I could do without a swimming pool or spa and chose to stay here. I received much more than I expected for what I paid. The room was bigger and the bed was as good, My room had a blow dryer, mini fridge, microwave, wet bar, ironing board and iron, desk and chair, couch, big LED TV, and FREE WiFi. The A/C worked great and was quiet. The front desk gave me a tooth brush (for free) when I asked why there wasn't any in the little store (next to the front desk). I used the safety box at the front desk for my medications (for free). I used the computer in the business center to check and print off my email (for free). And I enjoyed a really nice breakfast at the free breakfast bar. I would have had to have paid for this at the expensive hotels. I couldn't hear the freeway but I did hear a bus or other large truck several mornings as I was on the south (busy street) side. Helpful Hint - Next time I'll try to stay on the North (quiet) side. There are only 64 rooms ( all suites) in this Hotel so it is full most every night. And the rooms look just as they do in the pictures. really nice. I didn't see any bugs or bad housekeeping. The walk to the convention center was 4 blocks and it is actually 3 to the Rivercenter Mall where you can go down to the Riverwalk. The I-35 overpass you walk under is well lit at night and the colored lights even put on a light show. You can park on the street for free a block away but the $ 12.95 each night was worth it to me to put it in the hotel lot for safe keeping.. It is more than double than that on the other side of the freeway.

"Great place to stay"
95tarar, 25 Janvier 2016

This hotel was affordable and was close to the Henry B Gonzalez convention center which is where we needed to go - definitely in walking distance. Great staff! We would stay here again. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was sufficient.

"Price & Location - Where it's at!"
atown66, 25 Janvier 2016

I travel to San Antonio for business, unfortunately it's not for Margaritas on the Riverwalk. BW Sunset is always where I stay - its a short walk (5min) from the Alamo Dome, good hot breakfast and the rooms are spacious - all for a great price! Staff is friendly and helpful. Only downfalls are the parking lot is small and there aren't many restaurants unless you go across the highway to the Riverwalk.

"10 minute walk to River Walk"
GreenerHills, 25 Janvier 2016

This hotel has great room space and is walking distance to the River Walk straight down E Commerce St. The breakfast buffet is a bit better than the typical fare and there is decent room for seating. The front desk service was always polite and helpful. I found the traffic in the area to be a bit noisy at night so I left the A/C unit on for white noise. This is not a deal breaker but I found the night service was under staffed when a back log occurred and I was trying to buy something from their convenience store. Also you the parking lot is small and there is an overflow lot you must use because street parking is not available. Parking at the B/W is $13/day, so it's nice that you can walk to the River Walk.

"Parking was terrible and management subpar"
Arthur M, 25 Janvier 2016

The first night I arrived at this particular hotel was a very difficult one. Parking was a major issue, I figured since there was a parking fee , I thought there would be parking and there wasn't so I wasn't sure why I would have been charged for it. I tried asking the lady at the desk and the kept giving me the run around and not really answering my questions. I was told to wait for parking after an 5 hr drive, for the lady at the desk to leave so that I could take her spot, but she did not inform me that it was going to be another 45 min before she was ready to leave. Then her manager showed up and she couldn't really tell me what was going on and to make matters worse HER boss showed up, I think she told me that he was the general manager and he didn't even look me in the eyes or even talk to me. I hope to never stay in another Best Western again, I travel alot and I have never been treated this way.

"Location, location, location"
Diane S, 19 Janvier 2016

Once a year I have business in San Antonio that doesn't involve the River Walk, but rather the Alamo Dome. I always choose to stay at the Best Western Sunset for value, hot breakfast (free), 5 minute walk to Alamo Dome and big rooms. The only downfall is no restaurants within site of the hotel - you have to walk under the highway to the River Walk. But who doesn't want a Margarita in San Antonio, so I guess its worth the walk.

"Unhappy customer"
Nicolas K, 18 Janvier 2016

Water leak in the bathroom Ants in the Bedroom Stray dogs running around the parking lot. The hotel waived our parking fees but I feel like they could of done more to accommodate us for all the head heck we experienced during our stay. One good thing the had going was their breakfast, the staff were really nice and kept everything fresh.

"Well located and helpful staff"
Reagan S, 18 Janvier 2016

Very helpful personal & smiling. You will be located at 2mn of convention center, 6mn by foot to the riverwalk (safe event at night). Closed also to ATT center by car (5mn). Clean room, but there is no general light at the roof, so my room was a little bit dark. The higway is closed, so you can hear the noise of the traffic. Low bandwith Internet access < 1.3Mps.

"Traffic noise made it impossible to sleep after 5 AM"
austintxmomof3, 14 Janvier 2016

My daughter & I stayed here for one night after her UIL State Marching competition. Great location for events at the Alamodome - walked back to the hotel after midnight and did not feel scared. Unfortunately, traffic was so loud that I was unable to sleep after 5 AM even though I had the bathroom fan running, brought a fan from home & was running a white noise program on my phone:( Maybe this would not have bothered me as much if we had been able to go to bed earlier, but my whole reason for getting a room was not to drive back to Austin sleepy and I ended up having to drive on 2 hours of sleep. I am a Best Western Rewards member and had requested "Facing parking lot, quiet location, top floor please. Thank you!" and was disappointed my request was not honored.

"Gem in San Antonio"
Trustee67, 08 Janvier 2016

Everything better than advertised. Terrific staff. Excellent location. Very good value for the money. WE always seek out Best Westerns because they seem to be reliable and reasonably priced. This one near the Riverwalk met that standard in every way. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The included breakfast had good variety and everything was fresh and well-presented.

"Great stay!"
Ruby J, 06 Janvier 2016

This is a wonderful, inexpensive hotel located within walking distance of the Alamo, River Walk and a shopping centre. The rooms are large, semi old with a cabin in the woods feel about them. Clean bed, high pressure shower, a desk, couch and chair. It was so cosy and warm, perfect! The staff were so lovely and helpful. Free breakfast was superb. We had a wonderful time staying at this hotel, I definitely recommend.

"newly wed"
Hiiakaikapoliop V, 04 Janvier 2016

we had just gotten married the staff was aware. So when we walked in and asked our names they were very energetic about our marriage. Made us smile so much. Overall from the beginning to end the staff was lovely and there when we needed!

"Very nice hotel, good location for Alamodome"
Kenneth P, 04 Janvier 2016

We stayed at this hotel one night for an event at the Alamodome. The location was excellent for this! The front desk staff was very friendly and pleasant. We had a king bed suite. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Breakfast offerings were good - I loved the Texas shaped golden malted waffles! Overall, the hotel was very nice, and I would definitely stay at this Best Western again.

"Good, but not great."
arrobles, 04 Janvier 2016

Stayed here for new years. Clean, comfortable and excellent location. Overall a good experience. HOWEVER, the kitchen staff is rude and unhelpful and the hotel seems to be unable to quiet down any noisy neighbors you might have... The room next to ours had a full DISCO, with high power speakers, strobe lights, disco ball... and guests that came in and out at 1:30 in the morning, yelling, screaming and swearing... we notified the hotel staff and they took almost an hour to finally make them lower their volume... and the next night we had the SAME PROBLEM!!! So, beware... while the hotel was not direclty responsible for the noise, they are responsible for the comfort of ALL GUESTS...

"Great Hotel in San Antonio"
Oscar C, 04 Janvier 2016

Great hotel, wonderful hot breakfast, walking distance from Alamo and River Walk. Lighting in bedrooms is not great, too dark, and bed was not very comfortable, I think they need new mattresses. Very good value for the money.

"Good Value"
Julie G, 04 Janvier 2016

A good value hotel located just two blocks away from the River Walk. The staff are friendly but we found our room ensuite bathroom was a little worm but clean. the taps moved and were worn off. However it was clean and quite comfortable. We had a king bed, microwave, small fridge and internet access.

"Nice stay"
Mack G, 31 Décembre 2015

Well maintained facility and very helpful staff. Depending on your age, It's a bit of a hike to the riverwalk and restaurants. Very convenient for overnight travelers. Breakfast selection was good - hot food was hot. Attendant stayed on top of cleaning tables and keeping food stocked.

"great hotel near the riverwalk"
Dhyink, 26 Décembre 2015

We like staying near the riverwalk, but don't like dealing with all the crazy one-way streets and high cost of hotel parking in downtown San Antonio. This hotel is easy walking distance to the riverwalk, has self parking (not free, but affordable), and has a microwave and fridge in the room. We really enjoyed our visit and plan to stay here on future trips.

"BUSINESS TRAVELER"
W C, 23 Décembre 2015

I like this hotel for business travel. I travel a lot and try to be budget conscious and this fits the bill. The staff is very friendly and courteous from top to bottom. The dining options are sparse if you need something within close walking distance, but if several blocks doesn't bother you then there are options. They have started charging for parking which you need to take into consideration for the location. West of 37 I anticipate that all the time, though.

"Overall good stay"
John M, 23 Décembre 2015

Overall my stay was good, the staff were excellent, but the hotel needs repairs. I would stay here again in the future, and recommend staying here but check your room for repairs before accepting the room. :)

"Great Customer service and a happy guest!"
Lucy W, 21 Décembre 2015

This hotel is known for it's hospitality and great service. Front desk is always very helpful. They are not Lazy like some of the hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are always fresh smelling and very well cleaned. The breakfast is always good and fresh. Not left over stuff lol!. The hotel is clean even the parking lot. The sales and catering Ms, Ana answers and returns my calls asap. Not days later like some hotels. Cory,Crystal,Marissa were awesome. I am sure I left someone out. The security guy is awesome as well. I always feel safe at this location. I could brag and brag.No one paid me to write this. This hotel is well worth your money. Just minutes to the board walk. Thank you,Lucy and Company.

"great hotel & location"
paulgX5110FQ, 21 Décembre 2015

Cory at the front desk made us fell very welcomed, hotel is a very short walk to the river walk five minutes we go to San Antonio twice yearly or more and we always stay here the breakfast needs a little work but livable we enjoyed our stay

"Great stay!"
JoyRidesTexas, 14 Décembre 2015

Clean, convenient location and friendly staff. The room was very comfortable and very clean. I would stay at this location again. We did not have the breakfast so I can't comment on that. The building is really cool looking in the lobby, very historic.

"Unfair Treatment"
Roberto E, 07 Décembre 2015

The front desk needs major help very unhappy with how I was treated and the team did not bother to make it right I would not stay here again due to the lack of customer service of wanting to make it right the beds need updating also

"Decent and close to Riverwalk"
IA_Hawks, 01 Décembre 2015

The hotel name is misleading as it is just over 1/4 mile to the start of the Riverwalk, but more like 1/2 mile to the start of the main part of the Riverwalk across Losoya St. There are parking ramps you can use, but the hotel is close enough that I would recommend walking. The building itself is a nice older repurposed building with nice decor, inviting lobby / sitting area and nice rooms. The parking lot is small and yes they do charge $14.02 / night for parking, (this is the total with tax) but that is a decent price for a downtown centric hotel. The block of Commerce St. looks nice but many of the building fronts were empty w/ for lease signs on them so other than a bar or two there isn't much going on. The Sunset Station area around the corner seems like it would be active and entertaining during the summer but there was nothing going on when I was here. The exercise facility on the second floor includes: a recumbent bike, treadmill, elliptical machine, and a 3 station weight stack for a few exercises so don't expect a full body workout.

"Great location for price"
Rhonda M, 01 Décembre 2015

Affordable hotel with close proximity to Riverwalk. Parking is easy and you don't have to valet your car. Staff was very friendly and the rooms are very spacious with refrigerator and microwave. Easy access to Hwy 281.

"poor customer service"
klassykeeler, 24 Novembre 2015

Billing is a mess, and still a mess. I checked in, the girl said, oh you forgot to initial here, I initial, bc I was already irritated with the length of time it took to check into the hotel, as I initialed, I read it, and it said $15/day for parking. I said I am not paying for parking, and I moved my vehicle. I go to check out, I was charged for parking. I went to the front desk, and said I did not park here. I was told they would refund the parking charges.... I am still waiting a week later for parking charges to be refunded. The rooms were clean, not comfortable, and very dark. The gym was ... terrible, why bother having one. the front desk say hello to everyone, but if you are trying to check in-get your bill sorted out, or a key recharged, the front desk staff, will talk to everyone but you. Hello Mr joe blow, how is miss joe blow, how is they room, what was miss joe blow think have the room, have you walked the river yet, what did you see where did you eat... blah blah... I took 15 mins to get me key recharged, bc they were talking to everyone else, who were trying to mind their own business, and get back to their room.

"Perfect, except for one thing..."
caricell, 20 Novembre 2015

Great staff, large clean rooms, great amenities, great location near Riverwalk and Alamo. Just be sure to request a room that doesn't face the highway, or you'll be hearing traffic noise all night and morning,

"They charge for parking."
Matthew K, 19 Novembre 2015

The quality of the hotel was very good for the price paid. The only hiccup was, at no time while making the reservation or while checking in, did I recall anyone mentioning to me that there would be a fee for parking. I stayed 1 night and when I went to check out I noticed a $13 parking fee for the evening. Not that big of a deal, just wish someone would have mentioned it. Also, this location is about a half mile from the actual Riverwalk towards a seedier part of town. If you plan on walking to the Riverwalk at night be prepared to encounter some vagrants etc...

"still the same of 3 y ago"
buinaba, 13 Novembre 2015

the location is very good - its not in the riverwalk, but its a 10min walking... very ease to go! The staff its ok, nothing special... the breakfast its decent, but nothing especial as well. The room was very dark! even on the day.... i think its intensionaly, so you cant see if its clean or not! The same complain I made years ago... the should improve that!

"A great hotel at a bargain price."
Englishsteve186437, 11 Novembre 2015

I was so pleased that we choose this hotel for our one week stay in San Antonio. The rooms was massive with two double beds. The maid service was first class so our room was spotless. The staff were really friendly most especially Brenda on reception and Jessica in the dining room. Both of these ladies went out of their way to make my fiancée and myself feel welcome. The breakfast was enjoyable with lots of options available. The Alamo and River walk were about ten to fifteen minutes walk away from the hotel.

"Historic hotel, close to attractions"
jmask58, 05 Novembre 2015

On the plus side, it is a very beautiful hotel. It has a historic feel and most of common areas were good (but they could have put better flooring instead of vinyl) We were in town for a pleasure / business trip and found this hotel to be not too far from our business destination and close enough to walk to the river walk (about 8-10 minutes). The room was adequate, not too fancy. For price comparison, just keep in mind that there is a parking charge that is not added to the confirmation, but added to the ticket. It is shown on their website, so I guess that falls into the "additional charges" category on the confirmation. The parking lot is small and does not hold all the cars. There's another parking lot at a slight walk. We didn't have a problem finding a spot at the hotel, but other guests weren't so lucky. And there is no pool. It's not show on their website so we just overlooked it because that's usually on our must-have list. So use judgement if that's an issue for you. When we found out about the pool, we tried swapping to another BW location, but that wasn't allowed... In all, we'd consider staying here again but would have eye's open to other possibilities with parking & pool.

"Great Stay with Smiling Staff!"
DianaPC97, 04 Novembre 2015

Great experience at this hotel! Every single staff person I encountered was helpful--let me check in an hour early even though they had a full house the night before, friendly--gave me good directions to the Alamodome, and had the most awesome and genuine smiles! The hotel itself was welcoming, clean, modern--every detail was taken care of. One small but important thing--the water pressure was extremely weak, and in the morning the hot water was barely warm. But that is the ONLY thing not perfect about this hotel. This is a great choice for a convenient location and a super stay.

"Great Stay But Check All Charges"
jpfvictoria, 04 Novembre 2015

This way a great stay in every way......except one. This is partially my fault by not checking my hotel receipt until I arrived home. In the middle of the taxes and fees was a parking charge of $12/day. I was never told of this parking charge at check in. Even on my reservation from BW, there was the room charge and the estimated charges at check out. The estimated charges were $12 less than the actual charges. Yes, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was good. My attitude toward this hotel was soured somewhat when I noticed the extra charge for parking....

"Card key problems"
Debbie R, 03 Novembre 2015

The card keys would not stay magnetized, had to return them several times. Most of the staff was helpful except for one (who happened to be Employee of the Month) who was condescending and rude when I had to return the card keys for the 5th time. Overall the hotel was nice, close to my event, convenient. If they can fix the card key issue (new card keys to hold the coding) it will be fine.

"Super helpful staff and great room!"
DebbieWB, 02 Novembre 2015

The staff at this Best Western are super friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, with all the amenities we could wish for. Location was good, just a short drive to our favorite restaurant. Breakfast was awesome! Fresh, hot, and awesome variety of choices. We left several items when we checked out and the staff went out of their way to secure our items and hold them at the front desk for pickup on our return trip a week later. Very good experience!

"Great Spot to Stay in San Antonio"
Pam T, 02 Novembre 2015

We were on a golfing trip in Texas & chose this hotel for access to Riverwalk. It was great, could walk to various locations & restaurants, site seeing, etc. Easy access to freeways for driving. The staff were very friendly.

"Our Stay @ the Best Western Plus Sunset Suites-Riverwalk"
Palmira P, 02 Novembre 2015

When I call to see if our room would be ready by 3pm, I was told that it was ready. We arrived and got out key and the rest of the day went great. We left a little before check out and just handed our key over as our room had already been paid.

"Was disappointed after reading awesome reviews"
Terry R, 02 Novembre 2015

I stayed at this particular hotel because it was close to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. I was disappointed at how many things were not in working order when I arrived, and that there was no accessible maintenance person - having checked in on a Sunday. When the elevator first reached my floor, the door didn't open. I waited and repeatedly pushed the <> button, and eventually the door did open, but that was a precursor of things to come. Inside my room, the TV didn't work. After returning from dinner, I also realized that my air conditioner didn't work either. When I went to the front desk to report these things (with my bags re-packed), the desk clerk asked another employer if he could take a look. I said that I wanted a different room, which was provided. I'm surprised that I have yet to hear from a manager regarding the issues during my stay. The reviews I read before going there were awesome, so I'm hoping mine was an isolated experience.

"It's all in the service....."
SeattleKellye, 01 Novembre 2015

I came to town for a 9-day conference, and wanted a place with a refrigerator and microwave that was reasonably priced. The Best Western met those qualifications. Let me first issue the disclaimer that, despite it's convenient location and amenities, this property's manager would do well to update the rooms, including to replace the beds with more comfortable mattresses. If you choose to use the air conditioning, please be warned that it is older and noisily goes off and on quite frequently. I opted to open the window, although be warned that the property is located near a freeway and train tracks. It quiets down at night and became easy to ignore. Nevertheless, those disadvantages are outweighed by the friendly, personal service provided by each and every employee at the hotel. Housekeeping kept the place very clean. The kitchen staff, who served a good hot breakfast each morning, kept all the food coming. The front desk staff, particularly Brenda and Cory, went the extra mile to provide exemplary customer service. I certainly hope that their manager appreciates and rewards Cory and Brenda, as their wonderful service is what made my stay very homelike, and will motivate me to return to the Best Western Plus Sunset-Suites Riverwalk and recommend this establishment to others.

"Nice Historic Hotel close to Amtrak Station"
153warreny, 27 Octobre 2015

A/C works well in room (but hallways seem not be A/C). Super early breakfast (6am start, used to 6:30am starts elsewhere). Close to the San Antonio Amtrak Station. A bit farther walk to the Riverwalk, but still manageable. Next to I-37/US281, but no freeway noise can be heard.

"Very satisfied customers"
Arthur L, 27 Octobre 2015

The Best Western Plus Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio was an extremely well run hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. There was always someone available to help with questions. The lobby area was well decorated and provided a relaxing comfortable atmosphere. The Breakfast room was clean with a good choice of nourishing food and a very efficient staff keeping the area well stocked and clean

"Outstanding customer service"
Evelyn S, 24 Octobre 2015

We arrived late after a long aggravating drive and were greeted with joyous enthusiasm by Brenda, the front desk clerk. She went way out of her way to extend our reservation, find us a restaurant, order a cab, all the while answering queries from other guests and dealing with other distractions. She is a huge asset to the chain and deserves a bonus! So nice to meet someone who loves her job and people! Atta girl, Brenda.

"Hotel Stay"
Kenneth M, 24 Octobre 2015

Hotel was in an older section of San Antonio. Due to the hogh volume of traffic adjacent to the hotel, It was somewhat difficult to walk to the Riverwalk from the hotel. I would recommend you provide transportation to the riverwalk area in the future. Internet access was really slow at times. I recommend you provide faster internet service.

"Poor before we even arrived"
MariaFolsom, 23 Octobre 2015

I begin by saying: I have NOT stayed at this hotel. I made reservations for two room for December. The reservations were made in July because San Antonio is popular and busy over the holidays. Now in October I am told that my reservations are cancelled due to renovations. Very bad policy. Any reputable business must honor existing obligations, short of some disaster.

"RATING"
Karla T, 21 Octobre 2015

Everything was great, the staff went out of there way, the room we had was nice and big with king bed, sofa, chair, refrig., microwave. Bed was very comfortable. We would stay here again. Location was a plus not heavy traffic area but located next to the interstate and downtown

"River Walk Inn"
Michael C, 17 Octobre 2015

This is a gem! Great historic property within easy walking distance of the River Walk in San Antonio. Staff is friendly, breakfast is great and the location is easy to access from the freeway. The Quarry golf course is 10 minutes away and is a must play! You will not be disappointed with this property.

"Best Best Western"
Josnie, 16 Octobre 2015

We have been on a road trip for over six weeks staying mostly in Best Western hotels because they are always clean and safe. This one however stands out because of the charming decor and how well the old and new parts of the building were integrated. The lobby was a delight to sit in. The rooms were furnished with oak accessories and lovely Tiffany style lamps. The nicest surprise was to find real plates and silverware at the breakfast buffet besides the nice assortment of food. We were able to easily walk to the Riverwalk and the Alamo. An excellent place to stay.

"Great Location! ??????"
Ginger B, 16 Octobre 2015

Fun place to stay. Stayed twice in 2014. Both times were great. Nice large room with comfy bed. Great breakfast each morning. Right on the bus line that will take you to the Riverwalk. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

"The good, the bad and ...."
Kevin A, 15 Octobre 2015

Great value, good service ... but there were just a few little things that kept this stay from being excellent. Specifically, (1) I had to use an overflow parking lot on the second night and it was a block away, (2) the room is very dark (almost everything is dark brown) so even when the lights were all on it felt dark., (3) Breakfast was .... meh. Just okay. On the bright side - our check-ion experience was exceptional. Thanks for Stephanie for the referral to a local (non-tourist) restaurant where we could enjoy authentic Jalisco-style Mexican food.

"Very Disappointed"
Robert S, 13 Octobre 2015

Had a problem with the shower in the room. Changed rooms but without an additional bed that we needed. The sofa bend not barely functional and very uncomfortable. The king size ben not that comfortable either. Rooms were very dimly lit which made it difficult to read in the evening. Location was ok, but a several block walk to the Riverwalk including under an interstate bridge. Staff was not accommodating at all.

"Don't expect them to honor package deals or manager available on weekend"
mstjgt, 12 Octobre 2015

Overall staff and hotel were great. Only problem was with rates. No discounts for AAA. AARP or honoring package deal offered on their Web page. Manager not available on weekends and didn't return staff's call. I guess that's a way to run a business if there is a complaint on the weekend. Very disappointed as no where in AAA book or Webpage did it say no discounts on weekends.

"EXCELLENT Place to stay"
Karen J, 11 Octobre 2015

The staff was GREAT from the front desk to the breakfast staff to the cleaning staff. All wonderful! The hotel was very clean and updated. Very nice rooms. Breakfast was awesome. Would definitely stay here again. WYFI was not the best.

"Great service, and affordable"
Twyla H, 11 Octobre 2015

I was attending a conference in the area and of course because of the Alamo, the hotels in the area were all quite costly. However, staying at this hotel was comfortable and clean, and thanks to an internet special they were running, I saved over $300 on my 3 day stay by coming here instead of the hotel that my conference was at. All hotels charge for parking in the area, and this location is no exception, except that the charge seems to be less than other hotels in the area. If you are fortunate as I was, you might be able to book an online rate that does not charge for parking. I will say that the room is a bit dated, but that did not seem to detract from the comfort. FOREWARNING -- The internet service here, although included, is extremely shoddy as of this writing in October 2015. On one evening I could not connect at all which made me sad since I couldn't talk to my children. However, for the price, the value is quite high and I was okay not being able to access it.

"Not quite Riverwalk....."
Angie49a, 06 Octobre 2015

The hotel was easy to locate and we were fortunate enough to be checked in a bit early. The room was fairly standard, clean and with good amenities but the wi-if was extremely poor quality. There was a reasonable selection of breakfast items although no fat-free milk available for my cereal. Considering that the hotel was a good few blocks away from the popular Riverwalk area, which is well worth a visit, we were charged for parking at $12.95 per night. I could understand the charge if this was closer to the centre of town and space was at a premium but this would not appear to be the case. There is a small shop next to the reception area which was convenient but we were charged $3.25 for a bottle of water. I put this down to hotel prices but the following day we purchased two bottles of soda and charged only $2 each which was much more acceptable. That made the water seem extremely expensive. However, the hotel suited our needs for our two night stay in beautiful San Antonio.

"Next Time"
William T W, 05 Octobre 2015

Great facility for the price and location near to down town San Antonio and the Alamo. You are not that far from the airport and you are very near the freeway. Being comfortable is very important when are away from home. I felt very comfortable at this facility.

"Dissapointed!"
kennethm369, 05 Octobre 2015

We have stayed at this hotel several times in past years. Upon our arrival, we were informed of a parking fee of $12.95 per night. It was too late to make other reservations. Both my wife and i had backaches each morning caused by the bed. Upon checkout, the front desk person argued with me about whether i had received a copy of final bill under my door. He was not happy having to make a copy. Poor attitude. Breakfast was very good.

"not a great value for money"
Vatsal P, 02 Octobre 2015

the property should offer dining facilities considering that there a very few options in the vicinity. the front desk was extremely prompt, helpful and went out of their way. while the breakfast staff were very unfriendly and made us feel as though they were extending a favour by serving.

"Excellent choice"
333jeraldu, 29 Septembre 2015

An excellent choice for your visit to the San Antonio/Riverwalk area. This hotel is well maintained inside and out, the rooms are very clean and comfortable (especially the beds), there's coffee and iced tea always available, and the complimentary breakfast has something for everyone, even waffles in the shape of Texas! But what makes this hotel rate 5 stars is their outstanding staff – from Ana who helped me organize everything I needed for our group and oversaw our stay, to all the knowledgeable and very pleasant front staff, to every attendant/employee we met, we were greeted with hospitality, courtesy and helpfulness. It helped to make our reunion especially enjoyable and memorable. Thank you!
