    « Beautiful old hotel »

I would not hesitate to come back to this lovely hotel. From the moment we checked in we were made to feel at home, the lady on reception was wonderful, such a great sense of humour. Our room was large and very comfortable, in fact the bed was so good, we asked for the make as we would like one at home. The bathroom was large and modern. The double glazing was amazing, kept out all the noise from the lively restaurant across the street. Situated in the main street of this stunning village.

« Good location and service »

It's located inside the gate. The hotel provides free parking. The service is good. The price is good. The hotel is outdated. Bathroom shower was very difficult to use. Shower head won't stay upwards. The room is old, relatively clean, spacious.

    « Beau Visit »

A most enjoyable visit to this wonderful historic French town built literally into the cliff face. Our stay was comfortable, excellent service and good food. We had the fixed price €36 menu and ate on the outside terrace on a lovely warm evening. Parking is at a premium around here but they do have limited garage parking so if you are booking ahead and want your 4 wheeled pride and joy garaged overnight mention it at the time!

« Don't expect much if you go on Rail Discoveries Holiday »

Nice looking hotel at centre of Rocamadour. We have just returned from a 5 night stay on a Rail Discoveries tour. The room we were allocated was on the third floor of the building where the restaurant is. The room was small and dark with it not being possible to stand upright at the side of the bed, because it was in the roof space. Fortunately we were moved, after the first night, to a much nicer room for the rest of the stay after we complained. Bit disconcerting reading the fire safety notice that we should stand by our window and await rescue if the only access/escape route was blocked. The alternative apparently is to jump to the street 3 floors below. As far as the tours inclusive main meal is concerned do not expect any of the culinary delights the other diners at the hotel receive. Our meal was four courses. The only option was take it or leave it. The ingredients cost to the hotel must have been minimal and it very much showed. Had better school dinners. On some nights the service was poor to the point of being positively rude. We were really made to feel second class guests. Such a disappointment.

    « A hidden gem »

The location was amazing in the ancient town. So central to everything and opposite the elevator to the top. The staff couldn't be more helpful. And to have parking there in such a tiny place was so valuable to us. The room was spacious and well appointed and the restaurant was a gastronomic experience at a very reasonable price. Walk Rocamadour early before the buses arrive. We did and we saw and felt the best of this beautiful town. Am going to return in the future.

« Super hotel in perfect location »

We had a wonderful corner room, light and airy in the annex across the lane from reception. The bed and duvet super comfy. Aircon worked perfectly. Location excellent right next door to the lift to the Sanctuary. Parking was outside for 4 or 5 rows of cars 3 deep nose to tail. It was interesting watching the man juggle the cars for people leaving. The restaurant had a super views over the valley. Wi-fi fine. The bathroom and toilet were separate but the toilet had no wash hand basin so you had to walk out, around the bed and into the bathroom. In our opinion one night is sufficient time to stay in Rocamadour

    « A surprise and a great stay »

This may have been the biggest surprise of the trip. Rocamadour is a unique village that perches on a steep canyon. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff helpful and proficient. I think the "lived in" feel of the place makes it feel like home. We hope to go back soon.

    « What a disappointment! »

We stayed there as a family. Rooms were dirty, staff were unhelpful, breakfast was not even in the same building. We had dinner there the night we arrived and it was so bland.... don't waste your hard earned euro...

    « A Little Disappointing! »

Spent 2 nights here in the older building where reception is located. We were on the top floor(3rd). We had trouble getting to the hotel in our rental car. We saw the sign for the hotel but couldn't get up the street because of a block barrier. Saw a sign that said "parking" and pointed to the left so we took it and after a long drive we got to a parking lot.Thought we missed a sign pointing out the hotel, so we tried it again and the same thing happened. We couldn't figure out how to get to the hotel with the barrier blocking the street. We tried it again but this time I got out of the car, I was going. to walk to the hotel and find out where we were suppose to park while my husband stayed in the car. When I got out of the car a man came over and said "hotel", I said yes and he took the barrier down and waved us through. Then it was just seconds to the hotel with parking across the street. There's a valet who parks and gets your car for you. We had a good sized room, with 1 room that had a toilet and another with a sink and tub/shower. The room looked old but was comfortable. Had good reading lights and an AC which didn't keep the room cool at all. There was a safe in the closet. The bathroom was nice, had a big sink, large mirror and good lighting. There was a window in the bedroom but it only had a lace like window covering so the early light coming in woke you up. It was a private view so nobody could look in but I would have preferred a more solid window covering. That evening when I went to shower, one of the towels had a big stain on it and it didn't look like it was laundered. The step on garbage can was full with someone else's garbage and I came away with the feeling that the room wasn't properly cleaned. Water from the shower soaked the floor and I used a towel to wipe up the water and left the soaking towel in the tub. The next day when the room had been serviced the soaking wet towel was still in the tub and wasn't replaced with another towel. I wasn't that impressed with the housekeeping! The breakfast buffet was from 7:30-10 am in the restaurant across the street. It was very nice. Breads, croissants, muffins, fresh fruit salad, yogurts, cereals, eggs, bacon, cheese, meats, juices etc. Except for housekeeping the stay would have been nice.

« Lovely facilities and a beautiful view. Very intersting old building. »

We stayed in the anex which is a better part to be in, as the rooms were larger and modern. Our meals were outside where we had lovely views. All the meals were very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the hotel receptionist.

« Excellent location and restaurant! »

The hotel was inside La Cite Rocamadour, on the main street right next to the stairs that lead to the church and chateau built in the cliff. The location was excellent, they even had parking, the room was at most average, but the view from the window was amazing. The restaurant of the hotel was one of the best we ate during our entire trip! They had a lovely terrace full of trees and with a great view and the food was to die for. We did not take the breakfast. The city is best experienced in the evening/morning before the hordes of tourists....

    « French Charm »

We spent the first night of our holiday here with my husband. From the very moment you step in, you are taken over by the charm of this place - the building, the surroundings, the smell. Everything about this hotel is authentic. It was a fantastic start to our vacation. Just go! (And if you do, don't leave without having dined at their incredible restaurant where you will eat like a king). We simply loved it and would strongly recommend this hotel and its restaurant to everyone who is looking for the French charm.

    « Great place!! »

Wonderful hotel and wonderful staff right in the heart of Rocamadour, will definitely be back. They made us, and both our 2 Chow Chows feel very welcome and spoiled. Lots of help on hand if we needed it, and the restaurant was excellent! Looking forward to our return already. xx

    « Wonderful »

This is a beautiful hotel. It is obviously very old but the room was of a very high standard and the staff were really helpful and pleasant. We ate in the restaurant and had an absolutely superb meal. Would highly recommend this hotel and what an amazing place to visit!

    « Unique and convenient »

This hotel was built into the side of a mountain, in the center of the Notre Dame village. You follow a small narrow road from the town of Rocamadour, pass through a very narrow gate, into this little village where perfect parking is found in front of the hotel. The street is cobblestone, making it a bit difficult to roll suitcases and then up a few stairs to the hotel entrance. Noticing our difficulty, the very kind receptionist, upgraded our room so we could take the elevator and enjoy the beautiful view of the valley from the balcony. The room was large, very clean, with king bed, and large, private bathroom. This hotel is close to everything and the front desk people were more than helpful with directions and maps. The restaurant serving the hotel was directly across the street, where you could get breakfast, continental or full. they offered delicious breads, yogurt, meats, many different cheese selections, espresso coffee, and much more. A short walk to "the great stairway" to the chateau and cathedral. Visit the caves where the hermits lived back as far as 1152. Walk to the chateau on top of the mountain for the best views and then to the town itself. On return to the Best Western you find a cool air conditioned room, patio and pool areas if you like too. Bed very comfortable after the long walk. Numerous restaurants and ice cream shops near by.

« THE place to stay »

We paid a little extra to stay right in the heart of this beautiful village and it was well worth it. The hotel staff are very pleasant and the room was comfortable, well-appointed and had a fantastic view over the valley. If travelling with a car, the free parking in the centre of the village is a very welcome bonus. We would definitely stay there again.

    « Lovely stay »

We stayed two nights here in this beautiful hotel. The location is great. Our room was situated in the front of the hotel yet was very quiet. We had a sitting area. The bed was comfortable, bathroom quite large. The do have a small parking area across the street. Hotel staff were welcoming. We would return should we visit Rocamadour again. We did have dinner the first night, delicious! Breakfast was good with lots to choose from. Scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs, different meats and an assortment of cheese and bread along with cereal.

« Appalling! Horrified at the standard of this ''Hotel''! »

We stayed there mid June, a family of four with two children. I have worked as a Hotel Manager for over ten years and have never experienced such an appalling lack of professionalism, cleanliness or standards! The ''Suite'' was sold as family friendly, yet the children's bedroom had a leak and no heating (on a cold night). My Daughter fell on the puddle, the leak, and hurt her shin! The room was filthy, it had caked on fluid of some sort (the mind boggles!) on the floor. The Restaurant staff were rude to the point of aggressive. The lack of care or concern for us as clients was truly unbelievable. When I complained, it was met with an apathy, almost a sense of ''oh well, better luck next time!'' Really....avoid this establishment. I'm telling it like it is, from someone who works in the business.... it's not worth throwing any euro at this place! Truly awful. Looks lovely online, but just wait until you check in! Just terrible! :(

« Comfortable room, lovely staff »

We chose the hotel and location as a break from Paris, because we could book it using our credit card points, and the ratings were good. When we first arrived, we were a bit concerned the town was going to be a trash & trinkets tourist hamlet. But from the moment we checked in, the friendly, inviting, professional staff made us feel like we were friends of the family, coming for a visit. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There were plenty of towels, good water pressure, and though we on the street side, it was quiet with a lovely view up the hill. We never ate dinner here, preferring to explore the other local eateries, but breakfast was wonderful. The buffet had several choices of hot and cold foods, the dining room bright and sunny with stunning views and an attentive staff.

    4
    « Nice, peaceful hotel »

Our night in Rocamadour was peaceful, the hotel is nice, workers are kind and, when the tourists leave the small old village, Rocamadour is silent and amazingly illuminated. The restaurant and small parking are efficient and comfortable.

« "THE" Place to Stay! »

This place had everything one would want in Best Western Hotel. Welcoming staff, good restaurant, parking next to the hotel, and a great location. I don't think one can find a better hotel so well situated in the old town, certainly not one with free parking. Highly recommended

    5
« The parking convenience alone made it worth it!!! »

I am so glad another reviewer mentioned the convenience of having a parking lot just for hotel guests directly across the street from the hotel, complete with an attendant who parked our car for us. It made our stay there so easy. Very nice hotel with comfortable rooms, great views. The dinner we had on the outdoor terrace at the restaurant associated with the hotel was one of our best meals during the trip. Easy to walk out of the hotel and tour this ancient city given its central location. The one challenge was finding it by car - we missed a turn and ended up having to park in the petit train lot and walk up to get better directions, but the staff was very helpful once we arrived. Would definitely stay here again!

    5
    « Excellent! »

Terrific hotel, perfect location, close to everything to view in Rocamadour, free parking. Would definitely stay here again on my next visit! Breakfast was excellent, all courses, including extensive meats, eggs, fruit, breads cheeses and pastries. All staff spoke English and were very helpful.

    5
« Excellent and very pleasant hotel »

Though it is only three stars hotel, you are treated as a most important person. First, you have a parking in the "cite" where most of the cars are not allowed and next to the hotel. The rooms are nice and sufficient and the staff is kind and helpful.

    2
« Disappointing, don't go if you want a good nights slept and real cups. »

We decided to try this hotel because it was in the centre of the stunning Rocamadour in the Midi Pyrenees and being shoulder season, we decided to see what the rates offered. The Receptionist was friendly and welcoming and showed us two rooms. One for 84€ p.n. and the other normally about 120€. As it had a view over the cliffs and the courtyard we chose this one as it was offered for the same rate as the 84€ per night room. Big mistake! The floors were cheap parquet type and the shower formed the epicentre of the room, being accessible from both sides, with the toilet beside the bed. We had our dog with us and he was skidding all over the place on the flooring. Once in the toilet, it wasn't possible to close the door and I am only 5 ft 3" so it was even worse for my husband who is 6ft. Being right beside the bed, it was not ideal having to leave the door open. There were no bedside tables as the wardrobes where right beside the bed. It all felt cramped and awkward. The shower doors wouldn't open and the hot water kept fluctuating from scalding to freezing. The so called beverage facility consisted of a kettle in the wardrobe with no where to plug it in. There was one plastic cup, 2 teabags, 4 Longlife creams and some sugar and coffee sachets. It was hot and stuffy because if we opened the doors onto the courtyard, we could hear the guests in the next room and we don't like air con on all night. We declined their breakfast for 14€ per person but as nothing else was open at 0930 we ended up in the restaurant across the road having their breakfast after all. It was plentiful but we would have been happy to have found a cafe and a coffee and croissant, which is all we had anyway - a very experience croissant and cafe! At all times the staff were friendly, welcoming and courteous, but the room was a real disappointment.

« Charming Hotel in the Renowned City of Racamador »

Our tour stopped at this one of a kind city built into the Limestone cliffs of the region. We highly suggest that anyone traveling in SW Europe miss this stop. The small chapel was taken over by the Benedictine Monks and the city grew up around the monastery. It is very quaint with a charm and ambiance one would expect in this art of France. Rocamador is located on the way of St. James, so that is another added plus to stopping here. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay here.

    « Fantastic Service & Location »

We read that this was the best hotel in town and were not disappointed. We requested a room in the main hotel. When we arrived, reception was very apologetic -- said shw knew we requested the main hotel but there was aheating issue. So, she gave us the largest room in the annex overlooking the valley. We could move into the main hotel if we wanted when the heating was repaired. But, we were settled and the view was wonderful from our room so we stayed. Reception, service, restaurant people could not have been nicer. The main hotel is quaint and lots of antiques and atmosphere. But, we were happy with our comfortable room with a view. There is one road through and the hotel is in the middle of it. Comes with parking -- although you need to requst it as there are very few spaces. Since we were off-season, not a problem; but, would be an issue at a later time. Highly recommend the hotel.

« Fantastic service and great room with view. »

After the previous night spent freezing in a yurt, and after days of walking the Chemin de St Compostelle, the BW was a treat. Nadine, the hostess was wonderful and put us in a great room with a bath despite the fact that we were backpacking. With a long hike the next day, we also treated ourselves to the buffet breakfast: all the food was delicious, from the eggs to the croissants to the cheeses to the jams. Service and atmosphere were wonderful as well. We only regret not having had dinner there as well!

    5
« It is the best location »

We enjoyed our one night stay. Hotel staff was beyond excellent. Very helpful. Room large and comfortable. Parking very convenient which is important in this busy little village. We had a nice supper in the hotel restaurant and breakfast was quite good as well.

    4
« Centally Located in Rocamadour »

There's one major street through this village and this hotel is right smack in the middle of it. I stayed in several smaller hotels on this trip through southwest France, but this one was the most comfortable. It's a former Knight's estate with some interesting nooks. See the terrace one floor up. If you're fortunate there are several rooms surrounding it and you could be staying there. Bed and pillows were comfy. There was no mini-fridge but I did have a coffee maker. The room temperature controls were fully functional. From here walk easily to everything (though some of it will be up the steps). Parking is just across the way.

« Be in the middle of the action! »

Initially, we had a heck of a time trying to find the hotel. If you blink, you'll miss it. After driving through the town twice, my husband parked and walked to the hotel. The staff was inviting and friendly. Our hotel room was spacious, clean and well kept. We were given a room with a balcony over looking the street. It was absolutely beautiful at night. Oddly enough, it was the only room with a balcony. The room included breakfast and dinner. The servers at the restaurant were extremely unprofessional. If you didn't speak french, they had no interest in giving you good service. We chose to eat outside and spent the evening fighting off wasps. I had a wasp land in my wine and the server took the glass away and said "I can't help you with the wine" and didn't replace my drink. Then I had to scoop another wasp out of my dessert. Needless to say, I left unhappy. I didn't realize until we were leaving the restaurant that there was a wasp trap above our heads. Given the opportunity, I would definitely stay at the hotel again though.

    « Location, location, location! »

This hotel is centrally located to the old town, and right at the base of the Cathedral. After figuring out how to drive to the hotel (through the archway where it looks like just walking streets!), we were warmly welcomed. We had the corner suite which overlooked the street & the cathedral. The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was lovely with a jetted tub and large area. Cons: We had a king bed, but they only had separate twin blankets, so my boyfriend and I had to sleep separately. Only paper cups for the coffee and no milk. No robes.

    5
    « Location and service »

Apart from the stunning location, the very clean room and bathroom of this hotel, it was the efficient and very friendly staff that was outstanding. Special thanks for your Friendly and helpful manner goes to nadine and ariadna in reception and to the every smiling robbie in the bistro. Nothing was too much trouble. I really loved the view from my room 53. Cheers Jen the mother

« A great place to stay in Rocamadour! »

We travelled with Rail Discoveries. We usually do coach and will go back to coach because of delays home and lugging our cases around. However, we did not feel like second class citizens. Yes, we were seated in a certain area and some had to be moved when another party was in. I am not sure if this was because others had paid more?? But we were fine.Very happy with the food that was offered. No real choice but my husband asked for no fish so was given alternative. Staff were very nice and friendly bar one who was quite rude and curt to some people. He also shut the bar quite early one night. Did not annoy us but some others were not happy. We were on third floor of old hotel and loved our room! It was right near the lift. Lovely view from our window. We had some nice excursions. Rained the first day (only there 4!) but rest of week was lovely. Did not particularly enjoy Truffadou train but Gouffre de Padirac caves are stunning. Sarlat is lovely and the boat ride at Rouge-Gageac. All in all very pleased with hotel and food. Hotel in excellent position for upper and lower levels and shops. Lifts near by for upper levels. Great bird display at top of Rocamadour called Roche des Aigles. Stunning scenery.

    « Rock solid »

One night here only but a great position for this hotel, very central so you can walk to everything. Pleasant room with great views. Very good restaurant and attentive staff both here and in reception. A well run comfortable hotel clinging to the cliff in this remarkable town.

« Fantastic stay, fantastic staff, beautiful rooms »

We were thrilled with this hotel. As always, we were travelling with our 2 dogs. From the minute we arrived we all felt so welcome. The young lady on Reception, Arrianne, couldn't have been more helpful and charming. We booked for 2 nights knowing, that as the hotel was so busy, we would need to move rooms after night 1. The first night was in room 16. A delightful twin bedded room in the main building located to the back on the first floor. Very comfortable beds, good quality bed linen, well furnished. Had a superb first day looking around this amazing village. Enjoyed the very best meal in the hotel restaurant opposite. Slept well. Next morning Arianne asked us to leave our luggage in Room 16 enabling us to go out for another enjoyable day while our rooms where moved. When we returned we found we had been upgraded to Room 12, a beautiful suite. This room has a balcony overlooking the front street, a jacuzzi bath and beautiful furniture and fittings. We were delighted. Enjoyed our 2nd night in the hotel restaurant drinking champagne cocktail and eating the Cote de Bouef, cooked to order. Magnificent. Don't miss this place if you visit this village.

    5
« Great room, fabulous location, good value »

Rocamadour is a real honeypot but this is the place to stay!! In the dead centre of the village in a pedestrian area but with parking right opposite and seperate breakfast and ( up market ) dining rooms giving really good service, excellent food, although a little pricey for dinner. Also next to lifts to upper levels where the pilgrims purpose and castle are found. A great two day stay.

    5
« Great One Night Stay »

As a guest of this hotel you are permitted to drive through the archway along the pedestrian area until you reach a parking area on your left, the hotel is directly opposite. We got a parking place right at the back so we didn't have to leave our keys at reception. If you're blocking others in you have to leave your keys. Check in was swift, we didn't need to sign anything or swipe credit card. The girl took us across the street to the other building and up to the 2nd floor to room 52, a suite with jacuzzi bath. The room was large, bright, spacious and spotlessly clean. It had a view right down the cliff, spectacular. Shampoo/shower gel and soap are provided but nothing else. There is a coffee tray with 2 coffees, 2 teas, 2 milk and 2 sugars. There is a safe, A/C, plenty of extra pillows, a very comfortable bed with cosy duvet, two large comfy chairs and a flat screen TV (the only English channels are news ones). The bar and restaurant are also in this building. The restaurant was very busy for dinner but we didn't go there. We didnt take breakfast either as we just got a croque Monsieur further down the street. This hotel is just opposite the lift to the top of the cliff and is in an excellent location for bars and restaurants. Highly recommended for a very relaxing and stress free stay.

    « Fantastic. »

Fantastic staff. The woman on reception could not have made us feel more at ease. The approach and parking at this hotel is to say the least challenging but once you report to reception the warmth, knowledge and humour of the staff (especially the lady on reception) puts you at your ease. This is a hotel where staff understand the meaning of giving guests a genuine welcome....a skill lost in so many parts of Europe. Fantastic room. It was small but well equipped, maintained and most importantly of all had a wonderful view. Fantastic meal. Fantastic terrace. Food was well prepared, tasty and the menu was excellent value. So all in all a fantastic visit.

    5
« Excellent hotel and restaurant »

Great position in centre of village. Charming hotel with good rooms and very helpful staff. The restaurant serves beautiful food (across the road due to lack of space!) though the wine is a bit pricey. The swimming pool is in a sister hotel a 15 minute uphill walk or short bus ride away. Perfect hotel to explore this incredible cillage.

    « Fascinating location »

Travelling through France from Bilbao , stayed in Rocamadour. The hotel os loaceted in the village clinging to the gorge side and has a car park adjacent, which is important . The room overlooked the gorge and had all we needed, not to big but quite adequate. We ate on the terrace that evening and the food and service was very good

« Lovely friendly place with AC and parking in medieval village »

Our stay couldn't be better - hotel is located in a heart of the Rocamadour and they have a free parking which huge. Front desk speaks English and very helpful, rooms are large, clean and airconditioned, Jacuzzi suit is very comfortable. For the dinner try La Table Du Cure. $7.50 breakfast at the hotel is very good, we did not take continental because it was essentially the same for more money. Five start place - go with confidence.

    « Superb lunch »

My wife and I had lunch on the terrace overlooking the valley in mid June. The wait staff were most helpful on arriving in guiding us to a table which gave us a great view but which was also shaded. The meal is possibly the best we had during a 2 week stay in France in terms of quality and value...simply outstanding!!

    5
« Wonderful stop over in Rocamadour »

This is a fabulous hotel in an excellent location right in the centre of Rocamadour on the main street. Our rooms were beautifully presented and had wonderful views over the valley. We enjoyed a meal at the hotel restaurant sitting on the terrace overlooking the valley. The food was excellent and the service very friendly. The express breakfast served in the bar was very good value and was served until a later time which suited us perfectly.

    « Overall »

« The Place to Be in Rocamadour »

Great location in this travel destination. Close to stairs or elevator to top of mountain to Way of the Cross or to the Chateau. The restaurant - as advertised - didn't disappoint at supper or breakfast. The staff - starting with Arie at check in - were very helpful - in the best way - sincere ! ! The best part of this location was the fact that you could park right in front of the Hotel and easily walk to all areas of the village. Added bonus - the air conditioning worked ! ! ! Over three weeks of travel - usually stayed in B & B's - but this hotel was not a let down what so ever ! ! ! Very pleasant stay . . . highly recommend ! ! ! DLK

« Great location and service »

Great location and outstanding service from the staff, as well as a quality room made this a great hotel to stay in. Dinner at the restaurant also exceeded expectations. We found the hotel easy to find and parking across the street convenient. The staff was most helpful in maximizing number of cars in the small lot.

    « Staff is wonderful! »

Some of the nicest people in the hotel business ever. The staff --all of them --were xtremely helpful and friendly. I would return again. Lovely historic building with beautiful public room. Also, their restaurant was quite good.
