"In the heart of Quespo"
Carol A, 02 Mars 2024

This hotel is conveniently located on the main strip of Quespo- across from the waterfront. A western style 4 story hotel with an on-site restaurant, and a pool. My single room was small, but adequate. The bed was comfortable and the AC is quiet. The terrace, with seating for one, was shared with my next-door neighbor, but sitting outside by the pool was a better experience. Breakfast was very good.

"A Rip Off"
251adriennel, 25 Février 2024

We booked a deluxe room with ocean view for 175USD. What is not mentioned is that the hotel is on a very busy road and then the ocean. The traffic noise was horrendous we did not get hardly any sleep moterbikes joyriding up and down the road all night. Interestingly one of the few equipments provided in the hotel are earplugs! The rooms are tired, in need of updating, no safes, no mini bar, old fashioned bathrooms. The swimming pool was murky with tiles falling off. The breakfast was basic , the hotel is mainly used by tour groups visiting Manual Antonio so everyone fighting for breakfast at 7am when the restaurant opens. This was the most expensive hotel of our vacation and the worst.

"Noisy, old hard beds, shabby room"
jparrowsmith, 16 Février 2024

Hotel allowed a rowdy live band one night and noise spread throughout all floors, so loud unable to watch TV, forget sleeping or even talking. No relief from many guest's complaints. Beds are old and rock hard, rooms desperately need modernising.

"Heaven in Quepos"
TravelingFool2023, 21 Novembre 2023

I have stayed here multiple times and always enjoy my stay. The hotel is centrally located. The staff is attentive and polite. Love the continental breakfast! Fresh fruit and choice of entrees. A perfect way to start the day.

"The casino is a total rip off"
DanJablonski, 23 Juin 2023

My family and I actually just went to the casino at the best western in Quepos, CR. Not sure how the hotel is but the casino was a huge rip off. Online they were suppose to offer a few table games but they only had the blackjack table. Then my daughter and wife went to the bar and ordered Bailey's and cream and saw the $20 American dollars in her hand and the bartender stated that's how much it was. I hope many people read this review and the the whole casino financially collapses.

"MEDIUM RANGE HOTEL WITH OUTDOOR POOL"
Carlo S, 06 Avril 2023

Medium range hotel with outdoor pool, not far away from Manuel Antonio National Park. Roms are comfortable ,with air conditioning . Good breakfast. Some of the rooms tend to be noisy at night (casino nearby)

"It used to be a good spot.. now is a "noise nightmare""
Feds V, 20 Janvier 2023

I've stayed at the Best Western Kamuk in Quepos several times... Usually we use it as a base for triathlon events that take place on the area so this was not the first time I've stayed with them. The location is strategic and good to move around the area but you need to be careful at night with some of the crackheads that are around, the area is not that safe to me at night time.. and I'm from CR so I know a bit... There is one BIG issue I'll elaborate on this review. The rooms are ok, at least the Superior ones.. the regular ones are small and old TBH…, overall the hotel has it's years but it's clean in general.., rooms are comfortable for a short stay and amenities such as the pool, restaurant and other work well in general. The personnel is friendly, nothing outstanding but they are nice and polite. There is only one elevator which may be an issue on peak times like the early morning or check out times but it's something minor. You have stores very close by, lots of restaurants, bars, the pier (Marina) No pets allowed and the parking is NOT at the hotel but a few blocks away, which is not convenient. They do have Wifi and A/C in good conditions. So what's the issue if it all seems ok/average? The NOISE in front of the hotel during the weekends, at the street in front of the hotel… 2 times, during weekends and over different dates, it has been hell on earth. In a nutshell we were not able to sleep given the noise from the people that park cars right up front, get their modified cars with big speakers all the way up and drink and party literally ALL night. The hotel is well aware about this issue as they provide, from the start, earplugs on each room. Motorcycles and cars exhausts, just hell.. I'm telling you, the level of noise is worst than the casino that is right next to it + people yelling, singing, fighting… a circus. During my last stay back in December, the party went on till 4:40am when me and my team were getting ready for the triathlon after a very poor night of sleep. We did go to the front desk around 1am to request them to call the police or do whatever they could but we were told that they will not show up for that and there was nothing they could do… So this is likely an issue that the hotel can't control, I understand that, we were usually ok with the place but we have had 2 very very bad experiences and don't expect to stay here anymore. They need to invest on sound proof glass. If you like to give it a try, go ahead, maybe the party animals will be gone but, this was not a one time instance… you can check other reviews and I'm telling you, we are chill.. the first time we thought we had bad luck but it happened again. So chances are that you may be wanting to stay elsewhere. If not because of this BIG issue, I would have rated the hotel as “Average” but after the mentioned instances, and the poor response / actions the hotel has taken I just can't. Other than that, it's ok but maybe a flying risk.

"In the Heart of Quepos"
See Damon T, 13 Janvier 2023

There's been a lot of curiosity about the hotel so I posted an in-depth review on YT called: Best Western Hotel, Quepos, Costa Rica, Review. I gave my rating based on the amount of hotel comfort and services I received for the money we paid. we loved the centrality of the hotel to everything, the continental breakfast was good, the staff was great. I think you will find that it gives a good visual of a lot of the comments on this site.

"Nice hotel, Good Value"
Go27588201500, 18 Novembre 2022

This is good value and puts you right in the heart of Quepos. Very clean hotel property. The rooms are well kept and the housekeeping staff is first class. My only complaint is the noise. I was in a room above the sports bar and out by the main road. It was tough to get to sleep early. Otherwise, the room was nice, the bed was comfortable. There are some great little restaurants and shops within steps of the hotel.

"Amazing time in Quepos Best Western!"
D3127TWcourtneyp, 06 Août 2022

Hotel was clean and the restaurant bar was very good with an amazing view of the beach. I cannot say enough about the people at the restaurant bar. Leidy, Leo and Eli were amazing with top notch service. Thanks to them...this weekend was a success.

"Great place, great staff, best tuna"
stevelR2600RE, 01 Mars 2022

The rooms are clean and comfortable, try to get an interior room. The ones with balony on the street could use better soundproofing as the street can get a little loud at night. The staff is super friendly and will help you book any tour in the area, at the best possible price. The restaurant is a gem, again super friendly staff, good recommendations, reasonably priced, and amazing sunset view! Try the Tuna, it is fabulously.

"Too noisy"
Macpen2014, 17 Février 2022

The street noise (partying, music blaring, purposely done motorcycle revving) that can last til the wee hours of the morning make this hotel a bad choice. The restaurant staff is wonderful but it does not make up for the lost sleep each night.

"Completely sketchy"
mikdins, 16 Février 2022

Loud, terrible plumbing, sketchy. Motorcycles with extremely loud exhaust's throughout the night until 4 am. Two in particular very distinct bikes in a constant loop. Sat down at the black=jack table and was offered drugs several times. Very, very, sketchy.

"Wonderful Hotel Staff and a Great Location"
millekj, 04 Février 2022

This is my first time back at this hotel after two years due to COVID and it is great to see many of the same staff that always make this hotel a great spot due to its proximity to the main bus terminal, walking distance to the marina, centro Quepos and the waterfront view. Of particular note are the management staff of Luis and Yoselyn, to the longtime restaurant staff that includes Leo. All are extremely helpful and do everything to assist with any questions you have during your stay. The hotel staff demonstrate good, common-sense measures to minimize COVID (hand sanitizer at entrance and all personnel wear masks). I have also noticed over the years the continued investment in the hotel to upgrade various areas (lobby, pool, restaurant canopy, etc.)

"Unexpectedly Excellent!"
V6828ZImartinw, 26 Décembre 2021

I had no expectations when I booked. I just needed a basic comfortable place to stay. I originally booked for 5 days but ended up extending several times and stayed 10 days. Receptionist staff were good to work with. Special shout out to Caesar, Roland and Max (I think I got that right). The hotel restaurant/bar was excellent! The free breakfast was awesome! I made friends with restaurant staff Leo (Host and General Manager), Elisa and Guisella. All friendly, accommodating and they helped me with my Spanish. Cleaning staff were also friendly and accommodating. Great location in Quepos; you can walk to just about any place in Quepos. Rooms were fine. No complaints. It was better than I expected and met my needs quite well.

"Amazing"
LenafromParis_3, 24 Octobre 2021

I had an amazing stay at Best Western Casino Kamuk. The staff was very nice, room was clean, and everything worked properly. Great location very close to the bus terminal and the beach. Would definitely recommend.

"Great Stay in Quepos"
Luo1996, 22 Juillet 2021

We stayed in Quepos for one night with my family. The hotel had a great location, very spacious and comfortable rooms, and also very good service. From this location it is very easy to visit Manuel Antonio, Dominical, etc. The marina in Quepos was also very close to the hotel. Breakfast was served a la carte and was also very good. The restaurant is on the third floor and has a nice view of the ocean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area and hope to return in the future.

"Comfortable visit"
399charu, 18 Mars 2021

The hotel provides basic amenities. Staff speaks English and it was a comfortable stay with pool facing room. Special credit goes to Leo from the restaurant who is friendly, attentive and really helpful. He helped me get my Uber refund when my Uber driver cheated and charged more. Overall, a good experience and good location.

"An adequate budget hotel"
amitabhdeepap, 25 Mai 2020

A very mixed experience: The rooms were tiny and in a crowded neighborhood. But the food was good, the service was nice, and the view from the restaurant was soothing. The A/C wasn't working initially. Value for the money, but not much more.

"Great Hotel and Lovely Staff"
gbgera, 23 Mars 2020

We stayed for 4 nights at the Best Western Kamuk Hotel. Luis Alberto and his team were great, really welcoming and incredibly helpful. They recommended great trips to Manuel Antonio National Park and on a catamaran. Nothing was too much for them. The Hotel is very modern and extremely clean and the rooms a great size! We ate at the restaurant on 2 evenings and the food was amazing, really great local cuisine and the best Tuna I have ever eaten! We loved this place so much we stayed an extra night!! I would highly recommend!

"Awful"
bannanerz, 05 Février 2020

Tour agency booked me for 3 nights I left after 1, chose to stay somewhere else out-of-pocket. Room smelled of mould and dampness. Shower barely had any pressure. You have to pay $3/day to use the safe. Couple of old American dudes with their prostitutes checked into the hotel; seems to be the case with the casino around the corner attached to the main hotel. Very loud at night with music and people shouting. No soundproofing in rooms so you can hear everything. Stay away from this hotel at all costs.

"Great place great location"
robertmJ1442NC, 24 Janvier 2020

Walking distance to all the local town places and near the bus station. Nice walkable are near marina and parks. Have stayed here many times over twenty years. Good local food and bars nearby. Walk along the promanade.

"Great location"
sharon r, 24 Janvier 2020

The hotel is right in town and faces the ocean which you can see from the dining room and you can cross the street and sit on benches, unfortunately you can not go on the beach. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Ask for a room by the pool the ones on the street are noisy

"One night stay"
susansP4552LC, 21 Janvier 2020

The hotel was beautiful and clean. We had a great view of the ocean with a balcony. However, people must party all night long in Quepos, because we did not sleep at all because of the noise. Food was good too!

"Perfect place"
Leigh A, 30 Décembre 2019

Great place staff awesome perfect location 1 block from bus station. Right next to restraunts bars shopping. Night club around the corner. Only open on weekends. Free breakfast was good we went costa rican style evwry morni g

"Stay in Quepos"
jeffaly, 15 Décembre 2019

Great view and proximity to the beach.Easy access and walking distance to dining and bars. Clean rooms and friendly helpful front desk staff. Breakfast was more than a cold continental style. Could improve on the vehicle parking situation as their secure lot has limited amount of spaces.

"Great Location and Friendly Staff"
millekj, 15 Décembre 2019

I have stayed here many times and it is a short walking distance to everything in Quepos, including the marina and bus station. The hotel owner has been making steady improvements into the hotel including new restaurant awnings, room door locks and reception area.

"Mr.Gabriel Villarreal"
Kurtveeman, 07 Décembre 2019

Breakfast was always full of sunshine and laughter the Waiter whose name is Juan was very funny and would bring smiling faces to all who sat to eat in the morning.Fresh pineapple and mango and papaya was always available at breakfast time. Beans and rice was a warm welcome also. I love be able to partake of the foods of the Costa Rican people.

"Tourist attacked"
Annasrio25, 21 Octobre 2019

My wife and I were in the best western hotel and kamuk casino in quepos costa rica and 3 people kept bumping into my wife and I. I asked please be more careful and got attacked by 3 locals. Wife received bruised ribs and I received concussion and head split open. Black eyes and multiple lumps on head also. And as this was happening I've got a crackhead trying to dig in my pockets as I'm being beat up. Theres nothing but crackheads and cocaine dealers hanging out in front of casino and hotel. Cant enjoy ocean boardwalk at night because it's to dangerous. As far as I see it theres nothing worth going to quepos for. Also very over priced country, it's not as cheap as you would think. But what really disgusts me is that I wasn't offered any compensation at all from hotel or casino for my injuries not even a sorry that happened to you from casino. The police did nothing to them because I'm a tourist and they are locals isn't that nice. It makes you wonder about a hotel that allows prostitutes and drug dealers to hang out in there establishment all day and night. It was a waste of money to go to quepos. If hotel wants I can put police report and other info on computer to prove what I'm saying is the truth. no problem. STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY.

"A nivel place to stay"
Nomad42913624987, 21 Septembre 2019

I often visit Quepos and prefer to stay here, where I know I will be comfortable. The rooms are clean and tidy. The general facilties are more than adequate, and the staff are welcoming. The hotel is also conveniently located in the centre of town, but overlooking the beach.

"Beautiful view; exceptional staff"
Jkitz528, 11 Septembre 2019

We had a good experience with this hotel. The food in the restaurant was good; the view of the sunset was fantastic; and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy. We had a room that faced the Pacific Ocean and the boardwalk. It was a beautiful view. The only issue was one the hotel could not control....drums playing on the street until the wee hours of the morning.

"Awesome stay."
emayi, 29 Août 2019

This is truly a wonderful place to stay because it doesn't only have beautiful views and pool area but its rooms are truly comfortable, with everything anyone might need and they offer excellent services such as the delicious complimentary breakfast. The entire staff works really hard, not only complying with anything I asked but also making me feel more than welcome and right at home. I will definitely stay here again . Thank you for making my stay such an amazing experience.

"Best hotel stay in forever!"
Miguel S, 07 Août 2019

The Best Western Kamuk will exceed your expectations as it did mine. I went with my family for a nice getaway for a week and decided on a more central stay in Quepos. What we found was a gem amidst all the options to stay and highly and only recommend it. The staff is super kind and engaging. They care about every aspect of your stay and are warm and welcoming. The Mira Olas restaurant is some of the best food I have ever had. The view is stunning, especially as the sun goes down over the waves, the food is perfectly prepared and super fresh and is responsible for my coming home with a few extra pounds in the best way! The rooms are super comfortable and having seamless wifi was a rare gift we enjoyed. My family and I will be back and very excited to do so. Super affordable and for the amount of attention and care we received, it is an absolute steal for what you get versus what you actually pay. The breakfast alone is worth the stay and the pool is wonderful, warm and just what you need after a chaotic trip to Manuel Antonio. The national park is a great place to visit but you need to fight your way past the 'guides' that are throwing themselves in front of your car to make you park. Had it not been for the staff at the BW Kamuk giving us a ton of great advice, we would have not only parked WAY too far from the entrance, but been swindled out of money by the false guides. The staff made our Quepos leg of the trip truly amazing! If you plan a trip to Quepos, do yourself the favor and stay there!

"Do Not Stay Here"
Marsha E, 03 Août 2019

The rooms were hot, the water would cut off in the middle of a shower. The breakfast was terrible the cereal had ants in it, the pancakes were like cardboard. The staff at the front desk were very friendly.

"disappointing"
MP111111111111, 29 Juin 2019

This hotel was a dismal disappointment, not up to the best western standards. upon arrival to our room, we were not walked to our room and had difficulty locating it. eventually we found we had to go up another staircase (no elevator to these rooms, no offer to help us haul our luggage up the full staircase). the room was small and smelled of mold. there were many flying insects in the room, no wonder as the window in the bathroom had been left open without a screen. the closet had a small safe too small for a laptop that required a old fashioned key to be purchased from the front desk. the windows didn't close all the way and there were consequently holes left open to the outside between the window and the wall. there was no minibar and no waters in the room, leaving us to go outside to find water to brush our teeth. the drawers were molded and unusable. there were dead insect carcasses on the floor. (not meant as a dig on the maid service, the room had clearly been cleaned, but with the tropical climate and the open windows, insects dying was an inevitability. Because of the open window onto the busy street, the room was impossibly loud with every drunken screaming passerby waking you up from sleep. the bed was hard and lumpy with insects under the sheets. there were no blankets on the bed only one sheet to cover. after calling the front desk, they informed me there were cheap pilled molded blankets in the closet. the pillows were all overstuffed and hard. they were also of a strange shape - square? impossible to rest on. the bathroom was a 90s tile horror unto itself. The toilet was industrial with exposed piping but the flush was so weak you were left with a lighter colored version of what you had tried to flush. the sink was extremely old and cracked. while there were tissues there were no other bathroom amenities. they had some hand soap in an industrial dispenser on the wall which was almost empty. there were too few towels in the room. the shower was grungy and the doors to the bathroom were rusted. The shower head looked to be >20 years old. when i turned my shower on with grungy moldy handles, the water was initially brown. then it completely shut off and refused to work again. i used my neighbor's shower in the room next door and while water did come out of the spout, it was barely more than a trickle and it was impossible to wash one's hair. low pressure would be too kind a description. I've had better showers in garden sprinklers. Pros: the front desk staff had hot coffee for our early departure at 5am (we missed the complimentary breakfast). great location. the restaurant upstairs was nice and had good food. the air conditioning unit in the room did work.

"Not good, specially at night!"
Luis M, 16 Avril 2019

This was not what i was expecting, parking space (very limited to 6 cars aprox.) is 1 block away the hotel. The area in general is very loud, specially at night, you can barelly sleep (my room was a street view room). Again at night, prostitutes are right in the corner of the hotel. Book for 2 nights, just stayed there one and left.

"Don best"
Adventure08010485633, 07 Avril 2019

The hotel was clean and the personal were excellent. It is very secure and centrally located. Price is good. I always stay there because of this. Very close to Manuel Antonio and Dominical. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay.

"A good place to stay in Quepos"
Nomad42913624987, 05 Avril 2019

The rooms clean and perfectly acceptable. The restaurant/dining room is airy and well situated on the third floor, with a panoramic view of coast. The staff do a good job and are pleasant to deal with. No complaints.

"Undisclosed"
ranihayran y, 27 Mars 2019

I stayed at BW kamuk in Quepos in february and march. I am very happy with the quality of service and the amenities provided by this hotel. I stayed a total of 20 days in this hotel at different times this year and I experienced no issues and no problems. They are highly professional and very friendly from the front desk to the support staff. I found my room always tidy. The hotel and the rooms are very clean and convenient. The hotel personnel speak english and they strive to help. The hotel restaurant provide excellent service and a tasty and diversified menu. The staff at the restaurant are highly professional and very friendly. Leon is their lead service man always helpful and cheerful. The hotel offers complimentary and quite nutritious breakfast with an amazing view of sunset and sunrise. The hotel is safe and quepos is a very safe town.

"Noisy rooms"
Thomas B, 21 Mars 2019

The rooms were not very sound proof. We were kept awake by partiers in another room. The street outside opposite the pool is a race track for loud cars, trucks and motorcycles. The intersection right outside the casino is home to several prostitutes. The casino has a very loud bingo caller that can be heard throughout the hotel. There is a small dog that lives next door on the 2nd floor that constantly barks all night. Annoying location because of all the noise. Good shower, clean room and pool. The staff in the restaurant were grumpy both days as if we were inconveniencing them.

"Beautiful view but a very noisy"
amandagQ8883MB, 19 Mars 2019

My boyfriend and I came to Costa Rica on a last minute fishing/adventure trip, and we stayed at various Air BnBs as well as this Best Western (due to convenience.) Though the 4th floor beach view was beautiful, we had a difficult time sleeping due to the VERY loud traffic, music downstairs, and annoying chirping black birds. The showers did not have hot water and the rooms smelled musky. On the upside, the pool was clean and beautiful, breakfast was tasty, and they had secured parking (a couple of blocks away from the hotel.) I would recommend staying at an air bnb in Manuel Antonio instead of downtown Quepos because you can find something half the price with colder AC, hotter showers, and less noise.

"Great place to stay while fishing"
frank w, 07 Mars 2019

Myself, my son and my son in law recently stayed at the Best Western while on a fishing trip. Everyone friendly and very helpful. The place was spotless and beds comfy. Pool very clean and well kept. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the chef prepared fresh fish that we brought from boat. The continental breakfast was very good. Only a ten minute walk to the marina. Perfect place to stay if fishing. Frank Watson

"Best in Quepos"
Quest54860270842, 07 Mars 2019

Good place to stay in Quepos. It's the nicest hotel in Quepos. Nice pool and a Casino in the lobby area that is freshly remodeled. Get a room on the inside as the street noise can sometimes go late at night.

"Noise -No Sleep"
rjroperti, 04 Mars 2019

Noisy in-town at busy location. All rooms affected. Restaurant staff was outstanding. Ate dinner there three nights in a row. They cooked the fish we caught to perfection. Staff at hotel very good and helpful.

"Noisy!"
Macpen2014, 28 Février 2019

We stayed here because of its proximity to the marina and the sports fishing we were scheduled for. However, if you don't have to be in Quepos, we were told by a local that you get a better hotel for the same cost closer to the Manuel Antonio National Park which is roughly 10 minutes by car. The hotel is fairly well maintained but the noise level from the street (cars blaring ads, bars and casino and traffic noise) is unbelievable. We stayed on the fourth floor towards the corner facing the ocean and away from the casino/bars which was slightly better decibel wise. I was also surprised that for what they charge, the safe box in the room was $3 per day.

"Don't stay here if you are a light sleeper"
aloupe7, 22 Février 2019

The noise that is around this hotel 24/7 is amazing! Thankfully I'm not a light sleeper and we wear ourselves out doing so much all day long, we sleep well. You can hear the traffic and the bars all night. It literally sounds like the windows are open and I've caught myself checking many times. And we on the 4th floor. There are absolutely prostitutes and homeless. But if you don't bother them, they don't bother you. Don't kid yourself on the parking. It's street parking where available but it's safe enough. Water pressure is terrible. Very clean. Staff nice and courteous. Breakfast is the same everyday but it's not bad. Free is free.

"-- Very good people -- who work here ="
tomasandrew16, 12 Février 2019

I have stayed in this Hotel a few times before .Each time is like coming back home. I take the same room on the forth floor , over looking the water . Very large room - 2 beds - corner room with all windows on 2 sides with balcony. The waiters in the restaurant are the best. Food is good . The very best is Kenneth , who works on the front desk , could not be any better..He will make sure your stay is very enjoyable . Management really should give him a raise for all the extra afford he put puts in his work. --- Thank You -

"Very Well-Maintained and Friendly Staff"
millekj, 06 Février 2019

I have stayed at this hotel many times and it is in a great location near the marina and walking distance to everything in Quepos. They do an excellent job maintaining the property and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

"Best western in Quepos"
Connector525094, 27 Janvier 2019

The location of the hotel is good if you wish to stay in downtown Quepos. It's on the waterfront-not a swimming area, but the sunset views were beautiful. The first room we were in at the hotel was very small and almost windowless. Thankfully, Nathalia was able to negotiate an upgrade for us to to a much more pleasant room. The hotel was clean, the pool area was well maintained, the iced drinking water in the lobby was much appreciated, and the daily room service was good. The breakfasts were enjoyable and we found the restaurant to be very good, and the wait staff friendly. They also had the best margaritas in town!! The front desk, especially Nathalia with her first welcoming smile, was very helpful with information and bookings. On the down side, the street is busy and noisy, and there are some maintainence issues with sliding doors. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

"4th Floor Accommodations are the Best"
Christine M, 26 Août 2018

We stayed here a few times as we were searching for a short-term rental. The first time we stayed on the 2nd floor and it was facing the side street. The room was small, a little dated and very loud from the street traffic. The next time we stayed on the top floor and the room was spacious, more updated, had a great view of the ocean, and was much quieter. The free breakfast was tasty, the bar is good and has a nice happy hour. The Casino is not worth stopping at and smelled of smoke. But, people are nice, pool is refreshing, rooms are clean.

"Restaurant on top"
sdfrancine, 01 Juin 2018

We went to the restaurant on top of the casino. It's part of the hotel and casino. It is really nice has great food. The view is fantastic and the scale is quite nice. May need to use your this Spanish to ask questions other than off the menu, but that's just part of the adventure. I lovely place and I highly recommend

"Best Western Quepos"
rboc100, 19 Mai 2018

Hotel was neat and clean as well as our room. Support staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced. Happy Hour everyday from 4 to 6. Wait staff were very friendly and attentive. A special Thank You to Leo at the Restaurant who was very knowledgeable about the area and helped to decide on things to do when we were not fishing.

"Lots of noise at night"
johnD1368WW, 29 Mars 2018

If you are heading to the Marina, this is a great location right across the street from the beach. At dusk, there are tons of birds making a beautiful noise. After this, the street bums come out and they often chat it up until after 6 am. You get to hear all of this along with some street parties and loud music. The front desk staff is not the most friendly team of individuals. The rooms are small but acceptable. The patio outside many rooms offers a view of neglect. The bathrooms have a terrible odor. The shower is large enough for three people. Breakfast offers pancakes or eggs and a small continental offering with pink yogurt. The beds are ok. Don't expect amenities, but the location is great. There are many local restaurants and pubs nearby. You must pay $10.00 to rent a safe and if you lose the key, you pay $75.00 more.

"Average hotel, smelly rooms and really noisy"
Allanah M, 27 Mars 2018

Staff are unhelpful, breakfast buffet is limited but they offer two choices of hot breakfast. 1. Pancakes with eggs and sausage 2. Costa Rican breakfast of beans and rice with an egg. Both of these options are delicious. The big let down of this hotel is the rooms and noise. It is attached to a Casino and I suppose that attracts the crowds, except lots of noise if you are on the second level. Our room smelt like mildew and the shower temperature keeps fluctuating. We booked a standard room for a couple but they gave us a room with two singles. We asked to move rooms and we wanted to pay for an upgrade but they said the couldn't although they did offer to join our singles together. We kindly accepted this offer but they didn't end up doing it and when we asked why the reception staff said they just couldn't do it! I highly recommend staying in Manual Antonio which is 7 Km up the road, much better value for money that side.

"We only ate here and wouldn't stay"
Rupert D, 21 Mars 2018

We ate here because we found ourselves in the wrong part of town and needing to eat. The food was OK and the service friendly but the hotel and the surrounding area are not to be recommended. There is a very dodgy casino attached to the hotel that could appeal to certain punters (extra on the room apparently!)

"GREAT PLACE AND SERVICE"
DTillman19, 18 Mars 2018

I went with my family some days and when we arrived the staff gave us a very good welcome very professional service. The place was fine according to the prices we paid and ordered. I want to thank Enrique who was always very attentive to our needs gave us a very profrsional service and was a very friendly person. The day of departure we did not see him to thank him that is why I give them to him by this means and we hope to see him when we return. We left happy and will return.

"Not recommended,skip it!"
User, 04 Mars 2018

Stayed for one night and it was more than enough. Unfriendly staff, smelly and noisy room, incorrect advertisement of free, secure parking (parking on the street) and dodgy area(many prostitutes) Only good points: good breakfast and shower. Skip quepos and especially this hotel!

"Bad"
Natalia C, 11 Février 2018

The room is very small, also the bathroom. Everything is old. In the morning the noise of the maids talking is like having them next to you. The pool is small and is not a beach pool. If you have another option, take it.

"Very nice hotel, but the internet ..."
MemeCR, 06 Février 2018

With best western you get great rooms, clean, tv, air conditioning, pool everything. The only complain I got is the internet. Very poor signal, get disconnected often. I called the reception and they say is because my room is far so I got unlucky not a great answer!

"Okay, not horrible "
Ilene C, 04 Février 2018

We booked this hotel last minute since our initial booking did not work out. We arrived at 10pm and the area was a little sketchy since it is next to a casino but they have a security guard outside the hotel until 6am. He was extremely helpful and helped carry our luggage from the parking lot. The parking lot is located around the corner and you need a key to get in and out which can be annoying. The room itself is your standard room without a fridge. The bathroom was clean however we did see termites around the bed and on the table. The free breakfast was very good and made the stay better.

"Best Western Should be Ashamed"
Jahnick, 30 Janvier 2018

We stayed at the Best Western Kamuk in Quepos for three nights to attend a funeral and be close to family and friends. When the spouse of the deceased came to our room to share stories and photos he was detained in the lobby and told there was a $25 charge for him to visit our room. We explained the situation but the desk clerk insisted this was policy – not for an extra person overnight, just for someone to visit the room for an hour or two. At the time everyone was grief stricken and in tears … it was an absolutely horrific experience. A friend went on to explain that she had a room for two with only one person staying in it, that a group of us had eaten several meals in the restaurant. She mentioned that I have limited mobility and found it difficult to meet with people elsewhere. We were simply told it was hotel policy. The employee at the desk made no attempt to contact a superior about the situation. The charge was later cancelled along with an apology for the “inconvenience”, a statement that “the policy still stands” and an invitation to stay again. I can guarantee that will never happen. We lived in Quepos for six years and still think of it as home, but I will never be able to walk past the Kamuk again without reliving that horrible day.

"Great Staff"
GutShot101, 19 Janvier 2018

We were in Quepos fishing it was near the Marina. The staff was awesome. Yes it is very loud coming from the street but if you have been fishing all day no problem sleeping even the birds are very loud. Very clean everywhere. We had the breakfast and it's ok just ask if there is something you need. The restraunt cooked fish for us three times and it was awesome every time! Very safe with night security every night and he also was a very nice man. 2 or three ladies working but if you pay them no mind they will do the same for you. Again it is loud but we loved our time there. Grocery store next door. Ice cream shop connected to hotel. everything you need is very close by. Room was hot when we got there at 10 pm in the future we will call ahead and ask them to turn it on a couple of hours before we get there. Pura Vida!

"Nice hotel"
HMG1718, 17 Janvier 2018

We only stayed two nights as we'd made arrangements elsewhere for the two nights before, and four afterwards.(Had left a terrible hotel on Christmas Day morning). We were relieved that we could be accommodated at such short notice, given the time of year and holidays. Room nice, tea/coffee making facility. No fridge which surprised us as it is a Best Western hotel. First night, very little sleep as the noise from the Casino and street level kept us awake. My husband went down to Reception in the middle of the night to say we could not stay there the second night in that particular room. A message was left for the day staff who very kindly arranged another room for us. Our packed suitcases were moved while we were out for the day. Full marks to everyone! Much better night. Had to pay for safe though, so didn't bother. Nice balconies.

"missed every opportunity to be helpful"
cliffy88, 08 Janvier 2018

Disappointing Bad first impression - USD$7 to use room safe. Next day, Pool towel request denied if you intend to bring it to the beach. (Hotel policy) Only had hot water once in 2 days Last days request for late checkout @v 2pm met with a USD$20/hr charge.

"BW Kamuk - address to recommend"

"Great Hotel Location and Wonderful Staff"
millekj, 17 Décembre 2017

I have stayed at the Best Western Hotel & Casino Kamuk, Quepos, many times and the combination of the location and very friendly staff, plus the overall value, make this a great location if you are in the area.

"Good option if staying in Quepos."
Bob S, 01 Décembre 2017

We stayed here for three nights. The hotel is in a great location. Close to the bus terminal for a cheap ride to Manuel Antonio. Many good restaurants to choose from within easy walking distance. For those looking for a peaceful night's sleep, look elsewhere. The hotel is on the corner of the two main streets that run through Quepos. Almost constant noise 24 hours a day. Bring the ear plugs! Breakfast was ok. They limit you to just one egg per person. Not enough if you like to eat a big breakfast like me. On the bright side the wifi is very strong and fast. An absolute necessity for today's traveler.

"A jewel in Quepos"
Edwin L, 30 Novembre 2017

Small hotel in the heart of Quepos. Rooms and restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Bar and restaurant were very good as was the service... Reasonable priced also. Secur parking and walk to all the neat spots i Quepos. The best in town and I know because I loived ther 7 years.

"Exceeded my expections"
Claudia C, 30 Novembre 2017

I really wasn't expecting much, but this hotel was perfect. It's in the center of town, close to varies restaurants, super close to the main bus stop, and not very far from Manuel Antonio. The room I was in was great for me since I was traveling alone, and the breakfast was very good. The only issue I had was the AC in my room had stopped working, but the lovely hotel staff were able to accommodate me and changed me to another room with a working A/C. Be aware that the area around the hotel does get noisy, but overall this was an excellent stay, would definitely stay here again.

"Excellent Stay!"
Whitecat11, 08 Novembre 2017

So many middle of the road reviews for this property. I found it to be a great stay. Fast checkin, very clean and comfortable rooms, ocean view, good restaurants with free breakfast, neat pool. The staff was 4 stars in all respects. Cable tv. I heard no noise except for the birds in the morning. I will give one good hint on booking. Go to the USA site for the pricing. It is much lower than booking direct. Dig deep and look for promos. The hotel wanted $85.00. The USA site was $72.50, but digging deeper they had a 3 night promo for $56.00 plus tax! I saved about $100.00 by just digging deeper.

"Good hotel in Quepos"
DHO123, 23 Octobre 2017

My brother and I recently stayed at this hotel for five nights. This was a fishing trip where it's pretty much eat, sleep, fish and do it all over again the next day. We had one of the deluxe rooms with a view on the fourth floor. The room has a nice view of the water and a small balcony. The only down side is it overlooks the main street through town which can be a noisy, especially on weekend nights. But, the rooms were clean and we had no other problems. Our stay came with the free continental breakfast which other than the usual fare, came with fresh cooked eggs and pancakes each morning. Also, on two nights the restaurant cooked some of the fish we caught for our dinner and it was very good. I beleive if we came back to Quepos we would probably stay there again.

"fun time"
olivier l, 16 Août 2017

to be honest i dint saty a the hotel but was in quepos for 2 weeks and that casino was a great spot to hang out they had the ufc fight people were nice and drinks are cheaps even played some poker for a night great time

"Roomdependant experience"
Arnout D, 30 Juillet 2017

First stayed in 210, where the carpet is moldy. Sleeping is an ordeal, we got another room which was a lot better. Breakfast is Ok, beds are Ok and location is handy and dubious due to the ladies is front of the casino.

"So Glad We Chose This Place "
RodgerandTom, 20 Juillet 2017

We are staying here for 4 nights & we're so pleased with our choice. The rooms are large & very comfortable. The pool is lovely. Having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the water is a wonderful way to begin the day. Another huge plus is the highly attentive & professional staff. Kenneth Blas has been great about booking whatever activities we want to go on. One final benefit of being here is the location. We're right in the middle of town with lots of restaurants within easy walking distance.

"Pretty Clean Hotel with Ok Staff"
Tonycal3, 12 Juillet 2017

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms were big, updated, and clean. The only issue I had was with one staff member who stemmed to be snobby but the rest of them were very accommodating. I told him I wanted to stay another night and he told me that I needed to do it on the web. I stated that I thought it would be faster and cheaper if we would do it here, but he said "no". He was not interested in helping me, it seemed like. Oh well, I called the other hotel where I was staying two nights and they happily accommodated us for another night. I don't get these type of workers especially in Costa Rica where customer service I hold it in high regards. One of the reasons I love to come to this country it's because of their Pura Vida way of life, caring, loving, helpful. I guess los ticos are changing as well.

"Horrible"
Joel B, 06 Juillet 2017

The casino is bad. It is a small. poorly run operation. They did not charge us for the first drink, but after they figured out that we are americans they started trying to charge us for drinks. I left. After I left they started saying things about us. My son was still in the Casino and heard what they said. Very unprofessional

"Dumpy"
mclanea, 26 Juin 2017

The positives? It was secure and the AC worked. The negatives? Room was loud with street noise and neighbors. The attached casino is Sketchy McSketcherson. We paid top dollar and got no view of the ocean even though the place was mostly empty. There was no parking lot... we drove around looking for it, literally there's not a parking lot in Quepos with a sign that is for BW parking. The front desk people were nice enough. The included continental breakfast was adequate. But overall I wished we'd picked somewhere else. I would give it 2 stars but it was clean, safe, and had AC.

"Terrible, worst stay of our trip possibly of all our travels"
jaijara19, 05 Juin 2017

This is not a 4 star hotel by any means.. Firstly, it is not a tourist area at all. The rooms are ridiculously small with an even smaller bathroom. We were given a balcony that overlooked a very busy and loud side street where we watched multiple police cars patrol. Below us was a very seedy and sketchy small casino. Very loud throughout the night and loud music woke us up at 5 am outside. I wish I could forget we even stayed here, it was that bad. Don't bother with the included breakfast, it was half a scrambled egg. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else!

"Well located"
Krissia6350, 06 Mai 2017

In the heart of Quepos. Everything in good cinditions and frirndly staff. The restaurant is soacios and offer agreat vuew to the ocean and boardwalk. Reasonable prices and quality meal. The parking us nit inmediate to the hotel that us the only inconvinient.

"Nice Seaside Hotel but no luxury here!"
Bob R, 04 Mai 2017

Quepos is a nice town leading to Manuel Antonio National Park. The Best Western is conveniently located on the main road and clean with very small rooms. A pool is onsite with the ocean across the street. Nights are loud in this town and walking around should be limited. Best part of this Hotel is the view from the open air restaurant where a simple but reasonable breakfast is served.

"Friendly staff, pleasant stay"
Carla K, 02 Mai 2017

This was one of the nicest hotels I stayed in on a mid-priced holidat to Costa Rica. There are of course lots of resorts close to Manuel Antonio, but this one was great for staying in Quepos. I found the staff friendly, and although check in wasn't until 3pm (I didn't know as I booked via a tour), they looked after my luggage at reception for me until then. The pool was nice, and towels available at reception. It was great having the pool to myself, and there was an ice-cream shop right next door so... The room was comfortable, clean and Wi-Fi was fine. There was also a computer in reception for guests. There was a great view of the sea, and the restaurant was right next door, so I could stumble in for breakfast in the morning (either traditional or American - both fine.) Lunch was an affordable $5 or so (2500CRC). The other reviewers are correct in saying that it was noisy outside at night, and that there were prostitutes outside the casino. However, I was a thirty-something female travelling alone and I never experienced any difficulty or trouble the four days I was there. Quepos is very friendly and feels safe to walk around at night. The casino was a bit sad, mostly guys on machines, and a sports bar, but you don't have to experience that. The noise was a bit annoying at times, but nothing too bad.

stay away from this hotel. my sister and i booked 2 rooms here. we originally booked both rooms for 4 nights and later changed reservation to 1 night within guidelines of cancellation and change reservation times printed on website! i even have best western e-mail confirming change of reservation to 1 night. upon check in, the night duty manager still maintained we had 4 nights for 2 rooms .we told them again that it had been changed to 1 night. next morning on checking out, manager said fine we could leave but my credit card had already been charge 4 nights for 2 rooms and we would not be refunded. i showed them my e-mail print out confirming that original 4 nights reservation was changed within hotel policy guidelines. the guy would not believe .i also told him that we had another reservation at another hotel for the next 3 night that could not be cancelled. after much argument he finally gave me form to fill out to get credit card refund. while we were about to fill up form - he took it away saying credit card charge was to best western main website on line so i must argue with them. he did not even give us a check out receipt! after a lot of arguing , we finally got the hotels stationary where i hand wrote that we stayed one night , date and the 2 room numbers. 1 signed it and i got the day manager at hotel to sign it.! it has been 4 months now!! my credit card company is unable to get the hotel to reverse the charge, i have complained with Best Western main also. i still have received no answer. i called Best western main office today again, this time .they say they do have that reservation was changed to one night. They say they will send to hotel and let me know in seven days. i was told that a month ago by another customer service representative at best western as well!!! meanwhile , i am out all almost $800 dollars! this is a total rip off. We always try to go with Brand name hotels in foreign countries , thinking it will be a better standard of service and above board. Clearly not the case! first the hotel was refusing to believe that we changed the reservation in time, now they are saying "how do they know that i only stayed 1 night? This is a large casino hotel. i can not believe they do not keep check out records. i have the room numbers we stayed in and note with date on best western stationary with acting managers' signature. Seems to me , that this is just a tactic to rip off customers! shame on hotel kamuk best western and Best Western!!

"awesome view from our room"
Debbie F, 18 Avril 2017

We stayed here on our way through to another area of Costa Rica as it was a great location. It was a very nice hotel- a great outdoor pool area- a common lounge area near the front desk and the rooms are very typical of the Best Western- ours was nothing fancy. We did have a gorgeous view of the ocean off our balcony . Breakfast was very good and included with our room- you will also be able to enjoy an ocean view while you are eating at the restaurant which was a beautiful way to start the morning. On the flip side to that the rooms were far from sound proof ,at night the ongoing rumble of cars and motorcycles until about 3 am did not allow for a very restful sleep... The hotel is on a block with many restaurants and stores around so that was very handy. After dinner we did enjoy a beautiful walk along the waters edge- any reason to be outside and enjoy the beautiful sites it has to offer. All in all we did enjoy our stay here- my suggestion would be if you would prefer a good nights sleep forgo the ocean view- its a hard call though :) Debbie and Mike

"I arrived at 15:45 the check in is at 15:00 and the room"
robalrr, 16 Avril 2017

I arrived at 15:45 the check in is at 15:00 and the room was not ready, I have to wait for the room. The parking is in the block in front of the hotel, I have to open the garage large door, the parking is super small so I have to leave the car in the entrace. At night because the casino there are a lots of prostitutes around the hotel, at dawn there was a fight between protitutes and some guys, because the casino my room was noisy. The room was under acceptable, it was clean but it was old. The breakfast was small and it closes at 9:00 on vactions it is not ok. I will not repeat this hotel.

"Medium experience"
Peruguayo, 06 Avril 2017

Maybe the best hotel in town, but with some issues: first, the noise... outside the hotel is a place where locals gather, and, really make noise... Second, the quality of wifi in my room was really poor... imposible to connect ... I was located in a room in the front of the hotel. I had to left my room and look for signal in other places of tech hotel. The room OK, clean... the breakfast OK (no butter..) The service nice, no parking.

"Great Hotel, but!"
jreese5384, 02 Avril 2017

Great hotel, but the noise is nothing to laugh about when you are sleeping. Outside of that it is a wonderful hotel with a great restaurant with great views of the Pacific Ocean. It is centrally located.

"Best Western Kamuk"
johnmichaelk198, 19 Mars 2017

Excellent stay. Helpful staff. Well-located for touring Manuel Antonio NP, but less expensive than staying close to the Park. Lots of restaurants and other conveniences in Quepos. Other tours are also available.

"Good casino "
Khushwant B, 26 Novembre 2016

Good casino Good staff and nice reception It's a nice place , neat and clean , not so loud music and good ambiance After hurricane day - might be that's reason it was not crowded much Spent around 2 hrs and completely enjoyed evening . It is the only place stayed open late night.

"Peaceful Ocean-Front Hotel"
Jessica A, 20 Août 2016

The Best Western Kamuk Hotel is right across the street from the ocean. We were offered a beach-facing room after our air-conditioner went out in the other room. The new room was on the 4th floor and was much nicer and had a balcony facing the street. The rooms were older yet very clean. The view was peaceful and serene. The best part of the hotel is the restaurant. It's located on the 3rd floor and is open all around so the breeze keeps you cool. You have a complete view of the ocean and the surrounding town. (Great to eat and watch the locals carrying on) The food is amazing!! We ate the free breakfast every morning and tried many things on the menu for dinner- our favorite was the chicken strips (for our daughter, they were not frozen) and the beef tenderloin. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful at both the restaurant and hotel. The pool was clean and very refreshing. I gave this hotel a very good rating because of what it offers in the area. The cost of the hotel is very low compared to the nicer places. This is the closest one to the beach in Quepos and marina too. The downside to this location is the noise. This seems to be a party area and around 2am people come out and really go wild until 6am. Thankfully we packed earplugs and sleep pretty good most nights. I would suggest this hotel only if you are not a light sleeper. The charm of the hotel and the old-fashioned character is really nice to visit. We felt safe in Quepos and walked the beach walkway every day. (Also- the beach here is for looking only, not swimming) There are really nice restaurants all around town among grocery stores and bakeries. On Fridays and Sats there's a farmer's market one block away from the hotel. It's a really nice Costa Rican experience if you can handle the lack of a quiet bedtimes :)

"Beautiful with really nice staff"
Caroline M, 13 Août 2016

Stayed here for 4 nights. Pros - lots of places to eat, including the hotel restaurant which has a beautiful view of the sea. Really beautiful hotel, lots of lovely plants and very clean. The staff are amazing, both on reception and in the restaurant. Near the bus station and really regular buses to Manuel Antonio. Cons - it's not a very relaxing hotel, particularly if you have a front room - I needed ear plugs to sleep but this is the price of a central hotel, I suppose.

"Slapeloze nacht"
jerrynasas, 01 Août 2016

The hotel is beautiful, but not for a good night rest. The casino of the hotel is open until the early morning and the visitors are very noisy. I could not sleep until 5 AM. The window does not close very well, so the noise can come easily in your room. The 3d day they gave me a more quiet room. The restaurant is good, we had a nice waiter, Oscar. The swimming pool is good. The hotel is near the see, but you can not swim here in the see. The Public beach is 6 km away and is easily to get at by public bus towards the national park Manuel Antonio. If you want to go to the beach for swimming, I strongly recommend to go to the beach in the national park. The most beautiful beach I ever saw. You have to walk half an hour through the rainforest, you will see monkeys and iguanas on your way to the beach. You will have to pay an entrance fee for the park, but it is worth every Colones.

"Be careful!"
arovie, 02 Juillet 2016

My daughter and I quickly learned to scope out the area across the street to watch the sunset and activities before heading out. There were certain times when it appeared to be family oriented, but other times when it seemed very unsafe. I did not feel comfortable walking towards the marina unless it was in the morning.

"We visited Quepos to fish inshore with Quepos Fish Advevtures. "
John T, 20 Juin 2016

The hotel was centrally located about .3 km from the marina. It was an easy 10 minute walk to meet the boat. The hotel staff was attentive, pleasant and helpful. The restaurant served exceptional meals even preparing my fresh caught fish daily. I found the restaurant staff to be very friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was ready to serve our very need. Hemingway-esque in overall ambiance, the hotel Kamuk meet all of our needs and I would return.

"Noisy location"
flluvs2travl, 18 Juin 2016

We were given the best room in this hotel on the front corner of the top floor. The street below is used for drag racing on motor scooters most of the day and evenings. Then at midnight the casino and club below really get cooking and that continues for the rest of the night! The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom recently refurbished, the king bed was very firm. Included breakfast was cooked to order and the view over the ocean was gorgeous. The best thing about this hotel is its staff, who were so friendly and willing to go overboard to please us. I would probably not stay here again because of the noise.

"Good place to stay and fish."
TahoeMarta, 01 Juin 2016

Nice central hotel, clean rooms, great restaurant. Other than the noise and late night partiers on the street below, this is the perfect place to stay in Quepos to be close to your deep sea fishing charter. The food and service in the hotel were quite nice.

"beware"
Kevin R, 21 Mai 2016

First of all, don't let them put you in a room in the construction zone; they will try. We did get a balcony room, so every night we had a front row view of the drug violence and hookers. This was a mistake, the hotels in Manuel Antonio would have been a much better choice.

"Comfortle"
ogibbs, 27 Avril 2016

We stayed there three nights. The rooms were comfortable and the service was quite good. The rooms were reasonably priced. The hotel is conveniently nnear the docks. Try to get a room as far away from the roads, as it does get wake up noisy at night.

"Loud with great service."
Andrew S, 19 Avril 2016

Staff was super helpful getting us checked in and ensuring that our rental car was parked somewhere that was patrolled by a security guard. Unfortunately, the rooms overlooking the entrance hall were extremely noisy due to traffic. It is simply a very poor design that creates an echo chamber effect. Providing ear-plugs would be a cheap and simple gesture.

"Good location"
Mar186525, 04 Avril 2016

This was not our first choice but most places fully booked and it was better than expected. Close to the bus station and numerous restaurants the hotel is trying to retain its Spanish flavour while part of an international chain. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Our room was at the front with a private balcony, it was clean and spacious. A plumbing problem was sorted immediately. Wifi was woeful really only available in the public areas. And the breakfast is disappointing - overcooked doughy pancakes, overcooked scrambled egg, cheap bread for toast.

"Good value for the area."
P M, 02 Avril 2016

Good location in Quepos, especially for fishing. Close to the marina. Nice pool, Good breakfast, friendly staff. A good value. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The beach is right across the street. I stayed in a weekday, and not many guests, nice.

"Quepos fishing adventure"
PA-Boyz, 31 Mars 2016

Second year staying at the BW Kamuk. Friendly staff. Rooms were clean, some smaller than others. I liked our deluxe room, plenty of room to unwind. Central location. Some riff-raff late at night hangin' on the side street. Interesting and not totally unpleasant. Reasonably priced. Will stay there again next year.

"For traveling in a safety bubble of American middle class."
BorkdlynNYC, 02 Mars 2016

Really I'd give it a very low 3 rating, like 2.9 or 3.1. The view is gorgeous, and the staff seems nice. But it's a big chain hotel, so it's corporate and dissonant. I also am the hostel backpacker type, so I'm a bit biased against staying in hotels where you don't really experience the place you're visiting. This was the only place available during my night in Quepos, and it's certainly not terrible. The free breakfast was expectedly bad. Crappy instant pancakes and generic nutrition less toast, and I had to pay for bottled water. The watermelon had zero taste at all, and the coffee was like American gas station instant coffee (reminder: this is friggin' Costa Rica here!). The pinapple was bangin' though. The dinner was expensive and unappealing so I opted to eat out in town. The pool was heavily under construction, and my room was facing it. Extremely loud jackhammers, saws, drills, and pounding noise went on from 8am until 6pm. Also it was so close I couldn't open my curtains or else there would be like 5 construction bros looking into my room the whole time, and the room has very inadequate lighting so it's basically just dark. I'll admit the AC is nice, and the bathrooms are large and everything is clean (except one of my towels that had stains). Asking about the pool or construction just gets a little pamphlet that has some propaganda about "...only serving you the best!" The casino was flat out sleazy. Again disclaimer: I find nearly all casinos to be sleazy and of poor taste, but this one is dark, dingy, and dirty. It looks like a broken kids arcade with zero patrons (though I did stay here on a Tuesday). It had a few carnies that looked like they worked there, and it felt so creepy I had to leave as soon as I could figure out where the door was again in the darkness. Pics of what appeared to be prostitutes everywhere diddnt help w the atmosphere. There's lots of cool places to eat and see around the hotel though, and I don't exactly regret being here. It just seems like the kind of place for baby boomer type tourists to hide in their western bubble of TV and 'merican food rather than experience Puntarenas for real (and of course, "business persons").

"Great Location & Friendly Staff"
millekj, 27 Février 2016

I have stayed at this hotel many times. The location is very convenient in centro Quepos and is close to the new marina and the main bus station. WiFi Internet service is limited in some areas of the hotel (they need to add additional access points), however, you can manage this by taking your WiFi device to the restaurant or hotel lobby.

"Good Hotel Downtown Quepos"
BridgetAF618, 23 Février 2016

This hotel is directly downtown Quepos which is conveniently located close to a coffee shop, bakery, and other convenience stores. It is also in a good spot to easily get to the bus station (for travels to Manuel Antonio or to/from San Jose). It has a nice pool and the amenities are also good, however this hotel is missing the charm that many other Costa Rican hotels offer. Since it is right downtown the neighborhood can seem a little rough and noisy (additionally the hotel walls are pretty thin). The hotel staff was accommodating but not your typical welcoming and kind locals. If you are coming town for the sole reason of Manuel Antonio I would recommend staying somewhere closer to the park as those places seemed to have the charm and character of Costa Rica. The good restaurants with a view are not downtown Quepos and so it's not necessary to stay in the town. (However- if you are coming to stay specifically in quepos then this hotel would be your best bet for sure)!

"Clean, good price, but couldn't sleep because of noise"
sunny_soupbowls, 06 Février 2016

A really nice hotel to stay at because of the pool, breakfast, location and staff! The A/C worked very well in the room which was great because it was swelteringly hot while we were there. The only major drawback was that we were overlooking the beach and the people on the street outside were reaaaally loud! Dirt bikes and motorbikes starting up and racing until around 4am. We probably won't go back to this hotel again solely for that reason. Would not recommend for people who value their sleep.

"A fair deal"
jrwshngtn, 17 Janvier 2016

This hotel is a good stopping point, near Manuel Antonio, near the new Quepos marina, as well as midway along the southeast Pacific coast. No frills, not luxurious, but clean and decent. Quepos is a small town, quite beat up, yet friendly. I have stayed at this hotel many times and have never had any issues. If you are looking for real comfort or luxury, this is not the place.

"Steady as she goes"
traveledbefore, 14 Janvier 2016

Keeping in mind that this hotel is in a small but popular fishing village, it offers a clean well appointed option for a nite or two. In the heart of town with views of the waterfront the hotel has all the amenities you would find in a well run Best Western in middle America. It is a bit expensive and the street noise is a downside. But the AC, TV, restaurant, and location are the offset.

"Don't expect a full night's sleep"
mmmikemoran, 09 Janvier 2016

We arrived at about 12:45 but were told that we wouldn't be able to check in until 14:00. Cue a trip downtown to pass the time. When we got into it, the room was smaller than any others we stayed in during 11 days in Costa Rica. We were overlooking the side street where most of the shops and bars are located and two rooms back from the front of the hotel - on what we Europeans call the 2nd floor. The front of the hotel is across from the beach and therein lies the main problem. It was moderately noisy from street traffic and music from bars as we settled for the night but from midnight until 4:20 am the room was virtually bouncing from the music from the beach. Breakfast was the usual fare of buffet of fruit and bread with orange juice and coffee served at the table. OK - but not remarkable. We only stayed so we could be handy to Quepos airport - but we would find better nearby the next time we visit.

"New Year's Eve"
Lauren S, 02 Janvier 2016

Stayed here Dec 31. The parking is limited and off site, so keep that in mind. The room we had faced the ocean and the celebration for NYE was literally across the street! The celebration was so fun and watching the fireworks from the balcony was an added bonus. The staff was not very helpful when we asked for driving directions however the location and atmosphere made up for it!

"Overall good stay except for street noise at night"
Awang2011, 28 Décembre 2015

The hotel is in an area with local festivals and street activity and both nights there were parties outside with one night ending at midnight so we lost some sleep. The breakfast and view from the restaurant was great! Pool area was good. Staff was friendly. The shower was impressively clean and spacious. I would stay there again except when I made a complaint about the noise, the manager didn't respond very nicely.

"Very Convenient Location With Great Staff"
millekj, 19 Décembre 2015

I have stayed here many times and the location is walking distance to the marina, bus station, and anything in Quepos (small town). The staff are all very friendly and great people that will go out of there way to assist you with anything.

"Super location in the heart of Quepos"
mstark619, 13 Décembre 2015

Why wouldn't you stay here? It is hands down in the best location if your staying in quepos. Rooms are nice and clean with a cold ac. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful too. The views for the morning breakfast are amazing too, so don't pass that up!

"Nice little hotel"
paul s, 13 Décembre 2015

Stayed at the BW - Kamuk for 5 nights last week. We were fishing and the marina where our charter was located was less than a mile away. The hotel is located in the center of town and has a lot of pedestrian traffic nearby. The hotel is nicely appointed, clean and neat. The bathrooms were well maintained. The hot water was a little eratic. The staff at the front desk as well as the restaurant/bar were friendly and competent. Only the rooms are air conditoned. It takes a little to get used to it, but it's not as bad as you might imagine. The pool area was also nice. I will definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I travel to Quepos. Please note..there is a small casino downstairs that is open till 4AM, we were in room 313 , far from the casino and weren't bothered by the casino noise, though there is a lot going on outside of the casino till the wee hours.

"Location, location, location!"
Annabelle L, 09 Novembre 2015

We booked this hotel because we were looking for the following: a bar, a pool, free parking, good price, and close to THE NIGHTCLUB IN QUEPOS, REPUBLIK. Getting there was a bit frustrating because the streets get confusing (many 1 way streets) and I couldn't find the parking lot for the life of me. And honestly when I saw the hotel, it looked disappointing. Check in was easy and the clerk was very nice and helpful. Informed me that the parking was on the next street over, and was gated and locked (took that worry away). Handed me the wifi password (wifi does not work for anything btw), a 10% coupon for the restaurant upstairs (which we used and the food was delicious) and a ticket for the free breakfast in the am (which we used and the food was delicious). And she let us know that the club opens at 10 pm. The hotel is very close (across the street) from markets, stores and restaurants and many bars (AWESOME). After we went shopping and had dinner, we went for a swim and then got ready to go out. REPUBLIK IS AWESOME! The next morning at breakfast, we saw the VIEW. What a beautiful way to have breakfast, with the ocean and beach right across the street. Hotel room - no fridge, but all was good. And the best thing about an American Brand Hotel, the bed was super comfy and had tons of pillows.

"Best in the town of quepos"
junglej15, 14 Octobre 2015

The rooms are clean and somewhat spacious for the area, Hotel is in the middle of town close to everything and still safe. Restaurant on site is great and there is also a casino. You can walk from here everywhere in town and there is night life not to far away. Great for a family.

"Good choice for the price"
Keren J, 10 Octobre 2015

Great staff- especially Raquel at the reception desk. She upgraded us to a suite with two king beds and a great view of the pool. It is a little noisy but I think the town just has a lot of motorcycles and city traffic as well as monkeys, birds and other animals. It was a great price and such a convenient location. I would stay here again.

"Ok for traveling through Quepos"
Nhelmer, 29 Septembre 2015

The staff was very friendly and helpful as we checked somewhat late one evening on our travels through Quespos. It was a little more than I would have expected to pay for such a place but I think there was a large fishing tournament in the area. The room was nothing special and kind of run down. The shower didn't drain very well, therefore, we had to shower in about 3 inches of water. They place had it's charm though. We did enjoy the complimentary breakfast on the upstairs patio overlooking the main drag though. If going through the area again I would probably try to find a cheaper place with the same feel.

"Very noisy but cheap"
MarksTwoCents, 15 Septembre 2015

I think it is one of the lowest cost, if noisiest, places to stay in Quepos. You can walk to the beach or all over town for that matter, continental breakfast was included on my stay and there was a drumming group that practiced outside my window (it seemed) for two of the three nights I was there.

"Mundial 2014"
Jeka201, 18 Août 2015

My friends and I stayed here the weekend of the last game CR played in the World Cup. The rates were cheap and it was literally in the middle of everything. Restaurants, beach, bars. I decided to stay here due to the fact that it felt like the perfect location to be, and im so glad I stayed here. The rooms were average (but it is a chain hotel, its expected) the important part was that everything was clean, the pool was nice, the people were nice and everything was in walking distance. Checking in and out was super easy, and it literally felt safe going in and out of the hotel. It was really loud, but we were a group of adults in our late twenties early thirties drinking on vacation, it was expected and we didnt mind it at all.

"Smelly room, flies in food, noise in the streets, poor service..."
DIYDancer, 14 Août 2015

My spouse and I ended up here after bidding on "4 star" hotels near Manuel Antonio on Priceline. What a joke. The first room in which we were assigned had such an awful smell, but we were exhausted and decided to deal with it for one night. We were awakened numerous times by the partying in the streets, car alarms, honking, and constant thumping bass from a neighboring club. The next morning at breakfast I counted 4 dead bees and 2 flies in the bowl of yogurt at the breakfast buffet!! My husband made a bowl of cereal, thinking it was a safe choice, until a dead fly came pouring out of the milk pitcher into his bowl. Unsurprisingly, the waitstaff appeared lazy and unbothered by the insects in the food. On the second night we were upgraded to a premium room because of our complaints about the noise and the smell. The room was much nicer, less smelly, but just as noisy. Two positive things about this hotel: 1. The young Ticos working at the front desk were all extremely friendly and helpful! They meet the 4 star criteria :) 2.They offer a lot in which you can lock your car. You get the key at the front desk when you need it. It's not the most convenient, but nice to know that you car is not on the street! Quepos is evidently not a safe neighborhood. I would recommend paying a little more and staying in Manuel Antonio.

"Nice place but really loud neighbourhood"
EstTraveller, 07 Août 2015

Best Western Kamuk is a hotel with a great location, noone can deny that. If you are lucky, you can even get a view on the ocean from your room or at least from your balcony (like we did). The hotel is clean and looks new(ish) and so were the rooms. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom quite spacious. There is a pool, nice restaurant, a lobby and many other amenities in the building and secured parking in the adjacent street (free of charge). Breakfast was included and was great. The staff was very welcoming and friendly but the service was sometimes a bit slow. For example there was a broken light bulb in our room and for changing that we had to call 3 times and the repairman finally came about 24 hours after our first call. I just think they are understaffed because the attitude of the people was very positive and they were embarrassed that the problem was not solved quicker. We booked our room through their homepage and this worked like a charm. So everything was just perfect? Well, not quite. The biggest issue is the noise. We had read the comments from tripadvisor and knew that this was an issue. Considering the location and a very good price we thought that how bad can it be. It was quite bad. Our room was facing the side street (not the ocean) and everything was ok until about midnight. Usual street noise until then, no problem. But then the parties started in the many bars that are on this street. The street buildings reflected the noise so perfectly that when you closed your eyes, it felt like you were in one of those bars. In the middle of it, near the speaker. The windows did not stop any of that ruckus and the music was REALLY loud and the parties lasted until 3-4 o'clock. The first night I practically got no sleep, the next night was a bit better. Maybe the rooms facing the other sides are better but you have to avoid the rooms towards the side street (if you are interested in sleeping at night). If I'm ever in Quepos again, I would consider BW Kamuk again but only if I can choose a room. If not then I would look somewhere else. Few words on Manuel Antonio Park also (that's why most people stay in Quepos). It is an overcrowded and the most boring park we visited in Costa Rica. You can see times more wildlife in any of the not-so-popular reserves nearby (for example Carara). I'm a wildlife photographer (amateur) and I really did not get the hype. Ok, there's a nice beach and there are a lot of monkeys but the wide paved tracks and absence of wildlife make it very artificial. I kind of even regret I went there. If you want to see animals and birds in their natural habitat then this place is not for you (you just do not see many of them, even with a guide). If you want to see monkeys and have a day at the beach then you might consider it (although there are better alternatives even for that).
