« Pay attention to what is available in your room and what you SHOULD have in order to avoid to pay for extras »

It was very good and nice to stay in the Hotel Speer. But I suggest to check what is available in your room (I mean extras) and what id not, in order to avoid to pay for extras that you do not used (food and beverage).

    « Well situated hotel »

Ideal when you travel by train with a heavy suitcase, the hotel is right next to the station. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a room in the back, very quiet. But I can imagine a room in the front being more noisy.

    « Great location! »

The hotel Speer is located right in front of the Railway station so for me a great location but has even more positive aspects as a traveller or holiday maker you literally have the beautiful lake Zurich just yard away and that is fabulous. Switzerland as you would expect is a lovely clean country with a diverse and friendly population who are so helpful and this is true also of th hotel staff. Iris on the reception is a star and nothing is too much trouble for her guests and that is exactly what she projects. The rooms all have lovely french windows and are immaculately maintained to a high standard. The TV is quite challenging to work but I am no IT wizard so I am sure all you young people can work this out. The hotel has a lovely restaurant that specialises in Thai and Japanese food with the most marvellous Sushi bar - this very popular so make sure you book in high season I would say. The restuarat is also supported by a great little bar that again reflects the welcoming character of this hotel - good job done by all. The rooms are serviced by a elevator , up four floors and you have a peaceful sense of the town with the Church up on Lindehof Strasse, which is not far away and well worth a visit as it is a stuuning Swiss church and civil building (maybe old castle) but with fantastic views overthe lake and Swiss Alps - Wow! Whilst Rapperswil is beautiful it is also quite expensive so please don't come here expecting cheap deals as the Swiss cost of living is high but then what that is the quality of their environment - lucky Swiss people. Rapperswil has a really attractive town centre with a fabulous array of shops and again you will find many English seaking staff happy to help you with purchases.

    « Excellent location »

The hotel is in excellent location just opposite the train station and very close to the lake, the castle and shops. The reception staff are very helpful and speak good English. The room is clean , of good size and has a safe and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast is good with good varieties of bread, fresh yogurt, fresh jam and cheese. I definitely recommend this hotel.

« Great Location with Friendly Staff »

My wife and I stayed here with another couple for a biking trip. The staff was kind enough to let us store the bikes in a back room, which was above and beyond what we expected. The rooms are average sized, the bonus was the excellent air conditioning which felt great after the long bike ride. Shower was fine, the heated toilet seat was a nice surprise. Breakfast was not particularly satisfying, but it's s included. The location is the best feature, right across from the train station and near the water. The wifi is free and fast enough to stream movies.

    « Excellent hotel »

Perhaps the best hotel in Switzerland when comparing the price and the standard. I only wonder -again- why it is not possible to have a 3rd floor room according to my wishes although I make the reservation over one month in advance. However, all rooms have been of a high value.

« My all time Destination ever after ?? »

The hotel is Amazing. Too close to the transport station exactly across the street. Staff are so friendly and helpful all the time and they speak English well. They've a Thai restaurant and sushi bar. Breakfast is so delicious and full of varieties. The hotel owner is so nice. Rooms are very clean. Everything in the hotel is so FRESH ??. It deserves every single penny. Don't revise yourself twice ????????????

    « Nice place »

I spent 5 days there, very nice, clean, friendly staff. It's a walking distance from all attractions of the small town; and right in front of train, bus station as well as the pier.. good breakfast with some good varieties and staff helpful regarding recommendations for what's suitable for me to eat (as I don't eat pork)

    « Perfect location »

This is a simple hotel but very well run and with an amazing location just by the train station. It is quiet, comfortable and with very friendly staff. The breakfast was also very nice offering most things you would be looking for in a buffet breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short or long stay in Rapperswil

« Decent, comfortable and clean hotel with spectacular views over lake zurich »

Had a 5 day 4 night stayed at The BEST WESTERN PLUS Hotel Speer. The price per night is reasonable. Great breakfast. Friendly receptionist. The size of the room was acceptable. The room is ok, clean and the food was great. Fancy for Asian cuisine food? Try out Sayori Restaurant. The food and drinks was great. Better call for reservation as it's packed full every night. Location was fantastic. 5 to 10mins walk to a full stretch of restaurant along the harbour. 5 mins walk to MacD. 10mins walk to local supermarket. Shopping outlet include H&M within walking distance from the hotel around 10mins. Rapperswil SBB station was just in front of the hotel. Overall it's a great hotel at a fairly quiet and relaxing town.

    « Very pleasant »

Stayed in Rapperswil for a number weeks while on an extended work trip. Beautiful place to visit in the summer. I stayed in the Hotel Speer for all of that time, and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms, while they are small, are perfect for what you need. Extremely clean and tidy. The wifi signal was not the best in some of the rooms. The bar is very nice, and the restaurant in the evening has fantastic food. There are also some fantastic restaurants on the pier nearby and around the town of Rapperswil. I would recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness, friendly service and staff

    « Plus deserved »

This family owned and managed place really deserves the Best Western "Plus". Everything you wish in the rooms is there, the decoration nice and personal, and the staff friendly and competent. The location is next to the train as well as the boat station - very convenient if you want to make a trip for example to Zurich. Though Rapperswil and its environment are very nice and worth a visit as well...

« Pleasant stay in Rapperswil »

I have stayed in this hotel many times in the past 8 years. Its location is so convenient, train station and bus stops are just cross the street. Lots of restaurants, including a McDo and bars within 5 minutes walk. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Room is bit small by US standard, but clean.

« Here for Business and LOVE this hotel »

Been here twice on business. I speak English. They took excellent care of me. As a female travelling in a foreign country this was wonderful. The hotel was very clean, right across the street from the train station (took train in from Zurich) and there is restaurants, stores, and even a McDonalds right around the corner. Within walking distance to the lake. Overall, very nice stay.

    « Non-smokers discriminated against. »

Hotel wants you to pay for using two beds by not supplying sheet on other bed! Abrupt front counter lady with glasses asked me to return key straight after I checked in and was walking away from front desk because the next guest was a smoker and I wasn't. Apparently I was given a picturesque front facing balcony room that the smoking guest can use and I was given a non-balcony room with a view of a wall instead. She did not apologise or thank me either. I asked her why she had changed my room so suddenly after checking in and her reply was: "It's easier..." Appalling guest treatment by rude staff.

    « Valentine's Day Weekend Stay »

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Speer over Valentine's Day weekend. The hotel is very nice. The room was a good size and offered good standard amenities such as toiletries, a blow dryer, nice size closet, safe, etc. The train station is right across the street from the hotel. This made it very accessible to the city of Zurich and many others.

    « Excellent location »

Hotel Speer is in a great location opposite the train station. Rooms were clean & very well serviced. Tea & coffee making facilities in the rooms. Easy walk to the old town section of Rapperswil, the lake & numerous wonderful restaurants & cafes.

« Hard to find, average location, nice rooms »

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night whilst the Christmas Market was going on next door. The hotel has no own parking. They have parking space in a public parking which they share with hotel Schwanen. When I arrived I was told that the hotel parking was full and the reception send me on a quest to find parking in two other public parkings, which appears to be full to. The room was nice, modern decoration. The outside environment of the hotel is not nice. It is across from a railroad station and I would not advice ladies to walk alone from the public parking to the hotel. I met some homeless, drunk people hanging around just outside the parking building. They were also loud at night.

« Perfect Location for Visiting Zurich And Great Views »

Clean modern . Across the street from train station. Easy access to expressway. Parking next door with their own private secured floor in a parking garage for fee. Good breakfast with fee. Excellent Bircher muesli and strong coffee brought to table. Most rooms with balconies except in the back of the building (which would be very desirable) where there are only two. The hotel is on the main road that goes across the lake and across from the train station. Small closets. Tubs with a leak proof showers. Toilet with automatic seats (bidet built in). We had the third best room and the bathroom was a bit small, so I think the others are smaller. The room itself was large enough for a sitting area and all four bags. Other rooms a little smaller. Outstandingly helpful and cheerful and friendly staff. There was a n Asian fusion restaurant downstairs. We didn't try but the menu looked great. Also a bar that is very popular with young adults on Friday. Hotel is very full on Saturday and Sunday breakfast when bf hours are extended. Otherwise a ten am closing is strictly adhered to. The clock behind the hotel is pretty loud and just for the heck of it occasionally rings 30 times in one series (anyone read ''The Bald Soprano.'') We are heavy sleepers and it never woke us up. Really charming to me. About parking! Before you can get into the private parking area, you need to stop first at the single parking spot in front of the hotel. It's easy to miss but if you do, you can make a very quick spin to the left, there is a turn lane for the train station. There you can drive through the drop off and come back to the hotel after making a left. There is a light at both spots. Only then can you go in and get the special secret code to get into the private parking level. Accessibility: No Stairs And Wide doors Bathroom Size is small Storage shelves in the bath an d elsewhere were limited even though we had the third best room. Shower in tub in our room Toilet paper was great Toilet comfort, the seat was a bit small owing to the presence of an automatic back-mounted bidet seat. Tea & Coffee tray standard Toiletries were excellent! They had a collection of soaps of which I will be buying one. Duvet No Extra pillow Beds were very Firm Area around Bed was ample with high ceilings and a seating area plus we had all the suitcases out on the floor. Other rooms were smaller. Lighting was very good with great halogen reading lights over the bed No Coat Hooks but the closet was right by the door. Desk Attendance was not completely constant but never abandoned. View is pretty incredible. In back we had the 3 towers of the castle and some gardened balconies. In front, you have the old fancy Train Station (no noise) and part of the lake and bridge. Bar is sleek and all black, rather Japanese. Closed until 5, I think, and does some business. Partiers can spill out into the large courtyard out front. Big Breakfast with breads, croissant, Bircher muesli, real scrambled eggs, 2 breakfast sausages, yogurt, many condiments, and a silly pump for jams. Strong coffee brought to the table in a carafe. Parking is tricky but great. Near Restaurants Near Shopping Windows Open Night-Time Darkness is easy to achieve

« Very nice stay with clean, comfortable rooms »

Rooms was decent, and location was excellent. Hotel is directly across from the train station so access is easy. Room was nice and clean. Only issue I had is the tub used for taking showers was narrow and not easy to use.

    « Stay in Zurich »

the hotels in zurich generally prices is high, if you go out side city center 30min by train, here is good and stay reasonable prices, and the city rapperswil also looks attractive rather than 20 years ago.

    « businesses travel internationally »

A very nice location and accommodation. Friendly staff that speak many languages. As it is right across from the rail station it was an excellent location. I recommend the sushi bar and the fusion asian restaurant. Some of the places in town are disappointing so be careful expensive and horrible food whereas the hotel speer serves a good breakfast Ann dinner.

    « Great Hotel! »

We stayed here for 3 nights and it is really nice. We took the superior room, it's a little expensive, but oh well, it's Switzerland! It's not a bad price for a 4 star hotel though. The rooms were clean, big, and well kept. Bathrooms were very clean, and it featured a high-Tech toilet, like the ones in Japan and that was a fine little touch for me. The breakfast was delicious! I highly recommend the croissants here. And The restaurant is packed during lunch and Dinner time. The food is expensive, but extremely good! So I recommend that you try out the Lunch or Dinner at least once during your stay.

« Wonderful stay, great location! »

We stayed 3 nights in June as we were there for the Ironman 70.3 race. The room spacious enough to fit an extra bed for our child and yet had space for our suitcases and bike. It was a lovely touch for the hotel to leave a bag of bread for our child to feed the ducks. Check in reception staff was friendly and very helpful in providing us with a map of the old town. The hotel is located right across the train station and we could walk easily to explore parts of the old town. We would definitely pick Hotel Speer if we visit Rapperswil again.

    « They have AC!! »

We stayed in Rapperswil during a very hot time of year and were so thankful each night to retire back to our hotel and enjoy the AC in the room. We had colleagues staying at other nearby hotels and they were miserable. In addition to the comfort of the room, the staff was very friendly and the location was very convenient.
