    « Florida exploration »

Stayed for the night while on our way to our final destination and would recommend if looking for a well affordable hotel that is within walking distance of the attractions of Saint Augustine. Trolley stop is close by if interested in touring the town and not able to make the walk. Rooms are very basic but found the air freshener a bit too strong and the heating system antiquated.

    « Nice stay »

We stayed here for 2 nights. Location is good, 10 min walk to the historical main street. The room was clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable. Staff was also very attentive. However the breakfast was very disappointing and the room price was too high.

« Great Stay at Best Western »

Very Clean, staff was very nice and accomodating, breakfast was adequate to start the day, would definitely recommend this hotel.close to old jail and fountain of youth. An easy bike ride to town, also trolley close by.

« Best Western St. Augustine, Florida »

The room I was assigned # 120 was in need of maintenance. The Shower faucet needed two hands to pull out to turn on the water. Maybe just a little WD-40. When adjusting the shower head, the pipe came out from the wall where it freely moved in and out while trying to adjust it. I don't feel I needed to call and let front desk know about this because I didn't want the Inconvenience of having to change rooms after I was already settled in. These rooms should be checked for proper operation before being assigned to a guest. The room was cleaned just as we arrived for check in and the floor was still a little wet when we went in, which was not a problem, but there was a stuffy scent in the room which I believe came from whatever was used to clean the floor ie. dirty water, dirty mop or other not fresh cleaning equipment.

« Decent stay but shortcomings... »

Let me say, the staff was outstanding! From the front desk to service personnel, everyone was friendly and greeted you with a smile. Nice large room, ours had 2 over-sized queens with the usual TV and fridge. Breakfast was also above average with waffles, fruit and a nice assortment of breads and cereals. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars was the hotel design. The breakfast area is ridiculously small, so we were forced to take our food back to the room. Same problem with the parking lot- not nearly enough space. We ended up at the next door Hampton. With rates this high (over 140 night for weekend), you'd expect not to feel squeezed.

    « Matthew Evacuation Stay »

We live in downtown St Augustine and were unable to return to our home the day after Matthew. While walking by the hotel, (we had to walk into downtown to get to our home) we noticed that this hotel was open. We went in to make a reservation and found out they were offering an $80 per night evacuation rate for all of the people who had been displaced by the storm. The room we got was updated with a beachy feel. Wood tile flooring with scatter rugs made you feel like it was clean. A great hot shower was a wonderful addition. In the morning we enjoyed hot coffee and a very nice buffet breakfast. The staff, Deborah, Ladella, and Pat could not have been nicer or more caring for all of the people who were staying with them. The experience was a bright star in a dim time!

    « Repeat visit »

This place is great. Though without reservations, we were able to check in for a night's stay while en route further south to Orlando. The room was clean, beds neatly made and comfortable, pillows just right, and friendly and helpful staff. The complimentary breakfast was tasty and filling. The dining area is a bit small, but hey, it's a roadside inn, not a 10-story hotel. Getting to the historical sites is easily accomplished, and our desk clerk was a walking atlas of the city. She was never too busy to greet us with a friendly smile and helpful attitude. We'll definitely stay there again!

    « Road trip »

We arrived a few days after a hurricane, our first hotel cancelled. The staff here is exceptional! Everyone is friendly and helpful, even if it isn't their job to handle something. Room was clean, everything worked. Wi-fi very good. Breakfast was good. My only complaint (of most hotels) is that cereals are too sweet. Direct TV not great. The breakfast area is quite small but it was never a problem even tho the hotel was quite full. This is a good place to stay if you want reasonable prices in this area. If you are a walker, you can walk into town.

« Our first visit to St Augustine »

We booked this hotel via Trip Adviser and stayed for 2 nights (2-3 September). This Best Western is 1 of 3 BW's in St Augustine and perhaps the smallest but met all our needs. Well located close to the historical district. Room was very comfortable as was the bed. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and service 1st class. Although quite small, enjoyed a few swims in the pool which was very clean as well as the surrounding area. St Augustine is a lovely interesting city with many good eating facilities. However, parking in the center is an issue and at peak times difficult to find a slot.

« Satisfied all our needs! »

Great place!! Needed adjoining room for elderly parent which they guaranteed when I made the reservation!! It was a handicapped room which was even better!!! Having microwave & fridge helped so much. Staff was amazing - very receptive and responsive to our needs. Breakfast buffet was simple but delicious choices. Everywhere was clean and comfortable! Great location for us as well.

    « a memerable quick getaway »

All worked out Just Fine!!! Will recommend to my Daughter & my son's family as they usually get to St. Augustine at least twice a year - so now they will choose best Western to stay, I m sure. PS: there were a few anxious moments when locked out of our room, But as I said All worked out and Best Western made thing Right -- Go Show For them!! ---- Thanks, Ted R.

    « excellent management »

Hotel is conveniently placed in the historical district of st. Augustine, a beautiful city, and was very close to the beach and two different tour trolleys. They offered d breakfast and housekeeping and the manage was extremely gracious and helpful in making sure we had everything we needed.

    « Amazing!! »

The staff here is amazing! Couldn't ask for more. They went out of their way to be helpful with anything and everything. They were constantly smiling and greeting me as if they knew me, the room was great, the breakfast was awesome! I was so impressed!

    4
    « Nice overnight stay »

I was greeted by the assistant manager who was very courteous and wasted no time getting me checked in. I was put in a handicap room, and perhaps since I travel with a service animal the staff thought I needed such a room. I don't, but the room was just fine nonetheless. Very quiet and comfortable room, and very clean. The breakfast the next morning was great and any time any of the staff would see me, I was greeted with a "good morning." This was from the housekeepers to the front desk staff. I would stay here again with no problem.

    3
    « Get away »

Room is clean and modern, complimentary breakfast not as as others, very small and crowded, pool and hot tub clean, plenty of pillows on the king bed, could use an extra end table by the bed, clean out weighs the table

« reasonable price for the location »

There were other best western closer to center of town but more expensive the closer you get. With the trolley tour you can purchase your ticket at the hotel and they call for a free shuttle to bring you to the stop at the beginning of the tour and the shuttle brings you back when you are done. Hot breakfast was the usual eggs, meats, waffles, cereals, fruit and muffins. All fresh with a very clean dining area although very small. Staff was friendly and room was clean. Not able to walk to any stores or attractions at this location on main highway was the only drawback but we did like the price difference to being in town.

    « Best Western for hubby's birthday »

we book Best Western Historical not having a clue where it was located in St. Augestine. We were pleasantly surprised when we checked in...It has a pool and hot breakfast ...breakfast was omelete.bacon or sausage with toast English muffins and a variety of cold items as well as juice and tea or coffee..wifi too..we are staying 2 Nights and the price is quite reasonable...The lady at the desk was very helpful in recommending the hopper for $3.00 per person so we could go for cocktails and not have to drive...Room was clean and comfortable, and yes we would stay here again..L

« Not Quite Up to BW Standards... »

Just stayed last night at this Best Western property and was a bit disappointed. We'll say right up front the room was clean...but, an updating is needed. Our biggest problem was trying to find a wall outlet that we could plug into and have our cord stay connected. All plug ins are old and yellow...it would be an easy fix to change these out and bingo...power. The young lady checking us in was not very friendly or helpful and with this being her job she needs some training on people skills. Breakfast...was on the plus side with bacon, sausage, egg/cheese patties along with waffles (you make) and a variety of breads and drinks. The young lady in the breakfast room was very cordial and was always present re-stocking and asking if we needed anything. When it comes to rooms...be aware...NO ELEVATOR so it's haul the luggage up and down. Also, don't take the back left corner rooms as the employees smoke break area is right there...yucky smelling. In a pinch we would stay there again....we did make the manager aware of these issues and she simply said they were scheduled for a re-model next year. She seemed to not be interested in what we were saying???? Apparently she had just arrived and it appeared this wasn't a desired assignment. Now...if you want someone who will both show interest and help you with sight seeing or whatever...DEBRA IS YOUR LADY!!!! She helped us to plan our day and was a shining light at this Best Western.

« Great place to stay »

Clean Hotel. Very courteous staff. Air conditioner was quieter than others we stayed at. Convenient location for sight-seeing and near major streets, highways. Our room had a refrigerator and micro-wave.

    « One Night »

The hotel is located near the main attractions. The hotel grounds are very clean. The Wifi did not work in the room and there are no elevators since it is an old hotel. Did not have any problems with the staff and the room was clean

    « Loved it!! »

Here for a long, girls weekend. More than happy with accommodations. Very clean. Nice, newly renovated rooms. Comfortable beds. Close to attractions. Great amenities. Helpful staff. Decent complimentary breakfast. Would stay here again.

    « Excellent room »

Two bedroom, first floor, newly remodeled, clean, excellent front desk staff. Goody bag upon arrival containing water, chips, protein bars, and a Danish. Love the laminate flooring. I always hated wall to wall carpeting. Tile in the bath and near sink. Shower /tub unit and curtain: very clean. Flat screen TV, microwave, fridge and coffee maker: clean.

    5
    « An amazing stay »

My stay was amazing. I loved how when you needed something the staff was always there. Especially the front desk staff and the maintenance man Nelson. I loved how he insisted on helping me with my bags even after I told him no thank you. Thank you for making our stay a unforgettable one. My children loved the pool.

« Stay at Historical Inn »

It's a wonderful place to stay, yes you have some areas of concerns in the pass stays that I seen in present to work on, plumbing as to every time we'll flush it looks as if it will run over, then some cooling issues leak in ac unit the last time but over all was still good time.

« Small get way time 3 days »

« It was awesome. I would go here again. »

The location was the first thing I cared about,IT WAS AMAZING (we could have walked everywhere if we wanted to).The room was nice and clean and staff kept supplies like towels stocked. The pool was nice as well. But mostly the staff was so compliant and friendly. Especially Jenevieve(I think that was her name) ,she helped us a lot. The people who work there are genuinely nice and care. Also their free breakfast sausage was dope.

« A Night at Best Western Historical St. Augustine »

We enjoyed the room very much. The king size bed was very comfortable. We had a refrigerator and microwave in our room. The hotel provided FREE WIFI. We are glad we picked this hotel because it was close to Old Historic St. Augustine.

    5
    « No problems! »

Stayed for four nights with an infant, and we enjoyed the entire stay. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, and the housekeeping crew even left us several notes while they cleaned and made our beds. After breakfast, there is always fresh fruit out in the lobby for guests. We'll definitely keep this hotel in mind for our next trip.

« Would Rate Higher If Not For Musty Smell »

My family and I stayed at the Beat Western Historical in July for one night during our Florida Vacation. We booked via Best Western website and chose the 2 Queen Room. The motel was very clean for the most part and appeared to have been recently renovated. The front desk was polite and the pool area was nice. There are not many rooms there so the amount of guests were minimal. The breakfast was standard hot continental breakfasts offered and included a waffle maker. The only issues I had was the room had a musty smell and location really isn't prime. There is a trolley stop a few blocks away, but if you want to avoid trolley stops and be by Fort and St. George, I would recommend Best Western Bayfront. We would have preferred this location but they had no rooms to suite our family at that time.

    3
    « Uncomfortable one-night stay »

We stayed one night while visiting St. Augustine Old Town. Though the motel was updated the building looked okay, the motel still had a creepy feel about it, some folks staying here had their doors wide open all day and night, coming out to smoke at the banister in front of the rooms and arguing, it made us feel uncomfortable, and if my kids were with me I would not have stayed. Later in the evening it did get quiet, but it was difficult to overcome that strange feeling like people were living here. The room was updated, bed was a platform but was okay, the pillows were very small, an odd square size. I asked for quarters to do laundry was told they had none, sent me to the motel next door, they sold them to me. I tried at the BW for something else, I asked for an extra blanket and she looked but they had none. The laundry area is one washer and one dryer outside a few rooms downstairs in a very dark corner, the dryer did not work very well, we asked at the motel next door but unfortunately when we looked theirs were already in use. The drain for the sink was rotted so we took it out so it wouldn't fall through the pipes. The breakfast area, food service as well as check-out folks were all very nice.... We did love our time in St. Augustine even with this not so great experience, will stay closer to town next time or at the Hampton Inn next door.

    4
    « Great hotel »

We were very pleased with this hotel. The complimentary breakfast was great, everything clean and service was good. We were close to downtown area and the fort. Able to walk to most locations. The room was clean and had everything you would need.

    3
« Great location but dirty »

Probably can't get a much better location in St. Augustine for the price. Exterior appearance very good. Pool very nice. But floors in rooms were filthy dirty. Also the key reader on the door to one room (we had two) only worked once. It was never fixed during our stay (two nights). We used the entry to one room for access to both. Not sure I could recommend this BW to anyone.

    3
« Not the best, but not the worst »

Overall the hotel was fine. I was just upset at check in as I had told the employee that I wanted to pay cash and she ended up charging it to my debit card anyways. Just be careful when paying and double check your bill at check out.

    2
    « I would not recommend »

My husband and I traveled to St. Aug for my friend's wedding and stayed here for the quick weekend we were in town. I have had good experience with Best Western but I was not happy with this hotel. The room smelled strongly of mold or mildew. Our room was not clean. It appeared to have been cleaned quickly and sloppily. The floors were dusty and dirty. There was some trash left on the floor. Parking is very limited. There was absolutely no view. Our room to the rear of a property looked like it overlooked a junkyard. I realize the hotel can't help who the neighbors are. But it can make sure rooms are well cared for, clean, and clean smelling. This hotel did not measure up.

    4
    « Nice clean convenient »

I found this hotel staff very friendly. The room was standard hotel room. Nice and clean. Pool was nice. Very convenient to all of the attractions. I would definitely stay here again. They even gave me an extended check out time so I could enjoy another beach day.

    « Good »

Not very centrally located, but within a 20 minutes walking distance from downtown. We were expecting better wlelcome from the registration desk. The first breakfast was served with " sorry no milk today". But an overall good service.

    5
« Mother in law trip »

Hotel was ok, our room was clean. Greeted by friendly front desk staff. Hotel is on the older side, was well kept and clean. Breakfast was average hotel hot breakfast. For the price not bad hotel. We would stay here again.

« Saint Augustine Best Western is very nice »

This hotel was close to the downtown making it easy to come and go fast. Staff very very friendly. The breakfast was very good. It's a small dining area but sufficient. Very clean everywhere. They make sure you are taken care of.

    « Excellent Hotel! »

We spent the weekend here in St. Augustine and loved staying at this hotel. Our room was stunning and the staff was always willing to help and friendly. This hotel is just a couple blocks away from one of the first trolley stops, so it made it easy to walk there in the mornings and hop on the trolley. The only comment we would like to make is every morning at breakfast it was a little packed with people because the area is so small. The food was GREAT, but it would be nice to have a little more room. We actually took the breakfast to our rooms with the trays they provided which was a nice way to solve that problem. We will definitely be coming back and staying here any time we are in St Augustine. Great for families, singles, couples, anyone!

    5
« great service and CLEAN »

Well managed with friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. Cary was great at helping us personalize our reservation and Erin gave us great tips on how to see the sights in our 3 days there. Plus, she directed us to a beach with a splash park for the kids! The hotel was very clean and had a nice variety of breakfast items both hot and also some wrapped to go. the hotel is located within walking distance (moderate walk) of many historical sites. thank you for making our stay comfortable best western historical:)

    « Great Service / Breakfast lacking »

Great hotel / location. Clean and modern. Continental breakfast lacking. Food items obviously pre frozen. Pasty stale. Coffee from a vending type machine. Very poor tasting. Staff excellent and helpful with area attractions.

    5
    « Comfy Beds, etc »

We always stay at the BW when we visit relatives. It's clean and well managed. The staff is helpful and they offer a free tasty breakfast. This hotel is close to local attractions and some excellent restaurants. The cost is fair with free parking and WIFI in all the rooms.

    1
    « Ehhh »

Over all the place on the outside looked nice, but on the inside we found dirty toilets, ants on the counter and a dirty shower. The air never really got cold either. Decent location if you're looking to tour downtown. But the hotel just didn't quite meet the expectations we had in mind for it.

    5
« Wonderful Stay Loved the Hotel Would Stay Again »

Stayed for two nights in April and loved it. The room was very nice and larger than most with two queen beds, plus a chair and a desk to use a laptop computer. The sink was outside of the shower toilet and the exhaust fan was on a separate switch then the light which I enjoy. The staff were extremely friendly and we liked the idea that it was a short walk to the Red Train Stop or you can even walk all the way downtown. The hotel is a short ride to the beach that we were able to go to one day. The breakfast was above average with both a hot waffle maker along with cheese omelettes, ham and sausage patties, bagels, bread, danish. The pool and hot tub was nice and had a few tables and lounge chairs and we were able to take advantage of it each day. The only negatives I have to say about the hotel during our stay was that the ice maker on the second floor was not working well but there was another by the front desk. Also, the door to the unit was a challenge to open but once we got the hang of pulling down on the handle hard and pushing it was okay. Would certainly stay here again.

    5
    « Updated and affordable »

Check in was very smooth and the woman at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. We asked to switch rooms and she helped us instantly, no problems. Rooms are clean and contemporary. Location is excellent, walking distances to the park and hazel'so hot dogs!

    « DISAPPOINTING STAY »

We stayed in this hotel because it was chosen for a wedding. Historic should be changed to old in the title. The room was so so, with hardwood floors and not so clean rug between the two queen beds. The bed was clean, but not so with the bathroom. I left a note for the toilet to be cleaned as it had black mold around the rim. The shower did no look clean enough either. The furniture was a miss match of things. We did not attempt to eat breakfast there, as there was a very small area to sit and it was crowded. When we left the computer was down so we did not get a copy of our bill. We have called and requested it three times. Supposedly it will be sent by mail, but as of now, we do not have it. There are too many other places to stay, so I would not recommend this hotel.

    3
« Not as good as previous visits »

This is the third time we visited this hotel over the past few years. The first time was for my dgt.'s wedding in St. Augustine and we booked 10 rooms - no complaints from anyone! The 2nd time was 3 years ago for a visit to a friend in town. It was still a good deal. This time however, the place looked like it needed a make-over. The rug was dingy, the bathtub was very small (My large husband had a hard time using it for a shower), the corners of the room had dust in them, and the overall look of the room looked old. There was a strong smell of cleaner when you walked into the lobby. However, the breakfast was the worst. My husband took a wrapped strawberry pastry, opened it, and found it to have mold all over one side. My pastry did not have mold, so I took a bite and it was stale. I gave the moldy one to the staff at the desk who promptly went and removed all the pastries. Also, the bananas were brown. It did not make for an appetizing atmosphere. We had coffee and tea out by the pool because there was no room to sit in the breakfast area - very crowded. A good point, was that the bed was comfortable, the towels were clean and the place was quiet. Overall, I will look for another motel/hotel the next time we visit St. Augustine.

    3
« Our final visit here »

The room and beds were clean. Hardwood floor in room which was okay. Personnel was very nice. We stayed from Monday night until Sunday night. Very tight parking and very crowded. Breakfast was the worst we have ever experienced. 5-6 tables for 4 each in "dining room"...they suggested you take your food on a tray and eat in your room. The was a first for me! Food items were all in plastic...like a vending machine. Same quality as a vending machine! One waffle iron with 4 small waffles inside....I saw a lot of them go in the trash. Coffee was extremely strong. Room coffee was good. We tried to eat there twice and ended up visiting Winn Dixie. Would have changed hotels but a car show was scheduled and everything was booked solid. Next time, we will go closer to the Historical District. This was not near even though it was called a Historical Inn.

    4
    « Pleasant night »

The room was very clean. The staff was very polite. The free breakfast was nice, but the dinning area is very small; I grabbed some food and took it to my room. There is no elevator, so make sure you request a bottom floor if you are unable to use stairs. The receptionist made a point to ask me if I was ok with a 2nd floor room, which I was; I thought it was very considerate.

    4
« Best Value for location »

This Best Western has a great location and the rooms are spacious and inviting. Modern decor with ample parking and an easy ride into the sites and downtown restaurants and shopping, as well as all the tourists sites.

    5
« Great location and great value for the money »

We stayed in room 207 and had a great time. The location of the hotel is fantastic. It's close to downtown and also not far from shopping outlet malls. The pool was nice sized and had a hot tun that was a comfortable temperature. The rooms were updated and had wood laminate floors. The floors were so nice to have in a hotel. I'm so pleased it wasn't carpet! The rooms were very clean. The rooms have a microwave, mini fridge and direct tv satellite. The man that cleaned our room this week was incredibly friendly and made sure we had all of our supplies. We stayed April 3 through April 9. He was always smiling and our room was clean and tidy everyday we came back. I would stay here again.

    5
    « Lovely stay »

very pleased. Nice hardwood like floors instead of carpet. It was very clean. Beds comfy and nice good size bathroom. very clean shower. No rings around it and the shower curtain was very clean. Breakfast was good, with sausage, egg/cheese omlet, waffles..Internet worked great the whole time. You could probably walk to the district from here, but it is a bit further than I wanted to. so we just drove down across from the Castille fort and parked for the day and walked.

    3
    « Alright »

The room was not bad, I am not a big fan of carpet, so I like the floors. The rooms seemed clean, no complaints there. The a/c could be better, but I did not burn up either. The walk is a healthy one to downtown, but it is def. walkable. I did not eat breakfast so idk about that, not for any reason, just slept in. The hot tub was not working, they told us we could use Hamptons next door. You can def. stay a few days without any regrets...that's just me tho...

    3
    « Girl's trip »

We had room 101 close to ice maker and lobby/breakfast area. Not a bad location considering the potential for noise. The tub/toilet area was really tight with door closed. The room was clean and we liked the laminate flooring. Not a fancy room but it was ok for our needs. Front desk was helpful when asked about computer printer etc. Major complaint: the hot tub was out of commission for the entirety of our stay--Monday through Friday. We walked 18 miles in the first two days and would have LOVED to have soaked our old lady bones in some hot water. The pool is not heated, so we couldn't get in that either. The continental breakfast was good with hot and cold choices. The eating area is super small, so we ate in our room all week. We were able to park in front of our room 90% of the time.

« Decent for the price »

Clean room, decent decor, laminate floors in room a nice touch. Breakfast includes some hot items, but small area in lobby for it. Convenient location to historic area. Could definitely walk it. Overall, good value for the money. Reviewed by someone who prefers 4 star travel.

« Booked a King, was told on arrival they "only have a few" and we couldn't get one. Bugs, etc. »

Very disappointed. We booked a king room for 2 days and upon arrival was told they only have a few king suites and they were already full. They charged us for a king room still, however. We had to park off site because their parking lot was full. The bathroom had ants everywhere and the hotel door wouldn't shut all the way without slamming it as hard as we could. The only good thing I can say was it was within walking distance to most attractions.

« WORST OF 6 ON OUR ROAD TRIP »

We had a suite, first thing we noticed was a full smelly garbage! Next thing was bugs all over kitchen counters, bathroom, and one bedroom, we called the desk and the lady in charge brought us alcohol because they didn't have any kind of bug spray. Floors were dirty and the bathroom had mold in the shower. Out of six hotels we stayed in this was by far the worst.

Great to see so many interesting things about the city , can't wait to go back and take more time Found some very exciting things that we didn;t know were there. Staff and hotel were both great! Would gladly stay there again.

We were very pleased upon arrival we checked in my son came in with me and the family were very pleased. The peppermint patties were very welcoming and made lil guys stay a happy one being one of his favorites. Pool was nice and clean and hot tub. Breakfast was nicely set up. Area is close to places. Good value.

    « Just ok. »

Pool / spa not maintained well. A/C worked great in the room. No elevators made things difficult with all of our baby / toddler gear. Room was quiet though. It was a long walk to the fort and to historic downtown. But doable...

    « Disappointing »

Disappointing. Most Best Westerns are much better quality. Mouldy room and very basic breakfast. Staff were okay. Location is excellent with 2 blocks to tour trolleys and only 6 blocks walk to heart of St Augustine. Will be a good location after renovations.

    « St Augustine »

My family and I try to meet at least once a year in St Augustine and have always stayed at this Best Western because it is away from the noise and crowds. It is very clean and on the whole the service has been very good.

    « Good experience »

This hotel was clean and convenient. The staff was friendly and it was located within easy walking distance to all the attractions in St. Augustine. All four of us were pleased with our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

    « Ants and Dirt »

I'm probably generous in my rating. The people were generally nice, and tried to help in a bad situation. But we had ants- in a second floor room. They offered to move us next door, but that room had ants too. To their credit, they did comp us both nights. I had to go out at 11:00 pm to buy my own bug spray. In the process of spraying, I had a closer look in corners and behind furniture than you'd ever want. Baseboards were filthy. The small rug in between the beds was dirty and stained. Despite the name, this hotel is at the edge of town, not in walking distance downtown. In addition there's a rail line about 100 yards away, and the trains run all night. And last, they're putting new floors in the rooms, hard surfaces. Thank goodness we were upstairs, because I'm sure people on the first floor will hear lots of footsteps.

    « Nice small Inn »

Small historic Inn, that is well maintained. Close to the historical sights is St. Augustine. Check in was easy, staff had recommendations for dinner. Very quiet spot, so quiet we slept through breakfast. Lobby was clean looked like they had a nice area for breakfast.

    « Nice Older Hotel »

The hotel is older but well maintained. It is in a beautiful convenient location to Historic St. Augustine. Breakfast included cereal, pastries, toaster with bagels, bread or English muffins, yogurt, ham and eggs for sandwiches. The staff was friendly and efficient.

    « Quiet Hotel,close to Historic District »

We stayed at the Best Western Historical Inn for 1 night to see the Nights of Lights. We arrived early and were able to check into our room immediately on arrival. Our room was on the first floor and had parking right in front of the room. The room was nice. we really liked that it had wood floors throughout instead of carpet however we found the floor to be very sticky to walk on. The room upon entering also smelled very strongly of cleaner. The room looked like it had gone through a recent update but the air conditioner needed some work to be done, it was hard to adjust the temperature because there were no high/low..cool/warm readings around the dials (it looked like the panel was missing). We drove into town and were able to find easy parking upon returning to the hotel that evening. if you didn't want to move your car there was a service that would pick you up at the hotel for $3 a person. When we got back to the hotel in the evening both our room keys were deactivated so I had to go to the front desk to have them fix the issue. The hotel was very quiet at night and provided a good nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was good for a hotel continental breakfast with choice of waffles, eggs, sausage, cereals, fruit and danishes. I would recommend this hotel to someone who doesn't mind having to drive to the historic district..

    « Wonderful management »

We traveled with my two young boys for a wedding. We booked on booking.com with a non refundable rate. When we got to the hotel we were not happy with the room so we moved to another and were still not happy. The manager explained how they had been renovating and was very apologetic and asked what we would like to do. He ended up not charging us at all for the room. Tom Lane is the manager of the hotel. Because of his kindness and for being so helpful, we would definitely recommend this hotel. Great staff!!!

« Holiday lights on the holly holly trolley »

Very nice hotel with large rooms and good size bathroom. Free parking and free breakfast were a nice plus. The reception staff were all phenominal! Gave us great advice, especially recommended taxi service to take us to the old part of the city...cheaper than driving and paying for parking and without the hassle of traffic. I highly recommend this hotel.

« Needs a lot of help in many areas »

I was really hopeful for this hotel based on other reviews, but I have to say we were definitely disappointed with all of its shortcomings. Initially, we were in a nonsmoking king-bed room upstairs, but as soon as you walked in, there was a stale, heavy cigarette stink in the air. It smelled like someone had just been smoking in it previously. The front desk worker Carrie was kind enough to get us moved to another room with two queens downstairs, but things just went downhill from there. To get into the new room, Carrie had to literally throw her shoulder into the door to get it to open. This would be a repeated occurrence throughout the weekend, as the door would jam every time it closed. This room, although lacking the smoke odor, had the musty, wet air of a locker room. We stayed put because we figured we were out of options. We were hoping that a solid cleanup from housekeeping might help, but even after we left the next morning and came back around 1pm, the room had never been touched. I got to take my breakfast dishes to the front desk for disposal. Also, the keys reset themselves every night, even though we never kept them near our cell phones. Other findings: There was a 1/4" gap in the doorframe, which meant every noise, light, and smell came through the crack. Oh, and bugs. I continually found tiny ants running all over the floor, the bathroom counter, and even in the community breakfast area (guess that's why everything was wrapped in cellophane). The toilet noticeably rocked when you sat down on it, so I was in fear of tipping it over every time I used the facilities. And I heard the neighbors using their facilities every night as well, because the walls were like glorified cardboard. Even the decor and finishes were sad, dated, and mismatched; it was like the room just kind of gave up on itself. Positives: the location was close to downtown St. Augustine (still too far to walk), so securing an Uber was easy/cheap to do (although if you drive yourself, go out the side exit and not onto Ponce de Leon Blvd, as you can't turn left toward downtown out the front exit). Free breakfast and free wi-fi were nice. The price seemed pretty affordable, but we also had a group rate for a wedding in the area, so that may not be a true reflection of their usual prices. Overall, with all of the competition in the area, I feel like Best Western needs to step up their game in order to bring in customers. It felt like we were staying in a very tired, worn-out no-name highway motel. In our future trips to St. Augustine, we will be staying elsewhere.

« Best Western - Ponce De Leon St. Augustine »

Lobby was locked during business hours while staff slept in back room. Cockroach and ants in bathroom. Rooms in need of serious updates. Dusty and caulking peeling around sinks, toilet and in bathroom. High priced for down season.

    « Great location!! »

Located just across the street you can find the Historical Castillo de San Marco. It's also in front of the ocean. If you travel as us on a weekend the location is a little bit noisy. Although in the rooms you can't really notice the activity outside. You short distance to al the attractions, restaurants a bars. You don't need to have a car or neither get your car from the parking lot that is included. They don't have breakfast on site but right next to it there is a little place were you can have an amazing breakfast and it's not expensive. The rooms are just remodeled and they smeled really well. The bathroom is small but complete with toiletery. Overall we will come back next time we visit St Augustine.

Just remodel rooms lobby and pool area. Management was friendly and informative. We missed Rhonda at the front desk so give her a shout out for us. Breakfast hot and cold items. Fruit all during the day. Welcome bag and mints on the counter. Rooms are tastefully done. And no stinky carpet in rooms. Get location and convient to everything.

« Older clean did not smell »

This is an older Best Western undergoing some updates, it was clean. Very easy parking, coming and going proved to be an easy in and out of the parking lot and near the attractions. The price was surprisingly not as high as I thought it was going to be for the area we were in. I would recommend this place to others

« Group trip to see The Night of Lights »

Some rooms were not cleaned and fresh towels were not put in some rooms. A shelf fell off the wall in one room and in my room the toilet was not secured to the floor. All of these things were brought to the attention of the Manager Tom.

    « Historic is correct »

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. When we first checked in it seemed decent but as we stayed there it got worse. I was unable to dry my hair without the lights flickering on and off . When we woke up in the morning there were bugs in the bathroom area and all over the sink. I had to throw away some makeup because I had no idea if they had gotten in my stuff or not. When I tried to report this to the front desk, of course no one was there. Would never recommend to anyone and definitely would not return.

« Too far to walk into town »

Picked this location because it said historical district. Well it's at the edge of town and a good 2-3 miles away. There is a free shuttle to take you to the trolley stop #1 but they don't run after dark so we had a long walk back the first night. We were on the second floor and no elevator. The pool was closed for renovations that were taking place during our stay. Pick the bay front or Spanish quarter location so you can walk since there is little to no parking if you drive into town. Also parking lot full after dark.

« poor handicapped accessible room »

Be aware that if you are traveling with someone with 1 leg and no prosthesis, they will not be able to use the shower or tub in the "handicapped accessible " room---it does NOT have a 'walk in' shower, or a transfer bench or even a bench/sitting area in the shower. Just a regular tub & shower w/ a handrail on the wall!

The beds were comfortable every thing in the room worked fine only thing needed to be done was the rug needed vacuuming the TV worked great It is a short distance to the historical downtown The park had a Merry Go round which is great for the young kids The beach is a short distance away we will be back again

« Best Western Historical Inn »

This is a nice hotel to stay at near St Augustine, your about 1 mile from the downtown, walk around area. St Augustine is a very nice town to visit, people are friendly and there is so much history, we really enjoyed it. Worth the stop.

    « Yes, a contest »

I was told to be kind. Tom, you need to be a real person, not a canned response on tripadvisor. After a long day of walking and exploring the town we were late to arrive at the hotel. The check-in was fine, the rest of the stay qualified for a full refund. We were put on the first floor, room 120 to be exact. If you are given this room tell them no, short of a total remodel including removing the AC unit and tossing it in a dumpster this room will never smell clean. The place must book transient guests for longer terms as the 2 idiots above us were standing on the balcony smoking and drinking beer while having a spitting contest. Very impressive for a room priced at $90USD. The place finally calmed down about 1:00am. We skipped the breakfast and left early. This was not our usual Best Western experience and really does not fit the atmosphere of beautiful St. Augustine.

    « Needs remodeling »

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights while visiting St. Augustine. We always stay at Best Westerns and are generally happy with them. Upon entering the room we immediately notice a musty odor. The floor was some type of wood, but not very clean. We kept our shoes/or sandals on our entire stay. The tub and sink had hair in them. The room was missing the phone, and the desk chair was broken, I went to lift up on it to raise the height and it came apart. The phone and the chair were both reported to the staff, twice, but neither was ever fixed. The entire place seem in need of a remodeling. The continental breakfast wasn't bad and the pool and hot tub were in good condition. The room was quiet and the beds were fine. When I checked out I spoke to the manager about the phone and chair and he kindly compted us a night for the inconvenience. Overall, if we went to St. Augustine again, I'd try another hotel.

« Great Budget Friendly Hotel! »

We booked a room here at the last minute (after walking out of a nasty hotel down the street). The lady who checked us in at the after hours window was very helpful and got us into a great room right away! The room was spotless and smelled really good. We got a great night's sleep at a great price. We would definitely stay here again!

    « Saturday Night stay »

This past weekend we stayed one night at the Best Western Historical Inn in St. Augustine. The room was neat & well appointed. The staff were friendly & knowledgeable. The breakfast was better than most. 2 minor issues: the AC unit did not work properly in our room. We had to ask for needle nosed pliers to get the AC to function. And, there were sugar ants in our room.

    « It's okay »

It is what it is. It is what you expect when you book a Best Western. Clean rooms, average amenities, comfortable beds. Nice people, good service. No frills, nothing fancy. If that is your expectation then you will not be disappointed.

I Never Wrote Something about a Hotel but in this Case i have to ! The smell was terrible and it was very loud! We Never had such a Bad Night like this. We discussed to leave the Hotel in the Night due to the Bad smell! We told the Person At the Rezeption that the smell was horroble but they were Not Interested in that what we say. We Never Take a best Western in the Future , Not in US or in Any Other Country!
