    « Brilliant staff »

We arrived late but this presented no problem from the welcoming and very helpful staff. There were only three of them totally in control of running the hotel which was full. They quickly arranged dinner for us and the service was first class throughout. Best Western in the U.S. should take note as our experience of the hotels there lags far behind the one here. Will certainly use again if we plan a similar trip.

    « Great stop-over! »

We arrived rather late after a ad-hoc booking on our journey going north through Germany. We (my wife and 2 kids) stayed in one of the "apartments" which suited us really good. The gentleman in the reception was very kind, helpful and clear in giving us the need to know about the hotel. It felt somewhat awkward location of the hotel but I must say that the overall experience surprised us in a very positive way. Would recommend this hotel as a great stop-over hotel. The breakfast was very nice. Thanks for a good stay!

« Quiet and convenient hotel »

The hotel lies between Frankfurt and Mannheim off the beaten track and I stayed there on a business trip. It looks a bit old fashioned and the exterior, interior and rooms would need a refurbishment. However the place is clean and convenient. In the evening we had dinner in the hotel's restaurant and the quality was good. No need to drive far, since there is no decent place in the surroundings. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous, all fresh, and nice. The service was friendly as well. All I all a good price but nothing special.

« High Quality Hotel BUT a bit overpriced and TERRIBLE WiFi »

The hotel itself has an excellent staff, is quite well maintained, includes a great buffet breakfast and has a decent restaurant for dinner as well. For this part of Germany, it's a bit overpriced, but worst of all was the horrible WiFi experience I had the whole weekend! I have stayed there before two years ago and it was fine then - did they lower their budget? Change their provider? Don't know, but this is unacceptable for a business traveler serving entity.

« Good hotel in a desolate place »

This hotel is of a good standard and my room was spacous and comfortable although lacking a minibar. The room was also equpped with a small cooker and utensiles. Parking isn't a problem and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is good in a germanic fashion. However it is isolated in a semi industrial area with absolutely nothing of interest in the immediate surroundings. There is a Macdonalds on a crossroads nearby and that's about it.

    « Very good hotel »

I was invited to stay in this hotel for a family gathering. Breakfast is awesome , and the rooms are both comfy and large. Localization is ok but not particularly great, as the hotel lies in the middle of an industrial zone next to a Mosq. Would recommend. Seems a tad expensive though.

    « Noisy place »

Not a good choice. A room was very small, and the bathroom was claustrophobic. The neighbourhood is very noisy (railway station), but the noisiest is the hotel itself... the water in the radiator flows the whole time, and it not quiet at all. Fan in the bathroom turns on almost immediately as you enter the door and works for a few minutes after you get outside - it's very noisy too... I stayed in this hotel in winter, and for the whole week I had problems with the heating, the half of the radiator was cold (they tried to repair it but the problem kept coming back). The walls are really thin, and I could hear literally everything what people in other rooms were saying or doing... it was really annoying. Someone wrote about the moody receptionist... I think he's the boss of the whole place. He's actually not nice at all, he tries to hide it, but with no result. Everything is a problem for him, making a new coffee, wake-up calls, laundry on time, changing of the room... During my stay it turned out I had to stay for a few more days, so I booked a suite for a change, I wanted to have a small kitchen... The room is ok, but a little too expensive for what it offers. At least it has bigger bathroom in comparison to the standard rooms... But the kitchen is ridiculous, no electric kettle, no microwave (it was there actually, but didn't work - my favourite receptionist said they will replace it. But they didn't). Also you need to go outside and go through a small terrace to get to your room. At night the main door is closed, and when you forget your key, you may have a problem, because the reception is not occupied for most of the time. Wifi worked ok in my first room, in the main building, but in a suite it was hard to load a page sometimes... To sum up: definitely not a good place to stay for more than one night. Doesn't deserve 4 stars at all.

    « Bizarre Rudeness. »

Service: If you view the hotel as a whole, it is difficult to give an overall grade for service. The restaurant staff is very helpful, but the hotel's head receptionist has very unpredictable mood swings. My check-in was smooth; however, I was called at the wrong time for my wake up call. When I called back to schedule it again so I could go back to sleep, I was hung up on. When I called back again and restated that I needed a wakeup call and the man yelled, ?We can't pamper you with your wake up calls? and then hung up on me a second time. While I should have been angry at the sheer rudeness of this, I was more shocked than anything. Facilities: The hotel had typical Western European amenities, but the walls were quite thin. Fellow guests were not being loud, yet you could hear absolutely everything quite clearly.

« Perhaps a value for car touring for a nights stay. »

It seemed like a good idea. Stay on the outskirts of Frankfurt at a reasonably priced hotel on the rail system. Then when the time came to go to the airport there would be easy transit. Plus when we wanted to take in the Frankfurt scene we could hop on a train easily. So we chose the Hotel Riedstern in Riedstadt Germany. We arrived for a couple of days in early March 2007 via train dragging the bag from the train into the station. Since the hotel advertised being 500 meters from the train we decided to walk. There was a sign indicating the direction of the hotel so we started off to the north, then west under the tracks and without signs kept walking. Finally a sign indicated south, after 100 meters a sign said east, 300 meters a sign indicating south again. This is when we saw the station across the tracks directly from the hotel after 45 minutes of walking. A taxi would have been further as it could not have gone through the pedestrian tunnel under the tracks. The hotel is located in an industrial park and seemed to be a cross between an apartment building and a hotel. We checked in and thankfully went to our room. The double room we reserved appeared to be very small with two twin beds and a tiny bathroom with only a shower. The shower was a meter square and had a plastic curtain and, we found later, a shower head that would not stay directed but always fell down under its own weight. The ceiling light was a chandalier with 15-20 bulbs and definitely filled the room with eye zapping brilliance. There was a desk and chair with limited work room. No safe in the room. Duvets were lightweight but the room and linens were clean and did not seem worn or frayed. Wireless connection was available and provided good bandwidth. Breakfast was very adequate and complete with hot and cold entres, juices, cereals, and breads, cheeses and meats. The service was prompt and friendly. The hotel seemed to be a businessman's hotel probably because it is convenient to be reached by car and is priced competitively. There was a lack of off street parking and cars were lined up on both sides of the streets outside every night. When we left early in the morning the office was locked, we left our key on the counter and the door locked behind us as we headed to the train for the airport.
