Best Western Plus Hotel Universo

Spent a week at this hotel, cannot fault it in anyway. Perfectly situated beside the main train station and metro. Really welcoming hotel either way all the amenities you need. Rooms were excellent nice and modern with great bathroom. Reception and restaurant staff were excellent at all times very helpful. A special mention for the cleaning staff on the 4th floor, always willing to help and greeted us with a smile and a chat. Take time to visit the roof top bar, with great views of Rome. I really can't fault the hotel in any way. If you want to really enjoy the real Rome, this is the place to stay. Fabulous choice of restaurants on your doorstep and well priced. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

Had a great experience. The room was comfortable and spacious. Get the superior room with the balcony, so worth it. Never had breakfast but its available. Reception is a tad slow but very helpful and engaging. Would definitely stay again when in Rome

Best location with great service. The rooms were cleaned every day and they were very accommodating. We arrived early and they let us check in. We were close to all of Rome's attractions, stations and bus routes, everything was within walking distance.

Great Stay. Thank you for everything. The staff was amazing. Rooms were very clean. Housekeeping was awesome. We were able to check in at 10am. That was a huge help because our flight arrived at 6am. We had a spritz in the bar. Which was great. Can't wait to come back.

As couples over to explore Rome and take in the rugby we all found this an excellent base. Close to train station for arrival via airport Leonardo express ( 5min walk). Rooms good space comfortable beds shower over bath. Breakfast has the best moist scrambled eggs amongst freshly squeezed oranges , proscecco and everything else you would expect for 16euro. So many places to eat out that didn't try dinner menu but bar open to about 1130ish with very friendly staff. Highly recommend and easy to walk to so many sights within 30min

Great stay, nice clean room with plenty of space. Hotel is in a really good location for the train station as well as many attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of foods and drinks.

stayed here for the last night in Rome before morning flight. There's nothing that's unique / special about the hotel that makes this a destination hotel (nor it ever tries to be). but I'd note that it was certainly better than my expectation and plenty good for the purpose it served for me. would definitely stay here again if I need to book another transit hotel. Pro: fast checkin/fast checout location was very close to termini The room was unbelievably spacious for its price but I think I got upgraded without anyone telling me they did. bed was very plush and unexpectedly very nice. con: elevator seemed to get crowded at times

We stayed at this hotel at the end of November last year and we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself, as we had a very good location and a nice, modern room for an affordable rate. The 3 of us shared a 2-level deluxe room and loved the balcony, which we didn't expect. The room was clean and practical, however I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers as you could be bothered by others going up and down the stairs. However, the noise from outside or other rooms was negligible. We only had breakfast at the hotel and the food quality was high, with lots of options. Even the pastries were first-class, not like the ones that you can usually find at a buffet. The dining area was well-kept like the rest of the hotel. We will most likely return to Rome and Universo and enjoy the hotel once again.

Front desk people need schooling on how to listen. A/C wouldn't work in winter. Noise on the street was insufferable! It interfered with the quality of sleep! Sad that breakfast quality declined since our last visit!

This was my second time at this hotel in Rome. Each time the room was immaculate and the bed comfortable. I appreciated the choice of pillows. The staff is welcoming and personable - I have never felt like I was “Next”. The breakfast is huge and tasteful.

4 nights stay. A short 5 minute walk from Termini Station. A welcoming arrival. Reception area nice and open. Staff friendly and helpful. Seamless check in. Lifts available to different part of each floor. Only meal I had was breakfast. A wide variety, hot and cold. Room was cleaned every day, bed made, towels changed, bathroom cleaned etc. I didn't ask for it to be done so it was much appreciated. Room perfect size. It had a wee balcony as well. No chairs though but nice just fresh air and watch the world go by. Would definitely recommend this hotel. I had a 3 day metro pass which was 18 euros but I walked a lot. Easy enough to get around. Great hotel and the friendliest staff ever. Location was perfect for everything we wanted to do on our short stay in Rome. There were three couples and all our rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. I would highly recommend.

The staff were awesome! They were very kind to me and my husband super helpful with tours and any question we had about Rome or other parts of the country. Cristiano and Frederica went above and beyond to help us, they recommended restaurants, tour packages and show us how to used the public transport. I had the pleasure to stayed in this amazing family hotel from 01/17-01/29/24 and I recommended to anyone who wants to have a great experience! This hotel is very clean and the staff is just amazing! New Year's Eve. Excellent stay Nice 2 levels room Spotlessly clean, excellent shower with good water pressure. Breakfast in room on time and as requested. Check in and check out was very quick considering the season. Highly recommended . Thumb up

The hotel is well situated 5 min walk to the main termini station ,20 mins to the trevi fountain and colleseum,the room was clean and a good size,with a minibar and safe always handy,the staff at reception were very good, helping us book tours and giving us helpful tips,there was a good choice of restaurants in the surrounding area,the breakfast was good value and the rooftop bar was lovely for a early evening drink before heading out,all in all a lovely experience,

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times below when in Rome on business and have found it to be very nice. This stay was no different with the bed, being the most important part, being very comfy. Only issue was that I had a broken shower head fixing, which didn't get fixed. But I was only there for two nights, so wasn't that much of a deal.

Great stay, great customer service from all staff, very friendly and helpful. I would suggest you stay here if you'd like a close location to the city, but not in the middle of the main tourist attractions.

I'll be back ! This was close to Termini , cost efficient, and clean . Modern , safe, and big breakfast buffet included. Roof top bar only problem lack of staff and service. Not a happy employee alone setting up bar service for roof top.

We would return here to stay and recommend to others in a heartbeat. The location is ideal a few blocks from Rome Termini and also easy walking to the main sights. Plentiful dining and convenience shops in the area. Clean and comfortable room and good amenities. The huge bath towels were appreciated. We arrived quite early from the US and were grateful to be able to check in early for a much needed rest. The breakfast is an excellent value for the items and service provided. The staff we dealt with were genuinely friendly and helpful.

the hotel was 5min walking distance to Rome termini; its breakfast was buffet style, had lots of selections; my room was quiet, despite it's next to the elevator; there were plenty of restaurants nearby, overall, I would recommend this hotel, might use it again, if I come back to Rome in the future.

We've just had 4 nights at this hotel and it's been an absolutely perfect choice for discovering Rome. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast has a huge selection of fresh food and the rooftop terrace bar is the perfect spot to relax after a hard day's walking around thus beautiful city. The bedrooms are very modern and stylishly decorated and the backout curtains guarantee a solid nights sleep! There are lots of bars and restaurants within short walking distance of the hotel and the relaxed feel makes it is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Finally, one of the highlights of the days were our morning exchanges with the restaurant manageress!!! She taught us Italian (sei­cento­dodici) so we could say our room number and we taught her some Welsh (diolch and bore da)!! A brilliant hotel and one we would definitely use again if in Rome. Clean hotel! Got the king comfort room and had a blast! Air conditioner worked great, breakfast was amazing plenty of food and hotel staff was very helpful! We got here and didn't even know it but we walked right by the collision our way to dinner and it was only at 10 minutes walk. Also if you're sober there is a meeting 5 mins away walking distance.

Hotel is in good location situated near the train station and within 30 mins walk to lots of the key tourist sites. Rooms were clean, showers were decent and it made a good base to stay from. Breakfast could have been better but otherwise the hotel facilities were good and staff friendly.

We found a bed bug and had bites found in the morning Went to reception to report it and asked to email as manager was not there About ten minutes later another family came down and handed a tissue with bed bugs from there room too So it appears they have an infestation and we were on the 7th floor so it will be all over Beware

A really comfortable, clean hotel with friendly staff and a really nice roof top bar. Although we didn't eat at the hotel, the breakfast seemed reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in Rome. All staff seemed very friendly and helpful in ordering taxi's and offering advice. A 20-30 walk to the main sights in Rome but around the hotel the streets are packed with nice restaurants and bars. A really enjoyable stay.

The location is good for walking to different sites. The rooms are clean and modern, and have been upgraded since our last stay in 2011. There is a bar on the roof with a lovely view of the surrounding area. This is a well priced hotel in an easy access location.

This is my go-to when I'm in Rome; easy walking distance from Termini Station, nice neighborhood with cafes and restaurants, excellent service, staff, and amenities! Spatious rooms, fitness center, excellent breakfast buffet, and the staff was very accommodating in helping me with transports. Stop looking and get booking!

For the price, the rooms are modern and large. Washroom is spacious too. They might have to work on the shower though as the water gets all over the place. Otherwise the place is clean, safe and modern. Location is near the Termini as well as many restaurants.

Excellent hotel in a great location. Just 5 minutes from Termini station and around 15 minutes walk to Trevi or the coloseum and theres plenty of restaurants close by. All the staff I encountered were really friendly too.

A nice hotel with an excellent location, close to two Metro stations which makes your transportation from/to main tourists attractions but also from/to Fiumicino airport very convenient. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was rich. Surrounded by nice restaurants.

We stayed here for one night after a cruise before our flight out the next day. Very convenient location close to Termini train station and walkable to Rome attractions. Lots of restaurants nearby. Front desk staff were all pleasant. AC worked great in the July 2023 heat wave!

Family off 4. Had 2 rooms for our last night in Rome. Rooms were very good, bar fridge, clean, modern. Checkin very quick and easy. Only marking down a star for the roof top bar where we ended up ordering dinner, which was below average awful. Looked like reheated Lasagne from a few days ago, and everything else was basic. Breakfast was good, as was the service. Good hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during my work trip to Rome. The hotel is conveniently located very close to Termini station, with numerous delicious restaurants and a nearby supermarket. This made it a convenient choice for me. The breakfast provided was plentiful and delicious, and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, offering us valuable sightseeing advice. The room I stayed in was a junior suite, which had a unique loft-style floor plan. The living room was situated on the bottom floor, while the bedroom was on the top floor. The floor area of the room was spacious and comfortable, providing a pleasant stay. Overall, I was highly satisfied with my stay, rating it 98 out of 100. However, I did encounter a few minor issues: 1. The number of outlets in the room was limited. There were no outlets near the loft desk or the sofa area. It would have been more convenient to have outlets in these locations. Additionally, having USB connectors next to the bed would have been a nice addition. 2. After taking a shower, the floor inevitably got wet. I suggest improving the quality of the glass doors to prevent this issue. Despite these minor improvements, the hotel's price was reasonable compared to other options in the area, which made me quite satisfied with my overall experience.

We were so impressed! Clean, beautifully remodeled, delicious breakfast offerings and walking distance to many local sights. Would definitely go back when in Rome. The rooms were so comfortable and the sleep experience was great. Also, was very impressed with the vaulted ceilings in our rooms!

Had a very comfortable stay, our rooms were spacious as well as the bathrooms. Safe is not vey big. The resort was quite even though hotel is on a busy street. Be prepared to wait for elevator/lift. Near many eateries which are all within walking distance, felt very safe in the area.

Stayed at the Hotel Universo for 4 nights. This was our first time in Rome so I don't have anything to compare it to but, the staff was friendly and helpful and the room size for the city was not bad. They offered to get us tickets for local attractions or a cab to the airport. One of our suitcase wheels got broken by the airlines and the militance person helped us fix it (much needed on the cobblestone roads). The breakfast buffet in the morning was well worth the extra fee with everything you could imagine to eat. It was only 5 minutes from the Roma Termini and a few blocks from the Metro. I was worried we would hear the train but it was very quiet! We would definitely stay again!

We stayed at this hotel on our visit to Rome the first week in January. After flying into Rome it was nice to be able to take the express train to the Termini station and then be able take a very short 5 minute walk to the hotel. We found the property to be very clean. The staff was very business oriented but friendly at the same time. Our room was exactly what we had reserved with a large bed for my wife and I and a smaller bed for our adult daughter. One thing we weren't expecting was that the room had two bathrooms. This was a nice bonus. The smaller bathroom contained a toilet, small sink and a large glassed in shower. The large bathroom had a bath tub, toilet, bidet and two sinks. The mattresses on both beds were very comfortable and we slept quite well. The room did get very warm a couple of times but we were able to open the windows to help manage the temperature. The buffet breakfast offered each morning had a lot of variety and was very good. The breakfast room was well maintained by the staff and nothing was ever out of place. Food was placed on the buffet in small enough portions that it was always fresh. I would definitely recommend the pancakes and the waffles! I would certainly stay at this hotel again if I ever return to Rome!

I stayed at this hotel for two single nights in January 2023 at the beginning and end of a recent Italian holiday. I chose it for its location close to Rome Termini railway station. The location proved to be perfect, about 10 minutes walk (with a suitcase) from the station but in a relatively quiet street. The rooms were compact but up-to-date, clean and well-appointed. Bathrooms were excellent, beds comfortable. The staff were helpful and spoke excellent English. The big plus here is the restaurant, which provides breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner menu selection wasn't huge but it still had a god variety of dishes and the meals I had were great. Breakfast buffet was very good. I'd definitely stay here again.

The location is amazing and very close to public transportation and even in walking distance of most of the tourist attractions. The room was very clean and well arranged. There was soap and shampoo and body wash provided by the hotel.

Lovely hotel that is incredibly central! We walked everywhere, and it only took us 5 mins to Termini training station when we want to hop on a train and head further out. Highly recommend including breakfast, food is good and gets you up and moving first thing in the morning. We were the first tourists in a long time to ask about the thermal suite, its essentially a sauna and steam room for 2, I'd recommend checking it out.

We stayed here from December 31 until January 14, 2023. I cannot say enough about this hotel. Its location is ideal, a 5 minute flat walk from Termini train station as well as the two metro lines in Rome that go to nearly all the main attractions. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. Housekeeping came every day if you want them to. The beds were so comfortable with plenty of pillows and options to order special pillows if you need something specific. Breakfast was our favorite part though. Huge selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, even hot options. And they never stopped asking if you want a special coffee that came complete with wonderful little extra pastries. We also loved the rooftop bar. Beautiful view of Rome, you order by phone and they bring up your drinks quickly and usually with chips on the side. I tried to think of any cons here and I couldn't come up with one. I love this place. Will definitely stay here again if I'm lucky enough to return to Rome.

The best western universo was an extremely great hotel for our stay , close to the centre of Rome and extremely clean , rooms were clean every day and the staff were extremely helpful, the only letdown was a very limited menu in the restaurant, but there are some great restaurants close so overall a great experience and I would definitely stay again , it has restored my faith in best western establishments which in the past has been a let down . This is definitely not one of those . 5stars

The hotel was lovely and very convenient in many ways. There are lots of restaurants nearby for dining out and some shops for little snacks, water etc. It is about 5mintues walk to the Termini and transportation is easy to get. We used the City Sightseeing Tour Bus as our main transport as it took us to the places we wanted to see, and the bus stop for it is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. We would stay there again in the future. I highly recommend this hotel :-)

The check-in staff, especially Cristiano and Marcelo were very accommodating, as was the bartender. Some rooms do not have a view, but the location near the train station and walkability to Trestevere, Pizza Navona, Trevi Fountain, etc. is good.

We stayed with our 10month old baby and the crew were extremely helpful with our needs. The restaurant/bar staff helped with heating up our baby food and freezing the homecooked food on arrival. The hotel staff provided a baby tub too.

I had a pleasant one night stay. I was able to check in early. The room was small, but nice. The property is convenient to the train station. I have to type 200 characters, but all I have to say is it was a nice stay, affordable, and I'm satisfied.

This location was great. We did a lot of train travel while there and the station was only a few blocks away. Staff and room were great. Fantastic breakfast and dinner as well. Would definitely come again!

This is a great hotel located in a fantastic area, close to restaurants and bars and within walking distance to the many attractions and places of historical interest. The hotel staff were all very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was also top class

The room was average, location okay and view from the room horrendous- our balcony looked onto air conditioning units and was very loud. We were also right next to the lift which was also very noisy. During the stay a pair of expensive trainers went missing from the room. The staff have been useless- when trying to contact the hotel regarding this the reception staff member put the phone down on me, when I called back he then said to call the next day- there was a clear language barrier. The next day I called and they still denied this. Since this I have wrote to the hotel but they have totally disregarded that fact that my trainers have been stolen and only apologised for the poor communication.

Can I say extremely rude and awful service. First off, my family and I arrived to Rome a couple hours early. When I asked Federica if I we could check in a couple hours early being that our flight arrived at an earlier time, she first said they didn't have any rooms available, however after we noticed several customers checked in early as well, we questioned her, and then was told they would have a room available in 30 min. After finally arriving to our room, we were pretty much placed in front of tall buildings. However, we didn't say anything, we were just happy to have a room. Not to mention, there were no adapters to charge phones, blow dry your hair, or any other thing you need an adapter for. As a matter of fact, when we asked hotel staff if one was available, Christiano told us to go across the street and buy a universal adapter because the hotel had none available. Also when we asked for a manager, we were told there wasn't one available for several hours. Also after being out all day, we were finally able to relax only to find out you couldn't control the temperature of the room. The receptionist told us the A/C was broke. Then after taking a shower, water seeps underneath the shower causing a complete disaster. We literally had to use every towel to try to clean up the flooded bathroom. Last but not least, there weren't any Ice buckets, therefore we literally had to walk to the bar and they gave us a bowl of ice. Our supposedly wonderful experience turned out to be a nightmare. The staff at this establishment is extremely snobbish & rude. Especially Federica & Christiano. Their complete attitude towards our family was appalling to say the least. If you want to stay in an establishment with a more accommodating staff, stay away from here.

Enjoyed that this hotel was centrally located, walking distance to good restaurants, shopping and the various sites we wanted to visit. The breakfast was with full of many delicious choices. Also, enjoyed the rooftop bar area with beautiful views of the city.

The location of the hotel is excellent - very close to the metro and with its help you can get anywhere simply and quickly. The hotel staff is very kind and the breakfast is rich and indulgent. Definitely highly recommended

Good value hotel, the hotel is old but the rooms are obviously newly renovated, it's very close to Roma termini which is very convenient for us for taking public transportation like buses and trains, very clean hotel and staff are nice, very close to so many good restaurants and attractions,

I've stayed 2x at the BW Universo. Love the location and friendly staff. The hotel is renovated and has great amenities. The rooms are spacious and is great for families as well. Close to Termini Sta, and other attractions in Rome.

I really did not want to write this review, but the Customer Service department of Best Western is forcing me to do so. While our experience at BW Universe was good overall, the way they have dealt with my issue is incredibly poor. I left a very nice coat hanging in the closet of our room when checking out, and did not notice until we were a couple of hours into our drive up to Venice. I called the hotel to enquire as to someone (room cleaning?) possibly finding the coat, especially since we encountered the room cleaner and exchanged pleasantries as we left to go to check out. I was told by the front desk that nothing had been turned in as yet, but to call agin the next morning. I did so and was dismissed by the person answering and told to send an email. I did, and while taking full responsibility for leaving my coat, I enquired as to the hotel room cleaning procedures and specifically if checking the closet was part of standard operating procedure, which in these days more than ever I would think happens for every room turnover. I've both spoken to the hotel directly, and have received email replies also where they simply cannot understand the question of "Is checking the room closet a part of cleaning the room?" I've now received numerous emails from BW customer service agents, the last of which this morning was from someone in the "Language" section of customer service (???), and all are basically the same blah blah of thanking me for pointing out a potential problem in service. Neither the hotel nor their BW customer service has offered anything other than denying that it couldn't possibly be an issue within their hotel. In my opinion, either the room cleaner did not check the room closet (???), or they found a nice coat and kept it. In the end I take responsibility for leaving my coat, but shouldn't BW acknowledge the problem here and take some responsibility?

The hotel is perfectly located, close to Termini Station and many tourist spots. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was tiny, with barely any room to walk around the bed, which is my only complaint.

Overall stay was outstanding except one thing. Best Western charged my Visa credit card twice. One for $474.68 on Oct 26, 2022 and the other one was $470.40 on Oct. 29, 2022, I am not sure which is correct amount. They should know better. I am hoping that someone will refund one of the charges.

Good location, few minutes to Metro and some sites worth visiting nearby. Lots of restaurants around. Staff are helpful. Counter can make change for you. Only drawback is it is expensive to travel by taxi to airport but there are trains and shuttles that run from the terminal a few minutes away.

A nice and perfectly adequate hotel situated 10 minutes walk from Rome Termini Railway Station and within 30 minutes from the Forum and Colosseum with many restaurants and bars around it. it was very convenient and just nice for a stopover or even a longer trip. Being near the termini also means that you can use it as a base for train trips within the region

It is very nearby Rome Termini Station, it takes around 10min by walk. Also, its facility is quite new and nice enough. I recommend that every family or couple will be good for tourism!!! There are many Korean restaurants and supermarket.

We stayed here with a group and then extended for an additional day. It was very good. Nice clean room, good breakfast and good location. Simple walk to the Roma Termini Good mix of business and tourist travel with families and children Roof top bar great place to wind down at end of day. Bartender doing a great job!

This hotel was located perfectly and the rooms were remodeled and modern. Price was reasonable. It was clean. Staff helpful. Even had a pillow menu. Not your typical Best Western. We loved it!! We highly recommend this hotel. Close to hop on hop off stop. Restaurants everywhere. Some tourist sites walkable.

My wife and I absolutely enjoyed our stay and found there were many attractions and restaurants within a short walk. Every interaction with the staff was a pleasure as they were always friendly and accommodating. Our room appeared to have been recently updated and had a nice balcony to enjoy a morning Cappuccino..

If you are looking for a hotel near the train station, this is the place to stay at, easy 7 minute walk with luggage in tow, plus you are close to the train and bus station. When we do go back to Rome we will stay here again. Recommend getting room with balcony to relax and enjoy a bottle of wine.

Clean hotel in a great location close to Termini station and the main sights walkable. Stayed in an junior suite with an awkward layout. Bed is up a staircase in a loft which means up and down stairs to use a washroom. There's a sitting area on the main floor but no television as the only tv is upstairs where the bed is. Only washroom is on main level. We had a balcony but no chairs on it to enjoy sitting out. Room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was nothing special for the price. Lots of nearby places for a better value breakfast. Great area with many sidewalk patios and shops.

The accommodations were great and satisfying! Courteous front desk personnel were very welcoming and did a convenient arrangement of airport to hotel travels! Breakfast had excellent variety of meals and servers are quick to assist. The room is spacious, kept clean and tidy. The location was very accessible to visit sites in Rome and conveniently travel to other places since train station is nearby.

We stayed here for one night because we didn't want to travel at night to Florence. Chose the hotel for 2 reasons: American brand we know and proximity to train station. The location is only convenient if you absolutely need to be near the train station. The area is very suspect, dirty, lots of questionable people lurking around, and extremely busy (watch out for scammers). otherwise stay closer to Centro Storico (old town) as you will be closer to all attractions. The hotel is run down and in desperate need of a total refurb. You don't want to be walking around this area past 10PM as I feel like you could be mugged. We booked a regular room, but were given an “upgrade” which was a two story room with a most inconvenient set of stairs with one A/C per floor… We could never get the A/C to work right… it was either too cold or too warm in the room. The carpet was stained, the bathroom was not very clean with hairs from the previous occupant or two all over the stairs and floor. Breakfast was awful as none of the food looked fresh. The only good part was the cappuccino we ordered. The bread tasted stale and had (chewy), the sausage was of the poorest quality, and the scrambled eggs looked raw. The fruit was flavorless and was a bit hard. The staff was friendly and helpful, so nothing wrong with the staff. We will never stay here again.

The hotel is located quite convenient, 400 m from Termini station. Many restaurants in the area , not great but not that bad. The front office , F&B and housekeeping staff is great. Rooms are small, furniture a bit outdated. Should change the chairs in the rooms, very worn out.

Stayed here on the Rome leg of our Italian holiday. The staff are lovely, hotel is spotless. We had a great room, super comfy bed, fab shower. Breakfast is amazing, the variety is fantastic. Definitely recommend!

Spent 3 days and loved every moment, close to the station and restaurants aplenty nearby , within walking distance to the main attractions but also tours can be provided and taxis on request but after having the buffet breakfast which is great btw it's better to walk lol, staff were great and rooms were very modern and well maintained , would not hesitate to stay there again . Note airport is around 45 minutes away

Excellent location near all the major attractions. Train station was less than 5 minutes away. Large choice of restaurants within a two block radius. Easy to get a taxi/Uber. Very helpful staff. Will definitely stay here again.

this hotel was exceptional great location the beds were great and the breakfast was fantastic and they kept up with the number of cappuchinos I drink while I am in Italy the temperature in the room was just right and the staff were super friendly

Check in was very difficult but yet they did accommodate an hour before 2 PM. Very clean but very very busy. Hotel offers restaurant which is reasonable if you do breakfast good selection, basic European but good selection. Fresh food. Clean

I writing this review without actually staying here. We had originally booked to stay here in 2020 through Nustay.com Covid happened and everything got cancelled. Nustay rebooked us for 2021 and further lockdowns came Nustay went bankrupt, so I got in touch with hotel, explaining the the third party had gone bankrupt. Martin from the hotel changed the dates for us , again we weren't able to visit Rome so we asked Martin to add new names to our reservations and changes the stay dates for June/ July stay 2022. Well our other guest made it Rome and checked in without any Problems thanks to Martin. This is short version of it. I want to Thank Martin for all the help and say this is how customer service should When we do go to Rome, this will be my choice of stay Thank you Martin.

was very impressed with the hotel service and amenities. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was impressive. Added bonus was the option of arranging an airport shuttle and keeping your bags when you check out till you take the shuttle

The hotel was central and easy to find and get around to see the sites. The staff were all friendly and helpful day and night. The room was a bit small but that's not unexpected in Europe, but it was well appointed with all the things a traveller would need. It was clean and housekeeping kept it that way too. We totally enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel was very comfortable and clean, and the room was soundproof. We asked for a quiet room and we were not disappointed! Both breakfast and dinner was lovely with a lot of choice. As for gluten-free options we were always given a basket with an arangement of bread, toasts, and sweets. For dinner, all gluten-free opstions were clearly marked. The staff were probably the most professional and friendly we ever encountered! Specially the dinner staff!

Clean rooms, fantastic shower and bathroom. Great breakfast. Not the greatest beds. Friendly staff. The location is convenient, being close to Termini and walking distance from local attractions. Internet is not the fastest. Overall a great experience.

The location of the hotel was perfect. Just a few minutes walk from the train terminal. Roof top drinks at night was great bonus! Rooms were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

A pretty and unusual bi-level room. In earlier review I commented the lower level (bath, closet, desk and high back chairs) could really have used at least one comfy club chair in that space. Also, be warned if you utilize.laundry service, you will pay dry cleaning prices for machine washables. It seems a complicated process--I spent 2 days and 117 euros to get underwear and polyester items clean.

I had a perfect stay here. Everything was just as I hoped/expected. All staff were friendly. I was able to walk all around Rome using this as my base but there are also good links to trains and tour buses etc. I will definitely book again for my next stay in Rome. Breakfast was food and roof top bar staff all friendly and helpful. I had booked this hotel via Jet2 and hotel transfer was available.

Good location & great service! It's just a few minutes walk from the train station. About 45min-1hr from some of the major historical sites (Coliseum/Trevi Fountain/etc). Short cab ride to everything else. Modern rooms. Very clean. Restaurant is priced in line with local external venues. Overall, would gladly stay here again. Even good option as a pre-cruise spot as shuttles are easy to arrange to get you to Civitavecchia.

This hotel is good value for money and in a great location. Roma termini is so close for getting too and from the airport. (Short walk). The hotel is also 20 minutes walk from the main attractions so we found this the best way to get around! I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel, room was made up everyday and staff stored our bags as we arrived way before check in time!

From the minute we arrived we were warmly welcomed. Gorgeous room - huge- very quiet and peaceful. All staff members were hugely helpful. Breakfast was great. Fantastic location with good transportation links and nice eateries on the doorstep. Travelling solo with two children - couldn't have been a pleasanter or easier stay. Will return! Thank you.

This hotel is a quick 5 min walk from Roma Termini. There's lots of food and transportation nearby. The coleseo is about 20 min walking as is Trevi fountain. Great location. They upgraded my room randomly, so that was a nice surprise upon arrival. Rooms do have ac but it shuts off when you leave the room and you have to turn it on each time. I would stay again if in the area and it's still reasonably priced

Can't recommend the Hotel Universo enough! Superb location - just a few, easy minutes walk from Termini station makes getting to and from the airport a breeze. And a very pleasant 20 min walk to the Trevi fountain one way or the Colosseum / Forum the other. The metro stop to go to the Vatican is a 5 minute walk. Lots of really lovely restaurants all around the hotel. The hotel itself is very pleasant, modern and clean. We had 3 rooms - a comfort double and triple which were a good size and much bigger than expected. The triple had a huge bathroom with bath and separate shower. The 3rd room, a Deluxe, was amazing - duplex complete with a fresco on the ceiling! Rooms cleaned perfectly every day. The service throughout the hotel was superb - reception staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast service staff could not have been more helpful especially the lady at the door! Breakfast was amazing - everything you could want and more. Staff were more than happy to bring non-dairy milk and espressos as requested. If you arrive before 2pm they will store your luggage in a room off reception. Special mention to the amazing roof top bar. Cocktails were great, lovely staff and amazing view (see photo)!

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo in Rome! It was about a 15 minute walk from most big tourist attractions we wanted to see and in the heart of a lot of cool, fun areas. The area seemed very nice and safe, the hotel staff was great and helped us book our car service easily, and the room was nice as well.

Good sized balcony would benefit from seating - nice sized room - good breakfast English and continental self service - bar was never open during day or evening and the restaurant was very very quiet in the evenings - we ate at local restaurants every evening

My first time out of the states and wanted a familiar brand. Best Western Plus didn't disappoint. Hotel very clean. Modern hotel. Equivalent to the Best Westerns in USA about a 3-Star. Breakfast had over 20 or so options with a mixture of several meats, nuts, fruits, breads, pastries. And combination of breakfast items and lunch items like pizza, breadsticks, etc. breakfast also came with cappuccino

Great hotel, super friendly staff, very clean rooms and common areas. Breakfast was fantastic! Probably the best we have had throughout Europe and North America. Lovely little rooftop lounge is the perfect way to end a long day of sightseeing and overlook the city.

Very good location near attractions and very clean rooms yet mine was a bit small. In general, very clean hotel. Breakfast was excellent with good variety and amazing service. Highly recommended for either business or short visit in Rome.

This is a lovely hotel that is spotlessly clean, has friendly and helpful staff and an excellent breakfast! It is situated close to the Colosseum and on a tour bus route. Lovely cafes and restaurants nearby and an excellent ice cream shop!

Best Western was a nice location it had everything around it, restaurants, transportation to sights very convenient. Hotel was cozy and clean, roof top restaurant dry nice and the 2 gentlemen that served us was very helpful and catered to our needs. Room was clean and cozy and front desk people was very friendly and helpful. Best Western Plus has exceeded my expectations of the hotel better than expected.

Have always loved Best Western Plus - this hotel was struggling to be even a three star hotel. It's shown as a four. Impolite. Short. And even when you smile and show that you understand - nothing. I speak Italian and I even had to hear them say something obnoxious as I walked away. Do not eat dinner here. Terrible. They said they were under staffed and could not open restaurant downstairs so you have the 8th floor. Water poured out of shower even though closed the door well. Drain was slow. 4 towels each day on floor. AC was great. Talked to hotel n two occasions before arriving to pay for an early check in. Understand not possible. But the staff were stressed at check-in and check out time. And when I stay somewhere I do like to feel welcome and comfortable. Sadly didn't happen

We stayed here a couple nights pre-cruise. The hotel is not fancy, but the room is clean and properly equipped. It's a short walk to the metro and the train station. There are many restaurants around the area. The hotel breakfast was better than I expected. I will definitely stay again.

Close to Termini , the center transportation hub in the city with a shopping center. There are many excellent restaurants just within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was good and of best value. Room was clean and quiet. Air conditioning was great.

Close to Termini, walkable to many tourist attractions. Clean room and nice hospitality and friendly staff. Has rooftop restaurant and view of city at night with the cool breeze was a good feel. Would recommend to anyone and will come back in future!

The hotel is in a great location - near the train station, surrounded by many restaurants. However, the hotel is dated and needs to be renovated. They should also update their toiletry collection. The hand soap, shampoo, and lotion scents were very unpleasant. But what will keep me from returning to this hotel is the sewer/stale water smell that seeps into the room. It wasn't constant for me, but when it manifested, it was quite unpleasant. Perhaps if one isn't assigned an inner facing room, the ventilation might be better?? I also didn't really enjoy their breakfast selection. I like a hot, hearty breakfast; unfortunately their options were not appetizing to me. The pancakes were cold. The scrambled eggs were runny. The hot water for tea was luke warm. Chocolate croissants would have been nice. However, The AC and WiFi worked well and the bed was comfortable. The shower worked well and the staff were very nice. If you have a short stint in Rome and just need a quick, clean place to sleep and can get a room with good ventilation, this hotel could be a decent option. But you should know this is definitely NOT a 4-star hotel.

Just returned home from a lovely stay. Hotel is basic but comfortable but the staff are wonderful The electric went off in our room one evening and within ten minutes someone came and fixed it The shower door was faulty and I went to reception and reported it. Within minutes we were moved to another room. Everyone from reception, bar and domestic staff were really friendly

Book last minute stay for 4 nights June 2022 when our original booking could not accommodate us for another night per our travel agent - this is not a 4 star hotel! Leak in ceiling above shower that was growing mold (see picture). Made front desk aware and they seemed unimpressed. Called for an iron 3 times in two hours and was ignored before my husband went down stairs to retrieve. Rooms are close together and noisy. Breakfast was average. In ill repair and the only thing this hotel has going for it is central location by termini but you can do so much better for the money. Stay elsewhere!!

It is in a very good location, with easy access to tourist attractions. The rooms are clean and the bed is very comfortable.Generous breakfast, delicious dinners, friendly staff. We were happy with our choice.

We were on a group tour and stated this hotel for 3 nights. It's the best hotel I've stayed at in all of Italy. Comfortable beds, wonderful shower, clean and great staff. Fantastic selection of food for breakfast.

This was an OK place to stay with a few drawbacks. It was quiet and well-located with proximity to Roma Termini. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast buffet was quite good. The area felt safe. However, our friends staying in another room had the toilet flush mechanism fall off the wall when they entered, and the glass shower door fell on me while I was showering. I wasn't injured, but seriously, they could use some better maintenance. It was really hot when we visited and at least the AC kept up and was an excellent relief. There is nothing glam about this hotel, but it served the purpose of a central spot to tour Rome.

Stayed for 3 nights superior room on the 7th floor, rooms comfortable, clean and modern, nice balcony, breakfast good and carried. The bathroom was ok but a little on the small side, the shower cubicle was small and leaked. Overall a pleasant stay, nice location close to all major attractions via the bus terminal where you could find plenty of taxis, you would struggle to walk to the major attractions as some have stated from this hotel.

Great location only a few minutes walk from Roma Termini and metro stations. Good sized room with minibar (to mean this means a tiny fridge) and a kettle. Good bed and pillows, clean both bathroom and room. Everything I needed.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms very big compared to most European hotels. Beds were comfortable and AC was great. There was a 20min wait for check in because of a large group. Breakfast was good-scrambled eggs, toast, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, meats, juices, cereal. I had to ask for cream for coffee. Restaurants within walking distance and if you need a taxi the front desk will call you one. I reported a leak in my shower ceiling that was not addressed and didn't get much help from the front desk in finding non-feather pillows (son has allergies) otherwise it was great.

While it is not a boutique hotel it provides a great location, a few blocks from the main train station. A perfect spot to stay before a cruise if you want to be in Rome vs an airport location. They offer free breakfast and wifi and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

My wife and I spent a weekend break at this hotel. Fantastic location; beautiful room; sumptuous buffet breakfast; very courteous and professional staff. Strategic location close to Stazione Termini and a few minutes away from Via Nazzionale. We always choose this hotel when in Rome and we are never disappointed. Highly recommended.

In April and May 2022, my wife and I stayed at the Best Western Universo for 5 nights, during 2 separate stays. On our first stay, after a 9-hour red eye flight from Washington, DC, the gentleman at the front desk (I wish I had noted his name!) found a room for us 2 hours earlier than the stated check-in time. Much-appreciated! That was an early indication of how our 5 nights at the Hotel went -- helpful staff, quiet and comfortable rooms (one with a great balcony and view of Rome!), outstanding, convenient location. Over 5 stays there in the course of 4 years, we have learned that the Hotel Universo is within a 10-minute walk of not only Termini Train Station, but also several good restaurants for both lunch and dinner; the National Museum of Rome (in the old Baths of Diocletian); wine stores; pharmacies; convenience stores -- absolutely everything we have needed for a comfortable, convenient stay in the Eternal City. Highly recommended to all!

We were originally booked to stay at Best Western Universo for 4 nights in June 2020 but due to the pandemic we were not able to stay until 2022. During the 2 year delay the Universo staff were easy to contact and provided an exceptional service to ensure we would eventually be able to stay at Universo. During our stay all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were very clean and spacious. The breakfast had plenty of choices and was very good. We all had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return to Universo

It's the best hotel near Termini station ROOMS: not so big, but comfortable. Excellent soundproof - you hear nothing from the street. Comfortable bed, good size bathroom. LOCATION: 5min walking from Termini railway station, 15min walking distance to Colosseum and other famous places in the city. There are a lot of different restaurants and groceries nearby. FOOD: good breakfast (6:30-10:30) includes buffet with different types of food like meat, cheese, fruits and veggies, toasts, flakes, pastry and etc. There is also option for lunch and dinner for extra payment. FACILITIES: fast wi-fi, gym and bar. Congress hall. STAFF: very polite and friendly.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is in good location. The room was basic but clean and tidy. Nice touch having the kettle and coffee/tea sachets. Didn't have food or drink from here so cannot comment on the food. Pleasant experience overall. Would stay again if in Rome.

We stayed there for five nights and were quite happy with our stay. The room was very nice with a big bathroom and a very big bed. Before arrival I asked for a room with a shower but got a room with a bathtub but I understand that it is not always possible to everything the guest asks for. Also it was not possible to close the door to the bathroom without it rubbing against the wall with a lot of noise. The service from the staff was very good. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection and excellent service. The bar staff was also very good but they should go over their stock management. One night they did not have a cold beer and three nights in a row they did not have the mint for the Mojito :-). But these issues are minimal for us and we would choose the hotel again when we return to beautiful Rome.

This hotel is fabulous! A location which could not be better for easy walking distance to all places of interest, with great accommodation, friendly & helpful staff & comfortable facilities. Breakfast in the neighbouring bar is first class & having visited this hotel on numerous occasions, I could not fault a thing! We'll certainly book again!

Our tour group chose this hotel for us and it was just fine. As Americans, we were a little surprised at the small space and the odd half-door shower door on the tub, but overall it was good. The bed was the most comfortable one we had in Italy - others were way too firm for me! This was also the only hotel that offered drawers to put our things - it was only two small drawers, but we appreciated it! I think Americans also overpack, so it was a challenge to find places for all our "stuff." Regardless, it was a comfortable room, nice bathroom, had a closet, safe, and mini fridge. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied. I refuse to eat runny eggs, which I found at every breakfast buffet in Italy, but there was still plenty to eat and great cappuccino! Location was fine - I feel like Rome is so large, you have to walk a fair distance to get anywhere. We did enjoy just wandering the streets near the hotel. Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to travelers.

Our travel company swapped us to this hotel a week before we departed. Looking on-line wouldn't have been what I'd choose but once we arrived, the staff were very good, the hotel was clean and the location is perfect for a city visit. We had been booked into a duplex room with balcony, a bit of a mix up on arrival when we were given a standard room! Did eventually get moved but the standard room looked more modern while the duplex is teeny and walking up and down the stairs from the bed to the bathroom after trekking about Rome all day is something I could've done without. The balcony onto the busy side street we loved though. Breakfast was good with a varied choice and serving staff excellent. Hotel location is close walking distance to the major attractions, turn right and its about 15 mins max to the colosseum and turn left and its the same walking distance to reach the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. If you know Rome, you'll know then that all other attractions are within easy walking distance from these 2 main points. Termini station is about 10 mins walk away too. There are numerous good bars and restaurants near by and a very good main shopping street too. Due to the location alone I would be happy to stay here again.

An excellent stay, great location and very central. The train station and metro less than a 5 minute walk away. The rooms were clean and had everything you need. Breakfast was amazing and staff were so attentive. I would definitively recommend staying here and would return.

Excellent value, good location friendly, helpful staff. Rooms clean, quite, we had balcony rooms. Breakfast was excellent, lower cost than we expected, was great for a family group of 6 persons. Will return to Universo as soon as we can.

A ten minute walk from Roma Termini train station and we reached the hotel. A busy hotel in a vibrant location. Easily accessible to restaurants, bus-stop, metro and train-station to facilitate shuttling around in vast Rome. We stayed in the comfort triple and deluxe room. Comfortable beds. Room was equipped well. Had some concern with the kettle which was fixed immediately by the service personnel. Breakfast spread was rich and vast. A fitness centre at the basement helps break-down the breakfast calories well :) I found the snippet about the origin of Roscioli hotels interesting. Staff was warm and approachable. We stayed around Easter and they had decorations, easter eggs and an additional spread with some traditional Easter dishes which was nice (photo attached).

We have stayed for 3 nights in this hotel, room no. 239 .… I have no words …. The photos attached to my review will speak for themselves. While the breakfast was plentiful, staff very courteous and welcoming, the room was a disgrace. Foul sewage smell kept coming from the bathroom (wc and sink especially) continuously … the AC was very noisy (the fan was probably broken), walls were dirty as well some parts of the shower. When we arrived we have found some stains on the bedsheets (probably rust). Room was not soundproofed so you could hear everything. Moreover between the walls were passing some sewage pipes and I could hear the water flowing from the upper floors - accompanied by the sewage smell - basically I could tell you what time the neighbors took a shower or they've flushed their toiled. The view …. there was no view. We had a broken window that was opening completely (contrary to the safety measures that the hotels should follow) towards a backyard full of AC equipment. I could see that other rooms with balcony (sold for a higher price) were having the same “lovely” view as we had . Since the hotel was overbooked we couldn't change the room. The cherry on the top was the room service tray charge of 15 €. I know that they try to deter guests from ordering room service and to persuade them to visit the hotel restaurant, but still …. At least the food ordered was nice and the staff very polite and punctual. This hotel doesn't deserve the 4 stars that he has.

This is a busy tourist hotel. That means that tour groups are coming and going all the time. That makes it busy, if that is okay with you. Otherwise, you might want to choose something like a Hilton, which will of course cost you more. Since both Best Westerns that we stayed at in Italy had lots of tour groups coming and going, we might want to pay more and go to a Hilton, etc. instead next time. But what you get for your money is okay. We had reserved a Superior Room which is on the top floor and has a balcony. That is nice in that you get to see the city and that you don't have people possibly making noise on top of you. But you do have the balconies, and you can possibly have noisy people on the balcony next to you. The people on our floor were okay in that way, but it is something to think about. The issue we had was that the "air conditioning" such as it was, did not work. No fan, no air conditioning. We opened up the door to help with that, which helped. But when there was noise outside, it wasn't good. Regardless, the air conditioning should work. Because of that, we had them move us. We ended up on the second floor which was a Deluxe Room that had two levels. What was good about this is that the air conditioning worked very well. And it was quiet. So that was good. Breakfast is included. It is good, but you need to get there early. As the morning goes on, eggs and other items aren't resupplied and they start to get more and more runny. They do supply espresso drinks on request and that was great! We had dinner two nights in their restaurant and it was adequate. The hotel is in a tourist area a few blocks from Roma Termini, which is the main train terminal in Rome. So it was in a more basic part of town so you should consider that. We did not feel as safe going out at night and avoided doing that.

The location is great : near to almost everything at walking distance The rooms are very recent and well accomodated, however that a are a bit small. The bad point is the noise : A room door open ring or closing you will hear it We had also very noisy neighboord (room 228 on April 9th) that were shouting from 11pm to 1 am … and without any respect for other peoples !

I picked this for location. Two blocks from Termini. All bus, rail and Metro are right there. There are stores and shops like TIM and Vodaphone and food and many other services. The Termini has taxis all day and night.

The location is very close to the central station which makes getting around easy. The beds were very comfortable, and breakfast featured a good selection. The bathroom ventilation left something to be desired as we could smell something coming from other units.

We found it a bit difficult locating the hotel but once we found it, it was incredibly easy travelling from it to Termini Hotel. We managed to walk to all sightseeing sites by foot from our hotel. Breakfast was divine and kept us full past lunch, great selection. only con for this hotel is that it has one lift and our room was on the 8th floor! so a lot of the time we had to wait for the lift. In saying this, although our room was on the 8th floor beside the lift we could not hear any noise which was great

Another lovely stay in this great hotel!! Fantastic rooms in a fantastic location. The staff and amenities at the Universo are second to none. You are walking distance to all the main sights and sounds of Rome. Can't wait to go back !!

this hotel is right near the train station, a good neighborhood, since mostly everything is within walking distance in Rome it was convenient. the staff was super friendly , helpful, efficient and accomodating. the room was super clean, modern: very comfortable beds, pillows, and linen. the shower was so roomy and comfortable with nice amenities. i would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo a couple of weeks ago during my trip to Rome. It was my first time visiting Rome, so I did lots of research on places to stay. I'm extremely happy with the choice I made to stay here. The reason why I chose to stay here was the following: - Since it was my first trip to Rome solo, I opted to stick with a chain. I normally wouldn't do this, but I was alone and I didn't want to contend with things you may contend with in more quaint places like no elevators (I DO NOT pack lightly), hot water issues, etc. - I wanted a king bed and many of the places I looked at had a queen bed as their biggest bed. - I planned to walk to as many places as possible and the hotel was within a 30 min walk to most places - Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Pantheon, etc. My shuttle ride (not associated with the hotel at all) was horrible. It had dropped me off blocks away from the hotel and I arrived at the hotel a sweaty mess because I was dragging 2 luggages in my huge Winter coat and I kept getting lost because I did not realize the street names were etched into the buildings and not the street signs I was used to in Canada. When I finally arrived at the hotel, I was greeter very warmly by Front Desk. They advised me that they had upgraded me to a balcony room since it was my birthday, but it wouldn't be ready for a couple of hours. It was around noon by this time. No problem. They took my luggage while I waited. I asked where the washroom was (to wipe down all the sweat because I'm chubby) and the restaurant. The lobby washroom was located down the stairs. The hotel had excellent signage, so it was not difficult to find at all. The washroom was kept super clean. Because of my nausea issues, I try to avoid public washroom because the smell makes me insanely sick, but this was not the issue here. You know if a business takes care of their washrooms, you're in good hands. I took a seat in the lounge area of the lobby for a bit while I collected myself. There is adequate seating here and by Front Desk if you're ever in a position to have to sit and wait for anything. Once I collected myself, I made my way to the hotel restaurant. My server was named Simone (I'm sorry if I spelled his name wrong). He was super nice. I just ordered a small snack while waiting for my room. What I thought was a small snack was huge. It was a plate of prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella. A basket of bread was also brought out for me. This may be the norm in Rome, but the cheese was so good. Here in Canada, when you get the cheese here, it's still yummy, but very firm. This cheese was so soft and fresh. Delightful. After my meal, I proceeded to Front Desk to check-in. Check-in was a breeze. I was assigned Rm 724. The room was super clean which is a traveller's dream. Beddings were super soft. Mattress and pillows were super comfy. When I say comfy, I mean so comfy that I took naps and missed dinner time 3 nights in a row and had to order Uber Eats because it was so comfy. When you travel far, out of everything, this is what you need and want. Best Western Plus Hotel Universo did not disappoint there. Bathroom was spotless as well. It came with products to use, but I packed my own, so I can't comment on the quality. Let's talk about the towels. Finally! A hotel that provided large towels. Chubby people need larger towels and Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is a real one for providing them. I frequent hotels (Fairmonts, IHG, Marriott, Hilton, etc.) often and I've stayed in many resorts, and they usually just offer the towels that barely wrap around your hair. This made me happy. The sink was large, so it was great for washing my face at night and not splashing water everywhere. During my stay, I didn't have any issues with water or plumbing whatsoever. The closet was a decent size for the size of the room. I do wish that it had more hangers, but most people probably don't pack as much as I did, so that issue is so minuscule. There was a safe located in the closet which was super easy to use. Great for storing your valuables, but not a super huge safe to store your actual handbag or anything that size. The mini fridge was stocked with large bottles of flat and still water, pop and I think beer (I don't drink alcohol, so I didn't pay attention). Of course, there's a small fee for them. Nothing outrageous. There was also a kettle. I brought my own tea, so this was helpful. By the bed, the wall was fitted with outlets for regular plugs and USB to charge your phone. I brought a couple universal adapters, but this was very handy. It rained for a large part of my stay, but I did manage to enjoy some sunshine from the balcony when I could. And of course, I needed to take some selfies up there. Lol. The balcony had a table, a couple of chairs and a lounger. The view isn't spectacular, but being able to start the day by sliding the door open for fresh air is always nice. I didn't get the breakfast buffet included with my stay because I was unsure if I'd be awake for it, but I was able to check it out a couple of times. They just add the charge (€9) to your room. You're provided with gloves when entering and instructed that masks and gloves must be worn when you're up at the buffet. For a hotel, the buffet had a great spread. Lots to choose from whether you're in the mood for sweets, carb loading, fresh fruits, eggs, sausage, cheese, deli meats, cereal, etc. I don't like eggs, but I found myself obsessed with their scrambled eggs. Delicious. Freshly squeezed juices were available as well. A server would ask if you wanted cappuccino and it would be served with 2 mini doughnuts. They were so fresh and yummy. For my last night, it was pouring, so I decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Again, service was excellent. I ordered the calamari as a starter. Because of my dietary issues, I swapped the salad for chips. They were so good. For my main, I ordered lamb chops with potatoes. Dinner was delicious. I would have loved for a sauce to accompany the meal, but that's just me. A basket of bread was brought out with dinner, but I skipped it, so I can't speak to whether it was hot, fresh bread or not. Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is located close to so many things. If you want to take public transit, Termini Station is a quick 5 min walk away. I got to get in some Black Friday shopping on Via Nazionale just minutes away from the hotel as well. If you choose to take a taxi, just ask Front Desk to call one for you. They'll give you a slip with your taxi number on it and you're off. I opted to do most of my sightseeing past midnight. Unlike the hotels here that are buzzing at all hours of the night, I discovered from the dude at the restaurant across the street that I had to ring the doorbell to have the doors opened for me when I returned at 3am. Yes. I was a single woman walking around Rome late at night and can attest that it was completely safe. Shout out to the person working Front Desk who constantly had to come let me in and open the doors for my late-night Uber Eats. I probably annoyed the crap out of him, but he never once made me feel that way. Check-out was a breeze. I settled up my bill and the city taxes and that was that. I was breaking up with Best Western Plus Hotel Universo until next time. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and I recommend it for anyone who is travelling solo in Rome for the first time. I can't wait to return. (I know this review is super long winded, but it's going to be on my blog and I'm too lazy to write this twice. Lol.)

We chose the hotel because of the proximity to the train station which made it easy going to and from the airport. It was also within walking distance of other area attractions. The hotel followed Covid protocols and the people at the desk were helpful.

My husband and I only stayed one night at this property as our original trip was to Florence, but our flight home was out of Rome. However, I am planning to return to Rome with family next year and our experience has put this property at the top of our list for that next trip. This is far and away the nicest Best Western I have experienced. It is a quick walk from Termini Station and the rooms are very nice and very reasonably-priced. The whole property was sparklingly clean and our Jr Suite well-appointed, with comfortable beds, a lovely balcony and - my favorite - a spacious showers with fantastic water pressure and big, fluffy towels. The only thing missing was a robe and slippers. However, the best part of our stay was the staff. They were warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped foot in the lobby. Marco at the front desk was particularly helpful and charming. We look forward to returning in the future.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I had an awful experience at Best Western Universo this october, since multiple blunders were made on their part throughout my stay. First of all, after checking into my room I found that the shower was filthy with soap, dirt, and scratches. Not having enough time to move rooms, I cleaned it myself and went out to lunch. Then, after coming back, I found another person's luggage sitting in my room- the hotel staff had entered my room without my permission and dropped off someone else's belongings! I called the front desk and they sent someone up to retrieve them. I tried to ask what had happened but there was a language barrier so I gave up. I went down to the front desk to complain that night and the concierge said there was nothing he could do but I could come back in the morning to speak with the manager (as if it was up to me to remediate their mistakes). The next day while in the room, I received a call from the front desk where someone was muttering unintelligibly. I tried asking many times what they were saying, but they clearly couldn't understand me and kept yammering away. I think they were probably calling about room service, but it was sketchy because of the lack of communication and that we had a "do not disturb" sign on our door. Very odd. Went down again to talk to the manager that night and no one was in, yet again. Finally spoke to the manager on the last day and while he did sit down with me, he also tried to turn the situation around on me saying I hadn't given enough notice on this situation or he would have fixed it sooner (not true, as I had gone to the desk several times at this point). I said a voucher for a future stay wasn't acceptable as I didn't want to stay at the hotel again. He said he'd talk with his higher ups and work through a solution with me, giving me his email. Then I reached out again a week later asking for an update and he said a voucher was all he was going to do as that was their policy (so he lied to me about finding an alternate solution). I tried again to explain to him why this wasn't suitable but he would not budge. I gave plenty of opportunities to BW and the manager Martin to fix this but they have failed every step of the way, hence this review.

Overall a clean and spacious (by Rome standards) hotel close to transportation. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Colloseum is about a 20 minute walk. Lots of food and drink around the hotel.

Absolutely disgusted with the treatment by Martin Pirnokov one of your staff. I had originally booked to stay in this hotel on my European honeymoon from Australia in June 2020. Of course the pandemic broke put and the Australian borders closed (and are still closed) for international travel. I contacted the hotel to cancel the reservation and recieve a refund and was told I could only recieve a credit voucher and was offered 2 years on this. I then advised that I would prefer a refund as I do not know when I can travel again considering the situation in Australia to then be issued with a credit voucher from Martin for 1 year!? What do you mean? You offer 2 years and then issue one. I left it at that since then the voucher has obviously expired. I contacted the hotel 2 months ago to request a refund as the voucher had expired and I am still unable to leave my country and was not responded to for 2 months, I followed up again to find out what was happening with my refund to be responded to again by Martin telling me the situation was getting better in Italy and all I required was a vaccination and he could extend for a further 6 months. . . So what if I don't have a vaccination? Will you refund my money then? I advised Martin I am still unable to leave my country as the Australian borders are closed, the flight from Australia to Italy is 22 hours and can't just be rescheduled at the drop of a hat also without reprocussion trying to return to Australia with hotel quarantine periods required. I am also 8 months pregnant and will not be travelling with a 6 month old baby as suggested by offering a 6 month extension. Martin has now suggested i extend the voucher out the 6 months as he previously suggested and then extend again when that expires. I am sorry, but that is not acceptable, you are an international hotel chain and should be more considerate to guests personal situations. I can not leave my country to stay in your hotel. I would appreciate someone other than Martin contacting me about this situation to rectify respectively. Thank you.

Hotel Universo is an elegant and well priced hotel in Rome - a hotel of this quality would be much more per night in the US. It is very convenient to Rome Termini, so this hotel is great for those coming from the airport, or going to the airport for an outgoing flight. The rooms are of nice size, beautiful, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We did not have room facing the street or with a balcony, but as we were not there to hang out at the hotel, but to see Rome, the room was exactly what we needed at a good price. Access to tourist areas, either by walking, bus or metro makes it a good base for those exploring Rome. There are many restaurants immediately close to the restaurant, and some very interesting restaurants within a decent walking distance. The breakfast was the best we had during our two week stay in Italy. The staff are helpful and competent, but also very busy, so there was limited interaction, and if a large group is checking in or out, there may be a bit of a wait. When we are back in Rome, we will seek to book a room at this property, as well as recommend it to visitors we expect to come to visit us in Italy

We stayed for 4 nights in Sept 21 . Our room was a good size and the balcony was excellent for relaxing after a busy day. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night. Breakfast in morning had a good variety. It was busier at the weekend and I would advise having breakfast earlier to avoid the rush. The location was good, 5 min walk to termini from where we took the Terravision bus to airport. We walked to all the tourist sites in Rome from the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only small issue was the temperature of the water in the shower was unpredictable. It would turn very hot unexpectedly.

Nice room and friendly staff. Also very good breakfast was included on our room. The cleanness of the room was fairly good and I cant complain about nothing special.We enjoyed our five days trip in this hotel, also I should mention that the location of the hotel was so good with very good restaurants around.

We chose the hotel because of its location close to Termini station but on a quiet road close to a selection of good restaurants. We had a superior room with balcony on the 7th floor and the balcony was very spacious with a sunlounger as well as a table and chairs, and a view of Santa Maria Maggiore church and bell tower which looked lovely when illuminated at night. It was a great place to relax with a drink after a hard day's sightseeing. The room was spacious with a very large and comfortable bed, and very quiet all the time. The staff who serviced the room did an excellent job both of cleaning and restocking any items used. Staff at reception were always very pleasant and helpful. We chose not to take breakfast in the hotel because of not being able to select our own food from a buffet and possible delays waiting for a staff member to serve us if the hotel was busy (I know this is not the hotel's fault but a safety measure put in place because of Covid but it's not something we enjoy). There was a very nice café on the corner near the hotel which served a wide selection of breakfast dishes and we could have coffee in our room thanks to the electric kettle available. There were plenty of lifts so we never had long to wait for one. All in all we felt the hotel offered very good value for money especially for a room with such nice outside space. The only negative we experienced was having to wait too long to check out as a group was checking in early at the same time and we were worried about missing our train. It would be helpful if there was a separate queue for guests just wanting to check out.

We had a big doubleroom with a big balcony on 7:th floor. The view from there was stunning. The room was quiet, comfy and clean. Staff was helpfull and friendly, especially Monica who showed the table for breakfast. She was happy and friendly every singel morning. We (Gerd and Tom) miss her. Breakfast was very good and fresh. It was easy to go anywhere from the hotel, if you wanted to walk or take a bus or metro or hopp on hopp off bus. Buses and metro from Termini a 5 minutes walk from hotel. Very handy!!. A lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood. We had a great time but I must warn you from eating dinner nighttime at the hotel- restaurant, terrible food that is overpriced and I also got foodpoisened after eaten there. Sick for a whole night and the next day.

We stayed here for 5 nights in one of the Executive Rooms with balcony. Our room was on the 7th floor with a big balcony and view to the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. We were very satisfied with the room size and cleanliness. The only minor issue was a flat that was above us - not a hotel room. There was banging and other loud noises every evening, but luckily not early in the morning or in the night. The location is perfect, as the hotel is 5 minutes walk away from Termini station. Breakfast was also nice, but this system of queuing and being served by the waiters at the buffet is extremely inconvenient. What we also don't understand that hotels do require neither a negative test nor a proof of vaccination, but they let everybody dine together. This is very strange and probably wrong, but that's not the hotel's fault, if the government regulations allow this. We found the entire staff very friendly and helpful - especially Ana at Reception.

This hotel is just a few blocks from Termini Train/Metro Station. That made if convenient for me to complete all my sightseeing in Rome. The hotel looked to be newly renovated and my room was an oasis with wonderful air conditioning (during the heat and humidity of August). The breakfast was great and I had a great stay. If you are visiting Rome, I can strongly recommend this hotel to you. By the way, if you did not want to use the hotel restaurant, a number of nice and relatively inexpensive restaurants are located nearby.

A good location to explore Rome. The room was big, with an upstairs big bed and TV, the draw back for this was that there is only one bathroom downstairs. Downstairs, there was 2 single beds put together, but the mattresses kept moving and it is kind of dangerous of falling down, if you sit without looking. The bathroom was quite big. The internet connection was good. The breakfast was good, almost the same products every day. The staff was nice and helpful. Overall, a good experience.

One of the worst experience with a receptionist of an hotel. We book 5 rooms and we had 2 small babies under 3years old, no electricity on arrival (answer of the lady from receiption was ,,just want to inform you that other rom they have SO this is enough for you to know''), no coat for babies, one TV and one freezer was not working. Just wondering when they know that they will have check ins they don't check the rooms??? NOT recomendet

Nice hotel and good customer service. I made a mistake in my reservation, and Expedia was unable to fixed the issue, I was traveling with two kids and I was worried, but the front desk fixed it and helped me and my family to have a confortable stay.

Hotel is less than a couple of minutes from train station. Termini is a huge train station and can get confusing. Use exit piazza dei cinquecento. When you go upstairs if you see white taxi, bus and Italian flag you're at the right exit. Make sure to turn left on first road via Cavour but be on the right side. If you see hotel Genova turn right. I thought about staying closer to tourist attractions that require metro or taxi ride but so glad staying close to termini. One train ride to Airport and Florence. Bus ride to everywhere. Walking distance to many attractions. Supermarkets at station. Just like any other big cities there're all kinds of people at train station but nobody really bother you. Staff are very nice and room is small but clean and modern. They have converter for electronics if you're coming from the U.S. Wall is thin that's typical in Europe but I slept well. I don't know about 4 stars though. I have noticed 4 stars in Italy are different from other countries. The biggest let down was breakfast. They set up as buffets but can't get your own food. It was so inconvenient since you can't grab anything and have to wait in line to ask for one item. Their cappuccino was excellent. Also 2 waiters did amazing job, They were very fast and efficient they saved our frustration. Other than breakfast everything was great. Price was right too.

Hotel situated in good place. 5 min walking from Termini Station. Personnel is friendly and helpful. English is a bit poor, but understandable. ATM avaliable next to reception. Breakfast now is poor, from hot only scrambled egg and bacon. Ham, cheese and prosciutto available, as well as some bread and sweet, juices. Coffee will be made by weider. Cappuccino is very good. Romm was on 7th floor, small, smallest I saw. But big plus is terrace with table, chairs and lounger. Near was church and in the evening its lithing is beautiful. As well as every 15 mins bell tolls.

My wallet was stolen on our first day in Rome. The pick pocket physically pinned me against a luggage carrier in the train. To make the trauma worse, it was almost impossible to find a police station which gave a $#@! (we went to three before finding one which would even take a report). "Not my job," seems to be a theme. Too bad such a nice hotel is in such a dangerous area.

Very nice large suit with large balcony. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The staff was very serviceminded and helpful. We did not have the breakfast but found a nice place close by. Good location when arriving with the train. Will be back.

Really enjoyed my stay at this central hotel, close to Termini Station. Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful in these challenging times. Room was comfortable and cleaned daily. Breakfast was good and served to you in your seat rather than buffet due to Coronavirus, waiting on staff were excellent too. Would highly recommend staying here if you want a mid-priced hotel close to transport links and walk-able to the main sites!

So we had originally arranged a stay at a different hotel, when we arrived that hotel was boarded up with just a telephone number on the door. When we rang the number it put us through to this hotel who were amazing, they handled everything so efficiently and helped ease our distress. They honoured our booking (the other hotel wasn't a Best Western) and gave us 2 lovely rooms, no fuss at all. We were so very grateful and will definitely make this hotel our first choice when we return to Rome.

We stayed here for one night whilst transiting through Rome. Although the location is close to the station, and the entrance is clean, the room itself was very tiny and dark, despite paying for a larger room from their website. Bathroom was also in need of updating with scratched bathtub and scuff marks everywhere. Wouldn't come here again for the money.

Our family was scheduled to visit Rome at the end of June, 2020. We had three rooms reserved for 4 nights. Due to CODID 19 and the travel restrictions imposed by the country of Italy, we were not able to travel and make our reservation. I sent an email in late May informing the hotel that we were not going to be able to arrive due to the travel restrictions. Even though we had a non-cancellation reservation, I asked if they would issue a credit voucher for the amount of our deposit, for a future stay. I did not receive a response. I subsequently filed a claim with my credit card company. They informed me that Best Western Universo responded that it was a non-cancellation reservation but if I contacted them, they would be willing to issue a credit. I subsequently sent another email, referencing their response to my credit card company, asking if they would issue a credit for future travel. I still have not received a response. I am very disappointed that a hotel with the Best Western Brand would not be willing to offer a credit for future travel to customers that were not able to honor a reservation due to the unprecedented situation caused by the COVID19 travel restrictions.

I was scheduled to travel to Rome Italy this month but due to COVID-19, the European Union is not allowing US citizens entry into Italy for non essential travel. We booked this hotel at the beginning of the year before the pandemic hit. I have corresponded with the hotel to get a refund and they flat out refused stating their policy. You would think some common sense would come into play as I did not cancel but Italy is not letting me visit. Again the lack of common sense is mind boggling. Shame on the Best Western Hotel chain and I will be sure to tell everyone via social media how BW robs people during unprecedented times.

Ideally located just a ten minute walk away from the Colosseum, five minutes or so from the Termini and near to the interesting Monti neighbourhood. It was very clean, breakfast was good, the staff were helpful, friendly and professional and the service, when we requested extra pillows and sheets was prompt and efficient. Would certainly recommend and was excellent value for money.

We cancelled our trip back in March due to COVID but the hotel is charging us anyway because I cannot provide cancellation number. Were told there is no chance that the fault is with their computer system. Every other accomodation [flights, Airbnb] all provided refunds, but Best Western charged us for the night cancelled.

The hotel was extremely clean and modern, and a great location for the Colloseum and the Trevi Fountain and the train and bus station within a five minute walk which enabled us to visit the Vatican city and Venice as part of our trip. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. We had breakfast included and there was a good choice and variety of food, served in a relaxed environment. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed 3 nights on a business trip. The room was very small but sufficient. I did not try the restaurant for dinner but everything there is clean and tidy. The location is very good. Just next door you will find 3 restaurants on the street with very nice Italian food.

Clean rooms, beautiful view of the city, the staff is kind, polite and helpful. It's close to the train station and a few landmarks. It's a great establishment and would be the best choice for anyone traveling to Rome.

We stayed here as a birthday break and due to the then partial Lockdown, it was very quiet. Our room was upgraded which was a great bonus. We were given a room with a terrace overlooking the street with a partial view of the landscape. The bathroom was clean and spacious with great water pressure and heat. The bed was comfortable and an extra blanket was provided when requested. All staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.

Italy is shut down from the US. Flights in & out cancelled. Cruise lines cancelled. Trying to cancel this hotel 90 days in advance, and they will not accept cancellations. 1K lost!!!!!! Trying to work thru BW customer service and no luck. Privately owned hotel. I will never stay at a BW hotel again. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

We enjoyed our stay at the BW Plus Universo. Its centrally located. Marco, at the front desk was fabulous. Because of Coronavirus fears and shut downs, we had to cancel the 2part of our trip and extend our stay in Rome. Marco made it easy to extend our reservation. The waitstaff at the breakfast buffet were excellent. Only 9€ per person for a variety of selection. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel is in a great location, close to Termini and many little restaurants around to dine in. We'll stay again in BW Plus Universo on our next trip to Rome.

The hotel is clean and they now offer non-smoking rooms. The stay was delightful and the in house restaurant was excellent. The breakfast offered a wide selection of foods and the manager Fabrizio was fantastic. He is a hands on manager, and was always ensuring the food selection was topped up and presented well. Would definitely return to this hotel on subsequent visits to Rome.

We travelled as a family of 2 Adults & 2 Children. Most part of our trip to Europe we were all in 1 room, however at Rome we had booked a quad room with connecting doors, and this was amazing for all family members to have a bigger space. Both rooms were spacious, clean, and modern. Beds & pillows super comfortable, wifi works great. In the main room there was an amazing space to do your make up each morning with a mirror and lights, lighting needs to be a little brighter but great to have own area. Breakfast was only 9€ and quite a big selection, both of my fussy eaters enjoyed! The waitress was lovely and kind. Walking distance to everything - we chose to walk over the city as everything is walking distance and you get to see more, however HoHo bus stops are close, and walking distance to Terminal train station. I would 100% stay here again, and recommend this hotel to anyone! Also a mention to the staff in reception, who were very kind with check out! Great hotel, stay here!

Very disappointed in the customer service at this hotel. The reception, Luigi, had the most disgusting attitude. He was very rude and short-tempered. Would not recommend if you seeking basic customer service!

Just a short walk from the Termini and the Metro, in an area well served by a wide variety of pubs and restaurants, the Universo is staffed by as friendly and helpful a group of people as you could wish to meet. Our embarrassing complete lack of Italian was accepted with a smile and excellent English. The public areas and rooms were impeccable, clean, quiet and comfortable. We did not use the restaurant (other than for breakfast) or the bar - which seemed not to have draft beer. Breakfast offered an excellent continental range, but was less appetising for those looking for a fry-up, and tea was a bit haphazard.

Fabulous rooms, friendly staff and patient with our Italian despite their impeccable English. If you need to park it could be a challenge to find something on the street but the hotel should be able to help. Breakfast - something for everyone and delicious.

Hotel is well placed in the city with lots of good restaurants walking distance. Rooms are well equipped and big enough. Only issue I found was with the bed. Metro station is nearby and most sight seeing places can be visited walking.

This hotel is literally 5 minutes walking distance form the Termini, and 2 minutes from the Hop On Hop Off Bus point. The front desk allowed us early check in. We are a family with two teen boys traveling together and we were given rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean and quiet. A discount on the dinner at the restaurant was given to us. Breakfast was very good, lots of varieties and quite tasty. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel lives up to the Best Western Plus reputation. We were greeted and assisted by professional staff. They assisted with a early check-in and luggage storage on check-out. Great breakfast, well worth the €9.00 pp price tag. Clean, beautiful rooms, awesome facilities in the hotel. The best part - location! Everything is close by, and there are a number of major bus stations within walking distance. Very close to Termini Station. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit. Remember: you have to pay City Tax of €6 pp per night.

This hotel offers so many things.. let s stsrt with the position..it is in the city centre walkable distances to the main points of attraction in Rome. Staff is amazing, friendly, ready to offer you the best service. The room has a very good size, very comfy beds and spotlessy clean! Definitely worth a visit and worth every penny!

We stayed for 3 nights just before Christmas. The Universo is a brilliant budget hotel, Luigi, Frederica, Guiseppe and all the staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms are fine, nice balcony, powerful shower! fridge, minibar etc and even the use of a smartphone for calls and internet when out exploring the city. We didn't avail of breakfast but had burgers in the evening which were delicious, the bar prices are very reasonable at around 5 euro for a Peroni and a latte coffee (whatever that is lol ) Two minute walk to Termini station, maybe 15-20 min walk to the Collisio via Cavour with lots of shops/bars/coffee along the way. if you're thinking about booking the BW Universo for your Rome break my advice is just do it - you won't regret it!

What an amazing hotel situated in a very strategic location, which allows the traveler to easily access public transport which have direct routes to all central sites. Moreover, the room was spotless and ready before schedule. The staff is welcoming and professional. The breakfast is delicious and very enjoyable. Great value for money! Thanks for making our stay, a memorable one! Will definitely visit again!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel while visiting Rome and the Greek Islands on a cruise. We were impressed with the service as well as the quality of the food offered at breakfast. Our room was very nice and the cleanliness of the hotel in general was excellent. The staff were always smiling and ready to accommodate us. I am very satisfied with my stay at this hotel and I really enjoyed my visit of Rome.

I liked the hotel and at walkable distance from Roma termini station, Coloseum. The power point near my table not working and hence unable to use my kettle. Hence only 4 star on my review. I am vegetarian and able to manage with the bread, fruits juices and veg salad at breakfast. They also exclusively prepared veg pizza with brinjal and pasta soup.

First of,I was really disappointed with the hotel as the crib they provided for my 11th month old son doesn't have any mattress.I complained to the front desk and they do anything. Second,we can't sleep well at night,we could hear the water draining in the ceiling as well as the guest passing by in our room at night. Besides that, the restaurant service in the hotel was really amazing. If I could say to my friend I would not recommend this hotel to my friends and family who has kids.

Clean room with spacy bathroom, we reserve a triple room and there was an extra bed not a sofa like other hotels, a very good breakfast, good location near the metro, quiet neighborhood, excellent staff.

My partner booked this hotel for 3 nights as a pre Christmas trip. Everything was fantastic. We booked the suite with balcony and was very pleased with the comfort and cleanliness of the room. The city view we had from our 7th floor was great and we loved the background noise of the rome traffic. Free mini bar was also a a nice touch. On arrival we were welcomed very warmly by Luigi. he gave us a map and pointed out certain things to us. All staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We sat in the bar Lobby area in the early evening. Drinks were reasonably priced and free snacks provided. Hotel is in the perfect location for the station and most of the things you'd want to see are within walking distance. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Rooms were kept spotless by housekeeping as is the rest of the hotel. Definitely one of the friendliest hotels we have stayed in and we will definitely be back to stay next time we come back to Rome.

We booked this hotel for one night as we were traveling by train from Florence to Rome and then taking a cruise. Did not regret my choice. We booked two triple rooms as we were 6 traveling 2 couples/2 teens. They gave us two completely different room layout next to each other. Both rooms were very nice and modern. One room had 3 single beds and the other had a king bed and a sofa sleeper. Its located 2 blocks from train station very easy to walk and find. Lots of restaurants/shops/metro/etc around it. They have a breakfast buffet for 7 euros each which was good, but should be included in the price like other BW offers?... Would stay there again and recommend!!

We booked a suite for 3 and it was very comfortable in terms of space. Hotel is well located, near Termini station and lots of restaurants (including a Chinese restaurant) merely steps from the hotel.

Perfect hotel to stay if traveling by train. Walking distance with luggage. Great service and room. Stay for just one night but would have stay for whole trip. Good price. Would visit again. You can walk to all the main attractions easily in 20 mins or less.

I didn't have the chance to stay at this hotel due a misunderstanding concerned about rates. Had to cancel and along the whole the process i've had the help of a great, empathetic and kind people. That surprised me a mor, speacially when dealing with some sort of vendors who love to say “no” all day long. Not these guys, they are the best. They listen to you and will provide the best service you can get. Special thanks to Cindy Wanderley, who was amazingly proactive and a real listerner and hansa-on during this process. I stayed here with my parents and three sisters. We booked two adjoining rooms, one for our parents and one for my three siblings and I to share. We arrived quite late due to flight delays and when we arrived realised that they had given us two rooms that each sleep three. We asked to change this to one double room and one room sleeping four. They said they were unable to arrange this for us straight away, which was understandable, due to the time of our arrival. They switched our rooms first thing the following morning which was great. The hotel was in quite a good location and it was fairly easy to get to a lot of the main attractions in Rome. The breakfast wasn't amazing but was 7 euros for a buffet which isn't bad at all.

The hotel was very good in all respects. The rooms were clean, breakfast was good and staff very helpful. We made use of the hotel conference room Olga. The staff had prepared the room and technology according to our requests.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is served from 6:30am, which is great if you have an early start for sightseeing or a flight and there was a good choice. The reception staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Coffee, water and snacks were available in the lobby area all day, which was nice. The waitress in the bar and restaurant, whose name unfortunately we didn't get, went over and above her role to be helpful and friendly. One complaint, and it really bothered us, was that there was a conference being held in the hotel, which included an election and, every day, there were canvassers outside and in the lobby, they made the hotel look and feel unwelcoming for guests. We didn't complain but should have. Our room was on the second floor, right by the lift, but it certainly didn't cause us any problems. The location was great, close to the train station, but no noise or disruption, also lots of cafés and bars within walking distance. Buses to major attractions were also easily accessible. Would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel. Good value also.

This hotel is close to Roma Termini and Piazza della Reppublica, making it a short walk to most stops for busses and trains. It's also quite comfortable and nicely appointed. It was very warm in our room, and the fan would blow only hot air. Once it quieted down outside, we were able to open the window, but we had to close things up again early in the morning. The staff was professional and helpful, and made our stay enjoyable.

We had a 3 night stay at this hotel. Loved it. Location was great for the hop on hop off bus. It's near the train and bus terminus. Plenty of restaurants in the area. The hotel itself is very well run. Room was clean and had everything that we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Had breakfast everyday which cost 7.5 euros for everything. Yes everything. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay was incredible. It is located close to everywhere you want to go right down town. We were upgraded to a beautiful little room that had an upstairs! It over looked a little street with a bakery. We had an extremely long day of travel and slept so good in our room. The lounge was very relaxing. Very polite staff Excellent Stay! Highly Recommended

I found myself very well in this hotel, even though it is close to the train station I found it very well managed, clean and safe (often not obvious thing) Hearty and quality breakfast , friendly and professional staff, in short a nice experience. To recommend

Stayed here 1st November as I was in a body building competition. The room was lovely and spacious and loads of storage. Lovely bathroom and toiletries. I couldn't eat the breakfast for the first 2 mornings but they made me an ehh white omelette both mornings with no hassle. When i did have breakfast it was lovely!! We also had a lovely cocktail and snacks in the hotel bar on the night after the competition. Great location as you can walk to nearly all the things we wanted to see. Would definitely recommend this hotel and staff as they were great!

Nicer hotel, very well kept and clean. A pretty typical 4 star European hotel, average to smaller sized lobby, typical small European room size and typical breakfast buffet. No complaints as I was expecting that type of property. And too, it's Rome so you can walk everywhere! Excellent restaurants in the blocks near the property.

Couldn't fault anything about the hotel. Rooms were very well equipped & maintained. Brilliant breakfast. Location couldn't be better - just a few minutes walk from the man railway terminus which has an underground station and bus station so you can get just about anywhere easily by public transport. Also walkable to the centre (15-20 mins or so). Only downside was that the restaurants immediately around the hotel were pretty poor, poor service and food - they charge the same as the far better restaurants in the city centre, so you'd be better to eat in the centre where there's also a lot more choice.

The UNiverso is in a great location, walking distance to Colesium and surrounds, Spanish Steps, various churchs. Recently remodeled, clean and modern. The breakfast selections is extrodinary. The hostest was exceptional in assisting access for my wheelchair. Definately the place to stay. Will stay here my next trip to Rome

Great location, we were overall very pleased with our room. It was very large and modern with a large balcony overlooking the street. On the negative side, there was not a lot of storage and I was quite disappointed that there was no complimentary coffee or espresso machine in the room. However, we were happy with our stay and would stay there again.

We really enjoyed the location of the hotel. It was a close walk to the bus and train station, and had numerous restraints within a few blocks. We also really enjoyed the breakfast each morning. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent rooms! Near Termini and great restaurants! Greeted with warm reception and we were allowed to store baggage until room was available. Would definitely recommend to everyone!! Interesting fact: they have a cell phone available for use with internet, calls, and navigation. Didn't use but thought it was a nice touch! Beds are ver comfortable and bathroom nice!

Spent a few days in Rome prior to a cruise. We wanted to stay in an known flagship hotel to us. This Best Western was just ok. The room had ok amenities. We could not open our balcony shades or door due to construction being completed right outside our 4th floor room. Bummer! Then the shower drain drained into the entire bathroom making it a very slippery room to use. We did not spend that much time in the room so we did not want go through the hassle to change rooms. Loved the location. We walked everywhere and had numerous options for restaurants. We were not disappointed with the location of this hotel, especially if you want to explore on your own and feel safe.

Lovely room with huge private balcony that overlooked the top of cathedral which was lit at night. Great street seating restaurants on same street. Very very clean. Just the best of the best cperience

The hotel was great! Located within walking distance (with luggage) from the train station; they had cold water and pastries in the lobby every day and big complimentary breakfast every morning. The hotel is VERY clean all around. We were very happy with this hotel.

Within walking distance of Termini station if your cases arent too heavy-and a e10 taxi ride if they are- the Universo Best Western is an excellent hotel from which to base a few days in Rome. Check in is efficient and the rooms spacious with good facilities. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you with any problems. The breakfast selection is international and at e7.50 if not included in your rate is an absolute steal, with a wide selection of both hot and cold food. There is a small business centre with free internet access and overall this is a superb centre for travellers of all kinds.

This hotel is wonderful. The room was clean, comfortable and the largest we had on our multi-country European trip. We even had a balcony and enjoyed the view in the evenings. The location is perfect-we rode the subway, trains, and buses through Rome, and we always knew we could find our way home if we could get to Termini Station, which is 3 blocks from the hotel! Several attractions are also within walking distance. There are great sit-down restaurants and bakeries and pizza shops and mini marts all within steps of the hotel, even a McDonald's. Would love to return here one day, my only condition would be that I would bring my own washcloth and hair conditioner(which the hotel did not provide either), but this was just a tiny issue. Appreciated the American coffee and Italian pastries in the hotel lobby in the afternoon. Love this hotel!

I can't say anything bad . Was great experience from day one till the day we walked out . We stayed all week from Sunday to Saturday we had a reservation just for 3 days after we got in Rome we decided to stay all week and talked with Roberta she was the most amazing person who helped us to find Out an other room even when the hotel was completely booked. I just want to say thanks to all staff Marco , Roberta , Monica who works at the cafeteria she is amazing person gives you always welcome and makes feel like you are at home 5 stars to this hotel . Bravo Universo Hotel .

the location was very convient for our needs. The hotel was clean and comfortable. There is a vespa rental at the end of the block. we rented for a day and loved the experience. there is a small news stand across the street with very fair prices on drinks and a small selection of food. There is great restaurants and incredible gelato just up the street from the hotel and its about a 20 minute walk to many of the sites.

We stayed here two nights before a cruise and although the room is small by American standards it was fine and we had 3 large suit cases. The shower also small but it was fine. It is close to the Metro and within walking distance. It also has many resturants very close as well. The breakfast was also good and I would stay here again.

Hotel is located just a few blocks from the train terminal. From the hotel location we were able to walk EVERYWHERE and relied only on walking and did not miss a thing. Breakfast was $7.50 per day per person and was worth the cost. Pleanty of breakfast foods to choose from. The bed, pillows and towles were top notch in comfort! Lovely spacious room. Shops and restaurants on the same block and fast food(American chains) all within 2-3 blocks away. If I ever return to ome I will certainly choose Best Western Universo again. Perviously stayed at a different BW in the city and this one was my favorite based on location

Loved our recent stay at the Hotel.  Check-in was efficient. On arrival we were surprised to find we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room (with King Bed) which I would have loved, but unfortunately I was staying with my Son, so not practical. No Twin rooms available so we were given a Triple Room, which worked out well for us.  Check in was quick. We were on the 3rd floor.  Room was Clean, fairly spacious. Bathroom was a decent size and very clean. Beds were comfortable Breakfast was not included in our rate, but at a very reasonable cost of 7.50e we found the Breakfast to be of good quality. Typical continental with 2 or 3 hot items per day. Also had Pancakes - lovely!! Rooms cleaned daily and all staff we encountered were friendly & polite. All reception staff spoke good English.  BBC News and 1 other news channel in English.  WiFi worked very well.  Tea & Coffee in the room. Iron & Board were not in the room, but a simple call to reception and it was brought up within 5 mins. Had a look at the gym, seems OK, can be adequate for you to do a quick work out. The hotel has a free Business Centre, which you can use to access the Internet, unfortunately they were set to Italian language and they could not change to English & my IT skills were limited also. I wanted some Boarding Passes printed and they were happy to do this for me. As noted many times, the Hotel has access to a phone you can use whilst out and about in Rome. The hotel has a lovely little Terrace on the Top floor where you can bring your drinks and relax. The location of this hotel is amazing.  A few minutes walk to Termini where you can access other parts of Rome and further afield in Italy.  I stayed at another fabulous hotel the last time I stayed in Rome, but it was outslde of the city centre. Being more centrally located makes it easier to do all your sight seeing.  Asked for an extra hour extension on check out day and this was granted. The hotel has luggage storage facility also. I loved my stay in Rome, and knowing I could come back to a lovely room after a busy day was very welcoming. Now I realise the benefits of staying close to Termini, I would happily stay here again and recommend to others.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are modern and clean, excellent in fact. The breakfast is also superb and we would definitely stay here again, great location close to bus and metro station.

We have had a great stay here fab location near the termini Little noisy as we are close the the lift but all good and would highly recommend Breakfast is €7.50 They have room service which is reasonable as well and the best thing is this little phone device called Manet which is Amazing I wish I discovered it on the first day

Good location and good breakfast. Room was a tad small with little to no storage for suitcases. Elevator extremely slow. Far from modern but great location nearby to many restuarants shops and sites. The bed head had a wall feature that i smashed my head on every time I laid down.

This hotel is in walking distance of the train station. The bed was super comfortable. There's a smart phone in the room that you are able to use during your stay. You do have to put the room card in a slot in order to keep the lights on, I found this odd and they didn't tell us when we checked in so I felt stupid when I went back to the desk and said the lights wouldn't work but it makes sense for energy conservation.

We had room 316. Room itself was run down with marks on walls and bathroom had this very odd smell. Shower door was very fiddly to use. Room itself didn't feel clean. Lots of noise from the corridors at night as there were a large group of young kids at the hotel. At breakfast it was very noisy and food was poor. Location itself was good, walking distance to main attractions and train station around the corner.

We loved everything about this hotel! This was our first time in Rome and this was a great place to stay for a first visit--staff was great, location was very convenient, room was nice, and best of all, they provide a free phone with data to use for GPS navigation, etc! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Rome.

Great overall stay...location was perfect, close to Piazza Repubblica which is gorgeous and to the Termini station so its very easy to get around. You can also walk to main tourist destinations (very safe and lively all day). Breakfast was impressive, staff was great and rooms were very clean. Couldn't ask for a better stay!

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night prior to leaving Rome to commence a Mediterranean cruise. We caught the train from the airport to Termini station which was easy to do. The hotel is only 450 metres from Termini - easy walking distance. We arrived early but we were able to get a room straight away. The staff were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The 7.50 euro breakfast was more than adequate with a good choice of options.

We were in Italy for two weeks and all four of our hotels were great, but The Hotel Universo was absolutely the best! Breakfast was amazing and convenient access to all the sites. Would recommend highly!

The hotel is very close the rail station Termini and easy to visit the main atractions in Rome. The rooms are nice, clean and everything was perfec during our stay. I would like to say that Marco, from reception is the best person in the hotel. He helped us with everything, very profissional and nice person. I really have to thank him. On the other hand there was a woman, called Ana, that was not interested in help, but was very rude when I asked for help with Uber and ask to call a taxi. But I really recomend the hotel because the location, rooms and Marco.

It is located a few blocks from Termini Station which is a big plus for getting in and out of town and for transportation in Rome I was greeted with a very friendly and helpful staff. They not only checked me in 2 hours early she got me the last ticket for the Borghese Galleries without any additional charges as some hotels do. Never over charged anything. Helpful about getting transportation around town. The room itself was modern comfortable and pleasure to stay in. The dining room was fresh and people friendly that served you. The hotel also gives guests 20%off coupons for the dinners which helps. The breakfast buffet was also very nice with lots of variety choices for every taste. I had breakfast and dinner both 2 times and happy with both of them. It doesn't hurt to join the best Western club for extra Perks here

Great location near the train station and great restaurants and the Trevi fountain. Well furnished, clean lovely rooms. We even had robes:) The personel was excellent and made sure we two gals were happy and safe.

Rome Holiday with my wife, we loved the great service of staff who were very help in making our trip memberable. We especially appreciated that staff were able to speak English they helped with transport, directions and always smiled.

We highly recommend staying at this hotel . It was in a great location , close to some tourist spots as well as the metro and bus stations. We loved the free mobile phone to use while we were there enabling us to check out tourist spots, restaurants and even if needed make calls. The staff we dealt with were all very helpful and friendly. If we had to be picky the only complaint we would have is the walls are a little thin and you could hear the people in the room next to you.

Very nice hotel, the entrance was a bit difficult on a busy street but the interior was amazing! They were even willing to store our luggage until we returned for our reservation (we had 3 days train travel in between stays). We had 2 rooms and 1 couple in one and me and my husband and mother in law in the other room. My favorite part of this hotel were the bed....they were sooo comfortable! Also liked that in our room there was a single bed for Mom in Law and it was a perfect use of space. A little crowded with our big luggage but still doable. Almost wish we had stayed there longer. Breakfast was great and plentiful. No GF bread options and the eggs were a little greasy but otherwise really good. The shower was a little odd as it had like a wood plank floor that began to float in the middle of the shower and shift (made me a little uneasy but again nothing major). I will say I was relieved when we checked in that the staff was friendlier than the first night when we dropped off luggage. The gentlemen at the counter that night we brought luggage were rude and treated us as though we were a waste of time. Thankfully, the day we checked in they were different people and completely fabulous. Every room came equipped with usb to plug in our devices and hairdryer. Also had one of those smartphones for use during your stay however we did not utilize it.

Old building with modern room furnishings conveniently located near trains. Room has "modern" decorations with fancy bathroom and lots of USB charging ports. However, lights go out if you remove card from the door, and we were only issued one card for two people, an oversight given lighting issue. This was a single, short, night during travel through the city so we didn't pursue correction. Would not consider this facility a good value. Only breakfast option is a huge buffet. While extensive and well stocked, I'd have preferred a less pretentious and less expensive option. Not a bad place but not exciting, either. Best Western affiliation was an attraction for a place to land for the night while traveling thru city.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Rome Termini which was perfect for easy train travel between Italian cities and the airport. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and the airconditioning worked VERY well keeping the room at a good 65 degrees F, which is important during the hot italian summers! Our room was near the elevator which made it a little noisy but nothing terrible. Our room came with a Manet cell phone which we could use for free (it was actually free!). We used it mostly for Google Maps. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable place to stay while in Rome!

I thought this hotel was very nice. We had to book 2 rooms as we had 5 but the rooms adjoined and were good size. I was initially worried about the location but we were able to walk almost everywhere. We took a cab to the Vatican. We are a walking family though. It is very close to the main train station but we never used it. We also found many decent restaurants very close to the hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is in a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful, organising our airport transfer too. The location is the best thing about this hotel with some good restaurants nearby and it being just a short walk from the hop on hop off stop and sites like the Trevi Fountain. Breakfast at the hotel was well priced and very good, we also ate at the hotel one evening and were very impressed with this too. A few things we noticed however, we stayed on the first floor right above the main entrance, the room was good but it was noisy at night time being so close to the lift and main road. It did not massively effect the quality of our stay. The hotel was generally very clean, however over our three night stay we noticed on two of these nights a reasonable number of ants around our bathroom. Overall, a good stay and a great location for a reasonable price.

We were travelling in a tour group and this was our hotel. It is a very modern hotel it is a Best Western. The room could use a second luggage rack because one bag was on the floor. It used liquid soap and it had an old fashion bidet

Spent 4 days in Rome and this was a great hotel to stay at. Close to many attractions. The room was very clean and quiet large washroom very bright and clean. The breakfast which was included was great lots to chose from and fresh coffee. We are fro Canada and my husband left his hearing aids in the room. They were return to management and arrangement were made to mail them home. This was greatly appreciated.

If you are looking for caring and guest oriented service for yourself during a trip, Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is the place for you. Plus, it is close to the Termini and therefore commuting to/from other cities, getting a hop on/ hop off tour as well as a trip to the Outlet Mall is super convenient. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast spread is quite delightful too.

Every year we bring a large group of students to Hotel Universo and have a wonderful experience!! The team in the groups department is great to work with, and the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel Universo is in the perfect location, nearby the Roma Termini train station, and convenient for the main attractions in Rome. The breakfast has a nice variety and the rooms and common areas are kept very clean. We don't look anywhere else when planning our stay in Rome! Hotel Universo is the best! :)

My son and I stayed in this hotel from July 9 through July 12. Our room was nice, comfortable, spacious, and clean. All staff we came in contact with - were very helpful and professional. We especially enjoyed the free breakfast. Excellent location- a five minute walk from the train station. Will definitely be our home away from home the next time we come to Rome.

When visiting Rome, this hotel should be where you stay. We have stayed here 3 times now and always have the best experience! Great for families or for couples. It's minutes walk to train station, hop on hop off stop and a short distance to many archaeological sites. Several wonderful restaurants right on the same street. Rooms are modern and spacious. This is an ok 3 star hotell, good value and good location for a 3star hotel. Im not sure why they call themself 4star hotel. But since they do, I will rate them accordingly compared to other 4star hotels and theese are the things I would like to point out: *Poor sound isolation, could hear neighbours moving their chair and opening closing doors. *worn bed sheets and covers, the elastic didnt even hold the beedsheet in place. *worn hotel could see mark and scuffs on both interior and walls *Interior looks like the hotel is made from many buildings you have to go up and down a bit inside the hotel on each floor. *Indoor garden view showed an building site, with alot of tools and material laying around. *Improper cleaning, could see other guests hair on towel and bedsheet. *Electric outlet dont make sense, they have button that you cant push and between them is the real switch. *AC temperature control was offset *Lamp over bed made ticking noise for some time after turning it off, probably due to hot metal cooling. *Slow elevator *Slow tv *Small rooms *Wifi annoyingly slow, I turned it off and used my 4G. As a 3star hotel and the at that competetive price I wouldnt even care about all the above mentioned things, since this is what I would expect from a 3star hotel. But from a 4star hotel I have higher expectation. No upgrade as matched Diamond, you dont even get free water. Last time I book with Best Western, I think they are ok as 3star hotel but Im gonna stick to my other large hotel chains HH and SPG. Dont get me wrong, if your looking for a 3star hotel with great value and in great location I think this is a good hotel. But if your looking for 4star hotel, I keep looking elsewhere.

This is by far the nicest hotel I've checked in at rome Italy. The staffs were so friendly. We had the Junior suite and I must say, its simply amazing. The room is really really nice. Very clean. The bathroom/toilet is really big though my kids loves baththub which they dont have but its fine. The AC was very cool. We didnt need to open the balcony coz its was a bit noisy outside. Beds are so comfy. the location is really near the termini. I would definitely check in again to this hotel when I visit rome someday. The only negative I can say is that I think the rooms are not noise proof. Like if I go outside our room I can hear my kids talking and I can even hear the sound coming from the television.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Universo for a few days prior to a cruise that departed out of Rome. This hotel far exceeded our expectations. It's location made it perfect to get around, be it from the airport, to the port, or just in and around Rome. We felt safe and comfortable walking around the hotel for casual exploring, but we also appreciated the massive Termini Station being so close too. The room was safe and clean and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. We also greatly appreciated the free WiFi so that we could check in with family back in the States. We would highly, highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rome!

My wife and I stayed here as part of a Delta Vacations package and we were not disappointed! We opted for the superior room with a terrace which we really enjoyed for relaxing outdoors after exploring Rome with some wine or beer. The room was quiet and clean, had a very comfortable bed, a nice bathroom, refrigerator / minibar and coffeemaker. We have to give a shout out to Marco who was extremely helpful and we hope to see him again this year as we are returning to Best Western Plus Universo on another vacation package to Italy over Thanksgiving!

Stayed at the Hotel Universo with a group I organized in April and everyone lioved it. Ideal location for getting around Rome and traveling from the main train station. Service was amazing and the accommodations were quite comfortable. Took a family vacation in Italy last week and made sure we returned to the Universo. Enjoyed by all!!

On our way to Cinque Terre, decided to have a one night stay over in Rome and decided on BW given it's close proximity to the Roma Termini. Hotel rooms were a bit tired and does require an upgrade. In terms of location, it is in walking distance to major attractions such as the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, and 200m away from the Roma Termini in case you wish to travel onwards. Breakfast buffet was limited, but they do cater for celiacs (my wife) and provided some gluten free bread and prepared an omelette for her. Plus point. Best part was Marco, the hotel receptionist. Extremely helpful and always with a smile. Overall a good short layover hotel. Would definitely stay again given similar circumstances.

Having stayed at many Best Westerns recently,and especially during this recent trip to Europe, we were less than impressed with this hotel. It is well located near the central terminal, and with so many hotels in the area you think they would try a bit harder, but there are so many tourists in Rome i guess they don't need to. Our arrival check was tiresome,and had to wait a while only one person checking in, although there were plenty staff. the hotel was noisy due to so many American tour groups, and they meet in the lobby and all try to out yell and out talk each other. The lobby was nice and cool, as there was a heat wave and the weather was very hot the whole time we were there. mid 30's in day, and mid/high 20's at night. first BIG issue, the AC did not work well at all. After numerous complaints we discovered the AC was centrally controlled by the computer system, and the kept the system below standard ( as per their "policy" ) and it even was turned off during the night making sleeping impossible. After more complaints and 2 days of this they finally fixed the settings back to a normal acceptable cooling. there were other guests making the same complaints, not just us. Totally unacceptable behaviour from a hotel like this.

I stayed here for two nights after a cruise. Great hotel, well run, clean and neat. Nice decor, helpful staff. This is a 'tourist' hotel so you will see groups arriving. My room was clean and comfortable. Hotel is in a central location, near the Termini bus/metro hub. Lots of restaurants choices nearby.

The location was central/close to subway.The hotel is clean and the buffet breakfast for 5 euros was well worth it. Lots of great restaurants near by and 10 min subway to the Vatican. Very honest staff...someone in our group put her purse on the floor when she opened the hotel door and the security staff found it and returned it. It contained credit cards and euros. We were extremely thankful!!!

2nd time I've stayed at this hotel, love it due to the location. During check in we were greeted by friendly staff, it's was quick and efficient. Rooms vary, ours was adequate, large enough for 2 adults, some can be on a smallish scale, however this is quite the norm in Europe. We were told that breakfast was included, however when we checked out they told us it wasn't. My fault, I should have checked my booking. The rooms are clean and the facilities are excellent. For those that like good showers with water pressure, this was the best!! Only a short walk to the main Rome termini makes it really convenient. I love Rome and. I like this hotel, and I'll definitely stay here again.

For the price a great stay. Loved our view from our balcony. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Will definitely recommend this hotel. Great location too! During the heatwave the aircon saved our lives!

The staff was very nice and very helpful. The hotel and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There are a number of restaurants with alfresco dining in the area. There is also a gelato shop not too far away that has approximately 20 different flavors; some are more unique flavors like the cheese & pepper and wine! They were fantastic! We would definitely stay here again if we return to Roma.

This was our first time using this Hotel. We were not disappointed. Easy & welcome check in . (English) Clean , comfortable, spacious room. Added bonus of balcony. Staff at breakfast very welcoming, service with a smile, breakfast was delicious . Also loved the tiles in bathroom.... Would recommend & stay again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in Rome a few times. It is very close to the Termini Train Station and close to historic sites. The hotel is fantastic. The breakfast is delicious and the front staff are very helpful.

We stayed in a King room early June 2019 for 6 nights. The room and bathroom are spacious. Housekeeping is doing a good job to keep the place clean and refreshing supplies for tea and coffee daily. The hotel is close to the Termini we were able to walk to the hotel after disembarked from the airport bus with our luggage in about 10 minutes. Most of the days we were able to walk to most of the Rome attractions in under 20 minutes or we just walk to the Metro to take the subway. This hotel really made our visit to Rome complete.

A really smart hotel with fantastic facilities (spa, gym etc). Breakfast for €7.50pp is a real treat and you an ask for all types of coffee/fruit juices which will be freshly made. All staff extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Only 7mins walk from Termini Station with easy access to both FCO and CIA airports. Would highly recommend and would certainly use again next time in Rome.

Excellent hotel. Great location in Rome. We really just needed a place to stay before leaving early the next morning for the airport. Friendly staff. Beautiful, clean room and nice coffee maker that had perfect coffee - which was instant - but surprisingly good. I would love to know why hotels in Italy do not provide wash cloths. We actually brought our own since we have experienced this in the past. We could have had breakfast, but it started after our departure. Our only complaint is that we asked at check in for a "taxi" in the morning at 6:30 am. We were ready to go by 6am so asked for a taxi then. The person at reception said, well then who will pay for your ride at 6:30? We thought it odd as we only needed a taxi. He contacted our ride who did come around 6:10 and it was a shuttle driver. We were forced - yes forced to sit in the 3rd row which is very uncomfortable and hot. He was picking up a family at another hotel. The cost was 48 euros. We gave him 50 which he also insisted on at the start of ride. I would have never paid him even a 2 euro tip if I had known we were going to have to pick up someone else. It was like riding in a tank, bumpy ride and we had to keep asking for a/c to be turned on. I feel this is a scam at the Best Western with the shuttle drivers. We asked for a taxi. I would recommend if you need transportation, just stand outside and get a taxi. They come by every few minutes. Our experience with taxi drivers in Rome were much better than this shuttle driver. FYI - the cost is the same to airport 48 euros so that wasn't the issue. We did not want to share a ride and we certainly did not want to sit in a shuttle in the third row. I don't think the shuttle had any shocks it was a horrible ride. So Best Western, you would have received 5 stars if you had not deceived us with the ride to airport.

We have been here for 6 nights and found it just perfect for a home base to explore Rome and environs. We received a very friendly welcome in charming English and all queries across our stay have been answered helpfully. The room was extremely comfortable and even the staff who serviced our room were eager to be of help. The central locality is such an advantage and every aspect of accommodation is superb. This is the place to stay.

We chose to stay here on our return to Rome knowing we had an early flight the next day. We were not disappointed. Hotel room is modern and decent size as is the bed. Bathroom is good a size. Room has a cell phone that you can use to make local calls, google maps etc. Nice perk. Hotel is about 2 blocks from Termini. No need for a cab to get there.

Stayed here 2 nights. We had the 2 room family suite, it's 2 rooms, each with it's own entrance. The 2 doors are in a foyer, behind a locked door. The rooms are not connected to eachother. It is located within walking distance of many sights. Otherwise the main train staion is less than 5 minutes away. Breakfast in the morning was a nice buffet, which is included if you're a diamond member, otherwise there's a cost. Probably still worth it. As always stay aware of surroundings, while having lunch just down the street. We saw a lady have her handbag stolen from a guy riding a scooter. Don't let your guard down for a second in Rome!! Be sure to bring adapters for US electronics.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in June 2019. Location - about 5 minutes walk from Termini train station and metro station. Easy to find. Large sign. Room - small, standard, functional. Bathroom was fine. Front desk - appeared to be open all night. Breakfast - can buy on the day. Looked good even though we did not have it. Hot dishes (sausages, eggs) plus continental. Elevator - small but available. Overall, I was very happy with this hotel and would have stayed longer but they were full. Good value for money. Perfect for a few days in Rome. Would definitely stay there again without question.

Hotel Universo is about a 10 minute walk from Termini train station. We arrived by train and though about simply walking - if you have more than one suitcase, don't - take a cab. The sidewalks and pavement are very uneven. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the room furnishings are quite good. Our two-level room had the bed, tv and mini bar upstairs with the bath, closet and sitting are below. We also had a balcony with a great view up and down the street. Rooms on higher floors undoubtedly have a better view of the city. The hotel is within walking distance of many excellent restaurants and attractions, including Santa Maria Maggiore. If you book a Hop-on-Hop-off bus tour, there is a pick up spot about two blocks away. The restaurant has a good menu and the bar was open late. The breakfast buffet and well done and constantly stocked. The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here the next time we come to Rome. There is train service from Termini to Leonardo da Vinci airport on the other side of the city. We chose, instead, to have the hotel book us a fixed rate cab to the airport (about a 45 minute drive)

Very nice hotel with a great location. Staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast buffet was well maintained. The only negative comment I have is that the rooms aren't very soundproof at all! We were located right next to an elevator (such is life with hotel stays sometimes), however, we had some super loud folks staying in the room next to ours the first night of our stay. The other two nights were decent - just the elevator noise.

Best Western Plus Universo far exceeded my expectations! The location is wonderful, the staff is extremely helpful and polite and it's a beautiful, clean property. Highly recommended when traveling to Rome!

This hotel is ideally situated for visiting the many sights of Rome. Rooms are comfortable, service is very good, and there is a good choice of food for breakfast, though the hot breakfast is at best lukewarm, due to the fact the chaffing dishes are left open. Be prepared for the local tourist tax payable to the hotel on departure, currently 6euros per night per person.

a very nice hotel!at the beginning we felt disappointed because of the line at check in. There was just an employee at front desk on arrival and we thought we would never be able to get our room. But the guy who welcomed us, Cristiano, is a spearhead. He promptly reassured us and made feel at home from the start. He managed the check in procedure well and quickly, treating all guests in a polite and friendly manner. In about ten minutes we were assigned a confortable and quiet room on the third floor and were ready to take a rest. The day after we also had an excellent breakfast at a reasonable price. We could realize the hotel is in a very central position so that most interesting places are at walking distance. the area nearby is full with shops and restaurants, for sure you won't starve in Rome... We just spent three days but are looking forward to come back soon to Best Western hotel Universo!

We spent two nights here at the end of May and were very happy with our stay. Nice, clean, large room. Nice, clean, large bathroom. We arrived early and our room was ready for us which was a bonus. Great location to many restaurants and the main train terminal. Only problem was in checking out (no doubt due to language) where they kept saying we had two days of room service for breakfast (didn't eat breakfast either day). Ends up they had to show me the bill before I was able to point out it was for the wrong room. I would recommend the hotel and stay there again.

Both I and my colleague experienced a very pleasant and efficient staff both at reception, breakfast room and cleaning of the room. We chose this hotel based on its proximity to some of the best restaurants in the city as well as the main train station (for transfer to the airport). The rooms have everything you might need and more, the mattresses are divine and you really don't want to leave the bed in the morning! There is a menu for pillows too. The breakfast is varied and I am sure it will please even the more discerning travellers. Having stayed in other hotels on previous visits to Rome, I have to say this is my favourite so far. Thank you everyone for being so nice to us all especially the guys at the reception!

This hotel had one of the best breakfast ever. Everything from warm milk for your coffee, fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon to fresh fruit and yogart. Service was second to none and rooms well appointed and supplied with many extras. Hair dryer better than most and location put you in walking distant to many sights, shops, restaurants and Gelato. Start friendly and went the extra mile.

I recently stayed at Best Western Universo for 5 nights in April 2019. I loved this hotel it is within 5 minute walk to Termini Station, easy walking with your suitcase. The rooms are modern and clean and I love the cellphone provided in the room for you to use around the city to find attractions, places to eat etc. The dining room food was medioker at best we ate there one night because we have a coupon, was not long before we regretted that as we could have eaten somewhere closer and received much better quality.

We stayed in the Best Western as a pit stop before leaving Italy. All we needed was a hotel close to Termini to make getting into Rome late at night and then getting to the airport the next morning easy. It exactly did the job. The staff were lovely and while there are definitely more affordable places to stay in Rome, it was nice having a standard hotel experience in the city at a decent price. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was hot with a lot of pressure. It did flood the bathroom but we laid down towels and called it a day.

Great start to our long stay in Rome! Great location, clean and comfortable! Staff were super friendly! And the breakfast was fabulous! Lots and lots of choices, hot, cold, fruit, cakes, juices, etc. They will even make you special coffees if you ask! Very friendly service and nice breakfast room. Wish we could've stayed longer!

Make sure you have euro when in Europe. There was no places that took US money, but most places used credit card. The restaurant do stay open late due to Europe's eat later than most US people do. But my stay in Rome was amazing.

Im from Pakistan and Muslim. Came to Rome on official trip for a month during Ramadan. Hotel took great care of us. Specially Chef Mr. Patrick and waitress Ms. Carmen, he cooked really good food for us and served us everyday with desi touched Italian Food. Loved the restaurant service! 5 stars

My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Universo three times over the past two years. The front desk personnel are welcoming; the hotel has many rooms with king beds; it is very quiet for such a central location; the breakfast offerings and servers are first-rate; and the hotel is terrifically convenient to the central train station. I have already recommended Hotel Universo to one friend traveling to Rome, and will recommend it to more.

Hotel accommodations were very clean, staff was friendly, and hotel was located in a great central location that made site seeing super easy since it was right down the road from the main metro and train station. Front desk staff was friendly but not very useful in booking tours or giving opinions about food or ideas to do. The cleaning staff was fantastic, our room was sparkling and we always had ample supplies. The breakfast was ok, kind of let go and empty if you come towards the end and in my opinion overpriced for families. We bought the room that included breakfast via Expedia but upon arriving at the hotel they said we hadn't prepaid for the breakfasts. Regardless of us showing them our Expedia receipt we were charged again at check out in which we didn't have time to argue since we had to catch a flight. The hotel building itself was quiet, had elevators, a gym, and nice air conditioned rooms. They should offer free hotel to airport transportation to be more competitive but they do not. Overall, happy with our experience and would book there again.

The beds were comfortable, I'll give them that but honestly, here you're just a number. There's no special “hello or have a great day”. When I left there wasn't a goodbye. Despite the comfy beds, the walls are paper thin and the people next door to me had their phone buzzing all night!!! I slept awfully. Not ok! I tried to order room service through the phone they give you but it didn't work. So I had to dial. He said he'd check my order but after 15 mins he didn't call back! There's a lack of choice on the room service menu and only pizza is the main Italian dish. No pasta dishes at all. Not good! For what I got I found it very expensive and not that enjoyable. It's far away from everything except the bus terminal, train terminal and metro. It's about 25 minutes walk to get to anywhere! (Trevi, Spanish Steps etc). If you are here though, go to the Operart restaurant about 5 minutes away for a delicious dinner. Also the Carrefour express is 5 minutes walk away and the breakfast here will be MUCH cheaper!! The lady at the desk was pleasant but I just found it very busy and too loud at night.

The staff here were attentive to our needs as first time visitors to Rome, immediately providing us with a map of major (and some not so major) attractions, highlighting good shopping areas and areas with some great restaurants. The location of the hotel itself was also great, very close to a bus/train terminal for public transport as well as sightseeing tour pick up and drop off points. The room as clean and very spacious, with possibly the fanciest hotel bathroom I have ever seen. The staff as well were always smiling and attentive, even though we seemed to hit them at a busy time, and were willing to go above and beyond on a couple of occasions so lots of kudos there.

My wife and I checked in to a suite here as part of our honeymoon. Upon arrival, we were made to feel at home and part of the family with the friendly staff at the hotel. The room was amazing. It was quiet, spacious, very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, close enough to the main attractions to walk but far away enough to avoid the city tourist crowds. It is a short five minute walk to Roma termini. Thanks best western, we will be back!!

Having worked in the hotel industry and also stayed at many different 4 and 5 stars hotel around the world. I am absolutely disappointed with this hotel. Don't get me wrong, the location is great! However... 1) didn't feel very welcome from the reception staff upon checking in. They did not offer any maps, nor introduce the hotel facilities etc. It seemed like they were rushing to finish up the check in process and continue with their own work or chatting. 2) we got into our room and we were preparing for a shower after a 30 hours journey from Australia. We noticed someone outside trying to open our room's door. I decided to open up and find out why, it was another guests that has just checked in and they were assigned to the same room and their room key actually works to unlock our room door. Luckily we locked it from inside, otherwise it would be embarrassing having strangers watching you naked. This is such a terrible mistake from the front office staff. It should and must not happen at all. 3) room cleanliness? Nope. I can see dust, hairs etc around the corners and even a used food stick that was not picked up probably by the housekeeping staff. Think twice before you book this hotel, many other options available that is worth for your money.

Highly recommended hotel. Staff, customer service, facilities, food, location all fantastic. Nothing was too much bother for the staff and all requests were dealt with in a courteous and efficient manner. We were supply with a mobile phone to use freely during our stay, this included national and international calls, internet, gps, audio guides etc. The hotel is in a great location for all the sightseeing attractions, restaurants, bars and shops and just a 5 minute walk from the Termini train station

The hotel is very close to the Rome termini station.. we stayed in a superior room.. the room had two bathrooms and good quality free toiletries.. it had a very good view as well.. the reception staffs were very friendly.. the hotel location is very close to all the main attractions in Rome..

The Roma Termini (central rail / metro station) can be a great area to stay in... as it offers BOTH the ease of access to all travels by train and metro...AND reasonable walking distance to all sites. We ended our trip here when returning to Rome and were glad we did. The whole area is filled with hotels... and as such...I cannot compare the value of each. I can note that the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is among the truly shortest walks... barely 5 minutes...and inside it is one of the largest and most developed with amentites like a gym and restaurant. The size may not serve those who want "quaint"...but it served us well for a final night of rest and walking to Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and shopping...before the easy direct airport train from the nearby train terminal to the airport. Perfect for a first or last hotel from or to the airport. Instead of using the 40 Euro taxi cost... just 14 Euro each to take the train in or out of the airport. The breakfast is the most elaborate of any stay we had. We splurged on a terrace room (7th floor)...and were glad we did. However...I would note that they have created a group of rooftop tables on the final floor above that are available to any guests to enjoy. So if you want a lace to enjoy the view... get any room and be sure to enjoy a visit to the top floor. The room was really nicely developed... bathroom spacious and impressively newly remodeled in every way. My wife and I rarely notice a beds comfort issues...but did note that there was an obvious split in the middle (like two twins had been pushed together) and possible covering in memory foam...which was a little less than ideal to sleep on.

I would highly recommend this hotel when visiting Rome. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was a good selection for breakfast. It is ideally located for discovering all Rome has to offer and is within walking distance of all the attractions. I can't wait to visit again!

I really enjoyed our stay at this top notch hotel. It was centrally located to all types of transportation including airport transfer, city and subway as well as trains for one day tours to Naples or Venice. Hop on hop off buses, and various tours. Walkable to attractions such as the national Rome museum, churches and colosseum. Numerous varieties of dining available from McDonald's to gourmet restaurants. The hotel itself was comfortable, especially lived the rainhead shower, mini fridge and the China expresso set in the room. The staff from check in to check out was friendly, helpful and professional. A shout out to the breakfast buffet and bar staff who made you feel so welcoming. A lovely hotel with many amenities. Thank you for sharing your city with us. We will definitely stay with you again and highly recommend for anyone.

Fabulous hotel, fabulous staff, fabulous location. I would highly recommend this centrally located hotel. Right by the train station and central to all attractions. We will be visiting again next year and have already booked the Universo for our return stay. See you next year!!

Here now and I could not be more please about my selection of this beautiful Hotel. Everyone is so helpful and very attentive to any needs or questions you have. This hotel's proximity to Roma termini is so covenient to every where you want to go.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on business. I got the train from the airport and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the central train station. Check-in staff were lovely and gave a great first impression. My room was lovely but might have been slightly cramped if 2 people were staying in there. The bed was comfy and the shower was good. I appreciated the kettle in the room with breakfast tea as this is rare in Italy. The breakfast was average but there was enough selection and the staff were super friendly.

I am not sure how the taxi drivers worked out where the hotel is, but the hotel is in the right place for visiting the Vatican and Colosseum and walking to the Spanish Steps. Hotel staff were very helpful in providing directions and booking taxis. Less than three minutes wait for the taxi was excellent. Room upgrade was given to us, however the hotel is not spending too much on the rooms. Appliances failed to work and had to be replaced at our request. Two chairs and no table was interesting, but we coped. We also had meals in the hotel restaurant and this was an excellent choice. Meals for lunch and dinner were excellent and we received outstanding service from the restaurant staff. We were served with an Italian special coffee at one of our breakfasts in the hotel and we can confirm that it was one of the best we have had. Nice hotel and close to the train station and directions are always helpful when in Rome. Next time in Rome we would consider returning to this hotel.

Brilliant location. Get the Leonardo Express train from the airport, 14€ each way per person, arrive at termini station in 30 mins and then a 10 min walk to the hotel, very easy to find. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was on the 7th floor. It was cleaned every day. Fresh thick towels. Easy to get to all the attractions, we walked everywhere from the hotel using the free mobile that they have in the room. You can't get lost in Rome using this. The room was very hot but we had the window open all night, no air con at this time of year but we just slept under a sheet so it was fine. If I visited Rome again I would definitely stay here. We had room service which was quick, food ok. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Would recommend.

We had a brilliant stay in this hotel. The staff were all lovely particularly Anna on reception for whom nothing was too much trouble. It has a lot of nice restaurants near by and is positioned well for access to all the sites but be warned Rome streets are not in a grid formation so it's quite hard to find places ( although we came across loads of interesting sights along the way).

Only discovered aircon is turned off by management upon checking in to the room. Staff said heater is on during winter and no aircon for all rooms, was asked to turn off heater and open window if hot. It was 13 to 17 degrees mid-day = winter? I was perspiring and suffocating in the tiny room. Opening the window to discover no grills and window from next room is near enough to climb over. I couldn't sleep whole night in a warm room. They did move me to an aircon room the next day...no aircon for all rooms mentioned to me earlier was an excuse. The aircon in this room was loud and wasn't even cool but it was better than perspiring in the room. Front desk staff - 1 lady was nice and helpful whereas 1 was grumpy and not keen to help at all. I was asked by a junior staff to approach this grumpy lady on my query which she should have heard standing just next to us. I moved in front of her but she continued to look down behind the desk. The junior staff noticed and said something to her which she replied impatiently suggesting that she was busy with something. When she finally had the mood to look up at me, I asked about the transport options to airport. She said she's only aware of Leonardo Express train, which is excellent to know the extent of a front desk hotel staff's knowledge. I asked about airport bus which she told me to go to the termini to check myself. The famous complimentary mobile phone in the room for local use was having problem charging. Staff came to check and moved the cable a little which was charging but after he left it was not charging again. I gave up. Bath towels - upon applying body lotion after shower, lots of bits of cotton balls formed on my whole body. I got this before in other hotels and this is a sign of poorly maintained towels. Bed sheets and blanket is as hard as paper. No complimentary bottles of water, slipper, toothbrush. Was locked out a day before my actual checkout as their system showed different departure date. I've prepaid in full! They then started to question me and asked for my passport copy, etc. Can I not say this is full of nonsense? The only good point of near termini that many reviews said applies to many other hotels around so I don't see it as a plus point at all. Left for Florence and returned to Rome to stay at a different hotel which is only a block away. That was better priced, new, room is modern, clean and included nice breakfast!

We stayed at this hotel for the second time, and we will no doubt stay there when next in Rome! Near the train staton, walking distance to the main tourist attractions or if not, close to a metro. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is really good. We have a 5 year old daughter and she was made very welcome. Our room this time was perhaps slightly smaller than previously but was absolutely fine - more than fine! Clean, comfortable. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Location are great close to railroad station.where nice food court are located. Room are clean and nice size for Europe standard. Staffs are Frendly,also morning breakfast come with room. Close to shops for people like to shop.

5 mins from the train/bus station, ideally situated for all the attractions, the hotel was clean and the staff went out their way to make us feel welcome. Would not hesitate to return or recommend this hotel to anyone fantastic experience.

Me and my husband went to Rome to see the opera La Traviata, which only located 2 minutes from the hotel, hence the hotel's location is very convenient for us. It's about 10 minutes walking from Termini station. I would like to express my appreciation to the reception who was, not only helpful, but also thoughtful. We reached the hotel after midnight because our flight was delayed and apparently there's a difference between the room description on Agoda, and the actual infrastructure. Unlike the advertisement, the room that we booked apparently does not have a tub. After I show the description on Agoda, the receptionist immediately upgrade us to the family room which has a tub. I will definitely return.

A great location - walking distance from the station. Hotel staff very helpful. A buffet style breakfast with plenty of choice and excellent value. Small but comfortable bedrooms. Would stay here again!

Great location with access to many restaurants and bars. The checkin was easy room was nice but warm even after reducing the thermostat. Staff were very nice and breakfast had a lot of choice and tasty. Hotel bar was ok and prices were reasonable. We did have an issue with the lights not working in the room on the day we were leaving but after the room key card was replaced it was ok. All in all a nice place to stay.

Rooms was neat and clean We did not face any issues during our stay. For Indians,there are good Indian restaurants at walking distance from this hotel. Location is very close to termini and 15 mins walk and you are Fontana di Trevi to Vatican it's a 1 hour walk .check in was fast room was spacious clean . All we needed we had happy to have chosen this hotel again . I really recommend .taxi to campino airport is only 30 Euro booked at the reception .

Just back from 5 days in Rome and stayed at the Best Western Universo. We arrived around 10.30 and able to check in. Room was really clean and spacious, great idea that hotel put a free mobile phone in your room for your use during your stay both in the hotel and you can take outside with you, although we had our own phones with us but some people may not. Staff were friendly and helpful. We paid for a late check out as we wanted to keep our room until 5pm. Hotel organised a taxi back to airport. All in all really great stay and thoroughly recommend it.

Appreciated the upgrade as BW Diamond to a 7th floor room with a beautiful patio (Wonderful place to enjoy tea in the morning) and the free drink coupon. I have stayed multiple times at this hotel and am always happy with my stay. The staff is great particularly the Breakfast manager who also works dinner and drinks at night. Sorry I don't know his name. Also appreciate the business center and ability to print and work on a computer.

Room was clean, great, comfortable. Breakfast quite good, dinner not so much. I got the half board (two meals a day), skipped one dinner. Didn't eat a lot of it. You can spend less on better food walking around. I wrote the kitchen manager a letter. Other hotel I stayed at had much better food. It can be done.

Pleasant clean hotel. Nice staff, people behind the desk spoke English, Italian, and Japanese, just from what I saw. The bathroom was beautiful with a great shower. There was a kettle and a small fridge, but the fridge was full. There were a lot of tv channels on a fairly sized TV. My only issue was one morning there was very loud construction on the hotel outside our window which woke us up. I could also hear the person in the next room using the bathroom which was a bit unpleasant, and they could probably hear me watching the tv. I could also hear everything that happened in the hallway, so if you are sensitive to noise, bring earplugs.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights which cost around £250! It's about just under 10 minute walk from the main station Termini. Check-in was quick and our room was ready when we arrived at 12 so didn't have to wait. The room was nice and the bed is comfy. The city tax is I think €6 per night per person. Would defintly recommend staying here.

We had one night stay in Rome before departing the Italy. It was a very comfortable and well appointed Hotel. The check in staff were very quick, helpful and we even assisted us with booking a driver to get to the airport in the morning. We booked a family room (travelling as a family of 5), with two rooms adjoining each other. Both very spacious rooms. Fantastic location In Rome, walking distance from the Rome Train Terminal, and an easy walk to the Colosseum. We ended our day visiting the lounge downstairs and enjoyed an evening drink. Breakfast was lovely, with a great range of hot and cold buffet. It was a lovely stay in the hotel and would recommend it when staying in Rome.

Friendly and helpful staff offer many services in this well decorated full service centrally located Hotel. Its between the opera and the train station. The Maitre D Marco offers excellant meals and service, and great cappuccinos for a hotel. At reservations Emmanuela was very helpful and patient. They surprised as with their details: A cell phone complimentary to be used during your stay was available in each room. When we sent my son's shorts and t-shirt to be cleaned it was returned gift boxed and labeled. Impressive. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We will return.

Rooms are small but clean and nice. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Our room was right next to the elevator but we didn't hear it at all. Located within walking distance of several tourists attractions. Cons: We arrived what would be 2 days after Thanksgiving. It was still very warm out weather wise and the air conditioning wasn't working in our room. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone right up. After 30 minutes we went down to see some tourists spots and were told air conditioning was turned off in the entire hotel. No offer of a fan and we were told to open the window. Next, the have a disco on the top floor. Since we had the window open we could hear every bit of it including the drunk karaoke singer from our second floor room.

Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is a very nice hotel in Rome. The staff is so kind and helpful. The room is new and modern. The breakfast is so rich - there are many kinds of fruits and sweets, juices.

There are literally hundreds of hotel in Rome, so I chose this on the basis of the brand; Best Western and my group wanted a centrally located hotel for our overnight stay, before heading to board MSC Meraviglia at Civitavecchia. Hotel's reservation department; Anna, organised a city tour for my group. The professional driver and guide (Ernesto) filled the 4 hours with as many point of interest as possible, we even had time to enjoy an espresso at a typical neighbourhood cafe. A bespoke itinerary with our own minibus and guide is the best way to enjoy and gain a delightful taste of Rome in the 4 hours. The most important aspect of a hotel is the quality of service; of which I value the most. Quality service is always the main measure which differentiate one hotel from another. Thus the staff at Hotel Universo set a high standard.

My wife and I were there Sunday the 16th of December. We had a great time. We took the advantage of the Gym and the Turkish bath and enjoyed our time there. The room was elegant, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom had a shower and a bath tab. We spent time at the bar after dinner, the service was excellent and friendly. Very good value for the money we payed. Another good point is the morning breakfast well furnished and friendly. We will definitely Book again at this hotel for our next visit. This is the best trip that I have been joining, the staff at the Best Western plus Hotel Universo were very kind and helpful. We even booked a sightseeing trip with a guide that showed us around in Rome, he explained the different buildings and their history. We even got to see the senate building and the Colosseum.

Traveled on Business and stayed overnight. The check in was smooth and i was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room. It was very comfortable. Breakfast was average and could be more varied. Since the property is so centrally located, there are several excellent dining options around. Overall, good value.

Very quick check in. Rooms small but clean, nice bathroom. Breakfast additional 5eur but plenty of selection. Long cooridors to rooms. Location is great in central city and close to subway. Wifi in my room is poor->Depends on which room

I chose this hotel for its proximity to the Stazione Termini, and it was a decent place to stay for two nights. As an old hotel, I thought it would have some charm, but it doesn't. Everything works, the room was fairly spacious, the staff polite, but it all felt quite cold, like an airport hotel. Weirdly, although the room was a good size, there were very few spaces to sit anything, and the cupboard was small. The "hotel info" booklet in the room said there are newspapers available at the reception desk, but when I asked, I was instead offered the option of downloading an app to read newspapers (just in case we're not already spending enough time staring at our cellphones). I'd stay here again for a night or two, but not more than that.

The hotel is only around 7 minutes walk from Stazione Termini (Rome Train Station). Good breakfast, fair price, great internet connection, lots of local restaurants around and easy to get to all the historic places around Rome via the Metro station.

We arived after the initial hustle and bustle of the busy Roman airport to one of the best hotel stays I can remember. The hotel staff were polite and curtious. The view from the 8th floor fantastic, with views of the mountain range as well as some of the most amazing architecture ever seen. The room itself was well presented with every amenity needed. A complimentary mobile phone preprogramed with all sorts of packages and trips that can be taken. A beautiful bathroom as well as a balcony fitted with table and chair, and the odd sun lounger for those days you dare to stay indoors. The room was fitted with a very large bed that had enough room for me to wave at my partner at the other end. Room service was amazing with a wide variety of Italian quizeen as well as a little something if you are a home sick. The price is well below what you get. In the end my partner and I had one of the best holidays ever. Thank you very much Best Western for an amazing stay!

The room was spacious. Near to roma termini (5 minutes walk). The area is surrounded with Italian, halal, Asian restaurants and mini shops. The staffs were really helpful (grazie per l'ospitalità...).

I normally stay at other chains and decided to get my membership status matched with best Western and try them out (as a diamond select member). Sadly wasn't worth it at all, no upgrades and no real benefits at all - would actually say I wouldn't even bother trying the best wester chain at all from now on. Room wise, they are pretty small and only big enough for 1 person, you'll struggle to fit 2 people's suit case. The lifts here are also very small too. To be fair this place, is in great location, is clean and has a mobile phone to borrow. Overall though I am disappointed at the chain in general and I probably won't be staying at any best westerns from now on.

My husband and I booked a Twin Plus room direct with hotel for 3 nights. The hotel lobby area very presentable however avoid interior rooms on 1st floor. We stayed in 136. Basically didn't open curtains as view depressing. Window looked onto interior courtyard and totally overlooked by other rooms. There were one foot wide drainage pipes which ran below window level all around hotel building Ugh. Not the view expected or depicted by website. Very disappointing as it was our first time in Rome. I noted the hotel was fully booked so didn't ask to be moved as anticipated they would then allocate this room to other unsuspecting guests. There was also a nasty sewer like smell that lingered in the corridors. Beverage provisions also miserly. Breakfast disappointing. Only cooked provisions were stringy greasy bacon and sloppy omelette as well as tiny frankfurter sausages. No cooked tomatoes or mushrooms. No staff directs you to table sitting, very much free for all. Crockery ridiculously small, particularly cups! Out of the Ark. Need replacing with decent sized mugs. Also as a tea drinker very inconvenient I.e. Literally have to boil kettle for hot water and seek out scarce waiting staff to refill water level. Only positive aspects were good central location and powerful shower.

My partner and I travelled from Vancouver, BC to Italy in late October, 2018 and returned home on November 22/18. We stayed at various accommodations in Italy including the Best Western Universo in Rome. We had a 6-night stay here and were highly impressed with the hotel! What made our visit here exceptional was the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms, great breakfast and customer service. In particular, we'd like to mention Anna for sorting out our complex reservation as well as Lucas for being so friendly and accommodating. I helped arrange an professional conference in Rome where we expected 15-20 attendees. Finding a hotel in central Rome that could provide conference facilities is challenging but the BW plus was able to accommodate us. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the main terminal and in a very safe neighborhood. Staff was very helpful and rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel is large for a Rome hotel so it had a number of tour groups staying there. Good lodging if you are traveling with a larger group.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo for 4 nights with my wife and 3-year-old daughter. We were very happy with the hotel, in particular we appreciated the helpful and friendly staff. We were given a room facing the backyard, so it was very quiet and we had no problem sleeping. I didn't even have to use my earplugs, which I almost always use when traveling. The room was equipped with a double bed and a separate, single full-size bed for the child. For the three of us, with suitcases and a stroller, the room was perhaps a bit small but still large enough. Spacious bathroom, the 3-year-old loved the sparkling tiles. Excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price, we ate at the hotel every morning. Good selection of bread, cereal, ham, salami, cakes, etc. The hotel is conveniently located close to the train station, which makes it easy travelling from and to the airport by the express train. Also, it was nice to have several good and moderately priced restaurants in the neighborhood, as compared to the restaurants in the more touristic areas. At the same time, the hotel was not further away than that we could easily walk to all the sights we wanted to see.

This hotel has a classical exterior but a nice modern marble interior. Rooms are large and comfortable and contain a large modern bathroom. Numerous elevators provide easy access to any of the floors and a large breakfast area provides a wonderfully diversified breakfast buffet. Although the hotel is located in a busy area, it is within walking distance of the train station and various historical locations eg. Forum, Pantheon, etc. Various restaurants and shops abound within walking distance of the front door. When in Rome you must be sure to try it because you will not be disappointed .

Good location, near main rail station, 10 minutes walk from St Mary Basilica, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, about half an hour from Pantheon, Colosseum and Forum. Room OK, good to have tea/coffee facilities in a European hotel but storage space very lacking, no drawers and few shelves. Lived out of suitcase for three nights. View as you would expect at the rear of a city hotel, lots of pipework. Plenty of lifts, at a number of locations of the reception which reduced queues and distance to your room Breakfast mixed. If yo are paying separately then as a 5euro extra it is probably good value. However if on the B&B rate then it is not a 4 star experience. Scrambled eggs clearly made from powder, omlette no better except the cheese and ham break up the gloopy lumps, breads verging on stale and coffee often nearly cold.

Well appointed hotel close to Rome's main railway station. On arrival allocated room 224, very disappointed as this room was extremely small. Following a lengthy discussion and then not updating us on the status we eventually managed to be moved to 645. This was a larger room but not that much bigger. It seems that on inspection when bedroom doors were open that most rooms are quite small. 645 had a comfortable double bed and the bathroom was larger with a shower only. The public areas are good and the hotel is recommended. Opposite the hotel there is a restaurant which is well a visit and is very reasonable. Nice touch in the hotel as each room has a mini Samsung tablet to use. There is also free WiFi. The breakfast is not included but should not be missed and is excellent value at 5 euros.

Great location and friendly staff at front desk and dining room. The $5.00 breakfast was really good. The honest staff found one of our traveller's purse in the hall and returned it. Thank you very, very much.

My husband and I recently travelled to Rome for the first time and stayed here as friends had also booked. Our room was ample in size with the bed on a mezzanine floor and sitting area and bathroom below. The termini station is only a few minutes walk and many attractions are close enough to walk to. The buffet breakfast is only 5€ extra per person and is very good value for money and very convenient, opening early so you can make an early start. There is also complimentary wifi and small business centre. The staff spoke excellent English and were able to help with directions and provide a map. There are also many good places to eat close by and a small grocery store just around the corner. I'm hoping I will have the opportunity to stay again.

About 5 mins walking distance from the Termini rail station, so very easy to get to having taken the Leonardo Express into Rome from the airport. We had two rooms, conveniently directly opposite one another. Both rooms were clean, not huge but perfectly OK, with well appointed en suite bathroom and the usual hotel room amenities. The only downside was the near constant sound of running water from other rooms using their bathrooms. Take some earplugs and you'll be fine! Breakfast is €5 a head which is very reasonable. There are lots of good restaurants nearby (eg Cotto) and it's also walking distance to many of the main attractions (eg Colosseum and Trevi Fountain). If the walk is too far for you, head back to the Metro at the Termini (it's €1.50 for a single ticket).

My husband and I stayed with our 10 month old. They were more than accommodating for our baby, and made is feel as though he was more than welcome. Staff were friendly in general, happy to help and quick to sort a few mishaps we had upon arrival. Many husband had book the anniversary, kids and woman's package plus flowers, with our room, but when we arrived none of these were there. My husband was a bit annoyed at first as the anniversary package and flowers were a surprise for me, a d he felt out was ruined slightly. But staff were quick to get the packages set up and delivered to it room, as well as giving my son a soft toy to apologise and give us all a complimentary meal in their restaurant for our anniversary. The room was lovely, and the location was perfect. Breakfast was ample.

The location is very strategic, the price is quite affordable, the hotel is very bright and lots of food and beverage sales, close to the Termini station, if I go back to Rome I will make sure to stay back

Room was delightful and everything very clean always. You can not say anything negative about this Best Western location and staff. Breakfast very busy but managed very well even at stressful moment. We liked our stay very much.

The hotel is ideally located near the Termini rail and bus station (airport drop off) and we were provided with an unusual room with a genuine painted ceiling. Bed was on a mezzanine floor above the small lounge and the shower room. Full breakfast was only 5 euros extra per person and did not disappoint- full buffet with everything you could want. You can walk to Trevi, Spanish Steps and the Colosseum and obviously the bus station to anywhere else is just round the corner. Throughly recommend for a good value centrally located mid market hotel.

The room was very small and the bathroom was not clean but the towels was clean and it changed everyday . The breakfast was good and the variety was good. There wasn't a coffee machine for espresso and there was a noise in the room

We stayed at this hotel on September 28, 29 30 and November 1, 2018. We were pleasantly greeted by Marco on the desk and he set the tone for our stay. He was so pleasant, so professional and he made us feel so welcome. The hotel itself was clean and well taken care of. It is conveniently situated close to restaurants, cafes and the Hop On Hop Off bus. If I go back to Rome I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel, room and staff were the best! Great location, close to the metro. You can get to anywhere in Rome easily. The breakfast was delicious. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of their slow internet in the room. Hotels like this one need to understand that guests need good, fast reliable internet...even if we're on vacation. The internet here was passable but we couldn't even watch Netflix without it losing connection.

This hotel was a perfect choice once again for our group of traveling friends. It's close to the central train station and metro stops, important to us since we travel by train. The hotel is bright, clean and full of amenities. Hotel employees are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is well worth the few Euro charged. If we return to Rome in the future, we'll not hesitate to book this hotel once again.

We were with Great Rail Journeys & stayed a couple of nights on a B & B basis. Breakfast was manic & very poorly designed from a layout point of view. Our room was excellent even though it did not have a view.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 2 night in August, what a great hotel, great location, only a few minutes walk from Termini train station. A little bit of a walk to the main sights (10-15 mins) but the walk is offset by the greatness of this hotel. The room was so clean, large, modern with a huge bathroom. Extremely comfortable king size bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The best part is the 5 euro breakfast which was an absolute bargain when you discover how much food and variety was on offer, we couldn't believe it was that cheap. The room also came with a smartphone with internet access for you to use while discovering the city, very helpful and useful. Would defiantly recommend this hotel and stay here again if in Rome.

The hotel was very accommodating and every turn. We had a quick check in after a long flight and the room was beautiful and quiet. Use of the Manet Smart phone was such a big help. We used to walk all over her room to see the sights. We also had dinner in the dining room one night which was very good. I highly recommend it. The breakfast at five euros per person was extremely plentiful. You can't go wrong with this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. The room was large, clean and comfortable. We weren't able to check in until 2pm but we were able to change in their restrooms and they securely held our bags. The location was perfect for walking to many different tourist sites and the breakfast in the morning was delicious and had a lot of options (5 euros per person)

I found this hotel a bit of a mixed bag, good and bad points. The hotel is perfectly located only minutes away from all transport links and not too far from tourist attractions. Hotel lobby and room very clean. However, we found that our shower leaked terribly at every use, flooding the floor and making it very slippery. I reported this when we checked out. The view from our window was the air con/heating unit, not very nice. I found the hotel lobby area a bit featureless. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Special mention to barmen/waiters Giuseppe and Ion who were very nice and welcoming when we went for our nightcap.

They kept their brand promise. It was a lovely stay at this convenient location, just 5min away from the termini and even less from the metro. It's also walkable from here to all the attractions, depending on how fit you are of course. We even walked to the hotel from the Vatican City while enjoying the city. The room is clean and spacious with all you need for the stay. Staff was helpful. We were given a room on 8th floor. We enjoyed a drink in the evening in the common balcony. Loved the stay.

This hotel has a wonderful, helpful staff. Everyone greeted us with a smile and graciously helped with all of our questions. We'd stayed there for a night and it was a good hotel. Clean, comfortable, nice. The staff is friendly and smiley but everything costs, it's already expensive so why not include breakfast or transfer? Location is also ok

Since we were on a tour we did not do any research. We were surprised how nice the hotel was and how convenient to lots of amenities. The train station was nearby but not noisy. The breakfast was superb and found out you had to request Cappuccino if you wanted it at no extra charge, took a while but they were busy. Nice restaurants nearby. Hotel restaurant was very pricey and choices were slightly limited. Bar did not seem to be able to handle very many people unless you sat on the roof top deck which was very nice, but while we were there it rained or was very very hot. I would stay there again and recommend this hotel to friends and family

We enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was surprisingly a lot better than other hotels. The staff is very friendly. The only issue was there was left over food in the mini refrigerator maybe from the previous guests. No big deal but it just almost spilled when we opened the door. They provide a free mobile phone you can use during your stay which would be useful to navigate your visit. Would stay here again if ever.

Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is a four star hotel situated very close to Termini Station. The hotel is close to the Opera House and to some important buildings such as the Ministry of Interior, the Baracchini Palace in Via XX Settembre, the Treasury and the Ministry of Agriculture. i still wonder why there are two lavatories in the bathroom.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights prior to departing Italy. It's location was accessible to the train station, buses and metro. We liked the fact that there were many dining options close by. The hotel was clean and modern, the staff was friendly and helpful...we were able to order a car to drive us to airport which was reasonably priced. I would recommend this hotel

Great location, Beautiful room, friendly service! From the outside you would not know that there is this hidden gem so close to the station, yet far enough to not be too close. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable beds, and the service was super friendly. I recommend it to everyone!

A clean and attractive hotel, very well placed to access all major attractions. A minor minus was the lack of an included breakfast as is usually found in the Plus version. However the service was very helpful and friendly. We checked in early after a long flight and there was no hesitation in storing our bags while we waited for our room. Walking distance to bus and rail station. Handy to numerous restaurants. Well recommended

We were not in the best of moods following a 4hr flight delay, therefore missing the last Express train into the city, then, on top of the 69 euro taxi fare, scammed a further 40 euro by this taxi, which although at the airport, apparently wasn't a registered one... BE WARNED...he swapped the 50 we gave him for a 10, then said we need to pay the extra 40. So, really nice from the moment we arrived @ 2 am, to receive a friendly greeting from the night reception. During our 4 night stay we were always greeted and aknowledged by the reception, dining staff and housekeeping. The rooms may have been on the smaller side, wardrobe a bit useless for 2 people and small safe but were cool, and immaculate, pluses out-weighing the minuses. Buffett Breakfast had a good choice for all tastes, extra hot & cold drinks available in the sitting area. The hotel itself is ideally situated near the Termini if you do catch the express in from the airport, great for walking to most of the main tourist spots and amongst lovely eateries if not eating at the hotel. Would recommend and stay again if returning to Rome.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a group The hotel is within easy walking distance of Termini Station, the Collosseum and the Forum. The room was comfortable and spacious with modern furnishings. There is only one power point, independent of the main room power supply so can be left on to charge devices when out of the room. There was a good choice of food for breakfast although at a busy time the dining room could be crowded.

Book on Best Western Website (Highly Recommended) There was an option to pay a little bit more for Breakfast and Dinner. I went for it. The Breakfast was impeccably displayed (and on time) and Dinner was a 3 course meal! (All included in our booking) This was more affordable than going out to eat. Cappuccinos are only 2 euros, outside were 3.5 euros. The rooms are modern and very Clean. Free Luggage Storage. Air Conditioning!!!! Free WiFi and easy access! Staff was super Nice and Friendly! My Experience here was great!

I didn't realize this is a designated tour group hotel . Hotels are often packed with tourist from all over. Tour bus station outside the hotel day and night picking up and dropping off tour groups. Being individual traveler, one might feel a little suffocated with the mobs of tourist. If you take the breakfast options, you are met with room full of tour groups of tourists. Rooms are clean and modern. Rooms have thin walls, so noises from late night tourist return can easily be heard. Location of hotel is convenient, as it is within 8 to 10 minutes walk from Roma Termini.

This is the most unpleasant hotel stay i have ever experienced at best western plus universo in Rome. Dirty brownish shower and sink waters + bath water spilling in the bathroom. I complained multiple times during my 3 day stay (room 436) to the hotel reception. They promised each time that they will fix the problem BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. Some of the pictures i am sharing are from 5 mns ago. I am leaving tomorrow morning The hotel and Rome with the biggest disappointment. I do not recommend this hotel for the lack of customer service for a basic bathroom comfort.

Booked 2 rooms for 2 couples for a 4 night break .Ideal location for transportation and local restuarants were good. Good breakfast, restuarant and bar staff at hotel were excellent, pity the house keeping was poor especially for a 4 star. Always things missing after room was made up. Customer services asked if we had any problems, we told them about similar problems on both rooms and nothing changed apart from our rooms now not being made up until 4 pm

The toilet was awful. I have never been to a 4 star hotel bathroom quite this dirty in my life. The smell was awful, it smelled of rotten water under the space that they have made to house the wooden floor mat. It was quite shooking to me to see the shampoo dispenser fixed to the wall with painters tape in a Suite! Fridge was not working The staff was very kind and helpful but I have never seen a room this dirty in my life. I would have never expected to see shuch filth in a 4 star suite. This is a hotel I will never go to again and I advise everyone not to go there as well if you value cleanliness.

We are a family of 4,we stayed for 3 days after we completed our Mediterranean cruise.The staff at reception were helpful and welcoming,the check in was fast and efficient.The hotel is located only 3-4 minutes on foot from Termini station,you can reach trevi fountain /Spanish steps in 3 metro stops.Trevi fountain/piazza venezia is about 25 minutes on foot and taxi costs about 6-7 euros.In the area around you can find good restaurants/cafes good value for money.Family room was nice,very comfortable ,clean and big enough.The breakfast was average but cost only 5 euro p.p. Good value for money in Rome.

we stayed here for 2 nights and booked 2 rooms . the hotel is located very close to metro station and rome termini station(all within walking distance). This saved us a lot of time and gave us the flexibility to visit numerous places. there are numerous shops and eateries nearby. As we are from india, 2 very good indian restaurants are also near by (one near metro station and one at a distance of 800 mtr). regarding the hotel, the rooms were excellent , spacious clean . buffet was great. stay was very comfortable for the price we paid. given a chance , i would definitley come back for this hotel.

We stayed for two nights with our two boys who had their own room. Rooms were large and spotless. bathrooms were beautiful! Our room had a huge balcony with chairs and loungers overlooking the city. The staff was absolutely incredible! Extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful! They assisted us with transportation to the airport and offered complimentary breakfast which was terrific- eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc., etc., we will be back! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

EXCELLENT!!!! I cannot fault this hotel in any way. The rooms were very clean, modern & a good size. My two daughters had a suite which was on two floors with an amazing balcony. We are very fussy, but could not find anything wrong with our rooms. Nothing was a problem for the staff, who were always happy & very helpful, from the receptionists, cleaners, restaurant staff & bell boy. My elderly mother, who was with us, became ill whilst away and they always enquired about her. She has mobility problems & access all over the hotel was amazing with plenty of room for her wheelchair. The breakfast was amazing, not just a cold continental breakfast. They offered plenty of bacon & scrambled eggs, fresh fruit & pasties with plenty of choice. The location was very central with some lovely little restaurants. Myself, my mum and my sister recently stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and I can not fault it. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff at the reception are a credit to the hotel always smiling (especially the tall young man) and were all extremely helpful and welcoming. It is a great location only a 2 minute walk from the main train and metro station where you can reach the Trevi fountain in 2 stops and the Spanish steps in 3. Otherwise it's only approx 8 euro in a taxi to the Trevi. The restaurants surrounding the hotel are also fantastic and extremely good value compared to the prices you will pay closer to the touristy areas. Overall it was a lovely stay and I would recommend to anyone visiting rome.

Myself and my husband stayed here for 3 nights, we were welcomed by the hotel staff on arrival who were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent value at €5 euros per person per day, our room was lovely and comfortable, the location was fantastic, we couldn't fault it in anyway. I would recommend this hotel to anyone we had the best trip.

Hotel is clean, rooms are spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel is below average wouldn't really recommend having a meal there the food was bland plain and overpriced would definitely recommend eating out Location and taxis located roughly 30 mins from the Trevi fountain walking distance that is. 25 mins walk from coliseum. The Vatican is a bit further away and would need to get a taxi however would recommend getting into a taxi off the street that turns the meter on as it will cost less - we made the mistake of taking a taxi from the front of the hotel which charged a fixed fee of 32 euros which in fact should have only been roughly 22 euros as we caught a taxi back to the hotel.

Stayed here one night only due to departure from Cruise line. Check in were mostly male and not friendly. Room is quite modern with an upstairs loft and downstairs twin bed for my teen. They do hold your luggage for free. You can book tours and call for transportation to airport as there is a set fee to transport guests to airport as city sets it!

I am writing this review because I was amazed by the kind and hard working staff. We started our holiday not at this hotel but at another. When we checked in at the other hotel Friday night at 10.30pm there was wall paper hanging off the walls, mould everywhere and to my surprise there was also bugs right theough the room I was in absolute shock.. Myself, my younger sister, mum and grandma who is 90 decided we had to leave. I went online and found the Best Western and at 12am ran through the doors telling them we needed two rooms as soon as possible. They booked us in to come back the following day when there was spare rooms. They were so caring and shocked at the pictures I showed them from where we were staying. (Which we had been recommended by our travel agent) We checked in the following day and my grandma fell very ill. If we had not got to this hotel when we did I fear my grandma would not of got the urgent care and help she so desperately needed. The reception staff called the doctor they had recommended who came and was brilliant. They also sorted out the taxis and everything we needed to get her and us to and from the hospital as quick as was possible. When we came back from hospital they said anything you need we will get. We called down to reception for a blood pressure machine and it was at our door with in 30 seconds. Lifts everywhere perfect for my gran who was in a wheel chair who was too weak to walk. Everytime me and my sister went down to the lobby they would ask how my gran was doing. The rooms are also to a very high standard, beautiful and clean. We had the suite on two levels with a huge balcony that was gorgeous. We asked at the front desk if we could extend our check out time from 11am to 7pm as we had a late flight they said no problem at all. The most amazing hotel so kind and considerate to our awful circumstances. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!!! Thank you for everything. We can't put into works how amazing you all were.

We stayed for 4 nights and selected the Junior Suite as we were 3 including our child. All attractions in Rome are close by, the termini was very close and that helped us to visit Naples one of the days during our stay. The breakfast was very good with good spread. We booked this hotel , for its proximity to Termini . Didn't think much of it , we only stayed two nights and wanted to do some sightseeing and being able to be close to everything and it was great. Staff really helpful, even with information about our car rental, they helped us with directions , etc. One cool feature that we have never seen in any other hotel in Europe or North America is the hotel allocates a cel phone in every room for personal use. We were able to google and have maps open all the time and we never got lost around Rome. That was great!! we didn't have to use our data plans, or we used the hotel cel phone to do restaurant reservations or make local phone calls. Thanks to everyone!! we were very pleased with the service as we were in a budget and this hotel surpassed our expectations. Good value for the money in Rome

In the last thirty years, I have brought over 20 groups to Rome. Without question, this hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spotless, the AC worked exceptionally well, and the entire hotel staff (cleaning, front desk, bar, and dining room. If particular note, the waiters in the main dining room (Mohamed and Marco) went out of their way for my clients particular dietary needs...every request was answered with alacrity and a smile...they were certainly the consummate example of professional Italian waiters. If you want an enjoyable Roman vacation, look no further than the Best Western Universo.

We stayed in a room on the 7 th floor. It seems that some rooms have a large balcony, and our room was also with a large balcony, it was very good. In the night, I could cool down my hot and sunburned body lying on the chair, getting cool wind, after a city walking of a whole day.

Arrived early in the morning and found we were able to have access to our rooms straight away. Bonus! Nice room, king size bed, clean, no complaints. Breakfast at 5 Euros was cheap and a nice buffet selection. Plenty of cafes in the streets near the hotel to eat all other meals at. Location was very close to the Terminii Train station, although we didn't use it, but also one street away from the Hop On Hop Bus which made life very easy for us wanting to see as much as we could in the 2 days there. Booked a car to the airport using the service offered by the hotel and found it to be slightly cheaper than what was offered elsewhere.

Myself and my partner both have back pain issues and were pleasantly surprised by the comfy bed! This was really important for us to be able to sleep comfortably. Air conditioning worked well. The location of the hotel is good. Only a 5 minute walk from termini station.
