    « Great central hotel »

Stayed as family 2 adults and 2 teens in family suite. Large double and sofa bed. Kids said sofa bed was not that comfy but ours was!. Large walk in shower. Good quality toiletries supplied and replaced daily. Centrally located near Termini station, bus station and metro. 30 euros for 30min ride from Ciampino airport for 4 with 4 cases in taxi - don't let them charge you more as its a set fare from the airport to within the city wall. They will try though - just stand firm and quote this government ruling! Hotel as clean and well kept. Staff friendly and helpful. Full breakfast was good quality and plentiful. tea and coffee in room. Served evening meals but didn't have. Lots a lovely places to eat near the hotel and throughout the city to suit all budgets Free WIFI and computer room where you can print out - good for boarding passes. Would return and recommend.

    « Nice Hotel »

Nice room with VERY modern plumbing fixtures. Functional with good location. The breakfast buffet was a nice surprise: nice rolls, pastry--cappuccino. Nice selection of salami and cheeses. There were several large tour groups and the buffet was replenished.

    « Fresh & Updated »

This hotel was a refreshing change compared to other hotels in the immediate area. It has been recently updated and freshened up. I booked a single room but was given a double room at check-in ! My room was on the 7th floor and had a very nice large balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The bathroom was big and didn't have a tub, only a shower but that was OK with me. The room was furnished very nicely with a double bed, a nice sized TV, closet and safe. It was extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was 3 euros and was great ! Also included was a steam room and sauna on the lower level. This is a hard to find amenity in a hotel of this price. Customer service staff was very courteous at check-in and was very helpful in suggesting routing to the sites. It is a 5-7 minute walk from the Termini train station which makes it nice. I was 100 percent satisfied with this hotel/staff. I will return to this location on future visits to Rome. Thank you to the staff !!

« Long weekend in Rome »

We chose this as it is close to the train station which had Ciampino airport shuttle bus link to the airport, plus all attractions we wanted to see were in walking distance of the hotel. I recommend making sure you leave plenty of time to catch the shuttle back to the airport, it was very unclear where to get the ticket or the bus stop and the whole process was absolute chaos. The hotel has contactless key cards and ours didn't work the first 3 attempts, we had to keep going back to reception for help but they didn't come with us to tell us how it worked or check the problem. We seemed an inconvenience that it wouldn't work and had to ask for help several times. Also, the next day we asked a man at reception (the same man at when the key broke incidentally) for an iron, ironing board and shaving kit to be delivered to our room as it says in their welcome pack they provide these services for free. The man didn't look at me and kept talking to his colleague then said to me yea I'll send the stuff (as in why are still here), bit of a rude attitude, don't think he listened to me at all. Then they still hadn't arrived after 24 hours so I asked again (as different man this time) and they were delivered within 5 minutes. The room and bathroom were clean, very comfortable bed with memory foam mattress with a pillow menu. Shower had a good pressure and was nice quality. Good sized towels and plenty of soaps, shampoos etc. TV only had 1 English channel but we didn't go to Rome to watch English TV! Breakfast was €3 per person a day and lgood quality and selection. The location, cleanliness and comfort of this hotel are excellent, just some unfriendly staff but most of them were great and really helpful

« When in Rome, our new home away from home »

The BW Hotel Universo was affordable, lovely and conveniently located. It was an easy stroll along a couple of friendly shop and restaurant-lined blocks to one of Rome's must-see's, the basilica, Santa Maria Maggiore.

« Right near it all »

Excellent property in a great location, the rooms are well furnished and of a good size, good buffet breakfast, with the only drawback being the hotel staff being true to Italian style of arrogance and rudeness, an exception to this was the young lady at breakfast reception and the guy that operated the bar, with the front desk reception staff being extremely surly and unwilling to assist with directions etc.

    « Best Western »

Awful hotel for the money paid. Original room was terribly small and the shower door didn't close properly and leaked. We were moved to a better room the next day upon complaining. Breakfast awful free for all. Whatever time we went there was always stuff lacking. No glasses, no coffee, no forks etc etc. Staff shrugged and went back to replacing stuff randomly. Better management and job delegation would have helped. Generally found breakfast attendants to be rude and unhelpful. No English speaking staff on reception in the night. Tea, coffee provided in rooms but little of it. Wouldn't recommend for the money paid, would look elsewhere. Paid the same for much better.

    « Excellent choice »

Good relation quality/price. Confortable rooms and nice restaurant service (specially Marco and Momo). Cental location near termini (metro, bus, train) and some touristic atractions(termas diocleciano, museums) that you can go by foot.

    « 10 Days At this Hotel...Very Comfortable! »

I visited Rome as part of a graduate study program, and we were headquartered at this hotel. My room was small but comfortable and serviceable. The morning breakfasts were excellent, and the room service was very prompt. The hotel is very close to Termini and a number of nice restaurants and sights. The maid service was thorough and happy to give extra towels and attention. The AC worked well--a bonus in Rome in July. I did have an issue with a leaky shower, but it was resolved. The hotel can be noisy; I could hear everything that went on in the hallways. Overall, recommended!!

    « A good Hotel »

I was travelling with Globus and this was the hotel from which we started our tour.I was given a fabulous room with a king size bed and a single. What was surprising about my room was I had two bathrooms. Both were finished in travertine and very well appointed. One bathroom had a bath with a shower and the other had two overhead showers. There were two toilets and a bidet. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were the right height for me. I did experience the rocking from the earthquake but it didn't last long and the hotel survived. A good buffet breakfast was provided and the food was hot and edible. It was also close to other cafes. All in all it was and good and comfortable stay.

« An OK stay in Rome »

We stayed here for one night post our MED cruise in October 2016. The Hotel is in a good location within Walking distance to most of the good sights and spots. Some parts are under renovation at the moment. So what did I like: - The Hotel had excellent Free WiFi which is a massive plus. - The Room was large with a very well kitted out bathroom I found the reception staff to be a little unfriendly at check in but thereafter they seemed to cheer up :) The Room was quite modern and large but also felt quite cold and not very welcoming. We didn't eat the breakfast as we got up too late so unfortunately cannot comment on that.

    « Charming and Quaint »

This is a very beautiful but simple hotel. It's very old school but modernize enough to keep up the times. The loft / elevator is nice to see but is old and slow so pack your patience. The rooms are roomy and comfortable. The windows open fully so be careful if you have children. Breakfast is delicious and a nice variety. The location can't be beat, it's central to everything. I walked to the Coliseum, if you're a walker and get excited to get your "steps in" you can walk there.

    « Great break »

Stayed recently at the Best Western for a hectic four day sightseeing trip in Rome. The hotel was very clean, room with balcony very relaxing and well soundproofed which appears to be a must with Rome traffic. The hotel was conveniently located for the majority of the sights on our bucket list.

    « great location »

Hotel location is tops - walking distance to Via Nazionale, Rome Termini, Basilicas, Trevi fountain..Room very adequate, clean and refreshingly modern. Not all room sizes are the same but bed mattress and pillow quality excellet in the diferent types of room I stayed in - a Single and a Triple room. Top floor rooms are mini but you have a walk out balcony / patio with chairs and a great panoramic view of the city. This is my third time this year,, last stay this month was with my group and everyone was happy with the facilities, reception, breakfast bufffet spread. Free internet and printing service at the lobby makes it convenient to do paper work like check in and boarding passes. Would definitely stay again and bring my groups here

    « Comfortable Week Stay »

I stayed here for a week during my study abroad experience. The one complaint I would have is that the staff wasn't the most friendly, but that obviously isn't going to be the case for everyone and something that can be overlooked. Although we were in a standard room that had yet to be updated, it was very comfortable for myself and three other ladies (comfortable for a movie night with five more ladies as well!). The breakfast was very good with a large selection of food. I used two different train stations nearby to travel to Florence and the airport which was totally doable even with two pieces of large luggage.

« An honest review of our 4 night stay/ this was a guided tour booking not ours. »

Our 2nd floor room looked out into a void where you could see the workings of the air conditioning plant and very little else, very little natural light, if you looked up with your head close to the glass you could roughly see what the weather was. Room tidy and clean, very good bed, bathroom clean . The shower leaked under the door, thankfully most of it soaked up into the mat, the toilet seat came off !! but it just clicked back on after a little investigation. Restaurant was a little confusing, ate in on first night, not that impressed. Breakfast was a free for all, it was good food and well presented just not organised, needs to have a rethink. It was hectic as so many wanted to make an early start, some people left their manners at home, and the crockery kept running out as did the seating. Overall it was a good clean hotel with polite, well trained staff, very well positioned for anyone wanting to stay in Rome. But I would not use again, probably because I have stayed in so many and use them as a measure to what to expect from a 4 star city hotel.

« Relaxing End to Our Tour of Italy »

We stayed here as our final stop before heading home after 4 weeks in Italy. The location near the train station makes it the ideal place to base for your Rome excursion. Put your walking shoes on and you can easily get to all of the sites in Rome or walk to the train station and take the Metro. The hotel staff are excellent with expertise to recommend tours and eating places. The in-house restaurant was good and the breakfast one of the best hotel breakfasts that we had on this trip. This is our second visit here and if we were to come back to Rome I would book a third time.

    « Pleasant stay »

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days. The staff were helpful and the breakfast had good variety. Our room was small but modern and clean with a balcony overlooking the street which we liked very much. There was free wifi which was pretty fast. The hotel is centrally located, only a 5 minute walk to the termini station (starting point for hop on hop off tours) and within easy reach to the city's main attractions. Also there are so many shops n restaurants around the corner. We have no complaints about this hotel, would return for our next visit to Rome.

    « Holiday break »

We have just returned from a 3 day break in Rome and stayed at the BW Roscoli Universo. We must say it was one of the best breaks we have had and must compliment the staff for given us a great break. All the staff were ever so helpful with even the least request. Miss Roberta and Miss Sabina from Customer service must get a special mention for making our 35th wedding anniversary break one to remember. I would have no problem recommending this hotel for a break. It was only 5 mins walk from Termini station and has a wonderful buffet breakfast.

    « Great location, comfortable »

Spent two nights here on business. The room was extremely comfortable with very nice accommodations. Breakfast buffet was abundant with fruits, meats, eggs, breads, etc. I ordered a decaf cappuccino one morning with soy milk and it was undrinkable. I greatly appreciated the vicinity to the train station with the underground supermarket and the new supermarket also nearby on Via Cavour. There is a refrigerator in the room for perishables.

« Nice Hotel, Great Location »

The hotel is welcoming. Stayed here with a group tour. Rooms were nice and clean. Bathrooms were big. We had two rooms. The smaller room had a stall shower with a zero threshold. Had to put towels down to stop water from flooding out. Saw this issue from other rooms as well. Need to direct shower head towards wall. Great location, nice restaurants nearby. Breakfast in hotel was good.

« Great location, modern hotel »

The whole hotel has recently been refurbished and it really is very smart and modern. Travelling as part of a group tour and a single, but tour operator specified double for single use so had a great corner, duel aspect room on first floor (126). Plenty of room to spread out with very comfortable king sized bed. So nice to have effective lighting provided unlike many hotel rooms which always seem dark despite all lights being turned on. All lighting is concealed and furniture very modern with large screen TV. but only English channel worth watching was the regular BBC World News. However many international channels to choose from. Bathroom a decent size with good sized walk in shower (no bath) fitted with 'rain' shower head and large towels provided. Free wifi seemed fairly fast and only needed an email address to login. We had breakfast all days (large continental type buffet with small selection of hot dishes) and one included evening meal. Waiting staff very good and friendly especially Mohammed! Location only 5 minutes walk from the main Railway Station - Roma Termini - and plenty of other sights within an easy walk (for those who don't mind walking a mile or so). Lots of assorted restaurants within a few steps of front door.

« Good hotel, good location. »

Last hotel on the tour of Italy (Sept 2016) lovely double bed, really comfy and slept well every night. good bathroom, had a big shower with a built-in seat, was one of those with lots of jets but I never used them just the normal shower. Mini bar in the room was the same price as the bar in the hotel so not a rip-off. Outside smoking area on the 8th floor which was nice and saved standing outside the front of the hotel. Breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice and the coffee was good, staff are friendly and helpful. I don't know why but I felt really comfortable in this hotel and there was nothing that i did not like about it, I would stay there again if I went to Rome. I was up early most morning and there is a lot to see nearby within walking distance whilst it is quiet :-)

    « Location is great »

Just arrived back from a 3 night stay in a suite on the 2nd floor. Nice big room with balcony but a few niggles. Tv downstairs didnt work most of the time as the aerial was broken, the shower leaked a lot over the floor and a chair was broken. That said, the bed was the comfiest I've slept in in a hotel, anywhere. The location is also fantastic. You can walk to just about anywhere, which we did and my feet have still not forgiven me! Breakfast was basic continental fair but the pancake maker was a nice touch. We ordered a taxi back to the airport and a nice black Mercedes turned up. Still €48 but a much nicer ride than the one when we arrived. We made it from the airport to hotel in about 30 mins. The driver was a nutter and quite frankly, the Italians are really scary drivers. There appear to be no road rules. Just be very careful when using zebra crossings. It appears cars dont actually have to stop for you!!! Rome is beautiful. Make sure you take comfy shoes for walking in and enjoy it.

    « Vacation »

Stayed there for one night before boarding a cruise ship. Small room but pleasant. Apparently it is a popular hotel for that same reason with many others. Some little shops and restaurants close by. Everything has multiple steps and ramps and unlevel features to the sidewalks and walking. Vendors bother you trying to sell their wares quite often. Lots of smokers. Very congested. Interesting but would not stay again.

    « Book a 7th floor room »

We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights on a GRJ tour. we had taken the option of an upgrade and we were glad we did. The room was excellent and had a little balcony with seats that looked at over the Rome rooftops

« Excellent Updated Hotel by Termini »

The Universo is an older hotel in walking distance of the Termini area which has been fully renovated. It has excellent staff with friendly service from long term employees especially Michele at the front desk and Aldo at the breakfast buffet which is well worth the money.

« Convenient to Roma Termini, very comfortable bed! »

Less than a 10 minute walk from Termini on well-lit streets. Clean hotel and extremely comfortable beds - they have a pillow menu! Shower also had great water pressure (we were on the 5th floor) and stable temperature. Only stayed one night but it met all of our needs.

    « Comfortable and Convenient »

Booked through an agent specialising in disabled friendly hotels. Approx. 1hr taxi ride from the airport Fiumicino (note.... Rome has set taxi prices to the airport of 48 euros currently). We found all the hotel staff, from cleaners to head waiter (Marco and his hard working team) to be extremely professional, polite and friendly, with the exception of Rosario on reception, which was a shame. We checked out and except for telling me how much hotel tax I had to pay, he didn't even say thanks or goodbye. Room was spacious and always clean. There are 3 lifts, which our wheelchair fit into. The lift goes to - 1 where there is a small gym, a small sauna and small steam room. Unfortunately there were a couple of steps to sauna/steam room and the hotel couldn't put in a ramp. I wasn't aware that there still were smoking / non smoking rooms as some had a no smoking sign on the door. Ours didn't and there was an ashtray next to the bed (although there was a notice referring you to somewhere in the hotel you could smoke) but still, there was a faint smell of smoke in the room. If you want a non smoking room it may be worth asking for one (even if you are told they are all non smoking). Rooms have a balcony, which was nice but we didn't use it (which we now regret!) . Rooms have air-conditioning, a free room safe and TV with BBC news channel. There is a mini bar and a hair dryer but no iron (the hotel offers a dry cleaning service). The bathroom had a walk-in shower but the sink was not at wheelchair level and (as we have found in most hotels), the mirror was above head height making it difficult for the person using a wheelchair to see what they are doing (brushing teeth /shaving etc.) There is a full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door. There are two ramps down to breakfast but you will need to assist the person in the wheelchair as these ramps are too steep for the wheelchair user to navigate alone. There is a good selection for breakfast comprising cereals, fruit, pancakes, croissants, hams, cheese, breads, salads, cake and hot food such as scrambled eggs, bacon and small sausages. Tea, coffee, fruit juices and water are all available. The hotel is situated approx 5 min walk from the main station, Termini, which is handy when taking the bus home as it can be a little confusing regarding where to catch a bus / get off at first. We found the bus drivers to be really helpful with our wheelchair and most have ramps to get on / off. A one way bus ticket in Rome cost 1.50 euros.... Never really understood the system here as you have to use a ticket you buy within 100 mins of buying it. You have to validate the ticket when you get on by inserting into a ticket machine on the bus. However, most busses are packed to the brim and no-one can get to them. A lot of them are also broken. This has resulted in hardly anyone (except for the tourists) actually paying for a ticket. We never saw any ticket controllers and the drivers didn't seem bothered :) The ticket can be used on either the bus or subway. An all day bus/metro ticket cost 7 euros which can be useful but we bought one and only used it twice (to get to the Vatican and then back to the hotel). The rest of the time we strolled around and then only bought a ticket back to the hotel as we were so tired by the nd of the day. A handful of metro stations have lifts but not the main ones. Good luck getting onto a train during peak times as you are crammed in like sardines! Take care for pickpockets as the crowded public transport system makes you an ideal target. There are lots of nice restaurants close to the hotel. It's worth checking them out and ask them if their chef is Italian if you really do want an authentic tasting meal. Be careful when ordering to check what is included. There is normally an additional cover charge / table tax per person. Also, if you ask for additional veg, you may be charged. We ordered a carbonara, which was 9 euros, but asked for additional mushrooms and were charged an additional 9 euros. Bus 64 goes to the Vatican from Termini. Take a good pair of comfortable walking shoes with you whatever you do. Your feet will really thank you! There are a few concerts showing close by. We saw one in a church, which comprised a quintet playing Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and a woman singing a sort of cantata, which was very enjoyable. Most of the streets are cobbled and therefore were quite bumpy so if the wheelchair user suffers from any type of nerve related pain, this may be an issue at times. Some coasters may get stuck in between the cobbles causing the chair to jolt. I think we will look out for plumper, air-filled tyres for our next visit. Don't be surprised when you check out when you are presented with a bill as you have to pay a hotel tax for each person per night (6 euros pppn), which is quite usual in Italy. Of course we saw as much of the sites as possible. I now require extensive pampering of my feet! We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel for location and comfort.

« Excellent hotel when exploring Rome City Centre »

This hotel was a great spot located in central Rome. A 2 minute walk to the train station and close to all tourist destinations. We booked the family suite which included a loft bedroom. Modern decor. Enough room for a family of 4. Loved our balcony!!! Wonderful to sit out at night and watch the night life. Excellent breakfast as well!

    5
« Great hotel in a great location. »

As a family of four, two adults and two kids, we found this hotel to be great. Our stay was for three nights. Great location as you can catch the metro from the airport and it's only a five minute walk. The hop on hop off buses are a five minute walk also. Reception staff were fantastic on check in and during our stay. We had a slight issue with our room and the reception staff went above and beyond to accommodate. Breakfast buffet isn't anything to flash but there is enough variety to enjoy. Cereal, toast, cake, pastries, juices, eggs, bacon and tea/coffee. Would highly recommend this hotel.

« Peace and confort in the eternal city »

A nice place to stay in the busy city of roma. You will refresh in the coziness of your room and if you still have energy you can spend it in the sport center or just soak in the sauna. The rooms are really cosy the bathroom are designed and the breakfast awesome.

« You expect a certain level from a suite and this fell short »

We booked a junior suite for our week in Rome paying a little extra for a once in a lifetime trip. Sadly we had to ask to move rooms as the "sofa" offered with these rooms aren't in every room. We ended up seeing three suites and none were the size of the pictures on the website. That was a let down. There is very little storage in the rooms,we had a wardrobe with 6 hangers and 1 drawer. Not exactly useful for a week long trip for two. Also of the three rooms we saw only one had any form of balcony,of which this one was about a foot wide and not any use at all. The others just had windows. The "hydroshowers" also appear to be hit and miss with the rooms. The suites just feel like they could use a bit of investment and getting a bit tatty around the edges. The one thing they get right though is the bed. It was fantastically comfy. For the money you may as well get a normal room. Breakfast was ok at best. It's cheap but it becomes clear when you see the quality. It'll do you just fine as there isn't a great deal of choice locally. The hot plates are fairly pointless as no one closes them so the bacon, eggs and sausage are all cold. The good thing is the pancake maker. Saved the day for me. The location is great being so close to Termini meaning getting around the city is very easy. The gym is small and when going to find it,don't worry if the lift looks like it's taking you to a store room,it seems that corridor is used for storing chairs for the conference rooms. Reception staff didn't really explain anything to us when checking in other than where our room was, could have been a better welcome than that. The odd smile wouldn't go a miss. For over €200 a night you expect better.

« Great room nice staff »

I had a very nice room in the 7th floor, wide room king size bed, very well equipped, the hotel is very well located 10 to 20 minutes walking from so many attractions in center of Rome, very close to bus and train stations, breakfast buffet is nice with a lot of varieties, hotel staff are nice and friendly most of the time, English language is not the preferred one for most of the hotel staff

    « Nice location »

Every thing was ok , you can walk to train station we had been there for four nights the breakfast was nice and staff also helpful the view of our room was toward the inner court that is nothing and the only thing was house keeping , they didn't clean the room completely. Thete is a nice pizza just in front of hotel.

    3
    « It's ok but not great. I give it 3 stars »

They gave us a king size bed that is actually 2 single beds connected to each other and they keep on sliding away forming a gap between them. Which is very annoying and not comfy. When you shower the hot water pressure goes down quickly. Makes the shower very unpleasant. The stairs are very squeaky as you walk from the bedroom down the toilet. Aircon is very noisy. The toilet is not that clean. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is nice. The area is convenient. Wifi is very quick. The room is spacious and it have a small balcony which is nice.

    « Very good »

We stayed in this hotel 7 nights. It was very good and the lobby was exceptionally nice. Breakfast was great with a large assortment of international foods. Staff were friendly and polite. Very good for the price.

    « Visit to rome »

Good location since hotel is near restuarants and souvenir shops. You can just walk to the basilica of mary major and to th central train station which makes it more convenient to transfer location anywhere in rome. There was no parking space though and internet was relatively slow. Good value for money when visiting rome.

This hotel is a keeper! Minutes walk from the train station, excellent service, clean/modern rooms. My wife and I visit Rome often and will be stay there again! Excellent breakfast buffet also, one of the most complete we've seen and we're very frequent and seasoned travelers.

« Good Hotel and fairly priced. »

This was the first time we were visiting Rome. We booked a Quadruple room and was quite pleased with what we got. The downside was that the Double beds were two single beds together and this made it really uncomfy. We specifically asked for a quite room. The hotel is at a very prime location and this is one of the reasons why we chose this particular hotel. The breakfast was good..nothing fancy but the usual cold meats, bread etc. If asked if i would ever stay here again...i would definitely say yes.

« Great Stay in Best Western Hotel Universo Rome »

We were 3 couples and they alloted us best possible rooms to make our 4 night stay from 18th to 22nd July 2016. The staff at front office and at restaurant where we had our daily buffet breakfast were very cooperative and helped us in all manner. Though our sightseeing tours were pre-booked as and when we required assistance to reconfirm the same, front office executives always helped us with smile. The hotel is very centrally located and also near to Indian restaurant at a walking distance. The railway station is also very near. We strongly recommend the hotel as it is value for money with lavish spread of breakfast.

    « Convenient location »

Great location for our last night in Rome - 5min walk to train station and airport train. Good sized hotel room, clean and comfy bed. Check in was rediculously slow - half an hour! Didn't get to try breakfast as there was lots of noise in the adjoining room (some sort of maintenance or construction) and our son freaked out, so we had to leave before we could try anything! We were still charged. All in all, good value and good location for what we needed, but wouldn't want to stay here too long.

    « Not quite a 4 star experience »

The hotel itself is conveniently located and the buffet breakfast offers a variety of fresh cold meat, breads, pastry and even a diy pancake machine. Our room was clean, though at times smelled a bit musty. The corridors tended to smell like sewage which wasn't pleasent. But air-conditioning and wifi worked well. Just as an fyi, the double beds are two single beds pushed together, makes for a very uncomfy sleep if you tend to move about in the night. I would also suggest that you ask about the view from your room before arriving, especially if booking a standard room. the large steel pipes and machinery outside our window meant we never opened the curtains...have attached a picture below. If you will not be spending much time in the hotel and are planning a short stay, I think this accommodation would suit well.

« Great hotel at a great price »

My wife and I started our honeymoon in Rome and decided to stay here. We mentioned that it was our honeymoon and they immediately upgraded us to a room with a balcony...beautiful especially for relaxing in the morning. Room is a little small - couldn't open both our suitcases at the same time. Bathroom was also small but functional. Breakfast was very good as well...overall, for the price, great choice.

« Great stay in Rome »

We made a long weekend visit during easter and got a top floor room with balcony at good price. Views over rooftops to remember. Clean and quiet. We liked everything. We even got breakfast included though we didn't order it at booking (third party agency), thanks to the cool guys at the reception. Warmly recomended.

« Stay Here in Rome! »

European BW hotels are upscale and centrally located. The Universo is no exception. Located near the main train station (Roma Termini), the Universo is within walking distance (less than 2 miles) to the Coliseum and St. peter's Basilica. The breakfast is included and very good. On par with a cruise ship buffet breakfast attended to by white jacketed waiters, this buffet will save you tons of money. Plus, the hotel itself is inexpensive. The rooms are modern and very well kept. We'd go back without hesitation.

    « Great place »

We recently had a few days at the Best Western Universo Hotel in Roma. This is our second visit to the hotel and were not disappointed. The service was great, room was really lovely and breakfast was really great.

« Sadly checking out today »

So far this is the 6th & best hotel we have stayed in, in the past 3 weeks. Comfy, decent sized room, big bathroom with a bidet (if you like that kinda thing). Air conditioning is great for hot Rome summers! The staff are friendly, checkin took a little while, but not too bad. They also helped us book a Segway Tour around Rome (best way to see Rome in a day). Breakfast was great (scrambled eggs could have been better), but you have most things you could want to eat. There are also tonnes of restaurants within a stones throw. Will definitely stay here again, if we return to Rome in the future. My only slight complaint is the elevator is amaziling slow!

    4
« Good place close to Termini »

This hotel is very close to Termini Station, making it easy to visit everywhere in Rome or Vatican. Prices are not high, service is very good - we ordered some bottles of water from our room and they got there in a couple of minutes. I could consider returning to that place, for sure.

    4
« A great base for sightseeing Roma! »

This hotel is great for those wanting a central base for sightseeing. A 5 minute walk to termini metro station if you don't want to walk. I'd suggest walking though as it was only 15 minutes to the colosseum and trevi fountain with all of its bars, restaurants and shops. Our room was comfy and kept beautifully clean. The aircon worked really well too which was a plus. Personally it was the best bed I've ever slept in outside of the UK! Perfect for relaxing after a busy day out in the hot Italian sun. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. There was always something to eat. The pastries were delicious. You will be fine if you don't expect a full English breakfast every morning. Staff were so lovely and always willing to help us out when we needed it. The only negatives are that the room needed a slight repaint and the shower sealing properly because it did leak all over the floor. Our room (627) was quite noisy as it was the first room on the corridor. But it wasn't an issue and we slept well most nights. All in all it was a fantastic experience. Thank you Hotel Universo for making our holiday really enjoyable.

« A Nice hotel in the Center »

We spent the weekend at this hotel, and We were returning guests. In the middel of "everything" , you find Metro, buses and the Termini which connects you to Fiumicino AirPort with trains taking 30 min WTO times an hour. The straff was helpful and swift, the hotel offers a lovprice breakfast.

    5
    « good location »

the hotel is located near Termini metro station, bus station and Hop on Hop off green bus station number 1, very clean and very safe, we left money and passports on the bed, nothing was missing, the Nazionale street is too close, 100 feet, the best shopping place in Rome

    « Good Value/Good Location »

Spent three nights here with my family, six year old and 10 year old included. Overall we were happy with the hotel, with it's good location and helpful staff. However, when making the reservation I was under the impression that we were getting a family room (pull out bed) and separate bed room, in other words I thought 2 rooms so the kids would be in one, while mom and dad could be in the other, as described in the reservation. Unfortunately, we were all in one room that when the pullout bed was extended made for some difficulty getting by it to the bathroom. Nice place, great location and great start to the days with breakfast, but the rooms for four are tight as expected in Europe, but the description made the room sound larger than reality.

    « Average hotel »

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Adv.: Clean room, clean bathroom, good housekeeping, great location close to many attractions, great wifi( very strong signal and speed). Disadv.: Sooo Narrow small room, elevator so slow and small, breakfast no variety, no good room views, employees don't smile, TV boring, weak hair dryer.

« Close to Termini Station, Helful Staff and Great Breakfast »

This is a great place to stay if you are planning to use the train and have to be close to the train station for an early trip. This hotel is about 15 minutes from Trevi Fountain, but requires about an 8 Euro cab ride to the Coliseum and Vatican City, and to the areas where you will meet for Segway, e-bike and guided tours. The restaurants near the hotel (there are many street cafes) are decent and good to go to on your first night. We used Best Western certificates for the entire four night stay, which was nice too. PS - if you are elderly or have physical limitations, the tubs are very slippery. You may want to inquire about rooms with not slip or wider tubs

« Fast Trip to Roma »

Had a great time in Roma. This Hotel in well located next to downtown and the train station. Rooms were very nice and the hotel had a roof top patio so we could enjoy a night cap over looking the city. Very nice.

« well situated , modern and clean rooms »

efficient staff at the desk to check in and check out. clean and well equipped room. Impeccable bathrooms. Accessible electrical outlets near the bed. Wifi ok but keeps disconnecting. Breakfast was not up to what was expected. We had terrible coffee at the buffet, before realizing we could order cappucinos from the staff. The fruit salad had flies around.

« Globus tour great choice, loved it! »

This hotel was pre picked for our Italy Globus tour and was great. The location is very close to everything within walking distance to bars, resteraunts, and we would definitely come here again. Room was small and the shower doors did leak but just got extra towels. Positively ask for 2nd room key to help keep a/c on but turn out lights in case maid comes in. Wifi worked well for us.

    5
« Home Away From Home »

I enjoyed a beautiful, comfortable room on the 7th Floor with a view. Very efficiently laid-out room with a reasonably priced mini-bar. The hotel staff members are helpful and welcoming. Located two blocks away from Termini Station and everywhere you want to visit in the city, Best Western Hotel Universo is surrounded by excellent restaurants and convenient shopping. Whatever you need is nearby. Termini has several shopping stores.

    4
« Central location and worth the money »

This is not a luxury place, but if you are looking for central location to discover Rome this is good enough. They serve hot breakfast and first floor rooms have been fully refurbished. We didn't like the room we got initially but after having a word with the reception they changed us to a room in the first floor.

    4
« Clean hotel close to train terminal and colosseum »

Stayed here for three nights over a July weekend. Room was on the small side but was quite clean and quiet for a good nights rest. Internet was good and breakfast was serviceable with good selection at a decent quality. Location was great with a five minute walk from the Termini station as well as a 15 minute walk to Colosseum. Felt safe being out early in the evening around the hotel.

    5
« Best bed I have found in Europe »

Having just completed a 4 week trip in Europe, the king size bed we encountered at this hotel was the best we found. Added bonus was the 3 euro breakfast, some sort of special they had going. We only had one night here, as we were transmitting Rome, but it was a very comfortable night.

    4
    « A decent Rome hotel! »

Me and my husband visited here as part of a recent visit to Italy. The room we stayed in was on the small side - some rooms have baths and some just have showers - we had a room with just a shower. The room itself was well furnished and in very good condition. Electronic safe in the room of a good decent size. There is a Fridge in the room but has a minibar with it. The bed is very comfortable - and I mean very comfy! Good air con. As good as a buffet style breakfast as you can get - cold meats fruits yoghurt fresh juices tea coffee to choose from. The wardrobe is on the small size for me! We had a good decent size bathroom - we just had a bathroom with a shower in - very good shower! Very clean rooms I might add! Free wifi too! All in all - a pleasant hotel to stay at - in a decent location near to the train station.

    4
    « Good location »

Stayed for few days for business trip in the city. Very good location - city center nearby termini but really quiet place. Parking on the street, a couple of rounds to drive for sure to find a place in the evening. The hotel is full of chinese, always makes troubles on the reception slowing down the service. Long corridors and if your room is far away from central elevator then be ready to get lost at least in the first day. Room was small, bed was nice, cleaning service is good. The aircon system in fact is not adjustable even if you press the buttons and it shows the changes but finally it becomes automatically centrally controlling. Staff is helpful but not smiling. Breakfast is just normally continental, nothing excited. Wifis are different for rooms and lobby which makes it inconvenient for usage.

    4
    « Comfortable hotel »

We stayed here with a tour group of 40 people. The rooms were comfortable, exceptionally clean with good amenities (coffee making service in the room, a rarity on this trip). Breakfast service was typically good, but out of our three mornings, there was one morning when the restaurant seemed understaffed and the coffee machine did not operate correctly. The hotel is pretty centrally located, near the train station, local sights and restaurants.

    3
« Comfy rooms bad customer service. »

Stayed here for a week whilst on Holiday, rooms was clean and comfy and Hotel is located in a great location. But very bad staff there customer service was very poor. I had a issue with a heater and Staff was extremely unhelpful. and didn't seem to care about my issues.

« Centrally located and comfy »

The hotel was walking distance from a lot of local sights we found looking for a place to eat. We were able to catch trains and buses by walking 5 minutes to the stations. The beggars were annoying, but they were everywhere and def. unaviodable. Great buffet breakfast and staff was friendly and accommodating.

« Centrally located in Rome »

Great hotel, very centrally located near the Main Station and easty Walk to a number of key sights. Comfortable Rooms and Friendly Staff. Great Breakfast and very friendly Service. All facilities were great and they looked after us well.

« Great Hotel, Great Location! »

The rooms are very modern and comfortable. The bathrooms are wonderful, and the location is fantastic. It is easy to get anywhere in Rome from here. There are several shops and places to eat in the neighborhood. This was my third stay in this hotel. One of my favorite in Rome.

    4
    « Nice location, small »

Nice location, clean but small. Exterior looks kind of old but inside is still relatively new. Interesting to have 2 queen bed and one was in the above loft. Good for couple who wants to share room. Got a balcony for the room, view was so so. The heater is not working and it was cold. Overall still ok

    5
« Great Location and lots of Room in Rome »

The rooms are great. Ours had a loft bedroom and lower level living room. The rooms are clean, modern and very comfortable. Great location near the train station and walking distance to the Colosseum. Lots of great restaurants around the area. Breakfast was fast and attentive. Great hotel

    4
« Great location and clean rooms »

We walked from termini train station in about 10 minutes dragging our luggage. Funny Americans! Room was small but nice no view. Breakfast was included in our rate (100 per night) and was mediocre. The best thing about this hotel is that you can walk to major sites within about 20 minutes. A tour bus group stayed there and I ciuld see that check in and out could be a problem. But it wasn't for us.

    2
    « Very disappointing »

First night, we couldn't fault it. The 3 nights we stayed after were entirely different. WiFi in our room didn't work, staff didn't seem to care, breakfast average, corridor and plumbing were noisy couldn't shut door without slamming it. There was also a constant dripping noise.

    4
« Nice hotel, Centrally located »

We started our Europe trip from Italy and best Western universo is the first hotel we stayed. It's located within 5 minute walk from the central termini in Rome, which is the main station that connect you to everywhere. The location is good and close to many restaurants. We book for a standard room but looks like we hot up graded to duplex room which is very spacious for just the 2 of us. The bedroom located on the upper floor, bath room and living room on lower floor. The bed, bathroom and the amenities are all good. The down side on this hotel is just that the receptionist is not really polite, their cold, no smile at all and don't really fit for a receptionist where usually becomes the first impression of the whole hotel.

    3
    « Terrible, unprofessional service »

Though my room was comfortable, spacious and well equipped, this hotel is hugely let down by extremely poor customer service. I regularly saw persons waiting at reception whilst staff simply ignored them or continued in private conversations. The attitude displayed clearly indicated that guests were seen as an inconvenience. Breakfast was very ordinary (though given the price it did represent good value for money). Overall, very disappointing. My advice would be to stay elsewhere.

    « Good location , 3star hotel, good price »

Pros: 1. Good breakfast buffet, fast and efficient restaurant staff 2.near all tourists area and important churches/Vatican , shipping area, bus and train terminal walking distance 3.good price for location 4. Loud but helpful front desk staff Cons: 1.small rooms:typical of European hotel 2.very small elevator...take 10-15min to go up to the room and go down To lobby 3.non existence of concierge staff

    « Perfecto! »

I stayed in this hotel for one night for a whistle stop tour of Rome. It was perfect for my needs, very close to the train station but within walking distance to the colloseum. The staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful which is always welcome as a solo traveller. The room was very comfortable and quiet and very clean. Breakfast was just 3 Euros and was great quality. Would highly recommend.

    5
« Location and values are excellent »

The hotel is just couple of blocks away from the railway station Termini (in which TH train form the airport arrives). There are as well plenty of buses and a subway. And if walking does not bother you, you are just 10-15 minutes from the colosseum and the Altare della Patria. The room was spacious, breakfast selection is wide enough, there is a small sauna and hammam as well. Everything was spotless in the room when we returned daily from our city tour. Quiet stay with a nice staff. We definitely recommend it.

    2
    « Very poor service »

We stayed in this hotel for 2 days while in rome, rooms were very clean, breakfast was just ordinary, there was a man who checked it's in and out who was very rude to say the least,be aware of the hidden charge we were charged 6 Euro per person per night, and we were not told about this when we asked why this charge was this man just said "this is rome" .

    5
    « Good location »

Hotel is in a great location. walking and traveling. it is a 10 minutes walk from Termini and Metro station for Line A and B. Breakfast is great - the only down points of the breakfast is the lack of cutlery - every morning we had to ask for folks and knives as they were not on the table and not in breakfast bar. Also we had limited tap water available and each time we asked for more water waiters brought 2 or 3 bottles places in the middle of the bar where it was consumed by guest very quickly. We stayed in Room 735 - no much view :-(.

    5
« Great location in the center of Rome »

We went to Rome on a family vacation last week and stayed here for 6 nights. We got helped by Roberta in the front desk and was very professional and helpful. The hotel seems small from the outside and lobby area, but in reality it is big with several conference rooms and fitness/spa facilities. There were several conferences every day during our stay so the hotel was always full of people. I was surprised by the gym area which is very big with new machines, and the sauna, steam room, and showers look brand new and were very clean. We stayed in a triple room number 629. Our room was in a corner, so we got two big windows with good views. The best part of the room is that it has 2 elegant full bathrooms, one with a bathtub, double sinks, and toilet; and the other one has 2 showers, one sink and toilet (this is a big bonus). The rooms were cleaned every day, special thanks to Cristobal and the Filipino lady who took care of our rooms. They were very detailed oriented and extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a variety of hot/cold selection and a great deal for just $3.35. You will not get this deal anywhere in the city. We also had lunch and dinner in the hotel and the food was good and the staff very attentive. The only thing I would recommend to the hotel management is to hire more waiters specially during the night shift. The wait was a bit long, but that's because you were short staffed. I saw the same one waiter helping the bar, room service and dining room area at the same time, too much for one employee. The hotel is very clean and in a great location, with many restaurants and small stores around it. We only had to walk a block to get our City Sightseeing double deck bus which was a big plus, and it's located 3 blocks from Termini station. Our experience with Hotel El Universo was very good, and will come back on our next trip to beautiful Rome. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay a pleasant experience. To the hotel leadership, you need to hire more employees for the front desk and dinning areas.

    « Well located, but a bit of a let-down »

I stayed for one night, 24-25 March, 2016; for pleasure. I selected this hotel because it was close to Termini, the principal train station in Rome, and the terminal stop of the Leonardo Express train from Rome Airport (Fiumicino) in Rome. The hotel is indeed close to Termini, and is easily reached from the train station. The hotel itself is well located, and the check-in staff are super-friendly. The proximity to Termini means access to the major underground and overground rail hub in Rome, which is very convenient. Also, the train station offers a lot by way of shopping and late-night eating options, although the food there is generally grim! I was not that enthusiastic about the room that I got allocated. It was small and dark. It was supposed to be a "Junior Suite for 2 people with King size bed elegantly furnished. 32 square mts on two levels with living area. Some with terrace or balcony overlooking Rome". Perhaps the room structure was the problem. The split-level rooms end up being very small, because the bed almost entirely fills the upper area, and the lower area doesn't have a function, as there is no sofa, just a desk. The structure and furnishings did not seem very elegant to me! The small balcony had a view to the wall of the building next door.... However, the shower was glorious, and the breakfast was extensive and very good.

    4
« Mixed feelings but overall good »

My family and me stayed here for 5 nights. Pros: Generally clean hotel. Rooms are decently sized...well at least the junior suite I was in. Rooms serviced daily. Breakfast is only €3/day. A block away from the train station and Sightseeing Bus terminal which is very handy. Location is pretty good...10 min or less Uber ride from most sites if you need speed. Just remember to explore the area as Barberini fountain was not a very far walk and I only realised this while on the open top bus tour. Santa Maria Maggiore church is a block or two away...really beautiful and humbling. Great little restaurants within a minute's walk...Cafe Washington...amazing Gelato especially the coconut and the pistachio ones!...and Alessio...good prices, great food and service and atmosphere, and superb creme brulee! Front desk ladies like Roberta were amazingly friendly and helpful. Laundry is awesome...sent some t-shirts in and they came back in a box perfectly pressed with a scent bag...a nice surprise. To buy water, we found one of the little shops across the street quite convenient. Cons: I was on the 2nd floor...one always smelled smoke in the passage which was super annoying. People were always smoking right outside the entrance to the hotel which was ridiculous and management should do something about that nonsense. Breakfast was fair...had the basics...ask for cappuccinos etc. as the machine coffee is awful. Also, staff are very slow to reset the tables at breakfast. En suite bathrooms were spacious...just quite dated...but clean and no problems etc. Hardly any English language channels on tele and channels all over the place...wish they sorted them better.

« Decent hotel well situated »

Stayed two nights on a GRJ holiday. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the station in a busy side street (although quiet at night). Main Rome tourist sites are a good 30-45 minutes walks away. The room was ok with a good-sized shower in the bathroom and the room was quiet. Bed was large and comfortable. The groups breakfast was fairly average on both days - a bit mediocre in choice and quality. On both days many things were not replaced unless asked for and to this day we have no idea what flavour the fruit juice actually was. Overall it was ok, but no more than that.

    5
    « Really good hotel »

Having in mind Rome and its varying standards I was not expecting much in this hotel. However, it was real surprise when I came in. Rooms are nice, new and modern (although not too big). bed was comfortable, bathroom nice and clean. Breakfast offered good choice of cold dishes (and some warm ones). There is free Wi Fi. Location is good (few minutes from train stations linked with fast connection to airport as well as few minutes from large number of buses and Metro line). Only area where improvement could be useful are the staff on front desk which are not interested in guests.

    4
    « Great location »

This hotel is indeed in an excellent location, a short walk away from the Termini train station and several Metro stations. The room was large and very clean and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was stunning and modern and had everything you need. The breakfast was more than adequate and the variety of foods served every dietary requirement, pastries, cereals, cooked food and was constantly being refilled, the only problem we had was difficulty in finding cutlery but you only had to ask and it was refilled. We never had a problem finding a table having said that we were at breakfast quite early and it was pretty much always quite busy. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The area around the hotel has an amazing amount of restaurants and bars and you have more than enough choice for a week's stay. All in all a very pleasant stay would definitely recommend this hotel for a city break or a longer stay.

« Good Place to Stay »

A very nice hotel with good service and well located in Rome walking distance from the Termini. Made it easy to get around and lots of restaurants close by. It's also a close walk to the Metro so transportation is very convenient. The hotel staff is very helpful.

    3
« Poor location unless you are traveling by train and staying a day or so »

Stayed with a student group in mid-March. Rooms are fine and breakfast fine. BUT BUT there are NO bank ATM locations -- can you believe it, next to the Termini? A big issue. Also, everyone relied on cabs and Uber because events and sites and activities are FAR!!!!!! So, beware that Piazza Navonna, etc....$10+ one way. Subway not desirable, as Rome is now filled with transients and you may not feel secure on public transit.

    5
    « Highly recommend »

Brilliant hotel. All the staff very pleasant. Rooms were clean modern and spacious. Good location for trains and buses. Breakfast was really nice and plenty on offer. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. Would highly recommend this hotel to visit Rome.

    4
« Convenient for station, a bit out of city centre »

This hotel was very friendly and had good facilities. It was a fair walk to the centre of Rome, and unfortunately not an attractive route. It was generally quiet and very convenient for railway station for late arrivals or early departures

    5
    « Excellent location »

The Hotel is in an excellent location for seeing the attractions of Rome. It is within easy walking distance of the Coliseum and Termini. The Metro and train system (Termini station) are a very inexpensive way to travel around Rome to all the main tourist attractions (the best option is a 1 or 2 day pass which is for the buses trams and Metro). The train from the airport (Leonardo Da Vinci Express) is only 14 Euros and very simple to use. One word of caution is to ensure that you validate your ticket (self stamp) before you board or you can be fined 200 Euro! The self service ticket machines take cash or cards and are in several languages. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and when we arrived had placed a gift sent by my daughter for our birthdays in the room prior to arrival (cake and Champagne on ice). The breakfast was also very good continental or cooked self service buffet and was only 3 Euro. Only drawback for me was there was no English language TV available (didn't go to Rome to watch TV in the room but a News channel would have been good at the end of the day). Next to the hotel was a shop selling some beautiful Murano glass and a small Restaurant at which we had a lovely meal and an excellent bottle of wine. You will pay 18 Euro and up for a bottle and about 5 Euro and up for a beer (pretty much the same in every place we went. Good quality hotel in good location with good WIFI.

    « Beautiful »

The hotel features a spa area, complete with a sauna, well-equipped gym. The spacious and modern lobby has comfortable sofas and leads into the elegant Salone Costantino music lounge. This Best Western Hotel is just feet from the Opera Theatre and a 5-minute walk from Via Nazionale, a famous shopping street. All other areas can be easily reached from Termini Station

    5
« Reaasonable price and great location and service »

The room is very modern, including the bathroom. Very quiet at night. Excellent breakfast. The hotel is located several blocks from Termini Rail Station for easy access to all parts of Italy and the rest of Europe. The street contains at least 10 Italian restaurants. The staff is pleasant and helpful.

    4
« Close to Train Station »

This is a nice place extremely close to the train station which is very convenient if you are planning on leaving town to hit a few other beautiful cities in Italy. The rooms are small and he configuration of our room was bizarre, but we would stay here again. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but is nice inside. Hope you like two twin beds being put together to make a queen. Very uncomfortable if you like to be close to your significant other.

    4
    « Good value for the $ »

Its a great location, the rooms are clean, and the staff is helpful. The buffet breakfast for 3 Euros is a GREAT deal, even if you just have cappuccinos from their machine. They also have yogurts, fruit, pastries, cheeses and some hot dishes (scrambled eggs, etc.). We were there 5 nights and by the 5th breakfast I was tired of it, but it fills the gap and sends you out into the streets of Rome with energy.

« Excellent Location and Value »

Stayed 13 nights and had a fantastic hospitality experience. I would like to especially thank Vincenzo and Michele for placing us into the best room possible, and their consistent professionalism. Room Tip: we stayed in a second floor Junior Sweet with Turkish steam bath shower. These rooms are very spacious and modern. The Universo is located 300 meters from the Roma Termini, getting there from the airport is very simple. The area also has excellent dining possibilities, however, many street vendors make the dining experience difficult when sitting outdoors. I would therefore suggest seeking a roof top terrace, the Diana Hotel across the street has the roof top gardens where one can see the Vatican and the sun setting over it and Rome. Breakfast is good, but needs more variety, the service however is impeccable, please tip, we didn't see anyone tip the waiting staff although they work very hard to meet every need. Only one issue I have is that the cleaning is inconsistent, especially on the weekend. The room was not vacuumed on many days. The WiFi is exceptionally fast.

« Nice stay in Rome »

I am just finishing up a 28 night stay at this hotel. The location is excellent. It is in the heart of the thriving city centre. There is good access to public transportation. It is within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. My room was modern, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast was good. The restaurant service was excellent led by Marco, Momo, and the rest of the staff.

    « Comfortable »

Nice hotel with easy access to major attractions and Termini train station. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Staff are very helpful and they are available to answer our questions and guide us for directions at any time. Some were a bit small in size but contain all amenities needed for any client.

« Nice And quiet Hotel close to Stazione Termini »

This is a typical Chain-hotel. We chosed a. superior twin room. According to the website, that means a refurbished/renovated room. And it was fresh, clean and spacious with an elegant and comfortable bathroom. Very nice beds and a modern aircondition. Breakfast were very typical and to lur satisfaction. They also had gluten-free bread and biscuits. And everythings else that you wish usch as egg, bacon, fresh fruit, yoghurt, etc. We were 4 persons in 2 rooms on first floor. One room towards the street and one room against the backyard. The room against the street were quiet. It is a local street without passing traffic. The other room were with a booring view into the ventilationequipment. Another remarcable fact is the plumbing. You can hear every guest usingt the bathrooms above! However, we would probably chose this hotel again but make sure to have a room on the top floor. Location is nice with buses going everywhere in Rome. Colloseum is just 20 minutes walk away and a lot of buses takes you down to Centro Storico if you don't walk.

    « Great location & Comfortable Hotel »

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is centrally located, being only few minutes away from the metro station, as well asto via Nationale - a shopping street that takes you to some of Rome's most recognizable monuments. There are many restaurants and cafes near the hotel, as well as souvenir shops. The hotel is very clean and the room very comfortable. The bathroom had all the needed amenities, and it was spacious. The breakfast had a variety of items. However, I felt it was missing some non-pork cold cuts, especially for someone who doesn't eat pork. The waiters and waitresses were always happy to help. The hotel was very quiet, which was exactly what I was looking for after a long day of walking and sightseeing. I highly recommend it!

« Great place and location »

The location is perfect, less than 5 mins from Termini... The hotel was very big, full of people and surprisingly it was so quiet... And I loved that ?? The rooms was super clean, the bathroom had everything you needed (the tiles was sooo amazing, the mattress and the pillow were very comfortable... The staff was very friendly and nice... I really loved it... If I ever go back to Rome, I'll stay at this hotel for sure ??

« Not that good hotel »

Wifi connection is very poor. Breakfast is worst. Very near to railway station. Staff is helpful. Room is cosy. Clean hotel. I can say the hotel is overall just fine but they have to work on breakfast and Wi-Fi

    « Pleasant »

It was a very pleasent experience. The hotel is of central location/well-located. You can reach a variety of sites. People are helpful and very friendy. Rooms are clean and well-equipped. Breakfast is not very varied, though.

    « Big Room For $ People »

Hotel was very nice but the staff was not as welcoming or friendly as we are used to. It was almost as if we were a bother to them. The City Tax they charge you at the end is totally ridiculous. This should be charged at the beginning when you book your room not during check out. And they should offer conditioner for the hair not just shampoo. Someone with long thick hair like myself cannot not use conditioner. There breakfast is reasonably priced for the selection that is offered.

    « Excellent »

Very well kept hotel. Nice and clean. Rooms are modern and clean. The breakfast is very good with all the right items to start the day. The hotel is in a very good location very close to termini and all the main attractions. There are very good restaurants around especially the one opposite the hotel. We walked every were even to the vatican. On the whole it was a a really great stay and hope to visit Rome again in the same hotel.

« Clean and nice hotel »

Nice and clean, very polite and helpful reception staff. Good breakfast and again staff is very friendly. TV in the room was playing up a little but who comes to Rome to watch TV? Beds are super comfortable.

« Good location...walking distance to most things. »

We went with a group. Some rooms are much bigger than others. Check when reserving your room. Our room was very small, but much like a regular NYC boutique hotel room. Breakfast was standard fare. We had a very nice welcome dinner for our group. Good place for a base for seeing the sites.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

This is a lovely hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable. It is ideally situated for site-seeing and you are about five minuets walk away from the train and metro stations.

    « It's all about the location »

Visiting Rome (again) for the England v Italy Six Nations rugby game which also coincided with a friends 60th birthday party. Usually we rent an apartment but because of the group we were part of we opted for this hotel. Although it is now part of a large chain it has retained its individuality. Lounges and dining room are all very well set out with modern and new looking furniture. The artwork is also interesting. Staff are very professional, friendly and helpful particularly in the bar which can get busy in the evening. Our room on the fourth floor (435 I think) was clean, comfortable and, because it had a bath and shower, the bathroom was a very good size. A free safe is also a bonus. The view from the window left a lot to be desired however because it looked out over the central atrium which was like a bombsite. Surely a little bit of effort to tidy it up isn't too much to ask? On the other hand, our friends with rooms looking onto the street said that the traffic noise was a problem for them at night. The room temperature was a problem and we all had to open the windows because it was impossible to switch off or control the heating. Not very environmentally friendly I'm afraid. Buffet breakfast is the usual scrum you find in large hotels like this but I thought the food was more than adequate in variety and quality and usually kept restocked. At peak periods you might find it hard to get a table. The title of this review provides the main reason for selecting this hotel because it is so close to the bus Metro and train station. You are also not too far from the main sights if you are willing to walk, which we are and clocked up over 9 miles one day. There are so many little bars and restaurants in the vicinity you won't find it difficult to find one that suits you, we certainly didn't. A word of warning, if you use the tram service keep your hand on your valuables because the scumbag pickpockets, that Rome police seem unable to get rid of, frequent it. A member of our group lost her phone and purse despite our warnings to her because she put them in her hoody front pocket and didn't keep her hand on them. One little event in the hotel amused us all. Early evening we were enjoying a drink and a laugh near the bar when a bloke came out of an adjacent room and asked us to keep quiet because he was talking to a conference! Although it was pointed out that this was a bar adn not a library we did the English thing and apologised and moved elswhere.

    « Honeymoon break »

Very impressed. Free upgrade to junior suite, nice touch as we were on a mini honeymoon! Couldn't fault anything about the hotel and the location is perfect! Spent our days sightseeing, eating and drinking! We'll be back!!

« Excellent Location; Clean and Comfortable »

This hotel is modern and the food has been very good (breakfast). Located blocks from the termini train station, which is so convenient from the airport and to all locations in Rome. We took the trenitalia to Venice and Florence easily. I traveled with my four kids and my wife. We had two rooms near each other. Bathrooms were very clean. Staff was extremely helpful. A hidden five star hotel, with a four star rating.

    « 3 night stay »

We stayed here with 4 other couples for the Italy V England Six Nations rugby game. The hotel is located in a great spot, 15-20 mins walk from a lot of tourist hot spots such as Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps a few mins more. 2 mins walk away from the hotel is the Terminus where you can catch an open top bus to see all the sights for about 16 Euros, haggle for price it will pay off. The rooms were very clean & comfortable. Breakfast was good, the usual continental plus more if you can eat it! A bottle of bear was €3.50 which I thought was very cheap! Lots of cafes & restaurants near to choose from. It was such a nice stay we are thinking of returning! Well done!!!

« No complaints at all »

Stayed as part of a group of seven couples for the rugby (and coincidentally, Valentines Day!). Rooms were excellent - more room than you usually get in a similarly priced city centre hotel. Modern decor, very clean. Buffet style breakfast was excellent with a very wide choice. Location was good - railway station and metro within 500m. Most of Rome's attractions were within walking distance - the Vatican City perhaps the only one not within easy range. A good variety of bars and restaurants very close by. We are already planning a return visit for the Italy/England game in 2018 and wouldn't hesitate to stay in The Universo again.

    5
    « Can't fault it »

Just completed a 3 night stay for the rugby. The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Rome and close to all transport links. My modern single room was on the small side but was well furnished with a comfortable bed and a very good shower. I disagree with other reviewers and found the buffet breakfast more than adequate with a good variety of hot and cold food fresh fruits and pastries. Would recommend and will revisit the next time I'm in Rome.

    3
« Good location and prper price »

Room is clean and comfortable enough to meet the international standard. But the breakfast is a kinda without soul. Just think about the location and you'll be satisfied compared to the price. Recommedable for business traveller or group tourists' group.

« Great hotel, nice location. »

A very nice hotel, it was very clean and the staff were very nice. We left our bags in a locked closet in the lobby so we could walk around Rome before we checked in. We stayed in a family room it was large and the kids slept on a fold out couch. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very big and nice. Breakfast was included and it was a very nice buffet breakfast with meats, fruits, breads, ect. The location was great close to the termini but not too close. We had no problem walking to Trevi fountain and the colosseum but we did catch a taxi back to the hotel for 12 euro. Very nice place I would stay there again.

    1
    « Cheap in Everyway »

I would not stay here if someone paid me to. It was extremely dirty, unfriendly staff, broken T.V, dingy looking hotel and not a 4 star as they advertise. The best part abou the place was it was near the train station but its a pretty questionable area especially at night.

« Pricy hotel for the service »

Good place near Termini railways station. I stayed one night in this hotel. People at the desk were nice and quick in checking in. I had a room at the 7th floor. Even if there were 3 lift I had always to wait any time I used them. THe room was large and well equipped as described on the Hotel.com reservation website. There was a large balcony, unfortunately unuseful for me (winter and on bussines trip). The bathroom was large and clean. What I appreciated the most was the high speed WiFi. The breakfast had a large selection of cold and hot (not really hot) food. Serving people was kind and smiling. The hotel looks old (perhaps it is). The suits of the serving people was worn and oversized. The hotel is good but I do not suggest it unless you find a reduced price for the room (less than 125 € I paid for 1 night).

« Great hotel at a great location »

The Hotel is located centrally and all local attractions are near by. Hotel is well maintained, rooms were neat and clean and the highlight was the food. The staff was very courteous. They had some problem in speaking English but helped me in every possible way.

« Great location, opulent rooms »

Had an amazing stay at the Best Western Universo. It's in a great location, a few minutes' walk from Termini Station and surrounded by restaurants and a few attractions. The rooms are tiny, but they're very comfortable, with large balconies, huge windows and comfortable beds. Room had a great, big-screen TV with a USB port which allowed us to watch our own movies. Decent WiFi, gorgeous bathroom.

« Clean and friendly hotel »

We stayed here for Christmas 2015 2 adults and 3 children. The ease of getting here with the Express Train from the airport was the attraction. Well located and just close enough to the action. The hotel is a little dated, but makes up in friendly staff and clean rooms. We were upgraded to two connecting rooms. The breakfast is OK, not what we are accustomed too but ok for a start to the day. We never ate in the hotel for lunch or dinner so can't comment on those meals. The hotel as advertised is close to the central station which helped us get around Rome. Overall a good stay.

« Expensive but worth it »

I have been in Rome 4 times in the past 3 years and the Universo is one of the most spacious and clean hotels in Rome. If you are used to more westernized accomidation then this is the hotel for you. It feels safe and the staff are helpful. Most comfortable bed that I have slept in in Italy. It has a big bathroom, and a good resturant. The location next to the train station is excellent. I reccommended it to my aunt and uncle when they came through Rome this October and they loved it as well.

« Nice clean hotel close to everything you want to see in Rome »

This hotel is very well-located. It is a few meters from the railway statation Roma Termini which is the final stop for the Express airport train. It is in the heart of downtown and is close to all main attractions in Rome. It is very clean and the staff is friendly. They offer a nice buffet breakfast. The only thing I did not like was that I had to check out at 11:00 am All in all, this is a very good hotel for the price they charge.

With very convenient location (5 min to Termini) you can visit all major attractions of Rome by foot or metro. Helpful staff. Rooms are modern, well equiped and clean. Cant remember any deficiencies. Breakfast buffet offers italian-style croissants and also chesse, meet, eggs, sausages, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cakes and very good coffee.

    « Small or Cozy? »

I traveled with a large group but without a roommate. I had a room on the seventh floor which was the only floor that had single rooms. The room was very small with a twin size bed pushed against a wall. I was there for only two nights so I didn't unpack. Actually, I had no choice because there were no drawers. More space was allotted to the bathroom which was large with a walk-in shower. There was a small balcony which somewhat made up for the tiny room. My travel companions on other floors didn't have balconies so they may only come with single rooms. Guests receive an Italian for travelers handbook which was a nice touch. I only had the breakfast buffet in the restaurant. It was crowded and very busy which gave me the feel of being in a cafeteria. The food was average. The room started to grow on me after a few hours. Rather than cramped, the room felt cozy. At least for two days.

    « Good hotel »

This was a good hotel. The staff was all very nice and accommodating for we americans. Since we were traveling as a family of 4 with 2 kids, 10 and 12, they were able to upgrade us to two connecting rooms. Awesome! Mucho appreciated. And the breakfast buffet was amazing. Are you kidding me?! Prosicutto at the buffet! My kids were in heaven. Best breakfast buffet ever. Gotta love Italy!

« Good hotel to stay near Termini »

We chose this hotel because of good access to all the means of transportation and rooms seemed to have equipped with a bathtub. When we checked in, however, a "superior room" assigned to us had only a shower. The staff was very accommodating and made a room with a tub available for us. The room was clean and spacious for Europe although we would have liked more closet space for a 5-night stay. Wi-fi signal was not very strong in our room. Breakfast was good. We would recommend this hotel.

    « Vacation in Rome »

This was an excellent location for us. Easy to get to by train from FCO airport, several Metro stops nearby and walkable to many points of interest. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, clean and modern. Internet worked well. Air conditioning worked very well, we had a little trouble getting it just right for us, but after trying various fan and temp. settings we finally were satisfied. Breakfast food quality was good. Lots to choose from. Even at the busy times things were replenished in a timely fashion. Staff was friendly and accomodating. The bathroom towel warming rack developed a crack and leak during our stay late one evening. Front desk sent up someone to look at it. He did a quick fix, and then in the morning maintenance waited for us to leave for the day, and it was replaced. Very quick and effecient. Very satisfied with our stay and would recommend this location highly.

« Nice surprise near Termini Station »

A very nice hotel in a bustling area that's a couple of blocks from the Termini Station, but on a side street that's not as noisy, and lined up with a bunch of other hotels. The hotel was very clean, modern business look with all the amenities needed for a comfortable and safe stay. King size bed, safe, coffee maker, solid free wifi in the room, breakfast included and a business center so you can print out tickets, etc. Try to get a room on the higher levels that way if you want to open the windows the noise wont be as much. A very comfortable stay, and the staff was very professional and friendly. their suggestions for dinner was spot on. And their suggestions for planning the visit were immensely helpful. Would definitely stay here again. A great value and a very pleasant and comfortable stay!

« Came Home to an Open Room Door »

I got back to my room where my mom, sister and I were staying and my sister found our door opened, not even locked in. This was very disconcerting so I gave a formal letter to the front desk who was dismissive of my complaint and did not act on it despite my immediate request in writing. It is very nerve wracking to return to your room opened up. We had just come from another Best Western, Hotel Galles, and was surprised by the sarcastic, dismissive and non-responsive reply by their front desk, manager, and Twitter accounts. My uncle and aunt who were in another room were alarmed. We were told to go to the police station but had no time as we had to fly to Paris in 11 hours and had to pack our bags. My family were so tired from walking for 7 hours around Rome and the Vatican. The hotel itself is very clean, the rooms are very nice and comfortable, and the bath tub and toilets were well kept. Aside from the incident, and that the formal letter of complaint I left at the front desk having not been acted on, I would've enjoyed my stay more.

« Beware of Security Risk and Unhelpful Staff »

On the last night of our trip, I got to hotel room and discovered that the door was open. As I approached the room, I could see that the deadbolt was used to prop the door open (most likely when the room was cleaned) and left open. I did not have to use my key and just pushed the door open. (Caveat: The picture included is a reenacted one for the purpose of discussion since I trust that if they reviewed their security footage they would see that I just pushed the door open without a key.) Since I was not feeling well, I asked a family member to report this security risk to the Hotel management. Rather than attempt to resolve the problem, the staff was irritable and rude. The lack of security measures in a well known hotel chain is shocking and anyone considering staying here should be warned. The bad food was to be expected, you get what you pay for but you would think that Best Western would be concerned about the security of its guests.

    « A 'short but sweet' stay »

A 2 night stay here made our trip to Rome very pleasurable indeed. Staff welcoming / friendly / helpful. Room (5th floor) smart, comfortable, well maintained, quiet. Lift access very good. Bed gave us two good nights rest. Bathroom smart. Shower very good. Bit of a drain smell but this didn't affect bedroom at all. Buffet style breakfast had plenty of variety to start off the day. Restaurant (used both nights) served very nice food with 'on par with home' prices. Can recommend the Pinot Grigio the have on the wine menu! Location; 15min walk to Colosseum, 50min walk to Vatican. Is very near Termini station for those arriving / departing that way. If returning to Rome we would happily book another stay here. Tip on Rome in general; If planning a trip, get yourself a T-shirt that says "No! I don't want to buy a flaming 'selfie stick' ". Might just save you saying it... time and time again.

« Great hotel and great location. »

Stayed here with husband and 12 yo son. We arrived at 1pm and were able to check right in which was great. Triple room was a good size and access to balcony was great. Wifi access fine in the rooms. Breakfast had lots of choice, fruit, cereals, bakery goods and hot food. Lots to eat. Attractions all within 20-25 mins walk. We did need a taxi for an early Vatican tour and the lady on reception pointed us to the taxi rank outside the door. I asked how much it might be - she said €20. Almost as an afterthought she said, don't get in one without a meter. When we went out a few drivers moved towards us and we got in the one parked right outside the door. They all had the 'official taxi' sign on the door. He had a six seater with the middle front seat pushed forward so couldn't see his meter. I showed him a very specific meeting place and we got in and he set off. The he asked me did I want St. Peter's or the museum. I said I wanted the place I had just shown him. We asked where his meter was and he said - no problem €25 to Vatican. We said no and asked him to stop and let us out. We walked back to the hotel and asked them to call us a taxi. 2 mins later ours arrived. It cost €12!! Two things - be careful in taxis without meters and I think the hotel should really have suggested we call one. We had asked to book one but were told they only take airport bookings. Aside from this the hotel was just what we needed with great restaurants around. We would stay here again and will definitely be coming back to Rome.

« Wonderful Stay in Roma, Italy »

Great location! This hotel is updated and very close to the main train and bus station. We stayed there three nights. We arrived early about 11 or so and they checked us in without any problems. We got a big room everything and more then we expected. Really enjoyed there breakfast buffet. A lot of breads, meats, fruits, and plenty to drink. Got spoiled by their breakfast. Only complaint is that we were not told at check-in exactly how much tax they were going to charge. We told the tax amount at the time of check-in at the other hotels we stayed at while in Itlay. My husband asked the night before we were to leave and they didn,t want to discuss it until we were checking out. Very high taxes, 8 euros per person per night. We expecting maybe 5 euros.

    « Ok »

The inside of the hotel is really nice. It has a second story loft, huge bathroom with rain shower, double sink, toilet and bidet. Close to the Coloseum, Vatican City, Trevi fountain. Etc. Hop on hop off tourist bus are around the corner. My only complaint about this hotel....they let their guest smoke right in front of the door. When you check in all you smell is someone's cigarette smoke. It's not only annoying but it smells bad. By the time we got into our room...we had to change because we smelled like smoke. I spoke to the hotel staff about it...apparently they could care less. Close to all restaurants and pubs... Free breakfast.

« Well located for travellers who want to explore Rome »

Two night stay as part of a group travelling through Italy. The hotel is well located with walking access from Rome Termini station. It's also easy to walk down Via Cavour to most of the central sights: it's not too far and hard to get lost. There are plenty of local restaurants tucked around the area so you don't have to go too far for a good meal or a drink either. As the hotel public areas are rather sparse and austere these are probably better bets for some evening atmosphere and close enough to be secure. The room we stayed in was quite basic and dark. It faced the interior square of the hotel so we had views of the hotel roof and air conditioning units so travellers coming to Rome may want to ensure they get a front facing room for a better view although this didn't cause us any noise problems. The room we stayed in had not been completely serviced: there were used towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door when we arrived. The bathroom plumbing is also quite antiquated so was not the best for showering. There was a good selection of items in the breakfast buffet though the coffee is from a machine so wasn't the best and the staff not that prompt at resetting tables or replenishing buffet items. The wholewheat croissants filled with honey were a revelation though and were totally irresistible. The hotel provided basic comfort and cleanliness so was fine as a transit hotel but the amenities, service and comfort of the public areas were not the best so I'm not sure I would choose it as a destination hotel if visiting Rome again.

    « Book early »

This hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of Roma Termini, the major railway station. Just make sure that you have your directions and that you know which exit to take, as some of the sidewalks are stone, and difficult even with rolled suitcases. We booked approximately 2 months in advance and we able to book a king bed. Unbeknownst to us, the room came with a large balcony, with balcony furniture. This was a surprise and definitely appreciated after a hard day of sightseeing. Our room had a refrigerator and coffee in the room. The breakfast is excellent, with an assortment of meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, breads, fruits, coffee and juices. The breakfast was included in the room rate. There are many, many restaurants within a two block radius. There is a reasonable market a couple of doors down with wine and beer and a bigger one about 5 blocks away. Fast and free internet, but bring adapters as there are no US plugs. Modern decor and a great bathroom shower. This is a great central location. It was quiet and the bed was great.

« Great stay at BW Universo »

The hotel was very nice, just steps away from Termini train atation and from Rome best attractions. The room was huge, modern and clean with Sattelite TV and free wifi internet which worked very well. The breakfast was instead not really good but not bad either.

    « October 21 visit »

Internet service keeps dropping and is not very strong. Travelers need internet to communicate with others on their trip, to obtain directions and contact home. Too bad... Rooms are small but nice... Wish the internet worked better.

« Just What We Wanted »

We will definitely use this hotel again. Our room was spotless, and very quiet as requested. Loved the balcony, although we did not have a view. Breakfast was very good. Helpful staff. Great location for Termini and the city sights. Very easy to use this hotel as a base for exploring Rome or for taking the train to other cities.

« Very good hotel with an excellent staff »

I have an excellent day at this hotel. I spent 3 nights here, and the desk agent was able to give me an early check in and I was upgraded to a junior suite. This week was very nice, but I must give a warning that the Junior Suite is a mezzanine, so you must go up and down stairs to get to the bed area. Other than that the room is excellent and quite large. The staff is very friendly, and the hotel is very well - situated near the Termini train station.

« Perfect situation for a short stay in Rome »

After an early morning start from Heathrow, we arrived at the hotel around 1pm. The staff on reception were welcoming and friendly and we were delighted to be upgraded to a Junior Suite, which we could check into straightaway. This was on two levels and had the added bonus of a balcony. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable and kept immaculately during our 4 night stay. The hotel is in a great position for sightseeing, with Termini station being a few minutes walk away, giving access to the Metro, local buses, the hop on/hop off buses and, of course, the trains. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from in the vicinity but the hotel had good restaurants should you choose not to go out. The buffet breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice for all tastes. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Rome.

« Great Stay in Rome »

The hotel met all our needs. Loved that it was less than a 5 minute walk to the Termini! Location was great for our needs. We arrived about 1 p.m. and was able to check into our room which was a bonus. Had room with 2 twin beds which we requested as I was traveling with my son. Staff was friendly, especially, Vincenzo at the front desk. His English was good. We walked practically everywhere throughout the City Center - Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. About a 20-25 minutes to wherever we walked. However, due to time constraints, we had to taxi it to the Vatican City. Yes there was some water leakage in the bathroom from the shower due to the design, but not a big issue. During our visit, the temperature was over 90 every day. Kept the window drapery closed in order to keep the heat out of the room. The AC in room was adequate but not great. Breakfast was good, typical buffet style.

« City hotel in near central Rome, stroll away from Central Rail Station »

Refurb work going on near reception and other ground floor areas was expected but was not intrusive. Our room on the 7 floor was excellent, quiet, large and comfortable together with a eye catching bathroom bordering on luxurious. It also had a large terrace and views across Rome's roof tops. Would we return to the Universo? Yes without hesitation.

« Location, Locaton, Location, and great staff. »

Just returned from Rome. Stayed at the BW Hotel Universo prior to our cruise and post cruise for two days. Excellent location if you are looking for quick and easy access to the Metro and to Termini Station. Many sites are also not far if you like to walk. The staff were always polite and courteous. Gave us good restaurant recommendations and directions. Our two rooms were larger than we expected, clean, and comfortable.

« Great for location from termini »

We stayed here last week for my birthday as a surprise trip to Rome , the hotel is really good for location , just a few roads away from termini station, so if you wanted you can walk from here rather than being ripped off in a taxi like we was as we wasn't too sure where to go , we soon found out the hotel is about 3-4 roads away ! At the time we stayed ,the hotel is under going refurbishments and was abit off putting to see and hear , but you do get over that once you start to enjoy your holiday or at least get in your room . Rooms are lovely ! Small but fairly modernised I liked the dark , colours in the room, it made it look up to date and stylish but there are a few faults we did find , 1 plug in the whole room is not Enough , especially for a young couple like us who had to take turns in charging phones or using my own hairdryer etc , luckily our European plug happened to be a twin plug ! Still we did find this highly an issue for us. The bathroom , the bathroom is lovely and once again stylish but we noticed , when washing our faces or brushing our teeth , you can't turn the tap too powerful as where the seal of the tap joins the basin/sink it decided to spray a tiny fountain of water on you aswell ! Breakfast in the hotel is okay , we decided to eat out 2 days of our 4, as it just wasn't filling enough and found it catering for British tourists abit rubbish . The cooked food , seemed to be cold or slightly warmed , that's just a preference from our behalf though and not to be used against the hotel as such. Also ! Importantly ! When checking out the hotel , please remember there is a city tax charge , so save some Euros as it costs per person per night . Overall great locationed hotel.

    « Great Hotel »

We have stayed at the Universo on all of our trips to Rome (17) and have always found the staff, the service and the room to be first class. The daily breakfast is the best you will find anywhere. The Universo is located close to the Metro and bus terminal so geting around the city and visiting other nearby cities is not a problem. We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Rome.

    « Great location. »

We stayed here for four nights and the hotel location was great. Close to Termini so really easy to get around. The hotel itself was ok, we had a lovely room with a balcony. Bathroom was quite large which was nice. Bar staff were good but each time we asked for assistance with transfer confirmation from the front desk etc it was 'too hard' we had to do it ourselves. A bit of a tour group hotel. They are renovating the entry to the hotel which wasn't a big issue but hopefully will smarten up the place a bit.
